:00:00. > :00:17.And Skrela, she has four points in this game, from free throws. She's

:00:18. > :00:25.basically in this game for the defence, not the offence. Only 50%

:00:26. > :00:26.from the line overall in this tournament. Maybe she had some

:00:27. > :00:41.practice at half-time! Novakovich that was the third file.

:00:42. > :00:53.Novakovich may be going to the bench. -- that was the third foul.

:00:54. > :00:56.She played well after the disappointing performance in the

:00:57. > :01:01.semifinals to come out and pick it up again. She has been such a key

:01:02. > :01:09.figure for Serbia in the Olympic Games. She plays so actively. She

:01:10. > :01:28.has a great hook shot that she uses very well. This is Petra Fitch.

:01:29. > :01:37.Plays France's knocking the ball loose but cannot get possession. --

:01:38. > :01:58.that is twice that France has knocked the ball loose.

:01:59. > :02:10.35-33. Brilliant shot from Epoupa. She is really penetrating the

:02:11. > :02:17.Serbian defence. The Serbian intensity cannot handle how Epoupa

:02:18. > :02:25.drives. Page now finding her offensive game as well. Epoupa is

:02:26. > :02:35.the leading rebounder. She knows how to position herself. Petrovic

:02:36. > :02:43.controlled it nicely. Serbia go back on top. Great work by Petrovic. Both

:02:44. > :02:54.teams are still defending well. In this quarter the offences are

:02:55. > :03:01.firing. There was a link to the basket, but it was not

:03:02. > :03:21.-- not taken. We're half way through the third quarter.

:03:22. > :03:37.She draws the foul. Fans up by one. Half way through the third quarter.

:03:38. > :03:42.I felt that she had plenty of room near. The Serbian defence has been

:03:43. > :03:46.opened up. It was so intense, aggressive, and they are really

:03:47. > :03:57.pushing France hard. But they have found the way to the basket.

:03:58. > :04:07.The French line-up is moving quickly up and down the court.

:04:08. > :04:11.Halfway through the third quarter. France have their biggest lead of

:04:12. > :04:29.the game. Page went down. This will be a high-scoring quarter

:04:30. > :04:31.because both teams are over half of what they achieved in the previous

:04:32. > :04:48.two. Epoupa had a clean look at the

:04:49. > :05:32.basket, and the rebound came out. Petrovic putting more pressure on

:05:33. > :05:38.the French. She got the foul. France were on top, but in the last couple

:05:39. > :05:47.of minutes, Serbia have pushed hard. The outscoring France now.

:05:48. > :06:06.When they play set piece, they are forcing turnovers.

:06:07. > :06:17.The file will be on Epoupa for holding back Petrovic. Petrovic was

:06:18. > :06:25.gone. It would have been two points. They should have played on. This is

:06:26. > :06:27.exactly the reason the rule was brought in, I believe, for

:06:28. > :06:40.unsportsmanlike conduct. That was a certain two points that

:06:41. > :07:09.Epoupa stopped intentionally. Serbia will keep possession. She

:07:10. > :07:15.wants a time-out. She had just substituted Johannes in. They have

:07:16. > :07:18.fallen behind now. They had their best run of play in the game for

:07:19. > :07:50.about three minutes of that quarter. surprised that Yacoubou is not in.

:07:51. > :07:56.Serbia respect her too much -- have to respect. Serbia, the momentum had

:07:57. > :08:06.completely shifted towards them, so it was the right moment for a

:08:07. > :08:13.time-out. This was another key point for Serbia. Then Petrovic also

:08:14. > :08:16.provided an unstoppable insight. You're right about Yacoubou, she has

:08:17. > :08:18.to come out here for the last few minutes because we do not want

:08:19. > :08:48.Serbia to get too much of a lead. The signal came from across the

:08:49. > :08:57.court. The referee on that site did not signal. She had her foot on the

:08:58. > :09:05.line anyway. From our point it is hard to see where the fit is. To

:09:06. > :09:09.have this at this point in the game is looking good for the Serbian

:09:10. > :09:15.team. France have come from behind already. They were down ten in the

:09:16. > :09:36.first quarter. They came and took the lead.

:09:37. > :09:42.The rebound went to Petrovic. Yacoubou is already making a

:09:43. > :09:51.difference. Forcing the defence further back. Petrovic! This is just

:09:52. > :09:55.like the start of the game. Good defence but good shooting by Serbia.

:09:56. > :10:01.The quality of shooting is extraordinary. As soon as they make

:10:02. > :10:02.one, it seems like everyone in the team starts making them, and it

:10:03. > :10:23.builds confidence. It just missed the basket, and there

:10:24. > :10:36.goes my theory about the different size of baskets.

:10:37. > :10:50.Another turnover. Under two minutes to play in this quarter.

:10:51. > :11:01.Yacoubou knocked it away and put her hands behind her back. As if she

:11:02. > :11:07.felt guilty about it. Serbia and looking good. They turned it on at

:11:08. > :11:11.an important moment in the game. It looked like France were getting on

:11:12. > :11:17.top. The shooting from Serbia has been fantastic. What a performer.

:11:18. > :11:33.Page always delivers. Defensively excellent.

:11:34. > :11:46.It is catch and shoot, basically. There it is.

:11:47. > :12:14.1.5 minutes to go. A good chance to give Page arrest. -- eight breast.

:12:15. > :12:19.-- rest. Almost three within that period, the Serbian defences

:12:20. > :12:25.overplaying the ball and getting away with it constantly because they

:12:26. > :12:34.are overplaying the second pass as well. This time they have done it

:12:35. > :12:38.with Yacoubou out there. The pressure when they receive the ball

:12:39. > :12:46.was extraordinary. That is what is giving them so many possessions.

:12:47. > :13:01.Epoupa is having arrest. Under one minute to play.

:13:02. > :13:13.She was so quick to pass the ball. She had so much time. They could

:13:14. > :13:14.have worked it. France just cannot see it coming, they cannot seem to

:13:15. > :13:42.adjust. Another foul. The Serbians have not

:13:43. > :13:48.given away too many fouls in this quarter, despite the pressure. The

:13:49. > :13:54.French started making foul shots as the Serbians stopped. At very good

:13:55. > :14:09.point. I do not know of that is intentional!

:14:10. > :14:24.Page had about a minute breast. I thought she would sit out, but she

:14:25. > :14:34.does not. She says, that is all I need!

:14:35. > :14:55.Interesting that during the time-outs Milovanovic translates for

:14:56. > :14:58.Page. That is a big basket for France, they have been able to do

:14:59. > :15:00.nothing offensively in the last two minutes of the quarter. That was bad

:15:01. > :15:20.defence. And Johannes! Off the boards. The

:15:21. > :15:22.score at the end of three quarters, 55-42, Serbia with a commanding

:15:23. > :15:32.lead. STUDIO

:15:33. > :15:39.So, the third quarter went Serbia's way, as did the fourth. They went on

:15:40. > :15:45.to win that one by 70 points to 63 and Serbia get themselves onto the

:15:46. > :15:47.medal podium. They will be joined by USA and Spain, who play the

:15:48. > :15:56.gold-medal match a little bit later on. That is the end of the

:15:57. > :16:02.basketball. Things have got a little bit drizzly here at the Olympic

:16:03. > :16:06.Park, which is drizzly but we won't be disappointed on my last day. I'm

:16:07. > :16:16.just going to take in these views of the limbic Park one more time. The

:16:17. > :16:22.Aquatic Centre, Cariocas, the Velodrome, what memories we had

:16:23. > :16:28.there, and Rio 2016 has been a huge joy to do. -- the Olympic Park. A

:16:29. > :16:36.huge thank you to Tim, Josh, James, Alan, don't leave me hanging! Alan,

:16:37. > :16:41.it's been an absolute pleasure. Dan Walker, I know it's your last show

:16:42. > :16:48.here at Rio 2016. Keep the tissues handy! No time to say goodbye yet,

:16:49. > :16:54.we've got hours and hours until two o'clock in the morning. It must be

:16:55. > :16:57.very difficult to deal with when things are happening behind you

:16:58. > :17:01.which you can't quite see! May be a bit more of that later on. Thank you

:17:02. > :17:05.very much. We are with you on BBC Four until two o'clock in the

:17:06. > :17:09.morning. It's our final day on the beach and we have got loads to pack

:17:10. > :17:13.in. We will try to revisit some of the moments you have enjoyed over

:17:14. > :17:15.the past two weeks of these Olympic Games, and we have all this on the

:17:16. > :17:25.way. Can Brazil win the gold they want

:17:26. > :17:29.more than any other? The men's football final between Brazil and

:17:30. > :17:35.Germany. The host nation have never won gold in this event. The American

:17:36. > :17:42.women have won five golds in a row in the basketball. Cancer

:17:43. > :17:50.-- can Spain spring a surprise? Finals night in the men's water polo

:17:51. > :17:57.too, Croatia and Serbia will both be going for gold. And it is final day

:17:58. > :18:04.of the women's volleyball. Repair for some spiky action as the medals

:18:05. > :18:07.are sorted out. Let's have a look at the timetable for this evening, as

:18:08. > :18:15.we stare across the Copacabana once more. Basketball 7:30pm, USA against

:18:16. > :18:19.Spain. On BBC One, the final of the men's ten-metre platform diving.

:18:20. > :18:29.Sadly Tom Daley not involved in that. Tae kwon do, the 80 kilograms

:18:30. > :18:34.quarterfinal is at 8:15pm. And Bianca Walkden, Jade Jones's

:18:35. > :18:42.flatmate, at 8:30pm. The first half of the men's gold-medal match

:18:43. > :18:49.between Brazil and Germany at 9:30pm. Last night Rio went wild

:18:50. > :18:52.again as Usain Bolt became the triple, triple Olympic champion,

:18:53. > :19:00.winning the four by one relay to add to the 200 and 100 relay here in

:19:01. > :19:04.Rio. They absolutely love him here. Tonight we have a man who could do

:19:05. > :19:09.the double double. You all know his name. It's Mo Farah.

:19:10. > :19:20.The 5000 and 10,000 metre longest journeys of the track. Lap after

:19:21. > :19:27.lap, again and again. Names that sit in the memory, Bekele, Haile Gebre

:19:28. > :19:35.Selassie, it appeared so simple to all of them but that these is a lie.

:19:36. > :19:40.With that fluent keys in the race itself comes pain. Even those greats

:19:41. > :19:45.had limits. Only one other man has before done the double double. Come

:19:46. > :19:54.through that pain to success on the other side. And then four years

:19:55. > :20:01.later, he did it again. COMMENTATOR: Viren defends the title

:20:02. > :20:10.again! They are not going to beat him! The flying Finn of the 1970s of

:20:11. > :20:15.me and Dec space Munich and Montreal. And now, now there is

:20:16. > :20:21.more. Trying to match the feet of Viren and earning comparisons with

:20:22. > :20:26.the best of the past. But how to compare two men 40 years apart? Was

:20:27. > :20:31.Viren's feat grades are having to pass through sapping heat before he

:20:32. > :20:36.could race for gold over two distances. And Mo Farah already has

:20:37. > :20:41.a double double, of world titles, but that is a prize created after

:20:42. > :20:46.Viren's time. So don't compare, simply admire. With the very best,

:20:47. > :20:53.we perhaps lose our perspective. Too much success and it is diminished.

:20:54. > :20:59.More somehow makes it less. But remember the line, this is never

:21:00. > :21:04.easy. Only near the end, when the prize is near, do we see that mask

:21:05. > :21:11.slip, and the pain and effort that lies beneath. The effort that brings

:21:12. > :21:14.Mo Farah close to Viren in the past and Olympic gold again and again,

:21:15. > :21:28.one more time. 1:30am your time back in the UK over

:21:29. > :21:32.on BBC One. You can see if Mo Farah can add to the goal he already has

:21:33. > :21:35.in these games, and can hit repeat the amazing feat of a double

:21:36. > :21:40.gold-medal four years ago in London? The great hopes from a Team GB

:21:41. > :21:44.perspective for Tom Daley as well. Already a bronze-medallist in these

:21:45. > :21:48.Olympic Games and he was trying to do something from the ten-metre

:21:49. > :21:52.platform individually. Yesterday there were the preliminaries and it

:21:53. > :21:57.looked so hopeful. We saw him on BBC Four. His best performance in a long

:21:58. > :21:59.time and today it was that any final. This will be described for us

:22:00. > :22:09.by Leon Taylor and Bob Ballard. COMMENTATOR: The men's semifinal of

:22:10. > :22:13.the ten-metre platform. The first dive for Tom Daley, the man who led

:22:14. > :22:20.for four out of six rounds in the preliminaries. Not as good as

:22:21. > :22:24.yesterday but it is good enough. I would like to see him not quite as

:22:25. > :22:30.good in this semifinal. I want to see him good, diving well, but just

:22:31. > :22:36.backing off the gas. Round two, let's see what he can do with this

:22:37. > :22:40.3.6 dive. Oh! It's not unusual to see an error on this, this is his

:22:41. > :22:47.newest dive, not the rotational speed he's used to, drops a bit like

:22:48. > :22:51.a stone. On to round three and if this goes well, he will rocket up

:22:52. > :23:03.the standings. Tom needs to get moving. No. Not yet. He is way off

:23:04. > :23:17.the standings at the moment. Round four. He is 18th, Tom Daley. 18th of

:23:18. > :23:20.18. He scored 103 in the prelims. This is not as good but it is an

:23:21. > :23:28.improvement and that is what we want to see. 18 points he has to make up

:23:29. > :23:33.to get back into the top 12. It is achievable but it is going to take

:23:34. > :23:38.some doing. OK, the reparation job has do start here and has to start

:23:39. > :23:43.with this. Yesterday he got tens on this dive. Tom Daley, to get himself

:23:44. > :23:47.out of the mire. That's going to help. That's going to help a lot.

:23:48. > :23:57.But we are still way in the danger zone. So, here we go with round six.

:23:58. > :24:03.Final round of the semifinal. Tom Daley, it's down to you. Do you have

:24:04. > :24:12.what it takes to get 101 points, to get level 12th. The biggest dive of

:24:13. > :24:17.your life. Right now. No. That's it. Unbelievable. He did not predict

:24:18. > :24:23.this. Tom Daley winning by a country mile yesterday. Today at the

:24:24. > :24:27.semifinals, not making it through. What an awful date out there for

:24:28. > :24:32.Tom. Of course, and Olympic bronze-medallist in the sink with

:24:33. > :24:36.Dan Goodfellow, no one can take that away from him, but he will be

:24:37. > :24:40.devastated. Tom Daley finishes in 18th place, what a reversal of

:24:41. > :24:45.fortunes, yesterday the best and today the worst.

:24:46. > :24:50.Commiserations, Tom. We can see what it means to you. Great day

:24:51. > :24:55.yesterday, wasn't quite kicking today, what happened? I've worked so

:24:56. > :25:00.hard these past four years to get to this point today. Yesterday I got an

:25:01. > :25:03.Olympic record. The highest score in an Olympic Games. Today it just

:25:04. > :25:08.wasn't meant to be and that is just what diving does sometimes. I truly

:25:09. > :25:12.am heartbroken because I really feel like I am in the peak physical

:25:13. > :25:15.condition and I could really go out there and I could have won tonight.

:25:16. > :25:21.It's really, really hard to accept what happened today. Your team-mates

:25:22. > :25:24.would argue that this is the most stressful sport, the most high

:25:25. > :25:28.pressure. Add to that your profile and the expectation. What is going

:25:29. > :25:32.through your head when you get up on the board? When I get up on the

:25:33. > :25:36.board I'm completely present in the moment and enjoying each moment as I

:25:37. > :25:40.get to do it. But today, things just want clicking. I was giving it my

:25:41. > :25:42.all and I was ready up for it. Training was re-good. In the

:25:43. > :25:57.competition it just fell apart. Those other guys do they did

:25:58. > :26:00.absolutely amazing. I'm so happy with the way that Team GB have done

:26:01. > :26:03.in these Olympic Games. It makes me so proud to be part of Team GB and

:26:04. > :26:06.how everyone else has done amazingly well. I just wanted to replicate

:26:07. > :26:12.some of last night but it wasn't meant to be. Was there anything

:26:13. > :26:17.different today? I felt good in myself, I guess my mind and body

:26:18. > :26:22.weren't connecting. I knew that I had a shot on the last dive if I

:26:23. > :26:28.really went after it. I needed 102, I was working out, which was

:26:29. > :26:32.basically 9.5s and tens, and I gave it my all but it just didn't happen

:26:33. > :26:35.today. But it did happen last week, you've already got a bronze medal

:26:36. > :26:40.from these Olympics, so not a write-off by any stretch of the

:26:41. > :26:44.imagination! Successful in that sense. You know what, I am happy.

:26:45. > :26:49.After 2012 I came away with the bronze medal and now I've got a

:26:50. > :26:53.bronze medal in synchro with Dan. I just wanted to get that Olympic Gold

:26:54. > :26:59.Medal this time around. But there's always another four years. So Tokyo

:27:00. > :27:04.is definitely in your sites? Tokyo is definitely my sites, more than

:27:05. > :27:08.ever now! Tom, you've done so much for the profile of the sport and you

:27:09. > :27:11.have an army of fans and rightly so. I can see why you're upset but

:27:12. > :27:15.there's no reason to be too heartbroken. Wang Q. It's just

:27:16. > :27:19.heartbreaking because it's the Olympic Games and those five rings

:27:20. > :27:23.on the wall mean so much to me. To be not in the final to get the shot

:27:24. > :27:31.to go for that medal, it's just heartbreaking. It's a good story,

:27:32. > :27:34.isn't it, for Tokyo? You know films, give it an even better narrative!

:27:35. > :27:38.I'm going to give it my best shot and work even harder than ever

:27:39. > :27:41.before. Another one of those interviews, really difficult to

:27:42. > :27:45.watch, just like Lutalo Muhammad yesterday. He is trying to smile and

:27:46. > :27:49.deal with it, trying his best to deal with it and we just hope that

:27:50. > :27:53.Tom Daley can come back and perform again on the lead big stage. We will

:27:54. > :27:57.keep an eye on him over the next few days and hopefully get more reaction

:27:58. > :28:02.the days after he has not managed to qualify for the final of the diving.

:28:03. > :28:06.For every story of triumph and disaster, we will probably see Tom

:28:07. > :28:14.Daley in Tokyo in four years' time, there is a story like Mo Farah. He

:28:15. > :28:19.won his Gold Medal to add to the two that he won in London four years

:28:20. > :28:23.ago. These two, mother and daughter, were there. What was it like?

:28:24. > :28:28.Absolutely fantastic. We've been lucky enough to see him run in World

:28:29. > :28:32.Championships. We didn't get to see him run in London, so it was

:28:33. > :28:36.fantastic to see him over here. Adelaide is 14 and what number

:28:37. > :28:43.Olympic Games is this for you? It is my fourth! Your first one was at the

:28:44. > :28:49.age of two? Yes, I went to Athens, Beijing, London and now Rio. So, of

:28:50. > :28:55.those four Olympic Games, can you remember what happened at the age of

:28:56. > :28:59.two? Not really! I get the feeling your mum is trying to drag you into

:29:00. > :29:03.the Olympic experience, is that what it's all about, Tracy? When you

:29:04. > :29:06.watch someone who has prepared for years in a sporting endeavour, it

:29:07. > :29:10.teaches you a lot about striving to reach a goal and I think that is

:29:11. > :29:13.really important for them. As well as being on holiday, they are being

:29:14. > :29:16.people who have worked really hard to achieve what they want to

:29:17. > :29:21.achieve, so it's a good life lesson as well. I've also heard that you

:29:22. > :29:25.are the British family that gave Mo Farah his flag after he won gold the

:29:26. > :29:30.other night in the 10,000 metres. You haven't got it back? We haven't

:29:31. > :29:34.got it back! At the World Championship last year the women's

:29:35. > :29:38.4x400 metres asked for our flag and I was appalled because our flag was

:29:39. > :29:42.filthy, it was at the end of the session, it had ice cream and

:29:43. > :29:48.sweat... Don't tell me you prepare it, did you wash it it just in case?

:29:49. > :29:52.I've watched our spare one this morning in case we have the same

:29:53. > :29:55.incident again, because it's the end of the Olympics, our flag is filthy,

:29:56. > :30:00.so we've watched it again just in case Mo Farah blacks

:30:01. > :30:11.-- Mo Farah asks for our flag! We're now down to two, if he asks for one,

:30:12. > :30:14.we have got it! This is very careful planning. Adelaide, have you got the

:30:15. > :30:23.same seeds as the other night? I don't think so. At your near enough

:30:24. > :30:26.to throw a flag! Yeah! We will make sure we're close enough to throw the

:30:27. > :30:32.flag. I can see the determined look in your eyes. All mums can be

:30:33. > :30:40.embarrassing at times, Adelaide, we know this. Yak a lot!

:30:41. > :30:49.Is there anything written on your flag? It is the athletics club flag,

:30:50. > :30:54.and that is hanging, and we will throw a Team GB flag of get the

:30:55. > :30:58.chance. We will watch out for you tonight. Enjoy your time on the

:30:59. > :31:02.beach and the athletics tonight. We will take you over to basketball. As

:31:03. > :31:07.promised we will bring you USA against Spain in the gold-medal

:31:08. > :31:22.match. I will hand you over to the commentators.

:31:23. > :32:02.This strategy, it is kind of football orientated. Good defensive

:32:03. > :32:38.intensity. Charles gets the past. That one will go out of bounds. For

:32:39. > :32:39.the United States they are already getting offensively bands. Spain

:32:40. > :33:07.have got to keep an eye on this. The referee was having a word with

:33:08. > :33:11.the officials, who signalled 2-1. The US keep possession. Bird did not

:33:12. > :33:20.step out. The referee was checking something with the scorer bench.

:33:21. > :33:44.Nichols is fighting for position against Griner. Spain got exactly

:33:45. > :33:50.what they needed in the opening minute and a half. And I wondered if

:33:51. > :34:10.the United States have ever gone this long without scoring in a game!

:34:11. > :34:31.Excuse me, Taurasi pushed. If you're going to play like this, you can put

:34:32. > :34:53.in as much effort as you can, but she does it all.

:34:54. > :35:00.Charles Hecht. 5-2. 2.5 gone in the first period. Charles is wearing a

:35:01. > :35:22.protective shield for her nose. It was too high. It will go to the

:35:23. > :35:27.United States. She turned to her team-mate and said you need to move.

:35:28. > :35:41.To get the passing going, there has to be movement. Torrens will be

:35:42. > :35:54.called for the foul. United States are starting to get into the rhythm.

:35:55. > :36:12.Torrens and Bird are team-mates. That shot by Charles was way short.

:36:13. > :36:26.That has to be reset of the clock. That can be reviewed under the new

:36:27. > :36:32.rules. No question, it hit the ring. But no, it goes to Spain. United

:36:33. > :36:38.States at dominating the fence aboard right now. They have been

:36:39. > :36:53.given some chances. -- dominating defence.

:36:54. > :37:03.No violation this time. The referee is very quick. As soon as they see

:37:04. > :37:06.any hand going in there, the whistle blows. Luckily for the United States

:37:07. > :37:26.they were not really heard by that call on the 24 second.

:37:27. > :37:32.Torrens got the foul. She had to drag it along. That is the president

:37:33. > :37:41.of the IOC, sitting with Adam Silver, the commissioner of the

:37:42. > :37:45.basketball Association in the US. Driving into traffic. The United

:37:46. > :37:48.States have a big height advantage, but this is how you get around it,

:37:49. > :37:56.put up these efforts. She's shielding the ball with her body.

:37:57. > :38:07.Four minutes gone in the first feeding -- period. She looked as if

:38:08. > :38:16.to say, how can you even think they would call a foul on me? It Spain

:38:17. > :38:30.can keep this law, they have a real opportunity.

:38:31. > :38:41.The United States have only shot less than 100 points on two

:38:42. > :38:54.occasions, and that was against France and Canada, and the French

:38:55. > :38:58.pushed them early on. Griner gets it, and this thing she gets the

:38:59. > :39:03.foul. There was nobody between her and the basket. That is the

:39:04. > :39:14.difficulty for Spain, when you have Griner who stands at 638, and the

:39:15. > :39:19.other is six foot five, Ndour, you just do not have that reach. -- when

:39:20. > :39:41.she is six. A foul on Charles. Spain cannot let

:39:42. > :39:44.this deter them. They have to keep putting pressure on the United

:39:45. > :40:10.States when they can. It has been going all right for them so far.

:40:11. > :40:18.Not many teams have led against the United States, and when they have

:40:19. > :40:21.they have been unable to finish. Spain at least have this lead, it is

:40:22. > :40:30.whether they can keep it consistent for the rest of the game.

:40:31. > :40:36.The pass goes beyond Tina Charles's reach. Spain get the ball back just

:40:37. > :41:03.under five minutes to play. Fouled, but I think it went off

:41:04. > :41:06.Bird's fit. A really nice move from Nichols to play it off her opponent.

:41:07. > :41:47.There was nothing else she could do. The file will be on Nichols, who

:41:48. > :41:55.looked to have a good piece of the ball. -- the foul. The only thing

:41:56. > :41:58.Spain will want to improve on as the rebound. Aside from that they are

:41:59. > :42:00.looking really good. If they keep getting the United States second and

:42:01. > :42:14.third attempts, they will punish them. No question about the foul.

