:00:28. > :00:35.It is the first game back after the Six Nations and Edinburgh welcome

:00:36. > :00:38.nine internationals into the squad. They go into this match having lost

:00:39. > :00:42.five games of the Pro12 so tonight is hugely important for Edinburgh as

:00:43. > :00:51.they travel to Llanelli Divis scholars. -- to face Scarlets.

:00:52. > :00:55.Good to have you with us. The Pro12 is back after a breathless Six

:00:56. > :00:58.Nations and we are delighted it is Andy Nicholas here with us, hugely

:00:59. > :01:02.important much for Edinburgh tonight because so far their form has been

:01:03. > :01:05.pretty poor, lost a lot of internationals away with the Six

:01:06. > :01:10.Nations but they need to get back on it tonight. They need to stop that,

:01:11. > :01:16.they are playing for pride for the rest of the season, they have big --

:01:17. > :01:19.a big European match next week so tonight is about getting a bit of

:01:20. > :01:23.form and tried to get a bit confidence and momentum into the

:01:24. > :01:26.game next week. Let's have a look at the table because it does not make

:01:27. > :01:31.good reading from an Edinburgh point of view. It could always have

:01:32. > :01:37.Glasgow because if Edinburgh get a win against Scarlets it could help

:01:38. > :01:46.Glasgow get in that play-off place. Edinburgh mate and just not been

:01:47. > :01:50.scoring .4 tries. -- points or tries. It has been a disappointing

:01:51. > :01:55.season but they have a new coach and I think these last five games, they

:01:56. > :01:58.are going to be looking at selection, may be time for contracts

:01:59. > :02:02.so all Edinburgh can do is try and finish the season on a high and get

:02:03. > :02:06.some pride back into the season. One thing they have not been able to do

:02:07. > :02:09.so far is they have not scored tries. Not getting points on the

:02:10. > :02:19.board. Where will that come from tonight? Where are the tries going

:02:20. > :02:25.to come from? It has been a problem all season. Glasgow themselves are

:02:26. > :02:32.55, but look at the top three, 76 for Leinster, these guys are scoring

:02:33. > :02:37.tries and Edinburgh have not been able to score. They have been fairly

:02:38. > :02:41.solid in defence but not getting the creativity. It is not an easy fix,

:02:42. > :02:45.there are not just a couple of players who need to comment, I think

:02:46. > :02:50.it is a whole change, not just personnel but how they approach it,

:02:51. > :02:56.so I think there is a lot of work to be done for Edinburgh. It is not an

:02:57. > :03:08.easy fix. They have dot-macro, Berghan and fought in the front row.

:03:09. > :03:11.-- Dell. And Ford. They will be better for it, it was quite a

:03:12. > :03:16.sobering experience for Allan Dell at times and Berghan sat on the

:03:17. > :03:20.bench a lot. I think that tells his confidence. It interesting that

:03:21. > :03:25.Gilchrist has not come back into the starting team so the pack has not

:03:26. > :03:28.been a problem for Edinburgh so far this year, it has been a lack of

:03:29. > :03:34.creativity. They will be solid tonight. I like the back row,

:03:35. > :03:37.Ritchie and Du Preez, they will work and make it tough for Scarlets, but

:03:38. > :03:42.you have to be better than that to get into the top six. And know

:03:43. > :03:46.what's on tonight, he has gone down to Manchester on family business.

:03:47. > :03:49.Looking at Edinburgh over the last four or five seasons, it is a

:03:50. > :03:52.similar picture because they have had different coaches coming in and

:03:53. > :03:56.they have tended to finish towards the bottom of the table. It is

:03:57. > :03:59.frustrating for the fans the gods they sometimes show goods is of

:04:00. > :04:06.excitement and talent but they cannot seem to maintain it. In

:04:07. > :04:11.general, the squad has not been as strong as the sides they are

:04:12. > :04:15.competing against. Glasgow, across the board they have had better

:04:16. > :04:19.players, better back-up players something times and Edinburgh's

:04:20. > :04:25.first strength teams. There has been an imbalance there-macro. It is not

:04:26. > :04:28.an easy fix, and I just think Richard Cockerill will have a hell

:04:29. > :04:33.of a job to do when he comes in next season and he will look at it and

:04:34. > :04:36.say, let's start afresh. That is why I think these last five games, these

:04:37. > :04:40.guys might be playing for the future because a new coach will come in and

:04:41. > :04:45.have his own ideas. I like some of these players, they are good club

:04:46. > :04:50.players, but they are just not making that step up, to compete

:04:51. > :04:54.against Leinster and Ospreys and Munster Mack, who had their top

:04:55. > :05:00.players back, they are struggling. -- Munster Mac back. I wonder if

:05:01. > :05:03.they will bring in more young Scottish players because Glasgow

:05:04. > :05:06.have done that. There is the Scarlets dressing room, they are

:05:07. > :05:12.quite clearly up for this tonight, for imported much for them. It will

:05:13. > :05:15.be busy, I imagine. Their first game back after the Six Nations and they

:05:16. > :05:19.welcome back some big international players. There is Ross Ford leading

:05:20. > :05:23.his team had done at Llanelli, Scarlets against Edinburgh, Alan and

:05:24. > :05:35.Hugh will take us through it. COMMENTATOR: Spring has sprung in

:05:36. > :05:39.West Wales. There is a spring in the step of scholars, buoyed up by the

:05:40. > :05:47.return of seven other international players. Edinburgh welcome back nine

:05:48. > :05:50.of their internationals. A fantastic night for rugby. The Edinburgh team,

:05:51. > :06:07.and all international front row. Duncan Weir is in at ten, the

:06:08. > :06:12.regular backline with Burleigh coming into the centre and Kinghorn

:06:13. > :06:20.at fullback. A great sense of expectation around Parc y Scarlets,

:06:21. > :06:30.with a top four place on offer. It would look weighted heavily in

:06:31. > :06:38.favour of the Reds. It is a fantastic might -- make for a Scrum

:06:39. > :06:42.V, a swirling wind down at the park, but this is the game and Scarlets

:06:43. > :06:52.are putting, the contrast in Bonn could not be stark. -- this is the

:06:53. > :07:03.team Scarlets are putting out. Parkes the captain in midfield. The

:07:04. > :07:11.benches, well, a rear view of Barclay, the Scottish captain. --

:07:12. > :07:18.rare view. McInally and Gilchrist on the Edinburgh bench. More to come

:07:19. > :07:26.from them, of course, we would imagine, these key figures who are

:07:27. > :07:31.involved in that amazing match in Paris, we would assume the laws of

:07:32. > :07:47.the game and the 80 minutes will be in the hands of the gods.

:07:48. > :07:55.A potent backline here from Scarlets. Moving the ball quickly

:07:56. > :08:03.already. A perfect night to throw the ball around. Conditions

:08:04. > :08:10.absolutely superb. The Scarlets showing where they intend to play

:08:11. > :08:20.this game. Elias takes it in. Recycle very quickly. And the big

:08:21. > :08:24.Irishman, again, they come left right through Jonathan Davies.

:08:25. > :08:30.Edinburgh said they have not been able to get their hands on the ball.

:08:31. > :08:33.This time it is Tom Price. They were looking Billy Sharp in the warm up.

:08:34. > :08:49.-- really sharp. I think Scarlets are going to put it

:08:50. > :08:57.about tonight. First opportunity for Edinburgh. Richard Tillyer from the

:08:58. > :09:07.three. Edinburgh have won it again. I mentioned earlier, the Scarlets

:09:08. > :09:13.team have threats everywhere. A fairly big but very mobile pack. It

:09:14. > :09:18.is my first visit to the Stadium and the pitch is superb. It is a great

:09:19. > :09:23.night to play and they will certainly make the most of it.

:09:24. > :09:34.Hopefully we will see a few tries to. I have been enduring a splendid

:09:35. > :09:36.day in West Wales. The hospitality has been of a commensurate order!

:09:37. > :09:54.First scrum. Slightly heavier Edinburgh pack,

:09:55. > :10:04.about 30 odd kilograms, here they come. Immediately heading for the

:10:05. > :10:08.line. Scarlets have it. Rhys Patchell marks his return to the

:10:09. > :10:12.Scarlets line-up within three minutes, they have sliced Edinburgh

:10:13. > :10:22.wide open. You could see that coming. Sitting here you could see

:10:23. > :10:27.the way Edinburgh set up and the winger was trying to cover but had

:10:28. > :10:37.too much to do. It was exploited really well from Patchell. The

:10:38. > :10:46.winger was miles away. Simple run around, and Patchell, he is not the

:10:47. > :10:49.quickest but he has made it. He had the whole West Wales to a mat

:10:50. > :10:53.because it just opened up in front of them. He has not played since New

:10:54. > :11:01.Year, the confidence is totally back. He has gone a fair distance.

:11:02. > :11:07.Edinburgh invited them into that hole and they did not shut it down

:11:08. > :11:13.quick enough or cleverly enough. Quality players always do expose

:11:14. > :11:18.that. He has had surgery on his ankle, and I have the feeling as he

:11:19. > :11:26.lined up for the kick, he had not really taken enough time to settle

:11:27. > :11:32.himself down. The chest going in and out. But he had plenty to do when he

:11:33. > :11:37.got the ball, but he had absolute confidence, very narrow, the

:11:38. > :11:44.Edinburgh defence. It has left the winger in no man's land. The winger

:11:45. > :11:51.has to be involved. If they are going to do that defence, the winger

:11:52. > :11:55.has to be quicker. A bit slack. Edinburgh need to put their clock

:11:56. > :12:02.forward, they do not need to wait for the weekend, they need to get to

:12:03. > :12:07.grips with this quickly. Good touch by Du Preez, allowing it to go out.

:12:08. > :12:11.Got the better off trying to knock it back in. -- thought the better.

:12:12. > :12:20.Already Scarlets have their tails up. Could not ask for a better start

:12:21. > :12:26.for the fans around Parc y Scarlets. Giving vent to their feelings! A

:12:27. > :12:31.suggestion they felt they were hard done by during the Six Nations and

:12:32. > :12:39.now is the time. They see the top four as an option here, clearly. And

:12:40. > :12:46.Edinburgh have it. Hidalgo-Clyne, has an ocean to go down the wing.

:12:47. > :12:54.Scarlets have to be careful here. Steffan Evans is rumbled. John Lacy

:12:55. > :13:00.taking a good look. Keeping Edinburgh back. Managed to feed it

:13:01. > :13:08.back quickly to Alan Davies. Inside the Kinghorn. Edinburgh shifting it

:13:09. > :13:20.quickly. Christine is caught. Could not quite get away. -- Chris Dean.

:13:21. > :13:26.Kinghorn goes in to retrieve it. It is good to see Hidalgo-Clyne sharp,

:13:27. > :13:32.lifting his head and seeing that space in behind. Duncan Weir sees a

:13:33. > :13:35.space in behind as well. That is the first and Edinburgh have began to

:13:36. > :13:41.get a bit of momentum into the game. Hidalgo-Clyne delivering the ball

:13:42. > :13:47.quicker. It looks like they can use it when they get it quickly. Players

:13:48. > :13:51.like Sam, they look forward to getting a quick and open game.

