:00:57. > :01:01.It is a glorious setting, the most impressive Grandstand in Europe.

:01:01. > :01:07.This is Ascot, and this week at Royal Ascot we have the best horses

:01:07. > :01:12.in the world meeting here to do battle, 30 races over the five days.

:01:12. > :01:17.It is a sensational occasion, and we'll have crowds of up to 300,000

:01:17. > :01:21.coming to enjoy it. The theme of celebration and jubilation very

:01:21. > :01:25.much in the air over four kilometres of burnting is bedecking

:01:25. > :01:30.the racecourse. Crowds arriving from early this morning to enjoy

:01:30. > :01:35.their picnic lunches. Many of them coming by train. The railway line

:01:35. > :01:38.came to Ascot for the first time in 1856 and made the racecourse

:01:38. > :01:43.accessible to the masses. Everyone here, those in the Royal Enclosure,

:01:43. > :01:47.in their finery. A very strict dress code. Style is of the essence.

:01:47. > :01:51.You will see Union Jack flags all over the place as well. And for so

:01:51. > :01:55.many, this is a week of entertainment and enjoyment. People

:01:55. > :01:59.saving up to make sure that they can make this day, if they are

:01:59. > :02:03.coming for one day, really special. For those here all week it is a

:02:03. > :02:09.terrorist of stamina as well as a test of your brain as you try to

:02:09. > :02:16.work out what with win over these fabulous races. Over 4. A million

:02:16. > :02:22.is on offer over the week. -- 4.5 million is on offer over the week.

:02:22. > :02:32.For the lucky few it will end in glory.

:02:32. > :02:41.You dream of it as a kid. All you can concentrate on is the clock.

:02:41. > :02:49.The countdown. Have I dreamed this dream before? Did I just imagine

:02:50. > :02:57.this place? Shadows of past greats begin to lengthen. Memories of

:02:57. > :03:07.glory days gone by echo around these halls. Just how will I make

:03:07. > :03:15.my mark? For 300 years we have descended upon this holy ground.

:03:15. > :03:25.This heartland of racing and majesty. This place doesn't shout

:03:25. > :03:28.

:03:28. > :03:33.aloud to you. It whispers, with grace. When I journey to the line,

:03:34. > :03:43.will I be able to block out the screaming crowd? Forget the

:03:44. > :03:47.

:03:47. > :03:53.millions at stake? Make no mistake, there is no way on earth -- nowhere

:03:53. > :04:03.on earth quite like this place. This meeting of dreams, this Royal

:04:03. > :04:03.

:04:03. > :04:08.Ascot. This is not just a sporting event, it's a culture... Five days

:04:08. > :04:12.of racing coming up... This meeting is made of dreams and that was the

:04:12. > :04:21.first dream for me. This is one of the biggest and best days anywhere

:04:21. > :04:26.in the world. Scintillating and sensational!

:04:26. > :04:30.And for some, including Luke Nolan, who will ride Black Caviar on

:04:30. > :04:36.Saturday and gets his first taste of Royal Ascot today in the King's

:04:36. > :04:43.stand on Medicean Man it is a real test of temperament. Frankie

:04:43. > :04:47.Dettori has more to prove than ever before. 45 Royal Ascot win Esso far,

:04:47. > :04:55.making the most capable and successful of jockeys, but Mickael

:04:55. > :05:00.Barzalona is breathing down his neck in the Godolphin car.

:05:00. > :05:05.Johnny Murtagh has been leading jockey here four times and is

:05:06. > :05:09.extremely capable. Richard Hughes came so close to taking the title

:05:09. > :05:15.last year. Hayley Turner bidding to become the first female jockey to

:05:15. > :05:20.win since 198. Tom Queally's nerves are fine. He will get the leg-up on

:05:20. > :05:24.Frankel, as he has done in all the last ten races with this horse.

:05:24. > :05:30.They are building up a fantastic partnership. England against

:05:30. > :05:36.Ukraine in the football Championships tonight. David Seaman,

:05:36. > :05:40.the goalkeeper, there. And Michael Owen, he lovers the game. Mick Shan

:05:40. > :05:48.shone, now a successful trainer. He has big chance this is and is

:05:48. > :05:53.having a great season Wider sports, Sally Gunnell is presenting

:05:53. > :05:58.trophies for the Queen Anne Stakes. And here is the man who may well be

:05:58. > :06:03.accepting that trophy - Henry Cecil, man that Willie Carson and I expect

:06:03. > :06:08.to be saluting. Good afternoon. to you. Feet are lovely again.

:06:08. > :06:12.are all in our finery for you at home. We've tried very hard. We've

:06:12. > :06:17.got the most marvellous day's racing you will ever see in your

:06:17. > :06:23.whole life. You just stopped me bigging you up. I was going to say

:06:23. > :06:27.a man who has risen 56 Ascot winners, what is it ma that makes a

:06:27. > :06:31.jockey good around Ascot and who, in your opinion, is the best in

:06:31. > :06:35.that changing room? It takes experience and it is riding good

:06:35. > :06:42.horses. Get yourself riding for the right stable, of course. Nowadays

:06:42. > :06:47.it is Aidan O'Brien who is the right person to be riding for or

:06:47. > :06:56.Henry Cecil. It is interesting because Joseph oh Bryn is favourite

:06:57. > :07:02.to be leading jockey this week - Joseph O'Brien. I'm sure he will

:07:03. > :07:06.ride more than one winner. We've got such a lot of good horses all

:07:06. > :07:10.week here. It is absolutely the most... I don't think I can

:07:10. > :07:15.remember going into a Royal Ascot meeting and thinking about all

:07:15. > :07:21.these good horses that we are going to see this week. We have got the

:07:21. > :07:27.top-rated, two top-rated horses in the world in our first races.

:07:27. > :07:37.Frankel, rated 136, and then you've got black black, who is rated 132.

:07:37. > :07:41.So we've got the most marvellous horses in the world. -- Black

:07:41. > :07:45.Caviar. He is right. Frankel is starting the meeting and Black

:07:45. > :07:51.Caviar is finishing it off. For many people coming here it is about

:07:51. > :07:56.showing off your finery. With her eyes firmly fixed on that, here's

:07:56. > :08:02.Suzi Perry. Obviously there's huge excitement about the race card this

:08:02. > :08:06.week but I'm on Ascot High Street, where there has a buzz away from

:08:06. > :08:10.the equine talent. Royal Ascot is one of the high on the social

:08:10. > :08:16.calendar and this year it looks more glorious than ever,

:08:16. > :08:24.celebrating the Diamond Jubilee. This week they've hit the headlines

:08:24. > :08:31.with theirry advised fashion rules, so if you do come along and make a

:08:31. > :08:36.fashion Foulkes pass, don't worry. Join me for a few cheeky glasses of

:08:36. > :08:40.champagne and all the non-racy bits. The one thing we can't control is

:08:40. > :08:44.the weather. Temperatures are expected to go up to 22-23 today.

:08:44. > :08:48.It is very nice indeed. And that means horses will look their best

:08:48. > :08:58.as well. Their coats will be gleaming. This is what we have

:08:58. > :09:05.

:09:05. > :09:08.lined up for you on Dale one of This week Her Majesty will lead the

:09:08. > :09:12.Royal Procession on every day of Royal Ascot.

:09:12. > :09:19.The equine spotlight today falls on the phenomenal Frankel. He's won

:09:19. > :09:24.ten races in a row. Can he make it 11 in the opening race, the Queen

:09:24. > :09:30.Anne Stakes? Frankel gets it off to a flyer and

:09:30. > :09:34.it cull mainates with the wonder mare, Black Caviar. She lines up in

:09:34. > :09:39.the Diamond Jubilee on Saturday. We take the opportunity this week

:09:39. > :09:43.to go behind the scenes in a number of yards. We start with rookie

:09:43. > :09:48.trainer Charlie Hills, who has his first Royal Ascot runners this week.

:09:48. > :09:52.This is a sporting event like no other, because of the fashion and

:09:52. > :09:58.the high style. People-watching is a sport, you know.

:09:58. > :10:07.All of the race this is week will be live on BBC One, BBC Two or on

:10:07. > :10:17.BBC Interactive, kicking off at 2.30 with Fal in the Queen Anne.

:10:17. > :10:32.

:10:32. > :10:36.The official ground is good to soft but the feeling here is with the

:10:36. > :10:41.sun beating down and a slight breeze it will dry out through the

:10:41. > :10:51.afternoon. Anyone who has worked it is saying the course is in a

:10:51. > :10:52.

:10:52. > :10:58.perfect condition. One non-runner in the Coventry Jubilee Brig -- in

:10:58. > :11:02.the Coventry - Jubilee Brig. An exciting way to start the

:11:02. > :11:07.meeting. Frankel and his brother, Bullet Train. Bullet Train will be

:11:07. > :11:12.the pacemaker for Frankel in the opening race, the Queen Anne Stakes.

:11:12. > :11:19.About a year ago Frankel was a buzzy type but they have done a lot

:11:19. > :11:24.to get him settled. There's a lot of noise from the road to the

:11:24. > :11:29.stables. There's Bullet Train. But here he is, the magnificent Frankel.

:11:29. > :11:33.Unbeaten, ten out of ten so far. He looks in great shape. He is the

:11:33. > :11:40.best horse in the world. He looks in complete control of the moment.

:11:40. > :11:50.If you were a jockey you would be very excited about riding him today.

:11:50. > :11:50.

:11:50. > :12:00.Tom Queally is. He spoke to Mick Fitzgerald erl dump duffer earlier

:12:00. > :12:01.

