:00:35. > :00:44.Finals day at Queen's. You can feel the anticipation, the excitement,

:00:45. > :00:49.the tension. It's a reminder of the 127 years of history and of the

:00:50. > :01:01.tennis greats who have lifted this magnificent trophy.

:01:02. > :01:12.This afternoon two men with some unfinished business in this event go

:01:13. > :01:20.head-to-head. Croatia's Marin Cilic won this title

:01:21. > :01:31.in 2012, but was deprived at the winning moment. Five years on, will

:01:32. > :01:36.he experience that today? Spain's Feliciano Lopez was runner

:01:37. > :01:51.up here in 2014. Three years later, is the stage set for his redemption?

:01:52. > :02:00.Whose name will be etched on the cup - the Croat's or at 35 will the

:02:01. > :02:06.Spaniard become Queen's oldest champion. Will the dream come true?

:02:07. > :02:10.He's up against a man who looks like he's playing his best tennis ever.

:02:11. > :02:15.So, the final is set. It is Cilic against Lopez. If you look at the

:02:16. > :02:19.head-to-head, Cilic leads 5-2. They have only met twice on grass. Both

:02:20. > :02:25.went three sets. On one occasion here, Lopez had a match point. So

:02:26. > :02:29.evenly balanced going into the Aegon championship final today.

:02:30. > :02:33.And joining me here Peter and John. Peter, we looked here - they have

:02:34. > :02:39.been the form players, haven't they? Both look like they are playing the

:02:40. > :02:44.best tennis ever. Even Lopez? Both have lost their serve only once this

:02:45. > :02:47.week. Cilic, especially I think is, he's a real threat to win anything

:02:48. > :02:52.on this surface now. A service great. His forehand has become a

:02:53. > :02:59.great weapon. Very impressive. And John, you were calling the match

:03:00. > :03:07.last night when Lopez beat Dimitrov. How good was he in that third set?

:03:08. > :03:12.He was absolutely awesome. In the second set, his drop to 51%, which

:03:13. > :03:18.is a sign sometimes of tiredness not reaching up. In the third set up to

:03:19. > :03:22.62%. His serve was magnificent. His backhand slice, which was what I

:03:23. > :03:26.think won him the match, in my opinion, it's the best slice on

:03:27. > :03:31.grass in the world. He's got so much variation. He's

:03:32. > :03:34.approach shots, he kept going straight, deep into Dimitrov

:03:35. > :03:39.backhand. In the end, started missing passing shots. And we were

:03:40. > :03:44.worried about how tired he would be - because he's had three-set matches

:03:45. > :03:48.last week in Stuttgart. Here coming a match point down against Berdych.

:03:49. > :03:53.Played his best tennis towards the end of the match. At 35 he might be

:03:54. > :03:56.in the best shape of his life. It is incredible how low he gets down to

:03:57. > :04:03.the ball, which is so important on this surface and just how seemingly,

:04:04. > :04:08.when you think he's got to be tired, even emotionally, mentally he's got

:04:09. > :04:14.to be tired, and yet, none of it. He keeps coming. And it will be a brave

:04:15. > :04:18.guy to say he couldn't keep it going one more match. Absolutely because

:04:19. > :04:22.the motivation is there. This title is so important to both players.

:04:23. > :04:25.More so probably Lopez, having got so close. He had a match point

:04:26. > :04:30.against Dimitrov in the final. He dearly wants to win here. He does.

:04:31. > :04:34.He loves the event. He deserves to win this title in some ways because

:04:35. > :04:38.he's been at it for so long and been so close. I know it is an

:04:39. > :04:43.interesting thing from his camp, he pulled out of Eastbourne next week.

:04:44. > :04:47.He was loath to do that. He's had such success at Eastbourne and loves

:04:48. > :04:52.playing on grass. I think they genuinely believe his camp not only

:04:53. > :04:55.can he win here but do serious damage at Wimbledon and he needs a

:04:56. > :04:59.week off. I think they made the right decision. They have a full

:05:00. > :05:04.house here. They have taken their seats early. It will be a good

:05:05. > :05:10.final, a well-thought out final. Two grass court players who are playing

:05:11. > :05:18.at their best, and both know that they need to come out and start off

:05:19. > :05:21.quickly. Yes, so, right at the very start this match could be great. And

:05:22. > :05:31.coming out with the players, they are brothers and sisters, part of

:05:32. > :05:34.the August gone futures player -- of the Aegon futures players. They have

:05:35. > :05:38.both won national tournaments in their age group. This is a big

:05:39. > :05:43.moment. They will get a taste of what it is like to come out on a

:05:44. > :05:49.Centre Court. He's having a chat, making her nervous. It is a bit

:05:50. > :05:54.nervous. Everyone is looking forward to this match because we lost Murray

:05:55. > :05:58.and Wawrinka and Raonic. All of those going out so early on. But

:05:59. > :06:01.when you look at these two players with a match-up on grass, they are

:06:02. > :06:06.two of the best on grass around. Absolutely. Don't forget this man

:06:07. > :06:12.has won a Grand Slam title. Because people don't know him as well as the

:06:13. > :06:16.top ones because he's in an era where we have Djokovic, Murray and

:06:17. > :06:20.so on. He's one heck of a player. Both love this surface. They are

:06:21. > :06:24.both experts on it. They know how to play. I agree with what Peter said

:06:25. > :06:28.about the start, you better start quick. If you come out here and try

:06:29. > :06:32.and fill your way in, if you go down a break of serve against either one

:06:33. > :06:36.of these, the set is almost over because they are so brutal behind

:06:37. > :06:43.their first serves. Their serving percentages has been amazing. 91% of

:06:44. > :06:48.first serves in. And points won on the first serve. They've both got

:06:49. > :06:55.such a big weapon. It will be hard to break. It will be difficult to

:06:56. > :07:00.break. The overall for tie-breakers has to be around two here. We might

:07:01. > :07:05.see, maybe one, two, maybe even three tie-breaks because they are so

:07:06. > :07:12.dominant on serve. Interestingly, a nice little tip bit that I heard

:07:13. > :07:16.just a moment ago, only two active players have won more grass court

:07:17. > :07:21.matches than Feliciano Lopez. That's a pretty incredible stat. Roger

:07:22. > :07:25.Federer and Andy Murray. He's won more grass court matches than any

:07:26. > :07:30.other active player. He's admitting that he's probably in the best shape

:07:31. > :07:34.now. He had an injury earlier in the year and lost a lot of matches.

:07:35. > :07:38.Coming into form at the right time. I was talking to his agent an hour

:07:39. > :07:45.ago. We were saying that he wishes the rest of the year was on grass.

:07:46. > :07:54.Cilic looks so relaxed. He's been chatting with Stephanie, probably

:07:55. > :07:57.all about her tennis. Coming out for a big final most athletes want to

:07:58. > :08:03.get their game-face on. He looks like he's enjoying the occasion.

:08:04. > :08:07.Interestingly last night he was waiting to go and play doubles. It

:08:08. > :08:11.was threatening to rain. I asked him, are you going to move out on

:08:12. > :08:16.the outside court? Are you going to play... ? I don't know. He was so

:08:17. > :08:20.relaxed. It was like, I'll play when they tell me to play. I think he's

:08:21. > :08:23.in a good place right now. Oh, here we go.

:08:24. > :08:34.Throw it up! Feliciano Lopez has won the toss.

:08:35. > :08:44.So a lovely photo. That's something for the album for the Viera family.

:08:45. > :08:49.Well done to the children. I was talking earlier today, I said,

:08:50. > :08:53.your man is playing well. He said, I have got him coming forward, got him

:08:54. > :08:57.coming to the net. When you see him play it is almost to the baseline.

:08:58. > :09:01.That is what we picked up from the start. Anything after that first

:09:02. > :09:04.strike, you can see he's moving a foot to two feet inside the

:09:05. > :09:08.baseline. Anything short, he gobbles it up, smacks it with a forehand and

:09:09. > :09:15.comes in. You have to love the way he plays. So aggressive. Think when

:09:16. > :09:20.he was 16/17 his forehand was his weakness. Not any more. That is what

:09:21. > :09:24.I like. Two feet on the baseline, gives his opponent no time to breath

:09:25. > :09:30.and he's on to him. And the serve sets it up. The big serve and then

:09:31. > :09:35.he can move in. He knows that people can rarely attack... It is hard to

:09:36. > :09:38.believe the first six, seven years of his career all he did was hit a

:09:39. > :09:43.kicker, a heavy kicker, of course. When he started off a couple of

:09:44. > :09:50.years ago, Goran said, are you crazy? You've got a potentially huge

:09:51. > :09:56.weapon and you don't use it! He now uses it all the time. Let's hear

:09:57. > :09:59.what he had to say yesterday. He spoke to Russell Fuller.

:10:00. > :10:06.The last couple of months found consistency in my tennis, having

:10:07. > :10:10.good results. Very consistent playing high-level tennis week after

:10:11. > :10:15.week. That is what is paying off for me, especially this week. For me it

:10:16. > :10:23.would mean a lot if I could win it here again. 2012, something

:10:24. > :10:30.definitely positive. I got the title in the end. Not the way obviously

:10:31. > :10:37.what I wanted, but you know, back this year. Again third final over

:10:38. > :10:42.here in Queen's. Showing good form. Especially at this moment of the

:10:43. > :10:46.year. Going to enjoy the final and hopefully I can get the trophy

:10:47. > :10:50.again. You have had scraps with Feliciano over the years. Recently

:10:51. > :10:54.you have got the better of him in a few matches? In the French Open, we

:10:55. > :10:59.played a couple of weeks ago and here we have played a couple of

:11:00. > :11:02.times in Queen. It is tight matches, just slight differences in those

:11:03. > :11:08.ones. It will be definitely a tough one.

:11:09. > :11:13.Yes, expecting a tough one. Look at his stats, 20 aces, 27 in all. Fired

:11:14. > :11:18.47 winners yesterday. Most of them on his backhand. Big weapons, not

:11:19. > :11:26.just the serve. He's looked at his forehand. You look, that is his big

:11:27. > :11:31.go shot. You can see there, the semi-finals, obviously that was a

:11:32. > :11:35.tough match, but other than that, he's been dominant. He's so

:11:36. > :11:38.confident. He just backed up everything well. I like the way he

:11:39. > :11:44.volleys. I agree with Peter, I think a lot of credit has to go to Goran.

