:00:52. > :01:21.We have to do something... LAUGHTER

:01:22. > :02:28.Oh my word! Welcome to a soldout Keepmoat

:02:29. > :02:33.Stadium in South Yorkshire, today it is east Yorkshire versus West

:02:34. > :02:39.Yorkshire as Hull FC take on the Leeds Rhinos in the chalg Cup

:02:40. > :02:44.semifinal. Hull are of course the current Cup holders having shaken

:02:45. > :02:47.off that never winning at Wembley by beating Warrington last year. This

:02:48. > :02:52.is a lucky venue for them. The last two occasions they've played a

:02:53. > :02:59.semifinal here they've won. Leeds lifted the Challenge Cup in 2014 and

:03:00. > :03:04.2015 and have won in their last Fitch semifinals after a disastrous

:03:05. > :03:08.2016 they are well and truly back. It's all set up for a fantastic

:03:09. > :03:12.match. This is how our weekend pans out. We

:03:13. > :03:17.will be with you here today until 4. 30 and then on to the red button

:03:18. > :03:22.until 5pm. Tomorrow we move to Warrington where Wigan meet Salford

:03:23. > :03:25.to determine who faces today's winners in the final at Wembley on

:03:26. > :03:28.August 26th. It will of course be live here on the BBC.

:03:29. > :03:51.I am delighted to say we What is the rivalry like? It's huge.

:03:52. > :03:57.The next team that FC like to beat is Leeds. Hull FC think they're the

:03:58. > :04:02.best team in east Yorkshire. Leeds think they're the best in west, both

:04:03. > :04:09.think they're the best in Yorkshire. These are two really evenly matched

:04:10. > :04:16.teams. They are. It starts with both forward packs, it always does. An

:04:17. > :04:21.extra front rower gets it starting so well. What's going to be the key

:04:22. > :04:25.today? Good question. Hull have a big team. Keeping possession and

:04:26. > :04:30.keeping their energy is very, very important. Kicking the ball will be

:04:31. > :04:33.important. If they're going to go through the process we think we are

:04:34. > :04:38.which we will explain. For Leeds, they have to move the ball a little

:04:39. > :04:44.bit more and tire out these big players Hull have. It's maybe a

:04:45. > :04:47.contrast in styles. It will be the subtlies that separate the two. The

:04:48. > :04:50.teams are coming out. The noise as they're coming out, it's not even

:04:51. > :04:57.full yet, it's going to be something. This game's going to be

:04:58. > :05:01.huge. Two exciting teams and want to get to Wembley. Two teams that fancy

:05:02. > :05:06.their chance if they can get thu of winning at Wembley, they've both

:05:07. > :05:11.ambition. Let's show you how evenly matched they are by showing you the

:05:12. > :05:14.Super League table coming into this after the regular season. Leeds are

:05:15. > :05:19.sitting in second place. Hull into third with a win over Huddersfield

:05:20. > :05:24.in the final round of games. Today is all about the Challenge

:05:25. > :05:27.Cup. And retaining the trophy they won spectacularly last season. Dave

:05:28. > :05:43.Woods has been talking to local lad Scott Taylor.

:05:44. > :05:49.MUSIC First of all, how much does this

:05:50. > :05:54.mean, this match, this semifinal, how much are you looking forward to

:05:55. > :05:58.it? It's definitely a big one, one obviously you have been counting the

:05:59. > :06:01.days from when it's been drawn to have a Yorkshire derby against Leeds

:06:02. > :06:06.at Doncaster, it will be bouncing, it's a tight walk. You play Rugby

:06:07. > :06:13.League. Good atmosphere last year. First time I played at Doncaster,

:06:14. > :06:17.obviously it's joined on top here, the 11,000 FC fans that there were

:06:18. > :06:21.it was ridiculous, the loudness of it, it was louder than probably

:06:22. > :06:27.actually at Wembley. I just remember in that second half the spell of

:06:28. > :06:30.about five minutes near the end, holding on. You can normally block

:06:31. > :06:37.out the crowd but the constant noise was unbelievable. You have a special

:06:38. > :06:41.anthem with old faithful as well. # Old faithful... I was a kid singing

:06:42. > :06:45.it in the crowds growing up with my family. Now being on the back end of

:06:46. > :06:49.that, being a player out there and when you wear that and see the old

:06:50. > :06:54.faithful doing it, it's a special feeling. That final last year, what

:06:55. > :07:00.did it mean to be part of that historic side? Everything to me

:07:01. > :07:06.personally. Obviously signing with my home town team coming back home

:07:07. > :07:10.and the main goal as much as people was to get rid of that song... It

:07:11. > :07:14.was old faithful you will never win at Wembley was the old version. It

:07:15. > :07:17.was all about, let's get that out of the way. The main goal, let's win

:07:18. > :07:20.the Challenge Cup and to have a chance to have done that and go

:07:21. > :07:25.there and be part of the first team to win at Wembley and obviously the

:07:26. > :07:29.people up there, that hit me the most. People who have left me when

:07:30. > :07:33.you would have loved to have been there on the day. Obviously having

:07:34. > :07:37.them looking down and knowing your family and mum, dad, everyone there

:07:38. > :07:40.and what it meant to them personally because they've supported all these

:07:41. > :07:46.years and to be out there playing a part of that team and to see them

:07:47. > :07:50.after the game and their reaction, just full of emotions, everything.

:07:51. > :07:55.It's definitely helped my career so far. -- highlight of my career.

:07:56. > :08:01.Leeds they've done a number on you a couple of times. They've the X sign

:08:02. > :08:05.on you. They do, they're a top team. They're a great team. If you don't

:08:06. > :08:10.play well against them they're going to beat you. They've too much talent

:08:11. > :08:16.in their team. We are confident we know what we can do and it was good

:08:17. > :08:19.playing them a couple of weeks ago narrowly getting beaten but I think

:08:20. > :08:25.we completed about 50% that day with the ball. Our defence has been

:08:26. > :08:28.brilliant. We need to make sure we look after that ball, we can put

:08:29. > :08:39.them under pressure and hopefully come out the back end of the game.

:08:40. > :08:44.Have you got a tattoo for every trophy you have won? I am big but

:08:45. > :08:51.not quite that big! Scott Taylor is a great - I got to work with him in

:08:52. > :08:54.the England set-up, every side needs a player who can energise the lads,

:08:55. > :08:58.he is also exceptional on the field, as well. Powerful ball carrier and

:08:59. > :09:01.has great footwork, as well, makes him difficult to handle. Do you

:09:02. > :09:05.think he stepped up going back to Hull and his home town? You can see

:09:06. > :09:13.how much it means to him. I was fortunate to play for my home town,

:09:14. > :09:18.Leeds Rhinos, I think that came across there in his interview.

:09:19. > :09:24.Brian, Gareth Elis is back, why is he keen to Hull? He is their

:09:25. > :09:28.talisman, that element of experience that when things are not quite going

:09:29. > :09:33.right on the field, they look to the leader and that is Gareth Elis. He

:09:34. > :09:36.is a good player as well, he can carry the ball, can come back

:09:37. > :09:40.against the grain as we are seeing there. It's his inspiration on the

:09:41. > :09:45.field that will be required today. Just on the back of that, he is a

:09:46. > :09:49.top player. Great ball skills, really tough. Everything outside of

:09:50. > :09:53.that, the influence that he has on the younger players in the group,

:09:54. > :09:58.senior players, captain, those guys and the influence they have on

:09:59. > :10:01.younger players or even players midway through their career, they

:10:02. > :10:05.make you play better and keep you honest. He has been a fabulous

:10:06. > :10:10.player wherever he has gone. Is there a gamble he might not be fully

:10:11. > :10:15.fit or do you think you take the gamble because he is that important?

:10:16. > :10:18.For his presence in the dressing room and talisman players deliver

:10:19. > :10:21.their own individual performance but they expect great standards of

:10:22. > :10:25.everybody else and everybody else will rise to that occasion and still

:10:26. > :10:28.have the ability to get hold of the game in the scruff of the neck. He

:10:29. > :10:34.will be understanding how to win it because he has been involved in big

:10:35. > :10:40.games. The first 20, 30 minutes of this match are the key for Hull?

:10:41. > :10:43.Yeah, completion in any game, any club game, big games, you want to be

:10:44. > :10:49.completing earlier in the game and overall percentage of the game. It

:10:50. > :10:53.has to be good. Just keeping it simple, as well. Hull did that

:10:54. > :10:57.really well against Castleford. Got hold of the game in the first ten

:10:58. > :11:00.minutes. Front loaded energy and bent the line backwards as they're

:11:01. > :11:08.carrying the ball. It's something to look for at the start of the game.

:11:09. > :11:12.They're bending and buckling the defensive lines which means it has

:11:13. > :11:16.to retreat further. They're a running team here as we see. That's

:11:17. > :11:20.hard to handle and it requires a high energy level from the defence.

:11:21. > :11:24.It's really important, the old-fashioned possessions will be

:11:25. > :11:30.crucial for Hull today to be successful. I think the kicking game

:11:31. > :11:35.at the end of those sets, after contact. Defensive has to retreat.

:11:36. > :11:39.The finish are really precise. It's either back-to-back set or if it's

:11:40. > :11:43.not a back-to-back set the other team is playing the ball two to

:11:44. > :11:47.three metres out from the line. When forwards are bending that line, it

:11:48. > :11:52.gives you more room to play and you can do what you want. Again it's not

:11:53. > :11:57.complicated. If you are making moves after contact, the others are

:11:58. > :12:01.retreating, it's basic game planning and that set. But it zaps energy out

:12:02. > :12:14.of the defensive team. Brian, take us through the Hull team today.

:12:15. > :12:18.It's a formidable line-up. Local speedster Jamie Shaul in the back

:12:19. > :12:29.three. Anything can happen with that guy

:12:30. > :12:42.Kelly and kicking genius Marc Sneyd. No shortage of sides or utility on

:12:43. > :13:11.the bench for Hull. Is that a technical term, big

:13:12. > :13:15.boppers? Yeah, the coach goes, here comes the big boppers! Let's go and

:13:16. > :13:22.meet a few. Robbie is with the Hull team. What a day we have in store

:13:23. > :13:27.this afternoon. None more so for all these Hull FC fans. They seem to

:13:28. > :13:32.have the share here in the stadium. Thinking back to the kwufl, just

:13:33. > :13:37.over a month ago, one of the things I like about this Hull FC team is

:13:38. > :13:41.what they were able to do against Castleford. They strangled them in

:13:42. > :13:46.defence. We know they can score tries but one thing they took pride

:13:47. > :13:51.in that weekend because I was speaking to their coach, saying they

:13:52. > :13:59.took a lot of bride in strangling the defence of the Castleford

:14:00. > :14:04.Tigers. That will be left up to guys like this, Mark Minichiello, Liam

:14:05. > :14:08.Watts and Gareth Elis. Having a stretch here. I will see if I can

:14:09. > :14:11.have a quick word. Gareth, how important is it to make sure you get

:14:12. > :14:16.defence right today and stop the threat that is Leeds? Yeah, it's

:14:17. > :14:21.really big asset of our game we need to improve on. They're full of

:14:22. > :14:25.players that really challenge you in their offence and our defence. It's

:14:26. > :14:28.something we will have to be on with this afternoon. Is it a matter of

:14:29. > :14:33.being physical from the first minute? Yeah, that's part of our

:14:34. > :14:38.game. We are a big set of forwards and we have to take it to theirs.

:14:39. > :14:41.They play a lot. They play Rugby League to the highest level and we

:14:42. > :14:46.have to match them in every department. Thank you very much.

:14:47. > :14:50.Good luck. Damien Johnson has been talking to both of the coaches.

:14:51. > :14:54.Brian, this Challenge Cup semifinal has been your focus for a while. You

:14:55. > :14:57.rested a few players last time out. How ready are you for the big

:14:58. > :15:06.occasion? Yeah, very ready. Looking forward to it. It will be a big

:15:07. > :15:08.game. Semifinals are always nerve-racking 80 minutes' worth of

:15:09. > :15:12.just desire and passion and everything. So, we are ready for a

:15:13. > :15:18.big game. Gareth Elis is back, is he fully fit and how big a contribution

:15:19. > :15:22.are you expecting from him, even at the age of 36? He is huge for the

:15:23. > :15:27.rest of the people on the field, as well. He had a game in the reserves

:15:28. > :15:30.a couple of weeks ago and wore some bruises there and obviously started

:15:31. > :15:34.last week for us. This will be a step up in intensity for Gareth but

:15:35. > :15:39.it's a challenge he is looking forward to. What do Hull have to get

:15:40. > :15:44.right today they didn't get right in the two defeats to Leeds? We have to

:15:45. > :15:47.take our opportunities when they arise, we have to make sure we are

:15:48. > :15:51.clinical and that's semifinal football. They're usually cagey

:15:52. > :15:55.affairs, very nervous, from both sets of players. So, the team that

:15:56. > :15:58.takes opportunities usually come away with the spoils. You heard you

:15:59. > :16:02.got married this week, congratulations. A Wembley

:16:03. > :16:05.honeymoon? That will be nice. I was planning on going away at the end of

:16:06. > :16:09.the year, as well, I will take them both. You have spoken about the

:16:10. > :16:12.importance of the start. We saw Hull produce that against Castleford, why

:16:13. > :16:17.is it important in a Challenge Cup tie? Because you never really get a

:16:18. > :16:21.grip of it. Cup games in particular, but especially the semifinal,

:16:22. > :16:26.there's so much at stake, if you lose it, there is almost a fear of

:16:27. > :16:30.failure in most of the semifinals, and I don't think either team really

:16:31. > :16:34.gets a grip of the game. The history of semifinals, the momentum swings

:16:35. > :16:38.massively from team to team throughout most games, so if you

:16:39. > :16:47.knocked a few points and get hold of a game to start with it puts you in

:16:48. > :16:50.good stead. Years ago Leeds legends departed for pastures new and they

:16:51. > :16:55.sealed their exit from Leeds fittingly by doing the treble. In

:16:56. > :16:57.the last couple of weeks two more of the club's golden generation have

:16:58. > :16:59.announced they're leaving at the end of the season. What a legacy they

:17:00. > :17:19.leave behind. That zippy running style of his. And

:17:20. > :17:24.he is scampering away! Borrow got his moment of glory! It's a

:17:25. > :17:29.sensational try, there aren't many that can do that! Danny McGuire has

:17:30. > :17:36.done it. You will be seeing a lot of him in the next few years. It's a

:17:37. > :17:43.terrific try, thrilling from end to end.

