:00:00. > :00:00.picture. That trivialises the event. There you go, Usain Bolt, he has

:00:00. > :00:17.200m race, you and me, who wins that? Before you tell me who wins

:00:18. > :00:24.that, what is the time? I think it is going to be quick, me and you at

:00:25. > :00:31.our best, it would definitely be, like, 19.1, maybe. Speaker but you

:00:32. > :00:39.are going to win. Because that is act the what you do. That is exactly

:00:40. > :00:44.what you do. Earlier this year, you talked about going sub 19, which of

:00:45. > :00:52.course got my attention. Where are you now with regards to that? I

:00:53. > :00:58.think it is going to be harder now because of the setbacks I have had.

:00:59. > :01:03.You never know what is going to happen, I think sub 19 is going to

:01:04. > :01:06.be really tricky. What about 100m question mark any time between now

:01:07. > :01:10.and the end of your career that you might break the world record again?

:01:11. > :01:14.I really don't stress that much over the 100m, I think it is more for the

:01:15. > :01:19.people. People love seeing the 100m, the fastest men in the world

:01:20. > :01:29.showdown, but for me, the 200 means a lot more. I love the 100m but for

:01:30. > :01:32.me, it is all about running. I was nervous before every single race, I

:01:33. > :01:36.wanted to be nervous. What we see with you out on the track prior to

:01:37. > :01:40.the race is that what you do, or did that start as a tactic for you to

:01:41. > :01:44.not think about the race so much and not get so nervous about the race?

:01:45. > :01:48.Initially, it was just my personality coming out but in the

:01:49. > :01:51.end, it worked out best for me, I am not thinking about the race, I am

:01:52. > :01:56.having fun with the camera, the crowd and everyone else until the

:01:57. > :01:59.start that says "On your marks" and it gives you less time to think

:02:00. > :02:06.about it and you have to go and execute. 400m, we are not going to

:02:07. > :02:11.see you? No, it is too late. I will leave it to those guys. People don't

:02:12. > :02:16.understand, I would love to have seen that, if it were me, I would

:02:17. > :02:25.have done it, 100, 200 and 400 world record, but we are not going to see

:02:26. > :02:33.it? All right. Thanks, man. For 40 2pm your time is when Usain

:02:34. > :02:37.Bolt will finally take to the track -- 4:42pm. There has been a lot of

:02:38. > :02:40.waiting and it will finally end today. A lot of anticipation in this

:02:41. > :02:45.building behind me, the Tennis Centre, and taking to the stage will

:02:46. > :02:48.be Great Britain's Andy Murray and the stats really add up when it

:02:49. > :02:54.comes to the British number one. He ended the 78 year wait for a win at

:02:55. > :02:58.Wimbledon and he doubled it up this summer, 2012 US open champion, 2012

:02:59. > :03:05.Olympic champion. He was instrumental as the Davis cup was

:03:06. > :03:08.won by Great Britain for the first time in many years, sports

:03:09. > :03:15.personality of the year. He can take the pressure and he is ready to take

:03:16. > :03:21.the pressure into the ring tonight. It is a golden triumph for Andy

:03:22. > :03:24.Murray! For you personally, the Olympics is such an important part

:03:25. > :03:27.of your story, winning the gold medal said Europe to go on and

:03:28. > :03:34.achieve some great things in the sport. And also, Beijing as well was

:03:35. > :03:38.actually huge for me as well. I had an amazing experience there at my

:03:39. > :03:42.first Olympics but I learned so much from losing in the first round. That

:03:43. > :03:47.hurt me a lot, I was absolutely gutted and I had to wait for years

:03:48. > :03:53.to get another chance. I lost in the Wimbledon final in 2012 -- had to

:03:54. > :04:01.wait four years. I am going to try this and it is not

:04:02. > :04:03.going to be easy... APPLAUSE.

:04:04. > :04:08.I said to myself after that, I may never win a Grand Slam. I had lost

:04:09. > :04:12.in four finals, I was working as hard as I could work and was just

:04:13. > :04:16.getting close and it was never quite enough, so I didn't know if I was

:04:17. > :04:20.ever going to win one and I think actually, when I accepted that, that

:04:21. > :04:24.helped me. In terms of the tears after that match, I was very

:04:25. > :04:29.emotional, clearly, but that happens quite a lot it is just that you are

:04:30. > :04:33.normally doing it in the locker room, it doesn't happen, obviously,

:04:34. > :04:38.when you have to speak. You can blame Sue Barker, if you like. The

:04:39. > :04:41.Olympics were starting three weeks later and it would have been easy

:04:42. > :04:46.for me to be down but I remembered what happened in Beijing and I got

:04:47. > :04:50.back on the practice court after the Wimbledon final and said, I want to

:04:51. > :04:54.win this event, it is the biggest part of the great sporting

:04:55. > :04:57.competition in the world by far. I have played on Wimbledon Centre

:04:58. > :05:00.court made times but the crowd that they was totally different.

:05:01. > :05:05.Obviously, Roger Federer was extremely popular at Wimbledon and

:05:06. > :05:10.the crowd was amazing and gave me a huge, huge lift that day. I don't

:05:11. > :05:15.know if there is anything that could ever top that, having competed and

:05:16. > :05:19.won the gold medal at the home Olympics. But getting to carry the

:05:20. > :05:23.flag for the country here comes pretty close. What have you made of

:05:24. > :05:28.the Brazilian experience so far, you have been here a few days now? I

:05:29. > :05:31.have enjoyed it. The tennis venue is great and the Olympic Village is

:05:32. > :05:37.great. Sharing a room with my brother, which I haven't done for

:05:38. > :05:42.about 15 years. Is it bunk beds? Just two single beds. That is good

:05:43. > :05:46.as well, totally different to what we are used to, tennis players are

:05:47. > :05:49.pretty selfish, doing stuff on our own but here, you are part of

:05:50. > :05:54.something much bigger, part of the British team and, you know, it is

:05:55. > :05:57.nice, I enjoy that. We have got a little bikes outside the thing, we

:05:58. > :06:01.have been cycling around with each other, racing around the village,

:06:02. > :06:06.seeing who can do the best skids and stuff. It is just nice. Some of the

:06:07. > :06:11.big boys are not here but there is enough to keep the tennis fans here

:06:12. > :06:14.entertained. Yes, it is unfortunate that Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka

:06:15. > :06:18.were both injured. If those two were both here, all of the players who

:06:19. > :06:22.have won Grand Slams in the last ten years would be complete grid

:06:23. > :06:26.competing here but a lot of the top players are here -- would be

:06:27. > :06:31.competing here. I will try my best to have a good run. Dan Walker

:06:32. > :06:37.talking to the Team GB flag bearer. He said that was the proudest night

:06:38. > :06:43.in his career and has been flying the flag incredibly for Great

:06:44. > :06:49.Britain in the men's competition. Now only Japan's K Nishikora stands

:06:50. > :06:54.in a way of him and the men's singles Olympic final. And a few

:06:55. > :06:56.moments ago, Andy Murray took to the stage, have listened...

:06:57. > :07:03.CHEERING . And nice ripple of applause for

:07:04. > :07:11.the Great Britain number one. Looking to retain his Olympic title.

:07:12. > :07:20.They are ridden to the arena, it is Andy Murray against Nishikora for

:07:21. > :07:26.the Olympic semifinal. Carlos Ramos the man inshore Macca

:07:27. > :07:34.the late charge, Andy Murray against Nishikora, the number four seed from

:07:35. > :07:37.Japan. It is a spares crowd at the moment, they are still continuing to

:07:38. > :07:43.come in but it is significant that there are only two or 3,000 people

:07:44. > :07:53.in this massive 10,000 seater arena. They create a lot of atmosphere.

:07:54. > :08:02.Head-to-head between the two of them is 6-1 in Murray's favour. The most

:08:03. > :08:05.significant match came this year in Birmingham in the Davis cup. Murray

:08:06. > :08:13.won it but it was a titanic battle, he finally came through 6-3 in the

:08:14. > :08:21.fifth. Other than that, he has taken care pretty easily K Nishikora. The

:08:22. > :08:41.match before that, add doors in Canada -- Nishikora. The early wind

:08:42. > :08:45.that Nishikora has had was back in 2014 -- Nishikori. Andy Murray is

:08:46. > :08:51.two matches away from a third Olympic medal. In 2012, he won the

:08:52. > :08:57.singles, beating Federer in the final and here, Laura Robson got to

:08:58. > :09:05.the final of the Mixed Doubles. Murray, of course, with a fantastic

:09:06. > :09:09.record in 2016. He has won in Rome, he won the Queen's for the first

:09:10. > :09:16.time and he won at Wimbledon. Nishikora, it started a little bit.

