:00:00. > :00:00.There is a British Lion waiting to board that plane and you will be

:00:00. > :00:07.tentative today. You went to get off in good health and get on the

:00:08. > :00:09.flight. It is bound to be on their minds. It simply cannot be anything

:00:10. > :00:29.else. The first scrum. Apologies if you picked up some

:00:30. > :00:36.stray language of an inappropriate nature on the referee's me, I

:00:37. > :00:41.suspect it was. -- referee's microphone. That is another penalty.

:00:42. > :00:49.The first strike to Glasgow in terms of the scrum anyway. I was trying to

:00:50. > :00:53.look at Simon Berghan's position. His shoulders not straight, but they

:00:54. > :01:04.are pulling round. Mike Adamson on the right-hand side. Off we go. It

:01:05. > :01:09.is Bryce again. Speed from Glasgow in defence.

:01:10. > :01:12.Edinburgh have broken the line again. Plenty of adventure from

:01:13. > :01:26.Edinburgh. Duncan Weir was caught on the pass.

:01:27. > :01:27.He could not get it away. A good contest on the ground. I think it

:01:28. > :01:35.was Finn Russell and Duncan Weir. Plenty of possession for Edinburgh.

:01:36. > :01:48.That is encouraging. This time it is a penalty to

:01:49. > :02:02.Edinburgh. I would imagine, with the wind,

:02:03. > :02:10.Duncan Weir will have a notion for this straightaway. He was penalised

:02:11. > :02:17.for going in. He was adjudged to be on his knee, it looked like. Small

:02:18. > :02:22.margins. Just a chance for Edinburgh to get something on the board. A

:02:23. > :02:29.shake of the head from Fraser Brown. On the last attack, there was space

:02:30. > :02:34.on the outside and they carry ball through the middle. For Edinburgh,

:02:35. > :02:38.it is about gaining composure, the ball, and keeping possession and

:02:39. > :02:41.building the phases. They have an attacking threat but the mistakes

:02:42. > :02:54.have counted against them this season. This will be a nine hour for

:02:55. > :03:01.Duncan Weir. -- a nine iron for Duncan. The wind did arrest after he

:03:02. > :03:07.lifted it. That was way over the stand at the back. It will be a

:03:08. > :03:13.factor very much so. In the second half, if it is tighter, then Glasgow

:03:14. > :03:17.certainly have the firepower. Stuart Hogg would fancy one from his own

:03:18. > :03:32.ten yard line. 3-3, one penalty each. No surprise. The game settles

:03:33. > :03:36.down into its rhythm. Edinburgh already showing they are prepared to

:03:37. > :03:44.give the ball some air. This time it is up in the air.

:03:45. > :03:50.Finn Russell, dances inside, a lovely step. He was eventually

:03:51. > :03:55.caught. That was an untidy ball from Glasgow but they have kept it alive.

:03:56. > :04:17.Seymour looking for the ball. This time, the advantage is coming

:04:18. > :04:25.to Edinburgh again. It will be scrum this time, knock-on. Both sides are

:04:26. > :04:29.showing willing. The tackles are coming thick and fast. Not often

:04:30. > :04:38.that you see Chris Fusaro lose the ball in the contact. Hidalgo-Clyne

:04:39. > :04:44.came into CP could dislodge the ball. It was Hardie with the initial

:04:45. > :04:47.tackle. You can see the edge in this game already, with the

:04:48. > :04:50.competitiveness in the tackle, the way the players are driving each

:04:51. > :04:57.other into the ground. Nobody is hanging about. There is one of the

:04:58. > :05:01.stars of the Edinburgh team, Ben Toolis. He has played so well for

:05:02. > :05:07.Edinburgh. He has performed well. Use a target in the line-out. He is

:05:08. > :05:11.used lots. In these blustery conditions, when Ross Ford gets his

:05:12. > :05:16.line are going, it will be important to hit that man. Tommy Seymour is in

:05:17. > :05:21.the Guinness PRO12 dream team. Not a surprise. I was involved in picking

:05:22. > :05:25.that team. Toolis was not one of the names I thought would have come

:05:26. > :05:30.forward, but he is there on merit. He has had a consistent performance.

:05:31. > :05:33.Grant Gilchrist, he has signed a new deal for Edinburgh, the former

:05:34. > :05:39.Edinburgh captain has not hit the highs of a couple of years ago. Now

:05:40. > :05:44.he has signed, can he be the catalyst for this Edinburgh team is

:05:45. > :05:47.Richard Cockerill takes over? Similar impetus hoped for in the

:05:48. > :05:54.signing of John Hardie. No Hamish Watson today, of course. Hardie not

:05:55. > :06:02.a bad substitute to fill his boots. Other injuries as well. Several

:06:03. > :06:11.Edinburgh injuries listed, leaving them thin on the bench, perhaps.

:06:12. > :06:18.Hogg was a bit flat-footed. He could see Lee Jones coming over from the

:06:19. > :06:23.other side, presumably. Comfortable enough, the ball rolling over the

:06:24. > :06:25.line. Edinburgh will have to watch the strength of the wind, that they

:06:26. > :06:38.do not overcook this. Hogg has looked a few times. He has

:06:39. > :06:45.attempted a few moves. Early days to be taking too many risks. Russell

:06:46. > :06:51.lifted into the wind. It stalls halfway. Gilchrist lost it in the

:06:52. > :06:59.sun, presumably because he had not a clue where it was. Russell Bidwell

:07:00. > :07:03.to get out of that one, somehow. Peter Horne jumped a couple of feet.

:07:04. > :07:11.The referee will look at that tackle again. Maybe a suggestion that was a

:07:12. > :07:17.bit high. We will wait and see what happens. The flat pass, well taken.

:07:18. > :07:26.The wind caught that one. It was fine, play on.

:07:27. > :07:31.Glasgow resetting and playing into the wind, they will be content to

:07:32. > :07:37.get their hands on the ball and get back into the game. No great urgency

:07:38. > :07:46.at the moment. Here we go, up the wing. Hidalgo-Clyne covers. You has

:07:47. > :07:54.to be careful. He is driven forward, which gave him impotence. Seymour

:07:55. > :08:02.cleverly stood of him. Just that sense of potency when Seymour gets

:08:03. > :08:09.the ball. Just the feeling that he is always going to create something,

:08:10. > :08:13.is superb finisher, of course. Hidalgo-Clyne using the wind again.

:08:14. > :08:21.Not quite gathered by the ball boy below us. Hoots of derision. This

:08:22. > :08:28.was a good break. Yes, lovely hands to release Seymour. He kept the

:08:29. > :08:32.momentum going with the kick. This was the tackle. I do not know what

:08:33. > :08:37.you felt about this? It was a little high, but the fact that Finn Russell

:08:38. > :08:41.estate, and what I like about him, when he gets trapped, he is aware of

:08:42. > :08:47.the space either side of him. That is why he is a standout player for

:08:48. > :08:51.Scottish rugby. It is in these close exchanges that he revels so much. It

:08:52. > :08:56.is almost like a challenge to get away. He loves playing in the pocket

:08:57. > :09:02.area. He attracts the defenders onto him. He has a good pass and

:09:03. > :09:06.occasionally he slips the past too much and that is where the mistakes

:09:07. > :09:13.come in. Consistency has to be part of his game. Quick ball from

:09:14. > :09:17.Glasgow. They made a mess of that. I transfer Edinburgh. Overelaborate.

:09:18. > :09:23.It did not fall for Edinburgh. They had three men and a gaping hole in

:09:24. > :09:31.front of them. They have dropped the ball. They have still got it. Ulster

:09:32. > :09:36.are leading Leinster, 7-3, we will keep you posted in the early stages

:09:37. > :09:41.of these games. Munster are leading Connacht as well, 7-0. That would

:09:42. > :09:47.take Munster to the top of the table. There is a long way to go.

:09:48. > :09:52.Hidalgo-Clyne tries half a step. He almost made it. The crunching

:09:53. > :10:01.tackling midfield. Edinburgh keeping the ball alive.

:10:02. > :10:09.Hidalgo-Clyne. Here we go! You know I thought this would happen, Scott,

:10:10. > :10:16.one point or another, we might as well get it over with now. Always an

:10:17. > :10:21.edge between Glasgow and Edinburgh. It's tremendous to see. Just the

:10:22. > :10:27.edge within the game. We're going to have another look. This may have

:10:28. > :10:32.happened when Sam Hidalgo-Clyne slapped a Glasgow player on the

:10:33. > :10:34.Derry air. Just to attract attention. Then something seems to

:10:35. > :10:41.have happened on the floor. He's going to have a word with the

:10:42. > :10:50.captain. Let's listen in. We have a penalty against the tackler.

:10:51. > :10:55.Listen... The TMO has had a look, we've had that in the game. Stop now

:10:56. > :10:59.or I'll have to do something about it next time. I like it when a wee

:11:00. > :11:05.guide tells to big guys what's going on and who is in charge. Absolutely.

:11:06. > :11:09.Against Willett let's have another look. Player in the offside

:11:10. > :11:16.position, he thought he had tackler is right. Little knee coming in from

:11:17. > :11:21.Hardy. It was hardly coming in to put his knee in the back of the

:11:22. > :11:28.Glasgow player. A wee bit of this, we bit of that. The upshot of it all

:11:29. > :11:36.is Duncan Weir is going to have a go. Wind assisted. It's really as

:11:37. > :11:46.well well within his range with the wind at his back. Maybe not the best

:11:47. > :12:02.site to be kicking four. -- the best side.

:12:03. > :12:09.He's having to squint into the sun for the rangefinder to work. Working

:12:10. > :12:13.perfectly because that is a beauty, that is a beauty. The former Glasgow

:12:14. > :12:17.player nodded Edinburgh into the lead with his second penalty. A good

:12:18. > :12:27.hit from there. We talked about all of these derby matches. The flag is

:12:28. > :12:31.blowing behind. Finn Russell meanwhile sent one directly upwards

:12:32. > :12:38.and downwards. The second time Grant Gilchrist has had trouble. Another

:12:39. > :12:41.example of the Sun causing Edinburgh difficulty, because that went right

:12:42. > :12:48.over Duncan Weir's shoulder. The wind is with them, the sun is

:12:49. > :12:53.against them. And that could be quite difficult as the game

:12:54. > :12:56.develops. Looking into the second half the sun will have changed, the

:12:57. > :13:03.wind might die, goodness knows what will happen. All these things coming

:13:04. > :13:08.into play. All the factors. As a player you must play with the

:13:09. > :13:12.conditions, can they put a high kick up, but somebody under pressure,

:13:13. > :13:15.because they are squinting into the sun. The pick and drive into the

:13:16. > :13:23.wind is important to retain position. Mike Blair and Gregor

:13:24. > :13:28.Townsend spent a lot of time on the pitch very early on checking out

:13:29. > :13:36.these conditions, where the sun was, where it would be, the rest of it.

:13:37. > :13:39.Seymour has gone for wonder. This is what the panel was talking about

:13:40. > :13:43.beforehand, this is what Damien Hoyland doesn't do enough of.

:13:44. > :13:52.Looking for the ball all the way across the back line. Fagerson takes

:13:53. > :13:55.a rumble. This time it is Ali Price looking for help from the referee,

:13:56. > :14:11.Adams. Ferocious stuff on the ground. Not

:14:12. > :14:18.exactly coming to the delight of the Glasgow crowd below me here. Maybe

:14:19. > :14:23.influenced the referee because they are not clearing out quickly enough,

:14:24. > :14:28.Scott. They certainly aren't, trying to slow the ball down. Glasgow no if

:14:29. > :14:41.they can put speed in the ball they've got the best attack. As

:14:42. > :14:46.Fagerson goes in, second man goes in. He's still got hands on the

:14:47. > :14:50.ball. A beauty up the touchline. Stuart Hogg has spun that one,

:14:51. > :14:57.something I don't think Glasgow use often enough is that long, quick

:14:58. > :15:01.kick he's got that spins into the wind. The spiral kit is so

:15:02. > :15:06.effective, we don't see it so much in play, its end on end. Kicking

:15:07. > :15:09.coaches want accuracy. At the spiral kit if you hit it right... If you

:15:10. > :15:14.do, you gain those extra metres which are so important. On a day

:15:15. > :15:22.like today it drills through the wind. Substitutes warming up behind

:15:23. > :15:28.the post. They are heading for them. Crawling. This time they have to go

:15:29. > :15:35.with it. They've loaded everybody on the left, seamers in the middle.

:15:36. > :15:47.Edinburgh defending desperately now. Fraser Brown flattened. And a

:15:48. > :15:52.penalty, good pressure. The referee is going to... Take it from the

:15:53. > :16:06.mark. Going to go a little bit further. Lets just tidy that area.

:16:07. > :16:09.I've just spoken to you. Another indication, Edinburgh are getting to

:16:10. > :16:15.the breakdown quicker. Here is another take by Brown. Cornell Du

:16:16. > :16:20.Preez. They are not staying on their feet. You can see Ford goes over but

:16:21. > :16:23.Du Preez is over the ball. This Edinburgh can stay on their feet

:16:24. > :16:33.they can disrupt the accurate ball from Glasgow.

:16:34. > :16:43.So, Finn Russell trading blows with Duncan Weir. This time he is much

:16:44. > :16:56.closer. Strict front of the post. All things being equal, pretty

:16:57. > :17:03.straightforward, I would say. Give it a good nudge.

