:00:07. > :00:19.Henrik Stenson on the 16th. Second shot.

:00:20. > :00:29.Oh, how good is that? It is brilliant from Stenson. There was a

:00:30. > :00:36.hush all around the green. And an eruption of applause as that ball

:00:37. > :00:46.just stopped behind the bin. He threw it up beyond the flag, beyond

:00:47. > :00:52.the pin. The gallery is now 12 deep watching Stenson and Rose. Marcus

:00:53. > :00:58.Fraser has been playing the best golf of the grouping in the last

:00:59. > :01:05.couple of holes. Justin Rose needs this to be good.

:01:06. > :01:12.If he is to stay 15-under or at least stay in front of Stenson by

:01:13. > :01:27.one. It is a very makeable putt currently.

:01:28. > :01:35.Oh, that is a little slip from Justin Rose. He's come up short. And

:01:36. > :01:51.he knows it. Justin Rose perhaps scuffed it

:01:52. > :02:00.slightly but left it well short. Fraser tossed it up, Stenson tossed

:02:01. > :02:07.it up, they both have very makeable putts as a result. It is certainly

:02:08. > :02:13.advantage Sweden on 16. A chance possibly for Henrik Stenson to get

:02:14. > :02:20.that shot back. He's got a birdie putt from about six feet. Justin

:02:21. > :02:26.Rose has left his at least 20 feet short.

:02:27. > :02:55.He's battling to become the Olympic champion.

:02:56. > :03:02.It is going to be a slight uphill putt, a little bump, then down off

:03:03. > :03:24.the right for Justin Rose. He needs to cover every blade of

:03:25. > :03:28.grass. He doesn't want to let the Olympic gold medal slip out of his

:03:29. > :04:05.grasp. He leads by one with three holes to play. It is a birdie putt.

:04:06. > :04:16.He's got a very good line here. Oh, that was so unlucky. How did that

:04:17. > :04:24.Miss? He could not have hit it better. It was a wonderful putt.

:04:25. > :04:31.Justin Rose... It is in, it is tracking towards the hole, how does

:04:32. > :04:37.it break that much so late? It goes by on the front edge of the hole.

:04:38. > :04:45.And Henrik Stenson breathes as big a sigh of relief as any. Tension has

:04:46. > :04:57.been mounting here, Stenson has to make it. But it is going to be

:04:58. > :05:15.Fraser first. He played a very nice chip on 14.

:05:16. > :05:29.Fraser can't make birdie, has to settle for par. All eyes now in

:05:30. > :05:36.Sweden's Henrik Stenson. -- all eyes now on Sweden's Henrik Stenson.

:05:37. > :05:44.Fraser is 1-over for his round of golf. Justin Rose, 3-under. Matt

:05:45. > :05:48.Kuchar, 63 today, currently occupying third place on his own at

:05:49. > :06:10.13-under par. He is in the clubhouse.

:06:11. > :06:15.Justin Rose, any range of emotion for him. Apprehensive, annoyed,

:06:16. > :06:25.agitated. Stenson for birdie to join Rose for

:06:26. > :06:50.15-under. I think it is very straight. Just a

:06:51. > :07:02.hair's-breadth right. Just got a second opinion from his caddy. Just

:07:03. > :07:11.a hair left-to-right. Henrik Stenson has to make this putt. He makes it!

:07:12. > :07:22.He makes birdie on 16 to draw level with Britain's Justin Rose. At

:07:23. > :07:31.15-under par. Rose still has this par to make, and there are no

:07:32. > :07:42.formalities, really, but this should be a mere formality. That putt

:07:43. > :07:53.slipped agonisingly by. I can tell you Justin Rose... He makes this

:07:54. > :08:00.par. He kept saying in the build-up, I want my career record to read,

:08:01. > :08:05."Justin Rose, multiple open champion and gold-medallist." He's desperate

:08:06. > :08:12.for this gold medal. Him and Henrik Stenson. He thinks this Olympic

:08:13. > :08:18.medal might make him a little bit more famous, but still not the most

:08:19. > :08:23.famous in Sweden. I think that is still Zlatan Ibrahimovic by some

:08:24. > :08:29.margin, the Swedish footballer, and playing for Manchester United. So,

:08:30. > :08:37.Stenson is on the tee first, after his birdie at 16, two holes to play,

:08:38. > :08:40.it is a short par-3, and then a reachable in two par-5. Two good

:08:41. > :09:23.scoring holes. Two superb golfers. It is five more than we would

:09:24. > :09:50.normally play, isn't it? Get it passed there. Only an extra

:09:51. > :09:56.two. Henrik Stenson, 122 metres, par

:09:57. > :10:05.three, tucked away behind the bunker on the left. The left front side of

:10:06. > :10:10.this green at 17, the penultimate hole in the final round of the men's

:10:11. > :10:14.individual stroke play. It has come down to the finishing holes between

:10:15. > :10:16.two major champions looking to become the first Olympic champions

:10:17. > :10:33.in 112 years. Opted to go with the wedge, Henrik

:10:34. > :10:38.Stenson. A lot of adrenaline flowing there, that was a wedge. Marcus

:10:39. > :11:25.Fraser is next. It is going to go left. My goodness,

:11:26. > :11:29.I don't think anyone has been there on the 17th. It has completely flown

:11:30. > :11:51.in the green. His instruction is to hit 132 yard

:11:52. > :11:57.wedge. That is the instruction to Justin Rose, pitching wedge, 132,

:11:58. > :12:04.the instruction from his caddy. Please put the cameras down, stop

:12:05. > :12:46.taking pictures for one minute! It is going a little left. Oh, has

:12:47. > :12:50.it...? Its holding. So, a little long, maybe some adrenaline pumping

:12:51. > :12:57.for Rose and Stenson currently. It is to be expected. I could have hit

:12:58. > :13:11.nine. He went in with a wedge. He went in with wedge, hit the back

:13:12. > :13:17.of the green, and is over the back, Justin Rose. He tells his caddy was

:13:18. > :13:23.a good call! Think how far over he would have been if he'd of gone with

:13:24. > :13:27.nine. 15-under par, Justin Rose, 3-under for his round today. Henrik

:13:28. > :13:33.Stenson is 4-under. The round of the day from the United States, Matt

:13:34. > :13:43.Kuchar at 63. He is 13-under in third place on his own. Earlier on

:13:44. > :13:54.18... Bubba Watson, 7-under to finish up. He sees it slide by in a

:13:55. > :14:02.frustrating round of 70. He tapped this in. It hasn't been the kind of

:14:03. > :14:07.round he would have hoped for. Put him into a position where he was

:14:08. > :14:16.able to make a chase. CP could put some pressure on Stenson and Rose.

:14:17. > :14:26.And anybody else. Instead Bubba Watson looked frustrated by a number

:14:27. > :14:30.of putts that slipped by. He finishes the Olympic golf tournament

:14:31. > :14:34.in this competition in the individual stroke play on 7-under. A

:14:35. > :14:46.very popular character in golf is Bubba Watson. The ball into the

:14:47. > :14:51.grandstand. Oh, collectors items. It is a sold-out affair, and this is

:14:52. > :15:02.why. A titanic duel between Henrik and Justin Rose. Rose, doesn't have

:15:03. > :15:07.a victory on the PGA Tour this year, which is somewhat surprising. He has

:15:08. > :15:13.five Tour events left after Rio to find a win.

:15:14. > :15:21.First to go here on 17, Australia's Marcus Fraser. I think he has either

:15:22. > :15:27.a 5-wood or maybe a hybrid that he is going to use. Looks like maybe

:15:28. > :15:37.hybrid. Somebody's cell phone just rang. They have gone the Forde days.

:15:38. > :15:43.-- they have gone for four days. Nobody has been here on 17 before.

:15:44. > :15:52.This is a first. As far as this shot is concerned.

:15:53. > :16:13.Six, six. -- sit, sit. That's pretty good from there.

:16:14. > :16:22.The par-5 18th to come, into the wind.

:16:23. > :16:35.There have not been too many birdies on the 18th. Not too many, but there

:16:36. > :16:40.has been an eagle. A chip in. The birdies that have come out of the

:16:41. > :16:44.bunker. A couple of birdies on the green, but not too many, you're

:16:45. > :16:52.right. Just off the green here, Justin Rose. He and Stenson locked

:16:53. > :16:56.at 15-under par and he's opting to keep the flag in. He can take it out

:16:57. > :17:27.if he wants, but he wants it in. Rose for birdie on 17. It started to

:17:28. > :17:43.move. It was a double swing, left then right. But that is a safe par.

:17:44. > :17:51.He will have to mark it. ORE ODUBA: Justin Rose will be

:17:52. > :17:56.putting the par. He has tied at the moment. Henrik Stenson putting

:17:57. > :18:02.shortly. The conclusion of the golf will take place on BBC One. If you

:18:03. > :18:11.want to see whether Justin Rose can get the Gold Medal, join the team on

:18:12. > :18:14.BBC One I am here on Copacabana beach looking forward to the next

:18:15. > :18:18.few hours on BBC Four. Before we get into what is to come, here is what

:18:19. > :18:23.has happened so far with some of the headlines.

:18:24. > :18:29.History for Max Whitlock as he begins Britain's first Levick

:18:30. > :18:33.champion in gymnastics after winning gold in the men's four final.

:18:34. > :18:41.Amazing scenes as Brazilian gymnasts take silver and bronze. Two-time

:18:42. > :18:48.world champion Nick Dempsey celebrates his 36th birthday by

:18:49. > :18:59.becoming the first male windsurfer to win silver. Jemima some gong

:19:00. > :19:08.became the first Kenyan woman to win the Olympic marathon.

:19:09. > :19:27.Over two gymnastics we go, the women's individual vault.

:19:28. > :19:46.Just a 0.3 for the large step on landing. Just joining Dipa Karmakar.

:19:47. > :19:53.This vault is going to be something special. One of the hardest bolts

:19:54. > :19:59.that a female gymnast can produce. It is known, brace yourselves, as

:20:00. > :20:05.the vault of death. Slightly overdramatic, I think, don't you?

:20:06. > :20:11.You wouldn't catch me on it. She is posting a seven difficulty. We have

:20:12. > :20:15.seen one gymnast performed the same manoeuvre in this final and over

:20:16. > :20:23.rotate it. Let's see how she can get on with it. Big powerful run, it

:20:24. > :20:30.uses the handspring entry and lands on her feet. They have to decide

:20:31. > :20:35.whether her feet landed first. It is a big deduction for such a deep

:20:36. > :20:39.landing. Once the knees bent lower than 90 degrees, the judges start

:20:40. > :20:47.deducting. Very ambitious. She blocked well, she talked. Paul is

:20:48. > :20:55.the knees apart. Feet do get down first, but bounces immediately up.

:20:56. > :21:01.Polls that took in tight. Feet, hips. Only just. Very close. And if

:21:02. > :21:13.the hips landed first, it would be zero. You are dicing with scoring

:21:14. > :21:21.zero. Interestingly, in this final, a lot are performing their huge

:21:22. > :21:27.difficulty as the second vault. Particularly with this format, they

:21:28. > :21:34.use a slightly easier first vault to get the feel of the board and

:21:35. > :21:41.everything sorted. Wang Yan, currently in second place. 14.9 is

:21:42. > :21:44.the sport you are looking for at the top of the scoreboard as it appears

:21:45. > :22:01.on your screen. The average of the two vaults. Two gymnasts still to

:22:02. > :22:05.go. Our slow motion made it look like the feet went down first, but

:22:06. > :22:12.they are having to think long and hard about it. This mat, we were

:22:13. > :22:19.talking earlier about how squashy it is and how tricky it is to get a

:22:20. > :22:23.solid landing. You have to be very spatially aware and know exactly

:22:24. > :22:30.where the landing is. With the mat being slightly soft, they have two

:22:31. > :22:40.really take that impact. The result is in. It is a big score.

:22:41. > :22:57.The average score puts her into second place at the moment. Maria

:22:58. > :23:00.Paseka, the penultimate gymnast in this women's vault final. World

:23:01. > :23:12.champion last year. The European champion. She is posting a

:23:13. > :23:17.difficulty of 6.4. She only voted for the Russian team here. She

:23:18. > :23:22.stacked the landing, but the legs were wild off the top of the

:23:23. > :23:28.platform. She looks a bit stunned by it all. Twisted efficiently, had

:23:29. > :23:29.enough flight, but there will be deductions for that untidy leg

:23:30. > :23:45.separation in the flight. You could see those legs were split

:23:46. > :23:50.on the top and she had to use that to initiate the turn. The floor hit

:23:51. > :23:56.her, rather than her hitting that landing. You can see she is a

:23:57. > :24:07.slightly off landing and was that first fought just out? You cannot

:24:08. > :24:16.see from that angle. -- first foot. She probably will get a deduction

:24:17. > :24:30.therefore one fought out. -- one foot out. Well, foot scores 15.266

:24:31. > :24:36.for her first vault -- Maria Paseka scores.