:17:44. > :17:46.Danny McGuire with a sensational take and he will break away. What

:17:47. > :17:53.character and what pedigree and what a side.

:17:54. > :17:56.Danny McGuire will be wearing the player mic for us this afternoon.

:17:57. > :17:59.You know him so well, what's been special about him down the years?

:18:00. > :18:04.Danny has been a magnificent player, him and Rob are two of the modern

:18:05. > :18:08.greats of the game. Danny came on the scene as a try scorer, support

:18:09. > :18:11.player but has developed into a general and also a guy who can set

:18:12. > :18:16.up a lot of tries and create opportunities for people. He is a

:18:17. > :18:20.chap player. A chap off the field. We are fortunate to have -- a

:18:21. > :18:23.champion player. A champion off the field. We are looking forward to him

:18:24. > :18:27.bringing leadership skills. The thing that stance out for me and

:18:28. > :18:32.watching him score this try, is the amount of times he turns up at the

:18:33. > :18:36.right time and scores the try. Do you think he was a little

:18:37. > :18:38.underappreciated because he was playing alongside Kevin Sinfield are

:18:39. > :18:42.to many years to maybe the outside world? Maybe to the outside world

:18:43. > :18:46.but not amongst the dressing room. We fully preernted what a skilful

:18:47. > :18:52.player he was and how committed he was to the team, the same with Rob.

:18:53. > :18:56.They're two greats in my opinion. Rob has defied the critics

:18:57. > :19:05.throughout his career at 5'5", he has been magnificent. Just change

:19:06. > :19:08.his name to Wow Borrow. His desire and the size of the guy and his

:19:09. > :19:12.character, he changed literally changes every game. As a coach and

:19:13. > :19:17.opposition player when you are on the field the one thing you don't

:19:18. > :19:21.want to see is Rob Burrow because you go oh-oh, things are going to

:19:22. > :19:26.happen here. He truly is a great player of the modern era because of

:19:27. > :19:31.the things he has done and 500-odd games he has played. For any young

:19:32. > :19:36.kid who is told you are not big enough, not skilful enough, he is a

:19:37. > :19:40.perfect example of you can do it with perseverance and belief in

:19:41. > :19:47.yourself and played 500 games, a tough player, still has the speed

:19:48. > :19:54.off the mark. He is a genuine loss for Leeds today. He is small in

:19:55. > :20:00.stature but a giant in character and braveness. He is a good lad, as

:20:01. > :20:04.well. There he is talking to our colleagues on BBC Radio 5 Live down

:20:05. > :20:07.there. Is he somebody, sport is littered with people who will be

:20:08. > :20:11.told they can't because they're either too big or too small for the

:20:12. > :20:15.sport. He is a classic example of that, is that what made him the

:20:16. > :20:18.player he is? Having worked with him for ten years, Rob always reacted

:20:19. > :20:22.best to criticism and always felt he had a point to prove. I would say

:20:23. > :20:28.with Rob definitely that is the case. With a number of players who

:20:29. > :20:35.go on to succeed, that's what drives them, proving people wrong. Leeds

:20:36. > :20:43.have changed this year. Joel Moon has moved. What difference has it

:20:44. > :20:47.made to them. He is a great running. Any time they are inside the

:20:48. > :20:50.opposition's 20, they're thinking run the ball and certainly inside

:20:51. > :20:54.the opposition's ten. They're great runners of the ball, quick off the

:20:55. > :21:00.mark, they're elusive, both have great fans. They're a huge threat

:21:01. > :21:07.inside the opposition's 20. I think as well Joel Moon is the accidental

:21:08. > :21:15.hero. This is luck not judgment? I think so. He took his opportunity.

:21:16. > :21:19.His ability to score a try out of nothing gives Leeds that X Factor. I

:21:20. > :21:22.think perhaps they missed. I think he has been in the top three

:21:23. > :21:25.players. He should be up there for a nomination and may have a decisive

:21:26. > :21:28.factor, his ability to score a try today. Is he one of those players

:21:29. > :21:33.you don't quite know what he is going to do next and that makes him

:21:34. > :21:36.so difficult? If he sees an opportunity or gap he is going to

:21:37. > :21:41.run, that's his natural instinct because he is brilliant at running.

:21:42. > :21:48.He also has the skill set to be able to play and pass and that's the

:21:49. > :21:53.benefits of this Leeds team, they've a new dimension to their team

:21:54. > :21:56.because of him. The atmosphere is building, it's getting noisier. Take

:21:57. > :22:58.us through the Leeds team. Let's get their game plan and go

:22:59. > :23:02.back down to Robbie. We are talking about this Leeds

:23:03. > :23:09.Rhinos pack and the ability they've in the spine of the team with Danny

:23:10. > :23:16.McGuire's experience and Joel Moon's X Factor. Look at Matt Parcell, one

:23:17. > :23:21.of the smartest players in Super League. When he place the ball, gets

:23:22. > :23:25.the ball, picks it up, he keeps his head swivelling, looks at all the

:23:26. > :23:29.players and options to make sure he creates space for his players as he

:23:30. > :23:32.is getting ready for it now. We will get across and see if we can get to

:23:33. > :23:38.that man that we have been talking about.

:23:39. > :23:42.He has been a bit of a newbie too to the position of standoff for the

:23:43. > :23:46.Leeds Rhinos. I will see if I can have a quick word. How are

:23:47. > :23:50.preparations going? We have had a big week, focussed on a few things

:23:51. > :23:55.during the week, we have to start strong. They've talked about

:23:56. > :23:58.starting strong, how important is the forwards to have a platform so

:23:59. > :24:03.you can have space on the ball? Yeah, buddy, they've a big team.

:24:04. > :24:09.Play down in their half, turn them around. Give us time with the ball

:24:10. > :24:16.which will help us boys. All the best, good luck.

:24:17. > :24:23.What are the last moments like, it's filling up here, it's noisy, what is

:24:24. > :24:27.it like in the dressing room for the players? It's intense. You will have

:24:28. > :24:30.been planning this game for three or four weeks. You have the

:24:31. > :24:33.technicalities, now it's about the emotion and making sure everyone

:24:34. > :24:36.nails the game plan and gets it right. I used to love these moments

:24:37. > :24:40.before. This is what you get paid to do, play in a magnificent game and

:24:41. > :24:44.get a chance to get to Wembley. Is there a difference in the experience

:24:45. > :24:49.between the two, you younger players in a Leeds room who might not have

:24:50. > :24:52.experienced something like this? As a young guy playing in these big

:24:53. > :24:55.games, you are enthusiastic and want to get out there and show your

:24:56. > :25:01.skills. Everyone is excited when you are young, playing big games, the

:25:02. > :25:06.only way to get experience is by playing in big games. Hull probably

:25:07. > :25:10.have the jump on it there. Brian McDer not is sitting there quietly

:25:11. > :25:15.on his own, is the job down by now? He might offer the odd of wisdom to

:25:16. > :25:20.the odd player, they've been planning for a month. Both coaches

:25:21. > :25:24.have mentioned the start, hugely important today, the start for both

:25:25. > :25:28.teams. Leeds would like to be at 0-0 maybe after 20 minutes, I think they

:25:29. > :25:30.would see that as a plus. If either team goes behind it becomes

:25:31. > :25:35.stressful during the process of this game. Semifinals are about front

:25:36. > :25:38.loading your energy. Both coaches spoke about that, getting the energy

:25:39. > :25:41.at the front. Some of the interesting part for me is the

:25:42. > :25:45.technical story behind semifinals, you want to win because you want to

:25:46. > :25:56.get to Wembley. The human stories are going to this, Hull I believe

:25:57. > :26:02.won last year because they wanted to get the hoo-do of Wembley. It could

:26:03. > :26:06.be the difference between the two, I think. Hull obviously won last year,

:26:07. > :26:12.people say it's one thing to win but it's different to retain it, how

:26:13. > :26:15.much tougher is it? I can't speak from experience there,

:26:16. > :26:22.unfortunately, everyone wants to knock the best team off, the team

:26:23. > :26:25.who were there last year. This is their opportunity again.

:26:26. > :26:29.You have retained it, is it that much tougher? It is and it isn't.

:26:30. > :26:33.The other side would like to try and beat you, but you have that

:26:34. > :26:37.emotional attachment, that's your trophy, you are unbeaten in it the

:26:38. > :26:43.year before, why can't you go unbeaten again? Success breeds

:26:44. > :26:45.success. So this is it, the 2015-2016 Challenge Cup winners are

:26:46. > :27:17.up for a place at Wembley. Hull FC have made a name for

:27:18. > :27:23.themselves today. Let's join our commentary team,

:27:24. > :27:25.Brian is going up to join John Kear and Rugby League correspondent Dave

:27:26. > :27:31.Woods. There is a thing of beauty, the

:27:32. > :27:35.Challenge Cup. Playing for that, as you can see, since the 1896-1987

:27:36. > :27:40.season, what a tradition. What wonderful history.

:27:41. > :27:48.A new chapter to be written here today by one of these two sides.

:27:49. > :27:51.You can see Danny McGuire is looking flushed already. Under the bright

:27:52. > :27:59.lights, waiting to make his exit. Wonder what's going through his

:28:00. > :28:06.mind. Not many more of these in that shirt in big games. Hull FC are

:28:07. > :28:10.going out there, as well. Listen to that! Thunderous.

:28:11. > :28:15.APPLAUSE AND CHEERING The noise we have now, the noise we

:28:16. > :28:20.will have throughout and thunderous is the kind of game we are expecting

:28:21. > :28:25.as well. There are some big fellas out there.

:28:26. > :28:30.There will be some subtlies but it's the battle down the middle that will

:28:31. > :28:54.provide us with a pattern of the game.

:28:55. > :29:02.The early birds, the symbol of Hull FC, will be hearing Old Faithful

:29:03. > :29:03.belted out around this ground at some point, as well in the next

:29:04. > :29:24.couple of hours. Let's look at how they're lining up

:29:25. > :30:08.today. The referee today is Phil Bentham.

:30:09. > :30:16.Should he be required, Robert Hicks is watching the screen, as is the

:30:17. > :30:22.video referee, and the two running the line. Desire, passion and

:30:23. > :30:30.belief, but who has brought those qualities in the biggest quantities

:30:31. > :30:34.to this pedigree packed semifinal? We are under way. 80 minutes to

:30:35. > :30:43.decide who is going to Wembley. We might need more than that in what is

:30:44. > :30:47.likely to be a tight affair. Both sides, for the sake of nerves if

:30:48. > :30:52.nothing does, hope it is settled in the next 80 minutes or so.

:30:53. > :30:56.Immediately, Hull moving white and going left. Let's get the early

:30:57. > :31:02.thoughts from Brian Noble and John Kear. The prize is massive. This

:31:03. > :31:07.place is bouncing. Energy will be required to the 80 minutes to get

:31:08. > :31:12.there. Hull have laid down their interventions. The Rhinos have a

:31:13. > :31:19.tight defensive line. Straightaway, they have gone to the edges. Brian

:31:20. > :31:25.Noble. They have nailed the first set, Hull. They have looked in size

:31:26. > :31:26.it, in and out of the Leeds line. Some smart half-backs that will help

:31:27. > :31:39.them. Ashton Golding will run it back. He

:31:40. > :31:45.has put it down 20 metres from his own line. Cuthbertson is at only

:31:46. > :31:57.half. Briscoe, remember him as a five try here rove -- hero. A ripple

:31:58. > :32:00.of booing for him in the background. Moon out of dummy half, driven in by

:32:01. > :32:11.Singleton. Parcell has been a revelation.

:32:12. > :32:16.Cuthbertson working his package just inside hole's territory. But they

:32:17. > :32:25.are on the last tackle, taking through McGuire. Puts it high. It is

:32:26. > :32:31.a test. Taken safely, but a good chase, and Hull will start from

:32:32. > :32:37.there. Hull had to kick the ball well today. I was interested in the

:32:38. > :32:43.view of John Kear alongside me, where the prowess of both teams

:32:44. > :32:48.comes from. Marc Sneyd, his left foot, he will want to dominate field

:32:49. > :32:59.position. Joel Moon is well known for high kicks. Brilliant from Danny

:33:00. > :33:07.Houghton. Danny Houghton doesn't always run from dummy half. Sika

:33:08. > :33:11.Manu, last tackle to come. Griffin on the six. The bounce taken by

:33:12. > :33:20.Golding. Starting with a lot of energy. Leaves in contrast playing

:33:21. > :33:25.low risk, getting to the end of the set that way. Hull holding the

:33:26. > :33:32.left-hand side, testing the right side out. We are already seeing the

:33:33. > :33:34.price of the running game of this Hull team. Every player carrying the

:33:35. > :33:46.ball to the line. Parcell there. Talking to Scott Taylor earlier, he

:33:47. > :33:49.talked about the noise. It is louder than Wembley from his experience

:33:50. > :33:55.last year. It wasn't packed to the rafters like this year. It got

:33:56. > :33:59.caught in the sunshine as far as Talanoa is concerned. He allowed it

:34:00. > :34:05.to bounce, and got lucky. It is out of play. Hull straightaway putting

:34:06. > :34:12.it into the corners along the ground. Leeds towering the ball up

:34:13. > :34:24.into the air, jamming the defence as they receive it. Talanoa couldn't

:34:25. > :34:33.find the ball in the sunshine. REFEREE: Danny, right in! That's it.

:34:34. > :34:42.Out it comes. Hull looking to batter their way back inside the Leeds half

:34:43. > :34:50.again. A penalty. A penalty for Leeds. Throwing the leads play

:34:51. > :34:58.around. I have sympathy here. I think they have been hard done,

:34:59. > :35:02.genuinely. Two wingers, Finau and Talanoa, the big Islanders, coming

:35:03. > :35:07.into the middle of the field. They want to get the team going forward

:35:08. > :35:15.and play-the-ball quickly. What about the decision not to go for

:35:16. > :35:20.goal? Interesting. Interesting, shall we say? Talking about a try in

:35:21. > :35:25.the next few minutes, it will be the right decision.

