:01:44. > :01:48.Hello and welcome to the Olympic Park. It has been raining in reeal

:01:49. > :01:54.morning. It is rather gloomy but I have to say spirits haven't been

:01:55. > :01:58.dampened, especially after yesterday's wonderful action. Great

:01:59. > :02:03.Britain doing so well. After the triple triple came the double

:02:04. > :02:07.double, Mo magic one of the highlights we enjoyed yesterday,

:02:08. > :02:11.along with the likes of Nicola Adams and Liam Heath all winning gold

:02:12. > :02:16.medals for Great Britain. As a result, Great Britain are riding

:02:17. > :02:21.high in the medals table. USA out in front but Great Britain currently in

:02:22. > :02:24.second spot, 27 gold medals so far and the likelihood is, if

:02:25. > :02:29.expectations go the way we want and the way we wish, we will hold onto

:02:30. > :02:35.that second spot ahead of China today. Well, let's take a look at

:02:36. > :02:41.what's coming up in today's show on BBC Four.

:02:42. > :02:48.We look at what happened in yesterday's final in the football.

:02:49. > :02:53.Brazil seeking a first-ever gold medal in the sport. They took on

:02:54. > :02:57.Germany at the Maracana. We will have action from the Americas Ennio

:02:58. > :03:03.where the USA face Russia in the bronze medal match of the men's

:03:04. > :03:07.volleyball. There is also a bronze medal up for grabs at the Future

:03:08. > :03:17.Arena as Poland and Germany lock horns in the men's handball. It is a

:03:18. > :03:21.similar story in men's basketball as Australia and London

:03:22. > :03:27.silver-medallists Spain meet to decide the bronze. It's the last

:03:28. > :03:31.cycling discipline of the games. The men's cross-country mountain bike

:03:32. > :03:38.champion will be determined later on BBC Four. Here's a look at the

:03:39. > :03:42.timetable for later today. The footballers coming up next, the

:03:43. > :03:46.men's gold medal match between Brazil and Germany from last night.

:03:47. > :03:53.Then volleyball action at 1:30pm. The bronze medal match. 2:30pm we

:03:54. > :03:57.head over for Poland versus johnny battling for the bronze in handball

:03:58. > :04:04.and basketball at 3:30pm, Australia versus Spain before the mountain

:04:05. > :04:08.biking takes centre stage at 4:30pm. Don't forget, the men's marathon is

:04:09. > :04:18.live on BBC One. The race starts at 1:30pm. The Hawkins Brothers compete

:04:19. > :04:22.for Great Britain. Arguably Britain's last chance of a gold

:04:23. > :04:39.medal comes in the boxing as the super heavyweight final. Audiences

:04:40. > :04:45.have been dazzled. Our man has been a crowd favourite. He's turning pro

:04:46. > :04:49.at the end of the games, following in the footsteps of Anthony Joshua,

:04:50. > :04:53.Lennox Lewis Xsan Audley Harrison. He celebrates his victories with the

:04:54. > :05:02.Brazilian martial art known as Capoeira. Joe Joyce's fight takes

:05:03. > :05:10.place at 7:15pm tonight, so tune in to see how he gets on. 56 years ago,

:05:11. > :05:15.a young man arrived in the Olympics in Rome, and he proved to be no

:05:16. > :05:20.ordinary Joe in the sport of boxing. In fact, he was to prove the

:05:21. > :05:22.greatest. An 18-year-old light heavyweight at

:05:23. > :05:41.the 1960 Olympics in Rome. I'm standing so proud! I'm in front

:05:42. > :05:47.of the world for America. Afraid of flying, with the same name as his

:05:48. > :05:56.father, who was named after Kentucky plantation owner. Cassius Clay. He

:05:57. > :06:01.came home ready to turn pro, ready to change what he now called his

:06:02. > :06:06.slave name and as Muhammad Ali ready to change the world or at least go

:06:07. > :06:12.toe to toe with white America. I'm the champion, the real champion,

:06:13. > :06:20.there will never be one like me! The Nation of Islam radical Islam,

:06:21. > :06:25.feared then as now. His simple boasts, then as now, inspired

:06:26. > :06:29.through defiance. I am the greatest! Because he boxed like no other, a

:06:30. > :06:36.feather light heavyweight, the world he fought against loved him, too. He

:06:37. > :06:43.refused to go to war in Vietnam's but when he did fight, he was

:06:44. > :06:48.bravery itself, a beautiful man in a disfiguring sport, exposed to

:06:49. > :06:53.extreme danger, adored every step, every shuffle of the way. The

:06:54. > :06:58.greatest heavyweight on two feet today. Full of fight. The teenager

:06:59. > :07:05.of 1960 turned all too fast into the Muhammad Ali that fought on oh, so

:07:06. > :07:08.many bouts too far. When his feet danced and when his head sawed

:07:09. > :07:16.through the fog of the fight game with clarity, he soared. There is a

:07:17. > :07:20.postscript. When the teenager returned from Rome, he tried to dine

:07:21. > :07:27.out in a segregated restaurant in a Whites only. He was turned away. We

:07:28. > :07:38.don't serve Negroes. I said, I don't eat them either. The gold medal? It

:07:39. > :07:43.was lost, and he cared not. At least not for 36 years until the day the

:07:44. > :07:49.revered radical, the faltering champ was given a new one and inspired the

:07:50. > :07:55.world all over again. This is my last fight! I don't want none of you

:07:56. > :07:59.to miss it! Muhammad Ali might be gone but his

:08:00. > :08:04.legacy and his spirit most certainly live on. The rain is falling harder

:08:05. > :08:08.here at Olympic Park as we turn our attention to football and Brazil may

:08:09. > :08:13.have won the World Cup on five occasions but coming into the Rio

:08:14. > :08:17.Olympics, there was one thing the soccer men wanted more than anything

:08:18. > :08:21.else. A first Olympic gold medal. They took on Germany last night at

:08:22. > :08:27.the Maracana. Germany making their return to Olympic football for the

:08:28. > :08:31.first time since 1988. It is fair to say this was the one gold medal all

:08:32. > :08:35.of Brazil wanted more than anything else. Let's see what happened. Your

:08:36. > :08:48.commentators are Alistair Mann and Kevin Caban. -- Kevin Kilbane.

:08:49. > :08:56.This is seen as an obligation. For Germany, it is another global

:08:57. > :09:00.footballing title that they are poised to claim on Brazilian soil.

:09:01. > :09:06.It is perfectly positioned, this final. You couldn't have written it

:09:07. > :09:10.any better. Which one of these countries will have their fairy tale

:09:11. > :09:19.come true? Will it be Brazil or Germany? We pause now for the

:09:20. > :09:30.national anthems of Germany and Brazil, your finalists.

:09:31. > :10:23.They've scored 21 goals in five games. They feel the same 11 which

:10:24. > :10:41.means over two of their three overage players are included, the

:10:42. > :10:48.Bender brothers. Gnabry and Petersen are their top scorers.

:10:49. > :10:57.Only one of either squad were even available for the semifinal of the

:10:58. > :11:03.Fifa World Cup two years ago. Ginter, who didn't get on the field.

:11:04. > :11:09.Neymar was injured for that match. A revenge mission isn't on the agenda

:11:10. > :11:14.for those out there this evening. Alongside me, Kevin Kilbane. If

:11:15. > :11:18.there is one side you feel can master the occasion, who can spoil

:11:19. > :11:22.the party, who can once again do what the senior side have done, it

:11:23. > :11:28.is the German side. It certainly is and you look throughout the side,

:11:29. > :11:32.and they have got out here so much experience, so much Bundesliga first

:11:33. > :11:37.class experience. So they are used to these big occasions, some of the

:11:38. > :11:41.top sides in the Bundesliga as well. That is what is playing into their

:11:42. > :11:46.hands. With this front four they have within the Brazilian ranks, the

:11:47. > :11:51.real talented squad of players, that front four, they can cause Germany a

:11:52. > :11:59.lot of problems this evening. The Brazilian coach was quick to point

:12:00. > :12:03.out in the pre-match press Conference that how can it be a

:12:04. > :12:10.revenge mission when nobody out there played a part two years ago?

:12:11. > :12:15.Neymar will feel this is an opportunity, though, to make up for

:12:16. > :12:20.his enormous disappointment at being injured for the semifinal. The way

:12:21. > :12:27.he has played shows how determined he certainly wants to be in getting

:12:28. > :12:29.Germany out of the system and earning his country their very first

:12:30. > :12:47.gold. Here's Gnabry. A decent effort

:12:48. > :12:59.against the frame of the goal by Brandt. He almost silenced the

:13:00. > :13:02.Maracana. He is a wonderful talent, Julian Brandt, plays the Bayer

:13:03. > :13:06.Leverkusen, he has a senior cap as well. And he almost gave Germany the

:13:07. > :13:19.opener. Here's Neymar. He has won free kick. The referee

:13:20. > :13:27.waiting to see if Brazil had an advantage. Gripping his ankle. The

:13:28. > :13:35.ball was getting away from him. It is a clear foul from Ginter.

:13:36. > :13:43.It is on target! It is in the back of the net! Right on cue, the

:13:44. > :13:49.darling of Brazil provides the opening goal, and you can probably

:13:50. > :13:57.hear the roof on the Maracana is starting to reverberate. Brazil are

:13:58. > :14:04.ahead, 27th minute. What a goal! Truly outstanding from Neymar. Timo

:14:05. > :14:10.Horn can't get anywhere near it, it is the power, the precision. In off

:14:11. > :14:16.the crossbar, he couldn't strike it any better, Neymar. What a super

:14:17. > :14:19.goal to open up what has been a very, very entertaining half an hour

:14:20. > :14:28.in this Olympic gold medal match. What a goal that is from Neymar.

:14:29. > :14:34.Here they come with Max Meyer and Serge Gnabry. That is a free kick,

:14:35. > :14:38.and Zeca is penalised. That is the counterattack we've spoken about.

:14:39. > :14:45.Germany are so effective when Brazil do give the ball away in the middle

:14:46. > :14:50.third or the final third for Brazil. They are so effective at moving the

:14:51. > :14:54.ball quickly and setting up Gnabry. He has started the game very well.

:14:55. > :14:58.Every challenge from Zeca, who knew what he was doing because he was

:14:59. > :15:02.beaten for pace on the outside and it was an easy decision for the

:15:03. > :15:07.referee to dish out the yellow card. It is one thing is saying to a

:15:08. > :15:13.senior side to be cool, manage the game, do the right things. But these

:15:14. > :15:20.are players, 19, 20, 21 years of age. Never quite as easy to be cool

:15:21. > :15:26.under pressure. Can they defend this free kick? Oh, they almost don't! It

:15:27. > :15:32.clips the frame of the goal for the second time. I think it was Sule who

:15:33. > :15:38.got a touch. I'm not even sure if it came off Marquinhos in the end.

:15:39. > :15:44.Excellent movement from Selke across the post but got away with that,

:15:45. > :15:48.Brazil. It's so frenetic at the moment, all the little last-ditch,

:15:49. > :15:50.some tackles flying in. The intensity of the game is so

:15:51. > :16:01.apparent. Meyer wins it back. That is a foul

:16:02. > :16:11.on the edge of the area. I would like to see the referee giving

:16:12. > :16:16.another card out here. He's very high, there, Gabriel Jesus. Late,

:16:17. > :16:25.from behind, poor challenge from Jesus, there. This is a chance for

:16:26. > :16:37.Germany. In by brand and against the frame of the goal again. -- in by

:16:38. > :16:44.well, -- in by Brandt. Well, Sven Bender stooped and hit the crossbar.

:16:45. > :16:48.12 unanswered goals in five games prior to tonight, Brazil. Yet to

:16:49. > :16:54.concede in 43 and a half minutes tonight as well. They couldn't -- if

:16:55. > :17:10.they can keep another clean sheet, they win the Gold Medal. Yellow card

:17:11. > :17:11.for Gabriel Barbosa. Just for the way in which he held Sven Bender

:17:12. > :17:31.back. Germany have it, with Meyer. Sven

:17:32. > :17:35.Bender, now Brandt. In towards Meyer! And there is the equaliser

:17:36. > :17:42.that Germany have threatened for so very long! The captain of Germany

:17:43. > :17:46.cancels out the goal of the captain of Brazil, and if the warning signs

:17:47. > :17:52.weren't apparent before, they are most evident now. They have deserved

:17:53. > :18:05.the equaliser and they have silenced the Maracana. As soon as Sven Bender

:18:06. > :18:11.picks up the ball, you can see told Jan -- Toljan is on the move from

:18:12. > :18:18.right back. He has the awareness to pull it back in front of Brazil's

:18:19. > :18:28.defence and a really good finish from Max Meyer to have the awareness

:18:29. > :18:35.to place it beyond Weverton in goal. Look at that, bursting run through

:18:36. > :18:39.from Felipe Anderson! Break tackle in the nick of time, as Anderson was

:18:40. > :18:43.pulling back the trigger. Did he wait too long? He did. Brilliant

:18:44. > :18:50.recovery from Klostermann. That is where Germany get caught out a bit.

:18:51. > :18:59.Neymar goes for gold! A couple of feet beyond. Neymar drives it in,

:19:00. > :19:08.cleared easily by Peterson to a chorus of groans to thousands in the

:19:09. > :19:16.Maracana. The referee brings the 90 minutes to its conclusion. We are to

:19:17. > :19:19.have extra time. Brazil leading by -- leading at half-time through a

:19:20. > :19:23.Neymar free kick special. Germany merited an equaliser and it was no

:19:24. > :19:29.surprise when it came. The German captain Max Meyer providing it and

:19:30. > :19:30.it will be extra time or perhaps even penalties that settles the

:19:31. > :19:40.gold-medal match. Good interception by Douglas Costa.

