:01:04. > :01:08.up day one of Royal Ascot, we have enjoyed a stunning afternoon so far

:01:08. > :01:12.here and big crowds watched the Royal procession, which kicked off

:01:12. > :01:16.the afternoon's events and we have had two races so far and still to

:01:17. > :01:22.come, the feature race, the biggest race of the day, the 150th

:01:22. > :01:29.anniversary of the Prince of Wales' Stakes, a Group 1 over a mile-and-

:01:29. > :01:32.a-quarter, in which the Queen has a running, a very good one - Carlton

:01:32. > :01:36.House. He's definitely developed physically from three to four years

:01:36. > :01:42.old and we will find out today whether he's up to the class as a

:01:42. > :01:47.four-year-old. Could be very, very exciting indeed. I think he's got a

:01:47. > :01:53.chance, don't you? He's got a chance, but he's got a tough nut to

:01:53. > :02:01.crack in So You Think, the Irish or Australian colt. He is a very, very

:02:01. > :02:06.good animal. Of course, it's a very good race and we have our next

:02:06. > :02:10.French horse, now trained by Marco Botti in Newmarket called Planteur.

:02:10. > :02:16.He's another very good horse and we have heard that he's well fancied

:02:16. > :02:20.in the race as well. So, we have got a very good race in prospect.

:02:20. > :02:26.My personal opinion is that I would go for So You Think, because he's a

:02:26. > :02:31.horse that has been all over the world, he knows he's tough. He's a

:02:31. > :02:35.heavy weight. I mean that literally as well as metaphorically. The

:02:35. > :02:43.story of the day so far has been that favourites have not been

:02:43. > :02:46.walking into the winners enclosure. We have had a very -- had a few

:02:46. > :02:50.very long-priced winners. Aidan O'Brien was waiting for a winner

:02:50. > :02:56.this year. He didn't have to wait long this afternoon, because a

:02:56. > :03:01.filly owned and bred by his wife won our opening race, the Jersey

:03:01. > :03:11.Stakes. Ish Varna was returned at a price -- Ishvana was returned at a

:03:11. > :03:21.price of 20-1. Shaney Hefferman, his first Royal Ascot winner and

:03:21. > :03:22.

:03:22. > :03:28.huge celebrations for the family. Jovality was the second winner.

:03:28. > :03:35.Will yuem Buick on board. He had a -- William Buick on board. He had a

:03:35. > :03:45.terrible fall last night when Nile fell. These are the races still to

:03:45. > :04:03.

:04:03. > :04:10.a pretty decent Royal Ascot? Yes. We were lit up by Frankel and we

:04:10. > :04:15.have been seeing some very good finishes with short heads and it's

:04:15. > :04:19.been - obviously All The Good horses, the real good horses, have

:04:19. > :04:25.been winning and we have had exciting races. We have got a lot

:04:26. > :04:31.more exciting racing to come. Especially our next race. A lot of

:04:31. > :04:35.heavy weights and then Saturday we are going to finish with the

:04:35. > :04:38.exciting Black Caviar, which is half of Australia coming to watch

:04:38. > :04:43.her. Those that aren't here watching her in the middle of the

:04:43. > :04:48.night on screens that have been put up around Melbourne. And forgot the

:04:48. > :04:51.richest race of all, tomorrow, the Gold Cup, which is a marvellous

:04:51. > :05:01.race. Three real heavy weights going to slog out over two-and-a-

:05:01. > :05:04.

:05:04. > :05:12.half miles. Flaming glory, -- Fame And Glory. Can he win again? He's

:05:12. > :05:18.trying to emulate the same stables Yates who won it four times.

:05:18. > :05:21.statue is in the paddock. The horses are being saddled. That's

:05:21. > :05:25.Carlton House and just have his nose and eyes wiped down to make

:05:25. > :05:28.sure he's absolutely gleaming when he comes into the paddock and we

:05:28. > :05:32.expect the Queen to make her way down from the Royal Box to have a

:05:32. > :05:37.chat with Ryan Moore, the man who will be on board this horse.

:05:37. > :05:45.Looking pretty good when he won last time out at Sandown. Came

:05:45. > :05:52.through a narrow gap and picked up well. Andrew Parker Bowles looking

:05:52. > :06:02.on there. He's giving us a little grin, the horse, for the cameras.

:06:02. > :06:03.

:06:03. > :06:44.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 41 seconds

:06:44. > :06:52.Eleven of them line up and here Jim little later. We have got a total

:06:52. > :07:02.of eleven runners for the 150th anniversary of the race. The queen

:07:02. > :07:02.

:07:02. > :07:06.about to come into the paddock, just going past the weighing room.

:07:06. > :07:11.The Earl of Wessex is behind her too. I'm sure that Carlton House

:07:11. > :07:17.will soon be in here and the Queen will be able to look at him and to

:07:17. > :07:23.all of the other runners in the race. Those runners include plant

:07:23. > :07:33.tour, trained by Marco Botti, who is an Italian-born trainer based in

:07:33. > :07:36.

:07:36. > :07:46.Newmarket. Mick was the man who got the mission to go to his yard to

:07:46. > :07:59.

:07:59. > :08:05.looks fantastic. Very good. I think think he's in very good condition

:08:05. > :08:15.at the moment. He's working very well. Is he cheeky? No, such a

:08:15. > :08:19.

:08:19. > :08:25.gentleman. You're light. He looks nice and relaxed? Yeah. He's very

:08:25. > :08:32.laid back. Just like you, really? The yard has a great feel to it.

:08:32. > :08:35.Very relaxed atmosphere. It is. The horses are happy and relaxed.

:08:35. > :08:42.seems to have done particularly well since you've had him. I think

:08:42. > :08:50.he's done really well. I remember he came in the end of December and

:08:50. > :08:56.looked like a brood mare at that stage, very fat. Since then

:08:56. > :09:00.obviously he has worked out. him to run so well in Dubai against

:09:00. > :09:05.absolutely world-class horses and you know you can get him better

:09:05. > :09:11.than that, that must give you plenty of thought? Exactly. When he

:09:11. > :09:16.ran in the Dubai World Cup we took a chance. You never know how they

:09:16. > :09:24.will cope on that surface. He was a new horse, so we didn't have a

:09:24. > :09:28.chance to really know the horse. He's never been an extraordinary

:09:28. > :09:38.walker. He does enough, never overdoes himself. We were getting

:09:38. > :09:39.

:09:39. > :09:46.to know him. Plenty of class there. He looks the part. He's almost like

:09:46. > :09:55.a mirror. I don't think we could have him in any better shape for

:09:55. > :10:05.this. She is going to sit in the middle, so join in the last few and

:10:05. > :10:07.

:10:07. > :10:13.give him a nice blow. You need to have a horse with the right

:10:13. > :10:18.attitude and happy, mentally happy. Obviously for Royal Ascot there

:10:18. > :10:28.will be a big crowd. Again, to have a horse that's been on the big

:10:28. > :10:30.

:10:30. > :10:37.stage, so he's used to running and he has run fast. He's perfect this

:10:37. > :10:42.morning. You've got a smile. You happy? Yeah. Really, he's done

:10:42. > :10:49.enough for me. When you see him walk like that do you think

:10:49. > :10:57.suddenly Royal Ascot winner? Well, I try not to get too excited. I

:10:57. > :11:02.think he's done what I want to see and I'm really satisfied I think

:11:02. > :11:12.he's spot on for Ascot and we need a bit of luck as well, so I try to

:11:12. > :11:14.

:11:14. > :11:24.feet my feet -- I try to keep my feet on the ground. Plant tour

:11:24. > :11:27.

:11:27. > :11:37.looking fresh and well, make -- Planteur looking fresh and well,

:11:37. > :11:40.

:11:40. > :11:50.making his way in. There is Mickael Barzalona. We'll see where Planteur

:11:50. > :12:10.

:12:10. > :12:15.figures in the betting. I have managed to grab hold of Jenson

:12:15. > :12:20.Button. Not physically, observe l! Saw you presenting the award. How

:12:20. > :12:27.is your -- obviously! Saw you presenting the award. How is your

:12:27. > :12:30.knowledge? It's been a great day. I think the weather - we were lucky

:12:30. > :12:34.with the weather today and yeah, looking forward to the next race,

:12:34. > :12:38.because the Queen has got a horse in the race. Carlton House. In fact,

:12:38. > :12:43.we'll see it walking around here. It's parading around in the Parade

:12:43. > :12:49.Ring, so we can have a good look. There he is, over there. I only

:12:49. > :12:53.know, because I've put a little bit of money on. How much? I can't tell

:12:53. > :12:59.you. I lot, because you're rich? 20. Sports man's bet. Looking

:12:59. > :13:04.forward to that. I've put my money on a different horse. Wow! So You

:13:04. > :13:08.Think. I lost yesterday. Your season, you've had a textbook start

:13:08. > :13:14.in Melbourne, which is a track you've been successful on before

:13:14. > :13:19.and since then a few problems? was having such a good day. Sorry.

:13:19. > :13:25.It's a long season. Yeah, it is. The first few races were great and

:13:25. > :13:32.the last few have been pretty bad. However, I'm with a fantastic team

:13:32. > :13:35.and I know that we can sort those issues out. I spend a lot of time

:13:35. > :13:39.in the factory, since Canada, which was a tough race for me, but great

:13:39. > :13:43.race for the team and I've solved a lot of the issues so heading off

:13:43. > :13:48.tomorrow morning to Valencia. It's going to be hot in Spain this

:13:48. > :13:52.weekend. It's a fun race and I'm really looking forward to the

:13:52. > :13:57.weekend. Excellent. It's really early days and there's not a

:13:57. > :14:01.dominant force, romping away, so we are still safe to back you, right?

:14:01. > :14:05.Yes, you are a gambler, but it's been an unusual season. Seven

:14:05. > :14:09.winners in seven races, which has never been done before, so I don't

:14:09. > :14:12.know the reasons for it, but hopefully we'll understand the

:14:12. > :14:17.reasons for it sooner rather than later and before everyone else and

:14:17. > :14:21.we can get a bit of consistency there. That's the aim. I know I'm

:14:21. > :14:26.with a great team, so we'll fight through and start being competitive

:14:26. > :14:33.and winning races, I'm sure. We'll see between you and I who will win

:14:33. > :14:36.this race. Yes. I bet Clare has put some money on too. Down here, it's

:14:36. > :14:44.all abuzz. Jackie Stewart is here, continuing the Formula One theme.

:14:44. > :14:48.He's been introduced. The Queen is also here, because she has Carlton

:14:48. > :14:51.House and Ryan Moore joining the Queen and Sir Michael Stoute and

:14:51. > :14:55.John Warren to receive their instructions. They are down near

:14:55. > :15:02.the new winners circle. I am slightly further over and here we

:15:02. > :15:10.have an American-trained runner, Johnny Murtagh taking the ride on

:15:10. > :15:14.big blue kitten. Is there a lot of excitement here, Johnny?

:15:14. > :15:16.owner's daughter is taking all the pictures. All very excited to be

:15:16. > :15:26.here and hopefully he runs well. Nice horse in America, but the

:15:26. > :15:31.

:15:31. > :15:38.trip and we are enjoying it. I will let you keep snapping. Fantastic.

:15:38. > :15:42.Good luck. Over here Sheikh Mohammed and Princess Haya. William

:15:42. > :15:46.Buick wearing her colours. We didn't get to talk to you after the

:15:46. > :15:50.last race, well done and good luck here S that your first big race

:15:50. > :15:55.winner at Royal Ascot, have you had a couple before? Bonfire last year,

:15:55. > :15:59.which I was really pleased about. I think today was really special.

:15:59. > :16:03.John did an absolutely beautiful job training her and it's lovely to

:16:03. > :16:08.share it with Sheikh Mohammed who has followed her career the whole

:16:08. > :16:11.time and really she's such a lovely filly in the stables, so friendly

:16:11. > :16:18.and sweet with everyone. It's really nice to see her win. She's

:16:18. > :16:22.going to make a lovely brood mare for you. Not there yet. What about

:16:22. > :16:27.Colombian's chances in this? Fingers crossed. I actually really

:16:27. > :16:33.hope Carlton House wins. Well with the Sheikh Mohammed behind, I

:16:33. > :16:36.suspect also hopes Carlton House will win. We all do. OK. The

:16:36. > :16:43.Godolphin camp are cheering for the Queen in this, although they

:16:43. > :16:46.themselves have two runners. Farhh being the better fancied of those.

