:01:44. > :01:59.Hello and welcome to Rio replay, where there's another chance of a

:02:00. > :02:05.gold medal in the pool with James Guy in the final of the men's 200

:02:06. > :02:12.metres freestyle. Plenty to keep you entertained, here is what is coming

:02:13. > :02:21.up... We will see our heavyweight Lawrence Okolie and a few moments.

:02:22. > :02:27.We will see if James Guy can take our fifth medal of the games.

:02:28. > :02:33.Superstar Michael Phelps in action in the men's 200 metres butterfly. A

:02:34. > :02:39.great story is emerging in the table tennis. Paul Drinkhall come into the

:02:40. > :02:46.last 16, the first Briton to reach that stage since 1992. First,

:02:47. > :02:57.boxing. This will be a terrific heavyweight bout featuring Britain's

:02:58. > :03:09.Lawrence Okolie. An incredible story, he was serving burgers during

:03:10. > :03:13.London 2012, the 23-year-old is actually an export scholarship but

:03:14. > :03:17.has deferred his studies until after the games and is looking for top

:03:18. > :03:24.marks in this match against his Cuban opponent. Right next to the

:03:25. > :03:26.Olympic Park, this venue, built in 1977, previously hosted Pan-American

:03:27. > :03:44.games events. We are under way in the 91 kilograms

:03:45. > :03:49.heavyweight division. The second preliminary round, and the man

:03:50. > :03:55.wearing blue has just taken an awkward right hand over the top, the

:03:56. > :04:02.26-year-old Cuban, ranked number two in the world, and the tournament

:04:03. > :04:13.number two seed. , and his opponent, 23-year-old Lawrence Okolie from

:04:14. > :04:23.East London. One of a ten man strong British boxing squad, two women as

:04:24. > :04:29.well. And a cracking right hand but Okolie on the canvas. Another

:04:30. > :04:35.calamitous start for the man, he is on the canvas for the fourth time in

:04:36. > :04:42.his second meeting against Erislandy Savon. Terrible start from Okolie.

:04:43. > :04:56.Yes, court was a big right hand. He needs to move away from that

:04:57. > :05:01.dangerous short of the Cuban. A terrible start but he has recovered

:05:02. > :05:06.again. He needs to get back to using that and get back to been positive.

:05:07. > :05:11.He came into the contest in a positive mood and must return to

:05:12. > :05:16.that now. Make no more mistakes and keep it long range. He defeated

:05:17. > :05:22.three boxes in the top ten to secure this passage to his first Olympic

:05:23. > :05:30.Games and is facing the man ranked number two in the world for the

:05:31. > :05:41.second time in a matter of months. His victories over top-10 talent

:05:42. > :05:48.show you the capability of Okolie, whereas Savon's sole title was a

:05:49. > :05:55.junior championship in 2008, in that time, Okolie had no thought

:05:56. > :05:59.whatsoever about entering the sport of boxing. He did so after he saw

:06:00. > :06:04.Anthony Joshua wins superheavyweight gold. Now he is facing a man of

:06:05. > :06:14.incredible talent in his own right, and heats of experience. The most

:06:15. > :06:18.important shot for Okolie is his jab. If you miss us, it allows

:06:19. > :06:25.someone to come back a right hand. As soon as Savon comes into range he

:06:26. > :06:28.has got to be fast, accurate, hit the target. Keep that gap, keep it

:06:29. > :06:42.long range. You see Savon just struggling a

:06:43. > :06:49.little to close down the gap, because Okolie his recovered, not a

:06:50. > :06:55.bad end to the round, but a terrible start. He was dropped by a lovely,

:06:56. > :07:02.long straight right cross delivered by this man. So calm and controlled

:07:03. > :07:08.in the boxing ring, and so far Okolie has done nothing to take him

:07:09. > :07:15.out of his rhythm. A good right hand over the top. He moves in, Savon,

:07:16. > :07:24.catches him off balance a little and he goes down. Okolie, a little bit

:07:25. > :07:31.slower. That will be across the border for the Cuban, no question.

:07:32. > :07:48.But he has recovered. -- across the board. And it was a good, positive

:07:49. > :07:51.end to of the round, for Okolie. Okolie, immediately on the front

:07:52. > :08:06.foot after conceding the opening round across the in favour of the

:08:07. > :08:12.second best boxer in the world. He comes back with a long left hand and

:08:13. > :08:18.a right over the top. But Okolie is a growing in confidence and finding

:08:19. > :08:22.his range. That is better. The Cubans are not invincible. If you

:08:23. > :08:27.hit them on the chin, they will stagger. Straight right hand, long

:08:28. > :08:35.range, more of that please, Lawrence Okolie. The contest is now more than

:08:36. > :08:42.even the nature in the second round. A left jab again catches Savon and

:08:43. > :08:47.disrupts his stance. But now the man is looking to put his punches

:08:48. > :08:54.together. World series boxing experience in seasons four, five,

:08:55. > :08:57.six, and in that time Savon has established a record of 22 contest

:08:58. > :09:04.without defeat over the five round duration. Okolie, made his world

:09:05. > :09:09.series boxing debut this year and his lone defeat came against this

:09:10. > :09:19.man in blue. It took place in neutral territory in Uzbekistan. It

:09:20. > :09:23.is about 100% concentration. Savon, definitely struggling with closing

:09:24. > :09:28.the gap, he is starting his attacks from too far out, that is why we jab

:09:29. > :09:33.must the accurate, slammed it into his face and bring across the right

:09:34. > :09:38.hand, but keep your distance and range, and it is all about

:09:39. > :09:46.concentration and accuracy. The attempted right hand. And that is a

:09:47. > :09:51.cracking right hand from Savon, but Okolie took it well, now holding on

:09:52. > :10:00.to gain some respite, after that right hand landed right on his chin.

:10:01. > :10:06.He just oozes class, Savon, but he is having problems closing down

:10:07. > :10:16.began. That is why Okolie must be more concentrated. -- closing down

:10:17. > :10:23.the gap. Okolie, he has got to be on the ball, and he can do this.

:10:24. > :10:26.Okolie, demonstrated his talent by winning the European qualification

:10:27. > :10:33.event. Defeated three top-10 operators. Now he is facing one of

:10:34. > :10:37.the very best of all and acquitting himself well in the second round

:10:38. > :10:43.after a slow start in the first, but it is a strong conclusion to the

:10:44. > :10:52.round from Savon. That could be a significant tactic in determining

:10:53. > :11:00.the outcome of a round. Let's just listen to David Alloway. You'd

:11:01. > :11:11.building. When he throws at your face... Plenty of encouragement,

:11:12. > :11:17.telling him doing brilliantly. But look at this right hand, it was

:11:18. > :11:23.cracking, it's certainly gave Savon problems, but then Savon beat him to

:11:24. > :11:29.the punch, that is what I am talking about, you have got to hit him with

:11:30. > :11:36.that left-hand first. The second round has gone the same way. Savon,

:11:37. > :11:50.in a commanding position. Just some adjustments required to

:11:51. > :12:01.view waistband. It must be visible so that the referee can discern what

:12:02. > :12:11.is a low load, or not. -- loan -- low blow. Okolie, trailing by three

:12:12. > :12:18.points on all of the scorecards. And of course when you are built like

:12:19. > :12:21.Okolie and possess his punching power, a knockout is always an

:12:22. > :12:27.option, but you will need to find that the chin of a heavyweight who

:12:28. > :12:31.is pretty elusive at his best. Okolie, he has had some success with

:12:32. > :12:40.his right hand but he has got to find a Sunday punch. He can find it

:12:41. > :12:49.but he just needs to bring Savon onto it. We know how good Savon is,

:12:50. > :12:58.but one mistake, and Okolie can capitalise. It is forcing your

:12:59. > :13:02.opponent to do that. The reigning Pan-American games champion. The

:13:03. > :13:08.reigning American Continental champion of last year. And really

:13:09. > :13:12.when you look at some of the results that have gone against him, it is

:13:13. > :13:16.rather surprising he has not picked up global success at the senior

:13:17. > :13:19.level yet and occupied the highest plinth on the podium. He comes

:13:20. > :13:25.forward with another piledriving right-hander that causes Okolie to

:13:26. > :13:33.become disorganised and hold on at close range. Okolie, he is going for

:13:34. > :13:36.it, but he must create space. He is more effective from range and will

:13:37. > :13:45.not win this at close quarters. He has got to bring Savon onto that ),

:13:46. > :13:55.at long range, using the jab, that is what he has got to do. A young

:13:56. > :13:58.man who oozes confidence, Okolie, to go with his immense talent. He has

:13:59. > :14:05.spoken of destiny and winning the Olympic title. Okolie, facing an

:14:06. > :14:10.uphill battle here in the third and final round trailing by two points

:14:11. > :14:14.on all three cards. A bad start, then he got back into it in the

:14:15. > :14:17.second round, but still did not do enough to take it on the scorecards

:14:18. > :14:26.of the judges. Another good right hand from Savon. Okolie, back with a

:14:27. > :14:34.left hand of his own. Then a fully before coming underneath is a good

:14:35. > :14:40.uppercut. Lawrence is just feeling it now. A shame, but he will learn

:14:41. > :14:45.from this experience. He has had his moments in this contest. Worth

:14:46. > :14:51.pointing out he had just 25 contests coming into his Olympic Games.

:14:52. > :14:54.Incredible performance to qualify for the biggest amateur boxing

:14:55. > :15:03.tournament on Earth, this sporting extravaganza. He produced a terrific

:15:04. > :15:17.victory in his first performance, but he has run into the brilliant

:15:18. > :15:21.Erislandy Savon who demonstrated his superiority over the immensely

:15:22. > :15:33.talented but inexperienced Lawrence Okolie. A great shot again from

:15:34. > :15:42.Savon, but Okolie is inexperienced, he is one for 2020, Tokyo. It was a

:15:43. > :15:49.terrible start but he did not cave in. He even rocked Savon with a

:15:50. > :15:56.shot, he will come again, he is one for the future.

:15:57. > :16:00.That the official announcement of the conclusion of this heavyweight

:16:01. > :16:06.contest in this second preliminary round. Ladies and gentlemen, the

:16:07. > :16:28.winner by unanimous decision... Erislandy Savon into the

:16:29. > :16:34.quarterfinals and a step closer to English in his natural -- legendary

:16:35. > :16:39.uncle Felix. Against Great Britton's Lawrence Okolie in the second round

:16:40. > :16:42.of the 91 kilograms heavyweight tournament, unanimous points

:16:43. > :16:49.decision winner, taking all three rounds for all three judges, very

:16:50. > :16:54.convincing display. The number two seed. Lawrence Okolie is a limited

:16:55. > :16:57.but showed his -- is eliminated but should hold his head up high at the

:16:58. > :17:03.way in which he has acquitted himself in this first Olympic

:17:04. > :17:06.tournament. One step to finally end, was what you expect? It will always

:17:07. > :17:10.be tough against the world number two? I knew wouldn't be hard, but

:17:11. > :17:14.timber for but the stuff I bit dead in preparation I thought it would be

:17:15. > :17:19.enough but unfortunately I got in and found out it was a different

:17:20. > :17:27.ball game. -- I thought it would be enough. I'm up against someone that

:17:28. > :17:31.was just a bit better today, it pains me, but at the end of the day

:17:32. > :17:35.I was watching him when I was in McDonald's four years ago against

:17:36. > :17:39.Anthony Joshua and I got myself within 26 fights where I'm sharing a

:17:40. > :17:43.room with him. It's not enough for me, got a chip on my shoulder and I

:17:44. > :17:48.believe I've become one of the best in the world and I would stop until

:17:49. > :17:55.I get to that staters. And you been able to enjoy it, what will you take

:17:56. > :18:00.away? The progress I've made. But until I get to that stage. It might

:18:01. > :18:07.have been two months, now on the big stage in the Olympics I managed to

:18:08. > :18:10.extend it. After the first round I said you heard the first bell,

:18:11. > :18:14.second, third, I really wanted to win and tried to push it even know I

:18:15. > :18:18.was hurt but unfortunately it wasn't enough. I will go back to the

:18:19. > :18:22.drawing board, I have a fantastic team and I will keep pushing. I want

:18:23. > :18:27.to give a massive shout my mum, my dad, my friend that made their way

:18:28. > :18:30.here. But everyone that has been supporting me. Unfortunately I did

:18:31. > :18:37.not do it today but I will not stop until I get to the next level. All

:18:38. > :18:42.the best, hopefully we will see you in Twenty20. Religious body for

:18:43. > :18:48.Lawrence Okolie. Interestingly he was beaten by Savon stopped in June

:18:49. > :18:52.in the opening round. -- really disappointing. We have table tennis

:18:53. > :18:55.and weightlifting on the way but we are concentrating on the swimming

:18:56. > :18:59.pool and what a night last night. Adam Peaty and Jazz Carlin both

:19:00. > :19:01.winning gold and silver medals respectively and tonight James is

:19:02. > :19:17.the Guy. James Guy of England, bronze

:19:18. > :19:22.medallist, what a great swim he had. It is James Guy of Great Britton.

:19:23. > :19:29.James Guy has got at! And Natalie Brilliant swim. World champion, well

:19:30. > :19:36.done, Sarah! James Guy asserting himself as the world champion he is.

:19:37. > :19:42.Every second counts massively at the Olympic Games. He has made it in by

:19:43. > :19:47.one 100th of a second. Let's hope for more medals in the pool this

:19:48. > :19:51.evening for the speaker Mark Foster, part of swimming team. A very good

:19:52. > :19:55.evening to you. I saw on Twitter today that you shared one of the

:19:56. > :19:59.best nights you've ever seen in the pool last night? It was the best

:20:00. > :20:02.night I've ever seen, first came on the scene in 1988 and so Adrian

:20:03. > :20:06.Moorhouse on the first night of the Olympic Games in Seoul and he won

:20:07. > :20:10.his gold medal but I've never seen a gold and silver in the same night,

:20:11. > :20:14.Rebecca Adlington eight years ago in Beijing when she won and Joe Jackson

:20:15. > :20:18.got third, it was so emotional standing next to Peter's parents

:20:19. > :20:21.with us last night, that was expected to did wasn't expected how

:20:22. > :20:25.much he would crush everyone. Judge Dariusz Mazur Adam Peaty. He has

:20:26. > :20:30.rewritten the record books in Bristol but Jazz Carlin was a

:20:31. > :20:33.massive shock. She is up for the 800, with the potential medal but

:20:34. > :20:37.getting is over last night and seeing the emotion in her face, for

:20:38. > :20:42.her calling all my God and that the Olympics and how much it meant to

:20:43. > :20:48.her, Jesus of medallist, it was amazing. Incredible, especially what

:20:49. > :20:54.she went through in 2012. Let's turn our attention to James Guy,

:20:55. > :20:57.realistic chances of a medal? Yes, there is an opportunity for the

:20:58. > :21:04.pyjama lane you have a chance. The 400 did not go to plan, 3.45 in heat

:21:05. > :21:08.and 3.44 in the final. Not much of his best. You want to do your best

:21:09. > :21:12.at the Olympics and it wasn't bad. The heat and semifinals he looked

:21:13. > :21:15.heavy and I wonder if leading into the championships he's been at

:21:16. > :21:18.altitude as done training and sometimes you do a lot of work like

:21:19. > :21:22.building a skyscraper, you have future foundations that huge

:21:23. > :21:27.foundations and sometimes you don't get it right on the right day. But

:21:28. > :21:33.another day of rest and the training is done, he is a phenomenal athlete.

:21:34. > :21:36.A world last year and the year before and in the Commonwealth Games

:21:37. > :21:40.and European Championships, he has it all to do, Sun Yang will be the

:21:41. > :21:44.favourite and I believe he will probably win but silver and bronze,

:21:45. > :21:49.there is potential. A world champion can step up sometimes. There was a

:21:50. > :21:51.lot of big names in the pool deceiving the Chad le Clos and

:21:52. > :21:55.Michael Phelps, how much are you looking for to that? That is big,

:21:56. > :22:01.the final will be tomorrow night with the 200 fly. There was also the

:22:02. > :22:06.John Tupe free before the 200 fly semifinals of Chad le Clos will be

:22:07. > :22:09.wiped out. -- the 203. He beat Michael Phelps in the last Olympic

:22:10. > :22:15.Games which was a shock and we had that moment of how much it meant to

:22:16. > :22:21.the family. You has Laszlo Jay who used to be and I am slimmer and ten

:22:22. > :22:26.seconds Michael Phelps five times in the Olympics. If Michael Phelps

:22:27. > :22:29.wasn't here he would be a big name in Olympics Potts. It will be touch

:22:30. > :22:33.and go tomorrow who gets to the wall first and if I was betting, looking

:22:34. > :22:41.at the Phelps looked heavy, Chad did not show much. Laszlo was the

:22:42. > :22:45.fastest this morning, he has a longer range in stroke, I would say

:22:46. > :22:51.Laszlo. But that won't go down well with the crowd, they love Michael

:22:52. > :22:58.Phelps. Thank you. Let's look at the key times. 2.20 1am. James Guy

:22:59. > :23:05.sneaks into the final of the 200 meter freestyle final. Formal

:23:06. > :23:09.dilemma four gold medals to be won. We will see if Emily Seebohm cannot

:23:10. > :23:14.win gold in the 100 meter breast Rob final. Mitch Larkin looking to make

:23:15. > :23:20.it a very special night for them in the men's event and we will see Chad

:23:21. > :23:23.le Clos with Mark and Michael Phelps in action in the men's 200 meter

:23:24. > :23:28.butterfly semifinals at about ten past three. That is the swimming

:23:29. > :23:31.schedule but also let's bring you up-to-date with what is happening in

:23:32. > :23:35.the tennis. This has been fascinating over the past few days.

