:00:31. > :00:45.Everybody is saying go, go, go, and he goes. It is a try!

:00:46. > :00:50.Hello and welcome to Old Trafford for the 20 Rugby league World Cup

:00:51. > :01:01.final. This is the trophy, the Aussies want it back. In 2008 we had

:01:02. > :01:16.the World Cup taken from us. It is not just about skill, you have to

:01:17. > :01:24.hold your nerves. A penalty try awarded to New Zealand. That is a

:01:25. > :01:36.try! A shocking mistake. We want the World Cup back. I am Cameron Smith,

:01:37. > :01:40.welcome to the World Cup final. Thank you very much to Cameron Smith

:01:41. > :01:47.for introducing the final on the BBC. The former England captain

:01:48. > :01:52.Jamie Peacock is part of our team. The other two, quite frankly,

:01:53. > :02:03.deserve a camera shot all of their own. Robbie Hunter-Paul from the

:02:04. > :02:09.Kiwi's prospective, and Brian Noble. You have got a handkerchief. You

:02:10. > :02:15.have got fishing tackle on your jacket. I have never seen anybody

:02:16. > :02:22.able to carry out sports and checks. Well done for giving it a try. It is

:02:23. > :02:30.all going on out there, like my mind. How excited are you? Your

:02:31. > :02:39.country in the final again. I got up very early, I am well prepared, I

:02:40. > :02:43.could not sleep last night. There is a lot of needle in this game because

:02:44. > :02:49.of what happened in the final and 2008. You have been talking to

:02:50. > :02:57.Stephen Kearney, the coach, and they are pumped for this. Yes, the Kiwi

:02:58. > :03:00.boys are confident against the Aussies. It is their trophy as well

:03:01. > :03:10.and they are holding it at the moment. My big worry for the Kiwis

:03:11. > :03:15.is they are over cut. They had a really big game last week. The

:03:16. > :03:18.question of Australia is have they had enough games of sufficient

:03:19. > :03:27.toughness to get them ready for this final? The Aussies came into this

:03:28. > :03:33.tournament pretty relaxed. They have made 13 consecutive finals, said

:03:34. > :03:37.that is understandable. They have an inbred confidence they all

:03:38. > :03:41.understand. You put on that green and gold jumper and you expect to

:03:42. > :03:46.win and it has been like that for the last few years. But they have

:03:47. > :03:53.got to come out and play against New Zealand. Just explain what happens

:03:54. > :04:00.when New Zealand play Australia in a match that matters. The Aussies have

:04:01. > :04:05.won nine out of 11 between them. But the one that really mattered, the

:04:06. > :04:13.2010 four Nations final, the Kiwis won that. Do they raise the game for

:04:14. > :04:19.the ones that matter? For the people at home to understand the passion

:04:20. > :04:24.New Zealand have, you have to think about the Ashes. The reality is it

:04:25. > :04:28.is about winning not all the games, but about winning the big ones and

:04:29. > :04:35.the important ones and there are none more important than this. I was

:04:36. > :04:41.talking to Cameron Smith and they seem to be more concerned about New

:04:42. > :04:46.Zealand and England. Yes, I have heard that from inside the camp as

:04:47. > :04:54.well. The Kiwis have got the game to beat them, but more importantly the

:04:55. > :04:59.Kiwis believe they can beat them. Brian thinks the Australians are a

:05:00. > :05:05.bit undercut coming into this game and we will see exactly how they got

:05:06. > :05:39.here. They started off by beating England. New Zealand beat England

:05:40. > :05:59.this time last week. Burgess, what a try!

:06:00. > :07:35.He has done it, he has nailed it. Still incredibly painful to watch

:07:36. > :07:39.for those of us who were not involved on the field. Sam burgess

:07:40. > :07:45.has joined us, which we are delighted about. It must be harder

:07:46. > :07:52.for you to watch. Like I said today, walking through the streets to get

:07:53. > :07:57.here, there is a great atmosphere. Thank you for reminding me about

:07:58. > :08:04.last week, but it is going to be a good spectacle for rugby league. How

:08:05. > :08:12.hard has it been to try and think what if? There were so many. There

:08:13. > :08:23.always is. Today I was probably think a lot more than I did during

:08:24. > :08:27.the week. Last week was a great game. Unfortunately, we were on the

:08:28. > :08:34.wrong side of the scoreline, but I am very proud of the team and the

:08:35. > :08:41.staff and all their efforts. We have no idea how much we wish you were

:08:42. > :08:46.not here, if that makes sense. Last week, you said Sam's performance was

:08:47. > :08:50.the best performance in an English shirt for 20 years. I meant every

:08:51. > :08:55.word I said. I thought it was outstanding. It was the most

:08:56. > :09:01.outstanding performance I have ever seen for a long time. I just thought

:09:02. > :09:07.you set the lead for the team throughout the game. Cheers, last

:09:08. > :09:11.week Paul Deacon said to me before the game he needed me to play as

:09:12. > :09:20.well as I could if we had a chance of winning. I enjoyed playing in

:09:21. > :09:23.that jumper. I enjoyed the day and the atmosphere, but it is

:09:24. > :09:33.unfortunate we did not get the result. You are a player who raises

:09:34. > :09:38.his game in the England shirt. International Rugby league is a lot

:09:39. > :09:44.different to club rugby league. Games are won or lost on efforts off

:09:45. > :09:50.the ball as well as on the ball. You know yourself. It is all effort and

:09:51. > :09:56.you are representing your country and your family and everything. It

:09:57. > :10:02.brings out the best in players. That is why I love playing for England.

:10:03. > :10:11.You talk about what Jamie means to you and how he has brought you up.

:10:12. > :10:17.Take a look at Jamie's reaction. Look how scared Robbie looks. That

:10:18. > :10:25.is what it meant to us watching last week. Yeah, I think that is great.