:19:41. > :19:47.The pass is excellent and he is on side here. Neymar looking to join

:19:48. > :19:52.in, still with Luan! Two or three German defenders in the way and I

:19:53. > :20:00.think it was Toljan who made the block. Rafinha. Miss controlled by

:20:01. > :20:10.Douglas Santos. Germany come forward, with Peterson, Brandt! That

:20:11. > :20:15.would have been magnificent. A heartbreaker perhaps for Brazil, but

:20:16. > :20:20.a moment of genuine quality. Superb from Max Meyer initially. Once that

:20:21. > :20:24.diagonal ball comes in, he never really trusted himself on his left

:20:25. > :20:29.foot. He wanted to take the strike with his right. This is their chance

:20:30. > :20:34.for Luan. Excellent forward ball, positive pass. As soon as he comes

:20:35. > :20:37.in, could he have picked out Neymar, passed into Neymar who was in a

:20:38. > :20:44.better position? I think he should have. That is a lovely ball and here

:20:45. > :21:02.is Felipe Anderson! Terrific save by -- terrific save by Timo Horn. Look

:21:03. > :21:10.at that reverse pass, outstanding. Outstanding stop by Timo Horn. It is

:21:11. > :21:17.that movement from out to in. Is there time to fashion one final

:21:18. > :21:26.opening? No, there isn't. The Olympic Games is almost coming to

:21:27. > :21:29.its conclusion. And before it does, a penalty shoot out will decide

:21:30. > :21:39.whether the host nation are going to win a gold-medal in the Maracana

:21:40. > :21:44.Stadium. Germany and Brazil, the two sides who met in the semifinal of

:21:45. > :21:47.the fee for World Cup two years ago, when Germany broke Brazilian hearts

:21:48. > :21:54.and humiliated them, knocking them out of their own World Cup, the

:21:55. > :22:00.Brazil redemption, if it's going to come, is going to be via a penalty

:22:01. > :22:04.shoot out. Brazil 1-1 Germany. The drama is palpable but it's going to

:22:05. > :22:18.extend to a shoot out. Weverton, of Atletico. Never capped

:22:19. > :22:30.by the senior side. Called up as a late replacement. He wasn't

:22:31. > :22:35.expecting to be the goalkeeper. So, Matthias Ginter, who has a World Cup

:22:36. > :22:40.winning medal, part of the Germany squad that beat Brazil 7-1. He takes

:22:41. > :22:46.the first one and tucks it into the corner of the net. First blood

:22:47. > :22:51.Germany. Yeah, Weverton goes the right way but it's the power that

:22:52. > :23:02.beats him. He does get a slight hand to it. Ginter is delighted. It takes

:23:03. > :23:06.some composure and some nerve to tag a penalty away when you know that

:23:07. > :23:16.99% of the crowd don't want you to do that. One of the senior members

:23:17. > :23:20.of the side, Renato Augusto. Current Brazilian international with the

:23:21. > :23:26.senior side. 28 years old, one of the 3-over age players permitted. He

:23:27. > :23:40.has the responsibility of levelling up. Which he does. -- the three

:23:41. > :23:43.over-age players. So pleased for him because he has been the outstanding

:23:44. > :23:47.player for Brazil throughout the tournament. He certainly has. He has

:23:48. > :23:55.had an excellent match. He goes high with power, Timo Horn no chance.

:23:56. > :24:01.Excellent game, Renato Augusto. Fitting that he scored his penalty.

:24:02. > :24:19.And now there are boos for Arsenal plus Serge Gnabry. -- for Arsenal's

:24:20. > :24:26.Serge Gnabry. Can he give Germany the advantage once again. Weverton

:24:27. > :24:31.with all the antics that he is permitted. And it's underneath his

:24:32. > :24:37.body! Weverton got plenty on it. Several thousand thought he had

:24:38. > :24:42.saved it. It's a poor penalty from Serge Gnabry. Saying that coming he

:24:43. > :24:46.scored it, but he didn't strike it well, and Weverton knows full well

:24:47. > :24:56.he should have saved that. He gets both hands behind the ball and it

:24:57. > :25:05.creeps under him. Marquinhos, of Paris Saint-Germain. One of the most

:25:06. > :25:14.expensive defenders in the world. He steps up to try to bring Brazil

:25:15. > :25:21.level. And he does it with aplomb! 2-2 on penalties. Unbridled joy and

:25:22. > :25:29.relief among the Brazilian supporters. Superb, calm and

:25:30. > :25:33.composed, Marquinhos, there. He just waits for Timo Horn to dive to his

:25:34. > :25:41.right and then strokes it away in the other corner. Superb penalty.

:25:42. > :25:51.Julian Brandt, 20 years old, of Bayer Leverkusen. He looks composed.

:25:52. > :25:59.Goodness only knows what's going on under the surface. That's a

:26:00. > :26:05.brilliant penalty. Absolutely faultless. The temperament of these

:26:06. > :26:11.young players cannot be faulted. As you mentioned during the last

:26:12. > :26:16.penalty, Weverton's antics just delaying the penalty being taken,

:26:17. > :26:22.putting his towel behind the goal. But Brandt was composed and cool,

:26:23. > :26:33.waited for Weverton to dive. Unstoppable penalty. Rafa a

:26:34. > :26:39.Alcantara, Rafinha, Barcelona. He has senior caps but does he have the

:26:40. > :26:45.nerve? He does. Timo Horn goes one way and the penalty goes the other.

:26:46. > :26:52.79,000 less may be a few hundred German supporters punched the air in

:26:53. > :26:58.delight. Calm and composed. Another one that sends the Altidore the

:26:59. > :27:05.wrong way, Timo Horn diving to his right. Excellent penalty. The

:27:06. > :27:09.question is, I'm sure, when Neymar decides to take his penalty. You

:27:10. > :27:19.would imagine it could be the fifth, if necessary. Meanwhile, the man

:27:20. > :27:25.from Hoffenheim, Sule, 20 years old, he thumps it into the net as if it

:27:26. > :27:33.was a game against his family in the back garden. Raw aggression. Past

:27:34. > :27:40.Weverton almost before he can move. Superb penalty from the centre half,

:27:41. > :27:44.Sule. No chance for Weverton with that one. They're praying for one of

:27:45. > :27:53.the German players to miss and their prayers are falling on deaf ears.

:27:54. > :27:57.Now then, Luan, of Gremio... A little hesitation in the run-up, but

:27:58. > :28:02.it makes no difference. He pops it into the corner. He scored three

:28:03. > :28:07.goals in the tournament proper and he has now scored in the penalty

:28:08. > :28:17.shoot out and we are all square at 4-4. He has had a super tournament,

:28:18. > :28:24.Luan,. Send the goalkeeper the wrong way. Cool and composed. Tremendous.

:28:25. > :28:32.One way or the other, Neymar's penalty is going to be significant.

:28:33. > :28:41.Niels Peterson, Once Bayern Munich, now of Friday, his penalty is saved!

:28:42. > :28:45.It is all set for Neymar! The darling of Brazil. The player who

:28:46. > :28:50.went off in tears in the quarterfinal because he couldn't

:28:51. > :28:55.take part in the semifinal, Neymar, the stage is set. The captain.

:28:56. > :29:03.Surely it could be his moment. It looks like it's all set up for him,

:29:04. > :29:08.doesn't it? That was a better hit penalty than Gnabry's, which he

:29:09. > :29:12.scored earlier. You have to credit Weverton, strong hands for keeping

:29:13. > :29:16.it out. But now it's all set for the main man, Neymar will stop you

:29:17. > :29:23.couldn't write it. You could not write it! Neymar, can you provide

:29:24. > :29:27.the gold medal for your country? Redemption waits for the side who

:29:28. > :29:35.couldn't win their own World Cup two years ago... Neymar... Scores!

:29:36. > :29:42.CHEERING 200 million Brazilians scream with

:29:43. > :29:48.delight. The golden boy has provided the moment that his country craved.

:29:49. > :29:56.Knocked out by Germany in a game that no one will ever forget, but

:29:57. > :30:01.two years on, in their own Olympic Games, the one gold medal they

:30:02. > :30:05.wanted more than any other, and Neymar, the hero, the darling, the

:30:06. > :30:11.one chosen you almost felt, to get the winning goal, taps the penalty

:30:12. > :30:20.that matters into the corner of the net. Germany played their part.

:30:21. > :30:23.Petersen's Penalty crucial, and it is Neymar. You couldn't have written

:30:24. > :30:29.it because if you had, no one would have believed you.

:30:30. > :30:39.First time in the history that they have won the gold-medal. And Neymar,

:30:40. > :30:45.who else, the star, the darling, the most revered current Brazilian

:30:46. > :30:53.footballer scores the winning penalty to secure that gold. A

:30:54. > :31:04.wonderful and to a wonderful Olympic Games. Brazil have won gold.

:31:05. > :31:11.That was the one they wanted and a fairy tale for Neymar as well. The

:31:12. > :31:16.winning penalty as well as the free kick in normal play. Brazilians

:31:17. > :31:19.happy all around Rio last night, the streets were full of celebrations

:31:20. > :31:23.and rightly so. They were desperate to win this. All the World Cup

:31:24. > :31:27.successes they've had brilliant but they really wanted one at the

:31:28. > :31:31.Olympic Games and, finally, they got. The sixth gold medal for Brazil

:31:32. > :31:35.which means this is the best performance at an Olympics by Brazil

:31:36. > :31:43.surpassing the five gold medals they won in Athens 12 years ago. Just a

:31:44. > :31:45.brief reminder that the men's marathon is currently under way, and

:31:46. > :31:56.that is taking place now on BBC One. Brazilians say that football may be

:31:57. > :32:05.a religion, but volleyball is their number one sport. They've already

:32:06. > :32:11.had success in beach volleyball. Alison and Schmidt took victory at

:32:12. > :32:15.the Beach Volleyball Arena in front of a heaving stadium. It was a

:32:16. > :32:19.wonderful atmosphere and great celebrations as they won the gold.

:32:20. > :32:23.That was their first gold medal in beach volleyball since the Athens

:32:24. > :32:31.games back in 2004 as well. Great celebrations. And Brazil are in the

:32:32. > :32:35.final of the volleyball competition today against Italy, when they could

:32:36. > :32:40.win their seventh gold medal of what is turning out to be a fabulous

:32:41. > :32:44.games for them. Before that, we've got the bronze medal match taking

:32:45. > :32:49.place between the USA and Russia, and that'll be our first port of

:32:50. > :32:55.call at the volleyball stadium. So, we head over there now. We can get

:32:56. > :32:58.ready to join our commentators to take us through the men's bronze

:32:59. > :33:08.medal match, Clayton Lucas and Britt Hocker Var. It is the USA in red,

:33:09. > :33:12.Russia in blue receiving. This is the bronze medal match from Rio 2016

:33:13. > :33:16.here at the men's volleyball tournament. The best-of-5 sets to

:33:17. > :33:23.see who will be on the podium. And it's a perfect start for the USA.

:33:24. > :33:35.Sander and Holt combining beautifully. Sander creates a lot of

:33:36. > :33:41.fire for the US, not just within his play but also his demeanour.

:33:42. > :33:49.That is another good serve, Russia without an opportunity to go into

:33:50. > :33:54.the middle. That is lovely. That was a good mix from Sander, showing he

:33:55. > :33:59.is up for this already. That is so pretty, it is incredible to see an

:34:00. > :34:03.athlete coming as dynamic and powerful as that. And then have the

:34:04. > :34:06.presence of mind and the wherewithal to make such a clean shot. That was

:34:07. > :34:22.wonderful. That has come back off Anderson,

:34:23. > :34:24.lovely blocking from Russia. Taste of things to come from both sides

:34:25. > :34:33.with their blocking ability. So, first point on the board for

:34:34. > :34:51.Russia. Very nice swing from Maxwell Holt,

:34:52. > :34:55.and straight away, Christenson establishing the quick attack,

:34:56. > :35:00.establishing Holt. It is important to get your middle attack going. In

:35:01. > :35:05.such good work by Holt to make himself available, adjusts to the

:35:06. > :35:24.past that brought Christenson forward, and still get in the air.

:35:25. > :35:47.Good leave by the USA. Holt that time really wasn't covering. He was

:35:48. > :35:49.standing upright and it is difficult to keep the ball off the floor in

:35:50. > :36:16.that situation. We are all square. Good work. Russia using the middle

:36:17. > :36:23.in transition. USA is trying to establish a presence of Matthew

:36:24. > :36:28.Anderson. That was a big difference with their match in the semifinal

:36:29. > :36:37.with Italy. Matthew Anderson's offence was too little. And they

:36:38. > :36:44.used the pic not as often as they like. That was the difference versus

:36:45. > :36:53.Italy. So they're really trying to make that adjustment.

:36:54. > :37:07.That is the attack out of the back row. The first challenge, and the

:37:08. > :37:12.ball has been given as in. It is successful, so Russia have the

:37:13. > :37:17.point. It is that backcourt pipe. And it is such a key weapon in men's

:37:18. > :37:31.volleyball and even is so in women's volleyball. That ability to overload

:37:32. > :37:40.middle blockers and create gaps, that is a crucial weapon used by

:37:41. > :37:46.most teams. Finally, the first killer of the match for Matthew

:37:47. > :37:52.Anderson. So many lines of attack, the line of attack for what we

:37:53. > :37:57.assume is there at the front court, then the three-metre line, and then

:37:58. > :38:01.these men are so physical, and they are so aggressive that the service

:38:02. > :38:07.line has become a line of attack as well. So, whoever can utilise each

:38:08. > :38:18.line of attack most efficiently... For the moment, nothing to separate

:38:19. > :39:00.the teams. Holt serves. Understandably, both teams will have

:39:01. > :39:04.been pretty disappointed after losing their semifinal encounters.

:39:05. > :39:09.Part of the battle for both of the head coaches and for the coaching

:39:10. > :39:14.staff has been to really lift these teams and get them ready for this,

:39:15. > :39:22.knowing there is still an opportunity to get onto the podium.

:39:23. > :39:29.Such a huge mental battle, as well as the physical one. We will be

:39:30. > :39:38.witnessing that during the course of this match.