:42:15. > :42:23.But she is not the best shooter. They can hear me, I think! They want

:42:24. > :42:26.to prove me wrong. She is the weakest shooter, but that shows how

:42:27. > :42:31.strong the United States are, she is at 61%. And she misses. Spain kept

:42:32. > :42:43.it in. In international basketball you are

:42:44. > :42:53.allowed to sit on the player who is on the floor. Does actually say

:42:54. > :42:57.that? It does not say it, I'm judging by what has happened so far.

:42:58. > :42:58.The possession was with the United States. That will alternate through

:42:59. > :43:16.possessions. She got it back to her. That was not

:43:17. > :43:29.the easiest way, but it worked. It has been taped quarter. That was a

:43:30. > :43:38.beauty. The pass from Palau was outstanding. Bird Nichols is really

:43:39. > :43:56.working hard. -- Nichols is really working hard. Charles went straight

:43:57. > :44:03.into it. Bumped into it. Fowles, I should say. The Spanish are playing

:44:04. > :44:09.tough. They are being physical here, and you have two against the United

:44:10. > :44:27.States team full stop adding excessively, but they have.

:44:28. > :44:44.-- I did not know they could play so aggressively, they have Dominguez

:44:45. > :44:57.has just come into the game. A deliberate but not unsportsmanlike

:44:58. > :45:00.foul. It is two shots at the line. I'm not sure that Rodriguez

:45:01. > :45:16.recognised that. The United States are not shooting

:45:17. > :45:25.as well as you would expect them to coming in here. Dirty 1%. She ran

:45:26. > :45:41.the court beautifully. Spain again takes the lead. Three mostly. The US

:45:42. > :45:55.will get the possession. They are living up to those expectations full

:45:56. > :46:15.of from Ndour. Just over three to play in the quarter.

:46:16. > :46:23.About four blocks to Spain, and zero for the United States. You might

:46:24. > :46:32.have thought that statistic was wrong, or the other way around.

:46:33. > :46:40.Ndour at the foul line, and that goes through, 14-12. This has been a

:46:41. > :46:43.great first quarter for Spain. The way they have approached this game,

:46:44. > :46:44.it has been a really good plan, and they are putting pressure on the

:46:45. > :46:56.United States. She picked up the foul. She was

:46:57. > :47:21.doing well, Ndour. Lots of contact. And the problem for Spain, of

:47:22. > :47:34.course, is that lack of depth. Gil is a decent centre. Not as mobile as

:47:35. > :47:40.Ndour. Makes the first one, della Donna. She can tie up the game with

:47:41. > :47:47.the second. And does. We are tied at 14, 2.19 to play in the first

:47:48. > :47:51.quarter. Spain are probably going to give away a lot of fouls and the

:47:52. > :47:58.Americans are strong from the foul line. For three... That was her

:47:59. > :48:04.spot! She was looking for her spot and found it at 17-14, to Spain.

:48:05. > :48:08.Spain are on in this game and you have to be on against the United

:48:09. > :48:14.States. Spain are on in this game, so far anyway.

:48:15. > :48:28.17-16. And now the bodies have crashed down and that is going to be

:48:29. > :48:42.a blocking foul on Nicholls, as Macau tree -- as McCouightry went

:48:43. > :48:52.down. She was moving and she had the hip out. Just her eyes caused the

:48:53. > :49:06.foul, I think! A minute and 35, Spain leading by one. Della Donna.

:49:07. > :49:13.Whalen. Now the second cutter, the foul is called for travelling. Well,

:49:14. > :49:19.Spain are doing a remarkable job here. It was maybe a tough call on

:49:20. > :49:24.fouls, but it is the pressure coming. They're doing well, the

:49:25. > :49:30.Spanish. Two as no fouls for the Laura Nicholls. That is one thing to

:49:31. > :49:42.keep in mind, they can't allow too many fouls because it could put them

:49:43. > :49:50.out of the game. Pask -- Pascua is in and she takes the rebound. The

:49:51. > :49:56.whistle went a bit earlier. The Minghella is picked up the foul

:49:57. > :50:07.there. -- Dominguez picked up the foul there. Lost her balance but

:50:08. > :50:12.there it was. Whalen at the foul line now, just under a minute to

:50:13. > :50:19.play. And she misses the first shot. Coming into this one has that's were

:50:20. > :50:25.at 80% -- the USA's stats were 80% from the foul line, but struggling a

:50:26. > :50:29.bit here. I keep saying that about this arena! You don't believe me,

:50:30. > :50:33.but I keep saying it! We are all tied again at 17 with just under a

:50:34. > :50:42.minute to play. Dominguez brings the ball up for Spain. Floater is short

:50:43. > :50:51.and will rebound to Tina Charles. Pushes it up to McCoughtry.

:50:52. > :50:55.McCoughtry lays it in. 19-17. Sometimes they make it look easy.

:50:56. > :51:00.You can't allow it to happen too often. They're going to have to make

:51:01. > :51:05.United States work for every basket. But for Spain, it is a question of,

:51:06. > :51:14.how long can they keep it up for? Gil! And Gil hit the front of the

:51:15. > :51:22.rim as she went through the centre of the pain, and now holding for the

:51:23. > :51:25.last shot. Other teams all had good first quarters against the United

:51:26. > :51:31.States but they couldn't carry on with it, and that has to be the

:51:32. > :51:33.objective for Spain. McCoughtry is fouled by Pascua, with four seconds

:51:34. > :51:42.left in the quarter. The fouls have really mounted up for

:51:43. > :51:47.Spain. I think they've been fairly spread, but they have to be careful.

:51:48. > :51:58.Especially their key players, that they're not committing to many. It

:51:59. > :52:03.is 9-3 on the fouls. The US is not taking advantage of it completely,

:52:04. > :52:09.right now they are five from ten on free throws, very uncharacteristic.

:52:10. > :52:16.Make that six from 11. You would expect that to improve. Dominguez

:52:17. > :52:20.comes down quickly, March is the two hander and Mrs high on the glass. A

:52:21. > :52:28.late bucket and a couple of fouls shots that the US up by four at the

:52:29. > :52:31.end of the quarter, but basically Spain has come out and played very

:52:32. > :52:36.aggressively and what has been really oppressive is the great play

:52:37. > :52:37.they have got from Ndour and Nicholls, exactly who they needed to

:52:38. > :52:43.play well. We're going to rejoin that soon, but

:52:44. > :52:46.a break between the two quarters. It is

:52:47. > :52:57.-- it is day 15 and here are the headlines so far. Great news for

:52:58. > :53:01.Nicola Adams, she has retained her medal in the women's flyweight in

:53:02. > :53:08.the boxing, the first reduce bugs to do that in 92 years. -- the first

:53:09. > :53:14.British boxer to do that. Liam Heath has won his second Gold Medal of

:53:15. > :53:26.these games, with gold in the men's canoe, or kayak. Vicky Holland

:53:27. > :53:31.claimed a bronze medal for Team GB as Jorgensen took gold in the

:53:32. > :53:36.triathlon for USA. We've heard from Tom Daley today, qualifying for the

:53:37. > :53:39.semifinal in first place, but just couldn't get it to work today and

:53:40. > :53:45.did not make the final of the ten-metre platform. And we've shown

:53:46. > :53:50.you plenty of golf in the past few days. Inbee Park of South Korea is

:53:51. > :53:54.the Olympic Golf Course be in. 16-under par, winning by five shots.

:53:55. > :53:56.Charley Hull, good performance from her over the four days. She finished

:53:57. > :54:06.joint seventh. Let's bring you some live body

:54:07. > :54:11.boarding down here from Copacabana. Normally we only show you the sea

:54:12. > :54:19.when it is dark. There are some kids out there despite the red flag

:54:20. > :54:25.saying no swimming! Shall we try one more wave? We saw a wipe-out for one

:54:26. > :54:31.lady last night! What a disappointment. That's probably some

:54:32. > :54:36.of the worst body boarding we've seen, and unfortunately that is the

:54:37. > :54:40.only bit we've brought you live on BBC Four! We will try and record

:54:41. > :54:44.some and bring it to you later. We will also try and bring you some of

:54:45. > :54:48.the best bits we've enjoyed down here on the beach. We will try and

:54:49. > :54:53.tidy that up a bit later on but right now, back to the live sport,

:54:54. > :54:57.back to the basketball. USA against Spain, 4-point lead at the start of

:54:58. > :55:06.the second quarter. 48 match unbeaten run 14 USA's women. Let's

:55:07. > :55:11.see what Spain can do. Vitor and Mike Can talk us through it.

:55:12. > :55:26.COMMENTATOR: Bird, for three... It is 24-17. If United States can get

:55:27. > :55:41.their 3-point shooting going, it will really relieve some of the

:55:42. > :55:47.pressure. The foul on the outside. I'm a little surprised they got two

:55:48. > :56:00.points in there. Dominguez is a spark kind of player.

:56:01. > :56:12.Cruz hands it off to Xargay. Nicholls goes into the basket,

:56:13. > :56:20.24-19. Excuse me, that was Xargay laying it in. Great hustle. She has

:56:21. > :56:25.been Spain's best player so far, contributing at both ends of the

:56:26. > :56:33.court. Great stuff from Ndour. The whistle, the call will be on

:56:34. > :56:39.McCoughtry. Spain knew that they had to up that part of their game, the

:56:40. > :56:48.rebound is. They have done well to box McCoughtry out there and make

:56:49. > :56:54.sure that Ndour got it. The previous effort from Xargay, it just opened

:56:55. > :56:56.up and she went straight through the gap. The foul was on McCoughtry,

:56:57. > :57:21.being pushed over by Xargay. Xargay gets the ball. Nice move. Off

:57:22. > :57:32.the glass, Charles with the rebound to Bird. Nicholls came up too

:57:33. > :57:39.quickly. Ndour got enough of her to keep her from getting the shot she

:57:40. > :57:43.wanted. Ndour is such a pivotal figure for Spain. Causing real

:57:44. > :57:46.trouble for the United States and as long as Spain can keep doing this,

:57:47. > :57:50.they are still in the game. There are only five points behind.

:57:51. > :57:54.Defensively, she and Nicholls are doing a great job of keeping them a

:57:55. > :58:03.bit further from the basket that they want to be. Into the game early

:58:04. > :58:10.is Stuart, and it is 24-21, as Torrens comes back into the game and

:58:11. > :58:18.immediately makes her presence felt. Bird and Moore got their wires

:58:19. > :58:23.crossed. And Breanna Stewart with the turnover. This is lastly

:58:24. > :58:28.different from the way that the teams played in the group stage,

:58:29. > :58:33.because that was a blow out to the United States, but Spain are well in

:58:34. > :58:37.this. Nicholls missed everything, and Bird to Stuart.

:58:38. > :58:45.Look at coach Mondello, he nearly ran into her because he was on the

:58:46. > :58:54.edge of the court! And then she was signalled for travelling. But in the

:58:55. > :59:02.meantime, Stewart's pass and it is 27-21.

:59:03. > :59:12.Ndour, for three. And she hits that! She is doing it all, Ndour! What a

:59:13. > :59:16.game she is having. Knocking down threes, defending brilliantly.

:59:17. > :59:26.Fantastic performance. She's keeping her side in this! 27-24. Moore takes

:59:27. > :59:31.the past, feeds it into Stewart, she is fouled by Dorrans.

:59:32. > :59:42.I think Spain would prefer this foul to be on Ndour, and it is an Ndour.

:59:43. > :59:46.Third personal. This is a concern for Spain. They may have to bring

:59:47. > :59:50.her off, because just one more foul left, they can ill afford for their

:59:51. > :59:54.best player so far to have to go off. When she gets the fourth foul,

:59:55. > :00:01.she then has to play very conservatively. Ndour with five

:00:02. > :00:07.points, only two rebound is but the work she has been doing is more

:00:08. > :00:10.important than that. Stewart, three-time college Player of the

:00:11. > :00:17.Year in the last three seasons. She makes both shots.

:00:18. > :00:26.It had to happen for Spain. When do you bring Ndour on again? At the end

:00:27. > :00:32.of the half? They will have to see how they are playing. Ideally,

:00:33. > :00:47.they'd want to sit until the third quarter. But it is a huge loss.

:00:48. > :00:59.Taurasi has called for a foul. I thought she thought it was called on

:01:00. > :01:03.her because the official pointed to her. I couldn't understand how she

:01:04. > :01:11.could call for a foul. But that is what she gestured, so I was just

:01:12. > :01:19.listening to her. But that is the team's third foul. Just settling

:01:20. > :01:27.into the basket. She is so strong from the area. She makes Spain's job

:01:28. > :01:32.of defending so difficult. Time out for Spain. There is a decision to be

:01:33. > :01:39.made. They need Ndour out there to stay with this US team. Obviously,

:01:40. > :01:43.she picks up the fourth foul and she will have to be very cautious with

:01:44. > :01:45.her play, but still aggressive to stay with the US. Tough decision

:01:46. > :02:39.coming up for the coach. That was Torrens looking for her

:02:40. > :02:43.spot for the three. She is honoured two and a very good scream from

:02:44. > :02:52.Ndour. This is Ndour battling with Tina Charles. Eight points is the

:02:53. > :02:54.difference. I think that is as big lead the United States have had so

:02:55. > :03:02.far. Leticia Romero, the 21-year-old, is

:03:03. > :03:39.still playing in college in the US. Another three. Two in a row from

:03:40. > :03:48.Diana Taurasi, opens up an 11 point lead over Spain.

:03:49. > :03:58.It's coincidental that Taurasi has started to play like this as soon as

:03:59. > :04:02.Ndour comes off. But it is the brilliance of Taurasi and when you

:04:03. > :04:05.have a play like that on your team, it really makes a difference. The

:04:06. > :04:14.United States are really taking control. Bird comes out. Lindsay

:04:15. > :04:42.Whalen comes in. One thing Whalen does that Bird

:04:43. > :04:58.doesn't is penetrate directly. She's a little bit more aggressive.

:04:59. > :05:06.Stewart is called for travelling. That is the third one. Charles'

:05:07. > :05:10.position is making life difficult for Spain. That basket before from

:05:11. > :05:16.the United States, that is where Ndour would have maybe made things

:05:17. > :05:19.more difficult for the US. Like you say, Whalen likes to penetrate

:05:20. > :05:26.through and drive through but Ndour was actually keeping her fairly

:05:27. > :05:45.quiet. The question, she lost her challenge.

:05:46. > :05:52.It is out off McCoughtry. Four minutes to play in the first half.

:05:53. > :05:57.The US are up by 13. Spain's edge has gone blunt in the last few

:05:58. > :06:01.minutes. The United States are taking control of this. Spain need

:06:02. > :06:06.to get back in the contest. The problem for Spain is obvious. They

:06:07. > :06:10.don't have the bench strength. Ndour committed three fouls and they don't

:06:11. > :06:26.have another big player who can play at this level.

:06:27. > :06:35.Stewart tries to save it as it goes out of bounds and Spain will put it

:06:36. > :06:38.in. The first quarter, I think they would have scored that basket.

:06:39. > :06:46.Things aren't going right for Spain and it's really difficult. To beat

:06:47. > :06:59.this US team, you have to be consistent without.

:07:00. > :07:07.She's worked so hard, Nicholls. She is having to do it mostly by

:07:08. > :07:41.herself. Now she goes right back to defend.

:07:42. > :07:49.No basket but Nicholls with the foul. Could be trouble for Nicholls

:07:50. > :07:54.is because she might be on three personal fouls, too. This is the

:07:55. > :07:58.importance of her role. Getting the offensive rebound, putting it back

:07:59. > :08:08.in. It is the third personal phone calls. This is inevitable. They are

:08:09. > :08:21.both having to work so hard against women who are taller, and giving it

:08:22. > :08:31.away, and in Ndour' case, Biggar. That came off the arm. Maya Moore

:08:32. > :08:35.getting contact at the line and the United States are looking strong

:08:36. > :08:39.heading towards the end of the first half. The problem for Spain as that

:08:40. > :08:42.without the bigs doing what they were doing, it is difficult for the

:08:43. > :08:44.others to contribute the way they want to because every time they come

:08:45. > :09:00.out, there is a big available. Finally, Spain, way with that! There

:09:01. > :09:08.is a block, and it'll be a jump ball. It's going to go to Spain.

:09:09. > :09:18.Look at this, clean block, and she came down with it. They're doing

:09:19. > :09:24.well, battling away. Off the rebounds, United States, it is white

:09:25. > :09:28.arms going up. The players in white shirts. And it makes it really

:09:29. > :09:36.difficult. It must have been a Spain ball again.

:09:37. > :10:00.That is a foul as Cruz drives through. It is tough for Spain here.

:10:01. > :10:05.There two key players have had to sit. They are down by 15 points and

:10:06. > :10:13.the US are starting to shoot really well as well. You're driving through

:10:14. > :10:24.the middle, well, Nicholls and Ndour not blocking of the bigs.

:10:25. > :10:29.Torrens is the other power forward now, the other big inside. That

:10:30. > :10:44.should not be her role. She turns 27 on the 30th of August.

:10:45. > :10:48.The United States want to press the advantage now. They need to score as

:10:49. > :10:57.many points as possible to make it comfortable. Now it is 43-27. They

:10:58. > :11:02.won't take their foot off the pedal. They are ruthless in that sense. All

:11:03. > :11:08.of a sudden, they have broken the game open. Spain want another

:11:09. > :11:13.time-out. They will attempt to staunch the United States' offence

:11:14. > :11:19.at this point. All of a sudden, from a close game at the quarter, and

:11:20. > :11:25.Spain keeping up with them, the US has outscored Spain 22-10, and now

:11:26. > :12:10.it is 43-27. I love Geno says they went so last

:12:11. > :12:15.time and they say, yeah, we know that. She is the second coach out

:12:16. > :12:23.there! She knows what they need to do. So far, they've been doing it

:12:24. > :12:25.because they are outscoring Spain. When the shops start to drop for the

:12:26. > :12:32.US, you have a real problem. Greatly pass for Torrens, but it was

:12:33. > :13:04.too far. Xargay is fouled on the outside by

:13:05. > :13:08.Fowles. For Spain, it is a matter of trying to keep up, really, with

:13:09. > :13:13.United States now. Get as many points as you can, don't think too

:13:14. > :13:19.much about the scoreboard. And try to get back into this context. If

:13:20. > :13:31.you keep chipping away, you give yourself an opportunity.

:13:32. > :13:51.Xargay makes them both. Bird is back in the point.

:13:52. > :14:06.That was beautiful. So hard to stop them and they're playing like that.

:14:07. > :14:16.That is great stuff from Cruz. They need to do that, they need to

:14:17. > :14:36.penetrate. Gil is the only big in for Spain.

:14:37. > :14:51.Looking for the foul and gets it from Bird. 17 foul from the United

:14:52. > :14:56.States they've piled up the fouls. No one is on three direct fouls but

:14:57. > :15:00.that is the advantage the US have over Spain. If United States get

:15:01. > :15:04.into trouble, there's someone on the bench that can take their place.

:15:05. > :15:08.When people talk about the US domination in Olympic basketball,

:15:09. > :15:17.which isn't quite as much as people think, given that Argentina won the

:15:18. > :15:24.2004 Olympics, for example. But it is more a question of depth of

:15:25. > :15:28.talent. Rather than distance the teams can put together. The

:15:29. > :15:31.competitive starting fires, sixes and sevens, but the US can go 12

:15:32. > :15:44.deep. That is great. She is having a

:15:45. > :15:48.remarkable game, she has been outstanding all Olympic Games and

:15:49. > :15:53.has stepped it up in this gold medal game, 12 points for her now. In

:15:54. > :15:59.fairness, people talk about the athletes... And there is the steal.

:16:00. > :16:07.That was not a well judged pass. Easy lay-up. And that brings the

:16:08. > :16:14.half to a close, a 17 point gain, 49-32. In fairness to Spain, Sanchez

:16:15. > :16:19.is not here, she got injured playing in WNBA in July, Spain needs her

:16:20. > :16:22.desperately in this game. But they don't have her and when they have to

:16:23. > :16:27.go to the bench the US momentum is too much for them. At the half, US

:16:28. > :16:36.leads 49-32. We shall be back for the second half

:16:37. > :16:42.and hopefully it will gather some competitiveness. The USA coming away

:16:43. > :16:45.with that at the moment. If we do think it is becoming hilariously

:16:46. > :16:49.one-sided we might show you the handball instead. Look at the

:16:50. > :16:56.weather. Our final night on the beach. Full rein, ponchos all over

:16:57. > :17:04.the place. I might have to purchase one myself, there are about ?1 40

:17:05. > :17:12.odd. But there are still people on the beach as there usually are. Have

:17:13. > :17:16.we got the kid who was doing his...? You know earlier we saw the kids who

:17:17. > :17:21.were unsuccessful with the body boards? Well, a little practice and

:17:22. > :17:24.that is better, isn't it? He is still out there so if he improves

:17:25. > :17:32.again we will show you it again later on. Many texts coming in,

:17:33. > :17:36.hello to Joel and Anna, big supporters of the show, they say

:17:37. > :17:43.that ever happens very will be with us all the way through until two

:17:44. > :17:53.a.m.. So hello to you. In Farnborough, Simon, Charlotte, and a

:17:54. > :17:58.ring, hello. But since McCarthy would like to know, is Maria on

:17:59. > :18:03.tonight? Well I don't like to build things up but will not happen. She

:18:04. > :18:07.actually did quite a long way away, it is a long flight to Rio where she

:18:08. > :18:10.is getting married next month. But we will show you highlights and

:18:11. > :18:19.something tells you she might feature. Tim Hawthorne asks, why are

:18:20. > :18:24.you calling the children kids? Kids are goats. Apologies for that! I did

:18:25. > :18:29.not realise it was quite so illegal. Another reviewer, my kids are asking

:18:30. > :18:36.if they can stay up. Well, listen, if they turn up, we have a little

:18:37. > :18:40.surprise for them tonight, hopefully you'll enjoy our final night on BBC

:18:41. > :18:45.Four as much as we have over the last few days. And Laura says, I am

:18:46. > :18:49.holding you responsible for the insult of my six-year-old to his

:18:50. > :18:56.brother. He called his brother a bomb face. We take full

:18:57. > :19:02.responsibility for that. In all honesty, it makes us feel quite warm

:19:03. > :19:05.inside. It is a special moment for us all. Slightly better role models

:19:06. > :19:14.are some of the Team GB medallists. We will show you one of them now.

:19:15. > :19:21.You might remember a few days ago Liam Heath and John Schofield took

:19:22. > :19:27.silver in the kayak. John was the only when interviewed because Liam

:19:28. > :19:34.Heath had to focus on the individual final, and this is how he got on.

:19:35. > :19:43.Very exciting here at the Lagoon. In lane five, Liam Heath of Great

:19:44. > :19:53.Britain. The sizzling hot favourite for this event. Oh we have a go.

:19:54. > :19:58.Watch out for Liam Heath, not the best of starts. He is looking to

:19:59. > :20:03.repeat British success. What it is Beaumont of France who has the lead

:20:04. > :20:09.at the moment. It is the closing stages. He has got work to do. Half

:20:10. > :20:17.a metre down. 70 metres to go. Now Liam Heath starts to edge forward is

:20:18. > :20:21.Beaumont fades. And she has believed. 15 metres to go, he has

:20:22. > :20:27.got to stay strong. Goldie goes to Liam Heath, he came as the favourite

:20:28. > :20:34.and will leave as the Olympic champion. The most successful

:20:35. > :20:38.British Olympic patter of all time. He has gold, silver, and bronze in

:20:39. > :20:47.his collection, he leaps from seventh to first in the tally of

:20:48. > :20:54.British paddlers. A sensational run. A gold, silver, and bronze. What a

:20:55. > :20:57.collection. From Guildford, moved to Maidenhead, and the number one

:20:58. > :21:03.British start now, the most successful Olympic paddler Britain

:21:04. > :21:15.has ever had. Olympic champion, how does it sound?

:21:16. > :21:20.Incredible, it has been on my mind every single day for the last four

:21:21. > :21:31.years. It felt like I switched onto automatic. I just kept going. There

:21:32. > :21:35.was a headwind today. Unbelievable. We weren't worried for a bit,

:21:36. > :21:41.Beaumont was I had a view and you had ground to claw-back. Never a

:21:42. > :21:45.doubt in your mind? You don't pay attention to those around you. You

:21:46. > :21:52.just focus on your line. You have got to judge the conditions, there

:21:53. > :21:58.was a headwind, had a good solid start, pace down, keep the group,

:21:59. > :22:02.down to the line. Of all the athletes we speak today mentioned

:22:03. > :22:07.sacrifice. Whether it is themselves, the people around them, and how much

:22:08. > :22:13.it is worth it when they come here. When you win a gold medal how much

:22:14. > :22:17.is it worth it? Every ounce. I want to thank everybody who has been with

:22:18. > :22:22.me. Friends, family, Johnny, he finished a couple of days ago but

:22:23. > :22:27.has been out doing drills with me, checking out my boat, getting into

:22:28. > :22:31.the water, my coach, Alex, an amazing man, and all the support

:22:32. > :22:36.crew behind me, it is amazing. You are the most successful Olympian

:22:37. > :22:44.when it comes to canoe sprint athletes for Great Britain.

