:00:47. > :00:55.For me, it's about making that first tackle count. Inspiring those around

:00:56. > :01:00.you. Running through the walls, wearing your heart on your sleeve.

:01:01. > :01:07.If you get knocked down, get back up. And don't let them see you. Get

:01:08. > :01:14.hurt. On the pitch, they called me Psycho. But I never played rugby

:01:15. > :01:24.league. I've always run with the walls. --

:01:25. > :01:28.I've always run with the Wolves. Their wounded right now, but you

:01:29. > :01:32.never forget how to bite. The Warriors are hurting as well. But

:01:33. > :01:39.they always rise to the challenge. Two tribes, won the prize. Come on,

:01:40. > :01:55.Warrington! Not the most impartial opening week

:01:56. > :01:59.ever done to a rugby league show but I wasn't going to be the one to tell

:02:00. > :02:04.him to be more balanced, he's a very scary man! This is a repeat of last

:02:05. > :02:07.season's Super League Grand Final, Warrington against Wigan in the

:02:08. > :02:12.Challenge Cup. They both struggled in different ways this season but a

:02:13. > :02:17.win today could salvage what has been a difficult season for both.

:02:18. > :02:26.And with me for this quarterfinal, two current players, Jon Wilkin and

:02:27. > :02:33.Jamie Jones Buchanan. And Brian Noble in between them, Brian Noble

:02:34. > :02:37.MBE! Which has been awarded to you today! Thank you very much. A bit of

:02:38. > :02:45.a shock and absolutely thrilled for the game of rugby league. If this

:02:46. > :02:49.can spread the word and get someone else recognition. Really proud with

:02:50. > :02:56.my family. I know you're more cup double when we hammer you and take

:02:57. > :03:00.the Micky Adams you, but excuse us for being self-indulgent, we love

:03:01. > :03:05.working with you so we are all very proud of you here. Congratulations.

:03:06. > :03:12.Thank you. I went to the movies yesterday and I saw guardians of the

:03:13. > :03:17.galaxy and I cried, I'm not going to cry today. You have gone in for

:03:18. > :03:22.sartorial elegance. Something like that! Let's talk about the game

:03:23. > :03:26.today, what are you expecting from Warrington and Wigan? Two teams to

:03:27. > :03:29.go out there and where their heart on their sleeves. This is the

:03:30. > :03:34.Challenge Cup, so what gone on in the league is irrelevant. We've got

:03:35. > :03:38.one of the best seats in the house, a massive crowd, looking forward to

:03:39. > :03:41.good afternoon. I think we want to see the best of both sides. In Super

:03:42. > :03:49.League, they've been struggling, that is well-documented how they've

:03:50. > :03:52.struggled. The Challenge Cup at huge opportunity for that to get out of

:03:53. > :03:55.the window. I am looking forward to seeing the best of both of them. We

:03:56. > :04:00.got potential for a cracker of a day, the weather is perfect, it's an

:04:01. > :04:04.exciting Challenge Cup quarterfinal. Does the fact that both teams are

:04:05. > :04:11.struggling, does that at more to the occasion? It will with the scrutiny

:04:12. > :04:14.of the fans, but they get the chance to have a blank piece of paper

:04:15. > :04:21.today. A lot of players back for both teams so they'll be hoping to

:04:22. > :04:24.show the positive side of what they're capable of May have strong

:04:25. > :04:30.teams. There is an element of pressure, the season is over for the

:04:31. > :04:34.losers. In 2009, Warrington won at the Challenge Cup but finished tenth

:04:35. > :04:40.in the league. It's the separation of the competition. It's a separate

:04:41. > :04:43.competition to the Super League, this is completely different, and

:04:44. > :04:48.the recent history is behind them, they will give it their all today.

:04:49. > :04:52.Would you say more pressure? I think there's a lot of pressure on both

:04:53. > :04:55.sides. The big thing that I see is the lack in confidence. Or in some

:04:56. > :05:00.art lacking confidence at the moment. -- Warrington are lacking

:05:01. > :05:03.confidence, that can disappear quickly but they can get it back

:05:04. > :05:08.quickly. Confidence can come back if they have a positive start. The

:05:09. > :05:15.demons are on your shoulder, but it will be important that both teams

:05:16. > :05:19.start well, because whoever goes behind first, the demons will start

:05:20. > :05:26.up saying, here we go again, another long day. There have been two

:05:27. > :05:33.Challenge Cup quarterfinals all ready. Let's start with Thursday.

:05:34. > :05:43.All of the pressure has been on Wakefield in these early stages. He

:05:44. > :05:58.rolled it backwards, and it's dropped over the line by Lannon.

:05:59. > :06:01.Murdoch-Masila now, getting that reputation of being unstoppable at

:06:02. > :06:04.that kind of distance. Eight metres out, right in front of the sticks. A

:06:05. > :06:17.bit of a vessel. Evalds sees a path through that no

:06:18. > :06:25.one else could see. To go one way and die another, and plunge over the

:06:26. > :06:29.line to score the first Salford try. The challenge for Wakefield, this

:06:30. > :06:37.could go either way... This is a Murdoch-Masila, what that is! Greg

:06:38. > :06:43.Johnson the scorer. Salford are celebrating. They think with some

:06:44. > :06:55.justification that there are celebrating a place in the second --

:06:56. > :07:03.in the semifinal. He dropped a pass for Kopczak who

:07:04. > :07:06.rips a whole through the Wakefield offenders. And sheer determination

:07:07. > :07:15.takes into the goal line. The Salford fans on their feet.

:07:16. > :07:26.There is a kick downfield, caught and he dropped the ball backward and

:07:27. > :07:42.Liam Finn will score. The try is given. It's full-time here.

:07:43. > :07:52.Centrefield, the exchange comes back. Has he got it down? Stevie

:07:53. > :08:00.Ward might have forced his way over and he has done.

:08:01. > :08:07.Fumbled behind the line and leads past again, Brett Ferres with the

:08:08. > :08:24.second school. Brett Ferres is through, Harper

:08:25. > :08:30.stops him but he has got it away. His body is certainly over.

:08:31. > :08:46.Complains that he is knocked on that the referee does not agree.

:08:47. > :08:50.Ash Handley with a two-handed dive in the corner, that is the fourth

:08:51. > :09:05.try, a long time coming. Carl Ablett over the try line, Leeds

:09:06. > :09:07.Rhinos with their first points of the second half. They are 40 metres

:09:08. > :09:23.out. Back on the inside, he is so clear.

:09:24. > :09:29.Leeds Rhinos are in again. A little bit more wind in their sales now,

:09:30. > :09:34.Leeds. They appear to be running harder. They look like they've got

:09:35. > :09:38.an extra player on the pitch, and Ash Handley is away. It's too easy

:09:39. > :09:54.for Leeds at the moment. He had two players on his outside,

:09:55. > :09:58.he went inside and he was brought down by James Lockwood. Try save but

:09:59. > :10:02.Leeds Rhinos should have scored, but they do now. Singleton makes no

:10:03. > :10:12.fuss. Back-to-back scores from Brad

:10:13. > :10:17.Singleton. And they are home now as they hit 50. Last one for Leeds

:10:18. > :10:29.Rhinos, Baxter Sutcliffe. Ryan Hall caught the ball and

:10:30. > :10:40.planted it in one fluid motion right on the try line.

:10:41. > :10:46.James Dayton with the commentary there. Confirmation that they make

:10:47. > :10:55.it through to the semifinals. Tomorrow we'll be on air from 2:30pm

:10:56. > :11:00.on beauty to. -- BBC Two. We're going to have now threatening

:11:01. > :11:05.semifinals. -- mouthwatering semifinals. Leeds are back to their

:11:06. > :11:13.best, they had a lot of difference shapes and strategies are so they've

:11:14. > :11:19.been in a good time. Before, I asked Jamie Vardy Leeds. What's the

:11:20. > :11:23.difference about Salford this year? They survived in the skin of 30s.

:11:24. > :11:29.It's something Wigan talk about later on, it's errors. Salford have

:11:30. > :11:32.made the least errors in Super League. They move the ball a lot but

:11:33. > :11:39.they do it with a real clinical position. And they've got a lot of

:11:40. > :11:43.nations working. Michael Dudson executing everything for them. And

:11:44. > :11:46.there's a real change in their mentality. They've also got Flanagan

:11:47. > :11:50.in the middle of the field, a good mate of mine, he's really solid and

:11:51. > :11:57.brings all of the energy and attention to detail to the middle of

:11:58. > :12:03.the field. Quite a dangerous side. People like Murdoch-Masila have got

:12:04. > :12:08.that energy in the edge. It's like starting a small car, he was

:12:09. > :12:13.outstanding in that game. Not just because he's a friend. I'm biased,

:12:14. > :12:20.predominantly because he's a friend! He's pretty good as well. Salford

:12:21. > :12:23.started with the point reduction, they're on the back foot, but they

:12:24. > :12:31.had better games every week. How come double what it for Leeds -- how

:12:32. > :12:38.comfortable was it for Leeds last night? Not that comfortable, we had

:12:39. > :12:40.all of the ball in the opening exchanges and they withheld

:12:41. > :12:48.everything. We had to play some good football. We scored a lot of points,

:12:49. > :12:52.but the big gratifying point was zero, we conceded no points and we

:12:53. > :13:01.saw the people like Adam Cuthbert and dummy half, it was like watching

:13:02. > :13:07.an old player isn't the 70s. He's a real school forward and he brings

:13:08. > :13:11.another dimensional. For Leeds in the second half last night, the

:13:12. > :13:14.shackles were off, when they start playing like that, Joel Moon comes

:13:15. > :13:20.across and linking up with Calum Watkins, when they play like that,

:13:21. > :13:23.they are so dangerous. That element, both of these people have spoken

:13:24. > :13:27.about them about the confidence, I think it's about trust and belief in

:13:28. > :13:33.each other. Sometimes when you're not playing so well, we think it's

:13:34. > :13:37.lack of confidence, but its trust and belief that somebody's going to

:13:38. > :13:39.be there to accept that pass when you do certain things. Adam

:13:40. > :13:47.Cuthberts and is the prime example for Leeds, when he's on his game,

:13:48. > :13:51.flow very well. Let's go to the team today. Let's show you the teams in

:13:52. > :14:03.the Super League table. Sorry about this, John, Huddersfield

:14:04. > :14:12.beat Saints, don't shake your head at me! I had to mention it! I don't

:14:13. > :14:17.want to get hammered by Saints fans. That win for Huddersfield puts them

:14:18. > :14:28.above Wigan. So we can come here to Warrington today with the Wolves in

:14:29. > :14:34.ten. Let's focus on Wigan today, Joe Burgess spent last year playing in

:14:35. > :14:44.the NRL. This season he's back here and his continued where he left off.

:14:45. > :14:53.# It seems like happiness is just the thing called Joe #

:14:54. > :14:56.Have you enjoyed being back at Wigan.

:14:57. > :15:01.It's good, it's home. It was weird when I came back, nothing has

:15:02. > :15:04.changed. It felt like I'd not left, that's how weird it was. All the

:15:05. > :15:12.jokes were still the same. It was good.

:15:13. > :15:18.What's a catch by Joe Burgess to finish! 22 years of age, do you feel

:15:19. > :15:23.like one of the seniors in the squad because this year a lot of younger

:15:24. > :15:28.players have had to come in because of injury? Yes, it felt like I had

:15:29. > :15:34.to take that role. I've got just less than 80 games and my game belt

:15:35. > :15:39.which is quite a lot. A lot of people say, how hard is it for those

:15:40. > :15:42.lads? It was easy for me because when I started playing, I had quite

:15:43. > :15:48.a lot of experienced players around me. Where is this time I've got a

:15:49. > :15:53.bit of experience, but nowhere near what I played under. What about

:15:54. > :15:56.Australia, what was that like? It was the best experience, not just on

:15:57. > :16:01.the pitch but off the pitch. I still had my mum looking after me, doing

:16:02. > :16:07.the washing. So it is the other side of the world, I was doing all that

:16:08. > :16:10.for myself. It was a big step for me and my family. The main reason I

:16:11. > :16:15.came back was, I wasn't getting gametime and that's the reason I

:16:16. > :16:20.went over there. I was just missing playing my hobby again. What's the

:16:21. > :16:26.biggest lesson, apart from the life lessons, what's the biggest rugby

:16:27. > :16:30.league lesson? The intensity, it'll be like this game every week. You

:16:31. > :16:35.look at the team that will play against Warrington, the property is

:16:36. > :16:40.that 12 or 13 of you will have come to the caddy system. What is it

:16:41. > :16:48.about the Wigan Academy that makes it so successful? It's the water!

:16:49. > :16:53.I'm not sure, it's a bit rugby town, everyone enjoyed it, you'd enjoy it

:16:54. > :16:56.when you're younger and you take it on when you're older. And because of

:16:57. > :17:00.this Academy, you've all been together for so many years, you get

:17:01. > :17:04.the oppression the social side can be good as well. We've had a few us

:17:05. > :17:09.recruit you get the impression the social side can be good. We've had a

:17:10. > :17:16.few fancy dress parties. I got quite a few party pictures! This is a club

:17:17. > :17:20.that is used to success, you've been doing it tough recently, seven

:17:21. > :17:25.without a win. How does morale get maintained? It's all about sticking

:17:26. > :17:30.together. You cannot go behind each other's back saying, it's his fault

:17:31. > :17:35.or his fault. This is the time to stick together. This is a big game,

:17:36. > :17:39.a Wembley final at the end of it, whatever you do in the season, if

:17:40. > :17:43.you get to Wembley, that's all forgotten. Exactly, that's my goal

:17:44. > :17:47.at the start of the year. I was looking forward to the Good Friday

:17:48. > :17:51.the Magic Weekend and hopefully getting Wembley. I think Wembley is

:17:52. > :17:55.a real goal. # Because happiness is just a thing

:17:56. > :18:02.called Joe! # And Brian will now tell us who Joe's

:18:03. > :18:20.team-mates are. The massive team today, Sam Tomkins

:18:21. > :18:29.coming back. Anthony Jelley will give pace -- Anthony Gelling will

:18:30. > :18:35.give a lot of power to the centres. An international pairing with New

:18:36. > :18:45.Zealand and England. Joe Tompkins moved to this front row. New Zealand

:18:46. > :18:47.internationals alongside him. And then all England international back

:18:48. > :18:56.line led by England captain Sean O'Loughlin.

