:00:38. > :00:51.Hello and welcome to Leigh for the second Challenge Cup semifinal of
:00:52. > :00:55.the weekend. Last night hell Hull made it to Wembley, Warrington
:00:56. > :01:01.Wakefield will join them. -- last night Hull made it. Warrington crown
:01:02. > :01:09.are wonderful year with a wonderful win. Over 102,000 spectators in
:01:10. > :01:17.Bradford. The Warrington scrum-half got the try that guaranteed victory.
:01:18. > :01:25.Look at Wakefield playing superb textbook rugby. The record score of
:01:26. > :01:31.38-5. That's it, congratulations to Wakefield Trinity. A victory
:01:32. > :01:35.well-deserved. No stopping Wakefield. Ian Brooke goes over for
:01:36. > :01:47.yet another try. Their third cup win in four years. 1974 rugby league
:01:48. > :01:54.Challenge Cup final. Necklace running in for a second try!
:01:55. > :02:00.Warrington haven't won a Wembley cup final in 35 years. Ooh, it's a
:02:01. > :02:15.fabulous try by Chris Hicks. The celebrations! Atkins! He will slide
:02:16. > :02:23.over! Three times winners in the last four years!
:02:24. > :02:30.Well, Warrington are the favourites. This is their fifth consecutive
:02:31. > :02:36.semifinal. But they've lost the last three including last year Sio shock
:02:37. > :02:47.defeat to Hull KR. -- last year's shock defeat. A maiden super eight
:02:48. > :02:53.this year for Chris Chester who took help KR -- Hull KR to Wembley last
:02:54. > :02:56.year, can he do it again? Plenty of experience alongside me. A man who
:02:57. > :03:01.won this trophy last season with Leeds, Jamie Peacock. Current
:03:02. > :03:06.witness macro head coach Denis Betts, and Brian Noble. Ryan and
:03:07. > :03:07.Jamie were alongside me last night in Doncaster where we witnessed a
:03:08. > :03:23.really intense semifinal. COMMENTATOR: Plenty of history is
:03:24. > :03:31.shared by these two but it is all about the here and now. Let's go,
:03:32. > :03:37.boys. Ten metres out. Here comes Williams again, up to the line, and
:03:38. > :03:49.reaches! Has he got that down? I think you might have. He's having a
:03:50. > :03:53.look, he gives a try! Don't lose the aggression, be smart, boys. Ellis
:03:54. > :04:09.cuts in on the angle, over the top of Tompkins! No try. Wigan right
:04:10. > :04:13.underneath the Hull sticks. A gale of abuse coming from the Hull fans
:04:14. > :04:20.as Williams throws a lovely pass. It's a forward pass. At the end of
:04:21. > :04:26.an enthralling first half George Williams BME try scorer, and what a
:04:27. > :04:33.try. Whatever happens we are straight back into this. Runs away
:04:34. > :04:40.from Crosby, gets the pass inside for Ellis. Great off-load, Prichard
:04:41. > :04:46.with a risky pass that comes off. Look at this, look at that! Michaels
:04:47. > :04:58.into the corner! They gamble, they twist.
:04:59. > :05:17.Snead puts the kick to the corner. He's got it, scored by Talanoa! Last
:05:18. > :05:24.stages. Powell out of dummy half. Smith carries it in. Williams, they
:05:25. > :05:35.are there, and they've got the try through Isa! Hull's defence finally
:05:36. > :05:42.breached! Black and white all over. It's been wholehearted from both
:05:43. > :05:49.sides but it's Hull FC who are going to Wembley. STUDIO: We thank Gareth
:05:50. > :05:55.Ellis for wearing the microphone last night. He tweeted this morning
:05:56. > :06:00.he thought we had edit it it well, presumably to take this wearing out
:06:01. > :06:06.of it. Which you could understand, swearing, because it was so intense.
:06:07. > :06:12.When he said it was too tense for him, I was with him. Would you have
:06:13. > :06:15.liked to play in it? Definitely. The intensity was several levels higher
:06:16. > :06:20.than we have seen all year, fantastic to watch, an absorbing
:06:21. > :06:24.encounter. How hard is it for a coach, a game of that intensity, you
:06:25. > :06:29.are not seeing free-flowing rugby league but you are seeing brutal,
:06:30. > :06:33.really good defensive rugby league. Great game from my perspective
:06:34. > :06:37.watching it. Fantastic play, they knew what they needed to do. For a
:06:38. > :06:43.semifinal to be so hard-fought, nothing was easy, nobody got
:06:44. > :06:47.anything given to them last night, every inch was counted for, every
:06:48. > :06:52.tackle was painful. Blood and everything in that game. Not a
:06:53. > :06:56.massively skilful game with lots of things on show but for a purist
:06:57. > :07:02.fantastic game of rugby league with two sides, one happy today, the
:07:03. > :07:05.other feeling sorry for themselves. And it doesn't half give Hull belief
:07:06. > :07:08.for the rest of the season given that they are top of the Super
:07:09. > :07:13.League as well, and looking at a Challenge Cup Grand Final double.
:07:14. > :07:17.Their form has been good and their big players rock up at the best
:07:18. > :07:20.time. Gareth Ellis is pivotal to their performance, he steadied the
:07:21. > :07:25.ship. If he hadn't played I'm not sure they would have got over the
:07:26. > :07:27.line, it was that close. With the game breakers in their team it's
:07:28. > :07:32.bound to give them confidence moving through the rest of the season. They
:07:33. > :07:36.need to get their feedback down on Earth and get going forward in Super
:07:37. > :07:41.League. It's interesting with the tries. I thought Hull, in a 15
:07:42. > :07:45.minute period, they absorbed everything Wigan gave, and that's
:07:46. > :07:50.where they won it, having great resolve. And now would you expect
:07:51. > :07:54.them, I have not looked at the arts, but would you expect them to be
:07:55. > :07:57.favourites for the Challenge Cup, bearing in mind that last night they
:07:58. > :08:02.were third favourites for the trophy? If I was a bookie I wouldn't
:08:03. > :08:07.be stood here talking to you, would I? I'm not really sure about the
:08:08. > :08:12.odds. They have just made the Challenge Cup final. Top of Super
:08:13. > :08:15.League after 20 rounds. Do they deserve to be favourites? Of course
:08:16. > :08:21.they do. They are the best at this point in the season. But we will
:08:22. > :08:25.see, the other form team, Warrington, that could change the
:08:26. > :08:30.significantly on the day. Let's show you just what Warrington's form
:08:31. > :08:34.means as regards the Super League table. At the stage of the season
:08:35. > :08:40.where we are about to go into super eights. Warrington go into that in
:08:41. > :08:44.second place. Wakefield are in the super eights as well, having
:08:45. > :08:48.finished eighth. Now, they were languishing near the bottom of the
:08:49. > :08:52.table when head coach Chris Chester took over in March following his
:08:53. > :08:57.departure from Hull KR. And of course that was a Hull KR side that
:08:58. > :08:58.he led to last season's Challenge Cup final but that's a memory he
:08:59. > :09:11.wants to forget. Leads are running riot! Never before
:09:12. > :09:18.has a Challenge Cup final witnessed quite as emphatic victory and stand.
:09:19. > :09:24.A 50 point winning margin! There is a beaten man. The final, to this
:09:25. > :09:29.day, I have still not watched, I cannot bring myself to watch it.
:09:30. > :09:33.Tough day and it hurt like hell on Saturday at five o'clock and it
:09:34. > :09:39.still hurts now. That's made me want to go back again this year with this
:09:40. > :09:43.group of players. As I talk to you 80 minutes away from being back at
:09:44. > :09:48.Wembley, as a coach are you able to draw on that experience, albeit a
:09:49. > :09:54.horrible experience? There's certain things I've done different. On the
:09:55. > :09:58.day I don't think the preparation was as good as what it could have
:09:59. > :10:01.been. We are 80 minutes away from Wembley and if that is not
:10:02. > :10:06.motivation enough, they should not be playing this game. The turnaround
:10:07. > :10:12.has been remarkable from where Wakefield were, almost out of Super
:10:13. > :10:16.League. How on earth has that happened? I knew when I took on the
:10:17. > :10:19.job that we had a good group of players, just a matter of getting
:10:20. > :10:26.these guys to believe in themselves a little bit more. No fear of
:10:27. > :10:29.failing out on the field, it's just getting them to express themselves a
:10:30. > :10:34.bit more and play with some confidence and some passion. They
:10:35. > :10:39.have certainly done that in the last 12 to 14 weeks. So, this semifinal,
:10:40. > :10:45.do you have players to hurt Warrington? We are confident. The
:10:46. > :10:49.pressure is off. Super League status secure for another 12 months so we
:10:50. > :10:54.can go and enjoy ourselves. We have been written off already in the
:10:55. > :10:58.press but my guys have been written off every game this year and we've
:10:59. > :11:02.proved a few people wrong. Hopefully we can prove a few people run on
:11:03. > :11:06.Saturday. Leading Wakefield to Wembley, would that be a bigger
:11:07. > :11:10.achievement than what you did at Hull KR? It would certainly be my
:11:11. > :11:15.proudest achievement, being a Wakefield lad as well. I understand
:11:16. > :11:21.what the club has been through over the last ten to 15 years. So to walk
:11:22. > :11:25.Wakefield, my hometown club, out at Wembley, would be a great
:11:26. > :11:29.achievement, for my friends and family, and the great supporters
:11:30. > :11:33.that have followed this club through thick and thin. STUDIO: He talks
:11:34. > :11:36.about having to give what he found a good group of players greater
:11:37. > :11:42.belief, is it as simple as that, how he turned it round? I am sure there
:11:43. > :11:45.are things he has done in practice, his own ideas. Certainly galvanising
:11:46. > :11:49.the team and getting them to believe in themselves is a huge challenge in
:11:50. > :11:53.this day and age but however he has done that he has done it. No doubt
:11:54. > :11:58.they are a different team to the team he took over. He has certainly
:11:59. > :12:02.encapsulated that with them. He talks about removing the fear of
:12:03. > :12:06.failure, does that mean players being scared to try something they
:12:07. > :12:11.otherwise might, if they were in a higher placed side? Most coaches
:12:12. > :12:14.were about being fearless with your approach to how you practice and
:12:15. > :12:18.what you want to get out of the game. The anxiety around again at
:12:19. > :12:25.the bottom, the pressures put on them from their coach motherboard
:12:26. > :12:29.and fans, can play a big part. If he has stripped away that, which it
:12:30. > :12:32.looks like he has, this is a good group of players. They have
:12:33. > :12:36.recruited well in the off-season and brought a good group of players
:12:37. > :12:39.together. Chris has galvanised it and let them go out and play. They
:12:40. > :12:44.have shocked people by winning games they should not have won this year.
:12:45. > :12:53.Dennis has been relishing the next question I am going to ask. Why do
:12:54. > :12:59.you get rid of him at Hull KR? He has a relaxed style of coaching.
:13:00. > :13:02.What he came up with year was not where it needed to be for Hull KR.
:13:03. > :13:09.I'm pleased it has worked out for him at Wakefield. The relaxed group
:13:10. > :13:13.of coaching suits that group. That's why you are seeing the players play
:13:14. > :13:17.to their potential. You always want to see a guy back in work. It's got
:13:18. > :13:21.to be the right man for the right club at the right time. Suddenly and
:13:22. > :13:26.he is the right man at the right time for Wakefield. Let's look at
:13:27. > :13:29.one of their players who is crucial and you would say has found himself
:13:30. > :13:34.at Wakefield, Jacob Miller. That's a good expression. He came over as an
:13:35. > :13:38.Australian schoolboy superstar and went to Hull FC with a lot of
:13:39. > :13:43.pressure and expectation and no facility to fail in anyway, shape or
:13:44. > :13:49.form. He has grown here. He goes in and out of the line. Great elusive
:13:50. > :13:54.running style. If he finds a willing runner he will find him near the
:13:55. > :13:58.line. He looks far more comfortable. He's more accomplished. He's more
:13:59. > :14:02.comfortable kicking the ball and I think Liam Finn has helped him. He
:14:03. > :14:07.has taken a bit of the responsibility away to organise the
:14:08. > :14:11.team. But he will look to pass. His biggest asset and facet of his play
:14:12. > :14:15.is he will take the line on, play for himself, find a chip kick. He
:14:16. > :14:23.can pass. His kicking game is superb. He will find the windows.
:14:24. > :14:27.Instinctive player. Follows the ball a lot, very busy. He enjoys the
:14:28. > :14:34.relaxed style Chris Chester has given him. He is flourishing in that
:14:35. > :14:38.role and that ethos of coaching. Well, let's talk to a man who is
:14:39. > :14:43.part of our commentary team today who is working for Wakefield next
:14:44. > :14:50.season, John Keogh will be the head of rugby. He is in the gantry. What
:14:51. > :14:55.will you look to do their next season to add to what they have done
:14:56. > :15:00.this year with Chris Chester? Yeah, well, it's simply a case of just
:15:01. > :15:03.adding value to whatever Chris has done. Whether on the training field,
:15:04. > :15:07.practice field, in the structures and systems off the field with the
:15:08. > :15:13.recruitment, team meetings or whatever. It will very much be a
:15:14. > :15:16.partnership and we will look to get the best out of this group of
:15:17. > :15:24.players but he's done a pretty good job already. So I don't know what
:15:25. > :15:28.he'll leave me! I was going to ask whether they actually needed you!
:15:29. > :15:34.But your relationship with Chris Chester is crucial, yes? It is. I
:15:35. > :15:37.have known Chris since he was a 16-year-old at an elite training
:15:38. > :15:41.camp when I was cutting my teeth in coaching. And I coached him at Hull
:15:42. > :15:47.FC when we had the great victory in 2005. Me and Crisco back a very long
:15:48. > :15:51.way. We are relaxed in each other's company. I believe he's an excellent
:15:52. > :15:55.coach and I think he trusts my abilities so I think it will be a
:15:56. > :16:02.great fit. But you can't think about that just yet, because you have
:16:03. > :16:04.Batley in the middle late. We have enjoyed every minute and we will
:16:05. > :16:12.enjoy every minute of the remaining season. Mark Noble will take us
:16:13. > :16:17.through the team. Max Jowitt gets the nod at full-back. Ben Jones
:16:18. > :16:25.Bishop and the speedster flying to Toronto next season, Craig Hall.
:16:26. > :16:29.Local boys Reece Lyne and Joe Arundel complete the three quarters.
