:00:51. > :00:56.Good evening and welcome back to Manchester, where we have enjoyed a

:00:57. > :01:02.fantastic celebration of what was a wonderful summer of sport for

:01:03. > :01:05.Paralympic GB and Team GB, and the rain here in Manchester certainly

:01:06. > :01:08.didn't dampen the spirits. # Breeze driftin' on by,

:01:09. > :01:28.you know how I feel Andy Murray is a double

:01:29. > :01:55.Olympic gold medallist! Sarah Storey is Great Britain's most

:01:56. > :01:59.successful Paralympian! Adam Peaty takes Olympic

:02:00. > :02:02.gold for Great Britain! That is a third gold

:02:03. > :02:06.medal for Bethany Firth! Glover and Stanning defend

:02:07. > :02:12.their Olympic title. # Blossom on the tree,

:02:13. > :02:24.you know how I feel # It's a new dawn, it's a new day,

:02:25. > :02:34.it's a new life for me, yeah, COMMENTATOR: A double gold

:02:35. > :02:40.medallist in the 100 metres. Alistair Brownlee, the Olympic

:02:41. > :02:45.trialthon champion! Kadeena Cox, gold in the Velodrome

:02:46. > :02:48.and gold now on the track. # Scent of the pine,

:02:49. > :03:03.you know how I feel # Oh, freedom is mine,

:03:04. > :03:10.and I know how I feel # Yes, it's a new dawn, it's

:03:11. > :03:27.a new day, it's a new life for me COMMENTATOR: Laura Trott

:03:28. > :03:34.is Britain's most successful female Max Whitlock - double

:03:35. > :03:39.Olympic champion. Jason Kenny's got it,

:03:40. > :03:44.a sixth gold medal! Mo Farah is going to

:03:45. > :03:59.get the double double. It is a mixture of sunshine and

:04:00. > :04:04.showers, almost exactly one month since the closing ceremony of the

:04:05. > :04:08.Paralympics so it is a chance today to relive events in Rio and refresh

:04:09. > :04:12.memories, which is worth doing bearing in mind what was achieved.

:04:13. > :04:17.There will be youngsters watching who revel in the success and take it

:04:18. > :04:23.for granted that in Olympic terms winning medals is normal. Go back 20

:04:24. > :04:29.years to Atlanta, there was one gold medal at the Olympics. Steve

:04:30. > :04:37.Redgrave and Matthew Pinsent. I can remember being part of a team that

:04:38. > :04:41.came back, and our parade was a convertible car. Float number one

:04:42. > :04:47.has just started moving. Libby, how does that memory fit in your own

:04:48. > :04:53.mind? It feels like such a long time ago, so much has happened since

:04:54. > :04:58.then. Been on holiday, been visiting family and friends so it feels like

:04:59. > :05:04.a long time ago already. Any downside to wearing your two medals?

:05:05. > :05:11.They keep bashing together, having two they get scratched really

:05:12. > :05:15.easily. Never mind! Looking down on the city of Manchester and a

:05:16. > :05:19.reminder of what was achieved. The Olympic Games, Great Britain and

:05:20. > :05:25.Northern Ireland claimed 67 medals altogether, and ahead of China in

:05:26. > :05:31.the table which is always a useful marker, behind only the United

:05:32. > :05:39.States. Two more medals overall than managed at London 2012. Paralympics,

:05:40. > :05:43.147 medals in total, 27 more than in London.

:05:44. > :05:47.It is an absolute treat, Manchester looking resplendent. Jazz, I will

:05:48. > :05:52.come to you first because it must seem like ages ago when you won your

:05:53. > :05:58.first silver medals but here you are taking in the applause you deserve.