:39:39. > :39:48.A little slow to react from the USA from that tip or from Mikhaylov.

:39:49. > :39:56.That specifically is in team USA's game plan, is to slow down Mikhaylov

:39:57. > :40:04.and their middles. At the moment, Volvich already has three points. He

:40:05. > :40:08.is producing quite a bit for Russia. You get to see just how little time

:40:09. > :40:16.you have from that serve to make up your mind whether it is in or out or

:40:17. > :40:20.who is going to play it. Especially when Mikhaylov is going over the

:40:21. > :40:32.screen as well, reducing visibility for the passing unit.

:40:33. > :40:38.Grankin is saying he played it off the block but the referee said he

:40:39. > :41:02.played it over the wrong side of the net, over in USA territory.

:41:03. > :41:13.Big swing from Tetyukhin, the oldest player on court.

:41:14. > :42:12.They going to challenge that because they think it's in. One challenge

:42:13. > :42:18.already, which has been successful, and you get two challenges per set.

:42:19. > :42:22.You can challenge the ball in and out, you can challenge whether or

:42:23. > :42:26.not the ball was touched by a blocker, whether or not a player

:42:27. > :42:34.touched the net, whether the ball hit the antenna. It has clipped the

:42:35. > :42:36.line so a good challenge again, and you can also challenge foot faults.

:42:37. > :42:46.Centreline, three-metre line and service line. So, 11-8 up and a long

:42:47. > :42:55.stare to the referee by Tetyukhin. The USA have called a time-out.

:42:56. > :43:05.We are in good shape here. Were going to be loading up. OK, let's

:43:06. > :43:40.get our energy going. One, two, three. USA!

:43:41. > :43:55.Big swing from Anderson, but he hasn't found the court. He is now

:43:56. > :44:01.stranger to the Russian line-up, to the Russian team. He plays his club

:44:02. > :44:12.volleyball in Russia. He has clubmates with Igor Kobzar, Andrey

:44:13. > :44:19.Ashchev, Aleksey Verbov, and Mikhaylov. That team is loaded,

:44:20. > :44:25.absolutely stacked, and his team won the domestic league in 2014, 2016,

:44:26. > :44:30.and then the won the Champions League in 2015 and 2016. So he's no

:44:31. > :44:35.stranger to these players on the Russian side and they know team USA

:44:36. > :44:41.is trying to get him the ball as much as possible. He also knows he

:44:42. > :44:47.has to produce for the Americans, Matthew Anderson, for a chance at

:44:48. > :44:50.the bronze. Add into that the coach for the Russian team is the team

:44:51. > :44:55.coach so he knows exactly what Anderson can do because he brought

:44:56. > :45:00.him into the team. As you mentioned, Mikhaylov is the opposite player for

:45:01. > :45:05.Russia. Anderson is the opposite player for the USA, yet they are

:45:06. > :45:09.both starters for their team. Anderson is acting as a swing

:45:10. > :45:16.hooter, so was Mikhaylov, so both are able to play out of position.

:45:17. > :45:19.Every now and again, Anderson has come in and helped with the pass,

:45:20. > :45:25.but that has been few and far between. His role is to be in the

:45:26. > :45:31.opposite slot and tried to make digs, which he wasn't able to do.

:45:32. > :45:36.That being said, as much as Anderson knows his fence is needed for team

:45:37. > :45:43.USA, it's imperative he manages his frustration. Especially because they

:45:44. > :45:48.are such a good blocking team. USA are going to have to find production

:45:49. > :45:57.from the rest of their players. Maxwell Holt doing an incredible job

:45:58. > :46:02.against Italy. Sander has already produced three points here today.

:46:03. > :46:10.Something else to consider is the early match start. An early start

:46:11. > :46:19.time. It can make preparation a little bit different. So to take in

:46:20. > :46:23.video at 7am, you now have to do that for a bronze medal match, it

:46:24. > :46:31.can definitely influence your normal routine.

:46:32. > :46:39.It seems to be influencing USA at the moment. That is a great block

:46:40. > :46:46.and Russia have opened up a big lead in this first set.

:46:47. > :47:00.Let's pass the ball a little bit better. Get better and learn how

:47:01. > :47:06.these guys are serving the ball. A nice call from the coach, saying the

:47:07. > :47:10.first time we played them in the tournament, we haven't played them

:47:11. > :47:14.for a while, let's get to learning factly... Whilst we have seen them

:47:15. > :47:17.serve, this is the first time we are feeling it. Let's get comfortable

:47:18. > :47:23.with it and then start playing some good volleyball on the back of it.

:47:24. > :47:32.It sounds simple enough. These guys are serving absolute cannons. Take

:47:33. > :47:37.something off and just score points. Free ball back now for the USA,

:47:38. > :47:45.another chance now may be for Holt. His work frees up Aaron Russell on

:47:46. > :47:47.the back court. That is what they wanted to establish, especially with

:47:48. > :47:54.Maxwell Holt establishing in the middle. Now Russia has to be

:47:55. > :47:59.concerned with something else. Executed very well by Christensen,

:48:00. > :48:03.setting that Coldplay up. -- setting that whole play up. Easy

:48:04. > :48:37.leave that time for Russia full. Grankin to serve for Russia.

:48:38. > :48:49.Brilliant pick-up from Grankin! And again. And again! Well, that will

:48:50. > :48:53.surely be the USA's point, because Kliuka was attacking over the other

:48:54. > :48:57.side of the net. An amazing display of defence from Russia, the likes of

:48:58. > :49:04.which I've not seen in a long time. That was good... That was great. It

:49:05. > :49:06.just seemed to get better and better, didn't it? Amazing defence

:49:07. > :49:32.from Russia. Another chance. Taken this time,

:49:33. > :49:36.through the middle, he is apologising but he was up early and

:49:37. > :49:44.USA were late. He's put that right into the chest of Erik Shoji. What

:49:45. > :49:50.was fascinating to me was how well Grankin handled that type spin of a

:49:51. > :50:03.pass. Sander unloaded on that serve. He was able to deliver search a good

:50:04. > :50:09.set to the outside. So, Anderson gets the side out and Russia find

:50:10. > :50:14.themselves for points ahead. A good position to be in, for Russia. USA

:50:15. > :50:37.having to chase, having to find a way back. And unforced errors from

:50:38. > :50:44.Tetyukhin. Russia going wide. Missing the cord in the process.

:50:45. > :50:59.Once again... An amazing play. That ball was up

:51:00. > :51:08.near the ceiling. Grankin making little adjustments. You give

:51:09. > :51:14.Mikhailov a one-on-one like that and he's not going to miss. He was the

:51:15. > :51:24.best attacker in London in 2012. He does not seem to be slowing.

:51:25. > :51:36.Not the best of sets from Christenson. Chance, though, for the

:51:37. > :51:46.US. It is Anderson now who works his magic, getting the block. I love

:51:47. > :51:53.their head-to-head matchup here between Matt Anderson and Maxim

:51:54. > :52:01.Mikhaylov. Clubmate, same position players and they just, it's going to

:52:02. > :52:05.be a boxing match. It's interesting as well that Mikhaylov, who would

:52:06. > :52:08.normally be blocking on the right side of the court, they changed it

:52:09. > :52:14.specifically so that he would actually be taking on Anderson. A

:52:15. > :52:25.couple of specific match-ups that the coach is trying to engineer for

:52:26. > :52:28.his team. Big hit this time. USA are creeping back in. There's still

:52:29. > :52:37.enough time in the set for them to do it. It is up to Russia not to let

:52:38. > :52:45.any more slide out opportunities go awry.

:52:46. > :53:00.Russell. Tetyukhin missed once. Tetyukhin has been here before, he

:53:01. > :53:08.has won silver, two bronze and one gold. -- one silver. He would

:53:09. > :53:13.certainly like to end his career with a fifth medal. He's trying to

:53:14. > :53:23.make sure his team end up winning the bronze here.

:53:24. > :53:42.Put up by Russell. Good dig from Tetyukhin. That is an amazing swing

:53:43. > :53:56.from Kliuka, classic floor hitting. Tetyukhin stood in their like...

:53:57. > :54:01.Choppy up the line. Now we get to see Lee making his appearance, the

:54:02. > :54:05.oldest player on the team for USA but the second oldest in the match,

:54:06. > :54:09.behind Tetyukhin. It's incredible to me how these guys can keep their

:54:10. > :54:16.fitness, keep their strength, stay healthy and play at this level.

:54:17. > :54:19.Consistently. It's almost unheard of for outside hitters as well,

:54:20. > :54:25.considering the roles that these two guys are playing, passing and

:54:26. > :54:29.hitting, and ball control. They're both playing here in a bronze medal

:54:30. > :54:36.match, both playing in two top leagues in the world of volleyball.

:54:37. > :54:42.One in Italy, and Tetyukhin in Russia. Good play from Russia and

:54:43. > :54:52.they are beginning to squeeze this set. I got to visit with Reid

:54:53. > :55:01.earlier in the tournament and just after his knee surgeries... What a

:55:02. > :55:05.great play by Reid Priddy. He's taken his fitness to another level.

:55:06. > :55:11.He's got it dial in, and with age comes wisdom. One thing, when it

:55:12. > :55:16.comes to your innate volleyball IQ, and then as you live out your

:55:17. > :55:24.career, to be able to dial it in and fine tune it and get it to a point

:55:25. > :55:25.where you can compete at this level. It's something very, very

:55:26. > :55:35.fascinating. Let's talk about how the flow of the

:55:36. > :55:38.game is going a bit, take some chances and scored some points. One,

:55:39. > :55:49.two, three, USA! Well, despite the best efforts of

:55:50. > :56:07.the USA, its Russia who lead by three. Mikhaylov to the bench,

:56:08. > :56:15.replaced by back in -- Bakun. That one just missing the white tape by

:56:16. > :56:28.millimetre is. -- millimetres. Tetyukhin just a conductor out

:56:29. > :56:33.there. Valuable instruction. It is what you want, that experience, and

:56:34. > :56:41.he is a calming influence. What a set that is from Christenson! Lovely

:56:42. > :56:44.swing from Sander. Some extreme plays from the USA, which they had

:56:45. > :56:53.to do in order to get their side out. Lovely movement from Sander as

:56:54. > :56:56.well. He gave himself the space to come in quickly and transition.

:56:57. > :57:00.Sander is just lightning in a bottle, he explodes and now both he

:57:01. > :57:10.and Anderson have four points apiece, starting to get the USA's

:57:11. > :57:18.offence spread and rolling. That angle is disgusting! You talk about

:57:19. > :57:21.four from four, he has hit that from four inside the three-metre line.

:57:22. > :57:32.That was an insane angle from Kliuka. Russia now two points away

:57:33. > :57:39.from the first set. A big swing from Anderson. You saw Kliuka hit an

:57:40. > :57:42.angle speed and fast and you've seen Anderson hit the far angle, the

:57:43. > :57:54.longest point from one side of the court to the other. With sheer

:57:55. > :58:07.weight and physicality. It is still the USA who have to find something

:58:08. > :58:10.from serve. That has gone block out. He thinks it's gone off the hands

:58:11. > :58:16.and away from the sideline. The referee gave it Russia's way but the

:58:17. > :58:18.United States challenging that decision. He went coast to coast. He

:58:19. > :58:31.was able to close that up. Well, at the moment, if they are

:58:32. > :58:37.unsuccessful it is 24-21. If they are successful, which they're not,

:58:38. > :58:45.it is academic. It's a 3-point lead, Russia with one set point, one set

:58:46. > :58:54.required to take this opening set. -- one point required. Kliuka with

:58:55. > :58:59.the serve. A good ball in from Shoji and then Sander being given licence

:59:00. > :59:07.to swing away in the middle from that backcourt. Nobody home for the

:59:08. > :59:11.Russian block. That means they are super concerned about Matt Anderson,

:59:12. > :59:16.which is exactly what they needed, they needed production from him in

:59:17. > :00:06.order to get that bit going in the back row attack.

:00:07. > :00:28.Oh, great serve! Kliuka didn't like that. Holt, his clubmates are Sergey

:00:29. > :00:32.Grankin, the setter for Russia, and Artem Ermakov. They know what he can

:00:33. > :00:40.do and he's been serving against these guys all season long. So, a

:00:41. > :00:44.change, Kliuka wanted to deal with that, and they have done... Although

:00:45. > :00:48.they haven't done! It looked initially as if it was an error and

:00:49. > :00:55.it had gone wide but it has been given in, so, Russia it is who take

:00:56. > :01:31.the first set 25-23. The lead 1-0 sets.

:01:32. > :01:41.RISHI: So, Russia taking the first set in the bronze medal match. Now

:01:42. > :01:45.on BBC One, they are into the first 40 minutes of the men's marathon.

:01:46. > :01:54.The two-time marathon winner desperate to win that gold-medal,

:01:55. > :01:57.Kipchoge. It is the gold in the marathon firmly in his sights. He's

:01:58. > :02:04.the man that is the one to beat. That is going on now. Back we go to

:02:05. > :02:11.the volleyball. Russia leading after the first set, 1-0. So now it is

:02:12. > :03:21.back to the action. Not the best of starts, than for the

:03:22. > :03:33.United States of America, having lost the opening set. Aaron Russell

:03:34. > :03:41.was substituted, and Priddy retains his place. If you're not performing,

:03:42. > :03:48.you're going to be on the bench, and someone will replace you, so William

:03:49. > :03:53.Priddy proving he wasn't just here to say I am at the Olympics. He's

:03:54. > :03:57.here to do the job and he has done it very well with a few points he

:03:58. > :04:00.has had in that last set. He now has the opportunity to turn things

:04:01. > :04:11.around for the team as the second set gets under way. One change for

:04:12. > :04:24.Russia. Bakun is on, Mikhaylov is on the bench. Away we go, Russia

:04:25. > :04:28.leading 1-0 sets. Well, Aleksey Verbov screaming at Volvich as if to

:04:29. > :04:38.say, I don't care theirs chairs there, I've got that ball off the

:04:39. > :04:45.floor, go and get it. Plenty more chairs available. A bit of a

:04:46. > :04:53.cumbersome pursuit of that ball. He is standing inside some serious

:04:54. > :04:57.firepower from the US. Early morning start time, some people take a cup

:04:58. > :05:03.of Joe. The Americans have had to run into the firepower of a Russian

:05:04. > :05:28.squad looking to win bronze. Well, you can see while Volvich is

:05:29. > :05:32.laughing. Just as well he has big hands, otherwise he'd have missed it

:05:33. > :05:36.completely. If you don't know where it's going, they don't know where

:05:37. > :05:47.it's going. Really tough to scout something like that.