:17:04. > :17:14.Another one, clocking up the score. Six apiece now. All square on

:17:15. > :17:18.penalties. Gregor Townsend, well, I think it was he who mentions the

:17:19. > :17:24.peripheral stuff. I'm sure he's doing his best to keep that out of

:17:25. > :17:28.his mind. It can't be easy. He always played with the periphery,

:17:29. > :17:31.the way he attacked the game. I'm sure he's conscious of the fact

:17:32. > :17:36.he'll have his first squad announcement of the Scotland tour in

:17:37. > :17:42.the summer. That is on Monday. That is one I mentioned earlier in terms

:17:43. > :17:48.of the wind overcooking the kick from midfield. It's going all the

:17:49. > :17:54.way back, which brings him back down to the centre. Let's get a view. I

:17:55. > :18:00.thought we were going down to get a view from Andy Nichol, but we'll

:18:01. > :18:05.join him later. Well, we can in fact go to Andy Nichol on the touchline.

:18:06. > :18:09.You can see with the kick from Duncan Weir, there is really strong

:18:10. > :18:13.wind affecting the game. Some of the passes are going away from the

:18:14. > :18:16.players. I've been impressed with Edinburgh's intent, they've come

:18:17. > :18:20.here to play. They've taken quick line-outs, throwing the ball around.

:18:21. > :18:24.That is what they need to do. I watched them in the warm up, they

:18:25. > :18:28.had a lot of running. I think that is what they are translating into

:18:29. > :18:39.the game so far. Glasgow very flat behind the scrum. But they've split,

:18:40. > :18:56.three on each side. Lantz, stability and height. -- lads. Stability and

:18:57. > :19:00.height. Exactly. Exactly half way. We saw a football pitch in Brazil

:19:01. > :19:05.which claimed to have its centreline on the equator, I'm not sure if that

:19:06. > :19:11.is what is happening here, but the weather conditions are somewhat

:19:12. > :19:15.similar. Even if the team has to wear three jackets on a day like

:19:16. > :19:22.this. Penalty again to Glasgow. Price goes left. Russell. Peter

:19:23. > :19:29.Horne dumped unceremoniously. Glasgow have them all lined up

:19:30. > :19:38.waiting in the traffic. Well met. They go left again. Russell teasing

:19:39. > :19:43.the Edinburgh defence. Now they are strung up all across, a big red

:19:44. > :19:52.line, washing line across the pitch. Duncan Weir and Kinghorn have

:19:53. > :19:54.stepped back deeper. Again, Edinburgh slowing down. This time

:19:55. > :20:00.the referee comes down on their side. They managed to slow that down

:20:01. > :20:06.because that was beginning to build up a head of steam and a lot of

:20:07. > :20:13.possession for Glasgow. As I've been mentioning, Edinburgh are getting to

:20:14. > :20:19.the breakdown quicker. TMO check. I think we're going to the TMO again.

:20:20. > :20:29.On a late hit by Edinburgh 12. We're going to put it the screen. A

:20:30. > :20:35.potential late hit. A potential late tackle coming up here. That the

:20:36. > :20:41.referee is going to have a look at. Keep an eye on number 12 from

:20:42. > :20:49.Edinburgh. Phil Burleigh. That's tackle there. Can we get on with the

:20:50. > :20:52.game please? One more angle coming. There is an audible groans around

:20:53. > :21:06.the field, when they saw that. Because, as you say... Both angles

:21:07. > :21:14.of that, thank you. No arms tackle. By Reg 12. And thinking just a

:21:15. > :21:20.penalty. Can I get Reg 12? We're listening to see how he resolves

:21:21. > :21:24.this. To all intents and purposes, the view will have been nothing

:21:25. > :21:31.much. No arms tackle, penalty only this time, but it has to stop. You

:21:32. > :21:35.can see the sense of frustration, Scott, you can feel it around the

:21:36. > :21:43.field. I don't think anybody was really bothered with that. There is

:21:44. > :21:47.zero tolerance to that. Whilst I was questioning it, and there was no

:21:48. > :21:51.reaction at all, it's a technicality. Interesting choice

:21:52. > :21:58.from Glasgow. They are going down the line again against the wind. So

:21:59. > :22:06.they fancy the territory and the short-range attack. That son went

:22:07. > :22:11.out onto pretty much the railway line, I expect. Might not have been

:22:12. > :22:18.what he was aiming for. We didn't quite make it. Let's have a look

:22:19. > :22:22.again. It goes out, the tackle. The rat was there to start with. I

:22:23. > :22:26.talked about zero tolerance. It frustrates me sometimes if it's

:22:27. > :22:35.wrong. And that was wrong. The letter of the law. Being applied

:22:36. > :22:42.rigidly. So far. It'll be Glasgow again using that penalty. Then going

:22:43. > :22:47.for the secondary attack. Gilchrist has been caught back here. He has to

:22:48. > :22:54.get out of there. Glasgow driving up the middle. They are six or seven

:22:55. > :23:02.metres out, Glasgow. Untidy, though. Going left, left. Again, strangled

:23:03. > :23:08.by Edinburgh. It's just not coming back cleanly enough for Glasgow at

:23:09. > :23:20.the moment. The crowd senses they are gaining the upper hand. Fagerson

:23:21. > :23:27.waits. Bryce again. Some good defence by Edinburgh, big hits.

:23:28. > :23:31.Fraser Brown spins into this tackle, trying to present the ball. Here it

:23:32. > :23:36.comes. This time they have dummy runners all over the place, Glasgow.

:23:37. > :23:42.Russell goes through over the tackle. They are much tighter, much

:23:43. > :23:50.tighter, Glasgow. Edinburgh piling the defence into the point of

:23:51. > :23:54.contact. It's just been a bit predictable from Glasgow so far.

:23:55. > :24:02.Almost as if they are trying to take the legs out of Edinburgh. For the

:24:03. > :24:07.time being, a dummy run. Well Shepherd about. A couple of dummy

:24:08. > :24:12.runs in there. Well rehearsed move. The soft hands of Stuart Hogg, it's

:24:13. > :24:19.almost like they are in the Six Nations. That is from Finn Russell,

:24:20. > :24:27.allowing the overlap to be created. Glasgow aren't getting quick enough

:24:28. > :24:32.front foot. Grant Gilchrist, potentially a no arms tackle. Play

:24:33. > :24:36.on, said the referee. It's not quick enough for Ali Price to get momentum

:24:37. > :24:42.into this phase play. It's not tight enough, not quick enough, but very

:24:43. > :24:46.much in their favour. Against the wind, they have camped in the

:24:47. > :24:52.Edinburgh half. Throwing the ball isn't the easiest thing to do

:24:53. > :24:56.either. They need to dump this. Duncan Weir hasn't got an awful lot

:24:57. > :25:02.of room at the back. They'll try to create space. Glasgow have thumped

:25:03. > :25:10.them backwards. A little bit of a to-do off the ball. Sort of that one

:25:11. > :25:17.out. Hidalgo-Clyne sends. Lee Jones... Curious bounce. Twice. The

:25:18. > :25:23.second one works. Off he goes. He's got inside runners. Eventually pulls

:25:24. > :25:32.down price, fumbles, then goes himself. It's just scrappy stuff.

:25:33. > :25:41.Fagerson comes into scrum-half. That was his brother.

:25:42. > :25:49.Gordon Reid has ago. Edinburgh will be quite pleased with their defence,

:25:50. > :25:55.they have been closing the space-time, it has been good. It is

:25:56. > :25:58.quick and rapid, but exhausting, I suspect, as well. Fagerson almost

:25:59. > :26:16.lost that. Just. Again, the Edinburgh defence is up

:26:17. > :26:22.like a shot. All sorts of stuff, and a high tackle, I suspect. The

:26:23. > :26:27.referee's arm is out. Russell knew that, the kick to nothing. The

:26:28. > :26:34.referee has stopped the game. On this occasion, he will have to give

:26:35. > :26:41.a yellow card. Too many penalties. Ross Ford is in trouble this time.

:26:42. > :26:48.We have a high tackle, repeated foul play. It will be a yellow card. It

:26:49. > :26:54.is a yellow card to Ross Ford. 25.5 minutes into the game, Edinburgh's

:26:55. > :27:00.task has become that bit more difficult. Yes, looking at Ross Ford

:27:01. > :27:07.in the rate of your picture. Here he comes. It is on top of the shoulder,

:27:08. > :27:11.zero tolerance. Lots of viewers at home would feel sympathy for a Ross

:27:12. > :27:16.Ford. Such is the modern game, the way that world rugby when the game

:27:17. > :27:21.refereed. You are right in saying his response was, you are joking.

:27:22. > :27:27.The referee certainly was not joking. He has delivered a yellow

:27:28. > :27:30.card, and he has gone. Once upon a time, you would praise attack like

:27:31. > :27:35.that. There was a time when if you went over the top of the shoulder

:27:36. > :27:41.and got the ball, it would be OK, but you cannot do that any more.

:27:42. > :27:47.Zero tolerance is the phrase that is counting at the moment. It is

:27:48. > :27:51.certainly being applied with a degree of rigour. It is certainly

:27:52. > :27:56.costing Edinburgh more at the moment. Glasgow have taken the

:27:57. > :28:04.choice to go down the line again. REFEREE: You need to speed this up.

:28:05. > :28:13.Six points on the evening each. Glasgow have a significant comfort

:28:14. > :28:19.zone, the lead from the first match. They look to capitalise on Ross

:28:20. > :28:28.Ford's absence. He is kicking his heels below us. Frustrated. Glasgow

:28:29. > :28:35.go on the rumble. Fagerson gives them the final match, not

:28:36. > :28:42.insignificant. Fagerson Square, they are both in, and they have lost the

:28:43. > :28:50.ball. The maul was called. That is a minor moral victory for Edinburgh. A

:28:51. > :28:54.tremendous driving maul from Glasgow. Very interesting. John

:28:55. > :29:01.Hardie and Grant Gilchrist managed to disrupt it and slow it down. That

:29:02. > :29:06.is what Hardie is good at. Technically very good, getting the

:29:07. > :29:11.drive going. Look at Hardie, disrupting the possession. Gilchrist

:29:12. > :29:16.was also down on this one. There was some pulling down. The referee is

:29:17. > :29:21.not happy with the amount of Jack Hughes getting from Glasgow. That is

:29:22. > :29:27.also something he could hit them with. We knew it was coming between

:29:28. > :29:34.these two teams. The Guinness PRO12, so many games are these head to head

:29:35. > :29:39.between rival teams. The best one was between Treviso and Zebre, both

:29:40. > :29:42.on 19 points, whoever wins that one in Italian rugby gets to get to play

:29:43. > :29:50.in the European Champions Cup next season. There has obviously got to

:29:51. > :29:55.be a change for Edinburgh because of Ross Ford's departure. Number 16,

:29:56. > :30:05.Neil Cochrane has already entered the fray. John Hardie is coming off.

:30:06. > :30:17.Hardie is coming off down at the posts and Neil Cochrane is ambling

:30:18. > :30:21.on. I suspect Hardie might have taken a knock anyway. There might

:30:22. > :30:29.have been an element of caution in removing him. Let's have a look at

:30:30. > :30:36.some stats. Look at the number of tackles being made. 21 Four Glasgow,

:30:37. > :30:42.46 on the Edinburgh side. That tells its own story. More than double

:30:43. > :30:48.means they are in the ascendancy. The Rangers manager is in the

:30:49. > :30:52.building. He has just spotted himself on the television, along

:30:53. > :30:57.with one of his directors, Paul Murray, who has an attachment to the

:30:58. > :31:01.Melrose club through his son, I understand. An interesting afternoon

:31:02. > :31:11.for the Ibrox contingent. Edinburgh will be pleased with that decision.

:31:12. > :31:15.They are starting to spoil so much of the Glasgow effort. They are

:31:16. > :31:22.enjoying their Saturday afternoon with the Rob Lee shaped ball. I

:31:23. > :31:26.wonder who they are talking about. A fascinating Ben Alnwick building in

:31:27. > :31:31.this game with the scoreline stuck on 6-6. Can Edinburgh compete with

:31:32. > :31:35.Glasgow, play with the strong breeze? How will they vary their

:31:36. > :31:39.tactics and what tactics will Glasgow employ in the second half?

:31:40. > :31:44.They have got to play some rugby down in the Edinburgh have. Double

:31:45. > :31:51.the amount of tackles is bound to tell on the Edinburgh legs

:31:52. > :31:57.eventually. 17-0, Munster are beating Connacht, they are doing the

:31:58. > :32:04.business. We are heading for the half-hour mark. Ten minutes left of

:32:05. > :32:13.this 1872 Cup match, the Guinness PRO12. A bit of juggling. Up and

:32:14. > :32:20.over. Symptomatic of the game so far. Neither side really

:32:21. > :32:24.establishing any dominance. Most of the play has been in the Edinburgh

:32:25. > :32:35.have. It has been snappy. This is a good break. Burleigh was lucky.

:32:36. > :32:43.Kinghorn takes it. Russell is hoping this will run. It will go over the

:32:44. > :32:49.first line. That is another to give him the chance to draw in Kinghorn.

:32:50. > :32:53.It did not roll all the way. That is the tactic Edinburgh should've been

:32:54. > :32:59.employing more, kicking the ball. Looking at the territory they have

:33:00. > :33:01.got, Glasgow need to be wary in the second half. They need to do their

:33:02. > :33:06.pick and drive game and attack with ball in hand, then they contest the

:33:07. > :33:09.Edinburgh defence. Edinburgh are trying to get through the ten

:33:10. > :33:17.minutes without any other major losses. Again, the ball hanging.

