:00:29. > :00:43.Once again on the Olympic stage it is Nicola Adams that has prevailed.
:00:44. > :00:53.Bianca Walkden of Great Britain. Big cheer for Mo Farah. He has fallen.
:00:54. > :01:00.Mo Farah wins the gold. Simply wonderful from Mo Farah.
:01:01. > :01:08.Great Britain and Northern Ireland have already beating the medals
:01:09. > :01:12.totals and potentially, the Gold Medal tally, at an away Olympic
:01:13. > :01:15.Games, the team is on the verge of the greatest ever Olympic
:01:16. > :01:20.performance and some of the stars to look out for are the biggest names,
:01:21. > :01:28.Nicola Adams and Mo Farah. It is a wild and windy day here in the Mac.
:01:29. > :01:32.-- Rio. The equivalent of the red arrows overhead has everybody
:01:33. > :01:37.clapping. In terms of British sport, we reflect with sadness, Tom Daley,
:01:38. > :01:42.we were expecting to see him in the final of the ten metres platform and
:01:43. > :01:46.he has not read the Bible. Overall, the British team are performing
:01:47. > :01:49.above expectation. There are always disappointment in sport for the
:01:50. > :01:56.things that do not work out. As you can see from the medal count,
:01:57. > :01:59.already above London and Beijing. It is just extraordinary when you think
:02:00. > :02:05.of the different sports that have won medals. Already today, Liam
:02:06. > :02:11.Heath in the 200 metre kayak sprint took gold and Vicky Holland took
:02:12. > :02:15.bronze in the triathlon. The most successful team is cycling, followed
:02:16. > :02:19.by gymnastics and swimming. Tom Daley was hoping to add to the medal
:02:20. > :02:23.count but in the end he could not make it. He qualified first into the
:02:24. > :02:29.semifinals this morning but was off his game today. He needed a final
:02:30. > :02:34.dive of over 100 points but it was not to be. His landing was just not
:02:35. > :02:38.right. He finished last out of the 18 and failed to qualify for the
:02:39. > :02:43.final. He said afterwards he was heartbroken and it has made him look
:02:44. > :02:46.again at his objectives and he is determined to make it finished
:02:47. > :02:52.differently in Tokyo in four years' time. To night, Nicola Adams in the
:02:53. > :02:57.final once again of the women's flyweight boxing. It is coming up on
:02:58. > :03:01.BBC One very soon. We will be talking to our hockey heroines and
:03:02. > :03:10.reflecting on the tae kwon do loss in the very last as catching up with
:03:11. > :03:14.the 4x100 metres relay team. We'll have Bianca Walkden who is a world
:03:15. > :03:21.champion, our quarterfinal is at 8:30pm. If they get through the
:03:22. > :03:25.semifinals, we will show you the diving, despite Tom Daley being in
:03:26. > :03:29.it. And we will have the bonus of Brazil versus Germany and the final
:03:30. > :03:37.of the football. The Brazilian fans excited about that, on BBC Four will
:03:38. > :03:43.stop the athletics with Mo Farah, is late again. It is worth staying up
:03:44. > :03:50.to 1:30am. Nicola Adams is coming next with her massive smile in the
:03:51. > :03:51.boxing ring. We have inside the reigning Olympic superheavyweight
:03:52. > :03:57.champion, Anthony Joshua, with John Inverdale.
:03:58. > :04:06.I am sure the family of Mull and other related about his build-up. He
:04:07. > :04:11.was the last British man to win back-to-back Olympic titles in 1920
:04:12. > :04:17.and 1924, Anthony Mullally. I am sure his family and descendants will
:04:18. > :04:21.have told many people about how he trained at a boxing club in Hackney
:04:22. > :04:28.in the East End of London. That boxing club no longer exists. It now
:04:29. > :04:33.forms part of the Olympic Park. Four years ago, Nicola Adams won her
:04:34. > :04:37.first gold medal in London. Harry had to make the short hop from
:04:38. > :04:46.Belgium to France to win his two medals, Nicola has gone from London
:04:47. > :04:53.to Rio. When I look in the mirror, I see a person that has been through
:04:54. > :04:57.hard times, struggled. I also see a person that when I have had all of
:04:58. > :05:04.these struggles, I had been able to get back up. It is not how you go
:05:05. > :05:08.down it is how you get back up. My introduction with boxing, I guess,
:05:09. > :05:14.was with my dad and the rest of the family. Sat round the TV, watching
:05:15. > :05:17.the big fights. And seeing replays of Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray
:05:18. > :05:22.Leonard winning their gold medals at the Olympics. Some of the
:05:23. > :05:31.professional world title fights as well. Some of the other girls that I
:05:32. > :05:36.train with, they have been turned away from gymnasiums, we do not
:05:37. > :05:41.train girls here. I was lucky. My coach didn't mind. He said, you will
:05:42. > :05:48.be treated the same as all the other boxers. That was fine, that was all
:05:49. > :05:50.I wanted. We are on the cusp of a profoundly significant moment
:05:51. > :05:56.because for the first time, women will compete in an Olympic boxing
:05:57. > :06:00.final at the Olympic Games. To become an Olympic boxer, the
:06:01. > :06:04.setbacks for me was that it was not an Olympic sport, it did not have
:06:05. > :06:10.funding and we did not get support. My mum had to fund a lots of my
:06:11. > :06:14.travelling, going away to training camps, petrol money. It added up to
:06:15. > :06:19.a lot, especially for the single parent. I knew how much the entire
:06:20. > :06:24.family had to sacrifice to get the error I am today. Nicola Adams has
:06:25. > :06:29.just made history. It meant absolutely everything to me.
:06:30. > :06:33.Everything I had to face, to think about now I am on top of the podium
:06:34. > :06:39.with a Gold Medal after all of these struggles, it was a dream come true,
:06:40. > :06:42.it really was. Nicola Adams of Great Britain is the Olympic champion. I
:06:43. > :06:47.think I have inspired so many people because they have seen that I come
:06:48. > :06:51.from a normal, working-class family. I have shown that with hard work and
:06:52. > :06:57.dedication you can achieve anything. You have to be prepared to get up
:06:58. > :06:59.and do the work. The first part of the Mission accomplished, Nicola
:07:00. > :07:04.Adams is through to the final for the second successive Olympic Games.
:07:05. > :07:08.I would like to call myself a double Olympic champion. I want to be the
:07:09. > :07:17.most accomplished amateur boxer we have had. I want that little bit of
:07:18. > :07:22.icing on the cake. It is just three minutes until the moment of truth
:07:23. > :07:25.for Nicola Adams. Anthony Joshua is here. What is it like in these last
:07:26. > :07:32.few Mormons before going into the ring for an Olympic final? For
:07:33. > :07:35.Nicola, she is such a bubbly person and lovely character, she has been
:07:36. > :07:41.in some walls and had some tough fights. She would have been fresh
:07:42. > :07:45.earlier on. It'll be interesting to see how her body has held up.
:07:46. > :07:52.Hopefully her legs are not heavy and shoulders are not too sure. -- so.
:07:53. > :07:55.She got rid of the biggest threat in the tournament so I hope she goes
:07:56. > :08:01.out and enjoys it. She has passed the toughest test and that she gets
:08:02. > :08:04.the win today. Harper 's contest was catchy, she said, rest assured I
:08:05. > :08:08.will get better as the competition goes on as the ring rust is God. Can
:08:09. > :08:16.you identify with that? I definitely agree. The first time, sometimes,
:08:17. > :08:22.you are overanxious. Something does not click the first thing you fight.
:08:23. > :08:28.If you get the decision, the ball starts rolling. For Nicola, she can
:08:29. > :08:33.only improve. She has had a tough is about. Hopefully, the lady that
:08:34. > :08:36.could repeat, she overcame that soda should be straightforward, God
:08:37. > :08:40.willing. You say that she is bubbly, she knows the enormity of what she
:08:41. > :08:45.might achieve, is that a danger that it weighs too heavily on her? Of
:08:46. > :08:50.course. Double Olympian, all the pressure on how that comes with
:08:51. > :08:57.that. On the outside, I am standing here and join the boxing, I am as
:08:58. > :09:01.cold as ice. For Nicola, she will be buzzing and given so much energy. As
:09:02. > :09:05.long as she can keep a lid on it and let it out in the ring, do not let
:09:06. > :09:10.the nerves get to her, I think she is very capable of winning. Here she
:09:11. > :09:15.is now, smiling once again. Look at the support, so many people here for
:09:16. > :09:19.her today. Even the Brazilians are familiar with her because they love
:09:20. > :09:22.boxing. She does not look at overawed by the occasion, when she
:09:23. > :09:28.is relishing the prospect of pottable unfold over the next 12
:09:29. > :09:33.minutes. If there is one danger, one caveat you will put on today, what
:09:34. > :09:40.will that be? She is a good attacking fighter. When I was
:09:41. > :09:43.watching her, you think that she does not do anything when resting
:09:44. > :09:47.and then out of the blue she will explode with punch combinations. As
:09:48. > :09:54.long as the legs are not too heavy and she is still sharp on her legs,
:09:55. > :09:58.when the opponent starts to have four punch combinations, she can get
:09:59. > :10:03.out of danger. I hope she is fresh, had her physiotherapy, ate well and
:10:04. > :10:15.then she has recovered. Will this be yet another Gold Medal for Team GB?
:10:16. > :10:21.COMMENTATOR: Final moments of introspection for Nicola Adams.
:10:22. > :10:26.Final moments of instruction from Dave, Harcourt, in the red corner.
:10:27. > :10:30.Nicola Adams looking to join a short list of Olympic auxin legends taking
:10:31. > :10:42.a brace of titles in the boxing ring. -- Olympic boxing legends.
:10:43. > :10:54.Representing Great Britain, Nicola Adams.
:10:55. > :11:03.Introducing, the boxer in the blue corner, representing France... Sarah
:11:04. > :11:27.Ourahmoune. Head up, no low blows. Shake hands
:11:28. > :11:31.and good luck. But that touch of God, this Olympic gold-medal bout
:11:32. > :11:37.about to get underway. -- touch of clubs.
:11:38. > :11:44.Here we go. The first of a scheduled four two minute rounds in the 51
:11:45. > :11:48.kilograms flyweight final is being contested between boxers from France
:11:49. > :11:53.and Great Britain. The boxer in dread is looking to score with that
:11:54. > :11:56.educated left hand, Nicola Adams, the reigning Olympic champion from
:11:57. > :12:01.London. The reigning world champion from Kazakhstan earlier this year.
:12:02. > :12:06.Opponent in blue is Sarah Ourahmoune, ranked 15th in the world
:12:07. > :12:10.and she comes in as a bronze medal from the World Championship having
:12:11. > :12:15.taking silver at the 48 kilograms weight in 2008. Anticipating your
:12:16. > :12:21.opponent's tactics is crucial in any match in this tournament. Nicola
:12:22. > :12:26.Adams will be expecting a comfortable win on the front foot.
:12:27. > :12:30.She is the shorter boxer, the French girl, so she will try to get inside
:12:31. > :12:34.Nicola Adams and force the pace. Nice little right hand over the top.
:12:35. > :12:38.Nicola Adams has to be accurate with the jab. She has to keep her
:12:39. > :12:45.opponent at distance, backend that lead hand. If she can do that, she
:12:46. > :12:50.will not have any real problems. This is the Olympic final so it will
:12:51. > :12:54.put an extra 10-20% on your opponent's performance. Expect Sarah
:12:55. > :13:01.Ourahmoune to come quickly on that front. Nicola Adams has targeted
:13:02. > :13:06.both the head and the body from the left and right flanks. Cracking
:13:07. > :13:10.right hand from Sarah Ourahmoune as she got inside the longer reach of
:13:11. > :13:15.the boxer in red. These two women have met four times before prior to
:13:16. > :13:22.this final. Nicola Adams has been victorious in all four of the
:13:23. > :13:25.contests. She needs to get her time in better. Sarah Ourahmoune is
:13:26. > :13:29.coming forward. She is targeting the right hand. She has to measure with
:13:30. > :13:40.the jab and bring her on to the right uppercut. She has to improve
:13:41. > :13:44.her accuracy, Nicola Adams. Nicola Adams starting briskly in the
:13:45. > :13:52.opening round, scoring to both body and head. Let us see if we can
:13:53. > :13:59.listen in to the red corner. Sharp 12, jab. Take guard. Overhand right.
:14:00. > :14:05.The court saying that the jab is the key. Sarah Ourahmoune is looking for
:14:06. > :14:10.the overhand right. He wants an accurate punch with the left hand.
:14:11. > :14:15.To keep the opponent off balance, one of the jobs that are jab does as
:14:16. > :14:19.well as scoring points. These are the scores. Across the board for
:14:20. > :14:37.Adams. She needs to keep it going. The left-hander is crucial.
:14:38. > :14:47.Into the second round. Nicola Adams sweeping the opening round
:14:48. > :14:51.unanimously, 10-9 from all three judges. Five judges are seated
:14:52. > :14:54.ringside and chosen randomly before the opening bell and those cores are
:14:55. > :15:02.used to determine the outcome of each fight. -- those scores. Nicola
:15:03. > :15:08.Adams showing her talents. She is boxing well on the outside but she
:15:09. > :15:17.can rough it up on the inside. That is why she is Olympic champion, she
:15:18. > :15:21.can mix it when she needs to. She will have to. This French opponent
:15:22. > :15:26.will be determined. Again Adams comes back with the better work.
:15:27. > :15:30.Terrific variety being shown by Adams. She started the round on the
:15:31. > :15:34.back foot, on the perimeter of the ring, then changing the tactics and
:15:35. > :15:41.getting onto the front foot and driving Sarah Ourahmoune backwards.
:15:42. > :15:46.Sarah Ourahmoune facing a difficult has to try to get inside the longer
:15:47. > :15:51.arms and disrupt the timing being demonstrated by the boxer in red. I
:15:52. > :15:56.spoke about that right uppercut in the first round and she delivered a
:15:57. > :16:01.lovely shot, Adams, to the midsection. Lovely one-two. The
:16:02. > :16:05.accuracy is better from Adams. It is difficult to get to her if she hits
:16:06. > :16:08.you at long range. Difficult for Sarah Ourahmoune to close the gap
:16:09. > :16:17.down. That is why the accuracy is spot on at the moment from Adams.
:16:18. > :16:24.A difficult task for Ourahmoune, Adams retreating beyond punching
:16:25. > :16:29.distance. She will have a sense that she has conceded the opening round,
:16:30. > :16:35.wonderful 1-2 from Adams, who was finding her rhythm and timing
:16:36. > :16:39.wonderfully in this gold medal bout. So Ourahmoune with only sporadic
:16:40. > :16:41.success once again, Nicola Adams picking her punches wonderfully
:16:42. > :16:48.throughout the course of that second round.
:16:49. > :16:53.So halfway to a gold medal, happy with the way things have gone so
:16:54. > :16:57.far? Most definitely, in the first round I think she was down three
:16:58. > :17:01.points, I will keep it real, two phenomenal fighters, it is close,
:17:02. > :17:04.but what I'm saying is that the French lady's boxing in
:17:05. > :17:16.combinations, so she will wait, have spurt. I would say that Nicki is
:17:17. > :17:25.keeping busy, and I think that is what the judges like - someone who
:17:26. > :17:27.counterpunches. Four rounds of two minutes, hopefully she will be even
:17:28. > :17:42.and can start taking the lead now. Round three. Two rounds completed,
:17:43. > :17:46.two to go, and both of the completed rounds have been scored in favour of
:17:47. > :17:52.the reigning Olympic champion, Nicola Adams, who has devastated the
:17:53. > :17:57.greater variety, and superior ringcraft. But expect Ourahmoune to
:17:58. > :18:01.pretty soon adopt an all or nothing approach in her efforts to get onto
:18:02. > :18:07.the top spot of the Olympic medal podium. You said it, tactics predict
:18:08. > :18:14.from the French boxer, she will come forward. Nicki has to keep on the
:18:15. > :18:19.end of the jab, just to beat. Ourahmoune, going forward, has got
:18:20. > :18:26.to move her head, try to work downstairs with Nicola. If Nicki
:18:27. > :18:30.Adams is boxing in the ring, she can be difficult to get to, she has got
:18:31. > :18:38.a full range of movement. Ourahmoune has got to try to move back to the
:18:39. > :18:43.ropes for success. Adams continuing to work with the left jab,
:18:44. > :18:46.Ourahmoune getting closer with the parking punches, as she made Nicola
:18:47. > :18:53.Adams fall short. Ourahmoune one of two women on the French boxing team,
:18:54. > :18:57.along with eight men, her female counterpart claimed gold yesterday
:18:58. > :19:00.in the lightweight category, 60 kilograms. How much inspiration will
:19:01. > :19:06.Ourahmoune take from that as she looks to overturn a two points
:19:07. > :19:16.deficit on all three scorecards. Good left jab from Ourahmoune.
:19:17. > :19:22.Ourahmoune is having slight success here and there, but Adams just put
:19:23. > :19:25.her in her place, got on the back foot. Occasionally, you see Nicki
:19:26. > :19:31.Adams holding her feet, prepared to stand and trade a little bit. As I
:19:32. > :19:39.said before, Adams on the outside, this is a good performance again
:19:40. > :19:44.from Adams. So more success for the boxer in blue, but Nicola Adams
:19:45. > :19:48.continuing to land at catching straight punches. Plenty of support
:19:49. > :19:55.in attendance for the British boxer. All appears calm over in the red
:19:56. > :20:00.corner. Some good stuff from Adams, that is a nice shot, Ourahmoune did
:20:01. > :20:03.have some success, right hand was not too far away. Adams
:20:04. > :20:11.counterattacking, beating her opponent to the bunch, stepping
:20:12. > :20:15.inside, good right hand. Princeton -- she's going to have to box the
:20:16. > :20:19.contest of her life, she will have to either knock Adams out or
:20:20. > :20:24.four-day stoppage, which is going to be very difficult. So Ourahmoune
:20:25. > :20:30.with that increased success has swept round three across the, just
:20:31. > :20:39.one point in it, Adams in front 29-28 for all three judges. So into
:20:40. > :20:45.the fourth and final round of his gold medal bout in the 51 kilograms
:20:46. > :20:49.flyweight division, and Nicola Adams has conceded the round that has just
:20:50. > :20:52.preceded this one, and Ourahmoune has taken inspiration from that and
:20:53. > :20:56.has come out in aggressive mood to begin this fourth and final round,
:20:57. > :21:01.landing effectively with the right hand. Given the status of the
:21:02. > :21:06.contest, Adams cannot afford to box protect a lead, and that is why it
:21:07. > :21:11.changes, not tidy, but the exchange is close to the ropes. Adams has got
:21:12. > :21:16.to get back to medium and long range, that is a strength. We said
:21:17. > :21:20.she was an all-rounder, but that is her strength, on the outside. Good
:21:21. > :21:25.straight shot from Adams, that is what you has got to do, hit the
:21:26. > :21:30.opponent as she guns, concentrate and get the accurate shots, made too
:21:31. > :21:35.long, rather than on the inside. The referee allowing the boxes to work
:21:36. > :21:40.away at close range, perhaps worth pointing out that she had an 11 day
:21:41. > :21:47.wait to get her Olympic campaign under way. She did they'd notably in
:21:48. > :21:52.the fourth and final round, but still won convincingly against the
:21:53. > :21:58.Ukrainian. -- she did fade. Cannot afford a similar fate here, this is
:21:59. > :22:02.a third contest, all her experience being put to the test, Ourahmoune
:22:03. > :22:07.trying to work away at close range. Nicky Adams just making a mistake,
:22:08. > :22:10.after she has landed a shot, she falls into her opponent, and
:22:11. > :22:16.Ourahmoune wants to work at close range. Three four from the French
:22:17. > :22:20.boxer, Adams has got to start using that right hook, adjust the beat,
:22:21. > :22:25.bring her opponent onto the shots, but she has got to compete. Both
:22:26. > :22:32.boxers skilfully extracting the best from one another, into the fourth
:22:33. > :22:37.and final round, who can produce the final moment of quality? Cracking
:22:38. > :22:42.right hand from Ourahmoune. Incredibly tight gold medal bout
:22:43. > :22:48.between two familiar rivals. At the end of the third round, Nicola Adams
:22:49. > :22:52.led by one for all three judges, and Ourahmoune mounted a spirited rally
:22:53. > :22:57.in the fourth and final round. It is incredibly tight, what do the judges
:22:58. > :23:05.prefer? How will let's cool that final two minutes? It was tough, it
:23:06. > :23:09.was close. -- how will they score. I think she just did enough to win
:23:10. > :23:14.that last round, Ourahmoune was on the front foot, forcing it, but she
:23:15. > :23:21.worked better on the inside, Adams better at mid and long. Very close,
:23:22. > :23:27.but I think Nicola Adams did enough, eye-catching quality work, and that
:23:28. > :23:33.will hopefully see her through. Nervous moments for both of the
:23:34. > :23:38.boxers now. Incredibly keenly contested affair for Olympic gold.
:23:39. > :23:50.Who's hand will be raised? Who will be declared as Olympic champion? --
:23:51. > :23:51.whose. Ladies and gentlemen, the winner by unanimous decision and
:23:52. > :24:12.Olympic champion... In the red corner, Nicola Adams!
