:00:00. > :00:00.younger and older players. And not just the 16 here come the squad of
:00:00. > :00:07.31 and somebody like Lily Owsley can learn a lot from somebody like Alex
:00:08. > :00:11.Danson. It is pleasing she got on the scoreboard and I hope Sophie
:00:12. > :00:14.Bray can tonight because it takes pressure off Alex because everybody
:00:15. > :00:20.is expecting her to deliver. We are going to join Max Chilton who you
:00:21. > :00:27.are going to be joining in commentary. -- Matt Chilton.
:00:28. > :00:33.The first period is just underway. In the blending into the colour of
:00:34. > :00:40.the pitch in royal blue. Great Britain in all read with Sam Quek
:00:41. > :00:53.just dancing over that. It will fall harmlessly behind Maddie Hinch's
:00:54. > :00:58.goal. We will go with the shirt names that the Indian players choose
:00:59. > :01:14.to use, some of them bear no resemblance to the actual names.
:01:15. > :01:22.Grac is known as Grace. -- Deep Ekka is known as Grace. Backend delivery
:01:23. > :01:28.to the edge of the circle. It will be a Great Britain ball. Kate
:01:29. > :01:34.Richardson-Walsh will hope to nail a couple of passes after that mistake.
:01:35. > :01:42.Picked up nicely by Townsend. Back to Unsworth who spread it to the
:01:43. > :01:48.left. Aerial ball. Poked down by the Indian midfielder. Half an
:01:49. > :01:52.opportunity emerging here. Danson thought about chasing that down but
:01:53. > :02:11.shuffles into position. Overhead, Sam Quek should get
:02:12. > :02:28.control and she does. It is picked up by Monika. Sunita spread it out
:02:29. > :02:35.to the right. Very few supporters into night. But a lot of noise, most
:02:36. > :02:36.of them coming from the cries of the players as they communicate on the
:02:37. > :02:53.field. Mel Clewlow has joined me now in the
:02:54. > :02:56.commentary position. Good evening, I'm looking forward to this, just
:02:57. > :03:04.hoping that Great Britain can play with the fluidity and pace of the
:03:05. > :03:11.first game. Danson might find a way through a backhand strike.
:03:12. > :03:15.Interesting. It has a high shot from Danson and Gisele Ansley picked it
:03:16. > :03:21.out of the sky. It was Sophie Bray on the far post. You expect Alex
:03:22. > :03:24.Danson to put that on target and she will be disappointed but give the
:03:25. > :03:30.defenders credit for closing her down and putting her under pressure.
:03:31. > :03:49.Good defending. Townsend getting her stick in. Back to the captain.
:03:50. > :03:56.Unsworth on the right. Crack further up but Unsworth goes back to Kate
:03:57. > :04:00.Richardson-Walsh who misses that trap but it bobbled slightly before
:04:01. > :04:05.reaching her stick. India are looking to play a half good press.
:04:06. > :04:11.The reason for that is they will not allow Great Britain too much space
:04:12. > :04:16.to play into, using the pace of Townsend and Ansley. They will have
:04:17. > :04:22.come up with that game plan for tonight. Helen Richardson-Walsh
:04:23. > :04:34.getting stick on ball. The Great Britain number eight. And here is
:04:35. > :04:37.quick. Unsworth. Options here. Back to quack who might choose to keep it
:04:38. > :04:54.central. Back to the captain. That has gone behind harmlessly and
:04:55. > :05:05.the Indians will restart from inside their 23. Aerial ball. Quick came
:05:06. > :05:11.forward with her stick hard. Aerial ball into space and because Sam Quek
:05:12. > :05:14.moved towards the forward, it is deemed to be dangerous, the forward
:05:15. > :05:19.was in the space on her own and Sam Quek make it dangerous so a free hit
:05:20. > :05:30.to India. Back to Unsworth who finds Kate Richardson-Walsh. Forward to
:05:31. > :05:34.Sam Quek. One of two passes going begging in the early stages here but
:05:35. > :05:42.a little opportunity developing here with Shona McCallin. A huge amount
:05:43. > :05:50.of space on the left. Driven in by Crista Cullen. Danson, trying to
:05:51. > :05:58.climb over one of the Indian players but she was cut short. On the is
:05:59. > :06:09.forced out, India with the free hit -- Hollie Webb is forced out. It is
:06:10. > :06:14.so important, the excitement and adrenaline of the first game against
:06:15. > :06:17.Australia, coming out with a fantastic win and putting three
:06:18. > :06:22.points on the board, but today is all about Great Britain and their
:06:23. > :06:27.mindset will stop can they play at that intensity? It is easier to do
:06:28. > :06:29.against Australia and Argentina, but against India, they are expected to
:06:30. > :06:39.win but can they deliver? Decent pace about the first six or
:06:40. > :06:49.seven minutes of this opening quarter.
:06:50. > :07:02.On the right, Sam Quek. Back to Holly Webb. All the way back to Kate
:07:03. > :07:06.Richardson-Walsh. They have switched flanks. Danson waiting in the
:07:07. > :07:15.centre, does not get any service and the ball is out. It'll be tough for
:07:16. > :07:19.Great Britain to break down this Indian defence, they will be used to
:07:20. > :07:25.it, good individual skills and playing tight channels will be how
:07:26. > :07:29.Great Britain have to play. Shona McCallin was unlucky not to get
:07:30. > :07:33.something along the baseline but those are the areas Great Britain
:07:34. > :07:38.need to attack. The first time in 36 years that the women's team from
:07:39. > :07:39.India as participated in the Olympic Games. The men have been regulars
:07:40. > :07:54.but it is an occasion for the women. It's fantastic to see a different
:07:55. > :07:59.team at the Olympics. Sometimes you end up with the same teams taking
:08:00. > :08:03.part in most tournaments. And for India to be here and to be
:08:04. > :08:08.showcasing what they are about, their hockey is fantastic. Neal
:08:09. > :08:12.Horgan, their coach, has plied his trade in many countries, including
:08:13. > :08:15.England, and it is good to see him with an international team. Townsend
:08:16. > :08:19.has covered a lot of ground and found Sophie Bray who was unable to
:08:20. > :08:26.keep that ball on the blue. It's drifted onto the green. The pitch
:08:27. > :08:29.and the ball are designed to reflect the national colours of Brazil with
:08:30. > :08:34.the green border and blue pitch and yellow ball.
:08:35. > :08:52.Great Britain ball, taken quickly by Townsend. Gets the return.
:08:53. > :09:05.Townsend again. An opportunity for Great Britain if they can just get
:09:06. > :09:10.something of an Indian foot, a penalty corner would be forthcoming
:09:11. > :09:16.but nothing yet. Either have a shot on goal or force an Indian foot onto
:09:17. > :09:23.the ball. That was outside the circle and I think it was dangerous.
:09:24. > :09:32.Normally it is below the knee that belongs to the attacking team and
:09:33. > :09:40.above the need to the defending team but no complaints from Great
:09:41. > :09:44.Britain. -- above the knee. India with a little bit of pace going
:09:45. > :09:45.forward but quickly dealt with and they are held up. They will get the
:09:46. > :10:07.free hit. Rani getting into the circle and
:10:08. > :10:12.looking dangerous. It is a little scrappy here. Great Britain yet to
:10:13. > :10:21.really confidently clear their lines. They will hope to now. One of
:10:22. > :10:27.the British players firing it towards another and India coming
:10:28. > :10:34.forward again. Now a chance to see Great Britain break free. Helen
:10:35. > :10:46.Richardson-Walsh appended. Free hit to Great Britain -- up ended.
:10:47. > :10:56.And there was a green card for this tackle on Helen Richardson-Walsh
:10:57. > :11:08.from Namita. That means great Britain will have an extra player
:11:09. > :11:14.for the next 120 seconds. Nichola White going backwards and losing
:11:15. > :11:20.possession. The two minute with the player over will vanish quickly,
:11:21. > :11:23.they had to capitalise on the numerical superiority here. They are
:11:24. > :11:28.trapped in their own 23 at the moment. They also have to move the
:11:29. > :11:32.ball at speed. They are doing a half good press and that is fine but if
:11:33. > :11:38.they can move it around from one side to the other into the channels,
:11:39. > :11:41.that is how they will undo India. The mistake from White was more
:11:42. > :11:55.about concentration than anything else.
:11:56. > :12:07.Unsworth. Here is Kate Richardson-Walsh with Crista Cullen
:12:08. > :12:15.edging forward on the right and lifting that up. Mostly taken. Shona
:12:16. > :12:23.McCallin forcing her way into the circle and it is pushed behind and
:12:24. > :12:29.out of danger by India. We have got a bit of noise and support in the
:12:30. > :12:33.arena tonight, a nice union Jack Blazer!
:12:34. > :12:47.Swept into the edge of the circle but cut out firmly by India. Cullen
:12:48. > :12:54.comes back. Richardson-Walsh waiting for an opportunity.
:12:55. > :13:02.Nicola White on the run, looking for the return ball from Cullen who goes
:13:03. > :13:07.for the circle, Danson might fancy a shot she can get an inch or two of
:13:08. > :13:14.space, appealing for a penalty corner but none given. India break
:13:15. > :13:31.free. Will this be a video referral? Danson is talking to the umpire. She
:13:32. > :13:35.had 20 seconds. 20 seconds. You have 20 seconds once you think there is
:13:36. > :13:42.an infringement. That is to make the call to the umpire and I felt it was
:13:43. > :13:49.up personally. I think it comes off stick and then hand, I don't think
:13:50. > :13:52.it has touched the foot. Inconclusive on that evidence. I
:13:53. > :13:57.thought it might have clipped the instep of the left shoe of the
:13:58. > :14:03.Indian player. I thought the change of direction was stick onto glove
:14:04. > :14:06.but we know the umpires have Hawk-Eye and other option is to look
:14:07. > :14:15.at so they get to see other replays, not just the ones that we have seen.
:14:16. > :14:21.Lisa Roach is the video umpire, one of the most experienced. We do have
:14:22. > :14:26.some of the most experienced umpires in this tournament and I am sure the
:14:27. > :14:29.correct decision will be reached. Unfortunately, we don't know what
:14:30. > :14:34.she is looking at. We get a couple of replays and one or two on the big
:14:35. > :14:38.screen. I thought it might have clipped the instep but it is
:14:39. > :14:42.inconclusive. There is definitely a change in direction but I thought it
:14:43. > :14:49.was stick and then glove not stick and then foot. If she can offer no
:14:50. > :14:58.advice, there will not be a penalty corner but Great Britain will keep
:14:59. > :14:59.their referral. That's correct. I don't think it has hit a foot,
:15:00. > :15:18.personally. Long deliberation but we have an
:15:19. > :15:23.answer. India ball. GB have lost their referral for the remainder of
:15:24. > :15:25.the game. The referral was rejected and Great Britain will not get
:15:26. > :15:44.another chance to go upstairs. It was a conclusive. The video on
:15:45. > :15:48.the took a few moments do have a go with that. The free hit was also
:15:49. > :15:55.inconclusive from India and Great Britain were poised to strike. Under
:15:56. > :15:58.two minutes until the end of the first quarter. India 0-0 Great
:15:59. > :16:08.Britain. The Argentina supporters are in here
:16:09. > :16:13.for a later match as well and they are making a bit of noise. They are
:16:14. > :16:21.the noisiest supporters in the arena this evening, on both sides. Some
:16:22. > :16:29.things that is what you need as a team. Some atmosphere and some noise
:16:30. > :16:33.in the stadium. India edging towards the circle. Great Britain break.
:16:34. > :17:07.It has gone other way back to Kate Richardson-Walsh.
:17:08. > :17:14.They are just about running out of time in this first quarter. 30
:17:15. > :17:20.seconds until the hooter. There will be a brief break and then another 15
:17:21. > :17:28.minute period to take us to half-time. The change of ends at the
:17:29. > :17:33.quarter, just at the halfway point. Great Britain content to keep
:17:34. > :17:39.possession. Not willing to launch another adventure forwards with the
:17:40. > :17:45.clock down into single figures now. The hooter will sound. At the end of
:17:46. > :17:53.the first quarter, it is goalless on pitch one. India 0-0 Great Britain.
:17:54. > :17:58.We shall be back to the hockey very shortly. Just to let you know, it
:17:59. > :18:02.has gone quarter past six here in Rio. At about 10:30pm we'll have
:18:03. > :18:06.another opportunity for Great Britain to add to the bronzes from
:18:07. > :18:12.Ed Ling and Tom Daley and Daniel Goodfellow. That'll be in the rugby
:18:13. > :18:16.sevens. Team GB go in the rugby sevens match against Canada. It is
:18:17. > :18:25.the three of the Olympics and these are the headlines so far. Tom Daley
:18:26. > :18:29.and Daniel Goodfellow took the bronze in the men's and grow ten
:18:30. > :18:33.metre platform. Tom Daley said he would only compete today was a
:18:34. > :18:40.chance of a medal and there was, and he won it. The other medal today
:18:41. > :18:45.came from Ed Ling who won a bronze for Team GB in the men's trap
:18:46. > :18:53.shooting. It was his third Olympic Games. The man from Somerset
:18:54. > :18:58.produced the goods. Helen Glover and Heather Stanning won the first Gold
:18:59. > :19:04.Medal back in 2012, they started the run for gold in the women's pair and
:19:05. > :19:12.Ireland to the semifinals. It is their 37th race without defeat. And
:19:13. > :19:16.we mentioned Team GB's rugby sevens women, they are taking on Canada in
:19:17. > :19:20.the bronze medal match. They lost the semifinal match against New
:19:21. > :19:25.Zealand who will face Australia for the Gold Medal. Team GB coming up
:19:26. > :19:31.shortly on BBC Four in the bronze medal match. Currently on BBC One,
:19:32. > :19:35.we showed you some of it earlier, it is the men's team gymnastics final.
:19:36. > :19:39.A real chance for a medal for Team GB. You can follow that on BBC One,
:19:40. > :19:47.Great Britain in fourth place at the moment. Before we leave you at 2am,
:19:48. > :19:52.this morning, we will bring you more boxing. You can watch that live on
:19:53. > :19:58.the Red Button at the moment. Plenty of British interest later on with
:19:59. > :20:02.us. And there is life table tennis as well on the Red Button. We will
:20:03. > :20:09.go straight back to the hockey but will break out for the rugby sevens.
:20:10. > :20:16.The match do not have a goal as you can see. COMMENTATOR: The second
:20:17. > :20:27.quarter has got under way and nothing to report after 30 seconds.
:20:28. > :20:30.Kate Richardson-Walsh is the skipper for
:20:31. > :20:59.Great Britain and led to a bronze medal in London 2012.
:21:00. > :21:11.In look lively. Three blue shirts. And some support coming as well. Six
:21:12. > :21:19.of them poised as the ball is cleaned up and pushed down the left
:21:20. > :21:29.side. Couple of Indian players around Helen Richardson Walsh. Sam
:21:30. > :21:36.Quek had to be alert. Nichola White pitches it forward. Sophie Bray is
:21:37. > :21:43.number 19. That went on to an Indian stick before Sam Quek could be
:21:44. > :21:55.involved. That was a free hit taken quickly. And another one from Nicola
:21:56. > :22:04.White. Sam Quek, backhand into the circle. Picked up by Georgie Twigg.
:22:05. > :22:12.It is so important that the Great Britain use the ball, moving it, by
:22:13. > :22:15.passing it, not running with it. I can imagine the Danny Care the
:22:16. > :22:20.disastrous treated as any and that there was no pressure on the pass
:22:21. > :22:30.and she pass is a bouncing ball which makes it difficult for her to
:22:31. > :22:35.trap. India now have six blue shirts in the 23. Three in the circle.
:22:36. > :22:51.Possession is still with India as it goes behind.
:22:52. > :23:00.Susannah Townsend. Travelling at speed and looking around as she made
:23:01. > :23:04.her way downfield but the position goes to India. That is Danny the
:23:05. > :23:10.left of the screen with the red beast ball cap on. His left leg is
:23:11. > :23:12.bouncing up and down which tells me he is the restricted coach at the
:23:13. > :23:23.moment. -- frustrated. She has got the free hit. Georgie
:23:24. > :23:43.Twigg is calling for it. She was back the way she came. The
:23:44. > :23:50.unease to be more movement ahead of the ball-carriers. Helen Richardson
:23:51. > :23:54.Walsh is looking for the option. Susannah Townsend was juggling with
:23:55. > :23:58.the ball but did not get the one. India are retreating and offending.
:23:59. > :24:07.-- defending. Hannah Macleod was involved. That
:24:08. > :24:14.was a slip up again as India break free. She just about maintains her
:24:15. > :24:21.footing. Crista Cullen did well, tidying up at the back. Sophie Bray
:24:22. > :24:26.finds Susannah Townsend but can not control it, it was another bouncing
:24:27. > :24:31.pass. Difficult to gauge a stick of the end of that and keep the ball
:24:32. > :24:37.down. The reason for the slack pass. They are not under pressure, why not
:24:38. > :24:40.just push pass it? Roll it onto someone's stick and give them the
:24:41. > :24:41.time to look up and do what rational what they are going to do with it
:24:42. > :24:51.before they received the ball. The umpire is just having a little
:24:52. > :25:13.word. Number 13 for Great Britain. McLeod pushes it forward. The
:25:14. > :25:16.British team were looking around hoping the umpire will be making a
:25:17. > :25:23.signal for the penalty corner. India are back in possession. She was
:25:24. > :25:27.accused of obstruction on the ball. Much better movement, Hannah Macleod
:25:28. > :25:32.moving from the forward line into midfield. It will be those types of
:25:33. > :25:33.movements that will unpack the Indian defence rather than lateral
:25:34. > :25:46.movements from side to side. We're going to leave this match at
:25:47. > :25:51.this point, coverage continues on the Red Button. You will not miss
:25:52. > :25:57.anything stop we can continue to watch Team GB take on India from the
:25:58. > :26:01.National Hockey Centre. Deal- zero at the moment in the second period.
