:00:02. > :00:09.remarkable day of the Games. certainly was. I shall take over

:00:09. > :00:13.now. The cycling is an incredible eight goals, from Bradley Wiggins

:00:13. > :00:19.on the road, to Sir Chris Hoy on the track. And there may be more as

:00:19. > :00:24.we move to the BMS track -- BMX track, which is one of the sports

:00:24. > :00:28.we are following today. It is fast, frantic and fun to watch. Britain's

:00:28. > :00:31.Shanaze Reade will hope to put some disappointing results behind her

:00:31. > :00:38.and recapture the form that saw her win the World Championship last

:00:38. > :00:41.year. Also hockey, the Netherlands beat Great Britain to come top of

:00:42. > :00:47.their group, and they take on the top seed and defending champions

:00:47. > :00:52.New Zealand for a place in the final. We will be at Earls Court

:00:52. > :00:59.for the volleyball court of final between the USA and the reigning

:00:59. > :01:03.Cup champions, Italy. China has dominated table tennis here,

:01:03. > :01:09.winning all three goals so far and are strong favourites in the men's

:01:09. > :01:14.team event. They will take on South Korea -- all three gold medals. So

:01:14. > :01:24.this is what we are looking forward to, straight away we head to the

:01:24. > :01:58.

:01:58. > :02:06.The first period between New Zealand and the Netherlands, and we

:02:06. > :02:10.will be live for that later on. But here on BBC One it is BMX, which

:02:10. > :02:15.proved to be such a hit on its Olympic debut four years ago. The

:02:15. > :02:22.event starts at the time trials. 32 men and 16 women competing to

:02:22. > :02:25.decide the order for the elimination stage. BMX. Each race

:02:25. > :02:31.features eight riders competing on a tracks with jumps, bumps and

:02:31. > :02:38.corners. The race starts on and 80 metre high ramp and usually lasts

:02:39. > :02:42.about 40 seconds. -- and eight metre-high it rammed. The bikes are

:02:42. > :02:49.a crypt with one India and one break. As a contact sport,

:02:49. > :02:55.collisions are not uncommon -- the bikes are equipped with one that

:02:55. > :02:58.India and one break. The lead rider may iTunes the line around the

:02:58. > :03:05.track but on the final straight is not allowed to block the light of

:03:05. > :03:13.any rider trying to pass -- may choose the line. The race is run

:03:13. > :03:19.when there front-wheel crosses the 48 riders are competing for just

:03:19. > :03:22.two gold medals. One for the men, one for the women. The competition

:03:22. > :03:26.begins with a time trial qualification runway each rider

:03:26. > :03:35.races just against the clock to determine their seeding in the main

:03:35. > :03:38.competition. A complex series of races known as mojos follows. The

:03:38. > :03:43.top four in the semi-final will enter the final to race for the

:03:43. > :03:52.medals. If you would like to get involved in Olympic sports, go to

:03:52. > :03:56.Today is the time trial with the riders going in reverse order of

:03:56. > :04:00.world ranking. Shanaze Reade was third to go and desperate to erase

:04:00. > :04:10.memories of Beijing were her all- or-nothing tactics cost her a

:04:10. > :04:17.

:04:17. > :04:21.murder -- Costa a medal and she Shanaze Reade. You have seen

:04:21. > :04:29.Shanaze Reade's career up close in the last few years. How much has

:04:29. > :04:32.she got riding on this? She has come out of the start with

:04:32. > :04:39.confidence and taken the first jump beautifully. Nice and clean and

:04:39. > :04:44.smooth. Into the first term. Letting the back wheel drop nicely.

:04:44. > :04:49.Floating across the double. I have no doubt she will make the time in

:04:49. > :04:55.this run. She will be at the top of the charts so far. Let's see how

:04:55. > :04:58.she can keep hold. And nice smooth the lap, keeping it relatively safe.

