:00:51. > :00:55.Hello again. Another gripping afternoon in store. We are very

:00:55. > :01:01.much looking forward to seeing Beth Tweddle, who has a firm grip in

:01:01. > :01:04.qualification for the uneven bars final. The former world champion's

:01:04. > :01:09.final performance on her favourite apparatus is guaranteed a good spot

:01:09. > :01:15.as she heads into the final. Can she finally land that elusive

:01:15. > :01:20.Olympic medal? Christie and Thomas is also going in the vault. --

:01:20. > :01:23.Kristian Thomas. There is a man who already has a team bronze. We will

:01:23. > :01:28.be live at the North Greenwich arena shortly, but here is what is

:01:28. > :01:33.on offer around the venues. 20 million of youth stayed with us to

:01:33. > :01:39.enjoy the 100 metres final and there is women's boxing if you want

:01:39. > :01:44.to tailor your viewing after that historic day. The sailing continues,

:01:44. > :01:48.and we have Greco-Roman wrestling, and we don't often see that. You're

:01:49. > :01:56.not allowed to catch one another by the legs, it is all about the upper

:01:56. > :02:00.body. 24 streams of action around the parks, and you can do what you

:02:00. > :02:04.fancy. But we have had a good morning of athletics to enjoy in

:02:04. > :02:08.the Olympic Stadium. But a mixed one for Great Britain. Let's review

:02:08. > :02:11.some of the significant moments. Tiffany Porter qualified in the

:02:11. > :02:21.women's 100 metres hurdles and looks like she has put the injury

:02:21. > :02:24.problems behind her, which is good news. Andrew Osagie qualified in

:02:24. > :02:30.the 800 metres but will not be joined by Gareth Warburton or

:02:30. > :02:34.Michael Rimmer in their tough qualification. It was three out of

:02:34. > :02:38.three for Team GB in the 1,500 metres. Laura Weightman

:02:38. > :02:42.particularly impressive in securing her semi-final spot alongside

:02:42. > :02:48.Hannah England and Lisa Dobriskey. We do not know if you call this

:02:48. > :02:55.early on, but what a moment for Lawrence Okoye. Qualifying for the

:02:55. > :03:00.discus final, just going over the 65 metre barrier on his last throw.

:03:00. > :03:04.A wonderful moment for everybody to enjoy in the stadium today. That is

:03:04. > :03:10.performing at your peak in front of a home crowd. A massive throw, and

:03:10. > :03:14.the man from Croydon is in the final tomorrow night. On BBC One,

:03:14. > :03:18.we are concentrating on gymnastics or most of the afternoon, because

:03:18. > :03:21.Beth Tweddle had a race against time just to be fit for London

:03:21. > :03:26.after knee surgery in April, but what a response in qualifying for

:03:26. > :03:31.the final, one of her best-ever performances, and indeed being part

:03:31. > :03:35.of the team a final which saw them finish six. And we saw Louis Smith

:03:35. > :03:39.and Max Whitlock take silver and bronze on the pommel horse, and one

:03:39. > :03:42.thing that struck all this was how much the British gymnasts have

:03:42. > :03:46.upped their game in the atmosphere of the North Greenwich arena. It

:03:46. > :03:52.does not seem to have inhibited them in any way at all. Would you

:03:52. > :03:56.agree with that, Matt Baker? To be honest, I think they have always

:03:56. > :04:01.had the ability and execution but the one thing they have not had his

:04:01. > :04:04.confidence. The belief that they can actually perform on the stage,

:04:04. > :04:09.and suddenly they come out of here with all of this support and it is

:04:09. > :04:14.just incredible. As soon as the gymnasts salute, this place erupts

:04:14. > :04:19.and suddenly there is extra belief and they have just woken up and are

:04:19. > :04:23.nailing it every time. And here we are with three medals. Everyone is

:04:23. > :04:28.thinking we can do well in the sailing and rowing, but here we are

:04:28. > :04:32.on top of the world in gymnastics. And the one at that Beth Tweddle

:04:32. > :04:36.clearly wants his Olympic gold. She would want a medal of any colour

:04:36. > :04:39.because it's not in her collection. Judging by her qualification

:04:39. > :04:44.performance and through the team competition, how do you assess

:04:44. > :04:49.their chances this afternoon? can go into this with confidence.

:04:49. > :04:54.Nobody has scored higher than her in the all-round team competitions,

:04:54. > :05:02.but she has set the high benchmark. But there are some incredible

:05:02. > :05:06.gymnasts in this final, and there is one Chinese girl we think will

:05:06. > :05:10.go for a 7.3 difficulty and we think Beth Tweddle will be around

:05:10. > :05:14.just 7.0. But just to think a step to the side was what cost her a

:05:14. > :05:19.medal in Beijing. I just wanted her to get a medal because she so

:05:19. > :05:25.deserves it. What she has done for British gymnastics is incredible.

:05:25. > :05:28.She has almost been the Captain Cook, if you like, ploughing a path,

:05:28. > :05:34.going into unknown territory and suddenly all the other gymnasts

:05:34. > :05:38.have followed on. She is just truly remarkable and it would be a fairy-

:05:38. > :05:42.tale ending to what has been an incredible career. One of the most

:05:42. > :05:45.important points is that she has been a standard bearer for British

:05:45. > :05:50.gymnastics, and that is so important in what is a subjective

:05:50. > :05:54.judging system, that you see athletes who are established and

:05:54. > :05:58.are therefore able to show the rest of the team at the way. Do you get

:05:59. > :06:01.the feeling that basically the great British gymnasts have earned

:06:01. > :06:06.their stripes in the sense of judging as a consequence of her?

:06:07. > :06:10.doubt about it. People walk out and think, here comes Beth Tweddle,

:06:10. > :06:16.let's stop judging and just have a look at the incredible difficulty

:06:16. > :06:21.she can, with, and she has this dynamic force behind the routines

:06:21. > :06:25.which is mesmerising to watch. And she earns every single medal she

:06:25. > :06:28.has won. But to be honest, when you look at it, you can think of all

:06:29. > :06:36.the world and European title she has won but she has done so much

:06:36. > :06:42.more for gymnastics. And I think everybody wants to see her get

:06:42. > :06:47.that... Can we say gold? Just any medal. It is her and Katherine

:06:47. > :06:50.Grainger coming into the Olympics but everybody wants to see get the

:06:50. > :06:56.gold. If she can go through her routine in get to the end and not

:06:56. > :06:59.step to the side on the dismount and get the medal she deserves.

:06:59. > :07:04.Katherine Grainger did it, and we will be backed Euan about 55

:07:04. > :07:08.minutes. Enjoy it, and I'm sure the atmosphere is building beautifully.

:07:08. > :07:11.Enjoy it for now and we will catch you shortly. But we are heading to

:07:11. > :07:15.Greenwich Park. You will remember the three-day event team claimed a

:07:15. > :07:20.silver medal and chances are coming in the dressage, but right now it

:07:20. > :07:24.is the turn of the showjumping team, led by Nick Skelton. 28 years since

:07:24. > :07:27.Britain last won an Olympic jumping medal and they are lying joint

:07:27. > :07:36.second. Clare is there to see if they can put that right this

:07:36. > :07:40.afternoon. High, Hazel, how are you? Not too shabby. What sort of

:07:40. > :07:43.chances to give Nick Skelton and the team today? A I would give them

:07:43. > :07:47.strong chances. Only eight teams have qualified for the final round

:07:47. > :07:51.and this is where the medals will be decided. It is packed that

:07:51. > :07:55.Greenwich and the crowd have been asked to keep their applause muted

:07:55. > :07:59.when the British riders come in. Do not stamp your feet on the ground,

:07:59. > :08:04.because you'll frighten the horses. The only false Britain have picked

:08:04. > :08:08.up have largely been because Peter Charles's horse and Scott Brash's

:08:08. > :08:13.course have been worried. It is some a reader to come into.

:08:13. > :08:17.Fantastic fence building as well, because they have taken London and

:08:17. > :08:21.maritime history as the theme so there is a cutty Sark fence, a

:08:21. > :08:28.lighthouse, a Greenwich Mean Time house and you can see the Charles

:08:28. > :08:32.Darwin Origin of species theme here, so there is a sense of humour as

:08:32. > :08:35.well as history and Britain's four riders have a really strong chance

:08:35. > :08:40.of a medal here. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are leading at the

:08:40. > :08:44.moment with just one of time fault among the scores they can. Four

:08:44. > :08:47.riders on most of the teams, but Canada only have three because they

:08:47. > :08:53.had a disqualification in controversial circumstances, so the

:08:53. > :08:56.best three scores will count. We are carrying forward four faults so

:08:56. > :09:00.that books as joint second. Germany and did knock -- Germany and France

:09:00. > :09:03.did not qualify. Great Britain have done really well to get to this

:09:03. > :09:12.stage but now they need calm heads and steady nerves and horses with

:09:12. > :09:14.great ability. Nick Skelton definitely has that with Big Star,

:09:15. > :09:19.and Scott Brash has written brilliantly with only one fence

:09:19. > :09:23.down. Peter Charles will be the last rider out. They are a very

:09:23. > :09:29.strong team and could win Great Britain its first showjumping medal

:09:29. > :09:35.since 1984, and possibly a first goal since 1960. So quite exciting

:09:35. > :09:40.here. -- a first goal. It does seem ironic, because you have a Nick

:09:40. > :09:44.Skelton, a veteran going back until 1980 and it seems he has not been

:09:44. > :09:49.able to make the breakthrough given his wonderful pedigree in all the

:09:49. > :09:55.major events in the sport over the last few years. How well deserved

:09:55. > :09:59.might be a medal be for him? Hugely well deserved. But you know his six

:09:59. > :10:05.Olympic Games are nothing compared to Ian Miller, the last rider for

:10:05. > :10:08.Canada, riding at his 10th Olympics. He is 65 years of. His 10th Olympic

:10:08. > :10:15.Games, and you wonder how he could do it. But she will write about

:10:15. > :10:19.Nick Skelton. Lot -- Mary King, it is a bit like that, Nick Skelton

:10:19. > :10:22.broke his neck and thought he could never ride again. He was in a neck

:10:22. > :10:26.brace for a long time and has come back to gentle riding and back to

:10:26. > :10:30.the sport and that is a pretty brave thing to do. You will know

:10:30. > :10:34.his son it is closely involved with the yard of Paul Nicholls in the

:10:34. > :10:38.jump racing, but showjumping is where it really matters for him and

:10:38. > :10:41.a lot of people in the Sport and in the country in general will be

:10:41. > :10:46.hugely pleased if he could win an individual medal and be part of a

:10:46. > :10:50.good team effort for Great Britain. Absolutely. We will be back on BBC

:10:50. > :10:54.Three and enjoy this afternoon. But for now we are nipping back to the

:10:54. > :11:00.north Greenwich arena because it's not just Beth Tweddle in action

:11:00. > :11:07.this afternoon, Kristian Thomas is going in the vaults -- the vault

:11:07. > :11:13.final, but the first is the men's rings. Incredible strength required,

:11:13. > :11:17.and it does make your jaw drop in all. I am not on the rings at the

:11:18. > :11:22.moment, but the gymnasts will be out in a while. Before that I have

:11:22. > :11:25.a Imogen Cairns and Jenifer pinches here who did an incredible job in

:11:25. > :11:31.the women's team final -- Jenny Pinches. How was it down their

:11:31. > :11:37.performing in this incredible arena? Absolutely amazing. I have

:11:37. > :11:40.never experienced a home crowd and I used them to help me. This is the

:11:40. > :11:44.thing. We were having a word with Hazel about how the British

:11:44. > :11:47.gymnasts, you've got the moves and the execution and you just need a

:11:47. > :11:52.little extra push and the feeling of support to be able to support

:11:52. > :11:56.and Jenny, you went out there and rocked this place. Thank you very

:11:57. > :12:00.much. I did have a slip-up at the start but the crowd were all behind

:12:00. > :12:04.me so I came back stronger and proved I could perform on the fork

:12:05. > :12:14.and in the vaults and I got personal best scores. -- on the

:12:14. > :12:17.floor. What are you feeling at the moment? Death is really chilled out

:12:17. > :12:21.and happy and there is nothing more that this girl can be -- Beth

:12:21. > :12:26.Tweddle. This will be the cherry on the top for her. She knows this

:12:26. > :12:30.routine day in day out. She just deserves this. Fingers crossed.