:35:26. > :35:32.Parcell out of dummy half. Singleton goes back, Moon with his dancing

:35:33. > :35:33.feet. McGuire, inside off-load, moving again. Chicory back to

:35:34. > :35:42.Parcell. Not given any room to move all

:35:43. > :35:51.think. Now it is collected by Golding. Double punt. Ward will be

:35:52. > :35:58.held up just short. But only just short. Back to McGuire again. The

:35:59. > :36:06.referees says is it is played out. Another set of six for lEEDS. --

:36:07. > :36:17.Leeds. Hull defending desperately. Parcell

:36:18. > :36:21.drops it back again. Head down and going for it, Cuthbertson. Equally

:36:22. > :36:25.committed, the Hull defence. The ball came back after the tackle was

:36:26. > :36:36.called. The referee will say, stand up. Stand up and play it again.

:36:37. > :36:39.Still in danger here, Hull. Leeds utilising the off-load game,

:36:40. > :36:46.expanding on every occasion, testing the Hull defence. Music coming on to

:36:47. > :36:52.add drama, not sure what that is about. Trying to create space,

:36:53. > :36:58.picked up by Talanoa, who can run it clear! Moon and plenty others were

:36:59. > :37:05.back. Hull won't find the passage to safety they want for themselves.

:37:06. > :37:11.Leeds chose to run the ball, instead of taking two points, even when Hull

:37:12. > :37:14.are fresh, defending their own line magnificently, forcing the error,

:37:15. > :37:19.marshalling it to halfway. They will feel good about themselves at this

:37:20. > :37:23.moment in time. Definitely a psychological win the Hull. We talk

:37:24. > :37:27.about brilliant attacking play two separate sites. We have seen the

:37:28. > :37:31.other side, defence. When the opposition have the ball, you have

:37:32. > :37:40.to make extra effort into defence to get where you need to be. Putting it

:37:41. > :37:49.high, high, high in the air. Briscoe has lost it. Here come Hull,

:37:50. > :37:54.Minichiello finding a way over. But, but, but was there an obstruction on

:37:55. > :38:00.his way to the line? We are going to the video referee.

:38:01. > :38:05.REFEREE: Contact and is there an obstruction?

:38:06. > :38:14.Let's hear from the video referee. Possible obstruction, from a kick.

:38:15. > :38:19.We need to check they are onside. Houston is offside, we have to see

:38:20. > :38:23.that through. So they are wrong side. I need to check that first,

:38:24. > :38:34.please, to check what happens on the contest. And whether there is a

:38:35. > :38:38.potential obstruction. So, first of all, I need to check if there is a

:38:39. > :38:43.knock-on by Briscoe, and if there is contact on him. Both looking for the

:38:44. > :38:49.ball. Doesn't appear to be any contact there. And then the ball is

:38:50. > :38:54.lost by Briscoe. I would like to see that slow, please, to check if there

:38:55. > :39:05.is contact on Briscoe, and check if he is challenging for the ball. OK,

:39:06. > :39:09.so Tuimavave has his arms up. I can't see any contact off that

:39:10. > :39:12.replay. He is not a challenging for the ball in my opinion. So the call

:39:13. > :39:33.is no try. So, we can play on from here. If it

:39:34. > :39:36.isn't no try, it is a scrum to Hull. We need to look... If we can play it

:39:37. > :39:54.on from behind, and then check. Yeah, so we go on from here. Check

:39:55. > :40:00.what happens here. He runs behind his own man. There looks to be depth

:40:01. > :40:04.on that. What I would like to do, before that, can we go back and

:40:05. > :40:09.check, when he drops the ball, whether he is taken to the ground. I

:40:10. > :40:16.have to make sure he doesn't knock-on, and is entitled to catch

:40:17. > :40:22.the ball. So, it's before that. Yeah, it's before that, sorry.

:40:23. > :40:30.So, once he drops the ball, is there any contact on him, or does he just

:40:31. > :40:34.fall to the floor? He has tackled him there, and he hasn't got the

:40:35. > :40:39.ball. He had to be entitled to be in the play. We don't need to go on

:40:40. > :40:41.from there. The first offence is the knock-on, so it will be a scrum to

:40:42. > :41:00.Hull. Ten metres out, yes. COMMENTATOR: No try, knock-on. What

:41:01. > :41:08.do you make of that? I am confused. For me, that is a try every day of

:41:09. > :41:12.the week. Leeds defenders have come up with a poor read on Minichiello.

:41:13. > :41:17.He runs under the sticks, and they go flat out. That was their

:41:18. > :41:24.decision. It was very deep, but it did run round the back of the man.

:41:25. > :41:29.But the first offence was a knock-on, and it was a tackle before

:41:30. > :41:34.he hit the ground. I can tell you, Mr Briscoe will receive many more

:41:35. > :41:37.high kicks through the rest of the game. Hull five metres out. Howden

:41:38. > :41:57.goes left again, driven in by. Sneyd, this is Taylor. Scott Taylor,

:41:58. > :42:01.joining us before kick off, how important it was and emotional it

:42:02. > :42:06.was to win the cup last year as a hometown boy. Kelly goes right.

:42:07. > :42:12.An elbow touches the whitewash, taking him out of play. It is

:42:13. > :42:19.Leeds's turn to celebrate in defence. Defensively, we are not

:42:20. > :42:23.calling that today. Fantastic attacking play, well done, Leeds.

:42:24. > :42:27.Whoever will win to date, Brian, they have to learn this, because it

:42:28. > :42:32.looks as if both teams are absolutely desperate for success,

:42:33. > :42:37.and are really willing to work hard for each other, especially the most

:42:38. > :42:40.important area, defence. I still need someone should tell me why the

:42:41. > :42:46.try was chalked off. We will talk about it after the game we can sit

:42:47. > :42:52.down after the game and have a good chat... Here is Parcell out of dummy

:42:53. > :42:56.half. Watkins raging to the right-hand side, with a bit of space

:42:57. > :43:08.here for Briscoe. He rolls another ten yards or so. Parcell again. A

:43:09. > :43:13.hop and a skip, and a push by Ward. Goes to the halfway line.

:43:14. > :43:18.Cuthbertson loves and off-load, loves and off-load but Liam Watts

:43:19. > :43:24.and has got himself in the way to prevent him thinking in that manner.

:43:25. > :43:32.Jones-Buchanan on tackle five, so here comes the six. Where does it go

:43:33. > :43:36.you? Left to McGuire. Fonua underneath it, we know how good he

:43:37. > :43:41.is under a high ball in attack or defence. Solid hits but he hardly

:43:42. > :43:46.moves an inch. Not a bag tactic -- bad tactic. If he has two catch the

:43:47. > :43:50.ball with defenders around him, it takes is running game out of

:43:51. > :43:56.equation. That is part of the game plan, get your kick chased down

:43:57. > :44:06.there. The prowess in their side retrieving the ball and responding.

:44:07. > :44:08.Houghton, not a 40-20. It has not even made a distance, collected

:44:09. > :44:13.instead by Golding. Sneyd up there to make the tackle.

:44:14. > :44:30.The players allowed get on with it. Briscoe just to Parcell's right.

:44:31. > :44:34.Parcell trying to work himself through. He is a good hooker. He

:44:35. > :44:41.does keep you honest around that area. A bit of a fumble. Ward on

:44:42. > :44:53.again. McGuire up to the line, back to

:44:54. > :45:01.Moon. Moon again. It's all over the place. He is going backwards. He did

:45:02. > :45:07.well that time. He can embarrass you, but Fonua did a great job. The

:45:08. > :45:13.ball is not in play much at the moment. Shaul brings it back. You

:45:14. > :45:19.had to stop this guy taking a running play, because, my word, he

:45:20. > :45:27.is a big, big man. Four of them involved. Houghton off to the other

:45:28. > :45:36.big fella on the other wing, Talanoa. Another five yards gained.

:45:37. > :45:45.Sheer determination. Tuimavave picks it up from dummy half.

:45:46. > :45:52.Kelly's pass picks out Griffin. Griffin engages two defenders.

:45:53. > :45:57.Again, on the last. Again, it will be a kick. Again, it is Kelly. Going

:45:58. > :46:02.towards the middle, Sneyd puts it high. Briscoe is underneath it.

:46:03. > :46:11.Another test for Tommy. He hasn't got there. Back it goes, a kick from

:46:12. > :46:14.Sneyd. Zero tackle. Leeds get it from there. Another indication of

:46:15. > :46:20.where the high kicks are going for Hull FC. Tom Briscoe is having a

:46:21. > :46:26.busy afternoon. He has to get use of that feeling, the ball dangling.

:46:27. > :46:32.Leeds handled it well, and they handled the recovery well after the

:46:33. > :46:34.kick. They need decent field position coming out of their own

:46:35. > :46:42.half. He caught his foot in that last tackle. The pressure put him

:46:43. > :46:55.into that situation, Dave. Moon again. A little pitching wedge

:46:56. > :47:01.into the in-goal area. Back goes Shaul. Safely back to the ten again.

:47:02. > :47:06.There is no hiding place for anyone at the moment, no stoppages. There

:47:07. > :47:13.isn't. It is a high tempo game and a high-intensity game. Houghton up and

:47:14. > :47:20.away. Watts does well to take that. What about that pass from the big

:47:21. > :47:24.fella! A prop forward with handling skills like that, catching it and

:47:25. > :47:29.getting the pass away as well. You can tell it is a semifinal of a cup,

:47:30. > :47:40.he is not allowed to do that! A try talk of earlier. -- chalked off. A

:47:41. > :47:42.200 career appearance Phil Taylor today. Sneyd with a kick to the

:47:43. > :47:57.corner. Chased hard by Talanoa. They will be disappointed with that,

:47:58. > :48:03.Hull FC, because seven tackles might not sound much, but the zero tackle,

:48:04. > :48:09.my word, often, if you get a roll on, it can be costly. If you think

:48:10. > :48:12.this is breathless, you should have watched the wheelchair World Cup

:48:13. > :48:17.final last, France against England, France won it in the last few

:48:18. > :48:26.seconds. It is a terrific sport when you get into it. We will show it at

:48:27. > :48:33.half-time. Fascinating. Leeds are going at the right or the left

:48:34. > :48:41.channel. Peppering the edges. The pass bounces. Jones-Buchanan out to

:48:42. > :48:42.Ryan Hall. They are up in his face. 15 minutes played, where did they

:48:43. > :49:03.go? Cuthbertson in and out again. There is Kallum Watkins. This is

:49:04. > :49:08.McGuire again. All the time in the world to measure that kick.

:49:09. > :49:15.Underneath it is Fonua. He caught it in the in-goal area. Smart. He knew

:49:16. > :49:21.he had to get a foot back in there to give him the extra tackle. We

:49:22. > :49:26.will see what Hull can do with their extra tackle.

:49:27. > :49:34.You want to be fit to play this game, don't you. The tackle count so

:49:35. > :49:36.far, completion rate is pretty high. It is a high-quality game, isn't it,

:49:37. > :49:52.it really is. Sika Manu goes down ten inside the

:49:53. > :49:58.Leeds half. Joining in is Shaul, and a drop of the hip by Tuimavave. They

:49:59. > :50:02.made decent progress in this set, Hull. Sneyd again. Back the Liam

:50:03. > :50:06.Watts. 15 metres away. One tackle to go.

:50:07. > :50:19.Houghton to Snead. Kicking towards the corner again.

:50:20. > :50:26.The choir has got it, tackled instantly by Talanoa. Leaves start

:50:27. > :50:35.from there. They didn't quite find it there. Absolutely bang on, that

:50:36. > :50:38.is where they have got to kick. He had a pitching wedge instead of a

:50:39. > :50:49.sand wedge. He needed a bit more on it. Leeds looking latter role.

:50:50. > :50:55.Keinhorst has lost it. It is a straight loss according to the

:50:56. > :50:59.referee. Hull get the decision. A feed for The Black And Whites. I

:51:00. > :51:10.think he did lose it. Let's have a look. He has lost that. He has a

:51:11. > :51:14.responsibility, Keinhorst. They are not going to make it easy for you,

:51:15. > :51:20.especially in the Challenge Cup. This really is only the second

:51:21. > :51:22.stoppage after the only refereeing decision. My goodness, it has been

:51:23. > :51:37.herons Geron. A slight delay here because Ward has

:51:38. > :51:40.a busted nose, and the blood has gone on his shirt. The referee wants

:51:41. > :51:46.him off the field to have that cleaned up. I don't think anyone on

:51:47. > :51:57.the field is complaining about it. Take your time, Stephen. We are

:51:58. > :52:04.getting a breather here. REFEREE: Heads in! Hull have stuck

:52:05. > :52:10.all the good players -- big players on the one side. Let's see what

:52:11. > :52:20.happens if. In goes Watts. Lost it. Lost it. First play, loses the ball.

:52:21. > :52:24.He has explained it. REFEREE: It was similar to the one

:52:25. > :52:29.over there. A good explanation from Phil Bentham, what is good for the

:52:30. > :52:33.goose is good for the gander. As long as we keep that consistency all

:52:34. > :52:38.the way through. You can see the carry, they will not make it easy to

:52:39. > :52:47.retain the ball. Just losing it. Knock-on. You have a responsibly to

:52:48. > :52:55.do carry the ball when you go into traffic. One of the wise owls in the

:52:56. > :53:00.box before the game was suggesting, 20 minutes gone, if it is 0-0, Leeds

:53:01. > :53:06.will be happier. Do you think they are? I think so, yeah. They have

:53:07. > :53:09.taken away the Hull start. We have seen them this season with so many

:53:10. > :53:14.starts where teams had to play a lot of catch up. Leeds have enough

:53:15. > :53:23.talent in their team to score at any time. Parcell, and now taken on by

:53:24. > :53:28.Anthony Mullally. Is he the first interchange today of any site? I

:53:29. > :53:36.believe so. I believe it is for Brad Singleton.

:53:37. > :53:42.Jones-Buchanan puts the shoulder in, drives it in. Here comes the final

:53:43. > :53:53.tackle. The final play in this set. Again, a high one. The Noah, again,

:53:54. > :54:00.is underneath it, but so is Ryan Hall. He reckons he has got this

:54:01. > :54:05.down! Wow, if he did. He thinks he did. It is the video ref with the

:54:06. > :54:11.final decision. REFEREE: It is from a kick again. We

:54:12. > :54:18.need to check the on-site first, then onto the grounding if that is

:54:19. > :54:23.OK. Pause it on his foot. Mullally is in front, and nobody else.