:24:13. > :24:17.Nicola Adams lets out a triumphant roar, having been crowned as Olympic
:24:18. > :24:23.champion for the second successive time! She joins an exclusive club,
:24:24. > :24:27.reserved only for boxers with impeccable Olympic credentials, a
:24:28. > :24:31.fantastic performance to edge her name or indelibly into the annals of
:24:32. > :24:37.Olympic boxing history by becoming the first woman to win two Olympic
:24:38. > :24:43.titles in the boxing ring. The Adams shovel in evidence, shadow-boxing
:24:44. > :24:53.beneath the ring lights, she is elated, she has emulated the
:24:54. > :24:58.achievements of the boxer in 1920 and 1924. Absolutely sensational
:24:59. > :25:04.performance, and now she can add her name to the list of luminaries that
:25:05. > :25:12.includes five Cubans, and outstanding legends of the game, so
:25:13. > :25:17.many more throughout the years. It is a short list, and Nicola Adams
:25:18. > :25:24.has just added her name to it, posing triumphantly with Gary and
:25:25. > :25:28.David, and how much credit did they deserve for guiding and instructing
:25:29. > :25:31.Nicola Adams through to her second successive Olympic crown? It is
:25:32. > :25:35.Nicola Adams who had to perform the need the ring lights and execute
:25:36. > :25:40.those instructions, and she has done so to perfection to claim her second
:25:41. > :25:41.successive Olympic title and join the ranks of the Olympic boxing
:25:42. > :25:54.immortals. And here comes Nicola Adams! Just
:25:55. > :25:58.getting her accreditation put around her neck, we are allowed a very
:25:59. > :26:05.quick chat with the Olympic boxing champion for the second time, many,
:26:06. > :26:09.many congratulations! A hug from Anthony Joshua, well done, the gold
:26:10. > :26:12.rush continues. The gold rush continues, I cannot believe it, I'm
:26:13. > :26:17.officially the most accomplished amateur boxer we have ever had, like
:26:18. > :26:20.ever, and it is such an amazing feeling. I would just like to say
:26:21. > :26:24.thank you to everybody that has supported me, my mum, my brother,
:26:25. > :26:30.happy birthday to my coach's daughter. Thank you for all the hard
:26:31. > :26:35.work you have put in over the years. We made it! The hard work that you
:26:36. > :26:40.put in, can you compare that with London? Yeah, definitely, it is well
:26:41. > :26:44.up there. I would probably say they are both on the same level, it takes
:26:45. > :26:49.a lot to win an Olympic medal, especially to be able to do it
:26:50. > :26:53.twice. I would like to thank everybody, the coaching staff,
:26:54. > :26:57.everyone. Talking about everyone, it is almost the end of the Olympic
:26:58. > :27:00.Games, and you have watched hours of television with Great Britain
:27:01. > :27:06.winning medals all over the place, how much was that an inspiration to
:27:07. > :27:10.you as well? Oh, yeah, definitely, especially seeing Mo Farah fall
:27:11. > :27:14.down, get up, show determination to win his gold medal. You are on that
:27:15. > :27:22.podium again very shortly, we will talk to you later on. Well done,
:27:23. > :27:28.Nicola, fantastic. I think the protocol, we are rushing
:27:29. > :27:32.through it, we had better have a quick chat, Anthony, how worried
:27:33. > :27:36.were you? The French girl came back in the third round, and the fourth
:27:37. > :27:46.round was a bit nip and tuck. She'd done what we expected, Nicki was the
:27:47. > :27:49.counterpuncher, keeping busy, being patient, picking her shots wisely,
:27:50. > :27:57.but snow fight in yelling that final is going to be easy, you know? The
:27:58. > :28:00.margins, two of the most elite boxers in the ring together, it was
:28:01. > :28:05.a very good fight, and I'm really happy with Nicki, the most decorated
:28:06. > :28:08.amateur we have ever had. You can probably hear there is a stupendous
:28:09. > :28:14.atmosphere for the next bout, which is the men's bantamweight final, and
:28:15. > :28:18.going back heaven knows how many generations, the USA against Cuba,
:28:19. > :28:22.there is something very special about this rivalry, historically,
:28:23. > :28:27.politically and everything else. Amazingly, the USA have not won in
:28:28. > :28:34.amateur boxing for three Olympiads, since Athens. So it is Stevenson who
:28:35. > :28:44.will break that right? This could be the fight of the whole event.
:28:45. > :28:49.COMMENTATOR: What the matchup we have. The long-standing Olympic
:28:50. > :29:05.boxing rivalry between Cuba and the USA.
:29:06. > :29:11.REFEREE: You know the rules, keep your heads up and your punches up.
:29:12. > :29:16.Protect cells at all times. Shake hands and luck. The referee is
:29:17. > :29:24.Darren McFarlane with the final instructions. An excerpt -- an
:29:25. > :29:30.exhilarating bantamweight bout between boxers from the USA and
:29:31. > :29:35.Cuba. Here we go. The 56 kilograms bantamweight final is being
:29:36. > :29:40.contested between boxers from the USA and Cuba, the first gold-medal
:29:41. > :29:50.bout featuring boxers from these nations since Atlanta, 1996. The man
:29:51. > :29:54.in the front foot, the southpaw, is Robeisy Ramirez. He is the reigning
:29:55. > :29:58.Olympic champion from the 52 kilograms flyweight division four
:29:59. > :30:04.years ago in London. The man in red, also a southpaw, Shakur Stevenson,
:30:05. > :30:10.19 years of age and the number four seed in the tournament. He is yet to
:30:11. > :30:18.lose in Olympic competition. It is a fantastic matchup between two
:30:19. > :30:22.skilful operators. Two boxers with similar ability. Both are southpaw
:30:23. > :30:30.is what speed. They also have a great jab. The lead hand for each
:30:31. > :30:34.boxer is the strength. Robeisy Ramirez has started better and put
:30:35. > :30:40.his opponent on the back foot 2-3 times. This Cuban has got the jab of
:30:41. > :30:46.the tournament and a successful with that lead, the basic of all shots.
:30:47. > :30:52.He sets matter up with the back can very well after the jab has landed.
:30:53. > :30:58.His opponent is similar, fast hands, this American. He has a low lead
:30:59. > :31:02.hand so he is vulnerable to a left hand over the top against a southpaw
:31:03. > :31:11.opponent. It will shape up to be a cracker, this one. Shakur Stevenson
:31:12. > :31:14.is still only 19 and was the 20 13th male boxer of the year. He comes in
:31:15. > :31:19.as a reigning world youth championship gold man -- red list
:31:20. > :31:26.and reigning junior Olympic champion. Robeisy Ramirez got the
:31:27. > :31:30.same titles back in 2010. That gives you the idea of how both men had
:31:31. > :31:36.maybe seamless transition from the injury drags to the seniors. Robeisy
:31:37. > :31:45.Ramirez looking to put his great experience into play. It is a new
:31:46. > :31:52.experience for the man in red to be dating somebody this talented. -- to
:31:53. > :31:58.be facing. Shakur Stevenson is waiting to long. The Cuban has the
:31:59. > :32:03.tactics spot on, keeping the opponent on the back foot. Stevenson
:32:04. > :32:09.is quick. He has been beaten to the punch. The Cuban has got more
:32:10. > :32:10.propriety to stop he can manoeuvre with his feet and is moving his
:32:11. > :32:20.head. -- got more bird rioted. Ten seconds to go. Both men are
:32:21. > :32:41.taught at all. I think that will please the score.
:32:42. > :32:54.He has started the contest well on that front foot. The double jab
:32:55. > :32:59.sends his opponent backwards. He just misses with that shot. The
:33:00. > :33:05.Cuban is tricky. He is good on his feet. He has fast hands. Good on the
:33:06. > :33:10.inside as well, Robeisy Ramirez. He demonstrated it there. Shakur
:33:11. > :33:15.Stevenson got cot with some shots. This is boxing I am afraid. Let us
:33:16. > :33:24.look at the scores. Across the board for the Cuban. That is good judging.
:33:25. > :33:33.REFEREE: Watch your heads, keep your heads up. Into the second round.
:33:34. > :33:38.Shakur Stevenson came out of the blocks. Defeat came together
:33:39. > :33:43.momentarily but he used his instincts to get back out of
:33:44. > :33:51.Puncheon Grange. He conceded the opening round across the board. --
:33:52. > :33:55.out of punching range. He keeps smiling now and again when he is
:33:56. > :34:02.caught with big shots. He should be concentrating more. He is crabby on
:34:03. > :34:11.the inside. Robeisy Ramirez does the better work on the inside. Shakur
:34:12. > :34:18.Stevenson has been in the company of Floyd Mayweather January, -- Floyd
:34:19. > :34:21.Mayweather Junior, the money man. He had that incredible record as a
:34:22. > :34:27.professional and he wants this man in red to be the face of Money
:34:28. > :34:33.Promotions for years to come. Back one has not decided what his future
:34:34. > :34:36.holds. He is time to get Olympic gold. He is against a reigning
:34:37. > :34:49.champion from London four years ago. Shakur Stevenson decided to box
:34:50. > :35:07.behind both hands, momentarily. Cracking left hand from Stevenson.
:35:08. > :35:11.Both boxers are more circumspect in this round. Stevenson looking to
:35:12. > :35:20.overturn the one-point deficit that he faces after the first round from
:35:21. > :35:24.all three judges. Robeisy Ramirez, on occasion, he can get his
:35:25. > :35:29.opponents and opportunity. He does elect to hold his feet and weight,
:35:30. > :35:34.and cover-up to block and repel blows without letting his own off in
:35:35. > :35:38.school. His approach is better. His movement with defeat is good. The
:35:39. > :35:42.way that he adjusted his feet. Also the movement from the waist, Robeisy
:35:43. > :35:50.Ramirez. Better shot from Stevenson. He is getting into the contest now.
:35:51. > :35:54.So much thought behind each one of these attempted attacks from both
:35:55. > :35:58.boxers. Look at how they are both being made to mess. They are being
:35:59. > :36:03.as cautious and thoughtful as they are because a mistake at this level
:36:04. > :36:12.will be capitalised on instantly. Good two shot salvo to the body from
:36:13. > :36:14.Stevenson. Those men standing flat-footed even though they are
:36:15. > :36:20.wonderful movers around the boxing ring. Studying one another, looking
:36:21. > :36:26.to find that opening, to find a home for their punches.
:36:27. > :36:34.More success in that round for the man in red. How will the judges see
:36:35. > :36:39.it? Little bit better from Stevenson. Especially that
:36:40. > :36:43.last-minute. He is getting to grips with it. He is struggling with the
:36:44. > :36:52.movement of Robeisy Ramirez, the movement from his waist. He had more
:36:53. > :36:55.success on the inside, Stevenson. This is the movement from Robeisy
:36:56. > :37:00.Ramirez. He is clipped on the way out. His approach with that bit of
:37:01. > :37:10.movement from the waist, it gets him out of trouble. He is a talented
:37:11. > :37:16.man. Let us look at the scores. Stevenson across the border. It was
:37:17. > :37:29.a better round. We are in for one hell of a last round.
:37:30. > :37:36.This 56 kilograms bantamweight gold-medal bout has came down to a
:37:37. > :37:41.three minute shoot out. The man in blue, Robeisy Ramirez, the reigning
:37:42. > :37:46.Olympic champion at 52 kilograms from London, took the opening round
:37:47. > :37:50.3-0. Stevenson responded magnificently to take the second
:37:51. > :37:55.round by the same margin. We are tied up 19-19 from all judges. This
:37:56. > :37:59.gold-medal bout has came down to this. Terrific way to jab from
:38:00. > :38:05.Robeisy Ramirez. Robeisy Ramirez knows he had a bad second round and
:38:06. > :38:10.is raising the tempo. Can Stevenson go with him? He will go through the
:38:11. > :38:19.gears. We have seen it many times by the Cubans. A burst of acceleration.
:38:20. > :38:25.An injection of speed. Stevenson himself is a very fast operator.
:38:26. > :38:32.This last round, who can find the quality punches, who can raise their
:38:33. > :38:39.game? Shakur Stevenson, looking to become the first US man to claim
:38:40. > :38:42.gold in a senior Olympic tournament since Andre Ward, the self-styled
:38:43. > :38:54.son of God who is undefeated in the professional ranks.
:38:55. > :39:02.In Shakur Stevenson, they have got a very bright prospect indeed. In this
:39:03. > :39:06.type of contest, it is very close. We have to be able to push the
:39:07. > :39:09.opponent back. This is the last round and you have to leave an
:39:10. > :39:12.impression in the mind of the judges. The fighter on the front
:39:13. > :39:16.foot will win the contest. You have to get that through to your boxer.
:39:17. > :39:22.It is Robeisy Ramirez on the front foot, doing the better work. This
:39:23. > :39:26.American has to despond. He has two races game and pushed the Cuban back
:39:27. > :39:29.if he is to be the winner. Robeisy Ramirez at there is winning the
:39:30. > :39:34.round because of that front foot Peche. The left hand from Stevenson
:39:35. > :39:44.was good and then he got a long straight right to the body. Good jab
:39:45. > :39:47.again. Effective punch backing from Stevenson who looks at his red
:39:48. > :39:55.corner, deep inside this third round. Robeisy Ramirez again made to
:39:56. > :39:59.Ms. He is the Olympic champion from 2012 and he has the speeding is.
:40:00. > :40:04.That is why he is going for it. Stevenson has to rally with them.
:40:05. > :40:11.The crew to attempting to go through the gears. Stevenson is looking to
:40:12. > :40:14.tie up his man. Terrific three shot salvo from Stevenson. The final
:40:15. > :40:20.right hook to the body was a good shot. Last ten seconds. Who can
:40:21. > :40:33.produce the grandstand finish? What a contest we have witnessed.
:40:34. > :40:48.Both men displaying immense concentration. So focused, they made
:40:49. > :40:53.a laser beam look like a nightly. -- night-light. It was all tied after
:40:54. > :40:56.two. The last round was tense. It was a classic case of experience
:40:57. > :41:03.that got Robeisy Ramirez over the line. That was my opinion. He did
:41:04. > :41:07.the better work on the front foot. This American, Shakur Stevenson, he
:41:08. > :41:11.is a talent. He was speaking to Floyd Mayweather before the contest.
:41:12. > :41:16.He needed to box better for me. The body language from both boxers
:41:17. > :41:19.suggested that Robeisy Ramirez knows that the hazard and I think he boxed
:41:20. > :41:36.better in the last round. We shall see.
:41:37. > :41:43.Ladies and gentlemen, the winner by split decision and the Olympic
:41:44. > :42:06.champion... In the blue corner, Shakur
:42:07. > :42:13.Stevenson. -- 42. -- Robeisy Ramirez. Robeisy Ramirez just
:42:14. > :42:18.becomes the first man to win medals at bantamweight and flyweight. What
:42:19. > :42:21.a wonderful accomplishment. Shakur Stevenson experiences a loss for the
:42:22. > :42:27.first time in Olympic competition. He is just 19 years of age. Whether
:42:28. > :42:31.at the Olympic boxing ranks of in the professional ranks, we are sure
:42:32. > :42:35.to see this man again. This moment belongs to Robeisy Ramirez who joins
:42:36. > :42:40.the five other Cubans who can claim two gold medals in the boxing ring.
:42:41. > :42:41.A wonderful accomplishment. Robeisy Ramirez is the bantamweight
:42:42. > :42:52.champion. That was a flamboyant celebration at
:42:53. > :42:56.the end of a fantastic fight. The energy here is unbelievable. There
:42:57. > :43:02.is a long has to be between Cuba and the USA. I liked to see all of that
:43:03. > :43:08.passion and build-up over the last 20 years was displayed. There was so
:43:09. > :43:12.much technique between the two. Phenomenal fighters and they are so
:43:13. > :43:17.young. They will be excellent because they have got the job --
:43:18. > :43:23.long career to develop. The legacy of the boxing in Cuba, he will be a
:43:24. > :43:26.national hero. The already national heroes due to the fact of Fidel
:43:27. > :43:32.Castro invested so much time in sport. This is the first time the
:43:33. > :43:38.USA and Cuba have boxed in over 20 years. I want to see more of these
:43:39. > :43:43.competitions. This is country versus country, this is the Olympics.
:43:44. > :43:50.Everyone has to witness this fight. I am glad you did. It was a great
:43:51. > :43:53.contest. Come back in a few moments time for the gold-medal winning
:43:54. > :43:56.smile to end all gold-medal moving smiles from Nicola Adams.
:43:57. > :44:07.It was a fabulous moment will stop another Gold Medal. Let us look at
:44:08. > :44:14.the table. Britain moving ahead of China. United States out in front
:44:15. > :44:21.with 39 gold and 106 in total. 26 gold medals for Great Britain and 63
:44:22. > :44:24.in total, two away... It is extraordinary. We are getting so
:44:25. > :44:28.close to the greatest ever Olympic Games for British athletes which is
:44:29. > :44:32.quite something. 9 million of you tuned in last night to watch Great
:44:33. > :44:36.Britain's women try to win a hockey gold medal for the first time. They
:44:37. > :44:39.were up against the two-time reigning champions was the
:44:40. > :44:41.Netherlands. If you think watching at home was tense, what about being
:44:42. > :44:52.in the stands? We are ready here for blood, sweat
:44:53. > :44:59.and tears one way or the other. Hold tight, here we go!
:45:00. > :45:07.The gold medal on the line, it has been intercepted by the Netherlands,
:45:08. > :45:16.penalty stroke for the Dutch. Oh, it has been saved, Hinch to the rescue,
:45:17. > :45:19.what a start for the Great Britain goalkeeper! Helen Richardson-Walsh
:45:20. > :45:23.in the centre of the circle, off the legs, and this time it is scored,
:45:24. > :45:32.Great Britain are in front, Lily Owsley strikes. We know Holland is
:45:33. > :45:38.normally school, make sure we keep them out, this is our day. -- score.
:45:39. > :45:48.The Dutch are inside the circle, inches out, the angle, it is a goal.
:45:49. > :45:54.Hit, it is a goal for the Netherlands, 2-1 in front.
:45:55. > :46:03.Great Britain on a rare attack. Now a chance for Cullen, Cullen has
:46:04. > :46:10.scored! Crista Cullen brings Great Britain level! I have been here 12
:46:11. > :46:16.hours. Yeah, we wouldn't miss the final. That gold medal is not going
:46:17. > :46:23.to come easy for any side, all credit to the girls, they are
:46:24. > :46:32.working very hard. This time they strike, and the Dutch lead. I think
:46:33. > :46:37.we just need to get the ball up into the 25, we can be really dangerous.
:46:38. > :46:43.And now they have an opportunity, push forward, and score! Great
:46:44. > :46:54.Britain level! Adages Nicola White on the far post. -- and it is. Four,
:46:55. > :47:00.three, two, one! The gold medal game is going to a penalty shoot out. I
:47:01. > :47:05.have faith in this team, Maddie Hinch can do it, I have so much
:47:06. > :47:14.confidence in this team, and so do these guys. Let's go, GB, let's go!
:47:15. > :47:16.Lets go, GB, let's go! First penalty of the shoot out, Helen
:47:17. > :47:30.Richardson-Walsh on her way, holds it up. Saved and behind.
:47:31. > :47:38.Bos versus Hinch, Maddie Hinch, absolutely brilliant! Bray brought
:47:39. > :47:44.down, penalty stroke. Helen Richardson-Walsh scores, Great
:47:45. > :47:55.Britain are off the mark in the shoot out! Hinch pushes it away.
:47:56. > :48:03.Watching it every step of the way, she has missed. Hollie Webb scores.
:48:04. > :48:13.Hollie Webb on her way to win gold for Great Britain. She turns and
:48:14. > :48:15.scores, it is the golden goal, Great Britain have won the Olympic gold
:48:16. > :48:38.medal! I am just bursting with pride, I was
:48:39. > :48:42.very confident, but without Hollie Webb...! I just tried to block out
:48:43. > :48:49.what it was, the occasion, yeah, just did my job. And now the
:48:50. > :48:57.captain. Retiring after this Olympics, a gold medal, how can you
:48:58. > :49:01.finish in anything better than that? We said we wanted to create history
:49:02. > :49:10.and inspire the future, and we have done that tonight.
:49:11. > :49:13.The whole squad here with the gold medals around their neck, all of
:49:14. > :49:18.them watching pictures from the final for the first time, just
:49:19. > :49:23.extraordinary, amazing scenes, and for most of them the first time they
:49:24. > :49:26.have seen friends and family in the crowds, and their reactions,
:49:27. > :49:30.laughing at themselves, but really emotional, they deserve every
:49:31. > :49:36.plaudit, every single one of them making a contribution to, I think,
:49:37. > :49:46.one of the greatest results ever in team sports, and Kate
:49:47. > :49:48.Richardson-Walsh was captain, has been for the last 13 years, you will
:49:49. > :49:51.have to start having flashbacks about your whole career. I cannot
:49:52. > :49:57.believe you have showed that video and then expect me to speak! That
:49:58. > :50:00.video had all the ups and downs of my career, coming back from
:50:01. > :50:05.adversity, this squad are unbelievable, so proud of every
:50:06. > :50:10.single one of them. If you could put it down to one thing, what have you
:50:11. > :50:16.got as a team? It is not just the 16 here, it was the 19, and then the
:50:17. > :50:20.31, the squad culture, off the back of London, building that thanks to
:50:21. > :50:35.the national lottery, allowing us to train full-time as professional
:50:36. > :50:39.athletes, and that is the culmination. This beautiful medal is
:50:40. > :50:41.worth all of the hard work, the sweat, the tears and blood, yeah.
:50:42. > :50:43.Talking of the blood actually, Crista Cullen, the warrior, you
:50:44. > :50:46.essentially scored and came out over retirement to play with this lot.
:50:47. > :50:50.Amazing, so chuffed, four years ago when I retired, I thought that was
:50:51. > :50:54.it, then I decided, having watched these girls in the European Cup
:50:55. > :51:00.Final, beating the Dutch in that emphatic win, I thought, why
:51:01. > :51:05.wouldn't I give it a try? Does that still hurt? Or do you shake it off?
:51:06. > :51:10.I am no different to any other hockey player, had a few stitches,
:51:11. > :51:14.came back on, did what the team needed. That was so impressive to
:51:15. > :51:19.the people who tuned in, 9 million, the way you take a bash then come
:51:20. > :51:24.back up. The most popular goalkeeper in British sport, Maddie Hinch,
:51:25. > :51:28.logos, penalties, great! I absolutely love them, for a
:51:29. > :51:35.goalkeeper it is a chance to do your bit for the team, why not enjoy it
:51:36. > :51:42.and make the most of a vice we can have another look at it, nothing got
:51:43. > :51:48.by you, except the one that came off the post. The post is part of me, in
:51:49. > :51:53.my opinion! That was a special one for me, I was coming and going, the
:51:54. > :51:57.girls coming and going, taking the penalties as well, massive team
:51:58. > :52:01.effort. I know you gave up chocolate as part of your sacrifice to get to
:52:02. > :52:07.the Olympics, have you had any? I had my first piece this morning, it
:52:08. > :52:10.was magical! You deserved it. In a penalty shoot out, you need people
:52:11. > :52:15.who are going to score, Hollie Webb, did you know what you were going to
:52:16. > :52:21.do? We had done our homework as well, I spoke to Maddie, about what
:52:22. > :52:28.would work against their keeper, so going into it, I knew what I would
:52:29. > :52:32.do, I had a plan. You can talk us through what you were thinking, you
:52:33. > :52:36.knew this would win the gold medal. I am thinking I am up at Bisham
:52:37. > :52:42.Abbey on the training pitch with no-one around, that is what is going
:52:43. > :52:45.through my head. Then from this moment, there is nothing in my head,
:52:46. > :52:51.I don't really know what is going on! But yeah, I cannot really tell
:52:52. > :52:55.you from then onwards. It was a terrific moment, and the man who
:52:56. > :52:59.masterminded it is Danny Kerry, incredibly proud of this lot, and
:53:00. > :53:05.maybe you can sum up better than they can what this means to hockey.
