:00:48. > :01:09.Time. Persistent, unrelenting, waiting for nobody. The past, the

:01:10. > :01:19.present. The future. Time. Time is everything. Good afternoon. In Japan

:01:20. > :01:29.they might call him something and then Bulgaria something else. We

:01:30. > :01:34.know him as the lightning bolt and whatever language you use, he is

:01:35. > :01:39.fast. Last night Usain Bolt struck for the eighth time in the Olympic

:01:40. > :01:44.Games in the 200 metres. If he were to win the sprint relay, it would

:01:45. > :01:49.complete that much vaunted treble treble. Then he would power it down

:01:50. > :01:53.a little bit and rest on his Olympic laurels. There is no one else doing

:01:54. > :02:02.that with three more games left to go in Rio. Liam Heath won silver

:02:03. > :02:13.yesterday in the kayaking. Today he is on his own in the 200 metres

:02:14. > :02:19.sprint. Mohammed became the first to win taekwondo medals in the

:02:20. > :02:31.taekwondo in London. Can he do it again? There is the individual

:02:32. > :02:38.show-jumping final. New Zealand take on Germany for the women's bronze

:02:39. > :02:43.medal in the hockey. Pune is where we will end up over the next six

:02:44. > :02:48.hours? We will end up all over the place. We did it yesterday to great

:02:49. > :02:54.effect. There were medals all over this wonderful city. It is Great

:02:55. > :03:01.Britain's first ever appearance in the women's hockey final. That is at

:03:02. > :03:06.nine o'clock. There is a final round of jumping at 5:30pm this afternoon.

:03:07. > :03:15.There is around before that to decide the best 20 to go into the

:03:16. > :03:22.show-jumping. It could very much be Usain Bolt's final session in the

:03:23. > :03:28.Olympics this evening. We have got the modern pentathlon. Great British

:03:29. > :03:36.women have been winning medals in that. The women's football gold will

:03:37. > :03:42.go to either Sweden or Germany this evening. But it is the women's

:03:43. > :03:46.hockey final that we have been talking about and there is great

:03:47. > :03:51.excitement in the British camp because it is the first time the

:03:52. > :04:02.women have made it into the final. They have done it in style with

:04:03. > :04:11.seven wins out of seven so far. It is a gold for Alex Danson. It is

:04:12. > :04:17.pushed home and Great Britain at the moment are the top team in the

:04:18. > :04:30.Olympic tournament. It is a goal for Great Britain. Annesley, right

:04:31. > :04:38.click, she scores. Great Britain will go to the Olympic semifinal and

:04:39. > :04:47.they will face New Zealand. Alex Danson gets the first goal of the

:04:48. > :04:53.match. She has got it! Great Britain are in the Olympic final. Nine

:04:54. > :04:58.o'clock tonight on BBC One and we will be with it all the way. In last

:04:59. > :05:04.night's men's final at what a fantastic match it was. Argentina

:05:05. > :05:09.eventually beat the Belgians in a six goal thriller. It was 4-2 to the

:05:10. > :05:14.Argentinians and it was the first medal won by the men in the hockey.

:05:15. > :05:19.They have always been in the shadow of the women's hockey team. But of

:05:20. > :05:21.all the six gold medals this one was the pick of the bunch. It was the

:05:22. > :05:39.best one we have ever seen. Does this remind you of Archie

:05:40. > :05:44.Gemmill with a stick? 1978 appropriately in Argentina. That was

:05:45. > :05:52.a fantastic goal. Congratulations to Argentina. We are going straight out

:05:53. > :05:58.onto the water because it is time for more sprint canoeing. We enjoyed

:05:59. > :06:01.it yesterday, there was a silver medal for Jon Schofield and Liam

:06:02. > :06:07.Heath and Liam Heath is back again today with a medal chance, we hope,

:06:08. > :06:13.in the kayak single. It is the shortest event, the 200 metres,

:06:14. > :06:17.which was won by Ed McKeever in London four years ago. Liam Heath

:06:18. > :06:22.beat him in qualification to get the spot for Great Britain. He goes in

:06:23. > :06:28.the next heat. This is the second heat we are going to enjoy and we

:06:29. > :06:32.shall go to Patrick Winterton and Helen Reeve. Good morning. It was a

:06:33. > :06:38.great morning there yesterday, could we be in for some more of the same

:06:39. > :06:45.today? Hazel, everyone is very excited about Liam Heath's

:06:46. > :06:49.prospects. The word is he is flying. I do not think we will see anything

:06:50. > :06:54.special from him today, it is all about getting through to tomorrow's

:06:55. > :06:59.finals. He has got seven or eight minutes before he gets on to the

:07:00. > :07:05.start. A few moments before we really see what sort of form he is

:07:06. > :07:11.in. This is the second heat of this event, which was introduced in 2012.