:10:26. > :10:29.This country is very patriotic. It is brilliant support we have had

:10:30. > :10:36.throughout the whole tournament. It has been a joy to play in. Something

:10:37. > :10:43.happened last week when I scored that try. We can reveal what

:10:44. > :10:52.happened when the earlier try went over. My false teeth flew out across

:10:53. > :10:58.the studio. I was aware of a commotion behind me. We did not

:10:59. > :11:04.realise he had put them in upside down! As far as George is concerned,

:11:05. > :11:10.your brother, this must have been a difficult week for him because of

:11:11. > :11:17.his involvement in the penalty and a high tackle on Sonny boy Williamson.

:11:18. > :11:21.How is he? He is disappointed with that tackle. But he has had a good

:11:22. > :11:26.year and he did a lot of good things for his club and his country this

:11:27. > :11:35.year. Two pin one thing on a player... Sam is absolutely right,

:11:36. > :11:40.that is one moment. They were probably others that England could

:11:41. > :11:45.have done better, but it was not the highlight of the day and it was not

:11:46. > :11:52.the game breaking play. That happens with big bloke on big bloke all the

:11:53. > :11:56.time. For the moment, thank you. Sam is standing here next to us as an

:11:57. > :12:03.international rugby league player, but this is how it all began for Sam

:12:04. > :12:10.and his brothers. It was a huge part of my life. I spent a lot of time

:12:11. > :12:14.there as a kid. My dad coached there and my other three brothers played

:12:15. > :12:29.there as well. I started when I was five years old. We were bred into

:12:30. > :12:41.it, being four brothers. It was set in stone we were going to go there

:12:42. > :12:47.as well. The dad was a coach down here. He coached all his kids. They

:12:48. > :12:55.were a close-knit family. Sam was an outstanding player from 13. He was

:12:56. > :12:59.always head and shoulders above everybody else. My mum and dad were

:13:00. > :13:06.good at getting extra training and we had a chance to play from five or

:13:07. > :13:13.six years old, playing so young. They were to really likeable lad. My

:13:14. > :13:22.mum bought us red and blue boots to tell the difference between us on

:13:23. > :13:26.the pitch. They realised how good and big they work when Sam started

:13:27. > :13:38.to make it, but unfortunately Mark passed away. The biggest impact it

:13:39. > :13:48.had was on Sam because he became the carer and he did everything for

:13:49. > :13:53.Mark. It really made Sam Grow up. He realistically became the dad and he

:13:54. > :13:57.brought the twins on. I am really proud of my little brothers and they

:13:58. > :14:06.are always my little brother no matter how little they are. They got

:14:07. > :14:10.to Australia via Bradford Bulls and Leeds Rhinos. We are proud they are

:14:11. > :14:16.playing for their country, but they deserve it because they are good,

:14:17. > :14:22.grounded lads. Having seen that and having watched the game, if a kid

:14:23. > :14:29.wants to get into rugby league now, what advice would you give them? Get

:14:30. > :14:34.your boots on and go and enjoy it. I was down at the Hall last night and

:14:35. > :14:44.I said, enjoy your time and play with your friends. When you are 24

:14:45. > :14:49.or 25, or 34 or 35, you never forget your junior rugby league days. I

:14:50. > :14:56.said, get out there and enjoy it, it is a special time in your life.

:14:57. > :15:00.Brian is delighted if you think he is 35. You brought Sam into

:15:01. > :15:09.Bradford, what would you say to the kids who want to get involved? Get

:15:10. > :15:16.down to wherever you can play rugby league. The more and more people we

:15:17. > :15:20.have playing, you will love it. It's the mates that you get through it

:15:21. > :15:27.all, carries yon through your life. We saw Sam's dad in the piece, that

:15:28. > :15:35.no know if you've heard Brian's story about his encounter. My very

:15:36. > :15:42.first professional game as an under 19, you old fellow was playing

:15:43. > :15:48.professionally for the opposition, we went round the old boys club,

:15:49. > :15:54.your old fellow whacked me before we got on the field! So being a brave

:15:55. > :16:02.soldier, I tried to make the best of it can he was a lot bigger than me,

:16:03. > :16:04.the referee was a great referee in the local society and

:16:05. > :16:12.professionally, he sent us both off before we even got to the field! He

:16:13. > :16:18.said, right, you're off! Right, it's a tournament that has seen 27 games

:16:19. > :16:43.so far, one to go. Plenty of other states as well.

:16:44. > :17:24.They get a standing ovation, that has been a magnificent game.

:17:25. > :18:00.He has dropped it! Slipped over the line! Oh, dear.

:18:01. > :18:08.We have seen some spectacular hits, some fascinating bits of skill, and

:18:09. > :18:12.yet, I am led to believe that that video of her sniffing your shorts is

:18:13. > :18:18.one of the most watched viral things in Australia. So I have heard! She

:18:19. > :18:23.asked me for my shorts on the other side of the field, I've said I had

:18:24. > :18:27.some embarrassing undies on, I didn't think the cameras were

:18:28. > :18:33.rolling, they caught me off guard! She was happy, anyway! You haven't

:18:34. > :18:41.seen her for two weeks, but today... I wouldn't do that! I had never seen

:18:42. > :18:44.fear in your eyes before! Lets tell you how the Australians got here. We

:18:45. > :18:54.touched on an earlier. They were only tested earlier in the

:18:55. > :19:04.tournament. There try-line hasn't been crossed since.

:19:05. > :19:11.Let's hear from Tim Sheens, their coach. You may be halfway round the

:19:12. > :19:17.world but I get the impression a nation expects of you and your team?

:19:18. > :19:20.Yes, there will be expectation, that's obviously for the fans and

:19:21. > :19:24.the media and everyone else. From our point of view it's about the

:19:25. > :19:29.process today of playing well right through the game, not worrying too

:19:30. > :19:36.much about the end result, it's tense to look after itself. I know

:19:37. > :19:41.you have said that it's not about revenge, 2008 is history, but some

:19:42. > :19:49.of your lessons learnt a hard lesson that they. It really was five years

:19:50. > :19:55.ago, if you start worrying about what happened then, it's just

:19:56. > :19:58.something you don't need. So we really haven't talked about it, the

:19:59. > :20:03.media have tried to bring it up a little bit, with respect to you all,

:20:04. > :20:11.but the guys are just focused on this, this is about this team and

:20:12. > :20:18.this year. Is Billy Slater 100% fit? He wouldn't be playing if he wasn't.

