:00:45. > :00:54.Hello again. Welcome back to the Olympic City, Rio Olympic Games. The

:00:55. > :01:00.sun is shining, it is about 25 Celsius, and out there, hotter on

:01:01. > :01:03.Copacabana Beach. And nothing stops the pilgrimage,

:01:04. > :01:08.the locals to the beach. It is packed there.

:01:09. > :01:11.But there is no time for day dreaming and indeed lolling in the

:01:12. > :01:18.sun today for Britain's athletes and for us. This could be another hugely

:01:19. > :01:21.significant day for Great Britain's medal prospects. Day eight, perhaps

:01:22. > :01:28.another Super Saturday in the making. It has been superb at Lagoa,

:01:29. > :01:33.where Britain's rowing team claimed a gold medal and a silver in the

:01:34. > :01:38.men's and the women's eights, the last two events of the regatta.

:01:39. > :01:45.There are possibilities all over the city today, not least at the Olympic

:01:46. > :01:51.Stadium where Jessica Ennis-Hill, Greg Rutherford and Mo Farah are

:01:52. > :01:56.ready to defend their titles. And also in the velodrome, where Laura

:01:57. > :02:00.trot and the team are trying to defend their medal that they won

:02:01. > :02:06.handsomely in London. But Becky James is also making her Olympic

:02:07. > :02:13.debute today from Wales. She is falling into the significant wheel

:02:14. > :02:18.marks of Victoria Pendleton. The gold medal winner in the Keirin the

:02:19. > :02:23.last time round. A lot of significant events. Let's round it

:02:24. > :02:34.up for you so far. Nicely positioned here. Responding,

:02:35. > :02:40.as does Natasha Hanson. O'Brien from Canada. Rebecca James

:02:41. > :02:44.to the front. She takes the front. It is a safe

:02:45. > :02:48.place to be. Now the race is on between the New

:02:49. > :02:54.Zealander and the Australian for the second place to go through. It will

:02:55. > :03:01.be a drag race to the finish. A good move by Hanson now. On the hip of

:03:02. > :03:05.Becky James. First through go to the next round. Becky James has been on

:03:06. > :03:10.the front for a long time. Oh, it is close. Rebecca James,

:03:11. > :03:16.relief for her. She is straight through.

:03:17. > :03:19.I was not sure how I would go compared to everyone else. I thought

:03:20. > :03:23.they were going to compiling over. But I had the legs. I managed to

:03:24. > :03:27.hold it off. Chuffed to bits.

:03:28. > :03:33.Have you ever seen anything like this, Chris? The Dutch rider, right

:03:34. > :03:38.up the side. I have seen people doing it in a stunt but never seen

:03:39. > :03:43.it in a race! And Kenny starts to wind it up on the front.

:03:44. > :03:48.Well, Jason Kenny on the front before. But he is comfortable riding

:03:49. > :03:53.in the front and the back. Trying to push the speed. High on the track.

:03:54. > :03:57.We have seen it in the past all the way to the home straight. He is

:03:58. > :04:00.taking it on the bend. He has the speed. He's going to take it

:04:01. > :04:06.comfortably. He does so. It looks when you look

:04:07. > :04:14.at it, that he has more work to do but my word this man is a real

:04:15. > :04:17.powerhouse. It looks like Constable wants to

:04:18. > :04:22.ride from the front. Skinner is happy to ride from the back. He has

:04:23. > :04:28.seen his team-mate winning from the back. He is going to push high off

:04:29. > :04:33.the bends. But Constable is high as well. A good tactic for him to get

:04:34. > :04:40.the speed. Constable with too much speed. It is close! Oh, just

:04:41. > :04:47.sneaking in, Callum Skinner, so, so close! He had to do a lot of work

:04:48. > :04:51.over the lastbound but Callum Skinner gets home ahead of Patrick

:04:52. > :04:56.Constable. Now they have Australia in the same

:04:57. > :04:59.straight. That is a boost. But the Australians are keeping it together

:05:00. > :05:09.with three. The Americans have them in the same straight, in sight.

:05:10. > :05:12.The Americans are driving through the front there, with their

:05:13. > :05:15.youngster. Australia getting a little ragged.

:05:16. > :05:23.The United States closing in on them on the bell.

:05:24. > :05:27.Australia is feeling it tough now. They will have to really move.

:05:28. > :05:33.But the Americans are absolutely flying! They are charging through

:05:34. > :05:40.here the United States. They have posted an incredible time! A new

:05:41. > :05:44.world record! Well, that is a phenomenal ride by the world

:05:45. > :05:48.champions in Rio. The United States have put a serious marker down for

:05:49. > :05:55.the final. They have broken the world record.

:05:56. > :05:59.Will we see Great Britain do enough to get into the gold medal ride? Or

:06:00. > :06:03.will they ride for a time to answer back to the USA team? We have seen

:06:04. > :06:10.now that they are gaining a lead over the Canadians.

:06:11. > :06:14.Being driven by Laura trot, the omnium Olympic champion. Driving

:06:15. > :06:18.hard on the front. She's an incredible rider, Laura

:06:19. > :06:24.trot. So, so small but with so much power. An exciting rider in the race

:06:25. > :06:32.starts. Everybody is excited to see what she

:06:33. > :06:39.can do. Now the driving force for the Great Britain team, Laura Trott.

:06:40. > :06:44.And now Elinor Barker, a new member of the squad for Great Britain.

:06:45. > :06:49.Canada trying to limit the loss at 1.20 at the moment. So Great Britain

:06:50. > :06:52.starting to apply the pressure. Canada dropping down to three

:06:53. > :06:56.riders. The fourth struggling on the back.

