:00:00. > :00:00.he has started the game well. Zeca knew exactly what he was doing
:00:07. > :00:10.because he was beaten for pace. An easy decision for the referee to
:00:11. > :00:15.give the yellow card. It is one thing to say to a senior side, be
:00:16. > :00:22.cool and manage the game and do the right things, but these are players
:00:23. > :00:26.of 19, 20, 21 years old. It is not quite as easy to be as cool under
:00:27. > :00:33.pressure. Can they defend this free kick? They almost don't. It clips
:00:34. > :00:38.the frame of the goal for a second time, I think it was Suele who got a
:00:39. > :00:41.touch, deflected on the way through. I think it came off Marquinhos in
:00:42. > :00:51.the end, he diverted over his crossbar. Excellent movement from
:00:52. > :01:01.Selke, but they get away with it, Brazil. And another terrific save!
:01:02. > :01:12.Ginter, tries to get the rebound in, and again Weverton comes to the
:01:13. > :01:19.rescue! A couple of a fight. So. -- a couple of vital stops. The
:01:20. > :01:21.awareness and division and the technique. Excellent striking, good
:01:22. > :01:34.from Weverton. You can hear the screaming audibly
:01:35. > :01:40.around the Maracana as it looked like Germany would going to draw
:01:41. > :01:48.level. It is a fabulous occasion, it really years. He did well, Weverton,
:01:49. > :01:54.to get some power and palm it away. He didn't leave an easy tap in for
:01:55. > :02:03.the Germans. They couldn't adjust their feet and get the strike on
:02:04. > :02:07.target. It looked as though Ginter might be despatching the rebound but
:02:08. > :02:20.he didn't get the connection on the ball.
:02:21. > :02:26.That is a foul and a free kick to Germany. It is a good five minutes
:02:27. > :02:32.since they conceded the goal. They've got to be careful, Brazil.
:02:33. > :02:37.Going in front is great but they are retreating too deep, allowing too
:02:38. > :02:41.much pressure. And we've spoken about the quality within this German
:02:42. > :02:47.side, they could hurt Brazil if they continued to drop deep like this. It
:02:48. > :02:51.is an easy thing to say but the Brazilian players can't afford to
:02:52. > :02:53.get wrapped up in the atmosphere, in the occasion. They've got to keep
:02:54. > :03:17.focused. There are five players in advanced
:03:18. > :03:24.positions but the pass was not good enough. Toljan intervenes for
:03:25. > :03:29.Germany. He chose the wrong option. There was Neymar in the middle,
:03:30. > :03:36.there was a great chance for Luan to pick him out. It is so frenetic, all
:03:37. > :03:43.a little bit lasted. The intensity is so apparent.
:03:44. > :03:51.That is a foul right on the edge of the area, Gabriel Jesus diving in. I
:03:52. > :03:58.can see the referee giving another card out here. He's high, Gabriel
:03:59. > :04:04.Jesus. He's late, he's from behind, poor challenge from him. This is a
:04:05. > :04:09.chance for Germany. They are excellent from set plays. I think
:04:10. > :04:13.Meyer will be on them and with the power and strength in the air they
:04:14. > :04:22.have, the Germans, it is a real opportunity for them.
:04:23. > :04:29.If Germany were to equalise, it would be difficult to say they
:04:30. > :04:34.haven't deserved it. Hrubesch would be delighted with the response from
:04:35. > :04:49.his players. It hits the frame of the girl again!
:04:50. > :04:58.Well, Sven Bender stooped, flicked it goal bound, couldn't score. It is
:04:59. > :05:05.a well played free kick. It is the movement from Sven Bender, getting
:05:06. > :05:14.across Augusto, trying to get the header downwards, he can't. So
:05:15. > :05:18.unlucky to hit the crossbar. Brazil might be in front, but Germany have
:05:19. > :05:24.had better efforts and have hit the frame of the goal on three
:05:25. > :05:31.opportunities. It has been a superb opening 35 minutes. Germany have had
:05:32. > :05:32.their chances but Brazil are a real threat when they get into this sort
:05:33. > :06:00.of area. A real excellent injection of pace
:06:01. > :06:08.by the role Wideman, Gabriel Barbosa and Gabriel Jesus. It is the little
:06:09. > :06:14.one tos they play, it is difficult for the German defenders to track
:06:15. > :06:20.their runs. As you saw, there are pockets of German supporters, but,
:06:21. > :06:50.as you can understand, they are enormously outnumbered.
:06:51. > :06:56.Not really had a sustained spell of possession since they took the lead,
:06:57. > :07:03.have they, Brazil? They are settling the game down here. It is a more
:07:04. > :07:07.experienced Renato Augusto, he is settling the players down. A little
:07:08. > :07:13.bit of possession won't do them any harm. Renato Augusto spent four
:07:14. > :07:22.years in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen. 28 years old now.
:07:23. > :07:28.Current Brazilian international. So much depends on the likes of him and
:07:29. > :07:33.obviously Neymar, but particularly Renato Augusto now they are in front
:07:34. > :07:39.to try to keep the emotions of the younger players from getting carried
:07:40. > :07:45.away. Another Mexican wave breaks out. Still not afraid of sending
:07:46. > :07:51.bodies forward, the Brazilians. Santos getting forward beyond Luan
:07:52. > :07:55.and Luan should have picked him up because it was a real chance to pick
:07:56. > :08:27.the left-back and get into a good position.
:08:28. > :08:33.This is what they needed to do in the minute straight after they took
:08:34. > :08:39.the lead, Brazil, but Germany didn't let them. It is an excellent spell
:08:40. > :08:52.of possession for Brazil. Free kick to Germany. Neymar on Sule. What a
:08:53. > :08:58.goal, super goal. Did it get a slight touch coming over? It was the
:08:59. > :09:00.pace and power on the strike that beat him. It is precision, such a
:09:01. > :09:23.fabulous goal. Could have done better from that
:09:24. > :09:28.position, Germany. Yes, that is Brazil again, becoming exposed,
:09:29. > :09:33.sending bodies forward which gives a chance for Meyer to pick out Gnabry.
:09:34. > :09:42.His chosen the wrong option in picking out Selke. Two bronze medals
:09:43. > :09:45.is all Germany have managed throughout their many years of
:09:46. > :09:50.attempting to win the Olympic football tournament. They had a
:09:51. > :09:57.dreadful spell at not being able to even qualify for the Olympic
:09:58. > :10:04.tournament. Prior to this, the last participation was in Seoul in 1988.
:10:05. > :10:12.Luan tries to tiptoe his way through and he wins a corner. That's the
:10:13. > :10:18.movement I spoke about, with Neymar and Luan, they interchange positions
:10:19. > :10:25.very well. Luan recognised there was space centrally. Just couldn't quite
:10:26. > :10:37.get the strike away, and it was good defending from Ginter in the end.
:10:38. > :10:54.Playing his part in geeing up the Maracana.
:10:55. > :11:04.They love that! No end product, but he is a showman, and he is on one of
:11:05. > :11:09.the biggest stages of all. Probably a little early for his tricks. We
:11:10. > :11:12.need the second goal before, then I'm sure they will see the party
:11:13. > :11:43.pieces coming out. One or two teams might have started
:11:44. > :11:49.to capitulate with the momentum that was building up and the atmosphere
:11:50. > :11:54.in the stadium against them. This German side are magnificent. Their
:11:55. > :12:00.character and question. That deflected shot made it easy for
:12:01. > :12:09.Weverton together. He is a threat, Meyer, centrally. It was a good
:12:10. > :12:13.block from Koster. He didn't deal with it in the most comfortable of
:12:14. > :12:20.manner but he managed to keep it from going over the line. Took it
:12:21. > :12:24.very close to the line. He recognised it was backing off. He
:12:25. > :12:29.knew he was going to be travelling back towards his own goal line so he
:12:30. > :12:38.had the presence to palm the ball in front of the line. A couple of
:12:39. > :12:46.glimpses of the Brazilian coach. He has been coaching for many years in
:12:47. > :12:54.Brazil, almost always youth teams, under 20, U21. And the under 23s.
:12:55. > :12:59.Not one of the more high-profile coaches but he will have the freedom
:13:00. > :13:08.of Brazil if he can guide his side to their first ever Olympic gold
:13:09. > :13:13.medal. Extremely impressed with this man, Renato Augusto. He has settled
:13:14. > :13:18.them down when it looked like they would getting back on top, Germany,
:13:19. > :13:27.after conceding. He has settled Brazil down and slowed the game down
:13:28. > :13:32.a little. It's worth reminding, 12 goals in five games prior to this
:13:33. > :13:41.game, yet to concede in 43.5 minutes as well. They could keep another
:13:42. > :13:44.clean sheet. And get the gold medal. That would be some achievement if
:13:45. > :13:52.you can win the tournament without conceding. Particularly with the
:13:53. > :13:58.sides they've played against. Yellow card for Gabriel Barbosa. Just for
:13:59. > :14:05.the way in which he held Sven Bender back. Has the nickname Gabby goal.
:14:06. > :14:22.He so far has two in the tournament. The goal was on the 27th minute and
:14:23. > :14:29.since then Germany have been arguably the better side. I think we
:14:30. > :14:37.feel they could and should have equalised. Timo Horn hasn't had too
:14:38. > :14:44.much to do, in reality. The only other chance was Luan with the
:14:45. > :14:48.crossing, and Douglas Santos getting forward. Germany have had some good
:14:49. > :14:55.chances themselves. They've hit the woodwork twice.
:14:56. > :15:10.It is a late one but the referee has let it go or he didn't see it.
:15:11. > :15:35.Klostermann. Bender. Meyer Full. Ginter. Toljan. Young players,
:15:36. > :15:41.ostensibly, this German side, but the way in which they have quelled
:15:42. > :15:51.the sphere has been so admirable. There is Neymar. Terrific ball. No
:15:52. > :15:57.offside. Gabriel Barbosa, was he caught by Klostermann? Yes, says the
:15:58. > :16:01.referee. He did all the hard work, Klostermann. Gabriel Barbosa had the
:16:02. > :16:08.run of him, brilliant awareness from Neymar to pick him out, superb pace
:16:09. > :16:15.from Klostermann to get back, he did not need to commit to the challenge,
:16:16. > :16:18.it is a chance here for Brazil. Only one minute of added time and we are
:16:19. > :16:24.now entering the second minute of it, so it will literally be this
:16:25. > :16:31.free kick dispatched into the area and then the consequences of it,
:16:32. > :16:43.then the referee will blow. You imagine if Brazil can get second
:16:44. > :16:47.here... Headed our way. The referee blows his whistle. A magnificent
:16:48. > :16:53.first half. Exactly what the script writers wanted. Brazil in front, and
:16:54. > :16:58.Neymar the goal-scorer, from a free kick. So much to admire from both
:16:59. > :17:03.teams. Germany have hit the frame of the goal on a couple of occasions,
:17:04. > :17:08.this is far from over, Brazil 1-0 Germany.
:17:09. > :17:19.We shall we join them for the second half of on BBC Two. Here on BBC
:17:20. > :17:30.4-wheel something else in store. Later tonight, live on BBC Four, 1am
:17:31. > :17:34.the bronze medal matches in the tae kwon do. Bianca Walton lost her
:17:35. > :17:41.semifinal but can still win a bronze medal, and also, Mohammed Cho, in
:17:42. > :17:51.the same situation going for a bronze medal in the tae kwon do.
:17:52. > :17:59.Meantime, we have a little treat for you. Can we have a huge round of
:18:00. > :18:10.applause for gold hockey stars? Last night they did something incredible
:18:11. > :18:15.and won a gold medal for Team GB. Have you stopped in the last 24
:18:16. > :18:23.hours? It has been a whirlwind. Not had much sleep whatsoever. What time
:18:24. > :18:30.did you try to get to sleep? About four a.m.. It is a moment which may
:18:31. > :18:36.never happen again in your life, so you have got to enjoy it, haven't
:18:37. > :18:39.you? It does not come around often and we are the first great British
:18:40. > :18:44.women's hockey team to reach the final and win the gold medal so it
:18:45. > :18:47.is something special which we will all treasure and have memories for
:18:48. > :18:52.life so, yeah, we just went a bit crazy last night and enjoyed every
:18:53. > :18:56.moment. We have loads of questions from our viewers and will get to
:18:57. > :19:01.them in a moment. But Sophie, the way that you want it, to be down on
:19:02. > :19:06.a number of occasions and comeback against the top ranked team in the
:19:07. > :19:10.world and take it to penalties, then the drama, 10 million people were
:19:11. > :19:16.watching you on BBC One. It was incredible to find that out. We went
:19:17. > :19:20.behind a couple of times but kept on bringing it back. We knew when the
:19:21. > :19:26.final whistle went and it was going to a shoot out that it would be our
:19:27. > :19:33.time. Maddie was exceptional in goals, and Holly calmly finished it
:19:34. > :19:41.off for us. I was trying to get the hash tag going yesterday, because
:19:42. > :19:45.Maddie was just outstanding. In a penalty situation in whatever sport,
:19:46. > :19:52.the goalkeeper is essential, but he had a wonderful night. We are so
:19:53. > :19:57.blessed to have four goalkeepers on the programme, and we are so blessed
:19:58. > :20:03.they are such great goalkeepers, and she is one of them, an absolute
:20:04. > :20:07.star. She does her homework, she is so diligent, and just having her
:20:08. > :20:12.behind you, you can afford to give them a few chances because she would
:20:13. > :20:15.keep them out. I don't know if you have seen the pictures everybody is
:20:16. > :20:24.looking at of the stuff she has on her water bottle? The last thing, in
:20:25. > :20:27.big letters, says, stay big. Chin up, and the numbers of various
:20:28. > :20:34.penalty takers, and who to watch out for a short corners... She does her
:20:35. > :20:39.homework, she is really in depth. They are the key points for her to
:20:40. > :20:44.focus on, to keep her calm and objective and not emotional, but she
:20:45. > :20:48.really does her homework. And she really helps these guys take their
:20:49. > :20:52.penalty shuffles. She tells them what the opponents do, what they
:20:53. > :20:57.favour in goal, and they work of that and try to score. So it works
:20:58. > :21:04.both ways in defence and attack. Would you like to see your winning
:21:05. > :21:07.penalty again? I am sure you would. Holly, talk us through what we
:21:08. > :21:10.through your head before taking this. Before taking it I am just
:21:11. > :21:18.trying to think of all the training we have done. The celebrations were
:21:19. > :21:23.crazy, I did not know what to do. I am just trying to imagine that I am
:21:24. > :21:27.training with low ones there, it is not an Olympic final, and I don't
:21:28. > :21:34.have too score to win. So you were quite calm? Thinking back, I don't
:21:35. > :21:39.know how I was so calm, it was a little bubble, it was so weird, the
:21:40. > :21:44.five of us taking them, we stood there, and even though we missed and
:21:45. > :21:48.they saved, we still believed that we were definitely going to win the
:21:49. > :21:55.shuffles. I don't know where it came from. There was not any doubt? You
:21:56. > :22:01.were really confident? Not at all. Yeah, yeah. It is amazing that you
:22:02. > :22:06.felt that way. Where did it come from? Team spirit or believe in each
:22:07. > :22:11.other? Last summer at the European Championships we took the Dutch to a
:22:12. > :22:18.shoot out. I think we practised for them a lot, and it is the belief
:22:19. > :22:25.within the team, and, yeah, I think that. How fast did you run from
:22:26. > :22:30.the...? We were not wearing GPS so we don't know for certain but it was
:22:31. > :22:34.a good old sprint. That is the highest I have ever jumped in
:22:35. > :22:38.celebration. What was lovely about that moment, and you prepare your
:22:39. > :22:45.whole life for that, but you never go through, when we win, what do I
:22:46. > :22:49.do? So everything just comes... It was a blur. Everything just seemed
:22:50. > :22:53.to stop. I did not know what to do so I just stood there and jumped
:22:54. > :22:57.around and waited for them all. At what age did you all start actually
:22:58. > :23:05.playing hockey? School or after that? School. I started when I was
:23:06. > :23:13.roughly seven. So a long time, over 20 years ago. I was 12. Secondary
:23:14. > :23:19.school. I was eight, at a local hockey club. Quite a few people want
:23:20. > :23:23.to know about your nickname, the baby faced assassin. Who started it
:23:24. > :23:28.and do you like it? I can't remember, I think it might have been
:23:29. > :23:32.a few girls from the U21 team, when I played for them I was quite young
:23:33. > :23:40.and still looked quite young, so it kind of stock. Do you actually call
:23:41. > :23:47.her that? No, I think you have grown out of it now. You have another
:23:48. > :23:53.nickname though. Keeping that to yourself, good idea. What effect do
:23:54. > :23:58.you hope this will have back home on local hockey clubs? We are already
:23:59. > :24:04.hearing today about people ringing the local club and sing, can I bring
:24:05. > :24:08.my kids? For me, that is the most amazing thing. We all want a gold
:24:09. > :24:11.medal and this is amazing but to hear that, and all the messages we
:24:12. > :24:16.have had from home, and everybody who wants to get into hockey, no
:24:17. > :24:20.matter your age or your gender, that is just amazing that people will be
:24:21. > :24:25.inspired by it and are loving it. That is literally the best thing
:24:26. > :24:31.about winning this. If 1% of those 10 million join a hockey club that
:24:32. > :24:35.makes a huge difference, doesn't it? That is the whole point of inspiring
:24:36. > :24:39.the next generation. I member watching Kelly Holmes and it
:24:40. > :24:43.inspired me. If you can encourage one person to take up any sport and
:24:44. > :24:48.be involved and be active and have fun, then that is job done for us.
:24:49. > :24:52.Another question, what advice would you give to an 8-10 -year-old about
:24:53. > :24:59.what sport to play? You are just saying, do something? Anything. Just
:25:00. > :25:03.enjoy it. Do not feel pressured to choose a sport to early. The more
:25:04. > :25:07.you can do, the more experience you can get from sport, it just builds
:25:08. > :25:12.you up as a person and you learn so much from it. Sacrifice is a big one
:25:13. > :25:17.as well. I know that you say, oh, I have given up all these things to
:25:18. > :25:21.get here, but the life of a sport star, yes, it has magical moments,
:25:22. > :25:25.but so much hard work goes into preparing and getting through those
:25:26. > :25:31.moments. What have you done to get here? I would call it a life choice
:25:32. > :25:36.rather than a sacrifice. Even though we don't get to do some stuff like,
:25:37. > :25:41.for instance, university, it was not the same as a normal university
:25:42. > :25:45.student. But all of that, missing out on certain bits you would have
:25:46. > :25:50.liked to have done with your friends, etc, weddings, you are not
:25:51. > :25:55.there... It is all totally worth it. 100% with that, over again. All the
:25:56. > :26:03.weddings she missed, she does not care. 100%. It is a choice. And when
:26:04. > :26:11.you have got a gold medal around your neck it is completely worth it.
:26:12. > :26:15.I have nothing to add to that. How do you build your team spirit? You
:26:16. > :26:18.say you do a lot of training together, but another question
:26:19. > :26:24.leading into that, when you leave here, what do you then go back to?
:26:25. > :26:30.When you return to the UK, what happens next? Team spirit, first. A
:26:31. > :26:33.good one is these are really horrible running sessions. We have
:26:34. > :26:37.some really horrible training sessions and the best thing is when
:26:38. > :26:41.you finish and you just huddled together as a team. You are like, we
:26:42. > :26:46.have just gone through that, it will pay off in the end. So that is a key
:26:47. > :26:54.one for me. Going through hard times together really brings you together.
:26:55. > :26:59.Through the National Lottery funding we receive we are able to train
:27:00. > :27:03.together day in, day out. We know each other so well because of that.
:27:04. > :27:07.We have been through the tough times and stuck together. The belief that
:27:08. > :27:12.we have in one another is exceptional. We go out there and we
:27:13. > :27:18.know our job and we do our individual job for the team. There
:27:19. > :27:25.are 31 of us who train day in, day out, for this. And this has only
:27:26. > :27:29.been 16, plus free reserves able to come out here. So all of those
:27:30. > :27:32.people back home who could not come, and the reserves, they all deserve
:27:33. > :27:37.one of these, and we would not be here without them, because they wish
:27:38. > :27:41.us every day to get better. So the team spirit and everything we have
:27:42. > :27:46.is generated by all of those people, not just the people who are here.
:27:47. > :27:50.Did you all her family out with you? People watching, or people back home
:27:51. > :27:59.today, I imagine? My family are right over there. The majority of my
:28:00. > :28:08.family are actually out in Rio. Many of us have had parents coming out to
:28:09. > :28:12.support us. It was two to one Dutch versus British supporters yesterday,
:28:13. > :28:17.but we were definitely louder. My family is back at home but they have
:28:18. > :28:21.all been watching, cheering us on. My mum and my dad and my brothers
:28:22. > :28:27.came out, they flew back home, and then flew back for the final. So
:28:28. > :28:30.they have racked up the miles. Let's look at the medal moment. It was the
:28:31. > :28:36.longest medal ceremony I think I have ever seen in my life. 40
:28:37. > :28:40.minutes. You have had all the adulation, jumped up and down, the
:28:41. > :28:45.emotion poured out, is this a more serious moment, an emotional moment?
:28:46. > :28:48.Is this when you think about all the hard work and the hours of practice
:28:49. > :28:54.and training and the fact you have played hockey since you were seven
:28:55. > :28:58.years old? It is a moment to reflect, almost, you have it around
:28:59. > :29:03.your neck, you have done your bit, you just think back to what it has
:29:04. > :29:08.taken to get there, and all the girls back home, we are just a small
:29:09. > :29:12.proportion of the 31 training squad, but for me, when we sang the
:29:13. > :29:16.national anthem, I do not cry, but even I cried. It is just
:29:17. > :29:22.overwhelming. To be on that podium in the gold medal position. Is it
:29:23. > :29:28.weird, watching it back? Really weird. I know this important
:29:29. > :29:34.question, what can you tell us about the party last night? Look at your
:29:35. > :29:38.faces! It was really nice. It was mostly us, some of the men's squad,
:29:39. > :29:42.and our family and friends who travelled out. It was really nice
:29:43. > :29:47.because we have not seen much of our friends and family whilst out here.