:09:17. > :09:23.Quarters in the slams. -- Nishikori. Round of 16 at Wimbledon. But he won

:09:24. > :09:32.the title in Memphis and he has been in pretty good form. Andy Murray

:09:33. > :09:36.beat Steve Johnson in the tie-break at the end of the third set and beef

:09:37. > :09:45.that the rates before that, against Fabio Fognini, he lost eight Games

:09:46. > :09:56.in a row -- and before that. Nishikori beat Gael Monfils, that

:09:57. > :09:59.was even tougher, 7-6, 4-6, 7-6. He has had an easier route through

:10:00. > :10:04.apart from that. Murray's has turned out to be more difficult. He won

:10:05. > :10:12.against Victor Troicki of Serbia very comfortably and breezed

:10:13. > :10:16.through. Then the troubles started coming. Fabio Fognini, where he

:10:17. > :10:22.really did look up against it, and Steve Johnston, who at one stage was

:10:23. > :10:28.4-3 and serving in the third set but Murray clawed it out. Played really

:10:29. > :10:32.well in the first two matches but didn't play that well against Fabio

:10:33. > :10:38.Fognini, and didn't really play that well against Johnson, but he drew on

:10:39. > :10:45.all of his experience and all of his intensity and he found a way

:10:46. > :10:50.through. Both of them in their third Olympics. Murray, of course, lost in

:10:51. > :10:59.the first round in Beijing. A winner in 2012. Nishikori losing in the

:11:00. > :11:08.first round in Beijing and just played doubles in 2012. The Japanese

:11:09. > :11:13.went out to Federer and Wawrinka. So it is beginning to fill up, two

:11:14. > :11:21.semifinals of the singles on this court and then the women's final,

:11:22. > :11:29.Puig bidding to become the first Puerto Rican ever to win a medal,

:11:30. > :11:36.against Angie Kerber. Nishikori won the toss of the coin and has put

:11:37. > :11:37.Murray in to serve first. UMPIRE: Andy Murray to serve, first

:11:38. > :12:13.set. Please be seated. Murray served really well in the

:12:14. > :12:18.first two rounds, slightly less well against Fognini and against Johnson.

:12:19. > :12:33.But overall, he will be happy with the way the serve is going.

:12:34. > :13:21.Well, that's an inspiring start for Murray. Serve clicking into gear

:13:22. > :13:34.straightaway. It is a warm day. At the moment,

:13:35. > :13:39.it's only 19 degrees. It feels warmer than that, I have to say, but

:13:40. > :13:50.that is the official readout. It is reckoned to go pretty soon up to 24.

:13:51. > :13:53.It is humid, though, 71 degrees. A vivid contrast to yesterday, it

:13:54. > :13:59.rained for much of the morning. Sunshine all the way. It is reckoned

:14:00. > :14:21.to get a lot hotter in the next two days. Maybe up to 28 for the final

:14:22. > :14:27.The question is, does Nishikori believe he has the ammunition to

:14:28. > :14:31.beat Murray? He came so close in Birmingham in that Davis Cup tie.

:14:32. > :14:40.Since then, it seems that Murray has gone up another gear. Is that too

:14:41. > :15:08.far for Nishikori to reach? A lot of good judges think so.

:15:09. > :15:12.Nishikori was a runner-up in the US Open in 2014. The first Asian man to

:15:13. > :15:42.reach a Grand Slam final. His calling card is that he is

:15:43. > :16:15.lightning quick. Incredible speed. Andy Murray

:16:16. > :16:27.keeping on top of the point. Less wind today. It is just a light

:16:28. > :17:07.breeze. Interesting that Andy Murray missed

:17:08. > :17:53.that, by his own standard he was a bit slow stepping out.

:17:54. > :18:00.There is going to be a number of lengthy rallies. It will be a very

:18:01. > :18:07.physical jewel. Andy Murray will not mind that. -- physical battle. The

:18:08. > :18:12.spectators are arriving in the Olympic Park. Hopefully they will be

:18:13. > :18:14.making their way to Centre court heard. It is a wonderful day.

:18:15. > :18:30.Wonderful day for tennis. The semifinal is between Rafael

:18:31. > :18:48.Nadal and Martin Del Porto. And then the women's final.

:18:49. > :19:02.It is just a query but it is long. Is he going to challenge?

:19:03. > :19:05.He was distracted with the crowd coming in late and lots of movement

:19:06. > :19:44.yesterday. Nishikori digging in for the long

:19:45. > :20:06.haul. Smith, on the right, the head of

:20:07. > :20:56.men's tennis. And at the physio is on his right.

:20:57. > :21:03.The serving is going really well. Just one point by the first that has

:21:04. > :22:08.dropped. Murray keeping Raikkonen top of the

:22:09. > :22:12.pond. -- keeping right on top of the point. It is what he has been able

:22:13. > :22:16.to do this week and went through this fantastic run. He's had 16

:22:17. > :22:23.successive victories until he -- since he lost against Djokavic at

:22:24. > :22:27.the final at Roland Garros. He was the winner at Wimbledon and it is

:22:28. > :22:34.now for a bit easier. Whenever he has been in trouble, the server has

:22:35. > :22:40.came to his aid. At 0- 30, he turned it on. Wonderful super slow motion

:22:41. > :22:55.shots, seeing the transferrin is of his weight.

:22:56. > :22:58.It is good to see the crowd arriving, the crowd is beginning to

:22:59. > :23:20.swell. Andy Murray just looking at some

:23:21. > :23:24.headline notes. He knows that even if he starts really well here,

:23:25. > :23:30.Nishikori is a very tough competitor. Two set down in that

:23:31. > :23:36.Davis Cup tie and came back to take it into a thrilling fifth set. There

:23:37. > :24:01.have been no brakes so far. It helps that Carlos Ramos is

:24:02. > :24:02.Portuguese, the umpire is able to tell the spectators to take your

:24:03. > :25:02.seats. There are plenty available. Similar players in many ways.

:25:03. > :25:14.Physically, Andy Murray is much more important. In essence, counterpunch

:25:15. > :25:16.us. -- they are counterpunch us. Nishikori is five the shortest man

:25:17. > :26:01.at the very top. Well played. It was a fault from

:26:02. > :26:41.Andy Murray and Kei Nishikori was quick to take advantage.

:26:42. > :26:54.Perfect. Textbook Tom Kei Nishikori. Delightful little drop shot. Murray

:26:55. > :26:59.did so well to get what he did on it, he pushed it. Look at that.

:27:00. > :27:59.Respect. It is warming up, this one. It has

:28:00. > :28:32.all the makings of a classic. Super finish.

:28:33. > :29:26.Nishikori having a long query with Carlos Ramos party will not

:29:27. > :30:05.challenge it. It is break point. The first of point of the match.

:30:06. > :30:13.Super rally from Andy Murray. Stretching it, backhand and

:30:14. > :30:17.forehand. Andy Murray gets the breakthrough.

:30:18. > :30:27.He has started very impressively in every match, except against Fognini,

:30:28. > :30:34.where control went for a while - a considerable while, in fact, for

:30:35. > :30:38.eight consecutive Games, and against Johnson, a 6-0 first set. But he has

:30:39. > :31:35.started well here. At the moment, complete command

:31:36. > :32:39.behind his serve. That never looked right. But the

:32:40. > :32:45.game plan obviously seems to be to get Nishikori on the stretch time

:32:46. > :32:46.after time. Had to move forward a lot more than he anticipated that

:32:47. > :33:24.one. So, a couple of errors, could they

:33:25. > :33:53.prove costly? UMPIRE: Time warning, Mr Murray. 20

:33:54. > :33:58.seconds you are allowed between points and Carlos Ramos is a bit of

:33:59. > :34:04.a stickler that is. You have taken 25 seconds already. -- stickler for

:34:05. > :34:37.this. He did well to dismiss that. He was

:34:38. > :34:42.distracted for quite a period yesterday with the crowd coming in.

:34:43. > :34:43.It is not so significant today, a much bigger stadium, the crowd

:34:44. > :34:53.coming in right at the top. He is going to challenge. At first

:34:54. > :34:59.glance, it did look like it was wide, I think he knows it. But his

:35:00. > :35:09.first reaction, combat of soul that he is, was to challenge this.

:35:10. > :35:25.UMPIRE: Mr Murray has two challenges remaining.

:35:26. > :35:33.Some adrenaline really racing through his body here. It is the

:35:34. > :36:05.quickest serve so far, 205 kilometres per hour.

:36:06. > :36:15.It looked like it could be a dicey game that one. Not to be.

:36:16. > :36:23.Yes, the problem yesterday with Steve Johnson, the distraction was

:36:24. > :36:36.that a lot of spectators were coming in late. Andy is going to check

:36:37. > :36:45.after the match about the warning. He says he is not convinced it was

:36:46. > :36:52.more than 25 seconds. You would probably be confident, wouldn't you,

:36:53. > :36:56.that Carlos Ramos had it right? Sometimes, some umpires more than

:36:57. > :36:59.others, sticklers for it. The problem yesterday was the

:37:00. > :37:05.destruction with the spectators coming in low down in a much smaller

:37:06. > :37:10.court. A huge court here, a lot of those spectators coming in in the

:37:11. > :37:14.upper tiers, so not as much of a distraction. It is the stewards that

:37:15. > :37:17.need to be train harder than they have been.

:37:18. > :37:30.UMPIRE: Time. So it is just a single break, but it

:37:31. > :38:59.is a 4-1 deficit. He may be 4-1 to the good but every

:39:00. > :39:27.point, every rally, is treated with the same intensity by Murray.