:06:57. > :07:01.The coach of the Great Britain team is indicating to his team that they

:07:02. > :07:05.are up on the schedule. He is happy with the time they are riding. It is

:07:06. > :07:13.a question as to whether or not they are riding to get into the gold

:07:14. > :07:23.medal contention... 1,000 metres to go. 2 seconds ahead. Canada down to

:07:24. > :07:28.three. They push hard. Katie Archibald swings back. Putting

:07:29. > :07:31.together a good ride here. Whether it will be world record pace or not.

:07:32. > :07:36.They are not worried. Down to three now.

:07:37. > :07:44.The great British coach for the first time is asking them for more.

:07:45. > :07:49.Down to three. And Archibald, Trott and Barker will

:07:50. > :07:53.bring it home for Great Britain. Now the coach is happy with the ride

:07:54. > :07:57.it is on schedule. Let's see what they are going to do.

:07:58. > :08:02.Great Britain have this in hand at the bell. They are riding a quality

:08:03. > :08:12.ride here. Will it be good enough to break the world record? It is! 4.

:08:13. > :08:16..12.152. They have edged ahead! Superbly controlled from the Great

:08:17. > :08:21.Britain team. An amazing ride. Nobody looking under pressure. They

:08:22. > :08:23.know each other so well. The coach giving indication they were on a

:08:24. > :08:28.good one. .

:08:29. > :08:32.An amazing ride. Great Britain break the record in the qualifying, the

:08:33. > :08:37.United States break it in the previous race, now Great Britain put

:08:38. > :08:41.their marker down. What a final prospect.

:08:42. > :08:47.What a quartet. That is astonishing. The United States as you saw broke

:08:48. > :08:50.their world record in that first round then of course Great Britain

:08:51. > :08:55.broke it right back! So United States against Great Britain in the

:08:56. > :09:02.final this evening. That will be about 9.10.00pm if it goes to plan

:09:03. > :09:06.at the velodrome. So much going on. Jason Kenny, Callum Skinner through

:09:07. > :09:12.to the quarter-finals of the men's sprint and Becky James going in

:09:13. > :09:17.round two of the semi-final of the Keirin at about 8.20pm your time on

:09:18. > :09:22.the BBC! It has been a fabulous morning as Lagoa. Looking back,

:09:23. > :09:26.Great Britain's rowers have been the most successful sport of any Olympic

:09:27. > :09:29.Games for Great Britain. The only team that is have won a gold medal

:09:30. > :09:34.right back from 1984 all the way through. So a wonderful period of

:09:35. > :09:38.domination. Once again they have topped the medal table and John and

:09:39. > :09:43.Steve have been following every single oar length on the course.

:09:44. > :09:46.Let's get their thoughts on a job very well done by Great Britain's

:09:47. > :09:53.rowers. We arrived on the final day of the

:09:54. > :09:59.regatta expecting two medals on the eights. And got them. Both were

:10:00. > :10:03.hugely impressive performances? The performances were stand-out. People

:10:04. > :10:10.have been asking me what medals are we going to win it is gold and

:10:11. > :10:15.silver. Gold and silver. But it is easy for me to say, they have to do

:10:16. > :10:20.it. Especially with the women, the weight of history on them. Amazing

:10:21. > :10:26.performances. In terms of the women how significant is it to are won a

:10:27. > :10:32.first Olympic medal in the eights? It is huge. People are watching this

:10:33. > :10:36.at home, blown away by the performance. There is a saying in

:10:37. > :10:43.rowing if you can't catch or throw or kick a ball, go into a rowing

:10:44. > :10:49.boat. Will Satch did a little bit of

:10:50. > :10:55.rowing at school. He side stepped it and then came back in, now with a

:10:56. > :11:00.gold medal around his neck. So there are people out there

:11:01. > :11:07.thinking, they could be a lever in a boat. And that happened to Helen

:11:08. > :11:12.Glover. She saw the Beijing Games, she wanted it. Be inspired get out

:11:13. > :11:17.there and give it a go. And Britain top of the medals table,

:11:18. > :11:23.does it mean that Britain are top of the rowing world? Officially we are

:11:24. > :11:27.the best rowing nation in the world. The Kiwis have been pushing hard. In

:11:28. > :11:32.the World Championships some years they get it but at the Olympics it

:11:33. > :11:36.is us. I think that is important for the funding element of it, and the

:11:37. > :11:39.status and the focus that Great Britain puts on the sport. It has

:11:40. > :11:46.been a fantastic week of entertainment. One of the most

:11:47. > :11:52.extraordinary rowing races in the final of the men's single skulls, a

:11:53. > :11:57.dead heat but then they awarded that to Drysdale. So a magnificent

:11:58. > :12:02.setting, and with wonderful weather this week.

:12:03. > :12:04.And Drysdale with the second gold of the Games. And here is the medal

:12:05. > :12:20.table. An heck silver medal for the women's

:12:21. > :12:26.eight. It all adds up to five.

:12:27. > :12:29.A clear impression of how big and significant the support team is

:12:30. > :12:35.behind each of the rowers in allowing them to achieve the

:12:36. > :12:41.ambition of the Olympic medals. Paul Bennett said that he summed up the

:12:42. > :12:48.birthdays he had missed, saying that it was them that should be thanking

:12:49. > :12:53.their family for all of their help. An inspiring morning, I'm sure you

:12:54. > :12:56.will agree. And now a great evening ahead. Four years ago it was Jessica

:12:57. > :13:01.Ennis-Hill who got the party going. The first of the athletes to win the

:13:02. > :13:06.Olympic gold. Then Greg Rutherford in the long jump, followed by Mo

:13:07. > :13:11.Farah, crowning an unbelievable evening. This time, the order has

:13:12. > :13:18.changed. Jessica Ennis-Hill's events is the last as she goes for gold. Mo

:13:19. > :13:27.Farah before that, and it is Greg Rutherford up first at 12. .50am

:13:28. > :13:32.your time. Trying to defend the Olympic long

:13:33. > :13:35.jump title. It's a process of feelings, as opposed to mental

:13:36. > :13:41.skills. You get into a rhythm. As you are a

:13:42. > :13:46.accelerating down the runway it is by feel. Your mind is in a citizen

:13:47. > :13:51.area, if you like, of doing what must be done in order to jump as far

:13:52. > :13:55.as you possibly can. Can you have imagined a night like

:13:56. > :13:59.this? That gold medal changed everything. It gave me the belief

:14:00. > :14:04.that yes, I can win the major championships. Before that I thought

:14:05. > :14:08.if everything went well, there was a chance... Greg Rutherford is the

:14:09. > :14:13.Olympic champion! I went from somebody who nobody knew at all,

:14:14. > :14:20.indeed in the local town to that ginger guy that won that gold medal.