:16:46. > :16:51.Let's have a closer look at the horses with Rishi.

:16:51. > :16:54.We want to take a close look at the Queen's horse, Carlton House. He

:16:54. > :16:59.looks magnificent, Willie. He was in need of a first run at Sandown.

:16:59. > :17:02.He was in need of the run. He's obviously at his best distance,

:17:02. > :17:06.which is a mile and quarter, which is it is today. A lot of these

:17:06. > :17:10.horses are quite warm. He is still very cool. He looks absolutely

:17:10. > :17:15.marvellous. Would you have to nearly say that he is the pick of

:17:15. > :17:18.the paddock. Two horses behind him, Farhh, run three times for

:17:19. > :17:23.Godolphin. Won all three times, the last time was in a handicap. He is

:17:23. > :17:27.going to Group 1 company. Explain how difficult that will be. It's

:17:27. > :17:34.going to be something in the region, he is going to have to run 30lbs

:17:34. > :17:37.better than he's done in the past. It's a big jump. Like someone

:17:37. > :17:42.running in domestic competition going to international competition.

:17:42. > :17:45.It's a big jump. He is a strong horse, good looking too. Here come

:17:45. > :17:51.a couple of strong horses, the favourite, So You Think. They've

:17:51. > :17:55.let his mane grow. He looks wild! think he looks fitter than I have

:17:55. > :18:02.seen him in the past. He looks really trim and he is ready to do

:18:02. > :18:05.himself justice. He looks terrific. He's got a nice muscle on him. He

:18:05. > :18:13.looks in good form. Look at the size of the saddle on his back.

:18:13. > :18:23.Tiny, isn't it? Just behind So You Think is Sri Putra. He is a real

:18:23. > :18:25.

:18:25. > :18:35.sizable animal. He is a big bull of a horse and a very talented colt.

:18:35. > :18:35.

:18:35. > :18:39.Here is the American horse here, Big Blue Kitten. He looks quite

:18:39. > :18:41.well muscled and they've come all the way from America. They've a lip

:18:41. > :18:46.chain on him going around the paddock, but that's normal for

:18:46. > :18:50.America. He has a tongue tie on as well, which is also a normal thing

:18:50. > :18:57.for the American horses. In summary, the horses in the Prince of Wales

:18:57. > :19:02.Stakes, Carlton House is the pick. Joseph O'Brien just about to get a

:19:02. > :19:07.legup from his father, Aidan, on to So You Think. Just Just walking

:19:07. > :19:12.past us, Sir Michael Stoute and Ryan Moore going to make their way

:19:12. > :19:16.across to Carlton House and hop on him fairly late. The ones that are

:19:16. > :19:21.the most fancied, the jockeys delaying getting on their horses so

:19:21. > :19:26.they don't get their horses just too geed up before the parade

:19:26. > :19:33.because the horses will be walking down in front of the Grandstand and

:19:33. > :19:38.also cantering down to the start. Let's check the markets.

:19:38. > :19:48.So You Think 5-6 now. There is a 20,000 bet behind me just been

:19:48. > :19:56.

:19:56. > :20:00.So You Think. Aidan is just about to put Joseph on So You Think.

:20:00. > :20:07.Robin Hood, the pace-maker, just drifted past. This is the team,

:20:07. > :20:11.last year Ryan Moore was aboard So You Think when he was run down by

:20:11. > :20:15.scan Rewilding. -- by Rewilding. am hoping they ride this horse for

:20:15. > :20:18.a bit of speed. This horse has more speed than we have seen in the past.

:20:18. > :20:23.If this horse wins, of course, Aidan O'Brien will go to the top of

:20:23. > :20:29.the trainers' list for Royal Ascot this year. He will.

:20:29. > :20:33.So You Think, you think the horse to beat? I am going on So You Think

:20:33. > :20:36.for what he has done in the past, but that horse, Sir Michael

:20:36. > :20:40.Stoute's Carlton House, he looks terrific. OK. There you have it,

:20:40. > :20:46.Carlton House. The parade for this Prince of Wales

:20:46. > :20:51.Stakes is led by the American- trained Big Blue Kitten, Chad Brown

:20:51. > :20:55.the trainer, Johnny Murtagh on board and Johnnie being realistic

:20:55. > :21:00.about his opportunities but they're hopeful. Colombian next and that's

:21:00. > :21:04.because Carlton House is coming late and so too must be City Style,

:21:04. > :21:12.but Colombian for Princess Haya, William Buick on board. Then we

:21:12. > :21:20.have plan phrpb and you heard the - - Planteur and he is getting geed

:21:20. > :21:25.up today. Then we have Reliable Man, who won the French Derby last year.

:21:25. > :21:32.He looks very relaxed. Then we have City Style, again very

:21:32. > :21:35.jiggy. It's a close day. It's very very humid and with the noise and

:21:35. > :21:39.colour, some of the horses getting fizzed up. Frankie Dettori doing

:21:39. > :21:43.his best to settle the unbeaten Farhh. He's won all three of his

:21:43. > :21:48.starts so far. None of them in races of this quality, but he could

:21:48. > :21:51.be untapped potential. Then we have got a big gap and we

:21:51. > :21:56.saw the jockeys who were hanging back and delaying getting on board

:21:56. > :21:59.and one of those was Ryan Moore, riding Carlton House. He will be

:21:59. > :22:02.coming out shortly and one of the others was So You Think, and Joseph

:22:02. > :22:10.O'Brien I think was the last one to get legged up. The photographers

:22:10. > :22:19.all in position to make sure they get the best shot of the winner.

:22:20. > :22:23.This is Robin Hood, who will be the pace-maker for this race. 150-1,

:22:23. > :22:26.reflects his chance, he will stay in front for as long as he can and

:22:26. > :22:31.probably fade. They're hoping So You Think, this horse, this giant

:22:31. > :22:35.of a horse, will be the one who can pick up and capitalise in the

:22:36. > :22:41.closing stages, bred in New Zealand. Trained in Australia and now with

:22:41. > :22:46.Aidan O'Brien. Here is Sri Putra for Roger Varian. Neil Callan

:22:46. > :22:53.riding him. He is all right, but probably not quite this class.

:22:53. > :22:57.Then we have Wigmore Hall, for Jamie Spencer. He won a Group 1 in

:22:57. > :23:00.Canada last September so he is a Group 1 winner. Last of all will be

:23:00. > :23:05.Carlton House, being kept well away from the other runners, being taken

:23:05. > :23:09.down by two handlers and Ryan Moore doing his very best to make sure

:23:09. > :23:13.that nothing is going to wind this horse up before the stalls open and

:23:13. > :23:18.the mile and a quarter is the only thing he will be thinking about in

:23:18. > :23:21.terms of expending his energy and Carlton House looking actually very

:23:21. > :23:24.relaxed. A horse third in the Derby last year, fourth in the Irish

:23:24. > :23:29.Derby and then we didn't see him for the rest of the season but he

:23:29. > :23:32.came back with a convincing win at Sandown last time. This is a step

:23:32. > :23:36.up for him, but this will decide whether his four-year-old career is

:23:36. > :23:40.going to run along the lines of Group 1s all the way and whether he

:23:40. > :23:46.is as good as both the Queen hopes that he is, and also Sheikh

:23:46. > :23:50.Mohammed hopes that he is, because he gave him to the Queen. The crowd,

:23:50. > :23:53.an awful lot of them around those book-makers and trying to make

:23:53. > :23:56.their decisions. A lot of money will be going on Carlton House,

:23:56. > :24:05.because of the setting, because of the day, and because the Queen is

:24:05. > :24:09.here. So You Think, he was 44-11

:24:09. > :24:13.favourite, so much shorter for this race 12 months ago. We will look at

:24:13. > :24:18.his most recent run. An easy victory. Taking it up in front of

:24:18. > :24:22.the purple and white colours here. Mick, this was a good race. He is a

:24:22. > :24:25.very good horse and he's won it in good style. Interesting to note

:24:25. > :24:29.he's run at Ascot twice in his career and although he ran a good

:24:29. > :24:33.race 12 months ago on this day, he has been beaten both times he has

:24:33. > :24:39.run here. He has been beaten but he's been beaten by two very good

:24:39. > :24:43.horses, all we are really seeing here in this piece - showed his

:24:43. > :24:50.well-being, his liking for quick ground. He has everything in his

:24:50. > :24:55.favour. No Rewilding this year. Carlton House is a formidable foal,

:24:55. > :24:59.but this horse has to live up to the billing. He came as a superstar,

:24:59. > :25:04.he is yet to live up to that. best win in Europe will have been

:25:04. > :25:11.in the Eclipse in Sandown in the UK, he has been all over. He has been

:25:11. > :25:15.to France. He has been to Dubai, in the World Cup. He got beaten in the

:25:15. > :25:19.Breeders Cup, as well. There are a few, admittedly difficult races,

:25:19. > :25:23.and top quality opposition, a few defeats against him. He is much

:25:23. > :25:30.travelled. He doesn't look that way, he is a big, strong type. He is the

:25:30. > :25:34.right type for this race. He is a big horse. A heavy horse.

:25:34. > :25:38.Aidan O'Brien has admitted in the past maybe he hasn't given him

:25:38. > :25:42.enough work at home and got him looking fit and sleek, but Willie,

:25:42. > :25:48.you are impressed with his physical outline today. I think he is

:25:48. > :25:52.looking sleeker than I have ever seen him. He looks very fit indeed.

:25:52. > :25:55.Don't forget that among his great achievements in his successes

:25:56. > :25:59.probably the most remarkable is managing to finish third in the

:25:59. > :26:04.Melbourne Cup over two miles on soft ground off second top weight.

:26:04. > :26:07.Unbelievable. Yet you think he is not a stayer. He is a speed horse.

:26:07. > :26:11.I think we have seen him get beat on a few occasions where they've

:26:11. > :26:15.kicked a bit too early on him because they think he's got so much

:26:15. > :26:21.ability. But if they had waited I think his speed would have won the

:26:21. > :26:26.race. But this fella is a speed horse. So you are Ryan Moore, you

:26:26. > :26:30.wait and let So You Think go and try and catch him. He will trail So

:26:30. > :26:35.You Think and get him the last furlong, furlong and a half. But So

:26:35. > :26:41.You Think is a tough nut to crack. This horse does look tremendous.

:26:41. > :26:46.Doesn't he look wonderful. Tremendous. Looks really well.

:26:46. > :26:52.Hello! We have somebody going to collect him. Is that Stewart who

:26:52. > :26:57.works for Michael Stoute? I am certain it is. He is the head lad.

:26:57. > :27:01.He is. There is Sir Michael Stoute. A lot

:27:01. > :27:05.of pressure on his his shoulders at the moment. It's been a quieter

:27:05. > :27:09.season than he would have liked but coming into form now, to be fair.

:27:09. > :27:13.His horses last year, we all knew they weren't quite right. There was

:27:13. > :27:16.something - I don't know, virus, bug, whatever you call it in the

:27:16. > :27:21.yard, and a lot of those two-year- olds or three-year-olds now are

:27:21. > :27:31.coming out and winning the maidens. He's had a few winners recently, so

:27:31. > :27:35.

:27:35. > :27:38.his horses are coming back to form. This horse, who won at Sandown. He

:27:38. > :27:41.did well. Obviously, what we think of him last year, we thought he was

:27:42. > :27:45.going to win the Derby, didn't quite get home that day but ran a

:27:45. > :27:50.very good race to finish third. one I am most worried about in

:27:50. > :27:55.terms of getting warm and fractious is Planteur. He is dripping. He was

:27:55. > :28:00.getting wound up, even coming from the pre-parade ring. He is dripping.

:28:00. > :28:03.Unfortunately, in the paddock when he was walking around if you put a

:28:03. > :28:08.bucket underneath him you would have soon collected a lot of liquid.

:28:08. > :28:13.I wonder if that means he might be drifting down in the betting ring

:28:13. > :28:23.because punters are attune to this sort of thing. John? There's been

:28:23. > :28:25.

