:01:06. > :01:19.It is Saturday, the Olympic Games. Time for some golds.
:01:20. > :01:31.He can go away with another Olympic title. 8.20 two. Rutherford has
:01:32. > :01:42.taken the lead. Mo Farah content to be at the back. It is a massive
:01:43. > :01:49.throw for Jessica Ennis-Hill. While! The tension starts to build a little
:01:50. > :02:02.bit. Mo has fallen. He is quickly back-up. Henderson as jumped. 8.30
:02:03. > :02:09.eight. 8.29. A bronze medal, stopwatches at the ready. Jess
:02:10. > :02:15.couldn't do any more. Here comes Mo Farah. Mo Farah wins the gold. This
:02:16. > :02:21.takes him into a place no British athlete has ever been.
:02:22. > :02:27.ORE ODUBA: It wasn't quite Super Saturday, but the wee hours of
:02:28. > :02:31.Sunday morning were sensational. Even more drama created by Mo Farah,
:02:32. > :02:36.Jessica Ennis-Hill and Greg Rutherford will stop it really was
:02:37. > :02:42.quite the night. Good afternoon, everybody, and welcome to day nine
:02:43. > :02:46.in sunny scorching real. Unfortunately, it wasn't the three
:02:47. > :02:50.gold medals that we came away with four years ago. But they got a full
:02:51. > :02:55.house, bronze, silver and gold. It doesn't get too much better than
:02:56. > :03:01.that. I'm sad to say that this time next week, you know what? It will
:03:02. > :03:05.all be coming to an end at Rio 2016. The good news is we have a whole
:03:06. > :03:11.week to enjoy, starting today. Here is what is coming up.
:03:12. > :03:18.It is the closing stages of the group stage in the badminton. We
:03:19. > :03:25.will be going to the real central Pavilion is very soon. The
:03:26. > :03:28.show-jumping starts down at the equestrian centre, Great Britain are
:03:29. > :03:35.the reigning champions. How can they do in 2016? It is almost time for
:03:36. > :03:45.Justin Rose to take to the stage in the Gulf. Can he come away with
:03:46. > :03:52.gold? -- the golf. Table tennis is into the team events.
:03:53. > :04:02.In the boxing, Ireland's star Michael Conlon goes into the ring.
:04:03. > :04:04.The world, Commonwealth and European champion. Can he add Olympic gold to
:04:05. > :04:09.his repertoire? Day nine on BBC Four looks like this
:04:10. > :04:35.for you. Over on BBC One... That is a nice
:04:36. > :04:40.shot, isn't it? Beautiful shot sweeping down on the coast in Rio.
:04:41. > :04:43.It is married on time. They will be doing that on BBC One starting in
:04:44. > :04:45.about 25 minutes or so. If the marathon is what you want, that is
:04:46. > :05:13.the place to go. But now here on BBC fore... Very
:05:14. > :05:17.nice of them to name the channel after me. Great Britain's Justin
:05:18. > :05:21.Rose is on the cusp of Olympic history. After 112 years, waiting
:05:22. > :05:25.for an Olympic tournament in the sport, he is the man leading the
:05:26. > :05:30.way. It was always going to be memorable, but after the hole-in-one
:05:31. > :05:32.he scored on the first stage, Justin Rose was steadily moving up the
:05:33. > :05:38.leaderboard. He is now one round away from taking the Gold Medal. He
:05:39. > :05:45.is a self claimed Olympic ban. How good would it be if he walked away
:05:46. > :05:58.from real with the gold around -- walked away from Rio? A pair of
:05:59. > :06:02.Eagles put him on 12-under. The leader after two rounds, Marcus
:06:03. > :06:08.Fraser, is back in third. Bubba Watson hasn't had the most
:06:09. > :06:13.spectacular of tournaments. He has pulled off some good shots, but he
:06:14. > :06:24.is still in with a medal shout. It is Rose's Toulouse. Kat Downes is
:06:25. > :06:31.looking forward to it all. Thank you. I am joined by Jamie
:06:32. > :06:35.Spence, Team GB's leader. Thanks for coming down on a busy day. How are
:06:36. > :06:41.they feeling? They went up to late last night, where they, watching
:06:42. > :06:45.Jess, Mo and Greg? We watched the athletics, which was fantastic. We
:06:46. > :06:50.had tickets, but he was more tired than I was. We stayed in. Justin is
:06:51. > :06:54.in his house chilling out for the evening. It takes it out of you
:06:55. > :06:59.here. Especially if you go to all the events. They did that earlier in
:07:00. > :07:09.the week, so it is just golf for now. A great day yesterday for
:07:10. > :07:12.Justin. How is he looking and feeling this morning? Very
:07:13. > :07:16.confident. He is up against a formidable opponent in Henrik
:07:17. > :07:22.They are good friends, they played together in the Ryder Cup. Both
:07:23. > :07:29.their caddies are the best of pals, as well. I am not sure it is just
:07:30. > :07:34.between them too. Golf is a strange game. There is no wind at the
:07:35. > :07:38.moment, so it will be difficult for others to catch them. Justin has
:07:39. > :07:43.really wanted this. He has prepared for this tournament like no other in
:07:44. > :07:48.the past. His preparation has been just incredible, his diligence all
:07:49. > :07:52.week, his work ethic and I could say the same for his caddy, what they
:07:53. > :07:55.have done to get to this position so far. We can't control many things,
:07:56. > :08:00.but the things you can control, he has done an exemplary job.
:08:01. > :08:04.Conditions are pretty perfect. Justin plays a lot of golf in
:08:05. > :08:10.America, he is used to this heat. There is not a breath of wind. That
:08:11. > :08:16.is good and bad. Someone behind can shoot low scores. Danny Willett is
:08:17. > :08:20.not without a chance of a bronze. If you can get to double figures... He
:08:21. > :08:26.has played some good golf this week. It might happen today and if he can
:08:27. > :08:31.get to double figures, the bronze medal is a play-off if you tie. That
:08:32. > :08:37.can be exciting. One of the medals will be a play-off. If I were Henrik
:08:38. > :08:41.or Justin, I would want tougher conditions. That stops someone
:08:42. > :08:46.charging through the pack. It will be a tense day. Good medal prospects
:08:47. > :08:53.for Team GB. Justin Rose, Henrik Stenson, that leading pack tee off
:08:54. > :08:59.at 1039 hour time, 2:39pm your time. Be sure not to miss it.
:09:00. > :09:03.ORE ODUBA: Let's go live and see how the golf course is looking this
:09:04. > :09:06.afternoon. The leaders go off in a couple of hours. We will keep you
:09:07. > :09:13.updated on BBC Four. If you want to watch the action live, on the BBC
:09:14. > :09:18.website, the application and the Red Button. Almost perfect conditions
:09:19. > :09:23.for golf down there on the course. Not the easiest conditions for
:09:24. > :09:26.broadcasting. We are already touching 31 degrees, so we are
:09:27. > :09:31.warming up. It is OK, we can't complain about the heat. We are
:09:32. > :09:35.British, but we do. We are going to go further away from the Olympic
:09:36. > :09:40.Park and kick-off with some badminton in a face-off between
:09:41. > :09:52.Japan and Malaysia. Let's see how group K is looking. Both have played
:09:53. > :09:56.one and 11. This is the final match of their group and only the winner
:09:57. > :10:05.will make it through into the next round. It is a must win match for
:10:06. > :10:06.both ladies. Peter Blackburn can take us through this one. Japan
:10:07. > :10:44.against Malaysia. We think it is good judgment on the
:10:45. > :10:57.back line. Already a challenge so early in the match. Jing Yi Tee. The
:10:58. > :11:04.judge called it in. Now it will go to a challenge. We just now wait for
:11:05. > :11:31.the review. Oh, just out. A good call by Tee
:11:32. > :11:32.Jing Yi. She was right on top of the shuttle, so she had the best view of
:11:33. > :11:50.anybody. Good smash, taking the shuttle early
:11:51. > :12:02.down the line. Nicely played by Tee Jing Yi. She will be really wanting
:12:03. > :12:06.to try to direct the play from the commencement of this match. Just
:12:07. > :12:14.going wide of the line, overplaying it. Tee Jing Yi can dominate direct
:12:15. > :12:23.play from the centre of the court, it will set her up well. She is up
:12:24. > :12:32.against a formidable opponent in Yamaguchi.
:12:33. > :12:47.Sky is the direction very well there, Yamaguchi.
:12:48. > :13:02.Good judgment on the sideline. It is her trademark shot, the smash down
:13:03. > :13:06.the line. Incredible reach. So powerful with the racquet head as
:13:07. > :13:08.she brings it through. Good judgment on the back line again by Tee Jing
:13:09. > :13:43.Yi. Little bit fortunate there, Tee Jing
:13:44. > :13:50.Yi. Just caught the top of the net and trickled over. Yamaguchi
:13:51. > :14:04.hammering the back corner. Covered the shuttle well.
:14:05. > :14:08.The net role not working for Yamaguchi, this is a very good start
:14:09. > :14:48.for the Malaysian. . That is a nice shot by Jing Yi
:14:49. > :15:09.Tee, bringing it down on the cross court. Nice reverse angle.
:15:10. > :15:12.That isn't working for Akane Yamaguchi. She's bringing it into
:15:13. > :15:30.tight. A few errors from the racket of
:15:31. > :16:02.Yamaguchi in this first game. Great angle on the crosscourt by
:16:03. > :16:05.Yamaguchi. Jing Yi Tee was at full stretch, trying to control the
:16:06. > :16:39.shuttle but it was well anticipated by the Japanese player.
:16:40. > :16:52.Just missing the line. That was a great rally. And really working the
:16:53. > :16:55.angles. Both players moving each other the full length of the court,
:16:56. > :17:53.but overplaying that crosscourt. Very close to the line there. It has
:17:54. > :17:56.been called in. Yamaguchi, she had a look and I thought she might
:17:57. > :18:00.challenge on that one. It would have drawn her within two. Now it is back
:18:01. > :18:05.out to a four point lead for the Malaysians. You just sense that
:18:06. > :18:12.Yamaguchi was getting herself back into the game and the momentum seems
:18:13. > :18:21.to be back with her so it was a big point.
:18:22. > :18:58.Great pick-up but just missing the line. Jing Yi Tee leading 11-6.
:18:59. > :19:06.Just robbing on the line so judgment wasn't quite as accurate for her
:19:07. > :19:08.there. Some good shuttles at the back of the court and this game.
:19:09. > :19:33.That one is out. Letting the shuttle drop a little
:19:34. > :19:55.bit, she snatched at the shuttle. The net not working for Yamaguchi.
:19:56. > :19:59.She hasn't had the touch to deliver it. She has the right idea, bringing
:20:00. > :20:05.her up and the full diagonal of the court, but she has to be able to
:20:06. > :20:10.complete the shot. She needs to take the shuttle further out in front of
:20:11. > :20:15.her, maybe. That time again missing the net, so quite a few errors for
:20:16. > :20:21.Yamaguchi. She is in position but just ragging it down, she hasn't got
:20:22. > :20:39.the right timing. -- just dragging it down.
:20:40. > :20:51.That was a lovely shot. Lovely reverse angle cut. Great deception.
:20:52. > :21:00.She just left her opponent flat-footed to watch the shuttle.
:21:01. > :21:06.Tee Jing Yi was going the wrong way. An excellent deception. Again,
:21:07. > :21:08.another long serve. This first game slipping away from the Number Ten
:21:09. > :21:30.seed, Yamaguchi. Again, lovely crosscourt drop. Great
:21:31. > :21:42.deception, just bringing the shuttle down sweetly. Slicing the racket
:21:43. > :21:46.strings right across. But desperate lunge by Tee Jing Yi, to no avail.
:21:47. > :22:10.It really was a wonderful shot by Yamaguchi.
:22:11. > :22:19.Easily put away. Good attack through the centre of the court. This match
:22:20. > :22:26.has now been going for 14 minutes. You just sense that Yamaguchi needs
:22:27. > :22:31.to pick up the pace a little bit, to try to turn the momentum highway. If
:22:32. > :22:37.she's going to do it, she has to do it now.
:22:38. > :22:42.That was a great pick-up from the back of the court. She's playing the
:22:43. > :22:59.shuttle from behind her and she still controls it.
:23:00. > :23:10.Crosscourt smash again working for Tee Jing Yi. Lovely play. She's done
:23:11. > :23:23.that effectively now on a number of occasions.
:23:24. > :23:32.That is a great shot! She moved in, one, two steps, holds the racket up,
:23:33. > :23:34.waits for her opponent, then pushes it over her. Nicely played.
:23:35. > :23:55.Wonderful deception. Oh! Wonderful shot. Driving the
:23:56. > :24:06.shuttle into the backhand corner. Turning Tee Jing Yi around. Almost
:24:07. > :24:12.the two extremes on the court. Bringing her right into the net,
:24:13. > :24:16.wonderful drop shot, then the drive, deep. Bringing her opponent right
:24:17. > :24:21.into the net, stretching her, then bringing her back to the backcourt.
:24:22. > :24:30.She's at full stretch, taking her out of position, out of her comfort
:24:31. > :24:34.zone. It is nicely played. Question is, has she left it too late in this
:24:35. > :24:43.first game to find such excellent form?
:24:44. > :24:51.Great to smash down the line. A good mix up there from Tee Jing Yi. She's
:24:52. > :24:55.been successful with the crosscourt smash. This time going with the
:24:56. > :25:02.shortest part of the court, the beast amount of time for horror
:25:03. > :25:15.opponent to react. -- least amount of time for her opponent.