:12:01. > :12:08.today. Are you nervous Tom? No. Newbury he looked to be the most

:12:08. > :12:16.eye-catching performance. I suppose so, on he went. Do you ride the

:12:16. > :12:21.race in your head over and over, plan A to C? Not really. What

:12:21. > :12:25.happens if plan A or B don't work? Then there's C. Play it by ear and

:12:25. > :12:29.see what happens. He's the best horse in the race. Everybody knows

:12:29. > :12:35.it. We'll see how it goes and hopefully he will win very well.

:12:35. > :12:41.Does it get harder to ride him after each big win, or easier?

:12:41. > :12:46.Easier if anything. I developed that belief in him, so it sort of

:12:46. > :12:51.gets easier. Plus to get to know him more. Is he a complex

:12:51. > :12:57.character? Not really, just keep him relaxed beforehand. That's the

:12:57. > :13:01.biggest job. He is getting cleverer as time goes on. It is amazing for

:13:01. > :13:05.a horse with so much ability, normally they have their quirks and

:13:05. > :13:12.pull up and things like, that but he doesn't. He grabs the bit and

:13:12. > :13:17.wants to go. He's straightforward in that respect. And breeders all

:13:17. > :13:23.through their lives try to come up with the perfect racehorse. They do

:13:24. > :13:29.that by selecting the right mare and then you cross your fingers and

:13:29. > :13:36.hope. For Prince Khalid Abdullah, who owns him, having had great

:13:36. > :13:43.horses all his life, Dancing Brave, and Oasis Dream, this is the best.

:13:43. > :13:47.He is by Galileo, a champion sire. Great temporaryment. It is that

:13:47. > :13:51.combination of speed and the stamina that produces the miler in

:13:51. > :13:54.the world who will definitely stay a mile Andreas quarter at York.

:13:54. > :13:59.really looking forward to this horse over a mile and a quarter.

:13:59. > :14:03.That possibly is when we will see the real, true champion that

:14:03. > :14:08.Frankel is. Over I think they are still running them over a mile,

:14:08. > :14:16.because they've just, it is quite easy for them. When he gets to the

:14:16. > :14:19.mile and a quarter he will be able to use that long stride, that easy-

:14:19. > :14:24.going fluid action and flow over the ground. Horses are going to be

:14:24. > :14:29.huffing and puffing a long way out when he gets over the mile and a

:14:30. > :14:33.quarter. Today he is running over a mile. He is possibly beaten all the

:14:33. > :14:37.horses that he's running here against before. He's beaten them a

:14:37. > :14:41.long way. It is so interesting to see him without the saddle on. You

:14:41. > :14:46.can appreciate where the mustle proportioned in him and what a

:14:46. > :14:51.compact horse he is. He is not pretty. Isn't he beautifully

:14:51. > :14:54.proportioned? Well, he is the top- rated horse in the world. We can't

:14:55. > :15:00.criticise him. This is what you want to be breeding. This horse

:15:00. > :15:06.goes faster than any other horse. He's also strength. There is, where

:15:06. > :15:13.you look at him, even his forehead, his ears, look everywhere, it tells

:15:13. > :15:18.you strong. Everything about him is strong. He's not, his walking

:15:18. > :15:22.action is not fantastic. It is nice, but it is not really long and

:15:22. > :15:27.fluent and elegant. When he gets galloping he gets lower and lower

:15:27. > :15:30.to the ground. This horse just floats along the ground. It's the

:15:30. > :15:34.same with Black Caviar. She's very similar.

:15:34. > :15:38.When you see them galloping, they don't seem to be doing anything but

:15:38. > :15:48.they are going faster and easier than all the other horses. It is

:15:48. > :15:50.

:15:50. > :15:53.just in their action. A this guy, His only fault in the early years

:15:53. > :15:57.was almost being too fast for everything in the race? Yes, he was

:15:57. > :16:01.too exuberant in his action. He was trying too hard. Tom Queally

:16:01. > :16:06.couldn't sort of control that in the early days. Those are the

:16:06. > :16:09.saddling boxes. That is where Frankel will have his saddle put on.

:16:09. > :16:14.Don't worry about the sweating between his hind legs, he has

:16:14. > :16:21.always done that. There is Sir Henry Cecil looking at his pride

:16:21. > :16:28.and joy. Sir Henry, knighted by Her Majesty

:16:28. > :16:32.the Queen. Exciting, isn't it? we mention that, look at this for a

:16:32. > :16:35.sight, the Royal Procession coming through the Golden Gates at the top

:16:35. > :16:41.through the Golden Gates at the top of the Straight Mile. That is where

:16:41. > :16:49.Frankel will be coming down at a much faster pace than this in just

:16:49. > :16:55.over half an hour's time. So many tune in to watch this. In the first

:16:55. > :16:59.carriage, we have Her Majesty the Queen and his Royal Highness the

:16:59. > :17:02.Duke of Edinburgh, happily recovered from his bladder

:17:02. > :17:09.infection that took him out of action for some of the Diamond

:17:09. > :17:15.Jubilee. He was home for his 91st birthday. The Queen and the Duke of

:17:15. > :17:23.Edinburgh are joined by the Chief Whip of the House of Lords. He is

:17:23. > :17:31.on the far side. And Lord Vesty, the chairman of Cheltenham

:17:31. > :17:38.Racecourse. The Queen will have entertained her

:17:38. > :17:44.guests at Windsor Castle. They will have had lunch there and then

:17:44. > :17:54.joined the carriages. In the second carriage, we have the Prince of

:17:54. > :17:57.

:17:57. > :18:07.Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. With them, Lord and Lady Irwin.

:18:07. > :18:11.

:18:11. > :18:18.James is the son of the Earl and Countess of Halifax.

:18:18. > :18:22.A great thing for them to enjoy. In carriage three, we have Princess

:18:22. > :18:29.Eugene, the younger daughter of the Duke of York, waving and smiling

:18:29. > :18:35.there. With her, The Duchess of Gloucester. Opposite them, the Duke

:18:35. > :18:45.of Gloucester and Mr Philip Mitchell.

:18:45. > :18:52.

:18:52. > :19:02.In the final carriage, Viscountess Ullswater and Mr and Mrs Peter

:19:02. > :19:10.

:19:10. > :19:20.Velon. He owns New Zealand thoroughbreds and spons Mark --

:19:20. > :19:21.

:19:21. > :19:28.So a fabulous sight. They will start to hit the crowds in a moment

:19:28. > :19:33.or two as they come past the Silver Ring. At the moment, everybody is

:19:33. > :19:39.looking at the big screen. Willie, you know how much the Queen

:19:39. > :19:45.understands about racing? Yes, she loves her racing and she loves

:19:45. > :19:50.coming to Ascot. She actually has a piece in the programme. She would

:19:50. > :19:54.like to thank you for the welcome "my family and I have always

:19:54. > :20:03.received at Royal Ascot and to wish you all the most an enjoyable day"

:20:03. > :20:08.- that is from Her Majesty. Not me, you mean everybody? No. She is a

:20:08. > :20:15.great supporter of horse racing, a great breeder herself. She's a

:20:15. > :20:18.person who loves this week to come to Royal Ascot and then, as you

:20:18. > :20:22.were saying earlier about Frankel, the breeders, she will stay in the

:20:22. > :20:28.paddock after she arrives here. She will cast her eye over Frankel

:20:28. > :20:33.thinking about which mare she will be sending to Frankel next season,

:20:33. > :20:39.if he retires that is. The Queen has had 20 Royal Ascot winners, the

:20:39. > :20:44.last of them was in the Chesham Stakes, Free Agent winning. Have

:20:44. > :20:54.you ridden a Royal Ascot winner for the Queen? I rode a Royal Ascot

:20:54. > :20:55.

:20:55. > :21:05.double in 1979 on Expansive and Buttress in the Queen's Vase. I was

:21:05. > :21:09.

:21:09. > :21:14.lucky enough to be doing it for her, trained by Major Dick Hearn. This

:21:14. > :21:17.Royal Procession dates back to 1825, King George IV was the man who

:21:17. > :21:27.started it with his invited guests and the people that were staying

:21:27. > :21:29.

:21:29. > :21:33.with him. Queen Victoria came in 1838. After Prince Albert died, she

:21:33. > :21:41.didn't come back again to Ascot after 1861 so there was no Royal

:21:41. > :21:46.Procession for quite a while then. The Queen in her 60 years has

:21:46. > :21:51.embraced the sport that she has enjoyed since she was a teenager

:21:51. > :21:58.and first came here to Ascot in 1945 when she was 19-year-old as

:21:58. > :22:02.Princess Elizabeth. The Windsor greys leading the procession here.

:22:03. > :22:07.It's just the most extraordinary sight, isn't it? We are in 2012 and

:22:07. > :22:13.people can fly into space and this represents so much about history

:22:13. > :22:19.and tradition that you don't find it in other countries? We have been

:22:19. > :22:24.doing this sort of thing for 400 or 500 years in this country. We have

:22:24. > :22:28.a lot of tradition and this is one of the great traditions that has

:22:28. > :22:32.been upheld here at Royal Ascot with Her Majesty doing the same

:22:32. > :22:36.thing year in, year out. It doesn't matter if it was pouring with rain,

:22:36. > :22:41.she would still come down the course in the open carriages, maybe

:22:41. > :22:47.with an umbrella. They still come in open carriages. As you said,

:22:47. > :22:52.what a great sight to see Her Majesty. Isn't it great to see the

:22:52. > :22:57.Duke of Edinburgh waving to the crowd there after - I felt sorry

:22:57. > :23:01.for them - I was watching it on television when they were doing the

:23:01. > :23:06.Parade along the river. They stood there for four hours, standing on

:23:06. > :23:11.their feet. We have to do it here, but standing there for four hours

:23:11. > :23:17.in the pouring rain was a great feat for them both to have done.