:20:19. > :20:21.What does he bring to the team? He could coach the team, he could coach

:20:22. > :20:24.the team, he's that sort of player commie talks them through

:20:25. > :20:28.everything. The French style to Greg Inglis but he is the sort of guy

:20:29. > :20:34.that could coach the team -- different style to Greg Inglis. Tim

:20:35. > :20:39.Sheens says that Billy Slater is 100% it.

:20:40. > :20:53.Do you think it is a risk playing Slater? No, I think what he said is

:20:54. > :20:57.really telling, the fact he can coach this team shows what a smart

:20:58. > :21:04.player he is, and regardless of injury, Slater is a key part of this

:21:05. > :21:10.team. Leaving him to the side, where else can the Aussies win this?

:21:11. > :21:14.Fundamental to this is the Queensland core that runs through

:21:15. > :21:17.the centre, Billy Slater at fullback this guy right here is one of the

:21:18. > :21:22.world 's greatest fullbacks, one of the greatest in the completion. Then

:21:23. > :21:29.we have the stand-off, Johnathan Thurston, energetic and dynamic.

:21:30. > :21:37.Cooper Crunk and Cameron Smith, both of these guys, they revived the

:21:38. > :21:41.smart bits of play that get this Australian team around the field. --

:21:42. > :21:49.they provide. They all play together for Queensland. Expect to see these

:21:50. > :21:52.guys come up with the big decisions in the big moments of the game and

:21:53. > :21:56.get them right. Myself and Jamie have played against them on a number

:21:57. > :22:03.of occasions and that the crucial moments, they get the play is right,

:22:04. > :22:07.they make this team take. He is getting braver and braver! A couple

:22:08. > :22:13.of the Aussies look like they wanted clatter him. The fact that you

:22:14. > :22:19.Slater is back means the Australians have their best players in the best

:22:20. > :22:24.position? I think so, a lot of them want him at fullback, to put the

:22:25. > :22:30.best centre back into his position also unhappy decent player like

:22:31. > :22:34.Slater really helps. I don't think there is a risk, they were training

:22:35. > :22:38.on Wednesday and they batted him, so he is ready to play. If you look at

:22:39. > :22:45.the bench line-up, they are not worried about him. You mean they

:22:46. > :22:48.properly put him through his cases? -- places? Last week he did tell us

:22:49. > :22:54.that when he suffered the injury against the US, a suffered more pain

:22:55. > :23:02.when he received the injury then and when he did the original injury 12

:23:03. > :23:07.months before. That hurt anybody. What happened to him on Wednesday on

:23:08. > :23:09.the training field didn't quite replicate that but it's hard when

:23:10. > :23:16.you are in a vulnerable position, but he was picked up, stamped on,

:23:17. > :23:23.trampled on, he is fit to play. A shake of the head as you saw that

:23:24. > :23:33.try. It's not nice seeing that one. He might need his boots on stop he

:23:34. > :23:37.was right in amongst it! Let's just look at Thurston. He has been trying

:23:38. > :23:42.some of his kicks into this corner while we have been stood here. I

:23:43. > :23:48.think he is key to this Australian team winning it, it's the accuracy

:23:49. > :23:53.of his kicks. You can see where they land, a yard from the goal line.

:23:54. > :24:00.They don't score that time, they get a bit of luck on another cake, but

:24:01. > :24:09.his accuracy is incredible. -- another kick. A yard away from the

:24:10. > :24:15.goal line again. The games are won by building pressure, using the

:24:16. > :24:19.right kicks at the right time. Using a slightly different variation of

:24:20. > :24:26.the kick, but again, this art the same way they want to. I love the

:24:27. > :24:37.cake hear from him, and again, he landed in that area. -- a lovely

:24:38. > :24:44.cake here. A pertinent point about the kicking game, because it's so

:24:45. > :24:49.size from Australia, Cameron Smith creates a kind of pressure. The

:24:50. > :24:53.Kiwis have to do the same. If they don't find a kicking game better

:24:54. > :24:56.than the one they established last week and through the tournament, it

:24:57. > :25:03.will be tough for them. That's what the Aussies do well, they keep the

:25:04. > :25:07.ball in play. They try and where the opposition down that way. For the

:25:08. > :25:12.Kiwis to get the win, like Jamie Peacock said, they are going to have

:25:13. > :25:20.two disrupt Crunk and Thurston when they are kicking and try and force

:25:21. > :25:26.some errors. If the ball goes out into touch, it will favour them.

:25:27. > :25:34.We're going to let Ryan go now. He's going to join the commentary team,

:25:35. > :25:39.take one last look at the outfit! Robbie will rejoin us after we look

:25:40. > :25:49.at the semifinals from a Kiwi point of view.

:25:50. > :26:03.Penalty to New Zealand! A moment the heroes! -- moment for heroes.

:26:04. > :26:19.With literally seconds to play! Now he has a kick to win the game.

:26:20. > :26:27.They showed the courage to stay in their full stop and Sean was doing

:26:28. > :26:35.his thing. The boys, they showed right courage to get into the

:26:36. > :26:41.positions to get Sean to do a bit of magic. England played very well, we

:26:42. > :26:45.are going to have to improve our game, there are aspects that need a

:26:46. > :26:50.lot of work. Just have to go out and enjoy the moment. Here is how New

:26:51. > :27:11.Zealand got to the final. They were tested and they were

:27:12. > :27:16.tested to their physical limits, we saw Sonny Bill in that piece, with

:27:17. > :27:22.ice on him, as if he was in an episode of cat -- casualty! Will

:27:23. > :27:29.that physicality have taken it out of him? I don't think so, they have

:27:30. > :27:33.been building momentum, hopefully they will be able to build on

:27:34. > :27:38.everything as opposed to knock them about, it was a physical game, the