:07:12. > :07:16.Germany won the first heat in QuickTime. Yes, he was looking very

:07:17. > :07:23.fast and conditions are good for them with a tail wind going straight

:07:24. > :07:30.down the course. Spain, Hungary, Russia, France, the Czech Republic,

:07:31. > :07:37.Korea and Cuba. The Spaniard in lane two always takes a cold shower

:07:38. > :07:42.before a race. Six feet four and 98 kilos, he is the biggest man in the

:07:43. > :07:52.heat. Good start from Cuba on the near side. A good start from Maxine

:07:53. > :07:57.Beaumont of France. He is looking very comfortable at the moment. A

:07:58. > :08:05.very explosive start. This is where it is difficult. Lane two is

:08:06. > :08:10.starting to pull back, but it is Maxine Beaumont who has got the lead

:08:11. > :08:22.at the moment. Ten metres to go and he secures that one. Once again,

:08:23. > :08:28.lanes one, two, three and four produced the best times. The French

:08:29. > :08:34.man will be happy with that. The times are quick. We will see some

:08:35. > :08:40.real fireworks in the semifinal. They have only got an hour or so in

:08:41. > :08:43.between the heat and the semifinals. Now it is about getting off the

:08:44. > :08:48.water and getting the recovery in and going through the preparation

:08:49. > :08:52.process they prefer for the final. It is a tight programme, everyone

:08:53. > :08:57.commenting on it. It is a bit harder than those doing longer do

:08:58. > :09:03.distances. When you build up lactic acid, how do you floss it out? They

:09:04. > :09:09.have a strict process, they will have it nailed down. They do not

:09:10. > :09:15.have the time to flush out the system. It is rare you see somebody

:09:16. > :09:23.half a boat length ahead in a short race like this. Beaumont of France,

:09:24. > :09:28.a brilliant start, and he stayed strong to the finish. Did he need to

:09:29. > :09:34.do that? Not really because the top five were going through whatever. A

:09:35. > :09:39.nice style. He settled into a good rhythm despite all the tape on his

:09:40. > :09:44.shoulder. Shoulder injuries are more common than anything else with

:09:45. > :09:49.paddlers. They have a few back problems as well, but the shoulders

:09:50. > :09:54.take most of the punishment. They do have quite a lot of back problems

:09:55. > :10:00.and sometimes they get stress fractures. I think he has borrowed

:10:01. > :10:06.that tape of the German team. They are racing in pain. They have done

:10:07. > :10:14.very well in the past in pink. Guess what? They are heading the medal

:10:15. > :10:25.table. He was three tenths of a second clear. Rishi Persad is down

:10:26. > :10:29.there. Much to enjoy there. It is semifinals there today and we will

:10:30. > :10:32.not be seeing any medals, but it could be a grandstand finale

:10:33. > :10:47.tomorrow. Absolutely, looking forward to tomorrow. Later on this

:10:48. > :10:51.morning at 9:37am here, at one in Britain, it is the women. We are

:10:52. > :10:57.looking forward to seeing what Liam can do because he and Jon Schofield

:10:58. > :11:00.won the silver in the K two 200 metres yesterday, an improvement on

:11:01. > :11:04.their bronze medal. After they won their bronze medal in London they

:11:05. > :11:09.said they had unfinished business and they should have won in London

:11:10. > :11:17.and they came here with at least silver on their minds. Yesterday

:11:18. > :11:20.Liam seemed pretty excited and he said this was vindication of how

:11:21. > :11:31.well his training was going and he was looking ahead to his heat today.