:24:37. > :24:48.Second vault, this one a 6.3 difficulty. This is her favourite

:24:49. > :24:56.vault, they want she did 4-team final. A deep landing and a step

:24:57. > :25:00.back, indicating she was a bit short of height and rotation. She has done

:25:01. > :25:05.her job for Russia. She doesn't look too happy at all with that

:25:06. > :25:11.performance. Whether it is down to the vault or whether she is

:25:12. > :25:15.injured... She seemed to be hobbling slightly on her way back from the

:25:16. > :25:23.first vault. It took her by surprise. I think so, and she hasn't

:25:24. > :25:28.done masses of work out here. She has only vaulted and looks like she

:25:29. > :25:34.is a little delicate. You can see here, the legs are split on the top

:25:35. > :25:40.and then just her hips behind her feet, so she has to take the large

:25:41. > :25:50.step backwards to cover. But still a huge difficulty on that vault. Legs

:25:51. > :26:02.locked together throughout. And then just a step back.

:26:03. > :26:12.The smile comes now. All smiles now, she is in the lead. Maria Paseka

:26:13. > :26:24.guaranteed a silver with just one gymnast to go, and Giulia

:26:25. > :26:31.Steingruber is guaranteed a bronze. Karmakar will be pushed out of the

:26:32. > :26:34.medals, we think because we have Simone Biles now. She is hoping for

:26:35. > :26:40.five gold medals at the Olympic championship finals. She is very

:26:41. > :26:45.much on course and this is one of her favourite events. We could

:26:46. > :26:50.potentially see a perfect ten for execution.

:26:51. > :26:58.I think she went for that landing and took a hop back. She looks

:26:59. > :27:05.disappointed. Most gymnasts would celebrate with that huge vault. She

:27:06. > :27:11.pushed so high and delayed the twist so long, didn't she. She really

:27:12. > :27:17.contacts the platform well. The hips, she blocks, she goes up, up,,

:27:18. > :27:23.waits for the at the top. She almost went for so much height that she

:27:24. > :27:27.lacked a bit of rotation. Fantastic vaulting. Everything is textbook.

:27:28. > :27:32.The legs are locked together, the I'm positioning, the block at the

:27:33. > :27:40.top, then round off, not a lot to deduct. The only deduction will be

:27:41. > :27:44.that small hop on the landing. Matt was saying that one day we might see

:27:45. > :27:54.the perfect ten. She will be up in the nines for execution here. She

:27:55. > :28:06.is. 9.6 for execution and a 6.34 difficulty. -- 6.3 the difficulty.

:28:07. > :28:18.All-around champion here. The small hop, I think you just witnessed a

:28:19. > :28:24.third Olympic gold medal for Simone Biles. She knew she had to up her

:28:25. > :28:30.vault to be sure of the gold medal and she did it with ease. As smooth

:28:31. > :28:39.as you like. Being congratulated even before the score has come in.

:28:40. > :28:47.She qualified through with a 16.05 and first place at the moment is

:28:48. > :29:03.15.2 five. We can safely say she is Olympic champion. -- 15.20 five.

:29:04. > :29:12.I don't think Maria Paseka would have come here thinking to get gold.

:29:13. > :29:16.No, it would be Simone Biles. The trademarked lock up into the air

:29:17. > :29:23.before she starts twisting. It is the gymnast that twist early off the

:29:24. > :29:26.top that have problems. She has been threatening for the last two years

:29:27. > :29:30.to be able to come here and dominate and she doesn't look like she will

:29:31. > :29:47.falter at the final step. The score is in. 15.966 as an

:29:48. > :30:00.average. That second vault was a score of 16.0 33. -- 16.0 33. The

:30:01. > :30:01.bar finalists will be glad she's not in the final. One medal we can

:30:02. > :30:12.contest. Just a dream to at and a joy to

:30:13. > :30:22.watch. She makes it look so effortless! Which is the mark of a

:30:23. > :30:34.great gymnast. Giulia Steingruber, 14.9! I'd save those were first

:30:35. > :30:39.three vaulters other than the one from the gymnast from Korea who beat

:30:40. > :30:44.herself by not doing the vaults she was sure about. Those were the three

:30:45. > :30:50.vaulters you'd expect to be a finalist. Amongst great company as

:30:51. > :30:57.well, it was a great moment for Oksana Chusovitina. She competed for

:30:58. > :31:04.three different countries now. Olympic champion and vault is Simone

:31:05. > :31:12.Biles. Maria Paseka, who took bronze in London, goes one better and takes

:31:13. > :31:13.silver. Giulia Steingruber, three times European champion, takes the

:31:14. > :31:31.bronze. What an Olympics it has been for

:31:32. > :31:37.Simone Biles. A third gold medal in the women's vault. The men's pommel

:31:38. > :31:43.final featuring Louis Smith and Max Whitlock will take place in ten

:31:44. > :31:47.minutes. That will be on BBC One. It's time to head to the Olympic

:31:48. > :31:52.Tennis Centre, though, because we are in the closing stages of the

:31:53. > :31:58.mixed doubles final and it is an all-American affair. There is a

:31:59. > :32:02.tie-break at the end of the first set against Venus Williams, who of

:32:03. > :32:06.course got knocked out of the singles but is looking for a fifth

:32:07. > :32:07.Olympic gold, she is alongside Rajeev Ram, let's pick up the

:32:08. > :32:58.action. Out, only just. No harm in trying,

:32:59. > :33:02.that his fish roe. This match nearing 50 minutes induration. The

:33:03. > :33:11.first set tie-break, that is now under way. Lots of discussions at

:33:12. > :33:21.the back of the court from all four players. Will they change something

:33:22. > :33:35.up? Will they try a surprise? Or just a big serve? Challenging now.

:33:36. > :33:53.They don't challenge very often. It was a good decision!

:33:54. > :34:01.Good second serve, Mattek-Sands could've done more with the first

:34:02. > :34:10.ball. Great tennis between these four. Surprise in this situation

:34:11. > :34:12.that Ram is trying to hit at Mattek-Sands, instead of going Sock.

:34:13. > :34:35.Ambitious effort. It's been so good throughout, and it

:34:36. > :34:43.continues here. Bethanie Mattek-Sands is taking it to her

:34:44. > :34:50.more highly ranked opponents. There is a tendency to look for an

:34:51. > :34:57.underdog. The team you'd go for. It is difficult with an all-American

:34:58. > :35:00.affair. Bethanie Mattek-Sands, that is the go to position, and she's

:35:01. > :35:28.loving it. There has to be good chemistry

:35:29. > :35:34.between the players. So that the other player says, don't worry about

:35:35. > :35:36.it. Because you don't want that player to tense up the air and

:35:37. > :35:53.affect them even more. Nice. Nicely close-down indeed by

:35:54. > :36:00.Ram. He has had chances to put balls away. He shifted his footwork in

:36:01. > :36:09.time. He didn't try to get a big cut at the ball. He got his body out of

:36:10. > :36:11.the way. What is this set going to turn on? Is at one point in

:36:12. > :36:29.particular? It might be this one. Oh, Mattek-Sands again! Brilliant

:36:30. > :36:37.from the 31-year-old from Phoenix. She is really turning it on here.

:36:38. > :36:44.Yes, he did nothing wrong. You'd think he is in the position he needs

:36:45. > :36:49.to be. He's expecting the ball to go the other way, as you normally

:36:50. > :36:54.would. But there was just that small space there and Mattek-Sands took

:36:55. > :37:00.it. Again, the poker face. They change ends.

:37:01. > :37:06.It says on her Twitter handle that she likes slow walks and fast cars,

:37:07. > :37:41.Mattek-Sands. Venus gets involved. Often things

:37:42. > :38:32.can happen. Oh, great stretch from both men and

:38:33. > :38:38.Williams to stay on the point. That's the one were talking about,

:38:39. > :38:43.5-3. Huge point. Look at that instinctive volley from Ram. A

:38:44. > :38:45.pick-up on a half volley, and Sock with a golden chance to put the ball

:38:46. > :39:17.away. Oh, she made that known. She did

:39:18. > :39:23.make it! No, she didn't. I thought I heard the no call. She keeps going

:39:24. > :39:32.for it. 6- through all of a sudden but going down swinging. Just the

:39:33. > :39:37.one mini break. Throughout the set, Mattek-Sands, she goes for those

:39:38. > :39:39.shots. But there's long points can make the difference, the momentum

:39:40. > :40:00.changes. Three set points. There it is, the first set goes the

:40:01. > :40:05.way of Williams and Ram in a tie-break. 7-3. Great tennis from

:40:06. > :40:54.both of these teams, but only one has number one hand on the gold.

:40:55. > :41:11.Mattek-Sands and Sock will want to improve their first serve

:41:12. > :41:17.percentage. Best player overall was Venus Williams, you'd say.

:41:18. > :41:21.Especially at the tail end of the tie-break. Rock-solid. Her team is

:41:22. > :42:44.up one set. Tennis matches can often turn on

:42:45. > :42:47.just one point. And it was when Ram and Williams were stretched by

:42:48. > :42:53.Mattek-Sands and Sock, they came at them and were able to keep the ball

:42:54. > :42:56.in play, force Sock to play one more ball, he put it into the net, and

:42:57. > :43:08.they didn't look back to win the tie-break. Ram and Williams 7-3 and

:43:09. > :43:36.lead 1- set in the mixed doubles 2016.

:43:37. > :43:48.Sock kidding around though, saying challenge.

:43:49. > :43:57.You don't kid a kid. Venus Williams just hammering it back. She is

:43:58. > :44:02.playing well, you are so right. Both girls are playing exceptionally

:44:03. > :44:09.well. I love Jack Sock, the back story behind him, he's a colourful

:44:10. > :44:14.character, like his playing partner, Lady Gaga. Jack Sock for President

:44:15. > :44:33.campaign began this year. Not leader of the free world,

:44:34. > :44:37.although there is an argument as to whether Jack would be better than

:44:38. > :44:43.Donald Trump, but Jack Sock for President 2016 was to build support

:44:44. > :44:50.for him to be here at the 2016 Olympic Games. He got plenty of

:44:51. > :45:10.support. He is here because he is a very good young talent.

:45:11. > :45:18.There is some fabulous tennis being played on this centre court.

:45:19. > :45:25.Fabulous. Venus couldn't react in time.

:45:26. > :45:32.An instinctive volley from Mattek-Sands. That's what doubles is

:45:33. > :45:54.all about. That was called out. Mattek-Sands

:45:55. > :46:04.again. There is a challenge. She was out of that point, beaten three

:46:05. > :46:11.times. We said she doesn't challenge if ever, she had a good look at

:46:12. > :46:22.that. Fine time to challenge, keeps them in the game.

:46:23. > :46:35.Took a lot of deciding, that. Another story I love about Jack

:46:36. > :46:42.Sock, Leyton Hewitt involved, who may be back in Australia watching

:46:43. > :47:01.this right now. It eventually goes the way of Jack and Bethanie.

:47:02. > :47:08.I can tell you now. He was serving to stay in the first set at 30-0.

:47:09. > :47:12.The ball was caught out by the chair umpire. Before Leyton Hewitt said

:47:13. > :47:17.the game, Jack said, I think you should challenge that. After the

:47:18. > :47:22.review, the server was found to be in, giving Leyton the point and he

:47:23. > :47:30.went on to win the match. How about that? When your opponent says, I

:47:31. > :47:34.think you should challenge it. Not sure he would have done that at a

:47:35. > :47:43.regular to match. Good point, but I still love the sportsmanship.

:47:44. > :47:55.Oh! She was in such good position there, Venus, to hit the volley. You

:47:56. > :48:30.need a bit of luck. Didn't catch the ball cleanly, Sock,

:48:31. > :48:37.but it turned out to be a good shot. Not much Williams could do. It was

:48:38. > :48:48.such a well struck forehand from Sock.

:48:49. > :48:56.Ram and Williams, you could call them a makeshift combination. Ram

:48:57. > :49:20.wasn't even supposed to be part of the team.

:49:21. > :49:30.To go from not meaning to be in the Olympics to maybe getting a gold

:49:31. > :49:34.medal, Ram. Hasn't done a whole lot wrong in this match, Venus Williams.

:49:35. > :49:46.Unable to connect with a smash their, and so they take the break

:49:47. > :49:58.lead in that number to -- set number two.