:13:52. > :13:57.Trouble here for Scarlets! Caught behind the line. Now there is a

:13:58. > :14:03.chance for Highlands. He needs to get his head down and let rip. --

:14:04. > :14:09.Highland. Did not quite make enough of that. -- Highland.

:14:10. > :14:15.Hidalgo-Clyne... Red line defending for Scarlets, quickly retaining the

:14:16. > :14:22.shape but this time John Lacey says they are smothering the ball. Years

:14:23. > :14:28.over on his haunches as well, he was involved in that ruck. They got a

:14:29. > :14:34.penalty the next breakdown. There is a chance here for Duncan Weir to get

:14:35. > :14:40.Edinburgh on the board. That was a bit of a poor effort behind the

:14:41. > :14:44.line. Just get out of the way, jumping up or leave it alone. It is

:14:45. > :14:50.a specialist job getting that ball back quickly and precisely with time

:14:51. > :14:57.to clear. The number eight had a bit of a brainwave. Well, there will be

:14:58. > :15:04.words, no doubt, but Duncan Weir settling himself, Rhys Patchell

:15:05. > :15:10.clearly rushed a bit, just having a listen to John Lacey having a word

:15:11. > :15:11.with Berghan about some of the technicalities of the scrum. Duncan

:15:12. > :15:25.Weir with Edinburgh's first chance. That will give Edinburgh some

:15:26. > :15:31.relief, because they have managed to get points on the board after eight

:15:32. > :15:39.minutes. Scarlets leading 5-3. And in no hurry to come back to restart

:15:40. > :15:45.the game either. Certainly pleased with their electric start through

:15:46. > :15:50.the hands on the pace. This time he is going the opposite way. It comes

:15:51. > :16:00.off and Edinburgh hand because he changed his mind. He was facing up

:16:01. > :16:12.to go one way. That court Edinburgh by surprise. They are not letting

:16:13. > :16:16.Edinburgh get settled. They do not want Edinburgh to get a flat for and

:16:17. > :16:24.getting them all going. Eras Mata for the first time. To do with

:16:25. > :16:32.seeing him on the ball a bit more. Hoyland below it. That has drifted

:16:33. > :16:36.out. We were done in the field earlier and round about the stadium,

:16:37. > :16:39.the nature is fantastic, beautiful evening, but there is a swirling

:16:40. > :16:46.wind which will affect the kicking. Hill yes, it is a nice enclosure but

:16:47. > :16:58.they do have the tunnel at either end. The wind will whistle through.

:16:59. > :17:07.Patchell again, to Davies. In John Lacey driving it back very quickly.

:17:08. > :17:12.I feel he has got to have a big game this evening, Davies. He struggled

:17:13. > :17:16.in the Six Nations a little. If he is looking for a Lions place I think

:17:17. > :17:22.he will have to have a big finish. Will have to do well in this

:17:23. > :17:27.competition. Again on the ground, Edinburgh competing well, and John

:17:28. > :17:36.Lacey steps in. Ritchie, click on the ball. A good sign for the seven.

:17:37. > :17:42.-- quick. Duncan Weir will go down the line. I suspect over on that

:17:43. > :17:48.side, the wind is not so much of the difficulty.

:17:49. > :17:55.And he has gone for the full treatment on that one, that is a

:17:56. > :17:56.beauty. Liam Williams just shepherding it out, he knew he was

:17:57. > :18:03.beaten. So, perfect attacking position for

:18:04. > :18:12.Edinburgh. They are in the right area now. Ross

:18:13. > :18:33.Ford. Not the tidiest of takes. John Lacey

:18:34. > :18:37.steps in. Simon Berghan blocking in the line. That is a wasted

:18:38. > :18:43.opportunity. You do not get better than that. A great kick, then they

:18:44. > :18:51.butchered it at the line-out, a soft penalty. That was a real butchered

:18:52. > :18:56.chance for Edinburgh. Goodwillie did not go well from the very start, the

:18:57. > :18:59.tape was not good and it went downhill after that. But Rhys

:19:00. > :19:08.Patchell has not made that much ground. That has gone wrong

:19:09. > :19:19.horribly! Berghan this time again. Breslin's past. This again, they

:19:20. > :19:23.have spilled it and gone over. The reaction time, Edinburgh have to

:19:24. > :19:34.react quicker than that. They were too slow to. -- to get there. They

:19:35. > :19:41.should have made sure... Well, I suspect perhaps the wind is a bit

:19:42. > :19:50.more problematic on that side. Both sides having difficulty with the

:19:51. > :19:56.line-out. I think Edinburgh can be a nuisance at line-out time. They went

:19:57. > :20:01.through the full repertoire of options, Scarlets. They must be

:20:02. > :20:06.struggling. There we are. Up the middle. They have got men on both

:20:07. > :20:13.sides but they are drifting over towards this side, Scarlets. Tom

:20:14. > :20:21.Price. Massive second row. Six foot ten, both of them. A possible late

:20:22. > :20:26.hit there, Mata going in. I think the line judge has not intervened.

:20:27. > :20:40.But the timing was just marginally out. Quick ball, Alan Davies. This

:20:41. > :20:45.time they outer again. Time to step back again, space is appearing, the

:20:46. > :20:52.defence all over the place. Shingler took it in. Plenty of time to

:20:53. > :20:57.realign themselves, Patchell lets it go, messy in the middle. They go

:20:58. > :21:03.with the slightly hazardous and messy option of the drop goal. I get

:21:04. > :21:10.the feeling that they are over complicating it. There was nothing

:21:11. > :21:15.on at all then suddenly they seemed to get through the Edinburgh

:21:16. > :21:23.defence. Just lacking concentration. Once Scarlets got through, the

:21:24. > :21:28.handling was very slack. The ball in behind, a little step, and off-load.

:21:29. > :21:33.McNicholl. Again, Shingler, wonderful ball control eventually,

:21:34. > :21:42.but if he had taken the option Patchell took of going for the line,

:21:43. > :21:46.it was there. Get the head down. He looked more like a Harlem

:21:47. > :21:50.globetrotter there for a while! Edinburgh just need the ball, need

:21:51. > :22:01.to get some possession and territory. A bit of a spark from

:22:02. > :22:04.somewhere. It is a bit pedestrian and predictable from Edinburgh, that

:22:05. > :22:14.is the difficulty. That has gone straight up the middle. Our fullback

:22:15. > :22:19.again, Todd Blackadder reckons he is a rare talent. No need to argue. We

:22:20. > :22:23.could maybe get a view on that Mandy Nicholl back in the studio. It has

:22:24. > :22:27.been an interesting but scrappy start. But no doubt Scarlets are

:22:28. > :22:31.here to play tonight and I think if Edinburgh's defence does not get a

:22:32. > :22:35.lot better than it was for that first try, could be a long night. It

:22:36. > :22:40.is very loose, they have good players, Liam Williams out wide, I

:22:41. > :22:48.think Edinburgh need to make sure their defence is solid. That is the

:22:49. > :22:54.basic problem for Edinburgh. Just the gap that was left for Rhys

:22:55. > :23:03.Patchell to motor through. A player not renowned for his pace. He left

:23:04. > :23:17.Edinburgh in his wake. Tom Price has a swing. I think it was Alan Dell...

:23:18. > :23:24.Here they come again, long passes. Fumbled by Edinburgh. Maybe time to

:23:25. > :23:34.use that long pass and swing it to the far side. It is just confidence,

:23:35. > :23:39.you know, he shot in, Hoyland, trying to close it down, and I don't

:23:40. > :23:43.know, it looked messy, you have to be more assertive. If you're going

:23:44. > :23:49.to get a man on the ball. He was nowhere near it and Williams had

:23:50. > :23:55.that chip over. Field position again. McNicholl looks a potent

:23:56. > :24:06.threat from the back. I like Williams as a player. If he messes

:24:07. > :24:13.up, I think I would like to see him playing at 15. For me, he had a

:24:14. > :24:18.great time with Wales last season. I think Warren Gatland will have him

:24:19. > :24:28.in the back of his mind to take him out there. Alan Davies with another

:24:29. > :24:36.good field position. We almost halfway through the first half. But

:24:37. > :24:40.Edinburgh have stemmed the tide in a somewhat fragile state, being

:24:41. > :24:46.pummelled here. John Lacey has the advantage already. They have this

:24:47. > :24:51.for nothing. Cutting through. Duncan Weir goes in. Stays in. Alan Davies,

:24:52. > :24:58.they still have the advantage. Wonderfully taken by Jonathan

:24:59. > :25:05.Davies, who keeps the ball alive. Shingler, Scarlets running riot

:25:06. > :25:07.here! It is just too much inventiveness, pace, skill,

:25:08. > :25:14.everything, and a penalty to come. Beautiful play. We always knew that

:25:15. > :25:19.penalty... Shingler has that free role, he is a big, athletic type and

:25:20. > :25:26.he has been given able to meander around the pitch. He will be a

:25:27. > :25:29.threat all night. And the way scholars performed in the last

:25:30. > :25:33.scrum, cannot see anything other than going down the line and having

:25:34. > :25:37.another go. Because that will have given them a tremendous lift, not

:25:38. > :25:46.only the stretching Edinburgh from side to side, at the moment giving

:25:47. > :25:54.them a bit of doing in the as well. I would be annoyed if I was the

:25:55. > :26:03.Scarlets winger, because you do not expect such an upset.

:26:04. > :26:11.Early days, but options aplenty for Scarlets. Another one coming here.

:26:12. > :26:17.This is just below us here, Steffan Evans is lurking with intent on

:26:18. > :26:21.stretching, it making Edinburgh mark him, effectively. While the rest of

:26:22. > :26:28.them are camped on the far side of the page. In it goes.

:26:29. > :26:40.Edinburgh doing their best to disrupt it legally and come round.

:26:41. > :26:47.John Lacey has spotted Anton Bresler. Here's over the line. That

:26:48. > :26:52.had an inevitability from the very point data possession. Then

:26:53. > :27:02.Breslauer, the penalty was coming, the forwards took it on themselves.

:27:03. > :27:10.Good line-out to start with, but they won that all pretty clearly and

:27:11. > :27:18.Edinburgh stayed down. The body positions now, the forwards, they

:27:19. > :27:24.are too high. Not low enough. Richard Cockerill will not like

:27:25. > :27:29.that. They must be doing that in training at least ten times a day.

:27:30. > :27:40.Wyn Jones has been credited with placing the ball, as the Inquisition

:27:41. > :27:43.starts. Edinburgh are up against two tries done already and we are just

:27:44. > :27:50.halfway through the first half. Scarlets leading 10-3. A big hand

:27:51. > :28:08.below us here for Wyn Jones. Slightly more composed, Patchell has

:28:09. > :28:17.completed the business with another two points. That has put Scarlets on

:28:18. > :28:23.easy street, really, 12-3. And given what we saw here, it is going to be

:28:24. > :28:26.a long night. Well, we kept saying that in the first 20 minutes but

:28:27. > :28:33.that is what it has felt like from the start of the game. Scarlets have

:28:34. > :28:40.set out their stall, we know they're going to play, Edinburgh have been

:28:41. > :28:46.disappointing up front. Duncan Weir goes blank, despatched back nearly

:28:47. > :28:53.to have weight. -- goes for a length. I wonder where Edinburgh can

:28:54. > :28:55.find some inspiration, some physicality that seems to be lacking

:28:56. > :29:11.at the moment. Massive aid for the Scarlets, they

:29:12. > :29:16.all seems to be six foot eight, 69, six foot ten, apart from Samson Lee.