:25:16. > :25:26.She definitely hurt her calf muscle. Both of her lower legs are strapped
:25:27. > :25:31.up. There is a support, a bandage, a support Soc. This could be quite
:25:32. > :25:39.serious. I think she is requesting a bit of a time-out. She is asking for
:25:40. > :25:45.some medical assistance. That left calf muscle, you can see as she
:25:46. > :25:50.lands, a lot of effort in that crosscourt. She's been troubled with
:25:51. > :25:57.injury all year, and you can see the way she landed on that calf muscle.
:25:58. > :26:04.She's not moving well. Just stretching her calf muscle. She's
:26:05. > :26:12.getting full stretch, which is an indication it was more of a jar. She
:26:13. > :26:20.landed very heavily on the back of the left calf, and then you could
:26:21. > :26:29.see the pain when she was pushing off. Of course, this is a sport
:26:30. > :26:33.where any thoughts in your mind of an injury can actually affect your
:26:34. > :26:39.performance significantly. Fitness is of paramount importance. We've
:26:40. > :26:42.seen already players lunging around the court, sprinting around the
:26:43. > :26:52.court, full stretch, arching their backs. She's going to carry on.
:26:53. > :27:04.Let's see how it goes. The first few points will be critical.
:27:05. > :27:11.Yamaguchi attacking the backhand corner again. Pushing off the left
:27:12. > :27:43.leg. She isn't moving quite as well as
:27:44. > :27:48.she has been doing. Short break in between breaks, but she was five or
:27:49. > :27:56.six points ahead in this first game. It looks as though she is now
:27:57. > :28:01.contemplating whether to carry on. A little bit of perspiration on the
:28:02. > :28:11.floor. She's having a bit of a conversation with her coach.
:28:12. > :28:18.It is 17 apiece. Four points away from the first game. So if she can
:28:19. > :28:25.get through this game, she has a couple of minutes break, she can
:28:26. > :28:32.reassess. See how she's feeling. That one has gone way out. If she
:28:33. > :28:38.loses the first game, I think that, psychologically, could be... Would
:28:39. > :28:44.make it very hard for her. At the back of her mind, she knew she had
:28:45. > :28:47.the lead. It's a case of hanging in there, let's try to pinch this first
:28:48. > :28:54.game. She's hobbling around the court now. As you say, I think she
:28:55. > :28:58.will do her best this game and then review the situation during the
:28:59. > :29:09.break between the first and second game. I'm sure the physio will be
:29:10. > :29:15.either. -- will be there to make a suggestion. She's just not moving,
:29:16. > :29:19.is she? Not the same confidence she had before. Really moving quite
:29:20. > :29:28.smoothly throughout the first part of this match. You can see the
:29:29. > :29:33.hesitation. Yamaguchi really attacking the backhand corner now.
:29:34. > :29:54.I'd be amazed if she carries on. Unless they have a magician working
:29:55. > :29:56.for the nation team. -- Malaysia team. The first game goes to
:29:57. > :30:19.Yamaguchi of Japan, 21-18. Yamaguchi to serve at the start of
:30:20. > :30:26.the second game. Nice play by Tee Jing Yi. She definitely will have to
:30:27. > :30:38.look to control the rally as much as possible.
:30:39. > :31:29.Going long, good judgment by Yamaguchi.
:31:30. > :32:05.Again, same shot. I don't feel she can lunge, Tee Jing Yi. Very nervous
:32:06. > :32:11.about stretching. She certainly doesn't have the same freedom that
:32:12. > :32:12.she did in the first game. Their movement is very restricted. Walking
:32:13. > :32:37.back onto court with a slight limp. Yamaguchi using the corners of the
:32:38. > :32:42.court and a nice direct smash. She will be looking to direct the play
:32:43. > :32:47.as much as possible here. Just keeps moving her opponent around, doesn't
:32:48. > :32:48.need to change her game plan too much, just needs to be consistent
:32:49. > :33:52.with her strokes. Of course, now Yamaguchi, whatever
:33:53. > :33:59.the circumstances, using the whole quart, playing it deep on the court,
:34:00. > :34:01.using the drop shots. Tee Jing Yi, having to cover the whole quart, is
:34:02. > :34:22.really struggling. -- whole court. Yamaguchi getting right behind the
:34:23. > :34:29.shuttle, bringing it down very steeply. Hard enough shuttle to get
:34:30. > :34:32.when you have full freedom in your movement, but when you are hampered
:34:33. > :35:24.by an injury, almost makes it impossible.
:35:25. > :35:31.That's one just going long, so Yamaguchi now with a very
:35:32. > :35:42.comfortable lead going into the mid-game interval. 11-3 up. Good
:35:43. > :35:46.judgment on the back line. You almost feel like you want to go out
:35:47. > :35:51.there and help Tee Jing Yi. Yes, very sad for her. She has worked
:35:52. > :35:57.very hard to get here. The biggest match of her career, the Olympic
:35:58. > :36:02.Games. She has been plagued again by injury, a very challenging situation
:36:03. > :36:07.for her but she is out there, still competing, still giving it a go. She
:36:08. > :36:12.wants to fight rights to the end, which is great qualities to have in
:36:13. > :36:19.a badminton player. As we mentioned earlier, Tee Jing Yi's participation
:36:20. > :36:28.here was in doubt due to the injury she had in May this year. Reminds me
:36:29. > :36:32.of the incident on the track and field when the British athletes
:36:33. > :36:36.Derek Redmond Roque down with 100 yards to go and his father came out
:36:37. > :36:42.of the crowd and carried him over the line. Everyone thought, that is
:36:43. > :36:47.what the Olympics is all about. That is exactly what Tee Jing Yi is doing
:36:48. > :36:54.here. She will not give in, she will battle all the way, looks like. It
:36:55. > :37:05.will be nice to get double figures. She has won there. -- she has one
:37:06. > :37:24.there. Great to cover the crosscourt, just
:37:25. > :37:31.at the rebound getting the shot at the back of the court. She is not
:37:32. > :37:34.freely moving around the court at all, really hampered by her calf
:37:35. > :37:42.injury. ORE ODUBA: As Peter was saying, the
:37:43. > :37:48.Malaysia in in a whole host of pain. Yamaguchi eventually went on to win
:37:49. > :37:55.this game 20 1-5, taking it 2-0. She moves into the quarterfinals at the
:37:56. > :37:58.expense of her opponent. What a disappointing end to that game.
:37:59. > :38:04.Making things better for you here on BBC Four, we will head over to the
:38:05. > :38:10.golf. Things are looking really rosy for Great Britain's Justin Rose. He
:38:11. > :38:14.leads by one shot down there on the golf reserve. We will go to the live
:38:15. > :38:18.shots because the leaders are not going on for an hour or so. It is
:38:19. > :38:22.all set up. A glorious day on the golf course. We will take you
:38:23. > :38:25.through the early stages of this final round with Alan Wilkins and
:38:26. > :38:36.Dwayne De locker. Thomas Pieters of Belgium on the
:38:37. > :38:52.first. His caddy likes it. You've got some beautiful golf
:38:53. > :38:58.courses down there on those islands of yours in New Zealand. What is the
:38:59. > :39:05.best? I have heard of a couple. Coronary cliffs. There is a whole
:39:06. > :39:08.bunch of these resort courses that have come on in recent years.
:39:09. > :39:15.Designed by some of the best names in golf architecture. Thankfully,
:39:16. > :39:21.they are all just using the natural topography, keeping with that
:39:22. > :39:36.theory. Henrik Stenson, open champion. 63 final round at Royal
:39:37. > :39:45.Troon. Didn't have his 100% a swing yesterday. Nice doing justice to the
:39:46. > :39:47.talent he has had for years that hasn't quite borne fruit but should
:39:48. > :40:11.have. This area is known as the new Rio.
:40:12. > :40:21.It is about 15 kilometres from Copacabana Beach. Rather reminds me
:40:22. > :40:24.of the Gold Coast in Australia. Many newcomers and immigrants to this
:40:25. > :40:34.part of the world had for those high rise apartment blocks. Oh, don't go
:40:35. > :40:38.in there! If that is in that... That Bush there, he might not have a shot
:40:39. > :41:20.at all. The won exactly. He just made a nice birdie putt on
:41:21. > :41:25.the seventh and a delightful shot here. Probably a 6-iron ore
:41:26. > :41:34.something from there. Would that be a gimme on your Sunday afternoon?
:41:35. > :41:40.Absolutely. But not for you! Danny Willett of Great Britain starts
:41:41. > :41:55.3-under today. He will be going out next. We have the Masters champion
:41:56. > :41:56.here, the open champion. To have two current major Championship winners
:41:57. > :42:19.in your field is a real coup. Beautiful, beautiful. The greens are
:42:20. > :42:24.receptive, aren't they? We are seeing a lot of action on the ball.
:42:25. > :42:32.We came down here last week to have a look at it. We wanted to roll the
:42:33. > :42:37.ball across the green to get an idea of the speed, the feel of the green,
:42:38. > :42:42.and it was forbidden! They wouldn't even let us roll a ball across the
:42:43. > :42:46.putting greens as they were so intent on presenting this course in
:42:47. > :42:52.near perfect condition, which they have. I am sure it will be for the
:42:53. > :42:57.women next week, as well. Despite four, five days of traffic on this
:42:58. > :43:23.course. They will be playing off shorter tees.
:43:24. > :43:33.I heard the name Wiesberger in my headphones. Masters champion, Great
:43:34. > :43:47.Britain's Danny Willett, 3-under par. From Austria, Bernd Wiesberger.
:43:48. > :44:01.He starts 3-under. I wonder how that game at Augusta
:44:02. > :44:09.has changed the life of Danny Willett. Massively. He has the green
:44:10. > :44:14.jacket. He worried that Wimbledon in the middle Saturday. It is the
:44:15. > :44:18.parade of athletes and the All-England Club asked him to wear
:44:19. > :44:22.it and he didn't want to. He picked up a bit of flag from his fellow
:44:23. > :44:28.professionals. We were not wearing your green jacket to Wimbledon? He
:44:29. > :44:35.said, I was asked. 67, bogey free final round at Augusta. Britain's
:44:36. > :44:37.Danny Willett, round of 71, 70 and 60 nine. One of four brothers in the
:44:38. > :45:03.family. Starting 3-under. Doesn't like it. I think he might
:45:04. > :45:07.have... I think it might just stay on the short grass anyway. What the
:45:08. > :45:22.end of the world for where he years. He has nine shots off the pace. Even
:45:23. > :45:28.if he goes out and hit 62, it won't be enough to win it. Now, Bernd
:45:29. > :45:39.Wiesberger, 3-under par for the Austrian. Quick swing. Quick on the
:45:40. > :45:59.way down. What speed. I think that might be gone. Very deep bunkers,
:46:00. > :46:07.aren't they? They are. Now, the youngest player. So, rounds of 68,
:46:08. > :46:25.72 and 70. 3-under par. So, group 15 as away, and that has
:46:26. > :46:32.found the sand as well. Five groups to go and our final group will go
:46:33. > :46:38.off at just less than an hour's time, about 56 minutes time. It's
:46:39. > :46:46.become a popular location, that bunker, in the last half an hour. We
:46:47. > :46:55.didn't see many of any in the first hour or so, but... Now, Fabian
:46:56. > :47:05.Gomez. That will be a tap in birdie for the Argentine.
:47:06. > :47:17.Yet another birdie... Adilson Jose Da Silva. Birdie on eight for
:47:18. > :47:18.Brazilian Adilson Jose Da Silva. Fourth birdie today for the
:47:19. > :47:38.Brazilian. This is a birdie opportunity as well
:47:39. > :47:39.for Thomas Pieters. 67, 66, just when you expect something similar,
:47:40. > :47:51.he fired 77 yesterday. Starts with a birdie today. Never
:47:52. > :47:59.associate Belgian with one of the great golfing nurseries but over the
:48:00. > :48:04.last few years some potential world-class golfers are emerging
:48:05. > :48:11.from there. Like they did with women tennis players, a few years ago.
:48:12. > :48:16.Sensation in the women's tennis event, Monica Puig beating Angelique
:48:17. > :48:38.Kerber in the final. So, Colsaerts tidies up. Now, your
:48:39. > :48:47.danger man, Li. I saw him at an early age. This is an eagle putt. It
:48:48. > :48:52.was Eagle yesterday! He will have to settle for birdie, assuming he will
:48:53. > :49:02.tap it in. Saw him at such an early age winning a tournament in China.
:49:03. > :49:09.Not an ounce of fat on him. He's just going the right direction,
:49:10. > :49:14.playing the web .com Torah as well. This is Stenson on the putting
:49:15. > :49:18.green. You don't have to be six foot six to succeed and this game. I had
:49:19. > :49:24.a brief conversation with Gary Player, and I was struck again... He
:49:25. > :49:28.is short compared to some golfers but you look at his record, nine
:49:29. > :49:34.mangers. And I'm looking down at him! -- nine Majors. I bet he does
:49:35. > :49:56.more sit-ups and press ups than you. Birdie putt on 14 for Shingo
:49:57. > :50:03.Katayama. That part of his has gone well today. -- putter of his has
:50:04. > :50:10.gone well today. Six birdies on the card but unfortunately two bogeys as
:50:11. > :50:25.well. It has been the story of just about everyone's round here.
:50:26. > :50:38.This is Danny will it. Didn't like his tee shot. Trying to get home in
:50:39. > :50:52.two. That golf cart, he had it in his peripheral vision. 297 yards to
:50:53. > :51:08.the pin for Danny Willett. Definitely be there in three.
:51:09. > :51:20.It's OK, it's fine. ORE: Danny Welbeck progresses in the
:51:21. > :51:25.final round, if you want to see how this one continues, we have the Red
:51:26. > :51:29.Button, and we will be bringing you Justin Rose here on BBC Four very
:51:30. > :51:33.shortly. If you want to go to the golf live, that's the place to go.