:05:59. > :06:02.What is it like? We have had a bit of rain but that has not dampened

:06:03. > :06:07.it. We thank the public for the support because it has been

:06:08. > :06:12.incredible. Write until we landed we had incredible support from everyone

:06:13. > :06:17.and it is amazing to be here today and thank everyone. Jack, I'm sure

:06:18. > :06:21.you want to say the same message. Rio was some time ago and now you

:06:22. > :06:27.finally get to meet the public that gave so much support. Yes, it is

:06:28. > :06:31.nice to do it with the Olympians and Paralympians together as well. For

:06:32. > :06:37.me personally I had no idea what the sport was like at home. To come back

:06:38. > :06:41.and see thousands of people in the streets of Manchester, out in the

:06:42. > :06:46.rain as well earlier. They have stuck through it, it is nice to be

:06:47. > :06:52.here and to be able to say thank you to everybody because they are

:06:53. > :06:58.massive part of it as well. Becky James, world champion, and a double

:06:59. > :07:02.Olympic medallist as well. Just talk about your journey you had for the

:07:03. > :07:06.three years building up the Rio 2016 because a lot of people won't

:07:07. > :07:10.remember what you went through to be here on this float, enjoying the

:07:11. > :07:14.Manchester crowd you know so well and rejoicing what was a great

:07:15. > :07:20.summer. It was a really tough journey. The two years coming into

:07:21. > :07:27.the Olympics was really hard, especially from 2014 I was injured.

:07:28. > :07:33.I had a long period off. I had a really good year out from Rio, and

:07:34. > :07:39.to be standing here with two medals aren't to be celebrating with

:07:40. > :07:43.everybody is incredible. Anne Dickins, four years ago what were

:07:44. > :07:48.you doing? Standing on the side of a road just like this, waving at the

:07:49. > :07:53.athletes I had been looking after at 2012 and I was a games maker at that

:07:54. > :08:00.very parade so it seems funny to be on a float waving back at the

:08:01. > :08:06.people. And was competing at the Games a dream or at Fort or none of

:08:07. > :08:15.that? I always said it would be nice to get the Rio, but to get the -- to

:08:16. > :08:19.the final and to win a medal was more of a dream than I could ever

:08:20. > :08:23.have hard. It is difficult to know where to look and who to mention,

:08:24. > :08:30.there's so many to talk about, and big crowds. We are expecting upwards

:08:31. > :08:35.of 100,000 in Albert Square, where the parade will end with an onstage

:08:36. > :08:40.performance and greeting of the athletes.

:08:41. > :08:51.It has been a normal year, hasn't it, Joe, and here you are in

:08:52. > :08:57.Manchester, just normal, isn't it? Yes, just normal! It is fantastic to

:08:58. > :09:03.see everybody supporting Team GB and the Paralympians, and the rain has

:09:04. > :09:06.just about stopped. Could you have imagined all those months ago this

:09:07. > :09:13.is how you would be celebrating? This is a dream, to be standing here

:09:14. > :09:21.with this around my neck is a dream achieved. We are here living it and

:09:22. > :09:28.it is amazing. Float number 12 has Olympic rugby, Olympic sailing,

:09:29. > :09:31.shooting, tennis, triathlon, and Matthew Pinsent is on float number

:09:32. > :09:37.12. Lutalo Muhammad, I'm afraid the only

:09:38. > :09:44.question anyone will ask you for years is why didn't you run away?

:09:45. > :09:50.There's a lot of cold of course! Losing by 0.1 with one seconds ago

:09:51. > :09:54.was devastating but being here I cannot help but smile, I am in great

:09:55. > :09:58.spirits and I have another opportunity in four years which I

:09:59. > :10:02.will take with both hands. Everybody lived with you through those tearful

:10:03. > :10:06.moments, that must have been horrendous at the time. It was

:10:07. > :10:11.absolutely devastating, probably one of the lowest points of my life but

:10:12. > :10:16.the sun did rise the next morning and I've got another opportunity in

:10:17. > :10:21.four years. I'm still very blessed to be an Olympic silver medallist as

:10:22. > :10:31.sad as it was at the time so it is all smiles. Hannah Russell, and

:10:32. > :10:37.Bethany Firth who has come complete with poncho. Very cleverly done,

:10:38. > :10:43.Bethany. You know all about wet weather. This is just a little bit

:10:44. > :10:52.of something. Yes, nothing will stop us smiling. Exactly, Great Britain's

:10:53. > :10:57.most successful Paralympian 2016, that is huge. We can see all four of

:10:58. > :11:04.your medals, what did that feel like? It just meant that all of

:11:05. > :11:09.those hours of training were worth it and the whole team did incredible

:11:10. > :11:15.as well so it was great to be out there. Your housemates in Rio as

:11:16. > :11:20.well, Hannah Russell, who didn't do too badly either, three medals in

:11:21. > :11:26.total, two of them gold. How nice is it to celebrate with the British

:11:27. > :11:30.public? It is fantastic, this time around to have a parade in

:11:31. > :11:33.Manchester and London is incredible. Everyone can get together and

:11:34. > :11:40.celebrate the success Britain has had. It might be wet but look at the

:11:41. > :11:46.smiles on these girls' faces. The time has come, this is what we

:11:47. > :11:50.are all here for so first onto the Albert Square stage, ladies and

:11:51. > :11:57.gentlemen, the British Paralympic athletes!