:28:25. > :28:29.an even 100,000 bet with So You Think. 100,000 at evens with

:28:29. > :28:32.Apollo, So You Think. Well, Farhh is the one we haven't

:28:32. > :28:41.discussed up there at the top of the betting. Unbeaten in all of his

:28:41. > :28:48.three starts so far. We are talking about - he was impressive in the

:28:48. > :28:56.Cup. It's one of those jumps you don't normally take, actually. It's

:28:56. > :29:01.a leap of faith you might say. So would you have 100,000 on even

:29:01. > :29:10.money on So You Think? If I was a rich man, yes. You are a rich man!

:29:10. > :29:13.I can't believe you haven't. So You Think going forward now. He's a

:29:13. > :29:18.good temperament this horse and interesting to see how he performs

:29:18. > :29:22.this year in a race that he was beaten in last year by Rewilding.

:29:22. > :29:26.Colombian going forward. The biggest cheer of all will come if

:29:26. > :29:30.Carlton House can be successful in this Prince of Wales Stakes. He

:29:30. > :29:37.looks up against it, because So You Think is a globe-trotting superstar,

:29:37. > :29:46.and a hot favourite. Here is Jim. Ryan Moore is the man entrusted

:29:46. > :29:50.with this Royal responsibility. Carlton House, Her Majesty

:29:50. > :29:55.anxiously looking down the course. The blindfold's been fitted to

:29:55. > :29:59.Carlton House. This is the equal richest race at the meeting. It's

:29:59. > :30:04.500,000 in prize money total. Diamond Jubilee Stakes on Saturday

:30:04. > :30:08.is the other one, the same prize money. Total of 4.5 million on

:30:08. > :30:12.offer this week here at Royal Ascot. Going forward is Farhh.

:30:12. > :30:18.City Style is going to be the last, I think.

:30:18. > :30:21.That's the one with the white cap. Michael Barzalona in the saddle.

:30:21. > :30:31.Others stand well. They're locked away. There is Ryan Moore on

:30:31. > :30:35.

:30:35. > :30:42.Carlton House who takes - ready to heading it off is the pacemaker,

:30:42. > :30:46.and So You Think is on the inside. Big Blue Kitten out very wide.

:30:46. > :30:51.Followed next by Wigmore Hall, tucked in behind them. Further back

:30:51. > :30:59.is Carlton House, settling about sixth in the early stages. Followed

:30:59. > :31:09.by Planteur and sli pute ra. In company there Bishop Sri Putra. In

:31:09. > :31:11.

:31:11. > :31:16.company there with Reliable Man -- and Sri Putra. In company there

:31:16. > :31:21.with Sri Putra and Reliable Man. A length-and-a-half to Carlton House

:31:21. > :31:27.and a fast-run race. From, on the outside, City Style, with the white

:31:27. > :31:30.cap, as they start to pull up towards the home turn now. Further

:31:30. > :31:34.back, followed by Sri Putra and Planteur on the inside from

:31:34. > :31:38.Reliable Man and Farhh is out the back. All the time, heading up the

:31:38. > :31:42.hill towards home and Robin Hood takes them along by two to Big Blue

:31:42. > :31:45.Kitten in second. And So You Think with the run of the race. Then

:31:45. > :31:49.Colombian on the inside and Wigmore Hall. A length then to Carlton

:31:49. > :31:53.House, tucked away on the inside as they come to the turn. City Style

:31:53. > :31:59.on the outer. Then further back is Sri Putra from Planteur and out the

:31:59. > :32:05.back is Farhh, with Reliable Man. They are on the turn for home.

:32:05. > :32:10.Straightening up and Robin Hood under pressure. Here is So You

:32:10. > :32:15.Think. Joseph O'Brien and now getting a run is Carlton House. Now

:32:15. > :32:19.racing early. He gets to work on So You Think. Carlton House has stolen

:32:19. > :32:23.half a length, but So You Think is coming at him. A furlong left to

:32:24. > :32:30.come and it's So You Think. He takes it up and he's powering away.

:32:30. > :32:34.This is the real So You Think. So You Think goes on to win the Prince

:32:34. > :32:38.of Wales' Stakes then Carlton House and Farhh in third, followed then

:32:38. > :32:44.by Reliable Man and Sri Putra and City Style and they were followed

:32:44. > :32:50.then by Planteur. Well back is Wigmore Hall. Followed then by Big

:32:50. > :32:53.Blue Kitten. Out the back Colombian and the pacemaker, Robin Hood has

:32:54. > :33:00.fnished absolute last. The winner is number nine, So You Think,

:33:00. > :33:05.recording his tenth Group 1 victory. This much-travelled international

:33:05. > :33:13.superstar has won the 150th San rerstary of the Prince of Wales'

:33:13. > :33:23.Stakes by three. -- 150th anniversary of the Prince of Wales'

:33:23. > :33:29.

:33:29. > :33:36.Stakes by three. There is City Style and Planteur. A gap to

:33:36. > :33:41.Colombian and Wigmore Hall and then the others a fair way back. He got

:33:41. > :33:45.the run on the inside. He took full advantage. He had a half length up

:33:45. > :33:50.and went for home, but then Joseph O'Brien, who had been riding

:33:50. > :33:55.quietly at that stage, got to work. He gpbt get an immediate response,

:33:55. > :34:00.but event -- didn't get an immediate response, but eventually

:34:00. > :34:10.he got the one he was asking for. There is strength and determination

:34:10. > :34:10.

:34:10. > :34:14.and class was telling in the end. This news-bred and former

:34:15. > :34:19.Australian-trained superstar has got the money. So You Think is the

:34:19. > :34:29.winner. The distances were two-and- a-quarter lengths, a half length

:34:29. > :34:35.

:34:35. > :34:39.between second and third. The time 2 minutes and three. He is an

:34:39. > :34:44.extraordinarily good horse, this. When he delivered the knock-out

:34:44. > :34:51.punch there was no coming back and galantly as Carlton House has tried,

:34:51. > :34:54.he has been beaten by a really experienced battle-hardened Group 1

:34:54. > :35:00.performer and Aidan O'Brien, his second win of the day and of the

:35:00. > :35:07.week for Joseph O'Brien, his son. His very first Royal Ascot success.

:35:07. > :35:12.Nice to do it in a Group 1 race. Marvellous. This High Chaperal colt,

:35:13. > :35:18.he's very, very good. Today, you saw Joseph and he had the help of

:35:18. > :35:23.the pacemaker and he sat and he was in third and this horse relaxed

:35:23. > :35:29.underneath him. He was always in the right place. He actually waited

:35:29. > :35:34.and was glad to see this. He waited until the danger came and showed

:35:34. > :35:39.its face before he asked the horse to attack, but this guy has a turn

:35:39. > :35:43.of foot. I know he's by High Chaperal, who is basically a

:35:43. > :35:49.staying stallion, but this guy has a lovely turn of foot. We won't see

:35:49. > :35:54.him many more times in this country. He may run in the Eclipse and go to

:35:54. > :35:58.Australia and then stand as a stallion. He'll come back to

:35:58. > :36:03.Ireland and stand there. So You Think, Joseph O'Brien was always

:36:03. > :36:07.handy, good, strong pace set and Johnny was there on Big Blue Kitten

:36:07. > :36:12.and Joseph was close enough, but patient. You can see Ryan Moore

:36:12. > :36:19.going to make sure he gets the gaps and the run on the rail: Joseph

:36:19. > :36:23.hasn't gone until he sees Carlton House on his inside. You can see,

:36:23. > :36:28.possibly he took a furlong when they went head-to-head, then the

:36:28. > :36:38.superiorty of So You Think came into play about the furlong poll.

:36:38. > :36:41.

:36:41. > :36:45.He took off. Dur furlong pole. He's going to be very hard to peat --

:36:45. > :36:47.furlong pole. He's going to be hard to beat. There is the Queen and

:36:47. > :36:51.watching the closing stage and for a moment for a stride or two I'm

:36:51. > :36:58.sure they thought it might happen and then in the last 100 yards or

:36:58. > :37:04.so, this horse, the big horse, So You Think, asserted his superiorty.

:37:04. > :37:07.That rich man who had 100,000 on he's going to the bookmaker to

:37:07. > :37:12.collect. He's celebrating and so too the family. It's a big, big day

:37:12. > :37:16.for them and a good day and for this horse, So You Think, I think

:37:16. > :37:23.that takes his earnings and I'm sure Jim will confirm this, past

:37:23. > :37:33.the 5 million mark? I'm sure it does, Clare, because he has won two

:37:33. > :37:33.

:37:33. > :37:42.top places in Australia. This is his crowning achievement. He won

:37:42. > :37:46.the Eclipse last year when she wasn't fully ac climb tiesed. He

:37:46. > :37:50.has won three races in Ireland. There is he is on the outside. He

:37:50. > :38:00.goes to the line far too strongly for Carlton House and he's won it

:38:00. > :38:02.

:38:02. > :38:12.very, very well. So You Think is by High Chaperal and out of the mare

:38:12. > :38:21.

:38:21. > :38:31.Triacic. As this horse comes back, a magnificent win by So You Think

:38:31. > :38:46.

:38:46. > :38:50.in the Prince of Wales' Stakes. FANFARE

:38:50. > :38:55.This horse is a global superstar. Bred in New Zealand originally

:38:55. > :39:00.raised in Australia, now based in Ireland, he wins his tenth Group 1

:39:00. > :39:05.of his life and he passes the 5 million prize money barrier. So You

:39:05. > :39:09.Think is the horse. Trained by I'den O'Brien and ridden, his very

:39:09. > :39:19.first Royal Ascot winner, ridden by Joseph O'Brien. So You Think, the

:39:19. > :39:20.

:39:20. > :39:29.winner of the Premier Leagues' Stakes. This race first run in 1862.

:39:29. > :39:39.Won by some real champions. Toto was a real star. He won it for the

:39:39. > :39:42.

:39:43. > :39:48.late Alec Stewart. Dubai Millennium, a really big winner of this race in

:39:48. > :39:57.the Godolphin colours not that long back. So You Think is a real globe

:39:57. > :40:01.Trotter. Derek Smith, in the lucky purple colours. Worn by Camelot

:40:01. > :40:07.this year in the 2000 Guineas and Derby and now this Prince of Wales'

:40:08. > :40:11.Stakes. Historic race. One of the most historic in the calendar. As

:40:11. > :40:21.happy connections discuss what happened out there, we'll check the

:40:21. > :40:37.

:40:37. > :40:47.full details to see what price he and 14 wins. Four seconds and a

:40:47. > :40:49.

:40:49. > :40:56.third. He has won five Group 1s in Europe and five in Australia. By

:40:56. > :41:04.High Chaperal, who was a famous Ballydoyle double Derby winner and

:41:04. > :41:10.also a double Breeders' Cup winner. Great performance. A real character

:41:10. > :41:18.of a horse and Joseph O'Brien, 19 years of age. He's ridden a Derby

:41:18. > :41:23.winner and he's ridden a Royal Ascot winner. And a 2000 Guineas

:41:23. > :41:27.winner. He stands six foot tall and he's riding at around nine stone,

:41:27. > :41:34.which is absolutely remarkable. As Willie was commenting before, the

:41:34. > :41:44.size of the saddle. It's so small. It's a little more than the size of

:41:44. > :41:47.

:41:47. > :41:51.a slightly large race card. There is Joseph nearest the camera.

:41:51. > :41:56.O'Brien's two wins today take him past John Dunlop into third place

:41:56. > :42:00.in terms of the leading trainers who have licences at the moment.

:42:00. > :42:06.Sir Henry Cecil is on 74. Bearing in mind, he trained his first Royal

:42:06. > :42:14.Ascot in 1970. Mike at stout trained his first winner in 1977.

:42:14. > :42:18.Aidan O'Brien, since just 1997 has moved into third place there. As I

:42:18. > :42:21.mentioned, when the horses came in for Joseph O'Brien, it's a first

:42:21. > :42:29.and Willie he's growing more and more into the role and handling the

:42:29. > :42:35.pressure so well of riding the hot favourites. He has. 19 years of age.