:22:45. > :22:51.Exceeding Tim Brabant. What is it mean to you? I had not thought about

:22:52. > :22:56.it, I glimpsed it on Facebook but I try to keep away from my phone and

:22:57. > :23:01.reading stuff. It did not play on my mind much. I still look up to those

:23:02. > :23:07.guys, Tim is one of my idols, I watched him when I was little, and

:23:08. > :23:11.all the guys who competed over the years, I still look up to them and

:23:12. > :23:16.to be honest I still feel like I need to achieve what they have done.

:23:17. > :23:19.But it is an absolutely incredible feeling. You are now the standard

:23:20. > :23:28.setter for anybody who wants to paddle, you are the man.

:23:29. > :23:35.Liam Heath, who actually popped down to see us at the BBC studios where

:23:36. > :23:40.Hazel does the morning programme, and he is a big lad. Significant

:23:41. > :23:43.shoulders. The amount of work that goes in to make sure that when you

:23:44. > :23:51.come to an Olympic Games you perform as best as you possibly can, and for

:23:52. > :23:56.Liam Heath that was a gold medal. Nicola Adams this afternoon also

:23:57. > :23:59.went for gold. A massive story in London, she came here as the

:24:00. > :24:05.overwhelming favourite, and we will show you the final two rounds of her

:24:06. > :24:07.about today, the gold medal match against French opponent. We pick it

:24:08. > :24:23.up at the start of round three. Two rounds completed, two to go and

:24:24. > :24:27.both of the completed rounds so far have been scored in favour of the

:24:28. > :24:33.reigning Olympic champion, Nicola Adams. She has demonstrated superior

:24:34. > :24:39.ring craft thus far but expect her opponent to adopt an all or nothing

:24:40. > :24:44.approach in her efforts to get to top spot on the Olympic medal

:24:45. > :24:48.podium. You said it, the tactics are predictable from the French boxer.

:24:49. > :24:56.Nicola has got to keep on the end of her job but just adjust her feet.

:24:57. > :25:06.She has got to slip that shot and tried to work downstairs but she is

:25:07. > :25:14.difficult to get to, she has got the full range of movement. Ourahmoune,

:25:15. > :25:19.she must push her back to the ropes and restrict that, if she is to have

:25:20. > :25:25.any success. Adams is working well with a left jab but Ourahmoune is

:25:26. > :25:30.getting closer and made Adams for short. She is one of two woman on

:25:31. > :25:42.the French team along with eight men. How much inspiration will

:25:43. > :25:46.Ourahmoune take from her colleague winning gold earlier as she looks to

:25:47. > :25:57.overturn a two point deficit in all three scorecard? Could jab by

:25:58. > :26:00.Ourahmoune. -- good. She is having success here and there are but Adams

:26:01. > :26:05.just put her in her place, back on the back foot. Occasionally Adams

:26:06. > :26:10.just holds her feet and is prepared to stand and trade. As I said before

:26:11. > :26:18.she can fight any inside or outside and this is a performance again from

:26:19. > :26:24.Adams. More success for the boxer in blue, but Nicola Adams continues to

:26:25. > :26:28.land eye-catching punches. Plenty of support in attendance for the

:26:29. > :26:37.British boxer. All appears calm in the red corner. Some good stuff from

:26:38. > :26:40.Adams. That is a nice shot, Ourahmoune did have some success,

:26:41. > :26:44.that right hand was not far away, but Adams just counterattacking,

:26:45. > :26:49.beating her opponent to the punch, stepping inside, good right hand.

:26:50. > :26:55.The French supporters for Ourahmoune, she needs to fight the

:26:56. > :26:58.contest of her life, and now in the last round she will either have to

:26:59. > :27:05.knock out Adams or force a stoppage. That will be very difficult.

:27:06. > :27:12.Ourahmoune, with that increased success, sweeps Round 3 across the

:27:13. > :27:18.board. Just one point in it. 29-28 Adams with all three judges. Into

:27:19. > :27:24.the fourth and final round of this gold-medal bout in the 51 kilograms

:27:25. > :27:30.flyweight division. Nicola Adams has conceded the round preceding this

:27:31. > :27:34.one and Ourahmoune has taken inspiration from it and come out in

:27:35. > :27:38.aggressive mood in this fourth and final round, landing effect of the

:27:39. > :27:43.with the right hand. Given the status of the contest Adams cannot

:27:44. > :27:47.afford to box defensively to protect a lead, and that is why we are

:27:48. > :27:51.seeing exchangers, they are not tidy, but exchanges close to the

:27:52. > :27:58.ropes. Her strength is on the outside. Get that timing back. The

:27:59. > :28:04.1-2, a good strength shot from Adams, that is what she has got to

:28:05. > :28:08.do, hit her opponent as she comes, concentrate and get those accurate

:28:09. > :28:16.shot mid-to long, rather than on side. The referee allowing the

:28:17. > :28:20.fighters to box away at close range. After an 11 day wait to get her

:28:21. > :28:23.campaign under way here in Rio Nicola Adams did fade noticeably in

:28:24. > :28:26.the fourth and final round to Beasley but was still a winner

:28:27. > :28:34.convincingly enough against the Ukrainian. That she cannot afford a

:28:35. > :28:40.similar fate here. This is her third contest of the tournament and she

:28:41. > :28:44.will have shed any ring rust. But Ourahmoune is desperately trying to

:28:45. > :28:47.work at close range. Adams just making the mistake of just after

:28:48. > :28:54.landing the shot falling into her opponent, which is what Ourahmoune

:28:55. > :28:57.wants, to work at close range, threes and fours are coming in now

:28:58. > :29:03.from the French opponent. Adams has got to compete. Both fighters are

:29:04. > :29:07.skilfully extracting the best of one another. Deep into the final round

:29:08. > :29:17.who can produce the final moment of quality? Cracking right hand from

:29:18. > :29:21.Ourahmoune. It is an incredibly tight gold-medal bout between two

:29:22. > :29:29.familiar rivals. At the end of the third-round Nicola Adams led by one,

:29:30. > :29:33.with all three judges, and Ourahmoune mounted a spirited rally

:29:34. > :29:38.in the fourth and final round. It is incredibly tight, how will the

:29:39. > :29:45.judges score that final round? It was close, Adams really had to

:29:46. > :29:51.rally. She had to equal the workrate of her opponent and I think she just

:29:52. > :29:55.did enough to win that last round, Ourahmoune work better on the inside

:29:56. > :30:02.but Adams worked better at mid and long. So a very close round but for

:30:03. > :30:03.me Nicola Adams just had a better, eye-catching, quality work, it will

:30:04. > :30:16.hopefully see her through. Nervous moments for both of the

:30:17. > :30:18.opponents now. A keenly contested gold medal. Who will be crowned

:30:19. > :30:29.champion? Ladies and gentlemen, the winner, by

:30:30. > :30:41.unanimous decision, and Olympic champion...

:30:42. > :30:55.Nicola Adams! Nicola Adams lets out a triumphant roar, having been

:30:56. > :31:00.crowned Olympic champion for the second successive time. She joins an

:31:01. > :31:04.exclusive club reserved only for boxers with impeccable Olympic

:31:05. > :31:08.credentials. A fantastic performance to fetch her name or indelibly into

:31:09. > :31:12.the annals of Olympic boxing history by becoming the first woman to win

:31:13. > :31:19.two Olympic titles in the boxing ring.

:31:20. > :31:22.Great stuff from Nicola Adams and I think she might be appearing

:31:23. > :31:28.somewhere on a screen near you on BBC One at some stage but thank you

:31:29. > :31:34.for sticking with us on BBC Four. We have lovely sport and all the other

:31:35. > :31:43.bits and bobs. There's loads of people watching tonight having

:31:44. > :31:48.special parties a glass of red, no pressure best be worth it. We will

:31:49. > :31:53.try best not to let you down. Lucinda says, "What about a spin

:31:54. > :31:58.off? You and the entire BBC Four team doing weird things on beaches

:31:59. > :32:08.with stuff going on behind you? Has quit anyone? Yes, most of us are in.

:32:09. > :32:15.Marco is out but the rest of the team Rian. We have also got Linda.

:32:16. > :32:18.What time will you be showing the highlights? Matt will be in charge

:32:19. > :32:25.of that and he hasn't made the decision. Half-time in the football,

:32:26. > :32:36.Linda, we shall do those for you. Vicky says, I hope Mo Farah gets to

:32:37. > :32:47.be a double champion tonight and doesn't get a Copacobunyan. I've --

:32:48. > :32:51.I see what you did there. Antony Worrall Thompson, we hope he hasn't

:32:52. > :32:56.pulled a muscle and he will come back. I don't think it is good news

:32:57. > :33:01.because it is a huge disappointment to us. The circuit trainers, they

:33:02. > :33:04.haven't been here for three nights. Part of me thinks because the

:33:05. > :33:08.triathlon has been happening behind us and it was the women's triathlon

:33:09. > :33:18.today, men strap from a few days ago, they've packed up and gone

:33:19. > :33:23.elsewhere. If we can get hold of AWT, we will. Talking of half-time,

:33:24. > :33:28.that is where we left the basketball with USA taking on Spain. We will go

:33:29. > :33:37.back there now. Into the third period. This is live for you now on

:33:38. > :33:41.BBC Four. Keep your bits and bobs coming in and we shall continue to

:33:42. > :33:42.read them out throughout the evening. Let's have some basketball

:33:43. > :33:58.on BBC Four. Four personal fouls for Bird. I

:33:59. > :34:06.wasn't expecting that. The passes thrown away. The possession goes to

:34:07. > :34:11.the US. They could do with the more coaching from the bench. That's the

:34:12. > :34:15.difference between the US and Spain. Bird will have to sit out most of

:34:16. > :34:20.the game but they have Whalen and other threats who can come and so it

:34:21. > :34:23.isn't imperative that and Mac is out there. Yes, they can play with

:34:24. > :34:37.Augustus, if they need to. Spain need a big third quarter to

:34:38. > :34:49.give them a good chance of getting back in this.

:34:50. > :35:00.Taurasi is finding her range. That's the trouble for Spain. The US can

:35:01. > :35:04.get up there, and Taurasi can just get them in. The difference is 20

:35:05. > :35:13.points now and if the US keep this pace up, it could be very difficult,

:35:14. > :35:19.even if Ndour was out there. I think there are a couple of tired legs

:35:20. > :35:26.from Spain. There was no way they could stop Taurasi. Two steps, up in

:35:27. > :35:30.the air, and right now the Spanish coach, it looks like he's saying,

:35:31. > :35:41.what do I do? Remember, the US beat Spain by 40

:35:42. > :35:50.when they met in the qualifying group. That's been the problem for

:35:51. > :35:55.every team playing the US. You can keep it up for a quarter or two but

:35:56. > :36:00.to be consistently matching it for the entire game is so difficult,

:36:01. > :36:06.they have so many threats, and when Taurasi starts hitting threes... The

:36:07. > :36:10.tall, their strong, from inside, from outside, and you have to play

:36:11. > :36:16.the perfect game and no one has come up with the perfect game against the

:36:17. > :36:23.United States. Taurasi, all 3-pointers getting through.

:36:24. > :36:33.Catchings and Taurasi have three gold medals. Charles, Whalen and

:36:34. > :36:40.Moore picked up their first gold medals in London.

:36:41. > :36:58.Ndour, her third three for Spain. Whalen goes back door.

:36:59. > :37:08.Spain want a shoot out, the United States will take that. That was

:37:09. > :37:25.beautiful from Palau. Torrens, and it is blocked out of

:37:26. > :37:30.bounds by Moore. Early on, it was spent getting all the blocks. The

:37:31. > :37:34.United States have now picked it up as well. It seems Spain are trying

:37:35. > :37:36.to pick up the pace. They've nothing to lose. But that actually gives the

:37:37. > :38:07.rest the advantage. Four threes! The bench can scarcely

:38:08. > :38:17.believe it. She's out there shooting the threes, and Spain have cut the

:38:18. > :38:32.lead. 6.5 to play in the third. There is a foul inside.

:38:33. > :38:40.Third personal foul for Griner. Well, you saw Nicholls's necks

:38:41. > :39:06.snapped back, indicating an elbow. The United States don't mind playing

:39:07. > :39:10.at this high pace. They have players that can drive, this will suit them

:39:11. > :39:14.but I don't think Spain have any other possible conclusion to come to

:39:15. > :39:22.in trying to get back into this game. Not only can they do it, but

:39:23. > :39:27.they can do it easily. That is the advantage. Whalen misses the foul

:39:28. > :39:33.shot. It is going to be off Tina Charles. Ndour is keeping up with

:39:34. > :39:57.Taurasi. I think this might be on Palau for

:39:58. > :40:11.reaching in. She looks a forlorn figure. That is going to be a foul.

:40:12. > :40:21.That is her second personal, Palau. Griner looking for position with

:40:22. > :40:31.Cruz on her but she shoots over. That is almost a whole foot height

:40:32. > :40:35.advantage. And the foul... Sylvia Fowles, all she has to do is step on

:40:36. > :40:44.the court and she lives up to her name. You talk about the height

:40:45. > :40:52.advantage. There's no chance there. Griner is tall and most players...

:40:53. > :40:53.Only one Australian player can match her and when you can shoot like

:40:54. > :41:05.that. Dot. She has to be one of the standout

:41:06. > :41:13.players for the United States. Absolutely.

:41:14. > :41:38.Ndour finally misses the three fouls and clears the board.

:41:39. > :41:45.They seem impressed with what they've seen. Spain have put up a

:41:46. > :41:49.fight but the US individual quality has shone through, and they have

:41:50. > :41:52.finished strongly as well, partly because their benches strong so

:41:53. > :41:57.their players can get a chance to rest and they don't lose momentum

:41:58. > :42:17.when bring off players like Maya Moore. Spain keep possession.

:42:18. > :42:30.DAN WALKER: Were going to leave the basketball there. We will show you

:42:31. > :42:34.the football and the handball. You can continue to watch USA against

:42:35. > :42:41.Spain with USA with that commandingly donned the Red Button.

:42:42. > :42:46.It should be on every single Red Button. Elsewhere, we have the

:42:47. > :42:50.ten-metre diving final. This is the one Tom Daley sadly didn't qualify

:42:51. > :42:54.for, didn't make it through the semifinal earlier today. We heard

:42:55. > :42:57.him very disappointed earlier, but if you'd like to watch the final, it

:42:58. > :43:02.is available on the Red Button for you now. A little bit later on, we

:43:03. > :43:08.will show you the first half of the gold medal match in the football and

:43:09. > :43:13.the Maracana which sees Brazil take on Germany, hopefully for a gold

:43:14. > :43:20.medal. Shy and is about to go and watch the football down the road, so

:43:21. > :43:25.how important, a game for this, a moment for this is it for the host

:43:26. > :43:29.nation Brazil? It is very important. I am hoping Brazil will win the gold

:43:30. > :43:37.medal for once because I don't think... Never won the gold medal in

:43:38. > :43:41.the Olympic Games. And we will get revenge against Germany. It is a

:43:42. > :43:46.very important game and we have to win. I sense the importance of this

:43:47. > :43:50.game, you're talking about the World Cup when Brazil lost to Germany 7-1.

:43:51. > :43:57.I was here and it wasn't a happy place. If we make one goal, we will

:43:58. > :44:01.be happy. Do you think Brazilian football fans are confident?

:44:02. > :44:05.Normally whenever Brazil go into a game, most Brazilian fans are

:44:06. > :44:09.convinced they will win but because of the way they're playing, there is

:44:10. > :44:14.some concern about how they are playing. We are still confident

:44:15. > :44:19.because we are only the country who has won five stars so we are still

:44:20. > :44:26.the best. So we will win this, I am sure. You are a resident of Rio, so

:44:27. > :44:30.how have you found the Olympic experience? Coming to the last few

:44:31. > :44:36.days, how has it been for you? I think it was good. People were

:44:37. > :44:42.thinking that we are going to not do well but I think we delivered. I

:44:43. > :44:46.think so. And what about the legacy? What about years to come? Will it be

:44:47. > :44:52.positive? When we are looking at this day four years in the future,

:44:53. > :44:56.will we be saying it was a great experience for Rio and it actually

:44:57. > :45:00.made a difference? It was definitely a great experience. It was a great

:45:01. > :45:05.experience for Brazil. I think so, yes. And, hopefully, people will

:45:06. > :45:10.have more positive thoughts about Brazil now. And what about some of

:45:11. > :45:16.the gold medals the Brazilians have one? Rafaela Silver in the judo, the

:45:17. > :45:22.pole vault, the boxing, the sailing, and the beach volleyball? Yes, it

:45:23. > :45:26.was great, well done to the guys, we are proud of them and, hopefully, we

:45:27. > :45:35.will get another gold medal tonight. Just now. I like the confidence, I

:45:36. > :45:40.do. You need to be always positive. Brazilians, we never give up. That

:45:41. > :45:43.is what we say, never give up. Lots of people watching back in the UK

:45:44. > :45:48.are slightly concerned about... Say hello to them, if you like. Hello,

:45:49. > :45:55.I'd like to say hi to my boyfriend who is actually in London. Rob

:45:56. > :46:02.Morrish. I wish you could be here with us. Hello, Rob! He's Scottish

:46:03. > :46:12.but he lives in London. Where did you meet him? In London, I was there

:46:13. > :46:24.for six years. Who does he support? He is a Celtic fan. You've just

:46:25. > :46:30.upset all the Rangers fans. He was very happy Andy Murray won the gold

:46:31. > :46:33.in the tennis. He is a very big fan. So everybody is in during the

:46:34. > :46:38.Olympic Games. People watching, they are baffled by the Rio de Janeiro

:46:39. > :46:43.weather. We have to remind people this is your winter. Yes, it is.

:46:44. > :46:53.Still, it is very warm, compared to the UK. OK, don't rub it in. Sorry.

:46:54. > :46:56.It's good to be honest. Enjoy the football. We hope the host nation

:46:57. > :47:01.can do it against the Germans. There's a lot of people here... In

:47:02. > :47:04.the past, the Brazilian nation haven't really got behind the

:47:05. > :47:07.Olympic Games because of what happened in the World Cup and

:47:08. > :47:14.because there's a chance they could win on home soil, this is a big one.

:47:15. > :47:20.Massive and we will win. Look at that, the confidence. Lovely to meet

:47:21. > :47:29.you. Say hi to rob the Celtic fan. Do you like handball? Good job you

:47:30. > :47:34.said yes because we've got... UART a very good guest. Let's have some

:47:35. > :47:38.handball. We will keep you on all night. We will show you the second

:47:39. > :47:42.half of the handball gold medal match. This sees Russia taking on

:47:43. > :47:46.France. Both of these sites are pricing finalists, really because

:47:47. > :47:51.Russia beat Norway, who are heavily fancied. France beat the Netherlands

:47:52. > :48:02.in their semifinal. We join it in the second half.

:48:03. > :48:08.The atmosphere is building inside the arena. The fans know that in 30

:48:09. > :48:18.minutes we may have a gold-medal winner. If it is still level we go

:48:19. > :48:22.into overtime. Then we go to penalties if it is still level, but

:48:23. > :48:31.that is a long way off. Russia lead, with France and the attack, in the

:48:32. > :48:38.white. It opens up a bit out on the wing... And into the net. Finding

:48:39. > :48:45.the near post, France 8-10 Russia. Her second goal of the game. Now the

:48:46. > :48:50.Russians have a shot. It looked like interference but it is not given.

:48:51. > :48:56.And France breakaway. But they missed the opportunity. Still not

:48:57. > :49:01.looking like they are fully into the game, and a giveaway by France.

:49:02. > :49:05.Turnover. Only had three in the first half, that is their fourth,

:49:06. > :49:12.and that is the payment at the other end I am afraid, nothing they could

:49:13. > :49:24.do about that. It could have been a different story altogether.

:49:25. > :49:30.A much more action packed opening to this half. It took quite a while to

:49:31. > :49:38.get the first couple of goals at the start of the first half but it is a

:49:39. > :49:54.bit more lively now. Now Russia on the break. The whistle goes, and the

:49:55. > :49:59.referee shakes her head is Sudakova drove through to try to find the

:50:00. > :50:08.back of the net. The ball was lost by France at the other end with

:50:09. > :50:13.Lacrabere desperately looking for the line rather than the shot.

:50:14. > :50:16.Cutting back toward the middle, going back from one side to the

:50:17. > :50:30.other, and the line player readjusting. Bobrovnikova, try to

:50:31. > :50:36.find a way through. That was lucky. France's stream forward. Earlier in

:50:37. > :50:39.the game did not truly suit France, in fairness, they are all about

:50:40. > :50:49.defence and bringing the ball up. And that is a first save under the

:50:50. > :51:03.bill for Glauser. France coming forward. Too many steps, against

:51:04. > :51:10.Sudakova, you are only allowed three steps without bouncing dribbling.

:51:11. > :51:26.What a lovely pass that is. And it is finished by coups nets --

:51:27. > :51:33.Kuznetsova and that is a four goal advantage. Glauser, was always going

:51:34. > :51:44.to struggle with that, especially with her accuracy rate. Late

:51:45. > :51:47.thinking about that one, very slow with the whistle, but it is a free

:51:48. > :51:52.throw, they thought it should have been a penalty. They may show that

:51:53. > :52:05.she broke through and bill for it should be a penalty. Free throw it

:52:06. > :52:12.is. Lacrabere Find it, would have been a penalty anyway. Winning so

:52:13. > :52:17.many penalties, this, another one, stepping well inside the area,

:52:18. > :52:34.couldn't really give that one. A seven metre throw. And then comes

:52:35. > :52:41.Kalinina to try to make the save. Scored. She tried to commit the

:52:42. > :52:47.goalkeeper, dummied the first shot and then just went quickly for the

:52:48. > :52:57.top corner, the venture are happy with that. -- the bench. Friends are

:52:58. > :53:09.pushing deep onto the back players. Nearly losing it, Dmitriyeva and, as

:53:10. > :53:20.France try to be more aggressive with the Russian back players. The

:53:21. > :53:28.whistle-blowing, it can sometimes mean a two-minute suspension. Just

:53:29. > :53:49.about stayed in front by the skin of her teeth. After taking that

:53:50. > :54:00.penalty Pineau, staying on court, and that sales of the goal, and

:54:01. > :54:08.France can throw it back up again, Pineau slots into the centre,

:54:09. > :54:11.Pineau... And again, French shooting is hitting the post with annoying

:54:12. > :54:18.regularity as far as they are concerned. That is two attacks

:54:19. > :54:26.running that the French have clipped the post. Lacrabere, then Pineau.

:54:27. > :54:32.What more can you do? The coach of the French side, and there is the

:54:33. > :54:38.conversion rate for France. 39%, shots two goals. Russia picked it

:54:39. > :54:43.up. Free throw. Was always going to be ambitious to turn and shoot

:54:44. > :54:49.whilst standing there but she wins the free throw nevertheless. The

:54:50. > :54:53.referee steps in quickly to make sure it was only a free throw and

:54:54. > :54:57.not a penalty, goals are hard to come by at both ends, the French

:54:58. > :55:00.cannot quite get the measure of the shooting, and the Russians are

:55:01. > :55:09.finding it very tough defensively. They knew they would. Oh, smuggled

:55:10. > :55:19.in. Miss rate by the goalkeeper but the score again -- miss read. And

:55:20. > :55:31.that is a really good save. Now Russia charging forward. And the

:55:32. > :55:39.foot of Glaucer gets to it. That is her first miss in the competition

:55:40. > :55:44.from an actual shot. Again, Lacrabere cannot find a way through,

:55:45. > :55:49.the Russians are watching her like a hawk. She looks the gaps, will

:55:50. > :55:54.literally crossed the entire court. They know it and they are looking

:55:55. > :55:59.out for it. It is also widely France right-winger is not getting a huge

:56:00. > :56:06.amount of service. -- it is also why we. Dispossessed. Straight down the

:56:07. > :56:18.middle. She has bounced its too heart. Its sales over the top of the

:56:19. > :56:25.goal. And Vyakhireva, who stole it and passed it, turns to the bench

:56:26. > :56:35.with frustration. Good pressure, mind you, from the French defender.

:56:36. > :56:48.Back, France. Still no way through this defence. Excellent work again.

:56:49. > :56:53.She is having a superb final, Kuznetsova, and the frustration is

:56:54. > :57:04.beginning to show on Lacrabere's face. They might need an option to

:57:05. > :57:15.give Lacrabere a quick breather. They are making no inroads... Oh,

:57:16. > :57:18.fortuitous goal for France. Dembele, happy to get it, but a mistake from

:57:19. > :57:26.the keeper from that angle should have had it covered. France 10-13

:57:27. > :57:32.Russia. Russia: forward once more. The right back, Vyakhireva, and

:57:33. > :57:54.again, to Akopian, really well read, and is

:57:55. > :58:00.there a chance of a breakaway? Dembele, trying to get in... And

:58:01. > :58:06.scoring. France 11-13 Russia. It all came from the steel. Quick ball out

:58:07. > :58:14.and once the French managed to passed the Russians, two girls

:58:15. > :58:18.running, the captain, Dembele, and the ball, straight at the far post,

:58:19. > :58:32.and suddenly French tales are up again. Have they found their range?

:58:33. > :58:37.Has Lacrabere got a bit of a spur? France take their time to rebuild

:58:38. > :58:46.the attack. You always wonder why they don't suddenly turn around and

:58:47. > :58:52.spin back in again when the changes made, but they are very, very slowly

:58:53. > :59:01.taking their time. Ten minutes played. Russia 13-11 France. Miss

:59:02. > :59:07.connected. Not catching the ball the same pace she came on to court with.

