:00:30. > :00:35.Hello and welcome back to the Olympic park on the second day of

:00:35. > :00:44.the Olympic Games. And there is a pretty lively storm just passing

:00:44. > :00:50.over the Olympic Park. It has been bucketing with rain. It did hold up

:00:50. > :00:55.events temporarily at the dressage. Williams Fox-Pitt will therefore

:00:55. > :01:01.probably be delayed by a few moments. And it will also make life

:01:01. > :01:06.tricky for the women in the road race. 87 miles of road racing today.

:01:06. > :01:15.And it was also to keep yesterday for the man. Fabien Cancellara of

:01:15. > :01:20.Switzerland, you may remember this rather nasty crash on dry roads. An

:01:21. > :01:26.X-Ray revealed no broken bones so that is good news for him. But he

:01:26. > :01:31.has just sent a message asking spectators to take a couple of

:01:31. > :01:38.steps back because they reset their lives yesterday. He clearly felt

:01:38. > :01:43.the spectators were too close for comfort. Interesting comments. No

:01:43. > :01:50.such were the problems this morning at the ExCel Arena of where the

:01:50. > :01:56.judo was taking place. And we focus on Sophie cox from Rochdale. She

:01:56. > :02:04.competed for Great Britain in Athens and then went off to

:02:04. > :02:11.Thailand. But this is when she was just a kid. She was the first woman,

:02:11. > :02:18.or girl, to play at Wembley in the rugby league. Extraordinary

:02:18. > :02:21.pictures. And she has now found a career in judo. She went to

:02:22. > :02:29.Thailand to teach English for a couple of years and their

:02:29. > :02:35.rediscovered her love of the sport. She had it all to do today in her

:02:35. > :02:38.category. She had a tough draw against the Beijing silver

:02:38. > :02:45.medallist from North Korea. Let us medallist from North Korea. Let us

:02:45. > :02:51.see how she got on. Not many expected to seek Sophie

:02:51. > :02:55.back competing in the Olympics. She quit not long after the Athens

:02:55. > :03:01.Games just a little bit disillusioned with the sport. But

:03:01. > :03:06.she has come back to give judo another go. From Rochdale in

:03:06. > :03:16.Lancashire. She spent four years teaching English in Thailand.

:03:16. > :03:20.

:03:20. > :03:30.amazing, the comeback she has made. She has got great work ethic. Any

:03:30. > :03:34.

:03:34. > :03:38.attacks that she makes must be fully committed.

:03:38. > :03:46.Well you might have expected the gods of the draw to be a little

:03:46. > :03:50.kinder to her. But this is the Beijing and silver medallist. If

:03:50. > :04:00.you're going to make a comeback at the Olympic Games, Harbour Road

:04:00. > :04:26.

:04:26. > :04:31.beating the silver medallist from Following up with a leg grab.

:04:31. > :04:35.returned to the sport two years ago. She said she put herself through

:04:35. > :04:45.the pain and sacrifice again for this moment, to be an Olympian

:04:45. > :04:58.

:04:58. > :05:05.again. Nice strong attack. She has been performing well in the last

:05:05. > :05:10.couple of years. She got bronze in Amsterdam. And in the test event

:05:10. > :05:18.here in December. That will have given her confidence as well. She

:05:18. > :05:28.also has two O European silver medals.

:05:28. > :05:38.

:05:38. > :05:48.She is good on the pressure and has come out firing on all cylinders.

:05:48. > :06:13.

:06:13. > :06:23.Trying to wrap up. This women's class, the event that Sharon

:06:23. > :06:26.

:06:26. > :06:30.McRandal won her Olympic bronze in in Barcelona.

:06:30. > :06:40.Britain has not won an Olympic medal of any description since

:06:40. > :06:43.

:06:43. > :06:50.Sydney. The North Korean goes into the lead.

:06:50. > :07:00.Sophie just London slightly on her side. -- landing.

:07:00. > :07:10.There are three levels of scoring. It is the lowest level that has

:07:10. > :07:17.

:07:17. > :07:26.gone against Sophie, but she is behind.

:07:26. > :07:36.A minute and a half is a long time in judo. Sophie needs to go forward

:07:36. > :07:36.

:07:36. > :08:32.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 56 seconds

:08:32. > :08:42.in the hope of swinging her opponent over. Time is not Sophie's

:08:42. > :08:43.

:08:43. > :08:53.friend at the moment. She has to come forward. She has to do

:08:53. > :09:18.

:09:19. > :09:28.something now. We need something to happen. She has won medals since

:09:29. > :09:30.

:09:30. > :09:37.returning to judo but her return to an Olympics is not going to yield

:09:37. > :09:42.any medals. That was a shame for Sophie. It was just one grip that

:09:42. > :09:51.her opponent managed to get over her. Apart from that it was a very

:09:51. > :09:56.even match. I hope she feels that the comeback was still worthwhile.

:09:56. > :10:00.She has been bad for a couple of years. And she did earn her place

:10:00. > :10:06.back on the British Olympic team. But there is bound to be

:10:06. > :10:12.disappointment right now. She has been beaten by the silver medallist

:10:12. > :10:15.from Beijing. But she knows how close she came and also knows that

:10:15. > :10:20.that is that for perhaps another that is that for perhaps another

:10:20. > :10:26.four years. So-so the is empty handed but a

:10:26. > :10:32.good effort in that fight against for North Korean opponent. Colin

:10:32. > :10:37.Oakes has beaten and the Australian opponent meanwhile and find some

:10:37. > :10:40.self with the chance of getting into the quarter finals. If he

:10:40. > :10:48.manages to beat his Mongolian manages to beat his Mongolian

:10:48. > :10:55.opponent. Second assignment of the day for

:10:55. > :11:00.Colin Coates of Britain. He beat the Australian in his first match

:11:00. > :11:09.and if he can win this he will beat in the quarter-finals. He will not

:11:09. > :11:15.lack support but he will need it against the Mongolian.

:11:16. > :11:24.As well as having 10 letters in his name, the Mongolian also has a

:11:24. > :11:30.bronze medal from Athens. He is a former world champion and a top

:11:30. > :11:35.competitor. But if Colin Coates can do this he will be into the

:11:35. > :11:42.quarter-finals and it will just be about the biggest win of his judo

:11:42. > :11:52.career. It is going to have to be a

:11:52. > :11:52.

:11:52. > :12:59.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 56 seconds

:12:59. > :13:07.looking to get the shoulder. and will be on the edge of her seat.

:13:07. > :13:17.And just listen to the support he is getting.

:13:17. > :13:19.

:13:19. > :13:29.Both fighters completely outside the area.

:13:29. > :13:36.

:13:36. > :13:46.The fight is paused. At the moment both fighters are fighting for the

:13:46. > :14:12.

:14:12. > :14:22.Mongolian's feet are searching for any weakness. The group is changing,

:14:22. > :14:25.

:14:25. > :14:35.the feet are changing. -- the grip. Colin needs to watch

:14:35. > :14:38.

:14:38. > :14:44.that one. The Mongolian has a tattoo of the scorpion on his foot.

:14:44. > :14:54.That is appropriate, if you do not want to get caught by a scorpion.

:14:54. > :15:00.

:15:00. > :15:10.minutes of normal time. Colin is trying to keep distance between

:15:10. > :15:12.

:15:12. > :15:17.them. It is important that Colin also gets his attacks in. The first

:15:17. > :15:24.warning for Colin Oates for not attacking enough. He has got to

:15:24. > :15:34.step up the pace now. He does not want to get a second warning. That

:15:34. > :15:36.

:15:36. > :15:46.would give the Mongolian one of the lowest scores. In the eyes of the

:15:46. > :15:54.referee he was not working hard enough or being offensive enough.

:15:54. > :16:04.The Mongolian went very defensive. The winner of this one will be in

:16:04. > :16:34.

:16:34. > :16:39.the quarter-finals. We are 90 get his attacks in first. Since

:16:39. > :16:46.Sydney's success has been so far and few between in judo. Is it to

:16:46. > :16:52.come here? Into the final 60 seconds. A lot of those inside the

:16:52. > :17:00.Excel are hoping so. Colin needs to get another attack in. Can he take

:17:00. > :17:06.him on the ground? The Mongolian was pulling backwards.

:17:06. > :17:10.Mongolians have come to the forefront of judo in recent times.

:17:10. > :17:20.The London gold that they are using for the medals is mined from

:17:20. > :17:43.

:17:43. > :17:50.Mongolia. Colin is hoping to take the Mongolian over the top. What

:17:50. > :17:58.has it got? He has got the score. Seconds are ticking away. That is

:17:58. > :18:03.just about the biggest moment in British judo for over a decade!

:18:03. > :18:09.Colin Oates is into the quarter final. He has beaten the bronze

:18:09. > :18:15.medallist in Athens, a former world champion. Britain's Judah has got

:18:15. > :18:25.something to shout about at last. He did that at the right time. What

:18:25. > :18:26.

:18:26. > :18:30.a brilliant fight. -- British judo. I did not think you would get

:18:30. > :18:40.excited watching British judo players like that. What a moment

:18:40. > :18:50.that was. I am sure that doors are already open in the little village

:18:50. > :18:50.

:18:50. > :18:57.pub. They will now be doing brisk business. There lad, Northop's

:18:57. > :19:07.finest, Colin Oates, it is striding towards an Olympic quarter-finals.

:19:07. > :19:09.

:19:09. > :19:13.Look at their reaction. He manages to take him back. It was in the

:19:13. > :19:23.last two seconds of the contest. He seized his opportunity and he takes

:19:23. > :19:23.

:19:23. > :19:28.We will be back to see that quarter-final bury shortly because

:19:28. > :19:35.we are heading straight away to Greenwich Park. It looked majestic

:19:35. > :19:45.as a backdrop for a venue and it is the three-day eventing. The first

:19:45. > :19:53.

:19:53. > :20:00.In dress size riders and horses perform a pre-set routine of exact

:20:00. > :20:04.movements or figures within an enclosed at 60m by 20-metre arena.

:20:04. > :20:10.All competitors perform the same routine in front of a panel of

:20:10. > :20:14.judges. It is designed to show the call for operation between the

:20:14. > :20:20.horse and the rider. Popular figures include the Serpentine,

:20:20. > :20:29.consisting of loops. Half-past where the horse travels diagonally

:20:29. > :20:34.across the arena. In flying changes the horse changes its lead for it.

:20:34. > :20:38.Cross country is a test of stamina, bravery and endurance. The course

:20:39. > :20:45.is approximately six kilometres in length and contains 28 at 30

:20:45. > :20:53.obstacles. Falls are incurred four refusals, run outs and exceeding

:20:53. > :20:59.the time allowed. If the rider or horse falls, they are eliminated.

:20:59. > :21:08.The final part tests skill, accuracy and agility. It is

:21:08. > :21:18.contested over two rounds. Penalties will also be incurred if

:21:18. > :21:29.

:21:29. > :21:38.the competitors exceed the time because it is really raining and

:21:38. > :21:48.his looks as if it is going to stay that way for this Test. So often

:21:48. > :21:54.

:21:54. > :22:03.horses can react to the rain. Let's hope that Miners Frolic does not. 7,

:22:03. > :22:07.9, 6. I am not sure if one judge was looking out of the box. The 9th

:22:07. > :22:14.is the centre charge and they are the ones who can see the straight

:22:14. > :22:19.the best. We are just hearing there is talk if there was a lot of heavy

:22:19. > :22:26.rain the competition might be suspended. That would be very

:22:26. > :22:33.unfair with what is going on at the moment. At the moment he is coping

:22:33. > :22:42.with the weather and so is Kristina Cook. Just lost a fraction of a bit

:22:42. > :22:48.of rhythm. The judges' box is falling apart. Never mind their

:22:49. > :22:55.box! She is having to fix her hat, she is getting the worst of the

:22:55. > :23:00.conditions. Let's hope the judges are feeling a little bit lenient

:23:00. > :23:06.considering the conditions. Having said that, they do not really need

:23:06. > :23:15.to be. Miners Frolic is looking pretty special at the moment. This

:23:15. > :23:20.is very pleasant. I am now soaked through. So am I, top to bottom.

:23:20. > :23:29.Too much information. I am sure it Teena is even more weight than we

:23:29. > :23:39.are. -- I am sure Christina is even more weight than we are. This is

:23:39. > :23:39.

:23:39. > :24:22.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 56 seconds

:24:22. > :24:28.complaining. I should be used to weather. Nice position for that

:24:28. > :24:34.canter half past, very good, I like that a lot. Straight on the centre

:24:34. > :24:40.line. She is not letting these weather conditions get to her. The

:24:40. > :24:46.Olympics do not happen too often in one's lifetime. You put up with a

:24:46. > :24:52.bit of rain and get on with it. mum was one of our top

:24:52. > :24:58.international show jumpers. And of course her father was one of the

:24:58. > :25:07.National Hunt trainers. He would be very proud of his daughter looking

:25:07. > :25:13.down on this. Another good change and very straight. She is up to 70%.

:25:13. > :25:22.So she should be. I would give her 90% for riding in this weather.

:25:22. > :25:26.quite agree. Good boy. Let's not go over the top yet. This is one of

:25:27. > :25:32.the outstanding performances, not just because of the rain, but

:25:32. > :25:42.technically because she is doing it in the rain. She has not done

:25:42. > :25:59.

:25:59. > :26:03.anything wrong. Well done. That is fantastic! It is looking like 71%.

:26:03. > :26:13.Everyone is wet through, but absolutely delighted to be watching

:26:13. > :26:14.

:26:14. > :26:24.the scoreboard. And the crowd had stayed with this despite the very

:26:24. > :26:29.

:26:29. > :26:35.heavy storm. That is where surely the judges have got to be generous.

:26:35. > :26:45.Just look at these pictures. Look at that and that shows just how

:26:45. > :26:48.

:26:48. > :26:58.hard it is. That shows her brilliant ride. 42, we are in

:26:58. > :27:03.Let's talk about how difficult it was in the weather. It was more

:27:03. > :27:10.than noise going on around the arena. I have ridden on rainy days

:27:10. > :27:16.in the South Downs. I am used to it. I felt like the wind was coming up

:27:16. > :27:21.like that and I thought, stay focused. It was not perfect. We

:27:21. > :27:27.would have loved to have had the San, British weather for you.

:27:27. > :27:34.two marks what you achieved in Hong Kong. Obviously I would have loved

:27:34. > :27:40.to be on a 48. I'm not grumbling with 42. The weather has Thurne

:27:40. > :27:50.that at us. The horse kept his brain and focus really well. We had

:27:50. > :27:51.

:27:51. > :27:59.some thunder and it came down heavily. Did the reins get slippy?

:27:59. > :28:04.Yes, I am very wet. You I used to riding in the rain. They are event

:28:04. > :28:09.horses. It is not ideal and of course I would love the sunshine on

:28:09. > :28:14.him. In Hong Kong we had the beautiful light. You just have to

:28:14. > :28:22.deal with it. If you are going around cross country it could get

:28:22. > :28:26.slippery. I was going to ask about that. The British team are very

:28:26. > :28:31.experienced and we have fantastic courses. But this is the Olympics

:28:31. > :28:37.and the Olympics throw up difficult things. It is a difficult course

:28:37. > :28:42.and if it gets wet, it will get slippery. We put stance in the

:28:42. > :28:46.horse's' shoes. You do not want to lose a start because it will get

:28:46. > :28:56.slippery and you will lose time, but it will be very exciting for

:28:56. > :29:03.

:29:03. > :29:07.We will have a better picture once William Fox Pitt appears. We have

:29:07. > :29:17.been following the progress of Cologne Oats after that fantastic

:29:17. > :29:20.

:29:21. > :29:30.performance. --Colin Oates. He is up against a pretty handy Georgian

:29:31. > :29:41.

:29:41. > :29:51.up against a pretty handy Georgian against the Georgian. A shake of

:29:51. > :29:52.

:29:52. > :30:02.the hands from both of them. Colin has to make sure he is very fast

:30:02. > :30:03.

:30:03. > :30:13.ride from the start of this contest. The Georgian it is very strong with

:30:13. > :30:15.

:30:15. > :30:25.his hand and leg at the same time. Colin throwing himself onto his own

:30:25. > :30:32.

:30:33. > :30:42.back. Looking to turn the Georgian onto his back.

:30:43. > :30:45.

:30:45. > :30:55.He certainly came here with high hopes. He narrowly missed out on a

:30:55. > :31:27.

:31:27. > :31:33.bronze medal. He is the European beating his Mongolian opponent.

:31:33. > :31:43.Colin does not want to get dominated like this. Oates is good

:31:43. > :31:48.

:31:48. > :31:58.on the ground. He wants to take control of the upper body, needs to

:31:58. > :32:06.

:32:06. > :32:16.get his leg through to count. Georgia is a good Judo nation. He

:32:16. > :32:16.

:32:16. > :32:58.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 56 seconds

:32:58. > :33:08.has got to watch his arm here. The Georgian looking for the arm lock.

:33:08. > :33:16.

:33:16. > :33:26.Well done. Nice defence there from Colin Oates.

:33:26. > :33:53.

:33:53. > :34:03.Two minutes to go. Colin a left- Turning it now into an attack.

:34:03. > :34:06.

:34:06. > :34:16.Working to roll the Georgian. Plenty of hard work on the floor,

:34:16. > :34:47.

:34:47. > :34:57.leads to nothing again. Going for the strangle. Looking to

:34:57. > :35:13.

:35:13. > :35:18.apply pressure. Not quite. He did not take part in the opening

:35:18. > :35:28.ceremony, deciding instead to focus on what he is here for. There is no

:35:28. > :35:32.

:35:32. > :35:42.overwhelming favourite. Any mistake now, any positive score, might be

:35:42. > :35:58.

:35:58. > :36:08.decisive. Colin trying to get his leg in front. Again looking again

:36:08. > :36:43.

:36:43. > :36:53.Next score wins it. Oates did well. Looking for the

:36:53. > :37:13.

:37:13. > :37:23.ground work again. So close. Family all here to watch, down from

:37:23. > :37:31.

:37:31. > :37:41.Norfolk. His coach introduced him to the sport when he was 12. Has he

:37:41. > :37:49.

:37:49. > :37:56.been caught on the ground? Georgian has the grip. He has to

:37:56. > :38:05.get out before 15 seconds. It is not going to happen. He has been

:38:05. > :38:13.counted out and the golden score goals against the Britain. Such a

:38:13. > :38:23.disappointment. Allowed the Georgian to come over into the hold

:38:23. > :38:30.