:14:21. > :14:26.That is fantastic. I'm very happy to be remembered as that "ginger guy"

:14:27. > :14:30.it is great. Still to this day, a lot of people remember where they

:14:31. > :14:35.were on Super Saturday. Once you take off, if it is a good

:14:36. > :14:40.jump you feel it straight away. That is what the field eventers chase,

:14:41. > :14:48.that one feeling of: I have got it right. I had it in London. I had it

:14:49. > :14:52.at the worlds. Rutherford completes the Grand Slam

:14:53. > :14:56.Olympic, European, Commonwealth and now world champion.

:14:57. > :15:02.Last year I was not the longest jumper in the world but the most

:15:03. > :15:08.consistent. I take that in with confidence. Consistency wins medals.

:15:09. > :15:14.What it comes down to is doing it when it matters. That is what I am

:15:15. > :15:21.focussed on. It is what happens in the majors. I am an advocate of

:15:22. > :15:24.being happy away from the track and influencing being good at the track.

:15:25. > :15:29.To have what I have now, a lovely little buoy to go home to after

:15:30. > :15:35.sessions, and a very understanding partner in Susie who gets the fact I

:15:36. > :15:41.can be a selfish, angry so-and-so at times. Hello Milo. I have two

:15:42. > :15:44.separate parts, the part at the track which is serious, getting the

:15:45. > :15:50.work done and the part at home, which is different. I don't want to

:15:51. > :15:54.talk about work I want to have fun with my son. I do. And I'm in a

:15:55. > :15:59.better place than I have ever been now. I have a real reason to

:16:00. > :16:02.perform. Now I want want my son to look back in 10, 15 years' time, to

:16:03. > :16:16.say, yeah, my dad was pretty cool. Hoping for better things today, as

:16:17. > :16:22.you've heard, his third jump, he managed to make the qualifying mark

:16:23. > :16:27.for the final tonight. He says he has his run up fixed and knows what

:16:28. > :16:33.he is doing on the runway. All the while with this talk of gold

:16:34. > :16:36.medals on Super Saturday, Andy Murray is defending his men's

:16:37. > :16:41.singles final. He has come through two difficult

:16:42. > :16:46.matches and finds himself in the semifinal against Kei Nishikori of

:16:47. > :16:52.Japan, a former runner-up in the US open and former top five player.

:16:53. > :18:09.Andy Murray took the first set. It is two Games each.

:18:10. > :18:15.He looked a sitting duck there, Nishikori couldn't finish him off.

:18:16. > :18:27.It is red alert, just a red shirt. It should have been a better answer

:18:28. > :18:45.than that. This is a dreadful game from the

:18:46. > :19:01.Japanese, here are three break points for Murray.

:19:02. > :19:16.A crucial break for Andy Murray and he has done it again, 5-3 in front.

:19:17. > :19:18.Nishikori is serving at 3-5 behind. Bidding to stay in this Olympic

:19:19. > :19:19.semifinals Nishikori is coached by Michael

:19:20. > :20:14.Chang who is not here. I don't know if there is a problem

:20:15. > :20:20.with Nishikori, but it seems to be moving to his left. He is not able

:20:21. > :20:28.to get any power on his backhand. Any power at all.

:20:29. > :20:42.Andy Murray, such a keen watcher, will be all too aware of that.

:20:43. > :21:41.But when he is in the zone, he can hit it free and well.

:21:42. > :21:45.Well played, Nishikori, the pumps his fist. He is hanging on by a

:21:46. > :22:00.thread. -- he pumps. The crowd doing all they can, the

:22:01. > :22:06.Japanese. Not too many Brits here. The ones that are, they are quite

:22:07. > :22:08.despite the smooth course for Andy Murray it seems moving towards the

:22:09. > :22:23.final. Watching Nishikori, you are always

:22:24. > :22:26.watching for signs of wear and tear because injuries have let him down

:22:27. > :22:36.at crucial stages. I can't see anything obvious. Indeed, he played

:22:37. > :22:43.that game well. But Andy Murray has taken advantage, he has ignored the

:22:44. > :22:50.irritation of Carlos Fram Moss -- Ramos. He is a game away from his

:22:51. > :22:56.third Olympic medal, remembered the silver with Laura Robson in London.

:22:57. > :23:01.The gold medal beating Djokovic and Federer, career changing back in

:23:02. > :23:18.2012. Andy Murray serving for the match

:23:19. > :23:32.with new balls. These serve out White has been

:23:33. > :23:38.fruitful. That is as good a return as

:23:39. > :24:20.Nishikori has played in the match. A couple of quick steps, launching

:24:21. > :24:54.himself at that one. Murray keeping control of the match

:24:55. > :25:40.but in the end it was an unforced error from Nishikori.

:25:41. > :26:52.And it was a teaser. You would expect Murray to take care of that.

:26:53. > :27:01.He launches into that second serve of Murray.

:27:02. > :27:07.Where has this kind of form being prior to this game? In the previous

:27:08. > :27:09.four Games? It is very late but it is not too

:27:10. > :28:09.late. The rally of the match, perhaps, of

:28:10. > :28:14.the tournament. And look where Murray was to play the final shot.

:28:15. > :28:20.You how to feel for Nishikori. What a sensational rally that was.