:23:17. > :23:27.Thank you very much indeed. We will hear the National Anthem played by

:23:27. > :23:34.

:23:34. > :23:44.the Band of the Guards. They were The carriages are coming by the

:23:44. > :24:12.

:24:12. > :24:21.Silver Ring and you will see the # God save our gracious Queen,

:24:21. > :24:30.# Long live our noble Queen, # God save the Queen

:24:30. > :24:40.# Send her victorious, # Happy and glorious,

:24:40. > :25:01.

:25:01. > :25:04.# Long to reign over us The Band of the Coldstream Guards

:25:04. > :25:07.playing the National Anthem. The Royal Procession turns left and

:25:07. > :25:11.heads underneath the tunnel into the grandstand and it will head

:25:11. > :25:18.into the paddock. There are hundreds of people around the

:25:18. > :25:22.paddock. It is a fabulous amphitheatre and was built with the

:25:22. > :25:25.Royal Procession in mind. A lovely shot of the Prince of Wales after

:25:25. > :25:32.whom tomorrow's feature race is named. It could be won by the Queen

:25:32. > :25:39.because she has Carlton House in the line-up. She has a big chance.

:25:39. > :25:49.He has to improve. You were talking about the crowd. I'm sure the Queen

:25:49. > :25:50.

:25:50. > :25:55.can pull more people around the paddock than Frankel can. Today,

:25:55. > :26:05.they get both. The Queen had a winner last night at Warwick.

:26:05. > :26:15.was an Oaks. Yes. Congratulations, ma'am. The Queen is wearing a pale

:26:15. > :26:26.

:26:26. > :26:30.blue woollen silk dress and coat by It's the practicality of the hat as

:26:30. > :26:37.well as the style of it that is important, particularly coming down

:26:37. > :26:42.here. Talking about hats, Clare, how about yours? Thank you. Do you

:26:42. > :26:52.like it? Yes. Thank you. I think the Duchess of Cornwall has a

:26:52. > :26:58.

:26:58. > :27:05.fabulous hat on as well. We are APPLAUSE

:27:05. > :27:11.Another three cheers as well! It is like a three cheers version

:27:11. > :27:16.of a Mexican wave! LAUGHTER Don't we do - we British, don't we do it

:27:16. > :27:22.well? Isn't this fantastic? There's not many other countries you could

:27:22. > :27:28.go to and get a pageant as grand as this. This is really lovely to see

:27:28. > :27:38.those grey horses, well turned out, everybody spruced up, and nothing

:27:38. > :27:38.

:27:38. > :27:44.goes wrong. Oops - I said that and a strap broke! Do you know, I

:27:44. > :27:48.bumped into some people an hour ago who were making their way to the

:27:48. > :27:58.paddock to make sure they got their seats for the Royal Procession so

:27:58. > :28:02.they could see it clearly. We do expect the Royal Party will remain

:28:02. > :28:06.in the paddock and wait for the horses to come in for our opening

:28:06. > :28:12.race, the Queen Anne Stakes, named after the monarch who founded Ascot

:28:12. > :28:17.Racecourse in 1711. In those days, racing was different. Hunter-type

:28:17. > :28:24.horses, more like the horses you can see pulling the carriages, they

:28:24. > :28:28.were racing over four miles in legs, so they did three separate heats.

:28:28. > :28:35.Years ago, they used to do that. They used to go very steady. They

:28:35. > :28:45.used to hack, canter around and then sprint finishes. Most of these

:28:45. > :28:46.

:28:46. > :28:51.horses, the Irish cob... Household Cavalry horses tend to be

:28:51. > :28:56.the ones. Some lovely shots of the Queen waving to the crowds. Those

:28:56. > :29:04.are the lift shafts for this amazing grandstand. They have been

:29:04. > :29:08.recovered in the Union Flag. The red, white and blue is everywhere.

:29:09. > :29:14.80,000 Union Jack flags have been handed out to race-goers. When you

:29:14. > :29:20.look at that grandstand, it has the largest number of private boxes of

:29:20. > :29:24.any sporting facility in Europe. 255 of them. It stretches all the

:29:24. > :29:31.way down to the right-hand side there and down the furlong, down to

:29:32. > :29:36.the furlong marker and beyond. Nearly 5,000 people can be

:29:36. > :29:42.accommodated in those boxes. This is the horse that everybody is

:29:42. > :29:49.waiting in the paddock to see. The Queen among those who want to see

:29:49. > :29:53.Frankel in the flesh. He's been saddled now by Sir Henry Cecil.

:29:53. > :29:58.Gently and slowly, he is walking around the Pre-Parade Ring. The

:29:58. > :30:02.carriages clear the paddock and that leaves the way clear for the

:30:02. > :30:06.racehorses to come in. A very different sight. Equally

:30:06. > :30:16.magnificent and exciting. You can feel the buzz for the entrance of

:30:16. > :30:18.

:30:18. > :30:24.I, hopefully they don't start clapping him. It is possible he

:30:24. > :30:30.might get clapped into the Arena or the paddock. Obviously if that does

:30:30. > :30:35.happen, it is not very good for the horse, because he doesn't

:30:35. > :30:40.understand that he's being clapped for what he's done in the past. He

:30:40. > :30:46.will be delivering in the present and wondering about all the noise.

:30:46. > :30:50.Doesn't he walk around there so easy and very relaxed. As he always

:30:50. > :30:57.does he has a lip chain which goes over the top of the gum, above the

:30:57. > :31:07.lip. And that's just for control is it? What it does iss horse calm. It

:31:07. > :31:09.

:31:09. > :31:14.releases the enfor fins and keeps the -- ondophins and keeps the

:31:14. > :31:17.horse relaxed. People could start clapping him and you have to be

:31:17. > :31:21.prepared. Henry Cecil has to be prepared for everything with this

:31:21. > :31:25.horse, because he is a superstar. There is going to be a lot of

:31:25. > :31:29.cameras. There is going to be a lot of people want to get close to him.

:31:29. > :31:34.Most of the people in racing want to give this guy a pat on the neck.

:31:34. > :31:39.Everybody wants to be close to him. And the closest person to him is

:31:39. > :31:44.the groom who leads him up. It is important as well for a horse, any

:31:44. > :31:49.horse, to have people around them that they know, voices that they

:31:49. > :31:55.recognise. See how slow the lad is walking him. That's fabulous,

:31:56. > :32:00.because that's keeping his heart rate down. The thing is, he knows

:32:00. > :32:08.he is going to race and his heart rate will start to rise going

:32:08. > :32:15.around the paddock. He will be entering the paddock shortly for

:32:15. > :32:19.the first of three Group 1 races, the Queen Anne Stakes. The point,

:32:19. > :32:23.Willie, is that for this horse, it is not about prize money but about

:32:23. > :32:28.extending the unbeaten run, taking on later in the year new challenges,

:32:28. > :32:34.stepping up to a mile and a quarter. I think Henry Cecil feels he

:32:34. > :32:42.doesn't want to let anybody down. He wants to take him to places

:32:42. > :32:47.where le is seen by the people. will see that later when he meets

:32:47. > :32:56.horses that have been around for years, older horses. Today, when he

:32:56. > :33:00.wins today, Tom Queally and Henry Cecil are just going to have the

:33:00. > :33:07.relief, because they'll be all churned up inside. There is so much

:33:07. > :33:12.pressure on them for it to go right. Can you imagine if it went wrong?

:33:12. > :33:17.There could be like anatomic bomb going off if this horse gets beat

:33:18. > :33:22.today. Everybody is waiting to see this horse gallop gracefully over

:33:22. > :33:27.the straight mile for the Queen Anne Stakes. We do expect him to

:33:27. > :33:32.win by three to four lengths. fact, and this is very, very

:33:32. > :33:36.welcome as a development, the horses coming into the Parade Ring

:33:36. > :33:43.in numerical order. Frankel is third behind Excelebration and just

:33:43. > :33:48.in front of Indomito. Look at the Weighing Room entrance, Clare. All

:33:48. > :33:53.the jockeys riding today have all come out to get a glimpse of this

:33:53. > :33:59.guy. The jockeys riding in the race are in the paddock today, but the

:33:59. > :34:04.others not riding, this rarely happens, it happens at Cheltenham,

:34:04. > :34:14.they are all coming to look at Frankel. And there is the guy who

:34:14. > :34:52.

:34:52. > :34:57.gets the closest view through his An absolute unbackable favourite

:34:57. > :35:02.here. Here to tell us about the betting for the first race of Royal

:35:02. > :35:07.Ascot 2012, here's John Parrott. Thank you Jim. What a way to start

:35:07. > :35:17.this fantastic festival, with officially the best horse in the

:35:17. > :35:34.

:35:34. > :35:40.Princess Anne there having a chat. The Princess Royal with Henry Cecil

:35:40. > :35:45.and Tom Queally. Ian Mongan there as well. He will be on board a

:35:45. > :35:49.Bullet Train, a three parts brother of Frankel. He will give a lead in

:35:49. > :35:56.the race itself. Princess Anne clearly having a detailed

:35:56. > :35:59.conversation there, I don't know what about, obviously, but about

:35:59. > :36:05.Frankel I would subject. The bell is going for the jockeys to get a

:36:05. > :36:10.leg up on board. That'slogical when Tom Queally can relax. Willie, when

:36:10. > :36:18.you get the leg-up do you switch into automatic? Sometimes when you

:36:18. > :36:25.get in the paddock you've got, well, the owner is not here today. Prince

:36:25. > :36:30.Khalid Abdullah is at the funeral of the Saudi Crown Prince. Saudi

:36:30. > :36:36.Arabia is in mourning at the moment. When you get in the paddock you've

:36:36. > :36:39.got nervous owners and sometimes the trainer, the owner, starts

:36:39. > :36:43.talking things they wouldn't talking things they wouldn't

:36:43. > :36:47.normally talk about. Let's look at a few of the horses hoping to push

:36:47. > :36:53.Frankel. Excelebration has done that every time. He keeps seeing

:36:53. > :36:59.the backside of Frankel at the moment. Every time Frankel has been

:36:59. > :37:03.in the field, Excelebration has been playing second fiddle to him,

:37:03. > :37:09.especially in the Lockinge. He's such a good horse, this. There are

:37:09. > :37:14.no other races he can go for, because he's a miler, so he has to

:37:14. > :37:19.take Frankel on all the time, with the same result. He is a very good

:37:19. > :37:24.horse. Every time Frankel doesn't run, he wins. Strong Suit is a top

:37:24. > :37:30.class horse as well and he's won at this meeting for the last two years.