:53:06. > :53:09.I am really optimistic it will be transformational. After London, we
:53:10. > :53:14.had a massive spike in numbers of people playing our very inclusive,
:53:15. > :53:19.beautiful sport, and I hope it will do it again. I think it shows their
:53:20. > :53:22.resilience, but also their concentration, you refused to let
:53:23. > :53:27.them get emotional until it was over. Looks can be deceiving, we
:53:28. > :53:31.were all a bit emotional inside, but we train for these moments, we have
:53:32. > :53:37.worked hard for these moments, and I think credit to them, they stayed
:53:38. > :53:41.focused through 14 days of competition, eight matches,
:53:42. > :53:49.absolutely sensational. Unbeaten, eight out of eight, some
:53:50. > :53:51.of you are heading to Holland, you may not get the most welcome
:53:52. > :53:54.reception there! We will have bragging rights, that is all that
:53:55. > :53:58.matters. How will you look back on these Olympics? With so many fond
:53:59. > :54:02.memories, such a special group, and what we have done is incredible, all
:54:03. > :54:08.the hard work that we have put in over many years has paid off, and to
:54:09. > :54:12.be walking away as Olympic champion... Talking about coming
:54:13. > :54:18.back from injury, your leg did not look great in the semifinal. No, and
:54:19. > :54:23.48 hours after that game, not the best, to be honest, but I was
:54:24. > :54:28.pleased to be doing my bit for the team. Kate has said it is her last
:54:29. > :54:32.international as captain, what about you? It is something I have been
:54:33. > :54:36.thinking about over the last few months, and I am not necessarily
:54:37. > :54:40.saying for definite, but I will not be able to beat this, I'm pretty
:54:41. > :54:45.sure this will be my last game, bowing out as Olympic champion, you
:54:46. > :54:49.cannot beat that. You really cannot, congratulations to all of you on
:54:50. > :54:54.behalf of everyone walking at home, our victorious hockey squad, the
:54:55. > :54:58.first woman to win a hockey gold medal, it is magnificent. The
:54:59. > :55:01.highlight of women's sport keep coming, Nicola Adams has
:55:02. > :55:08.successfully defended her title, and her medal ceremony is coming out
:55:09. > :55:15.now. So Valencia of Columbia won two gold
:55:16. > :55:22.medals, leading to the Pan Am games bronze that she won. Representing
:55:23. > :55:41.the people's Republic of China... So Ren steps up onto the Olympic
:55:42. > :55:46.medal podium for the second successive games, she came away with
:55:47. > :55:51.silver after losing in the epic gold medal bout against Nicola Adams,
:55:52. > :56:03.this time they met at the gold medal stage, and Adams prevailed yet again
:56:04. > :56:07.on the Olympic stage. Rent -- Ren Cancan receives her second Olympic
:56:08. > :56:27.medal in the women's 51 kilograms lightweight tournament.
:56:28. > :56:49.Silver medallist, representing France... Sarah Ourahmoune of
:56:50. > :56:52.France, the 34-year-old claims her first Olympic medal, reigning World
:56:53. > :56:58.Championship bronze medallist comes away with silver here at the 2016
:56:59. > :57:04.Olympic Games, and she competed with everything that she had as she took
:57:05. > :57:08.Olympic gold, and incredibly tight, often uncomfortable encounter for
:57:09. > :57:14.Nicola Adams. Once again, the fifth meeting between those two familiar
:57:15. > :57:19.adversaries, Nicola Adams prevailed, Sarah Ourahmoune continues France's
:57:20. > :57:31.brilliant boxing tournament here at Rio, claiming silver. The gold
:57:32. > :57:42.medallist and Olympic champion, representing Great Britain... Nicola
:57:43. > :57:50.Adams! CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
:57:51. > :57:55.One of the most electrifying smiles in all of sport, beaming from ear to
:57:56. > :57:59.ear, an acknowledgement of the terrific accomplishment she has just
:58:00. > :58:04.delivered, Nicola Adams claims a second successive Olympic gold in
:58:05. > :58:10.the boxing ring and, as a result, joins a pantheon of all-time Olympic
:58:11. > :58:14.greats, just the 17th boxer to win more than one Olympic title.
:58:15. > :58:19.Terrific performance by Nicola Adams, gold medallist for the second
:58:20. > :58:39.successive time in the 51 kilograms flyweight division.
:58:40. > :58:51.Ladies and gentlemen, the anthem of Great Britain.
:58:52. > :59:53.The enormity of the competent beginning to sink in for Nicola
:59:54. > :59:59.Adams, overcome with emotion after hearing the anthem and seen the
:00:00. > :00:01.union Jack flag raised. The acknowledgement of a second
:00:02. > :00:08.successive Olympic crown, a wonderful accomplishment. Nicola
:00:09. > :00:13.Adams continues to smile from air-to-air as the photographers
:00:14. > :00:16.capture images for prosperity. -- prosperity. Nicola Adams is a
:00:17. > :00:23.two-time champion of the boxing ring.
:00:24. > :00:29.She is the most successful amateur boxer for Britain. For all the glory
:00:30. > :00:32.and the gold medals and the champions, it is the moments of
:00:33. > :00:37.deepest disappointment that make you realise how much the Olympic Games
:00:38. > :00:46.matter. For Lutalo Mohammed, he was one second away from gold. Who's
:00:47. > :00:59.going to take a big crowd? Will be the time for Cisse or the man in
:01:00. > :01:02.blue, Lutalo Mohammed. Mohammed straightaway put his opponent on his
:01:03. > :01:16.back, the headshot landing. Impressive stuff. It is anybody's
:01:17. > :01:24.match now, who wants it most? We go into the last 20 seconds. Mohammed
:01:25. > :01:28.takes the push kick. 6-4 to the man from Great Britain. Has to keep his
:01:29. > :01:37.composure. Tries with the diverse turning kick. Cisse from the Ivory
:01:38. > :01:43.Coast time to produce a miracle. Mohammed on the back foot. One
:01:44. > :01:49.second away. The tale Mohamed Salah 's is down, blocks and that is a
:01:50. > :01:54.headshot at the last second from Cisse. The diverse turning kick. The
:01:55. > :02:05.man from the Ivory Coast finds the victory at the last second. What a
:02:06. > :02:11.turnaround. Cisse, Olympic champion. I was so close to being Olympic
:02:12. > :02:20.champion. One of the low points in my life. This is very sad for me. I
:02:21. > :02:27.am sorry. I could not come home with gold. And he is with me now. So
:02:28. > :02:33.difficult to watch it back. The first gold medal for the Ivory Coast
:02:34. > :02:37.and as no surprise that Cisse went bonkers around the stadium. How do
:02:38. > :02:43.you reflect on it? It was my first time watching it back, actually. It
:02:44. > :02:49.feels like the emotions have come over me again. Excuse me. It was a
:02:50. > :02:55.very tough moment at the time and it really felt like the low point in my
:02:56. > :03:03.life. Since then, I have been overwhelmed by the amount of
:03:04. > :03:06.support, the great messages I have received from fans back home over
:03:07. > :03:12.social media, through friends and family and the people walking around
:03:13. > :03:17.in Brazil. It is completely unexpected and it has made me feel
:03:18. > :03:22.so much better. I want to see that first, I appreciate the support so
:03:23. > :03:28.much. Sometimes, that is always when you need it most, not only moment of
:03:29. > :03:31.success, it is now. And as an athlete, it is from now that you
:03:32. > :03:39.prove yourself, isn't it? Definitely. The best athletes are
:03:40. > :03:45.tested. The ones that come through are the ones you remember and talk
:03:46. > :03:49.about. This is my second time at an Olympics, my second time being on
:03:50. > :03:54.the podium. I have lots to be proud of and lots to be grateful for. When
:03:55. > :03:58.you look back at it and when people who do not understand the complexity
:03:59. > :04:01.of tae kwon do, why can you not go down on the floor and say, do not
:04:02. > :04:09.touch me as Commissioner Mark I probably should have done that. It
:04:10. > :04:16.was such a weird moment. I did not think I had been hit. I felt I had
:04:17. > :04:22.blocked the shot. I looked at the scoreboard was no time left and saw
:04:23. > :04:26.that his points had gone on. It was a horrible moment of thinking I had
:04:27. > :04:34.won the Olympic final to realising that I hadn't. You are young, you're
:04:35. > :04:40.25, aren't you? Yes. How quickly can you reset yourself and what are your
:04:41. > :04:46.immediate objectives? Right now, I am in Rio so I will enjoy the rest
:04:47. > :04:49.of my time at the Olympics. I will watch my team-mates today. I will
:04:50. > :04:55.take some time away from the sport. Just to relax and unwind, look after
:04:56. > :04:59.some old injuries. When I feel the hunger again, I will take you
:05:00. > :05:03.step-by-step. I have no immediate plans of tae kwon do but I am sure
:05:04. > :05:13.it will be my future. Talking about Mahama Cho and Bianca Bogdan, what
:05:14. > :05:16.chance do you give them? Bianca Walkden is the reigning champion,
:05:17. > :05:19.two-time Olympic -- European champion. She has a great chance
:05:20. > :05:29.today. If she stays focused, she will. The same for Mahama Cho, the
:05:30. > :05:33.Grand Prix champion. Qualified for the Olympics through the European
:05:34. > :05:37.tournament by outclassing everyone in the division. He is clearly one
:05:38. > :05:42.of the best in the world and has a great chance of winning gold. I am
:05:43. > :05:45.just here to do everything I can to support our athletes who have got a
:05:46. > :05:50.great chance of two more medals today. Although you compete as
:05:51. > :05:54.individuals, teamwork is important. The model view despite being good at
:05:55. > :06:02.this the more there are to inspire others. I am not surprised -- shy to
:06:03. > :06:07.say the Jade Jones gave me a big boost. Seeing her win on the first
:06:08. > :06:10.day gave us the meant. It pushed me, help me make that final and give me
:06:11. > :06:18.the determination to make that final. I hope these two guys today
:06:19. > :06:22.can take something from my performance, or what not to do in
:06:23. > :06:28.the final. LAUGHTER. Something inspirational. This is already the
:06:29. > :06:33.best Olympics for tae kwon do for us and we want to add more medals. We
:06:34. > :06:39.work hard at tae kwon do so we deserve all the medals we can get.
:06:40. > :06:42.The bronze medal from London and a silver medal from here, you're the
:06:43. > :06:50.most successful British tae kwon do athlete. I have a lot to be proud of
:06:51. > :06:54.and I take pride in that fact. It has been fabulous to talk to you
:06:55. > :06:58.today. For people to see you smile and talk about the future. I know
:06:59. > :07:05.how much for the last leg. It has been fabulous. -- last night. Enjoy
:07:06. > :07:09.supporting the others. Thank you for having me. It is extraordinary at
:07:10. > :07:14.the Olympic Games, a Silver Medal is disappointing but the bronze medal
:07:15. > :07:18.can make you ecstatic. For the women's 4x100 m relay team, late
:07:19. > :07:25.last night in the athletic Stadium, a bronze medal was the first British
:07:26. > :07:29.female athlete since 1984. COMMENTATOR: The final of the
:07:30. > :07:31.women's 4x100 metres. Britain have not won a medal in this event since
:07:32. > :07:43.the Los Angeles games in 1984. Away the goal. United States in 11.
:07:44. > :07:48.Jamaica Aaron Lennon sex and Britain just inside them. Looking for the
:07:49. > :07:52.changeover and strong from Asha Philip to Desiree Henry. Germany
:07:53. > :07:55.looking quick but Great Britain and Northern Ireland in a strong
:07:56. > :08:05.position. -- Jamaica are in lean six. Dina Asher-Smith has it now.
:08:06. > :08:11.English Gardner handing it off. The United States lead. Jamaica in
:08:12. > :08:15.second. The United States running for gold. Shelly Ann Fraser Place
:08:16. > :08:24.for silver. Great Britain for bronze. The United States have it,
:08:25. > :08:28.it is blisteringly quick. Great Britain have the bronze medal, the
:08:29. > :08:32.celebrations for Great Britain and Northern Ireland, a new British
:08:33. > :08:39.record, it is taken into that bronze medal. Look at what it means for
:08:40. > :08:44.Desiree Henry and the smile on Ascherson -- Dina Asher-Smith. A
:08:45. > :08:50.bronze medal is a great achievement. The format of them are here now and
:08:51. > :08:55.still celebrating. Closest to me, Asha Philip, Desiree Henry, Dina
:08:56. > :09:02.Asher-Smith. This is a new British record. It is a team that has not
:09:03. > :09:06.been together very long. How do you sum that up? Honestly, it was the
:09:07. > :09:11.best thing we have done. To fulfil all our dreams, an Olympic final,
:09:12. > :09:14.there's nothing more I could have asked. National record when it
:09:15. > :09:22.mattered and that is what we needed to do. And you are also young. Yes,
:09:23. > :09:27.we are. I am the elders. You have to be proud. We work very hard for
:09:28. > :09:31.that. We are so excited. We have not seen the coverage so we get to see
:09:32. > :09:37.how we perform. It feels really good inside. And you still have got the
:09:38. > :09:41.medal ceremony. This crowd is brilliant. Are you the most
:09:42. > :09:47.emotional? I really am. I do not know what it is. I gets so
:09:48. > :09:54.emotional. I knew how hard we had worked. It filled me with so much
:09:55. > :10:01.ocean crossing the line. I could cry. It was tears of happiness.
:10:02. > :10:08.An amazing four years, remind everyone about London?
:10:09. > :10:15.I had the privilege of being one of the seven to light the Olympic
:10:16. > :10:20.cauldron. And here I am, with an Olympic medal, amazing.
:10:21. > :10:24.She is emotional. You had a job in London that was rather different to
:10:25. > :10:29.now. We have been through this story so
:10:30. > :10:36.many times. I was a kit carrier. Weird to be on the team with so many
:10:37. > :10:43.superstars but now an Olympic medallist.
:10:44. > :10:48.You have been flying. Isn't she? Everyone at home loves you. There is
:10:49. > :10:54.so much more to come. Thanks you. I have worked really
:10:55. > :11:01.hard, we all have. Last night was a testament to the entire video
:11:02. > :11:06.programme, and all the other girls here in Brazil and at home, how hard
:11:07. > :11:10.we have worked together, since January. We believed in each other
:11:11. > :11:14.and knew we could do it when it counted.
:11:15. > :11:20.When you handed over the baton, what did you shout?
:11:21. > :11:27.Go! The Americans were doing their own thing in lane one. Keep going,
:11:28. > :11:32.keep going! When she crossed the line, I started screaming and
:11:33. > :11:38.sprinting. To catch up and congratulate her.
:11:39. > :11:47.We were Olympic medallists. Where were you?
:11:48. > :11:52.Four years ago I was a junior at the Games held in the Olympic Stadium.
:11:53. > :11:55.And now I am here with an Olympic medal.
:11:56. > :12:02.Really exciting. Usain Bolt was making his final Olympic appearance.
:12:03. > :12:06.You will be not long before or after his medal ceremony tonight. Amazing
:12:07. > :12:11.to think he will be sitting at home watching you guys.
:12:12. > :12:16.It is special to be part of his closing to the Olympics.
:12:17. > :12:21.He has been part of my entire athletics career. A great
:12:22. > :12:25.inspiration to me. Was it him that made you want to be
:12:26. > :12:30.a sprinter? I saw him and felt, I would love to
:12:31. > :12:36.be at the Olympics one day and do what he has done. And I have an
:12:37. > :12:38.Olympic medal. I am on my way there. How close can you get to the
:12:39. > :12:50.Jamaicans? Three years ago we grabbed a bronze
:12:51. > :13:01.medal in Moscow. Last year in Beijing, we ran 42. This year, 41.
:13:02. > :13:04.We keep working hard, getting faster individually, believing in each
:13:05. > :13:10.other. Who knows? We could be up there.
:13:11. > :13:16.When are you expected to peak, when our sprinters at their best?
:13:17. > :13:20.I would say 25, 20 six. We have a while to go.
:13:21. > :13:27.We have an extremely young team. We have a medal which proves this is
:13:28. > :13:32.the age... Not everyone. We are getting started. We are
:13:33. > :13:45.looking for Tokyo with medal hopes and challenging for the gold medal.
:13:46. > :13:50.I predict your peak will be at 29! Technically my body is about their
:13:51. > :13:53.age, I would say I am the same age. In the running years you are
:13:54. > :13:57.younger. A fabulous bronze medal, enjoy the
:13:58. > :14:04.ceremony tonight. Thanks you for everything you have done to inspire
:14:05. > :14:10.others to follow in your footsteps. Get inspired!
:14:11. > :14:15.Thank you to the National Lottery. Get inspired is our sports campaign

:14:50. > :14:53.Fabulous talking to them, I love this.
:14:54. > :14:59.This is what is still to come, another gold medal possibly for
:15:00. > :15:05.Cuba. The quarterfinals of the taekwondo.
:15:06. > :15:09.On the Red Button, the diving ten metre platform, the best of it here

:15:14. > :15:21.Germany, and potential semifinals for Bianca and Mohammed Cho.
:15:22. > :15:26.The men's football final is in full on BBC Four.
:15:27. > :15:28.Tonight at 1:30am, Mo Farah is looking to cement his place as one
:15:29. > :15:42.of the great long-distance runners. The 5010,000m, longest journeys of
:15:43. > :15:50.the track. Lap after lap, again and again. The names that sit in the
:15:51. > :15:56.memory recent and distance, Haile Gebrselassie, it seemed so simple to
:15:57. > :16:00.them, but that is a lie. Minutes on the tracks are days of long miles
:16:01. > :16:05.and hard graft and with the race itself, with that fluent ease comes
:16:06. > :16:10.pain. Even those greats have limits, only
:16:11. > :16:15.one other man has before done the double double. Come through that
:16:16. > :16:19.pain to success on the other side in the Olympic 10,000m and the 5000m
:16:20. > :16:24.relay the four years later, then done it again.
:16:25. > :16:29.COMMENTATOR: Defends the title wonderfully well, they are not going
:16:30. > :16:32.to beat him. The greatest distance runner in the world proves it beyond
:16:33. > :16:36.doubt. The flying Finn of the 1970s of
:16:37. > :16:42.Munich and Montreal. Now, now there is Mo Farah trying to
:16:43. > :16:48.match that feat and earning comparisons with the best of the
:16:49. > :16:53.past. How to compare two men 40 years apart, was the feet great
:16:54. > :16:59.having to pass through sapping heat in the 10,000m before racing for
:17:00. > :17:03.gold over both distances? Mo Farah, already has a double
:17:04. > :17:11.double of world titles, but that is a prize created after that time.
:17:12. > :17:16.So don't compare, simply admire. With the very best we perhaps lose
:17:17. > :17:20.our perspective. Too much success and it is diminished more some --
:17:21. > :17:28.more makes it somehow less. Remember, this is never easy. Only
:17:29. > :17:32.near the end when the prize is near do we see that mask slip and the
:17:33. > :17:39.pain and effort that lies beneath. The effort that brings Mo Farah now
:17:40. > :17:50.close to Olympic gold again, and again, one more time.
:17:51. > :18:00.He fell down in the 10,000m, got up and won gold. He stumbled in the
:18:01. > :18:03.5000m relay, he will run for gold at 1:30am.
:18:04. > :18:06.More like boxing still to come, could it be another gold medal for
:18:07. > :18:11.Cuba? Here is John. A fight between Cuba
:18:12. > :18:16.and Uzbekistan coming up. Time we heard again from Nicola
:18:17. > :18:20.Adams, another gold medal for Great Britain. After she had time to
:18:21. > :18:23.reflect, she came to speak to us again.
:18:24. > :18:26.You have had time to reflect a bit. How does being Olympic champion
:18:27. > :18:31.twice compared with being Olympic champion just the once?
:18:32. > :18:37.Definitely, it is what dreams are made of. I started crying, I haven't
:18:38. > :18:42.cried in so long. That shows how much it really means to me. It means
:18:43. > :18:46.everything. The last four years of hard work has paid off for this
:18:47. > :18:52.moment. When you woke up this morning, where
:18:53. > :18:57.you nervous, confident, excited? A bit of everything. Confident,
:18:58. > :19:04.excited, looking forward to it. But I was ready. When people look at
:19:05. > :19:09.your CV, the thing that strikes you is, worked as an extra on Emmerdale
:19:10. > :19:13.and Coronation Street to make ends meet. Does that seem so far away you
:19:14. > :19:16.can't imagine it, or is there still a bit of that time that inspires you
:19:17. > :19:21.now? Definitely. I look back on the hard
:19:22. > :19:27.times, that is what make you propel forward. It gives me the drive and
:19:28. > :19:31.ambition to keep on moving forward, keep creating history. I'd like to
:19:32. > :19:34.say thank you to everyone who supported me.
:19:35. > :19:41.One last question, you are on this list of famous Olympians who have
:19:42. > :19:45.won two back-to-back Olympic gold medals. A very thin list who have
:19:46. > :19:50.won three, do you fancy that? Definitely.
:19:51. > :19:54.You will keep going? I need to think first, go on holiday, we left this
:19:55. > :19:56.longer before I decide what I will do.
:19:57. > :20:00.Many congratulations, the country have loved this.
:20:01. > :20:05.Thank you. Nicola Adams still smiling.
:20:06. > :20:10.Actually, we had a lot of tears on the podium when Ramirez, the Cuban,
:20:11. > :20:15.was looking at his national flag and the enormity of what he had done,
:20:16. > :20:18.winning back-to-back gold medals at different weight divisions finally
:20:19. > :20:25.consumed him. Another Cuban, Lopez against his
:20:26. > :20:28.Uzbekistan opponent in the men's 75 kilograms category.
:20:29. > :20:33.Every four years that comes around, we look at Cuban boxing and realise
:20:34. > :20:34.the tradition they have there, Anthony, is what keeps breeding the
:20:35. > :20:44.next generation. Definitely. A decision to stay
:20:45. > :20:48.amateur and represent their country, or defects and turned professional.
:20:49. > :20:52.When these guys stay in their country training, Olympics after
:20:53. > :20:59.Olympics, the experience they gain is so good.
:21:00. > :21:00.Some of the guys, we strike when the iron is hot.
:21:01. > :21:04.These guys live a different lifestyle.
:21:05. > :21:10.We have seen them time and again at the Olympics, they are getting
:21:11. > :21:15.better. Just like James Degale, Price. They wanted to do great
:21:16. > :21:21.things as professionals. But like the computer -- but like the tubers,
:21:22. > :21:25.they stay as parameters to represent their country.
:21:26. > :21:26.The last final on the penultimate day of the boxing tournament in Rio.
:21:27. > :21:41.Let us enjoy it. We are underway. This battle of
:21:42. > :21:47.southpaws, what a matchup in prospect, the man wearing red, the
:21:48. > :21:53.reigning gold medallist, Arlen Lopez, a cracking lead right hand.
:21:54. > :22:03.The man in blue is the reigning World Championship silver medallist,
:22:04. > :22:09.Bektemir Melikuziev. What is important for Melikuziev,
:22:10. > :22:14.Ron, is the boxes at his pace. Through this tournament, Lopez, this
:22:15. > :22:19.Cuban, is exceptional. He always slows the opponent's pace down, the
:22:20. > :22:25.boxes at his pace. It is very important Melikuziev on that front
:22:26. > :22:29.foot, he takes it to the Cuban and boxes at his pace. Lopez prefers
:22:30. > :22:34.that slower tempo. Let us face it, he has hardly broken
:22:35. > :22:38.sweat in the earlier rounds. Melikuziev has two upped the tempo
:22:39. > :22:43.and push the Cuban and force him maybe to box at a pace he is not
:22:44. > :22:47.used to. As you said, Lopez has had it all
:22:48. > :22:52.his own way through the tournament so far, the number one ranked boxer
:22:53. > :22:56.in the world, getting through with a good shot to the body. In his first
:22:57. > :23:00.contest in the second preliminary round, he produced the knockout of
:23:01. > :23:06.the tournament, is single left hand from that southpaw stance.
:23:07. > :23:10.It laid his opponent out on the canvas. The referee calling off the
:23:11. > :23:16.contest. We know he is a talent, Lopez.
:23:17. > :23:22.Sometimes come he goes from all the dots to southpaw and you cannot tell
:23:23. > :23:26.if he is a natural southpaw or a natural orthodox boxer. That is how
:23:27. > :23:32.good this Cuban is, he does both stars extremely well. Melikuziev,
:23:33. > :23:43.this is not a bad start, boxing at his pace.
