:00:58. > :01:02.COMMENTATOR: That's it, Great Britain into the semifinals!

:01:03. > :01:11.Bronze medal for Conway. She fully deserved that.

:01:12. > :01:22.And its Joe Clark of Great Britain, the Olympic champion from 2016.

:01:23. > :01:36.He takes the bronze. It is gold! Laugher and Chris The Miz have done

:01:37. > :01:40.it. -- Chris The Miz. Welcome back to the Copacabana. Plenty of music

:01:41. > :01:44.and passion here, day five of the Rio Olympics and the hosts in the

:01:45. > :01:46.men's double tournament under a bit of pressure.

:01:47. > :01:49.And we have another showdown in the pool for you. This is what's coming

:01:50. > :01:58.up. Britain's men's hockey team face

:01:59. > :02:04.Australia who beat GB 31 to take bronze in London four years ago. --

:02:05. > :02:08.3-1. We could have more medals in Nepal for Team GB, Andrew Willis in

:02:09. > :02:15.with a real shot of a podium place in the final -- in the pool. That's

:02:16. > :02:18.in the 200m breastroke. After Phelps and Le Clos tomorrow, it is Phelps

:02:19. > :02:25.against Ryan Lochte later in the latest fight in the pool.

:02:26. > :02:31.And Brazil's men's bubble team haven't even scored yet in this

:02:32. > :02:36.tournament, they need a big win against Denmark later to silence the

:02:37. > :02:42.critics -- football team. Let's look at how we line up. Hockey, Great

:02:43. > :02:47.Britain's team start in around 25 minutes, then Brazil against Denmark

:02:48. > :02:51.at 2am at the Fontera Nova Arena in Salvador in the north of the

:02:52. > :02:56.country. Andrew Willis goes in his final later and Phelps against

:02:57. > :02:58.Lochte and 3:38 a.m., another chance to see the legend that is the

:02:59. > :03:07.greatest Olympian of all time. So, after two Silvers in the pool on

:03:08. > :03:14.day four, can this be Andrew Willis' night?

:03:15. > :03:22.Rio, your second games, how excited are you to be returning to the

:03:23. > :03:26.Olympic stage? Very -- Games. For me, it is controlled excitement.

:03:27. > :03:32.Going to London, a bit younger then, for me it was... I was in or. I

:03:33. > :03:37.don't think I got lost so much in the excitement. I was still

:03:38. > :03:40.determined and focused. COMMENTATOR: Massive ovation, Andrew

:03:41. > :03:44.Willis in lane three. You got to the final in London, how

:03:45. > :03:51.much of a benefit is that in your mental block are going into a second

:03:52. > :03:55.Olympics? It's huge, going into the second round in the Olympics is

:03:56. > :03:59.great for every athlete -- locker. The heats are that bit quicker and

:04:00. > :04:03.the semis are that bit quicker. There's a real feel to it that you

:04:04. > :04:08.need to put everything really into each round just to make sure you put

:04:09. > :04:13.yourself in that final and putting yourself in the next. At the moment

:04:14. > :04:19.in Britain, breaststroke is huge. I feel a lot more practised at it and

:04:20. > :04:23.going to trials. I almost feel like I'm racing a world-class final just

:04:24. > :04:28.trying to qualify for the Olympics. You're a very experienced swimmer,

:04:29. > :04:33.you been on the big stage for years now, how important is that and how

:04:34. > :04:37.useful is that experience? Now I know what to expect. You go to the

:04:38. > :04:43.big stages but the Olympics seems to be that step above and it is a huge

:04:44. > :04:48.step for me. Making sure I step back from everything that's gone on and I

:04:49. > :04:52.focus on myself. There will be nerves, there will be excitement and

:04:53. > :04:56.it is a huge stage to be on. I want to try to control those nerves

:04:57. > :05:01.because I've had them in the past. It's my dream to get an Olympic

:05:02. > :05:05.medal and it always will be. STUDIO: We wish Andrew the very best. Let's

:05:06. > :05:09.go to the Olympic Park and let's talk to someone who knows this event

:05:10. > :05:13.very well, Michael Jamieson, silver-medallist in London. Good

:05:14. > :05:17.evening, what chance for Andrew this evening? I think he's got a great

:05:18. > :05:21.chance, he looked really powerful in the semis last night and one of the

:05:22. > :05:26.most important things for me was that on that last 50 when the rest

:05:27. > :05:33.of the field were beginning to show signs of fatigue and tying up,

:05:34. > :05:35.Andrew seemed to have another gear. The final will be a really close

:05:36. > :05:38.affair when it comes down to the last 50 tonight. I know Andrew with

:05:39. > :05:43.the work he has done with his coaches in Bath, he's going to have

:05:44. > :05:48.a lot of fitness and strength left. How much is about controlling the

:05:49. > :05:52.nerves? It is such a big night for him, what was it like when you

:05:53. > :05:57.stepped out in London? It's bristly nerve wracking but this is a

:05:58. > :06:02.combination of a four or eight-year journey -- obviously. Not just

:06:03. > :06:09.Andrew Barr all the athletes. But as we've seen, Andrew has bags of

:06:10. > :06:13.experience -- not just Andrew but all the athletes. He's got lots of

:06:14. > :06:18.experience, he's been in every international final since 2010,

:06:19. > :06:22.pretty impressive! He has bags of experience tonight, he knows what to

:06:23. > :06:25.expect and the experience, especially over the last 12 months,

:06:26. > :06:31.he's improved on his pace and his race strategy and that will help him

:06:32. > :06:35.tonight. What about last night in the pool, incredible, wasn't it? It

:06:36. > :06:39.was the best night of finals I've ever witnessed at an international,

:06:40. > :06:43.it was absolutely fascinating. How great to see Michael Phelps just

:06:44. > :06:48.holding on to the 200 butterfly title as well from Chad le Clos, a

:06:49. > :06:52.lot was made of the rivalry but what a race it was. Michael, I'm urging

:06:53. > :06:56.the nation to get the coffee is on every night to make sure they stay

:06:57. > :07:01.with us, you're going to do the same because Phelps against Lochte is

:07:02. > :07:05.worth staying up for? Absolutely, another really exciting jewel

:07:06. > :07:10.tonight. We've got another potential outside chance of a medal in the

:07:11. > :07:16.men's 100m freestyle. Duncan Scott, after an incredible day for him

:07:17. > :07:20.yesterday in the four x two ra freestyle, he broke the British

:07:21. > :07:26.record in the 100. A massive opportunity for a man who must be on

:07:27. > :07:30.cloud nine after last night. Thanks, Michael, enjoy the evening. Michael

:07:31. > :07:34.Jamieson at the Olympic Park. Let's switch sports and talk about hockey,

:07:35. > :07:38.the Great Britain women's team took on Argentina looking to maintain

:07:39. > :07:49.unbeaten run. This is what happened. Christer Callan is poised to have a

:07:50. > :07:55.pop at this one. Unsworth with the trap. It is a goal for Great

:07:56. > :08:03.Britain. It came off the stick of Helen Richardson Walsh. Cullen over

:08:04. > :08:07.to the right. Forward to Townsend. Townsend gets a nice little run of

:08:08. > :08:16.the ball, tries to drag it back to Cullen. That is close. Shot on goal,

:08:17. > :08:23.another one from Great Britain. She has scored twice now. White lifts it

:08:24. > :08:30.forward. A scramble in front of goal, can they find a way past the

:08:31. > :08:35.keeper? They have scored. I think that was Cullen with the final

:08:36. > :08:39.touch. Backhand cross, it should fall harmlessly enough. It did

:08:40. > :08:48.temporarily but Argentina with a chance and that's the first goal of

:08:49. > :08:52.the match for Argentina. Our grandstand where the commentary

:08:53. > :08:56.position is shaking with all the leaping around and chanting and

:08:57. > :09:01.footstomping from the Argentina supporters. Penalty corner to

:09:02. > :09:07.Argentina. This is to get within one. A good save from Hinch. To

:09:08. > :09:18.refit work from the Great Britain keeper but that's a goal. And they

:09:19. > :09:28.are within one. Scored. Flicks it back inside. Cullen. Goodness me,

:09:29. > :09:35.that is a penalty stroke. Alex macro Brawn absolutely flattened -- Alex

:09:36. > :09:42.Danson. She has missed. Good save. No hat-trick yet for Helen

:09:43. > :09:48.Richardson-Walsh. It can't come quick enough for written, this

:09:49. > :09:51.hooter, they have won it! They have defeated Argentina in the Olympic

:09:52. > :09:53.hockey tournament and what a thrilling encounter.

:09:54. > :09:59.STUDIO: Well done, terrific win yet again for Team GB.

:10:00. > :10:06.This is how Team GB luck in Group B. They are unbeaten and they face

:10:07. > :10:10.Japan on Thursday and the USA on Saturday and looking good for a

:10:11. > :10:14.place in the knockout stages. Now it is the turn of the men and tonight

:10:15. > :10:18.they take on old rivals Australia, let's talk to Simon Mason ready to

:10:19. > :10:21.go for this one. This is a different type of match, they beat Brazil

:10:22. > :10:22.yesterday evening really convincingly but Australia different

:10:23. > :10:35.class? . A different class. The world

:10:36. > :10:40.number ones in their faces. It is not quite the last chance. Those

:10:41. > :10:49.teams have to get something out of this tonight in order to progress to

:10:50. > :10:53.the quarter-finals. What is interesting is that for the first

:10:54. > :11:02.time since 1998 they have lost consecutive matches at the Olympics.

:11:03. > :11:07.They are struggling, definitely. These defeats are unheard of in

:11:08. > :11:12.their coaching staff will be looking at simple reasons for it. They got

:11:13. > :11:17.into the circle well enough but they are not getting the outcomes. There

:11:18. > :11:23.would be concerned about not converting set pieces. Essentially,

:11:24. > :11:30.this is a must win match for both. I feel so. Both teams of God are the

:11:31. > :11:36.games to go. But if either of them lose this admits it very difficult.

:11:37. > :11:45.Great Britain would have to then be Spain. Australia would have to beat

:11:46. > :11:52.Brazil and try to score enough to get through. Thank you, Simon. Let's

:11:53. > :11:56.have a look at the venues this evening. At the flick of a button

:11:57. > :12:01.and you can choose what you want to watch. This is the basketball, the

:12:02. > :12:08.dream team of the United States taking on Australia. This is on BBC

:12:09. > :12:26.for today. However, if you fancy some football, -- BBC Four. Brazil

:12:27. > :12:30.play later. A lot of pressure. It is the gold-medal envy men's 77 kg

:12:31. > :12:45.weightlifting, that is online. To help you make even more of your

:12:46. > :12:51.Olympic Games, we have ordered all covered right here on the BBC.

:12:52. > :12:59.Alongside coverage on BBC One, BBC Four, you can access 24 live sports

:13:00. > :13:02.on the BBC website or on the mobile, connected TVs and games consoles.

:13:03. > :13:06.The very best of these will be a available on the Red Button via

:13:07. > :13:19.satellite cable or your television receiver. If that is not enough,

:13:20. > :13:25.given download the BBC sport app so you can follow all your sport. Let

:13:26. > :13:30.us talk for all. The Brazil team is under a lot of pressure. They have

:13:31. > :13:43.not even scored a goal yet. There is a lot of pressure. We look at the

:13:44. > :13:48.country's football problems. Think Brazil, think football. At these

:13:49. > :14:03.Olympics, the hosts are close to reaching crisis point. The players

:14:04. > :14:06.were booed off. Historically, this is probably the absolute low point

:14:07. > :14:13.for Brazilian food all. The national team do not excite anything like the

:14:14. > :14:20.emotions they once did. They need to get their fans back on site. They

:14:21. > :14:28.have to win in terms of public expectations. They were favourites

:14:29. > :14:34.and they screwed up. Brazil are being humiliated, humbled and taken

:14:35. > :14:36.apart! That make the gizzard has left a significant stain on the

:14:37. > :14:45.national psyche, one that is proving difficult to remove. The 7-1 defeat

:14:46. > :14:49.to Germany, the ball is doing some soul-searching. In my humble

:14:50. > :14:54.opinion, we are still lost. An opinion poll carried out suggest

:14:55. > :14:58.that 70% of the Brazilian public have no interest in the Brazilian

:14:59. > :15:02.team. That is extraordinary. The idea of this games was to showcase

:15:03. > :15:07.Brazil on the rise. That country does not exist. The economic boom

:15:08. > :15:11.has given way to economic problems, political problems, all of this

:15:12. > :15:16.stacks and importance to the men's tournaments. They are carrying their

:15:17. > :15:20.expectations of a nation, they have the birth of history on their

:15:21. > :15:26.shoulders. Olympic golds is the only trophy Brazil have never won. The

:15:27. > :15:32.Olympics are a very particular tournament. Originally they were

:15:33. > :15:40.only open for amateurs. Also, there is a curse... Some sort of sporting

:15:41. > :15:46.curse. It is funny because Argentina has got it and it is about bragging

:15:47. > :15:49.rights, it is a big deal. With so much more than a gold medal at stake

:15:50. > :16:12.it adds a much more pressured to be posts. And one man in particular.

:16:13. > :16:23.The team needs Naymar. Can they cope with the pressure? You saw him

:16:24. > :16:28.looking shop on the beach and now he is looking sharp at the studio.

:16:29. > :16:33.Welcome, last time I saw you was at the World Cup final and Brazil were

:16:34. > :16:37.humiliated. He said that was in crisis. The key is later I got the

:16:38. > :16:43.feeling the country is still of love. That World Cup started with

:16:44. > :16:53.Jennifer Lopez and ended with you. It was worth waiting to use for. We

:16:54. > :16:56.are one third of the way through qualification for the next World Cup

:16:57. > :17:00.in Russia. As it stands, Brazil will not qualify. This Olympic tournament

:17:01. > :17:04.was supposed to be the moment when they got their fans back on side,

:17:05. > :17:11.where they had their moral boosting victory procession. Maybe they

:17:12. > :17:17.started to bounce back, inset of which, so far they are digging

:17:18. > :17:23.themselves deeper into the hole. A lot of Miss Johnson is, especially

:17:24. > :17:32.against Iraq. Is that confidence? Well, even Fiji has scored a goal.

:17:33. > :17:39.--A lot of missed opportunities. They are under pressure. This is a

:17:40. > :17:41.crisis of ideas in these games. They have not been able to reproduce what

:17:42. > :17:46.they have been working on with training on the field. This is a

:17:47. > :17:51.crisis of ideas. Resilient food or, it is very dependent on the counter

:17:52. > :18:01.attack. They move the ball so badly, there is no fluidity. So much of it

:18:02. > :18:05.becomes a straight line run in the direction of goal. It looks like

:18:06. > :18:15.zombie food will sometimes. You can compare to the Thriller video. I use

:18:16. > :18:19.a prized by the criticism? Legends of football have been in the press

:18:20. > :18:26.criticising Neymar and his captaincy. I am not surprised at

:18:27. > :18:44.all. Brazil can be Brett Hodge on its sporting representatives. Their

:18:45. > :18:54.judo champion, the first to that she made, Neymar has said the same

:18:55. > :19:01.thing. Neymar does not have any titles yet. He has played on World

:19:02. > :19:05.Cup, this is his second Olympics. No titles! He has scored a lot of goals

:19:06. > :19:10.for Brazil and most of them have come in friendlies. So far he has

:19:11. > :19:15.been poor in this tournament as a player but also as a leader, as a

:19:16. > :19:19.captain. This is a young side, it is a petulant side. They need him to be

:19:20. > :19:26.a calming influence. He has not been. The stakes are high. You talk

:19:27. > :19:32.about the pressure being high but I remember in 2013 they won the

:19:33. > :19:37.Federation cup. Was a real sense that this proved they were going

:19:38. > :19:48.somewhere. That set them up for the fall. The federation Cup, that gave

:19:49. > :19:51.Brazil a false sense of security. We saw during the World Cup, the

:19:52. > :19:57.confidence evaporated during the course of the tournament and they

:19:58. > :20:01.have not been back. Tim, many countries where they are in a

:20:02. > :20:04.crisis, they look around and say they need to spend a lot of money on

:20:05. > :20:11.a foreign coach. Would Brazil ever do that? Up until now I think that

:20:12. > :20:15.would be unthinkable. It is too important a position and to

:20:16. > :20:28.Rozelle's self-esteem. There is not a great tradition these days of

:20:29. > :20:37.purchase in domestic book all. -- Brazil's. Their by far the most

:20:38. > :20:40.qualified Brazilian coach. If he fails then they have nowhere else to

:20:41. > :20:45.go, they will have to look at another option. Any South American

:20:46. > :20:59.players we should be looking at this weekend? There is a young striker

:21:00. > :21:09.joining Manchester. A lot of money. He very raw but an exciting talent.

:21:10. > :21:15.Gabrielle Babos, he is also very exciting. He can play right foot, a

:21:16. > :21:22.good player for a counter attacking side like Lester, Italian clubs in a

:21:23. > :21:28.for him. But both of these men have got a lot of growing up to do. They

:21:29. > :21:31.very petulant. They give very much, Tim. We are focusing on the men's

:21:32. > :21:52.hockey. -- thank you very much. We have lost medals in the last four

:21:53. > :21:58.or five years of competition. We have been left agonisingly

:21:59. > :22:01.empty-handed. 2012 there were a lot of people towards the back end of

:22:02. > :22:07.their careers and 2012 was always going to be the best one. We have

:22:08. > :22:12.been full-time for three he is leading up to these Olympic Games,

:22:13. > :22:17.full-time preparing. It is made huge difference. A lot of players are

:22:18. > :22:27.fresh, they are gun, they have brought the energy and a real buzz

:22:28. > :22:34.around the place. -- young. There are some exciting new additions from

:22:35. > :22:39.2012. George is a real clown, I'm sure he wouldn't mind me saying

:22:40. > :22:43.that. He is great value. A psychologist got involved and asked

:22:44. > :22:48.what kind of person I am? One comes to this squad, when it comes to

:22:49. > :23:16.lively characters, I'm the only one. I have a big responsibility there.

:23:17. > :23:20.Adam Dixon. Ian Lewers is a fiery central defender. Sam Ward, he puts

:23:21. > :23:24.his head in stupid places and puts his body on the line. William Weir,

:23:25. > :23:31.he is a great player, a great laugh and he loves to serenade the ladies

:23:32. > :23:42.with his ukelele. I never heard this before!

:23:43. > :23:50.I think every team we play against knows that we can beat them and I

:23:51. > :23:55.think that's a big difference in how people want to place. We are

:23:56. > :24:00.certainly going for gold and we have people who can compete for the

:24:01. > :24:03.metal. My big hope is that the team gets the reward they deserve. --

:24:04. > :24:24.medal. They are focused in, aren't they? We

:24:25. > :24:29.are heading to the Olympic hockey Centre, home to Brazil's National

:24:30. > :24:33.hockey squads. Great Britain could move a step closer to qualification.

:24:34. > :24:36.Still want them two, after Spain after this but a win is more than

:24:37. > :24:42.welcome, especially against the Australians. The women did it. Can

:24:43. > :24:49.the men beat the Australians? It's good commentary team. Good evening

:24:50. > :24:53.everybody. It has been raining for much of the day but it is dry at the

:24:54. > :24:59.moment. The British team are out with the Red Shirts and white

:25:00. > :25:07.shorts. That Australian counterparts, coached by Graham

:25:08. > :25:20.Reid, frantic informed today. -- trying to keep warm. The night's

:25:21. > :25:25.umpires. They are from Poland and South Africa. The Australians have

:25:26. > :25:29.not scored in their last two matches. If they do not score

:25:30. > :25:33.tonight is and remains scoreless for three matches in a row, but will be

:25:34. > :25:38.the first time this has ever happened. There will be eager to

:25:39. > :25:49.avoid such a start and to get past George Pinner. Here we go. Great

:25:50. > :25:57.Britain and Australia, under way. Putting pressure on the Australian

:25:58. > :25:59.defence, right at the start. Australia in Greene and gold.

:26:00. > :26:12.Attacking the goal to the right. This will be an epic in counter,

:26:13. > :26:19.both teams have to match each other physically, they have to stake their

:26:20. > :26:20.claim territorially on the surface to stake their claim in this

:26:21. > :26:29.competition. The Australians switch it and go all

:26:30. > :26:35.the way back to Dawson. Swann. Nice turn. Through the legs. Good work

:26:36. > :26:40.from Beale. All the way up towards the circle. Then Great Britain

:26:41. > :26:46.escaped temporarily at least. Strong connection from Turner, Great

:26:47. > :26:49.Britain swarming him, a few players getting to the ball carrier when

:26:50. > :26:55.they can. They will have to step out and as deny players getting into the

:26:56. > :27:04.circle. Backhand shot. Somebody took that. The yellow headband being worn

:27:05. > :27:16.tonight by Jamie Dwyer. Wearing number one for Australia. Catlin.

:27:17. > :27:25.Tax it forward. Looking for Martin. Number 12 for Australia, Wetton.