:42:35. > :42:41.I never rode a winner until I was 19 and here's this kid. And won the

:42:41. > :42:50.Derby on Camelot. Unbelievable. I keep thinking about all the books I

:42:50. > :42:57.read about Lester Piggott. This guy, he's so much in that mold. He rode

:42:57. > :43:03.a we will-timed, sympathetic race. It's the way he does it. He is

:43:03. > :43:09.sitting on a superstar who is gliding along and he is sitting

:43:09. > :43:14.there motionless and wonderful jockeyship. As the horse leaves,

:43:14. > :43:21.we'll hear from the man who has guided him in the latter stages of

:43:21. > :43:25.his racing career, Aidan O'Brien. Winning trainer, Aidan O'Brien,

:43:25. > :43:30.with a second victory. Huge sigh of relief, but you were expecting a

:43:30. > :43:33.lot from this horse today? Absolutely. We felt we had him in a

:43:33. > :43:38.place that he has never been in before with us. We've had him 18

:43:38. > :43:42.months and it took me that time to learn to train him, so it's

:43:42. > :43:46.incredible. If we went back and listened to everybody and to what

:43:46. > :43:52.Mark was saying and what has been said in Australia about him and the

:43:52. > :43:55.things to do and not to do, we did all those things and we took all

:43:55. > :44:00.the information that probably took me a year and five months to start

:44:00. > :44:05.listening to or six months, but listen, we listened to it in the

:44:05. > :44:10.end and all the team at home, everybody involved, we felt he was

:44:10. > :44:15.in a place today where he was never, ever in before, so obviously we

:44:15. > :44:19.were delighted. You never irritated by bart's comments in regards to So

:44:19. > :44:24.You Think? No, I was delighted to hear it because he was speaking

:44:24. > :44:31.from the heart and obviously I was probably overworking the horse here

:44:31. > :44:35.and trying to gallop the speed out of him instead of letting him with

:44:35. > :44:39.natural the way he was and Joseph then was very much of the opinion

:44:39. > :44:44.he was going to ride him that way and wait, because everyone was of

:44:44. > :44:48.the opinion before he came to us he was all speed and I suppose I just

:44:48. > :44:51.set off on the wrong leg and started trying to make him stay a

:44:51. > :44:57.mile-and-a-half and probably overworked him and too long, and

:44:57. > :45:02.too often. Instead of letting him be natural. It's a half thing. We

:45:02. > :45:08.knew we only had a few runs left and we knew that he had run in all

:45:08. > :45:12.the top races, but there was that little thing missing, so we knew we

:45:12. > :45:17.only had today and maybe Sandown left. The lads were confident he

:45:17. > :45:27.would come, but you can't be sure, but we felt he was in a place never

:45:27. > :45:33.

:45:33. > :45:36.port of call. If he is going stud there's a cut-off point. That will

:45:36. > :45:41.be their decision. They will talk about that and we will give their

:45:41. > :45:46.input and that will be it. That will be their decision. I think at

:45:46. > :45:54.Sandown we had it in our head that could have been a cut-off point.

:45:54. > :45:58.Obviously we'll be pleading hard now but obviously it will be a big

:45:58. > :46:02.decision and a lot of things are expected to happen whatever. We are

:46:02. > :46:06.just delighted that we eventually got him back to where Bart had him.

:46:06. > :46:13.And where all the people in Australia said he was. All I can

:46:13. > :46:17.say is I'm sorry I took so long to get him to show it. He is one of

:46:18. > :46:22.those special horses and he has that great travelling class and he

:46:22. > :46:26.showed it today. The last thing I want to ask you is about the man

:46:26. > :46:33.standing to your right, we've seen a lot of the two of you in the UK

:46:33. > :46:37.this year. How did a ride did Joseph give So You Think today?

:46:37. > :46:42.are delighted. We had spoken between ourselves and Joseph knew

:46:42. > :46:47.what he wanted to do. Obviously I was delighted and thrilled. I can't

:46:47. > :46:53.tell you, Rishi. Well done Aidan. Joseph, did Ryan Moore get the

:46:53. > :46:58.first run on you down the inside? He quickened up very well. I got

:46:58. > :47:02.the slip through on the inside and I had to come around Johnny. Once

:47:02. > :47:09.my horse got to see him on the inside he was never going to be

:47:09. > :47:15.beat. You seem to be close to the pace set by Robin Hood. Was it

:47:15. > :47:19.important to get into the right thithle? I wanted to get into the

:47:19. > :47:22.right rhythm. He relaxed great. Loads of class and pace. When

:47:22. > :47:29.things work out he is an exceptional horse. It's been an

:47:29. > :47:36.amazing season - the classics, the Derby, and now a Royal Ascot winner

:47:36. > :47:42.I'm lucky to be able to ride some nice horses. I owe big thanks to

:47:42. > :47:48.all the owners for giving me nice opportunities to ride some good

:47:48. > :47:51.horses. And Mr and MrsS O'Brien. Well done. Thank you. Sir Michael

:47:51. > :47:54.Stoute with the Queen, talking through what happened there. He

:47:54. > :47:58.said afterwards to reporters that they knew they were up against a

:47:58. > :48:03.really good horse in So You Think. They knew he would be very hard to

:48:03. > :48:08.beat and they have no excuses. I think Carlton House has won an

:48:08. > :48:15.outstanding race and has been beaten by a really good horse. An

:48:15. > :48:20.extraordinary interview by Aidan O'Brien basically admitting he has

:48:20. > :48:25.been getting it wrong, that they've been riding the horse too much for

:48:25. > :48:31.stamina and not for speed. I said that on air last year. This horse

:48:31. > :48:36.has tremendous turn of foot. Because he's such a big horse and

:48:36. > :48:40.he is by High Chaparral, obviously at home he's a bit cold and laid

:48:40. > :48:46.back. They've been getting the wrong impression of him. But he is

:48:46. > :48:49.a big horse. In Australia, the ground is pretty firm and he was

:48:49. > :48:54.winning over seven furlongs in Group 1 company, so he's obviously

:48:54. > :48:58.got a lovely turn of foot. What a year Derek Smith has had. He saw

:48:58. > :49:02.his colours carried to victory in the Investec Oaks and the

:49:02. > :49:08.Coronation Cup and the Derby and now in the Prince Of Wales Stakes,

:49:08. > :49:18.as he soars past the 100 Group 1 winners' market. I think that's the

:49:18. > :49:18.

:49:18. > :49:26.grandson, Max Wachman's son. I think that's him. I hope I'm right.

:49:26. > :49:31.And Michael Tabor. The presentation being made by Her Royal Highness

:49:31. > :49:39.the Princess Royal, whose daughter, Zara Phillips, has been selected to

:49:39. > :49:46.ride in the Olympics, on a horse called High Kingdom. Like a little

:49:46. > :49:50.pony, he can turn and she can pull him up quickly. It will be very

:49:50. > :49:54.good for Greenwich. They've selected horses that are suited to

:49:54. > :49:59.that track, and that does make a difference. And they've got the

:49:59. > :50:07.Derby winner in Camelot, this team. So You Think, you would think one

:50:07. > :50:13.more run and then down to Australia to stand at stud at Coolmore down

:50:13. > :50:19.there. Coolmore is a fantastic stud. They've got the most marvellous

:50:19. > :50:24.stallions Galileo and before Galileo was the great Sadler's

:50:24. > :50:29.Wells. Galileo looks as though he's going to take Sadler wells' crown

:50:29. > :50:39.and put more notches on it. It is an amazing piece of island down

:50:39. > :50:42.

:50:42. > :50:47.there, is it in Tipperary? Yes, it is. This horse has is one from High

:50:47. > :50:51.Chaparral, another Derby winner. sounded if in those interviews that

:50:51. > :50:58.it was Joseph who said what you have been saying for a year, Willie,

:50:58. > :51:03.that I will wait for turn of foot. He waited until the Queen's horse

:51:03. > :51:08.showed his face and then went for it. Joseph was a very good event

:51:08. > :51:12.rider. His two sisters are as well, and his two brothers are keen as

:51:12. > :51:16.well. They ride ponies and go show jumping from a young age. Joseph,

:51:16. > :51:22.although he is tall, is keeping his weight down certainly well enough

:51:22. > :51:28.to ride at 9 stone in these races. There's a lot of jockeys in the

:51:28. > :51:33.Weighing Room who wish he would go back to that. Fantastic success.

:51:33. > :51:37.We've heard plenty of the winner So You Think and the runner-up,

:51:37. > :51:43.Carlton House. Let's look at Farhh, the principal of the Godolphin

:51:43. > :51:51.horses in the race, and Frankie Dettori's mount. He is in stall 8.

:51:51. > :51:54.This is a little way before the start. He does try to rear up twice,

:51:54. > :51:58.Mick. I had a word with Frankie Dettori and he said they fell out

:51:58. > :52:03.of the stalls when they opened and he felt they were struggling after

:52:03. > :52:07.that. Only his fourth race and a bold move. He came here, and no

:52:07. > :52:13.disrespect to racing at Thirsk, but a handicap there isn't the same as

:52:13. > :52:16.a Group 1 at Royal Ascot is it? but it shows he is a really

:52:16. > :52:22.progressive type. Frankie's face told the story. Early on, they

:52:22. > :52:28.didn't go that fast. I got the impression that making the

:52:28. > :52:34.pacemaker got a shout from O'Brien. They very bunched up. You can see

:52:34. > :52:38.Johnny Murtagh is keen to make them go faster on the American horse.

:52:38. > :52:44.Let's look where they were at this stage. The winner, So You Think is

:52:44. > :52:54.there, and Carlton House is in second and Farhh is third, and

:52:54. > :52:54.

:52:54. > :52:58.Redact is -- Reliable Man is at the back. They are going to come

:52:58. > :53:04.different sides and Frankie doesn't get the best of runs through.

:53:04. > :53:10.got stopped twice. It cost him any chance of winning the race. His

:53:10. > :53:15.horse was running a blinder. Gerald Mosse on the other hand said he

:53:15. > :53:18.felt it didn't help him but he felt his horse ran a very good race.

:53:18. > :53:22.Very pleased with him. Ryan Moore on Carlton House, a word with him.

:53:22. > :53:27.He said this horse is running a blinder. He got all the breaks in

:53:27. > :53:30.the race. He was just beaten bay very good horse. We know the winner

:53:30. > :53:35.is very good and that's another group 1 for him. Carlton House, it

:53:35. > :53:40.can't be far away now can it? So You Think is no longer going be

:53:40. > :53:45.racing in Europe after early July I think it is, so thats the way for

:53:45. > :53:49.him, so long as he can avoid Frankel. You can't win everything

:53:49. > :53:53.in life. Without a shadow of a doubt. That's the big race of the

:53:53. > :53:59.day, the Prince Of Wales Stakes. Look ought for Farhh and maybe

:53:59. > :54:02.Carlton House will get that Group 1, but let's hope they avoid Frankel.

:54:03. > :54:07.Thing will be number one on their list and everybody else's list as

:54:07. > :54:10.well. A wonderful day here at Ascot. Beautiful sunshine in which people

:54:10. > :54:20.have been enjoying all of the scenes that make this a sporting

:54:20. > :54:25.occasion like no other. That mixture of racing and fun as well.

:54:25. > :54:29.# Working 9 till 5 # What do we get

:54:29. > :54:36.# Don't you wish your girlfriend could bake like me

:54:36. > :54:41.# Don't you wish your girlfriend wore frocks like these? Doncha,

:54:41. > :54:46.doncha, doncha # But my body's too tootsylicious

:54:46. > :54:51.for you, babe. # Finally a winner. I was watching

:54:51. > :54:57.that race with Peter Jones, in a box ownered by one of the co-owners

:54:57. > :55:02.of so. So I love so. So it's my second winner. What a day! He said

:55:03. > :55:08.this morning, have you got a tip. I've been rubbish so far and I said,

:55:08. > :55:13.So You Think. Wow! What a winner. He really romped home. We were

:55:13. > :55:18.running tall way out here. It was very exciting. We know you've got a

:55:18. > :55:21.pedigree obviously in business and tennis but we didn't know about the

:55:21. > :55:26.racing. You are from Berkshire? am from Berkshire and I have been

:55:26. > :55:31.here a lot. As an 18-year-old I came in with my friends would have

:55:31. > :55:36.a few drinks. Now I'm lucky enough to be up here suited and booted and

:55:36. > :55:40.having a few glasses of champagne. Time's changed. And you are here

:55:40. > :55:46.with your family today? I'm here with my lovely mum, Eileen, she's

:55:46. > :55:53.80 and my dad, who is 8. My mum had a winner on the first race. She was

:55:53. > :55:59.dishing the money out, giving my dad 20 and keeping the rest.

:55:59. > :56:03.might be thinking I'm tall, because Peter is tall, but I'm doing a

:56:03. > :56:07.reverse Clare and Willie. Peter, lift up your trousers. There they

:56:07. > :56:11.are, the famous stripey socks. We are looking at all the fashion.

