:00:00. > :00:36.then, bang, through it goes and Rafa just watched it go.

:00:37. > :00:43.Opening him up on the backhand. Felt the time was right to go to the

:00:44. > :01:11.forehand side. It's close. Gives it a look, but no

:01:12. > :01:40.challenge. So, once more Del Porto will be

:01:41. > :01:55.serving to stay in the opening set. It's not just the calibre of the

:01:56. > :02:01.tennis, the stature of the players, it's what they represent. Two of the

:02:02. > :02:06.most popular tennis players in the last couple of decades. Koelbaek

:02:07. > :02:11.Trow, because the crowd know what he's had to endure with his

:02:12. > :02:21.surgeries that looked like they would take him out of tennis -- Delp

:02:22. > :02:24.Trow. And Nadal because he is a pirate, at the age of 30 there is

:02:25. > :02:32.something quite fresh and dramatic about him -- Delp Trow -- when

:02:33. > :02:40.Martin Del Potro. He has had problems with his knees and now his

:02:41. > :02:48.wrist. Never complains. He just inspires love around the world. I

:02:49. > :02:51.think it is a general truth that Fedor is the most respected tennis

:02:52. > :03:01.player because of what he represents, and he is a good guy,

:03:02. > :03:15.but so much love for Rafa. The two of them, Fedor and the dial, change

:03:16. > :03:28.the face of tennis -- Federer and Nadal. They are huge draws.

:03:29. > :03:38.Del Potro is serving for the second time to stay in the opening set.

:03:39. > :05:07.Just over 50 minutes, we've been going.

:05:08. > :05:17.Yes, it got the line. Del Potro looking down, I think he thought it

:05:18. > :06:03.was going out. Enough top-spin on it to drag it down.

:06:04. > :06:18.So, the mis-hit putting Rafa within two points of the opening set. Such

:06:19. > :06:37.an expensive wind-up. Occasionally it can go wrong, like that.

:06:38. > :06:45.Great defence from Rafa and then his own huge forehand. Immense power,

:06:46. > :07:43.out of nowhere. No. Nadal turned it around. From a

:07:44. > :07:50.break down, he's won the first set, 7-5.

:07:51. > :07:58.STUDIO: So, Nadal is in the driving seat, one more set would get him

:07:59. > :08:03.through to the final against Andy Murray tomorrow. The semifinal

:08:04. > :08:08.continues very shortly over on BBC Four. I will say farewell, that's

:08:09. > :08:13.the end of the afternoon team's shift, I will hand over to the

:08:14. > :08:20.evening team and Claire. The rollers in Rio, it is kind of a samba remix

:08:21. > :08:25.of Super Saturday and the party has started already -- rowers. Fantastic

:08:26. > :08:29.and potentially more gold to come from the evening team.

:08:30. > :08:34.We will be focusing on the velodrome. We heard massive

:08:35. > :08:38.cheering, the tennis stadium is behind us, as Rafa took the first

:08:39. > :08:44.set. That continues on BBC Four. We are going to build up to hopefully

:08:45. > :08:47.another golden night going around in circles. COMMENTATOR: Great Britain

:08:48. > :08:54.making a flying start in the velodrome. Great Britain are in the

:08:55. > :08:59.lead, but only just, it's so close! Coming towards the line and the gold

:09:00. > :09:06.medal goes to Great Britain, the Olympic champions again! What a ride

:09:07. > :09:08.and for the third time in a row, Great Britain are the

:09:09. > :09:13.gold-medallists and Olympic champions in the men's team sprint.

:09:14. > :09:19.It's a world record for Great Britain. And Britain topping the

:09:20. > :09:25.line and they have broken the world record. It's coming down to the last

:09:26. > :09:32.lap here, will it be Britain, Australia? It will be Great Britain,

:09:33. > :09:35.in a world record time. Sensational cycling here in Rio. Brilliant,

:09:36. > :09:46.brilliant stuff. Quite a face to make! Gold so far

:09:47. > :09:53.for Callum Skinner and company and force Bradley Wiggins, Ed Clancy,

:09:54. > :09:56.Owain Doull in the team pursuit. The women's team pursuit, they broke the

:09:57. > :10:02.world record is today and this morning, Laura Trott, Joe Rawal Zol

:10:03. > :10:08.and company, taking on team USA for the gold medal at about 9:14pm --

:10:09. > :10:13.grouse all. High hopes for Becky James in the keirin, that is a very

:10:14. > :10:18.fast and dangerous and exciting race as well. Definitely busier this

:10:19. > :10:21.afternoon than it has been so far at these Olympic Games. You get the

:10:22. > :10:23.feeling they are starting to embrace it here in Rio. Here are the

:10:24. > :10:33.headlines. Great Britain ending the Olympic

:10:34. > :10:36.rowing regatta in style with the men's eight leading from start to

:10:37. > :10:45.finish to win gold, their first since the Sydney Olympics in 2000.

:10:46. > :10:52.And there was a first ever Olympic medal for the Team GB women's eight,

:10:53. > :10:54.taking silver behind the USA, who were winning goal for the third

:10:55. > :11:06.Games in a row. -- winning gold. Andy Murray has booked his place in

:11:07. > :11:11.the Men's Singles final with a straight sets victory over Japan's

:11:12. > :11:15.Kei Nishikori. He will play Nadal or Del Potro who are in progress at the

:11:16. > :11:19.moment. The gold-medal match is tomorrow.

:11:20. > :11:31.And we are in for a thrilling conclusion to the heptathlon,

:11:32. > :11:38.Belgium's Thiam has nudged through, and constant Johnson --

:11:39. > :11:43.Johnson-Thompson is in third place. This is how things look. We will

:11:44. > :11:47.catch up on the rowing action and then I'll be talking to Jazz Carlin

:11:48. > :11:51.after her two Silver Medal is. She'll be joining me. We have the

:11:52. > :11:58.men's sprint quarterfinals from 8pm and then the women's keirin, Becky

:11:59. > :12:03.James, and the team pursuit, 9pm is when you want to tune in for that

:12:04. > :12:09.race. If you want to catch up on everything so far or see some days

:12:10. > :12:16.that have gone by, go to the website and there are 24 sports available in

:12:17. > :12:21.full. As you are aware, it has been a weather disrupted programme at the

:12:22. > :12:25.Lagoa in terms of the rowing. Gold medal is already full the men's four

:12:26. > :12:32.and the women's pair but it finished with the blue ribbons event, the men

:12:33. > :12:42.and women's eight. COMMENTATOR: Gorgeous views down at the Lagoa

:12:43. > :12:50.Stadium. Deep breath. Never been done for the British in the women's

:12:51. > :12:57.eight. This was my one concern, beating the British by half a

:12:58. > :13:01.length. The British are in medal position. Great Britain, in the

:13:02. > :13:07.silver medal position here. The Americans have gone. The Brits are

:13:08. > :13:11.fighting for the silver. The Romanians are coming back, they are

:13:12. > :13:19.level with 100 metres to go. Come on, Britain. Britain going into the

:13:20. > :13:26.record books with a medal. Hang on, girls! They've absolutely done it.

:13:27. > :13:31.I'm so proud of these nine girls, and about 50 more behind us who got

:13:32. > :13:35.us here. I had no doubt, even when we will ask that we would get

:13:36. > :13:39.through. They are strong, sassy and inspirational and I'm so happy to be

:13:40. > :13:44.with them. I couldn't have dreams of a more amazing experience. So, so

:13:45. > :13:53.much trust in every single one of them and now a generation of British

:13:54. > :13:57.rowers, they can believe. We are down now, the peace and tranquillity

:13:58. > :14:05.for the last time and the Lagoa Stadium, which has done its job. --

:14:06. > :14:11.at the. The blue ribbon event leaving the start. This is the way

:14:12. > :14:17.to do it. They can't rest but they will start to think that it is going

:14:18. > :14:20.their way. Glorious shot. Glorious if you are British, they have the

:14:21. > :14:24.fitness and the strength and they know exactly how to quickly go from

:14:25. > :14:30.a to B and this is what they deserve. The Germans are giving it

:14:31. > :14:35.one last push and so are the Netherlands. Just the last couple of

:14:36. > :14:38.strokes and it is Great Britain, the eight are the Olympic champions and

:14:39. > :14:45.that has a fantastic ring about it. What a way to do it, what a race.

:14:46. > :14:51.These guys were magnificent today, absolute gladiators. That was the

:14:52. > :14:59.angry is, the fiercest, that was really good. Everybody you upset by

:15:00. > :15:02.missing your birthday and everything, thank you for putting up

:15:03. > :15:06.with it, basically. Just the amazing bunch of guys, getting us ready for

:15:07. > :15:16.that, that was a big race, I'm speechless.

:15:17. > :15:21.Emotions were definitely running high. James Cracknell with me,

:15:22. > :15:25.double Olympic champion, you heard in commentary, how do you reflect on

:15:26. > :15:28.the rowing at these Olympics in terms of the venue and performances?

:15:29. > :15:34.The venue is outstanding in terms of being a swimming pool with Christ

:15:35. > :15:38.the Redeemer with the Copacabana behind, it is stunning. It is not a

:15:39. > :15:42.man-made lake which made it is open to the element and the fact the sale

:15:43. > :15:45.is so close to the rowing is generally not good because sailors

:15:46. > :15:51.like wind and roars hated. Hibi the toughest venue ever? The crews have

:15:52. > :15:55.faced delays, the New Zealand women's aid raced twice in the same

:15:56. > :16:00.day because everything got slammed together and everything, look at it,

:16:01. > :16:04.there are waking up not sure if they will race and when you miss a day

:16:05. > :16:06.the governing body will try and raise anyway even in an fair

:16:07. > :16:11.condition and if your lane is worse than the one next year is good make

:16:12. > :16:15.for hundreds of the second difference, use or in the dead heats

:16:16. > :16:19.that is a life changer. That effect on the men's eight winning gold,

:16:20. > :16:23.said an introduction this year is regarded as the blue ribbon event at

:16:24. > :16:26.it is a phenomenal thing to get eight men and a Cox that can perform

:16:27. > :16:33.better than anyone else in the world. The Brits have had three wins

:16:34. > :16:36.in the last three World Championships, but last year the

:16:37. > :16:39.best four got taken out and put in the men's four for them to retain

:16:40. > :16:43.the confidence and belief they can beat the Germans, the best eight

:16:44. > :16:46.German rowers, the event they focus on is tremendous, they've beaten

:16:47. > :16:49.them all season and today they did and that is what the Olympics are

:16:50. > :16:55.about and getting it right on that one day every four years, but for

:16:56. > :17:00.many of them, Andy Hodge and others have gold, silver and bronze medals

:17:01. > :17:03.from London in -- and Beijing, they didn't want anything other than

:17:04. > :17:07.gold, those are for years wasted if they did get caught. They pulled it

:17:08. > :17:11.off and I have to congratulate Phelan Hill, that was quite a

:17:12. > :17:14.balancing act. What about the woman, first-ever medal for the eight? The

:17:15. > :17:18.gone through some disruption, there was talk of Kathleen Raine --

:17:19. > :17:23.Katherine Grainger and Vicky Thornley coming in, and you rate

:17:24. > :17:25.that? As a performance, they won their heat, the first time the

:17:26. > :17:31.British women have ever got fired for the final, and because the

:17:32. > :17:34.Americans won the other heat, America the USA and then 500 metres,

:17:35. > :17:39.one quarter of the distance gone there in last place. Suddenly they

:17:40. > :17:43.haven't got the resilience, the Americans have been unbeaten since

:17:44. > :17:47.2005 season they weren't leading they would have had confidence we

:17:48. > :17:51.would get the line whereas the Brits could have said we're in last, maybe

:17:52. > :17:58.it is not on and they didn't crack, they picked the crews off one one

:17:59. > :18:01.and came through and they won that silver, they beat every other crew

:18:02. > :18:04.all the way down, this is the confidence that comes with the

:18:05. > :18:07.history in the event for the Americans that saw them through.

:18:08. > :18:10.Great Britain finished top in the medals table in terms of the

:18:11. > :18:15.regatta, would you say that was a performance that was on par or

:18:16. > :18:20.better than that? The funding of the sport is based on the predictions

:18:21. > :18:24.made, so Britain predicted back in 2012 what we would win into a

:18:25. > :18:31.deserted and we said 6-8, we won five, we are below predictions and

:18:32. > :18:36.the big change is in London we got one gold and two silver, here none

:18:37. > :18:39.made the final, which is where the drop came for the men's four and

:18:40. > :18:44.men's eight winning is phenomenal and for the women's pair, it is

:18:45. > :18:48.expected is a harsh thing because you must deliver it, they've raised

:18:49. > :18:52.incredibly well yesterday, and the way crass and Ricky Thornley and

:18:53. > :18:56.Vicky Thornley raced their file, those of the two best races they've

:18:57. > :19:00.had in the two years and that is phenomenal on the big stage and very

:19:01. > :19:04.rare, it will come back in as good as the most medals, she has medal at

:19:05. > :19:08.five Olympics she's been too and that is for Arman Hall. Fantastic

:19:09. > :19:13.her. There was a moment of controversial maybe that dead heat

:19:14. > :19:16.in the singles sculls and the gold went to Drysdale of New Zealand, did

:19:17. > :19:24.you think he definitely finish in front of Croatia? The thing is, it

:19:25. > :19:28.isn't much I can feel, they put the image up, we did not see the full to

:19:29. > :19:31.finish, they were not given the same time that it because given the same

:19:32. > :19:34.time and my head was awarded the gold but on the big screen they

:19:35. > :19:40.don't put the foot finish up, at the foot of finish and I couldn't tell

:19:41. > :19:46.which way it went, so I thought make them rewrote it. Assuming they both

:19:47. > :19:51.went as hard as they could come up -- as they could, go and do it

:19:52. > :19:56.again. My hair is defending Olympic champion, Martin hasn't got a medal

:19:57. > :20:00.so for him silver come he didn't expect come second. If my hair came

:20:01. > :20:05.second something would have kicked off. Interesting. Ever honest. Thank

:20:06. > :20:09.you so much, brilliant. Great racing, not my commentary. The

:20:10. > :20:14.commentary was pretty good. Focusing in the water now and the first Welsh

:20:15. > :20:17.Olympian to win two medals here at an Olympic Games. Jazz Carlin.

:20:18. > :20:28.All these years I've trained these hours and these early mornings. I've

:20:29. > :20:33.got to tell you, Jazz Carlin looks great. Will's Jazz Carlin in silver

:20:34. > :20:36.medal position and holding well. Wonderful silver medal for Great

:20:37. > :20:46.Britain. A confidence booster list will be. I honestly can't believe

:20:47. > :20:49.it. I'm on the edge of tears. -- I honestly can't believe it. Jazz

:20:50. > :20:53.Carlin is already looking strong and Constable. The deadly blowing the

:20:54. > :20:59.field away, she will blow field away, the second story is the silver

:21:00. > :21:03.medal. 3-way tie now. For that silver and bronze. Jazz Carlin

:21:04. > :21:07.picked up the pace again, silver for climbing, -- for Jazz Carlin. Well

:21:08. > :21:15.done jazz. An incredible feeling to be silver medallist. Not first Welsh

:21:16. > :21:19.Olympian ever but the first 44 years to win two medals at the same games

:21:20. > :21:23.in the -- at the first Welsh woman to win a medal in the pool since

:21:24. > :21:27.1932. Fabulous return, look at those silver medals and such a difference

:21:28. > :21:30.from four years ago when you missed London because you weren't well.

:21:31. > :21:36.Four years ago I was watching on the sidelines cheering and now to be

:21:37. > :21:38.part of the Olympics representing Team GB and come away with two

:21:39. > :21:46.medals I'm over the moon, it feels so real. What will be the moment you

:21:47. > :21:49.remember forever of? For me I was on the common beforehand and I watch

:21:50. > :21:53.Adam Peaty break the world record and win gold and it inspired me to

:21:54. > :21:57.my head goes on before I raced at going and wins over, I was over the

:21:58. > :22:01.moon. With both of your races you had to contend with Katie Ledecky,

:22:02. > :22:06.she has won four gold medals in the pool for the USA, how much you have

:22:07. > :22:09.to think, I'm racing for second or is there a part of you that says,

:22:10. > :22:13.I'm going to try and beat her? It is always difficult when you have

:22:14. > :22:16.someone so incredible in your events, I try and stick to my race

:22:17. > :22:20.plan and obviously I was fighting for those medals, trying to be on

:22:21. > :22:24.the podium and to get my hand on the wall in silver position twice is

:22:25. > :22:29.pretty special, voyeur behind someone so great. And the fastest

:22:30. > :22:34.race ever. I know, the fastest podium swim on a hundred freestyle,

:22:35. > :22:38.so to be part of that and Godinet two solid performances I was really

:22:39. > :22:42.happy. Have you enjoy the experience? Luckily you didn't get

:22:43. > :22:46.lost on a boss like Paul Farnham who mentored athletics arena by mistake

:22:47. > :22:49.and easily final had been delayed. Luckily I had quite a smooth road

:22:50. > :22:54.and enjoyed every minute. I'm enjoying my experience and I'm going

:22:55. > :22:57.to be to James, one of my great friends, to note in the cycling and

:22:58. > :23:00.I have my fingers crossed because I will root for her tonight. The

:23:01. > :23:04.winner times you can do that and still get to the pool does abort

:23:05. > :23:08.Fran. Definitely, they are both on the night and I'm excited, a massive

:23:09. > :23:12.fan of Team GB and we will cheer everyone on for the next week when

:23:13. > :23:16.I'm here. You can enjoy yourself now and I suppose eventually will take

:23:17. > :23:20.the holiday because this has been a long preparation for you, so

:23:21. > :23:24.detailed in the way you got ready for this committee is another oxygen

:23:25. > :23:27.tent at home. Obviously we do a lot at home just to improve by that

:23:28. > :23:31.small margin and it has managed to pay off here to get two silver

:23:32. > :23:34.medals. I haven't got a holiday book but I hope to get one sorted when

:23:35. > :23:38.I'm home and I cannot wait to go away somewhere and put my feet up

:23:39. > :23:42.and relax and celebrate everything. You have swum phenomenally, well

:23:43. > :23:47.done, enjoy watching Becky tonight. I'll see you in the velodrome later.

:23:48. > :23:51.Many thanks to Jazz Carlin, great meet for her and the last night of

:23:52. > :23:55.sleep tonight -- swimming tonight. It finishes off with the medley

:23:56. > :24:01.relay, USA against Great Britain and Adam Peaty going in there. Andy

:24:02. > :24:07.Murray is through to the gold medal match in the tennis. His defence of

:24:08. > :24:08.his Olympic title starting in style and a fabulous rally to give himself

:24:09. > :24:42.his third match point. Watch this. Moriya left sitting on his backside

:24:43. > :24:47.but he knew that gave him a chance to serve once again for a place in

:24:48. > :24:50.the gold medal match. He did it hugely emotionally, you know how

:24:51. > :24:53.much this means Jim, carried the flag at the opening ceremony,

:24:54. > :24:59.desperate to defend title here. It will be either Rafa Nadal -- Rob

:25:00. > :25:05.Elder -- Nadal or Juan Martin Del Potro and they are still in action.

