:00:53. > :00:57.Welcome once again to our Olympic coverage. Not long to go now.
:00:57. > :01:02.Tomorrow evening, we will be preparing for the closing ceremony
:01:02. > :01:07.and it proposes to be a rousing finale. The end is not far away but
:01:08. > :01:11.there is still plenty of sport and medals to be won before then.
:01:11. > :01:19.In colluding in this programme, the modern Pentathlon, which has taken
:01:19. > :01:22.place today. The athletes take place -- take part in five sports
:01:22. > :01:27.in one day. And then the bronze medal handball game between South
:01:27. > :01:33.Korea and Spain. And then back to Greenwich Park for the course it --
:01:33. > :01:37.for the three kilometre run. Then we will be on to the athletics at
:01:38. > :01:43.7:15pm, and Mo Farah goes for the long-distance double in the 5,000
:01:43. > :01:51.metres. That is live at 7:30pm. The modern Pentathlon is the event
:01:51. > :01:55.to find a complete athlete. They have to run, swim, and shoot at
:01:55. > :02:01.targets ever read -- every three, amateurs, and Friday horse they do
:02:01. > :02:09.not know. A surprise leader so far from China. He does claim his two
:02:09. > :02:19.favourite events are swimming and fencing. The world number one from

:02:43. > :02:48.and only get 20 minutes in the warm-up area before going into the

:04:02. > :04:08.camps in the French Pyrenees. And they have had a break a few weeks
:04:08. > :04:15.back to come back for some high quality riding training. Sam will
:04:15. > :04:25.be looking to put that into practice today. Ooh, unlucky there.
:04:25. > :04:38.
:04:38. > :04:42.And that's a great round for Sam. Just picking up a few time
:04:42. > :04:48.penalties there as well, but otherwise I think he will be happy
:04:48. > :04:58.with that. Well received and appreciated by the crowd here in
:04:58. > :05:04.Greenwich. That was a good round for Sam's Weale. Still only one
:05:04. > :05:08.clear ground. He will be very satisfied with how that has gone.
:05:08. > :05:13.His second Olympic Games after his experience in Beijing, and I am

:07:13. > :07:23.Unfortunately, some time faults to add to that, which could prove

:07:33. > :07:35.
:07:35. > :07:40.But 24 time faults. 44 points for Nick Woodbridge. He is the current
:07:40. > :07:45.leader in the competition. But, remember, the top seven athletes
:07:45. > :07:51.are still to go. But a lot will depend on what happens with how
:07:51. > :07:57.many fences are brought down. At the moment, Nick Woodbridge leads,
:07:57. > :08:03.with the German second, and Sam Weale in third. But we are moving
:08:03. > :08:13.out into the top seven. The Hungarian is the first of that top

:08:13. > :09:18.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 81 seconds
:09:18. > :09:28.horseman, lots of experience. So I fences. Could this be the next
:09:28. > :09:31.clear round? And it is. Look at his reaction! Fantastic! They have
:09:31. > :09:36.waited a long time for a clear round in the arena and the
:09:36. > :09:42.Hungarian fans are enjoying that as well. He is obviously delighted
:09:42. > :09:47.with that. Really responding to the crowd there as well. He is quite a
:09:47. > :09:53.character. Very popular on the Pentathlon circuit. That will put
:09:53. > :10:02.him into an excellent position when it comes to the combined event. He
:10:02. > :10:09.is top of the leaderboard. So, six more riders to go. Nick Woodbridge
:10:09. > :10:13.still in second place. The German in third. Well done to Adam.
:10:13. > :10:23.Getting Trinidad well over those jobs. Just proves that it can be

:12:43. > :12:51.fantastic! And we have a group of Hungarian supporters sitting behind
:12:52. > :12:57.us in our commentary area, and they are really enjoying this now
:12:57. > :13:00.because they have such a tradition in the modern Pentathlon. Currently
:13:00. > :13:10.lying in first and second position, both taking maximum points from
:13:10. > :13:13.
:13:13. > :13:20.their round. And the Italian also with 1,200 points, but he had a
:13:20. > :13:23.poor first two events. We expected the Hungarians to be up there and
:13:23. > :13:32.they have certainly proved what great all-round pentathlete says
:13:32. > :13:36.they are. -- all round pentathletes they are. The Hungarians back home
:13:36. > :13:43.will be very pleased with this. They just have the combined event
:13:43. > :13:53.to come. So, at the moment, as it stands, Robert will go off the
:13:53. > :13:55.
:13:55. > :14:05.first. Adam will go second. But some very good pentathletes to come.
:14:05. > :14:27.
:14:27. > :14:31.Including the athlete to set a new I said earlier, it is a case of
:14:31. > :14:36.building up the horse and rider as a team as they go round the course.