:11:32. > :11:36.He goes in the third heat. I guess Liam will be looking to conserve as

:11:37. > :11:39.much energy as he can. We heard from Patrick that the first five go

:11:40. > :11:47.through to the semifinal and then the sixth best time from the rest of

:11:48. > :11:51.the losers goes through as well. We are about to see Liam go in his

:11:52. > :11:56.heat. He must be very well regarded because he had to beat the Olympic

:11:57. > :12:04.champion, Ed McKeever, to get this spot. But he is pretty new to this

:12:05. > :12:09.event, is he? Yes comic he is. He is much more accomplished in the 200

:12:10. > :12:12.metres and given the way the old system worked, the closeness of the

:12:13. > :12:18.event meant it would have been a struggle. But because of the

:12:19. > :12:23.schedule here, it means he can compete in both events because there

:12:24. > :12:26.is enough recovery time. He won the European Championship gold medal in

:12:27. > :12:31.June in the event he is about to compete in now, which gives them a

:12:32. > :12:34.big boost. He is quite new to it and only the results tell you whether

:12:35. > :12:39.the training that you are doing is bearing up to scrutiny in the

:12:40. > :12:43.toughest of conditions. Given the result in the European Championships

:12:44. > :12:50.and the way he has performed so far suggests that it is all systems go

:12:51. > :12:56.and he looks in a good place. To follow up on what you were saying,

:12:57. > :13:02.he has only raised this distance in K-1 about four times and each time

:13:03. > :13:08.he has been right in there amongst the medal. I am sure he is as

:13:09. > :13:12.confident as his partner. Jon Schofield was saying he had been

:13:13. > :13:16.blitzing it in training and he was trying to hang onto his coat-tails

:13:17. > :13:23.yesterday. He said it rather modestly. Patrick and Helen, this is

:13:24. > :13:27.a big moment in the career of Liam Heath. It certainly is, a real

:13:28. > :13:32.opportunity for him to make a massive name for himself and there

:13:33. > :13:37.is no doubt that the 200 metres has resurrected his career. Allen, he

:13:38. > :13:42.was not far of giving up and they introduced the 200 and he realised

:13:43. > :13:50.that is where his strength lie. Yes, when they got introduced into the

:13:51. > :13:55.programme. There he is, looking very tall and confident. He has hardly

:13:56. > :14:00.been off the podium since they got introduced into the programme, the

:14:01. > :14:07.200 metres. The top five go through, it is not about winning. Although

:14:08. > :14:14.you might want to make a statement before the semifinals. He has got a

:14:15. > :14:17.silver medal and that may be crucial because it takes some pressure off

:14:18. > :14:26.because he has got something from the games already. Yes, it takes a

:14:27. > :14:35.bit of the pressure off, obviously they did some great things in that

:14:36. > :14:41.boat as well. The K-1 200 metres. 34 seconds, that is all it is going to

:14:42. > :14:47.take. Some 90 strokes from start to finish. It is a very good start from

:14:48. > :14:49.Liam Heath. A tiny loss of balance after about ten strokes, but still

:14:50. > :15:43.going well. If he does that, you will have a

:15:44. > :15:47.gold, silver and bronze. It is going to be an exciting final. But we

:15:48. > :15:55.still have the semifinals to go through. Heath is safely through and

:15:56. > :16:00.will get a decent draw in the lane. Should conditions develop, lanes

:16:01. > :16:05.one, two, three, for our pastor, they may put the favourites in those

:16:06. > :16:11.lanes. Hopefully that won't happen, they will try to make it as fair as

:16:12. > :16:16.they can. Great start from Liam, didn't come under too much threat.

:16:17. > :16:22.He will be amongst the race and that will make the difference to The

:16:23. > :16:32.Times. Fabulous/ rate from Liam Heath. Punched in his position

:16:33. > :16:39.trying to get the power. He turns it over so fast. After the early loss

:16:40. > :16:44.of balance, he turned it around and then had the race under control.

:16:45. > :16:53.First phase is complete, the second phase is the semifinals, if it goes

:16:54. > :16:58.the way it did in this heat, he will be through to the final and then who

:16:59. > :17:05.knows what will happen. We expect the top seven to be within half a

:17:06. > :17:14.second tomorrow. Liam Heath, 34 point 327, to secure his place in

:17:15. > :17:20.the semifinals. Fantastic stuff from Liam Heath. All the chat about Liam

:17:21. > :17:27.Heath going through and how his good form has manifested itself here,

:17:28. > :17:32.just confirmation of the qualifiers. Liam Heath in great shape. But the

:17:33. > :17:38.locals here are absolutely over the moon about the performances of the