:49:59. > :50:14.It is an interesting mindset, like so many athletes in so many sports,

:50:15. > :50:18.including tennis, this could be their main aim, to win an Olympic

:50:19. > :50:21.gold, absolutely, but also an Olympic medal depending on who you

:50:22. > :50:25.are and where you come from. You are in this game, you have the silver in

:50:26. > :50:29.the bike, it is just whether you give it to your opponent and swap it

:50:30. > :50:36.for a gold already you keep it there. It is not like it is a

:50:37. > :50:40.regular tour event. If you go into a final in a tour event, you are not

:50:41. > :50:44.playing fair any hardware. If you lose the match, you don't get any

:50:45. > :50:48.hardware. In this situation, even if you lose, you come out with a silver

:50:49. > :50:53.medal. That may release the pressure on some players. They go when

:50:54. > :50:55.thinking, OK, even if I don't come out on top, I still get the silver

:50:56. > :51:05.medal. These two have been having fun at

:51:06. > :51:15.the entire week, Sock and Mattek-Sands. They beat Konta and

:51:16. > :51:25.Jamie Murray in the first round. The Brazilians in the quarterfinal,

:51:26. > :51:31.a couple of breaks opened the match on either side. They also trailed

:51:32. > :51:39.4-1 in the second. Mattek-Sands was saying it was a raucous atmosphere

:51:40. > :51:47.playing the home team. Great doubles players. 6-4, 7-6.

:51:48. > :52:45.The key shot there was for venous racing up whilst keeping the point

:52:46. > :53:30.going. -- Venus. She has done it again. She loves

:53:31. > :53:37.that line. She is a shotmaker, Bethanie Mattek-Sands. The textbooks

:53:38. > :53:43.plate would be to go right down the middle between the players, but no,

:53:44. > :54:00.she sent it up the line. -- textbook play.

:54:01. > :54:12.Double faults never really in the script for players, but especially

:54:13. > :54:40.not on a game point. Three double faults.

:54:41. > :54:49.She saw it straightaway. His body was ready to cross, his racket was

:54:50. > :55:26.not. Not sure whether Ram knew about that or not.

:55:27. > :55:33.Oh, lovely. Pulled away from a high ball but was put out there to test

:55:34. > :55:36.Mattek-Sands. She was right up to the challenge, as she was all the

:55:37. > :55:54.way through. Back to deuce. Wasn't enough depth on the lob. This

:55:55. > :56:16.could be a gold medal moment in the match.

:56:17. > :56:23.Separated Mattek-Sands and Sock writes down the middle. Sock

:56:24. > :56:26.appeared closer than Mattek-Sands. But because it was such a good shot,

:56:27. > :56:45.that is what happens. Oh, great finish from Jack Sock.

:56:46. > :56:49.Great play from both these Americans. Mattek-Sands on the

:56:50. > :57:01.defence. She thought she might have had the winner there and then Jack

:57:02. > :57:08.goes back. A bigger wingspan, the team of Venus and Ram haven't picked

:57:09. > :57:31.up a lot of balls. 91 centimetres, or six foot three.

:57:32. > :57:44.Lost the first set in a tie-break. That is called out and a 2-0 lead

:57:45. > :57:46.becomes a three in the second set. The combination of Bethanie

:57:47. > :57:49.Mattek-Sands and Jack Sock in this gold medal Mixed Doubles match of

:57:50. > :58:00.Rio 2016. That game ended just a few minutes

:58:01. > :58:03.ago. If you want to follow live tennis in the Mixed Doubles finals,

:58:04. > :58:07.you can on the Red Button. If you don't have a Red Button, go to the

:58:08. > :58:14.BBC website for the BBC sport app to follow that. We will bring you

:58:15. > :58:21.up-to-date with its later on. Andy Murray is on court in this match in

:58:22. > :58:26.the final. The sun is just heading towards the horizon here on

:58:27. > :58:28.Copacabana beach, so it is an appropriate time to bring you

:58:29. > :58:36.up-to-date with all today's headlines. Justin Rose is the

:58:37. > :58:42.Olympic golf champion after a tremendous battle with Henrik

:58:43. > :58:49.Stenson. Rosa birdied the 18th hole and celebrated in style. -- Justin

:58:50. > :58:52.Rose birdied. History for Max Whitlock as he becomes Britain's

:58:53. > :58:55.first Olympic champion in gymnastics after winning gold in the men's

:58:56. > :59:03.floor vinyl. Amazing scenes as Brazilian gymnasts take silver and

:59:04. > :59:10.bronze. And American star gymnast Simone Biles won a third gold medal

:59:11. > :59:18.of the games. She also won the team and individual all-round events.

:59:19. > :59:22.Two-time world champion Nick Dempsey celebrated his 36th birthday

:59:23. > :59:25.yesterday and became the first male WinServer to win three Olympic

:59:26. > :59:33.medals after silver in the final medal race earlier today. -- wind

:59:34. > :59:43.surfer. And the first Kenyan woman to win the Olympic marathon.

:59:44. > :59:50.A reminder that on BBC One at the moment, live for you, the men's

:59:51. > :59:57.pommel final. Louis Smith and Max Whitlock are for Great Britain. Time

:59:58. > :00:03.to concentrate on cycling and four Mark Cavendish, this is a very

:00:04. > :00:07.important Games. He won 30 stages at the Tour de France, but he struggles

:00:08. > :00:09.in the Olympics. In Beijing, no medals, and none in London. Third

:00:10. > :00:30.time lucky? So, Mark, another Olympic Games, how

:00:31. > :00:34.are you feeling going into Rio? Yeah, I'm excited about it, we've

:00:35. > :00:38.got a great group around us, all the teams, the women and the men, the

:00:39. > :00:41.sprint, every aspect, I know the times are good on the track, the

:00:42. > :00:47.team have just smashed the Tour de France on the road, so a pretty

:00:48. > :00:50.exciting time to be on the bicycle. How much confidence after such a

:00:51. > :00:54.successful tour, having done things you have never done before, warned

:00:55. > :01:01.the yellow jersey? I made every day count this year, because I knew my

:01:02. > :01:05.morale would be picked up, I know it has worked out, everything I have

:01:06. > :01:09.done has worked, if I can just quickly transition over to the

:01:10. > :01:14.track, OK, I am on a bike, but people don't realise how hard it is

:01:15. > :01:18.to go from road to track. It is like a Formula One driver going to a

:01:19. > :01:23.rally cross race, like, he is going to do well, but striving is not the

:01:24. > :01:27.same, it is the same like this. My form is there, but it is about

:01:28. > :01:33.transitioning, and if I can do that quickly, I have got a better chance.

:01:34. > :01:38.World champion, 30 stages in the tour, where does the Olympics it? It

:01:39. > :01:43.is that little one thing that I have not done. Within my physicality, I

:01:44. > :01:47.have done everything I can accept when the Olympic Games, you know. It

:01:48. > :01:51.is not going to define my career, do you know what I mean? As a British

:01:52. > :01:55.athlete it is likely to define my career, and it is the same on a

:01:56. > :01:59.personal level. I am incredibly patriotic, I am proud every time I

:02:00. > :02:02.wear the jersey and the like, and the Olympics is the highest thing

:02:03. > :02:11.you can do that at, so one a personal level, as a British sports

:02:12. > :02:14.person, it is a big thing. You went to Beijing, the Madison did not come

:02:15. > :02:19.off, you were the one to watch in the road race in 2012. The positives

:02:20. > :02:23.that I can take from that, I set a date I wanted to be in the best

:02:24. > :02:27.condition, and both times I was in the best condition I possibly could

:02:28. > :02:31.be, and I believed I was one of the strongest in the race, if not the

:02:32. > :02:35.strongest. Even though the results did not speak, I knew we didn't

:02:36. > :02:40.write both times. We made every single day count this year, so we

:02:41. > :02:46.are on the best run possible for those days. So the omnium for the

:02:47. > :02:52.first time, it is like the decathlon on the track, where do you think you

:02:53. > :02:55.are in that to my I am confident for it, I have done everything I can, I

:02:56. > :02:59.have worked on the events I am weaker at, I am pretty confident

:03:00. > :03:07.with the equipment, with the training, and with my form now that

:03:08. > :03:12.I will be in with a medal shout. Well, we can head to the Olympic

:03:13. > :03:17.Velodrome now, where Jill Douglas is standing by, and obviously a lot of

:03:18. > :03:20.attention on Mark Cavendish, no-one deserves anything by right, but I

:03:21. > :03:25.guess in other ways, given what he has given to the sport, he does

:03:26. > :03:30.deserve something at the Olympics. Nobody gives you an Olympic medal,

:03:31. > :03:35.but Mark Cavendish has worked very hard even to make the Rio Games, he

:03:36. > :03:39.has had to really commit to the track, and we saw him in action in

:03:40. > :03:44.the tour, where he has won 30 tracks, but he pulled out early to

:03:45. > :03:48.really focus on the track. Actually, some would say that is road cycling

:03:49. > :03:53.has benefited from the track were key has been doing, he is super

:03:54. > :03:58.quick on the road, we saw that in France, but he has made the

:03:59. > :04:02.challenge, it is a big challenge for him, he is in a classy field of

:04:03. > :04:07.riders, so nothing is a given, but he has left no stone and turned, he

:04:08. > :04:13.has worked hard to beat year, and I saw him on the track having a warm

:04:14. > :04:16.up, he looks in great shape. -- be here.

:04:17. > :04:21.Given the fact that Beijing and London did not go his way, is there

:04:22. > :04:26.any chance are perhaps a mental block of this being the Olympics? Or

:04:27. > :04:30.has he dismissed that already? Mark Cavendish is the consummate

:04:31. > :04:35.professional, this is a guy who has won stages of the two to France, the

:04:36. > :04:40.Giro d'Italia, he performs when he needs to, he is three times a world

:04:41. > :04:43.champion on the track through the madison, so I do not think he will

:04:44. > :04:48.be phased at all. He will not be thinking about Beijing or London,

:04:49. > :04:52.all he will be thinking about is Rio and putting out his best

:04:53. > :04:58.performance. His wife is here, the kids are here, and he will embrace

:04:59. > :05:03.this. What is the timetable today? Three events today, first in the

:05:04. > :05:08.scratch race, a bunch race basically off you go, first past the post

:05:09. > :05:13.wins, then the Furk alum and individual pursuit, not one of his

:05:14. > :05:19.strongest, then the elimination race. -- the four kilometre

:05:20. > :05:24.individual pursuit. They race around the track, and the person last over

:05:25. > :05:28.the line is out of the race. I think he is very strong in these bunch

:05:29. > :05:33.races, a very savvy racer, and he has worked very hard on the timed

:05:34. > :05:38.events to see if he can get improvements there as well. We are

:05:39. > :05:41.keeping our fingers crossed for Mark Cavendish, a word on Becky James,

:05:42. > :05:46.who has already dazzled this weekend. After all the excitement

:05:47. > :05:51.job yesterday, she is back on the track for the first stage of the

:05:52. > :05:56.women's sprint competition, they do a flying 200 which is a way of

:05:57. > :06:02.ceding the competition. She will have rested after what was an

:06:03. > :06:07.emotional day yesterday. The Olympic final, and what a

:06:08. > :06:13.line-up we have got. It has been a long road back for Becky James, but

:06:14. > :06:17.now she gets her chance. She can end up on the podium, any result is

:06:18. > :06:29.possible for her. Becky James is fourth in line. The race is on now.

:06:30. > :06:36.Right at the back is Becky James, she has plenty to do here. Becky

:06:37. > :06:41.James goes around the outside! And up towards the line, and I think

:06:42. > :06:45.Elis Ligtlee took it, but there is a medal for Becky James, and I think

:06:46. > :06:51.it is silver. Many congratulations, just what does

:06:52. > :06:54.that mean? Oh, I am lost for words, I do not think I have ever been lost

:06:55. > :06:59.for words, I cannot believe that has just happened. I was so desperate

:07:00. > :07:05.for that medal, and having George Clancy and my little sister, the

:07:06. > :07:11.medal we have all won together. -- having George here.