:29:48. > :29:50.We started on the first day of the Olympics and finished yesterday. And
:29:51. > :29:55.straight after one game you focus on the next so we have been in a
:29:56. > :30:00.bubble. So it was nice to get to see everyone and celebrate with them. It
:30:01. > :30:04.sounds like a good night. And what is the best thing about being in
:30:05. > :30:08.Rio, other than obviously these things around your next the moment?
:30:09. > :30:12.You say that, obviously, like you say, virtually day one until now,
:30:13. > :30:18.have you had time to do anything else?
:30:19. > :30:26.We had a trip up Sugarloaf Mountain, the views were stunning, and the
:30:27. > :30:31.people have been very friendly, and the energy is infectious. And it is
:30:32. > :30:34.a very special city. I would probably say the volunteers have
:30:35. > :30:39.been great, almost reminded me a little bit of London when they
:30:40. > :30:46.really get behind you and they've been very helpful, very supportive,
:30:47. > :30:51.and always asking for pin switches. So just the volunteers that make it
:30:52. > :30:56.very special. Just the support, whether it is Team GB support from
:30:57. > :31:02.people we have had from people who know hockey or don't know it. It's
:31:03. > :31:07.just been incredible. What now? What is the next thing? Are you going as
:31:08. > :31:13.far as Tokyo or a few months down the line? A little bit of a rest may
:31:14. > :31:17.be, first. We don't get too many holidays so a little bit of a rest
:31:18. > :31:22.personally for me, then I'm going to Vietnam's Prahalad. I have a couple
:31:23. > :31:26.of weeks off, then I'm playing out in Holland, I'm playing a season out
:31:27. > :31:33.there. Quite a few of the squad play in Holland, don't they? Yes. I'm
:31:34. > :31:38.going back to work after a couple of weeks. I work at DEFRA, I'm studying
:31:39. > :31:44.to be an accountant. It is very different. Clever and incredibly
:31:45. > :31:48.good at sport. One final thing I supposes there will be changed now
:31:49. > :31:53.in the team because your captain is moving on, you can see it is sad
:31:54. > :31:56.because you've been through this wonderful experience together but do
:31:57. > :31:59.you feel there's been a real strength amongst these players here
:32:00. > :32:04.and those that weren't able to get here that this can be continued
:32:05. > :32:10.success? Winning it is one thing but staying there is the next big step,
:32:11. > :32:18.isn't it? Massively. It is going to be a real loss, K definitely
:32:19. > :32:24.inspired meal when I was younger to play hockey. Definitely. The
:32:25. > :32:28.programme we have, thanks to UK Sport and national lottery, will
:32:29. > :32:32.enable that. And our three mottoes are inspire the future, create
:32:33. > :32:37.history, and be the difference. By the programme we set up and the
:32:38. > :32:43.girls we have got back home, we are looking to Tokyo to try to match
:32:44. > :32:52.this. Run it through again? Inspire the future, be the history, be the
:32:53. > :32:56.difference. The messages we have had today, I'm sure you've had them on
:32:57. > :32:59.your own social media accounts, and of those 10 million watching, so
:33:00. > :33:03.many have said it was a brilliant real highlight of the games for them
:33:04. > :33:07.and it was wonderful to watch and your joy and enthusiasm at the end
:33:08. > :33:14.was brilliant so congratulations on the gold medal. Give them a big
:33:15. > :33:18.round of applause. Bigger than that! It is BBC Four, you can cut loose!
:33:19. > :33:24.It's been great to have you won. Just a reminder, there's plenty more
:33:25. > :33:35.still to come tonight. We will have the taekwondo for you at one
:33:36. > :33:42.o'clock. Both are British competitors lost this semifinals but
:33:43. > :33:46.they can come away with a bronze if they win their matches. One o'clock
:33:47. > :33:48.on BBC Four. After that if you switch over to BBC One, you'll be
:33:49. > :34:06.able to see the main man in action. A story of human movement. This
:34:07. > :34:17.looks easy. It has been anything but. 1983, the start. Twin boys born
:34:18. > :34:27.in Mogadishu, Somalia. Eight years later, one twin moves to London. He
:34:28. > :34:31.loves football. Running. Running wins. There are setbacks.
:34:32. > :34:40.Disappointing performance by Mo Farah. Successes. He is destroying
:34:41. > :34:46.them in the home straight! He must change. Change routine. Coach.
:34:47. > :34:58.Change everything. He must move to move faster. Is he ready now? Is
:34:59. > :35:03.this the time? Is this the place? He is kicking again! Mo Farah is going
:35:04. > :35:13.for it! It is gold! He's the double Olympic champion! Here's our Mo
:35:14. > :35:17.nights, and this is our Motown. It becomes the motion picture of the
:35:18. > :35:27.age to be repeated and appreciated time after town. Our monumental Mo.
:35:28. > :35:33.Mo Farah at his best, Mo Farah is the world champion again. Five world
:35:34. > :35:39.titles, simply sensational. What comes next in this story of human
:35:40. > :35:54.movement? Already among the greats, can he pull clear? Rio Mo. Go, Mo.
:35:55. > :35:58.Wonderful words but here's the little plan for the evening. Just a
:35:59. > :36:04.reminder, we will go to see some water polo in a moment. Taekwondo at
:36:05. > :36:14.1am, and Mo Farah at 1:30am. The stuff that isn't on there is your
:36:15. > :36:20.Text Santa wheats which will -- which we will be reading. By popular
:36:21. > :36:25.demand, the best bits section, which lovely Tim has put together. Big
:36:26. > :36:29.thanks to him. Let's show you a bit of water polo. This is the men's
:36:30. > :36:33.gold medal match. It is Croatia taking on Serbia, and commentary on
:36:34. > :36:37.this one comes from Mark Tompkins and John Harkin. It'll be
:36:38. > :36:49.interesting to see how this is refereed.
:36:50. > :36:56.So, here we go, this is the men's final here at the Rio Olympics.
:36:57. > :37:11.Straight away, Croatia have first control of the ball thanks to their
:37:12. > :37:23.player. Garcia, playing his fourth Olympics. There is no
:37:24. > :37:32.Pavic in the starting 74 Croatia. Eight a quarter. Those 22nd
:37:33. > :37:37.exclusions could be the key to this. This will be a physical battle so
:37:38. > :37:42.the referees will be needed here. It'll be interesting to see whether
:37:43. > :37:56.or not they are heavy light. Serbia's starting line-up is just on
:37:57. > :38:06.your screens. Gocic is the captain. The left-hander, Filipovic. First
:38:07. > :38:11.save of the game made by Bijac. If you aren't going to score, get the
:38:12. > :38:14.keeper to get it over. So you get the ball back and another 30 seconds
:38:15. > :38:27.on the clock. This will force Serbia, if they
:38:28. > :38:35.can't get further in, to shoot from well out. He's going to draw the
:38:36. > :38:41.exclusion! It is the Croatian number eight that is swimming out, Andro
:38:42. > :38:46.Buslje, so the first exclusion of the final, giving Serbia a player
:38:47. > :38:53.advantage. This is where they are at their most dangerous. They move the
:38:54. > :38:56.ball around exceptionally well, drawing the Croatians out of
:38:57. > :39:06.position. It is a fairly simple goal. Great call. Zivko Gocic
:39:07. > :39:13.scores. The fact they move the players around, and had the defence
:39:14. > :39:18.guessing. That looks easy now. The other player dragged that little bit
:39:19. > :39:22.of space and up he pops, and it is a great goal, Dusko Pijetlovic. Plenty
:39:23. > :39:33.of practice has gone into scoring a goal like that. The ideal goal. They
:39:34. > :39:41.are big men. They have to miss for it not to go in. There is another
:39:42. > :39:47.exclusion here. It is Serbia's number four, Sava Randelovic.
:39:48. > :39:49.Croatia with a chance to try to get themselves back into the game in the
:39:50. > :40:01.final. Two Centre forwards in trying to
:40:02. > :40:06.keep the Serbians under pressure. And it is over the top from Setka.
:40:07. > :40:12.Because it was blocked by the defender, it'll be throw-out. This
:40:13. > :40:17.has given us a hint of how they will referee. They will try to keep this
:40:18. > :40:23.game light. They don't want them to be monster in each other. Oh!
:40:24. > :40:31.Filipovic was on but the shot was too high, of all things. It may have
:40:32. > :40:36.taken a slight deflection. He's usually so prolific in that
:40:37. > :40:38.position, Filipovic. So, Croatia survive that Serbia attack and they
:40:39. > :40:56.are back on an attack of their own. Oh, fired in! I think it might have
:40:57. > :41:00.bounced back and hit the back of the goalkeeper's head. Let's have a look
:41:01. > :41:05.at the real play. It is a marvellous shot. It has come off the crossbar,
:41:06. > :41:11.come down and hit the back of the goalkeeper, and gone in. You see
:41:12. > :41:20.this a lot. It goes in. Sandro Sukno had the shot. Off the back of
:41:21. > :41:24.Branislav Mitrovic. His 15th goal of 40 attempts. It is a great
:41:25. > :41:33.percentage at this level of water polo. 1-1.
:41:34. > :41:45.Surely, there is a call! But no. He was looking for a kick out or
:41:46. > :41:50.five-metre penalty. The referees have allowed that to run on and a
:41:51. > :42:00.chance for Croatia to come forward again with Andelo Setka.
:42:01. > :42:11.The two centre forwards keeping their width. The two centre forwards
:42:12. > :42:18.is common on the fact the defence from Serbia has been very good.
:42:19. > :42:26.Great ball forward by Filipovic, here is a chance for Mandic. It went
:42:27. > :42:32.in for the second goal for Mandic. And the strength of that man... Both
:42:33. > :42:37.players had hold of each other, the defender and the man with the ball.
:42:38. > :42:42.You can hang onto him, he will do what he is doing there. That takes
:42:43. > :42:50.tremendous strength, tremendous leg strength. The left-hander gets his
:42:51. > :42:54.ninth goal of this Olympic Games and Marko Bijac is beaten again. What a
:42:55. > :43:02.great start to the final we've had, three goals in four minutes. Croatia
:43:03. > :43:13.are back on the attack again with Maro Jokovic.
:43:14. > :43:23.Garcia trying to get an angle. There will be in exclusion here against
:43:24. > :43:35.Serbia's number nine, Nikola Jaksic. Croatia have the extra man. They're
:43:36. > :43:48.going to shoot from outside. Good save. Mitrovic. Named best keeper
:43:49. > :43:51.last year, Branislav Mitrovic, so living up to the expectations here
:43:52. > :44:04.at the Olympic Games. That will be another exclusion. Good decision.
:44:05. > :44:13.Sandro Sukno. Let's see what they conjure up. Trying to draw the
:44:14. > :44:20.defenders, make some space. It bounced into the cage from another
:44:21. > :44:23.narrow angle. It is Stefan Mitrovic who gets the girl and a little bit
:44:24. > :44:29.of daylight between Serbia and Croatia. You'd have to say, not
:44:30. > :44:38.entitled to score from this angle it is a great shot. The player has been
:44:39. > :44:43.dragged out. That is a marvellous strike. We're going to get a
:44:44. > :44:56.time-out call as well. 3-1 now to Serbia over Croatia. Time-out called
:44:57. > :45:01.by the Croatians. The coach trying to get someone to cross to his team
:45:02. > :45:10.after a fine start by the Serbians. They are dancing, the crowd. They
:45:11. > :45:20.have won the last four league world titles, Serbia. The most recent in
:45:21. > :45:28.2014. The two pesticides here but on form it would be an upset if Croatia
:45:29. > :45:36.world to win. -- were to win. The longer they can hang in... They
:45:37. > :45:43.trailed by two now, though. They beat Italy 8-6 in the final in
:45:44. > :45:49.London 2012, the Croatians. Trailing by two here in the first quarter.
:45:50. > :45:52.Make that trailing by one. That is Garcia using the angle well to fire
:45:53. > :46:04.one in past Branislav Mitrovic. He changed allegiances a couple of
:46:05. > :46:23.years ago. The Croatians tried to recruit him
:46:24. > :46:27.straight after London. It took him another 12 months to get his
:46:28. > :46:36.Croatian passport, that now very much a part of their water polo set
:46:37. > :46:42.up. They needed another left-hander and they finally got their man. That
:46:43. > :46:56.has to be another foul at two metres. No doubt. Working his
:46:57. > :47:03.backside off to do it. They have a player sitting in the girls but that
:47:04. > :47:06.is OK. He is not offside. Got to stay outside the two metres unless
:47:07. > :47:11.you have got the ball or it is in front of you. But this time they
:47:12. > :47:17.cannot find their way through, a punch of the air in the Croatian
:47:18. > :47:21.goal. He is punching the air even though it had the post, I don't
:47:22. > :47:22.think he had much to do with that. There you are, celebrating
:47:23. > :47:34.nevertheless. The players come back in after
:47:35. > :47:37.serving a 20 seconds, don't forget, if you commit three files you are
:47:38. > :47:50.out. Another fine long-range strike from Croatia hits the top this time.
:47:51. > :47:56.Jokovic, with the shot. No time to get any respite in this. Once you
:47:57. > :47:59.finish the attack you have to swim like crazy down the other end.
:48:00. > :48:05.Because Serbia are threatening with every attack at the moment. They
:48:06. > :48:12.have punched him also. They are going nuts down here, absolutely
:48:13. > :48:16.crazy, the Croatians. Off the ball, off the camera, not only did he give
:48:17. > :48:20.away an offensive foul, even popped up and delivered a little short jab
:48:21. > :48:25.to the Croatian. Should have been kicked out, that would have left
:48:26. > :48:29.them a player down for the rest of the match. You cannot replace a
:48:30. > :48:34.player who is thrown out for brutality. A little bit of
:48:35. > :48:38.controversy in the final. You can see the reaction from the Croatian
:48:39. > :48:44.coach, telling his players to calm down. They were furious, on the
:48:45. > :48:49.bench. Absolutely they were. I don't know if we will get a replay.
:48:50. > :48:53.Another time-out has been called. It may not, if it happened off camera.
:48:54. > :49:01.But we can seize early offensive foul. He was holding on, and we
:49:02. > :49:05.don't know what was being done under the water, but he came up and
:49:06. > :49:11.reacted with a short punch straight to the face of his opponent. We have
:49:12. > :49:16.got two referees and neither of them saw the incident. He would have been
:49:17. > :49:21.in trouble if they did. It is a big call to leave a team a player down
:49:22. > :49:26.inside the first quarter of an Olympic gold medal game, but if you
:49:27. > :49:31.saw it, you would have too. Look, he is saying, he hit him. And he is
:49:32. > :49:36.saying, I did not see it. The coach needs to make sure he does not get a
:49:37. > :49:40.yellow card for protesting. Referees do not allow much talking back to
:49:41. > :49:53.them in water polo. Serbia are back on the attack. Just trying to drive
:49:54. > :49:58.across the two metre line. An offensive foul and a chance for a
:49:59. > :50:04.quick counterattack. The pass was only a couple of inches from being
:50:05. > :50:20.perfect. End of the first quarter, a thriller. A brilliant tip over in
:50:21. > :50:27.the final seconds. Nikic, with a long-range shot. Croatia 2-3 Serbia.
:50:28. > :50:33.We will be back in the second period of that shortly. We have moved back
:50:34. > :50:38.outside with people saying, what you doing in that warring studio? I want
:50:39. > :50:48.to see the beach behind you. So here are -- boring studio. One viewer
:50:49. > :50:53.saying, water polo is quite brutal, isn't it? Another, is water polo
:50:54. > :51:00.just underwater wrestling? Yes, they are the units. Quite a bit goes on
:51:01. > :51:09.under the water I think. -- they are big units. Look, you can see perhaps
:51:10. > :51:16.the largest rods we have seen in action so far in our Fishermans
:51:17. > :51:20.corner. The binmen, we think, are down the far end of the beach at the
:51:21. > :51:25.moment. If they go past in the next minute or so you will see them live.
:51:26. > :51:29.If they do not come past in the next minute we will need to do it
:51:30. > :51:34.recorded. People are asking about the promised best bits, when are we
:51:35. > :51:38.going to share all that? We will do that at half-time. Oh, they are
:51:39. > :51:45.coming. Sorry, I'm getting distracted. We will do that at
:51:46. > :51:49.half-time in the water polo, so if you want to see the best bits and
:51:50. > :51:56.all the other Gulf, we will do it in 15 minutes. On the bin news, Amanda
:51:57. > :52:01.says she has an orange bean in Glasgow. She sent a picture. Thank
:52:02. > :52:08.you for that. And Emma has found you can buy one, very similar to the Rio
:52:09. > :52:18.ones, ?459 so if you are that obsessed, maybe that is a wise
:52:19. > :52:22.investment. -- for ?59. Did you get your cabal, asks Stacey? Yes, we
:52:23. > :52:31.did. A young man came and grilled it for us and it was very nice indeed.
:52:32. > :52:37.-- our kebab. I am very sorry to say that there is absolutely no sign of
:52:38. > :52:41.Antony Worrall Thompson. You will see him if you stay with us for 15
:52:42. > :52:45.minutes because I am sure he will feature in the best bits, but if he
:52:46. > :52:52.is not here, we might not get any more live AWT, I know you think that
:52:53. > :52:55.means no party, but fear not, it is our final night and we will bring
:52:56. > :53:02.you significant treats. What you pointing at? The binmen? They are
:53:03. > :53:07.coming. Can we stay for them, or do we need to show some sport? I think
:53:08. > :53:10.they are going to take their time. I don't think there is any other
:53:11. > :53:15.channel in the world that would hold the live sport while waiting for our
:53:16. > :53:22.favourite binmen to come and join us on the beach. This is Rafael, Pedro,
:53:23. > :53:28.Alessandra, and Donatello. I think it might take some time. Shall we
:53:29. > :53:32.record it? We will go to the water polo, do not go anywhere, we will
:53:33. > :53:38.show you in man action when you come back, and show you the best bits.
:53:39. > :53:41.How is that for a deal? Here is the second period of the gold medal
:53:42. > :53:46.water polo match, it is important, maybe slightly more potent than our
:53:47. > :53:52.binmen, although the other group are now turning up as well. These are
:53:53. > :53:59.not our boys. These are not our boys. This is like the rival crew.
:54:00. > :54:08.These are our lads. I can't believe we're doing this. Carlos... This is
:54:09. > :54:15.like two worlds colliding. Incredible scenes. It is like a bin
:54:16. > :54:22.off. What on earth is going to happen? They are shaking hands.
:54:23. > :54:28.Maybe they have realised that... I should move out of the way. I feel
:54:29. > :54:32.the need for you to see this action. Maybe they realise how important
:54:33. > :54:37.this is to the people of BBC Four. They know it is the final night. Of
:54:38. > :54:48.Cruise, side-by-side, knowing... Maybe we don't know. -- both crews,
:54:49. > :54:52.side-by-side. Maybe we need to tell them they are so important to our
:54:53. > :55:00.audience. Carlos is going to have a chat with our fabulous binmen crew.
:55:01. > :55:08.Let's do it now. We have got them some gold medals. Come on, come
:55:09. > :55:15.down, it is a bit wobbly, I hope you don't mind, it is BBC Four, it is
:55:16. > :55:22.all good fun. Carlos is explaining. Come down onto the beach. I would
:55:23. > :55:28.love to know... Guys, we have got some gold medals for you, to say
:55:29. > :55:38.thank you. He is coming down. This is going to be a beautiful moment.
:55:39. > :55:54.Guys, come over. Lovely to see you, thank you very much. Your name is
:55:55. > :56:03.Dan? How do you know that? Unbelievable scenes! Can we give a
:56:04. > :56:13.big round of applause to rough ale? Flavio gusto. If you would like to
:56:14. > :56:18.take off your cowboy hat? This is beautiful. Another round of
:56:19. > :56:29.applause, everyone. Lovely to see you. Hold on a moment. The driver.
:56:30. > :56:42.Look at that. You are very famous. Carlos? What is he saying, Carlos?
:56:43. > :56:51.He is saying he is a musician also, and wants to give you a card. Have
:56:52. > :56:53.you got a guitar with you? Will you come back and play the guitar for us
:56:54. > :57:22.later? Yes! THEY SPEAK PORTUGUESE. He is going to come back? Lovely.
:57:23. > :57:28.Live guitar, later on. A picture? For social media? Very nice to see
:57:29. > :57:47.you. Thank you very much guys. We love the copper cabana binmen --
:57:48. > :57:52.Copacabana. I am not sure what to say after
:57:53. > :57:57.that. If you are at home in the UK, thinking, what on earth have I
:57:58. > :58:02.turned on? This is the magic of BBC Four. If you have been watching,
:58:03. > :58:06.these guys have been superstars throughout our coverage. Every night
:58:07. > :58:10.they come by and have a chat, that was actually a slightly different
:58:11. > :58:14.crew, it is the weekend, things might be slightly different. But
:58:15. > :58:18.they have obviously been talking to each other because they know all
:58:19. > :58:23.about what we have been doing. It is a pleasure to meet them live on BBC
:58:24. > :58:27.Four and give them gold medals. And the driver is going to come back
:58:28. > :58:32.later for a bit of live guitar. There we go. We promised you some
:58:33. > :58:39.good beach action and I think that might be a wonderful moment on our
:58:40. > :58:42.final evening on Copacabana. Apologies if you were waiting for
:58:43. > :58:46.the water polo but we had important business to address. We are now
:58:47. > :58:51.returning to Croatia versus Serbia for the gold medal match. Don't go
:58:52. > :58:58.anywhere, the best bits are coming up in 15 minutes time. Goodbye.
:58:59. > :59:05.Maybe he was going to shoot himself, outside the five. But again,
:59:06. > :59:12.remember, it is both of them at the moment. They are just trying to
:59:13. > :59:17.force the defenders... Or keep them out wide. And that is another weak
:59:18. > :59:31.shot that is taken comfortably by Mitrovic. The -- 11-4 when they met
:59:32. > :59:45.in the World Championships, in the Serbia's favour. He is Filipovic.
:59:46. > :59:48.Brilliantly blocked. He was fouled, he cannot interfere with the free
:59:49. > :59:53.throw but he can block with his hand, and that was very well done.
:59:54. > :59:55.More importantly, it sets up his team for another attack as they try
:59:56. > :00:09.to get back to 3-3. Another long-range shot is tipped
:00:10. > :00:16.over by Mitrovic. Another 30 seconds on the shot clock. They won their
:00:17. > :00:21.opening two matches before losing to Spain, before the knockout stage
:00:22. > :00:23.victories, Croatia. Four goals the winning margins against both Brazil
:00:24. > :00:34.and Montenegrin. Nothing happening in terms of the
:00:35. > :00:45.Centre forward. The Centre forward trying to get himself set. Can't.