:12:30. > :12:35.we are all behind her and we will talk more about as -- the routine

:12:35. > :12:39.is the final gets closer. But we did find Beth Tweddle's mum and dad,

:12:39. > :12:43.and you have followed her all over the world. Did you think after

:12:43. > :12:47.Beijing you would be standing here now, four years later, watching her

:12:47. > :12:52.go again and fingers crossed, getting a medal? Immediately after,

:12:52. > :12:57.not at all. She had said that was that. But I think the lure of

:12:57. > :13:00.London was too great. For any athlete to the London Games from

:13:00. > :13:04.here is just amazing and the crowds have been phenomenal. One had you

:13:04. > :13:09.been going through in the last week? I have had a great time. I

:13:09. > :13:13.have been putting down a patio with my son and taking my mind off it,

:13:13. > :13:18.so I've had a great time. A lot of support, all the media staff and

:13:18. > :13:23.that has helped us concentrate on other things. And there is the most

:13:23. > :13:30.majestic story about the tickets. Tell us about your mum. The night

:13:30. > :13:33.that the tickets were closing, my mother, who is 85, applied for some

:13:33. > :13:40.tickets and she came up with the two tickets to the final,

:13:40. > :13:45.absolutely fantastic, because we are delighted to get those, and I

:13:45. > :13:50.hope she is watching! I am sure she is. You can give her away.

:13:50. > :13:54.Incredibly, you have got two seats right in front of the a symmetric

:13:54. > :13:59.bars. Yes, right in front of them. I don't know if that's a good or

:13:59. > :14:05.bad thing. But I will be doing a routine with her, as usual. So you

:14:05. > :14:10.will be able to watch, even if it is true split fingers? I do watch,

:14:10. > :14:13.but I pity the person next to me, because they will be watching me do

:14:13. > :14:17.it with her. You said you just hope she could leave the arena having

:14:17. > :14:23.done what she could set out to do, and if a medal is attached, so be

:14:23. > :14:27.it. She just wants to do the routine of her life, and if she

:14:27. > :14:31.gets a medal or not, we will go away as proud parents. You will be

:14:31. > :14:35.incredibly proud anyway because of what she has done. She has done so

:14:35. > :14:39.much and this would be the icing on the cake. But she will be

:14:40. > :14:43.remembered, I hope, for the athletes she has been. Still a bit

:14:43. > :14:48.more time to do any hands behind the back pacing before it starts,

:14:48. > :14:52.so we will let you go. A final word for everyone watching this at home.

:14:52. > :14:56.Everyone will be on the edge of their seed. Lovely to see both. We

:14:56. > :15:06.will let you go, and we will concentrate now on the men's rings

:15:06. > :15:16.

:15:16. > :15:25.final. If you look behind me, the Federico Molinari, champion in 2012.

:15:25. > :15:32.Aleksandr Balandin, in fine fettle. Well, this will be very popular,

:15:32. > :15:38.Matteo Morandi. Four times a bronze medal. Never an Olympic medal. And

:15:38. > :15:48.a young man who has been in the sport, a bit longer than I have!

:15:48. > :15:53.Iordan Iovtchev. Great to see him, in sixth Olympic Games. Tommy Ramos

:15:53. > :16:02.are port Reich co-, and it was an exciting qualifier. There is the

:16:02. > :16:11.young man, Ablyazin, who can tumble and vault especially. Qualified in

:16:11. > :16:21.top three here as well. Arthur Nabarrete Zanetti. From Brazil.

:16:21. > :16:29.

:16:30. > :16:34.Second in the test event in London. So we are all sitting comfortably

:16:34. > :16:42.now, including me, and we are all set and ready for the ultimate

:16:42. > :16:47.event, the Olympic rings. Kicking us off, is probably the ultimate

:16:47. > :16:55.gymnast on this piece of apparatus, the king of strength and difficulty,

:16:55. > :16:59.Execution. It is the reigning Olympic champion on this piece of

:16:59. > :17:04.apparatus. And we look at Yibing Chen, we think he is spsh on rings

:17:04. > :17:09.but he is a good all round gymnast, he is a really good guy to have on

:17:09. > :17:12.your team. It is interesting to see him, and saying that the the

:17:12. > :17:16.Chinese team weren't really as polished as he would like them to

:17:17. > :17:21.be, him being the captain. He said we are going to have to be on fire

:17:21. > :17:30.to get the gold, which they did. Incredible, men's team final and

:17:30. > :17:40.here he is, hoping to retain this Olympic crown that he has got.

:17:40. > :17:45.

:17:45. > :17:54.Immense difficulty here, this is a Four times world rings champion.

:17:54. > :18:00.Amazed. When you look at this guy, the code says you have to show

:18:00. > :18:03.strength, swing, you str to show swing to strength, and this guy is

:18:03. > :18:08.swing to strength, and this guy is just immaculate. Look at that

:18:08. > :18:15.inverted cross. Shoulders well down. Measured in the swing. Kills the

:18:15. > :18:18.top part of the top of it. Look at that. Flops the legs out under him.

:18:18. > :18:25.Holds a perfect cross. Look at the second inverted cross. Shoulders

:18:25. > :18:35.well done. And there is the Maltese. Now he is looking better here than

:18:35. > :18:41.

:18:41. > :18:47.he looked in qualifying. This is Big wind up. Full twist and a

:18:47. > :18:53.double straight with a kick out. That was immaculate. Incredible

:18:53. > :19:00.work from Yibing Chen. Well what a way to start this men's ring final.

:19:00. > :19:04.Look at the scenes here. Goodness, can he get up into the 16s with

:19:04. > :19:07.can he get up into the 16s with that? I really think so. Every

:19:07. > :19:14.department strength, swing to strength, pure swing, it was all

:19:14. > :19:20.nailed, and the dismount was just... The icing on to the cake. Well, he

:19:20. > :19:25.has been the top gymnast in the world, really, has really ruled

:19:25. > :19:29.this apparatus, he wanted, you know, as you said earlier, that wasn't

:19:29. > :19:33.very happy with how the team did. They did well in the final but they

:19:33. > :19:37.hadn't dole very well in the qualification, which is what this

:19:37. > :19:42.is from and haven't got as many finals as they would like. This is

:19:42. > :19:46.beautiful, straight body work. Absolutely perfect. Where do you

:19:46. > :19:50.deduct from here? There is only one occasion in the whole routinele.

:19:50. > :19:54.When he was in seated cross, his shoulders were high, but I can't

:19:54. > :19:57.see anything else. Tiny pike in the first phase of the twist, but

:19:57. > :20:03.really, I am scrambling round for something wrong. Look at his face,

:20:03. > :20:07.he is daring the judges to take something off that. That was

:20:07. > :20:13.terrific. A little wink. You have to wonder if it is possible for

:20:13. > :20:20.anybody to beat this man on rings. A 15.8. Nine for execution. They

:20:20. > :20:25.found a whole mark. Goodn't knows where! Yes. He is thinking the same

:20:25. > :20:33.thing, Chris. If that is a 15.8. I would like to see what the others

:20:33. > :20:41.have to make, because that was incred, work. Federico Molinari,

:20:41. > :20:46.Argentina, the 28-year-old. He has a 6.7 difficulty so 0.1 behind

:20:46. > :20:50.a 6.7 difficulty so 0.1 behind Yibing Chen. Great to see him here.

:20:50. > :20:58.He almost stopped gymnast tix after having a terrible shoulder injury.

:20:58. > :21:08.Yet here he is on rings. Shoulder injuries are the bane of the rings'

:21:08. > :21:08.

:21:08. > :21:18.workers lives. But it is obviously recovered well. Holds that planche

:21:18. > :21:24.

:21:24. > :21:34.Building his difficulty through that. And again. Really fabulous

:21:34. > :21:37.

:21:37. > :21:42.straight line, shoulders completely down, no question there. Waits to

:21:42. > :21:52.explode, up, into the Sommeer salting work. Showing that swing.

:21:52. > :21:59.

:21:59. > :22:03.Oh, that was wonderful, the Takes quite a pause. Steadies

:22:03. > :22:12.himself, swings, up to handstand, just a bit of a waiver at the top

:22:12. > :22:18.of that, had to fight a bit. Didn't he - oh, what a shame, one-and-a-

:22:18. > :22:23.half twists, just a bit wild the way he threw the arm over. He was

:22:23. > :22:29.on fire, just the last two moves. What a shame. It was impressive but

:22:29. > :22:33.he bent his arms and that is a biggie, that is a 3 to five tenth

:22:33. > :22:39.deduction then he fell at the end, that is another whole mark. This

:22:39. > :22:45.was nice. Very cleanly done. Circle down. He will pop back up. Look at

:22:45. > :22:48.that. This angle, the feet look bowed. But maybe not. Lovely

:22:48. > :22:54.shoulder condition, and as you said, Matt, he has recovered from an

:22:54. > :22:58.injury to get to this level on the most demanding exercise. This was a

:22:58. > :23:02.pity. One-and-a-half twists in the double, but overcooked it. Feet

:23:02. > :23:07.behind the shoulders and he is scrambling to get to his feet. A

:23:07. > :23:10.pity. It will have been that little half turn at the end he has worked

:23:10. > :23:20.on for the last few months, just to build that difficulty to compete

:23:20. > :23:40.

:23:40. > :23:44.There is your leader Yibing Chen, Really looking forward to seeing

:23:44. > :23:49.this gymnast. This is Aleksandr Balandin. He is the European

:23:49. > :23:55.champion. He really impressed us a few months ago at the European

:23:55. > :24:00.Championships, and,, he could, he could threaten Chen here. He could.

:24:00. > :24:04.He is precise in his strength lines and Chen may have given a little

:24:04. > :24:07.room for manoeuvre in the cross, the seated cross, but I don't think

:24:07. > :24:13.you will see a problem with these. His shoulders are a fraction high

:24:13. > :24:17.there. You have to have a straight line. Imagine a stick, a broom-

:24:17. > :24:22.handle through, and that is very nice. Imagine the broom-handle

:24:22. > :24:32.between the two rings and your shoulders have to follow that line.

:24:32. > :24:33.

:24:33. > :24:41.That is nice. Shrug to Maltese. Bounce the cross. But the swing has

:24:41. > :24:48.to be well under control. Very nice. Into top planche. Look at the

:24:48. > :24:52.strain. Good technique, but a tiny bit overcooked with the circle to

:24:52. > :24:56.handstand. He has to keep the arms straight, but he did. This is a

:24:56. > :25:00.very difficult dismount, the double pike. A lot of gymnasts don't like

:25:00. > :25:07.it because you not sighted when you come to the second rotation. Lovely

:25:07. > :25:12.work. Well that will certainly threaten for a medal. He did score

:25:12. > :25:19.a 15.816 in the team final, so if he could replicate that he will go

:25:19. > :25:22.ahead of Chen, a 15.8. There is the man we will be talking about short

:25:22. > :25:26.ly, Iordan Iovtchev. It is a fine line between the strength parts.

:25:26. > :25:29.Talking to one of the British judges, he says if you don't hit

:25:29. > :25:34.the position straight from swing, you can't adjust from it, you have

:25:34. > :25:42.to live in the position you land in. And you can see there, he swung

:25:42. > :25:48.just a bit high, but this, you like that Chris, don't you. Yes. Yes,

:25:48. > :25:50.very strong dismount. Is really a strong guy. Like the start as well.

:25:50. > :26:00.strong guy. Like the start as well. He sets his authority on the

:26:00. > :26:01.

:26:01. > :26:09.routine.. He is into second. With a 15.666. Will he stay there? There

:26:09. > :26:17.is a fair few gymnasts to come yet in this ring final. Matteo Morandi.

:26:17. > :26:26.He was the second highest qualifier. If you think 30 is old, wait until

:26:26. > :26:34.the next gymnast! He is the current the next gymnast! He is the current

:26:34. > :26:39.Italian champion this lad. I bumped into two of his Italian team-mates,

:26:39. > :26:44.they said he will win silver. Look at that. Great start. Passing

:26:44. > :26:53.through a Maltese, up to top planche. There is another Maltese.

:26:53. > :27:01.Very, very accurate, so far. Lovely line. Circle to inverted cross.

:27:01. > :27:11.Tiny wobble but times it perfectly. He has pushed his difficulty up

:27:11. > :27:13.

:27:13. > :27:18.over the past year, if he can match Difficulty. Circle to cross. If it

:27:18. > :27:25.is anything that will test him, it is the swing. He has to hit that

:27:25. > :27:29.handstand. Very nicely done indeed. So stick this and you are in

:27:29. > :27:35.business. Oh, a little wobble forward, just a step forward but

:27:35. > :27:40.Matteo Morandi did go for it there. Very impressive. OK, so his team-

:27:40. > :27:47.mates are predicting a silver. But mates are predicting a silver. But

:27:47. > :27:51.stand by your beds. 15.8 is the score he needs for gold. Got some

:27:52. > :27:57.interesting combinations there as well. You know, a lot of apparatus,

:27:57. > :28:01.you can get similar routines, in that there is easier ways to get

:28:02. > :28:05.your difficulty, than other, whereas he seems to have used a bit

:28:05. > :28:09.more variety in the work. Interestingly with rings Mitch,

:28:10. > :28:14.this is the only piece of apparatus you have to react to, because it

:28:14. > :28:18.swings, it moves. You have to time the swing at the front or the back,

:28:18. > :28:23.all depends on the handstand, but these strength parts were

:28:23. > :28:33.immaculate. He did a great job. 30 years old his shoulders are. You

:28:33. > :28:34.