:11:58. > :12:02.# Gold! Always believe in your soul # You've got the power to know your

:12:03. > :12:15.indestructible # Always believe

:12:16. > :12:26.# Hannah, I'm going to jump in here, you can share my umbrella.

:12:27. > :12:30.The unstoppable Hannah Cockroft. Two gold medals in London, two in Rio,

:12:31. > :12:38.you have done some phenomenal things. How are you, looking back on

:12:39. > :12:41.it? It means nothing until you come somewhere like this and see the

:12:42. > :12:47.amount of people behind it. Thank you for coming out into this

:12:48. > :12:51.terrible weather and supporting us. Another man who knows the taste of

:12:52. > :12:56.victory, Richard Whitehead. There wasn't much question about you

:12:57. > :13:00.bringing home the 200 metres gold but the 100 metres gold, if that

:13:01. > :13:06.race had been 101 metres long I reckon you would have added. If it

:13:07. > :13:11.was 101 metres maybe I would be retired now and not thinking about

:13:12. > :13:15.moving on to Tokyo so today is a great celebration about what we did

:13:16. > :13:20.in Rio, but without the support here in Manchester and the rest of Great

:13:21. > :13:26.Britain, it is all about you guys really. So thank you for the

:13:27. > :13:32.support. You are awesome. Without the volunteers, the national lottery

:13:33. > :13:42.players, everyone in gold hats, we love you!

:13:43. > :13:51.# I've got to kiss myself I'm so pretty...

:13:52. > :13:59.#. Jessica, come over here. Jessica

:14:00. > :14:07.Ennis-Hill, Manchester! The rain stopped appropriately. I know, I'm

:14:08. > :14:11.not looking very glamorous. What was the parade like? Incredible, we

:14:12. > :14:15.cannot thank you enough for the support you have given all these

:14:16. > :14:20.years, and for you to turn out and cheer and wave your flags is

:14:21. > :14:30.incredible, thank you. We know you have announced your retirement

:14:31. > :14:34.now... I tell you what, we might have a future in panto if this

:14:35. > :14:39.continues. How long did you think about it?

:14:40. > :14:44.It was a tough decision, I knew in my heart it was the right decision

:14:45. > :14:48.but it was still difficult to make it public and say it. The messages

:14:49. > :14:52.and support I've had over the years has been incredible. I can't thank

:14:53. > :14:57.you all enough, it's been very special. Ladies and gentlemen, the

:14:58. > :15:02.British athletes, Jessica Ennis-Hill.

:15:03. > :15:05.What you make of a crowd like this? Think of the weather and how long

:15:06. > :15:09.they have stood here, what does it mean to you to get this reaction? It

:15:10. > :15:13.means everything to me, I would like to thank everybody for coming out

:15:14. > :15:18.today, especially in the brain. Manchester, I love you! I think it's

:15:19. > :15:25.fair to say Manchester loves you. -- especially in the rain. Enjoy the

:15:26. > :15:33.rest of it. Can I do something cheeky? You always do. I'm going to

:15:34. > :15:37.go down and do some cheeky selfies! That, ladies and gentlemen, is the

:15:38. > :15:42.last we will see of Nicola Adams for the next two and a half hours. Let's

:15:43. > :15:47.not forget every single member of the Team GB track cycling squad came

:15:48. > :15:53.back with a medal from Rio. So did that help you all or did it kind of

:15:54. > :15:57.put added pressure on as the Exxon went on Exxon went on the next one

:15:58. > :16:06.went? Went? I think it really helped. Especially day one, Callum

:16:07. > :16:10.and Phil won. They won and broke the Olympic record on day one of the

:16:11. > :16:14.competition. For me, that gave me so much confidence in our team, the

:16:15. > :16:18.preparation, the equipment, everything that we'd done together.