:00:46. > :00:57.Being marshalled by the captain Gocic. It is disallowed. The whistle
:00:58. > :01:00.has gone. And exclusion here. That is because the player had already
:01:01. > :01:07.been excluded. That is a little unlucky. We are going to get the
:01:08. > :01:12.yellow card. He has turned to the Croatian bench but just to assure
:01:13. > :01:19.you, the yellow card has gone on to the assistant coach, not the coach.
:01:20. > :01:25.I still think he is going on about that punch in the opening quarter.
:01:26. > :01:31.You have got to let it go. His side is in this up to their eyeballs.
:01:32. > :01:37.He is on. That was a marvellous bit of play, just let them with the
:01:38. > :01:46.final execution. It was very well worked, extra man, but well wide
:01:47. > :01:54.with the shot. The goal that was disallowed has infuriated him.
:01:55. > :01:59.Serbia come forward again. A good save, had to climb high out of the
:02:00. > :02:15.water to get a finger tip on that one. Bijac with the save. 3-2,
:02:16. > :02:20.still. Three minutes played in the second quarter. One of the Serbians
:02:21. > :02:29.cherry picking then the other end. He is way back about five metres.
:02:30. > :02:36.Good save again, Mitrovic has been in good form so far. That is his
:02:37. > :02:41.fourth save out of six. Managing to keep his side's goal intact. It is
:02:42. > :02:54.now Filip Hrgovic who will come forward. -- Filipovic. He has been
:02:55. > :03:00.well marked tonight, he was held back. So an extra man for Serbia.
:03:01. > :03:12.The Croatian Number Ten Krapic, who had the goal disallowed. Still he
:03:13. > :03:17.continues to throw his arms around at the referee, he is not a happy
:03:18. > :03:30.man, is he? Krapic climbs out of the water.
:03:31. > :03:42.Stabbed three this getting it in the neck from the coach at the moment --
:03:43. > :03:53.Stavridis getting it in the neck. They are back Square. What a
:03:54. > :03:57.backhanded shot from close range by Nikic. They had done all the hard
:03:58. > :04:02.work, got themselves where and when they thought they had the chance of
:04:03. > :04:06.a canter, the ball straight into the Centre forward and what about this
:04:07. > :04:20.for the Centre forward's goal with the backhand, stuffs it into the
:04:21. > :04:27.bottom corner. No chance for Bijac. 4-2. Croatian coach has a on both
:04:28. > :04:31.shoulders and at the moment, there is way too much discussion down
:04:32. > :04:36.there. The players will take a lead from that, they will feel hard done
:04:37. > :04:39.by. He needs to settle down, otherwise every call that goes
:04:40. > :04:45.against them, the team will feel that they are being hard done by,
:04:46. > :04:51.being cheated. I don't want to use that word other than in a
:04:52. > :04:55.psychological sense but they need to focus on the fact that they are
:04:56. > :05:05.still in it. Another foul here. It is an exclusion for Serbia. Mandic
:05:06. > :05:09.on the swim back. There will be a time out here and the chance to get
:05:10. > :05:15.the men forward into an attacking position. A little tired, didn't
:05:16. > :05:22.want to swim back too quickly. I'll just have a little grab of my
:05:23. > :05:25.opposite number. They would love to score here with the extra man. The
:05:26. > :05:32.conversation is now going on between the players. They need to settle
:05:33. > :05:36.down. There is a lack of control from Croatia at the moment. There is
:05:37. > :05:44.a game to play, forget refereeing it as well. So many Games against each
:05:45. > :05:47.other in the past, they know each other inside out, these top teams.
:05:48. > :05:53.It is not like any other team sport, where you have 30 or 40 teams trying
:05:54. > :05:57.to qualify for a final, these teams are there every time, so these
:05:58. > :06:03.situations have arisen many times. And many of them are team-mates
:06:04. > :06:17.across the two nations, so they know each other very well. Mandic and
:06:18. > :06:21.Setka be good examples. It is another save from Mitrovic but it
:06:22. > :06:26.wasn't the greatest of shops, in fairness. The goalie is getting the
:06:27. > :06:30.better of these tussles. It has just come off the arm of one of the
:06:31. > :06:40.blocking players, made it a little easier.
:06:41. > :06:46.Filopovic has spent every minute in the pool so far this final. I was
:06:47. > :06:58.just thinking the same, the amount of minutes he has played. Oh,
:06:59. > :07:06.wonderful, Filopovic was involved and it is another goal and the
:07:07. > :07:11.advantage stretches a little further by Gocic. He was just jumping high,
:07:12. > :07:14.there was a little block as he jumped high to come across it and
:07:15. > :07:21.cover the near post. There is an example where the log was on. That
:07:22. > :07:22.stretches it a bit, three goals, two and a bit minutes to go in this
:07:23. > :07:33.first half. Gocic with bronze medals in London
:07:34. > :07:37.and Beijing, so with his third Olympics, he is guaranteed at least
:07:38. > :07:43.a silver. Filopovic has come out of the pool for a short break. Croatia
:07:44. > :07:54.back on the attack, more defensive minded for the Serbians. Another
:07:55. > :08:03.exclusion for a little tug. Randelovic get his second exclusion.
:08:04. > :08:16.Garcia Gadea has scored already but not bad time with the defending.
:08:17. > :08:20.Setka has found a way through. He is having a game, Setka. There is the
:08:21. > :08:30.kick out. Nothing wrong with that decision. Quick pass and off the
:08:31. > :08:34.hand, in it goes. They get Garcia Gadea involved on plenty of
:08:35. > :08:38.occasions. That's left-handed throw is perfect for the handle, into
:08:39. > :08:47.players like macro on this nearside of the pool. -- like Setka. Inside
:08:48. > :08:53.the final two minutes of the first half. Serbia will want to try to
:08:54. > :09:03.keep the pressure on. Here is another shot from outside five.
:09:04. > :09:08.Mandic with his second of the game. Another left-hander shows his work.
:09:09. > :09:13.Filopovic shouts his encouragement. Goal Number Ten of these 2016 Rio
:09:14. > :09:16.Olympic Games. What about the athleticism of not only getting a
:09:17. > :09:23.but getting up and being able to turn his body around with those
:09:24. > :09:27.great legs and core strength to use lot it in around the arms of his
:09:28. > :09:34.defender. Psychologically, it is very important for the Serbians to
:09:35. > :09:45.retain a handy lead. If they go up but -- if they go in those goals up,
:09:46. > :09:53.it is difficult mentally for the Croatians to come back. Another good
:09:54. > :09:57.save by Mitrovic. They have got the look of the bounce, Croatia -- the
:09:58. > :10:13.good luck. Prlainovic at the 22nd, so Croatia
:10:14. > :10:19.with the extra player. And with the extra seconds, so important they can
:10:20. > :10:24.score here. He had his arm up begging for it. On two metres, he
:10:25. > :10:29.was absolutely begging for that ball. They will get another 30
:10:30. > :10:44.seconds, though. Time-out called by Serbia. The shot blocked by Setka.
:10:45. > :10:57.It was a block, so it will turn over to Serbia. Thing is not going
:10:58. > :11:03.Croatia's way in the first half. He was begging for the ball but they
:11:04. > :11:08.couldn't get it to him. Serbia will come back with it and what a telling
:11:09. > :11:12.blow this could be if with, just 51 seconds left in the second period,
:11:13. > :11:18.they get another one. They are out by three, their biggest lead so far
:11:19. > :11:21.in the match. Well it shows how they perhaps underperformed in the group
:11:22. > :11:29.stage, they finished fourth, so they played the top team in the other
:11:30. > :11:32.group. But it has worked in their favour because it was Spain that
:11:33. > :11:38.they played, saw them off in the quarterfinals. They put themselves
:11:39. > :11:47.under pressure, as you say. A loss to Brazil. Trying to milk the Faldo,
:11:48. > :11:52.pushed off with the left hand, so an offensive foul pull-back for the
:11:53. > :11:58.Croats. Oh, no. Can you believe this? They have got a foul
:11:59. > :12:05.centrefield with a little offensive foul from the Croatians, so Serbia
:12:06. > :12:10.will come back with it. They are literally playing into Serbia's
:12:11. > :12:20.hands at the moment, Croatia. It is a coach killer, that one. Clean the
:12:21. > :12:31.one backed by Garcia Gadea -- cleanly one -- won back. Filopovic
:12:32. > :12:37.out for 20 seconds. So there are a few seconds to go in this first.
:12:38. > :12:43.Someone has to take a ping. The left-hander might. Yes, he will.
:12:44. > :12:47.Back into play. It would have gone back to Croatia for 30 seconds but
:12:48. > :12:51.the hooter goes for the end of the first of and despite the fact there
:12:52. > :12:55.is a 3-goal cushion, Croatia have had their chances to get more goals
:12:56. > :12:57.in this half. At the halfway point in the gold-medal match, it is three
:12:58. > :13:08.- six. Thank you, gentlemen, so Serbia
:13:09. > :13:11.leading Croatia 6-3 at half-time. That is the gold-medal match,
:13:12. > :13:21.remember. We shall be showing a bit more of that for you later on. Thank
:13:22. > :13:25.you for all of your reaction to the Copaca binmen. While you were
:13:26. > :13:28.watching that, something special happened and we recorded it for you,
:13:29. > :13:33.and here it is. Ladies and gentlemen, look what has
:13:34. > :13:39.happened, the Copaca binmen have returned. There we go. One of our
:13:40. > :13:43.regulars wasn't on the tractor the last time round, so they came back
:13:44. > :13:48.because we had one gold-medal left. Four of them have dazzled us that
:13:49. > :13:51.these Olympic Games, so it gives me great pleasure to watch it with the
:13:52. > :13:57.BBC for gold medal. Thank you very much. Lovely to see you all, boys.
:13:58. > :14:01.This is genuinely a high point of my career. Can we line up for a nice
:14:02. > :14:10.down the Camara for the medals. Come on. In all seriousness, these guys
:14:11. > :14:15.do an unbelievable job and it has been a pleasure to watch it every
:14:16. > :14:20.night. Ladies and gentlemen, the Copaca binmen!
:14:21. > :14:26.They are lovely guys and what we didn't realise is they have been
:14:27. > :14:29.enjoying it as much as we have been enjoying it. We have had so many
:14:30. > :14:33.lovely messages over the last two weeks and I know we have messed a bit
:14:34. > :14:38.about with the water polo, but we have been able to show you some
:14:39. > :14:44.fantastic sport as well over the last two weeks and really hope
:14:45. > :14:47.you've enjoyed that. For all those who requested a summation of
:14:48. > :14:50.some of the madness and the sights and the sounds we have seen on
:14:51. > :15:00.Copacabana Beach, here, courtesy of lovely Tim from BBC 4 team, is the
:15:01. > :15:06.Copacabanter best bits. Time now for the headlines on BBC Four. This is
:15:07. > :15:12.nice, there will be no actual violence, it is all gentle and fun.
:15:13. > :15:18.Good evening. Life fishing on BBC Four. Fishermen's corner. Greg is
:15:19. > :15:19.doing his business on the far side of the track. Stop laughing, you
:15:20. > :15:31.lot. Massive bin man news, massive bin
:15:32. > :15:37.man use, what a job. We're not going to zoom in but rest assured, it's
:15:38. > :15:41.not that, apparently they are reading a book, they are reading a
:15:42. > :15:51.book, in a strange pose. Magnificent scenes, maybe that's how you do it
:15:52. > :16:01.in Brazil. A Brazilian hen party. Weather BBC. The BBC! BBC. Guess who
:16:02. > :16:07.has turned up, it's Maria's Mum, everybody. Say hi to the family. See
:16:08. > :16:11.you later. You're getting married! Antony Worrall Thompson, headphones
:16:12. > :16:19.on, ready to go. Where are you going on your holidays? We're talking
:16:20. > :16:31.about our six life, actually? Absolute wipe-out, that was. It is
:16:32. > :16:31.this cabaret? -- Caparo. Look at that, magnificent movement from
:16:32. > :16:51.Antony Worrall Thompson. MUSIC
:16:52. > :17:04.I hope they not dragging that young fellow into the sea. Never work with
:17:05. > :17:11.children and animals. Yes! They've got full beans, but they don't have
:17:12. > :17:21.the friendliness of our regular Copaca binmen. We got away with
:17:22. > :17:25.that. There you go, we've had great fun over the last few weeks. We've
:17:26. > :17:28.got a great crowd tonight, good evening, everybody. I'd like to
:17:29. > :17:33.think they are here to watch us but actually we have BBC One on another
:17:34. > :17:36.monitor and they are watching the final of the football, currently
:17:37. > :17:41.Brazil one and Germany want, into added time. We're happy to give you
:17:42. > :17:47.the service. -- Germany one. We are going to get back to the water polo
:17:48. > :17:50.for you and we may show you, our editor has been nice, he may show
:17:51. > :17:55.you the full Maria interview before we leave you at 2am. We will
:17:56. > :17:59.continue to read out your texts and tweets. We might get back out on the
:18:00. > :18:05.beach, to fishermen's corner. Evening full stop oh, no, no
:18:06. > :18:12.response! Verities. Maybe we won't go over there. -- there it is. We
:18:13. > :18:17.are going to go back to the water polo. This is into the second half,
:18:18. > :18:24.commentary on Serbia against Croatia from Mark Tompkins and John Harker.
:18:25. > :18:29.COMMENTATOR: There's the quarter by quarter
:18:30. > :18:35.summary, three goals in each of those quarters from the Serbs, who
:18:36. > :18:39.are in control of the match with 16 minutes to play. Every time the
:18:40. > :18:43.whistle-blowers, the clock stops, so a lot more than 16 minutes between
:18:44. > :18:49.now and the end, but 16 minutes of play. Stefan Mitrovic Chand the swim
:18:50. > :18:54.off for Serbia in the blue cap, so we are playing towards the left end
:18:55. > :18:59.this time. Filipovic is still in the box, so they will start this a man
:19:00. > :19:05.down. If they get possession though, he gets to come straight back in. It
:19:06. > :19:09.is Croatia that have possession, so Filipovic will have to stay where he
:19:10. > :19:14.is in the exclusion zone. Now he's back into the game, straight into a
:19:15. > :19:22.defensive position for his team. The first attack for Croatia. I'd love
:19:23. > :19:33.to have heard what their coach had to say to them at half-time.
:19:34. > :19:40.Jokovic. Good defence from the centre back. They haven't done that
:19:41. > :19:46.too often in this game. The Croatians get themselves a goal,
:19:47. > :19:52.they are back to two now, it's 6-4. Can you explain what the way is in
:19:53. > :19:57.there? It's a remarkable goal. Sometimes they have a great vision
:19:58. > :20:00.to see a little gap past the goalkeeper. We've seen some
:20:01. > :20:04.wonderful shooting here that has literally been right in the corners,
:20:05. > :20:10.just skimming the post, such great accuracy. Were going to get a player
:20:11. > :20:20.kicked out of the centre. And extra man chance for Serbia. Sandro Sukno
:20:21. > :20:29.with his second 22nd exclusion -- his second 20 - second exclusion. A
:20:30. > :20:38.knob into centre, they try to work in between the Centre forward, it
:20:39. > :20:41.was almost worked in. Well defended by Croatia. It takes a lot of skill
:20:42. > :21:01.to pass from one to the other. Three seconds on the shot clock,
:21:02. > :21:05.they will get another 30, because it came off the goalkeeper. A great
:21:06. > :21:10.shot like that to the low corner, needs to get carried away, only a
:21:11. > :21:15.couple of seconds to go on the shot clock as you say and now, another
:21:16. > :21:23.30, so they will be first to score, Vista get them back within one. Just
:21:24. > :21:31.the sort of start they wanted to the third quarter, if they can
:21:32. > :21:36.capitalise on this possession. A defensive foul, the ball turns over
:21:37. > :21:48.back to Serbia. Yes, centre forward, just dunking the centre back.
:21:49. > :21:58.A lot of the shot clock has been tied up by swimming to the other
:21:59. > :22:02.side of the pool. He is Mitrovic. Fouling going on outside the five
:22:03. > :22:12.metres but not to warrant an exclusion. Turned away by Bijac. It
:22:13. > :22:19.was pretty skilful, almost went over his head. So they will get the ball
:22:20. > :22:26.back and another final 30 seconds. Looking for a foul here to shoot
:22:27. > :22:31.himself, I think. Yes. Tremendous power once again from Filipovic. The
:22:32. > :22:37.elevation out of the water and the sheer force he gets behind the ball
:22:38. > :22:45.gave Bijac no chance whatsoever and probably the man of the tournament
:22:46. > :22:50.gets another goal. The assistant coach for Croatia has been sent out,
:22:51. > :22:57.just off-camera. He must leave the arena immediately. We can't keep
:22:58. > :22:58.going on with this. You knew he was trying to do exactly that and it
:22:59. > :23:09.went like a rocket. He was the most valuable player at
:23:10. > :23:14.Shanghai in the World Championships in 2011, and think he is in danger
:23:15. > :23:18.of picking up that award again here if he's not careful, Filip Hrgovic,
:23:19. > :23:25.goal number 16 from open play, two penalties to add to that tally --
:23:26. > :23:29.Filipovic. The Croatian official still doesn't want to leave the
:23:30. > :23:35.poolside. He's got to go. There's an official we will get back to the
:23:36. > :23:41.action. That's going to be a player out for into flaring with the free
:23:42. > :23:46.throw. An extra chance here for Croatia -- interfering with the free
:23:47. > :23:53.throw. Croatia with a chance to find some space and a good save the game,
:23:54. > :23:57.hit straight at Mitrovic. A good safe by the goalkeeper. The
:23:58. > :24:08.assistant coaches finally out of the arena. He did well there. If
:24:09. > :24:21.somebody is trying to get 80 or 90 Ks from five metres. Serbia with
:24:22. > :24:27.possession. Zivko Gocic. That will be Croatia's ball. We are back to
:24:28. > :24:35.the same deficit we had at the end of the first half. Croatia coming
:24:36. > :24:46.forward again on the latest attack. We are almost halfway through the
:24:47. > :24:56.third already. Garcia godet. -- that the second exclusion, there's a
:24:57. > :24:59.time-out called. Three players potentially now on a full-time
:25:00. > :25:04.exclusion from the match, if they're not careful. Three of the Serbians
:25:05. > :25:09.have two major fouls, only one of the Croatians, although the one
:25:10. > :25:14.Croatian who does have is Sukno, who is a very valuable player, as we
:25:15. > :25:26.know. So what can they conjure here with an extra man? One minute the
:25:27. > :25:30.duration of the time-out for Ivica Tucak to get tactics across to his
:25:31. > :25:34.team. I've looked at the way -- they will have looked at the way the
:25:35. > :25:40.Serbians have set up and they have the advantage that they can get the
:25:41. > :25:49.angle from the near side of the pool. We haven't seen much of
:25:50. > :25:57.Yanukovych either. -- Jokovic either. Here he is again, the
:25:58. > :26:02.Spaniard. Playing in the red and white of Croatia. They are working
:26:03. > :26:06.this around. They've got some space here. Serbia just looking to keep
:26:07. > :26:11.them tight, prevent the shop coming in and they are doing well at the
:26:12. > :26:15.moment. It's been spilled. Ten seconds back to a full complement.
:26:16. > :26:20.Just over the top, clipped the top of the bar that time. A long-range
:26:21. > :26:29.shot fails to find a way through from Petkovic. They will try to work
:26:30. > :26:32.to the old keeper's right-hand side, he sliced back into three but
:26:33. > :26:37.terrific defence from Serbia to close it down. It's why Garcia was
:26:38. > :26:44.bringing the ball to the one metre line, but could never get three.
:26:45. > :26:48.Great defence, Serbia. Both sides will be leaving with medals but at
:26:49. > :26:53.the moment the colour remains debatable. There is another foul.
:26:54. > :26:58.That's harsh, that's a really harsh ball. It was a poor pass. He was
:26:59. > :27:03.never going to get to that, the Centre forward. They've paid it,
:27:04. > :27:09.unusual. Have a Garcia is the man who is out for -- Xavier Garcia is
:27:10. > :27:14.the man who is out for 20 seconds, so another chance for Serbia here.
:27:15. > :27:18.The ball was pushed under the water. It will be Croatia's ball.
:27:19. > :27:23.Interestingly enough, Serbia, you see the player swimming back out
:27:24. > :27:26.there, he had been sitting in on the goal-line in an offside position and
:27:27. > :27:30.the argument is he's not taking part in the game, but he's distracting
:27:31. > :27:37.the keeper and causing a whole, view is he swims out and scores, that
:27:38. > :27:41.time he didn't get caught, but fortunately the ball didn't go in
:27:42. > :27:48.either. It's another block and once again Serbia protecting their
:27:49. > :27:53.goalkeeper really well here. Buslje the latest Croatian to be denied by
:27:54. > :27:58.some good defending. T hands went up and forced a double block. That was
:27:59. > :28:02.Serbia back up at the other end, looking to add their to tally in the
:28:03. > :28:10.final. Great defence so far from Serbia. Low scoring final. Filipovic
:28:11. > :28:16.is trying to milk a foul. Doesn't need to, doesn't need to! It's an
:28:17. > :28:19.absolute replay of the last goal he scored, exactly the same position,
:28:20. > :28:24.tried to get the foul but then rose out of the water and fired with
:28:25. > :28:31.power past the goalkeeper. We will see a change in goalkeeper now for
:28:32. > :28:36.Croatia. Your zip average coming in. Nothing the goalkeeper could do with
:28:37. > :28:49.shots coming at that pace -- Pavic coming in. This was too much work,
:28:50. > :28:54.I'll have a ping, what a player. 8-4, Serbia lead, two goals in the
:28:55. > :28:58.game now for Filipovic. He is climbing out of the pool on the
:28:59. > :29:04.other side so he can have a slow walk background to his team-mates.
:29:05. > :29:11.Giants of men, these players. Yes, they are big boys. It's not going
:29:12. > :29:17.Croatia's way, looking for a second gold medal at the moment. Savage is
:29:18. > :29:23.serving. Serbia are giving themselves an advantage for the gold
:29:24. > :29:26.medal. Another fiercely struck shot, well saved by Mitrovic, but it has
:29:27. > :29:38.bounced back to the Croatians, so they will get another 30. There will
:29:39. > :29:48.be an exclusion. For Serbia. Another player sits out.