:38:30. > :38:37.down. Kate Howey has her head in her hands. She got the medal in

:38:37. > :38:43.Sydney. It is the Georgian who makes his way into the quarter

:38:43. > :38:50.makes his way into the quarter finals. That was so difficult to

:38:50. > :38:56.watch! But it has not finished. Colin will now fight in the

:38:56. > :39:05.repechage. And if he were to win that he would go into a bronze

:39:05. > :39:14.medal fight. So fingers crossed. So nearly tried to deliver the

:39:14. > :39:18.first of the medals! I am confident this afternoon. Four years ago for

:39:19. > :39:24.the women's road race it was raining and four years ago Nicole

:39:24. > :39:29.Cooke delivered the first medal for Britain and also that gold medal.

:39:29. > :39:35.She came out of that terrible Chinese storm and emerged by the

:39:35. > :39:43.Great Wall of China to get that medal.

:39:43. > :39:47.Colin is still in it. After the disappointment of yesterday

:39:47. > :39:51.afternoon, to date we have high hopes for the women and the next

:39:51. > :40:01.couple of hours could deliver the first medal of these games for

:40:01. > :40:02.

:40:02. > :40:08.Out on the road we have a to Spear attack on a medal places. Nicole

:40:08. > :40:13.Cooke, Beijing's golden girl may launch a breakaway from the group.

:40:13. > :40:20.And if it comes to a close finish all eyes will be on Lizzie

:40:20. > :40:27.Armitstead. And on the water we have David France looking for a

:40:27. > :40:33.semi-final place. It also this afternoon Andy Murray will be keen

:40:33. > :40:39.to lay to rest the ghost of this year's Wimbledon final on centre

:40:39. > :40:43.court a little later on. And if we will join the cycling in around 30

:40:43. > :40:50.minutes' time. But if you would like to watch it right now just

:40:50. > :40:58.turn over to BBC Three. But here we head to the brand new Lee Valley

:40:58. > :41:02.white water centre. Here is what we can expect from seeing men and

:41:02. > :41:09.women negotiate up to 25 gates in women negotiate up to 25 gates in

:41:09. > :41:16.raging water. The canoe slalom. Three classes of

:41:16. > :41:21.boat are used. The single kayak, the single canoe, and the two-man

:41:21. > :41:25.canoe. In the kayak the athletes are seated and used double-headed

:41:25. > :41:31.paddles. In the canoed they kneel on both knees and use a single

:41:31. > :41:37.blade paddle. The aim is to negotiate a course marked by slalom

:41:37. > :41:42.gates as cleanly and quickly as possible without touching the polls.

:41:42. > :41:47.Part of the boat must be inside the polls. If anything touches one or

:41:47. > :41:52.both of the polls, and to a second penalty is incurred. Capsizing is

:41:52. > :41:57.not penalised but if you missed a gate or pass through incorrectly

:41:57. > :42:04.than 50 seconds is added to the total time. 82 athletes compete for

:42:04. > :42:09.four gold medals. With the numbers reduced through the heats. Also the

:42:09. > :42:13.semi-finals and ultimately the finals. The best of the two runs of

:42:13. > :42:16.the Heath decides whether they progress or or or eliminated. The

:42:16. > :42:21.semi-finalists start with a clean slate and are judged on a single

:42:21. > :42:24.run. The final 10 competitors are ranked on another single run to

:42:24. > :42:29.determine who takes home the gold medal.

:42:29. > :42:36.If you would like to get involved in Olympic sports, go to the

:42:36. > :42:40.website for more information. So we're expecting up to 60,000

:42:40. > :42:46.people to witness the Olympic slalom canoe events during the

:42:46. > :42:54.Games. And this is where they will do it. The 300 metre course is the

:42:54. > :43:02.ultimate test for the best in the world. David Florence is to go last

:43:02. > :43:12.of all. Jonathan Edwards is there for us. What is the secret here,

:43:12. > :43:14.

:43:14. > :43:17.have you developed a love of Klimt -- of canoe slalom?

:43:17. > :43:27.You spoke about it in your introduction, it is a very tough

:43:27. > :43:29.

:43:29. > :43:32.course. It has caused a few problems with the early competitors.

:43:33. > :43:42.But there is huge expectation, David Florence was silver medallist

:43:43. > :43:49.

:43:49. > :43:56.in Beijing. But going before him RB former at the Olympic champions.

:43:56. > :44:03.Well it is equally wet here on the Olympic Park! In some ways you

:44:03. > :44:12.sport was quite similar. David Florence has spoken and said it is

:44:12. > :44:17.all about your form on the day, similar to the triple jump. It just

:44:17. > :44:27.goes to show that it can be all or nothing in this event. That is

:44:27. > :44:28.

:44:28. > :44:33.absolutely correct. It is very much on the day. One thing that makes it

:44:33. > :44:42.tricky is that the wind is blowing around quite a lot and those gates

:44:42. > :44:45.DoH mould. -- do move. So you're slightly in the lap of the guards.

:44:46. > :44:51.But David Florence has had a consistent season so far. Give us

:44:52. > :44:57.some idea of the atmosphere because the clinic -- the canoe slalom is

:44:57. > :45:04.an Nish sport in many ways. It was usually popular in Beijing.

:45:04. > :45:10.Absolutely. And it is a massive opportunity for the canoeists. This

:45:10. > :45:17.is a specially built stadium. And as you can see over my shoulder, it

:45:17. > :45:21.is a wonderful Abbey Theatre. The athletes will be aware of the

:45:21. > :45:28.crowds around them almost like a stadium. I think they will respond

:45:28. > :45:38.to that. And the GB canoeists have been training here since 2010. So

:45:38. > :45:42.

:45:42. > :45:46.How do you think David will cope in the next few days? I think he will

:45:46. > :45:50.cope well and I think the whole British team have prepared very

:45:50. > :45:56.well indeed. Their results leading up to this competition have been

:45:56. > :46:03.outstanding. What they have is that home advantage. They will feel that

:46:03. > :46:07.gives them the edge. We are now live with the competitors. The

:46:07. > :46:11.British team have been training with microchips in their canoe so

:46:11. > :46:21.they can work out exactly how much effort there canoeists are putting

:46:21. > :46:42.

:46:42. > :46:48.lead. It was worth no time penalties at all. It has set a

:46:48. > :46:58.marker for the other athletes to beat. But this looks like a good

:46:58. > :46:59.

:46:59. > :47:06.run and it is nice and smooth so far. He has to turn the bow down in

:47:06. > :47:12.gate 10 to get it driving again. will get a split time in a moment.

:47:12. > :47:19.There are four seconds of time penalties. It could be a problem

:47:19. > :47:25.for the Japanese competitor. The gates are in quite straight

:47:25. > :47:35.sequences behind each other. We cannot afford to see too many

:47:35. > :47:49.

:47:49. > :47:59.penalties. 90.83 is the standard. The top 12 will make it through to

:47:59. > :48:02.

:48:02. > :48:08.the semi-finals in two days time. The standard is very high. At the

:48:08. > :48:14.moment he is in 6th place, so not lying too badly. He picked up a

:48:14. > :48:21.penalty early on in gate four. You wonder if that affects the rhythm.

:48:21. > :48:26.Then another one in 85 or six. But the water is big and waves are

:48:26. > :48:36.continuously threatening to pull the boat speed off the bow and stop

:48:36. > :48:48.

:48:48. > :48:54.see smooth, slow running water. But the first big drop is about two

:48:54. > :49:02.metres. You create huge acceleration on these boats. He is

:49:02. > :49:06.just 20 years old. After the last Olympic Games we thought we might

:49:06. > :49:11.have seen some of the Chinese competitors moving towards the top

:49:11. > :49:21.of the world rankings, but that has not happened yet. But give them

:49:21. > :49:28.

:49:28. > :49:32.championships just last season. His record says he's quite useful.

:49:32. > :49:37.got himself off to a good start, being a little bit hit by the

:49:37. > :49:45.stopper between three and four. He gets stuck on the eddy line in gate

:49:45. > :49:50.four. He will look to get the nose of the boat driving back downstream

:49:50. > :49:54.before he comes into gate nine, the second upstream gate on the course,

:49:54. > :49:59.but under the first big drop. Already quite a chunk of time

:49:59. > :50:08.behind Savsek. Slovenia said that staggering time about five minutes

:50:08. > :50:16.ago. He danced his boat through the course. We now see this difficult

:50:16. > :50:26.upstream gate, gate 12, where there's almost an s life -- s like

:50:26. > :50:40.

:50:40. > :50:45.is within touch of the Australian and the Russian. He was smoothly

:50:45. > :50:49.into 18. He now needs to keep the rhythm going, keep the nose driving

:50:49. > :50:59.downstream as much as you possibly can. He drives into the back of

:50:59. > :51:05.

:51:05. > :51:09.you've got a paddle like crazy. Four seconds down on Savsek, but in

:51:09. > :51:14.with a good chance of progressing through to the semi-finals. He is

:51:14. > :51:17.in second place at the moment. That was a fine performance by the

:51:17. > :51:21.Chinese number one. After a couple of early mistakes where he found

:51:21. > :51:31.himself getting caught up on some Eddie lines, he really found his

:51:31. > :51:32.

:51:32. > :51:38.rhythm and got the boat smoothly the remaining travellers, there are

:51:38. > :51:44.five of them, will be ranked inside the world's top 10. This is really

:51:44. > :51:48.getting towards the sharp end of this competition. It includes David

:51:48. > :51:58.Florence and two men who between them have won the last four Olympic

:51:58. > :52:11.

:52:11. > :52:18.was just outside of the metals in Beijing. That was his first Olympic

:52:19. > :52:22.experience. This is his second Olympic competition. He will want

:52:22. > :52:27.to get in amongst the metals. They are a couple of days away, but

:52:27. > :52:37.safely through to the semi-finals would be spot on for the Spaniard.

:52:37. > :52:37.

:52:37. > :52:47.A great start, making it looks move. -- look smoke. We want to see the

:52:47. > :53:02.

:53:02. > :53:06.Baller of the boat almost gliding of difficulty there, but tried to

:53:06. > :53:11.spin away and reposition himself. That is a particularly tricky gate.

:53:11. > :53:15.He is, there's a big stopper in between the top pole and bottom

:53:15. > :53:19.pole of Gate 12. They have to decide what will be the best way to

:53:19. > :53:26.get their nose through the gate, and then set it up for the next

:53:26. > :53:29.gate. Look at that split, he is still ahead of Savsek. He's had a

:53:29. > :53:32.rich vein of form this season. Finished fourth in the European

:53:32. > :53:37.Championships. He's not one of these guys who's going to go

:53:37. > :53:41.through his career always finishing fourth. But losing time between

:53:41. > :53:50.gate 20 and 21, found himself horizontal on the course, losing

:53:50. > :53:57.the precious time in the stopper, which could be crucial to him.

:53:57. > :54:07.Elosegi has lost time. He replaces Teng, the Chinese athlete, by

:54:07. > :54:15.

:54:15. > :54:18.upstream gate. Tight around as we see him lean off the polls. The

:54:18. > :54:26.athletes put their blade into the water and then open up their elbows

:54:26. > :54:30.to get the power on. The stamps are absolutely packed with spectators.

:54:30. > :54:35.I dare say quite a large chunk of them will never have seen slalom

:54:35. > :54:45.canoeing before. But what they are watching now are the world's best.

:54:45. > :55:00.

:55:00. > :55:10.Actually, some of the best there the world number one, will be

:55:10. > :55:12.

:55:13. > :55:19.coming soon. Tasiadis of Germany. Part of the German team that got a

:55:19. > :55:22.silver medal in the World Championships in 2011. And in the

:55:22. > :55:29.European Championships this year, in axe Burke, one of the most

:55:29. > :55:39.famous courses in Europe. This gentleman was the champion there.

:55:39. > :55:39.

:55:40. > :55:44.Push is nice and tied in to gate through seven and eight as he rolls

:55:44. > :55:52.the boat across the white water using his core strength from his

:55:52. > :55:58.hips all the way up. Already 0.2 up on our current leader. Tasiadis

:55:58. > :56:02.looking very smooth and powerful as well. That is one of the fastest

:56:02. > :56:07.parts of the course, where you come out of an upstream gate and go

:56:07. > :56:12.haring down the course proof-read downstream gates. I thought he'd

:56:12. > :56:22.touched one of those polls. Two second of time penalties. That may

:56:22. > :56:31.

:56:31. > :56:41.here. It looks as though he would almost flip over. He really needs

:56:41. > :56:49.

:56:49. > :56:55.to make sure he can get this couple of digs into the water to

:56:55. > :57:00.bring himself through that last gate, number 22. Down in fifth

:57:00. > :57:08.place. After a very promising start, the German lost quite a lot of time

:57:08. > :57:18.in the last four or five gates. caught the bottom pole of the Gate

:57:18. > :57:30.

:57:30. > :57:40.12, the first of his two second run later on this afternoon. We

:57:40. > :57:44.

:57:44. > :57:47.highly ranked in the world this year. As importantly for British

:57:47. > :57:52.supporters is the fact that David Florence, silver-medallist from

:57:52. > :58:02.four years ago, he goes last, he will know exactly what he has to do

:58:02. > :58:06.

:58:06. > :58:13.by then. He is ranked number one in Olympic competition, finished fifth

:58:13. > :58:16.in Beijing. Whereas all of these guys are very competitive, by

:58:16. > :58:26.definition they all know each other extremely well and train together

:58:26. > :58:32.

:58:32. > :58:36.in the past as far as the Czech Republic's team is concerned. Very

:58:36. > :58:40.strong, especially in the upper body, but he will have tremendous

:58:40. > :58:44.leg and core strength as well. looked a bit twitchy on the first

:58:44. > :58:48.few gates but he seems to have got himself into a good rhythm. Trying

:58:48. > :58:54.to keep the boat dry as he enters the first Big drop on the course

:58:54. > :59:04.and into the second upstream gate. He pushes out on to the wave and

:59:04. > :59:11.

:59:11. > :59:15.This is a flyer, he looks like he's on a good run. If somebody cracks

:59:15. > :59:23.the code in terms of the difficulty of gate 13, they really will have

:59:23. > :59:30.done themselves a lot of favours in terms of time. That is a good lead.

:59:30. > :59:35.Savsek demoted for the time being down the table. He's keeping the

:59:35. > :59:40.run on the boat here really well. He keeps himself inside, but he's

:59:40. > :59:45.picked up a two second penalty. He's going to have to push harder

:59:45. > :59:50.on this last gate. He gets another stroke out, as he's now got to push

:59:50. > :59:58.all the way to the finish line. has lost a bit of time. Two seconds

:59:58. > :00:02.of penalties. He has been relegated down into third place. Elosegi of

:00:02. > :00:12.Spain is still ahead of him. Savsek breathing a sigh of relief,

:00:12. > :00:22.

:00:22. > :00:27.although there is still one run to occasions where the top part of the

:00:27. > :00:33.course has been executed very, very quickly. Guys are having difficulty

:00:33. > :00:37.with the bottom half. It is all about getting each of those 22

:00:37. > :00:42.gates on that course executed as well as they can. Sometimes they

:00:42. > :00:44.get the top part well and sometimes they get the bottom part well, but

:00:44. > :00:54.it is stringing it all together to make sure it's consistent

:00:54. > :01:05.

:01:05. > :01:15.somebody as a legend in the sport, you have to have real justification,

:01:15. > :01:22.but martyr can is certainly that man. -- Martikan. He became Olympic

:01:22. > :01:32.champion back in 1996. He missed out in 20021004, but then came back

:01:32. > :01:35.with a real bang in Beijing, where he won. Now 33 years old. His arch

:01:35. > :01:43.rival, and one of the supposed rivals for the title of one of the

:01:43. > :01:47.greatest of all time, Estanguet, he is the next competitor. But all

:01:47. > :01:52.eyes on Martikan. So far, he's making it look incredibly easy. He

:01:52. > :01:56.is gliding around, but he is down on the split, just over half a

:01:56. > :01:59.second down. Martikan is a man of experience. He knows what he needs

:02:00. > :02:04.to do and sometimes he will just play with it, keep the control on

:02:04. > :02:08.the top and then really let it rip on the bottom. He caught the bottom

:02:08. > :02:18.pole there on gate 12. He tries to keep it as straight as possible.

:02:18. > :02:35.

:02:35. > :02:41.has been put down there as a 52nd 20. Into that big stopper. He lost

:02:41. > :02:45.a bit of time there as well. Yes, he's now got to push into gate 22.

:02:45. > :02:55.See how quickly he got himself back out. He really has got extreme

:02:55. > :02:57.

:02:57. > :03:01.amounts of skill. With a 52nd with a 50, second penalty, it leaves him

:03:01. > :03:05.a lot to do. The Slovakian officials and coaches and the rest

:03:05. > :03:10.of the team will be taking a very close look at that bit of film

:03:10. > :03:19.there. That could be an historic decision because Martikan has been

:03:19. > :03:26.going very well. He is ranked fourth in the world this year. He

:03:26. > :03:31.has got such vast experience. That is a big shot. He splits it across

:03:31. > :03:35.the top of his head here -- there. That is a 50, second penalty. The

:03:35. > :03:40.athletes have to get the whole of their head inside. They can't hit

:03:40. > :03:46.it, it can't go across half their head or even a fraction of it.

:03:46. > :03:50.is a big story, isn't it? certainly is. The Slovaks will have

:03:50. > :03:55.the opportunity to protest that, but we will see what happens. He's

:03:55. > :04:02.always got a second run, he is a man of experience. Four years ago

:04:02. > :04:06.in Beijing, a very similar thing happened to Tony Estanguet -- Tony

:04:06. > :04:12.Estanguet, of France. He missed out on a chance to win three gold

:04:12. > :04:22.medals in a row. He was the champion in Athens. I am sure this

:04:22. > :04:34.

:04:34. > :04:39.Frenchman, and sure he wants to be himself into a nice with them. He

:04:40. > :04:44.has picked up at two second penalty already. He will have to see if he

:04:44. > :04:54.can make that up later in the course. He certainly seems to be

:04:54. > :04:55.

:04:55. > :05:01.flying at the moment. No problems for him. Trying to stay straight as

:05:01. > :05:11.well, and just having a problem. He is being thrown around, and touched

:05:11. > :05:15.

:05:15. > :05:21.the gate again. He caught that pole, giving himself another penalty and

:05:21. > :05:25.has a lot to do in this section of the cause. Tony Estanguet, three

:05:25. > :05:35.times the world champion, a little bit off the pace in terms of his

:05:35. > :05:43.

:05:43. > :05:48.split, but now just two gates to go. You can see the fast water making

:05:48. > :05:52.it particularly hard to drive to the finish. That is not a

:05:52. > :06:02.spectacular performance, but certainly it is a good platform on

:06:02. > :06:04.

:06:04. > :06:13.which to build. He had a good run, negotiating it very well but the

:06:13. > :06:18.penalties were very costly to him. Some of them have picked up

:06:18. > :06:23.penalties here, as we saw Martikan did, and it is difficult to make

:06:23. > :06:33.the decision about what to do. David Florence of Great Britain is

:06:33. > :06:33.

