:00:00. > :00:21.A good start from both Ed Ling and a Fabbrizi. A first miss from the rank

:00:22. > :00:25.out side here at the Olympic Shooting Centre, Kamar. It is a

:00:26. > :00:30.sprawling Army base with a very good cloud here and they are very

:00:31. > :00:36.enthusiastic. -- a very good crowd there. There is a big British

:00:37. > :00:42.contingent supporting Ed Ling, the man born in Taunton. He is a farm

:00:43. > :00:47.and he continues to be a farmer. He first learned to shoot on his dad

:00:48. > :00:57.farm. He was 12 and he makes his first miss as well. Fabbrizi with a

:00:58. > :01:02.chance to edge ahead here and another miss. Goodness me, that is a

:01:03. > :01:05.lot of misses early on. The man with the flags indicate that this has

:01:06. > :01:21.been made and no target is called. Ahmed Kamar, just has to reset. That

:01:22. > :01:29.was flung far to the right but he did well to connect. Now Pellielo,

:01:30. > :01:33.the man known as Johnny to his friends. Two silvers, won bronze,

:01:34. > :01:45.just missing the gold for his collection. -- one bronze. We are

:01:46. > :01:52.missing some from qualification that we thought might come through. Jib

:01:53. > :02:04.Arnason regrets from Croatia was ninth. -- Giovanni Cernogoraz. The

:02:05. > :02:14.world number one, Alberto Fernandez, was only 17th. Off to the left and I

:02:15. > :02:20.think that was a miss as well. Struggling at the moment, Ahmed

:02:21. > :02:29.Kamar, the youngest man in the cupboard Ishant who comes from

:02:30. > :02:34.Cairo. -- in the competition. They have the luxury of a little longer

:02:35. > :02:41.to aim than the athletes who take part in double trap when the two

:02:42. > :02:44.targets also target called rubber it was flung out of the bunker but in

:02:45. > :02:57.several pieces. -- no target called. The athletes

:02:58. > :03:04.have the ear defenders on but they will still hear the crowd. It is all

:03:05. > :03:10.about concentrating. Some of these athletes will be just counting which

:03:11. > :03:15.shots they get from which station and which way they are going, left,

:03:16. > :03:20.right or centre so they know what they have got left is the

:03:21. > :03:22.competition goes on. Some do it on instinct but not many. That is

:03:23. > :03:39.better from the Egyptian. Pellielo now. Another miss from one

:03:40. > :03:53.of the favourites. There have been a lot of misses. Glasnovic is the only

:03:54. > :04:05.man not to have missed. No target, that will not help the nerves.

:04:06. > :04:17.His fifth Olympics. Now on the far side, the Junior World Championship

:04:18. > :04:22.still in with the chance, he has only missed one will stop at

:04:23. > :04:28.Azinovic the only one yet to miss. That is a miss from Massimo

:04:29. > :04:44.Fabbrizi. Silver medallist in London of course.

:04:45. > :04:53.A big Italian contingent here. They took the gold medal indoors this

:04:54. > :05:00.morning, hoping for more of the same here.

:05:01. > :05:13.Five shots and only one man has managed to bag all of the clays and

:05:14. > :05:18.that was Josip Glasnovic. Ed Ling still has a chance of getting into

:05:19. > :05:24.the gold medal match, tied with Giovanni Pellielo and David

:05:25. > :05:29.Kostelecky with Fabbrizi and Kamar the two in danger of dropping out at

:05:30. > :05:35.the moment but we are only a third of the way through this semifinal.

:05:36. > :05:40.We start again, Ed Ling drawn in one so he will always start and he nails

:05:41. > :06:14.the one straight through the centre. Pellielo, two in a row for him.

:06:15. > :06:26.Glasnovic, looking confident, yet to miss. Kostelecky, another very

:06:27. > :06:30.experienced athlete, he already knows what it is like to stand on

:06:31. > :06:36.the top step of the podium in this competition. What can you do here?

:06:37. > :06:42.Just caught that one, a little puff of the powder inside the clays. They

:06:43. > :06:57.just to break a little bit, doesn't have to be to bits for it to count.

:06:58. > :07:00.-- smashed to bits. That is a miss. Fabbrizi struggling a little bit,

:07:01. > :07:12.three misses for the Italian. Kamar with a couple of misses, also

:07:13. > :07:17.struggling in this competition come he needs to be solid now. A lot of

:07:18. > :07:27.elevation on that one but he did very well.

:07:28. > :07:43.Pellielo, all the experience in the world.

:07:44. > :07:53.Ed Ling is hanging in there. What can he do here? Straight down the

:07:54. > :08:10.middle and easy as you like. The man in his third Olympic Games. That was

:08:11. > :08:21.pretty. It was very high. -- tricky. Fabbrizi really struggling, four

:08:22. > :08:25.misses now for the Italian. Kamar, after missing two out of three at

:08:26. > :08:31.the start, has bagged the last five and is into this semifinal. It may

:08:32. > :08:36.well be a shoot off at the end of this to decide who goes into the

:08:37. > :08:44.gold medal match and the bronze medal match.

:08:45. > :09:03.Kostelecky missed the first one. None since then. Ed Ling get the

:09:04. > :09:07.next round away. -- gets. Fabbrizi finally nails one after missing the

:09:08. > :09:11.last two. The weather conditions are pretty good, you can see the

:09:12. > :09:18.sunshine on the hills beyond, the breeze is like. It was very windy

:09:19. > :09:21.yesterday. It has calmed down, but it is the same for everybody. They

:09:22. > :09:34.tell me they don't really mind if it is a bit breezy. It is more of an

:09:35. > :09:42.issue in the skeet competition when the clays are coming across the

:09:43. > :09:47.shooters. Now then, Ed Ling, one of the first to secure his place at Rio

:09:48. > :09:56.with a silver at the World Championships in 2014. He is going

:09:57. > :10:00.well with just one miss. Fabbrizi, just settling back into it now but

:10:01. > :10:08.still struggling, bottom of the rankings at the moment.

:10:09. > :10:22.Kamar, he has had a couple of known targets -- no targets. 29-year-old.

:10:23. > :10:28.He had only been shooting six years which in shooting terms is not that

:10:29. > :10:36.long. This would not be good for his concentration or his nerves. You can

:10:37. > :10:40.see how they try to cancel out the distractions. Three in a row now

:10:41. > :10:45.come a bit of a problem. It is winter of course here but it is

:10:46. > :10:53.still pretty warm and you can get the targets sticking together but he

:10:54. > :10:56.did very well just to concentrate. Apart from the two misses in the

:10:57. > :11:02.first three, he is going pretty well.

:11:03. > :11:19.Glasnovic. He is yet to miss. Kostelecky. Shot very early, always

:11:20. > :11:24.a good sign, seeing the target well and we are two thirds of the way

:11:25. > :11:30.through this semifinal. Glasnovic is looking pretty good at the moment.

:11:31. > :11:36.It can all change, it is very tight behind him.

:11:37. > :11:44.Fabbrizi is having a horror show at the moment. Kamar is just one point

:11:45. > :11:51.behind the guys in the medal positions. There is Ed Ling.

:11:52. > :11:56.Declined to go to Beijing because he would have had to train full-time in

:11:57. > :12:00.Italy and he wanted to continue his farming in Taunton and be coached by

:12:01. > :12:06.his dad, Steve, who started him shooting. The whole family like to

:12:07. > :12:15.get involved. That is not a good start, a miss from Ed Ling.

:12:16. > :12:19.Fabbrizi, can he start this phase is better? He can, that is three in a

:12:20. > :12:31.row but he is still struggling. And up miss -- a miss down the middle.

:12:32. > :12:35.Pellielo, just one miss so far and he is looking very good will stop

:12:36. > :12:43.one of the most accomplished athletes in this line-up. Still,

:12:44. > :12:52.Glasnovic goes on in perfect style with 11 out of 11 so far.

:12:53. > :13:02.Ed Ling needs to put that Cambuur behind him. That was tricky with

:13:03. > :13:10.decent elevation as well. -- put that miss behind him.

:13:11. > :13:31.This is Pellielo. Italian junior champion at ballroom dancing,

:13:32. > :13:35.believe it or not, in 1989! 12 out of 12 forecast a pitch who is

:13:36. > :13:47.getting a lot of support from those in the stand behind. -- for

:13:48. > :13:52.Glasnovic. Ed Ling has two misses but he is looking confident.

:13:53. > :14:03.Fabbrizi. As you can see from the athletes move from station to

:14:04. > :14:10.station, six athletes, five stations. Kamar has really

:14:11. > :14:19.impressed. After a wobbly start, he has looked good. Pellielo. The

:14:20. > :14:30.oldest man in the field at 46, qualified top with 122 out of 125

:14:31. > :14:37.targets. They shoot in a series of 25/2-macro days so it is a long haul

:14:38. > :14:45.and they have to be fit athletes. -- series of 25, over two days.

:14:46. > :14:52.Glasnovic is still on for a perfect... There you go! His first

:14:53. > :14:57.miss but he is still looking pretty good. Ed Ling needs to keep going

:14:58. > :15:07.but another miss and that could be costly. He started so well but he is

:15:08. > :15:11.looking pretty tight at the moment. Glasnovic still looking good for the

:15:12. > :15:29.gold medal match but the rest is still up for grabs. Pellielo.

:15:30. > :15:37.He takes his time. 12 seconds on the clock when the referee tells them to

:15:38. > :15:50.get ready. Glasnovic has 14 out of 14,

:15:51. > :15:58.excellent shooting from the Croatian. He wasn't really on the

:15:59. > :16:03.radar as one of the stars of this line-up, the man from the Croatian

:16:04. > :16:12.army. That is better from Ed Ling, 12 out of 15 for him. Looks good for

:16:13. > :16:22.a medal but which medal shoot off it will be come we will have to wait

:16:23. > :16:32.and see. These are the final shots. We might have a shoot off for the

:16:33. > :16:43.bronze medal match. Pellielo, 14 will see him into the gold medal

:16:44. > :16:50.match. Glasnovic looking for a perfect 15 out of 15 in this

:16:51. > :17:03.semifinal. Calm and cool and collected and he tops the standings.

:17:04. > :17:08.It is tight Kostelecky, if he takes this, he will have a place in the

:17:09. > :17:14.bronze medal match and Ed Ling and Kamar will have to have a shoot off.

:17:15. > :17:25.He nailed it so Kostelecky is confirmed in third place and he will

:17:26. > :17:32.go to the bronze medal match but there is still a shoot off between

:17:33. > :17:38.Ed Ling and Ahmed Kamar. Glasnovic and Pellielo will contest the old

:17:39. > :17:44.medal match. Kostelecky of the Czech Republic has a berth in the bronze

:17:45. > :17:49.medal match. The proceeds of Italy is confirmed in sixth place but who

:17:50. > :17:55.will squeak in with a chance for a bronze medal between Ed Ling and

:17:56. > :18:02.Kamar? We will find out in just a minute. We said what it would mean

:18:03. > :18:05.to Pellielo if he could get a gold medal. Two silvers and a bronze am

:18:06. > :18:26.desperate to add to his collection. His life is very much farming and

:18:27. > :18:33.shooting. When he got married his father arranged an arch of shotguns

:18:34. > :18:43.outside the wedding, a shotgun wedding, I would guess! He has to

:18:44. > :18:53.take on the surprise package, the youngest in the competition, he has

:18:54. > :19:07.only been shooting for six years and he is ranked 56, Ahmed Kamar. He is

:19:08. > :19:19.double the ranking of Ed Ling, 22 in the world. It is sudden death, first

:19:20. > :19:34.one to miss. The first one to miss will rue that two days of hard work

:19:35. > :19:41.has not come to a medal. Ed Ling shoots first. These can go one

:19:42. > :19:52.further sometime, not always, the competition can be short and sharp.

:19:53. > :20:03.There was one a few years ago that went past 50 shots. We shall see.

:20:04. > :20:13.Who will keep their nerve? There is a big debate over who should go

:20:14. > :20:28.first or second. Ahmed Kamar knows he has to this day -- hit to stay in

:20:29. > :20:40.this shoot off. And he does. Oh, that is a mess. Ed Ling has placed

:20:41. > :20:48.the future of his bronze medal position in the hands of Ahmed

:20:49. > :21:09.Kamar. He has missed as well. Yes! On we go. The pressure is now back

:21:10. > :21:20.on Ahmed Kamar. Is that a miss? It is. Ed Ling from Great Britain makes

:21:21. > :21:30.it through to the bronze medal match. A real shame for Ahmed Kamar,

:21:31. > :21:40.the youngest in the competition, 29 years of age. He shot beautifully

:21:41. > :21:53.after a slow start. No wonder the coach is proud of him. I am pretty

:21:54. > :22:04.sure we will see more of him in years to come. Ed Ling will be up

:22:05. > :22:10.first in the bronze medal match against David Kostelecky in the

:22:11. > :22:21.bronze medal match. Ahmed Kamar takes fifth place and Fabbrizi takes

:22:22. > :22:29.six and they'll take a close -- no further part in this men's trap

:22:30. > :22:39.competition. These guys all know each other. They spend a lot of time

:22:40. > :22:52.on the range together. They know that only one of these two will be

:22:53. > :23:00.getting a medal. These are the two athletes who are shooting for a

:23:01. > :23:12.bronze medal here at the Olympic Shooting Centre. Who will be on the

:23:13. > :23:21.podium and who will have to take an agonising fourth-place? Ed Ling has

:23:22. > :23:33.already come through that shoot off. He missed his shot and it looks like

:23:34. > :23:44.Ahmed Kamar would take the place but he has managed to claw his way back

:23:45. > :23:53.in. Can he claim Britain's first shooting medal of the Olympics? He

:23:54. > :24:00.is up against David Kostelecky off the Czech Republic, Gold medallist

:24:01. > :24:11.in Beijing, of course. He has experience of the final. Ed Ling was

:24:12. > :24:21.21st in London than 25th in Athens so whatever happens it is a vast

:24:22. > :24:30.improvement. His dad, Steve is his personal coach. A very strong bond

:24:31. > :24:42.between the two. The format is the same again, 15 shots. Not a great

:24:43. > :24:50.start from the Brit on. A strong start from David Kostelecky, putting

:24:51. > :24:58.the pressure back on to Ed Ling. They shoot from the centre three

:24:59. > :25:06.shooting positions. They shoot in five sections of three. The shotguns

:25:07. > :25:19.are so personal. David Kostelecky 's has his taped up. That is a miss. A

:25:20. > :25:29.flag has gone up. The scoreboard temporary hazard as very it but it

:25:30. > :25:38.is one apiece after two shots. We have confirmation of that miss for

:25:39. > :25:44.David Kostelecky. He is in his fifth Olympics. Current world record

:25:45. > :25:55.holder with much experience. To apiece after the first three. These

:25:56. > :26:07.guys start shooting from a very early age, part of their DNA. Took a

:26:08. > :26:22.piece out of the target, peace is enough. A good start. That was a

:26:23. > :26:31.tricky one. He did very well to track that one. Kostelecky misses.