:04:58. > :05:05.She used the cascade in the middle of the section nicely to create

:05:05. > :05:10.some speed. Ringgit in nice and smooth. That is a good lap. First

:05:10. > :05:15.rider to go below 40, very nice work from Shanaze Reade. She got

:05:15. > :05:19.hold of that and got a really good start and powered down the first

:05:19. > :05:23.straight. The crowd has been fantastic here, just like in the

:05:23. > :05:29.Velodrome and I'm sure she would have used the energy to power her

:05:29. > :05:39.around the track. Nice and smooth over the first jump. Great camera

:05:39. > :05:44.

:05:44. > :05:51.shot. Just helping to keep the coming off a broken collarbone.

:05:51. > :05:55.That was just eight weeks ago at the World Championships. Starting

:05:55. > :06:00.nice and smooth. Interestingly she has missed a lot of the season

:06:00. > :06:04.through in -- injury, so she's starting quite early. It is hard on

:06:04. > :06:10.the confidence with it BMX. You want to be racing or training at

:06:10. > :06:15.least once or twice a week. It is amazing how quickly you lose touch.

:06:15. > :06:21.But she is looking smooth and confident. A nice line through the

:06:21. > :06:26.last term. I think this is going to be one of the key times that

:06:26. > :06:31.Shanaze Reade will be working against. That is a good time,

:06:31. > :06:36.nearly a whole second ahead. Pretty good. She is a good time trial and

:06:36. > :06:39.we knew she would be seeded high in the final qualification. We will

:06:39. > :06:49.see how long she can hold that. Regardless, Shanaze Reade will

:06:49. > :06:57.

:06:57. > :07:03.here on Monday after Martin went out with a lacerated liver. She is

:07:03. > :07:10.looking really good. A solid first straight. Getting some pedals in

:07:10. > :07:18.over the doubles. Through the second term, getting some power

:07:18. > :07:23.down. Can she accelerated? There is the little cascade there. She has

:07:23. > :07:27.to try and take advantage of it. Didn't accelerate the same way we

:07:27. > :07:33.saw Walker and Shanaze Reade do. She is going to be devastated. That

:07:33. > :07:38.is a bad one. That is about as bad as you can get. Full speed, landing

:07:38. > :07:45.into the face of a jump. That is where ribs and collarbones go.

:07:45. > :07:48.is hurt. She is grasping her right arm. She is winded. She will be

:07:48. > :07:52.disappointed with that. She was looking pretty good up to that

:07:52. > :07:59.point. She had two more jumps to go. Whether she lost focus, or

:07:59. > :08:08.something. But this is BMX, ladies and gentlemen. It is just a

:08:08. > :08:12.straight wingding. She will be carried off. -- a straight wending.

:08:12. > :08:17.Hopefully she will get on a bike again in the competition. He would

:08:17. > :08:23.be a shame if she uses -- is out. Devastating for the Americans

:08:23. > :08:30.because they lost aerial Martin on Monday. She actually crashed in

:08:30. > :08:38.training the other day, so I think she has just had trouble hanging on

:08:38. > :08:41.to the handlebars with the fatigue. Absolutely devastating. Now,

:08:41. > :08:49.Caroline Buchanan from Australia, one of the favourites coming into

:08:49. > :08:59.the competition. She is so powerful. One of the best all-round riders.

:08:59. > :08:59.

:08:59. > :09:05.Athletic ability, confidence. She also has the strength. Great start.

:09:05. > :09:09.Looking super-fast and super-smooth. Sat right in the back seat over the

:09:09. > :09:15.double. Hopefully she has taken some confidence from Anna Meares on

:09:15. > :09:21.the track last night he got a medal from Victoria Pendleton. Into the

:09:21. > :09:26.second term. She even landed a bit long after the step up. There will

:09:26. > :09:32.be a lot of nerves in these first time trials. The first lap in front

:09:32. > :09:38.of the crowd, and every seat is filled. Very, very smooth in the

:09:38. > :09:43.rhythm section. And she takes first place. That is so telling. It

:09:43. > :09:46.didn't look that fast, but she is two-tenths of a second ahead of

:09:46. > :09:50.Sarah Walker but she didn't look like she had the pedal down.

:09:50. > :10:00.but she kept its mood. A good lap, and she is one of the favourites. -

:10:00. > :10:25.

:10:25. > :10:33.- kept its smooth. She is the 2012 of the traps. Turning the vertical

:10:33. > :10:38.into forward speed. Now on the second straight. Clear on the jumps.