:51:34. > :51:39.If you want Justin Rose, hold fire. We will be with the 2013 US champion
:51:40. > :51:45.shortly. I told you was going to be a big date in the equestrian and
:51:46. > :51:48.it's time to see of Great Britain's Olympian champions from 2012 can
:51:49. > :51:53.retain their title. We have had the eventing, we have had the dressage
:51:54. > :51:59.including two silver medals for Charlotte Dujardin. Her horse is
:52:00. > :52:04.probably one of the most horses on the planet, especially after the two
:52:05. > :52:14.gold Pramac won in 2012. Essentially, he is a celebrity. How
:52:15. > :52:27.do you get the horses from the UK to Rio? We have five horses travelling,
:52:28. > :52:31.they are fit, well, and we're looking forward to getting out
:52:32. > :52:36.there, seeing how they get on. You think about putting a horse on an
:52:37. > :52:39.aeroplane, it is an alien concept. But they've been very relaxed and I
:52:40. > :52:45.have looked at them to make sure they are fit and ready to go.
:52:46. > :52:54.This is an interesting fight because of where it is going and who it is
:52:55. > :53:00.for but it is not so strange for us, certainly on a weekly basis. At the
:53:01. > :53:05.moment, he is chilled. I think he thinks he's going on a ferry. So
:53:06. > :53:11.he's only been to another country on a ferry. He doesn't have any idea
:53:12. > :53:17.what's happening. He has a special seat to help him with muscle
:53:18. > :53:21.recovery. The flight is over 11 hours, plus all the standing around
:53:22. > :53:25.before and after so we could be travelling for 24 hours. It is
:53:26. > :53:29.exhausting for them mentally and physically. I'm struggling with the
:53:30. > :53:35.concept of handing him over to someone. I've been there every step
:53:36. > :53:39.of the way with him. It is going to be difficult to say please look
:53:40. > :53:44.after my horse to someone. He is a young horse, this is the first time
:53:45. > :53:51.he's flown. He is quite high maintenance. He is a diva. We don't
:53:52. > :53:55.have the resources and support that the big teams like the Brits and
:53:56. > :53:58.Australians and Germans have. For me it is important we take
:53:59. > :54:04.responsibility and put the horses on ourselves. The horses have spent the
:54:05. > :54:08.past seven or eight years travelling all over Europe, all over the world.
:54:09. > :54:17.They are seasoned travellers now, very relaxed. Once on the plane with
:54:18. > :54:21.them, they are very settled. I will go around, give them water
:54:22. > :54:26.regulator, check their eating, drinking, looking healthy. They've
:54:27. > :54:30.had their temperature taken so we're basically checking their health. It
:54:31. > :54:35.is important they don't spend so many hours with their heads up. So
:54:36. > :54:40.every couple of hours or so we go in and feed them off the ground so they
:54:41. > :54:41.can actually have that natural clearance mechanism. And it helps
:54:42. > :54:55.them to travel with their sickness. He's well, eating his hay. I'm
:54:56. > :55:23.happy. The horses travelled very well. It
:55:24. > :55:30.was about a 12 hour flight. It takes a bit of time to unload the horses,
:55:31. > :55:36.and then we get them to a holding chorale, and then transfer them onto
:55:37. > :55:43.trucks. And then, convoy to the venue with a police escort. That was
:55:44. > :55:47.a nice trip. The time difference is only four hours, so it isn't a lot.
:55:48. > :55:54.We use those first few days for them to catch up on any rest they might
:55:55. > :55:58.have missed while travelling. Well, what can she be's show-jumpers do on
:55:59. > :56:03.horseback here in Rio? They are the team to beat after they took the top
:56:04. > :56:07.honours in 2012 and it came down to the wire in London. Let's have a
:56:08. > :56:13.look and remind ourselves exactly what happened down there on Horse
:56:14. > :56:15.Guards Parade because Nick Skelton and company beat everyone else for
:56:16. > :56:39.the gold. This is the moment he's been waiting
:56:40. > :56:43.for. Trying to ride for a gold for Britain. A horse that is so
:56:44. > :56:52.talented. No more big occasion we want to see that talent. This was
:56:53. > :56:56.the combination but they've taken the first pass away. And he is still
:56:57. > :57:03.clear, getting towards the end of the jump off now. And the last
:57:04. > :57:14.fence... And he's got software tremendous start! 47.27. Does it put
:57:15. > :57:19.Great Britain in the box seat? The crowd hope so. The flags are out.
:57:20. > :57:24.That was Nick Skelton at his very best.
:57:25. > :57:43.It's got to be faster than 50 books Green 52.40. Come on. Now down to
:57:44. > :57:52.Tower Bridge for gold. This could be the first gold... Yes! Britain have
:57:53. > :58:01.got gold! Up go the arms, and what a tremendous ride! The man for the
:58:02. > :58:06.occasion has won gold. The team leader, the team captain, Nick
:58:07. > :58:12.Skelton - you have an Olympic medal. Only took me 54 years! It to Great
:58:13. > :58:17.Britain 60. Speechless, unbelievable. Given your career,
:58:18. > :58:22.your injuries, this is extraordinary. I know, and I have a
:58:23. > :58:28.wonderful horse, wonderful owners, it is a dream country. And you could
:58:29. > :58:32.follow it up with individual gold. One is good. Great for sport, great
:58:33. > :58:47.for the country and it's taken all these years. Gold it is! Up they
:58:48. > :58:50.step. His Royal Highness the Duke of York presenting Nick Skelton with
:58:51. > :58:58.his gold medal. That's been his dream. What a performance. Peter
:58:59. > :59:05.Giles kisses the gold medal, this is the moment they've been training of.
:59:06. > :59:09.This will hopefully put show jumping back to the glory days. We're back
:59:10. > :59:15.on top of the world and this is where we want to stay.
:59:16. > :59:22.Since that fantastic day in London, they've lost two, but they have
:59:23. > :59:28.gained another pair and they have experienced this group. That is
:59:29. > :59:33.understated. The combined age and that fantastic day at Greenwich in
:59:34. > :59:43.London was 165. The combined age of the GB team in Rio is 280 -- 207.
:59:44. > :59:47.John Whitaker is the oldest athlete, 61 years old. But it is just a
:59:48. > :59:51.fantastic combination and a lot of criticism about not enough young
:59:52. > :59:57.people coming through but these are the guys who are in form. Don't
:59:58. > :00:01.forget Ben Maher as well, already at his third Olympics. The good news
:00:02. > :00:07.about Nick Skelton as he is back with his horse which has been out
:00:08. > :00:11.with a lot of time since 2012, Big Star. You can hear the cheering. But
:00:12. > :00:18.as Eduardo Mendez coming into the arena. They love show-jumping,
:00:19. > :00:20.they've won bronze medals, they've had individual gold medals. The
:00:21. > :00:28.Brazilians will love this. Let's join our commentary team.
:00:29. > :00:37.This will be a fascinating start. To give an indication of how the horses
:00:38. > :00:41.and riders have coped with these wonderful sphere facilities here,
:00:42. > :00:45.for all three Olympic equestrian disciplines, it is marvellous.
:00:46. > :00:49.Interestingly enough, show-jumping is the biggest and best discipline
:00:50. > :00:56.here in Brazil. I am delighted to say at this stage in the morning,
:00:57. > :01:03.just past 10am, 2pm with you at home in the UK. The crowd is the biggest
:01:04. > :01:09.that we have seen at this stage of the morning. Brazil to get underway.
:01:10. > :01:18.Eduardo De La Riva croak, his first Olympics, based in California --
:01:19. > :01:23.Menezes. He went very well in the Grand Prix in Sweden's nations cup
:01:24. > :01:36.competition. He won the competition there in big style. Very confident
:01:37. > :01:40.team. That certainly was a big shot that Roderigo was left out, but a
:01:41. > :01:53.very strong Brazilian team here. A nice level eight stride.
:01:54. > :02:01.Most of the riders, although this will be judged on time, it is about
:02:02. > :02:07.jumping clear rounds. Keeping it reasonably tight with a good fluent
:02:08. > :02:17.rhythm. Some of these fences up to 1.6 metres. This is a big first day.
:02:18. > :02:21.A big jump over the water. Some riders thought they might get an
:02:22. > :02:30.extra stride to the wall, but Eduardo cruising. A lot of room
:02:31. > :02:32.around this corner. You have to get balance over a very tall set of
:02:33. > :02:49.planks. The comfortable, fairly short five
:02:50. > :03:04.strides to the last. Cruise quite easily inside that 82 seconds. It is
:03:05. > :03:12.four for Eduardo Menezes. That was a great start. Just that one mistake.
:03:13. > :03:17.Little touch behind. Very tricky planks. Brazil won the big Nations
:03:18. > :03:23.cup in Spruce Meadows last year. This young man was part of that.
:03:24. > :03:36.They really have got some good young riders.
:03:37. > :03:53.Now the Argentine. They have had some great horses and riders over
:03:54. > :04:00.the years. Another one based in Florida,. He was in the Silver Medal
:04:01. > :04:14.winning team in the Pan American Games that qualified for their
:04:15. > :04:21.appearance here in Deodoro. This is a lovely horse. Just 11 years old.
:04:22. > :04:28.It is very interesting to look at the tactics of these early riders,
:04:29. > :04:32.trying to work out, is this going to be a quick round today, or is it
:04:33. > :04:37.going to take a bit of jumping? Early indications are that the
:04:38. > :04:40.ground is superb. You can see the horses are really getting in the
:04:41. > :04:46.air, finding it easy to get plenty of spring. We will talk about the
:04:47. > :04:50.ground a bit later. There is a lot of research going in at the moment,
:04:51. > :04:58.which is very interesting. Oh, he stumbled. Well, that was very
:04:59. > :05:03.unfortunate. Was that related to the ground, or did he take up all and
:05:04. > :05:10.the horse slipped behind? No chance of jumping the fence. If you fall
:05:11. > :05:19.off, you are eliminated, but he didn't. The fence is being rebuilt.
:05:20. > :05:22.See the back leg of their slipped and moved on the ground. Ironically,
:05:23. > :05:28.we were just talking about the ground. I think that was a bit of a
:05:29. > :05:35.lack of balance rather than the ground itself. You can see, once the
:05:36. > :05:39.stride and rhythm has gone, immediately really big problems. If
:05:40. > :05:43.you looked at the angle of that kind leg as it touched the ground, it was
:05:44. > :05:48.on a real angle. That is why the slip came. All to do with the
:05:49. > :05:55.balance. Horse and rider having a disagreement. Will he retire, or
:05:56. > :06:09.will he carry on? He can't retire at this stage. No, he is coming around
:06:10. > :06:12.again. Good recovery. A slip like that is so unfortunate because
:06:13. > :06:18.normally, as we say, with this type of ground, it creates perfect
:06:19. > :06:34.conditions for jumping. It has really spoiled his day. 92.12, the
:06:35. > :06:38.time. It will be important in being the tie-breakers for the draw for
:06:39. > :06:45.the teams, which is an important part of this competition. I would
:06:46. > :06:50.rather agree with your comment. There was that slip again. Once that
:06:51. > :06:55.back end had gone, it is very unusual for these services to see a
:06:56. > :07:03.horse slipped quite so dramatically. Let's keep an eye on that as a few
:07:04. > :07:10.more riders come out. 58-year-old Nick Skelton. So unlucky not to win
:07:11. > :07:17.an individual medal in London. As they had to go back to zero for the
:07:18. > :07:23.final days of individual, Nick, big Star, missed out. This is his
:07:24. > :07:37.seventh Olympics. He has only this out once since 1988.
:07:38. > :07:50.Nicely down there on the level. Nick has saved Big Star, waited
:07:51. > :08:03.patiently. It has been all about the games here. Big Star out of action
:08:04. > :08:07.for nearly two years. Nick is the master of nursing the horse back to
:08:08. > :08:27.full fitness. Jumping beautifully there. Into
:08:28. > :08:33.Just opening up the stride a little. Making a bit of time getting up to
:08:34. > :08:51.these planks. Oh, and he got a little bit tight
:08:52. > :08:58.there. What a shame. Perfect round to that very last fence, but it is
:08:59. > :09:01.four and not quite the start we looked as though we would have for
:09:02. > :09:06.Britain, but the horse is really looking good and that is the
:09:07. > :09:16.exciting bit for Great Britain. Took the forward option down to the wall.
:09:17. > :09:20.Just got too close to the last fence. Big Star couldn't make the
:09:21. > :09:30.back rail. What a shame. He jumped a beautiful round up to that point.
:09:31. > :09:35.Germany did not feature in the London Olympics. In fact, they have
:09:36. > :09:40.not featured in a major Championship or won a major Championship now for
:09:41. > :09:44.one or two years, but they had a build-up that certainly makes them
:09:45. > :09:52.look one of the very strong favourites for this year's Olympic
:09:53. > :09:59.title. Christian Ahlmann, the world number two. This combination has
:10:00. > :10:14.been a big winner. This is the most experienced
:10:15. > :10:22.tourists in the competition. 16 years old. Christian Ahlmann with
:10:23. > :10:27.his very distinctive upright style. Very tall man, sits in the saddle
:10:28. > :10:31.with a great deal of strength holding the horse between the hand
:10:32. > :10:43.and leg. These two could go very close this week for the medal.
:10:44. > :10:47.Really slowed down to jump that wall very carefully, took an extra
:10:48. > :10:58.stride. Just a little cautious, Christian
:10:59. > :11:19.He wants a clear round. And he gets it. The fourth Olympics
:11:20. > :11:23.for them. They won a bronze team in 2004, but it hasn't all been good
:11:24. > :11:26.news, but he has got the Germans off to a very good start with the first
:11:27. > :11:35.clear round we have seen this morning. Christian Ahlmann on the
:11:36. > :11:41.16-year-old Taloubet. A fabulous clear round. He didn't want to go
:11:42. > :11:56.for the time, he wanted a clear round. The first rider to do so.