:28:34. > :28:44.would never guess. Well, a predicted silver and he is in

:28:44. > :28:45.

:28:45. > :28:49.second! I wonder what they predict of Beth Tweddle. 1.733. -- 15.733.

:28:49. > :28:55.He doesn't look too chuffed with that. It was very fair judges.

:28:55. > :29:02.a story it would be if this man could get up into the meds --

:29:02. > :29:12.medals. Iovtchev. He is 39 years old. This his sixth Olympic game,

:29:12. > :29:13.

:29:13. > :29:22.Here we go. Phenomenal, phenomenal gymnast. And still especially

:29:22. > :29:26.strong. Has had to alter his work, as the judging system has changed.

:29:26. > :29:31.Fighting to bring that cross right down, in line, he is having no

:29:31. > :29:38.trouble with the swinging elements and that was absolutely beautifully

:29:38. > :29:44.done, wasn't it. Superb strength. Just a little bit of a soft back in

:29:44. > :29:48.the handstand. And that, when he stirs started was seen as a per--

:29:48. > :29:53.perfect handstand what a shame. A buckle of the knee, didn't quite

:29:53. > :30:00.swing high enough a as he released the bar. I love the expression on

:30:00. > :30:10.his face as to say "You didn't see that." what character he is. Listen

:30:10. > :30:13.

:30:13. > :30:21.to the roar! Everybody knows here, Historic to see a man of 39 in an

:30:21. > :30:26.Olympic final. Techniques have to adjust, and he has got a soft dough

:30:26. > :30:36.back, and that was the old- fashioned technique, but my golly,

:30:36. > :30:44.he is still strong. Great stuff. Let's look at the knees. How

:30:44. > :30:52.quickly he gets back up! You didn't see it! Well, he already has two

:30:52. > :30:57.Olympic medals. He got a second in Athens and was third in Sydney.

:30:57. > :31:07.Athens and was third in Sydney. Athens and was third in Sydney.

:31:07. > :31:25.

:31:25. > :31:33.Still a fabulous score with a bit Three gymnasts to go in this final.

:31:33. > :31:43.Tommy Ramos will be up next. He has got a difficulty of 6.8, so if he

:31:43. > :32:03.

:32:03. > :32:07.can match the leader he could be up He is quite a bit taller, this

:32:07. > :32:14.gymnast, so at the tall you are, the greater strength you need to

:32:14. > :32:19.hold it out like that. Wonderful shape, dead straight. Into the

:32:19. > :32:23.seated across. And that is very impressive. The shoulders going

:32:23. > :32:30.right down. Just holding the shapes, holding the strength element. Look

:32:30. > :32:35.at that, that is a great picture. Each strength element has to be

:32:35. > :32:45.held to account of two, and he is making sure of that. -- took

:32:45. > :32:50.He is straight into the inverted cross. Then there handstand, and he

:32:50. > :32:55.faltered a little bit. He took a while to lock to the handstand. A

:32:55. > :33:05.good straight back somersault. That was a very strong challenge.

:33:05. > :33:06.

:33:06. > :33:12.strong challenge, and he will need Tommy Ramos making the most of his

:33:12. > :33:19.opportunity. It is a tough club to get into, 15.6 or more is a tough

:33:19. > :33:24.club. Some of the technique he showed was a little bit suspect. He

:33:24. > :33:27.did lower his position after a swing, and that is a deduction.

:33:27. > :33:37.There were errors for the judge to get into, but that is a lovely

:33:37. > :33:42.

:33:42. > :33:45.A huge achievement to have made the final of the Olympic Games. Every

:33:45. > :33:50.gymnast to comes here as an individual, that is the bigger game,

:33:51. > :34:00.to make the finals and then perform your best, that is just what you

:34:01. > :34:23.

:34:23. > :34:27.That is a good score. 15.6 is a He managed to take the bronze on

:34:27. > :34:36.the floor yesterday, and it was his birthday the day before that. A

:34:36. > :34:42.great belated birthday present. He has eight 6.6 difficulty level.

:34:42. > :34:45.did such a good job on the floor. He has a similar touch on the rings,

:34:46. > :34:51.very quick and in and out of the positions, holding them for just

:34:51. > :35:01.the right amount of time. He swings beautifully. Double tuck, double

:35:01. > :35:09.

:35:09. > :35:15.pike, and he nails the top position. Lovely control and technique in the

:35:15. > :35:21.handstand. A little bit overcooked on the back. But a double double

:35:21. > :35:29.with just a pace. He went for it. He is in with a shout. If that is a

:35:29. > :35:32.huge dismount, double straight, We have seen a lot of those double

:35:32. > :35:40.tucks, but you have to generate a lot of swing into the dismount and

:35:40. > :35:45.that was very impressive. Very strong. Look at his shoulders.

:35:45. > :35:53.has got a real energy to his work. I know what you mean when you say

:35:53. > :35:59.he moves around at pace. A great pace to all his routines.

:35:59. > :36:09.Anatomy student would say he has a lovely definition in at deltoids

:36:09. > :36:09.

:36:09. > :36:15.and biceps. These terms are so high when he is making them. Two Straits,

:36:15. > :36:22.two twists, arms out for a landing. I think that is the only one we

:36:22. > :36:32.have seen in the championship. think so, very impressive work.

:36:32. > :36:33.

:36:33. > :36:43.will be interesting to see if he UPS the difficulty score. 15.633.

:36:43. > :36:50.

:36:50. > :36:55.The last a gymnast to go is the 4th highest qualifier. Now this lad got

:36:55. > :37:05.a silver medal at the World Championships. This is his first

:37:05. > :37:06.

:37:06. > :37:11.Olympics and he can certainly put Well, he knows the arena. He won

:37:11. > :37:17.the Test event here. And a lot of people were tipping him. But he's

:37:17. > :37:25.in a distinguished and experienced company here. Circling up, straight

:37:25. > :37:35.to the top, and he will bounce back from this. This is very strong work.

:37:35. > :37:41.

:37:41. > :37:51.An almost stock move, but he makes it look so easy. Swinging into his

:37:51. > :37:53.

:37:53. > :37:58.strength. There is the double. Look at that control there. Pushes

:37:59. > :38:08.out into the Maltese, and his shoulders are slightly over raised,

:38:09. > :38:13.

:38:13. > :38:21.Look at that, talk about a stick in the straight line from the

:38:21. > :38:25.shoulders down from the rings. That's good. A good disciplined

:38:25. > :38:30.swing to the handstand. Stand this up, and you could be in business,

:38:30. > :38:39.but that little pace could be crucial. This is going to be a very

:38:39. > :38:49.uncomfortable wait. He is clinging on in bronze at the moment with

:38:49. > :38:59.15.666. Has Zanetti just taken the He will be very popular in if he

:38:59. > :39:04.

:39:04. > :39:12.As predicted, he is in store when the opposition. Will he stay there

:39:12. > :39:20.and third? Serious faces. They know that that was an impressive routine.

:39:20. > :39:24.Lovely lines. Look at this. It is superhuman. It is, isn't it? It is

:39:24. > :39:33.almost like there is something pulling him up. It is like he is on

:39:33. > :39:39.hydraulics. Yet, that's the word. - - yes. Hugely impressive. It is all

:39:39. > :39:44.about the strength in relation to your body weight. And he obviously

:39:44. > :39:48.is very, very strong indeed. But he has good style. That was a nice

:39:48. > :39:58.dismount. The best landing for being upright, even if there was

:39:58. > :40:00.

:40:00. > :40:08.The arms go up into the air. It's not just a Brahms or a silver,

:40:08. > :40:13.Zanetti, the last gymnast up steals the gold from China! 15.9. What a

:40:13. > :40:23.performance from the Brazilian gymnast. And that will be a very

:40:23. > :40:25.

:40:25. > :40:32.popular gold medal, because he is a very, very engaging young man and

:40:32. > :40:36.Chen is gracious in defeat. What a moment for Zanetti. He had to watch

:40:36. > :40:45.everyone else go, but he was not intimidated by what he saw. But

:40:45. > :40:52.what a performance. Look at that. That was an amazing performance.

:40:52. > :41:00.His strength parts were incredible. Look at my Randi, in third, and 37

:41:00. > :41:10.And big surprise in the women's fault, yesterday, and this is a

:41:10. > :41:12.

:41:12. > :41:20.surprise as well. Chen has been so dominating. But the times are a-

:41:20. > :41:23.changing. He was good in the test event, and that took me by surprise.

:41:23. > :41:29.I thought the pace might keep him out of the ultimate gold medal

:41:29. > :41:35.position, but there is the 39-year- old, still young, still battling.

:41:35. > :41:42.Terrific. I don't think he will be back, do you? But let's not say

:41:42. > :41:47.that. Don't let him hear you say that. What a final we have seen

:41:47. > :41:57.here. So emotional for everyone involved. And Arthurs and Etty

:41:57. > :42:00.

:42:00. > :42:03.A superb victory for Brazil and most unexpected. We are looking

:42:03. > :42:10.through the statistics and we reckon that is the first gymnastics

:42:10. > :42:15.gold medal for Brazil at the Olympic Games. The man in Silver

:42:15. > :42:19.said he might retire, and he says he might want to be a children's TV

:42:19. > :42:24.presenter! Anyway, let's get to Nicola Adams in the women's boxing,

:42:24. > :42:34.she is in the blue. This is a quarter-final, and if she wins it

:42:34. > :42:35.

:42:35. > :42:44.against the Bulgarian, she has a Just approaching 32nd gone in the

:42:44. > :42:50.third round -- approaching 30 seconds gone. Nicola Adams, the No.

:42:50. > :42:54.2 seed in the competition, making her Olympic debut as she was the

:42:54. > :43:02.beneficiary of a buy as a virtue of the No. 2 seeding and she has been

:43:02. > :43:06.boxing well. She led 2-1 after the first round and extended that to

:43:06. > :43:12.five-three after two completed rounds. In the third round, Nicola

:43:12. > :43:17.Adams using all the punch variety that is her hallmark. Nicola Adams

:43:17. > :43:21.is one of the hardest body punches I have ever boxed against. It is

:43:21. > :43:31.good to see she is employing those punches now she is more confident

:43:31. > :43:34.

:43:34. > :43:38.in the ring, because that will slow After just taking a look on a

:43:38. > :43:42.scouting mission during the opening round, perhaps some of nerves on

:43:42. > :43:47.her Olympic debut at the corner instructed her to relax, and Nicola

:43:47. > :43:54.has carried out the instructions to a tee and his boxing in a rhythmic,

:43:54. > :44:00.fluid fashion. -- he's boxing. She's using the jab to better

:44:00. > :44:04.effect and is finding the range. She is the smallest box on the

:44:04. > :44:12.programme, but she has the biggest reach, and that Rajab comes from

:44:12. > :44:19.nowhere. -- that jab. So that is the conclusion to the third round,

:44:19. > :44:23.and the crowd here that is full to capacity and maybe even beyond,

:44:23. > :44:33.rise up in using -- in unison. Nicola Adams extending their

:44:33. > :44:35.

:44:35. > :44:40.Nice and relaxed in the blue corner from the coach. We see Nicola

:44:40. > :44:43.throwing her combinations and landing. Landing the body and head

:44:43. > :44:48.combinations, forcing her to stumble back again. There we go,

:44:48. > :44:51.the body looks I was talking about, they are so hurtful. I would like

:44:51. > :44:54.to see her use a few more of these going into the last round, because

:44:54. > :45:04.they really do put you off going anywhere near throwing a punch at

:45:04. > :45:15.

:45:15. > :45:20.round the boxer wearing blue representing Great Britain is

:45:20. > :45:25.Nicola Adams and she has worked herself into a six point lead and

:45:25. > :45:35.begun the Fourth Round if brilliant fashion. Scoring with a reverse one

:45:35. > :45:43.

:45:43. > :45:46.two, Petrova has to overturn a six with her feet and hands.:Petrova

:45:46. > :45:52.has been unable to find and answer in what is the fourth encounter

:45:52. > :45:57.between the two boxers, the previous three have been victories

:45:57. > :46:02.for Adams. We wondered how significant that would be. It

:46:02. > :46:08.appears as though unless she walks on to a sucker punch Nicola Adams

:46:08. > :46:14.is about to repeat those victories in this, their fourth encounter.

:46:14. > :46:18.You see the style from Adams. Switching from southpaw to orthodox,

:46:18. > :46:25.comfortably. She is proficient in both stances. Petrova is

:46:25. > :46:32.desperately trying to find a way round Adams' style. Left hand lead

:46:32. > :46:42.being fired out of that southpaw stance by Nicola Adams, who lists

:46:42. > :46:42.

:46:42. > :46:47.Sugar Ray Leonard and Muhammad Ali as boxers she admires. They

:46:47. > :46:51.modelled their style on Sugar Ray Robinson and Sugar Ray Leonard and

:46:51. > :46:58.Cassius Clay began their rise to global prominence, right here in

:46:59. > :47:05.the Olympic boxing ring. She lost her balance there, but it is just a

:47:05. > :47:11.slip says the referee so the gloves will be wiped clean. The contest

:47:11. > :47:16.resumes. Well renowned Nicola Adams as one of the most naturally gifted

:47:16. > :47:24.female boxers on the squad. This is where we see her personal style.