:07:12. > :07:17.Looking forward to seeing Becky James back in action, but a quick

:07:18. > :07:21.word on how qualification works? So basically they do a flying 200, that

:07:22. > :07:25.ranks them for the rest of the competition. Later today we will

:07:26. > :07:29.have the first round of the sprint, then it progresses through tomorrow,

:07:30. > :07:33.and the final is on the last day of competition on the track. Katie

:07:34. > :07:40.Marchand is also performing today, we will see her in action for Great

:07:41. > :07:44.Britain too. Thanks very much, we are looking forward to seeing what

:07:45. > :07:50.will happen at the velodrome. Standing by for us, Chris Boardman

:07:51. > :07:55.and Simon Brotherton. Hello, and welcome to live coverage

:07:56. > :07:59.from the track as Ebtissam Mohamed from Egypt crosses the line, her

:08:00. > :08:08.time is well short of the early pace here. The Chinese cyclist, who was

:08:09. > :08:12.already won a gold medal and set a record in the team sprint earlier,

:08:13. > :08:19.she was one of the early starters in terms of setting a qualifying time,

:08:20. > :08:29.and she has set the time to beat, 11.068 seconds. This rider is

:08:30. > :08:34.Lisandra Guerra, a world champion back from Manchester, a five-time

:08:35. > :08:38.world medallist, and a former Pan-American games sprint champion

:08:39. > :08:43.as well. As Jill was saying, the idea for the riders is to set a

:08:44. > :08:49.time, a flying time of 200 metres, which sets the seeding order for the

:08:50. > :08:53.rest of the competition, so important to get out of the blocks

:08:54. > :09:00.early and set a time to make life easier for oil cell. That is what we

:09:01. > :09:07.have seen in the men's competition, the British men's team got the

:09:08. > :09:14.easiest, they did not meet until the final, it could not have gone better

:09:15. > :09:25.for Britain. Lisandra Guerra is second fastest,. We do see quite a

:09:26. > :09:31.spread of abilities at the Olympic Games, but we do have the best

:09:32. > :09:39.riders here, so we might see a spread, 12.9 is the slowest so far,

:09:40. > :09:45.but I think we will be seeing possibly world and certainly Olympic

:09:46. > :09:54.records going here. Roundabouts 10.6, Becky James hoping for 10.7

:09:55. > :09:57.here. This is Monique Sullivan from Canada, three gold medals from the

:09:58. > :10:07.Pan-American games last summer, she wrote in the team sprint, finished

:10:08. > :10:13.in seventh position. Very strong wind up, really driving early to get

:10:14. > :10:16.the most out of this. She is the seventh rider on the track, Becky

:10:17. > :10:23.James will be up next, but money Sullivan is halfway down the back

:10:24. > :10:26.straight, putting everything down on the track, trying to eat out every

:10:27. > :10:35.fraction of a second, second-fastest so far, still leading is the Chinese

:10:36. > :10:42.cyclist, and now it is Becky James up onto the track. This is the

:10:43. > :10:50.effort from money Sullivan once more. She slowly winds down. Now

:10:51. > :11:03.Becky James up on the track 24 hours after winning the silver medal in

:11:04. > :11:10.the keirin final, and she started sprint campaign. So looking for

:11:11. > :11:13.somewhere in the region of 10.7, the rumour from the training camp is

:11:14. > :11:18.that she is well capable of that, and that is what it will take to

:11:19. > :11:27.qualify well in this event. Feel a big record is 10.724, set by

:11:28. > :11:32.Victoria Pendleton in London four years ago. She will really start to

:11:33. > :11:36.wind it up now, get on top of that year, and she will be flying around

:11:37. > :11:43.the track, the timer will start as she goes over the white line, Becky

:11:44. > :11:46.James' qualifying ride is on, down the back straight, powering around

:11:47. > :11:52.the track into the banking, now into the finishing straight, up towards

:11:53. > :11:59.the line, 10.7 to one, a new Olympic record! Becky James stars in style

:12:00. > :12:03.in the women's sprint. We thought that is what she would do, there

:12:04. > :12:08.were rumours coming from the camp that she was on an emotional high

:12:09. > :12:12.after that silver yesterday as well, nothing to lose. Great wind up as

:12:13. > :12:18.well, really at the top of the track, excellent execution. That

:12:19. > :12:22.ride from Becky James really brought the crowd to lie for the first time

:12:23. > :12:36.this afternoon, this is the opening event. -- to life. Now up for Spain

:12:37. > :12:41.is Helena Casas from Catalunya, finished eighth in the team sprint

:12:42. > :12:46.with Tanya Calvo, who we will see a little later in this qualifying

:12:47. > :12:53.process. Becky James is top of the leaderboard for Great Britain. She

:12:54. > :12:58.was only eight out of 27 because she has not got many UCI points, but

:12:59. > :13:03.that does not mean the form is not there, so the time could stand for

:13:04. > :13:07.some considerable time through this qualification. I do not think this

:13:08. > :15:03.will be quicker, nearly a full second behind.

:15:04. > :15:07.RICHEY: Katie Marchand still to come a little bit later, we're heading

:15:08. > :15:11.back to the Olympic Tennis Centre for the mixed doubles final, Venus

:15:12. > :15:17.Williams and Rajeev Ram won the first set, Jack Sock and Bethanie

:15:18. > :15:34.Mattek-Sands to the second, so we are into a super set tie-break.

:15:35. > :15:53.They are plus seven in the winners unenforced in the second set. Just

:15:54. > :15:58.five unforced errors. She has brought this into that tie-break,

:15:59. > :16:39.Mattek-Sands. Straight back at you. From Jack

:16:40. > :16:40.Sock. It had to be that good because the net coverage from Venus was

:16:41. > :17:02.excellent. Well, that has taken no time at all.

:17:03. > :17:08.They are going to have to channel some of their form from the

:17:09. > :17:12.semifinals, when they were down 3-1 in the tie-break and Venus and Ram

:17:13. > :17:32.went on a tear. That's the advantage, the advantage

:17:33. > :17:37.of the match tie-break not playing to seven points, but to ten. More

:17:38. > :17:57.time to get back into the match, even with a deficit.

:17:58. > :18:06.Too much on that, to defences. She hasn't been like that through any

:18:07. > :18:16.stage of this game, neither of those two have -- too defensive. Surprised

:18:17. > :18:20.she has tried that shot, Mattek-Sands, she has tried one lob

:18:21. > :18:28.in the match. A clean winner. Williams and Ram at the back of the

:18:29. > :18:54.court. Not now, though. She has been able to find that line

:18:55. > :19:00.throughout the match. Smart play from Ram, he covered it this time

:19:01. > :19:04.and that set up the point, 3-3. Quality tennis to decide the gold

:19:05. > :19:20.medal in the Mixed Doubles here in Rio. He did just enough with the

:19:21. > :19:25.smash, the smash gumball a, Ram. -- smash -cum-volley. Venus Williams

:19:26. > :19:31.looking to do what no one has done in tennis terms, and that is win

:19:32. > :19:50.five gold medals. Five Olympic cold calls -- titles.

:19:51. > :19:58.Not so solid all of a sudden, Mattek-Sands and Jack Sock. This is

:19:59. > :20:02.when the big-time players can come to the fore. She will be

:20:03. > :20:07.disappointed at missing that Borlee, Mattek-Sands, right on top of the

:20:08. > :20:20.net and a pretty decent height for her -- missing that Borlee.

:20:21. > :20:29.They were lucky there, Ram and Williams. He made an early move,

:20:30. > :20:34.Ram, and there was so much space just behind him. The return not

:20:35. > :20:44.clearing the net. They are on a run of points here now. Five in a row.

:20:45. > :20:50.Momentum shifts so quickly. Won the second set 6-1, they raced to a 3-0

:20:51. > :20:52.lead, Mattek-Sands and Sock and now they are on the end of a big Venus

:20:53. > :21:25.Williams serve, you would think. It was steep and set it up. Huge

:21:26. > :21:29.second serve from Williams. She should really be watching this. This

:21:30. > :21:36.is not a time to be sleeping. They are beyond halfway now, Ram and

:21:37. > :21:41.Williams, in the match tie-break. Difficult the Mattek-Sands -- for

:21:42. > :21:52.Mattek-Sands, the net cord. It is not really that your country

:21:53. > :22:01.needs you, your country will win gold either way, your team-mate

:22:02. > :22:03.does. There was plenty on that, look at that. A little bit of a kick up

:22:04. > :22:17.into the body of Venus. Has he got another one in him?

:22:18. > :22:19.UMPIRE: Let, first service. That plan might change now. Tactics are

:22:20. > :22:58.so important. Both teams touch base. She had to hold the fort of there,

:22:59. > :23:02.Mattek-Sands, and she did so after an unfortunate return, it turned

:23:03. > :23:08.into a great return. That was a chance missed for Ram and Williams.

:23:09. > :23:17.Powering forward, Jack Sock. Too much force in the end. Brilliant

:23:18. > :23:20.tennis. We say it a lot, they don't give away gold medals, they'll

:23:21. > :23:25.certainly not giving this one away. You have got to learn it. -- earn

:23:26. > :23:37.it. That can affect the server, a little

:23:38. > :23:57.pause, refresh and recharge. With the second serve, he was a

:23:58. > :24:03.sitting duck, Ram, for Jack Sock. Good point all around. It was a nice

:24:04. > :24:11.pick-up for Ram on a hot boy and he sent it deep. Sock with the top spin

:24:12. > :24:17.lob. 6-6 in the match tie-break. Here it is. Look at it drop.

:24:18. > :24:32.Perfect. Brilliant tennis from all four

:24:33. > :24:39.players on Centre Court. Nine days of tennis comes towards its

:24:40. > :24:45.conclusion. In the Games of the 31st Olympiad.

:24:46. > :25:01.Seemingly come anon of the four can get a first for anywhere near in --

:25:02. > :25:06.non-Opera pressure. -- pressure. You don't like to see that. It has

:25:07. > :25:17.caught the tape. 7-6 and the ball goes up the other end for Ram. A run

:25:18. > :25:21.of.in this tie-break, first three for Mattek-Sands and Sock and the

:25:22. > :25:27.next six for Williams and Ram. Now for in a row for the other team.

:25:28. > :25:33.Grade server and Jack is there to finish it, set up by the

:25:34. > :25:40.Mattek-Sands server. Remember, it is the first to ten. They can nearly

:25:41. > :25:41.touch it. What a great service, taking the ball away from the venous

:25:42. > :25:57.forehand. Magnificent! Venous tried to nail

:25:58. > :26:06.Bethanie Mattek-Sands and she was up to the charge and with that comes a

:26:07. > :26:13.gold medal point -- Venus Williams. She is loving this. Suggesting she

:26:14. > :26:23.is a bit fortunate the ball went over the net. Just self defence. She

:26:24. > :26:30.says, what have you got, Venus? Gold medal point, three of them.

:26:31. > :26:37.And that was out. Mattek-Sands throws her racket. They are going to

:26:38. > :26:42.challenge this. They have to challenge this. Yes, they are

:26:43. > :26:48.challenging. The gold medal might be decided by a challenge. There it is

:26:49. > :26:54.and it was long. It was long. More in hope than anything when you see

:26:55. > :26:58.how much it was long by. Mattek-Sands and Sock got so excited

:26:59. > :27:05.and you can't blame them. That plays with your mind, that is for sure.

:27:06. > :27:08.Still two gold medal points. And one will be on the serve of Mattek-Sands

:27:09. > :27:34.if they don't get this one. It is into the net! Socket to them.

:27:35. > :27:38.Proudly sporting the stars and stripes of the country, Jack Sock

:27:39. > :27:47.and Bethanie Mattek-Sands win gold for America. Mixed Doubles gold

:27:48. > :27:53.medal match, an all-American affair. It is gold and silver for the US of

:27:54. > :28:02.A, but what about the performance of Mattek-Sands and Jack Sock?

:28:03. > :28:06.Outstanding tennis. Well, well done to Mattek-Sands and Sock, gold-medal

:28:07. > :28:11.for them. Also a silver medal for America, they are celebrating

:28:12. > :28:15.success at the tennis. A reminder that Andy Murray is in action

:28:16. > :28:19.against Juan Martin Del Potro very shortly, we will be bringing you

:28:20. > :28:23.that action live. It has been a pretty good day for Great Britain so

:28:24. > :28:24.far, so it is time to catch up with what has been some tremendous

:28:25. > :28:34.headlines. There has been history today for Max

:28:35. > :28:39.Whitlock as he became Britain's first gold-medallist in Olympics

:28:40. > :28:42.gymnastics when winning the men's floor competition. Tremendous scenes

:28:43. > :28:47.as Brazil took silver and bronze. You have heard the one about buses?

:28:48. > :28:51.It applies to Olympic gymnasts as well because moments later, Whitlock

:28:52. > :28:56.won a second gold medal, this time on the pommel horse and Louis Smith

:28:57. > :29:05.took silver to add the cherry on top. Meanwhile, American's start

:29:06. > :29:11.gymnast Simone Biles won a third gold medal of the Rio Games. The

:29:12. > :29:17.19-year-old Texan also won gold in the individual and team all around

:29:18. > :29:19.competitions. Justine Rose is the Olympic gold champion after a

:29:20. > :29:25.tremendous tussle with Henrik Stenson. Rose, who has really

:29:26. > :29:34.embraced these Games, celebrated in style. Two time world champion Nick

:29:35. > :29:39.Dempsey, who turned 36 yesterday, became the first male windsurfer to

:29:40. > :29:48.win three Olympic medals after his silver in the final medal race

:29:49. > :29:53.earlier today. So, beautiful scenes here at the Copacabana Beach. Just a

:29:54. > :29:56.reminder once again, Andy Murray against Juan Martin Del Potro in the

:29:57. > :30:01.final of the Men's Singles in the tennis. Andy Murray hoping to defend

:30:02. > :30:05.the title he won in London in 2012. We will bring you that live, they

:30:06. > :30:09.are due on cord shortly. We are turning our attention to boxing and

:30:10. > :30:13.going for Great Britain later tonight is Savannah Marshall in the

:30:14. > :30:23.women's middleweight competition. Here is her story.