:37:30. > :37:37.He won the Coventry as a two-year- old and the Jersey Stakes. He was

:37:37. > :37:43.third on his next start and then was sold to Qatar Racing. He run

:37:43. > :37:48.different colours. Richard Hannon trains him and Richard Hughes rides

:37:48. > :37:53.him. He ran in the breeder's Cup mile and was disappointing there.

:37:53. > :37:56.He hasn't won for 227 days. This is his first run of the year. The

:37:56. > :38:02.ground is drying out all the time. The ground we all thought was going

:38:02. > :38:06.to be soft, it is not. The ground today I think we are going to start

:38:06. > :38:11.off on the easy side of good. Strong Suit does prefer the ground

:38:11. > :38:16.to be on the fast side. I would think this ground is going to suit

:38:16. > :38:20.most horses. It is not going to go for a firm ground or a soft ground

:38:20. > :38:23.horse. It is interesting to assess what it is that makes this horse so

:38:23. > :38:33.what it is that makes this horse so good. We've had a brief

:38:33. > :38:34.

:38:34. > :38:39.conversation about his confirmation. Let's go to analysis team. Why is

:38:39. > :38:43.he so good? One can only quote Willie there, because he gets from

:38:43. > :38:53.A to B in the quickest time. This shows the transformation of the

:38:53. > :38:56.horse over the last 12 months. At horse over the last 12 months. At

:38:56. > :39:02.this stage, Tom Queally lets him go. He is a younger horse. Wants to get

:39:02. > :39:06.on with things. He is very exuberant on this day, hits the

:39:06. > :39:11.gate running. He ran with the choke out. A lot of people thought he was

:39:12. > :39:16.beatable on this performance. As the season progressed he looked

:39:16. > :39:22.more relaxed. You can see the pacemaker in this but he didn't

:39:22. > :39:26.need that. He is going. They said in the race they were going a five-

:39:26. > :39:32.furlong race. The jockeys chasing him are on the fancied horses. They

:39:32. > :39:37.know they can't allow this sort of animal this amount of rope. That

:39:37. > :39:42.was the 2000 Guineas last year, in May. Now to May this year and the

:39:42. > :39:49.Lockinge. Here he is behind the pacemaker and he's prepared to sit

:39:49. > :39:53.behind the pacemaker. This is the more mature Frankel. He could go

:39:53. > :39:58.even slower than this. Tom Queally is very much in control. This is

:39:58. > :40:02.the true Frankel we all know. This is how good he could really be.

:40:02. > :40:07.thought this performance at Newbury, the Lockinge, was one of his best

:40:07. > :40:12.so far centre Without a doubt. He was so smooth. As a jockey that's

:40:12. > :40:16.what you gant a race - smooth. Today he expect him to be less

:40:16. > :40:21.relaxed, or more relaxed, sorry, than he was at Newmarket last year.

:40:21. > :40:27.If you had to try, if you were riding, to try and beat him, is

:40:27. > :40:31.there anything cue do? The best of luck. OK. It looks like he is

:40:31. > :40:35.unbeatable. We are going to see this marvellous horse already on

:40:35. > :40:41.his way down to post. There's a parade for this race, being a Group

:40:41. > :40:44.1 race. They will parade in front of the stands in numerical order.

:40:45. > :40:48.Bullet Train leads the parade, with Ian Mongan on board. He is there to

:40:48. > :40:53.guarantee a decent pace, so that Frankel can relax and settle in

:40:53. > :40:57.behind. He is the lead horse on the gallops at home and does the same

:40:57. > :41:07.job here. Excelebration used to be trained by

:41:07. > :41:08.

:41:08. > :41:12.Marco Botti, now with Aidan O'Brien. Today Joseph rides.

:41:13. > :41:18.Here Frankel. Unbeaten in ten starts. A 10-1 on favourite. That

:41:18. > :41:26.means if you put on 10, you will only get 1 if he wins, because it

:41:26. > :41:34.is considered a virtual certainty. Number 4 is Indomito. Trained in

:41:34. > :41:38.Germany and ridden by William Buick. He would have a chance of getting

:41:38. > :41:43.placed. Premio Loco is a 50-1 shot for

:41:43. > :41:46.George Baker. He has a very good career record. 14 wins from 33

:41:46. > :41:50.starts. Red Jazz gives Charlie Hills his

:41:50. > :41:55.first Royal Ascot runner since taking over from his father, Barry.

:41:55. > :41:58.Michael takes the ride. Side Glance, trained by Andrew

:41:58. > :42:04.Balding. This horse won at Epsom last time U-turn.

:42:05. > :42:09.And in the first of the Qatar Racing colours, Strong Suit.

:42:09. > :42:12.Richard Hannon and Richard Hughes. My word he is a good horse on his

:42:12. > :42:18.day. Windsor Palace in the second

:42:18. > :42:23.colours for the Aidan O'Brien team, the Ballydoyle team. He would be up

:42:23. > :42:30.there, one would think, making the pace. He didn't do that in the

:42:30. > :42:35.Lockinge. Worthadd was disappointing at Epsom

:42:35. > :42:40.but he's a good horse. Frankie is riding Worthadd because Mickael

:42:40. > :42:46.Barzalona got the nod to take the ride on the Godolphin first string,

:42:46. > :42:51.and that is Helmet. Frankel is being pulled up and

:42:51. > :42:54.jogging now with Tom Queally. What a start to this meeting: we have

:42:54. > :43:01.the best racehorse in the world on official ratings. Frankel is going

:43:01. > :43:11.for his 11th win in a row to try to extend his unbeaten record.

:43:11. > :43:13.

:43:13. > :43:22.Forever we will Tales Of Grimms about how fast we could run.

:43:22. > :43:28.Stam na that never faltered. The power when he won.

:43:28. > :43:36.They will recall the time when they couldn't believe what they had seen.

:43:36. > :43:43.How he flew past the competition like a supreme being. And he

:43:43. > :43:51.conquered the world, it took only a second. We will say, we saw him.

:43:52. > :43:55.The best. The greatest. A legend. Frankel bidding to make his mark in

:43:55. > :43:59.terms of global sport. It is difficult for a horse to rise to

:43:59. > :44:02.the sort of attention and the profile that people have, because

:44:02. > :44:08.clearly they can't give inters. They can't pose for model shots,

:44:08. > :44:13.but this horse, my word, he has a presence and an aura about him. A

:44:13. > :44:18.style of race is incredibly exciting to. Everybody here just

:44:18. > :44:23.tingling I think at the prospect, Willie. You say he will win by four

:44:23. > :44:30.lengths. I think the betting market agrees with you. He is going off a

:44:30. > :44:39.very short price fafrpt let's join John Parrott. Is anyone backing him

:44:39. > :44:43.at 10-1? 6-1 and it went straight away. She-1 now, Frankel.

:44:43. > :44:48.A punter said today, John, it is better than being in a building

:44:48. > :44:55.society and they pay out quicker. We'll soon see. That's a fair point.

:44:55. > :45:01.The danger is you could lose it all. The racing manager to Khalid

:45:01. > :45:06.Abdullah keeps saying this is not a penalty kick with no goalkeeper.

:45:07. > :45:13.Isn't it? As you know, anything can go wrong. I cannot remember when

:45:13. > :45:23.you had a 10-1 on shot in a Group 1 race where you've got about five

:45:23. > :45:28.

:45:28. > :45:33.other horses that could nearly win Excelebration, he is a very, very

:45:33. > :45:39.good horse. Talk us through this straight mile and the undulations

:45:39. > :45:44.of the course here at Ascot. When you are riding, it seems flat to

:45:44. > :45:50.begin with, although it looks downhill there. From the stalls, it

:45:50. > :45:56.is flat. Then you do seem to climb from the four. You go up a little

:45:56. > :46:01.bit. Then you level off again. Then it's a slight climb right from the

:46:01. > :46:06.two-and-a-half to the finish. But you could see on that - you can see

:46:06. > :46:11.the climb at the finish there on that. It is basically quite a level

:46:11. > :46:17.track here, although it has ups and downs. If you were Tom Queally, how

:46:17. > :46:23.long are you hanging on before you press the accelerator and say, "Go

:46:23. > :46:29.on then!"? He should have wing mirrors on, this guy, to see how

:46:29. > :46:35.everyone else is going. You would wait to the furlong-and-half?

:46:35. > :46:41.would wait till the furlong-and- half. If Lester Piggot was riding

:46:42. > :46:47.this horse, he would be wringing the neck. He has a nice turn of

:46:48. > :46:55.foot. Look at that - that is nice. Look at that. Just eased - I like

:46:55. > :46:59.the way - he is a heavy-type horse, but he is so light on his feet.

:46:59. > :47:04.Everything just floats. He's almost a grade above all the rest of these.

:47:04. > :47:09.There are Group 1-winning horses and, you know, Excelebration in an

:47:09. > :47:17.ordinary year would win this. There is nothing wrong with this horse.