:11:45. > :11:55.He's not with him any more. I think he helped big time on his serve. At

:11:56. > :12:03.that stage even throw his serve was good. It is almost a perfect serve

:12:04. > :12:09.now. A couple of quotes in the paper today saying Goran has moved him

:12:10. > :12:14.ahead of Murray. Beautiful to watch such variety in

:12:15. > :12:19.his game. Now let's hear from Feliciano Lopez.

:12:20. > :12:25.I know how tough it is to get to the finals of such a great tournament

:12:26. > :12:28.like Queen's. I'm 35 years old, so I realise how difficult it is to get

:12:29. > :12:38.there. It is very emotional right now to me. Reaching the finals of

:12:39. > :12:45.Stuttgart last week, so it's everything that is happening for me

:12:46. > :12:51.right now, it's really amazing. I'm enjoying the moment so much. That's

:12:52. > :12:55.why I was pretty emotional. It's been a long way now. So many years

:12:56. > :13:01.playing tennis. Now I am so happy with everything that is happening. I

:13:02. > :13:06.try to enjoy this moment now because I know how difficult it is. And I'm

:13:07. > :13:13.healthy and still competitive, so I didn't expect it to be, I didn't

:13:14. > :13:17.expect to be in such good shape at my age, at 35 years old. So I feel

:13:18. > :13:21.very pleased. I have another chance to win this beautiful tournament.

:13:22. > :13:24.So, for me it is a gift already to be there.

:13:25. > :13:34.Between him and Roger Federer, I think 35 is the new 25. Talking of

:13:35. > :13:39.Federer. He took 53 minutes to beat Zverev. Both playing at their best.

:13:40. > :13:43.Each time he's played Cilic on the grass he's won the first set. You

:13:44. > :13:48.feel as though he will start well. When the body's tired you have to

:13:49. > :13:54.keep yourself motivated. That makes a lot of sense. I think Lopez has

:13:55. > :14:02.done such a great job of shutting out the people who say, well, you've

:14:03. > :14:06.been a pedestrian player or an also-ran for so many years and time

:14:07. > :14:13.to retire now. He's shut that out and that is why he's, first of all,

:14:14. > :14:18.able to be fit this long, but secondly, playing probably the best

:14:19. > :14:24.tennis of his life. It's, you know, credit to him that he's allowed

:14:25. > :14:30.himself to continue on at such a pace. And also he's just such a

:14:31. > :14:33.great competitor. He's proved that right through his career, but

:14:34. > :14:38.particularly the last couple of weeks. Two or three setters in

:14:39. > :14:42.Stuttgart, come from a break point down against Berdych earlier this

:14:43. > :14:46.week. It shows he's so competitive when the big points count. He

:14:47. > :14:50.certainly is. I thought his interview there, he was very humble

:14:51. > :14:55.about reaching the finals. At his age he doesn't know how much longer

:14:56. > :15:00.he's going to be in these type of events getting to the finals. If he

:15:01. > :15:05.is tired, which I am sure he is when he woke up this morning, he will go

:15:06. > :15:09.through the pain barrier. He doesn't know how much longer he'll be around

:15:10. > :15:17.at this level and it is a gift. I love his attitude.

:15:18. > :15:24.What is it going to do against Cilic, if Cilic is trying to rush?

:15:25. > :15:31.He needs to make a lot of first serveand if he can hold serve when a

:15:32. > :15:34.consistent basis, the pressure is off, he knows he will have a little

:15:35. > :15:40.time to work with it. If he is missing a lot of first serves, he

:15:41. > :15:44.will have to slice him out wide to try and approach as quickly as

:15:45. > :15:48.possible, perhaps on the Cilic backhand. You know, he has a lot of

:15:49. > :15:53.variety with his shots, but I'm not sure if he can actually ground

:15:54. > :15:59.stroke with Cilic over and it's dented period of time. You know, he

:16:00. > :16:03.has got to try to make the point is quick, I think. Just looking at

:16:04. > :16:07.those horrible dark cloud over the clubhouse, I hope we will not have a

:16:08. > :16:14.day like yesterday, the players scurrying on and off. We are all set

:16:15. > :16:18.for the final, Lopez won yesterday against Dimitrov, and in the final

:16:19. > :16:22.three years ago he had a match point and lost it against Cilic, four

:16:23. > :16:27.years ago a match point and lost it, maybe fate is in his favour. Cilic

:16:28. > :16:29.against Lopez, thank you, Peter, John Lloyd is on his way to join

:16:30. > :16:38.Andrew Castle. Don't you even mention those dark

:16:39. > :16:43.clouds, it says on my computer no chance of rain! It doesn't look like

:16:44. > :16:45.no chance, but we will see. The final of Queen's this year, Cilic

:16:46. > :17:59.versus Lopez. A good four, maybe five feet inside

:18:00. > :18:03.the baseline, relatively short reply from Lopez dispatched. The wind is

:18:04. > :18:07.left to right as you are looking, ten mph, swirly down at court

:18:08. > :18:26.surface. Slightly easier for the right-hander

:18:27. > :18:41.to serve from the far end on our main angle here. The Croatian camp,

:18:42. > :19:20.Jonas Bjorkman there in the black hat.

:19:21. > :19:28.That is a message right there. Retro-! Aide be serve a little bit

:19:29. > :19:32.short, this is what is going to happen - I am coming in. -- hit the

:19:33. > :20:05.serve a little bit short. Big kick-serve up to the Lopez

:20:06. > :20:10.forehand side, just one missed volley, the chip charge from Lopez,

:20:11. > :20:15.holds 230, both these players have just lost one service game, Cilic

:20:16. > :20:19.against Muller, Lopez against Dimitrov in the semifinals. If they

:20:20. > :20:26.had access to all the stats, and they do have access to the stats,

:20:27. > :20:35.Cilic first-served placement - first serve points won, he likes to go out

:20:36. > :20:41.wide a lot on the first serve. This is from Queen's, from this

:20:42. > :20:44.tournament, 96% of first serve points won out wide. These are the

:20:45. > :21:12.little things that coaches will notice. Small margins.

:21:13. > :21:25.Watching for how fluidly Feliciano Lopez moves today, four 3- set

:21:26. > :22:28.matches last week, two this week. That was a big serve, wasn't it? 137

:22:29. > :22:32.serve, that is adrenaline. Out wide. He can mix that in so easily with

:22:33. > :22:37.exactly the same ball toss, slide you down the middle on the deuce

:22:38. > :22:45.court, but on the ad it would take you into the crowd, so a big ask to

:22:46. > :22:48.break the Lopez serve. Parents flew in this morning.

:22:49. > :22:54.To watch Feliciano with this opportunity to win this prestigious

:22:55. > :24:28.title. He doesn't do that very often, serve

:24:29. > :24:39.and volley, but makes it up again. -- mix. Especially when you know

:24:40. > :24:42.that he is going to chip over it, you may get some high volleys to put

:24:43. > :25:15.away. Cilic 2-1, then, the 2012 champion

:25:16. > :25:21.here, but the biggest tournament he has ever won was the 2014 US Open,

:25:22. > :25:23.only four major championships a year, and that really does define a

:25:24. > :25:29.career. He beat Gilles Simon in the brutal

:25:30. > :25:33.fourth-round match, took ages, as a lot of Simon matches do, then

:25:34. > :25:37.Berdych, then Federer, then Nishikori in the final, who did not

:25:38. > :25:42.play his best tennis, but a genuine Grand Slam champion, and now working

:25:43. > :25:47.alongside Jonas Bjorkman, a former semifinalist at Wimbledon and the US

:25:48. > :25:51.Open in cell. Talking to him this morning about the opportunistic net

:25:52. > :25:59.rush as he wants to bring to the Cilic game, they are going to work

:26:00. > :26:02.together about 23 weeks a year, in Stockholm and in Zagreb. They want

:26:03. > :26:07.the ball toss in exactly the same place, not over the left-hand side

:26:08. > :26:11.very much, Bjorkman says, if you get it in the same place, a little bit

:26:12. > :26:16.further forward, you will be able to transition to the net quicker. He

:26:17. > :26:19.has looked the form walls. I thought Dimitrov would be favoured after the

:26:20. > :26:28.big names had gone out, but maybe I am wrong. -- he has looked the

:26:29. > :26:33.former horse. Dimitrov's backhand was exposed in the third set with

:26:34. > :26:37.Lopez, passing shots, errors when he was high up. Dimitrov just not

:26:38. > :26:40.dealing with that shot very well, it is something he will be working on

:26:41. > :27:04.in the next week before Wimbledon, that is for sure.

:27:05. > :27:29.It will be Feliciano Lopez Pons 16th Wimbledon.

:27:30. > :27:38.Oh, really?! I didn't think he had that shot! It looked straight over

:27:39. > :27:43.to his coach afterwards, is that OK, is that what we're doing?!

:27:44. > :28:26.Magnificent drop volley from that position.

:28:27. > :28:34.That is where he has done so well this week, anything at all sure that

:28:35. > :28:37.you can see he is already stepping into that one, take that ball on the

:28:38. > :29:05.rise, takes a few steps in. Long day ahead for Marin Cilic, he

:29:06. > :29:10.has got some doubles later on, he has got to finish a semifinal,

:29:11. > :29:13.playing with Matkowski, the Polish player, the first time they have

:29:14. > :29:20.played together against Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares, Murray and Soares

:29:21. > :29:27.are up in the final set, that could be heading to a tie-break.

:29:28. > :29:29.That is the semifinal, with Benneteau and Roger-Vasselin, the

:29:30. > :30:43.Wimbledon runners up, waiting in the final.

:30:44. > :30:54.Loves that serve. Slightly quicker action. Feels like

:30:55. > :30:58.he can repeat that motion all day long.

:30:59. > :31:15.Machine-like with that serve this week.

