:00:14. > :00:17.I do love a boot room. In here, you will find the very last piece of
:00:17. > :00:21.the Rugby League jigsaw, this the final major trophy of the domestic
:00:21. > :00:31.season. It is the Super League Grand Final trophy and fighting it
:00:31. > :01:01.
:01:01. > :01:08.out - Leeds Rhinos and Warrington This is home territory. It is like
:01:08. > :01:14.their own bedroom for the Leeds Rhinos' players. Jamie Peacock, the
:01:14. > :01:17.number 10 on his back, this is his tenth Grand Final.
:01:17. > :01:22.Danny McGuire is back. For Kevin Sinfield, he has never been in
:01:22. > :01:27.better form. He was man of the match in the semifinal.
:01:27. > :01:31.For Warrington Wolves, this is a first. It is their first Super
:01:31. > :01:34.League Grand Final. You have to go back to 1955 to find the last time
:01:35. > :01:38.that Warrington won the league. Another first - it is the first
:01:38. > :01:48.time the same two sides have contested the Super League Grand
:01:48. > :01:58.
:01:58. > :02:08.Final and the Challenge Cup final # Do you remember the first time?
:02:08. > :02:17.
:02:17. > :02:27.# I can't remember the worst time. Three wins in four years! It is
:02:27. > :02:31.
:02:31. > :02:34.such an impressive return for the Warrington Wolves.
:02:34. > :02:38.That's Kevin Sinfield going in. You could say the Super League trophy
:02:38. > :02:42.belongs to Leeds. They have been so successful. Warrington own the
:02:42. > :02:47.Challenge Cup at the moment. Let's look at where they qualified from
:02:47. > :02:54.in the Super League table. Warrington taking second spot
:02:54. > :02:58.behind Wigan. If they are successful at Old Trafford, they
:02:58. > :03:05.will be the first team since St Helens in win both trophies in the
:03:05. > :03:11.same season. For Leeds, it is the second time they have made the
:03:11. > :03:14.play-off finals. Their campaign has been punishing.
:03:14. > :03:17.Perfect conditions for rugby league. Great conditions here at Old
:03:17. > :03:24.Trafford for a bit of pre-match entertainment as well. This sport
:03:24. > :03:26.doing so much to make sure that families can come in and enjoy the
:03:26. > :03:32.whole evening. Brian Noble and Jonathan Davies have been involved
:03:32. > :03:38.in the sport for a long time. Let's talk about the two semifinals. I
:03:38. > :03:43.know you watched the Warrington v St Helens match? Yes, Warrington
:03:43. > :03:48.are very nervous when it comes to Super League play-offs. Losing to
:03:48. > :03:51.St Helens in the first play-off game was good for them. They looked
:03:51. > :04:00.relaxed and confident. In the second half, they just really
:04:00. > :04:03.turned up, picked the tempo up. Basically, they blew Saints away. I
:04:04. > :04:07.think it's been significant because Leeds have been nervous in the
:04:07. > :04:11.Challenge Cup final and Warrington in the Super League. Because that
:04:11. > :04:15.defeat, I think now Warrington are ready. With Warrington, Brian, it's
:04:15. > :04:21.been a case of pushing the one step further. They have been able to win
:04:21. > :04:26.the Challenge Cup final and they have not got through to the play-
:04:26. > :04:29.off final? That element of anxiety that Jonathan was talking about has
:04:29. > :04:33.disappeared. The challenge was to get there. I think they will be
:04:33. > :04:36.relaxed this afternoon. They will be flamboyant. They will be
:04:36. > :04:41.expansive. They will go for it. Whether that will get them over the
:04:41. > :04:46.line is another question. They are playing a champion team. Leeds -
:04:46. > :04:51.you have to have total admiration for Leeds. This year, going to
:04:51. > :04:56.Catalan and winning and Wigan and winning. Their mental toughness, it
:04:56. > :05:00.is incredible. The big match players really step up. I do feel
:05:00. > :05:06.that Warrington on the fringes may be have a little bit too much for
:05:06. > :05:11.them. Trent Waterhouse will be a problem for them. But, you know,
:05:11. > :05:15.you cannot write Leeds off in this competition. They know how to win.