:27:26. > :27:30.Gohdes looking to get around the outside, stretching Fox to the left,

:27:31. > :27:35.trying to create space, Australia will go back, recycling the play,

:27:36. > :27:40.looking for a better point of entry, making Great Britain do the legwork.

:27:41. > :27:47.For periods of 15 minutes tonight, a ten minute break at half-time.

:27:48. > :27:55.Ciriello, Swann. Swann just taking his time and sizing up his options.

:27:56. > :28:00.Burial ball. Well-controlled. The umpire saying that the players were

:28:01. > :28:04.all in the five yard zone. As it comes down it needs to come down to

:28:05. > :28:07.a player in space, you could argue the Australian forward was there

:28:08. > :28:14.first, but because the Great Britain players were within five metres they

:28:15. > :28:17.are always going to get a whistle. Jackson, turns, maintains

:28:18. > :28:31.possession. Now he looks up and thinks about what he needs to do.

:28:32. > :28:40.Goes all the way back. On the left, Hoare for Great Britain. Back to

:28:41. > :28:44.Fox. He tries to cross it, does so but he miscues. One of those moments

:28:45. > :28:51.of communication lacking. Hoare had led so high, if Fox had knocked it

:28:52. > :28:56.further Hoare had his feet ready, you would say the open hit across

:28:57. > :29:05.the circle would have been easier than the attempted backhand.

:29:06. > :29:12.Orchard. Fires it forward. That is a nice little turn. Dangerous times

:29:13. > :29:16.for Great Britain. Now they can just clear their lines and Dan Fox comes

:29:17. > :29:24.away with it but too much, there's a man down in the Great Britain circle

:29:25. > :29:30.in some sort of trouble. Hoare is down, took a hit, might have twisted

:29:31. > :29:34.his knee. Both of these sides have a reputation for playing physically

:29:35. > :29:45.within either D, Great Britain will protect their areas... Looks like it

:29:46. > :29:51.is ankle or need for Hoare. Govers whacked him on the knee, nothing

:29:52. > :29:57.intentional. Traces the aerial but it makes no contact with him.

:29:58. > :30:01.Australia in possession -- chases. The bowler hats are here. We've seen

:30:02. > :30:08.them in the Great Britain match against Argentina earlier today.

:30:09. > :30:16.Bowler hats, dark suits, Union Jack ties. Dawson. Nice turn. Glenn

:30:17. > :30:26.Turner. Turner all the way to the edge of the circle. Beale. Goes

:30:27. > :30:29.forward now. The allows the captain, nulls, to sweep that into the

:30:30. > :30:38.scoring zone. It will be taken again. Another free hit for

:30:39. > :30:41.Australia. Simon Orchard. Very physical encounter in the early

:30:42. > :30:48.stages and we would expect that throughout the hour of this match.

:30:49. > :30:53.Australia started in the World Cup in 2014 with a number of coaches

:30:54. > :30:58.calling it simple straight line play, let A to B, most people would

:30:59. > :31:03.avoid the physical contact and go around the outside, but the

:31:04. > :31:07.Australians dominated against the Dutch by running straight lines,

:31:08. > :31:13.create physical contact and dictate how you're going to go and what

:31:14. > :31:20.pace. 17 for Australia, Zalewski, fires it forward, nice stick work.

:31:21. > :31:21.Two Great Britain players back to Sandwich the Australian attacker and

:31:22. > :31:40.shut things down. Dawson. Holds things up. Stick in

:31:41. > :31:44.the way from Barry Middleton. As Govers try to hit off is back foot,

:31:45. > :31:49.what Dawson should have done in the first place... When players go to

:31:50. > :31:56.this slap pass, it takes a fraction longer and allows the defender to

:31:57. > :31:57.get out. Into the circle, nudged forward, taken by Catlin but no

:31:58. > :32:14.damage done. Long pass from Lewers but nobody on

:32:15. > :32:18.the end of it. Simon Mantell wearing number eight, brought into the side

:32:19. > :32:27.as a late replacement for the injured Alistair Brogdon.

:32:28. > :32:40.Ockenden with a nice little turn and go. Zalewski. Orchard. Orchard

:32:41. > :32:47.stopped by Gleghorn. Winning his 100 combined cap tonight, Gleghorn.

:32:48. > :32:51.Gleghorn knows where Orchard wants to go, tapped it into the turf to

:32:52. > :32:56.get a bit of elevation over the flat stick. Orchard knew he had to deny

:32:57. > :33:02.the outside line so kept his feet in the way. This is dangerous. Backhand

:33:03. > :33:14.attempted shot. A swing and a mess. Now Great Britain can clear. Martin,

:33:15. > :33:18.doing nicely. First bit of skill from Ciriello was beautiful to tuck

:33:19. > :33:23.it in midfield on the adverse. We will see if Great Britain can get

:33:24. > :33:26.their confidence up, seeing them playing the short interchanged

:33:27. > :33:31.passes we have seen from Australia so far, Australia have done a high

:33:32. > :33:36.press when Britain have it at the back and they resist going long. A

:33:37. > :33:49.Crow one has lost it here, pounced on by Zalewski. Aerial ball. --

:33:50. > :33:53.Lewers. Taken nicely by Gleghorne. Mantell decides to run into space to

:33:54. > :33:59.try to open up something in the centre. Ian Sloan is tackled and now

:34:00. > :34:09.Australia come forward at pace. Govers. Five for Australia, the

:34:10. > :34:21.dangerous Ciriello. Now the backhand and saved! Solid first half from

:34:22. > :34:28.dinner. Unfortunately his brother wasn't able to get fit for the

:34:29. > :34:39.competition. Govers, an excellent player. Really good on the top of

:34:40. > :34:44.the circle. Kavanagh. Denied by Gleghorne. Over the top. What a good

:34:45. > :34:50.first touch. What a take from Wetton. Read the ball initially,

:34:51. > :34:58.wide to draw the defender out and cut into the space behind. Jackson

:34:59. > :35:08.waiting to take it in. Let's have another look at this last Australia

:35:09. > :35:13.attack and the save from Pinner. If you launch that and get it above

:35:14. > :35:19.kicker height, Pinner doing well to drive the whole of the body forward

:35:20. > :35:33.to get the leg guard onto it. Swan on the left for Australia, all the

:35:34. > :35:37.way back to Deavin. Sloan hoping to burst away down the left but it will

:35:38. > :35:50.come back to number nine, Harry Martin. A really pacey start to this

:35:51. > :35:53.match. A lot to appreciate. The pattern of possession will be

:35:54. > :35:57.nothing Great Britain weren't expecting. The times they've done

:35:58. > :36:01.well as Great Britain or England, because lots of these players have

:36:02. > :36:09.come from England, it's been the same. Bursting down the centre.

:36:10. > :36:15.Young trying to force his way through. Australia get the free hit.

:36:16. > :36:21.Hello? Taken away by Mantell. A little reflex reaction. Now, Great

:36:22. > :36:27.Britain with one in the circle. Two on the outskirts but it is behind.

:36:28. > :36:31.That will be an issue for Great Britain because Australia forced

:36:32. > :36:35.them back and caused them to hold the ball deep and pressed. When

:36:36. > :36:39.Great Britain get the numbers forward it is difficult because

:36:40. > :36:45.there is a small degree of fatigue preventing the support running. Ian

:36:46. > :36:54.Sloan, 31 for Great Britain, right at the back.

:36:55. > :37:08.Lewers. Martin. 14 for Great Britain is Mark Gleghorn. It has come to

:37:09. > :37:12.Jamie Dwyer. A card coming out of the pocket of the referee, it is

:37:13. > :37:17.green, it has been shown to Mark Gleghorn, he is off the field for

:37:18. > :37:24.two minutes. Numerical advantage for a couple of minutes for the men in

:37:25. > :37:28.green and gold. Good touch from Middleton, the ball was in the air,

:37:29. > :37:36.instinctive block to pick the ball out.

:37:37. > :37:43.Gleghorne sitting it out for a moment. Swann in a dangerous

:37:44. > :37:53.position hoping to get a turn. Great Britain find Middleton, the captain.

:37:54. > :37:57.Martin. 2-balls on the pitch away to the left of our commentary position,

:37:58. > :38:03.happily watching the play next to us and away from us at Lynn was licking

:38:04. > :38:18.it down the left wing. Just over three minutes of the first period --

:38:19. > :38:25.Catlin was running. Jackson traps and turns but watches and beaten...

:38:26. > :38:30.Govers picked that off Jackson wonderfully, a long reaching tackle.

:38:31. > :38:34.So difficult to take that cleanly because you are extending and your

:38:35. > :38:39.body position is low, if you miss it you will clatter the stick and risk

:38:40. > :38:44.a card. Australia have lots of time and space here, can they get space

:38:45. > :38:48.into the circle? They are waiting, lining up, shuffling towards

:38:49. > :38:54.Pinner's goal and Great Britain clearing. They've gone to video

:38:55. > :38:59.referrals, an immediate call from Blake Govers. The corner has been

:39:00. > :39:02.given by the disengaged umpire. Martin Brocklehurst spoken to John

:39:03. > :39:08.Ryan to say it's a corner straightaway so not going upstairs.

:39:09. > :39:14.Penalty corner awarded, was there a Great Britain foot on the ball? Back

:39:15. > :39:20.stick from Dan Fox. Govers knocks it underneath Dan Fox's stick, that is

:39:21. > :39:24.what gives away the corner. Australia are always dangerous, now

:39:25. > :39:28.they have an opportunity to get on the scoresheet for the first time in

:39:29. > :39:35.a couple of matches. The injection will come from Beale. You've got to

:39:36. > :39:43.favour Govers on the left but Dawson on the right, very useful at this as

:39:44. > :39:51.well. Govers or Dawson, here's the Govers. Wide. Charge down from Fox,

:39:52. > :39:55.brave to run at Govers that hard, getting in his face, the stick in

:39:56. > :40:08.front of his shin to get the impact on that carbon blade. Here we see

:40:09. > :40:14.the run. Fox straight at Govers, outside the right foot, taken so

:40:15. > :40:16.well as he drives at it, got to be brave, first-class cricketer, Dan

:40:17. > :41:00.Fox, good eye for a ball. a good pace. Nick Catlin, he is

:41:01. > :41:06.dangerous in this sort of situation. And the British attack ends there.

:41:07. > :41:10.My only criticism of Catlin is that it turns well but he knows there are

:41:11. > :41:18.players around them. As soon as there recognition there has to be a

:41:19. > :41:23.option. A chance at the goal. Desperate stuff but good defensive

:41:24. > :41:37.work in the end by Great Britain. Good defence and good umpiring as

:41:38. > :41:44.well. Let it go. Glenn Turner is threatening. Now to the edge of the

:41:45. > :41:47.circle, a wide shot. 20 seconds of the quarter remaining, that might

:41:48. > :41:53.just be the last meaningful move. That was the foot that we saw at the

:41:54. > :41:58.top of the circle, scrambling as the players go to the back, blasting

:41:59. > :42:07.wide. It is important for Great Britain to keep the scores of- zero.

:42:08. > :42:28.The- siren sounds. Let us take a spin around some of

:42:29. > :42:31.the venues you what is happening. Let us take you to the fencing

:42:32. > :42:48.because we have had a result in bat. This is the winner. Deriglasova, the

:42:49. > :42:51.winner from Russia, the medal goes to Russia in the fencing. There is

:42:52. > :42:56.plenty for you tonight as well. If you want to watch other sports, if

:42:57. > :43:02.you fancy a little bit of basketball. These 20 seconds to go

:43:03. > :43:08.in the match between the Americans and the Australians. It is quite

:43:09. > :43:11.tight. Can they turn it around? Six points as the difference, 20 seconds

:43:12. > :43:18.to go. It could be a dramatic finish. Elsewhere, there is a lot of

:43:19. > :43:26.football. The men's tournament is bring to a conclusion. A fascinating

:43:27. > :43:33.match. There is 1.5 minutes left, that is available on the Red Button.

:43:34. > :43:36.Then I decided to give very quickly to the weightlifting because some

:43:37. > :43:41.top-class weightlifting tonight in the men's 77 kg competition. The

:43:42. > :43:48.gold medal was hoping to go to China.

:43:49. > :44:01.It could be very lively in the water bulletin. Way she playing, available

:44:02. > :44:09.online. -- water polo. And let us take you back to the hockey.

:44:10. > :44:14.The second quarter is about to get under way. Previous results in the

:44:15. > :44:22.tournament for Great Britain, they lost 4-1 with Goldtron and then beat

:44:23. > :44:25.Brazil 9-1. Australian red New Zealand 2-1 and then suffered a

:44:26. > :44:30.couple of losses, beaten by both Spain and Belgium. -- eat New

:44:31. > :44:54.Zealand. -- beat. Great Britain should tidy this up,

:44:55. > :44:57.not as they might have hoped. That needed better communication with

:44:58. > :45:07.Middleton. He could have let it run and Great Britain would have come

:45:08. > :45:13.away with the ball. A bit of pace on the left now, towards the circle.

:45:14. > :45:21.Benedict is it away, kicks it clear, back they come again. -- Pinner.

:45:22. > :45:27.Glenn Turner, leading in the circle in front of Pinner's goal. He can

:45:28. > :45:35.strip back in but it was real purpose. He kicks it clear and then

:45:36. > :45:39.seconds later it is back in front of the goalmouth. Great Britain have

:45:40. > :45:46.not spent very much time in Australia's goal half. It went

:45:47. > :45:51.straight to Middleton but it found his foot. What jobs for Great

:45:52. > :46:05.Britain. A man with a brilliant touch. A lovely turn from Glenn

:46:06. > :46:13.Turner, please get off the deck. Great Britain's ball. Then is taking

:46:14. > :46:20.responsibility for the area, he turned you to plead. Lewers unable

:46:21. > :46:25.to get the stick in. Meanwhile, at the other end, Middleton has got a

:46:26. > :46:37.lot of time and space. He is looking for Dan Fox. Glenn Turner, number

:46:38. > :46:43.four for Australia. It feels a little bit at the moment with Glenn

:46:44. > :46:54.Turner, a couple of words with Michael Hoare. He is letting it go,

:46:55. > :47:05.leading into the space behind. Orchard, looking for Dwyer but no

:47:06. > :47:09.luck. That is probably as a map of how Australia has performed this

:47:10. > :47:12.whole tournament. It is not that they have not created chances, they

:47:13. > :47:28.just can't find the final touch that is usually a great characteristic of

:47:29. > :47:44.theirs in front of the goalmouth. Lewers and Fox copperhead. -- up

:47:45. > :47:50.ahead. Henry Weir is the -- topped inside. Tried to force his way out

:47:51. > :47:55.of the dead end. The next move goes aerial and back they go, it might

:47:56. > :48:05.come all the way across the Lewers, yes it does eventually.

:48:06. > :48:14.Fox got a top edge move, needs to make sure he takes a fraction of a

:48:15. > :48:25.step on weight or another rather than going for the static defender.

:48:26. > :48:30.Jackson takes the free hit quickly to the baseline! A penalty corner

:48:31. > :48:36.for Great Britain. I thought Jackson had been caught, giving away the

:48:37. > :48:42.free hit. Immediately, it is a great skill to go down the right-hand side

:48:43. > :48:46.and then be reaching tackle, that takes Jackson to ground and gives

:48:47. > :48:55.Great Britain their first opportunity at goal. Now the

:48:56. > :49:16.discussions. The analysts trots over the -- Lewers trots over. Harry

:49:17. > :49:22.Martin has gone for the tip, Great Britain trying to run a routine.

:49:23. > :49:28.Jackson is down in front of the goal keeper. They are still on their

:49:29. > :49:37.feet. The action move straight on to the other end of the field while

:49:38. > :49:43.Australia in Britain's circle. My God, dancing on the baseline to

:49:44. > :49:49.avoid Jamie Dwyer's attempts to put the ball onto his shoes. He is an

:49:50. > :50:14.absolute twinkle toes. Swan finds Dawson, Dawson takes it

:50:15. > :50:22.and dances inside. Down the centre now with Simon Orchard. Great

:50:23. > :50:31.written and are able to control the Australians at the moment. -- Great

:50:32. > :50:35.Britain are able. The coach would be concerned if Jamie Dwyer is trying

:50:36. > :50:39.to get out to be outside to receive it. He needs to be in their first,

:50:40. > :50:46.leading receipt. A good pace by Australia but it is snuffed out.

:50:47. > :50:55.Middleton, he might wed for some Port or will he go forward? --

:50:56. > :51:04.support. And then Australia were rescued by Matthew Swann. Out of

:51:05. > :51:08.danger, it is all happening here. Matthew Swann is hobbling in shock.

:51:09. > :51:15.He knew he was injured but he still had the wherewithal to make the

:51:16. > :51:26.vital intersection at the age of the Australian circle. He limps off. See

:51:27. > :51:31.here, Jackson jumps down. He knows he is hurt that he is still able to

:51:32. > :51:37.make the play, he is grasping his left ankle. It may be that we see no

:51:38. > :51:45.more of Matthew Swann in this match. Australia would be hopeful that he

:51:46. > :51:49.will recover. Lewers very, very nearly being turned over. That is

:51:50. > :51:56.what Great Britain do not want to do, if they do get swarmed by the

:51:57. > :52:26.Green and gold shirts, there is no cover defence. Eight minutes until

:52:27. > :52:36.half-time. 0-0. Ockenden trying to come away from the ball but there is

:52:37. > :52:41.resolute defence. Sloan is just tracking Ockenden around the 25

:52:42. > :52:47.defensively, tried to keep him right in the pocket of his shorts. Dawson

:52:48. > :52:56.will find this difficult to control. He did well to start with. It will

:52:57. > :53:02.be a free hit for Great Britain. Bobby Crutchley looking on, the

:53:03. > :53:18.Great Britain coach. Nick Catlin nudges it forward. Glenhorne is

:53:19. > :53:26.waiting in the circle. Catlin tries to find a different route to the

:53:27. > :53:33.circle and David Haymes will have to put the ball away because it is an

:53:34. > :53:43.Australian free hit. A full hands tackling position from Australia

:53:44. > :53:52.made an easy intercept. Simon Mantell, good control from Mantell.

:53:53. > :53:57.Great Britain come again. Catlin tries to fire it into the circle. A

:53:58. > :54:05.little nudge from Simon Mantell, he is on the debt, he appeals for a

:54:06. > :54:16.penalty but no response from the umpire. Australia is dancing on one

:54:17. > :54:33.foot. Great control by Middleton, he weaves his way around the Australian

:54:34. > :54:39.defender. Adam Dixon... Australia is quick to pounce on any little

:54:40. > :55:02.mistake. This is promising, though. Greg on! He gets the penalty corner.

:55:03. > :55:06.-- the least dangerous point to the circle. Ashley Jackson is off the

:55:07. > :55:13.field at the moment. We will see who is lining up to have a go at this

:55:14. > :55:15.one. When one has earned the penalty corner, potentially to have a

:55:16. > :55:28.stroke, as is Simon Mantell. Catlin with the injection. Australia

:55:29. > :55:31.have broken early. They are going to go down a man for defensive line

:55:32. > :55:36.breaks before the ball has injected, then the player has to go back to

:55:37. > :55:40.the halfway line. Australia will be forced to defend this with three

:55:41. > :55:44.outfield players plus the keeper, Great Britain go back to the Hubble

:55:45. > :55:51.because they could have a second option routine for when the defence

:55:52. > :56:03.is a man down. Gleghorne and Mantell have switched positions. One fewer

:56:04. > :56:09.defender for Australia. Catlin index. Little flick... Mantell!

:56:10. > :56:16.Unlucky -- injects. They have tried to expose the space by going to

:56:17. > :56:20.Gleghorne. They have tried to eliminate the number or runner but

:56:21. > :56:25.Australia have still gone bold with running then. You have to feel the

:56:26. > :56:36.injector or the head side tip in is a good option. Kavanagh. Ciriello.

:56:37. > :56:45.13 for Australia. Govers. Ciriello again.

:56:46. > :56:54.This is where it is so difficult for Great Britain to get the ball away.

:56:55. > :57:00.Orchard. Bruising his way to the circle. Great Britain have

:57:01. > :57:07.possession. A chance to refuel. Aerial from Dan Fox. Didn't reach

:57:08. > :57:11.its target. The problem is these athletes are so strong, you throw a

:57:12. > :57:16.ball away 50 or 60 yards but it comes back at you within 15 seconds,

:57:17. > :57:21.you are almost regrouping as a defence before you track that ball

:57:22. > :57:28.overhead. It has fallen nicely for Australia until Fox stepped in to

:57:29. > :57:34.reset. Didn't last long and Australia, once more. Orchard. Holds

:57:35. > :57:41.it on. Thinks about going right and then goes left.

:57:42. > :57:50.Swann is back on the field. Took a twist to the ankle but he seems to

:57:51. > :57:54.have recovered, much to Australia's relief and playing a full part.