:26:32. > :26:45.That will give Ed Ling the edge here. A lot of shots to go. Just

:26:46. > :26:55.clouding over a little bit. A bit of breeze around. Nothing too terrible.

:26:56. > :27:05.You can hear in the background the British contingent. Peter Wilson put

:27:06. > :27:17.the Brits on the map shooting wise at London in double trap. Can Edward

:27:18. > :27:37.Ling comeback with a medal as well? He is just ahead? Here we go again.

:27:38. > :27:48.No chance to switch off for these athletes. Is that another miss? It

:27:49. > :27:59.is. It is three now for Kostelecky. It looks better for Ed Ling. Just

:28:00. > :28:12.one miss so far for the man from Taunton. If he carries on like that

:28:13. > :28:24.he might be taking home the bronze. No target. Kostelecky is under a bit

:28:25. > :28:35.of pressure. Just a bit more added to him. The gold medal in Beijing

:28:36. > :28:47.and a semifinal place in Sydney, only 14th in London no. -- though.

:28:48. > :28:57.The Ed Ling it is his third Olympics but his first semifinal and his

:28:58. > :29:08.first medal shoot off as well. He has been in great form and feeling

:29:09. > :29:18.pretty confident. That was a nasty rising one to the right. That is

:29:19. > :29:28.miss number four for Kostelecky. A three shot cushion for Ed Ling. Just

:29:29. > :29:39.six targets left in this bronze medal match. Clouding over. A bit of

:29:40. > :29:51.breeze but nothing too terrible. He needs to keep his concentration.

:29:52. > :30:02.That is better from Kostelecky. If he can keep going, Ed Ling may have

:30:03. > :30:16.this wrapped up with several shots to go. That is a miss. Ed Ling is

:30:17. > :30:27.ahead by a couple if Kostelecky hit this one. No penalty for the athlete

:30:28. > :30:39.with a known target, of course. He does nail that one, a tricky one out

:30:40. > :30:51.to the right. Ed Ling is looking really good.

:30:52. > :31:00.Kostelecky doing what he can to keep the pressure on. There are three

:31:01. > :31:06.shots to go and the gap is two, 10-8 with Ed Ling in the lead in this

:31:07. > :31:14.bronze medal match. If he can just keep his calm, the bronze is his.

:31:15. > :31:22.Gold medallist from Beijing under pressure, especially with Ling

:31:23. > :31:34.shooting first. Edging towards that bronze medal. Kostelecky had to take

:31:35. > :31:47.this one. And he does. Two the gap, two to shoot. Ling can wrap up the

:31:48. > :31:56.bronze... If he takes this. And he does! He is not going to show too

:31:57. > :32:00.much emotion until the end of the competition but that is the bronze

:32:01. > :32:07.medal wrapped up for Ed Ling of Great Britain. You have to show a

:32:08. > :32:12.little bit of consideration to your opponent. He knows the game is up

:32:13. > :32:19.and that was a bit of a careless shot from Kostelecky but these last

:32:20. > :32:28.shots our academic now. Can Ed Ling finished off in style? He can! 13

:32:29. > :32:32.out of 15. Now he can relax. The celebrations will not start until

:32:33. > :32:42.the last shot has been got away by Kostelecky. He has to weight, no

:32:43. > :32:46.shot called by the referee. He misses the last one, it is

:32:47. > :32:51.comfortable for Ed Ling of Great Britain, the man from Taunton takes

:32:52. > :33:00.the bronze medal here in Rio in the trap competition. He is absolutely

:33:01. > :33:06.delighted and his dad, Steve, who is his personal coach and has been sent

:33:07. > :33:11.a very early age, he will be delighted as well. The Junior World

:33:12. > :33:31.Championship takes the bronze medal. -- world champion.

:33:32. > :33:39.STUDIO: Brilliant stuff, congratulations to Ed Ling of Great

:33:40. > :33:44.Britain who has won Team GB's third medal of the games, bronze in the

:33:45. > :33:48.men's trap. He had a chance of going to the gold medal match but got on

:33:49. > :33:54.with his disappointment and make it through and won the bronze medal. He

:33:55. > :33:59.is a World Championship silver medallist from two years ago, he was

:34:00. > :34:03.in Rio in April when he reached the finals of the Rio World Cup but you

:34:04. > :34:08.could see his delight with a bronze medal to add to the gold and silver

:34:09. > :34:12.in the swimming pool yesterday. Ed Ling at the National shooting

:34:13. > :34:18.Centre. We are going to go back for the gold medal match in a moment.

:34:19. > :34:24.From our base here at Copacabana, we will round up some of the headlines

:34:25. > :34:25.and then go back and you will not be surprised to hear that Mr Ling makes

:34:26. > :34:36.our headlines. Team GB have their third medal of

:34:37. > :34:43.the games, you have just seen it, Ed Ling has won a bronze medal in the

:34:44. > :34:47.men's trap. Paul Drinkhall is through in the table tennis to the

:34:48. > :34:55.fourth round, the British number two beat a man ranked 40 places above

:34:56. > :34:58.him. The names we know so well, Helen Glover and Heather Stanning,

:34:59. > :35:03.have started their run for gold in the women's pair on the rowing lake

:35:04. > :35:09.and they are into the semifinals and that is now 37 races unbeaten for

:35:10. > :35:14.them. And in the muggy sevens, Great Britain's women will play Canada for

:35:15. > :35:18.a bronze medal after losing to New Zealand -- rugby sevens. New Zealand

:35:19. > :35:22.will take on favourites Australia in the gold medal match. A reminder of

:35:23. > :35:32.what else you can watch across our coverage. We have volleyball at the

:35:33. > :35:37.Beach Volleyball Arena. And this is what is going to be happening on BBC

:35:38. > :35:44.Four. You have missed that already, don't panic! On BBC One there is a

:35:45. > :35:49.bit more of the shooting, we have volleyball coming up, canoeing on

:35:50. > :35:54.the website and one of the good things about the BBC sport at, you

:35:55. > :35:59.can find the schedule of every day, what is on and it will tell you the

:36:00. > :36:05.various different streams and you can access up to 24 live streams. If

:36:06. > :36:10.we are not showing what you want to watch, a lot of you have got in

:36:11. > :36:14.contact, asking about handball and things, we cannot fit in everything

:36:15. > :36:19.but you can access everything available every day on the BBC sport

:36:20. > :36:24.app and website. Here, as promised, we are returning to the shooting for

:36:25. > :36:26.the old medal match after Ed Ling won the bronze. We will rejoin

:36:27. > :36:39.Richard Drew. A good start from both of these

:36:40. > :36:46.athletes. The mountains in the background, not necessarily helpful.

:36:47. > :36:57.They are pretty bright targets. There is a wall as well to keep away

:36:58. > :37:09.traffic noise. There is a road that runs below the venue. Both of these

:37:10. > :37:13.athletes seem pretty zoned in. Italy, in the last four Olympics,

:37:14. > :37:25.have claimed a medal in each one, three silvers and one bronze. Eight

:37:26. > :37:29.medals in the men's trap for Italy, equalling the United States. A lot

:37:30. > :37:35.of medals but no gold recently. Can it change here? Both of these

:37:36. > :37:36.athletes are shooting well. The first three away, nothing between

:37:37. > :37:51.them. The wind is just getting up a little

:37:52. > :37:56.bit. You can see the number on the back of Pellielo just picking up in

:37:57. > :38:03.the breeze. That can make things a bit more difficult. What they don't

:38:04. > :38:09.like is the wind rushing shots down or making them unpredictable. It is

:38:10. > :38:20.still pretty warm for what is winter here in Rio de Janeiro. Perfect

:38:21. > :38:22.conditions really. We had the World Cup test event in April and it was

:38:23. > :38:45.nudging 40 degrees. Five apiece. A lot more assured than

:38:46. > :38:57.the bronze medal match. Kostelecky had missed two by this stage.

:38:58. > :39:11.That's one to the left nailed by the Italian. And that is a first miss

:39:12. > :39:18.from Glasnovic. The man who likes to play billiards and table tennis in

:39:19. > :39:24.his spare time. That just gives Pellielo the smallest of advantages.

:39:25. > :39:39.6-5, six out of 15 shots taken. The wind is definitely getting up

:39:40. > :39:52.here. You can see the trees bending a little bit and a miss from the

:39:53. > :40:01.Italian this time. Glasnovic keeps things level at 6-6.

:40:02. > :40:12.Very lively crowd, which is good, nice atmosphere but Pellielo will

:40:13. > :40:17.try to block all of that out but another miss, two in a row for the

:40:18. > :40:25.Italian and this is a major wobble. And Glasnovic is ahead. The

:40:26. > :40:33.Croatians in the crowd are starting to sense gold here but there is a

:40:34. > :40:41.long time to go. We are about to head into the second half of these

:40:42. > :40:52.shots. That's better. Pellielo will have to put those two misses out of

:40:53. > :41:03.his mind and Glasnovic will just reset as well. Straight down the

:41:04. > :41:07.centre. Nicely done by the Croatian. You would think those are the easier

:41:08. > :41:15.ones but a lot of the athletes preferred the shots that go left or

:41:16. > :41:41.right. 7-8 and Glasnovic has just edged ahead here.

:41:42. > :41:50.Both men back into their best form, just one miss from Glasnovic and

:41:51. > :41:52.that is the first Miss the competition for him after a perfect

:41:53. > :42:07.15 in the semifinals. -- first miss. Glasnovic only missing five in

:42:08. > :42:16.qualification so that is a lot of hits. He just took a nibble out of

:42:17. > :42:20.that one. It only takes two or three pellets from the cartridges and that

:42:21. > :42:24.is why the cartridges are very carefully weighed to make sure there

:42:25. > :42:33.is the right amount of pellets in each one. It is a sport that goes

:42:34. > :42:41.back all the way to the middle of the 18th century in England.

:42:42. > :42:53.But it is an Italian and a Croatian who are vying for the gold medal

:42:54. > :43:02.here. Three more shots to go, it is in Glasnovic's hands as he is one

:43:03. > :43:10.shot ahead. 11-10, three to go. It would be cruel in the extreme on

:43:11. > :43:15.Pellielo, 46 years of age, his last Olympics, two silvers and one

:43:16. > :43:21.bronze. Will it be weighing on his mind or can he put it all away,

:43:22. > :43:28.shoot three and hope for the best? Not much the coaches can do.

:43:29. > :43:39.Nicely done. There was just that moment in the middle of the match

:43:40. > :43:46.that cost Pellielo but there is the miss! We are level again at 11-11

:43:47. > :43:54.with two shots to go. This could go into a shoot off. A look at the

:43:55. > :44:05.concentration on Giovanni Pellielo's face. He has been shooting since

:44:06. > :44:14.seven. This, if he could get the gold, would surely be the zenith. He

:44:15. > :44:19.is keeping going and so is Glasnovic. One more shot, and if

:44:20. > :44:20.they both hit, we go to a sudden-death shoot off for the gold

:44:21. > :44:39.medal. So much pressure on these shooters.

:44:40. > :44:43.He has nailed that one! And it is Glasnovic who has to take this to

:44:44. > :44:54.take it to eight sudden-death shoot off and he does! 13-13. We go to a

:44:55. > :45:03.shoot off. What drama here at the Olympic Shooting Centre. They will

:45:04. > :45:04.just take a moment and get some more cartridges but more importantly,

:45:05. > :45:34.take a moment to reset. What a final we are having here.

:45:35. > :45:40.They need more time than the double trap athletes. They have the

:45:41. > :45:43.double-barrelled there because they can shoot twice in qualification of

:45:44. > :45:45.the target. double-barrelled there because they

:45:46. > :46:03.can shoot twice So, we go to shoot off in the

:46:04. > :46:11.gold-medal match. This is the men's trap competition at the Deodoro army

:46:12. > :46:27.base. Several Olympic sports are based here. Wrap the north of Rio.

:46:28. > :46:35.Giovanni Pellielo up against Josip Glasnovic. Italy against Croatia.

:46:36. > :46:44.Will this be a short affair or will it go on? Sudden death, of course.

:46:45. > :47:08.Giovanni Pellielo takes the pressure first and now he'd sit on. These can

:47:09. > :47:22.be long affairs. The European Games when 230 and there was another that

:47:23. > :47:31.went 50 recently but they are not normally that long. Giovanni

:47:32. > :47:43.Pellielo is looking at his best, just those two misses in the middle

:47:44. > :47:56.of the gold-medal match. I don't know what was going on there but he

:47:57. > :48:10.has reset. These guys are going toe to toe. Two each in this shoot. That

:48:11. > :48:22.was a nasty one to deal with. This man had a very good semifinal, of

:48:23. > :48:34.course. He was fifth in Beijing and obviously guaranteed to do better

:48:35. > :48:44.here. Who will take the gold? These guns are very individual to the

:48:45. > :48:55.athletes and that is a miss. So, Josip Glasnovic needs to take this

:48:56. > :49:05.one to take the gold. He has done it! Gold for Josip Glasnovic. His

:49:06. > :49:16.second Olympic Games. He was fifth in Beijing. The first -- a perfect

:49:17. > :49:24.record in the semifinal and he has taken the gold here in Rio.

:49:25. > :49:33.Amazing scenes from the National shooting Centre. A jubilant Josip

:49:34. > :49:42.Glasnovic takes the gold. He had a perfect 15/15 in the semifinal and

:49:43. > :49:50.decent in the final as well. Giovanni Pellielo takes these silver

:49:51. > :50:03.and Ed Ling from Great Britain won the bronze, we saw that about 20

:50:04. > :50:15.minutes ago. He was 25th in 2004, 20 first in 2012, but Ed Ling has won

:50:16. > :50:26.the bronze. There he is celebrating with Josip Glasnovic who took the

:50:27. > :50:40.gold. A third medal of the Games for Team GB. Croatia take the gold. This

:50:41. > :50:51.is what is coming up in the next few minutes and hours on BBC Four. We

:50:52. > :50:59.will be live with the men's team final on the gymnastics shortly.

:51:00. > :51:11.There is a helicopter overhead. Tom Daley is in action in the diving and

:51:12. > :51:23.that is live on BBC One. Gymnastics on BBC Four and diving on BBC One.

:51:24. > :51:30.Live hockey later. Team GB take on India. Lawrence Okolie was very

:51:31. > :51:40.impressive in the boxing a few nights ago. We have Antony Fowler

:51:41. > :51:50.and also Joss Kelly coming up. Beach volleyball is on the Red Button.

:51:51. > :52:00.Also on the website is canoeing. Heather Watson was in the deciding

:52:01. > :52:11.set in the tennis against the 15th seed from the Ukraine. We left it

:52:12. > :52:21.when it was 1-1. Heather Watson is 5-2 down in the decider. Simon Reed

:52:22. > :52:26.picks up the commentary. Watson is serving to stay in the match. A

:52:27. > :52:54.great start. Two of the best back-to-back points

:52:55. > :53:06.she has played in this third set. It is not too late. There is still a

:53:07. > :53:14.chance if she can keep that form going.