:14:59. > :15:07.and safely through that. Back to the London montage. The horse does
:15:07. > :15:17.not seem to like the look of that one. Now, it looks like he is
:15:17. > :15:28.
:15:28. > :15:38.and has moved on to the next fence, but that one is down now as well.
:15:38. > :15:38.
:15:38. > :15:44.And time penalties as well. The horse does not seem very happy with
:15:44. > :15:50.this any more. Not the most experienced Pentathlon rider bow-
:15:50. > :15:55.tie would have expected a better performance from him here today. --
:15:55. > :16:00.but I would have expected. Just took that last line fine the second

:18:05. > :18:13.difficulty in the riding arena. At the moment it is looking pretty
:18:13. > :18:21.good for the Hungarians. We are into the final two competitors here
:18:21. > :18:26.in the riding competition. The Czech Republic rider is
:18:26. > :18:32.acknowledging the crowd as he comes in, he was first after the fencing,
:18:32. > :18:36.equalling the Olympic record, and 17th after the swimming. He will be
:18:36. > :18:46.hoping for improved fortunes after what happened to him in Beijing,
:18:46. > :19:01.
:19:01. > :19:11.went fences were tumbling all had 60 penalty points. He will be
:19:11. > :19:45.
:19:45. > :19:52.of the combination. Luckily it didn't affect the second two
:19:52. > :19:59.elements. Safely over the London montage. Oh, the horse just
:19:59. > :20:06.hesitated as he came into that. Paid the price. I think that was a
:20:06. > :20:14.late falling pole at the Penny Black as well so he is now on 60
:20:14. > :20:20.penalty points. If you timed fork to add to that. A total of 68
:20:20. > :20:24.penalty points -- a few time faults to add to that. There will be a
:20:24. > :20:30.shake-up at the top of the rankings in this pentathlon competition.
:20:30. > :20:36.looks very relieved he has got round in one paw least -- in one
:20:36. > :20:40.piece. It will certainly be a huge relief to him after the traumas of
:20:40. > :20:46.Beijing. I am sure he may have had that in the back of his mind,
:20:46. > :20:52.coming into this competition today. He will be pleased to have that
:20:52. > :20:56.behind him now. Yes, just one more athlete to go before we get to the
:20:56. > :21:01.combined event, which is the final part of the modern pentathlon day,
:21:01. > :21:11.in which the riders will run and shoot at 15 targets using laser
:21:11. > :21:20.pistols. The leader after two events, the Chinese man, 30 years
:21:20. > :21:30.old. He prefers fencing and riding. He is the oldest athlete in the