:18:57. > :19:06.Southee islanders Willie Isa and Taulima Tautai will partner.

:19:07. > :19:11.Sam Powell, local boy, returning this week and nine Saturn. Thank

:19:12. > :19:21.you. -- and Ryan Sutton. The weather conditions here at the

:19:22. > :19:26.Halliwell Jones Stadium today are absolutely brilliant, a blue sky,

:19:27. > :19:30.they have just picked up the moment where the cloud comes over. It's a

:19:31. > :19:34.really warm, I've had to take my jacket off. That may have an impact

:19:35. > :19:42.on the decision-making today because once sweat gets onto the ball, it

:19:43. > :19:46.can get to be slippery. George Williams, one of the stars for the

:19:47. > :19:51.Wigan team. A brilliant decision maker when he has got ball in hand,

:19:52. > :19:54.but he's picked up over the last couple of seasons with his running

:19:55. > :19:58.game. Ball in hand, he is devastating. He'll be tasked with

:19:59. > :20:03.moving the team around the field alongside his half-backs partner

:20:04. > :20:08.from the New Zealand international team, Thomas Leuluai. Been there,

:20:09. > :20:11.done that, got the T-shirt, silverware in every competition in

:20:12. > :20:19.this game. One of the stalwart of this sport. To be able to get the

:20:20. > :20:27.confidence of the team heading in the right direction. If they do

:20:28. > :20:35.their job properly, they will be able to release this man. He went

:20:36. > :20:40.under the knife last week, Sam Tomkins. -- last year. Your first

:20:41. > :20:46.game back in ten months, how you "Like feeling good, excited, -- how

:20:47. > :20:50.are you feeling? I'm feeling good, excited. I select I've been ready

:20:51. > :20:57.for a few weeks so I'm glad to be here. You picked a good game,

:20:58. > :21:01.quarterfinal of the Challenge Cup. Yes, we wanted as many senior

:21:02. > :21:04.players as we can on the field so this was always going to be a game I

:21:05. > :21:13.wanted to be back for. And Jamie, but as important as his

:21:14. > :21:19.ability, his ability as a senior player. We heard about Joe Burgess

:21:20. > :21:22.talking about senior players being there to help him and they haven't

:21:23. > :21:30.had that this season. At the top and bottom end. In that Burgess video,

:21:31. > :21:33.the young people coming through, what really stands out is how loyal

:21:34. > :21:37.they are. They go to Australia and come back, they want to play the

:21:38. > :21:42.Wigan, they love Wigan. They want to play in the red and white jersey.

:21:43. > :21:45.They are full of enthusiasts. Tomkins is massive and having him in

:21:46. > :21:52.the team will lift every single player. They will get an immense

:21:53. > :22:00.amount of confidence. Also, Gelling, he could be really good. Talking

:22:01. > :22:05.about Wigan getting back to form, releasing Tomkins, that was when

:22:06. > :22:10.there were injuries. I think they could get back to that date. You

:22:11. > :22:15.need balance in any sport, between youth and experience. Gelling Italy

:22:16. > :22:22.six and he's back, Tomkins is 28, -- Gelling is 26. Bateman is 24 but has

:22:23. > :22:28.had 84 club experiences. Three out of the four art internationals and

:22:29. > :22:32.have played at the highest level. The intensity required and the

:22:33. > :22:39.leadership qualities they'll bring will stand them in good stead today.

:22:40. > :22:46.Shaun Wane was really keen, it Sam said, to get experienced people back

:22:47. > :22:49.to get this game, because you need people to the steady the ship as

:22:50. > :22:53.well as the young and excited talent. You have been looking at

:22:54. > :23:01.some of Wigan's play, and their defence, for you, isn't what it

:23:02. > :23:04.should be or what it was. Wigan are usually robust and resilient. Their

:23:05. > :23:10.goal-line defence hasn't been so. This was the game recently, Wigan

:23:11. > :23:14.are always working together and are connected but in this game they were

:23:15. > :23:22.not. There's a couple of reasons, me and Jamie talked before. A lot of

:23:23. > :23:27.the rucks, Wigan were quick near their line. That leads to

:23:28. > :23:32.unstructured defence. It's surprising how many Wigan defenders

:23:33. > :23:37.are left on the floor, or scattered at the ruck. It led to several tries

:23:38. > :23:41.in this game. It uncharacteristic from their defence. Yes, Wigan

:23:42. > :23:46.usually squeezes the life out of you. Everybody looks at the big play

:23:47. > :23:51.when they come together, but Wigan aren't getting one side, not getting

:23:52. > :23:56.the right numbers. A big word that is going to be aborted is trust.

:23:57. > :24:04.It's hard to trust when the ruck is not being one. A question for our

:24:05. > :24:09.pundits here, is that lack of trust about the changes in the Wigan team?

:24:10. > :24:13.We are talking about experience, and wanting experience does on the field

:24:14. > :24:16.is allowing you to change what's going on in the middle of it. So if

:24:17. > :24:20.things aren't going well, you've got enough brains between you to go, we

:24:21. > :24:25.need to do this, work harder from the inside. Whatever it be,

:24:26. > :24:32.experience gives you the opportunity to do that and Wigan have not had

:24:33. > :24:34.that experience. John is an internationally experienced player,

:24:35. > :24:39.people look to him to make decisions. That's what Wigan will

:24:40. > :24:42.look to today, when things aren't going well, those experienced

:24:43. > :24:46.players to make those decisions. We will look at Warrington in a moment

:24:47. > :24:51.but we're going to hear from both head coaches now.

:24:52. > :24:57.Tony, is the key for your guys today to cut out those individual errors

:24:58. > :25:03.and give yourself a chance? Yeah, some of that. We've probably been

:25:04. > :25:06.our worst enemy at times. During some of our matches. But we

:25:07. > :25:09.certainly needed to defend better than what we have been in the last

:25:10. > :25:13.little while. It isn't just what we do with the ball, it's what we do

:25:14. > :25:17.without the ball. We need to have a big improvement there. I'm sure we

:25:18. > :25:21.will today. The guys have trained really well and are really keyed up

:25:22. > :25:26.for this one. You've got a fair few names back, Sam Tomkins, how good to

:25:27. > :25:30.have him back? Fantastic, the way he loves training and what he can do on

:25:31. > :25:34.the field is unbelievable. So please to come and have him back, we have

:25:35. > :25:39.missed in this year. He's a really important member of our team. And

:25:40. > :25:42.you got a few experienced names out you, has there been a selection

:25:43. > :25:47.headache or are they all straight back in? Straight back in. The way

:25:48. > :25:52.they've trained, we've done a great job with the players and they're all

:25:53. > :25:55.fit and ready to go. No question, Anthony Gelling, Sean O'Loughlin,

:25:56. > :25:59.all ready to play. You have been keen to play down that your season

:26:00. > :26:03.pivots on this in terms of silverware, is that to take the

:26:04. > :26:06.pressure off the guys? No, just the reality of it. We're keyed up for

:26:07. > :26:12.it, we want to get through to the next round, it's about taking care

:26:13. > :26:17.of what's in front of them. And that's a very good team in Wigan

:26:18. > :26:21.today. So we're just focusing on what we can do, and not what's down

:26:22. > :26:25.the track too much. We've got to make sure that we deal with what's

:26:26. > :26:30.in front of us immediately. We're just receiving news that Kevin

:26:31. > :26:33.Brown is out after they's game for Warrington, he did come out and warm

:26:34. > :26:39.up but he went back into the changing room for treatment and were

:26:40. > :26:43.told that he's out for this game. We'll bring you more news on that

:26:44. > :26:47.when we get it. We'll bring you the thoughts of our pundits shortly.

:26:48. > :26:51.Let's focus on Warrington as a whole. Runners-up in the Grand Final

:26:52. > :26:58.last year, in the Challenge Cup, and they at a great start this season by

:26:59. > :27:05.beating Brisbane in the World Club Challenge. Thanks for your support,

:27:06. > :27:09.you work eagerly out of the corner of your eye when I got that wrong!

:27:10. > :27:15.But it's not gone great for Warrington since then.

:27:16. > :27:20.This will send the message that Warrington are the team to be

:27:21. > :27:23.beaten. # Hello, darkness, my old friend,

:27:24. > :28:03.I've come to talk with you again. # # and a vision that was landed in my

:28:04. > :28:18.brain still remain. # and the sound of silence.

:28:19. > :28:23.It has been a tough season and it could be a tough afternoon because

:28:24. > :28:27.the last few minutes Kevin Brown was pulled out of this game for

:28:28. > :28:33.Warrington. With more news on that and how they are going to play this

:28:34. > :28:37.afternoon here as a reporter. Kevin Brown, I think he did not last

:28:38. > :28:42.a single run when they were warming up about five or ten minutes ago.

:28:43. > :28:48.Apparently it is a foot injury that has caused him to pull out.

:28:49. > :28:59.Warrington have a completely star-studded squad anyway.

:29:00. > :29:11.Gidley and Stefan Ratchford have worked together before. What they

:29:12. > :29:15.need to do is focus on severely all, the big boys. Darren Clarke, Ashley

:29:16. > :29:23.Sims, International is, they have the fire power to put Wigan under

:29:24. > :29:30.pressure. This was Kevin Brown in the warm up.

:29:31. > :29:39.You can see the grimace and the shake of the head. Not good. He was

:29:40. > :29:44.out last week with a foot injury, this was the defeat against

:29:45. > :29:48.Castleford last weekend. Obviously he has not recovered enough to play

:29:49. > :29:55.in this Challenge Cup quarterfinal. That was him in earlier heading down

:29:56. > :29:59.the tunnel. He is out and Brian will tell us who replaces him and the

:30:00. > :30:05.rest of the Warrington team. A huge responsibility on Stephan

:30:06. > :30:07.Ratchford to give this team a lift, the second appearance for Will

:30:08. > :30:15.Dagger on the wing and powerhouse Tom Lineham completes the back

:30:16. > :30:27.three. Equally adaptable in the centre, Jack Hughes and Ryan Atkins.

:30:28. > :30:30.Kevin Brown misses out today but Dec Patton comes in. A big

:30:31. > :30:36.responsibility on his partner Kurt Gidley. Mike Cooper and Ashton Sims

:30:37. > :30:49.internationals have to help Daryl Clark. Benjamin Jullien, Joe

:30:50. > :30:55.Philbin, the young Warrington player and international Joe Westerman

:30:56. > :31:06.locking the scrum. Dummy have run and hooker Brad Dwyer. Prop George

:31:07. > :31:12.Clingan with the huge job to do. I always think as fans when somebody

:31:13. > :31:17.pulls out in the warm up we think it is really dramatic. How much of the

:31:18. > :31:23.negative will it be for those Warrington players? Disheartening.

:31:24. > :31:28.The last five or six minutes is difficult, watching that. When you

:31:29. > :31:33.go into a game like this the last thing you want to do, it is not the

:31:34. > :31:39.pain you are worried about, it is letting your team mates down. You do

:31:40. > :31:45.not want to be a hindrance. Watching that the key takes me back to last

:31:46. > :31:56.year. It is awful. You start to doubt yourself. Have I ever been any

:31:57. > :32:00.good? In my case, probably not. I go back to that word, trust, you have

:32:01. > :32:05.to trust in your preparation, trust in your coating and trust in what

:32:06. > :32:10.your team-mates can do. He was carrying this injury last week, so

:32:11. > :32:14.being realistic Dec Patton was on the bench in the likelihood that if

:32:15. > :32:22.Kevin pulled out in the warm up he would go in. These things are talked

:32:23. > :32:27.about. They would have been prepared for it. That said, losing Kevin

:32:28. > :32:31.Brown is a huge blow but I think Warrington are prepared. It can have

:32:32. > :32:35.the disheartening effect that Jamie has talked about on it and have the

:32:36. > :32:39.galvanising effect John has mentioned. Dec Patton is used to

:32:40. > :32:46.playing a mystery demand starting and in many people's IAC should have

:32:47. > :32:53.been starting in the first place. They will be ready. You mentioned

:32:54. > :32:56.about Salford and errors and how they have committed the least number

:32:57. > :33:04.of errors in Super League this season and yet the opposite is true

:33:05. > :33:06.for Warrington. Yes, it is so important, controlling possession

:33:07. > :33:10.and maintaining possession and starving the opposition of

:33:11. > :33:16.possession is so important. They have made a lot of small cynical

:33:17. > :33:21.errors in contact but what it is doing is crippling them in terms of

:33:22. > :33:25.energy and they have made a lot of errors coupled with one of the

:33:26. > :33:31.highest missed tackle totals in the competition which is a toxic

:33:32. > :33:35.combination. When you are making errors it makes everything much more

:33:36. > :33:39.difficult. It is not what they do with the ball, it is what you do

:33:40. > :33:45.without it. What to do with the ball affects what to do without it. It

:33:46. > :33:51.can be very dangerous when you have that. When it goes wrong it can be

:33:52. > :33:56.terrible and it looks bad as well. There's a couple of things

:33:57. > :34:01.tactically. Warrington are known for running out of there are half, Matty

:34:02. > :34:05.Russell, Stefan Ratchford, Daryl Clark, that gives them quickly so

:34:06. > :34:11.they can running teams and exploit their weaknesses. They are missing

:34:12. > :34:15.Russell and Hill and they have not managed my because they have not

:34:16. > :34:22.completed, to put much pressure on the defence. Warrington's strength

:34:23. > :34:27.is their weakness. Their strength as they are unpredictable. Fast, quick,

:34:28. > :34:32.dynamic, but that is their weakness because the light. Sure when you are

:34:33. > :34:36.not going well and the lack of direction leads to errors so your

:34:37. > :34:45.strength and weakness are often the same thing. If you are unstructured

:34:46. > :34:51.and you have a freedom about you and yet you are struggling, you

:34:52. > :34:56.mentioned last season, you are right with self-doubt. Do you tried to

:34:57. > :35:02.hard which is then a bit of a problem in unstructured play? Yes,

:35:03. > :35:07.you can do. It is forgetting about what has gone on in previous weeks.