:05:15. > :05:19.You know, it's going to be a classic. How significant is it for
:05:20. > :05:25.leeds to have Danny McGuire back? He is one of the old guard, if you
:05:25. > :05:31.like. Hymn, Rob Burrow, Kevin Sinfield and Jamie Peacock have
:05:31. > :05:33.carried this team for a number of years -- him, Rob Burrow, Kevin
:05:33. > :05:38.Sinfield and Jamie Peacock have carried this team for a number of
:05:38. > :05:42.years. They have gone to France, which is a huge game. At some stage,
:05:42. > :05:48.after you have played the French, it takes it out of you. Then they
:05:48. > :05:52.go to Wigan, and they are not expected to win. I think it might
:05:52. > :06:00.be an energy-level too far for them. They have the ability. It is as
:06:01. > :06:06.much about their younger kids, Hardaker, Watkins, Jones-Bishop on
:06:06. > :06:11.the wing. It is about how they play today. Their defence has to be
:06:12. > :06:16.better today because I know that they will attack on the fringes
:06:16. > :06:21.with Atkins. Hodgson will come in as the extra man and that will be
:06:21. > :06:25.the key to Leeds winning or losing. It is a packed house here at Old
:06:25. > :06:30.Trafford. They will both be roaring their teams on. Jonathan will head
:06:30. > :06:40.up to the commentary box and Brian will stay with me. Let's let you
:06:40. > :06:52.
:06:52. > :07:00.enjoy the Super League Grand Final. sides seeking one prize. Rugby
:07:00. > :07:05.league's title is up for grabs here tonight. They might be familiar
:07:05. > :07:09.foes when it comes to big finals, but they are unfamiliar footsteps
:07:09. > :07:16.that Warrington are taking this evening. A first Grand Final for
:07:16. > :07:21.them. Back on the old patch for Leeds. It's a Warrington 17 that
:07:21. > :07:31.includes Adrian Morley on the bench who played in the first-ever Grand
:07:31. > :07:36.Final - 14 years ago now. It is the same Warrington St Helens that beat
:07:36. > :07:45.-- it's the same Warrington 17 that beat St Helens last week in the
:07:45. > :07:55.semifinal. Jamie Peacock is appearing in his tenth Grand Final.
:07:55. > :07:57.
:07:57. > :08:01.Our referee is Richard Silverwood. It is, as ever, a spectacular feel
:08:01. > :08:11.around Old Trafford here tonight. The emotions are raw and they will
:08:11. > :08:28.
:08:28. > :08:36.get rawer as the night goes on, no a regular visitor to Old Trafford.
:08:36. > :08:41.The first Grand Final for Warrington. Leeds know their way
:08:41. > :08:46.around. Total admiration for Leeds when it comes to Super League play-
:08:46. > :08:49.offs. They know what to do. A tough role as we mentioned, away to
:08:50. > :08:53.Catalan, then Wigan. They deserve to be here once again. Expect
:08:53. > :08:58.nothing less than a tough opening few moments here. Both sets of
:08:58. > :09:08.packs looking to get on top. Jamie Peacock, the absolute veteran of
:09:08. > :09:16.this occasion. Just about holding on in the end. Delaney is the man
:09:16. > :09:22.to his feet. Hardaker has the ricochet and he has the luck here.
:09:22. > :09:28.Leeds get a second set. Unusual for Leeds. Usually see Kevin Sinfield
:09:28. > :09:34.in that position. Very lucky break for Leeds. It gives them a good
:09:34. > :09:44.attacking position. There have only been 15 finals and this is
:09:44. > :09:46.
:09:46. > :09:52.Peacock's tenth. Is an amazing stat. Warrington yet to put hands on ball
:09:52. > :09:56.with any real meaning. Leeds looking to launch this attack here.
:09:56. > :10:00.Tackles beginning to run out. Ablett is put down on the fifth.
:10:00. > :10:04.Here comes McGuire. Carries it in. Back to Sinfield. Puts the step on.
:10:04. > :10:08.Looks to get it away. Peacock has a look around. He is reminded by the
:10:08. > :10:14.referee it is the final tackle but there is nothing he can do about
:10:14. > :10:18.that. Yeah, he will be disappointed. That was the ricochet. They were
:10:19. > :10:28.lucky, Leeds, to get it. Very unusual, I thought Leeds would have
:10:29. > :10:31.
:10:31. > :10:41.put the Cross-kick in. What a season Chris Hill has had. A young
:10:41. > :10:41.
:10:41. > :10:45.man who really has impressed over the last 12 months. Michael
:10:46. > :10:48.Monaghan on the bench tonight for Warrington. There will be some
:10:49. > :10:53.swapping and changing in that position. This is good play. It
:10:53. > :11:03.might be their first meaningful possession. They are working it
:11:03. > :11:05.
:11:05. > :11:09.well here, Warrington. This will be the final chance in this set. A
:11:09. > :11:14.tester for the Leeds' right side. Ben Jones-Bishop has lost it. It is
:11:14. > :11:21.carried towards the line with real determination by Riley. He is going
:11:21. > :11:27.to be held up. The ball was played at, they lost the ball - watch.
:11:27. > :11:34.Kevin Sinfield plays on it. It is picked up by Riley. A lot of
:11:34. > :11:40.tackles. They love to start games quickly, do Warrington. A
:11:40. > :11:45.particular - here is Richard Myler with the opening try of the game!