:59:08. > :59:13.We'll walk again. The French defence has tightened up quite a bit.

:59:14. > :59:24.Indeed, still coming on in defence. France 11-13 Russia, either France

:59:25. > :59:30.or Russia are going to win their first ever Olympic gold medal. Oh,

:59:31. > :59:35.it is in. The goalkeeper slams the floor with her hand, she is very

:59:36. > :59:39.frustrated to have conceded that. It is just squeezed in under her left

:59:40. > :59:50.foot and Russia get their advantage back up to three goals. Vyakhireva,

:59:51. > :59:54.driving across. Shooting across her body, should not really have those

:59:55. > :00:07.opportunities, but it has happened twice. Back again, Niombla has a big

:00:08. > :00:16.shot on her but has not really used it in this game. Dembele, not really

:00:17. > :00:20.helping there, and why did she not run around herself? There was so

:00:21. > :00:25.much space! And the whistle has gone anyway after a very long pause. I

:00:26. > :00:34.think the Russians may keep possession, we wait to see, but it

:00:35. > :00:39.is Lacrabere who has gone down, she was shoulder barged out of the way.

:00:40. > :00:45.And looks to be in some pain. She does not go down easily either,

:00:46. > :00:50.Lacrabere, she can take the knocks, and that will be a big concern? But

:00:51. > :01:00.why not try to run for the gap? She could have got the penalty.

:01:01. > :01:13.The doctor is looking and huddling around her. France 11 and Russia 14,

:01:14. > :01:17.that is going to be a concern. He gives a thumbs up to someone but you

:01:18. > :01:20.don't want a star player down, especially if it is the left

:01:21. > :01:27.shoulder because that is the shooting arm. She isn't looking like

:01:28. > :01:36.she's going to be in any state to continue at the moment. Visibly

:01:37. > :01:48.distressed. Legitimate run, but she was caught. The coaches looking on.

:01:49. > :01:59.So far so good. For the Russians. They've got to stay focused. Off she

:02:00. > :02:03.goes for some more treatment. The problem with the French is that with

:02:04. > :02:18.the injuries they've had earlier in the competition, they only have two

:02:19. > :02:24.other left-handers. Ayglon takes over in that position. The Russians

:02:25. > :02:26.have a good opportunity through the misfortune of the right back. Not a

:02:27. > :02:36.huge angle but it was doable. Let's not worry too much in terms of

:02:37. > :03:05.the goal-scorers. She has a smile. Let's see how

:03:06. > :03:10.serious this is. If you go off, you have to missed three attacks. That

:03:11. > :03:29.is an attacking foul. Russia are on the break. France take it quickly.

:03:30. > :03:34.France really sooner rather than later need to stop to claw back.

:03:35. > :03:38.They've kept pace with Russia and the second half with four goals

:03:39. > :03:42.apiece but there is a 3-goal deficit they suffered in the first half

:03:43. > :03:53.which means they need to start to get back on level terms. Looks like

:03:54. > :04:07.she's all sorted to a certain extent. The Reef Road to the French.

:04:08. > :04:16.Kuznetsova is having a very good match so far. There they are! Pineau

:04:17. > :04:35.got a hit after she released the shot. You can see it. She is fouled.

:04:36. > :04:41.It was the shoulder, really of Dmitrieva. The injury problems are

:04:42. > :04:49.mounting. Pineau looks OK. She shakes her head and walks back down.

:04:50. > :04:57.The coach has been given a yellow card, presumably about the

:04:58. > :05:21.displeasure of those moves. Too many steps. Now here's the

:05:22. > :05:28.counterattack opportunity. There is the back of the net! France are back

:05:29. > :05:35.to within one goal. They can see the gold medal coming back into their

:05:36. > :05:37.sites. Her arm was grabbed as she went for the goal but she still

:05:38. > :05:58.found the back of the net, Dembele. There is a two-minute suspension. It

:05:59. > :06:01.was pulled away after the player had gone past. France need to capitalise

:06:02. > :06:14.on the extra player. They getting carried away in the

:06:15. > :06:21.attack and the momentum of the Russian attack they can't afford to

:06:22. > :06:43.lose too many of their experienced players.

:06:44. > :06:50.Straightforward for the French goalkeeper! Just diving down to her

:06:51. > :06:55.left and now here they come! Into the roof of the net and France are

:06:56. > :06:56.level. 14 minutes to go in this Olympic final and the French fans

:06:57. > :07:14.are on their feet. They were well beaten in goal. The

:07:15. > :07:18.goalkeeper couldn't do anything. It was a good defence by the French,

:07:19. > :07:25.the Russians running out of time on their attack. Suddenly, there is

:07:26. > :07:46.renewed energy not only in the team but in the fans as well.

:07:47. > :07:53.The Russians are back to full strength. She's going through a

:07:54. > :08:04.great spelling golfer France, Dancette. That was a great save.

:08:05. > :08:11.That was her fourth save from big shots. They've run off the left-hand

:08:12. > :08:13.side and emerging here into the right back position is once again

:08:14. > :08:27.France's top scorer. They're trying to keep the

:08:28. > :08:38.experienced players on here. Shildon all right, she's a left-hander.

:08:39. > :08:48.Half-hearted attempt. As a brake on the side her first goal of the game!

:08:49. > :09:00.And the initiative slips back to Russia. Easily picked up by

:09:01. > :09:04.Kuznetsova. Still had work to do and then they fired it into the back of

:09:05. > :09:09.the nets. France have called a time-out just to calm the players

:09:10. > :09:12.down a little bit because the whole action on court, the huge arena

:09:13. > :09:39.starting to get heated right now. They're saying they have to be even

:09:40. > :09:44.faster on the fast break but if it doesn't work, you have to slow it

:09:45. > :09:47.back down again. They keep on going too fast, but as the Russian

:09:48. > :09:57.players, they are dictating at the moment, as we see these great shots

:09:58. > :10:00.from the game so far. Taking those long-range shots and planting them

:10:01. > :10:10.into the top corner, those are the instructions. The Russians just want

:10:11. > :10:18.to get the initiative back. 12 minutes left in the Olympic final.

:10:19. > :10:23.Both sides looking for their first ever gold medal. Maybe Lacrabere

:10:24. > :10:34.wasn't fully fit. She's been taken off again.

:10:35. > :10:44.The Russians are moving the pace now. Good save! That was a big saved

:10:45. > :10:51.by Glauser and immediately Pineau says slowdown. Fast on the break,

:10:52. > :11:00.slow on the set piece. She did very well indeed, the goalkeeper. Pineau,

:11:01. > :11:08.rubbing the back of her leg, she got caught. Still no Lacrabere. Maybe

:11:09. > :11:16.those first few passes made her realise her shoulder isn't right.

:11:17. > :11:19.Ayglon, she's an experienced right back. Her club went bankrupt this

:11:20. > :11:42.year. It is given away! I thought a

:11:43. > :11:44.Russian hand guard got on that but it is out of play. Now here Russia

:11:45. > :11:58.again. Zhilinskayte, that is basically what

:11:59. > :12:04.the French have been told to do. Get up quickly, then take it slow. So,

:12:05. > :12:11.Dmitrieva in the centre. They've made two mistakes on the next two

:12:12. > :12:19.attacks and been punished each time, the French. That has opened up the

:12:20. > :12:31.wing! It has gone wide! Dembele gambled and went wide, and left so

:12:32. > :12:37.much space. Two attackers to mark. Bliznova should have done better.

:12:38. > :12:43.Her shoulder seemed to have taken a blow. We are into the final ten

:12:44. > :12:51.minutes of the Olympic final. There is the shot, it is pretty much at

:12:52. > :12:57.the keeper. Russia come forward with the fast play. She's brought down

:12:58. > :13:05.and Russia get possession once again. Landre balsa Rover and goes

:13:06. > :13:15.over the top of her, I'm surprised she didn't step on her. So,

:13:16. > :13:24.Bobrovnikova is in the thick of it as ever. Dmitrieva is having a good

:13:25. > :13:31.game in the centre. Vyakhireva, she has had a fair measure of success

:13:32. > :13:44.and these games. Bobrovnikova, cuts back. It is still a free throw. Time

:13:45. > :13:58.is running out for the French. That is how you do it! Vyakhireva says

:13:59. > :14:10.try that next time. Russia retake their two goal advantage. Vyakhireva

:14:11. > :14:18.putting it passed Glauser. Vyakhireva is back on the bench.

:14:19. > :14:26.Format goals from five shots. Dembele tried to drive-in. Here

:14:27. > :14:29.comes another fast break. Sen! Crucial one there for the French

:14:30. > :14:35.because they are only two goals down with eight minutes to go. The

:14:36. > :14:40.goalkeepers must be cursing the attack because they're giving away

:14:41. > :14:43.the ball cheaply, France, not listening to the instructions,

:14:44. > :14:48.playing too fast for the rain good. Their finishing is so frustrating.

:14:49. > :14:55.Down on for 2%, well below the standard. She did well to cut back

:14:56. > :15:00.diagonally, Bobrovnikova. First for higher but how important could that

:15:01. > :15:12.be? Pineau collected but then let her go. 14-17 to Russia with seven

:15:13. > :15:20.minutes left in this Olympic final. France need to get back on top. That

:15:21. > :15:25.is the way to get it started! The gap is back down to two with seven

:15:26. > :15:29.minutes. It was a nicely worked goal and she would have got a penalty

:15:30. > :15:42.anyway. Bobrovnikova well inside with that shot.

:15:43. > :15:48.The French bring to an end a run of three goals for the Russians. Both

:15:49. > :16:02.teams have had their moments of domination. And Kuznetsova, calling

:16:03. > :16:05.for the floor to be mocked, but it helps any rate that there is a team

:16:06. > :16:39.time-out by Russia, they need to reset rings. -- things.

:16:40. > :16:48.So the instruction is, you have got to drive in, to go on the attack. A

:16:49. > :16:51.little later, but a little faster. They are running into early and

:16:52. > :16:56.having to check the runs, the French. The Russians, well, they are

:16:57. > :17:01.punishing the French for their wastefulness in shooting at the

:17:02. > :17:07.other end. Six and a half minutes on the clock in the Olympic final.

:17:08. > :17:19.France 15-17 Russia, it has been a fascinating women's handball

:17:20. > :17:26.tournament. Driving in, and scoring the goal. The gap is back up to

:17:27. > :17:28.three now. The defending by Russia forcing them back again. The

:17:29. > :17:53.substitutions being made. Dancette Coming in for the injured

:17:54. > :17:56.right-winger, France was only one right-winger, and a very poor

:17:57. > :18:02.long-range shot that. But at least she has got the nerves to do it in

:18:03. > :18:06.her very first competition, she only played her first matches for France

:18:07. > :18:10.earlier this year in the qualifiers versus Iceland and Switzerland, this

:18:11. > :18:21.is opposition of a rather higher calibre.

:18:22. > :18:27.Bobrovnikova, again, crossed the goal, it has worked a couple of

:18:28. > :18:30.times before. And it is the shot that is starting to make the

:18:31. > :18:39.Russians believe it could either a year. You can see the reactions on

:18:40. > :18:45.the bench. But Dembele, 16-19, you just feel like we will get a

:18:46. > :18:52.grandstand finish. Great work from Bobrovnikova, but then straight up

:18:53. > :18:58.the other end for Dembele to fire it into the net. Three girls in it

:18:59. > :19:07.still. Given how hard the goals are to come by three is able to make up.

:19:08. > :19:12.Again, a late blow from the referee. Bobrovnikova, she probably agrees

:19:13. > :19:20.with the call. At the clock is ticking away relentlessly.

:19:21. > :19:34.Long-range shot, and a cheeky one there for the French to concede.

:19:35. > :19:40.Taking a chance, and Dmitriyeva coming away with a goal. Dembele,

:19:41. > :19:49.came across to help, but it did not matter, because Dmitriyeva scored.

:19:50. > :19:54.Here, France again. When the little bounce. Coming inside. Look how busy

:19:55. > :19:58.the Russian defences. France is trying their best to find some room.

:19:59. > :20:03.The coach is bellowing on the touchline to his defence. Dembele, a

:20:04. > :20:25.little shimmy, and a good goal from Gnonsiane Niombla but Fran

:20:26. > :20:30.still need to make up a 3-goal deficit. They will need a lot more

:20:31. > :20:35.than that, she has not taken her chances in the game so far.

:20:36. > :20:42.Bobrovnikova Coming back in. The industrious Dmitriyeva looking for

:20:43. > :20:46.space. And it is a free throw and the clock is ticking away

:20:47. > :20:51.relentlessly, the time is very much against France, and at the Russians

:20:52. > :20:56.look good for gold unless France can find something very special. And

:20:57. > :21:10.that is a penalty, again, driving into six metres. Vyakhireva, causing

:21:11. > :21:13.problems, and Dembele shops are over, and the coach knows that the

:21:14. > :21:16.opportunities for France are slipping away. Stepping up to take

:21:17. > :21:32.the penalty, Ilina, over the top, completely

:21:33. > :21:41.missed it, is it a lifeline for France? If it is, they need to sort

:21:42. > :21:48.out their shooting. And that is one back again. Within two now, France.

:21:49. > :21:55.The birthday girl on the bench watches, as far in the corner as you

:21:56. > :22:01.can get, great height. 83 kilometres an hour. We are inside the last two

:22:02. > :22:06.minutes. France are defending deep. The line will have a bit of space,

:22:07. > :22:11.but the Russians respond by putting in a second line player. Briefly she

:22:12. > :22:16.comes back out again. No way through, it is a free throw, but

:22:17. > :22:20.that is fine, it runs down the clock. The French are begging for

:22:21. > :22:27.the clock to be stopped, the Norwegian referee shakes her head,

:22:28. > :22:31.but a team time-out? Is it? They are taken, there you go. One and a half

:22:32. > :23:02.minutes to go. He wants the players to be more

:23:03. > :23:06.aggressive in defence, go up quick and then let the Russians drive in

:23:07. > :23:10.for the attacking foul so we can turn it over. We see some of the

:23:11. > :23:17.action from the game so far. France Trail by two. One and a half minutes

:23:18. > :23:23.to go. Sharing the goal, then sitting down and realising they are

:23:24. > :23:29.still not quite there yet. Pineau, has done so much. So, defending a

:23:30. > :23:33.long way and. Try to steal the ball. One and a half minutes is enough

:23:34. > :23:42.time but if Russia keep their head then the gold medal is theirs. They

:23:43. > :23:51.have had three passes. Four, five. Surely, one pass and a short... Oh!

:23:52. > :23:58.Diagonal shot again! The bench is in raptures and that could be it. Here,

:23:59. > :24:02.France, it is now or never. The whistle goes for a free throw. One

:24:03. > :24:08.minute left. They are three goals behind. A little fumble. Picked up

:24:09. > :24:20.again, and the back of the net is found, 50 seconds. We see the goal

:24:21. > :24:23.again, Pineau fumbled it, but somehow the situation is rescued, a

:24:24. > :24:29.bit of luck for the French. The coach cannot believe it. The French

:24:30. > :24:37.are individually marking, exactly the right thing, right through the

:24:38. > :24:42.middle, looking for the foul, and Vyakhireva gets it, and the clock is

:24:43. > :24:48.being run down. And another girl, and that is it. Russia will take the

:24:49. > :24:52.gold. France tried so hard but in the end of their work to many

:24:53. > :24:57.mistakes. Their heads are dropping ever so slightly, the gap is too big

:24:58. > :25:05.now. Maybe one last goal for the honour? Pineau Does not look

:25:06. > :25:06.interested. There it is. Gold for Russia. What a moment for their

:25:07. > :25:15.team. We can take you across to a packed

:25:16. > :25:20.Maracana Stadium where the host nation Brazil are hoping to win the

:25:21. > :27:07.gold medal. We join it at the Brazilian national anthem.

:27:08. > :27:14.Sounds like an incredible atmosphere. At half-time in this

:27:15. > :27:19.game and we will speak to three of the gold medal stars from the Team

:27:20. > :27:22.GB hockey finalist yesterday, but commentary of this gold medal match

:27:23. > :27:30.comes from Kevin Caliban and Alistair man.

:27:31. > :27:37.Try telling those inside the Maracana Stadium that this is not

:27:38. > :27:40.the World Cup final. The two most successful football nations on earth

:27:41. > :27:44.meet in one of the most iconic stadiums in the world, both hoping

:27:45. > :27:49.to achieve something neither has done before, securing an Olympic

:27:50. > :27:53.gold-medal. If that is not tantalising enough it is also an

:27:54. > :27:58.opportunity for the host nation to seek revenge for a humiliating

:27:59. > :28:03.defeat two years ago to Germany, 7-1, ending their hopes of winning

:28:04. > :28:09.their home World Cup, a moment that plunged this proud footballing

:28:10. > :28:14.nation into a state of dejection and total disbelief. In reality it means

:28:15. > :28:19.there is an enormous amount of expectation resting on the young

:28:20. > :28:24.shoulders of what is ostensibly the under 23 team. You are allowed three

:28:25. > :28:28.overage players. They have kept the same starting XI who got them this

:28:29. > :28:42.far. Their three overage players are in goal, Augusto, and of course,

:28:43. > :28:48.Neymar. He has so far been outstanding. He has never shirked

:28:49. > :28:53.responsibility. He, more than any other, feels as though there is some

:28:54. > :28:59.sort of redemption to be gained from that 7-1 capitulation against

:29:00. > :29:06.Germany. Germany, so far, have outscored the hosts. They have

:29:07. > :29:10.scored 21 goals in five games. Like the hosts, they failed the same

:29:11. > :29:18.starting XI, only two of their three overage players are included, the

:29:19. > :29:23.Bender brothers. The other, Peterson, takes a place on the

:29:24. > :29:41.bench, despite being their joint top scorer. In charge of Germany, the

:29:42. > :29:45.former international striker Horst Hrubesch. Germany showed two years

:29:46. > :29:52.ago they were able to ignore the sense of occasion and focus on the

:29:53. > :29:57.task at hand regardless of whether they would be cast as the ultimate

:29:58. > :30:00.party poopers. If ever there was a set of players capable of breaking

:30:01. > :30:05.hearts all over again, it is surely the Germans. Even if on this

:30:06. > :30:13.extraordinary occasion it is that under 23 side, and not be seen

:30:14. > :30:21.yours. -- the seniors. Only one of either squad was even available for

:30:22. > :30:26.the World Cup final two years ago. Neymar, he was injured for that

:30:27. > :30:29.much. So in reality a revenge mission is certainly not on the

:30:30. > :30:35.agenda of those out there this evening.

:30:36. > :30:42.If there's one side you feel can spoil the party, who can once again

:30:43. > :30:47.do what the senior side have done, it is the German side. It certainly

:30:48. > :30:53.is and you look throughout the side, and you have out here so much

:30:54. > :31:00.experience, so much first-class experience. So they used to these

:31:01. > :31:06.locations. -- these big locations. That is what is playing in their

:31:07. > :31:10.hands. In the front four of the Brazilians, they are very talented.

:31:11. > :31:19.That front four, they can cause Germany a lot of problems this

:31:20. > :31:24.evening. The Brazilian coach was quick to point out to the pre-match

:31:25. > :31:27.press conference that how can it be a revenge mission when nobody out

:31:28. > :31:38.there played their part two years ago? Neymar will feel this is an

:31:39. > :31:45.opportunity to make up for being injured in that semifinal. He

:31:46. > :31:52.certainly wants to be very determined. And he wants to earn his

:31:53. > :31:57.country their first gold medal. It is a very different task for Brazil

:31:58. > :32:09.this evening from the semifinal with Honduras. Germany are much better

:32:10. > :32:13.than Honduras. Scoring within 14 seconds, that set the tone for the

:32:14. > :32:19.game. They weren't as dynamic, Germany, against Nigeria as you'd

:32:20. > :32:26.have hoped. There are different dynamics and this game and it will

:32:27. > :32:35.be intriguing. The crowd are a sell-out crowd. Seven Olympic

:32:36. > :32:43.football medals between them but neither of these great footballing

:32:44. > :32:54.nations have ever won a gold medal. The feature of the German play is

:32:55. > :33:05.how the fullbacks push on. Brazil's quartet of attacking players, led by

:33:06. > :33:09.Neymar, and Gabriel Jesus, they will try to exploit the fact the two

:33:10. > :33:22.fullbacks push on as regularly as they do. It is the movement, Gabriel

:33:23. > :33:26.and Gabriel Jesus... Brandt tries to create the genuine first opening.

:33:27. > :33:34.Good counterattack from Germany. We've seen it so often throughout

:33:35. > :33:45.this tournament. It's how he drives inside, Gnabry, and creates

:33:46. > :33:51.goal-scoring opportunities. Brandt also likes to find himself in good

:33:52. > :33:55.goal-scoring positions. Kevin alluded to the amount of

:33:56. > :34:02.experienced... That Germany have at their disposal. Almost every single

:34:03. > :34:08.member of the 18 have a least one season in the Bundesliga behind

:34:09. > :34:15.them. Everywhere you look within their ranks, from the goalkeeper

:34:16. > :34:24.Timo Horn, right through to Arsenal's Serge Gnabry, they are all

:34:25. > :34:33.players who are freshfaced, but have an enormous wealth of experience.

:34:34. > :34:40.Ginter was part of the World Cup squad that lifted the big trophy

:34:41. > :34:51.itself two years ago. Excellent cover, just tracking

:34:52. > :35:01.the run of Barbosa. So invariably you'll find Neymar and Barbosa

:35:02. > :35:08.picking each other out. We mentioned about Brazil's full-backs but

:35:09. > :35:17.Brazil's full-backs like high energy. They get forward really

:35:18. > :35:25.well. Gabriel Jesus scored a couple of goals in the semifinal.

:35:26. > :35:31.Manchester City player, officially. Weverton thumps it into the depths

:35:32. > :35:37.of the stands. Just as we talk about the Germany full-backs, right on

:35:38. > :35:43.cue, Klostermann is onside, it is overhit a little bit but as we were

:35:44. > :35:47.saying at the start, so many different facets of this game that

:35:48. > :35:51.are really intriguing. How can Germany block Brazil and Brazil with

:35:52. > :35:55.the free-flowing style they play with, with the front four staying

:35:56. > :36:02.forward, leaving gaps, but they rely heavily on the attacking threat they

:36:03. > :36:11.have, the Brazil side. The atmosphere is fantastic. The

:36:12. > :36:20.referee, by the way, is from Iran. He has decided not to brandish a

:36:21. > :36:24.card to Lars Bender, but he will be on his final warning, you fancy.

:36:25. > :36:30.He's lucky to get away with that. That is clear obstruction. There's

:36:31. > :36:36.two, the two Bender twins, bringing experience to this side. When the

:36:37. > :36:39.full-backs get forward, those two, Sven Bender and Lars Bender, they

:36:40. > :36:50.have the awareness to sit in and cover.

:36:51. > :36:54.Renato Augusto, one of those overage players permitted for the Brazilian

:36:55. > :37:15.side. I think Manchester City are going to

:37:16. > :37:19.enjoy watching Gabriel Jesus when he eventually comes to the Premier

:37:20. > :37:25.League. Such a dynamic player, a real threat in front of goal.

:37:26. > :37:38.Coming into tonight's game, Gabriel Barbosa has three, Gabriel Jesus has

:37:39. > :37:50.three, Neymar has the grave. The front four has 11 between them.

:37:51. > :37:53.Germany with six goals for Gnabry and seven for Nils Petersen, so they

:37:54. > :37:59.both have plenty of goals between them. What is most noticeable is

:38:00. > :38:03.that Brazil are yet to concede a single goal in this tournament so

:38:04. > :38:10.far. We haven't said that too often in a Brazil side! As the Germany,

:38:11. > :38:12.they haven't conceded a single goal in their last three matches, so what

:38:13. > :38:52.is going to give? Neymar is determined enough to

:38:53. > :38:59.retain possession. He got his shirt tugged as he did. And that was

:39:00. > :39:05.Bender. Essentially for Brazil, with Neymar, he likes to play through the

:39:06. > :39:14.middle but when he drops deep, Luan drops deep so there is good

:39:15. > :39:21.possession for them. Germany have to try to silence the crowd. They have

:39:22. > :39:28.not managed that in the opening nine minutes. The flag goes up. 79,000

:39:29. > :39:33.similarly so inside the Maracana. That is correct from the assistant

:39:34. > :39:38.referee from the far side. He strayed offside, Gabriel Jesus. But

:39:39. > :39:49.the atmosphere is electric in the Maracana tonight.

:39:50. > :40:00.Germany silenced the crowd two years ago, banging in so many goals. It

:40:01. > :40:04.was a moment really when you had to rub your eyes and check what was

:40:05. > :40:08.going on in front of you, whether you are a neutral or a fan of

:40:09. > :40:15.Brazil, it was an astonishing evening.

:40:16. > :40:29.That was a decent effort! That was Julian Brandt, who almost dead

:40:30. > :40:33.silence the Maracana. He is a wonderful talent, plays the Bayer

:40:34. > :40:37.Leverkusen, has plenty of Champions League experience, and a senior cap

:40:38. > :40:45.as well, and he almost gave Germany the opener. It's a free kick. This

:40:46. > :40:51.is an opportunity to have a look at that effort again. Well, Weverton is

:40:52. > :41:02.well beaten in goal. Good effort from Bender to find Gnabry. It is a

:41:03. > :41:07.lovely strike and the goalkeeper as well beaten. He's so unlucky he

:41:08. > :41:19.can't get enough to dip it under the crossbar. And there's the warning.