:23:36. > :23:38.If you are with us yesterday he would have seen the Murray brothers

:23:39. > :23:43.crashed out and Novak Djokovic as well Andy Williams sisters both out

:23:44. > :23:51.as well. Venus also went the women's singles. Serena Williams taking on a

:23:52. > :23:55.leak or Nay of France. -- ailing cornet. She was pushed to the end of

:23:56. > :24:08.the first set, Serena, not out alongside Venus. -- knocked out

:24:09. > :24:10.alongside. The men's 62 kilograms weightlifting competition is drawn

:24:11. > :24:20.to a close. Let's bring you up-to-date with what you need to

:24:21. > :24:26.know. Men's weightlifting appeared at the first modern Olympics and has

:24:27. > :24:34.featured at every games since 1920 other women's competition only made

:24:35. > :24:38.its debut in Sydney in 2000. The aim is simple, left the greatest weight

:24:39. > :24:42.possible. There are two types of lift, the snatch and clean jerk,

:24:43. > :24:46.competitors must complete but let's and the winner is the person with

:24:47. > :24:53.the greatest combined weight total. The snatch is ready barbel is waste

:24:54. > :24:57.is no greater head -- about -- where the boys is raves about the head

:24:58. > :25:00.with lock arms. It must move to position above their head and after

:25:01. > :25:04.they are secure they rise and complete the list. The clean and

:25:05. > :25:07.jerk is performed in two stages, the Queen is ready barbel is gripped

:25:08. > :25:10.palms downwards and pulled on a single movement from platform the

:25:11. > :25:15.shoulders. The joke is on the athlete Ben 's and extend the legs

:25:16. > :25:20.and arms to bring the barbel to full stretch. They must then a standstill

:25:21. > :25:24.with feet in line with the bar until they are given a signal by the three

:25:25. > :25:28.judges that the lift is good. Each letter has three attempts in both

:25:29. > :25:31.the snatch and clean and jerk with a combined total of the highest two

:25:32. > :25:35.successful lifts determining the overall result. If after three

:25:36. > :25:39.attempts they failed to register a correct left they will be eliminated

:25:40. > :25:42.from the competition. Olympic weightlifting requires more than

:25:43. > :25:46.just great strength, excellent balance, stability and speed is

:25:47. > :25:57.essential to a weightlifter's quest for glory. It is one of the great

:25:58. > :26:03.weight of -- weightlifting competitions. Peter's on its site

:26:04. > :26:09.has set a new best but Oskar Figueroa leads after the snatch

:26:10. > :26:15.round having lifted 142 kilos. He got silver in London. This is where

:26:16. > :26:18.we are right now. Figueroa leads with Erawan. John Harker and

:26:19. > :26:45.Michaela Breese are here. That looks difficult. You don't see

:26:46. > :26:51.it very often. There is the squad jerk. Why? This is extremely

:26:52. > :26:57.difficult. Split jerk is the most preferred because if there is any

:26:58. > :27:01.movement you have a chance to adjust your body underneath the bar with a

:27:02. > :27:07.squad jerk, you either or you don't. He has posted through five in total,

:27:08. > :27:13.in the lead just now. Throws his shoulders back, has to work really

:27:14. > :27:18.hard to stand with the clean. Look at that. If you want to try that at

:27:19. > :27:21.home make sure your hands are fairly close together, shoulder width

:27:22. > :27:29.apart, the if you can go into a squat with a broomstick overhead.

:27:30. > :27:41.Keep your feet flat. The Indonesian. A chance to put himself in the first

:27:42. > :27:46.spot. Comfortable. Short and sharp. Really good timing on the dip and

:27:47. > :28:03.drive. Remember, Erawan was on Fortuin the snatch. -- 142. Now the

:28:04. > :28:11.leaders of in total. Figaro of Colombia has increased the starting

:28:12. > :28:25.weight to 172. He has adjusted it twice. Really fast underneath the

:28:26. > :28:38.bar. Kharki has just adjusted his to 173. Now we are not back depending

:28:39. > :28:40.on what Irawan is doing. We do need to see the Colombian coming, Irawan

:28:41. > :28:53.has gone up. Figueroa will come out to an

:28:54. > :28:55.enormous round of applause, his first attempt at 172. This would put

:28:56. > :29:45.him into the lead. Clean is good, adjust the hands.

:29:46. > :29:51.Nice. He will lift the Roof. He is in the lead, the lead now set at

:29:52. > :30:06.314. So, this is a difficult one to call.

:30:07. > :30:15.Out of the three of these guys on top, Kharki was probably the least

:30:16. > :30:18.impressive. Remember, this is just his second attempt. He has another

:30:19. > :30:24.lift if needed. This represents a personal best. By

:30:25. > :30:54.one kilo. It would put him in the lead. That

:30:55. > :30:59.looked a struggle. No. He is under pressure now. If you hear any

:31:00. > :31:03.Cheers, that is from the Colombians, giving their man some breathing

:31:04. > :31:11.space. Remember, he is the heavier of the two lifters. I think we will

:31:12. > :31:15.see fig where all coming out on the same weights, forcing Irawan even

:31:16. > :31:21.heavier on his final attempt. I'm not sure Irawan has the legs to

:31:22. > :31:23.stand with more, so this could be the list for the gold-medal.

:31:24. > :31:35.Certainly will confirm his lead. Waiting for quiet.

:31:36. > :32:19.This, to put himself in first place. It is there. He extends his knee. He

:32:20. > :32:28.has laid down the gauntlet. Catch me if you can. Still needs to stay

:32:29. > :32:37.focused just in case one of these guys attempts to upset the party. He

:32:38. > :32:41.looks exhausted. Absolutely drained. I understand that feeling, when you

:32:42. > :32:50.drop body weight and you focus for the last two hours he must keep it

:32:51. > :32:56.together now for one more attempt. He will be hoping he does not need

:32:57. > :33:07.the last attempt. His opponent was seven kilograms behind after this

:33:08. > :33:14.match. Mosquera, equal at 142, but is the lighter man. So now Kharki,

:33:15. > :33:35.if he nails this, it puts him into the silver medal position.

:33:36. > :34:01.No. He has another lift left though. Not much damaged apart from his

:34:02. > :34:08.pride. The laps -- laterals would be engaged in that position. I think

:34:09. > :34:16.that is what you call stacking it. They will need work, lateral by the

:34:17. > :34:20.looks of things. Shoulder. Well... This may be an anti-climax. We may

:34:21. > :34:34.already have seen the lift that secures gold. In the background,

:34:35. > :34:38.going up to 178, so the gauntlet is being laid down to the Colombian.

:34:39. > :34:54.They are scribbling something we cannot see. 179? Irawan Has gone to

:34:55. > :35:06.one seven nine. He does not need that, he needs 177. He would force

:35:07. > :35:15.Mosquera to also lift 179. If he misses, then Mosquera is gold

:35:16. > :35:19.medallist. This is for an Olympic record.

:35:20. > :35:30.Olympic record attempt. He has cleaned it. Can he stand? Yes he

:35:31. > :35:41.can. This will throw down the gauntlet. No. We know one thing for

:35:42. > :35:47.sure, and that is that Mosquera is the Olympic champion. The question

:35:48. > :35:55.is, will we see him again? There is something at stake. The Olympic

:35:56. > :36:00.record. So Irawan we'll settle for silver. And they call on being is

:36:01. > :36:04.going to come out and have a crack at the Olympic record. He has

:36:05. > :36:10.secured gold. This is about pride and a place in the record books. The

:36:11. > :36:15.one man who we believe has the capability.

:36:16. > :36:27.Of course, the issue is that it is his Olympic record as well. He set

:36:28. > :36:31.this record back in 2012. He is the Olympic record holder, trying to

:36:32. > :36:40.break it right now, having already secured gold medal. O Figueroa

:36:41. > :37:11.Mosquera of Colombia. Strong, clean. Come on, nail it. And

:37:12. > :37:17.lucky. But he is still gold medallist. And this massive crowd,

:37:18. > :37:22.full of Colombians, are going nuts for him. But look at the tears of

:37:23. > :37:35.joy. The gold medallist in the 62 kilograms division. I think we are

:37:36. > :37:44.about to see a weightlifter retire. You think? This happens... Forgive

:37:45. > :37:55.me, I have forgotten the name of the Greek lifter. He is leaving his

:37:56. > :38:11.shoes. He has retired. What a wonderful moment. At the age of 33.

:38:12. > :38:24.What a way to go out. Figueroa Mosquera. Hugging his coat and

:38:25. > :38:30.support staff. If you are not choking up back home there is

:38:31. > :38:38.something wrong with you. What a way to end your career.

:38:39. > :38:50.Floods of tears. A great story, the Colombian, Figueroa Mosquera, taking

:38:51. > :38:58.gold. Irawan, of Indonesia, getting silver. One of the big stories from

:38:59. > :39:02.that event is that the world champion from China, a solid bet for

:39:03. > :39:14.gold, he did not finish. If you fancy being the next Figueroa

:39:15. > :39:20.Mosquera, heads to our get inspired website. Punch in your postcode,

:39:21. > :39:25.find out which club you can go to, and who knows, you may be a

:39:26. > :39:35.medallist 14 GP in years to come. Let's bring you up-to-date with the

:39:36. > :39:37.women's singles. Serena Williams playing, we join it was her opponent

:39:38. > :40:17.serving to stay in the match at 2-5. All of a sudden, tugging at her arm,

:40:18. > :40:44.shoulder. The forehand coming back at Cornet

:40:45. > :41:19.very, very quickly. She was scrambling all over the

:41:20. > :41:24.place. Could not get at the last ball. Great control from Williams at

:41:25. > :41:55.that point. Using all the court. Wanted to end the point quickly,

:41:56. > :42:35.Cornet. And we have two match point. Williams desperate to close this

:42:36. > :42:55.out. No challenge. Consult with the

:42:56. > :43:33.umpire again. A double fault. Just pressing too

:43:34. > :43:43.hard. Trying to get a better second serve in.

:43:44. > :44:07.She converts and number three, Williams. Cornet, winning three in a

:44:08. > :44:15.row, cannot make it for. Williams goes through 7-6, 6-2.

:44:16. > :44:25.This appointment in the doubles for Serena and Venus Williams but Serena

:44:26. > :44:28.turning her powers to the Women's Singles third round. Table tennis

:44:29. > :44:32.coming up, with Paul Drinkhall taking on a bill Russian

:44:33. > :44:39.international who is a fantastic player, so he is up against a --

:44:40. > :44:43.Belarussian. One of the great things about the Olympics... We brought you

:44:44. > :44:46.weight lifting, dramatic scenes, but we will also bring you other sports

:44:47. > :44:50.that you do not necessarily see at this time in the Olympics, so let's

:44:51. > :45:03.have some water Polo tonight. Water Polo has been an Olympic sport

:45:04. > :45:08.since 1900 in Paris. There are seven players in a team. Six outfield and

:45:09. > :45:13.a goalkeeper. But they are allowed six reserves and unlimited

:45:14. > :45:17.substitutions. Substitute are crucial because of the gruelling

:45:18. > :45:21.nature of the sport. Players are not allowed to touch the bottom of the

:45:22. > :45:27.pool at any point during the match. The best way to stay upright and

:45:28. > :45:32.ready is to keep the legs moving alternately in what is known as the

:45:33. > :45:38.eggbeater motion. There are two metre and five metre lines. The

:45:39. > :45:42.attacking team are not allowed to pass the two metres line unless they

:45:43. > :45:46.have possession of the ball or the poll is already in that area. If an

:45:47. > :45:51.attacking player is filed within five metres of gold the referee can

:45:52. > :45:55.award a penalty shot. If the file is committed further out than five

:45:56. > :46:00.metres a free throw is awarded. Goalkeepers may use both hands at

:46:01. > :46:06.once but out to players can only use one hand at a time. The game is

:46:07. > :46:09.split into four quarters of eight minutes but a game usually lasts for

:46:10. > :46:15.over an hour because it is regularly stopped and started. Each quarter

:46:16. > :46:19.begins with both teams lined up on their goal line and when the referee

:46:20. > :46:24.blows the whistle the teams sprint towards the ball in the centre of

:46:25. > :46:27.the court. A shot clock controls shooting time because when in

:46:28. > :46:33.possession teams only have 30 seconds to shoot at goal.

:46:34. > :46:43.Serbia and the red-hot favourite but Croatia are Olympic champions. We

:46:44. > :46:44.are heading to the Aquatic Centre, and your match commentator, Mark

:46:45. > :47:03.Tompkins. Forequarters of eight minutes long.

:47:04. > :47:06.We will have the swim off to Germany will get first control of the ball.

:47:07. > :47:25.-- route to determine who. Meyler Stepanek which will be the

:47:26. > :47:32.starting goalkeeper from Montenegro. Josep avec will start for Croatia.

:47:33. > :47:41.The group stages of the men's water polo. Croatia winning the swim off

:47:42. > :48:04.by some distance. Andelo Setka giving his side first

:48:05. > :48:15.control of the ball. The first goal of the game inside the opening

:48:16. > :48:19.seconds, what a start for Croatia. Sandro Sukno gets the opening goal.

:48:20. > :48:29.Great elevation, off the side of the bar and in -- off of the side.

:48:30. > :48:50.Croatia with a great chance of a second goal. That is a fine save.

:48:51. > :49:19.The Sandro Sukno of the match. The ball turned over. Croatia losing

:49:20. > :49:27.because of the early goal. Montenegro or nicknames the red

:49:28. > :49:46.sharks. -- are nicknamed. A fresh gritty

:49:47. > :49:56.start to the game, just over halfway through the first quarter. Vladimir

:49:57. > :50:01.showing some displeasure at his side's play. Not far to come for

:50:02. > :50:09.these athletes, just about a ten minute Drive to the village from the

:50:10. > :50:17.Olympic Park where the water polo venue is. A very colourful site as

:50:18. > :50:18.you drive past with the flags of the respective nations draped over the

:50:19. > :50:32.tower blocks. Montenegro again looking for the

:50:33. > :50:58.equaliser. Inside the ten seconds on the shot clock.

:50:59. > :51:28.Croatia's number seven is a swimming up. Montenegro with a chance that

:51:29. > :51:34.the extra player. Did not take the advantage with their first one.

:51:35. > :51:48.Taking advantage with their second. Darko Brguljan with his first goal,

:51:49. > :52:51.Montenegro's first goal of the game. What a great strike. There was

:52:52. > :52:55.nothing on it but Luka Bukic seemed to find a way past. Seems to lose

:52:56. > :53:08.the opportunity but arises out of the water to find the low shot.

:53:09. > :53:17.Croatia have played Montenegro twice at the Olympics, won one and lost

:53:18. > :53:19.one. This one, back to all square. We thought this might be a tight

:53:20. > :53:51.game. Good save by Pavic. They've not had

:53:52. > :53:59.the best of times since Ryu ditch -- left them. Bounces over the top,

:54:00. > :54:00.well struck shot, the ball complain all directions of the surface of the

:54:01. > :54:26.water. -- can fly in. Montenegro back on the attack. A

:54:27. > :54:29.fine stop from Pavic. A really good stopped by the keeper, 196

:54:30. > :54:39.international games to his credit. The Olympiakos goalkeeper. Named the

:54:40. > :54:46.best goalkeeper in the 2015 world league. He is no slouch between the

:54:47. > :55:07.posts. The final few seconds of the first quarter.

:55:08. > :55:17.It is a good deflection and it finds its way into the top corner. Darko

:55:18. > :55:27.Brguljan has his second goal of the game. It is flicked in from Garcia.

:55:28. > :55:31.Six seconds left on the clock for Croatia to find themselves a slender

:55:32. > :55:36.lead to take into the second quarter. Good save by the keeper.

:55:37. > :55:42.There goes the hooter for the end of the first quarter. We shall be back

:55:43. > :55:47.for the second quarter very shortly. Reminder, 2am we shall cross to yet

:55:48. > :55:52.more pool action because we are going to the swimming pool and all

:55:53. > :55:57.eyes are on James Guy, can he win another medal for Team GB? That is

:55:58. > :56:03.about to 21 AM in the men's 200 meter freestyle. We will bring

:56:04. > :56:08.up-to-date with what you can watch right now, there is beach volleyball

:56:09. > :56:12.if you like on BBC Four that is live, Canada against Italy. Italy

:56:13. > :56:18.won their opening match 2- against Austria on opening day of the games.

:56:19. > :56:22.If you want some Button action, there is table tennis. We'll keep an

:56:23. > :56:27.eye on Paul Drinkhall, in the last 16 of the men's table tennis. The

:56:28. > :56:32.first Briton to reach that stage since 1992, following this match.

:56:33. > :56:37.We'll keep up-to-date with that. And also when the women's hockey, the

:56:38. > :56:39.Netherlands are the team to beat as the reigning Olympic world champions

:56:40. > :56:43.but keep a lookout for Argentina because they could win the gold

:56:44. > :56:46.medal. They are taking on Japan, that is available on the Red Button.

:56:47. > :56:58.They are 2-0 up against Japan. To help you make even more of your

:56:59. > :57:01.Rio 2016 Olympic Games from boxing the Kovtun.

:57:02. > :57:44.It appears at judging by my timeline on social media that you are loving

:57:45. > :57:48.the water polo, great news for us. Let's go back for the second quarter

:57:49. > :58:02.of Croatia against Montenegrin and rejoin our commentator, Mark

:58:03. > :58:09.Tompkins. -- Montenegrin. Antonio Petrovic trying to get Montenegrin

:58:10. > :58:20.the ball. But just beaten to it by Croatia.

:58:21. > :58:50.Turnover ball back with the goalkeeper. Both sides have been

:58:51. > :58:54.fairly disciplined, this might have been more of a physical battle. We

:58:55. > :58:59.have only seen a couple of exclusions for 20 seconds so far.

:59:00. > :59:01.I'm sure that will increase as the game goes on. Inside the final ten

:59:02. > :59:10.seconds on the clock. If the shot doesn't come in on the

:59:11. > :59:12.ten seconds it goes to the other side, it has been one back by

:59:13. > :59:43.Serbia. Paskovic winning it back. You cannot

:59:44. > :59:47.go on at the two meter box unless you have the ball. Complaining that

:59:48. > :00:29.he was being fouled by Klikovac. The turnover foul gives Montenegrin

:00:30. > :00:41.the ball back again. Croatia are a very defensive side. They need to

:00:42. > :00:54.get the shot in quickly, which they have done. Pushed away by Pavic.

:00:55. > :01:24.Good save! The clock was ticking down to get the shot away, but a

:01:25. > :01:38.fine stop from Milos Scepanovic, tipping the ball away one-handed.

:01:39. > :01:42.They will be one player light. Janovic out for 20 seconds. Croatia

:01:43. > :01:45.have not managed to make the man advantage count. It is back with

:01:46. > :02:03.Milos Scepanovic. Drasko Brguljan. Four steals so far

:02:04. > :02:17.in the first half. Great goal. Great goal. Virtually never left the

:02:18. > :02:38.service of the water from Antonio Petra -- Petkovic, really good shot

:02:39. > :02:42.Josip Pavic, disappointed not to Josip Pavic, disappointed not to

:02:43. > :03:04.keep it out. Paskovic, with a shot, kept out by

:03:05. > :03:10.the Croatian goalkeeper. A well spotted turnover again and

:03:11. > :03:15.Montenegrin win it back with consummate ease at the moment. Could

:03:16. > :03:24.save again. Straight at the goalkeeper. Pavic Makes the save.

:03:25. > :03:38.Both goalkeepers in good form so far in this game.

:03:39. > :03:56.Montenegro just missed out on medals in 2008 and 2012. Finishing fourth.

:03:57. > :04:06.A player is down once again, Alexander Radovic is penalised. Can

:04:07. > :04:12.Croatia make the extra player count? Yes, they can, is the answer.

:04:13. > :04:27.Finally, some joy in front of goal. Buric, with the shot, and we are

:04:28. > :04:51.back to a tied game, 3-3. line-up, Buric, 35, the oldest

:04:52. > :04:57.player in the team, just a little bit older than the goalkeeper,

:04:58. > :05:02.Pavic. He would call it experience though, and rightly so. 143

:05:03. > :05:10.international matches, three Olympic Games for Buric, this is his fourth.