:10:38. > :10:43.Nice and fast, can she get on a power for the rhythm section?

:10:43. > :10:50.this is the telling section. If you get this wrong you will lose huge

:10:50. > :10:53.amounts of speed. And nice and safe flat so far. Nothing flashy. Just

:10:53. > :10:59.getting the first one out of the way nice and clean. Whether she

:10:59. > :11:03.finished? Quite a long way down. There was something on the start of

:11:03. > :11:09.the straight, clipping the first step up, but that is a long way

:11:09. > :11:17.down. A big disadvantage when it comes to date selection in the

:11:17. > :11:21.semi-finals. The seeding works to give them a gate position. But

:11:21. > :11:25.there are five races and it is quite a complex format. There are

:11:25. > :11:31.five races for the men in the quarter-finals. It would take us

:11:32. > :11:35.until tomorrow to explain the process. But this ceding only works

:11:35. > :11:41.for the first race, but after that it is the positioning from the

:11:41. > :11:45.previous race. The pressure is on to perform in every lap you undergo.

:11:45. > :11:52.If you do make a mistake, it is not the end of the world and you are

:11:52. > :12:01.still in the event, but they are rewarding consistency. So, Caroline

:12:01. > :12:11.Buchanan in the first. Sarah Walker will be happy with her run. Shanaze

:12:11. > :12:17.

:12:17. > :12:25.She will not post a time, but fantastic runs for the Australians

:12:25. > :12:29.They will be back for the semi- finals on Friday and the men's run

:12:29. > :12:33.it will be back a little later. But when there are eight riders going

:12:33. > :12:39.down the track it is something to watch. We will take you back to

:12:39. > :12:44.Greenwich Park. A short time ago we saw the gold medal decided and it

:12:44. > :12:48.ended in disappointment for the two British riders, Scott Brash and

:12:48. > :12:55.Nick Skelton who finished out of the melt Mable -- out of the medals.

:12:55. > :13:00.But there was a race for the decision on the silver. Schroder

:13:00. > :13:10.was the first to go, so let's go back to Greenwich Park and see who

:13:10. > :13:12.

:13:12. > :13:22.won silver. The commentators are clock for the silver and bronze

:13:22. > :13:28.

:13:28. > :13:33.first round. Spinning back, right handed. Tactically, he has to

:13:33. > :13:43.decide what to do, and he's having a go. He can jump a fast Clear,

:13:43. > :13:56.

:13:56. > :14:01.putting all the pressure on This is the big water tray. Two to

:14:01. > :14:09.jump, back to the London bus. Taking it on the ankle, he is

:14:09. > :14:19.jumping a really good round here, galloping to the last fence. A

:14:19. > :14:23.

:14:23. > :14:31.will it be bronze? This was practically the perfect round, he

:14:31. > :14:35.didn't take crazy chances. But it is such a fast time. Only one thing

:14:35. > :14:43.for a, to do, and that is go for it, he is going to have to take a

:14:43. > :14:48.chance -- for O'Connor to do. It is a big ask. This is a small horse

:14:48. > :14:54.was not such a day Kanter. Well that ride has set the standard.

:14:54. > :14:59.This man rides very well against the clock, he is hugely competitive.

:14:59. > :15:04.And he has, with this horse, performed a miracle. Here only to

:15:04. > :15:11.get on in December this year, having sold his top horse to Saudi

:15:11. > :15:21.Arabia. He hears, jumping off a four silver or bronze. -- here he

:15:21. > :15:49.

:15:49. > :15:57.have to turn up tight. Taking a He is up on the clock. He is quite

:15:57. > :16:07.a long way up. He has galloped over that. This looks like a silver

:16:07. > :16:12.

:16:12. > :16:20.way up on the clock, he could afford to take it, but it is bronze

:16:20. > :16:30.for Ireland. It is silver for the Dutchman, Schroder. And of course,

:16:30. > :16:31.