:11:57. > :12:09.Australia next. 31-year-old Matt Williams, who rode in Britain for a
:12:10. > :12:16.season or two. He moved to Britain in 2014. Now he is based in the
:12:17. > :12:35.Netherlands. The Australian team are pretty
:12:36. > :12:43.strong here and I think they certainly would be coming here
:12:44. > :12:48.looking to get some medals. Lovely stylish effective rider, Matt
:12:49. > :13:23.. Just having to attack the water. This is just a bit quicker and still
:13:24. > :13:27.clear at the moment. Just got close into that last double. Didn't
:13:28. > :13:39.produce the jump. And the last, as well. Ran out of steam. Doesn't look
:13:40. > :13:50.to be too much concern. Eight total for Matt Williams. Great effort for
:13:51. > :13:56.Matt Williams. You could see towards the end, the jump tightening up. A
:13:57. > :14:05.big course, a long way around. Two fences in the last. A lot of success
:14:06. > :14:16.in Florida, has recently moved there. Next, Portugal, one of the
:14:17. > :14:21.individual riders. She was born and bred in Brazil and has lived in
:14:22. > :14:28.Europe for the best part of 20 years. There will be lots of fans of
:14:29. > :14:36.Luciana. Some tremendous performances in the global Champions
:14:37. > :14:38.Tour on this fit for fun. It is a real little jumper. Now 12 years
:14:39. > :15:00.old. Wonderful to watch this combination.
:15:01. > :15:07.You can see the way she rides the horses, Luciana, always with a lot
:15:08. > :15:20.of feel. Allows them to jump and a wonderful stylist.
:15:21. > :15:28.There is a lot of room in this arena for this type of combination, to get
:15:29. > :15:34.into a good rhythm. Very close to the water. Didn't to make the
:15:35. > :15:43.effort. So, clear rounds are pretty scarce at the moment. Yes. The
:15:44. > :15:47.course designer from Brazil has put the emphasis on jumping. It's very
:15:48. > :15:53.definitely not a speed tight course. This is about big jumping, up to one
:15:54. > :16:01.metre 60. Quite a long way round. The horses there are tiring just at
:16:02. > :16:11.the end of the course. They make it. So, a total of eight. That is for
:16:12. > :16:17.Luciana Diniz, and her horse, Fit For Fun. I would have hoped that to
:16:18. > :16:23.go closer to a clear round. What goes to show this is a big first
:16:24. > :16:27.day. All the riders felt it was going to be a very strong, tough
:16:28. > :16:32.competition, and it is proving to be that at the moment. We're not
:16:33. > :16:47.getting clear rounds but it is a tough course. I asked them if it was
:16:48. > :16:53.a big course. But they said no. I think that is a bit of psychology.
:16:54. > :17:01.Now, the Olympic champion. He won the individual gold medal in Sydney
:17:02. > :17:06.and then, of course, and this British produced force, he won the
:17:07. > :17:12.worlds individually, in Normandy. And then last year, a classic
:17:13. > :17:18.performance with him to win the Europeans. On song, this combination
:17:19. > :17:30.will be right in there, that is for sure. Well, Jeroen Dubbeldam is the
:17:31. > :17:35.ultimate rider. He is icy cool, his technique is impeccable. And he has
:17:36. > :17:41.come up with the goods in championships time and time again.
:17:42. > :17:46.When we witnessed him at the world Championships riding everyone else's
:17:47. > :17:52.horse, he was head and shoulders above but he has just dropped short
:17:53. > :17:57.in the water! Yes, that water is four metres, it is a big water. It
:17:58. > :17:59.is a flat water with a little wall in front of it but it isn't
:18:00. > :18:10.encouraging the horses to get into the air. You might remember we saw
:18:11. > :18:14.this combination in May when there were some big stars, and they didn't
:18:15. > :18:19.look on forms there. He is a master of producing at the right time. Has
:18:20. > :18:26.he? Has he produced this horse at his best? He has four faults in
:18:27. > :18:41.81.03. And those times will be important. So, Nick Skelton. Nick,
:18:42. > :18:45.it looked good view but right for the very end, how was it riding? It
:18:46. > :18:55.is nice, not too difficult for the first day. Big Star was jumping
:18:56. > :18:59.incredibly, it was my fault. I knew it wasn't four, it was too long but
:19:00. > :19:03.I should have kept going in hindsight. This horse became a real
:19:04. > :19:06.favourite when we were in London but you've had to put on a huge amount
:19:07. > :19:10.of work and an awful amount of patience to get him here. Tell us
:19:11. > :19:17.about what the past few years have been. It has been a struggle with
:19:18. > :19:22.him after London, he won in our home in 2013 but then he has been on and
:19:23. > :19:26.off and it has taken two years to get him back. You can see now he is
:19:27. > :19:33.in impeccable form, jumping incredibly it is my fault. Today is
:19:34. > :19:36.insignificant. If you're going to have a fence down, this is the data
:19:37. > :19:47.do it. This comes towards individual but if he back and jumps two clear,
:19:48. > :19:54.I'll be in. So, we're not... We are OK. OK, thanks so much and great to
:19:55. > :20:04.see. You can keep across all the riders on the BBC sport app and the
:20:05. > :20:08.Red Button. Were looking forward to seeing the Whitakr brothers later. I
:20:09. > :20:12.think they made their debut back in 1984, so the years have gone by but
:20:13. > :20:16.they are just as talented. Were going to go from the show-jumping
:20:17. > :20:22.and move over to the marathon. We saw incredible display of running by
:20:23. > :20:28.Mo Farah. A slightly longer distance today. We are going to see the women
:20:29. > :20:31.going down there over the course. If you join us on BBC One, taking us
:20:32. > :20:45.through this one, our guys. A little bit of shade in this little
:20:46. > :20:50.section. One or two already starting to move through from further back in
:20:51. > :20:54.the field. As we said, this is going to be a feature even in the early
:20:55. > :21:00.stages. Not even halfway here and some are already trying to pay for
:21:01. > :21:09.starting with the -- staying with the early pace. The two kills
:21:10. > :21:23.running together. They have managed to pull that
:21:24. > :21:31.little group there up to the leaders. So, too Japanese, to Korean
:21:32. > :21:40.athletes, three Americans, two from Bahrain, three Kenyans, and three
:21:41. > :21:45.Ethiopians. Great to see so many people there. They're reaching the
:21:46. > :21:55.top end of the loop now so, again, it is a sharp turn. We will get a
:21:56. > :21:59.chance to see whether they crossover. I think they will go
:22:00. > :22:03.straight down so I think they will be OK. Just make sure people count
:22:04. > :22:30.the laps but they only need to count three laps. I'm told there are 25
:22:31. > :22:43.turns. So, we went 1721, 1659, and then we've slowed after the middle
:22:44. > :22:47.five K, 17.20 nine. -- 17 .29. It'll be interesting to see whether this
:22:48. > :22:57.is just a settling of the pace or whether this is the pace. Or whether
:22:58. > :23:06.anybody is able to pick it up. The two very good Portuguese athletes
:23:07. > :23:12.running together. There is the other Kim. About a minute and a half
:23:13. > :23:22.behind the leaders behind Ali Dixon and Sonia Samuels, who were running
:23:23. > :23:27.together. That is it big break-up of that. I'm not sure whether it was
:23:28. > :23:34.the water station or whether we get this surging and the pack comes back
:23:35. > :23:38.together again. It is the drink station. Every time we hit it, they
:23:39. > :23:43.spread out a bit to make sure they find their drinks bottles, get them,
:23:44. > :23:53.and take their time to get the fluid on board. You can see Sinead
:23:54. > :23:59.Flanagan, she still has her bottle, still concentrating on making sure
:24:00. > :24:03.drinking is the priority. They are probably guessing the pace is going
:24:04. > :24:08.to back off again, and they will be able to work their way back. The two
:24:09. > :24:13.Korean athletes running together. They both run regularly in the
:24:14. > :24:19.Pyongyang marathon. They've actually been at the world level, eighth in
:24:20. > :24:23.the world Championships in ninth. So they're running together. They're
:24:24. > :24:27.running strongly, moving through gradually. They may become a threat
:24:28. > :24:32.because this group will eventually start to break down. We are still in
:24:33. > :24:39.the first half of the marathon. We have still got no athletes making a
:24:40. > :24:46.move to try to win it but they've settled down to a regular pace. The
:24:47. > :24:52.Africans at the front. And then the Americans at the back of the group.
:24:53. > :24:55.And you can see the effect the sun and heat is having on these
:24:56. > :25:03.athletes. They getting desperate for their drinks. She looks like she is
:25:04. > :25:06.distressed. Sonia Samuels and Sonia Dixon, there we see them in the slow
:25:07. > :25:16.motion, we haven't actually seen them in the live cow fridge. --
:25:17. > :25:29.coverage. They are running very close together, just a second apart
:25:30. > :25:35.through 15 K. So, that was a slower five K section for both of them. And
:25:36. > :25:41.they are now in 67th and 68th position. They have picked up a
:25:42. > :25:45.couple of places but, again, trying to run within themselves, within
:25:46. > :25:52.their capabilities, given the conditions, etc. So, to north-east
:25:53. > :25:56.athletes, I'm sure they are getting plenty of support out there. There
:25:57. > :26:00.have been so many British supporters, which has been great to
:26:01. > :26:05.see, particularly in the stadium last night watching Mo Farah,
:26:06. > :26:12.Jessica Ennis-Hill, Greg Rutherford, it was billed as another Super
:26:13. > :26:16.Saturday, it was pretty special. If you're going for a night out, this
:26:17. > :26:31.is where you go. Because I know you like a night out now and then! The
:26:32. > :26:38.aqueduct. This is a great story for a Sunday morning. No, that isn't a
:26:39. > :26:43.story. I don't even know why they were showing a necessary because it
:26:44. > :26:48.isn't near the track. Christ the Redeemer, here's a question, it is
:26:49. > :26:55.spectacular, managed to get up there before the athletics started. Angel
:26:56. > :27:05.of the North. Which is bigger? Which came first? Christ the Redeemer? Are
:27:06. > :27:10.we doing the Costello brothers? I think that was a legitimate
:27:11. > :27:14.question. Christ the Redeemer, 84 years and Angel of the North not
:27:15. > :27:19.that long. And which one is bigger? I would suggest the Angel of the
:27:20. > :27:25.North was bigger. It is a trick question because Christ the Redeemer
:27:26. > :27:29.is quite a bit taller. But his arms ban isn't as great as that of the
:27:30. > :27:33.Angel of the North. If you look at Christ the Redeemer standing on top
:27:34. > :27:36.of the mountain and if you look at the Angel of the North standing on
:27:37. > :27:40.top of the Hell, this is the God 's honest truth, Antony Gormley said to
:27:41. > :27:44.me, why don't you get the council to drop those trees down because in a
:27:45. > :27:55.few years' time, you won't be able to see it. So that is my plug. He
:27:56. > :27:58.isn't wrong! Anyway, if you want the statistics, Christ the Redeemer, 30
:27:59. > :28:04.metres tall. It also has a lightning conductor at the top. It was struck
:28:05. > :28:08.by lightning a few years ago. I remember seeing the picture. It is
:28:09. > :28:17.one of the seven new wonders of the world. And what are the other six?
:28:18. > :28:18.I'll give you a few minutes. I've got them written down here. It is
:28:19. > :28:36.like cheating. I'm wondering if Christ can redeem
:28:37. > :28:43.us back to the marathon? Well, there we have... This they is wherever you
:28:44. > :28:49.go, particularly in flamingo Park, it is a beautiful setting. Nothing
:28:50. > :28:54.much changing although Paula wants us to of course concentrate on the
:28:55. > :28:59.running. Not too much is changing, the two Kims trying to get back to
:29:00. > :29:04.the leading group and every time we get the water station... Look at
:29:05. > :29:11.her, she just can't sit still! Maybe she gets a sugar surge after each
:29:12. > :29:17.bottle. She is obviously feeling Gerd, the American. Just be patient
:29:18. > :29:23.and, you know, she's running aggressively, which is great. Sinead
:29:24. > :29:29.Flanagan wearing the cap. Maybe she just wants a site are coming to the
:29:30. > :29:35.water station that is aware of the Kenyan and Ethiopian athletes. They
:29:36. > :29:43.safely grab a drink. There's the two Kims. Next time through their just
:29:44. > :29:48.watch the technique that Linden users. She was the neatest through
:29:49. > :29:58.there, the way she whipped the bottle up. She wasn't getting her
:29:59. > :30:02.arm in the way of any other athlete. She just runs her own rhythm, her
:30:03. > :30:05.own pace, regardless of what is going on around her, which is
:30:06. > :30:08.sometimes a good thing and sometimes a bad thing because you need to
:30:09. > :30:13.adapt to what is going on in the race. Having said that, she will
:30:14. > :30:18.keep ticking away at the pace she feels good about, and the pace she's
:30:19. > :30:21.set to come out to run today. And we will continue to see this before and
:30:22. > :30:30.after these stations. We just caught a glimpse of crystal
:30:31. > :30:49.doornail with the sponge and she is moving through quite well.