:06:33. > :06:39.the next and final competitor. We are still reeling from the shock

:06:39. > :06:49.missed gate by Michal Martikan. Tony Estanguet, pretty solid in

:06:49. > :06:49.

:06:49. > :06:54.equal second place, and Savsek is still number one. The silver

:06:54. > :06:57.medallist from Beijing, David Florence of Great Britain start his

:06:57. > :07:03.campaign at the Lea Valley Walk to centre next and the crowd can't

:07:03. > :07:09.wait. I spoke to him the other day and he said training had been going

:07:09. > :07:19.well. He has come off the back of a particularly good season, second in

:07:19. > :07:23.

:07:23. > :07:30.the world championships. He's four a bronze medal in those

:07:30. > :07:36.championships in the C1. He will know this cost well - he did quite

:07:36. > :07:43.well in the test event. He has been here for 18 months so he should

:07:43. > :07:53.know it inside out. He looks like he is getting off to a good start,

:07:53. > :07:58.

:07:58. > :08:07.but a little bit caught up between gate seven and gate 8. Two

:08:07. > :08:11.penalties already, he can't afford to make any more mistakes. Just

:08:11. > :08:17.spinning around, and in the middle part of the course finding life a

:08:17. > :08:25.little bit difficult. That upstream gate has made life difficult for a

:08:26. > :08:31.lot of competitors. He now has four penalties, getting caught up in the

:08:32. > :08:37.troublesome water. He is losing precious time. Savsek's leading

:08:37. > :08:45.time is very safe so far. David Florence is nine seconds off the

:08:45. > :08:50.pace and he has just got to concentrate now. Two more to go,

:08:50. > :09:00.and hopefully David Florence will be home with no more penalties.

:09:00. > :09:02.

:09:02. > :09:09.has now got to drive past Paul the way to the finish line. 101.60

:09:09. > :09:14.including the penalties, and that put him down into 13th place. It is

:09:14. > :09:21.only the top 12 that will make it through to the semi-finals.

:09:21. > :09:30.really found himself getting stuck for a start he has found himself a

:09:30. > :09:36.bit wide coming into gate 13, which lost him time. Maybe some nerves in

:09:36. > :09:44.front of the home crowd. We will expect to see a much-improved run

:09:44. > :09:49.later today. Disappointment, not just from the spectators but for

:09:49. > :09:55.the man himself. That was not the start he wanted but you will have

:09:55. > :09:59.another chance later on this afternoon. There is the result of

:10:00. > :10:04.this first heat, the first chance we have really had to have a look

:10:04. > :10:14.at this canoe slalom course at Lea Valley. Savsek, a brilliant

:10:14. > :10:25.

:10:25. > :10:32.That was tough watching that. Not only is David Florence a lovely man,

:10:32. > :10:40.but a great competitor as well. If we are looking for some positives,

:10:40. > :10:45.Martikan, looking for a gold medal, was also in 16th place. Later we

:10:45. > :10:49.can see the second round of heats, the Times will be combined, and

:10:49. > :10:55.then the top 12 will make it through to the semi-finals. After

:10:55. > :11:00.that they only have one run in the semi-finals and the finals.

:11:00. > :11:05.Sticking with the water, we are going to go 144 miles away to

:11:05. > :11:08.Dorset to see what happened this morning because Ben Ainslie was

:11:08. > :11:15.going for yet another Olympic gold medal. Wouldn't it be special if he

:11:15. > :11:19.could pick that up, and you can see the Union flags were flying. He

:11:19. > :11:27.made a promising start a day, finishing second in the first race

:11:27. > :11:35.in the Finn competition behind Christiansen from Denmark. Let's

:11:35. > :11:39.cross to Shirley Robertson. They are on the first leg of the second

:11:39. > :11:43.race, and Ben Ainslie didn't have the best start. He was trapped

:11:43. > :11:52.behind the winner of the first race, but he is in the middle of the pack

:11:52. > :12:02.now moving forward. The man leading this race is Christiansen, who won

:12:02. > :12:08.

:12:08. > :12:15.crawling back into second place. A good result, he will be happy with

:12:15. > :12:19.that. In the past Olympics, he hasn't always started off that well.

:12:19. > :12:23.Give us an idea of the conditions because we have had some pretty bad

:12:23. > :12:31.weather at the Olympic Park, but it looks like lovely blue skies ahead

:12:31. > :12:36.of you. I dressed in my shorts and now I have every layer on. We have

:12:36. > :12:41.had everything - sunshine, and a big rain cloud, but now the breeze

:12:41. > :12:45.at his back and the sun is shining. I think Ben Ainslie will be happy

:12:45. > :12:51.with this. Here's looking for another solid performers today and

:12:51. > :12:58.the medals will not be decided today. There are 10 races, so it is

:12:58. > :13:03.about not making any mistakes, not getting involved in any protests,

:13:03. > :13:08.just getting good results in the top three. We are watching him now

:13:08. > :13:14.out on the water, and we saw a few moments ago people laying back

:13:14. > :13:19.enjoying themselves. I know Ben Ainslie has no idea what the crowd

:13:19. > :13:24.are chanting, but for you as a former competitor how does it feel

:13:25. > :13:29.to see the support he is getting? The hairs were standing up. Every

:13:29. > :13:38.time Ben Ainslie went round the first mark and just beside the

:13:38. > :13:43.crowds, lots of cheering and Union Jacks. We have never had that

:13:43. > :13:48.before. It makes a difference, it is hard to quantify how much but

:13:48. > :13:54.you are certainly trying your best. And some cheering for you as well,

:13:54. > :13:59.I'm sure. You are looking great, even though you had to put on a few

:13:59. > :14:05.extra layers. You can keep on top of everything that is happening

:14:05. > :14:10.across the BBC. You can press the red button right now and see how

:14:10. > :14:20.Ben Ainslie get sawn as he traces his fourth consecutive gold medal.

:14:20. > :14:39.

:14:39. > :14:44.You can see Andy Murray very short As I relax on my sofa, the women's

:14:44. > :14:49.road race is unfolding across sorry. Whilst yesterday the British

:14:49. > :14:53.efforts focused on one rider, Mark Cavendish, today Nicole Cooke and

:14:53. > :15:03.Lizzie Armitstead have their sights set on a royal finish in front of

:15:03. > :15:13.

:15:13. > :15:19.champion! For on paper, Lizzie Armitstead is the sprinter of the

:15:19. > :15:24.team. It will be very clear going into the race what our options are,

:15:24. > :15:31.what the strategies are. We weren't going there with one plan, we will

:15:31. > :15:36.have a number of options and see what happens. It is a benefit to

:15:36. > :15:42.have different options. We need to make decisions, and once they have

:15:42. > :15:48.been made they need to be backed 100%. You need to make sacrifices

:15:48. > :15:55.for your team mates, just as they do for you. Are you confident you

:15:55. > :16:00.will be the protected rider? Yes, I am happy with that. She is happy

:16:00. > :16:05.with that and she will hope it happens because there has been an

:16:05. > :16:12.issue in the past between those two, but I'm sure today they will be

:16:12. > :16:17.riding for one rider only, and that is any rider with a Team GB top.

:16:17. > :16:23.There is about an hour and 20 minutes to go, they are working

:16:23. > :16:30.hard as always. Luci Martin, Riding for Great Britain, has been dropped

:16:30. > :16:36.from the back. Let's go live and joined Tanni Grey Thompson. Have

:16:36. > :16:41.you recovered from yesterday? I have and there is an amazing

:16:41. > :16:49.atmosphere here. It is packed even though we have a long way to go in

:16:49. > :16:53.the race yet. Let's talk about the chances of Team GB. Ironically, the

:16:53. > :16:58.fact that they are seen as less of a threat than Mark Cavendish could

:16:58. > :17:03.work in their favour. The Dutch are trying to control the race. Van

:17:03. > :17:10.Dyke has been making consistent attacks on the front to break the

:17:10. > :17:19.park. Marion Ross, the race favourite, has been making some

:17:19. > :17:29.attacks. There have been some punches, some crashers. It has been

:17:29. > :17:35.

:17:35. > :17:41.a dynamic race today. With only a two climbs on Box Hill. The main

:17:41. > :17:44.contenders have been out with punches earlier on, but everybody

:17:44. > :17:48.thinks Marion has the best chance, she is looking very comfortable.

:17:48. > :17:53.The fact that we have the best girls from Great Britain means it

:17:53. > :17:57.is looking good for them as well. Marion is certainly the bookie's

:17:57. > :18:02.favourite but she doesn't have the fans behind her. There were an

:18:02. > :18:07.estimated million people along the route yesterday. What kind of

:18:07. > :18:10.reception can't they expect? There are still tens of thousands of

:18:10. > :18:16.people around. Yesterday everyone disappeared and came back for the

:18:16. > :18:20.end, but nobody is moving today so I think the excitement has spurred

:18:20. > :18:26.everyone on to stay. I think the amount of British lives really

:18:26. > :18:31.helped Team GB. The you can see people working hard, and it looks

:18:31. > :18:36.like the British Jersey's Aaron the right place. Here we go, coming up

:18:36. > :18:44.to the final climb and the subsequent race yesterday was where

:18:44. > :18:50.it all unfolded. What will the next 16 minutes offer? Time to join the

:18:50. > :18:56.conclusion of the women's race. The first event to bring a gold medal

:18:56. > :19:01.for years ago - could history repeat itself? You are looking at

:19:01. > :19:11.three riders trying to go away from the depleted peloton on the

:19:11. > :19:16.

:19:16. > :19:19.approach to the summit of Box Hill. The pressure is on, believe me. It

:19:19. > :19:29.is a war of attrition right at the front as the riders are trying to

:19:29. > :19:35.

:19:35. > :19:40.Pooley on the previous lap, when Pooley tried to blow the opposition

:19:40. > :19:43.away. Once again, the rest are under pressure and Pooley is about

:19:43. > :19:49.five back. Armitstead and Pooley of Great Britain are right near the

:19:49. > :19:54.front. Vos was left to do that all alone. She created a gap,

:19:54. > :19:59.Armitstead went across to it. Absolutely no problem at all. I

:19:59. > :20:09.thought that two would work together but Vos was left alone. No

:20:09. > :20:16.

:20:16. > :20:26.one was willing to help Marianne here that we are not aware of that

:20:26. > :20:44.

:20:44. > :20:47.It's those two who are the strongest of the team. They are

:20:47. > :20:52.trying to keep it strong out but a lot of riders comfortably on the

:20:52. > :20:56.wheel. I think everybody had the psychological boost, knowing that

:20:56. > :21:01.if I get over this one at short climb that I'm in touch on the way

:21:01. > :21:05.back into London and have a shot at the Olympic gold medal. Armitstead

:21:06. > :21:09.is attacking on the right of our screen. Vos sees it straightaway.

:21:09. > :21:13.It's Lizzie Armitstead, the Yorkshire lass who is based over

:21:13. > :21:18.there in Belgium who has decided to have a go. She is putting the rest

:21:18. > :21:21.under pressure. Vos is bringing the field back up to them, but it's

:21:21. > :21:25.good to see that Armitstead has got the confidence to really have a

:21:25. > :21:30.crack here. Silver medal-winner in the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi

:21:30. > :21:33.and former British national champion. Once again the he's back.

:21:33. > :21:37.This has been a compelling and enthralling race with lots of

:21:37. > :21:42.little attacks developing. There's also been many punctures and

:21:42. > :21:47.crashes on the gritty corners. Coming through on the extreme right

:21:47. > :21:52.for Germany was Judith Arndt. As we get another move developing here. I

:21:52. > :21:56.must admit that I think the time for Lizzie Armitstead to contribute

:21:56. > :22:00.was when Vos attacked over the top on the descent. Lots of fresh legs,

:22:00. > :22:10.and now we are going to have lots of people just contributing to make

:22:10. > :22:10.

:22:10. > :22:51.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 56 seconds

:22:51. > :22:55.back? If they are, its two bid this has to come back together at

:22:55. > :23:00.the front because of Emma Pooley's work. A lot of attacking here, but

:23:00. > :23:04.so difficult to make a gap on these fast roads. Immediately back

:23:04. > :23:09.together again but Pooley is sitting in second position. The

:23:09. > :23:13.field, they are starting to get their second wind as they eased

:23:13. > :23:16.back. Still a lot of riders here, despite all the attacking.

:23:16. > :23:21.Australia trying to come through now to get to the front of the

:23:21. > :23:27.field, as Pooley continues to turn the screw here and put the rest

:23:27. > :23:32.into the red zone. They've got a sharp left-hander they got to

:23:32. > :23:37.negotiate again, where we saw a crash before. These small, twisting

:23:37. > :23:41.roads are great for people to attack. The opportunist move could

:23:41. > :23:45.be the rider who wins this in the end, somebody who jumps clear.

:23:45. > :23:55.Remember in the men's race we had those two riders who clipped off in

:23:55. > :24:03.

:24:03. > :24:07.the closing stages, with the gold the for before. Just squeezing

:24:07. > :24:14.through the inside of Pooley was the rider from America. There was

:24:14. > :24:18.almost a crash there, it was Shelley Olds. We have a lone

:24:18. > :24:23.attacker trying to go clear. It's good to see at the end of that

:24:23. > :24:26.corner shop, Nicole Cooke still in touch with this group. Her

:24:26. > :24:33.passionate style will come into its own at the end of this race. That

:24:33. > :24:38.is good news. We thought that Cook had lost contact. -- we thought

:24:38. > :24:44.that Cooke had lost contact. It is the rider from Russia who is on the

:24:44. > :24:48.attack. Zabelinskaya has had one or two probing moves early on in the

:24:48. > :24:52.race that didn't come to anything, but she is now trying to go away.

:24:52. > :25:02.She's been given a real opportunity here. It is possibly the biggest

:25:02. > :25:19.

:25:19. > :25:23.gap we've seen in this race, as biggest gap we've seen in this race

:25:23. > :25:28.today. They are going to have to bridge across to this soon. You are

:25:28. > :25:32.right. Zabelinskaya is being given her freedom. After all the attacks

:25:32. > :25:36.that we've seen, the field at the moment are sitting up, they are

:25:36. > :25:42.filling the road better to gutter. The urgency seems to be evaporating

:25:42. > :25:46.from the peloton. Zabelinskaya is profiting here big time. This is

:25:46. > :25:51.the opportunity to distance herself from the chasers. Nobody at the

:25:51. > :25:55.moment is limiting the gains of the leader. Can she keep the pace up?

:25:55. > :26:00.It's a long way to go, but she is a handy bike rider. She has won the

:26:00. > :26:05.women's version of the stage race in Sirmais overall throughout her

:26:05. > :26:08.career. She is a former world junior time-trial champion on the

:26:08. > :26:13.road and a former world junior points race champion. You are

:26:13. > :26:18.looking at him rider with a lot of quality. It is Russia with the lone

:26:18. > :26:23.leader, Zabelinskaya. There is the opportunity to see her mauve when

:26:23. > :26:27.she went away from the front of the peloton. She took an opportunity,

:26:27. > :26:31.she waited and waited, let the big names Tacy each other down. When

:26:31. > :26:35.she sensed it starting to ease, she launched an attack and has been

:26:36. > :26:39.given an opportunity, as they all looked at each other as she pushes

:26:39. > :26:49.out of these lanes. She will only be on the small roads for a little

:26:49. > :26:51.

:26:51. > :26:57.longer before they start to head easier when you have the whole road

:26:57. > :27:03.to use on your own. Pooley has got a gap. She's having a go, she

:27:03. > :27:07.realises the danger. I was going to say, when you are on your own, you

:27:07. > :27:12.can find a good line as approach to being in the wheels and foreign

:27:12. > :27:15.somebody else which could lead you into a dangerous situation. That is

:27:15. > :27:19.a good move because the Americans have been very strong throughout.

:27:19. > :27:25.We will wait and see who she's got with her here. It might be Shelley

:27:25. > :27:28.Olds. It is, she's in really good form. Having just won a stage in

:27:29. > :27:33.the women's version of the tour of Italy. We will wait for that

:27:33. > :27:36.confirmation. I know that Stevens is wearing a red helmet. That is a

:27:36. > :27:46.massive gap they've given Emma Pooley. She's a fantastic time

:27:46. > :27:53.trialist. You can see the flurry of activity behind. It is Amber Neben

:27:53. > :27:58.is. Look at the reaction from behind, they don't like it. Now

:27:58. > :28:01.back to the leader, Zabelinskaya, who is in front of the action.

:28:01. > :28:04.Pooley has got no allies because she has already reflected her

:28:04. > :28:12.strengths and skills, and that is why they are pulling her back from

:28:12. > :28:17.behind. Marianne Vos is now having a go. The race is exploding into

:28:17. > :28:23.action. We have a British rider back in third place. They are going

:28:23. > :28:26.to pick up Zabelinskaya. We have four riders clear. That was Cooke

:28:26. > :28:32.back towards the front bed. Armitstead, who seems to have the

:28:32. > :28:37.job of marking Bosc, every move that she makes, it is starting to

:28:37. > :28:41.break up now. There are gaps appearing. This could be a

:28:41. > :28:47.fantastic move. That could have been a fatal mistake on behalf of

:28:47. > :28:51.the remnants of the peloton. Excellent move there. Great Britain

:28:51. > :28:55.have representation. Marianne Vos is the red hot favourite. You

:28:55. > :28:59.wouldn't have got very good odds on betting on forced to win this. But

:28:59. > :29:03.look at the driving power of the Dutch woman on the front now.

:29:03. > :29:07.Marianne Vos is beginning to turn the screw. This quartet of riders

:29:07. > :29:13.are distancing themselves. If they could bridge up it would be a

:29:13. > :29:18.quality group at the front. I feel sure that it's one that is probably

:29:18. > :29:21.going to stay away until the finish. Will be able to tell in the next

:29:21. > :29:27.few minutes if it's going to stick. But already we have motorbikes

:29:27. > :29:33.between these groups, which indicates there is a reasonable gap.

:29:33. > :29:43.So it is Zabelinskaya, boss, Pooley from Great Britain and we've got

:29:43. > :29:47.

:29:47. > :29:57.keep this away. Lizzie Armitstead with Emma Pooley up the road. Two

:29:57. > :30:01.

:30:01. > :30:11.for Great Britain, that would be a is Zabelinskaya, Marianne Vos,

:30:11. > :30:13.