:16:30. > :16:33.And here is where the game will be won and lost for Wakefield.
:16:34. > :16:36.Australian Jacob Miller on fire at the moment with the vastly
:16:37. > :16:42.experienced Liam Finn organising everything for the team. No stranger
:16:43. > :16:47.to Challenge Cup, Nick Scruton partners firebrand in the middle,
:16:48. > :16:55.Scott Moore, ex-Saint Helens and David defeated starts, a recruit
:16:56. > :17:03.from the Sharks. -- David Fifita. Jason Walton, the local product
:17:04. > :17:05.alongside Michael Sio. Another academy star, Jordan Crowther
:17:06. > :17:15.partner in the recent signing Andy Yates. Arona and Danny Kirmond,
:17:16. > :17:22.captain of this proud club, complete the bench. Jamie is a bit worried
:17:23. > :17:28.Jonny Wilkinson's trousers are so tight they might split if he joins
:17:29. > :17:31.in with the warm up. I'm getting a little bit of stick behind me from
:17:32. > :17:35.the Wakefield fans but that's expected. Brian Smith left this
:17:36. > :17:39.organisation in March, Chris Chester took over and everything became
:17:40. > :17:43.relaxed. Sometimes the key to getting the best out of your players
:17:44. > :17:47.is the environment you create. Some players who have really relish that
:17:48. > :17:53.is Liam Finn, half-back, he is a fantastic player. Dominates the ball
:17:54. > :17:57.for this Wakefield side. We've also got Jacob Miller, he has been an
:17:58. > :18:01.instinctive rugby player all his life and been fantastic for
:18:02. > :18:04.Wakefield. Thanks mate, it's been a good season. The boys are enjoying
:18:05. > :18:09.what we are doing and enjoying each other's company. Smiles on faces, a
:18:10. > :18:13.big day for Wakefield? It is massive for the city and the whole club. We
:18:14. > :18:20.know it's a massive occasion but we've got our hands full today. All
:18:21. > :18:24.the best, play well. A gentle jog and the seems just about held
:18:25. > :18:40.together. That move onto Warrington, a side full of big names.
:18:41. > :19:23.They are the big names in this Warrington squad. However no Kevin
:19:24. > :19:29.Penny today, he is missing. Brian will take you through the players
:19:30. > :19:32.playing. They will play and be brilliant, Stefan Ratchford at
:19:33. > :19:37.full-back. Third highest break in Super League. Matty Russell on one
:19:38. > :19:41.wing and Rhys Evans, the Welsh international, normally in the
:19:42. > :19:45.centre, moves out to the right-wing. In the centre is the young academy
:19:46. > :19:51.star Toby King partner in the fastly experienced veterinary napkins. And
:19:52. > :19:53.here's the runner. Kurt Gidley been brilliant since signing from
:19:54. > :20:00.Newcastle Knights alongside the mercurial Chris Sandow who will make
:20:01. > :20:04.it up from anywhere. A giant front row, England internationals Chris
:20:05. > :20:10.Hill and Daryl Clark, and Australia and Fiji international Ashton Sims.
:20:11. > :20:14.And what a fabulous speedy back row we have a Warrington, Ben Currie,
:20:15. > :20:18.Joe Westerman and Jack Hughes. Coming from the bench, brother of
:20:19. > :20:24.Toby King, George King, alongside the veteran six time Challenge Cup
:20:25. > :20:31.winner, Ryan Bailey. Ben Westwood and Brad Dwyer Compleat the bench.
:20:32. > :20:35.Robbie Hunter is with them as their warm up comes to an end.
:20:36. > :20:40.Just catching the guys as they walk back in, some of the best players in
:20:41. > :20:46.the competition. I'm going to grab Ashton Sims. Good luck today, do you
:20:47. > :20:51.think the game will be won or lost in the forwards? I reckon it will
:20:52. > :20:56.be. 20 of emotion, just like last night's game. Both teams are ready
:20:57. > :21:00.to go, let's do it. How exciting is it for the forward pack to get the
:21:01. > :21:03.opportunity to get to the final? We want to start on the front foot
:21:04. > :21:07.against a really good Wakefield team. We are ready to go, it's been
:21:08. > :21:12.a great week, and we are going to put that out on the paddock now. We
:21:13. > :21:17.had a discussion last night that for Warrington today in many ways they
:21:18. > :21:21.cannot win. Did you understand that when we were having that discussion
:21:22. > :21:24.last night? I think so. I understand what you are saying about hot
:21:25. > :21:32.favourites, all the superstars in that team. In one respect I would
:21:33. > :21:36.like to be Chris Chester saying, nobody has given us a chance, let's
:21:37. > :21:40.rock the world. I think they will be very ready. He can say that, Chris
:21:41. > :21:47.Chester, it's probably exactly what he said to his Hull KR side a year
:21:48. > :21:52.ago. He's been saying it all season. Let's be fearless, let's go out and
:21:53. > :21:55.play, what have we got to lose? Everybody thinks we will get knocked
:21:56. > :22:02.out, let's go out there fearless and go and play. But you can see a glint
:22:03. > :22:06.in their eyes. I spoke to Tony Smith before the game and they are ready.
:22:07. > :22:12.I think it's going to be a hard task for Wakefield. I agree, when you
:22:13. > :22:15.lose semifinal as overwhelming favourite it stays with you to the
:22:16. > :22:19.following year, and they have the chance to put that right. Does it
:22:20. > :22:24.stay with you in a positive sense? The herd of last year, you don't
:22:25. > :22:28.want to let it happen again, rather than the negative, blimey, we've
:22:29. > :22:30.been here before with yellow that's the way they will approach it, to
:22:31. > :22:39.give them Warrington have had bits in
:22:40. > :22:43.intensity throughout the year. If Wakefield play well they can score a
:22:44. > :22:47.few points. There is an old saying you've got to lose one to win one.
:22:48. > :22:51.Warrington have lost three, they know what it looks like to be in a
:22:52. > :22:55.Wembley final, they know what it tastes like. Kurt Gidley is a
:22:56. > :23:01.fantastic player. He's not played a lot of big games. He has only played
:23:02. > :23:08.in one play-off game for straight. This is a massive chance for him to
:23:09. > :23:12.push on into a final. Let's look at the relationship between Gidley and
:23:13. > :23:14.Sandow. The best half-backs partnership in the competition.
:23:15. > :23:19.Sandow will run all the time. Any time you seems a forward isolated he
:23:20. > :23:26.will take off. He is absolutely electrifying. It is the forward in
:23:27. > :23:30.space that is the problem, isolated. If you see Sandow score today, you
:23:31. > :23:35.will see space around the player. His kicking game is absolutely
:23:36. > :23:40.outstanding. Now, Kurt Gidley is different altogether. He is the glue
:23:41. > :23:45.between the side. He takes them round the pitch. He'll decide what
:23:46. > :23:50.style and tempo of the game will be. He's the perfect foil to Sandow and
:23:51. > :23:55.an outstanding player as well. I agree, the partnership they have
:23:56. > :23:59.together, his kicking game is meticulous and compliments Sandow.
:24:00. > :24:09.He is an individual target kick. But they will find them and also find a
:24:10. > :24:12.pass. He's very strong, Gidley. Great tactician, understands the
:24:13. > :24:19.game and understands what needs to be done. Somebody to guide them
:24:20. > :24:24.round the field. When they brought in Kurt Gidley they found somebody.
:24:25. > :24:28.He barks at the players, pushes them where he wants them. Doesn't do a
:24:29. > :24:32.lot of flash stuff but puts the team where they are supposed to be. It
:24:33. > :24:36.was fascinating when we had him on the player microphone against
:24:37. > :24:42.Widnes. It gave as a completely different perspective. It shows our
:24:43. > :24:47.viewers particularly how important those types of players are, and
:24:48. > :24:52.their communication. He would be the guy saying, you need to be over
:24:53. > :24:59.there, Chapman you don't need to be on the pitch, Dennis needs to run on
:25:00. > :25:02.this side of me. You were like that. The thought of having to play rugby
:25:03. > :25:09.with any of you three just scares me. The Warrington head coach now.
:25:10. > :25:14.Fighting, fit, fresh and ready to go. Not personally, but your teen?
:25:15. > :25:20.They are, they are in good shape after a good week. Good build-up so
:25:21. > :25:24.far, we have enjoyed our week. We did not pick up any injuries in the
:25:25. > :25:30.past week so that's always good. We are pretty much unchanged. When it's
:25:31. > :25:35.Wembley or bust, as it is in semifinals, what are those occasions
:25:36. > :25:38.like on the day? It's exciting. It's handling that pressure. Everybody
:25:39. > :25:43.knows the ramifications of a good and bad performance. We want to put
:25:44. > :25:46.out our best performance but it is pressure, you know. It's how you
:25:47. > :25:50.handle that pressure and how that converts into what you do out on the
:25:51. > :25:55.park. But it's still a game of rugby league. And it's the team who
:25:56. > :25:58.handles that pressure and those situations the best that gets
:25:59. > :26:03.through on these sorts of occasions. We are looking forward to it and
:26:04. > :26:04.excited about it. Queen you are massive odds on favourite according
:26:05. > :26:14.to the you are massive odds-on favourite,
:26:15. > :26:17.is that the burden? We will just go home, then! Sport in general is down
:26:18. > :26:21.to the best team on the day. It doesn't matter who is fancied, there
:26:22. > :26:25.have always been underdogs who come up and have wings and all that
:26:26. > :26:29.business. We are not concerned about what the bookmakers or punters are
:26:30. > :26:33.doing. We will do our best for each other and for our supporters. We are
:26:34. > :26:38.going to have great support out there today. We will make it feel
:26:39. > :26:42.like a home game. Doesn't really matter what people predict or not,
:26:43. > :26:46.it's a game of rugby league and you've got to go out parent to the
:26:47. > :26:52.business. Thank you, good luck. They've obviously had their final
:26:53. > :26:55.chat, Jamie Peacock. We'll Tony Smith have mentioned previously
:26:56. > :26:59.final heard? That might have been built up during the week but now it
:27:00. > :27:06.is about focusing on here and now, and how to deal with Wakefield
:27:07. > :27:10.threats. They are used to play under expectations and pressure, they are
:27:11. > :27:14.one of the top sides in rugby league. I don't think he will have
:27:15. > :27:19.mentioned it today. The focus might have been at the start of the week,
:27:20. > :27:23.the players might have mentioned it. But I think the focus will be
:27:24. > :27:28.putting their best show of the season out at this time. How do
:27:29. > :27:34.Wakefield start this game? What is crucial in the first 15 to 20
:27:35. > :27:39.minutes? They have to start well. What you need is error-free rugby
:27:40. > :27:45.for a period of time. Pushed the ball into the right positions, don't
:27:46. > :27:48.miss tackles. The game will unfold. If your front row dropped the ball,
:27:49. > :27:54.if you're half does not put the right kick in, you are under
:27:55. > :28:00.pressure. Then you are having to play catch up. I am excited about
:28:01. > :28:03.today. Full stadium, semifinal, you are about to do what you are great
:28:04. > :28:08.at doing, playing rugby. Can't think of a better thing to do for
:28:09. > :28:12.Wakefield or a Warrington player. Are you missing this? Just a little
:28:13. > :28:18.bit. You mean you would rather be out there playing rugby than stood
:28:19. > :28:22.there talking to myself and Dennis? How do you see it before we go to
:28:23. > :28:28.the commentary team? Warrington will be too strong. Wakefield will have
:28:29. > :28:35.two Compleat at a high rate and kick well to have any chance. Warrington
:28:36. > :28:39.and the way they play, pressure and pressure. If they keep all the ball,
:28:40. > :28:43.you have to score points because Warrington will score points today.
:28:44. > :28:47.The teams are out. Hull waiting in the final at Wembley. This is the
:28:48. > :28:58.second semifinal in the Challenge Cup. To the commentary team.
:28:59. > :29:01.COMMENTATOR: Familiar moment of high tension for Warrington. Fifth
:29:02. > :29:06.consecutive Challenge Cup semifinal. But the last three have all ended in
:29:07. > :29:10.heartbreak. Wakefield have been making a habit of smashing through
:29:11. > :29:19.blast ceilings this season. On course for the highest. Could they
:29:20. > :29:25.be on their way to Wembley for the first time in 37 years? Well, they
:29:26. > :29:34.looked reasonably relaxed, don't they? In the line-up. One piece of
:29:35. > :29:39.team news that will not be a free assurance to their fans is the fact
:29:40. > :29:47.that their captain, Danny Kirmond, is only on the bench. But they look
:29:48. > :29:51.confident. There does not seem to be an element of nervousness. What
:29:52. > :29:54.about Chris Chester? Hoping to join an exclusive list of coaches to take
:29:55. > :30:04.two different teams to a Wembley final. Warrington today have Stefan
:30:05. > :30:07.Ratchford in. He was taken off as a precaution with a head injury
:30:08. > :30:13.against Huddersfield last week but returns. Gidley, a high-class
:30:14. > :30:18.runner, who steers this side around. Chris Sandow, with mercurial magic,
:30:19. > :30:25.given half a chance. Tom Johnstone, the eye-catching winner, missing.
:30:26. > :30:29.Matty Ashurst tempted to play with a broken jaw but he doesn't. Danny
:30:30. > :30:31.Kirmond only on the bench today, which suggests he is carrying an
:30:32. > :30:53.injury. Gareth Heuer is our referee today.
:30:54. > :30:59.This game has a lot to live up to after last night's semifinal where
:31:00. > :31:03.we saw blood and thunder for 80 units. Ashton Sims has started with
:31:04. > :31:12.a lot of thunder. Let us get the early thoughts from John and John.
:31:13. > :31:20.They will be happy with that, Warrington Wolves. They need to look
:31:21. > :31:32.after the ball in this early part and a good kick. Sandow is one of
:31:33. > :31:45.the exciting players. I think it is 40-20. I think it was.
:31:46. > :31:54.Chris Sandow is renowned for that. What a great start for Warrington in
:31:55. > :32:03.this Challenge Cup semifinal. Fantastic. Wakefield haven't touched
:32:04. > :32:14.the ball yet. Another set of six to defend here. Intense scrutiny. Yes,
:32:15. > :32:19.15 metres away from your own line. A full set of six to defend. Welcome
:32:20. > :32:27.to semifinal rugby league. This could be an exciting game. Wakefield
:32:28. > :32:36.are suggesting they have the fight and pedigree. This is a big couple
:32:37. > :32:49.of tackles. Less than ten away. Across the Commons. He'd leave. --
:32:50. > :32:55.Gidley. Sandow with a little step back on the right foot. Eventually
:32:56. > :33:07.they make the tackle complete. They have survived for, what about the
:33:08. > :33:21.next two? Westerman still driving. At dummy half. A roar of relief.