:53:15. > :53:19.cartridges but more importantly, take a moment to reset.

:53:20. > :55:12.Great return from Svitolina. The serve wasn't shabby.

:55:13. > :55:24.That was super from Heather Watson. The woman who won that game was

:55:25. > :55:30.almost unrecognisable from the one that lost the previous two. It is

:55:31. > :55:59.that kind of form she has is to maintain for the rest of this match.

:56:00. > :56:11.That was long. No Hawk-Eye available on this court that she would know

:56:12. > :57:15.that was out. Yes, really solid hitting from

:57:16. > :58:00.Svitolina and the number 15 seed has three match points.

:58:01. > :58:13.What I way to finish! And didn't she finish the match well? Heather

:58:14. > :58:19.Watson, terrific in the second set, and for a large portion of the

:58:20. > :58:24.third, but one sloppy service game made the difference and Svitolina,

:58:25. > :58:28.who looked mentally a little out of it at the end of the second set, has

:58:29. > :58:31.come back in storming style and she makes it through to the third round.

:58:32. > :58:39.6-3 in the third. This abominable Heather Watson who

:58:40. > :58:45.goes out of the singles. We're not sure if she will be back for the

:58:46. > :58:53.Mixed Doubles -- disappointment for Heather Watson. Tomorrow, Team GB

:58:54. > :59:00.will decide if it will be Heather Watson or Johanna Konta alongside

:59:01. > :59:10.one of the Marie Brothers in the doubles -- Murray. Over on BBC One

:59:11. > :59:13.right now, Tom Daley is in action in the diving but we are concentrating

:59:14. > :59:20.on the men's team final in the gymnastics. Can the boys who won a

:59:21. > :59:24.World Championship silver get a medal here? Beth Tweddle is

:59:25. > :59:36.alongside a very excited Matt Baker! Can they do it? It is a very good

:59:37. > :59:40.question. We're talking about five teams. All the gymnasts have just

:59:41. > :59:45.come out so it is difficult to hear people. Brazil are amongst so you

:59:46. > :59:49.can imagine the impact that that is having on this crowd. We're talking

:59:50. > :59:53.about the current Olympic champions in China who are just being

:59:54. > :59:58.introduced to the crowd. We also have the Japanese gymnasts who are

:59:59. > :00:04.current champions. We have Great Britain who took the silver at the

:00:05. > :00:10.World Championships as well. And the USA. Really, we didn't expect these

:00:11. > :00:13.teams to be as powerful as they are here in qualification. When we came

:00:14. > :00:17.into qualification menu that Russia had upped their game earlier this

:00:18. > :00:22.year when they took the European title. -- we knew that Russia. But

:00:23. > :00:27.America were flying high. They performed brilliantly in the

:00:28. > :00:33.qualification. Japan had quite a few mistakes. They will be looking to

:00:34. > :00:36.improve on that. Britain, we had a couple of mistakes. Lots of mistakes

:00:37. > :00:41.throughout the whole teams. It will be interesting to see how they

:00:42. > :00:46.regroup and get back out today. This is a very interesting format as far

:00:47. > :00:50.as competitions go. It's known as being brutal because basically how

:00:51. > :00:55.it works, you can see all these gymnasts being introduced. Each

:00:56. > :01:01.country gets a team of five. The country then select three gymnasts

:01:02. > :01:04.to compete on each piece of apparatus. It gets tough because

:01:05. > :01:10.every single spore count. Full or not, it goes to the team total. Then

:01:11. > :01:16.the country with the biggest score wins. -- every single score counts.

:01:17. > :01:19.It is precious because the teams have been working so hard to gather

:01:20. > :01:24.in their training camps. They don't want to let each other down. When

:01:25. > :01:26.they go up its not just about themselves, their not having an

:01:27. > :01:33.individual chance. They're there to do it as a team. We go fast upon the

:01:34. > :01:37.rings and we won't be using Lewis and Christian. It's the younger end

:01:38. > :01:41.of the team that will get this competition up and running.

:01:42. > :01:47.Obviously, the two more experienced gymnasts will sit back and let those

:01:48. > :01:53.youngsters get it underway. The rings of our weakest piece so be

:01:54. > :01:56.prepared to see Great Britain way down the ranks. The name will be

:01:57. > :02:01.chasing through the competition. I think it's sad to say one of the key

:02:02. > :02:09.pieces of apparatus for Great Britain is Bolt which is the second

:02:10. > :02:18.piece of apparatus. -- is the -- is the vault. We have got three huge

:02:19. > :02:22.vaults from our boys but with the difficulty comes the risk. We saw

:02:23. > :02:26.Christian in qualification, he put his hands down. We saw Max have a

:02:27. > :02:31.fall as well. Hopefully they've been able to sort that out in training.

:02:32. > :02:36.We know Christian can do it. He was one of the big vaulters in London

:02:37. > :02:45.2012. He absolutely nailed that vault and that is one of the reasons

:02:46. > :02:49.we won that team run. Max Whitlock being introduced there. What a story

:02:50. > :02:54.from Britain. Its renowned, how competitive it is to get a place on

:02:55. > :02:59.this British team. Kristian Thomas has been a part of it for many, many

:03:00. > :03:04.years and Louis Smith will be finishing up on pommel horse for

:03:05. > :03:08.Great Britain. He has had a lot of upset in his life, he lost his dad a

:03:09. > :03:13.few years ago and he made his Derby promise that he would try to get the

:03:14. > :03:20.Olympics. What a story in itself. And then in November, just November

:03:21. > :03:24.gone, he broke his leg on vault. Somehow he is here. He had a tough

:03:25. > :03:28.time. He was part of that silver medal winning team in the World

:03:29. > :03:32.Championships. A couple of weeks later he had a horrendous injury. It

:03:33. > :03:37.just shows the strength of character. He is only 19 years old

:03:38. > :03:44.but sooner that injury appeared he was like, in the back of his mind, I

:03:45. > :03:47.have got to get fit. The British Gymnastics medical team were

:03:48. > :03:54.unbelievable. They did everything they could to help him recover and a

:03:55. > :03:59.lot of credit goes to him and planning that recovery to help them

:04:00. > :04:02.get here. I don't know if you could hear us talking over that, Brazil

:04:03. > :04:08.were being introduced to the crowd. The good news is that they are

:04:09. > :04:12.actually going round with Brazil -- that great Britain are going round

:04:13. > :04:16.with Brazil. There is nothing worse than being in the middle of an

:04:17. > :04:20.intricate routine and the Brazilian crowd erupting for Brazil. The

:04:21. > :04:23.Ukraine team here were in with a real battle back in London 2012 for

:04:24. > :04:31.the third spot. They will be fair pace a little bit because they are

:04:32. > :04:37.resting their most impressive all-round gymnasts. He will be saved

:04:38. > :04:42.until later. Expect Ukraine to be a little bit further down, as with

:04:43. > :04:48.Germany as well. They are eighth in qualification and they finished

:04:49. > :04:57.seventh in London. A big part of the team there. You remember, you've

:04:58. > :05:03.been on the circuit for many years alongside Fabi in and he is back. He

:05:04. > :05:07.was at my first Olympics back in 2004. The German team are

:05:08. > :05:15.struggling, they picked up an injury to one of their qualifications. They

:05:16. > :05:19.do not have the extra option of a fifth gymnast. The poor guy that is

:05:20. > :05:22.out, they just introduced him. Andreas of having to sit on the

:05:23. > :05:26.sidelines and be the chief cheerleader. He was one of the

:05:27. > :05:31.stronger ones on the likes of the pommel horse. The gymnasts will now

:05:32. > :05:36.get a three minute warm up. As you can see, the countries are going

:05:37. > :05:40.round in pairs. All three will be first of all. Then they'll be a

:05:41. > :05:45.little bit of a warm up as well. The next country that they're paired

:05:46. > :05:49.with go again. So, China will be starting on floor. You've got Russia

:05:50. > :05:55.starting on pommel horse. Great Britain starting on rings and

:05:56. > :05:58.Ukraine on vault. I don't how many times we've had this conversation

:05:59. > :06:05.but where will we go with this? Where did we put our money? It could

:06:06. > :06:09.go anywhere. That's what's great about gymnastics, it will go down to

:06:10. > :06:14.the final routine. There are five teams vouching for those spots.

:06:15. > :06:17.Normally you would say China and Japan are battling it out for number

:06:18. > :06:21.one and number two, but I don't think that will be the case today

:06:22. > :06:24.unless they are begging for qualification. You mentioned

:06:25. > :06:30.earlier, don't be too alarmed and Great Britain are further down the

:06:31. > :06:35.ranks. We are starting on rings which are one of our weaker pieces.

:06:36. > :06:41.High bar, floor and pommel horse are our big scorers. We have one of the

:06:42. > :06:47.finest gymnasts to ever have lived, but he has looked a little bit shaky

:06:48. > :06:51.in the Japanese team. It means so much for him to try and get this

:06:52. > :06:56.team title, really it is the only thing he doesn't have in his medal

:06:57. > :07:01.collection. We saw how much it meant to him when Japan when the team

:07:02. > :07:04.title. It's not just about him, it's about the whole team. They train day

:07:05. > :07:11.in and day out and are desperate to win this title and take it away from

:07:12. > :07:15.China. China do look like they mean business as far as qualification is

:07:16. > :07:19.concerned. There is the gymnasts read talking about. Like Louis

:07:20. > :07:20.Smith, his hair has been talked about quite considerably because it

:07:21. > :07:36.used to be longer. China are about to start on floor.

:07:37. > :07:41.You will be able to see the all-round final in a few days' time.

:07:42. > :07:47.A lot will be on his mind because he stumbled in qualification for China,

:07:48. > :07:51.but they need a very strong start so here is Lin Chaopan, the first

:07:52. > :07:59.gymnast in this men's team final at the Olympics in Rio. Over to our

:08:00. > :08:03.commentary team. COMMENTATOR: and a very clean

:08:04. > :08:07.opening series. Two beautifully flighted twisting

:08:08. > :08:19.moves. Very good, three and a half twists. Every move the gymnast has a

:08:20. > :08:26.value. They all add up to gather. That's a very big value. Double

:08:27. > :08:34.twisting, double tuck somersault. That is two somersaults and two

:08:35. > :08:38.twists. That is super, a full twisting front somersault. An

:08:39. > :08:46.immediate punch into two and a half. The second punch was higher than the

:08:47. > :08:55.first. The best moves, the top moves are added to gather. Very clean on

:08:56. > :09:01.that roll-out to DVD difficulty score. Then there is ten marks for

:09:02. > :09:06.execution if he takes a step, he loses from that. -- to give you the

:09:07. > :09:11.difficulty score. That was a good clean opening for China. The coaches

:09:12. > :09:17.look happy. You'd be happy with that, would you not as an opening

:09:18. > :09:22.routine, Dan? Yes, it was clean with no major errors. That's all you want

:09:23. > :09:30.for your first guy to give the team confidence.

:09:31. > :09:37.See him beautifully spot the flaw as he finishes those twists. That way

:09:38. > :09:43.he knows just where he's going to be landing. His head stays in during

:09:44. > :09:48.the twisting. Three and a half twists. Almost becoming like

:09:49. > :10:00.trampolining, they're able to cram in so much difficulty. Two

:10:01. > :10:06.somersaults with two twists. I really liked that tumble, Dan. For

:10:07. > :10:11.me, if he could make the second higher than the first, that is

:10:12. > :10:18.pretty impressive. It makes it easier to land and spot the flaw as

:10:19. > :10:25.well. It's so you can reduce the amount of deductions you get from

:10:26. > :10:34.the judges. A decent start. We will wait for his score.

:10:35. > :10:45.Lin Chaopan, 14.833. You will notice that a number of scores picked up,

:10:46. > :10:49.difficulty and execution. Gymnasts can build their score by doing

:10:50. > :10:55.harder routines. Keep your eye on the difficulty score. That is added

:10:56. > :11:02.to the execution. The harder the routine, the bigger the score.

:11:03. > :11:05.Providing you can do it! The first of the three Chinese gymnasts

:11:06. > :11:23.complete. STUDIO: over to Ukraine on vault. On

:11:24. > :11:28.average, this score of 14.966. A powerful gymnast, 23 years old. A

:11:29. > :11:34.current Olympic bronze medallist on vault. Also on the vault final as

:11:35. > :11:39.well. If you want the definition of power then brace yourself for this.

:11:40. > :11:45.This lad thunders down the runway. You are looking for where the hands

:11:46. > :11:51.hit the table to launch them up into the sky.

:11:52. > :11:57.COMMENTATOR: he will have told them what vault he's doing. As this pans

:11:58. > :12:03.away you will see a scoreboard. A six means he is doing a vault worth

:12:04. > :12:08.six. He didn't give much away on that, did he? He's got ten execution

:12:09. > :12:13.marks. If the judges could see a fault, they take the marks away from

:12:14. > :12:22.that ten. But I think that execution score will be well into the nines.

:12:23. > :12:27.That even took him by surprise. That has got us off to a flying start,

:12:28. > :12:34.quite literally. Dan, watch this block. You get so much height of the

:12:35. > :12:39.top of the vault table. It gives him so much time to spot the landing

:12:40. > :12:44.which is why he sticks it. He stuck it in qualification. I have heard

:12:45. > :12:50.that in the final he might even do a harder vault but no one has done

:12:51. > :12:58.before. The idea is to get as straight down the line. Look at the

:12:59. > :13:07.execution score. Actually, let's look at Nile Wilson instead. Nile is

:13:08. > :13:16.competing on four pieces of apparatus today for Great Britain.