:35:08. > :35:10.This is a separate competition. They have to wear their hearts on their

:35:11. > :35:16.sleeves and I love that word galvanise. The Challenge Cup has to

:35:17. > :35:26.be the most galvanising competition in my career. One of the most ad

:35:27. > :35:34.first moments of my career. Look at the beauty of the Challenge Cup, it

:35:35. > :35:38.is galvanising. For Warrington, if they get all of those bets right

:35:39. > :35:45.today they are in a huge... They have a huge chance to win the game.

:35:46. > :35:49.When they run out of dummy half... Daryl Clark is looking dangerous and

:35:50. > :35:54.they are rolling you down the field, that is very difficult to deal with.

:35:55. > :35:57.Wigan have a lot of experience and defensively are fully equipped to

:35:58. > :36:01.deal with Warrington. If Warrington get on the front foot and play the

:36:02. > :36:09.ball quickly and destroy Wigan through the middle they could have a

:36:10. > :36:14.great day. For both coaches when your teams are struggling, for

:36:15. > :36:18.different reasons, it is about finding the balance as the head

:36:19. > :36:24.coach, is it not come to want to change things and help your team but

:36:25. > :36:32.not micromanage? We have to muck unbelievably experienced coaches who

:36:33. > :36:35.will know how to do that. They have to trust the courts that they can

:36:36. > :36:44.believe this is the kind of football weekly. Wigan will go back to what

:36:45. > :36:48.they have been playing. Two slight differences, Wigan have met a lot of

:36:49. > :36:54.people for a lot of the season. Warrington have not had the trust

:36:55. > :36:58.and belief to play how they wanted. Both coaches will know what to do.

:36:59. > :37:03.It is about the trust and belief in them to do it. When you are losing

:37:04. > :37:08.the tendency is to overanalyse and when you are winning the tendency is

:37:09. > :37:12.to under analyse. You never want to be in the extreme is. You do not

:37:13. > :37:17.want to overanalyse or under analyse. You have to mag experienced

:37:18. > :37:24.coaches who know how to navigate the middle zone. Also knowing when the

:37:25. > :37:28.time is to change the style of rugby that has been successfully

:37:29. > :37:34.previously. If it is not working how long do you give it before you try

:37:35. > :37:38.something different? That is a great question. It is very difficult. It

:37:39. > :37:43.is trial and error but you have to rely on the experienced players. A

:37:44. > :37:50.lot of them have been through these periods before. They are learning

:37:51. > :37:57.every time they go out. It is digital, you learn. Whether you win

:37:58. > :38:04.or lose is not as important as how you feel on the Saturday morning. It

:38:05. > :38:10.is the journey. I do not think Warrington will change the way they

:38:11. > :38:15.play but it has risk and reward. If the roads are good, what to Wigan.

:38:16. > :38:22.Wigan for me are slight favourites because of the size, they are going

:38:23. > :38:27.to pound their way I'd Warrington. We have not even spoken about the

:38:28. > :38:33.kicking game, that could be crucial. It is taking a while to get Wigan

:38:34. > :38:37.out of the dressing room. I am not going to ask you that you think is

:38:38. > :38:46.going to win, who is this game more important for? Wigan. Warrington.

:38:47. > :38:52.The teams are coming out for the Challenge Cup quarterfinal.

:38:53. > :38:54.Warrington at home to Wigan. Two teams with great Challenge Cup

:38:55. > :39:05.history who are struggling this season. Let us join the commentary

:39:06. > :39:10.team. Very warm and getting hotter sums up the weather. Lukewarm I

:39:11. > :39:15.needed to get hotter sums up the current form of two of the biggest

:39:16. > :39:22.names in rugby league. Something has to give for the positive here today.

:39:23. > :39:28.Something has already given. Dec Patton on the field. He starts the

:39:29. > :39:34.game today. He was expecting to be 18th man. Kevin Brown withdrawn

:39:35. > :39:40.because of injury and Stewart Pearce, you were saying a few weeks

:39:41. > :39:42.ago he feels more emotional watching Warrington than he has since

:39:43. > :40:50.watching QPR as the 14-year-old. A minute's silence in pick-up layups

:40:51. > :41:01.served in memory of the victims of the recent London fire. That was

:41:02. > :41:08.wonderfully observed. There is a great atmosphere in here, good noise

:41:09. > :41:14.inside the stadium. This is the way they are aligning up today.

:41:15. > :41:20.Warrington first. Late change, Dec Patton in for the injured Kevin

:41:21. > :41:25.Brown. 18-year-old Dagger is making his second appearance. His debut was

:41:26. > :41:35.last week at Castleford. Ryan Atkins returns after a week off. Wigan

:41:36. > :41:43.making a headline making six returnees, most notably Tomkins for

:41:44. > :41:52.the first time since last September. Anthony Kelly had a six-week

:41:53. > :42:03.absence. My guess is the referee will probably be required! Wounded

:42:04. > :42:10.Warriors against the wounded were false. This will be a season in hand

:42:11. > :42:15.thing left for whoever wins today. Silverware are not quite hanging by

:42:16. > :42:19.a thread for these two but if they go to the Challenge Cup it is going

:42:20. > :42:23.to be difficult for the losers to pick up anything of any real

:42:24. > :42:31.consequence this year. That is the importance of this game. It is a

:42:32. > :42:36.vital game for both teams. The theatre is set out perfectly. The

:42:37. > :42:40.playing surface is superb. Not a cloud in the sky, not a breath of

:42:41. > :42:50.wind, we should see a feast of rugby we've. The bench is going to have a

:42:51. > :42:54.huge impact on the game. The Wigan players coming back, it is a great

:42:55. > :42:59.opportunity for them to make a big statement, especially Tomkins. His

:43:00. > :43:08.presence on the field noted by the Warrington fans with his first

:43:09. > :43:14.touch, the boos ringing out. He grew up as a Warrington fan and used have

:43:15. > :43:20.a Jonathan Davies shirt. It is great to see him out there. He is a

:43:21. > :43:27.high-quality rugby league player and we need them out there on the big

:43:28. > :43:41.stage. Warrington offside. The penalty for Wigan. He knew he was

:43:42. > :43:48.offside. Years offside. O'Loughlin picks him out. Easy penalty. Give

:43:49. > :43:54.the referee no option. Got involved in play. Smart by O'Loughlin. That

:43:55. > :44:02.is the type of play you do not need in conditions like this, energy

:44:03. > :44:07.sapping conditions. Joel Tomkins and Sam Tomkins off back on the field,

:44:08. > :44:15.we have to differentiate. That was Joel Tomkins. They have missed the

:44:16. > :44:28.man. Just the World Cup challenge game when Wigan left the background.

:44:29. > :44:40.Ratchford is across and has it covered. But did well. Just puts the

:44:41. > :44:46.ball on the toes. A penalty from Joel Tomkins I believe. Interference

:44:47. > :44:53.in the ruck. Slowing the play of the ball down. Dangerous tackle. Yes.

:44:54. > :45:09.The legs got lifted. Warrington need to settle. Complete the set and put

:45:10. > :45:12.in a good kick. Gidley goes left. Cooper does not do a lot of fancy

:45:13. > :45:20.work but he does a lot of the hard work. Off of the chest of Benjamin

:45:21. > :45:25.Jullien, advantageous played. Tomkins went after that and he fell

:45:26. > :45:32.over. Tomkins is claiming that Ratchford clipped him. The touch

:45:33. > :45:37.judge 's own from the far side. I was going to say that was the

:45:38. > :45:45.advantage played. With Warrington you just need to complete the set.

:45:46. > :45:53.That is a poor pass over running the play. Clever play by Tomkins. Was it

:45:54. > :45:58.intentional? Not sure if it is intentional but he does obstruct

:45:59. > :46:06.them. He is on the way to thing the ball and he obstruct them so it is a

:46:07. > :46:11.penalty and it could be easing them. Ratchford is being called forward.

:46:12. > :46:22.He is the player with the player microphone today. Penalty, and of

:46:23. > :46:26.story. He is lucky not to have a yellow card because it was cover

:46:27. > :46:35.play by Tomkins and there was nobody in position, he could have scored.

:46:36. > :46:41.That was the guy that obstructed Sam Tomkins. There is no one there when

:46:42. > :46:50.he goes through. In the meantime the game continues. Warrington having to

:46:51. > :46:58.defend less than ten from there or not mine. Wigan in prime position.

:46:59. > :47:04.Farrell celebrated his 200 Wigan appearance at Hull last week.

:47:05. > :47:09.Gildart is very close but is going to be held up and is looking on in

:47:10. > :47:15.the process. Warrington get a huge boost. Great defence, Gidley making

:47:16. > :47:21.the tackle. They got the numbers right. They got off of the line and

:47:22. > :47:27.put pressure on the ball carrier to force the error. Great defence from

:47:28. > :47:37.the Warrington Wolves. Did exceptionally wall. No excuse for

:47:38. > :47:45.mistakes, perfect conditions. There are 11 players in the Wigan 17 who

:47:46. > :47:50.have come from the one system. One of five current Wigan players in the

:47:51. > :47:58.squad whose dad played for Wigan. That is the tight gene pool. The

:47:59. > :48:07.coach has been involved in developing these kids down the years

:48:08. > :48:11.as well. Warrington have a very decent accounting system themselves

:48:12. > :48:17.as well. Looking to bring this forum through Ashton Sims. Some decent

:48:18. > :48:27.line speed from Wigan. Decent ball from Ashley Sims. Of course Daryl

:48:28. > :48:33.Clark. Eight times Challenge Cup winners, Warrington. 2009, 2010,

:48:34. > :48:40.2012. Some of the players on show today would've been involved in

:48:41. > :48:47.those and here they are with Gidley putting in a very neat and tidy

:48:48. > :48:56.kick. That is what they want to do, settle down. Not put themselves

:48:57. > :49:02.under pressure. Cut the errors out, Warrington, attacking play will

:49:03. > :49:06.come. When you think they started that said ten metres from their

:49:07. > :49:11.calling, they covered virtually the whole length of the pitch, they will

:49:12. > :49:19.be delighted to hand the ball over and to challenge Wigan to go there

:49:20. > :49:23.full-length again. We are talking about it being perfectly and

:49:24. > :49:30.conditions. Take it from someone who has played during the summer, it is

:49:31. > :49:35.so hot it is far from perfect. The team that does the least amount of

:49:36. > :49:40.defence and tackling will benefit. If you can have the shot at some

:49:41. > :49:44.point, look at the Warrington bench, they have taken their players from

:49:45. > :49:48.the bench and sat them out of the sun. They understand the importance

:49:49. > :49:56.of keeping their players out of the sun and energy levels today. A

:49:57. > :50:08.little bit of a concern. A green card, a medical card, he is off for

:50:09. > :50:14.a ten minute head text. 15. To check that he is OK. He must return to the

:50:15. > :50:29.field if years. They will be hoping that Leuluai returns. Williams again

:50:30. > :50:33.gets the kick away. Ratchford has touched it safely and. He was the

:50:34. > :50:45.lead darter this season because of injury. Pretty much in scones than

:50:46. > :50:51.the side now. Plenty of energy from both teams, I am impressed by both

:50:52. > :50:55.sides's offensive line speed, attempting to restrict the go

:50:56. > :51:04.forward of the opposition. Ashley Sims takes it in. It is slowed down

:51:05. > :51:15.by O'Loughlin. Gidley again from the halfway line. It is a very good kick

:51:16. > :51:20.again. It is a very good kick but I think get Tomkins to run the ball

:51:21. > :51:29.back. There is Leuluai getting his head in the wrong position. The head

:51:30. > :51:33.hits the hip bone, you have to get off and get that checked. I thought

:51:34. > :51:46.you were going to burst into song there, the head hits the hip bone.

:51:47. > :51:51.This defensive set is for asset restart which makes it theoretically

:51:52. > :51:57.easier to defend against. He has had some highs and lows in his career,

:51:58. > :52:03.Kevin Brown, in the Challenge Cup. Matt Clemens and on the touchline.

:52:04. > :52:07.2009 when he limped off, the Huddersfield defeat against

:52:08. > :52:12.Warrington. He will be hoping his side can bring homeless

:52:13. > :52:19.quarterfinal. It is Wigan who are causing trouble at the moment. A

:52:20. > :52:24.very good carry. His nickname is the wrecking ball and he was there. He

:52:25. > :52:36.has not always been the wrecking ball this season. Bateman ask the

:52:37. > :52:44.questions. Last play in the set, taken wide. The kick will go out of

:52:45. > :52:54.play and give Warrington their own line. Warrington looking to buy that

:52:55. > :53:01.little bit of time. Tremendous run. An aggressive run. All to the

:53:02. > :53:12.ground. One advantage they have is gelling, any cross kicks, and

:53:13. > :53:16.Burgess, the height advantage of those two, I do not think they will

:53:17. > :53:31.be very impressed with the last kick on the tackle, that was a simple

:53:32. > :53:36.click. Is there an issue on the right-hand side of Wigan's defence

:53:37. > :53:41.is Bateman and Gelling are out there in terms of later in the game in

:53:42. > :53:47.terms of match fitness? You trust your sports scientists and make sure

:53:48. > :53:51.that once they enter the field of play they can play the required

:53:52. > :53:55.minutes. I am sure the Wigan coaches will have done that. Atkins has

:53:56. > :54:15.nearly taken it to the halfway line. Tomkins looks into the sunshine but

:54:16. > :54:20.comes down with the ball. Good kick. Put the ball to the air. As Tomkins

:54:21. > :54:26.received the ball he received the tackle so that is one tackle

:54:27. > :54:33.straightaway. You do not want to be kicking and without giving him a

:54:34. > :54:37.little bit of time and space. Tomkins with the carry and the

:54:38. > :54:44.flawed. Williams was there. Sharply anticipating. Another eight or nine

:54:45. > :54:56.yards gathered in the process. Clever play. Quick hands. He has got

:54:57. > :55:00.Burgess. Gildart looks to time the pass and does so to perfection.

:55:01. > :55:09.Burgess 's overtures go and Wigan have first blood. What a try.

:55:10. > :55:12.Brilliant play. They noticed the numbers were shot on the Warrington

:55:13. > :55:21.right and loverly created the overlap. Lovely pass by O'Loughlin.