:16:19. > :16:22.That gave me so much confidence they had won. Day one and Phil was

:16:23. > :16:26.running around with his medal and we were like, we want one as well. The

:16:27. > :16:31.day we braced I remember looking up and seeing all the men's team

:16:32. > :16:35.pursuit squad there watching us. I said, wow, they came to cheer us on.

:16:36. > :16:40.I was so glad they done that and the next day I found out they'd been

:16:41. > :16:43.told to be there for a BBC interview so it probably wasn't of their own

:16:44. > :16:47.accord. But it was nice to see them all out there. Thank you so much for

:16:48. > :16:54.talking to us, and all the team who have come out, Team GB cycling.

:16:55. > :16:57.Dame Sarah Storey, you are the most successful female Paralympian GB has

:16:58. > :17:03.ever produced. What does that mean to you?

:17:04. > :17:06.It's huge. Tanni Grey Thompson is an incredible athlete, I voice looked

:17:07. > :17:11.up to her. I don't think it will ever think in I had won more gold

:17:12. > :17:14.medals than she has. She has been an incredible mentor to me throughout

:17:15. > :17:20.my career and will continue to be so, she is so incredible. You've

:17:21. > :17:24.done that crossed two sports but you've done two in the same games,

:17:25. > :17:33.breaking a record that stood for 28 years for Great Britain. 32! 32? Who

:17:34. > :17:37.wrote these cards? Yeah, it was fun. I went out there to achieve what I

:17:38. > :17:41.did. We weren't sure if it was going to go as well as it did but I went

:17:42. > :17:46.out there and performed the best I could and I'm happy with what I did.

:17:47. > :17:53.Max Whitlock, take a bow. What you did in Rio was phenomenal. Talk us

:17:54. > :17:58.through that day. It was a crazy day. To do it in the

:17:59. > :18:02.space of an hour and a half was unbelievable. The support we've had

:18:03. > :18:06.this whole journey and for you guys to be here today, even in this

:18:07. > :18:10.weather is just incredible. We didn't realise how much support we

:18:11. > :18:15.had until we stepped off that plane, so thank you. In terms of support...

:18:16. > :18:19.CHEERING 10 million people were watching you.

:18:20. > :18:22.Did you kind of comeback, were you getting stopped in the street

:18:23. > :18:28.everywhere? The recognition has gone up a bit, but for the individuals,

:18:29. > :18:33.for the sports profile, it's been incredible. The amount of gymnasts

:18:34. > :18:38.I've heard doing gymnastics today is crazy. So hopefully we can keep that

:18:39. > :18:41.continuing, that's been our mission, to inspire generations, inspire

:18:42. > :18:45.people into sport, so we're doing quite well in it. Ladies and

:18:46. > :18:49.gentlemen Lee Pearson was the first man into the stadium because he was

:18:50. > :18:55.the flag bearer for ParalympicsGB. How did that one feel? I got awful

:18:56. > :18:59.friend saying do something funny with the flag over your face. I was

:19:00. > :19:03.like, this is the most important time of my life, I'm going to intend

:19:04. > :19:09.to stay on the scooter and not drop the flag. You manage that and you

:19:10. > :19:12.manage to stay was taken gold and silver. You got an individual silver

:19:13. > :19:19.in 2012 that determine due to come back and get the this year? It did.

:19:20. > :19:23.Just before 2012 this particular horse broke my back in four places,

:19:24. > :19:28.but he did behave himself out in Rio and I love him to bits. The silver

:19:29. > :19:32.medal was so important on the Wednesday, and on the Friday we

:19:33. > :19:35.picked on and did our job and got the gold.

:19:36. > :19:43.Please put your hands together for the Olympic hockey team! CHEERING

:19:44. > :19:49.AND APPLAUSE I knew that was going to get a big

:19:50. > :19:56.round of applause. You could feel every decibel of that

:19:57. > :20:04.cheer. Doing it in style! , and have a chat. Captain Kate

:20:05. > :20:08.Richardson-Walsh. Are you all right? Yes, I'm a little bit like a drowned

:20:09. > :20:13.rat but I'm a Mancunian, so I'm totally fine with it! Back on home

:20:14. > :20:19.turf? Yes, lovely to be home, thanks for having us. I've said it before