:33:18. > :33:22.Toolis makes a decent fist of catching it.

:33:23. > :33:38.That looked forward, the way Duncan Weir past it. The referee says OK.

:33:39. > :33:48.The substitute, Cochrane, the first substitute. That was back. Back on

:33:49. > :33:55.the wind. Another penalty to Edinburgh. This is very interesting.

:33:56. > :34:01.Hidalgo-Clyne, Fagerson, here comes the cavalry. To no great effect, I

:34:02. > :34:15.have to say. Absolutely pointless. The penalty was all fair and easy

:34:16. > :34:21.enough to sort out. It was the aftermath. That gives Duncan Weir a

:34:22. > :34:28.good shot on his better side in terms of using the wind, I would

:34:29. > :34:32.suggest. Perfectly within range. This would be a decent return for

:34:33. > :34:38.Edinburgh. It would be. Good to see Damien Hoyland get in a couple of

:34:39. > :34:42.times, coming off his wing. Hoyland goes into clear, in this incident.

:34:43. > :34:48.They have got the penalty because the ball has not been released. Alex

:34:49. > :34:49.Dunbar goes over the top as well. It kicked off after that. There was

:34:50. > :35:03.nothing in that. We have a good view of Duncan Weir

:35:04. > :35:08.this time. He has to turn the ball. Look at the way the ball is pointing

:35:09. > :35:18.to the posts. He has tightened his approach as he comes in.

:35:19. > :35:30.The wind caught that. Yes. He threw it into the wind and the way it

:35:31. > :35:37.went. 6-9, Edinburgh are leading. Duncan Weir is dominating the

:35:38. > :35:44.scoreboard again for the city side. He has kicked all 21 points for

:35:45. > :35:52.Edinburgh in the two game. That tells a tale, I suspect. Glasgow on

:35:53. > :35:59.the Price. Dunbar flat-footed. Somebody has lost a bit, I think.

:36:00. > :36:03.That is what is lying in the field. -- lost a boot. Ali Price is

:36:04. > :36:19.hobbling into midfield. Again, Price. The scrum-half is

:36:20. > :36:25.trying to persuade the referee that something is happening.

:36:26. > :36:37.Lots of clearance work being done by the Glasgow forwards. He almost took

:36:38. > :36:44.that pass on his chin. Fagerson has another burst. Fusaro is behind him.

:36:45. > :36:48.He threw that miles away. This could be important for Edinburgh if they

:36:49. > :36:52.can put Peter Horne under pressure. Everybody is appealing. Glasgow have

:36:53. > :37:15.it. Again, Fagerson. I will need to start calling them by

:37:16. > :37:17.their first names, to make it clear. Price, slow again from Glasgow.

:37:18. > :37:28.Jonny Gray. We are almost into the time when

:37:29. > :37:35.Ross Ford will come back. John Hardie will get back on as well and

:37:36. > :37:43.Cochrane will come off. Ali Price, making the first ten metres, off he

:37:44. > :37:52.goes. He has got another penalty. This is potentially very serious for

:37:53. > :37:57.Edinburgh. Another yellow card. This time it is Sam Hidalgo-Clyne who has

:37:58. > :38:01.been shown the yellow card by Mike Adamson. Glasgow have got to get his

:38:02. > :38:07.ball into the corner and drive from the line-out. The quick tap I Ali

:38:08. > :38:14.Price, this is one of his strengths within the game, always aware. There

:38:15. > :38:18.is the first tackle. It is the second one, the closure after that.

:38:19. > :38:25.I am looking to see if they can get Ross Ford back on. They cannot. They

:38:26. > :38:31.have not got Ross Ford are Hidalgo-Clyne, and they have not got

:38:32. > :38:35.Hardie. The three most important players in the Edinburgh ranks are

:38:36. > :38:42.not on the pitch. Glasgow my score from this line-out. The first part

:38:43. > :38:51.of it is done. Here they come. This is a major test for Edinburgh's

:38:52. > :38:57.defensive capabilities. It goes left. Russell just about takes out

:38:58. > :39:11.the referee on his way through. Less than five minutes of the first

:39:12. > :39:16.half left. Glasgow looking to score while they have the upper hand in

:39:17. > :39:21.numerical terms, if nothing else. The crowd are calling for it.

:39:22. > :39:30.Edinburgh, tight as they can be. Driving forward. Keeping them out at

:39:31. > :39:37.the moment to about ten metres. Out it comes, Jonny Gray. Tommy Seymour

:39:38. > :39:43.is screaming for it on the touchline. They are coming with men

:39:44. > :39:48.aplenty. Russell Knox it back. They have butchered it. Edinburgh have

:39:49. > :39:51.picked it up. Toolis takes it in. Can anyone kick it out? They have to

:39:52. > :40:02.get it to the line. Avenue look to see where Kinghorn

:40:03. > :40:09.is. Bryce is their best bet. Duncan Weir has been sucked in as well. The

:40:10. > :40:14.longer the play goes on, the longer they are without the man. That is

:40:15. > :40:19.the dilemma. Duncan Weir is going to have a go. A bit comes and out it

:40:20. > :40:28.goes. He's managed to stop the play which gives them a chance to get

:40:29. > :40:34.Ford and Hardy back on. -- Hardie. You felt the pass was the option.

:40:35. > :40:40.Seymour was screaming for the ball. There was an overlap. Edinburgh are

:40:41. > :40:47.on a tight line here, aren't they? Glasgow will be disappointed with

:40:48. > :40:51.that, I expect. I felt through the game Glasgow's normal accuracy has

:40:52. > :40:55.not been there. When Glasgow get it right they can almost be

:40:56. > :41:00.unstoppable, the crowd get behind them and they can open up, so some

:41:01. > :41:03.of the poor passing that has happened has taken momentum off the

:41:04. > :41:09.attack phases. It's leaving everybody around the stadium in a

:41:10. > :41:13.slightly uncomfortable atmosphere from the Glasgow point of view. I

:41:14. > :41:18.think they are expecting a runny here today. I was expecting more on

:41:19. > :41:24.the scoreboard in favour of Glasgow. Russell once again widening the gap.

:41:25. > :41:26.Look at the space to the left. Seymour out towards the wide

:41:27. > :41:34.channel. He tried to put the ball back. Who did it. He felt if he had

:41:35. > :41:39.given the pass, Weir had been tucked in. Super tackle from the Edinburgh

:41:40. > :41:43.skipper Grant Gilchrist. They've got, what have they got, three

:41:44. > :41:55.minutes left to try and break this Edinburgh defence. It's bound to

:41:56. > :42:01.take its toll eventually. They need to get to Hidalgo-Clyne, he won't

:42:02. > :42:09.come back on again. They are having to look faculty -- difficulty

:42:10. > :42:13.delivering the ball to the try line. I was talking about the accuracy of

:42:14. > :42:20.the Glasgow passing movement, that is a factor. Having a look at what

:42:21. > :42:33.changes. There is another change here, number 23. Rasolea are coming

:42:34. > :42:36.on. And Phil Burleigh. I suspect it is the previous injury. Phil

:42:37. > :42:48.Burleigh has very heavy strapping on the touchline. So, Rasolea has

:42:49. > :42:54.replaced Burleigh midfield, so that will be a permanent replacement, I'm

:42:55. > :43:00.sure, because Burleigh is absolutely disconsolate coming up at the

:43:01. > :43:03.touchline. Duncan Weir playing scrum-half and Glasgow have turned

:43:04. > :43:14.it, nicked it, here they come, extra men on the left. Horne takes it

:43:15. > :43:26.himself. This time they come back in the other direction. Russell again.

:43:27. > :43:39.The pass was down on his boot Gray. -- on his bootlaces, Jonny Gray.

:43:40. > :43:48.Running out of space. Price. Scott Cummings. Gone quiet today so far.

:43:49. > :43:57.Russell again. Jonny Gray appearing in midfield. Price again. Glasgow

:43:58. > :44:02.stepping the pace up with plenty of opportunity here on the left-hand

:44:03. > :44:11.side. Again, the Edinburgh defence stands firm, Price delivers. Here he

:44:12. > :44:16.comes again, short pass. Short pass that time. Stifled again by

:44:17. > :44:30.Edinburgh. Peter Horne. Quick pass to and a marker. The two Lions

:44:31. > :44:35.together. Jonny Gray and Cummings... Price getting plenty of the ball.

:44:36. > :44:44.Quick passes from Glasgow out of the left-hand side. Lee Jones rips

:44:45. > :44:48.through, set it back. One-handed, beautiful tape by Fraser Brown. Not

:44:49. > :44:56.exactly a beautiful delivery, however. Russell, flat pass.

:44:57. > :45:11.Cummings breakthrough. Glasgow score! Jonny Gray the captain has

:45:12. > :45:15.shown them how to do it. If there was try of the season I would have

:45:16. > :45:20.this one right up at the top because Glasgow were so patient. What about

:45:21. > :45:23.the reverse flip pass from one second row, Scott Cummings, to

:45:24. > :45:29.Captain Jonny Gray. Lovely little bit of skill. Weren't Glasgow

:45:30. > :45:32.patient in the build-up? Edinburgh looking at the clock. They were in

:45:33. > :45:37.the red for the first half, Glasgow impatient. At last, their accuracy

:45:38. > :45:44.was good and this young boy, Scott Cummings, one for the future, has

:45:45. > :45:50.all of the touchers. That had just a shade of the Turrini flip about it.

:45:51. > :45:57.Lovely hands from the big fella to the other big fella. Now one of the

:45:58. > :45:58.wee fella is. Then Russell. Difficult one this against the

:45:59. > :46:22.breeze. And then half-time. He's missed it, he's not managed to

:46:23. > :46:26.drill it through. It's just faded. I was just explaining what has

:46:27. > :46:29.happened. There is the man who made the big breakthrough for Glasgow,

:46:30. > :46:36.the captain Jonny Gray, who plunged over the line wildly. In the red

:46:37. > :46:40.zone. Because that is the big difference between the two times.

:46:41. > :46:48.Duncan Weir has continued his scoring well in this fixture.

:46:49. > :46:52.Scoring all of Edinburgh's point since Boxing Day. It takes us to

:46:53. > :47:02.half-time, Glasgow leading Edinburgh 11-9. STUDIO: Write on the interval

:47:03. > :47:06.Glasgow increased their advantage against Edinburgh. Let's get into

:47:07. > :47:11.all thoughts of Alan Tait and Andy Nichol. It was a pretty frustrating

:47:12. > :47:16.first half of Glasgow until that moment. They've dominated the first

:47:17. > :47:20.half against the wind, they've been banging on the door. Fair play to

:47:21. > :47:26.Edinburgh, they've dug deep into offence but there has been sloppy

:47:27. > :47:30.passing. -- deep in defence. They haven't managed to get the angle

:47:31. > :47:36.run, keep as, get Stuart Hogg or Tommy Seymour in space. They've kept

:47:37. > :47:39.going, showed patients. They've taken the lead, which they fully

:47:40. > :47:44.deserved, especially when Edinburgh were down to 30 men for a period.

:47:45. > :47:48.They were running the ball a lot earlier, what do you think the

:47:49. > :47:55.tactic was? SPEAKS GERMAN. They want to play a quick game, get the ball

:47:56. > :47:58.moving, slow the Glasgow pack down. -- Haji will be happy the way

:47:59. > :48:04.Edinburgh have played. Gregor will be happy because they've come out

:48:05. > :48:07.well. They got into the rhythm at the very end going through the

:48:08. > :48:10.phases. Once Glasgow have the multiphase game, that is when there

:48:11. > :48:15.will be trouble for Edinburgh, especially with 14 men on the field.

:48:16. > :48:21.Glasgow will feel they got what they deserved in terms of the 11-9/2-time

:48:22. > :48:28.scoreline. Even further ahead on aggregate. This is Jonny Gray's try.

:48:29. > :48:31.What I said earlier, they needed to keep as, the key part of the

:48:32. > :48:36.off-load from Scott Cummings in second row to his fellow second row

:48:37. > :48:40.and captain Jonny Gray. Fantastic flowed. It was the front line

:48:41. > :48:46.defence that was good, that level of play and ability, and vision, that

:48:47. > :48:53.can unlock the defence that Glasgow struggled for for the rest of the 30

:48:54. > :48:58.minutes. Key moment. Was it a trigger in the game? Interesting,

:48:59. > :49:04.the way the style of play, Russell has hit Zander Fagerson. He's hit

:49:05. > :49:08.the front runner into the wind. That time he put it across the front of

:49:09. > :49:15.him, then two big forwards linked up. It's great rugby, it's that

:49:16. > :49:18.vision, heads up rugby. As I say, Edinburgh it in an Ferguson, he's

:49:19. > :49:26.received the ball every time. It's great vision from Russell, he puts

:49:27. > :49:28.on his big boy she was in spaces. This is a quick line-out from

:49:29. > :49:37.Edinburgh trying to do things quickly. They have to try these

:49:38. > :49:42.things because they know... They are a much better side. Glasgow. Taking

:49:43. > :49:46.the line-out is great to see, haven't seen it a lot this season.