:26:02. > :26:06.The reason we leaving it is because we have medal action for you for
:26:07. > :26:10.Team GB. We were telling you about the rugby sevens. Team GB lost to
:26:11. > :26:15.New Zealand earlier on and go into the bronze medal match when they
:26:16. > :26:19.take on Canada. That matches taking place and a few moments time at the
:26:20. > :26:24.Deodoro Stadium. John Inverdale is with us. Was the disappointment
:26:25. > :26:31.about what might have been the rally focused on that they can leave Rio
:26:32. > :26:37.with a medal? Probably a bit of both. The atmosphere here has went
:26:38. > :26:43.up because of the presence of so many American supporters who are
:26:44. > :26:48.waving the start -- Stars Stripes and singing. America finished fifth
:26:49. > :26:51.in the categorisation after beating France in a fantastic match that
:26:52. > :26:56.just finished. We are down to the last format. Great Britain against
:26:57. > :27:00.Canada and then the gold-medal match between New Zealand and Australia.
:27:01. > :27:04.For Great Britain, they played really well yesterday but any match
:27:05. > :27:09.against New Zealand today, they conceded an early triangle back onto
:27:10. > :27:15.level pegging but had to map yellow cards. Playing against the all
:27:16. > :27:21.Blacks, with seven, is hard enough, with six it is pretty hard and with
:27:22. > :27:26.five, it is impossible. During that period New Zealand van away with it
:27:27. > :27:29.and it would only be one winner. The key issue is that the captain said
:27:30. > :27:33.they have to dust themselves of this is a medal to be won. They have an
:27:34. > :27:37.opportunity to do it against a side they beat emphatically yesterday
:27:38. > :27:41.without conceding one is a good point. Great Britain are pretty
:27:42. > :27:45.strong favourites to win the bronze medal in this match. Just a quick
:27:46. > :27:50.word on the conditions. Down here that the Copacabana beach it is
:27:51. > :27:56.windy. You are about 12-13 miles away from us. It is not windy at
:27:57. > :28:00.all. Ideal conditions for playing. It is cool. The temperature has
:28:01. > :28:05.dropped but it is ideal conditions for playing rugby. You can tell as
:28:06. > :28:09.the camera pans around the stadium, there is more people here than there
:28:10. > :28:15.has been up to now. They have sold about 10,000 tickets for tonight and
:28:16. > :28:20.it is a 15,000 seater stadium. Huge contingent from Australia and New
:28:21. > :28:25.Zealand. The ranks have been swelled by the huge Americans who have
:28:26. > :28:29.enjoyed themselves. This is a sizeable British contingent as well
:28:30. > :28:32.and they will be cautiously optimistic about the bronze medal
:28:33. > :28:40.heading Great Britain's way in the next 20 minutes or so. The
:28:41. > :28:46.commentary team is Sir Clive Woodward and Eddie Butler.
:28:47. > :28:53.COMMENTATOR: It is an exercise in pulling ourselves together. Britain
:28:54. > :28:59.will be energised by the speeches of beating Canada 22-0 but will have
:29:00. > :29:02.been bruised by the losing 25-7 to New Zealand in the semifinal. What
:29:03. > :29:15.do you think which marks Canada lost as well. Do not underestimate
:29:16. > :29:20.Canada. Team GB beat them comfortably in the group stages.
:29:21. > :29:24.This is a good Canadian team. Seeing them in the tunnel, they are up for
:29:25. > :29:32.the scheme. It is an important two -- important game for Team GB. Very
:29:33. > :29:35.disappointing against New Zealand, especially losing two players that
:29:36. > :29:41.gave it away. Leaving the tournament with the bronze medal would be a
:29:42. > :29:48.huge achievement. The statistics do not lie and the best two teams are
:29:49. > :29:53.in the final. Rugby is rugby. This is a very good Canadian team. They
:29:54. > :29:58.are thinking, we are lucky to be here. Team GB need to be at their
:29:59. > :30:03.very best to see this home. Busy in the starting line-up from the Great
:30:04. > :30:06.Britain side that faced New Zealand. Danielle Waterman comes into the
:30:07. > :30:12.side and Natasha Hunt goes to the bench. Canada start with Bianca
:30:13. > :30:24.Farella which means they have got speed from the start. Canada went
:30:25. > :30:32.into the Australia game with more strength than the speed.
:30:33. > :30:42.Katy McLean wins the ball. Mistake by Danielle Waterman, under
:30:43. > :31:37.pressure. The ball is retrieved. Team GB controlling the ball in his
:31:38. > :31:45.opening minutes. No sooner said than the whistle goes! Ten minutes each
:31:46. > :31:50.way in the final. That was quite a tough call. I think this is a
:31:51. > :31:55.classic thing where you have the power of the Canadian team and I
:31:56. > :32:00.mean a lot of power, and Team GB have a yard or pace. They have to
:32:01. > :32:23.keep those errors to a minimum. First touch from Stacey and Landry.
:32:24. > :32:29.Outsiders Farella. A defensive error on the outside that'll cost GB.
:32:30. > :32:38.Fantastic tackle by Alice Richardson. Great tackle. But why
:32:39. > :32:44.didn't they start with Bianca Farella because she is their
:32:45. > :32:51.standout player. No doubt the Canadian team is up for this game. A
:32:52. > :32:59.tribe will be scored. Stacey from Canada. That is the danger. This is
:33:00. > :33:05.a good Canadian team. They will have a look at it. It is Karen Ann
:33:06. > :33:12.Packer. I don't know why they are checking this. That is good. Just.
:33:13. > :33:13.Sometimes you wonder why referees cannot see that. That is definitely
:33:14. > :33:33.a try. Just checking. Canada have a more powerful team
:33:34. > :33:36.than Team GB. You just hope that loss to the New Zealand team is out
:33:37. > :33:44.of their system. Because the emotion after the game was quite noticeable
:33:45. > :33:49.from Team GB. They started quite well but simple basic errors and
:33:50. > :33:57.some of these Canadian players are exceptional. A great pass by Kelly
:33:58. > :34:07.Russell and a good footballer. Five points becomes seven. Landry getting
:34:08. > :34:11.the conversion. A very good player. Good games and bad games in this
:34:12. > :34:21.tournament. They are the fourth ranked team behind Team GB. Great
:34:22. > :34:28.Britain have given away their first try. Emily Scarratt under pressure
:34:29. > :34:35.but safely in the hands of Amy Wilson-Hardy. Not releasing. Penalty
:34:36. > :34:46.against Canada. Most of the penalties in the
:34:47. > :34:57.tournament have been at the breakdown and the referees are very
:34:58. > :35:01.tight. You have to get behind and get up on your feet quickly. That
:35:02. > :35:02.was a tough call but you have to get behind the ball quickly before you
:35:03. > :35:20.play it. The referee from Australia was very
:35:21. > :35:27.quick to blow them. -- blow, then. Quickly taken by Alice Richardson.
:35:28. > :35:37.Another penalty against Canada. They have given away the penalty and now
:35:38. > :35:44.a chance for Joanne Watmore to chase. It has come to Danielle
:35:45. > :35:50.Waterman instead. Danielle Waterman was looking like she was going to
:35:51. > :35:54.run out of space but she scores. A wonderful try by Danielle Waterman
:35:55. > :35:58.but once again, it is the kick. You have to find space in this game and
:35:59. > :36:02.you can use it with your hands or use the kick and this time, it was
:36:03. > :36:07.Alice Richardson with a beautiful kick. She saw the space. Good
:36:08. > :36:16.bounce. Danielle Waterman has come into the starting team, finishes off
:36:17. > :36:24.really well. Team GB needed that. We are in for a cracker of a game. They
:36:25. > :36:28.missed the conversion. Katy McLean will come back and take the restart
:36:29. > :36:34.kick. Danielle Waterman, excellent finish. That will do the team a lot
:36:35. > :36:43.of good. This is a big pressurised game. This is even more pressure. A
:36:44. > :36:58.lot of pressure on these women tonight. Amy Wilson-Hardy. Penalty.
:36:59. > :37:02.Penalty for not releasing. It was not so good after all. Canada in
:37:03. > :37:08.possession, quickly taken by Kelly Russell. Farella. Joanne Watmore has
:37:09. > :37:14.to be careful, a good tackle by Watmore. Watmore penalised. Quickly
:37:15. > :37:33.taken, Kelly Russell. Russell again. Farella. Quick
:37:34. > :37:40.counter rucking by Watmore, delaying release for Canada. Landry finding
:37:41. > :37:46.the gap and runs straight through it. Alice Richardson looking inside
:37:47. > :37:54.and asking the question, what went wrong with the defence? They will be
:37:55. > :38:00.very disappointed with that. A real lack of communication. She just goes
:38:01. > :38:04.between them. There was a call from the inside and that was a soft try.
:38:05. > :38:15.Very well taken. You have to say that. Landry. Team GB have to
:38:16. > :38:21.concentrate. It is so important, this is a lot longer game. Ten
:38:22. > :38:25.minutes each way in the finals and the play-offs. This is where you
:38:26. > :38:29.have to be thinking correctly. You have to keep calm and think
:38:30. > :38:33.correctly. A strong bench to come on but that was a disappointing try
:38:34. > :38:39.from a defensive point of view. To step between the two British
:38:40. > :38:47.players. Game on here, 14-5 to Canada. Landry. Again, they put it
:38:48. > :38:59.into the middle zone, towards Katy McLean. Kelly Russell. With height
:39:00. > :39:07.and reach and power but it is a penalty to Britain, taken by Alice
:39:08. > :39:14.Richardson. Amy Wilson-Hardy stays up and then it is back to Danielle
:39:15. > :39:20.Waterman. Emily Scarratt shakes off Russell. Forward pass. The Canadian
:39:21. > :39:26.wedding are so physical at the breakdown. All the gains we have
:39:27. > :39:32.seen, including Australia and New Zealand, this is the most physical
:39:33. > :39:35.game at the breakdown. Team GB are rushing in defence and taking
:39:36. > :39:40.chances and they just want to play the most physical game so far and it
:39:41. > :39:46.is absolutely paying off. Alice Richardson is OK. You just cannot
:39:47. > :39:53.have those errors. A simple forward pass by Emily Scarratt, it is unlike
:39:54. > :39:58.Team GB. You don't get to a play-off without being a good team and Canada
:39:59. > :40:01.are a very good team. You have to really think this through,
:40:02. > :40:03.concentrate and keep hold of this ball and move this big Canadian team
:40:04. > :40:23.around the field. They have hit the blindside.
:40:24. > :40:30.Knock-on. That could be yellow. It is a spate of yellow cards for Great
:40:31. > :40:35.Britain in the closing stages. Of the women's sevens. Emily Scarratt,
:40:36. > :40:41.the captain, off for a two minutes. They are down by nine points
:40:42. > :40:51.already. A third try for Canada. Britain in trouble. Britain in huge
:40:52. > :41:02.trouble. We saw it in the semifinal, couple Mike Ellery cards. -- two
:41:03. > :41:08.yellow cards. The Canadians, why didn't start with Farella, I don't
:41:09. > :41:17.know, she is a real athlete. Put the ball in front of her and she will
:41:18. > :41:21.score. They can get this back, 12 points down. But we have to keep the
:41:22. > :41:36.ball and move his big Canadian team around. 19-5. There is time for the
:41:37. > :41:39.restart. This is where the coach earns his money. Just watching down
:41:40. > :41:43.there to see Middleton, you really have to stay calm and think this
:41:44. > :41:46.through. There is a ten minute second-half but at the moment, we
:41:47. > :41:52.have been absolutely smashed off the ball in this first ten minutes.
:41:53. > :42:09.Landry looks like she will drop it in the middle of the park again.
:42:10. > :42:19.Is a very scrappy exit from the scrum. Kelly Russell scores another
:42:20. > :42:24.easy try for Canada. This is turning into a serious nightmare situation
:42:25. > :42:27.for Team GB. They are just getting absolutely blown away at the
:42:28. > :42:33.breakdown. Unforced error from Alice Richardson. Canadians not the
:42:34. > :42:40.quickest team but they are powerful and strong and physically, they have
:42:41. > :42:51.completely blasted and outmuscled Team GB. This game is retrievable.
:42:52. > :42:58.It is not over yet. This is the most important two minutes of the young
:42:59. > :43:01.players' lives. Contrasting emotions on the field, only half-time but
:43:02. > :43:07.Canada have good reason to laugh and smile. There will be some worried
:43:08. > :43:13.looks in that GB huddle. You saw it in the tunnel before the game. The
:43:14. > :43:21.Canadians, very lucky to be here and say, this is our big chance. I think
:43:22. > :43:34.the pressure has got to team GB at the moment. John Tate, the very tall
:43:35. > :43:39.Canadian coach, it used to play in Wales with the Cardiff Blues, now
:43:40. > :43:47.coach of the Canadian women. This is the finish. They had to make sure
:43:48. > :43:55.Paquin didn't cross the dead ball line. Good hand off. It all looked
:43:56. > :44:01.pretty rosy or at least equal at this stage. But then came three
:44:02. > :44:07.tries. Another GB player in the bin, defensive frailties, simple
:44:08. > :44:13.mistakes, the flyer, Farella, a whole catalogue of things going
:44:14. > :44:23.wrong. The difference is the breakdown. They are dominating the
:44:24. > :44:31.game. Putting so much pressure on the British women. They cannot clear
:44:32. > :44:35.the ball quick enough. They have seen what the coach does, as is
:44:36. > :44:40.whether he brings on some of the substitutions. It looks like Emily
:44:41. > :44:47.Scarratt is back on the field. We have ten minutes and this is a
:44:48. > :44:58.massive ten minutes for this team. As is for the moment.
:44:59. > :45:05.Katy McLean, Emily Scarratt setting off in pursuit but Jennifer has been
:45:06. > :45:08.brilliant, catching kick-offs. To the extent that you wonder why she
:45:09. > :45:22.might have been not chosen. You read my thoughts. Kish is an
:45:23. > :45:30.amazing athlete, don't kick to her. But that was a wonderful take, so
:45:31. > :45:36.athletic. Kish is there to recycle. Canada in possession. This is a term
:45:37. > :45:43.of speed from Paquin again. Emily Scarratt coming back and covering
:45:44. > :45:49.and does well to make the tackle. Wow, that was a must make tackle by
:45:50. > :45:53.Emily and she did remarkably well to get across but at the breakdown we
:45:54. > :46:06.did not have the power. It is the Canadians again. Good territorial
:46:07. > :46:11.gain. We are looking at the clock now, we have to be taking these
:46:12. > :46:18.line-ups quickly. Karen Paquin in full flow. Emily Scarratt stopped
:46:19. > :46:31.it. A big throat for Danielle Waterman here. -- throw. Scarratt.
:46:32. > :46:47.Better presentation at the ruck. That'll be a penalty for GB. They
:46:48. > :46:53.almost just want to smash the opposition players and it is really
:46:54. > :47:05.unnerving the British players. Scarratt finds down the middle. And
:47:06. > :47:11.it has worked. Kayla Moleschi just counter rocking with sheer
:47:12. > :47:16.aggression. And not think Britain out of their stride. Just not
:47:17. > :47:20.playing the game fast enough which is allowing players like Moleschi to
:47:21. > :47:35.use their physical excellence to smash GB of the ball. Claire Allan
:47:36. > :47:37.and Heather Fisher come on. They are looking a bit shocked. But they can
:47:38. > :47:56.still come off. Kayla Moleschi to feed the
:47:57. > :48:04.scrummage. Loose. Anyway will do to get it back in blue hands and a
:48:05. > :48:10.penalty comes. Alice Richardson stopped from taking it quickly.
:48:11. > :48:20.Waterman slows everything down. They have to get on with this. Set piece
:48:21. > :48:26.from the penalty. Richardson, Scarratt.
:48:27. > :48:35.Richardson acting scrum-half, Waterman. It has suddenly opened up
:48:36. > :48:44.for Danielle Waterman but she needs help and it arrives through Amy
:48:45. > :48:48.Wilson-Hardy. Scarratt. Cut back against the traffic and get the pass
:48:49. > :48:51.away to Heather Fisher who goes on a long run, Jasmine Joyce, the
:48:52. > :49:13.speedster will score. Jasmine Joyce, the Welsh woman in
:49:14. > :49:19.the English squad in that the rest of the squad are English. Great try,
:49:20. > :49:22.the one representative from Wales and she took the chance very
:49:23. > :49:31.quickly. Have to take the conversion quickly. No good but 26-10, six
:49:32. > :49:35.minutes to go. This is where the restart are critical. Team GB have
:49:36. > :49:40.to get themselves really organised and demand this restart. We need a
:49:41. > :49:45.good kick and good pressure to try to get the ball back. Emily Scarratt
:49:46. > :49:49.will go up for it and she gets it. Heather Fisher. Claire Allan. Now
:49:50. > :50:01.Joyce. This is where they have to be
:50:02. > :50:09.careful but it is well delivered. Natasha Hunt goes out. Again, those
:50:10. > :50:15.little things, the details that turn the game. We have got the ball, just
:50:16. > :50:20.stay in, do not get knocked into touch and that was so easy. Canada
:50:21. > :50:24.will love that, they will play slowly and the clock is starting to
:50:25. > :50:34.go down. They have got to keep the ball in play.