:30:13. > :30:18.Armitstead and Neben. Pooley has been so prominent but she's just

:30:18. > :30:21.slipped back. I'll slip back and you replace me. This is a great

:30:21. > :30:27.move. Germany on the back foot here. They've seen the danger and now

:30:27. > :30:30.have come to the front. Inevitably, sitting in the wheel of the German

:30:30. > :30:35.is a rider from Holland. She will not in any way contribute to the

:30:35. > :30:40.place. In fact, she will disrupt the rhythm of the chase, which will

:30:40. > :30:46.help Marianne Vos stay clear. This is very good. A rich mix of

:30:46. > :30:50.different countries. Not working too well together yet. Just

:30:50. > :30:53.starting to get organised now. They've been given a chance to take

:30:53. > :30:57.a breather and re-establish themselves in this group. If they

:30:57. > :31:02.work well together, they will be high, because the pressure has been

:31:02. > :31:06.on for a while. The teams having been able to reform, so the German

:31:06. > :31:09.team have spotted the danger but one person alone is not going to

:31:09. > :31:13.pull back a good working group of four, certainly a group of four of

:31:13. > :31:23.this quality. I think that is Shelley Olds in that group and not

:31:23. > :31:30.

:31:30. > :31:34.Neben. Shelley Olds is in very good the case. It is Shelley Olds.

:31:34. > :31:37.think that is better for the Americans, because she's come into

:31:37. > :31:42.this race having completed the women's version of the Tour of

:31:42. > :31:48.Italy, where she nailed stage six. She's a bit of a sprinter as well.

:31:48. > :31:55.The leading group again is a Zabelinskaya of Russia, Armitstead

:31:55. > :31:58.of Great Britain. Number 18, Shelley Olds of USA. Number eight,

:31:58. > :32:04.the molten hot favourite right at the back, Maryam boss of the

:32:04. > :32:09.Netherlands. They are fully committed to this now. They have

:32:09. > :32:13.just 12 seconds lead and less than an hour of racing to go. It is

:32:13. > :32:17.Germany behind who have been caught out. They are desperately trying to

:32:17. > :32:20.get back on terms. But the quality of this group, and you can see how

:32:20. > :32:26.committed they are, it's going to be a very difficult for some to

:32:26. > :32:31.bring back. This could well be the defining moment, the moment of

:32:31. > :32:35.selection. Just look at Marianne Vos. She's so eager to get on with

:32:35. > :32:40.this. The world Cyclo Cross champion, she won that back in the

:32:40. > :32:45.end of January. She has been the Cyclo Cross champion on many

:32:45. > :32:48.occasions. She has been the world road champion many times, second in

:32:48. > :32:53.the world road championships. She comes into this having finished 6th

:32:53. > :32:56.in the Olympic Games in this road race in Beijing. But she is a gold

:32:56. > :33:00.medal winner from the Beijing Olympics when she won the points

:33:00. > :33:06.raised on the track. The roads are dry, that gives them the

:33:06. > :33:10.opportunity to swing into the corner at all tempo. Can Lizzie

:33:10. > :33:16.Armitstead do what they call Cook did four years ago and take the top

:33:16. > :33:20.spot here in the women's road race? She saw the time to go, it wasn't

:33:20. > :33:24.on the climb. The opportunity came over the top. A desperate chase

:33:24. > :33:29.behind by the Germans and Italians. They are getting organised as well.

:33:30. > :33:33.They know they've got minutes to get back on terms. Any hesitation

:33:33. > :33:38.and those four will slip away. That's what happened yesterday in

:33:38. > :33:42.the men's race. That hesitation allowed a gap of a minute to go and

:33:42. > :33:47.suddenly there wasn't enough road to pull it back. 16 seconds now the

:33:47. > :33:50.gap. It is a nice gap which has been engineered. It is an

:33:50. > :33:53.economical working group at the front. What happens when you just

:33:53. > :33:56.got two countries that are conscious of the fact the medals

:33:56. > :34:00.are slipping away? That is Italy and Germany doing the chasing

:34:00. > :34:06.behind. Team-mates of these riders will get involved in disrupting

:34:06. > :34:10.that rhythm. That is whether four will profit from it. They can take

:34:10. > :34:13.the corner as quickly as well. and Armitstead are both on the same

:34:13. > :34:18.professional team, so they know which other well. There's

:34:18. > :34:21.definitely an incentive to work together, but it is being hardboard

:34:21. > :34:26.behind to pull them back on terms. It is going to be touch and go

:34:26. > :34:30.whether they managed to do it. Judith Arndt herself contributing

:34:30. > :34:35.to the chase. She knows she has to work if she wants to have a shot at

:34:35. > :34:39.a metal. And she's not a sprinter, so sure have to work out a system

:34:39. > :34:44.of trying to jump clear at the end. She's not a pure sprinter, she's

:34:44. > :34:48.got the power but this is total commitment now. Look at the riding

:34:48. > :34:51.style of Marianne Vos, right on the nose of the saddle. When riders are

:34:51. > :34:55.there, totally committed in that position, you know the tempo is

:34:55. > :35:05.absolutely at its limit. There's the rider that caused the damage

:35:05. > :35:11.

:35:11. > :35:18.originally bred at the front, the they have SPAR European Cross

:35:18. > :35:24.Country Championships the time trial. Great Britain have had a

:35:24. > :35:31.victory as well, but the USA are looking for their first winner

:35:31. > :35:36.since 1984 when collie carpenter Spotakova. There are only two of

:35:37. > :35:43.the Germans working now. Germany lost the chance yesterday by not

:35:43. > :35:48.contributing well, the British team not taking that chance. I think

:35:48. > :35:55.this group will stay away from Great Britain in the remnants of

:35:55. > :36:03.this peloton. We have Nicole Cooke and Emma Pooley waiting in the

:36:03. > :36:13.wings to counter anything. These four are profiting so any hesitant

:36:13. > :36:14.

:36:14. > :36:19.that creeps into the minds of the peloton and due to the disruption

:36:19. > :36:25.of the team bike, they will get away. It is still bitterly at the

:36:25. > :36:33.front having a go, Sweden sitting second. I can only assume that is

:36:33. > :36:39.Johansson, the silver medal winner from Beijing. It is going up, 22

:36:39. > :36:46.seconds now. It is beginning to stretch out. The rain is battling

:36:46. > :36:51.down now on these riders, as we get a shot of Nicole Cooke on the

:36:51. > :36:56.wheels. She can't attack now, she has a team made up the road. We

:36:56. > :37:01.thought this might be her job at this point in the race but Lizzie

:37:01. > :37:05.Armitstead has taken it on instead. The Dutch and British teams

:37:05. > :37:11.policing this move now, not many people coming to the front. They

:37:11. > :37:20.have got to get a trace organised soon. If they get over half the

:37:20. > :37:26.minute, the morale of the peloton will go down and it could be over.

:37:27. > :37:33.This is the time gap, 20 seconds. That is the kind of news they want

:37:33. > :37:37.to receive. They can see their hard work is beginning to pay off here.

:37:37. > :37:47.That move right up the summit of the climb taken not by the rest of

:37:47. > :37:53.the chasers certainly paying off. It is 22 seconds, so it is far from

:37:53. > :37:59.over but the peloton now know they are on the back foot. They have

:37:59. > :38:05.really got to keep a persistent chase behind, really consistent.

:38:05. > :38:09.Any hesitation, these four riding well together now, three of them

:38:09. > :38:14.would get a medal now and they know it is worth the commitment and the

:38:14. > :38:21.effort. They won't start thinking about the finish until the last few

:38:21. > :38:28.kilometres. The Canadians having a discussion, deciding what to do

:38:28. > :38:33.about this. Should we contribute to this chasing? All the time, the

:38:33. > :38:41.kilometres ticking by. They have got to contribute or lose the

:38:41. > :38:49.chance of a medal. 22 seconds now, so it is touch and go. The gap is

:38:49. > :38:53.testament to the monumental effort from the four at the front. We

:38:53. > :38:58.really are at a juicy stage in this competition. It inspires you when

:38:58. > :39:03.you see the effort made by these four and Great Britain in with a

:39:03. > :39:10.chance of nailing a place on the podium. Lizzie Armitstead is a

:39:10. > :39:15.great sprinter and Marianne Vos will know that. They are in a suit

:39:15. > :39:22.her position. Emma Pooley will not contribute to the pace, and neither

:39:22. > :39:28.with Judith Arndt at the front, the world time trial champion. Those

:39:28. > :39:37.three now are going away from the head of the peloton. The Italian,

:39:37. > :39:43.who was doing the chasing, is now on the back foot. Again, they are

:39:43. > :39:53.making this mistake, just one rider trying to pull this back. There are

:39:53. > :39:54.

:39:54. > :40:00.four quality riders further up the road. 19 seconds, the gap now. Some

:40:00. > :40:04.serious inroads being made, but one rider will not pull them back.

:40:04. > :40:12.than it is possibly the one rider who could do the damage here. Being

:40:12. > :40:22.the time-trial champion, she can keep the pace very high. -- Judith

:40:22. > :40:23.

:40:23. > :40:28.Arndt. It has gone back to 21 seconds, this really is an

:40:29. > :40:32.unbelievable chase here, spellbinding. I think we are seeing

:40:32. > :40:42.fluctuations in the G Ps system, curves in the road, because the

:40:42. > :40:48.

:40:48. > :40:52.pace is consistent here, not letting off. I don't think the

:40:52. > :40:56.motorbikes should be there, there was some of that yesterday when the

:40:56. > :41:03.riders were gesticulating, telling them to get out of the way.

:41:03. > :41:09.Germans getting a bit of help there, Judith Arndt doing a lot of the

:41:09. > :41:13.work on her own and she has some help here. I don't think they have

:41:13. > :41:20.the power to close this down because they have some sprinters

:41:20. > :41:25.who do not want to get involved in a chase of this severity. 22

:41:25. > :41:30.seconds is a nice gap to have because they are approaching the

:41:30. > :41:34.flat fast roads which will lead them back to the Mall. Marianne Vos

:41:34. > :41:42.at the front with a workmanlike style, really eager to keep the

:41:42. > :41:47.pace going. They are working well together but we have fresh legs

:41:47. > :41:52.behind coming to help the chase, but it is not consistent. It is in

:41:52. > :41:57.the balance now, this will be decided over the next few

:41:57. > :42:02.kilometres as they go on their way back to London these roads will be

:42:02. > :42:06.getting bigger. These riders have the opportunity of carving

:42:06. > :42:14.themselves a place into sporting immortality by nailing the top

:42:14. > :42:24.podium position in this women's road race. 140 kilometres, 66

:42:24. > :42:25.

:42:25. > :42:33.riders, but the field really has split. The Russia and at the front

:42:33. > :42:36.is really eager to keep the pressure on. I think the pressure

:42:36. > :42:42.is starting to tell on Lizzie Armitstead. All of them totally

:42:42. > :42:47.committed, driving as hard as they can. For this short time, they are

:42:47. > :42:54.on the same team, working together. The gap is supposedly coming down,

:42:54. > :43:00.but we can't see much in this torrential rain. 12 seconds, that

:43:00. > :43:05.is very close. Can you see anything from behind the motorbikes? The

:43:05. > :43:09.trace his Dillon, the Germans are still pulling everyone along. They

:43:09. > :43:14.have the confidence to think they can bridge the gap and it is

:43:14. > :43:24.Germany working tirelessly here. This is the problem, they just did

:43:24. > :43:31.

:43:31. > :43:38.so much work to pull back the gap and it is yo you yo-yoing all the

:43:38. > :43:42.time. You have got to start asking the questions, who has managed to

:43:42. > :43:47.save the most strength from the peloton behind because those at the

:43:47. > :43:53.front will have given the most. It's it is all over the place now.

:43:53. > :43:58.We had just got to believe in the rider's we have got. We have top

:43:58. > :44:03.four riders, Judith Arndt is a fantastic athlete to have at your

:44:03. > :44:13.service, one of the best time trial was in the world. They will have to

:44:13. > :44:22.be so careful on LEAs spends now. With those time checks a 27 seconds,

:44:22. > :44:28.it is like Judith Arndt tracing the four down. We have got a favour the

:44:28. > :44:35.four to stay away. They do some turning, then they stop. That is

:44:35. > :44:39.the problem, they have not got big teams, just a maximum of four

:44:39. > :44:44.riders sono individual country can pull this back. The need an

:44:44. > :44:50.amalgamation. It will be very difficult for them to come back.

:44:50. > :44:57.The gap is actually 26 seconds so they will not need much now. We are

:44:57. > :45:04.not going on these captions we are getting at the moment, we believe

:45:04. > :45:08.they are having some G Ps problems. The closing stages of this race RN

:45:08. > :45:12.crusted with and for Rawling action, spellbinding action, to decide

:45:12. > :45:18.where the medals will go and we have four different countries

:45:18. > :45:27.hanging on to the lead which we estimate at just over 20 seconds.

:45:27. > :45:32.That is a handy working cushion and the chasing pack will have to do

:45:33. > :45:36.something special. And now they are getting themselves organised. We

:45:36. > :45:41.have five different riders representing different nations

:45:41. > :45:50.starting to get together. We have Teutenberg at the front staying out

:45:50. > :45:54.of trouble. Judith Arndt has needed some company, she has got it now.

:45:54. > :45:59.If they work consistently together, they could do some damage but they

:45:59. > :46:03.have a very short amount of time to get back on terms because the

:46:03. > :46:08.kilometres are ticking away. They know they are in with a great

:46:08. > :46:13.chance of getting a podium position. Lizzie Armitstead looks very good

:46:13. > :46:20.to me. We have lost a rider, that is not good to the group, and it

:46:20. > :46:27.looks like Shelley Olds of the USA has gone. When did that happen? We

:46:27. > :46:32.didn't see her go. She is back with the group now, by the look of it.

:46:32. > :46:38.What happened? She is right at the back of the group. We didn't see

:46:38. > :46:43.what the incident was, but there have been a lot of different

:46:43. > :46:47.punctures in this race. You can see her wheels are different so it is

:46:47. > :46:52.highly likely she has suffered a puncture. This could be devastating,

:46:52. > :46:58.she was really contributing and they have now lost one quarter of

:46:58. > :47:04.their workforce. One of the members of the leading group, Shelley Olds,

:47:04. > :47:08.has gone. We didn't see it, but it doesn't mean the three riders are

:47:09. > :47:17.all medal-winners if they can stay away. Which way will the colours

:47:17. > :47:21.go? Lizzie Armitstead, Marianne Vos. Who is that? Johansson, one of the

:47:21. > :47:25.big favourites. She is a strong rider to take out of the group at

:47:26. > :47:30.the back which was helping with the chasing. Her team was helping with

:47:30. > :47:35.the chasing and the pressure will not let off now. I don't know

:47:35. > :47:40.whether individually she can get on terms with the main group, let

:47:40. > :47:45.alone the three at the front. Everyone in this breakaway now is

:47:45. > :47:51.guaranteed a medal if they stay away, and that is some motivation.

:47:51. > :47:58.I just said that, but where will the commas go? I don't know too

:47:58. > :48:01.much about the sprinting skills. I know a lot about Marianne Vos and

:48:01. > :48:06.Lizzie Armitstead, and Lizzie Armitstead on her day could really

:48:06. > :48:14.put Marianne Vos under pressure. It just depends on how they approached

:48:14. > :48:23.the line. This is a really big trio of talent setting themselves up for

:48:23. > :48:27.the medals. Italy holding their own, this group of three riders. That

:48:27. > :48:32.half the minute has become more interesting, and suddenly Johansson

:48:32. > :48:41.has a problem with the rear brake which requires some help. That

:48:41. > :48:44.really is naughty, that is actually being pushed. They are heading

:48:44. > :48:49.towards Hampton Court and they will be assembling here on Wednesday

:48:49. > :48:54.when they tackle the time-trial. Just got a glimpse of Teutenberg of

:48:54. > :48:58.Germany, and the sprinter, and she will be thinking to herself that

:48:58. > :49:05.she is sprinting for fourth place here, one shy of the podium, and

:49:05. > :49:09.that is not exactly what she wanted. She can do nothing now. She is in a

:49:09. > :49:15.similar position to Mark Cavendish yesterday. She just have to trust

:49:15. > :49:19.the team to control the race. These three are motivated now, and of

:49:19. > :49:24.course we have Nicole Cooke and M are poorly held in reserve should

:49:24. > :49:34.this not work, but it is looking more and more likely and we are

:49:34. > :49:35.

:49:35. > :49:41.seeing some distance growing little bit. 20 kilometres remaining,

:49:41. > :49:46.they need all three of them to work together. It looks as though Olga

:49:46. > :49:50.Zabelinskaya is running out of steam. That will play into the

:49:50. > :49:55.advantage of the group behind, because there are more workers

:49:55. > :50:01.behind if she becomes a passenger and she has to sit on the back. The

:50:01. > :50:04.workload is: To be raised by a third, and it means it is Lizzie

:50:05. > :50:11.Armitstead and Marianne Vos are trying to stay clear for the medals.

:50:11. > :50:18.The Russian is struggling, that is not good. But she is coming through.

:50:18. > :50:27.Perhaps it was only a little falter, they need all of them to contribute.

:50:27. > :50:31.The gap is growing. Slowly, slowly moving further up the road. These

:50:31. > :50:37.riders are utterly committed, this is their shot. Lizzie Armitstead

:50:37. > :50:43.getting some food, it is important to keep on top of the fuel supply.

:50:43. > :50:52.Olga Zabelinskaya will do everything she can. She is at

:50:52. > :50:56.classed by the other two. I think Lizzie Armitstead showed the form

:50:56. > :51:04.that she has got, the sprint will be close between her and Marianne

:51:04. > :51:08.Vos. They are in the form of their lives. We are hedging our bets on

:51:08. > :51:13.the form of Olga Zabelinskaya. She is not always in the leading

:51:13. > :51:17.positions, but she is making a real fist of it. Now, she is

:51:17. > :51:22.contributing well to the workload. Look at the position of Marianne

:51:22. > :51:30.Vos, she is such a talent. Can Lizzie Armitstead do what Nicole

:51:30. > :51:34.Cooke did for Mark Ridgers ago? They are looking good. We think the

:51:34. > :51:41.gap might be more than that. We will get some confirmation for due

:51:41. > :51:46.in a seconder. We have got our own timing. We believe the gap is now

:51:46. > :51:50.40 seconds. I do not think they will get caught. They are punching

:51:50. > :51:55.well above their weight, inspired by the fact that they know they

:51:55. > :52:01.have got a medal from the Olympic Games. Italy still on the front,

:52:01. > :52:07.tapping out the rhythm to try and ruin the chances of the three ahead.