:54:24. > :54:26.Mullally has two stay out of ten. And he is outside the tent. I need

:54:27. > :54:35.to see a close-up of the cat, please. -- of the ten. Into his

:54:36. > :54:45.hands. He catches the ball clean, brings it down. You need to see the

:54:46. > :54:49.ball as it goes down. Lose the animation, please. It looks a try

:54:50. > :54:55.from that angle. Can I see it from the other side, please? It is taken

:54:56. > :54:59.by Ryan Hall. Slow, please. Can we take that nice and slow from that

:55:00. > :55:09.angle, so we can see the ball go down. OK, down in his hand, that's a

:55:10. > :55:13.try. Confirming the live decision. COMMENTATOR: For the size and power

:55:14. > :55:16.Ryan Hall possesses, it is his balance that wins the day on that

:55:17. > :55:22.occasion. That is an absolutely to refix finish by a terrific finisher.

:55:23. > :55:29.It really was. Sometimes you have just got to make things happen. Hull

:55:30. > :55:35.took an intake of breath, because it looked an indifferent kick from Joel

:55:36. > :55:38.Moon. It looked safe for Fonua. He is printing, saying he is going to

:55:39. > :55:41.make something happen. "I Am going to take the ball and score the first

:55:42. > :55:53.try." A great try from Ryan Hall. Absolutely magnificent work there

:55:54. > :55:58.from Hull. They time everything to perfection. His run, he accelerated

:55:59. > :56:02.into it, allowing him to get over the top of Fonua and grounding the

:56:03. > :56:11.ball. The reason the crowd think what just watched this kick...

:56:12. > :56:17.Kallum Watkins, not necessarily a first choice kicker, but he has

:56:18. > :56:24.landed 19 so far this season, 20 make that. The crowd think it is an

:56:25. > :56:31.ordinary kick. Most of them are thinking, Fonua will clean this up

:56:32. > :56:36.easily. Here is the kick. There is one bloke on the field that says he

:56:37. > :56:40.will make something of the kick. Four Hull defenders, out jumping

:56:41. > :56:45.Fonua what with the run on him. Not only that, he has courted and

:56:46. > :56:55.slammed it down as well. Here he comes again. He is a man for a big

:56:56. > :56:56.occasion. That is why he is international class. He makes things

:56:57. > :57:07.happen. He scored a try in every game, by

:57:08. > :57:22.average, that he has played for England. Here is tablet. -- Ablett.

:57:23. > :57:34.Here comes Golding. A flash of lightning coming from the back. Gets

:57:35. > :57:44.another tester. Fonua has not got the last one out of his head yet. A

:57:45. > :57:49.simple catch. That will be a message sent out by Lee Radford. Make sure

:57:50. > :57:53.it is a big, contested area for Ryan Hall to get at the ball. That was a

:57:54. > :57:57.good set from Leeds from the kick-off to end up with an attacking

:57:58. > :58:01.kick. He has lost that. It has gone backwards. The touch judge gave that

:58:02. > :58:12.call to the referee. Griffin involved in that

:58:13. > :58:17.breathtaking Million Pound Game for Salford last year. A moment of magic

:58:18. > :58:18.from him. Salford featuring in the second semifinal tomorrow against

:58:19. > :58:38.Wigan. It will be good as well. Kelly, we have not seen too much of

:58:39. > :58:46.him so far. Stayed again. Again, Briscoe underneath the high ball. He

:58:47. > :58:57.has company. Back to one. Still, back to one. Tuimavave. I think

:58:58. > :59:02.Leeds need someone to help him out and hamper the Hull chase. Taylor to

:59:03. > :59:09.Ellis. Ellis followed determination and desire, but meets a like-minded

:59:10. > :59:16.Leeds defence. Out it comes to Kelly. Look at that gap! Look at

:59:17. > :59:24.that gap! It was like a conjuror's trick. They

:59:25. > :59:35.watched him go right. No one sensed he might:. And he gets underneath

:59:36. > :59:41.the trick. His X factor here is, he sees a gap on the inside, and he has

:59:42. > :59:45.so much speed and clever footwork, he can make the most of that. This

:59:46. > :59:51.is the initial error from Tom Briscoe. A challenge for the ball,

:59:52. > :59:56.getting nowhere near that. Leeds getting help on the kick. It takes

:59:57. > :00:04.it back to one. Here is Kelly. Mullally over chasing. Kelly sees

:00:05. > :00:08.that. Off his right foot and in on the inside. He overworked, and

:00:09. > :00:15.dropped out of the defensive line, they were not going to stop him.

:00:16. > :00:33.What a try. Should be all square again in a

:00:34. > :00:40.moment. Marc Sneyd with with the kick.

:00:41. > :00:47.It's been a good game. Really enjoyed this game so far. It's an

:00:48. > :01:01.outstanding occasion, really is. A bit of everything. And some lovely

:01:02. > :01:07.touches too. It's all square. 6-6. Absolutely nothing in this game at

:01:08. > :01:13.this point. Both forwards packs, a massive arm wrestle. Hull FC have a

:01:14. > :01:21.tendency to kick on from these points. One day someone's going to

:01:22. > :01:30.tackle him, aren't they! I hope so! Would be Twitter gold!

:01:31. > :01:39.One of the things I mentioned at the start, Hull need energy to perform

:01:40. > :01:46.at their best. The players they've got, emotional energy that they need

:01:47. > :01:50.and that score clearly helps you. I think this little bit of break in

:01:51. > :01:55.the score will recharge batteries on the Hull team. There is Elis,

:01:56. > :02:02.battling away. He had been out for three months until he returned last

:02:03. > :02:18.week from a sternum injury against Huddersfield.

:02:19. > :02:32.The chase is on again. It's more difficult than he was expecting!

:02:33. > :02:36.What a great chase there. A four-man chase that put pressure first of all

:02:37. > :02:46.on the kick-off and secondly, on the return. Two tackles, they've got

:02:47. > :02:51.nowhere. It's Ryan Hall's turn to try to bring it to relative safety.

:02:52. > :02:59.Leeds beyond the 10-metre mark. Look where Leeds are kicking from.

:03:00. > :03:14.Tackle 5 on the 20-metre line. They're going to run it. Sheer want

:03:15. > :03:21.wins. Want wins for Briscoe. Back inside again. He has support from

:03:22. > :03:24.McGuire. Oh, the pass! Not quite what he wanted it. Absolutely

:03:25. > :03:29.brilliant until that final moment. I am with you. Brilliant, brilliant.

:03:30. > :03:36.And then a bit of a brain explosion, it's hard to be too critical. Bear

:03:37. > :03:40.in mind he tells us it's the last play. No, we are going to pass the

:03:41. > :03:45.ball. Get into space and then you don't really want him to throw it

:03:46. > :03:50.into touch but he does. Absolutely marvellous. To finish the set there

:03:51. > :03:52.is better... It is, you have to credit the courage of Leeds. They

:03:53. > :03:57.were under pressure inside their own 20 and they opted to run it on the

:03:58. > :04:18.last tackle with a wide shift. Good physical effort. Did a good job

:04:19. > :04:22.Jimmy Keinhorst, the only marker. It's end-to-end this stuff. It's

:04:23. > :04:34.fabulous. It's held and five tackles gone.

:04:35. > :04:46.Here comes the last. Sneyd again. Guess where it's going? Towards

:04:47. > :04:58.Briscoe again. Knock-on, in the air. Wonder what's on the tip sheet. He

:04:59. > :05:04.has to execute it, as well. Poor old Tom Briscoe is under mighty

:05:05. > :05:10.pressure. It was a knock-on as rightly identified by the officials.

:05:11. > :05:25.12 to go in the first half. All-square. Garbutt is on the field.

:05:26. > :05:48.Mitch Garbutt. Jones-Buchanan keeps going and

:05:49. > :05:52.going. With all the same enthusiasm that he has always had. Here comes

:05:53. > :06:04.Moon again. It's knocked on. In his own goal

:06:05. > :06:09.area. What a result for Leeds that is. That is a result and a half. You

:06:10. > :06:15.can see the disappointment on his face. Let's it bounce thinking it

:06:16. > :06:22.may go dead in goal, it's near the post. Great result for Leeds, from

:06:23. > :06:25.nothing. Yes, you felt that the ball was hoofed down field, wanted

:06:26. > :06:35.territory and they've got an even better result, they've got the ball

:06:36. > :06:42.and some territory. Fascinating kicks from both teams.

:06:43. > :06:48.Leeds know they've a real platform here. A real platform to try and

:06:49. > :07:03.deliver. Garbutt takes it on again. Four

:07:04. > :07:08.tackles to go. Leeds are creeping closer. McGuire with a dummy.

:07:09. > :07:16.Clutched at by Ellis. Others there too. Including Green who is on off

:07:17. > :07:21.the bench. There is the position, two plays to go. They're right in

:07:22. > :07:28.the middle of the field. They can go either way. The last play, the last

:07:29. > :07:33.spin of the dice here, McGuire goes right again. Spins it out. Watkins

:07:34. > :07:42.comes in, grabs it. Three on the outside. Puts the kick in. Oh! Ryan

:07:43. > :07:50.Hall claims it. He is dancing with delight. Never mind claiming it! But

:07:51. > :07:57.they have to go upstairs again. He says try. What does the video

:07:58. > :08:03.referee have to say about this? Tackle five, live decision is try.

:08:04. > :08:11.Firstly from a kick so check the onside, please. Pause it on his

:08:12. > :08:16.foot. They are onside and then it's the grounding now. Checking whether

:08:17. > :08:23.he gets the ball down and whether it's in the field of play. Go slow.

:08:24. > :08:27.It's in his hand. It's difficult to tell off that as it's quite blurred.

:08:28. > :08:34.This one might give us more of an idea. It's in his hand, still in his

:08:35. > :08:39.hand. That could be down there. His foot is in the field of play. It's

:08:40. > :08:42.whether he loses the ball first. Looks like he is in the field of

:08:43. > :08:46.play, it's whether the ball is grounded. Nothing to show that his

:08:47. > :09:03.hand has come off that ball. Looks like that's his hand and could

:09:04. > :09:06.still be on the ball there. Have nothing to overturn on that. That

:09:07. > :09:11.looks like that's his hand on the ball. There is no evidence it's not.

:09:12. > :09:20.Can we see the angle from the other side to confirm it's in the field of

:09:21. > :09:26.play still. And the one from the opposite corner, please.

:09:27. > :09:29.That looks like he is grounded. I am give ago try. There are his white

:09:30. > :09:33.boots. His hand is in the way. I can't prove that the ball isn't in

:09:34. > :09:41.the field of play. The live decision is a try. It looks as though I have

:09:42. > :09:46.no evidence to overturn that try. It's going to be another moment for

:09:47. > :09:52.Ryan Hall's show reel. You will need a big box of popcorn to watch the

:09:53. > :09:56.whole of his showreel. But another smiling moment for the man of the

:09:57. > :10:01.moment. Well, sometimes teams are at their most dangerous when they make

:10:02. > :10:06.it up. Leeds Rhinos on that last play made it up. You thought Danny

:10:07. > :10:13.McGunfire had made a mistake initially. -- McGunfire. Then the

:10:14. > :10:18.ball to Watkins and the finish from Hall is sensational. Really system.

:10:19. > :10:28.Two kicked tries from Ryan Hall. Fantastic chase, fantastic skill in

:10:29. > :10:31.finishing them. He has ticked the desire box there, got there, my

:10:32. > :10:37.initial reaction was he lost the ball at the end, clearly not enough

:10:38. > :10:38.evidence to overturn the decision. What a wonderful finish from Ryan

:10:39. > :10:54.Hall. Kallum Watkins takes this job very,

:10:55. > :11:01.very seriously. And he delivers. He delivers! Two

:11:02. > :11:09.out of two. And Leeds back with a 6-point lead at 12-6. Fantastic.

:11:10. > :11:13.Watkins, you wouldn't... He is landing these goals perfectly well.

:11:14. > :11:16.Keeps really with in a Super League game at Salford previously but you

:11:17. > :11:20.wouldn't think it was a semifinal. He is just stroking them over

:11:21. > :11:31.without any problem whatsoever. Ryan Hall's writing his name all

:11:32. > :11:39.over this Cup semifinal at the moment. The red button forum is on

:11:40. > :11:46.after we finish here on BBC One and usual contact on social media. And

:11:47. > :11:55.tomorrow Wigan and Salford. That's going to be a story one way

:11:56. > :11:59.or the other. Albert Kelly, they've made him do plenty of work. There is

:12:00. > :12:04.a couple of things tactically Leeds are trying to do. They're trying to

:12:05. > :12:11.work Kelly over and Sneyd over to the other side of the field to make

:12:12. > :12:19.half-backs tight so they can't play with the prowes they both clearly

:12:20. > :12:24.have Just over seven minutes of the first half remaining.

:12:25. > :12:31.This is a crucial seven minutes, as well. The Rhinos get another score

:12:32. > :12:37.they'll go in with ten out of ten. But Hull FC come back and boy, have

:12:38. > :12:41.we got a good second half coming up. Penalty.

:12:42. > :12:46.That might help. Is that the first one? I was going to ask that. That's

:12:47. > :12:51.the first penalty, I could be wrong. One each I think it is. Second

:12:52. > :12:57.penalty. First one for Hull. First one in early part of the game and

:12:58. > :13:08.they tapped it, rather than take the two points. Good job we brought

:13:09. > :13:09.uncle John to keep us straight! I meant the first penalty for Hull!

:13:10. > :13:33.Good work. Now a push by Bowden. Ten metres

:13:34. > :13:38.away. Getting closer. Another great carry after contact. Has done that a

:13:39. > :13:44.couple of times now Josh Bowden. Kelly again.

:13:45. > :13:54.Sneyd. They're coming at numbers. Coming at angles! They're over the

:13:55. > :13:58.line in the shape of Carlos Tuimavave the Samoan international,

:13:59. > :14:04.sliding in. And Hull might be level again in just a few moments' time.

:14:05. > :14:13.Well, take a bow, Josh Bowden. He creates, attracts attention and

:14:14. > :14:16.attracts the extra defender to stop. It's what happens after the two long

:14:17. > :14:21.balls to first Kelly and Sneyd going up the line. Here is the penalty

:14:22. > :14:25.initially. That's for hanging on too long.

:14:26. > :14:30.Play the ball there. Here is the whopper from Houghton out of dummy

:14:31. > :14:36.half. Here is the next from Kelly to Sneyd. Sneyd straightens up because

:14:37. > :14:45.they've created the numbers. Tuimavave just has to catch this

:14:46. > :14:50.ball, he picks out Danny McGunfire. That's on the -- McGuire. And able

:14:51. > :14:56.to move the ball to create numbers op the fringe. Really good work by

:14:57. > :15:01.Sneyd, as well. Took the ball right to the line and made sure the line

:15:02. > :15:06.was on... It made that line from two even more important. A cracking tie.