:05:48. > :05:56.He has huge paws. Anderson showing how hard he can hit it. So important

:05:57. > :06:01.as well when you hit the ball that you hit through it. You finish it.

:06:02. > :06:05.You see they make the contact high, they come through the arms, always

:06:06. > :06:06.coming right through to the body once they've made contact with the

:06:07. > :06:15.ball. This time, Volvich having to turn

:06:16. > :06:29.and create an angle past Holt. Almost a bit of a swagger at the

:06:30. > :06:35.moment about the Russian team and the way they are playing. They are

:06:36. > :06:46.full of confidence. It is the USA who have the lead. Good battle of

:06:47. > :06:53.the middles at the moment. Volvich is running around Bambi on ice. That

:06:54. > :06:58.was off the foot. It would have been all right. That is what he was

:06:59. > :07:05.arguing. He was trying to get to the up breath to make him know that was

:07:06. > :07:11.OK. He was pointing to the shoe. Good eyes by you guys, come on. So,

:07:12. > :07:13.Volvich getting a yellow card for that. Trying to argue with the

:07:14. > :07:44.referee. Holt with the serve. Priddy creates all the space he

:07:45. > :07:58.needs, then he frustrates the big blocker.

:07:59. > :08:04.That's the way to get your confidence back when you have just

:08:05. > :08:06.been tools, you get an opportunity to score a point for your team and

:08:07. > :08:37.he has done that very well. A chance now for the US. Well, that

:08:38. > :08:39.was a case of waiting, soaking up the pressure, waiting, soaking up

:08:40. > :08:46.the pressure and when the ball was too tight and Tetyukhin had to tip

:08:47. > :08:52.it over, USAID take advantage. Great patience by team USA. They've

:08:53. > :08:59.developed a couple of blocks in each of those. Stayed patient, and waited

:09:00. > :09:10.for their opportunity to score. Shoji stayed in, and got the ball to

:09:11. > :09:18.Sander. Great patience by the US. Priddy pulling out of the block, he

:09:19. > :09:30.didn't want to give him away out. He's going to be red-faced because

:09:31. > :09:33.he has put the ball in only four Grankin to make a mess of it. Russia

:09:34. > :09:45.are let off the hook. It's important the Americans stay

:09:46. > :09:51.aggressive with their serving. That was the difference when they met

:09:52. > :09:55.Russia at World Cup, as they served extremely aggressive. So you allow

:09:56. > :10:02.some air to creep in until you find your rhythm. Miscommunication a

:10:03. > :10:07.little bit by Christenson and Anderson. Or our cameraman. That is

:10:08. > :10:29.a close-up he didn't want. Well, that was a big error from

:10:30. > :10:36.Volkov because the ball was over past. The next best thing is a ball

:10:37. > :10:38.over past over the net to be put away and you expect your big middles

:10:39. > :10:53.to do that. Just watching that serve from

:10:54. > :11:01.Priddy, he snatched at it. It was a violent move into the ball. He

:11:02. > :11:06.didn't have rhythm with his serve. Sometimes you might want to change

:11:07. > :11:17.that rhythm. You want to make sure you're in the same timing with the

:11:18. > :11:23.ball. It isn't just Holt who can hit the quicks. That was an excellent

:11:24. > :11:29.short ball by the setter, Lee. First point by him. He does such a good

:11:30. > :11:34.job blocking and directing the Americans on the front court but

:11:35. > :11:48.it's nice to see him get thrown into the fence and start producing.

:11:49. > :11:52.It is a good angle, a good view of how high these players are operating

:11:53. > :12:01.over the net. So, a few errors creeping in. Russia

:12:02. > :12:25.are creeping back into this set. They will be very happy with that.

:12:26. > :12:29.One-on-one, you expect the attacker to score but a couple of times the

:12:30. > :12:40.USA have been caught out by some great blocking from Russia. Volkov

:12:41. > :12:50.closed it up. As much as he was off-balance... All six of him close

:12:51. > :12:56.to that. Now they've got a little bit of

:12:57. > :13:04.problems out there. It is going to be middle type of rotation in the

:13:05. > :13:10.court. Let's go! One, two, three, USA!

:13:11. > :13:17.There are the USA team are watching their men's team to see if they can

:13:18. > :13:24.emulate their performance. Inspiring some bronze medal Mojo from the

:13:25. > :13:28.women's team. They do an incredible job supporting one another here at

:13:29. > :13:32.the games, giving each other sendoffs for their matches, a lot of

:13:33. > :13:43.support and a lot of love back and forth. Bakun is on a roll. Sander

:13:44. > :13:46.tried to miss first time, he's gone crosscourt and dropped his hands

:13:47. > :13:54.back into the line. Excellent blocking. And now it's another

:13:55. > :13:56.substitution. So Jaeschke has come in, both starting passes on the

:13:57. > :14:11.bench. That should have been maybe on the

:14:12. > :14:19.side of the USA but you have to play to the whistle. And it is a net

:14:20. > :14:23.touch by Russia. These officials are getting a lot of pressure by both of

:14:24. > :14:36.these teams. It's getting extremely physical. It's going to be important

:14:37. > :14:42.that the clean it up. Those of you that are watching, it isn't a good

:14:43. > :14:56.idea to talk to the referee. You played to the whistle.

:14:57. > :15:08.That is out of play. Nice blocking by the USA. And a great introduction

:15:09. > :15:15.for Jaeschke as well. One-on-one, brilliant. Jaeschke immediately

:15:16. > :15:22.making his presence felt. That's what the Americans need. That is the

:15:23. > :15:26.role you must serve if you come off the bench. You don't have time to

:15:27. > :15:32.work into it. The time is now and you've got to go. Team USA needs to

:15:33. > :15:43.take a set in order to keep the pressure on Russia.

:15:44. > :15:51.Setting to the middle from the three-metre line. Easy, isn't it?

:15:52. > :15:56.You think you've done it... That was a belter of a serve, the ball has

:15:57. > :16:00.gone up high into what we call target one into the middle and yet

:16:01. > :16:00.they are still able to run a quick attack. Incredible stuff from

:16:01. > :16:19.Russia. Just like that it turns around

:16:20. > :16:24.again. Russia have the advantage. They made it a triple block. Nowhere

:16:25. > :16:34.for Anderson to go. Anderson carries a heavyweight and it's because he is

:16:35. > :16:37.as good as he is. More trouble here potentially for the USA, but that is

:16:38. > :16:45.the best way to respond from Anderson! What an answer. The

:16:46. > :16:47.Americans needed a one-on-one and there are not a lot of feelings

:16:48. > :17:16.better than that. That's the first serve he's had in

:17:17. > :17:25.the match so far. Now on comes Volkov. One blogger is going to the

:17:26. > :17:32.back row and now another huge middle blocker going to the front row, for

:17:33. > :17:39.Russia. Just a continuation block. That's not going to come back, is

:17:40. > :17:51.it? Yes it is, somehow. Tetyukhin finds an angle. But it was always

:17:52. > :17:56.USA on the front foot. Really good run. You can see both players coming

:17:57. > :17:59.in and he just really committed to that ball, knowing he was going to

:18:00. > :18:13.get that ball into his hitting window.

:18:14. > :18:31.Evenly balanced second set. That's why you see the players holding the

:18:32. > :18:41.back of their hands at the net, if that ball is missed just a bit, it

:18:42. > :18:47.can be extremely dangerous. That can be concussion material. That just

:18:48. > :18:58.seemed to get a little jammed up on the back court.

:18:59. > :19:07.Very important that when you're running that play your not running

:19:08. > :19:13.right over the middle, so that you don't have to make any lateral

:19:14. > :19:20.movement. That is a nice swing. Just like Jessica coming in, proving they

:19:21. > :19:22.are already at game speed. -- Jantschke.

:19:23. > :19:31.For those of you who'd don't -- start the match and are on the

:19:32. > :19:34.benchmark of them than not, to come on and take your opportunities and

:19:35. > :19:37.show that you are ready to play is so important. At this level but

:19:38. > :19:49.Italy, when you get your opportunity you have to take it. -- at this

:19:50. > :19:55.level particularly. Russia is taking their back row attack and putting

:19:56. > :19:58.them on the move. We've got -- they've got three attackers in front

:19:59. > :20:02.and then they're not just going straight down the middle but they

:20:03. > :20:09.are giving them just a little more than an angle. That is creating some

:20:10. > :20:18.space, if not missed timing from the American block. Oh dear, a little

:20:19. > :20:25.bit of miscommunication. The USA very sure who was going to swing on

:20:26. > :20:34.that, and it was Jaeschke. That was better timing and set selection from

:20:35. > :20:36.Christenson. We saw David Lee go super-hard and have the middle

:20:37. > :20:45.blocker from Russia commit with him on the back and that just opened it

:20:46. > :20:50.up. Middle blockers are often the unsung heroes, doing all the unsung

:20:51. > :20:57.work as far as transitioning off the net and then getting back up in time

:20:58. > :21:08.and making the blockers commit with them in every play, yet they don't

:21:09. > :21:20.often get set. Russia have edged back in front in this set now.

:21:21. > :21:26.Another short behind. Doing a lot of short work for the USA, David Lee.

:21:27. > :21:28.It's so important when they get that ball that the centre has created

:21:29. > :21:44.some sort of advantage for them. A big swing but it hasn't caught the

:21:45. > :21:49.block, it certainly hasn't caught any part of the sideline. Looks like

:21:50. > :21:56.they're going to challenge for whether or not it has touched the

:21:57. > :22:07.block or not. Pretty good actually watching

:22:08. > :22:11.Jaeschke, he is above the net but watching what has been happening the

:22:12. > :22:16.whole time, trying to see that ball going. If you can do that as a

:22:17. > :22:20.blocker, it's going to be of a massive advantage to you, especially

:22:21. > :22:23.if it comes off your hands. If you go up and close your eyes, yes

:22:24. > :22:27.you're taking the space away but then if it touches your hands and

:22:28. > :22:37.it's gone right next to you, you have no idea. A number of times it

:22:38. > :22:41.hits them goes right next to them. Also if the ball has rolled short

:22:42. > :22:50.you know exactly where it's going. The challenge request has been

:22:51. > :23:08.rejected. Now it is all square once again.

:23:09. > :23:18.He has been watching for most of this tournament, Takun, coming in as

:23:19. > :23:20.a sub to Jude but now as a direct replacement for Mikhaylov, he's

:23:21. > :23:30.doing exceptionally well, taking the game to the USA. -- as a substitute.

:23:31. > :23:42.Bakun has been the difference for the Russians. Excuse me, Volvich.

:23:43. > :23:47.Also he has been lining up with him on a couple of occasions. Sander has

:23:48. > :23:54.come back in and Jaeschke has gone back to the bench. Sander has had

:23:55. > :24:01.some thinking time. Excellent blocking again, Russia slowing the

:24:02. > :24:11.ball down from Anderson. Putting it into transition and then coming back

:24:12. > :24:17.hard. The lead -- the libro back set that. He's not allowed to do that.

:24:18. > :24:22.Details like that are what sets a team of four success rather than

:24:23. > :24:26.just playing it safe. There's a fine line that you have to walk between

:24:27. > :24:49.taking the risk and playing it safe. High-risk, high reward.

:24:50. > :24:57.It seems that the Russian team have really done their homework against

:24:58. > :25:02.Anderson. Not only they know he is a big hard hitter but they are

:25:03. > :25:05.actually lining up their block. They're not necessarily going for

:25:06. > :25:14.the kill blocks, just slowing down enough to come back at the USA.

:25:15. > :25:17.Murphy Troy once again, very vocal as he does, supporting the team and

:25:18. > :25:21.waiting for his opportunity to get on court. He has had a fewer

:25:22. > :25:31.opportunities during this tournament and played well, when required to do

:25:32. > :25:45.so. Can they find a way back on the serve? Might come back!

:25:46. > :25:59.Unfortunately just too far-away from Erik Shoji. In the French match, the

:26:00. > :26:06.French libero did exactly that, jumped over the chairs and got the

:26:07. > :26:11.ball back in play. Matt Anderson created the one-on-one. Brilliant by

:26:12. > :26:17.Russia to extend the Americans's defence by doing some off speed,

:26:18. > :26:18.getting them out of their comfort zone by doing something a little bit

:26:19. > :26:32.different. Good commit lock. That is off the

:26:33. > :26:35.hands of another great -- off the hands, another great play and Russia

:26:36. > :26:41.are getting closer to taking this second set. Imperative to recognise

:26:42. > :26:45.when you have to score and when you're going to extend the play.

:26:46. > :26:47.Make the defence more comfortable and then have to transition to

:26:48. > :27:00.tougher ball. Seems to be a little bit of a lack

:27:01. > :27:04.of desire at the moment once things are out of system for the USA here,

:27:05. > :27:07.but on the other hand, Russia are going for everything. When they get

:27:08. > :27:16.the opportunity to do so. It's at times like this when you must look

:27:17. > :27:19.to players around you. You have to step up yourself and say, how can I

:27:20. > :27:25.make a difference? That is better from Sander, much better. There's so

:27:26. > :27:31.much that goes into a play that is more complex than a lot of the

:27:32. > :27:36.weight holds on the final contact and the attacker... It's difficult

:27:37. > :27:40.to look at Matt Anderson and say we need more production out of him,

:27:41. > :27:46.even though he is the lead scorer right now for the US. Knowing that

:27:47. > :27:52.things are loaded, there has to be so much development and that is what

:27:53. > :28:00.the Americans need right there, and attack from the service line. -- and

:28:01. > :28:07.attack. Perfect way to respond. They have gone crosscourt and then he

:28:08. > :28:12.comes back with the huge serve. Kliuka goes off and the substitute

:28:13. > :28:27.comes on to tighten up the blocking unit. Anderson with another big

:28:28. > :28:30.serve. Well, even streaking off to the outside to be a threat Russia

:28:31. > :28:37.knew it was only going one way but they couldn't stop Anderson. Shoji

:28:38. > :29:02.putting it high, within his hitting window. Great play by Team USA.

