:00:57. > :01:01.Welcome back. If you were not what us a moment to go on BBC One, Mr

:01:01. > :01:06.real treat because Chris Hoy was on the top of the podium again after

:01:06. > :01:11.such a courageous run to win the keirin. He bows out of the Olympics

:01:11. > :01:16.now, he will go to the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, but he is leaving

:01:16. > :01:20.with six gold medals and a silver medal. A great champion and a great

:01:20. > :01:27.ambassador for the sport, and a popular man as well. There is

:01:27. > :01:31.plenty of success to talk about. Here are the headlines. We can only

:01:31. > :01:36.start with the great man Sir Chris Hoy, picking up his sixth gold

:01:36. > :01:41.medal to become Britain's most successful Olympian ever. Laura

:01:41. > :01:50.Trott also won gold. There was gold for the dressage team from Great

:01:50. > :01:54.Britain. They were almost impeccable today. Alistair Brownlee

:01:54. > :01:59.was an emphatic winner of the triathlon in Hyde Park, joined on

:01:59. > :02:04.the podium by his brother Jonny Brownlee, who finished in third

:02:04. > :02:08.place. There was more medal success for Great Britain in Weymouth. Nick

:02:08. > :02:13.Dempsey won Silva to make up for the disappointment of finishing in

:02:13. > :02:17.fourth place in Beijing. I'm afraid it was not all good news because

:02:17. > :02:21.Phillips Idowu failed to qualify for the triple jump, he came up

:02:21. > :02:27.short in qualifying this morning so the silver medallist from Beijing

:02:27. > :02:33.is out. The highs and lows of sport, not good news for Phillips Idowu,

:02:33. > :02:38.but the good news is that Britain has nous four 22 gold medals, and

:02:39. > :02:42.South Korea have won just 11. You heard in the headlines that

:02:42. > :02:47.Alistair Brownlee won the gold medal in the triathlon today and

:02:47. > :02:51.his brother got a brave bronze medal because he had to suffer a

:02:51. > :02:59.penalty and crossed the line and collapsed, and had to be taken away

:02:59. > :03:03.by a stretcher. He recovered well to the company his brother on the

:03:03. > :03:07.podium. Congratulations - two medals in

:03:07. > :03:13.triathlon on the same day at home Olympics. How does it feel to have

:03:13. > :03:19.the gold medal around your neck? it is fantastic. They are like

:03:19. > :03:23.buses - and had been waiting all this time, and two come along at

:03:23. > :03:28.once. We were both in great physical shape, we trained hard,

:03:28. > :03:34.and the strength of being in a team. Me and my brother have raced

:03:34. > :03:38.together for years, and we have trained with the one goal of

:03:38. > :03:44.everyone racing here today and getting medals. It has been a

:03:44. > :03:48.fantastic few months. Congratulations Jonny Brownlee,

:03:48. > :03:53.your first Olympic Games and you are on the podium. Yes, I am still

:03:53. > :03:59.pleased for my podium. It was tough day today, I went through a mixture

:03:59. > :04:05.of emotions. I thought it was a dream, then I saw I got a penalty

:04:05. > :04:09.and I thought it was a nightmare, then the dream again. The penalty

:04:09. > :04:14.didn't change things at all. Stewart was amazing today, without

:04:14. > :04:19.him it would have been so much harder. A perfect team and Great

:04:19. > :04:26.Britain has two triathlon medals. You are so much part of this. You

:04:26. > :04:30.might not have a medal, but you are part of those wins. Yes, just to

:04:30. > :04:36.see these two do what they did was fantastic and I take my hat off to

:04:36. > :04:39.them. They deserve everything they get. The crowd was phenomenal.

:04:39. > :04:44.Yorkshire flax as well as Great Britain flags everywhere and you

:04:44. > :04:49.had so much support, didn't you? Yes, we were watching you on

:04:49. > :04:54.television this morning and there were already people lining up

:04:54. > :05:01.outside at 9 o'clock. I don't think we will see a crowd like that again.

:05:01. > :05:05.10 people deep, all around the course. The noise was deafening. We

:05:05. > :05:10.were trying to communicate and we had simple words but you literally

:05:10. > :05:20.could not talk to each other apart from that part across the bridge.

:05:20. > :05:20.

:05:20. > :05:27.The best win of your life? With out I just want to ask you how you are

:05:27. > :05:31.feeling, because you collapsed after the race. Are you OK? Yes.