:11:45. > :11:52.Warrington off to a flyer. Leeds had their chances at the other end.
:11:52. > :12:02.Myler has taken his. Warrington up and running. It's great. This is
:12:02. > :12:02.
:12:02. > :12:07.the mistake. Just watch - they are all watching the big runners. He
:12:07. > :12:17.takes it on himself. It is an easy run-in for Richard Myler. Great
:12:17. > :12:44.
:12:44. > :12:48.at Old Trafford. I dare to suggest it is noisier than ever this year.
:12:48. > :12:55.Leeds are great supporters. They are accustomed to being here. On
:12:55. > :13:03.the other side, Warrington, the first time in many, many years.
:13:03. > :13:07.It's a knock-on. It is a mistake. It is picked up by Ben Jones-Bishop.
:13:07. > :13:13.There was another knock-on in there as well. It will be Leeds' ball.
:13:13. > :13:19.That is an advantage. You have the ball. That is an advantage! Trent
:13:19. > :13:29.Waterhouse is the man who has knocked on. An unlikely customer.
:13:29. > :13:51.
:13:52. > :14:01.They trail to that Richard Myler treatment. Getting the arm free,
:14:02. > :14:11.
:14:11. > :14:20.Leeds. They still have a couple of tackles with which to play. Ablett
:14:20. > :14:28.- looking to isolate the man on the right. Good effort by Briers. Riley
:14:28. > :14:32.is in - it will be a tap-back on the 20. The referee says no. It's a
:14:32. > :14:35.drop-out underneath the sticks. I thought he caught that on the full.
:14:35. > :14:39.I think his elbow must have hit the ground - just watch. He jumped from
:14:39. > :14:49.the field of play, that's why. Have a look at this. He is in the field
:14:49. > :14:53.
:14:53. > :14:57.of play when he jumps. Yes. Up he goes. It's a good effort. He
:14:57. > :15:03.doesn't care where the kick is taken from the restart. He wants to
:15:03. > :15:10.kill that high kick. Warrington with work to do. Riley having
:15:10. > :15:20.defused the bomb, but having been held up behind his own line. Leeds
:15:20. > :15:52.
:15:52. > :16:02.have six tackles to hammer this Sinfield with the ball over the top,
:16:02. > :16:25.
:16:25. > :16:31.watch where the referee is. I tell you what, I have seen many trys
:16:31. > :16:38.given like that. Very, very unlucky, Leeds. The Leeds defence is coming
:16:38. > :16:48.up so quickly. That's what they've got to try to do, to try to force
:16:48. > :17:15.
:17:16. > :17:21.Briers. Good play, because what happened, the Leeds winger had
:17:21. > :17:30.dropped back for the kick, so the pass was on, and Lee Briers spotted
:17:30. > :17:40.it. You can see the pain written across his face, as he went down.
:17:40. > :17:55.
:17:55. > :18:05.think he should be OK. He is up, coach to bring two clubs to a Grand
:18:05. > :18:06.
:18:06. > :18:16.Final. He led Leeds here a few years back. Jones-Buchanan, good
:18:16. > :18:22.
:18:22. > :18:31.effort by him. Burrow up from dummy half again. Sinfield with the kick.
:18:31. > :18:34.It has been touched on to Ablett! He looks for support, and he has
:18:34. > :18:40.got it in the shape of Kevin Sinfield! The referee wants to have
:18:40. > :18:50.another look at this. Was there an offside? He is onside, that's the
:18:50. > :18:53.
:18:53. > :18:59.first thing. Definitely onside. He has not touched the ball, Ablett
:18:59. > :19:04.gets it. Great awareness, they must have been a call from this man,
:19:04. > :19:09.Kevin Sinfield, in the right place at the right time. Try. Well, he
:19:09. > :19:14.has been performing some heroics. They are having a look at the play-
:19:14. > :19:24.the-ball, a bit of a fumble, but that's OK, isn't it? That's fine.
:19:24. > :19:34.This should be a Leeds try. Ablett, looks for support, and here he is,
:19:34. > :19:35.
:19:35. > :19:42.the man who put the kick up, who's injured. Doesn't touch it, that's
:19:42. > :19:50.play on, for me. It has got to be a try. Phil Bentham, the video
:19:50. > :19:54.referee, confirms the try for Leeds for -- for Leeds and for Kevin
:19:54. > :19:59.Sinfield. Is this going to be another fairy-tale night for Kevin
:19:59. > :20:03.Sinfield? He loves these moments. It is my job, he will tell you,
:20:03. > :20:13.when you ask him about big kicks on big occasions. He generally does
:20:13. > :20:21.
:20:21. > :20:27.the job supremely well, as he has Warrington - Micky Higham has gone
:20:28. > :20:37.off, and Michael Monaghan has come on, and his first contribution is
:20:38. > :20:56.