:29:17. > :29:20.Edinburgh taken care of that. They have butchered it again, lost it at

:29:21. > :29:25.the back of the line. In they go through Ryan Elias. Rhys Patchell.

:29:26. > :29:32.Again, they are swinging it out to the winner will stop Williams cuts

:29:33. > :29:36.inside. That idiosyncratic running cell of his which is so deceptive.

:29:37. > :29:49.-- running style. Possession everywhere for the Welsh.

:29:50. > :29:56.They have lost it this time. Edinburgh have a chance to return.

:29:57. > :30:02.There is a gap for Chris Dean, and Kinghorn did not get his hand on it.

:30:03. > :30:06.Very scrappy in midfield. Berghan is still down. There is a huge gap year

:30:07. > :30:16.now. Edinburgh have to be very careful. John Lacey has immediately

:30:17. > :30:25.stopped the game. I do not think he was quite aware of the possibly

:30:26. > :30:30.serious nature of Simon Berghan's injury, but it is scrappy, Alan.

:30:31. > :30:36.There were some nice touches, Scarlets put that nice ball on the

:30:37. > :30:43.line. We were talking before the game about quality players, I am

:30:44. > :30:50.being a little fussy, Chris Dean, he has developed as a centre, the gap

:30:51. > :30:53.was there, if you have got the wheels, that is maybe why Edinburgh

:30:54. > :30:58.are where they are, the quality players, Jones, Bennett, they have

:30:59. > :31:02.taken that gap in the truth and they creating scores and that is

:31:03. > :31:06.difference between a good player and a really good player a brilliant

:31:07. > :31:08.player. Once you get bigger, you have to be all over them and then

:31:09. > :31:22.finish. Johnny McNicholl running at you.

:31:23. > :31:31.It's so difficult for Edinburgh to catch its. They all have that pace

:31:32. > :31:36.to hurt you. This is where Berghan was injured, he went down

:31:37. > :31:44.straightaway, very clearly. I think it's his left elbow. He's on his

:31:45. > :31:50.feet, but just having a look at the Edinburgh bench below as here, there

:31:51. > :31:54.doesn't seem to much activity. I think we should rename the pitch,

:31:55. > :31:57.because there are legends everywhere. If they aren't on the

:31:58. > :32:04.wall, they're walking up the stairs. Some clubs are producing the

:32:05. > :32:08.players. Bennett, one of the all-time greats. Jonathan Davies sat

:32:09. > :32:12.behind us. I was having a chat with him before the game. This place has

:32:13. > :32:19.produced some of the best players in the world. He's being overly modest,

:32:20. > :32:24.because he was recognised around the building as well. Meanwhile,

:32:25. > :32:32.Scarlets come again. Berghan is back on his feet and still playing.

:32:33. > :32:38.Patchell just delays the pass and a quick move with Williams coming in.

:32:39. > :32:43.Clever move. Variety in their play. They have men over here. And again a

:32:44. > :32:48.short pass. That is a simple one for James Davies. He must have thought

:32:49. > :32:55.is playing sevens again, a game that huge gap. The defence is not there

:32:56. > :33:03.to stop this kind of move. As I say, I'm a defence coach. If one missteps

:33:04. > :33:10.in you all step in. Hoyland turned out, he turned in. It's a confidence

:33:11. > :33:14.thing in defence. You've got to feel confident with the guys around you

:33:15. > :33:19.and work together. He has gone out and he should have gone in. Here's

:33:20. > :33:23.not even at pace crushing the line. You just have to look at his pace.

:33:24. > :33:28.You can't believe what has happened. There's nobody behind him. Kinghorn

:33:29. > :33:33.has gone to the outside channel, he didn't expect anybody to come

:33:34. > :33:40.through the middle. As I say, it is those back row forwards. Shingler

:33:41. > :33:45.now, now Davies is doing it. This is the kind of my pet Edinburgh, you

:33:46. > :33:47.know, that is where you have to work as one defensively. -- that is the

:33:48. > :34:06.kind of night Edinburgh. 25 minutes on the clock, and we're

:34:07. > :34:10.almost at 25 points, not quite appoint a minute but it's looking

:34:11. > :34:14.pretty grim for Edinburgh. This is how it happened. The gap was that,

:34:15. > :34:21.the men were the kind that is a sevens player something a gap as

:34:22. > :34:26.well. Look at that gap! There is Hoyland and Kinghorn on the outside

:34:27. > :34:30.channel, sitting in formation, maybe they should have been flatter. It is

:34:31. > :34:35.how the defence coach said it up. The big thing I used to say to the

:34:36. > :34:40.players is quite defence is a beta defence, and I can't hear any noise

:34:41. > :34:47.from the Edinburgh boys. -- is a beaten defence. We'll come back to

:34:48. > :34:52.the pre-match warm up as well, where there was quite a stark difference.

:34:53. > :34:59.There is a chance here all of a sudden! It Burleigh out of

:35:00. > :35:02.absolutely nothing, Edinburgh now... This could be. If they can just

:35:03. > :35:11.galvanise themselves and start capitalising. That was slack. There

:35:12. > :35:15.is a chink in their armour. They are putting pressure on the kicker

:35:16. > :35:25.there. They are talking to other behind the sticks, yeah, Berghan

:35:26. > :35:31.they're taking great pressure on the kick. A great line. A quality

:35:32. > :35:35.finish. So, all is not the doom and gloom we thought it was just a few

:35:36. > :35:41.minutes ago because Edinburgh are back. With a score of broadband they

:35:42. > :35:47.have added in front of a post -- with a score on the board. 19-10,

:35:48. > :35:56.Scarlets lead and we are still not said whom it into the game, we have

:35:57. > :36:04.four tries. -- we are still not 30 minutes into the game. Rhys

:36:05. > :36:09.Patchell, again with a short kick. He is not given that one enough.

:36:10. > :36:17.Edinburgh will get to play it. John Lacey has given them the chance to

:36:18. > :36:22.move it. What Edinburgh need to do is score next, to build on what they

:36:23. > :36:30.have managed to get. All of a sudden, it is a 9-point game. He has

:36:31. > :36:35.better length at this time, Patchell takes. You just wonder if that was

:36:36. > :36:39.the initial rush of enthusiasm of a player coming back into the team

:36:40. > :36:44.that carried them on. And he will begin to slow down the. Who looks a

:36:45. > :36:53.bit nervous now. He is beginning to consider his options, having been

:36:54. > :36:57.caught once. Duncan gets in a scrap, but still get that back. Jamie

:36:58. > :37:06.Ritchie spinning, doing a Watson here. That's better. Kinghorn comes

:37:07. > :37:13.in like a rocket. Forward pass, again just the timing not quite

:37:14. > :37:19.right. Getting excited the. The cumulative effect of the little

:37:20. > :37:26.things is that the rhythm of Edinburgh is disrupted. Good to see

:37:27. > :37:29.Kinghorn looking for the ball. The cross field kicks were the height of

:37:30. > :37:33.Kinghorn, he is a big lad, they are trying to get players up there. It's

:37:34. > :37:45.a good way to change the point of attack. Midfield, Burleigh comes

:37:46. > :37:50.over to this side. In fact, he has come back this way. That's

:37:51. > :37:55.symptomatic, part of the problem, I think. Burleigh is like a yo-yo back

:37:56. > :38:09.and forth behind the scrum. He has now decided he's going back to this

:38:10. > :38:17.side. Solid scrum. It takes two people out every time. Williams is a

:38:18. > :38:23.good player. Clever play. You just wonder how potent he would be at the

:38:24. > :38:28.centre of the pitch. Scarlets have all sorts of players going forward

:38:29. > :38:32.on the wing, they have a wing in at full-back. The numbers mean nothing.

:38:33. > :38:40.I suspect that's the philosophy now. If you can put on a red shirt, you

:38:41. > :38:43.can play anywhere. And it's working, because Edinburgh just look like

:38:44. > :38:50.they are growing. They are chasing shadows all the time. The team often

:38:51. > :38:54.take longer, they are taking a bit too long. As I say, that trial has

:38:55. > :39:03.got them back in. It could have been a lot worse. --. Try. Within nine

:39:04. > :39:09.points again. They just have to stay in again, a few minutes until

:39:10. > :39:13.half-time. John Lacey is not too interested in summary tying up their

:39:14. > :39:21.slippers. I think it's Tom Brown, is it? On the far side. A slightly

:39:22. > :39:25.unusual position guarding the five metres there, Scarlets little chip

:39:26. > :39:28.over the top, Edinburgh have to be very careful this time. The bounce

:39:29. > :39:35.was favourable but they have caught it. They have stripped them again,

:39:36. > :39:41.they have extra men, the bonus try is here and it is Rhys Patchell with

:39:42. > :39:49.his second try of the evening, secured an early bonus point. The

:39:50. > :39:52.fourth try for Scarlets after just this many minutes, they lead.

:39:53. > :40:01.Patchell is pulling the strings. That little chip over the top. They

:40:02. > :40:05.have the line spreading and Patchell is just chipping it over the top.

:40:06. > :40:09.The bounce was looking for Edinburgh, but that turn over the

:40:10. > :40:19.strip, then you can't recover from that position. Edinburgh needed to

:40:20. > :40:26.score next, but they haven't. It's just a permanent position on what's

:40:27. > :40:31.gone wrong. I can't seem to put it right. Which is the difficulty. --

:40:32. > :40:38.they can't seem. Patchell already reminding everybody of what he's

:40:39. > :40:44.got. Not the least of which is the phenomenal boot. The strip is coming

:40:45. > :40:48.more and more into the game now, and coaches have to address that.

:40:49. > :40:52.Players taking the ball, you know, it's part of the game. You have to

:40:53. > :41:00.protect that ball and make sure it's as tight as it can be. That's how

:41:01. > :41:05.defence coaches work. If you attack the ball, the strip's on. You know,

:41:06. > :41:11.there he is, Jonathan Davies wrestles the ball of him and Tom

:41:12. > :41:19.Brown has to be bigger and stronger than that. And look at the red

:41:20. > :41:24.shirts. Yeah. Rhys Patchell had 91 point going into tonight's game.

:41:25. > :41:34.That is him well through in a hundred points. That is a careless

:41:35. > :41:40.kick. 77%, Patchell's kicking rate. As well as being already on hat

:41:41. > :41:48.trick. We are still eight minutes shy of half-time. That's the last

:41:49. > :41:54.thing you want. Frustration writ large on Duncan Weir's face. And the

:41:55. > :42:03.demeanour of Duncan Hodge, the acting coach tells its own tail.

:42:04. > :42:06.Edinburgh stayed with the same defence as the last one, but the

:42:07. > :42:13.only difference is that Scarlets have put an extra on the left, so it

:42:14. > :42:18.is three versus four. Using a scrum-half to cover a lot of ground.