:39:28. > :39:34.Cunning from Nishikori. Changing the shot at the last minute and Murray,

:39:35. > :40:30.nowhere to go. Really cracked his trademark shot,

:40:31. > :40:31.the backhand across, which has been proved beyond all recognition in the

:40:32. > :40:56.last 12 months. -- improved. This is terrific from Murray and at

:40:57. > :40:58.the moment, it looks far too good for the Japanese and the chance here

:40:59. > :41:35.for a double break and a 5-1 lead. Tough. The sun was a factor. Again,

:41:36. > :41:40.Murray gets his reward for superb defence. And that surely is the

:41:41. > :42:37.first set gone as far as Nisha Cooley is concerned.

:42:38. > :42:43.See the work on the ball but he produced there. -- that he produced

:42:44. > :43:25.there. Murray is really in the comfort zone

:43:26. > :43:40.now. It is another very impressive start. Three set points.

:43:41. > :43:54.That is the ideal way to finish it off. Pace number three and the first

:43:55. > :44:00.set in 33 minutes -- ace number three. Just looking back on his

:44:01. > :44:05.results so far in Rio, he won the first set against Victor Troicki

:44:06. > :44:11.6-3, he won the first set against Monaco 6-3, 6-1 against Fognini and

:44:12. > :44:17.6-0 against Steve Johnson and here, 6-1. So he has been really well

:44:18. > :44:23.prepared. But against Fognini and Johnson, it slipped, the complete

:44:24. > :44:27.superiority he had, and I have to say, it was virtually complete in

:44:28. > :44:37.that set. He will be very keen that this doesn't happen. Spot the cloud.

:44:38. > :44:42.Just one or two over the mountains, but it is a super day, a wonderful

:44:43. > :44:49.day for playing tennis. Not too hot, a little humid but not oppressive.

:44:50. > :44:52.Tough to remember, seven unforced errors from Murray, but that seems

:44:53. > :45:08.to be the picture. Organisers are very keen to defend

:45:09. > :45:12.the fact that there was not very many in the athletic Stadium last

:45:13. > :45:17.night. The local press have said why do you not fill it up with children?

:45:18. > :45:21.They said that they are trying to. It should be full tonight and

:45:22. > :45:32.tomorrow night. Mo Farah tonight. Usain Bolt tomorrow. And this Centre

:45:33. > :45:39.Court, beginning to fill up dramatically. Lots of Argentines

:45:40. > :45:50.have made the trip. Martin Del Portal is up next against Rafael

:45:51. > :45:57.Nadal. We'll Nishikori have more award in this second set? -- will

:45:58. > :46:40.Kei Nishikori have more award. Yes. The best shot of Nishikori from

:46:41. > :46:43.the match. What a shot that was. Andy Murray did let it slip against

:46:44. > :46:48.Johnson right at the start of the second set. There was distractions.

:46:49. > :47:19.He was a bit down on himself or allowing that to happen.

:47:20. > :47:26.The big white. Andy Murray fancied it off the racket. That did look

:47:27. > :47:54.white. -- wide. That looked as if it dropped on the

:47:55. > :47:59.line. Nishikori is giving it a long look and will he challenge? UMPIRE:

:48:00. > :48:12.Challenging that the ball was called in. He might have unsighted the line

:48:13. > :48:44.judge. That was a sigh of relief. Good intervention.

:48:45. > :49:18.He felt he had to go for it and you can understand why.

:49:19. > :49:23.The drop shot is working well for Kei Nishikori. We know that he has

:49:24. > :49:37.character and he showed it there. He was the winner of the title in

:49:38. > :49:43.Memphis earlier this year. It has been a consistent year forehand, the

:49:44. > :49:48.Mac other finals, one in Miami where he lost to Djokavic, Barcelona where

:49:49. > :49:53.he lost to Nadal and then Toronto before coming here. Djokavic beat

:49:54. > :50:00.him again. Djokavic has been a really big form on the side of Kei

:50:01. > :50:02.Nishikori. And they would say not as big a form as he has been on my

:50:03. > :50:59.side. -- Andy Murray would say. Returns like that are letting

:51:00. > :51:54.Nishikori down. That was a gruelling rally. Didn't

:51:55. > :52:00.Nishikori play well? One of the few times he has been able to manoeuvre

:52:01. > :52:45.at Mario around. -- miniver Andy Murray around.

:52:46. > :53:29.He has got a lead on the Murray serve. Heady heights so far.

:53:30. > :53:54.Opportunities he knows will be few and far between.

:53:55. > :54:33.Just kept on going. Nishikori does not have the levers to deal with it.

:54:34. > :54:57.Unlike the stage yesterday, knuckle down to the task, very impressive.

:54:58. > :55:55.Good enterprise from Kei Nishikori. Terrific angles. So much more

:55:56. > :56:01.influential angles on this court because it is so slow. Very

:56:02. > :56:03.different to power their way past. For people with the speed of Murray

:56:04. > :57:00.or Nishikori. No doubt that Nishikori is playing

:57:01. > :57:07.better now. He has a far better length. Just a little bit more of

:57:08. > :57:20.taking the game to Murray. He gave it a long look but it was

:57:21. > :58:06.all right. First double of the match for the

:58:07. > :58:33.Japanese. Looking much more solid, more

:58:34. > :58:43.assertive. 2-1, no breaks so far in set number two.

:58:44. > :58:49.Nishikori, I was reading in a marketing magazine, is the most

:58:50. > :59:01.marketable tennis player in the world. Forget Murray and Djokavic.

:59:02. > :59:16.And Federer. What is this? Stupid umpiring. Come on! What? We're not

:59:17. > :59:25.too a lot -- we're not allowed to suggest you could make a mistake?

:59:26. > :59:34.You can do that in a different way. Stupid umpiring. You can say stupid

:59:35. > :59:41.umpiring. Do you want to be the stark dash-mac Andy Murray seemed,

:59:42. > :59:46.do you want to be the start? Lots of players think that Carlos Ramos

:59:47. > :59:56.wants to be part of the show. It does seem to be harsh, like he was

:59:57. > :00:03.itching to get involved. There's nothing that Murray can do about it

:00:04. > :00:14.now. He has to be careful. Things are beginning to conspire.

:00:15. > :00:22.Nishikori, the magazine told us, is the most marketable player in the

:00:23. > :00:30.world. That is based on his marketing earnings of last year and

:00:31. > :00:34.all predictions for next year. -- projections. Estimated sponsorship

:00:35. > :00:36.earnings of around $14 million. Lots of that from the far East.

:00:37. > :00:57.$14 million for the year. -- 40 million. Now, Murray has got to

:00:58. > :00:58.forget it. Sometimes he finds it difficult to forget things, but just

:00:59. > :03:11.concentrate on the tennis. And the trusty servant working well

:03:12. > :03:53.when he needs it. -- the trustee -- trustee serve.

:03:54. > :05:43.His second ace. No brakes so far. -- no breaks.

:05:44. > :05:51.Well, he dragged forward, but he looked a sitting duck there.

:05:52. > :05:53.Nishikori couldn't finish him off and it is red alert, not just a red

:05:54. > :06:05.shirt. He did well to pose the question,

:06:06. > :06:13.but, really, it should have been a better answer than that.

:06:14. > :06:22.Well, he played -- has played so much better in the second set but

:06:23. > :06:23.this is a dreadful game for the Japanese and here are three break

:06:24. > :06:53.points for Murray. It is so unlike Nishikori. Who has

:06:54. > :06:56.battled so hard. Obviously, lacking in stature, physical stature,

:06:57. > :07:02.compared with the giants of the game, but also he has had to battle

:07:03. > :07:07.through injuries. Even in the last 12 months. He had to pull out of

:07:08. > :07:12.Wimbledon last year with a left calf injury, he had a wrist injury at the

:07:13. > :07:16.Australian Open, he has had hip, shoulder problems, an elbow injury

:07:17. > :07:25.when he first started his career that looks like it might put paid to

:07:26. > :07:30.it. -- that looked like. And having had to work so hard to get where he

:07:31. > :07:39.is, in the top ten, number seven in the world, it was a surprising ways.

:07:40. > :07:55.So a change of footwear -- surprising waste.

:07:56. > :08:06.They don't believe the opportunity has gone. He is a national hero back

:08:07. > :08:15.in Japan. A young man, just to add to the story, who moved to -- from

:08:16. > :08:20.Japan at the age of 14 to train at the Nick Bollittieri Academy, didn't

:08:21. > :08:28.speak a word of English but kept going to emerge as a top player. He

:08:29. > :08:45.didn't show it there, though. So Murray, a set and a break up.

:08:46. > :09:18.Nishikori needs a lift after that game.

:09:19. > :09:25.Just looking to see if there is any sign of a physical problem.

:09:26. > :09:41.Technique out of the window at the moment.

:09:42. > :10:13.Well, the shot was on. The trouble is, nothing much is on at the

:10:14. > :11:13.moment, he is missing so regularly. You could see the swing on that

:11:14. > :11:21.server, like a banana. -- serve. Three successive Games for Murray.

:11:22. > :11:52.Nishikori had better get his act together fast.