:22:23. > :22:33.into that fence, completely. Trying to keep the balance, maintain
:22:33. > :22:38.rhythm Around the corner. A bit quick into the fence, pays the
:22:38. > :22:45.price. Lucky not to have the main part down as well. Rushing into the
:22:45. > :22:55.fence, the horse just need to be supported a bit more. Tending to
:22:55. > :22:55.
:22:55. > :23:01.rush into the fences. He now stands on 100 penalty points. A bit of a
:23:01. > :23:10.cat leap over and he takes the last as well. He finishes on 120 penalty
:23:10. > :23:16.points. That would have been frustrating for him, he had a first
:23:16. > :23:22.two events which he clearly enjoyed and relished. There is a look of
:23:22. > :23:32.resignation on the faces of the Chinese coaches. The leader after
:23:32. > :23:33.
:23:33. > :23:42.two events will not be leading going into the combined, because of
:23:42. > :23:49.the Czech man will move back to the top of the leaderboard. The leader
:23:49. > :23:58.will go off first in the combined event. The Chinese man drops into
:23:58. > :24:06.second place. Lesun will go in third place. Starting to look as if
:24:06. > :24:10.the Czech man has a very good start -- chance. But the world number one
:24:10. > :24:14.is brilliantly placed for the final event. Absolutely. It will come
:24:14. > :24:24.down to the final combined event. Who can hold their nerve under the
:24:24. > :24:34.pressure situation in the shooting part. This is how they wrote. --
:24:34. > :24:34.
:24:34. > :25:29.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 81 seconds
:25:29. > :25:35.will lined up for the combined scores. As is the nature of these
:25:35. > :25:40.competitions, we are not expecting many clear rounds. The course has
:25:40. > :25:50.been designed specifically to give an indication of the riding ability.
:25:50. > :26:00.
:26:00. > :26:04.This is the order they will go off They will start at different times,
:26:04. > :26:08.depending on their points. It is first across the line that will
:26:08. > :26:13.take the gold. Let's go back to Greenwich Park and talked to Lizzie
:26:13. > :26:19.Greenwood-Hughes. As far as Nick and Sam are concerned, what does it
:26:20. > :26:24.mean for them and where are they placed? They have moved up to 7th
:26:24. > :26:27.and 9th, it has done them a lot of good. I find the riding fascinating.
:26:27. > :26:32.They say you can't win it in the riding but you can certainly lose
:26:32. > :26:35.it. At least five out of the top 10 have maybe not thrown away their
:26:35. > :26:40.chances but made life very difficult in the final run and
:26:40. > :26:45.shoot event. Mick and Sam are very good in the run shoot. They are
:26:45. > :26:52.very strong runners and they could find themselves in with a shout of
:26:52. > :26:57.a medal. Only 16 seconds handicap. They are staggered, for every 20
:26:57. > :27:01.penalty points you get five seconds handicap in the run shoot. They
:27:01. > :27:08.could find themselves in with a chance of a medal. You mentioned
:27:08. > :27:13.the horses. In Beijing, the standard of the courses varied
:27:13. > :27:18.greatly. I think everyone coming here was expected Great Britain to
:27:18. > :27:24.produce horses -- the standard of the horses varied greatly. Were
:27:24. > :27:31.they a better grippier? Yes, I think they were very good quality.
:27:31. > :27:37.-- a better group here? I spoke to a lady who provides it many of the
:27:37. > :27:43.horses and she told me what they do. They had a test run last night, not
:27:43. > :27:47.the riders but the horses. I think many of the problems, 90% would
:27:47. > :27:52.have been rider error. Who has the best chance going into the final
:27:52. > :27:57.between Nick and Sam? You have to saying it because he will start
:27:57. > :28:01.first. -- you have to say Nick because he will start first. They
:28:01. > :28:06.have to run 3,000 metres. Every 1,000 they have to shoot with a
:28:06. > :28:10.laser pistol, five targets. You can easily find yourself dropping back
:28:10. > :28:14.if you are slightly off again. It is fantastic to watch, very
:28:14. > :28:19.exciting and we are waiting to see what happens later. I think we all
:28:19. > :28:23.remember Steph Cook in 2000. She was such a great runner and made up
:28:23. > :28:29.such time. It could also -- all change in the standings. Plenty
:28:29. > :28:39.more to come. We will be back there very soon. First, here are the main
:28:39. > :28:41.
:28:41. > :28:46.Ed McKeever won Britain's 26 gold in the Games in the kayak single
:28:46. > :28:50.200 metres. Jon Scofield and Liam Heath took bronze in the double.
:28:50. > :28:53.After scraping through yesterday's heat, Tom Daley put in a much-
:28:53. > :29:00.improved display to qualify for the best for tonight's ten-metre
:29:00. > :29:03.platform final. -- to qualifying fourth-best.
:29:03. > :29:09.The Britain's men hockey team lost 3-1 to pre-tournament favourites
:29:09. > :29:12.Australia in the bronze medal match at the Riverbank Arena.
:29:12. > :29:19.Brazil's Olympic football curse continues. The men's team working
:29:20. > :29:22.for a first ever gold but suffered a shock 2-1 defeat to Mexico.
:29:22. > :29:27.And Ben Ainslie, the most accessible sailor in Olympic
:29:27. > :29:37.history, has been given the honour of carrying the British flag at
:29:37. > :29:50.
:29:50. > :29:59.You can stay with us on BBC One but Oborne BBC Three, live basketball.
:29:59. > :30:04.Australia of winning their match. 43-35. Before we head back, I am
:30:04. > :30:08.delighted to say that here in the studio is the vice-president of the
:30:08. > :30:13.International Olympic Committee, Sir Craig Reedie, who, as we know,
:30:13. > :30:19.is the boss of the Olympic Association. And before I ask you
:30:19. > :30:24.about the Games here, you were very instrumental in even the Games are
:30:24. > :30:29.coming here. How far back did you get involved? I actually looked at