:29:49. > :29:57.May have to make this count. A must score now. They have scored. Sukno
:29:58. > :30:02.gets his second of the game and we are back to a 3-goal game. They had
:30:03. > :30:09.to leave him out of the water, look at that! He had hold of his cap as
:30:10. > :30:13.well. Serbia, you're talking about the size of these men and Sukno puts
:30:14. > :30:19.it in, they left him out for a while because he was on two fouls but they
:30:20. > :30:24.have ten players at 192 centimetres or above, a couple at 202
:30:25. > :30:33.centimetres, so guys who are six foot eight or six hard to stop.
:30:34. > :30:40.Fantastic athleticism shown by these players. We have a time-out, by the
:30:41. > :30:49.way, for Serbia, who, having conceded that goal, looking
:30:50. > :30:55.consolidate their situation. Pavic. The man who, at 34, carried the flag
:30:56. > :30:59.for Croatia, this his third Olympics. It was a 3-goal deficit at
:31:00. > :31:02.half-time and it is still a 3-goal deficit. They need to pull another
:31:03. > :31:08.one back and obviously prevent Serbia from scoring here. Serbia
:31:09. > :31:16.with Filipovic in such dangerous form. He he is again on the ball.
:31:17. > :31:24.Surely he is not going to score from 12 metres, but anything is possible.
:31:25. > :31:31.Turnover foul at centre forward. Nikic gave the ball away. Good call.
:31:32. > :31:38.So a chance here inside the last minute. Can they paid this back to
:31:39. > :31:42.two? Croatia have shown in Flash is why they are the current Olympic
:31:43. > :31:47.champions but at the moment, they are being outmuscled by the
:31:48. > :31:53.Serbians. That is the word for it, outmuscled. That is a poor pass to
:31:54. > :31:57.the centre forward. An easy intercept the keeper. Even if he was
:31:58. > :32:07.being fouled, you are not going to play. You need to play closer to his
:32:08. > :32:13.hand and draw the exclusion. Just 18 seconds left on the clock at the end
:32:14. > :32:20.of the third quarter. He is outside the five. Backhand, thank you.
:32:21. > :32:23.Brilliantly done once again and Batman Mandic has his third of the
:32:24. > :32:28.game. Because it was outside the five, he could shoot so without
:32:29. > :32:35.passing and has done so with devastating consequences -- Batman.
:32:36. > :32:40.It takes confidence and skill to throw that kind of back and in an
:32:41. > :32:44.Olympic gold final. He has seen the defensive player with his hand up
:32:45. > :32:48.and he has sprung a surprise from about six metres and, as you say,
:32:49. > :32:55.fouled outside the five, you can shoot from inside the five without
:32:56. > :32:59.passing. Croatia with the final shot of a half, it clatters against the
:33:00. > :33:04.bar and back into play. The hooter goes to bring us to the three
:33:05. > :33:07.quarters mark of the finals. Some brilliant individual performances
:33:08. > :33:12.from the likes of Mandic and Filipovic but at the three quarters
:33:13. > :33:17.point at the gold-medal match, it is 9-5 to Serbia.
:33:18. > :33:24.It is good stuff, isn't it? I hope you are enjoying get on BBC Four, we
:33:25. > :33:28.will be back for the fourth quarter but it is our final day here back on
:33:29. > :33:34.the beach, I think it is a roundabout time we brought you the
:33:35. > :33:40.headlines from these real Olympics. Nicola Adams has won gold once
:33:41. > :33:46.again. The first boxer in nearly 100 years to retain her title, the same
:33:47. > :33:53.as she did in London four years ago, Olympic gold for Nicola Adams.
:33:54. > :34:01.Liam Heath has won his second medal of the Games and this time it was
:34:02. > :34:04.gold in the men's 200m kayak sprint. There was also a bronze today for
:34:05. > :34:09.Vicky Holland. She claimed that medal in the triathlon, the USA's
:34:10. > :34:17.Gwen Jorgensen so dominant, taking the top medal for the USA.
:34:18. > :34:25.Really sad news the Tom Daley, Hassan Chen of Tyner back of the red
:34:26. > :34:31.China took gold -- Chen Aisen of China took gold but Tom Daley didn't
:34:32. > :34:37.even qualify for the final. And Inbee Park of South Korea is golf's
:34:38. > :34:39.Olympic champion, 16 under par, way clear of the rest. Charley Hull of
:34:40. > :34:51.Team GB was joint seventh. Those are your headlines. We shall
:34:52. > :34:56.read a few more of your messages later on, thank you for all of
:34:57. > :35:01.those. We will definitely miss the beach. I know a lot of you are
:35:02. > :35:04.saying we will -- you will miss this programme and we will miss it as
:35:05. > :35:07.well. Your messages and text messages and comments have been a
:35:08. > :35:12.very special part of that. But we need to get back to the water polo,
:35:13. > :35:16.Croatia are playing Serbia. Final quarter. The winner gets a gold
:35:17. > :35:20.medal. The losers go away with silver, so it is not too bad but
:35:21. > :35:22.gold is what it is all about. Let's return. Our commentators are Mark
:35:23. > :35:34.Tompkins and John Harkin. Serbia attacking the goal to
:35:35. > :35:41.left-hand side in the final quarter. Sedco gets there first. Loses his
:35:42. > :35:53.cap and claims he was being fouled -- Sukno. It is hard to play and
:35:54. > :35:57.referee the game at the same time! Turnover fell by long car, Saudi
:35:58. > :36:08.attack that could have got them a goal has said Serbia going forward.
:36:09. > :36:20.-- by Loncar. Simple goal in the centre. The
:36:21. > :36:24.turnover did cost them. It turned into a classic counterattack goal.
:36:25. > :36:33.One on one here, he wasn't marked properly. They have dropped their
:36:34. > :36:39.heads, Croatia. Let's hope they can keep their discipline for the game.
:36:40. > :36:43.They don't want players excluded, it will mean Serbia can have a chance
:36:44. > :36:49.to pull away even further and make it even more emphatic. The game
:36:50. > :36:55.isn't there at the moment for the Croatians. They need a couple of
:36:56. > :37:01.unanswered goals. Since London 2012, it has always been about Serbia
:37:02. > :37:08.really at the major tournaments. But they have bounced one in to give
:37:09. > :37:13.themselves a little bit of hope, Sukno, who has been their main
:37:14. > :37:21.danger. It has bounced under the centre back's hand and the keeper
:37:22. > :37:24.has seen it very late. So three from 34 Sukno but he has not played the
:37:25. > :37:29.amount of minutes you would like, he has a long time on the bench as a
:37:30. > :37:38.result of those too early major fouls. He has had to use him
:37:39. > :37:47.sparely, even kook ak, and it has probably cost Croatia a little
:37:48. > :37:51.bitch. -- a little bit. Still the four goal lead they started the
:37:52. > :37:58.final period with. One thing you cannot do their is stop and shoot
:37:59. > :38:05.from five metres. You have to shoot in one action. That will give him
:38:06. > :38:13.some confidence coming into the game late. Croatia back on the attack,
:38:14. > :38:22.trying to reduce the deficit back to three. Centre forward's set there.
:38:23. > :38:26.Didn't get the ball any quicker. It was a good, smart foul from the
:38:27. > :38:30.Serbians, ordinary garden variety fell but it enabled them to come
:38:31. > :38:36.back and double marked the centre. -- foul. The crossbar is still
:38:37. > :38:43.nervous. The ball hits the outside of the post.
:38:44. > :38:49.So Serbia back on the offensive, they looked dangerous every time
:38:50. > :39:01.they go forward. He has been caught pushing off. Whistle went.
:39:02. > :39:09.So Croatia need to try and get a couple of goals without reply if
:39:10. > :39:18.they can. Again, there is a turnover, claiming a foul against
:39:19. > :39:22.Krapic but nothing has been given. Again, Ivica Tucak looks at the
:39:23. > :39:28.referee. Can't believe it was given -- wasn't given as a foul and Serbia
:39:29. > :39:34.mount another attack. It was a good bit of work to turn him but anyway,
:39:35. > :39:37.back with the Serbs. There is an offensive foul inside, the Centre
:39:38. > :39:41.forward has gone over the top of the centre back trying to get himself
:39:42. > :39:47.position. Turnover, five minutes left. It is a long way back from
:39:48. > :39:56.here, a four goal margin. They have got to school. -- score. They can't
:39:57. > :40:03.find any space, the Croatians. Serbia defending so well and keeping
:40:04. > :40:05.the zones nice and tight. They are inviting the shot, making it
:40:06. > :40:11.impossible to get into the centre forward. It is a poor pass. They get
:40:12. > :40:16.lucky. They will call a time-out, the Croatians but it was a very poor
:40:17. > :40:23.pass. I don't think he would have got it even if he hadn't have been
:40:24. > :40:30.fouled. Pijetlovic will sit out 20 seconds when the play resumes.
:40:31. > :40:44.Croatia calling the time-out here. Ivica Tucak. They have probably got
:40:45. > :40:48.five, maybe six, but probably five possessions and they are four goals
:40:49. > :40:52.down. They can't let Serbia score again, we know that, but they have
:40:53. > :40:59.to start scoring themselves, right now. It would go to a penalty shoot
:41:00. > :41:04.out if they could get level, no overtime or extra time in water polo
:41:05. > :41:08.anymore. We have seen some dramatic shoot outs in the earlier stages of
:41:09. > :41:12.the competition. You are on your own if there is a penalty shoot out four
:41:13. > :41:19.Olympic gold, I don't think I could stand distressed. I don't think the
:41:20. > :41:25.players could. -- stand the stress. It is a need for positivity now in
:41:26. > :41:28.front of goal from Croatia. They have wasted the opportunity with the
:41:29. > :41:34.extra player once again and Serbia, you can't fault their defence. Been
:41:35. > :41:38.absolutely superb at blocking those shots before they even reach
:41:39. > :41:43.Mitrovic and he is a great last line of defence to have as well. It
:41:44. > :41:48.looked like the channel might have been there. Filipovic is in no real
:41:49. > :41:54.rush, he is smart, he knows they want to waste every second of every
:41:55. > :42:01.possession they get. Hopefully he will score or forced a save.
:42:02. > :42:07.Deflected over. I think it may have come off the head of his Centre
:42:08. > :42:16.forward. Yes, it did. Good shape, it did indeed. He would have felt that,
:42:17. > :42:21.Nikic. He will be concussed! Here come Croatia again, under four
:42:22. > :42:26.minutes to go in the match. They are down probably to four possessions.
:42:27. > :42:30.Is just up and over the top and Croatia having no luck when they
:42:31. > :42:36.needed. Sukno looking for his fourth goal of the game. It wasn't a bad
:42:37. > :42:46.thing, it had to keeper beaten but bounced too high. Again, Filipovic
:42:47. > :42:50.in no rush again. 16th actually just telling his team-mates, calm it
:42:51. > :42:54.down. It is about winning a gold medal, not putting on a performance.
:42:55. > :42:59.They are putting on a performance all the same, Mandic gets his fourth
:43:00. > :43:05.goal of the game and they start to believe now that the gold medal is
:43:06. > :43:14.within their grasp. Again, took it very late in terms of the shot
:43:15. > :43:20.clock. Put them to sleep. That is a great strike, just bounces under the
:43:21. > :43:26.arm. Six of the Serbian goals have come from the left-handers tonight,
:43:27. > :43:30.Mandic and Filipovic. You mentioned the score in a World Championships
:43:31. > :43:34.last year, it is getting to that type of number, five goal margin
:43:35. > :43:40.with two and a half Men it's the play. It was a seven goal margin so
:43:41. > :43:45.you are right, we are looking at a similar margin here, you would feel.
:43:46. > :43:50.Croatia must wonder what they have to do to be the Serbians, becoming a
:43:51. > :43:59.bit of a nemesis, the former Yugoslav partners.
:44:00. > :44:05.Could save Mitrovic again and every save, every block will be greeted
:44:06. > :44:13.with cheers and claps and shouts at the bench. Serbia coming forward
:44:14. > :44:18.again. The keeper is going crazy off-camera at the moment. Mandic is
:44:19. > :44:22.out as well and screaming to his team-mates on the bench. They know
:44:23. > :44:31.they have copies, two and a half minutes to play. The coach, the man
:44:32. > :44:36.who started training at just five years of age, made his league debut
:44:37. > :44:41.when he was just 13 and he looks like having taken charge in 2012, he
:44:42. > :44:49.has guided Serbia to a gold medal. But when he was 13, he was about six
:44:50. > :44:56.foot two. He was a monster. He kept on growing, a big, big man. 400
:44:57. > :45:01.goals, 440 odd Games. Just had a quiet word with Mandic, as if to say
:45:02. > :45:06.you have done your job, those four goals put us in nice shape. There is
:45:07. > :45:12.one back from Garcia but muted in terms of celebration. They have
:45:13. > :45:19.pulled the deficit back to four, in 11-4 in Serbia's favour. This is a
:45:20. > :45:22.bit of a victory lap now for Serbia. Sitting at home, a global audience,
:45:23. > :45:28.wherever you are, you are always hoping for a thriller but it is
:45:29. > :45:31.always pretty good, when you see the team under all the pressure and
:45:32. > :45:37.expected to win come out and perform on the big stage, it is great stuff.
:45:38. > :45:39.The difference with water polo is every time Serbia get the ball, they
:45:40. > :45:50.can run 30 seconds off the clock. You can't play a full press against
:45:51. > :45:52.them, with two minutes to go, if it wasn't two goal difference that
:45:53. > :46:03.Croatians would be pressing them. They know the game is gone. We are
:46:04. > :46:11.going through the motions right now. Have a bit of a ping. Pavic, it has
:46:12. > :46:16.run another 30 seconds off the clock, so just over a minute and a
:46:17. > :46:20.half to go in the gold medal match. There have been some marvellous
:46:21. > :46:25.moments and I'm glad they won buy a lot and the controversial moment in
:46:26. > :46:30.the first period hasn't counted. If they had been down to six men in the
:46:31. > :46:33.entire game it could have. They will have something to say about that
:46:34. > :46:38.because it could have been a massive turning point in the first quarter
:46:39. > :46:42.of the final. He's still moaning about the turnover decision. Had it
:46:43. > :46:46.been seen he would have been kicked out, but you can't ask the referee
:46:47. > :46:53.is to make a decision on something they don't see.
:46:54. > :47:00.So the celebrations will start very soon on the Serbian bench. Dejan
:47:01. > :47:04.Savic might find himself in the water as well, he might do well to
:47:05. > :47:10.dispense a very valuable since his pocket. Get rid of the mobile phone,
:47:11. > :47:16.get it out. Croatia, who won the gold in London, not for the first
:47:17. > :47:22.time since I going to come up short against the Serbs. There will be a
:47:23. > :47:29.late exclusion for Stefan Mitrovic. Just 30 odd seconds left to go on
:47:30. > :47:34.the game though. Is there one more goal in this for Croatia, just add a
:47:35. > :47:39.bit of respectability to the scoreline? It's Garcia. Again, it's
:47:40. > :47:43.saved by Branislav Mitrovic. And now they can celebrate. There's 18
:47:44. > :47:49.seconds to go, they are hugging on the bench already. Serbia are going
:47:50. > :47:57.to win the gold medal at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Just the final
:47:58. > :48:02.few seconds. A brilliant tournament, and they have come up with a big
:48:03. > :48:07.performance when it mattered, as the hooter goes, and they are all in the
:48:08. > :48:13.water. Dejan Savic is in the water, no, it's one of the coaches, Dejan
:48:14. > :48:20.Savic might find him in a minute. What a performance by Serbia.
:48:21. > :48:25.Mitrovic the goalkeeper played his part. It Serbia, the gold medal
:48:26. > :48:33.winners, the full-time score, Croatia seven, Serbia 11.
:48:34. > :48:37.STUDIO: Absolutely brilliant stuff, just a
:48:38. > :48:41.reminder, that is what it's all about, quite a few people asking
:48:42. > :48:45.about watching water polo for the first time, about the things they
:48:46. > :48:50.put over their ears, it's to protect their areas because it is a violent
:48:51. > :48:54.sport. Croatia were aiming for back-to-back gold medals, they were
:48:55. > :48:58.the favourites. The Serbians were desperate for Olympic gold. They've
:48:59. > :49:03.done it. I hope you enjoyed that. That's the first time you've ever
:49:04. > :49:06.watched water polo, it's a fantastic sport to watch and they have
:49:07. > :49:14.produced a gold medal winning performance and its Serbia who take
:49:15. > :49:17.the title here in Rio. Croatians, who know what it's like to be
:49:18. > :49:23.Olympic cup champions, will have to make do with the silver medal. It's
:49:24. > :49:30.safe to say that's probably the last speedos we will see on BBC Four. He
:49:31. > :49:36.was very happy as well, wasn't he? Right, listen, we are here, sorry, I
:49:37. > :49:40.sound a bit rude there, listen! We are here and told to weigh in the
:49:41. > :49:48.morning. One of the things we have coming up a bit later on is two
:49:49. > :49:56.bronze medal matches for tae kwon do British athletes, Bianca Walkden and
:49:57. > :50:03.Mahama Cho. At 1:30am Mo Farah will be running his 5000 metres to try to
:50:04. > :50:07.add to the 10,000 metres he has already won won, that will be on BBC
:50:08. > :50:11.One. Lots of people asking about the best bits thing. The editor says he
:50:12. > :50:17.will promise to run it at the end, is that a promise? You might do. RU
:50:18. > :50:26.going to do it, or not? He will do it, he will do it again. Oh, OK, or
:50:27. > :50:31.we might run Maria. We will run one of them, either Maria or the best
:50:32. > :50:34.bits, and BBC sport will try to put them out as well because bizarrely
:50:35. > :50:38.quite a few of you would like to watch it, which is very nice of you.
:50:39. > :50:42.We are going to take you, we watched water polo, but volleyball has been
:50:43. > :50:46.something else which you have really enjoyed over the last few days. This
:50:47. > :50:51.is the women's volleyball gold medal match taking place later, China
:50:52. > :50:56.against Serbia again, we will show you the bronze medal match which
:50:57. > :51:00.took place earlier, this is the USA, they lost in their semifinal, taking
:51:01. > :51:04.on the Netherlands. It was a very tight first set. We are going to
:51:05. > :51:09.join it at the start of the second set. Best of five, remember, Clayton
:51:10. > :51:11.Lucas and Britt Park of all other commentators. Time for some
:51:12. > :51:32.volleyball on BBC Four. The ball is too tight to the net,
:51:33. > :51:35.and unforced error. Another reception is quite shallow on this,
:51:36. > :51:42.I don't know if they're trying to take balls over hand and serve
:51:43. > :51:47.reception, or if they are just... Challenging that, but... They are
:51:48. > :51:50.totally set up for an overhand serve receive, yet they didn't try to move
:51:51. > :51:55.backwards and pass the ball and they are completely out of position. If
:51:56. > :52:01.that's what they want to do, then as you have pointed out they need to be
:52:02. > :52:05.a lot deeper, if they are going to underhand pass, it is they are in
:52:06. > :52:07.the right place for a volley get the are trying to underhand pass the
:52:08. > :52:13.ball. It doesn't make sense right now. We Getty has told them to
:52:14. > :52:23.volley it. That's good from Petersen, not good control. Is a
:52:24. > :52:29.good swing for a bump set, it makes for a different ball when the set
:52:30. > :52:31.has to set a ball underhand opposed up overhand. A great swing to get
:52:32. > :52:45.them out of that. I was almost Vero tempo from Rachel
:52:46. > :52:53.Adams, as the bench goes through their point winning dance routine.
:52:54. > :52:56.-- Vero tempo. Rachel Adams just scorches balls, she's incredibly
:52:57. > :53:04.athletic as I mentioned time and time again. It's slow fun to see an
:53:05. > :53:08.energy like that, she brings great energy and she's been out there,
:53:09. > :53:12.ride or die delivering night in and night out. Plays her volleyball in
:53:13. > :53:23.Italy. One of the top leagues in
:53:24. > :53:28.professional volleyball. Along with Turkey and also Russia. Quite a few
:53:29. > :53:36.of the Netherlands players play their volleyball in Turkey. That one
:53:37. > :54:04.not quite making it over. Kimberly Hill puts that one down.
:54:05. > :54:07.She knows quite a few of the Dutch players all too well, being
:54:08. > :54:16.team-mates with some of them in Istanbul. They know what threat she
:54:17. > :54:28.is. This is a very good start from the
:54:29. > :54:32.USA, they are putting pressure on the Netherlands service, who are not
:54:33. > :54:37.able to get in attacks, relying on big hits through the outside. That
:54:38. > :54:58.continues to put pressure on, that one has gone through the arms.
:54:59. > :55:05.Another error from the US, they were looking pretty good in this second
:55:06. > :55:08.set. It's Netherlands to bounce back, it seems there's quite a lot
:55:09. > :55:27.of fragility on both sides of the net.
:55:28. > :55:38.Well, that was brilliant, absolutely brilliant. If the Americans have a
:55:39. > :55:45.chance to feed the middle, it would be good to do it, and do it often.
:55:46. > :55:51.That was some hit but also what a set from Glass as well, pivoting on
:55:52. > :55:57.a sixpence. A great ball in to make it all happen. Passing is key. That
:55:58. > :56:05.one is dropped like a stone, right on to the baseline.
:56:06. > :56:18.It looked to be going way out. It's landed way in.
:56:19. > :56:54.Good ally buy the line judge. -- a good I buy the line judge.
:56:55. > :57:02.Again, it's relying on malevolence going wide. They've had no middle
:57:03. > :57:06.attack so far in the second set. -- it's relying on the Netherlands
:57:07. > :57:21.going wide. Very few in the first either.
:57:22. > :57:30.Dijkema aces the USA. Like a harmless float serve, Hills let it
:57:31. > :57:35.go. Interesting body language by Murphy, she knew it was in and ran
:57:36. > :57:39.out of the way. That's her responsibility to call that ball in
:57:40. > :57:48.or out, either you talk somebody into it, or if you know, you go. Are
:57:49. > :57:54.you in favour of passing unit only responsible for calling ball in out,
:57:55. > :57:56.letting them deal with it, or having someone for example your opposite
:57:57. > :58:00.players who are moving and running around and not necessarily getting
:58:01. > :58:06.the whole ball flight helping out and calling whether it is on out?