:16:31. > :16:37.He missed out on the silver, but a well earned a bronze, Ireland's

:16:37. > :16:46.first medal of these games. There was disappointment earlier for Nick

:16:46. > :16:52.Skelton and Scott Brash. The let's One fence down, he finished 5th,

:16:52. > :17:00.what is your reaction? Are gutted, absolutely gutted. I don't know,

:17:00. > :17:07.horses can get tired, I can make a lot of excuses, maybe I was a

:17:07. > :17:17.fraction too close, but that is how I would ride it, it is short in the

:17:17. > :17:18.

:17:18. > :17:23.middle. That is my first reaction, but it is a cruel sport. I feel I

:17:23. > :17:26.should be jumping off for a gold medal. In a sense, does it make the

:17:26. > :17:33.achievement of a team gold even better? You know how tough it is to

:17:33. > :17:38.win any medal here. Yes, it is fantastic. I am still gutted, but

:17:38. > :17:43.at times like this, you have got to not be greedy, people are dying in

:17:43. > :17:48.the world, and all sorts. I'm just grateful to be here, my horse is

:17:48. > :17:55.jumping excellent. There are loads more competitions to come, I am

:17:55. > :18:02.going to Canada soon. He would do good things, this horse. I have to

:18:02. > :18:09.look on the bright side, but I am gutted at the moment. Plenty more

:18:09. > :18:14.Olympics for you. A I hope so. They did when team gold, and there

:18:14. > :18:18.could be more medals for Britain tomorrow in the dressage. Now we

:18:18. > :18:23.turn our attention for hockey. For the first time since 1988, both

:18:23. > :18:28.Britain teams are through to the semi-finals. Britain's women play

:18:28. > :18:38.tonight at 8pm, that will be live on BBC Three, they will face

:18:38. > :18:42.

:18:42. > :18:48.This afternoon sees the reigning champions and an -- love the lens

:18:48. > :18:52.take on New Zealand. It is the Netherlands versus New Zealand for

:18:52. > :19:02.a place in the final. We will be joining me live in a moment, let

:19:02. > :19:13.

:19:13. > :19:23.catch up on the best of the action is a start that may well set up a

:19:23. > :19:49.

:19:49. > :19:59.cup semi-final. -- a good semi- under control. What a good attack,

:19:59. > :20:21.

:20:21. > :20:31.two of then! Nicely goal. -- nicely the early stages of the second

:20:31. > :20:35.

:20:35. > :20:42.period, leads rejoin our half to Holland. New Zealand didn't

:20:42. > :20:52.take the chance to get rid of the ball. The Dutch appealed, and the

:20:52. > :21:30.

:21:30. > :21:40.umpire was fully in agreement. Big She is battling to get her team

:21:40. > :21:56.

:21:56. > :22:00.back into it, and that was a big medal in women's hockey in the

:22:01. > :22:10.Olympic Games. The men one back in 1976. For the women, this is the

:22:11. > :22:34.

:22:34. > :22:37.New Zealand coach has got it right. Absolutely. You always talk about

:22:37. > :22:42.the underdog, and New Zealand, when you look at the credentials on

:22:42. > :22:46.paper and the medals that the Dutch teams have one -- have won, in

:22:46. > :22:50.comparison to the New Zealanders, you would have thought this would

:22:50. > :22:55.be a one-sided affair, but they have been the dark horses of this

:22:55. > :23:00.tournament and they deserve to be in the semi-finals. The only game

:23:00. > :23:04.they were disappointing in was against Argentina, it was almost

:23:04. > :23:08.back to nerves and the occasion. But here, they have come out and

:23:08. > :23:18.they have played really well for the whole of the first half. They

:23:18. > :23:29.

:23:29. > :23:39.are causing problems at the start in 2004, -- silver in 2004, that is

:23:39. > :23:39.

:23:39. > :26:28.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 169 seconds

:26:28. > :26:35.push into the circle, more Zealand player is down. I think

:26:35. > :26:41.that has cut her head. Unfortunately, you can see it

:26:41. > :26:51.because she has got blonde hair, just a slight... I think it is on

:26:51. > :27:12.

:27:12. > :27:18.the side of the head, very brave is verging on stupid. -- defending.

:27:18. > :27:28.That is what happened to Kate Walsh the other evening. That was a heck

:27:28. > :28:06.