:29:03. > :29:22.Time-out was called by Russia. They don't want any more of that to

:29:23. > :29:29.happen. Sander going back. Russia with the set point chance. They've

:29:30. > :29:31.done it. Verbov just making sure, he was a little out of position chasing

:29:32. > :30:05.it down. Set point now for Russia. This is a free ball for Russia.

:30:06. > :30:09.Volkov puts it away through the middle and Russia take the second

:30:10. > :30:16.set, and the lead in this bronze medal match 2-0 sets.

:30:17. > :30:20.RISHI: Russia the gold-medallists in London look great for bronze. The

:30:21. > :30:23.USA came in as favourites for the gold, winning back in the thousand

:30:24. > :30:28.eight, but they are struggling at the moment and Russia need one more

:30:29. > :30:34.set to seal the medal spot. That'll be five medals in a row, or five

:30:35. > :30:39.successive Olympics where they have won medals in volleyball. There are

:30:40. > :30:43.some giants in that team of play. Volkov, he is nearly seven foot so

:30:44. > :30:47.if you add the length of his arm when he jumps, it is somewhere

:30:48. > :30:55.between 11-12 feet he can reach so quite impressive action. Only one

:30:56. > :31:03.man has won the 5,000 metres and 10,000 metres at two Olympic Games.

:31:04. > :31:07.He did that in 1972 and 1976. But last night our own Mo Farah

:31:08. > :31:19.attempted to do the same when he lined up for the 10K. Mo going for

:31:20. > :31:33.the double double. Mo Farah trying to do something that many people

:31:34. > :31:40.haven't have done. You could go through all the great names of the

:31:41. > :31:44.past. And he has an opportunity here to, hopefully, take this fourth gold

:31:45. > :31:54.medal and the double again would be his. That is pretty quick. That's

:31:55. > :31:59.got to be the quickest ever first kilometre in an Olympic 5,000. Is

:32:00. > :32:05.this a genuine attempt to take Mo on or an attempt to get rid of as many

:32:06. > :32:14.people as possible? These guys have watched Mo, seen him Donna --

:32:15. > :32:18.dominate, they've seen him win the gold medals. Now they've decided and

:32:19. > :32:22.I think this is clever and sensible on their behalf, they are saying we

:32:23. > :32:27.can't beat him in a slow race lets try to make it faster. So, Mo Farah

:32:28. > :32:31.now in the middle of the pack is being tested in endurance. They are

:32:32. > :32:35.talking, they're talking about who's going to go next, and whether

:32:36. > :32:42.they're going to go. Seven laps to go in the men's 5,000 metres. They

:32:43. > :32:47.want to stretch out to see the has any weaknesses. He is faster than

:32:48. > :32:53.the fastest but they're going to find out if he is stronger than the

:32:54. > :33:02.strongest. So, Great Britain with two men in the top seven. Ethiopia

:33:03. > :33:09.are leading but slowing. I suspect this one will be even slower, 63.9

:33:10. > :33:14.the last lap, this one is a little bit slower. Mo Farah has said, OK,

:33:15. > :33:19.that was your opening gambit, I've taken that one, thank you very much

:33:20. > :33:23.but it isn't good enough at this point, and I'm ready and waiting,

:33:24. > :33:28.I'm right here, right where I want to be, I'm letting you know I am

:33:29. > :33:32.here. You slow down, I moved to the front, you speed up, I'm going with

:33:33. > :33:37.you. He's already one of the all-time greats. Is he about to run

:33:38. > :33:42.himself into the list of the very, very best we've ever seen? For my

:33:43. > :33:47.money, he's already there but he is determined and he hates losing. He

:33:48. > :33:51.wants to win again. He has run thousands, thousands of miles in

:33:52. > :33:56.training. Now he is into his last mile. Four laps to go in this

:33:57. > :34:02.Olympic final. This could take him to further Olympic glory, one mile

:34:03. > :34:08.that could take him to his fourth Olympic gold medal. When Mo decides

:34:09. > :34:14.he wants to take hold of this race early... The big danger is right

:34:15. > :34:25.there. The Ethiopian happy to go back to the back of the group. Mo

:34:26. > :34:30.Farah is leading. Danger everywhere he looks but he knows all of these

:34:31. > :34:34.people have tried in the past two outkicked him and none of them have

:34:35. > :34:38.managed to get past him. None of these people are quicker than Mo

:34:39. > :34:45.Farah when he is at his best in the last 400 metres. Mo Farah is leading

:34:46. > :34:50.it. He comes down the back straight. Three medals in the bag, is it to be

:34:51. > :34:58.another one? Is it to be an historic fourth? He's checking behind, to the

:34:59. > :35:11.side, he looks up at the big screen, he sees them all there. There's

:35:12. > :35:16.almost a full. There goes Mo Farah at the bell. He's got company. He's

:35:17. > :35:20.trying to hold them off, he's sprinting and he's in the driving

:35:21. > :35:26.seat. Has he got the finish we've seen him produce over the years? Any

:35:27. > :35:35.add to the three gold medals he has? Farrah has the look again. He knows

:35:36. > :35:41.that he just has to hold the curb. He just has to hold the lead. They

:35:42. > :35:47.will attack again. Mo Farah has got more to give. He has speed in those

:35:48. > :35:52.legs to spare. They're trying to catch him. Chelimo looks the big

:35:53. > :35:57.danger for the USA. Mo Farah looks to the inside, he checks for the

:35:58. > :36:03.danger, Chelimo is trying but he's not going to get him! Mo Farah is

:36:04. > :36:09.gone! He's away! Mo Farah is going to get gold for Great Britain again.

:36:10. > :36:17.The double double, four Olympic titles, four Olympic gold medals!

:36:18. > :36:22.Incredible from Mo Farah! Mo, congratulations. A fourth gold

:36:23. > :36:27.medal, another piece of history. Oh, my God, I can't believe it. After

:36:28. > :36:31.the 10K, my legs are tired and I don't know how I recovered, ice-bob

:36:32. > :36:38.'s, staying in my room, people bringing the food in my room, but I

:36:39. > :36:42.can't believe I did it. I did it! It every athlete's dream, and I can't

:36:43. > :36:49.believe it, it hasn't sunk in. Is it the most satisfying one it?

:36:50. > :36:52.Definitely. I didn't do it a fluke in London and then again here. It's

:36:53. > :36:56.been incredible. I want to go home and see my beautiful kids and I just

:36:57. > :37:02.want to hang my medals around their neck. Hussain, I got him this medal.

:37:03. > :37:06.Rihanna has a medal. And the other two have got their medal. I have

:37:07. > :37:12.that drive and I think some people are born with it. I don't know, it's

:37:13. > :37:16.just me, I hate losing. If you dream of something and you have the

:37:17. > :37:21.ambition and you're willing to work hard, you can achieve your dreams.

:37:22. > :37:25.It's something I've been working on an grafting for years for years.

:37:26. > :37:29.Sometimes, there's disappointment, and you have to learn from it, and

:37:30. > :37:34.each race I learn from it, whether it is good or bad. That has got me

:37:35. > :37:39.there. I don't see my kids and for me I wasn't going to miss out and I

:37:40. > :37:43.was doing it for them. That is my drive. I know I'm never going to

:37:44. > :37:48.catch that time I've missed and if I can achieve something in my career,

:37:49. > :37:51.it's something for them which is what drives me. Ridge-mac a

:37:52. > :37:58.wonderful night at the athletics as Mo Farah in the 5K last night adding

:37:59. > :38:01.to the 10K completed the double double. Semi-wonderful performances

:38:02. > :38:06.it is difficult to pick a highlight of which one has been the best by

:38:07. > :38:11.the British athletes in Rio. If you're a fan of long-distance

:38:12. > :38:15.running, right now on BBC the men's marathon currently taking place.

:38:16. > :38:22.They are past the hour mark. Action beginning to hot up. The Hawkins

:38:23. > :38:28.brothers competing for Great Britain. Hopefully they will be

:38:29. > :38:34.involved in the latter stages. We are heading back to the Americas

:38:35. > :38:38.Ennio for the men's volleyball. Don't forget Italy against Brazil in

:38:39. > :38:42.the final later on. Russia are within touching distance of a bronze

:38:43. > :38:48.medal. They are currently taking on the USA. Russia have won the first

:38:49. > :38:51.two sets. It is best five. USA came into this tournament as favourites

:38:52. > :38:57.and they need to do something special to back into it.

:38:58. > :39:11.Away we go with the third set. USA serving, Russia leading 2-0 sets.

:39:12. > :39:21.As much as both of these teams come in with a specific game plan, and

:39:22. > :39:27.extensive video sessions, there is so much information on both of these

:39:28. > :39:36.teams that it is imperative that you're able to make the adjustments

:39:37. > :39:47.on the fly, that you can... And Verbov was on the fly. That was some

:39:48. > :39:52.set from Christenson. A lot of the USA Scouting report was to slow down

:39:53. > :39:59.Mikhaylov, and he hasn't been in the second set at all. So, now, they

:40:00. > :40:05.have to come up with a new answer and a new form of scoring because

:40:06. > :40:11.they're tough serving hasn't necessarily caused too much problems

:40:12. > :40:17.for Russia. They've been running and feeding Volvich. He has 12 points

:40:18. > :40:28.for Russia. That is... That is an increasing problem. In stark

:40:29. > :40:36.contrast with Holt, where he was up to 17 points, both he and David Lee

:40:37. > :40:40.are down into single figures, no impact at all. They are relying a

:40:41. > :40:46.lot on Matthew Anderson, which tells us the weight of the Russian serve

:40:47. > :40:52.is causing problems for the USA. As soon as Russia get a sniff of the

:40:53. > :41:02.middle, you can expect two or three blocks against you. That is wisdom.

:41:03. > :41:07.He knew he had a triple block, Tetyukhin, it was going to be very

:41:08. > :41:11.difficult to score for him, it was a broken play, the ball was coming

:41:12. > :41:14.back from over the top of his head and he played it back, he allowed

:41:15. > :41:19.the cover ball to happen and they stayed patient, waited for

:41:20. > :41:26.opportunity and then they were able to score. Priddy developing the same

:41:27. > :41:57.for the side of team USA. Trying to generate something from

:41:58. > :41:59.the service line, 110 kilometres an hour, that is great but sometimes

:42:00. > :42:06.you have to play within your percentages. All very well being

:42:07. > :42:11.able to hit hard, but if it is the net taking a pounding, that's no

:42:12. > :42:15.help to anybody. In stark contrast, Russia hitting the USA hard,

:42:16. > :42:23.reducing their options but when you have that man in your team, more

:42:24. > :42:31.than capable of scoring points. Job by David Lee, getting up, causing

:42:32. > :42:32.this timing, creating a small window of opportunity. Anderson took

:42:33. > :42:53.advantage of it. Aleksey Verbov is everywhere! That

:42:54. > :42:58.is all down to the Lib Aero. It was a nice bloke but the way to throw

:42:59. > :43:09.yourself in on what was a point for the USA, what a dig that is. Volkov

:43:10. > :43:16.knew it, too. He knew that Verbov gave Russia extra life. That is the

:43:17. > :43:21.value of having a libero, a defensive specialist. It has been

:43:22. > :43:26.around for the best part of 15 years, and it changes the dynamic of

:43:27. > :43:30.the game, allows us to see the rallies develop more than they did

:43:31. > :43:36.in the past, and we get some spectacular plays as a result. It is

:43:37. > :43:42.all level again. Sander trying to get some fire going on the USA side.

:43:43. > :43:50.He's definitely a spark, bringing good energy. It isn't quite

:43:51. > :43:56.happening for the USA in defence. They getting some touches but unlike

:43:57. > :43:59.Russia who are able to get the ball into transition, the USA are just

:44:00. > :44:23.chasing and not able to bring it back.

:44:24. > :44:28.Kliuka tried to get the spin on it and put it down the line but

:44:29. > :44:31.unfortunately for him he was unable to do either. We are still all

:44:32. > :44:44.square in this third set. Team USA is going to need to step up

:44:45. > :44:49.their performance at the serving line in order for them to get a

:44:50. > :44:56.chance, but they've been handling it very well.

:44:57. > :45:11.Shoji getting in on the act with an amazing dig. Volvich could not keep

:45:12. > :45:16.it off the floor. Volvich, six he knows that isn't a strong suit. He

:45:17. > :45:27.wants it above the net, not below. He went down in stages, didn't he?

:45:28. > :45:33.Strong rotation is now for the USA. Anderson into the front row, along

:45:34. > :45:48.with Holt and Sander. A good dig by Tetyukhin. The only

:45:49. > :45:55.place it could go was where it went, Sander onto it and another fabulous

:45:56. > :46:00.block, one on one. The team have done their homework. Grankin this

:46:01. > :46:04.time shutting out Sander. Team USA executing exactly what they wanted

:46:05. > :46:14.to. Christenson finally came up with an important serve, Russia plays it

:46:15. > :46:18.in and USA wants to get involved, Reid plays it but Russia keep it

:46:19. > :46:21.alive and they just keep the play going and creating an opportunity

:46:22. > :46:29.for them to eventually get the stop block. They want to still be a

:46:30. > :46:39.threat out of the back row. But Maxwell Holt can be the difference

:46:40. > :46:45.maker for Team USA. As long as they keep feeding him the ball, they

:46:46. > :47:01.can... Always pretty cool and calm, his

:47:02. > :47:04.demeanour never changes. There is no value having a coach screaming and

:47:05. > :47:08.shouting from the sidelines, you have enough to worry about, as a

:47:09. > :47:17.player. That, however, is a point for Russia. Too much pressure from

:47:18. > :47:28.the past to get the ball away. One to have a swing.