:58:07. > :58:12.Good question. There's layers to it. Your main passing responsibility
:58:13. > :58:14.row, it's important for them to talk that through, but you don't want to
:58:15. > :58:31.dodge ball the tin. Larson has done an incredible job
:58:32. > :58:36.this match, she has really created and established the presence of the
:58:37. > :58:39.ball control player. She's really stepped up and had her presence be
:58:40. > :58:52.known. More trouble here for the
:58:53. > :58:59.Netherlands and the USA now open up the two point lead. We just see how
:59:00. > :59:03.important the first parties -- passes but also how important a good
:59:04. > :59:08.serve is, not only saying I'm going to hit the ball as hard as I can,
:59:09. > :59:12.that's one strategy, but also the tactical serving of where you put
:59:13. > :59:18.the ball on the court makes a huge difference as well. It's important
:59:19. > :59:23.to have all different styles of serving within the same team. You
:59:24. > :59:29.have a tactical float server, you will have a powered jump stops --
:59:30. > :59:32.topspin server, a lot of athletes have created these hybrids are nasty
:59:33. > :59:37.to try to pass. It looks like a float, has a bit of spin to it, so
:59:38. > :59:42.to have all those different options and threats constantly keeps the
:59:43. > :59:49.serve reception off balance and not comfortable going float serve, float
:59:50. > :59:53.serve, float, serve, you get into a rhythm, you get into a groove but if
:59:54. > :59:59.you have to deal with the heavy jumps, jump stops bin and then a
:00:00. > :00:05.float serve you are always having to adjust your strength and platform
:00:06. > :00:17.accordingly. 50 jump serves, or 50 float serves, which would you rather
:00:18. > :00:27.pass? in a probably 50 jump serves. -- probably 50 jump serves. The
:00:28. > :00:31.float can get squirrely. Requires a lot of discipline, especially within
:00:32. > :00:36.the last metre that that ball gets upon you, to track it all the way
:00:37. > :00:41.in. Sometimes jump serve, it is heavy but because of the spin, you
:00:42. > :00:48.can the spin and now there are coloured balls, you can predict some
:00:49. > :00:53.spin and see it. You are able to just present a platform and create a
:00:54. > :00:57.backboard for it. Float serve, you have to do a lot of the work because
:00:58. > :01:04.as it bounces, you have got dance with it. It is the USA who are
:01:05. > :01:16.dancing right now as they have a 3-point lead.
:01:17. > :01:23.Balkestein-Grothues has come in but unable to do anything with her first
:01:24. > :01:31.effort. Sloetjes, ever reliable, getting the block out. Stoltenborg
:01:32. > :01:34.is coming in. A bit of extra height in the front row. It is a direct
:01:35. > :01:48.replacement, set for setter. Good serve, although it did look as
:01:49. > :01:55.if Hill failed to make any movement at all to adjust to that float
:01:56. > :01:56.serve. It got on her pretty quick, those arms were just a little bit
:01:57. > :02:12.late. She did a great job they're getting
:02:13. > :02:17.the platform out away from her little bit sooner and it created a
:02:18. > :02:31.perfect pass. Felicio Blasse have all three options, if not more, in
:02:32. > :02:34.that situation -- Alicia Glass. Sometimes, it can give you
:02:35. > :02:41.anticipation, you consider platform the ball will ricochet off of, but
:02:42. > :02:44.if it is late, there is a bit of a surprise factor. So the earlier
:02:45. > :02:50.setter can see a platform, for whatever reason, it really helps for
:02:51. > :02:53.the optics. For those of you thinking about your passing
:02:54. > :02:57.platforms, ask yourself, do you swing your arms at the ball or do
:02:58. > :03:02.you move your legs and keep your platform is solid. Based on what we
:03:03. > :03:06.have been talking about, which one is a set are more likely to
:03:07. > :03:09.appreciate in terms of which direction the ball will going. If
:03:10. > :03:15.you ask a setter, they will say don't swing your arms. They want to
:03:16. > :03:20.see where that ball is coming within half a metre or so, which makes a
:03:21. > :03:24.massive difference. That is lovely swing from de Kruijf, over the top
:03:25. > :04:20.of Hill. Brilliantly emphasised by the super slow mode.
:04:21. > :04:27.It is getting better and better for the USA. However, they were in this
:04:28. > :04:30.position in the first set, up by four. They were pinned back to 17
:04:31. > :04:47.all. The coach calling a time-out. One metre over the net, nobody's
:04:48. > :04:56.moving. OK? I don't see any air shots. Let's go.
:04:57. > :05:03.Interesting comments from Guidetti. Sometimes you have to put your boots
:05:04. > :05:08.on the ground. Sometimes it is difficult to go, OK, we have to play
:05:09. > :05:13.the number one team in a world for a bronze medal, what are our chances.
:05:14. > :05:18.Just little reminder sly, they are human too, it is not like they are
:05:19. > :05:24.playing out of their minds. They are not sky-high right now. Make the
:05:25. > :05:28.right call on the in out balls. Just tighten it up on their side of the
:05:29. > :05:37.net. And sometimes that just keeps everybody mortal. The first job is
:05:38. > :05:42.done, the Netherlands get their side out on the back of the time-out.
:05:43. > :05:51.Robinson comes in for more passing and defensive duties. He'll will go
:05:52. > :05:55.for a sit down. -- Hill. Robinson has done a great job within her
:05:56. > :06:02.role, checking in and delivering passes like that. She has been dimes
:06:03. > :06:07.this entire tournament and knowing her role, accepting her role, and
:06:08. > :06:13.stepping in with great energy. We saw her in the semifinal match get
:06:14. > :06:19.the started later in the match. She didn't start... You know, I later
:06:20. > :06:22.couple of the sets, but delivered, delivered, delivered for team USA,
:06:23. > :06:28.and with a great attitude, and that is what you need. The theme for USA
:06:29. > :06:41.is all in and we are better together. She didn't start the
:06:42. > :06:52.match, but trying to get her team back into this one. They need to
:06:53. > :06:54.find something soon, they could be 2-0 down, there is no room for
:06:55. > :07:21.error, no freebies allowed. Both teams are doing pretty well at
:07:22. > :07:33.going block out and exposing the outside blockers by the pins.
:07:34. > :07:36.Balkestein-Grothues goes off and Pietersen replaces her. More height
:07:37. > :07:58.and power in the front row. The bench desperate for the team to
:07:59. > :08:00.do well. This is a great pick-up. And then a great finish from
:08:01. > :08:38.Pietersen. Is important to get the right
:08:39. > :08:44.balance of information to players. It could be one or two points
:08:45. > :08:50.brothers ba, but not overloading them going back onto the court. --
:08:51. > :08:56.for others. The coach discusses offence and the attack. Assistant
:08:57. > :09:05.coach discusses defence, how to stop them. And it is nice, because you
:09:06. > :09:11.are in transition so much from fence to de-fence, fence to the fence,
:09:12. > :09:14.that you kind of have is very distinct voices whether you are in
:09:15. > :09:19.one or the other -- are fence to defence.
:09:20. > :09:32.The Netherlands creep back in to within one.
:09:33. > :09:46.Free ball. And that one has hit the antenna. Great gig from Robinson.
:09:47. > :09:51.Robinson also got that covered, she was in the right position and she
:09:52. > :10:00.salvaged that play. Just adds that extra bit of pressure, Sloetjes also
:10:01. > :10:04.hit the antenna, so a double whammy about how she will feel about that
:10:05. > :10:08.play. You have to be real sharp going up against an American block.
:10:09. > :10:16.They are sealing things up. Doing their job.
:10:17. > :10:23.Nice play from Pietersen. This time getting it off the block and away.
:10:24. > :10:27.The USA spent an awful lot of time working on their block defence in
:10:28. > :10:34.the run-up to the Olympic Games and you have two credit that to the
:10:35. > :10:38.coach, when he played in 1984, the USA had a very distinct style of
:10:39. > :10:43.defence, played half a metre in from the net and took all teams on and
:10:44. > :10:47.the block defence was one of the key factors for their two gold medals.
:10:48. > :10:52.Almost a bit of a change of in the way we saw men's volleyball being
:10:53. > :10:58.played from the US. Using all that experience and bringing that to the
:10:59. > :11:03.fore with the women's team. Now the USA will be feeling a lot better
:11:04. > :11:04.with the way things are going in this set, particularly with that
:11:05. > :11:22.celebration from the bench. Looking at the two different
:11:23. > :11:27.pictures, slight frustration for the US, but OK, that is fine, and then
:11:28. > :11:32.the whole hanging on, that bit of hope that we can get back in this
:11:33. > :11:42.from the Netherlands. Well watched by Alicia Glass. Jordan Larsson
:11:43. > :11:46.scored that point, in the right spot at the right time and taking
:11:47. > :11:54.authority on broken place. It is nice to see that from a player. She
:11:55. > :11:58.calms the whole court, when Alicia Glass takes that great pass off of
:11:59. > :12:09.awareness and put up such a hittable ball. Larsson is the anchor right
:12:10. > :12:16.now for team USA. Good hit of the block from Banwarth, but not
:12:17. > :12:21.everyone was linking into the play. Kelly not LinkedIn, not able to back
:12:22. > :12:28.it up. So a fortuitous side out for the Netherlands. Still one behind.
:12:29. > :12:36.Pietersen with the serve, the USA looking for side out.
:12:37. > :12:48.That is really good covering. But no stopping Sloetjes and it is level.
:12:49. > :12:58.The Dutch fans going wild, the USA ball didn't come back.
:12:59. > :13:14.USA call time-out. As we come out of the time-out, talk Talisa. We have
:13:15. > :13:18.been playing volleyball a long time to play in a great battles like
:13:19. > :13:24.this. I like the way they responded and now is our chance to respond to
:13:25. > :13:30.a good angle. A hard approach and a good swing. High edges at about
:13:31. > :13:37.time-out. Two good targets in 11 and eight, get after one of them. Really
:13:38. > :13:41.good to see some specific pertinent information being given to Jordan
:13:42. > :13:47.Larsson away from the this is a good battle. She has been given some very
:13:48. > :13:48.good specifics about what is going to come and what will happen and
:13:49. > :14:12.what to do. Great call. Great call. Guidetti can
:14:13. > :14:16.moan and whinge all he likes but that is a set that should have been
:14:17. > :14:21.going in that straight line and you can see the check and readjustment
:14:22. > :14:25.from the spike, no, it wasn't a great set. He is not happy about the
:14:26. > :14:31.double touch call, but it is going to get him into trouble here.
:14:32. > :14:51.That is a big block by Stoltenborg on Jordan Larsson and now it is
:14:52. > :14:58.level again. But still, though, despite that, it is advantage USA.
:14:59. > :15:02.They are siding out to have a set point.
:15:03. > :15:11.Good ball in. And a quick ball out wide. Larsson beats the block, beat
:15:12. > :15:20.the defence and it is set point for the USA. It is great to see the game
:15:21. > :15:24.developer from... If you can watch set from the baseline and see both
:15:25. > :15:45.sides of the court, you appreciate how quickly that ball moves.
:15:46. > :15:53.Both coaches speaking English. Guidetti's not as first language,
:15:54. > :15:58.but being Italian, the fast pace of what he's trying to say is you
:15:59. > :16:03.compared that to Karch Kiraly, who is almost in slow motion, making
:16:04. > :16:08.sure the messages clear, understood, and giving it time to sink in.
:16:09. > :16:12.Guidetti is like let's go, let's go, almost over egging it. You've got to
:16:13. > :16:22.trust these guys know their teams extremely well. Step on the gas and
:16:23. > :16:27.when to pull them back, went to calm them down and went to rest them up.
:16:28. > :16:32.He knows his team extremely, extremely well. It's a game of
:16:33. > :16:38.angles, creating angles, taking angles away and those angles are
:16:39. > :16:44.ever changing. So, so important. The information that he was giving his
:16:45. > :16:51.squad. Wow that was impressive because it was a really good dig by
:16:52. > :16:56.Stam-Pilon and you expected Sloetjes to put it away but what time for the
:16:57. > :17:04.USA to give themselves a second point. You get the feeling of the
:17:05. > :17:11.USA take this one, we may well not be -- there may well not be a way
:17:12. > :17:16.back for the Netherlands. That was landed in. It was a long look for
:17:17. > :17:23.the USA team as the ball went to the sideline. It's all square again. At
:17:24. > :17:28.the moment the Netherlands have yet to engineer a set point, it's still
:17:29. > :17:39.the USA and control. As long as they can keep sliding out they can keep
:17:40. > :17:43.putting pressure on. A good dig, a great swing from Pietersen. Now they
:17:44. > :17:48.have engineered a set point, 26-25 to the Netherlands. The pressure
:17:49. > :18:07.swings back now to the USA. Oh, they've done it! First time of
:18:08. > :18:15.asking, would you believe it, a serve from the Netherlands. They set
:18:16. > :18:20.-- take set two 27-25. It's very much game on here, it's one set all.
:18:21. > :18:23.STUDIO: So that's 1-1. We shall be back
:18:24. > :18:28.there very shortly to continue our coverage of bit of volleyball but
:18:29. > :18:33.just to let you know, if you've been watching BBC Four for the last few
:18:34. > :18:37.hours, absolute madness up and down here on Copacabana a few moments ago
:18:38. > :18:42.because Brazil have just won the gold medal match in the football, it
:18:43. > :18:46.was on BBC One. It went to penalties against Germany and Neymar was the
:18:47. > :18:50.golden boy who got the golden goal, I suppose, to give them is a gold
:18:51. > :18:55.medal and loads of people, there's a bar just behind the sand castle here
:18:56. > :19:03.of my left shoulder, that side, can we see that, you can't see it? OK,
:19:04. > :19:09.there's a bar there and they all ran right across into the sea. She's
:19:10. > :19:14.celebrating down there, look at her! Look at this for a dance. That is
:19:15. > :19:23.how it's done, the fellow behind her, what's he talking about? Oh, I
:19:24. > :19:32.bet he's British! He's got a cup of tea. Do you want to come on? I
:19:33. > :19:37.reckon she might speak English. We'll get her on we'll find out some
:19:38. > :19:42.reaction from these Brazilians, shall we, about winning the gold
:19:43. > :19:46.medal match. We're going to go back to the volleyball a bit later on.
:19:47. > :19:50.You are sending loads of texts and tweets, which is lovely, but most of
:19:51. > :19:53.them are saying how much you are enjoying things so we're not going
:19:54. > :19:56.to go all Steve Wright and say isn't a brilliant but the fact you are
:19:57. > :20:01.appreciating things is very nice, just clearing the desk, just
:20:02. > :20:07.clearing the desk. Bought this earlier on, if my wife is watching,
:20:08. > :20:13.that could have been horrendous, this is what you are getting when
:20:14. > :20:16.you get home, I don't know why I put on a Yorkshire accent! Are they
:20:17. > :20:22.coming in? Have they gone? They are coming in. I don't know who these
:20:23. > :20:26.people are. It's another one of those situations that could go
:20:27. > :20:32.horribly wrong, but we quite enjoy that on BBC Four. Hello. You live on
:20:33. > :20:45.the BBC. Good evening, nice see you. This is my wife. Hello, nice to see
:20:46. > :20:50.you. Sonia. Gary. Gary and Sagna. Sonia, we are just talking about the
:20:51. > :20:54.fact that Brazil have won the Olympic gold medal so talk us
:20:55. > :20:58.through it, why is it so important? We saw you dancing, the smile on
:20:59. > :21:06.your face is lovely. Yes, first because it's Germany, isn't it, and
:21:07. > :21:12.we lost... 7-1 in the World Cup. Don't mention it! We were afraid
:21:13. > :21:16.because we were at the Maracana as well, so the staging was a bit
:21:17. > :21:22.scary, but we won! Would you like to see the winning penalty again? We
:21:23. > :21:25.will show everybody at home. Mrs Neymar's winning penalty. Germany
:21:26. > :21:33.dismissed there, the golden boy steps up. Wow! Wonderful! Look at
:21:34. > :21:38.these scenes, Sonia. The Maracana was packed. There have been gold
:21:39. > :21:43.medals in other sports but football is king here, isn't it? This is the
:21:44. > :21:49.one Brazil needed to win. Yes! They've been chasing it for like 50
:21:50. > :21:53.years. Never won Olympic gold in the football. It's always been really
:21:54. > :21:58.important for them come finally they've managed to do it at home,
:21:59. > :22:01.which is great. Sonia, every Brazilian, every local, we'd love to
:22:02. > :22:05.get your reaction to the Olympics generally. I imagine it's tempered
:22:06. > :22:09.slightly by what has happened in the last few minutes but overall how do
:22:10. > :22:14.you think you will look back on these Olympic Games? We're in the
:22:15. > :22:18.final weekend now. For others it was a great experience, a great
:22:19. > :22:22.opportunity to get some knowledge about what the Olympic spirit is
:22:23. > :22:28.because we don't have this knowledge that you guys all around the world
:22:29. > :22:32.have so I think that was a good present that the country, all the
:22:33. > :22:37.world has given to our country, so now we have a bit of the Olympic
:22:38. > :22:42.spirits. What's the English view of these Rio games from you, Gary? It's
:22:43. > :22:46.been good, it's been surprisingly good, really. I've lived in Brazil
:22:47. > :22:49.now for 24 years and I don't know that much about the Olympics and
:22:50. > :22:52.athletics and stuff, but I think they've learned a lot and
:22:53. > :22:56.participation has been good. The people have really got behind it,
:22:57. > :23:00.which is great. Hopefully it will leave a legacy and they will carry
:23:01. > :23:12.on. Genuinely, do you think because the football, there was so much
:23:13. > :23:16.pressure on that team to perform, now that has been done do you think
:23:17. > :23:18.it will help people to embrace the Olympics hero little? I think so,
:23:19. > :23:23.totally, I guess. Yes. Look at that smile! I was in Rio for the World
:23:24. > :23:26.Cup, when it was at its height and Brazil were winning games and doing
:23:27. > :23:34.incredibly well. I was also here at the other end of Copacabana when the
:23:35. > :23:39.Brazil game was lost, to Germany, by 7-1. It poured down, monsoon rain,
:23:40. > :23:45.and the Brazilians were not happy. What's going to happen in result
:23:46. > :23:52.tonight? A big party, a big party, let's go! I have to stay on the
:23:53. > :23:57.tally. We came to say goodbye to you, we have been seeing you, we are
:23:58. > :24:03.big fans of you. We came here to say goodbye and tell you to come back,
:24:04. > :24:11.you have to come back. People on BBC Four runner going to think... Is
:24:12. > :24:16.very weird because here in Brazil... Maria's dad came here. Her dad and
:24:17. > :24:23.mum came here. Her mum and then they travelled. The thing has been weird.
:24:24. > :24:27.It's got a bit of traction in the UK but in Brazil the whole Maria thing
:24:28. > :24:31.has been a big story! Sometimes I walk down the street and people are
:24:32. > :24:35.laughing at me, saying that's the Maria man. In Brazil it has been in
:24:36. > :24:41.the papers, on the television, and she's a big star now, isn't she? She
:24:42. > :24:48.is, and her family as well. Isn't it? Listen, it's been great to have
:24:49. > :24:52.UN, Sonia and Gary, thank you much. We said a cup of tea, it's not
:24:53. > :24:56.actually a cup of tea. Go and enjoy the rest of your evening, thank you
:24:57. > :25:01.so much. Lovely to see you. Good luck. Lovely to see you both. We are
:25:02. > :25:06.waiting for you to come back here. Thank you for applying a bit more
:25:07. > :25:13.pressure. Goodbye. Goodbye. Excellent. It's going from stranger
:25:14. > :25:19.to stranger this BBC Four programme. In about half an hour time we will
:25:20. > :25:23.have the taekwondo bronze medal matches, live, then Mo Farah on BBC
:25:24. > :25:27.One will be raising for his 5000 metres. But we will rejoin the
:25:28. > :25:33.volleyball. This is the bonds medal match, so we left it at 1-1. The
:25:34. > :25:38.United States won the third set so we will rejoin it with them 2-1 up,
:25:39. > :25:43.it's best of five. The Netherlands have to win this next set to keep
:25:44. > :25:47.the game going. 2-1 to the USA, best of five, the volleyball bronze medal
:25:48. > :25:49.much. Lovely to have Sonia and Gary on and we shall return to the
:25:50. > :25:58.volleyball. COMMENTATOR:
:25:59. > :26:03.The fourth set, the USA serving. It's a must win set for the
:26:04. > :26:11.Netherlands. That one doesn't make it back in. Quinta Steenbergen has
:26:12. > :26:15.come in, the first swing for her was a good one. Stoltenborg keeps her
:26:16. > :26:26.place on court for the Netherlands. No place for Dijkema. A good leave
:26:27. > :26:31.by Anne Buijs. The Netherlands making plenty of changes, whereas
:26:32. > :26:41.it's the same line-up for the USA. Steven Burke back for her first
:26:42. > :26:43.serve. -- Steenbergen. Karsta Lowe has replaced Kelly Murphy, the only
:26:44. > :26:56.difference for the United States. Lowe has created that fifth gear for
:26:57. > :27:01.the Americans that they have needed down the stretch. Good recognition
:27:02. > :27:08.by Karch to make that switch before it became an issue of knowing that
:27:09. > :27:31.she's kind of that breath of fresh air and just that extra energy.
:27:32. > :27:38.Karsta Lowe, going back to serve along with Carli Lloyd, two of the
:27:39. > :27:42.least experienced players for the USA team. Karsta Lowe just 34
:27:43. > :27:46.international caps, Carli Lloyd just 32, really coming into this team
:27:47. > :27:55.late on in the day in this Olympic cycle but making a huge impact.
:27:56. > :28:00.Again -- against Serbia she did an incredible job. Lowe did by coming
:28:01. > :28:03.in and giving them that extra Ops. She was unstoppable. She made Serbia
:28:04. > :28:18.really have to work for it. So the USA edge in front. In what we
:28:19. > :28:28.can expect to be another nail-biting set.
:28:29. > :28:37.That put under pressure. A free ball here for the USA. Larson slowed
:28:38. > :28:45.down. Good play from Larson, taking her hands out of the way. That spin
:28:46. > :28:50.to the line doesn't work, off the block. The Netherlands believe it
:28:51. > :28:55.is, the referee says no. Is there going to be a challenge? It will
:28:56. > :29:08.have to be quick. It looks like there is going to be a challenge.