:47:24. > :47:34.She trains in Leeds. We can see the relaxed low hand style. Swift shots

:47:34. > :47:41.

:47:41. > :47:47.and great footwork. So the count down begins. But no doubt about the

:47:47. > :47:53.victor. After a consue mate performance in four two minute

:47:53. > :48:00.rounds Nicola Adams is beaming from ear to ear after her Olympic debut.

:48:00. > :48:05.All smiles, she has graced the same canvas as some of the boxers she

:48:05. > :48:12.has most admired. Didn't she acquit herself well?. Look at this! Strong

:48:12. > :48:17.rear hand from Adams, followed by a left. Just moving out the way of

:48:17. > :48:24.that counter by Petrova. I tell you what, they are strong shots. You

:48:24. > :48:29.foe when you are been hit by Adams. -- you know. The moment of

:48:30. > :48:32.realisation, the final bell has sounded and Nicola Adams raises

:48:33. > :48:42.both arms in anticipation of victory. The official verdict is

:48:43. > :48:50.

:48:50. > :48:56.a score of 16 points to seven, in the blue corner, representing Great

:48:56. > :49:01.Britain, Nicola Adams. A little dance of delight from Great

:49:01. > :49:06.Britain's Nicola Adams as she soaks up the acclaim and applause of this

:49:06. > :49:12.ExCel arena that is packed to capacity, Union Jacks baeving round

:49:12. > :49:16.us, and Nicola Adams in the manner of her heroes as she bows to all

:49:16. > :49:20.four sides of the ring, in the fact she is guaranteed a place if the

:49:20. > :49:23.podium. She has prevailed in her quarterfinal, she has made it

:49:23. > :49:30.through to the semifinal. She will stand on the podium regardless, the

:49:30. > :49:35.only question is what colour will only question is what colour will

:49:35. > :49:37.that medal be? The 29-year-old from Leeds, congratulations, in that

:49:37. > :49:42.particular division, Nicola could become the first gold list in

:49:42. > :49:47.Olympic history, if thing goes to plan, right now, she is a bronze

:49:47. > :49:51.medal guaranteed spot. This afternoon we are looking forward to

:49:51. > :49:54.Natasha Jonas in the lightweight division. She is up against Katie

:49:55. > :50:00.Taylor of Ireland what a bout this will be. Katie a four time World

:50:00. > :50:02.Champion and she is the standard bearer for Irish hopes, she carried

:50:02. > :50:06.the Trish flag at the opening ceremony that. Will come up in a

:50:06. > :50:12.little while. We have some news, it has been all happening in the last

:50:12. > :50:18.few moments. I have taken some copy. There has been a major development

:50:19. > :50:23.in athletics after Algeria's 1500 metre Charles van Commenee pet for

:50:23. > :50:28.was thrown out for not trying. This was earlier, this was in 1500

:50:28. > :50:33.metres semifinal. He won this in style but he was forced to run the

:50:33. > :50:39.800 metres after his team failed to withdraw his entry. This was him

:50:39. > :50:43.this morning lining up at the start. He is all smile, no problem but he

:50:43. > :50:46.was already well behind at the start of the back straight and he

:50:46. > :50:56.therefore stopped running, 100 metres later. There he is dropping

:50:56. > :50:59.

:50:59. > :51:02.off the pace and he stopped. Now I have an IAFF statement. They

:51:02. > :51:07.decided to exclude him from participation in all further events

:51:07. > :51:10.in the competition. That is highly significant because he was a major

:51:10. > :51:15.contender for gold in that 1500 metres but he is out of the

:51:15. > :51:21.Olympics and he becomes the ninth athlete of the games to be thrown

:51:21. > :51:24.out for not trying. You remember the four badminton players who were

:51:24. > :51:28.thrown out. So when you think all about the thousands of athletes who

:51:28. > :51:32.have put these years training and hard work to get here and someone

:51:32. > :51:37.doesn't try, it is a bit of a slap in the the face to them all. He is

:51:37. > :51:42.out. But, very much in the whole of Liverpool could be coming to a

:51:42. > :51:47.stand-still very shortly today as they Wash watch the city of

:51:47. > :51:50.Liverpool gymnastic's clubs Beth Tweddle. The woman who has almost

:51:50. > :51:53.single-handedly revitalised the sport in this country. She is a

:51:53. > :51:56.three time World Champion, a six time European champion. A

:51:56. > :52:00.Commonwealth champion and now a three time Olympian, she is

:52:00. > :52:09.possessed of the steeliest of nerves, the only thing missing from

:52:09. > :52:19.her collection is an Olympic medal. This is the one we love. Into the

:52:19. > :52:22.

:52:22. > :52:26.full twist. That was a cracker. . It's a massive leaf. The past ten

:52:26. > :52:29.weeks has been up and down and hard work with the rehab and everything,

:52:29. > :52:35.but I proved that the British Championships I am nearly back to

:52:35. > :52:40.full fitness, the bars is pretty much full fitness. As soon as I was

:52:40. > :52:43.told I had surgery my mum dropped everything and came down with me to

:52:43. > :52:47.the operation. My boyfriend has been there 100% to help me get

:52:47. > :52:49.through anything that I needed, whether it was getting ice at

:52:49. > :52:55.midnight or whatever it was, they are done everything to help me

:52:55. > :53:04.achieve my dream. In we come. Wind up for the big dismount, double,

:53:04. > :53:07.double. It is there. Fantastic work. She is very composed and boxes

:53:07. > :53:12.things off so she knows what he has to do. Training hard, obviously had

:53:12. > :53:15.a bit of a setback with her knee but she has got over there and she

:53:16. > :53:24.has rehabed as hard as anybody, I think, the team have ever seen. So

:53:24. > :53:29.she is a pretty determined little lady. My parents have only missed

:53:29. > :53:32.about five competitions in my career which in 20 years is pretty

:53:33. > :53:37.impressive. It is the missing one, isn't it. An Olympic medal. The

:53:37. > :53:42.missing one for Beth. It is, yes. As he said the other day, she, if

:53:42. > :53:47.she doesn't get it she has three world title, six European title to

:53:47. > :53:51.her name, but it is the one she wants bs, she really doesn't care

:53:51. > :53:56.which colour. I have worked hard on it. I have change add lot of things

:53:56. > :54:02.and started to put the dismount back on. I have to give everything.

:54:02. > :54:05.Here we go, the big catch up with half turn, into the drop to the low

:54:05. > :54:09.half turn, into the drop to the low bar. Back up to the high bar, that

:54:09. > :54:13.is smooth, that is good. As long as she comes away feeling she has done

:54:13. > :54:20.her best, you know, that is what we will be happy with, you know, I

:54:20. > :54:25.just want her to be happy. Just the big dismount to go. She winds up,

:54:25. > :54:28.and that was tremendous. If I can walk away o knowing I have done the

:54:28. > :54:38.best I would love to have a medal, but if it doesn't, I don't want to

:54:38. > :54:42.walk away thinking I have not She was fourth in Beijing by a

:54:42. > :54:46.fraction of a point. A point away from a bronze medal. Now is the

:54:46. > :54:49.moment of truth for Beth Tweddle and indeed the team down there at

:54:49. > :54:54.the North Greenwich Arena, Matt Baker and the rest of you, I know

:54:54. > :54:57.you are looking forward to this as are we all. Fingers crossed. We are

:54:58. > :55:02.just hoping that everything goes her way. I mean, so much can happen

:55:02. > :55:06.in so little time, and you want it to flow, as beautifully as possible.

:55:06. > :55:11.We can all stand here, Jenny and talk about how inspiring she is,

:55:11. > :55:15.but, you are living proof of that. Well, yes, I looked up to her when

:55:15. > :55:18.I was a younger gymnast what little girl didn't. She was the best we

:55:19. > :55:23.have had in Britain, now I have been training with her for five

:55:23. > :55:27.years and I have made to it the Olympic Games too. So she is a

:55:27. > :55:32.great inspiration. She did make you feel like it was possible to

:55:32. > :55:35.compete with the best. Of course, she has proved that Britain can win

:55:35. > :55:39.medals and gold medals. Well, it is not going to be easy, she is going

:55:39. > :55:42.to have to win that medal here, it is not matter of walking out and

:55:42. > :55:52.getting through, she has to pack it with difficulty, because there are

:55:52. > :55:56.

:55:56. > :56:06.some incredible gymnasts in this final. Not least, Gabby dug las. --

:56:06. > :56:40.

:56:40. > :56:44.What about that! Well, she, she's happy. Look at that! Well, that was

:56:44. > :56:53.tremendous. Surely Gabrielle Douglas has to go into the lead

:56:53. > :57:03.after that. One piece of apparatus stands in the way of Gabrielle

:57:03. > :57:23.

:57:23. > :57:32.Douglas, Olympic Gold. It all boils Well, what a story from this young

:57:32. > :57:42.girl. There is your Olympic champion. What a performance. From

:57:42. > :57:43.

:57:43. > :57:53.The bars are set 1.8 metres apart. The low bar is 1.7 high and the

:57:53. > :57:54.

:57:54. > :58:04.high bar stands at 2.5 metres. All routines have to include flight

:58:04. > :58:10.

:58:10. > :58:18.elements. Turns. Different grips. One of the most dramatic moves is

:58:18. > :58:22.the Tkatchev. When the gymnast loses sight of the bar temporarily.

:58:22. > :58:26.Judges cores are based on difficulty, technique and

:58:26. > :58:36.composition. A straight body line and consistent rhythm has to be

:58:36. > :58:47.

:58:47. > :58:51.OK, so basically girl, in lay man's term there's is two different

:58:51. > :58:57.scores we will look at. The difficulty and then there is the

:58:57. > :59:02.execution. So, Beth, we think, is going to go for, Jenny you are

:59:02. > :59:08.thinking a 7.1? She has about three or four different routines that she

:59:08. > :59:14.could go for, she is going to go for the 7.1 start value which is a

:59:14. > :59:20.very high start value, but not her highest. And try and do the

:59:20. > :59:29.execution as tidy as possible, or she will go for the 7.3, obviously

:59:29. > :59:34.to get the biggest score. Some wonderful scenes down here of

:59:34. > :59:40.Arthur Nabarrete Zanetti receiving his medal for the men's rings. That

:59:40. > :59:44.was, it was a remarkable final. We expect a remarkable final here. Now

:59:44. > :59:51.Imogen, how affected do you think Beth will be by what happens in the

:59:51. > :59:56.competition before? We have Kexin He who could put up a 7.3. Do you

:59:56. > :59:59.think she will stick to her plan. She is vastly experienced. I am not

:59:59. > :00:02.sure. I don't know whether she will watch and think, but I think she

:00:02. > :00:05.will keep her head down. I don't think she will watch the

:00:05. > :00:10.competition. The amount of times she has done these routine, she

:00:10. > :00:14.knows what to do, you know. How has she been back at the Olympic

:00:14. > :00:19.Village? He has been pretty happy, chilled. We saw her a minute ago

:00:19. > :00:29.after the warm up, she is in a good mood, so that is good. It is nice

:00:29. > :00:32.She is nice and relaxed, she will be fine. This is what she has

:00:32. > :00:36.worked for and the whole crowd easier for her. I really hope she

:00:36. > :00:40.does it. How frustrating was it for her that she could not retain the

:00:40. > :00:45.European title because of her knee injury, and how much will that knee

:00:45. > :00:50.injury play on her mind? She has been sleeping with a special ice

:00:50. > :00:54.machine, even up to last night. has got used to that now, sleeping

:00:54. > :00:59.with the ice-pack on her knee, but it has not affected her training.

:00:59. > :01:02.She has still trained as much as necessary and she qualified first

:01:02. > :01:08.for the final and she will be concentrating on her routine, not

:01:08. > :01:13.her injuries. Everybody is asking if she can get goal, but I just

:01:13. > :01:20.want her to get a medal and stand on the podium and feel that -- get

:01:20. > :01:25.a gold corps. Any medal will be the cherry on top of her cake of her

:01:25. > :01:29.career. She just stepped up after Beijing, and it doesn't matter.

:01:29. > :01:34.would be happy with a medal of any colour. It is the only thing

:01:34. > :01:38.missing from her collection. think that just that little step to

:01:38. > :01:44.the side is what Costa de Medellin Beijing. We will have a look at the

:01:44. > :01:54.routine here and talk about some of the differences -- is what cost her

:01:54. > :01:58.

:01:58. > :02:04.a medal in Beijing. She has changed Beijing, but she has stepped up

:02:04. > :02:08.even more, and the routine you will see today, that will be better.