:33:22. > :33:26.There are questions over the defence for Wakefield. They have missed more
:33:27. > :33:34.tackles than anyone in this super league season, but a great start
:33:35. > :33:52.with the defending line. It's interesting to see. There is David
:33:53. > :34:04.Fifita. Liam Finn has Wembley experience. He played for Castleford
:34:05. > :34:14.in 2015 in the final. His halfback partner played in the 2013 final.
:34:15. > :34:23.Ratchford has lost the ball. The referee says it is not on. Finger in
:34:24. > :34:33.the air. A bonus for Wakefield. It is Warrington's turn to answer the
:34:34. > :34:35.questions regarding resolve. Ratchford has a responsibility to
:34:36. > :34:44.look after the ball in the collision. When you look at this
:34:45. > :34:48.game, before I came here today, I thought the only way Wakefield could
:34:49. > :34:59.win is to take advantage of Warrington's Everest. That is a
:35:00. > :35:03.simple handling error. An opportunity for Wakefield to attack
:35:04. > :35:06.after a positive start. A good platform from which to build. Scott
:35:07. > :35:28.Moore goes light. He has the man isolated. The opening
:35:29. > :35:39.try! Craig Hall scores. The referee gives it an Wakefield have the dream
:35:40. > :35:48.start to this semifinal. What a fantastic try. Wakefield's first
:35:49. > :35:51.opportunity and they took for opportunity in releasing Craig Hall
:35:52. > :36:00.for that try down the left-hand side. This is the error from
:36:01. > :36:03.Ratchford. Great work from more macro. What a peach of a pass from
:36:04. > :36:28.Jacob Miller. -- more a magnificent start for the
:36:29. > :36:48.Wakefield Trinity side. Liam Finn with a chance to add the
:36:49. > :36:55.two. He is an outstanding player in the championship, year after year.
:36:56. > :36:59.Given his chance when he was signed for Castleford. His last three or
:37:00. > :37:09.four years in the super league, he really has taken that opportunity. A
:37:10. > :37:17.good kick from the touchline. A terrific kick from the touchline.
:37:18. > :37:22.Wakefield lead 6-0. If you want your nerve settling, that is the way to
:37:23. > :37:30.do it. Tremendous defence online and as soon as you get the opportunity,
:37:31. > :37:37.marvellous attacking. There may be a question over the past from the
:37:38. > :37:44.Wakefield fans, but not from the man who it is most important too. There
:37:45. > :37:46.has been an element of disbelief regarding Wakefield's season.
:37:47. > :37:56.Everyone expected them to finish rock bottom. They have climbed the
:37:57. > :38:09.table with some real eye-catching games.
:38:10. > :38:15.36-28th at Bellevue, which underlined the pedigree. There have
:38:16. > :38:21.been some seeds of doubt in the Warrington side with three defeats
:38:22. > :38:26.on the bounce. When you have such expectation on you, it is crippling.
:38:27. > :38:30.I think Scott Moore has been outstanding. Really smart with a
:38:31. > :38:40.dummy half and Wakefield have been positive with the ball. Putting
:38:41. > :38:47.Warrington into bad spots. They are not where they want to be six
:38:48. > :38:50.minutes into the semifinal. A penalty for Warrington which should
:38:51. > :38:56.see them starting the set close to the halfway line. Defensively
:38:57. > :39:05.Wakefield have been spot on until then. That has just given Warrington
:39:06. > :39:12.easy yards up the pitch, so they have a good attacking sets. Ryan
:39:13. > :39:29.Atkins, who was once a Wakefield player, of course. Taken on by Chris
:39:30. > :39:34.Hill. Closer and closer to the line. Ratchford was hunting just on the
:39:35. > :39:39.outside, but they get another penalty. Too much going on in the
:39:40. > :39:45.tackle. This is where differences are tested. A little bit of pressure
:39:46. > :39:54.doesn't do anything, but sustained pressure kills at this level. Here
:39:55. > :40:10.is Clarke. Gidley has gone wide to the right.
:40:11. > :40:20.The ball is not down, the referee says play on. Reece Lyne. The
:40:21. > :40:32.referee will call him back for a knock-on. Reece Lyne was getting all
:40:33. > :40:46.excited, so we'll wait, but it meant nothing. Two Noppon 's. -- knock-on
:40:47. > :40:53.is. That could have been a free play. Good instinctive response from
:40:54. > :41:00.Reece Lyne. Warrington get the ball again. The people at home, if you
:41:01. > :41:06.watch the difference between Gidley and Sandow, Sandow plays of the back
:41:07. > :41:34.of Gidley's organisational skills. Second row position. Ratchford.
:41:35. > :41:44.Westerman and Hill. Hill is close, but not enough. Westerman again. He
:41:45. > :41:52.eventually comes out. Westerman to Ratchford. Where is this going? It
:41:53. > :42:00.is a tap back on the 20 metre mark. Waste filled -- Wakefield are just
:42:01. > :42:04.growing and growing. They looked comfortable and assured and
:42:05. > :42:11.confident. It was a poor kick from Sandow in my opinion. He needs to
:42:12. > :42:17.give the chaser is a chance to attack the ball. A good start for
:42:18. > :42:21.Wakefield. As a coach, you would be happy with this? You can see the
:42:22. > :42:31.belief growing. It is growing and growing and growing. Sio struggles
:42:32. > :42:44.to his feet. Somehow got the ball away to Reece Lyne. Miller will be
:42:45. > :42:51.hoping he is onside. He has knocked it on. Miller just let up. The
:42:52. > :42:55.referee says backwards. He says backwards. Whether it is backwards
:42:56. > :43:01.or not, it is a nasty ball to collect. The flight of the ball was
:43:02. > :43:06.affected and Jacob Miller went across his eye line. They will be
:43:07. > :43:13.fortunate to get away with that. Jacob Miller may have given us the
:43:14. > :43:24.insight into what tactics should be used. Twice Warrington have gone
:43:25. > :43:28.down. Conditions are good for catches, not a lot of wind. Maybe
:43:29. > :43:38.going into the air will be the technique to use today. Sandow puts
:43:39. > :43:45.it higher. Not scared to go inside. Jow it has played at Wembley before
:43:46. > :43:55.in a score final. Yes seven. There is an opportunity to test them
:43:56. > :44:06.again. Craig Hall is on his way to Toronto next year.
:44:07. > :44:15.Wakefield deep inside their own half if they can. There is a man that
:44:16. > :44:22.carries a lot of weight. Wakefield are not renowned for coming out of
:44:23. > :44:35.yardage. As a result, Ratchford is in positions he probably would not
:44:36. > :44:38.want to be in. The head coach and first-team coach together. They have
:44:39. > :44:53.a chance of winning a treble this year. Trying to off-load, but can't.
:44:54. > :45:05.Clark washes in at dummy half. It looks like Reece Lyne was
:45:06. > :45:09.off-balance. It is OK. Here comes the last. Wakefield again are close
:45:10. > :45:15.to their own line as Warrington looked to apply the pressure again.
:45:16. > :45:24.Evans gets there, just carries it forward. And Wakefield survive
:45:25. > :45:32.again. Yes, they do, but that was a contested ball in the air. Although
:45:33. > :45:42.Evans did not claim it, once it is in the air, it is 15-50. -- 50-50.
:45:43. > :45:48.If it is on the ground, it favours the defensive players. You can have
:45:49. > :45:56.a poor sets, but you can put a good kick in with a great chaser and
:45:57. > :46:05.finish nicely and get a great result. Quite a bit of yardage here.
:46:06. > :46:14.Hall has kept it alive well enough. They have restricted the Wakefield
:46:15. > :46:20.side, this set of six. It was needed. They need to be aggressive
:46:21. > :46:26.with the yardage and they have done that. We have got a doctor on the
:46:27. > :46:33.field at the moment, so the referee is going to hold things up just a
:46:34. > :46:46.minute whilst Toby King gets seen to. There is one of the greats. 6268
:46:47. > :47:00.points in his career. He played the 20 years and played 30 matches every
:47:01. > :47:06.year and scored ten points. Some 3-point tries as well. Here comes
:47:07. > :47:28.Evans, the Welshman. Running it back. Ratchford and now Ashton sins.
:47:29. > :47:40.-- Ashton Sims. They can turn this around in the flickering of an eye.
:47:41. > :47:45.A couple of tackles to go. Hughes is trying to force his way over. He is
:47:46. > :47:51.over the line, but I think he is going to be held up. The referee is
:47:52. > :47:56.asking a question here, I think. He thinks it is a try. We had to find
:47:57. > :48:08.out from the video referee, so let us hear for the first time today
:48:09. > :48:16.from Phil Bentham. Yes, that is great, thank you.
:48:17. > :48:28.It looks like the ball is down there.
:48:29. > :48:38.Yes, let us just keep looking at that. Just take it back one frame.
:48:39. > :48:47.We can see the ball. It is on the ground. Confirmed the referee's
:48:48. > :48:52.decision of a try. So Jack Hughes has not been involved in any
:48:53. > :48:58.Warrington's recent heartbreaks. New to the side this year and he gets
:48:59. > :49:06.his side's first try. Fantastic principles of played by Gidley. He
:49:07. > :49:11.knew he was going to play on to get at Miller. Not renowned for his
:49:12. > :49:19.defensive strength. You put a big man like Jack Hughes on Miller, it
:49:20. > :49:25.will be a one on one situation. Near the line you are looking to put in a
:49:26. > :49:33.try score. That is the kind of instinctive play that has been
:49:34. > :49:39.brought to this side. Game smarts, gain intelligence. Kurt Gidley has
:49:40. > :49:55.brought that back. We are all square. Exploits appease -- six
:49:56. > :50:00.points apiece. For me there is enough Wakefield defenders there to
:50:01. > :50:06.make a better attempt than that. The other thing as well, that was a
:50:07. > :50:09.reward for Warrington's best defensive set against Wakefield's
:50:10. > :50:16.yardage. They got the ball back in the right part of the field. You are
:50:17. > :50:20.right about the defensive line. You would be dying to go and help
:50:21. > :50:30.Miller. What news from the touchline? Just an injury update on
:50:31. > :50:36.Toby King. There was a smash to the jaw. They look to see if it was
:50:37. > :50:40.broken or dislocated, but it is fine. He is a big boy, he is still
:50:41. > :50:48.out there and he will carry on. Robbie, you have something to tell
:50:49. > :51:04.us? Debbie Fifita was brought off after 30 minutes. -- David Fifita.
:51:05. > :51:09.Stable play in yardage. You are in trouble against Warrington when
:51:10. > :51:15.Daryl Clark is busy. Running out a dummy half and that is what he was
:51:16. > :51:21.brought here to do. Really found his feet this season, Daryl Clark, after
:51:22. > :51:36.a year of settling in. Sat down now with a little scamper and a run.
:51:37. > :51:48.Atkins waits at Tommy Haas, Sims. -- at dummy half. Was just getting up
:51:49. > :52:00.and had his feet pulled. The momentum has shifted towards
:52:01. > :52:09.Warrington. Kurt Gidley, made a non-field decision. He wants to get
:52:10. > :52:18.to Wembley. The good carry from Jack Hughes. Scott Moore was clinging on
:52:19. > :52:26.for life. If you let Jack Hughes plays quickly, it is more than
:52:27. > :52:31.likely going to end in a try. Just turned 34, Kurt Gidley and rugby
:52:32. > :52:37.league is full of family ties. He has a family story in the Challenge
:52:38. > :52:42.Cup. His brother played for Saint Helens in the 2007 and 2008
:52:43. > :52:53.Challenge Cup. A team-mate of yours? Yes. We had a couple of beers with
:52:54. > :53:06.Kurt Gidley. He relishes playing in the game. 90 minutes played and over
:53:07. > :53:11.it goes. 8-6. Warrington now lead Wakefield. They really have come
:53:12. > :53:22.back into the game, the Warrington Wolves. The first ten minutes were
:53:23. > :53:31.Warrington's -- Wakefield's, but the last 20 minutes belonged to
:53:32. > :53:40.Warrington. They have just got the better side of things in the last
:53:41. > :53:45.ten minutes. They need to get back at that chasing Wakefield pack here
:53:46. > :54:17.comes Matty Rosol. -- Matty Rosol. Here comes Currie, one of the bright
:54:18. > :54:29.young things in rugby. So much expected from him. They chase by
:54:30. > :54:38.Sandow. Ben Jones-Bishop. I think there is a bit of energy drain. They
:54:39. > :54:51.are having to go wide in their own red zone. There is a big hole
:54:52. > :55:02.running through this Wakefield side. When you look at the likes of Reece
:55:03. > :55:07.Lyne, Miller, Arundel. Finn will kick the ball away, but Ratchford is
:55:08. > :55:22.well placed. That is the problem when you click on the last tackle.
:55:23. > :55:39.Very difficult. A skip and a jump by Russell. Evans will lead again. The
:55:40. > :55:44.outside back is doing the job. Here comes Atkins, twice a Wembley winner
:55:45. > :55:57.with Warrington. Sandow puts the kick in. It's covered by
:55:58. > :56:14.jow it -- Jowitt. Looking off-camera, they need to get some
:56:15. > :56:24.oxygen in the lungs. That it was. A second effort from Russell and lousy
:56:25. > :56:30.stoppage in play. They need to draw breath and regroup an attempt to get
:56:31. > :56:33.back into the game. It was the wrong decision from Sandow to kick the
:56:34. > :56:45.ball earlier, but fantastic pull-back from Jowitt. The real
:56:46. > :56:54.pressure reliever, wasn't it. There is Miller. Well met by Toby King.
:56:55. > :57:05.Wakefield struggling to find distance. The ball has come loose.