:25:06. > :25:13.It is one each in the second set after Nadal took the first set. This

:25:14. > :25:15.is what Murray said after his win. Congratulations, and Olympic

:25:16. > :25:22.medallist once again. I'm very happy about that, today is a big match and

:25:23. > :25:26.if you lose, obviously mentally you are down and you have to come back

:25:27. > :25:30.the next day to try and win a medal and getting through today guarantees

:25:31. > :25:35.you got one and you get a chance to play for goal. It is a great

:25:36. > :25:38.position to be in, I'm very happy. After the scare you give us

:25:39. > :25:42.yesterday you look much more comfortable today, the penultimate

:25:43. > :25:45.point at the crowd on its feet, what was your assessment of the match? I

:25:46. > :25:52.played a really good match, the last game obviously got quite tense, he

:25:53. > :25:59.played a couple of great points, one break point on the first match

:26:00. > :26:07.point, second match point, sorry. Obviously the Jews point was our

:26:08. > :26:10.lucky shot at the end. -- douce. I'm sure. Plenty of practice behind

:26:11. > :26:15.that. The other thing is Great Britain are up to third in the medal

:26:16. > :26:19.table, another gold in rowing and silver this morning. As flag bearer

:26:20. > :26:23.for the team, how much would it mean to add a gold to the tally tomorrow?

:26:24. > :26:29.It would mean a lot, that was a huge honour for me, I was very proud to

:26:30. > :26:34.get the chance to do that, the team has done extremely well over the

:26:35. > :26:40.last few days, especially. I'm happy I've added a medal to the tally so

:26:41. > :26:46.far, hopefully I can make it a gold one tomorrow but some amazing

:26:47. > :26:50.achievements from everyone in the team and are very proud to be part

:26:51. > :26:58.of it. Best of luck defending your title. Thank you. Catherine was the

:26:59. > :27:03.questions there, let's get the very latest on Rafa Nadal against Juan

:27:04. > :27:05.Martin Del Potro. This is live on BBC Four. Nishikori will go to a

:27:06. > :27:17.bronze medal match against whoever loses this match. It looks from the

:27:18. > :27:24.scoreboard like Del Porto is 2-1 up on serve. We will hope many of you

:27:25. > :27:27.get up in the early hours of the morning to continue watching the

:27:28. > :27:33.heptathlon, effectively this is Super Saturday, turning something

:27:34. > :27:37.into an early super Sunday. Three heptathlon events last night,

:27:38. > :27:39.Jessica Ennis-Hill was leading in defence of her title, Katarina

:27:40. > :27:57.Johnson-Thompson sitting in third, the big danger is Belgian's nappy

:27:58. > :28:01.TM. -- Siam Dott Diame -- Thiam. Katarina Johnson-Thompson a lifetime

:28:02. > :28:05.best first day yesterday in fourth place, first event in Longdon. That

:28:06. > :28:09.is a decent jump for Katarina Johnson-Thompson, the white flag

:28:10. > :28:13.raised. 6.51 in round one, not great, she is capable of better.

:28:14. > :28:19.Jessica Ennis-Hill. Leader overnight. A decent jump, 6.34 into

:28:20. > :28:26.a strong wind, good stuff for Jessica Ennis-Hill, reigning Olympic

:28:27. > :28:32.champion. Thiam. It is massive, look at that? Must have been over the

:28:33. > :28:38.board. Into round two, Brianne Theisen-Eaton, it is a valid jump.

:28:39. > :28:43.Katarina Johnson-Thompson in the second round, that is a big effort,

:28:44. > :28:48.but it is a foul unfortunately. Johnson-Thompson, last round. It

:28:49. > :28:55.isn't quite what we would have wanted. Jessica Ennis-Hill, third

:28:56. > :29:00.jump in the long jump, she needs a big jump here, but if it came down

:29:01. > :29:06.early. Here's Johnny Miller cello's reaction. Not happy. He knew that

:29:07. > :29:11.was a chance to put daylight between her and the rest of the world. --

:29:12. > :29:15.her coach's reaction. That is better, she likes it, 6.5 eight.

:29:16. > :29:25.That will give Ennis-Hill something to think about. With the javelin and

:29:26. > :29:27.800 metres to come later tonight, Thiam leads, Ennis-Hill is the

:29:28. > :29:31.second and Katarina Johnson-Thompson is in third, it will be a

:29:32. > :29:35.nail-biting finish today had taken on here in Rio. Sticking with the

:29:36. > :29:42.long jump and specifically Longdon, Gregory Havret -- Greg Rutherford

:29:43. > :29:45.snuck into the final. This was his final qualification jump, he had to

:29:46. > :29:49.know jumps and it was enough to see him finish tenth out of 12 and his

:29:50. > :29:59.final as he defends his title would get underway just before 1am. He had

:30:00. > :30:03.to get it right, he did it. He is currently the holder of every long

:30:04. > :30:05.jump title that exists and determined to win another gold medal

:30:06. > :30:17.here in Rio. The main man in the 100 metres got

:30:18. > :30:23.underway earlier today. He has been visiting the fabulous here in Rio,

:30:24. > :30:35.and riding the bus, but this is what he came here for, the hundred

:30:36. > :30:43.metres, and comfortable enough. Favelas. James Dasaolu finished in

:30:44. > :30:48.third and he goes through as one of the fastest losers. Jo Pavey is

:30:49. > :30:53.competing at her fifth Olympics, how are you? Fine, thanks. Were you

:30:54. > :31:01.happy, your season's best? I would like to run quicker but I have had a

:31:02. > :31:08.good season. I'm glad to be soaking it up, I enjoyed it and I gave it my

:31:09. > :31:11.all. Crazy race but I enjoyed it. If you are giving advice to anyone

:31:12. > :31:17.competing at their first Olympics, what would you say about it? Keep

:31:18. > :31:21.trying, at school I dreamt of going to the Olympic Games and I never

:31:22. > :31:24.thought I'd be doing five. Just learn along the way, I learned a lot

:31:25. > :31:31.about what works for me and what didn't work. At my age I can use my

:31:32. > :31:35.experience. When I was younger I was a bit inexperienced, kept getting

:31:36. > :31:37.injured, thought I'd always be injured, but finding ways of

:31:38. > :31:43.overcoming injury. Don't give up, follow your dreams. Your event is

:31:44. > :31:48.particularly painful, so are you thinking that it hurts, or do you

:31:49. > :31:54.think it's fun? I try and keep track of the pace, I have my lap times

:31:55. > :31:58.memorised, I try and keep relaxed and stale my feet, so many people

:31:59. > :32:04.fall down when there is 37 people like we had yesterday -- on my feet.

:32:05. > :32:07.Keep relaxed but push hard when it starts to hurt, especially that

:32:08. > :32:13.race, it's the Olympic Games, give everything. Dig deep. In the

:32:14. > :32:19.cycling, the code stands that it held the team with their feet,

:32:20. > :32:23.whether they are up or down, but you don't have anybody helping you, so

:32:24. > :32:26.do you look at the clock? Some people were confused about how many

:32:27. > :32:33.laps they had left. Because the leader was so far clear? Because the

:32:34. > :32:36.leader broke the record by so much. Some people misjudged how many laps

:32:37. > :32:40.they had left, it was really confusing. Because I had an

:32:41. > :32:44.awareness of where I should be, I knew how many laps I had but it was

:32:45. > :32:49.a confusing picture even for people watching. We switch attention to

:32:50. > :32:53.another great distance runner tonight with Mo Farah, who was part

:32:54. > :33:02.of that amazing trio of gold medals on Super Saturday four years ago.

:33:03. > :33:16.Yes, did the job. How did you find running, how did it find you? I

:33:17. > :33:22.always loved football, in Somalia when I was a kid, we would get a lot

:33:23. > :33:26.of socks and we would play with it, like a football, going down the

:33:27. > :33:33.street and having a kick around and that was it. I had quite a lot of

:33:34. > :33:38.energy from just running around. We joined our Father in Britain, he was

:33:39. > :33:44.in the UK, we moved here, the age of eight, not speaking a word of

:33:45. > :33:48.English. Was it tough? It was tough, you get through it and it has helped

:33:49. > :33:56.me, to be who I am and to be grateful for what I'm doing. Some of

:33:57. > :34:02.those experiences when you are young kids, good or bad, it shapes you

:34:03. > :34:07.today and not just as a runner, but as a father and a man. Sometimes it

:34:08. > :34:11.is hard, I am a father of four kids and when you are away from them.

:34:12. > :34:16.Much time, it's difficult. The best thing for me, winning medals and

:34:17. > :34:27.continuing winning medals, then it's worth the sacrifice and that's what

:34:28. > :34:34.really drives me. 2006, 2007, got this great potential and I'm going,

:34:35. > :34:39.OK, yeah, when is it going to come and in 2008 you make the final and

:34:40. > :34:43.then the Olympic Games in London, amazing performance. You've been

:34:44. > :34:47.dominating since then. What was the difference in realising that

:34:48. > :34:51.potential? A lot of stuff I was missing, I was missing a coach who

:34:52. > :34:56.could help me to the next level and mentally, someone who could talk to

:34:57. > :35:02.you. Alberto has done a lot in terms of changing me as an athlete. There

:35:03. > :35:07.was obviously some tough times in the past, Alberto Salazar

:35:08. > :35:13.investigation, take me through what you were thinking and how you dealt

:35:14. > :35:16.with that situation. To be honest I was very disappointed, the way that

:35:17. > :35:22.the media turned against me, writing so many never give -- negative

:35:23. > :35:27.articles. I wasn't in control. I tried to be honest, tell the truth.

:35:28. > :35:31.If there's any allegation against Alberto and it has come true and he

:35:32. > :35:37.has crossed the line, I'm the first one out. Over the last four years,

:35:38. > :35:44.every championship you go to as the favourite. Do you like that? I like

:35:45. > :35:48.that. I think I'm the favourite and I've done well in the past going in

:35:49. > :35:54.as the favourite. A lot of athletes don't like that position. I liked

:35:55. > :35:58.it. I like it. What is it you like about being the favourite, the

:35:59. > :36:02.confidence boost? Definitely the confidence boost, believing in

:36:03. > :36:09.myself, knowing I'm a better athlete than I was four, five years ago. Mo

:36:10. > :36:13.Farah, looking to become Britain's's first ever three-time Olympic

:36:14. > :36:18.champion in athletics. He will go tonight, just after 1am. Jo knows

:36:19. > :36:22.all about running ten kilometres. How difficult is it for Mo Farah if

:36:23. > :36:27.the others gang up against him because it can be a difficult race

:36:28. > :36:32.tactically? Mo Farah is the favourite and he can be competitive,

:36:33. > :36:36.he can run fast, he has the powerful finish, it has been very hard for

:36:37. > :36:40.anyone else to beat him. His preparations have gone well, he has

:36:41. > :36:45.been at altitude putting in the work and he has come to the village in

:36:46. > :36:48.relaxed form. We saw him getting a mass art, he was happy with how

:36:49. > :36:54.things went. Fingers crossed for the historic race -- mass art. How much

:36:55. > :37:02.does the success of the rowers, the swimmers and divers rub off on the

:37:03. > :37:09.body else? Yes, the team have been doing amazingly, we have a big chart

:37:10. > :37:15.for Team GB, the gold medals and the camaraderie and spirit have been

:37:16. > :37:19.amazing. For me, soaking up the atmosphere, everyone has been doing

:37:20. > :37:24.so well, we are getting a record medal tally for the away Games.

:37:25. > :37:29.Spirit is very high in the camp. Are you going to the track tonight to

:37:30. > :37:35.cheer them on? I am planning to, it is strange to be finished so soon.

:37:36. > :37:40.For it to be over on the first morning, I can go to the stadium and

:37:41. > :37:44.I can go and cheerful Mo Farah and also Andy and Ross. After all you've

:37:45. > :37:49.done for British athletics, I think you deserve to enjoy the rest of the

:37:50. > :37:53.Olympics! I'm going home midway through because of the kids, but

:37:54. > :37:58.I've really enjoyed being part of the team, the youngsters that are

:37:59. > :38:03.half my age! They inspire me, we have a great team and I'm loving it

:38:04. > :38:07.and soaking it in. Lovely to see you again. And you, Cheers. Let me take

:38:08. > :38:11.you through the timetable for the athletics if you're planning to stay

:38:12. > :38:20.up or going to bed and getting up again.

:38:21. > :38:34.The men's long jump, Greg Rutherford defending his title. The ten K: Mo

:38:35. > :38:40.Farah. And then the final event for the women's heptathlon, the 800

:38:41. > :38:49.metres. Could it be Super Saturday all over again? When I meet someone

:38:50. > :38:52.for the first time, a lot of them tell me where they were on Super

:38:53. > :38:59.Saturday. People want to be a part of that night. Crossing the line and

:39:00. > :39:05.having my family. The atmosphere was incredible, it is a new experience.

:39:06. > :39:08.I'll never experience it in my entire life. Knowing that I put

:39:09. > :39:20.those events together and it had gone right, amazing feeling. That

:39:21. > :39:27.gold medal changed everything. Did that really happen?

:39:28. > :39:36.Super Saturday becomes sensational early morning Sunday. Four years ago

:39:37. > :39:40.they won those gold medals in the space of 44 minutes, you won't have

:39:41. > :39:44.to stay up for long but it will be worth it! Let's go to the water and

:39:45. > :39:49.join Shelley Robinson for an update on the sailing. A lot is happening

:39:50. > :39:55.today and I can hardly keep up. Next story for Team GB, Giles Scott, who

:39:56. > :40:01.has one more day before his medal race and today he was on flying

:40:02. > :40:05.form, first and third and now he is 16 points clear of his nearest

:40:06. > :40:08.competitor. If he goes 20 points clear he will have won the gold

:40:09. > :40:13.medal already. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. He'll be happy to have had

:40:14. > :40:19.a strong day and consolidating his spot. Nick Thompson in the men's

:40:20. > :40:23.single-handed, the laser class, the final day before his medal race. He

:40:24. > :40:30.is in bronze position but it is very tight at the top, I'm looking

:40:31. > :40:39.forward to the final, it is going to be a battle to the end. At my side

:40:40. > :40:44.is the women laser, Alison Young is showing a good bit of form.

:40:45. > :40:53.Generally, how are the conditions because in the park we have a bit of

:40:54. > :40:57.wind. It is a peachy day here, it is 40 knots, sunny, it is lovely. Many

:40:58. > :41:04.of the fleets have been racing in the Atlantic Ocean. It is like two

:41:05. > :41:09.different venues, it is quite a place. Here, a lot of shifting and

:41:10. > :41:18.flat water butt out there, massive seas, so we've seen it all in Rio --

:41:19. > :41:22.but out there. We were worried about the quality of water for the sailing

:41:23. > :41:26.but we didn't note the talking point would be the talking point at the

:41:27. > :41:33.diving. Leon Taylor is there, we have Grace Reid in an event in Masoe

:41:34. > :41:40.bring us up to date on that and the colour of the diving pool. She has

:41:41. > :41:44.some work to do. The good news is that there is 18 women in the

:41:45. > :41:50.semifinal and be cut down to 12, so if Grace goes up a gear, she will be

:41:51. > :41:54.in the final. You can see behind me that the pool is still green,

:41:55. > :41:58.looking more like a pond. The nearest colour I've come up with,

:41:59. > :42:06.suggested to me, a bit like the Manchester shipping canal, colour

:42:07. > :42:10.wise. Great stuff, thank you. You can follow the diving on its own.

:42:11. > :42:16.Let's get an update on the tennis, Nadal against Dell four, the winner

:42:17. > :42:25.playing Andy Murray in the gold final match. -- against Del Potro.

:42:26. > :42:32.The winner will play Andy Murray in the final. Golf, reintroduced to the

:42:33. > :42:35.Olympics and fair to say that nobody, certainly from Britain or

:42:36. > :42:40.Europe embraced it more warmly than Justin Rose and he currently leads

:42:41. > :42:46.on 12 under par from the open champion, Henrik Stenson. Let's pick

:42:47. > :43:12.it up with Justin Rose on the 17th of his third round.

:43:13. > :43:18.COMMENTATOR: Well, he is on the putting surface but he is some

:43:19. > :43:44.distance from the pin. Justin Rose, leading the tournament

:43:45. > :43:55.at 12-under par. Cabrera bellow has the 8-iron -- Cabrera Bello. The

:43:56. > :44:01.wind is into the face of the golfers on the 17th tee and they will be

:44:02. > :44:09.also on the 18th. Drilling it in, the flatter trajectory from the

:44:10. > :44:28.Spaniard. That's in the sand. Back to 16. Fraser.

:44:29. > :45:04.Ooh. Stop pretty quickly. Wanted another skip on there. -- stopped.

:45:05. > :45:09.The reaction of Henrik Stenson, frustrated that there wasn't a bit

:45:10. > :45:22.less action on the ball. Needed to get up a bit. Now, Rose. Inside the

:45:23. > :45:29.Green, still a birdie chance on 17. The leader by one, from Stenson.

:45:30. > :45:47.This is to go two clear. He's given it a chance, Justin Rose.

:45:48. > :45:52.Yesterday Marcus Fraser had a similar shop here, pitched it to the

:45:53. > :46:03.top of the mount on the ball rolled all the way back. It was an error

:46:04. > :46:08.and he bogeyed in round two map. A little short with that one as well,

:46:09. > :46:15.not his best. Far from his best, it will roll away again. This is a bit

:46:16. > :46:29.of a nightmare hole for Marcus Fraser, pretty elementary chip shot.

:46:30. > :46:36.Stenson with a birdie at 16. He didn't enjoy the trip, I saw his

:46:37. > :46:46.frustration. For him it was not his best by some distance. -- chip. He

:46:47. > :46:53.now has this for birdie. Once again draw level with Justin Rose at 12

:46:54. > :47:04.under. If he does it will be a three shot gap between them and Fraser.

:47:05. > :47:15.And then six and is tied for fourth. -- six under. Justin Rose has this

:47:16. > :47:26.for par Stenson deliberates his breed at 16. Leader by one. -- is

:47:27. > :47:40.read. Justin Rose stays on 12-under. One left to play. He stays at

:47:41. > :47:50.12-under par. Stenson, this putt for birdie on 16. To draw level with

:47:51. > :48:00.Britain's Justin Rose. Henrik Stenson, Sweden, for birdie on 16.

:48:01. > :48:13.That is a chance missed her Stenson -- for Stenson, so par on 16. More

:48:14. > :48:16.than the putt it was the chip he let himself down with. He needed to get

:48:17. > :48:42.the ball closer. Hitting a big draw into the 18th

:48:43. > :48:50.fairway. It will be just fine. Skirting a little to the left. It

:48:51. > :48:56.looked like it was on a good line. Maybe a little too much draw.

:48:57. > :49:05.Fraser makes his par. Remainers 9-under.

:49:06. > :49:41.And also a slight draw down the 18th.

:49:42. > :49:52.Gregory Bourdy has continued to slip back. He now finds himself on

:49:53. > :50:00.6-under, tied for fourth with Bubba Watson amongst others David

:50:01. > :50:07.Lingmerth, Emiliano Grillo, all players currently on 6-under.

:50:08. > :50:23.But the leaderboard looking, it has really changed its complexion. Top

:50:24. > :50:29.11 golfers down to 5-under par, seven shots between 11th place and

:50:30. > :50:52.Justin Rose on 12-under. Stenson, having missed out on his

:50:53. > :51:04.birdie on 16. Now I'm 17. -- now on 17.

:51:05. > :51:17.They made the mistake yesterday and he was furious with himself when he

:51:18. > :51:22.was short here on this shortest of the par threes on this golf course

:51:23. > :51:30.and he came up short and landed it in the sand. The pain was just over

:51:31. > :51:36.the front bunker. -- the pin. The wind has picked up, it is quite

:51:37. > :51:44.strong into their faces. Stenson trailing by one.