:11:53. > :12:09.It is error after error. It is strange, Murray is playing superbly,

:12:10. > :12:18.but I'm looking at Nishikori to see what the problem is.

:12:19. > :13:40.Well, the net is not working in Murray's favour.

:13:41. > :13:44.Nothing is automatic for Nishikori in the second set. His second double

:13:45. > :13:50.fault. He could see him turning away from

:13:51. > :14:46.that shot before it had landed. Well, doing so well to get himself

:14:47. > :14:53.back in the rally and then an unusual error.

:14:54. > :15:14.UMPIRE: Please do not scream out during the point, thank you.

:15:15. > :15:23.What a return. Launched himself into that. A lot of the Japanese

:15:24. > :15:28.supporters are behind Murray. I think he was distracted on the

:15:29. > :15:29.previous point. I don't think any harm was meant, just getting a

:15:30. > :16:01.little overexcited. Distraction. Some fans are beginning

:16:02. > :16:13.to beat Murray in a little bit. He would find that. -- bait. He will

:16:14. > :16:20.not mind that as a tape of confrontation is interesting for

:16:21. > :16:31.him. Much better signs from Nishikori.

:16:32. > :16:42.Those last two games may turn out to be crucial. He is not lacking

:16:43. > :16:47.support. They have followed him in every match. Particularly in the

:16:48. > :16:51.quarterfinal yesterday against Gael Monfils that went one way and the

:16:52. > :16:57.other. It looked like Gael Monfils was going to take it. Nishikori

:16:58. > :17:02.found some inner strength to take it on the third set tie-break. He went

:17:03. > :17:07.absent without leave for ten minutes prior to that game. He has some

:17:08. > :17:30.problems with his footwear. Four of Andy Murray's six victories

:17:31. > :17:36.over Kei Nishikori have came in straight sets. If this is not to go

:17:37. > :18:28.the same way he has to keep his foot on the accelerator.

:18:29. > :18:38.Andy Murray bided his time and did not panic. He stayed on top of that.

:18:39. > :18:40.It would've been a very easy to race into a volley here. He found himself

:18:41. > :19:09.at ideal depth. He quit on the shot. Just do not get

:19:10. > :19:45.it. At the other end of the court, Andy

:19:46. > :20:10.Murray is doing his job extremely well.

:20:11. > :20:46.Andy Murray is one game away from the gold-medal match.

:20:47. > :20:56.Nishikori is coached by Michael Chang who is not here. Jamie Delgado

:20:57. > :21:22.has limited amount of accreditations for each country.

:21:23. > :21:29.I do not know if there is a problem with Nishikori. It seems to be

:21:30. > :21:40.moving to his left. He's not able to get any power the backhand. Any

:21:41. > :21:41.power at all. Andy Murray is a keen watcher and he will be all too aware

:21:42. > :21:53.of that. But when he is in the zone he can

:21:54. > :22:52.hit it free and well. Well played, Nishikori. He pumps his

:22:53. > :23:17.fist. He is hanging on by a thread. The code are doing all they can. The

:23:18. > :23:20.British fans that here are quiet despite the smooth course of Andy

:23:21. > :23:30.Murray, as it seemed, moving towards final.

:23:31. > :23:36.Watching Nishikori you are always looking for signs of waves and

:23:37. > :23:38.clear. His injuries have let him down at crucial stages. Daschle

:23:39. > :23:50.weren't hurt. Andy Murray has taken advantage and

:23:51. > :23:58.has ignored at the indication of Carlos Ramos. -- irritation. He is

:23:59. > :24:05.one game away from his third Olympic medal. He had a Silver Medal with

:24:06. > :24:12.Laura Robson in London and a gold-medal. It was a career changing

:24:13. > :24:30.event back in 2012. Andy Murray serving for the match

:24:31. > :24:45.with new balls. They serve at White has been

:24:46. > :24:52.fruitful. He has served remarkably well, 83%

:24:53. > :25:24.first serves R.N.. Bass is as good as a as Nishikori

:25:25. > :25:45.has had any match. A couple of quick steps and then

:25:46. > :26:04.launching himself at that one. A reminder that it is not over yet.

:26:05. > :26:51.In the end it was an unforced error from Kei Nishikori.

:26:52. > :28:04.It was a teaser. You would expect Murray to take care of that.

:28:05. > :28:15.He launches into that second serve of Murray. But where has this kind

:28:16. > :28:19.of form been prior to this game? In the previous 3-4 games. It is very

:28:20. > :29:20.late but it is not too late. The rally of the match. Perhaps, the

:29:21. > :29:25.Valley of the tournament. And look where Andy Murray was to play the

:29:26. > :29:32.final shot. You have to feel for Kei Nishikori. What a sensational rally

:29:33. > :29:45.that was. Andy Murray will not be denied.

:29:46. > :29:54.I think you will have to see a replay of that later. It is match

:29:55. > :30:21.number three. -- match point number three.

:30:22. > :30:36.He is there. CHEERING

:30:37. > :30:48.Nishikori is disappointed, but Murray, no glitch today in the

:30:49. > :30:56.semifinal. He is into his second successive Olympics singles final.

:30:57. > :31:04.Magnificent. So it will be either called again or Silva. -- it will be

:31:05. > :31:14.either gold again or a Silva for Andy Murray. Didn't he play well?

:31:15. > :31:19.You can see not just the pleasure but the relief. He sets himself such

:31:20. > :31:27.high standards. But he has made it through. It has been a winding road,

:31:28. > :31:40.but it was pretty straightforward in this semifinal. Nishikori blue hot

:31:41. > :31:52.but not very often, mostly lukewarm. But Murray, whatever the situation,

:31:53. > :31:55.stayed on top of him. And this time, there was destruction with the

:31:56. > :31:59.intervention of Carlos Ramos warning him twice, first for slow play and

:32:00. > :32:07.then for what he called unsportsmanlike conduct when he said

:32:08. > :32:13.it was "Stupid umpiring". Well, Murray forgot it. Kept his mind on

:32:14. > :32:20.the task in hand and completed it in terrific fashion.

:32:21. > :32:38.Emotional, there, at the end. You can imagine how emotional here will

:32:39. > :32:43.be if he can win again tomorrow. -- he will be. There was a really

:32:44. > :32:48.strong atmosphere by the end, the crowd built and built. A lot of them

:32:49. > :32:55.were for Nishikori but Murray doesn't mind that kind of atmosphere

:32:56. > :33:05.- in fact, he thrives on it. So plenty to talk about. It will be

:33:06. > :33:10.Rafa against Del Potro in the second semifinal, but if Murray keeps that

:33:11. > :33:17.kind of form up, it could be another gold.

:33:18. > :33:22.ORE ODUBO: Yes, Andy Murray will take the applause as he makes his

:33:23. > :33:26.way off the Olympic Centre Court there. He needed all 3.to win that

:33:27. > :33:32.match and what a touch of class to set up the third one. 2-0 he beats

:33:33. > :33:37.Kei Nishikori to move into the Olympic final once again. That

:33:38. > :33:43.final, by the way, on tomorrow. Andy Murray will be in it, just like four

:33:44. > :33:48.years ago in London, but who will he play? It will be either Juan Martin

:33:49. > :33:51.Del Potro of Argentina or Rafael Nadal and I have been listening to

:33:52. > :33:56.the cheers and the roars coming in from the Olympic Tennis Centre over

:33:57. > :34:01.their, huge. But plenty of more business here on the Olympic Park.

:34:02. > :34:06.We have been enjoying ourselves. It is a really nice, pleasant

:34:07. > :34:09.atmosphere. Of course, it is Saturday afternoon... Keep waving to

:34:10. > :34:14.the BBC, thank you very much. They have come from London, long journey,

:34:15. > :34:22.6,000 kilometres. Where are you after? The tennis. Who are you

:34:23. > :34:28.rooting for, Del Potro or Nadal? Del Potro. He had a win over Djokovic,

:34:29. > :34:35.did you see it? Yes, it was quite good. Good atmosphere? Yes, amazing.

:34:36. > :34:41.And tears from Djokovic. Did you know Andy Murray has got through?

:34:42. > :34:45.Yes, we heard, we have come late. Well, you have a wonderful match to

:34:46. > :34:49.watch, Del Potro against Nadal, so we will let you guys go. Thank you

:34:50. > :34:54.for dropping in. They are lucky enough to get a ticket to the

:34:55. > :35:00.Olympic Stadium. If you haven't, and you haven't because you are watching

:35:01. > :35:05.on the BBC in UK, you can see that on BBC One, Del Potro against Nadal.

:35:06. > :35:10.We are going to bring you news of a double success for Great Britain at

:35:11. > :35:13.the rowing. It has been a fantastic afternoon and another couple of

:35:14. > :35:20.medals added to the Great Britain tally. Gold for the men's eight at

:35:21. > :35:25.the Lagoa Stadium. They won it ahead of Germany and the Netherlands, so

:35:26. > :35:29.Great Britain with another gold medal. That is three at the rowing

:35:30. > :35:37.lake. Afterwards, they caught up with John inverdale. Matt,

:35:38. > :35:44.fantastic, many congratulations. Here are the others. Listen, can I

:35:45. > :35:52.have a quick word here? You drove them home in style. That was

:35:53. > :35:57.fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. It is so different to four years ago.