:28:21. > :28:37.But Murray will not be denied. Hopefully we will see a replay of

:28:38. > :29:10.that later. It is match point number three.

:29:11. > :29:37.Nishikori, disappointed. But Murray, no blips today in this semifinal. He

:29:38. > :29:45.is into his second successive Olympics singles final. Magnificent.

:29:46. > :29:48.So, it will either be gold again or silver for Andy Murray.

:29:49. > :30:05.Didn't he play well? You can see not just the pleasure,

:30:06. > :30:11.but the relief. He sets himself such high standards. But he has made it

:30:12. > :30:14.through. It has been a wine the road. But it was pretty

:30:15. > :30:28.straightforward. Nishikori blew hot but not very

:30:29. > :30:35.often. Actually, lukewarm. But Andy Murray, whatever the situation, he

:30:36. > :30:42.stayed on top of it. This time there was distraction with

:30:43. > :30:48.the intervention of Carlos Ramos. Warning him twice, first for slow

:30:49. > :30:54.play, then for what he called unsportsman like conduct. When he

:30:55. > :30:57.said it was stupid umpiring, well, Murray forgot it. He kept his mind

:30:58. > :31:06.on the task at hand and completed it.

:31:07. > :31:11.Well, he is so gritty. He refuses to be beaten here in the singles

:31:12. > :31:15.environment. He is through to tomorrow's final where he plays

:31:16. > :31:19.either Rafael Nadal, the 2008 champion from Beijing or Juan Martin

:31:20. > :31:23.Del Potro, the man that knocked out Novak Djokovic earlier on in the

:31:24. > :31:26.Olympic competition so. That semi-final is getting under way in

:31:27. > :31:33.about 10 minute's time. But in the meantime we have a date in the

:31:34. > :31:37.boxing ring. Ireland's boxers have had a tremendous time four years ago

:31:38. > :31:45.taking four medals but not so good this time. They have lost Paddy

:31:46. > :31:51.Barnes early on and Brendan Irwin has gone out. Katie Taylor, the

:31:52. > :32:00.defending champion, what a fighter she is. Michael Conlan and today

:32:01. > :32:03.Stephen Donnelly. Fighting Mohammed Rabbi, the first from his nation to

:32:04. > :32:13.win an individual boxing world title. The winner of this one gets a

:32:14. > :32:18.guaranteed bronze. So in the opening round of the 69

:32:19. > :32:22.kilograms welterweight quarter-final.

:32:23. > :32:28.Boxers from Morocco and Ireland. The man wearing red. Helping himself to

:32:29. > :32:33.a cracking left hook is the reigning world champion and number two ranked

:32:34. > :32:38.boxer in the world. Mohammed Rabbi from Morocco.

:32:39. > :32:43.And his opponent, Stephen Donnelly, 27 years of age from Ireland.

:32:44. > :32:47.This, the biggest fight of his entire career as he looks to book

:32:48. > :32:55.himself a place on the Olympic medal podium. This is the prize that

:32:56. > :33:00.awaits this fixture of the bout. It does not get tougher for

:33:01. > :33:05.Donnelly. A world number one. Someone who is very experienced and

:33:06. > :33:14.talented indeed. What Donnelly has to do is keep the movement going.

:33:15. > :33:21.You stand toe-toe and then come in to the way he boxes. So you have to

:33:22. > :33:26.keep moving against this fella. He is a very accurate puncher is Rabbi.

:33:27. > :33:30.So Donnelly has to keep the movement going.

:33:31. > :33:42.A good bout. Stephen Donnelly has been impressive so far.

:33:43. > :33:51.Rabbi is really an accurate puncher. Lots of pop on the punches as well.

:33:52. > :33:57.They will have to produce is terrific display here to eliminate

:33:58. > :34:05.the opponent. A split decision in the second

:34:06. > :34:10.preliminary round. Rabbi had a good right hand to the body of Donnelly.

:34:11. > :34:15.Donnelly is a very good mover. One suspects that he will be a

:34:16. > :34:21.crucial asset. He is tagged by another left hand after a right hand

:34:22. > :34:26.to the body was not too far away. Rabb six a boxer, who is an expert

:34:27. > :34:32.at controlling the pace. He likes to box at a leisurely place. He has

:34:33. > :34:36.fast hands, accuracy and power. But the feet are fairly slow. That is

:34:37. > :34:42.why the movement is important for Donnelly. He doesn't want to be

:34:43. > :34:48.holding his feet. He must be hitting him, being a nuisance in front of

:34:49. > :34:53.his opponent. Rabbi punches and goes back. Has a dance in terms of

:34:54. > :34:57.finding the range. Every time he punches and moves back it creates

:34:58. > :35:05.the space and gap again. And away he goes again. But he boxes at his

:35:06. > :35:11.tempo. You must disrupt that rhythm. In the first contest, the good right

:35:12. > :35:16.hand there from Rabbi. He really is a hurtful puncher. But a great

:35:17. > :35:22.response from Rabbi in the third and the final round after losing the

:35:23. > :35:28.second round to Kenya's Akiri. There we saw a quickening of the tempo.

:35:29. > :35:36.After conceding the second round 2-1. He came out more quickly with

:35:37. > :35:40.more alack rutty than they he normally boxes.

:35:41. > :35:53.-- alacritty. There a Moroccan corner. Let's have

:35:54. > :35:58.a look at the scores. Yes, across the board from Rabii. So

:35:59. > :36:02.he started quicker. So Donnelly has to get back to the fast movement and

:36:03. > :36:14.make things awkward for his opponent.