:31:16. > :31:23.Phenomenal service record. Both guys appear to have lost one service

:31:24. > :31:28.game. You can see why, just the first five games how dominant they

:31:29. > :31:33.are behind their serves. Even if you get the ball back, there's one point

:31:34. > :31:38.in the last Lopez serve that Cilic did so well. Got the ball back four

:31:39. > :31:42.feet to the baseline and Lopez smacked the forehand away. If you

:31:43. > :31:48.don't get the return back in the right place, it's done, anyway. The

:31:49. > :31:55.pace that these players have now, the back-up they have towards, when

:31:56. > :32:05.they have to back up their serve, the next shot and the first strike

:32:06. > :32:09.is so good. That's little Santiago sitting on

:32:10. > :32:12.his lap. That is his dad on the right-hand side. He owns a

:32:13. > :32:16.restaurant, all the players go, there it is in Kensington. They

:32:17. > :32:21.gather there, it is their informal clubhouse, if you like. Better not

:32:22. > :32:29.name it. Although I'm dying to. It is really good.

:32:30. > :32:33.They are playing a game. Probably just like Feliciano used to all

:32:34. > :32:44.those years ago. He's a bigger boy now though is our Feliciano!

:32:45. > :32:50.Just day in, day out, goes to work. Could easily have given away a

:32:51. > :32:52.couple of these matches this week after last week's efforts, but not a

:32:53. > :33:06.bit of it. See Cilic there getting up to that

:33:07. > :33:10.ball, trying to hold it as long as he could before hitting it into the

:33:11. > :33:15.side of the court he decides. He could have gone both ways, but he

:33:16. > :35:17.thought that he had Lopez, but Lopez just read this beautifully.

:35:18. > :35:24.9500 people here. One of the big changes at Queen's Club for this

:35:25. > :35:31.year's tournament, that the seating on the right-hand side, behind Cilic

:35:32. > :35:33.serving now. It's a huge stand to mirror the east stand, in fact even

:35:34. > :36:21.taller. Didn't bounce at all. Don't know

:36:22. > :36:26.whether that was because it hit the line because it had so much backspin

:36:27. > :36:32.on. Just hear the exertion that makes on

:36:33. > :37:13.these backhand slices. That one didn't come off at all.

:37:14. > :37:51.First time we see love 30 in this match.

:37:52. > :38:03.He helded that well. That was a very testing question. An examination of

:38:04. > :38:08.the backhand, wasn't it? It was. What a rally, both players here.

:38:09. > :38:12.Lopez trying to keep that ball deep, keeping it deep, finally gets the

:38:13. > :39:09.chance for a beautiful approach shot.

:39:10. > :39:17.Lovely adjustment with the hands, Lopez, to a difficult bounce. Just

:39:18. > :39:20.sort of shoved it to the forehand side and said, pass me if you can,

:39:21. > :39:30.and he couldn't. New tennis balls in the next game,

:39:31. > :39:37.Lopez wouldn't mind serving with those with a break of serve.

:39:38. > :39:43.Oh, now, hold on, there's a massive great mark, which we can actually

:39:44. > :39:47.see and I think he's taken a bit of the back end edge of the line,

:39:48. > :39:56.although it will be a challenge on Hawk-Eye. It's a perfect serve.

:39:57. > :40:01.That's what that is. That ball is going to be a white one

:40:02. > :40:03.now, not a yellow one any more. That's taken a couple of lines with

:40:04. > :41:07.it. So, if he challenges and he's right

:41:08. > :41:12.here, Lopez, that's fine. If he's not, it has to be a first serve,

:41:13. > :41:24.doesn't it? He's not right. First serve.

:41:25. > :42:06.Plenty of lines hit in that game. They've both come out and playing as

:42:07. > :42:12.they played all week. Just tidy, playing to the percentages. 0-30

:42:13. > :42:17.situation, producing great serves and producing great points. A tough

:42:18. > :42:24.match. This is what it is to be a professional.

:42:25. > :42:28.Just so sharp. 0-30 Lopez had, a fabulous approach shot. Cilic goes

:42:29. > :42:34.to hit that backhand pass, not much room to aim down-the-line. It was

:42:35. > :42:38.low and he hit it absolutely perfectly, otherwise he have been

:42:39. > :42:42.down 0-40. When you have confidence there's no hesitation on those

:42:43. > :42:48.shots. You think you'll make them. Through a loss of confidence those

:42:49. > :42:57.are the ones you hesitate on and you invariably miss.

:42:58. > :43:08.If you want to get in touch with us, please do. We will pick them up and

:43:09. > :43:17.observations if you are enjoying the tennis. If you're not, don't. So

:43:18. > :43:22.Wimbledon, just eight days ago. The chairman of the All-England Club

:43:23. > :43:28.and his wife, Jill, next door to him. A Yorkshire county player. He's

:43:29. > :43:32.got knees like yours, John, a bit. Are they hurting a bit? Poor chap! I

:43:33. > :43:44.wouldn't wish that on anybody! Another great Yorkshire sportsman in

:43:45. > :44:01.here today. You have to start off ten seconds

:44:02. > :44:35.before he hits the serve to yet that. Ridiculous. What an angle.

:44:36. > :44:59.Serious punch on these forehands from Lopez.

:45:00. > :45:07.Never quite in the top ten of the world, Feliciano Lopez. A high of

:45:08. > :45:10.number 12 a couple of years ago. Currently ranked at 32. On grass,

:45:11. > :45:24.top ten. They don't have different rankings

:45:25. > :45:26.for the different surfaces, but if they did, he would be better than

:45:27. > :45:53.32, for sure. Where was that angle from?! Short

:45:54. > :46:52.and off, off forehand up the court. He doesn't use that body serve very

:46:53. > :47:01.much, Cilic, but very effective there.

:47:02. > :47:19.Well, we have talked about how difficult it is to break serve,

:47:20. > :47:24.especially on a grass court, when players are in the form like this,

:47:25. > :47:29.but Lopez particularly, his serve has always been legendary. But just

:47:30. > :47:34.to sort of illustrate that, with the help of Hawk-Eye, down the left-hand

:47:35. > :47:40.side, the one down the middle coming in at 130 mph plus, the one out wide

:47:41. > :47:44.sliding, still 120 mph. Look at the distance that you have to cover when

:47:45. > :47:51.receiving another left-hand side, you have to rely on your instinct to

:47:52. > :47:56.go one way or the other, 6.8 metres. And this is impossible to do, like a

:47:57. > :47:59.well taken penalty, it is a good analogy, you cannot save it, so you

:48:00. > :48:03.have to wait for your opportunities and then take them if they present

:48:04. > :48:08.themselves. Unless you cheat one way or the other, but against Lopez that

:48:09. > :48:13.is difficult, because he is so accurate, he will pop its down the

:48:14. > :48:17.line you are not on. It is almost impossible, both players are so

:48:18. > :48:24.sharp in this match at the moment, but having said that, Lopez did have

:48:25. > :48:29.loved 30 on the Cilic serve, and only a brilliant passing shots saved

:48:30. > :48:37.him from love for deep. -- saved him from 0-40. They will both carry on

:48:38. > :48:46.thinking they can break, but it is so difficult.

:48:47. > :48:51.Need some dark glasses. Already got two wristbands from Lopez this week

:48:52. > :49:55.after wins. Oh yes, final length. And now 0-30

:49:56. > :50:01.opportunity the other way, against Lopez. He has had to defend two

:50:02. > :50:13.second serves in this game so far. And that is away, and now three

:50:14. > :50:50.break points, which are set points. And that is wide, he may or may not

:50:51. > :50:56.challenge, having a quick look, but he has lost his serve to love and

:50:57. > :51:00.the third set as well, Cilic is sticking around by his baseline, but

:51:01. > :51:07.I think it will be confirmed that Lopez hooked that one just wide,

:51:08. > :51:12.yeah, first set over in this Queen's Club final, 34 minutes, the first

:51:13. > :51:30.set to the Croatian. Peter, we see that so often, you

:51:31. > :51:37.have a chance on somebody else's serve, then it goes. It is a

:51:38. > :51:46.momentum thing, Lopez started so well, Cilic hit an amazing passing

:51:47. > :51:49.shot at 0-30, a couple of great serves to bail himself out of

:51:50. > :51:53.trouble. But then it switched, the Croatian taking the ball early,

:51:54. > :51:58.essentially just hitting winners, hitting winners constantly. That is

:51:59. > :52:06.one of the few unforced errors that Lopez has made in set. Poor game by

:52:07. > :52:10.Lopez standards. It probably was, and when the momentum shifts, it is

:52:11. > :52:16.a tough thing to come back. It just shows that the mental side of tennis

:52:17. > :52:20.is so important, it is frustrating for players, isn't it? It certainly

:52:21. > :52:25.is, and of course Lopez has played so many ebbing and flowing matches

:52:26. > :52:31.over his career that we have to assume that he will come out of the

:52:32. > :52:36.gates quickly again in set number two. Look at that, Cilic coming in

:52:37. > :52:44.more than Lopez, really trying to attack. Absolutely, and not so much

:52:45. > :52:49.the net points won, but the points that he has won on first shots after

:52:50. > :52:56.a serve or after a return, really aggressive right off the bad. And

:52:57. > :53:00.looking at unforced errors, Cilic playing so well, this has been the

:53:01. > :53:06.way right through the tournament, such high-quality tennis, not making

:53:07. > :53:10.that many errors. Absolutely right, hitting the ball hard, going for the

:53:11. > :53:14.lines, still making very few unforced errors, although his first

:53:15. > :53:22.serve percentage was only at 53. Other than that, it was about as

:53:23. > :53:27.good a set as Cilic can play. As you can see, he has left the court, but

:53:28. > :53:31.Lopez, he has just got to try and regroup, you have lost the first

:53:32. > :53:36.set, but you feel like you have been the better player. You have got to

:53:37. > :53:40.find a way to turn it around and not let any sort of mishap happened

:53:41. > :53:46.early in the second set. Absolutely right, and you have to remember that

:53:47. > :53:53.he wants to push it out of his mind, body has to be fatigued, both and

:53:54. > :53:58.mentally. He is up against it now. Interesting, we were talking about

:53:59. > :54:05.the odds for Wimbledon, who is going to win, Federer, Nadal, they are

:54:06. > :54:08.split between who they think is the favourite, because a lot of people

:54:09. > :54:15.think Rafael Nadal is playing the best tennis, but they may change