:50:35. > :50:44.The Canadian forward have really won this game, they have absolutely
:50:45. > :50:50.smashed GB at the breakdown. The line-out safely delivered. Farella,
:50:51. > :51:05.straight up the middle, through one tackle. Landry. Back to Moleschi,
:51:06. > :51:16.Kish. Karen Paquin. She delivers it safely to the three quarters.
:51:17. > :51:20.Farella. Tackled by Emily Scott. We have nobody at the breakdown and
:51:21. > :51:33.they are winning the ball at ease. Joyce makes the tackle. Farella.
:51:34. > :52:00.Natasha Hunt, but again an error and the ball is lost in contact. Kish,
:52:01. > :52:07.excellent pass. Landry. Landry doesn't need Farella. This is the
:52:08. > :52:15.bronze medal try for Landry and Canada. We heard a lot about Landry
:52:16. > :52:23.before the tournament and she has had a quiet tournament until this
:52:24. > :52:27.game. Just a fantastic player and she has real gas. He had to say that
:52:28. > :52:32.Canada had thoroughly deserved this and we have not been able to recover
:52:33. > :52:37.from the disappointment of the semifinal loss to New Zealand. This
:52:38. > :52:38.is a shadow of the team that absolutely put this Canadian team to
:52:39. > :52:53.the sword yesterday. Landry is the try scorer and
:52:54. > :53:00.conversion kick and it is out of reach now at 33-10. It is so sad to
:53:01. > :53:07.watch. This is a huge disappointment for Team GB, they would have fancied
:53:08. > :53:11.their chances in this match. To lead the Olympic Games coming forth
:53:12. > :53:17.that'll take some recovery. Ghislaine Landry the try scorer.
:53:18. > :53:24.Heather Fisher, she can only try to catch the kick-off and set up
:53:25. > :53:33.something to make this less painful. Natasha Hunt. Canada have brought on
:53:34. > :53:44.Charity Williams which adds even more pace and power to their team.
:53:45. > :53:47.Amy Wilson-Hardy. Another penalty. Canada have given away penalties
:53:48. > :53:53.without worrying about the consequences because it is all part
:53:54. > :53:58.of the aggression. It is interesting, world like made a big
:53:59. > :54:06.point about being strict at the contact area which is five but there
:54:07. > :54:10.has been no yellow card of the contact area. Charity Williams makes
:54:11. > :54:22.the tackle. The penalty goes the other way this
:54:23. > :54:28.time. Joanne Watmore, it is difficult to watch.
:54:29. > :54:41.We have an injury. That will require medical attention. Amy Wilson-Hardy
:54:42. > :54:47.is down number 12. Look at the breakdown, look at Kish, just make
:54:48. > :54:52.it awful for Team GB to move the ball away. If you keep doing that,
:54:53. > :54:56.you have to be yellow carded because this game has been full penalties at
:54:57. > :54:59.the breakdown will stop Simon Middleton, the Team GB coach, he
:55:00. > :55:07.will be shattered with this performance.
:55:08. > :55:18.Megan Lukan, Heather Fisher, again, look at that, that is the face of
:55:19. > :55:26.the team that is coming forth. -- coming in fourth place. I'm trying
:55:27. > :55:33.to think where this has gone wrong but from the opening seconds, the
:55:34. > :55:41.first contact, the physicality of the Canadian team. You don't want to
:55:42. > :55:42.end up in an arm wrestle with this team because they are more powerful
:55:43. > :55:57.than us. It has been a difficult day for
:55:58. > :56:03.Emily Scarratt, the captain. They played so well yesterday to beat
:56:04. > :56:08.Canada in the group game and Fiji in the quarter final. It has been an
:56:09. > :56:19.ordeal today. The last chance for Canada. Charity Williams outside.
:56:20. > :56:26.Support as well, red shirts everywhere. Charity Williams. The
:56:27. > :56:36.ball is coming back quickly for Canada every time. Megan Lukan,
:56:37. > :56:42.Landry, outside her. Clever work by Ghislaine Landry. Heather Fisher,
:56:43. > :56:51.that is pretty good as well by the GB forward and it is Natasha Hunt
:56:52. > :57:02.who gets outside the 22. Jasmine Joyce. Within the last minutes.
:57:03. > :57:09.Again, the rushing defence of the Canadians. It is too slow. GB are
:57:10. > :57:17.stuck in their 22 and it is that aggression at the breakdown. Scrum
:57:18. > :57:27.to Canada. That is it. Canada can take their time. Jennifer Kish can
:57:28. > :57:32.look on and she can know that a medal will be going around her neck.
:57:33. > :57:35.This is an astonishing turnaround. There is always a danger when you
:57:36. > :57:41.have one team coming in with everything to gain, meaning Canada,
:57:42. > :57:46.because they were quite fortunate to get there. And the other side was so
:57:47. > :57:49.shattered about losing in the semifinals and they have not been
:57:50. > :57:55.able to produce the same performance and this will take some getting over
:57:56. > :57:58.and I feel so sorry for this team. The hooter goes and Canada will get
:57:59. > :58:07.rid of this through Ghislaine Landry. Arms raised, the whistle
:58:08. > :58:14.goes, Canada celebrate. Great Britain slump. It has been a tough
:58:15. > :58:20.day for the Great Britain team. They have finished in fourth place. But
:58:21. > :58:25.it is Canada that takes the first medal in the rugby sevens. Bronze
:58:26. > :58:33.for Canada after they have beaten Great Britain 33-10. No luck, you
:58:34. > :58:36.just have to look at it and say, well done to Canada, the best team
:58:37. > :58:44.won and we got absolutely blown away. The score does them justice.
:58:45. > :58:49.We could not cope with the power at the contact level and that will be
:58:50. > :58:54.hugely disappointing to Jean GB and it'll take a lot of recovering. --
:58:55. > :58:56.Team GB. To think you should get a medal and not leave with one is big
:58:57. > :59:05.disappointment. John Tait celebrates with his
:59:06. > :59:10.players. It is a little moment in Olympic history, the first medal in
:59:11. > :59:12.women's rugby sevens but not the one that really counts, gold and silver,
:59:13. > :59:22.but a bronze for Canada. Huge disappointment for Team GB, we
:59:23. > :59:27.will be back for the gold medal match shortly. They thought it could
:59:28. > :59:31.be their moment, they had already beaten Canada on Saturday, 22-0,
:59:32. > :59:35.that they have lost the bronze medal match and looked at the delightful
:59:36. > :59:40.Canada, they know they have the bronze medal. Will it be Australia
:59:41. > :59:46.all New Zealand who take the gold? That gives you an idea of what will
:59:47. > :59:53.be happening on BBC Four where we are here until 2am. We will bring
:59:54. > :59:57.you that gold medal match next between the two favourites in rugby
:59:58. > :00:03.sevens, Australia and New Zealand. And at about 11:30pm we will wrap up
:00:04. > :00:10.the boxing with those Team GB names involved. Josh Kelly, Antony Fowler
:00:11. > :00:13.and Lawrence Okolie who was very impressive in the heavyweight
:00:14. > :00:17.division and he is back in action and we draw things to a close with
:00:18. > :00:21.the Beach Volleyball Arena if you stick with us through the evening,
:00:22. > :00:39.one IM we will go down to the Beach Volleyball
:00:40. > :00:46.You can see the power of the Atlantic Ocean. Hardly anyone has
:00:47. > :00:50.been in the sea. You can see the power there. Where we have been

:07:15. > :07:22.-- Woodman. Charlotte Caslick runs into Portia Woodman which is not the

:07:33. > :07:35.from Kayla McAllister. Australia make the first mistake. New Zealand

:08:47. > :08:55.Seroquel scoffed -- Sarah Goss tries to go the wrong way around. A
:08:56. > :09:01.first-class tackle. Out of play. What good defence. It was by Shannon
:09:02. > :09:07.Parry. No love lost within these two sides and again, watch the tackle
:09:08. > :09:14.come by Shannon Parry. A textbook tackle. Just already the speed of
:09:15. > :09:18.the ball from the contact on both sides is a different level than you
:09:19. > :09:25.saw in the previous game. That is why they are one and two. Charlotte
:09:26. > :09:30.Caslick does just about everything, she doesn't throw that well into the
:09:31. > :09:35.line-out. A lot of applause for the small things that go either right,
:09:36. > :09:40.or in this case wrong. There is a wobbly old throw from Charlotte
:09:41. > :09:44.Caslick. It is fair to say that the referee got that dead right.
:09:45. > :09:50.Normally she is spot on and all of those things but it is a big moment

:10:41. > :10:46.defence was fantastic and it took some scoring. See the ball comes
:10:47. > :10:53.out. Kelly Brazier and Kayla McAllister have power. A try. A good
:10:54. > :10:57.start from the New Zealand team but Australia will not panic. They know
:10:58. > :11:06.they have the measure of this team as well it came from not straight at
:11:07. > :11:10.the line-out from Charlotte Caslick, one of their star players. You can't
:11:11. > :11:23.make those fundamental errors against New Zealand. This will be a

:11:36. > :11:42.Which space is Nathan Wong going to drop this ball into? Who is chasing?

:12:06. > :12:11.Better by Australia. Starting to string some passes together, until
:12:12. > :12:19.Sarah Goss comes in with another crunching tackle. Shannon Parry
:12:20. > :12:27.again on the outside. The one Australia forward quite happy with
:12:28. > :12:31.the multiple contact tackles. Charlotte Caslick takes it quickly.

:12:39. > :12:46.careful, she doesn't want to look too many passes. -- loop too many
:12:47. > :12:50.passes. It is away from Kayla McAllister. It is a straight race
:12:51. > :12:55.for the line. Australia 's leading try scorer is going to be Corp by
:12:56. > :13:02.Nathan Wong. Fantastic defending from Tyler Nathan Wong. What is more
:13:03. > :13:08.New Zealand come away with the ball. Sarah Goss gives away the penalty,
:13:09. > :13:15.having done such good work. Wonderful passage of play and what a
:13:16. > :13:21.tackle. What a tackle from Tyler Nathan Wong. That was the top try
:13:22. > :13:24.scorer for Australia in terms of Emma Tonegato, who thought she was
:13:25. > :13:34.home unclear but real pace from Tyler Nathan Wong to get back. Emma
:13:35. > :13:43.Tonegato takes the penalty. She will be disappointed because she is the
:13:44. > :13:44.flyer in the Australia side. No mistake this time, or is there
:13:45. > :13:58.doubt? Incredible tackle by Kelly Brazier,
:13:59. > :14:09.she threw her body at that one. Player not in touch. A Spanish
:14:10. > :14:18.referee. Everybody is happy. Try scored. Emma Tonegato. A brave
:14:19. > :14:33.finish. What a tackle! Go on, Clive. The try is given.
:14:34. > :14:42.Maybe a slight knock on there. And nudge. You just admire the
:14:43. > :14:46.Australians, the attitude of these two countries. They like each other
:14:47. > :14:52.but they love playing against each other and both of these teams spent
:14:53. > :14:57.four years putting these great sides together and this is a humdinger
:14:58. > :15:07.already. 5-5 with eight minutes gone. Both sides very strong at the
:15:08. > :15:12.break down. On for Australia comes Ellia Green and Emma Tonegato was
:15:13. > :15:16.going. Ellia Green is a wonderful player who was born in Fiji and has
:15:17. > :15:22.only been playing the game for three years but brings a bit more power to
:15:23. > :15:31.Australian team. Chloe Dalton missed the conversion. The restart. Shannon
:15:32. > :15:32.Parry sent back because she was in front of the kick that was a little
:15:33. > :15:43.scrappy. Portia Woodman has not had a real
:15:44. > :15:54.chance yet. Turnover ball for Australia. Caslick, looks for the
:15:55. > :16:05.gap and goes past Sarah Goss. But New Zealand regroup. It has become a
:16:06. > :16:10.mass scrap. Australian ball. I'm really pleased the referee did not
:16:11. > :16:16.give a penalty because it was a wonderful bit of aggression from
:16:17. > :16:21.both teams the contact area also no questions asked, everything given.
:16:22. > :16:25.There is a chance to get possession so they will pile in players, not
:16:26. > :16:32.worrying about being exposed on and overlap, a chance for the ball and
:16:33. > :16:42.you commit players. Exactly. Caslick to feed, get it to Quirk. She
:16:43. > :16:46.delivers, Caslick get the past out of the tackle, Alicia Quirk, was
:16:47. > :16:52.that a deliberate knock-on? If it is, that could be yellow. It is, it
:16:53. > :17:01.is going to be a yellow card and it is Portia Woodman. New Zealand give
:17:02. > :17:08.away the penalty and lose their steely stare player. Portia Woodman
:17:09. > :17:11.has been amazing in defence. Her hands on the head, she knew it was a
:17:12. > :17:22.yellow card -- steely Quirk hangs onto it and fired it
:17:23. > :17:29.long and it is a great chance for Australia for their second try! And
:17:30. > :17:36.they do! And it is Evania Pelite who scores. How well did Alice Quirk do?
:17:37. > :17:43.She held it and held it and waited for Pelite to take this. A brilliant
:17:44. > :17:48.comeback for Australia. It looks to be New Zealand's game at one stage
:17:49. > :17:52.but they are reeling it back and a great site to see this amazing
:17:53. > :18:10.athlete in full stride. A great try from Pelite. Chloe Dalton. 10-5.
:18:11. > :18:23.Australia have the one woman advantage. Not half-time yet. It is
:18:24. > :18:28.half-time! Nothing is happening. Going back to Portia Woodman, we
:18:29. > :18:34.have not seen her, she is the big attacking threat and their leading
:18:35. > :18:37.try scorer with nine tries so far in the tournament, almost double
:18:38. > :18:42.anybody else for New Zealand. But the Australians have kept quiet. And
:18:43. > :18:55.I think the pressure can get to you, you can make a silly mistake.
:18:56. > :19:07.The opening score by Kayla McAlister. You have got to give
:19:08. > :19:15.that. This is class, holding the ball in
:19:16. > :19:20.two hands, bringing them in and what a pass. Portia Woodman off the
:19:21. > :19:32.field. Pelite over the line for Australia. When New Zealand took the
:19:33. > :19:36.lead, Kayla McAlister scored and it has been Australia ever since. You
:19:37. > :19:41.can see what Australia are the number one ranked team in the world.
:19:42. > :19:45.This is top drawer rugby and a credit to both teams. I can't wait
:19:46. > :19:50.for the second half. What a ten minutes for both sides, the gold
:19:51. > :19:58.medal, the Olympics games, life changing moments for these women. --
:19:59. > :20:04.at the Olympic Games. Gayle Broughton is on for New Zealand.
:20:05. > :20:09.They are covering while Portia Woodman it on the naughty chair.
:20:10. > :20:15.They do this a lot, New Zealand, they take off Tyler McAlister which
:20:16. > :20:20.is a real surprise. You don't want to be sitting there -- Kayla
:20:21. > :20:24.McAlister. McAlister on the bench, that is a surprise to me. Gayle
:20:25. > :20:33.Broughton is the new player. That is an easy one for her. A mistake by
:20:34. > :20:37.Chloe Dalton and she has not done that much in this tournament. That
:20:38. > :20:43.is a big error. She has been a wonderful restart kicker. You have
:20:44. > :20:48.an extra player on the field, one woman up and you just hoof it into
:20:49. > :20:59.touch. That is a big mistake. Tyla Nathan-Wong. Kelly Brazier, back to
:21:00. > :21:10.Nathan-Wong. Frazier again, this is Gayle Broughton. -- Brazier.
:21:11. > :21:43.Again, the Australian defence is good. Nathan-Wong to Sarah Goss. And
:21:44. > :21:53.a big fend. What was the decision? Fair enough. Green comes away with
:21:54. > :21:59.it, Ruby Tui did well to get back. Shannon Parry to Chloe Dalton. She
:22:00. > :22:05.gets through the tackle of Nathan-Wong. They did well, New
:22:06. > :22:14.Zealand. They have taken the clock down with Woodman off the field.
:22:15. > :22:25.Gerry, cannot get a clean past -- Cherry. Not even a thought of doing
:22:26. > :22:42.anything dainty. Good switch, excellent switch, good power from
:22:43. > :22:47.Pelite. Dalton, Quirk. Cherry. Catholic, if she gets away nobody
:22:48. > :22:53.will capture and nobody is going to catch Ellia Green! Australia extend
:22:54. > :23:01.their lead in the gold medal final. What an outstanding try. I was
:23:02. > :23:05.looking down at Portia Woodman stamping her feet. She knows she has
:23:06. > :23:09.cost her side dear with that yellow card and she owes them now but what
:23:10. > :23:19.a wonderful try. It was Caslick who set the scene. Just fantastic, what
:23:20. > :23:25.a off-load. A beautiful pass to put in Ellia Green and a wonderful site,
:23:26. > :23:31.the skill level of the Australians is fantastic. And this is an amazing
:23:32. > :23:36.New Zealand team but it has been all Australia since Kayla McAlister
:23:37. > :23:42.scored. They are back to full strength now and watch for some
:23:43. > :23:47.fireworks from Portia Woodman. Chloe Dalton for the extra two and it is
:23:48. > :23:55.good and that could be important because it takes the lead to 12
:23:56. > :24:00.points. New Zealand are back up to seven as Portia Woodman comes out of
:24:01. > :24:05.the sin-bin. That try definitely came because of the extra woman on
:24:06. > :24:11.the field. Australia stayed patient and did not panic and they got the
:24:12. > :24:15.try that the sin-bin deserved. Sharni Williams Australia chases the
:24:16. > :24:21.cake. Woodman knocks on as she comes back on the field and that will be
:24:22. > :24:28.even more disgust for Portia Woodman. -- chases the kick. Just a
:24:29. > :24:36.bit of mystery negation with Manuel in front her. You can the reaction
:24:37. > :24:40.from the Australian bench. It is one of the great rivalries. Who says
:24:41. > :24:54.sport isn't important? They have just changed
:24:55. > :25:00.defensively,... Caslick to Quirk. Cherry, the switch to Ellia Green.