:52:07. > :52:12.The praise of Italians at the front, the flick of the elbow, keep the

:52:12. > :52:19.pace-stop we need more than three riders if they want to print this

:52:20. > :52:25.race back. They have an influx of fresh legs. When Emma Johansson had

:52:25. > :52:30.a puncture, they lost some important support. But these three

:52:30. > :52:34.are consistent, they have got time to dodo. They might get some fresh

:52:34. > :52:42.legs and close the gap. The three are consistently pushing on all the

:52:42. > :52:48.way as they come back across the Thames. There is Hampton court

:52:48. > :52:56.Palace, what a glorious shot. A hugely impressive message that they

:52:56. > :53:01.are sending. Lizzie Armitstead injecting more pace. She has put

:53:01. > :53:08.the Russian under pressure. I think she will do better to keep the pace

:53:08. > :53:13.consistent. You need to stay together. We know our cheques are

:53:13. > :53:20.accurate, 40 seconds, that is fantastic news. It will be morale-

:53:20. > :53:27.sapping for the peloton behind. They are losing more ground. Olga

:53:27. > :53:32.Zabelinskaya it is not doing much. Shelley Olds was doing all she

:53:32. > :53:38.could earlier, every little bit counts. But these three have a

:53:38. > :53:42.different situation, when you are committed, guaranteed a medal.

:53:42. > :53:50.at the sinuous line that was formed, that tells you that the pressure is

:53:50. > :53:54.fully on at the front. Germany carving out the pace, with Judith

:53:54. > :53:59.Arndt looking after the interests of Ina Teutenberg. They chase like

:53:59. > :54:05.this will be very telling, because if they bridge, Ina Teutenberg will

:54:05. > :54:10.have nobody to lead her out, because Judith Arndt will surely be

:54:10. > :54:17.spent. The gap has confirmed at 36 seconds. The disparity in the

:54:17. > :54:20.abilities of the front trio is the problem. They need three bodies.

:54:20. > :54:25.Marianne Vos and Lizzie Armitstead are clearly superior, and that is

:54:25. > :54:31.causing a problem. Olga Zabelinskaya will do all she can,

:54:31. > :54:40.let's hope it is enough. They had eaten more time. They are both in

:54:40. > :54:45.imperious form. We are observing weakness bringing it -- coming into

:54:45. > :54:50.the effort of Olga Zabelinskaya. You get the feeling she is still

:54:50. > :54:54.trying to help the other two, but if she weakens more, she could get

:54:54. > :55:00.dropped away and get picked up by the peloton, which will leave the

:55:00. > :55:04.two at the front to do the work. It is planed nicely into the hands of

:55:04. > :55:10.the front three at the moment. are getting organised behind, we

:55:10. > :55:16.have got America and Emma Johansson's team, the Germans, the

:55:16. > :55:22.whole group starting to work. Emma Pooley sitting on the back, waiting

:55:22. > :55:26.to see what happens. No need to worry about placings. She can get

:55:26. > :55:31.maximum shelter if she wants to. There is a wider near the back,

:55:32. > :55:38.that she came to the front, but would help the others. It is Linda

:55:38. > :55:41.Melanie Villumsen. If Nicole Cooke can get amongst the front riders

:55:41. > :55:46.and start to disrupt the rhythm, that would play very nicely into

:55:46. > :55:54.the hands of Lizzie Armitstead. is getting herself behind the

:55:54. > :55:57.chases, but we have a consistent five or six riders going through.

:55:57. > :56:01.Judith Arndt and Kristin Armstrong are amongst them, that is a strong

:56:01. > :56:11.group. At the front, they are starting to feel the pressure and

:56:11. > :56:15.crack a little bit. 20 riders left? 20, maximum. Kristin Armstrong has

:56:15. > :56:22.come to different, she has one of the best time trials in the

:56:22. > :56:26.business, a former world champion. With Judith Arndt, two specialists

:56:26. > :56:30.against the clock, bake or the wrong two to chase down the front

:56:30. > :56:40.three. But they are determined. They have got the bit between their

:56:40. > :56:40.

:56:40. > :56:45.teeth. It is touch and go, we have a nail-biting situation. Kristin

:56:45. > :56:52.Armstrong to ring a massive amount of work. Still up there, Noemi

:56:52. > :56:58.Cantele of Italy. They will be given the incentive that the death

:56:58. > :57:04.is coming down. They are piling on the pressure, they have just got a

:57:04. > :57:09.few minutes to de rigueur. The gap is still over 30 seconds on my

:57:09. > :57:16.watch. I have taken a mark on the other side of this building. The

:57:16. > :57:21.front three of still holding their own, I reckon the cat is 34 seconds.

:57:21. > :57:27.-- gap. These twists of going to make the difference, that will

:57:27. > :57:31.really help these three. Lizzie Armitstead really is absolutely

:57:31. > :57:39.flying. She is quite close to the motorbike, she could profit from

:57:39. > :57:44.that. Olga Zabelinskaya is second. The work and the damage is being

:57:45. > :57:50.done by Kristin Armstrong by the USA, she is beginning to turn the

:57:50. > :57:59.screw. All the American team are near the front, so the rider that

:57:59. > :58:03.was in the break, Shelley Olds, she is still there. If the gap is 39

:58:03. > :58:10.seconds, they have gone up a bit. But we will not rely on that, we

:58:10. > :58:15.will do our own times. These calamitous cannot count down fast

:58:16. > :58:21.enough for the front three, all of them are guaranteed a medal --

:58:21. > :58:31.these kilometres cannot count down fast enough. I did not want to call

:58:31. > :58:33.

:58:33. > :58:37.the sprint. These three are totally committed. Each one of them has got

:58:37. > :58:42.a medal guaranteed if they can get to the line ahead of the chasing

:58:42. > :58:46.peloton. Where the colours will go, we have to wait and see, but they

:58:46. > :58:54.are impressive, they are working consistently. It was a difficult

:58:54. > :58:58.move to get going, it happened on the descent. They will soon be

:58:58. > :59:03.heading through Richmond Park. From there, it is not far to get back

:59:04. > :59:07.into the city. It is not a good time, because when they are into

:59:07. > :59:13.Richmond Park, it will be possible for the chasing group to see the

:59:13. > :59:19.leaders. Lizzie Armitstead said they need to know what is happening

:59:19. > :59:24.behind. They are not getting the information. Normally, they would

:59:24. > :59:30.have radios. They can get all of this information from the cars

:59:30. > :59:35.behind. They are not getting anything a tall, very frustrating.

:59:35. > :59:43.It was the same situation for the men. We can use our own stopwatches

:59:43. > :59:47.to gauge the difference. They need to get the white board up there on

:59:47. > :59:52.the motorbike to tell the leaders what the advantage is, because they

:59:52. > :59:58.are blind, they do not know what it is. Another American comes up to

:59:58. > :00:04.the front, Judith Arndt is always there in the next. We come up to

:00:04. > :00:10.Richmond Park. It is touch and go. It is a nail-biter in the closing

:00:10. > :00:16.stages. The crowd are crouching against the barriers, they will

:00:16. > :00:19.recognise the co-owners of the British rider, and the cacophony of

:00:19. > :00:24.applause for Lizzie Armitstead, she is trying to ride away from the

:00:24. > :00:33.rest. We enter Richmond Park for the second time, the finish is

:00:33. > :00:39.getting ever nearer. That time, 40 seconds, is not too far off, I will

:00:39. > :00:43.give you a cheque in a minute. The gap is getting bigger. More people

:00:43. > :00:49.are contributing behind, but they are not of the class of dividers we

:00:49. > :00:54.saw before. Olga Zabelinskaya it is struggling at, and that is breaking

:00:54. > :00:59.up the momentum. They are still hammering away with the challenge

:00:59. > :01:04.of keeping the group behind away from getting up to them. Looked at

:01:04. > :01:10.Marianne Vos, she is looking good. She would love to get a time check,

:01:10. > :01:15.I cannot understand why they are not being told. Marianne Vos and

:01:15. > :01:19.Lizzie Armitstead need to be on each other. They are separated by

:01:19. > :01:26.Olga Zabelinskaya at the moment. If they could get together, it would

:01:27. > :01:33.help the Russian to contribute. She did just do what she could. The

:01:33. > :01:38.peloton of getting a time check, but we cannot see that. They are

:01:38. > :01:45.frustrated by that. They have sent a message to the peloton of seismic

:01:45. > :01:51.proportions. Fake or full of riding, and if they want to be pulled back,

:01:51. > :01:57.the peloton has to do something impressive. If that time is right,

:01:57. > :02:04.they are getting away marginally. It is there or thereabouts. We can

:02:04. > :02:08.be sure within five or six seconds. The peloton on not making any

:02:08. > :02:12.inroads at the moment. The danger for the front group is if they

:02:12. > :02:16.start to look at each other in the closing kilometres. They have got a

:02:16. > :02:23.big margin, but that could be eroded if they play cat-and-mouse

:02:24. > :02:29.too early. It is a gallant effort by the three at the front. They are

:02:29. > :02:34.trying to hold off the field. They are starting to punch a little,

:02:34. > :02:42.which indicates the sting is carried out of the chase. They will

:02:42. > :02:48.not manage it, the kilometres are ticking down. It really is a nail-

:02:48. > :02:55.biter. 10 miles, you could not have written a better script. The

:02:55. > :02:58.Patriot isn't is beginning to spill over. -- page it is a map. They

:02:58. > :03:03.will know that Lizzie Armitstead is approaching, they are getting the

:03:03. > :03:09.commentary feed on the screens. She will get eight huge lift, these are

:03:10. > :03:16.great moments for the Yorkshire lass. One of the reasons you see

:03:17. > :03:21.Olga Zabelinskaya suffering a bit, going through Richmond Park, it

:03:21. > :03:25.undulates a little bit. That was nothing to them before, but now,

:03:25. > :03:32.they are starting to feel the fatigue, the pressure has been on

:03:32. > :03:38.for two and was, and we saw Lizzie Armitstead making sure she had a

:03:38. > :03:42.gel, keeping on top of the feeding. That is professional, you are

:03:43. > :03:50.keeping on the pressure on the pedals, and if you forget something

:03:51. > :03:59.like that, it can destroy your race. This is a weather and road. It does

:03:59. > :04:04.undulate. Nicole Cooke on the left, she is getting behind the chasers.

:04:04. > :04:09.It does not persuade anybody else from helping out. Everybody working

:04:09. > :04:14.hard, they have got six or seven riders, they are not making any

:04:14. > :04:22.inroads. Looking at Nicole Cooke makes me realise, she was delayed

:04:22. > :04:27.with a problem earlier. Kristin Armstrong is slipping back. Come on,

:04:27. > :04:32.Lizzie Armitstead says. She is gesticulating at the others.

:04:32. > :04:42.Marianne Vos was looking back in concerned. Lizzie Armitstead fall

:04:42. > :04:49.

:04:49. > :04:56.and better in fact towards the end of this race. Marianne Vos always

:04:56. > :05:02.tends to miss out on the big ones, that could happen again. The final

:05:02. > :05:07.kilometres unfolding in the race. It is a carbon copy of the race in

:05:07. > :05:12.Beijing. That was a thriller when Nicole Cooke got the gold ahead of

:05:12. > :05:20.Johansson, but the weather was exactly the same as well. It was

:05:20. > :05:29.peppering down, just as it is now. They are round the corner safely,

:05:29. > :05:34.now they can lie in off-again. saw some gaps starting to appear.

:05:34. > :05:38.They are being very careful around the corners, and right they should

:05:38. > :05:45.be as well. They have everything to lose and this margin is very good

:05:45. > :05:50.indeed. It would need something terrible to go wrong not to

:05:50. > :05:55.maintain this now. They are consistently working together,

:05:55. > :05:59.knowing that a medal could be theirs. I am pleased to say that it

:05:59. > :06:04.looks like Zabelinskaya has got over the Hickok which we thought

:06:04. > :06:10.earlier on meant she had run out of steam. She is actually

:06:10. > :06:15.contributing... Look at the Canadian on the corner, she almost

:06:15. > :06:23.went down. She just about rectified the problem. We have a problem, I

:06:23. > :06:29.think that was another one of the Canadians. There is another attack

:06:29. > :06:34.on the front from the USA. We can tell you for sure the lead has

:06:34. > :06:38.extended to 50 seconds now, which ironically is about the same

:06:38. > :06:47.distance the front group had in the men's race yesterday and they made

:06:47. > :06:52.it all the way to the line. These three are in fantastic shape now.

:06:52. > :07:00.bet that gave her an adrenalin rush. She just about managed to stay

:07:00. > :07:05.upright. Who will win this contest? We have two cracking sprinters,

:07:05. > :07:10.with Lizzie Armitstead and Marianne Vos. We don't know too much about

:07:10. > :07:15.the sprinting ability of Zabelinskaya. The motorbike getting

:07:15. > :07:22.very close. Normally the judges would be much more on top of things

:07:22. > :07:26.like that. It is not ideal for them to get help from passing traffic.

:07:26. > :07:31.The slipstream makes a big difference, really helps out. It is

:07:31. > :07:38.like having someone else in the group for a few seconds, but these

:07:38. > :07:43.three we can safely say have done the work themselves. They have not

:07:43. > :07:50.faltered at all. We have seen some big names chasing behind. We have

:07:50. > :07:56.seen Judith Arndt on the front, but to no avail and these three have

:07:56. > :08:03.make the gap bigger and bigger. have got to ask yourself the

:08:03. > :08:07.question, if they do maintain the lead, success is getting what you

:08:07. > :08:14.want but happiness is likely what you get so they are all in with a

:08:14. > :08:19.chance of getting the medals, but which way will the colours go?

:08:19. > :08:24.buffer it is looking more and more healthy, as we get a shot of them

:08:24. > :08:28.are poorly at the back. I think she wants some information from the car,

:08:28. > :08:38.she wants to know what is going on at the front, but there is nothing

:08:38. > :08:43.

:08:43. > :08:50.she can do a -- apart from police the moves. A few seconds game can

:08:50. > :08:55.help them. This will be the last time she feeds between now and the

:08:55. > :09:00.dinner table tonight, and will it be a celebration meal? They know

:09:00. > :09:05.they are in with an opportunity of having a crack at the medals. They

:09:05. > :09:10.can see the kilometres slipping away, getting nearer to the finish.

:09:10. > :09:18.Look at Lizzie Armitstead getting great support from the roadside. A

:09:18. > :09:22.terrific display of even work here, three riders like a team time trial.

:09:22. > :09:27.They have the order better now as well. Zabelinskaya is looking

:09:27. > :09:32.better towards the end of the race. She will contribute when she can

:09:32. > :09:37.but she is not getting the change in pace as she was before. She was

:09:37. > :09:43.splitting up these two strong riders. The road is covered in

:09:43. > :09:49.water, torrential rain has not stopped for the last half-hour.

:09:49. > :09:54.They are called in a bullish mood as they continued to pour on the

:09:54. > :09:59.coals. Lizzie Armitstead is totally inspired by the occasion. Italy

:09:59. > :10:03.once again coming to the front but I feel their chances are beginning

:10:03. > :10:08.to evaporate. You can see it in their faces. There doesn't seem

:10:08. > :10:11.that passion to bring this back. A lot of these countries have only

:10:12. > :10:17.one rider, and you would have thought they would start to work

:10:17. > :10:22.through to give themselves at least an opportunity of getting a medal.

:10:22. > :10:29.There is nothing the sprinter can do, it is in the hands of her team-

:10:29. > :10:35.mates. I think the heart is going out of this chase now. I think that

:10:35. > :10:40.is a good show it. 27 years of age, Teutenberg, a long career she has

:10:40. > :10:45.had an she must be thinking she was in with a chance here. I was just

:10:45. > :10:50.wondering if there would be a danger on that corner, but this is

:10:50. > :11:00.a real wide sweeping arc as they make their way to the finish.

:11:00. > :11:05.they are starting to just six miles of racing to go, when these three

:11:05. > :11:10.might start to think about attacking each other. Almost

:11:10. > :11:15.certainly the attack will come from Marianne Vos or Lizzie Armitstead.

:11:15. > :11:21.Ones that start, the working will stop and the gap will be eroded.

:11:21. > :11:27.They need to start thinking about that when there is only three

:11:27. > :11:32.kilometres to go. I don't want to start thinking about that because

:11:32. > :11:37.the bunch is pouring down on them. Pity is the very handsome cushion

:11:37. > :11:42.of advantage for the three ahead but I don't want to see them

:11:42. > :11:47.attacking each other until the final kilometre, then they will be

:11:47. > :11:54.safe. Still a sizable group here but only a few passengers

:11:54. > :11:58.contributing to the pace. They had those time checks and it showed

:11:58. > :12:02.them their work has been for nothing. These three have taken

:12:02. > :12:09.more time out of them and the morale will have dropped in the

:12:09. > :12:13.peloton. These three are going to find more of that courage as they

:12:13. > :12:18.ask more of themselves, but their ideas are turning very efficiently

:12:18. > :12:23.and I am pleased to say Zabelinskaya looks as if she has

:12:23. > :12:33.got over that he cupped hand they are motoring on nearer and nearer

:12:33. > :12:40.

:12:40. > :12:46.to the finish. -- got over that hiccup. Nine kilometres remaining,

:12:46. > :12:54.about 12 minutes, and we have a British rider poised, possibly, to

:12:54. > :12:59.take a gold medal. Marianne Vos is some serious competition. They will

:12:59. > :13:04.be going over Putney Bridge for the final time, the final crossing over

:13:04. > :13:11.the Thames before they start to go on to Fulham Road and then the

:13:11. > :13:21.conclusion on to the finish. They are still working flat out here.

:13:21. > :13:22.

:13:22. > :13:26.The break developed through Zabelinskaya. One of the Finnish

:13:26. > :13:34.riders is trying to bridge the gap on her Rome, she will not make it

:13:34. > :13:44.on her own. There was an incredible reaction from Shelley Olds, who

:13:44. > :13:49.went along with Marianne Vos and Lizzie Armitstead, and that his --

:13:49. > :13:54.is how the break happened. Somebody will attack, then they will get

:13:54. > :13:58.caught, and it will slow again so that really is playing into the

:13:58. > :14:03.hands of these three. One of the most thrilling of the women's

:14:03. > :14:08.contests for the gold medal that I have seen and it's certainly is

:14:08. > :14:12.going to go right down to the wire. The chase, they have not given up,

:14:12. > :14:16.but we are looking at the possibility of Great Britain

:14:17. > :14:22.replicating the gold medal position of four years ago with Lizzie

:14:22. > :14:32.Armitstead. The Dutch have won this twice. We have a problem, one of

:14:32. > :14:39.the Russians has had to stop. She will never get back. She crashed.

:14:39. > :14:44.Dear, oh dear. How did she do that? She touched the wheel in the middle

:14:44. > :14:49.of the bunch. With the wet road surface, she will not have suffered

:14:49. > :14:54.too badly. She will live to fight another day, but her race is over

:14:54. > :15:04.now. Marianne Vos is trying to become the third woman from Holland

:15:04. > :15:14.