:36:15. > :36:23.So moving to the second round of the 69 welterweight quarter-final. The

:36:24. > :36:29.man wearing red is on the receiving end of a cracking right. So rapid

:36:30. > :36:35.with the punches. Carries a poker face. It seldom

:36:36. > :36:41.changes, the visage of Rabii. But when he steps into range he

:36:42. > :36:47.possesses quick hands and is able to land clean singles. Pinning Donnelly

:36:48. > :36:52.to the corner. Donnelly intelligently trying to tie his man

:36:53. > :37:02.up to the space in the boxing ring. The referee intervenes. He has a

:37:03. > :37:06.fairly wide stance, has Rabii. That means that most boxers with a wide

:37:07. > :37:12.stance struggle to move at speed. If you watch his feet he is slow on the

:37:13. > :37:16.feet. Boxers, like I said before, he boxes at a leisurely pace. He likes

:37:17. > :37:20.the type of pace. The pace he dictates. But the strength is in the

:37:21. > :37:25.quality of the punching. Straight shots. He works well on the inside.

:37:26. > :37:32.Always calm. And that's why you must be busy in front of him. Making had

:37:33. > :37:39.uncomfortable. At this pace it suits Rabii. A nice shot downstairs.

:37:40. > :37:49.A wonderful right-hand from Rabii. Referring to the contest against the

:37:50. > :37:53.Kenyan boxer, the man from East Africa did that, he got into the

:37:54. > :37:57.chest of the markion and made it uncomfortable. Edging the round to

:37:58. > :38:02.two judges to one. Donnelly is a fantastic mover.

:38:03. > :38:07.He matches well. Side to side of either stance. But this is perhaps

:38:08. > :38:18.playing into the man in red's hands. He's got to do more Donnelly.

:38:19. > :38:22.We know what Rabi, is like, he should know that also. He does not

:38:23. > :38:27.lead off. He waits, you have to make him lead to get your feet into a

:38:28. > :38:31.position where you're a threat to him. Make his lead off, then go back

:38:32. > :38:39.to counter if that is the style you are going to do. If not it is in and

:38:40. > :38:45.out. Lots of fast punches. Make it awkward and disrupt his rhythm.

:38:46. > :38:58.Another hard single left hand to the body of Donnelly. A terrific

:38:59. > :39:03.atmosphere here. Rabii is so far on top of this round. So Donnelly still

:39:04. > :39:11.moving. Fluidity. But is there enough of it from him? A good left

:39:12. > :39:17.from Rabi, once again. A very good round of boxing.

:39:18. > :39:19.Donnelly pumps his right fist. But I suspect it is the man in red going

:39:20. > :39:39.to take that round. I think he is indicating he wants

:39:40. > :39:44.the boxer to be busy. He has to throw more shots, Donnelly. He is

:39:45. > :39:49.having a little bit of success. A lovely 1- 2 there. A couple of good

:39:50. > :39:54.exchanges but overall, let's have a look. No. He has not done enough to

:39:55. > :40:01.take it. It is good scoring. It's a tough job. But he must work harder.

:40:02. > :40:12.There were signs he was doing OK but more of it.

:40:13. > :40:21.. So into the second round. It is usually the third and the final

:40:22. > :40:26.round. That is a cracking right hand from Donnelly to begin the final

:40:27. > :40:32.session. He's behind on the cards.

:40:33. > :40:35.He needs a big third and final round as he staggered as the shot caught

:40:36. > :40:44.him somewhere around the side or the top of the head.

:40:45. > :40:50.Often you see Rabi, land shots and he takes a back ward step to regain

:40:51. > :40:55.composure and that's when you have to get on him. Go at him and put him

:40:56. > :41:00.under. A good right hand from Donnelly

:41:01. > :41:07.again. He is having success with single punches. Perhaps he needs

:41:08. > :41:11.greater volume and more intensity. I think Donnelly is doing well.

:41:12. > :41:17.Planning the attacks. The fast darting attacks. But we need more of

:41:18. > :41:31.them to be a little busier. A cracking left hook from Donnelly.

:41:32. > :41:35.That caused Rabii to readjust. Playing dangerously close together.

:41:36. > :41:42.Now a count was issued there. I thought it was a head clash. Indeed,

:41:43. > :41:47.Donnelly thought the same. He has been given a count.

:41:48. > :41:52.Now that's a point. Now this changes things dramatically. As it was

:41:53. > :41:56.indeed a head clash. The referee gave a count to allow Donnelly to

:41:57. > :42:00.recover and a point docked from the score of the world champion in this

:42:01. > :42:06.third and final round that is going to make things very dramatic indeed.

:42:07. > :42:09.A good left hand from Donnelly. We have said how well donely has been

:42:10. > :42:16.boxing. He could take this and turn it around if he is given it on the

:42:17. > :42:22.cards. If Rabii is judged the winner it will be a the-9 round. He just

:42:23. > :42:31.has to turn it around, as you said. If he wins the round that will be

:42:32. > :42:36.10-9 and the point is taken from Rabii, it's a 10-8. So Donnelly has

:42:37. > :42:39.to up the tempo to ensure he wins the round.

:42:40. > :42:44.He really has to go tor it. Donnelly has done better in the third round

:42:45. > :42:51.than in one and two. But it changes the complex of the things. Remaining

:42:52. > :42:53.patient. Remaining poised. The right hand from Rabii was wide of the

:42:54. > :42:59.mark. Is Donnelly boxing in a manner of a

:43:00. > :43:04.man who thinks he has won this in the closing ten seconds or saving

:43:05. > :43:09.himself for a final attack? There is a 10-second clapper. Right hand in.

:43:10. > :43:13.Down goes Donnelly. What is the referee saying here. He has given

:43:14. > :43:18.him a count. There was a shot that helped him get

:43:19. > :43:21.tangled up. Fortunate there for Donnelly.

:43:22. > :43:25.What a dramatic third and final round. Let's re-count the incidents

:43:26. > :43:29.that took place. Donnelly started the third round

:43:30. > :43:33.very well indeed after trailing on the cards after two completed rounds

:43:34. > :43:38.of boxing. Then there was a clash of heads.

