:00:07. > :00:11.Michelle, thank you very much. See you later. For the last couple of

:00:11. > :00:17.days, we have been caught up in the excitement of the gold weekend for

:00:17. > :00:26.Great Britain. Today, 6th August, the 50th anniversary of Jamaica's

:00:26. > :00:33.independence. The country's motto is, out of many, one people. But

:00:33. > :00:38.today it is about one person. His top speed touched 27.3 mph, just

:00:38. > :00:47.within the legal limit on most of our roads. Both 100m sprint titles

:00:47. > :00:50.have gone to Jamaica once again, and I bet there are a few sore

:00:50. > :00:54.heads in Jamaica this morning. After his incredible Mystic Meg

:00:54. > :00:57.performance last night of predicting the 100m time, only to

:00:57. > :01:05.be undone by 1,100 per the second, and still allow and Colin Jackson

:01:05. > :01:12.to pick my lottery numbers this week. Well done, Colin. I tell you,

:01:12. > :01:16.it was just fantastic to see that. We all discussing in the first

:01:16. > :01:23.round how he was going to look at what he was going to do, but a new

:01:23. > :01:33.Olympic record, and he was just a jiffy off. But you changed his mind,

:01:33. > :01:34.

:01:34. > :01:44.Denise. I did, I talked him out of it. I said the clock would stop at

:01:44. > :01:46.

:01:46. > :01:51.9.64, and it did. Next up it is the women's 1,500m heats. Hannah

:01:51. > :01:59.England had troubled preparation. She accelerated just at the right

:01:59. > :02:02.time, absolutely perfect. I guess I didn't really think. It was not

:02:02. > :02:09.like I always wanted to be an Olympian. I just thought it was

:02:09. > :02:13.always possible. I didn't need very many athletes when I was young or

:02:13. > :02:16.see real life Olympians. A judge thought it was this dream thing.

:02:17. > :02:22.And think it is really important to see British people don't well, and

:02:22. > :02:26.it is absolutely ideal. Just to see a British person be on top of the

:02:26. > :02:30.world, even just in the medals, aged just normalises it. And the

:02:30. > :02:35.more times I have spent on senior teams, the more of these people you

:02:35. > :02:43.meet, I met Mo Farah and Paula Radcliffe, and they are normal

:02:43. > :02:49.people. I see the race just as another race, 12 people running

:02:49. > :02:53.around a track, but our excited about the whole event. You have to

:02:53. > :03:03.feed off it. If there is somebody they're supporting you, it is our

:03:03. > :03:05.

:03:05. > :03:10.chance. You have to feel for Hanna, a freak injury early season. It is

:03:10. > :03:18.awful, and luckily we never have to suffer from that. That can cost

:03:18. > :03:23.athletes, and she is struggling to recover from it. This 1,500m, we

:03:23. > :03:33.see so much jostling going on, but the injury is behind her now, so

:03:33. > :03:36.

:03:36. > :03:40.let's just hope she can do herself England has a tough job here.

:03:40. > :03:50.Anybody would take a look at this start list and have a long hard

:03:50. > :04:02.

:04:02. > :04:09.people who, depending on the way this race goes, could go through.

:04:09. > :04:19.We have world champions, Jamal in there. The 37 the Ieuan Russian,

:04:19. > :04:28.

:04:28. > :04:33.back after a doping offence, and Ethiopian. Just underlining what

:04:33. > :04:39.Brendan was saying a few moments ago. And never short of a smile,

:04:39. > :04:44.Hannah England. Let's hope she is smiling at the end of this. There

:04:44. > :04:52.are three heats, 45 athletes in this first round. The way the draw

:04:52. > :05:02.is done, they go for 15 in three heats. 24 athletes to go through,

:05:02. > :05:07.

:05:07. > :05:10.she has such great pace to burn. But we need to know which sort of

:05:10. > :05:15.Hannah England this is, because before she picked up that injury,

:05:15. > :05:20.she started the season very well. She got back into training, but a

:05:20. > :05:24.couple of races since then haven't filled her with confidence. She now

:05:24. > :05:34.finds herself at the front here, and they are already finding

:05:34. > :05:41.

:05:41. > :05:43.for a round of the 1,500m. And when they are going slowly and

:05:43. > :05:50.concentrated over such a short distance, this is where accidents

:05:50. > :06:00.can happen, somebody can trip and cause a problem. Tomashova move to

:06:00. > :06:01.

:06:01. > :06:07.the front now. Obiri of Kenya is following closely. A think she is

:06:07. > :06:15.going to try to move the pace along. And look how quickly Aregawi is

:06:15. > :06:22.coming to cover from Ethiopia. Just behind her, Jamal, a very good

:06:23. > :06:32.athlete indeed. Twice the world champion at 1,500m. Six will

:06:33. > :06:45.

:06:45. > :06:52.qualify as of right, and the sixth just stretching them out now. The

:06:52. > :07:00.German, Harrow, just moving up alongside Hannah England. Sheran

:07:00. > :07:10.Rowbury of the USA is on the inside, and van Dalen of New Zealand. The

:07:10. > :07:19.

:07:19. > :07:25.Spaniard is towards the back. This When you're running first, you're

:07:25. > :07:30.not sure of the fastest time, because you don't know what has

:07:30. > :07:35.happened in the other heats, so you have got to be in the first six. I

:07:35. > :07:44.am a little bit nervous about how they England. She started the

:07:44. > :07:50.season well but hasn't run well a tall since her injury. -- hasn't

:07:50. > :08:00.run well at all. But she is getting a good run. She is running on the

:08:00. > :08:10.

:08:10. > :08:14.inside, and you don't always get Harrer there at the back. Hannah

:08:14. > :08:18.England are very much in contention, but has she got the pace in the

:08:18. > :08:23.last 300 metres? She now needs to accelerate down

:08:23. > :08:33.the back straight, which she is doing. She keeps looking for the

:08:33. > :08:33.

:08:33. > :08:39.inside run, and if she is not careful, that will cost her. Hannah

:08:39. > :08:45.England still looking good. It is the top six, don't forget. She

:08:45. > :08:50.should have enough in the home straight. The young Ethiopian,

:08:50. > :08:58.Aregawi, very strong. Hannah England is coming under pressure,

:08:58. > :09:08.but she is OK. Shannon Rowbury finishes quickly, but it won't be

:09:08. > :09:15.

:09:15. > :09:21.good enough. England in 5th. The winning time, she didn't panic.

:09:21. > :09:26.Hannah England has decided to stay on the inside and hope that she had

:09:26. > :09:32.the pace. That may well have been just the right tactic.