:51:45. > :52:00.It is directly, directly five, three yards left. The degree of difficulty

:52:01. > :52:04.of this entire course is almost exclusively dependent on the pin

:52:05. > :52:12.placings on their screens, it has been well thought out by the

:52:13. > :52:18.designer. He set it up to be a Championship course. It has been an

:52:19. > :52:26.intriguing test for the golfers. Some of whom have dominated on

:52:27. > :52:37.certain days. Stenson with the penultimate on day three.

:52:38. > :52:53.That is OK. It isn't bad. It was on the right line.

:52:54. > :52:59.You get them everywhere in the crowd. They shouted that Bubba

:53:00. > :53:31.Watson and it did go in the hole. CROWD: Go Justin! Not the worst mess

:53:32. > :53:37.by Justin Rose. Off the sand. Decent life. Just picked it up nicely,

:53:38. > :53:41.needed to get it down the fairway because no one with a headline --

:53:42. > :53:47.Edwin Poots realistically get it on in two. Couple might get it close.

:53:48. > :53:55.-- headwind. You wonder if Stenson might try. Justin Rose has gone the

:53:56. > :53:59.fair leading by one. He had two eagles today, Justin Rose. Henrik

:54:00. > :54:02.Stenson has only just started breaking his run together. Bubba

:54:03. > :54:08.Watson made a great charge and Rickie Fowler with the biggest move

:54:09. > :54:22.of the day. Cabrera Bello just dropping down the leaderboard.

:54:23. > :54:34.Thomas Pieters started at 9-under and is currently under. 6-over par.

:54:35. > :54:48.A hole in one at 84 this African. , Jack van Zyl. Roope Kakko how good

:54:49. > :54:54.solid spell of birdies. A little disappointing for incredibly

:54:55. > :55:00.talented Korean youngster, the youngest player. Justin Rose found

:55:01. > :55:06.the sand with his tee shot at 18, par-5 finishing hole, the wind has

:55:07. > :55:09.changed direction completely, it is an elevated green with a couple of

:55:10. > :55:15.hollows in front of it, just the one bunker on the back right. That has

:55:16. > :55:20.collected a number of polls that have gone off the back, and the pin

:55:21. > :55:34.on the back right. The hollows have been collecting areas. How many

:55:35. > :55:47.behind it? Seven. Do you know what? I will with this. It is a 68... I'm

:55:48. > :56:00.not even worried about it. It first. -- hit it first.

:56:01. > :56:21.Third shot to 18, Justin Rose, tournament leader. Dear, that is an

:56:22. > :56:25.miss, a big miss from Justin Rose. Not even pitch the green or the

:56:26. > :56:35.slope. Short of the green, hit the slope and kicked to the right.

:56:36. > :56:43.Please put the phones away. Set -- Stenson and 17. -- at 17. Lining up

:56:44. > :57:12.his birdie. It has got enough. Just not enough.

:57:13. > :57:13.Not convinced it had the right line, but certainly not firm enough from

:57:14. > :57:47.Henrik Stenson. Trucking down with a little punt and

:57:48. > :57:56.flies it onto the front, but it won't hold. It spins back off the

:57:57. > :57:59.front. Rose landing short and Bourdy failing to get it to hold. On the

:58:00. > :58:33.18th. Back at 17, Fraser for par. Up ahead on 18, Cabrera Bello, 94

:58:34. > :58:46.yards, 86 metres to the pin. High from the Spaniard. Justin Rose

:58:47. > :58:58.coming up short with his third year than last. -- here at last.

:58:59. > :59:09.Introduced by the tournament announcer, gets a big cheer, his

:59:10. > :59:33.playing partners as well. Gregory Bourdy and Rafa Cabrera Bello.

:59:34. > :59:41.Cabrera Bello safely on the 18th green. Rose and Bourdy looking to

:59:42. > :59:49.get up but on the 18th tee is Stenson. Sorry, we've got to pull

:59:50. > :59:52.away from the golf and I will ignore how Justin Rose finishes Ofcom he's

:59:53. > :59:57.leading on 12-under par with one more round to come. Chris Hoey and I

:59:58. > :00:01.are here at the velodrome because we have exciting quarterfinals and

:00:02. > :00:03.semifinals tonight at the men's sprint at the two fastest

:00:04. > :00:10.qualifiers, both British, Jason Kenny and Calum Skinner.

:00:11. > :00:23.Jason has looked an imperious form. Callan must be Jason's biggest

:00:24. > :00:29.threat. No worries in the semifinal. The Chinese riders, completing

:00:30. > :00:32.against Callum, I think he's happy to make it to the last eight. It is

:00:33. > :00:37.the knockout stage, the best of three. If they make a mistake they

:00:38. > :00:42.will have a second chance but if they lose in the best of free ride,

:00:43. > :00:47.they are out of the competition and they will be competing in the 5-8

:00:48. > :00:51.final. Quarterfinals and semifinals tonight and the semifinal tomorrow.

:00:52. > :00:57.That's unusual, normally you have the eight finals and the

:00:58. > :01:01.quarterfinals on one day. Quite a lot of racing today. They are used

:01:02. > :01:05.to that. It means that tomorrow will be quite unusual to come straight

:01:06. > :01:09.into the final without any racing before that. Jason Kenny is the most

:01:10. > :01:13.amazing athlete when it comes to the big event. He's just able to treat

:01:14. > :01:20.it like anything else and not let the pressure get to him, not do

:01:21. > :01:24.anything different. Callum Skinner. Callum equally, his first Olympics

:01:25. > :01:28.at 23, he was called to the team relatively late and he has dealt

:01:29. > :01:31.with the pressure incredibly well. The man who is taking on Jason

:01:32. > :01:39.Kenney, Patrick Constable of Australia. We have the women's team

:01:40. > :01:45.pursuit finals, Great Britain in the world record race and also the

:01:46. > :01:50.keirin final. Medals won't be decided here today, but Callum

:01:51. > :01:57.Skinner and Jason Kenney must keep on winning. COMMENTATOR: The first

:01:58. > :02:03.quarterfinal is a minute or two away. Looking at Jason Kenney, who,

:02:04. > :02:06.of course, has a Gold Medal in his back pocket already from the team

:02:07. > :02:15.sprint on the first night of competition. He has looked very

:02:16. > :02:21.sharp in the qualifying, setting an Olympic record and also in the first

:02:22. > :02:33.round. In the first round he won very convincingly. Constable, he was

:02:34. > :02:39.good, he gave Callum Skinner a run for his money and he had to come

:02:40. > :02:43.back through the repechage. Tactically, going extremely well. I

:02:44. > :02:50.think he's got his work cut out now. That's for sure. Both riders came

:02:51. > :02:55.into cycling through talent ID programmes in their respective

:02:56. > :03:07.countries. Jason Kenney, from Bolton. Getting a good cheer from

:03:08. > :03:13.the crowd. -- Kenny. Constable is far less experienced, just 20 years

:03:14. > :03:17.old, from South Australia, a former serving life saver. Spotted by the

:03:18. > :03:26.Australian talent ID programme, doing very well in the tests and

:03:27. > :03:34.look at him now, the former world junior champion competing in the

:03:35. > :03:40.match sprint. Jason Kenny here. It is a three lap race. Interesting to

:03:41. > :03:48.see how Constable chooses to take it on. I think he would have to make it

:03:49. > :03:52.a tactical race. Jason has the bigger engine, I think he's proven

:03:53. > :03:55.that quite conclusively to this point in the competition so I

:03:56. > :04:02.imagine he'd want to get his nose in front. Jason, perhaps not so keen

:04:03. > :04:07.for that to happen. So I think we can look forward to a lively race.

:04:08. > :04:11.The best of three between these two. When you get to the last eight, all

:04:12. > :04:18.of the sprint races are best of three. Because they qualified the

:04:19. > :04:22.way they did, we hope the British riders don't meet each other until

:04:23. > :04:26.later on. I won't put the curse on it yet by making any kind of

:04:27. > :04:30.prediction. I did that yesterday with the team pursuit, saying that

:04:31. > :04:34.Ed Clancy was the best starter in the world and he wobbled out of the

:04:35. > :04:39.box. Don't talk about the women's team pursuit until they've got out

:04:40. > :04:44.on the track. Jason Kenny is out front. You need eyes on the back of

:04:45. > :04:47.your head, that is a rider's dies of you looking back to Patrick

:04:48. > :04:54.Constable, the young Australian. -- eyes. Jason Kenny is going to take

:04:55. > :04:59.the sprint from the front and Constable is going to do it, he can

:05:00. > :05:03.get good height on the track, he's going very high but not getting

:05:04. > :05:08.anywhere near Jason Kenny, who has a lot of daylight, taking the first

:05:09. > :05:12.ride in the quarterfinal. Constable went to the top of the track. Jason

:05:13. > :05:17.Kenny was just riding off onto the distance. Jason was sucking him in,

:05:18. > :05:21.bringing him close and that's exactly what he wanted, leaving him

:05:22. > :05:28.no room to manoeuvre and he dictated the pace throughout. Constable just

:05:29. > :05:32.pulled him up onto the wheel. There was nothing he could do. Jason chose

:05:33. > :05:37.the moment he was going to accelerate. He got the Kite on the

:05:38. > :05:42.track but that cost him distance and it was too late. I would have

:05:43. > :05:48.expected a slightly better tactical performance from him. Certainly

:05:49. > :05:54.delighted for Jason Kenny. So far, so good, for Jason Kenny, leading

:05:55. > :06:00.1-0. Just one win away from a place in the last four which will be in

:06:01. > :06:09.this session as well. Next onto the track, Callum Skinner. He really

:06:10. > :06:17.was, cometh the hour, cometh the man in the sprint final. Getting in

:06:18. > :06:21.through the repechage. He was up against Constable and the time did

:06:22. > :06:29.beautifully, waiting and waiting until the last banking before he

:06:30. > :06:35.launched his effort. Coming by a tenth of a second. Up against Xu

:06:36. > :06:40.Chao from China, the 21-year-old. Three silver medals in the Asian

:06:41. > :06:46.Championships earlier this year, beaten by a Korean in the final in

:06:47. > :06:49.the sprint. Callum Skinner, like Jason Kenny, has looked extremely

:06:50. > :06:57.sharp so far in this sprint competition. Three laps of the track

:06:58. > :07:00.in this best of 3/4-final. Callum Skinner did well in the match sprint

:07:01. > :07:06.in the World Championships, the fifth fastest qualifier in London

:07:07. > :07:09.and making it to the last eight where he was beaten by Denis

:07:10. > :07:14.Dmitriev, no disgrace in losing to the Russian who has been a medallist

:07:15. > :07:19.in each event over the last four years. Perhaps an overused term but

:07:20. > :07:24.if there is a dark horse, Denis Dmitriev is looking very strong in

:07:25. > :07:32.the second round ride. He is a wily competitor. Callum Skinner already

:07:33. > :07:37.having a dream Games here. It's all about seeing how far you can go. You

:07:38. > :07:42.wouldn't put it past him to get to the finals. Xu Chao, then, the

:07:43. > :07:52.Chinese rider, leading from the front. Skinner, high up on the track

:07:53. > :07:56.as they take the bell. And now the gap starts to close and look how

:07:57. > :07:59.quickly it closes. Callum Skinner is able to draw level as they go around

:08:00. > :08:06.the bank and into the final straight. He should ease through to

:08:07. > :08:10.win and he does so in fine style. That was a superb ride by Callum

:08:11. > :08:16.Skinner. He is all confidence and speed. Both British riders are yet

:08:17. > :08:20.to lose a match. Really strong performances. It must be

:08:21. > :08:23.demoralising for the competition. He already had him on the back

:08:24. > :08:28.straight, just cruising around the outside. He'll know the too that he

:08:29. > :08:32.has the pace coming around. When he is already moving forward in the

:08:33. > :08:37.banking, despite going three metres further, there's no way he was going

:08:38. > :08:41.to lose. Just under 200 metres to go, you could see what was going to

:08:42. > :08:46.happen. Excellent from Callum Skinner and Jason Kenny so far.

:08:47. > :08:53.Confirmation, the best of 3/4-final, heat two, Callum Skinner leading Xu

:08:54. > :09:02.Chao of China. STUDIO: Two morph heats to come. To bring you up to

:09:03. > :09:06.date on Justin Rose, his par putt on 18 -- two more. Just going in the

:09:07. > :09:12.side. That means he stays on 12-under, he is leading. Henrik

:09:13. > :09:18.Stenson, still out on the course, his closest competitor. The final

:09:19. > :09:22.round is tomorrow. What about the tennis? This is Del Potro, serving

:09:23. > :09:29.to level it up against Rafael Nadal. Which he does, 1-1, so they go to

:09:30. > :09:34.the third set decider. That's an BBC Four, the winner faces Andy Murray.

:09:35. > :09:44.Not such good news for Chris and Gabby Adcock, playing against their

:09:45. > :09:50.Polish opponents, who won it and the Adcocks are out of the Olympics. So,

:09:51. > :09:58.back to the men's spreads heat. We have Australia against Germany.

:09:59. > :10:06.COMMENTATOR: Eilers from Germany, a double world champion in the kilo

:10:07. > :10:09.and the keirin. And Matthew Glaetzer from Germany, silver-medallist in

:10:10. > :10:23.the World Championship in this event. Glaetzer is very much the man

:10:24. > :10:33.to keep an eye on. Going very quickly considering he was coming

:10:34. > :10:37.from the bottom. Eilers is a wily competitor and he timed his run to

:10:38. > :10:43.win his heat. It all came right for Eilers in the one kilometre in

:10:44. > :10:49.London, taking the Gold Medal after a bronze and two silvers in the

:10:50. > :10:53.three years preceding it. Finally a world champion. He added the keirin

:10:54. > :11:00.title to it as well. Doesn't want to hang about, the German taking up the

:11:01. > :11:06.track. Forced to increase the speed to keep control of this one. He is

:11:07. > :11:12.being carried by Eilers here. Much quicker pace about this one.

:11:13. > :11:17.Glaetzer riding from the front. Eilers with that big gear of his, a

:11:18. > :11:21.very powerful rider. Perhaps doesn't quite have the jump of the

:11:22. > :11:24.Australian rider as Glaetzer leads them out and then goes to the bottom

:11:25. > :11:30.of the track, making sure that the door was left open. Eilers almost up

:11:31. > :11:33.to the back wheel but he can't get any closer and Matthew Glaetzer now

:11:34. > :11:41.keeps the distance and makes sure that he stays in front. For him, a

:11:42. > :11:45.comfortable 1-0 lead. Great ride by the Australian, controlling it all

:11:46. > :11:50.the way. He's a fiery competitor, great bike handler and he kept the

:11:51. > :11:53.race down the bottom of the track, keeping the speed high, never giving

:11:54. > :11:59.him a chance to get ahead. He gave us a bit of a fright in Colombia in

:12:00. > :12:02.the World Championships, he crashed halfway down the finishing straight

:12:03. > :12:07.and his bike flipped up into the air and nearly landed in the commentary

:12:08. > :12:12.position! Maybe we'll hear more about it later. We saw more about it

:12:13. > :12:22.in the women's keirin earlier today. Some spectacular crashes. And some

:12:23. > :12:25.spectacular riding to avoid it, and some great riding by one of the

:12:26. > :12:33.Dutch women. Denis Dmitriev, of whom we were speaking a couple of moments

:12:34. > :12:41.ago, the experienced rider, in a repeat of the Championship finalist

:12:42. > :12:44.at -- final last year. Bauge is a four time world champion in this

:12:45. > :12:51.particular discipline, most recently last year. Nine world titles but

:12:52. > :12:55.he's still looking for an elusive first Olympic Gold Medal, stuck on

:12:56. > :13:04.three silvers and a bronze, which he got in the first evening of

:13:05. > :13:11.competition here, France finishing in third place behind Britain. Both

:13:12. > :13:18.two have gone round the block a view times. Bauge has had some successes

:13:19. > :13:25.in recent years, he hasn't found the form just recently -- a few times.

:13:26. > :13:28.Going well, here. Bitterly disappointed to miss out on gold in

:13:29. > :13:34.the team sprint competition. You can see the straps they are using,

:13:35. > :13:41.getting a bit more aerodynamic. They are clipped in using standard cleats

:13:42. > :13:48.on the pedals. They are putting down so much power, 2000 watts, these

:13:49. > :13:55.guys, they need extra security. Denis Dmitriev, two silvers and two

:13:56. > :14:00.bronze medals from the World Championships. Winning a medal in

:14:01. > :14:05.each of the last four years. And Gregory Bauge was the rider beaten

:14:06. > :14:12.by Jason Kenny in London in the Olympic final four years ago.

:14:13. > :14:27.This is the fourth and final quarterfinal. First race in the best

:14:28. > :14:32.of three. Very tactical ride from Bauge in the previous round. Cat and

:14:33. > :14:44.mouse stuff and I expect to see more of it here. I think Dmitriev looked

:14:45. > :15:01.very powerful in his eighth ride. So this one should be close.

:15:02. > :15:08.You can walk alongside them at this point, halfway down the backstreet

:15:09. > :15:20.on the first lap. Dmitriev will want to drive. He has the big action --

:15:21. > :15:28.the big engine. Bauge had a bit of a tussle with the Netherlands

:15:29. > :15:35.candidate in the last race, both diving down the inside one after the

:15:36. > :15:44.other. Bauge taking it. A real heavyweight clash between France and

:15:45. > :15:52.Russia. Dmitriev happy to just take his time at the back. Coal is coming

:15:53. > :15:55.to a standstill. You have the element of surprise riding at the

:15:56. > :16:00.back, but you've also got come around outside, which is what Bauge

:16:01. > :16:04.is trying to make sure happens, he wants to pin him there so he doesn't

:16:05. > :16:07.get a height advantage but is forced to come around outside so he has to

:16:08. > :16:12.follow him off when he loses the height advantage but there is an

:16:13. > :16:15.opportunity to go on the inside, so Dmitriev is looking for an

:16:16. > :16:20.opportunity when Bauge isn't paying attention to dive down and he is

:16:21. > :16:26.trying to trap him in and he fell for it. He has done well, Dmitriev.

:16:27. > :16:31.Bauge has been caught out by the Russian and the sprinters on, 200

:16:32. > :16:35.metres to go down the back straight. Bauge comes back level, pretty sharp

:16:36. > :16:39.into the banking neck and neck, we'd expect nothing less between these

:16:40. > :16:43.two elbow to elbow for most of the way but then Dmitriev just had the

:16:44. > :16:48.little extra gear which enabled him to cross the line in first. As they

:16:49. > :16:53.came into the finishing straight it was a fine battle between the pair.

:16:54. > :17:01.Dmitriev leads by 1-0 in the best-of-3/4-final.

:17:02. > :17:07.Fantastic start to the men's sprint, I'm joined by some very special

:17:08. > :17:13.guests and before we speak to Bradley Wiggins and the men's team

:17:14. > :17:24.pursuit, let's closely see how they won a nail-biting gold medal in the

:17:25. > :17:28.men's team Bush last night. I believe in the group, you find

:17:29. > :17:32.yourself surrounded by some of the best, most underrated athletes in

:17:33. > :17:39.the world. Without those guys would not be able to try and win Olympic

:17:40. > :17:40.gold. You just think, how can we lose? Man for man I cannot see

:17:41. > :17:58.anyone else that can beat my team. Ed Clancy is my number one. There is

:17:59. > :18:06.nothing else for it, but a sharp, strong start. New Zealand, as

:18:07. > :18:11.expected, fighting hard. Great Britain at this moment on course for

:18:12. > :18:16.the final. We can see on their faces they are working hard for this. Four

:18:17. > :18:19.laps to go, Wiggins on the front for Great Britain, so far so good.