:42:19. > :42:24.This is inviting them. They are pretty far apart as well. It's like

:42:25. > :42:30.calling their bluff, it's like a double bluff, I suspect. They will

:42:31. > :42:36.do the obvious thing. Well, they've done one thing! LAUGHTER

:42:37. > :42:46.You've got to hook the ball. You don't often see that now. The hand

:42:47. > :42:51.came in. If we watch this closely, John Lacey's about 12 inches away

:42:52. > :42:58.from that, watching what's going on. Not exactly clandestinely, was it?

:42:59. > :43:04.Duncan Weir down the line. From halfway. He has given that plenty of

:43:05. > :43:07.welly. Again, a good attacking position. Let's see if they can

:43:08. > :43:20.create something now. That gap has extended again to 16 points. John

:43:21. > :43:23.Lacey chatting away. Basically saying that the number nine can't do

:43:24. > :43:42.the hoping. -- the clock. Well taken. Jamie Ritchie hazard.

:43:43. > :43:48.Street snaffling it. You see the body positions of the Scarlets.

:43:49. > :43:58.Hidalgo-Clyne, Burleigh goes around takes it. There is a penalty coming.

:43:59. > :44:03.It's one of these ones where the players dipping into it anyway. Let

:44:04. > :44:10.us listen to John Lacey. REFEREE: Thank you very much, I'm dealing

:44:11. > :44:19.with the captain. The OK, thank you very much. He's going to the line

:44:20. > :44:23.judge. The head was down, you see. In defence of the defender, if you

:44:24. > :44:31.are defending that, the player comes dipping in, shoulder down you. I

:44:32. > :44:35.mean, I suppose if you look at it Parkes has got himself in a bad

:44:36. > :44:40.position, he is she turned his shoulder in. He doesn't look the

:44:41. > :44:44.quickest in the world, and he has given the high tackle. It is purely

:44:45. > :44:51.because he lost his feet because he turned his shoulders in. I think the

:44:52. > :44:55.referee and the line judge on the far side have taken an understanding

:44:56. > :45:04.view of that, if you can put it that way. They have made an allowance.

:45:05. > :45:07.Reversed it. That's something was said, presumably, because he

:45:08. > :45:13.reversed the penalty and has given a huge advantage here to Scarlets.

:45:14. > :45:19.Just how the ball there, he could have released. He'll be furious!

:45:20. > :45:26.He's not happy. Here is Patchell with variety, looking for variety.

:45:27. > :45:33.Tom Brown did well. And it's gone, Scarlets' away, so they will have

:45:34. > :45:39.that. Oh, and a fumble. Some rustiness there from Rhys Patchell.

:45:40. > :45:45.Just one or two lapses from the Scarlets. They have had so much of

:45:46. > :45:49.the ball. They've got where they are, but... Everybody makes a lot of

:45:50. > :45:54.internationals coming into the team, but when have been away for four or

:45:55. > :45:58.six weeks, getting back into it is sometimes a coach's problem as well.

:45:59. > :46:01.Both teams are suffering because of that. Players have come back from

:46:02. > :46:07.Six Nations, their bodies will be a bit tired. Their minds will have

:46:08. > :46:12.been, the places they have trained, Wales and Scotland. We'll give them

:46:13. > :46:20.the benefit of the doubt. We need to look back, at what happened with

:46:21. > :46:25.that reversed penalty. I mean, that is hugely careless. But the penalty

:46:26. > :46:30.to be reversed within the other team's 22 metre mark is just

:46:31. > :46:35.unforgivable. We will try to get to the bottom of what happened there.

:46:36. > :46:39.Not messing about in the scrum, the hooker was there. I bet he was tilt.

:46:40. > :46:48.Hit it back, because here I come again. Look at the pace. -- here

:46:49. > :46:55.they come. Parkes turns inside. Again, it's the full-back. There is

:46:56. > :46:59.somebody down the middle of the page doesn't look too good. It in

:47:00. > :47:06.Edinburgh player, and the action is just about around him. The referee

:47:07. > :47:09.has had a quick look but allows play to go on. Scholars take advantage of

:47:10. > :47:16.Edinburgh being a man down. That'll be a deliberate knock-on --

:47:17. > :47:20.Scarlets. It's a card. It's the worst possible outcome for Edinburgh

:47:21. > :47:26.because there is a yellow card here. It is Mata for his attempt. Ross

:47:27. > :47:33.Ford is not happy, he had better be careful because Mata is off. Right

:47:34. > :47:36.from the off, he was caught flat-footed. He was always in

:47:37. > :47:44.trouble, and I think that was the only option. He stopped a try. It is

:47:45. > :47:51.Jamie Ritchie who is down in the middle. And there is, well, I

:47:52. > :47:57.suppose the argument is always the player trying to intercept.

:47:58. > :48:02.Edinburgh now change, number 20 is coming on for Jamie Ritchie. I

:48:03. > :48:06.suspect, making an assumption at the moment, that this is a head injury

:48:07. > :48:09.assessment. As he is leaving the field below us, he looks a bit

:48:10. > :48:15.frustrated. He doesn't look like a player who is going to come back.

:48:16. > :48:23.Yeah, looks like it. So we hope he is OK. We will try and see if we can

:48:24. > :48:27.establish if that is a head injury assessment. Could also be some

:48:28. > :48:31.fatigue, in the final minute of the first half. Hopefully just some

:48:32. > :48:38.fatigue and he recovers at half-time. He has been playing well.

:48:39. > :48:42.He is one of the players who seems to be able to raise his game and

:48:43. > :48:50.match the quality of the opposition. There, confirmation that number 20

:48:51. > :48:55.is coming on as replacement. Scarlets going for another try here.

:48:56. > :49:00.As half-time approaches, they have swung that round to the narrow side.

:49:01. > :49:07.At Edinburgh have competed well, though. And they have an advantage

:49:08. > :49:14.coming. A knock-on. They are running it from behind their own post, high

:49:15. > :49:17.risk. Kinghorn sees the gap. All he has done is give it to McNichol on a

:49:18. > :49:23.plate. I don't know what that was all about. The harder the better I

:49:24. > :49:28.would have thought. Didn't in any way turn the Scarlets on their

:49:29. > :49:34.heels. Here is McNickle again, short pass to Davies. It going. Three

:49:35. > :49:44.players to get him down, and here comes the ball. Tadhg Beirne, in

:49:45. > :50:04.they come again. And forced out. So it's incessant pressure now. Just

:50:05. > :50:07.like the tide coming in on top of Edinburgh all the time. All they

:50:08. > :50:13.want to do now is get to half-time without conceding any more. Exactly,

:50:14. > :50:19.yeah. Just get in. Have a good talk, you know, the defence talk will --

:50:20. > :50:25.coach will talk to them. They have to get their tempo lifted. I do feel

:50:26. > :50:27.that they are over egging it sometimes, when they get into

:50:28. > :50:31.scoring positions they have just been a bit too clever. They have

:50:32. > :50:35.proved already, although tries have come from the simplest approach. In

:50:36. > :50:49.the last minute of the first half, Ross Ford trying to move the ball

:50:50. > :50:56.Ford. John Lacey says it's the same maul, Fihaki this time. Pretty much

:50:57. > :50:59.straight up and down. Well taken by James Davies. Here they come. They

:51:00. > :51:04.want to finish with a flourish. That might not have been the best option,

:51:05. > :51:10.Kinghorn comes to tidy it and he is happy to let it go. But that will

:51:11. > :51:13.give Scarlets enough time to get lined up to challenge the Edinburgh

:51:14. > :51:18.ball. But that was beautifully taken. Just playing with so much

:51:19. > :51:28.confidence, Davies. The Olympic silver medallist.

:51:29. > :51:43.He is like a Welsh Seamus Watson, two of a kind. Ross Ford, the clock

:51:44. > :51:49.has gone red so we should be in the last play. A song rings out round

:51:50. > :51:59.the stadium. No wonder they are happy. They're Scarlets crowd. Sam

:52:00. > :52:04.Hidalgo-Clyne says enough is enough. The referee agrees and the first

:52:05. > :52:09.half is to close. Edinburgh will be relieved to get off the pitch. Rhys

:52:10. > :52:15.Patchell seems to me to be running a bit stiffly as he goes off. It was

:52:16. > :52:20.very, very bad news for Edinburgh from the word go. Rhys Patchell got

:52:21. > :52:28.it underway at about three minutes to put them 5-0 up. Burleigh

:52:29. > :52:32.eventually, with a score out of nothing. And then Patchell got the

:52:33. > :52:37.bonus point right on the half-hour. They had four tries and in total

:52:38. > :52:49.command, the Scarlets, as they make it to half-time. Scarlets lead at

:52:50. > :52:53.Parc y Scarlets. STUDIO: That wasn't great, was at? Difficult, difficult

:52:54. > :52:58.watching. It looks very difficult to. They are not going to win it

:52:59. > :53:02.from here. They have been second best in every facet of the game. We

:53:03. > :53:05.know Scarlets have a lot of creativity and attacking players and

:53:06. > :53:09.they are bringing everything out tonight. They're almost trying too

:53:10. > :53:15.hard, because I think they know that they've got an opportunity. They are

:53:16. > :53:19.up pulling all inside passes. It's good to watch, unless you are an

:53:20. > :53:28.Edinburgh fan. And they already have the bonus point, at 30 minute into

:53:29. > :53:35.the game, incredible. Patchell, great. This was too simple. A nice

:53:36. > :53:40.little wraparound from Patchell, and Chris Dean gets sucked in. It just

:53:41. > :53:45.seems, when you make the initial break, normally as the second line

:53:46. > :53:49.of defence. When you look at it, Chris Dean gets pulled in and then

:53:50. > :53:55.Kinghorn is coming in, Highland has been pulled in. Defensively, it is

:53:56. > :53:59.just all over the place. -- Hoyland. Disappointing. That was nice and

:54:00. > :54:04.wide, this is them at the forwards were doing. It is just really

:54:05. > :54:09.composed, good control. Edinburgh are competing well, they get a

:54:10. > :54:18.penalty there. This is always going inch by inch, just nice and easy.

:54:19. > :54:21.And Wyn Jones. A very simple, well worked try. And this is just what

:54:22. > :54:26.they are trying to do. They are trying lots of different things.

:54:27. > :54:31.Going for a chip over. And an inside pass, it's great. Williams has been

:54:32. > :54:38.brilliant, all over the place defensively as well. Parkes,

:54:39. > :54:44.beautifully held up their just to the weight of the pass, brilliant to

:54:45. > :54:47.James Davies. He just knew he was coming, came from the second line

:54:48. > :54:51.which meant that the Edinburgh defence was all over the place. You

:54:52. > :54:57.know, at that stage, there were just running all over. That was a lovely

:54:58. > :55:05.try. On the outside shoulder to flip it out, lovely. They could pull it

:55:06. > :55:09.back and maybe raise an eyebrow view, it didn't last long but good

:55:10. > :55:12.nonetheless. It was good spirit from Edinburgh. This is the front row

:55:13. > :55:16.working in tandem. Which is what they have to do. Ross Ford misses

:55:17. > :55:21.the tackle but get up to his feet. He tries to make a difference. Watch

:55:22. > :55:26.him and Berghan, putting pressure on Alan Davies. This is Allan Dell,

:55:27. > :55:34.then. At that point coming at 19-10, back in it. Front row, pressurising.