:35:58. > :36:07.Today, we just controlled it from the start and we have always shared

:36:08. > :36:12.more speed in training and today was about delivery. These guys were

:36:13. > :36:19.magnificent, absolute gladiators. Gold, silver and bronze now. Yes, it

:36:20. > :36:22.hasn't quite sunk in. It has been a long time coming and it feels a bit

:36:23. > :36:31.surreal, finally going to be champion. Three! That was the

:36:32. > :36:35.angriest, the fiercest, absolutely everything in it, it was very

:36:36. > :36:41.aggressive, real fistfight. It was good. And the other man who now has

:36:42. > :36:49.three gold medals, what a great shot this is, they have been together for

:36:50. > :36:53.a decade and that is what it means to all concerned. Pete, can you put

:36:54. > :37:03.into words what absurd gold medal means for you? -- what a third. Did

:37:04. > :37:09.macro to do a bad job? No, I can't. -- did Hodgey do a bad job? I have

:37:10. > :37:13.never been so ready for an Olympic Games before, we have never been so

:37:14. > :37:18.ready. Just the most amazing bunch of guys getting is ready for that

:37:19. > :37:23.one, it was a big, big race. I am speechless.

:37:24. > :37:29.I have to say, a really big thank you to everyone here. There are nine

:37:30. > :37:36.of us here but there is so much more to it. A big thank you to wives,

:37:37. > :37:41.girlfriends, family, coaches, Jurgen, Kristian, all the support

:37:42. > :37:45.staff, they are the ones who make it happen and without them, we wouldn't

:37:46. > :37:48.be here now, so a big thank you. We talk all the time about how hard

:37:49. > :37:54.this sport is and the endless hours out on the water, the really Harlaut

:37:55. > :38:00.moments and the lows as well. Did you imagine the high would be this

:38:01. > :38:05.high -- the really hard moments. Definitely not. Like we said, it was

:38:06. > :38:09.a tough race going into it and the nerves before, the things you are

:38:10. > :38:15.thinking about are so bizarre. Like what? Things that you have may be

:38:16. > :38:18.done wrong, people who have been there for you, just everything. But

:38:19. > :38:22.as soon as you get here and now, talking to you now, it is

:38:23. > :38:25.incredible. Everything you went through, everyone you might have

:38:26. > :38:29.upset by missing their birthday or that kind of thing, thank you so

:38:30. > :38:33.much to all of those people who have put up with me, basically. This is

:38:34. > :38:37.incredible, so many people have made theirs. We would like to thank the

:38:38. > :38:41.national lottery as well for supporting us the whole way, without

:38:42. > :38:46.them, it wouldn't be possible. You have been our two podiums before,

:38:47. > :38:51.once on that side, once on that side, now in the middle. How good

:38:52. > :38:56.will that be? I can't wait. I can't wait until the national anthem. It

:38:57. > :39:00.has been great to win silver and bronze but it has always been about

:39:01. > :39:04.being Olympic champion, standing in the middle of the podium, getting

:39:05. > :39:07.the national anthem. I couldn't have done it without these guys.

:39:08. > :39:13.Obviously, I have been in all different boats, but it is nine guys

:39:14. > :39:17.going for one thing, plus the coaches, it is a great feeling.

:39:18. > :39:23.Third time lucky, but it is all worth it. Well done, guys,

:39:24. > :39:29.absolutely fantastic. ORE ODUBO: And shortly after that,

:39:30. > :39:33.it was jubilation time for Great Britain's eight. They were presented

:39:34. > :39:41.with a gold medal, all eight of them, by the president of the IOC.

:39:42. > :39:48.Scott Durant, a shake of the hand. Next up was Tom Ransley to get his

:39:49. > :39:55.piece of gold and where. Standing alongside him, 37 years long, Andy

:39:56. > :40:01.Triggs Hodge. A couple of golds for him already that he won back in

:40:02. > :40:05.London and also in Beijing in 2008. You can see this merry band of

:40:06. > :40:08.Brothers, they look to really enjoy spending so much time together and

:40:09. > :40:16.there is blood, sweat and tears. Matter getting his gold Weddle --

:40:17. > :40:22.matter getting his gold medal. And then the man they call the

:40:23. > :40:36.commander, Peter Reed. A third gold medal for him, he was alongside Andy

:40:37. > :40:39.Triggs Hodge. And the big guy, Bennett, six foot nine. Matt

:40:40. > :40:42.Langridge picked up the gold as well for Great Britain, he was a

:40:43. > :40:49.bronze-medallist back in 2012 with this crew. Will have! Research was

:40:50. > :40:56.also a bronze-medallist, so an upgrade for those two. And then

:40:57. > :41:01.Phelan Hill, the Cox, with a huge smile on his face and a pat on the

:41:02. > :41:08.back. Congratulations, Great Britain. So a wonderful gold and a

:41:09. > :41:11.sensational silver won by Great Britain's women's eight. For the

:41:12. > :41:17.very first time, they won an Olympic medal in this event. It was the USA

:41:18. > :41:24.that went away to win the gold medal but it was a photo finish for silver

:41:25. > :41:29.in the end. Girls, that was magnificent, well

:41:30. > :41:35.done. We have worked so hard to get here and it is not just us, every

:41:36. > :41:39.single woman who has wrote in the eight, we have done it for those

:41:40. > :41:43.girls at home, they have got us over the line and I am so proud of these

:41:44. > :41:51.nine goals but there are 50 more behind us who got us here. Fran, how

:41:52. > :41:55.does this feel? It is good, I quite like silver. I couldn't have dreams

:41:56. > :42:00.of a more amazing experience to finish on. So much trust in every

:42:01. > :42:03.single one of them and now a whole generation of British rowers, those

:42:04. > :42:07.girls can really believe. We would all like to say this couldn't have

:42:08. > :42:12.been possible without the national lottery. When I first started in

:42:13. > :42:16.1996, I started to believe I could go to the Olympics and that is when

:42:17. > :42:22.the funding came in. The list got people to thank is too long, but

:42:23. > :42:28.thank you to all these girls. At what point this year did you start

:42:29. > :42:32.thinking, we can do this? I think we got this combination in the boats

:42:33. > :42:36.just before the Europeans and the first session was awesome, it really

:42:37. > :42:43.clicked and all of us knew it was something really special. At 1,000m

:42:44. > :42:52.and you are last, don't act panic, Mr Mannering! Don't tell them, it is

:42:53. > :42:58.not important. I have been impressed with this group that they hold their

:42:59. > :43:02.heads the hallway and base rapidly to respond really well to me and I

:43:03. > :43:05.could see what was going on around me and some of those crews were

:43:06. > :43:10.doing too much and I knew we were in a really strong rhythm and I know

:43:11. > :43:14.what the last 2,000 could do for us, so I had no doubt, even when we were

:43:15. > :43:19.last, that we were going to go through. Tell us, Polly, 500m or so

:43:20. > :43:23.to go, where you so focused you didn't know what was happening or

:43:24. > :43:29.did you think, this is our medal, this is our moment? To be honest, at

:43:30. > :43:35.500, I thought we were going to win. I believed every single stroke that

:43:36. > :43:37.we had what it takes. America are an incredibly classic crew but that

:43:38. > :43:42.does not take away from the silver medal, it was incredible. These

:43:43. > :43:46.girls are strong, they are sassy, they are inspirational and I am so

:43:47. > :43:49.happy to be here with them. I think you are being hurried along to talk

:43:50. > :43:53.to other people. I am sure we will talk to you later on but many, many

:43:54. > :43:58.congratulations, the first ever women's eight to get a medal in the

:43:59. > :44:03.Olympic Games, just fantastic. Well done, everybody. And a pat on the

:44:04. > :44:07.back for Zoe in a big way. ORE ODUBO: What a team, what a unit

:44:08. > :44:11.and here they were taking their place on the podium. They seem even

:44:12. > :44:16.more happy than the boys who won the gold. History makers, winning the

:44:17. > :44:21.first medal in the Olympic Games in this event for Great Britain. Katie

:44:22. > :44:26.Green, enjoying her moment. And getting a ripple of applause from

:44:27. > :44:31.the rest of the girls. They are in this together but they appreciate

:44:32. > :44:39.the individuals' work. Frances Houghton is now up to three silver

:44:40. > :44:43.medals, she won two back in Beijing and London. Remember what happened

:44:44. > :44:51.to Katherine Grainger when she won three straight Olympic silvers.

:44:52. > :44:54.Polly Swann got her silver medal and then Jessica Eddie who was in the

:44:55. > :44:58.great British eight that came fifth in London 2012, very different

:44:59. > :45:04.result for her, the happiest results. Olivia Carnegie-Brown

:45:05. > :45:08.enjoying her moment and Karen Bennett as well. Just a beautiful

:45:09. > :45:11.day down there to be at the Lagoa Stadium and it just looks even

:45:12. > :45:17.better, doesn't it, with a silver medal around your neck? But to Zoes

:45:18. > :45:21.the last to receive the silverware, Zoe Lee, and then a few inches

:45:22. > :45:27.below, Zoe de Toledo, the Cox. Incredible. A gold and a silver for

:45:28. > :45:32.Great Britain's eights on the rowing lake.