:29:09. > :29:22.It doesn't looked like it has caught Glass. The cameras will be able to
:29:23. > :29:30.tell unequivocally whether or not it did catch her for arm.
:29:31. > :29:40.Guidetti's view will be the same on a monitor that we are having a look
:29:41. > :29:59.at. It is rejected. So USA lead by two.
:30:00. > :30:15.First time we've seen Sloetjes have her hit in regulation, and the ball
:30:16. > :30:20.go on the floor. Larson even got a little bit, she didn't make it in
:30:21. > :30:25.for the triple block. Both teams trying to find a bit of rhythm, not
:30:26. > :30:34.so many rallies at the moment. The first phase is working for both.
:30:35. > :30:48.Everybody adjusting, tweaking it just a little bit. I
:30:49. > :30:55.Larson got in on that one and it creates a different result. Very
:30:56. > :30:59.difficult for the block to stay with their hitter and making back in time
:31:00. > :31:12.to help out on the pipe, because those pipes are fast. The USA have
:31:13. > :31:17.opened up the lead. Guidetti not happened with the distribution of
:31:18. > :31:23.Stoltenborg. Excellent play from Alicia Glass, Stoltenberg had head
:31:24. > :31:29.over her position. Steenburgen has got the entire length of the court
:31:30. > :31:38.to run to get into position, couldn't help out. She had to go
:31:39. > :31:47.coast-to-coast and Larson making it all the way coast-to-coast and shut
:31:48. > :32:07.them down. Netherlands think there was a net touch.
:32:08. > :32:11.So no more challenges left for the Netherlands. They burned those
:32:12. > :32:34.early. Good deed. Looking for block out but
:32:35. > :32:44.not finding it. A rice mile as the bluff didn't play-off. Knowing that
:32:45. > :32:49.was her best option in that play, what a good pool of the hands.
:32:50. > :32:57.Recognising that she was just looking for something. That is a
:32:58. > :33:09.fantastic block from Steenburgen, cast alone, one-on-one. The USA's
:33:10. > :33:15.footwork around the centre had ripped the Netherlands apart and
:33:16. > :33:21.that is an error from Lowe. I love to see off-speed stuff and the
:33:22. > :33:24.wisdom that Larson brings to the table is wonderful for team USA,
:33:25. > :33:31.knowing that you don't have to just blast away, blast away and block
:33:32. > :33:35.every time. Yes, they have been scoring a lot of points off the
:33:36. > :33:41.Netherlands block but for her to be able to chop down the line and avoid
:33:42. > :33:46.the block, it creates a whole other worry for the Netherlands. It must
:33:47. > :33:51.be getting a little bit worrying now for the Netherlands. The USA are
:33:52. > :33:58.looking more competent, stronger, the block inspiring. It has been
:33:59. > :34:01.vital that the Netherlands stay with the USA and get their side active.
:34:02. > :34:34.It is not happening. Well, the USA right now are very
:34:35. > :34:38.much having their moment. You could say they are making hay while the
:34:39. > :34:44.sun shines. It is shining brightly on them here. Four points up, the
:34:45. > :35:00.Netherlands with no challenges, time outs being used.
:35:01. > :35:15.And again, Hill. But the ball to close for the net and Lowe was ready
:35:16. > :35:24.to have a swing. Keeping it off the floor, nice rally. Larson overplayed
:35:25. > :35:28.that just a bit. You want to give your hitter the best option. Just
:35:29. > :35:49.wrapped it. Larsson goes back, Hill comes in.
:35:50. > :35:56.Very different style. Uses her height well, doesn't have the range
:35:57. > :36:03.shot that Larson has. Brilliant, really cricket. Steenburgen has done
:36:04. > :36:08.a great job since coming in. When you know and you know and you know
:36:09. > :36:10.that that ball has gone for a kill, you can start that yell a little bit
:36:11. > :36:26.early. Brilliant angle. That is what Lowe
:36:27. > :36:34.brings to the party, she is one of the best hitters of the ball.
:36:35. > :36:40.Murphy, the starting opposite is 6-2 lefty and then they just reload.
:36:41. > :36:48.Going higher and harder. It is getting better and better for the
:36:49. > :36:53.USA. Thatcher sums it up, really. Rachel Adams, after making that the
:36:54. > :36:59.serve, celebration and then turns around and just tries to refocus
:37:00. > :37:09.herself. Get back into the zone. Ghetto Freeserve routine ready.
:37:10. > :37:27.-- get her pre-serve routine ready. Good blocking by Sloetjes. Well back
:37:28. > :37:41.by Alicia Glass. And another quality swing by Lowe. Man alive. Once
:37:42. > :37:44.again, Larson with the perfect sets to create that opportunity and it is
:37:45. > :38:01.our last time-out for the Netherlands.
:38:02. > :38:06.They are defending and receiving, we have stopped defend and receive. Go,
:38:07. > :38:34.go, go. Adams once again with the serve.
:38:35. > :38:38.That is a good deed. It won't come back, though. Just a huge hit from
:38:39. > :38:49.Sloetjes. It wasn't as if she was really
:38:50. > :38:57.driving her hips threw the ball, it was more of a step up and then
:38:58. > :39:01.unloading on the ball. We see in the men's game, the players really
:39:02. > :39:06.driving through, using all of their body weight into the ball to
:39:07. > :39:11.generate that extra power. Not quite the same per some of the women's
:39:12. > :39:19.players, but even so, again, that is a classic example, driving through
:39:20. > :39:27.and unloading onto the floor. Using the momentum of the jump, putting
:39:28. > :39:32.the whole body into that. To be able to have so many different options,
:39:33. > :39:37.if you are kind of stuck and you don't have that large of a runway or
:39:38. > :39:43.broad jump capacity, to just be able to go high and snappy and really
:39:44. > :39:49.with it, sometimes it doesn't have to be hard, it just has to be fast.
:39:50. > :40:12.Focus from Murphy, who has replaced low. Big swing from Plak. One of the
:40:13. > :40:15.most ungainly actions I think I have seen for a while. Sometimes you see
:40:16. > :40:21.a player with an extra movement with the hand before they go through the
:40:22. > :40:26.ball. Plak has got an extra movement in her right leg before she engages
:40:27. > :40:36.with the ball. She has got a very heavy arm.
:40:37. > :40:44.Joints are always being put to the test, slight hyper extensions,
:40:45. > :40:51.shoulders, you see table on some of the athletes' shoulders, and
:40:52. > :40:55.incredibly mobile joint of the body, the care and the strength and the
:40:56. > :40:59.flexibility is just imperative for all of these athletes and those
:41:00. > :41:10.joints get put to the test. Time-out called by the USA. In transition
:41:11. > :41:51.let's all be good. Get two or three Marcus up, that is a big help.
:41:52. > :42:02.If wow. She is athletic. Never ceases to impress when you see her
:42:03. > :42:06.go on that slide behind. The ability to hit the ball on the top of her
:42:07. > :42:23.jump or, in that case, on the way up. She seems pretty healthy.
:42:24. > :42:30.Does it again. A small, Miss small. And she is not missing. -- came
:42:31. > :42:46.small. It is all USA at the moment, isn't
:42:47. > :42:49.it. Five points, this is the biggest lead they have had in the match so
:42:50. > :43:03.far. Same substitution we have seen
:43:04. > :43:13.throughout the match. Robinson in for Hill.
:43:14. > :43:30.You can really hear the contact on that ball. It is a real thunderous
:43:31. > :43:36.hit from packing red day work -- from Akinradewo. They can exhale now
:43:37. > :43:42.she is back at the service line, but, man. They will be relieved that
:43:43. > :43:45.one hasn't made it over, even though Akinradewo is going off, Rachel
:43:46. > :43:49.Adams is in the front row and this just as good and presents a similar
:43:50. > :43:53.threat and the Netherlands now have to deal with three rotations. They
:43:54. > :44:02.need points here. Oh, dear, that doesn't help. Guidetti looking on
:44:03. > :44:07.thinking about what can he do, how can he change it. Is there anything
:44:08. > :44:10.he can do. Right now, the USA are making it very difficult for the
:44:11. > :44:11.Netherlands and the Netherlands aren't helping themselves with
:44:12. > :44:22.unforced errors. Good recovery. Adams played that
:44:23. > :44:28.again and it must have been Karsta Lowe who played it off the block.
:44:29. > :44:30.That one ends up being the Netherlands ball to. . That was a
:44:31. > :44:42.good get from Adams. It always makes me so nervous when
:44:43. > :44:47.you have players going full speed and then trying to hold themselves
:44:48. > :44:51.back. You are trained to play a ball and continue through the ball and
:44:52. > :44:56.let the ball continue your motion. So if the ball takes you to your
:44:57. > :45:00.right, you play the ball to your right and continue to finish it, you
:45:01. > :45:05.continue that movement and when you have a team-mate coming at you. Eat,
:45:06. > :45:11.to stop and pull back, it becomes really, really dangerous -- we have
:45:12. > :45:15.a team-mate coming at you, it becomes really dangerous to stop and
:45:16. > :45:17.pull-back. The athlete putting a hand down trying to stop themselves
:45:18. > :45:31.can cause injury as well. A few changes either side, scooters
:45:32. > :45:33.in, Karsta Lowe has come back in and Hill has come back in for Robinson
:45:34. > :46:10.-- skewed is in. -- Schoot. This is interesting. Belien has come
:46:11. > :46:19.into serve but actually Steenbergen has probably been the better server.
:46:20. > :46:42.Nice blocking, De Kruijf denying Hill, along with Sloetjes.
:46:43. > :46:52.Good covering by Hill. And that time a slightly shorter ball, quicker
:46:53. > :46:57.set, gets the block out before the Netherlands could finish their
:46:58. > :46:59.blocking. Thompson is in for Adams to serve. This is looking really
:47:00. > :47:21.good for the USA. Courtney Thompson. Oh dear, too much
:47:22. > :47:33.on that one, she's normally so reliable from serving line. A
:47:34. > :47:34.substitution reverse, Adams goes off, Sloetjes will serve for the
:47:35. > :48:00.Netherlands. There's a chance here now, Hill, and
:48:01. > :48:05.she takes it, finds a bit of wriggle room to go off the block, and out.
:48:06. > :48:09.Anxious looks up to the scoreboard from the Netherlands players, as
:48:10. > :48:27.Hill goes over the top of Dijkema. Good book, really good save from
:48:28. > :48:32.Larson. It is the slide that gets the job done for the Netherlands,
:48:33. > :48:39.but it's a simple scenario now, simple to say it but three side outs
:48:40. > :48:44.and it's job done. First ball fired out, that's what you go back and
:48:45. > :48:46.tell yourself, just first ball side out and anything pass, that's a
:48:47. > :49:03.bonus. That's one of those bonuses as well
:49:04. > :49:08.because you don't have to work for that first ball side out, it's a
:49:09. > :49:14.gift. She was taking a hack on that and as she has in the front row as
:49:15. > :49:22.well, when you are getting flow the ball in the front row, it only makes
:49:23. > :49:29.sense to go back and rip a jumpy as well.
:49:30. > :49:35.Brilliant blocking for the USA. And now they are on the verge of a
:49:36. > :49:55.bronze medal, it is match point. They are getting ready to flood the
:49:56. > :49:58.court if they can do it at the first time of asking. They have five
:49:59. > :50:05.chances, how many will they need? Here with the serve. Oh, it's an ace
:50:06. > :50:10.serves, and that's it! It's all over. The USA have taken bronze
:50:11. > :50:15.here, they have broken the hearts of the Netherlands who have yet to
:50:16. > :50:19.claim an Olympic medal. It's the fifth Olympic medal for the USA.
:50:20. > :50:26.They were denied the opportunity to try and go back and get gold after
:50:27. > :50:30.failing in 2008 and 2012 with consecutive silvers, but they have
:50:31. > :50:37.bounced back here and taken bronze. They have beaten the Netherlands by
:50:38. > :50:42.three - one. STUDIO:
:50:43. > :50:47.Well done to USA, bronze medal winners, they were the favourites
:50:48. > :50:51.remember. Before it all started. But they have been in the semifinal and
:50:52. > :50:55.if you would like to see the gold medal match in the women's
:50:56. > :50:59.volleyball, that sees China take on Serbia, who we've already seen their
:51:00. > :51:03.men when the water polo gold medal match final this evening, that will
:51:04. > :51:09.be available for you at 2:15am on the Red Button, so if you want some
:51:10. > :51:11.more volleyball, the gold medal match, China against Serbia, 2:15am
:51:12. > :51:17.on the Red Button. I'll tell you what we've got lined up and make
:51:18. > :51:21.sure we mention Mo Farah, who is on BBC One at about 1:30am. Tonight,
:51:22. > :51:24.from a Brazilian perspective, it's been all about the football. Before
:51:25. > :51:28.this tournament started there were real concerns about the national
:51:29. > :51:31.side. This was probably the first own pick football tournament that
:51:32. > :51:40.they really took seriously. They've never won golden Olympics before and
:51:41. > :51:43.because of what happened in the World Cup two years ago and the way
:51:44. > :51:44.they have been playing recently, this Olympic football tournament
:51:45. > :51:48.took on added significance. Tonight, in the Maracana, which is probably
:51:49. > :51:53.one hour and 15 minutes, in this traffic, probably two hours and 15
:51:54. > :51:56.minutes, but you can get their relatively quickly, they managed to
:51:57. > :52:01.win the gold medal against Germany. Neymar was the golden boy of
:52:02. > :52:07.Brazilian football, there he is getting his medal, he scored the
:52:08. > :52:11.winning penalty, a 5-4 shoot out over Germany, it's a thrilling
:52:12. > :52:16.final. As the final goal went in up and down here on Copacabana
:52:17. > :52:20.everybody in the beach side clubs and pubs and bars screaming, car
:52:21. > :52:28.horns hooting, fireworks going off, because they know that Brazil's six
:52:29. > :52:32.gold medal of the Games is the one the vast majority of the Brazilians
:52:33. > :52:38.will hold so dear. It was 1-1 after extra time. Neymar put Brazil ahead
:52:39. > :52:46.in the 27th minute of the game. Germany's Neil Patterson was the
:52:47. > :52:50.first to miss, their fifth spot kick, and sometimes it goes wrong
:52:51. > :52:54.when you save yourself for the spot kick, we have seen it happen to
:52:55. > :53:01.Ronaldo but sometimes destiny is on your side -- Nils Petersen missed.
:53:02. > :53:05.Brazil are the Olympic champions in football. Some other news to bring
:53:06. > :53:11.you tonight. And for the second night on the trot we have Moon News.
:53:12. > :53:15.Take a look at this. The red moon is back. I know Manchester City love a
:53:16. > :53:19.bit of blue Moon book for the second night on the trot there are people
:53:20. > :53:23.up and down Copacabana taking pictures of the red moon. I think I
:53:24. > :53:27.horrendously tried to explain to you last night how that works. From what
:53:28. > :53:32.I can remember from the floor manager, Dan, and his surge of the
:53:33. > :53:39.Internet, something to do with a bit of alignment of the sun and the moon
:53:40. > :53:43.and dirt, or something in the Earth's atmosphere, and that sort of
:53:44. > :53:47.reflects on the moon. I think there's definitely a spot for me on
:53:48. > :53:52.stargazing live with explanations like that. We tried to get Brian Cox
:53:53. > :53:56.to give as a call yesterday but it didn't quite work. Right, the kite
:53:57. > :53:59.flyers are out behind is as well, the boys on the beach enjoying
:54:00. > :54:02.themselves after no doubt enjoying the football, there's been
:54:03. > :54:07.celebration going on in the surf as well. We're going to bring you some
:54:08. > :54:11.taekwondo, as promised. Today, there were great hopes for Bianca Walkden
:54:12. > :54:14.and Mahama Cho but they both lost in the semifinals, but it doesn't mean
:54:15. > :54:17.there are definitely going home without a medal because they are
:54:18. > :54:30.both involved in bronze medal matches in the next few minutes or
:54:31. > :54:31.so. Jade Jones, who won gold a few nights ago, then Lutalo Muhammad
:54:32. > :54:35.agonisingly got silver, one second on the clock, he was ahead and the
:54:36. > :54:41.guy from the ivory coach -- Ivory Coast, got a kick in. If you saw
:54:42. > :54:45.Lutalo's interview afterwards you would see how much it meant. Jade
:54:46. > :54:49.Jones is the flatmate of Bianca Walkden, who was going for gold in
:54:50. > :54:56.the heavyweights today. This is the story of Bianca's day.
:54:57. > :55:03.COMMENTATOR: That was a great one to the head
:55:04. > :55:12.there. A great head shot. She scores again. Totally outclassed the lady
:55:13. > :55:17.from Papua New Guinea. Tense times here. The first point on the board,
:55:18. > :55:22.gancho walked and finds it with the Bush gig. Closing in style and
:55:23. > :55:32.Olympic semifinal. What a performance. This one for a spot in
:55:33. > :55:36.the Olympic final. Big fighters with serious credentials, both have
:55:37. > :55:40.something to prove. An impasse at the moment. One point will make a
:55:41. > :55:45.huge difference to the momentum of this one, if it's drawn here it will
:55:46. > :55:50.go to a golden point and the first point will be the winner. The head
:55:51. > :55:59.shot that, in the last seconds Bianca Walkden will be disconsolate.
:56:00. > :56:04.Into the heavyweight final, Zheng Shuyin of China. Bianca Walkden will
:56:05. > :56:09.be devastated but she will have to pick ourselves up for the repechage.
:56:10. > :56:15.More tears in the taekwondo. We can go through to Carioca three Arena
:56:16. > :56:20.and have a word with Nick Cope, you have been there for most of the
:56:21. > :56:23.taekwondo, we will talk about Lutalo Mohammed Al-Bayati synchrony brutal
:56:24. > :56:27.interview with you did with him yesterday but as far as Bianca is
:56:28. > :56:31.involved, she was work cars world champion and we saw the tears after
:56:32. > :56:36.the semifinal where she had the chance to get through to the gold
:56:37. > :56:41.medal match. She can still go home with a bronze medal tonight.
:56:42. > :56:45.Absolutely, for those who don't know her background story, a bronze medal
:56:46. > :56:51.would be an incredible achievement. A few years ago we wondered if she
:56:52. > :56:55.would have a future in the sport. She suffered her second cruciate
:56:56. > :57:01.knee ligament injury, and really five years ago people weren't coming
:57:02. > :57:05.back from those kinds of injuries. But she made an amazing recovery and
:57:06. > :57:08.won the world title. It is testament that she was coming into an event
:57:09. > :57:13.like this thinking I'm going to be Olympic champion at the end. GB have
:57:14. > :57:17.got so much experience behind the scenes and have turned around
:57:18. > :57:21.results for Jade Jones in the past and Lutalo Mohammed, hopefully they
:57:22. > :57:26.can do some work on Bianca and win another medal, GB's third in tae
:57:27. > :57:30.kwon I know there was disappointment for Lutalo Muhammad last night but
:57:31. > :57:33.it could be more successful, who with her opponent tonight and what
:57:34. > :57:40.should we watch out for? She's up against the Moroccan, we've not had
:57:41. > :57:47.too much about her before the Olympics. Once you have qualified
:57:48. > :57:51.for it and it's not the World Championships of the continental
:57:52. > :57:55.championships you have it mix and flavour, so the fact she has been
:57:56. > :57:59.able to win through to this stage and beat European medals en route
:58:00. > :58:02.means she can be a threat, but looking at the rankings and the
:58:03. > :58:06.background and what Bianca has achieved in the past you would see
:58:07. > :58:10.her as the favourite heading into this one. What about Mahama Cho, who
:58:11. > :58:22.is coming up after this? I love the fact we say it's Cho Time. He has a
:58:23. > :58:26.fantastic chance, not in terms of just the strong fighter but the home
:58:27. > :58:32.crowd, he's up against a Brazilian. They come in with a fourth seed, the
:58:33. > :58:35.home nation, so are considered to have a decent medal prospect but
:58:36. > :58:39.because they haven't been competing for a while, we don't know what kind
:58:40. > :58:47.of form they are rings but we have seen he has been impressive today
:58:48. > :58:50.and he's feeding off the crowd. Cho, Cho Time, he loves the atmosphere
:58:51. > :58:54.and he will like to play the villain when he comes out. He has been
:58:55. > :58:58.ranked tenth, his form has been all over the place before he won the
:58:59. > :59:04.European qualification event in February. He will want to finish off
:59:05. > :59:09.this year on a high. We will see the bronze medal matches in a moment.
:59:10. > :59:12.They may come out quickly. Lutalo Mohammed, such disappointment
:59:13. > :59:17.yesterday, we see Bianca Walkden come out, but briefly, do you think
:59:18. > :59:22.he has that mental strength to come back again and do it all over again,
:59:23. > :59:25.when he has gone through so many injuries? After the interview you
:59:26. > :59:31.could see he was devastated and considering what to do next, but
:59:32. > :59:35.seeing him today, having a chat, he is focused. He is targeting Tokyo
:59:36. > :59:43.already. He once the Olympic gold medal. He's devastated but such a
:59:44. > :59:46.fighter. He went through so much to make it to London with all the
:59:47. > :59:50.controversy, he will be back. We will hopefully speak to you and
:59:51. > :59:55.Bianca and Mahama Cho after these bouts. Let's see of Bianca can win
:59:56. > :00:08.another taekwondo medal, can she get them bronze?
:00:09. > :00:21.Time for the coaches here, last bits of information from the Moroccan.
:00:22. > :00:48.Kimm Heeyoung Absolutely, bronze medal at stake here, this is the
:00:49. > :00:52.business end for the heavyweights. Let's see who can do the business
:00:53. > :01:03.here. Kimm Heeyoung from the Korean Republic. From the Korean Republic.