:30:50. > :30:53.-- Christelle Daunay. The big group at the front still being led by the
:30:54. > :31:07.American and team-mates with her. Marathon running in Japan is huge
:31:08. > :31:11.and many of the Kenyan athletes... I read a statistic somewhere about how
:31:12. > :31:12.many Kenyan medallists over the years were based in Japan at some
:31:13. > :31:29.stage in their career. Based in Japan, so many Kenyan
:31:30. > :31:33.athletes. Because of the great tradition and the great love for
:31:34. > :31:40.distance running and road racing in Japan, they will be glued to their
:31:41. > :31:42.TVs hoping that one the Japanese can have the race of their life and get
:31:43. > :32:16.amongst the medals here. Mazarin has joined the lead pack and
:32:17. > :32:17.moved through very quickly. Back in 23rd, 20 Fourth Place around ten
:32:18. > :32:28.kilometres. Another casualty, looks like her
:32:29. > :32:32.ankle or Achilles or her calf. She suddenly left in the air and it
:32:33. > :32:38.looks as though she has a lower leg injury. She won the London Marathon
:32:39. > :32:42.last year. There, she jumped in the air. Some kind of poll in her lower
:32:43. > :32:51.leg and suddenly realises it is over for her. One of the favourites,
:32:52. > :33:00.Tigist Tufa, what a sad story. Bless her, she may as well just stop. She
:33:01. > :33:04.could keep jogging until she finds team management, but her race is
:33:05. > :33:13.over. That is sad. One of the main contenders. Most people would think
:33:14. > :33:22.the Ethiopian chances were elsewhere. Use check what had
:33:23. > :33:25.happened to their team-mate. You talk about nights out. The only
:33:26. > :33:35.night out I have had was in that restaurant there. I haven't had any
:33:36. > :33:44.other nights out, Steve. Work, work, work. It is a spectacular route,
:33:45. > :33:49.really, if you were coming to watch. There is a marathon in Rio de
:33:50. > :33:55.Janeiro. It is usually in June, which again cannot be that easy. The
:33:56. > :34:01.marathon actually follows a completely different route to this.
:34:02. > :34:10.It's those around the main beaches, Copacabana, Ipanema, Baja. Very big
:34:11. > :34:21.marathon indeed. They have a whole host of races over the weekend,
:34:22. > :34:43.different distances. Linden once again.
:34:44. > :34:56.That group, if anything, just getting away from those three. The
:34:57. > :34:59.two Kims. They are with Tanaka Japan. Running together, but not
:35:00. > :35:09.making any inroads. It might be wise. See what happens with that
:35:10. > :35:14.group, who breaks off it. Keep them within the site, keep them at a
:35:15. > :35:23.distance where it is still early stages. Still in the race, very much
:35:24. > :35:28.still in the race. Very much so. As each person who has gone a bit too
:35:29. > :35:32.fast drops off the front of the lead pack, you can reel those in and it
:35:33. > :35:36.will give a bit of a confidence boost. As long as that gap remains
:35:37. > :35:40.steady and within a distance that can be covered reasonably easy
:35:41. > :35:44.league, they are working well, working well as a group and running
:35:45. > :35:55.freely. They are not impeded by the group around them. Looking back at
:35:56. > :36:00.the clip earlier, I don't know whether someone trapped on her calf.
:36:01. > :36:08.Something made her jump in the air, Tigist Tufa. I wouldn't be surprised
:36:09. > :36:15.if the two Kim athletes of Korea feature in the later stages. They
:36:16. > :36:24.are running confidently, they haven't got world experience from
:36:25. > :36:31.the Championships. It is interesting, Tanaka, the Japanese
:36:32. > :36:35.athlete. A big leading group. They are leading the smaller group,
:36:36. > :36:41.pretty close to that position and it will all change. Not even at the
:36:42. > :36:52.halfway point here in the ninth running women's Olympic marathon.
:36:53. > :36:55.Remember London? The weather was gorgeous in London, and then it
:36:56. > :37:03.rained for the women's marathon. Today, gorgeous running conditions
:37:04. > :37:09.where we saw the 10,000 metres. Today it is hot and tough. It is hot
:37:10. > :37:19.and it is going to be a very tough race here. They are still operating
:37:20. > :37:24.around 2.25, 2.26 pace. The pace was brought down earlier and you get the
:37:25. > :37:33.sense... If you are into your minute mile, it is around 5.5 minutes.
:37:34. > :37:38.Anyone who runs knows that is pretty quick. Look at the Americans. It is
:37:39. > :37:41.interesting. They are following the red line and this is the point where
:37:42. > :37:51.the red line deviates oddly. Some have chosen to go under the shower.
:37:52. > :38:00.It is a mist, isn't it? I call it a shower. It is hardly even reaching
:38:01. > :38:06.down to the level of the runners. I would think the water pressure isn't
:38:07. > :38:10.working. The grass is getting watered, but the athletes are not.
:38:11. > :38:18.It is a spectacular city, isn't it? It is beautiful. For marathon
:38:19. > :38:22.running. Look at the Americans hugging the curb, the line. The
:38:23. > :38:32.Ethiopians and Kenyans are running wide.
:38:33. > :38:43.ORE ODUBA: Beautiful day on the course. From that course down to the
:38:44. > :38:48.golf course. Justin Rose of Great Britain is preparing to get things
:38:49. > :38:53.under way here. He is the leader and is one round away from becoming the
:38:54. > :38:57.first Olympic golf champion in 112 years. If you want to see how Justin
:38:58. > :39:03.Rose get some, head over to the BBC sport app. The Red Button has it as
:39:04. > :39:08.well as the website. Justin Rose is closing in on golf goal. Let's head
:39:09. > :39:14.back to Brendan and Steve and the women's marathon.
:39:15. > :39:24.The marathon is on a spectacular route. It is a beautiful morning,
:39:25. > :39:28.but it will be a tough one. We continue on this big lap,
:39:29. > :39:35.approaching halfway. Not too far away now. Still pretty good pace,
:39:36. > :39:42.around 2.20 five, despite these conditions. Look at all the people
:39:43. > :39:47.lining the route. Fantastic. The two British athletes around the 60s. I
:39:48. > :39:50.think there could be quite a few people who will not get to the end
:39:51. > :39:58.of this marathon. If they do get to the end, they will know they have
:39:59. > :40:05.been through a real tough 2.5 hours. You can see the names going through
:40:06. > :40:16.the 20 kilometres. We will be at the halfway point very shortly indeed.
:40:17. > :40:21.69.07 for the lead group. You have that little grip, Tanaka and the two
:40:22. > :40:31.Kims from Korea. A little further back... Still trying to head up a
:40:32. > :40:38.European challenge with Christelle Daunay of France. And Felix of
:40:39. > :40:43.Portugal. They are a good 40 seconds or so behind the leaders. Various
:40:44. > :40:47.groups you can see on the other side of the road. Paula, when you concede
:40:48. > :40:52.the leaders so far ahead of you in the opposite direction, you are
:40:53. > :40:57.trying to run your own pace, they know they aren't in the lead group,
:40:58. > :41:02.but I wonder. That can't be nice. Unless it is working the other way,
:41:03. > :41:11.each turn, you are closing on them. That has probably helped. You can
:41:12. > :41:18.see them coming back the other way. It gives you a bit of a mental
:41:19. > :41:21.boost. It works either way. You are very focused on your race and the
:41:22. > :41:27.group you are running in, but looking ahead, you often don't
:41:28. > :41:32.notice things going on to the side or in the crowd or the army standing
:41:33. > :41:37.with a big gun next to you as you run past. You want to block them out
:41:38. > :41:43.and focus on making sure you pick up a drinks bottle OK. Some jostling as
:41:44. > :41:53.they looked through a -- for a clear run through. The Americans will be
:41:54. > :42:02.right at the end, the three of them just grabbing their bottles. Oh, she
:42:03. > :42:13.has dropped it. Shalane Flanagan dropped her bottle. Amy Cragg will
:42:14. > :42:17.drink hers. There is enough in that bottle, Amy will not drink all of
:42:18. > :42:21.it. She will take what she needs and Bain she will run alongside Shalane
:42:22. > :42:27.Flanagan and hand her that bottle. They worked together when Shalane
:42:28. > :42:32.was in the trials. Almost to the point where Amy took her by the hand
:42:33. > :42:38.to move in the right direction. I will be very surprised if Amy Cragg
:42:39. > :42:46.doesn't now hand the bottle to Shalane Flanagan. Two them at the
:42:47. > :42:50.back of the group. Lyndon, every water station, she was clearing.
:42:51. > :43:04.Just struggling to hang on a little bit. --
:43:05. > :43:13.Tanaka and the two Kims. Is it really difficult with a leading
:43:14. > :43:17.group of 11 athletes for each of them to get a drink? Not at all. I
:43:18. > :43:29.don't know what happened. It is very hot and humid so the girls ' hands
:43:30. > :43:35.are wet. A bottle was held out, so maybe she swerved to miss something
:43:36. > :43:39.on the road. There is a serious distance running going on, and there
:43:40. > :43:45.is half of it to go. Gold medals in the Olympics are at stake.
:43:46. > :43:49.Everything we look at in the sideshow is letting the athletes
:43:50. > :43:59.down. I am very frustrated. It is not great. It's not. Halfway, and
:44:00. > :44:09.72.56 for the leaders, just maintaining that. Three very good
:44:10. > :44:14.Europeans here, running well. Now moving into the top 20, these three.
:44:15. > :44:21.We will give you an update as soon as we can on Alyson Dixon and Sonia
:44:22. > :44:30.Samuels, who went through the 20 kilometre point in 50th place. They
:44:31. > :44:36.have picked up ten places. Alyson Dixon for the first time ahead of
:44:37. > :44:41.Sonia Samuels. All the way through so far, it has been the other way
:44:42. > :44:46.around. Alyson Dixon, her parents are out here watching. Sonia Samuels
:44:47. > :44:55.has been out here, training and working so hard towards coming to
:44:56. > :45:02.these Olympic Games and has had to go through tough selection criteria
:45:03. > :45:05.and run the London Marathon. Make sure they gained selection to get
:45:06. > :45:07.their chance to run for Great Britain in this Olympic marathon.
:45:08. > :45:14.They are moving through the field into the top 50 now.
:45:15. > :45:22.These two Americans are running very well, very strong. What about this?
:45:23. > :45:26.Is she too early, getting too excited? I don't think she's excited
:45:27. > :45:30.but she is feeling good and pushing on. I said earlier, and I don't
:45:31. > :45:40.think we can stay away from the fact that she's coached by a world-class
:45:41. > :45:45.coach. But when you've been involved and proven to be involved in doping
:45:46. > :45:50.to the extent she has, should you be allowed to coach athletes at the
:45:51. > :45:55.Olympic Games? She shouldn't be here watching it, but should you be
:45:56. > :45:59.allowed to coach? The problem would be no on a personal basis but I
:46:00. > :46:04.don't know how you stop it, how do you tell them not to do this and
:46:05. > :46:08.that? You can stop them being here officially in a coaching capacity,
:46:09. > :46:13.stop them having access to facilities etc, I don't see how in a
:46:14. > :46:18.practical sense you can stop somebody talking on the telephone or
:46:19. > :46:26.having personal contact with whatever coaching setup they want.
:46:27. > :46:39.That's the way it is. Anyway, Mazuronak leads, and is the marathon
:46:40. > :46:46.winner waiting? She's sitting there, watching the race. When I said she
:46:47. > :46:49.drops out shall be looking for a team manager, the one thing the
:46:50. > :46:54.Kenyans and Ethiopians are let down by their team management. I'm sure
:46:55. > :46:58.the Americans are getting great support, they know how hard this is
:46:59. > :47:02.because distance running isn't easy. Doesn't matter whether you are at
:47:03. > :47:09.the front, at the back, and what you don't want is to be let down. And
:47:10. > :47:13.this is what Tufa has been doing. She has been there for one lap. The
:47:14. > :47:19.bus will come to collect the team management to take them back, so at
:47:20. > :47:22.least she has some shade and she can sit there, rehydrate, but I don't
:47:23. > :47:27.think she can get off the middle of the loop unless she climbs the
:47:28. > :47:32.barriers the other side. Until the officials leave to go back. You're
:47:33. > :47:35.right, the back-up from the Ethiopian team, in Moscow, one of
:47:36. > :47:38.the athletes was disqualified because the team management ran
:47:39. > :47:45.across the middle of the course and handed a bottle from the wrong
:47:46. > :47:51.drinks station. Look at the leading group. The first Kenyan athlete to
:47:52. > :48:00.drop off, she won the Paris Marathon. She was a surprise
:48:01. > :48:06.selection. Jepkesho. Everyone is saying she's not good enough but
:48:07. > :48:14.there she is, she has been in contention. Jepkesho of Kenya is
:48:15. > :48:19.fading away. She is having a hard road ahead as they move into the
:48:20. > :48:23.second part of the race. Linden is off the back of the pace. I agree,
:48:24. > :48:27.she's moving up and down, getting excited going to the front, then
:48:28. > :48:30.dropping back, and I'm not sure because the thing about marathon
:48:31. > :48:36.running, you've got to be controlled and steady in your mind, especially
:48:37. > :48:39.in a competitive race like this. We look at the other Japanese athlete
:48:40. > :48:43.in that chasing group but this now is going to start whittling down.
:48:44. > :48:50.This is where the athletes are going to pay for the weather, pay for the
:48:51. > :49:00.pace, because the pace is still solid at 2.25 hours. I wouldn't be
:49:01. > :49:05.surprised if they ran faster. Sumgong moving to the front. And the
:49:06. > :49:09.two Americans are running well. They will be getting excited in the
:49:10. > :49:18.States to see that. They love their marathon runners, the preparation
:49:19. > :49:21.they do. Mazuronak, the athlete is surprised people in the London
:49:22. > :49:25.Marathon this year. Will she surprise them today? They know about
:49:26. > :49:30.her, they know she's good so they have to stay in contact with her and
:49:31. > :49:36.the two Americans just sitting at the back of the group, Amy Cragg
:49:37. > :49:41.hasn't been near the front at all. And there is Linden, who we saw
:49:42. > :49:49.leading for a spell. There's the gap between her and them. Will she try
:49:50. > :49:53.to close at or is a race over? There are the two Americans hanging onto
:49:54. > :50:02.the back. The little gaps are growing. You have to admire... It
:50:03. > :50:07.isn't tactics, it's a decision. We say, and going to go with it, if it
:50:08. > :50:13.works out, it works out and if it doesn't, I'm not going to go away
:50:14. > :50:17.thinking I didn't give it a go. The marathon is so brutal in that sense.