:09:32. > :09:35.That was tough, and it was impressive. I always get nervous

:09:35. > :09:43.when the athlete tries the inside route, because you can get yourself

:09:43. > :09:50.in trouble there, especially in such a big crowd. Jamal in 6th

:09:50. > :09:54.place, twice world champion, making a bit of a runner. This is as well

:09:54. > :10:04.as Hannah England has a run since she had her injury earlier in the

:10:04. > :10:09.year. There she is, and there there was a bit of power, a bit of pace

:10:09. > :10:18.from Hannah England. She finished in 5th place from Jamal just ahead

:10:18. > :10:28.of her. Barbieri and Jamal, and then Harrer of Germany. They are

:10:28. > :10:32.the six. But Aregawi was impressive, the Ethiopian record holder. I was

:10:32. > :10:36.very impressed with Hannah England, delighted to see the world

:10:36. > :10:42.championship silver-medallist qualify for the final, the semi-

:10:42. > :10:48.final of the women's 1,500m. She is downstairs with fail.

:10:48. > :10:52.Such determination on your face, and a big smile now. I was so, so

:10:52. > :10:57.happy. The last time I did a big race like this was Crystal Palace,

:10:57. > :11:02.and it wasn't like that. I owe my selection to the work I did before

:11:02. > :11:06.I got injured, and making the semi- final was about all the

:11:06. > :11:12.concentrating and the medical staff and the coaching. I know am so

:11:12. > :11:18.excited that I get to race more than once. You got the unluckiest

:11:18. > :11:25.of injuries. Yes, and nightmare Far an Olympic year, but I can't

:11:25. > :11:34.believe I am here, and that will bring me on as well for two dess

:11:34. > :11:44.time. I hope Laura and Lisa can get through as well. So do we. Lisa

:11:44. > :11:47.

:11:47. > :11:52.I approach each championship very differently, and I have got a lot

:11:52. > :11:56.of lessons learned from each one. I feel I have got a good set of tools

:11:56. > :12:06.in hand to approach this championship, and I can draw on the

:12:06. > :12:11.experiences I have to make sure The 1,500m is always very

:12:11. > :12:15.interesting, because it is not necessarily the athlete with the

:12:15. > :12:22.cricket -- the quickest time he wins on the day. Some athletes are

:12:22. > :12:26.very good at one of performances. There is nobody doing the work for

:12:26. > :12:33.you when you do the time on paper, so it is up to you to make it your

:12:33. > :12:36.moment. People often get it wrong, and that is where medals are run. A

:12:36. > :12:40.big part of me keeps having to remind myself that I need to enjoy

:12:41. > :12:50.this moment and embrace it. At the end of the day, this is everything,

:12:51. > :12:51.

:12:51. > :13:01.so it needs to be enjoyable. Four years ago in Beijing, it was a

:13:01. > :13:03.

:13:03. > :13:06.fraction away from a medal, wasn't it? So close. She has learned so

:13:07. > :13:12.much from her championship performances. I hope she can put it

:13:12. > :13:20.together today. She is going to have to run quick, but it is great

:13:20. > :13:28.to see her back. Paul Dickenson describing this one.

:13:28. > :13:38.Lisa Dobriskey looking sharp, warmed up well. Her training is

:13:38. > :13:46.

:13:46. > :13:53.first heat. Shannon Rowbury and the others, hoping for a fastest loser

:13:53. > :14:02.spots with two more heat to come. The 20-year-old British discus

:14:02. > :14:08.record, Lawrence Okoye, begins his Olympic experience. Still a little

:14:08. > :14:16.naive in terms of his technique, but when he gets it right... Oh,

:14:16. > :14:26.dear. That discuses almost buried in the Turf. Just trying a little

:14:26. > :14:36.bit too hard. He needs to cool it down. His coach there, Mark Wiseman

:14:36. > :14:44.

:14:44. > :14:49.a lot of good opposition, there is a lot of good opposition in this

:14:49. > :14:58.one. Makestad Bovim could have been a contender for the semi-final, she

:14:58. > :15:08.has withdrawn. Jennifer Simpson, the world champion in 2011. There

:15:08. > :15:09.

:15:09. > :15:17.she is. She has run 405 -- she has run four minutes and five seconds,

:15:17. > :15:27.not a great time. Lisa Dobriskey. She will now realise she is in the

:15:27. > :15:51.

:15:51. > :16:01.Olympic Games, she takes a deep indeed. Martynova of Russia is a

:16:01. > :16:09.

:16:09. > :16:13.standing together in the middle. Stand up, please, stand up.

:16:13. > :16:23.unmistakable tones of Alan Bell, the starter. Not happy with the

:16:23. > :16:29.

:16:29. > :16:35.under way. When you were talking about the last heat, you said there

:16:35. > :16:39.were a lot of quality athletes in there. There are tonnes in this one.

:16:39. > :16:46.There certainly are. I was a little bit nervous about Hannah England,

:16:47. > :16:49.she has had a troubled approach to this Olympic Games. Lisa Dobriskey

:16:49. > :16:56.wasn't at her best in the trials and has also had a troubled

:16:56. > :17:00.approach. But I am feeling more confident, the reports are coming

:17:00. > :17:04.back from the training camp that she is flying. The World

:17:04. > :17:08.Championships silver medallist from 2009. When she is in good form, she

:17:08. > :17:13.has a lethal finish. Running in heats, running in crowds, having

:17:13. > :17:18.these people around her, not running too quickly because there

:17:18. > :17:26.are always going to the dangers. The Ethiopian athlete is strong,

:17:26. > :17:36.she is going to be good. Lisa Dobriskey, I am very confident of.

:17:36. > :17:42.

:17:42. > :17:47.Fernandez Leeds, Hilali in second moment, slower than the first heat.

:17:47. > :17:53.Lisa Dobriskey won't want to get settled too much at this pace,

:17:53. > :17:59.right in the middle of the pack, otherwise accidents could happen.

:17:59. > :18:03.You are absolutely right. Another of the British athletes who likes

:18:03. > :18:07.the short way around on the inside. The coach always says keep to the

:18:07. > :18:12.inside lane if you can. But with 10 athletes around you, that can be

:18:12. > :18:17.difficult. Lisa has the ability and the speed. Therefore if you are in

:18:17. > :18:22.good form, you are also going to have the confidence. You don't have

:18:22. > :18:31.to worry much about setting a pace or anything. That is an advantage

:18:31. > :18:38.in distance running. Two laps to go. 2:07 at the end of a lap and three-

:18:38. > :18:48.quarters. The Kenyan, running wide at the moment. Fernandez still

:18:48. > :18:53.leads. Cakir Alptekin is still there. Dobriskey is trapped on the

:18:53. > :19:03.kerb but she is looking comfortable. This is where you have to find

:19:03. > :19:03.