:18:20. > :18:25.Wiggins just did another mammoth turnout has bailed out. We're about

:18:26. > :18:30.to find out as they come towards the line, Britain cross the line and

:18:31. > :18:44.they've broken the world record! Sensational cycling here in Rio.

:18:45. > :18:56.Brilliant stuff. The Olympic final, men's team pursuit.

:18:57. > :19:02.The race for old underway, Australia against Great Britain. Australia,

:19:03. > :19:10.the world champions. It is good, strong cart on behalf of Australia.

:19:11. > :19:15.And Australia are trying to put the Brits under pressure. Great Britain

:19:16. > :19:21.will work to do here. The halfway mark, it is nearly seven tenths of

:19:22. > :19:25.one second and then Australia in the box seat. Great Britain are coming

:19:26. > :19:29.back, the roar goes up inside the velodrome, six laps to glory and

:19:30. > :19:32.Australia are down to three already, Wiggins has handed over to Ed

:19:33. > :19:40.Clancy, down to three they are in the lead. It will go right down to

:19:41. > :19:43.the wire, it is coming down to the last lap. Great Britain or

:19:44. > :19:55.Australia? It will be Great Britain in a world record time. The last 12

:19:56. > :20:01.months we've done everything together. It was incredible. All for

:20:02. > :20:05.this. It was unbelievable. We've done it. Absolutely amazing. When

:20:06. > :20:26.you're with guys like that on the line, it makes your job much easier.

:20:27. > :20:35.And the only thing missing just now is Bradley Wiggins's gold medal.

:20:36. > :20:39.I've lost it. It's in a bag somewhere. Your team last night not

:20:40. > :20:45.get caught up in the motion it all. Now you've had time to reflect from

:20:46. > :20:48.the performance of the EULA is a team and your cheap and over fifth

:20:49. > :20:52.gold, and eighth medal, what you think? I don't know, doesn't feel

:20:53. > :20:57.any different yesterday was that it still hasn't sunk in. You watch that

:20:58. > :21:01.now and we were speaking last night, driving out into the town here how

:21:02. > :21:04.different it could have been the more we spoke about little things

:21:05. > :21:09.that happened in the race, like I touched on's wheel at one point and

:21:10. > :21:15.Ed was unaware of that and you think, had it gone, it could have

:21:16. > :21:20.gone, it less than a second at the end. To come out on that side, we've

:21:21. > :21:23.been on the other side of the world this year and it is still difficult

:21:24. > :21:29.to sink in and believe that we did is. Did you know when you crossed

:21:30. > :21:35.the line that you had one? I had no idea at all. I just, we got through

:21:36. > :21:39.our first turns as planned, everything went as planned we were

:21:40. > :21:43.ahead of schedule but I could sense it from the crowd, we were getting,

:21:44. > :21:46.there's lots of Britain here and we could tell in the semifinal in

:21:47. > :21:50.qualifying when things were going well, info file I had the feeling we

:21:51. > :21:53.were down and a lot of these boys look across the track to check where

:21:54. > :21:57.we are against opposition, but I keep my head down and pedal and it

:21:58. > :22:03.got so scrappy, three of us doing half lap turns and it is only when I

:22:04. > :22:06.looked at the scoreboard, about two laps after I crossed the line and

:22:07. > :22:11.realise we had one. I was more intent on catching my breath and

:22:12. > :22:15.celebrate. For you, our first ever Olympics, you did not intend for it

:22:16. > :22:18.to be that tense, how much does now having the gold medal round your

:22:19. > :22:23.neck and BBA watching it back knowing you've won, how much does it

:22:24. > :22:27.mean? It was surreal, I cannot even remember finishing the race I was in

:22:28. > :22:31.so much pain. I did the change and I remember seeing two and panicking

:22:32. > :22:37.and thinking, God, I cannot let them down. It wasn't until because the

:22:38. > :22:42.line that I realised we had one. It is like a team project you want to

:22:43. > :22:46.be so in control and dialled and that was the complete opposite

:22:47. > :22:50.yesterday. It was scrappy and for it to be the final and for the win is

:22:51. > :22:53.pretty big. Was there any moment of panic when you saw a gap opening

:22:54. > :22:57.with two laps to go and back wheel disappearing? Did you think this

:22:58. > :23:03.could be eight or did you know you could close the gap? I knew I had a

:23:04. > :23:06.little bit left but I hadn't heard one from three so I thought we were

:23:07. > :23:10.still enough for and I was intending on bailing goes I thought I would

:23:11. > :23:16.drop down and I had a quick check and I saw it and thought, now or

:23:17. > :23:20.never. I cannot remember it. I just pulled out and luckily it's paid

:23:21. > :23:26.off. We saw shots of everyone left at the velodrome, last man out was

:23:27. > :23:31.probably Brad. What did you do after that last night? Are we allowed to

:23:32. > :23:41.know? The celebrations went long into the night. It was a fantastic

:23:42. > :23:47.night, I was really proud of the lads. It was brilliant, an epic

:23:48. > :23:55.final. It was ragged at times, especially towards the end. Playing

:23:56. > :24:00.catch up but then we managed. To bring it together for the closing

:24:01. > :24:07.laps and it all came together well. But it was a brutal final. And the

:24:08. > :24:14.weird thing is, now, you will all go your different ways, you will retire

:24:15. > :24:21.in November? Yes. All winners going to Team Sky, Stephen is going on

:24:22. > :24:25.holiday next week. And Ed will probably have a year away from track

:24:26. > :24:31.cycling on the road just because I think he has been fool on since

:24:32. > :24:38.probably the world into thousand seven. I think, the last time we'll

:24:39. > :24:43.probably ride as a quartet and it will be a different line-up in

:24:44. > :24:50.Tokyo. Probably was another two guys, Qian and Mahdi maybe, have

:24:51. > :24:54.switched. They've got to try and win number four because they won it

:24:55. > :25:01.three consecutive now. We have won it. Will you miss him? There is too

:25:02. > :25:06.much of a delay. I will really miss him, he has been great. Brad has a

:25:07. > :25:10.strong legs and helped with the TB should but he has done more than

:25:11. > :25:16.that and since Brad has been part of this team, the last 18 months he's

:25:17. > :25:19.really held it and it has need of a personality like him to inspire not

:25:20. > :25:24.just us but the coaches and staff and management get behind the team

:25:25. > :25:28.pursuit again. Cheers, mate. I'm glad you said it because he once

:25:29. > :25:32.said himself, he is the reluctant hero, thank you for coming out, I

:25:33. > :25:36.hope you find a gold medal again or that will be going for an awful lot

:25:37. > :25:40.on eBay. They will stay and cheer on Becky James and the women's team

:25:41. > :25:42.pursuit who are going for gold to night. Beckett up next and this is

:25:43. > :25:51.how it works in the Keirin. It is the top events to explain to a

:25:52. > :25:56.non-cyclist and in truth it is much easier to understand for those

:25:57. > :25:59.involved in the sport. Contested of eight laps it is effectively a

:26:00. > :26:03.NASCAR Sprint for up to seven riders. The conventions draw lots

:26:04. > :26:08.for their start order to the first 4.5 laps are led by a small

:26:09. > :26:13.motorbike, Dhoni that steadily paces the group up to a maximum of 50

:26:14. > :26:18.kilometre narrow or 45 kilometre is an hour for women. Riders must stay

:26:19. > :26:23.together and are not allowed to pass it until it pulls off the track at

:26:24. > :26:28.which point of the sprint begins. Hitting the front early years you

:26:29. > :26:32.control of the pace but 3.5 laps is very energy expensive. The least

:26:33. > :26:37.taxing position is at the back but few can get around multiple riders

:26:38. > :26:41.in the closing stages. Second is probably the most favoured

:26:42. > :26:44.compromise, but here is a constant danger of being boxed in. If a rider

:26:45. > :26:50.does find themselves trapped there is always the riskiest of all

:26:51. > :26:55.manoeuvres, passing on the inside. A big betting sport in Japan, the

:26:56. > :26:58.Keirin used to be on an aggressive high-speed affair with crash is

:26:59. > :27:01.commonplace but recently the event has been somewhat sanitised, the

:27:02. > :27:05.speed has been regulated, bringing into question the need for PACE

:27:06. > :27:10.motorbike at all and no rider to ride a contact is allowed. We might

:27:11. > :27:12.be mystified by the format but it is still not a event for the

:27:13. > :27:15.faint-hearted and with so many bodies on the track the last few

:27:16. > :27:23.seconds of us Keirin can be spectacular.

:27:24. > :27:28.It is thrilling to watch this race and it can be dangerous, there was a

:27:29. > :27:32.big crash this morning, two heats coming up, effectively semifinals.

:27:33. > :27:37.The top three and it will go to the final. Here is Simon. Away we go

:27:38. > :27:46.with eight laps of the track, the first thing to note, the durney

:27:47. > :27:49.bikes and what they used to be. I don't know why he needs front and

:27:50. > :27:56.back suspension going around the track but there you go. The backpack

:27:57. > :28:08.is not his lunch, it is a very nice camera. Let's run through the

:28:09. > :28:19.line-up, the rider on the wheel of the durney bike. Is Anastasio who

:28:20. > :28:27.won the medal in the team sprint, she is on the front. The rider in

:28:28. > :28:36.the bright orange helmet behind her is Ellis lately from the

:28:37. > :28:48.Netherlands. -- Elis Ligtlee. We were looking at the Columbia rider

:28:49. > :28:56.Martha Bayona Pineda,. Hyejin Lee From careers in this field and so is

:28:57. > :29:00.Tianshi Zhong from China. Let's see if they can repeat the performance.

:29:01. > :29:04.She did get the jump at the right time and so many different agendas

:29:05. > :29:11.out there. It is difficult to know what will happen. Vogel just had a

:29:12. > :29:18.shot, and very a spurious rider. The speed of the bike is regulated quite

:29:19. > :29:22.strictly? Each lap of the race. Yes, as we saw an explanation, 45, two

:29:23. > :29:28.hour for the women is the maximum. They will reach that shortly. It is

:29:29. > :29:29.terminal velocity and then swinging down on the back straight and over

:29:30. > :29:54.to the women. When they come around there will be

:29:55. > :29:59.two laps to complete. Vogel coming around the outside, she's decided it

:30:00. > :30:05.was time to go. No one took it on, which is interesting. Vogel is in

:30:06. > :30:12.control of the race. Still not Full Tilt, she'll accelerate into this.

:30:13. > :30:16.In a great position. Oh, there's a crash, it is Kristina Vogel riding

:30:17. > :30:20.away at the front and the Colombian has gone down, Bayona is on the

:30:21. > :30:29.ground. Vogel, the world champ and, crossing the line ahead of Ligtlee

:30:30. > :30:42.and Voinova, and zonked and she -- zonked Yancey of China -- Zhong in

:30:43. > :30:49.third. I mentioned in the preview that it has...

:30:50. > :31:00.There was a nasty spill. Kristina Vogel, the clear winner. Not quite

:31:01. > :31:05.enough room to race. She was the victim of a tussle going on in front

:31:06. > :31:14.of her, I'm afraid. The Chinese rider just coming down there that

:31:15. > :31:19.caused the problem. Pushing up, Voinova, and just overlapping the

:31:20. > :31:28.wheels. Voinova, and Ligtlee and Bayona are the three who don't go

:31:29. > :31:32.through. I said that the keirin dangerous was -- riding stainless

:31:33. > :31:39.but I wasn't expecting that. If you cause a crash, can you be

:31:40. > :31:45.disqualified? You can be relegated. -- riding was dangerous. It was the

:31:46. > :31:48.Chinese girl pushing down on the Russian who lost control and then

:31:49. > :31:52.came back up and hit the Chinese rider which caused a ripple effect

:31:53. > :31:58.which unfortunately for the Colombian, who was doing nothing

:31:59. > :32:03.wrong. The Colombian was in the wrong place at that time

:32:04. > :32:07.unfortunately. I reckon the Chinese rider may get a warning for that,

:32:08. > :32:11.Inc wrote in on the Russian. And your feet are strapped to the

:32:12. > :32:18.pedals, so you can't click free. Exactly, not very nice. And you can

:32:19. > :32:23.often jolt your hips, you can hurt yourself. Kristina Vogel showing why

:32:24. > :32:26.you want to be at the front in this kind of race, for a number of

:32:27. > :32:38.reasons, not least because of the chaos behind you. The second race is

:32:39. > :32:41.going to figure Becky James and Anna Meares, and this Dutch rider, who

:32:42. > :32:45.had this crash this morning which is awful to watch because she was

:32:46. > :32:50.pushed to the top bank. Similar problem to the previous race. The

:32:51. > :32:55.Dutch girl is encroaching on the French rider, who lost balance.

:32:56. > :33:03.Going all the way to the top. That is a vertical wall, you can't quite

:33:04. > :33:08.see, the Dutch rider is going up a vertical wall, it is like some kind

:33:09. > :33:11.of stunned, she actually held on and stayed upright, which is amazing.

:33:12. > :33:16.Some of the pictures on Twitter are off at the top of the fence, with

:33:17. > :33:21.the bike horizontal. She will be in the line-up. What are you expecting

:33:22. > :33:25.from Becky James? She has to try and take control, get to the front but

:33:26. > :33:32.not as early as the last ride. She took it on, two and a half laps out,

:33:33. > :33:37.which is bold, but difficult. You can stay out of trouble if you are

:33:38. > :33:43.at the front. Here we are in the qualifying round. In front, the

:33:44. > :33:47.shortest route, you can dictate the pace. They started bunching up

:33:48. > :33:52.behind her and she kept enough gas in the tank to hold on to the

:33:53. > :33:56.finish. 24 years old, Becky, the world champion sprinter in keirin in

:33:57. > :34:00.2013 but she has had a run of injuries, coming back in the

:34:01. > :34:06.Championships in March, taking bronze. Would you say that she comes

:34:07. > :34:12.here at the peak of her form? Is she back to her best? Definitely, we

:34:13. > :34:16.don't know her absolute speed but seeing her training times: 10.8,

:34:17. > :34:22.exceptionally quick. She knows she has good form. The confidence of

:34:23. > :34:26.arriving fully prepared as opposed to the World Championships where she

:34:27. > :34:31.wasn't ready and she still won a bronze medal, which boosted her

:34:32. > :34:34.confidence. She knows he has the legs and the head for it, we may see

:34:35. > :34:39.something special if she gets her tactics right. You were a double

:34:40. > :34:43.Olympic champion from raging and London, was the keirin something to

:34:44. > :34:49.be enjoyed or feared as a rider -- Beijing. Nothing like being in the

:34:50. > :34:55.final. In the sprint you have a Silver Medal, at worst, it is

:34:56. > :34:59.predictable, but the keirin is so unpredictable, it is fast. You can

:35:00. > :35:06.see the marks that van Riessen made this morning. She has amazing bike

:35:07. > :35:10.riding skills, to get to the vertical part and back down without

:35:11. > :35:14.crashing, incredible. It is a crowd favourite, the riders love doing it.

:35:15. > :35:19.Before I did it as an event, I loved watching it. Traditionally the last

:35:20. > :35:22.event of the programme and all of the riders used to watch it in the

:35:23. > :35:27.stands and place bets on who was going to win. Anna Meares, who

:35:28. > :35:31.carried the flag for the Australians in the opening ceremonies, the big

:35:32. > :35:37.name in opposition to Becky James, broke her neck in a keirin race in

:35:38. > :35:42.2008. The Australians had their camp at the same track in LA, she has had

:35:43. > :35:46.to prepare on that track. We will see what happens in the second of

:35:47. > :35:51.these races. COMMENTATOR: The riders are just coming up onto the track.

:35:52. > :35:59.Becky James riding extremely well in the early session. She must finish

:36:00. > :36:05.in the first three to make it to the final. She took control, as we've

:36:06. > :36:11.seen, in the replays. Such a small and aerodynamic package, when she

:36:12. > :36:15.crouches low, she can be on the front and take control. Riding

:36:16. > :36:25.perfectly and she'll be looking to repeat that performance. From the

:36:26. > :36:29.Ukraine, Shulika, their national champion. The great Anna Meares,

:36:30. > :36:40.three times a champion, including last year in Paris. The white

:36:41. > :36:51.Lee Wai Sze, from China and then Becky James, bronze in the World

:36:52. > :36:56.Championships. Krupeckaite, in the autumn of her career. This is a

:36:57. > :37:05.field of the highest quality in this half of the draw. There is a lot of

:37:06. > :37:09.race craft that has to be learnt and also the ability to react so fast.

:37:10. > :37:12.You have your own idea of how you are going to run the race but

:37:13. > :37:22.everybody has their own agenda and you must adapt. Eight laps of the

:37:23. > :37:27.track starting now. Lee Wai Sze from Hong Kong getting straight onto the

:37:28. > :37:31.back wheel of the derny bike. National hero back at home, winning

:37:32. > :37:36.Hong Kong's first ever Olympic cycling medal four years ago. And a

:37:37. > :37:42.world champion as well the couple of years ago in the 500 metres time

:37:43. > :37:43.trial. This is Krupeckaite, Chris was talking about tactical ability

:37:44. > :37:47.in a race like this and Krupeckaite in a race like this and Krupeckaite

:37:48. > :37:52.certainly has plenty of that, she's been racing at the top level for a

:37:53. > :37:56.long time. Just to reiterate, they can't pass the derny, they can't

:37:57. > :38:01.even overlap the back wheel and if they do, the rider will be relegated

:38:02. > :38:05.and the race will be restarted until it pulls off the track. Not only

:38:06. > :38:10.that, they must stay with it as well. Staying with the Pace

:38:11. > :38:14.motorbike is defined by ten metres. As you get towards the modem and

:38:15. > :38:19.where it pulls off, large gaps form and that is the riders giving

:38:20. > :38:22.themselves room to accelerate. They anticipate the bike pulling off and

:38:23. > :38:28.they give themselves some room to work. Just to note, as we see Lee

:38:29. > :38:33.Wai Sze from Hong Kong right behind, the rider at the back in the orange,

:38:34. > :38:36.van Riessen from the Netherlands was the rider who has shown she can ride

:38:37. > :38:42.up a vertical wall today, avoiding that crash. She hasn't been a track

:38:43. > :38:49.rider for very long, only the last year or so, she was eight speed

:38:50. > :38:56.skater from the Vancouver Games in 2010. You would never know, she kept

:38:57. > :38:59.riding, she had about two centimetres before she would have

:39:00. > :39:02.gone over the fence, it was a remarkable piece of bike craft and

:39:03. > :39:08.that's going to be one of the pictures of the Games going forward.

:39:09. > :39:12.Exciting stuff. Two about half laps to go, the bike will disappear and

:39:13. > :39:16.the race will be on. The tension will be riding among the six riders.

:39:17. > :39:20.That's why you can see the gaps starting to appear, half a lap

:39:21. > :39:25.before it moves out of the way and the racing will start. Becky James

:39:26. > :39:27.is in fourth place. A little bit far back, she would like to move up but

:39:28. > :39:42.careful not to be boxed in. Fright at the back, Becky James from

:39:43. > :39:46.Great Britain in the dark outfit, going around the outside. She

:39:47. > :39:50.decides she isn't going to hang around, she wants to grab this by

:39:51. > :39:55.the scruff of the neck. Lee Wai Sze of Hong Kong has gone down on the

:39:56. > :40:02.inside. Becky James leading the way, Anna Meares looks comfortable in

:40:03. > :40:05.second. In fourth place, Krupeckaite, battling for a place in

:40:06. > :40:14.the final. Still Becky James leading them to pause the line. Becky James,

:40:15. > :40:17.Anna Meares and Shulika of the Ukraine. Becky James made an

:40:18. > :40:21.excellent move in getting towards the front of the race when she did

:40:22. > :40:25.and avoiding any of the problems, as Lee Wai Sze crashed on the inside of

:40:26. > :40:30.the track and is still down on the ground. It has been given to Anna

:40:31. > :40:35.Meares but Becky James eased on the line, Sheila Cross to see.