:30:24. > :30:30.When I was in school, I think I wanted to be a welder, I wanted to

:30:31. > :30:36.be a nurse, a teacher, everything you could think of apart from a

:30:37. > :30:41.boxer. I first started when I was 12, and it was just with friends,

:30:42. > :30:45.they were going to be boxing gym, and I went along. I was the only

:30:46. > :30:49.girl at the club for a good few years. It didn't bother me, I was

:30:50. > :30:55.comfortable training with all the boys. My mum and dad never said

:30:56. > :31:04.anything, my friends didn't say anything, it was all just accept it.

:31:05. > :31:14.Really. I love it, it is my gym, it is my home. There is no other place.

:31:15. > :31:17.It took me two years to get my first bout, I remember getting really

:31:18. > :31:25.nervous, and I would never tell anyone until a couple of days

:31:26. > :31:28.before, I am boxing in Birmingham in two days! I didn't want them going

:31:29. > :31:34.on about it so I would get more nervous.

:31:35. > :31:46.And she has done it, Savannah Marshall takes the gold. When I won

:31:47. > :31:52.the worlds, I thought, I am all right at this, I am good. The

:31:53. > :31:55.reigning World Championship gold medallist, Great Britain's Savannah

:31:56. > :32:03.Marshall! In the Olympics, ranked number one, favourite to win gold,

:32:04. > :32:10.it was all too much for me. I just remember thinking what the occasion

:32:11. > :32:14.was, everyone was talking about it, I think there was something like

:32:15. > :32:19.20,000 people in the arena, I have never boxed in front of that many

:32:20. > :32:24.people before, everyone had it set in stone that I was going to win

:32:25. > :32:27.gold. I only needed to win one fight to win bronze, and even winning

:32:28. > :32:34.bronze my life would have changed for ever, and that is all I have to

:32:35. > :32:40.do. All Ireland the thinking is, I want to go home, I just want to go

:32:41. > :32:44.home, and I was relieved that I have left it behind. -- all I remember

:32:45. > :32:48.thinking. It took me the best part of two years to get over it. After

:32:49. > :32:54.the Olympics, I wanted to get back into the ring to prove I was good

:32:55. > :33:04.enough. A lot of people have written me off, because I will go missing

:33:05. > :33:12.for a few months through injury. I had three injuries, and I am still

:33:13. > :33:19.here, still number one. One more chance, though, to go out and do it.

:33:20. > :33:24.Yes, Savannah Marshall, nicknamed the silent assassin, taking on Swede

:33:25. > :33:29.Laurell Nash, also a world champion, that comes up in about 45 minutes,

:33:30. > :33:33.and we will bring you that action on BBC Four, but we are looking forward

:33:34. > :33:38.to the Men's Singles tennis final between Andy Murray and Juan Martin

:33:39. > :33:47.del Potro, here is the Wimbledon champion talking to Dan Walker.

:33:48. > :33:53.It is a golden triumph for Andy Murray! For you personally, the

:33:54. > :33:57.Olympics is such an important part of your story, it set you up to

:33:58. > :34:04.achieve so many great things in the sport. And also Beijing was huge for

:34:05. > :34:07.me, I had an amazing experience, my first Olympics, but I learned so

:34:08. > :34:13.much from losing in the first round there. It hurt me a lot, I was

:34:14. > :34:22.gutted that I had to wait four years to get another chance, and I lost in

:34:23. > :34:28.the Wimbledon final in 2012. All right, I am going to try this

:34:29. > :34:34.and it is not going to be easy... I sort of said to myself after that,

:34:35. > :34:38.I may never win a Grand Slam, I have lost in four finals, I was working

:34:39. > :34:42.as hard as I could work, just getting close but never quite

:34:43. > :34:48.enough, so I didn't know if I was ever going to win one. When I

:34:49. > :34:52.accepted that, it helped me, and in terms of the tears after that match,

:34:53. > :34:56.I was very emotional, clearly, but that happens quite a lot, and

:34:57. > :35:01.normally you are doing it in the locker room, it doesn't happen, you

:35:02. > :35:06.know, when you have to speak... You can blame Sue Barker if you like!

:35:07. > :35:10.The Olympics were starting three weeks later, and it would have been

:35:11. > :35:14.easy to be down, but I remembered Beijing, I got back on the practice

:35:15. > :35:18.court, and after the Wimbledon final, I wanted to try and win the

:35:19. > :35:22.event, the biggest sporting competition in the world by far. I

:35:23. > :35:27.had played on Centre Court many times, the crowd that day was

:35:28. > :35:30.totally different, I never expected that, and obviously Roger Federer is

:35:31. > :35:36.extremely popular, and at Wimbledon, you know, the crowd was amazing and

:35:37. > :35:40.gave me a huge lift that day. I don't know if there is anything that

:35:41. > :35:45.could really top that, winning a gold medal at a home Olympics, but

:35:46. > :35:51.getting to carry the flag out for the country here, you know, it is

:35:52. > :35:55.pretty close. What have you made of the Brazilian experience so far? I

:35:56. > :35:59.have enjoyed it, the tennis venue is great, the village is good fun as

:36:00. > :36:05.well, sharing a room with my brother, which I haven't done for

:36:06. > :36:10.about 15 years! Is it bunks?! Two single beds, which is nice, totally

:36:11. > :36:13.different to what we are used to, tennis players are always pretty

:36:14. > :36:16.selfish, doing stuff on our own, whereas here you are part of

:36:17. > :36:22.something much bigger, part of the British team, and it is nice, I

:36:23. > :36:25.enjoy that. We got little bikes outside the thing, we have all been

:36:26. > :36:30.cycling around, racing each other around the village, seeing who can

:36:31. > :36:35.do the best skids and stuff. It is just nice. Some of the big boys are

:36:36. > :36:41.not here, but plenty of big names to keep the tennis fans entertained. It

:36:42. > :36:47.is unfortunate that Roger and Stan were both injured, if those two were

:36:48. > :36:51.here, all of the players who had won Grand Slams in the last ten years

:36:52. > :36:53.would be here. But lots of the top players are give us, I will try my

:36:54. > :37:10.best to have a good run. # Shoulder to shoulder, I know it

:37:11. > :37:14.could be easy, yeah... # What would the world be if we let

:37:15. > :37:20.it be just fine? # What would a smile be if not a

:37:21. > :37:24.tears sometimes? # Sister, sister, I know it could be

:37:25. > :37:34.easy, yeah # Now, keep your head up, talk to me

:37:35. > :37:38.# I know it could be easy, yeah # Brother, brother, I know it could

:37:39. > :37:40.be easy Lewes keep your head up, talk to me, I know it could be

:37:41. > :38:22.easy... # Well, in our studio at Copacabana,

:38:23. > :38:27.although we try to keep it pretty neutral, we have found five people

:38:28. > :38:32.who we cannot quite tell where they are from! James, you are the

:38:33. > :38:36.ringleader of this group, or looking magnificent, did you coordinate your

:38:37. > :38:41.outfits barely on? When did you start this? When we heard it was a

:38:42. > :38:46.Winter Olympics sorry, winter at the Olympics, we thought the 3-piece

:38:47. > :38:51.suit would come down quite well. The weather has not disappointed, we are

:38:52. > :38:57.freezing! Are you all from different parts of the UK? We all live in

:38:58. > :39:05.London currently. I am from Manchester. What have you seen so

:39:06. > :39:09.far? A lot! Hockey, volleyball, beach volleyball, Super Saturday,

:39:10. > :39:18.table tennis... Super Saturday was pretty super, one of you have got a

:39:19. > :39:25.selfie with Mo last night? Can I just ask how you said, Mo, can you

:39:26. > :39:32.come here? His daughter was pretty keen for us do have a photo, so she

:39:33. > :39:37.took the photo with us. His selfie taking skills are not quite as good!

:39:38. > :39:42.This was his daughter. Going in tight, Mo Farah has had a selfie

:39:43. > :39:48.with you guys, more than the other way around. There we are. That is

:39:49. > :39:54.tremendous. So that has got to be the highlight so far, right? Half of

:39:55. > :40:00.us only landed yesterday, we got here for the rowing and then Super

:40:01. > :40:06.Saturday, it was pretty intense. How long have you been here? A week and

:40:07. > :40:11.a half, it has been amazing, seen some amazing sport. One question

:40:12. > :40:16.about the outfits, lovely jackets, and you have got something and

:40:17. > :40:26.unease. I do not know how to ask this, can I touch it? That is

:40:27. > :40:30.tremendous! I have to say, that is the nicest... I wish I had a T-shirt

:40:31. > :40:37.on right now! That is tremendous, great outfit. I must say, are you

:40:38. > :40:40.going to the athletics tonight? Hundred metres tonight, the other

:40:41. > :40:49.British hopes, Murray is playing right now, that is where we are off

:40:50. > :40:54.to next. Sorry to keep you! Have you enjoyed the experience of Rio, just

:40:55. > :40:58.aside from the Olympics? Absolutely incredible. Such an amazing

:40:59. > :41:02.atmosphere, I had heard the locals were not getting into it, but we

:41:03. > :41:07.have been received incredibly well, wonderful time. It is great to meet

:41:08. > :41:14.you, enjoy tonight, you are getting the gold medal for outfits, no doubt

:41:15. > :41:17.about it, well done! That is it from the guys evolves, enjoy the rest of

:41:18. > :41:24.your Olympics. Well done on your marathon efforts, ten days already,

:41:25. > :41:28.that is wonderful. We are going to head over to the Olympic Tennis

:41:29. > :41:33.Centre a little bit later, Andy Murray against Juan Martin del Potro

:41:34. > :41:37.is coming up in a second. But just before that, this is the medal

:41:38. > :41:42.ceremony for the mixed doubles, Venus Williams once again out of

:41:43. > :41:47.luck, she was looking for a fifth Olympic gold medal, but she has won

:41:48. > :41:53.the silver medal, alongside Rajeev Ram. An all-American final, of

:41:54. > :41:55.course, and the winner was Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Jack Sock, they

:41:56. > :42:01.were the ones who came away victorious. This medal ceremony has

:42:02. > :42:08.just delayed Andy Murray and Juan Martin del Potro coming on court, so

:42:09. > :42:13.in the meantime, let's have a little visit with the former Olympian

:42:14. > :42:28.Darren Campbell do some of the favelas around Rio.

:42:29. > :42:39.Today I have come to a safe are in a further level. Welcome, this is 11

:42:40. > :42:46.different communities, and this one here, the kids that we work with,

:42:47. > :42:49.they are facing poverty, family breakdown, no job opportunities, so

:42:50. > :42:54.it is a very poor part of town and one of the most dangerous. This is

:42:55. > :42:57.an area that is pacified, which means there are police here, but

:42:58. > :43:06.they fight with the local drug traffickers. This is it, this is it,

:43:07. > :43:12.because you are on the hill, you can hear the gunfire. It is amazing,

:43:13. > :43:17.they can be playing when there is automatic gunfire. We needed a place

:43:18. > :43:21.where the police and the traffickers agreed not to fight, so we created

:43:22. > :43:30.this safe space for the kids to come and play football. So this is one of

:43:31. > :43:36.our coaches in the safe space programme. Have you seen a real

:43:37. > :43:41.change in the people who come here? They are more happy, they are not on

:43:42. > :43:45.the streets doing fights or something like that. The reality is

:43:46. > :43:48.that these are the brothers and sisters of the traffickers, the

:43:49. > :43:53.traffickers grow up in the community, so working with them is

:43:54. > :43:57.really important so that age 1314 they are not trafficking drugs, not

:43:58. > :44:06.picking up a gun. This is a special guest, his name is Darren Campbell.

:44:07. > :44:15.People told me that kids like me do not win Olympic gold medals, so for

:44:16. > :44:17.me to win the gold medal, yeah, it proved a lot of people wrong, and

:44:18. > :44:35.that is why I believe in these guys. Widely you enjoy coming here? -- why

:44:36. > :44:40.do you. TRANSLATION: It is a safe place to

:44:41. > :44:48.play, and it is near my house, and I can go home really quickly. Do you

:44:49. > :44:52.feel safe when you are here? How do these guys feel about the Olympics

:44:53. > :44:58.being just a there? TRANSLATION: I don't like the

:44:59. > :45:01.Olympics very much, because we are in the middle of a crisis, but I

:45:02. > :45:10.support the athletes because it is their dream. The judo player was

:45:11. > :45:14.happy, not just because she won, but because someone from the Cabella can

:45:15. > :45:19.represent Brazil. It is about the inspiration of sport

:45:20. > :45:25.for these kids, it gives them a goal, it gives them a dream.