:19:03. > :19:07.yourself ready for when the bell the front. She has a long, loping

:19:08. > :19:11.stride and she is shrugging off athletes around her. You don't want

:19:11. > :19:16.to be clipped from behind because you could fall and you have no

:19:16. > :19:21.chance. It is about finding the right place to make a move. Lisa is

:19:21. > :19:25.terribly boxed in there but she is staying confident and cool and once

:19:25. > :19:30.again she is finding the route onto the inside. She is going to try to

:19:30. > :19:34.get a more clear run as they come up. They will hear the bell in a

:19:34. > :19:38.few seconds. There are too many for comfort, Lisa is at the back of the

:19:38. > :19:48.group, I think she has to bide her time and try to run the sensible

:19:48. > :19:48.

:19:48. > :19:54.finish. McKnight, the Australian, making a bid. The Russian is

:19:54. > :20:00.stranded way back and Dobriskey has made her move. She is up into 5th,

:20:00. > :20:06.or alongside Fernandez. McKnight, the Australian, having a very good

:20:06. > :20:15.race. 200 metres to go. Lisa Dobriskey moves up on the shoulder

:20:15. > :20:19.of Fernandez and goes past the bar Iranian as well. Listen to the raw!

:20:19. > :20:29.Lisa Dobriskey is producing just the right tactic at just the right

:20:29. > :20:34.time. Cakir Alptekin, coming down the inside. And Lisa Dobriskey

:20:34. > :20:44.majestically strides home. Hilali, Dobriskey, Cakir Alptekin,

:20:44. > :20:50.Fernandez and McKnight. Not a fast winning time. That looked extremely

:20:50. > :20:55.good, off a slow pace. Lisa doesn't worry about slower paces. Martynova

:20:55. > :21:01.was finishing strongly. Lisa Dobriskey, it sounds like an

:21:01. > :21:06.Olympic final here! The crowd are really taking to it. Lisa looks

:21:06. > :21:11.relaxed. She is really happy with that. She was looking good, she was

:21:11. > :21:16.always looking for the easy way through. Martynova of Russia down

:21:16. > :21:26.the back straight was giving them a bit of a chance. Lisa Dobriskey, a

:21:26. > :21:27.

:21:27. > :21:30.very slow race. I am sure the crowd helped her in the finishing

:21:30. > :21:36.straight and her response was fantastic. She has the speed and

:21:36. > :21:39.she is good enough and she is confident again. She has been World

:21:39. > :21:45.Championships silver medallist. She is on her way to the Olympic semi-

:21:45. > :21:50.final. Having that run under about will stand her in really good stead.

:21:50. > :21:57.She just nips over the line, McKnight leading into the finishing

:21:57. > :22:02.straight but all eyes were on at least a Dobriskey. -- on Lisa

:22:02. > :22:12.Dobriskey. I am sure she will tell us about the race in her inimitable

:22:12. > :22:15.

:22:15. > :22:20.she was doing enough. She was doing it comfortably. She is relaxing

:22:20. > :22:26.there, she has enjoyed this stage. 80,000 people cheering you for the

:22:26. > :22:36.heats of the women's 1500 metres must be a fantastic experience and

:22:36. > :22:36.

:22:36. > :22:40.she responds to experience. She We know that Lisa is a big-time

:22:40. > :22:44.perform on these kind of stages, you have done it before, the

:22:44. > :22:47.Commonwealth Games, the World Championships, 4th at the last

:22:47. > :22:52.Olympics and you to do it like a duck to water. The noise from the

:22:52. > :22:58.crowd saw you home. Definitely, it was unbelievable. I needed to bury

:22:58. > :23:03.some demons from last year. I found it hard to trust my body again. I

:23:03. > :23:07.make Upsall -- all sorts of batten injuries and issues. I am really

:23:07. > :23:11.pleased -- all sorts of phantom injuries. Training has gone well in

:23:11. > :23:17.Portugal but it is another thing to put it into practice. Absolutely. I

:23:17. > :23:20.have been doubting my speed and my kick. To have a slow race, I was

:23:20. > :23:28.terrified of the first couple of laps, I thought it would not go my

:23:28. > :23:32.way. I feel so much better to have dealt with that. I can have a lot

:23:32. > :23:42.more confidence in my kit and my speed, I am really pleased. See you

:23:42. > :23:54.

:23:54. > :23:58.in the next round, well done. Lisa is through, Hannah it is

:23:58. > :24:05.through, and Laura Weightman goes in the third and final heat under

:24:05. > :24:10.the guidance of Steve Cram. Let's Being here and seeing the big names

:24:10. > :24:20.of the team, it gives me a lot of want and passion to push on and do

:24:20. > :24:26.

:24:26. > :24:30.more. I am lucky, to be in this You have Steve Cram bleeding you

:24:31. > :24:37.through this, it must be invaluable for him -- leading you through this.

:24:37. > :24:41.It is brilliant. He has had a huge impact on me and I have had a lot

:24:41. > :24:46.to thank him for for getting me to where I am. The time and effort he

:24:46. > :24:51.has put him with me. We are seeing the results of that. It is the

:24:51. > :24:55.beginning of what I really think I can do in the future. 1500 metres

:24:55. > :24:59.is a tough event and in world terms, it is very strong, some girls that

:24:59. > :25:07.have run very fast. But I do believe I am strong enough and can

:25:07. > :25:14.progress through those rounds and On my notes, it says she is coached

:25:14. > :25:21.by Steve Cram, brackets world champion in 1983. A long time ago?

:25:21. > :25:26.Yeah, yeah, yeah, OK. It has been fun, she has been working really

:25:26. > :25:36.hard, she deserves to be here. Some athletes are very easy to coach,

:25:36. > :26:10.

:26:11. > :26:17.brilliant job with her, what were your instructions and what was it

:26:17. > :26:27.about in the build-up to this? thank you. Dino, Laura has a lot of

:26:27. > :26:29.

:26:29. > :26:33.what I would call a natural racing too much. Because this is what she

:26:33. > :26:38.has worked for. She wanted desperately to get to the Olympic

:26:38. > :26:41.Games. Now she is going to try to run as well as she can, she is up

:26:42. > :26:46.against some great athletes. At the Olympics, everybody is good, but

:26:46. > :26:50.don't look at the times on the start list. Like an England said.