:23:44. > :23:49.We know Lopez is good, both styles. Some nice movement from the waist.
:23:50. > :23:55.The "Marvellous" Marvin Hagler against sugar Ray Leonard, we
:23:56. > :24:01.couldn't tell whether he was a natural left or right. He asked for
:24:02. > :24:11.his autograph to determine which was his natural stance.
:24:12. > :24:20.Lopez, not discernible. He is so adept at either boxing stance.
:24:21. > :24:27.Effective work to the body from Lopez. Melikuziev as is his wand, on
:24:28. > :24:33.his toes. Bouncing in and out. Lopez, such an
:24:34. > :24:34.accurate punch picker, that is a good left hand to the body before
:24:35. > :24:45.the bell. That is the problem and Melikuziev
:24:46. > :24:53.faces when it comes to launching attacks. Lopez is a talent, like you
:24:54. > :24:57.said. But there's not a lot of movement with his feet. He's very
:24:58. > :25:03.accurate with his shots. But was a lovely body from Melikuziev. Look at
:25:04. > :25:10.that, around the garden of his opponent. He's got a fairly relaxed
:25:11. > :25:17.guard, Melikuziev. Slow on his feet but accurate with his punches. One
:25:18. > :25:20.hitting the target, the other just skimming. Let's have a look at these
:25:21. > :25:27.scores now. It's Lopez across the board. Melikuziev seem to be boxing
:25:28. > :25:29.at his post, but the judges preferred the accurate work from the
:25:30. > :25:43.Cuban. -- at his pace. So, back to me Melikuziev, the
:25:44. > :25:48.number three ranked in the world has started very quickly indeed in this
:25:49. > :25:52.second round having conceded the first round unanimously. Just 20
:25:53. > :25:59.years of age. The two men engaging on a trade off right on top of the
:26:00. > :26:04.logo. Even with that style of boxing, you just see Lopez there, he
:26:05. > :26:08.still has the experience and the knowledge to keep those hands up
:26:09. > :26:12.when he's boxing on the inside. He is letting the punches go, but he
:26:13. > :26:16.does the basics very well. He's got a naturally good guard. Blocking
:26:17. > :26:22.shots on the inside, and he still gets his hands up to his chin to
:26:23. > :26:27.block anything that comes back from quite a dangerous opponent here.
:26:28. > :26:31.But, again, better work from Lopez on the inside. Even under that heavy
:26:32. > :26:38.fire, the expression of Lopez seemingly doesn't change. Incredibly
:26:39. > :26:42.calm, incredibly poised. Melikuziev now on the back foot, looking to
:26:43. > :26:46.launch attacks from the outside but not before taking a good right hand
:26:47. > :26:52.to the body, countered with a body shot of his own. Lopez just
:26:53. > :26:57.targeting that body. Again, good work on the inside. Holding his
:26:58. > :27:00.feet, preparing to take shots on the elbows. Gets caught that, but you
:27:01. > :27:09.watch 's work downstairs, this Cuban. -- you watch his work
:27:10. > :27:15.downstairs. Hurting downstairs, slows those feet. Melikuziev, plenty
:27:16. > :27:22.of work but a lot of the shots are inaccurate. The arms, better work
:27:23. > :27:27.from Lopez. A good car thing right hook by the man in red. Melikuziev
:27:28. > :27:33.elected to hold his feet and try to engage in an exchange. -- a good
:27:34. > :27:37.cuffing right hook. Melikuziev comes in as a reigning youth champion and
:27:38. > :27:42.reigning Olympic Games champion. A wonderful transition made through to
:27:43. > :27:48.the senior ranks. Here you are looking to get a measure of revenge
:27:49. > :27:52.over the man who outpointed him to Championships last year. Melikuziev
:27:53. > :27:56.is making too many mistakes here. He is missing the target and then is
:27:57. > :28:01.way out of position. His hands are too low. About the quality opponent
:28:02. > :28:05.like Lopez, you can't afford to do that. Melikuziev is going for it,
:28:06. > :28:10.putting everything into every shot. When he misses the target, his guard
:28:11. > :28:17.is the problem. That is when he's open. Lopez back with the quality
:28:18. > :28:21.shots. Just downstairs, just mix about shot to the body. A good left
:28:22. > :28:26.hand to the body in response from Melikuziev. The shots attempted
:28:27. > :28:29.upstairs were blocked effectively by the gloves and form of Lopez.
:28:30. > :28:36.Getting physically now, increasingly so. Lopez remaining naturally calm
:28:37. > :28:56.under that heavy assault of punches. This it's just a little bit neater
:28:57. > :29:00.on the God of the Cuban. He is blocking shots on the Alberta and
:29:01. > :29:07.the arms. But wasn't a bad shot from Melikuziev. -- a bit neater on the
:29:08. > :29:15.God of the Cuban. -- blocking shots on the elbow. Across the board,
:29:16. > :29:20.Melikuziev is trying to box on the outside, on the inside. But I think
:29:21. > :29:40.his defence is a little bit leaky and Lopez is exposing that.
:29:41. > :29:52.Some five seconds had elapsed before this third and final round actually
:29:53. > :29:59.got underway. Back to me Melikuziev, in blue, is trailing by two points
:30:00. > :30:04.on all cards. Trying to turn this final round into a firefight because
:30:05. > :30:09.he needs aim massive round just to get back on terms. Look at the
:30:10. > :30:11.hurtful body shots being sent in by both boxers. But particularly
:30:12. > :30:18.accurate singles from the man in red. Melikuziev is going for it, you
:30:19. > :30:22.have to give him great credit. He would probably get away with it for
:30:23. > :30:26.other opponents, but when he misses the target his hands are a little
:30:27. > :30:32.bit low. That is when Lopez comes back. The Cuban's accuracy is the
:30:33. > :30:35.difference. Sharper, hitting the target. Melikuziev may have got away
:30:36. > :30:41.with it against lower-level opposition. But this fellow is of
:30:42. > :30:45.the highest quality. They have been called out to expect what we think
:30:46. > :30:50.is an injury around the left eye. Still not able to get a clear look
:30:51. > :30:56.at it. It's been a litany of cuts suffered by the boxes in this, the
:30:57. > :31:03.first games where the men are without head guards since Moscow
:31:04. > :31:10.1980. -- the boxers. It might have been a clash of heads, there was a
:31:11. > :31:16.lots of punches thrown also. Arlen Lopez over in the opposite neutral
:31:17. > :31:25.corner. He will have 45 seconds in which to tend to that cut. But 15
:31:26. > :31:30.second -- thereof 30 seconds to go. We will hear another double clapper
:31:31. > :31:34.in a few seconds giving him an idea of where he is in his allotted time.
:31:35. > :31:39.It looks like the cut is above the eye, which is a problem because the
:31:40. > :31:44.blood then runs into it and impairs the box's vision. If only they could
:31:45. > :31:50.stop the flow of blood. It looks like they have. -- be boxer's
:31:51. > :31:57.vision. The third and final round reviews. Arlen Lopez, the man in
:31:58. > :32:01.red, the reigning World Champion in a commanding position in this bout.
:32:02. > :32:04.Coming into the third and final round he had a 2-point lead across
:32:05. > :32:12.the board having taken the first two round unanimously. A terrific right
:32:13. > :32:16.hand from Lopez who is trying to put Cuba on a par with Great Britain and
:32:17. > :32:21.the USA by making it five gold medals for his country in the
:32:22. > :32:26.middleweight division. A total Great Britain and the USA have already
:32:27. > :32:29.acquired. The volume of punches are definitely coming from the man in
:32:30. > :32:36.blue. The single eye-catching shots from Lopez. He's boxing a clever
:32:37. > :32:41.contest in close quarters here, Lopez. Keeping the guard high,
:32:42. > :32:46.blocking lower shots. He's waiting for an opportunity. That was a
:32:47. > :32:56.perfect punch from Lopez. Melikuziev still trying to find the finishing
:32:57. > :33:03.shot. He is unlikely to outboxed this man to the tune of 10-8 that he
:33:04. > :33:06.needs. The time, remember, will be on the side of Arlen Lopez given
:33:07. > :33:12.that he is in such a commanding position. A good right hook again on
:33:13. > :33:17.the inside. Melikuziev, as he is trying to launch his own flows, more
:33:18. > :33:21.direct punches are picking him off, beating him to the punch
:33:22. > :33:25.consistently from Lopez. What Lopez has done now, he is going to slow
:33:26. > :33:34.his feet down. Melikuziev goes for a walk. That is seating Lopez with
:33:35. > :33:37.those better quality shots from the inside. A good effort from
:33:38. > :33:50.Melikuziev, he has just been out punched in close quarters.
:33:51. > :33:59.Melikuziev is not able to launch one final rallying deep into that third
:34:00. > :34:03.and final round. Arlen Lopez will occupy top spot on the medal podium
:34:04. > :34:08.in the men's 75 kilograms middleweight division. A terrific
:34:09. > :34:12.performance by the reigning World Championship gold medallist. And a
:34:13. > :34:15.repeat victory over the talented youngster from Uzbekistan, back to
:34:16. > :34:18.me Melikuziev, who will come away with silver. -- lobectomy
:34:19. > :34:29.Melikuziev. Super from Lopez, fought about his
:34:30. > :34:35.defence to block shots on the inside. Against a fairly aggressive
:34:36. > :34:39.Melikuziev. And Lopez is a talent, he can box at range, he can box on
:34:40. > :34:43.the inside, he has power. Great balance and accuracy. A very
:34:44. > :34:52.talented man indeed and a deserving winner.
:34:53. > :35:06.Ladies and gentlemen, the winner by unanimous
:35:07. > :35:22.decision. Arlen Lopez seemingly overcome with emotion at claiming
:35:23. > :35:25.Olympic gold in the 75 kilograms middleweight division. The reigning
:35:26. > :35:28.World Champion becomes the Olympic champion with a series of
:35:29. > :35:32.practically punch perfect displays throughout the course of the
:35:33. > :35:36.tournament. He becomes the fifth Cuban to claim middleweight gold,
:35:37. > :35:42.putting them on a par with Great Britain and the USA. That is why he
:35:43. > :35:48.is acknowledging all sides of the arena here at Riocentro Pavilion 6.
:35:49. > :35:53.Spare a thought from Melikuziev, just 20 years of age. He adds
:35:54. > :35:57.Olympic silver to his World Championship silver. At the moment
:35:58. > :36:02.belongs to Lopez who is the champion.
:36:03. > :36:08.STUDIO: another great day for Cuban boxing with two more medals. That
:36:09. > :36:15.was tight, but you think he just got it? Yes, really tight play. First
:36:16. > :36:18.round I was like, hang on. Uzbekistan did well. They were
:36:19. > :36:23.unpredictable. But feeling Cuba fight, I seemed to find his range
:36:24. > :36:27.and his distance. Then he started building round by round. It was
:36:28. > :36:32.really close but for me that was the right decision. One final reflection
:36:33. > :36:37.on Nicola Adams earlier on today? You live within the boxing world.
:36:38. > :36:46.How much does she do for the sport as a whole? Micky Adams, boxing is
:36:47. > :36:51.known as a grim, grass roots, tough sport. Which it did. But Nicola
:36:52. > :36:54.desert with a smile on her face, with personality and charisma.
:36:55. > :37:05.Appeals to everyone from used adults. Nicola has changed it in the
:37:06. > :37:13.sense that she invites people in. -- for youths to adults. When Nicola is
:37:14. > :37:17.achieving we should all be smiling because she is bringing attention to
:37:18. > :37:21.the sport of boxing. Can you see a second gold medal for Britain
:37:22. > :37:28.tomorrow? Big Joe Joyce, the steam train. There is nothing stopping the
:37:29. > :37:31.man. Except himself! He has got the resilient people eating out of the
:37:32. > :37:36.palm of his hand. He's got my support, he's got so much energy.
:37:37. > :37:40.All he has to do is go in and do what he does. He has a tough
:37:41. > :37:44.opponent from France with a great jab behind, but for me a great jab
:37:45. > :37:48.isn't enough to stop Joe Joyce. We will find out tomorrow. Good to see
:37:49. > :37:52.you, we'll be back on ringside tomorrow. Can this boxing
:37:53. > :37:54.competition in Rio end on the grandest of all finale finale for
:37:55. > :38:36.Great Britain? -- of all finales. All the hard work that Joe Joyce has
:38:37. > :38:39.put in over the last four years could come to fruition tomorrow
:38:40. > :38:44.night and he could provide Team GB with a last gold medal of these
:38:45. > :38:48.games. 7:15pm tomorrow will be that gold medal fight. We hoped tonight
:38:49. > :38:53.would be a diving spectacular featuring Tom Daley but it did not
:38:54. > :38:54.go to plan. He qualified for the semifinals in first position, but it
:38:55. > :39:05.all went wrong. COMMENTATOR: the men's semifinal of
:39:06. > :39:14.the ten metre platform. First dive for Tom Daley, the man who lead in
:39:15. > :39:18.the preliminaries. Not as good as yesterday, but good enough. I would
:39:19. > :39:22.like to see him not quite as good in this semifinal. I want to see him
:39:23. > :39:28.diving well, but I want to see him just backing off the gas. Round two.
:39:29. > :39:36.Let's see what we can do with this 3.6 dive. This is his newest dive.
:39:37. > :39:44.Not the rotational speed he is used to. Drops a bit like a stone. On to
:39:45. > :39:55.round three. If this goes well, he will rocket up the standings. Tom
:39:56. > :40:02.needs to get moving. No, not yet. He is way off the standings at the
:40:03. > :40:09.moment. But she can make it back. -- but he can make it back.
:40:10. > :40:17.This is better from Tom. Not as good but an improvement which is what we
:40:18. > :40:22.want to see. Over 30 points Tom Daley had to make
:40:23. > :40:29.up to get into the top 12. It is achievable but will take some doing.
:40:30. > :40:36.OK, the reparation job has two start here and had to start with this.
:40:37. > :40:43.Yesterday, he got ten on this dive. To get himself out of the mire.
:40:44. > :40:50.That will help a lot. But we are still way in the danger zone.
:40:51. > :40:56.Here we go with Round 6, final round of the semifinal. Tom Daley come it
:40:57. > :41:02.is down to you, do you have what it takes to get 101 points to get level
:41:03. > :41:11.with 12th, the biggest dive of your life. Coming up right now.
:41:12. > :41:17.No, that is it. Unbelievable. We did not predict this. Tom Daley winning
:41:18. > :41:19.by a country mile yesterday. Today in the semifinals, not making it
:41:20. > :41:27.through. What an awful day at therefore Tom.
:41:28. > :41:33.An Olympic bronze medallist in the synchro, but he will be devastated.
:41:34. > :41:37.Tom Daley finishes in 18th place. What a reversal in fortunes.
:41:38. > :41:43.Yesterday, the best. Today, the worst.
:41:44. > :41:49.Commiserations, we can see what it means to you.
:41:50. > :41:55.What happened? I have worked so hard these past four years.
:41:56. > :41:57.Yesterday, I got an Olympic record, the highest score in an Olympic
:41:58. > :42:04.Games. Today, it wasn't meant to be. You
:42:05. > :42:08.know, I truly am heartbroken because I really do feel like I am in peak
:42:09. > :42:14.physical condition and I could go out there and have won tonight. It
:42:15. > :42:19.is hard to accept how it went today. Your team-mates would argue this is
:42:20. > :42:23.the most stressful sport, the most high pressure, add to that the
:42:24. > :42:29.expectations. What is going through your head on that board?
:42:30. > :42:34.I am completely present in the moment, enjoying each moment.
:42:35. > :42:40.Today, things weren't clicking. I was soaked up for it. Cheney was
:42:41. > :42:47.really good. In the competition, it fell apart -- I was so up for it.
:42:48. > :42:55.I am happy Howard Team GB has done, it makes be proud to be part of Team
:42:56. > :43:01.GB. -- happy Howard Team GB has done.
:43:02. > :43:08.It wasn't meant to be. Another four years of hard work now.
:43:09. > :43:10.It didn't feel any different. I felt good in myself. My mind and body
:43:11. > :43:27.word connecting. I worked out I needed 9.2, and gave
:43:28. > :43:33.it my all but it didn't happen. It did happen last week, you have
:43:34. > :43:38.won bronze medal. Not a write-off. Pretty successful in that sense. I
:43:39. > :43:44.am really happy. After 2012I came away with a bronze medal. I got a
:43:45. > :43:50.bronze medal in synchro with Dan. We worked hard. I really wanted that
:43:51. > :43:56.gold medal this time. There is always another four years.
:43:57. > :44:01.Tokyo is in your sites? Yes, even more than ever now. Tom,
:44:02. > :44:05.you have done so much for the profile of the sport. You have an
:44:06. > :44:10.army of fans. I can see why you are upset but
:44:11. > :44:14.don't be heartbroken. It is heartbreaking because it is
:44:15. > :44:19.the Olympic Games. Those five rings on the wall mean so much to me.
:44:20. > :44:28.To not be in the final to get a shot for those medals is heartbreaking.
:44:29. > :44:31.A good story for Tokyo. You know films, it gives a better
:44:32. > :44:39.narrative. I will work even harder than before.
:44:40. > :44:45.Tom Daley, so emotional. Leon Taylor, you must feel as bad as he
:44:46. > :44:49.does, that was a major shock. Tom used the word heartbroken
:44:50. > :44:57.several times, that sums it up. He was diving farewell yesterday.
:44:58. > :45:02.But he couldn't connect. It is like a radio frequency, when it is tuned
:45:03. > :45:06.in, but slightly out, that is where Tom was all day.
:45:07. > :45:13.It was very windy this morning. Now it has started to rain.
:45:14. > :45:15.Conditions shouldn't have been a factor?
:45:16. > :45:21.No, Tom quite rightly said it is one of those things. 171 points
:45:22. > :45:26.differential between yesterday and this morning which is huge.
:45:27. > :45:30.Not like running, where you are on form.
:45:31. > :45:34.This dive is where it starts to go wrong, his fireworks dive.
:45:35. > :45:38.In training it was exceptional. Here, his take-off was weak, he
:45:39. > :45:43.looked lacklustre. Dive after dive, it was getting more
:45:44. > :45:47.woeful. He left himself too much to do on
:45:48. > :45:50.that final dive. It was mathematically possible but you
:45:51. > :45:55.cannot make that many mistakes no matter who you are.
:45:56. > :46:00.I really felt him. I felt physically sick afterwards. Only a fraction of
:46:01. > :46:04.what Tom was feeling. I applaud him for doing those interviews, the last
:46:05. > :46:09.thing he wanted to do. You heard it from him, I am
:46:10. > :46:12.definitely doing Tokyo, his fourth Olympic Games.
:46:13. > :46:17.I am delighted to hear him say that with such determination.
:46:18. > :46:21.He worked so hard, he will be back. In terms of the British diving
:46:22. > :46:26.squad, there is much to celebrate. Even though this is the end of it,
:46:27. > :46:30.this is not the last chapter in the story.
:46:31. > :46:36.Let us reflect, we have our first ever Olympic gold medal. Three
:46:37. > :46:40.medals. Tom has one of them. Let us celebrate everything that is British
:46:41. > :46:44.diving, get it on the TV more. There will be so many stories between now
:46:45. > :46:48.and Tokyo. Everyone at home will be
:46:49. > :46:50.disappointed not to see Tom in the final.
:46:51. > :46:55.For what he has done for British diving, how big an influence has he
:46:56. > :47:02.been? It was Beijing at the age of 14 that
:47:03. > :47:06.he shot to superstardom. His first Olympic Games, finishing
:47:07. > :47:11.seventh. Onwards from there. His results
:47:12. > :47:16.speak for themselves, what he has done for the sport is incredible.
:47:17. > :47:19.Across all events, men and women, the results in Rio have been
:47:20. > :47:26.astonishing. I am proud of the entire team.
:47:27. > :47:31.I will let you go off for the ten metre platform final.
:47:32. > :47:44.Who do you think will win it? A send ten. He was sensational in
:47:45. > :47:48.the semifinal. -- Aisen Chen. A grey day in Rio but a lot of sport
:47:49. > :47:53.to bring you which won't be affected by the weather.
:47:54. > :47:57.The British team, the sun continues to shine on their performances.
:47:58. > :48:00.Bill Sweeney, chairman of the British Olympic Association joins me
:48:01. > :48:05.now. That smile cannot have been far away
:48:06. > :48:11.from your face for the last 15 days. A history making Games for us, we
:48:12. > :48:17.came here with the desire to be the best away team.
:48:18. > :48:22.And the range of sports. We have 26 gold medals in 15 sports, four more
:48:23. > :48:30.sports than any other country, a testament to the investment from UK
:48:31. > :48:35.sport and the National Lottery. Did you ever think you would look at
:48:36. > :48:40.and Ms -- a medal table and the Great Britain ahead of China?
:48:41. > :48:48.Brilliant. 24 hours to go still. Lovely to see that.
:48:49. > :48:54.The USA in front but those 39 goals have come in 11 different sports.
:48:55. > :48:58.Great Britain's have come in 15 different sports.
:48:59. > :49:04.You take in the success rate of the USA in the swimming pool, and we
:49:05. > :49:09.should be more impressed by the British team, compared to countries
:49:10. > :49:13.with much bigger populations. We invest while in sport but we
:49:14. > :49:18.wouldn't necessarily invest numbers wise as much as some countries. Is
:49:19. > :49:23.it down to strategic investment? I do. It is a case of patients, this
:49:24. > :49:29.has been coming for 20 years. If by chance we hit at 66, we will be the
:49:30. > :49:34.first nation to have five consecutive Games growth.
:49:35. > :49:39.It is starting to pay off. Where were you in 1996 when Great Britain
:49:40. > :49:44.had only one gold medal? Probably overseas. A sad moment. The
:49:45. > :49:48.nation said, we are better than that, we are a better sporting
:49:49. > :49:50.nation. We had the National Lottery funding
:49:51. > :49:55.coming in. British sport is made up of
:49:56. > :49:59.different moving parts, UK sport, us, the national governing bodies
:50:00. > :50:06.who have done a fantastic job bringing the talent in.
:50:07. > :50:11.A real team effort. Have a look at the grass in terms of
:50:12. > :50:15.the speed and rate at which these medals have been won, consistently
:50:16. > :50:18.above what was happening in London. I don't think anybody thought that
:50:19. > :50:23.would happen. Looking back to the beginning of the
:50:24. > :50:26.Games, people with limited views saying I can't get excited about
:50:27. > :50:30.silver and bronze. The gold medals started to come.
:50:31. > :50:34.Even the beginning was more successful than London.
:50:35. > :50:39.There were high points throughout the Games, big names delivering,
:50:40. > :50:43.Andy Murray, Justin Rose, the cyclists.
:50:44. > :50:48.Then a 16-year-old Amy Tinkler who hasn't even got her GCSE results.
:50:49. > :50:53.And Sophie Hitchon in the hammer. That lifts the entire camp.
:50:54. > :50:59.Anything is possible. And hockey last night and the goals with that
:51:00. > :51:03.amazing game. You think, the gods are smiling.
:51:04. > :51:08.This is our Games. A lot has to do with peaking at the right time. The
:51:09. > :51:14.coaching setup, the nutrition side, sports science has to be spot on.