:20:56. > :21:02.to knock on. Clearly not expecting Warrington defender put a bit of a
:21:02. > :21:11.knee into that tackle. What do you make of that? Well, I did not see
:21:11. > :21:19.anything. The referee said there was a knee. Absolutely nothing
:21:19. > :21:27.wrong with that. Kevin Sinfield, as ever, a picture of concentration.
:21:27. > :21:37.Another two points are added to the Leeds score, and for the first time,
:21:37. > :22:02.
:22:02. > :22:09.McGuire. He was in turn taken out performance, everybody working
:22:09. > :22:19.their socks off, and Kevin Sinfield just pulling the strings, live the
:22:19. > :22:25.
:22:25. > :22:30.ball, abandon thes, live the penalties. -- up and unders. That
:22:30. > :22:39.was a bit of a high tackle by my Cooper. Yes, not really intentional,
:22:39. > :22:49.just clumsy. In a game as tight as this, you cannot afford to give
:22:49. > :22:58.
:22:58. > :23:05.for Ablett, but Briers was there. They are definitely attacking
:23:05. > :23:13.Briers, making him make the tackles. Also, what it does is, when
:23:13. > :23:19.Warrington are attacking, hopefully, Lee Briers will be tired. It is a
:23:19. > :23:27.very decent position Leeds find themselves in here. Two tackles to
:23:27. > :23:34.go. McGuire, out to Ben Jones- Bishop, who has shrugged off two,
:23:34. > :23:38.and he goes over! Jones-Bishop scores from a seemingly impossible
:23:38. > :23:45.position! Somehow, he has found his way to the try line for the second
:23:45. > :23:55.time tonight. And there is trouble for Warrington now. They go across
:23:55. > :24:01.
:24:01. > :24:10.field again. That is a missed tackle by Riley. The defence was
:24:10. > :24:16.very marshalled, there was nothing on. That is a one on one. Once he
:24:16. > :24:26.comes in sight, nobody is stopping him. Sinfield puts it over yet
:24:26. > :24:41.
:24:41. > :24:44.cannot keep hold of it, so Warrington have the turnover.
:24:44. > :24:54.will be the first time they have had a good attacking position to
:24:54. > :24:56.
:24:56. > :25:02.start from. Just overran that one a bit, Ablett. Warrington, with a
:25:02. > :25:08.decent position to attack from. Ratchford taking them on, and the
:25:08. > :25:12.whistle blows. They were all offside. The referee has indicated
:25:12. > :25:19.that they cannot kick for goal, they have to take the tap penalty.
:25:19. > :25:29.I'm not sure they would have gone for goal anyway. Taken on by
:25:29. > :25:39.Waterhouse, thought about the offload, but decided against it. It
:25:39. > :25:39.
:25:39. > :25:49.comes back to Ratchford. That's the first time we have seen Hodgson.
:25:49. > :25:55.
:25:55. > :25:59.Here comes Cooper. Look how quick Kallum Watkins is up. The referee
:25:59. > :26:09.says there was a Leeds hand, so it is another set of six! Only 10
:26:09. > :26:09.
:26:09. > :26:17.metres away! Aquilani takes it forward. Leeds hanging on. The
:26:17. > :26:27.first real test. Briers with the pass over the top, what a pass from
:26:27. > :26:29.
:26:29. > :26:38.Lee Briers! It was a magnificent pass back, and he has floated it to
:26:38. > :26:46.Absolut perfection. And Warrington are back in the contest. That was
:26:46. > :26:51.the knock-on, leading to the second set of six. The ability and a
:26:51. > :26:59.vision of that man Lee Briers, throwing a magnificent pass. What a
:26:59. > :27:06.ball that is. Crucial time to score for Warrington. Power Hodgson
:27:06. > :27:16.strikes it well enough, and Warrington are back within two
:27:16. > :27:21.
:27:21. > :27:30.points. Kevin Sinfield drills it downfield. Adrian Morley, what a
:27:30. > :27:35.collision that was! This will be a penalty for Warrington. He gets up
:27:35. > :27:40.and gets on with it as if it was nothing. Astonishing. This is a big
:27:40. > :27:50.minute coming up, very big, the last minute, because Warrington
:27:50. > :28:08.
:28:08. > :28:17.will have one more opportunity of first half. It comes back to Myler.
:28:17. > :28:25.Cooper putting his foot down! He cannot go all the way. Briers with
:28:25. > :28:35.a little kick, and, oh, the referee has given a penalty. Kick it, you
:28:35. > :28:36.
:28:36. > :28:44.have got to kick it, take the two points. Great refereeing. It all
:28:44. > :28:54.came from this moment. What B-Team -- what an effort from Adrian
:28:54. > :28:57.
:28:57. > :29:01.Morley. And now, they have the chance to level things up. Terrific
:29:01. > :29:11.effort from Hodgson. It brings to an end what has been a fabulous
:29:11. > :29:28.