:26:50. > :26:55.You have to see it as another race, 14 athletes against you. Some you

:26:55. > :26:58.have heard of, some you haven't. Even the ones you have not are a

:26:58. > :27:04.danger. You have got to be ready for anything. It could be slowed,

:27:04. > :27:11.it could be fast. It is up to the athlete to make the right decisions.

:27:11. > :27:14.Morgan Uceny, she went to the World Championships as the world number

:27:14. > :27:19.one and she fell in the final. You cannot predict what is going to

:27:19. > :27:25.happen. It is almost pointless as a coach to say, do this, do that.

:27:25. > :27:32.you nervous? Yes. Probably not quite as nervous as she might be.

:27:32. > :27:42.But it is a good nervousness. This woman here will be a big danger,

:27:42. > :27:53.

:27:53. > :28:00.Kostetskaya, she used to be a 400- talent. She will be another one to

:28:00. > :28:05.watch. These heats ASO had stacked with experience and quick athletes.

:28:05. > :28:10.-- these heats are so stacked. I am wondering, surely they know what to

:28:10. > :28:14.do. There are six fastest loser spots available which means 12

:28:14. > :28:18.could go through if it was quick enough. About four minutes seven

:28:18. > :28:25.would be good enough if you're not in the top six. You could go down

:28:25. > :28:30.to four minutes 12 and you would scrape through in 7th. Laura is

:28:30. > :28:34.sitting at the back, keeping an eye on things, not a bad place to be.

:28:34. > :28:38.She will be getting nervous. That is what we used to talk about. You

:28:38. > :28:42.would talk about being in a position where somebody can bring

:28:42. > :28:48.you down. You said she had a natural racing brain and that is

:28:48. > :28:53.the best position to be in at this pace. It is not a fast pace. Two

:28:53. > :28:58.years ago, Laura Weightman was winning the English Schools

:28:58. > :29:01.Championship. Here she is, the Olympic Games. 80,000 people in the

:29:01. > :29:11.stadium cheering her on. What a fantastic sport athletics can be,

:29:11. > :29:15.

:29:15. > :29:20.a little more pace here. You want to get rid of the nerves and

:29:20. > :29:30.getting to the pace. When it is like this, the nerves continued to

:29:30. > :29:35.

:29:35. > :29:39.build. By Zoe Buckman there is going past Mishchenko. The former

:29:39. > :29:44.world junior champion over on the far side, and Laura Weightman just

:29:44. > :29:54.tucked in there at the moment. Morgan is Saini is in a good

:29:54. > :29:59.

:29:59. > :30:07.position. And Dibaba, the younger sister of Dibaba who won there race

:30:07. > :30:12.the other night. Highly Gebrselassie sort this girl

:30:12. > :30:18.training in his gym and persuaded her to set down from the 5,000m to

:30:18. > :30:24.the 1,500m. His advice has been paying off, and she is running

:30:24. > :30:28.extremely well at the 1,500m. Kipyegon around the top bend, and

:30:28. > :30:32.the pace is beginning to gather. There is a big push on at the front

:30:32. > :30:39.from Kipyegon. Laura Weightman will have to try and keep in contact

:30:39. > :30:49.here as they start to move away. Dibaba is just in behind, by letter,

:30:49. > :31:02.

:31:02. > :31:05.Bulut. She has got to run a fast and strong last lap. Laura

:31:05. > :31:15.Weightman can see seven runners ahead of her, so she has got to

:31:15. > :31:22.

:31:22. > :31:27.keep driving. She has got a good last 200. Kipyegon looks as though

:31:27. > :31:33.she is struggling now. Laura Weightman needs to pull herself up

:31:33. > :31:40.into position to have a chance and the home straight. Kipyegon on the

:31:40. > :31:50.inside. She is diving in, but it is going to be tough here, fighting

:31:50. > :31:51.

:31:51. > :32:01.for this position. Bulut will get there, carry a over will make it. -

:32:01. > :32:06.- Kareiva. I can't tell everybody how pleased you are now! She picked

:32:06. > :32:15.them off one by one, kept going, and had to dig deep again in the

:32:15. > :32:18.finishing straight. I was surprised there. There is Laura Weightman

:32:18. > :32:28.waving to the crowd. She will get the accolade, and she should enjoy

:32:28. > :32:34.this. This was great. There are seven athletes their head of hack

:32:34. > :32:41.at this point. Dibaba looking comfortable there. But then she

:32:41. > :32:46.suddenly fades and goes backwards in the pack. And watch Laura

:32:46. > :32:51.Weightman now, she is 7th coming into the straight. She is working

:32:51. > :32:57.hard, knows she has got to do this, and she has got to pick one of

:32:57. > :33:02.these athletes in the finishing straight. You can't wait on times

:33:02. > :33:07.at this point. Then suddenly she just to accelerate at that point,

:33:07. > :33:12.and will be mightily relieved, and we are extremely impressed, and

:33:12. > :33:19.Steve Cram, her coach, is absolutely delighted. Her first

:33:19. > :33:28.Olympic Games, and it certainly won't be her last. It is a really

:33:28. > :33:38.good test. There she is, up into 6th. Well done, Laura Weightman.

:33:38. > :33:38.

:33:38. > :33:45.You are on this grand stage for the first time, and he delivered

:33:45. > :33:51.superbly. I am really pleased to get in the top six. It was quite a

:33:51. > :33:57.tough race, it kept changing and chopping. I was glad to come down

:33:57. > :34:02.the home straight and get the sixth slot. The crowd is unbelievable.

:34:02. > :34:08.Did that settle you? What was it like? When my Name That announced,

:34:08. > :34:11.it was a brilliant feeling. I try not to panic, just to stay calm. I

:34:11. > :34:19.wanted to work my way through the field, and I knew they would come

:34:19. > :34:29.back to me. If you could hold this might just for one second, somebody

:34:29. > :34:29.

:34:29. > :34:33.wants to have a quick word. Well done, Laura. That was hard! You had

:34:33. > :34:40.me worried for a little bit. The nerves start to build when it was

:34:40. > :34:46.that slow. It felt shocking, but I just kept calm, and I think my last

:34:46. > :34:50.200 was the best 200 of the race. That's we tour -- that's what we

:34:50. > :35:00.have talked about, being strong in the home straight. See you later.

:35:00. > :35:04.

:35:04. > :35:08.Thanks a lot, Laura. Thank you very much. One or two surprises in there.

:35:08. > :35:17.Kareiva ran really well, and also Belete getting through. Both of

:35:17. > :35:21.them ran season's bests. Laura Weightman is through. Great to see

:35:21. > :35:31.three British women through to the semi-finals. But it will be tougher

:35:31. > :35:44.