:45:33. > :45:40.That makes it by the rowing medal so far for Great Britain which means

:45:41. > :45:45.that Great Britain have 24 medals in total which is incredible. They came

:45:46. > :45:49.into this with 22, another two, a gold and a silver at the rowing like

:45:50. > :45:57.soap and Britain are sitting pretty in third place. -- at the rowing

:45:58. > :46:03.lake. They could win another in the next 24 hours. In the Gulf, we were

:46:04. > :46:08.telling you at the top of the show, Justin Rose was four shots of the

:46:09. > :46:13.readers going into the third day. Things have taken a turn for the

:46:14. > :46:21.much better. This was Justin Rose getting an eagle at the third which

:46:22. > :46:28.is a par four. He went even better or at least match that, two eagles

:46:29. > :46:44.in the space of three holes. This was on the fifth. This was the part.

:46:45. > :46:49.It took him to ten under. He led the overnight leader Marcus Fraser by

:46:50. > :46:54.one shot. Justin Rose right now, on the third day of four in the men's

:46:55. > :46:57.golf tournament is leading the way. Let us go live to the Olympic Golf

:46:58. > :47:05.Course and have a look at the state of affairs. If you're a big Justin

:47:56. > :48:04.A real medal prospect for Justin Rose in the Gulf. What about the

:48:05. > :48:08.whole nation? Let us talk about the Jordi Balk, they hosted the very

:48:09. > :48:14.first Beach Volleyball Arena on the beach here in Rio. They have got

:48:15. > :48:19.high hopes. The leading player in the men's tournament are Brazilian.

:48:20. > :48:38.We are going into this one for the home nation.

:48:39. > :48:45.It has been very busy at the Copacabana Stadium. It will look

:48:46. > :48:47.great in that sunshine. It is go and see how the Brazilian pair get on

:48:48. > :49:07.against the Spaniards. COMMENTATOR: Allson and Schmidt are

:49:08. > :49:19.playing in blue. The first server is a service error.

:49:20. > :49:53.The best of three sets and as is the first to 21.

:49:54. > :50:47.Again they serve to Gavira. It was panned over attempted block. It is

:50:48. > :50:49.not all about power this game. It is touch as well. If we go into a food

:50:50. > :51:08.set, it is the first to 15. Set, touch, Digg. Under the clock.

:51:09. > :51:17.It lands in. -- and a block. 4-2 now for Brazil. It is a magnificent

:51:18. > :51:28.figure. Gavira could not find a way past the block.

:51:29. > :51:41.That is the first service error. The sides will switch the Court only

:51:42. > :51:45.seven points. There are time-outs. The technical time-out when the set

:51:46. > :51:53.gets to 21. One time-out per team. Great sex. Fantastic finish. --

:51:54. > :52:49.great set. That was long but was it touched?

:52:50. > :52:59.Yes it was. Of the block of Herrera. It is now 6-4.

:53:00. > :53:11.We talk about Alison as the mammoth. Schmidt is known as the magician for

:53:12. > :53:19.his skill at the back court. Another wonderful piece of defensive work.

:53:20. > :53:23.That was routine for Schmidt, to be fair. He does come up with the most

:53:24. > :54:11.spectacular plays. Good block, great reactions. They

:54:12. > :54:12.also get a referral. It would be a video replay if they want to

:54:13. > :54:50.question a decision. He gets that one all wrong does

:54:51. > :55:01.Alison. Corrected to Gavira and Herrera, they have levelled it up.

:55:02. > :55:12.Decent set. Danger in the back court.

:55:13. > :55:15.They serve was dying on Alison and for the first time any match, Spain

:55:16. > :55:34.have the lead. These two teams have met twice

:55:35. > :55:48.before. The Brazilian pair have won both of them. Good block.

:55:49. > :56:01.Alison just struggling a little bit here. With his spikes. That is the

:56:02. > :56:08.top of the net. Brazil called time-out. Job well done by Gavira

:56:09. > :56:24.and Herrera. These two have been together since

:56:25. > :56:28.the start of the 2014 season at her four podiums in the first season

:56:29. > :56:34.together including a first title in Austria. It was last year that they

:56:35. > :56:41.took the world tour by storm. Fourth place was their best result and four

:56:42. > :56:45.events. They were the world Championships in the Netherlands and

:56:46. > :56:48.they won it in the Hague. They had to save an incredible six match

:56:49. > :57:00.points in tie-break against the home team. They eventually won it by

:57:01. > :57:05.taking the decisive set 22-20. The Tic at the next four tournament is

:57:06. > :57:10.to become the first team since 1999 to win gold in five consecutive

:57:11. > :57:11.events. The steak was broken here in Brazil in September last year when

:57:12. > :57:42.they finished fourth. Alison to serve again and this time

:57:43. > :57:56.went to Herrera. Herrera managed the spike.

:57:57. > :58:06.Just changing the angle of his hand to avoid the block. Wonderful piece

:58:07. > :58:33.of skill. That is better. From Alison.

:58:34. > :58:55.It was just away from the sprawling Bruneau.

:58:56. > :59:00.Getting the point to the Brazil with the error in the serve. It is the

:59:01. > :59:06.technical time-out. The teams returned to the bench. Chance to

:59:07. > :59:21.have a chat about the first part of the opening set that is gone.

:59:22. > :59:29.I think the Spanish beer will be very happy about how things have

:59:30. > :59:39.gone. -- Spanish pair. The crowd are trying to get behind their team.

:59:40. > :59:46.Fantastic atmosphere. As the helicopter comes teething in off the

:59:47. > :59:56.Atlantic. 1000 people can fit in here. It is

:59:57. > :00:07.starting to make a noise. Alison at 10-11. He is into this

:00:08. > :00:40.one. The gigantic Brazilian. Serving away from Herrera. That was

:00:41. > :01:03.a good spike from the Spanish number one.

:01:04. > :01:09.Herrera, trying to keep it alive after making the block but he cannot

:01:10. > :01:21.keep it in play and Brazil are back on level terms.

:01:22. > :01:34.Really starting to warm up his serve. Still alive. It is out.

:01:35. > :01:49.Brazil are back in front. The third change... Second change. A wonderful

:01:50. > :02:12.shot. Alison making the block. That just slides wide.

:02:13. > :02:25.He absolutely climbed into that one, Alison.

:02:26. > :02:33.That is a huge slice of luck. And a quick apology from the Brazilian. He

:02:34. > :02:51.will take whatever he can get. Just takes all the speed from the

:02:52. > :02:54.ball, the net cord. Back in front by two, as they were in the early part

:02:55. > :03:40.of the first set. Google blocking. -- good. 15-15. So,

:03:41. > :03:49.Gavira, this, too Alison. Crosscourt. Yes. Fantastic spike

:03:50. > :03:51.from Alison. A really cute angle. He did not have much court to work with

:03:52. > :04:07.but he got it down. Lovely control on the role. Over the

:04:08. > :04:46.attempt to block. Again, Alison finds the spike. The

:04:47. > :04:56.us must end now of the opening set. -- business end. Brazil lead 17-16.

:04:57. > :05:33.With the straight hand, rather than the cut, which we saw earlier. Good

:05:34. > :05:37.block. Through. The block of Alison, and now Spain have a 1-point

:05:38. > :05:44.advantage. That is how a rally counselling. Initially too close to

:05:45. > :05:46.the net, so it did not allow Alison the chance to really put his right

:05:47. > :06:14.hand through it. So Spain are serving, 18-17.

:06:15. > :06:21.Retreated, Spain, the attempt to keep that alive from Gavira, but the

:06:22. > :06:40.power was too much. Can you believe it? The second time

:06:41. > :06:46.they have had a huge slice of luck in this opening set. And they moved

:06:47. > :06:52.to within two points of the first set.

:06:53. > :07:01.A time-out called by Spain. Just trying to take the heat out of the

:07:02. > :07:28.crowd and the Brazilian pair. They claimed a pair of victories on

:07:29. > :07:40.the European tour to qualify for the round of 16 in their world tour

:07:41. > :07:48.events, consistent also been reaching for semifinals. Just six

:07:49. > :07:58.semifinals and three more podium finishes in 27 events the last three

:07:59. > :08:05.years. Their first world tour gold medal came at the Moscow Grand Slam

:08:06. > :08:16.in May 2000 15. They started the season in good form. Winning in

:08:17. > :08:32.China. Followed that two weeks later with prawns in the Fuji open --

:08:33. > :08:37.bronze. 19-19. The referee will keep them playing. The officials did not

:08:38. > :08:41.give them any time to have a little laptop with

:08:42. > :09:05.-- a little pep talk with each other. They attempted to get. Set

:09:06. > :09:18.point. -- the attempted dig. It is a yellow card. Yellow card to Herrera

:09:19. > :09:27.and Gavira, for the little chat they had, I think. Prior to the previous

:09:28. > :09:51.point. Set point to Brazil. What a response from Herrera.