:43:39. > :43:41.Donnelly's knees dipped, the referee intervenened and give Donnelly a

:43:42. > :43:52.count. Donnelly intimated there was a clash of heads that caused the

:43:53. > :43:57.referee to dip. The then the referee turned and warned Rabii.

:43:58. > :44:03.He turned and snagged his feet. There was another count down.

:44:04. > :44:07.If there is a win for Rabii it will be a 9-9 round that shot at the end

:44:08. > :44:13.may have been enough to win the round. Close. It will be 9-9, Rabii

:44:14. > :44:21.winning the round but the point taken off.

:44:22. > :44:27.It can pandemic it a 10-8 round. How are the judges going to sort this

:44:28. > :44:33.one out? My goodness. High drama in this third round of the 69 kilo welt

:44:34. > :44:37.we are weight final. The winner is through the medal podium here at

:44:38. > :44:51.2016. COMMENTATOR: Ladies and gentlemen,

:44:52. > :45:02.the winner by split decision... In the red corner Mohammed Rabii.

:45:03. > :45:05.And it's Rabii. A split decision over Ireland's Stephen Donnelly.

:45:06. > :45:10.Eliminated at the quarter-final stage. But he has nothing but

:45:11. > :45:16.admiration and support from the crowds, Stephen Donnelly. Rabiis, as

:45:17. > :45:21.is customary for him, a silent moment of thanks and acknowledgement

:45:22. > :45:23.for the wonderful support he has been received. Donnelly eliminated.

:45:24. > :45:31.The number one seed goes through. Steven Donnelly goes out at that

:45:32. > :45:45.stage. Joe Joyce, the Londoner, goes in the

:45:46. > :45:46.superheavyweight, trying to do and Anthony Joshua in London when he

:45:47. > :46:08.took gold. Who will play Andy Murray in

:46:09. > :46:12.tomorrow's men's singles final in the tennis? That is what we are

:46:13. > :46:17.about to find out. Either this gentleman, Brafferton adult of

:46:18. > :46:23.Spain, 2008 champion from Beijing and fresh from Olympic gold in the

:46:24. > :46:28.doubles with his childhood pal Mark Lopez.

:46:29. > :46:35.And one Martine del Potro, former US open champion, he has had wrist

:46:36. > :46:40.injuries which has hampered his progress and potential. Let us enjoy

:46:41. > :46:44.the opening exchanges. The winner will go through to face Andy Murray.

:46:45. > :46:48.Whoever it is, don't forget del Potro not out Novak Djokovic. It is

:46:49. > :47:17.sure to be a cracking final. The Wimbledon and Grand Slam

:47:18. > :47:28.champion, interesting to see her at the helm of the Davis cup team,

:47:29. > :47:35.looking after the men in Spain. Mark Lopez also in the stands. I

:47:36. > :48:04.hear he had a rather long night with rapper. -- Rafa.

:48:05. > :48:12.Perhaps not having played for a couple of months and coming here

:48:13. > :48:17.with low expectations might work in Nadal's favour, probably already

:48:18. > :48:22.has, with less pressure on him, people not talking about him at the

:48:23. > :48:52.start of the tournament, with more focus on Djokovic and Andy Murray.

:48:53. > :48:59.Perfect conditions today. Not too much of a breeze. Not too hot and

:49:00. > :49:00.humid which has been the case on other days here during the

:49:01. > :49:16.tournament. We will keep an eye on how he is

:49:17. > :49:22.hitting his forehand. He started out a little shaky against Bellucci. It

:49:23. > :49:23.was noticeable in each of the sets he got better, playing his best in

:49:24. > :49:54.the third and final set. Given he hasn't played for so long,

:49:55. > :50:03.he will have some niggles. Let us hope they are just some

:50:04. > :50:07.niggles. For the Dahl, not having had the match play, there is nothing

:50:08. > :50:12.like matchplay which puts those different stresses on the body.

:50:13. > :50:17.Yes, he has moved find in the duration of the doubles match. But

:50:18. > :50:19.after cooling down, it can be a bit different. We shall see how he has

:50:20. > :51:02.recovered. Those fans have their energy levels

:51:03. > :51:30.up. Big cheers for del Potro. Rafael Nadal won the toss and has

:51:31. > :51:39.elected to serve, to begin this men's semifinal at the Olympics in

:51:40. > :51:46.Rio. Billed as the battle of the

:51:47. > :52:23.heavyweights, a blockbuster. Between these two Grand Slam winners.

:52:24. > :52:32.It certainly does have the billing, this match, a very attractive

:52:33. > :52:36.proposition. 14 times Grand Slam singles champion, del Potro with

:52:37. > :52:37.only one but with so much unfulfilled potential, and such a

:52:38. > :53:08.huge game. Very crisp backhand from Nadal.

:53:09. > :53:12.The angle is there to swing the serve out White but for the most

:53:13. > :53:13.part he has been going down the middle. And into the body of the

:53:14. > :53:56.other player. Superb save from the dial looking to

:53:57. > :54:01.expose the movement of del Potro -- from Natal. Del Potro is a very tall

:54:02. > :54:03.man, he gets around the court very well for his height. Nadal will be

:54:04. > :54:39.trying to get him on the stretch. Great depths from del Potro. But it

:54:40. > :55:12.caught the line. Trying to change the pace.

:55:13. > :55:36.He got there in time, had to put on the brakes to pull up. Nice play

:55:37. > :56:44.from the Argentinian. Break point in the first game.

:56:45. > :57:02.A marathon rally. And a whopping forehand.

:57:03. > :57:13.Here is a good look at the big, flat forehand of del Potro. Hit with

:57:14. > :57:18.top-spin but when he flattens it out, look out, it really flies.

:57:19. > :57:28.Fantastic rally from both men but del Potro is the one who came

:57:29. > :57:34.through. That is a great sign for del Potro. Moving very well around

:57:35. > :57:45.the court. And waiting for his chance, not too

:57:46. > :57:47.early, sometimes players can feel like they have to do too much too

:57:48. > :58:46.early in a rally. It has been a common theme

:58:47. > :58:51.throughout the week, the serve has really been working for del Potro.