:49:47. > :49:50.Too little too late for the season but it showed ambition, intent, a

:49:51. > :49:57.good start. Maybe unlike Edinburgh. But this is much like Glasgow, quick

:49:58. > :50:00.tap penalties from Ali Price. Definitely, the boys know the

:50:01. > :50:12.tactics, they are not going to hang around, speed the game up, take it

:50:13. > :50:17.as it comes. This was later in the first half. Another penalty. Ali

:50:18. > :50:23.Price takes it. Look how quickly in behind he gets. They concede on the

:50:24. > :50:28.ground again, that was when Hidalgo-Clyne gets given a second

:50:29. > :50:31.yellow card. Edinburgh were struggling. They were under the cosh

:50:32. > :50:37.so much, having to give penalties away, that is why they conceded two

:50:38. > :50:40.yellow cards. Sam Hidalgo-Clyne. Ross Ford before them. We can see

:50:41. > :50:56.the incident that led to that. It's a high tackle. These days

:50:57. > :51:06.anything around the neck is going to be... It's the right call. It's

:51:07. > :51:09.difficult for big men. He's going away from price, but he's fallen

:51:10. > :51:14.into him. Difficult to come out of that. They don't want that tackle,

:51:15. > :51:21.players have to accept it. And stop doing it. The Jonny Gray Trai has

:51:22. > :51:24.changed the complexion of the game, until then it would have been a

:51:25. > :51:29.frustrated Glasgow, though they've had great possession, territory and

:51:30. > :51:34.the rest, symptomatic these couple of attempts, Alex Dunbar and Finn

:51:35. > :51:39.Russell, close but not close enough. After break, getting in behind, you

:51:40. > :51:44.think, recycle that. He loses ball in contact. Close to the line, Finn

:51:45. > :51:48.Russell attacks the line. Again, halfway through, loses the ball in

:51:49. > :51:51.contact. It summed up the first 38 minutes of that performance by

:51:52. > :51:56.Glasgow Warriors, the last two minutes they got the try. The fact

:51:57. > :52:03.the off-load has stuck and Jonny Gray got his try. 11-9 Glasgow ahead

:52:04. > :52:07.at half-time in the second leg of the 1872 cup and the second half

:52:08. > :52:12.will come your way shortly. We'll break away from the action. An

:52:13. > :52:17.emotional day for Greg Townsend, his final match as head coach of Glasgow

:52:18. > :52:20.Warriors. You'll take up his new appointment as head coach of

:52:21. > :52:25.Scotland. He's been reflecting with Craig Scotland.

:52:26. > :52:31.It's been a massive part of my life. Something I'll miss as soon as it

:52:32. > :52:38.ends, as soon as the final whistle of the game on Saturday. I'll

:52:39. > :52:41.forever have a connection with this club and this city. I've been

:52:42. > :52:47.reflecting just here in the last couple of training sessions on this

:52:48. > :52:58.field how big a part of my life this has been, how much I've enjoyed it.

:52:59. > :53:02.How has Glasgow got better, how have they got bigger? I think I was very

:53:03. > :53:07.fortunate in two areas, first to inherit this group of players, who

:53:08. > :53:13.have a fantastic work ethic, they are already a family, great

:53:14. > :53:16.leadership and guidance under alcoholic, who was there for the

:53:17. > :53:21.first three years of my coaching career. The other thing that was

:53:22. > :53:27.fortunate was removed to Scotstoun the season I became head coach and

:53:28. > :53:32.Scotstoun has been great for us. It's grown, we've created a noisy

:53:33. > :53:38.atmosphere. We are based here everyday training and working. Now

:53:39. > :53:46.to see it with the stands all around the pitch, fantastic pitch behind

:53:47. > :53:50.me, it definitely became something that features in the lives of people

:53:51. > :53:54.in the west of Scotland and throughout Scotland, which has been

:53:55. > :53:59.great to live through. Which have been your best memories to live

:54:00. > :54:02.through? So many. If you could come in to work and enjoy your

:54:03. > :54:08.interactions with people around you, that is great already, then you add

:54:09. > :54:13.the achievements the players have individually, getting picked for

:54:14. > :54:17.Scotland, picked for British Lions. Going on to reach their potential

:54:18. > :54:25.playing for us in big games, winning games for us. Those are the things

:54:26. > :54:29.you get every week. Then there are the huge games, the memories we

:54:30. > :54:33.have. Those really big occasions. None bigger than the Pro12 final, an

:54:34. > :54:41.unbelievable performance from the team that day. What about the

:54:42. > :54:47.memories of the semifinals here? One against Munster, then against

:54:48. > :54:52.Ulster. The first semifinal was such a brilliant occasion, we had 10,000

:54:53. > :54:57.people at the game. It was a full-blooded contest, we played

:54:58. > :55:01.really well, so did Munster. We had to show real character to hold on

:55:02. > :55:06.right at the end. It was a brilliant night for everyone associated with

:55:07. > :55:10.the Warriors. The semifinal against Ulster the following season was a

:55:11. > :55:15.different sort of occasion. We were behind, didn't play our best. The

:55:16. > :55:22.crowd were willingness on, then a moment of magic at the end. The

:55:23. > :55:29.pass. Then fin's conversion. We were struggling with 15 players. Never

:55:30. > :55:30.mind going to extra time, it was amazing, showed what the group was

:55:31. > :55:38.capable of. How much will you miss this place? I

:55:39. > :55:43.will miss being the head coach hugely. I will miss coming into

:55:44. > :55:50.work, being in the office, the day-to-day routine of preparing for

:55:51. > :55:54.a game. I will miss the matches. Obviously I will be here regularly,

:55:55. > :56:00.so I will enjoy them as a spectator. You're doing the thing you love,

:56:01. > :56:04.working with the playing group, week to week. I know how lucky I was, and

:56:05. > :56:10.how fortunate I have been with this group of players. It has been a

:56:11. > :56:14.great experience for five years. This place will get better and

:56:15. > :56:18.better, from a stadium point of view, from a team point of view, I

:56:19. > :56:27.can only see good things for Glasgow.

:56:28. > :56:34.We know how successful he has been and the stats back that up when you

:56:35. > :56:38.look at those facts and figures. The second best coach over the last five

:56:39. > :56:46.years in the PRO12. Look at the win percentage. Winners of the 2015

:56:47. > :56:51.Championship, and in 2014, the finalise. The European breakthrough,

:56:52. > :56:57.reaching the Champions Cup quarterfinals for the first time

:56:58. > :57:02.this season. The phrase, end of an era, that can be overblown, but

:57:03. > :57:06.Gregor Townsend has had some impact. He has done a great job. He

:57:07. > :57:10.inherited some good players and a great squad but he has taken them to

:57:11. > :57:14.the next level. They have got to the play-offs every year but this year

:57:15. > :57:19.but they got to the quarterfinals of the Champions Cup. Away from the

:57:20. > :57:25.park, he has transformed it. When he came, the average crowd was over

:57:26. > :57:31.4000, it is now over 7000. 3000 extra people argued every time a

:57:32. > :57:35.Scotstoun. That is his legacy. He is leaving it to Dave Rennie in great

:57:36. > :57:40.hands. He will take that coaching ability onto Scotland and he will do

:57:41. > :57:43.a good job there, I have no doubt. Is it exciting to think about what

:57:44. > :57:50.Gregor Townsend can achieve? Vern Cotter has left him a decent squad.

:57:51. > :57:54.Vern Cotter has done a great job, he has got us playing the way he we

:57:55. > :58:02.want to play, the squad has an identity. It is therefore Gregor to

:58:03. > :58:08.take on. I am really excited. The work level, that is what it is

:58:09. > :58:12.about. Gregor has gone up a level as well as hopefully he can do that

:58:13. > :58:17.with Scotland. His main focus at the moment is on finishing what Glasgow

:58:18. > :58:21.Warriors have started. They have got themselves ahead at half-time. It

:58:22. > :58:30.has taken me the entire half payment of all out what 25-12 plus 11-9

:58:31. > :58:36.equals. 15 points of a difference going into the second half, 36-21.

:58:37. > :58:41.Commentary from Hugh Dan McClennan and Scott Hastings. We have heard

:58:42. > :58:45.lots about Gregor as a coach. Give us a story about his playing

:58:46. > :58:51.capability. I was playing centre alongside him when he was a fly-half

:58:52. > :58:55.Scotland. He was a risk taker and an innovator. You try to learn from the

:58:56. > :59:03.game. He was mercurial. Normally he was a great Scotland fly-half, but

:59:04. > :59:06.also as a British line. He needs people around him. In his coaching,

:59:07. > :59:13.he has brought the knowledge through to the players. In the half came

:59:14. > :59:17.into view, what came through was that the atmosphere that Scotstoun

:59:18. > :59:23.is special. They have brought into this brand and style and Dave Rennie

:59:24. > :59:26.can take that on. He also inherited some great players. As all good

:59:27. > :59:31.coaches do, it inspires great players. Here is hoping he gave some

:59:32. > :59:38.inspiration at half-time because the first half was not the best. I can

:59:39. > :59:41.confirm that Rob Maclean's arithmetic is good, 36-21 overall.

:59:42. > :59:56.25-12 in the first game. 11-9, Glasgow lead. Duncan Weir,

:59:57. > :00:06.formerly of this parish, gets Edinburgh under way. Ross Ford had a

:00:07. > :00:12.yellow card for Edinburgh, as did Sam Hidalgo-Clyne. The one try came

:00:13. > :00:18.from a Glasgow, Jonny Gray plunging over. This is Bryce, he has no idea

:00:19. > :00:27.about distance because his hallmark is pace. He has won the penalty. He

:00:28. > :00:30.has carried them forward. Almost a change in tactics immediately by

:00:31. > :00:36.getting Edinburgh to run more directly against the wind. If they

:00:37. > :00:42.will win this game, they will. Glenn Bryce was in front of him. There was

:00:43. > :00:48.a gap between Harley. They have got the penalty. That sets the tone for

:00:49. > :00:54.the second half. If Edinburgh are going to get into this game and take

:00:55. > :00:57.Glasgow for the 1872 Cup, they will have to attack with ball in hand for

:00:58. > :01:03.the next 40 minutes. A cheeky exchange between the two number

:01:04. > :01:07.tens. Glasgow made Duncan Weir while all the way to their 22 to get the

:01:08. > :01:13.ball and when he got there he had an exchange with his opposite number.

:01:14. > :01:16.Duncan Weir ended up tapping him on the back of the legs with the ball.

:01:17. > :01:22.We will see what the next tackle is like. This is difficult for Duncan

:01:23. > :01:28.Weir. He might not seem far out, and he is pretty direct in terms of

:01:29. > :01:37.being straight onto the poorest, but he will have to give this an

:01:38. > :01:40.almighty kick against the wind. -- straight onto the posts. Let's see

:01:41. > :01:56.what he had in his tea. He gave it everything. It has hung

:01:57. > :02:01.up. It was good. That is an almighty thump from Duncan Weir. It might not

:02:02. > :02:08.have looked like that, but it hung up enough to creep over the bar.

:02:09. > :02:14.This is a good view. Look at how it stalled. Look at the flags behind.

:02:15. > :02:22.That is an excellent kick. Duncan Weir has kept Edinburgh very much in

:02:23. > :02:28.touch with this Glasgow team. 11-12. 12 for Duncan Weir. He has all of

:02:29. > :02:36.their points across the two game. All the Edinburgh points have come

:02:37. > :02:43.from that right boot. Glasgow halving 13 point cushion coming into

:02:44. > :02:54.the game. -- Glasgow had the 13 point cushion. Weir again, I see is

:02:55. > :02:59.having to cover at scrum-half for Hidalgo-Clyne. That has been knocked

:03:00. > :03:04.in words. It must have gone forwards, clearly. The referee

:03:05. > :03:10.seemed to take an age to come to his decision, Mike Adamson. Some young

:03:11. > :03:16.kids, they have come all the way from France. They will play

:03:17. > :03:21.Kirkcaldy Rugby tomorrow. Such is the approach and a reach of this

:03:22. > :03:29.Glasgow Warriors team. I am not so sure about some of the hand signals,

:03:30. > :03:32.but there we go. One of the standout game in Glasgow's season, it was

:03:33. > :03:41.their back-to-back victories against Racing metro. Do you think Glasgow

:03:42. > :03:46.will leave the two British Lions on the pitch, will that be an issue? If

:03:47. > :03:53.I was in their shoes, I would feel tightness in my left hamstring. I

:03:54. > :03:59.can see another five or ten minutes. Tommy Seymour and Stuart Hogg, you

:04:00. > :04:04.want to get off without an injury and on the flight. In terms of the

:04:05. > :04:11.placid -- in terms of the passages of play, look at the meters. Glasgow

:04:12. > :04:15.just short of 200. Look at the pass is. It shows you the Glasgow

:04:16. > :04:19.dominance in the first half, attacking into the breeze. If

:04:20. > :04:24.Edinburgh are going to challenge Glasgow, they will have to play with

:04:25. > :04:30.the ball in hand. At the moment, Glasgow are in the ascendancy and

:04:31. > :04:33.possession. Hidalgo-Clyne is champing at the bit. This time

:04:34. > :04:44.Edinburgh have Damien Hoyland standing in. This time, John Hardie,

:04:45. > :04:48.they have the penalty. He was making sure that Ali Price never got away.