:13:17. > :13:20.Come on, Nile. Rings have been a piece of apparatus that hasn't been

:13:21. > :13:24.quite so strong for Great Britain. These younger gymnasts coming

:13:25. > :13:29.through are really powerful, have worked very hard to improve these

:13:30. > :13:33.pieces of apparatus. You can see the strength there, very good. His

:13:34. > :13:41.shoulders write-down in line with his hands. You want a straight line

:13:42. > :13:46.when you have a strength move. Double French somersault in the pike

:13:47. > :13:54.and tuck position. You have to finish in a strength hold. -- double

:13:55. > :13:59.front somersault. Another crucifix. All these strength elements have to

:14:00. > :14:07.be held for two. Good control in the hands stand. Swings again. You have

:14:08. > :14:14.two kill that swing at the top. Now he needs a dismount. That is a

:14:15. > :14:24.beautiful dismount with double twist. A very pleasing routine. A

:14:25. > :14:28.superb start for Nile Wilson. I can update you as well with a Max

:14:29. > :14:36.Whitlock, the second British gymnast to go. He scored 14.5. Let's join

:14:37. > :14:43.Russia, the third gymnast to go for Russia on pommel horse. A nice start

:14:44. > :14:54.with the scissors to hands stand. An unusual one arm 360 there. Good form

:14:55. > :15:00.so far, keeping his legs locked to gather as he travels across the

:15:01. > :15:11.horse. Up onto the one handle, a special requirement. Now to the end

:15:12. > :15:16.of his routine, he's travelling along the horse and backwards. Up

:15:17. > :15:20.into the dismount. That was a great routine and his team-mates will be

:15:21. > :15:22.really happy with that. That is why he is the current European silver

:15:23. > :15:36.medallist. Russia going good. you have this format or just three

:15:37. > :15:41.competitors up, it goes very quickly. He is a very stylish

:15:42. > :15:47.gymnast. He keeps his hips up nice and high. When you brush the handles

:15:48. > :15:52.all be horse, the judges take marks of view. As a matter was seeing,

:15:53. > :15:54.keep your eyes on the screen, you will see the two sets, the three

:15:55. > :16:23.marks. Very nicely done. So far, so good. Happy? Really

:16:24. > :16:29.happy, we have got off to a clean start. We managed to get 15.1 from

:16:30. > :16:37.Nile Wilson. It had been a weak point. 15.5 for the Russian. That

:16:38. > :16:40.was a big score. Very big score. It is a specialist score. That is a

:16:41. > :17:06.huge. They will have to take a break

:17:07. > :17:10.whilst the country they are partnered with compete with the

:17:11. > :17:17.three. That is the score for Great Britain. That'll do nicely. Louis

:17:18. > :17:22.Smith has a long wait, he is only competing on the pommel horse, the

:17:23. > :17:26.last part of apparatus for Great Britain and very important. We have

:17:27. > :17:36.a two highest scoring people on that apparatus. The scores will be vital.

:17:37. > :17:42.It might push is right up the rankings. The USA are warming up,

:17:43. > :17:47.they get three minutes to warm up on each piece of apparatus. Japan are

:17:48. > :17:53.warming up on the pommel horse as well. Everyone just adjusting the

:17:54. > :17:59.kit to their liking. You can move the handles in and out on the pommel

:18:00. > :18:12.horse. Brazil are on the ravens. They are the current champion --

:18:13. > :18:22.they have the current champion on the team in Arthur Zanetti. That is

:18:23. > :18:26.the painted man on the Germany team. Kohei Uchimura gets the bed of Japan

:18:27. > :18:49.and swinging. Solid start, onto the one handle.

:18:50. > :19:03.Nice combination. Across the horse and into the wood.

:19:04. > :19:13.It was basic but it was clean. He majored with the desperate, after

:19:14. > :19:17.what happened in London, it was the district of Uchimura that big Great

:19:18. > :19:21.Britain batting second. We were on tenterhooks. It finished with Japan

:19:22. > :19:32.getting the silver. They are looking good right now. That Gold Medal is

:19:33. > :19:37.something that has eluded Uchimura. He has won everything as an

:19:38. > :19:41.individual. The Olympic team title is the one that he really wants. He

:19:42. > :19:49.will be going all out to lead his team to that. They qualified down in

:19:50. > :19:56.fourth place and were out of the medals in qualification. It is going

:19:57. > :19:59.to be very tough fight for them. They do not have the biggest

:20:00. > :20:08.difficulties so they will have to be really perfect on the execution.

:20:09. > :20:14.This is the ethos of Uchimura. He is aiming for perfection all the time.

:20:15. > :20:18.Because he has done so much in his career, he will have to find a new

:20:19. > :20:27.challenge to keep them interested. 6.2 difficulty. That was only 8.9 on

:20:28. > :20:32.execution. He aims to have a score of nine all the time. Definitely. He

:20:33. > :20:36.wants to have a new challenge and is aiming for the perfect ten. That is

:20:37. > :20:42.what he is looking for on every part of apparatus. China have already

:20:43. > :20:56.been on the high-scoring floor. We are waiting for the USA.

:20:57. > :21:05.Alexander Naddour, Samuel Mikulak and Jacob Dalton where the Tigers

:21:06. > :21:19.qualifiers. He is protecting his tricep, prevention is better than

:21:20. > :21:21.cure, Dan. LAUGHTER. They loll in competition, from the British

:21:22. > :21:30.perspective, what will be going through their minds? You need to

:21:31. > :21:35.give it everything. You need not it at the same time. You can easily

:21:36. > :21:40.give it too much, put your hands down and lose the entire mark. That

:21:41. > :21:53.can be really detrimental to your competition.

:21:54. > :22:02.We were Fabian Hambuchen. This is his fourth Olympic Games. Vastly

:22:03. > :22:11.experienced. Let us in how handy he is. Beautiful 2.5 twist. Things have

:22:12. > :22:18.moved on a lot in those ten years. He is still very much doing similar

:22:19. > :22:26.work. The top gymnast will be pushing that score all the way. It

:22:27. > :22:41.is Sam McCormac to the floor. He is the second gymnast ago.

:22:42. > :22:52.That will not be the highest court because he landed with both tours

:22:53. > :23:03.out of the floor. And again. Really classy gymnast. Beautiful extension,

:23:04. > :23:10.right through the feet. It is quite a noisy crowd but he is used to

:23:11. > :23:16.that, the American gymnast. That was better, more settled in that

:23:17. > :23:21.twisting combination. Ebony tumbled you aim land without any steps. If

:23:22. > :23:28.you take steps, the judges get the pencils out and tart -- start taking

:23:29. > :23:33.deductions. That was a one and three quarters somersault. You are allowed

:23:34. > :23:39.to do one of those in a routine. Wants to be precise on this pig

:23:40. > :23:44.finishing tumbled. He is. That is how you land. Triple twist to meet

:23:45. > :23:47.the floor perfectly. He is clapping his hands together and try to keep

:23:48. > :23:50.the team spirit going but that was a big problem for him, landing in the

:23:51. > :23:59.way that he did on the first tumbled. He is going to lose lots of

:24:00. > :24:07.deductions. Both Peter wear out. He will have 0.3 deduction. He has not

:24:08. > :24:15.had any major errors which is what he will be happy about.

:24:16. > :24:29.Things are not going great for the moment. It is a shaky start. --

:24:30. > :24:35.great for the USA. This is Arthur Zanetti performing in fraud of his

:24:36. > :24:44.home crowd. You can imagine lots of excitement and lots of strength.

:24:45. > :24:49.Superpower. Getting lots of marks for linking the different strength

:24:50. > :24:54.elements together. His swinging is pretty good. The co-speed are, in

:24:55. > :25:08.line with his hips. Absolutely superb. Huge strength required. The

:25:09. > :25:11.plant into a crucifix. And then to the swinging elements, the

:25:12. > :25:19.somersaults will stop how about that? Somersault into crucifix, his

:25:20. > :25:27.hands straight in. He is finding it easy. Swinging backwards and

:25:28. > :25:34.forwards into handstand, he has the full that requirement. The big

:25:35. > :25:44.despite. It was a jump on Monday. It was appreciated by the home crowd.

:25:45. > :25:54.Arthur Zanetti has been such a big part of the Olympics here. The

:25:55. > :25:58.Olympic torch went off on his travels and arrived here after

:25:59. > :26:01.Arthur Zanetti helped to light it. That was a low score for the

:26:02. > :26:09.American. Jacob Dalton has it all to do. He was the second-highest

:26:10. > :26:13.qualifier. Another powerful gymnast. Can he contain all of his power and

:26:14. > :26:18.stay within this area? Double straight somersault with the half

:26:19. > :26:26.turn. He made it look easy. Another forward landing. Have to into a

:26:27. > :26:37.double front. Huge difficulty. Very nice control.

:26:38. > :26:47.Gymnasts have to display balance as well as dynamic tumbling. It was a

:26:48. > :26:59.good handstand. Really beautifully landed. That combination of doubles.

:27:00. > :27:04.One and three quarters somersault. You have to roll out smoothly along

:27:05. > :27:09.your back. This will be his final tumbled. He has to finish with a

:27:10. > :27:16.difficult tumble and he does with a triple twist. Much better

:27:17. > :27:19.performance than his team-mate. That was absolutely beautiful.

:27:20. > :27:26.Mesmerising to watch. That is why he is the second-highest qualifier. The

:27:27. > :27:34.USA really needed that picked me up going into the pommel horse. He

:27:35. > :27:38.performed well. Interestingly scored 15.8 in qualification and just a

:27:39. > :27:46.14.8 here. One markdown and they will be feeling it. The score for

:27:47. > :27:52.Brazil helped by the current Olympic rings champion, Arthur Zanetti. Let

:27:53. > :27:58.us look at this. He is landing that blindly. It is difficult to spot.

:27:59. > :28:03.That is what is so hard about that. You are relying on your spatial

:28:04. > :28:10.awareness. How many times he must've done that in training to be able to

:28:11. > :28:13.find that. Lots of gymnasts have been having problems with the floor

:28:14. > :28:18.here. They are starting to get a feel for it. Usually when there's a

:28:19. > :28:25.new floor and can be a little bit more solid. After qualification, it

:28:26. > :28:29.has broken a little bit and you are seeing some better floor routines.

:28:30. > :28:40.This is a chance to see Max Whitlock on the rings. He was second behind

:28:41. > :28:47.Brinn Bevan. Although he's not a hugely strong gymnast, he has a

:28:48. > :28:54.light frame. He is able to control his body. Very smoothly into the

:28:55. > :28:59.handstand, into the difficult back somersault combination. Has to

:29:00. > :29:05.control it and fight at the top. Forwards as well. Two forward

:29:06. > :29:10.somersault. There was some movement in the rings. He has to get them

:29:11. > :29:15.still, lock-out at the top of the handstand and he does that fine.

:29:16. > :29:20.Another swinging combination. He has really improved his difficulty

:29:21. > :29:26.maximum on this piece. Lovely double twisting double truck dismount. Good

:29:27. > :29:30.start. What a dismount. To be able to generate that speed and power

:29:31. > :29:38.after the strength snapping routine like that. You'll get to the end of

:29:39. > :29:41.your routine, using all your energy for the strength homes and when they

:29:42. > :29:51.get to the dismount, you have to give it up with more. That is the

:29:52. > :29:56.double somersault forwards between the rings. Into the straddle, great

:29:57. > :30:05.to be able to control it like that. Into the dismount. Great double

:30:06. > :30:06.twisting, double back. Slight hop. Things are going well so far for

:30:07. > :30:35.Great Britain. 14.54 Max Whitlock. He must've fallen off during that

:30:36. > :30:42.routine and that was the second half. So things not going to plan

:30:43. > :30:47.for Japan. No, that's the very difficult thing. There's no room for

:30:48. > :30:52.error, no room for manoeuvre. If one of the team falls than that score

:30:53. > :30:56.hast to count. Well, this is how things look after the first piece of

:30:57. > :31:01.apparatus. Russia are ahead of Germany with Brazil in third, that

:31:02. > :31:05.will get the crowd cheering! Britain are in fourth at the moment but

:31:06. > :31:09.watch out for them, they will move up the rankings as the competition

:31:10. > :31:16.progresses. Japan are in sixth, surprisingly. Things will move

:31:17. > :31:21.around. But we didn't predict that one. We knew every single

:31:22. > :31:28.eventuality. But that was certainly not on the cards. No, it wasn't, but

:31:29. > :31:32.it just shows you it's a long way around six pieces of apparatus. Most

:31:33. > :31:38.teams will have an error along the way. Three gymnasts, six routines

:31:39. > :31:44.each, 18 routines altogether. They'll probably be an error or so.

:31:45. > :31:49.A couple of surprising ones right at the beginning. In qualification, the

:31:50. > :31:54.men from the USA looked really, really strong, didn't know, Dan? I

:31:55. > :31:59.don't think they had a single mistake, maybe just Samuel Mikulak

:32:00. > :32:03.on the pommel horse. They've qualified really high but I think

:32:04. > :32:16.they were just nervous on the floor. All eyes in the Olympic Arena are on

:32:17. > :32:22.Diego Hypolito. Diego is now 30 years old, this is his third Olympic

:32:23. > :32:29.Games. They are now onto his vault and floor work. He won his first

:32:30. > :32:34.world title 11 years ago. So long Diego Hypolito was an only gymnast

:32:35. > :32:39.for Brazil. Him and his sister. It's been a lonely time but he has

:32:40. > :32:42.managed to get a team together that can challenge for a medal. We've

:32:43. > :32:50.been very surprised by the quality of the Brazilian gymnasts. All

:32:51. > :32:55.gymnast to get one vault. It's over very quickly. It is all or nothing

:32:56. > :33:02.and over very quickly. His is a 5.60. The judges judge from verve.

:33:03. > :33:07.That was a beautiful at two and a half twists. He was a tiny bit

:33:08. > :33:13.off-line. He was inside the line but just a fraction of the centre.

:33:14. > :33:18.Danell Leyva on the pommel horse for the USA. Again another experienced

:33:19. > :33:22.gymnast. This is his second Olympics. He has a really nice swing

:33:23. > :33:33.on this piece of apparatus. Extended hips. Travelling forwards and

:33:34. > :33:43.backwards, which is a requirement. Very nice. Legs locked to gather. Up

:33:44. > :33:52.onto the handles. That's the dismount. Oh, now that wasn't meant

:33:53. > :33:55.to happen. He slipped. He will be deducted quite heavily and he will

:33:56. > :33:59.only get a low score for that dismount as well. Overall, the

:34:00. > :34:04.routine was nice but there will be quite a lot of deductions from the

:34:05. > :34:11.end. Just a reminder that the US where the highest qualifier. Kohei

:34:12. > :34:16.Uchimura for Japan with it all to do. A slight slip up from his

:34:17. > :34:22.team-mates on pommel horse. This is a very, very important piece for

:34:23. > :34:31.Japan. And another extremely light gymnast. So while able to control

:34:32. > :34:39.his body, handle his body weight. It's so difficult to hold the body

:34:40. > :34:45.straight. A lovely crucifix. He's really going for it today. You can

:34:46. > :34:52.see an extra determination of veal in his eyes. Lovely shape through

:34:53. > :35:01.the straight arms. Straight back, lifts well. Opens to another totally

:35:02. > :35:09.controlled crucifix. Swings up to the handstand. A swing into the

:35:10. > :35:16.double twist, double tuck. Absolutely upright when he landed.

:35:17. > :35:21.He's definitely after the nine plus for execution. That will more than

:35:22. > :35:27.do. He's working all six pieces of apparatus today and he follows a

:35:28. > :35:32.14.933 from his team-mate Yusuke Tanaka. Just a reminder, and Japan

:35:33. > :35:37.are in sixth place going into the second rotation. That was the

:35:38. > :35:44.back-up into the multis. The idea is to be as flat as possible so there's

:35:45. > :35:48.no deductions from the judges. The position is almost perfect. A little

:35:49. > :35:57.head flick at the end to show that he's finding this easy. Into another

:35:58. > :36:02.strength position, the crucifix. There's a double twist, double tuck

:36:03. > :36:09.with a kick out at the end. Nearly perfect, just a hop. That's the

:36:10. > :36:14.thing with Kohei Uchimura, it is the style that he manages to do it with.