:57:55. > :58:05.Dixon doing well. Adam Dixon, number 16. Martin. Middleton. 13 for Great

:05:53. > :05:55.form? He's always impressive, everytime you see him in the water,

:05:56. > :05:59.you see how it should be done but it's nice to see his human side and

:06:40. > :06:48.then he has the 200 meet a butterfly. He could come away with

:06:54. > :06:57.100 metre butterfly will be very tough as it always is. We saw the

:06:58. > :07:00.big showdown in the 200 last night. I'm sure it will be tough in

:07:01. > :07:04.different ways and it will be interesting to see how he handles it

:07:24. > :07:29.first and I'd Andrew Willis in the 200m breastroke final, how do you

:07:35. > :07:39.there is 0.5 of a second between first and eight so it will be really

:07:40. > :07:43.tight. He is like in the water. In swimming you have no resistance in

:07:44. > :07:47.the air. The higher you are the better it is. He is bloating well,

:07:48. > :07:53.his stroke length is great, the timing is on, when your timing is

:07:54. > :07:56.off you go slower and he is doing good times. He looks great and looks

:07:57. > :08:01.in control, looks like he has a bit more left. Tactically he has been

:08:02. > :08:05.swimming so cleverly and the last 15 or 25 metres he has switched it on

:08:06. > :08:10.and made sure he has got to the wall first. I believe if he is with them

:08:11. > :08:13.and in a line with them he will get his hand on the wall first because

:08:14. > :08:16.we have seen him swim like that through the heats and the semis and

:08:17. > :08:21.he has looked really strong. I really hope he swims a bit like that

:08:22. > :08:25.because he freaks us out when he does that, we were having heart

:08:39. > :08:41.will be such eight of contest because everybody in that race has

:08:42. > :08:45.done similar times this year -- a tough contest. Andrew Willis has

:09:03. > :09:07.will be his inspiration that he needs to say he is not standing on

:09:08. > :09:10.the podium. Come on, Andrew Willis, ten members of his family here

:09:11. > :09:16.tonight and three honorary members, we joined in. We have also got

:09:17. > :09:22.Duncan Scott going in the 100m freestyle final. An outside lane,

:09:23. > :09:26.tough for him? He was in the 4x400 metre relay last night, he has stood

:09:27. > :09:31.on the podium and got the silver last night, he will allow that to

:09:32. > :09:35.carry him. There's the adrenaline, the buzz, the note you are on form

:09:36. > :09:42.feeling, when you're on as an athlete, as Mark said... He will be

:09:43. > :09:46.buzzing of last night. This will be a tough event. This is a split

:09:47. > :09:53.second and splash and -- and so many waves in the pool. He had a

:11:58. > :12:06.towards the left now. Everyone is goalless. There is a lot to enjoy.

:12:07. > :12:15.There were no goals in the first period. I have been impressed with

:12:16. > :12:20.the Great Britain tactics. You have got to save the tactics to defend

:12:21. > :12:25.have worked really well but the question is, can Great Britain

:12:26. > :12:38.maintained their physicality? Australia had the ball so much. Swan

:12:39. > :12:46.has got the ball now, trying to find a Great Britain fought. Smart

:12:47. > :12:50.defending. You can tell what an opponent is trying to do sometimes

:13:41. > :13:44.it left to Zalewski, who goes to Swan who picked up an injury in the

:13:45. > :13:55.first half but looks quite lively at the moment. Australia are pressing

:13:56. > :14:00.once more. The danger now, inside the 23 metre a row so you can drag a

:14:01. > :14:10.straight ten, you have got to disguise it. Middleton has done

:14:11. > :14:19.well, Middleton has conned and in front of him! -- Condon! No, he

:14:20. > :14:27.can't, Australia getting enough people back. Bobby Crutchley looking

:14:28. > :14:36.frustrated but it looked like Condon gave a show into the Australian

:15:26. > :15:41.to have a crack at this one. -- Govers. He drives it in, he really

:15:42. > :15:54.does touch and deflect it from the ball. Australia are still in the

:15:55. > :15:59.attack. For Great Britain, this is what the hours and hours of physical

:16:00. > :16:04.training enables you to do, just continue to run and get into the

:16:05. > :16:07.right place. It is a brutal pace, I would hate to think how far these

:16:08. > :16:14.guys are running throughout the course of this match. The balance

:16:15. > :16:18.and the poise is exceptional. C a replay of that corner, getting a

:16:19. > :16:26.touch inside the circle from Pinners. Ashley Jackson picks it up,

:16:27. > :16:46.he goes one way and then the other. Catlin is in the circle. A good

:18:01. > :18:03.He goes under the left hand, for once not being flat, he has been

:18:12. > :18:37.was the one who put his foot on the ball to force the penalty corner.

:18:38. > :18:46.Australia's penalty corner, good work from Pinner! Jackson on the

:18:55. > :19:07.Upto the top, a low block then sweeping clear, excellent teamwork.

:19:08. > :19:11.We see Jackson driving end, he finds the space to sweep but he hits his

:19:45. > :19:50.pushes it forward. -- Catlin. They are just backing away, he has a

:19:51. > :20:01.nibble, he is trying to put the stick in to Watson. Lewers is there

:21:31. > :21:34.from Weir but he is blocked, leaves it open for Martin and heads

:21:35. > :21:39.backwards again. Great Britain are building all the time to be for

:21:40. > :22:02.Russia's pace of the first off, the second half has started more

:22:08. > :22:16.around, he is a fantastic athlete. A shot on goal! Oh, a terrible shot.

:22:17. > :22:23.Oh, Glenn Turner, that is one of the worst international shots he has

:22:24. > :22:29.ever had. He over rotated. He has rotated his rest, it opens the blade

:22:30. > :22:42.of the stick up. He has absolutely sliced it. Great Britain zero,

:22:43. > :23:02.Australia zero, deep in the second half. We can hear from up here,

:23:03. > :23:06.Bobby Crutchley is shouting, get out of there! Australia are happy to

:23:07. > :23:10.mend forwards, they are always going man to man against the fullbacks to

:23:11. > :23:13.give them no options. Wanting Great Britain to lead higher up of the

:23:14. > :23:29.space to allow balls to lead through the mid- space. Martin down the

:23:30. > :23:36.centre. Australia are reading the Great Britain moves perfectly and

:23:37. > :23:47.they are there to intercept. A physical collision there in the

:23:48. > :23:51.centre of the field. Look at this, Hoare attacking, we have certainly

:23:52. > :23:59.seen cards given for that sort of tackle.

:24:00. > :24:19.Dawson, all the way back to Taberner. Behind from the captain,

:24:20. > :24:27.Mark Knowles. Applauding their teammates. They are able to lead the

:24:28. > :24:57.ball. The defence team have good communication. Ockenden. Just nudged

:24:58. > :25:01.forward the Australians are a little cautious at the moment to press

:25:02. > :25:08.forward but it will not be far away. Now they have got a bit of pace and

:25:09. > :25:18.space. Swan on the right, he is always dangerous. He has his back to

:25:19. > :25:22.the British defender. The way for a moment saw Naulls coming from the

:25:23. > :25:31.corner and was playing with him. It is not a big ask to go 50 yards over

:25:32. > :25:37.the top. Britain have chance at last to clear their lines and Martin is

:25:38. > :25:48.trading at pace. Can Catlin control it? It will be a British free hit.

:25:49. > :25:56.Making sure the inside line is blocked with the defeat.

:25:57. > :25:59.You have to block that line physically and not allow them sight

:26:00. > :26:12.of goal. Dan Fox at pace. Little nudge

:26:13. > :26:17.forward. Middleton's pass goes straight. Australia with accurate

:26:18. > :26:24.passing can break forward. Lots of time and space here for Gohdes.

:26:25. > :26:28.Gohdes finds the wire on the right, into the circle, held up. The King

:26:29. > :26:35.for a Great Britain foot but kept out of the way -- finds Dwyer. Hoare

:26:36. > :26:40.getting away with it in that left-hand corner. Wire stick

:26:41. > :26:45.checking the back of his stick, Fox did brilliantly to get his feet out

:26:46. > :26:49.of the way. Wonderful from Britain, playing it out rather than forcing

:26:50. > :26:56.it away. Middleton plunging down onto the turf and pushing that down

:26:57. > :27:01.effectively to Sam Ward. Ward has done well, backhand shot, came off

:27:02. > :27:05.the shoulder of the goalkeeper. The first action Charter has had during

:27:06. > :27:10.the course of this game. Seeing Sam Ward was only ever going to strike,

:27:11. > :27:19.it's what he does, got it on target and the goalkeeper in the right

:27:20. > :27:25.place. Ashley Jackson. 60 seconds left of the third-quarter. Jackson

:27:26. > :27:30.throws it forward. Didn't go very far. Australia can break. Cavern

:27:31. > :27:38.down the centre. Finds Dwyer on the right. He's got some pace about him,

:27:39. > :27:43.Dwyer with a little burst of acceleration. Australia's free hit,

:27:44. > :27:48.they still have time to do some damage here. A bit of a scramble in

:27:49. > :27:52.the circle. Great Britain get it clear but no, the whistle has gone

:27:53. > :27:59.and the penalty corner has been awarded with 17 seconds of the third

:28:00. > :28:08.quarter to play. Interchange weakened here with the umpire saying

:28:09. > :28:14.it was outside, not inside. The foot had taken place before Sam Ward gets

:28:15. > :28:20.nailed. We see Sam Ward's opportunity a moment earlier, pick,

:28:21. > :28:22.spin, backhand, knew where the goal was, Charter knew where his goal was

:28:23. > :28:40.and he got his arm in the way. So Govers, Knowles, Ciriello lined

:28:41. > :28:46.up. Defended well. But this time... It has ricocheted around the line.

:28:47. > :28:51.No goal given. I think they are going to take this to the video

:28:52. > :28:56.referral. I think this has gone in. The hooter has gone into end the

:28:57. > :29:05.third quarter. I think it hit the backboard and came out. It looked

:29:06. > :29:14.odd board in real-time. It's gone to video. I think time has passed. We

:29:15. > :29:19.will get a look at it because it may have crossed the line. Here when

:29:20. > :29:24.Govers hits it. Inside edge of the post and across again, then into the

:29:25. > :29:28.feet of the goalkeeper. What a let of four Great Britain. Pinner got

:29:29. > :29:36.enough on it to deflect it onto his post, it hasn't gone over the line

:29:37. > :29:47.-- what I let of four Great Britain. -- what a let off for Great Britain.

:29:48. > :29:50.At the end of the third-quarter it is 0-0.

:29:51. > :29:58.STUDIO: Let's be honest, that was a great save from Pinner but Australia

:29:59. > :29:59.so unlucky not to be one in front and of course Australia really need

:30:00. > :30:06.to win this match. They've lost their last two games.

:30:07. > :30:09.Both teams need to win it but Australia effectively need to win to

:30:10. > :30:13.stay in the competition. Let's go around the venues and show you

:30:14. > :30:16.what's been happening while we've been enjoying the hockey. In the

:30:17. > :30:23.fencing we showed you a short time ago that Russia's individual foil

:30:24. > :30:28.competitor beat the Francesco of Italy. Hungary's competitor

:30:29. > :30:33.successfully defended his men's individual sabre title beating homer

:30:34. > :30:38.of the US 15-8 in the final a short time ago. Home was hoping to become

:30:39. > :30:42.the first American to win Olympic fencing gold -- home. But the

:30:43. > :30:50.26-year-old from Budapest was too strong.

:30:51. > :31:04.Live pictures from what is happening on the table tennis, this is on BBC

:31:05. > :31:05.Four. It is now back to the Olympic hockey centre and go back to Matt

:31:06. > :31:09.and Simon. COMMENTATOR: The final 15 minutes

:31:10. > :31:18.under way. Scoreless. Just to remind you, Australia have

:31:19. > :31:25.never not scored in three successive matches. They have failed to find

:31:26. > :31:30.the target in the last two and so far they have failed to score in

:31:31. > :31:36.this pool match with Great Britain. Ashley Jackson picked up a card for

:31:37. > :31:39.not being five. That's harsh because the free hit was pretty

:31:40. > :31:43.indeterminable where it was given from. Australia could have stopped

:31:44. > :31:48.the ball at any point during that passage of play. Great Britain will

:31:49. > :32:00.play the next two minutes without Jackson and down to ten men. Condon.

:32:01. > :32:07.Weir. Weir tries to hold it up and go over the stick of the Australian

:32:08. > :32:19.number nine, Knowles. Weir again. Goes aerial. Dixon. Good attempt on

:32:20. > :32:22.the dive and slide from Sam Ward but he couldn't control it and Swann

:32:23. > :32:33.comes away with it for Australia. Down the right flank. Dwyer is in

:32:34. > :32:40.the circle. Terrific work from Daniel Beale. He has wriggled his

:32:41. > :32:44.way into an attacking position. Twisting and turning in the face of

:32:45. > :32:48.two Great Britain defenders, even with Ashley Jackson on the bench,

:32:49. > :32:55.Great Britain trying to get two men to the ball not eliminated to

:32:56. > :32:59.one-on-ones. Australia try to go laterally to try and get Britain

:33:00. > :33:04.tired and cover that space. Dangerous ball Great Britain as Ames

:33:05. > :33:08.barges his way out of trouble leaving an Australian player bruised

:33:09. > :33:13.and battered behind him. This is worrying. Flicked over the top and

:33:14. > :33:19.out of play. I thought he had gone down to his right to early, Pinner.

:33:20. > :33:24.He's a big man. He had to cover that all. The creativity of Australia,

:33:25. > :33:29.trying to flick it up and log it into the goal. -- that ball.

:33:30. > :33:45.Knowles. Michael Hoare did well. Keeping it

:33:46. > :33:54.under control and out of the air. Here they come, the men in green and

:33:55. > :34:09.gold rampaging forward. Ciriello. Knowles. Ciriello again. Trap and

:34:10. > :34:14.turn. A flick backwards. Daniel Beale penalised for stick

:34:15. > :34:19.instruction as Condon led through the circle with Lewers imposition.

:34:20. > :34:23.The confirmation of a five-minute yellow card. It feels harsh given

:34:24. > :34:30.the state of the game. I'm not sure we've had any cards during the

:34:31. > :34:34.course of this match. Yeah, Great Britain under severe pressure with

:34:35. > :34:39.Jackson out and they are a man down for the five-minute period. We

:34:40. > :34:42.thought it was a two-minute. It seemed in no worse than a two-minute

:34:43. > :34:48.offence but Jackson stays seated at the moment. That enables Australia

:34:49. > :34:54.to do... They will have a tactic for this, as most teams do, at this

:34:55. > :35:00.phase of the game without supremacy they will double team and swarm

:35:01. > :35:03.play, they will try to wait until it is between British players, anything

:35:04. > :35:21.indecisive and they will pounce on it. Orchard.

:35:22. > :35:30.Australia are pressing once more. A good little take and turn and

:35:31. > :35:37.Australia get the goal! Zalewski claims it for Australia. It feels

:35:38. > :35:44.like sooner or later the pressure was going to tell. It came down the

:35:45. > :35:48.baseline. Another reverse hit stick. Watch the collection on the Ra

:35:49. > :35:58.burst, the turn as he goes in from Beale, knocks it back. Nothing

:35:59. > :36:07.Pinner can do. -- reverse. Under his arm, dink inside the near post first

:36:08. > :36:13.time from Zalewski. Ten and a half minutes of the match to play.

:36:14. > :36:22.Salutes keep's goal the difference between the two sides. -- Zalewski.

:36:23. > :36:27.Australia now will go for the jugular. They will absolutely wrap

:36:28. > :36:32.this up, they want a goal to follow a goal, either when they concede or

:36:33. > :36:36.score, they have the philosophy of stepping it up another gear and go

:36:37. > :36:45.harder. Great Britain still a man down. Ames conceding the foul.

:36:46. > :36:53.Australia forward in numbers. Light relief as Great Britain get

:36:54. > :37:01.possession and chance to regroup. Harry Martin. He's got the run of

:37:02. > :37:07.the ball so far but his luck has run out now. Desperate for the umpire to

:37:08. > :37:10.blow his whistle. Both of those balls being forced into space to

:37:11. > :37:14.chase, getting slower and slower as the ball went forward but not

:37:15. > :37:18.clipping and Australian Football unfortunately. -- and Australian

:37:19. > :37:34.Football. High and dangerous. Beale. The way

:37:35. > :37:38.he is reading the ball forwards, he could literally touch it and dived

:37:39. > :37:43.to get across, unfortunately underneath it as Lewers came in on

:37:44. > :37:53.the tackle. Charging towards the circle, Turner. Here they come

:37:54. > :38:00.again. Great Britain unable to get much past halfway.

:38:01. > :38:10.Catlin has done well. Mantell forward, heading towards the circle.

:38:11. > :38:16.Never got any service, though. Here they come one more time, Australia.

:38:17. > :38:21.It's been relentless since they scored. It feels like its turn into

:38:22. > :38:27.a one-on-one competition, the whole game has opened up as Great Britain

:38:28. > :38:34.have to go for this. -- it's turned into. Great Britain back to full

:38:35. > :38:36.strength, 11 against 11 as Jackson has retaken his place on the field.

:38:37. > :38:52.He has found Catlin. Can Great Britain get something

:38:53. > :38:57.decent in towards the circle, Ashley Jackson with the reverse pass into

:38:58. > :39:04.the circle from Jackson. Australia escape and Turner is away... It is a

:39:05. > :39:12.foot race between Turner and Michael Hoare. Michael Hoare, yellow card,

:39:13. > :39:15.penalised for deliberately blocking Glenn Turner. Given the way players

:39:16. > :39:20.have blocked running lines during this game I've got to say that's

:39:21. > :39:26.harsh. Both players turned at 180 degrees. Michael Hoare is absolutely

:39:27. > :39:31.going to protect that running line. Great Britain have only just come

:39:32. > :39:34.back to full strength and now Michael Hoare is suspended for

:39:35. > :39:40.another five minutes and we only have 7.5 minutes left in this match.

:39:41. > :39:45.Right now Great Britain is chances of qualifying for the knockout

:39:46. > :39:51.stages are hanging by a thread -- Great Britain's. It's not good for

:39:52. > :39:56.them however with that big win against Brazil and the draw against

:39:57. > :39:59.New Zealand. There is still the game against Bain where they could go

:40:00. > :40:04.through and give them seven and that could give them every chance. --

:40:05. > :40:10.against Spain. It could go to goal difference but it is still in their

:40:11. > :40:15.hands. Spain always a tough proposition for Britain. They are in

:40:16. > :40:24.good form. They play Belgium tomorrow. Not over here as Catlin

:40:25. > :40:30.gets into the circle. An incredible bit of poise and balance and agility

:40:31. > :42:16.from Dawson. Turn and jab 1-handed. Clean take of the ball.

:42:17. > :42:52.his mate. To be fair, he did the right thing to make absolutely sure.

:42:53. > :43:01.The pool could well go down to goal difference. New Zealand on the other

:43:02. > :43:06.pitch have gone down. There is going to be some ramifications on the

:43:07. > :43:10.final day. New Zealand want to minimise this loss. You would

:43:11. > :43:19.suggest it is too late for them to sneak a consolation, close the gap,

:43:20. > :43:22.keep this to two. Maybe just grab a point with four minutes to play,

:43:23. > :43:27.that would need the best they could hope for. The Australians are still

:43:28. > :43:36.raging forward, their back defending well, Middleton controlling it, now

:43:37. > :43:45.trotting forward. The coach is looking rather concerned. Jackson is

:43:46. > :43:51.not allowed to get any forward momentum. Unfortunately or a player

:43:52. > :43:55.of Jackson's quality, he has had a relatively quiet night. These things

:43:56. > :44:07.happen when you are trying to eliminate the mid field. Great

:44:08. > :44:10.Britain get the hit. There are chances here, they need to be

:44:11. > :44:18.positive, move forward. Middleton is asking for it, he is in a central

:44:19. > :44:25.position. Across the backhand, it flashes in front of him. Fox had

:44:26. > :44:29.onto the back, there was no forehand opportunity to get into the back

:44:30. > :44:32.circle. The danger is that you cut under the halfway point of the ball

:44:33. > :44:51.and that is going to lift it. I consider that to be dangerous.

:44:52. > :45:00.Ciriello back to Knowles. It is shop work, he has scored one, he is

:45:01. > :45:12.looking to set up another. It was Lewers who was turned over at rate

:45:13. > :45:19.defender. -- sharp work. Middleton for Great Britain, a burst of

:45:20. > :45:36.exhilaration, he finds Catlin just inside. He finds Swann at the edge.

:45:37. > :45:46.Great Britain have the penalty corner! That was considered a

:45:47. > :45:53.deliberate foul. A lovely little pot ball from Catlin in the space. A jab

:45:54. > :45:58.tackle, it was clean, Warner given two minutes and 15 seconds on the

:45:59. > :46:03.clock. If Great Britain don't score here, their chance of salvaging a

:46:04. > :46:11.point is pretty much gone. There is a TV Irra referral from Australia.