:27:39. > :27:43.intensity stayed all the way through to the final play of the game, which

:27:44. > :27:50.we saw Shaun Johnson breaking British hearts. We talked about

:27:51. > :27:57.Thurston, do you want to look at the New Zealand halves? They need to

:27:58. > :28:00.make sure the halves dominate the game. We know they have the strike

:28:01. > :28:09.weapons on the edge but it needs Shaun Johnson to get it together,

:28:10. > :28:17.they are doing those strikes together. If they have this type of

:28:18. > :28:25.talent, with the strike factor weapons, they can get over the

:28:26. > :28:32.try-line. Having that game sense to know that there will be people

:28:33. > :28:38.sitting back in the whole, and they can get over the try-line. There we

:28:39. > :28:41.see the play that breaks the English hearts. Once again, we're looking

:28:42. > :28:48.about the individual ability of the New Zealanders. You can see the

:28:49. > :28:55.footwork of Shaun Johnson, he just stops Kevin Sinfield, he stutters,

:28:56. > :29:01.he bounces out and you tell lies with your eyes, you see George

:29:02. > :29:05.coming across as well, that's what New Zealand can bring. What they

:29:06. > :29:17.need to do, importantly, is make sure they play in the middle of the

:29:18. > :29:23.park, and the halves are crucial. He gave him a little tap as he went

:29:24. > :29:27.past. Did you talk about that in the England dressing room at half-time?

:29:28. > :29:32.Not really, that's just individual audience. Sometimes you can't stop

:29:33. > :29:37.things that people throw at you, you saw Shaun Johnson, with the

:29:38. > :29:41.footwork. But I think the Kiwis to do well, they have to put everything

:29:42. > :29:45.together, the halves need to mix it with the forward and link it with

:29:46. > :29:51.the backline. I think we are in for a great game today, great spectacle.

:29:52. > :29:58.Speaking of the forwards, let's go and join Earl Crabtree who has been

:29:59. > :30:03.looking at them. If New Zealand want to get their hands on the World Cup,

:30:04. > :30:08.they have to win the middle of the field, they have two dominate, the

:30:09. > :30:13.likes of Hargreaves and the Bromwich, they have to make sure

:30:14. > :30:18.they dominate there. If they do that they stand a good chance. And they

:30:19. > :30:31.give themselves an opportunity off the bench to make sure they can lift

:30:32. > :30:37.the intensity. Isaac Luke has been sensational. He is going to beat the

:30:38. > :30:44.one to watch. He will be exploiting any chinks in the armour. Off the

:30:45. > :30:48.back of that is a player we have not mentioned yet. Sonny Bill Williams.

:30:49. > :30:56.Expect to see magic from that guy tonight. He knows how to turn it on.

:30:57. > :31:05.When he wants to do it, he will do it. The New Zealand players just

:31:06. > :31:09.walking behind us now. A lot of the crowd are in Kiwi deer. They are

:31:10. > :31:16.standing and they are applauding as they go off. All of this, this whole

:31:17. > :31:24.game is being played against the backdrop of what happened five years

:31:25. > :31:37.ago. The Kiwis have played Australia in two previous World Cup finals,

:31:38. > :31:49.losing them both. I think we are in for a 1090 minutes. And that has

:31:50. > :32:07.stunned New Zealand after such a good opening. Things are not going

:32:08. > :32:19.as planned. Wonderful passing. The skipper is over the line. I think he

:32:20. > :32:23.has got it down! They Kiwi crowd is going wild. It is the biggest upset

:32:24. > :32:34.ever in the history of the World Cup. New Zealand, the champions of

:32:35. > :32:40.the world. They were the players who won it five years ago. Here are the

:32:41. > :32:46.players who are going to try and retain it this afternoon at Old

:32:47. > :32:52.Trafford. Three of the members of the 2008 team are in the 17 today.

:32:53. > :33:03.Stephen Kearney coached them five years ago and he coaches them this

:33:04. > :33:10.afternoon. He led the Haka. He is with Robbie Hunter-Paul. What are

:33:11. > :33:14.your memories of the 2000 Rugby league World Cup final? I remember

:33:15. > :33:20.getting beaten and it was not a great memory. It was a wonderful

:33:21. > :33:27.occasion for us. We were pretty close in the game, but we did not

:33:28. > :33:38.quite manage it. We have to do it today. You had success in 2008. Can

:33:39. > :33:43.you do it again ten night? We are here and we feel we have not had our

:33:44. > :33:51.best performance out there yet in this tournament. I am pretty sure it

:33:52. > :33:54.is going to be today. What are the key moments or key individuals you

:33:55. > :34:02.are looking for from the Australians? They have a number.

:34:03. > :34:11.Cameron Smith is very influential. Billy is back in the group. You

:34:12. > :34:16.could name 17. For as it is about ourselves and putting in our best

:34:17. > :34:22.performance. If we play to our best ability today, we will give

:34:23. > :34:28.ourselves a great chance. It was a physical game against England last

:34:29. > :34:33.week. How have you prepared? The guys are in great spirit. We are in

:34:34. > :34:37.the World Cup final. It has been a challenge to keep your feet on the

:34:38. > :34:43.ground most of the week, but they are in good spirits and I am pretty

:34:44. > :34:48.sure it will be a great performance. Stephen Kearney was talking to

:34:49. > :35:13.Robbie. We are ten minutes away from seeing some of the biggest stars in

:35:14. > :35:26.rugby league. # Chrome I need to know now, now now, will you love me

:35:27. > :35:45.again? # I need to know now, will you love me again? # . It is getting

:35:46. > :35:53.close. They will be in the tunnel very shortly. The Australian team go

:35:54. > :36:08.through their final warm ups. We can hear from two of them now. How could

:36:09. > :36:15.you get sick of that face? That is sensational from the kangaroos. It

:36:16. > :36:19.has been a successful campaign so far. We have improved in every match

:36:20. > :36:27.since the first game, but this will have to be a bigger effort. A few

:36:28. > :36:32.guys involved in the 2008 World Cup, it is still disappointing we

:36:33. > :36:39.lost that game. It has not been tough for the Kiwis. We are here to

:36:40. > :36:45.be the 2013 champions. It is nothing to do with making up what happened

:36:46. > :37:02.in 2008 because nothing is going to change the result. You and me. He

:37:03. > :37:11.gets a bit annoying. He is a bit of a personality. We went to the zoo

:37:12. > :37:25.and we went to the Guinness brewery. That will be the one and

:37:26. > :37:34.only Guinness I will have. We saw Wayne Rooney and Ryan Giggs. I am a

:37:35. > :37:43.fan of Roger Tuivasa-Sheck. He has got great footwork. I think England

:37:44. > :37:55.are pretty unlucky not to be in the final. There have been too many.