:50:18. > :50:20.They probably thought we can't afford to set off because there are
:50:21. > :50:27.too many good people here. This is about running for a medal, not
:50:28. > :50:34.finishing about -- not about finishing in the top ten or 20. They
:50:35. > :50:38.went for it. Jepkesho struggling. It remains to be seen whether the
:50:39. > :50:43.Americans can hang on in long enough to see the group whittled down. Ali
:50:44. > :51:00.Dixon and Sonia Samuels, they went through halfway in 76.23. So,
:51:01. > :51:03.heading for 2.23 hours. They went probably run personal bests, but the
:51:04. > :51:12.two of them are moving through the field. Just from that view, you get
:51:13. > :51:16.a good idea of how big the gap is. Linden cannot even see the leading
:51:17. > :51:21.pack in front of her but she can see the bike, and she can get a little
:51:22. > :51:28.bit of draft may be off the bike. And use that to wheel her in and not
:51:29. > :51:33.give her an advantage but Paul hardback, gradually. She won't be
:51:34. > :51:38.able to see them until the straight. From that view, you can see that Amy
:51:39. > :51:45.Cragg has managed to attach back to the front of the group. Essentially,
:51:46. > :51:49.it hasn't changed, other than the addition of Mazuronak, whom we watch
:51:50. > :51:53.move quickly after a conservative start. All the others have put
:51:54. > :51:58.themselves up there in the opening stages and stayed in contact with
:51:59. > :52:03.that group because you don't really want to see, unless it's a suicidal
:52:04. > :52:07.pace, you don't want to allow big caps to open up and then have to
:52:08. > :52:15.expend more energy to close the gaps again. On the outside of that group,
:52:16. > :52:23.the Kenyan athlete, now representing Bahrain. She's only won one marathon
:52:24. > :52:27.but she has only ran one marathon. So she's never known defeat. That
:52:28. > :52:30.group of eight athletes we were looking at, we're pretty sure that
:52:31. > :52:41.is where the winner is going to come from. Further back down the field,
:52:42. > :52:44.as they passed 23 kilometres, even the markers are confusing, not in
:52:45. > :52:49.the sense there in the right place but there's so many of them on each
:52:50. > :52:58.lap, kilometres and mile markers... Redlines, white lines, redlines.
:52:59. > :53:03.Well, these two might try to work together a little bit, Linden, and
:53:04. > :53:11.the Kenyan, Jepkesho, who wasn't going to be the best of the two.
:53:12. > :53:24.Sumgong is the favourite. I think this is the slowing down group. 30
:53:25. > :53:27.seconds behind the lead group. Mazuronak in the front. Tsegaye,
:53:28. > :53:36.very talented Ethiopian. Sumgong, having a very good year. And the
:53:37. > :53:41.world champion, Dibaba. And the two Americans, Sinead Flanagan and Amy
:53:42. > :53:49.Cragg, running brilliantly. And hanging onto this attritional pace,
:53:50. > :53:59.rather than anything superfast. Heading for below 2.26. There was a
:54:00. > :54:20.quick five kilometres between five K and ten K.
:54:21. > :54:39.She's happy to be at the front here. Mazuronak. Thinking of the
:54:40. > :54:42.controversy about being coached by a person central to the catalyst of
:54:43. > :54:48.the whole issue around the corruption issues within the IAAF.
:54:49. > :54:56.And issues around the Russian doping system, etc. You can read about it
:54:57. > :55:03.or if you're not sure. But controversial figure, let's say.
:55:04. > :55:07.Linden, trying to work hard, running well, but these people are relaxing
:55:08. > :55:10.in this group, some are working hard, some are thinking about
:55:11. > :55:19.pushing on, particularly Mazuronak in the front. I think Dibaba in the
:55:20. > :55:23.group looks very relaxed. I think she isn't doing anything to use any
:55:24. > :55:30.extra energy, just sitting in there, almost switched off, looking at the
:55:31. > :55:41.ground in front of her and striding forward. Jepkesho, she has seen
:55:42. > :55:49.Linden go past her. There is Dibaba, the smaller of the two Ethiopians.
:55:50. > :55:58.She looks comfortable. Dibaba doesn't look like she's even
:55:59. > :56:03.sweating. She looks very, very easy. Can be deceptive, though. How many
:56:04. > :56:06.times have we seen the Ethiopian athletes who look so composed and so
:56:07. > :56:11.within themselves and then suddenly Cragg cannot be able to stay with
:56:12. > :56:22.the pace without showing any visible signs of strain their faces? Between
:56:23. > :56:29.14 and 15 miles, they ran 20, so the reason why Linden has fallen off,
:56:30. > :56:33.the pace is just lifting. And, again, you can see for the first
:56:34. > :56:39.time as they approach the corner, the Ethiopians went to the front
:56:40. > :56:43.then took it wide and not negotiating that tight turn. In the
:56:44. > :56:51.latter stages, we have a lot of tight turns. They are now onto their
:56:52. > :56:55.last lap of this roughly 10K loop. When they reach this point next
:56:56. > :57:01.time, they won't turn around and then head back into the central
:57:02. > :57:04.area. The last six or seven kilometres, it is a lot of turns.
:57:05. > :57:12.You saw how much ground you can lose. It's tough. It could be a
:57:13. > :57:18.factor if they are still a group together. It is tough to make turns
:57:19. > :57:23.on sweaty feet that might have a lot of water in them, and to have
:57:24. > :57:28.blisters, and also your lower leg and upper leg muscles are starting
:57:29. > :57:31.to fatigue and tighten up, and the twists and turns are making demands
:57:32. > :57:37.of your body that much harder than just to keep running in a straight
:57:38. > :57:42.line. So, that section we were alluding to, 17 minutes, and given
:57:43. > :57:50.the previous fastest 5K was between five and ten was 16.59 so there was
:57:51. > :57:58.an uplift their and through 25 kilometres in the last 1.5 miles, it
:57:59. > :58:06.is at times. There are two of the triplets. Not sure where the other
:58:07. > :58:20.one is gone. There is Lily. Estonian triplets. Back to the leading group.
:58:21. > :58:24.Nine athletes there. Two athletes representing Bahrain, to athletes
:58:25. > :58:34.representing Ethiopian, two athletes representing Kenya. And great to see
:58:35. > :58:45.both Americans in that group. Cragg and Flanagan. Chelimo, the former
:58:46. > :58:56.Kenyan running for Bahrain. Then the two Kenyans, Sumgong, looking more
:58:57. > :59:00.relaxed, but difficult to say. As we were saying, Dibaba looking very
:59:01. > :59:07.comfortable. And the tour of the two, Tsegaye. Then the two
:59:08. > :59:19.Americans. The third member of their team also running strongly. Linden
:59:20. > :59:29.is in tenth place here. That lead group, there is nine, then a gap of
:59:30. > :59:33.about 30 seconds. Running on her own, and others start to drop away
:59:34. > :59:36.and continue to drop away, and others coming through from further
:59:37. > :59:48.back who might have a chance of getting into the top ten.
:59:49. > :59:56.They are about 1.5 minutes behind this group which is spread across
:59:57. > :59:59.the road there. It sometimes indicates that athletes are
:00:00. > :00:04.beginning to think about getting things moving at the front, not
:00:05. > :00:13.happy to sit in a group, spread out across the road.
:00:14. > :00:19.Or it just means that nobody is particularly keen to take on the
:00:20. > :00:24.lead at that point, so they are just having a look to see if anybody is
:00:25. > :00:30.willing to keep the pace moving. Yeah, it may be a sign of things
:00:31. > :00:33.just slowing slightly, but the last couple of miles the pace has been
:00:34. > :00:42.pretty good, and given that for quite a few of these women,
:00:43. > :00:49.Mazuronak, in particular, she has run a bit quicker than that, but she
:00:50. > :00:52.is operating really comfortably at this pace, and she is the one who
:00:53. > :00:56.seems to be wanting to keep things moving along, wants to capitalise on
:00:57. > :01:04.the fact that at this stage of the race she is feeling good. Cragg
:01:05. > :01:08.looking as though she are starting to struggle just a little bit there
:01:09. > :01:12.at the back of the group, and her team-mate, Linden, if anything, that
:01:13. > :01:18.gap is not getting bigger. She might be closing a little bit, it was 30
:01:19. > :01:23.seconds at the 25 K point, she will probably be counting in her head as
:01:24. > :01:27.the seconds go by. We will get an idea where we get to the next time
:01:28. > :01:35.checkpoint just how big that gap is, it is hard to tell on the telephoto
:01:36. > :01:40.lens, it can shorten it. And the marathon now moves to BBC
:01:41. > :01:42.One, if you want to see the closing stages of the race, and the
:01:43. > :01:49.beautiful scenery that we are enjoying here in Rio, that will
:01:50. > :01:53.finish down at the Sambodromo buyer that readable stretch on Copacabana
:01:54. > :01:58.Beach. If you want to watch that race, head over to BBC One. -- that
:01:59. > :02:07.beautiful stretch. We are moving on to table tennis,
:02:08. > :02:10.and neither of the British players had qualified for the individual
:02:11. > :02:13.event at the Olympics, and they made pretty good progress before they
:02:14. > :02:17.were eliminated. They are being joined by Sam Walker in the team
:02:18. > :02:22.event, but they are taking on China in the quarterfinals. This is the
:02:23. > :02:28.draw, let's have a look at how things look for Great Britain. As I
:02:29. > :02:31.said, taking on China, the nation who won every table tennis gold four
:02:32. > :02:41.years ago. The winner of that one will play Sweden all silver
:02:42. > :02:45.medallist from 2012 Korea. The format is best of five matches, the
:02:46. > :02:51.first to three wins and goes into the next round. Very difficult start
:02:52. > :02:58.for Great Britain's Liam Pitchford, taking on the individual men's
:02:59. > :03:16.singles champion Ma Long. Let's see how he gets on.
:03:17. > :03:28.It is GB in blue, China in red in this men's table tennis team
:03:29. > :03:37.competition. Pitchford off to the perfect start.
:03:38. > :03:59.A slightly nervy start for China. Ma Long has service.
:04:00. > :04:13.Getting better and better at the moment for Pitchford.
:04:14. > :04:37.Missing long on the right-hand side. Leading by three. And now by four.
:04:38. > :04:46.Well, Ma Long cannot quite believe this at the moment. Walker and
:04:47. > :04:48.Drinkhall very pleased with the way that Pitchford was going about his
:04:49. > :05:04.business. 6-0, what a start this is. GB were not trying to get ahead of
:05:05. > :05:12.themselves still a long way to go, but so far, so good.
:05:13. > :05:55.A bit of defending to do, first point to China.
:05:56. > :06:06.That one not quite finding its mark, so China just getting themselves
:06:07. > :06:07.back in, Ma Long finding himself on three points. Pitchford, 23, from
:06:08. > :06:37.Chesterfield. Well, it was a lovely return from
:06:38. > :06:44.Pitchford, enjoyed that one as China net. Ma Long having to stretch,
:06:45. > :06:57.couldn't bring the ball back. Quite a few unforced errors creeping
:06:58. > :07:07.in for Ma Long at the moment, that is keeping Pitchford in front.
:07:08. > :07:29.Well, that was unlikely. -- unlucky. Backhand just failing to find its
:07:30. > :07:36.mark, Ma Long with the server. -- serve. Going from the crosscourt,
:07:37. > :07:45.trying to go down the line, he changed direction, not getting the
:07:46. > :08:25.contact he would have wanted, China now three back.
:08:26. > :08:31.One blistering forehand after another, and it is Pitchford who
:08:32. > :08:50.takes the point, excellent rally. Oh, Pitchford goes for it, and GB
:08:51. > :08:54.take the first game 11-6, what a good start for them. Not the best of
:08:55. > :08:58.starts for China, that is for sure, Ma Long will not be too pleased with
:08:59. > :09:04.that. That is how you do it, Liam
:09:05. > :09:07.Pitchford, not intimidated by taking on the Olympic singles champion.
:09:08. > :09:12.Unfortunately for the British player, things took a change in
:09:13. > :09:17.fortunes in the next two games, Ma Long at winning those, so we join it
:09:18. > :09:25.in the fourth game, with the singles champion leading the first match of
:09:26. > :09:31.the team event by two games to one. Let's head back for game four.
:09:32. > :09:35.COMMENTATOR: So here we go with match number two, China leading by
:09:36. > :10:03.1-0. This is the men's quarterfinal. Of course, that being Paul
:10:04. > :10:09.Drinkhall, he was to come, let's see how he got on against Ma Long with
:10:10. > :10:13.game four. COMMENTATOR: Away we go again, Ma
:10:14. > :10:56.Long with the serve, China leading 2-1.
:10:57. > :11:03.Oh, nice, sending that back across his body, Ma Long thought it was
:11:04. > :11:10.going to come to is right, really good disguise on that play from
:11:11. > :11:15.Pitchford. The spin as it hit the table, Ma Long with snow chance! --
:11:16. > :11:35.no chance. Brilliant from Ma Long, so quick to
:11:36. > :11:46.get to the ball. And that forehand was just too good for Pitchford.