:46:12. > :46:19.Let us have a listen. UMPIRE: He said he was running backwards. This

:46:20. > :46:27.was grasping at straws. There was a stick tackle, it was perceived to be

:46:28. > :46:33.dangerous and elaborate. It is a stick tackle. The umpire was

:46:34. > :46:46.correct. The umpire communication, they are saying it was a deliberate

:46:47. > :46:53.breakdown. The umpire with the Hawkeye technology, ten different

:46:54. > :47:00.camera angles. UMPIRE: There is no change of decision. That is what we

:47:01. > :47:04.were expecting. The penalty corner will continue for Jackson. He has

:47:05. > :47:08.not had much luck from the set pieces in this tournament but

:47:09. > :47:13.Jackson will be required to hit the target in the Australian net and set

:47:14. > :47:28.us up for a frantic final couple of minutes. Sam Warner is also in the

:47:29. > :47:36.vicinity for Great Britain. They are preparing for their penalty corner,

:47:37. > :47:42.here we go. Jackson! Jackson scores in the nick of time! Jackson fires

:47:43. > :47:49.the target, two minutes to play. Great Britain one, Australia two.

:47:50. > :47:57.There seemed to be a little touch in from Fox, it was not a clean track,

:47:58. > :48:03.through the double first run, a suicide run to protect the first

:48:04. > :48:09.post, he went in between them. Ashley Jackson, that is an

:48:10. > :48:15.incredible flick under pressure. Two minutes and seven seconds to play.

:48:16. > :48:30.And Great Britain snatch a last last point here? -- grasp. He has goal

:48:31. > :48:42.keeper privileges but can take part outfield, the captain. I had written

:48:43. > :48:57.it off. One minute 45, Great Britain still in their half, on the right.

:48:58. > :49:04.Henry Weir is in the space, he has got to be positive, forward they

:49:05. > :49:15.come, dancing around dangerously. A high ball! A backhand shot, saved!

:49:16. > :49:20.Saved on the line by Swann. He has gone inside the far post, not by a

:49:21. > :49:28.lot. Australia survive and Dwyer will walk that forward to 15 metres.

:49:29. > :49:34.It touched the far post. Catlin on the backhand. Swann is doing so

:49:35. > :49:39.well, he got his left hand down by the left post, he knew exactly where

:49:40. > :49:46.he was. He let it hit the stick, didn't try to play at it. This has

:49:47. > :49:55.left us with 30 seconds or thereabouts for Great Britain to

:49:56. > :49:59.score and save a point. Middleton is playing his part. Obstructed, or so

:50:00. > :50:09.he claims, but the clock has not stop. There is under 30 seconds. A

:50:10. > :50:14.backhand to give a shooting opportunity. 15 seconds left to

:50:15. > :50:21.play. One more chance. It has to happen now. The chance is gone. The

:50:22. > :50:36.ball fired downfield. The countdown to the fruit, 15 for Great Britain.

:50:37. > :50:39.-- be hooter. Great Britain's further participation in the

:50:40. > :50:43.knockout stages, they still have the group stage to play, it hangs in the

:50:44. > :50:49.balance now. It is out of their hands. A frantic first half, a more

:50:50. > :50:55.subdued second half until the last ten minutes when things really took

:50:56. > :51:01.flight. It is Australia through Zalewski who emerged the winners.

:51:02. > :51:06.Ashley Jackson's last minute penalty corner goal was not enough to save

:51:07. > :51:14.Great Britain. Victory for Australia. The final score here,

:51:15. > :51:21.Great Britain one, Australia too. --2.

:51:22. > :51:30.STUDIO: thank you, boys. When you look at the pool, it is looking

:51:31. > :51:36.bleak for Great Britain. They have to be Spain, it could come down to

:51:37. > :51:42.goal difference. In pool B, there is an great competition. Even if Great

:51:43. > :52:00.Britain were to qualify, they are going to have to beat Germany.

:52:01. > :52:28.Before -- and all China are fair in the ping-pong. Just take a look at

:52:29. > :52:42.this. Some brilliant table tennis. On all. This game is available now

:52:43. > :52:47.live. This is live for you now on BBC Four if you want some table

:52:48. > :52:49.tennis. Remember, there is some fantastic football for you tonight

:52:50. > :52:56.as well. This is available online and on the BBC Red Button. This is

:52:57. > :53:00.huge for Brazil because Neymar has had a lot of criticism from the

:53:01. > :53:05.press in Brazil and right across the country because he avoided any

:53:06. > :53:14.questions after drawing with a rock. He refused to talk to the press. --

:53:15. > :53:18.Iraq. They need to win the made over Denmark to win a place in the

:53:19. > :53:22.knockout stages and Neymar says he fears for further embarrassment for

:53:23. > :53:27.the nation with another group exit looming. They went into this

:53:28. > :53:31.tournament as huge favourites. The Barcelona star is one of a number of

:53:32. > :53:35.top talents expected to take the gold medal. Even suggestions before

:53:36. > :53:39.this game that he was going to quit the Olympic team because of the

:53:40. > :53:44.negative press he has been getting. If you want Denmark versus Brazil

:53:45. > :53:47.live from Salvador, you should remember this stadium, it is where

:53:48. > :53:54.Spain lost to the Netherlands at the World Cup in 2014. Pressure on

:53:55. > :53:59.Neymar. That is available on the Red Button. Meanwhile here on the BBC,

:54:00. > :54:05.we have got live swimming for you. Let us join our live team. We are

:54:06. > :54:10.getting ready for Andrew Willis. The first game we have for you tonight

:54:11. > :54:13.is the 200 metres breast wreck final and Andrew Willis is going about.

:54:14. > :54:22.Here is everything you need to know about a very clever and a very

:54:23. > :54:35.excitable young man. -- breast breast stroke. Rio is your second

:54:36. > :54:41.games. Our excited you? Vary. For me, it is controlled excitement.

:54:42. > :54:57.Going to London a bit younger than, I was just in awe. Going through the

:54:58. > :55:02.rounds of the Olympics, it is everything to do every athlete, so

:55:03. > :55:06.you get that and the heats are faster and the semis are faster and

:55:07. > :55:12.there is a real feel to it that you need to put everything into each run

:55:13. > :55:17.to make sure you put themselves in the final and put yourself in the

:55:18. > :55:24.mix. I think now, I kind of know what to expect. I think you go to

:55:25. > :55:29.the big stages but the Olympics is a step above it and it is the huge

:55:30. > :55:37.occasion for me. There will be nerves, there will be excitement and

:55:38. > :55:41.there is a lot of feelings. I need to control it a bit more. It is my

:55:42. > :55:51.desire to get a medal. Andrew Willis has a very good chance

:55:52. > :55:55.of getting a medal and he has been so close so many times. He has. I

:55:56. > :56:01.hope this is the one where he can get on the podium but he will be in

:56:02. > :56:05.such a close race. Every person in this field has been 02:07,so it will

:56:06. > :56:10.be who can get their hands on the wall first. I hope he gets there, he

:56:11. > :56:14.looks so strong, if he is with everyone all with the top few in the

:56:15. > :56:15.last 15 minutes then he can do it as he is so strong through the heats

:56:16. > :56:25.and semis. Ps one APB coming into this, that

:56:26. > :56:29.will give him confidence? -- he swam APB. He is beating well, he looks

:56:30. > :56:33.confident, he looks lighter than I have seen him before, his timing

:56:34. > :56:38.looks good, he is in a good position, in lane five next two what

:56:39. > :56:40.an army and hoser key, the Japanese swimmers, the biggest threats. --

:56:41. > :56:49.what an army and host techie. It will be interesting to see how

:56:50. > :56:56.different peoples when the race. Willis is very measured. It is about

:56:57. > :57:02.managing and doing your own race. He has got a lot left in the last 15

:57:03. > :57:08.normally. Ten members of his family here, his girlfriend is best friends

:57:09. > :57:11.with Siobhan Marie O'Connor. Fingers crossed that Team Bath will have

:57:12. > :57:15.plenty to celebrate tonight. Andy, Adrian.

:57:16. > :57:21.COMMENTATOR: I'm sure they will, or I hope they will. Pray not, this guy

:57:22. > :57:27.is the biggest threat in the whole field. -- Prenot. The third fastest

:57:28. > :57:37.qualifier in this final. He is the fastest on paper. This year he went

:57:38. > :57:42.02:07.2. And here Andrew Willis, what is he going to do? He has been

:57:43. > :57:46.forth so many times, can he stepped up this time? I hope so, there isn't

:57:47. > :57:51.one person on the BBC commentary team that doesn't want him to get

:57:52. > :57:55.among the medals. Dave McNulty, you've done a great job in Bath. We

:57:56. > :58:05.saw Siobhan last night and now we have Andrew Willis, and Jazz Carlin

:58:06. > :58:08.as well. The 19-year-old is improving with every round here, the

:58:09. > :58:16.fastest qualifier, a bit unknown, first major meet. First major

:58:17. > :58:20.meeting and first major final and he has qualified fastest. It does funny

:58:21. > :58:26.things to you, it really does. Hard to call. There's Prenot, the fastest

:58:27. > :58:30.man on paper in this race, he is in three, Watanabe in four, Andrew

:58:31. > :58:38.Willis with a lifetime best qualified in five. Second fastest

:58:39. > :58:41.after the semis, Adrian. Willis graduated last year, this year he

:58:42. > :58:45.has been a full-time athlete, he is in great mental and physical shape.

:58:46. > :58:56.He has been dedicated to this moment. Time to step up a mild smile

:58:57. > :58:59.from Koch in lane one. He is either very nervous or thinking he has

:59:00. > :59:10.something special from the outside, bring it on. The world champion in

:59:11. > :59:14.lane one. Be very careful indeed. The final of the Olympic Games in

:59:15. > :59:24.Rio 2016 of the men's 200m breastroke. Andrew Willis from Great

:59:25. > :59:28.Britain goes in five. The starter help them quite a long time I have

:59:29. > :59:32.to say. A good start from Willis in the centre in the Red Hat from Great

:59:33. > :59:43.Britain. Pretty much in a line, maybe best start is Cordes in lane

:59:44. > :59:47.two and Koch in lane one. Willis has been looking at his efficiency of

:59:48. > :59:51.stroke all year. I saw him do it in the semis, he was doing it

:59:52. > :59:58.differently, right now a long glide, this is good. Sets himself up on the

:59:59. > :00:12.first leg, cross-city doing well and Cordes in lane one and two. -- cost

:00:13. > :00:26.techie. Cossack E, the older of the two Japanese, starting to set the

:00:27. > :00:36.pace. Ahead of world record. Balandin in eight. Andrew Willis is

:00:37. > :00:41.in seventh. Right in the line for the bronze medal position. Next to

:00:42. > :00:45.him is the clear leader, Koseki of Japan has gone early, Balandin is

:00:46. > :00:49.closer to us from Kazakhstan but Andrew Willis of Great Britain

:00:50. > :00:53.starting to wind it up but so are the others, Prenot 1-up from him and

:00:54. > :00:58.Cordes in two. I've never seen anyone go out in 60 seconds before,

:00:59. > :01:05.very good, we know Andrew always comes back quickly. Prenot as well

:01:06. > :01:09.in third place. This could go anywhere. Andrew Willis building his

:01:10. > :01:14.stroke. He is going to have to go very quickly with his stroke right

:01:15. > :01:19.now. Can he hold on? Koseki went very early in six. The rest of the

:01:20. > :01:25.field starting to catch him. Prenot in three for the USA. Koseki is

:01:26. > :01:30.holding on and coming back is Andrew Willis, has he left it too late?

:01:31. > :01:37.This is very close, can he get the touch? He stretches for it. Fourth.

:01:38. > :01:44.Oh dear. The gold has gone to Alan Deon in lane eight, the slowest

:01:45. > :01:50.qualifier. The silver to pregnant -- to Prenot. -- Balandin in lane

:01:51. > :01:54.eight. Andrew Willis, 81 hundredths of a second outside the bronze

:01:55. > :02:01.medal. He left himself too much to do -- 81-hundredths. Such a close

:02:02. > :02:11.race, it was all over the place. -- eight 1-hundredths. Wow. Hardly

:02:12. > :02:17.anything between them. Less than a second separating the whole field.

:02:18. > :02:23.What a story. I have no idea how that happened. I am so disappointed

:02:24. > :02:31.for Willis. I think he gave himself too much to do after the 100. I

:02:32. > :02:40.really think he did. Balandin, 21 years of age. Wow, fourth in the 100

:02:41. > :02:45.breaststroke at the World Championships, fourth in the 100,

:02:46. > :02:50.six in the 800. There was the dive, Koseki took it out, there's

:02:51. > :02:55.Balandin, the camera on him. Nearest to us in the shop here. Andrew

:02:56. > :03:00.Willis with the red cap had left himself too much to do -- shot here.

:03:01. > :03:05.I think he got forth with this finish. A strong finish. The other

:03:06. > :03:08.guys are taking a half stroke. Sometimes we don't like to see the

:03:09. > :03:14.glide but I don't think he would have got third. He had to do that.

:03:15. > :03:21.Just between strokes was Andrew. He actually kicked in second. Just had

:03:22. > :03:26.to glide. Just between strokes. But well done, Balandin, lane eight,

:03:27. > :03:34.slowest qualifier for the final and he won it. Prenot... Prenot went

:03:35. > :03:43.02:07.5. Seven one hundredths back from the winner was Prenot. Chekhov

:03:44. > :03:49.just outside that in third. -- Chupkov. Balandin of Kazakhstan.

:03:50. > :03:51.Prenot with the silver. Chupkov with the bronze and Andrew Willis

:03:52. > :04:03.agonisingly in fourth. Paul Andrew Willis! Fourth at the

:04:04. > :04:09.last two World Championships. Fourth here again -- poor. He just can't

:04:10. > :04:12.get over that hurdle. He needed another five metres and he would

:04:13. > :04:19.have meddled because he was coming back so strong. He was into hard a

:04:20. > :04:25.situation, do you do another half a stroke or do you do the glide -- in

:04:26. > :04:32.too. It is still a good time for him, just off the personal best in

:04:33. > :04:38.the semifinals. He did a good time but not the result he would have

:04:39. > :04:43.wanted. Let's hear from Andrew with Sharron. I know you're waiting and

:04:44. > :04:47.your family but we are so disappointed for you, you so deserve

:04:48. > :04:52.that medal. I was trying to turn it around. I knew I was up there but it

:04:53. > :04:57.looked like the action was happening on the outside of the pool. I knew I

:04:58. > :05:04.was up there. Just really I gave it everything down the last length. I

:05:05. > :05:11.don't know how I feel about it right now but it's another 02:07. You just

:05:12. > :05:20.left yourself a bit too much to do after the first 100? I tried to

:05:21. > :05:25.control it. My legs feel fine now. I could have done with seeing the

:05:26. > :05:29.outer lanes but I gave it everything. What for you now? You

:05:30. > :05:35.have given up a lot to do this, you've taken almost a year out?

:05:36. > :05:39.Looking back it wouldn't have meant I would have changed anything, I put

:05:40. > :05:44.everything into this year, I gave it my best, I'm not sure about the

:05:45. > :05:49.result now. But, yeah, not sure what is next. You been a great champion

:05:50. > :05:54.for British swimming so please don't swap, because we know you can do

:05:55. > :05:59.great things. Thanks very much. Hard lines. Andrew

:06:00. > :06:03.Willis so close but missing out on a medal. That awful position once

:06:04. > :06:07.again of being in fourth. We saw the action going on on the outside of

:06:08. > :06:11.the pool, when you talk about making that final decision, does that make

:06:12. > :06:15.it more difficult? It does but at the same time you concentrate on

:06:16. > :06:19.what you're doing, in breaststroke it isn't like front crawl when you

:06:20. > :06:26.are looking at both sides and seeing what is going on. It was a tough

:06:27. > :06:28.swim for him but it was a good time, just a disappointing finish. Your

:06:29. > :06:34.peripheral vision is here and here. On the turns you can't see the

:06:35. > :06:37.others. It is tough. Let's turn our attention now to swimming's answer

:06:38. > :06:41.to the Williams Sisters. Andrew, Adrian.

:06:42. > :06:50.Thank you, Helen. Simone Manuel of the USA, fastest qualifier for the

:06:51. > :06:56.first semi-final of the women's 100m next to her is the defending Olympic

:06:57. > :07:06.champion in five, Kromowidjojo. Insects, the world champion. We have

:07:07. > :07:12.a Brazilian, Medeiros in lane one. The Brazilian commentators here are

:07:13. > :07:15.being very noisy at the start and all the way through but we are

:07:16. > :07:20.trying our best. Bronte Campbell in lane six, the world champion, looked

:07:21. > :07:26.very sluggish this morning. I was surprised, I thought she would have

:07:27. > :07:29.a faster heat swim. There's Kromowidjojo, the defending champion

:07:30. > :07:37.from London. A European has won the last two Olympic Games. The German

:07:38. > :07:44.in Beijing. No British entry in this one, really disappointed with that I

:07:45. > :07:50.am. She was the world record holder in Beijing until Bronte Campbell's

:07:51. > :07:55.sister. Bronte Campbell in six. Her sister, Aru Cate earlier in the year

:07:56. > :08:04.broke it. She is in the next semi-final. -- Cate. There is the

:08:05. > :08:07.world champion, Campbell, in lane six.

:08:08. > :08:15.First semi-final of the women's 100m freestyle. A pretty shocking start

:08:16. > :08:21.from Campbell. Ended up last after the dive phase. The first 25 very

:08:22. > :08:28.quick, very quick indeed. Hard to separate them but again the race

:08:29. > :08:32.seems to be in five and six. In fact the 17-year-old Chinese going very

:08:33. > :08:38.strongly, Zhu. The Brazilian at the top. In third place right now. She

:08:39. > :08:42.needs to be top four at least with a vast time and the centre lanes are

:08:43. > :08:51.turning it on now, she is still there, Campbell coming through with

:08:52. > :08:56.the yellow cap in six. Campbell and Manuel. Manuel doing well.

:08:57. > :09:04.Kromowidjojo in the middle of the three and the big three in the

:09:05. > :09:14.centre in four, five and six. In fact Ottesen came through as well.

:09:15. > :09:18.Campbell wins it. Ottesen in third. Kromowidjojo, a bit dangerous. Five

:09:19. > :09:22.swimmers in the second semi-final are definitely capable of beating

:09:23. > :09:30.her. Absolutely. I was thinking 53.5. 53.5 should do it but she will

:09:31. > :09:35.have to wait and see. Manuel really impressive. Out quickly this morning

:09:36. > :09:43.and out quickly again tonight. Held on very strongly. A better swim from

:09:44. > :09:49.Campbell done this morning, not as sharp as I have seen her. Yellow

:09:50. > :09:59.cap. A big glide and Manuel getting in first. She is over first, Bronte

:10:00. > :10:03.Campbell. Very powerful last stroke from Simone Manuel in the picture,

:10:04. > :10:07.enormously powerful. That last arm as Team USA... Her supporting team

:10:08. > :10:21.go to her. It is a good swim, 53.11. The result of the first semi-final

:10:22. > :10:23.then. Manuel winning it, Campbell second and Ottesen inferred and

:10:24. > :10:32.Kromowidjojo will have to be careful. 53.42. -- in third. She

:10:33. > :10:36.should make it in but it will be tight. It's all about times. In

:10:37. > :10:41.theory all eight of the second semi finalists could make it through. I

:10:42. > :10:45.doubt that will happen but there are some very quick swimmers, including

:10:46. > :10:59.the new world recordholder, Bronte's sister, Cate. 52.084 100m freestyle

:11:00. > :11:03.from a woman, oh my word. She has done a 24.89. I thought she looked

:11:04. > :11:14.sluggish this morning but the time was quick. A lot quicker than the

:11:15. > :11:18.rest of the field. The 16-year-old Canadian, Oleksiak, already got a

:11:19. > :11:24.silver and bronze in these Games. You can see the curtain, it is

:11:25. > :11:31.almost like the building is inside. Almost like an optic and. There is a

:11:32. > :11:34.curtain around with metal struts -- almost like an octagon. The design

:11:35. > :11:39.is shielding the building but when it is warm the heat comes through,

:11:40. > :11:46.when it is cold and whistles around our ankles. A beautiful pool. The

:11:47. > :11:50.Canadians waiting for Penny Oleksiak to come out. They are having a

:11:51. > :11:57.fantastic meet, the Canadians, a real resurgence. A couple of Brits,

:11:58. > :12:03.Atkinson, the performance director, and Titley, coaching Oleksiak. Here

:12:04. > :12:07.is the start list for the second semi-final. Cate Campbell, the world

:12:08. > :12:25.recordholder in number four. junior recordholder, Oleksiak. There

:12:26. > :12:33.is another 16-year-old Canadian, in the relay, who got the medal. It is

:12:34. > :12:38.quite telling, isn't it? If you have a look there on the left, there is

:12:39. > :12:42.Campbell, they know they are on TV. They are acting up. As they come

:12:43. > :12:46.out, they start got a little more serious and focused as they come

:12:47. > :12:51.through. You would not see Phelps do that, he would be in a world of his

:12:52. > :13:05.own, listening to music and growling at all the other swimmers. There was

:13:06. > :13:14.that hilarious Shardlow -- shadowboxing from his whim. Here we

:13:15. > :13:48.are, the 16-year-old again. A great experience for her. The centre

:13:49. > :13:55.lanes, three, four, five. They have felt it, they have got the medal.