:15:07. > :15:11.I am with you, I think you can put that down, but the assistant to go

:15:12. > :15:18.to Josh Bowden. He has been a real handful since he has come on the

:15:19. > :15:22.field. It's a good game this. A cracker.

:15:23. > :15:29.It's what the cup's all about, packed house, nice warm day. Two

:15:30. > :15:33.teams getting stuck into each other. I bet we have another definition of

:15:34. > :15:36.what the cup is all about before this weekend is up. You will, you

:15:37. > :15:52.will. Sneyd looking to level things. The rocking motion of his. Has he

:15:53. > :15:56.put it over? Yes, he has. The chant of Sneyd from the fans. 12-12. We

:15:57. > :16:08.are back where we started. All square again. This is quality. It's

:16:09. > :16:12.quality from Kelly and then Sneyd. It was interesting they got Shaul

:16:13. > :16:15.around the back, as well, which would also have caused problems.

:16:16. > :16:25.Absolutely. So four minutes of the half

:16:26. > :16:49.remaining. Shaul's joining in. Tuimavave

:16:50. > :16:53.dancing away again. It's a big three-quarter line. It's

:16:54. > :17:02.a physical three-quarter line. Kelly. Looking to work his magic and

:17:03. > :17:07.almost bouncing through. Griffin picks it up to have a go. Not quite

:17:08. > :17:11.had the stellar season he would have been hoping for this year, Josh

:17:12. > :17:15.Griffin since his move to Hull but there is still time. That's a good

:17:16. > :17:21.offload. A great offload because here comes

:17:22. > :17:29.Watkins. Out comes Sneyd again. They've got the numbers. Briscoe

:17:30. > :17:35.knocked it down. Had to do it. But the momentum really had shifted to

:17:36. > :17:39.Hull. There was speed in there, and it was outnumbered 2-1. If he

:17:40. > :17:43.couldn't wrap the man up, ball and all, he had to play the ball. It's a

:17:44. > :17:51.great offload from Shaul which created the space. It sucked

:17:52. > :18:00.defendanteders in. Then they shifted the ball. That's where Briscoe saves

:18:01. > :18:04.the day for the Rhinos. Head and feet for Hull. Only ten

:18:05. > :18:08.metres away. This could be a big moment in this match. This could be

:18:09. > :18:15.a very, very big set of six. Might not be but it could be oh, look at

:18:16. > :18:24.the step from Watts! Almost through. Five away. Hull turning the screw a

:18:25. > :18:31.little tighter again. Maguire with a desperate tackle. They were all at

:18:32. > :18:36.sea. They had to make that. Houghton looks to his right. It's Bowden

:18:37. > :18:42.again. To the ground this time. Houghton. They're within sight of

:18:43. > :18:48.that Leeds line. Houghton shuffles to his right, puts his head down.

:18:49. > :18:53.Two tackles in the set to go. Kelly in the middle. Kelly with a

:18:54. > :18:59.pass. Leeds are pushing on. Sneyd with a dummy. Was it a forward pass?

:19:00. > :19:03.No, it wasn't. Just short. Here comes the last play. Leeds are

:19:04. > :19:11.hanging on. Sneyd's kick is flat. I think it's a deflection. Kelly with

:19:12. > :19:18.a catch. An absolutely miraculous pass away that Chris Green pounces

:19:19. > :19:26.and scores. Unbelievable! Unbelievable! What a set of six that

:19:27. > :19:40.was. Absolutely outstanding Rugby League. It really was. Danny McGuire

:19:41. > :19:47.saved the day early in the set. Watch this. It's almost like a flat

:19:48. > :19:55.pass. Great work that was. Put it in the area where there is lots of

:19:56. > :20:02.numbers. What about the offload? My word. Takes your breath away. Really

:20:03. > :20:07.does. The skill there, low, pumped pass, great catch. Then offload

:20:08. > :20:16.there. The claim from Leeds is that was forward. The person in the best

:20:17. > :20:19.position is wearing red and he is called Phil Bentham and he has

:20:20. > :20:23.allowed it. Some complaints from behind the sticks. Plenty of

:20:24. > :20:30.complaints in the stands from the Leeds fans when they saw that try

:20:31. > :20:33.replayed on the big screen. Chris Green doesn't score many as those

:20:34. > :20:38.stats reveal but that's a big game. That's a huge one. What about the

:20:39. > :20:44.timing, as well? You couldn't have got it closer to the half-time.

:20:45. > :20:48.Absolutely outstanding. What a great first 40 minutes. It still is,

:20:49. > :20:55.whether Sneyd kicks this or not. You can put your mortgage on him kicking

:20:56. > :21:07.it. 18-12 should he do it. It's still anybody's game. So the last

:21:08. > :21:17.act of a thrilling first half will be Sneyd's kick for goal which gives

:21:18. > :21:22.his side a 6-point lead. 18-12, the half-time score. What a

:21:23. > :21:30.semifinal, what a Cup tie. Twice Leeds were in the lead. But couldn't

:21:31. > :21:34.quite hang on. Danny Houghton at the moment is down there speaking with

:21:35. > :21:39.Damien Johnson. What's your verdict on the first

:21:40. > :21:43.half, it's as tight as everyone predicted? It is. Thankfully we have

:21:44. > :21:47.come out top the last 15 minutes and hopefully can build on that into the

:21:48. > :21:51.second half. How big a psychological blow scoring before half-time?

:21:52. > :21:56.Hopefully it will be for us, I thought we grew into the game really

:21:57. > :22:06.well. We will regroup and kick on. Thanks, Danny. Well, what a half of

:22:07. > :22:11.Rugby League we have had. They've delivered on the day. It was a

:22:12. > :22:20.physical start to the game. They've both chanced their arm a little. The

:22:21. > :22:23.sign of the quality of the game is the tries indirectly or directly

:22:24. > :22:27.from kicked sets. Both sides should be applauded for what they've

:22:28. > :22:31.delivered in a high pressure game. Talk us through the first try. A

:22:32. > :22:38.brilliant one from Hall. It's a case of chasing lost causes. We were

:22:39. > :22:43.speaking earlier in the commentary about a great kick from Leeds into

:22:44. > :22:49.the corner and then Ryan Hall chasing it to the end. Gets over.

:22:50. > :22:53.Originally when the ball was kicked probably didn't think it was a great

:22:54. > :22:56.kick. But it's the effort from Hall. He is the only person who has chased

:22:57. > :23:00.it and he really believes he can get the ball. In the end the kick is

:23:01. > :23:03.probably too long but the effort to get there and then obviously the

:23:04. > :23:08.skill to catch it and get it down has got the try. But just effort,

:23:09. > :23:13.effort. It's a world-class finish, as well. Has the smallest of margins

:23:14. > :23:17.to get that ball down and he is a big bloke and to get that shows why

:23:18. > :23:23.he has been voted one of the world's best wingers. Why is he the man for

:23:24. > :23:28.these big occasions? I love him, he has a bit of an ego about him, and

:23:29. > :23:33.he is playing against a great player and will be thinking I want to get

:23:34. > :23:40.one over him, if he is my winger. He has done that so far. We go back and

:23:41. > :23:44.got it even, it's been a tough half for Tom Briscoe, they've gone for

:23:45. > :23:48.him. Hull have purposely targeted Tom. He is going to have to live

:23:49. > :23:53.with that. He could do with help from people around him and support

:23:54. > :23:56.there. But this is clearly from the strategy book. They're going to have

:23:57. > :23:58.to compete for everything. To be fair, of the four players they've

:23:59. > :24:03.put down there they've come up with a result three times. So it's a

:24:04. > :24:09.great strategy. I think it's great watching this try, just repeat,

:24:10. > :24:15.repeat, doing something and have the discipline to do it. The criticism

:24:16. > :24:20.at sides would be they don't have the discipline to stick to a game

:24:21. > :24:27.plan. It's that little chip into the corner. What about this from Kelly.

:24:28. > :24:35.I think they've switched off here. Any coach will tell you, I think all

:24:36. > :24:44.these guys who know they switched off, don't go sideways. Mullal

:24:45. > :24:49.yeshgs won't be impressed with what he has done there. Kelly is too

:24:50. > :24:56.smart and too quick. He is gone. It's opened up like the Red sap sea

:24:57. > :25:01.for him. All I will be thinking is get there he is going to run and he

:25:02. > :25:06.run and stepped on the inside. They would have spoke about it all week.

:25:07. > :25:11.Sure enough Kelly has run inside 10, 20. It's concentration. They had

:25:12. > :25:14.been quiet up to that point. As the game goes on you start to tire and

:25:15. > :25:20.you are not making right decisions and then you switch off for a moment

:25:21. > :25:26.and it's a try. Ryan Hall pops up again, chasing a lost cause it

:25:27. > :25:29.seemed here. Again this is the Leeds Rhinos we know. Danny is not sure

:25:30. > :25:33.what to do. Gets the ball to Watkins. You can see the guys

:25:34. > :25:36.pointing here. They want the kick. It's a case of timing the run and

:25:37. > :25:39.chasing it to the death. What a wonderful finish again. It's an

:25:40. > :25:43.absolutely world-class finish to chase that down and get the ball

:25:44. > :25:47.down like that. He has no right to get that try. Didn't have the right

:25:48. > :25:51.to get the first one if defenders do their job. But world-class. He had

:25:52. > :25:57.the desire. He had the effort. The speed. And the skill at the end to

:25:58. > :26:02.get that ball down. He knows that line is there. He is thinking I can

:26:03. > :26:09.get this down. It's a sign of the times, three of the tries are down

:26:10. > :26:15.to kicks, that's when you know defences are good. So the fourth

:26:16. > :26:19.try, we have a lot to get through. The fourth, was that they really did

:26:20. > :26:23.work the numbers, Hull? This is something we spoke about earlier in

:26:24. > :26:29.the game. Can a forward dent the line, keep progressing even though

:26:30. > :26:33.it looks like he should be stopped? Josh Bowden refuses to be stopped.

:26:34. > :26:39.Gives himself more space. Get closer to the line. That first pass is

:26:40. > :26:45.crucial. The width to Kelly, cuts out three defenders. It gets Watkins

:26:46. > :26:51.interested. He is at the post and Maguire is backing away. The first

:26:52. > :27:01.pass is crucial. I go back to what JP says about the Bowden carry. The

:27:02. > :27:06.width of the pass from that play then and enables Sneyd to go at the

:27:07. > :27:10.line. He had two options. Watkins was at the first, he was too tight

:27:11. > :27:14.on that defender. As well this kind of sums up Hull's half, they've

:27:15. > :27:18.looked more dangerous when they get to the Leeds 20 than Leeds have

:27:19. > :27:24.looked in the Hull 20. Hull look like they can go down there and

:27:25. > :27:31.score, score at will almost. Hull are more structured too. They've got

:27:32. > :27:35.examples when they've run on the last play and probably should have

:27:36. > :27:40.scored off that. Watkins sort of looked at the pass and it went over

:27:41. > :27:45.the side, it was unstructured but it was a great set. Hull got that final

:27:46. > :27:49.try, again bits of brilliance but was it a forward pass in the middle?

:27:50. > :27:54.You can debate whether it's a forward pass but it's wonderful

:27:55. > :27:59.skill from Albert Kelly to pass like that. If it is forward the referee

:28:00. > :28:04.has ruled on it now, you just need to get over on it, it's borderline

:28:05. > :28:08.in my opinion. The skill from Kelly, it's a magnificent play. They're the

:28:09. > :28:12.game breakers you want. We spoke about Moon and Kelly with the skill.

:28:13. > :28:16.There it is. That's just the natural ability that comes out in Albert

:28:17. > :28:22.Kelly. He is a real competitor. It's a natural skill he has. And he is,

:28:23. > :28:26.they talk about him at Hull as the X Factor. So they should. Couple of

:28:27. > :28:30.players there, that's the difference between Hull winning or in the

:28:31. > :28:34.winning or being ahead. You have to give credit to Chris Green, as well,

:28:35. > :28:38.that was down by his boot laces, Kelly has inflicted himself twice on

:28:39. > :28:41.the game. The Sneyd kick I think took a deflection which helped it.

:28:42. > :28:47.That element of luck was there, as well. It's unbelievable, sport and

:28:48. > :28:52.it's a game of inches, sometimes it comes off well and I think it was

:28:53. > :28:57.Danny McGuire who charged at the end. Another inch is probably

:28:58. > :29:01.knocked it down and kills the play. It works out as a try. It's

:29:02. > :29:07.frustrating at times. We have had a fantastic half here and there is

:29:08. > :29:15.much more fantastic sport coming up on the BBC this weekend.

:29:16. > :29:24.There is a special programme today on BBC Two.

:29:25. > :29:25.Following that live coverage from the World Swimming Championships in

:29:26. > :29:35.Budapest. We will be back tomorrow with that

:29:36. > :29:39.second semifinal with Wigan and Salford.

:29:40. > :30:07.Also tomorrow it's five years since this.

:30:08. > :30:15.Down on the pitch, one of our heroes has been given a special

:30:16. > :30:20.presentation. Dave Parker has been with the BBC since 1965, when as a

:30:21. > :30:26.young man, he was brought in to work behind the scenes. Eventually, he

:30:27. > :30:32.moved to the commentary box, to pitch side, and he has been a great

:30:33. > :30:37.help to all of us down the years. We heard Dave talking in commentary

:30:38. > :30:43.about the wheelchair rugby league World Cup. It was an incredible

:30:44. > :30:48.final. Poor old England lost out to France in the final moments. They

:30:49. > :30:52.had a fantastic tournament, though. Well beaten by France earlier in the

:30:53. > :30:58.tournament. They did fantastically well, tea and in -- teeing us up

:30:59. > :31:03.nicely for the World Cup. England are looking forward to the World

:31:04. > :31:07.Cup, and it will be great for the sport. I think Australia will nail

:31:08. > :31:11.the best World Cup we have seen in that sport as well. What will be

:31:12. > :31:17.going on in the dressing rooms at the moment? Who will be the happier

:31:18. > :31:22.of the two? I think Hull. The finish to the first half was sensational to

:31:23. > :31:26.get those two scores. Previously, 12-6 down. Both teams will have

:31:27. > :31:31.confidence. Leeds will want to go back to the start of the game, when

:31:32. > :31:38.they moved it around, getting Sneyd, getting behind Fonua. I think they

:31:39. > :31:42.have had more ball, Leyds, which has helped. Hull are the type of team

:31:43. > :31:53.that need the ball to have the energy to play. From my own previous

:31:54. > :32:01.experience in semifinals. Off-load 's favour Leeds. Because the energy

:32:02. > :32:06.is less in defence, not many defenders will swarm around. I would

:32:07. > :32:12.like Leeds to stick to the tactics, attacking the half-backs on the 20s.