:09:52. > :10:02.They are going to refer this. It has gone the way of Spain. Let's have

:10:03. > :10:25.another look. It is upheld. Brazil get the point.

:10:26. > :10:34.It is 21-20. Thought there was a touch, perhaps, that came back. From

:10:35. > :10:38.the Spain block. Anyway, set point it is to Brazil. Oh, yes. Great

:10:39. > :11:30.spike from Herrera. That is a good improvisation from

:11:31. > :11:40.Gavira. The set was a little close to the net. Rather than going for

:11:41. > :11:47.power, saw the movement to the Brazilian left, so went for the part

:11:48. > :11:58.of the court just vacated. Spain almost got their slice of luck. With

:11:59. > :12:13.the net cord here. But Alison keeps it alive then finishes it off.

:12:14. > :12:25.It is long. They are going to refer it. They're going to refer it, I

:12:26. > :12:36.think. Spain use this referral to save the first set.

:12:37. > :12:54.Let's have another look. He has missed it, hasn't he?

:12:55. > :13:08.It doesn't touch the net either. Let's see.

:13:09. > :13:32.A net fault. Unsuccessful. 24-22, the opening set goes the way of

:13:33. > :13:40.Alison and Schmidt, much to the delight of the home fans. Second

:13:41. > :14:27.set, Spain to serve. Nice work. He is threaded the eye of the

:14:28. > :14:30.needle, Alison, going down-the-line. A wonderful spike. Power and

:14:31. > :14:38.control. That was a chance, Alison was the

:14:39. > :15:10.first touch. Very close to the net. Haven't seen too much of Brunel in

:15:11. > :15:12.the attacking part of the court, but he has had three attempts and been

:15:13. > :15:41.successful in all three -- Bruno. Plenty of space at that far side for

:15:42. > :15:54.Alison to aim for. Nice finish from Herrera. Four

:15:55. > :16:32.points apiece. An apology as the Spike went

:16:33. > :16:54.straight into Herrera. Good dig from Bruno. Oh, yes! That's

:16:55. > :17:08.what he can do. Quickly back to his feet. Touching

:17:09. > :18:07.it into the empty court. Some Spanish supporters here, but

:18:08. > :18:09.not many. The initial touch was heavy, but Brazil have the point

:18:10. > :18:26.because Spain touched at the net. That touched the antenna. Brazil

:18:27. > :18:59.take the point. Touched the red and white antenna,

:19:00. > :19:26.it can't do that. Great Spike. Brazil lead 8-6.

:19:27. > :19:45.It has gone down as a successful block. And that's another successful

:19:46. > :19:56.block to level it up. Bruno has upped his fastest serve to

:19:57. > :20:50.80 Ks. 9-9 as we approach the technical

:20:51. > :21:14.time-out. Began with a magnificent spike down

:21:15. > :21:20.the line. Both Spanish players, but so much power on it... Can't get

:21:21. > :21:36.anything on it. Second touch over the net from

:21:37. > :21:54.Alison. So, it will be Brazil who have the

:21:55. > :21:58.advantage after the technical time-out, which comes after this

:21:59. > :22:03.point. Will their lead be three or one?

:22:04. > :22:16.They've kept it alive here, the Brazilian pair, somehow. But they

:22:17. > :22:18.cannot win the point. And Spain make it a 1-point game with a technical

:22:19. > :22:32.time-out. 11-10 to Brazil. Magnificent dig from Bruno, good

:22:33. > :22:56.reactions from Alison. Well, both sets of players having a

:22:57. > :23:12.well-deserved breather. Beautiful day in this iconic

:23:13. > :23:27.Brazilian city. So, it's going to be Spain serving

:23:28. > :23:38.when they come out after technical time-out. Brazil took the first set,

:23:39. > :24:09.24-22. They have to win this set to stay in the match.

:24:10. > :24:22.When he gets it going, it is almost unstoppable. How many times has he

:24:23. > :24:23.gone down that line and both Spanish players have been there and yet

:24:24. > :24:32.unable to get anything on the ball? Again, they get the net, Brazil.

:24:33. > :24:50.Spain kept it alive this time. The fast serve down the middle

:24:51. > :25:37.caused the damage. Again, the first touch too heavy,

:25:38. > :25:45.too close to the net, making Alison's job much easier.

:25:46. > :25:55.From 11-11, they have opened it up to 15-11. Unsurprisingly, calling a

:25:56. > :26:19.time-out. From a purely neutral perspective,

:26:20. > :26:24.the Brazilian pair in the men's or women's, they go to the final, that

:26:25. > :26:25.start at midnight. The atmosphere in this stadium will be absolutely

:26:26. > :26:38.electric. Those of four blocks came at crucial

:26:39. > :27:15.moments. Brazil, and Bruno serving. Another

:27:16. > :27:17.block. Another big block. Another from Alison, how many times has he

:27:18. > :27:47.done it in this set? The run of points is stopped by

:27:48. > :27:48.Spain. From their point of view, it was so important to get their

:27:49. > :28:18.scoreboard ticking once again. This match has been pretty much

:28:19. > :28:23.about Alison. He has been on the attack on the 31 of 35 attempts that

:28:24. > :28:36.Brazil has had. Successful on 22 occasions.

:28:37. > :28:50.It is becoming a difficult task now for Herrera and Gavira.

:28:51. > :29:06.This stadium will go off the clock if they see this over the line.

:29:07. > :29:13.Spain need a run of points like they've never needed before. Herrera

:29:14. > :29:27.trying to psych himself up. They are against the world

:29:28. > :29:37.champions, the number one seed Reed. And also against a very vociferous

:29:38. > :29:47.crowd will stop this for a place in the quarterfinals.

:29:48. > :30:17.It is too close to the net. Alison finds the block and Brazil are

:30:18. > :30:22.through to the quarterfinals. It is the end of the road for the 2004

:30:23. > :30:34.silver medallists, Herrera and Gavira. Brazil are still alive.

:30:35. > :30:45.The number one seeds, the world champions, through in straight sets,

:30:46. > :30:55.24-22, 20 1-13. And Copacabana beach is rocking.

:30:56. > :30:59.ORE: Sensational stuff. The Brazilian pair going through to the

:31:00. > :31:03.next round of the Men's Doubles competition. Congratulations to

:31:04. > :31:10.them. Things are a bit more quieter and tepid at the Olympic Park. But

:31:11. > :31:19.people are enjoying themselves. A Serbian fan. Where are you from?

:31:20. > :31:27.I am from here in Brazil. Where is the flag from?

:31:28. > :31:31.A second division football team. How are your team getting on right

:31:32. > :31:41.now? Not very good, but...

:31:42. > :31:45.You here to cheer yourselves up? Thank you for talking to us. Always

:31:46. > :31:54.risky talking to Brazilians, you never know if they speak English.

:31:55. > :31:58.He, thankfully, did. There is a great chance of a medal for

:31:59. > :32:01.Britain's Justin Rose. Before he would have heard about the double

:32:02. > :32:11.eagle we told you about. First, on the par four third. He followed it

:32:12. > :32:16.up with another eagle on the par-5 fifth. Just minutes ago, on the

:32:17. > :32:33.12th, he did this... A chip from off the green that took

:32:34. > :32:51.him two shots clear of the field. He has rocketed up the leaderboard. 11

:32:52. > :33:01.under par. Let's head down there, it is not just the course they have to

:33:02. > :33:08.content with, and also the capybaras. We're going live now to

:33:09. > :33:13.the course to check in and see how Justin Rose can finish the third

:33:14. > :33:14.round. Henrik Stenson, Open Championship winner, on the course

:33:15. > :34:06.right now. That has got to go. Got to go. We go

:34:07. > :34:17.on to 18. They are five finishing hole. The pin at back right today.

:34:18. > :34:31.Bobble hole. The pin at back right today.

:34:32. > :34:34.Watson. -- Bubba. He can get it on the green but the flag is back right

:34:35. > :34:54.with the wind straight into his face. Will it get up? Laying it up

:34:55. > :35:01.well short of the hole. Back on 12. Henrik Stenson. About a 3.5 foot

:35:02. > :35:45.port for his par to stay at 9-under. Currently on 8-under par, having to

:35:46. > :35:50.work this up to 13. 14? 13. This is 13. Justin Rose, playing alongside,

:35:51. > :36:20.on 13. This might work. It just might come

:36:21. > :36:27.around that little intrusion into the green. That is fine, from the

:36:28. > :36:32.leader, Justin Rose. A little nod of approval from his caddy. So he has a

:36:33. > :37:00.birdie opportunity and 13. Rafael Cabrera-Bello. 4-under,

:37:01. > :37:06.Cabrera-Bello. He will roll that. And he will get a read from the putt

:37:07. > :37:18.of Justin Rose. The time has just gone to 30 5pm in the afternoon. --

:37:19. > :37:27.2:35pm. He goes with a fairway wood, it has gone right, and short. A

:37:28. > :37:37.little pitch, it has got to get over a mount. Check in at 15. He has been

:37:38. > :37:51.producing some great recovery shot but this one is going to run away.