:04:49. > :04:53.The trademark quick penalty routine. Just watch Ali Price. He missed his

:04:54. > :05:00.opportunity to sprint down the left-hand channel, but the definite

:05:01. > :05:03.penalty. Stuart Hogg will drill bits into the corner. I think he will try

:05:04. > :05:08.and get the corner. He has pretty much done the job. That is a bit

:05:09. > :05:13.further out. I do not think he will be happy with that, the linesman

:05:14. > :05:22.coming back. Sam Hidalgo-Clyne is back on. They are slightly bemused

:05:23. > :05:27.as to why that did not go further down the pitch. Let's see what

:05:28. > :05:35.Glasgow do? They managed a couple of early rumbles in the first half.

:05:36. > :05:40.Gilchrist comes round and has to clear himself out, Toolis likewise.

:05:41. > :05:48.Another blast from Glasgow. Jonny Gray comes out. Harley grabs onto

:05:49. > :05:54.him and he is shunted out of the way by du Preez.

:05:55. > :06:04.Cummings. Glasgow using all the battering rams at their disposal.

:06:05. > :06:16.Russell goes on his own. Hogg. Lee Jones. He has ducked between John

:06:17. > :06:23.Hardie and Duncan Weir. The referee is going to have a look at this.

:06:24. > :06:30.There is a suggestion that Lee Jones might have been legally challenged.

:06:31. > :06:36.REFEREE:, try yes no, check touch. They will check whether he went into

:06:37. > :06:39.touch as well. Quick passing again. Trademark stuff from Glasgow. I

:06:40. > :06:44.watched Finn Russell from the line-out. It was magnificent the way

:06:45. > :06:49.he held his line. Let's see of Lee Jones gets this one down. We have

:06:50. > :07:00.chopped off his leg. His tone was infield. To me, that looks OK. I am

:07:01. > :07:05.not sure what Charles Samson, the TMO, will make of it. I have got the

:07:06. > :07:16.decision for you. The fit is in touch. The figures in touch, no

:07:17. > :07:24.score. The TMO has taken that away from Lee Jones. He was on the line.

:07:25. > :07:31.On the line is out. Tough times for Edinburgh. Glasgow were patients in

:07:32. > :07:36.the last line-out. They want to put the squeeze on Ross Ford's throw. It

:07:37. > :07:42.is windy. Look at the touch judge's flag. He has got to be accurate,

:07:43. > :07:47.Ford. They have cut the line outs might go over the top. Glasgow have

:07:48. > :07:52.left it that way, but they have left it to Toolis to take it down and

:07:53. > :07:59.they have stood off. Du Preez takes it down.

:08:00. > :08:05.Duncan Weir has not quite got them to the 22 metre line. You almost

:08:06. > :08:08.feel that Edinburgh are being suffocated with the strength of the

:08:09. > :08:17.wind. Duncan Weir cannot gain any territory. This was the no try. It

:08:18. > :08:27.is just here. This pass. We cannot see it. The linesman was perfectly

:08:28. > :08:33.placed. The angle from behind the goal was verification, I am sure, of

:08:34. > :08:36.what they thought. It was close. I was just wondering at half-time how

:08:37. > :08:42.Edinburgh feel about what they've achieved in the half. Their defence

:08:43. > :08:47.was good, right up until the moment that Glasgow got the tries through

:08:48. > :08:51.Jonny Gray. Up until that point, the defence had been good, they had

:08:52. > :08:56.stifled Glasgow. It is whether Edinburgh can live with the pressure

:08:57. > :09:00.of this Glasgow team. Once Glasgow are embedded in the 22, it will only

:09:01. > :09:05.be a matter of time before they scored again. We do not think there

:09:06. > :09:10.is an find the Edinburgh bench to counter that. Munster romping to

:09:11. > :09:17.victory against Connacht. You may have seen that. Depending on what

:09:18. > :09:19.happens with Ulster and Leinster, these decisions being taken in the

:09:20. > :09:28.last day of the Guinness PRO12 competition. Who will take the

:09:29. > :09:32.Glasgow Cup. That will be the decision here, the 1872 trophy. A

:09:33. > :09:45.bit of an arm wrestle. Screaming for a high tackle again.

:09:46. > :09:49.That is from the home crowd, of course. Lee Jones will go in at

:09:50. > :09:59.scrum-half. Fraser Brown has other ideas. This time it comes out. Ali

:10:00. > :10:03.Price has extricated himself. The penalty is coming. The penalty has

:10:04. > :10:08.been given. Edinburgh again, not rolling away. He will not be an

:10:09. > :10:15.Edinburgh's Christmas card list, Mike Adamson. Glasgow just go for

:10:16. > :10:17.the corner. You can hear the clear instruction, once the tackle is

:10:18. > :10:22.made, you have to roll away immediately. I think Glasgow should

:10:23. > :10:29.go for the corner. Hogg will go for the corner. He is launching it in,

:10:30. > :10:30.five metres out. Direct in the line-out will be on the five metre

:10:31. > :10:45.mark. Just about coming to the 50 minute

:10:46. > :10:50.mark, which might be the point we're looking at substitutes being

:10:51. > :10:55.certainly by Glasgow. If they were to score here, I suspected my taste

:10:56. > :11:02.in the changes because the game would be done and dusted. In terms

:11:03. > :11:10.of the two ties. It's all very untidy and Edinburgh have turned it.

:11:11. > :11:15.That will be another to the capital city side, because they are working

:11:16. > :11:23.extremely hard, the pack has worked its socks off collectively today.

:11:24. > :11:34.Credit to Ben Toolis, who was in the middle of that pile. He's justifying

:11:35. > :11:39.his position in the Dream Team. He was right in the middle of that, he

:11:40. > :11:50.made all the effort. The Edinburgh team swarmed around. Tim Swinson is

:11:51. > :11:57.coming on. Rob Harley suffering from a right arm injury, carrying his

:11:58. > :12:01.right arm gingerly. It seems he's either twisted it or maybe up to his

:12:02. > :12:11.shoulder. Certainly carrying his right arm. Swenson is packing down

:12:12. > :12:16.on the flank. Pretty good unit to go in on the blindside, we don't see

:12:17. > :12:21.him off and on the blindside. He adds weight to the Glasgow pack.

:12:22. > :12:26.He's thinking, what would go through your mind in the Edinburgh pack, if

:12:27. > :12:34.you saw Swanson going off, you'd think good, then you saw him

:12:35. > :12:35.lumbering on. Mr consistent in the Glasgow team, overlooked in terms of

:12:36. > :12:45.credit. Didn't have a conspicuous evening

:12:46. > :12:56.against Dragons, if I can put it that way. He's due a contribution to

:12:57. > :13:04.Edinburgh. Hidalgo-Clyne hoists it. It takes, spins, dances.

:13:05. > :13:12.Out to Swenson, moves the ball to Russell, who saw the gap, felt the

:13:13. > :13:29.gap. Still keeps it alive. Left again. Chris Fusaro. A range of

:13:30. > :13:34.Glasgow players lined up. Fagerson number eight. Here is Hogg. He was

:13:35. > :13:40.caught, just tap tackled by the ankles, just caught him. Otherwise

:13:41. > :13:46.he was away, home and running. Edinburgh have it, they have sneaked

:13:47. > :13:51.it, taken it. Bryce. They have a chance here. Du Preez. Plenty of

:13:52. > :14:00.air. Now there is a foot chase. Hoyland has plenty of gas. He is

:14:01. > :14:07.exposed on his own. Now they are with them. Slack pass. Toolis tidies

:14:08. > :14:11.up, takes it in, wonderful break from Edinburgh. They've won the

:14:12. > :14:22.penalty as well. Glasgow penalised for not rolling away. And they are

:14:23. > :14:27.asking for more. Tremendous break, they knew their numbers were over.

:14:28. > :14:31.Hoyland spotted the huge gap, fortunate with the bounds, then John

:14:32. > :14:37.Hardie, as all good support flankers would be, is on the hit for that

:14:38. > :14:44.supportive pass. The tackle came in from Peter Horne. He couldn't get

:14:45. > :14:51.himself out. It was Damien Hoyland that got away. As you were dealing

:14:52. > :14:54.with that, the referee Mike Adamson had a long chat with Grant

:14:55. > :14:57.Gilchrist, as he did with Jonny Gray in the first half, telling him he

:14:58. > :15:00.was hearing too much from the rest of his players he wants all the

:15:01. > :15:05.communication channels through him as captain. You will always get the

:15:06. > :15:10.number of voices in an intercity match like this. Going back to

:15:11. > :15:16.Edinburgh, getting that turnover position, the lack of accuracy,

:15:17. > :15:19.Glasgow attacking on the far 22. The lost ball, which allowed the

:15:20. > :15:23.break-out for Edinburgh. From an attacking perspective from Glasgow,

:15:24. > :15:29.suddenly Edinburgh have the opportunity to extend the lead. The

:15:30. > :15:35.blonde in the stand is Mr Lamont. I didn't recognise him with his new

:15:36. > :15:39.hairstyle, his 80s hairstyle. At least... Great servant to Scottish

:15:40. > :15:43.rugby though. If you were watching in black and white, he was the one

:15:44. > :15:46.on the left. Duncan Weir for a chance to keep Edinburgh within

:15:47. > :16:05.reach of Glasgow's overall total. Another almighty thump from Duncan

:16:06. > :16:12.Weir and he's cracked it again. What a display of goalkeeping this is by

:16:13. > :16:19.the wee fella. He got all the points in the first one as well. We'll

:16:20. > :16:25.catch up with some changes, Gordon Reid coming off. He'll get an

:16:26. > :16:29.almighty ovation cost of the crowd has realised Gordon Reid was coming

:16:30. > :16:46.off. Zander Fagerson has also come off. His last game. Ali Price has

:16:47. > :17:01.come off as well. Hogg takes meanwhile. The crash ball from

:17:02. > :17:11.Swenson. Hidalgo-Clyne into Weir, Weir at pace. Slack pass, they

:17:12. > :17:18.overran him. Kinghorn. Kinghorn takes off at twice the speed, no

:17:19. > :17:21.wonder he overran him. Glasgow's infringement, they are cranking up,

:17:22. > :17:29.they couldn't afford a yellow card here. They really can't. Glasgow's

:17:30. > :17:32.mistakes benefiting Edinburgh. Getting themselves into territory,

:17:33. > :17:38.Edinburgh. The first ten minutes they were pinned down in their own

:17:39. > :17:43.22. Alex Dunbar comes from an offside position, spoils position

:17:44. > :17:47.for Edinburgh. Popping one right into the corner. Great kick. Duncan

:17:48. > :17:52.Weir is going to need a new right leg tomorrow because he has hammered

:17:53. > :17:57.that. He's giving it everything against the wind now, keeping

:17:58. > :18:06.Edinburgh ahead in this game tonight. They are catching up

:18:07. > :18:14.slowly. Still a long way to go. In terms of the cup anyway. 36-27 the

:18:15. > :18:22.aggregate score now. Edinburgh have it and it would be very interesting

:18:23. > :18:31.if they could breach the Glasgow and -- Glasgow line. Hidalgo-Clyne comes

:18:32. > :18:36.out. Rasolea, quick pass to Kinghorn. Trapped and driven back.

:18:37. > :18:46.Passing into Mike Adams. They've tidied it up and off they go again.

:18:47. > :18:57.Gilchrist, it's almost like last week against the Dragons, where he

:18:58. > :19:01.took Edinburgh to victory. They were in the red area when they took the

:19:02. > :19:06.penalty. Still plenty of time to turn this around.

:19:07. > :19:10.Toolis. They are finding it easier to play against the wind than they

:19:11. > :19:24.did with it chance for Edinburgh, but they were

:19:25. > :19:36.exposed. A chance here. Hoyland scores. Wonderful things, Scott

:19:37. > :19:41.Hastings. Wasn't Hoyland superb? That is the attacking threat of the

:19:42. > :19:44.young man. Remember watching him score a hat-trick of tries at

:19:45. > :19:50.Twickenham in the Scotland sevens, that was as good as anything. Ducked

:19:51. > :19:56.under the tackles of the covering defence. Edinburgh have come here to

:19:57. > :20:07.spoil a party. The party bloopers it again. Look at that, that is sevens

:20:08. > :20:09.intuition. The defence drifting across in front of you, skip inside

:20:10. > :20:18.and through. Stuart Hall, beaten on the inside,

:20:19. > :20:22.probably one of his weaknesses in this game is his inside tackle. His

:20:23. > :20:30.head might not be quite with it. Damien Hoyland was shot because he

:20:31. > :20:42.eyed the try line. If this goes over Edinburgh are within a point of

:20:43. > :20:55.Glasgow. Two points. Duncan Weir has nailed it. What an exhibition.

:20:56. > :21:00.Taking them to within two points. This was a fabulous piece of work by

:21:01. > :21:03.Hoyland. Absolutely, numbers there, he stepped off that right foot, that

:21:04. > :21:12.was his strength, that was the sparkle. Game on in the 1872 's cup.

:21:13. > :21:19.The overall score is 36-34 for Glasgow. We did, to be fair to the

:21:20. > :21:30.panel, picked out Hoyland at the start of the game as a potential

:21:31. > :21:34.matchwinner. He certainly turned it. Here they come again. It's given

:21:35. > :21:46.Edinburgh a huge lift, a huge test of Glasgow's character. Du Preez,

:21:47. > :21:53.Rasolea, Duncan Weir. Cut inside. Kinghorn loitering, Glasgow have

:21:54. > :21:58.stolen it. How many penalties is the referee going to allow them? He was

:21:59. > :22:08.pretty keen on going to his pocket when it was the red zone. Cut it

:22:09. > :22:14.out. I'm surprised the referee... Duncan Weir has gone down the line,

:22:15. > :22:20.his skipper is sitting down, he's got another injury in midfield.