:47:29. > :47:39.Brilliant play by Team USA. Maxwell Holt doing a good job, working the

:47:40. > :47:46.middle, making them commit. David Lee comes to the front row now, as

:47:47. > :47:50.Maxwell Holt goes back to serve. Holt is a player very much capable

:47:51. > :47:59.of generating ace serves and putting Russia on the back foot. And there

:48:00. > :48:16.is an ace serve, just what the doctor ordered. USA go in front.

:48:17. > :48:20.Ball girls scrambling. Those are some large men coming at you quick

:48:21. > :48:44.fast. Good from Holt. And a good save as

:48:45. > :48:48.well from Christenson. But in the end it was all too much. USA trying

:48:49. > :48:50.to suck everything up but they couldn't get the ball in the place

:48:51. > :48:57.where they could do anything with it. Not really dangerous, as these

:48:58. > :49:02.guys are hitting the floor, you saw Christenson almost go down trying to

:49:03. > :49:06.get out of the way, let his blockers do the work, but Russia just seems

:49:07. > :49:29.to be too much right now. Verbov, the libero four Russia. Just

:49:30. > :49:35.handling it in the back court for Russia. David Lee. The captain

:49:36. > :49:41.trying to get something going. He's been limited to scraps at the

:49:42. > :49:46.moment. Something very interesting there, it you had Tetyukhin in the

:49:47. > :49:51.middle blocking David Lee, that is how little they have been concerned

:49:52. > :49:56.with the attack for Team USA. He has an outside blocker they put there.

:49:57. > :49:59.-- vapour that best blockers on the wings and Tetyukhin can go in the

:50:00. > :50:09.middle against David Lee. Great awareness by Christenson. They going

:50:10. > :50:14.to need to keep this role going. Anderson beginning to have a field

:50:15. > :50:16.day against Tetyukhin in position two. Trying to go after him from the

:50:17. > :50:41.serving line. Screams of setter, setter, making

:50:42. > :50:46.sure the second ball didn't come over, but it does come from the USA.

:50:47. > :50:51.Christenson reminded himself within that play that, right, I'm on attack

:50:52. > :51:00.as well. Really amazing to see a left-handed setter take a good swing

:51:01. > :51:01.at it. It just gives Russia something else to concern themselves

:51:02. > :51:06.with. Besides not to respond in kind. Top

:51:07. > :51:22.swing from Tetyukhin. Gets out, gets in a great position

:51:23. > :51:28.and no one actually stopping him crosscourt. David Lee drifted past

:51:29. > :51:36.the point of impact. Something middle blockers... You definitely

:51:37. > :51:41.want to seal off the block, they're going to be in motion, those balls

:51:42. > :51:48.are so fast. It's very rare that they get to a spot and go straight

:51:49. > :51:55.up and take a specific area, they are always in motion. It's a

:51:56. > :51:58.dangerous place at times to be a wing blocker when you've got a six

:51:59. > :52:06.foot 11 outside blocker coming towards you. Good up from Lee but

:52:07. > :52:10.it's just the Biddle at the moment that aren't quite happening for the

:52:11. > :52:14.US which seem to be happening for Russia. On Russia's side that

:52:15. > :52:17.probably would have stayed in play. It has been staying in play and the

:52:18. > :52:21.Bulls have been coming back over, not enough of that has been

:52:22. > :52:25.happening for the US. However, they do have the lead in what is this

:52:26. > :52:28.must win set for them. You've just got to stay with it, you never know

:52:29. > :52:33.when that is going to turn around and those balls that you are

:52:34. > :52:40.touching the come up and able to transition.

:52:41. > :52:44.He just thought there was something in front of him when there wasn't,

:52:45. > :52:53.Grankin. He could have had another step. Such an interesting awareness

:52:54. > :52:59.to have come a little bit of self-preservation, but also going

:53:00. > :53:03.for it. You rely a lock on the communication of your team-mates.

:53:04. > :53:15.Good leave. Important for Christenson that he

:53:16. > :53:20.forgets that serve. He's got three front attackers to organise, plus he

:53:21. > :53:27.has got Reid Priddy available on the back court. Excellent work finding

:53:28. > :53:54.Holt. Good serve from Sander. It will be a

:53:55. > :53:59.free ball back for the USA. It is Holt who get it! Just go back to him

:54:00. > :54:06.and go back to him again. Good ball control for Team USA. That one just

:54:07. > :54:27.too quick for Volvich to do anything about it. Time out by Russia.

:54:28. > :55:02.USA are doing everything right at the moment. They are putting

:55:03. > :55:17.pressure on Russia. There's a to extend it. Well taken by Reid

:55:18. > :55:21.Priddy. Just a switch of mindset sometimes between defence and

:55:22. > :55:28.offence is the difference maker. When you come out with a game plan

:55:29. > :55:31.and you know we've got stop X Y and Z, sometimes that puts you in the

:55:32. > :55:36.responsive rather than the active mode. It seems that USA have just

:55:37. > :55:47.shifted that mindset a bit and now they are on the attack.

:55:48. > :55:59.So, off goes Tetyukhin and on comes Volkov. Dimitry Volkov. He plays for

:56:00. > :56:15.a team in Turkey. The youngest player replaces the

:56:16. > :56:22.oldest. The past perhaps being replaced by the future, the present.

:56:23. > :56:30.A good opportunity as well for Dimitry Volkov to experience this.

:56:31. > :56:43.Undoubtedly will be involved in more Olympics to come. That is a huge

:56:44. > :56:48.sadistic, 14 service errors from the USA, three from Russia. When you put

:56:49. > :56:52.that into context of the ability of USA in the middle, it has been slim

:56:53. > :56:55.pickings for them because of the waiters serve and the consistency of

:56:56. > :56:59.that serve from Russia, that has been making the difference. But that

:57:00. > :57:05.is a really nice swing from Anderson. USA have got a grip on

:57:06. > :57:09.this set that they are very much an unwilling to let go of. -- they are

:57:10. > :57:25.unwilling. Ermakov comes in, replacing Kliuka.

:57:26. > :57:29.Orders to make sure the passing unit is effective. No trouble dealing

:57:30. > :57:34.with that one. Very nice set out wide. The speed of that ball

:57:35. > :57:41.splitting the USA's blockers one on one all of the way across the net.

:57:42. > :57:45.Fortunately it was a net touched. That forced American middle blocker

:57:46. > :57:54.David Lee to make a decision. And make it fast. Great set by

:57:55. > :57:59.Christenson. Really running these middles and that has been the

:58:00. > :58:05.difference in set number three. Well, the coach said in the earlier

:58:06. > :58:07.sets let's get a feel, let's get to learn this Russian serve, and it

:58:08. > :58:12.looks like they have now because they are starting to run their

:58:13. > :58:17.middle with regularity and Rossettini. Brilliant introduction

:58:18. > :58:42.for the youngster, Dimitry Volkov. I think he enjoyed that one! Now,

:58:43. > :58:53.can he improve it from the service line? His job is done.

:58:54. > :59:03.Sensing the danger here, Russia, has another middle attack prevails for

:59:04. > :59:12.the USA. Good help by Kliuka, but David Lee gets it off in time.

:59:13. > :59:25.Grankin decided to have a go but was denied. Good up but he is out of the

:59:26. > :59:31.play. Sander was ready and waiting. And he unloads and the USA keep this

:59:32. > :59:54.very healthy lead. More changes for Russia. Kobzar

:59:55. > :00:00.comes in. The back-up setter, he has replaced Grankin.

:00:01. > :00:09.A good chance for Russia right now to just feel out who is flowing, who

:00:10. > :00:15.is producing. Try to steal some momentum here in set number three.

:00:16. > :00:21.Try to figure out who is going to be in the line-up for number four, as

:00:22. > :00:27.they've got to turn it around. The USA had an answer from set number

:00:28. > :00:34.one and two. But what's fascinating is Mikhail Love is still on the

:00:35. > :00:41.bench. -- Mikhaylov is still on the bench. A brilliant pass from Priddy.

:00:42. > :00:53.A brilliant swing from Anderson and it is now set point for the USA.

:00:54. > :01:03.With this lead of five points, they definitely got their tails up and

:01:04. > :01:07.they have a belief about them now. That's the way you get it done. As

:01:08. > :01:16.much luck as they like, so take it all day long. The vital third set

:01:17. > :01:22.has gone the way of the USA, 25-19. Back in the match, trailing two sets

:01:23. > :01:27.to one. The difference maker for the teen USA was the fact that they

:01:28. > :01:32.established their medal. Sander and Anderson both with 14 points. Holt

:01:33. > :01:38.shows up with 11. Many of those came within that third set, same with

:01:39. > :01:43.David Lee. He has five points. His kills came at an opportune time.

:01:44. > :01:48.They you see Reid Priddy getting a set from the backwater, that bit

:01:49. > :01:57.they have been so desperately wanting. -- back quarter. This is

:01:58. > :02:00.the perfect start for team USA. Side out, followed up with an ace. They

:02:01. > :02:20.mean business. Side out achieved by Russia. It is

:02:21. > :02:23.evident that the US they are going after Kliuka with everything they've

:02:24. > :02:28.got once he is on court, which is why Ermakov has been coming in and

:02:29. > :02:30.replacing him during the steps to try and give Russia a little

:02:31. > :02:49.stability in their passing unit. Priddy acknowledging the error.

:02:50. > :02:55.Russell waiting for his chance. He may not get another chance to come

:02:56. > :03:00.on. If he does, he will have to make sure he takes it. So far, Priddy is

:03:01. > :03:11.doing everything he needs to stay on court for his team in this match.

:03:12. > :03:15.The rally is over and they won't be able to challenge that net touch

:03:16. > :03:19.because they needed to have done it at the time. Christenson is just

:03:20. > :03:24.saying, sorry, mate, you can't do that. You needed to have challenged

:03:25. > :03:33.when it happened. The referee is just going to tell Tetyukhin that.

:03:34. > :03:44.So, yellow card time delay given by Mr Pasquale. Volvich clearly

:03:45. > :03:51.screened during the rally, but he actually need to stay to the

:03:52. > :03:55.referee. -- clearly screened. They can't challenge made rally for

:03:56. > :03:58.Christenson, or whoever it was, touching that net because there was

:03:59. > :04:09.still in a play which needed to happen to end the rally. So, no

:04:10. > :04:16.challenge. The challenge has been denied.

:04:17. > :04:21.Great room in defence by Sander on the back court. A good touch by team

:04:22. > :04:46.USA. -- great roaming defence. It is either fantastic from Holt, or

:04:47. > :04:50.it is like that at times. Very much hit and miss. When he gets that run

:04:51. > :05:30.going he is almost unstoppable. It's a big swing, but it hasn't

:05:31. > :05:37.found the court. What is so wonderful is how well Verbov handles

:05:38. > :05:47.these hammers of jump serves. They just keep coming and coming. There's

:05:48. > :06:04.an extremely tight bin on it, but Grankin can handle. -- tight spin.

:06:05. > :06:31.just reminding them that it's the Olympics. Let's go back to what was

:06:32. > :06:36.working for them, the block. They haven't produced in the blocking.

:06:37. > :06:39.Team USA has done a great job countering that by establishing the

:06:40. > :06:47.middle and spreading that block. But when they do get an opportunity, but

:06:48. > :06:51.ball needs to hit the ground. As if you need much of a reminder that

:06:52. > :06:55.it's the Olympics and a bronze medal is on the line. But if you've got

:06:56. > :07:02.anything in the tank, you've got to spend it now. Bakun looking to do

:07:03. > :07:05.that. He will be the freshest of the players on court because he has

:07:06. > :07:17.replaced the Caillard for this match. 115 kilometres an hour. -- he

:07:18. > :07:22.has replaced Maxim Mikhaylov. Another big serve, but that time not

:07:23. > :07:28.finding its mark. It's good feedback when you get to see how fast those

:07:29. > :07:33.balls are coming. 115, it is an ace. 122, it is an error. Knowing how

:07:34. > :07:43.hard to hit a ball and knowing what that percentage feels like. -- 122,

:07:44. > :07:47.it is an air. Grankin went after the ball but because it was over past in

:07:48. > :07:51.the antenna it is either in or out. You're not allowed to go and

:07:52. > :07:55.retrieve it once served. You can only retrieve it if it goes outside

:07:56. > :07:59.the antenna and then you have to bring it back outside the antenna.

:08:00. > :08:11.Kliuka's gone early. Volvich is in. A timely error from Priddy. He now

:08:12. > :08:23.needs to make up for that with a good pass.

:08:24. > :08:32.He doesn't even need to. Tetyukhin gives him the point. Right now

:08:33. > :08:38.there's quite a few errors creeping in from the serving line. As such,

:08:39. > :08:44.it makes the game a little bit disjointed.

:08:45. > :08:49.Each time a player goes by and misses than the next promises, there

:08:50. > :08:53.is more pressure on the next one coming in. That is a nice win,

:08:54. > :09:01.street through the middle from Volkov will stop -- nice swing,

:09:02. > :09:10.straight through the middle. At six foot 11, Volkov's angles are

:09:11. > :09:15.ridiculous. He just throws darts. Reid Priddy unloading on that ball.

:09:16. > :09:21.Out of the back row. He had a smart opening, he took it. He was

:09:22. > :09:26.completely insistent. Total commitment to that particular play.