:30:29. > :30:33.some of the archives and do things the first meeting was on 12th
:30:33. > :30:39.January 1994, so this is a sort of 18 and a half year period of
:30:39. > :30:44.gestation! So you can imagine how excited we are. Because it came
:30:44. > :30:48.from the Olympic Association's through us to London, and then on.
:30:48. > :30:55.And it probably was not an easy journey to persuade the Government,
:30:55. > :30:59.the mare of London... It took a long time to get the sport right. I
:30:59. > :31:04.never thought we should be bidding against Beijing. The sheer weight
:31:04. > :31:08.of influence on a Beijing bid would have been hard to beat. So
:31:08. > :31:14.eventually 2012 became the best deal. And bringing London aboard
:31:14. > :31:19.was a relatively straightforward thing. Boris Johnson has been very
:31:19. > :31:24.supportive. Tessa Jowell helped. Tony Blair came on board and a bit
:31:24. > :31:29.of history was made. When did you first come down to this Park and
:31:29. > :31:36.stand here on the Waste Land and say, this is where we can build it?
:31:36. > :31:41.I cannot remember the date. I know it was a wet November afternoon.
:31:41. > :31:48.And one of the spores managers from LOCOG stood in the disused
:31:48. > :31:52.greyhound stadium in Hackney. -- sports managers. That was my first
:31:52. > :31:57.experience, wondering how what was going to work. But I fly in quite
:31:57. > :32:05.regularly so I actually flew over this site before we put a shovel in
:32:05. > :32:08.the ground. I got involved in 2003, helping with the bid, and standing
:32:08. > :32:13.and imagining what were if... Well, they have changed a bit from what
:32:13. > :32:20.was proposed at that point, but it was just an unbelievable
:32:20. > :32:25.regeneration. This was probably as deprived a part of London, a
:32:25. > :32:29.deprived part of the country as you can find. And honestly, the people
:32:29. > :32:33.behind the Olympic delivery, the Olympic austerity, the skills they
:32:33. > :32:37.have underfunding behind them, I'd think they have turned this into an
:32:37. > :32:42.absolutely magical place. And you can tell that by the number of
:32:42. > :32:46.happy people around the park are now. Yes, and it was so important
:32:46. > :32:52.to have the support of the British public. To get them to buy the
:32:53. > :33:00.tickets and come to the Games. And they have. Yes, in very large
:33:00. > :33:06.numbers. It was a huge challenge but it was overcome wonderfully
:33:06. > :33:11.well, and the athletes love it. The sport is great and it's a fairly
:33:11. > :33:16.reasonable contribution to the Organising Committee's costs.
:33:16. > :33:22.you needed an inspirational figure to win this bid and I know, again,
:33:22. > :33:28.you were a great supporter of Seb Coe to take this on board? Yes. He
:33:28. > :33:32.took over in mid- 2003. He brought with him Keith Mills, who became
:33:32. > :33:39.the chief executive of the bid. And we ended up as a pretty formidable
:33:39. > :33:44.team. As it turned out. But it has been a wonderful journey. It has,
:33:44. > :33:49.and you must be a very proud man. You must be such a proud man to be
:33:49. > :33:54.here and see what has happened. new look at what has happened since
:33:54. > :33:58.the Games started, all the big things have been marvellous. The
:33:58. > :34:03.sport is just terrific. I have almost lost count of the number of
:34:03. > :34:08.world records that have been made here in London. The venues are
:34:08. > :34:12.terrific. The crowds are terrific. The village is marvellous and the
:34:12. > :34:16.athletes are happy. People are getting around easily and the
:34:16. > :34:22.transport system works. If you sat down and wrote a plan and thought,
:34:22. > :34:28.is it going to work? This is where you would wanted to end up.
:34:28. > :34:32.also different from other Games. So many iconic venues, like Lords, a
:34:32. > :34:39.Horse Guards Parade. It has been wonderful for foreign visitors
:34:39. > :34:44.coming to enjoy the Games? Yes. There is not much doubt that the
:34:44. > :34:49.Games has been wonderful for foreigners. We have used the
:34:49. > :34:54.grounds to great effect and we have been smart at using temporary
:34:54. > :35:00.stadiums, for example, the ExCel Centre. It has worked extremely
:35:00. > :35:04.well. I also think, however, the Games have been good for London.
:35:04. > :35:08.There is a buzz about the city and an enjoyment, and I am not sure we
:35:08. > :35:15.ever thought we could deliver that. A thing that goes beyond the whole
:35:15. > :35:23.of Great Britain. -- I think. And many of these venues have been
:35:23. > :35:30.moved to other parts of the UK. Anybody who would like to buy a
:35:30. > :35:36.basketball venue! There are not many 250-metre swimming pools in
:35:36. > :35:43.London. The stadium will remain behind us. The copper blocks will
:35:43. > :35:48.stay as a community centre. And also the velodrome, which has seen
:35:48. > :35:53.a few pretty important moments. the weather has been kind as well,
:35:53. > :35:57.which has helped. I know you have been around the venues and I bumped
:35:57. > :36:07.into you when Andy Murray beat Federer. You have been enjoying the
:36:07. > :36:08.
:36:08. > :36:11.Games? Yes. My role here is probably to see if my colleagues
:36:11. > :36:16.and the Presidents of the International Sports Federation are
:36:16. > :36:20.happy. And they think this is as good as they have ever had for
:36:20. > :36:23.their sport at an Olympic Games, and that is really very pleasing.
:36:23. > :36:27.And I know the British team, you are very much involved and have
:36:27. > :36:31.been involved with the British team over the years. You must be very
:36:31. > :36:38.proud they have delivered on home soil? There have been absolutely
:36:38. > :36:45.outstanding and that helps the spirit and the enjoyment of the