:01:04. > :01:10.She has the Open stands, trying to open up with a push kick to start
:01:11. > :01:14.again. Dislam doing the same. Good defence from the Moroccan, she is on
:01:15. > :01:18.the back foot at the moment. Steps forward with attempted head kick
:01:19. > :01:26.there. This one already, wasting no time. Attempt to the head from
:01:27. > :01:31.Bianca Walkden but Dislam is coming out all guns blazing so far. There
:01:32. > :01:35.is another headshot. That one makes it. That one almost scores. I think
:01:36. > :01:42.we are going to see a video replay card. I think a bit of confusion in
:01:43. > :01:48.terms of who will plead the card. The head kick was thrown by Bianca
:01:49. > :01:55.Walkden. The judges have automatically seen it. Video replay
:01:56. > :01:59.card not required. However, they can protest the card, so playing their
:02:00. > :02:04.cards said, the Moroccan coach saying no three points, let's have a
:02:05. > :02:11.little review. The three judges at the side decided it was ahead point
:02:12. > :02:19.kick. The Moroccan coach complaining that it wasn't. Is it the hand? That
:02:20. > :02:24.is not the area of contention. The face comes back and the chop kick
:02:25. > :02:31.comes down. Is there any contact of a face. --? It doesn't look like it
:02:32. > :02:42.from this angle. I think it was the reaction from Dislam. They are
:02:43. > :02:52.invalidating it, so he is saying, yes, the three points are
:02:53. > :03:03.invalidated. It is a mixture of hand jive. The three points are taken
:03:04. > :03:09.away. The initial 3-point head kick we saw, that is the current
:03:10. > :03:14.technology. Making sure it is fair. It is not always perfect, but the
:03:15. > :03:20.video replay working well. Trying to push forward, Walkden, trying to use
:03:21. > :03:31.the front leg as a jab. Dislam doing the same. Engrossing opening period,
:03:32. > :03:35.one minute gone. Dislam trying to pick off Walkden's head, going for
:03:36. > :03:42.the three points, they are the ones that are going to score big. Walkden
:03:43. > :03:49.trying to do the same. Dislam adept at covering. Bit of an impasse
:03:50. > :03:58.develops. A lot of energy used in these footwork. The feet are flying
:03:59. > :04:06.but the scoreboard stays the same. As the attempted power punch from
:04:07. > :04:10.Walkden comes, Dislam protecting her body to prevent anything coming
:04:11. > :04:16.through. Trying to get through with the head kick, Dislam, she is
:04:17. > :04:19.getting closer. Starting to put some pressure on as we reach the closing
:04:20. > :04:24.stages of this engrossing first round. Nothing doing on the
:04:25. > :04:29.scoreboard but plenty to think about. If it was a great appeal
:04:30. > :04:38.Birtwhistle from her coach, she clearly knew what was going on, just
:04:39. > :04:42.caught her nose on the padding. You can see just a little luck of the
:04:43. > :04:46.pensive face from Walkden under way in, but it was almost the kick in
:04:47. > :04:51.the face that made the difference and as you rightly say, the coach
:04:52. > :04:57.did the right job here. There was a clash of heads. The video replay
:04:58. > :05:17.system working perfectly here. Fairness observed, 0-0.
:05:18. > :05:25.Crucial times here at the Carioca arena. Bianca Walkden of Great
:05:26. > :05:33.Britain, we am days lamb, this for a heavyweight bronze medal here in the
:05:34. > :05:38.taekwondo. -- Wiam Dislam. Both fighters looking for the distance.
:05:39. > :05:46.Of course, they wear socks with sensors on them, any whack on the
:05:47. > :05:58.body or the head, points scored. But at the moment, it is a stalemate.
:05:59. > :06:08.Both fighters still pushing to try and take the lead. Dislam in red
:06:09. > :06:13.just changing her stance, making it more difficult to read. Changing the
:06:14. > :06:20.tempo, changing the distance and Dislam trying to dislodge walked in
:06:21. > :06:24.with that back leg turning kick. She has gained some ground, Walkden
:06:25. > :06:31.straying towards the edge. Nothing to choose here. Good punch by
:06:32. > :06:37.Walkden. Just stepping round. How will the referee see that? She has
:06:38. > :06:43.given the kyong go to Walkden, as suspected. A push, rather than a
:06:44. > :06:47.fall. Did she fall was she pushed? The answer is on the board, a little
:06:48. > :06:54.yellow card against Walkden who tries again with a punch to the
:06:55. > :07:02.body. Dislam not interested in taking a back step. The tempo of
:07:03. > :07:07.this fight is really high. Look at that. A cracking shot. Walkden, as
:07:08. > :07:14.shot to the head, take those three points, thank you very much. It was
:07:15. > :07:19.the tempo and it was the technique. Bianca Walkden takes another one, a
:07:20. > :07:25.little push kick to the body. She is stepping it up here. Dislam
:07:26. > :07:30.disorientated by the headshot. Handy little 4-point gap. Ten seconds
:07:31. > :07:35.left. It has been an embattled second round for the Moroccan. She
:07:36. > :07:40.is rocking back and forward, trying to do something. She is going to
:07:41. > :07:45.have to live to fight another day. Bianca Walkden looking aggressive
:07:46. > :07:50.now, her body language much better. Yes, she looks much more positive in
:07:51. > :07:53.body language. When she first walked out to the arena, she looked like
:07:54. > :08:01.she was still shocked from the previous loss, but now she is in
:08:02. > :08:06.command. Dislam from Morocco, she knows she can find the body, she has
:08:07. > :08:11.had a few shots at it, she just can't quite get it right. The
:08:12. > :08:18.business end here of the competition in Brazil, doing the business with
:08:19. > :08:30.that head shot there. , Bianca Walkden.
:08:31. > :08:41.Last minute bits of advice here. Bianca Walkden against Dislam, the
:08:42. > :08:46.British fighter four points to the good. Her first-ever Olympic Games
:08:47. > :08:51.and she is first out of the traps there, straight into the body armour
:08:52. > :08:57.of the Moroccan, Dislam. Good change of stance from Walkden, the fighter
:08:58. > :09:05.from Liverpool, in blue. Dislam from Rabat in Morocco. Can she rebirth
:09:06. > :09:11.the advances from Walkden? Attempted headshot. She has a little look at
:09:12. > :09:17.her coach. She is asking for the replay card, she believes she made
:09:18. > :09:19.contact with Walkden's face. Three points at stake, this is an
:09:20. > :09:32.important moment in the third round. Let's have a look, you decide
:09:33. > :09:37.yourself at home. What do you think? Anything on the face? I think so, I
:09:38. > :09:43.think she just caught Walkden's knows. That could be enough. We only
:09:44. > :09:48.get one angle. Three good men and true here, they have six different
:09:49. > :09:57.cameras to look at. They will take their time. Key moments here,
:09:58. > :10:05.massive tension. We am days lamb, Tichit make -- Wiam Dislam, does
:10:06. > :10:12.make any contact here? Decide for yourself at home. The judges will
:10:13. > :10:16.decide here. Different angles, different approaches. It could be a
:10:17. > :10:30.massively different outcome here. Well, it has been knocked back. Key
:10:31. > :10:35.times for Bianca Walkden. The centre referee gets them under way again.
:10:36. > :10:42.Wiam Dislam continues without the card, part -- can't play it again.
:10:43. > :10:47.But does she have an ace up her sleeve? It is queen bee in the
:10:48. > :10:53.middle, Bianca Walkden, four points to the good. Dislam has to go the
:10:54. > :11:01.something big. There is another one, that has taken Bianca Walkden up to
:11:02. > :11:07.7-0. She needs to keep going. Perfect timing from Walkden and she
:11:08. > :11:13.pushes out another shot to the body. A very popular fighter and you can
:11:14. > :11:19.hear the Brazilian crowd. One minute left in this one. You can read the
:11:20. > :11:26.score for yourself. Dislam knows the score that can she change it?
:11:27. > :11:35.Walkden now just walking in, poise and precision.
:11:36. > :11:40.Walkden is going to anticipate the blows to the head that will be
:11:41. > :11:47.attempted in these remaining seconds. Dislam has to go for it.
:11:48. > :11:54.Bianca Walkden needs to protect herself but needs to continue
:11:55. > :11:58.attacking. You can hear Paul Green in the background say, close it
:11:59. > :12:03.down, stay there, stay with the left. Big moments for the British
:12:04. > :12:16.fighter and a point for why am days lamb by way of the kyong go. -- we
:12:17. > :12:19.am days lamb by way of the kyong go. Two serious knee injuries. Didn't
:12:20. > :12:25.look like she would qualify for the Olympic Games. She has hung on and
:12:26. > :12:32.battled and Bianca Walkden has shown the tenacity. Will she get the
:12:33. > :12:38.reward. --? She most certainly will. Bianca Walkden, Olympic Games
:12:39. > :12:47.bronze-medallist. She battled for that, battled her aspirations for
:12:48. > :12:51.gold. She comes away with a very creditworthy bronze medal. A mixture
:12:52. > :12:55.of excitement and indeed some measure of disappointment. She came
:12:56. > :13:00.for gold, she goes away with an excellent bronze medal. Bianca
:13:01. > :13:07.Walkden, a true credit. An emotional embrace, a brilliant runs medal for
:13:08. > :13:13.Bianca Walkden. Paul Green again taking the plaudits from his
:13:14. > :13:16.fighters. Jade Jones took gold and gave Paul Green the credit and
:13:17. > :13:24.Bianca Walkden does the same. Huge credit to the Liverpool fighter,
:13:25. > :13:30.likewise credit to Wiam Dislam. It takes to divide and she gave plenty.
:13:31. > :13:41.A few millimetres short. Bianca Walkden, from Great Britain, she
:13:42. > :13:50.takes that heavyweight bronze medal. And she does it with some style. And
:13:51. > :13:55.what a fight their, as we see Paul Green celebrate. I truly hope Bianca
:13:56. > :14:00.Walkden will look back on this and see how much she has achieved. We
:14:01. > :14:04.know she wanted cold, she has done well to compose herself and come out
:14:05. > :14:12.here all guns blazing. Credit to her, a bronze medal. She had to work
:14:13. > :14:16.hard, Wiam Dislam dislodged and it is Walkden that takes the win. It is
:14:17. > :14:31.a brilliant moment for the fighter from Great Britain.
:14:32. > :14:38.DAN WALKER: It is good to see Bianca Walkden enjoying that bronze medal
:14:39. > :14:43.because we know, as we are hearing from the commentators and speaking
:14:44. > :14:46.to Nick beforehand, how much it hurt that she failed to get through to
:14:47. > :14:52.the bronze medal match and when it comes to taekwondo, it is a gold,
:14:53. > :14:57.silver and a bronze for Team GB. The gold for Jade Jones, the Silver for
:14:58. > :15:01.Lutalo Mohammad yesterday and bronze for Bianca Walkden. That is the 64th
:15:02. > :15:05.medal of the Games for Great Britain. This could be number 65,
:15:06. > :15:56.which would match the number from four years ago. Here is Mahama Cho.
:15:57. > :16:11.Big promises there from the British coach. Can he help Mahama Cho
:16:12. > :16:15.deliver, deliver he must, against Maicon Siqueira. He has an enormous
:16:16. > :16:22.advantage here. He understands what the tough side of the street is
:16:23. > :16:26.like, does Maicon Siqueira. He now takes the big steps up, enters the
:16:27. > :16:33.stadium, bronze medal at stake. Brazilian pride against British hope
:16:34. > :16:40.at the moment. Mahama Cho, he's in blue, and this man here, Maicon
:16:41. > :16:45.Siqueira, can he secure a bronze macro medal -- a bronze medal, or
:16:46. > :16:53.will Mahama Cho have too much? 32-macro minute rounds to decide the
:16:54. > :16:59.destination of this heavyweight bronze medal. Maicon Siqueira in
:17:00. > :17:03.red. Good defensive front leg counter from Mahama Cho. His first
:17:04. > :17:08.job of course, subdue the crowd and silence his opponent. Siqueira, the
:17:09. > :17:18.converse. He's got to try and step in, create some momentum. Into the
:17:19. > :17:21.first clinch. I was expecting to see both fighters coming out all guns
:17:22. > :17:28.blazing, but there are a little bit more reserved. Great attempt. Mahama
:17:29. > :17:32.Cho going forward, reversed turning kick, but the crowd here just
:17:33. > :17:35.incredible. They are, right now it doesn't matter who's fighting,
:17:36. > :17:43.they've been loud and hopefully Mahama Cho will also use that to his
:17:44. > :17:48.advantage. Back leg turning kick there from Maicon Siqueira, tries to
:17:49. > :17:54.sneak one under the guard of the work there from Mahama Cho.
:17:55. > :18:05.As the crowd get into this one. A push kick attempt there, again from
:18:06. > :18:09.Siqueira. Cho on the back foot, trying to pop out that front leg.
:18:10. > :18:24.Its defence first from Mahama Cho from Great Britain.
:18:25. > :18:32.The carnival atmosphere continuing here.
:18:33. > :18:39.What a wonderful arena to be fighting in? The atmosphere in
:18:40. > :18:43.Carioca three is just electric. Both fighters here really want this
:18:44. > :18:51.bronze medal and as we can see, now going for it. The footwork has been
:18:52. > :18:57.impeccable. That one was a bit low. They need to make contact with the
:18:58. > :19:01.pads to get the points. Not registering anything yet at the end
:19:02. > :19:19.of an engrossing first round. Mutual respect. No advantage just yet.
:19:20. > :19:26.The reversed turning kick is worth four points. Whistling over their
:19:27. > :19:40.shoulder their Siqueira. Not much to choose between the two,
:19:41. > :19:51.certainly not on the scoreboard. Both sides open... At the same
:19:52. > :19:56.time... They're not here to play, here to fight. The bronze medal
:19:57. > :19:57.contest, Mahama Cho against Maicon Siqueira, into the second round
:19:58. > :20:08.here. Mahama Cho born in the Ivory Coast,
:20:09. > :20:14.moved to London when he was eight years old. His dad was an end the
:20:15. > :20:21.tae kwon do champion of Africa. He tries with that kick to the body, as
:20:22. > :20:28.advised by the coach. He was a promising footballer. His goal here,
:20:29. > :20:34.the bronze medal. Can Siqueira surf on the atmosphere provided and push
:20:35. > :20:38.forward? Mahama Cho needs to stay on his feet. He has won Kyong-go
:20:39. > :20:43.against him already. Siqueira clearly putting him under some
:20:44. > :20:52.pressure. Faking, trying to entice him in. There's a top pick on the
:20:53. > :20:56.way through from the head shot, it works, I was just thinking there
:20:57. > :21:00.could be a Congo as well, yes, it will. Mahama Cho just plans it
:21:01. > :21:06.perfectly but landing on the map as well -- there could be a Kyong-go as
:21:07. > :21:14.well. It's 3-1, Mahama Cho in contention here. Siqueira takes one
:21:15. > :21:18.to the body there. You've just got to wonder how much the blow to
:21:19. > :21:25.confidence that will have been to Siqueira, taking that knock to the
:21:26. > :21:29.head. It does dazzle you. It's a good point you have made in terms of
:21:30. > :21:33.getting kicked in the face. Not a lot of fun. Thankfully it doesn't
:21:34. > :21:41.happen in the commentary box but down on the mat here both men going
:21:42. > :21:46.for it. That's three point shot. Separating the two. Good footwork
:21:47. > :21:50.against from Mahama Cho. Siqueira doesn't look to be the same kind of
:21:51. > :21:54.man he was a few seconds ago, before that three points to the head. Here
:21:55. > :21:59.he comes, unsuccessful though, nothing registering. Another
:22:00. > :22:05.Kyong-go, running away. Mahama Cho just on the back foot there. The
:22:06. > :22:10.Brazilian regaining his senses, gets his composure back and almost gets
:22:11. > :22:15.one under the body army of Mahama Cho. Each kick attempt from the
:22:16. > :22:19.Brazilian. Cho does well to get back in the ring. Great blocking, a big
:22:20. > :22:23.punch, they are reeling and rocking in Rio. Five seconds left in the
:22:24. > :22:27.second round. Mahama Cho goes for the head shot again. Excellent round
:22:28. > :22:32.from the British fighter. Absolutely, he's in the lead. Is it
:22:33. > :22:35.enough? I don't know, I think he's going to have to work hard still in
:22:36. > :22:46.this third round. Siqueira was momentarily dazed but
:22:47. > :22:51.came back at the end of the second round. The head shots are big power
:22:52. > :22:56.shots and do take a physical toll. It tells the tale on the scoreboard,
:22:57. > :23:01.this was the big head shot, Cho fell over so the Kyong-go as well. Maicon
:23:02. > :23:15.Siqueira is in a fight now. The key moments in the career of the
:23:16. > :23:30.23-year-old from Rio. Three years the senior of Mahama
:23:31. > :23:36.Cho, the man from Britain in Bloom. A nice show of mutual respect. I is
:23:37. > :23:44.down, the third and potentially final-round. There is sometimes an
:23:45. > :23:47.extra round where extra points are needed, extra points are certainly
:23:48. > :23:52.needed by Maicon Siqueira. Resolute defence from Mahama Cho. I gain, the
:23:53. > :23:57.hook kick attempt to the head from the Brazilian, an aggressive start
:23:58. > :24:02.from Maicon Siqueira. Reversed turning kick their attempted by
:24:03. > :24:07.Mahama Cho, avoids, and the back kick scores though. Will there be
:24:08. > :24:12.any extra points? The referee is going to look at that. The back kick
:24:13. > :24:15.landed, back kicks RA three point shot. Let's have a little
:24:16. > :24:25.confirmation here, there should be two points. Two points added for the
:24:26. > :24:29.back kick and that changes the complexity and complexion of this
:24:30. > :24:38.match. The more difficult the technique, the greater the points. I
:24:39. > :24:43.hope someone has nailed the roof down, because it is about to come
:24:44. > :24:48.off here. Mahama Cho, taking his time, gathering up. The confidence
:24:49. > :24:53.and the game plan, still plenty of time left for the British fighter.
:24:54. > :25:00.Tries with a back kick of his own, punches well, good, from Siqueira.
:25:01. > :25:05.Four points apiece. The score can change so quickly in such a dynamic
:25:06. > :25:15.sport. One kick can feel it, one kick can take the lead. It's less
:25:16. > :25:21.than minute to find that -- it's less than one minute to find that
:25:22. > :25:25.point, a Kyong-go hanging against the British fighter. He must stay on
:25:26. > :25:28.his feet. Both men summoning up their energy for the last chip and
:25:29. > :25:33.charged at this bronze medal, Mahama Cho in blue. Maicon Siqueira in red.
:25:34. > :25:42.Who will go home with the bronze crushed and Mark 30 seconds to
:25:43. > :25:49.decide it. -- who will go home with the bronze? Who wants it most? Who
:25:50. > :25:57.is prepared to risk it? Both looking a little fatigues. Could that
:25:58. > :26:03.tiredness be pivotal in the last ten seconds here? Maicon Siqueira,
:26:04. > :26:06.Mahama Cho, who will find the shot? He falls over at the same time as
:26:07. > :26:15.the Bush kick. What's the referee going to do? I think we're going to
:26:16. > :26:25.have a little intervention, let's see if it will be the coach. I think
:26:26. > :26:29.an extra point for a back kick, extra point for the back kick is
:26:30. > :26:38.what the Brazilian coach is asking for. Let's listen. Yes. So indeed
:26:39. > :26:48.you can listen to it there, it was in amongst the melee, a higher value
:26:49. > :26:53.shot is the spin, either a back kick or a spin kick, that's worth three
:26:54. > :26:57.points, so this is crucial now. Olympic bronze medal hanging on the
:26:58. > :27:05.technology. It's good to see that they can get the right result.
:27:06. > :27:14.Massive tension. It is unsuccessful, it wasn't a back kick. That was what
:27:15. > :27:25.the request was for. Is there enough time? In the end, Maicon Siqueira
:27:26. > :27:29.secures a bronze medal for Brazil. CHEERING
:27:30. > :27:37.Mahama Cho gave it all he could, but Maicon Siqueira used to work as a
:27:38. > :27:44.builder and a waiter, he doesn't have too wait for much longer now.
:27:45. > :27:52.He will be on the podium and the front pages and back pages of the
:27:53. > :27:54.newspapers of Brazil. Mahama Cho dejected. He gave it his all. Let's
:27:55. > :28:05.listen to the crowd. CHEERING
:28:06. > :28:12.The big man from Brazil, Maicon Siqueira, secures a bronze medal. I
:28:13. > :28:19.don't know if he has a ticket for the Arena as well, but he's back
:28:20. > :28:23.with that bronze medal. Mahama Cho, it takes two to fight and my
:28:24. > :28:28.goodness, he put it in there. Tremendous scenes here. To come away
:28:29. > :28:33.with a medal in front of your home crowd, what more could you ask for?
:28:34. > :28:37.You can see how much it means to him and his fans. A truly tremendous
:28:38. > :28:43.result for Brazil. Absolutely devastating for Great Britain. But
:28:44. > :28:51.that score. Indeed, the winner is sport. -- but that is sport. High
:28:52. > :28:57.emotion, trends and family unite around Maicon Siqueira. From humble
:28:58. > :29:04.beginnings, he rises to great heights here. Just about escapes
:29:05. > :29:08.from the crowd there. Here he is, this is his moment.
:29:09. > :29:40.The Olympic Games, never an easy thing to host, but it is the hosts
:29:41. > :29:46.that have some success here. Desolation for Mahama Cho of Great
:29:47. > :30:16.Britain. Absolute delight, Maicon Siqueira. A star is born.
:30:17. > :30:23.DAN WALKER: It was an excellent fight from Mahama Cho but I suppose
:30:24. > :30:28.it reminds us a little bit of the scenes in London four years ago, in
:30:29. > :30:33.particular Gemma Gibbons winning her medal and when she managed to get
:30:34. > :30:38.into the gold medal match in the judo, she fell to her knees and
:30:39. > :30:42.pointed to the skies, it was an emotional scene and we have just
:30:43. > :30:47.seen the Brazilian there running around and celebrating with his
:30:48. > :30:53.family. And to win it in his home city one and -- meant an awful lot.