:25:01. > :25:12.Back to Cherry, interception, all-important. Manuel. Here is Tyla
:25:13. > :25:23.Nathan-Wong. Excellent defence. Penalty to Australia! It was all
:25:24. > :25:27.because of the tackle. Chloe Dalton. Australia have been very impressive,
:25:28. > :25:35.every single one of them, technically. Set piece, everybody
:25:36. > :25:44.into position. It eats up a few seconds. Caslick, she could go on
:25:45. > :25:49.her own and she does! It would not have been a final without a
:25:50. > :25:56.contribution from the tournament's outstanding player, Charlotte
:25:57. > :25:59.Caslick. I agree. I think this woman is the number one player in the
:26:00. > :26:05.tournament, she is the difference between these teams. New Zealand
:26:06. > :26:09.have Portia Woodman and Kayla McAlister but this lady is just
:26:10. > :26:17.fantastic and there was no stopping her. She knew what she was doing the
:26:18. > :26:21.moment she picked it up. Great athleticism, ball in two hands and
:26:22. > :26:26.absolutely fantastic, and that is now a pretty commanding school with
:26:27. > :26:31.four minutes to go. She spotted two forwards in front of her. Such an
:26:32. > :26:39.amazing athlete and I'm so pleased for her and Australia that she has
:26:40. > :26:50.brought her A game to the final. 24-5. New Zealand will keep going
:26:51. > :26:54.but this, it is slightly one-sided. And interesting, Australia keeping
:26:55. > :26:58.their main players on the field and not using their bench, they trust
:26:59. > :27:06.these women. They have the fitness and power and they are keeping their
:27:07. > :27:09.main team on. They brought it on -- brought on Ellia Green early on but
:27:10. > :27:21.apart from that, all of that gun players are still out there. --
:27:22. > :27:27.their gun players. It is a rare rolled scrap for the ball and New
:27:28. > :27:38.Zealand have it. They need to get it to Woodman. -- a rare old scrap.
:27:39. > :27:42.Kelly Brazier, Tyler McAlister -- Kayla McAlister.
:27:43. > :27:51.Ruby Tui. The burst down the middle. Nigel Williams, sister of Sonny Bill
:27:52. > :28:05.-- Nigel . Really good tackle, Caslick with
:28:06. > :28:07.another different type of tackle that just as meaningful as
:28:08. > :28:26.Australia. Sarah Goss. Alicia Quirk with the
:28:27. > :28:34.tackle on her. Nobody can stop McAlister as she goes over for New
:28:35. > :28:38.Zealand's second try. It may come too late but McAlister has made her
:28:39. > :28:43.mark on the final. She has made her mark on the whole tournament.
:28:44. > :28:51.Another wonderful athlete. New Zealand were patient. We mentioned
:28:52. > :28:57.Shannon Parry and Sharni Williams, they have been awesome for
:28:58. > :29:06.Australia. The physical side of the Australian one and two, they have
:29:07. > :29:14.been amazing. The only time I have seen a Miss. New Zealand are not
:29:15. > :29:21.going to scored two tries from here but this has been a wonderful first
:29:22. > :29:27.ever Olympic women's sevens final. A big kick-off for New Zealand now.
:29:28. > :29:30.Slightly strange that Niall Williams, having come on, has gone
:29:31. > :29:47.off quickly. Shakira Baker is on. Williams is back out there. She just
:29:48. > :29:58.trotted over to that actualised. -- the touchline. They are going flat
:29:59. > :30:10.out to the very end. Tyla Nathan Wong, Williams. Ellia Green with the
:30:11. > :30:14.tackle. Furious players now, finding it difficult to get out after the
:30:15. > :30:17.tackles. Kayla McAllister limps back into position. Quickly taken by
:30:18. > :30:41.Sarah Goss. Woodman. Kelly Brazier leads it now for
:30:42. > :30:52.Williams. New Zealand get a little bit ragged. Terina Te
:30:53. > :30:58.Tamaki is on and amazingly this is her first outing of the sevens.
:30:59. > :31:03.Portia Woodman, one of the great finishers, will have a say in the
:31:04. > :31:08.final. 24 points to 15 for the moment. Australia lead. New
:31:09. > :31:15.Zealand's third try. New Zealand score the last try. Players down
:31:16. > :31:24.everywhere. Australia have conceded a try, but they are the ones who are
:31:25. > :31:27.smiling, they are the champions of the first-ever Olympic sevens.
:31:28. > :31:32.Thoroughly deserved. I do feel that Portia Woodman is absolutely bits
:31:33. > :31:37.because, let's be honest, in this game you can't take a yellow card at
:31:38. > :31:41.this level. We saw it with Team GB who had two early on and it cost
:31:42. > :31:47.them dear. Portia Woodman, silly error, cost her team a lot. Just see
:31:48. > :31:53.what this gold-medal means. A wonderful tournament. Portia Woodman
:31:54. > :32:01.knows that her yellow card may have cost them. Tyla Nathan Wong, head
:32:02. > :32:05.down, head down, knows that it is a losing cause for New Zealand. They
:32:06. > :32:13.have lost to Australia in the final by 24-17. It is just interesting
:32:14. > :32:20.that the Australian team has been put together for four years. They
:32:21. > :32:23.were put together from netball players and other multitalented
:32:24. > :32:27.athlete and they have come away with the gold medal. So typical for
:32:28. > :32:31.Australia and New Zealand, they see a hint of a gold medal may put
:32:32. > :32:36.wonderful teams together. It has been a huge privilege to be here for
:32:37. > :32:42.this tournament. New Zealand have lost to Australia, Australia
:32:43. > :32:47.champions women's sevens. Thank you very much to Eddie Butler
:32:48. > :32:50.and Sir Clive Woodward. The first-ever women's sevens medal goes
:32:51. > :32:55.to Australia and New Zealand take the silver. If you were watching one
:32:56. > :32:58.hour ago on BBC Four, great disappointment for Team GB as they
:32:59. > :33:04.were in the bronze medal match but they lost it by quite a margin as
:33:05. > :33:09.well. 33-10 to the Canadians, who go away with the bronze. Let us get
:33:10. > :33:13.reaction to Team GB who had high hopes coming into this tournament.
:33:14. > :33:19.Afterwards we were talking to John Inverdale.
:33:20. > :33:24.I can't begin to imagine the scale of the disappointment. Put it into
:33:25. > :33:28.words. We weren't good enough tonight and only teams that were is
:33:29. > :33:33.not deserve to win medals. We gave it everything but we came up short.
:33:34. > :33:36.Can you rationalise, in the immediate aftermath, how today you
:33:37. > :33:41.seem to have played two matches back-to-back that were not in the
:33:42. > :33:43.level you would expect. That is sevens, it has happened all year on
:33:44. > :33:47.the World Series, both men and women. It is a pretty brutal game
:33:48. > :33:51.and you have to be on the money all of the time. We beat Canada
:33:52. > :33:54.yesterday, we beat them in the knockout stages but fair play to
:33:55. > :33:58.them they came out today and obviously played the way they wanted
:33:59. > :34:01.to I got the result. You use the word brutality, that was a very
:34:02. > :34:06.physical game and they outmuscled you in many ways, didn't they? Yes,
:34:07. > :34:10.Canada are always very physical and the broader game to us and in sevens
:34:11. > :34:14.if you are on the back foot you are onto a loss to start off with. We
:34:15. > :34:20.gave it everything, couldn't have done much more. You know, our skill
:34:21. > :34:24.level was not up to scratch that is what happens in sport unfortunately.
:34:25. > :34:28.It will obviously scar your memories of your first Olympic Games. Has it
:34:29. > :34:34.been a memorable experience for all of that? Yes, it's been awesome. To
:34:35. > :34:38.bring rugby to a stage like this is phenomenal and to bring women's
:34:39. > :34:41.rugby is even better. We have -- if we have inspired even when young
:34:42. > :34:47.girl at home than we have done our job. Huge disappointment for Team GB
:34:48. > :34:50.and Emily Scarratt and the men start their rugby sevens campaign tomorrow
:34:51. > :34:54.and we will cover that for you. One thing to tidy up from earlier which
:34:55. > :35:00.we showed you on BBC Four, we showed you Team GB taking on India in the
:35:01. > :35:04.women's hockey. When we left it was 0-0, let us show you what happened
:35:05. > :35:16.in the rest of that game. We will pick up with Matt Chilton and Mel
:35:17. > :35:22.Clewlow. That was the first goal, on target
:35:23. > :35:37.and beautifully executed. 1-0 to Great Britain. She is all over the
:35:38. > :35:45.place around the shooting circle. Pushing her away to Waterford goal
:35:46. > :35:49.and it is 2-0 to Great Britain. Danson has the ball and rolls it
:35:50. > :36:01.across and the keeper makes a safe and Nick White has the final touch
:36:02. > :36:06.from very close range 2-0. Ebola zero, Great Britain to hear, the
:36:07. > :36:13.scoreline. That is bundled into the goal by Alex Danson. We sense that
:36:14. > :36:19.there might be a few more before the end of this fixture. Fantastic
:36:20. > :36:24.skills. Lily uses her speed with quick hands into the circle and uses
:36:25. > :36:31.the backhand and Alex Danson will not miss from that far out.
:36:32. > :36:36.That finished a few moments ago and let us see how it is looking in pool
:36:37. > :36:40.B. Great Britain have won both of their Games and the USA are also on
:36:41. > :36:46.six points with India also on just one. Australia were the best side
:36:47. > :36:50.coming into these Games but they have no points and bottom of the
:36:51. > :36:56.table. Another win for Team GB and Richie Passat is with the captain.
:36:57. > :37:00.I am, a magnificent performance. Slightly different to the one
:37:01. > :37:04.against Australia on Saturday. How do you rate this one in comparison?
:37:05. > :37:09.Two very different sides had to play very different tactics to see that.
:37:10. > :37:13.I think some really lovely good stuff and we wanted to pass the ball
:37:14. > :37:16.and move the ball and if we wanted to do that and we did that it looked
:37:17. > :37:19.beautiful and we were able to go through them but we have to keep
:37:20. > :37:25.discipline and stay doing it for all of the 60 minutes. When you played
:37:26. > :37:29.against Australia the intensity was good from start to finish, where
:37:30. > :37:35.their lapses of concentration and good stuff as well? It is different
:37:36. > :37:39.sides. Australia very intense so you have to be as well and India are on
:37:40. > :37:42.and off themselves and you can sometimes get lowered into that so
:37:43. > :37:46.we just talked before the game about staying in our style and playing our
:37:47. > :37:49.game and we were disciplined and we did not give them too many good
:37:50. > :37:54.chances so it was a disciplined performance. Some people in the lead
:37:55. > :37:57.up to tonight 's match was complacency -- the main danger was
:37:58. > :38:02.complacency after a good performance. You must be proud of
:38:03. > :38:05.how everyone was playing. Yes, there was no way anyone will come out to
:38:06. > :38:10.be complacent, we wouldn't stand for it and the coaching squad wouldn't
:38:11. > :38:15.stand for it and the players back home with the Stanford. We go out
:38:16. > :38:20.there with pride every time. Two out of two so far and expectations will
:38:21. > :38:23.continue after every match. We don't think about expectation, we
:38:24. > :38:28.concentrate on one game at a time and if anything it may improves
:38:29. > :38:31.belief and momentum and if we can continue to build on belief and
:38:32. > :38:40.momentum things will keep rolling us. I was chatting to Alex after the
:38:41. > :38:44.match the other day and I was saying when I came up to Bishop MAPI how
:38:45. > :38:49.focused at you or where and how good the spirit was. How does the spirit
:38:50. > :38:53.compere here at rear compared to the others? Off the back of the London
:38:54. > :38:57.cycle I think our culture is something we have worked hard off,
:38:58. > :39:00.particularly in the last few years, we have spent many hours in meetings
:39:01. > :39:04.and on the pitch, talking about our culture and what it is to be part of
:39:05. > :39:08.this squad and how we behave and what is our gold-medal mentality and
:39:09. > :39:11.it goes right throughout the team and all the support staff and that
:39:12. > :39:16.is what we live for every single day. It shows on the field. You have
:39:17. > :39:20.to show it on the pitch and off the pitch. You are certainly showing it
:39:21. > :39:24.on the pitch at the moment. Good luck for the rest of the tournament.
:39:25. > :39:28.Thank you. A perfect record so far for the Team
:39:29. > :39:33.GB women hockey stars. We have 2.5 hours left for you on BBC Four with
:39:34. > :39:38.loads to cram in. Thank you for being with us all evening with your
:39:39. > :39:44.comments and questions. Do not forget to continue to send in via
:39:45. > :39:49.social media. We will try to get through as many of the mass we can.
:39:50. > :39:54.I am glad so many of you are enjoying the golden coconut. Only
:39:55. > :39:58.one so far thanks to Adam Peaty but hopefully it will inspire a few more
:39:59. > :40:01.and we should continue adding them to a hatstand in the course of the
:40:02. > :40:10.next couple of weeks. It is day three of the Rio Games, high time
:40:11. > :40:15.for the headlines. Gold for Japan in the men's team
:40:16. > :40:24.gymnastics final, but huge disappointment for Team GB who miss
:40:25. > :40:28.out on the medals and come forth. The first ever rugby sevens gold
:40:29. > :40:31.medal goes to Australia, the favourites for the title beat New
:40:32. > :40:38.Zealand, and again Team GB finish fourth, having lost their bronze
:40:39. > :40:44.medal match to Canada. There have been two medals for Britain today.
:40:45. > :40:47.The first of those came in the men's trap but Tom Daley and Dan
:40:48. > :40:57.Goodfellow took bronze in the men's sink Road ten metre platform, and
:40:58. > :41:01.they loved it. -- synchro before that Ed Ling did the business in
:41:02. > :41:05.that trap shooting in his third Olympic Games. He just missed out on
:41:06. > :41:11.the gold-medal match but he secured the bronze medal. Plenty more
:41:12. > :41:17.available out there for you to watch if you don't fancy staying with us
:41:18. > :41:21.on BBC Four, or beach volleyball is available on the BBC website and the
:41:22. > :41:24.BBC sport app at the moment, furious brushing and grooming going on at
:41:25. > :41:28.the moment and we will be like their later. Weightlifting finally is
:41:29. > :41:35.available for you also on the website. The 62 kilograms and is
:41:36. > :41:39.final with the world champion from China, who with their favourite
:41:40. > :41:42.there. If you like basketball the dream team are in action and it
:41:43. > :41:46.should be a fairly one-sided affair because they are taking on Venice
:41:47. > :41:52.whaler. That is live on the BBC website. This is all available on
:41:53. > :41:56.the BBC sport app, up to 24 live streams at once. You can follow it
:41:57. > :42:00.on the app and it is a good place for you to get online. A full
:42:01. > :42:03.schedule on their with everything that takes place every day, so you
:42:04. > :42:12.can plan your viewing throughout the day. If you stick with us here on
:42:13. > :42:18.BBC Four we will go to the Riocentro and a bit of boxing. We will start
:42:19. > :42:21.with the welterweight distanced -- that we will start with the
:42:22. > :42:26.welterweight division and Josh Kelly. He nearly fell out with
:42:27. > :42:31.boxing entirely in the last few months. He put on a lot of weight
:42:32. > :42:35.when his diet went out the window and the ever heart-to-heart with his
:42:36. > :42:41.dad and decided to rededicate himself and he qualified in style
:42:42. > :42:48.for these Rio Games. We will see him now in that bout with Walid Sedik
:42:49. > :42:55.Mohamed. Our commentators are John Woodall Richie McIntosh.
:42:56. > :43:02.What a terrific match. Joshua Kelley is 22 years of age and he has plenty
:43:03. > :43:12.of supporters in attendance here. He makes his way towards the boxing
:43:13. > :43:17.ring for his Olympic debut. The boxer in the blue corner,
:43:18. > :43:32.representing eejit... Walid Sedik Mohamed. -- Egypt. His opponent is
:43:33. > :43:36.Egypt 's Walid Sedik Mohamed. He will be 23 during the course of the
:43:37. > :43:42.tournament, if he can make it through to the latter stages. That
:43:43. > :43:45.would be a birthday present. Both of these men are making their first
:43:46. > :43:57.appearance in the Olympic Games in this preliminary round contest.
:43:58. > :44:11.Gentlemen, head up, no low blow. Check your hand.
:44:12. > :44:18.Round one. The opening bell sounds in this 69 kilograms welterweight
:44:19. > :44:23.contest. It is that the list -- it is the first preliminary round for
:44:24. > :44:27.these boxers from Great Britain and Egypt. Josh Kelly operates out of
:44:28. > :44:30.the orthodox stance and he is seventh in the world and the
:44:31. > :44:34.reigning European Games bronze medallist from Azerbaijan last year.
:44:35. > :44:39.The man who got through with a long looping right, which may have been
:44:40. > :44:43.the inside of the glove, boxing out of the southpaw stance, is Walid
:44:44. > :44:47.Sedik Mohamed, 22 years of age and racked at number 22 in the world.
:44:48. > :44:54.Both of these men are competing in the first Olympic Games here and Rio
:44:55. > :45:00.2016. Josh Kelly is a very talented boxer indeed, very fast reactions.