:22:21. > :22:28.We'll check out what he's done with the kick. He's made a mistake with

:22:29. > :22:36.the kick. He's made a mistake. His first mistake of the day. George

:22:37. > :22:43.Turner number 20 is limping. Grant Gilchrist the Edinburgh captain.

:22:44. > :22:48.That have a look, difficult from this angle. The linesman is right on

:22:49. > :22:55.the corner flag, he had an ideal view of that. The touch judge...

:22:56. > :23:05.What a poor mistake from Duncan Weir. It's been immaculate in terms

:23:06. > :23:13.of performance, that one has let Glasgow off the hook. Glasgow making

:23:14. > :23:25.another change, we have Adam Ashe coming on.

:23:26. > :23:33.We just apologise if any of you were lip-reading and may have interpreted

:23:34. > :23:38.something someone said a few moments ago, our apologies for that. It

:23:39. > :23:47.might have been someone with number ten on his back. Wearing a red

:23:48. > :23:54.shirt. Nick Greg and Adam Ashe warming up on the touchline. For

:23:55. > :23:58.Glasgow the cavalry is arriving, the blonde is being held back.

:23:59. > :24:01.Interesting attack line from Glasgow, Glasgow got their full-back

:24:02. > :24:07.division strung out across the entire width of the pitch. Will they

:24:08. > :24:16.go for a counterattack from deep? They have arranged out the whole

:24:17. > :24:21.width of the Glasgow pitch. Yet it comes, let's see how far it comes

:24:22. > :24:31.out the line. Just about there. Peter Horne turned inside, had a

:24:32. > :24:40.look at Hogg outside. These are the moments that will decide this cup

:24:41. > :24:44.tie. Just a fact I've remembered, this is Edinburgh's first appearance

:24:45. > :24:52.on this surface here. They are beginning to like it, I think.

:24:53. > :25:04.Glasgow trying to work the ball free. It's just spoiling the party

:25:05. > :25:09.at the moment. Edinburgh have played Glasgow in a way at their own game

:25:10. > :25:14.by turning it on them. Glasgow, we know, are ferociously good in the

:25:15. > :25:19.last ten minutes or thereabouts. There is still a bit more than that

:25:20. > :25:22.to come. Peter Horne. Hogg in space. With pace. Bumps Rasolea out of the

:25:23. > :25:37.way. The captain has done it once, Jonny

:25:38. > :25:46.Gray, can he do it again? Pyrgos goes to the right. This time, the

:25:47. > :25:51.referee, it is easier for him. Really untidy around the breakdown.

:25:52. > :25:59.There is only one thing going to happen here. It is too far for a

:26:00. > :26:07.kick at the posts. He is going to have a go. He is going to have a go.

:26:08. > :26:17.I saw it as he realised he was not that far right. He is not quite

:26:18. > :26:25.halfway to the ten metre mark. I have noticed, the wind is not as

:26:26. > :26:35.strong. Look at the flags. The flags are down. Hogg has this within his

:26:36. > :26:38.sights. He fancies it. This is a big kick in more than one way. Stuart

:26:39. > :26:54.Hogg. Too short. The wind has caught it.

:26:55. > :27:02.The wind caught it. It was actually pretty good for distance. The

:27:03. > :27:08.direction was slightly askew. The referee is allowing Glasgow to make

:27:09. > :27:12.the change. Jonny Gray, the captain. No, there are lots of them coming

:27:13. > :27:21.this way to catch the ball. It is young Fagerson. Nick Grigg is on,

:27:22. > :27:30.Chris Fusaro, it is Chris Fusaro and Peter Horne who are coming off.

:27:31. > :27:35.Let's see if Glasgow can bring fresh legs to the party. This is Hogg,

:27:36. > :27:51.upset he did not put that -- over. Two British Lions on the

:27:52. > :27:57.far side. The last 20 minutes is one of the better areas for Glasgow in

:27:58. > :28:00.terms of time. They reckon they can run the legs of people. Sean Lamont

:28:01. > :28:06.is warming up behind the goals to the left. They have gone for the

:28:07. > :28:10.quick kick up the touchline. You get the feeling they think they will

:28:11. > :28:15.make a mark. The crowd are getting behind the team, so you're right,

:28:16. > :28:18.very much so. In the last 20 minutes, Glasgow are good at turning

:28:19. > :28:22.the screw. They know how to close out games. It will take something

:28:23. > :28:32.special to win this one. The line-out was not contested by

:28:33. > :28:40.Edinburgh. They waited until they got them on the ground. Blasting

:28:41. > :28:45.through, or over the line. Has the ball been grounded? That is the

:28:46. > :28:55.issue. Glasgow will claim this for everything it is worth. That is the

:28:56. > :29:11.debris. Somewhere in the air is the ball. Tried, yes no. OK, checking.

:29:12. > :29:15.Checking the yes no. The position of the referee was number one, but he

:29:16. > :29:21.was unsure of whether Tommy Seymour got the ball in contact with the

:29:22. > :29:24.grads. It is a classic Seymour intervention, coming in at that

:29:25. > :29:31.angle, straight at the pose. Here we go. Look at Tommy Seymour coming in

:29:32. > :29:37.at a rate of knots. You love Seymour running that angle, don't you? You

:29:38. > :29:42.gain so much. And despite the attentions of George Turner. That is

:29:43. > :29:48.not down. I do not think that is down. I think Damien Hoyland, who

:29:49. > :29:56.scored at one end, may have saved them. I have a decision for you. It

:29:57. > :30:10.was held up. Note I? Held up, no try. -- no try. At least 5000 people

:30:11. > :30:16.do not like that. I know the crowd is officially 7531. I am not sure

:30:17. > :30:22.how many of them are from the other end of the MA it. Mike Adamson and

:30:23. > :30:27.the TMO, quite rightly. It looks like that was held up. -- from the

:30:28. > :30:29.other end of the motorway. That is the second disallowed try Glasgow

:30:30. > :30:44.have had. This is a big scrum. Absolutely, but

:30:45. > :30:48.Glasgow love to attack down the right-hand channel. Hogg is standing

:30:49. > :30:54.behind Finn Russell, and on the far side, you have Tommy Seymour. And

:30:55. > :31:01.Grigg, who is just electric. He is on 22 metre line. Edinburgh doing

:31:02. > :31:11.their best to hold them. Russell, inside. This time there is no doubt

:31:12. > :31:15.whatsoever. That is as clean a score as you would want from Stuart Hogg.

:31:16. > :31:19.It is interesting, I knew the move was coming, but what made it was the

:31:20. > :31:24.depth of past from Finn Russell because Hogg held his line so when

:31:25. > :31:34.you are in a defensive position, it is hard to read. Do you commit an

:31:35. > :31:41.coming? It is a brilliantly executed move. Rasolea got caught. Stuart

:31:42. > :31:46.Hogg is a great player. That is a massive score, not just in terms of

:31:47. > :31:51.tonight. It has brought Glasgow back in overall terms and has opened up

:31:52. > :31:55.the gap. Finn Russell has a difficult chance to extend that. A

:31:56. > :32:12.chance to extend the aggregate lead. He has hit the post and it has gone

:32:13. > :32:17.in. You make your luck, and when it goes for you, it certainly goes for

:32:18. > :32:24.you. The Glasgow supporters have suddenly got something to cheer

:32:25. > :32:29.about. Glasgow have had a couple of chances but their accuracy and

:32:30. > :32:33.execution were superb. Sean Lamont, with the number 23 jersey, he has

:32:34. > :32:49.raised lots of money for charity because of his here do. -- because

:32:50. > :32:55.he got his hair done. Number 23, for the final time, Sean Lamont. Not

:32:56. > :33:00.many players get a standing ovation when they come on. That is what

:33:01. > :33:08.happened. Grant Gilchrist has left for Edinburgh at the other end. The

:33:09. > :33:14.running total, ?7,200 for the haircut. That is what it has raised

:33:15. > :33:22.for the hearts and balls helping rugby charity and the Glasgow

:33:23. > :33:26.hospital children's charity as well. There is a chance for Edinburgh. He

:33:27. > :33:37.has been pulled back. Hidalgo-Clyne, just pulled back. The blood injury

:33:38. > :33:42.here. You would not bet against Sean Lamont scoring or doing something.

:33:43. > :33:48.He will certainly be up for it. Glasgow are going to get some

:33:49. > :33:55.territory, though. The knock-on, from Hidalgo-Clyne. He has put

:33:56. > :34:00.himself about tonight. He is one of the men who would be looking for a

:34:01. > :34:07.possible ticket to Australia, on the fringe, but he has not had the best

:34:08. > :34:13.of seasons. Very much so. And emotional time for these players.

:34:14. > :34:21.The likes of Sean Larman, and Puafisi. Josh Strauss. Peter

:34:22. > :34:26.Murchie. There is lots of a motion for Glasgow. I feel like they may be

:34:27. > :34:32.caught up in that winners Edinburgh have come here determined to do a

:34:33. > :34:35.job, to spoil the party. You must give Edinburgh some credit for

:34:36. > :34:40.hanging in, throwing themselves into the tackle. The defence has been

:34:41. > :34:45.good. Duncan Weir has played superbly. They are trying to attack

:34:46. > :34:48.from deep. It is not the best game in the world, but full of

:34:49. > :34:53.fascination. One of the best examples I have seen of Edinburgh

:34:54. > :34:57.having a game plan and executing it. They stuck to what they were doing

:34:58. > :35:02.because it worked, and the thwarted Glasgow at every turn. They got

:35:03. > :35:06.themselves to within a one score range because of the aggregate but

:35:07. > :35:12.they have depended so much on the boot of this man. It has limited

:35:13. > :35:18.them. Five penalties and a conversion. It has been good to

:35:19. > :35:23.watch. This was magic from Finn Russell and Hogg. So difficult to

:35:24. > :35:28.defend but the execution was superb. I do not think Jonny Gray wants to

:35:29. > :35:33.leave the pitch. That is the second time they have patched him up on the

:35:34. > :35:38.pitch. He will want to see this one out. It is a big night for Hamas

:35:39. > :35:44.joined skipper. The two skippers Varane. Henry Pyrgos, the kind of

:35:45. > :35:50.person you would need to steady the ship, to close out the game, the

:35:51. > :35:59.tie. Only four points behind on the night. Here they come again. Dunbar

:36:00. > :36:03.almost got away. If the game gets scrappy and open, it will only sit

:36:04. > :36:11.on team, really. Here they are. Fantastic. Sean Lamont. He is on his

:36:12. > :36:18.own. It took three of them to stop him. Actually, nearly 7000 people on

:36:19. > :36:27.their feet. They have a penalty coming as well. Russell knows that.

:36:28. > :36:32.He's trying to an opening. The game is beginning to open up. Stuart

:36:33. > :36:39.Hogg, insight, twice. Playing advantage, the penalties given.

:36:40. > :36:47.Pyrgos has a look. That was almost like a fairy tale.

:36:48. > :36:55.REFEREE: We have had one in the sin-bin in the first half. They are

:36:56. > :37:00.beginning to mind up again. Cut it out or someone else will go. Ross

:37:01. > :37:03.Ford is now obviously the captain of Edinburgh. The referee has warned

:37:04. > :37:09.him he does not want any more of this. I am sure the referee does not

:37:10. > :37:14.want to spoil the occasion. This is a pragmatic choice. Yes, but there

:37:15. > :37:19.is enough time on the clock to get three points, get the possession the

:37:20. > :37:26.kick-off. Glasgow, with their attacking players, Finn Russell,

:37:27. > :37:31.Dunbar showing good hands, then the lovely overhead pass from Stuart

:37:32. > :37:36.Hogg, into Sean Lamont. It was a joy to see Lamont in the open prairie.

:37:37. > :37:54.Finn Russell. He has missed it. He has missed it.

:37:55. > :37:59.To all intents and purposes, that was the easiest kick of the game.

:38:00. > :38:04.You would not have thought that. He just snatched it. Sean Kennedy is

:38:05. > :38:10.coming on for Edinburgh and Neil Cochrane is coming back. This is the

:38:11. > :38:15.last attack. Talk us through this. The temperature went up. Not in

:38:16. > :38:19.touch. It was Finn Russell and Stuart Hogg, they know each other

:38:20. > :38:27.well. The great thing about Russell, he brings in attacking players like

:38:28. > :38:31.Seymour, Dunbar and Hogg. Sean Kennedy is on for Hidalgo-Clyne. The

:38:32. > :38:38.crowd are shouting at Lamont to have a go, even if he is 70 metres away

:38:39. > :38:42.from the try-line. Ross Ford has left the field for Edinburgh. There

:38:43. > :38:48.will be another adjustment to the captaincy. Difficult times for

:38:49. > :38:53.Edinburgh. Emptying the bench, which is thin at the best of times.

:38:54. > :39:01.Glasgow throwing the ball around. Swinson takes it in. Pyrgos, the

:39:02. > :39:06.captain. There are beginning to cycle the ball at pace. This is more

:39:07. > :39:09.like Glasgow. Edinburgh tiring visibly. Ten minutes left. It could

:39:10. > :39:23.be a long ten minutes. Russell is pulling all the strings.

:39:24. > :39:29.That is a bad pass. Just a chance for Damien Hoyland. Hoyland is head

:39:30. > :39:34.and shoulders above the others when it comes to opportunism, pace,

:39:35. > :39:41.power. He looked the man with the most. Without a shadow of the doubt.