:55:22. > :55:27.He does the dummy run and creates the space on the outside and it is a

:55:28. > :55:36.simple finish, two on one. That is just a vision. Tremendous play from

:55:37. > :55:40.the Warriors. That is this dart from Tomkins. It has very strict a try at

:55:41. > :55:45.the other end. Clever how these stripped the numbers and it was the

:55:46. > :55:50.perfect pass from Tomkins to Gildart and he just weighed up and bought

:55:51. > :56:01.enough time for his wing man and released him. Great try. Total

:56:02. > :56:05.vision. Lovely pass by that man. O'Loughlin just from when they

:56:06. > :56:11.played the ball you could see the advantage, he read it very quickly.

:56:12. > :56:16.Tomkins the long pass the extra man and finally the long dummy run. This

:56:17. > :56:22.is Wigan's problem, turning four into six. Problem possibly solved

:56:23. > :56:28.because Williams has stuck that over. Their conversion convergence,

:56:29. > :56:33.penalty conversions, have been a very law percentage this year. It is

:56:34. > :56:41.important Williams has nailed the first one. Admire the play from

:56:42. > :56:48.O'Loughlin to Tomkins to Burgess. It was executed to perfection timing

:56:49. > :56:57.wise. A great try to start this quarterfinal. Looking at Williams'

:56:58. > :57:06.kicking style, he is quite relaxed. I watched him before the game and he

:57:07. > :57:10.was very relaxed. The restart has been knocked on and that his gifted

:57:11. > :57:17.Warrington a real boost because all things being equal getting the ball

:57:18. > :57:25.back and they can lead siege at the Wigan line immediately.

:57:26. > :57:30.Anthony Gelling was responsible for that, he was shielding his eyes from

:57:31. > :57:34.the sun, it was the brilliant sunshine that caused the problem,

:57:35. > :57:43.and gave Warrington Wolves the great opportunity to strike right back.

:57:44. > :57:46.Warrington have been doing it tough of late. Is this the moment that

:57:47. > :58:06.character strikes through? I'm not sure if Ashton Sims meant to

:58:07. > :58:23.do that but it was effective. No miscommunication on that

:58:24. > :58:31.occasion. Benjamin Jullien has been a dynamo of late in the second row.

:58:32. > :58:38.Cooper gets the penalty. Too much going on from Powell. Do they run

:58:39. > :58:43.this? Yeah, I think they've got to run this. I really do. You can see,

:58:44. > :58:50.Gidley bringing the ball back to tap it. Because whilst he's tapping it,

:58:51. > :58:54.they've come forward. It will allow them to set the point that they

:58:55. > :58:58.require. Whatever shape they're going to throw this Wigan defence.

:58:59. > :59:13.Not quite online with the tap originally so taken again.

:59:14. > :59:22.There's another penalty. I think Sam Tomkins when high on that occasion.

:59:23. > :59:31.This is of the energy for Wigan. A silly mistake by Sam. Watch, around

:59:32. > :59:55.the necks, he Comes in. Unmissable from the referee's point of view.

:59:56. > :00:09.The muscular route if the crime -- is the prime objective but they will

:00:10. > :00:12.go more clever than that. Great defence there from Wigan. Really

:00:13. > :00:19.holding their composure, holding the line.

:00:20. > :00:27.A knock-on there. One of those customary Warrington mistakes of

:00:28. > :00:31.this season. And they've missed out on the last chance they had. The

:00:32. > :00:36.difference between the quick play of the ball and composure. You're under

:00:37. > :00:41.the posts, yes, you want to play the ball but the priority is, it's a

:00:42. > :00:46.proper play off the ball. Just keep your composure. They've got two

:00:47. > :00:48.sets, get the ball if he's on his feet, it's a repeat set and use up

:00:49. > :01:08.the energy. Williams will take his time.

:01:09. > :01:15.Differential penalty. Scrum offence, technical offence. Must be so

:01:16. > :01:18.frustrating for a coach. It was clever from Wigan, they held the

:01:19. > :01:24.ball in the back row there. Virtually dummied which meant the

:01:25. > :01:30.referee had no option to give the penalty. A piggy back out from the

:01:31. > :01:33.danger area. Talking about frustrating, how frustrated is Kevin

:01:34. > :01:40.Brown feeling at the moment? He's chatting with Tanya. What exactly is

:01:41. > :01:44.the problem? The bottom of my foot, I have torn something a couple of

:01:45. > :01:57.weeks ago. I've not been able to train. I've got it wrong. Was it

:01:58. > :02:01.always likely to be that Ward would have to play? Yeah, he trained in

:02:02. > :02:05.the week, I went to the doctor yesterday, had a scan and thought we

:02:06. > :02:11.could get an injection and numb it. But disappointing. But obviously

:02:12. > :02:16.Declan is a great player so he'll get the job done. The key here but

:02:17. > :02:20.the conditions, is it to play smart? Yes, that's what we spoke about,

:02:21. > :02:24.it's very hot today, ball control and kicking well. We started really

:02:25. > :02:26.well, we just need to not get frustrated and stick to the process.

:02:27. > :02:33.Thank you for your time and stop. Tanya looks like a young Jackie

:02:34. > :02:48.Onassis in their sunglasses! Warrington set themselves a

:02:49. > :02:54.possibility but oh no further. Wigan's defence holds on. They're

:02:55. > :03:02.defending their own line very well, I think the on line defence is an

:03:03. > :03:07.area of weakness for Wigan. But my word, they have been really good in

:03:08. > :03:12.the first part of this offer. We're now approaching 18 minutes, there'll

:03:13. > :03:16.be some tired bodies. This will allow the game to open up,

:03:17. > :03:23.especially in the heat of this condition. Some comments from Jamie

:03:24. > :03:27.Peacock, they are playing tomorrow. He was talking about how Warrington

:03:28. > :03:30.are having a bad time of it at the moment, but their muscle memory of

:03:31. > :03:37.playing in a couple might carry them through her. They've been in seven

:03:38. > :03:47.of the eight Challenge Cup finals at this stage. They are helped by a

:03:48. > :03:50.Wigan mistake. So many mistakes. I think it's fatigue, but also an

:03:51. > :03:57.element, the ball can get greasy when it's as warm as this, sweaty

:03:58. > :04:02.hands on there. But ball control is paramount in these conditions. The

:04:03. > :04:10.position is virtually 50-50. Warrington just shading in

:04:11. > :04:18.territory. The statistic that really matters is a 6-0 to Wigan. He's all

:04:19. > :04:23.right, he's had his head checked, so he comes back onto the field,

:04:24. > :04:33.Leuluai. It doesn't count as an interchange. It's come down a little

:04:34. > :04:38.bit. He's returned within 15 minutes, so that's an injury

:04:39. > :04:51.assessment, he's past that and he's back out, no interchange.

:04:52. > :04:59.Brilliant tackle, he's been brilliant so far this game. Michael

:05:00. > :05:05.McIlorum has led the defensive line, he's hit everything. I don't think

:05:06. > :05:08.we've mentioned Liam Marshall so far, he's placed twice against

:05:09. > :05:15.Warrington this season and scored seven tries. He has been one of the

:05:16. > :05:25.finds of the season. Spent a lot of the last season at Swinton Lions,,

:05:26. > :05:32.and really quality player, one of many at Wigan Warriors. It's

:05:33. > :05:36.amazing, he's a natural finisher. He is the good young fellow, son of

:05:37. > :05:47.David Marshall, who played for Wigan.

:05:48. > :05:56.Gelling only just short of the try line.

:05:57. > :06:06.Out to Burgess and Burgess! Well, has he got to there? He was in the

:06:07. > :06:12.air, he definitely wasn't in touch. He dived in, so it's definitely not

:06:13. > :06:19.in touch. Let's hear from the video referee for the first time today.

:06:20. > :06:24.Confirming the grounding. We've got a try as the live decision. So,

:06:25. > :06:34.Burgess has decision, and he's in the field of play. He now jumps. And

:06:35. > :06:39.his feet are off the floor. It's still in his hand. Still in his

:06:40. > :06:45.hand. As the ball comes down. That's in his hand, corner flag doesn't

:06:46. > :06:52.count, his fingers are on the ball, that's a try. That's a great finish.

:06:53. > :07:00.A brilliant finish. He realises he's not going to stay in the field of

:07:01. > :07:14.play if he tries it. A brilliant finish. That's all on the back of

:07:15. > :07:17.knock-on. Again, errors, first tackle knocks it on, second give

:07:18. > :07:24.them a penalty and field position. On the back of that field there is

:07:25. > :07:28.are a superb couple of floats. Williams to Burgess. We've seen some

:07:29. > :07:35.great finishes. Here are the off-loads. It goes, and then

:07:36. > :07:40.Tompkins, Joel Tomkins had the presence of mind to off-load to

:07:41. > :07:45.Williams, and then a real acrobatic finish. Absolutely sensational

:07:46. > :07:50.finish that is. But just as much there in the couple of off-loads,

:07:51. > :07:56.pot up, all under control before the ball goes out. And there's the

:07:57. > :08:03.circus act. Sometimes, that's all you can say. They are even kicking

:08:04. > :08:10.goals today. Two out of two, and 12-0, we can now lead. Warrington

:08:11. > :08:13.needing to dig deep. They need in response but this is real

:08:14. > :08:18.high-quality rugby league from the Wigan Warriors. It's not shape and

:08:19. > :08:22.structure, it's another form of attack, the off-loads to bring the

:08:23. > :08:26.defensive line up. Not much difference in the stats. They've had

:08:27. > :08:30.two opportunities and they've been clinical and scored both

:08:31. > :08:33.opportunities. That's the difference. Warrington haven't

:08:34. > :08:41.really created anything off the ball. The possession they have had,

:08:42. > :08:46.it's swung Wigan's way, territory as well. Burgess had injury issues,

:08:47. > :08:52.he's played 14 games this season, missed a few more than he would have

:08:53. > :08:55.liked. That's all, that was his 14th try, I think. It's all about strike

:08:56. > :09:06.rate. You've got to sort the defence out

:09:07. > :09:14.on this side, Warrington. Again, the overlap was on. There is an error of

:09:15. > :09:19.confidence about Wigan..., there is the commentator's curse! I think

:09:20. > :09:25.this could be the game where Wigan can make a statement. With all of

:09:26. > :09:33.their big names back, they've had a poor season so far. Last year,

:09:34. > :09:44.complaining about how good Wigan's defence was, they could get that

:09:45. > :09:47.back. Joe Tompkins that's Dan Cole drop prior to the defensive line,

:09:48. > :09:49.he'd been involved in the build-up with a great off-load in the

:09:50. > :10:09.collision. So a real contrast. Salford and Leeds already in the hat

:10:10. > :10:17.for the semifinal, or, the big plastic bowl, as we should also

:10:18. > :10:24.think he -- as we should more succinctly call it these days!

:10:25. > :10:33.Another mistake. It cannot build momentum with so many errors. It's a

:10:34. > :10:37.pretty basic one, he's just lost it in the tackle. No hands in from the

:10:38. > :10:43.Wigan Warriors. Plain and simple, dropping in the tackle. I walked

:10:44. > :10:47.across the pitch as well, the pitch is in brilliant condition. A lovely

:10:48. > :10:52.sunny day. I'd have loved to have played in these conditions. Give me

:10:53. > :10:58.these conditions rather than January or February, any day of the year.

:10:59. > :11:04.You are only saying that because you want them to say, what about that

:11:05. > :11:09.muddy day in Halifax where it used idiot in two tries? -- where you got

:11:10. > :11:47.two tries? Liam Marshall is chasing after this,

:11:48. > :11:51.but not good enough hands on that occasion from Liam Marshall. He

:11:52. > :11:55.punches the ground in frustrating, he was anticipating try number eight

:11:56. > :12:01.in game number three against Warrington. It was a high-quality

:12:02. > :12:05.decision by Thomas Leuluai. Just to get the ball through. The Warrington

:12:06. > :12:13.defence was up and in and he just slipped it behind. That is a guilt

:12:14. > :12:19.-- that is a golden try that Marshall coughed up. Brilliant from

:12:20. > :12:25.Leuluai, he brought it through the defence. I sense as well, Tompkins,

:12:26. > :12:29.he's just feeling his way into the game. He hasn't really gone for it

:12:30. > :12:34.big style, just feeling his way in. He's not going for the brakes, he's

:12:35. > :12:41.off-loading when he can. Slowly breaking into the game. A chance

:12:42. > :12:47.here for Warrington. To build some pressure. Get themselves back into

:12:48. > :12:51.this game, only 12 points behind. But they need something

:12:52. > :12:56.psychologically here to dig themselves out and back into the

:12:57. > :13:00.contest. That was a pretty good tackle from Williams. He bent his

:13:01. > :13:12.back, hit with the shoulder, put it to the floor.

:13:13. > :13:35.A bit of a loose and wild pass but it is taken.

:13:36. > :13:45.A kick to ask a question or two, and what a take by Ryan Atkins! There is

:13:46. > :13:51.some athleticism out on that deal today, is under there? And Ryan

:13:52. > :13:55.Atkins has just shown that Warrington has as much as Wigan.

:13:56. > :13:59.That's a perfect kick, because that's where Gelling dropped the

:14:00. > :14:03.ball with the sun in his eyes. You can't really commit and go into the

:14:04. > :14:07.air to take it. That's where the advantage is. He can't jump, he

:14:08. > :14:12.doesn't know where it is, he just goes late and he just jumped in

:14:13. > :14:19.front of him. It's absolute spot-on brilliant kick. There are aiming for

:14:20. > :14:23.Thomas Leuluai, it's between him and Anthony Gelling, and Ryan Atkins

:14:24. > :14:28.just comes up on the blindside of both, ties his run and jump, almost

:14:29. > :14:39.like a high jumper in the Olympics. That's a great, great to try.

:14:40. > :14:55.If Declan Patton can squeeze this to a 6-point margin with a successful

:14:56. > :15:00.kicks, Warrington will be feeling better about themselves. A local

:15:01. > :15:09.youngster, played with community clubs here and hereabouts, he put it

:15:10. > :15:12.over and it's six points to 12. Strategically is hugely important

:15:13. > :15:21.try for Warrington Wolves, they will have great confidence, crashing

:15:22. > :15:22.their better attacking line and that the kick in, they haven't done that

:15:23. > :15:36.over the past three sets. 12 minutes of the half remaining.