:45:26. > :45:32.Sport really does have the power to change lives. You can see how this

:45:33. > :45:36.safe area does give kids the opportunity to feel part of

:45:37. > :45:40.something, respect something, -- expect something and feel the value

:45:41. > :45:43.that sports gives. For me, that is what Olympic legacy should be all

:45:44. > :45:47.about. It is fascinating learning something

:45:48. > :45:52.about life outside the main areas here in Rio, so I enjoy that from

:45:53. > :45:56.Darren Campbell. Earlier today, we saw Justine Rose add another gold

:45:57. > :46:02.medal to Great Britain's all. This was the winning pot on 18. It was

:46:03. > :46:07.all level between he and Henrik Stenson going down the 18th --

:46:08. > :46:13.winning pot. Henrik Stenson didn't play as well at 18 as many thought

:46:14. > :46:19.he would but Justine Rose's Berdych proved enough to give him the final.

:46:20. > :46:23.It was a tremendous tussle on the day, they shared the lead, Henrik

:46:24. > :46:28.Stenson took it briefly but in the end, on 18, it was Justin Rose that

:46:29. > :46:37.came away with a victory. Henrik Stenson takes the medal from

:46:38. > :46:42.Stenson. Matt Kuchar with the bronze on 13-under. Afterwards, Justin Rose

:46:43. > :46:46.spoke to Kat Downes. Justine, congratulations, you are

:46:47. > :46:50.the Olympic champion. Before these Games, some people said gold had no

:46:51. > :46:54.place at the Olympics. You are wearing the gold-medal now. Tell

:46:55. > :47:00.them they are wrong, tell them how it feels. They are absolutely wrong.

:47:01. > :47:06.Every single player that came to Rio will admit they had the most amazing

:47:07. > :47:09.week, potentially, of golfing lives. The competition has been first

:47:10. > :47:14.class, going up against Henrik Stenson, probably the best player in

:47:15. > :47:17.the world right now, was obviously a huge challenge and that is what the

:47:18. > :47:24.Olympics is about, the best of the best bringing their best on the day.

:47:25. > :47:28.It proved to be a great final round. The medal ceremony was a surreal

:47:29. > :47:33.experience, something I have seen and witnessed many times in other

:47:34. > :47:37.sports but to see Matt and Henrik Stenson, two good friends of mine,

:47:38. > :47:42.up there, it was something to behold. It must have been something

:47:43. > :47:48.new to you guys, don't tend get to belt the national anthem out. All I

:47:49. > :47:53.could hear was myself, normally you are in a stadium with 80,000 people.

:47:54. > :47:57.So I realised how bad my voice was. I muddled through the words but got

:47:58. > :48:01.most of them right. Do you think golf has answered its critics

:48:02. > :48:05.because of the showcase you and Henrik put on, all the way around,

:48:06. > :48:10.neck and neck, tied for the lead then the last. What a great

:48:11. > :48:13.showcase. From my point of view, it is something I focused on and was

:48:14. > :48:17.hungry for an something I wanted to peak for. It has been at the

:48:18. > :48:21.forefront of my mind for the last few months, building in here.

:48:22. > :48:25.Absolutely, I think golf... Hopefully it was an exciting vision

:48:26. > :48:31.people can really get into it. I believe it was a great showcase for

:48:32. > :48:37.golf for the first time in the Olympics for 112 years. Holding your

:48:38. > :48:40.nerve for that last pitch and pot, congratulations, Olympic champion.

:48:41. > :48:48.Thank you, the mind is scrambled, I am just taking it all in. Henrik,

:48:49. > :48:52.commiserations, it came right down to the last pitch and putt.

:48:53. > :48:57.Absolutely, it always felt like it would be a battle on the last nine

:48:58. > :49:01.and I thought it would be Justine and myself battling out for gold and

:49:02. > :49:09.silver. We were a couple of shots ahead of Matt, who had a fantastic

:49:10. > :49:13.round. Justine had a good pitch from a good angle and I didn't hit my

:49:14. > :49:18.best from a slightly more difficult angle, so well done to Justin Rose,

:49:19. > :49:22.I am happy for him to win it and I can't be too disappointed with

:49:23. > :49:32.leaving with a silver medal. As Justin Rose said, he out Stensoned

:49:33. > :49:40.Stenson. Yes, there were a couple of moments. He got up and down at 14,

:49:41. > :49:43.made a birdie on the next one, it was back and forth for a couple of

:49:44. > :49:49.holes and came down to the last hole, so no regrets. I know you are

:49:50. > :49:54.great friends, so nice to share the podium with a great friend, if you

:49:55. > :49:58.had to be beaten by anyone. I think we can kiss and make up in about a

:49:59. > :50:04.month's time in the Ryder Cup. It could be a good combo to have gold

:50:05. > :50:07.and silver teeing it up again. Congratulations. Matt,

:50:08. > :50:12.congratulations, bronze in the end. What a round from you, you started

:50:13. > :50:17.the day 5-under, out of contention people said, and you stand here with

:50:18. > :50:21.a bronze medal. I knew it would take an amazing man and I wish every time

:50:22. > :50:26.I wanted an amazing round, I could do that but everything came through

:50:27. > :50:32.and it was meant to be. -- take an amazing round. I got a birdie on the

:50:33. > :50:36.front, set up the front side, an eagle on the tenth hole and thought,

:50:37. > :50:41.can I go for more than bronze? But to be an outside shot and get a

:50:42. > :50:44.medal, I can't begin to explain how excited I am and how much pride

:50:45. > :50:52.ideal and a third-place finish is just amazing. Congratulations, thank

:50:53. > :50:58.you for stopping to chat to us. A reminder that the men's Omni and

:50:59. > :51:03.is currently taking place on BBC One, -- Omnium. The men's sprint

:51:04. > :51:08.final still to come, Jason Kenny and Callum Skinner in the best of three

:51:09. > :51:12.finals. But we are heading to Centre Court at the Olympic tennis Centre,

:51:13. > :51:17.where Andy Murray and Juan Martin Del Potro have just arrived. Andy

:51:18. > :51:22.Murray won the gold medal in London in 2012, Del Potro, who has huge

:51:23. > :51:26.support here, the Argentinian fans have been fantastic at all the

:51:27. > :51:31.Olympic venues and of course, Del Potro won bronze in London. Here

:51:32. > :51:35.comes Andy Murray trying to defend the title he won four years ago and

:51:36. > :51:40.add to the Wimbledon title he won earlier in the summer. Let's join

:51:41. > :51:46.our commentators at the Olympic tennis Centre, Simon Reed and Paul.

:51:47. > :51:52.Thank you very much. So, here we go. A few more Brits in today but a

:51:53. > :52:07.whole load from Argentina. The one hope to neutralise the noise

:52:08. > :52:10.as far as the Brits are concerned is that the Brazilians will naturally

:52:11. > :52:18.not favour the Argentine and so they will take Andy Murray to their

:52:19. > :52:24.hearts. That is the hope. Well, it couldn't have been more different

:52:25. > :52:31.yesterday. Murray breezing through against K Nishikora. But Juan Martin

:52:32. > :52:38.Del Potro having to go three hours and a quarter against Rafael Nadal,

:52:39. > :52:43.right up against the brink, he was, broken back. It looks like it would

:52:44. > :52:50.be Rafa's match, it wasn't to be, but he clawed it out. So here we

:52:51. > :52:56.are, Murray is a match away from doubling up with gold medals.

:52:57. > :53:00.Exciting atmosphere. Absolutely, looking forward to this one. It

:53:01. > :53:06.really is a cauldron, cavernous stadium and I would say it is about

:53:07. > :53:11.half full at the moment. The upper tier is starting to fill up and the

:53:12. > :53:12.atmosphere is bubbling up nicely. Really quite something for these two

:53:13. > :53:27.athletes. We have already had two gold-medal

:53:28. > :53:34.matches. The Mixed Doubles, Mattek-Sands and Jack Sock be eating

:53:35. > :53:43.RAM and Williams. And the women's doubles. -- beating Ram and

:53:44. > :53:51.Williams. The atmosphere is nothing like this, though. Pascal Marier is

:53:52. > :53:53.a man in charge and he will have a lot of work to do, like James

:53:54. > :54:09.Keothavong did yesterday. You probably picked it up better

:54:10. > :54:13.than I did, because the noise is so great around us but it sounded like

:54:14. > :54:19.Del Potro won the toss of the coin and he has elected to receive. I

:54:20. > :54:23.think so and Andy is happy that end. Yes, it is very volume us out here,

:54:24. > :54:30.there is a nervous, palpable anticipation of this one.

:54:31. > :54:37.Head-to-head between the two of them is 5-2 in Murray's favour. There is

:54:38. > :54:41.the run-through from Del Potro. The big one in the first round, knocking

:54:42. > :54:47.out a Novak Djokovic, the world number one, by a country mile. Then

:54:48. > :55:00.jazz Sousa of Portugal. Ben Daniel of Japan. Roberto Bautista Agut, he

:55:01. > :55:05.won that in two sets. Then Rafa. Andy Murray has been comfortable,

:55:06. > :55:08.beating Viktor Troicki, Monaco and then a very difficult match against

:55:09. > :55:14.Fabio Fognini, then coming through 6-3 in the third and then Steve

:55:15. > :55:20.Johnson. Johnson was 4-3 up at one point and had a break. Murray broke

:55:21. > :55:27.back and clawed it out, 7-6 in the third, and then the match against

:55:28. > :55:34.Nishikori was pretty comfortable. Yes, he was 3-0 down in the third to

:55:35. > :55:37.Fabio Fognini and pulled that one out up the bag. The sun is setting

:55:38. > :55:44.on what has been a gorgeous day here in Rio. This man has arguably one of

:55:45. > :55:49.the most devastating ground shots in tennis. He is feared throughout the

:55:50. > :55:55.world. The forehand is absolutely thunderous. It could be pivotal

:55:56. > :55:59.today against Andy Murray. He cocks that racket head up really high and

:56:00. > :56:08.as it descends, it is just a mighty third. 24 hours ago, he was in

:56:09. > :56:14.tears. He was a wreck after beating Nadal. Has he recovered. Murray

:56:15. > :56:17.would have watched his reaction and thought, that is very interesting.

:56:18. > :56:22.Or you have done is get to the final. I know it was big for you,

:56:23. > :56:28.but it was a heck of a reaction from Del Potro. He even went into the

:56:29. > :56:32.first tier of the crowd and started hugging them, which is nice to see

:56:33. > :56:39.but of course, it is all draining and Andy Murray will be savouring

:56:40. > :56:47.all of that and holding his nerve back as a consequence. Frenchman in

:56:48. > :56:55.charge. Argentines wherever you look around the stadium. I would say it

:56:56. > :57:00.is a bit more than half full now. People spilling into the upper tier

:57:01. > :57:05.pretty fast now. This is certainly the blue ticket event and everybody

:57:06. > :57:11.very excited. There is a real per around here of energy. Can't wait

:57:12. > :57:14.for this one to unfold. And the semifinal, the Nadal Del Potro

:57:15. > :57:21.semifinal, thrill a minute, that was.

:57:22. > :57:34.I know a lot of you watching our tennis buffs may not know the Del

:57:35. > :57:38.Potro story. At the age of 20, he won the U.S. Open, destroying Roger

:57:39. > :57:42.Federer and shortly afterwards, he had a wrist problem, had surgery on

:57:43. > :57:48.the right wrist. It was a massive comeback he had to endure. And then

:57:49. > :57:53.it got to 2015 and when it looks like he was coming back, the other

:57:54. > :57:56.wrist, the left wrist, would you believe, which he uses for the

:57:57. > :58:02.double hander, that went, and he had three surgeries and at one stage, it

:58:03. > :58:07.looked like he was never going to play again. He said he couldn't even

:58:08. > :58:11.watch tennis because he got so depressed watching other guys. But

:58:12. > :58:16.with the help of his doctor, they have worked out a schedule. He

:58:17. > :58:25.hasn't had to change his technique. Even though he is ranked 141, at

:58:26. > :58:28.take notice -- take no notice of that, this is a top-10 player in

:58:29. > :58:37.every sense of the world and Murray will treated just like that. It was

:58:38. > :58:42.only 2010 when he was ranked fourth in the world. He brings such

:58:43. > :58:45.presence, so statuesque at six foot six, and when he gets to that

:58:46. > :58:51.forehand, he is joined on this. And it will have to have a good game

:58:52. > :58:56.plan prepared to combat that. Andy has come into this in a very

:58:57. > :59:01.positive frame of mind. Whenever he has been asked about defending the

:59:02. > :59:05.title, he says he doesn't see it that way. No one is going to take

:59:06. > :59:10.that gold medal he won in London away from him. He just sees this as

:59:11. > :59:13.doubling up, another huge achievement but he doesn't see it as

:59:14. > :59:18.defending anything and that is exactly the right attitude to come

:59:19. > :59:22.into this match with. He wants to go out there as hunting rather than

:59:23. > :59:26.hunted and he has nothing to defend, no one is going to strip him of the