:54:16. > :54:19.their minds when they see the results from Halle, he has swept

:54:20. > :54:26.aside Alexander Zverev in 53 minutes, one of the up and coming

:54:27. > :54:30.players, 6-1, 6-3. That is pretty impressive, Peter, isn't it? It is,

:54:31. > :54:36.spirit is dependent on his first serve, and Federer is so great at

:54:37. > :54:46.putting them back into play. Grassick is not yet Zverev's best

:54:47. > :54:50.surface, but it shows what an incredible talent he is after not

:54:51. > :54:56.playing for three four months. This man is playing the best grass court

:54:57. > :55:00.tennis he has ever played, the last few years he has been in the

:55:01. > :55:04.quarterfinals at Wimbledon. If he doesn't let this whole thing go to

:55:05. > :55:08.his head, he is in with a shout, he has got to be in with the first

:55:09. > :55:19.handful of favourites. We are ready for the second set, let's rejoin

:55:20. > :55:23.John and Andy. ANDREW CASTLE: Thank you for getting in touch using

:55:24. > :55:28.#bbctennis, someone saying it is like two fencers at work, lunch and

:55:29. > :55:33.thrust! Look at that, super Sunday outfit! Cilic bounces the ball even

:55:34. > :55:40.more times than Djokovic, I have noticed that. He does it quicker

:55:41. > :55:44.between points, quite a lot of urgency between points, and he

:55:45. > :55:49.doesn't go over the time. Daniel says, good to see different people

:55:50. > :55:53.in the final four change. In any other period, Cilic would probably

:55:54. > :55:59.have won more than one slam, probably right. Murray probably

:56:00. > :56:03.would have won more than three. Thank you for all of that, and onto

:56:04. > :56:07.the second set we go. Remember, Cilic likes to go out wide with his

:56:08. > :56:30.first ball, let's see if he does this time. Change-up.

:56:31. > :57:32.REFEREE: Mr Lopez is challenging the call.

:57:33. > :57:40.The call stands. Lopez keeps holding one of these shots will be out, but

:57:41. > :57:48.unfortunately for him, Cilic is finding those pesky white things.

:57:49. > :58:06.That is what the lines are put on the court for, to hit them.

:58:07. > :58:13.It was always said that if Bjorn Borg here today lying, he would

:58:14. > :58:21.consider it a mistake, because he would hit so far inside the line. If

:58:22. > :58:34.he actually went all the way to the line!

:58:35. > :58:40.Well, it was a weak notable for the big names losing pretty ill,

:58:41. > :58:45.Jo-Wilfried Tsonga lost in the second round against Muller, Stan

:58:46. > :58:53.Wawrinka, the French Open finalist, lost to Feliciano Lopez in the first

:58:54. > :59:01.round, 7-6, 7-5. Raonic lost against Kokkinakis, Murray lost to the

:59:02. > :59:14.Australian lucky loser, Jordan Thompson, 7-6, 6-2, on day two.

:59:15. > :00:10.Cilic feels like this is his time right now. He does.

:00:11. > :00:18.Change his tactic and serve-volleying, done it both times.

:00:19. > :00:20.Has to use it as a surprise tactic. If he does it too often Cilic just

:00:21. > :00:34.picks it. Well I don't think he has to, if he

:00:35. > :00:39.really looks at things, his tactics have been very good, Lopez. He just

:00:40. > :00:41.played one sloppy game. It wasn't because he needed to do Something

:00:42. > :00:58.Special to hold on to his serve. Almost a sign of a, a slight sign of

:00:59. > :01:05.panic, I've got to try something different. He played one game with

:01:06. > :01:09.his serve went off. Other than that he was pretty immaculate. I don't

:01:10. > :01:53.know why he's charging in all the time now.

:01:54. > :02:00.It is interesting there, he had a couple of chances. I think he was

:02:01. > :02:04.shellshocked after the passing shots that Cilic's been throwing at him.

:02:05. > :02:08.Normally Lopez would have been in on two of those backhands and chipped

:02:09. > :02:25.the ball and then moved backwards again.

:02:26. > :03:00.There was a chance. Off a 133 miles per hour serve.

:03:01. > :03:07.Flown all the way over from Spain this morning, just to see you lose,

:03:08. > :03:18.sonny boy. You keep holding in front of mum and dad.

:03:19. > :03:26.Wow! He's still in it. The crowd have really taken to him this week.

:03:27. > :03:39.They love him, anyway. He is just one point away against

:03:40. > :03:41.Dimitrov, a match point in the final here, back in 2014. One point away

:03:42. > :03:52.from winning. Justine margins on a grass court. So

:03:53. > :03:55.different from the preceding months on clay.

:03:56. > :04:01.Totally different. This transition to grass is difficult to make. These

:04:02. > :05:50.two have certainly made that. So, what will the players do ahead

:05:51. > :05:55.of Wimbledon for practise? Practise and working on technical parts of

:05:56. > :06:00.the game, not always necessary, is it? Keeping the engine going -

:06:01. > :06:05.fine-tuning. He's not playing Eastbourne now, is he? It depends

:06:06. > :06:11.who you are. Someone like Dimitrov will definitely spend some time

:06:12. > :06:16.working on his backhand, as an example. Of if you look at Lopez,

:06:17. > :06:21.whether he wins or loses this final, there's nothing wrong with his game,

:06:22. > :06:25.at all. And the same with Cilic. I think in Lopez's case and Cilic,

:06:26. > :06:30.they will definitely take a couple of days off, just to get the mind,

:06:31. > :06:36.just the exertion it puts on you mentally. Thaft they'll start to do

:06:37. > :06:41.some -- after that they'll start to do some drills. Start to ease off a

:06:42. > :06:46.bit. Do a couple of hard days. Certainly by Friday, maybe Saturday,

:06:47. > :06:49.then you would start to taper down, getting ready to play five sets, if

:06:50. > :06:54.necessary, on Monday and not overplay. It is all a question of

:06:55. > :06:59.timing. It's such a science these days, they know exactly how many

:07:00. > :07:04.calories to eat and this and that. And where their bodies should be and

:07:05. > :07:11.what sort of, you know, condition they should be at what stage. So

:07:12. > :07:17.they know all this. In our days it was eat French fries before you

:07:18. > :07:25.play, touch my toes or close to it. And if hungry, eat. Doesn't matter

:07:26. > :07:31.what it is! Really look at Lopez, what does he

:07:32. > :07:49.have to work on or change? They're ready to go.

:07:50. > :08:00.The qualifying starts. It's on the red button. Have a look at that.

:08:01. > :08:24.Join us. Tomorrow.

:08:25. > :08:29.Tsm this was the shot here, just nudged that one back with his

:08:30. > :08:32.backing. Got himself back into the middle of the court and takes over

:08:33. > :08:48.with the big forehand. That was nicely taken. Stops the

:08:49. > :08:51.ball from going into the bar. A bit of team work getting it back on the

:08:52. > :09:11.court. Smart work on the boundary there.

:09:12. > :09:21.Just holds his pose at the end of an ace.

:09:22. > :09:30.Carries himself around the court. Definitely slows down when he's won

:09:31. > :09:33.a point. The adoring gaze of the tennis fans

:09:34. > :09:49.on him. When you get this break... That's a

:09:50. > :09:51.start. A return like that, anything's

:09:52. > :09:58.possible. Still manages to hit that sort of

:09:59. > :10:09.return. Puffing his chest out. 0-15 is half

:10:10. > :10:51.a chance with these serves. Rolled that backhand very nicely.

:10:52. > :11:42.Not a great strength of Lopez's. With a target, he can hit it.

:11:43. > :11:48.Just a little bit conservative there, Lopez, on a couple of

:11:49. > :11:54.forehands early on in that rally. It is like he was thinking, I don't

:11:55. > :11:57.want to miss this, instead of going for the big shot, getting himself

:11:58. > :12:57.into a position where he could attack the net.

:12:58. > :13:08.Low ball. Lopez will challenge. Didn't see the Lopez challenge

:13:09. > :13:13.straightaway, but he did hold his hand up.

:13:14. > :13:20.Worth a look. Once again Cilic fighting back from

:13:21. > :13:46.a 0-30 situation. That was an important passage of

:13:47. > :13:52.play. 3-2 up. Every time he's had to win a

:13:53. > :13:57.sequence of points this tournament, he has, hasn't he, Cilic. It's the

:13:58. > :14:01.positive that's been given. His coach was one of the most positive

:14:02. > :14:05.players out there. To get to number four in the world, playing like he

:14:06. > :14:09.did was remarkable and he did it with great will power. Amazing

:14:10. > :14:19.hand-eye co-ordination. Great returns and volleys. He was a

:14:20. > :14:25.fabulous player. A fabulous singles play as well as doubles. One of the

:14:26. > :14:30.last to be top in the fields. I notice Cilic is playing doubles

:14:31. > :14:35.after this with Matkowski. A A lot of other players would,

:14:36. > :14:39.maybe after playing a round and still in the doubles have given it a

:14:40. > :14:43.gentle, don't really mind too much if I don't win this match, but not

:14:44. > :14:50.Cilic. He wants to win this one as well, the doubles. He was out there

:14:51. > :14:53.late when Lopez was as well, Lopez-Dimitrov, finished late due to

:14:54. > :15:00.some rain. Cilic was playing doubles at the same time. Could easily have

:15:01. > :15:05.given it away. Philippoussis won the doubles and

:15:06. > :15:17.singles here last time in 2007. The last time anybody did the double.

:15:18. > :15:22.The venerable old clubhouse, a multisports complex, Queen's Club,

:15:23. > :15:35.the first such club in the world, really, international football went

:15:36. > :15:39.to Wembley, rugby to Twickenham, the running to White City. They used to

:15:40. > :15:58.be a cinder track around the outside of Queen's Club.

:15:59. > :17:09.Five straight points now for Cilic, he has got the momentum here.

:17:10. > :17:26.Just wide! Superb. This is something that Cilic wouldn't have done, sneak

:17:27. > :17:31.in the way he did here. He would not have done that a year two ago, I

:17:32. > :17:39.don't think. That is an instinct, he knew exactly when the time was to

:17:40. > :18:06.make the charge into the net. Improved in that category.