:20:20. > :20:23.and lots of people have said it since, 9 million watched on the

:20:24. > :20:27.Friday night. Do you feel that was the defining moment for women's

:20:28. > :20:31.sport, team sport? I think all of the performances from

:20:32. > :20:35.the Paralympics and the Olympians, everyone did an amazing job. For

:20:36. > :20:39.women and young girls were just saying to them, go out and achieve

:20:40. > :20:45.your dreams. You can do if you work hard, if you're dedicated, anything

:20:46. > :20:49.can happen. Helen and Katherine, don't try and

:20:50. > :20:54.hide. Step forward, step forward. Hello

:20:55. > :20:58.ladies. Do you think it's hard for them to appreciate for you guys

:20:59. > :21:02.training is quite lonely? You are up and out early, anti-social hours.

:21:03. > :21:05.With that in mind, how important our days like this?

:21:06. > :21:09.It's amazing because you almost feel quite selfish that your training

:21:10. > :21:12.every single day for a goal that is the biggest thing you can think of,

:21:13. > :21:16.it feels like you're the only one that cares. When you race and you

:21:17. > :21:20.realise you might have inspired some on, you might have made some on's

:21:21. > :21:24.date, you might have made them excited, you might have got them to

:21:25. > :21:28.pick up a new sport you realise, it's not about me, it's about

:21:29. > :21:32.everyone, young and old. You don't have to want to be the next big

:21:33. > :21:35.thing, you don't have to want to be the next Olympian, but what you can

:21:36. > :21:40.gain from sport from health and fitness and making new friends, it's

:21:41. > :21:44.just endless. The fact that we can do our jobs and be so lucky to do

:21:45. > :21:48.what we do for a living, and have a reception like this at the end of

:21:49. > :21:51.the day, I think it blows all of our minds.

:21:52. > :21:56.The strength of British rowing is phenomenal and gets better and

:21:57. > :22:02.better. And also the style and good-looking. Look at them! Didn't

:22:03. > :22:07.get quite a big cheer! That was just friends and family. I mean, it is.

:22:08. > :22:14.The whole team has been so successful crossed all the sports.

:22:15. > :22:17.And in the crowd as well! I think we know there is an expectation to

:22:18. > :22:21.deliver big results now and we'll know that's what we're aiming for

:22:22. > :22:25.and the intensity day to day in training comes through in those big

:22:26. > :22:27.results. Everyone who saw the success in London and enjoyed the

:22:28. > :22:32.big day is out after that knew what it'll be like. Everyone wanted to

:22:33. > :22:40.have a day like this. I love these hats by the way. Do you want one?

:22:41. > :22:43.Yes, I do. Can somebody here...? Health and safety wouldn't have been

:22:44. > :22:50.very happy there, you could have had my eye out. There you go. CHEERING

:22:51. > :22:57.Now I've got you a hat hopefully you won't stump me for this question,

:22:58. > :22:59.what's next? Holiday. Good. Huge congratulations, your third

:23:00. > :23:05.Olympic Games, how did this one compare? It was great, to come from

:23:06. > :23:08.a home games in London, which is outstanding, and come to this one in

:23:09. > :23:12.Rio was incredible. I'm so shocked by all the people who have come out

:23:13. > :23:17.today and supported us. But it's fantastic, so thank you. Ellie

:23:18. > :23:22.Robinson, I'm disappointed you've come down with your hood down after

:23:23. > :23:26.that entrance in Rio. What was it like coming out that incredible Rio

:23:27. > :23:30.crowd? The crowd in Rio were amazing, they knew how to get

:23:31. > :23:33.everyone going. When you walked out for your race, it was an amazing

:23:34. > :23:38.atmosphere to walk out and it got you going for your race. In a word,

:23:39. > :23:43.you two are so smiley and new support each other, but what about

:23:44. > :23:47.in the pool? Does that get wiped off and there's a more serious rivalry?