:56:11. > :56:15.You've got your own fashion line? have. It is weird really but more

:56:15. > :56:19.of a smart fashion line. The stripey socks I've been wearing as

:56:19. > :56:25.a kid and they are doing well. Now I'm starting to do cuff links. They

:56:25. > :56:32.are a bit bling but I like them. And shirts and ties. A man of style.

:56:32. > :56:37.I.. -- a man of style. I would like to think. So coming to Ascot, you

:56:37. > :56:42.see all these amazing outfits - the good the bad and the indifferent.

:56:42. > :56:45.They are trying to smarten it up this year. Obviously you are

:56:45. > :56:51.incredibly busy but you recently launched something amazing for kids.

:56:51. > :56:56.Tell us about the enterprise. launched an enterprise academy. I

:56:56. > :57:00.developed an enterprise curriculum and we've now got 35 colleagues up

:57:00. > :57:04.and down the country, the Peter Jones Academy. We had a final

:57:04. > :57:08.yesterday with all the kids coming in and pitching. It was really

:57:08. > :57:12.emotional to see their journey and see how important it is to them. It

:57:12. > :57:16.is something really close to my heart and it is really working.

:57:16. > :57:21.are next to Denis Wise. I think everybody here backed the same

:57:21. > :57:26.horse didn't they? Cheers went up. The atmosphere was magnificent.

:57:26. > :57:30.Have you got anything in the next one? I haven't actually, but I'm

:57:30. > :57:35.going with Derek Smith and John. They are the ones who get the tips.

:57:35. > :57:38.We need to ask your mum. Actually she does know. She is sitting over

:57:38. > :57:48.there. She's studying the form. She's the one. We are going to have

:57:48. > :57:54.

:57:54. > :58:04.a word with Mrs Jones. See As the runners go to post, let's

:58:04. > :58:04.

:58:04. > :59:15.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 41 seconds

:59:15. > :59:20.of horses taking -- with some connections of horses taking part

:59:20. > :59:23.in this. I read your Twitter account this morning and you were

:59:23. > :59:29.saying how nervous you were. This is a horse I know James has always

:59:29. > :59:33.thought a lot of. James has always liked Dimension. He was a little

:59:33. > :59:38.disappointing early last year and Kieren came and rode him here at

:59:38. > :59:43.the back end and he made all, which I doubt he'll be doing today,

:59:43. > :59:48.Johnny, but he won nicely. He's just gone on improving. He was

:59:48. > :59:52.gelded over the winter and we think that's been the making of him.

:59:52. > :59:57.Johnny and James have a great record at Ascot haven't they?

:59:57. > :00:01.Johnny likes riding James' horses when he says he should be on them

:00:02. > :00:06.and James obviously likes putting Johnny up. How are the nerves now?

:00:06. > :00:10.Pretty bad. I won't keep you any longer. Thank you very much. Off

:00:10. > :00:15.you go. Alan Shearer has a runner in the race. You will have seen him

:00:15. > :00:19.last night chatting away about a good day for England football.

:00:19. > :00:29.great day. Not many people said we could win the tournament but the

:00:29. > :00:38.

:00:38. > :00:43.further we two and the performance have to face Germany, if we win. My

:00:43. > :00:50.favourites. Nice and easy. I wish we didn't. You've got

:00:50. > :00:56.Justonefortheroad. Horse done well. Pretty well this season. It's won

:00:56. > :01:00.seven times, so we are lucky guys, those who own it. There are a lot

:01:00. > :01:03.of guys who never have winners and we've had seven. Great to be here.

:01:03. > :01:11.Royal Ascot in the sun. Tell us what happened at York, because you

:01:11. > :01:16.have won a couple. Was it a sign that it may be a bit harder?

:01:16. > :01:20.think so. We were told that after that we'll get to some great tracks

:01:21. > :01:28.but might not win too many, so we are happy to be here. What do you

:01:28. > :01:32.think of the horse? Very nice horse. What else can he say? He's bigger

:01:32. > :01:36.than me and don't forget how good he is with the head. Briefly, what

:01:36. > :01:43.was your paddock pick? I didn't have one. Too many of them. Thank

:01:43. > :01:53.you very much. You've been a great help. Alan, nice to see you. Cheers,

:01:53. > :02:12.

:02:12. > :02:17.I'm not surprised because he's supported by plenty, but a huge

:02:17. > :02:24.move for the gelding, who is trained by James Fanshaw. We'll

:02:24. > :02:28.look at Edinburgh Knight. Trained by Paul Darcy. This has been the

:02:28. > :02:32.plan. It certainly has. I really like this horse. To me, it smells

:02:32. > :02:38.of a plot, when you get a horse that is laid out and they tell you

:02:38. > :02:46.you can't win the previous race. This fella did that. Paul Darcy's

:02:46. > :02:52.not hiding the fact that he really holds this horse in high regard.

:02:52. > :02:56.There is Prince Of Johanne, the grey there. 50-1 winner in the

:02:56. > :03:01.Cambridgeshire last season and I'm pretty sure should be on the

:03:01. > :03:06.shortlist. Without a shadow of a doubt. John Fahy has had a lot of

:03:06. > :03:12.good runners. Tom has had good results on the flat too. This horse

:03:12. > :03:17.beaten last time. Huge field. Maximum field of 30 runners and

:03:17. > :03:27.difficult to get around them all. We'll try to pick out a few. You

:03:27. > :03:31.

:03:31. > :03:35.see Demention there down at the start. Absolutely fine. There,

:03:35. > :03:40.captain Bertie. William Carson, Willie's grandson on board. Indeed.

:03:40. > :03:48.Indeed. Willie, when I asked him about his grandson, riding a wen

:03:48. > :03:53.eer, he said, "-- a winner, he said, "I hope so. I'm not sure." They was

:03:53. > :03:58.fourth in the Spring Mile and won the Spring Cup at Newbury. The good

:03:58. > :04:04.ground should suit. I don't know how influential the draw is going

:04:04. > :04:12.to be. I suspect very. Kieren Fallon, here's a money coming in.

:04:12. > :04:16.He won this on Yeast and Caribbean Man ark. I saw George Baker here.

:04:16. > :04:24.Prior to this, racing in Dubai. This fella, much travelled, but the

:04:24. > :04:28.money is telling you something. thought Cai Shen looked

:04:28. > :04:31.particularly relaxed walking around the paddock. Big, honest head on

:04:31. > :04:35.this horse. Trained by Richard Hannon who is waiting for his first

:04:35. > :04:44.winner of the week. Second in the Britannia and second in the Winter

:04:44. > :04:47.Derby. Yes. He won at Doncaster on similar ground. I know they're

:04:47. > :04:53.hopeful. Richard Hannon senior looked disappointed, but pleased

:04:53. > :04:58.with his charges yesterday. Godolphin horses are running well.

:04:58. > :05:01.Particularly, I think, Farhh in the last race, really ran on and

:05:01. > :05:05.Bridgefield here is the ride of Mickael Barzalona, who is linking

:05:05. > :05:09.up so much with the horses trained by Mamood al-Zarooni. Another horse

:05:09. > :05:14.to come out of the York race. This horse ran well on that occasion.

:05:14. > :05:22.Like you say, have we seen the tide turn for Godolphin? It needs to.

:05:22. > :05:27.600 horses. It's been a bit too quiet. This is Bonnie Brae for

:05:27. > :05:34.David Elsworth and Ryan Moore. eye-catching jockey, because Ryan

:05:34. > :05:41.will have had the choice of several mounts. His agent is absolutely red

:05:41. > :05:45.hot. He had that big handicap winner yesterday. Dimension is

:05:45. > :05:49.going to go off favourite at 5-1. Dimension is going to be coming out

:05:50. > :05:55.of stall seven, so on the far side, as we look at them. Dimension is

:05:55. > :05:59.the big gamble. It's Frankie going forward on board inadvisable man,

:05:59. > :06:05.who won two years ago and runs well. He'll be up there again I suspect,

:06:05. > :06:09.but not too many more to go forward. 30 for Jim to get through. There's

:06:09. > :06:16.Johnny Murtagh on this heavily backed favourite, Dimension. Don't

:06:16. > :06:21.have the best of records. I can remember Bankable a few years ago

:06:21. > :06:26.for the Luca Cumani stable. Red-hot favourite. Going forward now is

:06:26. > :06:33.Excellent Guest, Tom Queally. There is Johnny. 30 runners here at the

:06:33. > :06:43.mile. A charge up the straight. Coming forward now. On the near

:06:43. > :06:51.

:06:51. > :06:56.side is Fair Trade. Just arms linked behind this one. Coming

:06:56. > :07:01.forward now. Prince Of Johanne nearest the camera. You can see

:07:01. > :07:11.that that stall's blanket is supposed to give the horse a little

:07:11. > :07:16.

:07:16. > :07:20.security and comfort and confidence, but it's not working at the moment.

:07:21. > :07:25.Fair Trade really doesn't want to know here. Darryll Holland is the

:07:25. > :07:35.rider. Now, they put the blindfold on as a last attempt to try to

:07:35. > :07:36.

:07:37. > :07:42.encourage this horse to come forward. He's almost in. They've

:07:42. > :07:48.got him now, I think. That's just about it. Fair Trade's in. They're

:07:48. > :07:53.set to go. Stand by. They're ready for the Hunt Cup. They're racing.

:07:53. > :07:59.Away to a fair start. One of the first aways with Brae Hill in the

:07:59. > :08:03.centre as they split into two and over on the far side we can see

:08:03. > :08:09.Boogy Shoes there and Arabian Star and up there too showing plenty of

:08:09. > :08:13.speed is Rock Critic. Just behind them follows Justonefortheroad.

:08:13. > :08:18.Also there as well as Boom And Bust on the near side, as we focus on

:08:18. > :08:23.Brae Hill up there. Now they seem to have converged, the two. On the

:08:23. > :08:27.near side Belgian Bill is not that far away and Capaill Liath showing

:08:27. > :08:31.speed. Trade Storm there and doupbt call me, but Brae Hill takes them -

:08:31. > :08:34.- Don't Call Me, but Brae Hill takes them along. Boom And Bust

:08:35. > :08:39.there. In behind them is Capaill Liath. Followed then by Trade Storm

:08:39. > :08:42.and they were followed then by Mull Of Killough and Rock Critic on the

:08:43. > :08:48.far side. Coming up the stands rail now, starting to make some ground

:08:48. > :08:53.here, as they come up now towards half-way. Steamy thunder getting

:08:53. > :08:58.through as they race up on to the course and they are all in the

:08:58. > :09:02.centre of the course. They are fighting it out. Capaill Liath

:09:02. > :09:07.there too. Now Prince Of Johanne coming there on the stands rail.

:09:07. > :09:11.Brae Hill out in the sent are. Don't Call Me and also Dimension --

:09:11. > :09:17.out in the centre. Don't Call Me and also Dimension. Don't Call Me

:09:17. > :09:22.and Dimension. On the near side, Excellent Guest and also Prince Of

:09:22. > :09:25.Johanne. Don't Call Me being grabbed by Prince Of Johanne.

:09:25. > :09:31.Prince Of Johanne going home best of all. Then Excellent Guest. In

:09:31. > :09:38.third then is Don't Call Me. Tight for fourth. Field Of Dream and

:09:38. > :09:45.inadvisable man. Cai Shen not that far away. A gap then to Stevie

:09:45. > :09:55.Thunder and Bonnie Brae. Going across the line is Bridgefield.

:09:55. > :10:01.Prince Of Johanne has got the money at 16-1. Ridden by John Fahy. The

:10:01. > :10:04.Cambridgeshire winner has now done it in the Hunt Cup. Two of the

:10:04. > :10:08.biggest handicaps in the calendar. Won it by half a length from

:10:08. > :10:16.Excellent Guest in second. Don't Call Me in third. In fourth on the

:10:16. > :10:20.stands rail, Field Of Dream. In fifth, inadvisable man. Sixth, Cai

:10:20. > :10:23.Shen and Stevie Thunder and eighth Dimension and Capaill Liath and

:10:23. > :10:30.tenth Man Of Action and they were followed by Belgian Bill on the

:10:30. > :10:35.near side, who was up there for a fair way. Captain Bertie showed

:10:35. > :10:37.pace. Abbackia not far away and Brae Hill, who was an early pace

:10:37. > :10:41.setter. Then Boom And Bust is further back. Edinburgh Knight

:10:41. > :10:46.never got into it. They were followed then by Rock Critic and

:10:46. > :10:52.King Torus and further back in the field then Bonnie Brae. Then full

:10:52. > :10:55.of Killough and then a gap to Justonefortheroad and then Fair

:10:55. > :11:01.Trade, the horse who played up before the start and delayed them.