:05:11. > :05:22.The final few seconds of the first half. No foul is Montenegro go in

:05:23. > :05:28.search of the goal that would give them the lead again. And Croatia

:05:29. > :05:37.grabbed the lead right on the stroke of half-time interval. A second of

:05:38. > :05:47.the game for Sukno and it was all down to the vision of Pavic, picking

:05:48. > :05:56.out Sukno. Beyond the goalkeeper. It is the turn of Croatia to lead now,

:05:57. > :06:01.by 4-3. The last shot of the half comes in, blocked by the goalkeeper.

:06:02. > :06:08.Entertaining, between these big powerhouses of water Polo. The

:06:09. > :06:14.halfway point in the Aquatic Centre, Croatia 4-3 Montenegro.

:06:15. > :06:21.What a great match and if you want to continue watching live it is

:06:27. > :06:31.tennis coming up for you. And we will show you what happens in the

:06:32. > :06:44.woman's rugby sevens gold medal match, after the headlines. Tom

:06:45. > :06:56.Daley and Dan Goodfellow took bronze in the synchronised ten metres

:06:57. > :07:06.platform, well done them. And our boy Ed Ling took bronze in the trap

:07:07. > :07:10.competition. Great Britain's men come forth in the all-round final

:07:11. > :07:17.after Louis Smith comes off the pommel horse. Defeat to New Zealand

:07:18. > :07:30.and Canada ruined British chances of a medal in the Women's Rugby sevens.

:07:31. > :07:39.And a wonderful celebration for the first Brazilian gold of the games,

:07:40. > :07:44.Rafaela Silva, in the judo, and just look at the seams. Amazing stuff.

:07:45. > :07:51.This is how we line up this evening. Plenty of action to come.

:07:52. > :08:04.Paul Drinkhall's match starts at 1:30 a.m.. James Guy in a final at

:08:05. > :08:10.2:21 a.m.. Michael Phelps races in 40 minutes after that. Just to make

:08:11. > :08:19.the superstars in the swimming pool for these games. -- just two of the

:08:20. > :08:28.superstars. The greatest Olympian in history!

:08:29. > :08:40.Fantastic, a new world record. My goodness me, Le Clos wins gold. The

:08:41. > :08:53.new champion is Missy Franklin of the USA. It is gold and a world

:08:54. > :09:00.record for Hosszu. The silver, Jazz Carlin, a wonderful silver medal for

:09:01. > :09:06.Great Britain. Look at that! Great swimming from the Australian! The

:09:07. > :09:11.gold medal goes to James Guy of Great Britain. Adam Peaty takes

:09:12. > :09:20.Olympic gold for Great Britain! Wonderful scenes from the swimming

:09:21. > :09:26.pool, we will be there with Helen and the team very shortly. But as he

:09:27. > :09:30.tells you, disappointment for British woman in the rugby sevens,

:09:31. > :09:36.who played so well but missed out on the bronze medal. The gold medal

:09:37. > :09:41.match was between Australia and New Zealand.

:09:42. > :09:58.Emily Cherry. Sarah Goss. The work they overlap, the long pass.

:09:59. > :10:13.McAllister. She scores the first try of the gold medal final. New Zealand

:10:14. > :10:18.take the lead. Good step, try. Sharon Parry will be disappointed,

:10:19. > :10:28.the flier in the Australian site, wants to just open up both sides. No

:10:29. > :10:50.mistake. Or is that about? Great finish. What a tackle. Get it to

:10:51. > :11:04.quirk. Delivers. Alysia quirk. That could be a yellow. It is. A yellow

:11:05. > :11:10.card to Woodman. Quirk. Hanging onto it, fires it long. A great chance

:11:11. > :11:17.for Australia to score their second try. And they do.

:11:18. > :11:38.Cherry gets away and nobody will catch you. Green. Australia

:11:39. > :11:43.extending their lead in the gold medal final. Outstanding try.

:11:44. > :11:51.Woodman, when very, medal final. Outstanding try.

:11:52. > :12:01.Woodman, when -- one very angry young lady, she knows she has cost

:12:02. > :12:06.her side. Casslick four. She could go on her own. And she does. It

:12:07. > :12:14.would not have been a final without her contribution, the outstanding

:12:15. > :12:18.player of the tournament. I agree. This woman is the number one player

:12:19. > :12:26.of this tournament. She is the difference between the teams. Quirk,

:12:27. > :12:31.with the tackle. McAllister. Nothing can stop her at the moment, as she

:12:32. > :12:36.goes over for the second New Zealand try. It may be too late but

:12:37. > :12:50.McAllister has made her mark on the final. A wonderful first ever

:12:51. > :13:00.Olympic sevens final. Woodman. One of the great finishers, she has her

:13:01. > :13:06.say in the final. 24-15 for the moment. Australia lead. New Zealand

:13:07. > :13:10.scored the last try. But the head is down. She knows it is a losing

:13:11. > :13:18.cause. New Zealand have lost to Australia. 24-17.

:13:19. > :13:25.Many congratulations to Australia. The men get under way tomorrow in

:13:26. > :13:31.the first match of the men's competition, Team GB take on Canada.

:13:32. > :13:39.Then it will be all eyes on New Zealand. Sonny Boo Williams, a Rugby

:13:40. > :13:46.World Cup winner in 2015, all eyes on sunny Bill Williams. Our next

:13:47. > :13:53.destination is the swimming pool. We are heading to the Aquatic Centre,

:13:54. > :13:57.let's join Helen. Have you recovered from last night?

:13:58. > :14:10.Just about. But I need to hang on to Rebecca. We have just seen Michael

:14:11. > :14:18.Phelps's baby boy. Just as Michael begins his quest to get the title

:14:19. > :14:25.from Le Cloc. So cute. I miss my little one! And the baby might have

:14:26. > :14:37.something to celebrate later on. All the big names will be in the pool

:14:38. > :14:50.tonight. Phelps, Ledecky, Le Clos. But what do reckon of James Guy's

:14:51. > :14:54.chances? He scraped in in eighth, but anything can happen. He has

:14:55. > :14:59.looked tired, not his usual self, he has not made personal bests, but

:15:00. > :15:03.even if he does not medal, I think he will be really happy if he comes

:15:04. > :15:08.out having made a strong time. Does he like to be the underdog? At the

:15:09. > :15:15.World Championships last year he burst onto the scene, took gold and

:15:16. > :15:20.silver. There was a lot of talk for him and it does not come off for

:15:21. > :15:31.him/her, but what about tonight? He is a great racer. It is an amazing

:15:32. > :15:36.opportunity. He is kind of swimming into the meet. And having seen Adam

:15:37. > :15:41.and Jazz last night, that must have lifted him. We talked about the

:15:42. > :15:51.positive effect of the Adam Peaty and Jazz Carlin medals on the team.

:15:52. > :15:55.That is definitely a good thing. Siobhan O'Connor, after her heats,

:15:56. > :16:00.said it has a positive impact on the group and they all want to carry it

:16:01. > :16:05.on. What will it do for Hannah and Siobhan, blind semifinals tonight?

:16:06. > :16:12.Hannah has a bit more work to do. But this is not her main event. She

:16:13. > :16:17.said it is a bonus event. Siobhan, she looked fantastic this morning.

:16:18. > :16:28.So controlled. So smooth. She did not look like she was having to push

:16:29. > :16:32.it save heart. Hosszu, obviously she is in there, but in a separate

:16:33. > :16:41.semifinal. So it'll be interesting, I hope she breaks British record.

:16:42. > :16:50.Plenty to look forward to tonight. It is interest. And all the big

:16:51. > :16:56.names are out. I'm going to go and cuddle baby boomer. We will be back

:16:57. > :16:59.with you shortly but let's spin around the venue to show you what is

:17:00. > :17:04.happening and all available for you at the touch of a Button. A lot of

:17:05. > :17:07.people said they love the beach volleyball, that is good because it

:17:08. > :17:12.is available on BBC for a few fancy some Italy against Canada. Of

:17:13. > :17:17.course, we would love it if you stayed with us on BBC One from

:17:18. > :17:22.streaming finals coming up. We have a bit of hockey for you as well on

:17:23. > :17:31.the Red Button. Argentina take on Japan. However, if tennis is your

:17:32. > :17:35.thing and you want some Australia and Japan, Kay Nishikori taking on

:17:36. > :17:41.John Millman is on centre court available online. Novak Djokovic,

:17:42. > :17:44.who we saw yesterday evening go out in the singles, is back on Court

:17:45. > :17:54.number one representing Serbia in the doubles. Croatia taking a

:17:55. > :18:02.Montenegro. We left it at half-time, Croatia leading by 5-4. Although I

:18:03. > :18:44.think they scored again. That is available online.

:18:45. > :18:50.I wonder how many people woke up this morning in the UK and heard

:18:51. > :18:54.about Adam Peaty and got out the slimming goggles and the bathers and

:18:55. > :19:03.dive into the pool. Let remind ourselves of the four men who won

:19:04. > :19:13.gold in the pool. David Wilkie is at the least superb. It is a new world

:19:14. > :19:17.record for Great Britton. He has come back marvellously. It is a gold

:19:18. > :19:34.medal for Duncan Goodhew. This is quite extraordinary. There

:19:35. > :19:39.is oceans of clear blue water between Adam Peaty and the rest of

:19:40. > :19:44.the world. Absolutely fantastic. Adam Peaty takes Olympic gold for

:19:45. > :19:51.Great Britton by an absolute street. Olympic champion, gold medal, Adam

:19:52. > :19:55.Peaty of Great Britton. A night that will live long in the memory. We are

:19:56. > :19:58.concentrating this evening on the swimming finals, back to the pool

:19:59. > :20:03.and Helen and Rebecca very shortly. James Guy's final at 221 AM. Could

:20:04. > :20:08.we look at another medal for Team GB? That bring up-to-date with the

:20:09. > :20:15.gymnastics today. -- let's bring you.

:20:16. > :20:29.Where will we go with yes to this? Where will we put our money? It

:20:30. > :20:33.could go anywhere. Come on. Now he needs a big dismount. Beautiful

:20:34. > :20:38.double straight with Phil twist. Fabianski from Russia on pommel

:20:39. > :20:49.horse. Russia going good, that was a great routine. Things not going to

:20:50. > :20:57.plan for Japan. That was a beautiful turn and half twist. Such an

:20:58. > :21:08.exciting dynamic young gymnast. Six star value, it will be hard, and

:21:09. > :21:12.wow, it was well landed as well. That was right on the top of his

:21:13. > :21:20.game. These guys are making these enormously difficult vaults look so

:21:21. > :21:23.simple. Alex Naddour, the 25-year-old, fourth highest

:21:24. > :21:35.qualifier on vault as a team for the US, what can they do here? A super

:21:36. > :21:39.controlled 22 in the pipe pike position. USA will not sit down and

:21:40. > :21:46.roll over. Regarded as the finest gymnast on the planet. Absolute

:21:47. > :21:51.style, beautiful, full of grace all the way through. That is how you

:21:52. > :21:57.land a parallel bars routine, isn't it? Max Whitlock on high bar,

:21:58. > :22:00.working on all six bees of apparatus, doing everything he can

:22:01. > :22:05.to get Great Britton that Olympic medal. Here comes the dismount and

:22:06. > :22:09.he is quick and speedy on the double twist and the double straight. Three

:22:10. > :22:21.excellent Borbridge teams from the British lads. China on their way.

:22:22. > :22:35.Japan leave Russia in second. China in third and Great Britain are in

:22:36. > :22:42.fourth. I think that was four. Itchy mirror, -- issue mirror, lovelies

:22:43. > :22:52.triple twist. Lewis, we need you now. What a shame. To date it was

:22:53. > :22:56.not his day. As it stands it is Japan, China, Great Britain, where

:22:57. > :23:01.Russia going to finish? All eyes are on the scoreboard? It is a silver

:23:02. > :23:07.medal for the Russians. Japan get a gold medal.

:23:08. > :23:14.Well done Japan, disappointment for Team GB in the men's final. We shall

:23:15. > :23:18.be concentrating on the women's gymnastic final. All eyes shortly on

:23:19. > :23:24.the American team, especially Simone Biles, red-hot favourite for the

:23:25. > :23:27.gold medal. Adam Peaty's success winning a gold medal in the pool and

:23:28. > :23:30.Jazz Carlin cosmic remarkable comeback missing at London 2012 foot

:23:31. > :23:32.we've been learning about their training regimes, we're looking at

:23:33. > :23:51.the four-year sacrifice. Four years, 208 weeks, 126 million,

:23:52. > :23:55.144,000 seconds. That is the time period, the defining time period,

:23:56. > :24:01.that articulates both the peril and privilege of being an Olympian. The

:24:02. > :24:04.thing that got me into cycling was this dream of being able go to the

:24:05. > :24:09.Olympic Games and compete for Great Britain. Every year you do come

:24:10. > :24:13.every day you train, is for the Olympics to be your best there. It

:24:14. > :24:19.will be challenging, it will be tough, but this is what we live for.

:24:20. > :24:24.This creates the stakes. One tiny error on the grand stage and you

:24:25. > :24:29.have to wait for years to correct it. The defending champion thrown

:24:30. > :24:33.out for two false starts. Sometimes you never get a chance to correct

:24:34. > :24:37.it. I've never actually hit the wall we talk about in the marathon but I

:24:38. > :24:41.hit it with a bang in affluence. It took a lot of time to mentally and

:24:42. > :24:46.physically get back. I did feel I had let a lot of people down. You

:24:47. > :24:49.get one shot to get it right in four years and you always think it could

:24:50. > :24:53.be your last chance to win Olympic gold. You could be introduced for

:24:54. > :24:57.the rest of your life as an Olympian, that means something to

:24:58. > :25:01.the world. Fundamentally the Olympic Games is not what happens in the

:25:02. > :25:05.spotlight, this is stuff we never see, the training bases, the

:25:06. > :25:11.altitude camps, the 5:30am on a frosty morning in February when all

:25:12. > :25:13.you want to do is stay in bed. If you have a life when you're

:25:14. > :25:19.preparing for the Olympics then you aren't doing it right. It is so hard

:25:20. > :25:24.to train and go up and down the black line 400 times in one day. I

:25:25. > :25:29.have to get up savagely early and flog ourselves up and down this lake

:25:30. > :25:33.and Ms weekends. These are not things it masochistically enjoy,

:25:34. > :25:37.these are the price of success. What looks like an awful way to live your

:25:38. > :25:42.life for us is normal, that routine is part of who they are and how they

:25:43. > :25:46.live their life and therefore you just get on with it. Once you get

:25:47. > :25:53.that feeling of being on the podium, you just want that. You say, I'm

:25:54. > :25:59.tired, I'm going for a run. I need to get up. You have to sustain your

:26:00. > :26:03.motivation for four years and make sacrifices for four years. You have

:26:04. > :26:11.to make strangers of your family for four years. My life has essentially

:26:12. > :26:19.been overtaken by a long jumper. Greg missed our first scan, he

:26:20. > :26:24.almost missed my niece's first birthday. He misses a lot -- Milo's

:26:25. > :26:29.Pavic deck. Being a dad is more important than being at -- and

:26:30. > :26:32.athletes to him. As among it is difficult to fully switch off from

:26:33. > :26:36.thinking about your child and if I didn't put 100% in and was just

:26:37. > :26:39.wasting time it would be awful. I need to know that I'm doing this for

:26:40. > :26:44.really good reasons and he will be able to look back and be like, wow,

:26:45. > :26:49.look what man has done. When you get onto the stage itself, the

:26:50. > :26:54.psychological danger flips. The problem now is not motivation, but

:26:55. > :26:58.fear. You want to perform so much that you become paranoid that you

:26:59. > :27:04.want. The key to being successful in that moment is being able to manage

:27:05. > :27:10.your emotions and be able to maintain a sense of calm and being

:27:11. > :27:15.present. Now has to look like I know what I'm doing and I'm in control.

:27:16. > :27:19.The thing I love the most is that adrenaline. I love the fact that

:27:20. > :27:22.when I walk into the velodrome I've realised that this is happening and

:27:23. > :27:28.that kind of emotional feeling I get and I know I'm so ready for that

:27:29. > :27:33.moment. There is an essential cruelty and sport. The juxtaposition

:27:34. > :27:39.of the dreams, sacrifices of so many anti-top of the podium reserved for

:27:40. > :27:44.just one. There is a cruelty to in that after an epic journey measured

:27:45. > :27:51.in years, success and failure are measured in fractions. 1.8 seconds

:27:52. > :27:56.is how long it takes to do one dive. All six of my dives are over faster

:27:57. > :28:00.than Usain Bolt's race. It isn't just starting a and suddenly finding

:28:01. > :28:04.yourself on the top of the podium, it takes so many setbacks and

:28:05. > :28:07.setbacks and injuries and moments where you question if you want to

:28:08. > :28:10.continue doing your spot to actually get you to that point and that is

:28:11. > :28:16.what makes it so much sweeter when you achieve it. Ultimately it is how

:28:17. > :28:21.we deal with the setbacks and challenges, how we deal with the

:28:22. > :28:29.consequences of losing and winning that make us who we are.

:28:30. > :28:35.Matthew reporting, who represented Great Britain in table tennis in

:28:36. > :28:40.1992 in Barcelona and the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. Perfectly

:28:41. > :28:44.setting up more live sport for you. It has been a super day for Paul

:28:45. > :28:47.Drinkhall, these are live pictures, becoming only the third Briton to

:28:48. > :28:57.reach the last 16 in the Olympic table tennis competition, beating

:28:58. > :29:00.Croatia's Andre Gurteen. Looking to match the achievement of Devon and

:29:01. > :29:05.Douglas in 1998 and can't bring in 1992, he has booked a place in the

:29:06. > :29:08.fourth round against Batman, Vladimir Samsonov of Belarus. We

:29:09. > :29:18.have live Slammy and coming up but let's eat to live to Riocentro -- to

:29:19. > :29:20.Rio central. Moving well, getting around the backhand side of the

:29:21. > :29:25.table to make us strong forehand topspin. Drinkhall is a senior

:29:26. > :29:28.member of the England team who earlier this year at the world team

:29:29. > :29:33.Championships in Malaysia got a bronze medal. The first time for

:29:34. > :29:38.over 20 years in with have medalled at the World Championships. It was a

:29:39. > :29:41.fine team performance. Paul Drinkhall contributing significantly

:29:42. > :29:48.along with Liam Pitchford and Sam Walker.

:29:49. > :29:53.Drinkhall was an outstanding junior, on the European Cadet Championships

:29:54. > :29:55.and the European Junior Championships. That is the under 14

:29:56. > :30:02.and under 18 age groups. Samsonov just winning three

:30:03. > :30:18.consecutive points. So consistent is the Samsonov once

:30:19. > :30:22.he forces his opponent away from the table. Does not make many mistakes.