:35:44. > :35:54.The athletes in 7th and 8th, Zoe Buckman included, are rewarded with

:35:54. > :35:59.

:35:59. > :36:08.fastest losers' spots. The outstanding talent for the

:36:08. > :36:18.world this year in men's discuss, Robert Harting. He was Germany's

:36:18. > :36:36.

:36:36. > :36:46.highest placed athlete in any final. have got two Britons in this round,

:36:46. > :36:56.Buhari and Okoye. Harting hasn't wasted any time in making his mark

:36:56. > :37:00.

:37:00. > :37:05.on this competition. Magnificent. Abdul Buhari in the second round.

:37:05. > :37:11.Looked a little tight on that one. It goes spinning away. That is

:37:11. > :37:17.better, but at the moment, the qualifying conditions are that

:37:17. > :37:27.anybody who wants to make it through to the final, they are

:37:27. > :37:28.

:37:29. > :37:38.going to have to throw in excess of 63 metres, 63.40. It is a slight

:37:39. > :37:53.

:37:53. > :37:57.improvement, but he needs a lot in store for us this time? He had a

:37:57. > :38:07.real shocker in the first round. Come on, Lawrence. Show us what

:38:07. > :38:14.

:38:14. > :38:21.technique in the world, but it is over 60m. That Green Line super

:38:21. > :38:26.imposed on the turf there, a television line, not an action line

:38:26. > :38:33.-- not an actual line, but it shows how far you have to throw to

:38:33. > :38:43.qualify. It is still 63.40. That looks tantalisingly close, but just

:38:43. > :38:47.

:38:47. > :38:53.under. 63 metres exactly. He is in excitement I couldn't add up

:38:53. > :39:03.earlier on, so here is everybody that is through for the women's

:39:03. > :39:05.

:39:05. > :39:10.1,500m. It was four from the first heat. The letter, a bit of a

:39:10. > :39:17.surprise there, and Lucy van Dalen from New Zealand makes it through.

:39:17. > :39:24.This is the last page here. Three British women through. And last

:39:24. > :39:29.year's world champion, Jennifer Simpson, scrapes through. Those are

:39:29. > :39:35.the 24 Women going to Wednesday's semi-finals. One of the surprises

:39:35. > :39:45.there was the world indoor champion Dibaba, who tightened up terribly.

:39:45. > :39:45.

:39:45. > :39:49.She is just holding her leg there. She had to be helped off. I didn't

:39:49. > :39:54.hear of her carrying a problem coming into these Olympic Games.

:39:54. > :39:58.She was running OK in the middle of the race, and then something went

:39:58. > :40:08.wrong for her. That is a shame, because Ethiopia had very high

:40:08. > :40:20.

:40:20. > :40:24.Estonia. The defending Olympic champion is in serious trouble of

:40:24. > :40:33.being eliminated from the competition. He really got hold of

:40:33. > :40:40.that one. Well, those celebrations not because it is a gold-medal

:40:40. > :40:44.winning throw, but just because he finally got one. He taps himself on

:40:44. > :40:52.the head and says, why on earth didn't I do that in the first

:40:52. > :40:56.round? It must have been an agonising wait for his coach. Must

:40:56. > :41:04.have been tearing his hair out. That is one of the longest throws

:41:04. > :41:14.we have seen so far this morning. 66.39. Now, come on, Abdul, you

:41:14. > :41:30.

:41:30. > :41:33.the 60m line. He won't qualify for the final. He gave up a very good

:41:33. > :41:38.job in order to concentrate on trying to qualify for they Olympics,

:41:38. > :41:46.and having got here, wanted desperately to qualify for the

:41:46. > :41:51.final. That is his best throw, 60.08, 27th place.

:41:51. > :41:55.Lawrence Okoye now needs 63.47 metres in order to make it through

:41:55. > :41:59.to the final, otherwise we will have had three discus throwers here

:41:59. > :42:09.for the very first time in the same year, and none of them will have

:42:09. > :42:31.

:42:31. > :42:41.athlete in trouble. I don't like his technique. He explodes out

:42:41. > :42:41.

:42:41. > :42:45.towards that qualifying line. The top of two throats this morning,

:42:45. > :42:52.Kanter and Harting, they put on a fine display, both of them throwing

:42:52. > :43:00.over 66 metres. Abdul Buhari with his last throw, his best, over 60m,

:43:00. > :43:06.but not good enough to go to this high quality final. 63.15, that is

:43:07. > :43:11.not far enough, either. But this now is all about Lawrence Okoye A.

:43:11. > :43:16.He has looked a bit subdued this morning. Maybe the experience has

:43:16. > :43:26.got to am a little bit. At his best, he threw a new British record of

:43:26. > :43:36.

:43:36. > :43:44.well over 68 metres. Now, what has his coach, hasn't been well all

:43:44. > :43:51.year. But that could have given him a huge shot of adrenalin. Well done,

:43:51. > :43:55.this huge young man, Lawrence Okoye. What a fantastic effort. And all of

:43:55. > :44:03.a sudden he may have put himself in the frame to be a potential

:44:03. > :44:09.medallist. He got off to a shocking start this morning, but finally, in

:44:09. > :44:19.the third and final round, it has all come good. He is an Olympic

:44:19. > :44:27.

:44:27. > :44:34.have seen this morning. I was in Portugal, I had met him once before,

:44:34. > :44:44.and was chatting to him. He is a gentle giant, a lovely, lovely guy.

:44:44. > :44:50.

:44:50. > :44:55.make the final. We were discussing him in the studio here. He is a

:44:55. > :44:58.great rugby player. Had he not made the final, would he have even

:44:59. > :45:04.stayed in the sport? We have managed to get a footballer, a

:45:04. > :45:10.rugby player, we are doing quite well! What great scenes, I am so

:45:11. > :45:15.delighted. Like Paul Dickenson said, men's throwing has struggled, and

:45:15. > :45:22.to have three guys here, this one in particular has so much talent,

:45:22. > :45:31.bags of it. To be able to reproduce something like his best in the

:45:31. > :45:36.qualifications to get into that much it means and how much pressure

:45:36. > :45:40.the athletes are under. He has given up a lot to commit himself to

:45:40. > :45:44.get into this stage and he has delivered it. On the biggest stage

:45:44. > :45:49.ever, the Olympic qualifying round, now he is an Olympic finalist, he

:45:49. > :45:54.can hold his head up high. I am hoping he will relax and embrace

:45:54. > :45:58.the situation he is in. He knows he can float the discus a long way.