:15:15. > :15:18.to win this title. There has never been a win by Russia. America

:15:18. > :15:24.continued the chase from behind, and the kilometres are slipping

:15:24. > :15:30.away. We are getting to the business end of the contest. Nine

:15:31. > :15:36.minutes of racing remaining. Will they be working all the way to the

:15:36. > :15:42.line? They have lost some of that advantage. 38 seconds now, that has

:15:42. > :15:48.closed the gap, but is it enough? They have to keep the pressure on

:15:48. > :15:58.if they want to keep in contention. It will not be easy, but I think

:15:58. > :16:01.

:16:01. > :16:06.that time for to -- the time on the caption is not correct, we are

:16:06. > :16:16.keeping our own time here. They have had some of their advantage

:16:16. > :16:16.

:16:16. > :16:25.nibbled away. If it starts early, that will not help. They will know

:16:25. > :16:30.that. They don't know if they had time, they have not seen the time

:16:30. > :16:37.checks, but they have got to go all the way to the last few kilometres

:16:37. > :16:43.before they start seeing which medals they will get. It is nail-

:16:43. > :16:48.biting to say the least, just over three miles, and we are seeing 50

:16:48. > :16:54.seconds but we are timing ourselves here in the commentary box and we

:16:54. > :17:01.think that is rather generous. We think it is something more like 38,

:17:01. > :17:05.40, but it is a handsome margin. That is a problem for Emma Pooley.

:17:05. > :17:12.Emma Pooley of Great Britain, who has been so aggressive throughout

:17:12. > :17:16.the race, has picked up a problem. It may well be a puncture. That

:17:16. > :17:23.means Nicole Cooke is isolated as the only other British survivor in

:17:23. > :17:27.what is left of the peloton. Crouching down, keeping the tempo

:17:27. > :17:31.high. The you can see they are riding hard to now but they have

:17:31. > :17:41.backed off ever-so-slightly. They are starting to think about the

:17:41. > :17:44.

:17:44. > :17:52.finish. The Belgium here, another good rider. We can see Emma Pooley

:17:52. > :17:57.getting back on her bike but it is too late now. She helped Lizzie

:17:57. > :18:01.Armitstead get into this position, and that is everything the British

:18:01. > :18:11.team could ask for. This is exactly the person they wanted to bring to

:18:11. > :18:17.the sprint finish. Soon into Knightsbridge before they get to

:18:17. > :18:24.constitution Hill and the concluding approach into the red

:18:24. > :18:34.tarmac in the Mall. They are being advised of the action so they know

:18:34. > :18:36.

:18:36. > :18:45.there is a British rider in contention for a medal here. It

:18:45. > :18:49.there has been severe action, and heaps of attacks that we have been

:18:49. > :18:54.able to commentate on. It concerns a lot of the other races I have

:18:54. > :19:01.seen over the season. Zabelinskaya contradicting valiantly. She has

:19:01. > :19:06.been in trouble a couple of times on this breakaway, all the way back

:19:06. > :19:14.from the lanes of sorry. There has been an hour they have spent,

:19:14. > :19:20.toiling away, Zabelinskaya doing all she can. She is assured of a

:19:20. > :19:26.medal now, barring any mishap. We think the time gaps are starting to

:19:26. > :19:31.become more accurate now and the gap is starting to creep up. There

:19:31. > :19:41.has been a flurry of speed, then that eases whilst they look at each

:19:41. > :19:45.

:19:45. > :19:50.he's back, that does not counter the consistent workload of the

:19:50. > :19:55.three. A well or old engine, the legs going up-and-down like pistons.

:19:55. > :19:59.They know they are definitely in for a podium position. Another

:19:59. > :20:04.spirited effort from behind, as the riders try to pull back the three,

:20:04. > :20:10.but I think their efforts are in favour. The Russian takes her a

:20:10. > :20:16.last drink of the race. The race is getting closer and closer.

:20:16. > :20:21.cameras could do with stained with these three, because we might start

:20:21. > :20:26.to see some attacks. I am sure it will come from Lizzie Armitstead or

:20:26. > :20:32.Marianne Vos. I do not know if she will have the confidence to leave

:20:32. > :20:37.it to a sprint, but they might attack before they get to the line.

:20:37. > :20:42.Judith Arndt coming to different, she has pulled the peloton I longed.

:20:42. > :20:48.She would have done better to have stayed in the wheels are a bit and

:20:48. > :20:52.tried to jump clear up and instigate a splinter attack. She is

:20:52. > :20:58.pulling the peloton on all the time. That has not achieved the target of

:20:58. > :21:03.pulling back to the front three. We are getting towards the end. Less

:21:03. > :21:13.than three kilometres to go. They are getting some time checks from a

:21:13. > :21:13.

:21:13. > :21:17.motorbike. Somebody has just decided they need some information.

:21:17. > :21:24.The last 2.5 kilometres of this race. They will have to be so

:21:24. > :21:30.vigilant, they have worked so hard for this opportunity. Lizzie

:21:30. > :21:36.Armitstead has to watch Marianne Vos. They are going to start to

:21:36. > :21:40.think about going for the winner. Positioning is so important.

:21:40. > :21:47.Whether or not Marianne Vos will be pleased to lead, I do not know. I

:21:47. > :21:52.am sure Lizzie Armitstead will want to come from behind. Olga

:21:52. > :21:59.Zabelinskaya is indifferent. It looks like Marianne Vos wants to

:21:59. > :22:03.keep the Russian at the front. We are getting closer to the finish.

:22:03. > :22:08.Lockout for the red kite, that is the pennant that will tell us there

:22:08. > :22:14.is only one kilometre to go. This is age huge effort from the Russian,

:22:14. > :22:22.Marianne Vos does not want to come through. Olga Zabelinskaya says, a

:22:22. > :22:28.bronze medal, that is all I am going to get any way. She eased off

:22:28. > :22:33.the pace a little bit, but she is still riding. They have lost a few

:22:33. > :22:38.seconds. They cannot mess about, because the group behind are still

:22:38. > :22:43.working to try to pull them back. Lizzie Armitstead is taking a turn

:22:43. > :22:48.at the back. Do not do it for too long, otherwise the group will

:22:48. > :22:54.close you down. Marianne Vos has taken the sting out of the pace,

:22:54. > :23:00.she is not governed as quickly as she was before. This is clever from

:23:00. > :23:04.Lizzie Armitstead. She is out of sight of Marianne Vos. Olga

:23:04. > :23:12.Zabelinskaya is going early, I cannot believe it! She is trying to

:23:12. > :23:19.jump clear. It was a forlorn effort, it was more of an acceleration. She

:23:19. > :23:23.has not got the sharpness of speed of the other two. Lizzie Armitstead

:23:23. > :23:27.is playing a dangerous game, she is bluffing Marianne Vos. She wants to

:23:27. > :23:34.stay at the back and have the advantage of surprise for a sprint

:23:34. > :23:40.finish. She started early, it is nail-biting. It is quite scary.

:23:40. > :23:48.They are round the corner safely. They will see the kite soon. Under

:23:48. > :23:55.1000 metres, just over, remaining. The red kite, one kilometre to go.

:23:55. > :24:00.Who will be the Olympic champion? Olga Zabelinskaya is at the front,

:24:00. > :24:05.Marianne Vos in second, Lizzie Armitstead in the best position for

:24:05. > :24:10.the element of surprise, in third place. This will be a charge for

:24:10. > :24:14.the line. The crowd are getting behind them. In a matter of seconds,

:24:15. > :24:19.they will see who wins the gold medal. Lizzie Armitstead positioned

:24:19. > :24:24.herself on the wheel of Marianne Vos, one of the fastest women in

:24:24. > :24:29.the world. Has she got the form today? I think she is the fastest

:24:29. > :24:34.finisher in the business. Look for the attack of Marianne Vos. Can

:24:34. > :24:39.Lizzie Armitstead spring a surprise? You can see the remnants

:24:39. > :24:44.of the peloton in the distance. They will not get up to the free.

:24:44. > :24:50.They are closing in to the approach. They are on the red carpet of... On

:24:50. > :24:57.The Mall. It is still Olga Zabelinskaya in different. The line

:24:57. > :25:02.is getting nearer. It is still Olga Zabelinskaya. Marianne Vos is

:25:02. > :25:07.leading. Can Lizzie Armitstead challenge? Lizzie Armitstead is

:25:07. > :25:12.trying to get alongside. Both riders are looking for the liner.

:25:12. > :25:18.Marianne Vos takes the gold medal, Lizzie Armitstead takes the silver

:25:18. > :25:24.medal, Olga Zabelinskaya takes the bronze medal. Will we see a sprint

:25:24. > :25:31.for fourth place? Marianne Vos won the gold medal in Beijing for the

:25:31. > :25:36.points on the track. This is the sprint for fourth place. It looks

:25:36. > :25:43.like Ina Teutenberg. Ina Teutenberg comes up to the line for fourth

:25:43. > :25:48.place. A cracking finish. Those three gave the rest of the slip and

:25:48. > :25:52.they held the chasing group at bay. In the final sprint, Lizzie

:25:52. > :25:57.Armitstead tried hard, but she could not quite get up to the

:25:57. > :26:02.Flying Dutch woman, Marianne Vos. It is a great performance from the

:26:02. > :26:08.Yorkshire woman. Lizzie Armitstead gets the silver medal. What a

:26:09. > :26:15.courageous ride by the Russian, Olga Zabelinskaya. That was an

:26:15. > :26:19.absorbing race, compelling action. That was fantastic. Marianne Vos

:26:19. > :26:24.has desperately wanted that result for so long, she has had a very

:26:24. > :26:32.good season. Lizzie Armitstead did everything right, she worked when

:26:32. > :26:37.she had to, it was a fantastic race, but she did not have the speed. Ina

:26:37. > :26:43.Teutenberg took the race for fourth place, she looked dejected. Nicole

:26:43. > :26:46.Cooke was trailing in that group. For every sporting, all of the

:26:46. > :26:50.athletes from the different countries acknowledging the efforts

:26:50. > :26:54.of the riders that have claimed the medals. Their race against each

:26:54. > :26:59.other on the road circuit, they know each other's strengths and

:26:59. > :27:03.weaknesses. Marianne Vos, the Olympic champion. We are bringing

:27:03. > :27:09.in some of the back markers. Emma Pooley had that problem in the

:27:09. > :27:14.concluding kilometres. She is looking to see who have got the

:27:14. > :27:22.medals. A big smile, she is aware that her team-mate, Lizzie

:27:22. > :27:28.Armitstead, has secured the silver medal. It was a great ride. It was

:27:28. > :27:33.beautiful. By far the best race of her career. She might not have won,

:27:33. > :27:39.but she rode fantastically. I did notice, she was trying to get a

:27:39. > :27:49.last bit of food, she dropped it, so that might have been a problem.

:27:49. > :27:49.

:27:49. > :27:54.Huge congratulations, such a thrill to see you coming up and taking a

:27:54. > :28:04.silver medal. How good does that feel? I do not know, it is really

:28:04. > :28:04.

:28:04. > :28:09.strange. I do not know, I am a bit shocked. Thank you, and there!

:28:09. > :28:17.awesome performance from your team- mates. Yes, and they did what was

:28:17. > :28:23.asked. I am so glad I committed to the break. I did not know whether I

:28:23. > :28:28.should. I am happy, I should have jumped earlier, but never mind.

:28:28. > :28:36.could not have done well. We saw the effort you put him, he rode

:28:36. > :28:40.hard in the break. Yes, I saw in the men's race, the fast roads

:28:40. > :28:47.coming in, but once you have got a committed group, it is hard for the

:28:47. > :28:52.ones in the back, so I went with it. Of course, you stuck right on her

:28:52. > :28:58.tail, she is a fantastic competitor. She was the one to watch, and I

:28:58. > :29:03.knew that. I was following her around. We got in a break early,

:29:03. > :29:08.but I thought it was too early, so I played the tactic and I waited.

:29:08. > :29:12.There was great support, I saw your grandmother, what has it felt like

:29:12. > :29:19.to have that kind of support? the most special thing I have ever

:29:19. > :29:28.experienced. It was crazy, it was so inspiring. I could not feel my

:29:28. > :29:33.legs. Many congratulations. Thank you!

:29:33. > :29:37.Congratulations, Lizzie Armitstead. The first medal for Great Britain.

:29:37. > :29:42.She did not have what was needed to take Marianne Vos to was the line,

:29:42. > :29:47.but Marianne Vos was the favourite, she is a wonderful all-rounder. She

:29:47. > :29:52.won a medal four years ago on the track. She held off Lizzie

:29:52. > :29:56.Armitstead. She said she should have gone earlier, but she did

:29:56. > :30:01.wonderfully well. Congratulations to Lizzie Armitstead, wonderful

:30:01. > :30:06.scenes here. Even though it is raining, everybody was gathered

:30:06. > :30:11.around the big screen. Just a wonderful emotional moment. Exactly

:30:11. > :30:15.40 years ago, the first medal in Beijing came in this race, the same

:30:15. > :30:22.thing happened four years later, and it was raining then as well. I

:30:23. > :30:30.am sure that has not dampened the spirits on The Mall. Let's talk

:30:30. > :30:36.about what the emotions were like down there. It was absolutely

:30:36. > :30:43.incredible, when they went through the one kilometre mark, you could

:30:43. > :30:46.here huge cheering and everybody willing her on. For her, a superb

:30:46. > :30:50.tactical race. She did the right thing by sitting on the wheel and

:30:50. > :30:56.waiting for her to go. Give us an idea of how Lizzie Armitstead's

:30:56. > :31:02.life will change. She is only 23, she did not own a bike until she

:31:02. > :31:09.was 16. It will change in terms of people stopping her in the street

:31:09. > :31:12.and wanting to talk to her. I have been tracking her on Twitter,

:31:12. > :31:20.watching her father was go up by hundreds, the further she got into

:31:20. > :31:24.the race -- perform was go up. For cycling, they have laid down a

:31:24. > :31:29.medal, and it will give the rest of the team confidence. It feels we

:31:29. > :31:36.have got started. Marianne Vos making sure she kept hold of the

:31:36. > :31:40.gold medal. Any disappointment that it was not the gold medal? Lots of

:31:40. > :31:46.people would have loved it, but in reality, Marianne Vos was the

:31:46. > :31:50.favourite. She was the strongest. She had a very strong team around

:31:50. > :31:55.her, Ellen van Dijk was making a tax to try to make sure that she

:31:55. > :31:59.got into a good position. It was the result that was expected, but

:31:59. > :32:03.Lizzie Armitstead could not have done well. We still have plenty of

:32:03. > :32:09.cycling to come, the time trials, high hopes for that, and we have

:32:09. > :32:16.not even got going in the velodrome. Develop drome is where we are

:32:16. > :32:19.looking to get a stack of medals. - - feather trim. It will be

:32:19. > :32:24.interesting to see if Bradley Wiggins has got his legs in good

:32:24. > :32:28.shape, but it is another day. What would be good if we could have some

:32:28. > :32:35.sort of control over the weather. It was miserable today. In the

:32:35. > :32:44.final, to, thunder and lightning, and you could barely see. -- in the

:32:44. > :32:48.final kilometre. What made the difference? Marianne Vos got up

:32:48. > :32:52.early to make sure that she cycled the last kilometre before there was

:32:52. > :32:57.any traffic on the streets of London, perhaps that was what made

:32:57. > :33:03.the difference, but it is a gold medal can -- gold medal,

:33:03. > :33:12.congratulations to her. Many congratulations, how does it

:33:12. > :33:22.feel? I was a little nervous, but we gave everything in the breakaway.

:33:22. > :33:28.Amazing crowds. It is The Mall, it is a wall of noise. It is a sprint

:33:28. > :33:34.until the line. Lizzie did a good job on the break. She had a good

:33:34. > :33:38.sprint. But I am really happy. have had an amazing season, and

:33:38. > :33:44.over the years, you have got the full house, you have been a Olympic

:33:44. > :33:50.champion on the track, but how special is this? After Beijing,

:33:50. > :33:55.this is what I have had in mind for four years. Now it has happened, it

:33:55. > :34:00.is incredible. Congratulations. Well done, and

:34:00. > :34:06.congratulations should go to Olga Zabelinskaya, heavily involved, she

:34:06. > :34:10.led the initial break away, and she picked up a bronze medal. Let's

:34:10. > :34:20.hear from the British coach. Congratulations, an amazing

:34:20. > :34:21.

:34:21. > :34:27.performance. She could not have It was a perfect race. Credit to

:34:27. > :34:34.her, it was a magnificent race by the Lizzie Armitstead. She deserves

:34:34. > :34:38.it, she has worked so hard over so many years. I am very happy for her.

:34:39. > :34:45.To see the British cycling team report their first medal of the

:34:45. > :34:50.Games, it must be very special for the whole team. Absolutely.

:34:50. > :34:55.Yesterday didn't quite work out so we wanted to bounce back today and

:34:55. > :35:02.that is exactly what the team did. Credit to them. Everybody played

:35:02. > :35:07.their part. We thought it might come down to a bunch sprint, but

:35:07. > :35:12.they adapted to the situation on the road. The nature of the women's

:35:12. > :35:17.race is very different from the men's race. Mark was our plan

:35:17. > :35:22.yesterday. There were various ways it could pan out. She took the

:35:22. > :35:27.initiative and it panned out. You have got to take constant decisions

:35:27. > :35:32.about the outcome and that is what she did today. Or against a great

:35:32. > :35:40.champion in Marianne Vos. I don't think anybody can beat her in this

:35:40. > :35:45.race. She was phenomenal today, very strong. Credit to her. They

:35:45. > :35:52.did it in torrential rain, in tough circumstances and you have just got

:35:52. > :35:57.to be pleased for them. Well done. The brains behind the brilliance of

:35:57. > :36:02.British cycling, but it is not just about riding on neurone, you need

:36:02. > :36:07.your team mate despite the fact that Lizzie Armitstead spent much

:36:07. > :36:17.of that race riding on her own. Let's hear from Nicole Cooke, who

:36:17. > :36:17.

:36:17. > :36:22.was part of that brilliant effort. Nicole, here we are. No gold medal

:36:23. > :36:28.for you today, but the silver medal for the team. How does that feel?

:36:28. > :36:34.It feels great. We came in here with a serious chance than we did

:36:34. > :36:39.it so it is really great. Lizzie Armitstead did a brilliant ride. We

:36:39. > :36:46.were backing her, but she didn't need it. We have continued our

:36:46. > :36:52.success. It was that decisive break at Box Hill. At one point you

:36:52. > :36:59.seemed to be off the pack. Was that mechanical? I just missed going

:36:59. > :37:04.around the corner, which was pretty stupid, but I got back, drama over.