:05:31. > :05:37.When I crossed the finish line, I think I overheated a bit. But

:05:37. > :05:43.higher OK now. I am fine! When did you hear you have that 15 second

:05:43. > :05:48.penalty, and did you know you had got on your bike too soon? After

:05:48. > :05:55.lap number two on the bike, I saw the board and I saw 31, and at

:05:55. > :05:58.first, I thought it was my brother. And then I realise, it is me! And I

:05:58. > :06:04.thought, what have I done wrong? Apparently, I went out on the bike

:06:04. > :06:07.and my foot was on the line. Apparently, you cannot do that. I

:06:07. > :06:13.thought if you did not mount before the line that was a penalty but on

:06:13. > :06:17.the line or after was a penalty. But that is what happens. It does

:06:17. > :06:21.not change the result anyway. It made it a bit harder. It made it

:06:21. > :06:26.very exciting. Congratulations, you've got a bronze in your first

:06:27. > :06:31.Olympic Games. And your second triathlon medal. Well done. Thank

:06:31. > :06:38.you. If yes. Well done to the Brownlee

:06:38. > :06:43.brothers. Stuart was there to help the Brownlee brothers and take them

:06:43. > :06:47.to the top of the podium. We gave you the news about Nick Dempsey

:06:47. > :06:52.winning silver in the windsurf category in the sailing. We can now

:06:52. > :06:57.see how that medal was won. And if the other British crews could stay

:06:57. > :07:01.on course for more sailing successful stop if more medals here

:07:01. > :07:06.at the sailing today. And Britain's Nick Dempsey, he went

:07:06. > :07:12.out to the metal race in a medal position, just as he had four years

:07:12. > :07:17.before. There, he came ashore with nothing, finishing 4th. Today, he

:07:17. > :07:26.was out to put that right and some big names came to see that happen.

:07:26. > :07:31.David Cameron, Ben Ainslie and the medal-winner from Sunday. A good

:07:31. > :07:35.day today would turn medal optimism into medal reality. So it is all

:07:35. > :07:40.hotting up for the end of the week for Team GB. It looks rather

:07:40. > :07:44.exciting. So far in Weymouth, the British

:07:44. > :07:50.sailors have secured a silver and gold medal, and today, potential

:07:50. > :07:54.for more. In the men's windsurfing class, the title had already been

:07:54. > :07:56.secured by the Flying Dutchman, so that left silver and bronze

:07:57. > :08:03.available and Britain's Nick Dempsey was in a perfect position

:08:03. > :08:09.to strike. The Olympic final is off and begun, Kang Great Britain when

:08:10. > :08:15.Silvia? Four years ago, he suffered a heartbreaker 4th, and this was

:08:15. > :08:19.his chance to lay the ghost of China to rest. At Nick Dempsey in

:08:19. > :08:26.third position, and he pumps his arms to get into second. This was

:08:26. > :08:31.all he needed to upgrade and Athens bronze to a Weymouth still. Nick

:08:31. > :08:40.Dempsey... Broken in Beijing. They promised silver. He has delivered!

:08:40. > :08:44.Nick Dempsey, Great Britain, silver! It has been a pretty

:08:44. > :08:54.difficult four years but I always believed I could come here and do

:08:54. > :08:57.

:08:57. > :09:00.well. Just massively relieved, I An amazing day for spectators as

:09:00. > :09:08.the women's windsurfing final continued the high drama. This was

:09:08. > :09:14.a much tighter class, with seven goals in with a chance of a medal

:09:14. > :09:20.and podium position. That included Bryony Shaw. Potential for silver

:09:20. > :09:23.but it depends how many others in that middle area perform. But the

:09:23. > :09:28.odds were stacked against her as the Spanish sailor came through the

:09:28. > :09:36.fleet to win gold in fine style. As the rest of the girls finished, the

:09:36. > :09:40.points system confirmed a creditable 7th for Bryony Shaw. So,

:09:40. > :09:48.a gold and two Silva has now for the British sailors, and the good

:09:48. > :09:56.news continued in the men's competition. The pressure. On the

:09:56. > :10:06.Australian favourites. -- the pressure up was pushed up on the

:10:06. > :10:07.

:10:07. > :10:12.Australian favourites. They have got it all Toulouse. And the women

:10:12. > :10:18.lies second with just two days to go in the regatta. And the women's

:10:18. > :10:22.match trio still have a chance of making the finals. Well worth a

:10:22. > :10:26.watch. A good day for British sailing, but

:10:26. > :10:30.I have Nick Dempsey with the medal around his neck. That was quite a

:10:30. > :10:39.moment when you make your family and love and Thomas. We have been

:10:39. > :10:44.talking about that. -- when you met. And little Thomas. It was pretty

:10:44. > :10:48.special getting the medal. And putting it around his neck. He was

:10:48. > :10:56.quite happy. I am not sure he was that had the! Not as happy as I

:10:56. > :11:01.would have liked him to be! But I am sure you get home and he will be