:51:15. > :51:19.Absolutely. The margins between victory and failure are the margins
:51:20. > :51:24.which are so minute. At the worlds at the velodrome in
:51:25. > :51:27.London, the Australians pipped us. The cycling team said, we will get
:51:28. > :51:33.them in Rio because we are planning to peak in Rio.
:51:34. > :51:38.Hats off to walk the performance directors and team leaders across
:51:39. > :51:42.the sports. They are getting the results.
:51:43. > :51:46.When will you plan for Tokyo? We have been there three times in
:51:47. > :51:50.the past 12 months, officials from Tokyo this morning, there in
:51:51. > :51:57.September to sign up for the pre-Games prep camp.
:51:58. > :52:00.The momentum has started. Fabulous, many congratulations to
:52:01. > :52:08.everyone involved. Thank you, great being here. Still
:52:09. > :52:10.to come this evening. Live handball, one in which Balint has not yet won
:52:11. > :52:25.a medal. -- Britain. Then Mahama Cho at 8:15pm. Followed
:52:26. > :52:29.by Bianca Walkden, the world champion, at 8:30pm in her
:52:30. > :52:33.quarterfinal. We hope they make it through to the semifinals which will
:52:34. > :52:39.be at 9:30pm. The ten metre platform final you can
:52:40. > :52:42.follow that on the Red Button from 8:30pm.
:52:43. > :52:46.The football we are showing you in full from 9:30pm, Brazil versus
:52:47. > :52:52.Germany. Athletics tonight is worth staying
:52:53. > :52:56.up for, 1:30am. Before all that, the women's
:52:57. > :52:59.handball final is underway. France beat the Netherlands by one point in
:53:00. > :53:04.the semifinals. Russia went to extra time to beat
:53:05. > :53:06.the reigning champions Norway. Here is all you need to know about how
:53:07. > :53:19.the sport works. Olympic handball is a fast flowing
:53:20. > :53:24.in a high-scoring, body contact game played over two halves of 30
:53:25. > :53:29.minutes. Played by two teams of seven players, six outfield players
:53:30. > :53:34.and a goalkeeper. Each goal is surrounded by a semicircle indicated
:53:35. > :53:37.by a lane six metres from goal. Only the defending goalkeeper is allowed
:53:38. > :53:40.in this area. Players can move with a ball by
:53:41. > :53:46.dribbling and passing in the same way a basket ballplayer with. They
:53:47. > :53:50.can block with their head, chest, thighs and knees but players cannot
:53:51. > :53:53.stand still with a ball for more than three seconds at a time.
:53:54. > :53:59.If a player commits a foul, the referee can award if free throw or
:54:00. > :54:03.seven metre shot. Taken from the seven metre line and given when the
:54:04. > :54:07.referee rules someone has prevented a goal-scoring opportunity.
:54:08. > :54:15.A free throw is like a free kick in football and generally taken from
:54:16. > :54:22.the spot where the foul occurred. Overtime is only played during the
:54:23. > :54:27.knockout phase. If this happens, teams play five minutes extra and
:54:28. > :54:30.only take another five bits if the school is tight.
:54:31. > :54:32.If they are still tied at the end, the result is decided by a shoot
:54:33. > :54:43.out. Neither of these sides have won a
:54:44. > :54:48.gold medal in handball before. Keep an eye on the Russian coach, his
:54:49. > :54:53.pitch side antics have gone viral in Russia. Russia are in blue. Paul
:54:54. > :55:05.Bray and Jack Nichols are your commentators.
:55:06. > :55:16.COMMENTATOR: so, forefront the pace has slowed. It is the right thing to
:55:17. > :55:30.do. Number 10 in the middle is just one goal from ten. Wasn't used at
:55:31. > :55:33.all in the semifinal. Grace Zaadi find the line. Stopped her from
:55:34. > :55:37.turning, but that is the third and final yellow card for the Russians.
:55:38. > :55:42.It was causing all manner of problems at the back for the line
:55:43. > :55:55.player. A very nice connection. The two who will be together next year
:55:56. > :56:09.after a move from Nice. Let's have a look as Lacrabere connect.
:56:10. > :56:15.So, Lacrabere has been quiet with the shooting. It is almost as if she
:56:16. > :56:20.is afraid of taking the shot for the moment. She is looking for the line.
:56:21. > :56:34.Probably she has the hardest shot in the French team. Well cut out this
:56:35. > :56:44.time. This is pushed up deep on her. Zaadi, right the keeper. She is
:56:45. > :56:52.pushed down. Good once more. The winger is doing a good defence job
:56:53. > :57:00.at the back for Russia. Comes out again. That was a flat ball through.
:57:01. > :57:05.Now they have got the win free. It wasn't a great pass, what a shame.
:57:06. > :57:11.They have to start again. It just needed a clean finish. Both teams
:57:12. > :57:20.making changes between and defence. Caught from behind, that will be
:57:21. > :57:25.off. Lacrabere has already had 80 minutes worth of suspensions in the
:57:26. > :57:29.competition. -- Edwige has already had 80 minutes of suspensions in the
:57:30. > :57:38.competition. She gets her first in the final. The Russian coach is not
:57:39. > :57:43.want to stay quiet on the bench. Bellowing instructions. Midway
:57:44. > :57:51.through the first off, Russia lead 4-3. Dominated by strong defending
:57:52. > :57:57.on both sides. There is Lacrabere. She gets back up to her feet, having
:57:58. > :58:01.been dropped to the ground. And conceding the foul. Here it is
:58:02. > :58:09.again. A little push their and ends up on her back. Quite a heavy
:58:10. > :58:13.landing, actually. The coach is just getting his opinion across. It is
:58:14. > :58:20.Russia who have got the player advantage here because the French
:58:21. > :58:31.are now six, trying to wriggle in. Another chance from the seven metre
:58:32. > :58:44.line for Vyakhireva. She also caught her our medical bit. Well done
:58:45. > :58:56.Bobrovnikova. The Russian goalkeeper has saved only one penalty. Four
:58:57. > :58:59.from four so far. 60 minutes played. France 3-5 Russia in the gold-medal
:59:00. > :59:09.match here. After a great favour last time from Leynaud, nowhere near
:59:10. > :59:18.getting that one. Bags come France they have changed now on the left
:59:19. > :59:29.wing. Demebele has been replaced after the captain only scored one
:59:30. > :59:47.from three. Prouvensier is coming back round. A three throw.
:59:48. > :59:55.Francois can bring on the seventh player, and there is the effort from
:59:56. > :00:00.Demebele. Ambitious, more than anything. Maybe it would have helped
:00:01. > :00:10.to have waited a couple of seconds. -- there is the effort from
:00:11. > :00:17.Prouvensier. Rattled into the back of the net, a thumbs up because
:00:18. > :00:25.Russia now have a 3-goal advantage. Russia 3-6 -- Russia 6-3 France.
:00:26. > :00:35.Russia are moving quickly from one side to the other. France comeback
:00:36. > :00:41.trailing 3-6 in the 18th minute of the final in the Rio 2016 women's
:00:42. > :00:47.handball competition. Deep defence by the Russians waiting at nine
:00:48. > :00:50.metres. For France, Pineau is back after being wounded in an earlier
:00:51. > :00:55.incident. She seems none the worse for it. She is a veteran playmaker.
:00:56. > :01:02.Here she comes. Haven't quite managed to exert her authority on
:01:03. > :01:18.the game. Neither has Lacrabere. That is a penalty. She wish after
:01:19. > :01:27.she came through. There it was. Vyakhireva trying to intercept, but
:01:28. > :01:31.to no avail. Up starts Pineau. Pineau converts it. The first
:01:32. > :01:43.penalty of the match for France. Pineau find a way past Pineau in the
:01:44. > :01:48.goal. Tucked it into the bottle right -- to write and Pineau scores.
:01:49. > :01:57.Russia 6- forefront with just 11 minutes to go in this first half.
:01:58. > :02:04.Incomes Bliznova. Hands it over to Bobrovnikova who we haven't seen
:02:05. > :02:13.much of. She has scored 27 goals in the tournament so far. It was
:02:14. > :02:17.Marennikova who was brought down, and another penalty for Russia.
:02:18. > :02:21.Marennikova is normally a wing player but she has been used it on
:02:22. > :02:30.the line quite a few times by the Russian coach. They still win the
:02:31. > :02:39.penalty and Ilina comes once more to the metre line. A top corner.
:02:40. > :02:43.Started to go down, Ilina knew nothing about that one. Put away
:02:44. > :02:48.very nicely. The second penalty score. The keeper goes down and
:02:49. > :03:06.offers her the top spot. Ilina says, thank you, I will do it. Well played
:03:07. > :03:12.by Ilina. France resume. Pineau has switched her left back position. The
:03:13. > :03:16.shot is just not ranged at all. We are past the 20 minute mark in the
:03:17. > :03:21.final. For Russia, so far so good. Not a lot of goals for them. But
:03:22. > :03:24.they managed to score seven times. More to the point, they have
:03:25. > :03:36.restricted France to just four goals in 20 minutes.
:03:37. > :03:43.Lots of changes by Russia at the back and they do have an
:03:44. > :03:47.embarrassment of choices. Bobrovnikova is the one who has come
:03:48. > :03:56.on now. A long-range shot of the post, but it has comeback for Russia
:03:57. > :03:59.on the rebound. Bliznova! But we have players lying inside and the
:04:00. > :04:04.whistle is blowing. The referee waves everybody out. Here is the
:04:05. > :04:16.incident again. Two going for the ball. Bliznova has been brought
:04:17. > :04:24.down. Frustration for Russia because they looked to be in a good position
:04:25. > :04:31.out on the right wing. But with the body lying around there were no
:04:32. > :04:40.defenders. France are defending big and defending strong at the moment.
:04:41. > :04:43.And the arm is up. Friends only have six passes and they have had a
:04:44. > :04:54.couple of those already. -- France only have six passes. Time-out is
:04:55. > :04:55.called by the Russians. Let's see what Trefilov has displayed to his
:04:56. > :05:39.team. Three goals up. So, the French coach looking to
:05:40. > :05:44.shuffle his players around a little bit. Telling them to make sure they
:05:45. > :05:50.work in their line, keep to their line of attack. Driving in on each
:05:51. > :05:58.side rather than across into each of the's way. Play is still running for
:05:59. > :06:02.the Russians may have used up some of the six passes allowed after the

:26:37. > :26:42.Mahama Cho has something to prove here, having lost in the last two

:28:15. > :28:29.Mahama Cho from Great Britain. An excellent start there. Mahama Cho is

:28:45. > :28:50.to the body will certainly score three points. Just a normal quick to
:28:51. > :28:55.the body would normally score one. -- normal kick. The increased level
:28:56. > :29:07.of difficulty gives him two. It was that on the board for Mardani. Tense
:29:08. > :29:09.times here. The lion's share of that Ron was for Mahama Cho against
:29:10. > :29:25.Sajjad Mardani. The winner of this will be one step

:29:55. > :30:04.loses a point. He needs to be careful. You can't lose
:30:05. > :30:09.concentration here. A little glimmer of light for Mahama Cho with that
:30:10. > :30:16.yellow card on the board. -- a little glimmer of light for Sajjad
:30:17. > :30:27.Mardani. Just trying to use that front like to defend. Needs to go
:30:28. > :30:31.the opposite foot forward. Mardani just leans back, manages to get the
:30:32. > :30:33.head out of the way. But that was very close. The head is worth three
:30:34. > :30:48.points. Plenty of support for Sajjad Mardani
:30:49. > :30:54.him the Carioca Arena 3. In the combat corner in Rio. Mahama Cho
:30:55. > :30:57.hasn't cornered at the moment using that front like, just to ward off
:30:58. > :31:04.the distance. Patients has been rewarded though far. 30 seconds left
:31:05. > :31:08.in the second round. Do you commit? Do you stick? Try the game without
:31:09. > :31:17.backing. Almost leaves a space for the chop. Conrad Jenkins pulling it
:31:18. > :31:21.back here. 3-2, the score. Still in favour of Mahama Cho. He needs to
:31:22. > :31:26.really pick this up and try to find another score at the end of this
:31:27. > :31:32.second round. The attempt at the body shots doesn't pay off. Into the
:31:33. > :31:41.last five seconds of that second round. It has been better far for
:31:42. > :31:45.the Iranian, Sajjad Mardani. Talk about patience, he knows Mahama
:31:46. > :31:54.Cho's game plan now. The man from Iran is working hard. Yes, he is.
:31:55. > :31:58.Just playing more into his strengths, trying to dictate the
:31:59. > :32:04.pace of this fight, control it. Trying to put Mahama Cho under
:32:05. > :32:08.pressure. One round remaining. It could be something as simple as they
:32:09. > :32:16.had shot here that really turns the game. It is all to play for, an
:32:17. > :32:17.Olympic semifinal is at stake. The man from Iran climbing back into
:32:18. > :32:35.this one. Last-minute instructions from the
:32:36. > :32:44.coaches. This could prove pivotal. An Olympic Games semifinal beckons.
:32:45. > :32:48.The men's plus 80 kilograms quarterfinal contest, Sajjad Mardani

:33:36. > :33:42.Both fighters covering each other so well. The scores are still at 3-2.
:33:43. > :33:47.The footwork and balance are so critical from both fighters right
:33:48. > :33:53.now. I think we're going to see a little video replay card here. From
:33:54. > :33:57.who and for what, we're not sure. Conrad Jenkins was checking in
:33:58. > :34:07.there. Just a little noise in the background. Checked out what it was.
:34:08. > :34:12.The noise levels are raving here. Back kicks, turning kickabout. They
:34:13. > :34:19.fight is beginning to bubble and here. Mahama Cho, less than one
:34:20. > :34:23.minute to hang in here. Mardani, likewise to try and produce
:34:24. > :34:30.something special. Tensions are hotting up. You can see the focus in
:34:31. > :34:33.the eyes with the occasional glance to the scoreboard after they've
:34:34. > :34:39.attempted to attack. Still both so hesitant.
:34:40. > :34:48.30 seconds in the third try. That front like to the body. Mahama Cho

:34:53. > :35:03.power punch. It does score. You can hear that in the back of the arena.
:35:04. > :35:07.He gets a little kyong-go for holding. The Jamaican referee
:35:08. > :35:13.doesn't like it. Sharp eyes from the referee, he sees it. The last ten
:35:14. > :35:17.seconds, goes for I had shot. Mahama Cho almost scores there. There is a
:35:18. > :35:24.headshot in return from Sajjad Mardani. Hits the back of the head,
:35:25. > :35:31.doesn't score. Tries of the defence, falls down. The kyong-go is going to
:35:32. > :35:35.prove so important here. Into the dying stages, the Olympic Games
:35:36. > :35:40.semifinal at stake. Do you go, do you stay? He was going to move into
:35:41. > :35:45.the semifinal? We will move into the golden point round. Yet again, the
:35:46. > :35:50.fourth round is being called on. How intense was that? I thought for a
:35:51. > :35:56.second Mardani had the headshot just a little short. Then Mahama Cho
:35:57. > :36:02.going to ground, giving away that kyong-go. How critical was that? It
:36:03. > :36:07.levelled the scores. What a performance from Mahama Cho. He has
:36:08. > :36:12.fought against Mardani before. He has never won. He is really taking
:36:13. > :36:16.the fight here. He must be able to sense a victory. Likewise, Mardani
:36:17. > :36:20.must be feeling the pressure but has the confidence to know that he has
:36:21. > :36:25.beaten Mahama Cho when two occasions previously. This was that punch.
:36:26. > :36:32.Credit to the referee, that was holding on the other side. Conrad
:36:33. > :36:36.Jenkins. I tell a lie, that looked like a perfectly clean punch. Unless
:36:37. > :36:43.he grabbed a leg. Regardless, we move on into the golden score. The
:36:44. > :36:48.men's plus 80 kilograms quarterfinal, Sajjad Mardani from
:36:49. > :36:55.Iran. Mahama Cho, the man from Great Britain. Whoever scores first, be it
:36:56. > :37:04.a kick or a punch, who will be smiling? Mardani or Cho?
:37:05. > :37:11.Massive tension, massive opportunity. Grabs a leg again,
:37:12. > :37:17.Mahama Cho, on the blindside of the referee. Tactics and timing required
:37:18. > :37:23.from Mardani. Tries the front like, pushes it out. Huge tension here.
:37:24. > :37:29.The distance between the two is quite noticeable. That's right. By
:37:30. > :37:32.going to have to move was that if they will register contact, but at
:37:33. > :37:38.the same time they want to stay out of reach. Mahama Cho was just out of
:37:39. > :37:44.reach. Only just. He managed to skip backwards. Into this open stance
:37:45. > :38:01.again, trying to draw the opponents forward. The opportunity is massive.
:38:02. > :38:04.The back kick is so close. I back kick from the Iranian, Sajjad
:38:05. > :38:08.Mardani. If it doesn't go to a proper skier it will be who has
:38:09. > :38:16.kicked the protected the most. -- a proper score.
:38:17. > :38:24.One shot for the Olympic Games semifinal. Mahama Cho in red, Sajjad
:38:25. > :38:31.Mardani in blue. Who will be into the semifinal? 30 seconds to decide.
:38:32. > :38:35.Both fighters are desperately trying to cover their pants. They don't
:38:36. > :38:43.want the opposition to make contact too often. -- cover their pads.
:38:44. > :38:51.Massive tension now. The golden point. You can get into the Olympic
:38:52. > :38:58.Games semifinal? One shot for victory. It is indeed Mahama Cho! He
:38:59. > :39:06.steals a semifinal spot. He was patient, he was precise. And now
:39:07. > :39:12.he's into the semifinal. Concentration was the key. Mahama
:39:13. > :39:19.Cho of Great Britain made us wait for it. Mardani, vested. Cho,
:39:20. > :39:27.successful. The man in red is into the heavyweight Olympic semifinal.
:39:28. > :39:34.STUDIO: That was hugely dramatic, through to a semifinal that will
:39:35. > :39:37.take place at 9:45pm your time tonight.
:39:38. > :39:40.Much later denied he may be in the gold fight.
:39:41. > :39:55.Here is a guide. Taekwondo originates in Korea and
:39:56. > :40:00.combines compact and self defence techniques. It became a fully
:40:01. > :40:04.fledged Olympic sport in Sydney in 2000 each contest has three rounds
:40:05. > :40:08.of two minutes and a competitor can win on points or if their opponent
:40:09. > :40:14.is unable to continue. Points are awarded for accurate blows to the
:40:15. > :40:18.head or body. Attacks to the body can be made using a fist or foot but
:40:19. > :40:20.an athlete can only use their feet to strike the area above the
:40:21. > :40:25.collarbone. Punches to the head and attacks to
:40:26. > :40:30.the spine are not allowed. The only techniques permitted our kicks where
:40:31. > :40:34.an athlete uses the area of the foot below the ankle, and punches using
:40:35. > :40:38.the knuckle part of a tightly clenched fist. Scoring depends on
:40:39. > :40:44.where or how an athlete has attacked. One point for a valid
:40:45. > :40:48.attack to the protector. If it is a tanning or reverse hit it is worth
:40:49. > :40:54.three points. Three points for a legal kicks to the head. A tanning
:40:55. > :41:00.kick achieves the maximum, four points. At the end, the competitor
:41:01. > :41:07.with the most points wins. In the event of a tie, a golden point time
:41:08. > :41:12.round is held. A sport at which Great Britain are
:41:13. > :41:17.really good. Jade Jones has retained her title. Earlier, I spoke to
:41:18. > :41:22.Lutalo Muhammad. Nick Hope has become something of an expert and he
:41:23. > :41:28.is ringside if that is what we call it.
:41:29. > :41:39.Matt sighed. Waiting for Bianca Walkden to come on. She has a big
:41:40. > :41:43.chance. -- mat side. Bianca was the world champion last
:41:44. > :41:48.year and has an incredible back story. She missed out on 2012 and
:41:49. > :41:52.did not know whether she would continue because she suffered a bad
:41:53. > :41:58.knee ligament injury. She had another cruciate ligament injury and
:41:59. > :42:10.somehow came back. She goes into this competition with an excellent
:42:11. > :42:13.chance of winning a medal you saw Mahama Cho who came through on a
:42:14. > :42:19.golden point. Bianca Walkden is hoping to advance
:42:20. > :42:19.to the semifinals of the heavyweight women's.
:42:20. > :42:34.She is champion. In terms of injury and difficulty to
:42:35. > :42:35.get here. Here she is. What an opponent, Matic, a fantastic fighter
:42:36. > :43:01.in her own right. Walkden trying to take control of
:43:02. > :43:06.the centre of the mat. This is about finding that range.
:43:07. > :43:10.Bianca Walkden is going straight in, testing that range. Great footwork
:43:11. > :43:16.from Mandic, staying far enough out of range and blocking.
:43:17. > :43:18.Wharton did well to stay on her feet.
:43:19. > :43:27.No mean feat for either fighter to get through this one.
:43:28. > :43:33.Mandic shuffling forward but forced to retreat.
:43:34. > :43:40.Here in the Carioca Arena in downtown Rio. Trying to shoot down
:43:41. > :43:42.stairs with these body shots, Wharton. A little punch that as
:43:43. > :44:00.well. -- Walkden. You can tell the concentration from
:44:01. > :44:05.Mandic. You can see her eyeing up her
:44:06. > :44:10.opponent. No lapse in concentration, so important to stay focused. Nice
:44:11. > :44:14.blocking from Bianca Walkden. Countering it.
:44:15. > :44:20.Waiting to score some points. This is on a knife edge, tense times
:44:21. > :44:27.here. Less than 30 left in the first.
:44:28. > :44:28.Either -- neither fighter committing at the moment.
:44:29. > :44:41.Well blocked. Somewhat tentative from Walkden,
:44:42. > :44:50.understandable given the occasion. Ten seconds left in the first. There
:44:51. > :44:53.is the first point on the board, Bianca Walkden finds it with the
:44:54. > :45:00.push kick just in time. Perfect timing just before the
:45:01. > :45:13.break. How critical was that? Putting doubt in Mandic's mind.
:45:14. > :45:18.Giving some encouragement here. We heard Paul Green saying, you are
:45:19. > :45:21.doing brilliant, Paul Green was an Olympian in Athens.
:45:22. > :45:26.Jade Jones and Bianca Walkden credit him with their development.
:45:27. > :45:31.This was developing into a really good contest.
:45:32. > :45:35.Walkden trying to get the leg over the top to make contact with the
:45:36. > :45:38.head, doesn't come off. Her defence of work has been so
:45:39. > :45:45.good. It doesn't take much to separate
:45:46. > :45:58.them. That push kick. The women's quarterfinal, Mellica
:45:59. > :46:03.Mandic from Serbia, Olympic champion from London. World champion Bianca
:46:04. > :46:10.Walkden from Great Britain, had to overcome serious knee injuries on
:46:11. > :46:16.both legs. She is a real fighter and that tenacity is so important.
:46:17. > :46:22.Mandic is only one point down. Back leg tanning kick, couldn't get
:46:23. > :46:30.the distance right. -- turning kick.
:46:31. > :46:33.At the moment, Walkden controlling the fight.
:46:34. > :46:44.Mandic under pressure. Moving to the edge of the ring.
:46:45. > :46:51.Concentration from Bianca Walkden impeccable.
:46:52. > :47:01.Is that eating away at the confidence of Mandic.