:40:36. > :40:41.Beautifully timed committee accelerated over the top just as the

:40:42. > :40:44.crash happened. It was perfectly timed. See accelerated in the bend

:40:45. > :40:48.so that she would already be coming at them when she got to the straight

:40:49. > :40:52.and that is when you can move forward. It was a subtle but very

:40:53. > :40:58.important time to start that acceleration, real confidence. Great

:40:59. > :41:03.ride in the semifinal from Becky James. She is in the shake-up for

:41:04. > :41:07.the medals. Anna Meares from Australia is hoping for one last

:41:08. > :41:13.Olympic Farah as well in what would be, for her, a third Olympic title

:41:14. > :41:21.having won a Gold Medal in 2004 and four years ago in London -- hurrah.

:41:22. > :41:25.Lee Wai Sze from Hong Kong, thankfully OK although clearly less

:41:26. > :41:37.than amused by the outcome. All part of it. STUDIO: Safely through to the

:41:38. > :41:43.final, Becky James, coming up later tonight. It is going to be 9:27pm,

:41:44. > :41:48.the team pursuit will be 853, your time. Don't miss them. You are

:41:49. > :41:54.saying it was the perfect race until you saw package aims sitting up on

:41:55. > :42:01.the line. -- you saw Becky James. She only had to be in the top three,

:42:02. > :42:06.she could give up a bit but you never look round on the finishing

:42:07. > :42:10.line and Anna Meares just rolled her. It doesn't make any difference,

:42:11. > :42:14.there is no seeding, nothing wrong with that but for all she knew,

:42:15. > :42:17.there could have been a couple of riders on the outside and she could

:42:18. > :42:24.have been overtaken and could have been out of the final. Very minor

:42:25. > :42:28.complaint. Fantastic ride. She lined it up perfectly with two laps to go,

:42:29. > :42:32.starting her effort, coming over the outside. She could have hesitated

:42:33. > :42:35.when Anna Meares reacted with a lap of a half to go and she could have

:42:36. > :42:38.been stuck on the long Way round which would have been disastrous but

:42:39. > :42:43.she committed, taking the race to the front. She line it up, makes

:42:44. > :42:49.space for herself, she starts going here. Accelerating, catching them by

:42:50. > :42:55.surprise, Anna Meares Caesar but Becky has the commitment -- sees

:42:56. > :42:59.her. It is a shame that Lee Wai Sze was knocked down, she had a good

:43:00. > :43:03.chance. Becky is in control. Anna Meares creating a bit of a gap for

:43:04. > :43:09.safety so she can run onto the wheel of Becky and get into the

:43:10. > :43:12.slipstream. That was as close to perfection for Becky as you can

:43:13. > :43:17.expect. Apart from looking round at the finishing line! That would be

:43:18. > :43:21.your feedback, do the same but don't look around. I don't think she will

:43:22. > :43:25.do it in the final, when there is a medal at stake you just look at the

:43:26. > :43:32.ground and you throw the bike. Tremendous race to watch. Started in

:43:33. > :43:36.Japan I think for betting purposes initially and it became a big deal.

:43:37. > :43:40.Jason Kenny is the defending Olympic champion in the men's sprint and if

:43:41. > :43:46.he wins this second of the best of three races he will be through to

:43:47. > :43:50.the semifinals later tonight, against Patrick Constable 2-1 the

:43:51. > :43:54.first part of this pretty easily. Simon and Chris, will you expect him

:43:55. > :44:00.to do it in two? Hard to know what Constable can do,

:44:01. > :44:04.he is a canny rider, showing some good track craft but I don't think

:44:05. > :44:09.he has the measure of Kenny and I was surprised he was suckered in by

:44:10. > :44:14.him in the previous ride. Kenny kept control from start to finish,

:44:15. > :44:19.looking so confident, more so than I have seen before. Here we go, the

:44:20. > :44:24.second race, potentially of three. Jason Kenny of Heath -- if he wins

:44:25. > :44:30.this one he go through to the semifinal. The defending champion,

:44:31. > :44:35.semifinal, the Olympic sprint title, one of four Gold Medal C has won in

:44:36. > :44:44.his career. Kenny certainly looked very impressive in that first right.

:44:45. > :44:50.-- medals he has won. Patrick Constable, who was part of

:44:51. > :44:59.Australia's team pursuit squad here. Finishing in fourth place. Former

:45:00. > :45:04.world junior champion. Nice shot with the reflection in the glasses.

:45:05. > :45:11.I think Constable's only chance here is to try and control this one, try

:45:12. > :45:17.and stop Jason Kenny from dictating how the race runs out. He has the

:45:18. > :45:23.engine. Constable must stop him from using it. Kenny has got the

:45:24. > :45:26.predatory as well, he was in the Olympic final in Beijing in 2008.

:45:27. > :45:41.Losing to Chris Hoy. Slowly stalking the Australian, his

:45:42. > :45:44.body language and face, picture of concentration, a study in

:45:45. > :45:48.concentration. We saw this earlier, the riders going up the track, they

:45:49. > :45:52.are tempting the opposition to come underneath so they can come down and

:45:53. > :45:57.shut the door and forced them to store and then start accelerating.

:45:58. > :46:02.Did not work earlier, he did not close the door fast enough and

:46:03. > :46:05.Dimitri of took the initiative. A quick look to this matchup between

:46:06. > :46:12.the pair, Constable clearly starting to wind it up a little. Kenny is

:46:13. > :46:15.being drawn in, that is the difference, left himself plenty of

:46:16. > :46:19.room to work and get the height to accelerate with one lap to go, going

:46:20. > :46:24.into loss to understand the back straight, look at the blistering

:46:25. > :46:27.speed of Jason Kenny as he races past the Australian, passed his

:46:28. > :46:34.shoulder and into the finishing straight, majestic sprinting. Jason

:46:35. > :46:37.Kenny, the world champion and at the moment looks unbeatable, he

:46:38. > :46:43.certainly did in that ride against Constable but he will face tougher

:46:44. > :46:49.competition. That was frightening, he sat up with a quarter of a lap to

:46:50. > :46:53.go, he knew his sheer momentum was going to carry him over the line

:46:54. > :46:56.first and barely opened his mouth, look at the expression on his face,

:46:57. > :47:01.there is a moment of acceleration, gets himself into control and coming

:47:02. > :47:09.around here, have already decided started ease off, thinking about

:47:10. > :47:14.what I will have for dinner. 2-0, Jason Kenny again having got the

:47:15. > :47:20.better half of the draw or got himself a very good draw by being

:47:21. > :47:23.the fastest qualifier has also avoided any ripper charges and

:47:24. > :47:28.avoided a third right here. The dividends, that fast qualification.

:47:29. > :47:41.And the next heat will feature the other British rider, Calum Skinner,

:47:42. > :47:49.23-year-old from Scotland. Skinner won the first ride against Sujad

:47:50. > :47:52.from China and again, heat two, won the first race convincingly. This

:47:53. > :48:01.Skinner wins this one he would also be there to the last four.

:48:02. > :48:06.Remarkable how quick it happens. He is riding the crest of the wave, man

:48:07. > :48:10.of the match in the team's print and sprinting better than he ever has in

:48:11. > :48:15.his life. All five fifths in the World Championship was not able to

:48:16. > :48:19.deliver. He is here. He had to bow out in the last eight but has the

:48:20. > :48:24.opportunity to go better here and make it into the semifinals and

:48:25. > :48:27.Calum Skinner, first came to prominence domestically with a clean

:48:28. > :48:35.sweep at international titles back in 2014 in the autumn. It is written

:48:36. > :48:42.in the Commonwealth Games twice in 2010 and 14. But this is on another

:48:43. > :48:47.scale altogether in Rio. One of the big changes with the British team is

:48:48. > :48:51.the German sprint coach came across and still just out of his own career

:48:52. > :48:55.and world champion himself, used to go on the track, not sure if he

:48:56. > :49:00.still does go through scenarios, role-playing with the riders, some

:49:01. > :49:05.superb technical coaching, tactical coaching and it has made a big

:49:06. > :49:09.difference to the team. Keeping control, you can see, although he is

:49:10. > :49:14.seated, he is raising the pace and the form he has got, he can stay

:49:15. > :49:20.seated and accelerate so hard. He has some distance. He has a lot of

:49:21. > :49:23.what to do, the Chinese rider and I'm not sure he will come close to

:49:24. > :49:27.challenging Skinner. Skinner with plenty of daylight and the rider

:49:28. > :49:33.from China pushing hard, trying to get back on terms but Calum Skinner

:49:34. > :49:37.just riding away through, in straight rides into the semifinals,

:49:38. > :49:42.both Jason Kenny and Calum Skinner through. That was Yann Demange and

:49:43. > :49:47.you sort shaking the hands of the Chinese coach. Unfortunately has not

:49:48. > :49:51.shaved his moustache like the rest of the team prior to the competition

:49:52. > :49:55.but he must be pleased with how his charges are doing, look at the

:49:56. > :50:00.power, so in control in that race. He saw an opportunity and went

:50:01. > :50:04.early, but you got to give yourself some room to manoeuvre. You can only

:50:05. > :50:17.way to much, I will not let you get a look in. Van -- the coach will be

:50:18. > :50:20.pleased with what he's seen so far. Great Britain are guaranteed to get

:50:21. > :50:26.something from the men's sprint, whatever happens. The next ride will

:50:27. > :50:32.be on the track in a moment or two and it will be much place are from

:50:33. > :50:43.Australia against the occupiers from Germany. Glaetzer was the winner of

:50:44. > :50:48.the first race and if he wins he will join the Brits in the final.

:50:49. > :50:51.We'll bring you up-to-date on the month, reflecting on Calum Skinner

:50:52. > :50:57.and Jason Kenny, they won their quarterfinals in different but both

:50:58. > :51:00.convincing. Two into the last four sort we are guaranteed a medal of

:51:01. > :51:05.some colour in tomorrow's race but that was perfect from both. He just

:51:06. > :51:10.ran out his opponent with plenty of speed. Like he had an extra gear, he

:51:11. > :51:14.cruised around outside untroubled and Billy Brooke Sweat. Calendar and

:51:15. > :51:19.when from the front, opened a gap and poured it on, it was perfection.

:51:20. > :51:23.If they keep winning and winner semifinals later then they will meet

:51:24. > :51:26.tomorrow night in the gold medal race, which would be tremendously

:51:27. > :51:30.exciting full Andy Murray is already through to a gold medal match to

:51:31. > :51:33.defend his men's singles title but the big question is who will he

:51:34. > :51:38.meet? Myanmar teamed Del Pontal Viking tea and Rafa Nadal of Spain

:51:39. > :51:43.locked into a third set decider. These are the scenes live at the

:51:44. > :51:48.main court and we will join it because double trouble is serving

:51:49. > :51:58.for the match and a place in the cold medal final. -- Del Potro.

:51:59. > :52:41.One game away from the Olympic final.

:52:42. > :52:51.A great start for Nadal. An enormous serve from Del Potro, somehow he got

:52:52. > :52:55.it back. He did claw his way into the rally. The quickest serve of the

:52:56. > :53:48.day. 214 kilometres per hour. He has been slightly less secure on

:53:49. > :53:49.the forehand in the third set. You could put your mortgage on it making

:53:50. > :54:06.that one. He dealt with the net really well

:54:07. > :54:27.and then a lovely volley. Not just in Spain, he's not two the

:54:28. > :54:34.most popular man in Brazil right now. -- he is the most. Three break

:54:35. > :55:08.back points. Electric speed. The adrenaline

:55:09. > :55:16.pumping so hard in Del Potro with the powder and Nadal with the speed.

:55:17. > :55:20.How quick was he on to that? Great anticipation, it still needed some

:55:21. > :55:28.quite frightening speed to get to it. He has broken back.

:55:29. > :55:36.Good old Nadal, he is never beaten them what a celebration when he gave

:55:37. > :55:40.himself 0-40, has broken back against Del Gotrel 5-5, that

:55:41. > :55:45.continues live on BBC Four, who will bring you the best on BBC One, in

:55:46. > :55:48.Badminton we heard earlier Gary and Chris Adcock have gone out of the

:55:49. > :55:52.Mixed Doubles but there is good news for Britain does not appear in the

:55:53. > :55:55.Men's Doubles. Chris Langridge and Martin Southers won today to reach

:55:56. > :56:00.the quarterfinals, great result for them, ranked 22 in the world, and

:56:01. > :56:06.they are through to the quarterfinals. Fabulous. Chris has

:56:07. > :56:12.had his vision sprint through watching the track and tennis, you

:56:13. > :56:19.like Rafa coming back. Yes. Don't give it away. We saw Jason Kenny and

:56:20. > :56:22.Calum Skinner win their second races earlier, so they are through. They

:56:23. > :56:28.don't need a decider but let's look at the third of the quarterfinals.

:56:29. > :56:40.Mathieu Glaetzer gives jockey milers. --

:56:41. > :57:05.quarterfinal between Glaetzer Joachim Eilers and. Has Del Potro --

:57:06. > :57:12.Joachim Eilers got the legs to do it? Later has been fiery -- Mathieu

:57:13. > :57:15.Glaetzer has been Bayrou. Look at the height he had left himself. I

:57:16. > :57:20.think Joachim Eilers has made a mistake. Mathieu Glaetzer got an

:57:21. > :57:24.enormous speed boost but he was stalled again, and Mathieu Glaetzer

:57:25. > :57:28.with work to do down the back straight, looks more than willing to

:57:29. > :57:31.do that and draw level with Joachim Eilers and Joachim Eilers will be

:57:32. > :57:34.beaten for pace and for speed on the line. Perfectly timed in the end

:57:35. > :57:40.from Mathieu Glaetzer. They certainly did not hang about and

:57:41. > :57:45.Mathieu Glaetzer is through industry rights as well. Mathieu Glaetzer of

:57:46. > :57:53.Australia will now meet Calum Skinner. I think he's not impressed

:57:54. > :57:56.massively year, a time trial was excellent but he's not raised with

:57:57. > :57:59.the same conviction be seen in previous championships. That was a

:58:00. > :58:05.10-4 and he was working hard to get around either at 10.4 pace, not

:58:06. > :58:10.exceptionally quick the last 200, Jason and Calum are doing 10.1,

:58:11. > :58:14.10.2, I fancy Calum. He has got a really good chance if he can get his

:58:15. > :58:17.head straight and focus on him and not be all right by the occasion but

:58:18. > :58:21.he has shown no signs of that so far. He's been perfect. I would put

:58:22. > :58:27.money on Calum. Arguably Jason Kenny has the more difficult job because

:58:28. > :58:32.he will meet Dennis Dimitris or Gregory Bourget and the first race

:58:33. > :58:46.of their three was won by Dimitri of -- Dmitriev. Here's the second.

:58:47. > :58:49.Bauge with a last opportunity to say that McStay and accommodation.

:58:50. > :58:54.Having a disappointing game so far, I wonder how his morale is. Probably

:58:55. > :58:58.not great. Some discord in the French team, did not get the teams

:58:59. > :59:03.went medal that they were hoping for. In this competition, they are

:59:04. > :59:09.not faring much better. Difficult times for them.

:59:10. > :59:20.Halfway down the back straight. The crowd will just feel they move as

:59:21. > :59:25.the riders go past, they are so close to them. Interesting that

:59:26. > :59:30.Dmitriev is going for the standstill or look like he was about to come I

:59:31. > :59:34.thought it would be Bauge trying to keep its tactical. The are allowed

:59:35. > :59:39.to come. But only for a maximum of 30 seconds and if it gets to 30

:59:40. > :59:43.seconds, then judge walking the side of the track will indicate the lead

:59:44. > :59:47.rider to move off and if they don't they are relegated. They must have

:59:48. > :59:51.that will because potentially they could stand there for ten minutes.

:59:52. > :59:57.I've seen that many years ago. It was amusing for a while but after

:59:58. > :00:01.the first hour... Please everyone drumming their fingers and waiting

:00:02. > :00:07.for the race to continue. Hotting up now.

:00:08. > :00:13.Dmitriev of Russia on the fund, a repeat of the World Championship

:00:14. > :00:17.final year ago. Bauge has got to pull this out of the bag. Shoulder

:00:18. > :00:21.to shoulder, it is a real battle between two heavyweights of

:00:22. > :00:29.sprinting. Dmitriev I think has too much in the locker add Bauge doesn't

:00:30. > :00:33.have the speed -- and. There was a bit of bumping and barging. Dmitriev

:00:34. > :00:38.came outside the sprinter's line after the Sprint had launched. The

:00:39. > :00:43.judges may have something to say about that, we'll have to see. In

:00:44. > :00:51.the end, the protest wasn't made, was it? I don't think so, the result

:00:52. > :00:54.stands. When Bauge made his move, catching Dmitriev unawares and he

:00:55. > :01:01.was accelerating hard, he had the momentum. You can't really see,

:01:02. > :01:06.Dmitriev sticks his elbow into Bauge and comes out of the red, which you

:01:07. > :01:10.can't do, killing the run that Bauge had when he was passing him. It was

:01:11. > :01:17.the French team I would putting in a protest. I don't think it's going to

:01:18. > :01:23.change the standings. London 2012, Vicky Pendleton came out of the lane

:01:24. > :01:27.by a head spread and she was relegated. -- by a hair's bread.