:37:04. > :37:09.The yesterday when the break when to way, the British fans hoping it

:37:09. > :37:15.would come back. A very different emotion here. What was happening in

:37:15. > :37:20.the chasing group? We knew we didn't have all-out sprinters so we

:37:20. > :37:28.were the opposite of the men's strategy for yesterday. Emma Pooley

:37:29. > :37:34.and myself were at the front marking the riders chasing. We saw

:37:34. > :37:39.the Germans working, and that is how it is. You are there waiting

:37:39. > :37:45.for the race to develop, and all we could do was to save our energy and

:37:45. > :37:54.be ready if it did come back. Then it would be over to us and we would

:37:54. > :38:01.have taken the attack. Well done today.

:38:01. > :38:05.She was primed, but it wasn't to be. Well done. Am afraid to say I am

:38:05. > :38:10.going to have to puncture the moods like you with some less positive

:38:10. > :38:16.mood. A statement has been released by Paula Radcliffe, a long

:38:16. > :38:21.statement, but the main point is that she will not be competing. She

:38:21. > :38:27.said "from the day it was announced London have won the Olympic bid, it

:38:27. > :38:37.was a major goal in my life. I have been through the mail emotionally

:38:37. > :38:42.and physically the last few weeks, and tried every direction and

:38:42. > :38:47.avenue available to heal myself. Already London is showing the world

:38:47. > :38:52.that the Olympic Games will be one hell of a show. For the details on

:38:52. > :39:00.my foot, the joint is degenerative and badly damaged, the same joint I

:39:00. > :39:10.was told in 1994 that I would never run on again. They will recover,

:39:10. > :39:20.

:39:20. > :39:30.unfortunately though it is not This is a special moment, Olympic

:39:30. > :39:30.

:39:30. > :39:35.glory and Olympic history. This was the first American athlete to win a

:39:35. > :39:40.medal in individual events that five consecutive Olympics. Let's

:39:40. > :39:45.hope she enjoys the celebration a little more than four years ago

:39:45. > :39:50.because in Beijing she had heard on stolen after winning the medal.

:39:50. > :39:56.Let's catch up with what else has been happening. It has been wet in

:39:56. > :40:02.London for the cycling, probably as wet as it is for Ben Ainslie.

:40:02. > :40:06.Shirley Robertson was watching. It has been pretty wet here. Ben

:40:06. > :40:14.finished the day with two seconds but it has been the same man ahead

:40:14. > :40:18.of him in both races. Danish man Kristian Cern. I spoke to Ben

:40:18. > :40:23.briefly after the second race and he was pretty happy. It was a great

:40:24. > :40:28.start, very consistent, and that is exactly what he was hoping for.

:40:28. > :40:35.Behind me, they are coming up for the first rounding on their second

:40:35. > :40:41.race. It certainly put the fire in the belly of Iain Percy and Andrew

:40:41. > :40:47.Simpson, currently in second place. I am keen to see where they finish

:40:47. > :40:52.when they come around the top mark. Iain Percy and Andrew Simpson, I

:40:52. > :40:55.imagine they have plenty of support behind them, being defending

:40:55. > :41:02.behind them, being defending Olympic champions. Yes, and they

:41:02. > :41:07.are both really popular within the team. Following the youngsters go

:41:07. > :41:11.to Iain Percy for advice. They are very experienced, and of course

:41:11. > :41:21.great friends. They will be disappointed with the start in the

:41:21. > :41:22.

:41:22. > :41:27.first race. You always want to come out and get one. They led the fleet

:41:27. > :41:34.away and I think they will be second. I will let everybody know

:41:34. > :41:44.that if they would like to join you, they can do so via the red button

:41:44. > :41:45.

:41:45. > :41:55.This afternoon, we didn't miss the big moment, the great moment for

:41:55. > :42:03.

:42:03. > :42:09.Great Britain. Exactly as it was in table with eight medals so far,

:42:09. > :42:19.including five gold medals, but we are in 11th place and I think we

:42:19. > :42:19.

:42:19. > :42:22.will win plenty more. This is what has been happening today, on day 2.

:42:22. > :42:27.Congratulations to Lizzie Armitstead, she got the medalled

:42:27. > :42:34.charged under way for Great Britain, taking silver in the women's road

:42:34. > :42:41.race. Defending Olympic champion Zac Purchase and Mark Hunter won of

:42:41. > :42:45.their race ahead of New Zealand to make the semi-finals. Paula

:42:45. > :42:52.Radcliffe Spotakova dream of competing is over after a foot

:42:52. > :42:57.injury forced her to withdraw from the women's marathon. Rebecca

:42:57. > :43:02.Adlington will defend her 400m freestyle crown in the Aquatics

:43:02. > :43:09.Centre, but she was the slowest qualifier for the final. That

:43:09. > :43:14.happens at 8:15pm, I suggest you don't miss it.

:43:14. > :43:20.Two gold medals in one Olympic Games... Rebecca Adlington, you are

:43:20. > :43:25.absolutely brilliant. I had coached over 30 years and I had never

:43:25. > :43:33.coached anyone with the drive that Rebecca has got. I have definitely

:43:33. > :43:39.learnt more from my not so good swims than I have from my best ones.

:43:39. > :43:46.She has the ability to push herself to the limit day-in, day-out.

:43:46. > :43:51.athlete, you want to keep improving, you want to get faster. Anybody can

:43:52. > :43:59.do absolutely anything at the Olympics. Nobody expected me to do

:43:59. > :44:07.what I did at Beijing. There will be upsets, highways, everything.

:44:07. > :44:11.That is a whole point of the Olympics. I hope we see her smile

:44:11. > :44:17.this evening. She made it clear she wanted to enjoy herself after

:44:17. > :44:26.Beijing. She is back in form, she had a wonderful world meet. Let's

:44:26. > :44:32.hope she can pick up her medal. 8:15pm on BBC One. I will be on BBC

:44:32. > :44:42.Three because it is the men's team taking on the United Emirates so

:44:42. > :44:55.

:45:59. > :46:06.We will broadcast daily highlights on the BBC HD Channel. London 2012

:46:06. > :46:11.on the BBC. We have got the Olympic Games covered. There is only one

:46:11. > :46:17.person to watch for the next few hours, Sue Barker, who has turned

:46:17. > :46:25.up wearing black and white. At least you have silver buttons.

:46:25. > :46:31.was terrific, wasn't it? Were you watching? Yes, we were screaming.

:46:31. > :46:34.It was so exciting, and it will take the pressure off in a way

:46:34. > :46:39.because after yesterday and Mark Cavendish are not getting a medal,

:46:39. > :46:44.everybody wanted a medal for the British team. To go back to the

:46:44. > :46:50.Olympic village, it is a feel-good factor. It says we have a lot of

:46:50. > :46:55.strength and depth in the cycling. We didn't get a medal yesterday,

:46:55. > :47:00.but we did today, and British cycling went into schools, finding

:47:00. > :47:10.young talent. They decided to take that talent and turn them into

:47:10. > :47:10.

:47:10. > :47:17.global superstars and that system has worked. Lizzio -- Lizzie

:47:17. > :47:25.Armitstead is a great talent. This venue is great for the sport,

:47:25. > :47:32.isn't it? I hope you have a bicycle and a helmet. I do, but I don't go

:47:32. > :47:36.up many hills. I'd just go around the country lanes. It is absolutely

:47:36. > :47:41.terrific for Lizzie Armitstead and for the cycling team. I know you

:47:41. > :47:48.will be head of cycling down at the Velodrome. Be sure that we have the

:47:48. > :47:53.time trial as well so we will see Bradley Wiggins, and others in the

:47:53. > :48:00.time-trial. I hope you deliver some more medals later. We will be

:48:00. > :48:06.trying our best. Time for Jake to say goodbye. I am taking over and

:48:06. > :48:16.this is what is coming up in the next few hours. First we have

:48:16. > :48:16.

:48:16. > :48:59.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 56 seconds

:48:59. > :49:03.synchronised diving. We move to BBC at 4:12pm. First, we are heading to

:49:03. > :49:09.the Aquatics Centre, where 17-year- old Rebecca Gallantree, and Alicia

:49:09. > :49:19.Blagg, who is just 15, are representing Great Britain in the

:49:19. > :49:27.

:49:27. > :49:33.for the men, and two for the women. The three-metre springboard. And

:49:34. > :49:36.ten-metre platform. Unlike the individual event, there are no

:49:36. > :49:43.preliminaries or semi-finals. The competition will be completed in

:49:43. > :49:49.one final round, contested by eight teams. The synchronised springboard

:49:49. > :49:55.diving, two adjacent boards are used, one for each diver. Each

:49:55. > :50:01.board stands three metres above the pool's surface. Measuring 4.8

:50:01. > :50:05.metres long and 50 centimetres wide. From the diving tower competitors

:50:05. > :50:09.will dive side by side from the same ten-metre platform. This is

:50:09. > :50:17.equivalent to the height of two double-decker buses. This surface

:50:17. > :50:21.is six metres long and three metres wide. During the course of a dive

:50:21. > :50:29.from the platform, divers can reach speeds of up to 40 mph before they

:50:29. > :50:39.hit the water. If you would like to get involved in Olympic sports, go

:50:39. > :50:46.

:50:46. > :50:52.studio to the Aquatics Centre. This is the first diving gold to be one.

:50:52. > :50:57.The overwhelming favourites are the Chinese pair, Wu and He, who are

:50:57. > :51:01.unbeaten in two years. China won seven of the eight diving golds in

:51:01. > :51:07.Beijing and field a very strong team here. There are the Brits.

:51:07. > :51:17.Plenty of support for them. Let's talk -- Let's Join our commentators,

:51:17. > :51:29.

:51:30. > :51:32.Italian pair. Always tricky opening up a contest, the first dive.

:51:32. > :51:35.Unlike the World Championships, there's no preliminaries to get rid

:51:35. > :51:40.of the heebie-jeebies, but the Italian girls looking pretty

:51:40. > :51:50.steadfast. Maybe Francesca closest to us hitting the water a fraction

:51:50. > :52:07.

:52:07. > :52:17.ahead of Cagnotto. It's a good are doing well in that pool so far,

:52:17. > :52:34.

:52:34. > :52:39.can they replicate that with the pair. That is the magic of

:52:39. > :52:43.synchronised diving. We are not telepathic. We do use counting or

:52:43. > :52:48.various signals in order to take off. Touching the toes at the same

:52:48. > :52:51.time, arms moved back to the water. Please remember, the judges do not

:52:52. > :52:57.get to see this. The marks are already into the computer and will

:52:57. > :53:07.be appearing on your screen shortly. The Australian coaches like it. I'm

:53:07. > :53:31.

:53:31. > :53:37.sure the girls will be pleased with limited degree of difficulty. So

:53:37. > :53:47.important that you are not trying too hard. The judge awarded the

:53:47. > :53:58.

:53:58. > :54:08.marks for Chris Ball, aesthetic That takes their total to the

:54:08. > :54:32.

:54:32. > :54:41.Blagg and Rebecca Gallantree. They the home favourites. That is Alicia

:54:41. > :54:51.Blagg's mum there. Let's see how they did. It is very good synchro.

:54:51. > :54:58.

:54:58. > :55:08.Rebecca hitting the water the Chinese, but that's a solid

:55:08. > :55:27.

:55:27. > :55:33.start for the British pair. For two support here for them. They are

:55:33. > :55:36.rocking and rolling in the pool. The jump team probably aren't

:55:36. > :55:46.anywhere near as strong as the swim team, but they are opening their

:55:46. > :55:46.

:55:46. > :56:30.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 56 seconds

:56:30. > :56:35.will be looking to get their first diving medal. This is a strong

:56:35. > :56:41.event for them. Emilie Heymans in her fourth Olympic Games, medals in

:56:41. > :56:51.the previous three. Jennifer Abel, 10 years younger than Emilie

:56:51. > :57:16.

:57:16. > :57:18.Heymans. That's a nice start for agree with me there was a bit of a

:57:18. > :57:28.mismatch coming into the her doorstep there. It looked like they

:57:28. > :57:30.

:57:30. > :57:40.would be well out of time but ended ended up bouquet but I'm not sure

:57:40. > :58:15.

:58:15. > :58:19.what to make of that. -- ended up The judges are looking for the

:58:19. > :58:22.divers to be completely in line. I'm sure the replay will show that

:58:22. > :58:32.one of the divers were slightly further away from the diving board,

:58:32. > :58:32.

:58:32. > :59:52.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 56 seconds

:59:53. > :00:02.synchronised three-metre macro -- They are certainly going to be in

:00:03. > :00:15.

:00:15. > :00:25.of the dive beautifully. Cagnotto's father competed years ago and won a

:00:25. > :00:48.

:00:48. > :00:58.from his synchronisation point of view. Throwing up a bit too much

:00:58. > :01:10.

:01:10. > :01:20.spread the air they are taking down with them with their hands in order

:01:20. > :01:40.

:01:40. > :01:50.to get the suction. The execution An interesting choice of dive. It's

:01:50. > :01:53.

:01:53. > :01:59.a bit more complicated than some of seen from this Chinese pair. That

:01:59. > :02:04.means it gives the other pairs a chance to stay with them. All

:02:04. > :02:11.changes will happen from round three when they are limited degree

:02:11. > :02:21.of difficulty rounds kick in. does open the door slightly for the

:02:21. > :02:35.

:02:35. > :02:39.good entry into the water. I think Rebecca Gallantree just Ben's at

:02:39. > :02:43.the hip as she enters the water, giving the impression she wasn't

:02:43. > :02:53.vertical. Until their hands touched the water, this had nine written

:02:53. > :03:30.

:03:30. > :03:40.all over it. Synchronisation is training. They are certainly

:03:40. > :03:48.

:03:48. > :03:52.holding the kind of form they were about consistency. Some funny arm

:03:52. > :04:02.movements but there we go. Up over the top. I think they will get some

:04:02. > :04:30.

:04:30. > :04:33.nines for that one. They do, they there. Bob Barber looking at me

:04:33. > :04:39.quizzically. I'm not sure how they were approaching the end of the

:04:39. > :04:46.diving board. As we can see on the replay, into the pike shape,

:04:46. > :04:50.marginally out of time. The entry to the water has good alignment.

:04:50. > :04:55.Jennifer moving very close towards Emilie Heymans. Trying to hold

:04:55. > :04:59.hands, almost. One of heart -- well done, Jennifer, you did well to

:04:59. > :05:09.hold that. That could have been a lot worse. The Canadians still in

:05:09. > :05:19.it. Can I call it a scruffy die if? -- a scruffy dive? He didn't look

:05:19. > :05:30.

:05:30. > :05:37.water to make sure they do not slip when they are up in the shapes.

:05:37. > :05:40.There is a half twist. Into the pike position. The Malaysia and

:05:40. > :05:47.probably a bit off the pace. I wouldn't be surprised if they are

:05:47. > :05:53.towards the bottom of the field -- the Malaysians. Looking back at the

:05:53. > :05:58.scoreboard they will see what you see on your screen. A bit of a

:05:58. > :06:08.shake of the head. Not quite going how they planned. These girls need

:06:08. > :06:15.

:06:15. > :06:25.hurdle step seemed to be out of time. Managing to get it together

:06:25. > :06:34.

:06:34. > :06:44.in the end. Let's look at the synchronisation. -- eat maybe. They

:06:44. > :06:55.

:06:55. > :07:05.will be towards the bottom of the round. Australia surprisingly a

:07:05. > :07:17.

:07:17. > :07:27.long way down, but three more difficult. The difficulty goes up

:07:27. > :07:53.

:07:53. > :07:59.to 3.0. The third round dive of the starts. That is a fantastic opening

:07:59. > :08:05.optional dive. This is where the big guns come out, and in the

:08:05. > :08:08.female springboard event, that means two and a half pikes, a 3.0.

:08:08. > :08:14.Beautiful entry into the water, finishing lower than you would hope,

:08:14. > :08:24.a little bit arching. But the entry into the water is good and the

:08:24. > :08:29.

:08:29. > :08:39.lift them up the table a little bit. The Australians with their big dive

:08:39. > :09:02.

:09:02. > :09:07.and that probably won't help. Standing backwards, but having to

:09:07. > :09:10.spin forwards towards the diving board is dangerous because your

:09:10. > :09:16.toes can come a little bit closer. I'm pleased to say they both

:09:16. > :09:19.cleared the board. Going over the vertical as she goes in and the

:09:19. > :09:29.synchronisation is very good. I don't think they will get more than

:09:29. > :09:40.

:09:40. > :09:50.eight and a need to do better than going for her third title in the

:09:50. > :09:59.

:09:59. > :10:09.dominance. A bit of flag-waving from their team-mates. The replay

:10:09. > :10:18.

:10:18. > :10:28.will show just how good this level and synchronising

:10:28. > :10:35.

:10:35. > :10:45.favourites. The first of their really big guys for Alyssia black

:10:45. > :10:52.

:10:52. > :10:56.and Rebecca Gallantree. -- really programme, and that might have let

:10:56. > :10:59.them down. It was the reserve of two and a half which means landing

:10:59. > :11:04.on the end of the board, jumping up and away from the board and

:11:04. > :11:08.spinning backwards towards it. The girl in beautiful synchronisation.

:11:08. > :11:14.Rebecca just letting go of the shape a bit early and landing short

:11:14. > :11:18.of the vertical. It is a shame, because the synchronisation is good.

:11:18. > :11:28.Tom Daley showing with his expression what I am telling you.

:11:28. > :11:29.

:11:29. > :11:39.And the marks will indicate all of couple of places and actually might

:11:39. > :11:52.

:11:52. > :11:56.mean them dropping to the bottom of will certainly be in the hunt if

:11:56. > :12:06.they carry on with this consistent performance. I was watching them in

:12:06. > :12:14.

:12:14. > :12:20.training and I have been impressed. synchro which will put them in with

:12:20. > :12:28.the front-runners. Up above the Italians and Australians and into

:12:28. > :12:38.second go Kelci Bryant and Abigail Johnston. Now the Canadian pair are

:12:38. > :12:53.

:12:53. > :12:57.absolutely nailed her back to and a half pikes. Emilie Heymans was good.

:12:57. > :13:02.Let's look on the replay. I was distracted by the execution from

:13:02. > :13:05.Jennifer which was exceptional. Synchronisation a little bit off,

:13:05. > :13:11.spinning out different sides. Entering the water OK so the judges

:13:11. > :13:21.might go with them. They might get 7.5 or eight for synchro and the

:13:21. > :13:55.

:13:55. > :14:02.entry into the water with both divers over rotating. Heating the

:14:02. > :14:08.water vertically is what the judges are looking for, but as you see,

:14:08. > :14:12.over a rotating. The Sheens hitting the water -- their shins hitting

:14:12. > :14:18.the water. Not enough to get your surfboards out with a little tired,

:14:18. > :14:24.but there you go. Quite far behind when the marks,. Now there really

:14:24. > :14:34.got going today and the scores are for sore eyes. -- they never really

:14:34. > :14:50.