:11:01. > :11:06.Boogy Shoes, who showed plenty of pace, then Common Touch and then a

:11:06. > :11:11.long gap to Arabian Star, who showed speed and coming some way

:11:11. > :11:16.behind them was Trade Storm, but there, no doubt about the winner,

:11:16. > :11:22.it is official and the winner is number eight, Prince Of Johanne,

:11:22. > :11:26.ridden by John Fahy. Trained by Tom Tate for David Story. Second is

:11:26. > :11:36.number 23, Excellent Guest, Tom Queally. Third number 30, Don't

:11:36. > :11:41.

:11:41. > :11:46.Call Me, Sam Hitchcock and Field Of Dream, ridden by Jamie Spencer.

:11:46. > :11:50.John and Tom a first. A first Royal Ascot with Prince Of Johanne, who

:11:50. > :11:54.we talked beforehand before. Horses have to be prepared for a big

:11:54. > :11:59.handicap like this and this horse was. Just one run so far this year.

:11:59. > :12:06.Turned up here and win it, job done. Thank you very much. Yeah. Indeed.

:12:06. > :12:10.A great day for John. There is no bigger stage for Royal Ascot. Just

:12:10. > :12:15.lost his claim. Only his 15th winner of the season. That will

:12:15. > :12:19.tell you how big a launch pad this will be. Lovely ride. Changes hands.

:12:19. > :12:23.Given the horse a little flick here and this horse as gone away and won

:12:23. > :12:31.well. At this stage you are desperate for the line to come.

:12:31. > :12:35.Exactly, because fast finishers like Jamie Spencer. Finishing

:12:35. > :12:39.really well there on Field Of Dream, who eventually is fourth. John Fahy

:12:39. > :12:45.has now ridden this horse four times and won on him three times,

:12:45. > :12:49.so it's a partnership that works. He has judged that really well,

:12:49. > :12:53.because it's a long way with that many runners. Absolutely. You saw a

:12:53. > :13:02.few of the horses that jumped smartly and they were burned off

:13:02. > :13:10.very quickly. Some bookmakers pay on the first five, so it's vital to

:13:10. > :13:17.note that number one, inadvisable man was fifth. -- Invisible Man,

:13:17. > :13:25.was fifth. The time was not that far out of the record. 1.08 outside

:13:25. > :13:30.the record. John has had success here before. Promising young rider.

:13:30. > :13:37.An enormous thrill for him. He comes back in. Prince Of Johanne,

:13:38. > :13:43.winner of the Cambridgeshire. That was new mark the over nine. That

:13:43. > :13:51.was the back end of the year, last September. Obviously a very able

:13:51. > :13:56.performer. You need a lot of luck and a lot of ability in these big

:13:56. > :14:03.fields and handicaps to win. Not only that, you need to be always a

:14:03. > :14:08.little bit ahead of the handicapper as well. On this occasion, Prince

:14:08. > :14:14.Of Johanne, he started from stall 33. Now if you are looking and you

:14:14. > :14:24.see there is only 30 runners, it's because the draw is done before the

:14:24. > :14:55.

:14:55. > :14:59.emergencies or the reserves are photograph taken about John Fahy

:14:59. > :15:09.and Prince Of Johanne, as Jim said, has completed a rare double, the

:15:09. > :15:12.Cambridgeshire and the Hunt Cup. It's rare that horses tend to go up

:15:12. > :15:17.in the handicap, but this horse has clearly got some more improvement

:15:17. > :15:22.to do or had some. Whether he'll go on from here is the new question,

:15:22. > :15:28.because he'll have to take on better company after this. Tom Tate,

:15:28. > :15:31.the gentleman standing in the top hat there. He's over to the left of

:15:31. > :15:35.the horse, or right depending on which side you are looking from,

:15:35. > :15:38.this is his first winner of the season. Tom, just saying your first

:15:38. > :15:45.winner of the season and couldn't have picked a better spot? I only

:15:45. > :15:48.train good horses, you know? good meetings? Yeah. Well, he's a

:15:48. > :15:54.grand horse now and he's a bit better over the mile. Showed a lot

:15:54. > :15:59.of speed to win the mile and won on the Cambridgeshire and his form's

:15:59. > :16:04.there. I was filling air time that it's a rare double, because it's

:16:04. > :16:12.difficult to win at the end of one season. 1949 it says in the paper,

:16:12. > :16:16.one of the pundits has put, so I thought it was a bit of a damp

:16:16. > :16:21.message. He has found improvement since Newmarket. Was that something

:16:21. > :16:28.you expected? Well, the mile suits him and the stiff mile and fast

:16:28. > :16:31.ground and John rides him well. He's a very good rider. Just before

:16:32. > :16:36.we have a word, can I ask you what plans you have, because now you

:16:36. > :16:41.have to take him into much better company than handicaps. We'll live

:16:41. > :16:45.for today. Let's live for today. Perhaps next year you can have

:16:45. > :16:51.another Royal winner with Prince Of Johanne. Well done. Even better.

:16:51. > :16:55.Thank you very much. John, your celebrations were enjoyable. You

:16:55. > :17:00.seemed to relish the success. Exactly. I remember a couple of

:17:00. > :17:04.years ago, even last season, I was watching these races at home, so it

:17:04. > :17:08.means an awful lot to someone young like myself to get a winner here.

:17:08. > :17:13.Your first Royal winner on a horse that means a lot to you as well,

:17:13. > :17:17.giving you some great days. Exactly. He's very close to my heart. He has

:17:18. > :17:21.given me the Cambridgeshire and the winner here. I can't tell which one

:17:21. > :17:25.is better to be honest. Tell me about the race, because for a

:17:25. > :17:28.moment they were split into two and those on the far side joined you.

:17:29. > :17:32.You were down in 33 close to the stand side. Do you think that was

:17:32. > :17:36.as much of a benefit as anything else? To be honest, I don't think

:17:36. > :17:43.so, because all the pace was on the far side. My lad, he likes to have

:17:43. > :17:46.a little space and just be running with you. When I won the

:17:46. > :17:51.Cambridgeshire I kicked him in the belly really soon, but today I have

:17:51. > :17:54.a big thanks to give to John Reid and Richard Quinn, because to be

:17:54. > :18:02.fair they've helped me out and given me some of their secrets of

:18:02. > :18:07.riding here. John, it's often said the best way to advertise yourself

:18:07. > :18:11.is to let your riding do the talking. Exactly. This is a very

:18:11. > :18:15.important, because I lost my claim last season. Clive Cox has been

:18:15. > :18:24.very, very good to me and Nicky Adams, so hopefully it's onwards.

:18:24. > :18:29.Well done. Thank you. presentation for the Cup being made

:18:29. > :18:36.by Her Royal Highness, the Countess of Wessex, wear colours similar to

:18:36. > :18:46.Prince Of Johanne's colours. The owners going up to receive that

:18:46. > :18:51.

:18:51. > :18:55.small Gold Cup. The double for the first time since 1949. There are

:18:55. > :18:58.always going to be unlucky stories in this. We are going to look

:18:58. > :19:06.Atfield of dream, because this was a field of nightmares for his

:19:06. > :19:10.supporters. He is going to come out of here. Or take his time and look

:19:10. > :19:15.for Sylvestre De Souza's horse, Man Of Action. From the stall up there,

:19:16. > :19:22.Field Of Dream, he doesn't want to come out. He missed it. He missed

:19:22. > :19:27.it completely. He ends up finishing fourth on this side. More of that

:19:27. > :19:30.later. The other horse, that missed the kick. It may be excusable,

:19:30. > :19:36.because some of the horses will have been there for a long time.

:19:36. > :19:41.Exactly. It's a fact of life. have to accept that. You get the

:19:41. > :19:49.horses that do get left. It's incredible how they've all started

:19:49. > :19:53.to go Oneway and then the other. They all end up congregating in the

:19:53. > :20:03.middle of the course. There is Field Of Dream, but we'll jump on

:20:03. > :20:07.40 seconds or so. Here's the closing stages. Here is the winner.

:20:08. > :20:12.Sorry, Field Of Dream. Dimension over there. As it turns out, ever

:20:12. > :20:17.chance, but doesn't have horses to go with him. He was on the far sigh.

:20:17. > :20:23.Come straight from the draw. He wasn't good enough. No excuses for

:20:23. > :20:29.him at all. The second horse is coming through there. He was never

:20:29. > :20:36.very far off the pace. Here you go. What's he doing down on this side.

:20:36. > :20:41.Now he has come down here and he has switched on the Turbo and

:20:41. > :20:45.finished so fast you would have thought if he had kept straight he

:20:45. > :20:50.might even have won. However, he has had the benefit of not being up

:20:50. > :20:53.there early on racing and relaxing, because he missed the break.

:20:53. > :20:58.didn't think they went that fast. It was a good gallop. Obviously,

:20:58. > :21:02.the way that horse is finishing, everybody is slowing down at the

:21:02. > :21:06.finish. They are. We have shown you it. It will be a lot shorter price

:21:06. > :21:10.next time out, but if he runs in the next ten days or so you might

:21:10. > :21:15.want to have a few quid on Field Of Dream. The one horse is Excellent

:21:15. > :21:24.Guest, because we are hearing he might be in the Buckingham Palace

:21:24. > :21:27.on Friday. So close. Such tight margins between victory and defeat.

:21:27. > :21:31.Even though he's so proud, he's gutted with the other. Two pounds

:21:31. > :21:35.too much. Mick, before you started as a jump jockey you worked in a

:21:35. > :21:41.couple of yards. Were you ever allowed to be travelling head lad?

:21:42. > :21:46.I did some travelling for John jenkins when he was stuck. I wasn't

:21:46. > :21:51.very good. Most of theing travelling head lands have been --

:21:51. > :21:57.most of the travelling head lads have been doing it for years. It's

:21:57. > :22:07.true of this lad, Jeff. This is his day yesterday, which started very

:22:07. > :22:07.

:22:07. > :22:11.early at the stables. I'm in charge of the horses from the time they

:22:11. > :22:17.leave to the time they get home. Give them the best chance to win

:22:17. > :22:27.the race and get them home in one piece. Englishman. Funk Soul

:22:27. > :22:30.

:22:30. > :22:34.Brothers. Red Jazz. Takes on Frankel. When you pack up to go

:22:34. > :22:38.racing, if you have the horse and the passport and the colours you

:22:38. > :22:48.can borrow everything else. Passports there. We'll pack them

:22:48. > :22:49.

:22:49. > :22:54.now. Just picking the three bridles I want to use. You've got to be

:22:54. > :22:59.dedicated. You spend a lot of tile on the road. -- time on the road.

:22:59. > :23:09.It doesn't suit most. You can be at Wolverhampton and Southwell or next

:23:09. > :23:10.

:23:10. > :23:20.day packing up to go to Hong Kong Oracle fornia. -- California. We'll

:23:20. > :23:44.

:23:44. > :23:50.get the horses loaded and get on here 30 minutes now. Settled in

:23:50. > :23:56.well. All travelled well, so lap of the Gods now. This is the saddling

:23:57. > :24:06.box. It's all the gear we need for when we saddle the horses. Next job,

:24:07. > :24:12.

:24:12. > :24:16.weighingroom, colours and declare. This is the jockeys' Changing Rooms.

:24:16. > :24:20.Drop the colours in there and go back and make sure everything is OK

:24:20. > :24:27.and get some lunch. Then it's time to get changed and get going for

:24:27. > :24:32.the afternoon. He looked like he could do something, but didn't get

:24:32. > :24:35.home. Disappointing, but live to fight another day. Pack the gear up

:24:35. > :24:45.and load up and an hour after these have run we'll be on the road back

:24:45. > :24:45.