:18:07. > :18:23.APPLAUSE UMPIRE: New balls, please.

:18:24. > :18:27.Tough hold. This week was notable for so big names going out early, I

:18:28. > :18:37.don't think the tennis other too much, we saw the arrival of Daniil

:18:38. > :18:40.Medvedev, and a Canadian left-hander, keep an eye on him when

:18:41. > :18:46.the draw comes out, wonderful tennis player. Also noticeable for some bad

:18:47. > :18:50.news this week with confirmation through a press conference that Dan

:18:51. > :18:55.Evans, the British number three, world number 50, the 27-year-old,

:18:56. > :19:01.tested positive for cocaine in April in Barcelona, so he awaits his fate.

:19:02. > :19:06.That could well be the end of his career. Certainly, there will be a

:19:07. > :19:08.ban announced later this year, just bringing you up to speed with that

:19:09. > :19:57.news. Remember when Djokovic had the yips

:19:58. > :20:03.on his serve? He would sometimes bounce it for 40 times, he got

:20:04. > :20:09.stuck, couldn't release it! Could be there until the beginning of next

:20:10. > :20:16.year's tournament! Ireland when Sergio Garcia, in golf, was

:20:17. > :20:19.re-gripping, couldn't get the club back to hit the thing. -- I remember

:20:20. > :21:02.when. Women's tennis on the BBC One from

:21:03. > :21:06.Eastbourne next week, we have got the red button qualifying event

:21:07. > :21:13.going on for the Championships which start on Monday week.

:21:14. > :21:17.Picking a winner in the women's championship is a little bit harder

:21:18. > :21:21.than it has been in the past, Serena Williams absent this year, expecting

:21:22. > :21:26.her first child, wishing her well. Petra Kvitova coming back, twice a

:21:27. > :21:30.champion, fantastic views, fending off a burglar at home over the

:21:31. > :21:36.Christmas and New Year period, she injured herself and needed surgery.

:21:37. > :21:43.She is back and OK. Not an easy thing to recover from. No, the

:21:44. > :21:47.trauma there, often the actual wound, someone coming into a place

:21:48. > :21:52.like that, having to defend yourself, unbelievable. I thought,

:21:53. > :21:55.from a tennis point, she wouldn't have enough tennis to make a serious

:21:56. > :22:00.challenge at Wimbledon, but playing so well this week, being in a final,

:22:01. > :22:06.that has changed, you would have to put her in the mix for Wimbledon in

:22:07. > :22:08.a week's time. About 15 women could make it this year, it is going to be

:22:09. > :22:27.fascinating. These Speaker of the House of

:22:28. > :22:33.Commons, John Bercow, he was a good player, number one seed in the under

:22:34. > :23:19.12 nationals in 1975! At Devonshire Park.

:23:20. > :24:22.Oh! What a serve.

:24:23. > :24:44.Robert George has been on Twitter, he says, does anyone else think

:24:45. > :24:46.Lopez looks like Bradley Cooper? Michael Bolton was always the

:24:47. > :24:52.similarity in the old days. Enjoying this final, deep in the

:24:53. > :27:00.second set 4-4. He loves to have a chat to his

:27:01. > :27:06.player's box, Feliciano Lopez, you could never accuse anybody of unfair

:27:07. > :27:22.coaching - he is the one doing the talking!

:27:23. > :27:30.Oh, I thought he had made that, a change of tactics are coming onto

:27:31. > :27:31.the forehand. He has certainly stayed away from that shot when it

:27:32. > :28:16.has come into the net. So Marin Cilic is one game away from

:28:17. > :28:20.winning this tournament again, as he did in 2012 in quite controversial

:28:21. > :28:25.circumstances, against David Nalbandian, you will remember.

:28:26. > :28:30.We might still have a decider. Let me show you what we have got coming

:28:31. > :28:37.up, marking your card for the tennis from Roehampton, we will be there

:28:38. > :28:43.with Mary Pierce, actually, from 11am, John. Thanks foretelling the!

:28:44. > :28:53.Red button on that. Eastbourne, down on the south coast. That coverage

:28:54. > :29:01.starts from two o'clock on BBC Two, so three hours of us, and then BBC

:29:02. > :29:04.Two. Now this will be fantastic, Sue Barker has been swanning around the

:29:05. > :29:09.world talking to some of the finest tennis players ever, I think she has

:29:10. > :29:16.enjoyed it, and we will enjoy that next Sunday, the day before

:29:17. > :29:24.Wimbledon on BBC One. And then some tennis tournament! Monday week, the

:29:25. > :29:28.Championships at Wimbledon, BBC TV, BBC Radio, online. We are going to

:29:29. > :29:42.have 13 great days of tennis. Andy Murray opening the programme on

:29:43. > :30:42.Centre Court, 1pm, the first day. UMPIRE: Thank you. Play.

:30:43. > :30:50.Loved the way he hit that backhand from the baseline. The forehand that

:30:51. > :30:52.came out of it at such a ferocious speed. Low on the knees, lobbed it

:30:53. > :31:20.back. No backswing. Well done, well done, Lopez. A long

:31:21. > :31:27.week. Excellent transtracing. And you're right, it 's like a

:31:28. > :31:31.batsman taking full delivery, wasn't it, that return. Holding the pose,

:31:32. > :32:02.relying on technique. Beautifully done.

:32:03. > :33:20.Could have got that as well. . He knew that as well. As soon as it

:33:21. > :33:24.went past him, I think he knew that would drop inside the line.

:33:25. > :33:29.Take that... No it's going out. Where did that line come from? I

:33:30. > :34:06.swear it was further to the left. No chance of any rain today, said

:34:07. > :34:11.the forecast. The clouds remaining high. They look a little bitumen

:34:12. > :34:19.facing, but no rain expected here today.

:34:20. > :34:24.Hello, that R 2D 2 thing. You are not supposed to point. It is

:34:25. > :34:34.wandering along its track, picking up all the photographers. I didn't

:34:35. > :34:39.see them in that particular section. Such valiant work with Marin Cilic.

:34:40. > :34:43.Can really see the effect that has been had, knowing the way he played.

:34:44. > :35:01.Working together since last August. All the players in town and settled

:35:02. > :35:12.in flats and houses around Wimbledon and nearby.

:35:13. > :35:38.CHEERING AND APPLAUSE That is just inside Feliciano is feeling a little

:35:39. > :35:41.bit tired. What a pick-me-up that was! What a lovely is exception for

:35:42. > :35:56.him. -- a lovely reception for him! The crowd know what Lopez has been

:35:57. > :35:58.through. It is part of the story, how much tennis he's played, 35

:35:59. > :37:44.years of age, bound to be hurting. It was a good effort recover from

:37:45. > :37:45.that far out wide. He keeps going over, eventually hitting the track

:37:46. > :38:12.and the tram line. A great effort. The crowds love tie-breaks. The

:38:13. > :38:39.first of seven, of course. Has not played a tie-break all week.

:38:40. > :39:20.Lopez certainly has. Lopez, 80% on his first serve in

:39:21. > :39:44.this set. 80%. Very close, this one.

:39:45. > :40:13.Definitely worth a challenge. That little outpour from the crowd,

:40:14. > :40:38.when he came out to serve 5-6. 4-1 w a couple of breaks, is a big

:40:39. > :42:22.lead. There's only one man in this

:42:23. > :42:44.breaker. People do like to these shoot out

:42:45. > :42:50.exchanges, don't they? Keep an eye out at the end of the year, where

:42:51. > :42:54.they play tie-breaks with 3-3. There are tie-break tens which work well

:42:55. > :42:55.as well. People like to see the end of sets, when it really comes down

:42:56. > :44:43.to it. Lopez, 5-1. And it is away.

:44:44. > :44:48.Lopez is refusing to lose again. Tremendous. I'm glad we have a

:44:49. > :44:52.decider. No disrespect to Marin Cilic, but it

:44:53. > :44:58.feels right that the tournament comes down to a single set somehow.

:44:59. > :45:06.He looks like he could get on a drip there, John.

:45:07. > :45:19.80% first service Pau Lopez. He is barely getting his racket on those

:45:20. > :45:29.serves. Wonderful start to the tie-breaker. It all started when he

:45:30. > :45:36.arrived after playing three, four set matches last week in Stuttgart.

:45:37. > :45:50.Last in the final to Pui. Cilic not exactly serving badly. No

:45:51. > :46:01.double faults from either player so far. Look at Lopez, twice as many

:46:02. > :46:08.unforced errors and Cilic had double the winners, but he still lost the

:46:09. > :46:15.set. Cilic, watching him, it is almost like he knows OK, I am

:46:16. > :46:19.playing great. He just served out of his mind, you will still think he

:46:20. > :46:26.can break in this set. He is not unduly worried. This guy keeps

:46:27. > :46:38.coming at you all the time and refuses to go away. Draped in the

:46:39. > :46:44.Spanish flag. This man here has been on four winning Davis Cup teams for

:46:45. > :46:49.Spain. As a 17-year-old was in a Davis Cup final. 25,000 people

:46:50. > :47:00.watching. Bearing in mind, this enormous structure here, 9500. The

:47:01. > :47:05.Americans were the visitors. Succumbed after a good fight.

:47:06. > :48:28.Experience both ends of the court. Enjoyed the decider.

:48:29. > :48:41.So good. Change of pace, couple of slices and then comes over the

:48:42. > :48:48.backhand with a lot of pace. Attacks beforehand. A lot of variation in

:48:49. > :49:03.his game. Joy to watch on this surface. What a passing shot.

:49:04. > :49:09.Unbelievable. Look how far wide he was. Ben that round the outside of

:49:10. > :49:19.the ball and curled it in. This is why people don't volley any more. So

:49:20. > :49:47.much more accurate, helped by the strings and the racket, of course.

:49:48. > :50:02.Unbelievable. It is going his way. It really is. Hit the slice, hit the

:50:03. > :50:20.line and doesn't bounce. Cilic is going really? Dominating the rally.