:11:01. > :11:05.throwing it around the house! were nervous out there, but

:11:05. > :11:10.watching the race, it was a confident performance. Nerves

:11:10. > :11:16.seemed to leave me once I have won the water. And once I do my

:11:16. > :11:21.starting sequence. Immediately after the start, the race was done

:11:21. > :11:26.and dusted. It was beyond my control. So nerves went out of the

:11:26. > :11:30.window and I just concentrated on finishing the job off. It is hard

:11:30. > :11:35.to forget what it felt like four years ago, but can you put into

:11:35. > :11:39.words what today felt like? Just massively relieved, more than

:11:39. > :11:46.anything. Just such an amazing team and I did not want to let anybody

:11:46. > :11:50.down. I have been talking about it for a long time. An aim to get a

:11:50. > :11:55.gold or silver medal, even a bronze. So to come home with silver is a

:11:55. > :12:00.proud moment. You nearly got into trouble with your celebrations. You

:12:00. > :12:04.let go of the board and John to shore! Yes. The police wanted to

:12:04. > :12:09.search me when I got back! Some of the other officials were a bit

:12:09. > :12:13.upset but there is not much they can do, is there! You seem pretty

:12:13. > :12:22.relaxed a relieved. A special moment. But so much going on this

:12:22. > :12:26.week for the British team. The 470s are doing well? Yes. I will keep

:12:26. > :12:31.the celebrations to a minimum until the whole team has finished. Just

:12:31. > :12:37.amazing. The boys and girls are so excited. And watch the racing

:12:37. > :12:41.tomorrow closely and the girls are still well in it. So it is

:12:41. > :12:46.fantastic for the British team. Incredible to be part of it. A you

:12:47. > :12:51.told me you would not touch anybody else's medal until you got your own.

:12:51. > :12:56.Have you done that now? I have not already seen anyone! But it will be

:12:56. > :13:00.nice to get back to the team and just shared the moment. But, you

:13:00. > :13:06.know, the team is very much still working hard. Still concentrating

:13:06. > :13:12.and we have more medals to win, I hoped. And your wife, what did she

:13:12. > :13:19.say to you? She said, Well done, very proud. Love you lots! She said

:13:19. > :13:23.what you would expect her to say. Again, very happy. And I am very

:13:23. > :13:31.grateful for everything she has done. Well, your little boy is very

:13:31. > :13:36.proud and we are proud of you, too. Lots more action this week. On

:13:36. > :13:41.Thursday, it is a duel for gold and that will be very exciting. And

:13:41. > :13:48.tomorrow, this gives are out. Stevie Morrison and Ben Rhodes, and

:13:48. > :13:52.they are in a great position to bring back a medal.

:13:52. > :13:57.Now, at the velodrome, it was not a fairy-tale ending Victoria

:13:58. > :14:05.Pendleton was hoping for as Ho Olympic career came to an end. She

:14:05. > :14:09.was hoping to be the first Olympic woman to win three medals. She

:14:09. > :14:15.found Anna Meares that her very best. The Australian won the first

:14:15. > :14:19.two races to take the gold, so Vicky had to be happy with silver.

:14:19. > :14:25.But just like Sir Chris Hoy, an inspiration for so many youngsters

:14:25. > :14:29.in this sport. Let's go back to the scene of those medals.

:14:29. > :14:39.And the winner of the silver medal, representing Great Britain,

:14:39. > :14:42.

:14:42. > :14:47.Victoria Pendleton! She gets a huge ovation. So we will

:14:47. > :14:53.not see the iconic figure of Victoria Pendleton again. That is

:14:53. > :15:03.the concluding event of what has been an unbelievable, glittering

:15:03. > :15:05.

:15:05. > :15:10.career. Enjoy your retirement, The winner of the gold medal, the

:15:10. > :15:17.Olympic sprint champion, representing Australia, Anna

:15:17. > :15:23.Meares! And she says the Australian's

:15:23. > :15:27.blushes because that is the only gold medal they have won. -- she

:15:27. > :15:32.saves. They have got a full collection of medals from the

:15:32. > :15:36.competition. She won the bronze in Athens, the silver in Beijing, and

:15:36. > :15:46.finally she achieves the top podium position. Anna Meares of Australia,

:15:46. > :15:48.

:15:48. > :15:58.the winner of the gold medal, the Ladies and gentlemen, please stand

:15:58. > :15:58.

:15:58. > :16:54.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 56 seconds

:16:54. > :16:59.for the national anthem of Ladies and gentlemen, the Olympic

:16:59. > :17:04.medallists. That concludes the ceremonies here in the velodrome.

:17:04. > :17:14.The cycle racing on the track is now concluded and it will resume

:17:14. > :17:15.

:17:15. > :17:24.SUE BARKER: Congratulations to Anna Meares, and, Victoria Pendleton,