:30:23. > :30:31.Has got to put him under pressure. Just miss timing the backhand

:30:32. > :30:56.topspin. Edge ball. A bit of good fortune for

:30:57. > :31:02.Britain's Paul Drinkhall, the halfway stage of this first game.

:31:03. > :31:07.5-5. You can see how the ball went upwards, that demonstrates it has

:31:08. > :31:15.caught the edge of the table rather than the side of the table. He did

:31:16. > :31:19.all the hard work. Excellent backhand down the line to set up

:31:20. > :31:24.beforehand topspin, slightly mistimed it. Tactics were good.

:31:25. > :31:31.Execution unfortunately not quite as good.

:31:32. > :31:48.Having been on 04 down, took a 6-5 lead. Excessive top spin. And again

:31:49. > :32:01.the players taking the opportunity, both of them, two towel down, as

:32:02. > :32:17.they can, every six points. That was a great backhand clock.

:32:18. > :32:30.Vladimir... He came back with speed. A great flick. Samsonov, renowned

:32:31. > :32:33.for his delicate touch. A well-placed flick right in the

:32:34. > :32:44.corner of the table. Perfect placement.

:32:45. > :32:59.And top-spin, putting Samsonov under pressure, but he managed to spin it

:33:00. > :33:10.back each time. And the player from Belarus now has a 1-point lead.

:33:11. > :33:34.Top-spin to top-spin rally. And it was England... Britain's polled Paul

:33:35. > :34:02.Two game points for Vladimir Samsonov, Drinkhall just taking his

:34:03. > :34:06.time. He has his two serves to come, still a chance, but he must take

:34:07. > :34:20.both of these points first, first coming up.

:34:21. > :34:34.Well done Paul Drinkhall, great rally, Samsonov spinning it back

:34:35. > :34:37.away from the table, Drinkhall waited for the opportunity then

:34:38. > :34:42.whipped one down-the-line. Good tactics. That is one out of one. Can

:34:43. > :34:47.you take the second point with his serve to take this game to 10-10?

:34:48. > :35:00.Taking his time. The serve drifted long. Samsonov Get in with a

:35:01. > :35:10.forehand top-spin and takes the first game, 11-9.

:35:11. > :35:18.You can see the serve just drifting long. Samsonov Can then play a

:35:19. > :35:26.stronger top-spin. Exactly what he does. Punches the air with delight.

:35:27. > :35:34.And the players, with their coaches, they have one minute to take on

:35:35. > :35:43.board advice. 11-9, Vladimir Samsonov of Belarus wins against

:35:44. > :35:49.Paul Drinkhall of Britain. His coach has done a wonderful job with Team

:35:50. > :35:55.GB players, performing some of their best table tennis in 2016. Bronze

:35:56. > :36:12.medal at the world team Championships with the -- polled

:36:13. > :36:18.Paul Drinkhall, Liam Pitchford, and Drinkhall has already defeated two

:36:19. > :36:25.players ranked above him in a great tournament, but he is trailing

:36:26. > :36:34.having lost the first game here 11-9. Both players back at the

:36:35. > :36:41.table. Second game, Paul Drinkhall of Team GB to serve. Great rally.

:36:42. > :36:46.Both players playing on the diagonal. Drinkhall, playing the

:36:47. > :37:04.forehand from the backhand side. Little bit of good fortune for

:37:05. > :37:08.Drinkhall, very quick to raise his arm and acknowledge his good

:37:09. > :37:15.fortune. One thing is for sure, Vladimir Samsonov will not let it

:37:16. > :37:23.upset him. He will just focus on the next point. That was a good backhand

:37:24. > :37:26.down the line. Drinkhall, already moving for the forehand, but just

:37:27. > :37:39.cannot quite get across. Drinkhall, playing with good power.

:37:40. > :37:46.Putting Samsonov under pressure. Again it is Drinkhall making the

:37:47. > :37:54.better start. Leading 4-0 in the first game, and leading now in the

:37:55. > :38:02.second game, can he keep it going? A wonderful return of serve. That was

:38:03. > :38:11.the last thing Drinkhall expected. Wonderful tactics.

:38:12. > :38:34.Three points each. Two very good returns of service from Samsonov.

:38:35. > :38:47.What a great counter top-spin from Drinkhall, anticipated the top-spin

:38:48. > :38:51.down-the-line, Samsonov goes for it, look at the top-spin and the side

:38:52. > :39:05.spin, bending away from Vladimir Samsonov.

:39:06. > :39:16.Interesting tactics from Samsonov, forcing Drinkhall away from the

:39:17. > :39:22.table, but he did not go for the rocket, just played consistent

:39:23. > :39:27.top-spin, kept the initiative, kept Drinkhall away from the table, who

:39:28. > :39:28.did very well to return the top-spin, but clever tactical play

:39:29. > :39:46.from the 40-year-old from Belarus. Consistent top-spin winning the

:39:47. > :40:05.point for Samsonov. Time-out called by Drinkhall, each

:40:06. > :40:08.player is entitled to one per match, it is only used when the player

:40:09. > :40:19.feels that his opponent has the momentum. Samsonov, winning the last

:40:20. > :40:24.three points. And if Drinkhall goes 0- two down that is a mountain to

:40:25. > :40:35.climb against the number seven seed. So, I think, a good call by Great

:40:36. > :40:38.Britain's Paul Drinkhall. He will be hoping to compose himself and will

:40:39. > :40:52.be hoping that the break in play takes the momentum away from

:40:53. > :40:58.Vladimir Samsonov. Alan Cooke played in the first ever Olympic Games,

:40:59. > :41:03.when table tennis made its debut, in 1988, he had a good tournament. In

:41:04. > :41:12.those days it was eight groups of eight. The top two went through, he

:41:13. > :41:16.finished third in his group. Otherwise he would have qualified

:41:17. > :41:21.for the last 16 when it became the knockout stage. Now it is knockout

:41:22. > :41:23.from the word go. You lose your first game and you are out of the

:41:24. > :41:45.tournament. 6-4. Samsonov To serve. So good with

:41:46. > :41:51.the control, Vladimir Samsonov. Clients around the table. Very good

:41:52. > :41:59.hands, good feeling. He is able to touch it delicately over the net. A

:42:00. > :42:04.very fine touch skill. He is able to play with an enormous amount of

:42:05. > :42:07.power. He just overhead that forehand top-spin down-the-line.

:42:08. > :42:10.Always more difficult going down-the-line than across the table.

:42:11. > :42:22.The target is that little bit shorter.

:42:23. > :42:37.Drinkhall, now with his two serves to come.

:42:38. > :42:45.Fishing a little bit away from the table, scrambling the ball back.

:42:46. > :42:50.Samsonov, taking the initiative, forcing Drinkhall away from the

:42:51. > :42:54.table, who did everything he possibly can to get back into the

:42:55. > :42:59.rally, but he is now three points adrift.

:43:00. > :43:08.What a backhand down the line. Took it straight off the balance. This

:43:09. > :43:16.really is throwing caution to the wind. Just look at the backhand.

:43:17. > :43:19.Samsonov, not even attempting to go for it, he could not believe the

:43:20. > :43:33.speed which it rocketed down-the-line at.

:43:34. > :43:45.Samsonov, edging toward 11 points. Drinkhall, he needs this point. And

:43:46. > :43:52.he was unlucky. That was a good return of serve. The long, fast push

:43:53. > :43:58.into the Samsonov backhand, but the control of the 40-year-old is quite

:43:59. > :44:05.amazing. Four game point to the 40-year-old from Belarus. This time

:44:06. > :44:13.backhand top-spin down-the-line, off the end of the table, Samsonov takes

:44:14. > :44:21.the second game, 11-6. He now leads 2-0.

:44:22. > :44:32.Paul Drinkhall up against it against a Vladimir Samsonov, ranked number

:44:33. > :44:36.nine in the world, one of the very few players who can trouble the best

:44:37. > :44:40.Chinese players in the world. It continues on the Red Button. If you

:44:41. > :44:45.want to continue watching that, it is on the Red Button. Let's go live

:44:46. > :44:49.to Helen, a big night of swimming finals.

:44:50. > :44:56.So much to look forward to in the swimming pool, James Guy is chasing

:44:57. > :44:57.a medal, but let's get stuck into the woman's semifinal of the 200

:44:58. > :45:11.freestyle. Just to the front of your shot is

:45:12. > :45:26.Missy Franklin of the USA. Four gold medals in 2012. Fastest qualifier,

:45:27. > :45:33.Micky Yule' -- McKeon of Australia. Barrett is in two for Australia. The

:45:34. > :45:38.London 2012 bronze medallist. Medallist all over here. The first

:45:39. > :45:44.semifinal of the women's 200 metres freestyle. And they must be careful

:45:45. > :45:48.because the second semifinal is absolutely stacked, I would not be

:45:49. > :45:53.surprised if gold, silver, and broadens comes from the second

:45:54. > :46:07.semifinal. But this is the first. This morning it was McKeon and

:46:08. > :46:14.Bonnie in good form. Barrett and Franklin have some history of... But

:46:15. > :46:18.it looks like McKeon leading them out. Strong, beautiful one stroke

:46:19. > :46:22.from the gold medallist in the 400 freestyle relay. A world

:46:23. > :46:29.record-setting Australian team, I think you mentioned them. Women's

:46:30. > :46:30.freestyle, originally called the Australian crawl when they first

:46:31. > :46:44.name did. And they have dominated. Bonnie and direct taking the lead.

:46:45. > :46:51.This is the least this is how she swam the heat. Interesting at the

:46:52. > :46:55.top of the shop, four, three, two, all of them starting to push the

:46:56. > :46:59.pace and it looks like maybe in three at the moment Shen of China,

:47:00. > :47:07.six at the World Championships leading with 150 to go. It is

:47:08. > :47:11.Barrett second and now the charge will come. It looks like it is at

:47:12. > :47:14.the top of the picture. I think it is lame to be as you mentioned. The

:47:15. > :47:20.19-year-old from China coming strongly through. All the way 1-5.

:47:21. > :47:24.They have dropped lanes six. Missy Franklin will struggle to make the

:47:25. > :47:28.final. Shen of China, looks like she's going very well inside the

:47:29. > :47:39.last five metres. She might win his first semifinal of the women's 200

:47:40. > :47:49.free. She does. On first six .0. -- one. Missy Franklin, eight. A great

:47:50. > :47:55.swing from Shen. The 19-year-old Chinese lady, very strong down the

:47:56. > :48:01.third 50. He received the start from where we are commentating. We can

:48:02. > :48:07.see that view. Coming down the first length was Shen. The Chinese with

:48:08. > :48:14.the Black cap on. And here in the line. This was the slower of the two

:48:15. > :48:17.semifinals. The fastest three in the world next year in the next

:48:18. > :48:21.semifinal, so important to get one of the top three places, I think.

:48:22. > :48:28.Looking over Shen had a quick look when she touched the wall. Two

:48:29. > :48:34.halves in that first semifinal, Shen McEwan and Bonnie and Barrett in

:48:35. > :48:42.1.56 six and a half and then it goes to 1:57.3. I feel like I need to

:48:43. > :48:46.properly welcome you to the pool for the finals tonight, lots to look for

:48:47. > :48:51.a two. James Guy going for a medal in the 200 men's freestyle and

:48:52. > :48:55.Siobhan-Marie O'Connor and Hannah Miley going on semifinals but why

:48:56. > :48:59.now we're looking at Superstars elsewhere around the globe. Missy

:49:00. > :49:03.Franklin, four gold medals in London, her four-year cycle hasn't

:49:04. > :49:07.been brilliant, not grey form this year, what is going on? She just

:49:08. > :49:14.seems to have gone off the boil. In 11, 12 and 13 she was the new star,

:49:15. > :49:18.she was like Katie Ledecky now, she had an injury and started

:49:19. > :49:22.university, so I would say, leave school. No, she's had lots of

:49:23. > :49:26.distractions. She came eight and sometimes you got to remember, being

:49:27. > :49:31.at the top for long time takes a lot out of you physically and mentally.

:49:32. > :49:35.Judge Dott she's just out of sorts. She has been asked to do a lot, but

:49:36. > :49:39.a lot of functions and charities in hospitals and she does everything

:49:40. > :49:45.but if we speak about the old guard, Pellegrini in the next semifinal, as

:49:46. > :49:49.you mentioned Camilla Jacqui and Sjostrom, what about Pellegrini, can

:49:50. > :49:53.G up there in the medals? The great thing for Pellegrini is she's been

:49:54. > :49:58.at the top of her game for so long. It is her world record and the World

:49:59. > :50:02.Championships last year she got a silver medal and she is Olympic

:50:03. > :50:10.champion from 2008. She is on the watch. I'm so excited about Katie

:50:11. > :50:14.Ledecky, I think we saw her in the 4x100 freestyle in the first day

:50:15. > :50:18.when she did a fantastic 100 metres split and then broke the world

:50:19. > :50:23.record in the 400 metres, personally I think it is the thread but

:50:24. > :50:27.Pellegrini is wanting to get on the podium so she will fight for a plate

:50:28. > :50:33.in trying to swim of Katie and Sarah at the same time. This isn't Katie's

:50:34. > :50:37.favourite event. She is aiming for medals. Least favourite, is the

:50:38. > :50:41.sprint event for her, really. I think she will enjoy this one more

:50:42. > :50:45.because you do when it is not your main event, it is not as much

:50:46. > :50:50.pressure, no one expects her to get gold as much as they do in the 400

:50:51. > :50:54.and 800. The pressure is off her a little and she used it as a bit of

:50:55. > :50:57.fun and something that is a bit different and to be honest I think

:50:58. > :51:02.she wants the four gold medals from this week. She or he has won silver

:51:03. > :51:06.and one gold, but she will want to add to that. This is the challenge,

:51:07. > :51:09.this event, because before in the bag broke the world record of eight

:51:10. > :51:13.she has in the back, she will win the 800 freestyle, this is the

:51:14. > :51:17.challenge and champions like challenges. It is worth pointing out

:51:18. > :51:22.this feels like a special place just now because we seem to of the

:51:23. > :51:26.women's swimming world but now we're surrounded by the families of

:51:27. > :51:30.champions, the Phelps clan are here, they will lose Becchio minutes, she

:51:31. > :51:34.is desperate for a couple with Boomer and Chad le Clos, you got up

:51:35. > :51:39.with the Phelps clan, how are they feeling? They were loving it, I

:51:40. > :51:47.jokingly said will be Michael Posner plus experience and they went yes.

:51:48. > :51:51.They went, my God, he has got more time. They are loving it. I said

:51:52. > :51:55.Boomer would remember it but I'm sure you will record it and do it on

:51:56. > :51:58.playback on day. More than enough pictures of Boomer, hundreds of

:51:59. > :52:00.photographers to catch a glimpse of the Phelps clan. It is time for the

:52:01. > :52:11.second semifinal now. The second semifinal is absolutely

:52:12. > :52:15.stacked. The fastest qualifiers, Katie Ledecky of the USA but we have

:52:16. > :52:21.the world record holder and Pellegrini and the great Lodygin,

:52:22. > :52:26.can she win -- Katie Ledecky? Fostered in the world this year.

:52:27. > :52:29.Here is Federico Pellegrini, Olympic champion from 2008 and world

:52:30. > :52:36.record-holder, she said the world record six times in this event,

:52:37. > :52:39.152.9 -- 1:52.98 is the world record. Amazing swimmers walking

:52:40. > :52:45.out. One of two swimmers who have called ready -- gold-medal already

:52:46. > :52:51.at these Olympics. The pressure is off. Sjostrom is a brilliance winter

:52:52. > :52:56.and Katie Ledecky, it might not be her main event that we know her for

:52:57. > :53:00.but she swam a phenomenal 100 freestyle, sub 53 in the American

:53:01. > :53:06.really so I think she will be very strong in the 200. What a line-up,

:53:07. > :53:13.three world record holders and 200 metres freestyle world record holder

:53:14. > :53:20.of this event is Pellegrini, there is the fork the eight and 1500 metre

:53:21. > :53:27.world record-holder, Katie Ledecky. And in five, Sarah Sjostrom, Sweden.

:53:28. > :53:32.World record-holder in the 1500 fly. Tomorrow's final will be fireworks.

:53:33. > :53:38.And a slightly slower first semifinal, so this could be

:53:39. > :53:40.interesting. Absolutely, we could see five of these swimmers get

:53:41. > :53:52.through. It is always easy when it does it

:53:53. > :53:54.and the names on the hand. She is in lane eight but she is a European

:53:55. > :54:07.silver medallist. Look out! Semifinal number two. The faster of

:54:08. > :54:12.the two semifinals. The centre lanes, three, four, five and six,

:54:13. > :54:15.Pellegrini, the Dickey, still strong and Coleman. The Swedes next to each

:54:16. > :54:23.other with the yellow caps having a very good dive and first couple of

:54:24. > :54:26.strokes out of the surface. You cannot out of print or swimmers

:54:27. > :54:30.right now. They contribute it last such a significant final session for

:54:31. > :54:33.me. And Adam Peaty, that makes and the three of them broke the world

:54:34. > :54:37.record in their events, very dramatic height of swimming and to

:54:38. > :54:44.come back and battle it out for the 200, look at straws trim. Coleman is

:54:45. > :54:48.nearest to us, very steady. She is and very smooth but she is working

:54:49. > :54:53.hard. What is really interesting, look at the decades leading in the

:54:54. > :54:57.centre, she is hammering down this first 100, she is not a sprinter,

:54:58. > :55:01.world record-holder in the four, eight and 1500 Suite -- freestyle

:55:02. > :55:07.but first a turn, 50 5.6 and she is working really hard that it 55.6.

:55:08. > :55:13.She looks very good in the yellow hat in the leading group. Pellegrini

:55:14. > :55:17.is renowned, black cap three from the top, round for coming back

:55:18. > :55:23.strongly on the second 100 metres. The two Black Caps keep an eye, is

:55:24. > :55:27.just is three, thought. These three women should battle it out for, I

:55:28. > :55:32.think the gold, silver and bronze tomorrow. Much quicker than the

:55:33. > :55:35.first semifinal. This is fascinating full stop Sarah Sjostrom are

:55:36. > :55:40.breathing away from Katie Ledecky in the Black hat and children is going,

:55:41. > :55:45.she is trying to go away, the decking is trying to work very hard

:55:46. > :55:48.but the speed of the straws trim -- Sarah Sjostrom, they are to test

:55:49. > :55:55.other they don't need to is fast and decking is hammering the last 50. I

:55:56. > :56:05.think shows that Sarah Sjostrom will get the touch. Very close. Look at

:56:06. > :56:09.that, 1:54.65, -- -- .8 seconds. She is looking at the club going, I

:56:10. > :56:14.think so. I agree, that was significant, I don't think the

:56:15. > :56:17.decking -- Katie Ledecky did not want to lose that, there is Sjostrom

:56:18. > :56:24.much stronger in the last few metres. Very interesting. Did the

:56:25. > :56:28.relay, lead of last year, did a faster time than Katie Ledecky's

:56:29. > :56:32.individual win. You are right, private battles between these two

:56:33. > :56:38.are not necessarily known for the 200 free, this is the third turn.