:14:50. > :14:57.spectacular, but that will keep them where they were after the

:14:57. > :15:00.first two rounds and maybe move them up a place. Swinging the arms,

:15:00. > :15:07.bending the knees, reaching up, looking for the elevation to swing

:15:07. > :15:17.into the back road -- backward at 2.5. A bit of splash from both live

:15:17. > :15:21.

:15:21. > :15:31.eyes. Doesn't really do them a good deal of good in terms of moving

:15:31. > :15:32.

:15:32. > :15:41.position. Not really in medal contention. So, we are three-fifths

:15:41. > :15:44.of the way through. China leading, but changes behind them. Great

:15:44. > :15:54.Britain's challenge may have faltered somewhat with their third-

:15:54. > :16:20.

:16:20. > :16:24.women's synchronised three-metre normally finish on this and have

:16:24. > :16:30.had difficulty in training and electing to put it in earlier in

:16:30. > :16:35.their programme. Landing on the end of the board, a little bit back

:16:35. > :16:40.from the end and not very much spring. She was struggling a bit to

:16:40. > :16:44.get there dive been in the allotted time. There is the twist, into the

:16:44. > :16:50.water. It is a bit here and there but it will keep them in contention.

:16:50. > :16:55.The synchro marks will be the telling score. In terms of a medal

:16:55. > :17:05.prospect, that might be the end of it. That was not terribly well

:17:05. > :17:21.

:17:21. > :17:27.executed. The Australians also have synchronisation was super. The

:17:27. > :17:34.execution, and this is why it is worth 3.1, was a little bit of.

:17:34. > :17:41.Charlene glans short of vertical. 1, 2, 3. Charlene just short of

:17:41. > :17:45.vertical and I think she will get penalised. Look at this super slow-

:17:45. > :17:55.motion. Look at the expression on the divers face. This is a tough

:17:55. > :18:17.

:18:17. > :18:21.goodness, made. The Italians are opening the door slightly. The

:18:21. > :18:27.Chinese showing they really are a cut above, landing on the edge of

:18:27. > :18:32.the board, in perfect unison. That has got nine written all over it.

:18:32. > :18:36.That could go close to 80 points. Let's see what the judges say. But

:18:36. > :18:45.for me, that is the died of the contest thus far. I could not see

:18:45. > :18:48.much wrong with that. Nines on the right, and 9.5 even once. The

:18:48. > :18:58.synchro judges loved it to bits, which is why China have eight

:18:58. > :18:58.

:18:58. > :19:43.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 56 seconds

:19:43. > :19:53.away from the diving board than in due course. The early stages of

:19:53. > :20:11.

:20:11. > :20:21.have them in my top three but I might have to revisit my top three.

:20:21. > :20:25.

:20:25. > :20:31.judges have got to give them a eights plus for that. Execution a

:20:31. > :20:41.little bit off, but if they are near the 70 point Mark, that will

:20:41. > :21:09.

:21:09. > :21:19.important. They were a little bit off the pace. Emilie Heymans, her

:21:19. > :21:23.

:21:23. > :21:33.fourth Olympic Games. Three medals rotation. A little bit out on the

:21:33. > :21:58.

:21:58. > :22:01.they have to judge on what they see Beautiful entry in the water.

:22:01. > :22:11.They've certainly dug into the bottom of their diving toy box and

:22:11. > :22:29.

:22:29. > :22:39.it's taken a while for them to warm-up, hasn't it? A little

:22:39. > :22:45.

:22:45. > :22:55.running away from a fire then as they made their way down the diving

:22:55. > :23:05.

:23:05. > :23:15.contention, but that is one of Finishing a bit low on to the water

:23:15. > :23:28.

:23:28. > :23:36.more in terms of the competitors, here we are with the fourth round

:23:36. > :23:46.standings. Not much between two and five. The Australians have a chance

:23:46. > :23:52.

:23:52. > :24:02.to sneak back in there. Great Women's synchronised threem

:24:02. > :24:28.

:24:28. > :24:38.responded with a big enough dive? The synchronisation was good,

:24:38. > :24:51.

:24:51. > :25:01.the diving score. It hasn't come up as yet. We might have a little

:25:01. > :25:36.

:25:36. > :25:40.on. It is normally their best dive but I'm pretty sure they will be

:25:40. > :25:50.disappointed with their overall performance to date. Good

:25:50. > :25:55.

:25:55. > :26:05.synchronisation but both over from really go with that. Squeezing in a

:26:05. > :26:09.

:26:09. > :26:12.valiant effort, but they were a calculations to be done that the

:26:12. > :26:17.new scoring system, I think the computer might be struggling a

:26:17. > :26:27.little bit. That puts Australia into second place behind the

:26:27. > :26:27.

:26:27. > :27:24.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 56 seconds

:27:24. > :27:31.room for anyone to get anywhere gone 9.5. They know the job is well

:27:31. > :27:41.and truly done. They take their total up to three of the and 46.20.

:27:41. > :28:16.

:28:16. > :28:21.her final dive. -- Pellissier. There's nothing you can do, there's

:28:21. > :28:31.no magic rewind button. The take- off is good, squeezing into the

:28:31. > :28:33.

:28:33. > :28:43.Pike shape. Rebecca's dive is a of your Pike shape. Frustrating,

:28:43. > :28:46.

:28:46. > :28:56.but a valiant effort for the girls mediocre jump. It will probably

:28:56. > :29:29.

:29:29. > :29:39.mean they are battling it out with going to be the US on the podium. I

:29:39. > :29:58.

:29:58. > :30:08.didn't see it coming. They have They will definitely be in front of

:30:08. > :30:15.

:30:15. > :30:25.moment, but it is not yet cast in silver. We have Jennifer Abel and

:30:25. > :30:44.

:30:44. > :30:47.responded? They are a bit off their game today. That's going to be

:30:47. > :30:57.close. It may be good enough to take out the Italians, but is it

:30:57. > :31:15.

:31:15. > :31:25.Yes, they have snuck into third place and put the Italians down to

:31:25. > :31:59.

:31:59. > :32:04.four. They've done it by just over office. Not in the kind of form

:32:04. > :32:14.that got them the qualification for this top eight only straight

:32:14. > :32:14.

:32:14. > :33:08.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 56 seconds

:33:08. > :33:18.their best, and they didn't really way back from the end of the diving

:33:18. > :33:45.

:33:45. > :33:51.board. There isn't much spring on through them do not count towards

:33:51. > :33:59.their total score. May be a bonus medal for the USA here. Look how

:33:59. > :34:06.excited they are. The American team at the very, very happy. They did

:34:06. > :34:11.finish some 25 points behind China, but they did finish five points

:34:11. > :34:15.ahead of Canada. There is always the USA and Canada rivalry,

:34:15. > :34:20.antedate the Americans got the measure of the maple leaf. Emilie

:34:20. > :34:24.Heymans, her 4th Olympic medal at her 4th Olympic Games. That is

:34:24. > :34:30.incredible. The first woman in the history of the sport of diving off

:34:31. > :34:34.to ever do that. China won all but one gold medal in Beijing. Matthew

:34:34. > :34:44.Mitcham stopping that run of four years ago. And they are off and

:34:44. > :34:53.

:34:53. > :34:56.running again. Wu Minxia and He Zi A good performance from the

:34:56. > :35:03.youngsters, finishing second. I am sure they will learn from the

:35:03. > :35:06.experience. Let's hear from them. Aged just 15, Alicia Blagg is one

:35:06. > :35:10.of the youngest members of Team GB, in fact the youngest member of the

:35:10. > :35:16.diving squad. Many congratulations to you both. What was going through

:35:16. > :35:19.your mind as you step on the board? It was overwhelming. The crowd in

:35:20. > :35:23.here is incredible. They were behind us all away and it has been

:35:23. > :35:30.the most amazing experience of my life. Tha I enjoyed every minute of

:35:30. > :35:36.it. Even though it didn't go right, that will never happen again and

:35:36. > :35:43.I'm just proud to be here. You were in 4th place after the second round.

:35:43. > :35:48.Oh, I dunno! I didn't know. Your mum sends you a text, to say you

:35:48. > :35:52.were in the team, did she come here today? Yeah so, I got that text at

:35:52. > :35:57.school and it was incredible. Can you sum up the experience? Mind-

:35:57. > :36:06.blowing. Incredible. I don't even have the words to say how amazing

:36:06. > :36:12.it was. Thank you to everyone, all my family and friends. Rebecca, you

:36:12. > :36:18.know her well because you spotted her during a school trip. We got

:36:18. > :36:22.her from a talent identification scheme. I was part of the team that

:36:22. > :36:25.picked her up, so that is pretty cool. You got a big cheer as you

:36:25. > :36:30.step on the board and also as you came to do the interview. Some of

:36:30. > :36:36.what it was like before month in front of a home crowd. -- sum up

:36:36. > :36:40.what it was like. Absolutely incredible. Mind-blowing. It was

:36:40. > :36:42.feeling so great to have everybody support, so thank you so much.

:36:43. > :36:46.bet you what pinching yourself that you have competed with some of the

:36:46. > :36:51.best in the world. It is hard to believe. All over now, we are

:36:51. > :36:57.finished, and I'm upset the we finish there. We just enjoy the

:36:57. > :37:00.games? Yes, I will see as many sports as I can. Rebecca you have

:37:00. > :37:05.the individual on Tuesday to concentrate on. I am really looking

:37:05. > :37:10.forward to it. It should be great. A you have made the whole of Leeds

:37:10. > :37:20.and a whole of the UK at -- today. Your boyfriend said it was the

:37:20. > :37:20.

:37:20. > :37:25.They have a lot to be proud of. The first goal for China in the diving,

:37:25. > :37:30.their 6th overall, and they top the table ahead of the US and Italy.

:37:30. > :37:33.China could get another because they are favourite in the men's 10

:37:33. > :37:37.metres synchro final, which will be the first glimpse of Tom Daley. All

:37:37. > :37:41.eyes will be on the 18-year-old who has been one of the poster boys of

:37:41. > :37:46.the Games. He competes alongside Pete Waterfield who won a silver

:37:46. > :37:50.eight years ago. These two need to match each other, but they are an

:37:50. > :38:00.odd couple. An age difference of 13 years, three difference in height

:38:00. > :38:08.

:38:08. > :38:13.and a train 150 miles apart. But it When I was 10 I watched the first

:38:13. > :38:23.Olympic Games eyesore, and I saw them of winning a silver medal in

:38:23. > :38:24.

:38:25. > :38:29.Athens, and then I wanted to go to Tom in Beijing was with a different

:38:29. > :38:34.partner and he was quite young men, and still developing. He wasn't

:38:34. > :38:39.quite strong enough to dive next to me at the time. Then he grew, got a

:38:39. > :38:43.lot stronger and when we got together it worked kind of straight

:38:43. > :38:47.away. I was really nervous last time I was diving with Pete. It was

:38:47. > :38:52.one of those things where I really wanted it to work and be something

:38:52. > :38:56.special, and then to go into London 2012 and to compete with Pete is

:38:56. > :39:01.pretty surreal. The only difference is the age gap. He is bigger than

:39:01. > :39:07.me, but most people are, to be honest. Outside of the swimming

:39:07. > :39:12.pool, we were always together, whereas Tom was a bit younger and I

:39:12. > :39:16.do not want to see cramp his style. Everybody says that Tom Daley can

:39:17. > :39:23.draw a lot from me and learn, but when they say that I say, do you

:39:24. > :39:27.know what, I learned a lot from Tom. We have been coming home with more

:39:27. > :39:31.medals, personal best, British records, so Pete is definitely the

:39:31. > :39:35.right person for me to be diving with and I think we are the right

:39:35. > :39:39.team to beat diving in the London Olympic Games. Obviously China are

:39:39. > :39:43.the top diving nation in any discipline. It is one of those

:39:43. > :39:47.things where everyone is out to get China and it is almost like silver

:39:47. > :39:51.is gold, but the degree of difficulty we have is high in

:39:51. > :39:56.comparison with some of the other teams. It is just about going out

:39:56. > :40:01.there and doing well. To come home with a medal in London 2012 would

:40:01. > :40:05.not only be amazing but would put the icing on the cake for a pretty

:40:06. > :40:12.successful career that I have had. It is such a great opportunity to

:40:12. > :40:15.go out and died in front of a home crowd. If you dive well and get a

:40:15. > :40:23.medal, that is the biggest reward for any athlete but we have done so

:40:23. > :40:32.far. And we wish them well. Tom and Pete will be diving live on BBC One

:40:32. > :40:35.Hopefully it will be another medal tomorrow, because we received a

:40:35. > :40:40.medal today. Lizzie Armitstead became Britain's first medallist of

:40:40. > :40:43.the game. She won the silver medal in a dramatic road race, just

:40:43. > :40:47.missing out on gold, losing to Marianne Vos, the pre-race

:40:47. > :40:57.favourite. A few months ago she proudly stepped onto the podium to

:40:57. > :40:58.

:40:58. > :41:08.receive the medal. Let's enjoy the their sporting life. The moment

:41:08. > :41:10.

:41:10. > :41:20.might co-commentator Chris Boardman enjoyed in Barcelona. The winner of

:41:20. > :41:26.

:41:26. > :41:31.President of the you see I. worked hard for that. She struggled

:41:31. > :41:35.at., but she did not let go. She contributed everything she had. It

:41:35. > :41:40.was a valiant effort. No way was she going to be able to contribute

:41:40. > :41:44.that in the spring, that was going to between this lady, Lizzie

:41:45. > :41:50.Armitstead and Marianne Vos. winner of the silver medal,

:41:50. > :41:55.representing Great Britain, Lizzie Armitstead! She gets a huge ovation.

:41:55. > :42:00.And that male, the first medal to be won by a British competitor in

:42:00. > :42:10.London, could be the catalyst -- that medal could be the catalyst

:42:10. > :42:21.

:42:21. > :42:26.young at Yorkshire lass. But the gold medal winner and Olympic

:42:26. > :42:32.champion, representing the Netherlands, is Marianne Vos. She

:42:32. > :42:37.had the gold medal on the road here and can add it to the one she had

:42:37. > :42:44.on the track in Beijing. One of the most talented female road riders on

:42:44. > :42:54.the planet, and in all disciplines. For the Olympic champion, Marianne

:42:54. > :42:56.

:42:56. > :43:00.Well done to Lizzie Armitstead, the first British medallist of the game.

:43:00. > :43:05.But Tweddle has twice in a world champion, but it was heartbreak for

:43:05. > :43:08.her when she made the slight error on the landing from the bars and it

:43:08. > :43:18.cost her a bronze. She is back the she and she was qualifying earlier

:43:18. > :43:22.

:43:22. > :43:32.today. Let's see her routine in the hand side of the North Greenwich

:43:32. > :43:46.

:43:46. > :43:50.arena for Great Britain's best the very difficult combination. The

:43:50. > :43:58.half turn. She goes for the difficult combination. One last

:43:58. > :44:06.little bit to go. In we come. The big dismount. Double, double.

:44:06. > :44:12.Fantastic work! What about that! She now has the champion to go for

:44:12. > :44:17.Olympic glory. Well, that was absolutely fascinating. It was

:44:17. > :44:23.mesmerising. It was incredible. She mesmerising. It was incredible. She

:44:23. > :44:28.We have to start with your performance on the uneven bars. You

:44:28. > :44:31.lifted the roof of the arena. How did that feel? It was amazing. The

:44:31. > :44:34.past few weeks has been really hard because of the pressure. You want

:44:34. > :44:38.to go in thinking you have no pressure but at the end of the day

:44:38. > :44:43.I would have walked out here disappointed had I not gone clean.

:44:43. > :44:47.When I landed I thought, thank God for that! He you blew everybody

:44:47. > :44:51.else away so far with what we have seen. Just how thrilling was

:44:51. > :44:55.landing about and taking in the crowd afterwards? It was the best

:44:56. > :45:02.feeling in the world. I cannot even put it into words. I'm speechless.

:45:02. > :45:06.I don't know what to say. I've never been short for words usually.

:45:06. > :45:08.The rest of the team, one or two wobbles here and there, but how

:45:08. > :45:16.would you characterise the performance overall, second at the

:45:16. > :45:19.moment? It was amazing. It is hard. It is a home crowd at the Olympics,

:45:19. > :45:24.that added pressure and some mistakes but we call ourselves

:45:24. > :45:27.together and we stepped up the mark. I think on the bars, the team

:45:27. > :45:31.couldn't have done any more. Probably our highest total ever as

:45:32. > :45:36.a team, so you can't ask any more than that. Rebecca, coming into

:45:36. > :45:40.this is the youngest member of Team GB, you went out their first up,

:45:40. > :45:48.what was going through your head? Both we have been ready for the

:45:48. > :45:52.competition for weeks. It was a bit shaky going first, but we were

:45:52. > :45:56.ready for it and we pulled out a good score in the end. Looking good

:45:56. > :46:01.in terms of the all-round final. How proud of your performance today

:46:01. > :46:05.are you? I thought I would do my best and see what happens, and if I

:46:05. > :46:09.make the final, great, if not, it happens. But I'm really happy that

:46:09. > :46:16.I'm in there. Did you watch the men yesterday and takes an inspiration?

:46:16. > :46:21.No, we had to train. We were thinking about some of the added

:46:21. > :46:26.pressure, but we shouldered it. do have to say the American team

:46:26. > :46:30.went around here and absolutely worse Super on so many pieces.

:46:30. > :46:34.Something like 11 points clear. What you do when you look at the

:46:34. > :46:38.scoreboard and see that? We knew they were like that. We don't have

:46:38. > :46:42.a chance of catching them if they have something like 10 falls, that

:46:42. > :46:46.would be the anyway. They have hid the routines every day and I have

:46:46. > :46:51.only seen one mistake in a hole with -- they have hit their

:46:51. > :46:55.routines. They are here for the title. We have two different

:46:55. > :46:58.targets, and we are pleased with our performance. The quickly, you

:46:58. > :47:02.have to be confident of getting something out of the final after

:47:02. > :47:06.that. I have another week to calm down. We have the team final,

:47:06. > :47:11.Oakley, and then we can support the other girls in the all round and

:47:12. > :47:15.see what happens next week -- the team final, obviously. It is the

:47:15. > :47:25.icing on the cake just to make the final now. Well done to you both

:47:25. > :47:25.

:47:25. > :47:30.and good news from Wimbledon. Having lost in the doubles, Andy

:47:31. > :47:37.Murray came through his singles and a tough first round match against

:47:37. > :47:45.Stanislas Wawrinka. But comfortably through in straight sets in front

:47:45. > :47:50.Heather Watson and Flora Robson are in action later and we will also

:47:50. > :47:54.show you Maria Sharapova -- Flora Robson. We are moving over to BBC

:47:55. > :47:58.Two now. Here on the BBC want you can see highlights of the Hungarian

:47:58. > :48:01.Grand Prix. Plenty more coverage from the Olympics to come and we