:59:27. > :59:32.gold medal, he has to build and win a second, which would be historic if

:59:33. > :59:36.he could. Del Potro has been sparing in his tournaments, very careful. He

:59:37. > :59:40.went to Australia hoping to play, had some practice and it wasn't

:59:41. > :59:46.feeling right, so he pulled out of Australia. He didn't start back in

:59:47. > :59:52.February, having spent the best part of a year out of tennis. Since then,

:59:53. > :59:57.it has been step-by-step. Semifinal in Stuttgart, where he lost a

:59:58. > :00:01.Kohlschreiber. Third round in Wimbledon, but he beat Stan Wawrinka

:00:02. > :00:05.in the second round. That showed as he was getting ready for the top

:00:06. > :00:14.flight again and he has shown that again here in Rio. Murray's form,

:00:15. > :00:18.well it has been a little bit staccato. Terrific yesterday,

:00:19. > :00:21.terrific in the first two rounds. Against Fognini and Johnson, it

:00:22. > :00:26.wavered here and there but when he was under pressure, he has found

:00:27. > :00:29.what was needed. He has dug deep when he has needed to cover showing

:00:30. > :00:33.a lot of character and because of all the hard yards he has run

:00:34. > :00:36.throughout this, his body is home, he knows that and it gives him a lot

:00:37. > :00:54.of self trust as a consequence. I think the question on everybody's

:00:55. > :00:58.lips, can Del Potro pull off a third big surprise? You took out Djokovic

:00:59. > :01:03.in the opening round, a tearful farewell for him as he left the

:01:04. > :01:09.court, and then Nadal yesterday, did it again. What is it about tennis

:01:10. > :01:15.players and tears? They seem to flow readily in the last few years. It is

:01:16. > :01:20.the modern man, that is what it is, we are all in touch with our

:01:21. > :01:24.emotions, we are allowed to let go every now and then. I speak as if I

:01:25. > :01:29.am in their company! But this is a real privilege, this

:01:30. > :01:33.afternoon-evening, this just about to get under way. It is starting an

:01:34. > :01:36.hour and a half later than scheduled because the ceremonies took longer

:01:37. > :01:41.than people thought, matches were not short. What is the result of

:01:42. > :01:47.that? The temperature is still pretty high, around 26, it has been

:01:48. > :01:53.up towards 30, there is no sun on the court now, humid, around 52%

:01:54. > :01:58.humidity, and a light breeze. But pretty good conditions now. Yeah,

:01:59. > :02:03.idyllic playing conditions, not much breeze, which will not be

:02:04. > :02:09.interfering with the Bulthuis. Best of five sets in the final, best of

:02:10. > :02:14.five tie-break sets, and that may work in Murray's favour, bearing in

:02:15. > :02:15.mind what happened yesterday to Del Potro. But it is Andy Murray of

:02:16. > :02:40.Great Britain to begin. The continuing problem of spectators

:02:41. > :02:44.moving and taking their seats as players are about to serve. It won't

:02:45. > :03:52.go away, that is for sure. If there is considerable residue

:03:53. > :03:57.from what happened yesterday, I guess we can pick it up at the start

:03:58. > :03:59.and towards the end of the match. Is Del Potro going to take a little

:04:00. > :04:42.while to get going here? Well, imperative for both players to

:04:43. > :04:44.get a good start at an event of such huge magnitude. It is about holding

:04:45. > :05:21.serve first to settle down. It is the immediate response from

:05:22. > :05:26.Murray when he plays a poor shot these days, towel, to slow things

:05:27. > :05:30.down. And that was a strange choice, given that the match is so young, I

:05:31. > :05:31.thought he would have wanted to bludgeon the ball to settle into the

:05:32. > :05:58.match a little more. Well, you could see a real

:05:59. > :06:04.deliberation in the footwork there behind the ball from Andy Murray,

:06:05. > :06:14.just wanting to ensure that... The crowd starting already. Yes, the odd

:06:15. > :06:21.chant from the Argentines just food down by the Brazilians. -- booed. No

:06:22. > :06:51.love lost between the two nations! Listen to that roar. It seems a lot

:06:52. > :07:02.have come here to sit apart rollovers! But we will take that. --

:07:03. > :07:10.to see Del Potro lose. Now it is the Argentines. Well, there is a lot of

:07:11. > :07:20.Argentine flags all around the upper pressure Lens of this wonderful

:07:21. > :07:22.court here. -- echelons. It is probably about three quarters full.

:07:23. > :07:41.People coming in all the time. So it is the 27-year-old, they

:07:42. > :07:44.called him the Tower of Tandil, and you can understand why, especially

:07:45. > :08:02.if you happen to be receiving his serve.

:08:03. > :08:10.Another key element, of course, will be how much can Andy Murray

:08:11. > :08:18.nullified the Del Potro serve, a cornerstone of his game, that and

:08:19. > :08:22.the big forehand. It is imperative that he gets a good number of first

:08:23. > :08:58.serves in so he can be on the front foot in the rally.

:08:59. > :09:07.So an opening straightaway. Our commentary position is to the right,

:09:08. > :09:10.we are right behind the bird's nest at the stop with our view of the

:09:11. > :09:38.stadium. Well, we have been saying all week

:09:39. > :09:43.out hard it is to hit through this abrasive hard court, it can play

:09:44. > :09:47.slowly, but Del Potro does have the weight of shot to crush the blue,

:09:48. > :09:49.and he does have very flat trajectory. He plays with fine

:09:50. > :10:51.margins, this big man. Well, that has taken a bit out of

:10:52. > :10:55.him, a little sickly smile, but it is interesting there not just that

:10:56. > :11:01.Del Potro won the rally, because normally Murray would win rallies of

:11:02. > :11:07.that length, but he was moving fine. Anyone who can get past Rafael Nadal

:11:08. > :11:15.on a slow hard court is moving well, he is very efficient for a big man.

:11:16. > :11:27.But Murray will be happy if rallies of that length continue. UMPIRE:

:11:28. > :11:31.Let, first service. And it is an interesting talking

:11:32. > :11:35.point, because Murray would often wait too long in the point, and that

:11:36. > :11:41.could be problematic against a player like Del Potro. He likes the

:11:42. > :11:43.rally to be longer, but perhaps not too long, because he can become a

:11:44. > :12:23.little passive sometimes. Yeah, a shot that has become

:12:24. > :12:28.Murray's trademark, that backhand crosscourt, it was Leon Smith, the

:12:29. > :12:35.head of men's tennis, just loving that. The change of pace, the long,

:12:36. > :12:41.slow slice, then the vicious acceleration, just stamping on the

:12:42. > :12:43.volley to get it away. So break point in Del Potro's opening service

:12:44. > :13:14.game. There is that forehand, what a way

:13:15. > :13:17.to respond! So positive. You can see why, even though he is an enormous

:13:18. > :13:23.man, why he has had problems with his wrist. These days, the problems

:13:24. > :13:29.are happening more with the left wrist, the double hander. Initially,

:13:30. > :13:31.six years ago, when he had a year out, it was the right wrist. Boy,

:13:32. > :13:45.does he put some force through it! Yes, he has got a terrific

:13:46. > :13:50.multi-segmented forehand, so many facets that he uses, the shoulder,

:13:51. > :13:55.the elbow, the hips, the knees, or firing at the same time, and loading

:13:56. > :14:00.into that small muscle group at the end, the wrist, a bit like a coiled

:14:01. > :14:35.up towel. When I flick you out of the shower!

:14:36. > :14:46.Just to put viewers at rest, that hasn't happened!

:14:47. > :15:02.Murray constantly looking up at his physio alongside Leon. Just that

:15:03. > :15:31.early reassurance that he seeks from his camp, still settling, these two.

:15:32. > :15:43.Floodlights on now and it will be increasingly important. It gets dark

:15:44. > :15:44.quite quickly here. Another half an hour and it will be virtually

:15:45. > :16:00.night-time. Well, it is such a big, big heavy

:16:01. > :16:06.shot, that one, but it can go astray and if the concentration is off at

:16:07. > :16:09.all, that is what you see. Murray planning on teasing out those kind

:16:10. > :16:21.of errors from the Del Potro forehand.

:16:22. > :16:41.His fastest serve so far, 203. But the first ace of the match and two

:16:42. > :16:56.ace Andy Murray, it has to be special.

:16:57. > :17:03.But he can't finish this game off. Whenever you watch the Argentine

:17:04. > :17:08.play, the match is usually on his terms and he has the sort of game

:17:09. > :17:13.that can wrench the match away from several opponents, even top-10

:17:14. > :17:16.players. We have seen that a lot in the past. But perhaps nerves

:17:17. > :17:56.jangling a little. He hasn't quite entirely settled.

:17:57. > :18:08.Clever play from Andy Murray, using the slicer to keep the ball low to

:18:09. > :18:59.the tall man. So another chance for the break.

:19:00. > :19:08.Murray doesn't need the lesson, but he has to be sure when he goes to

:19:09. > :19:14.the Del Potro forehand that he has got some defence, because it wasn't

:19:15. > :19:19.that short and Del Potro was in. He was doing anything about quarter

:19:20. > :19:20.length on that side, Del Potro. The Argentinians really getting behind

:19:21. > :19:53.him now. Murray standing around seven metres

:19:54. > :19:54.behind the baseline to receive this, but he moves forward as Del Potro

:19:55. > :20:17.serves. No. Del Potro can't finish this game

:20:18. > :20:22.off. Very clever little half volley, it was a tricky shot as he came

:20:23. > :20:25.forward on the forehand. You have to commend his positivity, Andy Murray

:20:26. > :20:27.coming forward a lot already in this match, asking a number of questions

:20:28. > :21:07.of the Argentine. By both players fully aware that if

:21:08. > :21:08.Murray could get the early break here, it could set the precedent for

:21:09. > :21:33.this opening set. Del Potro has to avoid rallies of

:21:34. > :21:38.that length and more because even though he started out well, that is

:21:39. > :21:41.not going to work for him. Absolutely and he was getting

:21:42. > :21:44.tangled up, he wasn't fully committed, the way he moved around

:21:45. > :21:48.his own backhand. He steered that to the double hand of Murray. So third

:21:49. > :22:31.time lucky for Murray? Forward he comes again and this time

:22:32. > :22:40.he does get the break. And he is four from four in net assaults, very

:22:41. > :22:44.proactive up there, very proactive game from the British number one.

:22:45. > :22:50.Watches this ball so closely, leaving nothing to chance. Secures

:22:51. > :22:58.it with the legs, good use of the other half for balance. Head still.

:22:59. > :23:41.It is a massive blow early on for the Argentine.

:23:42. > :23:49.Yes. Murray did well to get it back but didn't exactly put Del Potro

:23:50. > :24:20.off. There is a guy just sauntering along

:24:21. > :24:35.behind the camera man just to the right of Murray.

:24:36. > :24:44.Murray was distracted by it. He carried on. I am not sure he is not

:24:45. > :24:49.one of the security guys. But halfway through that point, he

:24:50. > :24:56.started walking around again. He should know better, really. One of

:24:57. > :25:13.the line judges has gone over to him to tell him to keep still.

:25:14. > :25:22.He got lucky there, it was a fine volley at the end. Off the left, it

:25:23. > :25:25.could have gone anywhere. It was a world-class quality because he was

:25:26. > :25:30.under the pressure of the scoreboard and to make that off volley at that

:25:31. > :25:34.stage, highly skilled from Andy Murray. Far easier to volley back

:25:35. > :25:41.where the ball has come from. Terrific control of the racket head,

:25:42. > :25:44.but it is a plan to get forward as much as he can. As much as he feels

:25:45. > :26:08.comfortable with, maybe a little more.

:26:09. > :26:16.Just out. And here is a chance for an immediate break back for the

:26:17. > :27:25.Argentine. Terrific from Murray. Absolutely

:27:26. > :27:30.brilliant from Andy Murray, targeting most of his traffic to the

:27:31. > :27:36.backhand of Del Potro for obvious reasons but didn't he defend that

:27:37. > :27:43.lob well? That was right on his own baseline. Del Potro disgusted with

:27:44. > :28:22.himself are not making that. Second break point.

:28:23. > :28:30.Well, you have to take your hat off to Del Potro. After all that

:28:31. > :28:32.happened yesterday and the iffy start he has made, that was some

:28:33. > :28:43.character and it is now 1-2. Three Games so far, two breaks of

:28:44. > :28:49.serve, Andy Murray leading Juan Martin Del Potro 2-1 in the first

:28:50. > :28:53.set of the gold medal match. Well, the Sun has set here at the

:28:54. > :28:56.Copacabana beach so it is time to bring you up-to-date with the

:28:57. > :29:03.headlines on what has been a tremendous day for Great Britain.

:29:04. > :29:06.History today for Max Whitlock as he became Britain's first

:29:07. > :29:11.gold-medallist in Olympic gymnastics when winning the men's floor

:29:12. > :29:18.competition. Amazing scenes as Brazil took silver and bronze.