:17:39. > :17:46.Santos, the Brazilian who has won the first Olympic canoeing medal for

:17:47. > :17:53.Brazil. He has won the C1, 1000 metres and the C1, 200 metres, and

:17:54. > :18:03.he is taking his place in the C2 1000 metres, which is the next event

:18:04. > :18:09.here. He is alongside his partner and they have had great success. He

:18:10. > :18:12.has let this place up with his personality. What are the chances of

:18:13. > :18:16.him being able to do this again, winning another medal in three

:18:17. > :18:23.events. It is exhausting, we have seen how difficult it is. You

:18:24. > :18:28.probably need to ask him how much the last four days have taken out of

:18:29. > :18:32.him. I am sure he wants a full set of medals. He was delighted with the

:18:33. > :18:38.medals yesterday, but there was a bit in him that thought he could get

:18:39. > :18:45.the gold. It is a big ass, if he gets another one, he will be a

:18:46. > :18:50.megastar in Brazil. Helen, the effects of four days, solid racing,

:18:51. > :18:57.and by the end of The Games he will have six consecutive races. Yes, he

:18:58. > :19:03.very aggressive, knows what he wants. If he gets a third medal in

:19:04. > :19:07.Rio, that will become the first canoe paddle to get three medals

:19:08. > :19:19.across the disciplines at an Olympic Games. He has that in his mind to go

:19:20. > :19:27.for. And the paddler from Hungary to do that and she'll be in action

:19:28. > :19:32.later. She has a great runs and has been performing. Her second gold

:19:33. > :19:38.medal of The Games so far. The best men's double pinning, Germany, the

:19:39. > :19:54.likely one, they tend to dominate. They won Olympic gold those of two

:19:55. > :19:59.notions expected to beat again? They will generally be the nations,

:20:00. > :20:05.looking for the Ukraine boat, they could also be in the race. There are

:20:06. > :20:26.the Ukrainians. Quiros Dos Santos looking for he

:20:27. > :20:41.number three. We are missing mole bogey. -- Moldavia. They should have

:20:42. > :20:47.been in lane number three. Sir guide to nosh he has been disqualified

:20:48. > :20:54.having taken the bronze medal. Not through a doping offence here, but

:20:55. > :21:01.Anna Mensah prior to The Games. All our information is telling us he has

:21:02. > :21:08.been officially disqualified, which would put the Russian art into the

:21:09. > :21:13.bronze medal position. He is also competing here in lane number six.

:21:14. > :21:26.Russia now have two bronze medals from this regatta and they don't

:21:27. > :21:37.have a boat in the C2, 1000. There is Peer roster Santos at the back of

:21:38. > :21:42.the Brazilian -- Quiros Dos Santos. He was knocking the crowd yesterday

:21:43. > :21:46.after his success. Brazil should be easy qualifiers. The way it works in

:21:47. > :21:49.this, the first go through to the final. I think we will see the

:21:50. > :21:52.Brazilians putting in every effort to win this. They do not want

:21:53. > :22:11.another race. Russia on the near side. Already,

:22:12. > :22:18.Brazil have made a mark. Starting well is one thing, you haven't lost

:22:19. > :22:25.the race at that stage, it is the finish that is so crucial. Once the

:22:26. > :22:31.lactose starts to poison the body, the legs, the arms all browsers.

:22:32. > :22:40.They have to be able to maintain the strength. The way Dos Santos took on

:22:41. > :22:44.the 1000 metre, he took it out from the front and then was overtaken in

:22:45. > :22:52.the latter stages. They are slowing the pace slightly. They are working

:22:53. > :23:00.at a higher/ rate than the Russians in lane number six. Be interesting

:23:01. > :23:06.to see if they will hold on whether the other boats will pick them. They

:23:07. > :23:14.are six or seven inches shorter than the Giants either side of them.