:24:46. > :24:49.home again. All in a day's work, yeah. Terrific scenes here in the

:24:49. > :24:54.grandstand. On the lawns, people drinking and counting up their

:24:54. > :24:57.winnings and maybe their losses in some cases too. 20,000 capacity for

:24:57. > :25:03.the grandstand, but if you want something a little more exclusive,

:25:03. > :25:07.you can Upgrade this year. It's brand new, to the Furlong Club. A

:25:07. > :25:12.multi-level area with bars and you never know who you are going to run

:25:12. > :25:16.into. My Fair Lady. Let me introduce the one and only,

:25:16. > :25:20.Lorraine Chase. Lovely to see you. You know you lovely your racing.

:25:20. > :25:27.Well, I do and it's lovely to know they let the riff RAF in, so here I

:25:27. > :25:31.am. -- raff in, so here I am. It's joyous and as luck would have it,

:25:31. > :25:36.it's the best day. Very sunny and beautiful and nice, cool breeze, so

:25:36. > :25:42.not too hot. We saw you quite recently Inthejungle, with our

:25:43. > :25:48.Willie. Can you give us any secrets? I was looking forward to

:25:48. > :25:52.doing it. I had never watched it, but I did want to do a boot camp

:25:52. > :25:58.for my 60th birthday and people say to me did you learn anything and I

:25:58. > :26:02.said, yes, do your homework, because actually I never watched it,

:26:03. > :26:08.so - If you watched it, you wouldn't have gone on it, correct?

:26:08. > :26:13.I'm not sure I wouldn't. I do like the hardship. The psychology is a

:26:13. > :26:17.little harder to take, but I loved the hardship and the jungle. I like

:26:17. > :26:24.to be under that circumstance. about Willie, did he pull his

:26:24. > :26:31.weight? Oh, Willie was a blooming joy and for that small moment that

:26:31. > :26:35.I was his queen or his princess or whatever it was, yeah!!!! He's

:26:35. > :26:41.laughing. I've got to give him credit today because he gave me a

:26:41. > :26:47.tip that won. Willie, where was my tip? He's nodding. He'll give you a

:26:48. > :26:51.tip later on. Shall we look at some of the beautiful sights. Let's.

:26:51. > :26:58.Here's some of the scenes. Let's have a look. Nice-looking fella

:26:59. > :27:07.there. Wonderful colours, I have to say. I saw somebody earlier who was

:27:07. > :27:13.in bright pink. She looks lovely. There's a love. Very Kate.

:27:13. > :27:17.Beautiful. A lot of red. A lot of red with cerise, which actually one

:27:17. > :27:22.thinks doesn't go together, but actually it does. That's rather

:27:22. > :27:25.extraordinary. Personally, I think you should have a full hat if you

:27:25. > :27:30.are older, because it stops top lighting. Listen, why do you think

:27:30. > :27:37.I've got this perisher on for, because it stops total top lighting

:27:37. > :27:42.on a sunny day. My age, gout to be aware. Your top tip is to wear a

:27:42. > :27:46.full hat? If it's sunny. You got to think that sun is really high and

:27:46. > :27:51.unless you are very young and beautiful, any top lighting is

:27:51. > :27:55.going to drag, so I cover up. Lorraine, you are still beautiful.

:27:55. > :27:59.Bless you. You are very kind. Tomorrow, I don't think it is going

:27:59. > :28:03.to be sunny. If you are coming, probably bring a brolly. I think

:28:03. > :28:10.probably tomorrow is not the time to have a big hat. I think it's

:28:10. > :28:20.going to be a little windy. There you go. Fashion tips from Lorraine

:28:20. > :28:30.Chase. Darling, it's an absolute pleasure. I got a little tip.

:28:30. > :28:35.It's qup -- Jadana in the 5pm race. A friend of mine I was on the bus

:28:35. > :28:39.with today said when she was little she came to her first races and her

:28:39. > :28:43.mum said go on anything that's Irish and she went home with a

:28:43. > :28:47.pocket full of money, so what can I tell you. Frankie Dettori is the

:28:47. > :28:57.jockey, so it don't sound bet. going to sit with you and watch

:28:57. > :28:57.

:28:57. > :29:01.that. Thank you very much. Luck of the Irish. So many fillies in that

:29:01. > :29:06.fillies are Irish too. She is trained in Lincolnshire and has a

:29:06. > :29:15.very good chance. You were pleased to see Lorraine. She is one of the

:29:15. > :29:18.most gentlest people I've ever met. She is so gentle. You feel she is

:29:18. > :29:21.fragile and she is such a nice person. She is having a Loveday

:29:21. > :29:31.here and those that have come on the second day, this is what

:29:31. > :29:48.

:29:48. > :29:58.trained by an O'Brien. His first win had a sting in the tail because

:29:58. > :29:59.

:29:59. > :30:04.of a seven day ban because of use of the whip.

:30:04. > :30:11.William Buick described Joviality as tough and genuine as she came

:30:11. > :30:17.home in front in the Windsor Forest Stakes, beating Chachamaidee.

:30:17. > :30:22.One serious puntser had 100,000 even money on so. So this was the

:30:22. > :30:27.moment he knew he had collected double that. So You Think beat

:30:28. > :30:32.Carlton House to give Joseph O'Brien his first Royal Ascot

:30:32. > :30:39.winner. 30 horses in the Royal Hunt Cup and

:30:40. > :30:49.in front of them all was 16-1 shot Prince Of Johanne. The first horse

:30:50. > :30:50.

:30:50. > :32:14.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 41 seconds

:32:14. > :32:20.since 1949 to do the Cambridgeshire Andy, our speed man. I have to doff

:32:20. > :32:26.my cap. You picked the winner, Prince Of Johanne. To be fair he

:32:26. > :32:32.ran at work, ran a big race. I clocked all the horses on that

:32:32. > :32:37.three-day meeting. Two seconds quicker than anything else, so I'm

:32:37. > :32:46.thinking this form looks solid, Navajo Chief won at York, so that

:32:46. > :32:50.gave me a solid background for this horse. Well done you. How have you

:32:50. > :32:54.gone about this race? From a spread perspective what you are looking at

:32:54. > :33:00.is two-year-olds that have run akin to the older horses on the same

:33:00. > :33:04.card. If it is a strongly run race, and if the sectional times are good,

:33:04. > :33:09.that tells you we are dealing with high class horses. There are three

:33:09. > :33:16.or four that fit that criteria. What are they? Graphic Guest, who

:33:17. > :33:21.who is coming off a good time at Windsor. She's also had a run here

:33:21. > :33:24.at the track. The only horse that's had a course and distance win. I

:33:24. > :33:29.think putting two and two together that's a major positive. Anything

:33:29. > :33:35.else to look out for? The favourite, Mironica. A high class filly. Did a

:33:35. > :33:40.good run it's a Naas. She clocked the same time in the sectionals as

:33:40. > :33:44.Dawn Approach, which won here yesterday. If an older filly can do

:33:44. > :33:52.that as well as the colts, you are looking at a dent horse.

:33:52. > :33:56.A couple of different prices. Satsuma, finished second at

:33:56. > :34:02.Musselburgh, and I think the horse that beat it runs tomorrow, called

:34:02. > :34:08.Ahern. It is Graphic Guest for you? 8-1.

:34:08. > :34:14.That's a fairly solid each-way bet. You can't have two winners on the

:34:14. > :34:18.clock? They say a broken clock is right twice a day. A few of these

:34:18. > :34:23.fillies very much on their toes as the jockeys get the leg up and they

:34:23. > :34:27.realise it is time to go. Graphic Guest won a maiden on soft ground

:34:27. > :34:31.here an her second start and then had a decent performance to beat

:34:31. > :34:36.Hairy Rocket, who is in this race. How could you call a horse Hairy

:34:37. > :34:42.Rocket, a filly called Hairy Rocket! Graphic Guest beat her at

:34:42. > :34:46.Windsor last time. She's a big, strong filly. You picked her out.

:34:46. > :34:52.picked this one out in the paddock. Walking around, without looking at

:34:52. > :34:56.names, she it was one I picked out. It she's ran three times, had

:34:56. > :35:02.experience, won twice. The ground today is a bit firm. Her trainer

:35:02. > :35:08.has won this three times. He's now with Rishi. He's got a great record

:35:08. > :35:14.in this race. He was telling me a moment ago he tipped the winner on

:35:15. > :35:19.the Red Button last night. A lot to live up to. Yeah, he better tip my

:35:19. > :35:23.own then hadn't I? You got two, Graphic Guest and Jillnextdoor.

:35:23. > :35:27.They are both smashing fillies. I think they are both very good

:35:27. > :35:31.fillies. It is hard to split them. They are going to be different

:35:31. > :35:36.sides of the track. Pick on Graphic Guest first of all, she won a

:35:36. > :35:39.couple of races in smaller fields. Will she be alright in bigger

:35:39. > :35:44.fields today? She'll be alright. Across the course today anything

:35:44. > :35:49.could happen. I don't know how the horse is going to pan out, but who

:35:49. > :35:53.does? They are two of the best two- year-old fillies in the country. I

:35:53. > :35:59.will be disappointed if they are not in the first half dozen, both.

:35:59. > :36:05.You are teaming the up with your old sparring partner Craig Williams

:36:05. > :36:11.with Jillnextdoor? He rides a horse of mine in the Norfolk. I thought I

:36:11. > :36:21.would give him the practise, the cheeky one. Thank you. Not a

:36:21. > :36:21.

:36:21. > :37:05.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 41 seconds

:37:05. > :37:10.to the post for our final live race on BBC TV today. BBCi for the

:37:10. > :37:16.5.35pm race. You are learning English? Yes, it is hard but I try

:37:16. > :37:20.my best. We remember you from last year in the Derby and a Dubai World

:37:20. > :37:27.Cup winner. Big wins for you already. Yes, If it is a very good

:37:27. > :37:35.chance for me, a good horse. I'm very happy. Tomorrow, last year,

:37:35. > :37:41.you haven't got a Royal Ascot yet but last year you were second on

:37:41. > :37:47.Opinion Poll. Is he in good order? He's in good form. He tries hard

:37:47. > :37:56.all the time. I hope the best for tomorrow. OK. And English racing,

:37:56. > :38:04.is it good or is French better? no, it's good. Many in France is

:38:04. > :38:08.more tactic. OK. Here is... They go faster earlier here. Yes, go fast

:38:08. > :38:13.early, but it's a good chance for me for know everything in different

:38:13. > :38:18.country. Thank you for talking to us. Good luck tomorrow. We hope you

:38:18. > :38:22.get that first Royal Ascot soon. Thank you. I'm with Michael Owen

:38:22. > :38:27.who is associated with the Tom Dascombe stable and, of course,

:38:27. > :38:32.football. Tom's got two runners, Ceiling Kitty and Upward Spiral.

:38:32. > :38:37.You are involved in the ownership of Upward Spiral. A great pedigree,

:38:37. > :38:43.exciting filly. Yes, my partner, Andrew Black, owns Ceiling Kitty, a

:38:43. > :38:49.lovely filly. She's won a listed race. At home this one goes

:38:49. > :38:52.particularly well. Yeah, a group of us owned it before today. Qatar

:38:52. > :38:56.bloodstock bought it off us two weeks ago, so we still remain with

:38:56. > :38:59.an involvement today. We lose it in many ways in terms of ownership but

:38:59. > :39:03.it is great they are leaving it with our yard. That's fantastic.

:39:03. > :39:08.It's a difficult race to win, because obviously there's so much

:39:08. > :39:12.untapped potential, but you say she goes well at home. As Tom knows,

:39:12. > :39:18.good two-year-olds, has he given you impression she's good? Yeah,

:39:18. > :39:23.she's very good. She's as good, when you talk to him she's as good

:39:23. > :39:27.as he's ever train inside terms of fillies. He says she's the quickest

:39:27. > :39:33.filly he's trained, so we are hoping she is going to put up a

:39:33. > :39:37.good show. I must leave you and go to our betting site. A quick word

:39:37. > :39:41.on how you think England are getting on? We got through with

:39:41. > :39:46.flying colours. I'm particularly grateful to get Italy in the next

:39:46. > :39:50.round, even though it's going to be tough. It is far better than Spain.

:39:50. > :39:55.It's nice, a lot of people have said it is probably the toss of a

:39:56. > :39:59.coin who goes through, us or Italy. If you are playing Spain it would a

:39:59. > :40:03.tall order, but hopefully we can gain confidence and play a top team

:40:03. > :40:13.in the final and we'll be in a better position. We've had Shearer,

:40:13. > :40:19.