:55:35. > :55:39.Allan Dell, great awareness. Off-loaded to Burleigh, not got them

:55:40. > :55:45.back in the game. They just had to keep the ball and control it, but

:55:46. > :55:48.Scarlets got the ball back. When you do score a try, the most important

:55:49. > :55:51.thing is that you have five or ten minutes to consolidate, don't give

:55:52. > :55:55.away any more points. That is exactly what Edinburgh did. Rhys

:55:56. > :56:01.Patchell once again for his second try of the match. The bonus point as

:56:02. > :56:05.well. They have tried a lot of things. They have tried the passing,

:56:06. > :56:09.a chip over like that, it is the ball can go anywhere. Look at the

:56:10. > :56:14.strength of Jonathan Davies, he just strips them. There it is. Any number

:56:15. > :56:19.of people, but it is Hadleigh Parkes who is the long pass. To Rhys

:56:20. > :56:25.Patchell, who gets his second try which is the bonus point done after

:56:26. > :56:29.30 minutes. That has just been the gulf in class, and there is a gulf

:56:30. > :56:33.in class between the two teams. You have players like Williams and

:56:34. > :56:38.Davies, full of confidence. You have Hadleigh Parkes is just pulling the

:56:39. > :56:42.strings. Rhys Patchell, having a fantastic ride because he has so

:56:43. > :56:46.much opportunity. We will be back talking more about the second half

:56:47. > :56:49.and build towards it, but let's put a smile on our face. Let us talk

:56:50. > :56:53.about the Six Nations campaign from Scotland was the point of view.

:56:54. > :56:56.Looking at the table, this is important from the Scotland point of

:56:57. > :57:00.view. Where are going to see that as faultless, we'll see it as equal

:57:01. > :57:09.second. 14 point that the end of that. -- we won't see at as fourth

:57:10. > :57:13.place. Very positive start. 14 tries, and that for me is where the

:57:14. > :57:17.Scotland team has really developed. To get three wins, first for three

:57:18. > :57:21.wins in the Six Nations were over ten years has been great. And it

:57:22. > :57:27.started off against Ireland, and that 20 minutes of the whole Six

:57:28. > :57:31.Nations was just electric. This was a long passage of play. Stuart Hall

:57:32. > :57:34.was in the heart of everything that made Scotland exciting throughout

:57:35. > :57:37.the Six Nations. Not just scoring tries, but creating them. Second

:57:38. > :57:42.year in a row he has been our best Six Nations player of the

:57:43. > :57:44.tournament, he deserved it. Look at the quality. Murrayfield was rocking

:57:45. > :57:50.at this stage, the confidence was there. They showed innovation as

:57:51. > :57:58.well, which was just fantastic. That is nine, 11 and 12, the first three

:57:59. > :58:02.players in that line-up. They just showed a lot of character to win

:58:03. > :58:05.that game. But that Scotland off to a good start on the Six Nations,

:58:06. > :58:10.brilliant way to finish it. It certainly was, look at the smile on

:58:11. > :58:14.Greig Laidlaw's face. And of course going to Paris and bludgeoned out of

:58:15. > :58:18.the game by a massive and brutal French side. The scrum really

:58:19. > :58:21.struggled in the Ireland game, but the game didn't influence, the scrum

:58:22. > :58:26.didn't influence the game but it did hear echoes, because there were

:58:27. > :58:34.penalties. Stuart Hall finish it off. There was a lot of phases.

:58:35. > :58:40.France absolutely battered as that day. Yet we only conceded one try,

:58:41. > :58:44.so the defence was really strong. This was a bit of opportunism, Tony

:58:45. > :58:48.Seymour to Tim Swinson, great effort from the big lad to get through

:58:49. > :58:51.there and support. 6-point defeat, you know, at the time you think you

:58:52. > :58:58.will take that, a bonus point. And then Wales came out of the blocks

:58:59. > :59:02.firing up my field. The drive from Wales' perspective. It was a quick

:59:03. > :59:09.tap penalty, but in the second half they just clicked. Great to set up

:59:10. > :59:15.play. He scored in the first three tries in the first two games, and

:59:16. > :59:21.then created one. This sums up Stuart for me. Good forward play.

:59:22. > :59:30.Watch the quality of Finn Russell's pass. Scored one, made one, stopped

:59:31. > :59:34.on the defence. It is brilliant. We have to show, my goodness, what a

:59:35. > :59:39.sobering afternoon this was. It was painful. You know, watch these

:59:40. > :59:43.tries. Jonathan Joseph scored three, barely without a blue arm going on

:59:44. > :59:47.him at all. This is first phase. Yes, a lot of movement, there were

:59:48. > :59:50.very quick, good players. But you cannot be going through your

:59:51. > :59:55.midfield defence like that. It was too easy. You know, here is the

:59:56. > :59:59.second half when he got his third. A hat-trick of tries in the Six

:00:00. > :00:04.Nations without a hand going on him. But we showed character. Huw Jones

:00:05. > :00:12.came back and we got three tries. Not quite a bonus point, but then it

:00:13. > :00:17.finished well. Finn Russell reacted well, and that I think is the key.

:00:18. > :00:23.He reacted to the experience at Twickenham. Tee tries in the first

:00:24. > :00:27.half. Matt Scott came off the bench after Jones went off injured. This

:00:28. > :00:30.was what was really encouraging for me. This game could have petered out

:00:31. > :00:39.in the last 20 minutes. A nice kick by Stuart Hall, and he knows whether

:00:40. > :00:45.tries are. This try summed up Vern Cotter. A lot of forwards was good,

:00:46. > :00:49.hard yards and then some execution three on two and Tommy Seymour

:00:50. > :00:55.finishes it off. It was a fitting end to Vern Cotter. Very emotional.

:00:56. > :01:02.Yeah. And direction was incredible. Captain and coach, very close -- and

:01:03. > :01:05.the reaction was. It was a fitting end to Vern Cotter, who has been a

:01:06. > :01:11.brilliant coach was gotten and and has really developed the Scotland

:01:12. > :01:15.team. Big shoes to fill, no doubt about it. Vern Cotter has improved

:01:16. > :01:21.that Scotland team. They believe they have a genocide, they can

:01:22. > :01:31.actually close it out. -- they believe they have victory in sight.

:01:32. > :01:40.And we started the Six Nations with only three and build up to six or

:01:41. > :01:45.seven. I think Johnny Gray, Stewart Rahul Gandhi Tommy Seymour will get

:01:46. > :01:49.picked. I think Russell and Dunbar played himself into consideration.

:01:50. > :01:55.But what happened at Twickenham took them back down the pecking order. I

:01:56. > :02:01.think you Jones could have sneaked on. Hamish Watson has been

:02:02. > :02:09.outstanding but it is such a competitive position. If he goes,

:02:10. > :02:13.someone like war Britain, Brian, Haskel doesn't go. From a Scottish

:02:14. > :02:17.perspective, that's what I think. Let's look at the test 15 you will

:02:18. > :02:29.choose. I don't think anyone will disagree. On the Scottish person.

:02:30. > :02:33.Hogg. I think number 13 some people would say Jonathan Davies but for me

:02:34. > :02:36.he is a Test match animal he gets better the higher you go. I think

:02:37. > :02:44.Warren Gatland will lean on a few players. I think Owen Farrell has

:02:45. > :02:51.been outstanding. Anthony Watson and Lee Williams, not much between them.

:02:52. > :02:59.I think Rhys Webb comes into the mix but Murray and Sexton have great

:03:00. > :03:08.control. I think it is physical enough to take on the All Blacks. I

:03:09. > :03:17.think Vunipola makes an impact. Rory Best is my captain. He has had two

:03:18. > :03:24.victories and has captained Ireland to victory against the All Blacks

:03:25. > :03:37.and over England. The second row, Launchbury and Itoje. But is it a

:03:38. > :03:42.good team in Edinburgh dressing room? After the first 40 minutes it

:03:43. > :03:47.didn't look like it. They are behind in this game, conceding four tries.

:03:48. > :03:55.They have to start scoring. But Scarlets have their tails in the

:03:56. > :04:06.area. -- air. It is hard to believe that Edinburgh

:04:07. > :04:14.won in the early stages of the Pro12. It seems a long time ago.

:04:15. > :04:20.Scarlets are running riot and Edinburgh are a man down with Mata

:04:21. > :04:28.in the sin-bin. Where do they go from here? They just have to look at

:04:29. > :04:35.themselves. It is the leadership role now, who are the leaders in the

:04:36. > :04:39.Edinburgh team to take the game by the scruff of the neck and dragged

:04:40. > :04:43.them back? They have a lot of young players. But they will go nowhere

:04:44. > :04:52.unless the older heads get hold of the game and take it to Scarlets.

:04:53. > :05:04.Scarlets playing in red from left to right. Difficult to see if they have

:05:05. > :05:12.Du Preez at the back. A loose pass. All over the place. In trouble

:05:13. > :05:16.immediately. Fumbled. That sums it up, the way Edinburgh have been

:05:17. > :05:22.playing. It would be good as the ball came over but all of a sudden a

:05:23. > :05:29.loose pass. You don't want to coach a counterattack out of the players

:05:30. > :05:37.but Kinghorn has to look at teams of -- at himself. These decisions are

:05:38. > :05:49.ones the youngsters have to start making. They have to pick the game

:05:50. > :05:53.up and find some pace and effort, Edinburgh, because it is a long road

:05:54. > :06:00.home and we know they are going home later tonight after the game.

:06:01. > :06:13.The referee not happy. Slightly heavier pack, all things being

:06:14. > :06:21.equal. The Edinburgh pack is slightly heavier. Playing without

:06:22. > :06:29.Mata who is sitting on the bench blowers seeing -- below us seeing

:06:30. > :06:34.out his time. I talked about a quiet defence and I just watched the

:06:35. > :06:39.Edinburgh backs and the didn't look at each other or talk or pointed a

:06:40. > :06:46.finger, it is all about body language at this level. You have to

:06:47. > :06:52.let the opposition see you are up for it. These are things these

:06:53. > :07:01.players have to learn, big part of the game. Maybe a statement of

:07:02. > :07:17.intent with the quickly taken penalty. Duncan Weir hoists it.

:07:18. > :07:26.McNicholl is able to take. Patchell... Weir doesn't have a lot

:07:27. > :07:33.of options outside him. Patchell is in the middle basically running the

:07:34. > :07:46.game. A huge gap again. Just raised his head. No movement around him.

:07:47. > :08:10.Unceremoniously put to ground by Boyde. Hidalgo-Clyne with the aerial

:08:11. > :08:18.boot. This is what I said in the first half. Why do that? It was so

:08:19. > :08:24.easy, the easy ball would have got them with three or four men outside.