:13:56. > :14:09.They are going to fancy a chance. She may be in one of the outside

:14:10. > :14:16.lanes but she is vast. Weitzel. 16 Dea old Oleksiak of Canada. She is

:14:17. > :14:25.the third fastest seed in this, the second semi-final. -- 16-year-old.

:14:26. > :14:39.Here comes some superstars. Campbell and five. Thought she might have a

:14:40. > :14:43.go at the 200 metre boat -- but Levicki was too fast for her. One of

:14:44. > :14:48.the two sisters and the world record holder. What a family. One of the

:14:49. > :14:51.sisters is a world champion and the other sister is the world record

:14:52. > :14:58.holder and they are probably going to be going into the final in centre

:14:59. > :15:06.lanes tomorrow. I keep saying 16 and that is phenomenal. There is the

:15:07. > :15:09.world record holder. Interesting to see what happened here. She could go

:15:10. > :15:18.forwards in the semi-final and tried to push the world record. I would

:15:19. > :15:24.love to see that. They are getting faster. Of course, the time change

:15:25. > :15:31.is affecting some more than others. Campbell was talking about being all

:15:32. > :15:44.over the place and they have been working on that they got count.

:15:45. > :15:47.Second semi-final, the women's. The yellow hat of the world record

:15:48. > :15:58.holder in one of these centre lanes, Cate in number four, the other

:15:59. > :16:01.centre land for Sjostrom. The dark costume for Campbell, the late blue

:16:02. > :16:05.costume for Sjostrom. Kumble is really taking it out now. You can

:16:06. > :16:10.see the bottom, that is the world record for the splits. It was quite

:16:11. > :16:17.a slow turnover. She is just in front. Campbell really dominating

:16:18. > :16:27.this race right now. A beautiful technique. She looks lychee is doing

:16:28. > :16:36.a 200 freestyle, it is so long and powerful. -- like she. Oleksiak is

:16:37. > :16:48.having a really good go. Campbell, just. What an amazing swim that was.

:16:49. > :16:56.A new Olympic record for Cate Campbell of Australia and a new

:16:57. > :17:02.Canadian record and a new junior world record, I think. It has got to

:17:03. > :17:07.be a Canadian record for Oleksiak, absolutely. What are wonderful

:17:08. > :17:13.summer comes she was coming back release from we at the end. Campbell

:17:14. > :17:19.will come out fastest but as one of the younger swimmers coming through,

:17:20. > :17:26.that is Oleksiak. You can see Sjostrom on the right, she came in

:17:27. > :17:31.third place. Campbell, a head at the turn and it looked like she was

:17:32. > :17:53.cruising to this. The girl with the Canadian swimming cap pushed. Well,

:17:54. > :17:59.he was also coaching the famous Adam Peaty. Also a world record holder.

:18:00. > :18:05.Baby faced but goodness me, and assassin on that one, wasn't she?

:18:06. > :18:14.The results of that second semi final women's 100 made a freestyle,

:18:15. > :18:19.Cate Campbell gets the new record. The Canadian record for Oleksiak.

:18:20. > :18:28.Sjostrom was actually pretty slow after all of that. She may just make

:18:29. > :18:32.the final, let us have a look. So into the final. Goodness me, she

:18:33. > :18:37.only just makes it. The fastest is Cate Campbell of Australia. There

:18:38. > :18:39.will be two Australians, to make Americans. The defending champion is

:18:40. > :18:55.seven. --2. No Brits in that one. Sharon, when

:18:56. > :19:03.it comes to women in the pool, we are seeing some real world power at

:19:04. > :19:06.the minute. How do you see it? These new youngsters who come through,

:19:07. > :19:11.they make the Olympic Games really exciting. Penney has only just

:19:12. > :19:15.walked by and even though she is only 16, she is six foot tall and

:19:16. > :19:19.incredibly strong. When you like young comic you have no fear of

:19:20. > :19:23.anyone else. You can always go in and there will always be another

:19:24. > :19:28.Olympic Games or maybe two and that takes up a lot of mental pressure.

:19:29. > :19:32.That said, my money is on Cate Campbell. She looks very much in

:19:33. > :19:44.control and she still has a full one point by seconds on top of anyone

:19:45. > :19:51.else. How close are the Campbell sisters? They are travelling around

:19:52. > :19:58.the world as sisters. They can share headdresses! You will not get on

:19:59. > :20:01.each other's nerves. It is very familiar. I think when you go into

:20:02. > :20:06.the Green room you are together as well. They know each other

:20:07. > :20:09.incredibly well, they are very relaxed, they package of up and they

:20:10. > :20:15.are very lovely girls. They are really friendly. I think it is

:20:16. > :20:25.definitely a plus. It is going to work for them. The them and's 200

:20:26. > :20:29.metre breast red. Andrew Willis just missed out on a medal. He is such a

:20:30. > :20:45.polite young man but how did he send? -- Seema? He is very polite,

:20:46. > :20:50.isn't he? He took time out of an engineering degree to come towards

:20:51. > :20:57.this. I have to say, there was a Russian who came in third and maybe

:20:58. > :21:05.that will change. Sharon, thank you very much. Of course, we have got

:21:06. > :21:16.another young Brit in the final and a little later, were we get some

:21:17. > :21:21.doubles? Very, very smooth. It is jampacked. I think Mitch Larkin did

:21:22. > :21:28.not look his best in the 100 metres, which you would expect. I would be

:21:29. > :21:36.interested to see... It is got very loud, sorry! I think we should hand

:21:37. > :21:40.over to Andrew and Adrian. Every evening they are fighting with the

:21:41. > :21:46.Brazilian commentators who, by all accounts, have their own set of

:21:47. > :21:51.rules. While they do have their own set of rules but I think we have

:21:52. > :21:56.quietened them so much that they are settling down. I think they are

:21:57. > :22:07.little quieter now. The new commentator is very mild mannered.

:22:08. > :22:29.He could work or the BBC. This is the 200 metres backstroke. This is

:22:30. > :22:39.been a relatively slow he will this backstroke. The Americans have won

:22:40. > :22:49.this event all the way since 1996 in Atlanta. They have done the same in

:22:50. > :23:03.the 100 metre. I think you are right. I would like to see them get

:23:04. > :23:08.closer to 54 seconds or closer. He has just turned his music up. Some

:23:09. > :23:14.boys are starting to go. The inexperienced boy at Lane one has

:23:15. > :23:23.got his feet up at the stands ready to go. They are taking their time.

:23:24. > :23:30.The Guy in lane one is ready to go. They cannot start until everyone is

:23:31. > :23:35.going. We need to do whatever they need to do to prepare themselves and

:23:36. > :23:47.be ready. Everyone is ready to go. The Brazilian is standing up next

:23:48. > :24:01.was ready to go. They will be cheering for lane seven. One lane

:24:02. > :24:07.from the bottom, one lane from us, the Brazilian de Deus. I do not

:24:08. > :24:15.expect him to get through but there will be a lot of noise for him.

:24:16. > :24:21.Murphy and five for the USA. -- in five. There is an awful lot of

:24:22. > :24:27.noise. It is a great shame. The crowd do not seem to understand that

:24:28. > :24:35.you have got to be quiet for the start.

:24:36. > :24:48.Do not know if you saw that, Josh Beaver of Australia, he did this in

:24:49. > :25:02.the heats. He goes up -- goes out very quickly. That was quite an

:25:03. > :25:07.outrageous when. -- swim. Josh Beaver has gone out fast. This will

:25:08. > :25:22.medallist from Glasgow, a smooth stroke. Murphy maybe just out over

:25:23. > :25:27.first. It is Beaver in lane two. The bold patterned The Centre, the three

:25:28. > :25:37.leading, Jiayu is starting to make a move now. He is starting to look

:25:38. > :25:41.good now. I do like that stroke. Beautiful, and Beaver is holding on.

:25:42. > :25:43.I thought that when Murphy got him in the 100 metres, he would not look

:25:44. > :25:58.back. Murphy comes up at 16 metres ahead

:25:59. > :26:08.of all of them and Beaver really tying up. And absolutely phenomenal

:26:09. > :26:26.swim. Utterly brilliant on the final terms. Easing up. Xu second. Irie

:26:27. > :26:31.came back for Japan and Glania from Germany. The final turn doesn't look

:26:32. > :26:39.that tired. He looked good, didn't he? Unsurprised it was under 01:55.

:26:40. > :26:45.Murphy, calm and collected and that gold will give him a lot of

:26:46. > :26:51.confidence coming into this. No pressure. Really cool under pressure

:26:52. > :26:56.anyway. Never seen him break into any form of smile, he smiled a bit

:26:57. > :27:01.when he won the gold. Keeps himself quite contained. A big victory in

:27:02. > :27:07.the end from Xu, wasn't it? I have to say, all of that lead was gained

:27:08. > :27:10.on the final tone and in actual fact Xu caught him up a bit but must have

:27:11. > :27:22.been. You know what, I don't think the

:27:23. > :27:31.Brazilian guys are commentating on this race, that is why there is no

:27:32. > :27:33.sound. The first semi-final of the backstroke commentated in peace

:27:34. > :27:40.because the Brazilian commentators next to us an commentating. --

:27:41. > :27:48.aren't commentating. We will be back with the second

:27:49. > :27:53.semi-final in a moment but for now, from the house of fun, back to the

:27:54. > :27:57.house of Elliott. You are looking smart. Backstroke much indeed, a

:27:58. > :28:02.little pockets were just for you this evening. Thanks very much

:28:03. > :28:06.indeed. At the Copacabana there's been a big goal in Salvador because

:28:07. > :28:10.Brazil need to beat Denmark to stay in contention for the gold in the

:28:11. > :28:17.Olympic Games. All Brazilians wanted to see this. Listened to the raw. It

:28:18. > :28:21.is Gabrielle Barbosa with the goal on 25 minutes, they lead Denmark by

:28:22. > :28:25.1-0. Leicester fans might be interested to know Barbosa might be

:28:26. > :28:31.joining the Premier League champions. They tabled a ?23 million

:28:32. > :28:37.bid for Barbosa. This is the scene in the table tennis. This is the

:28:38. > :28:43.gold women's singles match. It is Ding against Li.

:28:44. > :28:55.2-2 before this happened. Li, fantastic rally. Taking the lead.

:28:56. > :29:00.Leads by 3-2. That's available on the red button. That Brazil against

:29:01. > :29:04.Denmark game, terrific came on the red button but if you want swimming,

:29:05. > :29:12.that's fine too and back to Helen. Going into the second semi-final.

:29:13. > :29:17.You can pick your pent up later. Don't fall over on live television.

:29:18. > :29:27.Mitch Larkin, what is going on with Tim? You tell us. He's not having a

:29:28. > :29:30.great meeting. It's not been bad. We have a saying that if people aren't

:29:31. > :29:33.performing they haven't travelled well but that's just us having a

:29:34. > :29:42.laugh. At the World Championship the won a gold in the 100 and here he

:29:43. > :29:55.came fourth in the 100 backstroke and wasn't at his best. In the heats

:29:56. > :30:03.when you are not informed sometimes you hope something will click and

:30:04. > :30:10.sometimes it doesn't. I think he looks better on this. He looks out

:30:11. > :30:14.of his depth on the 100. This morning he did look more like the

:30:15. > :30:21.old Mitch Larkin that we saw. He is one to watch for the podium tomorrow

:30:22. > :30:24.night in the final. Emily Seebohm, his girlfriend, will be

:30:25. > :30:31.disappointed, maybe they have had a lover's test. Greenback is a young

:30:32. > :30:35.British backstroke Prospect and he has moved clubs recently, could we

:30:36. > :30:40.see him in the future? He missed the team but he is one of our hopefuls

:30:41. > :30:44.do come through, hopefully he will be at the World Championships next

:30:45. > :30:49.year, he has done a bit of training so far with Mal Marshall Dobbie

:30:50. > :30:54.training next to an Olympic champion Adam Peaty isn't a bad programme.

:30:55. > :30:59.Hopefully he is one of our brightest stars for the next Olympics. One

:31:00. > :31:03.thing we do do well in the UK is try and put some of the younger swimmers

:31:04. > :31:07.in better programmes with better facilities and coaches. I'm not

:31:08. > :31:14.saying what he has done at the moment is fantastic. But sometimes

:31:15. > :31:15.you need change. Touching legs, chucking pens, it's all going on,

:31:16. > :31:25.isn't it? Adrian. To us in the commentary box. Very

:31:26. > :31:30.serious up here. Mitch Larkin has a job to do, he has to be very serious

:31:31. > :31:35.in the semi-final because he didn't do a good job at all. He was meant

:31:36. > :31:42.to win the 110 four, he was meant to win the 200, this is the semi-final

:31:43. > :31:48.-- win the 100 and he came fourth. I wonder what is going through

:31:49. > :31:52.Larkin's head? He was a massive favourite for the backstroke. He

:31:53. > :31:56.didn't even get a medal. The best thing to be going through his head

:31:57. > :32:01.right now is getting a good start. If he has any fluff in his head then

:32:02. > :32:07.he has a problem. He has to cut it all out. You can analyse it and work

:32:08. > :32:12.on things in the training pool. You can't change much at this point. You

:32:13. > :32:20.have to relax and know you are good enough to do this. Lane four, I was

:32:21. > :32:26.impressed with the 19-year-old from Russia. Came back a bit slow but

:32:27. > :32:34.came back. That is Rylov in line for. Larkin doesn't need a fast time

:32:35. > :32:45.to qualify. The heat swim was 0.1 of this year's best time for him.

:32:46. > :32:51.Pebley, the teammate of the winner of the last semi-final, Ryan Murphy.

:32:52. > :33:03.Second semi-final of the men's 200 backstroke. Rylov of Russia. Here he

:33:04. > :33:07.is. Hasn't tucked his hair in! He pulled himself up very close to the

:33:08. > :33:12.box. Quite a difficult position to get out of if you are really tight,

:33:13. > :33:16.if your knees are up to your chest. Really difficult to get out of this.

:33:17. > :33:20.Lot of swimmers butting their cells out of it, going as if they have

:33:21. > :33:26.started, holding back -- putting themselves. A different approach to

:33:27. > :33:31.this semi-final. Mitch Larkin of Australia. Larkin really trying to

:33:32. > :33:36.shake it off, isn't he? What was going through his head was a good

:33:37. > :33:42.start. He wants to get into the race. Haven't seen him do that.

:33:43. > :33:46.Pebley in three, still strong in the black cap and Rylov is in a position

:33:47. > :33:59.better than this morning. Beautiful long arms. The Japanese, Kanenko. He

:34:00. > :34:05.isn't slow, is the? First over is the Australian Mitch Larkin. -- is

:34:06. > :34:12.the. He still looks like he is working very hard. -- isn't he?

:34:13. > :34:19.Doesn't look as smooth and efficient -- is he. Coming through in six is

:34:20. > :34:25.heavily for the USA. It is three and five. Pebley and Larkin and Rylov

:34:26. > :34:29.starting to come through. You said he did this in the heats, very fast

:34:30. > :34:36.in the second 100 and he is doing it now. Larkin is diving off the wall.

:34:37. > :34:41.Rylov, big fly kicks, Rylov coming through and not looking strong.

:34:42. > :34:46.Pebley coming through too. What is going to happen with this one? I

:34:47. > :34:50.think they will be fast enough to make the final but Larkin really

:34:51. > :34:54.struggling in the last 15 metres. This is fascinating, I have to say.

:34:55. > :35:00.He doesn't look good, he has worked too hard and I think he is paying

:35:01. > :35:04.for it. Sped up a bit at the end, the time isn't slow. That isn't

:35:05. > :35:09.slow. I am sure he would have wanted to win that and to go out so hard

:35:10. > :35:14.and have the others overtake him, odd thing to do if you are a proud

:35:15. > :35:18.world champion, hopefully world record holder at some time and maybe

:35:19. > :35:23.Olympic champion. After his fourth in his 100, a bit surprised he let

:35:24. > :35:27.that go. I'm not sure if he wanted to let that go, and the. I don't

:35:28. > :35:33.think there's anything in that at all. -- Andy. I think Mitch Larkin

:35:34. > :35:37.didn't travel well. I don't know. He is a second off the time he's one

:35:38. > :35:46.happy Australia Day trials earlier in the year and right now he went

:35:47. > :35:51.for it, took it out -- he swung at the Australian trials. -- swum.

:35:52. > :35:59.I think Rylov was easing off at the back end then as well. The final is

:36:00. > :36:04.just going to be really interesting. If Mitch Larkin does that again they

:36:05. > :36:11.will pick him off for a second time. He's another point to worry about,

:36:12. > :36:16.tucking his hair in. He has done it now, why didn't he do it when he

:36:17. > :36:20.started? The second semi-final won by Rylov and he looked comfortable.

:36:21. > :36:28.Mitch Larkin swam an interesting race, and of other one. Pebley third

:36:29. > :36:33.and Li of China fourth. -- an ordered one. We will see the

:36:34. > :36:44.qualifiers for the final in a second -- ordered one. Rylov, two Americans

:36:45. > :36:47.in their -- ought one. The outside, Irie, that will be dangerous.

:36:48. > :36:53.Mitch Larkin is going second fastest, he has travelled all right.

:36:54. > :36:57.In the 100 when he came fourth, he could have potentially won a medal,

:36:58. > :37:01.that's all I'm saying and he wasn't at his best. The guys said at the

:37:02. > :37:05.commentary, he seems to be fighting at the beginning of the race, he was

:37:06. > :37:10.much more relaxed at the worlds when he won. He did well at the trials in

:37:11. > :37:15.Australia as well. He will have more for the final. Murphy is in great

:37:16. > :37:20.form and Rylov, the Russian, looks nice, long and easy but he has got a

:37:21. > :37:26.shout. Backstroke double four Ryan Murphy? Yes. Lots to look forward to

:37:27. > :37:29.from the swimming. Duncans got in the 100 freestyle and the mighty,

:37:30. > :37:34.mighty Michael Phelps -- Duncan Scott. I was waiting to say danger

:37:35. > :37:36.mouse then! He is coming up later. Jason.

:37:37. > :37:43.Let's bring you up to date with the table tennis. A cracking match going

:37:44. > :37:48.on in the women's singles. The gold match. Predictably it is all China.

:37:49. > :37:57.Ding against Li. Ding made it 3-3, which means we are now into a

:37:58. > :38:01.decider. We join it with the scores tied at 3-3. Let's join our

:38:02. > :38:04.commentators Simon Reed and Paul And.

:38:05. > :38:18.COMMENTATOR: What a way to turn things around once again.

:38:19. > :38:39.Fought back but still found some room to drive that.

:38:40. > :38:45.Again it is sporadic for Li. Almost like she is tied up with cobwebs of

:38:46. > :38:49.doubt. Something going on in her mind right now but doesn't look as

:38:50. > :38:55.assured as she did earlier in the match. Whereas Ding is roaring, as

:38:56. > :39:11.she wins every solitary point now. Cruel luck. Another run of three

:39:12. > :39:57.points. This time for Ding. That run comes to an end after three

:39:58. > :40:00.points. One of Li's best shots of the game. She got on to it so

:40:01. > :40:34.quickly to reduce the deficit. Both you sense are a little hesitant

:40:35. > :40:38.at this stage, playing some very cagey half percentage choices. She

:40:39. > :40:44.changed her shot completely and it fooled Li. Thought it was going to

:40:45. > :40:45.be another big top spin, instead she bumped it it a crosscourt. She is

:40:46. > :41:04.four points away. -- across court. It served her so well, the backhand,

:41:05. > :41:11.throughout, hasn't it? But just finding the net when she need it'd

:41:12. > :41:16.most. -- needed it most. Time running out for Li to re-find the

:41:17. > :41:26.magical form that she had in the second and fourth games.

:41:27. > :41:37.The luck is going fiercely against her. And it's almost as if Xiaoxia

:41:38. > :41:42.Li now is playing to defend that title. It has been a little

:41:43. > :41:44.tentative, this deciding game. Ning Ding a little more adventurous, more

:41:45. > :41:55.imaginative. But still going for it when she has

:41:56. > :42:34.half an opportunity. Again, it didn't end another way.

:42:35. > :42:37.The margin is so tight. But they primarily moved against Li in this

:42:38. > :43:03.final game. Five points for the gold medal.

:43:04. > :43:20.Surely it's a secure cushion for Ding Ning.