:57:06. > :57:16.It is dropped, said the referee makes a decision. He looked straight
:57:17. > :57:24.across at the touch judge. You can see from the replay, both of them
:57:25. > :57:41.worked in cohesion and came up with the right decision. We can hear from
:57:42. > :57:44.George Riley again. Danny Kirmond doesn't look fit and I will be
:57:45. > :57:50.surprised if he plays more than 15 minutes today. If he was fit, he
:57:51. > :57:53.would have started because he is such an important facet to that
:57:54. > :58:00.Wakefield side, who are under pressure at the moment. 8-6 they
:58:01. > :58:11.lead, but a suggestion of more to come just at the moment. Atkins.
:58:12. > :58:18.More tackles to go. Here is Clark. Westerman away. Inside ball from
:58:19. > :58:33.Gidley to Sandow. Well read by Wakefield. Crop goes away and Daryl
:58:34. > :58:36.Clark and a dummy half. Passed the Wakefield defenders and Warrington
:58:37. > :58:42.are building something now. They are building things on the lack of
:58:43. > :58:48.speed. They have gone very direct. They have thrown out the shift
:58:49. > :58:53.shapes. It certainly is playing off at this moment in time. Warrington
:58:54. > :59:00.topped the tables on a couple of things. One is Tommy Haas. Obviously
:59:01. > :59:07.the drop ball which is a big error by Wakefield. Off the back of that
:59:08. > :59:25.clock runs out of dummy half to score. Once again, the line was not
:59:26. > :59:36.set. Jowitt was received in -- was going back. Daryl Clark has grown
:59:37. > :59:39.into himself. In the first year you were not seeing lots of dummy
:59:40. > :59:47.running from him which ironic because he was brought in to do
:59:48. > :00:00.that. Also to make breaks and score for his team. So here is Gidley a
:00:01. > :00:07.game. Picture of concentration. Two successes so far. This will make it
:00:08. > :00:09.three out of three. Up go the flags in unison to confirm that Warrington
:00:10. > :00:23.now leads by 14-6. They are full value for it. Clark
:00:24. > :00:31.taking full advantage. He's picked the big man with space around him,
:00:32. > :00:36.he has done equally well, got his nose to the defensive line and
:00:37. > :00:41.through he goes. Warning signs are here, aren't they? Warning signs are
:00:42. > :00:48.here for Wakefield. They need something here. Here is Hill. They
:00:49. > :00:53.need a Warrington error or something. It can be anything. In a
:00:54. > :00:57.game like this you are looking for one of your players to do something
:00:58. > :01:00.special. You need the ball, possession, territory and all these
:01:01. > :01:08.words that define a good performance. Apart from that start
:01:09. > :01:14.they really haven't. 65-35 possession, 71-29 territory,
:01:15. > :01:19.powerful stats. Couple that with dummy half runs, 12 from Warrington.
:01:20. > :01:24.There's another from Clark, threatening to get Ratchford on his
:01:25. > :01:31.way. Last play in the set. Gidley puts it behind the line, job to do
:01:32. > :01:37.for Hall. Dropped behind the sticks, Warrington are turning the screw
:01:38. > :01:41.tighter and tighter. The Wakefield fans are up on their feet behind the
:01:42. > :01:47.sticks, they know their side need a semifinal lift. They've all got up
:01:48. > :01:52.there, man, woman and child. To shout out the name of their heroes.
:01:53. > :01:57.Because they know this is another massive set of six coming up here.
:01:58. > :02:04.It's a great atmosphere, it really is. Packed stadium, full of noise,
:02:05. > :02:05.colour, vibrancy. Some great stuff out on the field. Especially from
:02:06. > :02:28.the Warrington Wolves. Here is Curry. Atkins stepping
:02:29. > :02:35.inside. Clark. Wants to get on with it, here. Gidley along to Hill
:02:36. > :02:41.again. Sandow puts it back, Hughes over the top, Evans walks in him at
:02:42. > :02:47.right corner. Warrington have their third successive tri- without
:02:48. > :02:52.response. Without meaningful response from Wakefield. They are
:02:53. > :03:00.taking this cup tie by the scruff of the neck. Left edge, the left edge
:03:01. > :03:05.in defence. Having a tough defence. Three tries conceded. Warrington
:03:06. > :03:09.setting up on this side of the field to go back at them all day. Chris
:03:10. > :03:14.Hill wanted the ball out the back early to Sandow, Jack Hughes. For a
:03:15. > :03:20.back row to throw that ball is a fantastic piece of skill. Both
:03:21. > :03:26.Warrington back rowers can do this. But great play, great ball. And a
:03:27. > :03:31.great finish. Really was an outstanding try. Warrington have
:03:32. > :03:36.been direct to earn the right to shift wide. That's exactly what they
:03:37. > :03:39.did. More numbers than Wakefield, executed perfectly to get them on
:03:40. > :03:45.the outside. Rhys Evans going over in the corner. He's a great story,
:03:46. > :03:48.him and his brother Ben Evans caught the rugby league tie when they were
:03:49. > :03:55.playing a curtain raiser to the 2005 cup final in Cardiff with a school
:03:56. > :04:01.site. Warrington side them up, they moved north, and boy, has that been
:04:02. > :04:09.a great move? Rhys Evans could be going back to play against Hull in a
:04:10. > :04:13.Challenge Cup final. By the way, if anyone has picked up any colourful
:04:14. > :04:17.language pitch side that our very sensitive microphones picked up, we
:04:18. > :04:22.do apologise. It's not coming from up here. At least we don't think so.
:04:23. > :04:28.There's the kick that just goes wide. So, 18-6. The interesting
:04:29. > :04:32.thing, Warrington have gone through Wakefield. Jack Hughes scored a try.
:04:33. > :04:37.I've gone through again with Daryl Clark. Wakefield as a result have
:04:38. > :04:42.tightened up, been more aggressive. And then Warrington throw the long
:04:43. > :04:47.ball, go around them. They are toying with the Wakefield defence of
:04:48. > :04:53.lying on the left-hand side. They are going to have a tough day, you
:04:54. > :04:55.can tell. For the last 18 minutes it has been near-perfect semifinal
:04:56. > :05:00.rugby league from the Warrington Wolves side. What do you do as a
:05:01. > :05:04.coach here to get your team out of this rut? Your team has got to
:05:05. > :05:07.defend this set of six, the big one, and actually get the ball in hand
:05:08. > :05:13.and just come up with a positive end after that. By the way, look at the
:05:14. > :05:18.tackles. Wakefield have made 63 to Warrington's 35. That's burning
:05:19. > :05:24.energy, that's all Wakefield are doing. Body language is not great.
:05:25. > :05:27.Making too many tackles. You put the territory stats in amongst it and it
:05:28. > :05:34.is not a pretty picture being painted. Here is Currie. Six-pack or
:05:35. > :05:38.coming up here. Sandow will look for the touchline or at least put it in
:05:39. > :05:45.the corner and make it difficult. Sandow leading the chase. Anyway he
:05:46. > :05:51.has made the tackle. Wakefield have to do all this hard labour from
:05:52. > :05:56.inside their own ten metres again. Sandow once the ball in play. It is
:05:57. > :05:59.Warrington with all the energy, Wakefield struggling to get back
:06:00. > :06:05.behind the ball. They need the ball in play, Warrington Wolves. The most
:06:06. > :06:09.worrisome sign for Wakefield at this point of time is the amount of
:06:10. > :06:14.yardage Warrington is getting on the field. After the Clark try, 90
:06:15. > :06:19.metres. Here is a chance! Suddenly the break is on! But it's going to
:06:20. > :06:26.be stopped. Walton gets the ball away. This is a tackle Wakefield
:06:27. > :06:35.needed. Miller is up at dummy half. Oh, no! It is kicked, Ratchford
:06:36. > :06:41.saves it. That's just naivete from the young player. All they need to
:06:42. > :06:46.do, just play at the space. All it needed to do was go through the
:06:47. > :06:50.hands, there were gaps are plenty. Plenty of holes in the Warrington
:06:51. > :06:54.defensive unstructured. The wrong kick from Jowitt, the young
:06:55. > :07:00.full-back. What a great piece of play to put Walton through the gap.
:07:01. > :07:06.The key to unlocking Warrington, some of that instinctive play around
:07:07. > :07:21.dummy half. Sandow just threatening the kick. And now Evans on the
:07:22. > :07:32.right-hand side. Awkward bounce. Ben Jones Bishop. Well marshalled. So we
:07:33. > :07:35.are going to see an interchange made by Wakefield, and that significant
:07:36. > :07:40.because Danny Kirmond is coming on for the very first time, ten minutes
:07:41. > :07:51.before the break. Nine minutes, then a breather. Then a bit more, maybe.
:07:52. > :07:55.Play on. Came off the ankle. So Danny Kirmond's first effort is
:07:56. > :08:00.clutching to take that forward pass from Scott Moore. And it's just
:08:01. > :08:04.given possession back to Warrington. I think there is an element of
:08:05. > :08:08.fatigue in Nantes. He's been out there from minute one. It was a
:08:09. > :08:15.tired decision, retired pass. The ball kick from Jowitt. That's a
:08:16. > :08:20.momentum killer. Chris Chester saw it, he felt momentum was with him.
:08:21. > :08:24.That's disappointing for a coach. Wakefield threw Scott Moore have got
:08:25. > :08:27.something in the middle of the field to challenge Warrington. The issue
:08:28. > :08:30.is getting possession, getting the ball in the right parts of the field
:08:31. > :08:35.to put the Warrington defence of line under pressure. Tony Smith will
:08:36. > :08:40.be really happy with this last 20 minutes. Definitely. The best way of
:08:41. > :08:44.defusing Scott Moore would be to keep hammering this middle channel.
:08:45. > :08:49.Keep Scott Moore defending, working in defence, it will take the edge
:08:50. > :08:59.off his attacking play. Tire him out. Here's King. He's a cracking
:09:00. > :09:10.player, is Jack Hughes. He was at Wigan, wasn't he? Westwood. Veteran
:09:11. > :09:16.of three Challenge Cup finals with Warrington. Long-time Warrington,
:09:17. > :09:20.started his career at Wakefield. That was a long time ago, wasn't it?
:09:21. > :09:26.This is good pressure again here from Warrington. Clark, Gidley,
:09:27. > :09:36.Westerman has a look and puts it back to Ryan Bailey. Big dummy by
:09:37. > :09:46.Westerman, and the kick pins of shins. Still the six tackle. Hughes
:09:47. > :09:50.tries the kick. Going to be picked up by Wakefield and they get a
:09:51. > :09:59.penalty as well, so a chance to clear their lines. They are losing
:10:00. > :10:04.the energy battle in the middle of the park. Game management, kick the
:10:05. > :10:08.ball out, slow it right down and dictate the play. At the moment
:10:09. > :10:15.Warrington are marching them up the field ensuring out too much energy.
:10:16. > :10:20.George? Fascinating to see Danny Kirmond come on. We said it might
:10:21. > :10:24.not be more than 15 minutes. It is one of those free interchanges.
:10:25. > :10:27.Jordan Crowther took a head shot. Ryan Atkins saw it straightaway and
:10:28. > :10:36.beckoned to the referee to say it was a head injury. He has gone down
:10:37. > :10:42.the tunnel to be assessed. Here is Finn. Lots coming up in this game
:10:43. > :10:49.yet but afterwards you can join us on the website, not the red button,
:10:50. > :11:01.the Rugby league forum. Get in touch in the usual manner.
:11:02. > :11:12.Wakefield still have a big say in this contest. And another injury.
:11:13. > :11:17.Delicate kick down the short side. He felt as though he was hit late.
:11:18. > :11:20.He stayed down. He's trying to suggest to the referee that there
:11:21. > :11:24.was a lake and a legal contract on him. I don't believe there was. I
:11:25. > :11:31.think it was pure competition to put him under pressure, Jack Hughes.
:11:32. > :11:36.Shoulder. Yeah, I mean, when you slow them down they look bad. As a
:11:37. > :11:42.player on the field you would think there was not much in that. But it
:11:43. > :11:51.is a shoulder. Without doubt. I think the match officials... As a
:11:52. > :11:57.player involved in that, you protest innocence, you cannot understand
:11:58. > :11:58.what the fuss was about. Now it is illegal to do that, use the shoulder
:11:59. > :12:25.in such a manner. It is a penalty. They have sucked the energy out of
:12:26. > :12:31.the game, stop start. If they scored just before half-time, after the
:12:32. > :12:36.battering they have taken from minutes tend to minute 34 they will
:12:37. > :12:42.be pretty happy with that. Let's see what they come up with in this big
:12:43. > :12:49.set. Finn involved again and Miller goes for the long pass. Taken its
:12:50. > :12:54.time to get there. They are waiting. So Wakefield can start again.
:12:55. > :13:01.Looking for a way through. That's not the way to do it. Fifita lining
:13:02. > :13:11.himself up but it goes down the short side. Ooh, it's a difficult
:13:12. > :13:18.one because Warrington are advancing quickly, the referee says play on.
:13:19. > :13:21.Jones Bishop can't get it in, but did Ratchford deflect that away? No
:13:22. > :13:33.he didn't. The touch judge was right there. The
:13:34. > :13:41.great energy in the defensive effort. The winger jammed in,
:13:42. > :13:49.tidying anything up. Think it was the correct decision. You see the
:13:50. > :13:53.early tackle metres, there. They are astonishing statistics to look at
:13:54. > :13:56.those. Just shows you the effectiveness of Warrington running
:13:57. > :14:05.out. Stefan Ratchford into Demi half. Daryl Clark. All really
:14:06. > :14:12.effective. It has troubled Wakefield although. Inside Wakefield territory
:14:13. > :14:18.again. Westerman and now Ryan Bailey, Challenge Cup winner with
:14:19. > :14:23.Leeds back in 2014. Six times a Grand Final winner with Leeds. And
:14:24. > :14:27.the kick is efficient. And it means that Wakefield have got all the hard
:14:28. > :14:33.work to do again here. Scrum head and feet, they will get the ball,
:14:34. > :14:38.but 90 yards downfield. An indication that Warrington are
:14:39. > :14:43.really happy with their work. Put the ball into the corner on the
:14:44. > :14:48.sidelines. They can get a set defensive line to restrict the
:14:49. > :14:53.Wakefield yardage. I'm certain Warrington will be happy at 18-6 as
:14:54. > :15:03.well. That's the message Tony Smith is sending on. Great game plan, put
:15:04. > :15:07.the ball into corners. Structured stuff like this, set starts, is not
:15:08. > :15:20.where Wakefield will break Warrington Town. Scott Moore. Here
:15:21. > :15:25.is Finn. Kirmond. Dragging his body. Into this semifinal. And hoping to
:15:26. > :15:32.drag it as far as he can through this sunny final. Well, that's
:15:33. > :15:35.untidy. Pats on the back from Warrington because they know they
:15:36. > :15:42.got the ball back and they know that again they are going to start a set
:15:43. > :15:50.in a very attacking position. This is the reward for line speed, isn't
:15:51. > :15:52.it? Engaging the markers to make the markers interested before playing
:15:53. > :16:01.the first receiver. Westwood played it very well. Fifita wanted the ball
:16:02. > :16:05.early. He told Scott Moore that after he had passed the ball. He has
:16:06. > :16:15.had a good game, obviously fatigued now. Fantastic player. Fifita, big,
:16:16. > :16:21.powerful game. This will test their defensive palace now. That's where
:16:22. > :16:33.Wakefield have been scrutinised so far. Westerman, and Fifita clatters
:16:34. > :16:37.him. Cameo battle going on. Gidley is there again, over the line, has
:16:38. > :16:44.he touched it down? The referee isn't sure. What's he going to give
:16:45. > :16:51.on the field. He says try on the field. Don't know if Fifita agrees,
:16:52. > :17:03.but what about the video referee more importantly? Phil Bentham
:17:04. > :17:13.again. Grounding check again, please. Just make sure when Gidley
:17:14. > :17:19.gets over the line here that he puts the ball down on the ground.