:45:58. > :46:02.Many other competitors may tighten Many other competitors may tighten

:46:02. > :46:05.up. If he can produce that, you never know what might happen.

:46:05. > :46:10.4th best throw in the world this year so if he hits it on the

:46:10. > :46:15.night... He is in with a chance. The other fascinating thing that we

:46:15. > :46:19.noticed when Steve Cram was chatting with Laura Weightman, Phil

:46:19. > :46:24.Jones gave her the good sense and she thought, what is going on? And

:46:24. > :46:29.she changed, her demeanour changed, the coach athlete relationship,

:46:29. > :46:35.amazing to see. It was like we were flies on the wall, overhearing a

:46:35. > :46:39.personal conversation. It is great, Steve Cram, what an inspiration, to

:46:39. > :46:46.have that in your corner. Somebody who has been there and has done it,

:46:46. > :46:51.who can inspire you to think tactically and run well. I adore

:46:51. > :46:55.Laura, I think she is so mature for her age and she clearly responds to

:46:55. > :47:01.being in this type of environment. Three women through to the semi-

:47:01. > :47:04.finals, great news. Excellent news for women's middle-distance running,

:47:04. > :47:08.Kelly Holmes has inspired a generation and here they are,

:47:08. > :47:12.proving it. Let's look back at this morning's session, because that

:47:12. > :47:14.pretty much finishers the action in the Olympic Stadium. Lots of

:47:14. > :47:18.the Olympic Stadium. Lots of questions about the fitness of

:47:18. > :47:22.Tiffany Porter and I think she answered them. Like Usain Bolt did

:47:22. > :47:27.last night, she came up with the goods. She did a very good job. Out

:47:27. > :47:31.on her own, it was like a training run for her. She could see nobody

:47:31. > :47:37.until the late stage in her peripheral vision. She knew she had

:47:37. > :47:40.qualified and that was the most important thing. In terms of the

:47:40. > :47:49.overall qualification, Sally Pearson stood out head and

:47:49. > :47:53.shoulders, but the rest... rest... Denise could have qualified.

:47:53. > :47:55.It is a really poor standard to get through to the semi-final. At the

:47:55. > :47:59.through to the semi-final. At the top end, you will still be very

:47:59. > :48:04.competitive, don't worry about that. competitive, don't worry about that.

:48:04. > :48:11.Next on track, the men's 800 metres heats. Osagie was up early, he had

:48:11. > :48:15.David Rudisha in his heat and he just got it on the line. 800 metres

:48:15. > :48:18.is always tough. You have to make is always tough. You have to make

:48:18. > :48:28.sure you stay in contention, redraw opponents well, but try to stick to

:48:28. > :48:28.

:48:28. > :48:35.a race plan. He got him by the skin of his teeth. -- read your

:48:35. > :48:41.opponents well. Polly Bleasdale has come in under the radar, she is not

:48:41. > :48:43.one of the big names but she has a real opportunity -- Holly Bleasdale.

:48:43. > :48:48.She has announced herself as someone who could sneak into the

:48:48. > :48:53.medals, she has so much more developing to do, it would be

:48:53. > :48:57.really great if she could translate some of the high distances into an

:48:57. > :49:07.Olympic performance. A massive moment for Holly Bleasdale, let's

:49:07. > :49:13.

:49:13. > :49:17.hear her thoughts ahead of an When I was watching Beijing, I

:49:18. > :49:22.didn't really know what pole vault was, I hadn't even started properly.

:49:23. > :49:27.It is weird that I am here and the athletes I used to watch on TV are

:49:27. > :49:32.chatting to me. We are chilling out and it is really nice and I am so

:49:32. > :49:36.excited to be able to compete in an Olympics, I can't wait. It has been

:49:36. > :49:40.a stellar ride. I had a great indoor season. For me, that was

:49:40. > :49:44.about jumping as high as I could. I knew that the pressure would be on

:49:44. > :49:48.leading up to the Olympics. I thought that the outside -- outdoor

:49:48. > :49:52.season was about competing with the rest of the girls. When I went to

:49:52. > :49:56.Monaco I wasn't really looking for a big height, it was like an

:49:56. > :50:00.Olympic final and I was competing against the rest of the girls. I

:50:00. > :50:04.feel like I held my own and took a lot of confidence. What will

:50:04. > :50:09.success before you? Because I am still young, I don't want to use

:50:09. > :50:13.that as an excuse, but I want to enjoy it and lap up the experience.

:50:13. > :50:18.I have never had anything like this. To become in the top eight, top six,

:50:18. > :50:25.would be where I wanted but above that will be a bonus. I just want

:50:25. > :50:29.to experience it and enjoy it. Holly Bleasdale attempting 4.55,

:50:29. > :50:34.second attempt, and she got it. A great performance by the British

:50:34. > :50:37.record holder. If you could put it into words what it means to be at

:50:37. > :50:41.these Games, if somebody said you would be a London Olympian and a

:50:41. > :50:47.finalist and people would talk of you as a medal contender... I can't

:50:47. > :50:51.put it into words. To be wearing a GB kit, I feel so privileged. I

:50:51. > :50:55.want to do everyone proud and enjoy it it will be a once-in-a-lifetime

:50:55. > :50:59.experience. You can't put anything else near to what I it will

:50:59. > :51:09.experience. It means the world to be able to compete in front of a

:51:09. > :51:33.

:51:33. > :51:37.Dai Greene, Colin. A huge shock for him a couple of nights ago, when he

:51:38. > :51:44.struggled to make the final of the 400 metres finals. What will his

:51:44. > :51:49.mind set be? He is a positive thinker. -- the final of the 400m

:51:49. > :51:53.hurdles. He will think, I can compete against these guys and do a

:51:53. > :51:57.good job. He has beaten the majority of them this year. The

:51:57. > :52:02.question is, can he go much faster than he has gone so far this year?

:52:02. > :52:08.To me, that is the only concern he needs to have at this moment in

:52:08. > :52:13.time. Will he accelerate up to the guys? We will have the answer lay

:52:13. > :52:20.to this effect. Denise, he has to just go out as hard as he can, try

:52:20. > :52:30.to put those doubts out of his mind and concern sea had. I think so.

:52:30. > :52:30.

:52:30. > :52:37.We are used to seeing him in the lead but at the same time, his time

:52:37. > :52:41.was not bad, it is just that the other guys were quicker. He does

:52:41. > :52:47.not want to leave the track thinking he could have worked

:52:47. > :52:55.harder. He has to just attack it. That is it for this morning's

:52:55. > :53:04.session. It ended perfectly with Okoye making the final of the

:53:04. > :53:14.discus. For the moment, back to you. We hope to hear from Lawrence

:53:14. > :53:15.