:15:37. > :15:42.And just what Warrington needed. We could look back on this first

:15:43. > :15:47.half-hour and say it's a tale of two kicks. Leuluai's kicking would have

:15:48. > :15:52.been pounced on by Marshall and scored, they would have been 16, 18

:15:53. > :16:02.points up, and then Atkins comes up with a six point of the other end.

:16:03. > :16:16.He's lost it. Well, Willie Isa... He didn't want to get hold of that. I

:16:17. > :16:23.think he wanted a breather. That was tremendous, the skill in the kick

:16:24. > :16:42.and the athleticism in the jump. Superb rugby league.

:16:43. > :16:54.Williams feeds Wigan, they come out with it. Joe Burgess already sensing

:16:55. > :16:56.the prospect of hat-trick, his second try earlier had the real wow

:16:57. > :17:05.factor. Bateman keeps running in and running

:17:06. > :17:28.hard. Step for George Williams that we

:17:29. > :17:29.hopefully see in England's team in the World Cup in December and

:17:30. > :17:33.November. Only one plate to go, Warrington

:17:34. > :17:50.looking to hang on. All options run out eventually. The

:17:51. > :17:54.Warrington defence are coming up very aggressively on the edges. Sam

:17:55. > :17:59.Williams is inside and there preventing him getting the kick

:18:00. > :18:03.away. A good edge of defence from Warrington, but Wigan are switching

:18:04. > :18:08.the ball back inside and testing the honesty of the middle channel of the

:18:09. > :18:13.Warrington Wolves. And boy, are they missing some players today,

:18:14. > :18:20.Warrington. Kevin Brown a late withdrawal, and Chris Hill out

:18:21. > :18:28.because of suspension, and Dale Hill, he has not been seen all year

:18:29. > :18:37.because of injury. Penalty Wigan. That's what you need to do, get a

:18:38. > :18:47.view quick boys into the half with darting runs. You're right, that's

:18:48. > :18:50.where they are on the money in conditions like this, they have to

:18:51. > :18:51.get in there and help the big players, get in there and test the

:18:52. > :19:11.agility of the opposition. Sam Wilde made his debut against

:19:12. > :19:12.Wigan a couple of years ago. The two years anniversary of that debut

:19:13. > :19:39.here. Atkins has got a second! Anything

:19:40. > :19:49.Burgess can do, Atkins can do just as well. But... The referee thinks

:19:50. > :19:56.it a try. But he wants to know if Atkins came from an onside position.

:19:57. > :20:01.So back with the TV referee. The live decision is try. If we can

:20:02. > :20:07.pause it on the set. He looks to be behind there. It looks K. Play on,

:20:08. > :20:10.that is play on. Just check the grounding now, please. Just to check

:20:11. > :20:19.that the ball is grounded OK. It's ticked up clean, Atkins has the

:20:20. > :20:26.ball, it's down, before he goes dead, it's a try, confirmed the try.

:20:27. > :20:30.Wait for this raw. CHEERING

:20:31. > :20:41.what a magnificent response by Warrington. Now it is a tale of

:20:42. > :20:46.three kicks. Superb from the Wolves. It is the two half-backs on the

:20:47. > :20:49.short side, and that attracted some doubt in the Wigan defence. And it

:20:50. > :20:54.came up aggressively, a little toe poke through and Ryan Atkins once

:20:55. > :20:58.again he has done one in the air, this time he gets behind the

:20:59. > :21:02.defence, picking the ball up in midair and plucking it over the

:21:03. > :21:06.white. It's clever, because Tomkins was caught in the tackle area. He

:21:07. > :21:10.was right behind the play of the ball and he was out of position. So

:21:11. > :21:15.he left himself a little bit too much to get there. It's a clever

:21:16. > :21:23.kick and this kid noticed it. Declan Patton didn't think he's been

:21:24. > :21:28.playing today but he's put over a conversion to make it 12 points

:21:29. > :21:34.apiece. Tomkins gave themselves a little bit too much. Beautiful

:21:35. > :21:43.kicks, good try. Well, we've got a cup tie now. We have. I hope there

:21:44. > :21:50.isn't another significant kicks because then it would be a tale of

:21:51. > :21:55.former critics. Well, the -- a tale of four kicks. Well, the defence is

:21:56. > :22:02.so good, it's an option that's working well. Tackle count in the

:22:03. > :22:09.90s, temperature in the 90s, but, but a mistake there from George King

:22:10. > :22:14.has put Wigan in prime position. So, so frustrating, that is. So

:22:15. > :22:19.frustrating. You've just read gained parity on the scoreboard and it's

:22:20. > :22:28.sloppy in the condition. And he's done so well so far. So well, yes.

:22:29. > :22:29.But that's a basic error. Now Wigan 20 metres within the Warrington

:22:30. > :22:40.Wolves line. This is a higher standard of

:22:41. > :22:44.performance from both sides than either have produced of late?

:22:45. > :22:48.Definitely, this is a dapper cup tie. You can tell there's a lot at

:22:49. > :22:50.stake and both sets of players are executing and playing very, very

:22:51. > :23:01.well. Bateman doesn't look like the

:23:02. > :23:09.biggest kid on the block but he hits above his weight. Williams has lost

:23:10. > :23:19.its and the hunger to get there is all Warrington's. They have it back

:23:20. > :23:23.again. Great enthusiasm from the Wolves, but it was behind his

:23:24. > :23:27.shoulder. But look at the enthusiasm of the Wolves players to claim that

:23:28. > :23:54.ball. He was trying to make the referee's

:23:55. > :23:58.decision for him there, wasn't he? He decided that barrel wasn't square

:23:59. > :24:05.and went at him. But nothing giving from the man with the whistle, and

:24:06. > :24:12.the end of the kick which is Miss measured. Very disappointing,

:24:13. > :24:16.instead of having a scrum, they have now got zero tackles to go. It

:24:17. > :24:21.really does give them some yardage to deliver. The tackle count starts

:24:22. > :25:06.with this as the first. Gelling looked forward but Marshall

:25:07. > :25:13.is allowed to carry on. And Atkins can't keep hold of him and somehow,

:25:14. > :25:19.Liam Marshall does get try number eight in only his third game against

:25:20. > :25:23.Warrington. This season. There has to be a question over the past in

:25:24. > :25:32.the first place. A bad pass and tackle. Look at this again but

:25:33. > :25:35.Warrington will be very disappointed with their defensive effort here.

:25:36. > :25:42.Just watch, lovely play again, Tomkins again, that's a forward pass

:25:43. > :25:47.it looks like. Well marked, two people, Atkins is all over him. But

:25:48. > :25:54.he allows him free, should never, ever score. That's forward by a

:25:55. > :25:59.mile. I think the crowd and Denise this screen agree with you. It's

:26:00. > :26:07.hard to argue against it. But if the whistle doesn't go, you played it,

:26:08. > :26:12.that's what were Liam Marshall did. And the defenders brushed off with

:26:13. > :26:15.almost contemptuous ease. To reiterate, in rugby league, you

:26:16. > :26:19.cannot look at a forward pass on video evidence. You cannot refer to

:26:20. > :26:24.the video referee for a forward pass. No, it's got to be an on field

:26:25. > :26:27.call. There are three officials, they should catch it, they should

:26:28. > :26:40.see it. We saw it as it was happening.

:26:41. > :26:50.Another touchline effort. That's a really good hick from George

:26:51. > :26:59.Williams. He's nailing it today, three out of three, 18-12, Wigan

:27:00. > :27:03.lead. Yes, this is the try. Leuluai creates the overlap. It's that last

:27:04. > :27:08.pass that there are questions about. But some good footwork there,

:27:09. > :27:14.brushes Atkins off, ratchet is looking to get involved, but it is

:27:15. > :27:19.too late. Ash macro Ratchford is looking to get involved but it is

:27:20. > :27:23.too late. You imagine what it means to him. I think that's the most

:27:24. > :27:28.demonstrative celebration of his entire career. He's usually such a

:27:29. > :27:34.cool try scorer. Now, Wigan have dropped the ball. It will go out of

:27:35. > :27:40.play. Warrington will get it back here. There is time, two minutes,

:27:41. > :27:46.Warrington quick to the pack. They'll stop the clock. George King

:27:47. > :27:50.involved in that. The error from the kick-off previously. Sutton is

:27:51. > :27:57.bringing the ball back, a good solid shoulder contact from George King

:27:58. > :28:02.and he forces the ball three. That is a ball carry error, that was

:28:03. > :28:07.King's great technique which forced that.

:28:08. > :28:27.More errors made by Wigan so far, forced or under.

:28:28. > :28:37.Ratchford taking on Gildart but there are three of his mates. A

:28:38. > :28:44.penalty here. The referee has not stopped the clock. There's still

:28:45. > :28:48.time for a full set here from Warrington. A great opportunity

:28:49. > :28:55.because it is at the end of the half and there will be some tired bodies.

:28:56. > :29:12.Gidley. They have some chance. What a tackle on Lineham. Brilliant

:29:13. > :29:18.tackle. He has saved four points. He goes with a great deal of urgency

:29:19. > :29:24.and determination and aggression. He had some ground to cover. He said to

:29:25. > :29:38.me did, great cover tackle. Saved his team four points. The awareness

:29:39. > :29:43.to turn and smash into touch. There's so much in this game for

:29:44. > :29:49.both sides. It has been a really good game of belly bandit is what

:29:50. > :29:56.the Challenge Cup is all about. Wigan will see this set through you

:29:57. > :30:03.would have thought until half-time. Basic efficient set of six to run

:30:04. > :30:11.the clock down. Bateman tacking back. I do not think they demand was

:30:12. > :30:16.expecting that. It has given Warrington perhaps a sniff of a

:30:17. > :30:22.chance. They stopped the clock with 12 seconds, 11 seconds to go. Time

:30:23. > :30:25.for one play for Warrington. I cannot understand what Bateman is

:30:26. > :30:35.doing with the clock running down. Tries to offload. As soon as these

:30:36. > :30:41.is formed that referee can stop the clock and the urgency has bought

:30:42. > :30:51.them an 11 second opportunity. I would take the ball on the line for

:30:52. > :30:58.the kick through. There is no fool back. Take the ball on the line and

:30:59. > :31:07.turn your centre. Chase this. You have 11 seconds left. What happens

:31:08. > :31:16.here? Take it to the line. Ratchford saw the gap. Can he play the ball

:31:17. > :31:22.before the hooter sounds? Yes. This will be the last play. Atkins was

:31:23. > :31:26.after it. All Gelling had to do was make sure it went out of play and

:31:27. > :31:33.that is what he did. A fascinating end to a fascinating half. Great

:31:34. > :31:41.first half, defences were very good. Good space and awareness by the

:31:42. > :31:45.Wigan boys. It has been a great half, both teams contributing

:31:46. > :31:54.greatly and the game is wide open. Nothing short of what we should

:31:55. > :31:58.expect from a quarterfinal. You did not seem too disrupted by Kevin

:31:59. > :32:04.going out in the warm up. Deck has been in that position most of the

:32:05. > :32:11.year himself. Devon really wanted to play, he was always going to be

:32:12. > :32:17.pressuring -- as yet. We probably need to do a bit more defensively, a

:32:18. > :32:23.bit smarter. We are looking forward to the second half. William, how

:32:24. > :32:35.pleased were you with the first half, Donna? Two tries Orthotics is

:32:36. > :32:40.a bit disappointing. It is so hot. What are the conditions like? Yes,

:32:41. > :32:45.just making sure you have good game management and you look after the

:32:46. > :32:50.body. Hopefully we will be on the end of the opportunities. A

:32:51. > :32:58.fascinating first 40 minutes as all of the commentary team said at the

:32:59. > :33:15.end of that half. Here are the facts.

:33:16. > :33:25.A compelling first half. Partly because both teams have made errors.

:33:26. > :33:29.Both teams have made errors and I am looking at Warrington and a lot of

:33:30. > :33:34.their errors have come because they are trying to play the ball too

:33:35. > :33:41.quick. If they give it an extra second or two they can play properly

:33:42. > :33:46.and could do less defending. Is that easy to do in a game like this? A

:33:47. > :33:51.second or two does not own very long to me sitting here but in the needs

:33:52. > :33:59.of the game like this it feels like an eternity. Playing on Friday night

:34:00. > :34:02.at eight o'clock when it is a bit drier the ball might come out in a

:34:03. > :34:11.couple of seconds. It is warm out there. Everybody is sweating. Made

:34:12. > :34:15.makes a little bit of a difference. You have to think I am going to play

:34:16. > :34:22.the ball slower for the sake of my team. It is not the date to have the

:34:23. > :34:30.amount of errors both teams are having, inviting each other into

:34:31. > :34:34.each other's half. We have probably seen something similar from

:34:35. > :34:41.Warrington, defending better than we highlighted at the top of the shore.

:34:42. > :34:44.It is going to be something like a missed tackle like we saw at the

:34:45. > :34:51.end. You just stonewalled me there. I

:34:52. > :34:57.knew you never listen to me! Now he is an MBE he can do what he wants!