:02:08. > :02:12.wonder how you could not get a medal with this routine because it

:02:12. > :02:18.is so dynamic, powerful and precise but it boils down to that extra

:02:18. > :02:22.little swing. She has linked everything up now and there is no

:02:22. > :02:32.extra swing in the bar routine. It is so short. Everything is

:02:32. > :02:38.connected. The little shake of the You talk about the connections,

:02:38. > :02:46.because that is one way of building up the difficulties. You do one

:02:46. > :02:51.difficult move after another. not normal to do that letter E into

:02:51. > :02:57.another. That sounds difficult for people home. Basically all of the

:02:57. > :03:03.moves are graded from letter a up to letter G. The lower down the

:03:03. > :03:09.alphabet, the more difficult the movies. All you need to know is

:03:09. > :03:13.that they don't much start with the letter A! She will be entering into

:03:13. > :03:17.the North Greenwich arena, and you can listen to the raw. Everybody

:03:17. > :03:27.knows what is awaiting them. How on earth do you think she will be

:03:27. > :03:28.

:03:28. > :03:34.feeling right now? We said we would rather be on the floor because we

:03:34. > :03:38.were less nervous than Fort Lewis and Max. And also it is just you.

:03:38. > :03:42.When you're watching there is nothing you can do. But she knows

:03:42. > :03:47.what to do and what she has done on the floor. She is experienced

:03:47. > :03:50.enough. Once you have saluted and it goes quiet and you walk up to

:03:51. > :03:57.the apparatus, does it just happen, or are you aware of what is going

:03:57. > :04:02.on? You try not to think that this is the biggest moment of however

:04:02. > :04:07.many competitions you have done in your life and just think about each

:04:07. > :04:13.skill you have to do the new routine. We shout it, skill at a

:04:13. > :04:18.time! Do what you know! Do it how you have done it in training.

:04:18. > :04:22.two were part of making history with that 6th place. Those who look

:04:22. > :04:26.back in the history books will sate where his 1928, so the big guns

:04:26. > :04:30.were not there because it was boycotted, but you have gone in and

:04:30. > :04:35.got six place and put British gymnastics on the map. Everyone is

:04:35. > :04:42.talking about what you lot have done. Does it feel like you have

:04:42. > :04:47.made huge leaps forward? It has been improving each year and it has

:04:47. > :04:54.got more successful. We have just proved in this Olympic Games that

:04:54. > :04:58.we can achieve those results. the time is almost upon us. We can

:04:58. > :05:08.see that the bars are chalked up, and the gymnasts are entering into

:05:08. > :05:09.

:05:09. > :05:13.the arena. We think that she will be starting with a world record of

:05:13. > :05:18.difficulty at 7.3, the Chinese gymnast, so what does the future

:05:18. > :05:28.hold for Great Britain's Beth Tweddle? All eyes on her. And there

:05:28. > :05:39.

:05:39. > :05:43.She is really in amongst a world- class group. She has got to go out

:05:43. > :05:53.and win this, as it will not be an easy ride. Definitely won't be easy

:05:53. > :05:57.

:05:57. > :06:02.at all. Mustafina pulled out a 16.1. All of those gymnasts will be

:06:02. > :06:06.putting out their best routines. It is not going to be easy. Isn't it

:06:06. > :06:09.the first final that everybody who should be in there is in there?

:06:09. > :06:14.There were a couple of slip-ups in previous competitions and maybe the

:06:14. > :06:22.top names did not getting, but if she gets a medal here, she has done

:06:22. > :06:30.so well. Well, we are not sitting comfortably, but we are all seated

:06:30. > :06:40.and ready for this incredible uneven bars Olympic final. Girls,

:06:40. > :06:45.

:06:45. > :06:55.It is an absolute thriller in store. Not really the armoury to threaten

:06:55. > :06:59.

:06:59. > :07:09.here, the German, but will be worth And this is one that will really

:07:09. > :07:20.

:07:20. > :07:25.test this young lady, Beth Tweddle. Mutsafina. What a final in store

:07:25. > :07:29.here. As the girls said at the top of the programme, anybody who is

:07:29. > :07:35.anybody is in this final. We have the Olympic champion, the world

:07:35. > :07:45.champion, the new Olympic all-round champion, everybody who matters in

:07:45. > :07:47.

:07:48. > :07:57.the world of a symmetric bars is What a final. What a moment for

:07:58. > :08:00.

:08:00. > :08:04.You can feel it, can't you? It is buzzing. You can. The gymnasts, no

:08:04. > :08:09.warming up. They have warmed up out of the back. Straight in,

:08:09. > :08:17.introduced to the audience and off they go. So, Beth Tweddle is up 5th

:08:17. > :08:22.in this final, but the reigning Olympic champion is up first. She

:08:22. > :08:31.was world champion in 2009, Beth Tweddle opting to stay in the arena

:08:31. > :08:41.She is getting absolutely everything set right. The board

:08:41. > :08:44.

:08:44. > :08:54.positioned correctly. He Kexin Is set to do an incredibly difficult

:08:54. > :08:56.

:08:56. > :09:02.here is a difficult combination. Excellently performed. Just a bit

:09:02. > :09:09.of strength needed to come out of that second front somersault. There

:09:09. > :09:16.is the pirouette. Beautiful, into the soul tow. Swinging beautifully.

:09:16. > :09:24.Straight up to the high bar again. Clear circles. Has to include the

:09:24. > :09:32.close but element. Fall twisting. Just the tiniest little step.

:09:32. > :09:38.was she on the difficulty? I think that is the same routine she did in

:09:39. > :09:44.qualification, and she got a 7.1 difficulties call their, so that

:09:45. > :09:51.was a routine that has to be beaten -- a 7.1 difficulty the score. She

:09:51. > :09:55.did a very original two releases in the middle. Lovely work, and real

:09:55. > :10:00.precision in the pirouette and the handstand. It sets her amongst the

:10:00. > :10:03.best they have ever been. That is the combination. The trouble is the

:10:03. > :10:10.second somersault is a little bit low and she takes some strength to

:10:10. > :10:19.work out of it. That is the only thing. Breathtaking gymnastics.

:10:19. > :10:25.Look at the flight. Very, very strong routine. Yes, links up every

:10:25. > :10:30.single move. Again she just takes a little bit of strength, and that is

:10:30. > :10:40.where the executions court might just be a little bit lower. --

:10:40. > :10:41.

:10:41. > :10:51.other gymnasts know they will have to be at their best to beat. She

:10:51. > :10:52.

:10:52. > :10:58.just gets there hands over, doesn't way, because you are unaffected.

:10:58. > :11:02.You just get in there, laid down the gauntlet and say, beat that!

:11:02. > :11:08.You have also finished warming-up, and there is no long wait, so it is

:11:08. > :11:15.a good position. That is exactly right. That is what has just come

:11:15. > :11:23.across, beat that!. That was a terrific routine. We have not seen

:11:23. > :11:33.much of her since the last Olympics, really. 15.933. A 7.1 difficulty.

:11:33. > :11:44.

:11:44. > :11:50.champion is the next one up. she has had silver in the team

:11:50. > :11:56.competition, silver in the all round, and this she will want to be

:11:56. > :12:04.gold. She has had a lot of upset and tears. She has fire in her

:12:04. > :12:07.belly here. She swings with such ease. Look at the height generated.

:12:07. > :12:12.Low to high and high to low elements. And another one with a

:12:12. > :12:16.half turns. She has such a height of the bar. A pike in and out with

:12:16. > :12:23.the half term. Very precise. Beautiful, the straight front

:12:23. > :12:28.somersault. The body flowing, into the pirouette section. She is going

:12:28. > :12:35.for broke and another very big routine. All of her handstands have

:12:35. > :12:41.been held. Did she just catch the bar? Up into the double double. A

:12:41. > :12:44.step to the side. I am not sure, but did she catch that? I do not

:12:44. > :12:49.know she added in an extra-long swing at the end, because it took

:12:49. > :12:54.her mind off things. If she did catch the bar it will have stopped

:12:54. > :12:58.the momentum. She did take an extra swing. She does not look a happy

:12:58. > :13:06.girl. That has been the story of her Olympics. But she has some

:13:06. > :13:16.lovely work. Look at that transfer. So clean. So much elegance and

:13:16. > :13:16.

:13:16. > :13:25.style in a flight. -- her flight. Look at the shape on the straight

:13:25. > :13:35.front somersault. Just floating it in. The pirouette, then the full

:13:35. > :13:39.

:13:39. > :13:44.that was clean. -- be dismount. Just a step, so that will be 0.110

:13:44. > :13:53.0.3 of a deduction of the execution score. But if she hit the low bar,

:13:53. > :13:59.that is as much as 0.5. The extra swing gave it away, I think. And,

:13:59. > :14:03.of course, her face. She uses the technique of straddling passed

:14:03. > :14:07.below bar and keeping her legs out side, which is always a little bit

:14:07. > :14:14.of a dodgy technique as you grow. You get the suspicion of the bent

:14:14. > :14:19.knees past that bar. You would think the amount of long swings she

:14:19. > :14:24.would do, you would think that that is an error you would not expect.

:14:24. > :14:31.Yes, you would not expect her to hit the bar. Obviously there is a

:14:31. > :14:35.big debate on it. Normally you can actually hear it. We are obviously

:14:35. > :14:45.a long way away here. You are not going to hear anything in this

:14:45. > :15:08.

:15:08. > :15:17.the back of that. The German bar champion. She did incredibly well

:15:17. > :15:24.in the all-round final. In qualification, she posted a 6.7

:15:24. > :15:34.difficulty. We are looking for a hike execution score. Her style is

:15:34. > :15:37.

:15:37. > :15:47.much more punchy. That is a good start. That is so impressive. A

:15:47. > :15:49.

:15:49. > :15:55.nice straddle Pike Jaeger. Nice combination. She is going extremely

:15:55. > :16:02.well. She hits the handstand. She needs to be precise at the top of

:16:02. > :16:12.the swings. That was nice. Straight into there all twisting double.

:16:12. > :16:12.

:16:12. > :16:22.That was a very good routine. Very good thing greed. She was

:16:22. > :16:28.incredibly competent. Really pleased to see. She put in a huge

:16:28. > :16:33.skills. She lost leg form on it. She got massive difficulty but she

:16:33. > :16:41.lost quite a bit of deductions. Other than that, there was not a

:16:42. > :16:48.lot wrong with the routine. The legs and really quite wide apart.

:16:48. > :16:55.That is at least a 0.3 deduction. The Jaeger somersault and straddle

:16:55. > :17:03.front somersault was lovely and high. She is the gymnast that uses

:17:03. > :17:13.energy on the apparatus. I like her style - it is determined and punchy.

:17:13. > :17:13.

:17:13. > :17:19.Great stuff! If you really work with the bar, it bends at the

:17:19. > :17:29.bottom and lifts you are. She is excellent at timing this. It goes

:17:29. > :17:33.

:17:33. > :17:39.down and then it goes up. In bronze medal position. There are five

:17:39. > :17:47.gymnasts to go, including Beth Tweddell, who will be on after this

:17:47. > :17:57.gymnast. She is the 4th highest qualifier for the uneven bars the

:17:57. > :17:59.

:17:59. > :18:06.Olympic final. Yet again the gymnast with the lot of good work.

:18:06. > :18:15.The best are out there. She came third at the Olympic test event on

:18:15. > :18:22.this piece of apparatus. She posted a 6.8 difficulty. She will not be

:18:22. > :18:31.holding back. A lovely clean handstand with a good transfer.

:18:31. > :18:41.This is clean and very precise stuff. That was good in flight and

:18:41. > :18:51.the good transfer. She is going well. Such elegance in the

:18:51. > :18:57.

:18:57. > :19:07.pirouettes at the top. Look at love that doubles straight. It is

:19:07. > :19:16.

:19:16. > :19:26.terrific! -- double. That was the zippy routine. It was a lovely

:19:26. > :19:28.

:19:28. > :19:35.routine. It was powerful work. She is a tiny gymnast. She is the first

:19:35. > :19:45.gymnast to perform that move. It is a big move when you are as tiny as

:19:45. > :19:46.

:19:46. > :19:56.she is. She is so precise and accurate. That, for me, is not such

:19:56. > :20:12.

:20:12. > :20:22.a good element. Lovely extension in 10th. 15.766 is enough for the

:20:22. > :20:23.

:20:23. > :20:33.silver medal at the moment. Some very good gymnasts to come. He Hu

:20:33. > :20:35.

:20:35. > :20:45.Jintao Leeds. Listened to the roar in the North Greenwich arena. -- He

:20:45. > :20:45.

:20:45. > :20:54.Kexin. What does the Olympic final have in store for Beth Tweddell?

:20:54. > :21:03.Her entire gymnastic career has been building up for these next few

:21:03. > :21:11.moments. She just has to go through like shoot always does. -- like she

:21:11. > :21:17.always does. This is the important section. Straight to the lower bar.

:21:17. > :21:27.Straight to be high bar. She must focus and give herself some energy

:21:27. > :21:29.