:36:45. > :36:49.team Games. The aspirational target was in the medal table in London.
:36:49. > :36:54.In Beijing. If anything, it put more pressure on the governing
:36:54. > :36:58.bodies to deliver. They have been well resourced and financed over
:36:58. > :37:03.the last few years. They have pulled the team together, a large
:37:03. > :37:07.team, very well and presented them well. I am just so pleased that so
:37:07. > :37:11.many athletes are having the time of their lives. And hopefully we
:37:11. > :37:15.will then be able to give back, because the whole point was that it
:37:15. > :37:20.was awarded to London because of the legacy, and now we have to use
:37:20. > :37:25.this legacy to highlight sport and get youngsters more involved.
:37:26. > :37:32.When we started this, as a pose a major intention was to start to try
:37:32. > :37:37.to put sport, and I suppose an Olympic sport, up the political
:37:37. > :37:42.agenda. -- I suppose. It is now somebody else's opportunity to pick
:37:42. > :37:48.up the ball and run with it. There will be ways it can be done. The
:37:48. > :37:53.ball is there and somebody needs to pick it up and run with it. Because
:37:53. > :37:56.these have been such a wonderful Games. Thank you for coming in to
:37:56. > :38:00.talk to us. We are moving on because the sport
:38:00. > :38:03.keeps coming and the metals will be decided today in the women's
:38:04. > :38:09.handbook. The gold medal match features the mighty Norway. They
:38:09. > :38:14.are the favourites, up against Montenegro. This tiny Balkan state
:38:14. > :38:20.could win its first medal this evening. But Spain also have their
:38:20. > :38:30.first chance to win a medal in the women's handball. They play South
:38:30. > :38:34.
:38:34. > :38:42.Korea and we joined it live. The against Spain in this bronze-medal
:38:42. > :38:47.play-off. The Handball Arena, of course, formerly the Basketball
:38:47. > :38:53.Arena. The South Koreans are looking very tired. But the coach
:38:53. > :39:00.knows they are giving everything they can. The problem is, they are
:39:00. > :39:07.missing three key players. They lost a couple earlier in the
:39:07. > :39:11.competition due to a knee and a wrist injury. He has to overturn
:39:11. > :39:15.the bench and maintained the pressure and it does not matter how
:39:15. > :39:20.much they work, and they have been connecting very well indeed, they
:39:20. > :39:26.just cannot get back. And yet it started so well for South Korea.
:39:26. > :39:31.11-7 up in the first of and then the eight-and-a-half minute spell
:39:31. > :39:35.when they dried out and the Spaniards hit them with six poles.
:39:35. > :39:45.Although they have managed to leverets since, it is Spain who
:39:45. > :39:47.
:39:47. > :39:57.keep on ageing in front. -- managed to level things since. A slow shot.
:39:57. > :40:07.A late reaction from the Spanish keeper. And you have got to get to
:40:07. > :40:08.
:40:08. > :40:15.the point of impact, so, into the 20th a minute we go. 23-21 to Spain.
:40:15. > :40:20.She looks to the line... Could save. And now South Korea need to press
:40:20. > :40:30.on. This is where they are normally strong, on the break. And they have
:40:30. > :40:31.
:40:31. > :40:37.lost possession. She should not have done that. A giveaway. Picked
:40:37. > :40:47.up comfortably by the South Korean, that loose ball. The Spanish
:40:47. > :40:54.
:40:54. > :40:59.captain socks in and you can see ball, so she does not get a penalty.
:40:59. > :41:07.It is only a free throw. 10 minutes remaining in the bronze-medal play-
:41:07. > :41:17.off. That is more like it! Her third goal of the game, but we have
:41:17. > :41:19.
:41:19. > :41:27.an injury for South Korea. The left-winger. This is the collision.
:41:27. > :41:37.Crashes head to head. The Spaniard seems unscathed but the winger has
:41:37. > :41:37.
:41:37. > :41:42.been felled by it. That is going to hurt. They have been so unlucky. We
:41:42. > :41:47.have seen the strapping on her leg as well. And the Spaniard has come
:41:47. > :41:51.off with a bit of a sore head as well. But an ice pack seems to do
:41:51. > :41:55.the trick for her while the South Korean goes on to the bench to
:41:55. > :42:01.recover. So, inside the last 10 minutes and Spain leading by just
:42:01. > :42:05.one. It is almost as if the South Koreans have crept up unseen,
:42:05. > :42:14.because very slowly they have picked up a couple of goals and
:42:14. > :42:24.they are trying to settle down. The Spaniards, who have led by up to
:42:24. > :42:24.
:42:24. > :42:29.four in the second half. That was at 20-16. And then a changeover
:42:29. > :42:38.from when South Korea were leading 11-7. The two teams are level
:42:38. > :42:44.pegging each other. We could have a two-minute suspension here. And I
:42:44. > :42:50.think it is the Spaniard who has gone down. The South Korean number
:42:50. > :43:00.nine, with that brush there. She gets herself a two-minute
:43:00. > :43:01.
:43:01. > :43:07.suspension. -- that push. Just takes a breather. She has given
:43:07. > :43:17.absolutely everything. Only two goals but she is working so hard to
:43:17. > :43:33.
:43:33. > :43:43.create opportunities for her team They are trying to isolate her at
:43:43. > :43:45.
:43:45. > :43:53.the moment by cutting the wing. That wasn't too 4 off! -- far off.
:43:53. > :44:00.There's the bird's eye view. You could see it was going too far left.
:44:00. > :44:09.The keeper probably would have just got back to it. So, Spain, back to
:44:09. > :44:19.full strength. That was given away cheaply. Over all in the
:44:19. > :44:24.competition, 39 goals for this prayer. Only two today. She has
:44:24. > :44:28.tried to step up to the plight, the 22-year-old from Seoul. The least
:44:29. > :44:36.experienced player but she comes up against a player who is in no mood
:44:37. > :44:46.to concede anything here. Almost in tears when Spain lost their semi-