:47:02. > :47:04.You can see exactly from this view the distance between them, just
:47:05. > :47:08.millimetres missing. Mandic again on the front foot.
:47:09. > :47:22.Certainly no shortage of effort. Walkden clearly comfortable on both
:47:23. > :47:29.legs. Switching her stance, now an open stance, enticing Mandic in.
:47:30. > :47:36.I think we will see the video replay card from the British.
:47:37. > :47:47.Paul Green asking for a 3-point kick to the face, this could be crucial.
:47:48. > :48:01.The coach requesting a 3-point faith kick. Let us look, any contact?
:48:02. > :48:08.The bottom of the chain maybe? -- chin.
:48:09. > :48:17.Let us listen. Again.
:48:18. > :48:25.They are looking at the shots. It is unsuccessful. They have more
:48:26. > :48:29.than one angle to look. So, the card has now gone for this
:48:30. > :48:35.fight. Mellica Mandic back in contention.
:48:36. > :48:41.20 seconds left in the second. So little to choose between them.
:48:42. > :48:49.Walkden trying with a push kick. Mandic with the counter underneath.
:48:50. > :48:59.A battle of patients and position and a punch.
:49:00. > :49:06.As it catches the judges's eyes. Back to her coach, the Serbian.
:49:07. > :49:13.Bianca Walkden. Both cruciate ligaments in both legs, that is some
:49:14. > :49:17.tenacity to come back from that. It can knock your confidence, take
:49:18. > :49:20.you out of the sport for some time. Try to look at injuries as a
:49:21. > :49:26.positive. Perhaps the break was a good thing.
:49:27. > :49:33.She has come back, won the world title last year. And come to this
:49:34. > :49:40.Olympic Games in great condition. So close.
:49:41. > :49:55.It looks like contact there. Quite clear and specific.
:49:56. > :49:59.The same here. Mellica Mandic has been in this position before. The
:50:00. > :50:03.first Olympic Games for Walkden, defending Olympic champion from
:50:04. > :50:09.Serbia. The fighter in blue, only one point
:50:10. > :50:16.down. Trying with a straight leg first of
:50:17. > :50:19.all, Mandic. The shorter of them. Trying a back leg counter, Walkden
:50:20. > :50:24.gets one under the guard. Nice turning kicks to the body.
:50:25. > :50:31.She will be happy to pick off one point at a time.
:50:32. > :50:41.Trying again with the back leg turning kick.
:50:42. > :50:46.That two point gap, pressure on Mandic, looking a little ragged.
:50:47. > :50:58.Olympic champion. She knows how to pull it back. Walkden on the
:50:59. > :51:05.defence. The Serb on the attack. Getting closer.
:51:06. > :51:15.Walkden's covering is superior at the moment. Any attack, she is
:51:16. > :51:24.blocking. Countering. The last minute in the third.
:51:25. > :51:28.Not much steam on that punch. Nowhere near enough power to
:51:29. > :51:38.register. A punch to the body would give her one point.
:51:39. > :51:46.Walton is doing well with this defensive push kick. -- Walkden.
:51:47. > :51:54.Both fighters have been consistently engaged.
:51:55. > :52:02.You have two anticipate Mandic going to the head, she is two point down,
:52:03. > :52:06.a head shot with Big three. 20 seconds left. Bianca Walkden
:52:07. > :52:12.users that front leg against the mistakes one under the guard, a push
:52:13. > :52:18.kick, pushes her three points to the good.
:52:19. > :52:22.Mellica Mandic really putting on the pressure now. This has been an
:52:23. > :52:29.excellent performance. Avoiding the head shot. Pics of another one.
:52:30. > :52:33.Walkden closing in style. And Olympic semifinal, unchartered
:52:34. > :52:38.territory. What a fantastic move. Excellent
:52:39. > :52:42.stuff from Bianca Walkden. Mellica Mandic came in as Olympic
:52:43. > :52:47.champion. She leaves at the feet of Bianca
:52:48. > :52:56.Walkden of Great Britain into the semifinals.
:52:57. > :53:01.What a performance. STUDIO: That is a huge result. She
:53:02. > :53:06.has not at the reigning Olympic champion, she goes through to the
:53:07. > :53:10.last four, back in action in under one hour.
:53:11. > :53:16.Followed by Mahama Cho in his semifinal. We could yet have two
:53:17. > :53:23.more medals tonight in taekwondo. In case you were tuning in to watch
:53:24. > :53:25.the men's final of the ten metre platform final, there is no Tom
:53:26. > :53:32.Daley. He finished last. This is Qiu Bo,
:53:33. > :53:36.one of the top divers, silver medallist from London.
:53:37. > :53:39.Performing at the top of what you would expect from this level.
:53:40. > :53:45.Sensational stuff. It is on the Red Button. We will
:53:46. > :53:50.show you the best of it later. Updating you on handball, it is now
:53:51. > :54:02.online. Russia were leading at half-time.
:54:03. > :54:07.And 15-14, a narrow lead, with 12 minutes to go. Russia still in
:54:08. > :54:12.front, a new Olympic champion it would be.
:54:13. > :54:16.Available online. Currently on BBC Four is the final of the women's
:54:17. > :54:23.basketball and the USA who reign supreme in this sport a leading
:54:24. > :54:25.Spain 66-42. The Spanish captain was quoted as saying, we have to be
:54:26. > :54:38.realistic, we are there to enjoy it. In terms British action right now,
:54:39. > :54:43.although we predicted it to be in diving it is in fact in modern
:54:44. > :54:46.pentathlon. Very shortly will be seeing her Joseph Choong is getting
:54:47. > :54:52.in because he was in third place going into the riding section. They
:54:53. > :54:54.get a lot of horses they haven't met before. We will see that shortly
:54:55. > :55:07.after a guide to how it works. Modern pentathlon was introduced at
:55:08. > :55:13.the Stockholm games in 1912 and is the only sport specifically created
:55:14. > :55:17.for the Olympic Games. It involves 36 athletes competing in five
:55:18. > :55:21.disciplines. Fencing, swimming, horse riding, shooting and running
:55:22. > :55:26.with both men's and women's competitions taking place over two
:55:27. > :55:29.days. The total scores of the first three disciplines determined are
:55:30. > :55:33.starting positions for the final two combined events of shooting and
:55:34. > :55:38.running. The first person to cross the line at the end of the final
:55:39. > :55:41.event wins the gold medal. On day one athletes take place in the
:55:42. > :55:46.fencing round where everyone fences against each other with points
:55:47. > :55:49.awarded for every victory. The first event on day two is swimming where
:55:50. > :55:55.everyone takes part with points awarded based on times. Swimming is
:55:56. > :55:58.followed by a fencing bonus round where 36 athletes take part in 45
:55:59. > :56:07.second bounce. The horse riding events feeds competitors jumping 12
:56:08. > :56:11.-- sees competitors jumping 12 fences using a horse they have never
:56:12. > :56:15.ridden before. In the final event of running and shooting it is the
:56:16. > :56:18.athletes with the highest number of points which stop the event first.
:56:19. > :56:29.The remaining athletes with timed handicaps. The actual event includes
:56:30. > :56:32.800 metre intervals plus shooting. The gold medals go to the male and
:56:33. > :56:37.female athletes who crossed the line first.
:56:38. > :56:43.And so this is the scene at Deodoro this afternoon. It is not a very
:56:44. > :56:51.nice day, there has been a lot of rain. Jamie Cooke is well down the
:56:52. > :57:03.field. Joseph Choong is in third. We are picking up
:57:04. > :57:11.with horse riding. Commentary comes from Steph Cook and Eleanor Oldroyd.
:57:12. > :57:27.COMMENTATOR: Joe, like Jamie, has been working very well on his
:57:28. > :57:32.riding. This horse has a clear round with from Italy in the third round.
:57:33. > :57:35.Joe will be looking to repeat that here. -- with De Luca from Italy.
:57:36. > :57:55.Safely through the combination. Safe so far. We hardly dare breathe.
:57:56. > :58:07.Just add the final fences to go for Joe Choong. Just the final clatter.
:58:08. > :58:11.He said in order of preference he likes swimming, shooting, riding
:58:12. > :58:14.because it improves so much. He goes into first place in the competition
:58:15. > :58:21.with only two more pentathlete to go. 21-year-old Joe Choong has put
:58:22. > :58:27.himself in contention here in Rio. We just need him to have a really,
:58:28. > :58:31.really solid combined event. That is what we could ask for Joe Choong.
:58:32. > :58:36.That is a very, very good effort indeed. We saw Jimmy Maslin, I'm
:58:37. > :58:54.sure she will be pleased with that. El Geziry is currently ranked in
:58:55. > :58:59.second place. Just a reminder that what will happen is that when it
:59:00. > :59:04.comes to the combined event, the athlete who is ranked top will go
:59:05. > :59:10.off first and be first on to the shooting range. Then they will run
:59:11. > :59:14.at the loops of the stadium here. They will visit the shooting range
:59:15. > :59:18.four times with the aim of getting five clean hits as quickly as
:59:19. > :59:22.possible. Lots of things can change because the time you spend on the
:59:23. > :59:28.shooting range can vary hugely depending on how successful you are.
:59:29. > :59:45.The more shots UMIST, the more time it takes you. The moment, Omar El
:59:46. > :59:56.Geziry has got 14 faults. There is more. This will put Joe into even
:59:57. > :59:57.more contention for a medal. He's got some good combined athletes
:59:58. > :00:18.around him, though. This has not been kind to Omar El
:00:19. > :00:20.Geziry of Egypt. So, he will be dropping down the field as these
:00:21. > :00:38.fences go down. Just the final double to come. And
:00:39. > :00:42.he does it within the time, but that puts him in tenth place, Omar El
:00:43. > :00:49.Geziry. So, Joe Choong is still leading the competition. But that
:00:50. > :00:52.just shows how close it is. There is probably barely 30 seconds
:00:53. > :00:56.separating the first ten athletes which is nothing when it comes to
:00:57. > :00:58.this combined event which will be starting shortly after the riding
:00:59. > :01:19.event. One more pentathlete to go. This will be an important round
:01:20. > :01:23.coming up. We are now going to see Patrick Dogue. We have no idea how
:01:24. > :01:27.we have ended up with Patrick Dogue delaying. It is good news that he is
:01:28. > :01:42.OK. Maybe there was an issue with the horse? This is likely to be
:01:43. > :01:46.because if you remember, the previous contestant to have the same
:01:47. > :01:51.horse that Patrick Dogue was due to ride had a few problems with it. In
:01:52. > :01:56.actual fact, Patrick Dogue has taken the reserve horse. I imagine that
:01:57. > :02:07.that is why there has been a bit of a delay and he is jumping out of
:02:08. > :02:12.order. That is a fence down for Patrick Dogue. Would he have had a
:02:13. > :02:16.little bit of extra time to warm up? He wouldn't have been given extra
:02:17. > :02:19.time that it may have been given that it took longer to get the
:02:20. > :02:23.reserve horse from the stable and attacked up, so he missed his
:02:24. > :02:28.mounting time to be able to have the required 20 minutes before he was
:02:29. > :02:32.due in the ring. He would still only have had the 20 minutes and five
:02:33. > :02:37.practice fences but they are allowed. They are not given any
:02:38. > :02:40.extra time at all. But it looks as though his decision to take a
:02:41. > :02:46.reserve horse has certainly paid off there. Patrick Dogue was ranked
:02:47. > :02:53.fifth before this event. And the 12 faults for him. He goes into third
:02:54. > :03:03.place but it hasn't changed the order of the top. Joe Choong still
:03:04. > :03:25.leading with Amro El Geziry in second place.
:03:26. > :03:38.This is the final rider, Aleksander Lesun from Russia. He has had such a
:03:39. > :03:44.strong day. He was dominant in the fencing. 22nd in the swimming. But
:03:45. > :03:49.this was a very important round. All eyes in the British camp will be
:03:50. > :03:54.keeping an eye on Aleksander Lesun. Joe Choong is currently ranked in
:03:55. > :03:59.first place. Just the combined run and shoot to come. This is looking
:04:00. > :04:07.good so far for Aleksander Lesun. That point! He has also taken --
:04:08. > :04:17.until that point! He has also taken a reserve horse. That's a couple of
:04:18. > :04:24.rails. Aleksander Lesun was well out in the lead. There was certainly at
:04:25. > :04:30.least 20 seconds on him, the second placed athlete coming into the ride.
:04:31. > :04:34.Any rails but he has and will just bring him back towards the rest of
:04:35. > :04:36.the field and bring everybody else that bit more into contention for
:04:37. > :04:48.the gold medal. He is a multiple World Championship
:04:49. > :04:55.medallist, Aleksander Lesun. 21 faults into the final. He shakes his
:04:56. > :05:02.head, but he does go into first place. As things stand at the
:05:03. > :05:06.moment, Joe Choong of Great Britain is in second place and he will go
:05:07. > :05:17.off in the combined event nine seconds behind Aleksander Lesun with
:05:18. > :05:22.Ambro El Geziry in second place. Steph, Joe Choong is in with a real
:05:23. > :05:25.chance of a medal. A British man has never won an individual medal in
:05:26. > :05:30.modern pentathlon at an Olympic Games. He has got to keep his head
:05:31. > :05:34.when it comes to the shooting and the running as well. He is in there
:05:35. > :05:38.with some very experienced pentathlete. You can see the
:05:39. > :05:49.shooting range, and this is the ranking. That is the result of the
:05:50. > :05:52.riding. Iwamoto up there, but Joe Choong very handily placed. Just
:05:53. > :06:04.seven faults for pentathlon points. That is really not bad at all. He is
:06:05. > :06:11.in second place going into the combined run and shoot. Yesterday in
:06:12. > :06:22.the women's modern pentathlon, no medals at all. How likely is it that
:06:23. > :06:30.Joe Choong could bag one here? Hello, sorry, a little pause there.
:06:31. > :06:35.Joe Choong's medal prospects? He is second place just after that right.
:06:36. > :06:39.Fantastically placed, you've got to say. He picked up a penalty in the
:06:40. > :06:44.fencing in the preliminary round two days ago for a wire infringement.
:06:45. > :06:50.That, I hope, would be clawing away in the back of his mind. That was
:06:51. > :06:54.ten seconds. Without that, he would be leader. But, he is in the mix and
:06:55. > :06:57.nine seconds is not a lot to make up in the combined event of shooting
:06:58. > :07:03.and running which will come in an hour or so. In the lead up to this
:07:04. > :07:08.Olympics all the talk was about world number one Jamie Cooke. What
:07:09. > :07:13.has happened to him? He fenced terribly. He finished in 28 position
:07:14. > :07:16.in the fencing preliminary round. From that far back no matter how
:07:17. > :07:22.well you do on the following events it is very difficult to make up the
:07:23. > :07:26.ground. He swam brilliantly. He was the top swimmer. He had a solid
:07:27. > :07:30.ride. But I'm afraid he's just coming from too far back in the
:07:31. > :07:35.combined. It's very, very unlikely that we will see a medal for Jamie
:07:36. > :07:38.Cooke here. We will keep you up-to-date on the combined run
:07:39. > :07:46.shoot. It will be an exciting finish. Just to confirm the
:07:47. > :07:51.standings... Not much of an advantage over Joe Choong, and they
:07:52. > :07:59.stagger them. Lesun will start the run shoot first. You can see Jamie
:08:00. > :08:06.Cooke down in 16th place. If you were trying to make up time, you
:08:07. > :08:12.could do it. Samantha Murray and came up from fourth to take the
:08:13. > :08:15.silver medal in London. Brazil, obviously, have got problems ahead
:08:16. > :08:19.of them in terms of the hosting of the Paralympic games. You will be
:08:20. > :08:23.aware of the stories published at the moment about that. They had
:08:24. > :08:27.early problems with attendances here and with stadiums not ready. But
:08:28. > :08:32.overrule looking at the games on their performance that heading for
:08:33. > :08:36.their best ever medal tally. Rio itself, and the locals of Rio, this
:08:37. > :08:57.has been their response to being hosts of the Olympic Games.
:08:58. > :09:13.COMMENTATOR: Rafaela Silva of Brazil.
:09:14. > :09:19.She has the entire home ground behind her. What an amazing moment!
:09:20. > :09:40.Rafaela Silva wins gold. COMMENTATOR: Thiago Motta bags the
:09:41. > :09:56.silver. The new Olympic champion! -- Thiago bags the silver. Usain Bolt
:09:57. > :09:59.gets it. The odyssey continues. This is what it means to get an Olympic
:10:00. > :10:16.medal in front of your home crowd. The boy who grew up on the streets
:10:17. > :10:19.of Salvador has just been crowned Olympic champion. Brazil win their
:10:20. > :10:26.first medal in beach volleyball in the men's competition!
:10:27. > :10:51.The sites and sounds of Rio while the games have been hosted. More
:10:52. > :10:55.tomorrow with the closing ceremony. The action takes precedence. The
:10:56. > :11:00.men's final of the 10 m platform is under way. No Tom Daley in it. He
:11:01. > :11:09.didn't qualify for the final. This is Qiu Bo who took the Silver Medal
:11:10. > :11:15.in London. Just beaten over the line by David Boudia. He usually produces
:11:16. > :11:24.the most stunning dives. Let's join Leon Taylor and Bob Ballard.
:11:25. > :11:31.That could be the smoking gun, right there, that shows us that Qiu Bo is
:11:32. > :11:39.not going to win that Olympic gold that he narrowly missed out on four
:11:40. > :11:42.years ago. He has made a right bodge job on the finish this afternoon
:11:43. > :11:53.dive. By his standards, that is woeful. Oh, dear. That was more
:11:54. > :11:57.Chewbacca than Qiu Bo. He's not looking at the screen because he
:11:58. > :12:02.knows it's not good. It's not good in any way, shape or form. That puts
:12:03. > :12:09.him at the bottom of the standings. He's gone from second to 12th. Wow.
:12:10. > :12:23.You can't see this man screwing up, can you?
:12:24. > :12:34.He faulters ever so slightly. Wow. The door was wide-open then. Aisen
:12:35. > :12:38.Chen could have stamped his authority on this contest and left
:12:39. > :12:45.everyone in his wake. This is a huge dive. This is the first ever we've -
:12:46. > :12:49.I say it every time - I cannot believe the flexibility, that pike
:12:50. > :12:53.shape, his forehead is in line with his ankles, misses the diving board
:12:54. > :13:03.and misses his entry. Not as bad as Qiu Bo. Look at him slapping the
:13:04. > :13:15.water. So the end of the first round. Chen annoyed with himself
:13:16. > :13:18.because he's relinquished the lead. STUDIO: As in London, the Chinese
:13:19. > :13:23.favourites are feeling the pressure a bit. We pick up live coverage of
:13:24. > :13:27.this men's 10 m platform final. No Tom Daley and I should think he's
:13:28. > :13:32.watching this with great frustration because the favourite and the second
:13:33. > :13:36.favourite making mistakes so far. Here are Bob Ballard and Leon Taylor
:13:37. > :13:43.to tell us more. COMMENTATOR: The end of round two,
:13:44. > :13:48.the Olympic champion was leading. He's staying right at the top of the
:13:49. > :13:52.pile. As you have just seen on BBC One, a couple of faulters from the
:13:53. > :13:58.Chinese might just have opened the door for him. Or might open the door
:13:59. > :14:02.for quite a few others in the line-up, who might see the
:14:03. > :14:06.opportunity of sneaking through because we thought, on the basis of
:14:07. > :14:11.what we saw in the semifinal today, that it would be the two chienees
:14:12. > :14:16.and somebody else. But maybe not now -- Chinese.
:14:17. > :14:22.He finds it a little bit tricky to get balanced on that arm stand. But
:14:23. > :14:44.he absolutely buries his finish. He's
:14:45. > :14:48.diving at his very best here. He has tape on his tricep, under his arms,
:14:49. > :14:50.over the top of his shoulders. Juf a few more dives left in him, looks
:14:51. > :14:59.like. Remember the marks without lines
:15:00. > :15:02.through them are the ones that count towards the total, multiplied by the
:15:03. > :15:14.degree of difficulty. In that case 82. 5. Now Wolfram, first of the two
:15:15. > :15:21.Germans. Oh, wow. I was not expecting that. Wolfram is flying.
:15:22. > :15:28.That is three out of three to the best of his ability. Wow, I'm
:15:29. > :15:31.slightly confounded as to where he's finding this kind of form from.
:15:32. > :15:36.Because he has not been showing this in training. He's been very good in
:15:37. > :15:40.prelims and semis, but he's stepped up to a whole new level. Wow, look
:15:41. > :15:44.at the scores coming his way on this dive.
:15:45. > :15:53.Will he put pressure on David Boudia, who is the leader? Was the
:15:54. > :15:59.leader and is just still the leader. Wolfram is now two points behind
:16:00. > :16:10.David Boudia. This contest has really got under way in a big way.
:16:11. > :16:24.Garcia is to come with a big tariff in his dives.
:16:25. > :16:28.Neat and tidy, as he has been all the way through, the prelims,
:16:29. > :16:37.semifinals. Just his opening round dive here in the final was a little
:16:38. > :16:44.lacklustre. This is sharp, strong, powerful and he's right on the
:16:45. > :16:47.money. So, well, you can't fault it. Marginally lower degree of
:16:48. > :16:52.difficulty than some of the other arm-stand dives we have seen and we
:16:53. > :16:59.will continue to see. It's good though.
:17:00. > :17:06.Keeping in the mix. A little bit behind the top two, but we're not
:17:07. > :17:17.halfway yet. There's plenty of time for reparation.
:17:18. > :17:29.Always takes a very long time over this dive.
:17:30. > :17:32.That works for him. Because that's a wonderful reverse three-and-a-half
:17:33. > :17:37.in the tuck position. Good, strong jump. Miles away from the diving
:17:38. > :17:40.board. If anything, just a little loose as he comes out of the dive
:17:41. > :17:44.there, not quite holding enough tension to keep all the splash down.
:17:45. > :17:51.But this will be another mid-80s because of the degree of difficulty
:17:52. > :17:54.at 3. 4. Nice work. Minibaev, slightly faltering round two, better
:17:55. > :18:01.round three. Has he given himself too much to do to haul himself back
:18:02. > :18:10.into contention for a medal? Fourth place. That was at the London 2012
:18:11. > :18:12.Games. A man who made the final. Disappointingly from a German
:18:13. > :18:22.perspective and indeed from his, finished tenth in London.
:18:23. > :18:30.Well done! He's had a lot of trouble with this dive. His feet come
:18:31. > :18:35.incredibly close to the platform. This is much, much better from our
:18:36. > :18:39.very experienced German diver. Plaitens his feet getting them above
:18:40. > :18:42.the board there. He knows where the finish of this dive is. That is
:18:43. > :18:51.silky smooth and this is going to be one of our highest scoring arm-stand
:18:52. > :18:58.dives. His feet just come above the platform there. He's got his boots
:18:59. > :19:04.on. One on and one off, half a boot. Reboot, robot, let's go. Half a
:19:05. > :19:10.Nancy Sinatra there! He moves into third place.
:19:11. > :19:19.This man fifth at the worlds last year.