:29:28. > :29:34.first half. Bashing it forward Sinfield puts it high. Oh, he was
:29:34. > :29:39.caught late by Michael Monaghan. Meanwhile, at the other end, Joel
:29:39. > :29:49.Monaghan has caught it. But Kevin Sinfield has stayed down. It was a
:29:49. > :29:50.
:29:50. > :29:56.clash of heads. Did he lead with the head? Benefit of the doubt, I
:29:56. > :30:06.would say, that was accidental. sure Michael Monaghan will be as
:30:06. > :30:07.
:30:08. > :30:12.concerned as anybody else. Everybody will be happy to see that
:30:12. > :30:22.Kevin Sinfield is on his feet. Whether he is 100% after that,
:30:22. > :30:23.
:30:23. > :30:28.there must be some doubt. People have been saying we need to end the
:30:28. > :30:38.diving in football. Kevin Sinfield gets a full head butt in the face,
:30:38. > :30:43.and now he is up on his feet. was Myler, trying to exploit some
:30:43. > :30:53.hesitation in the Leeds defence. That was a crucial intervention by
:30:53. > :31:07.
:31:07. > :31:13.to do it the hardest way of all. Warrington having finished second,
:31:13. > :31:15.but miscueing in the first week against St Helens. A first-ever
:31:15. > :31:22.Grand Final for Warrington. They are learning quite what an
:31:22. > :31:32.experience it can be. Here is Hodgson. Great chase again. Leeds
:31:32. > :31:48.
:31:48. > :31:58.looking to pin Warrington back here the moment, having taken that hit
:31:58. > :32:00.
:32:00. > :32:10.to the jaw. He be all right. He is over it now. -- he'll be all right.
:32:10. > :32:19.
:32:19. > :32:29.picked up by Trent Waterhouse. No foul play the referee says. That is
:32:29. > :32:38.a great tackle. The intention is there to do it. Looked like Briers
:32:38. > :32:48.had been caught, but the referee says play on. Myler looked to trick
:32:48. > :32:52.
:32:52. > :32:56.his way through. Hodgson goes left and it will be - Ryan Atkins looks
:32:57. > :33:02.as though he was going to be carried out of play, but somehow he
:33:02. > :33:11.has scored an astonishing try. Crucial steal, just watch him. Goes
:33:11. > :33:18.in. That's a high tackle! Penalty. The try shouldn't have been allowed.
:33:18. > :33:24.Knocks it back. But this is the finish. Power. Goes over the two
:33:25. > :33:31.youngsters - try! The Warrington supporters are beginning to believe.
:33:31. > :33:40.That try has given them the lead again. Hodgson looking to add the
:33:40. > :33:50.two - he puts it wide and short. Warrington lead 18-14.
:33:50. > :33:50.
:33:50. > :34:34.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 44 seconds
:34:34. > :34:44.Paul Woods taking a well-earned do here. That's the high tackle on
:34:44. > :34:59.
:34:59. > :35:03.So a penalty here for Leeds. Another set for them to have a go.
:35:03. > :35:10.You would rather fancy them making a breakthrough in this set of six.
:35:10. > :35:18.Here comes Ablett. They go Ablett, Briers. That's what they do.
:35:18. > :35:25.Warrington hold out for one. Still five to go. He is fresh on, Kylie
:35:25. > :35:30.Leuluai. Four tackles to go. A short pass and Carl Ablett pushing
:35:30. > :35:39.his head between the defenders. The arms went with him. The try is
:35:39. > :35:49.scored! Leeds are back level again. It was coming. It was coming.
:35:49. > :35:50.
:35:50. > :35:54.we are. There's the high tackle earlier on. Again, the penalty.
:35:54. > :36:02.They kept their patience. They kept their composure. More importantly,
:36:02. > :36:12.they kept their game plan. Ablett, Briers, Ablett, Briers. Eventually,
:36:12. > :36:21.the big man just scores and Leeds are level once again. They keep on
:36:21. > :36:27.coming, keep on coming and they know - it is not the strongest part
:36:27. > :36:31.of Briers' game. Kevin Sinfield to give Leeds the lead again tonight.
:36:31. > :36:41.His kicking has been perfect so far and it remains that way. Leeds are
:36:41. > :37:00.
:37:00. > :37:05.back in front - 20-18. Again, honour at the Man of Steel Awards
:37:05. > :37:10.this week. He is a big rugby league fan. He claims this is the toughest
:37:10. > :37:20.sport of them all. I think what we are seeing tonight is the perfect
:37:20. > :37:26.
:37:26. > :37:30.example of why it deserves that Myler inside for Trent Waterhouse.