:34:58. > :35:03.As far as Wigan's tries are concerned... The first Burgess try

:35:04. > :35:08.was a smart these of play from Wigan. Within creating the illusion

:35:09. > :35:13.they are going to carry the ball tight. O'Loughlin spots the

:35:14. > :35:19.Warrington line is tight and gets a wide pass that wipes out four

:35:20. > :35:25.Warrington defenders. He is expecting the kick. Gildart takes

:35:26. > :35:29.the space and time says pass perfectly and Burgess finishes. A

:35:30. > :35:37.smart piece of execution from O'Loughlin. Tomkins, Gildart and

:35:38. > :35:40.Burgess had work to do and did it fantastically well. Great try off

:35:41. > :35:50.the back of some great goal-line defence. This is the second try,

:35:51. > :36:00.superb from Sutton. Tomkins finds the play. The money ball from

:36:01. > :36:08.Williams. He just misses out. Traps two defenders. The players did I'm

:36:09. > :36:10.going to Warrington. Great off-load. A special piece of skill, as the

:36:11. > :36:20.weird is coming to solve the problem, he gives proper God Burgess

:36:21. > :36:26.the opportunity to score. Not just popping it up and hoping, there is a

:36:27. > :36:33.great deal of control. It is a great discipline. Even the first try, it

:36:34. > :36:37.was a Tomkins off-load. To try to recover in the Warrington defence

:36:38. > :36:41.ended up tight and it is ironic how we talked about Warrington doing the

:36:42. > :36:51.off-loads, it is Wigan who have done it in the first half. Looking at the

:36:52. > :36:57.Wigan dressing room. Look at Wigan's defence. We spoke about how they

:36:58. > :37:00.have defended on their line. They did not defend very well against Lee

:37:01. > :37:08.and that in isolation might suggest they might do the same here. Wigan

:37:09. > :37:14.were willing to slow it down so much they could concede penalties. They

:37:15. > :37:17.thought nothing quick, we would rather concede penalties and that

:37:18. > :37:23.restricted Warrington's chances to create base and score points. We

:37:24. > :37:28.didn't thought we are going to slow this down and finally it ended with

:37:29. > :37:34.a huge tackle from Marshall. That was a sign that Wigan's goal-line

:37:35. > :37:40.defence was on. Warrington came up with a way to unlock that defence.

:37:41. > :37:45.They were prepared to test the waters with the referee. They are

:37:46. > :37:48.going to push into the utmost limit to prevent Warrington getting a

:37:49. > :37:52.quick play. It is a sign of belief when you are willing to give a

:37:53. > :37:57.penalty away to defend another set of six. It shows the confidence.

:37:58. > :38:01.They have identified they cannot allow Warrington to play the ball

:38:02. > :38:09.quick. The way the unlock the defence was through kick. When

:38:10. > :38:16.Castleford beat St Helens you tried to kick Iraq is to land on

:38:17. > :38:24.scrum-half or centre. Gidley is getting the ball for Atkins. This

:38:25. > :38:31.kick is pinpoint perfect. Atkins executes an unbelievable catch. A

:38:32. > :38:37.world-class kick and catch to score a try. Credit to Wigan as much as

:38:38. > :38:42.anything. Tomkins got in the tackle. He got a marker. This is the

:38:43. > :38:49.difference between some getting their tackling and getting the ball.

:38:50. > :38:54.Superb kick. Sam Tomkins is tied up and because the Wigan defenders come

:38:55. > :39:00.off of their line so quickly they are relying upon the full-back

:39:01. > :39:04.cleaning up those small kicks. In the old days you may be tried to

:39:05. > :39:09.land it right on the winger whereas now it is landing on the smaller

:39:10. > :39:19.guys and if not there in the guy behind him. Leuluai. Usually a

:39:20. > :39:24.little man. Then people like myself who never want to catch a ball as

:39:25. > :39:27.they can help it. It makes a massive difference. That is what teams are

:39:28. > :39:32.doing, pinpointing these points outside the sticks that are

:39:33. > :39:40.difficult to defend. We are going to kick the ball, St Helens, the next

:39:41. > :39:46.time we play Leeds, towards someone specifically. There probably was a

:39:47. > :39:51.former pass in this. Probably. Whether it is forward or not a young

:39:52. > :40:02.player on the Wigan side showing amazing strength and resilience. He

:40:03. > :40:08.said I am not giving up on this. Regardless of whether it was forward

:40:09. > :40:12.this shows confidence, strength and execution from a young athlete and

:40:13. > :40:22.what a great finish. That is desire in a nutshell. Tomkins, Williams and

:40:23. > :40:26.Leuluai played their part. It meant Marshall had a chance because they

:40:27. > :40:33.managed to go at the Warrington line and commit defenders. After that

:40:34. > :40:37.Wigan gave away three errors. Eg Ball towards Warrington. It felt as

:40:38. > :40:41.if if Wigan could keep hold of the ball they were in the ascendancy but

:40:42. > :40:46.it did not happen. The last five minutes of the first half was crazy.

:40:47. > :40:51.The try saving tackle came after that try so he kept his

:40:52. > :40:57.concentration. That is what it always comes down to. Fatigue makes

:40:58. > :41:00.cowards of us all. It is about concentration. You have to keep

:41:01. > :41:07.focused on your job and trust each other. It will come together and

:41:08. > :41:15.collectively. The other quarterfinal is tomorrow. It will be on BBC Two.

:41:16. > :41:23.Hull against Castleford at 3pm. The build up from 2:30pm. We will have

:41:24. > :41:37.the rugby league for after we come off of air. X years ago the state of

:41:38. > :41:43.mind charity began working with Super League, aiming to promote

:41:44. > :41:44.positive mental health amongst players, fans and officials within

:41:45. > :41:59.the sport back of rugby league. Rugby league is the first sport in

:42:00. > :42:03.the world to have a dedicated round of fixtures to do with mental

:42:04. > :42:09.health. Last year we reached over 8 million people. So if 0.01% of

:42:10. > :42:14.people seek help the potential as we can save a lot of lives. Danny

:42:15. > :42:17.Scunthorpe became involved in the charity after sinking into

:42:18. > :42:21.depression when injury ended his career. He says being able to talk

:42:22. > :42:26.about his problems saved his life. It is not just players who are

:42:27. > :42:31.vulnerable. Former referee Ian Smith battled with mental health issues

:42:32. > :42:38.when he left the game. I felt I lost my identity. I had refereed for 12

:42:39. > :42:44.years. Because of the external pleasures referees Aboud under,

:42:45. > :42:50.people do not realise you are a human being who make mistakes. It is

:42:51. > :42:54.a very lonely and isolating place. The former professionals are taking

:42:55. > :42:59.their message beyond the game presenting their stories to an Alpha

:43:00. > :43:03.male environment like Pleasance, the urgency services and building sites,

:43:04. > :43:06.to encourage men to talk about depression. If of rugby league

:43:07. > :43:12.player can talk about how we're feeling anyone can. We only get

:43:13. > :43:16.positive feedback. We did a construction site 12 months ago in

:43:17. > :43:20.London and the day after seven men went to eat Charan said they were

:43:21. > :43:25.struggling and needed to get help. Construction sites you are five

:43:26. > :43:28.times more likely to die from suicide than an accident on site.

:43:29. > :43:34.Some of the tweets we get an amazing. People have said we are

:43:35. > :43:39.making a massive difference and they had contemplated taking their lives

:43:40. > :43:43.until they got on this programme and it is incredibly rewarding. It is

:43:44. > :43:49.like therapy. The initiative could be broadened into other sports. This

:43:50. > :43:53.is a world first. The rugby league community and the RFL and particular

:43:54. > :43:59.deserve every credit, the Department of Health, their recent policy,

:44:00. > :44:07.revised policy on suicide prevention, and the Parliamentary

:44:08. > :44:11.select committee both commended rugby league and state of mind as

:44:12. > :44:18.the benchmark for other sports as well. It is not only important

:44:19. > :44:24.within the game but also getting the message out to building sites and

:44:25. > :44:29.the like. Absolutely. The ability to talk about your problems is not easy

:44:30. > :44:33.for a lot of people, particularly professional sports men and rugby

:44:34. > :44:37.players who are held up as icons to be pillars of society but we all

:44:38. > :44:41.have problems that you have to find a mechanism and this is a brilliant

:44:42. > :44:45.innovation that has been around for a while in rugby league and to it

:44:46. > :44:52.out to the community is necessary and a must. Turning back to the

:44:53. > :44:58.game, Warrington against Wigan. Radford has been wearing the player

:44:59. > :45:23.microphone for us. This is the first 40 minutes through him. Come on!

:45:24. > :45:30.Trying to turn on him. Sorry. Got! Onside, boys, short side, do not

:45:31. > :45:39.even think about coming to you. Then you will just cut that 20 metres

:45:40. > :45:51.off. Be patient. Great shot. Great work, sausage. Did I hear that rate?

:45:52. > :45:59.Great work, sausage? It is what Brian calls me! Moving swiftly on,

:46:00. > :46:02.when you put on the play are microphone you get different views

:46:03. > :46:08.from different people but evidently he is a leader. Certainly, he is

:46:09. > :46:13.talking about having patience. That is a key ingredient in the second

:46:14. > :46:17.half. They are little bit behind. Stop turning the ball and trying to

:46:18. > :46:24.play the ball too quick. They have the talent to score tries. The team

:46:25. > :46:30.that settles the more is done can be patient going to get to the other

:46:31. > :46:34.end of the field. It sounds simple but Wigan look better physically and

:46:35. > :46:39.more organised. If they can manage to control the ball in the next 1015

:46:40. > :46:47.minutes they will reap the rewards. What do you think, sausage? Cheers,

:46:48. > :46:53.sausage! The short game from Warrington is going to be crucial.

:46:54. > :46:59.They have made a few too many errors but I am excited about the second

:47:00. > :47:05.half. Back to our commentary team. I am not sure how to fall of that.

:47:06. > :47:14.History on the lines the importance of this tie when we go back to 1974.

:47:15. > :47:18.They have met nine times since. One at Wembley in 1990 and the other

:47:19. > :47:23.eight cup ties the winner has gone on to play in the cup final and

:47:24. > :47:31.seven times out of eight of won the cup final. There is momentum builds

:47:32. > :47:36.when you win a Wigan against Warrington cup tie. It is a local

:47:37. > :47:41.derby but the local derby that means a great deal. When the stakes are so

:47:42. > :47:47.high. That has been apparent in the first half. History says it is very

:47:48. > :47:52.apparent as well. Let us see how this next 40 minutes on faults.

:47:53. > :47:58.Anything might happen. The story is waiting to be told. Bateman was

:47:59. > :48:06.instrumental in the first half. As people get tired, playing the right

:48:07. > :48:10.areas, cutting out the errors, with its completion was poor for both

:48:11. > :48:19.sides. Here comes the last in this set. They are losing position. There

:48:20. > :48:26.is a bit of a gamble going on and somehow the day be that is not the

:48:27. > :48:32.ending they would have planned for. Wigan's defences able to move up. I

:48:33. > :48:35.do not think it was the structure of the ending but the outcome was

:48:36. > :48:42.pretty good and that is credit to the Warriors playing. It is a

:48:43. > :48:48.piggyback from Bateman. Warrington are not having to work out from

:48:49. > :48:53.their own line. A high tackle, foul play. Allows the restart to be

:48:54. > :49:08.around the halfway line. Good cheese as well. -- chase. What news from

:49:09. > :49:12.the tunnels? Sean saying that the defence on the kick is not good

:49:13. > :49:16.enough, their goal-line defence much better than it has been in recent

:49:17. > :49:20.weeks, he said they are making too many errors by the players have got

:49:21. > :49:24.the message. Tony Smith has told his team to keep hold of the ball and

:49:25. > :49:30.said that both teams are other being the other to get back in the game.

:49:31. > :49:35.Completion rate is key. It is not rocket science. You have to play the

:49:36. > :49:57.conditions. Whether they are poor great. Dwyer scooting away. Atkins

:49:58. > :50:02.grabbed himself a place in the first half and produced an off-load her.

:50:03. > :50:10.Radford has lost it in trying to keep it alive. Advantageous played.

:50:11. > :50:18.Again on the advantage played there is a foul by a Warrington player. It

:50:19. > :50:28.was Burgess chasing. The penalty is given where the kick lands in such a

:50:29. > :50:35.situation. He just ran across the line. It was clever what Tomkins

:50:36. > :50:44.did. There is Tomkins following. Interference with the chess line. It

:50:45. > :50:52.was not a try scoring opportunity but it was still a foal saw the

:50:53. > :50:57.penalty is given away. They were in the Wigan attacking area. Two

:50:58. > :51:20.incidents later they are 20 metres from their own line.

:51:21. > :51:34.Julian was in there to make sure he was not going further. As to get the

:51:35. > :51:38.pass away quickly. They have got him covered but they have got another

:51:39. > :51:45.tackle to make, Warrington. Wigan with one more play. Across to

:51:46. > :51:49.Williams quickly. Good hands. Forward pass. Before that got to

:51:50. > :51:57.Burgess. 40 country mouth celebrating his hat-trick. He let

:51:58. > :52:11.the pass beat the player. He did not lead to throw that. Gidley overran

:52:12. > :52:18.it a little bit. Tremendous the pass from Tomkins to Williams. Great

:52:19. > :52:23.width. Beautiful play, letting the pass drift past the defender.

:52:24. > :52:35.Another good caddie from Brad Dwyer who has lost that. Farrell picks it

:52:36. > :52:43.up. It is really an issue the number of times the ball has been lost in

:52:44. > :52:52.the collision area, it is an issue for both teams. Bateman has lost

:52:53. > :53:03.that. He has lost that. It was one-on-one. I think that was

:53:04. > :53:17.one-on-one. Tomkins at the word with him. Why did he kick it out? They

:53:18. > :53:24.are furious. It is almost as if Bateman says to the referee, he is

:53:25. > :53:27.only young, can you not let him off? I think Tomkins gave a bit of a

:53:28. > :53:37.coaching lesson after that, shall we say? Marshall 21 and learning every

:53:38. > :53:43.game. What an impact he has had this season. What an impact he has had

:53:44. > :53:48.this game with the try and the try saving tackle in the first half. He

:53:49. > :54:07.is already up to 20 tries in his burgeoning career. Marshall. Eight

:54:08. > :54:10.of those against Warrington. Tough work going on.

:54:11. > :54:22.Good work by Atkins. Jullien really does have a lot in terms of energy.

:54:23. > :54:27.Dwyer with the kick. He did not have to do that. He had the ball and

:54:28. > :54:37.Warrington would have had it for six more tackles. It is the composure

:54:38. > :54:40.and aspect. It is Challenge Cup rugby league. If he guaranteed good

:54:41. > :54:46.tactic in the tackle and had eagle going himself and it would have been

:54:47. > :54:59.another set of six on the Wigan line. Instead Wigan bring its three.

:55:00. > :55:10.Gildart. The kick out of derby have early. It is going to be a 40-20.