:32:13. > :32:13.Let's listen to Danny McGuire, who has been wearing the player mic in

:32:14. > :32:40.that first half. Listen, listen, we're going well

:32:41. > :32:48.here. We are in a good position. Forward, I need you here.

:32:49. > :32:54.He is going to need to have a big half, because as you guys were

:32:55. > :33:02.talking about, they haven't threatened. The off-loads is a huge

:33:03. > :33:09.strength for Leeds's game. This half, you want to start well. It is

:33:10. > :33:13.a blow, the try before half-time. You need momentum, we need

:33:14. > :33:18.play-the-balls, and we need to build pressure. We had to let you get back

:33:19. > :33:21.to the commentary box. We are keeping you fit, getting our money

:33:22. > :33:25.'s worth from you. Back to the commentary team of John Kear, Brian

:33:26. > :33:31.Noble is leaving the studio, and Dave Woods.

:33:32. > :33:37.COMMENTATOR: Out they come for the second half. Two tries from Ryan

:33:38. > :33:45.Hall in the first half, putting Leeds ahead. The exemplary skills of

:33:46. > :33:53.Kelly at the heartbeat of what Hull have done. Leeds breaking a record

:33:54. > :34:00.today, a 47th Challenge Cup semifinal. It will be a short lived

:34:01. > :34:05.record, because Wigan will equal that tomorrow when they play against

:34:06. > :34:15.Salford. It will be their 47th Challenge Cup semifinal. Leeds have

:34:16. > :34:16.won 35 semis, and lost 21. By comparison, Hull's 26 Challenge Cup

:34:17. > :34:29.semifinal. Phil Bentham is all smiles.

:34:30. > :34:33.Interesting to watch Marc Sneyd's body-line good at half-time, boots

:34:34. > :34:37.off, bouncing up and down on the left foot of his. It is causing

:34:38. > :34:46.concern. He got an injury early in the first half. He did. Either a

:34:47. > :34:51.calf or ankle injury. He must stay out if Hull are to be successful,

:34:52. > :34:57.really important to the Black And Whites. These two play each other in

:34:58. > :35:04.the super eights next week, don't they? The context of that might be

:35:05. > :35:14.defined by what happens in the next 40 minutes here. It is up for grabs.

:35:15. > :35:19.Again, holding that channel there, making Albert Kelly work. But they

:35:20. > :35:24.still came up with two pieces of genius, the Hull stand off half.

:35:25. > :35:30.Talking about genius, Brian Noble has returned to the commentary box

:35:31. > :35:35.clutching a box of lime flavoured chocolate eggs. Looking after the

:35:36. > :35:45.team, boys, making sure you are well nourished. Watch out a play by Jamie

:35:46. > :35:56.Shaul, who was confident it wasn't a 40-20. He will be really happy with

:35:57. > :36:00.that end of set, Leeds. Get up to the scrum, a set restart,

:36:01. > :36:08.frontloading the energy in the early tackles, attempting to restrict Hull

:36:09. > :36:13.FC. It is important that Mahe Fonua is there as first receiver. So

:36:14. > :36:19.expect a contest. Hard work to do here to get themselves out of this

:36:20. > :36:23.end of the field, here. Leeds will want to keep them there. For as deep

:36:24. > :36:40.and as long as possible. Halton taken in hard by Watts. And

:36:41. > :36:48.again to the left-hand side. Minichiello making a half-break.

:36:49. > :36:55.Sneyd teases as if he was going to kick. The pass is picked up, turning

:36:56. > :37:02.to something magic by Kelly. The pass a way, Griffin travelling well.

:37:03. > :37:07.Over everybody's head. Shaul can't gather it in. Opportunity missed for

:37:08. > :37:11.the moment, but it is still there. Shaul joint eight something out of

:37:12. > :37:25.nothing. Looking to the left, oh! Talanoa! Fetuli Talanoa! Did he need

:37:26. > :37:32.the long pass? No. It could have been a softer pass completely! What

:37:33. > :37:36.a passage of play. Albert Kelly, missing the X factor out there. They

:37:37. > :37:39.are calling for the kick on the inside, which is exactly what

:37:40. > :37:44.happens. Shaul gets the ball, seeming to be with the ball for

:37:45. > :37:49.eternity. Going across the field, picking out the gaps. He finds a

:37:50. > :37:55.gap, and it is just the next man. Oh! I am sure that is what coach Lee

:37:56. > :37:59.Radford and his assistant are saying, pick the next man out with a

:38:00. > :38:04.simple pass. We mentioned opportunities at the start of the

:38:05. > :38:11.game. You have to take your opportunities. What a fantastic

:38:12. > :38:16.passage of play it was, other than the end. It is like this game,

:38:17. > :38:25.Brian, it has everything. Everything. Parcell dashes out.

:38:26. > :38:31.Still just the six behind, it could have been a lot, lot worse.

:38:32. > :38:42.Parcell again, going right. Singleton going only one way. One

:38:43. > :38:45.straight, as hard as you can. Chipped back towards the middle, and

:38:46. > :39:03.an easy take for Shaul. 25 out from their own line here.

:39:04. > :39:08.That is what you want your big forwards in the middle channel to be

:39:09. > :39:17.doing. That was Minichiello showing up in the middle. He is not just an

:39:18. > :39:21.edge runner. Goes right, comes left, fooling them all. Back with

:39:22. > :39:29.Minichiello in this channel again. Gathered in.

:39:30. > :39:38.Here is green. Sneyd over the top to create space for Griffin to gallop.

:39:39. > :39:43.Bringing it back again. Fonda were we gathering his feet. Gets an

:39:44. > :39:51.incredible pass away again. Watts going centrally. Flicks it back,

:39:52. > :39:55.horrific skills. Minichiello dummies, straightens up and sets

:39:56. > :40:01.this platform for Hull. Two fantastic off-loads in there. Really

:40:02. > :40:10.were. Fonua, what a great position for Hull. Final play of the set,

:40:11. > :40:16.Sneyd with the set. Talanoa goes up. Two of army to catch, claim and

:40:17. > :40:23.finish! It is the way Hull do things, kick to the big fellas, soft

:40:24. > :40:26.handed, inside, Tuimavave finishes. Hull and a bit of daylight between

:40:27. > :40:33.them and Leeds. I love the composure from Marc Sneyd. I really do. He is

:40:34. > :40:38.carrying out his coach's instructions to the absolute letter.

:40:39. > :40:46.That's where it is so important, out there. He calmly stroked the ball to

:40:47. > :40:50.sit it on Briscoe's head. Talanoa gets the jump on him, because he was

:40:51. > :40:54.the man moving, the man that can time the ball, catching the ball at

:40:55. > :41:02.arms length. Inside, and a tremendous try from Tuimavave. What

:41:03. > :41:07.a great try. Either side at half-time, policy have been

:41:08. > :41:11.sensational. Two things will become Jamie Peacock mentioned off-load at

:41:12. > :41:18.half-time, talking about Leeds. Hull have come out with four or five

:41:19. > :41:22.classy off-loads, off-loads to progress them further down the

:41:23. > :41:31.field. Sneyd comes up with the precision kick. Full credit, Hull. I

:41:32. > :41:39.don't think we are too far away from the Hull mixed choir giving us a

:41:40. > :41:45.rendition of Old Faithful. Here we go.

:41:46. > :41:52.I will tell you what, these guys aren't going to let the cup go from

:41:53. > :41:55.their grasp easily. If anyone is going to take the Challenge Cup of

:41:56. > :42:06.this team of black and white players, they have two it, they

:42:07. > :42:10.really are. -- off this team of black and white players, they have

:42:11. > :42:24.all stop a 12 point lead. 24-12 is the lead for Hull.

:42:25. > :42:30.This is a real test now for the Rhinos, isn't it. It has all been

:42:31. > :42:34.about Hull FC for the five minutes before half-time. The five minutes

:42:35. > :42:39.or so after half-time, and the Rhinos will have two come up with

:42:40. > :42:43.some big plays. They had to shift the momentum somehow in the next

:42:44. > :42:48.five minutes or so. Let's go down to the touchline. No, we're not, not

:42:49. > :42:55.just yet. I thought we were, but not yet. It is a challenge for Leeds.

:42:56. > :43:02.Not being in the Hull 20 metres for quite a period now. They will start

:43:03. > :43:07.to wane a little bit, Leeds. I am confident they have the game to get

:43:08. > :43:11.over the black and white line. They have two stop Fonua and Minichiello.

:43:12. > :43:34.Minichiello with a step. Watts, he has looked great today,

:43:35. > :43:36.Liam Watts. Danny Houghton scuttles away from would-be first-time

:43:37. > :43:42.defenders, finding field position, 30 yards out from the Leeds line.

:43:43. > :43:46.Here's Kelly. Sneyd again, putting it over the top of Ryan Hall, but

:43:47. > :43:51.Ryan Hall is in position to get there. Golding to bring it out. Ryan

:43:52. > :43:57.Hall's shoulders hit hard, 12 from their own line.

:43:58. > :44:00.We saw Lee Radford in animated conversation with his team at

:44:01. > :44:04.half-time. The message was, it is the 1% things that make the

:44:05. > :44:07.difference, cut out the errors and we will get there. They have cut out

:44:08. > :44:19.the errors and they have a foot in the final.

:44:20. > :44:28.A little over energetic, which has lost Leeds ground. No touch from a

:44:29. > :44:33.Hull player, so it is to the last tackle. McGuire's chip and chase,

:44:34. > :44:37.and he has got it. A bit of magic from the maestro, and the kick for

:44:38. > :44:45.Briscoe to chase. Briscoe is after it. Just... Out of play. That would

:44:46. > :44:50.have been a real McGuire collectors item had it ended in a try. That is

:44:51. > :44:56.the type of thing that can change momentum there. That will have given

:44:57. > :44:59.the Rhinos real hope stopped a matter of inches there from Tom

:45:00. > :45:08.Briscoe. What an absolute classic bit of play. Chip kick, seeing

:45:09. > :45:14.Briscoe, feeling he has the pace. If the kick was a yard less hard, it's

:45:15. > :45:18.a try. What a great piece of play from McGuire. That may be a momentum

:45:19. > :45:27.change, let's see. The brilliance of McGuire enforced because of the

:45:28. > :45:31.defensive situation. Found an off-load, Danny McGuire saw the

:45:32. > :45:34.opportunity, the scrambling Hull defence, but couldn't find the

:45:35. > :45:43.quality of kick to give Briscoe a chance to put the ball down. Bodin

:45:44. > :45:53.muscles his way to the 40 metre am mark. -- 40 metre Mark.

:45:54. > :46:09.Once again to Sneyd, Sneyd to Tuimavave. Not much room in which to

:46:10. > :46:23.work. Sneyd into a cul-de-sac. Still a couple of plays to go in this set.

:46:24. > :46:27.Green straightening things up. Down by Brett Ferres. Last tackle.

:46:28. > :46:31.Baptist made, inevitably, up goes the kick, inevitably. Here comes the

:46:32. > :46:38.chase, but Golding has got it in space. That is what we mean by

:46:39. > :46:43.helping him out. Ash Golding said, I am going to help you out, I am

:46:44. > :46:49.helping my team-mate. I am going to search and claim the all. The mantra

:46:50. > :46:53.should be, we need more white shirts in the frame on the defensive

:46:54. > :46:58.effort. If you do that, even if you don't clean the kick up, you need

:46:59. > :47:03.troops to clean up the spoils. Get some white jumpers in the frame,

:47:04. > :47:08.Leeds. Danny McGuire getting a bandage around the head. The scars

:47:09. > :47:30.of the semifinal. There was some contact there, this

:47:31. > :47:37.time on the defensive side. Garbutt was mindful to try to produce the

:47:38. > :47:40.off-load. Keeping the ball tight to his chest was the better option.

:47:41. > :47:52.McGuire spins it left. Keinhorst dodging and weaving. It

:47:53. > :47:56.might be another set here. No, no touch. The referee has taken advice

:47:57. > :48:01.from the touch judge. It is still the second set. The last play here

:48:02. > :48:05.for Hull. McGuire spinning it high. Jamie Shaul is underneath this.

:48:06. > :48:09.Jamie Jones-Buchanan was there as well. The referee has decided that

:48:10. > :48:16.Jamie Jones-Buchanan was impeded. He has given a penalty. I think he

:48:17. > :48:29.loses this in-flight here, coming down. You might see J JB here.

:48:30. > :48:32.Nowhere near. It is a penalty by the letter of the local Jamie

:48:33. > :48:37.Jones-Buchanan bumps into him. I would agree with him. He didn't

:48:38. > :48:39.fancy that. If I was Danny McGuire, I would think, you will get more of

:48:40. > :48:48.that. Fauna were wanted get up and carry

:48:49. > :48:54.on, the referee said he was tackled and had to get up and play-the-ball.

:48:55. > :48:59.He has done well with his passing game, off-loading well, as well as

:49:00. > :49:12.carrying the ball. Sniping forward, Sneyd dances, and

:49:13. > :49:18.Minichiello tries to create what little space he has into something

:49:19. > :49:24.bigger. Leeds defenders were there. Getting close again now. Sneyd

:49:25. > :49:32.dummies. Tumbles but gets up again. Now it's Minichiello with a step!

:49:33. > :49:37.They are on him, on him in the nick of time. Here comes the last play.