:43:21. > :43:38.Oh! Well, that time the luck reverses. But didn't Li go for it?

:43:39. > :43:44.Well, it's back against the wall. Stand up and be counted moment for

:43:45. > :43:51.Xiaoxia Li now. So, a time-out called. And respectfully the coach

:43:52. > :43:55.has taken a back seat. He's watching from afar. But following both of

:43:56. > :44:06.them. Just when you thought the match was

:44:07. > :44:18.glued to Ding Ning, back comes Li. Is it too late?

:44:19. > :44:33.Once more, it's the gold medal point for the third time.

:44:34. > :44:48.She's got it! Revenge is sweet. Look at the emotion. She's now won

:44:49. > :44:51.everything in table tennis. She has won the World Cup. She's won the

:44:52. > :44:58.World Championship a couple of times. And now Ding Ning from

:44:59. > :45:04.Beijing is the Olympic champion. Dedicated her whole life to this

:45:05. > :45:07.kind of moment. Truly a world-class performance, leaving us breathless,

:45:08. > :45:08.in awe and admiration. And look at what it means to her. Completely

:45:09. > :45:20.overwhelmed. Wonderful moment. It was a great gold medal match. And

:45:21. > :45:23.Ding got the silver medal at London 2012, but won gold in the World

:45:24. > :45:27.Championships in China earlier this year. So, a fantastic result for

:45:28. > :45:31.Ding. Right, let's take you to Salvador. Big pressure on Brazil

:45:32. > :45:48.taking on Denmark. Let's have the first half with Kevin.

:45:49. > :45:53.No power on the shot from Gabriel. Renato Augusto with a penetrating

:45:54. > :46:04.run here. Here's Neymar. And now this is a

:46:05. > :46:18.definite opportunity for Neymar to strike at goal. Looks to be a gap. A

:46:19. > :46:23.tempting one here for Neymar. Goes for the chip. And it very nearly

:46:24. > :46:36.brought dividends. Rodrigo around the back. He was on side. But denied

:46:37. > :46:42.by a good save. Neymar. A chance now! Jesus! First genuine

:46:43. > :46:44.introduction to the Danish goal for Brazil. But he missed at the near

:46:45. > :47:07.post. Santos. Whips in a great cross. And

:47:08. > :47:13.there's a goal for Brazil! And he gets a goal. It's Gabriel. What a

:47:14. > :47:15.superb ball in from Douglas Santos. And that is a tidy finish from

:47:16. > :47:28.Gabriel. Lovely reception of the ball. The

:47:29. > :47:42.cross. This Brazil team has woken from its

:47:43. > :47:57.slumber. And it's lift-off in Salvador. Lovely work from Luan. The

:47:58. > :48:02.exchange with Gabriel. And the cross got the finish it deserved from

:48:03. > :48:17.Gabriel Jesus. A good finish from Gabriel Jesus.

:48:18. > :48:20.So, it's all going well for Brazil. As it stands, they are going through

:48:21. > :48:24.to the knockout stages. If you want to watch the second half of that

:48:25. > :48:30.match, that's available on the red button. Here on BBC One, let's go

:48:31. > :48:36.back to swimming. Yes, you join us as the gold medal

:48:37. > :48:39.is collected for the 200m breaststroke. Andrew Willis went for

:48:40. > :48:44.Great Britain in that one. Just missed out. Fourth place. We don't

:48:45. > :48:49.see many Olympic swimming champions from Kazakhstan, do we? No. No, we

:48:50. > :48:54.don't see any at all, no. This is the first-ever medal for Kazakhstan

:48:55. > :48:58.in swimming. So, I mean, we're trying to find out what... He might

:48:59. > :49:04.be the start of a new craze in Kazakhstan. He came 25th at the

:49:05. > :49:06.World Championships in 2013, sixth last World Championships, so he's

:49:07. > :49:10.obviously been around in the swimming world for a bit and

:49:11. > :49:13.obviously starting to improve. And obviously here just blown everyone

:49:14. > :49:19.out of the water. We talk often about legacies, and, you know, we've

:49:20. > :49:22.talked a lot about Adrian and what he's done for breaststroke in the

:49:23. > :49:29.UK. And he's gonna be a superstar in Kazakhstan, isn't he? Yeah, it was a

:49:30. > :49:35.bit like Lithuania, a swimmer who was 15 at the Olympic Games. It

:49:36. > :49:38.always takes someone to step up and inspire a nation of footballers,

:49:39. > :49:41.swimmers. Brazil is football crazy, but swimming is a big sport over

:49:42. > :49:45.here. That's because historically, it has good swimmers in the country.

:49:46. > :49:48.Then you've got role models and other people to look up to. Andrew

:49:49. > :49:52.Willis, who went for Great Britain in that one, just missed out, coming

:49:53. > :49:56.so close. We heard him say earlier how hi feels like he has been in an

:49:57. > :49:59.Olympic final just to get on to the team for this. Because British

:50:00. > :50:05.breaststroke, especially in the boys, is so strong? Yeah, we have

:50:06. > :50:09.depth amongst the boys on the 100m and 200m. I think probably all of

:50:10. > :50:12.the four, five boys could be in an Olympic final. But obviously only

:50:13. > :50:15.two swimmers get to compete here. It is really, really tough. It just

:50:16. > :50:18.shows obviously historically we've had the resource, but also moving

:50:19. > :50:22.forward there's always somebody challenging that spot. And it does

:50:23. > :50:26.make it tough. But also I think it's also nice to have that, because it's

:50:27. > :50:32.one of those where you know you're the best in the world. In London, we

:50:33. > :50:35.had Michael Jamieson, who took a silver medal. For him not to make

:50:36. > :50:39.the team says something about your squad. I think so. It's one of these

:50:40. > :50:42.situations whereby when you've got some of the best swimmers in the

:50:43. > :50:46.world, unfortunately all in the same event, you've gotta fight really

:50:47. > :50:49.hard. All of a sudden, when you are the number one, you're one of the

:50:50. > :50:59.best or the best swimmer in the world. Next up, the 200m women's

:51:00. > :51:04.butterfly final. Those who we expect the medals to go to will swim very

:51:05. > :51:11.different races. Brianna Throssell from Australia goes out like a

:51:12. > :51:15.rocket and holds on. Mireia Belmonte just - don't panic if you think, why

:51:16. > :51:21.is she so far behind? It's how they swim. They are total opposites. We

:51:22. > :51:25.saw it in the individual medley. We know Belmonte is on form. It's just

:51:26. > :51:29.how much Groves can hang on. All right. Let's see which way this one

:51:30. > :51:33.goes. Andrew, Adrian. Thank you, Helen. And there's the

:51:34. > :51:36.second-fastest qualifier, Mireia Belmonte. Well, she's back from

:51:37. > :51:40.injury. She's got a cracking chance here. She was a silver medallist in

:51:41. > :51:47.London 2012. And I wonder if she can go one better here. Madeline Groves,

:51:48. > :51:50.she was the Commonwealth Games champion in Glasgow. She's the

:51:51. > :51:56.fastest qualifier. But I've gotta tell you, there's no major, major

:51:57. > :52:03.name, no superstar 200m butterfly swimmer in this final. Katinka

:52:04. > :52:09.pulled out to concentrate on the 200m medley. I bet she's pleased now

:52:10. > :52:19.because she only beat Siobhan-Marie O'Connor by a bit.

:52:20. > :52:21.. Madeline Groves and Hoshi in four and six, with Belmonte rapidly

:52:22. > :52:28.recovering from that injury last year. And with a bronze in the 400

:52:29. > :52:32.medley, we'll have some confidence coming into this race, and could be

:52:33. > :52:40.the first Spanish woman's gold medallist. Can't see beyond three -

:52:41. > :52:43.sorry, four, five, six. Sorry, just right at the bottom there, in lane

:52:44. > :52:48.eight, everyone was ready to go. Cammile Adams hadn't even put her

:52:49. > :52:52.hat on yet. I understand going nice and slow and going at your pace, but

:52:53. > :52:58.not having your hat and goggles on is really weird. I wonder if a

:52:59. > :53:01.goggles strap snapped. Right at the bottom there, she's still panicking

:53:02. > :53:04.a little bit, you know? She's not quite ready.

:53:05. > :53:09.The final of the women's 200m butterfly.

:53:10. > :53:14.And the yellow hat in the centre of Maddie Groves of Australia, the

:53:15. > :53:17.fastest seed. But, to be honest, the medals could go from absolutely

:53:18. > :53:22.anywhere here at this final. Maddie Groves up quick and out fast. Adams,

:53:23. > :53:26.the adrenaline was going down the bottom, wasn't it, Andy? I'm not

:53:27. > :53:29.sure if that would have put her off. Maddie Groves, the question again,

:53:30. > :53:33.after seeing the semifinal, is whether, if she goes out this quick,

:53:34. > :53:39.she can hold on. Very strong first 100m. Belmonte will sit back a

:53:40. > :53:45.little bit. And Hoshi also. The World Championships, came back

:53:46. > :53:50.strongly as well. So, Hoshi has the fastest best time - 2.04.69.

:53:51. > :53:54.Belmonte 2.04.78. Again, on paper, you've got the two with the black

:53:55. > :53:57.caps, they're nearest the camera. But Maddie Groves is taking it out.

:53:58. > :54:04.The 21-year-old is doing what she knows best. Well, it's the only way

:54:05. > :54:09.that we've seen her swim so far - go out fast. And now starting already

:54:10. > :54:17.to wind it up. Hasn't even got to the 100m mark yet. Belmonte of

:54:18. > :54:20.Spain. She got a bronze medal in the 400 medley, just beating Great

:54:21. > :54:29.Britain's Hannah. Belmonte starting to attack. Has Groves gone too

:54:30. > :54:33.early? Has Belmonte gone too early? And Hoshi, the world champion. This

:54:34. > :54:38.is very interesting. I think Maddie Groves will tush at this one. We're

:54:39. > :54:43.not expected to -- turn at this one. We're not expecting her to be caught

:54:44. > :54:48.at this point. Under water, big old kick. Staying under quite a long

:54:49. > :54:51.time. And that half a metre could be - make abdifference. And Hoshi will

:54:52. > :54:55.come back really strongly in sixth. Well, she's just back from a

:54:56. > :55:01.shoulder injury. And to come back and do 400 medley and this, the 200

:55:02. > :55:05.fly, is punishing. Coming back very quickly in six is Natsumi Hoshi of

:55:06. > :55:09.Japan. Coming back again is Maddie Groves. How does she have the energy

:55:10. > :55:16.to come back? She was out so quick. She's coming back again. Groves has

:55:17. > :55:19.got it, I think. Belmonte wins it by three 100ths of a second for Spain.

:55:20. > :55:24.Well done, her. She was a silver medallist in London 2012. On this

:55:25. > :55:29.200m butterfly. She's had a massive shoulder injury, taken a whole year

:55:30. > :55:33.out. Goodness me. Oh, I'm so pleased for you! Well done! Sorks brilliant.

:55:34. > :55:37.Brilliant stuff. -- oh, brilliant, brilliant stuff.

:55:38. > :55:42.Well, the first winner, female winner for Spain in swimming.

:55:43. > :55:49.Belmonte, two silvers in London. And this was a brilliant swim. She paced

:55:50. > :55:53.it supremely well. Groves was coming back. We thought Hoshi might come

:55:54. > :55:55.too. She held them off. What a fantastic swim. Well, they're in

:55:56. > :56:13.tears in the stands. Look at this. Coached by Fred Manu. French coach.

:56:14. > :56:19.That third 50. I'm looking at technique here. Look at this slow

:56:20. > :56:23.motion. This is it. This is the last turn I think. What a bizarre tactic,

:56:24. > :56:28.Maddy Groves went out really quick, got caught up all the way on the

:56:29. > :56:32.third 50 and overtaken and then came back on the 200 flight. Doesn't

:56:33. > :56:37.happen. I was surprised she had anything left to come back, shows

:56:38. > :56:45.great fighting spirit from Groves -- fly. First-place. Groves... Supreme

:56:46. > :56:54.finishing from Belmont take. If you can't get a full stroke in, jabber

:56:55. > :57:06.it in with a small one. That was a wise, mature swim. My goodness me.

:57:07. > :57:10.Groves' arms went in well before Belmonte's but she absolutely

:57:11. > :57:16.stabbed them home. You're right, what a good swim. Belmonte wins gold

:57:17. > :57:21.in the women's 200 and is Butterfly. It was there for the taking and she

:57:22. > :57:23.grabbed it. Maddy Groves with the silver and the world champion,

:57:24. > :57:32.Hoshi, takes the bronze. Next up we have the men's 100m

:57:33. > :57:36.freestyle final. You dance. Go for your life! You love this song! We

:57:37. > :57:44.could do a bit of karaoke on this, we were doing this earlier? Duncan

:57:45. > :57:49.Scott. He is in and outside lane but we have seen tonight, if you got a

:57:50. > :57:52.lane, you got a chance. We've seen some metal is coming from the

:57:53. > :57:57.outside lanes and the Kazakhstan swimmer in the breaststroke, famous

:57:58. > :58:03.in Kazakhstan, not as much as Borat, though -- medals. He has got dress

:58:04. > :58:08.all next to him. You have no one beside you in the first lane. It

:58:09. > :58:17.gets a bit wavy. Clearwater, though. Olympic champion in the middle of

:58:18. > :58:21.the pool in lane four, Adrian. I love talking to you too as you go

:58:22. > :58:27.into a commentary battle with the Brazilians, Adrian and Andy.

:58:28. > :58:32.COMMENTATOR: Normally we can't hear ourselves when they hand over with

:58:33. > :58:36.the Brazilians out there. The Brits in the final at the 100 metres free

:58:37. > :58:41.is I at the Olympic Games. Fissette a British record in the heats and

:58:42. > :58:48.just outside of that to qualify -- he said -- freestyle. Not only good

:58:49. > :58:52.for this but our medley relay. That last race of the Championships we've

:58:53. > :58:57.got a great chance now. Tough to call. The big guys in the middle

:58:58. > :59:01.will be fascinating. Starting with this guy, dress all of the UK.

:59:02. > :59:08.Dressel, the 19-year-old next to Duncan Scott, the 19-year-old --

:59:09. > :59:12.trestle. The young pretenders. Another 18-year-old coming in five,

:59:13. > :59:17.but Condorelli, the 21-year-old Canadian, lane six, he goes out

:59:18. > :59:26.quickly of the gun -- Dressel. Trains with Kevin Cordes in

:59:27. > :59:32.Singapore with Lopez, Condorelli. This will be fascinating, McAvoy in

:59:33. > :59:38.the Australian trials went 47 .0. So far he has only got 247.9. He's

:59:39. > :59:45.never performed and stood up on the world stage yet -- to 47.9. His

:59:46. > :59:51.compatriot Kyle Chambers has a new junior record to qualify for this

:59:52. > :59:55.final. -- Kyle Chalmers. The Australians will have the defending

:59:56. > :00:02.Olympic champion Nathan Adrian all nice and slow stock... Oh my

:00:03. > :00:10.goodness me! He is out like a boxer. A slow, rolling gait. Four years in

:00:11. > :00:16.London it was Australia against America and this guy, Nathan Adrian,

:00:17. > :00:24.beat the Australian by one 100th of a second. In Rio we've got USA into

:00:25. > :00:31.Mac. Australia in three. USA in four. Australia in five. And Duncan

:00:32. > :00:36.Scott in lane one. Come on, Duncan. The pressure is off him, he looked a

:00:37. > :00:41.lot more can't. After the heats he qualified fast into the semis but

:00:42. > :00:51.looked nervous in the semifinals. There is a focused man. The

:00:52. > :00:55.Brazilian, dear -- Chierighini. He's trying to lengthen his arms to get

:00:56. > :00:59.them lose. We need absolute silence for this start, with had problems in

:01:00. > :01:04.the past. The defending Olympic champion. Goodness me! Great

:01:05. > :01:12.Britain's Duncan Scott will be at the top of the picture up in lane

:01:13. > :01:16.one. McEvoy in his Australian trials improved from a whole second from

:01:17. > :01:19.his semis to his finals. If he does that here I'm sure he's going to

:01:20. > :01:33.win. The world record could go. The final of the men's 100 metres

:01:34. > :01:39.free is our, the event every swimmer wants to win and an amazing start

:01:40. > :01:43.from Dressel from the USA -- freestyle. Condorelli is going well

:01:44. > :01:48.in the white hat in sex. Condorelli off like a rocket, head down, he

:01:49. > :01:53.hardly takes a breath and streaking ahead -- in six. What a first leg.

:01:54. > :01:59.Duncan Scott is on the far end in sixth or seventh. Nathan Adrian had

:02:00. > :02:03.a very good turn as well and Chalmers has got some work to do to

:02:04. > :02:06.beat him from Australia in five and macro one love average at the

:02:07. > :02:13.moment, still going well is Condorelli in six at Nathan Adrian

:02:14. > :02:18.is starting to tie up -- McEvoy. Nathan Adrian... It's going to be

:02:19. > :02:25.Chalmers, good heavens, it is! It is Chalmers. 47.58. Chalmers of

:02:26. > :02:30.Australia wins gold. What an amazing swim, the Australian wins the gold,

:02:31. > :02:34.the 18-year-old, the silver has gone to Timmers of Belgium. The bronze to

:02:35. > :02:38.the defending champion Nathan Adrian and I've got to tell you, Duncan

:02:39. > :02:45.Scott has got fifth. A brilliant fifth-place. 48.01. Exactly on his

:02:46. > :02:51.British record. Fifth in the world, Duncan Scott of Great Britain, well

:02:52. > :02:56.done. That was a big old race from Chalmers, wasn't it? Cameron McEvoy,

:02:57. > :03:01.22-year-old Australian, favourite for this and world number one coming

:03:02. > :03:08.into it. McAvoy down in seventh place, beaten by the 18-year-old. --

:03:09. > :03:11.McEvoy. That's a real surprise. Chalmers, yet another Australian

:03:12. > :03:19.sprint freestyle sensation. Here's the start. Condorelli... I have to

:03:20. > :03:25.say that was crazy pace, we have seen him do this so many times. We

:03:26. > :03:29.had done 35 eaters up until there. There he is, he might even hit the

:03:30. > :03:35.lane rope herewith his right arm. Nathan Adrian looked like he was

:03:36. > :03:41.going to come through. In the end, Chalmers, the 18-year-old, a stroke

:03:42. > :03:46.ahead and glided in. He won it by 22 1-hundredths, which in swimming is a

:03:47. > :03:55.country mile. I have to tell you, a bit of a surprise, a world junior

:03:56. > :04:00.record, 47.05, but his compatriot, McEvoy, 47.38, his teammate went

:04:01. > :04:06.47.0 at the Australian trials, half a second on the 100 free. I'm still

:04:07. > :04:11.blown away this is a world junior record, he's won the senior

:04:12. > :04:17.Olympics. The senior Olympics? The big boys, the proper one, a junior

:04:18. > :04:22.were record. Extraordinary. Well done, Duncan. Olympic final. McEvoy

:04:23. > :04:28.on the left, a very slight body. You wouldn't think the 18-year-old is

:04:29. > :04:32.the one on the right, would you? File Chalmers wins the men's 100m

:04:33. > :04:36.freestyle, the 18-year-old. Timmers from Belgium with the Silver, a

:04:37. > :04:42.massive shock. Four years after winning the gold it is bronze for

:04:43. > :04:44.Nathan Adrian. Duncan Scott fifth for Great Britain, brilliant he was

:04:45. > :04:52.even in there. Fantastic. Many congratulations, fantastic few

:04:53. > :04:55.days of swimming for you, equalled your best time, three wonderful

:04:56. > :05:00.times, fifth in the world. I'm delighted with that, I went in with

:05:01. > :05:06.nothing to lose and everything to gain. Happy to make the semi-final

:05:07. > :05:09.and then I just carried on. To be in the final was incredible. Delighted

:05:10. > :05:14.to come fifth and hopefully move on next year. Not finished because

:05:15. > :05:17.there is the medley relay which you will be anchoring and now you know

:05:18. > :05:23.you have the ability to hold them off? Yeah, with the likes of Adam

:05:24. > :05:26.Peaty and James Guy in there, it's an exciting team but I don't think

:05:27. > :05:31.we can get too far ahead of ourselves, the Americans will be

:05:32. > :05:36.strong, Aussies have several freestyle options so it will be a

:05:37. > :05:40.great race. How badly would you like an Olympic medal? To add to that

:05:41. > :05:46.silver... I would like to get another one. A collection? I'll see

:05:47. > :05:50.what I can do. Jimmy is looking to get another one, Adam Peaty is

:05:51. > :05:55.looking to get two with one gold already. I'm not sure we can get

:05:56. > :06:00.golds but we will have to see. You must be full of confidence, picking

:06:01. > :06:04.up that medal in the relay, that great swim today, knowing what Adam

:06:05. > :06:07.is capable of, it's very exciting. Is the last night, it will be very

:06:08. > :06:13.loud in here. Everyone is swimming with confidence. PTE is so far ahead

:06:14. > :06:17.of the rest of the field so that gives the rest of us so much

:06:18. > :06:21.confidence -- Adam Peaty. We have the best breast stroke are ever in

:06:22. > :06:27.our team so we are full of confidence, looking forward to

:06:28. > :06:33.continuing swimming. You're doing us proud. Well done. Cheers. STUDIO:

:06:34. > :06:38.From one exciting British prospect to another, Andrew, Adrian.