:45:01. > :45:04.He has got to use his jab in this contest with this southpaw opponent
:45:05. > :45:10.but he will tie and trigger his opponent off and come back with the
:45:11. > :45:14.light -- man right hook. He has to use his jab here. Fast reactions
:45:15. > :45:19.gone in and out with the feet and he has to work at a high tempo because
:45:20. > :45:24.occasionally he can lapse a little bit and that is when he lets his
:45:25. > :45:28.opponents back in. A nice fast tempo and a high work rate and he will be
:45:29. > :45:32.OK here. Good movement, bending at the waist and is dipping down to
:45:33. > :45:38.avoid the shot although he is given a ticking off by the referee and a
:45:39. > :45:43.reminder to keep his head up. Josh Kelly from Sunderland is coached in
:45:44. > :45:47.the sport by his father. Quite an arduous road to qualification. That
:45:48. > :45:55.is a cracking left hand by Mohamed, catching Kelly of -- Andy had to
:45:56. > :45:59.reassume his boxing stars. The boxes in this style with his legs played
:46:00. > :46:02.wide and is an stand by his beltline, because he does back the
:46:03. > :46:05.tremendous reflexes that he possesses but he is walking into a
:46:06. > :46:10.threshing machine blue leather here but he got through with two
:46:11. > :46:13.wonderful straight punches and the arcing punches, being beaten to the
:46:14. > :46:21.punches is the man in blue and two wonderful bow legged punches to the
:46:22. > :46:25.by Josh Kelly. Kelly of the more direct in his opening round with
:46:26. > :46:29.these shots and Mohamed is more wild, swinging the shots and Kelly
:46:30. > :46:32.has to keep their hands down a block those swings and books that are
:46:33. > :46:35.trying to come round the corner and keep the punches straight, trigger
:46:36. > :46:38.his opponent off with the jab and adjust the feet and bring him on to
:46:39. > :46:52.the right hand. Josh Kelly went through to the World
:46:53. > :46:57.Championships which was a route to qualifications but he lost in the
:46:58. > :47:00.quarterfinal to the eventual champion from Morocco. Cyrus
:47:01. > :47:07.Pattinson was given the nod for the European qualification tournament.
:47:08. > :47:11.And at the global qualifier at Baku in Azerbaijan, that is where Kelly
:47:12. > :47:15.secured his Olympic place after Pattinson could not do so at the
:47:16. > :47:20.first opportunity. A terrific opening round from the man in red.
:47:21. > :47:24.He has produced a lovely bit of skill at the end of the round,
:47:25. > :47:31.telling come in and out with his feet, what he should be doing. --
:47:32. > :47:37.Kelly, in and out with his feet. He got caught by one of those wild
:47:38. > :47:40.swings so he has to keep his hand up when his opponent is launching those
:47:41. > :47:48.attacks but it was a lovely straight right hand -- left hand. Lovely shot
:47:49. > :47:53.from Kelly. Mohamed tries to come back but he did not hit the target.
:47:54. > :47:57.Let's look at the scores. Across the board for Kelly, a great start. A
:47:58. > :48:05.very good start for the welterweight. 10-9 across the board,
:48:06. > :48:12.all of the judges favouring the work from the man in red.
:48:13. > :48:21.Into the second round. 28 boxers contesting this welterweight
:48:22. > :48:42.tournament so the eventual gold medallist did not receive up by -- a
:48:43. > :48:48.bye. That was a good left hook from Kelly will stop and a double left
:48:49. > :48:55.hook, body and then head. Nice work from Kelly. He has to keep the jab
:48:56. > :49:01.going to keep his opponent off balance and trigger the attacks from
:49:02. > :49:05.Mohamed. His hands are a bit slow but he is still dangerous, the man
:49:06. > :49:13.in blue. It is all about concentration from Kelly, bringing
:49:14. > :49:19.him on the right hand. Switching to the southpaw stance momentarily.
:49:20. > :49:26.After the World Championships in Doha where he had a quarterfinal
:49:27. > :49:31.finish, he was plagued by and trouble during his time out, said he
:49:32. > :49:37.was living a regular, young man's life. His weight ballooned with the
:49:38. > :49:43.social activity that entailed. He could not train or punch. Good work
:49:44. > :49:48.again. He became frustrated and a bit despondent as he makes Mohamed
:49:49. > :49:52.Miss rather badly. Good evasive manoeuvres but he got his head back
:49:53. > :49:58.together after a heart to heart with his father as he got back down to
:49:59. > :50:02.his fighting weight and grab the opportunity of Olympic qualification
:50:03. > :50:10.when it came his way in Baku. Making his man Ms badly. Mohamed had to
:50:11. > :50:17.change things around if he is going to win this contest. His feet are
:50:18. > :50:23.too slow. He had an opponent who is drawing him onto shots. Mohamed is
:50:24. > :50:29.content to sit back. Kelly is too quick and direct. We need a change
:50:30. > :50:35.from Mohamed if he is going to be successful. Good work to the body
:50:36. > :50:44.once again from Kelly, terrific leverage in those left hooks to the
:50:45. > :50:49.body from the man in blue. And again, Mohamed continuing to punch
:50:50. > :50:55.in wide, arcane fashion and Kelly is beating him to the punch with shots
:50:56. > :51:02.straight down the pipe -- arcing fashion. Kelly is boxing well now.
:51:03. > :51:05.He has to keep his distance, doesn't have to be working on the inside
:51:06. > :51:11.against this dangerous opponent because you can pick up a cut. He is
:51:12. > :51:17.winning the contest. The head is nearly clashed, Josh Kelly has to
:51:18. > :51:27.watch it. For me he has won that second round as well. The British
:51:28. > :51:35.fans in attendance think so. You have got to punch, adjust and punch
:51:36. > :51:40.again. Some good action again from Kelly although he gets caught with
:51:41. > :51:46.that left hand over the top from Mohamed. That was a lovely straight
:51:47. > :51:48.left hand and then he is back to safety will
:51:49. > :51:55.rather than staying in punching range. That was a good shop from
:51:56. > :52:07.Mohamed. 10-9 across the board once again and
:52:08. > :52:08.Josh Kelly is in a commanding position going into the third and
:52:09. > :52:20.final round. And into it we go. The man wearing
:52:21. > :52:25.red, Josh Kelly of Great Britain, in a commanding position after taking
:52:26. > :52:31.the first two rounds from all three judges using the ten point system.
:52:32. > :52:36.And I'm sure that Mohamed and his corner at a sense of that but he is
:52:37. > :52:42.continuing to punch in arcing fashion and Kelly is beating him
:52:43. > :52:46.with straight punches down the pipe. It is clever punching, he is
:52:47. > :52:51.maintaining the gap, his corner would have told him to box sensibly
:52:52. > :52:55.and he will win the contest. Don't get involved and that is what he is
:52:56. > :52:58.doing, heating and moving backward and maintaining the gap. Cracking
:52:59. > :53:19.right hand from Kelly -- Kelly has been carrying out the
:53:20. > :53:23.instructions to a tee so far. Concentration will be absolutely
:53:24. > :53:29.crucial here. A good right hand and left hook before pivoting off from
:53:30. > :53:37.Josh Kelly. Lovely shop right hand from Kelly, right down the middle.
:53:38. > :53:42.But he has got to keep moving -- lovely straight right hand. But it
:53:43. > :53:46.is the fighting spirit in the kid, he wants to impress. He has to save
:53:47. > :53:51.his energy a little bit but he is doing well. He has to keep his head
:53:52. > :53:59.out of harms way as they rumble at close range in centre ring. He has
:54:00. > :54:05.got to play safe now, hit and read and keep the gap. Cracking right
:54:06. > :54:11.hand once again. Stopping the Mohamed in his tracks. Once more
:54:12. > :54:21.they continue to engage in this toe to toe exchange. Cracking right
:54:22. > :54:25.uppercut from Kelly. Remember, he has got to make a point in insured
:54:26. > :54:32.but he is producing a terrific display in the third and final
:54:33. > :54:37.round. He is keen to hold on to gain some respite from the hard shots he
:54:38. > :54:41.is shipping. The difference is the speed of punch from Kelly, a lot
:54:42. > :54:47.better than his opponent who is still dangerous but a little bit
:54:48. > :54:54.wild and inaccurate. Kelly is more direct and sharper. A little bit
:54:55. > :54:58.tired now and that is to be expected, his first contest. He will
:54:59. > :55:04.have been nervous beforehand. When you get the first one out of the
:55:05. > :55:07.way, you are up and running. Mohamed progressed the tournament by
:55:08. > :55:12.finishing in silver medal position in the African qualification
:55:13. > :55:19.tournament. That was an untidy tangle. Despite having progressed to
:55:20. > :55:23.Rio, one suspects his Olympic experience is going to come to an
:55:24. > :55:27.end in the first preliminary round because Josh Kelly of Great Britain
:55:28. > :55:33.has produced a terrific display led by tee points going into the third
:55:34. > :55:36.and final round and producing perhaps his best round of the
:55:37. > :55:44.contest in terms of the power that he could land. It was an aggressive
:55:45. > :55:50.round. He mixed it up a little bit more. Not a perfect round, I thought
:55:51. > :55:54.the first two were better, but you are right, he put his shots together
:55:55. > :55:59.in terms of the power and took a few more risks. It was a lovely left
:56:00. > :56:08.hook and right hand. His best power shots were probably in that last
:56:09. > :56:17.round. The judges will be pleased. Ladies and gentlemen, the winner by
:56:18. > :56:28.unanimous decision... In the red corner... Joshua Kelly! Joshua Kelly
:56:29. > :56:33.has his arm raised in victory. Acknowledging a terrific Olympic
:56:34. > :56:38.debut, the fans in the crowd here absolutely delighted because Joshua
:56:39. > :56:43.Kelly is through to the second preliminary round of the men's
:56:44. > :56:47.welterweight tournament here. But it will not get any easier because
:56:48. > :56:53.waiting in the next round is the second seed and the number one
:56:54. > :56:59.ranked boxer in the world from Kazakhstan Open but this has been a
:57:00. > :57:11.terrific Olympic debut. A unanimous decision over Mohamed from Egypt.
:57:12. > :57:20.That must have eased your nerves. I wasn't my normal self, I have just
:57:21. > :57:27.come off a viral infection, no excuses, but I feel good. I'm ready
:57:28. > :57:32.to go again. You're not at full strength? I felt it. I was boxing
:57:33. > :57:39.with my hands down that in the last round I was mixing it. I did not
:57:40. > :57:44.feel as sharp as normal. You got a bronze medal at the Europeans last
:57:45. > :57:50.year but at the beginning of this year it wasn't certain that you
:57:51. > :58:01.would make it here. I was on the way out boxing. To get here is an
:58:02. > :58:06.achievement in itself. . And the fans appreciated it. I have got
:58:07. > :58:17.loads here so that is good. It's all good. And how will you prepare for
:58:18. > :58:21.the next fight? I will try to relax. I am glad I got out of the ring
:58:22. > :58:28.rust. That will sharpen me up for Thursday. I want to give a shout out
:58:29. > :58:30.to the people who are supporting back home. Especially Josie who will
:58:31. > :58:42.be watching. All the best. Congratulations to Josh Kelly who
:58:43. > :58:47.has a huge bout against the world number one in a few days. We will
:58:48. > :58:52.have a bit more boxing later with Anthony Fowler, the cousin of Robbie
:58:53. > :58:57.Fowler, he is up shortly. We showed you early on the that the rugby
:58:58. > :59:02.sevens gold medal went to Australia. The medal ceremony is just taking
:59:03. > :59:06.place. These are the silver medal is going out to New Zealand and you
:59:07. > :59:11.could see their disappointment. They felt they had a real chance of
:59:12. > :59:15.claiming gold and there are still some tears from some of the New
:59:16. > :59:23.Zealand players. We showed you deep bronze medal match earlier. Team GB,
:59:24. > :59:32.despite beating Canada, lost their bronze medal match. Canada get the
:59:33. > :59:37.bronze but it is New Zealand to win the silver and Australia, the
:59:38. > :59:40.favourites, they got rid of New Zealand in the gold-medal match,
:59:41. > :59:44.they dispatched them quite easily. They took the gold medal, the first
:59:45. > :59:48.time a rugby sevens medal has been handed out at an Olympic Games. We
:59:49. > :59:53.still have the men's tournament to look forward to but we can get some
:59:54. > :59:58.reaction from one of those gold medallists, Charlotte Caslick who
:59:59. > :00:02.talked to John Inverdale afterwards. That is probably the biggest smile
:00:03. > :00:05.in South America! It was amazing. To look up and see our name there, it
:00:06. > :00:20.was so special. It was fast and physical at the
:00:21. > :00:25.Spectator 's game. When you play a team in black, how much motivation
:00:26. > :00:28.is there for you? Australia and New Zealand have a rivalry that goes
:00:29. > :00:32.back in Rugby union and there is definitely that may have been the
:00:33. > :00:36.best team in the world for the last couple of seasons and we always try
:00:37. > :00:40.to match that and this season we have been able to do that. When they
:00:41. > :00:42.announced they would have rugby sevens in the Olympic Games, did you
:00:43. > :00:48.immediately think you would have your eye on that? I wasn't playing
:00:49. > :00:52.rugby at the time so it wasn't on my mind. I was playing touch football
:00:53. > :00:58.so as soon as I came across to Rugby, the Olympics was the drawcard
:00:59. > :01:02.that got me there. What has the experience been like? You've topped
:01:03. > :01:06.off with a gold medal. It has been the best experience of my life, we
:01:07. > :01:10.are so lucky to be in a team sport and do it with 11 of my best mates
:01:11. > :01:13.are my family is here and my boyfriend is here and hopefully the
:01:14. > :01:21.boys go well tomorrow and finish on a high. The atmosphere? Amazing. We
:01:22. > :01:25.have Kiwis and Aussies the atmosphere will always be great. I
:01:26. > :01:30.imagine you will celebrate for a long time, are you saying the whole
:01:31. > :01:38.Games? Yes, we are lucky our Olympic Village -- committee lets stay for
:01:39. > :01:44.the whole thing. An Olympic party! The medal ceremony is still going
:01:45. > :01:51.on, it could be the longest medal ceremony of the Olympics. It has
:01:52. > :01:56.been going for 50 minutes so far. Bill Bowman is the chairman of world
:01:57. > :02:00.rugby, one person hand that the metal and then he comes out and
:02:01. > :02:04.hands out the little memento, a little flour to go along with the
:02:05. > :02:16.medal, I think that is why it is probably on to somewhere near the
:02:17. > :02:19.second hour. We might bring you some of the Australian national anthem
:02:20. > :02:23.later because it is a good one but we will go back to the boxing now.
:02:24. > :02:26.We promised you throughout the evening we would are you some
:02:27. > :02:32.British success and we have already seen Josh Kelly win in the
:02:33. > :02:37.welterweight division. This time we will look at Antony Fowler. He is
:02:38. > :02:43.the Commonwealth gold medal winning boxer from two years ago and he has
:02:44. > :02:53.a big chance -- task ahead of him. He is taking on a great athlete from
:02:54. > :02:58.Kazakhstan. I wonder how he will get on. We will find out with our
:02:59. > :03:14.commentary team. Breathing in the atmosphere as he
:03:15. > :03:21.enters the boxing arena for the first time in 2016. He says he has
:03:22. > :03:27.trained his whole life for this moment and now the moment is about
:03:28. > :03:32.to become a reality. He is preparing to make his Olympic debut, the
:03:33. > :03:37.Olympic Games reigning gold medallist, the three times national
:03:38. > :03:42.champion from England. He is receiving final instructions ahead
:03:43. > :03:59.of his Olympic bout. The opening bell sounds in the 75
:04:00. > :04:03.kilograms middleweight division. It is between boxers from Great Britain
:04:04. > :04:06.and Kazakhstan and this is very much a case of unfinished business
:04:07. > :04:15.because these two men were scheduled to meet in the semifinals of the 20
:04:16. > :04:19.13th World Championships in Kazakhstan three years ago, but a
:04:20. > :04:26.hand injury prevented Antony Fowler from taking part in that competition
:04:27. > :04:30.and he came away with a World Championship bronze medal while
:04:31. > :04:34.Zhanibek Alimkhanuly went on after the walkover victory to prevail in
:04:35. > :04:41.the gold-medal bout and come away with a World Championship gold on
:04:42. > :04:49.home soil in Kazakhstan. It doesn't get much tougher than this. It is a
:04:50. > :04:54.tough draw against the former world champion. The only other top drawer
:04:55. > :05:00.in this division would be Lopez, the Cuban, he would be one to avoid but
:05:01. > :05:04.this cow that is an extremely capable opponent. Antony Fowler is
:05:05. > :05:08.ready for him and he has to concentrate on the right and most
:05:09. > :05:13.certainly as he comes forward and use it as a straight right and shop
:05:14. > :05:16.downstairs, the whipping right into the midriff of his opponent would
:05:17. > :05:20.work also. He has to trigger the attack. Right hand to the body
:05:21. > :05:29.attempted by Fowler, wasn't too away. When the draw came out and
:05:30. > :05:34.those who watch plenty of Olympic style boxing knew what a tall order
:05:35. > :05:38.this opening round contest was going to be against the 2013 world
:05:39. > :05:43.champion. That wasn't too far off the mark and he is using the right
:05:44. > :05:47.and to good effect in this round. Fowler said if you want to be the
:05:48. > :05:51.best you have to beat the best and he has no qualms of mixing it with a
:05:52. > :05:55.top operators in the middleweight division because that is how he
:05:56. > :06:00.regards himself, as he lands a cracking right hand on Zhanibek
:06:01. > :06:04.Alimkhanuly. Good tactics from Fowler at the moment. We know
:06:05. > :06:08.Anthony has quite slow feet, that is his style and stammer and read so
:06:09. > :06:12.here you need to bring Alimkhanuly onto the shots so it is important
:06:13. > :06:16.that uses the jab and triggers his opponent off but he has to get his
:06:17. > :06:20.accuracy and timing together here tonight, with the right hand as his
:06:21. > :06:33.opponent comes forward. Crucial that he throws it and gets the timing
:06:34. > :06:34.right. Good counter left hand by Alimkhanuly. Two shots I'll vote by
:06:35. > :06:53.the man in red. -- Salve fists of slurry by Fowler and
:06:54. > :06:58.repelled by Alimkhanuly. It is a good exchange in the closing stages
:06:59. > :07:03.of this opening round. A good round of boxing with both men enjoying
:07:04. > :07:07.moments of success. It was a good entered around for Antony Fowler.