:49:38. > :49:43.Sneyd again with the kick. Up goes Talanoa. In fact, he is claiming he

:49:44. > :49:52.was impeded. The referee says, yes, you were. Penalty for Hull. You

:49:53. > :49:59.can't do that. Did I say we can't do that? We did mention that. He just

:50:00. > :50:05.takes him out, he really does. That shows they have got inside his head,

:50:06. > :50:13.Hull have really got inside Tom Briscoe's head. This is a crucial

:50:14. > :50:20.two minutes for Leeds here. The goal line is set, if indeed Hull play on,

:50:21. > :50:25.or will they go on? I felt Leeds were hanging on. Fingertips in the

:50:26. > :50:27.last set. I think they will go for the killer punch here. And the six

:50:28. > :50:42.points. Danny Houghton taking his time. No

:50:43. > :50:47.rush. Slowing things down further with a punt out of play, giving them

:50:48. > :51:00.a restart ten yards in. Laying a platform, setting a

:51:01. > :51:07.position. Out in going left. Sneyd again. Tuimavave, on a hat-trick,

:51:08. > :51:12.having scored twice already. Driven in by Liam Watts. Quite the game he

:51:13. > :51:25.is having. Green coming from deep, twisting it

:51:26. > :51:32.and keeping alive. Bowden pushing them off, handing it in. Still only

:51:33. > :51:39.five, Leeds are teetering. Back to Sneyd for the one point. Marc Sneyd

:51:40. > :51:43.puts it over. Only a tiny point, but it could be a big, big moment,

:51:44. > :51:48.because that now is a threescore leader that Hull have in the game.

:51:49. > :51:54.Smart from Sneyd. It would have been a difficult attempt at two points.

:51:55. > :52:02.Almost cracking them open. But what he did ensure is that Marc Sneyd had

:52:03. > :52:08.enough time. Truly slotting it over the edge. It is, it is a big, big

:52:09. > :52:15.point, Dave, because it is a threescore game now for the Rhinos.

:52:16. > :52:22.No relaxation allowed. The coach is demanding to consistency right to

:52:23. > :52:31.the very end. Leeds have the pedigree to fight back. Have they

:52:32. > :52:34.got the will? A spirit crusher, that one pointer, or is it a spark for

:52:35. > :52:46.Leeds to find a way back into this me final? -- this semifinal.

:52:47. > :52:48.Dominating the second half, Hull FC. It has been brilliant. Certainly

:52:49. > :53:02.has. It will be the eighth year in a row

:53:03. > :53:05.that one of these two will be in the Challenge Cup final, but it has been

:53:06. > :53:11.Leeds that has dominated in the last few years. But Hull are the coming

:53:12. > :53:15.force, aren't they. Tuimavave's kick. How good is that? Rolls it out

:53:16. > :53:21.of play. Giving Leeds the ball back again, but in a difficult is it in.

:53:22. > :53:27.They are playing very, very smart, Hull FC. They really are. The ball

:53:28. > :53:32.went wide, bringing the Leeds winger up, dabbing it over the top, rolling

:53:33. > :53:36.it out of bounds. That is a kick of set finishing ten metres away from

:53:37. > :53:38.your line, Leeds. You have got to have a heck of a job to come to the

:53:39. > :53:49.other end of the field. They are loving life in Doncaster,

:53:50. > :53:55.Hull. Don't forget the red button after we finish it.

:53:56. > :54:05.That game tomorrow, that is going to be terrific as well. Salford haven't

:54:06. > :54:16.been to Wembley since 1969. A differential penalty for Hull.

:54:17. > :54:21.The hooker trying to actually get the ball... It wouldn't have

:54:22. > :54:27.happened in your day, would it, Brian?

:54:28. > :54:34.We are laughing because the kick out of play has just hit the doctor on

:54:35. > :54:37.the back of the head. There is a gentleman, a doctor, with a red

:54:38. > :54:40.T-shirt on, the ball hit him square on the back of the head. That is a

:54:41. > :54:48.head injury assessment for him. He is OK.

:54:49. > :55:01.Danny McGuire looking to try to engineer something for Leeds here.

:55:02. > :55:06.They need something quickly to get their spirits lifted. They have lost

:55:07. > :55:10.their way to Wembley at the moment. They need to find the path back

:55:11. > :55:14.again as soon as boss of. Driven in by Cuthbertson ten metres out. -- as

:55:15. > :55:23.soon as possible. McGuire's kick. Tom Briscoe trying

:55:24. > :55:29.to get on the end of it. Kallum Watkins gets the pass back. Ward,

:55:30. > :55:33.still five. Hull's defence are determined that ball should not be

:55:34. > :55:37.allowed to keep alive. That is an example of what we are talking about

:55:38. > :55:43.at the other end of the field. Five black jumpers. They don't clean the

:55:44. > :55:51.kick up. Leeds have an opportunity, but because of the numbers, they

:55:52. > :55:59.clean the play up. The second play, a stream of Hull defenders. It has

:56:00. > :56:03.been an outstanding performance by Hull the 57 minutes, but

:56:04. > :56:05.particularly for, five minute before this half-time, absolutely

:56:06. > :56:21.outstanding. He is a big man. He is a big man.

:56:22. > :56:25.Here is another big man, Griffin. Leeds looking at the numbers on the

:56:26. > :56:49.back, wondering if it is right. Last tackle. Sneyd again looking for

:56:50. > :56:53.touch this time. He has found it. Again, putting Leeds right back on

:56:54. > :56:56.the back foot. You can have the ball, Leeds, but you have a lot of

:56:57. > :57:02.hard work to make it really hurt us, that is Hull's mantra. He is a smart

:57:03. > :57:07.fella, he really is smart. He is looking after this game. He took the

:57:08. > :57:19.one point with three schools ahead, putting it in the corner. Clever,

:57:20. > :57:25.clever play from the scrum-half. Sometimes, at the top of the show,

:57:26. > :57:30.we emphasised the importance of your kicking game. Bully at handling and

:57:31. > :57:41.running game, rugby league, it has been a masterclass today. A lot of

:57:42. > :57:50.candidates, but Marc Sneyd had the kicks, the 40-20s. Absolutely

:57:51. > :57:56.instrumental in what Hull are doing here.

:57:57. > :58:04.Leeds will not want to be counted out just yet, though. One try set

:58:05. > :58:10.them alight again. McGuire's kick. Watkins follows up, the dummy,

:58:11. > :58:17.terrific! Absolutely terrific! They are alive again! Leeds are back, and

:58:18. > :58:25.Kallum Watkins, of the back of magic from acquire, puts them back in the

:58:26. > :58:29.com petition. Take your hats off to the Leeds Rhinos. They pinned them

:58:30. > :58:34.in the corner, Hull FC. You want to score, you had to go 90 metres. All

:58:35. > :58:39.right, that's what we'll do. We'll do exactly that. Watch this for a

:58:40. > :58:44.last tackle play. Spot it, Danny McGuire. Lovely weighted kick,

:58:45. > :58:49.picked up by Kallum Watkins. He didn't break stride. A show and go

:58:50. > :58:55.on Jamie Shaul, and over he goes. All of a sudden, Brian, game on.

:58:56. > :58:59.Absolutely, game on, off the back of Danny McGuire, for me. Two sublime

:59:00. > :59:08.kicks in the last ten minutes. A chip over the top to regather.

:59:09. > :59:22.Watkins puts it over, 25-18. Getting early point in the second

:59:23. > :59:28.half, the challenge for Hull is to play the game for the next 20

:59:29. > :59:33.minutes. Marc Sneyd's drop goal looked like a

:59:34. > :59:37.luxury item when it went over, but it is turning into one of the game's

:59:38. > :59:41.necessities now, because it is still a two score lead. Look at the skill

:59:42. > :59:50.of the kick on the skill of the pick-up. Without breaking stride,

:59:51. > :00:04.Kallum Watkins is some of that. I am not sure Hull can keep playing.

:00:05. > :00:08.Don't close shop up. Mentally, they might have gone. I'm confident they

:00:09. > :00:14.wouldn't. But Leeds, they aren't going to give up. They absolutely

:00:15. > :00:20.dominated possession, Hull FC. They made hay while the sun shone. Leeds

:00:21. > :00:47.Rhinos showing character in fighting back. Picked up by Ashton Golding.

:00:48. > :00:58.It feels like a gathering storm at the moment from the Rhinos. Here is

:00:59. > :01:09.McGuire. Keinhorst has gone behind his own

:01:10. > :01:23.man and given the obstruction penalty away. Here we see... Now,

:01:24. > :01:26.Houghton gets impeded. I think it was Ellis. They've both got the same

:01:27. > :01:49.haircut! Lacking follicles. Here comes Gareth Ellis again.

:01:50. > :01:54.Ex-Leeds player, of course before his adventure in Australia.

:01:55. > :02:29.Kelly picks it up. Houghton's quick ball out of dummy

:02:30. > :02:33.half. Griffin tries to straighten it. That's the 5th. Here comes the

:02:34. > :02:42.last from Hull. Wonder what's going to happen here. It's Kelly. Now it's

:02:43. > :02:47.Sneyd. That left foot, up goes Tuimavave. Now it's Shaul. With a

:02:48. > :02:53.grubber kick. Needs sorting out. Danny McGuire does. But can't keep

:02:54. > :02:59.his feet or his balance. Concedes the drop out underneath the sticks.

:03:00. > :03:09.Well played Jamie Shaul. He picked up the pieces this time. Leeds

:03:10. > :03:14.defend the kick. Shaul finds a nice little touch off his foot. McGuire,

:03:15. > :03:19.no option but to run the ball dead. I am with you, I think there is more

:03:20. > :03:27.black shirts in the frame than white shirts. Kelly's catch and Gareth

:03:28. > :03:35.Ellis is invited to run as hard as he can at that oncoming Leeds line.

:03:36. > :03:46.A few headaches and bruised ribs. This is Taylor.

:03:47. > :03:53.Griffin coming back on the inside. But held up. I think there is still

:03:54. > :03:57.three tackles to go. Plenty of time for Hull to create something...

:03:58. > :04:03.Driven away! And scored by Liam Watts!

:04:04. > :04:12.He has deserved that for his performance today. He absolutely

:04:13. > :04:16.has. And Hull maybe do have a foot in the final.

:04:17. > :04:29.Leeds had to find a way to respond again. What a performance, what a

:04:30. > :04:36.moment for Liam Watts. Kelly is going up the line. Trying to run

:04:37. > :04:40.Kelly down, they don't nail him and Watts, I think it's McGuire, is it

:04:41. > :04:59.Parcell that jumps out of the line? It's Brett Ferres. He was not going

:05:00. > :05:03.to be stopped. As soon as he saw those hips turning that's when he

:05:04. > :05:09.released the ball. I think they realise they better get the hotel

:05:10. > :05:17.sorted out. They'll be going down by the train. He will be getting a

:05:18. > :05:22.little train driver's hat on. Fabulous run from Watts. Kelly, you

:05:23. > :05:28.have to know when to release and he tempted the line and tempted Ferres

:05:29. > :05:35.out of the Leeds defensive line and that created the opportunity.

:05:36. > :05:45.Shouting out orders. Still a big kick here for Marc Sneyd. You would

:05:46. > :05:49.put money on him to put this over. If he misses it's still only, I say

:05:50. > :05:54.only, but it's a two-score game. If he puts it over Leeds would have to

:05:55. > :06:21.find a way over the try line three times. Do you want to bet? No!

:06:22. > :06:33.31-18. Leeds have to find a way of scoring three times. They're on

:06:34. > :06:38.course for Wembley at the moment. It was a lovely pass that. My word,

:06:39. > :06:45.came on to the ball, Watts. We spoke about how he carried the ball and

:06:46. > :06:59.it's been the tough times in yardage and offloading. Offside. Picked up

:07:00. > :07:03.in front, offside. Leeds player knocked it down. That's why the

:07:04. > :07:24.penalty has been given. If you are playing against Hull, you

:07:25. > :07:31.have to aim up. Ellis. You end up defending your own half all the

:07:32. > :07:40.time. Gareth Ellis is talking about going again next year. Taylor now.

:07:41. > :07:50.Wrestled, held up, put down. Houghton. Sneyd. Watts. Flips it

:07:51. > :07:58.back. Ellis. He gets it away. Houghton. Sneyd. Tuimavave. Three

:07:59. > :08:02.defenders coming across urgently. Did well, Watkins, there, helping

:08:03. > :08:10.Danny McGuire. Sneyd again. A little side through! Oh, it's been missed!

:08:11. > :08:19.No try. Kelly touches down but the ball had gone forward. That's

:08:20. > :08:24.another example of outstanding kick. If he is going to have a problem

:08:25. > :08:31.with his left ankle, calf or whatever, my word, what would he do

:08:32. > :08:41.if he was fully fit? He has had an absolute screamer of a game.

:08:42. > :08:52.The red button forum, don't forget that.

:08:53. > :09:07.The second semifinal is tomorrow. If this has whetted your appetite for

:09:08. > :09:23.more to come, we will be on air 2pm tomorrow. 11-and-a-half minutes for.

:09:24. > :09:32.They're barely inside the Hull half. McGuire has to try something

:09:33. > :09:37.different and special. What about that pass from Cuthbert son? Watkins

:09:38. > :09:46.searching to the middle and a kick. Who is chasing? Nobody with any

:09:47. > :09:52.great gutso. He has found a bit of open space here, Jamie Shaul. It's a

:09:53. > :09:55.great game of Rugby League this. It really is. A man in the ruck there.

:09:56. > :10:15.Oh, a penalty. Feezing that Leeds defence as he

:10:16. > :10:22.advances forward with a soft shoe shuffle.

:10:23. > :10:28.Taylor. Nothing soft about his approach. Here comes Sneyd again.

:10:29. > :10:41.Left foot kicks, out it goes. Again only ten metres from their own line.

:10:42. > :10:45.This confirms the fact... I even think the referee has controlled the

:10:46. > :10:51.game and hasn't been noticed by a lot of his decisions and another

:10:52. > :10:56.fantastic kick there from Sneyd. They're clearing away the empty box

:10:57. > :11:06.of those Jaffa Cakes, did you have one, John? I had a couple you could

:11:07. > :11:09.say. I didn't have any. Needs a miracle now, something miraculous.

:11:10. > :11:13.In the last ten minutes they've to score three times. They're starting

:11:14. > :11:17.this set, look where they are. They're up against a Hull side that

:11:18. > :11:22.believes, that utterly believes. Last year was all about getting rid

:11:23. > :11:25.of the hoodoo winning at Wembley for the first time. This year it's more

:11:26. > :11:34.about growing into being a champion side who can do it year after year

:11:35. > :11:39.after year. And they certainly look set for back-to-back Wembley finals.

:11:40. > :11:51.Parcell scampers off. Even defending well now, as well.

:11:52. > :11:55.They've really grown into this semifinal, the Hull FC side. Having

:11:56. > :12:01.to run it on the six here and try something. Watkins puts the kick in.