:36:15. > :36:18.He tries to do everything so perfect. Sometimes it comes off as

:36:19. > :36:27.well and you just think that amazing. 14.333 four Danell Leyva

:36:28. > :36:35.and the US. There will be staying in eighth place. Kohei Uchimura, 14.8.

:36:36. > :36:51.One gymnast for them to go in this rotation, that is Koji Yamamuro.

:36:52. > :37:00.There is an Olympic working order of the pieces of apparatus designed to

:37:01. > :37:03.test the body in that way. Sometimes when you get gymnasts so vastly

:37:04. > :37:09.experienced that there used to working in one way it goes them when

:37:10. > :37:15.they start on the odd piece. Obviously, Japan are usually either

:37:16. > :37:19.one or two, they always start on floor. Starting a little bit further

:37:20. > :37:23.down will throw them a bit. They wouldn't have trained for that. But

:37:24. > :37:32.it will be interesting to see how they get on.

:37:33. > :37:39.I think he's watching his team-mate. Unfortunately, we're not. When not

:37:40. > :37:43.in control of these pictures, I should add. But it's interesting

:37:44. > :37:48.watching Kohei Uchimura watching his team-mate. The shame is that there

:37:49. > :37:57.is gymnasts working all around the arena. Four pieces are going at the

:37:58. > :38:02.moment. Current Olympic silver medallist Marcel Nguyen is just

:38:03. > :38:05.toying up the parallel bars. Two-time European champion as well.

:38:06. > :38:09.Just making sure the bars are all right. We spoke about the problems

:38:10. > :38:14.gymnasts were having with floor and we watched a few struggle with

:38:15. > :38:19.parallel bars in qualification. You tend to do the same thing with

:38:20. > :38:23.honey, sugar and golden syrup. It can make the difference if you get

:38:24. > :38:30.it slightly wrong. That is his own move. There's a high double back to

:38:31. > :38:35.catch in upper arms. Composing himself ready for his next a lot of

:38:36. > :38:40.elements. That is a special requirement, a double back from the

:38:41. > :38:45.upper arm position. Now into the under bar work. Just slightly off a

:38:46. > :38:54.handstand there, he will be deducted. Really nice double back

:38:55. > :39:04.with a kick out. He is a really good double bar worker. It's not often

:39:05. > :39:08.you see one of those, but he is renowned for that dismount. To get

:39:09. > :39:12.that twist in when you go out the side door, it's difficult to

:39:13. > :39:16.generate that speed. And obviously you have to have a lot of height. It

:39:17. > :39:21.is a fine balance and he's managed to get it perfect. I think he's the

:39:22. > :39:25.only gymnast in the world I've actually seen do it. I'm sure there

:39:26. > :39:33.must be some others, but he does it so efficiently. Is he alone, Dan?

:39:34. > :39:36.There's a couple of other gymnast do it around the world, but I think

:39:37. > :39:40.Marcel is the one that you've seen him do it for a number of years.

:39:41. > :39:46.When you think about dismount, you of him. He's the man that

:39:47. > :40:00.everybodylearned from. -- you think of him. Germany going second with a

:40:01. > :40:05.piece of apparatus. I guess they go in without any pressure, don't they?

:40:06. > :40:09.Completely relaxed. They have had an injury already and they know they're

:40:10. > :40:12.up against it. I would think under those circumstances they were highly

:40:13. > :40:17.delighted to make team final, really. One of their main

:40:18. > :40:22.all-rounders got injured and he will be a huge miss today. It's really

:40:23. > :40:31.impressive to see how they're doing. They put in a massive score of 15.5

:40:32. > :40:39.as Lucas Taos for Germany, they got a 14.25 as well. Marcel Nguyen has

:40:40. > :40:49.added to that as well. -- Lucas Taos. He is used to getting

:40:50. > :40:54.15.715.8. I think that was slightly harsh. He did miss a few handstands

:40:55. > :40:59.on some of his moves the judges have picked on that. They are the same

:41:00. > :41:04.judges for everybody. Just looking down here, it looks like the US they

:41:05. > :41:07.are having an absolute nightmare. It doesn't look like they've had any

:41:08. > :41:15.falls but they must have had some mistakes. They were poor and

:41:16. > :41:18.pummels. They were the eight best team on pommel horse in

:41:19. > :41:26.qualification. It would be the piece you would expect them to struggle

:41:27. > :41:31.with a little bit. Fair enough talking about the USA struggling on

:41:32. > :41:41.pommel horse. This is China's weakest piece. This is how old you,

:41:42. > :41:51.the first gymnast to go. -- this is how you -- You Hao. For the pommel

:41:52. > :41:55.horse you need to come up with a series of ten elements which

:41:56. > :41:59.includes a one handle elements, the scissors, a dismount which is right

:42:00. > :42:05.at the end and travelling across the horse. He might not even get that

:42:06. > :42:12.miscounted and it will be a big deduction. A shaky start from You

:42:13. > :42:20.Hao. Hopefully he settles down into this routine and finishes it off. A

:42:21. > :42:26.slight skew on his circle which again is more deductions. Finishes

:42:27. > :42:35.off with a nice dismount. He looked like he had a little hop on landing.

:42:36. > :42:39.Or a little bend of the legs of delight, but he was relatively

:42:40. > :42:45.clean. There is a fine line between us looking and being very picky and

:42:46. > :42:51.him going, I got through it! The pressure is so great when it's a

:42:52. > :43:06.343. All people working, having to count. -- three for three. There is

:43:07. > :43:10.a lot of pressure on the routine and that's what you have to learn to

:43:11. > :43:18.deal with if you want to be on that podium. I think you were right,

:43:19. > :43:22.Matt, that might have been in pain. Oh, well! This is a key piece for

:43:23. > :43:28.Great Britain. He was going for a triple twist. Do you think he was

:43:29. > :43:32.round? I think you'll get given it, I think you'll be credited. He might

:43:33. > :43:37.have a deduction for it not being completely straight, but he was on

:43:38. > :43:43.his feet. It was a great effort. A really good lift. This foot was

:43:44. > :43:47.completely round. The other foot a little to the site. I'm quite sure

:43:48. > :43:55.that they will credit that. Seven eighths of it around. He will have

:43:56. > :44:01.nominated the difficulty. There is no deduction. You can see at the

:44:02. > :44:05.back that he nominated a six vault. There's no deduction if they think

:44:06. > :44:10.it was a two and a half, they just give it out of 5.6 instead of six.

:44:11. > :44:20.That was a huge improvement on qualification. 14.966. One out of

:44:21. > :44:31.three, very good indeed. Just a reminder, three gymnasts go from

:44:32. > :44:42.every country and all scores count. 14.400 four Hao You.

:44:43. > :44:55.Over to the rings now. Denis Abliazin, former European champion.

:44:56. > :45:04.He's been in an Olympic rings final before and has qualified for this

:45:05. > :45:09.year's. The real strongman of the Russian team. Look at the body shape

:45:10. > :45:25.there. Hose to shoulders, absolutely straight. -- toes to shoulders.

:45:26. > :45:31.Really smooth. Lift the feet well. Two strength moves linked. And to

:45:32. > :45:34.another three, four. All these difficult moves added together get

:45:35. > :45:41.bonus marks and that is how the difficulty score goes up. He hasn't

:45:42. > :45:48.made many errors for the judges to deduct from execution. There is

:45:49. > :45:52.strong and smooth in that handstand. Lovely double twisting double

:45:53. > :45:57.strength, the most difficult dismount we've seen so far today.

:45:58. > :46:10.Russia are leading this men's team final at the moment.

:46:11. > :46:19.That is the ovarian into Maltese. He is so strong. From that static

:46:20. > :46:24.position, back up. -- the azarian into Maltese. He's holding a

:46:25. > :46:43.perfect, he's not even moving at all.

:46:44. > :46:58.Super work. That falls a 14.86 from his team-mate Nicky did it cost me.

:46:59. > :47:12.It is 15.7. We will bring you Great Britain's

:47:13. > :47:28.bolts as soon as we can. As soon as we go into the next rotation.

:47:29. > :47:47.We are now with Lin Chaopan. Nice start. Slight arch. Onto the one

:47:48. > :47:51.handled. Really tidy work so far. Just managed to fight and stay on.

:47:52. > :48:08.He needs to settle down and keep his composure. Into the dismount. Slight

:48:09. > :48:13.stutter on landing. Tried to present to the judges too quickly. He is

:48:14. > :48:18.happy he got through it. We said it was his weakest. He was trying to

:48:19. > :48:25.get his sandals on and get off the podium before they got any more

:48:26. > :48:31.conduction is. This is a chance to see the former world and European

:48:32. > :48:38.champion on parallel bars. He has one of the highest darts in this

:48:39. > :48:47.competition. It'll be good to see what he can do for his team. Height

:48:48. > :48:54.about to the end of the bars. From one end to the other, he has cleared

:48:55. > :48:58.his feet. He is at the end of his routine now. He has done the hard

:48:59. > :49:07.work but will want to finish it off cleanly. Big double front half turn.

:49:08. > :49:10.That was really good. Verniaiev just working the two pieces of apparatus

:49:11. > :49:19.and his country are resting him for the all-around title coming up. That

:49:20. > :49:23.John Mann has a very good chance of beating core height Richie Myler who

:49:24. > :49:36.they call the greatest gymnast that has ever lived. Verniaiev could take

:49:37. > :49:44.that title. They are moving onto the rings. Germany going into this were

:49:45. > :49:49.second and Russia were leading, Brazil weren't third. A chance to

:49:50. > :49:54.see more of Verniaiev in slow motion. That move was the tip out.

:49:55. > :50:00.You need to have your legs high above the bar and that is one of the

:50:01. > :50:04.highest tip outs I have seen. And that is the dismount. He has got

:50:05. > :50:12.that so good. It is real that you see him take a hop on landing. He is

:50:13. > :50:16.a very efficient gymnast all-around. He is really good. I think he has

:50:17. > :50:20.one of the highest scores in the all-rounder at this Olympic Games.

:50:21. > :50:26.He will be hoping to challenge for the medal. He makes everything look

:50:27. > :50:33.very well within his grasp and does not looks stressed. That is what is

:50:34. > :50:37.so impressive with him. The difficulty he is putting in is

:50:38. > :50:47.unbelievable but he looks so composed under pressure. The USA

:50:48. > :50:54.will go to the rings. 15.9 just before 16. Russia and Japan on the

:50:55. > :50:59.vault. Let us catch up with what happened with Brinn Bevan, the first

:51:00. > :51:07.Great Britain falter. Such an exciting young gymnast. Six are

:51:08. > :51:16.valued. It will be hard. It was so well landed as well. He conceded a

:51:17. > :51:21.light his face. To start the team that way is special. Just 19 years

:51:22. > :51:26.old and a key piece of apparatus. If all of them can nail it, it is game

:51:27. > :51:34.on. Look at that. The team spirit. One. Full is to so far, they have

:51:35. > :51:41.done six out of six routines. It is all about who goes clean. He took a

:51:42. > :51:49.few steps back in qualification but make sure he opened out and spotted

:51:50. > :51:55.the landing. He may get removed one tenth for his landing but he landed

:51:56. > :52:00.on his feet. They acted to onto the platform. You make between a quarter

:52:01. > :52:05.and a half to them. You launch yourself into the air, high enough

:52:06. > :52:09.to go around 2.5 times. It is amazing. He has made such a mark on

:52:10. > :52:17.the senior stage when he stepped up from the juniors. That was a huge

:52:18. > :52:23.score. And over to one of the most experienced members of the richest

:52:24. > :52:28.team, Captain Cristy and Thomas. 37 years old. The powerhouse we have

:52:29. > :52:33.relied on. -- Kristian Thomas. He uses a different approach and a

:52:34. > :52:40.different technique, great style and control. Lovely height of the top of

:52:41. > :52:46.the platform. That was just superb. It went exactly to plan. Quite a

:52:47. > :52:52.different story to qualification where nothing went to plan on the

:52:53. > :52:58.vault. Great to see the captain had the confidence to turn the fight

:52:59. > :53:03.around. The round-up onto the board. Backwards onto the table. Double

:53:04. > :53:09.take. Very similar to what he did at the Olympics in 2012. He is the man

:53:10. > :53:22.to rely on when you need to. What a vault that was. I think... The

:53:23. > :53:29.really goes up rather than going long. The co-years. He is finished

:53:30. > :53:34.by the time he is level with the platform. He could get a bronze

:53:35. > :53:44.medal at the world Championships. 15.4 for Christian Thomas. What a

:53:45. > :53:48.great score for Great Britain. Great Britain are inferred. Germany still

:53:49. > :53:55.in second and Russia lead the competition. Japan are now in fifth

:53:56. > :54:02.place. China are sixth. Great Britain slowly climbing. We said

:54:03. > :54:07.they would crawl their way back. They are over the parallel bars

:54:08. > :54:18.dive. That is a piece of apparatus where we have been down some points

:54:19. > :54:24.in the past. He has posted a difficulty of sex. This is

:54:25. > :54:29.effectively marked out of 16. -- difficulty of six. He was so

:54:30. > :54:35.impressive in the Europeans but not quite on top of his game this

:54:36. > :54:39.weekend. That was right on the top of his game. These guys are making

:54:40. > :54:45.these usually difficult vaults so simple. Double front with half out.

:54:46. > :54:52.Russia are proving very hard to beat. We have got China who have

:54:53. > :55:06.moved up one spot from seventh up to sixth. This is one of the big PCs,

:55:07. > :55:12.China. The former world champion and current silver medallist as well.

:55:13. > :55:20.Very high difficulty. They qualified in first place on the rings. This is

:55:21. > :55:26.high. Huge strength, crucifix upside down. How about that? And then went

:55:27. > :55:39.the normal way up from two somersaults. Into another fantastic

:55:40. > :55:43.strength element. Lovely clash. That is when the gymnast holds the body

:55:44. > :55:49.dead straight. You can see the strength.

:55:50. > :56:04.Real control. Needs to start swinging now. Lovely straight body

:56:05. > :56:08.up to the handstand. And a big dismount. Find a in that double

:56:09. > :56:15.straight somersault with full twist. Help the body as straight as can be.