:28:06. > :28:16.of a swing, the stick was very high. only a short time. We have another

:28:16. > :28:17.

:28:17. > :28:22.own little moment for the men and their cleaning material. And that

:28:22. > :28:32.side, that corner, has seen most of the action. Every time you see them,

:28:32. > :28:43.

:28:43. > :28:47.very quiet. They are just realising what can happen in this game. The

:28:47. > :28:55.ball does travel around at a fair old lick, and to be hit with a

:28:55. > :29:01.stick with that amount of force... The goalkeeper also made a very

:29:01. > :29:10.good save, incidentally. Well- positioned. Clear out the ball and

:29:10. > :29:20.that was the follow-up. The cleaners have been and done it. We

:29:20. > :29:36.

:29:36. > :29:43.can continue. 24 minutes remaining it might be something that sparks

:29:43. > :29:46.the New Zealanders into life again. They have scored one goal and had

:29:47. > :29:51.another penalty corner, but I don't think Joyce Sombroek has had much

:29:51. > :29:55.to do it in the Dutch goal for all the possession at New Zealand have

:29:55. > :30:05.had. They are just not getting the outcomes once they get into the

:30:05. > :30:05.

:30:05. > :31:21.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 169 seconds

:31:21. > :31:31.Dutch circle. That will be whisked a long corner. Sharland was waiting.

:31:31. > :32:00.

:32:00. > :32:06.say out of the black, the goalkeeper advanced and Forgesson

:32:06. > :32:10.beat her on the near post. fantastic counter-attack by New

:32:10. > :32:16.Zealand. Started initially by Anita Punt on the left-hand side, playing

:32:16. > :32:19.the ball back to Michelsen. Somehow New Zealand ended up with the

:32:19. > :32:24.player unmarked in the circle, and Joyce Sombroek has her angles

:32:24. > :32:30.horribly wrong. Maybe she thought there would be a deflection, but

:32:30. > :32:40.that is why the defence is there. New Zealand lead for the second

:32:40. > :32:40.

:32:40. > :33:21.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 169 seconds

:33:21. > :33:31.beating the No. 1 team in the rankings. -- the number 16. -- No.

:33:31. > :33:31.

:33:31. > :35:41.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 169 seconds

:35:41. > :35:45.captain plays a hospital pass like Anita Punt lost a stick at that

:35:45. > :35:55.point. She was almost in full flow. There are not too many in can keep

:35:55. > :36:13.

:36:13. > :36:23.up with her. -- who cannot keep up herbal. -- van den Heuvel. The

:36:23. > :36:45.

:36:45. > :36:52.referral saying it hit one of the New Zealander's feet inside the

:36:52. > :36:57.circle. I wonder if that was before or after abandoned where all -- van

:36:57. > :37:02.den Heuvel touched it. In my opinion that should be a hit out to

:37:03. > :37:10.New Zealand for dangerous play. It has hit the foot, but it is

:37:10. > :37:17.dangerous play. The that is a very fair point. Of course, she does not

:37:17. > :37:27.get the chance to have a look at it. She is going to take the advance --

:37:27. > :37:31.

:37:31. > :37:38.angles, try to, with the decision. -- are trying to come up with a

:37:38. > :37:41.decision. If I was the New Zealand captain right now I would be

:37:41. > :37:51.somewhere in the vicinity of the umpire making the point about the

:37:51. > :38:11.

:38:11. > :38:18.danger. And Sharland is exactly in that they cannot refer a referral.

:38:18. > :38:27.But you would think that the video umpire, who is Keighley had some of

:38:27. > :38:31.New Zealand -- Kelly had some. She might have mentioned it.