:01:28. > :01:32.You're telling me he's broken the rules but hasn't been relegated. It

:01:33. > :01:37.is down to the interpretation by the judges. They decide whether the move

:01:38. > :01:42.in and he did the progress of the other rider. To me, that clearly

:01:43. > :01:46.happened. We will have to look at the other angle but it may be that

:01:47. > :01:51.Bauge encroached on Dmitriev, pushing him down the track. Who

:01:52. > :01:59.knows? As far as we are in a where, the result stands. Callum Skinner

:02:00. > :02:02.against Matthew Glaetzer. Semifinals later and also coming up, the

:02:03. > :02:06.women's team pursuit Gold Medal race but there is a lot of racing to

:02:07. > :02:11.happen before that. So we are going to take you to the tennis where Del

:02:12. > :02:17.Potro has already served once for the right to get into the goal medal

:02:18. > :02:22.match. Rafa broke back to be 5-5 and now he is serving to establish again

:02:23. > :02:28.his lead in the final set. They will play a tie-break. It is not a long

:02:29. > :02:32.third set. Let's see if Rafa can hold serve. He was dancing with

:02:33. > :02:37.delight when he gave himself the chance to break back. He has won the

:02:38. > :02:48.Gold Medal in the doubles, the singles champion from Beijing. Del

:02:49. > :02:56.Potro knocked out Djokovic. One of the great hits of this game is so

:02:57. > :02:59.far has been trampolining. Huge surprise yesterday when Bryony Page

:03:00. > :03:03.got herself into the final, not only into the final but her routine was

:03:04. > :03:10.good enough to earn her the Silver Medal. You must have incredible

:03:11. > :03:14.aerial awareness here, they get ten bounces, you must pull of the most

:03:15. > :03:19.difficult moves you can within those ten routines. The rebound on the

:03:20. > :03:24.trampoline can be vicious if you get your timing wrong. You must land on

:03:25. > :03:28.the square if possible, on the cross and not outside the square. Bryony

:03:29. > :03:33.Page, that was good enough to give her the Silver Medal. There's no

:03:34. > :03:37.doubt that her success inspired many people at home to be trying out

:03:38. > :03:46.these moves. This is Kayleigh Thompson. This is nine-year-old

:03:47. > :03:54.Shannon. Very good! This is Keira, who is six years old. And Anna on

:03:55. > :03:57.Twitter has sent in Ruby and Stanley Walsh from Cheshire, loving the

:03:58. > :04:03.trampolining and the British medal, inspiring the new generation. This

:04:04. > :04:07.is Britain's Nathan Bailey who has come back from horrendous injury,

:04:08. > :04:14.broke both arms, shattering his elbow. He finished in ninth place,

:04:15. > :04:19.he didn't quite make the final. But look at the moves like this. I told

:04:20. > :04:22.you about his injuries as well, so there is a downside, but when you

:04:23. > :04:27.get it right, it's sensational to watch. It may well have inspired you

:04:28. > :04:36.to take up trampolining and if so, follow this. Get Inspired is BBC

:04:37. > :04:38.Sport's campaign to get you active. You can find inspirational stories

:04:39. > :04:42.from people just like you. from people like you,

:04:43. > :04:44.as well as hints, tips and 70 practical guides to help

:04:45. > :04:46.you give something a go. There is an activity finder to help

:04:47. > :04:50.you find something to try near you. You can ask questions

:04:53. > :04:55.else to give something a try. Get up, get inspired,

:04:56. > :05:00.and get active. Now we are passing the bat on over

:05:01. > :05:13.to you. I just realise I gave you more than

:05:14. > :05:18.one child when you only have one so far! Old enough to trampoline? Not

:05:19. > :05:23.quite but I reckon I can get him bouncing up and down on one. The

:05:24. > :05:27.chances are that he may be an Olympian and he might be here in

:05:28. > :05:35.years to come. Let's bring you up-to-date on the headlines so far.

:05:36. > :05:38.Great Britain ending the Olympic rowing regatta in style with the

:05:39. > :05:47.men's eight, leading from start to finish to win gold, their first

:05:48. > :05:52.since the Sydney Olympics in 2000. And there was a first ever Olympic

:05:53. > :05:57.medal for the GB women's eight, finishing behind the USA who won

:05:58. > :06:00.gold at the 3rd Games in a row, but a terrific effort from the British

:06:01. > :06:10.women to hold off the opposition for silver. Andy Murray has booked his

:06:11. > :06:16.place in tomorrow's Men's Singles final after he beat Kei Nishikori

:06:17. > :06:23.and he will play either Del Potro or Nadal who are locked in a third set

:06:24. > :06:29.decider. Great Britain's Justin Rose leading the Gulf after round three,

:06:30. > :06:38.he is on 12-under par, leading by one shot from the Open champion

:06:39. > :06:46.Henrik Stenson. Rose shot 65 today, three eagles and two birdies. Final

:06:47. > :06:50.round tomorrow. And we are in for a thrilling conclusion to the

:06:51. > :06:55.heptathlon, Belgium's Nafi Thiam has edged Jess Ennis-Hill to the top of

:06:56. > :06:59.the standings after the long jump. Katarina Johnson-Thompson is in

:07:00. > :07:07.third with two event slated to go, the javelin and the 800 metres --

:07:08. > :07:18.two events to go. So, in terms of events here at the velodrome, this

:07:19. > :07:26.is the timetable. The women of Great Britain broke the world record to

:07:27. > :07:29.get into the final race. Becky James in the final of the keirin. It may

:07:30. > :07:42.be earlier than 9:30pm. If Jason Kenny and Callum Skinner

:07:43. > :07:52.wind there is, they'll be in the gold-medal race tomorrow. I would be

:07:53. > :07:56.advising you to drink coffee and stay up late. When I meet somebody

:07:57. > :08:00.many people tell me where they were on Super Saturday. People want to

:08:01. > :08:03.remember and be a part of that night. That gold-medal changed

:08:04. > :08:15.everything. That is to come, later tonight and

:08:16. > :08:19.we've got some sensational racing to come at the velodrome but we are

:08:20. > :08:24.going back to the tennis to see if Nadal or Del Potro can win this

:08:25. > :08:27.match. We are into the deciding third set tie-break and already Del

:08:28. > :08:32.Potro has a mini-break so the Argentinian is just edging ahead of

:08:33. > :08:37.Nadal, but you know what Rafa is like, he will be bouncing around

:08:38. > :08:59.trying to get back into it. Simon Reed is our commentator.

:09:00. > :09:32.COMMENTATOR: Kickstarter Del Potro -- kick-start for Del Potro.

:09:33. > :09:40.Mr Del Potro is challenging the call on the right-hand side, the ball was

:09:41. > :09:41.called out. He has got four challenges remaining, so he might as

:09:42. > :10:06.well use of them. It is still out. It was in the slot. A surprise to

:10:07. > :10:16.most that Rafa missed it. Three successive points, for Del Potro.

:10:17. > :10:21.It seems he has recovered well from dropping serve when he was serving

:10:22. > :10:55.for the match. Super forehand into the corner from

:10:56. > :11:39.the Nadal. -- from the wow, I'm not sure he meant it to be

:11:40. > :11:53.quite as good a shot as that. But what a bonus it was. Incredible

:11:54. > :13:07.angle. Still, it is Del Potro with the mini-break.

:13:08. > :13:15.That match continues on BBC Four. Here, the bronze medal race is under

:13:21. > :13:23.Canada can sense they are going to win bronze for the second Olympic

:13:24. > :13:28.Games in a row in the women's team pursuit. They can see their

:13:29. > :13:33.opponents as they come into the straight, disappearing to the

:13:34. > :13:38.opposite bend. It is added incentive, a lap and a half to go

:13:39. > :13:45.for Canada. Heading for the bronze medal, and the final is coming up in

:13:46. > :13:57.a few moments. Driving up the front, just and laser with Beveridge and

:13:58. > :14:02.Simmerling -- Glaesser. They will take the bronze medal with room to

:14:03. > :14:11.spare. New Zealand crossing the line. Canada dominant and winners of

:14:12. > :14:15.bronze. They can be pleased, they qualified in fourth place so they've

:14:16. > :14:21.moved forward from there, which is always good. They used their

:14:22. > :14:28.different abilities well. We saw Lay bailing out because she didn't want

:14:29. > :14:37.to slow the team down, so great team work. It is not just the ability of

:14:38. > :14:41.an individual. Tense moments, isn't it, on the start line. It's all

:14:42. > :14:49.ahead of you but they dealt with the pressure well. And as we look at the

:14:50. > :14:56.highlights of the bronze medal race, we will make preparations for the

:14:57. > :15:02.final itself. It will be up shortly, Great Britain against the United

:15:03. > :15:05.States and what a race it promises to be. So close, the two teams,

:15:06. > :15:17.earlier today. STUDIO: And now for gold, it is

:15:18. > :15:21.Great Britain against the USA. Great Britain set a world record in

:15:22. > :15:25.qualifying, the Americans set one this morning and then Great Britain

:15:26. > :15:31.set a new world record. Teams of four now, it was three in London, it

:15:32. > :15:39.was three kilometres in London and it is four now. We have two who have

:15:40. > :15:43.been in this position and two who haven't, Archibald and Barker. Laura

:15:44. > :15:48.Trott could become the first British woman to win three Olympic gold

:15:49. > :15:52.medals. This is history in the making. Chris, what would you

:15:53. > :15:57.anticipate will happen? As close as the men's race yesterday? I think it

:15:58. > :16:01.will be closer, it could be fractions of a second. One tenth of

:16:02. > :16:07.a second between them when they won the world record. 4.11, may be

:16:08. > :16:13.quicker, it may be one bike length in between them. The Americans have

:16:14. > :16:16.the horsepower, the Brits have the technique. It is too close to call

:16:17. > :16:21.but you've got to back the Brits here. Fantastic if Laura can win a

:16:22. > :16:25.third Gold Medal. Another night of history potentially. Tell me about

:16:26. > :16:31.the four of them and what they contribute in their technique and

:16:32. > :16:36.power and mental approach. Katie Archibald first of all.

:16:37. > :16:41.Katie is new to the team, world record holder and European champion,

:16:42. > :16:46.she's done everything coming her way so far. She started racing in

:16:47. > :16:49.Scotland as part of my old club, city of Edinburgh. She has joined

:16:50. > :16:54.the team without any problems at all. Quite all right, Laura Trott

:16:55. > :17:00.next to the smallest, she has the most experience, amazing technique

:17:01. > :17:04.and power. Elinor Barker, again, new to the team but has fitted in well

:17:05. > :17:11.and has had to work very hard to battle into the team. Joel Rose

:17:12. > :17:17.Ocean, already an Olympic champion, the art better drilled team are more

:17:18. > :17:23.efficient but the Americans have huge worst horror, particularly from

:17:24. > :17:27.Sarah Hammer. She is their staff. Yes, she is an individual world

:17:28. > :17:33.champion on many occasions. Silver medallist at the Olympics behind

:17:34. > :17:38.Laura Trott and she will be a big challenge for Lauren Nia Ali this

:17:39. > :17:42.time but this is purely about team pursuit and the Americans started

:17:43. > :17:46.quickly in the second ride, they opened up a gap of about one second

:17:47. > :17:49.over the British time, so we could see the Americans attacking hard at

:17:50. > :17:55.the beginning and putting the Brits under pressure. This will take about

:17:56. > :17:58.four minutes and 12 seconds, a gold-medal is at stake. Great

:17:59. > :18:04.Britain against the USA, Chris Boardman and Simon Brotherton. USA

:18:05. > :18:10.line-up, Sarah Hammer, is time world champion Kelly Kaplan, Chloe Dygert

:18:11. > :18:14.and Jennifer Valente a, these four riders won the World Championship

:18:15. > :18:19.demand on. Katy Archibald for Great Britain, Elinor Barker, Laura Trott

:18:20. > :18:28.going for what would be a historic third gold medal today. And Joanna

:18:29. > :18:33.Rowsell Shand who will be the leader of rider. She is currently in the

:18:34. > :18:38.starters gate. Very experienced, Russell Shand and Trott won this

:18:39. > :18:41.title four years ago. To retain it made me to be the world champions

:18:42. > :18:45.there was nothing between them when they raced earlier today,

:18:46. > :18:49.back-to-back world records. A tent of a second did it come I don't

:18:50. > :18:53.think we will see Joe Rosol Shan got all the way, she bailed in the last

:18:54. > :19:00.ride and give it all up, we see Archibald storming on the back. The

:19:01. > :19:04.world champions, the USA against Great Britain, four-time world

:19:05. > :19:10.champions, what an Olympic final we have on our hands. Just like last

:19:11. > :19:14.night, this one could go to the wire. It could be a white knuckle

:19:15. > :19:18.ride. One tenth of a second in the previous ride between them,

:19:19. > :19:22.different strategies were employed, serve ayes Sarah Hammer did single

:19:23. > :19:27.lapse exchanges to two that could be a problem for the British riders

:19:28. > :19:30.Archibald did an enormous 2.5 lap turn in the previous ride we inspect

:19:31. > :19:34.the British team to be behind at this point, they were nearly one

:19:35. > :19:38.second down the first kilometre when they beat them before the muscle the

:19:39. > :19:43.fact there was a small deficit just now is no great worry to them. Laura

:19:44. > :19:46.Trott on the front for Great Britain, she peels off and Elinor

:19:47. > :19:52.Barker takes over, let's look at the Gap, 750 metres and the driving

:19:53. > :19:55.force really for the USA has been Sarah Hammer, Jennifer Valente here

:19:56. > :19:59.as well as newly developed in the last couple of years. A former

:20:00. > :20:03.sprinter returning to the endurance squad, they are an extremely well

:20:04. > :20:08.drilled outfit and the one kilometre mark is very close and advantage

:20:09. > :20:13.slightly to the USA. The Brits have gone one second faster than in the

:20:14. > :20:17.previous world record ride, so much better start, they are instantly on

:20:18. > :20:20.terms, not lagging behind the Americans, this is the point where

:20:21. > :20:27.we would expect them to start making a bit of an inroad. You mentioned

:20:28. > :20:31.Katy Archibald, Chris, Katy Archibald on the front for Great

:20:32. > :20:35.Britain just now she is such a powerful rider, driving away around

:20:36. > :20:39.the bottom of the track and Joanna Rowsell Shand just takes over. Down

:20:40. > :20:43.the back straight go Great Britain with Laura Trott in second place in

:20:44. > :20:51.the line. They are in France now, they have their noses in front of

:20:52. > :20:54.the Americans. Now it is up to four tenths of a second and Great Britain

:20:55. > :20:58.are starting to turn the screw, the pressure with Laura Trott leading

:20:59. > :21:01.the way is being put on the American team in this final. We will see a

:21:02. > :21:07.long time, we sought her lap turn from Trott in the previous ride. We

:21:08. > :21:10.need these big dynamics, it's what she was done. Nine tenths of a

:21:11. > :21:15.second, bang on halfway, the last time they went over the line. Great

:21:16. > :21:20.Britain leading in the race for gold in the women's team pursuit. John

:21:21. > :21:26.Rosol got slightly shallow turn in the previous ride, I think we might

:21:27. > :21:29.see her bail early on, it is long -- some long turns out by the British

:21:30. > :21:33.team. The Americans chipped one tenth of the lead of the Britons,

:21:34. > :21:38.let's look now and see very are. The gap has gone up again to just over

:21:39. > :21:43.eight tenths come nearly nine tenths of a second. Big gaps forming at the

:21:44. > :21:49.American team. There is a little bit more ragged than we've seen before,

:21:50. > :21:54.a strong woman in there is dey got. Five laps to go and six tenths of a

:21:55. > :21:57.second, we knew it would be close and the likelihood is it probably

:21:58. > :22:01.still will be but the USA have gone down to three and dropping off the

:22:02. > :22:06.back for the USA, one of their riders is gone. Kelly Catherine.

:22:07. > :22:12.Four laps to go, Great Britain lead by 1.4 seconds. And there is -- they

:22:13. > :22:16.are still altogether, team effort, I don't think they will finish with

:22:17. > :22:18.four, they will try and get it all out for the American team in all

:22:19. > :22:24.sorts of difficulty, they lost the wrong person when they went down to

:22:25. > :22:28.three. I cannot see the British team coming Ning away from having a gold

:22:29. > :22:31.medal here. Joanna Rowsell Shand just dropped off for Great Britain,

:22:32. > :22:36.they are down to three but they are leading the way with two laps to go.

:22:37. > :22:42.Great Britain heading for the gold medal at the moment, two .7 seconds

:22:43. > :22:46.-- 2.7 seconds is the advantage with Laura Trott still on the track,

:22:47. > :22:49.Elinor Barker and Katy Archibald. Surely this will be a new world

:22:50. > :22:53.record as they take the Bell, they put everything into this, they can

:22:54. > :22:59.see their opponents. The final lap of the Olympic final and it will be

:23:00. > :23:04.a right to glory for Great Britain. One final bed and into the finishing

:23:05. > :23:10.straight. And up towards the line, called for Great Britain! They've

:23:11. > :23:16.smashed the world record. Four minutes to -- 4:10.236, out of this

:23:17. > :23:20.world and a historic moment for British sport. Laura Trott, the

:23:21. > :23:25.first British woman ever to win three Olympic gold medals that she

:23:26. > :23:31.wouldn't have done it without Joanna Rowsell Shand, Elinor Barker and

:23:32. > :23:35.Katy Archibald, what a team they were and what gold-medal winners

:23:36. > :23:40.they are now. Paul Manning, the court on the inside of the track,

:23:41. > :23:44.and the USA, the world champions, have been beaten in the race that

:23:45. > :23:47.really matters here in Rio. The Americans cracked under pressure

:23:48. > :23:52.little bit, they did not use their resources as well as they might, the

:23:53. > :23:57.British team got everything out, absolutely delighted. Even Laura

:23:58. > :24:01.Trott was in difficulty on the final lap, she probably rode over one lap

:24:02. > :24:06.on her own, fighting to stay in contact, it did not matter, they

:24:07. > :24:10.built up such a big lead and the reason it looked ragged is because

:24:11. > :24:13.they were going so fast. What an incredible time. Anyone would look

:24:14. > :24:18.ragged riding at four minutes ten pace in an event like this, nobody

:24:19. > :24:22.has ever gone faster than those four women there, a new world record time

:24:23. > :24:26.but it wasn't about the time, it was about the result, about beating the

:24:27. > :24:30.team on the other side of the track. That is what they've done. Britain

:24:31. > :24:34.were the Olympic champions four years ago and the dominant force in

:24:35. > :24:37.the event in the early years of the event, but in the last couple of

:24:38. > :24:41.years they've not been the champions. Australia and the USA

:24:42. > :24:46.have overtaken them, so they've had to go our and work at it and come

:24:47. > :24:49.back stronger, they had to come back faster and, my word, they certainly

:24:50. > :24:58.have, we just seen the culmination of it. Masters of tapering, every

:24:59. > :25:02.four years now they seem to get it absolutely bang on, they've done it

:25:03. > :25:06.yet again, delighted there, Katy Archibald in that protected position

:25:07. > :25:11.in fourth, boy did she use it well. The powerhouse of the team. Joanna

:25:12. > :25:15.Rowsell Shand, one of the best starters in the world. And Elinor

:25:16. > :25:18.Barker and Katy Archibald in their first Olympic Games are Olympic

:25:19. > :25:24.champions. Barker with just 21, Katy Archibald at 22, Laura Trott herself

:25:25. > :25:28.is still only 24, one imagines there is plenty to come from this team.

:25:29. > :25:37.Smiles all around and well-deserved smiles. The USA really push them

:25:38. > :25:43.hard, it took a blistering world record to win it. Imagine coming

:25:44. > :25:46.year of breaking the world record and almost matching it for the

:25:47. > :25:53.second ride and still not coming out on top? There is Laura Trott,

:25:54. > :25:56.special moment for her as well, as I mentioned before, the first British

:25:57. > :26:00.woman in Olympic history to win three gold medals in any sport. The

:26:01. > :26:18.Golden girls have done it again. You can see the Americans getting

:26:19. > :26:23.carried off. Those pictures, summing up team spirit and how hard they've

:26:24. > :26:26.worked. Laura Trott the left, Joanna Rowsell Shand commonly been good

:26:27. > :26:30.friends and team-mates for a long time but the two new ones coming

:26:31. > :26:35.along and really playing their part, Elinor Barker and Katy Archibald,

:26:36. > :26:40.look at those hugs, the delight. But my word, what a race they had just

:26:41. > :26:44.to win the gold. 4.10 for a world record, it was phenomenal and the

:26:45. > :26:47.Americans did not produce a bad ride, they were almost on the

:26:48. > :26:50.previous world record pace, it was literally halfway through the attack

:26:51. > :26:55.to the start, the Americans, trying to put the Brits under pressure and

:26:56. > :27:00.they responded and it was Laura who produced a two lap spell that just

:27:01. > :27:05.turned things around. They brought up a second gap on it put them under

:27:06. > :27:08.pressure. The rider and the gap opened up and they never looked

:27:09. > :27:15.under any pressure. Manning, the coach coming in, Olympic champion in

:27:16. > :27:20.2008. Great to see the celebrations. So much work has gone into this, and

:27:21. > :27:25.Kieran Warren, the fifth member of the squad, did not write here, she

:27:26. > :27:29.is here, an integral part of the squad. Great to see all of that hard

:27:30. > :27:32.work paying off. It will make their way down to the mix zone, Jill

:27:33. > :27:38.Douglas will be there to greet them and interview them, Laura Trott was

:27:39. > :27:41.comes across as someone who is very funny, she has a fantastic sense of

:27:42. > :27:45.humour but I don't think realises how good she is. She set herself a

:27:46. > :27:49.head of the likes of Dame Kelly Holmes and Becky Adlington of the

:27:50. > :27:53.women who have won two gold medals, Charlotte Dujardin could win a third

:27:54. > :27:58.and possibly on Monday but you think Vicky Pendleton for example would

:27:59. > :28:01.have had to. Laura Trott out on her own now with three and the potential

:28:02. > :28:13.to add another here Rio in the on the. -- on the -- omnium. She's

:28:14. > :28:17.getting married to distant Kenny in September, they will have ten gold

:28:18. > :28:21.medals at home. Let your from them. Laura Trott, the first British woman

:28:22. > :28:24.to win three Olympic gold-medal scholar how precious was that one?