:06:39. > :06:43.COMMENTATOR: There's Chloe Tutton from Great Britain, second fastest

:06:44. > :06:50.in this burst semi-final of the women's 200m breastroke. She set the

:06:51. > :06:53.record for the British time in Glasgow earlier this year, did

:06:54. > :06:58.brilliant in the 100 breaststroke earlier this week. Ended up 13th at

:06:59. > :07:04.the Olympic Games. That by far her weakest event and this, the 200, I'm

:07:05. > :07:10.really excited about this. Me too, Andy. Richard record at the trials

:07:11. > :07:15.and three personal bests. She is inspired by David Davis getting the

:07:16. > :07:20.bronze medal at Athens in 2004 and she said as a child she was shooting

:07:21. > :07:24.for Tokyo 2020. She's got here for years early. She's in Rio and she

:07:25. > :07:32.has a brilliant chance of getting into the final. Personal-best in the

:07:33. > :07:33.100 as you said. If she can get out quickly, a fantastic chance of

:07:34. > :07:51.making the top eight. The first semi-final of the women's

:07:52. > :07:56.200 breaststroke and Great Britain's Chloe Tutton with the Red Hat in

:07:57. > :08:01.lane five. The break pink suit of Efimova. She's slammed the most

:08:02. > :08:06.bizarre heat I've ever seen, Efimova, and she's doing the same

:08:07. > :08:10.again. -- swam. Last at the 50 and the 100 I think and ended up getting

:08:11. > :08:16.second. Chloe Tutton is ignoring Efimova and she is going out very

:08:17. > :08:26.well. Using the speed of the 100th is when she set the British record.

:08:27. > :08:31.She was out in 56.88. 32.66. 32.55 was that? Right on it, in fact a bit

:08:32. > :08:42.ahead. That is good to see. Not being put off by what is happening

:08:43. > :08:47.in the lane next to her. Lane six, 1.11 and 1.12 for her splits

:08:48. > :08:55.earlier. Very good stroke rate. Chloe Tutton looking very good down

:08:56. > :09:01.this first 100. Brave but looks comfortable. First to turn from

:09:02. > :09:05.Great Britain, Chloe Tutton. A good six tenths of a second underneath

:09:06. > :09:10.her British record pace. She just has to make it through to the final

:09:11. > :09:13.and she has got a great second half, Chloe Tutton, starting to come in

:09:14. > :09:18.the pink suit is Efimova, the Russian, and she will come back very

:09:19. > :09:25.strongly indeed but at the moment it is tartan from Great Britain holding

:09:26. > :09:34.on well. In the Black hat in the centre Kaneto doing well. Kaneto,

:09:35. > :09:41.the world number one, coming into it. She is holding on, the first

:09:42. > :09:46.Japanese woman sub 02:20in history. Kaneto starting to extend herself.

:09:47. > :09:51.But we need to pick up her stroke rate to start to match her. Lane six

:09:52. > :09:58.coming through strongly, that rolling breaststroke. Smith of

:09:59. > :10:02.Canada swimming well as well. If she can get the touch for third at least

:10:03. > :10:06.she has a super chance of making the final. She is swimming well, I think

:10:07. > :10:12.she will make it anyway but this looks good. It looks like Kaneto

:10:13. > :10:18.will win it. Second was Efimova and third was Tutton. I think it is just

:10:19. > :10:22.outside of her British record by just three one hundredths of a

:10:23. > :10:27.second. A very, very good, solid swim and she swam it well. Attack

:10:28. > :10:34.it, clean water ahead. Really impressive from Tutton. Very

:10:35. > :10:39.impressive. As expected, the two world-class swimmers... The

:10:40. > :10:42.27-year-old Kaneto. 24-year-old Chloe needs a bit more experience I

:10:43. > :10:48.would think because she might need to adjust the first 100 slightly.

:10:49. > :10:52.The last 50 when she broke her British record was 37 and about 37

:10:53. > :10:57.seconds here is an quick enough to live with these guys. It's

:10:58. > :11:02.brilliant, but they are going to get down to 19, 20, 21. One more

:11:03. > :11:06.semi-final to go, let's see what happens. A very fast one as well,

:11:07. > :11:11.the second semi-final. Good stuff, though. I'm pretty sure that six

:11:12. > :11:18.from the second semi won't beat Chloe Tutton's time. Pretty sure but

:11:19. > :11:23.it is a faster semi-. Renshaw is in there for Great Britain, the second

:11:24. > :11:29.British swimmer. It would be good to get two in the final but the

:11:30. > :11:30.Japanese women are the threat. The world champion, Watanabe, is in the

:11:31. > :11:55.second. Cloe Tutton was number one. How

:11:56. > :12:04.difficult is it to put your Blicavs on and swim your own race? --

:12:05. > :12:08.blinkers. That is what you are trying to do everyday. If you know

:12:09. > :12:21.you are competitive, you'd know yourself and you pace yourself.

:12:22. > :12:25.Fortunately, she was next to Kaneto, she is the fastest swimmer in her

:12:26. > :12:35.time. She will make it through to the final, I think. Let us hear from

:12:36. > :12:38.Cloe Tutton now. Good swim. You only broke into the senior squad this

:12:39. > :12:45.year. You are holding your own. Thank you, I am a pleased with how I

:12:46. > :12:57.swam in this competition. You are not concerned about how Kaneto is

:12:58. > :13:03.swimming? I do is going to get on with my own routine and get on with

:13:04. > :13:12.it. Aims are pleased with the Marlborough strippers. You are doing

:13:13. > :13:24.great. It is nice to have many competitors. -- e-mail breaststroke.

:13:25. > :13:33.She has the Union Flag headband on. We love her. She is flying the flag

:13:34. > :13:37.in the best possible way, isn't she? We saw on the 100 metres, she had

:13:38. > :13:44.the best personal time. For her to get on to the personal record with

:13:45. > :13:55.the personal best, I would love to see her smash that time and get a

:13:56. > :14:02.medal. We love those stories. I am sure he is going to be very proud

:14:03. > :14:10.and loud indeed. She is a very exciting prospect. Andrew, Adrian,

:14:11. > :14:39.Renshaw is about to come out. The finals of the women's 200 metres

:14:40. > :14:48.breast red. -- breaststroke. Well, a very good first semi-final. Renshaw

:14:49. > :14:55.knows exactly what she is going to do. Certainly a third or fourth

:14:56. > :15:06.finish in this semi-final. Just a little better but dip

:15:07. > :15:16.underneath her personal times will be fantastic. If you have a look at

:15:17. > :15:22.Pederson in lane four, the world recordholder, if she can stay with

:15:23. > :15:42.her, that would be good. Lane six as a threat, I think. Lane eight, that

:15:43. > :15:59.Macca King is setting herself up. -- King. Semi-final number two. The

:16:00. > :16:05.women's 200 metre breaststroke. Going very quickly, as you said

:16:06. > :16:11.Adrian. Lily King of the USA is the recordholder. She did this this

:16:12. > :16:16.morning and she is not going quite as quickly. But the difference in

:16:17. > :16:27.technique. Lily King has got the 100 metre breast stroke sprint stroke.

:16:28. > :16:33.It is quite interesting, she has changed the pace in quite a bit,

:16:34. > :16:37.trying to get some early speed into her pace. She has always been strong

:16:38. > :16:42.in the last 200 metres. She is strong, she has always been good at

:16:43. > :16:55.this. Both of the British women are a bit quicker. Renshaw turned third

:16:56. > :17:07.position at the she is going to be second, yes she is, Molly Renshaw

:17:08. > :17:22.from Great Britain. They are starting to wind it up now. This is

:17:23. > :17:27.nice from Renshaw. Look at this, Renshaw has caught up. She is not

:17:28. > :17:41.leading Pederson effect at all. This is fantastic. She is two tenths

:17:42. > :17:47.ahead of world record pace at the moment. We did really well in the

:17:48. > :17:53.first semi-final. Molly Renshaw is going really well, very well in deed

:17:54. > :17:56.and she is just about in that position may be eight the moment.

:17:57. > :18:02.She is on the left-hand side, three from the left. Is she second? Is she

:18:03. > :18:12.third? She dismissed to make sure she is not forth. That would be

:18:13. > :18:15.great. She is looking very good. The Australian is looking very good.

:18:16. > :18:21.This is a new British record by one 100th of a second. Renshaw, in

:18:22. > :18:33.making the final, will join them in the final. You cannot ask for more,

:18:34. > :18:52.really. It has taken something up of her. We Renshaw and Molly Tutton. --

:18:53. > :19:11.Molly Renshaw and Cloe Tutton. As close as you like. I am surprised by

:19:12. > :19:34.Pedersen, actually. It speaks to the quality of Renshaw. A bit of a ...

:19:35. > :19:45.McKeown is Foster's, Molly Renshaw is second. A new world record for

:19:46. > :19:56.her. I think the first four will get through. Fabulous stuff. Two British

:19:57. > :19:57.women in the final, goodness me, it is stacked in the middle. Look

:19:58. > :20:15.outside cities. Very impressive from Renshaw and

:20:16. > :20:22.Tutton. You can see from the Web cam up there. You can dance, it is

:20:23. > :20:29.exciting, exciting new prospects in the breaststroke. It is going to be

:20:30. > :20:34.good tomorrow. They are in good positions. Molly looked extremely

:20:35. > :20:38.good and extremely controlled. Both of them did. In that sort of

:20:39. > :20:46.company, it is very difficult. There showed so much now. It was great.

:20:47. > :20:49.Let us hear from Molly. Many congratulations. A British record

:20:50. > :20:54.and you are going to be going into the final as the third fastest. I

:20:55. > :20:59.could not ask anything more than that. My training has been going

:21:00. > :21:05.well. It is nice to be able to make the big jumps now. You have been

:21:06. > :21:10.training with Mel. You have opportunities to take things from

:21:11. > :21:20.all of your creatures. I have been in contact with Ken but Mel has been

:21:21. > :21:26.great. -- coaches. It pushes women's breaststroke on. It has been a few

:21:27. > :21:36.gears since we have had women's breaststroke swimmers up at the top.

:21:37. > :21:41.Have you seen your boyfriend yet? I haven't seen him yet, I saw him in

:21:42. > :21:48.the crowd. I gave him a little wave. Good luck tomorrow, I'm sure you

:21:49. > :21:51.will do us proud. U2 are mischievous with a capital M. A new British

:21:52. > :22:03.record for Molly. Very impressive stuff. -- you do. Just as there was

:22:04. > :22:14.in the men's. Let us hope there are no fourth places tomorrow. You

:22:15. > :22:20.missed it, that was a Mexican wave. When you first heard Molly's named

:22:21. > :22:31.what did you say? I said it was a lovely name. You said you wanted to

:22:32. > :22:41.go and have an ice cream with her. Great, guys... We are going to talk

:22:42. > :22:45.about Michael Phelps. It is only a semi-final with all last night, it

:22:46. > :22:55.was so crazy in here when he came up. Listen to it now! I do not know

:22:56. > :23:00.who has walked out. Michael Phelps is about to come out. He has a lot

:23:01. > :23:10.of support and they love him. I must admit, we love Michael Phelps. The

:23:11. > :23:13.crowd just erupts. It will be tough for everybody to make the final but

:23:14. > :23:19.hopefully they can put on a good performance. As you can hear, the

:23:20. > :23:49.Brazilians are coming out for --. STUDIO: what an amazing reception it

:23:50. > :23:54.was for Rhodri -- Rodriguez. There is a great chance of having to

:23:55. > :24:00.Brazilians, both of whom will think they can get Brazil's first,

:24:01. > :24:04.possibly only medal at the Olympic Games in the swimming pool. They

:24:05. > :24:09.have waited a long time to get there. It is always good to see the

:24:10. > :24:17.host nation get a medal in the swimming. For me, this is the slower

:24:18. > :24:30.of the semifinals. There were two Brits in the first one. A few good

:24:31. > :24:48.Fleay swimmers in this one. Hagino in the third lane. -- fly swimmers.

:24:49. > :24:50.The Brazilian commentators had to step up. Please excuse the noise at

:24:51. > :25:13.the start. First semi-final of the men's 200

:25:14. > :25:20.metres individual medley. Chaplin is in three and he is going well but

:25:21. > :25:30.the fastest, the German. The crowd is going absolutely nuts. Goodness

:25:31. > :25:32.me. It is unbelievable. Its lack of football championship. It is a

:25:33. > :25:45.co-ordinated effort by the whole crowd. Look at this, Lane three. Now

:25:46. > :25:50.coming through on the back. This is a lead that he might not let go of.

:25:51. > :26:02.Rodriguez in five, he is still doubt. Hagino, beautiful. Hagino is

:26:03. > :26:10.in his own class in this field. Second is the Brazilian. What a fool

:26:11. > :26:15.-- what a wonderful turn from Wang from China. The Brazilian, is

:26:16. > :26:25.starting to move through at the moment. The crowd cheering every

:26:26. > :26:33.time he comes up. Hagino extending his lead. The German, just catching

:26:34. > :26:48.up on the breast stroke. The legal Hagino. Hagino is going to make

:26:49. > :26:52.sure. The Brazilian down in fourth. The Brazilian thought he was going

:26:53. > :27:05.to get a medal. This is nowhere near good enough. Don't forget, we have

:27:06. > :27:09.helps and Lochte in the second semi. Heintz of Germany is third and

:27:10. > :27:12.Rodriguez, he is going to have to wait nervously. I'm not sure it is

:27:13. > :27:19.going to be good enough. Two Brits in that second semi. Both of whom

:27:20. > :27:26.can do that time certainly. Wouldn't that be something? It looks like sub

:27:27. > :27:35.two minutes. That is unusual. 59 Lowe, 58 hi. Only three people from

:27:36. > :27:40.this can qualify. I always thought this would go a little bit quicker.

:27:41. > :27:46.Probably. Hagino doing enough. I think this is a really comfortable

:27:47. > :27:49.swim. The new he would leave the field. He had to do is a job. He

:27:50. > :28:01.didn't rely on anyone else to set the pace. A sloppy left hand on the

:28:02. > :28:06.front crawl. Interesting action. Look at the alignment. Everything is

:28:07. > :28:10.moving. The same direction to propel them forward. There is nothing going

:28:11. > :28:19.sideways on a tangent. All the energy, all his systems are taking

:28:20. > :28:32.on board. Hagino of Japan, very impressive. Wang second. Heintz

:28:33. > :28:34.bird. Rodrigues is go to have to wait. I'd be surprised if he makes

:28:35. > :28:42.it. We keep referencing the music and

:28:43. > :28:47.the dancing and how loud it is. This is not normally what happens at a

:28:48. > :28:50.swimming competition. The AMP -- the atmosphere is amazing. They are

:28:51. > :28:56.singing and shunting as they do at the football. Stop, watch the race

:28:57. > :29:03.and she afterwards used to live. It is such a nice atmosphere. The crowd

:29:04. > :29:07.have been brilliant. Michael Phelps is in the next one and the crowd is

:29:08. > :29:15.going to be allowed. He is not the only swimming superstar. We have

:29:16. > :29:21.Ryan Lochte. You could argue he is the second most successful Olympic

:29:22. > :29:28.swimmer after Michael Phelps. Here's another one of those like Cseh. 13,

:29:29. > :29:31.14, 15 world titles. When it comes to this race, it is kind of a

:29:32. > :29:40.showdown between these two. Ryan Lochte did not look that great in

:29:41. > :29:47.the four x 200 relay. Hagino is looking great. Pereira, the

:29:48. > :29:52.Brazilian who came fourth, he is known over here so not only have you

:29:53. > :29:55.got Phelps but with Pereira, it is going to be loud. Ryan locked in

:29:56. > :30:03.micro- Phelps are going to be talking to each other. -- Lochte.

:30:04. > :30:08.Lochte is always chills, likes to have a laugh. Phelps is more

:30:09. > :30:15.serious. We used to get very nervous. Me and Joe Jackson, we were

:30:16. > :30:18.terrified before the race. Different people like different ways and

:30:19. > :30:23.Lochte has always been that character.

:30:24. > :30:28.When you've got someone you know and you are used to, it keeps you

:30:29. > :30:39.relaxed. What will it be like for Dan Wallace and Lloyd. It will be

:30:40. > :30:46.nice for them to spur each other on. The crowd as well. Will they be

:30:47. > :30:54.intimidated? Dan Wallace, especially, he will love it. He is

:30:55. > :31:04.so used to it. He steps up at major meets. Resort the major

:31:05. > :31:07.championship. Hopefully he can. A little bit of showboating from our

:31:08. > :31:14.British boys. It doesn't even look like he is racing.

:31:15. > :31:20.There is nothing wrong with enjoying the occasion. We positively

:31:21. > :31:27.encourage it, don't we? You guys feel free to dance.

:31:28. > :31:37.Thank you, Helen. Nice moves from both guys. Dan Wallace and Ieuan

:31:38. > :31:42.Lloyd. They've got a very big second semi-final here. After an

:31:43. > :31:50.extraordinarily slow first one, if they do step up, they could make the

:31:51. > :31:59.final. Sixth and eighth fastest. Fujimori coming out for Japan. We

:32:00. > :32:07.expect some huge noise for the next man, Pereira, 29, from the sill. --

:32:08. > :32:13.from Brazil. He has the best chance of the two to make the final. They

:32:14. > :32:21.were cheering very loudly for the first Brazilian. I am sure they will

:32:22. > :32:27.stand up still for this gentleman. 21 Olympic gold medals. 25 in total.

:32:28. > :32:31.Two silver medals and two bronze medals. But he is not the defending

:32:32. > :32:37.Olympic champion for nothing. He is absolutely brilliant. World

:32:38. > :32:41.champion. Ryan Lochte. He is the world record holder. He is in lane

:32:42. > :32:47.number four. Head-to-head, Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte. A bit of a chat

:32:48. > :32:54.in the warmup room. Look at Phelps stretching on the block. Taking our

:32:55. > :33:01.time. Lloyd do the right of the picture. Already changed. Michael

:33:02. > :33:07.Phelps and Ryan Lochte, they will be the last to take their kit off, by

:33:08. > :33:12.the looks of things. Thiago Pereira just outdid them. Pereira was

:33:13. > :33:22.watching them very, very closely indeed. It is interesting, the mind

:33:23. > :33:27.games. Michael Phelps, his hair was not quite tucked in, I wonder if he

:33:28. > :33:34.noticed that. Even the great man himself cannot do his swimming

:33:35. > :33:41.perfectly. I will just nipped down and tuck it in for him. -- nipped

:33:42. > :33:54.down. They are giants of American zooming. The nominal swimmers. --

:33:55. > :33:58.phenomenal swimmers. The defending Olympic champion, three times in a

:33:59. > :34:14.row. Can he do it four times in a row? Dan Wallace and Ieuan Lloyd of

:34:15. > :34:17.Great Britain. The Brazilian, Pereira, he has a good chance at a

:34:18. > :34:22.medal tomorrow night. He has to make sure he gets through. He started

:34:23. > :34:35.well. Probably leading at the moment. He's got to get out there.

:34:36. > :34:40.The two Brits are down. A good start Dan Wallace and Ieuan Lloyd. This is

:34:41. > :34:46.going to be interesting. Pereira in first place. The crowd reacting to

:34:47. > :34:54.sing his name up there. Beating Mark -- Michael Phelps. Michael Phelps

:34:55. > :34:58.coming through in five. He's got to make more of an impression on this

:34:59. > :35:06.one. He doesn't look in shape, Lochte. Ieuan Lloyd, he had a great

:35:07. > :35:13.press/ this morning. It is fascinating because Lochte was world

:35:14. > :35:18.champion in the 200 backstroke. He is now in the centre of the two, the

:35:19. > :35:27.world record holder, Michael Phelps closer to us. The crowd are

:35:28. > :35:34.absolutely shunting. Pereira, the white hat, at the top. Look at this.

:35:35. > :35:39.Neck and neck. Lochte making a bit more of a headway in the

:35:40. > :35:45.breaststroke. Lochte back level with them. Phelps, Pereira, Lochte. The

:35:46. > :35:55.Brazilian crowd excited with this one. Great Britain's Dan Wallace is

:35:56. > :35:59.in fifth. He can bring it home, he is really storming on this freestyle

:36:00. > :36:03.leg. Phelps is going to win it but one lane from the bottom, Dan

:36:04. > :36:10.Wallace, he is doing very well indeed. A very good time for Michael

:36:11. > :36:14.Phelps. Phelps, first, Lochte, second, Pereira, third. Dan Wallace

:36:15. > :36:18.is going to be in the final. Well done. Ieuan Lloyd was sixth, I don't

:36:19. > :36:23.think he is going to make it through. It is going to be tight.