:38:31. > :38:39.problem is the video umpire can only answer the question that she

:38:39. > :38:43.has been asked, which was did it hit feet in the circle? So the

:02:38. > :02:43.situation than penalties and it will be interesting to see how the

:02:43. > :02:47.coaches set out for these periods. Do they keep playing the way they

:02:47. > :02:51.are and risk a goal at the other end? The question is more over the

:02:51. > :02:55.Dutch. New Zealand have such pace in the counter-attack but it is

:02:55. > :03:00.probably the Dutch who will be more nervous about trying to get the

:03:05. > :03:09.when you refer to the penalties, they will not be the same as people

:03:10. > :03:13.are used to watching football. they will not be. There is a new

:03:26. > :03:31.as possible in the eight seconds. I think it is more entertaining for

:03:31. > :03:35.the crowd that way. It is something I would like to see when a penalty

:03:35. > :03:39.is given within the game. Players now are practising that skill, and

:03:39. > :03:45.I think it entertains the Crown far more if you have a one-on-one

:37:23. > :37:30.double on Saturday evening in the 5,000 metres. It could be another

:37:30. > :37:35.Super Saturday in that stadium. And this is the show jumping. The team

:37:35. > :37:39.champions Great Britain came away empty handed in the individual show

:37:39. > :37:45.jumping, one error proving costly for both Nick Skelton and Scott

:37:59. > :38:04.

:38:04. > :38:09.I am seeking this at a time when I feel rather adrift. I have done a

:38:09. > :38:16.complete U-turn on Hendry. If she had really cared for her, she would

:38:16. > :38:26.not have kicked her out. I like how that makes me feel. He poisoned

:38:26. > :38:27.

:38:27. > :38:32.himself in the House of Bill fame! That is coming up soon on BBC One,

:38:32. > :38:35.we are heading to the BMX track to see the men's time trial and Liam

:38:35. > :38:40.Phillips from grit of -- Britain. There was some doubt he would be

:38:40. > :38:50.able to compete after breaking his collarbone in Birmingham, but these

:38:50. > :38:52.

:38:52. > :38:55.racers are tough and fearless. fantastic time-trial rider. He

:38:56. > :39:00.qualified first in the world championships this year, I think.

:39:00. > :39:03.Yes, and definitely one of the favourites this week. He has put

:39:03. > :39:11.himself together after his accident in the world championships. Let's

:39:12. > :39:19.see if he can make the fastest lap -- lap. Nice and smooth, let's see

:39:19. > :39:25.if he can keep it up. Come on, Liam. He just tank to the knuckle on the

:39:25. > :39:30.step, slightly. He is carrying Speed and looking very good into

:39:30. > :39:36.the rhythm section. The crowd going nuts, like they have all week at

:39:36. > :39:40.the Velodrome. It is great to see this fantastic crowd. Fantastic

:39:40. > :39:46.work on the back of the third straight. And he is the fastest

:39:46. > :39:56.time so far! He has smashed it. Three-tenths of a second quicker

:39:56. > :39:56.

:39:56. > :40:00.than the rider from New Zealand. Very, very nice time at for Liam. I

:40:00. > :40:05.do apologise, he did only get second in the world championship

:40:05. > :40:11.time-trials. I was getting carried away. A nice, tidy lap from Liam.

:40:11. > :40:15.I'm sure he has had lots of practice on the track. He would

:40:15. > :40:25.have been nervous after coming back from injury, but he has come out

:40:25. > :40:26.

:40:26. > :40:31.and shown what he has got in his lap. Another one of the Dutch

:40:31. > :40:38.production line. He is bound to put in a solid lap. Let's see what he

:40:38. > :40:42.has got. If you can make the first four, you can get the best seeding.

:40:42. > :40:48.If you are in the first eight, you're in a good position to choose

:40:48. > :40:53.your gate for the quarter-finals. A lot of moving of the bike here.

:40:53. > :41:00.is doing very well so far, very smooth. He took the first bump

:41:00. > :41:05.perfectly. Nice and smooth through the rhythm section, opting to jump

:41:05. > :41:12.the first few. A nice line around that final corner. Generating a lot

:41:12. > :41:17.of speed. That puts him in first position, that was a good lap! I

:41:17. > :41:22.think he gained most of that down the first-rate, very smooth on the

:41:22. > :41:27.jumps, which helped the momentum forward. The quicker you can get

:41:27. > :41:33.the bike on the ground, the quicker you can put down the power, and he

:41:33. > :41:43.did it absolutely perfectly down the first straight. Doing a lot of

:41:43. > :41:47.