:37:56. > :38:04.When I think about it it was not funny at the time because it's done.

:38:05. > :38:16.That was a good shot because he was about 30 metres away. He did not

:38:17. > :38:21.have much to work with. We need to play our best footie to beat the

:38:22. > :38:28.Kiwis, there is no doubt about that. It is going to be a special night

:38:29. > :38:36.for myself personally to work -- walk out in the kangaroos' site at

:38:37. > :38:42.Old Trafford. He likes to laugh. There is no doubt they have enjoyed

:38:43. > :38:44.this tournament. But you want to concentrate on Smith and his head to

:38:45. > :39:00.concentrate on Smith and his head-to-head battle with Isaac Luke.

:39:01. > :39:09.Eyes Luke likes to be very direct. But at the start he has only had two

:39:10. > :39:13.kicks from dummy half an Cameron has had 20. Cameron has got many strings

:39:14. > :39:22.to his bow and he is a great leader for the Australian team. The sun is

:39:23. > :39:28.shining. How beautiful is that? The stadium is full for this 2013 Rugby

:39:29. > :39:35.league World Cup final. We saw them hugging each other making their way

:39:36. > :39:39.out into the tunnel. How will they be feeling? They will be excited

:39:40. > :39:46.because they know the whole year is resting on the next few minutes. We

:39:47. > :39:52.used to own this trophy and we need to protect it and we need to go out

:39:53. > :39:57.and own it once again. We are coming in against underdogs, but they have

:39:58. > :40:02.to go up against Australia and believe in themselves and play for

:40:03. > :40:08.their full 80 minutes with intensity. They are underdogs and

:40:09. > :40:14.they can go head to head with the Aussies. I think the game against

:40:15. > :40:21.the English will stand the Kiwis in good stead. What you cannot factor

:40:22. > :40:27.in is collision. They are going from ten Myles an hour collisions up to

:40:28. > :40:32.30 Myles an hour collisions. It will take some time for the Australians

:40:33. > :40:36.to adjust to that. You live in Australia and you work in

:40:37. > :40:43.Australia, Robbie, how much does five years ago cropped up? It must

:40:44. > :40:50.still play on the minds of some of those who featured five years ago?

:40:51. > :40:57.The Australians are a very passionate nation. For the Kiwis it

:40:58. > :41:02.gives them a sense of confidence, they know they can go out and get

:41:03. > :41:07.the job done. That is what makes for a great game today. I am sure the

:41:08. > :41:15.hairs will be standing up on the back of their necks. This is the

:41:16. > :41:42.2013 Rugby league World Cup final. Here, Australia and New Zealand.

:41:43. > :41:49.There is determination and concentration on 26 men as they walk

:41:50. > :41:54.towards the middle of this Old Trafford pitch. I wonder as they

:41:55. > :41:58.came out if they took a moment to look around and take in the crowd as

:41:59. > :42:07.they applaud them to their team line ups. A few moments from getting

:42:08. > :43:04.underway in the World Cup final. The anthems will be sung by Russell

:43:05. > :43:10.Watson. # Australians all let us rejoice. # For we are young and

:43:11. > :43:14.free. # We've golden soil and wealth for

:43:15. > :43:18.toil. # Our home is girt by sea.

:43:19. > :43:23.# Our land abounds in nature's gifts.

:43:24. > :43:36.# Of beauty rich and rare. # In history's page let every stage.

:43:37. > :43:39.# Advance Australia fair. # In joyful strains then let us

:43:40. > :44:19.sing. # Advance Australia fair.

:44:20. > :44:29.# E Ihoa Atua. # O nga iwi matou ra.

:44:30. > :44:38.# Ata whakarongona. # Me aroha noa. # Kia hua ko te pai.

:44:39. > :45:07.# Kia tau to ata whai. # Manaakitia mai.

:45:08. > :45:14.# Aotearoa. # God of nations! At Thy feet. # In

:45:15. > :45:21.the bonds of love we meet. # Hear our voices, we entreat. # God defend

:45:22. > :45:26.our Free Land. # Guard Pacific's triple star.

:45:27. > :45:31.# From the shafts of strife and war. # Make her praises heard afar. # God

:45:32. > :45:58.defend New Zealand. The crowd show their appreciation of

:45:59. > :46:07.Russell Watson singing both national anthems. We are not down with the

:46:08. > :46:09.pre-match rituals. Let's see what happens when the Kiwis do the haka

:46:10. > :47:56.this afternoon. They didn't get as close as they did

:47:57. > :48:01.five years ago. It's an intimidating atmosphere. This is the rugby league

:48:02. > :48:02.World Cup final 2013. Forget what it could have been and enjoy what it's

:48:03. > :48:48.going to be. The Kiwis are the holders but the

:48:49. > :48:52.underdogs. The Kangaroos want their trophy back. And Old Trafford is a

:48:53. > :48:59.herbalist shop for a potential epic here today. -- are fabulous actor.

:49:00. > :49:08.New Zealand had a couple of injury concerns in the build-up, Elijah

:49:09. > :49:15.Taylor is back at loose forward. Vatuvei and Tuivasa-Sheck are both

:49:16. > :49:19.fit. Tuivasa-Sheck has been an electrifying presence on the wing

:49:20. > :49:23.for the Kiwis. Alex Glenn coming in on the bench. For Australia, their

:49:24. > :49:29.the consent has been over fullback Lee Slater. He is fit and having to

:49:30. > :49:34.have a positive influence. Greg Inglis moves back into the three

:49:35. > :49:43.quarters. What an imposing presence he provides.