:21:29. > :21:36.for the dismount will start 88 step back but she saved it. -- the

:21:36. > :21:46.dismount. A big step back. Let's have a look at the dismount one

:21:46. > :21:54.

:21:54. > :22:01.more time. A terrific effort. over. She has done it. I did not

:22:01. > :22:07.think you're going to make it! was a tremendous routine. She knew

:22:07. > :22:15.she had to go for maximum difficulty. The work on the

:22:15. > :22:21.apparatus was superb. Really mentally, terrific to have done

:22:21. > :22:29.that. She has done it all week. What the challenge it was an what a

:22:29. > :22:36.gymnast she is! This was the big combination. She had to get the

:22:36. > :22:44.somersault to the low bar. She made it with ease. We have not seen the

:22:44. > :22:49.replay of the dismount. Two somersaults, two twists. This was

:22:50. > :22:59.the big challenge. Their hips were slightly behind and she had to take

:23:00. > :23:24.

:23:24. > :23:33.Everybody's eyes are glued to the school board. Still knows got yet.

:23:33. > :23:41.-- the score board. Still no score yet. It is so that at the moment.

:23:41. > :23:51.This will be a few nerve-racking moments. Two huge performances to

:23:51. > :23:54.

:23:54. > :24:04.come. The standings at the moment, he Hu Jintao Leeds. -- He Kexin

:24:04. > :24:08.

:24:08. > :24:15.Straight up to the high bar. If anyone can post a higher score,

:24:16. > :24:25.this gymnast can. The height on the front somersault was immense. A

:24:26. > :24:26.

:24:26. > :24:34.full pirouette Again. She also has made her combinations. Up into the

:24:34. > :24:44.1.5 this man and she sticks that. This will be a fight to the wire. -

:24:44. > :24:51.- 1.5 dismount. She came here with so much to prove. She has had an

:24:51. > :24:59.upsetting time as well. She was very much the up and coming

:24:59. > :25:05.gymnasts then she suffered a big injury at the European

:25:05. > :25:12.Championships. That was spectacular in the releases. This was a big

:25:12. > :25:22.challenge. It has to be hats off to her. A lot of pressure. Lovely

:25:22. > :25:22.

:25:22. > :25:32.flight and lovely control. Now we have to wait. The school to beat

:25:32. > :25:45.

:25:45. > :25:52.his He Kexin. -- the score to beat. You have to be in between 52 and

:25:52. > :25:59.bypassed with your hands up on a clock face. It was mightily

:25:59. > :26:09.impressive. -- five minutes to and five minutes past with your hands.

:26:09. > :26:17.

:26:17. > :26:27.She takes the lead. Beth Tweddle Is now down into third. What heady

:26:27. > :26:32.

:26:32. > :26:42.rate routines these are! -- heavy weight. This is extreme pressure.

:26:42. > :26:56.

:26:56. > :27:06.She has had a Murdoch at the World is not that precise with a

:27:06. > :27:10.

:27:10. > :27:16.handstand. Lovely, drifting changes. Enough rotation. Very precise. Good

:27:16. > :27:25.combination. She was very close to the bar. Then, a little bit

:27:25. > :27:33.overcooked with the handstand. That is what it is about at this level.

:27:33. > :27:41.A lovely double straight at the end but tiny technical errors. Maybe

:27:41. > :27:49.slightly down on the difficulty as well. The qualifications court was

:27:49. > :27:56.6.6 difficulty. She is a lovely gymnast the start -- qualification

:27:56. > :28:03.score. She is very clean. The Japanese gymnasts have done well in

:28:03. > :28:10.these championships. Super high front somersault. She had eight

:28:10. > :28:17.tiny bit bent arms, which can be a deduction. The judges have to see

:28:17. > :28:23.this so quickly. They do not have the luxury of a replay. You can see

:28:23. > :28:31.the effort into this routine. I love this dismount! It floats,

:28:31. > :28:41.flies and sticks. The penultimate gymnast in his Women's uneven bars

:28:41. > :29:06.

:29:06. > :29:13.the Olympic final. There is the young lady. She really has a fan

:29:13. > :29:23.club. The crowd knows what is at stake. If Gabrielle Douglas can

:29:23. > :29:24.

:29:24. > :29:32.score over 15.916, then Beth will go down into 4th. She has just had

:29:32. > :29:42.the most incredible competition at the Olympics. She is already the

:29:42. > :29:52.

:29:52. > :29:59.all-round champion. Hoping for over a 15.916. She flies on these bars.

:29:59. > :30:06.Watch this! How high is that about the bars. She lost a tiny bit of

:30:06. > :30:15.rhythm but she controlled it very well. She has just lost that. She

:30:15. > :30:25.needs to make an exit polls DUP -- exit. She has got the link, though

:30:25. > :30:26.

:30:26. > :30:36.half turned. Into the handstand. Pike in and out. She needs a big

:30:36. > :30:44.

:30:44. > :30:49.dismount. I think there was an performers have performed here. You

:30:49. > :30:57.go for the handstand, you have to pirouette and land. She turned it

:30:57. > :31:02.the wrong side. That will be expensive. Yes, an extra swing. She

:31:02. > :31:08.covered it very well. But then the step on landing as well, it was not

:31:08. > :31:14.so on fire as the night she won the all-round. But what a week she has

:31:14. > :31:19.had. Last up for the final, after a very busy and very successful week.

:31:19. > :31:29.That will not threaten the medals. They you have your Olympic champion,

:31:29. > :31:32.

:31:32. > :31:39.Aliya Mustafina. Silver medal for Great Britain's Beth Tweddle, we

:31:39. > :31:42.cannot confirm anything so -- as the schools have not come in.

:31:42. > :31:52.gymnasts will be looking nervously, no one will be celebrating anything

:31:52. > :32:04.

:32:04. > :32:09.I think she can cling onto bronze. Tense moments. Louis Smith said the

:32:09. > :32:16.most difficult moment of all was standing waiting for the scores to

:32:16. > :32:26.come through. If you look at her face, she would not think she

:32:26. > :32:30.

:32:30. > :32:35.deserves a medal. Get off the fence, Christine! I am not on the fence.

:32:35. > :32:42.It is 14.94 Gabrielle Douglas, she is in a. Great Britain's Beth

:32:42. > :32:46.Tweddle has a bronze medal. That has a nice ring to it. What a

:32:46. > :32:55.fantastic moment for Aliya Mustafina. But also for Beth

:32:55. > :32:59.Tweddle and everybody in British gymnastics. He Kexin the Olympic

:32:59. > :33:06.champion last time around, she takes silver. Great Britain's Beth

:33:06. > :33:11.nurdle -- Beth Tweddle has an Olympic medal at long last. She was

:33:11. > :33:21.thoroughly deserving of it. Great stuff for Great Britain and great

:33:21. > :33:21.

:33:21. > :33:26.stuff for Beth Tweddle. Hope filly the routine will be connected to a

:33:26. > :33:35.medal -- we set hopefully the routine will be connected to a

:33:35. > :33:38.metal and that is what has happened. A wonderful moment. What a thriller

:33:38. > :33:46.of a competition and what a champion she is. Aliya Mustafina

:33:46. > :33:50.kept her nerve. There it is, official, a bronze medal at last.

:33:50. > :33:54.She is one of the greatest ambassadors for British sport and

:33:54. > :33:58.British gymnastics. She dragged us all into the limelight in the

:33:58. > :34:08.gymnastics world and she set the pace. Now she has got herself a

:34:08. > :34:11.

:34:11. > :34:16.Congratulations to Aliya Mustafina of Russia. She joins the likes of

:34:17. > :34:20.Nadia Comaneci as an individual champion on the uneven bars. But

:34:20. > :34:26.for Beth Tweddle, her whole career in waiting for an Olympic medal and

:34:26. > :34:30.she has landed one. We all heaved a few sighs of relief when it was

:34:30. > :34:34.confirmed on the big scoreboard at the North Greenwich arena but she

:34:34. > :34:39.has won the world title three times, she has the European championship

:34:39. > :34:43.medals, she has Commonwealth titles and now she completes the set in

:34:43. > :34:46.style. I think everyone who has been associated with her will be

:34:46. > :34:48.thoroughly delighted for Beth Tweddle who has been such an

:34:48. > :34:54.ambassador for the sport in our country.

:34:54. > :35:00.And it does mean that Great Britain's medal tally now is at 38.

:35:00. > :35:04.The 11th bronze medal of the campaign so far. Louis Smith's

:35:04. > :35:09.bronze medal four years ago on the pommel horse was Great Britain's

:35:09. > :35:13.first gymnastics medal for 80 years and that is now the 4th for these

:35:13. > :35:18.Olympic Games. We will be getting better's reaction to that very

:35:18. > :35:23.shortly with Matt and the rest of the team. We had some more good

:35:23. > :35:27.news. It is in women's hockey. Great Britain's women's team are

:35:27. > :35:31.through to the semi-finals for the first time since 1996 and that was

:35:31. > :35:36.before they pushed off this evening. It came to this match between China

:35:36. > :35:43.and Japan. If China failed to beat Japan, GB would go through. But

:35:43. > :35:48.Japan who have not won a game so far, managed a stunning upset 1-0.

:35:48. > :35:51.They hung on to the victory. Thanks to our friends from Japan, Great

:35:51. > :35:55.Britain's women are through. They will be playing the Olympic

:35:55. > :36:00.champions, the Netherlands, at 7 o'clock but it means the pressure

:36:00. > :36:03.is off. They have booked their place in the semi-final. That is

:36:03. > :36:07.the good news and plenty more of that down at the North Greenwich

:36:07. > :36:11.arena. Let's get Matt Baker's reaction to the events down there.

:36:11. > :36:16.A stunning nurdle and a long time coming.

:36:16. > :36:23.This place is just buzzing. What a performance. We are joined by Louis

:36:23. > :36:30.Smith as well. Huge congratulations to you. Just remarkable. Four

:36:30. > :36:33.gymnastics medals at these Games. It is unprecedented. Absolutely

:36:33. > :36:39.unprecedented and absolutely thrilling. For Beth who has worked

:36:39. > :36:44.so hard and come back from so much adversity, just rewards. Lewis, you

:36:44. > :36:50.have had about 20 minute's sleep but you had to be here to see this?

:36:50. > :36:55.I would not miss it for the world. It has been a long time coming for

:36:55. > :37:00.Beth and I think everyone knows how hard she has worked. People will be

:37:00. > :37:06.saying, are you disappointed that it was not gold but she has gone

:37:06. > :37:11.out on a high in her last competition. We have talked about

:37:11. > :37:19.how much Beth has inspired British gent -- gymnasts. He went up there

:37:19. > :37:25.yesterday in incredible style and got a silver medal. Max got a

:37:25. > :37:30.bronze medal. It is now the fact that she has got an Olympic medal.

:37:30. > :37:34.I think the overwhelming emotion will be relief. You work so hard,

:37:34. > :37:41.you are so determined to. It will take a few hours to sink in and

:37:42. > :37:48.then the real delight will be. To be perfectly honest, she was a bit

:37:48. > :37:53.unlucky, not have the gold or silver. It was a little stumble, a

:37:53. > :37:57.little stumble on the landing. All were, the apparatus was superb.

:37:57. > :38:01.This was the big combination she had to get, the somersault straight

:38:01. > :38:05.down to the lay-by and then immediately to get her feet on the

:38:05. > :38:09.bar so she could go back up to the high bar again and it is these

:38:09. > :38:14.combinations which make it such a difficult routine. It takes a lot

:38:14. > :38:18.out of you and you have to do this huge dismount right at the end and

:38:18. > :38:22.she just held the tuck in a fraction of a second long so that

:38:22. > :38:28.when she landed her hips were behind her feet and to be honest,

:38:28. > :38:35.she could easily have set that down, such was her determination. So she

:38:35. > :38:39.did well to hang on to the dismount? He was fantastic. I have

:38:39. > :38:44.seen has -- I have seen her so many times in training. I thought she

:38:44. > :38:49.would get the gold but for two small steps, it shows how close it

:38:49. > :38:53.can be. You know when you go up into a handstand and do the

:38:53. > :38:58.flourish at the end, did you know that you were up on the podium?