:08:25. > :08:31.It is concentration. They have to switch on. They may be think the

:08:32. > :08:40.game is won. They can't afford to follow sleep. They started off the

:08:41. > :08:45.night four points behind Ulster, head of Glasgow, we haven't touched

:08:46. > :08:49.on the fact that Scarlets could have done Glasgow a favour tonight by

:08:50. > :08:56.pulling the Scarlets back into the pack but it doesn't work like that

:08:57. > :09:04.is going to happen unless something dramatic happens. Edinburgh have

:09:05. > :09:10.lined up with three. Tom Brown consulting the bench. Not sure what

:09:11. > :09:20.he is trying to establish, maybe checking how long they are a man

:09:21. > :09:36.down. Edinburgh holding the ball is. Burleigh spills it. The with

:09:37. > :09:42.Scarlets. -- the advantage is with. Kinghorn stands between them and a

:09:43. > :09:57.slack pass. Edinburgh could have played on. Just a total hesitation,

:09:58. > :10:04.the whistle had not gone. Lack of communication again. Too many of

:10:05. > :10:08.these passes, basic errors. Both sides have been guilty of some

:10:09. > :10:18.scrappy play. A wonderful break year. The off-load and Davies off

:10:19. > :10:24.and running. I was just about to say that the scrum-half won't last long.

:10:25. > :10:45.There is a better player coming on the field. Mata is warming up on the

:10:46. > :11:00.touchline. Hidalgo-Clyne. Waiting for some stability. That was the

:11:01. > :11:08.marker to that ticket first. Kinghorn through. All the way to the

:11:09. > :11:17.line. Brought down just by Peter Short. The lack of numbers cost them

:11:18. > :11:27.there. Kinghorn was the only man staying on Burleigh's shoulder and

:11:28. > :11:37.that is what cost to them. He went clean through. Kinghorn, great

:11:38. > :11:47.support. That is how close Edinburgh are. If the Scarlets muck about

:11:48. > :11:51.then, you know. I suppose the next score is quite important. Here is

:11:52. > :11:57.the Welsh substitution, Gareth Davies. Kinghorn did the right

:11:58. > :12:06.thing. He clung on eventually but he needed another body. You have to get

:12:07. > :12:12.support. Scarlets in Goodbody positions to get that defence. He

:12:13. > :12:23.did well but here is another for the Scarlets. Edinburgh are back at

:12:24. > :12:41.fault. Numerically at least. -- back at full drain. -- falls strength.

:12:42. > :12:56.Again, Scarlets... A slack option. At half-time they would like a team

:12:57. > :13:06.that had left the first half blind. -- behind. They will have to keep

:13:07. > :13:16.playing to see this came out because Edinburgh have nothing to lose now,

:13:17. > :13:19.just have to go out and play. It is probably better that the pressure is

:13:20. > :13:27.off and the coach has just told them to go on and win the half and get

:13:28. > :13:37.some pride back. Ross Ford delivers off the top. Scarlets competing

:13:38. > :13:47.well, slowing the Edinburgh ball down. Just slightly pedestrian

:13:48. > :13:53.coming back. That is giving Scarlets plenty of time. Even two players

:13:54. > :13:59.back in reserve because they're so confident in the defence capability

:14:00. > :14:08.of the line. That was just off the bootlaces. Flattened for his

:14:09. > :14:15.trouble. Weir was left with no option but to send it straight down

:14:16. > :14:24.the throat of a red jersey. Williams. Up she goes. Almost

:14:25. > :14:31.vertical again. Brilliant. Shingler was pleading his case for the ball

:14:32. > :14:34.and hesitation in the Edinburgh ranks as the play breaks down,

:14:35. > :14:45.virtually waiting for Scarlets to stop. I was about to say I knew who

:14:46. > :14:49.I would put my money on. Look at the concentration. He whipped with a

:14:50. > :14:59.player was, never took his eye off it. And a good competition, fear

:15:00. > :15:13.competition with Tom Brown, but only one winner. Dell looks to be

:15:14. > :15:25.struggling. The referee has the clock stopped again. Dan Jones is

:15:26. > :15:28.coming on. Patchell is going off. He had his time, two wonderful tries in

:15:29. > :15:35.the first half, made his mark, and he is back. It is always hard coming

:15:36. > :15:40.back from an ankle injury, one of those areas where there is not much

:15:41. > :15:44.down there, just bones and gristle, and when you have had a bad injury,

:15:45. > :15:51.it plays on your mind. He is limping a little bit. Probably the rustiness

:15:52. > :15:56.getting out of the ankle. Good to see him back and he has done well on

:15:57. > :16:02.the pitch. He looked uncomfortable going in at half-time. They will be

:16:03. > :16:08.protecting him. They will not want him to have to do too much I

:16:09. > :16:14.suppose. By rights they would assume the game is won. Interesting to see

:16:15. > :16:21.what would happen if Edinburgh got seven points. That might make them

:16:22. > :16:27.think about where they needed to go for the rest of the game. Now they

:16:28. > :16:38.have the important change on the 9-10 axis, strengthened that clearly

:16:39. > :16:45.with seeing the game out in mind. Gareth Davies, 21, Dan Jones is 22.

:16:46. > :16:58.I am looking forward and I hope Barkley gets a fair go. I would like

:16:59. > :17:06.to see him up there. Kinghorn is running out pace over the top. Again

:17:07. > :17:14.the Welsh defence is good and solid but Edinburgh have them. And Tom

:17:15. > :17:22.Brown goes over the ball carefully. The experience of Davies will come

:17:23. > :17:29.in here. Edinburgh can keep this in play. Burleigh has it. There is a

:17:30. > :17:39.gap and he didn't get half enough on that. He almost foot bold it out. He

:17:40. > :17:48.has given it back to Burleigh with Du Preez behind him. On his own and

:17:49. > :17:52.isolated, this is the difficulty for Edinburgh when players make a break,

:17:53. > :18:06.the don't seem to be able to get their numbers static. Bresler

:18:07. > :18:19.looking a bit rusty. They Hakimi -- Fihaki takes it in. Ross Ford spider

:18:20. > :18:35.ring across the field. Slow from Edinburgh. Hidalgo-Clyne with a

:18:36. > :18:49.short pass to Berghan. There are seems to be no venture. Pretty

:18:50. > :18:54.pedestrian, no spark. Alan Dell is clearly in some sort of discomfort.

:18:55. > :18:58.An anxious look towards the bench five minutes ago. I suspect there

:18:59. > :19:10.will be another change. The very fact we have McInally and Gilchrist,

:19:11. > :19:18.McInally is making the point of stretching, as is Gilchrist.

:19:19. > :19:24.McInally is an interesting one. Changed position from back row to

:19:25. > :19:29.hooker. They would expect him to take over from Ross for and in the

:19:30. > :19:37.Scotland jersey but they would have to give him longer to get headed in.

:19:38. > :19:44.John Lacey not happy with how Edinburgh are taken overly long to

:19:45. > :19:47.get into the line. You would think there would be more enthusiasm

:19:48. > :19:59.because they have a good field position here. Edging forward.

:20:00. > :20:04.Hidalgo-Clyne trying to find it. He has been told to use it but he can't

:20:05. > :20:10.find it. Have the Welsh snaffled at? The referee is bringing them back

:20:11. > :20:18.for a knock-on rather than a penalty. I see Grant Gilchrist

:20:19. > :20:27.putting the helmet on and McInally, I would imagine they would come on

:20:28. > :20:35.for this scrum. Ross Ford and Bresler come off. His first season.

:20:36. > :20:45.Beginning to fuel the pace -- feel the pace. He has had a big Six

:20:46. > :20:54.Nations. McCallum has come on as well. McInally and Gilchrist as

:20:55. > :21:07.well. Put him on as a loose end, McCallum, interesting. Dell is off,

:21:08. > :21:17.gingerly walking down the touchline. Ross Ford, 107 caps, getting close

:21:18. > :21:24.to Chris Patterson. 109 is he? It depends when you ask him. Good

:21:25. > :21:41.chance for Edinburgh. Fresh legs, plenty of beef added to the mix.

:21:42. > :21:50.Enthusiasm from the subs. John Lacey says there was an early knowledge. I

:21:51. > :21:58.thought that was drifting back in. A lovely kick. Let's see what the

:21:59. > :22:06.fresh legs bring to the table. Another look at the kick. It looked

:22:07. > :22:10.like it was fading back in. Tom Brown has half a notion it was going

:22:11. > :22:17.to drop into his arms. Let's see what McInally makes of the last

:22:18. > :22:28.three additions. I think the wind has dropped. Straight as a die. If

:22:29. > :22:42.they could get it back quicker. Hidalgo-Clyne misses out Gilchrist

:22:43. > :22:50.who is being held by the ankles. Davies read that well. Kelly Kraft,

:22:51. > :22:53.and the end result is a penalty. You sometimes have to solve as you go

:22:54. > :23:01.forward and he worked it out and thought he was going out to catch

:23:02. > :23:11.Weir. He read it perfectly. A bit of a debate between Parkes and the rest

:23:12. > :23:17.of the team, Parkes seems to want to go for the post but instead down the

:23:18. > :23:23.line. Edinburgh under the cosh again because this is ideal attacking

:23:24. > :23:26.position, the first time Scarlets have really threatened and the

:23:27. > :23:43.second half. They have certainly taken therefore off the pedal --

:23:44. > :23:54.they're foot. Cue the coaches tearing their hair out. That is a

:23:55. > :24:02.poor effort. The wind is not as problematic as it was. There is no

:24:03. > :24:09.indication of any difficulty at all. This is the position Edinburgh are

:24:10. > :24:16.defending to our right. Still a hard exit. They have to clear their lines

:24:17. > :24:28.and have a steady scrum and it's just a free kick away. That is a

:24:29. > :24:41.good scrum from young McCallum at end. -- at loose end. A stumble in

:24:42. > :24:45.the end from Burleigh. Delivered somewhere above his head. The last

:24:46. > :24:56.thing you want when you're standing in the line. Here come the

:24:57. > :25:06.reinforcements for the Scarlets. Number 23 is Van der Merwe, soon to

:25:07. > :25:15.be of Newcastle. And Phillips will replace Elias. I think there is a

:25:16. > :25:21.debate as to who is going off for Van der Merwe. It is Liam Williams.

:25:22. > :25:30.Saving him for another day. Job done. Williams has gone off rather

:25:31. > :25:42.than Steph Evans, who has gone back over to his position on the

:25:43. > :25:53.fireside. -- far side. McNicholl, the strong Kiwi, delivers it on a

:25:54. > :25:58.plate. A penalty to end bra. Hidalgo-Clyne had a little look and

:25:59. > :26:02.there was a Welsh player in midfield and John Lacey picked that up.