:37:52. > :37:55.Bubba, short, here in two on the 18th. Which is something of an

:37:56. > :38:04.elevated green with many hollows to protect it, a big bunker at back

:38:05. > :38:10.left. The pin placement today, on 25 yards, and six from the right.

:38:11. > :38:17.Watson just looking to which this in from about 110 yards out. -- pitch.

:38:18. > :38:27.He needs the wind to bring it around. The wind coming straight

:38:28. > :38:42.back down into the faces of the players at 18. 13, Henrik Stenson.

:38:43. > :39:03.Trusting his 3-wood once again, his go to club.

:39:04. > :39:11.He has had one or two problems with the big one, the driver today,

:39:12. > :39:25.Henrik Stenson, but not with the 3-wood. Some of the galleries,

:39:26. > :39:32.trying to move down the fairway, and Thomas Pieters just asking the

:39:33. > :39:38.galleries to stop. People are marching away just as he is trying

:39:39. > :39:40.to get his shot from the tee. He has done that regularly today, gone with

:39:41. > :39:56.the long iron. Not the first time he has

:39:57. > :40:17.found that wasteland Sant off the tee with an iron. -- sand. Marcus

:40:18. > :40:28.Fraser. 3-wood. The Australian is at 9-under par. Two behind Justin Rose.

:40:29. > :40:34.Coached by Dennis McDade out of Melbourne, Dennis McDade also shares

:40:35. > :40:54.his knowledge with Mark Leishman. This is Bourdy but a head on the

:40:55. > :41:01.13th green, with a birdie opportunity from a fair distance, he

:41:02. > :41:07.has been making par after par, Bourdy, and that is a decent effort.

:41:08. > :41:19.Smiles as he acknowledges the fans in the galleries. Let's go to 18.

:41:20. > :41:22.Just under our noses. The commentary position overlooks this 18th green.

:41:23. > :41:43.Watson, to finish with a birdie. Watson is in a real charge up the

:41:44. > :41:51.leaderboard again, today. Were it not for boobies and 14 and 15 he

:41:52. > :41:59.would do well in contention. Just moves that to the right. A

:42:00. > :42:01.character, he makes a birdie at 17 but finishes with a par, and will

:42:02. > :42:21.have to settle for a 4-under par 67. Watson, 67 today, 16-under...

:42:22. > :42:29.6-under, rather, he will take into the final day. Let's go to 13.

:42:30. > :42:35.Justin Rose, left to right swing, should surely make its way back.

:42:36. > :42:37.Maybe one inch too wide. But it is a safe par four the leader. Britain's

:42:38. > :43:03.Justin Rose. Cabrera-Bello, made the most of the

:43:04. > :43:23.approach shot. Is it going to drop? Yes. They would

:43:24. > :43:32.have had a read from the putt of Justin Rose. Very fine, all the

:43:33. > :43:44.same, from the Spaniard. Speed is so essential on the greens. Just

:43:45. > :43:53.trickling in. At 16, but the opportunity for the Argentine

:43:54. > :44:06.Grillo, chases it up... And through the break. That just slides by. So

:44:07. > :44:13.both Watson and Aphibarnrat failed to make their birdie putt at 18.

:44:14. > :44:25.Aphibarnrat Had a good start. But then four bogeys to break the run.

:44:26. > :44:39.Could make neither of the birdie opportunities at the last two,

:44:40. > :44:51.Aphibarnrat comes home in 69. Bourdy, to stay at 8-under, which he

:44:52. > :44:58.does. And Watson, a pair of 67 rounds. Second shot for Pieters at

:44:59. > :45:14.13. You either walk away like that if

:45:15. > :45:19.you are not interested where it is going, or if you know exactly where

:45:20. > :45:21.it is going. The ball catching the bunker and sliding away. Marcus

:45:22. > :45:39.Fraser next to play. Still 1-over for the day. Started

:45:40. > :46:33.with that magnificent 63. Then followed that up with a 69.

:46:34. > :46:50.It's a good effort from there. At the 14th. Longer par-3. It might

:46:51. > :47:03.just skip all the way through. It should hold. That's OK, guys? A

:47:04. > :47:11.couple of slopes on this green. Just caught the right side of the... It's

:47:12. > :47:17.a little and jubilation, a little mound in the middle of the green.

:47:18. > :47:21.It's more on the front left of the green, to be fair. Not quite the

:47:22. > :47:26.middle. Henrik Stenson just checking the wind factor. It is much stronger

:47:27. > :47:32.this afternoon. Second shot to 13 for the Swede. There wasn't a breath

:47:33. > :47:39.of wind this morning when the first players went out. It was a two ball

:47:40. > :47:40.that went out this morning. The Chinese Taipei golfer has withdrawn

:47:41. > :48:24.from Bill must -- illness. Let's go to 14. It is a 5-iron in

:48:25. > :48:45.the hands of Justin Rose. 239 yards, 219 metres. Finds the sand.

:48:46. > :48:52.Three years since he won the 2013 US Open on the East Course at Ardmore,

:48:53. > :49:00.Pennsylvania. Golf swing he has worked so hard to

:49:01. > :49:19.maintain over years. Grillo at 17. It just stopped. He

:49:20. > :49:28.will take that. A little putt across the green. This is the par-3. Whole

:49:29. > :49:57.14. Needs it to settle. Two under today,

:49:58. > :50:07.Bourdy. Thomas Peters, found the wastelands, then found the bunker.

:50:08. > :50:16.-- Pieters. You don't get decent footing, decent life. Well done.

:50:17. > :50:45.Stay there, stay there. Justin Rose is currently on the

:50:46. > :50:47.14th. Fraser and Henrik Stenson playing 13. Playing alongside one

:50:48. > :50:52.another. Here they are on the 13th green.

:50:53. > :51:32.Henrik Stenson, Fraser. 66 in the first round from Henrik

:51:33. > :51:42.Stenson and 68 in round two. Currently 1-under for his round

:51:43. > :52:03.today. Cape Verde putt -- a birdie putt on

:52:04. > :52:33.13 for Henrik Stenson. That's not moving at all. It went

:52:34. > :52:50.left and stage left. -- stayed left. Justin Rose on 14, 219 metres. That

:52:51. > :52:59.nicely done. Five or six feet for his par. Good height out of the

:53:00. > :53:05.sand. Touched the clubface underneath the sand. Fairly soft,

:53:06. > :53:06.but not too soft. Good control out of the bunker. Marcus Fraser for

:53:07. > :53:22.birdie at the 13th. Marcus Fraser back to 10-under.

:53:23. > :53:23.Level par for the day for the overnight leader. He is one behind

:53:24. > :53:38.Justin Rose now. That will give the 38-year-old

:53:39. > :53:39.Australian some confidence now. Good wait, that's why it's dropped in

:53:40. > :53:53.through the side door. Must have a great amount of relief,

:53:54. > :53:57.Marcus Fraser, putts have not been dropping for him. He has managed to

:53:58. > :54:02.cling on for a 9-under for the longest time. Goes to 10-under with

:54:03. > :54:18.that birdie. Began the day at 10-under par. Thomas Pieters for par

:54:19. > :54:24.to stay in touch. No. That little need call once again from Thomas

:54:25. > :54:26.Pieters. He goes back to 6-under, that is five back now from Justin

:54:27. > :54:39.Rose. Bourdy at 14, birdie attempt from

:54:40. > :54:59.the back of the green. Henrik Stenson's birdie putt has

:55:00. > :55:50.just gone past 2.5, three feet. Safe path for Henrik Stenson. Now

:55:51. > :55:57.Justin Rose, can he get up and down here from the sand at 14?

:55:58. > :56:04.Flirted with that left lip. Marcus Fraser makes a birdie just behind

:56:05. > :56:20.Justin Rose, who drops a shot. Marcus Fraser can just have that

:56:21. > :56:23.mental boost, as well. Psychologically, so important. Goes

:56:24. > :56:35.back to co-leader now, this time with Justin Rose.

:56:36. > :56:53.Bourdy of France for his par on the 14th.

:56:54. > :57:01.That never looked very comfortable putt at all. Drag it left and never

:57:02. > :57:16.threatened the whole. Just 2.5 feet, so a bogey on 14 for Bourdy.

:57:17. > :57:28.Meanwhile, Grillo on 17. A longer attempt. No pace in the putt.

:57:29. > :57:39.Grillo remains on 3-under. Fraser Aird needs a mention. That two shot

:57:40. > :57:48.swing. Rose dropped a shot, Fraser picked one up. Back to 10-under,

:57:49. > :58:36.Marcus Fraser. 63 first round, 69 second.

:58:37. > :58:55.He is in the same sand that Justin Rose was in, but at least it is not

:58:56. > :58:59.plugged. Didn't like it. Didn't like the contact, came out of it

:59:00. > :59:08.straightaway and he just didn't like the feel of it.

:59:09. > :59:21.Henrik Stenson with an iron on 14. One of the longest long iron players

:59:22. > :59:47.in the game. 3-iron it is for Henrik Stenson.

:59:48. > :59:56.The gallery likes this. It is straight for the pin. A billion

:59:57. > :00:04.tee-shot and 14 from Henrik Stenson. -- Brilliant. That would have looked

:00:05. > :00:07.great in the air.