:37:30. > :37:33.Dropped by Hodgson. There was a touch by a Leeds player on the way
:37:33. > :37:38.through. It will be Warrington's head and feet. Or is it? The
:37:38. > :37:41.referee is referring this to the video referee.
:37:41. > :37:51.REFEREE: I think it's touched by Leeds.
:37:51. > :37:54.
:37:54. > :38:04.It is touched by Leeds. Did he play at it? Knock on. A big call that is.
:38:04. > :38:14.Delaney getting a touch. It's Warrington head and feed. Very
:38:14. > :38:22.
:38:22. > :38:32.Trying to make their presence felt inside their opponent's half here.
:38:32. > :38:41.
:38:41. > :38:46.another set of six. How big is this moment? Here comes Myler. Trent
:38:46. > :38:51.Waterhouse carries it in. He's knocked on. Oh! Trent Waterhouse
:38:51. > :39:01.knocks on and lets Leeds off the hook. Tony Smith, the Warrington
:39:01. > :39:02.
:39:03. > :39:09.coach, can hardly believe it. tackle from Kylie Leuluai. He has
:39:09. > :39:17.made an impact since coming on. there a hand in there? Yes, you
:39:17. > :39:22.have to try and control the ball. You have to make the tackle.
:39:22. > :39:30.another night, that might have been a penalty for Warrington. On this
:39:30. > :39:38.night, it's head and feed to Leeds. So many talking points from this
:39:38. > :39:43.game tonight. It's impossible to put the whole thing down to that
:39:43. > :39:53.one moment. It might come down to one moment, Dave. One mistake, or
:39:53. > :40:06.
:40:06. > :40:09.tonight. Now it is the six. Sinfield drills it down field.
:40:09. > :40:14.Makes Joel Monaghan turn and work and run and get there and then when
:40:14. > :40:20.he turns around, a big dropping of the heart in the knowledge he is
:40:20. > :40:30.going to get hit. He gets it away to Hodgson. Hodgson skips on
:40:30. > :41:05.
:41:05. > :41:15.it's been lost by Harrison. It's on. Leeds have an opportunity to take
:41:15. > :41:15.
:41:15. > :42:00.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 44 seconds
:42:00. > :42:04.Leeds fans believe that this is to possibly win it. Brian McDermott
:42:04. > :42:14.might a Grand Final-winning coach again. There's time for a comeback,
:42:14. > :42:16.
:42:16. > :42:20.but is there heart for a comeback after that try by Ryan Hall?
:42:20. > :42:26.can put this down to defensive effort of Leeds again. Again, it
:42:26. > :42:32.comes from a mistake. Harrison knocks the ball on. Just watch -
:42:32. > :42:37.they keep the ball alive. They go down the right and then it's on,
:42:37. > :42:43.they know - they are looking for Briers once again. The long, long
:42:43. > :42:50.pass, two on two, and I feel Monaghan is ball-watching. Just
:42:50. > :42:57.watch. He is ball-watching. Ryan Hall goes on the outside. Was he
:42:57. > :43:01.looking after Briers? He has to look after his own man. Kevin
:43:01. > :43:11.Sinfield with the kick that could nail it. A big, big kick. It will
:43:11. > :43:12.
:43:12. > :43:22.be an eight-point game if he puts this over. Why I ever pose the
:43:22. > :43:23.
:43:23. > :43:27.question if - of course he nails it! Leeds lead 26-18. It will be a
:43:27. > :43:30.big call now for Warrington, especially against this magnificent
:43:30. > :43:36.Leeds defence. Warrington have gone short. They have to take the risk
:43:36. > :43:44.now. That gamble has come off. They have it. Seven minutes left to play.
:43:44. > :43:53.They have to score twice here. Warrington have to find their way
:43:53. > :44:03.to that try line on two more occasions. Boy, is this going to be
:44:03. > :44:26.
:44:26. > :44:36.done, son." Six to go. They have to keep their composure. They have to
:44:36. > :44:52.
:44:52. > :44:57.how close they are. Monaghan throws it out. A touch from a Leeds hand,
:44:57. > :45:02.a knock on by Ryan Hall. It will be Warrington... Ratchford knocked it
:45:02. > :45:12.on first. You are right. Ratchford trying to push it on. Watch. He
:45:12. > :45:38.
:45:38. > :45:43.Hall reading the play exceptionally written about this Leeds side over
:45:43. > :45:52.the last couple of years. JONATHAN DAVIES: Magnificent, is
:45:52. > :45:55.one of those things. And their fans are in terrific voice now. They
:45:55. > :45:59.know how to serenade winners, though as Leeds supporters, because
:45:59. > :46:09.they have had plenty of chances to do it over the last few years. The
:46:09. > :46:31.
:46:31. > :46:38.signs are, it is going to be just when his side needed it the
:46:38. > :46:45.most. A big kick by a big player. What a moment that is. It is a
:46:45. > :46:51.fantastic kick. He takes it upon himself. Sinfield has done all of
:46:51. > :47:01.the big kicks all night, but that was brilliant. The fans are
:47:01. > :47:17.