:17:20. > :17:26.Initially it looks as if it's still up. Does he get the ball down? He's
:17:27. > :17:30.still moving, that's OK. He's had every opportunity to get the ball
:17:31. > :17:41.down and his hand is on the top which provides downward pressure.
:17:42. > :17:50.Can we go back to that shot, please? Just there. That is Gidley's hand on
:17:51. > :17:57.the line. Confirm the referee's decision. We saw one last night for
:17:58. > :18:07.Gareth Ellis that was millimetres short. Think that was just about
:18:08. > :18:12.millimetres OK. Try has been given. You've got to admire Kurt Gidley's
:18:13. > :18:15.attacking Powys, here. The way in which he has toyed with the
:18:16. > :18:19.Wakefield left edge defence. Focused on Jacob Miller. They beat them
:18:20. > :18:23.every which way they could on that side. They beat them through power,
:18:24. > :18:26.through hitting, through hitting a strong running line, beat them
:18:27. > :18:30.through dummy half running, beat them through playing through the
:18:31. > :18:34.back row early. Finally Gidley spotted an opportunity, dropped his
:18:35. > :18:39.shoulder, and forced his way over the line. It's a really fantastic
:18:40. > :18:40.mixed bag of attack. Kurt Gidley is the most experienced player on the
:18:41. > :19:00.field with the ball. His kicking has been pretty good so
:19:01. > :19:05.far, just the one miss. And this one to give Warrington a terrific
:19:06. > :19:11.advantage at half-time. Possibly one foot in a Wembley final already.
:19:12. > :19:17.24-6. How big is Wakefield's response? And they go back to the
:19:18. > :19:20.well at half-time and find some inspiration to claw their way back
:19:21. > :19:26.into this semifinal? Let's hear from the man of the moment, Kurt Gidley,
:19:27. > :19:30.with George. Do you feel firmly in control at this cup tie? Managed to
:19:31. > :19:34.get off to a great start with them scoring first. We responded well to
:19:35. > :19:41.that, and our completion rate is up there. Defensively the first try was
:19:42. > :19:44.pretty good. All your points came down the right channel, was that
:19:45. > :19:49.preplanned? No, no, no. Our job is to get our eyes up and count the
:19:50. > :19:53.numbers. Just doing a great job of yardage. Thank you. Scott Moore is
:19:54. > :19:56.here as well. Britain start but you've barely had the ball since.
:19:57. > :20:03.Exactly, we are getting smashed through the middle. The rock is too
:20:04. > :20:08.quick. Do you feel like the game has gone? No, not at all, we just need
:20:09. > :20:17.to fix the middle up and tighten up. The game is drifting a bit. I'll let
:20:18. > :20:20.you get in there, thanks. STUDIO: As George said, Wakefield have barely
:20:21. > :20:26.had the ball since that opening try. The statistics back it up. 66% for
:20:27. > :20:34.Warrington, they've dominated the territory as well. Wakefield have
:20:35. > :20:43.had to make nearly 30 more tackles than side who are leading. Jamie
:20:44. > :20:47.Peacock, Denis Betts, Brian Noble with me, would you describe that as
:20:48. > :20:52.ruthless? Definitely. They have stuck to their game plan. They have
:20:53. > :20:55.gone for the middle, hit them hard, move them around and come back at
:20:56. > :21:00.them again. They lost the battle from dummy half runs. Just getting
:21:01. > :21:06.them rolling forward. Punching a big hole in them. Capitalising on field
:21:07. > :21:12.position. Come up with some fantastic kicking game from Sandow.
:21:13. > :21:16.Started the game really well. He's put them in the corners and made it
:21:17. > :21:20.hard for Wakefield to play the game. Whereas last time we had all the
:21:21. > :21:24.blood and thunder and a real intensity, it's felt very calm and
:21:25. > :21:28.controlled from one of these two sides. After the first five or ten
:21:29. > :21:32.minutes? I think it's a physical mismatch. Dennis alluded to it with
:21:33. > :21:38.the things going wrong for Warrington. Right across the park,
:21:39. > :21:43.it enables you to play and control the game in that manner you talked
:21:44. > :21:46.about. So Sandow is very rarely under pressure, Gidley is very
:21:47. > :21:52.rarely under pressure when he gets the ball. Gives the facility for
:21:53. > :21:56.Clark and Russell to ply their trade around the middle and pick off the
:21:57. > :22:00.remnants of big blocks with Fifita in around the middle. Basically they
:22:01. > :22:04.are dominant and that allows them to be tactically dominant. And yet they
:22:05. > :22:08.did not get off to a very good start and one of their errors let
:22:09. > :22:13.Wakefield in. Yeah, I think the first five minutes was all Wakefield
:22:14. > :22:17.but apart from that they have not been in the game. Early error from
:22:18. > :22:22.Warrington, Ratchford is adjudged to have spilled the ball. Then we see a
:22:23. > :22:26.wonderful play from Wakefield, Scott Moore, great dummy half play, gets
:22:27. > :22:31.out and draws in Chris Hill. And that cascades so that every
:22:32. > :22:35.Warrington player has to come in, and leaves Jacob Miller, who has to
:22:36. > :22:40.execute a wonderful piece of skill at the end to score a try. Fantastic
:22:41. > :22:47.try from Warrington, all created by the dummy half run from Scott Moore.
:22:48. > :22:52.Wonderful pass at the end. Inexperience on the right engine,
:22:53. > :22:56.Tony King is a young player. It's been stripped, he's got to get off
:22:57. > :23:03.the line and shut it down quicker. That it was a fantastic pass. Scott
:23:04. > :23:07.Moore invites people to buy it. Couple of good passes. Tony King
:23:08. > :23:13.could be another step up and shut that down. From a fan's perspective
:23:14. > :23:19.at that stage, you think, oh, no, here we go. Doesn't matter what team
:23:20. > :23:26.you support, as a fan, you think, oh no, here we go again. Are you not a
:23:27. > :23:32.Wakefield supporter? Don't try and dogged me in on who I support. When
:23:33. > :23:36.you are in the game and a professional you don't have that
:23:37. > :23:41.thought, do you? They scored early, got a great start. But from thereon
:23:42. > :23:45.in they could not that effort. You have to be smart when you are
:23:46. > :23:50.outgunned. And they are outgunned. Not to discredit Wakefield, it is a
:23:51. > :23:55.tactical fact today. They need to find ways to get forward. Trying to
:23:56. > :24:01.get out of their own half they were beaten up, basically. Couldn't get
:24:02. > :24:05.into it. Warrington became more and more confident in what they were
:24:06. > :24:10.doing and it was only a matter of time, 15 or 20 minutes in, when you
:24:11. > :24:14.thought Warrington were in it. There is a way back for Wakefield, so the
:24:15. > :24:19.hope is absolutely there but they do need to get to the other part of the
:24:20. > :24:23.field. With Scott Moore, Miller and Finn, they are liable to create
:24:24. > :24:27.opportunities. The challenge is finding a way, dummy half running,
:24:28. > :24:30.being smart, to get to the other end of the field. Let's go through the
:24:31. > :24:36.Warrington try starting with the Jack Hughes one. We see a poor kick
:24:37. > :24:42.first from Wakefield. In the semifinals you have to kick well.
:24:43. > :24:44.Rate pressure from Ryan Atkins, giving Warrington field position.
:24:45. > :24:50.And off the back of that you'll see Kurt Gidley, he's smart. He talks to
:24:51. > :24:55.Jack Hughes. Puts the big man on the smaller man, Miller. You would like
:24:56. > :24:58.to see him stop the ball. There are three Wakefield players, there. They
:24:59. > :25:04.need to stop the ball, it is a semifinal. Need a bit more
:25:05. > :25:10.desperation and they will be disappointed. He's got four bodies.
:25:11. > :25:13.Jamie spoke last night about getting coloured jerseys in the frame to
:25:14. > :25:17.make an effort. We saw Hull with four black jersey that every
:25:18. > :25:20.breakdown. Miller half stops Hughes. He's a big boy who take some
:25:21. > :25:27.stopping and he deserves help from those around him. You will be
:25:28. > :25:31.disappointed. That many white shirts around Hughes, it is a disappointing
:25:32. > :25:40.try to concede. To be fair, Miller did a decent enough job. He's a big
:25:41. > :25:45.man. He slowed him down. But he has got to have people coming in and
:25:46. > :25:48.helping him out. We talked about Gidley and Sandow moving Warrington
:25:49. > :25:52.on the field but Clark has really come into this game. I think Daryl
:25:53. > :25:58.Clark has been exceptional. He owes a favour to all his foreword by how
:25:59. > :26:03.hard they have been running. The only way you get markers down is by
:26:04. > :26:07.your forwards running hard. You can see that because they've made twice
:26:08. > :26:14.as many metres as Wakefield, over 700. He absolutely loves it. Best
:26:15. > :26:18.dummy half in the com petition. Both their wingers, their centres, their
:26:19. > :26:26.full-back and Clark play on the back of the fact they are big men. Hill,
:26:27. > :26:30.Sims, Westwood. Clark is one of the best exponents of that space. They
:26:31. > :26:35.put them under pressure. Has a look, he's a smart player. Understands
:26:36. > :26:40.it's a big man isolated in space, nips through and gets around him,
:26:41. > :26:47.uses his lack of agility. Uses his pace. He panics, doesn't he? Clark
:26:48. > :26:51.has seen so much space. Great picture from our technical people
:26:52. > :26:56.about what he has seen. He has seen the first hole I thought, I better
:26:57. > :27:00.fill that. Clark has run round and is coming in this way, an easier
:27:01. > :27:03.task for him. The credit in the whole piece has to go to the
:27:04. > :27:09.tactics. Scruton has been involved in four of the six tackles leading
:27:10. > :27:14.up to that point. So has Fifita and Moore. When you've made a couple of
:27:15. > :27:19.tackles, those spaces are out of reach, they seem like six or seven
:27:20. > :27:22.metres, has a big man. Going through the last two Warrington tries which
:27:23. > :27:26.might have put them out of reach. I'll ask you whether they are out of
:27:27. > :27:30.reach later but as far as the tries are concerned. It is all down with
:27:31. > :27:36.the forwards going to the line. And a wonderful ball. Another wonderful
:27:37. > :27:42.ball. This is from a back row. He's had a great chain, Jack Hughes.
:27:43. > :27:46.Provides the try again. Gidley taking the line on, too strong for
:27:47. > :27:51.the Wakefield defenders. On the back of building that pressure. Making
:27:52. > :27:55.more and more tackles. Gidley said to George at half-time that they
:27:56. > :28:01.haven't targeted pre-match about targeting the left-hand side. Does
:28:02. > :28:07.it look like they have? That's just the way the game has gone. I think
:28:08. > :28:12.they've been after Scruton, definitely been after Fifita. They
:28:13. > :28:18.are picking him out. He's pointing them up saying, come on. But I think
:28:19. > :28:21.it's a bit of bravado from him. They've got a quick play the ball
:28:22. > :28:25.enabling them to get on the front foot. When it goes to Gidley he's
:28:26. > :28:29.got some space, he can throw the party wants. The back row can get
:28:30. > :28:34.time on the ball and pick the line he once. For the moment, thank you
:28:35. > :28:39.very much. It's looking at the moment like a Hull Warrington
:28:40. > :28:42.Challenge Cup final, it will be at the end of August. Throughout this
:28:43. > :28:48.year the songs of praise team have been working with the clubs who play
:28:49. > :28:53.here, rugby league come up and down the country, to form a choir of fans
:28:54. > :28:58.who are going to sing abide with me, that legendary anthem, before the
:28:59. > :29:05.Challenge Cup final. Everybody has been nominated and chosen. The full
:29:06. > :29:11.list is on the website. Phyllis Norman was nominated by York city.
:29:12. > :29:16.It's a him about giving strength through trials in your life, through
:29:17. > :29:22.troubles in your life, and just to keep you going. And if you watch the
:29:23. > :29:28.words, you listen to them, the emotion takes over, to be honest.
:29:29. > :29:33.It's not just another game, its final. It's about performing well,
:29:34. > :29:37.soaking up everything, the fans, the atmosphere, and the fact you are at
:29:38. > :29:43.Wembley Stadium, which is iconic stadium in the history of sport. So,
:29:44. > :29:46.no pressure! And I will be nervous and I will do my best to try to
:29:47. > :29:55.contain that. But just believe in what I'm doing.
:29:56. > :30:05.So Phyllis will be part of the choir who will sing abide with me before
:30:06. > :30:16.our cup final coverage on the 27th of August.
:30:17. > :30:26.Wear with a couple of legends. Lee, you have been in the dressing room
:30:27. > :30:34.and saw your players come out. What is the minutes? Hopefully were not
:30:35. > :30:42.going to change too much. Wakefield will come back at us and we need to
:30:43. > :30:47.weather the storm and kick on. A bit more painful as a Wakefield boy to
:30:48. > :30:52.watch that? Warrington has been too fast and too strong for us. When we
:30:53. > :31:00.are nearly back in the game, we break through, we have had two men
:31:01. > :31:08.overlap and then they'd dummy. You need to take your chances to get
:31:09. > :31:13.points on the board. Great seeing you here. We'd better let you get
:31:14. > :31:19.back to work. Thank you very much. What do
:31:20. > :31:24.Wakefield do then? They have to run out and kick well and be ruthless.