:38:58. > :39:04.have learnt not to switch off too soon. I messed up my dismount in

:39:04. > :39:09.the last world championships. You have to concentrate right down to

:39:09. > :39:13.the last second. It is an extra difficulty as far as the dismount

:39:13. > :39:17.is concerned. She has put that extra half turn in that people will

:39:17. > :39:22.think back to Beijing, it happened again that she stepped to the side

:39:22. > :39:26.but this is a harder dismount? are harder dismount and harder

:39:26. > :39:31.routine. We saw the Beijing one before the competition and it was

:39:31. > :39:36.amazing how much more difficult this routine was. She did lots of

:39:36. > :39:41.upstarts, lots of handstands and things in between moves them but

:39:41. > :39:44.now she has packed it all together. It is a short routine be jam-packed

:39:44. > :39:48.with everything she needs. She has been world champion and European

:39:48. > :39:52.champion but did not have a medal, do you think if she had got a medal

:39:52. > :39:59.in Beijing she would have carried on for the last four years? It

:39:59. > :40:04.seems the last four years have been to get an Olympic medal. This is

:40:04. > :40:11.what it is about four Bath. She missed out in Beijing. This build

:40:11. > :40:14.up for her has been fantastic. She is a leading two apparatus. They

:40:15. > :40:19.had come here and this pressure and this magnitude, to do that routine

:40:19. > :40:25.and land on her feet, to end up with a medal, fair play to her, she

:40:25. > :40:31.dealt with the pressure superbly. It is release and relief. 24 hours

:40:31. > :40:35.on, is it just release? Is it is the best feeling in the world. When

:40:35. > :40:38.you why specialist and you do it clean and you finish and you can

:40:38. > :40:43.reap the benefits, she can collect a medal and enjoy it with her

:40:43. > :40:48.friends and family. 24 hours later you can chat to her and she will be

:40:48. > :40:52.over the moon. The last Olympics for you was a bronze and now you

:40:52. > :40:58.have a bronze and a silver and the medals keep on coming. What an

:40:58. > :41:02.afternoon it has been here, Hazel. I could not agree more. We will go

:41:02. > :41:06.back for the medal ceremony when we can. If you have been with us this

:41:06. > :41:16.afternoon, you will know Great Britain has secured at least bronze

:41:16. > :41:22.in women's boxing. Nicola Adams, from Leeds, she was in action in

:41:22. > :41:29.the quarter-finals. She needed to win that one to guarantee bronze as

:41:29. > :41:35.one of the semi-finalists and she did it. She is a world champion

:41:35. > :41:42.with a silver medal and she has the sunniest smile. She has given her

:41:42. > :41:47.reaction. Not a bad way to make your debut, you're in the semi-

:41:47. > :41:52.finals. I am over the moon. I am enjoying every minute of it,

:41:52. > :42:00.basically. What were the emotions like when you step out into the

:42:01. > :42:05.ring? I was loving every minute of it. I was quite nervous as well. I

:42:05. > :42:12.thought to myself, I have a job to do and just get in there and do it.

:42:12. > :42:18.What a job you did. You are guaranteed a bronze medal, how

:42:18. > :42:23.motivated are you to make sure it is top step of the podium? I am

:42:23. > :42:31.really motivated. I cannot wait to see what I can get. I have a bronze

:42:31. > :42:36.medal in my -- -- in my back pocket and I will see if I can change the

:42:36. > :42:42.colour of it. My opponent is a five-time world champion and I have

:42:42. > :42:47.a lot of respect for her. To do that is something special. I hope

:42:47. > :42:51.on the day I have something extra. Natasha is up next, I used

:42:51. > :42:56.supporting her? Definitely, she is my team-mate. I am wishing her the

:42:56. > :43:00.best. I want to say thank you to all the support we are getting in

:43:00. > :43:05.the crowd. All the boxers are really happy with the support Great

:43:05. > :43:11.Britain is showing us. You have done your bit, well done, Nicola.

:43:11. > :43:16.Thank you. A well done, indeed. Moving up a division into the

:43:16. > :43:21.lightweights, week are all looking forward to seeing Natasha Jonas

:43:21. > :43:26.against Katie Taylor from Ireland, a four-time world champion. She

:43:26. > :43:33.carried Ireland's flag at the opening ceremony. This was a heck

:43:33. > :43:43.of a fight. We can join it in the third round. The Irish woman is 10

:43:43. > :43:47.

:43:47. > :43:57.defending world champion, Katie Taylor from Ireland who is wearing

:43:57. > :43:59.

:43:59. > :44:08.red. Both boxers going toe-to-toe. Natasha Jonas has to overturn a 3

:44:08. > :44:13.point deficit and she trails by a score of 10 points to seven. It is

:44:13. > :44:23.Taylor who is getting on the front foot now and beginning to assert

:44:23. > :44:23.

:44:23. > :44:32.her dominance. We have 30 seconds in round number three. Jonas is

:44:33. > :44:38.overwhelmed by the sheer volume of punches which Taylor is throwing.

:44:38. > :44:46.Jonas, her head is clear, she holds up pant too intimate to the referee

:44:46. > :44:52.that she is OK. -- she holds up her hand. Katie Taylor is really going

:44:52. > :44:58.through these beers. She is unloading accurate shots at close

:44:58. > :45:03.range. She is so popular in Ireland that she was selected with the

:45:03. > :45:09.honour of being flag-bearer in the opening ceremony. Boxing is very

:45:09. > :45:14.much in her blood. Her father was a champion in Ireland in the mid-

:45:14. > :45:17.1980s. She learned her trade by watching him shadow box in the

:45:17. > :45:27.kitchen and she has turned out to be a rather decent amateur boxer

:45:27. > :45:38.

:45:38. > :45:45.boxers in the sport. She is putting Natasha Jonas under real pressure.

:45:45. > :45:55.She is struggling with the combinations. It depends on whether

:45:55. > :45:57.

:45:57. > :46:02.the judges will camp the body shots. Natasha Jonas competing valiantly.

:46:02. > :46:08.Jonas continuing to respond. The boxer who had the better of the

:46:09. > :46:18.third round, beyond any question, was Katie Taylor. She has extended

:46:19. > :46:25.

:46:25. > :46:31.her lead by eight will stump 19.7 in favour of Katie Taylor -- 8.

:46:31. > :46:41.Serious words by have father and her coach in the corner. She does

:46:41. > :47:05.

:47:05. > :47:10.not need to be getting into a fight Do not give in! Keep boxing! As we

:47:10. > :47:19.enter the 4th and final round, the instructions in the corner could

:47:19. > :47:28.not have contrasted more Stipe Claire -- starkly. Natasha Jonas is

:47:28. > :47:33.trailing by eight. She has to go in and score points without reply. The

:47:34. > :47:40.atmosphere is absolutely fantastic. It is more like a football match

:47:40. > :47:50.but it is women's Olympic boxing for the very first time in the 100

:47:50. > :47:50.

:47:50. > :47:55.and a year history of this tournament. -- 108. The father and

:47:55. > :48:05.coach of Katie Taylor is saying she does not need to get into a fight.

:48:05. > :48:11.

:48:11. > :48:19.That is what Jonas is trying to do will start -- trying to do. A great

:48:19. > :48:24.left hook to the body. That will be hurtful for Jonas. Katie Taylor was

:48:24. > :48:32.listening to the instructions will start he told her not to get

:48:32. > :48:39.involved but keep her gut nice and tight. That is one of the

:48:39. > :48:45.ingredients for their successful achievements to date. Jonas is

:48:45. > :48:53.biting down on her gumshield. She is forced to take her second

:48:53. > :49:01.standing count of the contest. A cacophonous and noise is being

:49:01. > :49:07.generated by the crowd. Katie Taylor wages war to the body of

:49:07. > :49:14.Jonas. She continues to come forward. She is being forced

:49:14. > :49:21.backwards to be neutral corner. She just goes into the ropes. There is

:49:21. > :49:28.a sporting embrace between the two rivals. There can be no doubt about

:49:28. > :49:37.the victor - Katie Taylor! She is living up to her billing of world

:49:37. > :49:45.champion. She has produced a fantastic display it on her debut.

:49:45. > :49:50.Natasha Jonas gave it her all. She completed until the final bow. One

:49:50. > :49:57.suspected that Katie Taylor had guaranteed a place on the medal

:49:57. > :50:07.podium with the dazzling display against Natasha Jonas. Absolutely!

:50:07. > :50:09.

:50:09. > :50:18.Landing with a good right hand. Receiving a count from Taylor. If

:50:18. > :50:26.indeed Jonas is not the victor, it is a win for women's boxing.

:50:26. > :50:34.winner by a score of 26 points to 15, in the red corner, Katie Taylor

:50:34. > :50:41.of Ireland. A standing ovation for Katie Taylor. Let's not forget

:50:41. > :50:50.Natasha Jonas, who played her part in a thrilling women's bout will

:50:50. > :50:59.stop a fantastic advertisement for boxing. -- women's bout will start

:50:59. > :51:05.she is adding even more hardware to her trophy Cabinet - the four time

:51:05. > :51:15.reigning defending champion - Katie Taylor. She is guaranteed at least

:51:15. > :51:18.

:51:18. > :51:28.a bronze medal. Who would bet That was sensational stuff. Katie

:51:28. > :51:33.Taylor was well worthy of a victory. A grace in this -- in defeat from

:51:33. > :51:39.Natasha Jonas. Savannah Marshall will be up very shortly in the

:51:39. > :51:43.middleweight division. She will be in action very shortly. That will

:51:43. > :51:49.be on the red button. We are going straight back to the north

:51:49. > :51:55.Greenwich arena. Beth Tweddle has become the first British woman ever

:51:55. > :52:05.to win a medal at the Olympic Games. She started this whole thing and

:52:05. > :52:05.

:52:05. > :52:15.has finished it in style up let's get straight back to the medal

:52:15. > :52:28.

:52:28. > :52:34.to win an Olympic medal in gymnastics. The British girls have

:52:34. > :52:39.been improving steadily. From the first moment she won the World

:52:39. > :52:49.Championships, it has been along wait for an Olympic medal. It could

:52:49. > :52:52.

:52:52. > :52:58.never been more deserved than S for Beth Tweddle. There is a feeling of

:52:58. > :53:05.contentment. You cannot have words to describe it. She has worked

:53:05. > :53:13.really hard. She is an absolute soldier. It could not happen to a

:53:13. > :53:18.nicer girl. It is wonderful. You do not want to go on about retirement

:53:18. > :53:26.and that kind of stuff but she is getting on a little bit now - that

:53:26. > :53:33.is what you said on Breakfast. bodies age like dog years. In

:53:33. > :53:43.gymnastics turns, she is about 56. I think Beth totally loves the

:53:43. > :53:45.

:53:45. > :53:52.sport and loves training as well. I asked her whether she was finishing

:53:52. > :53:59.completely at the end of their us. I asked her if it was her last

:53:59. > :54:09.training day at Liverpool and she said, I am going to train dam. It

:54:09. > :54:10.

:54:10. > :54:18.would not complete Leith surprise me for her to do bars. --

:54:18. > :54:25.completely. Her bar routine is worth more than anyone else's.

:54:25. > :54:29.will drop the pieces one by one. She will just be doing this mounts.

:54:29. > :54:38.More excitement from a British perspective. Kristian Thomas has

:54:38. > :54:48.made it into the Bar finals. We'd talk endlessly about British hope.

:54:48. > :54:50.

:54:50. > :54:56.-- we ATOC. -- we talk endlessly. When he landed and routine, I

:54:56. > :55:05.jumped six foot up into the air. It is probably the best but I have

:55:06. > :55:11.seen in the world. Beth's mum and dad have just come in. Do not worry

:55:11. > :55:16.about security. Come on in! We have just watched your daughter do the

:55:16. > :55:22.most incredible thing - the first British woman ever to win a medal

:55:22. > :55:29.in British gymnastics. I am so happy. I was looking at her and she

:55:29. > :55:36.was crying and smiling and I was as well. I am so proud. What was the

:55:36. > :55:42.last half an hour like? Absolutely Fabulous. She was so relieved, so

:55:42. > :55:46.happy. It was the first time she has shed a small tear. Stunning!

:55:46. > :55:52.You said you do not even think about celebrating all things that

:55:52. > :55:56.but what does the afternoon had in store? The first thing is we're

:55:56. > :56:06.going to watch a Kristian Thomas when an adult - that is the next

:56:06. > :56:11.

:56:12. > :56:16.step. You -- Kristian Thomas win a medal. The vault is contested by

:56:16. > :56:23.both men and women. The only difference is the height of the

:56:23. > :56:29.Boulting table. The men's is 10 centimetre higher than the women's.

:56:29. > :56:33.There remain length is the same. Gymnast can reach speeds of up to

:56:33. > :56:39.20 miles an hour on the runway before hitting the springboard 0.1

:56:39. > :56:47.of the second before entering into the vault. What follows next is all

:56:47. > :56:50.about the twists and turns which are the key to a successful score.

:56:50. > :56:57.There are 100 recognise vaults to choose from - one of the most

:56:57. > :57:07.popular being bazooka Horror style. It involves a car will over the

:57:07. > :57:14.

:57:14. > :57:24.vaulting table. -- cartwheel. you would like to get involved,

:57:24. > :57:31.goat the website. The vaulters are lined up and ready to go. Listen to

:57:31. > :57:40.that! The roar for Kristian Thomas. This is all about high difficulty

:57:40. > :57:48.and just nailing it. It is quite simple. He is in with a real shout.

:57:48. > :57:56.He is a bit damp on his difficulty with the second vault. -- down.

:57:56. > :58:00.am going to put you on the spot. What is your prediction? I think

:58:00. > :58:10.the Ukrainian will be up there. I would like to see Kristian Thomas

:58:10. > :58:16.

:58:16. > :58:26.at the World Championships in 2009. We will settle down and keep

:58:26. > :58:27.