:09:27. > :09:37.You cannot hesitate for a second. Great job by Maxwell Holt. A

:09:38. > :09:42.brilliant pick-up from Priddy. When the channels was there to make the

:09:43. > :09:48.cover, Holt was looking at Anderson. Just watch this from Priddy. Reid

:09:49. > :09:54.Priddy just making the X Factor type of plays. He knows how to win medals

:09:55. > :09:58.at the Olympic Games. Just his presence on the court inspires that

:09:59. > :10:01.from the rest of the crew. Some of them with no Olympic experience. And

:10:02. > :10:29.some part of the gold-medal team. Sander gets himself ready. On a

:10:30. > :10:35.dime! Unbelievable, just when you think you did your job at the

:10:36. > :10:42.service line, Russia comes up with that. Completely in system. That's

:10:43. > :11:00.dangerous. It might stay in play. It's going to

:11:01. > :11:07.be a down ball. It's not even a downfall! What a swing from Priddy.

:11:08. > :11:18.Doesn't try to overplay that ball. Stays within his, and just split

:11:19. > :11:29.them. So, so smart. Doesn't need to be a meathead, doesn't need to try

:11:30. > :11:37.to blast away. A point is a point. The US they are taking a grip now on

:11:38. > :12:34.this set. A time-out is called by Russia.

:12:35. > :12:42.Good covering by Anderson. Brilliant, that is again taking

:12:43. > :12:46.matters into your own hands. He knew he was off the net but still got

:12:47. > :12:51.himself into a really good position to have a swing off of what was

:12:52. > :12:56.pretty much a broken play here. Reid Priddy took his approach and just

:12:57. > :13:00.reversed it. He did a great step, closed, but backwards. That is still

:13:01. > :13:09.putting that ball on his right shoulder. High, hard swing. Great

:13:10. > :13:17.job by him. He has 13. Make that 14! The USA now have an points and a

:13:18. > :13:20.6-point lead. The spread for the Americans is getting even to the

:13:21. > :13:37.point where Russia doesn't know where it's going to go next.

:13:38. > :13:47.Nice work by Tetyukhin, the two old guard. Really rolling back the years

:13:48. > :13:50.here in this bronze medal match. Tetyukhin and Priddy doing

:13:51. > :13:55.everything they can for their teams to be successful. But only one of

:13:56. > :13:58.them will be. It does look like we might be going to a deciding fifth

:13:59. > :14:09.that occur if the US they can hang onto lead. -- a deciding fifth set.

:14:10. > :14:13.Christenson, what a great job getting his hands are part-time. Get

:14:14. > :14:19.out a one handset in the wheelhouse. That is what makes Reid Priddy so,

:14:20. > :14:29.so good. And we might see his career extended on the beach.

:14:30. > :14:41.A very nice set from Grankin. This time past the three metre line,

:14:42. > :14:48.shooting that one into Volkov. Volkov and Volvich just producing

:14:49. > :14:53.for the Russians. The Americans are not too concerned about it as long

:14:54. > :15:00.as they have an answer with Matt Anderson and Reid Priddy. Whilst the

:15:01. > :15:04.US they haven't been able to run in the middle as much as they have done

:15:05. > :15:08.in the previous set, it's Anderson and Priddy who are doing all the

:15:09. > :15:17.work at the moment and keeping the USA in front.

:15:18. > :15:31.A little over excitement from Reid Priddy with that swing. No

:15:32. > :15:40.excitement by being shown by the coach at the moment. Oh, dear. That

:15:41. > :15:43.is dodge ball at its worst for Anderson. You're out!

:15:44. > :16:10.LAUGHTER As soon as the ball is in, it is

:16:11. > :16:12.Russia. The are now out for lunch, there is

:16:13. > :16:34.no chance for them. Sergey Grankin going with the

:16:35. > :16:36.one-handed set. Micah Christenson will feel unlucky, that went right

:16:37. > :16:55.through his arms. Off the foot, but it will not be

:16:56. > :17:03.coming back. The middle are now starting to function for the USA.

:17:04. > :17:19.They have shown up insect number three and they are not going

:17:20. > :17:33.anywhere. Stash hiddenpos-macro -- in set to number three. You would

:17:34. > :17:38.like to see more consistency from Micah Christenson from the serving

:17:39. > :17:49.line. Like for like substitution. Sergey Grankin going off. Kobzar

:17:50. > :18:06.going on. Erik Shoji creating that opportunity

:18:07. > :18:10.for the Americans. Passing extremely well. Now Russia is in their heads

:18:11. > :18:15.about the middle attack from the Americans. Not often does Matt

:18:16. > :18:26.Anderson get to see a clean swing like that with one blocker. And when

:18:27. > :18:30.he does, he takes advantage. Right now, the USA's side out is working

:18:31. > :18:40.well, and it needs to be because they're serving is anything but.

:18:41. > :18:59.They are being helped by the poor form from Russia.

:19:00. > :19:12.That will not come back. A very good serve from Maxwell Holt. It is so

:19:13. > :19:17.important to stay the course. And not have anything to do with the

:19:18. > :19:21.previous two serves before you. It is the only skill where the ball is

:19:22. > :19:25.at a rest, the only skill completely under your control, not predicated

:19:26. > :19:34.on someone else's touch before or after you. It is imperative that you

:19:35. > :19:47.hold each serve as its own entity. And now we see Mikhailov coming back

:19:48. > :19:58.into the match. He has replaced Tetyukhin as a swing at. Trying

:19:59. > :20:03.something new here, but he's running out of points. That is a great swing

:20:04. > :20:05.from Taylor Sander, through the heart of the defence of Russia, with

:20:06. > :20:20.a free hit. Mikhailov and Anderson play on the

:20:21. > :20:28.same club team, and one of them has to play the outside, however the USA

:20:29. > :20:42.and I only have two points required, so surely this will go to a decider.

:20:43. > :20:48.He hammered that at the same velocity that he did when the toss

:20:49. > :20:58.was in the correct spot. It takes some recognition within the moment

:20:59. > :21:12.to know what toss you need to play differently.

:21:13. > :21:17.You just knew that would going to the middle of a good pass, and even

:21:18. > :21:23.though Russia knew it would go to the middle, they could not stop it,

:21:24. > :21:25.and it is now set point for the USA. Anderson goes back to the serving

:21:26. > :21:49.line. Mikhailov could only kept. -- tip.

:21:50. > :21:58.They denied the first set point chance. Matt Anderson might have

:21:59. > :22:07.been the only option for that, as Reid Priddy came all the way across.

:22:08. > :22:11.It was hard for him to get back out. Micah Christenson had a look, he

:22:12. > :22:16.went to David Lee, the USA take the set. It is 2-2 here, which means

:22:17. > :22:23.we're going to the decider to see who will take bronze in real 2016.

:22:24. > :22:29.STUDIO: what a great fightback, remember they were 2-0 down, but

:22:30. > :22:35.since the break after the second set, they have come back, and it is

:22:36. > :22:42.now 2-2, as we go into the fifth and final set. A reminder that the fifth

:22:43. > :22:47.set, the decider, goes to 15 points. First 15 wins it. On BBC One, the

:22:48. > :22:52.men's marathon is in its closing stages. Kenya is leading, who won

:22:53. > :22:58.the London Marathon for the last two years. He has the first Olympic gold

:22:59. > :23:00.in his sights. He has won silver and bronze on the track, but he is now

:23:01. > :23:17.ten minutes or so away from the end. That is Kipchoge with the gold in

:23:18. > :23:25.his sights. We will head back to the volleyball, Russia against the USA,

:23:26. > :23:29.USA got the gold in 2008, Russia in 2012. Let me hand back over to the

:23:30. > :23:38.commentators. Away we go. That has come off the

:23:39. > :23:45.block and away. Tetyukhin wriggling under the ball. He made sure it did

:23:46. > :23:51.not touch him, and it avoided the net that he avoided the net before

:23:52. > :23:55.the ball hit the floor. When it looked like the USA would have the

:23:56. > :24:03.opening point, it is Russia who has it.

:24:04. > :24:11.This time Anderson went through the outside.

:24:12. > :24:20.And aggressive set by Micah Christenson. Great to see Matt

:24:21. > :24:33.Anderson do something effective with it. Again, the service faults are

:24:34. > :24:42.plain to see. The USA throwing caution to the wind. Very tidy from

:24:43. > :24:50.Russia, and a very tidy swing from Reid Priddy. He is so crafty and

:24:51. > :24:58.wise, which makes him one of the best in the game currently, and

:24:59. > :25:05.perhaps one of the best ever. He knows when it takes a hard swing and

:25:06. > :25:12.off-speed. He has just created a space for the Americans to really

:25:13. > :25:21.settle in with confidence. He is doing the stuff you cannot put

:25:22. > :25:23.figures on. Maxwell Holt moving into position one, looked like he did not

:25:24. > :25:34.get hold of the ball. Any kind of daylight shown by either

:25:35. > :25:40.team could be critical here. Two points would be massive. That one

:25:41. > :25:48.came off the block. Another good hit from Reid Priddy. Reid Priddy

:25:49. > :26:03.stepping in, taking passes, scoring twice.

:26:04. > :26:13.Brilliant defence from the USA. Another chance for Russia.

:26:14. > :26:28.Russia take the lead, that was and great rally. Micah Christenson

:26:29. > :26:36.trying to go one-handed. And Falk of puts it away.

:26:37. > :27:08.Next touch by the USA. A 2-point advantage. -- net touch. It is

:27:09. > :27:13.important to make your adjustments, to play within yourself at the same

:27:14. > :27:18.time. Trying to do too much, wanting something to match, you tend to

:27:19. > :27:28.overplay. Sometimes you get a little excited jump out of your shoes. Team

:27:29. > :27:42.USA has done a great job in three and four. They are just being them.

:27:43. > :27:48.Athletes ask themselves when to try harder and 20 tries smarter. From

:27:49. > :27:59.Reid Priddy, the trying smarter has worked.

:28:00. > :28:16.Falk of the serve. -- Volkov with the serve.

:28:17. > :28:29.Good blocking from the USA, David Lee denied Volvich. David Lee, what

:28:30. > :28:33.an athletic move out of the middle. The body went one way, the

:28:34. > :28:54.brilliance of the hands went the other.

:28:55. > :28:59.Some speed taken off the ball, making sure Russia had to play it.

:29:00. > :29:16.That gave them options. That will do nicely for the United

:29:17. > :29:24.States. A free ball for them, a 3-point. Not having to work get

:29:25. > :29:33.there side out. Both teams having gained from the block defence. It is

:29:34. > :29:41.no one service. Unforced error, which puts the USA level. It seems

:29:42. > :29:46.like he got a little rushed. Whether he did not expect it as whether his

:29:47. > :29:51.footwork failed, he did not get full extension or the take-off that he is

:29:52. > :29:52.known for. They are going to challenge to see whether or not the

:29:53. > :30:05.ball landed in or out. It's not even close. It was closer

:30:06. > :30:18.to the boarding and it was to be sidelined. A little bit of a time

:30:19. > :30:23.delay. One challenge left. Kliuka steps up to the mark and gets

:30:24. > :30:28.blocked out. Russia are still holding the advantage. They are

:30:29. > :30:32.signing out for the lead each time. It is the USA who still need to go

:30:33. > :30:35.back after signing out to get a point from service for them to move

:30:36. > :30:45.in front and then hold the initiative. Kliuka has 12 points on

:30:46. > :30:50.the match thus far. Matt Anderson! They needed a big performance by him

:30:51. > :31:04.tonight and he has delivered. He minds the gap in the block. Matt

:31:05. > :31:07.Anderson has 18 points. It's tough for Russia knowing that it's going

:31:08. > :31:19.to him, and you still can't do anything about it.

:31:20. > :31:29.Christenson's Eric means the team now change around. Russia leading by

:31:30. > :31:34.one. -- Christenson's error. What is discouraging is to not see an

:31:35. > :31:38.adjustment. There needs to be an adjustment, make an adjustment in

:31:39. > :31:48.the toss, the percentage all the spin. -- or the spin. I note Team

:31:49. > :31:52.USA needs to go for they serve, they've been talking about it. That

:31:53. > :32:00.was the difference between them and Russia. We have said it before, they

:32:01. > :32:04.need to serve tough. 23, 24 errors. They are not setting themselves up

:32:05. > :32:08.for a lot of success, either. It's making this match very, very tight.

:32:09. > :32:19.Especially when you're dealing with a Russian block. Good pick-up by

:32:20. > :32:23.Sergey to keep that ball alive. Anderson getting the ball before a

:32:24. > :32:36.huge Russian block could actually seal the net.

:32:37. > :32:46.Comes back with a big swing. The Russians edged ahead once more. If

:32:47. > :32:52.we get to 14-14 we will just keep going until somebody gets two clear.

:32:53. > :32:57.Right now, nobody is able to make a huge breakthrough. The Russian lead

:32:58. > :33:07.of a couple of points was pegged back pretty quickly. An easy leap

:33:08. > :33:16.for Priddy. That's a sign that you've played many, many matches.

:33:17. > :33:20.Using many balls. You don't even need to make a move, the second is

:33:21. > :33:37.that your shoulder you know it's out. A chance here for the USA. Kept

:33:38. > :33:41.in play by Kliuka. Good up by Holt. Brilliant play from Priddy. The

:33:42. > :33:46.first time he tried to block it, it didn't work. The second time, he

:33:47. > :33:53.just brought the hammer where it did work. As much as we know how the

:33:54. > :34:01.presence of Matt Anderson, with 19 points, Reid Priddy has 18. He can

:34:02. > :34:08.bring the boom, but he can also go of speed out of the back row. Just a

:34:09. > :34:09.really, really, brilliant scorer. He is an all-round player that is just

:34:10. > :34:34.so fun to watch. It is advantage USA right now. How

:34:35. > :34:37.long can they hold onto it for? You get the feeling we're in for real

:34:38. > :34:47.nail-biting initially, particularly for both that fans will stop -- a

:34:48. > :35:00.real nail-biting finish here, particularly for both sets of fans.