:44:57. > :45:03.clock down. I am not sure the referees will give them that long.
:45:03. > :45:08.The arm goes up on the referee. That means that the South Koreans
:45:08. > :45:13.have been warned that the referee is about to... There is no specific
:45:13. > :45:19.time, it is the referee's decision. That will be a corner throw to
:45:19. > :45:25.South Korea. With the arm still raised, it means take a shot sooner
:45:25. > :45:35.or what lose the ball. Cuadrado has taken a blow and is looking in some
:45:35. > :45:37.
:45:37. > :45:42.pain. This is when the shot came in. She tried to blast it. She caught
:45:42. > :45:52.Cuadrado with the follow-through. Quite accidental, but it is painful.
:45:52. > :45:54.
:45:54. > :46:00.shot, they have run out of time. -- tries to take a shot. The referee
:46:00. > :46:04.has had his arm up for quite a while. It is a subjective decision.
:46:04. > :46:09.In Hannibal, the referee judges it, when they feel you're not making
:46:09. > :46:13.enough effort -- in handball, the referee judges it. If you don't
:46:13. > :46:21.look like you're taking a good drive at goal, they will eventually
:46:21. > :46:26.just blow the whistle and hand the ball over. Mangue. Aguilar is
:46:26. > :46:33.waiting. She looks for the line, it is stolen. Off goes South Korea.
:46:33. > :46:37.The experienced winger put it away comfortably. A third of the game
:46:37. > :46:46.for the 34-year-old. The veteran of three world championships. She was
:46:46. > :46:52.in Athens but missed Beijing. They have just kind of smuggled
:46:52. > :47:02.themselves back into the game, South Korea. The loose ball was
:47:02. > :47:03.
:47:03. > :47:12.picked up there by South Korea and They had done very well to stem the