:23:15. > :23:17.Slowly, bit by bit, washer and Ukraine are drawing back towards the

:23:18. > :23:25.Brazilians who are easing up, I was thinking about saving something for

:23:26. > :23:26.the last 500. Only one bulb goes on to the semifinals automatically, the

:23:27. > :23:50.rest have to fight it out. The boots are saving themselves for

:23:51. > :23:57.the semis. That includes Mozambique. The Australians on the near side,

:23:58. > :24:05.the oldest group, a combined age of 84, the Australians. Here come

:24:06. > :24:17.Ukraine. Interesting to see if they want to get on whether they want to

:24:18. > :24:20.conserve their energy. They will be certain Dos Santos won't want to be

:24:21. > :24:27.doing the semifinal after the competing he has been doing. Typing

:24:28. > :24:32.Ukraine, who are sneaking up on them, have realised Brazil were not

:24:33. > :24:42.let them have this one. And Dos Santos, at the back of the boat is

:24:43. > :24:55.the man providing the power. Earl on the Souza Silver in front of him,

:24:56. > :25:00.setting the pace. If he can make it three medals from three races, and

:25:01. > :25:04.from what we have seen here, the Brazilians who did so well in the

:25:05. > :25:09.World Championships are medal potential? They are looking in great

:25:10. > :25:13.form, working very well together. Great skill getting your body is

:25:14. > :25:16.working at the same time and getting the blade in the water. The

:25:17. > :25:27.excitement of the competition over this week will help them. 3.32, the

:25:28. > :25:37.winning time from the Brazilians. Let's get confirmation with the

:25:38. > :25:41.times. Russia and Ukraine both silenced by the Brazilians who

:25:42. > :25:47.started fast and finished fast. They will have 25 hours recovery instead

:25:48. > :25:52.of 24 before the final. That time distance might not be significant,

:25:53. > :25:56.but they don't have too race again today. And the semifinals are more

:25:57. > :26:01.intense because there is so much at stake. It was a very good move from

:26:02. > :26:06.the home nation and it increases their chances of getting into the

:26:07. > :26:10.top three tomorrow. Definitely a change in spirit with the success

:26:11. > :26:13.from the Brazilians last night in the Beach Volleyball Arena be had

:26:14. > :26:23.success in the sailing as well. It is so good for the home nation and

:26:24. > :26:29.suddenly, the Olympics was the thing on a television in the bars instead

:26:30. > :26:33.of the football. It it was nice watching the triathlon and the

:26:34. > :26:41.Brownlee Brothers getting their medal. Dos Santos is in fabulous

:26:42. > :26:46.form. The confidence he has his reactions, the way he is behaving

:26:47. > :26:49.postevent commonly is in control and has the confidence in his process

:26:50. > :26:56.and very much looking to try and get in the medal positions tomorrow. So

:26:57. > :27:10.the story rolls on. I think we will have a packed house tomorrow. The

:27:11. > :27:18.word will spread that there could be some history make tomorrow in the

:27:19. > :27:23.men's C2, 1000 metres. Just a little bit slower than maybe we were

:27:24. > :27:33.expecting, but it is windy conditions and the balance is very

:27:34. > :27:36.difficult. Patrick, talking about the way the

:27:37. > :27:41.host nation is getting behind these games. It has taken a long time, but

:27:42. > :27:47.the stagette is filling up and the medals are coming in. Yesterday,

:27:48. > :27:51.they achieved joint top in terms of their history with five gold medals.

:27:52. > :27:57.The best they have ever done was in Athens with five gold medals. The

:27:58. > :28:01.Sprint canoeing features in a mixed because he is the only athlete from

:28:02. > :28:06.Brazil to have won more than one medal at these games, so he is

:28:07. > :28:13.already a national hero. He is reflected on the front pages today.

:28:14. > :28:18.But also the sailing gold won by the Brazilian women. It was in the 49

:28:19. > :28:27.class and it was an unbelievable race. Martino is the daughter of

:28:28. > :28:37.Brazil's joint best athlete of all time. He is a sailor himself. This

:28:38. > :28:44.is great joy, as you can imagine. The only paper to get in the Beach

:28:45. > :28:48.Volleyball Arena or from Alison and Bruno last night, because it was

:28:49. > :28:59.very late, midnight start. They have it. Interestingly in the Sao Paulo

:29:00. > :29:06.paper, they were saying the girls' victory in the sailing was achieved

:29:07. > :29:11.because of the flag. They sought the Brazilian flag change direction,

:29:12. > :29:15.this is what they clocked, apparently. They realised there had

:29:16. > :29:20.been a very significant change in the wind direction and immediately

:29:21. > :29:26.adjusted their course and flew over the line to take the dramatic gold.