:55:11. > :55:14.There was nothing Lineham could do about that. We have seen some great

:55:15. > :55:20.skills with the attacking kicks but that is a great one from distance

:55:21. > :55:30.within his own 40 metre line from dummy half. He just launched the

:55:31. > :55:35.ball. Magnificent kick. Our justice at it. Sutton is going to be held

:55:36. > :55:46.up. Tomkins I should say. He got a penalty. He will go for two here I

:55:47. > :55:54.think. Yes, two scores. This is a gimme, a tap in for Williams. That

:55:55. > :56:01.would take them eight points to the difference in the scores which is

:56:02. > :56:06.two scores. For the opposition. Great kick from Powell. Measured it

:56:07. > :56:10.to perfection. The only way you're going to stop that is if you are

:56:11. > :56:17.standing on the touchline. He holds him down. King is in there. Two

:56:18. > :56:26.points. He had to do that because the defence, they would have had to

:56:27. > :56:33.play the ball. Williams has kicked the mag out of the max so far. Make

:56:34. > :56:44.that four out of four. 20 points for Wigan. Psychologically huge. Huge

:56:45. > :56:46.psychologically but Warrington will feel there's plenty of time they

:56:47. > :57:02.will get opportunities. Both coaches will be happy with the

:57:03. > :57:13.defensive effort, a marked improvement on previous weeks.

:57:14. > :57:19.Knowing the game is not done yet by a long-distance, watching on. 12

:57:20. > :57:21.points in the first half. Having to catch up. Eight points in the

:57:22. > :57:50.second. Good carry. How efficient has that been? Very

:57:51. > :57:57.low risk, very simple, but my word, executed really well with a certain

:57:58. > :57:58.element in the carries. He had away through their but his fielding has

:57:59. > :58:21.been hurt. Philbin is out of the game at the

:58:22. > :58:34.moment, he is receiving treatment. They've got a couple of tackles

:58:35. > :58:44.still to go. This will be the last play in this

:58:45. > :59:00.set. Wigan's defence is smart but the

:59:01. > :59:04.ball goes to ground. Good play from Burgess, not only looked over the

:59:05. > :59:10.ball carry, but he flopped the ball out because it was the last tackle,

:59:11. > :59:32.he was the first to claim it for his team-mates.

:59:33. > :59:40.A bit of a ricochet there as he went up in the. Oh, can't quite help it

:59:41. > :59:46.but it has given heart and opportunity for Ratchford who's that

:59:47. > :59:52.track is really good -- his footwork is really good. Warrington suddenly

:59:53. > :00:06.infused with enthusiasm. They were left short here. That was

:00:07. > :00:09.all because they just played everything quickly, didn't they,

:00:10. > :00:18.Warrington? After Ratchford and Atkins, commend that kick return,

:00:19. > :00:24.but Warrington couldn't get back. Tremendously well, better footwork.

:00:25. > :00:30.That is outstanding. I think a lot: copped him. -- I think Sean

:00:31. > :00:45.O'Loughlin copped him. Keep them lower, back in, please.

:00:46. > :00:54.What an opportunity for Warrington here. Wigan back on the back foot

:00:55. > :01:02.again. Declan Patton safely in touch but here we go. Warrington's tap, 30

:01:03. > :01:13.metres out, six tackles to test this Wigan line again.

:01:14. > :01:33.Just in case, Clarke dives on it, the referee is not bad for the good

:01:34. > :01:39.of the video, he's seen the knock-on. It should be Wigan who get

:01:40. > :01:44.the ball back. If you're playing at the line as Clarke attempted, the

:01:45. > :01:52.pass has got to be absolutely on the button and that certainly was not.

:01:53. > :02:02.If it hits the Wigan player, its play on. And plate and call it a

:02:03. > :02:05.forward pass. I think the big difference at the moment,

:02:06. > :02:10.organisation and composure. 52 minutes, and we've got the applause

:02:11. > :02:14.here, and it is in memory of Mike Naylor, a Warrington supporter of

:02:15. > :02:19.some 38 years who sadly passed away at the age of 52 on his way to the

:02:20. > :02:24.match against Castleford last week. This applause has been organised by

:02:25. > :02:28.the Warrington supporters. One of their most loyal fans. The Wigan

:02:29. > :02:33.fans are also playing their part in this. So the whole stadium

:02:34. > :02:37.applauding in memory of the Warrington fan Mike Naylor. He sadly

:02:38. > :03:03.passed away this week. Oh, dear. And it's a penalty. Yes, I

:03:04. > :03:09.think he got throttled there. The youngster is very elusive, very

:03:10. > :03:17.quick. A bit of interference, he's trying to regain his feet to play

:03:18. > :03:21.the ball. The 52 minutes are up and the Warrington fans are keeping that

:03:22. > :03:25.atmosphere thunderous. They will encourage their side back into this

:03:26. > :03:30.contest. Only eight points the difference. There's plenty of

:03:31. > :03:58.excitement in this. After frustration from Warrington's

:03:59. > :04:11.point of view. Very much so. That 8-point lead, it's looking

:04:12. > :04:14.considerable at the minute. But he's making a nuisance of himself behind

:04:15. > :04:25.the ball, Sam Tomkins. A penalty resulted from that.

:04:26. > :04:44.Again, opportunity knocks for the Warrington Wolves.

:04:45. > :04:53.Ratchford almost picks the ball up and knocked on. That was Burgess

:04:54. > :04:57.trying to pick that up, he has knocked it on. So what an escape for

:04:58. > :05:04.Warrington and they can keep the pressure on. They really can. Trying

:05:05. > :05:07.to find one of his outside runners. A scruffy pass that went to the

:05:08. > :05:14.ground. Burgess just knocking the ball on because the blood no one has

:05:15. > :05:25.-- no one would catch him. 25 minutes to go, still a lot of twists

:05:26. > :05:49.and turns to come. Savelio is over at! What a big

:05:50. > :05:55.moment in the game again, Warrington, Andre Savelio to scorer

:05:56. > :06:04.and Warrington back on track. That was a high-quality score, it really

:06:05. > :06:07.was. When they played, watch what young Declan Patton does. He starts

:06:08. > :06:12.off on the short side and at the very last minute, he goes over.

:06:13. > :06:16.First of all, it's the knock-on from Burgess that gave the field position

:06:17. > :06:25.to Warrington to continue with the pressure. But look at Declan Patton

:06:26. > :06:32.in the background, really executed pass for the back Gidley. Took it to

:06:33. > :06:38.the row and over it goes. Brilliant play, very well executed. Brilliant

:06:39. > :06:51.play by the half-backs. So Declan just goes for another two

:06:52. > :06:57.points which chipped away again, they have never quite been in the

:06:58. > :07:00.lead but they've never been too far behind for too long, Warrington. And

:07:01. > :07:07.now they trailed by a mere two points. It's an absolutely cracking

:07:08. > :07:10.game. Really is. The excitement levels are through the roof. The

:07:11. > :07:14.crowd are really enjoying it as well. The conditions which

:07:15. > :07:18.inevitably will force fatigue to be fact that in the last quarter of the

:07:19. > :07:31.game, but going for a great finish. Nobody is letting their

:07:32. > :07:32.concentration slip, whether they are wearing cherry and white or primrose

:07:33. > :08:01.and blue. Again, Sun in the eyes. It's like they are quarrying against

:08:02. > :08:11.the cliff face of those Wigan defenders. Inch by inch by inch.

:08:12. > :08:15.That's a good carry. Simple carried from dummy half. Took the yards and

:08:16. > :08:22.allows a front foot kick from Gidley.

:08:23. > :08:29.He's lost that, the referee says play on. He had to make his mind up

:08:30. > :08:41.but on we go. The Warrington fans have high

:08:42. > :08:57.expectations now. Good defence. Did really well, the

:08:58. > :09:03.left wing of air, to close that play down. But it's still on for

:09:04. > :09:04.Warrington. Savelio having quite the little cameo here in the last few

:09:05. > :09:24.minutes. I don't get that, third tackle,

:09:25. > :09:29.keeping the pressure on, Ratchford, he does some magical things but I

:09:30. > :09:32.think wrong option there. Yes, that's a decision-making process.

:09:33. > :09:35.Being aware of where you are, what the position of the game is and what

:09:36. > :09:43.the tackle count is as well. It's really left Wigan off the hook. Here

:09:44. > :09:59.is the reason why it Wigan are here now. And our played, very nearly.

:10:00. > :10:06.Leuluai has overcooked this. Not by much, six inches, that's all. But

:10:07. > :10:10.it's given Warrington the ball back in a much more advantageous position

:10:11. > :10:23.than they might have expected it. It's going to put pressure on, on

:10:24. > :10:30.Tom Lineham with the kick. Just a couple of yards.

:10:31. > :10:40.Ryan Sutton and Ashton Sims, you wouldn't like to get caught between

:10:41. > :10:41.the pair of them. In any circumstances, to be honest with

:10:42. > :11:30.you! Suddenly the glory was there, but it

:11:31. > :11:32.goes quickly. Ashton Sims, not sure what he's doing there but he set it

:11:33. > :11:36.along way back, but what he's doing there but he set it

:11:37. > :11:47.along way back, still the six tackle. Lineham trusted chips

:11:48. > :11:55.Marshall and it's an obstruction and penalty. I think the kicker wasn't

:11:56. > :12:04.the greatest, but just watch. He just blocks him there. That's a true

:12:05. > :12:08.piece of indecision by Marshall, another one, the one earlier in the

:12:09. > :12:13.game was when he kicked it out of bounds when it was play on, and that

:12:14. > :12:14.one they're giving a penalty on his own line. The Wigan Warriors are

:12:15. > :12:25.under pressure. Four tackles to go and look how

:12:26. > :12:35.close they are. Great defence from Wigan. Penalty against. Another

:12:36. > :12:41.penalty. McIlorum trying to slow it down. He wasn't clear of the ruck, I

:12:42. > :12:52.believe. Going to goal. They are looking to make it level. This is

:12:53. > :12:57.what aged -- this is what a cup tie should be like, it should be hard to

:12:58. > :13:04.get to the semifinal and the final. There is Michael McIlorum not

:13:05. > :13:11.clearing the ruck, the referee giving the penalty for that.

:13:12. > :13:20.Don't for that, by the way, the form, as soon as we finished here,

:13:21. > :13:33.the red button forum. Lots to chew on on this game. Some issues to chat

:13:34. > :13:43.about. Get involved on the social media with #BBCRL. It is all square,

:13:44. > :13:51.20 points apiece. We move into the last 17 minutes.

:13:52. > :14:00.Salford and Leeds are there, but which will be going from this game?

:14:01. > :14:04.The guys at half-time spoke about how Wigan were prepared to give

:14:05. > :14:09.penalties away to slow the Warrington ruck down. It didn't work

:14:10. > :14:13.for them that time because it's allowed the two points, and allowed

:14:14. > :14:17.it to be even Stevens. He's asking some clarification.

:14:18. > :14:33.I know, but come on, end of story. Yeah, that's my point. Tanya is with

:14:34. > :14:42.a former Wigan hero who was a try scorer when these two last net 67

:14:43. > :14:47.years ago. Yes, Josh is watching, what you make of it? Both sides have

:14:48. > :14:52.not been doing too well in the Super League, this is a great game,

:14:53. > :14:56.showing that they're both switched on and they're battling. 20 all,

:14:57. > :15:03.they could go either way. Is this making you miss a rugby league? A

:15:04. > :15:06.little bit, you want to go to the Challenge Cup final when you see

:15:07. > :15:10.these games, you want some silverware. It games like this where

:15:11. > :15:14.you go towards that so I miss it and little bit. How are the nerves going

:15:15. > :15:20.with the scoreline? My fingernails are battered, I'm jumping up and

:15:21. > :15:24.down. It's good, the club has invited me down, so it's good just

:15:25. > :15:29.to be here to knocking about. Good to see you, thanks to your time.

:15:30. > :15:38.A tremendous effort there in defence. I just can't understand...

:15:39. > :15:46.Look at that possession. They've absolutely dominated possession in

:15:47. > :15:49.the position. At some stage the pie chart will go more even and that's

:15:50. > :15:57.when Wigan must take their opportunity. Why you going to say

:15:58. > :16:01.something, Jonathan? No, I was just going to say, no pressure on them,

:16:02. > :16:05.to take it to ground. Nowhere to pass it, he had nowhere to go,

:16:06. > :16:17.Lineham. Suddenly it opens up and as easy as

:16:18. > :16:28.that, John Bateman. He hasn't played since that World Cup game in

:16:29. > :16:32.February and here he is, try scorer in mid-June, on his first game back

:16:33. > :16:40.and that could be massive in the context of this game this cup run.

:16:41. > :16:44.John said before play, he said, there's no need to pass it. Nowhere

:16:45. > :16:50.to go. And from that that mistakes, field position. Again, they work it

:16:51. > :16:55.well, they got defenders in. They have got the overlap. They are all

:16:56. > :16:58.scrambling across, the gap opened up because they created that overlap

:16:59. > :17:03.and that missed tackle, they were shuffling out wide. He stepped

:17:04. > :17:14.inside of three players. It was really important, Sam Tomkins, his

:17:15. > :17:20.past, heck of a farce. They had to Jan in there, but Lineham managed to

:17:21. > :17:29.get away and the red Sea opened up. All those moments of frustrate

:17:30. > :17:31.frustration that John must've had recovering from a shoulder injury

:17:32. > :17:38.must have disappeared in the blink of an eye there as he scored that

:17:39. > :17:41.try. And Williams kicks again, 100% success rate, unprecedented this

:17:42. > :17:46.season. It was always thing to happen when you said that the

:17:47. > :17:50.kicking was poor, David. Thank you for your support, Jonathan! If

:17:51. > :17:56.you're going to get it right, you might has well get it right when it

:17:57. > :18:05.really matters, a sudden-death cup tie. The parity lasted a mere three

:18:06. > :18:14.minutes. So, Warrington are in fightback mode again. Try and a goal

:18:15. > :18:22.and something more required from the team in Primrose and blue if they

:18:23. > :18:50.are going to win. Reminder, the button forum is coming

:18:51. > :18:55.up after the game. Use the hash tag #BBCRL on social media.