:58:52. > :59:05.Which has spelt danger for all of his opponents.

:59:06. > :59:23.Three massive serves to start his campaign. His fastest for the

:59:24. > :59:41.tournament has been 215. Making a statement.

:59:42. > :59:48.We have already seen one of the crushing forehands this is why there

:59:49. > :59:56.is so much excitement about the return of del Potro to the game.

:59:57. > :00:00.After having been sidelined for so long, over a period of many years,

:00:01. > :00:45.on again, off again. That was good hitting on the

:00:46. > :00:46.forehand from Nadal, noticeably better than against Bellucci, really

:00:47. > :00:58.going through the forehand. There have been issues with the left

:00:59. > :01:49.wrist. Much more so with del Potro. In the last 18 months he has made a

:01:50. > :01:53.concerted effort to work more on the backhand from the baseline.

:01:54. > :01:57.When he gets over the top of that, so beautifully, he hits right

:01:58. > :02:59.through and follows through with the racket to create that angle.

:03:00. > :04:06.For Nadal, a great forehand. He's on the board.

:04:07. > :04:17.Before we get under way here, let me update you quickly in the golf.

:04:18. > :04:28.Justin Rose made a significant move today behind four shots off the

:04:29. > :04:33.leader, Marcus Fraser. This is him, he dives down there, 2-under for the

:04:34. > :04:42.round. And good stuff to follow for Justin.

:04:43. > :04:45.A former Open champion. And Justin consistently enthused by

:04:46. > :04:49.the golf and its return to the Olympics. This is for another eagle

:04:50. > :04:54.chance. And straight in. So four shots

:04:55. > :05:05.better already than at the start of the day. He has take an 1- shot lead

:05:06. > :05:13.over the field, 10-under par. Marcus Fraser on 9 and Padraig

:05:14. > :05:24.Harrington within five shots at 5-under and Danny will yet on 7. --

:05:25. > :05:31.Danny Willett on 7. All happening in the golf. Now back

:05:32. > :05:37.to the semi-final of the tennis. Now with Nadal having the efforts of

:05:38. > :05:40.playing the singles to get through to the semi-final stage and the

:05:41. > :05:44.doubles final. The emotions of winning the gold medal in the

:05:45. > :05:49.doubles. I'm wonderering how he would shape up. But he has come out

:05:50. > :05:55.with the feet moving well. The racket going through the shots. Even

:05:56. > :06:06.though he was broken early, still looking impressive with the way he

:06:07. > :06:11.is playing. When he held serve, at Juan Martin

:06:12. > :06:18.Del Potro it was firingway. The balls are not necessarily short.

:06:19. > :07:00.He is grunting he is really in the match zone.

:07:01. > :07:14.Great approach. Wonderful point all-round. Good

:07:15. > :07:19.defence from Nadal. Staving off the huge forehands from Del Potro.

:07:20. > :07:21.Credit to Del Potro, he's not rushing to finish the point off too

:07:22. > :07:47.quickly. He gets there in the end. One of the sweetest shots in the

:07:48. > :07:55.game. A thing of beauty to watch, that forehand. This one here,

:07:56. > :08:03.Flatley through again. A little over the top at the end. It's a high-risk

:08:04. > :08:05.shot when he does flatten it out. His percentages have been very good

:08:06. > :08:26.this Olympic tournament. He stopped immediately, Del Potro is

:08:27. > :08:36.challenging. The ball was called in.

:08:37. > :08:50.He got the message, it was in. Mr Del Potro has two challenges

:08:51. > :09:43.remaining. So, a huge atmosphere.

:09:44. > :09:49.Plenty of Argentines making their presence felt. A lot of Spaniards

:09:50. > :09:51.have made the trip. It's a Argentines making most of the

:09:52. > :10:07.noise at the moment. A super day. The temperature is

:10:08. > :10:10.about 23 Celsius. A very light breeze. Quite humid. But ideal

:10:11. > :10:35.tennis conditions. They may have been worried that

:10:36. > :10:42.Nadal would have made a slow start after all of the emotion of winning

:10:43. > :10:48.with his friend, Mark Lopez, in the doubles yesterday. It's been a

:10:49. > :10:52.brilliant start. Del Potro though has been the

:10:53. > :10:54.governor. Having a look to see how wide was

:10:55. > :11:27.the serve. Getting the angles moving well.

:11:28. > :11:37.There's a lot to be encouraged for the Spanish supporters here.

:11:38. > :11:53.Even though the scoreline at the moment is against them.

:11:54. > :12:04.Nothing wrong with his play at all. And the Spanish supporters know that

:12:05. > :12:12.even though this is noisy, even though the Argentines are making the

:12:13. > :12:23.bulk of the noise, their man came back against Bellucci from Brazil in

:12:24. > :12:30.the quarter-final. Taking that from a set down... . A lot of the

:12:31. > :12:35.Brazilians taking Rafa's side now. Should we say there is a healthy

:12:36. > :12:37.rivalry between Brazil and Argentina?! So a lot of them are

:12:38. > :12:57.honourary Spaniards. Very much a carnival atmosphere

:12:58. > :13:03.here. Today the Centre Court at this Olympic Tennis Centre virtually sold

:13:04. > :13:07.out today. That's good to see. It's a the women's final coming up

:13:08. > :13:11.next. Monica Puig against Angelique Kerber but for a lot of the

:13:12. > :13:17.spectators here, this is the feature match. They have seen Andy Murray

:13:18. > :13:20.coming through in a slightly disappointing performance from Kei

:13:21. > :13:28.Nishikori. Andy Murray looking very good. Now they have this

:13:29. > :13:31.competition. So it is still Del Potro by a break,

:13:32. > :14:26.3-2. He is going to challenge.