:56:16. > :56:21.Where can they take anything away? That was as close to perfect as I

:56:22. > :56:29.have seen on the rings. Really? Yes. He made that look so easy, stuck the

:56:30. > :56:33.dismount. Where can they deduct? China in sixth and Japan Aaron

:56:34. > :56:38.fifth. Looking to use this piece of apparatus to jump ahead and crawl

:56:39. > :56:39.into the medals. Russia are leading and Germany second. Great Britain

:56:40. > :57:06.Aaron 's third. -- R.N.. We use of the power that Denis

:57:07. > :57:16.Abliazin has in his arms, let us look at the power in his legs. This

:57:17. > :57:20.lad is something else. Current Olympic silver medallist and the

:57:21. > :57:24.second-highest qualifier. Difficulty of 6.4. This will be big. You can

:57:25. > :57:31.only imagine what it will be. Watch carefully. He makes a full twist and

:57:32. > :57:37.then another back somersault. Full twisting double back somersault from

:57:38. > :57:41.the hands. Amazing stuff. That was absolutely huge. He kept that

:57:42. > :57:47.springboard, lodged up into the sky. He was almost in the roof of the

:57:48. > :57:55.Olympic Arena. You need to be to get that vault round. He is down the

:57:56. > :58:02.runway. The Hoge Heide that is. He almost has times to open out. One

:58:03. > :58:06.tenth step back on the landing. We have seen the gymnast attempt this

:58:07. > :58:14.rings for a little bit and have landed on the face. That was

:58:15. > :58:20.fabulous. Brinn Bevan now for Great Britain on parallel bars. Second up.

:58:21. > :58:31.We had Max Whitlock, we will try to bring you his routine. Nice start to

:58:32. > :58:42.settle him down. That was a requirement. That is the under Bath.

:58:43. > :58:49.Really smooth. That was a double back.

:58:50. > :59:08.Slight stutter. Carrying on nicely. Huge tip out into the middle of the

:59:09. > :59:18.bars. Ready for the dismount. Double tuck. Brinn Bevan, well done. Huge

:59:19. > :59:24.pressure on the shoulders of the 19-year-old. Taking that food spot

:59:25. > :59:28.in the GB team. There was a lot riding on it. Great Britain are

:59:29. > :59:41.going all out and so far the Campbell is paying off. 15.64 Denis

:59:42. > :59:48.Abliazin. That was an enormous vault score as a collective for Russia. I

:59:49. > :59:52.felt -- felt that the Brinn Bevan look classy. His handstand is

:59:53. > :59:59.fantastic. That was a little stumble with his hands. When he is in the

:00:00. > :00:03.handstand shape, his line, he looks as classy as the Japanese and

:00:04. > :00:11.Chinese. His somersaults have got the knees locked together. Beautiful

:00:12. > :00:15.work. Both Macs and Brinn Bevan from the same club, South Essex. Their

:00:16. > :00:33.coaches with the team. No problem with this dismount, he

:00:34. > :00:39.knew exactly where he was. 14.933 four Brinn Bevan with a 6.4

:00:40. > :00:43.difficulty. Putting Britain on Sol and looking good so far. That is

:00:44. > :00:50.three down, Great Britain halfway round. We will bring you Nile

:00:51. > :01:06.Wilson's routine as quick as we can. I'm not sure what's going on here.

:01:07. > :01:13.He doesn't seem to have any guards on. He's holding the bar, then he is

:01:14. > :01:17.off again. I guess for whatever reason he's not going to work, but

:01:18. > :01:20.you have to present yourself and show the judges that you're there

:01:21. > :01:24.and then you're allowed to go to the next piece of apparatus. I think

:01:25. > :01:31.that's them out of the competition now. They will certainly be at the

:01:32. > :01:36.bottom, which is a shame not to let the other team have the opportunity

:01:37. > :01:45.if you haven't got three people to work. Maybe he's hurt himself during

:01:46. > :01:50.the competition. You Hao now for China, the world silver medallist.

:01:51. > :01:55.The third highest qualifier for the rings final. We've seen the pedigree

:01:56. > :01:56.and rings. This lad is amongst the finest rings workers that you will

:01:57. > :02:18.ever see. And rings are all about strength,

:02:19. > :02:23.control and that's got both. Quite unbelievable strength to be able to

:02:24. > :02:36.lift your body like that. He swings and controls that so well. That's

:02:37. > :02:40.the change in recent years for rings. We started to see multiple

:02:41. > :02:49.somersaults between rings added to the strength element.

:02:50. > :02:56.Fabulous discipline with the rings. You're meant to swing and dead

:02:57. > :03:05.straight arms, which she does. Dead straight body. Big dismount. Oh, and

:03:06. > :03:10.that was an error. Big steps forward. You try to be so perfect on

:03:11. > :03:16.the shape of the dismount, but that would be... I get about a 0.8 on the

:03:17. > :03:20.landing. I would say maybe even a mark. His chest was down. He took

:03:21. > :03:26.two or three steps. He tried not to fall but it was probably worth the

:03:27. > :03:31.same as falling. China were in sixth. And it looks like they're on

:03:32. > :03:35.their way down. They've not had a good start to this competition at

:03:36. > :03:40.all. They've still got their best pieces to come, so it will be

:03:41. > :03:47.interesting to see what happens. But they are halfway round. It will be

:03:48. > :03:52.difficult to bring back now. We know they're good parallel bars, but it's

:03:53. > :03:58.a tough ask for them. Very deep on that landing. I think you're right,

:03:59. > :04:02.that will be pretty a mark. That is a gymnast that is not used to be

:04:03. > :04:06.situation. That doesn't usually happen to him. He'll have another

:04:07. > :04:15.chance to show the world what he can do and rings in the rings final, but

:04:16. > :04:18.as far as his team chancers are concerned... They're still talking

:04:19. > :04:23.about it, wondering what went wrong. He almost went up too high to come

:04:24. > :04:27.down too heavy. I think he opened out of the dismount and try to stop

:04:28. > :04:35.the landing. They had a few mistakes. He's opened up too early.

:04:36. > :04:41.It will be interesting to see what Japan can do here on vault. There is

:04:42. > :04:45.warm up going on in these few minutes. A reminder going into this,

:04:46. > :04:54.Russia were ahead of Germany in second. Great Britain were third.

:04:55. > :05:04.The US was seven and Ukraine were final in eighth. They will drop out.

:05:05. > :05:09.About be only counting two scores on the high bar. If you think that's

:05:10. > :05:16.going to be 13 marks down, you're not going to make that up anything

:05:17. > :05:21.else. As it stands, it looks as if it could well be between Russia,

:05:22. > :05:28.Germany, Japan and Great Britain. The US look way down. I think Japan

:05:29. > :05:35.will be finishing on floor. With Kenzo Shirai there will be a big

:05:36. > :05:40.final, as with Britain on pommel. It will be very, very close. It's worth

:05:41. > :05:44.mentioning the greatest achievement ever for the British team has been a

:05:45. > :05:54.bronze in 2012 and a bronze 100 years before that. So can they

:05:55. > :06:00.upgrade the colour of that medal? We said, didn't we, down, how nervous

:06:01. > :06:05.we were walking out today knowing the possibilities, thinking about

:06:06. > :06:07.the opportunities. I was so nervous. Excited at the same time, because

:06:08. > :06:13.the opportunity is there for them to take. Before it was unheard of us

:06:14. > :06:18.getting a team medal. It was a delight when it happened. Now almost

:06:19. > :06:23.everyone is expecting it so there's an added pressure. What happens now,

:06:24. > :06:26.bearing in mind we don't do weaker half of our competition? Going

:06:27. > :06:38.ahead, what happens mentally from here? 14.800, that's way down.

:06:39. > :06:41.You've done well, you're clean. That will springboard you into the

:06:42. > :06:48.stronger half of the competition and you can be a contender for the

:06:49. > :06:53.medals. 45.233 four China and rings. It's still a healthy score, but not

:06:54. > :06:56.what you would have imagined. Still big, still probably one of the

:06:57. > :06:59.biggest in the competition and rings. But that was the piece where

:07:00. > :07:04.they really made up marks and that is down on what they had and

:07:05. > :07:09.qualifications. Germany can be pretty handy on high bar. Marcel

:07:10. > :07:15.Nguyen is the first gymnast up. He qualified for the all-round final.

:07:16. > :07:19.Fabian Hambuechen still to come. Our first look at the high bar. Tidy

:07:20. > :07:24.with the legs as he shot out into the full turn their with a

:07:25. > :07:31.half-time. Straight into the somersault over the bar. Here comes

:07:32. > :07:39.another one, this time with full twist. A straight body. Huge

:07:40. > :07:45.difficulty. It's these difficult releases and pirouettes. One arm

:07:46. > :07:53.Circle. Nicely performed, nicely incorporated into the routine. Have

:07:54. > :07:58.to do close elements as well, that is one of them. It's all these

:07:59. > :08:02.difficult moves added to gather, plus the dismount. A big double

:08:03. > :08:08.twisting dismount, that was a good team effort from Marcel Nguyen. He

:08:09. > :08:11.knows there's a chance. We all discounted them at the start but

:08:12. > :08:17.they are sticking in there, they're staying with it with a former World

:08:18. > :08:21.Champion on high bar still come. A lot of other teams have fallen. We

:08:22. > :08:25.didn't give Germany a chance at the start because they're missing their

:08:26. > :08:35.top all-rounder. But if they're going to stay on and everyone else

:08:36. > :08:41.falls, they'll be up there. Kohei Uchimura on vault. Japan are in

:08:42. > :08:47.fifth. There is the line-up. Making sure everything is right. Key to his

:08:48. > :08:52.precision. Needs to give just the right amount of energy and

:08:53. > :08:59.precision. Half-time, two and a half twists. Quite a deep landing, but

:09:00. > :09:02.lovely style and controlled. Kohei Uchimura keeping Japan in

:09:03. > :09:13.contention. The start to climb from here. Watch out! Quite a complicated

:09:14. > :09:18.vault. Hands in front of the board on the mat, then he half turns onto

:09:19. > :09:23.the platform. Pushers off, holds the body dead straight, and it is so

:09:24. > :09:26.straight. Puts into and it is so straight. Puts in two and a half

:09:27. > :09:30.twists. Usually when you see this vault performed as they turn on the

:09:31. > :09:35.back flip their legs split, there is a little bit of bent legs in the air

:09:36. > :09:39.as they come off the vault. But that's what you're looking for.

:09:40. > :09:43.Apart from the landing, his legs are glued together, trying not to give

:09:44. > :09:51.anything away. Straight down the line. Just beautiful to watch. I

:09:52. > :09:59.love his body shape. Most gymnasts create a pike or an arch. He holds

:10:00. > :10:04.its so farm. They deserve it 15.566. A huge score for Kohei Uchimura. If

:10:05. > :10:11.you're a fan of twisting, brace yourselves. Kenzo Shirai, can be

:10:12. > :10:16.turns. Here we go. A lot of power because he needs a lot of height for

:10:17. > :10:20.time in the air. That was a triple twist without any doubt at all. Was

:10:21. > :10:27.that one of the best bolts that we've ever seen? It is a perfect

:10:28. > :10:33.landing, it's what the Japanese team need. They're a bit down the

:10:34. > :10:39.leaderboard. That's it. We saw him land a three and a half in podium

:10:40. > :10:43.training. Goodness me. Junior Barretto now in front of the home

:10:44. > :10:52.crowd. The Brazilians cheer for their man. His first Olympics.

:10:53. > :11:08.Forward somersault from upper arms to handstand. That is nice under bar

:11:09. > :11:19.work. Slightly on one bar there. Travelling from one end into the

:11:20. > :11:23.middle, which is a requirement. Slightly quick of one bar. Again,

:11:24. > :11:31.looks like he's fighting. There's the dismount. He has stayed on.

:11:32. > :11:36.Fought his way through it. That will do for Brazil. Brazil were sitting

:11:37. > :11:52.in fourth place going into this rotation. Germany 14.400 four Marcel

:11:53. > :12:02.Nguyen. The former World Champion will be up hopefully next. 15.633

:12:03. > :12:06.four Kenzo Shirai. Offering congratulations. It's so wonderful

:12:07. > :12:11.to see Brazil in the team final. We talked about was all being lowered

:12:12. > :12:18.gymnasts, but three up and three to count. And they're not too shabby.

:12:19. > :12:22.No, they're very good. They impressed greatly on the training

:12:23. > :12:25.and in qualification. They will be quite a force, their women as well.

:12:26. > :12:39.They've really risen to the advantage of the home Olympics.

:12:40. > :12:46.Alexander Naddour for the USA. The USA were in seventh going into this

:12:47. > :12:52.rotation. This is the third of the three rotations up for the USA. This

:12:53. > :13:01.is good apparatus for them. There are strong and powerful, you can see

:13:02. > :13:10.there. Lovely strength. Confident and easy hold of the body. See how

:13:11. > :13:17.the gymnast turns the rings, get them to work for them. Toes just

:13:18. > :13:33.done a little bit on that occasion. Needs the feat a tiny bit higher,

:13:34. > :13:38.but a good plant would be shoulders. Lovely control with the top of the

:13:39. > :13:42.swing. See him change shape, ready for the full twisting double back.

:13:43. > :13:50.That was a bit and tidy. A little hop on the landing. I don't think

:13:51. > :13:53.they should be written off. They're doing everything they can to claw

:13:54. > :13:57.their way back from the seventh spot. That follows Christopher

:13:58. > :14:11.Brooks' score and Jacob Dalton's score. A 14.74 Junior Barretto.

:14:12. > :14:16.Good, I'm delighted we will get a chance to see Fabian in action. He

:14:17. > :14:24.is the current World Champion and he has got a 7.34 difficulty on high

:14:25. > :14:35.bar. Brace yourself! -- a 7.3 for difficulty. Quietly up to start. You

:14:36. > :14:39.can see the increase of the swing, the full turning straight somersault

:14:40. > :14:45.over the bar. And now in the top position. You catch at full stretch,

:14:46. > :14:54.work into the next element. Lovely straight body. One and a half turns.

:14:55. > :14:59.A turn, a somersault, combine elements like you did there. All the

:15:00. > :15:07.time you've got to keep the swing going. An element mustn't be so

:15:08. > :15:12.difficult that it stops you dead. And, of course, you've got to have

:15:13. > :15:16.the big confident discount. The twists in two double straight

:15:17. > :15:23.somersault. That's why he's top qualifier on the high bar. Come on,

:15:24. > :15:28.Germany! Therein second. Can they hang on there? My word, this is just

:15:29. > :15:42.extraordinary. This is a final that we didn't expect. 14.966 for the USA

:15:43. > :15:46.and their gymnast up there. 44.465 for the USA. That will be a big

:15:47. > :15:49.score. We knew coming into this at Fabian Hambuechen had a score of 16

:15:50. > :16:05.at the German championships. He just missed out on the gold in

:16:06. > :16:13.the last Olympics. He has harnessed some of the power. It is not too

:16:14. > :16:19.wild. That release and catch from a combination. I think that is the

:16:20. > :16:27.routine he has done for his team that he can get through. If you

:16:28. > :16:39.needed those extra tenths at the end of the day he will kick himself.