:39:42. > :39:45.I would like to see him back in the Scotland setup. Gregor Townsend, and

:39:46. > :39:52.Gavin Vaughan, the technical analyst. He is meant to be joining

:39:53. > :39:55.Gregor any Scotland setup. You just feel like Glasgow are gaining in

:39:56. > :40:00.confidence. The accuracy I talked about in the first half that was

:40:01. > :40:05.lacking is perhaps coming in the second half performance. It was Finn

:40:06. > :40:08.Russell's missed penalty that may determine the last ten minutes,

:40:09. > :40:15.where the final standing of this game goes. Confirmation aid is

:40:16. > :40:23.another sell-out attendance at Scotstoun. 7351. I love the

:40:24. > :40:28.precision of that, to be fair. Looking around, I do not think there

:40:29. > :40:33.is an empty seat in the place. Three very important or very notable

:40:34. > :40:41.figures. There is an empty seat. There is an empty seat behind --

:40:42. > :40:45.beside Pedro Caixinha. Perhaps his first signing for Rangers will

:40:46. > :40:50.occupy that seat. I hesitate to say this, but it is a green seat.

:40:51. > :41:05.The Glasgow fans begin to sense that they have the cup, if not the

:41:06. > :41:08.honours of the evening. Sean Kennedy... Glasgow feel they might

:41:09. > :41:16.have stolen it, but they haven't. It went horribly wrong after the first.

:41:17. > :41:22.Dean has looked a threat. Rasolea through the legs. It was practical

:41:23. > :41:31.and it worked, but it might not be the time to be starting that kind of

:41:32. > :41:36.stuff. Fraser McKenzie is on and Glasgow have another penalty.

:41:37. > :41:46.Possibly yellow, is it? Just a little bit of... Jonny Gray looks

:41:47. > :41:53.like he's going to have a look. I want to check for foul play, read

:41:54. > :41:59.11, arriving at that line. Read 11 is Blair Kinghorn going into the

:42:00. > :42:04.breakdown. -- red 11. I guess Stuart Hogg is licking his lips waiting for

:42:05. > :42:09.that decision, to have another go. We'll have a look at the foul play,

:42:10. > :42:15.the potential foul play. One player you wouldn't expect to be a dirty

:42:16. > :42:24.sort of player. I don't quite know if it was a loose arm or loose foot.

:42:25. > :42:27.Let's watch here. You know, when you consider Hogg missed his previous

:42:28. > :42:33.kick when Finn Russell missed that kick in front of post, there were

:42:34. > :42:38.six points. The wind is back, it's got up again. Let's have a look.

:42:39. > :42:45.This is the incident we're having a look at, going to see you.

:42:46. > :42:53.We've got nothing on the clips here, we're going to have to go with what

:42:54. > :42:57.you've got on the field. There is no evidence, no evidence, I suspect

:42:58. > :43:01.it'll leave the referee with no option but to give the penalty and

:43:02. > :43:12.stick with that. That's it. This time... What do I know. The corner.

:43:13. > :43:17.Having said that, this is a Glasgow way, let's go and win the game.

:43:18. > :43:24.Listen to the way the crowd react to that positive intent. Greg Townsend

:43:25. > :43:31.will have trained all the way to the season for these moments. Still

:43:32. > :43:35.eight minutes, Glasgow have won matches with much more than the last

:43:36. > :43:41.eight minutes. Here we go. There is a chance for Edinburgh. Fancy pass

:43:42. > :43:47.again. Hoyland, when he's taken down. Fair enough by Russell. He's

:43:48. > :43:53.gone straight to hog and Stuart Hogg turns right into the traffic. He

:43:54. > :43:55.knew there was help available. They've come back down the left-hand

:43:56. > :44:14.side. Scott coming. Out to Russell. Short

:44:15. > :44:26.path into the blonde. Pyrgos calling for more beside him. Puafisi takes a

:44:27. > :44:32.bit of stopping. And again, just the pressure building up, Edinburgh need

:44:33. > :44:41.to stand firm here. Deliberate slap, I would suspect. In front of the

:44:42. > :44:47.referee. He's given it the other way. The offside first. Accidental

:44:48. > :44:57.offside before that. Simon Berghan was lucky there. He was lucky but he

:44:58. > :45:05.explained it. You can see their hairband. Jonny Gray... Heatedly got

:45:06. > :45:09.his hand in their illegally. The previous infringement came from the

:45:10. > :45:17.Glasgow captain standing in an offside position, which shielded the

:45:18. > :45:21.screen pass. Still two Lions on the pitch. Good on them, I must say,

:45:22. > :45:30.they are fully committed to their club, put it that way. You just

:45:31. > :45:35.wouldn't bank against Edinburgh doing something spectacular from

:45:36. > :45:39.there. It would be just typical of the way they've played. They haven't

:45:40. > :45:45.started some games till about this time. The last game against the

:45:46. > :45:48.Dragons being a good example. Absolutely. The previous game

:45:49. > :45:54.against Connacht as well, when they came from behind and didn't quite

:45:55. > :45:57.get over the line. Their performance certainly, this has been a better

:45:58. > :46:01.performance from them. They've come here with a game plan, the defence

:46:02. > :46:13.has been good, they've rattled this Glasgow team and really hung in

:46:14. > :46:19.there. Sean Kennedy has got it in now. He's waiting, hoping it'll come

:46:20. > :46:34.out the other end. There we go. Du Preez delivers. They've made ground

:46:35. > :46:38.already. Will they go the whole way? They got the whole length of the

:46:39. > :46:41.pitch to go. This is what they did against the Dragons, they worked

:46:42. > :46:52.their way up. They've still got five minutes left. Toolis dives. Duncan

:46:53. > :46:55.Weir hoists one. Other go straight up and down because the wind will

:46:56. > :47:00.take it back. Lamont in underneath it. They all missed it. Forward to

:47:01. > :47:07.Finn Russell. Trying to keep it forward. There is a huge gap year,

:47:08. > :47:12.occupied by Seymour. It is flattened. Because he didn't make

:47:13. > :47:15.any ground, he was on his own. He had no help whatsoever. Penalty to

:47:16. > :47:21.Edinburgh. They made 30 or 40 metres there. Absolutely, we've been

:47:22. > :47:28.talking about the wind drifting in and out. I wonder if Duncan Weir

:47:29. > :47:36.fancies one. I doubt it from here, he's going down the line. Sensible

:47:37. > :47:47.play from Weir, he ran out of numbers. Today Glasgow lead

:47:48. > :47:52.Edinburgh 43-34. They have a 9-point advantage over the two gains

:47:53. > :47:58.Edinburgh are currently leading. -- two gameness. Back-to-back victories

:47:59. > :48:04.against Edinburgh, who would have said that two weeks ago? Maybe

:48:05. > :48:07.within this disaster of a season for Edinburgh there is a bushel of light

:48:08. > :48:14.that will take them into next season. A glass of red wine being

:48:15. > :48:23.taken in France. Watching the new coach, he might be thinking it's a

:48:24. > :48:33.good idea after all. Cochran to deliver. Toolis. Now they have a

:48:34. > :48:41.rumble. Ten metres out. Here they come, here they come. Sean Kennedy

:48:42. > :48:48.marshalling his men at the back will stop another body added. Hoyland

:48:49. > :48:51.died in. -- dived in. It's gone to ground and Glasgow have won it,

:48:52. > :48:58.they've won it on the ground. This means a lot to both teams. They are

:48:59. > :49:03.giving it everything they've got. Glasgow are going to have to come up

:49:04. > :49:14.with some fantastic play if they are to score at the other end. A wee

:49:15. > :49:21.chat, con flab with the guys in the middle. Nick Gruden is passing the

:49:22. > :49:26.message out. I was going to say first and foremost, I think Pyrgos

:49:27. > :49:30.will hit Will Grigg, once he hits the ball at pace he is a tough man

:49:31. > :49:34.to stop. He's got Stuart Hogg outside him, then Tommy Seymour is a

:49:35. > :49:43.way out at the corner flag. Here they go. Manoeuvred into the middle,

:49:44. > :49:49.two minutes left. Glasgow need to go the whole way, the whole length of

:49:50. > :49:55.the pitch, to win this game tonight. It's either clever or suicidal, take

:49:56. > :50:06.your pick. Awful bother, awful bother. They won't say thank you for

:50:07. > :50:10.that. I think is advocated what could have happened wide out and as

:50:11. > :50:17.a result it is an overhead pass that has put Seymour under real pressure.

:50:18. > :50:27.I thought they could do something with Will Grigg in the middle. The

:50:28. > :50:37.clock is running. A minute and a smidgen left. Edinburgh five metres

:50:38. > :50:49.out. Burrowing through and driving through. Duncan Weir instructing.

:50:50. > :50:54.Kinghorn is going left. Glasgow have plenty of men over there. I suspect

:50:55. > :51:02.they need to come this way. Hoyland is stretching them down. Rasolea is

:51:03. > :51:07.15 metres. Sean Kennedy. Yet they come again, Edinburgh. Jamie Ritchie

:51:08. > :51:15.took it in. They are just about there. 17 is Murray McCallum. Du

:51:16. > :51:27.Preez this time. Duncan Weir. Sean Kennedy. And that's it. Kennedy

:51:28. > :51:35.again. Bryce. This time there is no doubt... Bryce has broken the line

:51:36. > :51:42.with ten seconds left. Glenn Bryce! Has put Edinburgh back... Scott

:51:43. > :51:49.Cummings you could not make this up. However, I think the clock has

:51:50. > :51:58.beaten them. Absolutely, but once again the step Bryce. Edinburgh have

:51:59. > :52:01.come here to play. They have fully justified it. I just don't think

:52:02. > :52:04.Glasgow have played with enough territory in the second half without

:52:05. > :52:08.any shadow of a doubt, Edinburgh have stayed focused, stayed with the

:52:09. > :52:14.game plan. One player we've not mentioned a lot is the blindside

:52:15. > :52:23.flanker Jamie Ritchie, it's been a team performance. It 18-20 on

:52:24. > :52:25.tonight's match on aggregate. 43-39 on aggregate. This will be the last

:52:26. > :52:47.kick of the match from Duncan Weir. Duncan Weir... He deserves that,

:52:48. > :52:53.Duncan Weir. Superb effort from Duncan Weir. Edinburgh have won

:52:54. > :52:57.tonight's match, they have won back-to-back victories in the

:52:58. > :53:02.Guinness Pro12 18-29. Let's go to Andy Nichol on the touchline for his

:53:03. > :53:08.decision on man of the match. For Glasgow Scott Cummings and Mark

:53:09. > :53:15.figures and have outstanding games. -- Matt Fagerson. Scoring a try and

:53:16. > :53:21.saving a try, Tommy Seymour, my goodness, man of the match. My man

:53:22. > :53:25.of the match is Edinburgh's Damien Hoyland. Damien Hoyland is man of

:53:26. > :53:30.the match. To be honest there was plenty of choice for man of the

:53:31. > :53:33.match, it's not an easy decision to night, watching what Duncan Weir

:53:34. > :53:38.did, if you guys stuck their hands up. Full credit, they stuck to their

:53:39. > :53:44.guns, Edinburgh, they came here with a game plan. I'd be fascinated to

:53:45. > :53:49.listen to Duncan Hodge. He's had such a tough time as temporary head

:53:50. > :53:53.coach. As I said, maybe a little bushel of light for Edinburgh, then

:53:54. > :53:56.they can take it to next season. I'm sure Richard Cockerill will have

:53:57. > :54:00.kept one eye on this particular game. It always intends between

:54:01. > :54:03.these teams, I've played in many a game between Glasgow and Edinburgh

:54:04. > :54:08.and that rivalry sometimes takes you over the line. Edinburgh fully

:54:09. > :54:12.justified their win. As Gregor Townsend said at the start, there

:54:13. > :54:19.was so much peripheral stuff going on, not anything untoward, but the

:54:20. > :54:23.sense of occasion, players leaving. There was so much on people's

:54:24. > :54:30.minds... The rugby almost became secondary. There is a lot going on

:54:31. > :54:34.in Scottish rugby, Glasgow Warriors as a brand is undoubtedly the bushel

:54:35. > :54:37.within this environment. To get through the quarterfinals to miss

:54:38. > :54:41.out on a play-off place, to see their excellence and the selection

:54:42. > :54:46.not only of players for the likes of Stuart Hogg, Tommy Seymour, but for

:54:47. > :54:50.Edinburgh rugby it is a new chapter they must go on as well. Glasgow

:54:51. > :54:55.Rugby are also going to go on it as well. Superb afternoon one Way Or

:54:56. > :54:58.Another. It isn't finished yet. This is how it's finished tonight.

:54:59. > :55:07.Glasgow 18-29 Edinburgh. We're with man of the match Damien

:55:08. > :55:10.Hoyland, couple of key moments for you in the match and a great

:55:11. > :55:14.performance from Edinburgh. When Jonny Gray scored on half time you

:55:15. > :55:20.must have wondered whether game was going. Yeah... Sorry. Have you got

:55:21. > :55:24.any breath? Coming into the game but we knew it was about energy, effort,

:55:25. > :55:30.everything else comes second. When he came in at half-time, you could

:55:31. > :55:34.see... We had two guys in the sin-bin, to defend what we did fight

:55:35. > :55:38.that much for that try in the first half, it was credit to us. Going

:55:39. > :55:42.into half-time we knew we could still come back and push hard when

:55:43. > :55:46.we had guys coming back on out of the sin-bin. And glad you said

:55:47. > :55:48.bloody hell and not something else. You perform well second half. Your

:55:49. > :55:58.try was hugely important. It was just energy. We came out and

:55:59. > :56:03.the wind was tough. We knew we had to keep the ball in hand. I am not

:56:04. > :56:07.sure what happened with the try. I thought about passing but I did not.