:47:17. > :47:27.celebrating that as if it was a would not put it past them to score
:47:27. > :47:31.another one. Old Trafford echoes to the chant of Leeds Rhinos. If they
:47:31. > :47:41.do not scorer try, Sinfield will drop a goal, just to keep the
:47:41. > :47:43.
:47:43. > :47:53.scoreboard ticking over. Held up, five yards out. McGuire... Not this
:47:53. > :48:03.
:48:03. > :48:13.So, there is one more play. McGuire put the kick over the top. But it
:48:13. > :48:15.
:48:15. > :48:24.is not the best. Warrington can get on with it. But the Leeds defence
:48:24. > :48:34.is set. There are less than three minutes to go. He comes at King's.
:48:34. > :48:45.
:48:45. > :48:55.-- here comes Atkins. Warrington He could not keep it alive. Tony
:48:55. > :48:56.
:48:56. > :49:06.Smith pointing down field. Oh, there is nobody there! Hodgson
:49:06. > :49:16.looking for the pass outside, but it flies out of play. It is Leeds'
:49:16. > :49:21.
:49:21. > :49:27.confirmed as the man of the match. Head and shoulders above anyone
:49:27. > :49:31.else on the field. Kevin Sinfield has been absolutely magnificent.
:49:31. > :49:41.Not only in this game, but in all the play-off matches, he has been
:49:41. > :49:47.
:49:47. > :49:57.referee says forward pass. I think that Warrington know that the game
:49:57. > :49:59.
:49:59. > :50:03.is up. The defensive effort from Leeds has been amazing as well,
:50:03. > :50:10.restricting Warrington, cancelling out any threat out wide on either
:50:10. > :50:19.side. It has been great defence from Leeds. It is a wall of noise
:50:19. > :50:25.at the moment from the Leeds supporters. That will be the last
:50:26. > :50:32.act. Micky Higham has had his moments in a marvellous career, but
:50:32. > :50:38.this is not going to be one of them. It is going to be Leeds' night
:50:38. > :50:45.tonight. The clock has not stopped. They are going to let the time take
:50:45. > :50:55.on. Into the final 10 seconds... What a night, Jonathan Davies.
:50:55. > :50:55.
:50:55. > :51:04.Absolutely magnificent. Leeds Rhinos, what an end of season. For
:51:04. > :51:10.me, that is their best Grand Final result. Kevin Sinfield is the man
:51:10. > :51:14.who wins the man-of-the-match award. It is Leeds' year again. And what
:51:14. > :51:19.an impressive, magnificent performance they have put in
:51:19. > :51:25.tonight against a Warrington side that were hungry for it, make no
:51:25. > :51:35.mistake, but Kevin Sinfield has once again led by example. Leeds,
:51:35. > :51:41.
:51:42. > :51:47.It is another Grand Final victory for Leeds, and once again, we need
:51:47. > :51:51.to talk about Kevin. An extraordinary performer, at the
:51:51. > :51:56.heart of an extraordinary team. The Leeds Rhinos have just written
:51:56. > :52:00.another chapter of rugby league history. I can tell you this now,
:52:00. > :52:04.of all the sportsmen I have ever seen, this guy is the most
:52:04. > :52:10.impressive. They tried to knock you out, they tried to kick you, you
:52:10. > :52:15.got up and kept going, that was immense. It was a big team effort.
:52:15. > :52:20.Nobody would have thought it one month ago, where we were. We were
:52:20. > :52:24.absolutely battered on this field. To keep ourselves going, it is an
:52:24. > :52:29.incredible effort. You wanted to go over to thank the fans, and also
:52:29. > :52:34.your coach, it was such an emotional moment. Yes, we have been
:52:34. > :52:39.through it a bit this year once again. I think that is our 37th
:52:39. > :52:44.game in total. We have had some ups and downs, we have had some good
:52:44. > :52:49.hidings, but all these people, the whole club, the staff, the office
:52:49. > :52:57.staff, the text messages I got last week off them, it shows the kind of
:52:57. > :53:03.people we have got at the club. It is not just the players. We needed
:53:03. > :53:06.to create history again. People said, you finished fifth last year,
:53:06. > :53:11.can you do it again? We went through a bit last year, creating
:53:11. > :53:18.history, but I said, we need to create more history. What we have
:53:18. > :53:23.just done, in the play-offs, the journey that we have been on,
:53:23. > :53:27.including beating an outstanding team in Warrington here, it has
:53:27. > :53:31.been really tough. I feel really lucky man to be working with such a
:53:31. > :53:38.good group of people. It was tougher than last year, travelling
:53:38. > :53:41.to the Catalans was a big factor. This is a special bunch of lads.