:36:24. > :36:31.Wallace did very well to make it. A bit of a fist pump from the two

:36:32. > :36:42.giants of American swimming. Phelps, one. Lochte, two. Lochte's only

:36:43. > :36:45.individual race, and Phelps, head-to-head with Hagino. Pereira,

:36:46. > :36:52.the crowd will give him an extra half second, I am sure. Here we are

:36:53. > :36:59.watching the replay of the start. Above the monitor. I am seeing tens

:37:00. > :37:03.of Brazilian people in the crowd leaving. We have a relay left. They

:37:04. > :37:11.have come to see what they wanted to see and they are all off. Pereira

:37:12. > :37:20.still there. Lochte didn't make an impact in the breaststroke. There he

:37:21. > :37:26.is, Matthew McConaughey, Hollywood star come to watch Michael Phelps,

:37:27. > :37:30.the star of this mingle. Maybe he can star in a film of his life.

:37:31. > :37:36.There is bound to be a Hollywood film about the guy. 25 Olympic

:37:37. > :37:47.medals, 21 of them girls. There is Phelps on the right, and Lochte.

:37:48. > :38:04.Lloyd swum well. And there is the big man. Wallace, fourth. 1:50

:38:05. > :38:11.seven. -- 1:57. Think that's right. Dan Wallace has made it in. Fifth

:38:12. > :38:21.fastest. Yes, he is. Look at that. Phelps, one. Lochte, two. Hagino,

:38:22. > :38:26.fourth. Dan Wallace, super stuff from him.

:38:27. > :38:33.What a swim. Dan Wallace, he is here is a wild card. You could say he had

:38:34. > :38:37.more to prove that other people. He has proved it. There has been so

:38:38. > :38:42.much talk of Dan at the trials and the Europeans. Give credit to him.

:38:43. > :38:49.He steps up the big meetings. That is why was chosen. Just be his own

:38:50. > :38:53.confidence. He is quite sure man. He's quite that sort of character.

:38:54. > :39:09.It meant to be offensive to him that he is. He likes a bit of arrogance

:39:10. > :39:15.like the Americans do and it the. Make he is not going to be scared.

:39:16. > :39:19.Dan, a great swim. Did you think this was going to happen a couple of

:39:20. > :39:26.months ago? Given the nod. I didn't think this was possible. --

:39:27. > :39:30.definitely not. It's really nice to be able to step up where it counts.

:39:31. > :39:36.What have you done in that period of time to get it so right? Just

:39:37. > :39:42.enjoying it again, figuring out what I want to do with swimming, where I

:39:43. > :39:48.want to take it. I didn't want it to end there. Last night, really, we

:39:49. > :39:52.made it clear that we want to do it as long as we can. You were here at

:39:53. > :39:56.the Olympic Games four years ago, is missing out on that final. How was

:39:57. > :40:02.the team different? It feels very different. Happy, great morale.

:40:03. > :40:08.Great success from the boys last night in the relay. It really gives

:40:09. > :40:10.you a good buzz. This season 's best this year again and I'm improving, I

:40:11. > :40:42.am really happy. See you tomorrow. Jacquard Adam Peaty's Twitter. He

:40:43. > :40:54.does not know what we mean. He is a serious worm. -- check out. Tell us

:40:55. > :41:01.about this relationship. They were teammates, tomorrow is going to be a

:41:02. > :41:06.different story. You can be friends but when you go back on the block,

:41:07. > :41:11.the bottomline is to forget everything else, it is about the

:41:12. > :41:15.race and everything that is going to happen and you want to beat the

:41:16. > :41:37.other person. Lock the has won the world champion. -- Lochte. Hagino is

:41:38. > :41:44.in bed, the crowd is for him. From where he was four months ago and

:41:45. > :41:48.will where he is now, he has started loving this board again. If you love

:41:49. > :41:55.something, do not going to get the best out of yourself. That is the

:41:56. > :42:01.best thing to say. It is great for Dan. You have got to love what you

:42:02. > :42:09.do, waking up of IBM and wiping the eyes of the your windscreen. That is

:42:10. > :42:18.what it is about. -- waking up at five a.m.. I think that Lochte is a

:42:19. > :42:29.bit silly. He has dyed his hair. It looks silly. STUDIO: if you love

:42:30. > :42:35.your book all then stay with us. If you have just woken up, Brazil have

:42:36. > :42:37.to beat Denmark to stay in contention. We will show you the

:42:38. > :43:10.best so far. Sam -- Sam gets a goal, it is

:43:11. > :43:41.Gabrielle. Would a superb finish from Santos. Lovely reception of the

:43:42. > :43:53.ball. 2- Cirrus! -- 2-0! That finished got across it deserved.

:43:54. > :44:02.This game is opening up for Brazil in the second half. The shot is now

:44:03. > :44:27.Ford name. Not too far away. -- Neymar. It was flat-footed.

:44:28. > :45:02.Delightful! Simply delightful look at this pass from name. Santos with

:45:03. > :45:16.a comeback. Here comes a shot from Gabriel! The second goal from

:45:17. > :45:17.Gabriel Barbosa, it took a deflection but it will certainly

:45:18. > :45:31.count in his favour. STUDIO: Neymar has been absolutely

:45:32. > :45:40.fantastic for Brazil this evening. Interestingly, Gabriel Barbosa, who

:45:41. > :45:44.has got two goals, these are the closing stages. An interesting

:45:45. > :45:50.report coming through that Lester City has made enquiries about

:45:51. > :45:58.signing Gabriel Barbosa although some Italian teams are also

:45:59. > :46:18.preparing bids. Pele tweeted earlier this evening, " come on Brazil! "

:46:19. > :46:22.They play in the quarter-finals. The runner-up 's. Let us go back to the

:46:23. > :46:39.swimming. That is what we wanted Adam Peaty to

:46:40. > :46:50.do, isn't it? Next up we have got the women's four times 200 metre

:46:51. > :46:58.relay. This is the dream team for the Americans. Obviously, Katie

:46:59. > :47:05.Ledecky, all eyes are on her. She is going to read numerous amount of

:47:06. > :47:10.medals. Franklin is not going to go out in this relay. In London, she

:47:11. > :47:14.stepped onto the stage and announced herself. She bought hard get here

:47:15. > :47:20.and she said she was trying to re-establish herself. She was a

:47:21. > :47:29.little bit out of sorts. She qualified by she has been here, she

:47:30. > :47:37.has been one of this best swimmers in the world but she is in a lull. I

:47:38. > :47:43.don't know if she has had any injury problems. I wonder if it is because

:47:44. > :47:52.she was in university. We have to remember that people go through

:47:53. > :47:55.cycles. It takes its toll. It is quite interesting here because in

:47:56. > :47:58.the last few days we have seen some of the favourites, some of the

:47:59. > :48:03.defending champions fall away and not do what we expected them to do.

:48:04. > :48:07.This happens in every Olympic Games. There are shocks and surprises that

:48:08. > :48:11.shoppers all. There are ones that are the champions don't quite make

:48:12. > :48:16.it and then you have Katie Ledecky and Michael Phelps. This is what

:48:17. > :48:21.makes the sport so interesting. This is always a good relay. Relay the

:48:22. > :48:25.always fantastic. Unfortunately, we do not have the British team in

:48:26. > :48:31.this. The girls are not as good as the boys in the relay from GB at the

:48:32. > :48:38.moment. It would be good to see some women come through to make the

:48:39. > :48:42.relays again. The women from the butterfly still making their way a

:48:43. > :48:53.round the ball. Cost of mind back to that moment. Can you cast your mind

:48:54. > :48:57.back to that moment? It was something that was so overwhelming.

:48:58. > :49:03.Especially in London, having 17,000 people chanting my name, I could not

:49:04. > :49:07.stop crying. It is an amount of relief as well as joy and everything

:49:08. > :49:12.else because all the hard work has been worth it. We train for four

:49:13. > :49:19.years. It is not two weeks in the buildup, it is a lot of hard work.

:49:20. > :49:29.You actually enjoy the racing part? I loved it. But I didn't win it.

:49:30. > :49:39.(LAUGHS). He very nearly did. You won enough. For me as well, I only

:49:40. > :49:45.had to do on Lang and I knew that it was not going to hurt me. Becky was

:49:46. > :49:51.going to have to take herself through a lot of pain. I was one of

:49:52. > :49:55.those people waking you I was exhausted at the end. I could not

:49:56. > :50:00.celebrate, I was pushing myself too far. But I love the training and I

:50:01. > :50:04.love that environment and I got too nervous. I didn't like the process,

:50:05. > :50:08.feeling sick will be time with worry and going through whole process. But

:50:09. > :50:15.I just happened to be good at it the right the training. Five Olympics.

:50:16. > :50:29.Did you ever get ward of this atmosphere? -- bored. While it might

:50:30. > :50:34.sound stupid but dark and dingy mornings training in a pool in the

:50:35. > :50:38.middle of nowhere, not on seeing you and thinking about this as we did

:50:39. > :50:41.get to show yourself. All of that training and this is where you get

:50:42. > :50:48.to be after all of those cold, dark mornings. You have such are long

:50:49. > :50:54.career and you always speaks openly about your team and you like to say

:50:55. > :51:09.hello to everybody. I was around for a long time. The British team at in

:51:10. > :51:18.fantastic spirits. You mentioned earlier with the boys blipping the

:51:19. > :51:23.bottles. This is the video. For that is what you do in the village. You

:51:24. > :51:29.create fun games like that. The girls were talking about playing

:51:30. > :51:39.Mario kart. It is fun and it brings you together as a team. I wonder if

:51:40. > :51:43.that will be a consolation. I did not mean that overall. It is one of

:51:44. > :51:47.those things where he is fun and for the character on the team. He is a

:51:48. > :51:52.great person to have on the team, he makes light of everything, he is a

:51:53. > :51:59.prankster and he is someone that can make you laugh. All three of us need

:52:00. > :52:08.a rewind button. I need a cappuccino. You certainly don't need

:52:09. > :52:16.any more sugar. The winners really is next. Is the same record that the

:52:17. > :52:24.man-made going to happen tonight? I do not think so. I think they will

:52:25. > :52:34.be at heads. Canada have been surprising for this really. We have

:52:35. > :52:47.got the trainees in lane three. -- Chinese.

:52:48. > :53:04.You join us with the Russian Federation being introduced to the

:53:05. > :53:09.crowd. They are before fast as qualifiers. They will be next to

:53:10. > :53:16.Australia. Russia in six in Australia in five. He is trainer in

:53:17. > :53:22.three. The thing about the Chinese team, the leader got this in the

:53:23. > :53:36.individual final. The fastest woman is going to take the team out. I can

:53:37. > :53:42.tell you who has been dropped is Missy Franklin for the United States

:53:43. > :53:46.team. Missy Franklin slammed the individual 200 metres freestyle. She

:53:47. > :53:55.is one of the top two Americans who slammed this morning and has not

:53:56. > :54:02.made the top four. She got the nod. Did not swim the race at the trials.

:54:03. > :54:13.The coaches are using their discretion. Maybe franklin is not

:54:14. > :54:25.the best shot of winning a medal. This is Alison Schmidt, who was two

:54:26. > :54:32.seconds faster this morning. I think the American team a point to storm

:54:33. > :54:38.this one. One of the challenges for the other teams, who are looking for

:54:39. > :54:48.minor medals, is if you get in the wash of the Americans when they dive

:54:49. > :54:54.in, you can get splashed by the waves. It could really knock you.

:54:55. > :55:01.The final women's four x 200 metres relay. In USA have been let out by

:55:02. > :55:07.the Olympic champion from London 2012, that is Alison Schmidt. She is

:55:08. > :55:22.the blackcap in the centre. Fairly comfortable. Strong down the put as

:55:23. > :55:32.well. -- bottom. This is the split for the relay. Coleman is nearest to

:55:33. > :56:02.us. She is dropped away in third place. -- tucked. It is Coleman in

:56:03. > :56:08.first. This is very good lead. Alison Schmidt, the champion from

:56:09. > :56:24.London 2012, the blackcap in the centre. She is starting to move.

:56:25. > :56:30.Chen is the fastest of the Chinese swimmers. She is hoping to get a

:56:31. > :56:42.monster. She is doing just that. -- amongst it. It is these three

:56:43. > :56:53.countries, America, China and Sweden. Very close indeed. Sweden

:56:54. > :56:57.was first, USA second and Shen of China. The Chinese went in third but

:56:58. > :57:07.the takeover was very fast indeed. Hopefully it was a safe one. She

:57:08. > :57:10.took about half a metre. Shen was also a second slower in her

:57:11. > :57:28.individual. It is not make it would make a difference. -- it is not like

:57:29. > :57:33.it would make a difference. Smith, from this morning, she was one of

:57:34. > :57:38.the trades. Look at the long arm stroke, longer arms from Smith. Not

:57:39. > :57:50.making much of a dent on the Chinese swimmer. Not a moment. She has got

:57:51. > :57:59.the strength like a 400 metre stroker. China is leading. The

:58:00. > :58:04.yellow hat of McKeon from Australia. She was the bronze medallist in the

:58:05. > :58:10.individual 200 metre. Australia need a big lead here because their

:58:11. > :58:12.fastest swimmers are in now. It is interesting to do this, from

:58:13. > :58:17.Australia. The tactics are really interesting. When they decide to put

:58:18. > :58:25.their fastest swimmers in the beginning or whether to bury them in

:58:26. > :58:31.the middle. The Swedish team are still in it, at the bottom. They are

:58:32. > :58:44.at the far right of the picture. Tell you who else has come into the

:58:45. > :58:47.picture, that is Team Canada. Australia is number one. Your season

:58:48. > :58:59.of the two. China is just about in third position. -- USA is true. The

:59:00. > :59:04.Canadians have come back strongly. Australia is pushing at the

:59:05. > :59:10.Americans all the way. A split for the 16-year-old Canadian. That is

:59:11. > :59:19.very good indeed. Australia is number one, USA is me too. Australia

:59:20. > :59:31.has used their ace already and the last swimmer for the USA is Katie

:59:32. > :59:37.Ledecky. Fascinating tactics for the Australians. Their bronze medallist

:59:38. > :59:41.for the individual went in second and their fifth brumby individual

:59:42. > :59:51.went in third. They have put their big swimmers in the middle legs. The

:59:52. > :59:56.17-year-old is going to have an awesome job to do against Katie

:59:57. > :00:06.Ledecky. It is all about these two countries now. The Chinese are still

:00:07. > :00:14.in it. Down the bottom is Sweden. I am not sure whether the bronze is

:00:15. > :00:23.going to go here. The tactics, this is really fascinating. The Americans

:00:24. > :00:29.are holding on very well and they have got their ace at the very end,

:00:30. > :00:33.they have got Katie Ledecky, I'm sure she will win gold in the 800

:00:34. > :00:40.metre freestyle. She has got a little bit of work to do there is

:00:41. > :00:47.only one metre, 1.5 metres to go. I am not sure there will be enough

:00:48. > :00:52.time. Australia are leading. The USA are in second. Canada are in third

:00:53. > :00:57.position. This is very good from the Canadians. They are chasing the

:00:58. > :01:01.Americans. The Australians have done a very good job. They are putting

:01:02. > :01:06.themselves in a great position. Katie Ledecky would be thinking that

:01:07. > :01:22.she should win it. She has pretty much caught up by now. A brilliant

:01:23. > :01:48.swim by the Canadians. The Canadians are going to sneak in. Penny or

:01:49. > :01:53.Oleksiak, she is making up time. She is lane number seven, she is chasing

:01:54. > :01:58.the Australians and I would not be surprised if she catches up to be

:01:59. > :02:18.Australians. They going to have to work very hard. I am not sure if

:02:19. > :02:27.Levicki can get down on that. -- Katie Ledecky. I think Australia

:02:28. > :02:36.will hang on. This will be the third Olympic medal for Katie Ledecky.

:02:37. > :02:45.Team USA win gold in the women's four x two relay. They harm on

:02:46. > :02:49.really well. You can hear the screams. A brilliant swim from

:02:50. > :02:56.Australia. They got the silver. Canada get a bronze from lane seven.

:02:57. > :03:06.Order swim from them. Two medals for Canada in the relays. Schmidt on the

:03:07. > :03:15.left. Look at that! Leah Smith on the right. Katie Ledecky has got got

:03:16. > :03:18.out. Olympic gold. It did not pan out how I thought it was going to

:03:19. > :03:23.pan out. The results are how I expected them. The Americans have

:03:24. > :03:30.taken a second off the record. Not quite able to get the world record

:03:31. > :03:33.but it was a very good swim. The Swedish women are very happy with

:03:34. > :03:49.their time. They are the fastest European team. I think that is a

:03:50. > :03:54.European record, actually. So the tactics, very confusing for us Peer.

:03:55. > :04:09.But it worked for Australia, didn't it? -- up here. Absolutely. And the

:04:10. > :04:17.Tamsin Cook, the fourth swimmer for the Australian team, she did very

:04:18. > :04:27.well under pressure. The Australians in the first position at that point.

:04:28. > :04:35.(LAUGHS). We have got one smiling, on screaming, on jumping. And one in

:04:36. > :04:41.the water winning her third Olympic medal. Katie Ledecky, are you going

:04:42. > :04:47.to bet against her in the 800 metre freestyle? I would not bet against

:04:48. > :04:56.her. The house always win. I would not bet against her if I was betting

:04:57. > :05:05.chocolate cookies. I cannot see beyond Katie Ledecky. Team USA

:05:06. > :05:11.winning the women's freestyle relay. They deliberately winning her third

:05:12. > :05:19.gold medal. Australia have the silver and Canada have the bronze.

:05:20. > :05:33.Another medal for the Americans. The second! They got closer than I

:05:34. > :05:38.thought they would. That was him hitting his rewind button. You guys,

:05:39. > :05:45.Gare du Nord agree with me but I thought it was disappointing that

:05:46. > :05:52.Schmidt was not out in her American colours. It is about personal

:05:53. > :06:01.preference and your sponsorship. Some people wear breathers and some

:06:02. > :06:12.people wear beginners. Different seats look good on different body

:06:13. > :06:21.shapes. -- suits. It is like an athlete on the tracks, it is about

:06:22. > :06:43.technical equipment. Some of the athletes are very superstitious

:06:44. > :06:53.about there kits. -- and their kits. I do not think so. All of the

:06:54. > :06:58.athletes can get replacement kits. A mixed bag for the slimming. That

:06:59. > :07:07.wraps as for night. Duncan Scott missed out on a medal. Molly Renshaw

:07:08. > :07:13.is through the camera night. The athletes with us into a frenzy is.

:07:14. > :07:18.Some others more than others, actually. That is because somebody

:07:19. > :07:27.told me that I looked like a penguin! What is with your lips? I

:07:28. > :07:38.don't know. (LAUGHS). I need some sleep. Jason, it is a little chaotic

:07:39. > :07:44.in here. Interpret it as you will. STUDIO: Whatley damps. Thank you,

:07:45. > :08:03.Rebecca. Let us remind you of all the headlines at the Rio games. --

:08:04. > :08:15.what a dogs. -- dance. Making a splash, Joe Clarke, he produced a

:08:16. > :08:20.stunning final in the canoes. Max Whitlock on Team GB's all-round

:08:21. > :08:39.gymnastics final, taking bronze with some breathtaking routines. Chris

:08:40. > :08:52.Froome on bronze in the time trial. Sally Conway stunned the champion on

:08:53. > :09:03.her way to winning the bronze. And Britain's Stephen Scott was on

:09:04. > :09:15.target in the double trap. So let us talk a look at the medal table. 20

:09:16. > :09:22.gold was won on day five. Christian Armstrong is one of the big winners

:09:23. > :09:27.today. What a day for Great Britain. Two more gold medals. Great Britain

:09:28. > :09:38.is night on the medal table. Let us take a look at D6, what is coming

:09:39. > :09:46.up. -- day six. Granger goes for her fifth Olympic medal. We are back at

:09:47. > :09:55.the Olympic Equestrian Centre. We did not have much luck India venting

:09:56. > :10:03.but our hopes high for the dressage. -- in the event. We will get a first

:10:04. > :10:12.look at the velodrome at these Olympics at around eight o'clock.

:10:13. > :10:19.Bad as it! That was day five at the Rio Olympic Games, the day that the

:10:20. > :10:29.Rajesh hit the games for six. -- that is it.

:10:30. > :10:41.Joe Clarke of Great Britain, the Olympic champion! Bronze for Chris

:10:42. > :10:53.Froome! Bronze medal for Conway a she fully deserved that! That is it,

:10:54. > :11:17.Great Britain, into the semifinals. It is golden for Jack and Chris!

:11:18. > :11:21.And enjoy every summer moment, with the BBC.