:47:17. > :47:22.He's got plenty of capability. is sweating there. He is thinking

:47:22. > :47:28.the name, "Oh, Frankel's here again!" I thought the betting in

:47:28. > :47:36.this race would have been Mark Prescott's, a place bet, not to win,

:47:36. > :47:41.a place bet. He is 20-1 on. We will have a look at Worthadd in a moment

:47:41. > :47:46.or two. Helmet looked like he had got a bit warm before. They had

:47:47. > :47:52.obviously washed him off. He has been a bit warm in the stables. He

:47:52. > :47:57.looks as if he's had a shower. He looks a lot better now. He has got

:47:57. > :48:02.warm again. You can see the brand on him. He is as Australian-bred

:48:02. > :48:08.horse. Godolphin have won this race plenty of times. They won it four

:48:08. > :48:13.years in a row. They have won it seven times in total. A big, strong

:48:13. > :48:17.horse? As is Excelebration? Exactly. They are the sort of horses that

:48:17. > :48:23.like to get on with it and use their action. I would imagine this

:48:23. > :48:28.race will be run at quite a good pace. It's a lovely race to watch.

:48:28. > :48:35.You were talking about Worthadd. I think he may have gone in. It is

:48:35. > :48:39.all about Frankel. He didn't like the fastish ground at Epsom. No. It

:48:39. > :48:44.should be all about Frankel. We will see Bullet Train up front

:48:44. > :48:49.early on. We will see Frankel up front late on, we think. The Queen

:48:49. > :48:53.Anne Stakes, the opening race of Royal Ascot 2012. Jim McGrath?

:48:54. > :49:03.So being pushed forward now is Bullet Train, the three-quarter

:49:03. > :49:09.brother of Frankel. Sir Henry Cecil looking to see how this wonderful

:49:09. > :49:15.colt goes in the Queen Anne. What a start to the week. Frankel unbeaten

:49:15. > :49:20.in 11 starts, six of them Group 1s. Will this be another big one? The

:49:20. > :49:25.last one goes in. There is Tom Queally. They are set. Standby.

:49:25. > :49:28.They are off and a pretty good start too, Premio Loco on the near

:49:28. > :49:34.side, going fast in the early stages too is Worthadd, on the far

:49:34. > :49:38.side with the noseband. He is looking around there, Bullet Train,

:49:38. > :49:42.he is the pacemaker for Frankel. Frankel right in his slipstream

:49:42. > :49:48.there in the pink cap in fourth. Going into second in the early

:49:48. > :49:51.stages is Joseph O'Brien on Excelebration, so Bullet Train

:49:51. > :49:55.shows the way from Helmet and Excelebration, a half length away

:49:55. > :50:00.Frankel, who is smothered in the centre, three parts away Worthadd,

:50:00. > :50:05.further back Side Glance, they are followed by Premio Loco and Red

:50:06. > :50:09.Jazz and out the back is Windsor Palace, in company with Strong Suit

:50:09. > :50:13.and Indomito is last. They race up towards half-way. It is Bullet

:50:13. > :50:20.Train taking them along at a good gallop from Helmet on the near side,

:50:20. > :50:27.over on the far side in third is Excelebration, in the centre is

:50:27. > :50:31.Frankel and now Tom Queally is giving him more rein. He says, "Go

:50:31. > :50:35.on!" Frankel races to a narrow lead, Excelebration trying to go with him.

:50:35. > :50:39.The old rival, they have two furlongs left. Now he starts to

:50:39. > :50:46.shake the reins. Frankel gets an immediate response. The champion

:50:46. > :50:52.starts to draw away. He's gone three lengths in front. This is a

:50:52. > :50:56.procession! It's now Frankel who is drawing away. What a performance!

:50:56. > :51:01.The superb, the spectacular Frankel, 11 out of 11. In a zone of his own.

:51:01. > :51:08.It's Frankel who wins it by eight lengths, Excelebration is second.

:51:08. > :51:13.In third is Side Glance. Followed by Indomito, who ran on well. They

:51:13. > :51:17.were followed by Windsor Palace, Helmet, in company with Bullet

:51:17. > :51:22.Train and further back Red Jazz, back towards the rear was Premio

:51:22. > :51:29.Loco and Worthadd and also Strong Suit. But what a mighty performance

:51:29. > :51:37.by the highest-rated horse in the world. It's Frankel. What an

:51:37. > :51:42.exciting start to a magnificent week in prospect. 3 Frankel, ridden

:51:42. > :51:47.by Tom Queally, is the winner. Owned by Prince Khalid Abdullah and

:51:47. > :51:53.trained by Sir Henry Cecil. Frankel has got the money. He's done it at

:51:53. > :51:58.long odds-on. It never looked in any doubt. In second is 2

:51:58. > :52:03.Excelebration, his old rival. He's been beaten five times by Frankel.

:52:03. > :52:13.Third was 7 Side Glance, who has ran on particularly well for Jimmy

:52:13. > :52:13.

:52:13. > :52:20.Fortune. Fourth is 4 Indomito, ridden by William Buick. 1-10

:52:20. > :52:25.Frankel. 5-1 Excelebration, 33-1 Side Glance. What a start to the

:52:26. > :52:32.meeting. A fabulous performance from a fabulous performer. Here he

:52:32. > :52:37.is, Frankel, making it 11 wins from 11 starts and look at it - daylight

:52:37. > :52:45.to second! Excelebration gets second officially. In third is Side

:52:45. > :52:52.Glance. In fourth is Indomito. In fifth is Windsor Palace. Then the

:52:52. > :52:57.early pacemaker, Bullet Train, who stuck on particularly well, ahead

:52:57. > :53:02.of Helmet, they were followed by Premio Loco and Red Jazz and Strong

:53:02. > :53:08.Suit and Worthadd, who was out there early is last. But Tom

:53:08. > :53:13.Queally, the man in the box seat. He has been from day one. He's been

:53:13. > :53:20.aboard this absolute galloping machine. This has set the scene and

:53:20. > :53:24.set the standard. There he is, Sir Henry Cecil. One of his proudest

:53:24. > :53:33.moments, I have no doubt - a tear in his eye. An emotional moment for

:53:33. > :53:40.this great man of the turf. There he is. Here is Frankel on his way

:53:40. > :53:47.back after this absolutely outstanding performance. He's by

:53:47. > :53:55.Galileo, a Derby winner, and a super sire in his own right. As he

:53:55. > :54:00.comes back to scale, we hear the applause from an appreciative crowd

:54:00. > :54:10.as Frankel comes back 11 lengths is the official margin, 11 lengths he

:54:10. > :54:10.

:54:11. > :54:15.won by and a neck. The time 1:37.85. That time is outside the record of

:54:15. > :54:19.1:37.16 - but not by much. He's got nothing challenging him in there in

:54:19. > :54:24.the closing stages. Honestly, the visual impression this horse gives

:54:24. > :54:28.is unlike anything I have ever seen before. It is staggering to watch.

:54:28. > :54:32.The way he puts the race to bed. Three furlongs from home, it is

:54:32. > :54:35.over. Tom Queally is going to take him down in front of the grandstand

:54:35. > :54:40.and give everybody their chance to appreciate this horse. Anyone who

:54:40. > :54:43.is here today knows that they have seen something really special.

:54:43. > :54:49.APPLAUSE It is difficult for a horse to live up to the hype and

:54:49. > :54:53.then exceed the hype. He's done it. The thing is, Excelebration, I know

:54:53. > :54:58.he's beaten him a few times now, he's beaten him further today than

:54:59. > :55:06.ever. Now, let's take a length to be two pounds. He has given the

:55:06. > :55:10.second, a Group 1 winner a 22-pound beating today on ground that

:55:10. > :55:17.possibly could even get faster so maybe he could even have broken the

:55:17. > :55:22.track record if we hadn't had that rain on Saturday. Just amazing.

:55:22. > :55:27.Absolutely amazing. He's not... Look at him. He is not bothered.

:55:27. > :55:31.Everything in life to him, Clare, everything he does is so easy

:55:31. > :55:38.because he's got so much ability and everything that he does, when

:55:39. > :55:44.he is galloping, it is easier for him than others. When he dies, we

:55:44. > :55:49.will find out possibly why he is so good, maybe he will have a heart

:55:49. > :55:56.twice the size of other horses. There will be something about his

:55:56. > :56:02.interior that is not normal in other horses. We know he's got a

:56:02. > :56:05.big heart. He's obviously got very, very big lungs. Among those

:56:05. > :56:13.watching Frankel Her Majesty the Queen and the Duchess of Cornwall

:56:13. > :56:17.there taking a really close look at this horse. This is something to

:56:17. > :56:20.savour. It is not about money. It is not about what he has won today.

:56:20. > :56:27.It is about what he can do and where he takes this sport and what

:56:27. > :56:31.he does for the racehorse, for the thoroughbred. This horse is worth

:56:31. > :56:36.more than any other racehorse that has ever been. He won't be for sale.

:56:36. > :56:44.You would have to, if somebody could get a figure on him, you

:56:44. > :56:47.would be talking about 60 million, maybe more. 6-0? 6-0. He takes the

:56:47. > :56:52.thoroughbred racehorse to another plain. He lifts the bar. That is

:56:53. > :56:57.what the breeders will be hoping to do by using him. They will pay

:56:57. > :57:01.extra money to do so. Such a shame that Prince Khalid Abdullah isn't

:57:01. > :57:07.here today. To see his best-ever- ever performance, absolutely. I

:57:07. > :57:13.don't know, it is stunning. We have just started Royal Ascot. We said

:57:13. > :57:15.we were going to have a great week. We have started off with an

:57:16. > :57:20.unbelievable performance, a performance that's never ever been

:57:20. > :57:25.beaten on a racecourse anywhere in the world. This is the best

:57:25. > :57:35.racehorse that you have ever seen, I have ever seen, that anybody will

:57:35. > :57:43.