:53:15. > :53:19.You can bet about 3 million people down under will be watching,

:53:19. > :53:23.because the New Zealander has not been beaten since 2007. I note that

:53:23. > :53:33.the Kiwis are 10 places above the Kiwis are 10 places above

:53:33. > :53:54.

:53:54. > :53:59.Australia on the medal table right Overall, a far greater number of

:53:59. > :54:03.medals, but the quality of them is not quite as high for Australia.

:54:03. > :54:08.The last time New Zealand finished ahead of the Australians was

:54:08. > :54:12.Montreal 76. Everybody is getting very excited down there. One of the

:54:12. > :54:16.surprise hits of these games, as everyone has clamoured to get a

:54:16. > :54:20.ticket for anything in here, has been the handball competition.

:54:20. > :54:25.Great Britain had never appeared in Olympic handball until these Games

:54:25. > :54:30.in London. It is a game which emerged in Scandinavia and Germany

:54:30. > :54:35.in the 1890s, it is hugely popular there. Judging by the atmosphere in

:54:35. > :54:38.the Copper Box, it is fast catching on here, too. Reggie Yates has been

:54:38. > :54:42.checking out what they are calling the box that rocks.

:54:42. > :54:47.It doesn't really get much more vain than this. Don't judge me.

:54:47. > :54:51.Today actually isn't about me, it is about a brand new sport on my

:54:51. > :54:56.radar. I like to find something brand new and obsess over it. This

:54:56. > :55:06.time around it has been handball. Everyone is talking about it. The

:55:06. > :55:09.

:55:09. > :55:14.Copper Box has literally been Look at this. Here is a masterclass

:55:14. > :55:18.on feeling short. You guys are more than experts when it comes to

:55:18. > :55:22.handball, you actually play it, how good will today be for someone who

:55:22. > :55:26.has never been to anything like this? It will be brilliant. The

:55:26. > :55:30.game is fast, exciting, dynamic. We are going do have a really good

:55:30. > :55:34.game today. As somebody who has never watched anything like this,

:55:34. > :55:38.am I going to enjoy it? organisers have done a perfect job,

:55:38. > :55:45.making this arena, it is really noisy and a great atmosphere.

:55:45. > :55:54.get in and see it. Why is this so addictive? I think

:55:54. > :55:58.it is the pace and the aggression. Do you think there is a chance that

:55:58. > :56:03.this might inspire a few people to get involved? Definitely. That is

:56:03. > :56:07.the reason we are here, to inspire the next generation in the UK. This

:56:07. > :56:12.is the perfect opportunity to springboards bought into the public

:56:12. > :56:21.consciousness. -- to springboard the sport into the public

:56:21. > :56:25.consciousness. It is awesome, I Apparently on the other side of

:56:25. > :56:32.this door, the Team GB ladies handball team are warming down. It

:56:32. > :56:38.sounds incredible. There they are, shall we say hello? This is a bit

:56:38. > :56:42.awkward. Hello. Well done, that was incredible. This is the first time

:56:42. > :56:45.I have watched a handball game and I am still trying to get my head

:56:45. > :56:49.around the fact that so many people are talking about handball. How

:56:49. > :56:53.does it feel to know there is that much support. It is phenomenal. The

:56:53. > :56:56.noise when we walk out, and when we score, it is amazing. I hope that

:56:56. > :57:01.even if we can inspire one or two people to play, that is what we

:57:01. > :57:09.want to do and that is why we are here. Do you want to have a shot?

:57:09. > :57:19.what? We will put a goalkeeper in. Yeah, let's do that. I am going to

:57:19. > :57:35.

:57:35. > :57:39.miss this. Come on. Why did I make It is official, I am awful at

:57:39. > :57:46.Hamble and when I try to score, I make a noise by -- like a dying

:57:46. > :57:56.rodent. Don't judge -- I am awful at hand ball. These lot are amazing,

:57:56. > :57:57.

:57:57. > :58:04.The last of the pool matches for great Britain's men takes place at

:58:04. > :58:08.4:15pm, they play Iceland. They it won an amazing surprise silver

:58:08. > :58:14.medal four years ago and the Icelandic Prime Minister so foot --

:58:14. > :58:17.called it the most significant moment in Icelandic sport. The

:58:17. > :58:21.second week in the Olympic Games is always when the team competitions

:58:21. > :58:26.tend to come to the boil at the Games. That is the case in the

:58:26. > :58:30.hockey. In the women's event, we have the last of the pool games and

:58:30. > :58:34.the Riverbank Arena was a very lively place to be, even at 8:30am.

:58:34. > :58:38.A place in the semi-final stages was at stake in the match between

:58:38. > :58:42.the black sticks of New Zealand, and Germany. The Kiwis needed just

:58:42. > :58:52.a win. The Germans were quiet a high-scoring victory to have a

:58:52. > :58:55.chance of progressing. -- the Germans required. Our colleagues at

:58:55. > :59:05.Channel line of Australia were there are bright and early --

:59:05. > :59:14.

:59:14. > :59:24.in fact Germany are wearing the Zealand, they like to start really

:59:24. > :59:33.

:59:33. > :59:42.quickly, really fast, get the early to be finished? No, it is not. They

:59:42. > :59:48.just couldn't get the finish. just miscued it, Charlotte Harrison.

:59:48. > :59:55.She got to do cross, had a touch on it. If Germany are going to win

:59:55. > :00:01.this today, they do need to change their game plan. Oh, look at this

:00:01. > :00:09.big chancier. Great goalkeeping. Charlotte Harrison couldn't get the

:00:09. > :00:15.shot away. What a Panter -- fantastic piece of keeping.

:00:15. > :00:25.Sensational. She came out, narrowed the angle, made this mother, and

:00:25. > :00:29.

:00:29. > :00:38.then had a second go at it. -- made there smother. You have to say,

:00:38. > :00:48.that is a gilt edged opportunity. Really, really good. Melanie Cooper

:00:48. > :00:49.

:00:49. > :00:54.on the reverse stick. Still, the Kiwis have it back. And a penalty

:00:54. > :01:04.corner. The umpire originally signalled at the other way, but

:01:04. > :01:05.

:01:05. > :01:15.good co-operation between the umpires. You can see it here. She

:01:15. > :01:26.