:28:25. > :28:29.It really was, you'd find not think about it in the background but

:28:30. > :28:33.stepping on the start line, it was something I wanted to achieve and to

:28:34. > :28:38.do it alongside these three girls was incredible. The feeling we were

:28:39. > :28:41.getting riding around, it felt like this machine has finally come

:28:42. > :28:45.together and we put our time that we knew we could achieve. A world

:28:46. > :28:49.record, we thought it might take one to win the gold medal. Definitely, I

:28:50. > :28:53.did not think we would do it three times over but come away with a four

:28:54. > :28:56.point ten which is the exact time targeted for us way back when it

:28:57. > :29:00.turned into a four Kay, to come here and achieve it was honestly

:29:01. > :29:06.incredible. Your third gold medal and a chance to make it four this

:29:07. > :29:10.week. I don't want to jinx it! I'm not thinking about it yet. I will

:29:11. > :29:13.let you go, you have to prepare for that omnium and I will have a word

:29:14. > :29:18.with your team-mates. Thank you. Girls, come in now, we could see

:29:19. > :29:22.from the reaction on your faces, once you got over the effort you put

:29:23. > :29:28.in, but this one meant you? It means the world to me, BSkyB near four

:29:29. > :29:33.years to win Olympic gold in London. -- obviously it's been four years.

:29:34. > :29:36.Battle in many ways, became as bronze medallists from the World

:29:37. > :29:40.Championships, not the world record holders and not much has gone our

:29:41. > :29:43.way in the last two years and I'm so proud of how we've pulled together

:29:44. > :29:47.over the last few months and I want it is not team-mates, Ciara Horne

:29:48. > :29:50.who has been reserved for a week and she's been a main part of the team

:29:51. > :29:54.for the last two years and a superb effort on the qualifying rounds to

:29:55. > :29:55.get us here at such a good support this week. I want to mention her

:29:56. > :30:06.being part of this team as well. Your first Olympics and going home

:30:07. > :30:10.with a Gold Medal, it must be a special evening. It is incredible,

:30:11. > :30:19.it's just flashed by. Struggling quite a bit. No wonder I was

:30:20. > :30:27.struggling, it was a shame I couldn't go a bit faster. That's how

:30:28. > :30:32.it goes. You saw your fellow Welsh cyclist Owain Doull doing at last

:30:33. > :30:38.night. He was in the same position as me, maybe it is a Welsh thing. We

:30:39. > :30:41.are proud of you. Katie Archibald Communist the World Championships

:30:42. > :30:43.after that motorcycle crash but coming here after everything you've

:30:44. > :30:54.been through and winning a Gold Medal. Yes, I guess so. We struggled

:30:55. > :30:58.for a bit and the girls, a great ride in London. I've lost a bit of

:30:59. > :31:07.my coherence, to be honest! Not surprised, it was a huge effort. I

:31:08. > :31:13.going to dye my hair gold? Yes, I can give it a go, I don't know. You

:31:14. > :31:17.are closer than I am! Did it feel like you were on world record pace,

:31:18. > :31:23.that you had it in the bag, because we thought it would be close but you

:31:24. > :31:26.really dominated this one. We were convinced it would go down down to

:31:27. > :31:34.the wire, America came out hard against us. They would have a tail

:31:35. > :31:40.on us, trying to close down the gap. I had a sneaky look to see that we

:31:41. > :31:48.were there. We were champing at the bit. We felt like superheroes, I

:31:49. > :31:52.suppose. Thank you very much. A terrific performance from the team

:31:53. > :31:56.pursuit. Could we see another Gold Medal for another female British

:31:57. > :31:58.cyclist? Becky James is up next in the gold-medal race for the keirin.

:31:59. > :32:12.Here is more about her. Looking back, can you believe that

:32:13. > :32:16.this day has arrived and you on the verge of your first Olympics? I

:32:17. > :32:21.really can't. Seven months ago, if you had said to me, keep training

:32:22. > :32:26.hard, you will go to the Olympics, I would have said Mayer, so this is

:32:27. > :32:29.unreal for me. When you look back to the disappointment of missing out in

:32:30. > :32:34.London, what was it like not being involved? Not a lot of fun, missing

:32:35. > :32:39.out was really hard for me. I knew I wasn't in good shape. It was the

:32:40. > :32:45.best thing that happened to me, I could knuckle down on my training

:32:46. > :32:49.through the winter and I had a pretty decent World Championships.

:32:50. > :32:53.The world title is at stake and Becky James is going to do it, the

:32:54. > :32:57.champion of the world. To take home that bag full of

:32:58. > :33:03.medals, what did that do for your confidence? A massive amount, we had

:33:04. > :33:07.a hard camp in Australia and each week I got quicker and quicker and

:33:08. > :33:10.came back to Manchester thinking I couldn't get quicker but I kept

:33:11. > :33:16.getting faster in each session. I went to Belarus thinking that I was

:33:17. > :33:18.in good shape and I had done everything I could and coming away

:33:19. > :33:25.with those medals was a huge confidence boost for me. Pretty good

:33:26. > :33:29.time for me. Yes, she's done it! Becky James, the double world

:33:30. > :33:33.champion. You went from riding on that crest

:33:34. > :33:38.to hitting the buffers. After the world's was at home and to start

:33:39. > :33:43.training hard which is when I picked up my knee injury, from

:33:44. > :33:48.overtraining. 18 months, I struggled with injury, missing a lot of

:33:49. > :33:54.training time. I couldn't imagine riding my bike, let alone a race in

:33:55. > :33:59.that time. In August I was so off the pace and I couldn't see how I

:34:00. > :34:04.could get back to where I was. Support from my family, George, my

:34:05. > :34:09.boyfriend, the staff at British Cycling, they believed in me, they

:34:10. > :34:14.knew that I would get back. I felt bad in the dark days but I'm glad I

:34:15. > :34:16.knuckled through. At the World Championships you showed your

:34:17. > :34:20.strength and you sent out a pretty strong signal to the world. I

:34:21. > :34:25.struggled that season and didn't really get any results in the World

:34:26. > :34:28.Cup and I was losing belief, but after Hong Kong I had five weeks of

:34:29. > :34:33.training until the worlds, and something changed and I was really

:34:34. > :34:39.happy and I thought whatever happens now is going to be. Similar to when

:34:40. > :34:43.I went to Minsk, knowing I had done everything I could to be in the

:34:44. > :34:47.position I was and that's what helped me to get into the final of

:34:48. > :34:51.the keirin. For me it was on a par with winning my world titles because

:34:52. > :34:57.I never would have imagined winning a medal again. Better than a Gold

:34:58. > :35:01.Medal for me and the rest of the team. What are your expectations in

:35:02. > :35:07.Rio? I have no idea, I've done everything I can to do everything

:35:08. > :35:11.right, my diet, my training, I'm going with an open mind and as long

:35:12. > :35:19.as I do my best, I will see what I come away with and I will be happy.

:35:20. > :35:24.A long road back for Becky James but now she gets her chance, she's into

:35:25. > :35:28.the gold-medal race for the keirin. Chris, what does she have to do? She

:35:29. > :35:34.must dictate the tactics of the rest of the riders, don't let them impose

:35:35. > :35:38.themselves on the race. She did it well in the second round. She must

:35:39. > :35:45.get to the front early, but not too early, keep the pace fast, but not

:35:46. > :35:49.too fast. Simple! Is a tricky race, different ways of winning the keirin

:35:50. > :35:54.but for Becky, the best place is to be at the front, staying out of

:35:55. > :35:59.trouble, keeping the pace high, digging deep, remembering the hard

:36:00. > :36:06.work it has taken to get here, using that inspiration and I really think

:36:07. > :36:10.she can end up on the podium. It won't have been part of her

:36:11. > :36:14.preparation, but she will have known that the British women have won gold

:36:15. > :36:20.in the team pursuit. Here we go, the keirin final. COMMENTATOR: The

:36:21. > :36:30.Olympic final and what a line-up we've got. Looking at Kristina

:36:31. > :36:37.Vogel, and there is the rider from the Netherlands, Ellis Ligtlee.

:36:38. > :36:45.Something of a wildcard in the final, Shulika. Voinova, team

:36:46. > :36:49.silver-medallist, beaten by China. Anna Meares, a two-time Olympic,

:36:50. > :36:54.blessed, three-time keirin world champion including last year. A big

:36:55. > :37:01.cheer for Becky James of Great Britain, world champion three years

:37:02. > :37:09.ago. The current world champion, Kristina Vogel. Eight laps to decide

:37:10. > :37:13.who will carry off the gold-medal. We've seen Becky James riding from

:37:14. > :37:19.the fund, we've seen her coming from the back and I think that was quite

:37:20. > :37:24.telling, her mind is working as well as the legs -- from the front. But

:37:25. > :37:28.against stiff competition. As Sir Chris Hoy said, she has a shout of

:37:29. > :37:34.winning the race, absolutely, but it is by no means certain. Due to the

:37:35. > :37:37.health scare and injury problems she's had, she has effectively had

:37:38. > :37:43.to rebuild her career from scratch over the last 12 months. Going

:37:44. > :37:48.towards the back again, quite happily. The tactic worked well for

:37:49. > :37:54.her in the previous round. She started her acceleration in the bend

:37:55. > :37:58.and you think that's not the best place to pass, five metres extra,

:37:59. > :38:03.but she launched down the back straight and was already moving

:38:04. > :38:08.faster. I'm just wondering if she wants to employ that tactic again.

:38:09. > :38:18.The small motorbike accelerates up to wards 45 KPH. Voinova, then Annie

:38:19. > :38:25.Mears, -- Anna Meares, third in line. Then the world champion,

:38:26. > :38:42.Kristina Vogel. Ligtlee, in the orange helmet, in fifth, and

:38:43. > :38:50.bringing up the rear, base over -- Basova from the Ukraine. One of the

:38:51. > :39:00.advantages of being further back, although they cannot pass the

:39:01. > :39:02.motorbike, you can start your acceleration earlier, so when the

:39:03. > :39:10.bike drops off you are moving earlier. Swings and roundabouts.

:39:11. > :39:20.They will be getting twitchy, knowing that the bike is going to

:39:21. > :39:25.disappear off the far side. It will be game over. A two and a half lap

:39:26. > :39:31.scrap for the line. Giving themselves room to work. Checking

:39:32. > :39:35.what is in front and also whether they are going to be boxed in,

:39:36. > :39:43.that's a big danger in the race, being boxed and not able to move.

:39:44. > :39:49.Voinova on the front. The race is on now. Voinova, from Vogel, from Anna

:39:50. > :39:54.Meares. At the back, Becky James in the dark suit. Less than two laps to

:39:55. > :40:00.go, Becky James has plenty to do as Link Lee goes to the front. James

:40:01. > :40:06.needs to go for the forwards -- Ellis Ligtlee. Kristina Vogel coming

:40:07. > :40:09.up to second now. Onto the shoulder of the Dutch woman. Becky James is

:40:10. > :40:14.at the back and now she tries to make inroads. Becky James around the

:40:15. > :40:25.outside, it is a long way. Link Lee Lee's going -- Ellis Ligtlee wins

:40:26. > :40:34.it, I think it is a Silver Medal for Becky James. Ligtlee leading from

:40:35. > :40:38.the front and stayed there, but on the last lap, Becky James powered

:40:39. > :40:43.her way around nearly the entire field, surging towards the line and

:40:44. > :40:48.I'm sure she has won a medal. Massive acceleration, the biggest

:40:49. > :40:54.acceleration of anybody. Having to come such a long way around. It was

:40:55. > :41:00.too much to do. For a moment we thought maybe she can but it was too

:41:01. > :41:04.late. Definitely silver, for Becky James, behind Ligtlee and ahead of

:41:05. > :41:08.Anna Meares who takes the bronze. Ligtlee can hardly believe it, a

:41:09. > :41:16.European champion and now an Olympic champion. And a popular winner too

:41:17. > :41:20.by the looks of it. It was a clean ride, she powered her way to the

:41:21. > :41:25.front and then took control of the race. All eyes were on Becky James

:41:26. > :41:30.who had too much to do, she had to come around every single person.

:41:31. > :41:33.What a result for Becky James when you think of the troubles she has

:41:34. > :41:41.had over the last couple of years. And her coaches are very happy for

:41:42. > :41:44.her. In this event, you've got to be in the hunt and hope it goes your

:41:45. > :41:49.way. Silver Medal, nothing to be sneezed at. Magnificent from

:41:50. > :41:56.Ligtlee, the world silver-medallist. Becky James, what a final lap from

:41:57. > :42:01.her, and it needed to be. Great to see people so happy about winning,

:42:02. > :42:06.isn't it? That's the bit about sport we like, seeing the emotion, all of

:42:07. > :42:10.that work and time dedicated and in a fraction of a second it is over

:42:11. > :42:14.and she can't believe she has got it won. Becky James' family seeing her,

:42:15. > :42:21.what a special moment that is. Olympics over medal for Becky James

:42:22. > :42:26.in the women's keirin. I think she's got to be pleased with that. Her

:42:27. > :42:31.family are delighted she is back racing and safe. Anna Meares,

:42:32. > :42:40.experienced campaigner, always seems to get something. George North, her

:42:41. > :42:44.boyfriend, joining in the celebrations. Special moment for the

:42:45. > :42:49.family. They have been along with her over the last couple of years,

:42:50. > :42:54.all of the troubles she's had, that career threatening injury, a long

:42:55. > :43:00.way back. It will feel worth it now after a ride like that and an

:43:01. > :43:04.Olympic medal. A very popular rider in the team, great to see these

:43:05. > :43:21.celebrations. And that, you can see how much it

:43:22. > :43:25.means to everybody, but also George North, they are giving her so much

:43:26. > :43:29.support, he is a grand slam winner with Wales. Sometimes it takes a

:43:30. > :43:34.sportsman to understand what another sports person is going through.

:43:35. > :43:38.Posing for the family photo. Terrific stuff from Becky James and

:43:39. > :43:42.you were very tense, Chris, because she was in a bad position with a lap

:43:43. > :43:48.to go. It was difficult because she was time to -- trying to get to the

:43:49. > :43:52.front and if you try and attack when the pace is high, you can be hung

:43:53. > :43:57.out to dry, so she had to be patient and she left it until one lap to go

:43:58. > :44:01.before she started her move. She is right at the back, the Dutch girl is

:44:02. > :44:08.at the front, there isn't much option. Starting to make her move,

:44:09. > :44:12.around the outside. You can see the turn of pace, appearing out of

:44:13. > :44:18.nowhere and although she has the pace, she is going four wide. It is

:44:19. > :44:21.the last few metres, surging through, just pipping Anna Meares,

:44:22. > :44:26.one of the greatest female sprinters of all time. So pleased for her. We

:44:27. > :44:32.have to say, this isn't a guaranteed medal, it is a difficult event and

:44:33. > :44:37.it is fantastic for her. Wonderful injection and it is the sustained

:44:38. > :44:45.pace, that has got to hurt. It is painful, it is no fee. It is one of

:44:46. > :44:54.these things, you need the courage, we spoke about it earlier -- nervy.

:44:55. > :44:58.Her coach since she was first on the team, involved in the programme.

:44:59. > :45:05.Great moment for the team, she is popular with the team. A great

:45:06. > :45:10.moment. This is almost like a bonus. Some on the team were bankers,

:45:11. > :45:14.hopefully the Omni and is a banker, the team sprint was a surprise and

:45:15. > :45:20.this was too. We knew it was possible, good to see her doing so

:45:21. > :45:24.well. Kristina Vogel, the favourite, she was in sixth Place, showing you

:45:25. > :45:26.how surprisingly it is. It is a terrifying events to watch and to

:45:27. > :45:39.have to come from so high. Many congratulations, musical about

:45:40. > :45:45.dog days coming into these Olympics for the last two years, just what

:45:46. > :45:48.does that win mean? I'm lost for words, I don't think I've ever been

:45:49. > :45:52.lost for words. I can't believe that just happened. I'm over the moon, I

:45:53. > :45:58.came in with really good form and that is what I love the Keirin and

:45:59. > :46:01.the racing and once I got through the first round I thought I would

:46:02. > :46:07.enjoy the entire day of racing and I don't know, I was at the back and

:46:08. > :46:12.thinking, when do I go? I had so much speed in the last half. I don't

:46:13. > :46:16.know where it came from. I was so desperate for the medal. You fought

:46:17. > :46:20.so hard to see you celebrating with your family, I know they often come

:46:21. > :46:24.to watch -- they cannot often come to watch you, her special wasn't for

:46:25. > :46:27.them to be here? So special, I have ten of them here which is

:46:28. > :46:30.incredible, my mum has never been on a long haul flight, they've never

:46:31. > :46:38.watched a race together apart from world this year, it is incredible

:46:39. > :46:42.and have enjoyed my auntie, I've had so much support from British

:46:43. > :46:44.cycling, everyone, it has been a difficult 18 months, two years and I

:46:45. > :46:51.couldn't have done it without their help. This will be a male we've all

:46:52. > :46:55.one together. -- a medal. Congratulations. Thank you.

:46:56. > :46:58.Wonderful from Becky James but we will go straight to the semifinals

:46:59. > :47:04.of the men's sprint, Jason Kenny in the first of them against Dennis

:47:05. > :47:09.Dmitriev, this will be close. I think you're right because Dmitriev

:47:10. > :47:13.as we've seen is a canny operator and he has an excellent record. A

:47:14. > :47:17.medallist in the World Championship in each of the last four years, very

:47:18. > :47:23.much a contender from the start of the competition, into the last four

:47:24. > :47:25.now, best-of-3 to go through to the file itself. Jason Kenny the

:47:26. > :47:33.defending Olympic champion, leading on this first lap of three and Calum

:47:34. > :47:35.Skinner is the other semifinal against Matt Glaetzer from

:47:36. > :47:41.Australia, two cracking semifinals to look forward to in theory.

:47:42. > :47:46.Dmitrieva has shown some real power riding to this point. I think Jason

:47:47. > :47:52.Kenny has more flexibility and scope for different styles of tactic but a

:47:53. > :47:56.difficult man. Interesting how this one will go, Kenny has looked so

:47:57. > :48:03.cool since the start of this competition. Really confident in his

:48:04. > :48:08.own form and in control just now. Happy to keep this one down the

:48:09. > :48:11.bottom. By doing so forces his opponents to have to try and

:48:12. > :48:14.accelerate over the top, so every time his opponent moves up the

:48:15. > :48:24.banking Jason has to mirror that move and increase the speed, always

:48:25. > :48:30.a combination of distance and speed. Dmitriev trying to slow, this

:48:31. > :48:38.weaving is just trying to keep Jason Kenny guessing as to what he will

:48:39. > :48:44.do. Jason Kenny's head needs to be asked whether just now. He has done

:48:45. > :48:48.the job of leading of ad hoc walking pace but now the race is open and

:48:49. > :48:54.they start accelerating. Here go with Dmitriev -- Dmitriev have a

:48:55. > :48:57.look on inside and finding the door shut on his face as they take the

:48:58. > :49:01.bell and the race is on, Jason Kenny will take it from the front, still

:49:02. > :49:05.keeping his eye on Dmitriev he must get on with it on the back straight.