:57:43. > :57:53.ever see. That is the headline. Just repeating the distances - 11

:57:53. > :57:53.

:57:53. > :58:00.lengths and a neck. That time - 1:37.85 - is 0.69 seconds outside

:58:00. > :58:04.the record. So he's done it well. A wide margin winner. This is exactly

:58:04. > :58:14.what those assessors, the handicappers, want to see. That

:58:14. > :58:38.

:58:39. > :58:44.gives them a chance to boost his racehorse we have ever seen,

:58:44. > :58:54.winning the Queen Anne Stakes by 11 lengths, the fabulous and

:58:54. > :58:56.

:58:56. > :59:05.frighteningly phenomenal, Frankel! CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

:59:05. > :59:11.So back in this winner's enclosure, this is the seventh Royal Ascot

:59:11. > :59:16.there has been at the new racecourse, at the new stand.

:59:16. > :59:20.There's been a few changes to the winner's enclosure this year. There

:59:20. > :59:28.is a nice hedge around the back of it. It seems to be a different

:59:28. > :59:36.layout. Frankel is not happy. He's given a bucket a bit of a kick - no

:59:36. > :59:46.damage done, though. Sir Henry Cecil there, just checking that

:59:46. > :59:46.

:59:46. > :59:54.everything is OK. That is Lady Cecil, Jane Cecil. Tom Queally,

:59:54. > :00:04.just explaining to Lord Grimthorpe about matters. Sir Henry not

:00:04. > :00:14.

:00:14. > :00:19.entirely happy about something. I says he wants a bit more space for

:00:19. > :00:22.the horse to walk around and relax and not be crowded. It is often the

:00:22. > :00:26.most dangerous time when a horse comes in, I've seen it happen on

:00:26. > :00:33.many occasions, when a horse comes in and there are crowds around. It

:00:33. > :00:40.is unfair on the horse and it is extremely dangerous.

:00:40. > :00:50.A great start to what we hope is a fantastic week. The result of our

:00:50. > :00:57.

:00:57. > :01:02.first race, the Queen Anne Stakes, anxious moment. He hacked up,

:01:02. > :01:06.winning by 11 lengths. Only one word for that horse - machine.

:01:06. > :01:11.And we have got the benefit at Royal Ascot for the first time of

:01:11. > :01:16.sectional timings. We'll be looking at those to see where his fastest

:01:16. > :01:20.furlong was and how fast it was and if there is way of comparing him

:01:20. > :01:24.with Black Caviar, who will run on Saturday. That's the only way we

:01:24. > :01:27.can do it, to take the fastest furlongs and see how fast they

:01:27. > :01:33.cover the ground. That time was nearly a track record. We'll see

:01:33. > :01:37.how the other times today pan out. Let's here from the winning trainer,

:01:37. > :01:42.Henry Cecil is with Rishi. Many congratulations to Henry Cecil.

:01:42. > :01:46.What's the first feeling, is it relief or surprise? Relief, not

:01:46. > :01:53.surprise. Things have got to go right. No horse is a certainty. He

:01:53. > :01:57.is a great, great horse. You need not ask about him. You've seen him

:01:57. > :02:01.for yourself. Everybody can form their own opinion. You were

:02:01. > :02:05.confident he would perform, from the Lockinge to today. Did he do

:02:05. > :02:10.exactly what you thought or even more? He did what I thought, but he

:02:10. > :02:14.is still improving. As Tom said, he is getting better. That's a

:02:14. > :02:20.frightening thought for everybody else. He looks as if he will stay a

:02:20. > :02:23.mile and a quarter. We leave our options open. He is in the Eclipse,

:02:23. > :02:27.the Sussex, the Juddmonte and two races at the end of the year. We'll

:02:27. > :02:31.feel our way and he will tell me what to do. I don't tell him. He

:02:31. > :02:34.will tell me what to do next. those options are open. A few

:02:34. > :02:39.people have mentioned the possibility of going abroad, is

:02:39. > :02:45.that something that would ever enter your calculations? Going

:02:46. > :02:55.were? Perhaps to America for the breeders Cup. Very unlikely. Thank

:02:56. > :03:04.

:03:04. > :03:09.you very much Sir Henry. do you think? It looks like that.

:03:09. > :03:14.He settled, he travelled. Got everything off the bridle. I was

:03:14. > :03:21.sitting there and away he went.Ing. Is it the best performance he's put

:03:21. > :03:24.up so far? Yes. Why would you say that? He ticked all the boxes, did

:03:24. > :03:30.everything correct. From my point of view, he's been flawless in the

:03:30. > :03:36.past, but I couldn't have asked for any more. He did a perfect prep for

:03:36. > :03:43.it. Henry had no complications and we were all able to do it nicely.

:03:43. > :03:48.Tom, well done. Thank you. Frankel won by miles. Let's look at a

:03:49. > :03:54.couple of the others. Two didn't break too well, Indomito and Helmet,

:03:54. > :03:59.stalls nine and ten. A little bit slow. I had a word with William

:03:59. > :04:03.Buick. He said it didn't make any difference to him. If he hadn't

:04:03. > :04:11.missed a break, he wouldn't have finished with he did. The white

:04:11. > :04:16.face is that of Mickael Barzalona's horse. Looking around to see where

:04:16. > :04:20.the horse is making the run, Frankel, and they haven't gone that

:04:20. > :04:24.fast early on have they? I asked Ian about that. He said that was

:04:24. > :04:28.the plan - ride him like it is a little bit of work. I wanted a

:04:28. > :04:34.decent gallop. He said it was the perfect race. Bullet Train is in

:04:34. > :04:39.front. The pink cap is Frankel. Just track him in second place. He

:04:39. > :04:44.absolutely blitzed the load of these. This is the closing stages,

:04:44. > :04:49.from another angling. Excelebration is in second place and the horse in

:04:49. > :04:54.fourth is Indomito. He benefited from in the having to Chase Frankel

:04:54. > :04:59.early on. I had a word with Frankie Dettori, who ran an unplaced horse.

:04:59. > :05:04.He said it was breathtaking, as he couldn't believe how much Frankel

:05:04. > :05:08.extended his lead. He said it was an awesome performance. That sums

:05:08. > :05:14.it up. You have class horses in behind. He is making them look like

:05:14. > :05:18.handicappers. We saw in the 2000 Guineas earlier how devastating a

:05:18. > :05:27.performance that was. And that is another one. Poor old Excelebration.

:05:27. > :05:33.In most normal years he would be a champion miler. It is Frankel who

:05:33. > :05:38.keeps finishing in front of him all the time.

:05:39. > :05:43.Meanwhile the cheers ring out for Henry Cecil, the most successful

:05:43. > :05:48.trainer in the history of Royal Ascot. He has 73 winners so far,

:05:48. > :05:53.but that's the 74th. I suspect the one that he will cherish the most

:05:53. > :05:58.fondly, because, my word, that was a impressive. Sally Gunnell, the

:05:58. > :06:04.Olympic gold medallist from Barcelona, making the presentation.

:06:04. > :06:10.And Sally, the only woman in history ever to have concurrently

:06:10. > :06:15.held the Olympic, world, Commonwealth and as well as the

:06:15. > :06:25.world record. 400 metre hurdles is her speciality. One mile on the

:06:25. > :06:26.

:06:26. > :06:31.flat. -- one mile on the flat is Frankel's speciality.

:06:31. > :06:36.Everybody is looking so smart, as it is an occasion for which you

:06:36. > :06:39.definitely make a huge effort. And plan well in advance. That means we

:06:39. > :06:43.have a special correspondent for the fashion and this year I'm

:06:43. > :06:46.pleased to say it is once again Suzi Perry.

:06:46. > :06:51.Thank you Clare. You may have seen stories in the papers yesterday

:06:51. > :07:01.about Royal Ascot enforcing their fashion rules. Let's look at a few

:07:01. > :07:01.

:07:01. > :08:28.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 86 seconds

:08:28. > :08:32.of the definitive dos and don't. differences between being in the

:08:32. > :08:36.Grandstand, where the gentlemen can wear suits and ties, like these

:08:36. > :08:43.gentlemen here, looking dapper, and ladies can wear their fascinators.

:08:43. > :08:51.However, if I walk into the Royal Enclosure, I have to wear a hat.

:08:51. > :08:59.Let's chat with Paula Reid of Grazia Magazine. I'm a great one

:08:59. > :09:03.for guidelines. Maybe rules cramp people's style a bit. I think that,

:09:03. > :09:09.the idea of formal day wear is such a troubling concept for most people.

:09:09. > :09:13.I think more girls get into a flat spin about weddings and formal

:09:13. > :09:19.events like Ascot than any other thing. Having guidelines and

:09:19. > :09:25.knowing what the parameters are adds to the enjoyment of the day

:09:25. > :09:31.out. Looking around you, do you think everybody has adhered to the

:09:31. > :09:35.new guideline? I think they have definitely upped the ante. There've

:09:35. > :09:39.been some exquisite hats and really great colours, which you don't

:09:39. > :09:45.often see in England. And we are blessed by the weather. The rules

:09:45. > :09:51.have been the same over time but they've been relaxed over the years.