:19:20. > :19:28.I mention it every time. This guy has got either giant hands or
:19:29. > :19:32.magical powers, because he just manages to disappear every time he
:19:33. > :19:38.hits the water. Even there, he kind of flickers through the water. He
:19:39. > :19:42.didn't have a massive account of control, the judges will have seen
:19:43. > :19:47.that shimmy he performs. Normally you get punched every which way by
:19:48. > :19:50.the water. But he keeps it down. Into the jacuzzi to get warm. More
:19:51. > :19:55.splash out of the jacuzzi than in the water. He's incredibly slight,
:19:56. > :20:02.though. He is. We move on to the slightly more muscular, certainly
:20:03. > :20:36.much hair ier, Ivan Garcia. Oh, it was his bogey dive and it is
:20:37. > :20:39.bogeys for Ivan Garcia. Way over. That is a huge surfboard moment.
:20:40. > :20:43.He's upgraded this to back three-and-a-half in the pike. He's
:20:44. > :20:47.having a good chat to himself there, don't know what he's saying, but he
:20:48. > :20:53.didn't work. Helens too far back from the diving board, which throws
:20:54. > :20:57.off your control and surf's up. I was reading his lips, he was saying,
:20:58. > :21:01."Leon Taylor's going to cane me for this if I get it wrong again." He's
:21:02. > :21:07.quite right. That's going to hurt. He was one of the potential
:21:08. > :21:17.medallists here today. That may have completely derailed his chances.
:21:18. > :21:29.Qiu Bo, what's on your mind? Great start, dreadful second round.
:21:30. > :21:37.The current world champion. That's what's on his mind - dare I say it,
:21:38. > :21:43.I believe that will be perfect tens from most of the judges. If they do
:21:44. > :21:46.not give it a ten, I do not know what they're taking points off for.
:21:47. > :21:52.The judges don't get to see the replay. If anything, he's got
:21:53. > :21:57.slightly plait feet, other than that -- flat feet, other than that, that
:21:58. > :22:01.is superior from Qiu Bo, who has got some work to do. Will the judges
:22:02. > :22:06.give it tens? It looks like they have. Oh, yes. Straight tens. Bingo.
:22:07. > :22:11.First time we've seen that in any competition this week. Every single
:22:12. > :22:16.judge believing it's worth the highest mark. That's what he gets,
:22:17. > :22:21.times his degree of difficulty and there you have your first
:22:22. > :22:24.three-figure score of the final. Tom Daley's got the highest that we've
:22:25. > :22:29.seen in the competition, that was in the prelims, 103. That is getting
:22:30. > :22:35.close to it, 102. Suddenly gone from 12th to fifth.
:22:36. > :22:40.Might be down in sixth after the next diver.
:22:41. > :22:43.He led early on and a man who's not yet in 2016 been beaten in any
:22:44. > :23:02.competition in which he's competed. Oh, that's his response and a fine
:23:03. > :23:08.response it is. He's still a little way from the summit. A long way to
:23:09. > :23:15.go to that Olympic Gold Medal, but this is going to help. He's
:23:16. > :23:20.capitalised on the mistake that Qiu Bo made in round two. This is, well,
:23:21. > :23:30.the 100 points coming his way nearly as well, if not just over. It's 3. 6
:23:31. > :23:37.degree of difficulty. He absolutely disappears. Look at those marks. Qiu
:23:38. > :23:46.Bo got 102. Anything you can do, I can improve upon and that's exactly
:23:47. > :23:52.what Chen aisen has done. So he has now overtaken David Boudia. What a
:23:53. > :23:57.contest, what a competition, as it was four years ago, nip and tuck all
:23:58. > :24:00.the way. Look at Martin Wolfram there, just two points behind David
:24:01. > :24:22.Boudia. China, USA, two Germans in third and fourth.
:24:23. > :24:33.Probably from Woo Haram down, not in medal contention.
:24:34. > :24:37.It's filled up considerably in here. Looking around from where we
:24:38. > :24:47.started, which was about 45 minutes ago, it seemed to be packed on the
:24:48. > :24:55.far side. This is the last diving competition for Rio 2016.
:24:56. > :25:07.Woo Ha-ram will go for a back three and a half somersault with hike for
:25:08. > :25:14.round four. -- with pike. That is an underwhelming start. Sadly Woo
:25:15. > :25:19.unable to control his entry into the water. When he begins he backs off a
:25:20. > :25:22.little bit which means his feet go with him and the judges will
:25:23. > :25:32.penalising heavily for that massive over rotation. He is one of the few
:25:33. > :25:36.people here doing three and ten, did the three meter board not with a
:25:37. > :25:41.great result. But the ten metre board have proven to be the far more
:25:42. > :25:49.prolific for him. He's made the last 12, but may find himself very close
:25:50. > :25:52.to the bottom of that 12 after that 57.6. One off the bottom of the
:25:53. > :25:58.moment is the Australian Domonic Bedggood. 3.3 degree of difficulty
:25:59. > :26:11.on this back three and a half somersault with tuck.
:26:12. > :26:17.Well, we are seeing the wheels start to come off a little bit now. I'm
:26:18. > :26:24.squirming in my seat. Maybe it's lack of experience on Domonic
:26:25. > :26:29.Bedggood's part? Not managing to stay cool, calm and collected.
:26:30. > :26:40.Here's another one with a massive over rotation. Surfboard moment, MTB
:26:41. > :26:49.pool and losing sight. -- emptying the pool. There will be no next time
:26:50. > :26:53.here with that died, because it will be the World Championships before we
:26:54. > :27:00.see him at the highest level once again. -- that live. David Boudia in
:27:01. > :27:05.second place. He will be looking to hold onto that title for as long as
:27:06. > :27:13.he can. Three very good dives. Here is number four.
:27:14. > :27:25.It's so good, isn't it? Wow! Back three and a half in the pike
:27:26. > :27:32.position. This is our defending Olympic champion and that is exactly
:27:33. > :27:37.what he's doing at the moment. The core strength required to stay in
:27:38. > :27:46.that pike shape. People sit around nicely. Will he get nines? Just
:27:47. > :27:54.under. Eight and two 8.5s will count towards the total. Looking like he's
:27:55. > :28:05.going to be pushing for a top three place. He's got enough in his
:28:06. > :28:09.armoury this year. Now, the forward four and a half at all the main
:28:10. > :28:18.protagonists do. It's worth a lot, but also a lot of risk and reward
:28:19. > :28:22.for Sanchez. Oh, high degree of difficulty. It's horrendous when it
:28:23. > :28:27.goes wrong. But when it goes right it is damaging to the rest of the
:28:28. > :28:34.field. This is the dive you can get over 100 points on if you score nine
:28:35. > :28:45.from the judges. 9.5 to get over. We've seen few do it before. That's
:28:46. > :28:53.a great expression! He's happy. The judges... Oh, he doesn't quite go
:28:54. > :28:59.over 100. At 98. 3.7 degrees of difficulty takes up two wards the
:29:00. > :29:07.three figures. Only the Chinese competitors have done over 100, Chen
:29:08. > :29:12.isomer and Qiu Bo. This is the man who has really surprised us in the
:29:13. > :29:16.final. Can he keep it going? Martin Wolfram of Germany. Back three and a
:29:17. > :29:22.half somersault. A high tariff dive or the German. He's just let that go
:29:23. > :29:29.short of vertical. Wolfram is such an impressive athlete. Can you see
:29:30. > :29:33.him back? Is he holding his shoulder? He dislocated his shoulder
:29:34. > :29:38.twice at the Olympic Games in London 2012. He has had two lots of
:29:39. > :29:42.shoulder surgery and that dive would do his shoulder any good. That could
:29:43. > :29:47.be horrendous to go through the shoulder joint. I've had multiple
:29:48. > :29:52.shoulder surgery myself and I have tears in my eyes watching him hit
:29:53. > :29:57.the water. That's horrendous if he has caught his shoulder. He's
:29:58. > :30:03.holding on, he's got tape around it. I hope he's OK. He was in all sorts
:30:04. > :30:11.of agony in London. We hope you will carry on, but that is a big dent to
:30:12. > :30:17.his medal aspirations. 59.4 means he won't be around the top three after
:30:18. > :30:24.this, or unlikely to be. Now, Rafael Quintero, trained in America. It's a
:30:25. > :30:29.low degree of difficulty, 3.2 compared to many of the other
:30:30. > :30:33.athletes' choice of dive in this group. They will do a twist dive at
:30:34. > :30:38.different points in the programme but everyone will complete a dive
:30:39. > :30:45.with a twist in it. This is Quintero's. It is bang on the money.
:30:46. > :30:49.He will get close to 80 points. The execution is spot on. It is like a
:30:50. > :30:57.double helix when they wrapped into those twist. He has done, whatever
:30:58. > :31:03.happens, he has done exceptionally well to pick himself up from being
:31:04. > :31:07.nowhere near the mix in the Welds last year. We saw signs that the
:31:08. > :31:18.test event here earlier in the year that he might be quite special. --
:31:19. > :31:24.in the Worlds. 81.6, in case you missed it. That replicates what he
:31:25. > :31:28.got in round three. Now, the arms stand back. Double somersault for
:31:29. > :31:32.Victor Minibaev. I think the rain has tear. It rained for the first
:31:33. > :31:41.part of the competition but it does seem to have disappeared now.
:31:42. > :31:49.You said to be rain has disappeared. Is that Minibaev's chances
:31:50. > :31:56.disappearing? It's a good effort. I love to watch 's style of diving,
:31:57. > :32:00.such a quick twist. Rapid, even in slow motion it looked like he was
:32:01. > :32:05.twisting around as if he was a tornado. So, so quick. Doesn't quite
:32:06. > :32:15.get the control required. Over rotating, losing his Speedos as he
:32:16. > :32:22.goes into the water! But says he over rotated and haven't done his
:32:23. > :32:32.drawstrings are properly. An exhibitionist. Keep your pants on,
:32:33. > :32:36.Viktor. Sascha Klein, we know he can do it at the highest level because
:32:37. > :32:46.he did in Barcelona in 2013. And in Shanghai in 2011. Oh, no! He
:32:47. > :32:53.cancelled his flight. Oh, my word. He opened up poorly and that is a
:32:54. > :32:56.debacle. So he got the take off but didn't believe in it and he's gone
:32:57. > :33:06.right over onto the front side of his body. That is not very
:33:07. > :33:11.comfortable physically. And of course mentally and emotionally he
:33:12. > :33:14.will be distraught. The score tells you everything. Who wants this
:33:15. > :33:23.bronze medal? Sascha Klein does not at the moment. I think you did, he's
:33:24. > :33:27.just cost himself at the moment. A poor start. You can't have a poor
:33:28. > :33:30.round in a competition of this kind of calibre. Which might again just
:33:31. > :33:37.open the door for the Frenchman, Benjamin Auffret. He hasn't done
:33:38. > :33:45.much from over three rounds so far. A back three and a half somersaults.
:33:46. > :33:56.What a dive from our Frenchman! That is a firecracker. Here it goes.
:33:57. > :34:01.Boom! Back three and a half in the tuck position. 3.3 degree of
:34:02. > :34:07.difficulty. We just saw Sascha Klein bailout on his. Our Frenchman is
:34:08. > :34:16.right on it. That is so, so well executed. It's not far away from a
:34:17. > :34:21.ten for me anyway. So clean into the water. He hasn't made any splash yet
:34:22. > :34:31.on all of his dives. The coach is loving it. Looking terrific at the
:34:32. > :34:42.Olympic Games 2016, if a bit pasty. Benjamin Auffret, 94.05 is his mark.
:34:43. > :34:49.He is now nine behind Sanchez and 17 behind David Boudia. Ivan Garcia,
:34:50. > :34:54.his easiest dive, if you can call it that. The verse three and a half. He
:34:55. > :35:00.has got some ground to make up. That will certainly help him. He needs to
:35:01. > :35:15.be very his way back into the somehow. It's going to be a lot of
:35:16. > :35:18.hard work. -- he needs to beaver. Making the rotation very, very
:35:19. > :35:25.efficient. Giving himself a chance to pop out of that. Places the dive
:35:26. > :35:30.beautifully. Good marks, but that round three might have just cost
:35:31. > :35:33.him. He has got that big, big dive which you don't want to miss in
:35:34. > :35:38.round five will stop if he gets that right, that is, what, 120 more
:35:39. > :35:50.points? He would have to get it really right. Where is Bo after the
:35:51. > :36:00.last round? He is in sixth place. This has a 3.6 difficulty. He seems
:36:01. > :36:06.to levitate! He is not much taller than Yoda, and he is not green.
:36:07. > :36:13.Those are the few differences. He has superpowers and Jedi powers, and
:36:14. > :36:22.he will need them now to catch up after an unusual second-round
:36:23. > :36:33.falter. If Chew-Bo can come back from that, he is Yoda. He is the
:36:34. > :36:37.Chinese Lazarus. We have not totally written off his chances, but it
:36:38. > :36:43.would be a really big uphill climb for him to get back into the top
:36:44. > :36:51.two. He is in the top two right now, until this man takes the board
:36:52. > :36:54.anyway. Chen Aisen, our leader after round three. David Boudia is still
:36:55. > :37:02.in second place if he gets this right. This is a 3.6 degrees of
:37:03. > :37:08.difficulty. Well, it's exactly the same dive. Not quite as well, but,
:37:09. > :37:11.you know what? He isn't bothered, or it seems he isn't bothered by the
:37:12. > :37:19.pressure, responding to his team-mate by throwing down the
:37:20. > :37:23.gauntlet. He started -- I am starting to squirm up in the
:37:24. > :37:28.commentary box. No squirming from Chen Aisen. He will get well over 90
:37:29. > :37:33.points and he has a lead which may not be caught. The mark, he has been
:37:34. > :37:39.up there pretty much all the way through. The only time he was in
:37:40. > :37:44.below 80 was in round two. That is a huge mark once again and there is a
:37:45. > :37:46.bit of a lead. Listen to the music in the background. Everyone's up on
:37:47. > :38:06.their feet dancing. 371 lays 354. We will have a quick look at 7-11,
:38:07. > :38:13.see where Ivan Garcia is. Ninth place with a big round to come -- a
:38:14. > :38:16.big dive to come in round five. STUDIO: and you will see rounds five
:38:17. > :38:25.and six on the Red Button. Diving coverage will continue live. We will
:38:26. > :38:29.show you the best of it later. We have some exciting taekwondo coming
:38:30. > :38:33.up first. But let me show you what happened on the handball. Russia in
:38:34. > :38:39.the end emerged victorious. They beat France 22-19. A 14th gold medal
:38:40. > :38:48.for Russia at these games, but a first in handball. Exciting scenes
:38:49. > :38:57.for them! And in basketball, the USA when again. 101-72, a sixth
:38:58. > :39:01.consecutive gold for the USA, their eighth in total. They now have a
:39:02. > :39:08.master run of 49 games unbeaten at the Olympics going back to Barcelona
:39:09. > :39:12.in 1992. A first medal ever for Spain in basketball who took silver.
:39:13. > :39:16.There is huge excitement here in Brazil as their footballers try to
:39:17. > :39:19.win the Olympic gold medal for the very first time, captained by Neymar
:39:20. > :39:25.who has given up the chance of playing for Barcelona, instead
:39:26. > :39:29.wanting to play here for Brazil. To achieve something that Pelly never
:39:30. > :39:34.did and Rinaldo never did and Ronald Ennio never did. Could Neymar be the
:39:35. > :39:39.one to lead them to victory? They are up against Germany which is a
:39:40. > :39:45.coincidence, you might even call it ironic because Germany thrashed them
:39:46. > :39:48.7-1 in the semifinals of the World Cup. It will be some gold medal
:39:49. > :39:56.match. COMMENTATOR: what a final we have
:39:57. > :40:05.two years on from the most infamous game in Brazil's history.
:40:06. > :40:31.Goal! 5-0! Humiliated and taken apart.
:40:32. > :40:44.What is it about Brazil when they host the tournament, the pressure is
:40:45. > :41:05.all on them. The Gold Medal final beckons for the
:41:06. > :41:06.host nation. The hope is that this Olympic campaign will mark the
:41:07. > :41:29.beginning of the bounce back. Safe to say, this was the hottest
:41:30. > :41:32.ticket in town, the Maracana absolutely packed and they are just
:41:33. > :41:38.under way in the Gold Medal match. Brazil against Germany. That is live
:41:39. > :41:42.on BBC Four. We'll join it on BBC Two at around about 10. 30pm.
:41:43. > :41:45.But the reason we are not showing you the football and we are not
:41:46. > :41:49.showing you the diving, is that there is another chance, in fact two
:41:50. > :41:55.chances, of a medal for Great Britain in taekwondo. We have two
:41:56. > :41:57.athletes involved in semifinals. We saw Bianca Walkden, the world
:41:58. > :42:01.champion, take out the Olympic champion. It means tonight, shortly,
:42:02. > :42:12.she'll be fighting for a place in the Gold Medal match. That was a
:42:13. > :42:22.great one to the head there. Great head shot. She scores again,
:42:23. > :42:34.totally outclassed here the lady from Papua New Guinea. An Olympic
:42:35. > :42:39.semifinal, unchartered territory. What a performance.
:42:40. > :42:44.Bianca Walkden has had a terrible time with injuries. She missed
:42:45. > :42:48.London because of them. She is a housemate of Jade Jones. They train
:42:49. > :42:52.with Paul Green who is there telling Bianca exactly what he wants her to
:42:53. > :42:55.do in this semifinal. She knows if she wins it at the very least, a
:42:56. > :43:04.Silver Medal is guaranteed. But a Gold Medal is what she has come here
:43:05. > :43:08.for. And John Cullen and Michaela Breeze are your commentators.
:43:09. > :43:11.COMMENTATOR: Your initial thoughts? Both fighters with serious
:43:12. > :43:20.credentials. Bianca Walkden comes into this as defending world
:43:21. > :43:24.champion. Versus the runner up at the World Championships. But they
:43:25. > :43:25.were in different categories. Big points to prove and big points to
:43:26. > :44:05.play for. A battle for distance and at the
:44:06. > :44:09.moment, it's Bianca Walkden holding the centre of the ring.
:44:10. > :44:14.Both fighters very evenly positioned right now. Open stance. Bianca
:44:15. > :44:16.coming forward, attempting a power punch. Doesn't make contact, or not
:44:17. > :44:27.with sufficient force. Zheng on the back foot, the Youth
:44:28. > :44:28.Olympic Games champion, from China. Can she make it through to the
:44:29. > :44:41.Olympic final here? Position of the body, turning
:44:42. > :44:42.themselves side ways, using the arm and shoulders to cover, make
:44:43. > :44:56.themselves a smaller target. Both of them over six feet, not easy
:44:57. > :45:00.to make yourself a smaller target. We will see them changing tactics
:45:01. > :45:13.right now. They're both going for the same kick.
:45:14. > :45:28.The sensors on the bottom of the socks, they have to whack off the
:45:29. > :45:31.body armour, as Walkden kicks the shin there.
:45:32. > :45:37.In terms of the scoreboard, nothing doing. In terms of aggression,
:45:38. > :45:43.Walkden slightly edging it. Yes, I would agree with you. Walkden's
:45:44. > :45:47.attitude, to this semifinal, is very aggressive. She wants to get through
:45:48. > :45:50.to that final, wants to emulate the success of her team-mate, Jade
:45:51. > :45:56.Jones. She's already been victorious. Absolutely. Shuyin
:45:57. > :45:59.Zheng, she comes from a fine reputation and background of Chinese
:46:00. > :46:05.fighters in the heavyweight division. So big shoes to fill.
:46:06. > :46:09.Walkden trying to fill those with a little punch there. Nothing doing on
:46:10. > :46:26.the scoreboard yet. Don't forget about punching. Paul
:46:27. > :46:30.Green there, the British coach saying don't forget the punch in the
:46:31. > :46:42.clinch and also catch her on the reset, which means to get them when
:46:43. > :46:47.they're about to kick again. This is opening up nicely.
:46:48. > :46:52.A steady start, the Chinese fighter in blue. Again blocking. Controlling
:46:53. > :46:57.the distance, Walkden trying to walk forward. Flick to the body. Tense
:46:58. > :47:03.times for both fighters. Tense times. You can see the
:47:04. > :47:06.concentration. Bianca looking for reassurance from her coach during
:47:07. > :47:09.the break. Really coming in aggressively.
:47:10. > :47:13.Arm out to try and stop anything getting through.
:47:14. > :47:16.Zheng Shuyin trying to come forward again, using that front leg,
:47:17. > :47:27.whistles past the leg there of Walkden..
:47:28. > :47:35.Walkden almost getting through. Zheng Shuyin being equally as
:47:36. > :47:39.aggressive. This is a real stalemate, as you can tell from the
:47:40. > :47:42.scoreboard. Tries with the push kick there.
:47:43. > :47:46.She comes on the reset and goes for the punch through. Tactically
:47:47. > :47:55.correct. Technically not enough power yet. Tense times. Both
:47:56. > :47:59.fighters wanting to commit here. Not overcommitting, leaving a mistake.
:48:00. > :48:06.Walkden on the back foot. This is a test of patience now. It's the first
:48:07. > :48:11.time we've seen a change in stance. Back to the open stance. That was
:48:12. > :48:16.close for a kick to the head from Zheng Shuyin.
:48:17. > :48:23.A real impasse at the moment. A couple of little forays upstairs
:48:24. > :48:36.from the Chinese fighter. Push kick from Walkden. She's got a
:48:37. > :48:39.good one there, chop kick attempt there from Zheng Shuyin. Couldn't
:48:40. > :48:57.quite get it though. The second round is in the books.
:48:58. > :49:03.Tense times for both fighters. I think Zheng Shuyin is giving it
:49:04. > :49:07.everything. Blocking, excellent. Struggling there. She's feeling
:49:08. > :49:16.sick, maybe took a blow to the belly. You're not allowed to go big
:49:17. > :49:23.with it. Legs up. Paul Green trying to force it. That's how tight this
:49:24. > :49:27.match is. Tension, palpable. The stakes, massive. One point would
:49:28. > :49:29.make a huge difference to the momentum of this one. Olympic final
:49:30. > :49:47.at stake. Zheng Shuyin coming close. A toe tap
:49:48. > :49:53.away from a three-point head shot. This one for a spot in the Olympic
:49:54. > :50:01.final. The heavyweight division, plus 67 kilograms. Zheng Shuyin
:50:02. > :50:05.against Bianca Walkden. The fighter from China, the fighter from Great
:50:06. > :50:08.Britain. They've fought before. It was as close as this all the way
:50:09. > :50:13.through. The Chinese fighter, Zheng Shuyin,
:50:14. > :50:21.found the answer. Will it be Walkden this time? Will it be Zheng Shuyin?
:50:22. > :50:31.This is a battle of defences. No-one wanting to overcommit. The front leg
:50:32. > :50:38.is closer to the opponent. It makes it easier to get in for quick attack
:50:39. > :50:46.and easier to get out and defend. Zheng with the slightly longer legs.
:50:47. > :50:54.Walkden tries to push forward on the push. Tries to get Zheng Shuyin out
:50:55. > :51:01.of the ring. If she gets off the green section or onto the ground, it
:51:02. > :51:20.could be a key component. She's getting closer there.
:51:21. > :51:26.Back legs have not been seen. Punches with not much force either.
:51:27. > :51:33.Both fighters thinking they scored there.