:23:48. > :23:53.Yes, I'm very competitive. That was a quick answer! LE beat me in some

:23:54. > :23:58.of the races are not happy about that. Hopefully that will change in

:23:59. > :24:03.Tokyo. -- Ellie I support my team-mates all the way, the whole of

:24:04. > :24:07.ParalympicsGB and Olympics GB. Where a great team and we're proud to be

:24:08. > :24:10.British, so it's great. We were talking about the growth of some

:24:11. > :24:15.other sports. Taekwondo has grown, even from when you were there in

:24:16. > :24:20.London, 2012? I remember going to London on the would say, what sport

:24:21. > :24:24.do you do? They didn't know what taekwondo was. Now I'm going on the

:24:25. > :24:27.bus and everyone is screaming Jay Jones and knows me and knows the

:24:28. > :24:33.sport, it's just unbelievable, really, the difference in a few

:24:34. > :24:37.years. -- Jade Jones. What was the difference between competing in

:24:38. > :24:42.London and Rio? In London I was just a young kid that went there and

:24:43. > :24:46.bought my heart out and won. This time it was so different. I had all

:24:47. > :24:51.that pressure going into it. I didn't think how much better it

:24:52. > :25:00.would be until I got there. It was just light relief, more than

:25:01. > :25:06.anything. Lutalo seems to be working the crowd differently to what's

:25:07. > :25:13.going on on stage. The final sport is the triathlon team!

:25:14. > :25:17.# Gold, you've got the power to know # You are indestructible

:25:18. > :25:27.# Always believed # You are gold #.

:25:28. > :25:34.We have our men's competitors here. Alistair and Jonny Brownlee!

:25:35. > :25:37.CHEERING Alistair and Jonny Brownlee, we were

:25:38. > :25:39.having a bit of the debate because we were saying, will they come or

:25:40. > :25:42.won't they? They are not the kind of guys that

:25:43. > :25:47.say yes, here we are, we are fabulous. What you make of this

:25:48. > :25:53.afternoon? It's been fantastic. I would have preferred if the coaches

:25:54. > :25:58.had carried on going along the M62 going home... At least we would have

:25:59. > :26:04.got some sunshine then. Thanks for joining us, goodbye! He's kidding,

:26:05. > :26:09.he's kidding. You are joking, right? Of course. The support has been

:26:10. > :26:12.fantastic. You do spend your life travelling and embracing all over

:26:13. > :26:17.the place, you don't quite get a grasp of how many people, hopefully

:26:18. > :26:20.follow what you do. That's what events like these are so special,

:26:21. > :26:23.seeing people on the side of the road cheering you on and they've

:26:24. > :26:29.been watching the Olympics, fantastic. Let's talk of Mexico,

:26:30. > :26:38.that photo of the two of you and you helping him went viral. CHEERING

:26:39. > :26:43.I'm not going to get heat exhaustion tonight, I'm telling you that! It

:26:44. > :26:47.was incredible. I went to hospital the night after the race and I woke

:26:48. > :26:51.up and turned my phone and it crashed and you realised how viral

:26:52. > :26:54.that video when. It's a weird situation in sport when you actually

:26:55. > :27:00.become more well known for losing a race venue did for winning the race.

:27:01. > :27:05.If anything came out of it, it's very good for the sport and it made

:27:06. > :27:08.Alistair good as well. You are both very, very good for the sport and

:27:09. > :27:12.we're very grateful you are here. Ladies and gentlemen, despite his

:27:13. > :27:13.comments, a massive round of applause, Alistair and Jonny

:27:14. > :27:19.Brownlee! CHEERING

:27:20. > :27:23.Have you had a good afternoon? Brilliant. Ellie Simmonds said it

:27:24. > :27:26.best, is she so proud to be British. It's so easy to understand when you

:27:27. > :27:32.see a crowd like this that come out and braved the rain, they braved the

:27:33. > :27:38.wind and go wild for our incredible GB athletes. We have to say, one

:27:39. > :27:47.massive, big round of applause once again for Team GB and ParalympicsGB.

:27:48. > :27:53.Good night. It has been a wonderful reminder of what was a super summer

:27:54. > :27:57.in Rio for Team GB and for many of these athletes out here this is the

:27:58. > :28:00.last hurrah, the last party, the hard work starts very soon, as they

:28:01. > :28:06.go back to training ready for another cycle. But fear not, because

:28:07. > :29:02.Tokyo is only 1376 days away. From all of us, a very good night.

:29:03. > :29:05.Semi... ..finals. I think the flavour's perfect.

:29:06. > :29:07.Drama. Jeopardy. I just haven't been sleeping.

:29:08. > :29:10.Excitement. Tension. This is manic.