:31:25. > :31:32.Warrington have been outstanding. It is as good as I have seen them play.
:31:33. > :31:36.They can turn it around. There is no messing about. Warrington are
:31:37. > :31:42.already out there are still a couple of minutes to go for half-time. Get
:31:43. > :31:49.them out, get them warmed up and get them ready to go. Wakefield need to
:31:50. > :31:54.stand up to the plate. I will agree with Jamie that when they are in the
:31:55. > :32:00.right parts of the field, they are a clever team and they score points.
:32:01. > :32:04.We have seen that this year. It is about the attacking prowess. What
:32:05. > :32:12.they are struggling with is not bending the backs enough against a
:32:13. > :32:16.physical and strong Warrington side. When you talked about Sandow's kick
:32:17. > :32:21.in the first half, if he does it again in the second half, there
:32:22. > :32:29.won't be able to get out. They are out early now. They know their jobs.
:32:30. > :32:35.It is a job well done, let's do it again. I think we will see the same
:32:36. > :32:47.for Warrington again. They will have to throw caution to the wind. They
:32:48. > :32:51.are going to have to try and play and it will be uncomfortable and
:32:52. > :32:56.will open the way for Warrington to score more points. We are moments
:32:57. > :33:02.away from the second half after a first 40 where Warrington looked in
:33:03. > :33:09.control. This game has a lot to live up to after last night's semifinal.
:33:10. > :33:19.The opening try and Wakefield have the dream start! Jack Hughes gets
:33:20. > :33:24.his side's first try. Clark sashaying a little too easily.
:33:25. > :33:32.Warrington taking this cup tie by the scruff of the neck.
:33:33. > :33:37.Wakefield are back out. They have it all to do in the second half if they
:33:38. > :33:43.are going to meet Hull in the Challenge Cup final at the end of
:33:44. > :33:52.August. Back to John Wilkie and John Kier and Dave Woods.
:33:53. > :33:59.John, you will be head of rugby at Wakefield Trinity next year. What
:34:00. > :34:05.will this inject to future hopes? They have to get up there and get
:34:06. > :34:09.possession and make with use of the position. They had to toughen up in
:34:10. > :34:17.the middle channel and attempt very good contact and the collision to
:34:18. > :34:21.slow this Warrington onslaught down. The writing is on the wall though,
:34:22. > :34:29.isn't it, from a realistic point of view? Yes. As a cynical nor the man,
:34:30. > :34:32.yes. I can't see a way back for Wakefield, but stranger things have
:34:33. > :34:37.happened. They need to do some of the things that Jamie Peacock
:34:38. > :34:41.alluded to. In sport, there is nothing to lose, which is a
:34:42. > :34:45.dangerous thing, but Warrington have been exceptional in that first half
:34:46. > :34:49.and I'm sure there will be energised coming into the start of the second
:34:50. > :34:54.half. We can look negatively at Wakefield, but you have to look
:34:55. > :35:00.positively at Warrington's division to this semifinal. They have been
:35:01. > :35:06.absolutely outstanding. Not for nothing are Warrington in line for a
:35:07. > :35:09.potential trouble, the same with Hull. They are fantastic. They are.
:35:10. > :35:15.They have scored more than anyone else. They are the huge attacking
:35:16. > :35:22.threat when they have the ball. Off the back of that, they are not too
:35:23. > :35:27.shabby defensively. Twisted under contact and has picked up an injury
:35:28. > :35:34.there. Warrington is the big deal -- real deal. That is the last thing
:35:35. > :35:41.that Warrington needed. Here comes Currie down the middle. So five
:35:42. > :35:45.tackles to have a real go at this Wakefield line right at the start of
:35:46. > :35:49.the second half. Use bouncing forward again, proving a real
:35:50. > :35:58.handful again. Clark moves into dummy half. Gidley. Westwood on his
:35:59. > :36:10.inside and now Westerman plays in and Currie wider still. The referee
:36:11. > :36:16.wants a second look. No try on the field. They did look to be an
:36:17. > :36:25.element of the ball coming through. Checking now with Phil Bentham the
:36:26. > :36:31.video referee. Check again please. Warrington players in possession.
:36:32. > :36:35.Tackle comes in. Reaches out to try and score and he drops the ball.
:36:36. > :36:45.Confirm the decision of the referee which is no try. A 20 metre restart.
:36:46. > :36:48.Drop ball, no try. That is some relief for Wakefield because if they
:36:49. > :36:54.had considered that, it would have been game over. It's desperation, in
:36:55. > :37:03.all honesty. They have numbers and they prevented the try. Sometimes
:37:04. > :37:13.you have to find a way to dislodge the ball and they managed to do
:37:14. > :37:21.that. We overcomplicate things. Just getting involved in helping your
:37:22. > :37:34.team-mates is the most important thing. Tony Smith says they are
:37:35. > :37:40.bound to come back. For Wakefield, Chris Chester says we have to
:37:41. > :37:43.believe in ourselves. There is time, but we need our fair share of
:37:44. > :37:51.possession. It deserted us after that great start. He said he feels
:37:52. > :37:58.the lads can make a great comeback. Another one. Wakefield fans are
:37:59. > :38:02.celebrating in hope rather than expectation. A poor kick. He had
:38:03. > :38:11.time and opportunity to put that bought two or three metres out from
:38:12. > :38:21.the Warrington line. Gives Matty Russell and the Warrington players a
:38:22. > :38:33.chance. A poor kick from Finn. Here comes Evans. Churchillian. And he
:38:34. > :38:42.involved in the planning for Gallipoli as well? It doesn't always
:38:43. > :38:52.go right, does it? Dummy half. Runs into his opposite number Moore. So
:38:53. > :38:58.hard to stop. Westerman and now Bailey. Reinventing his career, Ryan
:38:59. > :39:03.Bailey, after a couple of years out in the wilderness. He goes left and
:39:04. > :39:11.Currie is running hard. Clark has a good look at what is ahead of him
:39:12. > :39:23.and decides to take it on himself. 35 away. Sandow launching it hard
:39:24. > :39:29.and Ben Jones-Bishop. Complete concentration. A simple catch.
:39:30. > :39:33.Again, as a turnover, if he have the ball ten metres from your own line
:39:34. > :39:39.and the first tackle is three or four metres from the line, you would
:39:40. > :39:42.be pretty happy with that. They make up metres easily, they have big
:39:43. > :39:53.powerful guy to play with a bit of dissension. Once they run, they run
:39:54. > :39:56.and break through the middle. Warrington are punishing Wakefield
:39:57. > :40:07.to look flat and two are devoid of shame. They will me something
:40:08. > :40:14.special to unlock this. Run from dummy half to the six tackle. It is
:40:15. > :40:18.when you are trying hard as an individual but unfortunately this is
:40:19. > :40:31.a team game and the effort has to be a combined effort. King shaking
:40:32. > :40:37.himself through. Great ball carrier, Matty Russell. Quick on his feet,
:40:38. > :40:50.strong in the hips. He's one of the that gets this team moving forward
:40:51. > :41:00.and he's really in form for this Clay his side. There comes
:41:01. > :41:18.Westerman. Sandow goes left and Atkins steps back in. Sandow, over
:41:19. > :41:30.he goes! There he goes. Sandow gets a try and score. Warrington are
:41:31. > :41:36.easing the way now. It is not the right side attack, it is the left
:41:37. > :41:46.side attack. There is also shift to play and off-loaded from Atkins. A
:41:47. > :41:55.bit of willow the wisp work from Sandow. Lovely shift, very efficient
:41:56. > :41:59.in all that they do. Send in the tackle, one-handed off-load and then
:42:00. > :42:03.magical footwork to cross down the left-hand side. Tremendous try. A
:42:04. > :42:12.great piece of play. Uses his strength. Great off-load here.
:42:13. > :42:18.Sandow does all the lying you can do with your body. Eyes, legs, feet,
:42:19. > :42:30.everything was pointing one way, but the ball went back the other. John
:42:31. > :42:35.Kay has done some lying with his body as well, but not necessarily on
:42:36. > :42:46.a rugby field. When Chris Sandow is in the field, the opposition has
:42:47. > :42:51.more chance of catching roadrunner than they have of catching him.
:42:52. > :42:58.Looking to take Warrington to 30 points. A bit wide. Warrington are
:42:59. > :43:04.leading and firmly in the driving seat. Wakefield have to do something
:43:05. > :43:12.remarkable to stop them. It is a test the Wakefield. Ryan Atkins is a
:43:13. > :43:17.strong, strong athlete. That is a marvellous piece of skill there to
:43:18. > :43:25.off-load. A great try. Sandow is one of those players renowned for his
:43:26. > :43:28.flair. He has had a really solid game. Kicked the ball into touch
:43:29. > :43:34.when he needs to and he's come up with a try. Solid performances from
:43:35. > :43:46.both the Warrington halfbacks. They have been tremendous. Wakefield need
:43:47. > :43:54.to start putting in a good 20, 30 minutes of rugby really in. By the
:43:55. > :43:59.way, Brad Dwyer is on. Atkins with a great ball away. There comes
:44:00. > :44:09.Russell. Ratchford is going to score. Warrington are running away
:44:10. > :44:16.with it! In honour of the great commentator 50 years ago, they think
:44:17. > :44:23.it's all over, it is now. Warrington 32-6 and there is still a six to
:44:24. > :44:27.come. The thing with this Warrington team is they sense opportunities.
:44:28. > :44:31.They have that many dangerous runners of the ball, that as a team,
:44:32. > :44:37.they can support breaks like this. There is no one better at that than
:44:38. > :44:43.Ratchford. Came through with some shapes in the middle of the field.
:44:44. > :44:51.He runs from dummy half, one-handed off-load. Ratchford started it and
:44:52. > :44:56.finishes it in the corner. Once again, John, there is a man down by
:44:57. > :45:12.the side of the ruck. The line is not set and they are taking place
:45:13. > :45:17.and -- space. They need players who can create speed and take advantage
:45:18. > :45:21.of it. Warrington have both sides covered. They have players who get
:45:22. > :45:28.them going on the front foot. On the back you have Ratchford, Sandow,
:45:29. > :45:41.Daryl Clark, instinctive players. It is a dangerous combination. Giggly
:45:42. > :45:59.looking to add a few more thrills to the thrills so far. -- Gidley. It's
:46:00. > :46:02.over. 34-6. These guys are already starting to sing Wembley, Wembley. I
:46:03. > :46:07.think they know where they are going. One of the most ill-advised
:46:08. > :46:16.attempt at singing I think we have herbs! What Wakefield now because
:46:17. > :46:20.there is a danger of this, it has been an excellent season for them,
:46:21. > :46:24.real excitement building up to this semifinal, but there is a real
:46:25. > :46:34.danger they are walking out with red faces as they are not careful? It
:46:35. > :46:37.is, obviously. They have to build for the upcoming super eights. They
:46:38. > :46:42.need some confidence building in the last quarter of the game. The get
:46:43. > :46:47.the scoreboard, look at the process of rugby league. In the absence of
:46:48. > :46:52.this having the intensity of lost my's semifinal, I think you can just
:46:53. > :46:59.sit back and relax and enjoy the way that Warrington are playing rugby
:47:00. > :47:06.league. If there is a fightback, we will come to it later. That is only
:47:07. > :47:15.one way to stop him sometimes and that was done illegally. Sandow has
:47:16. > :47:23.really tested the Wakefield defence. It looked dangerous. It looked
:47:24. > :47:30.dangerous of the Wakefield defence. When an attacking player is that
:47:31. > :47:37.good on his feet and comes down so hard, players like Fifita cannot
:47:38. > :47:42.deal with that agility. I am impressed with Sandow's reaction to
:47:43. > :47:46.this. He has not milked it. Straight back on his feet. He has signalled
:47:47. > :47:51.that he is OK which is good on the guy. The game is going well, he is
:47:52. > :47:57.playing well and he wants to get on with things. I think he was
:47:58. > :48:04.sin-binned in his first game, wasn't he, David Fifita? Here we go, ten
:48:05. > :48:16.minutes. Just the yellow card. It might have been worse. We've got it
:48:17. > :48:26.sorted. We don't need you coming in. When you come in everyone else comes
:48:27. > :48:34.in. High tackle. Ten minutes on the sidelines with David Fifita. I think
:48:35. > :48:39.it is becoming a losing cause now for Chris Chester. And he is up and
:48:40. > :49:00.running again. Still half an hour to go. Bailey is
:49:01. > :49:10.furious. Danny Westwood chewing up the yards down the middle. A bit of
:49:11. > :49:14.aggression invigorates the defence. Hughes again trying to shake them
:49:15. > :49:29.off. Wakefield are hanging on for pride at the moment. Dwyer. Gidley.
:49:30. > :49:32.Into the heart of it. Wakefield's defence is decent at the moment, but
:49:33. > :49:46.Warrington keep asking these questions. Attack back on the 20th.
:49:47. > :49:54.There is George on the sideline. David Fifita is absolutely fuming.
:49:55. > :50:00.Anyone who would listen, the water dies, the physio. He has the look of
:50:01. > :50:05.a man who has just had his wallet nicked. A big hit by Atkins. He
:50:06. > :50:13.follows it up with another stern effort. A bit of intensity in the
:50:14. > :50:23.last two sets of defence, I'll tell you. Into the right-hand side,
:50:24. > :50:31.trying to get things going. Miller wants to take it quickly, the
:50:32. > :50:42.penalty, but the referee Webb allow it. Great play by Wakefield. It felt
:50:43. > :50:51.like that was the way for them to get into the game. A high tackle
:50:52. > :51:01.from Westerman on Yates. Difficult to execute against a side like
:51:02. > :51:09.Warrington. Warrington are backing onto their own line to defend as
:51:10. > :51:13.Yeats brings it forward again. Moore Besler line, but he's going to be
:51:14. > :51:42.held up. So many Warrington bodies there. -- Moore goes for the line.
:51:43. > :51:49.Here is thin. -- Liam Finn. Scooping it out on the sixth tackle.