:26:03. > :26:10.Didn't want players running all over him, understandably. We are just

:26:11. > :26:22.about at one hour and Edinburgh have stemmed the flow. Just checking what

:26:23. > :26:26.John Lacey is going to do. Parkes trying to intervene on behalf of his

:26:27. > :26:33.player. I thought the referee was come to look at that. One player one

:26:34. > :26:51.player, Gilchrist and one of other Edinburgh players Weir has the ball

:26:52. > :27:22.ready to put it somewhere in the Scarlets but

:27:23. > :28:08.kept I think Scarlets coaches this is not the team when the to take the

:28:09. > :28:16.hard yards and they have tried to go wide I think the Jonathan Davies

:28:17. > :28:49.getting a massive amount of strapping here is playing on the

:28:50. > :28:49.back foot most if Edinburgh are to get into this I

:28:50. > :29:24.think they one in the would like to see scrum. They

:29:25. > :29:46.have trashed Edinburgh. Look at that pick-up at the back of it Edinburgh

:29:47. > :30:02.passing on the other side of the field and

:30:03. > :30:19.let's have a view on the second watching Phil Bennett of mistakes,

:30:20. > :30:26.no shape. You think somebody like Duncan Wear has 1817 minutes. Get

:30:27. > :30:40.some structure. The next game is la Rochelle in the European Challenge

:30:41. > :31:03.Cup. Let's see if they can get something out of they

:31:04. > :31:27.a doesn't make his physicality he doesn't get into slow the

:31:28. > :31:33.They are beginning to throw it around. This can only be tiring for

:31:34. > :31:38.the Edinburgh players as well as anything else, there are shuffling

:31:39. > :31:50.it just one pass too many on the far side. Half of Llanelli waiting now,

:31:51. > :31:52.here they come. McNichol, Davies. But still, they manage to recycle

:31:53. > :32:03.it, take it back in. Edinburgh Strong out across the

:32:04. > :32:30.field. Options on both sides now. They just

:32:31. > :32:39.overran him, Evans inside. The Welsh beginning to up the auntie. Going

:32:40. > :32:51.for a flourish. Still only at 65 minutes -- up the ante. They had

:32:52. > :32:56.extra man. Total frustration here. It's like they don't want to score a

:32:57. > :33:04.try. They have bombed opportunity after opportunity. Edinburgh doing

:33:05. > :33:09.their best at wrestling. Nothing doing. The gap outside the player

:33:10. > :33:16.there. I don't know if anyone can spot it. There is a line of red

:33:17. > :33:29.shirts here, Alan. Edinburgh did well and they've ripped it. Quick

:33:30. > :33:33.transfer of the ball. . Retains ball, retains possession, recycles

:33:34. > :33:45.it. Makes traders and spill it. Edinburgh could do that. Wire,

:33:46. > :33:49.lovely pass! And a penalty. That is more like the Scarlets we saw in the

:33:50. > :33:56.first half. There are some good rugby there. I just can't understand

:33:57. > :34:07.what they were doing. Edinburgh did well to pull them out. It's just too

:34:08. > :34:13.fancy at times. Down trying to... And they have flooded the pitch. And

:34:14. > :34:17.now half have them have been brought back. I don't know what they are

:34:18. > :34:27.looking to do. He was never going to get it. One or two Welsh players

:34:28. > :34:32.going down with cramp as well. I reckon John Barclay will come and

:34:33. > :34:40.now just to finish this game. He's limping, making the point. Number 17

:34:41. > :34:47.will get there first. Evans, he is stripped and ready to go. Barclay is

:34:48. > :34:57.being told to sit down. In the nicest possible way, not just yet.

:34:58. > :35:11.Still McInally. Taken in the middle of the line by Ben Toolis. Edinburgh

:35:12. > :35:26.go on the march, Scarlets let them come. That's messy. By said that

:35:27. > :35:34.even before the ball came shooting out of the side. The position is

:35:35. > :35:44.retrieved. Edinburgh have plenty of men here. Burleigh to the rear.

:35:45. > :35:53.Choked again. That's a bit high. He might find himself in the benefit

:35:54. > :36:00.happens again. John Lacey, penalty only was his decision. Well, you

:36:01. > :36:07.have a case, Alan. A couple he has slipped high. I probably won't meet

:36:08. > :36:14.that guy again. But he has been warned! He's a New Zealander. But I

:36:15. > :36:21.would describe... What do you mean? Like a bag of. I've never seen a New

:36:22. > :36:26.Zealander without shame. He just plods about -- with that shape. He

:36:27. > :36:31.gets caught all the time with his footwork. The Edinburgh branch has

:36:32. > :36:39.been emptied, Duncan Weir is gone. He is replaced by Jason Tovey. Glenn

:36:40. > :36:51.Bryce has gone over to the far side. Just having a cheque at, Kinghorn is

:36:52. > :36:57.wondering. He's wandering off the pitch, that's all I can say.

:36:58. > :37:01.Kinghorn is definitely off. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, normal

:37:02. > :37:09.service has resumed with a Scarlet even without John, winning the

:37:10. > :37:18.contest at the grand hands down. Phillips their number 16. -- at the

:37:19. > :37:23.ground. Some pretty dejected looking Edinburgh players, I can put it that

:37:24. > :37:29.way. Just the way Blair Kinghorn came off the field there. He's not

:37:30. > :37:32.happy, the young lad. He's a young lad and probably thinks that getting

:37:33. > :37:38.Camino, being brought off the field is a little bit of a kick in the

:37:39. > :37:44.teeth. It is a 23 man game now, he needs impact players now. They all

:37:45. > :37:48.need to add something. If the coaching staff who think they can

:37:49. > :37:57.add something, you've got to do it. There's only ten minutes left. We

:37:58. > :38:01.have Tovey at stand-off, Burleigh inside centre. Chris Dean is still

:38:02. > :38:17.there, we have Tom Brown on this wing. And we have Bryce at

:38:18. > :38:22.full-back. And remarkably, five tries in the first half, not a

:38:23. > :38:28.single school since half-time! Just get the scoring. Did we miss

:38:29. > :38:39.something? Little nudge from Edinburgh. Scarlets stand firm.

:38:40. > :38:48.Let's see what Glenn Bryce makes of it with his first intervention. Made

:38:49. > :38:50.ground. Just a lack of numbers, Edinburgh not committing players to

:38:51. > :39:15.the breakdown. Tom Brown. Scrappy ball. It's a bit high in

:39:16. > :39:31.the. Caught and held up. Chris Dean has a go. Makes ten metres. I have

:39:32. > :39:37.never seen anybody look like him. Again the line speed is good. I

:39:38. > :39:45.suspect that for the last ten minutes, this is where they want to

:39:46. > :39:48.play. Turnover is good. It's not the first time I've heard that. And the

:39:49. > :40:03.turnover is good again, but the other way. Let's see how far it will

:40:04. > :40:10.go. And again, the ambition of... And eventually, enough's enough.

:40:11. > :40:21.Discretion is the better part. Number 17 will make sure he is on,

:40:22. > :40:31.Evans coming on. APPLAUSE A big hand them as the... You can

:40:32. > :40:34.see on their faces, Wyn Jones is being greeted there. He has put in a

:40:35. > :40:47.decent shift. Scarlets has basically done enough

:40:48. > :40:51.to control the second half, but I suspect they might get a rock or two

:40:52. > :40:59.when they get back in, because they really should have moved on a bit.

:41:00. > :41:05.Fowles. Look at that. They have done well to get out again. Davies just

:41:06. > :41:13.showing his quality now about the 13 defensive channel. Three Edinburgh

:41:14. > :41:27.players here, let's see what they can do. Du Preez. Slightly lumbering

:41:28. > :41:30.approach to that, he is hacked back. Scrappy in a Welsh player down in

:41:31. > :41:39.some discomfort on the far side there. I have to say, looking at the

:41:40. > :41:44.Edinburgh players at the moment, number 18, Kevin Bryce has come on

:41:45. > :41:48.now as well. Some of them are heaving around. They are finding the

:41:49. > :41:57.pace Camino Scarlets are not giving it full blatter, so the Edinburgh

:41:58. > :42:05.players are looking sluggish -- they are finding the pace, even though

:42:06. > :42:12.Scarlets. It's getting the pipes warmed up again. Simon Berghan is

:42:13. > :42:19.off. Being replaced by Kevin Bryce, so still we have Scarlets 26,

:42:20. > :42:24.Edinburgh ten. Four tries to one. Bonus point, job done at half-time.

:42:25. > :42:32.To all intents and purposes, that is it. Very little headway in the

:42:33. > :42:42.second half. Now we have number 19. It is coming on, Lewis Rawlins.

:42:43. > :42:45.Gigantic player. If one of these players had dropped on in your time,

:42:46. > :42:50.you'd have thought it was a novelty. But now they are all the same. The

:42:51. > :42:57.Scarlets pack is virtually... This is maybe the exception, James

:42:58. > :43:03.Davies. More of a power pack, battery-operated, always fizzing. A

:43:04. > :43:07.real nuisance. He paid the price there. He got to Iraq row of the

:43:08. > :43:13.Edinburgh forwards up the top. It only takes your foot or ankle or

:43:14. > :43:22.need to get stuck -- he got two up of the front row. Hopefully he'll be

:43:23. > :43:27.OK. Big hand for James Davies, he has done the business. No point

:43:28. > :43:33.leaving him on when there could be any question that he might be

:43:34. > :43:37.injured going forward. Scarlets have shovelled them yet again. They've

:43:38. > :43:40.still got it. He could have let them go on even further back, John Lacey.

:43:41. > :45:15.But pulled them back. STUDIO: We appear to have lost our

:45:16. > :45:22.commentators for the moment. No point added in the second half. Not

:45:23. > :45:28.huge excitement! I think the commentators just walked out. It

:45:29. > :45:32.hasn't been a great second half. Scarlets had this game after 30

:45:33. > :45:36.minutes, probably even earlier. They got the bonus point and it has just

:45:37. > :45:39.been very scrappy. There is a lot of effort, but that is the bare

:45:40. > :45:42.minimum. That is what you expect from a professional team. The

:45:43. > :45:45.quality has not been there, the skill level has not been there.

:45:46. > :45:49.There is no shape in attack or defence. The Edinburgh side needs a

:45:50. > :45:55.lot of work done. Richard Cockerill has a hell of a job. They need

:45:56. > :46:03.guidance, they need help. They need someone with some experience. And

:46:04. > :46:06.Scarlets, they needed a bonus point tonight. They got it in the first

:46:07. > :46:10.half and almost making things a bit too conjugated in the second half.

:46:11. > :46:13.Just to try and put on phases together -- to conquer catered. They

:46:14. > :46:19.are just head and shoulders above the Edinburgh team. Jonathan Davies

:46:20. > :46:22.and Liam Williams have been outstanding, there are world-class

:46:23. > :46:25.players here, for a number of years now. They have quality.

:46:26. > :46:35.Collectively, they are much better. Hopefully we can get the

:46:36. > :46:39.commentators back down now. COMMENTATOR: Scarlets still piling

:46:40. > :46:43.forward, they have extra men here. Extra men on both sides. Edinburgh

:46:44. > :46:49.have competed well again. You can just see what Scarlets are doing

:46:50. > :46:51.here. They are trying to finish, to get one Moore scored to put

:46:52. > :46:58.something on the table for their effort in the second half. They

:46:59. > :47:01.increased the tempo. It is the 76th minute and the defence has probably

:47:02. > :47:07.worked, it has all night for Edinburgh, but it is far too late.