:11:47. > :13:05.Ma Long not happy with that, embroiled in a long rally, all
:13:06. > :13:28.square. Oh, lovely, flicking that one away
:13:29. > :13:35.again, so quick with his backhand, the change of direction to go to the
:13:36. > :13:52.line. No chance for Ma Long with that.
:13:53. > :14:03.That is Ma Long onto the change of direction, oh, that is unlucky! He
:14:04. > :14:07.read the backhand from Pitchford, kept the ball in play. Pitchford
:14:08. > :14:25.makes the unforced error. That one was too quick for Ma Long,
:14:26. > :14:28.so Great Britain leading, trailing by 2-1, this is a must win game for
:14:29. > :15:34.Pitchford, it is best of five. Nice play, Pitchford had control of
:15:35. > :15:41.the rally sending Ma Long then the other. Moving around the table. Just
:15:42. > :16:15.too much for Ma Long. Pitchford had a 9-7 lead in the last
:16:16. > :16:18.game. Unable to convert. Can he keep hold of the lead he has engineered
:16:19. > :16:35.here? It is getting slimmer. Ma Long, went for the big forehand.
:16:36. > :17:15.Denied by Pitchford. Brilliant. Ma Long is just too good
:17:16. > :17:24.at times. As you might expect from the world champion and Olympic
:17:25. > :17:32.champion. Pitchford, looking to get a game point chance. Ma Long,
:17:33. > :17:51.looking to get level. And he has done. However, it is Pitchford
:17:52. > :18:00.serving at 9-9. It was Ma Long serving out 9-9 in the last game.
:18:01. > :18:17.Hopefully it will be all square going into the deciding game.
:18:18. > :18:26.Just clipping Dalat as it went over. Little bit of luck for China. --
:18:27. > :18:37.clipping the net. They now have a match point.
:18:38. > :18:54.That's it, Ma Long takes its 11-9, after getting back from 6-8 down.
:18:55. > :19:00.Liam Pitchford might be disappointed with the way he ended that match.
:19:01. > :19:05.But no shame at all in losing to the Olympic singles champion. China
:19:06. > :19:11.going 1-0 up in this team quarterfinal. The Great Britain was
:19:12. > :19:16.Paul Drinkhall. It is the best of five. China up by one match. Another
:19:17. > :19:23.win for China and they will be closing in on the semifinals. This
:19:24. > :20:03.is Paul drink all against Xin Xu. Nice start for Great Britain.
:20:04. > :20:05.Drinkhall, gets the opening point. A little bit of luck as that one
:20:06. > :20:28.clipped the net. Two points won on service. Shop
:20:29. > :21:10.finish from Drinkhall, down the line.
:21:11. > :21:21.It was unlucky, Drinkhall having a swipe at that one, but China have
:21:22. > :21:27.levelled up. It is always the risk, to go so heavy with the return shot.
:21:28. > :21:28.You have to be so fine to get the top-spin, but he misses it
:21:29. > :21:41.completely. We have seen parts of the World
:21:42. > :21:56.Championship winning team in Kuala Lumpur in 2016, along with Ma Long,
:21:57. > :22:01.very experienced athlete. That was great by Drinkhall. Change of pace,
:22:02. > :22:03.they have been delicate so far, so seeing each other out. Just
:22:04. > :22:20.unleashed the power game. Such a fine line, the margins
:22:21. > :22:24.between success and failure. It can easily clipped the table just as
:22:25. > :22:41.easy as it can mess. -- miss. Touches the top of the net. He gets
:22:42. > :23:01.another go at it. Outstanding. So much defending and
:23:02. > :23:08.then saw his chance and the backhand crosscourt, brilliant return. It is
:23:09. > :23:15.the flight of the ball, you just see it exploding of Drinkhall's racket.
:23:16. > :23:24.Of the other end of the table, no chance to return it. He is hot and
:23:25. > :23:32.now, he has the ball down the long side, just uses the availability of
:23:33. > :23:39.the open side. He is delighted. This is a nice lead and now that Great
:23:40. > :23:46.Britain have engineered. Paul Drinkhall in charge, for the moment
:23:47. > :23:53.in this first game. Three required to take the opening first game. Such
:23:54. > :23:59.a sport of momentum. As the player gets hot, you see subsequent points
:24:00. > :24:07.there from Drinkhall. He gets it into the body of Xin Xu, and is
:24:08. > :24:27.pressing the issue now. Decent return from Xin Xu.
:24:28. > :24:50.It can change so quickly. However, Paul Drinkhall, two points ahead.
:24:51. > :24:58.That it really opened at that point, the angle allowing the sweeping
:24:59. > :25:03.forehand. Just not able to be accurate enough and Great Britain
:25:04. > :25:14.take the ninth point and within touching distance of this game. He
:25:15. > :25:18.lost his opening match to Ma Long. Very exciting opening match. This
:25:19. > :25:32.one is no different. Paul Drinkhall, holding on here. It
:25:33. > :25:48.has been a while since he's got a point.
:25:49. > :25:54.Little bit of a double edged sword when you get to these latter stages
:25:55. > :26:01.of a game when the pressure starts to mount. The urgency from the
:26:02. > :26:04.opponent to stay in the game, and it forces another error. China, right
:26:05. > :26:19.on the cusp of levelling. That will do very nicely. Drinkhall
:26:20. > :26:22.had engineered a couple of chances he had failed to take. Now he has
:26:23. > :26:37.game point. Very nicely done by Xin Xu. Into the
:26:38. > :27:05.backhand of Drinkhall. The top-spin catching the table and
:27:06. > :27:11.kicking up on Drinkhall, catches the top of his racket and he is unable
:27:12. > :27:16.to control it. The same, likewise on return with that serve. He will take
:27:17. > :27:21.it. What a moment for the British athlete to come back with a service
:27:22. > :27:26.game and force it. Nothing could be done, it just takes off on the
:27:27. > :27:35.racket and that is dynamic from Great Britain in that response. This
:27:36. > :27:52.is how it was done. Trying to chop the ball back, it didn't work.
:27:53. > :27:58.Brilliant start for Drinkhall. He held on, Drinkhall. Took him a while
:27:59. > :28:01.to get his points, but he's done it. Has the opening game and the
:28:02. > :28:06.advantage. Once again, first blood Great
:28:07. > :28:12.Britain. Paul Drinkhall trying to get the team into the last 16 of
:28:13. > :28:20.this tie. But that is as good as it got because Paul Drinkhall lost to
:28:21. > :28:26.Xin Xu by 3-1. That put China two matches to the good in this best of
:28:27. > :28:33.five tie. Which meant it is the doubles that could be the decider.
:28:34. > :28:38.Now Paul Drinkhall was back to the table alongside his partner, Sam
:28:39. > :28:53.Walker. They had lost against France in the previous round and the Thais
:28:54. > :29:01.don't get easier against Jike Zhang and Xin Xu. Great Britain needing to
:29:02. > :29:03.win to stay in The Games. China getting off to a very good
:29:04. > :29:16.start. That's one of the battle at an
:29:17. > :29:30.awkward angle. Too quick for Walker to deal with.
:29:31. > :29:37.Just looked as if Paul Drinkhall was off balance. He was waiting and
:29:38. > :29:41.waiting. When he actually put back to ball, combination of spin and
:29:42. > :29:50.balance, put paid to him getting it back. That was smart, just to open
:29:51. > :29:54.up the near side. Maybe that was a little bit of the exploitation of
:29:55. > :30:00.the two right-handed players the Great Britain. Just in the body.
:30:01. > :30:05.They are having a run of it here now. Great Britain will get the
:30:06. > :30:07.benefit of the missed shot from China. They have got themselves on
:30:08. > :30:31.the board in this second game. Very well crafted, the Chinese, the
:30:32. > :30:38.way they line up in support of each other in their service game, and
:30:39. > :30:47.write there pull out a different approach. That is going to be beyond
:30:48. > :30:54.Drinkhall, he could not quite get into position, just stretching out
:30:55. > :31:04.beyond the end of his bat. 7-1, it is the dominant performance from the
:31:05. > :31:09.Chinese. They get one back, though. As you would expect, Ma Long, part
:31:10. > :31:22.of the gold medal winning team in 2012. They defended their title from
:31:23. > :31:29.2008 in Beijing, looking good here already in this third match, leading
:31:30. > :31:34.2-0, thinking about booking their place in the semifinals here in Rio.
:31:35. > :31:40.It is not over until it is over, they will be telling themselves
:31:41. > :31:49.that, and that was a very nice return from Walker to deny China.
:31:50. > :31:58.That was a great rally, wasn't it? But unfortunately for Walker, he was
:31:59. > :32:04.running out of room. Yeah, this is the best look at a point played in
:32:05. > :32:05.this matchup so far. You see the end, the finishing of it, but a
:32:06. > :32:23.great rally. Just the spin there, isn't it? Just
:32:24. > :32:29.too deceptive, it just holds up, it is a swing and a miss. You just get
:32:30. > :32:36.a feeling, watching Walker playing, he is not up to speed, not as much
:32:37. > :32:42.as the opposition, both with their first look at the table, having
:32:43. > :32:46.played against each other in the match before. Six-game points for
:32:47. > :33:12.China to open up a 2-0 lead. He has shown that back and twice in
:33:13. > :33:14.successive points, flicking out the wrists, equally with control, most
:33:15. > :33:32.importantly. -- backhand. Saw that indication there, the
:33:33. > :33:39.finger pointed down to the floor, team communication, and look at the
:33:40. > :33:43.execution from drink all. The point of the finger down, communication
:33:44. > :33:46.amongst their side. They just aren't hooked their own wagon, don't they?
:33:47. > :33:56.Just when you thought they were gathering some momentum, they slip,
:33:57. > :34:03.China take that second game 11-7. And these two gentlemen are on a
:34:04. > :34:08.roll, carrying on the good work of this team. In the quarterfinal, this
:34:09. > :34:14.is match number three, the doubles portion of it, it is 11-4 and 11-7
:34:15. > :34:22.so far. ORE ODUBA: Just like that, GB go out
:34:23. > :34:27.of the men's table tennis, really positive moments for Paul Drinkhall
:34:28. > :34:32.and Liam Pitchford in the competition, but a relief to test
:34:33. > :34:36.against China. Five of the gold medals went to them back in 2012,
:34:37. > :34:46.and they are well set to take them all in Rio as well. They go out at
:34:47. > :34:50.the last 16 stage, beaten 3-0. That was a bit of a disappointment
:34:51. > :34:54.for Great Britain in the table tennis, we are hoping for plenty
:34:55. > :34:58.more in the golf, and we said at the top of the programme it is D-Day in
:34:59. > :35:02.the men's competition, and I remember seeing a text yesterday by
:35:03. > :35:07.Sergio Garcia, who as well as other things said it was the best decision
:35:08. > :35:11.of his life to come to Rio and compete in this tournament. Justin
:35:12. > :35:15.Rose is really enjoying himself, not least because he leads the
:35:16. > :35:20.competition, or at least he did going into the fourth day, and he
:35:21. > :35:23.has been loving life in Rio. We saw him in the village, and enjoying the
:35:24. > :35:33.opening ceremony, and when it comes down to it, the 2013 US Open
:35:34. > :35:38.champion is as focused as it comes. Growing up, I never really thought
:35:39. > :35:42.of golf and Olympic gold in the same sentence, incredibly excited about
:35:43. > :35:49.the prospect, and I hoped my ranking would allow me to come and compete.
:35:50. > :35:53.Justin Rose of Great Britain... I remember my dad talking about going
:35:54. > :35:56.to an Olympic Games and just, you know, having had one of the greatest
:35:57. > :36:01.experience of his life doing that, and I'm sure it he would have been
:36:02. > :36:05.proud to see me walk out in the Maracana Stadium. But do have my mum
:36:06. > :36:08.in the stadium was just amazing, she wouldn't have missed it for the
:36:09. > :36:12.world. There has been a lot of negative publicity around the golf,
:36:13. > :36:16.and rightly so, obviously, but there is a world-class field with some
:36:17. > :36:21.great players who are giving it 100%, and we can focus on the good
:36:22. > :36:24.stuff. Whoever wins Olympic gold will have to play four great rounds
:36:25. > :36:29.of golf and will be a deserved champion. How good is that?! And
:36:30. > :36:34.from your point of view as well, your wife has been an Olympic
:36:35. > :36:38.inspiration for you as well, there was no way you could have been
:36:39. > :36:44.dodging this domestically. I would have been hearing about it for
:36:45. > :36:48.years, she was the European champion gymnast, she was in sports
:36:49. > :36:53.acrobatics, which is not Olympic Lee recognised. In a way, it was a
:36:54. > :36:56.far-off dream for her, so I guess she is getting half of the
:36:57. > :37:01.experience through me, so off I win Olympic gold, half of it goes to
:37:02. > :37:05.her. He was definitely looking forward to
:37:06. > :37:09.it, and after the first three days he has taken that enthusiasm onto
:37:10. > :37:13.the golf course. The lead going into the final round, Kath Downes is
:37:14. > :37:19.there on the reserve, bring us up to date, he has been giving as eagles
:37:20. > :37:22.and Poles in one, what about the fourth and final day?