:29:27. > :29:31.They are saying because of that flag, they got the gold medal. But

:29:32. > :29:39.this has been a massive story in Brazil. Light, big fat lie. The

:29:40. > :29:46.American Olympic committee admits the error of the athletes and has

:29:47. > :29:50.apologised to Rio and Brazil. Ryan Lotty and his three swimming mates

:29:51. > :29:53.who went out and their behaviour was not befitting, says the American

:29:54. > :29:58.Olympic committee of the standards they'd like of their athletes. Of

:29:59. > :30:02.course now it is a criminal investigation.

:30:03. > :30:07.after about ten strokes, but still going well.

:30:08. > :30:15.But more or less they are full of joy about the coming good of their

:30:16. > :30:18.athletes. When it comes to team jumping it is not great for Great

:30:19. > :30:24.Britain's athletes in the equestrian events. Having won that amazing gold

:30:25. > :30:29.medal four years ago, they did not make it through to qualify to be

:30:30. > :30:33.able to defend the title, but we have got Ben Maher her and Nick

:30:34. > :30:37.Skelton who have got through to the individual finals today. Lee

:30:38. > :30:43.McKenzie is that the equestrian centre. I read an interesting report

:30:44. > :30:47.from Ben who said that he and Nick feel they have to redeem themselves

:30:48. > :30:54.today. Is that the feeling you are getting? When I spoke to them, they

:30:55. > :30:56.were his exact words. There is a real sense that starting from

:30:57. > :31:03.scratch that something is available for both of these riders. On the

:31:04. > :31:09.team jumping day Germany and Canada ended up in a jump off. Although it

:31:10. > :31:14.was a quick 42nd round, it was frenetic, so hopefully those riders

:31:15. > :31:20.might be a little bit more tired and it opens up again for Nick who got

:31:21. > :31:27.so close in London on Big Star on the individual medals. Tina Cook has

:31:28. > :31:32.been working with us and you have walked around the course. It is easy

:31:33. > :31:38.to say it looks big, but it really does. As an event rider that looks

:31:39. > :31:46.absolutely massive. The horses have to be so brave as well as careful. I

:31:47. > :31:51.did not appreciate it before. 160 on the front rails and there is another

:31:52. > :31:55.water tray in there that Nick Skelton will not be happy about it,

:31:56. > :32:02.but it has got lines around it. It is honoured tight turn, so it looks

:32:03. > :32:09.a bit more like a viaduct, so I think the horse might look at it and

:32:10. > :32:13.go up in the aerobic, I am hoping. He said it got him out and it caught

:32:14. > :32:18.out Don Whitaker and he said the whole point of show-jumping should

:32:19. > :32:23.not be subjective, if it falls, it falls, but maybe he would say that.

:32:24. > :32:31.It was a close margin and there were some horses that were clearly

:32:32. > :32:35.dropping and they deserved to be Spanish. But with Nick he was

:32:36. > :32:43.incredibly unlucky when it caught the horse's hoops. We know Ben Maher

:32:44. > :32:53.Howard starts from scratch, but the opportunity is there. With Nick and

:32:54. > :32:55.Big Star he has been off with injury, but he has rested and with

:32:56. > :33:01.every round they have got better and better and they are looking back to

:33:02. > :33:05.their best. I know it has been frustrating for you to be working

:33:06. > :33:09.alongside us as opposed to competing, but overall in terms of

:33:10. > :33:15.British equestrian, how would you sum up the Olympic Games? I think we

:33:16. > :33:19.have been unlucky. I would say that, but we came here with strong

:33:20. > :33:24.chances. Germany looked very strong in all the disciplines. The event

:33:25. > :33:30.riders went well and we were unlucky in the cross country. Dressage came

:33:31. > :33:35.to the fore not quite as what they wanted, but our opportunity today is

:33:36. > :33:38.to get back on track. The Germans have been so strong in all

:33:39. > :33:46.disciplines, but they might go home a bit disappointed because the

:33:47. > :33:51.French have stood out. They have been amazing, they are on fire. They

:33:52. > :33:55.came over to Britain and really tested their riders and it showed.

:33:56. > :34:03.They came in here and they were very positive, as were the jumpers. We

:34:04. > :34:09.have got Nick Skelton and Big Star and it was in the London 2012 team.

:34:10. > :34:12.It just missed out, but Nick says as the competition has progressed, the

:34:13. > :34:19.horse has got even better. Ben Maher higher will be riding Tic Tac. We

:34:20. > :34:29.will have everything on the Red Button for you. Plenty of chances

:34:30. > :34:34.and availability of that and we might be going to it live as well.