:51:50. > :51:54.Intercepted. Matty Russell is away. They are all chasing him. Russell
:51:55. > :52:01.changing direction. He has put there as well. He is reeled in by Ben
:52:02. > :52:06.Jones-Bishop. Did a terrific job, but it is not finished yet because
:52:07. > :52:13.Currie is on the back of Sandow's 's. In the blink of an eye,
:52:14. > :52:19.Warrington have covered 90 metres and scored yet another. Wow, they
:52:20. > :52:26.are enjoying it, those in Primrose and blue. The sun is shining on them
:52:27. > :52:41.at the moment. How many ways can you find of scoring a try? They have
:52:42. > :52:48.found another one. Russell is up there taking space, picks a pocket
:52:49. > :52:53.there and then Ben Jones-Bishop who is just working, working, working.
:52:54. > :53:02.Chases him down. Too many Warrington players. That is a big effort from
:53:03. > :53:14.the second row. Ends on the receiving end. That is why he has
:53:15. > :53:24.defied career -- 55 career tries. Recognises he is behind Sandow,
:53:25. > :53:30.takes the opportunity. There are a lot of things going for Ben Currie.
:53:31. > :53:41.He's not a promising youngster any more, he is delivering. A great try.
:53:42. > :53:53.A distinctive and instinctive bit of wing play. Chris Chester's Wakefield
:53:54. > :53:59.will not do the same this year. Gidley puts it over. 40-6. We have
:54:00. > :54:06.seen some semifinal blow outs down the years. It is a long way to go
:54:07. > :54:11.before it matches any of those. Wigan against London and Wigan
:54:12. > :54:22.against Bradford was a famous one in the 1990s. I don't think it is going
:54:23. > :54:27.to go to those proportions. A solid exuberant performance. There have
:54:28. > :54:36.been some good tries from Warrington. Probably one of the few
:54:37. > :54:41.mistakes they have made there. If it comes from the kick-off, it is head
:54:42. > :54:47.and see to four Wakefield. Trying to help the guys on the front line, but
:54:48. > :54:58.exposed his post and it was picked up by Wakefield.
:54:59. > :55:06.As players, what can they do to stop it? They are looking for someone to
:55:07. > :55:10.inspire change. You can't see where it is going to come from right now.
:55:11. > :55:26.The number of fans who were at Doncaster last night and the
:55:27. > :55:30.Warrington fans here who aren't clapping and -- who are clapping and
:55:31. > :55:34.singing, it's going to be a big crowd at Wembley. It will be the
:55:35. > :55:46.first Wembley meeting between Warrington and Hull. We have to get
:55:47. > :55:50.composure. The penalty because you are not listening to what I am
:55:51. > :56:02.saying. Get out of it. Come on. Same applies to you. I think Chris is a
:56:03. > :56:10.part-time plumber. Liam Finn gave up a job as an electrician to become a
:56:11. > :56:21.professional. They would be handy to have around the house if they got
:56:22. > :56:24.on. Ratchet comes up with it again. Warrington starts 15 yards out, but
:56:25. > :56:37.who knows where it will finish. Look at that. 70% in the first, 71% in
:56:38. > :56:42.the second. They do paint the picture of what is happening in the
:56:43. > :56:50.game. You cannot get away from it. Speed of game, territory and
:56:51. > :56:54.possession. Warrington are renowned to this and it has killed this
:56:55. > :56:58.Wakefield side. They started on their own line, but might finishing
:56:59. > :57:06.glory on the other line. They are going for glory. Toby King will roll
:57:07. > :57:20.into score yet another Warrington try. Wow! How can stop them? How can
:57:21. > :57:23.you stop them when they are in this move? I think the clear answer today
:57:24. > :57:32.is Wakefield are not going to stop them. If you never see another Rugby
:57:33. > :57:52.League Tri-Nations! We've seen some unique ones today. -- rugby league
:57:53. > :57:55.try. Dwyer with a lovely kick. Arundel will be disappointed,
:57:56. > :58:06.allowing Warrington to cross for the four points. Wakefield are done
:58:07. > :58:12.here. I'm talking in terms of the attitude, willingness to compete.
:58:13. > :58:15.That is a broken group of players. When Warrington have wanted to be
:58:16. > :58:20.intense and stepped up to a different level, that Wakefield
:58:21. > :58:26.group of players have not been able to compete at that high intensity we
:58:27. > :58:31.saw yesterday. Mentally and physically, they look a broken
:58:32. > :58:38.group. It will be a task to rebuild them for next week's game in the
:58:39. > :58:55.super eights. And they got next week? Can you remember? I think it
:58:56. > :59:04.is Wigan. It will be the two beaten semifinalists at the start of the
:59:05. > :59:15.super eight next week. When breaking new ground. Gidley has gone off.
:59:16. > :59:19.They will wrap him in hot war, bring him into the dressing shed and you
:59:20. > :59:26.will never see him again. They don't want to risk any injury. 22 minutes
:59:27. > :59:40.to go. It's a nice situation to be in when you take your key play maker
:59:41. > :59:50.of the field to rest him up. Clay 70-0, Wigan against London. Brian
:59:51. > :00:00.Noble was involved somehow in that game. There is Ratchford.
:00:01. > :00:14.There is a man left on the ground virtually every play the ball and
:00:15. > :00:19.they are already a man down, Wakefield, so it is becoming
:00:20. > :00:27.impossible to defend. Ratchford's kick into the in-goal area, just
:00:28. > :00:35.played out. It means that it has gone dead. 20 minutes still to go
:00:36. > :00:41.here, but the Rugby league for coming up after we finish our
:00:42. > :00:48.coverage live on BBC One. You can get in touch on the website. They
:00:49. > :00:54.remind the forum is on the website. On the 27th of August, all the
:00:55. > :00:58.razzle-dazzle. The abide with me beforehand with supporters from all
:00:59. > :01:01.that front clubs taking part. And then, we can say with some
:01:02. > :01:09.assurance, Hull against Warrington, the main event. Miller's pass sums
:01:10. > :01:17.up Wakefield's afternoon. Full of good intent but not well executed.
:01:18. > :01:22.Frustrated. He's had a great year, come on and developed as a young
:01:23. > :01:27.half-backs, mature. 20 minutes to go in the game, you cannot blame him
:01:28. > :01:33.for trying. Tries to draw the long ones to Craig Hall, it was never on.
:01:34. > :01:35.The touch judge nearly caught it. You can understand the frustration
:01:36. > :01:43.from the Wakefield team now. The game has gone. You are talking about
:01:44. > :01:50.Wembley, abide with me, all those emotions. There is no better place
:01:51. > :01:56.for the players who get to do it. It's just an amazing thing to be
:01:57. > :02:00.part of the history of this game. It certainly is, and looking at these
:02:01. > :02:05.two teams, it will be interesting to see how Wakefield respond. Losing
:02:06. > :02:11.the semifinal is heartbreaking. Losing in this manner could really
:02:12. > :02:16.take it out of you mentally. They have not been in great form,
:02:17. > :02:19.Wakefield. We came into this game hopeful they would perform but the
:02:20. > :02:29.reality is they have lost three out of four. Credit to Warrington for
:02:30. > :02:37.how they have dismantled this team. Sims, Ratchford. Just enjoying
:02:38. > :02:43.themselves now, looking for individual and further team glory,
:02:44. > :02:56.here. In the 18 minutes that still remain. Hughes picks up. As a player
:02:57. > :02:59.you very rarely get to play in front of a crowd like this, on a stage
:03:00. > :03:10.like this, for 80 minutes, knowing full well you have got the job done.
:03:11. > :03:17.A knock-on. It is a privileged position, to be relaxed with 20
:03:18. > :03:20.minutes to go. Jamie Peacock and myself had a chat before the game
:03:21. > :03:28.and were saying, that feeling when you know it's done is bliss. One of
:03:29. > :03:33.the teams today has certainly got that. Did you have that feeling in
:03:34. > :03:39.98, John, Sheffield, towards the end? There was a spell when you
:03:40. > :03:45.realised? In the final, yes. Not in the semifinals. Salford wasn't it,
:03:46. > :03:52.at Headingley? It was, eight points down with about eight minutes left.
:03:53. > :04:02.Not that I remember! You live through it in your nightmares. Here
:04:03. > :04:07.comes Ashton Sims. Brad Dwyer dummy half-back again to Westerman. Chris
:04:08. > :04:16.Hill trying to push his way over but he can't. Half a century looms for
:04:17. > :04:24.Warrington. And Benny westward! As he has done so many times in his 383
:04:25. > :04:34.Warrington appearances, finds a way to get away to score a try! His
:04:35. > :04:42.124th Warrington try. It's the icing on the cake of the semifinal. And
:04:43. > :04:45.Warrington are up to a half-century. Soft try to concede, there.
:04:46. > :04:49.Westwood, big, strong ball-carrier, he's been doing this kind of
:04:50. > :04:56.playfully years. Too good for Scott Moore and his team-mates. Dwyer came
:04:57. > :05:01.in at dummy half, strong line. Jowitt tried his best, Yates tried
:05:02. > :05:06.to join in. To bring up the 50 points, probably no softer way to do
:05:07. > :05:11.it. Jowitt tried to stop him, Yates couldn't do much about it. Ben
:05:12. > :05:19.Westwood gets the ball down with his arm at. There are question marks on
:05:20. > :05:24.the grounding, it is suspect. But he has two thumbs up and waving because
:05:25. > :05:32.he knows the try has been given. Ironic as well that then brought 50
:05:33. > :05:36.up against a team where his career started all those years ago. 1999I
:05:37. > :05:43.think he made his debut for Wakefield. He's been out Warrington
:05:44. > :05:53.for a lifetime, hasn't he, it seems. Ratchford. Taking over the kicking
:05:54. > :06:06.in the absence of Gidley. And it's 52-6. Warrington are now leading
:06:07. > :06:14.this cup tie 52-6. Slightly kitsch of Wakefield fans when that try was
:06:15. > :06:18.scored, one or two going away. To put things in perspective, you have
:06:19. > :06:27.to run the 12 months ago, and they are in a much better position than
:06:28. > :06:30.they were then. This has been an immensely disappointing afternoon
:06:31. > :06:34.for them but they have to learn from it and move on, and that applies to
:06:35. > :06:39.Max Jowitt. A very young man with great potential. He's got to learn
:06:40. > :06:46.from this and make sure he doesn't experience this type of feeling
:06:47. > :06:51.again. You are taking it all in at that age, understanding what worked
:06:52. > :06:54.and what didn't. Wakefield fans have been fantastic, turning up in
:06:55. > :07:00.numbers and supporting this Wakefield side who have not
:07:01. > :07:05.realistically been in the game. Just been pointed out to mean nine tries,
:07:06. > :07:09.nine different scorers here today. There is another very efficient kit
:07:10. > :07:14.which means Wakefield are on the back foot again. Dwyer, the young
:07:15. > :07:18.men who looked to be on the outer Warrington a couple of years ago,
:07:19. > :07:23.sent down to London on loan, and came back as an emergency when
:07:24. > :07:30.Mickey Hyams left this club. Absolute Revelation. They've got the
:07:31. > :07:35.ideal couple of hookers for how Warrington play the game. Daryl
:07:36. > :07:41.Clark lining up at dummy half. When you Dwyer comes on it is as if the
:07:42. > :07:45.game has speeded up, almost goes in fast forward. The key for Hull in
:07:46. > :07:48.the final will be slowing down Warrington. Stopping them rolling
:07:49. > :07:55.forward, the moment they get on the field. Once you stop at, Clark and
:07:56. > :07:59.Coe, Russell and coalesce effective. Having said that it's been an
:08:00. > :08:06.accomplished attacking performance. They've look good in all areas. Mine
:08:07. > :08:10.try scorers spread across the park. Great performance from them and I'm
:08:11. > :08:16.sure Tony Smith will be overwhelmed and pleased by the way they've
:08:17. > :08:21.attack. Miller with a little kick through, not a bad one. Looking
:08:22. > :08:25.inside, support is there. Miller couldn't get there but it will be
:08:26. > :08:29.Max Jowitt the full-back who rolls over and plonk sits down. And the
:08:30. > :08:37.Wakefield fans greet that moment as if they'd just won the semifinal!
:08:38. > :08:40.Well they might be denied that celebration, looking at offside and
:08:41. > :08:50.the grounding. Let's hear from Phil Bentham in the video rest rooms
:08:51. > :08:55.again. Need to check if it is onside. Paws on the foot. That's
:08:56. > :09:13.fine, he's behind, play on. The next check is the grounding. That's it.
:09:14. > :09:19.The momentum continues. Pure momentum and that's a try. We just
:09:20. > :09:30.need to see that in normal speed, please, to demonstrate the fact he
:09:31. > :09:44.has rolled through the tackle. That's it. No problem, that's a try.
:09:45. > :09:50.It's not often you score a try this late in the semifinal of a Challenge
:09:51. > :09:57.Cup and it's barely worth celebrating. But these Wakefield
:09:58. > :10:02.fans are giving it plenty of noise despite the scoreline reading 52-10.
:10:03. > :10:07.He's got something about him, has Max Jowitt. I like all the things he
:10:08. > :10:16.does on a rugby field. For a young guy there is certainly something to
:10:17. > :10:23.work with. Yes. They have a big miss on the wing. But some nice ingenuity
:10:24. > :10:27.from Jacob Miller, well finished. Nice for Max Jowitt, a young man, so
:10:28. > :10:31.young, to scoring a semifinal. If the feelings he's experienced prior
:10:32. > :10:35.to that that he needs to take away from this event today, and make sure
:10:36. > :10:46.it makes him stronger for the rest of his career.
:10:47. > :11:03.Liam Finn. Irish international record points scorer, and that's his
:11:04. > :11:10.second success of the day. 52-12. This is the Intuit 's knee. -- this
:11:11. > :11:15.is the ingenuity. Dabs the ball behind. Picks it up, not the best
:11:16. > :11:22.pass. A fair bit of determination from the youngster to get that ball
:11:23. > :11:33.over the whitewash and ground it. Good strength, great finish.
:11:34. > :11:42.Still 11 minutes left. Only 40 points to make up! Seven tries, that
:11:43. > :11:56.should do it. No takers on that? No takers. Finn.