:37:23. > :37:27.An epic day so far, we will bring the latest in a moment, that is
:37:28. > :37:32.12,000 spectators waiting to see who will win that first Olympic gold for
:37:33. > :37:36.112 years, golf has been away from the Olympics, and many people said
:37:37. > :37:42.it was going to be a bit of a hard sell. Not a particularly popular
:37:43. > :37:46.sport in Brazil, then five of the top ten dropped out, Rory McIlroy
:37:47. > :37:50.going on to say that Olympic gold did not really matter, so golf was
:37:51. > :37:53.seen as perhaps a bit of a misfit going into these games, but quite
:37:54. > :37:57.how it has turned itself around, thanks of course to the battle
:37:58. > :38:03.between Justin Rose and his good friend Henrik Stenson, going into
:38:04. > :38:06.this final day, we have seen packed crowds, the number of spectators has
:38:07. > :38:12.divided expectations. The players really enjoying this brand-new
:38:13. > :38:17.course down here, many of them throwing themselves into the
:38:18. > :38:20.Olympics be. Justin Rose, of course, the biggest cheerleader for Olympic
:38:21. > :38:25.gold, so great to see him at the top. He and Henrik Stenson playing
:38:26. > :38:29.cat and mouse all the way through day three, let's remind ourselves of
:38:30. > :38:34.that epic battle. Say what you want about golf in Rio,
:38:35. > :38:38.it certainly has the weather for it, clear blue skies and light winds
:38:39. > :38:44.yesterday, perfect conditions for launching an attack on the podium.
:38:45. > :38:50.In shades of red, step forward Justin Rose, Olympic golf's biggest
:38:51. > :38:58.fan, keen to put his money where his mouth is, eagle on the third. Around
:38:59. > :39:03.she goes, this man is making a lot of markers on this golf course. And
:39:04. > :39:07.theory of eagles, that is the collective noun, by the end of the
:39:08. > :39:15.fifth, he had two on his card and was down to ten under. Those are the
:39:16. > :39:19.pads he has to make more of. Henrik Stenson had been watching, and not
:39:20. > :39:35.to be outdone he produced an eagle of his own, the chase was on. It is
:39:36. > :39:41.looking good, what a pad! -- putt. Still good enough to head out in the
:39:42. > :39:44.leading group today, Bubba Watson may have two Greenjackets, but he
:39:45. > :39:50.quite fancies an Olympic medal to complete the look, sinking some
:39:51. > :39:54.monster putts along the way, he finished on six under. Golf's
:39:55. > :39:59.inclusion in the Olympics is a chance to showcase the best of the
:40:00. > :40:05.sport, so how about this? South Africa's Jaco van Zyl on the par
:40:06. > :40:09.three eighth, the second hole in one of the tournament. Justin Rose, of
:40:10. > :40:14.course, got the first. He was going great guns on the 12th. That looks
:40:15. > :40:20.good, that looks really good, how good is that?! That was for a two
:40:21. > :40:25.shot lead, and he made amends for a dropped shot on 14 with another
:40:26. > :40:30.birdie on the 15th. Justin Rose looks good, he has got it, Justin
:40:31. > :40:35.Rose leads by one. Sweden's Henrik Stenson was not far behind, he
:40:36. > :40:44.fancied a birdie at the 15th too, and he got it, pulling level with
:40:45. > :40:48.Rose. Oh, it is brilliant, with the deliberation, brilliant from
:40:49. > :40:52.Stenson. Rose was a step ahead, back into the outright lead. The reclaim
:40:53. > :41:10.is that one stroke lead over Henrik Stenson, who has just birdied 15. --
:41:11. > :41:14.the -- he reclaims. Justin Rose leads. Denson chased all the way,
:41:15. > :41:22.the Swede on the 18th with a chance to tie the lead. -- Stenson. Blue
:41:23. > :41:28.sky, then, between Great Britain's Rose and the rest of the field, but
:41:29. > :41:31.only just. It would be great to win a medal, we have been waiting a long
:41:32. > :41:36.time for golf to be back in the Olympics, and I came here to give
:41:37. > :41:39.myself a chance to win a medal, ultimately win the gold medal, and
:41:40. > :41:44.it seems like we will have a chance for that tomorrow. I think it would
:41:45. > :41:48.mean an awful lot, you see how much it means to other athletes, how
:41:49. > :41:53.people devote their lives to an Olympic medal, and to have one would
:41:54. > :41:57.be unbelievable. In golf, we have not had the opportunity to realise
:41:58. > :42:00.how much it means yet, but once all the guys seize on slipped a gold
:42:01. > :42:09.medal on their neck, we will realise what a big moment it is. -- see
:42:10. > :42:15.someone. That is how it was overnight, Justin Rose with a 1-shot
:42:16. > :42:19.lead on 12 under par, one shot ahead of his good friend and Ryder Cup
:42:20. > :42:25.team-mate Henrik Stenson of Sweden, the Open champion. Marcus Fraser of
:42:26. > :42:30.Australia also in the top three, and then a chasing pack, Bubba Watson,
:42:31. > :42:34.two time Masters champion on six under, alongside David Lingmerth,
:42:35. > :42:40.and Emiliano Grillo also at six under. But let's quickly summarise
:42:41. > :42:45.what has happened so far, the leading group are on the third. Both
:42:46. > :42:49.of them birdied the first, so both of them going well at the beginning,
:42:50. > :42:55.but on the second, take a look at this, Justin Rose with a rather
:42:56. > :43:00.wayward tee shot that landed in the crowd, and a spectator, can you
:43:01. > :43:06.believe it, picked up the ball. As I say, not a lot of the ban at! Know
:43:07. > :43:13.much about golf, there are big screens reminding people of the
:43:14. > :43:19.rules. -- a lot of the fans know much about golf. Stenson birdied the
:43:20. > :43:23.second, he pulled level with Justin Rose at 13 under, and this was just
:43:24. > :43:29.a couple of minutes ago, Justin Rose with a birdie to claim the outright
:43:30. > :43:33.lead again. On the third, Justin Rose, 14 under, he has the outright
:43:34. > :43:38.lead again from Henrik Stenson, the cat and mouse game continues, we
:43:39. > :43:43.will go over to the live commentary. He has been striking the ball so
:43:44. > :43:47.cleanly, Stenson, yesterday, by contrast, in round three, hit
:43:48. > :43:52.knotting cleanly on the front nine. He still managed to scramble his way
:43:53. > :43:56.through and maintain position at the top of the leaderboard. Stenson
:43:57. > :44:33.going with the six iron here. He doesn't like this, Henrik
:44:34. > :44:40.Stenson. That is why, it leaks away. Trickles down into the bunker, not a
:44:41. > :44:41.difficult bunker shot, looking to lie in a comfortable position, but
:44:42. > :44:56.Marcus Fraser will tee off now. Marcus Fraser is going with the five
:44:57. > :45:01.iron, there is a shadow over the ball now, and it is always
:45:02. > :45:04.difficult, you see the ball at the top of your swing suddenly appearing
:45:05. > :45:06.in the sunshine after it has been in your shadow - it just doesn't sit
:45:07. > :45:17.right. A few words of encouragement from
:45:18. > :45:21.the gallery, it will just stay... Yes, it stays. Another birdie
:45:22. > :45:41.chance. Grillo, second shot to the par-5.
:45:42. > :45:51.Just over 200 metres here for the Argentine. It is a good one. Eagle
:45:52. > :46:10.putt. Sergio Garcia on the par-5 10th.
:46:11. > :46:21.Third shot for the Spaniard. That looks very good. Sergio Garcia,
:46:22. > :46:30.getting in close. That was a short while ago. Speaking of caddies that
:46:31. > :46:35.help players to success, his caddy is Glenn Murray. Was on the bike for
:46:36. > :46:44.a long time for Retief Goosen and Charles sorts all. Just on roads
:46:45. > :46:56.leads by one. Just macro Justin Rose. Bubba Watson now on this
:46:57. > :47:03.par-5. Second shot to the American. Towering height. Just lands like a
:47:04. > :47:11.bag of flour. Almost pin high for Bubba Watson on five. That's an
:47:12. > :47:20.indication he liked the shot. It looks like three of them will be
:47:21. > :47:30.putting for eagle at five. Mat Kuchar now. Birdie chance at six.
:47:31. > :47:46.Just looked like he had stabbed at it. Relief for Mat Kuchar. His putts
:47:47. > :47:55.haven't been dropping this week. Not relief for Henrik Stenson. He is a
:47:56. > :48:04.competent bunker player. The ball is sitting nicely, no excuse not to get
:48:05. > :48:13.this close. Doesn't have a great lip to get over. Have seen some great
:48:14. > :48:25.recovery shots from Henrik Stenson over three days. Second shot now to
:48:26. > :48:38.the par-3, 4th hole. Nicely done. Very nicely done from Henrik
:48:39. > :48:44.Stenson. Henrik Stenson, just perfect balance in that swing. So
:48:45. > :48:50.good with the balance, got it up nice and high and down quickly. I
:48:51. > :48:56.allowed it to saddle. The land is judged perfectly. Has pulled it ever
:48:57. > :49:12.so slightly to his left. Nothing more than a little role in for par.
:49:13. > :49:23.Marcus Fraser, Berdych and is for Australia's Marcus Fraser. Dropped a
:49:24. > :49:37.shot at three. Opportunity to get it back at number four.
:49:38. > :49:48.Just like he had left it low. Marcus Fraser, showing his confidence with
:49:49. > :49:55.the putter. He is afraid to leave it short. Nothing tentative about his
:49:56. > :50:07.strokes. Ahead on five, Eagle for Bubba Watson. Not going to move from
:50:08. > :50:15.there. Little tale right at the end. Just a tiny little movement at the
:50:16. > :50:22.end. Very well judged. This is the putt now. Justin Rose is surveying
:50:23. > :50:27.this now, it will be his third birdie of the round and would put
:50:28. > :50:52.some light between him and Henrik Stenson by two shots.
:50:53. > :51:10.Never quite on nine. It is a safe par for Justin Rose. Stays at
:51:11. > :51:19.14-under. Playing alongside Bubba Watson is Emiliano Grillo. And Eagle
:51:20. > :51:28.putt for the Argentine. He was just disgusted by the way he struck it.
:51:29. > :51:39.That is why, it is well short by Grillo. Marcus Fraser, of Australia.
:51:40. > :51:48.For par? No. Marcus Fraser, has just dropped back to 7-under, just off
:51:49. > :51:54.the edge of the green. Had a putt from the fringe to get back to
:51:55. > :52:04.9-under and has three putted from possibly 12, 14 feet. Henrik
:52:05. > :52:47.Stenson, his putt for par. Confident. Henrik Stenson takes par.
:52:48. > :52:50.Justin Rose maintains that 1-stroke lead through four holes in the final
:52:51. > :53:07.round of the men's individual stroke play.
:53:08. > :53:18.Birdie from Lingmerth. Sweden's David Lingmerth, has another
:53:19. > :53:26.positive on his scorecard. Thomas Pieters, just can't stop putting for
:53:27. > :53:31.birdie. Another sure birdie putt. Thomas Pieters is making a very
:53:32. > :53:38.merry way through the Olympic Golf Course. Thomas Pieters is now alone
:53:39. > :53:47.in third, at 8-under par, 5-under for the day. Marcus Fraser has
:53:48. > :54:02.dropped two in the last two holes. Seamus Powell, making his way up the
:54:03. > :54:10.leaderboard. 6-under for the day. -- Seamus Power. Quick look at the 5th
:54:11. > :54:16.hole. Par-5, paying 501 metres, reachable par-5. Water down the
:54:17. > :54:21.left-hand side but only a couple of players have allowed the water to
:54:22. > :54:32.come into play. Premium on accuracy, the further you go up this hole, to
:54:33. > :54:39.agreeing that is reachable. Less than 200 yards into a large landing
:54:40. > :54:47.area. Justin Rose now on five. 14-under par. This hole today,
:54:48. > :55:25.yielding a lot of birdies. Lots of birdies. He likes it. That
:55:26. > :55:32.sounded like Henrik Stenson just said, shot, as he walked to the tee.
:55:33. > :55:41.A polite thank you from Justin Rose. Lovely golf swing. Is he going with
:55:42. > :55:48.the 3-wood, or has he got the big one? The driver hasn't come out of
:55:49. > :55:59.the bag yet. The driver yesterday, he wasn't in sync with the driver.
:56:00. > :56:01.Very diplomatic way of saying it. He hits this wonderfully, and for many
:56:02. > :56:22.golfers, it is worth a driver. Pitched into the bank. Bit of
:56:23. > :56:33.backspin. It is the slope that brings it back down. Tonnes of gold
:56:34. > :56:40.power -- golf power in the legs that the Swede. Marcus Fraser has some
:56:41. > :56:56.work to do as he has dropped down the leaderboard. Not a bogey in the
:56:57. > :56:58.hole. This needs to be scoring hole. Marcus Fraser, that is exactly where
:56:59. > :57:15.you want to be. Up ahead on six, David Lingmerth
:57:16. > :57:32.from Sweden. 7-iron in his hands. 192 yards. That is a great shot.
:57:33. > :57:39.David Lingmerth, giving himself lots of birdie opportunities on the golf
:57:40. > :57:45.courses. Now, Seamus Power, we saw him chip for his birdie chance at
:57:46. > :57:51.12. This will be a par putt for Seamus Power, to remain on 7-under
:57:52. > :57:57.and tying for fourth. The Irishman going along splendidly, still set
:57:58. > :58:01.for the low round of the day, 6-under par is Seamus Power. Thomas
:58:02. > :58:08.Pieters, 8-under for the Championship, 5-under through the
:58:09. > :58:17.day. Adilson Da Silva, the Brazilian looking for a positive finish. Put
:58:18. > :58:23.it close at 17. Adilson Da Silva, is certainly having one of the better
:58:24. > :58:28.rounds of the day. He went out in 30, 5-under par. Yes, he has had a
:58:29. > :58:36.couple of bogeys coming home, but that is well set for a birdie.
:58:37. > :58:42.Justin Rose leads at 14-under par. Henrik Stenson at 13-under. Thomas
:58:43. > :58:51.Pieters is now 8-under par. Bubba Watson, 6-under, hasn't moved.