:41:47. > :41:52.work there. But he is one of the is phenomenal, and there is

:41:52. > :41:57.explosive power out of the gate. Dressed in black, hitting the back

:41:57. > :42:01.straight good. A slight bobble on the up step, but it didn't

:42:01. > :42:08.interrupt his momentum. The momentum is nice and smooth on the

:42:08. > :42:13.crossover. He is like a bomb on two wheels. Let's hope he does not get

:42:13. > :42:19.too hot or he will be suffering. has done this rhythm section

:42:19. > :42:23.beautifully file stop -- beautifully. He has made up for the

:42:23. > :42:29.straight on the rhythm section. Almost hitting to the knuckle again.

:42:29. > :42:33.I lot of riders getting caught up in the last straight up. Ended up

:42:33. > :42:39.in 7th there. I am a little bit surprised by some of the results so

:42:39. > :42:43.far in the time-trials, especially with Philips. I would have liked to

:42:43. > :42:48.have seen them a bit further up on the leaderboard. But it just shows

:42:48. > :42:53.you, when you get to these Olympic Games there are a few other factors

:42:53. > :43:00.and a lot of that is the anxiety of being here in front of this huge

:43:00. > :43:06.crowd. And also one TV in front of millions of people. It also adds

:43:06. > :43:09.that extra bit of pressure. sometimes it can go one of two ways.

:43:09. > :43:19.When you first arrive it can overwhelm you, or you can say that

:43:19. > :43:27.

:43:27. > :43:36.this kind of pressure. Now, the wily Frenchman, a fantastic rider.

:43:36. > :43:41.Nice and smooth so far. Over the crossover, up the step. The 2011

:43:42. > :43:46.world champion. He came second in Birmingham earlier this year. He

:43:46. > :43:51.has opted to John through the first half of the rhythm section. He he

:43:51. > :44:01.should be one of the major contenders this week. A pretty

:44:01. > :44:21.

:44:21. > :44:25.smooth flat, not the best, but puts which is a massive margin,

:44:25. > :44:29.considering we are getting down to the best in the world. Just two

:44:29. > :44:37.riders left to go, and this is the man a lot of people have tipped for

:44:37. > :44:40.the gold medal. A fantastic talent. He one the time-trial event at the

:44:40. > :44:49.World Championships recently in Burnley and -- he won the time-

:44:49. > :44:53.trial event. He does get a little bit frazzled in major events. But

:44:53. > :44:58.he had a fantastic lap in Birmingham. Let's see if he can

:44:58. > :45:02.pull off the same here in London. His back wheel was so low in those

:45:02. > :45:06.first two doubles. He is very dramatic on the bike, you will see

:45:06. > :45:14.a lot of movement with him, he tries to keep the bike as low as

:45:14. > :45:18.possible. He got that one a little bit wrong. Let's see what he can do

:45:18. > :45:28.down this last stride, hopefully keep it up right, all the way to

:45:28. > :45:34.

:45:34. > :45:44.the finish. He pumped as high as he well. A lot of very young riders in

:45:44. > :45:49.

:45:49. > :45:53.lot of action sport these days, and in the snowboarding, you look at

:45:53. > :46:03.the Winter Olympics, some of these younger athletes have been learning

:46:03. > :46:09.

:46:09. > :46:15.watching at home, this is not what a fall macro year old or five year-

:46:15. > :46:25.old starts off on! You only write this kind of elite track at this

:46:25. > :46:37.

:46:37. > :46:41.level. He is a lovely lad, he has jobs, but he still keeping his pace.

:46:42. > :46:45.-- these jumps. Pretty smooth so far. He is certainly a lot quicker

:46:45. > :46:50.than the last rider, who went through there with a couple of

:46:51. > :46:58.mistakes. If it evens out over the whole track, we will see. Not good

:46:58. > :47:08.at all. Said the place! That is a shock. -- 6th place. I have been

:47:08. > :47:15.

:47:15. > :47:20.quite shocked by some of these there. We have had some real upset.

:47:20. > :47:30.-- upsets. The reigning Olympic champion has been pushed out of the

:47:30. > :47:31.