:29:19. > :29:24.You have heard the one about buses? Well, moments later, Whitlock won a

:29:25. > :29:29.second gold medal on the pommel horse and Louis Smith took the

:29:30. > :29:34.silver to add the cherry on top. Meanwhile, America's stap gymnast

:29:35. > :29:37.Simone Biles won a third gold medal of the Rio Games. A 19-year-old

:29:38. > :29:42.Texan also won gold in the individual and team all around

:29:43. > :29:48.competitions -- the 19-year-old. Justine Rose is the Olympic golf

:29:49. > :29:51.champion after a tremendous tussle with Henrik Stenson. Rose has really

:29:52. > :29:59.embraced these Games and celebrated in style.

:30:00. > :30:03.And over on BBC One at the moment, the final of the men's sprint

:30:04. > :30:08.between Jason Kenny and Callum Skinner. It will be taking place in

:30:09. > :30:12.the next half an hour. Jason Kenny took the first of the best of three

:30:13. > :30:15.final. Here on BBC Four, we are sticking with the tennis and the

:30:16. > :30:17.gold medal match between Andy Murray and Juan Martin Del Potro. Let's

:30:18. > :30:30.rejoin Simon and Paul. I hope you are ready for a long

:30:31. > :30:31.evening, three games, we have been going for 27 minutes, so much has

:30:32. > :30:50.happened. Murray guessed he was getting to the

:30:51. > :30:55.ball, and he was almost there as Del Potro made his shot. They have

:30:56. > :31:00.obviously done their homework, the team and coaches, studied footage of

:31:01. > :31:17.where Del Potro likes to go, Murray guessing dead right.

:31:18. > :31:35.Terrific shot. What a response this is from Murray, so often at his best

:31:36. > :31:41.when he has been wounded. Service weight of Del Potro has gone

:31:42. > :31:51.ratcheting up. But still he is staring at 0-30.

:31:52. > :31:58.He tried to lay the hammer down just a bit too strong there. Murray has

:31:59. > :32:40.three chances to break Del Potro for the second time.

:32:41. > :32:51.And he did it with ease. An immediate backlash from Andy Murray,

:32:52. > :32:57.real credit to him, showing the mental fortitude there.

:32:58. > :33:06.He has had 17 successive wins going into this match. It is a difficult

:33:07. > :33:41.habit to break, especially when you are as good a player as he is.

:33:42. > :33:50.That was just too good a shot from Murray, he knew Del Potro was coming

:33:51. > :33:55.forward. There was an urgency of the footwork from Murray, and didn't he

:33:56. > :33:56.do well to get the ball to the big man's toes, always awkward when you

:33:57. > :34:23.are six foot six. Yeah, measured it to perfection. He

:34:24. > :34:28.has lifted his game to just about the highest level it can be, but it

:34:29. > :34:36.looks at the moment too good a level four Del Potro. Yeah, this was just

:34:37. > :34:38.perfectly weighted and angled, and it had to be, Del Potro closing down

:34:39. > :34:58.the angle - to no avail, in the end. He wasn't sure about the shot at the

:34:59. > :35:03.baseline, not sure he gave it 100% in his reply, and Murray just popped

:35:04. > :35:41.it up, and now he has got three points for 4-1.

:35:42. > :35:51.So 4-1, and after a tricky start, suddenly, it is looking a little

:35:52. > :35:56.one-sided, but Del Potro has to hold here, otherwise this set is gone. A

:35:57. > :36:00.very strong couple of games from Andy Murray, really making a

:36:01. > :36:05.statement of intent, a huge backlash, having relinquished on his

:36:06. > :36:09.own serve a few games ago. He is back with a vengeance now, now

:36:10. > :36:18.looking very good, very focused, intense with the footwork, good

:36:19. > :36:22.energy from Britain's finest. We understand that Murray has booked a

:36:23. > :36:28.jet tonight, he is sharing it with Rafa Nadal, making their way home.

:36:29. > :36:33.Nadal is probably very fatigued after yesterday, when he put so much

:36:34. > :36:38.in and didn't get any reward when he lost to Kei Nishikori in the bronze

:36:39. > :36:42.medal match, Nishikori winning in straight sets. Could be mixed

:36:43. > :36:48.emotions on that flight if Murray has his way here. Rafa Nadal has

:36:49. > :36:54.played something like 12 matches, he won the doubles with Marc Lopez, his

:36:55. > :36:58.dear friend, gold medal there. So he has come away with something, quite

:36:59. > :37:02.remarkable for Rafa Nadal, having had such a long time and since the

:37:03. > :37:09.French Open, to be competing at this level, absolutely commendable. So

:37:10. > :38:02.what now for Del Potro? He has got to come up with something.

:38:03. > :38:08.Well, he is landing 60% of first serves in, but only winning 50% of

:38:09. > :38:25.them due to the terrific returning skills of Murray.

:38:26. > :38:32.Enterprising play from Del Potro. Yes, Murray has always been regarded

:38:33. > :38:36.as the second-best return in the game, some would say in the history

:38:37. > :38:42.of the game behind Djokovic. I am not sure he is number two anymore.

:38:43. > :38:58.No! Interesting to see the court position of Andy Murray, well back

:38:59. > :39:02.from behind the Rio sign. Doesn't want to give too much time to Del

:39:03. > :39:04.Potro, we know what he is like when he has too much time, he winds up

:39:05. > :39:54.that forehand and wounds you. Well played. Every point, even the

:39:55. > :40:00.40-0 point, given total intensity. How often do you see a player lapse

:40:01. > :40:04.when they are 40-0 up? But Andy was preying on that right now, spreading

:40:05. > :40:41.the court really well to the Del Potro forehand there.

:40:42. > :40:49.Well, he kills you so beautifully, doesn't he? Death by a thousand

:40:50. > :40:52.cuts, isn't it? Just teasing, Del Potro thought for a second that he

:40:53. > :40:58.could, he went, but too late, though.

:40:59. > :41:31.190 km/h out wide, ace number two, but still Murray by a break. There

:41:32. > :41:35.is no doubting his bone-crushing power, but there has been a few

:41:36. > :41:41.grimaces from Del Potro, almost as if he is a little fatigued after the

:41:42. > :41:44.endeavours against Nadal yesterday. But the support will no doubt buoy

:41:45. > :42:05.him. Murray off the mark Wood aces now.

:42:06. > :42:49.-- with. Well, if it was over, it was a

:42:50. > :42:54.winner. And of late there has been most scenes of Del Potro coming

:42:55. > :42:59.forwards, I think Andy has to be a little bit more careful that he is

:43:00. > :43:02.not too passive. We have seen him go through these meandering phases of

:43:03. > :43:15.complacency, let's hope this is not one here.

:43:16. > :43:37.Well, he is only two from eight on second serve points won, Murray.

:43:38. > :43:44.Well, we talk so often about the line between being overly aggressive

:43:45. > :43:47.and Del Potro normally cooks that of just about right, but we have seen a

:43:48. > :44:13.few too many unforced errors from his forehand side.

:44:14. > :44:23.He is a brute of a man, Del Potro, but he has got real skill as well.

:44:24. > :44:29.Soft handed brilliance here, very explosive first step, got it early

:44:30. > :44:34.enough that he could tickle it over nicely, poise and balance, using the

:44:35. > :44:36.other arm nicely. Putting the brakes on by stabbing his heels into the

:44:37. > :45:15.court. Well, rather off balance on that

:45:16. > :46:04.second serve. His first double, and a chance for another break back.

:46:05. > :46:10.Well, if he had done that on a backhand, there would be only one

:46:11. > :46:25.mirror, and it would be marry. Not there. -- Andy Murray. We're coming

:46:26. > :46:28.straight back to the tennis but over on BBC One there is the men's sprint

:46:29. > :46:36.final in the track cycling and the second races coming up very shortly

:46:37. > :46:38.with the gold medal up for grabs. It is Jason Kenny against Callum

:46:39. > :46:53.Skinner and Jason Kenny won the first race.

:46:54. > :47:02.So, Murray will be a bit upset with himself there, allowing Del Potro to

:47:03. > :47:05.get the break. There has been criticism of Murray, previous second

:47:06. > :47:10.teaming up with Ivan Lendl, at the beginning of matches he plays not to

:47:11. > :47:14.lose but once he is a difficult position he plays to win. I think

:47:15. > :47:20.Ivan Lendl sorted that out again and I haven't seen it but it is

:47:21. > :47:24.something to watch out for. That was a little reactive from Andy Murray,

:47:25. > :47:28.that service game there where he relapsed and we haven't seen in

:47:29. > :47:32.venture into the net as he did in the early part of being sacked. He

:47:33. > :47:39.was six from seven in that regard but just losing his way about their

:47:40. > :47:48.and nothing gained and Del Potro capitalising on it, as you would

:47:49. > :47:56.expect. The matches being played at a pedestrian pace. It is always thus

:47:57. > :47:58.with Del Potro. We have been going out for three quarters of an hour,

:47:59. > :48:40.seven Games. It has been two consecutive games

:48:41. > :48:45.against Andy Murray, and he has to stop the rot now as the momentum

:48:46. > :49:17.bubble of Del Potro is really starting to swell.

:49:18. > :49:22.The rock-solid Andy Murray that we are used to seeing is not there at

:49:23. > :49:33.the moment, perhaps a lapse in concentration. Del Potro compound in

:49:34. > :50:18.that misery, with his serve approaching 200 kilometres an hour.

:50:19. > :50:23.Well, it Del Potro is definitely orchestrating affairs over the last

:50:24. > :50:27.three games and Andy Murray is in its carrying phase at the moment,

:50:28. > :50:36.just playing chase. It is all dependent on how many seconds Cerci

:50:37. > :50:46.gets a look at here. -- how many second serves he gets a look at

:50:47. > :50:54.here. Now the rhythm has gone from Murray. Hopefully that won't last

:50:55. > :51:03.long but that is the situation. It is for- four.

:51:04. > :51:11.The scoreboard confirming the run of three games for Del Potro and the

:51:12. > :51:59.South American energy is starting to bubble up.

:52:00. > :52:08.I just don't get it. It is certainly like there is a switch or plug has

:52:09. > :52:10.been pulled out somewhat. A complete turnaround in this set. He was in

:52:11. > :53:28.control at 4-1. Oh! So far wide, so far back, del

:53:29. > :53:33.Potro still able to crush it across, and then gets the winner down the

:53:34. > :53:37.line. Three things have happened at here that are really very

:53:38. > :53:43.interesting. The Andy Murray service percentage of first serves has come

:53:44. > :53:47.right down and he is now a low 50% and his court position is rendering

:53:48. > :53:56.him a little less effective and he hasn't for raid to the net in the

:53:57. > :53:58.last two games at all. -- he hasn't made a foray to the net in the last

:53:59. > :54:37.two games at all. He is challenging. It is down the

:54:38. > :54:47.line. We are a long way up. He did challenge instantly as well. I think

:54:48. > :54:54.the referee didn't see the first challenge so here's saying it is too

:54:55. > :54:57.late. No, he is wrong. He raised his hand immediately. We didn't say

:54:58. > :55:02.anything perhaps and that is the issue but he didn't hear anything

:55:03. > :55:11.and he thought he didn't challenge. He is lucky because it might well

:55:12. > :55:20.have been out there. If it had been it was 0-40. Yes, it could be

:55:21. > :55:45.consequential. Del Potro has to forget it but it might be tough.

:55:46. > :55:54.Oh, it is a good shot. Not quite enough loft on the club from del

:55:55. > :55:58.Potro but Murray did well. How the umpire cannot say he did not

:55:59. > :56:03.challenge quickly enough when he was not looking at him, because we saw

:56:04. > :56:12.him and it was instant. Yes, that was poor from the umpire. A huge

:56:13. > :56:32.point here. Credit to Del Potro, he didn't make

:56:33. > :56:44.too much of it. He could really have brought the crowd into it and made

:56:45. > :56:49.it a raucous few minutes. That was a fine shot from Murray and what a

:56:50. > :56:55.timely one? Yes, I was about to say the same. Look at that, what

:56:56. > :56:59.position and the unreturnable backhand inside the baseline is the

:57:00. > :57:02.core position from Murray and it shows that if he can land the first

:57:03. > :57:27.served he can have his way with a point as often as not.

:57:28. > :57:34.It is all a bit of a fight at the moment. I think it is very hard when

:57:35. > :57:37.you have been playing catch up in the point and you are used to

:57:38. > :58:38.scurrying, and suddenly having to turn on something very aggressive.

:58:39. > :58:54.Yes, it is dark now. It is ticking up to 6pm local time.

:58:55. > :59:04.Here we go, says Murray. He won what could have been a dangerous game

:59:05. > :59:08.there, and he forces Del Potro to serve to stay in the set. Yes, that