:49:06. > :49:09.Dmitriev with a fine burst of pace trolls level of edges in front but

:49:10. > :49:13.as they come into the finishing straight neck and neck, Dmitriev

:49:14. > :49:17.gets it and for the first time in this competition Jason Kenny is

:49:18. > :49:21.beaten and he has to win the next right to stay in it. That was a

:49:22. > :49:27.superb ride, looked like he was drawn onto the wheel to early but a

:49:28. > :49:31.superior acceleration in the back straight, did a fantastic job. Was a

:49:32. > :49:37.by that, Kenny has been very confidence so far. As Mike was a

:49:38. > :49:47.little surprised. That was some flower power of firepower. Dmitriev

:49:48. > :49:55.was fantastic, searing pace. Jason Kenny was unable to keep up with us

:49:56. > :49:58.here as -- cubit is again. Dmitriev almost a mirror image of Kenny but

:49:59. > :50:03.when it encountered is drag race Dmitriev at the power to drive over

:50:04. > :50:10.the top. Once he got level in that final bend he is effectively going

:50:11. > :50:13.one kilometre per hour faster. Frustration you can see the body

:50:14. > :50:18.language of Jason Kenny as he crosses the line. Very annoyed with

:50:19. > :50:23.himself and how that turned out. Fast sprinting, 10.1 and they are

:50:24. > :50:27.delighted. Not sure they were expecting it either, but we said

:50:28. > :50:32.earlier in this competition he was the dark horse and he's proving to

:50:33. > :50:36.be that one race up. The pressure is really on Jason Kenny now next time

:50:37. > :50:44.out. Coming up on the track is the second of the semifinals, race one,

:50:45. > :50:47.Calum Skinner against Matt Glaetzer. What the matchup this could be

:50:48. > :50:53.between these two. Both have been very assertive so far in this

:50:54. > :51:00.competition and both have dominated the race is they been involved in.

:51:01. > :51:02.Matt Glaetzer is a fiery and passionate performer, very agile on

:51:03. > :51:11.the track and slightly different parties to what he dealt with so

:51:12. > :51:15.far. Acquitted himself like he has lived here all his life. Improved

:51:16. > :51:21.his form is dramatically to help them win that team sprint gold

:51:22. > :51:22.medal, now he's seeing how far he can go and I think we're about to

:51:23. > :51:33.find out. Mind games there, Skinner looking

:51:34. > :51:40.across at Glaetzer. The Luke Wood turned by the Australian. And it is

:51:41. > :51:45.on. As I mentioned earlier, the rider who draws number-1 is obliged

:51:46. > :51:49.to lead off for at least half a lap at the -- at least a walking pace,

:51:50. > :51:53.after that they want a standstill they can for a maximum of 30

:51:54. > :51:58.seconds. We've not seen much of that on the 250 metre tracks, the

:51:59. > :52:04.finishing straight is so short there isn't a huge advantage to be at the

:52:05. > :52:13.back of the time, so races tend to be a little quicker. Right now it is

:52:14. > :52:16.all tactics. Calum Skinner slowly rolling around the track, watching

:52:17. > :52:23.the Australian like a Hawk, watching every move he makes. Glaetzer

:52:24. > :52:25.manages to get that big powerful form scrunched up into an incredibly

:52:26. > :52:36.aerodynamic package, really stretched out on his bike and holds

:52:37. > :52:40.it even when under full pressure. The pace going up now, the

:52:41. > :52:44.Australian taking it up the track and Skinner obliged to match that,

:52:45. > :52:47.but doesn't want and commentaries, which is why they switched around

:52:48. > :52:52.the track, he knows he has to come along way around and Glaetzer

:52:53. > :52:55.accelerates, the race is on. Skinner still looking and watching the

:52:56. > :52:58.inside, making sure the Australian does not go down as they take the

:52:59. > :53:04.bell, there into the last lap and they will go hell for never --

:53:05. > :53:07.leather to the line, does he have the speed doubled on? Glaetzer

:53:08. > :53:11.working hard to try and draw level as they come towards the line but he

:53:12. > :53:16.cannot do it. That is a great ride by Calum Skinner. Remarkable, as

:53:17. > :53:21.fast as they come back, written from the front, 10.1 is a very fast time

:53:22. > :53:25.and that was the best sprint I think we've seen from him in that series.

:53:26. > :53:29.Glaetzer did it right, he laid off and kept his height late and they

:53:30. > :53:32.might have been an error I would have thought but he just had the

:53:33. > :53:37.power when it mattered. Physically strong and mentally tough as well,

:53:38. > :53:41.Calum Skinner. Not intimidated by the situation he is in in this match

:53:42. > :53:45.Brent. He is a man with nothing to lose, he is already on cloud nine

:53:46. > :53:50.and what time to produce the sprint of your life. Calum Skinner is now

:53:51. > :53:56.one win away from the Olympic final and going for gold. Jason Kenny is

:53:57. > :54:00.one defeat away from having to go for bronze. Here we see Calum

:54:01. > :54:05.Skinner, who led the sprint from start to finish and Glaetzer gave

:54:06. > :54:10.everything he had but couldn't draw level and overtake the British

:54:11. > :54:18.riders. Calum Skinner draws first blood in the semifinal.

:54:19. > :54:24.A great start for Calum Skinner. What about Jason Kenny? Was hoisted

:54:25. > :54:28.in alongside me, did you always hated being the one that had to

:54:29. > :54:30.lead? Is that the disadvantage? It depends on your strengths and

:54:31. > :54:35.weaknesses, I prefer riding from behind to create a gap and rush my

:54:36. > :54:38.opponent and try and pass them at the end, it depends on your

:54:39. > :54:41.strengths, Jason is usually very good at leading from the front, he

:54:42. > :54:46.has good acceleration and a great top end speed, he was doing OK

:54:47. > :54:49.there, the problem was he allowed Dmitriev to push him on and start

:54:50. > :54:54.accelerating too soon and that was the real problem, he is frustrated,

:54:55. > :55:01.think that was a tactical error rather than a lack of speed but

:55:02. > :55:08.Dmitriev, that was a great ride. Here we go, he was pushing him on,

:55:09. > :55:11.Jason started effort now, to -- Dmitriev steps that ahead and if

:55:12. > :55:13.your head was 100 metres to go on the outside will be ahead at the

:55:14. > :55:20.finishing line and that is what Dmitriev did. It was catching him

:55:21. > :55:24.napping a little bit. Jason wasn't expecting him to come at that speed

:55:25. > :55:27.early and SINGING Launched one.

:55:28. > :55:33.Dmitriev will have to lead in their second race. Yes but he is good from

:55:34. > :55:36.the front as well. Dmitriev cause you don't the front line, that is

:55:37. > :55:40.when he's dangerous was a dismal gain height of greater gap and get

:55:41. > :55:43.himself to play with and run at him was a dismal gain height of greater

:55:44. > :55:46.gap and get himself room to play with and run at him with all his

:55:47. > :55:49.bid. He is renowned for the 200 and Dmitriev is in the 9.8 so few users

:55:50. > :55:53.should be can beat him and if he is drawn into the acceleration badly is

:55:54. > :55:57.difficult. Calum Skinner comes into the Olympics slightly without

:55:58. > :56:02.enthusiasm and naivete of youth. He is the one who's defending champion,

:56:03. > :56:08.Jason Kenny is. Calum Skinner impressing everyone. Fantastic spell

:56:09. > :56:11.control. Again, what he didn't do wrong is going to syndrome he is

:56:12. > :56:15.waiting and that is where he started effort, meaning he only half a lap

:56:16. > :56:23.and still accelerating. Glaetzer was closing Calum had left in the tank

:56:24. > :56:31.and 10.1.1 is incredible -- ten .11 is incredible. It takes a lot out of

:56:32. > :56:34.them and they will ors all feel it together, they will all hurt now for

:56:35. > :56:39.how long do they have to recover? Are not sure tonight, normally it is

:56:40. > :56:43.a short gap between the second ride and third right, we know that Jason

:56:44. > :56:47.hopefully will go to three rides and if it does there will be a short gap

:56:48. > :56:50.and it will be, that is where it is difficult, the world champions at

:56:51. > :56:53.the final right-wing greater and Jason you could see the incident on

:56:54. > :56:55.the start line waiting to go on their chests are going up and down,

:56:56. > :56:59.they were still breathing really hard from the previous effort and

:57:00. > :57:03.that is when the training and covering and hard work it is not

:57:04. > :57:06.just about one of effort, it is about repeated efforts through the

:57:07. > :57:09.day. The action has been coming thick and fast, we seen a gold medal

:57:10. > :57:12.and we will have that ceremony in a moment, silver medal as well for

:57:13. > :57:18.Becky James and in the meantime on Centre Court one of the best venues

:57:19. > :57:25.Olympic Park, what a semifinal, this further rights to meet Andy Murray

:57:26. > :57:31.in the gold-medal match tomorrow this match point Mateen Del Porto of

:57:32. > :57:35.Argentina, -- Del Potro Argentina. The match lasted three hours and

:57:36. > :57:41.eight minutes. It was Nadal's 11 match in 60s, already winning the

:57:42. > :57:46.doubles and four Del Potro, who took bronze in London, he will now be

:57:47. > :57:51.going for gold. What a comeback for him, so many injury problems. He is

:57:52. > :57:54.back at the top of tennis. Disappointment for Nadal, but look

:57:55. > :57:58.at Del Potro going into the crowd, all the Argentinian fans and his

:57:59. > :58:05.supporters, wonderful. He will tomorrow at about 7:30am your time

:58:06. > :58:08.play Andy Murray for gold, meanwhile, this is the gold-medal

:58:09. > :58:12.match for the women, Angelique Kerber, Australian Open champion and

:58:13. > :58:21.runner-up at Wimbledon against monster quake -- Puig of Porta

:58:22. > :58:29.recovered be the underdog but started well, 2-2. That available on

:58:30. > :58:33.the Red Button later tonight. We will get to see more fire and Greg

:58:34. > :58:37.Rutherford and Jessica Ennis-Hill Katarina Johnson-Thompson, all of

:58:38. > :58:40.those in action in the athletics, but this, the moment that the

:58:41. > :58:45.women's team can celebrate their gold medal in the pursuit. Casey

:58:46. > :58:49.Eichfeld, Elinor Barker, Joel Rosol Shands and Laura Trott, who today

:58:50. > :58:55.became the first women from Great Britain to win three Olympic gold

:58:56. > :59:03.medals. Special day for them and it was great to watch. Not one world

:59:04. > :59:13.record today, but two. And now, the medal ceremony itself.

:59:14. > :59:25.Consistency from the Canadian squad, making it to the podium. Finishing

:59:26. > :59:35.third in London in 2012. The United States gave everything they had. In

:59:36. > :59:40.the end they were too ragged, they couldn't hold it together as both

:59:41. > :59:52.teams were fighting at world record pace to land the Gold Medal.

:59:53. > :59:58.Phenomenal riding by the British. We have been awarding man of the match

:59:59. > :00:04.awards here, woman of the match, Kate Archibald was so strong,

:00:05. > :00:13.putting in two and I lap turns and she put in the killing blow and

:00:14. > :00:21.accelerated. So, bronze for Canada again. They were too good for New

:00:22. > :00:25.Zealand in that race for third place. We thought it would be a

:00:26. > :00:29.closely fought contest but Canada were far and away the better of the

:00:30. > :00:35.two teams in this, their third ride of the competition. Alison

:00:36. > :00:39.Beveridge, the Pan American gold-medallist in the team pursuit,

:00:40. > :00:45.bronze in the road race as well, now has an Olympic bronze medal. Jasmine

:00:46. > :00:54.blazer, winning bronze four years ago in this event -- Glazer. Kirsty

:00:55. > :01:01.Lay, the former speed skater. More than playing her part, as did George

:01:02. > :01:12.Simmerling, from Vancouver. Three different Olympic Games -- Georgia.

:01:13. > :01:15.Three medals. Finishing with bronze and silver in the last couple of

:01:16. > :01:21.World Championships so we knew that they would be there or thereabouts.

:01:22. > :01:25.There was no real feeling it would be anything other than the United

:01:26. > :01:28.States and Great Britain and maybe Australia, who were knocked out of

:01:29. > :01:36.the running because of a crash in training a couple of days before the

:01:37. > :01:44.competition. The silver-medallists... The Americans

:01:45. > :01:48.are not looking very happy about it at the moment after breaking the

:01:49. > :01:53.world record. They must have been thinking they could get gold.

:01:54. > :01:59.They've broken their own world record but they ended up with

:02:00. > :02:03.silver. Sarah Hammer, she is the driving force in that team and do

:02:04. > :02:07.you think maybe sometimes she is too much of a driving force which does

:02:08. > :02:12.this is only help the others? I don't think teams have learned to

:02:13. > :02:16.get the best out of her. Her speed profile, quite up and down. It tells

:02:17. > :02:22.me that the strength, you need to work for longer to give the weaker

:02:23. > :02:25.riders more of a rest. I think real tactical potential for them to

:02:26. > :02:31.improve their performance and threatened for a gold in future.

:02:32. > :02:37.Jennifer Valente, the last American rider to receive her medal. Kelly

:02:38. > :02:46.kaplin, second from the left, she is also a concept vilest -- Catlin.

:02:47. > :02:54.Often heard practising in the hotels where they are staying. Quite a

:02:55. > :03:00.mixture of abilities, isn't it? Dygert, also a strong rider in the

:03:01. > :03:04.team. Coming up now, the moment that a good number of the people inside

:03:05. > :03:10.the velodrome had come to see. Certainly the moment we were hoping

:03:11. > :03:17.to see and hear it is stop the Olympic champions -- and here it is.

:03:18. > :03:23.The Olympic champions... Great Britain! CHEERING

:03:24. > :03:33.Olympic champions again, as they were in London four years ago. Kate

:03:34. > :03:36.Archibald, Laura Trott, Elinor Barker and Joanna Rowsell Shand.

:03:37. > :03:45.Doing it in a blistering world record time. Katie Archibald, in her

:03:46. > :03:50.first Olympic Games, a Gold Medal to add to the one world title she has

:03:51. > :03:56.won. Laura Trott, her third Olympic gold. The Omnium is still to come.

:03:57. > :04:03.Elinor Barker, and 21, another in her first Games. And Joanna Rowsell

:04:04. > :04:08.Shand, who has been such a key part of the squad, she was riding in

:04:09. > :04:18.London and this is her second Olympic crown. Archibald, those long

:04:19. > :04:22.turns she put in. Jo Rowsell-Shand, always the starter in these events,

:04:23. > :04:26.the one with the power to get off the mark. Just to reiterate, this

:04:27. > :04:33.wasn't a foregone conclusion, they hadn't won either of the last World

:04:34. > :04:38.Championships. Now, back on the top of the podium. And here comes the

:04:39. > :05:35.national anthem. The United States laid down the

:05:36. > :05:40.gauntlet at the World Championships earlier in the year and also here in

:05:41. > :05:49.Rio and the British women responded and prevailed to claim gold.

:05:50. > :06:00.And now the celebrations can really start.

:06:01. > :06:05.And there is a special athlete who I think we'll be seeing on the front

:06:06. > :06:12.pages of newspapers tomorrow. All four of them, hopefully. World

:06:13. > :06:17.record-breaking in her own right, three golds, she can't celebrate

:06:18. > :06:26.because she has more work to do. The Omnium is coming up and expectations

:06:27. > :06:30.there for herself and of her -- and her form is fairly fantastic. Becky

:06:31. > :06:32.James still to come to the podium for the ceremony for the women's

:06:33. > :06:46.keirin, to take her Silver Medal. STUDIO: Sir Chris Hoy is alongside

:06:47. > :06:50.me watching the ceremony. I think they did well, I would start crying,

:06:51. > :06:58.sorry! When you hear the national anthem, I think it's so emotional! I

:06:59. > :07:04.don't, I have never cried! I think when you are part of a team, it can

:07:05. > :07:11.be far more emotional, you realise what you have gone through together.

:07:12. > :07:15.Laura has another race to come, realising she has the Omnium to

:07:16. > :07:21.focus on. They seem so happy and why not, they've broken the world record

:07:22. > :07:25.twice, three times to get the Gold Medal, fantastic performance. How

:07:26. > :07:31.has British cycling improve the depth and talent of female cyclists

:07:32. > :07:36.in the last 4-8 years? For the team pursuit in particular, because the

:07:37. > :07:41.event has grown to have four riders per team, they have had to cast the

:07:42. > :07:45.net wider because you want to have a squad of eight, to whittle it down

:07:46. > :07:53.to five and finally the quartet of the race. Not just the track, the

:07:54. > :07:57.road as well. We are looking for future BMX champions. Bethany

:07:58. > :08:04.Shreve, a great hope for the future. A lot of great cyclists in the

:08:05. > :08:08.British squad and they have won more medals in the World Championships,

:08:09. > :08:12.the women, than the men have. I suspect that photo will be on the

:08:13. > :08:16.back page if not the front page of a lot of newspapers tomorrow morning.

:08:17. > :08:21.Laura Trott, second from the right, her own little piece of history as

:08:22. > :08:25.an individual but she is such a team player, she won't even be thinking

:08:26. > :08:29.about that. She knows how much she owes to everybody else but in the

:08:30. > :08:33.context of that race she made such a difference. She made a huge

:08:34. > :08:36.contribution, it was a significant moment when she hit the front,

:08:37. > :08:41.opening the gap over the Americans and it broke them, really. Classy

:08:42. > :08:45.ride from all of them and they thoroughly deserved it. Ciara Horne,

:08:46. > :08:51.the fifth member of the squad, very tough for her. Mixed emotions: proud

:08:52. > :08:55.and happy for the girls but sad to have moved out on the chance to

:08:56. > :09:01.experience it herself. No doubt she'll be fighting to get into the

:09:02. > :09:06.squad for Tokyo in four years' time. Laura is keeping an eye out, you can

:09:07. > :09:10.see that she is searching around because her fiance, Jason Kenny is

:09:11. > :09:15.in a real battle to get through to a decider in the men's sprint. He was

:09:16. > :09:19.beaten in the first of the best of three races by Denis Dmitriev. We

:09:20. > :09:24.will see the next race on BBC Two shortly. Jason Kenny has got to win

:09:25. > :09:31.it to take it to a decider. Can he, in a word? Yes! He gives you the

:09:32. > :09:35.word! He is full of confidence. It has been a good night for the

:09:36. > :09:38.British cyclists in the velodrome. Hopefully more to come, Callum

:09:39. > :09:42.Skinner and Jason Kenny are trying to get through to the men's sprint

:09:43. > :09:46.final. If they meet each other it would be in the Gold Medal race but

:09:47. > :09:49.Jason Kenny must win his next race in order to take it to a decider and

:09:50. > :09:53.to get through to the Gold Medal match. It is tense! Join us on BBC

:09:54. > :09:55.Two and see if the success The dark forces

:09:56. > :09:58.will destroy everything. To save us all,

:09:59. > :10:05.two enemies must unite.