:47:16. > :47:21.There is more energy all of a sudden, they feel they are within
:47:21. > :47:31.touching distance. The pass was unfortunately much too high and it
:47:31. > :47:32.
:47:32. > :47:36.goes out of play. Such a shame. They used a lot of resin on their
:47:36. > :47:46.hands. It is possible that the ball got caught on her hand as she tried

:47:47. > :47:52.to make the pass, under some Straight through, it is a penalty.
:47:52. > :47:56.Aguilar, again, drives through, find the gap in the South Korean
:47:56. > :48:04.defence, and that is tired this. Normally they are so quick at

:48:14. > :48:22.
:48:22. > :48:26.And she caused -- is caused. The Spanish fans are on their feet. --
:48:26. > :48:34.and she scores. A aid back in front and we are well inside the last

:48:59. > :49:04.Nerves of steel are called for. It has not been a fast game. You can
:49:04. > :49:14.clearly see this is the eighth match in two weeks for these teams
:49:14. > :49:15.
:49:15. > :49:20.and it takes its toll. A foul on Fernandez. The centre-back player -
:49:20. > :49:30.- the back player was sent flying. She has her calf heavily strapped
:49:30. > :49:31.
:49:31. > :49:35.and that is quite recent. She takes a very hard for. She has gone off.
:49:35. > :49:45.Barno comes into the attack. Mangue tries to go through, it is a
:49:45. > :49:50.
:49:50. > :49:57.penalty. Sandwiched, there. Mangue can take it. A strong player to
:49:57. > :50:05.drive through to the Six metre line. She goes in the gap between the
:50:05. > :50:09.other two players. Once more, Fernandez steps up. She put it wide.
:50:10. > :50:14.A change of tactics. The goalkeeper came a long way forward. Last time
:50:14. > :50:19.she stood right back on her line. The goalkeeper can move as much as
:50:19. > :50:25.she likes before the penalty is taken. She can come right up to the
:50:25. > :50:30.four-metre line. There is a white dot in the background. She is just
:50:30. > :50:39.three metres in front of the penalty taker. A fumble, a double
:50:39. > :50:44.double. They give the ball away -- double dribble. Spain are leading

:51:39. > :51:49.inside the last two minutes. If the scores are tied, this will go to
:51:49. > :52:04.
:52:04. > :52:08.extra time. They need to get Two missed penalties by Fernandez

:52:30. > :52:39.Very formulaic, and the Korean coach. He looks for moves which
:52:39. > :52:44.give the players two or three Interestingly, there is an extra
:52:44. > :52:50.player on the board. He has put a bit of tape on one of the markers.
:52:50. > :52:58.I wonder if it is the idea to take an extra player on. You can do that
:52:58. > :53:02.by taking off your goalkeeper and putting on an extra quarter player.
:53:02. > :53:07.The South Korean goalkeeper has made one save and she will say she
:53:07. > :53:13.put off Fernandez, who put her penalty wide. They are not putting

:53:57. > :54:02.cannot believe it, he thought it was level. They are quite right,
:54:02. > :54:06.the referees, she is inside the area, but she was fouled first.

:55:03. > :55:08.you thought the South Koreans could not do it anymore, but they could,
:55:08. > :55:16.they came back. It has changed back and the scores are tied in the

:56:02. > :56:10.Spain, in possession. They need to make absolutely sure when they

:56:17. > :56:24.Saved, the ball is loose! Into the wing! It won't count, it won't
:56:24. > :56:29.count. The whistle had gone just before the shot was taken. She

:56:34. > :56:41.tried to look call, but he was looking all over the bench. How
:56:41. > :56:45.unlucky. -- he was leaping all over. The Danish referee was right by her
:56:45. > :56:50.and could see in the distance, he could hear the buzzer and he could

:56:55. > :57:00.It was almost an attacking foul but they picked it up, they tried to

:57:32. > :57:35.
:57:35. > :57:40.his arms to say, not given. And the There it is. At the end of normal
:57:40. > :57:50.time here in the bronze-medal play- off, it is all square at 24-24.
:57:50. > :57:54.You will be able to watch that live on the red button. We will continue
:57:54. > :57:58.to keep you up-to-date on BBC One. Yesterday at the Riverbank Arena,
:57:58. > :58:03.Britain's women hockey team won a bronze medal. Everyone was hoping
:58:03. > :58:09.that the men could do the same today. But they bounced back from a
:58:09. > :58:14.humiliating 9-2 defeat to the Netherlands? -- good day bounce-
:58:14. > :58:24.back. They were up against Australia, the top ranked team in
:58:24. > :58:33.
:58:33. > :58:39.shooting chance. And an opening goal. Suddenly found some space.
:58:39. > :58:44.Orchard gives Australia the lead. The goalkeeper will be disappointed

:59:04. > :59:10.Beautifully done. Lewis, the scorer. What a move. The Aussies were
:59:10. > :59:20.expecting the big one. Jackson cleverly puts it to Lewis. It is a
:59:20. > :59:39.
:59:39. > :59:49.very tight angle, there wasn't much off A British stick. And then off a
:59:49. > :59:55.helmet. Very clever. Not panicking. The ball in there. A messy corner.
:59:55. > :00:05.A great shotput he couldn't keep the secondary deflection out. -- a
:00:05. > :00:16.

:00:26. > :00:30.
:00:30. > :00:34.stick on it. A bit of space there, cleverly moving away to get it in.
:00:34. > :00:40.I have seen a few tears from the players there. It must have been
:00:40. > :00:47.very tough bouncing back from that 9-2 defeat? Yes. A tough day
:00:47. > :00:52.yesterday. Sorry you have to speak to me when I am so tired. But for
:00:52. > :00:56.this a bit -- but for a defeat, this is how you want to feel. We
:00:56. > :01:01.could not do any more. They were a brilliant team and they probably
:01:01. > :01:06.deserved it on the day. We were close. A few things could have made
:01:06. > :01:14.a difference because we had some scrappage goals. A couple of
:01:14. > :01:19.rebounds. Pretty gut-wrenching. fairness, though, you finished
:01:19. > :01:25.better than you have done in Beijing. In Beijing, 4th. It is
:01:25. > :01:29.getting better? It is. We don't feel like that right now. It is a
:01:29. > :01:37.hard one. It is always one of those things that, when you reflect back
:01:37. > :01:42.on it, we will be proud of these two weeks. But for the eight, nine
:01:42. > :01:47.years, four years especially, that we have been together, we will be
:01:47. > :01:54.looking to carry on. We will be proud of it but probably not right
:01:54. > :01:59.now. For four years ago, we finished 5th. But now there has
:01:59. > :02:03.been an improvement, it is so much harder to take. We are devastated
:02:03. > :02:07.but at the same time, that was a performance we want to be
:02:07. > :02:10.remembered for, that we want to deliver again and again. We
:02:11. > :02:16.desperately want that semi-final back and we will not let go of.
:02:16. > :02:19.That is the goal. How tough was it, that defeat against the
:02:19. > :02:27.Netherlands? Mentally and physically, that must have been
:02:27. > :02:35.pretty exhausting? Yes. Somehow a 9-2 defeat is easier to take than a
:02:35. > :02:39.2-1. A lot of people will have to take a good, hard look at