:18:56. > :19:06.Good use of the short side, kept on going down there, opened up and then

:19:07. > :19:16.he steps onto the tackle, Liam Farrell. You'd expect in all honesty

:19:17. > :19:23.John -- Joe Burgess to get that normally. Two hands. There's an

:19:24. > :19:27.injury out there to Daryl Clark to get a bit of treatment, that's an

:19:28. > :19:31.opportunity for the water carriers to get on and for these players to

:19:32. > :19:36.get some fluids inside them. That game tomorrow that we just saw

:19:37. > :19:38.advertised tomorrow, that's going to be a cracker. Hull against

:19:39. > :19:44.Castleford, always going to be something special. I think so,

:19:45. > :19:50.really looking forward to that. Castleford have really set the

:19:51. > :19:54.standards this year. The forward power that they have. A few players

:19:55. > :19:58.coming back, that's going to be one hell of a game. Differential penalty

:19:59. > :20:05.against Wigan for not playing ten yards back at the scrum. They've

:20:06. > :20:09.held the ball at the visit and they've allowed Wigan to come

:20:10. > :20:12.forward so they get penalised. It cheap way to get into the Wigan

:20:13. > :20:33.Warriors half. Clark is going to have a go because

:20:34. > :20:40.there was a gap there, and they are desperately hanging on. Gildart on

:20:41. > :20:46.that occasion, but look how close Warrington are. Ashley Sims has

:20:47. > :20:54.given it away, Bateman picks it up. I'm not sure what Ashton Sims is

:20:55. > :21:00.doing. It is going to put his hands in, just get out of the way. But the

:21:01. > :21:05.second time he's done that. Look how clear their lines are how quickly.

:21:06. > :21:11.Tackle two and inside their opponents half. If we can get the

:21:12. > :21:16.next goal, I think that would be it. I don't know if Warrington have the

:21:17. > :21:24.energy resources to claw two scores back. Nice set up for a drop goal

:21:25. > :21:27.here. They're going wide, I don't think they've got the intention for

:21:28. > :21:36.that at the moment, they've gone very wide.

:21:37. > :21:43.Back to Tomkins, the referee was screaming!

:21:44. > :21:51.Lineham has to catch it, nothing else he could do but catch that and

:21:52. > :21:54.he falls out of play. Oh, hang on. Yes, he has. The weight Leuluai was

:21:55. > :21:59.complaining, I thought there was going to be a decision against

:22:00. > :22:05.Wigan. How good was this kick? Such a good kick, he had no choice. Just

:22:06. > :22:10.watch. No option, really. Add to take it. The youngster did really

:22:11. > :22:16.well there, pulled out of the challenge and so he couldn't get

:22:17. > :22:23.penalised for tackling him in the air. His brain worked well there,

:22:24. > :22:27.great composure, pulled out of the challenge, Lineham at the ball but

:22:28. > :22:36.falls out of play, great opportunity for Wigan.

:22:37. > :22:42.Wigan fans in great voice at the moment, their side have got six

:22:43. > :22:47.point lead but six tackles to make this again another bigger lead one

:22:48. > :23:16.way or another. McIlorum had a little dart at the

:23:17. > :23:20.line, and his urgency to get up and play it has lost it, Joel Tomkins

:23:21. > :23:25.thought that something untoward was done to him, he turned around with a

:23:26. > :23:31.bit of then, the referee blows his whistle and that calmed things down

:23:32. > :23:36.again. McIlorum had a go at the line, didn't he? And then trying to

:23:37. > :23:45.bring the ball back in quickly, just loses it. And there's the dispute,

:23:46. > :23:51.shall we say? You see a similar sort of thing on most school playgrounds.

:23:52. > :23:59.Not very often you seem punches thrown. No, their best friends again

:24:00. > :24:09.now. Scrum down, Warrington ball, back it up. A misunderstanding.

:24:10. > :24:17.You two are best mates, come on, get on with it! Its Warrington's head

:24:18. > :24:25.and feet here, but what a distance to come, 19 metres, nine metres --

:24:26. > :24:30.nine minutes left. It is not beyond the realms of possibility. There's

:24:31. > :24:34.another score in this game, no doubt. It's just whether it's the

:24:35. > :24:49.Primrose and blue or the Cherry and Whites.

:24:50. > :24:53.The fast forward button, a Tony Smith dubbed him a couple of years

:24:54. > :25:19.ago, Brad Dwyer. That's a really poor kick. You could

:25:20. > :25:27.see the idea. But the execution not there.

:25:28. > :25:38.This would seem to have a little more meaning. He made the tackle,

:25:39. > :25:44.new they didn't need to drag him anywhere. It was a good

:25:45. > :25:52.counterattack from the kick return. They've tackled him. Scruff of the

:25:53. > :26:04.neck. REFEREE: now, listen, we had players

:26:05. > :26:07.coming in, I dragged, I don't need your lads coming in, to have a word

:26:08. > :26:10.with them both and let's have it where we've been. Dragging the

:26:11. > :26:49.tackle, according to the referee. Wigan are moving well here, moving

:26:50. > :27:14.efficiently. Marshall knows his way to the

:27:15. > :27:20.Warrington try line. Can he find it? Not quite. So, last play.

:27:21. > :27:33.Eventually. Tomkins is growing for the drop

:27:34. > :27:36.goal. He has put that over. That was one point that might take it out of

:27:37. > :27:45.Warrington's reach because Warrington have to scored twice.

:27:46. > :27:52.Leuluai is there waiting but he took it on himself. Should have closed

:27:53. > :27:57.them down. Stood off of him. That is the smartness that comes with

:27:58. > :28:03.experience. So the half Johns, Tomkins, who took over. He can feel

:28:04. > :28:09.very pleased with his contribution in his first game back after such a

:28:10. > :28:13.long time out. He adds a little bit of extra. He has created a little

:28:14. > :28:20.bit of space today for the outside backs. He has been excellent. Not

:28:21. > :28:26.only an attack. He has been really safe and events as well. -- in

:28:27. > :28:57.defence. Advanced out of the line. Six minutes left to play. Williams

:28:58. > :29:09.drilled at. It hit the man on the way through.

:29:10. > :29:21.Warrington have not lost their fight. Score in this set or the next

:29:22. > :29:36.time they have possession and it would put the cat amongst the bed

:29:37. > :29:39.and again. Gidley standing start. Could not create anything from that

:29:40. > :29:46.situation. Only a couple of pleased to go. Warrington needing a shake of

:29:47. > :29:57.inspiration. Something to happen. Trying to make that happen.

:29:58. > :30:03.Ratchford puts it high in the air. Tomkins cannot get there. Burgess

:30:04. > :30:05.does. He is in the area. If Warrington can keep him there that

:30:06. > :30:15.will consider that a victory. They do. Warrington need some points in

:30:16. > :30:20.this set of six. They really do. That drop goal back from Tomkins has

:30:21. > :30:22.made it a two scored game so they have to score this one to give

:30:23. > :30:33.themselves any chance of stealing it at the end. They'll take a big deep

:30:34. > :30:36.breath. Potential attack and potential defence because everybody

:30:37. > :30:42.knows how important this set is here. If Warrington can find a way

:30:43. > :30:51.over they set up a tantalising finish. If Wigan can keep them out

:30:52. > :31:06.then it is very nearly cup tie won. Marshall's drop. Warrington take.

:31:07. > :31:10.Here comes Wilde with 30 metres to cover around five tackles to do it.

:31:11. > :31:18.Sheer willpower took over the line not that long ago. Dwyer in at dummy

:31:19. > :31:28.half. Clark spins at left. Patton with the dummy. Three tackles gone.

:31:29. > :31:38.Three to go. It is with Gidley. Cooper. He straightens up. Just the

:31:39. > :31:52.two please left. Dwyer again. Gidley! There is the class. Gidley

:31:53. > :31:56.into scorer. His court recognises the importance of that moment. This

:31:57. > :32:04.is still a cup tied to be won and lost. He loves to put the hammer

:32:05. > :32:10.down with his footwork and speed. That is what he did. On the other

:32:11. > :32:17.side of the defensive line to ground the ball. Great dummy, great goal,

:32:18. > :32:29.great try. Game on. He has given all day. There is the dummy. Game on.

:32:30. > :32:35.There's a few moments ago was Patton getting the goal and 26-20 Southern

:32:36. > :32:41.is how the score line reads. The referee stopped the clock with two

:32:42. > :32:51.minutes and 47 seconds to go. -- 44 seconds. This is huge for both of

:32:52. > :33:03.these sites. I am nearly in the defence with Wigan now. Wigan will

:33:04. > :33:11.be tightening up their defence. What a finish. We set this game up at the

:33:12. > :33:14.start as a seasoned fine for two clubs who played had been

:33:15. > :33:19.underachieving in Super League. It is going to be settled than the last

:33:20. > :33:26.two minutes. It is out of play. It is a penalty back, wait -- halfway

:33:27. > :33:31.line. This gives Warrington a chance to potentially kick for all and

:33:32. > :33:39.potentially win the game. I think they will go for two. They have to.

:33:40. > :33:52.This is not the players' decision, this is the coaches decision. They

:33:53. > :34:00.are discussing it. Discussion although. The one thing he has to do

:34:01. > :34:16.is put it dead. What about this for attention? It was not just doubt, it

:34:17. > :34:22.was well out. He told us before the game he had made it a real Tiger. It

:34:23. > :34:28.might come down to this moment. An entire cup tie. If you believe our

:34:29. > :34:35.pre-match hype, an entire season comes down to this one kick. You do

:34:36. > :34:41.not see these men... I cannot remember Ratchford taking a kick

:34:42. > :34:47.from this distance, can you? We will find out. He must know he can get

:34:48. > :34:54.this distance in training. When they came on they said... They were not

:34:55. > :35:03.sure what they were going to do, now it is up to Ratchford. Head down,

:35:04. > :35:09.near light. Stefan Ratchford, the coolest man. He has hit it long

:35:10. > :35:21.enough. He has not got it. It has gone wide. It is God by Marshall. It

:35:22. > :35:28.is going to be a drop out on the 20. The referee is not sure. He cannot

:35:29. > :35:40.drop it underneath the specs. He believes he has taken it out. It is

:35:41. > :35:48.a big call. I am not sure if that went dead. It is an opportunity to

:35:49. > :35:57.drop a goal. There is going to be five tackles. What a game. It is if

:35:58. > :36:05.Warrington gets a drop goal and it is a draw we are into gold and extra

:36:06. > :36:09.time. Only one option, you have to go for the specs and take the point.

:36:10. > :36:20.They will practice this in training. Good yardage. Paul Parson. One More

:36:21. > :36:24.Drive. Keeping that middle ground because they want to make that drop

:36:25. > :36:31.goal when it comes as easy as possible. One more. Is he going? He

:36:32. > :36:37.has gone wide. He wants to get back to the middle. Cooper with a break.

:36:38. > :36:48.That is what Warrington ones. Last play of the game. He has booted

:36:49. > :36:51.wide. They cannot believe it. Right on the hooter. That is the point

:36:52. > :36:58.that could have kept this is an live and instead it goes wide. Wigan win

:36:59. > :37:05.and take a giant step towards Wembley. What a cup tie. What a

:37:06. > :37:15.finish. The Man of the Match is Bateman. Warrington had two

:37:16. > :37:19.opportunities the win that game, once win and the second to dig into

:37:20. > :37:26.golden point, and they blew both opportunities. What a game of rugby

:37:27. > :37:32.league, exactly what the knockout is about, and what a finish to an

:37:33. > :37:36.absolutely riveting game. Good execution on the drop goal. It went

:37:37. > :37:50.away. Lovely break by Powell. They were not sent on. It was not set up.

:37:51. > :37:58.That sums up the day for Warrington. Heartbreak for those in primrose and

:37:59. > :38:04.blue. Sheer joy for the team in Cherry and Whites. What a comeback

:38:05. > :38:09.for Bateman. The match-winning try for him. The Man of the Match. He is

:38:10. > :38:12.with us. Congratulations on the Man of the

:38:13. > :38:23.Match performance. Some up the last few minutes. It was one of those

:38:24. > :38:29.games. It feels good. Really good. Were you watching us that ball

:38:30. > :38:39.drifted towards the specs? I did not even want to watch. Stefan can kick

:38:40. > :38:44.a ball. For you coming back into a game like that, you must be

:38:45. > :38:52.exhausted. Tired. What about your try? It seems to open up for you.

:38:53. > :39:01.Yes. The gap opened and I thought I would run and see how far I could

:39:02. > :39:06.get. Congratulations. Thank you. You cannot have been involved in many

:39:07. > :39:09.games as tight as that. It was a real energy supper, it is the

:39:10. > :39:20.warmest a lot of us have played and for a while. It was a tight game.

:39:21. > :39:27.One of the best games in a while. We wanted to win. Top effort from both

:39:28. > :39:33.teams. I am guessing you aged about ten years in the final couple of

:39:34. > :39:40.minutes. Yes. Glad to Warrington. It was a real performance. Make them

:39:41. > :39:44.work for it. Our players have played for months and months to come back

:39:45. > :39:47.in a game like this. We gave ourselves a lot to do. We have

:39:48. > :39:56.improved but there's still a lot of to do. Tompkins proved his worth. He

:39:57. > :40:04.was great. Game management we controlled our end of sets. We got

:40:05. > :40:12.tries when we needed to score. Overall I do not think we controlled

:40:13. > :40:17.the game. The Warrington players have had a huddle and I am watching

:40:18. > :40:21.below as they are approaching the fans are getting a round of applause

:40:22. > :40:26.from those fans who have read. Various Warrington players going

:40:27. > :40:33.over to Dec Patton and trying to consult them. That is the talent

:40:34. > :40:41.cup, that is what it is about. There are kids crying. Each team could

:40:42. > :40:47.technically have been a little bit better. They have put their hearts

:40:48. > :40:50.on their sleeves. That was a cracking game of rugby league. They

:40:51. > :40:56.would have thought with the drop goal they would be taking it into

:40:57. > :41:02.extra time. With a penalty, Ratchford fancied the kick. He said

:41:03. > :41:10.he wanted the two points. Dec Patton got too flat. He put himself under

:41:11. > :41:16.pressure. Unfortunately missed to the left but what a performance from

:41:17. > :41:21.Warrington. From both sides. We will be on the red button with plenty

:41:22. > :41:26.more reaction to this unbelievable Challenge Cup tie. Wigan are in the

:41:27. > :41:34.semi-finals. We will find out whether Hull broadcasters would --

:41:35. > :41:42.or Castleford will join them. That is tomorrow.