:56:39. > :56:45.Katie Ledecky going earlier and quicker than Sarah Sjostrom but the

:56:46. > :56:49.power and strength came from Sarah Sjostrom at the end. It certainly is

:56:50. > :56:54.and I'm not a professional phase reader but that smile, the cheeky

:56:55. > :56:58.smile that sort of says I did it, I was head-to-head and I won that

:56:59. > :57:02.battle, think that is one up to Sarah Sjostrom. It all even the

:57:03. > :57:09.matters to make the final, but a nice glide in. There are nice. That

:57:10. > :57:15.is a nice touch too on the right forearm. The two Swedish swimmers

:57:16. > :57:19.doing very well. I think Coleman qualified as well in fifth place. We

:57:20. > :57:25.will see that shortly but the two Swedes having a great semifinal. The

:57:26. > :57:30.second semifinal was quick, Sarah Sjostrom winning it with Katie

:57:31. > :57:40.Ledecky second. A fascinating battle and Pellegrini will certainly be in

:57:41. > :57:43.the final tomorrow. Four qualify. Interesting, very clear definition

:57:44. > :57:55.in the first four and then there is a split. A second gap between fourth

:57:56. > :57:57.and fifth. Sarah Sjostrom goes on fastest, Katie Ledecky second,

:57:58. > :58:03.Pellegrini third, all from that final heat. What a final tomorrow

:58:04. > :58:07.night that will be. Granted it is only a semifinal but unusual for

:58:08. > :58:11.Katie Ledecky to touch the wall second. What effect will that have

:58:12. > :58:14.on her head? She has never lost a race at a major meat, so I don't

:58:15. > :58:19.think she will like that, it was strange that over the last 25 metres

:58:20. > :58:23.Sarah Sjostrom swam away from her because you would think Katie would

:58:24. > :58:27.have the back end and the injuries, so I think that was a bit of a shock

:58:28. > :58:31.to us all that she could be playing games. It is fascinating in the

:58:32. > :58:36.sense you have Pellegrini as the 200 freestyle world record holder and

:58:37. > :58:39.Sarah Sjostrom comes from butterfly to freestyle and Sprint butterfly,

:58:40. > :58:43.she has that turn of speed at the end and I think she played and knew

:58:44. > :58:48.she had more in the end, I thought Katie Ledecky would bring back

:58:49. > :58:53.because no deck it does -- Katie Ledecky is an animal, but it showed

:58:54. > :58:55.a complete different race, that is fascinating for tomorrow. And a

:58:56. > :59:01.cheeky smile from Sarah Sjostrom that I think said game on. Jason.

:59:02. > :59:04.Thank you. We will that with you shortly. That bring you up-to-date

:59:05. > :59:08.with what is happening in the table tennis. Paul Drinkhall representing

:59:09. > :59:14.Team GB in his last 16 match against Vladimir Samsonov, the world number

:59:15. > :59:20.nine in complete control of this match. Three games up, that is

:59:21. > :59:24.available on the Red Button. Protest that if you want to continue the

:59:25. > :59:30.live table tennis. As for the tennis, this happened a short time

:59:31. > :59:34.ago, Novak Djokovic representing Serbia, beaten last night by Qun Ma

:59:35. > :59:41.Team Bella Gotrel -- on Mateen Del Potro in immense symbols and is now

:59:42. > :59:45.out of the men's doubles losing too Brazil. Marcelo Melo and Bruno

:59:46. > :59:54.Soares. This is happening on Centre Court. Kay Nishikori. A setup, too

:59:55. > :59:55.one up in the second set and looking good. That fellow looks really

:59:56. > :00:07.tired. There we go come if you want that is

:00:08. > :00:14.available online. Back to Helen in the pool. James Guy is world

:00:15. > :00:19.champion in the 200 meter freestyle, tonight he is chasing a medal in

:00:20. > :00:20.that very event. Out of the pool, he likes to do something not many

:00:21. > :00:44.swimmers get stuck into. It is very unusual for Ivanovic

:00:45. > :00:47.athletes does look for other big athletes to being gauged and

:00:48. > :00:51.fishing. I've been fishing for years and love it, obsessed. A great way

:00:52. > :00:54.to shut down and shut off from swimming and have something really

:00:55. > :01:00.different. It isn't all about pace, it is about what bait you use and

:01:01. > :01:15.float, it is a way to relax and enjoy myself.

:01:16. > :01:29.This is going to be really close... James Guy, Champion, 200 metres

:01:30. > :01:34.freestyle! Well done, sir. To get another medal was pretty special.

:01:35. > :01:40.Success at Rio would be getting a personal best, is that because two

:01:41. > :01:46.medal territory. And to do Great Britain and by family proud. They

:01:47. > :01:48.have done so much for me, so to pay back then. It will be a dogfight to

:01:49. > :02:01.the finish. I will try my best. He trains in the south but he is a

:02:02. > :02:03.proud Northerner. We are all behind you, James, good luck. Do your

:02:04. > :02:33.thing. A controversial character, line four

:02:34. > :02:40.Sun Yang almost setting himself up as the villain. The two metres

:02:41. > :02:51.freestyle. The world record holder is in six. And right at the top, Le

:02:52. > :02:56.Clos, he will be a really fast. What will happen? They will swim four

:02:57. > :03:02.lengths really quickly and three people will get medals. James Guy, I

:03:03. > :03:10.am not sure. He has got to be in amongst it. I want to get amongst it

:03:11. > :03:14.early. I don't want him fighting back on the last hundred. We saw

:03:15. > :03:18.that in the World Championships. That piece of film and we have just

:03:19. > :03:23.seen. He came back strongly against Sun Yang. But he has got to swim a

:03:24. > :03:31.little differently, in Elaine Aigner Sun Yang. But he has got to swim a

:03:32. > :03:44.little differently, in Elaine Lane eight. The world-record holder,

:03:45. > :03:53.Biedermann. Big breath. Come on, James. The final of the men's 200

:03:54. > :03:57.metres freestyle. A fantastic start on the right-hand side your shot.

:03:58. > :04:10.Look at that. He is a body length ahead of the rest after 50 metres.

:04:11. > :04:16.Le Clos, he will go, try to hold it, hang in there, and it is whether the

:04:17. > :04:21.rest can catch him. That is a crazy first 50 metres. James Guy is going

:04:22. > :04:26.very well, 1.3 seconds behind the leader, in third position, possibly

:04:27. > :04:32.second, closest to us, you cannot quite see him, but he is second.

:04:33. > :04:37.Dwyer is going well in three. But surely this is much too fast, and

:04:38. > :04:44.the far side, away from everybody, look at this, he is leading by

:04:45. > :04:52.nearly a second. It is crazy. Dwyer is enjoying it in three. He is

:04:53. > :04:58.sporting Le Clos and hunting him down, taking the field with them. I

:04:59. > :05:05.cannot imagine Le Clos will hold this. And ominously Sun Yang is

:05:06. > :05:11.coming through. Well they have anything left to the final 50? Look

:05:12. > :05:18.at how deeply has gone. He cannot hold his breath on that one. That

:05:19. > :05:26.really hurts. Le Clos, hanging on, but Sun Yang, in pink, is he going

:05:27. > :05:30.to win this? James Guy still going relatively well but the rest of the

:05:31. > :05:38.field is overtaking him. Le Clos, still going well, but Sun Yang will

:05:39. > :05:46.take the gold. A brave, silver medal for Le Clos South Africa. And James

:05:47. > :05:53.Guy has just been touched out in fourth position, by 16 hundredths of

:05:54. > :06:03.a second. So close to a bronze medal. What an exciting race. Le

:06:04. > :06:08.Clos, he was hanging in there, and has an African record. Showing on

:06:09. > :06:12.the clock. I thought the whole thing would fall off. But his arms would

:06:13. > :06:21.fall to the bottom and he would not finish the race. What guts. What a

:06:22. > :06:30.great swim. But the pacing of Sun Yang, it was perfect. He is nobody's

:06:31. > :06:46.favourite. If he is not careful he will start getting some boos. Le

:06:47. > :06:58.Clos The start -- Le Clos, his start! We have seen Michael Phelps

:06:59. > :07:04.do this. There is his mum and dad. They have had some troubles. Both

:07:05. > :07:18.are getting through cancer. What a brave silver medal. Dwyer, my man,

:07:19. > :07:40.gets a medal. Remember James Bond... The great big guy, what's his name?

:07:41. > :07:50.Was it Jaws? Well, that went well! He swims better than he throws his

:07:51. > :07:54.water cap. Mack Horton called him a drug cheat in his press conference

:07:55. > :08:00.and got about 2 million responses on the Chinese version of Twitter. He

:08:01. > :08:08.did, he called him a drugs cheat, saying, well, it is because he took

:08:09. > :08:18.and drugs. What a final. A brilliant, brave swim from Le Clos.

:08:19. > :08:28.Dwyer gets bronze. And James Guy, so close, 16 hundredths. I tried to

:08:29. > :08:32.control it like yesterday but I was unlucky and came fourth. It is

:08:33. > :08:38.devastating. I can hear it in your voice. It was such an interesting

:08:39. > :08:45.race, Le Clos went away like a rocket. He is a good guy and uses

:08:46. > :08:50.his strength under water. I knew I had a chance of coming back fast. I

:08:51. > :08:56.just missed out unfortunately. Different people swam a different

:08:57. > :08:59.way. Of course, I realised that at the start of the meet, the worlds

:09:00. > :09:05.are here and the Olympics are up here. In the first few days I let

:09:06. > :09:09.this woman control me and I was not in control of the swimming. But I

:09:10. > :09:15.getting into the meat now, and ready to do it on the last day with the

:09:16. > :09:19.boys. You are still only 20 and have another couple of Olympic Games in

:09:20. > :09:23.you. Yes, it has not been the perfect right, but I have enjoyed

:09:24. > :09:26.it, come forth, and if I was told a few years ago you could make two

:09:27. > :09:31.Olympic finals I would have taken it. You will now have a bit of a

:09:32. > :09:38.rest because you have the relay at the end of the week. Yes, looking

:09:39. > :09:43.forward to that, I will give it everything for Team GB and my

:09:44. > :09:49.family. Get some rest, we will see you soon. Thank you.

:09:50. > :10:00.It is almost the worst position, fourth, at one point you thought he

:10:01. > :10:04.would sneak it. We have seen Le Clos start well and then die off late on,

:10:05. > :10:10.that's where I thought James would overtake him, but it was still a

:10:11. > :10:14.good time, only 0.3 from his personal best. He will be pleased on

:10:15. > :10:19.reflection that he got down to where he wants the time to be. Just a

:10:20. > :10:22.shame that there's obviously a certain person in that field... He

:10:23. > :10:26.would have been on the podium were that the case. That is more

:10:27. > :10:34.devastating, someone who should not even be there. You are talking about

:10:35. > :10:39.Sun Yang, he served a drugs ban, and it was only announced afterwards, so

:10:40. > :10:45.not everybody's favourite person. Every athlete wants a clean sport.

:10:46. > :10:50.We all want lifetime bans to stop people from cheating. Anyway, but...

:10:51. > :10:54.It was a fantastic race. He did well. He looked like himself, had

:10:55. > :11:01.more colour back in his face, it looks good for the other coming up

:11:02. > :11:10.at the of the week. The woman's 100 metres backstroke final. We have to

:11:11. > :11:13.talk about Hosszu, having a phenomenal week. And a busy week.

:11:14. > :11:26.Look at this. A heck of a schedule. Swimming at this level in any race

:11:27. > :11:33.is demanding, they are older mending races. I hope she swims really hard

:11:34. > :11:39.and is then tired of the race with shop on tomorrow night, I would love

:11:40. > :11:51.for Siobhan to get a medal. Your wish may come true. Andy, Adrian,

:11:52. > :11:57.you heard what was said, I am sure you will join in with that opinion!

:11:58. > :12:07.There is Hosszu, and what an extraordinary world record in the

:12:08. > :12:13.400 medley. Amazing. But the swimmers who could win this are all

:12:14. > :12:22.over the place. In layman one, the world champion Emily Seebohm.

:12:23. > :12:28.Hosszu, in Fife. And the European champion, Nielsen, in seven. The

:12:29. > :12:33.final of the 100 metres backstroke for women.

:12:34. > :12:48.I have to say that the winner could come from anywhere. A decent start

:12:49. > :12:53.at the bottom from Smoliga the USA. Hosszu And Baker will have the race

:12:54. > :13:02.of their lives. The 19-year-old is looking strong. Anything around 58.5

:13:03. > :13:07.will win it. Seebohm, going strong, turning first, five hundredths of a

:13:08. > :13:14.second ahead. She does not want to let this go. By far the fastest

:13:15. > :13:19.swimmer. At the turn of Kathleen Baker in the centre was quite

:13:20. > :13:29.brilliant. Coming through in five is Hosszu. Baker in the black cat.

:13:30. > :13:39.Also, seven, Nielsen. And coming through in three is Fu. Oh my

:13:40. > :13:47.goodness, Hosszu, in the last few metres, just ripped it. 58.4.

:13:48. > :13:58.Relatively slow time, but she adds to that brilliant world record,

:13:59. > :14:13.Hosszu, can you believe it? Very strong in the last five metres. We

:14:14. > :14:21.saw her schedule. It took just around 58.5 to win it. The rest of

:14:22. > :14:29.the swimmers did not get down below 58.75. All the swimmers are still in

:14:30. > :14:32.the pool. Apart from Emily Seebohm who has got out already and is

:14:33. > :14:37.pretty much walking away from the side of the pool. What a shocking

:14:38. > :14:40.Olympics for her. She was so disappointed in 2012 to lose out to

:14:41. > :14:49.Missy Franklin after qualifying fastest. Came second and got the

:14:50. > :14:57.silver. I think she was seventh in this race. 59.1, far left of your

:14:58. > :15:04.shot, really off the pace. And she was first to 50 as well. Some of the

:15:05. > :15:08.swimmers in the outside lanes feel like they're only way of doing it is

:15:09. > :15:13.to blast out. Caution going to the wind and all that sort of stuff.

:15:14. > :15:19.Maybe the irrationality goes as well. Sometimes your emotions cannot

:15:20. > :15:24.control you in these situations. You need to be cold, calm, calculating.

:15:25. > :15:31.She is. Remind me never to get on swimming. Hosszu, winning gold in

:15:32. > :15:39.the hundred metres backstroke. Baker, silver, and tied with Fu,

:15:40. > :15:57.Masse takes bronze. Hosszu, she does not look tired, she

:15:58. > :16:03.is absolutely fine. How dare she! She just does not slow down. She

:16:04. > :16:10.accelerated in the last 25 metres. How is she so good in so many

:16:11. > :16:14.events? I don't know, if I did, I would be making a comeback. It is

:16:15. > :16:21.one of those things. She races so much. Her husband/ coach have a very

:16:22. > :16:28.unique relationship. He just goes crazy when she races. He is

:16:29. > :16:32.exhausting to watch, that man, he is not hard to miss, he has a ponytail

:16:33. > :16:48.and goes bananas whenever she is in the water. Another couple of bits to

:16:49. > :16:58.come, after we find out how Paul Drinkhall is getting on. Against the

:16:59. > :17:05.world number nine Samsonov, who took the first three games, Drinkhall has

:17:06. > :17:10.since remarkably saved a number of match points to take the game. That

:17:11. > :17:14.match can be joined live now on the Red Button. Let's hope that

:17:15. > :17:34.Drinkhall can stay in it. That is live on. Back to Helen. But

:17:35. > :17:38.on the Red Button. The men's backstroke, already some pretty good

:17:39. > :17:42.times in the pool and looking down the start list, particularly at the

:17:43. > :17:47.Americans, this could be really fast. Is that world record going to

:17:48. > :17:53.go? Think they will get close. Under 52 Crawley Western which one person

:17:54. > :18:01.has been -- only one person has been under 52. Murphy has been 52.1 as

:18:02. > :18:06.luck or, if anyone can do it, these are three of the best. They came

:18:07. > :18:10.close last year so when you add the occasion to this, what kind of

:18:11. > :18:14.effect does this stage have on your ability to go fast? It gives you the

:18:15. > :18:20.little extra 1% that the athletes speak about and I spoke with the

:18:21. > :18:24.individual medley people, sometimes you need 1% and you find it from

:18:25. > :18:28.somewhere, just from the crowd or see your team-mate or your mum and

:18:29. > :18:32.dad waving yuan, which you can do here, it is the 1% and for these

:18:33. > :18:37.guys a will push at each other and they are against the best in the

:18:38. > :18:48.world, all Hungary for that medal. Take us to this one. You join us

:18:49. > :18:52.with three swimmers to be presented, that was the favourite, Mitch Larkin

:18:53. > :18:57.of Australia. Here, the two Americans coming out of a David

:18:58. > :19:01.Plummer of the USA and Ryan Murphy and four, the fastest two. Would

:19:02. > :19:09.love to show you Camille Lacourt of France in Lane six and three, four,

:19:10. > :19:13.five and six are very difficult to choose, but maybe this Guy, Ryan

:19:14. > :19:16.Murphy. For those Americans it is their first Olympic Games and what

:19:17. > :19:23.tradition, America have won this event since 1996 and got one and two

:19:24. > :19:28.of the last Olympics. Plummer a very strong in Lane for. 30 years old in

:19:29. > :19:35.his first Olympics, father of two, he is a swim coach and he is here.

:19:36. > :19:42.The USA has a fantastic tradition here. The Australians, his

:19:43. > :19:45.girlfriend Justine seventh in the 100 metres backstroke, they were

:19:46. > :19:50.meant to go gold and gold, what will happen here? The USA have won the

:19:51. > :19:55.last five Olympic gold medals in the men's 100 metres backstroke. Is that

:19:56. > :20:00.streak in danger? I don't think so, they are likely to do it, Ms didn't

:20:01. > :20:04.look so good in the semis. You also mentioned Emily as his partner come

:20:05. > :20:08.he will have to shut that. Speak about existing in a bowl for ten

:20:09. > :20:12.minutes, you articles that off. He might feel for someone who's

:20:13. > :20:15.definitely hurting around the back somewhere, but this is his race and

:20:16. > :20:21.as world champion and someone who has consistently been racing very

:20:22. > :20:30.well in this event, he has a better chance than the 200. The USA has

:20:31. > :20:38.gone 1-2 in 2008 and 2012, can they do triple double? Mafi in four and

:20:39. > :20:47.Plummer in, Larkin and look for -- and the court from France. The

:20:48. > :20:50.starter help them a long time. The final of the men's 100 metres

:20:51. > :20:55.backstroke, this will be fascinating. The Americans in the

:20:56. > :20:58.centre, very good start from Ryan Murphy, 21-year-old from University

:20:59. > :21:01.of California Berkeley, great start from him. Expect them to get under

:21:02. > :21:07.the world record but in the first half. Relatively slow 25.3 five. All

:21:08. > :21:10.of these swimmers in the semifinals are on world record pace and they

:21:11. > :21:15.are right on it. Underneath world record pace that they brought so

:21:16. > :21:21.strongly to break 52 seconds. Right now it is Larkin in three but Ryan

:21:22. > :21:27.Murphy, very strong, still has 25 metres to go. It is anybody's. The

:21:28. > :21:30.world champion in three, Mitch Larkin is starting to fade. This

:21:31. > :21:35.looks like it is Ryan Murphy going well with the USA and maybe in five

:21:36. > :21:39.it is Plummer. It will be close to the gold medal will go to Ryan

:21:40. > :21:44.Murphy of USA. Yes, it does. Murphy takes gold, China in the silver.