:49:44. > :49:51.The referee today is an Englishman, Richard Silverwood. There isn't

:49:52. > :49:57.Englishman on the touchline. -- there is an Englishman. The final

:49:58. > :49:59.act at the end of five fabulous weeks of drama, it really has been a

:50:00. > :50:08.wonderful tournament and this should be a fitting finale. Look at that!

:50:09. > :50:14.We are in for a cracker. Last week was a banquet, this is a feast, or

:50:15. > :50:22.the other way round! This is going to be a belter. There is an early

:50:23. > :50:32.mistake by Bromwich. But that one down to nerves. He rushed up, took

:50:33. > :50:33.his eyes off the ball. Great attacking position now for

:50:34. > :50:46.Australia. Probably not the start the Kiwis

:50:47. > :50:53.wanted. Big, big test now. Early in the match. Australia looking to

:50:54. > :51:04.stamp their authority on the game right from the off.

:51:05. > :51:11.Brett Morris is often the one who goes under the headlines but he a

:51:12. > :51:39.really good player. Really efficient finisher.

:51:40. > :51:53.There were hands in there. Foran puts it behind the line. I thought

:51:54. > :52:08.the Aussies knocked that on. They are asking for a video decision full

:52:09. > :52:22.mighty relief for the Kiwis. They were strong, they put halfback

:52:23. > :52:28.pressure on. One of the interesting dynamics, the first courage to have

:52:29. > :52:34.made back-to-back finals in the long history of these world cups, the

:52:35. > :52:38.dynamic is who the crowd sides with. Normally you would expect them to go

:52:39. > :52:44.with New Zealand but given that New Zealand eat England last week it'll

:52:45. > :52:50.be interesting to see how they go. I think they will definitely support

:52:51. > :52:51.New Zealand, they were definitely going the Aussies when they came

:52:52. > :53:04.out. Police later had an important role

:53:05. > :53:08.five years ago, with an uncharacteristic mistake -- police

:53:09. > :53:15.later. I wonder if he has memories of that. One of the tactics the

:53:16. > :53:19.Australians will use is put Shaun Johnson under pressure and disrupt

:53:20. > :53:23.the New Zealand kicking game. I think New Zealand need to take a

:53:24. > :53:26.leaf out of their book, do the same to Thurston and to Evans if he comes

:53:27. > :53:44.on the field, and Cameron Smith. Kieron Bryan ran Billy Slater

:53:45. > :53:47.offered, the penalty goes Australia's way. Great field

:53:48. > :53:52.position. What at the bottom of your screen,

:53:53. > :54:08.that is far too obvious. They are going for gold, which is

:54:09. > :54:15.probably a sign of the respect between these two teams. There is a

:54:16. > :54:19.huge advantage in the centre. Greg Inglis and Jarryd Hayne, what a

:54:20. > :54:25.class pairing that is. If they get a lot of ball today, that could be

:54:26. > :54:26.significant, there are -- they are bigger and quicker than their

:54:27. > :54:40.opposite numbers. Johnathan Thurston is on for a

:54:41. > :54:44.record, six more points and he beats the international point-scoring

:54:45. > :54:51.record, established by Mick Cronin. 309 points. The first two of the

:54:52. > :55:00.game, taking Thurston to within four points of making that record. And

:55:01. > :55:05.more pertinently, Australia lead. It's bubbly on the back of quite an

:55:06. > :55:12.obvious shoulder charge from Foran. -- it's probably. They dropped the

:55:13. > :55:16.ball once, the Kiwis, and given a penalty away, that is why we are

:55:17. > :55:18.seeing the two point difference. I think they are quite pleased it is

:55:19. > :55:32.only two points. Very narrow in goals here, at Old

:55:33. > :55:37.Trafford. You're kicking has to be precise. You don't want to give away

:55:38. > :55:38.too much from restarts. Any crossfield kicks, you don't want

:55:39. > :56:04.them to go dead. Australia look to roll forward.

:56:05. > :56:16.Trying to build some momentum here in these early stages.

:56:17. > :56:23.Hoping for an awkward bounce but Tuivasa-Sheck has collected it, he

:56:24. > :56:30.so often beats that first man, he did it again. We spoke at the top of

:56:31. > :56:41.the show about the intensity of this game, who would have most, but most

:56:42. > :56:46.of the green and gold, they will understand pressure from second one

:56:47. > :56:52.until the last second. I think Tuivasa-Sheck is struggling. He

:56:53. > :57:00.started limping. He is gone, I think. He's going off. He had the

:57:01. > :57:04.injury coming in, didn't he? He was hurt against England. There were

:57:05. > :57:09.doubts about him coming in this week. You can see the shin is

:57:10. > :57:15.heavily strapped up. At one stage they thought it might have been

:57:16. > :57:21.broken last week. First involvement in the game and he is off, that is

:57:22. > :57:25.very, very sad to him. New Zealand, in the meantime, in decent position

:57:26. > :57:49.inside the Australian half. Foran across the line! Could take by

:57:50. > :57:52.Mannering, still going. He has left an Australian player down injured,

:57:53. > :57:58.Jarryd Hayne looks in all kinds of trouble. Up go the big hands of

:57:59. > :58:04.Sonny Bill Williams, a dangerous off-load outside, he has gone on the

:58:05. > :58:08.inside. The referee says knock-on. I think we will get some treatment

:58:09. > :58:15.here for Jarryd Hayne, who looks in a terrible way. He was whacked,

:58:16. > :58:27.legitimately, as he was carrying the ball. That's a shame for the young

:58:28. > :58:35.lead. -- the young lad. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, already. That's

:58:36. > :58:47.rather innocuous, didn't look like anything stop --. I thought it was a

:58:48. > :58:59.textbook tackle. It might have been that left knee clipping him. It's

:59:00. > :59:07.got to be the head bone. -- hipbone. He is really struggling. He doesn't

:59:08. > :59:10.look great, Jarryd Hayne. He made his way into this Australian side,

:59:11. > :59:14.wasn't involved in the first game against England. And this is the

:59:15. > :59:20.concern for Australia, Lewis having been injured earlier in the

:59:21. > :59:32.tournament, they lose that second row three quarters person to bring

:59:33. > :59:39.on. The worry was Slater. Now with the injury to Jarryd Hayne, it's a

:59:40. > :59:42.different dynamic. I know Tim Sheens was saying earlier in the

:59:43. > :59:46.tournament, when they tried to fill the three quarters line with a

:59:47. > :59:49.second rower who wasn't used to playing there, that they had been

:59:50. > :59:55.caught. New Zealand will be sensing this, if he goes off, although

:59:56. > :00:05.having said that, looks as though he will be OK. He is up on his feet.