:53:41. > :53:45.Warrington are a quality side, we have not beaten them in a final
:53:45. > :53:50.before. They have been a monkey on how backs. It was great to beat
:53:50. > :53:56.them, coming from behind as well. One thing we have got is that
:53:56. > :54:06.belief in this team. We are like a big family, we all believe in each
:54:06. > :54:06.
:54:06. > :54:12.other. This is why you coach, this is why you go through it all, for
:54:12. > :54:17.moments like this. We have a personal goals. I will be pinching
:54:17. > :54:21.myself for some time. I thought it was a really good, tough game of
:54:21. > :54:26.rugby league. At stages, it could have gone either way. It was not to
:54:26. > :54:30.be for us tonight. There is no place for losers. It is a great
:54:30. > :54:34.achievement, making the Grand Final. Warrington has never done that. I
:54:34. > :54:41.think it has been a successful year, although very disappointing tonight.
:54:41. > :54:45.Leeds have shown again how to win the Grand Final. The trophy is
:54:45. > :54:49.lifted for the fifth time in six years by Leeds Rhinos. When they
:54:49. > :54:54.come here to Old Trafford, they seem unbeatable. Brian Noble and
:54:54. > :54:57.Jonathan Davies watched it with me. The first question, and I do not
:54:57. > :55:01.mean this to sound negative, but why can't they do this at Wembley
:55:01. > :55:04.in the Challenge Cup Final? I am sure they will ask that question
:55:04. > :55:08.when they have had a few beers tonight. But that has been an
:55:08. > :55:13.amazing effort from Leeds. This is probably their best win in my mind,
:55:13. > :55:16.for the way they have gone about it, going to France, going to Wigan,
:55:16. > :55:23.really under the radar, in everybody's mind. It was a fabulous
:55:24. > :55:28.effort. An amazing game from Kevin Sinfield. I got quite emotional,
:55:28. > :55:32.but I admire him so much. I just thought tonight he was head and
:55:32. > :55:36.shoulders above every other player on the field. Defensively, he
:55:36. > :55:42.controlled the kicks, he nailed every kick, he scored the try, he
:55:42. > :55:46.was injured, his legs, his head, he was just immense. As Brian said,
:55:46. > :55:50.going away to the Catalans, going away to begin, and then doing this.
:55:50. > :55:54.What they did without the ball was incredible. Warrington, offensively,
:55:54. > :55:58.are very dangerous, and they have cut teams to ribbons. They have
:55:58. > :56:02.done it to Leeds a couple of times this year. They have learned from
:56:02. > :56:07.it. The defensive line speed was incredible, we never saw Hodgson
:56:07. > :56:12.coming into the line, we never saw them getting any width. They were
:56:12. > :56:17.absolutely magnificent. I agree with Brian, it is the best Grand
:56:17. > :56:20.Final win of the Super League era. And arguably in, one of the best
:56:20. > :56:24.Grand Final matches. People will have been watching, thinking, that
:56:24. > :56:29.was something special. It was everything you would want,
:56:29. > :56:33.extraordinary skill, extraordinary talent, and the desire that Leeds
:56:33. > :56:39.showed. And let's not forget Warrington, who played their part
:56:39. > :56:43.as well. It was redoubtable defence from Leeds. When they had their
:56:43. > :56:48.opportunities, they took them. They did not do anything with the ball
:56:48. > :56:52.in their own half, they just kicked and kicked. A new Sinfield would be
:56:52. > :56:58.there. And then, when they had the chances, they took them. They were
:56:58. > :57:04.brilliant. If there was ever going to be a hard-luck story, Leeds
:57:04. > :57:09.might have been aggrieved about that try which was not given.
:57:09. > :57:12.Nothing for Warrington, was there? Not really. They will assess this
:57:13. > :57:19.game and probably think they have not played as well as they have all
:57:19. > :57:25.year in the big games. But Leeds did not let them play. Jonathan
:57:26. > :57:30.mentioned the airline's fleet, and that comes from their desire. --
:57:30. > :57:35.their line speed. All the things you find about rugby league, the
:57:35. > :57:39.effort, the scale, they took their opportunities. Warrington, a couple
:57:39. > :57:44.of fumbles, a couple of penalties against them at the wrong time.
:57:44. > :57:49.Amazing effort. You could just show clips of Sinfield into today's
:57:49. > :57:55.match, and it epitomises everything Leeds stood for tonight. They did
:57:55. > :58:02.not want to relinquish their title. They came in as clear underdogs,
:58:02. > :58:04.but they deserve it, they were fantastic. The focus now switches
:58:04. > :58:09.to international rugby league on to international rugby league on
:58:09. > :58:14.the BBC. We will be covering the autumn internationals, starting on
:58:14. > :58:19.Saturday 20th October, with coverage of France against Wales