:51:34. > :51:38.Tense times have got even more complex now for Great Britain's
:51:39. > :51:40.Bianca Walkden. Tries for the first time with the back leg. Finds space
:51:41. > :51:49.again. She's going to need to try something
:51:50. > :51:51.different, Walkden. She's one point deficit. There's nothing separating
:51:52. > :52:15.them so far. The pressure is now needed from
:52:16. > :52:16.Walkden in red. Great defence from Zheng Shuyin, she spins back round
:52:17. > :52:40.into the centre of the ring. The Olympic Games heavyweight final
:52:41. > :52:44.at stake. One punch could make the different. -- difference. Ten
:52:45. > :52:47.seconds left. If it is drawn here, it goes to a
:52:48. > :52:54.golden point, the first point will be the winner. Do you commit or go
:52:55. > :53:01.with it? Neither prepared to make a mistake. The Olympic Games final,
:53:02. > :53:08.it's on the horizon. This one could not be any more tense if it tried.
:53:09. > :53:13.It is so close. Both fighters using the same strategy. Neither prepared
:53:14. > :53:20.to budge from that. This could go either way. Zheng Shuyin she's been
:53:21. > :53:21.under so much pressure. Nothing on the scoreboard, but nothing to
:53:22. > :53:46.separate them. Will it be a moment of magic.
:53:47. > :53:55.Taekwondo, the art of kicking and punching, who's going to master that
:53:56. > :54:00.art here? Key moments in the careers of both fighters - a heavyweight
:54:01. > :54:05.final at stake. Zheng Shuyin against Bianca Walkden, the first point will
:54:06. > :54:06.be the winner. Walkden in red, Zheng Shuyin, she's
:54:07. > :54:34.the fighter in blue. Zheng Shuyin prepared to go for it
:54:35. > :54:39.as well. Foot work from both fighters impeccable.
:54:40. > :55:02.Timing is everything. Walkden tries to chip forward.
:55:03. > :55:07.A minor advantage for Zheng Shuyin, the Chinese fighter in blue. Walked
:55:08. > :55:27.and comes back. Very aggressive. Timing is so keen now. A crucial
:55:28. > :55:32.kick from Shuyin. Sales over the shoulder of Walkden. She slips and
:55:33. > :55:43.slides, lives to fight another day. Who is going to the final? 50
:55:44. > :55:49.seconds to decide. A push kick. Will it be rewarded? If it doesn't go on
:55:50. > :55:53.the scores of the judges... It is, indeed, and it is Zheng Shuyin in
:55:54. > :55:58.the last three seconds. She finds the head shot to win. The aggression
:55:59. > :56:03.of Walkden left a tiny space fitting the long legs of Zheng Shuyin.
:56:04. > :56:10.Fantastic timing from her. Bianca Walkden will be disconsolate. She is
:56:11. > :56:16.into the rapid charge into the heavyweight final. -- into the
:56:17. > :56:20.repechage. Congratulations to Zheng Shuyin. A fantastic performance and
:56:21. > :56:32.what I had kick to seal a space in the final. -- a head kick.
:56:33. > :56:38.STUDIO: China celebrate and will go into the gold medal final.
:56:39. > :56:43.Desperately disappointing for Bianca Walkden, she defended so well. She
:56:44. > :56:47.will have a chance to fight for bronze medal, but it can't be gold
:56:48. > :56:53.for the World Champion who has struggled so much with injuries. As
:56:54. > :56:56.you can see, she's incredibly upset. Paul Green will do his best to help
:56:57. > :57:07.her recover mentally so that she can come back stronger and try to win a
:57:08. > :57:12.bronze medal. That fight will be at 1am British time. It seems so wrong
:57:13. > :57:17.but you are watching the screen going, "Kick her, kick her!" But on
:57:18. > :57:22.golden point with that head shot, and you can see it very clearly to
:57:23. > :57:27.the back of the head, Bianca Walkden's Olympic hopes of becoming
:57:28. > :57:32.champion were over. But there is still a chance for Britain to win
:57:33. > :57:34.another gold medal in taekwondo because Mahama Cho is up next. In
:57:35. > :58:11.his words, it will be Cho Time. Well, let's had backed down matter
:58:12. > :58:18.side to Nick Hope to hear more about the man who says it is Cho Time. He
:58:19. > :58:22.is quite a character and he has a fascinating back story. He came to
:58:23. > :58:28.the UK when he was for five years old. He was born the Ivory Coast. He
:58:29. > :58:31.fled Africa where he was being bullied, but he didn't have it easy
:58:32. > :58:36.when he came over to the UK. He started taekwondo effectively to try
:58:37. > :58:42.and look after himself because of that bullying. He has proven he is
:58:43. > :58:45.very, very talented at it. He has a great Champ having already knocked
:58:46. > :58:52.out a couple of champions. We are going to bring in Bianca who has
:58:53. > :58:56.just come out of the semifinal bout. You put in an absolutely fantastic
:58:57. > :59:00.fight but it wasn't quite to be. There is still the chance bronze.
:59:01. > :59:07.Obviously I didn't come here for bronze. I was unlucky that I
:59:08. > :59:11.couldn't score. It cost me be gold. I've got a chance for bronze. I
:59:12. > :59:18.don't really wanted but fingers crossed I go out there and do well.
:59:19. > :59:21.For those that know your background, obviously it's been really tough
:59:22. > :59:25.over the last couple of years. Just to get here is an achievement and to
:59:26. > :59:29.still have that medal prospect is huge. You live the Jade Jones want
:59:30. > :59:35.to be following her success. Gold is what we all came here for. Bronze is
:59:36. > :59:39.a good medal, but it's not what I came for. I will go out there and
:59:40. > :59:48.try for bronze but I wish I could have more. Very Best of luck.
:59:49. > :59:57.COMMENTATOR: no lack of confidence from Mahama Cho. He has come in
:59:58. > :00:02.demonstrating his intent in this first round. A few push kicks just
:00:03. > :00:08.to get his distance. The height disadvantage needs to stay out of
:00:09. > :00:12.range as well. Just about finding the range with that back leg kick.
:00:13. > :00:21.The only danger is that it is slightly predictable. Radik Isaev
:00:22. > :00:31.does have strong front leg. There is the pack kick from Mahama Cho. Based
:00:32. > :00:39.now in Manchester with the Olympic elite team. Training in London
:00:40. > :00:44.regularly as a youngster. The chance to become a footballer, but his big
:00:45. > :00:51.goal here is to get a shot in under the guard of Isaev, the man from
:00:52. > :00:56.Azerbaijan, originally from Russia. The Russian is in no hurry at the
:00:57. > :01:01.moment. A very slow, languid style. Really killing the tempo. He seems a
:01:02. > :01:06.lot more content to sit back and allow Mahama Cho to take the lead.
:01:07. > :01:12.I'm sure we will see an attacking kick and shock kicks to the head. He
:01:13. > :01:16.has a height advantage. It's interesting what you say about
:01:17. > :01:20.taking a blow. He is two metres tall, he almost takes a lot of push
:01:21. > :01:28.kick. Very economic or with the use of that force. Yet to feel the force
:01:29. > :01:32.of Isaev. It has been a first-class performance from Cho in the opening
:01:33. > :01:38.round. Didn't have the best of form last year, had to work so hard to
:01:39. > :01:43.qualify. Did so at the last minute, and in the last second, hearing Rio
:01:44. > :01:57.at the Olympic Games, it is all square at 0-0.
:01:58. > :02:05.The former Iranian national team coach is now in the corner of the
:02:06. > :02:11.man from Azerbaijan. Miller in the corner of Mahama Cho. He is saying,
:02:12. > :02:16.but on the pressure, change the tempo. It is their important to put
:02:17. > :02:20.that pressure on because Isaev is happy to sit back and take what's
:02:21. > :02:24.coming to him and look for the opportunity. But we have seen Mahama
:02:25. > :02:28.Cho come in and attack and equally get back out again to avoid any
:02:29. > :02:33.counter. He needs to keep moving and that's the way he's going to
:02:34. > :02:43.hopefully find a way in. Likewise for Isaev. He favours patients. Will
:02:44. > :02:47.it be the courage of Cho or the patience of Isaev? A heavyweight
:02:48. > :02:52.final awaits for either of these men. It will take a stupendous
:02:53. > :02:59.effort to try to get past that front leg of Isaev. And he does! Mahama
:03:00. > :03:05.Cho blasts in a back leg front kick. Who can round the corner? Big power
:03:06. > :03:10.kicks, big power punches. Why did they not score? Answers on a
:03:11. > :03:14.postcard to the WTF, the world governing body. It is the body
:03:15. > :03:24.protectors at the moment, not being troubled by either fighter.
:03:25. > :03:33.A deathly silence at the moment. A back kick a game from Mahama Cho.
:03:34. > :03:38.Tries with the big power shot. Isaev is resolute in his defence. He
:03:39. > :03:41.hasn't shown any thing as an attacking threat so far. That's
:03:42. > :03:47.right, he's happy to take what's being dished out. I think if Isaev
:03:48. > :03:52.is going to get a score on the board he needs to come in. He's got the
:03:53. > :03:58.height advantage. Mahama Cho has a big height advantage. It proves to
:03:59. > :04:06.be a disadvantage. Left the chest open. If at first you don't succeed.
:04:07. > :04:09.Mahama Cho tries the head shot. It has been a good little riposte here
:04:10. > :04:17.from the fighter in blue. Isaev takes another kick. The art of
:04:18. > :04:24.kicking and punching, the martial artist must at the moment, Mahama
:04:25. > :04:28.Cho. He really is attacking these kicks. Just leaning back at the same
:04:29. > :04:35.time. That way he doesn't quite get the power in and out. Leaning back,
:04:36. > :04:45.you're right. Also leaning back to avoid the big headshot. We have seen
:04:46. > :04:50.nothing from the big man from Baku in red at the moment. It takes a lot
:04:51. > :04:56.of courage to turn your back on somebody two metres tall, 100 kilos
:04:57. > :05:01.plus. He has been resolute in his defence. He has got the reward at
:05:02. > :05:06.the end of the second round. Mahama Cho, by the merest of margins. At
:05:07. > :05:13.one point is so significant. He is finding it so hard, Isaev. While
:05:14. > :05:22.Isaev is not attacking, he is defending very well. Isaev is
:05:23. > :05:28.patient. He is only one points down. Isaev is the World Champion for a
:05:29. > :05:32.reason. The coaches saying he will try to come into the middle
:05:33. > :05:36.distance. In taekwondo there is three distances. Fighting distance
:05:37. > :05:41.where both of you can. Long-distance armour which is safe for you. The
:05:42. > :05:47.middle distance, that is the danger zone. You can get caught napping. It
:05:48. > :05:48.was Isaev that was caught napping there as he takes that power punch
:05:49. > :06:03.and he felt it as well. The coach there, last-minute
:06:04. > :06:09.instructions. The third round here of the semifinal. Great Britain's
:06:10. > :06:16.Mahama Cho in blue. Radik Isaev is the taller of the two. Nothing to
:06:17. > :06:20.separate them. One kyong-go hanging against the Azeri fighter. He will
:06:21. > :06:28.have to be aggressive. Mahama Cho will be put under pressure. There is
:06:29. > :06:31.the kyong-go that we mentioned. A little yellow card. When that turns
:06:32. > :06:37.red it will be a point to your opponent. This is the most attacking
:06:38. > :06:41.we have seen from Isaev. Realising now that he is down, he needs to
:06:42. > :06:46.bring it back into play and we will see a lot more headshot. More than
:06:47. > :06:52.likely in control of the centre of the ring. He has got a kyong-go in
:06:53. > :06:57.front of him. That is up putting his hand down. It is only your feet back
:06:58. > :07:00.and be on the mat. That is the pressure that Isaev can put on just
:07:01. > :07:08.by his very presence. Mahama Cho building his own. We mentioned tempo
:07:09. > :07:13.in the corner. This is the speed that Isaev likes to fight out.
:07:14. > :07:18.Couldn't be any slower if he tried. Slow and steady, but will it win the
:07:19. > :07:22.race? The head kick just goes over the shoulder. Did it catch Mahama
:07:23. > :07:28.Cho as he was on the ground, or one the way to the ground? Well, it was
:07:29. > :07:34.a clean shot to the head. But the video replay is going to be to
:07:35. > :07:42.challenge whether it was a pull and a kick. He kicked to be head when he
:07:43. > :07:46.was on the floor. Nelson Miller just about getting that one right. Got it
:07:47. > :07:55.wrong the first time, said that it was a poorly before the kick. -- it
:07:56. > :07:58.was a pull. Paying attention now, the coach, realising that the kick
:07:59. > :08:04.was potentially when Mahama Cho was on the mat. That is the debate.
:08:05. > :08:16.Let's wait for the result of this one. It will be pivotal. The card is
:08:17. > :08:22.returned. Just to clarify, the referee can also play his own card.
:08:23. > :08:26.If you play your cards right, points make prizes. This point could be
:08:27. > :08:31.important. Is Mahama Cho on the ground as he is kicked? He takes a
:08:32. > :08:43.swipe at him in a soccer style there. Mahama Cho did well not to
:08:44. > :08:48.take one there. The thumbs up, and the three points will be taken away.
:08:49. > :08:52.Mahama Cho getting it right, telling his coach what it was for. It is as
:08:53. > :09:05.we were, one point a piece. Both fighters have had a short break
:09:06. > :09:09.to recover. There is the attempt of the chop kick to the head for Mahama
:09:10. > :09:15.Cho. It is a long way to reach. And again. Both just giving off the
:09:16. > :09:20.shoulder. On the way takes a little push kick and falls. That is how
:09:21. > :09:29.quickly fortunes can change here. A power punch from Cho. The corner
:09:30. > :09:38.judges are unmoved. Isaev is a big man to move. 3-1. Cho changes
:09:39. > :09:42.stance. He needs to change something. Down by two, needs to
:09:43. > :09:49.find some big scoring points here in the last 20 seconds. Ties with a
:09:50. > :09:53.reverse turning kick. That is worth four. The same tactics and the same
:09:54. > :10:00.result. Nothing doing on the scoreboard. Isaev goes with a push
:10:01. > :10:07.kick to the body. Isaev again on the avoidance. Chop kicked well blocked
:10:08. > :10:12.by Isaev. The clock ticks down, it will be a kyong-go. This is the
:10:13. > :10:17.potential chance of a 1-point game. We are looking for the video replay
:10:18. > :10:23.card as well. It is all kicking off at the Carioca Arena 3. Isaev
:10:24. > :10:30.stepped out. I can hardly believe this. The Olympic Games semifinal.
:10:31. > :10:39.Four seconds left in the third round and the technology does not work!
:10:40. > :10:44.Unacceptable, not good enough. It's OK for your phone to lose battery,
:10:45. > :10:49.but not the body armour protector in an Olympic Games semifinal. The
:10:50. > :10:54.technology has to improve and improving fortunes for Isaev. He
:10:55. > :10:55.runs away and tears into the final. He deserves it, no question about
:10:56. > :11:10.it. Mahama Cho will be into the
:11:11. > :11:13.repechage, mutual respect, fantastic performance from both, both men
:11:14. > :11:24.covering themselves in a great dignity there. . STUDIO: It'll be a
:11:25. > :11:28.bronze medal at best for Bianca walked in and Mahama Cho. The
:11:29. > :11:31.combined shoot under way, Great Britain have a chance for a medal,
:11:32. > :11:34.Matthew Pinsent can bring us up to date. The Brit went into the second
:11:35. > :11:47.place. I'll hand you quickly to the
:11:48. > :11:55.commentators. Eleanor Oldroyd and Steph Cook. We've already seen
:11:56. > :11:59.Choong of Great Britain, who you can see running towards us, he was
:12:00. > :12:04.second into the shooting range behind the Russian. The pentathlete
:12:05. > :12:11.have to go into the shooting range for times and run four loose to wit
:12:12. > :12:16.loops. A total of 3200 metres of this touristy, attorney course,
:12:17. > :12:22.which goes around the centre of the arena, which was used for the riding
:12:23. > :12:29.event. That is our leader. Fourth in London 2012. Double world champion.
:12:30. > :12:35.Choong just behind him as they come into the loop, just in front of us.
:12:36. > :12:40.Stephanie Crook 2000 Olympic champion in Sydney, what does he
:12:41. > :12:46.need to do here? He set himself up into an excellent position here, to
:12:47. > :12:50.start in second place. He's a good combined athlete, a great shot, but
:12:51. > :12:53.it's a question of how good those athletes are around him as well,
:12:54. > :12:56.they're rather some excellent combined athletes are very close to
:12:57. > :13:08.him. He's holding second place at the moment behind the Russian,
:13:09. > :13:10.Aleksander Lesun. Fish meal Hernandez has moved into fourth
:13:11. > :13:22.place, he's about to come into the bronze medal position. You can see
:13:23. > :13:27.the pentathlete is run across there, heading out. In London they headed
:13:28. > :13:33.into the countryside. Hernandez has already overtaken the athlete who
:13:34. > :13:37.started in third place, El Geziry. We are looking out for Jamie cook,
:13:38. > :13:42.the other British athlete, who started in 16th position. This is
:13:43. > :13:49.coming up to the end of the first lap. We're watching now as they make
:13:50. > :13:55.their way around to the second shooting range. This is all about
:13:56. > :13:59.being able to control your nerves than breathing, keep the laser
:14:00. > :14:06.pistol steady, shoots down those five targets. Get those five green
:14:07. > :14:15.light in as tough a time as possible. -- quick a time. He's got
:14:16. > :14:19.two shots. Missed one. Zhongrong with one. He's got two now. The
:14:20. > :14:25.first to get five green lights will head out. And there goes Aleksander
:14:26. > :14:30.Lesun. Their heart rates are going up, becomes increasingly difficult
:14:31. > :14:35.to shoot on the range. Joe is struggling a little bit here. Where
:14:36. > :14:40.getting other athletes coming in behind him, he's got four, five now,
:14:41. > :14:44.but the gap has gone down to 25 seconds, just under. He's never
:14:45. > :14:47.really been in the position of being in this position in a competition
:14:48. > :14:56.under this sort of pressure on the range. This is what is going to
:14:57. > :15:08.tell. You can see in the distance the US and Mexico athletes. Patrick
:15:09. > :15:13.Dogue is another one to watch. Dogue is 21, from Great Britain, lives in
:15:14. > :15:18.London, he went to school in Croydon. He joined the modern
:15:19. > :15:25.pentathlon club that had been set up by another former British
:15:26. > :15:30.pentathlete, Kate Allenby, bronze medallist in Sydney. It would be the
:15:31. > :15:36.first time a British man had ever won an individual medal in the
:15:37. > :15:40.modern pentathlon. Gold in the 76 in the team event, bronze in 1988.
:15:41. > :15:43.Looking out some of the athletes further down the field at the
:15:44. > :15:49.moment, I can still see Aleksander Lesun. We caught sight of Ricardo
:15:50. > :15:55.DeLuca from Italy, he holds the current world record. He hasn't
:15:56. > :16:08.shown the form this year but he'll still be going well under 11
:16:09. > :16:12.minutes. Patrick Dogue from Germany. And El Geziry who started that has
:16:13. > :16:15.dropped down the field, caught up behind some of the athletes who
:16:16. > :16:20.started well down. If you get your shooting right you can run further
:16:21. > :16:38.up the field. That is dimmer Shembo, the number eight, making really good
:16:39. > :16:41.progress. -- that is Tymoschchenko. There is Joe Choong. He is running
:16:42. > :16:48.well still. Hernandez in third place. De Luca just behind. At the
:16:49. > :16:51.moment it looks like Aleksander Lesun is looking very untroubled,
:16:52. > :16:56.look how comfortable he looks as he comes into the shooting range for
:16:57. > :17:07.the third time now. Let's just wait and see where Joe Choong comes in.
:17:08. > :17:15.Stay with us, watching Lesun shooting on the range. He missed
:17:16. > :17:19.one. We'll switch coverage to BBC Two shortly. On the Red Button as
:17:20. > :17:26.well. We'll be continuing on BBC Two. There is Jo Choong. How quickly
:17:27. > :17:33.can he get in and out? We can already see the other athletes up
:17:34. > :17:37.now with Jo Choong. De Luca, Hernandez from Mexico. It's all to
:17:38. > :17:41.play for. Joe has got to keep his cool here. There were other
:17:42. > :17:46.pentathlete leaving the range ahead of him, this shoot is dropping him
:17:47. > :17:49.down the field at the moment. Is struggling to get that fourth away.
:17:50. > :17:53.It will have made a big difference to the order. You can see all the
:17:54. > :18:02.athletes coming out ahead of Jo Choong. That is De Luca we can see.
:18:03. > :18:10.Hernandez of Mexico. Dogue of Germany. Then De Luca. And
:18:11. > :18:15.expositor. His sister Chloe won the gold medal in the women's event
:18:16. > :18:18.yesterday. He started 45 seconds behind the leader. I spoke to
:18:19. > :18:22.Samantha Murray at the start, I said is there any chance he could come
:18:23. > :18:25.through? It bite be too much for him to make the podium, but he's
:18:26. > :18:32.certainly a great shot, like his sister. At the moment, Jo Choong has
:18:33. > :18:38.dropped down the field. We're not sure how far back he is. We can see
:18:39. > :18:43.Aleksander Lesun. He's making his way out into the middle of the
:18:44. > :18:52.field. That is Tymoschchenko in second place. Tymoschchenko of the
:18:53. > :18:56.Ukraine has taken second place. The trip to the shooting range has
:18:57. > :19:01.really cost to Jo Choong dear. There is the battle for bronze going on.
:19:02. > :19:09.Hernandez from Mexico, De Luca from Italy, Dogue from Germany. You just
:19:10. > :19:15.saw number 13 of the Czech Republic, the Olympic champion in London 2012.
:19:16. > :19:19.Lesun looking really comfortable at the moment, he really is set for the
:19:20. > :19:23.gold medal here. Something would have to go drastically wrong on his
:19:24. > :19:31.shoot for him not to be top of the podium now. The silver and bronze
:19:32. > :19:40.medals are still all to play for. Pentathlete starting to feel the
:19:41. > :19:44.strain of it. Jo Choong you can see in the distance. At the moment he is
:19:45. > :19:50.well out of the medals. But we've got one more trip to the shooting
:19:51. > :19:54.range to come. Here we go with Aleksander Lesun making his way in.
:19:55. > :20:03.In first place, looking comfortable. He almost strolls in now. He lines
:20:04. > :20:08.up the laser pistol. He's going to aim to make those red lights go
:20:09. > :20:12.green. Two at the moment. It's like the biathlon in the Winter Olympics
:20:13. > :20:17.if you watch that. When you've already done a long run and then to
:20:18. > :20:20.go and shoot... But that looks like the gold medal right there for
:20:21. > :20:26.Aleksander Lesun, what a great shoot for him. We are just watching the
:20:27. > :20:32.other athletes competing for silver and bronze. Jo Choong makes his way
:20:33. > :20:40.onto the shooting range now. Jamie cook making his way on there.
:20:41. > :20:45.Welcome to view was on BBC Two, we're here live with the final
:20:46. > :20:50.section of the modern pentathlon. If you're watching on BBC One, turnover
:20:51. > :20:53.now. Jo Choong fighting for a medal but his shooting letting him down.
:20:54. > :20:54.The combined run, should, the