:11:57. > :12:02.Not finding any purchase, there. Warrington looking to keep their
:12:03. > :12:22.foot on the throttle here if they can. He's back. Fifita. After a
:12:23. > :12:29.spell in the sin-bin. Miller. So, here comes the last tackle in the
:12:30. > :12:36.set. Finn looking for something creative, it's not bad. Jones Bishop
:12:37. > :12:44.will carry on the kicking duties. Still kicking, but Currie drops on
:12:45. > :12:53.it. They will start from here. Evans. His brother, Ben Evans,
:12:54. > :12:59.currently out injured with an injury he picked up in March. But there are
:13:00. > :13:05.two brothers in this squad of course, Toby King and George King.
:13:06. > :13:22.Looking to have the ball family representation in the final. Dwyer.
:13:23. > :13:39.Building it downfield. Ten minutes to go. Miller again.
:13:40. > :13:47.Toby Tony Smith will be looking for a tidy finish from his team now.
:13:48. > :13:53.Defensively they have been as impressive as they have with the
:13:54. > :13:58.ball. Certainly something after a poor start, I thought they were soft
:13:59. > :14:02.at the beginning of the game. 120 tries in Super League this year,
:14:03. > :14:09.more than anybody else, Warrington. Only conceded 425 points. No side
:14:10. > :14:16.has conceded fewer. They are romping their way to Wembley. A time
:14:17. > :14:23.winners. They had a big strong hold on this famous old trophy just four,
:14:24. > :14:27.five, six years ago. 2009, 2010, 2012 they were winners. Are they
:14:28. > :14:33.going to do it again? Will Hull become the stuff of legend for their
:14:34. > :14:40.club? That's all to come. Wakefield are still looking for something
:14:41. > :14:47.here. And Dwyer is unexpectedly able to pick it up. You sense there are
:14:48. > :14:52.two teams here who will be quite happy for the Hutu to go, really.
:14:53. > :15:03.Wakefield know it is impossible. Warrington know the job is done.
:15:04. > :15:06.Somebody came up with a theory that in a game like this there should be
:15:07. > :15:16.a joke available, if both teams agree, the hooter sounds. Both sides
:15:17. > :15:26.have to agree. Wakefield fans are slowly disappearing. Ratchford has
:15:27. > :15:30.knocked on. What can you do in this situation as a Wakefield team? Got
:15:31. > :15:33.to pull it back to the basics of the game, resting yourselves, if the
:15:34. > :15:39.effort there, commitment to each other? If that's present you've got
:15:40. > :15:42.something to work on, haven't you? If those things aren't there, it is
:15:43. > :15:51.a difficult dressing room to walk into. Certainly is. Look at the
:15:52. > :15:54.crowd there, though. These are Wakefield fans, by the way.
:15:55. > :16:00.Absolutely first class. Brilliant support. Wakefield Trinity Wildcats
:16:01. > :16:05.as they've been known for a few years. They've been talking about
:16:06. > :16:09.dropping the Wildcats just a little bit, going back to tradition,
:16:10. > :16:15.playing on the fact they have the likes of Neil Fox as part of their
:16:16. > :16:19.history. There is a real, real good rugby league pedigree. Michael
:16:20. > :16:25.Carter just in front of Neil Fox. Here comes an attempted try. Hall is
:16:26. > :16:33.going to chase his kick, going for the line, reaches over, has he got
:16:34. > :16:40.there? He's not sure. Well, he deserves that for the skill with his
:16:41. > :16:49.grip, doesn't he? Is he going to give this? He's asking the question.
:16:50. > :16:57.No try. They are looking at double movement. Over two Phil Bentham.
:16:58. > :17:01.We will check the kick first, I'm pretty sure he collected his own
:17:02. > :17:27.kick. Yes, there is a kick, yeah. Pretty sure he collected his own
:17:28. > :17:30.kick but we'll just check it. Yeah, there's no problem with that,
:17:31. > :17:44.everyone is behind him, anyway. That's fine. OK, we need to see a
:17:45. > :17:48.bit closer to the line, please. So he slides, ball carrying arm is
:17:49. > :17:59.down. He is therefore tackled at that point. And he reaches out and
:18:00. > :18:02.puts the ball down. So if we show it in full speed, to confirm that
:18:03. > :18:23.decision. He comes to stop and reaches out and
:18:24. > :18:34.his ball carrying arm hit the floor. No try. Penalty. Wakefield fans
:18:35. > :18:40.thought they had consolation. And now they know they haven't. Double
:18:41. > :18:44.movement. So not only is it not try, it a penalty for Warrington. Craig
:18:45. > :18:48.Hall thought he had the consolation of starting it all and finishing it
:18:49. > :18:53.all today but he didn't quite finish it. Great chase back from Jack
:18:54. > :18:56.Hughes. He's played 80 minutes in the back row on this right-hand side
:18:57. > :19:00.with Warrington. Craig Hall had all but scored that, chipped back
:19:01. > :19:07.inside. The young back rower chased back, made a tackle and forced Hall
:19:08. > :19:11.into a double movement. The job today was to get to Wembley, it is
:19:12. > :19:17.achieved, but there is still pride in personal performance to chase
:19:18. > :19:26.back and tackle. I thought he had scored a try. Here is paid. When you
:19:27. > :19:31.slow things down it is difficult. Devil 's own job on the video replay
:19:32. > :19:39.to make sense of it. I'm all in favour of watching them back at game
:19:40. > :19:44.speed. The decision on the field is such a major influence of whether it
:19:45. > :19:49.is given or not, isn't it? So why not just give it? Why not just give
:19:50. > :20:02.the referee the ability to give the try? Knocked on.
:20:03. > :20:12.He's had a cracking game, Jack Hughes. I know there's error, there.
:20:13. > :20:17.Not only has he done the tough stuff well, his defence has been really
:20:18. > :20:25.tidy. Controls his rocks. In attack some real good qualities. Scored a
:20:26. > :20:34.try, created one. Him and Ben Currie together, sensational. Is that his
:20:35. > :20:38.fishing, definitely back row? We've seen him pretty effective in the
:20:39. > :20:48.centre as well. I think that his position. Without doubt, yes stop.
:20:49. > :21:00.Here is Lyne. Ben Jones Bishop with a flash down the right-hand side,
:21:01. > :21:03.dragged out of play. Great to see great positivity from Warrington,
:21:04. > :21:17.even at this stage of the game, the game is won. Still out there and
:21:18. > :21:23.celebrating. Man of the match, U2 had the job, who have you come up
:21:24. > :21:28.with? Both half-backs outstanding, Gidley and Sandow. Brett with
:21:29. > :21:32.Ratchford and Evans from dummy half. Clark has been fantastic. But we
:21:33. > :21:37.agreed that Jack Hughes down this right-hand side has played every
:21:38. > :21:43.minute of this game. He was instrumental in crucial plays. And
:21:44. > :21:59.he is the man of the match for this semifinal. Three and a half minutes
:22:00. > :22:08.to go. Definitely in the second half for a long, long time now. Clark is
:22:09. > :22:11.back on the field. Picks up from the feet of Dwyer and off he goes and
:22:12. > :22:21.writes the roughshod tackle. Here goes daily. So, the final tackle in
:22:22. > :22:27.the set. Ratchford putting the kick in, gets a deflection and kicks it
:22:28. > :22:31.on again. It's a sliding theorists. The Manchester United reserve team
:22:32. > :22:39.playing here on Tuesday night. A bit of football work from both sides,
:22:40. > :22:46.there! Just shows, though, a ricochet, but still that hunger and
:22:47. > :22:52.fire in the belly. All of a sudden he gets excited. And there is the
:22:53. > :22:57.Rio Ferdinand to put it into the stands! The Warrington team are
:22:58. > :23:02.expecting things to happen. They are on the front foot. Therefore when
:23:03. > :23:06.things are happening, they are reacting first. Just talking about
:23:07. > :23:14.Stefan Ratchford, he's one of those guys who's really come on
:23:15. > :23:19.positionally. Certainly with Gidley and Sandow taking off some of the
:23:20. > :23:24.pressure and kicking the ball, the likes of Ratchford and Clark have
:23:25. > :23:28.come into their own. I believe Gidley and Sandow do a lot of the
:23:29. > :23:35.things may be Ratchford and Clark don't want to do. Ooh! Well, that
:23:36. > :23:41.was an embarrassment for the Wakefield defence, really. But take
:23:42. > :23:45.nothing away from Toby King. You can only beat what's in front of you. It
:23:46. > :23:59.just so happened that what was in front of him melted away.
:24:00. > :24:06.When you look at a player, you look at what assets he will add to your
:24:07. > :24:15.team. King playing at the back, got a running game, showed the ball
:24:16. > :24:19.twice. Melted was a pretty good description. No glory in the way
:24:20. > :24:26.Wakefield defended this. Fingertips rather than shoulders. Feet are
:24:27. > :24:35.nowhere near the point of contact. King taking advantage. You look at
:24:36. > :24:47.the assets and what it might bring. Brings a lot of versatility. A
:24:48. > :25:11.fantastic try. Stefan Ratchford. Season that
:25:12. > :25:16.started late for him. After surgery on his knee in the close season.
:25:17. > :25:21.While before he got up and running this year. Up and running now in no
:25:22. > :25:41.uncertain terms. His 150th Warrington goal, a little
:25:42. > :25:51.man monkey has reached today. 56-12. -- a
:25:52. > :26:01.dispirited team at the minute trudging up to the halfway line.
:26:02. > :26:04.Warrington fans in raptures at the outstanding performance their team
:26:05. > :26:07.has put in. Got to admire the Wakefield fans as well. The vast
:26:08. > :26:11.majority still here and supporting their team. You support your team
:26:12. > :26:22.through the good times and through the not so good times. Generally
:26:23. > :26:27.this season it has been good times. Ryan Bailey takes it out of play. In
:26:28. > :26:31.fact he just takes it through to the final hooter. It has been a
:26:32. > :26:37.hat-trick of heartbreak for Warrington. Three successive cup
:26:38. > :26:45.semifinal defeats. But now the primrose and blue is back on Wembley
:26:46. > :26:49.way. Hull against Warrington on August 27 promises to be a very
:26:50. > :26:55.special occasion and we have seen a very special performance today here
:26:56. > :27:01.by Warrington, winning at a canter. Last night by Hull in that
:27:02. > :27:06.wholehearted atmosphere and Doncaster, where they beat Wigan.
:27:07. > :27:12.And it all leads to Wembley in just over a month's time. And we cannot
:27:13. > :27:18.wait. Don't forget the forum is coming up. Have a look on the BBC
:27:19. > :27:24.website for that. You can listen and join in through social media. Let's
:27:25. > :27:30.hear from the winning coach, Tony Smith. Many congratulations, how
:27:31. > :27:35.good a feeling is that? It's good. It's been awhile for our club to get
:27:36. > :27:41.to one of the big finals. So it's a nice feeling. The game was pretty
:27:42. > :27:46.one-sided today, I thought. Whilst Wakefield did not give in and throw
:27:47. > :27:52.the towel in, my team did a pretty good job right from the outset, I
:27:53. > :27:56.thought. Wakefield scored that early try. You had a quick chat with your
:27:57. > :28:01.opposite number Chris Chester, what did you say to him? Just one of
:28:02. > :28:03.those days, it was our day. I think everybody here and everybody
:28:04. > :28:10.watching at home, I think the momentum of the game was pretty much
:28:11. > :28:15.one way. But they should be proud of their efforts to get this far. Just
:28:16. > :28:19.wished him the best for the super eights now. They've done a great
:28:20. > :28:23.job, Wakefield, from the start they had at the start of the season. So
:28:24. > :28:28.well done to all. But it's about my boys today. Playing out the game
:28:29. > :28:33.plan, they played it very well. Not flashy but we did some outstanding
:28:34. > :28:37.things today as well. Great support, great noise, go and enjoy it. Let's
:28:38. > :28:42.bring in the man of the match, Jack Hughes. Conference relations. You
:28:43. > :28:47.fell behind early and then you absolutely walloped them. We did,
:28:48. > :28:52.yeah. What an outstanding effort. I can't explain the feeling. We did go
:28:53. > :28:55.behind early but we did not panic, we knew we should just get back to
:28:56. > :28:59.what we do best and the results would come. At what point did you
:29:00. > :29:08.feel you had got them? I'd say about 20 minutes in. We had a fast ruck
:29:09. > :29:12.going, they had a turnover on their own line, I got the feeling then.
:29:13. > :29:19.Some champagne for you, many congratulations. Thanks a lot.
:29:20. > :29:25.STUDIO: Denis Betts, Jamie Peacock, Brian Noble watching alongside me.
:29:26. > :29:28.You could see in Tony Smith's face and in their performance the
:29:29. > :29:34.determination to get to Wembley and put the three semifinals behind
:29:35. > :29:38.them. Since Tony has been there, getting to finals and winning big
:29:39. > :29:43.games has been his remit. Got to a couple of finals and fell short.
:29:44. > :29:46.Today is another big step. They have recruited really well in the
:29:47. > :29:51.off-season. First big challenge was to get to Challenge Cup final, have
:29:52. > :29:58.taken that on. Tony summed it up, it was their day-to-day. I had a tweet
:29:59. > :30:01.from, who was it from? Gareth Freeman. I can't work out whether
:30:02. > :30:07.Wakefield have been poor or Warrington have been great.
:30:08. > :30:11.Warrington were great, outstanding. As good a semifinal performance as
:30:12. > :30:13.you will see. Against a weaker opposition they were ruthless and
:30:14. > :30:16.clinical and had more intent in everything they did physically
:30:17. > :30:18.within the game, allowing them to play with flair in the back half of
:30:19. > :30:28.the second half. And as we see Warrington and the
:30:29. > :30:32.fans celebrate, we need to have a word about Wakefield and the fans.
:30:33. > :30:36.They supported them and did not stop singing during the second half. They
:30:37. > :30:41.were brilliant right the way through. They are still here. The
:30:42. > :30:48.team has gone. It is what Yorkshire people do. It is value for money. I
:30:49. > :30:55.am having a day out, no matter what! What final we have to look forward
:30:56. > :31:01.to. I can't wait. Two great teams. They both think they will go out
:31:02. > :31:05.there and win it. This is the final we have been waiting for for a few
:31:06. > :31:12.years. We have first and third going to Wembley. It's going to be a
:31:13. > :31:16.fantastic day out and hopefully a classic game. Dennis, Jamie and
:31:17. > :31:22.Brian are going to stay with me. We are going to do a forum on the BBC
:31:23. > :31:33.website so if you want to put the question to them, you can can tax --
:31:34. > :31:36.contact us now hashtag. What are final. Warrington against Hull on
:31:37. > :31:46.August 27. See you then.