:58:27. > :58:35.everything crossed for Kristian Thomas in the final. First up, he

:58:35. > :58:45.is a phenomenal Twister. He builds his difficulty around one axis. He

:58:45. > :58:46.

:58:46. > :58:52.is an unbelievable Bolter. Powers in, lifts up, twists. It all

:58:52. > :59:00.whizzes along so fast, it is quite difficult to differentiate

:59:00. > :59:10.sometimes. He is brilliant in the air. Such awareness! He is European

:59:10. > :59:15.

:59:15. > :59:21.champion. He whips up their third twist in. -- whips the third twist.

:59:21. > :59:31.There will be a bit of a deduction for the landing but nothing to

:59:31. > :59:33.

:59:33. > :59:43.match. An average is taken for the final score. He started at seven.

:59:43. > :59:53.He got a six. 16.1. That is a good start, isn't it? Indeed! This one

:59:53. > :59:59.has to be different. The same difficulty. We said it was going to

:59:59. > :00:07.take 16 to win this medal. That is a good start. This has to come on

:00:07. > :00:17.forward. Another big come at huge vault. 2.5 twists. He pushes off

:00:17. > :00:20.

:00:20. > :00:30.the top. He has gone out that and set the benchmark. He relies

:00:30. > :00:53.

:00:53. > :00:58.completely about one Aberu Kebede eight. That is some average mark.

:00:58. > :01:08.16 plus will take it. Great Britain's Kristian Thomas is ready

:01:08. > :01:29.

:01:29. > :01:35.at the end of the vault runway. That was the start he wanted. A

:01:35. > :01:41.great start from Kristian Thomas. A little hop back. He has given

:01:41. > :01:45.himself a chance. It was an enormous vault. It is so much a

:01:45. > :01:51.vault where you just have to go for broke, there is no holding back.

:01:51. > :02:01.You have to hit that platform and launch. He certainly did, rockets

:02:01. > :02:02.

:02:02. > :02:09.up, a great vault with a little skip backwards. That has given him

:02:09. > :02:19.a real chance. His second vault is slightly down on difficulty but he

:02:19. > :02:30.

:02:30. > :02:40.raised eyebrows here in the North Greenwich arena. What a platform he

:02:40. > :03:01.

:03:01. > :03:07.contact there. He could not get back clear of the match. Such a

:03:07. > :03:14.shame because with a slightly lower category, he knew he had to land it

:03:14. > :03:17.perfectly. He just missed time dear. It is such a long way round on

:03:17. > :03:23.those double fronts. You just grab penises and hope you have done

:03:24. > :03:30.enough. If he grabbed it, he did rotate but a bit undercooked. The

:03:30. > :03:39.important thing was, he got his feet down first. Look at the

:03:39. > :03:45.frustration. He was nearly there, so, so close. That will not be the

:03:45. > :03:49.first time that you see somebody sit down. No, and a tremendous

:03:49. > :03:53.first vault. The vault is not a piece that the British guys have

:03:53. > :04:00.excelled in in the past so this is quite a breakthrough to be in a

:04:00. > :04:10.vault final. His first vault, he gave it a shot. Consistency is the

:04:10. > :04:33.

:04:33. > :04:39.name of the game. This put him last Olympics. He scurried down the

:04:39. > :04:48.runway. That was very nice technique. A nice style on the 2.5

:04:49. > :04:53.twist. Sometimes the gymnasts can look a bit ragged when they twist.

:04:53. > :05:03.Back to the naked eye in normal speed looked very classy. Let's see

:05:03. > :05:11.

:05:11. > :05:19.in slow-motion. Pretty good to me. Just as good. That was with the

:05:19. > :05:24.extra half twist. Perez is another punchy little character. He is her

:05:24. > :05:34.mainstay of the Spanish team. He will not give up. It is about the

:05:34. > :05:58.

:05:58. > :06:03.hit the board and that was super. Their handspring front with the 2.5.

:06:04. > :06:13.Looking very sharp. With two twists, sorry. Really fabulous vaulting,

:06:14. > :06:39.

:06:39. > :06:44.forward and the huge pressure that that sets it apart really. But on

:06:44. > :06:54.vault it is so much about difficulty. Get your message across,

:06:54. > :06:54.

:06:54. > :07:52.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 57 seconds

:07:52. > :07:57.high he was. That really was the dismount. That was incredible.

:07:57. > :08:06.That is the thing, to kick out after a double front. I think that

:08:06. > :08:16.was the best I have ever seen. was incredible work. He just lifted

:08:16. > :08:30.

:08:30. > :08:35.up, 2.5 front somersaults, he fire as well. The power he has.

:08:35. > :08:40.You're talking about Moroni being the best -- best vaulter you had

:08:40. > :08:50.ever seen. That would give her a run for her money. It would. She

:08:50. > :08:50.

:08:50. > :09:30.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 57 seconds

:09:30. > :09:35.vault. He looks up into the heavens with his eyes. He thinks, that is

:09:35. > :09:40.good enough. It was massive vaulting. It has got to be on to

:09:40. > :09:44.the podium but what colour medal will it be? It will be wonderful to

:09:44. > :09:48.see the Ukraine win a medal after their disappointment in the team

:09:48. > :09:54.competition when they got shoved out from bronze to 4th. This looks

:09:54. > :10:01.like just the gymnast to do it, to me. Discipline, look at that shape

:10:01. > :10:06.in the air. He had the awareness to take a wide step. He knew he needed

:10:06. > :10:15.a stable base and he created it very effectively to stand up.

:10:15. > :10:19.Brilliant vaulting. Gymnasts these days are just defying gravity.

:10:19. > :10:29.People will be wondering how it is physically possible. With shoulders

:10:29. > :10:38.

:10:38. > :10:44.of spring in that table at the top there. It gives you a little lift

:10:44. > :10:50.but it is remarkable to convert all that running speed into that height.

:10:50. > :11:00.But this platform really has made a big change. It has made the

:11:00. > :11:01.

:11:01. > :11:09.apparatus so exciting. The smile, look at that. Beat that if you can,

:11:09. > :11:19.everyone. Flavius Koczi goes down into second -- silver medal

:11:19. > :11:39.

:11:39. > :11:44.is far from over. I cannot believe the level we are seeing. This is

:11:44. > :11:53.the best end to a vault final that you can ever wish for. They are

:11:53. > :11:59.learning how to block so well and they can pop down and time it. When

:11:59. > :12:04.you are teaching youngsters, Usain make the springs go down. But look

:12:04. > :12:14.at that landing, you dream about things like that. At least, I do.

:12:14. > :12:15.

:12:15. > :12:21.Incredible stuff. Really special. Denis Ablyazin has got a harder

:12:21. > :12:27.vault that he could potentially do. Is he going to go for a 7.2 which

:12:27. > :12:37.is harder than the one you just saw? He can do it. We will have a

:12:37. > :12:48.

:12:48. > :12:56.look on the scoreboard to his right. come off. Terrific stuff! 2.5

:12:56. > :13:05.twists. That was incredible vaulting. That lead is surely his.

:13:05. > :13:13.And he took a step forward as if he was stepping off a kerb. He flagged

:13:13. > :13:18.it up or floor. He did and great versatility on vault. This one he

:13:18. > :13:28.did from a flip approach which shows he has got a great deal of

:13:28. > :13:28.

:13:29. > :13:38.versatility in him. That was terrific vaulting. He really did

:13:39. > :13:39.

:13:39. > :14:21.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 57 seconds

:14:21. > :14:27.rap that round. Gosh, this is going parents were gymnasts. He has been

:14:27. > :14:36.doing the sport since he was two years old. He has had a lot of

:14:36. > :14:44.practice, even though he is only 19. This is the big stage was up that

:14:44. > :14:52.is the big vault tariff. That was very good indeed. -- big stage. He

:14:52. > :14:59.made a goal up so he could land it cleanly. -- it go up. The Americans

:14:59. > :15:09.have had not as good a time as they would have hoped. That was

:15:09. > :15:10.

:15:10. > :15:20.spectacular! It was one of the cleanest triples we have seen.

:15:20. > :15:20.

:15:20. > :15:30.was quite a good view of the Spring. I think probably the half turn up

:15:30. > :15:32.

:15:32. > :15:39.on shows you a bit better how the plat form rebounds you. -- behalf

:15:40. > :15:49.turn. -- the half turn. This is the finest Olympic vault final we have

:15:50. > :16:02.

:16:02. > :16:12.16.3, he needs to do something pretty special with his second one.

:16:12. > :16:14.

:16:14. > :16:23.He knows where to start. He is just checking. He has to plant his feet

:16:23. > :16:33.squarely. What a landing back was! Absolutely text spoke! That was

:16:33. > :16:43.fantastic! -- textbook. He was celebrating in bid deep squat

:16:43. > :16:45.

:16:45. > :16:51.position. He was punching the air. -- in their deep squat position.

:16:51. > :17:00.was these same vault that Kristian Thomas tried. He'd just had an

:17:00. > :17:05.extra inch to keep his feet round and underneath him. Am I there? I

:17:05. > :17:15.am therefore stuck he laid his shoulders back on the runway to get

:17:15. > :17:15.

:17:15. > :17:23.himself ready for the big conversion. That was a brilliant

:17:23. > :17:30.landing. That is it. It is over. think, after the long wait for the

:17:30. > :17:40.final, that is how they feel. in the bronze-medal position at the

:17:40. > :17:48.

:17:48. > :17:55.moment. Let's just hope he can stay He is the first Chilean gymnast to

:17:55. > :18:03.qualify for the Olympics. He is powerful and great in the air.

:28:23. > :28:30.goes mad. Britain are on the gold trail here, surely. Clear, four and

:28:30. > :28:35.clear and one to come, Peter Charles. What a sensational piece

:28:35. > :28:40.of riding! This young man is a true Championship rider. His technique

:28:40. > :28:50.and temperament is second to none. He has produced the goods when it

:28:50. > :28:56.

:28:56. > :29:01.has mattered. Look at that! These are live pictures we are now

:29:01. > :29:06.watching. Peter Charles. It is all down, we think, to this man. A If

:29:06. > :29:13.he can jump clear, we will, at the very least, be in the jump-off with

:29:13. > :29:23.the Netherlands for the gold medal. If the Netherlands have one dam and

:29:23. > :29:24.

:29:24. > :29:34.he is clear, we had won. If Peter Charles goes clear now, he just had

:29:44. > :29:52.the water. This is the round of his life. This could really put the

:30:06. > :30:14.Bull's double done that! Britain will finish on four in this round

:30:14. > :30:21.an four yesterday. Total, eight. It gives a bit of a door open for the

:30:21. > :30:28.Dutch and the last rider. He was so near and so far. It was a terrific

:30:28. > :30:33.effort. He raised his game. The horse jumped brilliantly. He was a

:30:33. > :30:43.very light touch behind. Nick Skelton is watching. He knows how

:30:43. > :30:54.

:30:54. > :31:04.Netherlands, if they can drop the eight and Gerco Schroder, their

:31:04. > :31:04.

:31:04. > :31:11.last rider goes clear, it will be a full point score for the Dutch. The

:31:11. > :31:16.stallion is named London. Is it named to win gold for the Dutch? In

:31:16. > :31:26.the Europeans last year, he had the last fence down to lose individual

:31:26. > :31:31.golds. What will happen? As you say, we watched in Madrid last year.

:31:31. > :31:41.This man had the fence damage gave us the medal. Will history repeat

:32:19. > :32:51.

:32:51. > :32:56.Britain has got it. If he stays four faults. It will be a jump-off

:32:56. > :33:00.for the Gold. It does not get better than best. Greenwich has

:33:00. > :33:10.already given us so much and it will give us more on the team

:33:22. > :33:27.since Great Britain claimed a medal. 60 years since they claimed jumping

:33:27. > :33:32.gold. Can you explain what will happen now for us, Clare Balding?

:33:32. > :33:36.still cannot believe that round. I thought Peter Charles would jump

:33:36. > :33:42.clear. And then a Dutch rider on a horse called London, you think,

:33:42. > :33:46.would do not let this be three written. Both teams, the Dutch and

:33:46. > :33:51.British will go head-to-head in a jump-off. As I understand it, all

:33:51. > :33:57.four riders will jump. Are a new course will be set up. It will be

:33:57. > :34:01.against the clock. The fastest clear round will win gold. How long

:34:02. > :34:10.do you think it will take to set up the new course? A very good

:34:10. > :34:14.question, any ideas, 10 minutes, 15 minutes? 10 or 15 minutes we are

:34:14. > :34:20.told. There are a couple more to go. There are Sweden, Switzerland and

:34:20. > :34:25.Saudi Arabia to go. None of them, we do not think can win gold. They

:34:25. > :34:29.can still win medals. Then the jump-off. We will keep you informed.

:34:29. > :34:33.If we were talking about how much we wanted Nick Skelton to win a

:34:33. > :34:37.medal. It looks like it will be a good one but will it be the