:16:40. > :16:50.He has done that the 7.3 difficulty. Chance to see Nile Wilson for Great

:16:51. > :16:59.Britain. He is the third gymnast for Great Britain following Max Whitlock

:17:00. > :17:02.and his 14.5. He has a lot of class on this piece. We saw that in the

:17:03. > :17:12.World Championship 's last year when he made the final.

:17:13. > :17:20.Really good. No doubt that be counted. He has managed to keep it

:17:21. > :17:26.going but they will be a deduction going up to the handstand but he has

:17:27. > :17:36.not fallen. High double back with a kick out. Moving from one end of the

:17:37. > :17:41.bar to the other. That is where he cut his leg on qualification. Moving

:17:42. > :18:02.into the middle. Into the double front despite. Small

:18:03. > :18:14.step. He will not be too happy with that. He got through but did not hit

:18:15. > :18:20.his peak too hard. He had a deduction going into the handstand.

:18:21. > :18:24.It is a long way around and you have to allow some errors. You would

:18:25. > :18:32.rather a small error than a big full error. He is still definitely end

:18:33. > :18:45.with a chance. Great Britain Aaron Howitt. That was a seven difficulty

:18:46. > :18:53.for Nile Wilson. That was up from his qualification and much better.

:18:54. > :18:58.We are waiting for the judges scores to come in and we will get

:18:59. > :19:05.confirmation of the standings halfway around. From here, Great

:19:06. > :19:07.Britain will go to the high bar. Then they will have the floor

:19:08. > :19:12.competition and finishing on the very strong pommel horse with Max

:19:13. > :19:23.Whitlock, world Champion, and Liz Smith as well. -- Louis Smith. This

:19:24. > :19:28.is a very tight men's team final. A reminder going into this, it was

:19:29. > :19:34.Russia, Germany and Great Britain. And now it is Russia, Japan and

:19:35. > :19:43.Great Britain. Germany dropped down into fifth. China are still in

:19:44. > :19:54.sixth. Japan, what a leap from first up into second. Very nice scoring

:19:55. > :19:59.vault. They figured they will have the weaker PCs with the pommel horse

:20:00. > :20:02.and the rings. That is overweight and now it is strong apparatus for

:20:03. > :20:33.them and the rest and the rest of the competition.

:20:34. > :20:44.This is going to be a crowd-pleaser, seeing Brazil on the high bar. The

:20:45. > :20:53.high bar is a spectacular piece. You will get lots of noise from the

:20:54. > :21:00.crowd. We will stick with Arthur Mariano, the 22-year-old. He posted

:21:01. > :21:12.a 6.79 qualification. Can he go higher? He made a slight error in

:21:13. > :21:20.qualification. He missed the connection into a release and catch

:21:21. > :21:27.a meal he can go higher. There's a larger spine Great Britain and

:21:28. > :21:35.forth. Arthur Mariano with it all to do. Can you just stay on? Let us

:21:36. > :21:41.find out. He will have to do more than just stay on and I am sure he

:21:42. > :21:45.knows that. And he nearly fell at the top. Half turn, works smoothly

:21:46. > :23:55.out of it. Good full turn. We're going to leave the gymnastics

:23:56. > :23:59.behind on BBC four. If you would like to continue watching the men's

:24:00. > :24:04.team final you can switch to BBC One. They will take that right now.

:24:05. > :24:10.A gymnastics continues to see if the likes of Louis Smith, Max Whitlock,

:24:11. > :24:16.Kristian Thomas, Nile Wilson and Brinn Bevan can win a medal in the

:24:17. > :24:21.Olympic Arena, about ten miles away at -- from where we are on the

:24:22. > :24:25.Copacabana. That is on BBC One. On this channel, we have plenty lined

:24:26. > :24:30.up. We're here until two o'clock in the morning in the UK. This is how

:24:31. > :24:36.it looks. We will show you some live judo anyone -- in a minute. That is

:24:37. > :24:41.the gold medal match. We have got the hockey coming up as well. You

:24:42. > :24:46.make a the other night that the women of Team GB beat Australia,

:24:47. > :24:49.amazing game. They will take on India tonight. And we will go into

:24:50. > :25:10.the boxing as well. Here on BBC Four, it is time to keep

:25:11. > :25:15.you up-to-date with all the headlines.

:25:16. > :25:23.Medal number four for Team GB. Tom Daley and Daniel Goodfellow have won

:25:24. > :25:26.a bronze in the men's ten metre platform. They said they would only

:25:27. > :25:30.compete if they had a chance of a medal and you can see what it meant.

:25:31. > :25:38.Bronze medal for Tom Daley and Daniel Goodfellow. Earlier on, we

:25:39. > :25:42.also had a medal from Ed Ling. The man from Somerset took that medal in

:25:43. > :25:49.the men's trap shut. His third Olympic Games, 25th then 21st and

:25:50. > :25:55.now he finishes third. Bronze medal here in Rio. Helen Glover and

:25:56. > :25:59.Heather Stanning started a run for gold in the women's payer. 37 races

:26:00. > :26:06.unbeaten for them and into the semifinals. That was in the Lagoa

:26:07. > :26:10.Stadium. And the Rugby sevens has been brilliant to watch in these

:26:11. > :26:16.Olympics so far. Great Britain 's woman lost their semifinal to New

:26:17. > :26:20.Zealand. New Zealand will take on Australia in the final, the

:26:21. > :26:23.gold-medal match. The bronze medal match will seek Great Britain take

:26:24. > :26:32.on Canada and that'll take place around 10:30pm in the UK. In terms

:26:33. > :26:36.of what is on where, just a reminder, on BBC One right now you

:26:37. > :26:40.can see the end of the men's team final. Team GB with a chance of a

:26:41. > :26:46.medal. Plenty of boxing available on the Red Button and on the BBC

:26:47. > :26:57.website. We will bring you boxing later. And some table tennis for you

:26:58. > :27:00.available on the sport application and the website. Paul Drinkhall, the

:27:01. > :27:13.world number two made it to dash through to the fourth round.

:27:14. > :27:20.If you are watching the coverage last night into the small hours and

:27:21. > :27:23.we had the first gold-medal which was for Adam Peaty. It is time to

:27:24. > :27:45.unveil our first golden coconut. We have even coloured that. Do not

:27:46. > :27:51.say that we are wasting your licence fee. ?1.10 this coconut cost me. It

:27:52. > :27:55.was my pen I do it on with and the string is about 50p. This is the

:27:56. > :28:02.hatstand where we will hang the golden coconut. No expense spared. I

:28:03. > :28:05.am delighted to see that what we are trying to do is to get somebody hang

:28:06. > :28:14.up the golden coconut every single time. Let me welcome Andy and John.

:28:15. > :28:23.For from Wolverhampton. And you arrived when? Last night. And when

:28:24. > :28:27.straight to the bar. And woke up to a Gold Medal. How did you find out

:28:28. > :28:33.about Adam Peaty? Presumably that happened when you were flying? When

:28:34. > :28:41.we landed in Rio yesterday, I use my BBC sport application. Two. It was a

:28:42. > :28:45.good start to the trip. What have you done today could map we had a

:28:46. > :28:48.fabulous day. We had been at the Beach Volleyball Arena watching the

:28:49. > :28:54.ladies Beach Volleyball Arena which was hell escalation mark he is with

:28:55. > :29:00.his wife, Carol is just behind the camera. And we watched the Brazilian

:29:01. > :29:05.team beat the Argentinian team. The atmosphere was electric. In terms of

:29:06. > :29:08.that, was at a full stadium because lots of shots of the Beach

:29:09. > :29:12.Volleyball Arena it has not been entirely full. It definitely peaked

:29:13. > :29:18.for that one game and then dropped off. There was a couple of smaller

:29:19. > :29:24.games and was half empty. It was rammed with for the Argentina game

:29:25. > :29:28.with Brazil. They know how to appreciate sport. It was fantastic.

:29:29. > :29:32.Football is king but they have lots of time for Beach Volleyball Arena

:29:33. > :29:37.the this is your chance to make everybody jealous, what have you

:29:38. > :29:45.tickets for? Basketball, volleyball and athletics. Super Saturday. We

:29:46. > :29:51.hope that Mo Farah can do it again. And Jessica Ennis and Greg

:29:52. > :29:55.Rutherford. We will have a union Jack and support everyone. You have

:29:56. > :30:02.got the flag ready, you have came prepared. If you see a Wolverhampton

:30:03. > :30:06.flag on Saturday, you know it is John and Andy. You have got the

:30:07. > :30:12.golden coconut, if you would like to come over. It is such an honour.

:30:13. > :30:19.LAUGHTER. He said with no sarcasm whatsoever. Big round of applause

:30:20. > :30:27.for the golden coconut as it goes on. The golden coconut for Adam

:30:28. > :30:35.Peaty. Tell us how special that was? Four years of hard practice.

:30:36. > :30:40.Dedication. I am an Olympian. You are slightly overstating your part.

:30:41. > :30:44.One more close-up of the golden coconut. Hopefully we will have more

:30:45. > :30:50.gold medals to hang on there. It has been a pleasure. What would you like

:30:51. > :30:54.to see Max Kretzschmar say judo. As it happens, judo. It is interesting

:30:55. > :30:58.you should say that. Thank you to both of you. It is over to judo

:30:59. > :31:03.where we will take you now. Yesterday, there was an amazing

:31:04. > :31:15.scene in the arena. One of the things we have seen so far, some

:31:16. > :31:18.high emotion. The first ever medal for her country, overpowering the

:31:19. > :31:42.Italian. That was for Kosovo. He is only ranked 29th in the world.

:31:43. > :31:48.A big upset. You can see just how pleased he was. We will go back to

:31:49. > :31:52.the judo and BBC Four. Don't forget, gymnastics on BBC One. If you need a

:31:53. > :32:21.reminder of how the judo works, this will help.

:32:22. > :32:33.The scores level, they enter golden score. The highest scoring technique

:32:34. > :32:37.instantly wins the contest. And can be achieved in four ways, forming an

:32:38. > :32:42.opponent with impact on their back with considerable force and speed,

:32:43. > :32:46.pinning and holding down an opponent for 20 seconds with selected holding

:32:47. > :32:58.techniques. When an opponent submits or gives up, or scoring a Waza Are.

:32:59. > :33:02.It can be achieved in two ways. Holding down an opponent for 15

:33:03. > :33:09.seconds or more, but less than 20 seconds. A Yuko is worth one

:33:10. > :33:13.pointing can be scored by throwing an opponent but lacking two of the

:33:14. > :33:18.elements needed for the full win, or holding down an opponent for 10-14

:33:19. > :33:24.seconds. Judo is a knockout competition and all competitors are

:33:25. > :33:36.placed in a draw but is divided. The top scorers for weight categories

:33:37. > :33:45.will be divided. That is everything you need to know. The opening match

:33:46. > :33:49.was won in a round of 16. She fought France. Let's drain the commentators

:33:50. > :34:03.where we have Neal Adams and Mark Doran.

:34:04. > :34:09.COMMENTATOR: Great Britain in the blue, France in the white. No love

:34:10. > :34:20.lost between these two. This is going to be a fight. Pavia will be

:34:21. > :34:27.trying to throw a big arm over the top. She tends to have a habit of

:34:28. > :34:31.gravitating towards the area. The safety of attack. They will both go

:34:32. > :34:36.for the same thing here. Smythe-Davis will be going for the

:34:37. > :34:39.right-handed techniques, so will Pavia. That normally means that one

:34:40. > :35:01.or the other is in danger. Pavia is first into the attack. Both

:35:02. > :35:10.looking for the move where they wrap themselves around the outside of the

:35:11. > :35:19.leg. Attacking the front leg. So far, Pavia just getting the better

:35:20. > :35:25.of the gripping exchanges. One Shido each on the board. A bronze

:35:26. > :35:30.medallist in London in this 57 kilograms division, Pavia of Frank,

:35:31. > :35:37.the 27-year-old. Also a bronze medallist in the World Championships

:35:38. > :35:42.in Kazakhstan last year. In the European Championships she won the

:35:43. > :35:49.gold medal. Her form is outstanding. She's trying to throw her opponent

:35:50. > :35:56.to the mat. She was able to do that, but can't convert good defence. She

:35:57. > :35:59.was absolutely guaranteed coming to this Olympic Games. There were two

:36:00. > :36:04.French up for it and they were head to head all the way through

:36:05. > :36:07.qualification. She just got it through the last qualification

:36:08. > :36:13.event. Here she is, fighting to get through to the quarterfinals. You

:36:14. > :36:17.can see what I mean about both of them trying to get round the outside

:36:18. > :36:25.of that leg. That could be good, beneficial. The Yuko is scored to

:36:26. > :36:29.Smythe-Davis. Smythe-Davis will have two be first into the attack. The

:36:30. > :36:36.thing is, Pavia has beaten her to that attack every time. The Yuko

:36:37. > :36:44.score on the board for the French lady. Smythe-Davis, who was a

:36:45. > :36:47.volunteer in London in an admin role at the Olympic Games, said she used

:36:48. > :36:53.to keep sneaking out to watch the judo. There is no need to sneak now,

:36:54. > :36:57.everyone is looking at you. You are centre stage. And hopefully loving

:36:58. > :37:02.it! Although just at the moment she has something else to keep her eye

:37:03. > :37:06.on. She just nearly got caught that, Pavia, by going round that leg all

:37:07. > :37:17.the time. Smythe-Davis nearly turned it against her. A good old hard

:37:18. > :37:23.match. I have to say that Smythe-Davis pushing forward all the

:37:24. > :37:32.time. And Pavia just keeping her cool. 13 centimetres and difference

:37:33. > :37:36.in height. You can see that as you look at it. The additional

:37:37. > :37:41.leveraged, is that a major factor or sometimes can be beneficial to be

:37:42. > :37:45.able to get underneath? It can be, but if you've got somebody who can

:37:46. > :37:51.drop underneath with the shoulder throws it isn't necessarily a big

:37:52. > :37:57.advantage. I said that she gravitates towards the edge and

:37:58. > :38:07.that's just what she's got a second penalty for, Pavia. Just the one

:38:08. > :38:12.Yuko that separates these two. Just over a minute remaining. You get a

:38:13. > :38:18.feeling as you watch these bouts at this level when something's going to

:38:19. > :38:22.happen it could be about now. Something is because obviously

:38:23. > :38:26.Smythe-Davis knows that she's leaving, she has to push forwards.

:38:27. > :38:31.Pushing forwards against Pavia isn't always the best thing. You can see

:38:32. > :38:37.that Pavia is half waiting. She will get a third penalty. This is

:38:38. > :38:40.interesting. She will get a third penalty 37 seconds from the end and

:38:41. > :38:45.our Smythe-Davis will put under pressure. Four penalties as

:38:46. > :38:51.automatic disqualification. Pavia must come forward, that can be no

:38:52. > :38:55.trying to defend, no way at all. She cannot defend in any possible way.