:35:01. > :35:07.Excellent blocking. The US women's team like what they see. It looks

:35:08. > :35:12.very familiar, and it looks like bronze. The USA are doing a great

:35:13. > :35:19.job giving themselves fewer opportunities. It starts with the

:35:20. > :35:23.serve. Maxwell Holt, that was a mere 103 kilometres an hour. That is

:35:24. > :35:30.extremely fast, don't get me wrong. But they've also been known to bury

:35:31. > :35:36.114 kilometres an hour in the net which doesn't do anybody any good.

:35:37. > :35:40.This were not going into the net, but going long. However, as far as

:35:41. > :35:48.things now go in the way that this match is balanced, the USA are

:35:49. > :35:52.signing out with a chance to take the bronze medal. They have worked

:35:53. > :35:56.themselves into this position. It is up to Russia now to work themselves

:35:57. > :36:02.back. They need a point from service just to get level and another one to

:36:03. > :36:06.go in front. We have Maxim Mikhaylov going back into the match. He is

:36:07. > :36:15.going to be a blocking substitution here. He was a big part of USA's

:36:16. > :36:24.attempt to slow them down. He hasn't been in the match. What a set from

:36:25. > :36:27.Christenson. Team USA is going to avoid Maxim Mikhaylov altogether.

:36:28. > :36:37.They're just going to run the middle. There was a challenge

:36:38. > :36:41.requested. Grankin said, come on! Christenson set that ball on our

:36:42. > :36:44.side of the net, you can't challenge that. What they're having to

:36:45. > :36:49.challenge is whether the ball was in or out. It was a really good save

:36:50. > :36:56.from Christenson, back court having to get that ball at full stretch and

:36:57. > :37:03.find the middle. The ball clipped the net on its way out, or on its

:37:04. > :37:06.way down. They didn't look like it had gone over, that is not something

:37:07. > :37:09.that can be challenged anyway. Whilst they have a look at those

:37:10. > :37:16.replays to know whether the ball is in or out. There was no net touch.

:37:17. > :37:20.If there was any part of the ball in that centreline it is good and it is

:37:21. > :37:24.fair game. The ball has to be completely on the other side of the

:37:25. > :37:28.net in order for it to be deemed and over. They were looking for a net

:37:29. > :37:34.touch because that ball is already going up and down. They felt maybe

:37:35. > :37:40.Christenson touched it, but it wasn't to be the case. A brilliant

:37:41. > :37:45.position now for the USA. Grankin is back in. Anderson with the serve and

:37:46. > :37:50.an opportunity to put the pressure back on Russia. It is an ace from

:37:51. > :38:00.Anderson! Write down the line. What a time to come up with one of those!

:38:01. > :38:04.He has beating Kliuka. Just so precise. An aggressive precision.

:38:05. > :38:14.The level of difficulty and that is incredible. What a time to execute

:38:15. > :38:17.an ace serve. That's what makes Matt Anderson who he is as one of the

:38:18. > :38:24.best players in the world. That's his 20th point. His 20th point on

:38:25. > :38:39.the match. Well, the body language tells you a

:38:40. > :38:46.lot, doesn't it? Look at the body language of Russia at the moment.

:38:47. > :38:52.That does not look like a team who think they are going to win this

:38:53. > :38:56.game. It does look like a team that is going to stick together and try

:38:57. > :39:03.to find a way. These guys have been able to turn it around before. It's

:39:04. > :39:07.gone outside the antenna, come back outside the antenna. Russia need to

:39:08. > :39:12.have a swing. Kliuka does exactly that. No three points, though. No

:39:13. > :39:19.easy scores for Russia at the moment. Christenson giving it

:39:20. > :39:23.everything to bring it back. However, it was all in vain in the

:39:24. > :39:37.end as Kliuka just hammers that want a crosscourt. -- hammers that one

:39:38. > :39:46.across the court. Bulk of the serve. -- Volkov. Clever from Christenson.

:39:47. > :39:50.He is frontcourt. The Russian workers paying attention and now it

:39:51. > :39:54.is much point for the USA. Three Russian players touched that ball.

:39:55. > :40:02.That was just a push ball. Extremely frustrating for them. Reid Priddy

:40:03. > :40:13.diving in front, making sure that that ball was going to target.

:40:14. > :40:19.Great, great their reception by Reid . It stays in. That was a hold job

:40:20. > :40:23.right moment for all the Russian fans and the Russian players as that

:40:24. > :40:28.ball went to the baseline. Look at the ball for the USA. They have got

:40:29. > :40:40.two opportunities to win this and take the bronze medal.

:40:41. > :40:49.It was kept off the floor by Verbov. Kliuka gets blocked out, and another

:40:50. > :40:55.much point is saved. The first one is saved. Only one opportunity now

:40:56. > :41:01.for the USA to get this done from the pass from side out. There will

:41:02. > :41:19.be a bit of pressure on them. That's why time-out has been called. Just

:41:20. > :41:23.keep playing ball! It's more cross. At number 12, its small corner. --

:41:24. > :41:42.it is more corner. So, it comes down to this now. It's

:41:43. > :41:46.the USA in a brilliant position, but still under pressure. It is Russia

:41:47. > :41:54.serving under immense pressure. A great reception by Shoji. It is

:41:55. > :41:59.still in play, but it's Russia who have a swing for the side out.

:42:00. > :42:04.Verbov keep it off the floor. Anderson for the match. He's done

:42:05. > :42:14.it! It's all over, and it is the USA who came back from 2-0 set down to

:42:15. > :42:19.take the third. It is vaguely take the bronze medal hearing Rio.

:42:20. > :42:25.STUDIO: what a fightback by the USA. They were 2-0 set down, but they

:42:26. > :42:34.have roared back in style and taken this bronze medal in the fifth and

:42:35. > :42:40.final set of the match. Champions in 2008, came into this match as the

:42:41. > :42:44.favourite. Russia were the favourites having won the title in

:42:45. > :42:48.London but they are walking away empty-handed for the first time in

:42:49. > :42:52.five Olympic Games. For the last four they have won a medal. But not

:42:53. > :42:57.this time, it is the USA who have won the bronze medal. Don't forget,

:42:58. > :43:02.Brazil going for gold medal number seven in the final against Italy in

:43:03. > :43:03.the volleyball later on today. Let's bring you the headlines from the

:43:04. > :43:24.men's marathon. It was Kipchoge who stormed away, he

:43:25. > :43:31.has of course one of the London Marathon many times. Kipchoge, of

:43:32. > :43:35.course, he had won bronze and silver on the track. He was desperate to

:43:36. > :43:41.get his hands on an Olympic gold. He has done today. Callum Hawkins of

:43:42. > :43:47.Great Britain, our best finisher of our three athletes. He finished in

:43:48. > :43:52.the ninth spot. Just to let you know that coming up soon on BBC an

:43:53. > :43:53.interview with four time Olympic champion Mo Farah after completing

:43:54. > :44:40.last night's double double. So, the men's basketball next. We

:44:41. > :44:45.will see Serbia and the USA, the USA are going for the 15th gold medal in

:44:46. > :44:49.the Olympics. They are playing at 7:45pm. Some people said that they

:44:50. > :44:59.came in here with the second team, but they are on the verge of winning

:45:00. > :45:04.a gold medal. We are going to watch Australia and Spain. I will hand you

:45:05. > :45:15.over to the commentators. Spain are wearing red, Australia and

:45:16. > :45:30.the yellow. A lot of memory. They started cold,

:45:31. > :46:09.at that end of the court. The shot was. Those big players in

:46:10. > :46:19.the middle give Australia the edge on the rebound. Use Bogut, he was

:46:20. > :46:40.pushing her main. He is such a good player, Gasol. He

:46:41. > :46:51.has been fantastic throughout the Olympic Games.

:46:52. > :47:25.Australia will keep possession with 19.

:47:26. > :47:42.Gasol with the rebound. Spain, quickly.

:47:43. > :47:57.That is the danger for Australia. Yes, they can put it away, Spain.

:47:58. > :48:18.Three on five. Gasol moving the ball around nicely.

:48:19. > :48:25.Australia got off to a slow start. They need to step it up. That is a

:48:26. > :48:40.foul. Bogut pulled down the rebound at the other end. At that understand

:48:41. > :48:51.why Rubio took that all. -- to the foul.

:48:52. > :49:01.The Australian team have been described as the best passing team,

:49:02. > :49:12.but they are struggling to get the passing game going.

:49:13. > :50:14.Gasol was held up at the foul line, so he will be held up for a foul.

:50:15. > :50:20.You wonder why they do that. It is dangerous. He hit the ball the first

:50:21. > :51:37.time and gave the foul away. The assistant coach was in the

:51:38. > :51:39.Chicago Bulls. Andrew Bogut left the ball for Patty Mills, it is 6-5. Low

:51:40. > :52:07.scoring in the first quarter. A great pass from Sergio Llull.

:52:08. > :52:15.Rodriguez was hanging onto Andrew Bogut as if he could not get close.

:52:16. > :52:18.Now we have called for the foul on Matthew Dellavedova. You can try to

:52:19. > :52:25.get too cute when you're trying to play. There is contact and there is

:52:26. > :52:28.contact. Yes, you have just got to keep playing and not worry about the

:52:29. > :52:38.calls and just keep doing what you're meant to be doing and playing

:52:39. > :52:39.as hard as you can. Aron Baynes has come off, David Andersen has come in

:52:40. > :52:54.for Australia. It came off the board. They missed

:52:55. > :53:00.the 24 second clock again. The entire Spanish team at upon the

:53:01. > :53:07.floor. They were screaming for it. Andrew Bogut had a shot, but he did

:53:08. > :53:11.not take it. He has had a few threes in the Olympic Games, and it is a

:53:12. > :53:17.wonder that Australia are taking so long to get into the shooting

:53:18. > :53:23.position. It was close, you could see the clocks which 20. -- the

:53:24. > :53:47.clocks switch to zero. Matthew Dellavedova gets the foul.

:53:48. > :53:59.He comes to the bench with two. That brings in Damien Martyn.

:54:00. > :54:09.Pau Gasol broken up by David Andersen. Anderson did well to block

:54:10. > :54:19.the move from Pau Gasol. He is such an accomplished player. -- Anderson

:54:20. > :54:34.is such an accomplished player. David Steel four on the stop clock.

:54:35. > :54:44.-- they are is still four. It was reset, and a foul was called.

:54:45. > :54:50.It has to be a foul, that is the only way that they can reset it to

:54:51. > :55:06.14 seconds. Or a kick. Yes, some kind of

:55:07. > :55:23.violation. They only had four seconds, but it only took him 1.4.

:55:24. > :55:38.That was almost Australian rules football! Sergio -- Sergio Llull was

:55:39. > :55:42.lucky. Maybe they are just getting accustomed to the way that the

:55:43. > :55:47.officials are officiating this one. But it is not a good start for fouls

:55:48. > :55:54.for either team. Good to see that Patty Mills is up and going. Both

:55:55. > :56:23.teams in penalty situation. It was sent in by Andrew Bogut.

:56:24. > :56:26.There was a move from Patty Mills. Spain blocked it brilliantly. Andrew

:56:27. > :56:37.Bogut will be called for the foul on Gasol. Bogut has nothing to complain

:56:38. > :56:43.about, it is obviously a foul. I think he was more complaining that

:56:44. > :56:47.they had the easy open pass. He was looking so far down, I thought it

:56:48. > :56:54.could only be at the official. But he is such a tall player... It was

:56:55. > :56:58.clearly a foul, he had scored but it has been tough for Australia, and

:56:59. > :57:03.the time-out has been called. They have got to discuss things because

:57:04. > :57:07.they are finding that maybe they have looked at what they did, and

:57:08. > :57:08.the teams are finding that if you close the middle off, there is a lot

:57:09. > :57:39.of troublemaking extra shots. The thing for Australia, with Aron

:57:40. > :57:43.Baynes out, they need defensive rebound. And Andrew Bogut is the man

:57:44. > :57:52.doing it, but David Andersen has to also get in. The shooting has been

:57:53. > :58:08.good. And you notice that David Andersen was... Aron Baynes was

:58:09. > :58:11.trying to play offside. You mentioned how the teams were

:58:12. > :58:15.figuring out how to play against Australia, and Spain seems to be

:58:16. > :58:18.doing it. This is the test for Australia, you have to have more

:58:19. > :58:27.than one option at international level. Gasol had trouble shooting in

:58:28. > :58:30.the preliminary round games, but with medals on the line, he knows

:58:31. > :59:03.when to step it up. That is better stuff, what you

:59:04. > :59:06.expect to see from the Australians. What a relief that his team has come

:59:07. > :59:16.out and executed what we were talking about. Sergio Rodrigeuz had

:59:17. > :59:35.a handful of Martin's jersey as he went past.

:59:36. > :59:50.Both teams are trying to figure out what is and what is not a final.

:59:51. > :59:58.Four turnovers forestry all you. And a couple of those were shot clock

:59:59. > :00:13.violations. -- for Australia. Nikola Mirotic got over it.

:00:14. > :00:24.Spain wanting to fast break. Mirotic was down underneath and then Gasol

:00:25. > :00:29.joins the attack. Mirotic with the offensive rebound. Tries for Gasol,

:00:30. > :00:34.that will be a backcourt violation. The first turnover is for Spain, it

:00:35. > :00:39.will go to Australia. It's not quite the explosive start that Serbia made

:00:40. > :00:42.against Australia and ran out to a massive lead early one. But Spain

:00:43. > :00:45.are certainly stopping the Australians from playing the game

:00:46. > :00:49.that they want to play. The outside tuning is not working, they need to

:00:50. > :00:54.find solutions. Patty Mills has not got into the game. This is again the

:00:55. > :01:05.test for Australia. How do they recover? Mirotic is out. Waiting for

:01:06. > :01:17.Rudy Fernandez to take more outside shots. A brilliant move from David

:01:18. > :01:27.Anderson. He is 36 but still a sensational player. There is Rudy

:01:28. > :01:35.Fernandez with a foul on Ingles, bending over backwards trying not to

:01:36. > :01:47.fall. That was brilliant stuff to make Ingles move and get the contact

:01:48. > :01:48.of him. Rudy Fernandez goes to the line for