:07:08. > :07:12.This fella had some success as well but Fowler ended around well. That
:07:13. > :07:19.will impress the judges. It is a fairly close round. Paul Walmsley
:07:20. > :07:24.will be in that corner, giving the instructions. This shot is what I'm
:07:25. > :07:27.talking about with the timing and the accuracy whereas your opponent
:07:28. > :07:33.is coming forward. We can't afford to miss. Let us look at the scores.
:07:34. > :07:36.Across the board they are favouring Alimkhanuly who takes the opening
:07:37. > :07:48.round in a unanimous fashion for all three of the scoring judges. Second
:07:49. > :07:59.out! Round two. We move into the second
:08:00. > :08:03.round of this 75 kilograms middleweight bout between boxers
:08:04. > :08:08.make an Olympic debuts. A cracking left hand and Fowler is in trouble
:08:09. > :08:14.and he is on the canvas. Some forceful books have put Fowler on
:08:15. > :08:18.unsteady legs. He rises up and he indicates to the referee here is OK.
:08:19. > :08:24.He says he slipped but he took some heavy leather there from the man in
:08:25. > :08:27.red. He is looking to hold on. He took some big shots there so he is
:08:28. > :08:32.trying to grab Alimkhanuly to bide a little bit more time and have a bit
:08:33. > :08:38.more the breeze to help him out. He has to regain his composure here,
:08:39. > :08:42.Antony Fowler. A blistering start by Alimkhanuly to this second round.
:08:43. > :08:46.The first shots into stunning round -- stud Fowler and Wally was a
:08:47. > :08:51.stationary target Alimkhanuly landed a couple more shots in a very
:08:52. > :08:55.effective combination. Watch out for the right look as his opponent comes
:08:56. > :09:02.forward. That is the shot tears falling -- throwing. Fowler has got
:09:03. > :09:06.to get the right and left hook into play here. I am not sure his
:09:07. > :09:10.balances back beneath him fully. We went forward on a previous foray and
:09:11. > :09:14.his footwork was not as adept as it normally years and one wonders how
:09:15. > :09:18.badly hurt has he been by that combination which forced him to
:09:19. > :09:22.touch down. Approaching the midpoint of the second round, Fowler has to
:09:23. > :09:29.get his head clear and his leg back beneath him. It is worth pointing
:09:30. > :09:35.out that a trip to the canvas in Olympic style boxing, no longer
:09:36. > :09:41.referred to as amateur, of course, but it doesn't necessarily result in
:09:42. > :09:46.a 10-8 around so even though he is in an awkward place he could be
:09:47. > :09:52.still in the contest, it will not necessarily be 10-8 - house. He
:09:53. > :09:56.camera compete over this remaining minute. He got caught on the back of
:09:57. > :10:00.his head there and the referee pointed that out to Alimkhanuly. It
:10:01. > :10:05.is not a bad shot downstairs from the Kazakhstan but Fowler comes back
:10:06. > :10:08.and he has to get his jab into play and set up with the right-hander
:10:09. > :10:11.wait for him to come back with the front foot and then throw the shot
:10:12. > :10:16.and throw the right hand. He doesn't want to be overreaching and making
:10:17. > :10:20.mistakes. He just has to wait. He hesitated there and it shouldn't be
:10:21. > :10:25.doing that, let the fella, and hit as it comes. That's knock-down and
:10:26. > :10:29.the subsequent success that he has enjoyed, we have seen in box in the
:10:30. > :10:34.comfort zone right now adheres oozing confidence, hands down by his
:10:35. > :10:42.beltline, up on his toes, moving laterally left and right, and he is
:10:43. > :10:46.receiving plenty of support. Fowler tries to be roused by the fans as
:10:47. > :10:51.well, working away with his free right hand as Alimkhanuly finds
:10:52. > :10:55.himself in an untidy tangle. The ten second clapper is barely audible in
:10:56. > :11:01.the cacophonous din here in the Olympic boxing arena. A torrid rout
:11:02. > :11:05.by Fowler. He raises his right arm in celebration almost by reflex but
:11:06. > :11:09.there can be little doubt that it will be Alimkhanuly who has taken
:11:10. > :11:12.the second round. The question is what will the margin be on the
:11:13. > :11:35.scorecards? It was a tough round for him, wasn't it? Paul
:11:36. > :11:38.Walmsley in that corner. Let us look at the start of the round, big shop
:11:39. > :11:41.there, that was the left-hander many walks onto another one. As it comes
:11:42. > :11:44.forward he walks onto two shots there, there is the first and there
:11:45. > :11:46.is a second one coming up. We just walks on and then he regained his
:11:47. > :11:48.composure but he gets caught again with the left-hand. Just
:11:49. > :11:50.overreaching. I spoke about it before when you're overreaching and
:11:51. > :11:54.you walk onto shots like that. Just have a look. Fowler trailed by 34
:11:55. > :12:05.judges B and C and by two for the other judge. Going into the third
:12:06. > :12:09.and final round Antony Fowler was tagged by another jab from the
:12:10. > :12:14.manner in blue and he has a proverbial mountain to climb because
:12:15. > :12:18.the man who was crowned world champion in 2013 is trailing by
:12:19. > :12:22.three points, 20-17 after being knocked down heavily in the second
:12:23. > :12:26.round and takes another strong southpaw left. The man in red is in
:12:27. > :12:29.complete control now and Fowler needs to do something dramatic and
:12:30. > :12:35.different but he just receives another whipping left-hand uppercut
:12:36. > :12:38.from Alimkhanuly. It is very difficult now for Antony Fowler
:12:39. > :12:43.commie has quite a slow rhythm with his feet but he has to change
:12:44. > :12:46.tactics or do something different. You get caught again there, but it
:12:47. > :12:50.becomes forwarding crosses his feet like that he could walk onto bigger
:12:51. > :12:57.shots. It is a tough task for Antony Fowler he has to find a power shot
:12:58. > :12:59.from somewhere. Antony Fowler, the three-time national champion for
:13:00. > :13:05.England, Great Britain National tile -- titles under his belt after a
:13:06. > :13:10.glittering career from the cadet level all the way through to senior
:13:11. > :13:16.level. He has dubbed USB experience in season three, five and six as
:13:17. > :13:20.well and he was up against an accomplished operator here in
:13:21. > :13:23.Alimkhanuly who put his nose in front in a decisive fashion, what
:13:24. > :13:29.could be a decisive fashion, during the course of that second round.
:13:30. > :13:36.That hit home against Fowler 's chin and his legs seemed to be unsteady.
:13:37. > :13:41.It is coming from his waist and he is swinging over the top. He is full
:13:42. > :13:46.of confidence now, Alimkhanuly, his movement is excellent and he is just
:13:47. > :13:51.throwing that left-hand, honing in on the target of Antony Fowler. But
:13:52. > :13:56.Fowler, listen, he will give it everything this kid. He's full of
:13:57. > :14:01.grit and determination. Make no mistake about that. Never say die
:14:02. > :14:05.attitude he has got. He is exhibiting at right now. Both of
:14:06. > :14:11.these men, Fowler hits the man on the back of his head as the --
:14:12. > :14:17.Alimkhanuly turns its back. Both of these men came through to the that
:14:18. > :14:24.-- in Olympic by virtue of qualifying events. Alimkhanuly one
:14:25. > :14:30.of the Asian and O Xian tournament and Fowler came through a torrid
:14:31. > :14:36.tournament and he laid on everything on the line to get his place here to
:14:37. > :14:43.get a place at Rio 2016. This has proved to be a very difficult draw
:14:44. > :14:49.and this is an almost insurmountable task. The crowd are absolutely
:14:50. > :14:51.jubilant because the reigning Asian Games gold medallist, Zhanibek
:14:52. > :14:57.Alimkhanuly, has produced a wonderful performance here. To
:14:58. > :15:01.nullify and neutralise the effectiveness of Antony Fowler and
:15:02. > :15:05.he is given a nod of respect. Fowler knows, as we all know, that his
:15:06. > :15:08.Olympic experience is going to come to an end here in the opening round
:15:09. > :15:13.of the 75 kilograms middleweight tournament. We gave it everything,
:15:14. > :15:17.but he was badly hurt in the course of that second round and Alimkhanuly
:15:18. > :15:20.with his nose in front produced a fantastic boxing display for the
:15:21. > :15:30.remainder of the contest. The left-hand over the top that comes
:15:31. > :15:32.from nowhere, does it come from Alimkhanuly in that last round, a
:15:33. > :15:35.boxed sensibly with lovely shots like that in the last minute and he
:15:36. > :15:39.stayed on the back foot because he knew we had done his job. It was a
:15:40. > :15:45.tough draw. Look at the draw again, you have to to avoid the Cuban,
:15:46. > :15:51.Lopez, or Alimkhanuly but unfortunately for Fowler he drew
:15:52. > :15:56.Alimkhanuly. Alimkhanuly is number four in the world and seeded five in
:15:57. > :16:01.the tournament and Antony Fowler list is not his night so let us get
:16:02. > :16:11.the official announcement. Ladies and gentlemen, the winner, by
:16:12. > :16:17.unanimous decision... Zhanibek Alimkhanuly.
:16:18. > :16:26.Antony Fowler embraces his conqueror with a warm hug at the conclusion of
:16:27. > :16:30.three torrid rounds in this 75 kilograms middleweight division. His
:16:31. > :16:35.Olympic dream comes to an end in the first round of the men's tournament
:16:36. > :16:42.but the man bowing to all sides of the arena and taking the applause of
:16:43. > :16:45.the ground, Zhanibek Alimkhanuly, he goes through to the second round and
:16:46. > :16:50.Antony Fowler is eliminated in his opening bout of the tournament.
:16:51. > :16:54.Heartbreak for the man from Liverpool who gave it everything but
:16:55. > :17:00.it was not good enough on his Olympic debut. Not the result you
:17:01. > :17:06.would have wanted but how did you assess it? I came out well and
:17:07. > :17:09.started boxing nice, I won the first round, second round he caught me
:17:10. > :17:15.heavy and that changed the fight. I was chasing about a bit. That is
:17:16. > :17:18.where it went wrong. But apart from that, I did all right committee is
:17:19. > :17:23.world champion and I mixed it with him. It shows you how tough the draw
:17:24. > :17:28.can be. Europe at the fifth seed in the opening bout. And he is world
:17:29. > :17:37.champion, I knew it would be a difficult fight. It's just the way
:17:38. > :17:42.it goes. How much did the injuries you said that in the run-up effect
:17:43. > :17:49.your fitness and form? I was a bit daft, I was on it quad bike. It was
:17:50. > :17:53.a stupid error bought up my shoulder has been sought for two months. I've
:17:54. > :18:00.got no one to blame but myself. What next? I will take a bit of time off
:18:01. > :18:04.and then turn professional. Can you tell us who you might be signing
:18:05. > :18:13.for? Whoever gives me the most money! That's fair enough!
:18:14. > :18:19.To see him smiling. We will try to bring you the fight from Lawrence
:18:20. > :18:24.Okolie before we go off air. But took up boxing would you like to see
:18:25. > :18:29.some live circuit training on the beach? It is going on behind us. It
:18:30. > :18:36.has just gone eight o'clock at night. This has been going on for
:18:37. > :18:42.about 20 minutes. It does become a bit more active. The fellow in the
:18:43. > :18:52.green top is the leader. Can you see that muscle vest behind? That has
:18:53. > :18:58.got to be one of the great vest! He's having a water break. There is
:18:59. > :19:06.some excellent lunging going on. Not sure what's in the backpack but it
:19:07. > :19:10.looks unique. I suppose Copacabana beach is not a bad gym. We often
:19:11. > :19:15.tell you how busy it is through the day and during the night as well.
:19:16. > :19:27.There is a game I want to bring you live which is called fresco ball. It
:19:28. > :19:31.is about having a partner I'm told and the end of the game is not
:19:32. > :19:35.trying to beat the person you are hitting the ball at but to keep the
:19:36. > :19:39.rally going and some of them get quite close and they leather it at
:19:40. > :19:47.each other! Thank you for all of your messages. We are using the
:19:48. > :19:51.hashtag BBC Rio 2016. A lot of people are interested in our golden
:19:52. > :19:57.coconuts. If you are just joining us, every time somebody from Team GB
:19:58. > :20:04.went a gold medal, we will scrape it Best spray-painted a coconut and
:20:05. > :20:10.have the winner on. And we will get a member of the crowd to come up and
:20:11. > :20:14.plant it on our stand. We have made a sign and everything and hopefully
:20:15. > :20:19.by the end we will have quite a collection of coconuts. Tom has been
:20:20. > :20:23.in touch. We were saying that this is normally called fisherman's
:20:24. > :20:27.corner but he says he has spent the last ten minutes looking for a
:20:28. > :20:35.frozen food item called Fisherman's corner but to no avail. Maybe we
:20:36. > :20:40.could launch that! And the tall Guy says come all this talk about the
:20:41. > :20:44.rugby sevens and the gymnasts finishing in fourth place, don't
:20:45. > :20:53.panic, worst joke so far, hopefully Team GB can go forth and prosper.
:20:54. > :21:09.That is just useless. But I think it does class as Copaca-banter! You can
:21:10. > :21:14.follow us on BBC One as well. We are trying to bring you up to date with
:21:15. > :21:19.everything on BBC Four and we will have that Lawrence Okolie fight
:21:20. > :21:24.later but Shirley Robertson is covering the sailing for us and we
:21:25. > :21:29.will have an update on what has been happening in the sailing. Down the
:21:30. > :21:34.other end of the beach is Sugarloaf Mountain and on the other side of
:21:35. > :21:44.that is where the sailing is taking place. And there are ten disciplines
:21:45. > :21:48.in sailing. If you look at the standings and the build-up, eight of
:21:49. > :21:53.the ten categories, Team GB had a good shout of a medal. The first day
:21:54. > :21:57.was today and Shirley Robinson can bring us up to date.
:21:58. > :22:07.The Olympic sailing has kicked off in the beautiful when Boro babe with
:22:08. > :22:15.ten medals up for grabs. In Sydney, Athens and Beijing Team GB held the
:22:16. > :22:24.top spot -- Guanabara Bay. And there is a new group of talent here in
:22:25. > :22:29.Rio. It is day one of the sailing and we have four event starting with
:22:30. > :22:32.the winter thing for men and women and the single-handed men and women
:22:33. > :22:37.with all four classes giving is realistic medal hopes. We have Nick
:22:38. > :22:41.Dempsey who will be our most decorated Olympian, he has been to
:22:42. > :22:45.the games five tonnes but his first Saint Sydney and he has won eight
:22:46. > :22:50.silver medal in 2012 and a bronze or swell orthopaedist looking for a
:22:51. > :22:54.gold to complete his set. Bryony Shaw got bronze in Beijing, a bit
:22:55. > :22:58.under the weather for London so did not get the result she wanted but
:22:59. > :23:03.she is determined to go better. And in the later events, men and women,
:23:04. > :23:10.we are actually the world champion in both of those events -- laser.
:23:11. > :23:18.Nick Thompson has a great opportunity to get on the podium.
:23:19. > :23:20.Four tatters, four solid prospect and Nick Dempsey is looking for a
:23:21. > :23:35.complete set of Olympic medals. To come back for a fifth Olympics,
:23:36. > :23:42.that is quite a feat. You must have felt that you still had it in you to
:23:43. > :23:47.win a gold medal. I think that comes and goes sometimes I do and
:23:48. > :23:53.sometimes I don't but at the moment I do which is great but maybe a year
:23:54. > :23:58.ago might have... I might have come if I was on said it was difficult.