:40:19. > :40:22.owen and -- Owen and Shannon on the programme today. Good luck.

:40:22. > :40:28.Graphic Guest looks as good cantering as she did walking. She's

:40:29. > :40:33.getting a little keen. She looked short necked there but didn't look

:40:33. > :40:40.like that going round the paddock. She's tucking her head in there.

:40:40. > :40:44.The jockey looks very big. He is quite Taw though, Martin Harley.

:40:44. > :40:52.He's having a great season. The first classic success for Martin

:40:52. > :41:00.and the first in Britain or island for Mick Shannon. He's one of the

:41:00. > :41:07.stars that's come forward this year in the Jockeys' Stakes. This filly

:41:07. > :41:11.looks OK going to epost. Let's look at a few of the others. In the

:41:11. > :41:17.centre is Jadanna. This is the filly that Lorraine Chase tipped

:41:17. > :41:22.earlier and could give Frankie his first winner of the week. We were

:41:22. > :41:28.talking about how he is getting plenty of winners for outside

:41:28. > :41:34.trainers. She won a quick race in the Hillary Need ler, Stakes. She

:41:34. > :41:38.won that. The form of the race isn't quite good, but she's a very

:41:38. > :41:43.good quick filly. I would imagine she's going to run a very good race

:41:43. > :41:49.here for Frankie. You never know, might give Frankie a winner. Might

:41:49. > :41:57.This is the poor filly that's saddled with the name Hairy Rocket.

:41:57. > :42:01.You don't like that do you? I think it is disrespectful. The hair goes

:42:01. > :42:11.back when she rides fast. Richard Hughes has opted to ride Jubilee

:42:11. > :42:13.

:42:13. > :42:18.Diamond for Joe Wood, but I think this filly could - you never know.

:42:18. > :42:22.It is difficult to choose isn't it? The Hannon two-year-olds have been

:42:23. > :42:27.getting beat. They are not winning. They usually win at this meeting.

:42:27. > :42:37.They will be hoping one of their failies today will take the Hannons

:42:37. > :42:38.

:42:38. > :42:43.on the board. Mironica is our favourite 5-1.

:42:43. > :42:49.Not many more to go forward. We have a field of 2. Two-year-old

:42:49. > :42:55.fillies. They'll be flying down the fiver. She won at Naas, beat her

:42:55. > :43:02.stable companion, who was beaten by one of the Hannon fillies, so

:43:02. > :43:07.Richard Hannon, would have an idea where he's going. Only a few to go

:43:07. > :43:12.forward now. Graphic Guest, this was a few moments ago. There is

:43:12. > :43:18.Martin Harley in the stalls there. She just gets a little bit

:43:18. > :43:22.fractious. You can see from the stalls camera she wants to get down

:43:23. > :43:27.in the stall. That was a few moments ago. She's OK now. Madam

:43:28. > :43:31.Mojito is going to be the last to go forward. A big field here of 2

:43:31. > :43:36.two-year-old fillies. You don't often get this in the Queen Mary

:43:36. > :43:43.Stakes. They are ready. And they are racing!

:43:43. > :43:46.Away to a fair start. On the stands rail one of the first away. All Fur

:43:46. > :43:49.Coat going very fast. Madam Mojito is out there as well. Belle

:43:50. > :43:53.Intrigue not that far away. Sharaarah also in that group on the

:43:53. > :43:58.far side. Coming up the nearside it is Starlight Angel, who knows the

:43:58. > :44:02.wade. Up there too in the early stages Lady Phill showing plenty of

:44:02. > :44:07.dash. They are strched across the track. It is All Fur Coat on the

:44:07. > :44:14.far side, from Madam Mojito up there as well, as Satsuma, followed

:44:14. > :44:18.in fourth position by Ceiling Kitty. On the near side the group are led

:44:18. > :44:23.by Hairy Rocket, who is in company with Upward Spiral. Battling on is

:44:23. > :44:29.Miss Diva and Lasilia. On the far side it is Ceiling Kitty who shows

:44:29. > :44:34.the way from Satsuma. Also Jadanna. Hairy Rocket and now flashing home

:44:34. > :44:38.down the outside at 100 miles per hour Hoyam. But Ceiling Kitty gets

:44:38. > :44:41.the money from Hoyam in second. In third is Hairy Rocket, followed by

:44:42. > :44:46.Upward Spiral and jihad jafpltd further back in the field is

:44:46. > :44:52.Jillnextdoor, from Satsuma. They followed by Lasilia. On the stands

:44:52. > :44:58.side Miss Diva is there as well. One of the last to pull up is

:44:58. > :45:06.Modern Lady. But Ceiling Kitty in the colours of Burt Black and the

:45:06. > :45:11.master betters has won it for Tom Dascombe. Ridden by Richard

:45:11. > :45:15.Kingscote. Happy scenes in the enclosure. You heard what Michael

:45:15. > :45:18.Owen had to say before about Ceiling Kitty, a degree of

:45:18. > :45:21.confidence there. Certainly some encouragement. Ceiling Kitty has

:45:22. > :45:26.won the Queen Mary Stakes. The one that was flashing home was Hoyam

:45:26. > :45:32.down the stands rail. Came from nowhere. Hairy Rocket got third

:45:32. > :45:38.Fourth smile smile, in fifth was Jadanna. Lasilia ran a big race on

:45:38. > :45:43.the nearside. Forefollowed by Satsuma. Up the top of the screen

:45:43. > :45:51.Jillnextdoor was there for a long way. And Madam Mojito, who showed

:45:51. > :45:57.pace. They were followed next by Threes Grand. On the nearside next

:45:57. > :46:02.we see Miss Diva. And then at the top of the screen is Excellent

:46:02. > :46:06.Guest in company with Baileys Jubilee. Lady Phill not that far

:46:06. > :46:10.away. Mironica not sighted. Sharaarah was behind a wall of

:46:10. > :46:14.horses on the far side. Star Up In The Sky up in the sky is next. They

:46:14. > :46:19.were followed by Projectisle, who never got into it. All Fur Coat was

:46:20. > :46:26.showing pace but got weary. They were followed by Jubilee Diamond.

:46:26. > :46:29.Then Starlight Angel showed pace on the stands rail. Then Graphic Guest.

:46:29. > :46:34.Then Masarah. And then Melodee Princess. Then Ballesteros was

:46:34. > :46:38.about for the or Firth early, and then Modern Lady crossing the line

:46:38. > :46:46.next. The winner is number four, Ceiling

:46:46. > :46:56.Kitty, a filly by Red Clubs. Ridden by Richard Kingscote. Started at

:46:56. > :47:07.

:47:07. > :47:14.for Tom Dascombe. Ceiling Kitty has been a revelation. She has been so

:47:14. > :47:18.good for you Tom? Yeah. Not just for me but Andrew Black, who bred

:47:18. > :47:23.her. Awesome. Richard Kingscote, fantastic. He didn't exactly pick

:47:23. > :47:28.her. I think it was picked for him. He was pretty confident that she

:47:28. > :47:31.had experience and that she was hard as nails. She is. The other

:47:31. > :47:36.filly's run brilliant, but there's nothing in the race fast enough

:47:36. > :47:40.this side to lead her. Michael was saying that you said how good she

:47:40. > :47:45.was. I think upward spiral is the better horse, just not today.

:47:45. > :47:51.That's the way it goes, but I want to say this is all about Andrew

:47:51. > :47:56.Black. That's it really. He's been an amazing sport to -- support to

:47:56. > :47:59.me and to get a winner here is incredible. Andrew, your trainer

:47:59. > :48:02.was just singing your praises. He was saying what a fantastic

:48:02. > :48:07.supporter to the stable you've been and what a fantastic moment this is

:48:07. > :48:16.for you personally, because you've bred this filly too. It's my first

:48:17. > :48:20.proper home bred. I claimed the mother for 17 grand. I'm a bit

:48:20. > :48:24.speechless, I'm sorry. It's perfectly understandable. I was

:48:24. > :48:29.also told that a share in the filly was offered as part of a

:48:29. > :48:33.competition, is that right? I knew she was good, so I put half up of

:48:33. > :48:37.her on betfair for the year and they gave four eighth shares away

:48:37. > :48:42.in a competition. When I put her in I didn't know she was as good as

:48:42. > :48:45.she was, but when we found out I felt good, because at least they're

:48:45. > :48:49.getting a proper horse for their money. That's great. Four people

:48:49. > :48:52.here who have had an amazing experience. Both of you look like

:48:52. > :48:59.you are going through some enjoyable emotions at the moment.

:48:59. > :49:05.Is it possible to describe? I don't know. I feel very shaky. I don't

:49:05. > :49:09.know. I don't know what to say. Tom? Look, I mean, this is what

:49:09. > :49:15.it's all about, isn't it? I want to say a real big well done to the

:49:15. > :49:25.jockey as well. He's a real, good lad. He's brilliant. Well done.

:49:25. > :49:29.Thank you. Third Royal Ascot winner for Tom and Richard. They teamed up

:49:29. > :49:33.last year with brown panther and Rhythm Of Light. You can remember

:49:33. > :49:38.Michael Owen last year. The same for Andrew Black. The first he's

:49:38. > :49:42.bred and come out to win. He's got a scientific interest how he

:49:42. > :49:45.matches up stallions with mares and Andrew Black also the co-founder of

:49:45. > :49:52.betfair, so a man whose life has changed completely over the last

:49:52. > :49:56.ten or 12 years. Ceiling city, she hangs in the -- Kitty, hangs in the

:49:56. > :49:59.closing stages, but her time is amazing. It's just outside the

:49:59. > :50:05.record time for the five furlongs here, which if she had stayed

:50:05. > :50:09.straight she would have set a new record. Very possibly. Richard

:50:09. > :50:15.Kingscote, he should be thanking Hayley Turner, because Hayley made

:50:16. > :50:22.the pace on the far side and the pace of the whole race was way over.

:50:22. > :50:31.Look at Tom. Hats off, literally. They're enjoying that. Here is

:50:31. > :50:40.Michael watching this. The other filly's run well. Finished fourth.

:50:40. > :50:48.She is by Teofilo and she will be better over the distance. This

:50:48. > :50:54.winner, Ceiling Kitty is by Red Clubs. It has run four times. This

:50:54. > :50:59.is the fifth run of the season. So she knew how to do it and she got a

:50:59. > :51:03.good lead from All Fur Coat, which helped her to win and all the

:51:03. > :51:09.others horses, the second and third, they were drawn on this side of the

:51:09. > :51:12.track and they had a race, but the winner, as you said, Clare, if she

:51:12. > :51:18.had kept straight would have had a better time, but she was getting to

:51:18. > :51:22.the end of her tether. Fantastic time set by her. The ground

:51:22. > :51:32.quickening and she is having a nice big drink of water. Here's the

:51:32. > :51:49.

:51:49. > :51:53.red button. We'll bring you the Sandringham Handicap, the final

:51:53. > :51:57.race of the day. Willie, you were saying that Richard could win that?

:51:57. > :52:00.He's riding a nice filly here in the last race, that I was speaking

:52:00. > :52:08.to him about earlier on. He didn't know which of the two-year-olds

:52:08. > :52:13.were the best. He didn't get the choice of either, so - Switcher. So,

:52:13. > :52:18.tomorrow, just to cut you off. Switcher in the next race. Tomorrow

:52:18. > :52:24.we are on air at 1.45pm. Our feature race is the oldest race of

:52:24. > :52:29.the whole meeting. The Gold Cup. What wins that? Oh, good question.

:52:29. > :52:34.You know, because you've got Fame And Glory, would be the horse you

:52:34. > :52:40.would have to think would win, but there's another Irish horse of John

:52:40. > :52:45.Oxx's coming over something Rock. Sadler's Rock? Very, very nice

:52:45. > :52:49.horse. You can join us for that from 1.45, but if you can't get

:52:49. > :52:55.enough and you want to see whether Richard can follow up in the last

:52:55. > :52:59.then press the red button. From all of us here at Royal Ascot on day

:52:59. > :53:03.two, where So You Think charged home for his tenth Group 1 success

:53:03. > :53:13.to takes the Prince of Wales and give Joseph O'Brien a debut success,

:53:13. > :53:33.

:53:33. > :53:37.we wish you goodbye and good Summer breeze, make me feel fine

:53:37. > :53:47.# Blowing through the Yasmin in my mind

:53:47. > :53:52.