:47:31. > :47:40.top 10. Liam Phillips, who has had some fantastic time trial results,

:47:40. > :47:50.is right down in 12th. A couple of the Dutch riders on leading. -- are

:47:50. > :48:13.

:48:13. > :48:18.lose any of these riders. The seeding is just to give Gate

:48:18. > :48:22.election on the first day. I suppose it gives all of these

:48:22. > :48:27.riders a taste of what is in store. It is probably one of the first

:48:27. > :48:33.time as they would have done the whole track flat out. I'm sure it

:48:33. > :48:39.has calmed down a few nerves. It has been beautiful weather here so

:48:39. > :48:43.far, hopefully that will have the same weather again tomorrow. A few

:48:43. > :48:47.surprises in the time-trial, but nevertheless, there is a lot of

:48:47. > :48:56.sports science guys here, there will be a lot of analysis back at

:48:56. > :49:00.We are really looking forward to tomorrow, it is the quarter-finals.

:49:00. > :49:06.Eight riders on the track at any one time, going at speeds of up to

:49:06. > :49:11.40 mph. As far as volley ball, the indoor version has delighted crowds

:49:11. > :49:16.at Earls Court. All four quarter- finals are played today. Brazil,

:49:16. > :49:26.who have one the last three World Championships beat Brazil. We are

:49:26. > :49:26.

:49:26. > :49:30.going to be concentrating on the other one's boss --. A volley ball

:49:30. > :49:35.is being played at Earls Court, and we are concentrating on the US

:49:35. > :49:45.against Italy. The state beat Italy just a month ago, but as we join it,

:49:45. > :50:21.

:50:21. > :50:31.Italy have taken the first two set. head-to-heads in the Olympic Games.

:50:31. > :50:50.

:50:50. > :51:00.They can't do anything about that. And it four more., and Italy have

:51:00. > :51:05.

:51:05. > :51:15.terms of head-to-heads in the big matches, Italy have the advantage,

:51:15. > :51:38.

:51:38. > :51:48.They are perplexed, they are puzzled. They are now staring

:51:48. > :51:49.

:51:49. > :51:53.Olympic elimination for in the face. Four points stand in the way of

:51:53. > :51:57.Italy getting through, and they will restart with the serve, with

:51:57. > :52:07.the advantage, and with every intention of closing this out. They

:52:07. > :52:31.

:52:31. > :52:41.have played absolutely Broca. The USA are going for height

:52:41. > :53:02.

:53:02. > :53:08.of the Olympic Games. The Olympic champions are set for defeat,

:53:08. > :53:18.unless they can prove that they could dig themselves out of a huge

:53:18. > :53:30.

:53:30. > :53:40.hole. They have been playing catch- at the moment. And for Italy, it

:53:40. > :53:41.

:53:41. > :53:49.looks so easy. Two aces, and a perfect, perfect tip. They need two

:53:49. > :53:55.more. What a time to do that. clever play. A little bit of missed

:53:55. > :54:01.communication, excellent in Pohl's play. They look so happy, they are

:54:01. > :54:11.really enjoying this. Italy have never one an Olympic gold at

:54:11. > :54:50.

:54:50. > :54:58.volleyball. -- have never won to Italy. Whether the champions

:54:58. > :55:02.like it or not, believe it or not, they are about to be eliminated.

:55:02. > :55:12.Three times the Olympic champions, the defending champions, but it all

:55:12. > :55:22.

:55:22. > :55:32.net. But it is only one match point saved. Four more still to go. The

:55:32. > :55:54.

:55:54. > :56:04.the Olympics for America! The champions have been felled. Italy

:56:04. > :56:09.So, still two more quarter-finals to come tonight, but what a shock

:56:09. > :56:14.there, Italy putting out the USA. We are about to go either to BBC

:56:14. > :56:21.Two. I can tell you we will have table tennis, and we will also have

:56:21. > :56:28.a saving report as well, and coming up at 7pm on BBC One, the athletics,

:56:28. > :56:38.and nervous evening for Andy Turner, in the 110 metres hurdles semi-

:56:38. > :56:47.

:56:47. > :56:57.finals, at 7:15pm. The final will We have got Allyson Felix and Sanya