:34:35. > :34:42.We are dotting around today. We have got a quartet of women in action in

:34:43. > :34:46.four. This is another dynamic event. How do we assess the British

:34:47. > :34:51.chances? Fifth in London, what kind of improvement could they hope to

:34:52. > :34:55.make? Hopefully they will do better than they did in London. But so far

:34:56. > :35:01.they have not quite come up to scratch. In fairness they are being

:35:02. > :35:07.compared to the men who have dazzled, Liam Heath and Jon

:35:08. > :35:11.Schofield. But we have a bit more expectations with this event and

:35:12. > :35:23.with the other women's events we have seen so far.

:35:24. > :35:32.Angela Hanna was the other member of the four and she is out and Rebeka

:35:33. > :35:36.Simon has come in. This is an event that has been dominated by Germany

:35:37. > :35:42.and Hungary. She was born in Hungary and is competing for the UK. Simon

:35:43. > :35:45.was also short listed for a BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year

:35:46. > :35:50.a couple of years ago, so she has got a bit of a pedigree to help this

:35:51. > :36:12.four and push on and do even better than they did in London.

:36:13. > :36:22.Great Britain are in lane six. I had a chat with Louisa's dad who turned

:36:23. > :36:28.up, and her brother as well. He is in the Navy, I don't know whether he

:36:29. > :36:33.got his boat diverted to Copacabana! He turned up and it was a surprise.

:36:34. > :36:37.Their initial aim is to make the finals. They have got two races per

:36:38. > :36:55.day, so they cannot afford to make any false starts. They are very much

:36:56. > :37:01.focused on this K four event. They are up against tough competition,

:37:02. > :37:08.the crew from Belarus and the crew from Poland, so it will be

:37:09. > :37:13.interesting to see you what tactics they adapt. Simon was a brilliant

:37:14. > :37:20.junior. New Zealand are next to them. New Zealand are on a high

:37:21. > :37:27.after their gold-medal came from Louisa Carrington. Argentina were

:37:28. > :37:34.18th in the World Championships. If they make it through to the a final,

:37:35. > :37:42.that will be a massive success. As they would say, Argentina has the

:37:43. > :37:43.best fans in the Olympics so far! It is fast and furious, just over the

:37:44. > :38:01.three market expected. Great Britain is in lane six. Great

:38:02. > :38:08.Britain once again getting a dreadful start. The initial start

:38:09. > :38:13.was OK, but they seem to have lost ground already. The Belarussians got

:38:14. > :38:17.out very fast. New Zealand have benefited from the extra funding

:38:18. > :38:28.that have come from Carrington's success.

:38:29. > :38:34.It is Belarus, New Zealand, Poland, the leading teams in the early

:38:35. > :38:39.stages. Now New Zealand are starting to turn it on. But they are still

:38:40. > :38:46.training, Belarus have the advantage. Great Britain are down in

:38:47. > :38:51.five or six at the moment. You can relax, everyone is going through to

:38:52. > :38:55.the semi, unless you win, and you go through to the final. It looks like

:38:56. > :39:01.that honour goes to Belarus who are starting to find their rhythm

:39:02. > :39:05.indeed. New Zealand have decided they are not going to get through,

:39:06. > :39:08.Destro great has gone down and they will not give it their all because

:39:09. > :39:16.they want to have something for the semifinals. A sensible tactic. Maybe

:39:17. > :39:23.they could have won it, but the risk was too high. You do not want to be

:39:24. > :39:27.pumping any muscles in the body with lactic acid at this stage when you

:39:28. > :39:33.have only got 56 minutes before you race again in the semifinals. Let's

:39:34. > :39:41.hope Great Britain were playing it tactically. I am not sure they are.

:39:42. > :39:47.Just unable to stay with the pace over the first 250 and then

:39:48. > :39:52.struggling from thereon in. They generally come back over their

:39:53. > :39:56.second 250, but if you want to be in touch, you cannot give away too

:39:57. > :40:01.much. They will be thinking about what they have done and they will be

:40:02. > :40:06.analysing and their coach will be looking at the stats and addressing

:40:07. > :40:11.what they might to do. But you don't want to change tactics too much

:40:12. > :40:15.because they will have practised it. The start wasn't too bad, they got

:40:16. > :40:22.out OK, but they lost a lot of ground over the first 100 metres.