:38:56. > :38:59.If she wants to run away in these last 30 seconds it will work against

:39:00. > :39:05.her. She will also have to stay in that yellow centre. A big chance

:39:06. > :39:09.here for the London. She was watching the Olympics four years

:39:10. > :39:17.ago. The chance to move through to a quarterfinal. If she can produce

:39:18. > :39:21.something here, she can't run. Smythe-Davis taken well outside that

:39:22. > :39:27.area. What is the referee called by? That will be nothing. Smythe-Davis

:39:28. > :39:32.will want to turn around and come forwards. Pavia will have to stand

:39:33. > :39:42.her ground. Look at the defensive posture that from Pavia. That could

:39:43. > :39:45.possibly be done here, but I'm not quite sure how they will do this.

:39:46. > :39:54.She's running away, nine seconds left on the clock. It's given,

:39:55. > :39:58.penalty is given to Smythe-Davis for cross gripping. Staying on the cross

:39:59. > :40:02.grip for too long. You've got to attack immediately on the cross

:40:03. > :40:06.grip. Smythe-Davis house to go forwards. Three seconds left and

:40:07. > :40:15.Pavia just needs to stand ground now. She was derailed in that

:40:16. > :40:18.confrontation. Smythe-Davis did everything right. She just got

:40:19. > :40:25.caught with that one right to write technique. They were both going for

:40:26. > :40:32.the same thing. Pavia came off best. It's cost her because she has to

:40:33. > :40:40.come full with all the time. -- come forward. They just keep giving and

:40:41. > :40:47.giving. Gave away her jacket in the end. Now she comes forwards. Well,

:40:48. > :40:56.she had to go for it. Pavia goes through and Smythe-Davis loses the

:40:57. > :41:01.match. Lost no admirers, though. Smythe-Davis really went hard. She

:41:02. > :41:11.did not stop. Unable to get on the scoreboard despite all of that

:41:12. > :41:15.aggression. Well done, Pavia. She has an Olympic quarterfinal spot. A

:41:16. > :41:19.good draw for her just having to fight wants to this stage. Pushed

:41:20. > :41:23.not so much to the limit but certainly pushed to the limited

:41:24. > :41:28.time. The full four minutes of that were needed. Here the highlights.

:41:29. > :41:33.You can see as she goes around the outside of the leg, Pavia just

:41:34. > :41:38.rotates. She's looking for the same thing. It was all about that front

:41:39. > :41:48.leg, all about getting the balance right. Pavia does well with that,

:41:49. > :42:00.but so does Davis. Davis did well just to prevent the Ippon.

:42:01. > :42:05.So disappointment for Smythe-Davis, but we will show you the gold medal

:42:06. > :42:09.match for that 57 kilograms category. They did in fact involve a

:42:10. > :42:16.Brazilian. We were talking about Andy and John earlier about what

:42:17. > :42:19.that means now. We have seen a number of empty stadiums, we talked

:42:20. > :42:24.about the beach volleyball and the tennis. Boxing didn't have that many

:42:25. > :42:29.fans. I was talking to Brazilians yesterday and it is important for us

:42:30. > :42:33.from a UK perspective to understand not only the economic situation for

:42:34. > :42:37.Brazilians here trying to watch the Olympic Games, but also the fact

:42:38. > :42:41.that football is so much king. Yesterday it was a packed stadium

:42:42. > :42:52.when Brazil took on Iraq. The only thing that the guys I was talking to

:42:53. > :42:55.you in our hotel this morning about was the fact that Brazil drew 0-0

:42:56. > :42:58.with Iraq in the Olympic football. Unless Brazil have a genuine chance

:42:59. > :43:04.of winning, there's not much interest. They're also saying that

:43:05. > :43:11.people may be saving the money for later on in the tournament. Maybe

:43:12. > :43:17.they will choose something later on, big events around the athletics. We

:43:18. > :43:20.might see those empty seats which have been angling people back at

:43:21. > :43:26.home, those are some of the reasons for it. We've got live hockey, live

:43:27. > :43:31.boxing. We will show you that judo gold medal match for you now because

:43:32. > :43:36.it does involve a Brazilian, Rafaela Silva. She has taken on a Mongolian,

:43:37. > :43:53.her name is Dorjsurengiin Sumiya. COMMENTATOR: ladies and gentlemen it

:43:54. > :44:00.is gold medal here at Carioca Arena 2. The lady in the blue, she has the

:44:01. > :44:04.entire home crowd behind her. We tour they get a look at her on the

:44:05. > :44:12.big screen. It is Mongolia versus Brazil. There she is, Rafaela Silva.

:44:13. > :44:18.The 24-year-old from right here in Rio. Look at the face! She is

:44:19. > :44:29.shutting everything else out. Her opponent, the number one in the

:44:30. > :44:37.world. Dorjsurengiin Sumiya. Took just 24 seconds to defeat one of the

:44:38. > :44:42.bronze medallists. She got rid of her in 24 seconds in the final.

:44:43. > :44:47.Rafaela Silva knows all about. The face looks like she's been through a

:44:48. > :44:51.hard day of competition. But the biggest battle is yet to come for

:44:52. > :44:57.the Mongolian. The second Olympic Games didn't get close. -- didn't

:44:58. > :45:03.get close to this position in London. In fact, her opponent,

:45:04. > :45:08.Rafaela Silva, was much closer in London. But that doesn't matter.

:45:09. > :45:13.What matters is the next four minutes. The referee will call these

:45:14. > :45:17.two to the mat. The crowd have been very respectful. They will be very

:45:18. > :45:24.keen to get involved. Here they come. A little bit keen in fact.

:45:25. > :45:34.Rafaela Silva Brazil. Here we go to decide the medal in Brazil. It is a

:45:35. > :45:35.girl from Brazil in blue, Rafaela Silva, and Dorjsurengiin Sumiya from

:45:36. > :45:58.Mongolia in the white. They have got to be absolutely

:45:59. > :46:06.revved up with this crowd. What a crowd? Right behind her.

:46:07. > :46:17.Dorjsurengiin must feel as though she has the whole world on her

:46:18. > :46:30.shoulders at the moment. That is what it is about. You have to ignore

:46:31. > :46:41.the whole world and concentrate on the job. Here comes the champ for

:46:42. > :46:54.the hometown hero. They know this book very well. They know judo and

:46:55. > :47:06.they know it very well. They have both got one. Rafaela Silva has got

:47:07. > :47:14.one as well. Oh, my goodness me, waza-ari straightaway. Rafaela Silva

:47:15. > :47:28.took her backwards there and she used her hands to drive her down

:47:29. > :47:44.onto the mat. It has gone to video referee to see it. I think it was a

:47:45. > :47:58.waza-ari, I really do, that's my call. It was a waza-ari, I think it

:47:59. > :48:11.was a waza-ari and I don't think they should give them an ippon. I

:48:12. > :48:28.think they should let them carry on here. What about the drama? I think

:48:29. > :48:44.the drama is if she grabbed her leg. I think that is something. OK, right

:48:45. > :48:57.now it is waza-ari. They are back at it again and all of a sudden some

:48:58. > :49:06.extra confidence behind the Brazilian with the waza-ari on the

:49:07. > :49:14.scoreboard. They call Rio de Janeiro the marvellous city hearing much --

:49:15. > :49:31.Brazil. This hometown lady has believed. She has a look at least at

:49:32. > :49:44.gold. It is a big moment and she is unable to get her aside on the

:49:45. > :49:54.counterattack. She is quick to look at the video referee and she needs

:49:55. > :50:06.to focus. It was great gymnastic ability to avoid the throw. Now with

:50:07. > :50:16.two minutes ago, halfway through a contest she can't go into defensive

:50:17. > :50:26.and she still has to attack. Dorjsurengiin will really take the

:50:27. > :50:37.fight to her and she knows she will bring an ippon here. Sweeping with

:50:38. > :50:50.the feet and unable to gain any traction. They will both gain a grip

:50:51. > :51:04.download. They will have a good look as they shake each other up.

:51:05. > :51:14.Will the 20th medal for Brazil the another gold? That will not hurt,

:51:15. > :51:22.there is nothing happening in three seconds, we can count it down and

:51:23. > :51:25.what a magnificent moment in the marvellous city! Rafaela Silva wins

:51:26. > :51:41.gold. She is keeping her composure, I

:51:42. > :51:48.don't know how, I don't know how she has done it all day but she can let

:51:49. > :51:53.it out now! A superstar, a bronze medallist in her hometown, Rio de

:51:54. > :52:01.Janeiro! Go and celebrate with anyone you can find! That was

:52:02. > :52:07.absolutely amazing. Olympic champion in your home country. It does not

:52:08. > :52:19.get much better than that. A well-deserved silver for Dorjsuren.

:52:20. > :52:25.There are more than two years, cries of delight. Only a few people in the

:52:26. > :52:30.world know all about that but everybody will want to share it.

:52:31. > :52:40.The crowd can't all get round there. Absolutely swamping her! That was

:52:41. > :52:46.amazing, the atmosphere in here, I can tell you now that the roof is

:52:47. > :52:50.lifted off the arena. We could give you a weather report because it is

:52:51. > :52:57.no longer an indoor arena! Absolutely magnificent. Always a

:52:58. > :53:00.wonderful thing. We always celebrate, but the silver level goes

:53:01. > :53:05.to Dorjsuren of Mongolia but there is nothing like being in an Olympic

:53:06. > :53:09.Auditorium when the gold medal goes to a hometown hero and not just a

:53:10. > :53:15.Brazilian but a lady from Rio de Janeiro.

:53:16. > :53:31.Underneath her they were looking to see if it was assisted with the

:53:32. > :53:45.hands below the belt line. It looked pretty close, I have to say, but she

:53:46. > :54:00.gets the waza-ari. What happened was she just won the gold medals so we

:54:01. > :54:12.have two stay at that, the face says it all. It was just pure delight and

:54:13. > :54:23.the emotion of winning. The 24-year-old served in the Navy and

:54:24. > :54:32.she can command the Navy now. A silver to Rafaela Silva and the

:54:33. > :54:39.winner by waza-ari, the Olympic champion. You saw the emotion.

:54:40. > :54:54.Amazing stuff there from Rafaela Silva. If you your mind back to 2012

:54:55. > :55:03.the first goal for Team GB was won by Heather Glover and Heather

:55:04. > :55:12.Stanning. -- Glover. We are looking for three moments that we would

:55:13. > :55:17.normally cover outside of the podium.

:55:18. > :55:25.We will do that at about midnight. We are on until 2am. I should remind

:55:26. > :55:28.you that the gymnastics is on BBC One but they do not have a beach!

:55:29. > :55:40.These are your headlines. Bronze medal for Tom Daley and Dan

:55:41. > :55:47.Goodfellow, Great Britain's fourth medal of the Games. They were

:55:48. > :55:53.overjoyed. Don't forget, Tom Daley goes again on the final Saturday of

:55:54. > :55:59.the games for an individual medal. It has been a double bronze day

:56:00. > :56:04.because Ed Ling also won bronze in the men's trap shooting, the man

:56:05. > :56:12.from Somerset in his third Games and he was delighted with a first

:56:13. > :56:16.Olympic medal of his career. Helen Glover and Heather Stanning started

:56:17. > :56:24.their run for gold, 37 race unbeaten and into the semifinals.

:56:25. > :56:28.And the Vidic women lost their rugby sevens semifinal against New Zealand

:56:29. > :56:38.but they will be going for eight runs medal -- British women. They

:56:39. > :56:43.will be going for a bronze medal against Canada later. And across the

:56:44. > :56:48.BBC, on BBC One it is the men's team final gymnastics with Team GB in

:56:49. > :56:52.with a chance for a medal. We will have plenty of boxing later on with

:56:53. > :56:56.the likes of Lawrence Okolie going in the heavyweight division and

:56:57. > :57:01.there is boxing on the Red Button right now. And if you like

:57:02. > :57:07.ping-pong, Paul Drinkhall make the fourth round earlier will stop that

:57:08. > :57:12.is continuing and it is either on the website or the BBC sport at

:57:13. > :57:17.which also has a list of the 24 streams you can watch throughout the

:57:18. > :57:24.day. I said I would read out some texts. Sky-blue says, love the

:57:25. > :57:29.Golden coconut, what is the atmosphere like on the beach, it

:57:30. > :57:33.looks a bit quiet! It is, and that is because Thursday and Friday were

:57:34. > :57:38.both public holidays here, we had the weekend when it was packed so it

:57:39. > :57:42.is a bit quiet, we might go out for a wander later and find a fisherman!

:57:43. > :57:52.We have had lived fishing twice so far so we will try to do that. And

:57:53. > :57:55.another one, surely a bronze coconut is due for Tom Daley and Daniel

:57:56. > :58:00.Goodfellow all Ed Ling or can you only stretched to gold in these

:58:01. > :58:05.times of austerity question we are here for two weeks, if we had a

:58:06. > :58:11.coconut for every medal, the stand could not take it! Gold medals only

:58:12. > :58:14.and may be the Great Britain women's hockey team could win a medal

:58:15. > :58:20.because they have started incredible you well. This is their group at the

:58:21. > :58:26.moment. The USA are leading the way after beating Australia earlier. A

:58:27. > :58:30.great win for Team GB in their first win and they are about to take on

:58:31. > :58:36.India and we can go straight to the National Hockey Centre. We are

:58:37. > :58:41.looking forward to this match and hopefully watching GB follow up

:58:42. > :58:47.their fantastic start against Australia. I hope so. It is the

:58:48. > :58:50.first time Great Britain have played India. England have played them

:58:51. > :58:56.another of times but probably the one team in the coming we know least

:58:57. > :58:59.about. And the one thing that is against GB is complacency. Such a

:59:00. > :59:06.fantastic result against Australia, they have to deliver tonight. India

:59:07. > :59:11.making a return to the Olympics, the women's team come after an absence

:59:12. > :59:15.of 36 years. What are the dangers tonight? Perhaps complacency, the

:59:16. > :59:21.fact that they have beaten Australia which was the first enormous hurdle.

:59:22. > :59:26.India have good players, they were 2-0 down against Japan and came back

:59:27. > :59:33.to draw to Ball. They have a youngster upfront who is played over

:59:34. > :59:37.180 games and scored 190 goals. If it becomes a running game, it would

:59:38. > :59:40.suit India. I think Great Britain need to concentrate on themselves

:59:41. > :59:44.and they will come up with the points. In the first match we saw

:59:45. > :59:52.the goal-scorers, the opposite end of the spectrum, young Lily Owsley

:59:53. > :59:58.and Alex Danson, a senior player. There is a lovely mix between the

:59:59. > :00:03.younger and older players. And not just the 16 here come the squad of

:00:04. > :00:06.31 and somebody like Lily Owsley can learn a lot from somebody like Alex

:00:07. > :00:11.Danson. It is pleasing she got on the scoreboard and I hope Sophie

:00:12. > :00:17.Bray can tonight because it takes pressure off Alex because everybody

:00:18. > :00:18.is expecting her to deliver. We are going to join Max Chilton who