:30:54. > :30:58.We will try and grab a word with Mahama Cho but just before that, we
:30:59. > :31:04.saw Bianca Walkden win the 64th medal for Team GB and after that
:31:05. > :31:09.bronze, she spoke to Nick Hope. Massive congratulations, you are an
:31:10. > :31:14.Olympic medallist. I am happy but I'm gutted I didn't get gold. I am
:31:15. > :31:19.happy I am coming back with my first Olympic medal so hopefully I can go
:31:20. > :31:23.to Tokyo to win gold. Already looking ahead, but looking back, it
:31:24. > :31:28.must have been hard to turn things around after the semifinals but you
:31:29. > :31:31.handle the crowd and the fight. After what I have been through, I
:31:32. > :31:37.shouldn't even be here, to be honest, so for me to qualify, was
:31:38. > :31:41.massive, and I did lose to one of the best people so I can reflect on
:31:42. > :31:46.it and go to the Tokyo and the worlds and win more medals. Paul,
:31:47. > :31:49.you have been there for the whole journey, tell me what it has been
:31:50. > :31:55.like for Bianca to battle back from the injuries she has had such a mark
:31:56. > :31:58.this girl deserves so much credit. She has come back from a double
:31:59. > :32:05.anterior cruciate ligament, she works harder from anyone I ever have
:32:06. > :32:11.seen. She had the hardest draw in this category. There is only China
:32:12. > :32:15.that comes close to an unfortunately, she had to face in
:32:16. > :32:18.the semifinal. She deserves a gold medal but she came back strong for
:32:19. > :32:23.the bronze medal. She's a fighter and she always has and always will
:32:24. > :32:29.be. And it is an historic medal for GB, a third one here. And hopefully,
:32:30. > :32:34.I can go and get another medal but I do want to say thanks to this guy,
:32:35. > :32:39.who has got us this far and if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't be here.
:32:40. > :32:44.It is all credit to Paul. DAN WALKER: Well done, Bianca and
:32:45. > :32:52.just after his fight, Nick Hope has managed to grab Mahama Cho as well.
:32:53. > :32:56.So soon after, it is very difficult for you, I am sure, but you were up
:32:57. > :33:05.against not only a strong fighter but also the whole crowd as well.
:33:06. > :33:11.I'm sorry, it's devastating. I worked so hard for this and just to
:33:12. > :33:22.be taken away from you in the dying seconds, it really hurts. I want to
:33:23. > :33:31.congratulate him, he put on a good fight and he is a strong contender
:33:32. > :33:36.and I'm really, really... I have to congratulate him for the job that he
:33:37. > :33:41.has done, to come out of the repechage and come on top is not
:33:42. > :33:45.something that is easy to do, so well done to him but at the same
:33:46. > :33:50.time I would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to my
:33:51. > :33:54.parents, the people back in the UK, the team and staff, Team GB, UK
:33:55. > :34:00.sport for all of their help and the lottery funding people for
:34:01. > :34:07.everything they have put into me to get to this stage and I'm sorry that
:34:08. > :34:13.I couldn't bring home the medal. But that is what it is, that's what it
:34:14. > :34:16.is. You have achieved so much to get here, I remember when we spoke
:34:17. > :34:20.earlier in the year, it was touch and go whether you would make it to
:34:21. > :34:24.the Olympics but you performed here and performed well and have been
:34:25. > :34:31.part of this history making team. I'm sure you will want to fight on.
:34:32. > :34:37.I'm a fighter, I don't quit. I will take a step back and have a little
:34:38. > :34:42.break and try and see what the next cycle is going to take. We shall
:34:43. > :34:47.see, we shall see. The very best of luck.
:34:48. > :34:52.DAN WALKER: What a thoroughly decent man. It is so hard to watch those
:34:53. > :34:56.interviews but I suppose it is you are really good indication of what
:34:57. > :35:00.it means not only to be an Olympic champion but to win a silver medal
:35:01. > :35:04.or a bronze medal and how much it hurts to miss out in a match like
:35:05. > :35:07.that, when he really felt he had a chance. Came here full of
:35:08. > :35:12.confidence, thinking he could go all the way, but some real dignity and
:35:13. > :35:19.in the same way we saw Lutalo Mohammad yesterday speaking to Nick
:35:20. > :35:22.and the real pure emotion that came to add to his defeat, when he went
:35:23. > :35:26.out with a silver medal, but just one second away from a gold. It is
:35:27. > :35:30.good to hear those two young decent men speaking openly and honestly
:35:31. > :35:33.about not doing quite what they wanted to do but hopefully, as they
:35:34. > :35:38.were both saying, they can regroup and maybe go stronger and further
:35:39. > :35:41.and go again in the years to come. And if you have been inspired by
:35:42. > :35:46.their interviews, performances or anything else you have seen during
:35:47. > :35:50.the Games, we have said this a lot, but it is an important Olympic
:35:51. > :35:55.message. We were speaking to three of Team GB's hockey stars and they
:35:56. > :35:59.said just try something, it doesn't have to be hockey, taekwondo, just
:36:00. > :36:02.go to the get inspired section of the website and who knows, maybe you
:36:03. > :36:07.could be celebrating like the Brazilians behind us. They are
:36:08. > :36:11.inspired by their football team tonight. And it might be football,
:36:12. > :36:16.the game we love so much back in the UK, but it could be anything. But if
:36:17. > :36:20.you would like to get into something you have seen in these Games and
:36:21. > :36:23.hopefully you can find something you yourself can get into, someone in
:36:24. > :36:28.your family or kids who may well have gone back to bed in the UK. It
:36:29. > :36:32.is a great website, a one-stop shop of something you have seen here
:36:33. > :36:37.makes you think, I can try that or someone you know could be good at
:36:38. > :36:41.it. The Brazilians having a little chat, live interview for one of the
:36:42. > :36:45.big stations here in Brazil, gathered out in the street and they
:36:46. > :36:51.are enjoying a gold medal success in the football. Over on BBC One, as we
:36:52. > :36:58.said, after the taekwondo, Mo Farah is about to go in the 5,000m, seeing
:36:59. > :37:02.if he can add that gold to the 10,000m he won. That is just under
:37:03. > :37:07.way, so we fully understand if you are going to leave is on BBC Four
:37:08. > :37:11.but do come back to us before we leave at two a.m., because we have
:37:12. > :37:15.some extra bits and pieces and we will run the best bits again and
:37:16. > :37:18.read out your messages. We have been staggered head, normally social
:37:19. > :37:24.media can be quite brutal but you have been so nice and I will give a
:37:25. > :37:27.mention to every one of the BBC 14. White and the idiot who sits in
:37:28. > :37:33.front of the camera but it wouldn't be possible without the lovely
:37:34. > :37:39.people behind the scenes -- BBC Four star. Now, the men's handball, we
:37:40. > :37:45.had to leave that at 2am in the morning. It was level, ten minutes
:37:46. > :37:48.to go and the winner would go into the gold medal match. This is
:37:49. > :37:52.Denmark against Poland from yesterday and this is the extra time
:37:53. > :37:57.period that we promised we would show you. Here is a bit of handball
:37:58. > :38:03.for you with Paul Bray and Jack Nichols on BBC Four.
:38:04. > :38:10.Into the first period of extra time. Five-minute hearts and if they can't
:38:11. > :38:16.be separated, another pair of five-minute hearts and then
:38:17. > :38:28.penalties. 25-25. And it is Denmark in possession. There is a two-minute
:38:29. > :38:32.suspension that is supposed to be served by Toft and unless the
:38:33. > :38:40.goalkeeper was Alf, I thought briefly for a second they had missed
:38:41. > :38:49.out, but he raced in. Now they are short-handed in defence. But they
:38:50. > :38:53.are a goal to the good and they are the team on the front foot in terms
:38:54. > :38:58.of goal-scoring now. If Poland score, they will go level and
:38:59. > :39:06.Denmark will have the chance to retake the lead.
:39:07. > :39:17.He comes in, could save. A good reaction to his right, went down
:39:18. > :39:22.quickly. A bit of space but the defenders once more sitting back too
:39:23. > :39:29.much. It was well planted and he will go straight off the game.
:39:30. > :39:35.Committed to that says pretty much before the ball had left his hand. A
:39:36. > :39:40.change over for the ball and the match under way, with Denmark coming
:39:41. > :39:44.forward, although they are down to six players, they have taken out the
:39:45. > :39:52.goalkeeper and going to try and look to take the 2-goal advantage. The
:39:53. > :40:01.defence, 501, which tended to leave Hanson, very wide. Wasilev skee is
:40:02. > :40:09.staying glued to him. Yes! Two goal lead, Toft scores. They are racing
:40:10. > :40:16.back in defence. Hanson is looking to give away a free throw and by
:40:17. > :40:29.time. They will look to field the attack as they make the
:40:30. > :40:36.substitutions. Out to Wisniewski. A little run and a drive. Still Poland
:40:37. > :40:43.not able to make any progress. The two-minute suspension is over, so
:40:44. > :40:51.Denmark back up to full strength. Wisniewski again being wrestled.
:40:52. > :40:58.Has to watch himself, he is on two two minute suspensions, Toft. Still
:40:59. > :41:02.holds on from behind. Interesting to note that the light players between
:41:03. > :41:12.them have only scored once, that last goal, by Toft. The first one
:41:13. > :41:18.scored by either one of them. But we have had Sven come in on the line
:41:19. > :41:21.and find a way through. A huge corridor and Landin makes a stunning
:41:22. > :41:27.stay there again. He really has picked his moment. He can't quite
:41:28. > :41:37.believe it, he could have taken a bus through there and Landin reacts
:41:38. > :41:42.so fast. Got his hand to it. Denmark's 2-goal advantage remains
:41:43. > :41:46.intact. Two minutes to go, Landin with a discussion with the referee.
:41:47. > :41:58.The Danes are in a better mood than when they conceded the last-minute
:41:59. > :42:03.equaliser in this this semifinal. Switching to Olsson, goes to Hansen.
:42:04. > :42:08.Olson goes straight through. The moment he stepped away, Olsson saw
:42:09. > :42:16.his chance. It is a funny tactic that he used in the first half. He
:42:17. > :42:30.is a big defender but he can do nothing against the pace of Olsen.
:42:31. > :42:41.Just a minute ago in this of extra time. Out to the wing and finished
:42:42. > :42:53.off, the back of the net found once again. Back down to two with a
:42:54. > :42:57.minute left. A nice goal by Daszek. Urges the crowd on. He has stood
:42:58. > :43:00.out, played so well throughout the tournament. That is five from five
:43:01. > :43:12.for the winger, very economical. That is very high, is that a
:43:13. > :43:17.two-minute suspension, I wonder? Seemed to catch him very high. No,
:43:18. > :43:23.he has got away with it, he is probably quite glad. It looks like
:43:24. > :43:30.Olsen was quite low himself. That is the difficulty of having a man of
:43:31. > :43:35.two metres facing a shorter player going in low as well. Lower centre
:43:36. > :43:40.of gravity and you have to reach down, which restricts your natural
:43:41. > :43:44.ability and he ends up wrestling him rather awkwardly. He is still on and
:43:45. > :43:49.they are pushing deep with 30 seconds to go in this period of
:43:50. > :43:59.extra time. Hand-sewn! It is all going in for Denmark now. -- Hansen.
:44:00. > :44:07.One minute for the Danes to try and get one goal back -- for the Polish.
:44:08. > :44:11.Who is going to take the shot? 4-1 in this period and that will run the
:44:12. > :44:16.clock down, that is what they wanted. They want the floor mopped.
:44:17. > :44:27.The hooter goes and it will have to be a direct throw. And it looks as
:44:28. > :44:32.if it is going to be taken by Syprzak, the tallest player on the
:44:33. > :44:37.Polish bench. Into the defensive wall and that brings to an end the
:44:38. > :44:41.first five minutes of extra time. Five minutes still to go and Poland
:44:42. > :44:48.have a lot to do if they want to recover the situation. A look at it
:44:49. > :44:51.again from Syprzak, just fires it straightaway and not close, really,
:44:52. > :45:00.to going over the top of the hands of the Danish wall. A little apology
:45:01. > :45:05.from Syprzak to Toft to say, are you all right and he says, yes, fine.
:45:06. > :45:11.Halfway through the first five-minute period of extra time and
:45:12. > :45:15.Denmark have extended the 3-goal lead, 29-26. It will be a quick
:45:16. > :45:19.turnaround before the start of the second five-minute period but that
:45:20. > :45:27.is more like it from Denmark. Four shots on goal goal, four goals. It
:45:28. > :45:31.is a unique situation, this happen so often, the team switches off in
:45:32. > :45:36.extra time, you are so relieved don't think we have saved the match
:45:37. > :45:40.and you just lose that focus, maybe there is too much adrenaline and it
:45:41. > :45:44.is more energy and not enough focus, but they have lost their way
:45:45. > :45:49.somewhat defensively, there is not enough movement and the Danes are
:45:50. > :45:53.rattling away and they have found a little bit of movement, but it is a
:45:54. > :45:59.big gap to make up in just five minutes, because that will fly.
:46:00. > :46:07.Denmark were down to just six players for the first part of that
:46:08. > :46:13.time. They were, you can make it up in defence. Five minutes in this
:46:14. > :46:17.extra time period to go. If they are still tied, we'll have some more
:46:18. > :46:21.extra time but as it stands, Denmark looking strong, three goals clear,
:46:22. > :46:26.and Poland have do is pull something out of the bag now. They managed it
:46:27. > :46:31.in the 59th minute and 58th second of normal time, trying to get it
:46:32. > :46:38.high, and really trying to draw the foul more than anything else by the
:46:39. > :46:42.look of it. . He couldn't quite see a safe house anywhere when he looked
:46:43. > :46:48.around. Luckily for him adjudged to have been found -- foul. If he'd
:46:49. > :46:58.been left alone he'd have had a turnover. He can't leave him alone,
:46:59. > :47:06.he has to push. That's the strike and it's in from Lijewski. Nothing
:47:07. > :47:12.that they could do about that one and the gap is down to two now. It
:47:13. > :47:21.rattled into the roof of the net but for Poland, they have to rely on the
:47:22. > :47:25.Danes missing their chances. The deep defence, Lijewski pushes right
:47:26. > :47:28.up in front of Olsen. Lijewski has moved out a bit, he's up on the
:47:29. > :47:36.nine-metre line to stay close to Hansen. They need some good
:47:37. > :47:42.communication so that Sven isn't left loose. Olsen teases a bit,
:47:43. > :47:49.Hansen, nearly a steel. Switches back again. The wing nut in an ideal
:47:50. > :47:54.position. Good save. -- the wing is not in an ideal position. Exactly
:47:55. > :48:04.what Poland needed and now, here they come again. They take their
:48:05. > :48:16.time, Poland, Syprzak comes in. Waiting on the far side in front of
:48:17. > :48:21.Milevski. -- Bielecki. It's Christiansen who has come out in
:48:22. > :48:29.front of him. Parried away, that wasn't a great shot in fairness. A
:48:30. > :48:34.comfortable height and he was frustrated. Not much power by the
:48:35. > :48:40.looks of it, a combination of landing and suppose, keeping that
:48:41. > :48:43.ball out and now it's Denmark who will come forward, two goals to the
:48:44. > :48:52.good with less than three minutes to go. 40% save rate for the keepers
:48:53. > :49:02.between them, although Lijewski has stood out quite a bit. Hansen
:49:03. > :49:08.brought down, it says free throwing. The clock ticks away relentlessly.
:49:09. > :49:15.The Danes have two on the line. Releases into the wing, just manages
:49:16. > :49:21.to keep it, pasista play being called out. It's stolen this time.
:49:22. > :49:26.-- passive play. He made sure he wasn't touching the ball as he went
:49:27. > :49:30.down and made contact with the ground. Two minutes to go, a two
:49:31. > :49:45.goal deficit on the attack for Poland now. A bit of firepower, a
:49:46. > :49:55.gift. Landing gets it. Let the ball go backwards, long attack. He has
:49:56. > :49:59.come into his own in this extra period of time, a string of good
:50:00. > :50:10.saves although in fairness a couple of very poor shots by the Poles.
:50:11. > :50:14.Another precious shot. There was a quick discussion with the captain.
:50:15. > :50:19.There's the shot, couldn't get the power on it. He was a long way out.
:50:20. > :50:24.Desperation really from Poland when it comes to shooting, not trying to
:50:25. > :50:33.just take their time and build-up, just thinking they'd better shoot. A
:50:34. > :50:38.good safe pair of hands, Sondergaard, brought back on. A
:50:39. > :50:43.veteran. Sucks in two defenders, passes in on the line. Mortensen had
:50:44. > :50:48.come in from the wing and makes a hash of it himself. Keeps Poland's
:50:49. > :50:52.slim chances alive here. One minute 42-macro goals, they'll have to
:50:53. > :50:57.score, and if they do manage to score they will have to do
:50:58. > :51:03.man-to-man defending. He can't pass it around too much, Bielecki. The
:51:04. > :51:11.wingers pushing into the middle, they have to be wider. Get out on
:51:12. > :51:17.the far side. What -- the clock still ticking, Lijewski, it's almost
:51:18. > :51:22.as if they have lost their nerve. Lijewski has scored and maybe, just
:51:23. > :51:32.maybe, they could do it. Man-to-man defending, they have to push up now.
:51:33. > :51:36.Here it is again. He beats Jacobsen. Denmark will just move the ball
:51:37. > :51:45.around, I can't understand that. They've got to push up. Is it
:51:46. > :51:54.stolen? No, it's still with Denmark, Poland not particular in defence,
:51:55. > :52:00.the celebrations have started. Denmark are through to the final of
:52:01. > :52:06.the Rio Olympic Games. The crowd is happy, he's happy to see his team
:52:07. > :52:09.make it through to the final. After extra time in the semifinal, Poland
:52:10. > :52:18.28, Denmark 29. STUDIO:
:52:19. > :52:24.What a finish, Denmark will take on France in the final at 6pm tomorrow.
:52:25. > :52:28.That will take place tomorrow but we shall not be here tomorrow, and the
:52:29. > :52:32.good news to bring you from our cousins on BBC One is that Mo Farah
:52:33. > :52:38.has just won his gold, that's a double 44 Mo Farah. That is Team
:52:39. > :52:44.GB's 65th medal of these Olympic Games, which matches the total from
:52:45. > :52:47.London of four years ago. So few countries are ever able to match
:52:48. > :52:55.after they've hosted. If you look at the stats, Greece one something like
:52:56. > :52:59.75% less than after they hosted in Athens in 2004. Still guaranteed
:53:00. > :53:03.medal for Joe Joyce to come and perhaps one or two more, so an
:53:04. > :53:07.incredible performance from Team GB, matching the medals they won in
:53:08. > :53:11.London four years ago. We are going to leave you on BBC Four on our
:53:12. > :53:15.final night. We've really enjoyed the last 15 days. Many of you have
:53:16. > :53:19.as well, thank you for your messages. A big thank you to the
:53:20. > :53:23.crew down here and also those backing the office, about an hour
:53:24. > :53:27.away from us in Brazil. We want to thank the stars of the programme and
:53:28. > :53:33.all the people we have welcomed onto little table and on the beach,
:53:34. > :53:41.Antony Worrall Thompson look about -- lookalikes, Raphael Maria, who
:53:42. > :53:45.set us up on Saturday night, they Copaca binmen, they are wearing
:53:46. > :53:50.their medals, it's been lovely to get to know residents of Rio. Even a
:53:51. > :53:54.bit of reading on the beach behind us as well, we've had so many
:53:55. > :54:06.magical moments. We have loved every single minute. Time now for the day
:54:07. > :54:09.four headlines on BBC Four. This is nice, there will be no actual in
:54:10. > :54:16.violence involved here, is gentle and fun. Good evening, hello there.
:54:17. > :54:20.Live fishing, what more could you possibly want. Greg Rutherford was
:54:21. > :54:29.doing his business on the far side of the track. Stop laughing, you
:54:30. > :54:35.lot! Massive bin news, massive bin man news, Raphael, Alejandro and
:54:36. > :54:39.Pedro, what a job. We will not zoom in but rest assured, it's not that.
:54:40. > :54:43.Apparently, they are reading a book, they are reading a book in a strange
:54:44. > :54:48.pose. Magnificent scene, maybe that's how you do it in Brazil. A
:54:49. > :55:04.Brazilian hen party. My name is Maria. Where the BBC. BBC? BBC, yes.
:55:05. > :55:08.BBC. Guess who has turned up, it is Maria's mum. See you later, say hi
:55:09. > :55:13.to the family. You're getting married. Antony Worrall Thompson,
:55:14. > :55:19.headphones on, ready to go. Where are you going on your holidays? Here
:55:20. > :55:26.we are talking more about six life, actually. What an absolute wipe-out
:55:27. > :55:33.that was. Is this capoeira? You're bobbing we call it aviation fuel
:55:34. > :55:34.because it's very strong. Look at that, magnificent movement from
:55:35. > :55:51.Antony Worrall Thompson. MUSIC
:55:52. > :55:55.I hope they're not dragging that young fellow into the sea. Never
:55:56. > :56:02.work with children and animals. Are you going to do it? Yes! They've got
:56:03. > :56:08.full beans but but they don't have the regular friendliness of our
:56:09. > :56:19.Copaca binmen -- they have Ball-macro two. BBC, BBC. I think we
:56:20. > :56:24.got away with that. We've had great fun. I wanted to
:56:25. > :56:32.mention those who have helped to put this together on BBC Four, Matt,
:56:33. > :56:36.Chris, Tim, Cameron, Caroline, Julie, Caroline, back in the office,
:56:37. > :56:40.doing a wonderful job, and we can cut up of the camera and introduce
:56:41. > :56:46.this bunch of woodlands to you as well, Marco, sitting down, Kath, who
:56:47. > :56:51.has been a camerawoman running around the beach for others, in the
:56:52. > :56:57.background we have robbed, Gary, Alison and Dan and Carlos, hiding at
:56:58. > :57:02.the back. The man not to mess with, ritzy. Do not mess with Mauricio
:57:03. > :57:06.Lemos Mac but that is it from us on BBC Four, thank you for watching.
:57:07. > :57:10.Our plan when we came here was to try to show you some top sport. I
:57:11. > :57:15.think we've done that but also to bring you a bit of fun, meet locals
:57:16. > :57:18.and to try to give you a flavour of what Rio is really like, because
:57:19. > :57:21.we've loved our time here in this beautiful city, hosting its
:57:22. > :57:26.first-ever Olympic Games. It's great we can say goodbye for us on BBC
:57:27. > :57:39.Four on a night when Rio and Brazil have been able to
:57:40. > :57:43.celebrate the one gold medal that mattered so much to them. Goodbye
:57:44. > :57:45.Brazil, we will see you in Tokyo in four years' time. Do they have a
:57:46. > :59:02.beach in Tokyo? They do! Excellent! We shall see you there, goodbye.
:59:03. > :59:05.The rugby league giants from Hull FC and Warrington
:59:06. > :59:09.go head-to-head at Wembley in the Challenge Cup final.