:14:27. > :15:01.Close enough to challenge. The umpire having quite a task to

:15:02. > :15:03.keep this crowd under control. Mr Del Potro has one challenge

:15:04. > :15:50.remaining. It is ideal for Nadal, the court is

:15:51. > :16:00.slow, double checks and gets up high. So it plays very much like a

:16:01. > :16:29.clay court. It was a little foolhardy for del

:16:30. > :16:31.Potro to make the move, and Nadal really making him play. -- Making

:16:32. > :17:30.him pay. Now it is the Spaniard and zillions

:17:31. > :17:37.in full flight. His form has been a revelation.

:17:38. > :17:43.Remember, he hadn't played since Roland Garros where he withdrew in

:17:44. > :17:47.the third round match. He didn't play at Wimbledon. We

:17:48. > :17:55.weren't sure he was going to come here.

:17:56. > :18:01.Was it a risk? I bet he's glad he made it, already a gold medallist

:18:02. > :18:03.again with his best friend Lopez. Now, back level in the semifinal

:18:04. > :19:26.against del Potro. Again, Rafer bossing the point.

:19:27. > :20:29.Using that huge forehand which is working a treat.

:20:30. > :20:41.Ever since he was broken in the opening game, Nadal has seemed to

:20:42. > :20:42.have the edge in this match. He is going to hit the front for the first

:20:43. > :21:17.time. Not quite. He made the move and it

:21:18. > :21:21.looked on for del Potro. You can see Rafa continuing to serve

:21:22. > :21:27.from a star is pretty near the side line.

:21:28. > :21:33.It seems del Potro is bathed in sweat, it is very humid.

:21:34. > :22:01.Although the temperature is not too alarming.

:22:02. > :22:20.Two guys who share problems with their wrist. Rafa has had all sorts

:22:21. > :22:28.of problems but looks to be bouncing back. Winning in Monte Carlo.

:22:29. > :22:32.Beating Andy Murray in the semifinal. If he wins this, he will

:22:33. > :22:38.face him tomorrow. Wawrinka in the quarters, Dominic

:22:39. > :22:48.Thiem, and then he went to Barcelona, winning in that one.

:22:49. > :22:52.Beating Kei Nishikori there. Semifinalist in Madrid.

:22:53. > :22:57.Quarterfinalist in Rome. Then he had to withdraw from Roland Garros and

:22:58. > :23:06.he has been missing ever since. Wouldn't it be strange, because he

:23:07. > :23:08.and Andy were practising together in Rafa's tennis Academy in Majorca a

:23:09. > :23:16.few weeks before this tournament began. And they could beat in the

:23:17. > :23:25.gold medal match tomorrow. -- they could meet.

:23:26. > :24:02.Three successive games now for the Spaniard.

:24:03. > :24:06.UMPIRE: Ladies and gentlemen, this is a tennis event, please respect

:24:07. > :24:11.both players. Thank you.

:24:12. > :24:28.Yes, it is lively, but it has to be a little more controlled.

:24:29. > :25:53.Does anyone hit it harder in the history of tennis?

:25:54. > :26:38.I can't imagine Rafa needed any lifting after the gold medal in the

:26:39. > :26:42.doubles. He was so emotional. He will be emotionally spent. But this

:26:43. > :27:59.atmosphere has got him going very quickly.

:28:00. > :28:10.It just climbed a little on del Potro.

:28:11. > :28:15.It is all about confidence with Nadal. Often, when things weren't

:28:16. > :28:21.going right, way back, from injury, he would talk about confidence in

:28:22. > :28:27.striking the ball, not necessarily winning the ball, -- the match, but

:28:28. > :28:37.confidence in his ability. He seems to be getting that this week.

:28:38. > :28:47.Nadal moves to within one game of this opening set.

:28:48. > :28:56.And so much of that ball striking confidence comes from confidence in

:28:57. > :29:01.the movement. He was making his way back after the knee problems, then

:29:02. > :29:07.the rest, it took time, and it was so frustrating. He was being beaten

:29:08. > :29:12.by people who would normally be privileged to share a court with

:29:13. > :29:13.him. She is certainly soaking up the

:29:14. > :29:30.atmosphere. So, after the rain from the last

:29:31. > :29:43.couple of days, it is a sunshine atmosphere with tennis to match.

:29:44. > :29:48.Del Potro, through after that extraordinary win in the first round

:29:49. > :29:55.against Novak Djokovic. Since then, he dropped a set against his

:29:56. > :30:03.Portuguese opponent, and also against Daniel, the Japanese player

:30:04. > :30:28.who put out Kyle Edmond, winning easily in the end, 6-1, 6-2.

:30:29. > :31:04.Beautiful. Well waited in both senses of the

:31:05. > :31:40.word. Crushing power.

:31:41. > :32:24.Hardly moving before the ball was past him.

:32:25. > :32:28.Using all of his 6ft 6 to great effect.

:32:29. > :33:11.Five aces now for Del Potro. Jumping a little short of Rafa,

:33:12. > :33:15.taking full advantage. It's truly uplifting to see him

:33:16. > :33:48.playing, moving, striking the ball so well.

:33:49. > :34:37.So it is noisy, it is combative, the support but it's great fun too.

:34:38. > :34:41.The sweat is profuse from Nadal. He is having to work very hard. It is

:34:42. > :36:03.very humid. So tough to deal with. You can hear

:36:04. > :36:05.the effort that Nadal is putting in. His top spin exploding off the

:36:06. > :37:21.court. Oh! Divine! Del Potro count have

:37:22. > :37:24.played that a lot better. But he was comfortably second best. Again,

:37:25. > :38:26.Nadal, threading the needle. Del Potro not having much Ann

:38:27. > :38:47.answer. -- an answer.

:38:48. > :38:58.It's not just the forehand of Del Potro that Rafa has to watch.