:09:51. > :09:55.It is about style isn't it? Nobody has to wear a uniform. That is not

:09:55. > :09:59.what's required. That's not fashion is it? Personal style is fabulous,

:09:59. > :10:03.but when it goes beyond the realm of what's appropriate for the

:10:03. > :10:08.surroundings, it doesn't look so great. Thank you very much. You're

:10:08. > :10:15.looking great yourself. Thank you Paulla. Someone else who doesn't

:10:15. > :10:21.look bad, are you upset you can't wear your fascinator? Do I pass

:10:21. > :10:25.muster today? You are looking hot JP. What are you doing in the

:10:25. > :10:31.betting jungle. Watching following was a magical moment, poetry in

:10:31. > :10:39.motion. Awesome. I want to ask you about Wizz Kid and Ortensia in the

:10:39. > :10:46.next race? Wizz Kid, won a group 2 last time. In Chantilly. Bound to

:10:46. > :10:51.go well here, finished behind Deacon Blue last year. Second is

:10:51. > :10:56.Ortensia. She won at Meydan last year, a Group 1. She's improving.

:10:56. > :11:00.Not only are you a fashion judge, you are a good judge on the horses.

:11:00. > :11:06.The wonder of Wolverhampton. Doesn't she scrub up nice? Thank

:11:06. > :11:10.you. I'm sure I will be buying the beers in the bar later on.

:11:11. > :11:15.An amazing buzz around here. People still reacting to Frankel. I just

:11:15. > :11:22.talked to Sir Peter O'Sullivan. I said, how would you describe that?

:11:22. > :11:26.He said it was extraterrestrial. William Buick said he will end up

:11:26. > :11:29.getting no opposition, as everybody knows they can't beat him.

:11:30. > :11:33.Everybody is thrilled by the ability of the horse to exceed

:11:33. > :11:38.expectations. When they are as high as they were coming into it, you

:11:38. > :11:43.can't imagine he could do what he did. I'm surrounded by accents from

:11:43. > :11:48.all over the world. We have runners from Australia, Hong Kong, France,

:11:48. > :11:58.Ireland, America. A huge field for the King's Stand Stakes. It is an

:11:58. > :11:58.

:11:58. > :13:04.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 86 seconds

:13:04. > :13:07.international field. Jim McGrath is starting for this King's Stand

:13:07. > :13:11.Stakes. This will certainly be a case of

:13:11. > :13:21.blink and you miss it for the sprinters. Ortensia is your

:13:21. > :13:53.

:13:53. > :14:00.your favourite at 9-2. This King's Stand Stakes is packed

:14:00. > :14:05.with Group 1 winners. Hayley Turner there. Willie, a horse that's

:14:05. > :14:10.disappointed a couple of times this season. A change of headgear today?

:14:10. > :14:14.She's had quite a few races since she won a Group 1. Disappointed a

:14:14. > :14:18.little bit. This is quite a tough race. There's a lot of strong

:14:18. > :14:25.horses. Let's find Ortensia, the Australian champion, who is coming

:14:25. > :14:30.over. She is horse number 18. She has headgear on. There was thought

:14:30. > :14:35.about retiring her but since she's joined Paul, she's had three and

:14:35. > :14:40.won three. A strong filly. A lot of power. That's what you want in a

:14:40. > :14:50.sprinter. A little warm in the neck, but nothing serious. She's been

:14:50. > :14:52.

:14:52. > :14:56.around the world, so that should be kick that day. As long as things go

:14:56. > :15:03.OK tactically, she will be very hard to beat? She wants a faster

:15:03. > :15:07.ground, possibly. Let's talk about Bated Breath. He is a horse that

:15:07. > :15:12.connections have always wanted to win a Group 1 race, what about

:15:12. > :15:18.today? He is very relaxed. He seems to be at home in the paddock here.

:15:18. > :15:24.I thought Sole Power last time was slightly unlucky not to have beaten

:15:24. > :15:29.him. There was only a head between the two that day. It depends on the

:15:29. > :15:36.way the race is run. I think Sole Power, the ground is going to go

:15:36. > :15:42.against her. Sole Power likes fast ground. Bated Breath, possibly,

:15:42. > :15:48.will go on this. Last year's winner, Prohibit. If he hadn't run this

:15:48. > :15:52.season in Dubai, you would give him a huge chance. Yes, he needs a

:15:52. > :15:58.change of headgear. He wants blinkers. He is one of those horses

:15:58. > :16:02.that he's getting old now. He is getting a bit clever. Who do you

:16:02. > :16:09.think is the stand-out horse in this race? Bated Breath looks the

:16:09. > :16:13.best. Looks the coolest. He looks well within himself. I do like

:16:13. > :16:18.Ortensia. We agree on that. Ortensia from the paddock.

:16:18. > :16:21.The runners on their way down. I have Joseph O'Brien with me now who

:16:21. > :16:26.chased home Frankel. Was there any stage of the race you thought you

:16:26. > :16:30.might be able to give him a race? suppose for a couple of strides, I

:16:30. > :16:38.thought I might get close to him. As soon as Tom pressed the button,

:16:38. > :16:45.he quicked un$$DUMP up. He is an amazing horse? He is very, very

:16:45. > :16:50.good. The last time we saw you on the BBC was on Camelot. How is he?

:16:50. > :16:57.He's not done much after the Derby. He seems to be OK. We won't see him

:16:57. > :17:06.here this week. You have plenty of other good ones. Power is a horse

:17:06. > :17:10.who has done it already. He must be a good ride? Yes, he's in good form.

:17:10. > :17:17.We will see how it goes. Do you think with such a number of runners,

:17:17. > :17:21.it could be a rough race? Everybody obviously needs a bit of luck. I

:17:22. > :17:31.suppose like every race, I think everybody needs a bit of luck.

:17:32. > :17:34.

:17:34. > :17:38.Hopefully, we can get a bit of that. Can I ask you about two more?

:17:38. > :17:43.Cristoforo Colombo? He ran nicely. It is a big step-up today. We will

:17:43. > :17:50.see what happens. We don't have an ideal draw. And tomorrow, a good

:17:50. > :17:58.ride, So You Think in the big race? He seems in good form. Hopefully,

:17:58. > :18:03.he can put right what happened last year. He was unlucky last year.

:18:03. > :18:11.Plenty to look forward to. Good luck with the week. Thank you.

:18:11. > :18:15.It is a pleasure to welcome Derek Cruz. The horse that brings him,

:18:15. > :18:22.Joy And Fun, two years ago suffered a nasty injury. There was a thought

:18:22. > :18:28.he might never race again. Exactly. He had a very bad fracture and he

:18:28. > :18:32.had four screws put into it. The horse slowly recovered. We nursed

:18:32. > :18:36.him back to health. His first few starts back from the injury, he

:18:36. > :18:41.seemed as if he didn't have confidence. Once he got that back,

:18:41. > :18:46.was it like the old Joy And Fun? Yes, it was the first few runs he

:18:46. > :18:52.wasn't very comfortable. He didn't dare put his feet down. He got

:18:52. > :18:58.there. When he didn't put his feet down, he was only four to six

:18:58. > :19:03.lengths. Today, he might see the same Joy And Fun at his best.

:19:03. > :19:09.Things didn't go well in Dubai. He wasn't beaten that far by Ortensia.

:19:10. > :19:14.So you could go very close today? I'm hoping so. I think - the skies

:19:15. > :19:19.have opened up. We have the right attitude coming to this race again.

:19:19. > :19:22.His work back home and over here has been very well. Top class. I

:19:22. > :19:26.expect him to finish well today, yes. Great to see you here. We wish

:19:26. > :19:29.you all the best of luck. Great pleasure to be here. Thank you.

:19:30. > :19:34.Thank you. A fair few of the owners and

:19:35. > :19:44.trainers do stay in the paddock. There are 13 big screens around

:19:45. > :19:45.

:19:45. > :19:47.Ascot. Here we find the winning trainer of this race from last year.

:19:47. > :19:51.Prohibit again and two other runners. You have a taste for this?

:19:51. > :19:57.I love my sprinters. They are easier to train. All three of them

:19:57. > :20:01.are entitled to be here. Three horses with plenty of ability and

:20:02. > :20:05.they deserve their line-up. terms of Prohibit, last year that

:20:05. > :20:09.was a success that meant an awful lot to you, financially obviously.

:20:09. > :20:12.But also in terms of making your stamp as a trainer? Yes, more as a

:20:12. > :20:17.stamp as a trainer to be honest with you. It brought plenty more

:20:17. > :20:21.horses through the doors. We have a full yard now, full of lovely

:20:21. > :20:26.sprinters. I'm hoping I'm carving my way with that type of horse and

:20:26. > :20:31.at least I can carve my way with something! A one, two, three would

:20:31. > :20:37.be special? Way too special! One of them in the first three would be

:20:37. > :20:41.fantastic. You have an inkling? They have all got plenty of ability.

:20:41. > :20:49.They have all got chances. Prohibit on his best form would win. Whether

:20:49. > :20:55.he is in the form of his life, I doubt. Spirit Quartz, he is only

:20:55. > :21:05.young. Monsieur Joe has done a lot of winning in Dubai. He deserves

:21:05. > :21:06.

:21:06. > :21:16.his chance. Good luck. Let's see where Monsieur Joe, Spirit Quartz

:21:16. > :21:32.

:21:32. > :21:36.there. There's Joy And Fun, one of the Hong Kong runners here. They

:21:36. > :21:43.are trying to tighten the girth a bit there. This horse has come from

:21:43. > :21:53.Hong Kong, a long journey over. Obviously, a little bit keyed-up

:21:53. > :21:55.

:21:55. > :22:01.before this big assignment. Brett Doyle working very hard to make the

:22:01. > :22:06.necessary adjustments. Others, though, are circling in front of

:22:06. > :22:16.the stalls. Five furlongs. It's a testing five furlongs, though. It's

:22:16. > :22:24.