:01:26. > :01:34.put it on to the foot, and just got deflection from Jana Flynn. She got

:01:34. > :01:44.down, but didn't make any contact with the ball. Oh, it was so close,

:01:44. > :01:51.but Amis in the end. A chance here. And the New Zealanders got a free

:01:51. > :01:59.hit. Fabulous goalkeeping by Bianca Russell. Doesn't get much better

:01:59. > :02:05.than that. The 34-year-old veteran saved New Zealand. Some Harrison

:02:05. > :02:12.was there, but a way back, and for some reason, wasn't advancing on

:02:12. > :02:19.the golf. And guess she was waiting to see how far back it would come.

:02:19. > :02:27.That great save again by Russell, and then they had another go at it.

:02:27. > :02:37.Marlowe once more. A good Pickup. A penalty corner, and New Zealand

:02:37. > :02:58.

:02:58. > :03:02.have a powerful drag flick, they score more of the rebounds. That is

:03:02. > :03:07.easy for a goalkeeper to make that saved.

:03:07. > :03:17.This is a big occasion for New Zealand. They have never played

:03:17. > :03:19.

:03:19. > :03:24.women's hockey at the Olympic Games. Now, the umpire will call for a

:03:24. > :03:30.video of that. The Germans are celebrating, they think they got a

:03:30. > :03:36.touch. This is the umpire's referral. Germany have gone back to

:03:36. > :03:40.the middle, they are certain that it has been touched. Oh, it might

:03:40. > :03:48.have been a fine touch there. It looked like a stick was very close

:03:48. > :03:52.to the ball. Super slow-motion. Did it touch? You can't tell from there.

:03:52. > :04:02.The umpire will have a few different angles to be able to make

:04:02. > :04:02.

:04:02. > :04:12.the assessment. No advice possible. Goal denied. There is a bit of a

:04:12. > :04:17.

:04:17. > :04:27.of goal, and Germany have a penalty corner. Just off the feet of Emily

:04:27. > :04:52.

:04:52. > :05:01.again, but it wasn't going into the variation here from Germany.

:05:01. > :05:11.Russell was diving down to reflect it away again. The New Zealand

:05:11. > :05:18.

:05:18. > :05:26.defence was resolute. Lovely ball! And just put over the top by stifle.

:05:26. > :05:31.A great trap again from Natasha Keller. They caught the defence

:05:31. > :05:41.napping. Oh, so close. It was just spinning and spinning, she couldn't

:05:41. > :05:54.

:05:54. > :05:58.the second half so far for New Zealand. There is a question here.

:05:58. > :06:08.There are looking for a penalty corner. It was the leg of the

:06:08. > :06:18.keeper. Was there a German foot after this. It may well have come

:06:18. > :06:28.

:06:28. > :06:38.kicked away. She probably could have even moved in closer. Great

:06:38. > :07:05.

:07:05. > :07:15.deflection. Great keeping. By that And straight at the keeper! That

:07:15. > :07:43.

:07:43. > :07:52.stick. She is so strong on that side. Muller goes for the hit. Then

:07:52. > :08:00.again, off the foot. Look how quickly they got in there. That is

:08:00. > :08:06.the perfect spot. You want an attacker wore a striker in the

:08:07. > :08:15.circle. They're taking the ball from the opposite side, you see

:08:15. > :08:23.this very rarely. On the reverse, and she has put it away, but it is

:08:23. > :08:32.too high. The first hit at Dole has to hit the backboard. And they are

:08:32. > :08:42.saying it has gone out side of the circle twice. That didn't go out.

:08:42. > :08:55.

:08:55. > :09:05.There is a real scramble in there. Terrific shot. That really was a

:09:05. > :09:05.

:09:05. > :09:09.great shot. Crack in, and off the feet again of Mickelson this time.

:09:09. > :09:14.Germany just keep on pressing forward, and New Zealand don't seem

:09:14. > :09:24.to have any answer. This is Germany's 5th penalty corner in 16

:09:24. > :09:31.

:09:31. > :09:40.the stick on the ball. That was very brave defending by New Zealand.

:09:40. > :09:47.She got that and just in the nick of time. Beautifully done here.

:09:47. > :09:57.she couldn't get any purchase on it, the goalkeeper can't find it, they

:09:57. > :10:05.are at sixes and sevens back there. It was just all over the place

:10:05. > :10:11.there. It is tough for the goalkeeper. And that was saved by

:10:11. > :10:21.the keeper, and then the shot was just wide! She did just the right

:10:21. > :10:26.

:10:26. > :10:36.thing, went across the face of goal, instance, and then Mickelson was so

:10:36. > :10:44.

:10:44. > :10:49.close on the post. A New Zealand are through to a semi-final at the

:10:49. > :10:56.Olympic Games for the first time in women's hockey. Congratulations to

:10:56. > :11:04.them, commiserations to Germany. They are going to miss out.

:11:04. > :11:11.Celebrations all round to the New That is a great win for the Kiwis,

:11:11. > :11:20.and Germany, the 2004 Olympic champions, are out. Great Britain's

:11:20. > :11:25.women are playing at 7pm. They have to beat the reigning champions, the

:11:25. > :11:30.Netherlands, or rely on results elsewhere, so they are teetering on

:11:30. > :11:33.the edge. The big night the women's hockey. We were looking at Lawrence

:11:33. > :11:38.Okoye earlier on and his big throaty get through to the discus

:11:38. > :11:42.final. He was reflecting on that a few moments ago.

:11:42. > :11:46.Lawrence, congratulations, you are through to an Olympic final in

:11:46. > :11:52.dramatic circumstances. It was crazy. The standard was

:11:52. > :11:55.unbelievably high. 63.55, much higher than it has ever been. I

:11:55. > :12:01.thought I would have to pull out something big, and the crowd just

:12:01. > :12:05.got me through. I am really pleased. I have just got to go back and rest

:12:05. > :12:09.and make sure I can pull out a big throw in the final. It was good

:12:09. > :12:15.that you could share it with your coach immediately, and we saw the

:12:15. > :12:19.emotion come out. I have got a lot of work to do now to make sure I

:12:19. > :12:23.finished the two years well. I am pleased I can pull it out of the

:12:23. > :12:27.back, but tomorrow is a different story. What do you think you can

:12:27. > :12:32.possibly do in the final? I have just got to throw my best. If I can

:12:32. > :12:37.throw my best, I will be up there. Tremendous performance, well done,

:12:37. > :12:40.thank you. Well-played to Lawrence, and that

:12:40. > :12:45.discus final is tomorrow evening. Great Britain will have a

:12:45. > :12:51.representative in it. We are about to change channels, it is time for

:12:51. > :12:55.the news here on BBC One. We will be over on BBC Two in a few moments.

:12:55. > :13:00.The crowd are being thrown out just now, and another 80,000 will be