:41:20. > :41:22.Full quality in this side. Brazil are throwing bodies forward, they

:41:23. > :41:29.getting caught out, too many getting advanced of the ball. It was

:41:30. > :41:34.actually Sven Bender that picked Gnabry out. He had the vision to

:41:35. > :41:46.spot that he had so much space on the left hand side. Max Meyer,

:41:47. > :41:51.another wonderfully gifted footballer, plays his football for

:41:52. > :42:00.Schalke, made his Bundesliga debut at 17. He, too, has a full cap. He's

:42:01. > :42:06.a super player. Six goals, eight assists last season, you can see his

:42:07. > :42:12.contribution to a top side. Just shows the strength within this

:42:13. > :42:17.German side and scored in general. Brazil are going to have to earn the

:42:18. > :42:22.right to win this gold medal. No matter how much support they get

:42:23. > :42:26.from the Maracana or the will of 200 million people all over the country.

:42:27. > :42:47.They have work to do. You can hear the roar every time the

:42:48. > :42:52.ball gets into the possession of Neymar but Germany are brilliantly

:42:53. > :42:57.organised and terrific the talented. That was a half chance for Neymar.

:42:58. > :43:01.Could he have taken the strike early on his left foot? Always wants the

:43:02. > :43:26.stronger right foot but it was a good ball.

:43:27. > :43:32.Gabriel Barbosa, will Manchester United are one of the sites linked

:43:33. > :43:50.with him. And Luan. Neymar again! Santos with a cross

:43:51. > :43:55.and a half chance! That was Luan straight into the ground. And it

:43:56. > :44:00.lost much of its staying as a consequence but that has got the

:44:01. > :44:04.Maracana buzzing again. -- it lost much of its stinger. That was

:44:05. > :44:12.brilliantly worked from Brazil from out to the right-hand side, starting

:44:13. > :44:18.with Gabriel Barbosa, freeing up Renato Augusto, who then freed up

:44:19. > :44:22.Neymar, who picked out Douglas Santos. Could he have done better

:44:23. > :44:28.with the strike, Luan? It is a very good stand up and I think you should

:44:29. > :44:33.have done better. I think it was a fairly easy one to hit. He gets the

:44:34. > :44:37.strike on target but not hold of it at all. Excellent chance for Brazil.

:44:38. > :44:39.They could have another one here because a free kick has been

:44:40. > :45:05.awarded, too. That is retrieved by Gabriel

:45:06. > :45:11.Barbosa. Picking out Neymar. Walace. Try to work something, Luan. Trawled

:45:12. > :45:17.on the ball at the vital moment. You could hear 79,000 groans. He was

:45:18. > :45:25.looking for the past before he had it under control. Excellent movement

:45:26. > :45:32.from Neymar. Plenty to admire from both teams. This will be a titanic

:45:33. > :45:43.tussle, no mistake. Gabriel Barbosa. Followed by Gnabry. Neymar was

:45:44. > :45:49.closest but time for Horn to gather it up. Gabriel Barbosa almost runs

:45:50. > :45:55.through players with his strength and physicality. Gabriel Jesus, and

:45:56. > :46:03.the other side, looks to come off the left-hand side onto his stronger

:46:04. > :46:11.right foot. Neymar tries to nudge it around Bender. Play on was initially

:46:12. > :46:24.waved but there was not much of an advantage for Brazil so it is now a

:46:25. > :46:32.free kick to the hosts. High boot. Good opportunity. We'll Neymar take

:46:33. > :46:37.it on? It looks like he is going to. Half a dozen attempts from this kind

:46:38. > :46:40.of distance. One went into the side netting, forcing a save from the

:46:41. > :46:46.Honda was Cooper from the other. Two or three went straight into the

:46:47. > :47:16.centre of the wall. -- the Honduras keeper.

:47:17. > :47:34.In truth that was quite easily dealt with. There is Neymar again. He

:47:35. > :47:41.was so determined in the semifinal. He got rough treatment, he was

:47:42. > :47:48.battered and bruised, but never shied away from the responsibility

:47:49. > :47:52.of leading the side by example. Worth noting that like in many

:47:53. > :48:04.tournaments there is no obligation under

:48:05. > :48:11.Fifa rules for clubs to release players. But Neymar practically

:48:12. > :48:16.demanded he was released. There was no debate about it. There was

:48:17. > :48:19.physicality in the semifinals but the Brazilian players themselves can

:48:20. > :48:22.cope with it and from a defence of point of view they have one or two

:48:23. > :48:29.players who do like a physical challenge. They have a flamboyant,

:48:30. > :48:40.skilful element, but also an element that can mix it up and cope with the

:48:41. > :48:47.physical side. This is actually the fourth time that Brazil have reached

:48:48. > :48:50.the gold medal match. They have lost all three previous including in

:48:51. > :48:59.London, surprisingly defeated and Mexico. -- defeated by. Luan, clever

:49:00. > :49:11.ball, difficult to defend, but defended it was by Suele. Excellent

:49:12. > :49:15.play by Luan, shifting it onto his left foot, playing in behind.

:49:16. > :49:21.Gabriel Barbosa checked his run, expecting it to be stood up to the

:49:22. > :49:30.far post. If he continued the run I think he had a tap in. A damp

:49:31. > :49:40.evening. The temperature is warm but not too warm. The corner is

:49:41. > :49:48.brilliantly swung in. And Horn got some sort of clearance on it. No one

:49:49. > :49:53.really attacked it in the Brazil side, as a consequence of Germany

:49:54. > :49:57.were able to get it away. Excellent ball played in. Brazil have

:49:58. > :50:03.certainly had the better of the opening 20 minutes of this game. Of

:50:04. > :50:06.course Germany had the better chance with Brandt hitting the bar but

:50:07. > :50:09.Priscilla have really grown into the game and created a few openings with

:50:10. > :50:14.out any real clear-cut chances at the moment. -- but Brazil have

:50:15. > :50:23.really grown into the game. Marquinhos. The player other than

:50:24. > :50:30.the front four who has scored in this tournament. Scored one of the

:50:31. > :50:48.six goals against Honduras in the semifinal.

:50:49. > :50:58.Luan. Caught in possession. But it was a foul, says the referee. It is

:50:59. > :51:04.fair to say that Bender does not agree with the decision. He took a

:51:05. > :51:10.chance, Luan, were still sending bodies forward very quickly. Five or

:51:11. > :51:13.six players in advance of him. That is why ending was so frustrated

:51:14. > :51:39.because he knew the break was on for Germany. Suele. I Augusto,

:51:40. > :51:46.immediately finding Neymar. Brandt. The challenge again by Augusto, he

:51:47. > :51:52.is playing well. On toward Gabriel Barbosa. He could not take it on his

:51:53. > :52:01.stride. It is when Brazil get to the edge of that area, they are just

:52:02. > :52:06.thirsting for the opening goal. This home crowd... That is when the crowd

:52:07. > :52:12.come to life, when they reach the final third. They want attacking

:52:13. > :52:16.players. Both full-backs like to get forward in support. And it is the

:52:17. > :52:21.amount of bodies they get forward, they will be exposed at times, but

:52:22. > :52:22.the movement and intricacy of the passing, that is what frees up the

:52:23. > :52:47.players and gives them the chances. A good corner. The smallest of touch

:52:48. > :52:51.is from Rodrigo Caio, Augusto is wondering if you might not have been

:52:52. > :52:56.the better placed person to go for it. It was a decent chance.

:52:57. > :53:05.Klostermann, the left-back, did not pick up either Brazilian player.

:53:06. > :53:23.Most of the Brazilian players play their club football in Brazil.

:53:24. > :53:30.Marquinhos, at Paris St German is an exception. Although Gabriel Jesus is

:53:31. > :53:46.a Manchester City player who still plays his club football with Palm

:53:47. > :53:49.heiress. -- Palmeiras. The zillion club sides with talent are

:53:50. > :53:56.constantly scouted by the top sides in Europe. -- Brazilian club side.

:53:57. > :54:04.Excellent movement to get forward. Try to stand it up to the far post

:54:05. > :54:13.with Selke and Gnabry making up the ground to get into the penalty area.

:54:14. > :54:20.We are at the midpoint of a fascinating first half. It has

:54:21. > :54:28.certainly lived up to the pre-match hype. Here is Neymar. Drawing the

:54:29. > :54:37.foul. Expecting to be filed, I think, by Bender. Yes, his movement

:54:38. > :54:45.again, coming deep, very elusive, difficult to mark. That is why

:54:46. > :55:06.Bender has got to pick up the runs of Neymar. Douglas Santos. Just

:55:07. > :55:18.about cleared by Del Potro. -- by Ginter. Rodrigo Caio. Here is

:55:19. > :55:26.Neymar. A free kick again. The referee waiting to see if Brazil had

:55:27. > :55:30.an advantage. The ball was actually getting away from Neymar, but it is

:55:31. > :55:41.a clear foul. This is a little closer to goal. Right in Neymar

:55:42. > :55:52.territory. He has started the game well, hasn't he? Could this be the

:55:53. > :55:55.moment? Injured in the World Cup quarterfinal, in tears when he

:55:56. > :56:02.realised his World Cup was over before the semifinal even took place

:56:03. > :56:10.against Germany. Desperate to try to make up for his absence, which, it

:56:11. > :56:15.certainly cannot be blamed on him, that defeat, but the fact he could

:56:16. > :56:25.not participate means that he feels there is unfinished business he has

:56:26. > :56:35.to complete. Those magical boots are the key to unlocking Germany here.

:56:36. > :56:43.Here comes Neymar. It is in the back of the net! Right on cue, the

:56:44. > :56:47.darling of Brazil provides the opening goal, and you can probably

:56:48. > :56:50.hear that the roof of the Maracana Stadium is starting to reverberate.

:56:51. > :57:02.Drizzle are ahead in the 27th minute. What a goal. Truly

:57:03. > :57:06.outstanding from Neymar. Horn in goal cannot be anywhere near it, it

:57:07. > :57:12.is the power and precision of the crossbar, he could not have struck

:57:13. > :57:16.it any better, and what a super goal to open what has been a very

:57:17. > :57:24.entertaining half an hour in this gold medal match. What a goal. I

:57:25. > :57:36.said at the start, tell me this is not the World Cup final. It is what

:57:37. > :57:41.they wanted to see two years ago at the Maracana Stadium. But this is

:57:42. > :57:46.the second opportunity on home soil. And Neymar is not going to pass up

:57:47. > :57:51.the opportunity this time. That is the way he feels, it is the way we

:57:52. > :57:59.Brazilian supporters feel. Brazil 1-0 Germany. We spoke of revenge. It

:58:00. > :58:02.has been downplayed with the Brazilian squad and management team

:58:03. > :58:07.but certainly not with the supporters. They want revenge

:58:08. > :58:12.against Germany and there is no better man than Neymar to open the

:58:13. > :58:15.scoring. There is over an hour of this game still to go and the

:58:16. > :58:22.celebrations cannot get too exuberant. But there is no silencing

:58:23. > :58:35.the home crowd today. Just listen to the noise. Fantastic. Something we

:58:36. > :58:39.spoke about the semifinal as well. If they wanted one gold medal from

:58:40. > :58:43.this tournament, the Brazilian public, it was the football. They

:58:44. > :58:51.are certainly on the road to getting it now. We were hoping the host

:58:52. > :58:56.nation might win the women's version as well but they were surprisingly

:58:57. > :58:59.defeated in the semifinals, in fact they did not even get the bronze

:59:00. > :59:09.medal, defeated in that match as well. That heat even more pressure

:59:10. > :59:15.on the men's team. -- heaped. But look at the stands, the crowd, it is

:59:16. > :59:20.just phenomenal. I am sure that on beaches up and down the country, in

:59:21. > :59:24.houses up and down the country, there are similar scenes of

:59:25. > :59:29.unbridled joy. But there is still one hour of action to go. And

:59:30. > :59:37.Germany have the quality to find their way back into the game. He is

:59:38. > :59:49.a com, with major and Gnabry -- here they come, with Meyer. Germany are

:59:50. > :59:53.so effective when Brazil do give the ball way in the middle third or the

:59:54. > :59:58.final third, they are so effective at moving it quickly and setting up

:59:59. > :00:03.Gnabry, he is the real threat, and he has started the game well. Zeca

:00:04. > :00:09.knew exactly what he was doing because he was beaten for pace. An

:00:10. > :00:14.easy decision for the referee to give the yellow card. It is one

:00:15. > :00:19.thing to say to a senior side, be cool and manage the game and do the

:00:20. > :00:24.right things, but these are players of 19, 20, 21 years old. It is not

:00:25. > :00:31.quite as easy to be as cool under pressure. Can they defend this free

:00:32. > :00:36.kick? They almost don't. It clips the frame of the goal for a second

:00:37. > :00:41.time, I think it was Suele who got a touch, deflected on the way through.

:00:42. > :00:51.I think it came off Marquinhos in the end, he diverted over his

:00:52. > :00:59.crossbar. Excellent movement from Selke, but they get away with it,

:01:00. > :01:04.Brazil. And another terrific save! Ginter, tries to get the rebound in,

:01:05. > :01:19.and again Weverton comes to the rescue! A couple of a fight. So. --

:01:20. > :01:22.a couple of vital stops. The awareness and division and the

:01:23. > :01:30.technique. Excellent striking, good from Weverton.

:01:31. > :01:36.You can hear the screaming audibly around the Maracana as it looked

:01:37. > :01:45.like Germany would going to draw level. It is a fabulous occasion, it

:01:46. > :01:51.really years. He did well, Weverton, to get some power and palm it away.

:01:52. > :01:57.He didn't leave an easy tap in for the Germans. They couldn't adjust

:01:58. > :02:06.their feet and get the strike on target. It looked as though Ginter

:02:07. > :02:07.might be despatching the rebound but he didn't get the connection on the

:02:08. > :02:25.ball. That is a foul and a free kick to

:02:26. > :02:31.Germany. It is a good five minutes since they conceded the goal.

:02:32. > :02:36.They've got to be careful, Brazil. Going in front is great but they are

:02:37. > :02:40.retreating too deep, allowing too much pressure. And we've spoken

:02:41. > :02:45.about the quality within this German side, they could hurt Brazil if they

:02:46. > :02:49.continued to drop deep like this. It is an easy thing to say but the

:02:50. > :02:53.Brazilian players can't afford to get wrapped up in the atmosphere, in

:02:54. > :03:15.the occasion. They've got to keep focused.

:03:16. > :03:22.There are five players in advanced positions but the pass was not good

:03:23. > :03:27.enough. Toljan intervenes for Germany. He chose the wrong option.

:03:28. > :03:35.There was Neymar in the middle, there was a great chance for Luan to

:03:36. > :03:37.pick him out. It is so frenetic, all a little bit lasted. The intensity

:03:38. > :03:50.is so apparent. That is a foul right on the edge of

:03:51. > :03:54.the area, Gabriel Jesus diving in. I can see the referee giving another

:03:55. > :04:03.card out here. He's high, Gabriel Jesus. He's late, he's from behind,

:04:04. > :04:08.poor challenge from him. This is a chance for Germany. They are

:04:09. > :04:12.excellent from set plays. I think Meyer will be on them and with the

:04:13. > :04:14.power and strength in the air they have, the Germans, it is a real

:04:15. > :04:27.opportunity for them. If Germany were to equalise, it

:04:28. > :04:35.would be difficult to say they haven't deserved it. Hrubesch would

:04:36. > :04:41.be delighted with the response from his players.

:04:42. > :04:52.It hits the frame of the girl again! Well, Sven Bender stooped, flicked

:04:53. > :05:03.it goal bound, couldn't score. It is a well played free kick. It is the

:05:04. > :05:10.movement from Sven Bender, getting across Augusto, trying to get the

:05:11. > :05:17.header downwards, he can't. So unlucky to hit the crossbar. Brazil

:05:18. > :05:23.might be in front, but Germany have had better efforts and have hit the

:05:24. > :05:29.frame of the goal on three opportunities. It has been a superb

:05:30. > :05:33.opening 35 minutes. Germany have had their chances but Brazil are a real

:05:34. > :05:57.threat when they get into this sort of area.

:05:58. > :06:06.A real excellent injection of pace by the role Wideman, Gabriel Barbosa

:06:07. > :06:10.and Gabriel Jesus. It is the little one tos they play, it is difficult

:06:11. > :06:19.for the German defenders to track their runs. As you saw, there are

:06:20. > :06:21.pockets of German supporters, but, as you can understand, they are

:06:22. > :06:55.enormously outnumbered. Not really had a sustained spell of

:06:56. > :07:02.possession since they took the lead, have they, Brazil? They are settling

:07:03. > :07:06.the game down here. It is a more experienced Renato Augusto, he is

:07:07. > :07:13.settling the players down. A little bit of possession won't do them any

:07:14. > :07:19.harm. Renato Augusto spent four years in the Bundesliga with Bayer

:07:20. > :07:28.Leverkusen. 28 years old now. Current Brazilian international. So

:07:29. > :07:32.much depends on the likes of him and obviously Neymar, but particularly

:07:33. > :07:35.Renato Augusto now they are in front to try to keep the emotions of the

:07:36. > :07:44.younger players from getting carried away. Another Mexican wave breaks

:07:45. > :07:50.out. Still not afraid of sending bodies forward, the Brazilians.

:07:51. > :07:54.Santos getting forward beyond Luan and Luan should have picked him up

:07:55. > :07:55.because it was a real chance to pick the left-back and get into a good

:07:56. > :08:33.position. This is what they needed to do in

:08:34. > :08:36.the minute straight after they took the lead, Brazil, but Germany didn't

:08:37. > :08:49.let them. It is an excellent spell of possession for Brazil. Free kick

:08:50. > :08:56.to Germany. Neymar on Sule. What a goal, super goal. Did it get a

:08:57. > :09:01.slight touch coming over? It was the pace and power on the strike that

:09:02. > :09:18.beat him. It is precision, such a fabulous goal.

:09:19. > :09:27.Could have done better from that position, Germany. Yes, that is

:09:28. > :09:32.Brazil again, becoming exposed, sending bodies forward which gives a

:09:33. > :09:39.chance for Meyer to pick out Gnabry. His chosen the wrong option in

:09:40. > :09:45.picking out Selke. Two bronze medals is all Germany have managed

:09:46. > :09:49.throughout their many years of attempting to win the Olympic

:09:50. > :09:53.football tournament. They had a dreadful spell at not being able to

:09:54. > :09:58.even qualify for the Olympic tournament. Prior to this, the last

:09:59. > :10:10.participation was in Seoul in 1988. Luan tries to tiptoe his way through

:10:11. > :10:14.and he wins a corner. That's the movement I spoke about, with Neymar

:10:15. > :10:23.and Luan, they interchange positions very well. Luan recognised there was

:10:24. > :10:25.space centrally. Just couldn't quite get the strike away, and it was good

:10:26. > :10:37.defending from Ginter in the end. Playing his part in geeing up the

:10:38. > :11:01.Maracana. They love that! No end product, but

:11:02. > :11:07.he is a showman, and he is on one of the biggest stages of all. Probably

:11:08. > :11:12.a little early for his tricks. We need the second goal before, then

:11:13. > :11:41.I'm sure they will see the party pieces coming out.

:11:42. > :11:48.One or two teams might have started to capitulate with the momentum that

:11:49. > :11:53.was building up and the atmosphere in the stadium against them. This

:11:54. > :11:57.German side are magnificent. Their character and question. That

:11:58. > :12:02.deflected shot made it easy for Weverton together. He is a threat,

:12:03. > :12:12.Meyer, centrally. It was a good block from Koster. He didn't deal

:12:13. > :12:18.with it in the most comfortable of manner but he managed to keep it

:12:19. > :12:23.from going over the line. Took it very close to the line. He

:12:24. > :12:27.recognised it was backing off. He knew he was going to be travelling

:12:28. > :12:34.back towards his own goal line so he had the presence to palm the ball in

:12:35. > :12:45.front of the line. A couple of glimpses of the Brazilian coach. He

:12:46. > :12:54.has been coaching for many years in Brazil, almost always youth teams,

:12:55. > :12:57.under 20, U21. And the under 23s. Not one of the more high-profile

:12:58. > :13:01.coaches but he will have the freedom of Brazil if he can guide his side

:13:02. > :13:11.to their first ever Olympic gold medal. Extremely impressed with this

:13:12. > :13:17.man, Renato Augusto. He has settled them down when it looked like they

:13:18. > :13:21.would getting back on top, Germany, after conceding. He has settled

:13:22. > :13:30.Brazil down and slowed the game down a little. It's worth reminding, 12

:13:31. > :13:36.goals in five games prior to this game, yet to concede in 43.5 minutes

:13:37. > :13:43.as well. They could keep another clean sheet. And get the gold medal.

:13:44. > :13:48.That would be some achievement if you can win the tournament without

:13:49. > :13:57.conceding. Particularly with the sides they've played against. Yellow

:13:58. > :14:06.card for Gabriel Barbosa. Just for the way in which he held Sven Bender

:14:07. > :14:18.back. Has the nickname Gabby goal. He so far has two in the tournament.

:14:19. > :14:28.The goal was on the 27th minute and since then Germany have been

:14:29. > :14:35.arguably the better side. I think we feel they could and should have

:14:36. > :14:40.equalised. Timo Horn hasn't had too much to do, in reality. The only

:14:41. > :14:47.other chance was Luan with the crossing, and Douglas Santos getting

:14:48. > :14:49.forward. Germany have had some good chances themselves. They've hit the

:14:50. > :14:56.woodwork twice. It is a late one but the referee has

:14:57. > :15:34.let it go or he didn't see it. Klostermann. Bender. Meyer Full.

:15:35. > :15:37.Ginter. Toljan. Young players, ostensibly, this German side, but

:15:38. > :15:47.the way in which they have quelled the sphere has been so admirable.

:15:48. > :15:54.There is Neymar. Terrific ball. No offside. Gabriel Barbosa, was he

:15:55. > :16:01.caught by Klostermann? Yes, says the referee. He did all the hard work,

:16:02. > :16:06.Klostermann. Gabriel Barbosa had the run of him, brilliant awareness from

:16:07. > :16:12.Neymar to pick him out, superb pace from Klostermann to get back, he did

:16:13. > :16:18.not need to commit to the challenge, it is a chance here for Brazil. Only

:16:19. > :16:21.one minute of added time and we are now entering the second minute of

:16:22. > :16:28.it, so it will literally be this free kick dispatched into the area

:16:29. > :16:39.and then the consequences of it, then the referee will blow. You

:16:40. > :16:47.imagine if Brazil can get second here... Headed our way. The referee

:16:48. > :16:52.blows his whistle. A magnificent first half. Exactly what the script

:16:53. > :16:57.writers wanted. Brazil in front, and Neymar the goal-scorer, from a free

:16:58. > :17:02.kick. So much to admire from both teams. Germany have hit the frame of

:17:03. > :17:04.the goal on a couple of occasions, this is far from over, Brazil 1-0

:17:05. > :17:18.Germany. We shall we join them for the second

:17:19. > :17:29.half of on BBC Two. Here on BBC 4-wheel something else in store.

:17:30. > :17:33.Later tonight, live on BBC Four, 1am the bronze medal matches in the tae

:17:34. > :17:41.kwon do. Bianca Walton lost her semifinal but can still win a bronze

:17:42. > :17:50.medal, and also, Mohammed Cho, in the same situation going for a

:17:51. > :17:55.bronze medal in the tae kwon do. Meantime, we have a little treat for

:17:56. > :18:02.you. Can we have a huge round of applause for gold hockey stars? Last

:18:03. > :18:13.night they did something incredible and won a gold medal for Team GB.

:18:14. > :18:20.Have you stopped in the last 24 hours? It has been a whirlwind. Not

:18:21. > :18:29.had much sleep whatsoever. What time did you try to get to sleep? About

:18:30. > :18:33.four a.m.. It is a moment which may never happen again in your life, so

:18:34. > :18:39.you have got to enjoy it, haven't you? It does not come around often

:18:40. > :18:43.and we are the first great British women's hockey team to reach the

:18:44. > :18:46.final and win the gold medal so it is something special which we will

:18:47. > :18:49.all treasure and have memories for life so, yeah, we just went a bit

:18:50. > :18:54.crazy last night and enjoyed every moment. We have loads of questions

:18:55. > :19:00.from our viewers and will get to them in a moment. But Sophie, the

:19:01. > :19:04.way that you want it, to be down on a number of occasions and comeback

:19:05. > :19:08.against the top ranked team in the world and take it to penalties, then

:19:09. > :19:14.the drama, 10 million people were watching you on BBC One. It was

:19:15. > :19:19.incredible to find that out. We went behind a couple of times but kept on

:19:20. > :19:22.bringing it back. We knew when the final whistle went and it was going

:19:23. > :19:28.to a shoot out that it would be our time. Maddie was exceptional in

:19:29. > :19:39.goals, and Holly calmly finished it off for us. I was trying to get the

:19:40. > :19:43.hash tag going yesterday, because Maddie was just outstanding. In a

:19:44. > :19:49.penalty situation in whatever sport, the goalkeeper is essential, but he

:19:50. > :19:56.had a wonderful night. We are so blessed to have four goalkeepers on

:19:57. > :20:00.the programme, and we are so blessed they are such great goalkeepers, and

:20:01. > :20:05.she is one of them, an absolute star. She does her homework, she is

:20:06. > :20:10.so diligent, and just having her behind you, you can afford to give

:20:11. > :20:14.them a few chances because she would keep them out. I don't know if you

:20:15. > :20:20.have seen the pictures everybody is looking at of the stuff she has on

:20:21. > :20:26.her water bottle? The last thing, in big letters, says, stay big. Chin

:20:27. > :20:32.up, and the numbers of various penalty takers, and who to watch out

:20:33. > :20:37.for a short corners... She does her homework, she is really in depth.