:00:06. > :00:06.Jarryd Hayne 's stays on for the time being. He will try to run it

:00:07. > :00:53.off if he can. They have gone through five and here

:00:54. > :01:05.comes the last. Greg English almost got there. That is good play. Good

:01:06. > :01:22.yardage. It was a great kick by Thurston.

:01:23. > :01:33.We know how good and effective Isaac Luke is in that position, but he is

:01:34. > :01:47.very selective. Sonny Bill Williams gets the ball every time. The timing

:01:48. > :01:53.is to perfection. There was a far more pressure on the Kiwi fullback

:01:54. > :02:33.than Billy Slater. I think Slater got a lot of protection.

:02:34. > :02:44.Straight into Greg Bird. The Australians are very patient. Like

:02:45. > :02:49.the test match at the start we talked about the differences at the

:02:50. > :02:56.highest level. They will wait for the minutest of opportunities and

:02:57. > :03:05.execute. We have got news from both Benson -- ventures. He is tiny

:03:06. > :03:13.Arnold. Roger Tuivasa-Sheck went straight in. Jarryd Hayne took a

:03:14. > :03:20.bang on a nerve that goes down his neck, but he will be all right. That

:03:21. > :03:30.is OK because it is not his head. He will run that off. A penalty for New

:03:31. > :03:36.Zealand. Greg Bird loves to get under your skin, doesn't he? With

:03:37. > :03:41.the little penalties he is a fantastic player. When he played

:03:42. > :04:28.over here for Catalan he played in the harvest. -- the harvests.

:04:29. > :04:45.That man Greg Bird, he is a good player. English is a powerful man,

:04:46. > :04:52.but even he cannot push of three key ways. Australia have lost a bit of

:04:53. > :05:06.ground. They will have to hand over the ball. The cake was not far

:05:07. > :05:13.enough. John is down on the touchline. I am here with Mark

:05:14. > :05:19.Webber, the Formula one star. What do you make of the game? It is

:05:20. > :05:24.pretty tense, they are feeling each other out. It is great to see the

:05:25. > :05:30.sport that I grew up with, rugby league, playing here today. It will

:05:31. > :05:33.be a hot contest. What do you make of the World Cup so far? An awesome

:05:34. > :06:01.tournament. A penalty to New Zealand. Mark

:06:02. > :06:19.Webber is a Canberra fan. He had his last race last week for Red Bull.

:06:20. > :06:28.Penalty for New Zealand, going for gold, no great surprise. It has been

:06:29. > :06:41.an intense start to this game. They have taken quite a bit out of each

:06:42. > :06:46.other. No clear-cut chances. I have to say the referee's it means you

:06:47. > :06:55.certainly cannot miss him. You cannot mistake him for a player, can

:06:56. > :07:10.you? He is not kicking the goal, you know he is the referee! We talked

:07:11. > :07:17.about Mick Cronin who has 76 World Cup points. If Johnson kicks this,

:07:18. > :07:21.he will equal that record. Here is an opportunity for Shaun Johnson,

:07:22. > :07:30.the man who broke English hearts seven days ago. A chance to bring

:07:31. > :07:39.parity to this World Cup final. A last, lingering look at the target

:07:40. > :07:45.ahead of him. Old Trafford quiet and is a little as Johnson puts it over.

:07:46. > :07:50.From the raucous nature of the Rohrer greeting those two points

:07:51. > :07:53.from New Zealand, we are left in no doubt as to where the majority of

:07:54. > :08:15.the sympathy lies in the audience today.

:08:16. > :08:23.Australia looking to win their 10th world title in their 13th

:08:24. > :08:30.consecutive World Cup final. Cameron Smith is a world class player, but

:08:31. > :08:47.why do they kick to him? They call him the beast for a reason. But

:08:48. > :08:49.Vatuvei has a bit of vulnerability. There is a suggestion he is not

:08:50. > :09:14.great under the high ball. That is great play. They run back

:09:15. > :09:23.and they stand in front of Billy Slater. They just stand there and

:09:24. > :09:29.stop. They make it very difficult. Just watch this. They stopped so

:09:30. > :09:55.they have to go around him. Cameron Smith has got the measure of

:09:56. > :10:01.them. That is an inch perfect kick. New Zealand have the drop-out under

:10:02. > :10:07.the sticks. Cameron Smith is a genius at this. They like to keep

:10:08. > :10:15.the ball in play and you have to play every second. It was a great

:10:16. > :10:20.kick. The chase was not great from the winner. Thurston gets across and

:10:21. > :10:26.makes a tackle. They are telepathic, him, Thurston, Cronk and Billy

:10:27. > :10:34.Slater. It is fantastic how they work together. A quartet with the

:10:35. > :10:40.all conquering Queensland side as well and that makes a difference.