:21:45. > :21:49.That is fascinating. The bronze to Plummer of the USA and Australia, no

:21:50. > :21:55.gold medals in the 100 metres backstroke. Men or women. Larkin,

:21:56. > :22:00.fourth. A great swim from Murphy, very strong into the turn and when

:22:01. > :22:06.he came out of the water, asserted himself. The first Olympic Games,

:22:07. > :22:12.brilliant. Came second in their trials and he was the second

:22:13. > :22:18.American in. Very close to the world record, an Olympic record underneath

:22:19. > :22:25.52, the only man under 52 and 31 hundredths away from Aaron Peers's

:22:26. > :22:30.world record. The 21-year-old from University of California. Look how

:22:31. > :22:35.powerful his thighs. Look at the start. I love watching them start,

:22:36. > :22:38.flick the hips a little sideways, fascinating to see, but what was

:22:39. > :22:43.great, is under what is good but the burst to the surface, then he used

:22:44. > :22:48.energy to go forwards, Larkin had a great turn, better turn, but the

:22:49. > :22:51.burst to the surface of Murphy wasn't that it was extraordinary.

:22:52. > :22:55.Clear win, Larkin getting an extra stroke in on the far left. The

:22:56. > :22:58.Australians expecting given they had the happy world champions men and

:22:59. > :23:06.women coming into this, they expected the gold and it has been

:23:07. > :23:10.hungering in America, David Plummer, 30-year-old getting the bronze

:23:11. > :23:16.medal. First and third, the Americans maintain traditional gold

:23:17. > :23:23.medal since 96 and one very happy Ryan Murphy, medley relay, a great

:23:24. > :23:27.lead off with him, and they? Fascinating and a very quick time,

:23:28. > :23:31.nearly the world record. Three 100s out. Ryan Murphy wins gold, new

:23:32. > :23:42.world record for him. A massive silver medal for Xu Jiayu. What you

:23:43. > :23:45.make of Ryan Murphy's time? Wow! And believable. Mark said it before the

:23:46. > :23:51.race, he thought they would get really close and dip under the 52

:23:52. > :23:55.seconds to do that is crazy. You can see how happy he was an fight

:23:56. > :23:58.result. It is bizarre because when he came out he was the only one who

:23:59. > :24:04.looked a bit like a shrinking violet. He didn't look confident. I

:24:05. > :24:09.think Murphy swims in America but in the collegiate system and has won

:24:10. > :24:14.for the last three years and that collegiate system races are so

:24:15. > :24:21.strong and he broke and smashed her salt's records all over the place.

:24:22. > :24:25.He is in form and coming in here and doing it. Larkin was world champion

:24:26. > :24:30.last year and called out, the court has won the world, he blew out, it

:24:31. > :24:33.shows you when the pressures in the mix and the adrenaline kicks in, you

:24:34. > :24:37.must be able to do it, Americans tend to love that environment. A

:24:38. > :24:43.shame from its Larkin The Miz girlfriend also bombed out, it will

:24:44. > :24:47.be a quiet night in their house. -- from Mitch Larkin and his

:24:48. > :24:53.girlfriend. Actor Jason to find out how Paul Drinkhall is getting on.

:24:54. > :24:57.Very much. Paul Drinkhall in his last 16 match against Vladimir

:24:58. > :25:02.Samsonov of Belarus. Samsonov is number nine in the world, after a

:25:03. > :25:05.great start winning three games but Drinkhall saved seven match points

:25:06. > :25:07.to take the fourth. We will show you what happened on the fifth game when

:25:08. > :25:16.we join up with Drinkhall. Looking like Samsonov isn't dwelling

:25:17. > :25:20.on the past. Has focused on this fifth game, to act points adrift

:25:21. > :26:05.with two serves to come. Very fluent backhand and forehand

:26:06. > :26:07.topspin is from Samsonov. Still, Paul Drinkhall leads 6-4. Two serves

:26:08. > :26:22.to come. A bit of good fortune from Vladimir

:26:23. > :26:29.Samsonov. It acknowledges that it, the ball hit the top of the net and

:26:30. > :26:40.trickled over. No one point in it. -- there is now. The ball down the

:26:41. > :26:48.line, said it through quite flat, no topspin on the ball. Forcing

:26:49. > :27:03.Drinkwater left. Six points each now. -- Drinkhall.

:27:04. > :27:14.It is a great return of serve. Use the spin and side spin with Samsonov

:27:15. > :27:18.on the ball, flick it wide. Has the side spin and uses it to angle it

:27:19. > :27:27.wide to the forehand of Samsonov. Clever play by Paul Drinkhall.

:27:28. > :27:35.Two points against the service. Paul Drinkhall with his two serves to

:27:36. > :28:01.come. Staying close to the table, looking

:28:02. > :28:03.to get in. A good flick and there he is, quick on his feet around the

:28:04. > :28:48.backhand, strong forehand topspin. The return of serve was great, the

:28:49. > :28:55.forehand down the line. Three-game points for Paul Drinkhall, you can

:28:56. > :28:58.sense he is beginning to get on top. Currently 3-1 down. But he is

:28:59. > :29:12.dominating just now, no question. The backhand down the line from

:29:13. > :29:16.Drinkhall, he takes the fifth game 11 - seven. It is a Vladimir

:29:17. > :29:36.Samsonov who leads by 3-2. We will show you the conclusion of

:29:37. > :29:40.that later. It is continuing on the Red Button if you want to watch the

:29:41. > :29:43.table tennis. Let's show you what is happening in the men's singles. Kay

:29:44. > :29:46.Nishikori is through to the third round of the men's singles, just

:29:47. > :29:59.seeing off the challenge of John Millman.

:30:00. > :30:09.Yes, you join us at a medal ceremony. It will be interesting to

:30:10. > :30:14.see how everyone react to Sun Yang. He has served a drugs ban, is a

:30:15. > :30:20.controversial character in the pool, he gets himself into a lot of

:30:21. > :30:27.scrapes. Andy and Adrian, let's see how people react.

:30:28. > :30:38.Well, he has got some applause. An interesting mixture. There is a chap

:30:39. > :30:49.below us doing very loudly. But Sun Yang, you have to say, paste it very

:30:50. > :30:54.well -- booing the very loudly. That might be his only gold. It was a

:30:55. > :31:03.really well paced swim and in the end, he won it by 50 51 hundredths

:31:04. > :31:06.which is not a small margin. The Olympic champion men's 200 metre

:31:07. > :32:05.freestyle, Sun Yang of China. Olympic champion, men's 200 metre

:32:06. > :32:10.freestyle. It is Sun Yang of China. A gutsy silver medal to Chad le Clos

:32:11. > :32:16.of South Africa in the green tracksuit and a great bronze for

:32:17. > :32:22.Conor Dwyer of the USA. Great Britain's James Guy finishing in

:32:23. > :32:26.fourth position just outside the medals.

:32:27. > :32:32.Interesting to see Chad le Clos, as he was getting onto his podium he

:32:33. > :32:37.was stretching and fidgeting around. He has still got his goggles around

:32:38. > :32:41.his neck! I love it! He has got to get back in in a minute. It makes me

:32:42. > :32:46.laugh, you could take them off and put them in your pocket. Does it put

:32:47. > :32:55.him at a disadvantage because he has to get back in the pulpit as Max not

:32:56. > :33:02.for that race. He went and did his own thing. But Phelps and Laszlo

:33:03. > :33:07.Czeh are nice and fresh. To be honest, he has got it in the bag but

:33:08. > :33:11.it will be hard going to get up and do four length of the butterfly

:33:12. > :33:20.stroke which is incredibly difficult anyway. Let's talk about Ruta

:33:21. > :33:29.Meilutyte. The next final we have is the women's 100 metre breaststroke

:33:30. > :33:34.final. Back in 2012, Ruta was a 15-year-old girl who did something

:33:35. > :33:37.very special indeed. Ruta Meilutyte, 15 years of age, her

:33:38. > :33:47.first major Championship. Heavens above, she is miles ahead.

:33:48. > :33:53.She has just made the Olympic champion looked rather ordinary.

:33:54. > :33:59.A new Olympic record and Ruta Meilutyte has qualified for the

:34:00. > :34:03.Olympic final fastest. She is holding an inlaid four for

:34:04. > :34:09.Lithuania. They have never won a medal in the swimming pool. It will

:34:10. > :34:14.be tight. Gold medal to Ruta Meilutyte of Lithuania and Plymouth,

:34:15. > :34:18.let me tell you. Is this special? It is too much for

:34:19. > :34:24.me. I can't believe it. I can't believe it! Olympic champion aged

:34:25. > :34:36.15. Well done! A lot has happened in the last four

:34:37. > :34:40.years for Ruta Meilutyte. She is the girl who jumped on to international

:34:41. > :34:44.scene, it was a prize medal and everyone fell in love with her. We

:34:45. > :34:48.like to claim her as if she is one of our own because she trains in the

:34:49. > :34:53.UK. It has been a bit up and down but she is still Olympic champion.

:34:54. > :34:58.No one can take that away from her. I personally think she has been

:34:59. > :35:13.struggling in the last 25 metres throughout the heats and the

:35:14. > :35:17.semifinals. I think it will be tough for her but she has had a tough

:35:18. > :35:19.year. Let's talk to Sharron Davies. You have spoken to Ruta Meilutyte,

:35:20. > :35:22.you were almost trying to convince her that she had won the medal. I

:35:23. > :35:28.remember that interview. I did all the talking. We have 315-year-olds

:35:29. > :35:31.who won gold medals four years ago and one of those was Katie Ledecky

:35:32. > :35:36.and they are both back in the pool again. It will be a controversial

:35:37. > :35:41.race this one because we have Yulia Efimova from Russia who has been

:35:42. > :35:45.banned twice and obviously made that appeal and is back in the water. Not

:35:46. > :35:51.a great night for drug takers in the pool, I have to say. I am quite

:35:52. > :35:55.staunch on these kind of things and Paul rolled James was fourth and he

:35:56. > :36:00.could have been third, maybe. I feel like that is a discussion we will

:36:01. > :36:07.delve into over the next few days and you are valid in your opinion,

:36:08. > :36:14.Sharron. Let's talk about Ruta Meilutyte. She has dealt with injury

:36:15. > :36:19.and she has a steely character. She had a bad accident not so long ago.

:36:20. > :36:24.If you look carefully she has a nasty scar on her elbow. She is one

:36:25. > :36:31.of the only ladies I know who can do it on the chin. I am from Plymouth

:36:32. > :36:39.and she trains in Plymouth and we would love to see her win. I think

:36:40. > :36:53.lots of people would and we kind of claim her because she trains in the

:36:54. > :37:00.UK. I went down there and saw Ben Brown because she trains down there

:37:01. > :37:07.with John Rudd. They have a gym there and it was a wonderful setup

:37:08. > :37:11.and the work they do is the nominal. She was Olympic champion at 15 years

:37:12. > :37:15.of age. That is something special in itself. I think with the injuries

:37:16. > :37:21.she have struggled to get back to where she was before and her and

:37:22. > :37:26.Yulia Efimova have struggled. Also Lillia King. We are quite strong on

:37:27. > :37:38.this and I do hope Yulia Efimova does not win and King or Ruta pull

:37:39. > :37:44.it out of the bag. Let's ring people up to date. Efimova served a drugs

:37:45. > :37:49.ban, she came back, she tested positive for a banned substance. She

:37:50. > :37:53.appealed that while it was investigated. After lots of toing

:37:54. > :37:57.and froing and appealing to different bodies, she is here and

:37:58. > :38:02.she is going to race. It will be interesting to see how she goes in

:38:03. > :38:08.this one. There she is. She looks slightly nervous. It will be

:38:09. > :38:13.interesting to see how people react to her. Andy and Adrian, I would

:38:14. > :38:17.also like to get your opinion. Adrian, you were part of the

:38:18. > :38:22.athletes commission who convinced the BOAC to put a lifetime ban on

:38:23. > :38:29.athletes who had served a drugs ban. That has been overturned but I know

:38:30. > :38:32.you have strong views on this. Absolutely. They went out. If you

:38:33. > :38:39.have a ban, you should not be allowed in the Olympic Games ever.

:38:40. > :38:47.That is where I stand. It was interesting to see Lillia King

:38:48. > :38:54.giving daggers to her. This is the final of the women's 100

:38:55. > :39:05.metres breaststroke. It would be great to see Alia Atkinson on the

:39:06. > :39:10.podium. She is very quick. She was a silver medallist at the World

:39:11. > :39:20.Championships. And here is Katie Miley. She could win. She is fourth

:39:21. > :39:29.fastest in the world this year. Now, Ruta Meilutyte of Plymouth and

:39:30. > :39:34.Lithuania, she has a great chance to become the first swimmer in history

:39:35. > :39:38.to defend a title as a teenager. Wouldn't that be something? It

:39:39. > :39:46.would. It is interesting that she comes back to Plymouth. She is a

:39:47. > :39:50.real hero in Lithuania and feels responsibility for stepping up but I

:39:51. > :39:58.think it might be too far for her here. Let's listen to this over

:39:59. > :40:05.Asian. Well, I have got to say it is unpleasant. It is not all of her

:40:06. > :40:13.making, I have to say, this situation. The IOC have got a lot to

:40:14. > :40:22.answer for. Well, here is the fastest qualifier for this final,

:40:23. > :40:32.Lilly King from the USA. She was standing behind Efimova and if looks

:40:33. > :40:38.could kill. She had a big old smile. For a 19-year-old in her first major

:40:39. > :40:48.championships, that is impressive. I think you called Katie Meili in name

:40:49. > :40:55.two. I think Ruta has struggled. It is tense. Goodness me, focus,

:40:56. > :41:05.definitely. I expect Alia to be out quickly. -- I expect Ruta to be out

:41:06. > :41:07.quickly but Alia will also be quick. The black suit is Lilly King of the

:41:08. > :41:33.USA, the fastest qualifier. Ruta has had a very quick reaction

:41:34. > :41:39.to the gun and a good start. A good start from Ruta Meilutyte, also a

:41:40. > :41:49.good start from Lilly King. Absolutely. Great start from Ruta

:41:50. > :42:00.Meilutyte. In lane two, Katie Meili will stop and Lilly King going very

:42:01. > :42:08.strong in lane four. Beautiful technique in lane five. At the

:42:09. > :42:12.moment, it is Lilly King and Katie Meili, the USA and USA, but here

:42:13. > :42:19.comes Efimova in the pink suit of Russia. At the moment, it is Lilly

:42:20. > :42:24.King, the fastest in the world this year and still holding on. Efimova

:42:25. > :42:30.is traditionally really quick in this last 15. Lilly King will win

:42:31. > :42:39.it! Lilly King gets the gold! That is fantastic! So gutsy. She came out

:42:40. > :42:44.almost with boxing gloves on. She was looking daggers at Efimova and

:42:45. > :42:50.she has won the gold of the 100 metres breaststroke. A new Olympic

:42:51. > :42:57.record. She won it by over half a second. Gold to King, silver to

:42:58. > :43:03.Efimova and the bronze to Katie Meili of the USA. I thought lane

:43:04. > :43:11.five was going to come through, but King dug in. She was propelled by

:43:12. > :43:20.something special there. The 19-year-old getting under 65 seconds

:43:21. > :43:26.for the first time will stop what a future she has ahead of her. A gold

:43:27. > :43:33.medal, the first Olympics and Efimova, the second American with

:43:34. > :43:39.that bronze medal. You can see a clear advantage getting in the water

:43:40. > :43:43.first. Slightly off centre. It is a good old start but it doesn't half

:43:44. > :43:55.make you wonky if you are not careful. Round the wall, you can see

:43:56. > :44:04.that big fly kick. King did not do much of one. That is quite special.

:44:05. > :44:10.You have to say the Americans were outstanding. How she held on in that

:44:11. > :44:14.last 15 metres, I thought Efimova was charging. She came out with her

:44:15. > :44:20.boxing gloves on, she was looking daggers and they're the embrace of

:44:21. > :44:29.gold and bronze, King and Meili of the USA. Super smiles. It is

:44:30. > :44:33.brilliant to see. I think King feels vindicated for the position she has

:44:34. > :44:52.very strongly held. A fantastic gold medal.

:44:53. > :45:03.Well, another teenage Olympic champion in this event. What a night

:45:04. > :45:08.for the Americans. Thank gosh that happened! I think we are all very

:45:09. > :45:15.pleased with that result. She did a fantastic swim, just didn't give up.

:45:16. > :45:19.Lily was not giving it to her. Credit to Lily King, a lot of

:45:20. > :45:26.discussion around would she be here or not, but I think Andy hit the

:45:27. > :45:36.name on the head when he he said Lily came out with boxing gloves on.

:45:37. > :45:44.Whatever you use as your motivation, she had been so strongly outspoken,

:45:45. > :45:54.she wasn't going to give in at the end. I think that was the best win

:45:55. > :46:08.of the week as far as the audience is concerned. Yulia Efimova will

:46:09. > :46:13.feel that. But they have to take a stance, if you test positive for

:46:14. > :46:17.something and there is a lifetime ban commission wouldn't be here in

:46:18. > :46:18.those circumstances. Why do we have that Hannah Miley and suborn Rio,

:46:19. > :46:28.coming up. What a great swim from Lily King --

:46:29. > :46:32.Lilly King. Let's bring you up-to-date with some table tennis

:46:33. > :46:42.action. We have been watching Team GB's Paul Drinkhall. We left it at

:46:43. > :46:50.3-2 and we join the action with Drinkhall leading 7-5 will stop.

:46:51. > :47:01.COMMENTATOR: 7-5. Seven -- five consecutive points for Paul

:47:02. > :47:05.Drinkhall. He's now got his two serves to come. Just over hit the

:47:06. > :47:40.backhand top-spin. Did well A long, fast serve down the line. It

:47:41. > :47:47.bounced a bit high. A very brave serve by Drinkhall. Seven points

:47:48. > :48:04.each, his opponent with his two serves. Wonderful short touch play.

:48:05. > :48:10.Kept the ball short over the net, soft hands required to do that and

:48:11. > :48:18.now all of a sudden he can explode with power.