:20:38. > :20:42.They are the key points for her to focus on, to keep her calm and

:20:43. > :20:47.objective and not emotional, but she really does her homework. And she

:20:48. > :20:51.really helps these guys take their penalty shuffles. She tells them

:20:52. > :20:55.what the opponents do, what they favour in goal, and they work of

:20:56. > :21:00.that and try to score. So it works both ways in defence and attack.

:21:01. > :21:06.Would you like to see your winning penalty again? I am sure you would.

:21:07. > :21:09.Holly, talk us through what we through your head before taking

:21:10. > :21:16.this. Before taking it I am just trying to think of all the training

:21:17. > :21:22.we have done. The celebrations were crazy, I did not know what to do. I

:21:23. > :21:26.am just trying to imagine that I am training with low ones there, it is

:21:27. > :21:32.not an Olympic final, and I don't have too score to win. So you were

:21:33. > :21:38.quite calm? Thinking back, I don't know how I was so calm, it was a

:21:39. > :21:42.little bubble, it was so weird, the five of us taking them, we stood

:21:43. > :21:47.there, and even though we missed and they saved, we still believed that

:21:48. > :21:52.we were definitely going to win the shuffles. I don't know where it came

:21:53. > :22:00.from. There was not any doubt? You were really confident? Not at all.

:22:01. > :22:04.Yeah, yeah. It is amazing that you felt that way. Where did it come

:22:05. > :22:09.from? Team spirit or believe in each other? Last summer at the European

:22:10. > :22:16.Championships we took the Dutch to a shoot out. I think we practised for

:22:17. > :22:21.them a lot, and it is the belief within the team, and, yeah, I think

:22:22. > :22:28.that. How fast did you run from the...? We were not wearing GPS so

:22:29. > :22:32.we don't know for certain but it was a good old sprint. That is the

:22:33. > :22:37.highest I have ever jumped in celebration. What was lovely about

:22:38. > :22:42.that moment, and you prepare your whole life for that, but you never

:22:43. > :22:47.go through, when we win, what do I do? So everything just comes... It

:22:48. > :22:52.was a blur. Everything just seemed to stop. I did not know what to do

:22:53. > :22:57.so I just stood there and jumped around and waited for them all. At

:22:58. > :23:04.what age did you all start actually playing hockey? School or after

:23:05. > :23:10.that? School. I started when I was roughly seven. So a long time, over

:23:11. > :23:18.20 years ago. I was 12. Secondary school. I was eight, at a local

:23:19. > :23:22.hockey club. Quite a few people want to know about your nickname, the

:23:23. > :23:27.baby faced assassin. Who started it and do you like it? I can't

:23:28. > :23:32.remember, I think it might have been a few girls from the U21 team, when

:23:33. > :23:37.I played for them I was quite young and still looked quite young, so it

:23:38. > :23:44.kind of stock. Do you actually call her that? No, I think you have grown

:23:45. > :23:52.out of it now. You have another nickname though. Keeping that to

:23:53. > :23:57.yourself, good idea. What effect do you hope this will have back home on

:23:58. > :24:00.local hockey clubs? We are already hearing today about people ringing

:24:01. > :24:07.the local club and sing, can I bring my kids? For me, that is the most

:24:08. > :24:11.amazing thing. We all want a gold medal and this is amazing but to

:24:12. > :24:14.hear that, and all the messages we have had from home, and everybody

:24:15. > :24:18.who wants to get into hockey, no matter your age or your gender, that

:24:19. > :24:23.is just amazing that people will be inspired by it and are loving it.

:24:24. > :24:29.That is literally the best thing about winning this. If 1% of those

:24:30. > :24:33.10 million join a hockey club that makes a huge difference, doesn't it?

:24:34. > :24:38.That is the whole point of inspiring the next generation. I member

:24:39. > :24:42.watching Kelly Holmes and it inspired me. If you can encourage

:24:43. > :24:48.one person to take up any sport and be involved and be active and have

:24:49. > :24:52.fun, then that is job done for us. Another question, what advice would

:24:53. > :24:57.you give to an 8-10 -year-old about what sport to play? You are just

:24:58. > :25:02.saying, do something? Anything. Just enjoy it. Do not feel pressured to

:25:03. > :25:06.choose a sport to early. The more you can do, the more experience you

:25:07. > :25:11.can get from sport, it just builds you up as a person and you learn so

:25:12. > :25:15.much from it. Sacrifice is a big one as well. I know that you say, oh, I

:25:16. > :25:20.have given up all these things to get here, but the life of a sport

:25:21. > :25:23.star, yes, it has magical moments, but so much hard work goes into

:25:24. > :25:28.preparing and getting through those moments. What have you done to get

:25:29. > :25:35.here? I would call it a life choice rather than a sacrifice. Even though

:25:36. > :25:38.we don't get to do some stuff like, for instance, university, it was not

:25:39. > :25:44.the same as a normal university student. But all of that, missing

:25:45. > :25:48.out on certain bits you would have liked to have done with your

:25:49. > :25:55.friends, etc, weddings, you are not there... It is all totally worth it.

:25:56. > :26:03.100% with that, over again. All the weddings she missed, she does not

:26:04. > :26:07.care. 100%. It is a choice. And when you have got a gold medal around

:26:08. > :26:14.your neck it is completely worth it. I have nothing to add to that. How

:26:15. > :26:18.do you build your team spirit? You say you do a lot of training

:26:19. > :26:22.together, but another question leading into that, when you leave

:26:23. > :26:29.here, what do you then go back to? When you return to the UK, what

:26:30. > :26:33.happens next? Team spirit, first. A good one is these are really

:26:34. > :26:35.horrible running sessions. We have some really horrible training

:26:36. > :26:40.sessions and the best thing is when you finish and you just huddled

:26:41. > :26:45.together as a team. You are like, we have just gone through that, it will

:26:46. > :26:54.pay off in the end. So that is a key one for me. Going through hard times

:26:55. > :26:58.together really brings you together. Through the National Lottery funding

:26:59. > :27:02.we receive we are able to train together day in, day out. We know

:27:03. > :27:06.each other so well because of that. We have been through the tough times

:27:07. > :27:11.and stuck together. The belief that we have in one another is

:27:12. > :27:17.exceptional. We go out there and we know our job and we do our

:27:18. > :27:23.individual job for the team. There are 31 of us who train day in, day

:27:24. > :27:27.out, for this. And this has only been 16, plus free reserves able to

:27:28. > :27:31.come out here. So all of those people back home who could not come,

:27:32. > :27:34.and the reserves, they all deserve one of these, and we would not be

:27:35. > :27:40.here without them, because they wish us every day to get better. So the

:27:41. > :27:44.team spirit and everything we have is generated by all of those people,

:27:45. > :27:49.not just the people who are here. Did you all her family out with you?

:27:50. > :27:56.People watching, or people back home today, I imagine? My family are

:27:57. > :28:02.right over there. The majority of my family are actually out in Rio. Many

:28:03. > :28:10.of us have had parents coming out to support us. It was two to one Dutch

:28:11. > :28:15.versus British supporters yesterday, but we were definitely louder. My

:28:16. > :28:20.family is back at home but they have all been watching, cheering us on.

:28:21. > :28:24.My mum and my dad and my brothers came out, they flew back home, and

:28:25. > :28:30.then flew back for the final. So they have racked up the miles. Let's

:28:31. > :28:33.look at the medal moment. It was the longest medal ceremony I think I

:28:34. > :28:38.have ever seen in my life. 40 minutes. You have had all the

:28:39. > :28:44.adulation, jumped up and down, the emotion poured out, is this a more

:28:45. > :28:48.serious moment, an emotional moment? Is this when you think about all the

:28:49. > :28:51.hard work and the hours of practice and training and the fact you have

:28:52. > :28:56.played hockey since you were seven years old? It is a moment to

:28:57. > :29:01.reflect, almost, you have it around your neck, you have done your bit,

:29:02. > :29:06.you just think back to what it has taken to get there, and all the

:29:07. > :29:10.girls back home, we are just a small proportion of the 31 training squad,

:29:11. > :29:15.but for me, when we sang the national anthem, I do not cry, but

:29:16. > :29:20.even I cried. It is just overwhelming. To be on that podium

:29:21. > :29:27.in the gold medal position. Is it weird, watching it back? Really

:29:28. > :29:31.weird. I know this important question, what can you tell us about

:29:32. > :29:37.the party last night? Look at your faces! It was really nice. It was

:29:38. > :29:42.mostly us, some of the men's squad, and our family and friends who

:29:43. > :29:45.travelled out. It was really nice because we have not seen much of our

:29:46. > :29:50.friends and family whilst out here. We started on the first day of the

:29:51. > :29:53.Olympics and finished yesterday. And straight after one game you focus on

:29:54. > :29:58.the next so we have been in a bubble. So it was nice to get to see

:29:59. > :30:03.everyone and celebrate with them. It sounds like a good night. And what

:30:04. > :30:07.is the best thing about being in Rio, other than obviously these

:30:08. > :30:12.things around your next the moment? You say that, obviously, like you

:30:13. > :30:13.say, virtually day one until now, have you had time to do anything

:30:14. > :30:24.else? We had a trip up Sugarloaf Mountain,

:30:25. > :30:29.the views were stunning, and the people have been very friendly, and

:30:30. > :30:34.the energy is infectious. And it is a very special city. I would

:30:35. > :30:37.probably say the volunteers have been great, almost reminded me a

:30:38. > :30:40.little bit of London when they really get behind you and they've

:30:41. > :30:48.been very helpful, very supportive, and always asking for pin switches.

:30:49. > :30:53.So just the volunteers that make it very special. Just the support,

:30:54. > :30:58.whether it is Team GB support from people we have had from people who

:30:59. > :31:06.know hockey or don't know it. It's just been incredible. What now? What

:31:07. > :31:11.is the next thing? Are you going as far as Tokyo or a few months down

:31:12. > :31:16.the line? A little bit of a rest may be, first. We don't get too many

:31:17. > :31:21.holidays so a little bit of a rest personally for me, then I'm going to

:31:22. > :31:25.Vietnam's Prahalad. I have a couple of weeks off, then I'm playing out

:31:26. > :31:32.in Holland, I'm playing a season out there. Quite a few of the squad play

:31:33. > :31:37.in Holland, don't they? Yes. I'm going back to work after a couple of

:31:38. > :31:43.weeks. I work at DEFRA, I'm studying to be an accountant. It is very

:31:44. > :31:47.different. Clever and incredibly good at sport. One final thing I

:31:48. > :31:52.supposes there will be changed now in the team because your captain is

:31:53. > :31:55.moving on, you can see it is sad because you've been through this

:31:56. > :31:58.wonderful experience together but do you feel there's been a real

:31:59. > :32:02.strength amongst these players here and those that weren't able to get

:32:03. > :32:07.here that this can be continued success? Winning it is one thing but

:32:08. > :32:15.staying there is the next big step, isn't it? Massively. It is going to

:32:16. > :32:21.be a real loss, K definitely inspired meal when I was younger to

:32:22. > :32:27.play hockey. Definitely. The programme we have, thanks to UK

:32:28. > :32:30.Sport and national lottery, will enable that. And our three mottoes

:32:31. > :32:35.are inspire the future, create history, and be the difference. By

:32:36. > :32:39.the programme we set up and the girls we have got back home, we are

:32:40. > :32:51.looking to Tokyo to try to match this. Run it through again? Inspire

:32:52. > :32:55.the future, be the history, be the difference. The messages we have had

:32:56. > :32:59.today, I'm sure you've had them on your own social media accounts, and

:33:00. > :33:02.of those 10 million watching, so many have said it was a brilliant

:33:03. > :33:07.real highlight of the games for them and it was wonderful to watch and

:33:08. > :33:11.your joy and enthusiasm at the end was brilliant so congratulations on

:33:12. > :33:17.the gold medal. Give them a big round of applause. Bigger than that!

:33:18. > :33:21.It is BBC Four, you can cut loose! It's been great to have you won.

:33:22. > :33:31.Just a reminder, there's plenty more still to come tonight. We will have

:33:32. > :33:40.the taekwondo for you at one o'clock. Both are British

:33:41. > :33:45.competitors lost this semifinals but they can come away with a bronze if

:33:46. > :33:49.they win their matches. One o'clock on BBC Four. After that if you

:33:50. > :33:56.switch over to BBC One, you'll be able to see the main man in action.

:33:57. > :34:15.A story of human movement. This looks easy. It has been anything

:34:16. > :34:21.but. 1983, the start. Twin boys born in Mogadishu, Somalia. Eight years

:34:22. > :34:31.later, one twin moves to London. He loves football. Running. Running

:34:32. > :34:37.wins. There are setbacks. Disappointing performance by Mo

:34:38. > :34:44.Farah. Successes. He is destroying them in the home straight! He must

:34:45. > :34:54.change. Change routine. Coach. Change everything. He must move to

:34:55. > :35:00.move faster. Is he ready now? Is this the time? Is this the place? He

:35:01. > :35:11.is kicking again! Mo Farah is going for it! It is gold! He's the double

:35:12. > :35:16.Olympic champion! Here's our Mo nights, and this is our Motown. It

:35:17. > :35:24.becomes the motion picture of the age to be repeated and appreciated

:35:25. > :35:32.time after town. Our monumental Mo. Mo Farah at his best, Mo Farah is

:35:33. > :35:37.the world champion again. Five world titles, simply sensational. What

:35:38. > :35:53.comes next in this story of human movement? Already among the greats,

:35:54. > :35:57.can he pull clear? Rio Mo. Go, Mo. Wonderful words but here's the

:35:58. > :36:01.little plan for the evening. Just a reminder, we will go to see some

:36:02. > :36:06.water polo in a moment. Taekwondo at 1am, and Mo Farah at 1:30am. The

:36:07. > :36:19.stuff that isn't on there is your Text Santa wheats which will --

:36:20. > :36:23.which we will be reading. By popular demand, the best bits section, which

:36:24. > :36:28.lovely Tim has put together. Big thanks to him. Let's show you a bit

:36:29. > :36:32.of water polo. This is the men's gold medal match. It is Croatia

:36:33. > :36:36.taking on Serbia, and commentary on this one comes from Mark Tompkins

:36:37. > :36:38.and John Harkin. It'll be interesting to see how this is

:36:39. > :36:56.refereed. So, here we go, this is the men's

:36:57. > :37:05.final here at the Rio Olympics. Straight away, Croatia have first

:37:06. > :37:12.control of the ball thanks to their player. Garcia, playing his fourth

:37:13. > :37:30.Olympics. There is no Pavic in the starting 74 Croatia.

:37:31. > :37:34.Eight a quarter. Those 22nd exclusions could be the key to this.

:37:35. > :37:39.This will be a physical battle so the referees will be needed here.

:37:40. > :37:44.It'll be interesting to see whether or not they are heavy light.

:37:45. > :38:01.Serbia's starting line-up is just on your screens. Gocic is the captain.

:38:02. > :38:09.The left-hander, Filipovic. First save of the game made by Bijac. If

:38:10. > :38:15.you aren't going to score, get the keeper to get it over. So you get

:38:16. > :38:22.the ball back and another 30 seconds on the clock.

:38:23. > :38:30.This will force Serbia, if they can't get further in, to shoot from

:38:31. > :38:40.well out. He's going to draw the exclusion! It is the Croatian number

:38:41. > :38:45.eight that is swimming out, Andro Buslje, so the first exclusion of

:38:46. > :38:51.the final, giving Serbia a player advantage. This is where they are at

:38:52. > :38:55.their most dangerous. They move the ball around exceptionally well,

:38:56. > :39:03.drawing the Croatians out of position. It is a fairly simple

:39:04. > :39:09.goal. Great call. Zivko Gocic scores. The fact they move the

:39:10. > :39:16.players around, and had the defence guessing. That looks easy now. The

:39:17. > :39:22.other player dragged that little bit of space and up he pops, and it is a

:39:23. > :39:30.great goal, Dusko Pijetlovic. Plenty of practice has gone into scoring a

:39:31. > :39:40.goal like that. The ideal goal. They are big men. They have to miss for

:39:41. > :39:46.it not to go in. There is another exclusion here. It is Serbia's

:39:47. > :39:50.number four, Sava Randelovic. Croatia with a chance to try to get

:39:51. > :39:57.themselves back into the game in the final.

:39:58. > :40:06.Two Centre forwards in trying to keep the Serbians under pressure.

:40:07. > :40:11.And it is over the top from Setka. Because it was blocked by the

:40:12. > :40:15.defender, it'll be throw-out. This has given us a hint of how they will

:40:16. > :40:21.referee. They will try to keep this game light. They don't want them to

:40:22. > :40:29.be monster in each other. Oh! Filipovic was on but the shot was

:40:30. > :40:33.too high, of all things. It may have taken a slight deflection. He's

:40:34. > :40:39.usually so prolific in that position, Filipovic. So, Croatia

:40:40. > :40:48.survive that Serbia attack and they are back on an attack of their own.

:40:49. > :40:59.Oh, fired in! I think it might have bounced back and hit the back of the

:41:00. > :41:04.goalkeeper's head. Let's have a look at the real play. It is a marvellous

:41:05. > :41:08.shot. It has come off the crossbar, come down and hit the back of the

:41:09. > :41:16.goalkeeper, and gone in. You see this a lot. It goes in. Sandro Sukno

:41:17. > :41:24.had the shot. Off the back of Branislav Mitrovic. His 15th goal of

:41:25. > :41:25.40 attempts. It is a great percentage at this level of water

:41:26. > :41:40.polo. 1-1. Surely, there is a call! But no. He

:41:41. > :41:48.was looking for a kick out or five-metre penalty. The referees

:41:49. > :41:51.have allowed that to run on and a chance for Croatia to come forward

:41:52. > :42:10.again with Andelo Setka. The two centre forwards keeping

:42:11. > :42:15.their width. The two centre forwards is common on the fact the defence

:42:16. > :42:24.from Serbia has been very good. Great ball forward by Filipovic,

:42:25. > :42:31.here is a chance for Mandic. It went in for the second goal for Mandic.

:42:32. > :42:36.And the strength of that man... Both players had hold of each other, the

:42:37. > :42:42.defender and the man with the ball. You can hang onto him, he will do

:42:43. > :42:49.what he is doing there. That takes tremendous strength, tremendous leg

:42:50. > :42:53.strength. The left-hander gets his ninth goal of this Olympic Games and

:42:54. > :43:00.Marko Bijac is beaten again. What a great start to the final we've had,

:43:01. > :43:03.three goals in four minutes. Croatia are back on the attack again with

:43:04. > :43:20.Maro Jokovic. Garcia trying to get an angle. There

:43:21. > :43:32.will be in exclusion here against Serbia's number nine, Nikola Jaksic.

:43:33. > :43:45.Croatia have the extra man. They're going to shoot from outside. Good

:43:46. > :43:50.save. Mitrovic. Named best keeper last year, Branislav Mitrovic, so

:43:51. > :43:57.living up to the expectations here at the Olympic Games. That will be

:43:58. > :44:11.another exclusion. Good decision. Sandro Sukno. Let's see what they

:44:12. > :44:16.conjure up. Trying to draw the defenders, make some space. It

:44:17. > :44:23.bounced into the cage from another narrow angle. It is Stefan Mitrovic

:44:24. > :44:28.who gets the girl and a little bit of daylight between Serbia and

:44:29. > :44:33.Croatia. You'd have to say, not entitled to score from this angle it

:44:34. > :44:41.is a great shot. The player has been dragged out. That is a marvellous

:44:42. > :44:50.strike. We're going to get a time-out call as well. 3-1 now to

:44:51. > :44:59.Serbia over Croatia. Time-out called by the Croatians. The coach trying

:45:00. > :45:09.to get someone to cross to his team after a fine start by the Serbians.

:45:10. > :45:16.They are dancing, the crowd. They have won the last four league world

:45:17. > :45:23.titles, Serbia. The most recent in 2014. The two pesticides here but on

:45:24. > :45:32.form it would be an upset if Croatia world to win. -- were to win. The

:45:33. > :45:40.longer they can hang in... They trailed by two now, though. They

:45:41. > :45:46.beat Italy 8-6 in the final in London 2012, the Croatians. Trailing

:45:47. > :45:53.by two here in the first quarter. Make that trailing by one. That is

:45:54. > :46:05.Garcia using the angle well to fire one in past Branislav Mitrovic.

:46:06. > :46:20.He changed allegiances a couple of years ago.

:46:21. > :46:25.The Croatians tried to recruit him straight after London. It took him

:46:26. > :46:30.another 12 months to get his Croatian passport, that now very

:46:31. > :46:41.much a part of their water polo set up. They needed another left-hander

:46:42. > :46:54.and they finally got their man. That has to be another foul at two

:46:55. > :46:59.metres. No doubt. Working his backside off to do it. They have a

:47:00. > :47:05.player sitting in the girls but that is OK. He is not offside. Got to

:47:06. > :47:09.stay outside the two metres unless you have got the ball or it is in

:47:10. > :47:13.front of you. But this time they cannot find their way through, a

:47:14. > :47:19.punch of the air in the Croatian goal. He is punching the air even

:47:20. > :47:23.though it had the post, I don't think he had much to do with that.

:47:24. > :47:30.There you are, celebrating nevertheless.

:47:31. > :47:36.The players come back in after serving a 20 seconds, don't forget,

:47:37. > :47:47.if you commit three files you are out. Another fine long-range strike

:47:48. > :47:54.from Croatia hits the top this time. Jokovic, with the shot. No time to

:47:55. > :47:59.get any respite in this. Once you finish the attack you have to swim

:48:00. > :48:04.like crazy down the other end. Because Serbia are threatening with

:48:05. > :48:08.every attack at the moment. They have punched him also. They are

:48:09. > :48:15.going nuts down here, absolutely crazy, the Croatians. Off the ball,

:48:16. > :48:20.off the camera, not only did he give away an offensive foul, even popped

:48:21. > :48:24.up and delivered a little short jab to the Croatian. Should have been

:48:25. > :48:28.kicked out, that would have left them a player down for the rest of

:48:29. > :48:32.the match. You cannot replace a player who is thrown out for

:48:33. > :48:36.brutality. A little bit of controversy in the final. You can

:48:37. > :48:41.see the reaction from the Croatian coach, telling his players to calm

:48:42. > :48:47.down. They were furious, on the bench. Absolutely they were. I don't

:48:48. > :48:53.know if we will get a replay. Another time-out has been called. It

:48:54. > :48:57.may not, if it happened off camera. But we can seize early offensive

:48:58. > :49:04.foul. He was holding on, and we don't know what was being done under

:49:05. > :49:08.the water, but he came up and reacted with a short punch straight

:49:09. > :49:14.to the face of his opponent. We have got two referees and neither of them

:49:15. > :49:20.saw the incident. He would have been in trouble if they did. It is a big

:49:21. > :49:24.call to leave a team a player down inside the first quarter of an

:49:25. > :49:30.Olympic gold medal game, but if you saw it, you would have too. Look, he

:49:31. > :49:35.is saying, he hit him. And he is saying, I did not see it. The coach

:49:36. > :49:39.needs to make sure he does not get a yellow card for protesting. Referees

:49:40. > :49:52.do not allow much talking back to them in water polo. Serbia are back

:49:53. > :49:55.on the attack. Just trying to drive across the two metre line. An

:49:56. > :50:01.offensive foul and a chance for a quick counterattack. The pass was

:50:02. > :50:13.only a couple of inches from being perfect. End of the first quarter, a

:50:14. > :50:21.thriller. A brilliant tip over in the final seconds. Nikic, with a

:50:22. > :50:32.long-range shot. Croatia 2-3 Serbia. We will be back in the second period

:50:33. > :50:38.of that shortly. We have moved back outside with people saying, what you

:50:39. > :50:46.doing in that warring studio? I want to see the beach behind you. So here

:50:47. > :50:51.are -- boring studio. One viewer saying, water polo is quite brutal,

:50:52. > :50:57.isn't it? Another, is water polo just underwater wrestling? Yes, they

:50:58. > :51:07.are the units. Quite a bit goes on under the water I think. -- they are

:51:08. > :51:11.big units. Look, you can see perhaps the largest rods we have seen in

:51:12. > :51:19.action so far in our Fishermans corner. The binmen, we think, are

:51:20. > :51:23.down the far end of the beach at the moment. If they go past in the next

:51:24. > :51:27.minute or so you will see them live. If they do not come past in the next

:51:28. > :51:33.minute we will need to do it recorded. People are asking about

:51:34. > :51:38.the promised best bits, when are we going to share all that? We will do

:51:39. > :51:42.that at half-time. Oh, they are coming. Sorry, I'm getting

:51:43. > :51:48.distracted. We will do that at half-time in the water polo, so if

:51:49. > :51:55.you want to see the best bits and all the other Gulf, we will do it in

:51:56. > :52:00.15 minutes. On the bin news, Amanda says she has an orange bean in

:52:01. > :52:07.Glasgow. She sent a picture. Thank you for that. And Emma has found you

:52:08. > :52:11.can buy one, very similar to the Rio ones, ?459 so if you are that

:52:12. > :52:21.obsessed, maybe that is a wise investment. -- for ?59. Did you get

:52:22. > :52:26.your cabal, asks Stacey? Yes, we did. A young man came and grilled it

:52:27. > :52:34.for us and it was very nice indeed. -- our kebab. I am very sorry to say

:52:35. > :52:40.that there is absolutely no sign of Antony Worrall Thompson. You will

:52:41. > :52:44.see him if you stay with us for 15 minutes because I am sure he will

:52:45. > :52:50.feature in the best bits, but if he is not here, we might not get any

:52:51. > :52:54.more live AWT, I know you think that means no party, but fear not, it is

:52:55. > :53:00.our final night and we will bring you significant treats. What you

:53:01. > :53:05.pointing at? The binmen? They are coming. Can we stay for them, or do

:53:06. > :53:09.we need to show some sport? I think they are going to take their time. I

:53:10. > :53:14.don't think there is any other channel in the world that would hold

:53:15. > :53:19.the live sport while waiting for our favourite binmen to come and join us

:53:20. > :53:26.on the beach. This is Rafael, Pedro, Alessandra, and Donatello. I think

:53:27. > :53:31.it might take some time. Shall we record it? We will go to the water

:53:32. > :53:36.polo, do not go anywhere, we will show you in man action when you come

:53:37. > :53:40.back, and show you the best bits. How is that for a deal? Here is the

:53:41. > :53:45.second period of the gold medal water polo match, it is important,

:53:46. > :53:50.maybe slightly more potent than our binmen, although the other group are

:53:51. > :53:56.now turning up as well. These are not our boys. These are not our

:53:57. > :54:06.boys. This is like the rival crew. These are our lads. I can't believe

:54:07. > :54:14.we're doing this. Carlos... This is like two worlds colliding.