:50:21. > :50:33.Has he made a Challenger, Lopez? He has been wrong a lot. He had a bad

:50:34. > :50:36.run going in the second set. That is one thing he can work on in his

:50:37. > :51:27.game, challenges. Did you see that? The ball went up

:51:28. > :51:34.in the air. Jonas Bjorkman could have caught that, but he left it to

:51:35. > :51:39.let the man next to him catch it. And he missed it. He used to have

:51:40. > :51:48.the celebration at the end where he would grab his toe, it was a real

:51:49. > :51:52.hamstring structure. I thought he had cramp when he did that first

:51:53. > :51:58.time. Then I realise no, he's just flexible. The planting at Queen's

:51:59. > :52:12.Club has been lovely. It has been noted. Wait until you see Wimbledon.

:52:13. > :52:15.It is gorgeous. Donor who does it here, but Martin Faulkner does the

:52:16. > :52:37.planting at Wimbledon. -- don't know.

:52:38. > :52:47.The way he hit that valley, Cilic. There was no messing around with

:52:48. > :52:52.this. Not that easy, the way he punched that one out. Didn't get it

:52:53. > :52:54.as wide as he would like necessary but has a really good technique on

:52:55. > :55:08.that forehand volley. 28 outdoor courts here. 12 grass

:55:09. > :55:14.courts, ten indoor. Largely being used for hospitality. Couple of real

:55:15. > :55:22.tennis courts as well, free squash courts. All eyes on this 9500 seat

:55:23. > :56:26.stadium. New tennis balls Pau Lopez. UMPIRE: Mr Cilic is challenging the

:56:27. > :57:29.call. The ball was called in. The call stands. 30-15.

:57:30. > :57:42.He will be annoyed there. What is he complaining about? Was and he put

:57:43. > :57:48.off from the ball girl, perhaps still moving at the net. Not much

:57:49. > :57:57.you can do, they have done a good job. Certainly heightened senses

:57:58. > :58:07.from both players as this contest, which is a crescendo. -- reaches a

:58:08. > :58:13.crescendo. SUE BARKER: we can update you with

:58:14. > :58:22.scores from elsewhere. Great for Petra Kvitova, she came from behind

:58:23. > :58:27.to beat Ashley Darty 46 macro, 6-3, 6-2. It is her first since her

:58:28. > :58:32.comeback. She has asked for a wildcard into Eastbourne, which is

:58:33. > :58:43.great news for the tournament. In the opening round, Heather Watson

:58:44. > :58:55.has had a very good win. She has battled a 3-set match. Now back to

:58:56. > :59:07.this match. COMMENTATOR: Grey news for Petra Kvitova. Dreadful incident

:59:08. > :59:17.that was for her. Here is another leftie, knows his way around the

:59:18. > :59:21.grass court. Feliciano Lopez. So many great champions over the years

:59:22. > :59:29.here, including Marin Cilic, champion in 2012, run up to Andy

:59:30. > :59:43.Murray in 2013. He was unable to go beyond the third -- first-round. He

:59:44. > :59:51.treated a picture with his gold medal from the Olympics. I don't

:59:52. > :59:55.think it will affect Andy Murray's preparation for Wimbledon. He would

:59:56. > :00:01.have liked some matches, but it wasn't to be. He has done enough

:00:02. > :00:58.winning to know how to get the job done.

:00:59. > :01:11.So quick up to this ball. Right on it to, his right foot. Took that

:01:12. > :02:19.early. UMPIRE: Game Cilic.

:02:20. > :04:17.APPLAUSE Cilic made it himself there, because

:04:18. > :04:22.when he gets a second serve for a chance to return, it's such a bonus

:04:23. > :04:28.thapd one was not. The second serve, just dragged that

:04:29. > :04:36.backhand from the net. May be better on this one.

:04:37. > :04:50.Two in a row. Both of them on his backhand.

:04:51. > :04:52.It is only an advantage if you hold. He's 3-2 up.

:04:53. > :04:58.??FORCEWHITE STUDIO: And you know Peter, you'll

:04:59. > :05:03.only get the odd chance now and again, and you have to take it.

:05:04. > :05:08.Exactly right. Cilic has faced one break point. Saved it in the first

:05:09. > :05:12.set. Because he's been so dominant on serve throughout this match that

:05:13. > :05:19.that must take its toil on Lopez a little bit as the match wears on.

:05:20. > :05:25.Yet Lopez in set number two served 80% first serves in F even though he

:05:26. > :05:28.missed a few first serves in this set has still held serve and held

:05:29. > :05:33.serve in the way he's played all week and the last two weeks. Can you

:05:34. > :05:37.bet against him? And we talked about him at the start of the show,

:05:38. > :05:42.talking about how competitive he is in big situations. Towards the end

:05:43. > :05:46.of that second set he raised his level right through that tie-break.

:05:47. > :05:50.He really did. So there is no favourite in this match. It will

:05:51. > :05:56.come down to nerve. Who manages to hold his nerve better and who

:05:57. > :05:59.manages to come up with a terrific shot in the right moment? Because

:06:00. > :06:03.neither one of them will give it away. It is lovely to watch the

:06:04. > :06:09.style of play. The big hitting of Cilic. But Lopez in that last game,

:06:10. > :06:14.that lovely volley that he took the pace off, just let it slide away. It

:06:15. > :06:19.is lovely to watch. It is. Lopez is so consistent off the ground that it

:06:20. > :06:22.is incredible he can stay with Cilic for so long in each round. OK, thank

:06:23. > :06:28.you, Peter. Nobody had a better view of that

:06:29. > :07:42.ball than Marin Cilic. Just been such a feature today from

:07:43. > :07:52.both players when they, not they've been 0-15 down that many times, when

:07:53. > :09:26.they hit a serve on the line or just close to it.

:09:27. > :09:36.Pretty intense decider. Tournaments have known many guises. It started

:09:37. > :09:41.as the London court championships. It has known great winners,

:09:42. > :09:50.competitors and great memories. It has been built up up by great

:09:51. > :09:55.tournament directors. Stephen Farrow at the moment.

:09:56. > :09:59.One of those former is Ian White, who sadly passed away just last

:10:00. > :10:01.month. His wife and daughters are here as guests of the tournament

:10:02. > :12:16.today. Lopez hit that ball so flat and so

:12:17. > :12:22.hard. It just flipped up off the net Yes, sorry about that. Would like

:12:23. > :12:37.another ten more of those. Wouldn't fancy 30-30.

:12:38. > :12:52.Now they're going for Lopez. Cilic with mounting frustration

:12:53. > :12:55.here. If it does come down to neither

:12:56. > :13:02.player giving it away and I hope that is the case, I think it has to

:13:03. > :13:07.be said that the green has been with Lopez. It has been like that all

:13:08. > :13:13.week. Remember the point he played against Berdych. Berdych hit an

:13:14. > :13:16.unbeliefable return. Somehow he found an angle on his backhand which

:13:17. > :13:23.went for a clean winner. Sometimes it feels like destiny. It is the

:13:24. > :13:28.first time the Cilic reaction we've had... He's been very patient, the

:13:29. > :13:32.little one. The first time Cilic looked at his box there and just

:13:33. > :13:39.frustration. He's been so in the moment and I think in his mind he

:13:40. > :13:45.would find a way to break serve and he's got closer, but he can't seem

:13:46. > :13:53.to find a way and then the net cord and it just, he just slightly got

:13:54. > :13:57.frustrated there at the end oh game. -- at the end of this game. He's got

:13:58. > :14:04.to put it out of his mind because now we're getting to the business

:14:05. > :14:13.end of this match and the set. One sloppy game and goodbye! He's a very

:14:14. > :14:18.gentle fellow, but he's got a very menacing look sometimes. He's got

:14:19. > :14:21.the hypester beard going. He's been playing with great intent. Must

:14:22. > :14:57.concentrate now. There you go!

:14:58. > :15:28.Surprise tactic. Is he vulnerable, this game?

:15:29. > :17:42.He drove that slice. Really hit it. Yes he did. See the way the ball

:17:43. > :17:44.checked. Goes to hit this one, dropped about a foot lower than it

:17:45. > :18:27.would have normally. Gold star for Marin Cilic. Thomas

:18:28. > :18:34.Bjorn menu he was under pressure there, his man. Keeping his

:18:35. > :20:22.composure nicely, Marin Cilic. Ace number 16 for Lopez. Game full

:20:23. > :20:24.of aces, Cilic, 15. Three straight. Lopez at five bash for, just four

:20:25. > :20:35.points away. The importance of the first point in

:20:36. > :20:40.the game. Cilic catching the top of the net on the backhand and showing

:20:41. > :20:49.that frustration. You might think it is only one point, but it set the

:20:50. > :21:05.base for a game. On graphs, -- grass, the game can go so quickly.

:21:06. > :21:09.Rather furrowed brow the moment. This is sharpening the sensors ahead

:21:10. > :21:17.of Wimbledon and everything beyond. Certainly is, tough match. Great

:21:18. > :21:32.champions here over the years of course. Only 15-time champion, Andy

:21:33. > :21:38.Murray. -- one, five-time champion. You can see the flags, those dark

:21:39. > :21:49.clouds are going the other way, which is good news.

:21:50. > :21:58.Lopez, who has had a match point to win this championship in the past

:21:59. > :22:07.against Dimitrov, three years ago. Is closing in on success here. The

:22:08. > :22:41.crowd are pretty plugged into the Spaniard.

:22:42. > :22:50.What is served. Second serve. Again, it caught the line, digs in and the

:22:51. > :24:30.spin reacts. Second serve ace. That second surveys on the first

:24:31. > :24:33.point, again absolutely critical. It is a love hold. How did it happen?

:24:34. > :25:39.By playing a gutsy first point. What a strike from that position on

:25:40. > :25:43.the court. No hesitation on the shot. Very good return of serve.

:25:44. > :26:19.Look how far he is outside the tramline.

:26:20. > :26:29.There is a bag just hovering in the air. Plastic shopping bag, just

:26:30. > :26:32.hovering. It's not changing altitude at all. It is just levitating above

:26:33. > :28:05.the court. There we go. Whatever happens, that will be the

:28:06. > :28:10.last regular service game for Feliciano Lopez this tournament. It

:28:11. > :28:14.has been a magnificent serving display. Has only lost his serve

:28:15. > :28:18.twice in the whole tournament. Brilliant effort. We do have

:28:19. > :28:25.tie-breaks in deciding sets, would you be a fan of that, John? Yes, in

:28:26. > :28:33.the men's game, otherwise, it is fun to watch or you could have more John

:28:34. > :28:40.Isner and Nicolas Mahut matches if he didn't have a tie-break. Plus,

:28:41. > :28:45.also the crowd loved tie-breaks. You have to think of the entertainment

:28:46. > :28:52.value, it is not just what the player wants, it is about the crowd

:28:53. > :28:59.as well. One bad shot, or one great winner wins the whole thing. Cilic

:29:00. > :29:11.hasn't lost his serve here, but could still lose the match. Easily.