:48:19. > :48:25.That is a great forehand top-spin down the line. Paul Drinkhall at

:48:26. > :48:34.full stretch there, couldn't quite get his bat on the ball sufficiently

:48:35. > :48:42.well to control it. So, a good run of points now by the number seven

:48:43. > :48:51.seed. Probably needs both these points. That is another three match

:48:52. > :48:56.points for Vladimir Samsonov. He's had seven already. This is his

:48:57. > :49:26.eighth match point. Good backhand top-spin down the

:49:27. > :49:35.line. Eight match points saved. Two more remain here. Can Paul Drinkhall

:49:36. > :49:43.save ten match points? He has saved eight! The umpire asking the players

:49:44. > :50:04.to keep play going. Oh! He's just over hit the forehand

:50:05. > :50:09.flick and Samsonov takes the sixth game 11-8 and he wins this

:50:10. > :50:18.fourth-round match by four games to two. It took him nine match points

:50:19. > :50:23.to do it. You can see the relief on his face. What a great performance,

:50:24. > :50:30.though, by Paul Drinkhall. But full marks to the Belarussian player,

:50:31. > :50:32.Vladimir Samsonov. He held his nerve and he is through to the

:50:33. > :50:38.quarterfinal. Well done, Vladimir Samsonov.

:50:39. > :50:45.Well, Paul, that was some fight there but you just couldn't quite

:50:46. > :50:50.pull off the comeback? He's a great player. I managed to somehow sneaked

:50:51. > :50:53.the fourth set. I'm really satisfied with my game, I was playing well in

:50:54. > :51:01.the first three and a couple of points here and there could have

:51:02. > :51:11.changed it from being 3-0 to him to 2-1 to me. You conceded seven -- you

:51:12. > :51:19.saved seven match points there. Does it show you how much you wanted to

:51:20. > :51:23.be the first Brit in a quarterfinal? Yes, I just want to win. I'm driven

:51:24. > :51:27.it was the other way round he would have managed to save those match

:51:28. > :51:31.points as well. In the fourth set I found my timing and health on top of

:51:32. > :51:37.my game. I let it slip a little bit in the last set but again, I don't

:51:38. > :51:41.think I did anything wrong. I missed a few balls here and there but he's

:51:42. > :51:49.a great player and it was a very good match. Paul Drinkhall. Samsonov

:51:50. > :51:53.is one of the best players in the world, but fair play to Paul

:51:54. > :51:58.Drinkhall, he hung on in there. Not the end of his Rio Olympics because

:51:59. > :52:03.he goes in the team event alongside Liam Pitchford. We will pop back to

:52:04. > :52:08.Helen shortly but let's just take you around the Olympics and show you

:52:09. > :52:10.what's available this evening. If you want a bit of Beach Volleyball

:52:11. > :52:17.Arena still going on, that magnificent arena on Copacabana

:52:18. > :52:23.beach, it is Venezuela against Australia. That is on the Red

:52:24. > :52:26.Button. If you fancy a bit of volleyball... Very noisy inside the

:52:27. > :52:34.arena tonight because the host are playing this evening.

:52:35. > :52:44.Great venue. Also its China against France in the basketball. That is

:52:45. > :52:51.available on the BBC Sport website and the BBC Sport at. Here on BBC

:52:52. > :52:52.One let's take you back live to the Olympic Aquatics Stadium and Helen

:52:53. > :53:02.Skelton. You join us with the music

:53:03. > :53:08.surrounding us. Well done to our Hungarian viewers, you can stay up

:53:09. > :53:14.late and have a celebration but we are poised for the next chapter in

:53:15. > :53:25.the great rivalry between Jana Cole and Michael Phelps.

:53:26. > :53:37.COMMENTATOR: He looks worried. -- Chad le Clos.

:53:38. > :53:49.Chad le Clos off very quickly in the green hat of South Africa. Michael

:53:50. > :53:54.Phelps very quick to the turn. Phelps is slowing down a bit but he

:53:55. > :53:59.will go for it. He didn't quite get to the turn as well as he normally

:54:00. > :54:05.does. He's looking tired, 50 metres to go and still the first to turn.

:54:06. > :54:11.If anybody can tough this out, Michael Phelps can. Is he going to

:54:12. > :54:16.make history? Chad le Clos is pushing him... I don't think he got

:54:17. > :54:18.it, he did not get it! My goodness me, Chad le Clos got the gold.

:54:19. > :54:28.Silverton Michael Phelps. You've just beaten the greatest

:54:29. > :54:35.swimmer ever in history! I can't believe it, I really can't! Michael

:54:36. > :54:41.is my hero. I never ever get tired of watching that moment, because it

:54:42. > :54:45.is hashtag unbelievable, as Chad's family emblazoned across their

:54:46. > :54:51.T-shirts! For both of them, this is one of the great contest, great to

:54:52. > :54:54.watch, great to see a play out. Talk us through Michael Phelps last

:54:55. > :55:02.night. What you saw on his face last night was that raw emotion of, he's

:55:03. > :55:09.missed this. I know he came back and you can see how much of a competitor

:55:10. > :55:14.he is. How pumped he is... I think he wanted a bit more of this stuff.

:55:15. > :55:20.Picking up his 19th gold medal in that relay last night. He's had a

:55:21. > :55:26.couple of years away and he's had a lot going on outside of the pool. He

:55:27. > :55:28.has said a lot publicly about how he's in a great lace, he's happy.

:55:29. > :55:38.With Becky Becky, you've met his baby, so cute!

:55:39. > :55:41.Michael Phelps seems to be in a very good players in terms of his head

:55:42. > :55:46.space and in a press conference this week no one even asked him what he

:55:47. > :55:49.was hoping to do this week because there was so much to ask about the

:55:50. > :55:55.occasion. What is he hoping for tonight? Just making it through to

:55:56. > :56:00.the final. I think he will hold something back. The main one is the

:56:01. > :56:06.final, tonight is just a process to get there. Chad le Clos will be

:56:07. > :56:16.feeling it especially down the last 50 metres. The only guy in the world

:56:17. > :56:24.devastated when Michael Phelps came back! We know he is on form as well.

:56:25. > :56:34.This is just about a process and getting through but I think Laszlo

:56:35. > :56:43.will be wanting to make a statement. There has been a bit of trash talk

:56:44. > :56:48.going on with their coaches. Michael Phelps's coach said Michael's turns

:56:49. > :56:53.are better than ever before! Chad, it was wonderful when you saw that

:56:54. > :56:56.clip when he said, he's my hero. Michael is the person he's had on

:56:57. > :57:02.his wall can he's always looked up to him. Chad will front people up,

:57:03. > :57:08.not in an aggressive way but every time he's been on the massage bed

:57:09. > :57:12.can he's always eyeing the Americans up and saying I'm not scared of you.

:57:13. > :57:17.You can see that in the wake he went out, he's not scared of hurting

:57:18. > :57:20.himself either. The difficult thing for him tonight will be to get

:57:21. > :57:27.through these semis, because he will be tired. But I think Laszlo is a

:57:28. > :57:33.bit of a dark horse here. If he's on form when he gets to that final,

:57:34. > :57:36.side-by-side with Chad and if he ends up on the outside, it's going

:57:37. > :57:42.to be fascinating. Interesting would you say about Chad and how he is a

:57:43. > :57:46.bit of a showboat because to his dad before we came on air he said it's

:57:47. > :57:50.different for Chad now, he has the expectations of the nation on his

:57:51. > :57:56.back. Maybe he's a bit different behind closed doors. Going into

:57:57. > :58:03.Beijing, we were thinking, who is Becky Adlington? He only got a

:58:04. > :58:11.bronze really! All right, back off! It is expectation, isn't it? From

:58:12. > :58:16.being, not nobody, but a hungry competitor. You go from being the

:58:17. > :58:22.hunter to the hunted. Completely. It's a different story in this event

:58:23. > :58:27.to what we saw Chad do in the freestyle. I think the night is just

:58:28. > :58:31.about making it through. I didn't personally think Phelps looks

:58:32. > :58:36.amazing -- looked amazing and very smooth this morning.

:58:37. > :58:38.CHEERING You can hear the crowd... I wonder

:58:39. > :58:46.where he is from! Adrian, let's get stuck into one of

:58:47. > :58:49.the greatest contests in Olympic swimming.

:58:50. > :59:01.COMMENTATOR: Thank you, Helen. There is Zheng of Singapore. Now Seto

:59:02. > :59:07.Japan can he was your favourite to that medley. I think he is an

:59:08. > :59:12.outside bet to win a medal to night. I've seen him as a child with a

:59:13. > :59:18.picture of Michael Phelps, his hero as well! We could see him having a

:59:19. > :59:30.go at him in the final tomorrow. I think Mark is right about Laszlo

:59:31. > :59:39.Cech easing off this morning. -- Laszlo Cseh. There is Laszlo Cseh.

:59:40. > :59:43.Ironically nicknamed him the alien! I thought I had read something that

:59:44. > :59:50.said he was the Alien, but it wasn't actually correct! When you see those

:59:51. > :59:59.green goggles... Can you see where I'm going? I can see exactly where

:00:00. > :00:12.you're going. Very scary but his mum inks he's beautiful! And I do too!

:00:13. > :00:16.Grant Irvine. You have got Japan in three and six, the third and fourth

:00:17. > :00:22.fastest qualifiers. Australia in five, the second fastest, but Laszlo

:00:23. > :00:35.Cseh of Hungary, the European champion, the world champion. Still

:00:36. > :00:43.not won Olympic gold. There is Laszlo Cseh. A good-looking chap,

:00:44. > :00:49.Ade! I think he's got a great chance. Just got to get through this

:00:50. > :00:54.one, though. Interesting, Ade, you shave your head but you leave that

:00:55. > :00:57.goggles strap sticking out bit on the back! Not sure you will get

:00:58. > :00:58.streamlined by shaving all your hair off and then having that speed bump

:00:59. > :01:17.on the back of your head! I do it know if you could hear the

:01:18. > :01:20.Brazilian commentators next to us, but they were shouting all the way

:01:21. > :01:34.through the take your marks of the men's 200 metre at a supply --

:01:35. > :01:36.butterfly. A great first length for Cseh. Slapping the water at the

:01:37. > :01:52.front, very effective. This is going to be interesting. He

:01:53. > :01:58.is going to post a which will cause the second semi to have a bit of a

:01:59. > :02:06.thinker. His leg kick is very interesting, Andy. He is not using

:02:07. > :02:14.his hit much at all. He kicks when his arms go in. Listen to the crowd!

:02:15. > :02:22.CHEERING The Brazilians have gone absolutely

:02:23. > :02:26.nuts here. He does have a strange stroke, and clearly straight arms

:02:27. > :02:37.and a kick in the wrong place for me. The two Japanese swimmers in the

:02:38. > :02:49.Black Caps separated by Laszlo Czeh in the middle. He held his glide a

:02:50. > :03:02.lot longer than the rest, Cseh. Sakai in lane three the 21-year-old,

:03:03. > :03:09.Seto coming back strongly. Sakai of Japan going well. Cseh gets it.

:03:10. > :03:19.Another comfortable swim for him. None of these big fly swimmers are

:03:20. > :03:21.good at swimming medium fast pace. That is another uncomfortable

:03:22. > :03:29.comfortable swim. I get what you mean. When they do 155s, they do

:03:30. > :03:33.look to be struggling a little bit. This guy can swim a good couple of

:03:34. > :03:40.seconds faster than this, just holding something back. It does look

:03:41. > :03:46.really difficult to hold back. Very effective with his kick but very

:03:47. > :03:55.unusual. Arms, almost the hands touching at the front. Very good

:03:56. > :04:04.flexibility. There are important to get to the front. I don't think they

:04:05. > :04:16.are showing their cards yet, are they. You can read faces, but the

:04:17. > :04:23.face of Laszlo Cseh, there is not too much happiness there. I am never

:04:24. > :04:29.seeing too much happiness. It takes a little bit of breath. The first

:04:30. > :04:46.semifinal. Laszlo Cseh, can he spoiled the

:04:47. > :04:51.Phelps and Chad le Clos party? He was a full two seconds off what he

:04:52. > :04:59.did three months ago. For me, it was a bit risky because you do not know

:05:00. > :05:04.what will happen in the second semifinal. Dairies Mr Michael

:05:05. > :05:23.Phelps. What do you make of that behaviour? Not many people have the

:05:24. > :05:31.headphones on. Phelps... Did you try and site people out?

:05:32. > :05:39.You could swim along and drag each other backwards. Did the last

:05:40. > :05:51.opportunity you get so I used to do some press ups. When I get nervous I

:05:52. > :05:59.start talking to people and they said, we are about to go and race.

:06:00. > :06:09.That explains it, you talk when you are nervous.

:06:10. > :06:15.We were both in a relay with Mark Foster and he did like to chat and I

:06:16. > :06:19.would say, go and talk to the Germans or something! I used as the

:06:20. > :06:24.next EU and we would send Mark Foster to go and talk to the other

:06:25. > :06:30.guys and do a cracking job of annoying them! He has changed a lot

:06:31. > :06:38.now, Foster, love him to bits! He talks too much! No, he doesn't. Here

:06:39. > :06:48.we go, the great Michael Phelps walking out in lane three. He really

:06:49. > :06:53.looks focused. The cool, calm, quiet collected swagger of a 19 times

:06:54. > :07:01.Olympic gold medallist, 23 Olympic gold medals. That is a bit of a

:07:02. > :07:19.mouthful, Chad le Clos's full name. And that is the 19-year-old

:07:20. > :07:26.Hungarian, the fastest qualifier after the heats. He did well in the

:07:27. > :07:40.heats. The fifth fastest time in the world this year.

:07:41. > :07:51.There will be no playing around. I tell you what, the nerves of Tamas

:07:52. > :07:59.Kenderisi. Chad is having a look around. Michael will not look at

:08:00. > :08:07.him. Chad is having a chat! He is. He was looking over at Bromer. They

:08:08. > :08:12.are staring at each other and Michael looks down the lane, he is

:08:13. > :08:13.looking at his feet, where he will get on the block, where he will

:08:14. > :08:47.place them. The second semifinal of the men's

:08:48. > :08:55.200 metre fly. What a great start. Equal first, Michael Phelps and Chad

:08:56. > :09:03.le Clos. He has to be careful going to much under water. Getting too

:09:04. > :09:10.much oxygen burn will not be helpful. Phelps, very strong.

:09:11. > :09:16.Listened to Bob Bowman talking about Michael Phelps. He said his turn was

:09:17. > :09:29.the best turn he has ever seen in his life. Tamas Kenderisi doing very

:09:30. > :09:35.well in lane four. Not being fazed by Michael Phelps. I remember

:09:36. > :09:41.Stephen Parry not being phased by Phelps in Athens and taking him on.

:09:42. > :09:47.Chad le Clos has had a little look around and Michael Phelps has got to

:09:48. > :09:53.work pretty hard down the first 100. Chad has got to be little bit

:09:54. > :10:03.careful here. Phelps going into this final turn may be a second, it looks

:10:04. > :10:10.very comfortable indeed. Kenderisi coming back as he did in the heats.

:10:11. > :10:17.Chad le Clos is a classy, classy swimmer. He is in third place at the

:10:18. > :10:21.moment, working hard, looking to see if top three is enough. Kenderisi is

:10:22. > :10:32.impressing me. He is going to win it.

:10:33. > :10:47.The crowd has gone quiet! Goodness me! He looks pretty confident. A

:10:48. > :10:53.thumbs up. That is massive. It is only the semi but Phelps was going

:10:54. > :11:01.for that one. Phelps did not swim a great trial in the 200 fly. I think

:11:02. > :11:06.he was quite concerned about it. He said he wanted to come back and do

:11:07. > :11:10.something better and I think you worked that pretty hard. What we do

:11:11. > :11:15.know about Michael Phelps is he never gives in. He is a strong,

:11:16. > :11:21.strong fighter and when he is in a race, he finds something extra.

:11:22. > :11:26.Kenderisi as a rookie, trying to take an Phelps, they are all at it.

:11:27. > :11:39.Somebody always has a go at him. Right now, in this particular race,

:11:40. > :11:48.Kenderisi stronger at the back. Chad le Clos doing enough I believe to

:11:49. > :11:53.make it in. Two Hungarian is in the top three. The result of the second

:11:54. > :12:18.semifinal and a bit of a shock. That will create a fascinating

:12:19. > :12:20.final. Kenderesi fastest. In the final, Phelps will be in lane five

:12:21. > :12:35.and Chad le Clos in six. Game on. Don't let us stop you, you are

:12:36. > :12:42.enjoying the tunes. We are at an Olympic Games in Brazil. Right, Chad

:12:43. > :12:49.le Clos, Michael Phelps, Ding ding, the most fascinating contest in the

:12:50. > :12:56.Olympics, but who else is in the mix? Kenderesi just threw himself in

:12:57. > :13:02.there. He has a poster of Laszlo Cseh on his wall. I did mean that in

:13:03. > :13:07.a weird way, they are both from Hungary. You have those two

:13:08. > :13:27.side-by-side in three and four and Phelps and look -- Chad le Clos in

:13:28. > :13:30.five and six. It is hard work. It is races like this which are

:13:31. > :13:39.fascinating for nonswimmers. There is a lot of showboating going on.

:13:40. > :13:44.Chad is an entertaining guide. Even the families are a total opposite.

:13:45. > :13:51.Chad le Clos's family are screaming and shouting but the Phelps clan are

:13:52. > :13:56.cool and calm. Bloomer is asleep. If you are in team Phelps, he is in

:13:57. > :14:00.there so often, he has got so many gold medals they probably think,

:14:01. > :14:07.whatever happens, it does not matter. In the last limpet games, he

:14:08. > :14:12.was ahead and he got caught by Chad. -- in the last Olympic Games. Now he

:14:13. > :14:16.has been caught by Kenderesi. He is planning to go out and hold on and

:14:17. > :14:24.the others will all come back on him. That is how it will play out.

:14:25. > :14:29.They swim very different races. Laszlo, you are fascinated by his

:14:30. > :14:34.height and weight. A lot of people say he comes up too high but he sort

:14:35. > :14:39.of dives forward with his stroke. One is not right and one is not

:14:40. > :14:43.wrong, it is just different styles. We always maintained, it does not

:14:44. > :14:48.matter what you look like on the surface, it is what you do

:14:49. > :14:53.underwater. Why doesn't he wear a hat? So much emphasis is put on

:14:54. > :14:57.shaving facial hair, surely the stubble on his head will make a

:14:58. > :15:02.difference? I have never seen him wearing hats. Some people like to

:15:03. > :15:07.wear headphones and listen to music beforehand. I do know, he just

:15:08. > :15:13.doesn't like it. Sticking with hats and how, the women have such long

:15:14. > :15:19.hair and so much hair. Siobhan-Marie O'Connor who we will see shortly, I

:15:20. > :15:33.said to her, get it cut off! She looks pretty, leave her alone! You

:15:34. > :15:40.need a speed comb. It is fine. It is probably lifting up more. A lot of

:15:41. > :15:44.people where two hats. You wear one you tuck your hair into, then you

:15:45. > :15:50.put your goggles on and then you put another hacked over the top which we

:15:51. > :15:55.call a bullet cap so it is super smooth and smooths out all the bumps

:15:56. > :15:58.with your hair. Well, the Americans are as smooth as anything this

:15:59. > :16:04.evening. We will see a lot of stars and stripes. Andrew and Adrian,

:16:05. > :16:12.please talk us through the medals ceremony for the backstroke.