:40:23. > :40:27.This is what they are after, beautiful symmetry, the power coming

:40:28. > :40:32.from the back two. The timing and the precision coming from those in

:40:33. > :40:37.front. New Zealand are looking good, Belarus looking even better. Jess

:40:38. > :40:50.Walker is from Teddington and paddles for the Royal Canoe club.

:40:51. > :40:55.Allanbridge club has produced a few champions in its days and I am sure

:40:56. > :40:59.those houses will be packed watching the action today. Fingers crossed

:41:00. > :41:11.that the British four can raise their levels in the semifinals in an

:41:12. > :41:19.hour's time. One more heat to go and we will be back to the semifinals.

:41:20. > :41:25.Any other positives we can draw from that first heat, Helen? The best

:41:26. > :41:33.thing about getting out there is that that is race. It is very

:41:34. > :41:38.different to the K-1. Jess said she was here for the K four and that is

:41:39. > :41:46.what they are here for. Hopefully they will have settled and next we

:41:47. > :41:50.will see a different crew. That is the first heat completed, one more

:41:51. > :41:56.heat to go. Then it will be straight on the semifinals. HAZEL: We will be

:41:57. > :42:01.back at about ten o'clock for the semifinals to see whether they can

:42:02. > :42:06.get through to the final. I do not know if you stayed up until half

:42:07. > :42:10.past two last night to see Jade Jones her Olympic title. An amazing

:42:11. > :42:15.performance, she never looked troubled through the whole

:42:16. > :42:19.competition, and became the 14th returning London hero to

:42:20. > :42:28.successfully defend her title out of the 20 who competed. Nicola Adams

:42:29. > :42:31.goes tomorrow. In taekwondo, we had the first British man in the sport

:42:32. > :42:37.to claim an Olympic medal in London four years ago.

:42:38. > :42:44.Going into your first Olympic Games in your hometown, you want it to be

:42:45. > :42:55.smooth sailing and compete and enjoy it, but I was under an enormous

:42:56. > :43:02.amount of pressure. He was selected over Aaron Cook. How did that

:43:03. > :43:05.political situation tenner? How difficult was that? There was a lot

:43:06. > :43:12.of stuff on social media and I shut it down. The newspapers and TV were

:43:13. > :43:19.not particularly positive about me. So, it was not nice to go in under

:43:20. > :43:24.that kind of pressure. We never had a relationship before London and I

:43:25. > :43:29.cannot say we have one now. It is the biggest rivalry in our sport, so

:43:30. > :43:36.I relish it. Anything could happen in Rio? We are on opposite sides of

:43:37. > :43:40.the draw, so we would meet in the final if we were to meet and that is

:43:41. > :43:45.incredibly exciting. I am going to do my job and he will do his. I

:43:46. > :43:52.remember very clearly being on the podium in London in 2012 with the

:43:53. > :43:57.gold medallist in front of me and I thought, I am going to have to wait

:43:58. > :44:00.four more years to get another opportunity. I am only going to Rio

:44:01. > :44:07.to win and I believe I will be successful. He is up at about

:44:08. > :44:11.quarter to two, but he did mention that controversy ahead of the London

:44:12. > :44:16.Olympic Games when he was selected instead of Aaron Cook, the world

:44:17. > :44:20.number one. Since then Aaron Cook has gone on to accept citizenship

:44:21. > :44:25.from Moldova and he now fights for Moldova and was invited to do so.

:44:26. > :44:31.Intriguingly they have been basically drawn to meet in the final

:44:32. > :44:35.today in this men's 80 K class. There is a lot of work before any

:44:36. > :44:40.confrontation between them, but I am sure it would be quite a fight where

:44:41. > :44:46.it to happen. We will be seeing the very first fight and he is up

:44:47. > :44:52.against an Australian. That is in his first round. Like Jade Jones,

:44:53. > :44:57.four fights is what you need to win in the competition to take gold. We

:44:58. > :44:59.are moving over onto BBC One for the rest of the afternoon and we will

:45:00. > :45:02.see you on the other side. You're coming across as, frankly,

:45:03. > :45:07.ridiculous. I'm flabbergasted by that.

:45:08. > :45:11.Will they get burnt...