:12:02. > :12:11.Shaul steadies himself. Straightens up, here he comes! He is on his way.

:12:12. > :12:20.Jamie Shaul, it's a beautiful try. A beautiful moment! Taking Hull back

:12:21. > :12:25.to that beautiful place, Wembley, here they come! The black and whites

:12:26. > :12:30.know their way and they're on their way back again. Book the coaches,

:12:31. > :12:36.book the trains, book the hotels. The black and whites of Hull FC are

:12:37. > :12:44.going back to Wembley. They really are. Leeds had to try something,

:12:45. > :12:49.that's what Watkins did. Just saw the gap, Jamie Shaul, as soon as he

:12:50. > :12:54.hit the fresh air you could put your glass down, you could applaud him

:12:55. > :13:01.because you knew that's the play that guarantees Hull FC at Wembley.

:13:02. > :13:07.Here it is. Leeds got to chance their arm. Trying to find a kick.

:13:08. > :13:10.Shaul flings it up. Watkins falls. He sees the space, gone, good night,

:13:11. > :13:22.see you later. Put your books down, turn the lights out. You are not

:13:23. > :13:27.going to catch him. Great finish. It's been an outstanding performance

:13:28. > :13:31.from Hull FC don't think you can bad -- find a bad player amongst them,

:13:32. > :13:37.this kid certainly contributed, Jamie Shaul with a screamer of a

:13:38. > :13:45.75-yard try there. Plonks it down in the corner. Gives the ball to the

:13:46. > :13:52.black and white army to celebrate. It's been a great, great

:13:53. > :13:57.performance. Really has. All credit to Hull FC. They are defending this

:13:58. > :14:23.trophy with aplomb. They're winning at a canter in the

:14:24. > :14:35.final reckoning. Taken the game away from Leeds in the second half.

:14:36. > :14:39.Marc Sneyd has been kick perfect so far today with ball in hand or ball

:14:40. > :14:48.off tee. And that is a pattern that is not going to be broken. Six out

:14:49. > :14:56.of six. 37 points-18, Hull FC leading. They're on their way. They

:14:57. > :15:03.really are on their way. This is the icing on the cake. Breakaway there.

:15:04. > :15:07.He finds the chink in the Leeds Rhinos kick chase and enjoys the

:15:08. > :15:11.finish. To compound that they've gone from the kick-off and Danny

:15:12. > :15:21.McGuire has been one of Leeds' best players. He has put the ball out of

:15:22. > :15:26.play. It's a penalty for Hull FC. Again it will be put into touch and

:15:27. > :15:38.they'll start another set. Connor puts it out of play, which

:15:39. > :15:45.tells you that Albert Kelly has gone off. He has gone off injured, we are

:15:46. > :15:49.told. Not sure of the nature of the injury.

:15:50. > :16:02.He has had an ankle injury in recent times, so maybe it's something to do

:16:03. > :16:05.with that. Anyway, here is Jake Connor.

:16:06. > :16:17.Ten away from that Leeds line. Hull looking to plunge the dagger in

:16:18. > :16:27.once again here. Still have a Grand Final to play for, Leeds. As do

:16:28. > :16:35.Hull. And there is Scott Taylor! One of our own is what the fans love to

:16:36. > :16:46.chant about him. Over he goes. He is in to join some of his fellow Hull

:16:47. > :16:54.faithful. Scott Taylor, scoring the try, Hull through the 40-point

:16:55. > :17:00.barrier now. What do you call them, boppers?

:17:01. > :17:05.They've had plenty today. Once again got the field position from that.

:17:06. > :17:09.One big bopper, another big bopper in Taylor, does score. Just a simple

:17:10. > :17:15.pass play from Houghton. Clever deception. They're looking as if he

:17:16. > :17:20.is going around the back of the big fella. Up it pops. Hull's very own

:17:21. > :17:26.Scott Taylor, over he goes, joyously in front of that Hull FC crowd. What

:17:27. > :17:32.a day for the black and whites, what a day for that man. He grew up on

:17:33. > :17:35.the ter races as one of them, singing Fold Faithful, cheering on

:17:36. > :17:40.Hull players. Now he is in the middle with that big number 8 on his

:17:41. > :17:44.back. Entertaining those Old Faithful. He is a good player. He is

:17:45. > :17:48.an international player. He has been big for Hull for a long time now.

:17:49. > :17:54.Along with Watts and Houghton. They're the engine room, the people

:17:55. > :18:05.that are laying the platform for this super Hull team.

:18:06. > :18:17.Lessons might have been learned, if they are, boy, watch out. It's been

:18:18. > :18:26.some second half this. They are powering their way to victory here.

:18:27. > :18:32.Sneyd puts it over. Seven goals out of seven off the tee. A dropped goal

:18:33. > :18:47.to add to that, as well. It's party time on the terraces.

:18:48. > :18:52.Yeah, a packed house. The vast majority have been - wearing the

:18:53. > :19:00.black and white of Hull FC, they'll certainly have a very enjoyable

:19:01. > :19:06.Saturday evening, I am certain. 43-18.

:19:07. > :19:12.Discussion going on between John Kear and Brian as to who should be

:19:13. > :19:19.the Man of the Match. John, any decision yet? Yes, we have. The Man

:19:20. > :19:25.of the Match, many, many candidates, obviously I think Danny McGuire has

:19:26. > :19:32.had a great game for Leeds Rhinos and Hull FC side there's been

:19:33. > :19:35.Minichiello, Houghton, Kelly. For me the man who has controlled

:19:36. > :19:40.everything, his kicking game has been superb, he has kicked all the

:19:41. > :19:50.conversion, 100%, it's got to be Marc Sneyd. He has been sensational

:19:51. > :19:54.today. I can't think there has ever been a back-to-back trophy winner

:19:55. > :19:57.but Marc Sneyd has certainly put himself in contention of doing that

:19:58. > :20:02.this year at Wembley. Certainly his side are going to be playing at

:20:03. > :20:06.Wembley. We will find out who their opponents will be tomorrow, Wigan or

:20:07. > :20:39.Salford? Still an element her for Leeds,

:20:40. > :20:44.pride to play for. They've played the part, Leeds. But the second half

:20:45. > :20:49.has truly been all Hull FC, they've been fantastic. Hurts to lose a

:20:50. > :20:53.semifinal I am sure, hurts even more when the scoreline gets to what it

:20:54. > :20:57.is at the moment. Ryan Hall is after a semifinal hat trick. He is not

:20:58. > :21:16.going to get it. : Lee got married last week. A lot of

:21:17. > :21:20.his mates on the stag-do wore t-shirts with a reference to the

:21:21. > :21:24.fact that two years ago the Hull fans were bellowing for him to be

:21:25. > :21:28.sacked week after week and then he won them a Challenge Cup final and

:21:29. > :21:33.here he is again. A Challenge Cup final at Wembley and he has taken

:21:34. > :21:38.them back straightaway. It's a credit to the owner Adam Pearson who

:21:39. > :21:50.stayed faithful with Lee, who knew what he got and felt he could

:21:51. > :21:56.deliver and he has delivered. Just kicking that out of play. Oh, it's a

:21:57. > :22:03.penalty. Yeah, I think there was a touch of obstruction there. I think

:22:04. > :22:10.it's Marc Sneyd who has just got the Man of the Match award, and in

:22:11. > :22:16.retreat, I think just tugs on Parcell's jumper. Leeds going wide

:22:17. > :22:24.looking for a consolation at the end. Golding now. Great offload.

:22:25. > :22:32.Golding will find his way to the tryline. The referee is going to the

:22:33. > :22:38.big screen. Well, he thinks a try. I would agree. Don't think this will

:22:39. > :22:47.take too many looks. Here is the video referee. OK. So, he has got

:22:48. > :22:56.hold of the ball there. He reaches out. Reaches out, that's touched the

:22:57. > :23:01.line. It's touched the line. I need to see it please on the first

:23:02. > :23:06.occasion slow, please. It ends up short but I think it comes back.

:23:07. > :23:13.Yeah. Yeah. Looks like it's touching the line there. It's touched the

:23:14. > :23:24.line on the first occasion. I am OK with that. It's a try. This is going

:23:25. > :23:27.to be Ashton Golding's first try of of the season. Given the

:23:28. > :23:35.circumstances, it's not going to be one that he will celebrate, I

:23:36. > :23:39.shouldn't think. Two points added. 43-24 is the scoreline. Pure

:23:40. > :23:45.consolation for the Rhinos, but credit to Golden Jubilee. Golding

:23:46. > :23:54.has had a decent -- but credit to them. They've been outplayed in all

:23:55. > :23:59.honesty. They really have. They've contributed Leeds, but it's been a

:24:00. > :24:11.sensational performance from Hull FC. Really has. Not a bad player

:24:12. > :24:14.amongst the 17. There's been stellar performances within there, as well.

:24:15. > :24:22.The most impressive thing, everybody knows their role and I think they've

:24:23. > :24:27.played superbly as a team, as well. They're waiting for a kick. You

:24:28. > :24:30.would have thought in the circumstances Marc Sneyd would have

:24:31. > :24:35.just put the ball down and booted it. But ever the perfectionist,

:24:36. > :24:37.there is still 36 seconds to go! He waits for the tee to kick it

:24:38. > :24:53.properly. So here we go. Last 35 seconds of

:24:54. > :24:57.the game. Hull's party's already begun. What a performance,

:24:58. > :25:03.especially in this second half. Leeds will keep it, keep it moving

:25:04. > :25:07.to the last but it's put out of play there, Ryan Hall. I think that will

:25:08. > :25:10.be the moment to wave the white flag now. The scrum has been signalled by

:25:11. > :25:16.the referee. I don't think either set of forwards is going to get

:25:17. > :25:20.together here. They'll just let the clock tick down. Last year they got

:25:21. > :25:27.that hoodoo off their backs. Now they want to make it a habit winning

:25:28. > :25:32.at Wembley. They've a great chance. They're in the final. Wigan or

:25:33. > :25:37.Salford await. Those two go together tomorrow. That should be a belter,

:25:38. > :25:42.as well. Hull aren't concerned at the moment about who their opponents

:25:43. > :25:48.are, not just yet. They'll relish this moment. They'll relish this

:25:49. > :25:56.moment of victory. The two coaches together, former teammates at

:25:57. > :26:02.Bradford back in the day. A word of congratulations. From one to the

:26:03. > :26:07.other, commiserations from one to the other. We are going to be

:26:08. > :26:15.hearing from Lee rapid Ford right now. Let's go down to the pitchside.

:26:16. > :26:20.Congratulations, what does it feel like to be going to Wembley two

:26:21. > :26:23.years running? Yeah, special. It's obviously what we spoke about all

:26:24. > :26:28.season. Making sure we defend that trophy as hard as we possibly can

:26:29. > :26:36.and we did that today. I think a special mention has to go out to the

:26:37. > :26:39.conditioning staff and physio staff, Steve Michaels would have been a

:26:40. > :26:42.rush to play but to have that at this stage of the season is a real

:26:43. > :26:45.credit to how they've gone about their business. How did you manage

:26:46. > :26:52.to turn the crew in the second half? I thought we stifled them in the

:26:53. > :26:57.field position. We really fixed that up in that second period. It was a

:26:58. > :26:59.real credit to Sneyd's kicking game and our middles defended in

:27:00. > :27:03.particular. It's been quite a week, you got married a few days ago and

:27:04. > :27:10.now you are in the Challenge Cup final. I don't know which Saturday

:27:11. > :27:16.was best, this or last, I just told the missus! Some fantastic players.

:27:17. > :27:19.Marc Sneyd, the Challenge Cup Man of the Match, congratulations, you are

:27:20. > :27:24.holding the bubbly, how did you do it today? Sheer hard work, I think.

:27:25. > :27:28.The effort from everyone were outstanding for 80 minutes and we

:27:29. > :27:31.knew we had that performance and it were good. The value of the kicking

:27:32. > :27:35.game is so important in a game that's known for running and

:27:36. > :27:39.handling. Yeah, it is. I don't think people realise how important kicking

:27:40. > :27:44.is sometimes. But in games like this especially it makes a massive

:27:45. > :27:50.difference to the performance. The winning margin in the end, it was an

:27:51. > :27:55.arm wrestle early on. We knew what we were walking into. Leeds didn't

:27:56. > :27:58.fail to test us but obviously we stood up and done what's needed to

:27:59. > :28:03.be done. We are happy with ourselves. A real taste for Wembley,

:28:04. > :28:09.you got the trophy last year and going back again. Yeah, I am over

:28:10. > :28:12.the moon to get there again, it's something else, yeah, I am really

:28:13. > :28:18.happy with that. Thank you very much. Well done. Brian McDermott,

:28:19. > :28:26.the Leeds coach, why did Hull win today? They were very good. It was a

:28:27. > :28:31.good contest in the first half but I think I heard Lee said they stifled

:28:32. > :28:36.us in the second half and their game was outstanding. Kick tries and they

:28:37. > :28:38.had a numerical advantage which is in the insurmountable, you can get

:28:39. > :28:43.that back but the amount of field position we didn't have in the

:28:44. > :28:45.second half, they were good, I thought we were OK ourselves but

:28:46. > :28:50.they were really good. Appreciate your time, thanks, Brian.

:28:51. > :29:02.Incredible scenes with the Hull fans celebrating going back to Wembley

:29:03. > :29:06.again. Hull were good today. Both coaches have said that. The back 45

:29:07. > :29:11.minutes belonged to Hull. They executed a perfect game plan. The

:29:12. > :29:15.halves were outstanding. The backs were brilliant. They deserved the

:29:16. > :29:18.win. Leeds are no mugs and they didn't play poor, it just it was

:29:19. > :29:22.Hull's game plan and intensity didn't allow Leeds to get forward.

:29:23. > :29:30.Special moments these for the players. Yeah, for sure. It's a huge

:29:31. > :29:36.moment, Wembley two years in a row. The try before half-time was a

:29:37. > :29:46.killer and there was a try reasonably quick after half-time. It

:29:47. > :29:51.was all field position really. Leeds just beaten by the better team

:29:52. > :29:56.today? Yeah, sometimes too big, too strong were Hull today and the

:29:57. > :30:00.quality was too much for Leeds. Well, Hull are off to Wembley again

:30:01. > :30:08.for the second year in a row. Who are they going to face, I do hope

:30:09. > :30:13.you can join us tomorrow, we are on air from 2pm.