:29:12. > :29:18.Taking a little bit of carbohydrate on board. One more service game and,

:29:19. > :29:27.well I say hopefully we would have a tie-break. It would seem right. The

:29:28. > :29:33.players will get a good hand as they come out for this final game. New

:29:34. > :29:45.tennis ball for Marin Cilic to serve with. Doesn't always feel so

:29:46. > :29:48.comfortable. It favours the server, generally speaking. But if they

:29:49. > :30:04.return gets hold of the couple, it can shoot off the surface.

:30:05. > :30:10.Certainly reacts off the surface. See that slice. It would have gone

:30:11. > :30:14.through the court more than the other balls and takes the ball

:30:15. > :30:39.further into the swing of Cilic. He caught it late. It goes in the net.

:30:40. > :30:48.Both players have done this so well. They have reacted to danger. 0-15,

:30:49. > :30:50.we have seen it with them. It is unlikely they serve an ace or an

:30:51. > :31:10.unreturnable. It is quite amazing. Hit that forehand to the wrong place

:31:11. > :31:15.there, Cilic. Had to react very well to cut that volley off.

:31:16. > :31:20.Looked like he was going to go out to the back and went straight to the

:31:21. > :31:24.Lopez forehand. That was one heck of a volley to hit, at this stage of

:31:25. > :31:29.the match, in particular. Look at that beautiful technique.

:31:30. > :31:33.Stayed low. A nice feel. Head close to the ball.

:31:34. > :31:49.What a game he's played from 0-15. Ten aces in this set alone.

:31:50. > :31:57.A breaker is at hand, it would seem. Two game points to take us there.

:31:58. > :32:04.There you go. 20 aces for the match. A great display of serving from both

:32:05. > :32:09.players in regular play. It comes down to this tie-break. And Cilic

:32:10. > :32:11.will want to start quicker than he did in set two. So the tournament

:32:12. > :32:38.rests on this. The wind has picked up in the last

:32:39. > :32:59.15-20 minutes. Hear it from the flags and the supports.

:33:00. > :33:13.That's the reply. Completely wrong-footing. Cilic moving to the

:33:14. > :33:49.backhand side there, expecting more of the percentage play from Lopez.

:33:50. > :34:43.Cilic does start better than the second tie-break.

:34:44. > :34:57.Hit it long. He did well to move his feet to adjust to a low ball from

:34:58. > :35:02.him earlier on. That is a miss. That is, you can call it an unforced

:35:03. > :35:03.error, but not really with the whole tournament on the line. Should have

:35:04. > :36:04.made it. Again a strong reaction after that

:36:05. > :36:11.missed forehand. Two straight service holds. Pressure

:36:12. > :36:49.reverts to Cilic. 2-3. Oh, that's superb. That's just

:36:50. > :37:03.fantastic play from Cilic. Second set tie-break. When they

:37:04. > :37:06.changed it was all over, it was 5-1 to Lopez. This is a totally

:37:07. > :37:16.different affair. Played at Queen's Club before. Cilic

:37:17. > :38:12.has won both of those in three sets. I was going to say, that was the

:38:13. > :38:27.longest I've ever seen. Still hasn't served it.

:38:28. > :38:38.Bravo! The wind was gusting down on the court. It was gusting. He was

:38:39. > :38:45.waiting for it to fall, wasn't he? I can only assume. It kept going on

:38:46. > :38:48.and on and on. But didn't he do well to maintain his composure after a

:38:49. > :38:54.time warning there. We don't like the umpire to do that at the end of

:38:55. > :39:01.the tie-break. But he had no choice, it went on for so long. What a

:39:02. > :39:08.backhand pass, though. It is very gusty down there. Hold on... Still

:39:09. > :39:19.get a code violation. He's going to get one if he's not careful, too.

:39:20. > :39:26.Cilic is looking at him. It doesn't matter if it's windy. Doesn't

:39:27. > :39:43.matter. You've got the time and that's the end of that - 25 seconds.

:39:44. > :40:09.It is better do that if you want to buy some time and wait for a gust.

:40:10. > :40:36.Look! Off his backfoot, a little hop at the end. What a shot! And hold

:40:37. > :41:33.that pose! That's beautiful, too! I can't

:41:34. > :41:37.believe Lopez hit the drop shot there - the first time in the match

:41:38. > :41:41.he's done so. Look at that! A good shot. He didn't have quite enough

:41:42. > :41:42.time to get into the net close enough after it.

:41:43. > :42:11.Well done, Cilic. Yes! We said at the start of the

:42:12. > :42:13.match he loves that serve. Nobody giving an inch in this tie-break.

:42:14. > :42:23.Fabulous contest. A 21st ace from Cilic takes him to

:42:24. > :44:09.Championship Point. Now his turn for a Championship

:44:10. > :44:23.Point. He's had one of these before, remember. Not in this match.

:44:24. > :45:58.He threw a lob up into the sky where the paper bags fly in the middle of

:45:59. > :46:52.that rally. Come on, my son. Cool as a cucumber, that is. Lopez

:46:53. > :47:03.was praying for Cilic to make a mistake. His first serve was well

:47:04. > :47:07.wide. Probably the worst serve in the whole match on his first serve.

:47:08. > :47:41.Missed it by mile. Extra adrenaline, I suppose.

:47:42. > :47:52.131 miles an hour, onto the line. 15 minute tie-break, it is an absolute

:47:53. > :48:28.beauty. Lopez, with another match point.

:48:29. > :48:40.Feliciano Lopez has seen match points come and go here before. This

:48:41. > :48:43.time, he's the champion. Who would have thought he would have come back

:48:44. > :48:54.and done this. What a wonderful story. Mum and dad flew in this

:48:55. > :49:22.morning, it was worth it. Coach and his doubles partner and

:49:23. > :49:32.great friend, Marc Lopez. Friends in the box throughout this week and mum

:49:33. > :49:38.and dad here. What a fantastic final to finish, what has been a most

:49:39. > :49:51.interesting week. We will read when all the big names went out. Fear

:49:52. > :49:59.not. He was supposed to lose to Stan Wawrinka, he didn't. Beat Tomas

:50:00. > :50:04.Berdych. Could have lost to Grigor Dimitrov, but got the job done. Then

:50:05. > :50:11.he was championship point down to Marin Cilic, but came through.

:50:12. > :50:14.Fabulous. Poor old Marin Cilic, you do remember those matches when you

:50:15. > :50:23.have the chance, specially on the championship point. He didn't lose

:50:24. > :50:29.his serve, did he. Lost the match. On Court to greet the presentation

:50:30. > :50:44.party, Stephen Farrow, tournament director, a gun Championships. --

:50:45. > :50:52.Aegon championship. Welcome Adrian Grace, the CEO of Aegon, the

:50:53. > :50:56.chairman of the Queen's Club. Martin Currie, president of the Lawn Tennis

:50:57. > :51:22.Association. To receive and Magnum of Moet

:51:23. > :51:29.champagne from Stephen trophy and trophy from Adrian Grace, the

:51:30. > :51:42.runner-up, Marin Cilic. APPLAUSE

:51:43. > :51:51.It wasn't to be. Two championship efforts in three years, but a

:51:52. > :51:52.wonderful tournament the Marin Cilic, who manages to smile under

:51:53. > :52:18.difficult circumstances. That was truly, gem of a final and

:52:19. > :52:23.the wonderful tie-break, one of the best we have ever seen. It is times

:52:24. > :52:31.like this it is a shame someone has to lose a match. But you threw

:52:32. > :52:34.everything at Feliciano? It was high-level tennis, and was a

:52:35. > :52:38.pleasure to play again in front of this amazing crime. It was an

:52:39. > :52:48.amazing final. It was definitely high quality. I had chances in the

:52:49. > :52:52.second set to be a break-up, and Feliciano was playing well.

:52:53. > :53:00.Congratulations to him, he plays well on grass and he deserves the

:53:01. > :53:04.title. Well said. We know you look playing here and you have played

:53:05. > :53:09.some great tennis so you must feel as though you are ready for

:53:10. > :53:13.Wimbledon. Definitely, I played great tennis this week, I have

:53:14. > :53:18.enjoyed every day. I am still in the double so I will be back on the

:53:19. > :53:22.court later. Hopefully I will get a trophy today. It has been an amazing

:53:23. > :53:27.week, great preparation for Wimbledon and always a pleasure to

:53:28. > :53:32.play here at the Queen's Club. That doubles match may be sooner than you

:53:33. > :53:37.think, it may be just a few minutes. You played a fantastic match and a

:53:38. > :53:41.fantastic tournament, all the best for Wimbledon. Ladies and gentlemen,

:53:42. > :53:53.Marin Cilic. APPLAUSE

:53:54. > :54:09.To receive Moet champagne from Stephen Farrow and the Aegon

:54:10. > :54:10.championship trophy from Adrian Grace, the 2017 champion, Feliciano

:54:11. > :54:32.Lopez. APPLAUSE

:54:33. > :54:45.Also the small matter of ?347,000. Magnificently prepared courts.

:54:46. > :54:50.Stephen Farrow, the tournament director has done a wonderful job.

:54:51. > :55:00.And here is this trophy which is quite sizeable. Been held up by so

:55:01. > :55:07.many great champions over the years. Rod Laveau, in 62, Roy Emerson,

:55:08. > :55:15.Jimmy Connors, John McEnroe. Boris Becker, who could forget 1985. Ivan

:55:16. > :55:19.Mendel, Stefan Edberg. Poor players do not win here.