:16:13. > :16:18.David Plummer just got his medal for the USA. He came third and fourth so

:16:19. > :16:31.many times. But what a surprise this is.

:16:32. > :16:48.52.31. Nine hundredths of a second ahead of the bronze medallist. China

:16:49. > :16:53.had a really great night. Gold, silver, bronze, I don't think they

:16:54. > :17:02.would have imagined that coming in! This young man had a great swim. He

:17:03. > :17:08.gets that silver medal. Protecting the legacy, if you like, of the

:17:09. > :17:14.Americans, since 1996 they have not lost this particular final. The

:17:15. > :17:29.sixth straight Olympic title for the 100 metres backstroke in a row for

:17:30. > :17:34.Team USA. Now Ryan Murphy of the USA continues the street. Six in a row

:17:35. > :17:47.for USA. He very nearly broke the world record of 51.90 four. Ryan

:17:48. > :18:13.Murphy's time, 51.90 seven. Olympic gold to Ryan Murphy of the USA.

:18:14. > :19:19.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Olympic champion men's 100 metre

:19:20. > :19:24.backstroke, Ryan Murphy of the USA continuing that fantastic streak of

:19:25. > :19:32.the USA, six in a row now. Silver medal, Jiayu Xu of China. Big

:19:33. > :19:35.surprise, that. And delighted for 30-year-old David Plummer, finally

:19:36. > :19:37.gets his chance at an Olympic Games at 30 years of age and gets a

:19:38. > :19:48.bronze. Congratulations, Ryan Murphy. First

:19:49. > :19:53.Olympic Games and first gold medal at 21 years of age. While we were

:19:54. > :19:57.listening to the American national anthem, Sharron Davies was speaking

:19:58. > :20:00.to a South African who has had a very successful night in the pool.

:20:01. > :20:05.What is going on in the cool room? Nothing, I just want to race the

:20:06. > :20:08.best! You're such a ! It is what it is. -- such a

:20:09. > :20:24.fibber! He's now got another young guy

:20:25. > :20:30.napping at his heels as well. It's going to be a great night. It's a

:20:31. > :20:35.great opportunity for me and another five or six guys in the final. I

:20:36. > :20:41.just want to do me and my family proud. How are they? Been hard. But

:20:42. > :20:46.I'm doing it for them and for my supporters. We watched it a lot in

:20:47. > :20:53.the UK, Europe documentary, you must be very proud. Thank you, I am very

:20:54. > :21:02.proud. Thanks to everyone who helped put it together. What possessed you

:21:03. > :21:08.to go out so fast? I wanted to try and go fast and see if I could hang

:21:09. > :21:14.on, to see what happens! Chad le Clos referring to the fact that both

:21:15. > :21:32.of his parents, Bert, who was catapulted to international fame

:21:33. > :21:36.with a win as had cancer and his mother a double mastectomy.

:21:37. > :21:42.His family are so, so lovely. They come over and say hello, they are so

:21:43. > :21:55.lovely, so passionate about this board. You can see how passionate

:21:56. > :21:59.they are. Do you feel differently about your Olympic medals now that

:22:00. > :22:03.you're a parent. Do you know what you put your parents through? Yes,

:22:04. > :22:07.and I always thank my parents, I always have done will start I've

:22:08. > :22:11.always been one of those athletes, I've always appreciated what my

:22:12. > :22:16.family I could fight, not just my parents, my sisters and everyone

:22:17. > :22:22.were fantastic. That's what makes swimming so fantastic, it's all

:22:23. > :22:26.about the family. Michael Phelps's family, Chad's family, the Murphys

:22:27. > :22:36.are down there, Adam Peaty's family, it is fantastic, they are a family.

:22:37. > :22:40.My dad where's my medals more than I do! I think you take them to work

:22:41. > :22:45.under his suit! That what's -- that's what it's all about, getting

:22:46. > :22:51.up at 5am, you can't drive until you're 17, so there's a long time in

:22:52. > :22:58.swimming. You said your mum couldn't watch committee used to get so

:22:59. > :23:02.nervous? Yes, until I was about 30 she didn't come out and then she

:23:03. > :23:13.came out for the Olympic Games in 2000. They said she couldn't watch!

:23:14. > :23:20.As a kid, occasionally I did a false start and she thought by watching me

:23:21. > :23:24.it would happen! My lengths were 20 seconds, so she flew all the way to

:23:25. > :23:28.Australia for ten seconds! It's like Becky says, what you don't see...

:23:29. > :23:32.It's wonderful when using a raw emotion from the athlete but for the

:23:33. > :23:38.parents, how much they sacrifice. We only ever see what goes on on the

:23:39. > :23:41.TV, people at home. The hours and hours and hours that people put in

:23:42. > :23:48.in the pool and the sacrifices they make for training, it's a normal

:23:49. > :23:58.life to us because it's what we do but you make a lot of sacrifices. I

:23:59. > :24:06.spoke to Siobhan's parents and she couldn't watch, she used to put her

:24:07. > :24:10.head in her hand back and I said don't do it at the Olympics because

:24:11. > :24:16.people would think she was throwing up! My mum used to say, tell me when

:24:17. > :24:20.it's halfway, tell me when it's halfway! They are such a close

:24:21. > :24:26.family as well. Siobhan loves being at home. She hated being away from

:24:27. > :24:32.home and she really misses it, she gets really homesick, she really

:24:33. > :24:36.misses her parents and she's just so grateful that there are about here.

:24:37. > :24:43.The whole team seems like such a great family unit. Adam Peaty took

:24:44. > :24:46.the opportunity to pace up and down the site encouraging Jazz Carlin and

:24:47. > :24:50.helping her, it seems like a really good team. But as you said,

:24:51. > :24:54.Siobhan-Marie O'Connor is coming up in her semifinal. Let's have a look

:24:55. > :25:00.at her achievements over the last few years. A very impressive young

:25:01. > :25:03.woman, isn't she? She came onto the scene at London 2012 not even in her

:25:04. > :25:07.favourite event, she didn't make it in that but scrapped her way onto

:25:08. > :25:13.the team. She's in a very different position now. Definitely, even with

:25:14. > :25:19.the 200 individual medley, tactic wise, she just goes out for it and

:25:20. > :25:25.hangs on and she's really grown up and mature with how she approaches

:25:26. > :25:36.the race as well. It is very difficult because you know that her

:25:37. > :25:41.opponent is going to be out ahead, but she posted a very good time and

:25:42. > :25:52.she will be wanting to see how she can back it up. She will be wanting

:25:53. > :25:54.a fast enough time. Let's see our British girls in action, Hannah

:25:55. > :26:06.Miley and Siobhan-Marie O'Connor. COMMENTATOR: Thank you, we just

:26:07. > :26:27.missed Hannah Miley, who is in lane seven.

:26:28. > :26:38.Alicia Coutts in three for Australia. Didn't Siobhan-Marie

:26:39. > :26:43.O'Connor swim well in the hit this morning? I thought she was

:26:44. > :26:52.fantastic. A clear second place. I don't know, tomorrow, to push

:26:53. > :26:58.Hosszu, there will be a lot in the tank from Hosszu, but Siobhan-Marie

:26:59. > :27:06.O'Connor, Silver medal, I think she can push for gold. If she swims to

:27:07. > :27:14.her tactics, her own race, I think she odds-on for the silver. If she

:27:15. > :27:20.adjusts it a bit and goes out hard and tries to catch Hosszu... She's

:27:21. > :27:21.got to be brave tomorrow. Siobhan-Marie O'Connor in the

:27:22. > :27:39.centre. Silver medal in the 100 fly. So, Siobhan-Marie O'Connor of Great

:27:40. > :27:47.Britain in four. Hannah Miley down close to do as in lane seven. A very

:27:48. > :27:56.good start in Bede, she is a great starter, Siobhan-Marie O'Connor. A

:27:57. > :28:00.good fly swimmer with the yellow cap of Australia, Alicia Coutts. But

:28:01. > :28:06.Siobhan-Marie O'Connor really asserting herself in the first 40

:28:07. > :28:15.metres. Fantastic first 50 metres from O'Connor. She didn't quite spot

:28:16. > :28:20.the wall, a choppy stroke and lost a lot of that momentum going into that

:28:21. > :28:26.wall. This is the bit that I think she will struggle with. Hosszu just

:28:27. > :28:29.won the gold-medal in the 100 metres backstroke at this Olympic Games.

:28:30. > :28:44.She's a brilliant backstroke swimmer. You want to enter the water

:28:45. > :28:48.with those hands closer together. Siobhan-Marie O'Connor... Dirado

:28:49. > :28:58.came back really strong there. This is really exciting, I love

:28:59. > :29:06.watching the breaststroke. A little bit of a surprise, maybe, breaking

:29:07. > :29:12.the British record in that breast. Goodness me, she looks fantastic

:29:13. > :29:28.-- Siobhan-Marie O'Connor will be the fastest in this particular final

:29:29. > :29:35.by a good old body length. Really strong right now. Working again on

:29:36. > :29:41.the freestyle kick, a real strength of hers now and she will need this

:29:42. > :29:46.in the final tomorrow. Siobhan-Marie O'Connor is going to break the

:29:47. > :29:52.British record, I'm sure. 2:07.50 seven. She's broken the British

:29:53. > :30:00.record by seven tenths of a second. Goodness me, 2:07.5, that is

:30:01. > :30:05.wonderful. The Olympic record, let's not forget, is anybody in any

:30:06. > :30:17.Olympics ever, and she's just no .1 of a second away from that record.

:30:18. > :30:34.Katinka Hosszu this year has slumped two point 73 in the heats.

:30:35. > :30:39.Interesting straight arm freestyle. She got a silver medal in the

:30:40. > :30:43.Commonwealth Games. She certainly understands the distance and the

:30:44. > :30:50.feeling inside that last 50 metres. Look at that. She is delighted and

:30:51. > :30:55.so she would be. It was Katinka Hosszu who set the Olympic record in

:30:56. > :31:05.the heats this morning. Let's see what she can deliver tonight. A

:31:06. > :31:06.brilliant results. Very good time, a new British record. Hannah Miley in

:31:07. > :31:21.sixth. Huge congratulations to

:31:22. > :31:28.Siobhan-Marie O'Connor. A fantastic race. I love watching her race. Her

:31:29. > :31:33.butterfly, her breaststroke is incredible. I do worry about the

:31:34. > :31:38.backstroke leg because that is where Katinka Hosszu is strong. It will be

:31:39. > :31:43.interesting to see if Siobhan can keep up with her or if she will swim

:31:44. > :31:48.her reign race but she could be coming home with a silver medal. How

:31:49. > :31:57.important are the tactics in a race like this? You need four good

:31:58. > :32:03.strokes but Hosszu is an unbelievably strong backstroke

:32:04. > :32:06.swimmer. Siobhan is whether Sharron Davies.

:32:07. > :32:15.Well done, you look very pleased. Yes, I really wanted to crack the

:32:16. > :32:22.2.08 for awhile. I just felt really good. I am really pleased with that

:32:23. > :32:27.time. I have wanted to get that time for a long time. I noticed you

:32:28. > :32:35.spotted your parents and said hello when you came out, that is obviously

:32:36. > :32:42.important to you? Yes... I saw the team but I did not see my mum and

:32:43. > :32:46.dad. They are definitely here. It was so good that I got to see them

:32:47. > :32:49.the other day. It means everything that they are here because it is so

:32:50. > :32:54.nice to know they are not that far away and when I need them they are

:32:55. > :33:00.right there. The guys are saying you are going to have to take her on

:33:01. > :33:06.which means it is your breaststroke versus her backstroke and your

:33:07. > :33:09.breast rate is so fast now. She has dominated the medley events for so

:33:10. > :33:16.long. I will definitely give her a race. She has such a strong

:33:17. > :33:23.backstroke. I have really worked on it this year. My breaststroke has

:33:24. > :33:28.come on leaps and bounds. I hope I can give her a good race for

:33:29. > :33:34.tomorrow. All the best for tomorrow. Cheers.

:33:35. > :33:44.So there is Katinka Hosszu. And her team-mate is in lane two. Margulis

:33:45. > :34:04.of the USA is in lane five. Last off the blocks and she got left

:34:05. > :34:15.on the blocks, Katinka Hosszu in the centre. That was interesting.

:34:16. > :34:39.Maralis had -- Margalis had a very strong swim. This is the backstroke

:34:40. > :34:46.leg. In lane one going well is the German swimmer. She was going well

:34:47. > :34:55.but she is not a backstroke swimmer and Katinka Hosszu is the new

:34:56. > :35:02.Olympic champion. She does not stop. She breathes every time one of her

:35:03. > :35:11.ans goes over. -- one of her arms goes over. A big kick and a little

:35:12. > :35:20.wiggle. A little wriggle is not allowed, Katinka. A slap on the

:35:21. > :35:30.wrist. Siobhan will have to be close and worked really hard on this. Down

:35:31. > :35:44.in lane six is Shiwen Ye of China. She is closing up the gap a little

:35:45. > :35:51.bit. This is interesting. Hosszu turned exactly one seconds slower

:35:52. > :36:04.than Ocado did in the first heat. -- bank O'Connor did.

:36:05. > :36:10.This is going to be very interesting. Siobhan-Marie O'Connor

:36:11. > :36:16.will go into the final tomorrow night fastest. Good Disney! Hosszu

:36:17. > :36:47.wins the second semifinal. There was a bit of talk this morning

:36:48. > :36:51.around Siobhan-Marie O'Connor, a great second place but I would like

:36:52. > :36:58.to see her win it tomorrow night. If you are out there, stay up, set the

:36:59. > :37:03.alarm because I think Siobhan-Marie O'Connor has a great chance of

:37:04. > :37:15.beating his wife. That is her husband and coach. She has had a

:37:16. > :37:20.tough session. She has had a big old session, qualifying now in second

:37:21. > :37:41.place for the final. She will have more to come tomorrow.

:37:42. > :37:47.Siobhan-Marie O'Connor will go into the final fastest, how exciting is

:37:48. > :37:54.that? Tomorrow night it is the final. The defending champion goes

:37:55. > :38:06.fourth fastest. That is a massive call from Adrian

:38:07. > :38:12.Moorhouse. Siobhan-Marie O'Connor could beat Katinka Hosszu. It is

:38:13. > :38:18.possible. It is a world beating time. She could become Olympic

:38:19. > :38:26.champion. Hosszu has a dilemma tomorrow. She has the 200 fly heats

:38:27. > :38:29.in the morning and the semis in the evening which is about an hour

:38:30. > :38:33.before the medley. If she is the iron lady I think she will do both

:38:34. > :38:38.but Siobhan-Marie O'Connor has put a shot across the bow and I think she

:38:39. > :38:44.will pull out of that tomorrow. Siobhan has a big shout. Like the

:38:45. > :38:49.guys say, gamble on it. The silver is almost guaranteed. Have a shot,

:38:50. > :38:54.go at it and see if she can respond. If you are going to put everything

:38:55. > :38:59.out there, this is the place to do it. It would be amazing if she could

:39:00. > :39:09.get that gold medal. Even that swim there was a huge British record and

:39:10. > :39:12.a personal best time for her. She looked so controlled. I think she

:39:13. > :39:15.had more to give. I think she can challenge her. It is so tough

:39:16. > :39:20.against someone like Hosszu who has the experience and is so good at

:39:21. > :39:28.everything. It is interesting to see her body language with Sharron

:39:29. > :39:32.Davies. She did not look that tired. Hannah Miley is celebrating her

:39:33. > :39:37.birthday but no place in the final. She seemed like she was enjoying

:39:38. > :39:41.herself so good times for Hannah Miley. Unfortunately for James Guy,

:39:42. > :39:46.he missed out on an agonisingly fourth place but do not let it be

:39:47. > :39:52.said that the swimming pool is a dull place. If you have had a belt

:39:53. > :39:58.day, look at this chap. He will make you smile! He has not got the Monday

:39:59. > :40:05.blues. It is Monday in Brazil, everyone, it is the Olympics and he

:40:06. > :40:08.is having a ball. Jason, I saw him and thought of you!

:40:09. > :40:12.You cheeky rascal! I will show you my break dancing skills one evening.

:40:13. > :40:18.Before we leave you, let's bring you some news from the world of

:40:19. > :40:24.gymnastics. A Dutch gymnast has been kicked out by the country's Olympic

:40:25. > :40:29.Committee for violating team rules over the consumption of alcohol. He

:40:30. > :40:35.had qualified for the final of the men's rings but reportedly he has

:40:36. > :40:39.already been sent home. It was described as a difficult decision

:40:40. > :40:44.but his behaviour was described as unacceptable. Let's bring you

:40:45. > :40:51.up-to-date with all of Day three's headlines.

:40:52. > :40:55.Britain's Tom Daley and Dan Goodfellow won Olympic bronze in the

:40:56. > :41:07.men's synchronised ten metre platform. Well done, boys.

:41:08. > :41:10.And another medal for Team GB came with Ed Ling who took bronze in the

:41:11. > :41:25.men's trap, holding his nerve. Sadly, Great Britain missed out on a

:41:26. > :41:30.medal in the men's gymnastics team final after Lewis Smith came off the

:41:31. > :41:35.pommel horse. Japan taking gold ahead of Russia and China.

:41:36. > :41:40.Disappointment as well in the women's rugby sevens. Defeats to New

:41:41. > :41:43.Zealand and Canada wrecking the chances of a medal will stop

:41:44. > :41:51.Australia crowned the first Olympic champions in the sport. And Brazil

:41:52. > :42:03.won their first gold of the Games with Rafaela Silver triumphing in

:42:04. > :42:10.the women's judo. Fabulous scenes. Let's take a look at the medal

:42:11. > :42:33.table. 14 golds up for grabs today. The United States lead the way.

:42:34. > :42:43.Let's take a look at what we have got in store a four. Our coverage

:42:44. > :42:45.gets underway with Hazel on BBC One at one. We will have the climax of

:42:46. > :43:16.the event in show-jumping. Britain hoped to add Olympic gold to

:43:17. > :43:22.the world title in the men's 4x200 free. So, another amazing day comes

:43:23. > :43:28.to a close at Rio 2016. It has been a wonderful day for the hosts. They

:43:29. > :43:34.won their first gold medal. A day of highs and lows for Team GB but it

:43:35. > :43:39.has been another outstanding day of sport.

:43:40. > :43:44.Goodbye for now. Will it be enough? They have done it!

:43:45. > :44:08.Ed Ling takes the bronze medal here. Australia, champions of women's

:44:09. > :44:14.sevens. How'd you like that? What a magnificent moment!