:54:15. > :54:19.Incredible scenes. It is like a bin off. What on earth is going to

:54:20. > :54:25.happen? They are shaking hands. Maybe they have realised that... I

:54:26. > :54:30.should move out of the way. I feel the need for you to see this action.

:54:31. > :54:37.Maybe they realise how important this is to the people of BBC Four.

:54:38. > :54:45.They know it is the final night. Of Cruise, side-by-side, knowing...

:54:46. > :54:50.Maybe we don't know. -- both crews, side-by-side. Maybe we need to tell

:54:51. > :54:59.them they are so important to our audience. Carlos is going to have a

:55:00. > :55:06.chat with our fabulous binmen crew. Let's do it now. We have got them

:55:07. > :55:13.some gold medals. Come on, come down, it is a bit wobbly, I hope you

:55:14. > :55:18.don't mind, it is BBC Four, it is all good fun. Carlos is explaining.

:55:19. > :55:24.Come down onto the beach. I would love to know... Guys, we have got

:55:25. > :55:33.some gold medals for you, to say thank you. He is coming down. This

:55:34. > :55:49.is going to be a beautiful moment. Guys, come over. Lovely to see you,

:55:50. > :55:59.thank you very much. Your name is Dan? How do you know that?

:56:00. > :56:09.Unbelievable scenes! Can we give a big round of applause to rough ale?

:56:10. > :56:15.Flavio gusto. If you would like to take off your cowboy hat? This is

:56:16. > :56:22.beautiful. Another round of applause, everyone. Lovely to see

:56:23. > :56:39.you. Hold on a moment. The driver. Look at that. You are very famous.

:56:40. > :56:50.Carlos? What is he saying, Carlos? He is saying he is a musician also,

:56:51. > :56:54.and wants to give you a card. Have you got a guitar with you? Will you

:56:55. > :57:16.come back and play the guitar for us later? Yes! THEY SPEAK PORTUGUESE.

:57:17. > :57:25.He is going to come back? Lovely. Live guitar, later on. A picture?

:57:26. > :57:40.For social media? Very nice to see you. Thank you very much guys. We

:57:41. > :57:50.love the copper cabana binmen -- Copacabana.

:57:51. > :57:55.I am not sure what to say after that. If you are at home in the UK,

:57:56. > :58:00.thinking, what on earth have I turned on? This is the magic of BBC

:58:01. > :58:04.Four. If you have been watching, these guys have been superstars

:58:05. > :58:08.throughout our coverage. Every night they come by and have a chat, that

:58:09. > :58:14.was actually a slightly different crew, it is the weekend, things

:58:15. > :58:16.might be slightly different. But they have obviously been talking to

:58:17. > :58:22.each other because they know all about what we have been doing. It is

:58:23. > :58:26.a pleasure to meet them live on BBC Four and give them gold medals. And

:58:27. > :58:31.the driver is going to come back later for a bit of live guitar.

:58:32. > :58:34.There we go. We promised you some good beach action and I think that

:58:35. > :58:41.might be a wonderful moment on our final evening on Copacabana.

:58:42. > :58:46.Apologies if you were waiting for the water polo but we had important

:58:47. > :58:51.business to address. We are now returning to Croatia versus Serbia

:58:52. > :58:52.for the gold medal match. Don't go anywhere, the best bits are coming

:58:53. > :59:05.up in 15 minutes time. Goodbye. Maybe he was going to shoot himself,

:59:06. > :59:09.outside the five. But again, remember, it is both of them at the

:59:10. > :59:15.moment. They are just trying to force the defenders... Or keep them

:59:16. > :59:30.out wide. And that is another weak shot that is taken comfortably by

:59:31. > :59:40.Mitrovic. The -- 11-4 when they met in the World Championships, in the

:59:41. > :59:47.Serbia's favour. He is Filipovic. Brilliantly blocked. He was fouled,

:59:48. > :59:52.he cannot interfere with the free throw but he can block with his

:59:53. > :59:56.hand, and that was very well done. More importantly, it sets up his

:59:57. > :00:03.team for another attack as they try to get back to 3-3.

:00:04. > :00:15.Another long-range shot is tipped over by Mitrovic. Another 30 seconds

:00:16. > :00:18.on the shot clock. They won their opening two matches before losing to

:00:19. > :00:23.Spain, before the knockout stage victories, Croatia. Four goals the

:00:24. > :00:30.winning margins against both Brazil and Montenegrin.

:00:31. > :00:45.Nothing happening in terms of the Centre forward. The Centre forward

:00:46. > :00:50.trying to get himself set. Can't. Being marshalled by the captain

:00:51. > :01:00.Gocic. It is disallowed. The whistle has gone. And exclusion here. That

:01:01. > :01:05.is because the player had already been excluded. That is a little

:01:06. > :01:11.unlucky. We are going to get the yellow card. He has turned to the

:01:12. > :01:16.Croatian bench but just to assure you, the yellow card has gone on to

:01:17. > :01:24.the assistant coach, not the coach. I still think he is going on about

:01:25. > :01:26.that punch in the opening quarter. You have got to let it go. His side

:01:27. > :01:36.is in this up to their eyeballs. He is on. That was a marvellous bit

:01:37. > :01:41.of play, just let them with the final execution. It was very well

:01:42. > :01:51.worked, extra man, but well wide with the shot. The goal that was

:01:52. > :01:58.disallowed has infuriated him. Serbia come forward again. A good

:01:59. > :02:14.save, had to climb high out of the water to get a finger tip on that

:02:15. > :02:18.one. Bijac with the save. 3-2, still. Three minutes played in the

:02:19. > :02:29.second quarter. One of the Serbians cherry picking then the other end.

:02:30. > :02:33.He is way back about five metres. Good save again, Mitrovic has been

:02:34. > :02:40.in good form so far. That is his fourth save out of six. Managing to

:02:41. > :02:52.keep his side's goal intact. It is now Filip Hrgovic who will come

:02:53. > :02:58.forward. -- Filipovic. He has been well marked tonight, he was held

:02:59. > :03:10.back. So an extra man for Serbia. The Croatian Number Ten Krapic, who

:03:11. > :03:14.had the goal disallowed. Still he continues to throw his arms around

:03:15. > :03:18.at the referee, he is not a happy man, is he? Krapic climbs out of the

:03:19. > :03:40.water. Stabbed three this getting it in the

:03:41. > :03:48.neck from the coach at the moment -- Stavridis getting it in the neck.

:03:49. > :03:57.They are back Square. What a backhanded shot from close range by

:03:58. > :04:00.Nikic. They had done all the hard work, got themselves where and when

:04:01. > :04:05.they thought they had the chance of a canter, the ball straight into the

:04:06. > :04:09.Centre forward and what about this for the Centre forward's goal with

:04:10. > :04:27.the backhand, stuffs it into the bottom corner. No chance for Bijac.

:04:28. > :04:30.4-2. Croatian coach has a on both shoulders and at the moment, there

:04:31. > :04:34.is way too much discussion down there. The players will take a lead

:04:35. > :04:38.from that, they will feel hard done by. He needs to settle down,

:04:39. > :04:44.otherwise every call that goes against them, the team will feel

:04:45. > :04:47.that they are being hard done by, being cheated. I don't want to use

:04:48. > :04:54.that word other than in a psychological sense but they need to

:04:55. > :05:04.focus on the fact that they are still in it. Another foul here. It

:05:05. > :05:08.is an exclusion for Serbia. Mandic on the swim back. There will be a

:05:09. > :05:14.time out here and the chance to get the men forward into an attacking

:05:15. > :05:18.position. A little tired, didn't want to swim back too quickly. I'll

:05:19. > :05:25.just have a little grab of my opposite number. They would love to

:05:26. > :05:30.score here with the extra man. The conversation is now going on between

:05:31. > :05:35.the players. They need to settle down. There is a lack of control

:05:36. > :05:43.from Croatia at the moment. There is a game to play, forget refereeing it

:05:44. > :05:47.as well. So many Games against each other in the past, they know each

:05:48. > :05:52.other inside out, these top teams. It is not like any other team sport,

:05:53. > :05:56.where you have 30 or 40 teams trying to qualify for a final, these teams

:05:57. > :06:03.are there every time, so these situations have arisen many times.

:06:04. > :06:14.And many of them are team-mates across the two nations, so they know

:06:15. > :06:20.each other very well. Mandic and Setka be good examples. It is

:06:21. > :06:24.another save from Mitrovic but it wasn't the greatest of shops, in

:06:25. > :06:30.fairness. The goalie is getting the better of these tussles. It has just

:06:31. > :06:31.come off the arm of one of the blocking players, made it a little

:06:32. > :06:46.easier. Filopovic has spent every minute in

:06:47. > :06:52.the pool so far this final. I was just thinking the same, the amount

:06:53. > :07:03.of minutes he has played. Oh, wonderful, Filopovic was involved

:07:04. > :07:10.and it is another goal and the advantage stretches a little further

:07:11. > :07:13.by Gocic. He was just jumping high, there was a little block as he

:07:14. > :07:19.jumped high to come across it and cover the near post. There is an

:07:20. > :07:23.example where the log was on. That stretches it a bit, three goals, two

:07:24. > :07:28.and a bit minutes to go in this first half.

:07:29. > :07:36.Gocic with bronze medals in London and Beijing, so with his third

:07:37. > :07:41.Olympics, he is guaranteed at least a silver. Filopovic has come out of

:07:42. > :07:45.the pool for a short break. Croatia back on the attack, more defensive

:07:46. > :07:55.minded for the Serbians. Another exclusion for a little tug.

:07:56. > :08:11.Randelovic get his second exclusion. Garcia Gadea has scored already but

:08:12. > :08:19.not bad time with the defending. Setka has found a way through. He is

:08:20. > :08:25.having a game, Setka. There is the kick out. Nothing wrong with that

:08:26. > :08:32.decision. Quick pass and off the hand, in it goes. They get Garcia

:08:33. > :08:37.Gadea involved on plenty of occasions. That's left-handed throw

:08:38. > :08:46.is perfect for the handle, into players like macro on this nearside

:08:47. > :08:51.of the pool. -- like Setka. Inside the final two minutes of the first

:08:52. > :08:59.half. Serbia will want to try to keep the pressure on. Here is

:09:00. > :09:06.another shot from outside five. Mandic with his second of the game.

:09:07. > :09:10.Another left-hander shows his work. Filopovic shouts his encouragement.

:09:11. > :09:16.Goal Number Ten of these 2016 Rio Olympic Games. What about the

:09:17. > :09:22.athleticism of not only getting a but getting up and being able to

:09:23. > :09:26.turn his body around with those great legs and core strength to use

:09:27. > :09:33.lot it in around the arms of his defender. Psychologically, it is

:09:34. > :09:44.very important for the Serbians to retain a handy lead. If they go up

:09:45. > :09:50.but -- if they go in those goals up, it is difficult mentally for the

:09:51. > :09:58.Croatians to come back. Another good save by Mitrovic. They have got the

:09:59. > :10:08.look of the bounce, Croatia -- the good luck.

:10:09. > :10:16.Prlainovic at the 22nd, so Croatia with the extra player. And with the

:10:17. > :10:24.extra seconds, so important they can score here. He had his arm up

:10:25. > :10:27.begging for it. On two metres, he was absolutely begging for that

:10:28. > :10:42.ball. They will get another 30 seconds, though. Time-out called by

:10:43. > :10:47.Serbia. The shot blocked by Setka. It was a block, so it will turn over

:10:48. > :11:00.to Serbia. Thing is not going Croatia's way in the first half. He

:11:01. > :11:05.was begging for the ball but they couldn't get it to him. Serbia will

:11:06. > :11:11.come back with it and what a telling blow this could be if with, just 51

:11:12. > :11:15.seconds left in the second period, they get another one. They are out

:11:16. > :11:21.by three, their biggest lead so far in the match. Well it shows how they

:11:22. > :11:28.perhaps underperformed in the group stage, they finished fourth, so they

:11:29. > :11:32.played the top team in the other group. But it has worked in their

:11:33. > :11:37.favour because it was Spain that they played, saw them off in the

:11:38. > :11:46.quarterfinals. They put themselves under pressure, as you say. A loss

:11:47. > :11:49.to Brazil. Trying to milk the Faldo, pushed off with the left hand, so an

:11:50. > :11:57.offensive foul pull-back for the Croats. Oh, no. Can you believe

:11:58. > :12:00.this? They have got a foul centrefield with a little offensive

:12:01. > :12:08.foul from the Croatians, so Serbia will come back with it. They are

:12:09. > :12:17.literally playing into Serbia's hands at the moment, Croatia. It is

:12:18. > :12:30.a coach killer, that one. Clean the one backed by Garcia Gadea --

:12:31. > :12:36.cleanly one -- won back. Filopovic out for 20 seconds. So there are a

:12:37. > :12:42.few seconds to go in this first. Someone has to take a ping. The

:12:43. > :12:46.left-hander might. Yes, he will. Back into play. It would have gone

:12:47. > :12:51.back to Croatia for 30 seconds but the hooter goes for the end of the

:12:52. > :12:53.first of and despite the fact there is a 3-goal cushion, Croatia have

:12:54. > :12:58.had their chances to get more goals in this half. At the halfway point

:12:59. > :13:04.in the gold-medal match, it is three - six.

:13:05. > :13:10.Thank you, gentlemen, so Serbia leading Croatia 6-3 at half-time.

:13:11. > :13:15.That is the gold-medal match, remember. We shall be showing a bit

:13:16. > :13:24.more of that for you later on. Thank you for all of your reaction to the

:13:25. > :13:27.Copaca binmen. While you were watching that, something special

:13:28. > :13:32.happened and we recorded it for you, and here it is.

:13:33. > :13:38.Ladies and gentlemen, look what has happened, the Copaca binmen have

:13:39. > :13:41.returned. There we go. One of our regulars wasn't on the tractor the

:13:42. > :13:47.last time round, so they came back because we had one gold-medal left.

:13:48. > :13:50.Four of them have dazzled us that these Olympic Games, so it gives me

:13:51. > :13:56.great pleasure to watch it with the BBC for gold medal. Thank you very

:13:57. > :14:01.much. Lovely to see you all, boys. This is genuinely a high point of my

:14:02. > :14:08.career. Can we line up for a nice down the Camara for the medals. Come

:14:09. > :14:12.on. In all seriousness, these guys do an unbelievable job and it has

:14:13. > :14:15.been a pleasure to watch it every night. Ladies and gentlemen, the

:14:16. > :14:24.Copaca binmen! They are lovely guys and what we

:14:25. > :14:29.didn't realise is they have been enjoying it as much as we have been

:14:30. > :14:32.enjoying it. We have had so many lovely messages over the last two

:14:33. > :14:36.weeks and I know we have masturbate about with the water polo, but we

:14:37. > :14:40.have been able to show you some fantastic sport -- I know we have

:14:41. > :14:49.messed about a bit with the water polo. Some of the madness and the

:14:50. > :14:58.site and the sounds we have seen on Copacabana Beach, here, courtesy of

:14:59. > :15:05.lovely Tim from the BBC 14, is the Copacabanter best bits. Time now for

:15:06. > :15:11.the headlines on BBC Four. This is nice, there will be no actual

:15:12. > :15:17.violence, it is all gentle and fun. Good evening. Life fishing on BBC

:15:18. > :15:20.Four. Fishermen's corner. Greg is doing his business on the far side

:15:21. > :15:27.of the track. Stop laughing, you lot.

:15:28. > :15:35.Massive bin man news, massive bin man use, what a job. We're not going

:15:36. > :15:39.to zoom in but rest assured, it's not that, apparently they are

:15:40. > :15:45.reading a book, they are reading a book, in a strange pose. Magnificent

:15:46. > :16:00.scenes, maybe that's how you do it in Brazil. A Brazilian hen party.

:16:01. > :16:05.Weather BBC. The BBC! BBC. Guess who has turned up, it's Maria's Mum,

:16:06. > :16:09.everybody. Say hi to the family. See you later. You're getting married!

:16:10. > :16:16.Antony Worrall Thompson, headphones on, ready to go. Where are you going

:16:17. > :16:23.on your holidays? We're talking about our six life, actually?

:16:24. > :16:32.Absolute wipe-out, that was. It is this cabaret? -- Caparo. Look at

:16:33. > :16:42.that, magnificent movement from Antony Worrall Thompson.

:16:43. > :17:03.MUSIC I hope they not dragging that young

:17:04. > :17:08.fellow into the sea. Never work with children and animals. Yes! They've

:17:09. > :17:17.got full beans, but they don't have the friendliness of our regular

:17:18. > :17:24.Copaca binmen. We got away with that. There you go, we've had great

:17:25. > :17:27.fun over the last few weeks. We've got a great crowd tonight, good

:17:28. > :17:32.evening, everybody. I'd like to think they are here to watch us but

:17:33. > :17:35.actually we have BBC One on another monitor and they are watching the

:17:36. > :17:39.final of the football, currently Brazil one and Germany want, into

:17:40. > :17:46.added time. We're happy to give you the service. -- Germany one. We are

:17:47. > :17:49.going to get back to the water polo for you and we may show you, our

:17:50. > :17:55.editor has been nice, he may show you the full Maria interview before

:17:56. > :17:58.we leave you at 2am. We will continue to read out your texts and

:17:59. > :18:02.tweets. We might get back out on the beach, to fishermen's corner.

:18:03. > :18:11.Evening full stop oh, no, no response! Verities. Maybe we won't

:18:12. > :18:17.go over there. -- there it is. We are going to go back to the water

:18:18. > :18:18.polo. This is into the second half, commentary on Serbia against Croatia

:18:19. > :18:28.from Mark Tompkins and John Harker. COMMENTATOR:

:18:29. > :18:32.There's the quarter by quarter summary, three goals in each of

:18:33. > :18:38.those quarters from the Serbs, who are in control of the match with 16

:18:39. > :18:41.minutes to play. Every time the whistle-blowers, the clock stops, so

:18:42. > :18:47.a lot more than 16 minutes between now and the end, but 16 minutes of

:18:48. > :18:52.play. Stefan Mitrovic Chand the swim off for Serbia in the blue cap, so

:18:53. > :18:58.we are playing towards the left end this time. Filipovic is still in the

:18:59. > :19:04.box, so they will start this a man down. If they get possession though,

:19:05. > :19:09.he gets to come straight back in. It is Croatia that have possession, so

:19:10. > :19:13.Filipovic will have to stay where he is in the exclusion zone. Now he's

:19:14. > :19:20.back into the game, straight into a defensive position for his team. The

:19:21. > :19:31.first attack for Croatia. I'd love to have heard what their coach had

:19:32. > :19:39.to say to them at half-time. Jokovic. Good defence from the

:19:40. > :19:44.centre back. They haven't done that too often in this game. The

:19:45. > :19:51.Croatians get themselves a goal, they are back to two now, it's 6-4.

:19:52. > :19:56.Can you explain what the way is in there? It's a remarkable goal.

:19:57. > :20:00.Sometimes they have a great vision to see a little gap past the

:20:01. > :20:03.goalkeeper. We've seen some wonderful shooting here that has

:20:04. > :20:08.literally been right in the corners, just skimming the post, such great

:20:09. > :20:16.accuracy. Were going to get a player kicked out of the centre. And extra

:20:17. > :20:28.man chance for Serbia. Sandro Sukno with his second 22nd exclusion --

:20:29. > :20:32.his second 20 - second exclusion. A knob into centre, they try to work

:20:33. > :20:42.in between the Centre forward, it was almost worked in. Well defended

:20:43. > :20:55.by Croatia. It takes a lot of skill to pass from one to the other.

:20:56. > :21:04.Three seconds on the shot clock, they will get another 30, because it

:21:05. > :21:08.came off the goalkeeper. A great shot like that to the low corner,

:21:09. > :21:13.needs to get carried away, only a couple of seconds to go on the shot

:21:14. > :21:22.clock as you say and now, another 30, so they will be first to score,

:21:23. > :21:26.Vista get them back within one. Just the sort of start they wanted to the

:21:27. > :21:34.third quarter, if they can capitalise on this possession. A

:21:35. > :21:37.defensive foul, the ball turns over back to Serbia. Yes, centre forward,

:21:38. > :21:56.just dunking the centre back. A lot of the shot clock has been

:21:57. > :22:01.tied up by swimming to the other side of the pool. He is Mitrovic.

:22:02. > :22:12.Fouling going on outside the five metres but not to warrant an

:22:13. > :22:17.exclusion. Turned away by Bijac. It was pretty skilful, almost went over

:22:18. > :22:23.his head. So they will get the ball back and another final 30 seconds.

:22:24. > :22:30.Looking for a foul here to shoot himself, I think. Yes. Tremendous

:22:31. > :22:35.power once again from Filipovic. The elevation out of the water and the

:22:36. > :22:40.sheer force he gets behind the ball gave Bijac no chance whatsoever and

:22:41. > :22:49.probably the man of the tournament gets another goal. The assistant

:22:50. > :22:52.coach for Croatia has been sent out, just off-camera. He must leave the

:22:53. > :22:59.arena immediately. We can't keep going on with this. You knew he was

:23:00. > :23:06.trying to do exactly that and it went like a rocket.

:23:07. > :23:12.He was the most valuable player at Shanghai in the World Championships

:23:13. > :23:17.in 2011, and think he is in danger of picking up that award again here

:23:18. > :23:22.if he's not careful, Filip Hrgovic, goal number 16 from open play, two

:23:23. > :23:28.penalties to add to that tally -- Filipovic. The Croatian official

:23:29. > :23:32.still doesn't want to leave the poolside. He's got to go. There's an

:23:33. > :23:38.official we will get back to the action. That's going to be a player

:23:39. > :23:45.out for into flaring with the free throw. An extra chance here for

:23:46. > :23:50.Croatia -- interfering with the free throw. Croatia with a chance to find

:23:51. > :23:57.some space and a good save the game, hit straight at Mitrovic. A good

:23:58. > :24:05.safe by the goalkeeper. The assistant coaches finally out of the

:24:06. > :24:13.arena. He did well there. If somebody is trying to get 80 or 90

:24:14. > :24:26.Ks from five metres. Serbia with possession. Zivko Gocic. That will

:24:27. > :24:33.be Croatia's ball. We are back to the same deficit we had at the end

:24:34. > :24:38.of the first half. Croatia coming forward again on the latest attack.