:23:59. > :24:03.Just to get to where you know you have to be to win a gold medal, it
:24:04. > :24:06.is a pretty high level. And I haven't always thought it was
:24:07. > :24:11.possible but right now I feel brilliant and I'm sailing better
:24:12. > :24:17.than ever probably lost its good. Sometimes it's good and sometimes
:24:18. > :24:25.it's difficult. Talk to me about the form guide in the RS:X men. And how
:24:26. > :24:32.you are sitting. It depends who you ask! There are probably six people
:24:33. > :24:35.here who can win and it is a question of who put the best week
:24:36. > :24:45.together and who can rise to the challenge. After 20 years of Olympic
:24:46. > :24:53.sailing, how exciting is this moment just before you are about to go out
:24:54. > :24:59.and start? A lot more exciting than I thought it would be. It is all
:25:00. > :25:08.possible and that is exciting to me and I am definitely in a good place
:25:09. > :25:12.right now. A calm and confident Nick Dempsey who began his quest for gold
:25:13. > :25:16.at 1pm and he was in emphatic form, leading the first race from start to
:25:17. > :25:18.finish. We join it in the second race at halfway with commentary from
:25:19. > :25:29.Ian Walker and Niall Myant is. Nick Dempsey very confident about
:25:30. > :25:34.his strategy, he knows he wants the left-hand side and he is happy to be
:25:35. > :25:42.the furthest out to the left. And you can see some of the laser men is
:25:43. > :25:50.out on the course. They are now getting a bit tangled up in the
:25:51. > :25:56.other courses. Byron Kokkalanis of Greece pushes the racing right to
:25:57. > :26:02.the left-hand side, hard over on the left-hand side of the course. And a
:26:03. > :26:10.quick tack and he holds onto second place at the moment. Nick Dempsey of
:26:11. > :26:14.Great Britain is leading the second race in the men's windsurfing. A
:26:15. > :26:19.quick look behind to see who is following but the only boat nearby
:26:20. > :26:23.is Byron Kokkalanis of Greece but look at the distance, there is
:26:24. > :26:29.nobody putting pressure on Dempsey at the moment. He just looks so
:26:30. > :26:34.casual. I get when you have been doing it for 20 years at the highest
:26:35. > :26:41.level, that is what you look like. He has got a commanding lead in the
:26:42. > :26:47.race at the moment. One tack onto starboard. And he wanted the board
:26:48. > :26:51.up into the top of the course for the final time, the run to the
:26:52. > :26:59.bottom of the course and into the finish. All that is standing between
:27:00. > :27:04.him and another race victory. Nick Dempsey of Great Britain makes his
:27:05. > :27:10.way down to the bottom of the course. And the second race of the
:27:11. > :27:15.men's windsurfing goes the wake of the 35-year-old British sailor as
:27:16. > :27:19.Nick Dempsey takes another victory in Rio.
:27:20. > :27:26.He almost made it three in the third and final race but at the finish for
:27:27. > :27:34.second behind Dorian van Rijsselberghe. What a great day for
:27:35. > :27:42.Nick Dempsey, two first and second, a great start to his regatta. It was
:27:43. > :27:48.a dream start really. I had good start off the line but I was just
:27:49. > :27:53.fast so that's good, it's brilliant. If you are fast and out in front, it
:27:54. > :27:58.is pretty simple also but we are three races into a 13 race series
:27:59. > :28:05.but it is a confidence builder. It is brilliant, what you would dream
:28:06. > :28:11.of as a start for your Olympics. It was a story of huge contrast on the
:28:12. > :28:16.Sugarloaf racetrack with Bryony Shaw having a day she will want to forget
:28:17. > :28:20.with seventh place in race one followed by a swim at the start of
:28:21. > :28:22.the second and the third had not go much better as she came a law --
:28:23. > :28:32.came ashore. I had a technical problem on my kit
:28:33. > :28:39.before the start so I missed the start. I had to tack out and I
:28:40. > :28:47.caught back. Through the race. And the third race... I was doing really
:28:48. > :28:50.well, I was second, I got a good start, went around the mark and I
:28:51. > :29:06.caught a bag on my Finn. -- fin. So I'd catapulted because I
:29:07. > :29:13.came to a dead stop and I had to recover my sail, and I don't know
:29:14. > :29:20.how many girls passed me but I went from second to wherever. A nightmare
:29:21. > :29:23.day. On the laser course, both British sailors arrived in Rio as
:29:24. > :29:28.reigning champions but it will need to improve to have a chance to
:29:29. > :29:34.compete for a medal in a week's time. Nick Thompson. Himself out of
:29:35. > :29:41.some difficult situations and ended in 11th overall. Alison Young scored
:29:42. > :29:50.13th in her first race. We join the second race just before the start. A
:29:51. > :29:54.lovely start by the Lithuanian and a nice start, and great to see the
:29:55. > :30:02.Cayman Islands sailor, the young 18-year-old. And a recovery already
:30:03. > :30:06.for Anneliese Murphy of Ireland who has been forced to tack out. She
:30:07. > :30:07.might have wanted that right-hand side, that was what she was working
:30:08. > :30:14.so hard. But not a front row start. Young was deep in the pack by the
:30:15. > :30:27.second mark. Heading on to the left-hand side,
:30:28. > :30:34.following the sailor from Denmark. And by the end she had not made much
:30:35. > :30:40.headway in a race won by the Lithuanian. She crosses the finish
:30:41. > :30:42.line in the second race of the women's 1-person Dinky, acrobatic
:30:43. > :30:49.performance on the water. She takes first place.
:30:50. > :31:06.Young crossed the line in 18th. At the top of the table Xu Lijia was
:31:07. > :31:13.making a great defence of her title. Are you disappointed? Not my best
:31:14. > :31:18.art were regatta but there's plenty more to go. It has been a
:31:19. > :31:23.challenging start for some of Team GB 's medal hope fields. This venue
:31:24. > :31:27.was never going to be straightforward. For Nick Dempsey
:31:28. > :31:32.there is plenty of racing to go, but what a dream start to his Olympic
:31:33. > :31:36.regatta. We will have plenty more from surely
:31:37. > :31:41.over the course of the Olympics. Bryony Shaw was talking about how a
:31:42. > :31:45.plastic bag affected her when she was out on her boat and reading
:31:46. > :31:50.statistics about what goes into the bay where they are saying at the
:31:51. > :31:54.moment -- sailing at the moment. Only 50% of these so which goes
:31:55. > :31:57.untreated Mac can go into that Burley where they are actually
:31:58. > :32:01.having the Olympic sailing regatta which is one of the issues and
:32:02. > :32:09.something the failures have been discussing for weeks in the build-up
:32:10. > :32:12.to this event, and Shirley was talking only about how the tide was
:32:13. > :32:15.moving today which made it quite a clear day and most of the rubbish
:32:16. > :32:19.had been taken away but it can be very difficult for some of the
:32:20. > :32:23.sailors and it is something that may be an issue in the coming days. We
:32:24. > :32:28.talked about these Games and reflecting back on what happened a
:32:29. > :32:32.few years ago, and in 2012 in Weymouth three of the gold medals in
:32:33. > :32:37.Weymouth went to Australians. We have had one Australian gold medal
:32:38. > :32:41.tonight in the rugby sevens, not the sailing, it is their fourth of the
:32:42. > :32:52.Olympic Games and we showed you the longest medal ceremony on and we
:32:53. > :32:54.promised you a bit of the Australian national anthem so here they are
:32:55. > :33:15.winning the first rugby sevens gold in the history of the Olympics.
:33:16. > :34:07.Ladies and gentlemen, the Olympic gold medallist... New Zealand took
:34:08. > :34:11.the silver and Canada the bronze and Team GB just missed out by losing
:34:12. > :34:17.the bronze medal match to Canada, having beaten earlier in the pool
:34:18. > :34:21.matches by 22-0. We're on BBC Four for another hour and a half or so
:34:22. > :34:25.with beach volleyball coming up for you a bit later on. We say this a
:34:26. > :34:30.lot but thank you very much for all the social media stuff you are
:34:31. > :34:47.sending our way, using the hash tag #bbcrio2016. Copaca-banter is going
:34:48. > :34:53.down very well. This woman says she has just grown since we launched it.
:34:54. > :34:56.What on earth are you doing? That comes from Michael. We're just
:34:57. > :35:00.having a bit of fun here passed inside on BBC Four and hopefully you
:35:01. > :35:06.are enjoying yourself as well. We're bringing you all of the medals and
:35:07. > :35:10.we have two bronze medals today as well as a gold and silver yesterday
:35:11. > :35:14.and the Olympics is about fun and inspiring the next generation and if
:35:15. > :35:19.you can't inspire them with a bit of Copaca-banter then, do you know
:35:20. > :35:24.what, that is it, I'm off! Paul has just turned off the telly! It is
:35:25. > :35:28.because Copaca-banter is being repeated. Well, goodbye! You will
:35:29. > :35:33.miss some amazing weightlifting and you will be disappointed when your
:35:34. > :35:41.friends tell you that you did not stay awake for the men's 62
:35:42. > :35:46.kilograms final, and there was a bit of drama coming up to this because
:35:47. > :35:55.the favourite for the gold medal cramped up in the early round and
:35:56. > :36:03.had to drop out. Chen Lijun. Now let us go weightlifting.
:36:04. > :36:15.His final attempt would put him into fourth. Does he have the legs to
:36:16. > :36:22.push? Get it there! Does he have anything left. That is an
:36:23. > :36:26.adjustment. It is OK. He has gone. What you don't want to see is him
:36:27. > :36:30.collapsing underneath the weight. He has put it down in time that he is
:36:31. > :36:52.safe and OK. A really tremendous effort. So, just three of them left
:36:53. > :37:02.now. We have Farkhad Kharki of Kazakhstan and Eko Yuli Irawan of
:37:03. > :37:17.Indonesia. Eko Yuli Irawan is going to go at 175. Farkhad Kharki has
:37:18. > :37:25.lifted 177 and he has a bit of work to do because he was seven kilos
:37:26. > :37:30.behind after the snatch. Unless he pulls out something absolutely
:37:31. > :37:41.miraculous you would think that the battle is between the other two. He
:37:42. > :37:45.has played this board very well and Eko Yuli Irawan has to come out one
:37:46. > :37:57.kilo heavier. They have all used up their automatic changes. Eko Yuli
:37:58. > :38:00.Irawan has just gone up to 176 and that will force everyone out. He
:38:01. > :38:14.doesn't have the option to change again.
:38:15. > :38:27.Remember this is just his second attempt so he has another attempt.
:38:28. > :38:42.This represents a personal best. One kilo.
:38:43. > :38:57.This would put him in the lead. That looks a struggle. No. Oh, he is
:38:58. > :39:01.under pressure now. If you hear any cheers, that is from the Colombians.
:39:02. > :39:09.It gives them are a bit of breathing space. Remember, he is a heavy of
:39:10. > :39:12.the two lifters. I think we will see Oscar Figueroa coming out on the
:39:13. > :39:17.same weight which will force Eko Yuli Irawan even heavy on his third
:39:18. > :39:21.and final attempt. I am not sure he has the legs to stand with anymore
:39:22. > :39:23.so this could be the left for the gold-medal, certainly it will
:39:24. > :39:41.confirm his lead. So the bronze is safe with Farkhad
:39:42. > :39:46.Kharki of Kazakhstan. The arguments over silver and gold are between
:39:47. > :39:55.these two men. He has two lifts left and, of course, one more left for
:39:56. > :39:57.Eko Yuli Irawan. Waiting for quiet. So this is to put himself in first
:39:58. > :40:21.place. It is there. He extends his lead. He
:40:22. > :40:27.has laid the gauntlet down, catch me if you can. He still needs to stay
:40:28. > :40:35.focused just in case one of these guys will attempt to upset the
:40:36. > :40:39.party. We will not stay with that for too long because you can
:40:40. > :40:43.continue to watch that over on BBC One, because we have been promising
:40:44. > :40:49.you for much of the night that we're going to show you Lawrence Okolie
:40:50. > :40:53.fighting in his round of 16 of the men's heavyweight. If you want to
:40:54. > :40:57.watch that without the world champion, you will find a surprise
:40:58. > :41:01.in that and it is on BBC One. If there is anything else you want to
:41:02. > :41:06.stay across there is a full list of everything that is available on up
:41:07. > :41:12.to 24 streams on any one time and you can see that via the BBC sport
:41:13. > :41:17.app. On both of those there is a really handy schedule. On the
:41:18. > :41:20.right-hand side of the page there is every event that is on in the day
:41:21. > :41:24.and you can plan your viewing around what you would like to watch over
:41:25. > :41:30.the course of the day and we will be showing you that in the next few
:41:31. > :41:35.weeks on BBC Four and BBC One. We will go back to the boxing now and
:41:36. > :41:39.we had the opening about the Lawrence Okolie on Saturday night
:41:40. > :41:44.and he was really impressive but he faces a very stiff test from
:41:45. > :41:49.Erislandy Savon. He is a very well-known name in amateur boxing
:41:50. > :41:53.because he is the nephew of the three-time Olympic medallist and he
:41:54. > :41:58.stopped Lawrence Okolie in the first round of their bout back in June.
:41:59. > :42:02.How will Lawrence Okolie get on this time around? We will join our
:42:03. > :42:12.commentary team of Richie Woodhall and Ron Macintosh.
:42:13. > :42:19.Entering the arena in confident fashion for the second time here in
:42:20. > :42:24.Rio 2016 is Great Britain boss Matt Lawrence Okolie, just 23 years of
:42:25. > :42:31.age. He had a really impressive when in the opening round of this
:42:32. > :42:38.tournament over a Polish fighter and his reward for that victory is a
:42:39. > :42:43.place in the second round. It is against the second rack and boxer in
:42:44. > :42:49.the tournament, the number two seed, and a man who comes from a famous
:42:50. > :42:54.fighting family because Erislandy Savon from Cuba is the nephew of the
:42:55. > :43:07.Olympic icon and the legendary heavyweight and three-time Gold
:43:08. > :43:13.heavyweight -- gold medallist in a heavyweight competition, Felix
:43:14. > :43:16.Savon. He gave and teenage Oshawa a great fight before he took gold and
:43:17. > :43:26.then he slims down to 91 kilograms and these two men met in World
:43:27. > :43:31.Series boxing back in May and Erislandy Savon stopped his man in
:43:32. > :43:34.the opening round. He is a talent, isn't he? Kohli knows all about him
:43:35. > :43:52.but he is confident that is main thing. -- Kohli.
:43:53. > :44:03.The boxer in the blue corner, representing Cuba... Erislandy
:44:04. > :44:13.Savon. OK, gentlemen, no holding, keep your
:44:14. > :44:30.heads up, keep your backs up. Good luck.
:44:31. > :44:37.We are in the 91 kilograms heavyweight division. This is the
:44:38. > :44:42.second preliminary round. The man wearing blue, who has just taken an
:44:43. > :44:46.arc in my hand over the top, is Cuba 's Erislandy Savon, 26 years of age
:44:47. > :44:51.and ranked number two in the world, the tournament number two seed. The
:44:52. > :44:55.reigning World Championship silver medallist at 91 kilograms and his
:44:56. > :45:02.opponent, 23 old Lawrence Okolie from east London, one of a ten man
:45:03. > :45:07.British boxing team, two women in a 12 strong British boxing squad as
:45:08. > :45:11.well. When these two men met in May... Once again a cracking right
:45:12. > :45:15.hand has put Lawrence Okolie onto the canvas and it is another
:45:16. > :45:18.calamitous start for the man in red who was dropped three times in the
:45:19. > :45:24.opening round of their World Series boxing match up and he is on the
:45:25. > :45:29.canvas for the fourth time in this, his second meeting against Erislandy
:45:30. > :45:34.Savon, a terrible start for Okolie. Yes, he was caught with a big right
:45:35. > :45:39.hand. What he has to do is jabber and move off to his right. If he
:45:40. > :45:44.moves to its lefty walks onto the right and so he has to steady
:45:45. > :45:48.himself and get behind his jab. Move away from that dangerous shot of the
:45:49. > :45:53.Cuban. He has made a terrible start by he has recovered again now so he
:45:54. > :45:57.has to get back to using that and get back to being positive. We came
:45:58. > :46:00.back into the conflict -- they came into the contest in confident mood
:46:01. > :46:02.and he has to return to that and make no more mistakes and keep it
:46:03. > :46:15.long range. He beat three boxes on his way to
:46:16. > :46:21.secure his passage to this Olympics. He is facing the world number one
:46:22. > :46:27.for the third time in three months. Those victories show you his talent.
:46:28. > :46:29.But he is just a baby in a league International boxing terms whereas
:46:30. > :46:37.Erislandy Savon has been competing at elite international level. His
:46:38. > :46:43.sole global title was a world youth championship gold in 2008. At that
:46:44. > :46:46.time Lawrence Okolie had no thought whatsoever about entering the sport
:46:47. > :46:51.of boxing but he did so after seeing Anthony Joshua winning gold and he
:46:52. > :46:57.discovered his immense talent but he is facing a man of incredible talent
:46:58. > :47:03.and heaps of experience. Believe it or not, the most important shot for
:47:04. > :47:07.Okolie is his jab, it has to be accurate and hit the target because
:47:08. > :47:13.if it misses it allows someone to come back with the right hand. It
:47:14. > :47:17.has got to go out and keep the Cuban at bay, it has to be fast and
:47:18. > :47:30.accurate and hit the target and then bring the right-hand interplay.