:33:36. > :33:44.of the modern Pentathlon is underway. They have to run three
:33:45. > :33:54.kilometres and stop to shoot at three targets. Svoboda is the
:33:55. > :34:00.
:34:00. > :34:05.leader. Can the Brits improve on went in second place in this event,
:34:05. > :34:10.Cao Zhongrong. Closely followed by a Svoboda of the Czech Republic.
:34:10. > :34:15.All staggered by the times they have combined and the points they
:34:15. > :34:19.have committed in the previous four parts of the modern Pentathlon. We
:34:19. > :34:24.started with the fencing, then the swimming, then came the riding and
:34:24. > :34:29.a final two events combined into one. They have had their first
:34:29. > :34:39.shooting targets. Out on the range. Now they run out and we are
:34:39. > :34:40.
:34:40. > :34:48.watching Cao Zhongrong of China This is demanding on the legs of
:34:48. > :34:51.the athletes, who started at about 8:45am this morning. The other
:34:51. > :34:57.athletes come and take their place in the shooting range. You can run
:34:57. > :35:05.as hard as you like but if you cannot get your shots off, you can
:35:05. > :35:10.find your competitors are running past you very quickly indeed.
:35:10. > :35:15.very exciting time in this competition. You can see Cao
:35:15. > :35:18.Zhongrong out attacking the course. He was followed closely by Svoboda.
:35:19. > :35:25.These are the athletes who set off further down the ranks in 26th
:35:25. > :35:33.place. To and you can see they have to shoot five good targets within
:35:33. > :35:41.70 seconds. But the best athletes will be doing that in under 30.
:35:41. > :35:46.Zhongrong, ranked 25 in the world. He is known as Uncle Cao Zhongrong
:35:46. > :35:54.because he is the oldest in the team. These are the final two who
:35:54. > :35:58.will set off. The Korean and the Ukrainian. And that is a good area
:35:58. > :36:03.of shot now of Cao Zhongrong as he makes his way back around the loop
:36:03. > :36:07.and in a moment we will see him entering the arena again, Webb of
:36:07. > :36:14.the show jumping was held a bit earlier on. He will do a little
:36:14. > :36:18.loop of the course. -- where the show jumping was held. This is the
:36:18. > :36:26.Hungarian, wearing the glasses. A very distinctive figure. The
:36:26. > :36:32.Hungarians are very strong for the men in the modern Pentathlon.
:36:32. > :36:38.Adam Marosi is in 4th, I believe, so hopefully we will see them
:36:38. > :36:44.coming into the arena shortly. And now the athlete for the Czech
:36:44. > :36:48.Republic just approaching the arena for the second time. Cao Zhongrong
:36:48. > :36:53.of China making his way around the look at the bottom of the course,
:36:53. > :36:58.and we will watch him as he comes into the shooting range. It used to
:36:58. > :37:02.be air pistols that they used. Now it is laser pistols. Partly a
:37:02. > :37:06.safety issue to allow it to be more accessible to children said parents
:37:06. > :37:13.feel happier about allowing their children to use the Laser pistols
:37:13. > :37:16.to shoot. Three targets now. Svoboda and next to him, so when
:37:17. > :37:25.you have your nearest rival close to you, you can see what they're
:37:25. > :37:30.doing. It puts extra pressure on to you. I think he only missed one of
:37:30. > :37:35.those shots. It and he is leading out of the arena now. So the
:37:35. > :37:40.pressure really on those athletes. Their heart rates will be up, their
:37:40. > :37:50.breathing rates will be up, which makes the shooting all the more
:37:50. > :37:55.
:37:55. > :38:00.difficult. And you can C Kasza on the range starting his shooting now.
:38:00. > :38:05.Now just trying to get his five shots to hit the target. Cao
:38:05. > :38:11.Zhongrong now closely followed by David Svoboda, who had a brilliant
:38:11. > :38:17.fencing session earlier today. And that is Adam Marosi, from Hungary,
:38:17. > :38:23.in the glasses. Svoboda equalling the Olympic record in the fencing
:38:23. > :38:28.earlier on. The two leaders have been swapping places all through
:38:28. > :38:34.the day. You can hear the crowd, as Nick Woodbridge left the range for
:38:34. > :38:40.the second time. These athletes really need to work off the crowd
:38:40. > :38:45.to help them out on the run course. It is a tough course. I don't think
:38:45. > :38:52.we will see any records today. But impressively, Cao Zhongrong still
:38:52. > :38:56.out in the lead. Yes, followed by David Svoboda from the Czech
:38:56. > :39:01.Republic. So if you can keep your shooting consistent and keep your
:39:01. > :39:06.legs moving after the demands of the day, then you have a great
:39:06. > :39:12.chance of winning a gold medal. At the moment, it is between China and
:39:12. > :39:19.the Czech Republic. Yes, it is all about the balance between how hard
:39:19. > :39:29.do you push those first two run it looks to still be able to shoot
:39:29. > :39:35.
:39:35. > :39:40.accurately on the range. Of those Svoboda had an absolute nightmare
:39:40. > :39:50.in his show jumping because they draw the waltzes by not stop you
:39:50. > :39:52.
:39:52. > :39:55.have 20 minutes to warm up. -- they draw lots. They go round the loop
:39:56. > :40:02.in the middle of the show jumping course and they are neck and neck,
:40:02. > :40:10.the two leading athletes here. sea doesn't surprise me at all.
:40:10. > :40:15.Svoboda has a better time than Cao Zhongrong, so I am expecting him to
:40:15. > :40:20.stay out in front. He has come through very strong in this event
:40:20. > :40:27.and I would be looking for him to make-up even more ground on those
:40:27. > :40:36.two who are ahead of him. He is well in touch at the moment. It
:40:36. > :40:42.depends now on what happens in this third shooting phase. David Svoboda
:40:42. > :40:52.of the Czech Republic... 27 years old. He now comes his heart rate. A
:40:52. > :40:56.
:40:56. > :40:59.left-handed shooting. - Makeen now a wears his heart rate. -- key
:40:59. > :41:03.quietens his heart rate. The Chinese is off again and he will
:41:03. > :41:11.have another chance on this final loop of the course to extend his
:41:11. > :41:16.lead. But there goes David Svoboda after him. And we see the two
:41:16. > :41:22.Russians. Aleksander Lesun, one of them. And the double Olympic
:41:22. > :41:28.champion looking to add a third Olympic title to his collection.
:41:28. > :41:33.And further down the field Robert Kasza down on the course. Hotly
:41:33. > :41:37.pursued by David Svoboda of the Czech Republic. He needs to hold it
:41:37. > :41:41.together on the shooting. Cao Zhongrong is shooting exceptionally
:41:41. > :41:49.well and I think that is what is letting some of the other athletes
:41:49. > :41:53.down. Can he hold on to this? He is back out on the course now. I think
:41:53. > :41:56.we are concentrating for the medal placings on the athletes you are
:41:56. > :42:04.seeing on the cross-country course at the moment. Cao Zhongrong of
:42:04. > :42:10.China followed by a Svoboda of the Czech Republic. This is a strict
:42:10. > :42:15.race to the finish. They have completed their shooting. And, Cao
:42:15. > :42:20.Zhongrong, the 30-year-old from China. And Svoboda just overtaking
:42:20. > :42:27.on the hill. He is definitely the stronger runner. It could be that
:42:27. > :42:32.towards the end of the competition, we will be able to see some of the
:42:32. > :42:36.fast athletes still coming through further down. But Svoboda now
:42:36. > :42:40.looking good. He is looking very strong. I don't think Cao Zhongrong
:42:40. > :42:45.will stand a chance of coming back to him. I think Svoboda may have
:42:45. > :42:54.done enough now to hold off any of the swifter runners who could be
:42:54. > :43:01.coming up from behind. David Svoboda out in front for the Czech
:43:01. > :43:09.Republic. He is a military officer. He says the javelin thrower is one
:43:09. > :43:14.of his all-time heroes. The way he is going now, he is on the way to
:43:14. > :43:20.becoming the Olympic champion here in London. I don't think Cao
:43:20. > :43:26.Zhongrong will catch him. We are watching the leader. David Svoboda.
:43:26. > :43:31.Adam Marosi also starting to make up some time. And I think he is
:43:31. > :43:37.still in third place there. We are waiting to see as he comes into the
:43:37. > :43:43.arena here... David Svoboda just catching up some of the slower
:43:43. > :43:49.runners there, a but it is him. And he has got time to wave to the
:43:49. > :43:53.crowd. He strolls towards the finish line and he is the Olympic
:43:53. > :43:59.champion four years on from his Beijing disappointment. He waves to
:43:59. > :44:06.the crowd. Jon takes the silver medal and he has had an amazing day.
:44:06. > :44:11.The 30-year-old. And here comes Adam Marosi, the Hungarian, just
:44:11. > :44:18.coming into the final straight. And he is such a great character. He
:44:18. > :44:24.has a tattoo on his leg of Adam Young from AC/DC. He had a terrible
:44:24. > :44:34.car accident, sorry, riding accident, which meant he was out of
:44:34. > :44:36.
:44:36. > :44:45.the sport for two years. And crossing the line now... Aleksander
:44:45. > :44:53.Lesun from Russia, and then you can just see the Latvian as well. And
:44:53. > :44:58.here comes Nick Woodbridge, who has also run well through the field.
:44:58. > :45:03.But it has been quite a day. David Svoboda now. The applause of the
:45:03. > :45:09.crowd. And the other runners just making their way across the finish
:45:09. > :45:14.line. Collapsing in the sand. Hard to run in the sand as well. Such a
:45:14. > :45:19.demanding competition, this. And Svoboda is congratulated by Thomas
:45:19. > :45:25.Daniel of Austria. And a silver medal for Cao Zhongrong of China.
:45:25. > :45:35.And Adam Marosi of Hungary, loving his moment in the spotlight here in
:45:35. > :45:38.
:45:38. > :45:48.You have seen in the Olympic champion. -- you have seen the new
:45:48. > :45:48.
:45:48. > :45:52.Olympic champion. Congratulations Tremendous scenes, and after the
:45:52. > :45:57.disappointment of Beijing, he takes the gold medal. Great scenes in
:45:57. > :46:02.Greenwich Park. We now move to the stadium, to see this man, Mo Farah.
:46:02. > :46:06.He tries to do an historic double. He won the 10,000 metres and now he