:24:39. > :24:50.We are almost halfway through the third already. Garcia godet. -- that

:24:51. > :24:58.the second exclusion, there's a time-out called. Three players

:24:59. > :25:03.potentially now on a full-time exclusion from the match, if they're

:25:04. > :25:08.not careful. Three of the Serbians have two major fouls, only one of

:25:09. > :25:12.the Croatians, although the one Croatian who does have is Sukno, who

:25:13. > :25:22.is a very valuable player, as we know. So what can they conjure here

:25:23. > :25:28.with an extra man? One minute the duration of the time-out for Ivica

:25:29. > :25:33.Tucak to get tactics across to his team. I've looked at the way -- they

:25:34. > :25:38.will have looked at the way the Serbians have set up and they have

:25:39. > :25:45.the advantage that they can get the angle from the near side of the

:25:46. > :25:55.pool. We haven't seen much of Yanukovych either. -- Jokovic

:25:56. > :26:01.either. Here he is again, the Spaniard. Playing in the red and

:26:02. > :26:06.white of Croatia. They are working this around. They've got some space

:26:07. > :26:09.here. Serbia just looking to keep them tight, prevent the shop coming

:26:10. > :26:15.in and they are doing well at the moment. It's been spilled. Ten

:26:16. > :26:19.seconds back to a full complement. Just over the top, clipped the top

:26:20. > :26:26.of the bar that time. A long-range shot fails to find a way through

:26:27. > :26:32.from Petkovic. They will try to work to the old keeper's right-hand side,

:26:33. > :26:36.he sliced back into three but terrific defence from Serbia to

:26:37. > :26:39.close it down. It's why Garcia was bringing the ball to the one metre

:26:40. > :26:47.line, but could never get three. Great defence, Serbia. Both sides

:26:48. > :26:52.will be leaving with medals but at the moment the colour remains

:26:53. > :26:57.debatable. There is another foul. That's harsh, that's a really harsh

:26:58. > :27:00.ball. It was a poor pass. He was never going to get to that, the

:27:01. > :27:08.Centre forward. They've paid it, unusual. Have a Garcia is the man

:27:09. > :27:13.who is out for -- Xavier Garcia is the man who is out for 20 seconds,

:27:14. > :27:18.so another chance for Serbia here. The ball was pushed under the water.

:27:19. > :27:22.It will be Croatia's ball. Interestingly enough, Serbia, you

:27:23. > :27:26.see the player swimming back out there, he had been sitting in on the

:27:27. > :27:29.goal-line in an offside position and the argument is he's not taking part

:27:30. > :27:34.in the game, but he's distracting the keeper and causing a whole, view

:27:35. > :27:40.is he swims out and scores, that time he didn't get caught, but

:27:41. > :27:43.fortunately the ball didn't go in either. It's another block and once

:27:44. > :27:52.again Serbia protecting their goalkeeper really well here. Buslje

:27:53. > :27:57.the latest Croatian to be denied by some good defending. T hands went up

:27:58. > :28:02.and forced a double block. That was Serbia back up at the other end,

:28:03. > :28:08.looking to add their to tally in the final. Great defence so far from

:28:09. > :28:14.Serbia. Low scoring final. Filipovic is trying to milk a foul. Doesn't

:28:15. > :28:18.need to, doesn't need to! It's an absolute replay of the last goal he

:28:19. > :28:22.scored, exactly the same position, tried to get the foul but then rose

:28:23. > :28:26.out of the water and fired with power past the goalkeeper. We will

:28:27. > :28:35.see a change in goalkeeper now for Croatia. Your zip average coming in.

:28:36. > :28:45.Nothing the goalkeeper could do with shots coming at that pace -- Pavic

:28:46. > :28:51.coming in. This was too much work, I'll have a ping, what a player.

:28:52. > :28:57.8-4, Serbia lead, two goals in the game now for Filipovic. He is

:28:58. > :29:03.climbing out of the pool on the other side so he can have a slow

:29:04. > :29:10.walk background to his team-mates. Giants of men, these players. Yes,

:29:11. > :29:16.they are big boys. It's not going Croatia's way, looking for a second

:29:17. > :29:19.gold medal at the moment. Savage is serving. Serbia are giving

:29:20. > :29:26.themselves an advantage for the gold medal. Another fiercely struck shot,

:29:27. > :29:32.well saved by Mitrovic, but it has bounced back to the Croatians, so

:29:33. > :29:39.they will get another 30. There will be an exclusion. For Serbia. Another

:29:40. > :29:56.player sits out. May have to make this count. A must

:29:57. > :30:01.score now. They have scored. Sukno gets his second of the game and we

:30:02. > :30:06.are back to a 3-goal game. They had to leave him out of the water, look

:30:07. > :30:11.at that! He had hold of his cap as well. Serbia, you're talking about

:30:12. > :30:17.the size of these men and Sukno puts it in, they left him out for a while

:30:18. > :30:23.because he was on two fouls but they have ten players at 192 centimetres

:30:24. > :30:25.or above, a couple at 202 centimetres, so guys who are six

:30:26. > :30:39.foot eight or six hard to stop. Fantastic athleticism shown by these

:30:40. > :30:45.players. We have a time-out, by the way, for Serbia, who, having

:30:46. > :30:54.conceded that goal, looking consolidate their situation. Pavic.

:30:55. > :30:58.The man who, at 34, carried the flag for Croatia, this his third

:30:59. > :31:02.Olympics. It was a 3-goal deficit at half-time and it is still a 3-goal

:31:03. > :31:08.deficit. They need to pull another one back and obviously prevent

:31:09. > :31:15.Serbia from scoring here. Serbia with Filipovic in such dangerous

:31:16. > :31:20.form. He he is again on the ball. Surely he is not going to score from

:31:21. > :31:30.12 metres, but anything is possible. Turnover foul at centre forward.

:31:31. > :31:34.Nikic gave the ball away. Good call. So a chance here inside the last

:31:35. > :31:42.minute. Can they paid this back to two? Croatia have shown in Flash is

:31:43. > :31:44.why they are the current Olympic champions but at the moment, they

:31:45. > :31:51.are being outmuscled by the Serbians. That is the word for it,

:31:52. > :31:56.outmuscled. That is a poor pass to the centre forward. An easy

:31:57. > :32:01.intercept the keeper. Even if he was being fouled, you are not going to

:32:02. > :32:11.play. You need to play closer to his hand and draw the exclusion. Just 18

:32:12. > :32:18.seconds left on the clock at the end of the third quarter. He is outside

:32:19. > :32:23.the five. Backhand, thank you. Brilliantly done once again and

:32:24. > :32:28.Batman Mandic has his third of the game. Because it was outside the

:32:29. > :32:35.five, he could shoot so without passing and has done so with

:32:36. > :32:39.devastating consequences -- Batman. It takes confidence and skill to

:32:40. > :32:43.throw that kind of back and in an Olympic gold final. He has seen the

:32:44. > :32:48.defensive player with his hand up and he has sprung a surprise from

:32:49. > :32:51.about six metres and, as you say, fouled outside the five, you can

:32:52. > :32:58.shoot from inside the five without passing. Croatia with the final shot

:32:59. > :33:02.of a half, it clatters against the bar and back into play. The hooter

:33:03. > :33:06.goes to bring us to the three quarters mark of the finals. Some

:33:07. > :33:10.brilliant individual performances from the likes of Mandic and

:33:11. > :33:13.Filipovic but at the three quarters point at the gold-medal match, it is

:33:14. > :33:23.9-5 to Serbia. It is good stuff, isn't it? I hope

:33:24. > :33:27.you are enjoying get on BBC Four, we will be back for the fourth quarter

:33:28. > :33:31.but it is our final day here back on the beach, I think it is a

:33:32. > :33:38.roundabout time we brought you the headlines from these real Olympics.

:33:39. > :33:45.Nicola Adams has won gold once again. The first boxer in nearly 100

:33:46. > :33:52.years to retain her title, the same as she did in London four years ago,

:33:53. > :33:56.Olympic gold for Nicola Adams. Liam Heath has won his second medal

:33:57. > :34:04.of the Games and this time it was gold in the men's 200m kayak sprint.

:34:05. > :34:09.There was also a bronze today for Vicky Holland. She claimed that

:34:10. > :34:15.medal in the triathlon, the USA's Gwen Jorgensen so dominant, taking

:34:16. > :34:21.the top medal for the USA. Really sad news the Tom Daley,

:34:22. > :34:28.Hassan Chen of Tyner back of the red China took gold -- Chen Aisen of

:34:29. > :34:35.China took gold but Tom Daley didn't even qualify for the final. And

:34:36. > :34:40.Inbee Park of South Korea is golf's Olympic champion, 16 under par, way

:34:41. > :34:47.clear of the rest. Charley Hull of Team GB was joint seventh.

:34:48. > :34:54.Those are your headlines. We shall read a few more of your messages

:34:55. > :34:59.later on, thank you for all of those. We will definitely miss the

:35:00. > :35:03.beach. I know a lot of you are saying we will -- you will miss this

:35:04. > :35:06.programme and we will miss it as well. Your messages and text

:35:07. > :35:11.messages and comments have been a very special part of that. But we

:35:12. > :35:14.need to get back to the water polo, Croatia are playing Serbia. Final

:35:15. > :35:19.quarter. The winner gets a gold medal. The losers go away with

:35:20. > :35:23.silver, so it is not too bad but gold is what it is all about. Let's

:35:24. > :35:30.return. Our commentators are Mark Tompkins and John Harkin.

:35:31. > :35:40.Serbia attacking the goal to left-hand side in the final quarter.

:35:41. > :35:50.Sedco gets there first. Loses his cap and claims he was being fouled

:35:51. > :35:56.-- Sukno. It is hard to play and referee the game at the same time!

:35:57. > :36:09.Turnover fell by long car, Saudi attack that could have got them a

:36:10. > :36:09.goal has said Serbia going forward. --

:36:10. > :36:10.goal has said Serbia going forward. -- by Loncar.

:36:11. > :36:24.Simple goal in the centre. The turnover did cost them. It turned

:36:25. > :36:27.into a classic counterattack goal. One on one here, he wasn't marked

:36:28. > :36:37.properly. They have dropped their heads, Croatia. Let's hope they can

:36:38. > :36:41.keep their discipline for the game. They don't want players excluded, it

:36:42. > :36:48.will mean Serbia can have a chance to pull away even further and make

:36:49. > :36:52.it even more emphatic. The game isn't there at the moment for the

:36:53. > :36:57.Croatians. They need a couple of unanswered goals. Since London 2012,

:36:58. > :37:03.it has always been about Serbia really at the major tournaments. But

:37:04. > :37:12.they have bounced one in to give themselves a little bit of hope,

:37:13. > :37:16.Sukno, who has been their main danger. It has bounced under the

:37:17. > :37:24.centre back's hand and the keeper has seen it very late. So three from

:37:25. > :37:29.34 Sukno but he has not played the amount of minutes you would like, he

:37:30. > :37:37.has a long time on the bench as a result of those too early major

:37:38. > :37:40.fouls. He has had to use him sparely, even kook ak, and it has

:37:41. > :37:51.probably cost Croatia a little bitch. -- a little bit. Still the

:37:52. > :37:57.four goal lead they started the final period with. One thing you

:37:58. > :38:05.cannot do their is stop and shoot from five metres. You have to shoot

:38:06. > :38:12.in one action. That will give him some confidence coming into the game

:38:13. > :38:20.late. Croatia back on the attack, trying to reduce the deficit back to

:38:21. > :38:25.three. Centre forward's set there. Didn't get the ball any quicker. It

:38:26. > :38:29.was a good, smart foul from the Serbians, ordinary garden variety

:38:30. > :38:35.fell but it enabled them to come back and double marked the centre.

:38:36. > :38:37.-- foul. The crossbar is still nervous. The ball hits the outside

:38:38. > :38:48.of the post. So Serbia back on the offensive,

:38:49. > :38:50.they looked dangerous every time they go forward. He has been caught

:38:51. > :39:07.pushing off. Whistle went. So Croatia need to try and get a

:39:08. > :39:11.couple of goals without reply if they can. Again, there is a

:39:12. > :39:21.turnover, claiming a foul against Krapic but nothing has been given.

:39:22. > :39:25.Again, Ivica Tucak looks at the referee. Can't believe it was given

:39:26. > :39:31.-- wasn't given as a foul and Serbia mount another attack. It was a good

:39:32. > :39:36.bit of work to turn him but anyway, back with the Serbs. There is an

:39:37. > :39:41.offensive foul inside, the Centre forward has gone over the top of the

:39:42. > :39:47.centre back trying to get himself position. Turnover, five minutes

:39:48. > :39:55.left. It is a long way back from here, a four goal margin. They have

:39:56. > :39:58.got to school. -- score. They can't find any space, the Croatians.

:39:59. > :40:05.Serbia defending so well and keeping the zones nice and tight. They are

:40:06. > :40:10.inviting the shot, making it impossible to get into the centre

:40:11. > :40:15.forward. It is a poor pass. They get lucky. They will call a time-out,

:40:16. > :40:18.the Croatians but it was a very poor pass. I don't think he would have

:40:19. > :40:30.got it even if he hadn't have been fouled. Pijetlovic will sit out 20

:40:31. > :40:40.seconds when the play resumes. Croatia calling the time-out here.

:40:41. > :40:46.Ivica Tucak. They have probably got five, maybe six, but probably five

:40:47. > :40:52.possessions and they are four goals down. They can't let Serbia score

:40:53. > :40:58.again, we know that, but they have to start scoring themselves, right

:40:59. > :41:02.now. It would go to a penalty shoot out if they could get level, no

:41:03. > :41:06.overtime or extra time in water polo anymore. We have seen some dramatic

:41:07. > :41:11.shoot outs in the earlier stages of the competition. You are on your own

:41:12. > :41:14.if there is a penalty shoot out four Olympic gold, I don't think I could

:41:15. > :41:22.stand distressed. I don't think the players could. -- stand the stress.

:41:23. > :41:28.It is a need for positivity now in front of goal from Croatia. They

:41:29. > :41:34.have wasted the opportunity with the extra player once again and Serbia,

:41:35. > :41:37.you can't fault their defence. Been absolutely superb at blocking those

:41:38. > :41:43.shots before they even reach Mitrovic and he is a great last line

:41:44. > :41:48.of defence to have as well. It looked like the channel might have

:41:49. > :41:53.been there. Filipovic is in no real rush, he is smart, he knows they

:41:54. > :42:00.want to waste every second of every possession they get. Hopefully he

:42:01. > :42:04.will score or forced a save. Deflected over. I think it may have

:42:05. > :42:11.come off the head of his Centre forward. Yes, it did. Good shape, it

:42:12. > :42:18.did indeed. He would have felt that, Nikic. He will be concussed! Here

:42:19. > :42:25.come Croatia again, under four minutes to go in the match. They are

:42:26. > :42:29.down probably to four possessions. Is just up and over the top and

:42:30. > :42:35.Croatia having no luck when they needed. Sukno looking for his fourth

:42:36. > :42:41.goal of the game. It wasn't a bad thing, it had to keeper beaten but

:42:42. > :42:48.bounced too high. Again, Filipovic in no rush again. 16th actually just

:42:49. > :42:54.telling his team-mates, calm it down. It is about winning a gold

:42:55. > :42:59.medal, not putting on a performance. They are putting on a performance

:43:00. > :43:02.all the same, Mandic gets his fourth goal of the game and they start to

:43:03. > :43:08.believe now that the gold medal is within their grasp. Again, took it

:43:09. > :43:16.very late in terms of the shot clock. Put them to sleep. That is a

:43:17. > :43:26.great strike, just bounces under the arm. Six of the Serbian goals have

:43:27. > :43:29.come from the left-handers tonight, Mandic and Filipovic. You mentioned

:43:30. > :43:34.the score in a World Championships last year, it is getting to that

:43:35. > :43:39.type of number, five goal margin with two and a half Men it's the

:43:40. > :43:44.play. It was a seven goal margin so you are right, we are looking at a

:43:45. > :43:50.similar margin here, you would feel. Croatia must wonder what they have

:43:51. > :43:51.to do to be the Serbians, becoming a bit of a nemesis, the former

:43:52. > :44:02.Yugoslav partners. Could save Mitrovic again and every

:44:03. > :44:08.save, every block will be greeted with cheers and claps and shouts at

:44:09. > :44:17.the bench. Serbia coming forward again. The keeper is going crazy

:44:18. > :44:21.off-camera at the moment. Mandic is out as well and screaming to his

:44:22. > :44:28.team-mates on the bench. They know they have copies, two and a half

:44:29. > :44:33.minutes to play. The coach, the man who started training at just five

:44:34. > :44:39.years of age, made his league debut when he was just 13 and he looks

:44:40. > :44:44.like having taken charge in 2012, he has guided Serbia to a gold medal.

:44:45. > :44:54.But when he was 13, he was about six foot two. He was a monster. He kept

:44:55. > :44:59.on growing, a big, big man. 400 goals, 440 odd Games. Just had a

:45:00. > :45:06.quiet word with Mandic, as if to say you have done your job, those four

:45:07. > :45:10.goals put us in nice shape. There is one back from Garcia but muted in

:45:11. > :45:17.terms of celebration. They have pulled the deficit back to four, in

:45:18. > :45:21.11-4 in Serbia's favour. This is a bit of a victory lap now for Serbia.

:45:22. > :45:26.Sitting at home, a global audience, wherever you are, you are always

:45:27. > :45:30.hoping for a thriller but it is always pretty good, when you see the

:45:31. > :45:36.team under all the pressure and expected to win come out and perform

:45:37. > :45:40.on the big stage, it is great stuff. The difference with water polo is

:45:41. > :45:45.every time Serbia get the ball, they can run 30 seconds off the clock.

:45:46. > :45:52.You can't play a full press against them, with two minutes to go, if it

:45:53. > :45:56.wasn't two goal difference that Croatians would be pressing them.

:45:57. > :46:10.They know the game is gone. We are going through the motions right now.

:46:11. > :46:14.Have a bit of a ping. Pavic, it has run another 30 seconds off the

:46:15. > :46:19.clock, so just over a minute and a half to go in the gold medal match.

:46:20. > :46:23.There have been some marvellous moments and I'm glad they won buy a

:46:24. > :46:28.lot and the controversial moment in the first period hasn't counted. If

:46:29. > :46:33.they had been down to six men in the entire game it could have. They will

:46:34. > :46:37.have something to say about that because it could have been a massive

:46:38. > :46:40.turning point in the first quarter of the final. He's still moaning

:46:41. > :46:45.about the turnover decision. Had it been seen he would have been kicked

:46:46. > :46:47.out, but you can't ask the referee is to make a decision on something

:46:48. > :46:59.they don't see. So the celebrations will start very

:47:00. > :47:03.soon on the Serbian bench. Dejan Savic might find himself in the

:47:04. > :47:07.water as well, he might do well to dispense a very valuable since his

:47:08. > :47:15.pocket. Get rid of the mobile phone, get it out. Croatia, who won the

:47:16. > :47:19.gold in London, not for the first time since I going to come up short

:47:20. > :47:24.against the Serbs. There will be a late exclusion for Stefan Mitrovic.

:47:25. > :47:33.Just 30 odd seconds left to go on the game though. Is there one more

:47:34. > :47:38.goal in this for Croatia, just add a bit of respectability to the

:47:39. > :47:43.scoreline? It's Garcia. Again, it's saved by Branislav Mitrovic. And now

:47:44. > :47:47.they can celebrate. There's 18 seconds to go, they are hugging on

:47:48. > :47:53.the bench already. Serbia are going to win the gold medal at the Rio

:47:54. > :48:01.2016 Olympic Games. Just the final few seconds. A brilliant tournament,

:48:02. > :48:05.and they have come up with a big performance when it mattered, as the

:48:06. > :48:11.hooter goes, and they are all in the water. Dejan Savic is in the water,

:48:12. > :48:20.no, it's one of the coaches, Dejan Savic might find him in a minute.

:48:21. > :48:25.What a performance by Serbia. Mitrovic the goalkeeper played his

:48:26. > :48:26.part. It Serbia, the gold medal winners, the full-time score,

:48:27. > :48:36.Croatia seven, Serbia 11. STUDIO:

:48:37. > :48:40.Absolutely brilliant stuff, just a reminder, that is what it's all

:48:41. > :48:44.about, quite a few people asking about watching water polo for the

:48:45. > :48:48.first time, about the things they put over their ears, it's to protect

:48:49. > :48:52.their areas because it is a violent sport. Croatia were aiming for

:48:53. > :48:57.back-to-back gold medals, they were the favourites. The Serbians were

:48:58. > :49:01.desperate for Olympic gold. They've done it. I hope you enjoyed that.

:49:02. > :49:05.That's the first time you've ever watched water polo, it's a fantastic

:49:06. > :49:10.sport to watch and they have produced a gold medal winning

:49:11. > :49:16.performance and its Serbia who take the title here in Rio. Croatians,

:49:17. > :49:22.who know what it's like to be Olympic cup champions, will have to

:49:23. > :49:29.make do with the silver medal. It's safe to say that's probably the last

:49:30. > :49:35.speedos we will see on BBC Four. He was very happy as well, wasn't he?

:49:36. > :49:39.Right, listen, we are here, sorry, I sound a bit rude there, listen! We

:49:40. > :49:43.are here and told to weigh in the morning. One of the things we have

:49:44. > :49:52.coming up a bit later on is two bronze medal matches for tae kwon do

:49:53. > :50:02.British athletes, Bianca Walkden and Mahama Cho. At 1:30am Mo Farah will

:50:03. > :50:06.be running his 5000 metres to try to add to the 10,000 metres he has

:50:07. > :50:10.already won won, that will be on BBC One. Lots of people asking about the

:50:11. > :50:15.best bits thing. The editor says he will promise to run it at the end,

:50:16. > :50:22.is that a promise? You might do. RU going to do it, or not? He will do

:50:23. > :50:30.it, he will do it again. Oh, OK, or we might run Maria. We will run one

:50:31. > :50:33.of them, either Maria or the best bits, and BBC sport will try to put

:50:34. > :50:37.them out as well because bizarrely quite a few of you would like to

:50:38. > :50:41.watch it, which is very nice of you. We are going to take you, we watched

:50:42. > :50:44.water polo, but volleyball has been something else which you have really

:50:45. > :50:49.enjoyed over the last few days. This is the women's volleyball gold medal

:50:50. > :50:53.match taking place later, China against Serbia again, we will show

:50:54. > :50:59.you the bronze medal match which took place earlier, this is the USA,

:51:00. > :51:03.they lost in their semifinal, taking on the Netherlands. It was a very

:51:04. > :51:08.tight first set. We are going to join it at the start of the second

:51:09. > :51:12.set. Best of five, remember, Clayton Lucas and Britt Park of all other

:51:13. > :51:24.commentators. Time for some volleyball on BBC Four.

:51:25. > :51:34.The ball is too tight to the net, and unforced error. Another

:51:35. > :51:38.reception is quite shallow on this, I don't know if they're trying to

:51:39. > :51:46.take balls over hand and serve reception, or if they are just...

:51:47. > :51:50.Challenging that, but... They are totally set up for an overhand serve

:51:51. > :51:53.receive, yet they didn't try to move backwards and pass the ball and they

:51:54. > :52:00.are completely out of position. If that's what they want to do, then as

:52:01. > :52:04.you have pointed out they need to be a lot deeper, if they are going to

:52:05. > :52:07.underhand pass, it is they are in the right place for a volley get the

:52:08. > :52:13.are trying to underhand pass the ball. It doesn't make sense right

:52:14. > :52:22.now. We Getty has told them to volley it. That's good from

:52:23. > :52:26.Petersen, not good control. Is a good swing for a bump set, it makes

:52:27. > :52:31.for a different ball when the set has to set a ball underhand opposed

:52:32. > :52:42.up overhand. A great swing to get them out of that.

:52:43. > :52:49.I was almost Vero tempo from Rachel Adams, as the bench goes through

:52:50. > :52:55.their point winning dance routine. -- Vero tempo. Rachel Adams just

:52:56. > :53:01.scorches balls, she's incredibly athletic as I mentioned time and

:53:02. > :53:06.time again. It's slow fun to see an energy like that, she brings great

:53:07. > :53:13.energy and she's been out there, ride or die delivering night in and

:53:14. > :53:19.night out. Plays her volleyball in Italy.

:53:20. > :53:28.One of the top leagues in professional volleyball. Along with

:53:29. > :53:37.Turkey and also Russia. Quite a few of the Netherlands players play

:53:38. > :54:00.their volleyball in Turkey. That one not quite making it over.

:54:01. > :54:06.Kimberly Hill puts that one down. She knows quite a few of the Dutch

:54:07. > :54:17.players all too well, being team-mates with some of them in

:54:18. > :54:25.Istanbul. They know what threat she is.

:54:26. > :54:30.This is a very good start from the USA, they are putting pressure on

:54:31. > :54:37.the Netherlands service, who are not able to get in attacks, relying on

:54:38. > :54:38.big hits through the outside. That continues to put pressure on, that

:54:39. > :55:04.one has gone through the arms. Another error from the US, they were

:55:05. > :55:07.looking pretty good in this second set. It's Netherlands to bounce

:55:08. > :55:09.back, it seems there's quite a lot of fragility on both sides of the

:55:10. > :55:32.net. Well, that was brilliant, absolutely

:55:33. > :55:42.brilliant. If the Americans have a chance to feed the middle, it would

:55:43. > :55:48.be good to do it, and do it often. That was some hit but also what a

:55:49. > :55:57.set from Glass as well, pivoting on a sixpence. A great ball in to make

:55:58. > :55:58.it all happen. Passing is key. That one is dropped like a stone, right

:55:59. > :56:06.on to the baseline. It looked to be going way out. It's

:56:07. > :56:19.landed way in. Good ally buy the line judge. -- a

:56:20. > :56:58.good I buy the line judge. Again, it's relying on malevolence

:56:59. > :57:04.going wide. They've had no middle attack so far in the second set. --

:57:05. > :57:07.it's relying on the Netherlands going wide. Very few in the first

:57:08. > :57:29.either. Dijkema aces the USA. Like a

:57:30. > :57:34.harmless float serve, Hills let it go. Interesting body language by

:57:35. > :57:38.Murphy, she knew it was in and ran out of the way. That's her

:57:39. > :57:44.responsibility to call that ball in or out, either you talk somebody