:47:31. > :47:41.Santon is just struggling a little bit to close down the gap because
:47:42. > :47:50.Okolie has recovered. -- sav on -- Savon. He was dropped by a lovely,
:47:51. > :47:54.long straight right, so calm and in control in the ring and so far
:47:55. > :47:59.Okolie has done nothing to take him out of his rhythm. It was a good
:48:00. > :48:04.right hand over the top. Let's have another look. Savon moves in and he
:48:05. > :48:13.just catches him off-balance little bit. He left his left hand out
:48:14. > :48:19.slightly. A little bit slower. It will be across the board for the
:48:20. > :48:21.Cuban. No questions. But he has recovered and it was a good positive
:48:22. > :48:38.end to the round for Okolie. Into the second round, Lawrence
:48:39. > :48:43.Okolie of Great Britain immediately onto the front foot after conceding
:48:44. > :48:48.the opening round across the board, 10-9 in favour of the second-ranked
:48:49. > :48:53.boxer in the world. That was a good right hand and it staggered Savon
:48:54. > :48:58.whose stance betrayed him momentarily but he has got it back
:48:59. > :49:04.now. He comes back with a long left-hand and right over the top but
:49:05. > :49:10.Okolie is growing in confidence and finding his range. That is better,
:49:11. > :49:15.the jubilant are not invincible, they will stagette if you hit them
:49:16. > :49:21.on the chin! A great white hand, long-range, more of it please,
:49:22. > :49:28.Lawrence Okolie. All they said this contest has taken on a bit more an
:49:29. > :49:33.even nature as a terrific left jab catches Savon as he comes in but now
:49:34. > :49:39.he is looking to put his punches together. World series boxing
:49:40. > :49:44.experience in seasoned four, five and six and in that time he has
:49:45. > :49:49.compiled an astonishing record of 22 contests without defeat over the
:49:50. > :49:53.five round duration. Lawrence Okolie made his World Series boxing bout
:49:54. > :49:58.this year and his lone defeat came against the man in blue in the final
:49:59. > :50:03.between the British Lionhearts and the Cuban team which took place on
:50:04. > :50:10.neutral territory in Tashkent in Uzbekistan. It is about 100%
:50:11. > :50:15.concentration. He is struggling with closing the gap. He can't close the
:50:16. > :50:20.gap because he cannot get to Lawrence Okolie and that is what the
:50:21. > :50:23.jab as to be accurate, slap it in his face and bring across the
:50:24. > :50:29.right-hand but keep your distance and range and it is all about
:50:30. > :50:32.concentration and accuracy. Again, made to miss with the attempted
:50:33. > :50:38.right-hand but that is a cracking right hand from Savon but Okolie
:50:39. > :50:42.took it well. Trying to get his jab working but now he holds on to get
:50:43. > :50:49.some respite because the right-hand land right on the point of the chin.
:50:50. > :50:56.He just oozes class, sav on. He is having a few problems with closing
:50:57. > :51:05.the gap down. That is why Okolie as to be more concentrated -- Savon. He
:51:06. > :51:10.has to be on the ball but he can do this, Okolie. He has already
:51:11. > :51:14.demonstrated his incredible talent just by qualifying for Rio 2016 by
:51:15. > :51:22.winning the European Olympic qualification event. He beat three
:51:23. > :51:26.top ten operators. Here he is facing one of the very best of all and he
:51:27. > :51:30.is acquitting himself very well in this second round after a slow start
:51:31. > :51:35.to the first but it is a strong conclusion from Savon and as you
:51:36. > :51:42.pointed out, that can be at significant tactic. He has got the
:51:43. > :51:52.round again for me, he did the better work. Goodlad. You're doing
:51:53. > :51:57.brilliant. Dave Allan weight with plenty of encouragement.
:51:58. > :52:04.As someone is coming forward, that is where he has to be accurate but
:52:05. > :52:08.that was a cracking shot and it gave Savon problems. As he is coming
:52:09. > :52:12.forward, he beats him to the punch and that is what I've talked about,
:52:13. > :52:18.the accuracy, you have got to hit him with that left-hand first. The
:52:19. > :52:23.opening round was in favour of Savon and the second round has gone the
:52:24. > :52:28.same way. Putting a man on the floor in open boxing does not necessarily
:52:29. > :52:36.result in a 10-8 round but Savon it in a commanding position.
:52:37. > :52:44.Just some adjustment required to the waistband, that is to be visible so
:52:45. > :52:53.the referee can discern what is a low blow or not. Now the third and
:52:54. > :52:56.final round is underway and the equation is simple, Lawrence Okolie
:52:57. > :53:01.need a massive round because he is trailing on two point on all three
:53:02. > :53:04.scorecards to the reigning World Championship silver medallist,
:53:05. > :53:08.Erislandy Savon. And when you are built like Lawrence Okolie and
:53:09. > :53:12.possess his punching power, is a knockout is always an option that
:53:13. > :53:17.you will have to find the chin of a heavyweight who is pretty elusive
:53:18. > :53:21.when he is at his best. Although he has had some success with the right
:53:22. > :53:31.hand in the second round but he has defined the Sunday punch here. This
:53:32. > :53:37.contest is not over yet, we know how good Savon is. He is very confident
:53:38. > :53:50.but he might come over that front foot and Okolie can take advantage.
:53:51. > :53:56.The reigning Pan Am games champion, reigning American Continental
:53:57. > :54:01.champion from last year, Erislandy Savon. When you look at some of the
:54:02. > :54:06.results that have gone against him, it is surprising he has not picked
:54:07. > :54:10.up global success at eight senior level and occupied the highest
:54:11. > :54:15.plinth on the podium. Another piledriving right-hand that causes
:54:16. > :54:20.Okolie to be a bit disorganised and hold on at close range. He is going
:54:21. > :54:25.for it now but he has to create a bit more space. I think he is more
:54:26. > :54:30.effective at boxing at range. He will not win it at close quarters,
:54:31. > :54:34.he has got to bring Savon onto the big right hand and that means
:54:35. > :54:39.bringing him on at long range and Tian came up with the jab. Nice and
:54:40. > :54:45.sharp, that is what he has to do. Wonderful left-hand from Okolie, he
:54:46. > :54:50.is a young man who oozes confidence to go with his immense talent. He
:54:51. > :54:54.has spoken of destiny and winning the Olympic title but he is facing
:54:55. > :54:58.an uphill battle here inside the final minute of the third and final
:54:59. > :55:03.round, trailing by two point of all three cards after a bad start
:55:04. > :55:07.against Erislandy Savon. He got back into it into the second round but
:55:08. > :55:12.has not done enough so far. The good right hand against from Savon,
:55:13. > :55:18.chopping down onto Okolie who comes back with a left of his own and
:55:19. > :55:24.Savon is libelling him -- lining it up on the right hand. He is just
:55:25. > :55:29.feeling it a little bit now, Lawrence, and it is a shame that he
:55:30. > :55:36.will learn from this experience. He has had his moment in this contest.
:55:37. > :55:40.Worth pointing out that Okolie had just 25 contests coming into the Rio
:55:41. > :55:46.Olympics, and incredible performance to qualified for the biggest
:55:47. > :55:50.tournament on earth in this multisport extravaganza. He produced
:55:51. > :55:58.a terrific victory in his first contest against Jakubowski of Poland
:55:59. > :56:03.but he ran into the brilliant Erislandy Savon, the reigning World
:56:04. > :56:08.Championships to the medallist. And for the second time in a matter of
:56:09. > :56:12.months, Savon demonstrated his superiority over the talented but
:56:13. > :56:14.inexperienced Lawrence Okolie who has acquitted himself incredibly
:56:15. > :56:23.well over the course of this tournament. He has, a quick shot
:56:24. > :56:29.again. He will learn from that. Nevertheless, he is an inexperienced
:56:30. > :56:34.kid, he is one for Tokyo in 2020. He has done well here because it was a
:56:35. > :56:38.terrible start. But he did not cave in, he came back and rocked Savon
:56:39. > :56:44.with one shot so all credit to him, he will come again, one for the
:56:45. > :56:47.future. In terms of the present, let down to the announcer and get the
:56:48. > :56:49.official announcement at the conclusion this heavyweight contest
:56:50. > :57:09.in the second preliminary round. Ladies and gentlemen, the winner by
:57:10. > :57:18.unanimous decision... In the blue corner... Erislandy Savon! Erislandy
:57:19. > :57:25.Savon moves into the quarterfinals and a step closer to emulating his
:57:26. > :57:29.legendary uncle, Felix Savon. He eliminates Lawrence Okolie in the
:57:30. > :57:32.second preliminary round of the 91 kilograms tournament with a
:57:33. > :57:37.unanimous points decision, taking all three rounds from all three
:57:38. > :57:42.judges. A very convincing display in his first outing for the number two
:57:43. > :57:46.seed. Article is eliminated but should hold his head up high at the
:57:47. > :57:50.manner in which he has acquitted himself in his first ever Olympic
:57:51. > :57:57.tournament. -- Lawrence Okolie is eliminated. A step too far in the
:57:58. > :58:03.end, was it what you expected? It was always going to be tough. I knew
:58:04. > :58:06.it was hard, I boxed him before, but I thought the stuff I did in
:58:07. > :58:11.preparation would have been enough. I found out quickly that it was a
:58:12. > :58:18.different ball game. Just that level. I believe I'm in the top
:58:19. > :58:22.three or four but I came up against somebody who was that bit better
:58:23. > :58:26.today. It pains me to say it. But I was watching him in the McDonald's
:58:27. > :58:34.four years ago against Anthony Joshua and I've managed to get
:58:35. > :58:38.myself to sharing the ring with him. But I believe I can become one of
:58:39. > :58:42.the best in the world and I'm not going to stop until I get to that
:58:43. > :58:47.status. I hope you have enjoyed it, what will you take away from it? The
:58:48. > :58:53.progress I have made. The same man stopped me in one round about seven
:58:54. > :58:56.weeks ago, not even two months. And now on the big stage at the
:58:57. > :59:07.Olympics, I have managed to extend it. I got the first bug, I really
:59:08. > :59:11.wanted to win, I try to push it but it was not enough. But I have a
:59:12. > :59:15.fantastic team, and I will keep pushing. I want to give a massive
:59:16. > :59:19.shout to my mum and dad and my friends who have come here.
:59:20. > :59:23.Everybody that has been supporting me. I didn't do it today
:59:24. > :59:28.unfortunately but I will not stop until I get to that next level. All
:59:29. > :59:32.the best, hopefully we will see you in 2020.
:59:33. > :59:41.A great attitude from Lawrence Okolie. We have had three things
:59:42. > :59:46.bouts this evening. -- three boxing bouts. We will be having some reach
:59:47. > :59:51.volleyball before we go off air. If you have just switched on, welcome,
:59:52. > :59:55.this is our home for the whole of the Olympics with some beautiful
:59:56. > :00:01.exercises going on in the background and a fork and the beach and the
:00:02. > :00:13.Atlantic Ocean and the golden coconuts and also the headlines. A
:00:14. > :00:17.bronze medal for Team GB in the men's platform diving for Tom Daley
:00:18. > :00:21.and Daniel Goodfellow who said they would only go if they felt had a
:00:22. > :00:27.chance for winning a medal and they took bronze.
:00:28. > :00:34.That was one of two bronze medals, Ed Link got on earlier on in the day
:00:35. > :00:44.in the men's trap shooting. The man from Somerset has finally got a
:00:45. > :00:49.medal, and it was bronze. Japanese team men's gymnast took the gold,
:00:50. > :00:53.they were overjoyed, but it was disappointment for Great Britain. A
:00:54. > :01:00.fall on the puttable horse for the Liz Smith, they finish outside the
:01:01. > :01:04.medals -- the Pummel horse fuller is Smith. They lost the third-place
:01:05. > :01:09.play-off to Canada. It was Australia who took the gold, beating New
:01:10. > :01:15.Zealand and winning their first ever rugby sevens gold medal at an
:01:16. > :01:20.Olympic Games. I will show you what you can see across the BBC right
:01:21. > :01:25.now. Water polo action on BBC One, the first time we have shown you
:01:26. > :01:28.that during the Olympic Games. Qureshi are taking gone Montenegrin,
:01:29. > :01:38.Croatia are winning by 1-0 -- Caraway shove. -- Croatia are taking
:01:39. > :01:44.an Montenegrin. Life table tennis is on the Red Button. I watched this
:01:45. > :01:48.the other day, handball, Brazil taking on Norway, absolutely
:01:49. > :01:53.brilliant. When I get back to the UK, I'm going to find out where my
:01:54. > :01:57.local handball team are playing, it is brilliant, brutal, very fast
:01:58. > :02:04.paced. That is available on the website. Argentina are taking gone
:02:05. > :02:08.the Netherlands. We finish on BBC Four at 2am. BBC One continues for
:02:09. > :02:12.quite a few hours after that with Jason Mohammed in the BBC studio,
:02:13. > :02:16.just a five-minute walk down Copacabana Beach from us. It is
:02:17. > :02:21.worth staying up for once again. I hope Tuesday Doctor watch Adam Peaty
:02:22. > :02:26.win gold and does Carney win silver. -- I hope Tuesday Doctor watch. Adam
:02:27. > :02:31.Carney won the first gold-medal. The James Guy get on the podium? He is
:02:32. > :02:38.going to the freestyle. That will be sometime between 2am and three A. I
:02:39. > :02:42.will try and find you an exact time, because that is vague. I hope
:02:43. > :02:46.somebody will tell me the exact time whilst I read out these tweets. They
:02:47. > :02:51.have been coming in thick and fast, thank you for all of them.
:02:52. > :02:56.Copacabanter is got up and running. John says, absolutely love it, that
:02:57. > :03:01.is what the Olympics is all about. Kim says, I can rest easy knowing
:03:02. > :03:06.that Copacabanter is in full swing. I will be staying awake and 2am
:03:07. > :03:11.every single night. Darren Jones says, please go and interview that
:03:12. > :03:14.couple having a romantic night over your shoulder. They've suddenly
:03:15. > :03:20.gone! If you were watching half an hour ago, they were there. It looked
:03:21. > :03:26.a bit more serious than a chat, and they have a flask. I'm not sure it
:03:27. > :03:33.was romantic. Dave Ford says, it seems the sevens team ran into a
:03:34. > :03:38.force of nature. Dave, that is horrendous, and not worth of the
:03:39. > :03:42.hashtag Copacabanter. Dan says, I am fitter than most of those doing the
:03:43. > :03:46.beat circuit training. That is harsh, they seem to be enjoying
:03:47. > :03:49.themselves extract the guy who looked a bit like Antony Worrall
:03:50. > :03:55.Thomson has gone home, we can't show him again. At least when we're
:03:56. > :04:05.talking about Copacabanter, the drinks are free. That is true. Paul
:04:06. > :04:12.says, I am off, that is enough for me, Copacabedtime. Jose is, I've
:04:13. > :04:19.just let out the biggest Romany north of Havana. -- the biggest
:04:20. > :04:26.groan. If you would like to see James Guy go for a medal in his very
:04:27. > :04:31.strong field in the 200m freestyle, 2:21am. He qualified in eighth spot
:04:32. > :04:34.for that comment he is. Has a chance because you never know, maybe he
:04:35. > :04:40.will be inspired by what he saw from Adam Peaty. And he is the world
:04:41. > :04:45.champion. We are into our final hour on BBC Four. We will show you a bit
:04:46. > :04:48.of beach volleyball, as promised. We like to give the final hour of the
:04:49. > :04:52.programme over the beach volleyball. I will show you a lovely shot of
:04:53. > :04:56.Copacabana, right where we are. Right at the other end of the beach
:04:57. > :05:00.in the foreground, we are down at the other red, that top of the
:05:01. > :05:05.question mark as you look at it, Copacabana Beach, when the building
:05:06. > :05:09.is obscure in part of the beach. Down from that is the Beach
:05:10. > :05:13.Volleyball Arena. Before we go there and watching Italy taking on Canada,
:05:14. > :05:20.let's remind you of the rules of this wonderful sport.
:05:21. > :05:28.Beach volleyball made its Olympic debut in Atlanta in 1996. And in the
:05:29. > :05:33.20 years since, the United States and Brazil have dominated the sport.
:05:34. > :05:38.Matches take place outdoors on a sand caught 16 metres long and eight
:05:39. > :05:41.metres wide. There are only two members of the beach volleyball
:05:42. > :05:45.team, and substitutions are not allowed. The object of the game is
:05:46. > :05:50.to hit the ball over the net, trying to land it in the opponents' side of
:05:51. > :06:00.the court. To keep the ball in play, the team can hit it up to three
:06:01. > :06:02.times on their side of the court before it must be returned. Every
:06:03. > :06:04.point played scores one point, and matches are the best-of-3 sets. The
:06:05. > :06:09.first use 21 points, but of the third is required the winner is the
:06:10. > :06:13.first team to reach 15. However, a team must always win a set by at
:06:14. > :06:18.least two points. There are many different shots in beach volleyball,
:06:19. > :06:21.this is a short using hands together, to set the ball for
:06:22. > :06:26.another player to play an attacking shot. A date is where the ball is
:06:27. > :06:37.saved with any part of the body, but normally using the arms and hands. A
:06:38. > :06:40.spike is work the player jumps. This move is legal as long as the player
:06:41. > :06:46.does it with closed fingers. The preliminary phase sees teams compete
:06:47. > :06:47.in pool is, with the top team in each pool advancing to the knockout
:06:48. > :06:57.phases. We will show you live action from
:06:58. > :07:01.Paul A. We heard a bit of the explanation of the top two teams
:07:02. > :07:05.from each pool going through, including two best third-place
:07:06. > :07:12.finishes. Six balls in total. This is men's pool A. Brazil are
:07:13. > :07:14.favourites. Ranghieri and Carambula of Italy, taking on Beanstalk and
:07:15. > :07:29.Shakhtar of Canada. We call it the husband and wife when
:07:30. > :07:32.it splits both players, you, me, I got it, you got it. That is for some
:07:33. > :07:58.its communication. No touch. At the top of the tape
:07:59. > :08:00.instead. Great dig by Schachter. Ranghieri no touch. Out of bounds.
:08:01. > :08:18.Point to Italy. Here comes the scribe all. -- the
:08:19. > :08:23.scribe all. -- the Sky bowled. Off the hands of Ranghieri. Point to
:08:24. > :08:27.Canada, Canada have been handling the sky ball well as far as a ball
:08:28. > :08:32.perspective is concerned. But it does throw a very, very different
:08:33. > :08:41.tempo and momentum. With, I guess you could say. -- rhythm.
:08:42. > :08:55.Overdrawn on and in. -- over an one. Josh Binstock, playing a little
:08:56. > :08:59.strappy on that, going down the line, just over Ranghieri. What a
:09:00. > :09:07.great ball. A great ball by Adrienne, and what a better plate by