:47:08. > :47:11.They need to learn from this and go away. They have a big European

:47:12. > :47:15.quarterfinal next week. That defence has to be from the first minutes,

:47:16. > :47:21.not in the last few minutes. It's certainly stemmed the tide, but if

:47:22. > :47:27.you take the current review of that, Scarlets have taken away all their

:47:28. > :47:34.threats and banked them for the future. -- if you take the counter

:47:35. > :47:45.view. The defence of penalties were there for everyone to see. I'm sure

:47:46. > :47:55.Lara Shell La Rochelle would have noticed that -- I'm sure La

:47:56. > :48:00.Rochelle. Off it goes. And then just disintegrates. Shrug of the

:48:01. > :48:03.shoulders from the referee. You have to be confident with the scrum if

:48:04. > :48:08.you go for the know-how, and Olympic Edinburgh are in a position to do

:48:09. > :48:17.that. You have to make it decision quickly -- and I don't think

:48:18. > :48:27.Edinburgh. That is banking on your scrum. Being able to shift those.

:48:28. > :48:38.That's one way of keeping warm! Just as well the camera hasn't fixed on

:48:39. > :48:46.my colleague, who isn't quite as elegant. Heading for the last

:48:47. > :48:51.minute, we've got 1.5 minutes or thereabouts. And again, the ball...

:48:52. > :48:57.John Lacey has rescued it. They got the penalty, but more through John

:48:58. > :49:03.Lacey's intervention than any effort Edinburgh managed to put into it.

:49:04. > :49:07.The Scarlets could have just driven them back over. Edinburgh manage TE

:49:08. > :49:17.is the pressure. As the clock relentlessly eases towards full-time

:49:18. > :49:22.-- manage to use the pressure. It would appear that we're not playing

:49:23. > :49:26.the 100 minute version of the game tonight, thankfully. It's noticeable

:49:27. > :49:30.that Tovey has taken a bit more of a group of the game in terms of

:49:31. > :49:37.directing traffic. He has had to say. Yeah. Does he have influence?

:49:38. > :49:43.He has something on a midfield. Defensively, and he has put a little

:49:44. > :49:51.stab in there. Just a bit too far ahead. That is scrappy. That's not

:49:52. > :50:00.quite enough to rescue Edinburgh. I have been a bit cruel. A bag of

:50:01. > :50:07.Shepherd 's pie! He is man of the match! What?! He is man of the

:50:08. > :50:14.match. He gets involved, I'm not knocking that, but he doesn't offer

:50:15. > :50:18.anything else. That's fatigue. It's nothing else but fatigue. In 20

:50:19. > :50:26.minutes come he has been gone. He's probably had to stay on because

:50:27. > :50:43.there aren't a lot of sobs. Another player -- a lot of substitutions.

:50:44. > :50:50.Nathan Fowles. I think Jonathan has been outstanding out there.

:50:51. > :51:00.Edinburgh scrabbling to get something out of the game. Ten than

:51:01. > :51:06.the other way, there was no option for Chris Dean, you just know where

:51:07. > :51:09.to go. Scarlets have suffocated the Edinburgh midfield. Nathan Fowles

:51:10. > :51:17.sees a gap. An Edinburgh player injured. Number 18, Kevin Bryce.

:51:18. > :51:22.Long pass out to Mata. The captain buzz side. Flourish from Edinburgh

:51:23. > :51:25.to finish, perhaps, but they have spilled it. Gilchrist keeps it

:51:26. > :51:33.didn't play. John Lacey is given a penalty to Scarlets. The Scarlets

:51:34. > :51:40.can relax because the job is done, and the penalty will be the final

:51:41. > :51:45.action of the play. John Lacey just making sure that that is executed,

:51:46. > :51:49.the ball is in the hands of Dan Jones, who will send it into the

:51:50. > :51:56.crowd. John Lacey will decide that that is that. That man was key to

:51:57. > :52:00.the whole thing. Rhys Patchell. Had he been on for the whole game, he

:52:01. > :52:03.would've been man of the match. If he played like he did in the first

:52:04. > :52:09.25 minutes come he would have sailed through this. He has run the game

:52:10. > :52:13.well. After such a long lay-off, it is tricky with the ankles. He has

:52:14. > :52:19.come back and scored tries, a 50 metre try, I think. There we go, it

:52:20. > :52:24.has been a difficult night. Thank you for your contribution to the

:52:25. > :52:28.night. It has been a difficult night, and La Rochelle beckons for

:52:29. > :52:38.Edinburgh next week. That it from Parc y Scarlets, it has finished as

:52:39. > :52:42.it was at half-time. 26-10. STUDIO: We've been trying to entertain

:52:43. > :52:46.ourselves in these last few minutes by wearing our red noses. That was

:52:47. > :52:54.hard to watch. It was. Whether any laughs all gags or anything? That

:52:55. > :52:57.was a tough 40 minutes. Both sides just quality dropped off,

:52:58. > :53:03.Edinburgh's quality wasn't there in the first off, but Scarlets was. I

:53:04. > :53:06.got this -- they got the bonus point in the first half but took their

:53:07. > :53:09.foot off the gas. Mentally they went, and they were just trying all

:53:10. > :53:14.these passes. It was a tough 40 minutes. All the damage was done in

:53:15. > :53:18.the first half. Scarlets off to a great start, and it was Rhys

:53:19. > :53:22.Patchell with a try in the third minute. A little too easy from an

:53:23. > :53:27.Edinburgh defence point of view. Far too easy. It is the foot race for 50

:53:28. > :53:30.metres. He had the pace. Hidalgo-Clyne is quick and so it is

:53:31. > :53:34.Kinghorn, but they couldn't get back to them. It was cheesy. This was the

:53:35. > :53:42.forwards, very nice and easy, Jones just goes in there. -- it was too

:53:43. > :53:49.easy. James Davies, the next two tries were all about Hadleigh

:53:50. > :53:54.Parkes's pass. You can see they are going through the repertoire. Watch

:53:55. > :53:57.the weight of Hadleigh Parkes and the awareness of whether support is.

:53:58. > :54:01.You just hold the depth there from James Davies and comes through. It

:54:02. > :54:06.was a really well worked try. And then Patchell comes in again. They

:54:07. > :54:12.try different things, let us go for the trip over by the scrum-half.

:54:13. > :54:16.Jonathan Davies should have -- showed the strength, taking candy

:54:17. > :54:19.from a baby. It was only going to finish in one way. Another good pass

:54:20. > :54:25.from Hadleigh Parkes and Patel got the first try. That was game over.

:54:26. > :54:31.Done them, and that was in the first have -- and Patchell got. Patchell

:54:32. > :54:35.scored a try in the third minute and again in the 31st minute. He hadn't

:54:36. > :54:41.played since Christmas, and yet he beat all those Edinburgh backs to

:54:42. > :54:45.that foot race stopped and he came from Cardiff at the start of the

:54:46. > :54:52.season. He is a good playmaker. He has a good physique and a good boot,

:54:53. > :54:58.and so he has the everything. It will be adjusting to see how he

:54:59. > :55:04.develops. Edinburgh did get a try, from Burleigh. In the 27th minute.

:55:05. > :55:13.It was 19-8 other point. A bit of excitement. -- 19- it at that point.

:55:14. > :55:17.Pressurising Alan Davies, and then Allan Dell, good awareness and

:55:18. > :55:22.off-loading ability to Phil Burleigh. That goes back to

:55:23. > :55:26.Edinburgh at 19-10, there are back in it but they never were. That was

:55:27. > :55:29.the only glimmer. There was one playing the first half that is a

:55:30. > :55:32.perfect example of how Edinburgh would get things together, break

:55:33. > :55:37.down suddenly. They did it in the second half as well. They had a nice

:55:38. > :55:44.break to nothing, really. They get the ball back. The turnover. Scrappy

:55:45. > :55:48.ball there, Lee Williams gets another. China ball commits what you

:55:49. > :55:56.want. Chris Dean does well here. And then it is Kinghorn. That sums up

:55:57. > :56:02.Edinburgh, moments where they were good. Second half, pretty easy, look

:56:03. > :56:10.at Kinghorn, he has the gas. Any footwork and a bit of a handoff,

:56:11. > :56:14.five Scarlets before one Edinburgh and it is turnover. That just sounds

:56:15. > :56:22.up Edinburgh. Moments of hope, and then nothing. That you are Chris

:56:23. > :56:28.Morris guys on the park are up there trying to clear out all those

:56:29. > :56:33.players back their -- the two smallest players. Let's talk about

:56:34. > :56:37.the lines, we talked about your starting 15. We didn't get into the

:56:38. > :56:40.back row forwards are necessarily. There won't be any Edinburgh players

:56:41. > :56:49.there. One or two scholars. Let's talk through this. You got as far as

:56:50. > :56:59.Launchbury. Good at Six Nations. The back row is so competitive. Greg

:57:00. > :57:06.ball -- great ball carrier in CJ Stander. You know, listen, it's very

:57:07. > :57:10.subjective. I think that is a packer could take on the All Blacks. It

:57:11. > :57:16.could control the half-backs, the backline and some magic in the

:57:17. > :57:20.backroom Stuart Hogg. Absolutely fantastic during the Six Nations, a

:57:21. > :57:26.fearsome player. It can change. There is lots of rugby to play, some

:57:27. > :57:33.injuries. I don't think it will be far away from it. Why do Edinburgh

:57:34. > :57:37.go from here? Well, a huge game against La Rochelle next Friday

:57:38. > :57:43.night I gradually filled -- at Murrayfield. La Rochelle top, or

:57:44. > :57:47.even second in the Top 14 in France, a good side. Edinburgh must play way

:57:48. > :57:54.better than that tonight. That was not good. Can they do that, given

:57:55. > :57:57.the performances given in, six on the bounce lost? The momentum is

:57:58. > :58:01.very difficult. It is going to be tough, but not sure they've got it

:58:02. > :58:04.at the moment. It is very difficult. More coming up on television,

:58:05. > :58:15.Edinburgh are in action. They will against on the 7th of April. Then

:58:16. > :58:18.the next night, months against Glasgow, a hugely important game for

:58:19. > :58:22.Glasgow. They have to go over to Munster and get a win. They're

:58:23. > :58:27.probably have to get a bonus point as well, hugely important. On Good

:58:28. > :58:33.Friday, we're back with Glasgow against zebra. A huge important one

:58:34. > :58:36.for Glasgow. They have to win all of you want to get into the top four.

:58:37. > :58:41.You're expected at the bonus point, but towards the end we've got the

:58:42. > :58:47.1872 second leg as well, lots to look forward to input well. It's

:58:48. > :58:53.been a very difficult night from an Edinburgh point of view. Four tries

:58:54. > :58:55.to one, 20 6-10, it is tough. Thank you very much indeed, it wasn't easy

:58:56. > :59:09.to watch. -- 26-10. Goodbye. The alternative spirit of 6 Music

:59:10. > :59:40.comes to Glasgow, I expect you'll want to become

:59:41. > :00:10.a schoolmaster? That's what most of the gentlemen

:00:11. > :00:12.does that get sent down for indecent behaviour.

:00:13. > :00:16.Evelyn Waugh's classic novel.