:55:20. > :55:23.Feliciano Lopez is the champion. You are only saying yesterday it would

:55:24. > :55:29.be a dream to win this title, how did it feel to lift the trophy? I

:55:30. > :55:34.cannot believe I have finally won this trophy. I have been waiting so

:55:35. > :55:47.long, 15, 16 years to be here holding this trophy. I thought by

:55:48. > :55:52.the end of the tie-break, after losing a few match points, I would

:55:53. > :55:58.not be able to make it. But I was lucky. I won today and I want to

:55:59. > :56:06.congratulate my toughest opponent today. Best of luck for Wimbledon.

:56:07. > :56:09.U-boat played your part in a fantastic final. You mention the

:56:10. > :56:17.match points because you had a match point a few years go against

:56:18. > :56:24.Dimitrov, it did that come to your mind again? It was so difficult, to

:56:25. > :56:32.be there and handle my nerves. Finally I was able to today. I am so

:56:33. > :56:38.happy today. Many people like watching you here. You must have

:56:39. > :56:42.felt the support today? Yes, this place is amazing, thank you guys for

:56:43. > :56:45.coming through the whole week and you have been supporting me every

:56:46. > :56:55.year and it is amazing to play in this club. It is an honour and a

:56:56. > :57:00.pleasure to play on this court. It was a difficult start to the year,

:57:01. > :57:05.do you feel now you are playing your best tennis right now? Rightly, it

:57:06. > :57:11.is tough to believe that at 35 years old I am playing my best tennis, but

:57:12. > :57:16.yes I am. Nothing wrong with that. Your parents flew in for the final,

:57:17. > :57:21.I think they are enjoying it now but I think it was a nervous afternoon?

:57:22. > :57:32.Yes, they came for the final and also my agent and other friends. I

:57:33. > :57:38.would like to thank my whole team, from my coach, my friends and my

:57:39. > :57:43.parents. Thank you for everything you have done for me. Since we

:57:44. > :57:49.started working together, it has been very successful and I hope it

:57:50. > :57:53.continues the same way. To my friends, thank you, you guys are

:57:54. > :58:00.amazing, supporting me every single year here in London. It feels like

:58:01. > :58:05.home. It is because of you. Can we thank you for everything you have

:58:06. > :58:11.done for this tournament and for a great final. Stephen, you guys are

:58:12. > :58:20.amazing, a great effort to achieve the best 500 event of the year. You

:58:21. > :58:26.got better this year, so there is no work for you now in the future! So,

:58:27. > :58:29.many congratulations. It is definitely one of the best

:58:30. > :58:34.tournament in the world. We look forward to seeing you next year, so

:58:35. > :58:39.good luck at Wimbledon, you must feel ready for that now? There is no

:58:40. > :58:46.better preparation going into Wimbledon, to win here and to play

:58:47. > :58:50.Wimbledon in a couple of weeks, it is a great feeling. I don't want to

:58:51. > :58:56.forget Aegon, the main sponsor and for their support over the years and

:58:57. > :59:02.that other tournaments. I hope to see you next year guys, thank you

:59:03. > :59:02.for everything. Enjoy the celebration, ladies and gentlemen,

:59:03. > :59:22.Feliciano Lopez. COMMENTATOR: the pictures that will

:59:23. > :59:29.be in the newspapers and online, good works from both Marin Cilic and

:59:30. > :59:34.Feliciano Lopez. Cannot be easy for Marin Cilic, who has going to come

:59:35. > :59:40.out now and play doubles. It looks like going to deciding tie-break

:59:41. > :59:46.there. There is wonderful trophy. So many memories, Lleyton Hewitt, Andy

:59:47. > :59:59.Murray, the five-time champion. Marin Cilic is on there from 2012.

:00:00. > :00:02.The infamous final when David Nalbandian was disqualified.

:00:03. > :00:14.Feliciano Lopez, will be playing his 16th Wimbledon championship on

:00:15. > :00:18.Monday week. So much tennis ahead. There will be a different atmosphere

:00:19. > :00:23.at Roehampton. The weather forecast is in great from the middle of the

:00:24. > :00:31.week towards the end. Certainly had a hot summer this week for four

:00:32. > :00:34.days. He is not the first Spaniard, left-handed Spaniard to raise this

:00:35. > :00:40.trophy above his head. Rafael Nadal has been in this position. Who knows

:00:41. > :00:50.how far Lopez will go at the Championships.

:00:51. > :00:58.I don't think anybody has won a tournament this year saving match

:00:59. > :01:03.points in two matches. That is what he's done this week. It is a rare

:01:04. > :01:10.achievement. You will remember the match point against Tomas Berdych,

:01:11. > :01:23.the number seven seed. Match point, despite a superb

:01:24. > :01:30.return from Berdych. A spectacular week. Confirming the prize money.

:01:31. > :01:38.Well the points are 500 points. 300 to the runner up. That will make a

:01:39. > :01:45.big difference to the ranking. ?347,000 as well. I saw him arrive

:01:46. > :01:49.on Monday morning, from Stuttgart having three 4 set matches last

:01:50. > :01:54.week. And he did look absolutely exhausted. He's brought his best

:01:55. > :02:03.tennis here and he's the champion. Wonderful. That's his biggest

:02:04. > :02:09.supporter. I hope you've enjoyed the tennis. I will leave you with Sue

:02:10. > :02:11.Barker, who has made her way back to the studio.

:02:12. > :02:20.I have. Just watching him on the court, it means so much to him. He

:02:21. > :02:25.always plays his best tennis here. He's been so close to winning the

:02:26. > :02:29.championship. Make no mistake, this is a huge title to win. Look at the

:02:30. > :02:37.name, the tennis greats who have won this in the past. This is a moment

:02:38. > :02:40.he'll never forget. John, how impressed were you with that

:02:41. > :02:44.tie-break? The standard was incredible. It was incredible. When

:02:45. > :02:52.you consider how windy it was out there. It really just, just... I'm

:02:53. > :02:57.amazed they played as well as they did. So few unforced errors. Also,

:02:58. > :03:03.John, it was very windy out there and to be able to play this standard

:03:04. > :03:10.of tennis with this control just shows how bold they are. They are

:03:11. > :03:18.both so sharp right now, apart from the physical exhaustion. They are

:03:19. > :03:22.peaking... They are magnificent. The rallies were ridiculous. The gets

:03:23. > :03:28.they were getting. I mean, look at that stretch! And you just wonder...

:03:29. > :03:31.The crowd were on their feet. This was just an incredible way to end

:03:32. > :03:36.the torn. We came here thinking when we lost some of the big names, what

:03:37. > :03:39.would we do? We were treated to a wonderful final. This, one of the

:03:40. > :03:43.greatest tie-breaks you will ever see on a tennis court. As I said out

:03:44. > :03:47.there, it is a shame that one had to lose. It was unbelievable. Marin

:03:48. > :03:51.Cilic did not lose his serve today and loses the finals. He played

:03:52. > :03:55.brilliantly. I agree with you, it was one of the best tie-breakers I

:03:56. > :03:59.have ever seen. It was extraordinary. Point after point.

:04:00. > :04:01.And this was the big chance that you have to say, well played Marin Cilic

:04:02. > :04:09.here. Bjorkman trying to get him to come

:04:10. > :04:16.forward, keep attacking and he did that a match point down. That is

:04:17. > :04:21.right. That was not so good. One of the few mistakes he made all day

:04:22. > :04:26.long. It was a high-quality match all the way throughout.

:04:27. > :04:29.And Marin Cilic, he's such a good player on this. You have to say

:04:30. > :04:33.walking away from this, you have to pat him on the back and say, you

:04:34. > :04:36.didn't really do anything wrong, maybe that last shot was about the

:04:37. > :04:42.only thing that went wrong. He loses the final. As I say, didn't lose his

:04:43. > :04:45.serve. What will his coach say to that? Well, you did everything you

:04:46. > :04:49.could. It came down literally to one point. You could easily have won it.

:04:50. > :04:53.In some ways looking at the stats you could have said he was the

:04:54. > :04:57.slightly better player today. It all comes down to the tie-breaker and in

:04:58. > :05:03.that Lopez was amazing on a couple of extra shots. He was getting

:05:04. > :05:08.emotional talking about his team. He spoke about how difficult the year

:05:09. > :05:11.had been, he had an injury. He couldn't put together back-to-back

:05:12. > :05:16.victories in tournaments throughout March. To come here and produce this

:05:17. > :05:21.tennis, the team with him play a big part in that as well. It is a dream

:05:22. > :05:25.for him to. Be aged 35 and playing your best tennis. I'm sure he's just

:05:26. > :05:29.saying, don't wake me up here, because I'd like to continue with

:05:30. > :05:32.this lifestyle for many years to come.

:05:33. > :05:40.Well, good luck with that. It is, I mean 35, there are so many players

:05:41. > :05:45.now, probably more in the main draw of the Grand Slams over 30 now than

:05:46. > :05:49.under 30. Exactly. They keep themselves in such shape now. It is

:05:50. > :05:54.a science out there. They know how to prepare in the season, during the

:05:55. > :05:59.offseason, how to eat, when to train, when to take the rests. These

:06:00. > :06:03.guys are, they are physical specimens out there. The way he

:06:04. > :06:08.manages his game now, Lopez, he knows exactly how he should play and

:06:09. > :06:11.does it to perfection. On this surface he's absolutely awesome.

:06:12. > :06:15.Three times a quarter finalist at Wimbledon. You have to say, hey, he

:06:16. > :06:22.could get there again. No question. He might be one of the bookies'

:06:23. > :06:27.favourites to get to the quarters, not necessarily to win the title.

:06:28. > :06:34.But you know, nobody wants the plan, that's for sure. Looking ahead,

:06:35. > :06:40.Wimbledon, only a week away. Everyone is hoping their games,

:06:41. > :06:44.getting -- honing their games, getting ready for Wimbledon. You

:06:45. > :06:49.have to put Federer the favourite this week. How does anybody come

:06:50. > :06:56.back from not playing and pick it up in two seconds flat. He lost to

:06:57. > :07:04.Robin Haase. Them he wins easily, two sets, now is ready to go. Novak

:07:05. > :07:08.Djokovic has gone to Eastbourne. He needs matches, doesn't he? It h will

:07:09. > :07:13.interesting to see how he reacts to that. You know the wind will blow

:07:14. > :07:18.down there. Does that help his game? Or does it even take his rhythm away