:56:08. > :56:12.The game could've gone either way. Lee Jones put a foot in touch, he

:56:13. > :56:18.could and scored. You had a try saving tackle on Tommy Seymour as

:56:19. > :56:22.well. Again, it is those things. He was unlucky with his foot in touch,

:56:23. > :56:27.John. It could have turned the game but we did not lose focus. From the

:56:28. > :56:32.start of the game, we knew we needed energy to beat them. Credit to

:56:33. > :56:37.Glasgow, they made it difficult. It shows why they are top side. But for

:56:38. > :56:42.us, no matter who we play against, coming to Scotstoun and beating

:56:43. > :56:47.Glasgow, we have not done that in a long time. No matter what team they

:56:48. > :56:50.are, they struggle to do it. If we can play like that for the rest of

:56:51. > :56:57.the year, next year, we will be sweet. You're the man of the match,

:56:58. > :56:59.the Guinness man of the match. Stuart Liddell will present you with

:57:00. > :57:13.your medal. Well done. COMMENTATOR: These are the scenes at

:57:14. > :57:17.the end of an epic contest. Both teams have had differing fortunes at

:57:18. > :57:21.differing times. They have ended up sixth and ninth in the Guinness

:57:22. > :57:27.PRO12 respectively. There is only one way for Edinburgh. Tonight, we

:57:28. > :57:33.have seen, Scott, that there is some hope and progress. There is a big

:57:34. > :57:38.smile on the captain's face. Duncan Hodge looks like a man who is much

:57:39. > :57:43.relieved. 34 weeks ago, you would not have put money on licking at any

:57:44. > :57:50.Edinburgh people in a red smiling like that. Absolutely. In any sport,

:57:51. > :57:55.winning is absolutely everything. It gives you confidence and momentum.

:57:56. > :57:59.We have seen it in Glasgow in their winning seasons, in their European

:58:00. > :58:04.campaign, it gives you momentum to go forward. Edinburgh desperately

:58:05. > :58:09.needed this. They had a good run in Europe as well. Let's not forget

:58:10. > :58:11.that. It has been a terribly disappointing domestic season for

:58:12. > :58:15.them but they can come out with a little bit of credit, more credit

:58:16. > :58:20.than several weeks ago, as you mentioned. Another issue is the

:58:21. > :58:26.potential of some of these guys getting a ticket to go to Australia.

:58:27. > :58:31.That will be much clearer on Monday. Did anyone stick their hand out

:58:32. > :58:35.today and say, Gregor, I need to go down under? Damien Hoyland, the man

:58:36. > :58:42.of the match. He got involved in the game and came in from the wing. I

:58:43. > :58:49.try saving tackle, a tremendous step and score in the corner. A couple of

:58:50. > :58:53.good breaks from Chris Dean? Yes, but ultimately I think you'll see

:58:54. > :58:58.the majority of the Glasgow team go on the tour, Alex Dunbar, Peter

:58:59. > :59:05.Horne, great to see back, Ali Price to experience. Gregor Townsend will

:59:06. > :59:10.take on Italy then Australia, then Fiji, then in the autumn series,

:59:11. > :59:16.Australia, New Zealand, Samoa, it is some set of fixtures, but if he can

:59:17. > :59:20.bring excitement back into the Scottish rugby camp that Vern Cotter

:59:21. > :59:25.has undoubtedly seeded, it is exciting times for Scottish rugby.

:59:26. > :59:30.The next thing for Edinburgh is to put in the building blocks. There is

:59:31. > :59:38.talk of Robbie Frink, big names, big signings, momentum of the field.

:59:39. > :59:41.There are some exciting young guys. When you consider that WP Nel has

:59:42. > :59:48.not been involved this season, Ali Dickinson, they have had injuries.

:59:49. > :59:51.For me, they need to reinvent themselves, to understand what it

:59:52. > :59:54.means to play for Edinburgh. They have shown that there is more heart

:59:55. > :59:59.than perhaps I was questioning a couple of weeks ago. They have

:00:00. > :00:02.certainly increased the effort, the game plan seems to have come

:00:03. > :00:07.together towards the end of the season. As you say, there is nothing

:00:08. > :00:11.like winning, back-to-back victories, against albeit the

:00:12. > :00:14.Dragons, but certainly against Glasgow, on their first visit to the

:00:15. > :00:20.surface. Damien Hoyland mentioned that. That man in the middle, Sean

:00:21. > :00:26.Lamont, he has been a marvellous servant for Scottish rugby.

:00:27. > :00:34.Centurion. He is done tremendously well. They will keep them involved

:00:35. > :00:40.as a strength conditioning coach. The trophy presentation is about to

:00:41. > :00:46.take place. The famous Glasgow 1872 trophy. I was lucky to get my hands

:00:47. > :00:52.on that this afternoon. I had not manhandled it myself but it is a

:00:53. > :00:58.lovely silver piece. It will find a good home tonight. Preventing the

:00:59. > :01:02.trophy as Lesley Thomson, -- presenting the trophy as Lesley

:01:03. > :01:10.Thomson, the Scottish Solicitor General, the first female board

:01:11. > :01:16.member on the SRU. Presenting it to the two joint captains, Jonny Gray

:01:17. > :01:23.and Henry Pyrgos. The Warriors taking the cup by the narrowest

:01:24. > :01:26.possible margin of 43-41 over the two games. An outstanding

:01:27. > :01:32.contribution from Duncan Weir in terms of the Edinburgh scoring. It

:01:33. > :01:38.seemed like he could not miss and then he missed one kick,

:01:39. > :01:42.unfortunately. It was not to be. As one of the smallest rugby players on

:01:43. > :01:50.Scotland, he has taken off in front of the Glasgow team. He has found

:01:51. > :01:55.daddy, obviously. There is another one in the middle, Nippers appearing

:01:56. > :02:00.all over the place. They are the 1872 Cup winners for this year.

:02:01. > :02:05.Let's go to Rob Maclean, he has got Duncan Hodge with him.

:02:06. > :02:09.I make that two victories on the bounce. That gives you a real live

:02:10. > :02:13.that the end of the season? It is reward for the hard work that has

:02:14. > :02:18.gone in. It is late in the season but we showed a glimpse today of

:02:19. > :02:22.what we can do. We had to defend her massive amounts of the game, tough

:02:23. > :02:27.times, but to come away with the win, against the wind in the second

:02:28. > :02:33.half, phenomenal. To come back from the Jonny Gray try, that was a body

:02:34. > :02:38.blow and have time? It did worry us. Then turning around, and with the

:02:39. > :02:44.wind, it really hurt us. We stuck in really well. Did you wonder whether

:02:45. > :02:48.the script was written for a Gregor Townsend fairy tale ending? We were

:02:49. > :02:54.camped on their line, with several minutes to go, we did wonder. We did

:02:55. > :02:58.not have an off ball. When we did, we managed to keep it well and

:02:59. > :03:02.create chances. We got the penalties and forced them into touch and we

:03:03. > :03:07.got the ball. Well done, thank you. It looks like we're going to hear

:03:08. > :03:15.from the outgoing Glasgow coach, Gregor Townsend is going to address

:03:16. > :03:20.the crowd. Look, I know was Glasgow Warriors supporters, coaches and

:03:21. > :03:24.players, there is still lots of disappointment having lost today,

:03:25. > :03:28.but I want to congratulate Edinburgh on a committed performance, taking

:03:29. > :03:34.their chances in the second half, well played.

:03:35. > :03:42.I want to thank everyone here, tonight, everyone who has been on

:03:43. > :03:46.this journey since we moved to Scotstoun. We have created a really

:03:47. > :03:51.special club off the field, with the atmosphere you create, and the

:03:52. > :03:55.numbers that have started travelling to away games. The players

:03:56. > :03:58.appreciate it and they love playing for you and each other. We have got

:03:59. > :04:07.a really good group of players. APPLAUSE

:04:08. > :04:12.What has made it work for us over the last few years is the hard work

:04:13. > :04:15.of the players. They will be working really hard

:04:16. > :04:20.when they come back in the summer with the new coaching team, and I

:04:21. > :04:24.believe we will have much more success in the future. We have had

:04:25. > :04:29.lots of learning. Today is another one. Learning in the past,

:04:30. > :04:33.semifinals, this year the quarterfinal of the Champions Cup,

:04:34. > :04:38.losing, it has made us better team. The average age today was 24, 20

:04:39. > :04:45.five. Lots to be optimistic about the future. I wish you and players

:04:46. > :04:50.like. I will be here as a supporter in the future, getting right back in

:04:51. > :04:56.the team, but thanks for everything, it is really appreciated. Thank you.

:04:57. > :05:00.APPLAUSE COMMENTATOR: Predictably wise words

:05:01. > :05:11.from the coach. Well received by the crowd. I think we are now going to

:05:12. > :05:18.hear from Jonny Gray. We are hoping to get Stuart Hogg, in fact. We will

:05:19. > :05:21.be with him shortly. I just want to thank Edinburgh on a good

:05:22. > :05:25.performance and congratulate them on the victory. We are sorry we could

:05:26. > :05:29.not give you the victory today, but credit to Edinburgh, they were very

:05:30. > :05:37.physical, and they deserved the win in the end. Let's go to Rob Maclean

:05:38. > :05:40.and Stuart Hogg. Disappointed, it looked like he might turn it around

:05:41. > :05:46.in the end? I thought we were going to. Credit to Edinburgh, they were

:05:47. > :05:50.outstanding the whole day. We did not perform at our best and you can

:05:51. > :05:54.see that in the final result. Lots of sideshow going on, with fond

:05:55. > :05:59.farewells to players and coaches. Can that sometimes get in the way of

:06:00. > :06:03.your focus? Not at all. We wanted to send everyone away on a high and we

:06:04. > :06:07.have not been able to do that. Gregor has turned this team around.

:06:08. > :06:11.Unfortunately we are not giving them the sendoff they deserve. When you

:06:12. > :06:15.reflect on the season, the great European breakthrough, you reflect

:06:16. > :06:20.on the Gregor Townsend years as well, how much has he lifted the

:06:21. > :06:25.club? Massively, we get better and better, apart from this year, we

:06:26. > :06:28.have taken a little bit. It is disappointing that the season ends

:06:29. > :06:32.now. Normally we have another couple of weeks to go. That is the way the

:06:33. > :06:37.cookie crumbles and we will move on from that and learn next year. Good

:06:38. > :06:41.luck with the British lines. Thank you. Maybe a surprise that Stuart

:06:42. > :06:46.Hogg and Tommy Seymour lasted so long in the game. This is the final

:06:47. > :06:54.table. No change for Glasgow and Edinburgh. You can see the top four.

:06:55. > :07:04.Back to you, Rob. Thanks, Hugh Dan. Quite the game and quite a bit of

:07:05. > :07:08.encouragement at the end of the season, for Edinburgh, with a

:07:09. > :07:11.victory at Scotstoun today, and for spells in the game you did not see

:07:12. > :07:16.it coming? You have to take your hat off to them. They have stuck in.

:07:17. > :07:23.They came to spile the party and they have managed to do that. The

:07:24. > :07:26.atmosphere is quite subdued. It would have been nice to send Gregor

:07:27. > :07:31.away with the win, but Edinburgh has filed a party. They will build on

:07:32. > :07:37.this and hopefully come back stronger next year. There is a sense

:07:38. > :07:40.of anti-climax for the Glasgow fans. Everyone is in reflective mood, five

:07:41. > :07:46.years of Gregor Townsend. The story has been amazing? It has been great.

:07:47. > :07:51.We saw the motion. He will be gutted he did not get a victory today. They

:07:52. > :07:57.did not play well. Stuart Hogg said it. They were not the Glasgow we

:07:58. > :08:00.have seen over the years, with their accuracy and execution. Over the

:08:01. > :08:05.piece, he has done a great job. I am sure he will do a great job with

:08:06. > :08:08.Scotland. Exciting times for Scottish rugby. If Gregor Townsend

:08:09. > :08:15.can approve what Vern Cotter has already done. We know he will have

:08:16. > :08:18.to build on that. We were talking about Finn Russell, turning the game

:08:19. > :08:25.around. I do not think he managed the game well today. It went away

:08:26. > :08:28.from them at the end of the first half. Dunbar needed to step up more

:08:29. > :08:33.and go forward at Edinburgh. They are trying to play the beautiful

:08:34. > :08:38.game, the wide play, but you have to go forward before you can go wide.

:08:39. > :08:43.They fell into the trap. It is about learning. As long as they can learn,

:08:44. > :08:48.they have a tour this summer, they will not get much of a rest before

:08:49. > :08:54.they go on tour. Thanks to Alan Tate and Andy Nicol as well. Smiles from

:08:55. > :08:58.both today at the 1872 Cup for Glasgow but the badly needed victory

:08:59. > :09:03.for Edinburgh. I hope you have enjoyed the sun tinged action from

:09:04. > :09:05.Scotstoun. From all of us, goodbye.