:22:24. > :22:28.while we are talking about it. What you may not see here on this clip

:22:29. > :22:33.is the actual undulations. It's a real test and it is something that

:22:33. > :22:41.say Ortensia from Australia will find very different. Also the two

:22:41. > :22:46.Hong Kong runners, Little Bridge and Joy And Fun, they won't have

:22:46. > :22:54.encountered such undulations before, that's for sure. Up to the line,

:22:54. > :23:01.five furlongs here at Ascot. So, there's Luke Nolan. He has the

:23:01. > :23:04.ride on Medicean Man, trained by Jeremy Gask. Luke will be gaining

:23:04. > :23:09.valuable experience here of this course because he will be aboard

:23:10. > :23:13.Black Caviar on Saturday in her big assignment, the Diamond Jubilee

:23:13. > :23:21.Stakes. I'm sure he will consider this very valuable experience, just

:23:21. > :23:27.to get a feel of the course here at this meeting, just to see how it's

:23:27. > :23:33.riding. She had a canter this morning, Black Caviar, at Newmarket,

:23:33. > :23:37.just having a stretch. Peter Moody happy with what he saw. It's all

:23:37. > :23:42.part of the preparation for Saturday.

:23:42. > :23:52.Let's have a look at a few of these. This is Wizz Kid. She is getting

:23:52. > :23:59.warm and sweaty down there. She won her last start quite well. She came

:23:59. > :24:02.over this morning because she will not eat and she's travelled this

:24:02. > :24:07.morning from France. She won't eat other than in her own stable?

:24:07. > :24:11.Exactly. In the paddock, she looked a bit on edge, you know. She is not

:24:11. > :24:14.a good traveller. This is Sole Power, who needs the ground faster

:24:14. > :24:18.than this. There was talk about whether they would run or not. They

:24:19. > :24:25.think it will be fine. He sprung 100-1 shock in the Nunthorpe?

:24:25. > :24:30.don't think it will be fine. The ground will be too easy. He does

:24:30. > :24:36.prefer real-fast ground. There with the red bridle, that is Little

:24:36. > :24:44.Bridge and it's such an interesting field, this, because of the...

:24:44. > :24:48.handlers in the parade ring... one trained in Hong Kong. Zac

:24:48. > :24:57.Purton taking the ride. You would think this horse might be close as

:24:57. > :25:01.well. Seven-week break since his last run. Yes. Spirit Quartz, he is

:25:01. > :25:06.only young. Frankie Dettori on one of many spare rides he is getting

:25:06. > :25:11.this week outside of the Godolphin camp. We will talk in more depth

:25:11. > :25:17.about that. He is very much saying, "I am around and I will still be

:25:17. > :25:25.around. I'm not retiring." He will want to be riding more winners here.

:25:25. > :25:32.That is Tangerine Trees in the bright yellow colours. That will be

:25:32. > :25:40.- Tom Eaves will have this horse up in front. A Group 1 winner. Very

:25:40. > :25:50.fast. We will take a final look at the market for the King's Stand

:25:50. > :26:05.

:26:05. > :26:10.Stakes. Ortensia is our favourite at 9-2. The same colours as Frankel.

:26:10. > :26:20.Craig Williams over from Australia to ride Ortensia, a man who has

:26:20. > :26:22.

:26:22. > :26:30.travelled the world since we saw him here winning a Group 1 race.

:26:30. > :26:33.Last few going forward now. Ortensia attempting to become the

:26:33. > :26:38.fifth Australian winner of the King's Stand Stakes. Joy And Fun

:26:38. > :26:45.has backed out. The horse who was causing all the trouble before the

:26:45. > :26:51.race. Very anxious and backed out of position there. Brett Doyle in

:26:51. > :27:00.the saddle. He sat tight. A hairy moment. Seven minutes late this

:27:00. > :27:04.race. That is it. A couple - Master Of War rearing high. They are

:27:04. > :27:14.saying, "Take one of them out!" You can hear the starter there. He's

:27:14. > :27:21.

:27:21. > :27:26.asked for one of them to come out. Just trying to see which one it is.

:27:26. > :27:31.That was Master Of War, I think. That is it. They are off! And a

:27:31. > :27:35.fairly level break as well and one of the first away on the near side

:27:35. > :27:40.Secret Asset is up there, going fast Tangerine Trees and Night

:27:40. > :27:43.Carnation is there as well, Hamish McGonagall showing plenty of speed

:27:43. > :27:47.and on the far side, Ponty Acclaim is there. Tangerine Trees takes

:27:47. > :27:50.them along, Ponty Acclaim joins on the far side as they settle into

:27:50. > :27:56.stride, on the near side Hamish McGonagall is up there as well in

:27:56. > :28:01.the early stages, Margot Did is behind them, and they are followed

:28:01. > :28:05.by Stepper Point, they are followed by Ortensia, just threading her way

:28:05. > :28:10.through, inside the two, Tangerine Trees is the leader. They race up

:28:10. > :28:14.now with a furlong-and-half to go, it is Tangerine Trees in front,

:28:14. > :28:18.Bated Breath coming, Little Bridge, Ortensia on the far rail, it is

:28:18. > :28:23.Little Bridge for Hong Kong in front, Bated Breath trying hard,

:28:23. > :28:26.but it is Little Bridge who is holding on, a famous Hong Kong win,

:28:26. > :28:30.Little Bridge beats Bated Breath, Sole Power third, in fourth

:28:30. > :28:37.Medicean Man, further back in the field then was Spirit Quartz and

:28:37. > :28:41.they were followed by Tangerine Trees, Caledonia Lady made up some

:28:41. > :28:45.ground, Night Carnation, Ortensia finished in the middle of the pack.

:28:45. > :28:55.The winner is 6 Little Bridge, ridden by Zac Purton, trained in

:28:55. > :28:56.

:28:56. > :29:01.Hong Kong by Danny Shum. In second is Bated Breath, third is Sole

:29:02. > :29:08.Power and Johnny Murtagh. Fourth is Medicean Man, 8, ridden by Luke

:29:08. > :29:12.Nolan. Just behind them you can see Spirit Quartz in that maroon jacket,

:29:12. > :29:18.right up at the top. As the others cross the line, Night Carnation is

:29:18. > :29:21.the one on the near side. That light jacket. Just behind them is

:29:21. > :29:26.Hamish McGonagall. There is Ortensia, top of the screen now.

:29:27. > :29:30.Just having passed the line with that black cap. And further back

:29:30. > :29:35.then, Monsieur Joe, some way behind them, Ponty Acclaim and Stepper

:29:35. > :29:42.Point, they were well back. Also, Bapak Chinta was well back in the

:29:42. > :29:52.field as well. Secret Asset among the tailenders. Margot Did got very

:29:52. > :30:02.weary as well. What a moment for Danny CS Shum. He has brought a

:30:02. > :30:04.

:30:04. > :30:14.horse half-way across the world to winning distance. A length between

:30:14. > :30:24.second and third. The time 59: 69. It is 0.25 of a second outside the

:30:24. > :30:30.

:30:30. > :30:40.record. Little Bridge, this gelding by Faltat out of Golden Rose. It

:30:40. > :30:44.has come up trumps today. This is a win that will be celebrating Happy

:30:44. > :30:51.Valley and right across Hong Kong island and the new territories and

:30:51. > :30:54.Kowloon. Little Bridge is the winner.

:30:54. > :30:58.The international nature of this Royal Ascot really confirmed there

:30:58. > :31:06.with a win for Hong Kong in the King's Stand Stakes, a race that's

:31:07. > :31:15.gone abroad in so many of the last ten years, usually to Australia.

:31:15. > :31:19.Ortensia never really went through with it. Meanwhile Little Bridge,

:31:20. > :31:25.with Zac Purton on board, was finishing best of all. A great run

:31:25. > :31:30.by Bated Breath. A lovely run by him. He wasn't quite good enough.

:31:30. > :31:35.He was beaten by a better horse on the day. Little Bridge, he's

:31:35. > :31:41.quickened up better than anything. Sprinted away. You can see Ortensia

:31:41. > :31:45.on the nearest to the camera in the black cap and orange colours, being

:31:45. > :31:50.pushed along and not being able to pick up. The ground you would have

:31:50. > :31:55.to say might not have been quick enough for her. But look at Sole

:31:55. > :32:00.Power, and he needs it rock hard. Obviously there was only a head

:32:00. > :32:03.between the second and third at Haydock last time. Today, Bated

:32:04. > :32:09.Breath has improved a little bit, but that could be down to the

:32:09. > :32:14.ground being a little bit slower than it was at Haydock. A great

:32:14. > :32:19.result for Hong Kong to win this sprint race. It was race where a

:32:19. > :32:25.lot of the foreigners were going to give our British challengers a lot

:32:25. > :32:32.to do, but Bated Breath gave us a great run for our money. But today,

:32:32. > :32:37.Little Bridge was too good, too fast for them all. Very shortly we

:32:37. > :32:43.are going to be switching channels to BBC Two. We have another Group 1

:32:43. > :32:48.race. I will be joined by Henry Cecil to reflect in more detail of

:32:48. > :32:53.the stunning success of Frankel in our opening race in the Queen Anne.

:32:53. > :32:59.Here, victory for Hong Kong and for Zac Purton. A moment I suspect he

:32:59. > :33:06.will rate up there with the best things he's ever done. I think so.

:33:06. > :33:11.Why not? A great thrill for people to come

:33:11. > :33:16.from another country and win. I know when I did it abroad I was

:33:16. > :33:24.always very proud. Hong Kong, they have not in the past been great

:33:24. > :33:34.travellers. One won a race at Meydan. Am I right in saying this

:33:34. > :33:43.is the first ever? It is at Ascot. David Orton won with at York. Do

:33:43. > :33:48.you remember? Yes. It was a sprinter. The fanfare sounds once