:10:41. > :10:43.They perform season in an season out in these big games. They know each

:10:44. > :11:12.other's play intimately. That is a good tackle, you have got

:11:13. > :11:28.to close English down. Paul Gallen comes from New South Wales. It is

:11:29. > :11:36.Slater who scores the game's opening try. That is why he is so important

:11:37. > :11:44.to this Australian side. The timing of the run and the jump. He is not a

:11:45. > :11:57.giant, but he is great in the air with his hands. A fantastic try. A

:11:58. > :12:06.great kick from Thurston. A great leap from Billy Slater. The smallest

:12:07. > :12:12.man in their back line. Watch this. That is great pinpoint accuracy. But

:12:13. > :12:18.you have got to admire the leap and the catch and the finish. Super play

:12:19. > :12:26.from Australia. Number four has got to try and get that. If you have got

:12:27. > :12:32.a running jump to it, you have the advantage, and that is what this man

:12:33. > :12:38.does, Billy Slater. You think he is going to take it anyway, but you

:12:39. > :12:45.could get higher if you do a running jump at it and that is why Billy

:12:46. > :12:51.Slater is so special. His timing was fantastic. He had eyes on the ball

:12:52. > :12:55.all the way. But he watches the defender and he waits for him to

:12:56. > :13:00.leap and that is how he timed his jump. He did not have to do it that

:13:01. > :13:08.time because he could see the flight of the ball the full distance. There

:13:09. > :13:15.may be a bit of redemption for 2008. Australia are back in the lead. Just

:13:16. > :13:21.explaining to the viewers while the kick is so special. You are allowed

:13:22. > :13:27.to catch Billy Slater whilst he is making the catch. That is just

:13:28. > :13:32.before the line. He has got the run and the jump. A brilliant catch and

:13:33. > :13:42.a brilliant cake. As Brian said earlier, they are great at finishing

:13:43. > :13:43.sets off. That is the difference. They keep their composure,

:13:44. > :14:08.brilliant. Australia looking to bring it

:14:09. > :14:15.forward again. There is something about an Australian side in a big

:14:16. > :14:22.match. They know their lines. I think it is a bit more than that. I

:14:23. > :14:26.think Slater and Greg Inglis and Thurston and Cooper Cronk and Smith,

:14:27. > :14:32.they know their roles and they know what they have to do. You cannot

:14:33. > :14:46.switch off for a second. And when they kick well... It have to be

:14:47. > :14:51.dealt with. What they do is they do the basics very well. Then you have

:14:52. > :15:00.somebody do a bit of magic and that is the difference. It needs

:15:01. > :15:05.something special from New Zealand to open this game up. At the moment

:15:06. > :15:12.Australia have a stranglehold on proceedings. They have got to find a

:15:13. > :15:16.kick. The difference between the two teams at the moment is the kicking

:15:17. > :15:27.game and the accuracy of the kicking.

:15:28. > :15:35.At the moment, they're not getting to Thurston. That is difficult for a

:15:36. > :15:40.right footed player. You gets a good kick but hasn't got the yardage.

:15:41. > :15:47.They don't really know who is going to kick the ball, is a Thurston, is

:15:48. > :15:54.it Kronk? Is it Cameron Smith? Kevin Locke, they need to take the

:15:55. > :16:03.pressure off Johnson. Any news from the sidelines? When I played against

:16:04. > :16:07.the Australians previously, they put together periods of the game where

:16:08. > :16:13.they are almost flawless. They are in that phase now, it's a very

:16:14. > :16:36.dangerous period for New Zealand. They are rolling forward again here.

:16:37. > :16:49.Juror ability stamped on his back. -- durability. A steam roller in

:16:50. > :16:57.green and gold knocked him over. That's a great catch! He stays in

:16:58. > :17:00.the field of play as well. Just to reinforce that, they are in this

:17:01. > :17:03.period where they are taking all your energy out of you and you don't

:17:04. > :17:11.ink you can do anything against them, so they need inspiration here,

:17:12. > :17:14.New Zealand. -- you don't think. I think they find it difficult to get

:17:15. > :17:21.into any field position. Although the yardage the Aussies are making,

:17:22. > :17:26.it's so good, they haven't had any good field position yet. This is

:17:27. > :17:30.where he is kicking from, the pressure is on. The Australians will

:17:31. > :17:57.get over the halfway line easily. Australia, rolling it back now.

:17:58. > :18:05.Parker is on the field. He was named in the international team of the

:18:06. > :18:06.year, Corey Parker. He is only an interchange player when it comes to

:18:07. > :18:44.the Australian World Cup side. Plenty of questions here! Loads of

:18:45. > :18:48.them! And Richard Silverwood is not prepared to answer, from what he

:18:49. > :19:01.saw. So it's handed to our video referee.

:19:02. > :19:16.Start with the onside or offside. That's fine, all outside players are

:19:17. > :19:33.onside. Through into the challenge. The Australian player attempts to

:19:34. > :19:40.knock it back. OK, the Australian player hasn't touched it. Roll that

:19:41. > :19:54.back again. Initially comes off the New Zealand player. It is now

:19:55. > :20:01.touched the Australian player backwards, that's a zero tackle of

:20:02. > :20:08.New Zealand. We have a knock-on by New Zealand at the moment. Just

:20:09. > :20:17.normal speed, run this through fairly quick, we need to now confirm

:20:18. > :20:27.the onside or offside. OK, this will be fine. If he's kicking it on the

:20:28. > :20:37.line, he is onside. Run it through now. Both Cooper Kronk and Billy

:20:38. > :20:47.Slater were onside. He's on the ground now. That's OK, no immediate

:20:48. > :21:03.tackle. The ball is up. The hand is underneath. I am going to say the

:21:04. > :21:09.hand is underneath. So the ball is up in this position. The ball is

:21:10. > :21:14.still up, keep it running through. We have an Australian player in as a

:21:15. > :21:20.potential driver. The hand is on the line. Can we look from the other

:21:21. > :21:28.side? We have a possible penalty here with the driver. I cannot place

:21:29. > :21:33.the ball on the ground. The hand is always underneath. He is only

:21:34. > :21:42.touching the Australian player so that's OK. This will be no try, it

:21:43. > :21:51.will be a penalty to New Zealand. It will be ten metres out.

:21:52. > :22:01.There is a history of decisions going the way over New Zealand in

:22:02. > :22:05.World Cup finals. That is an amazing tackle, a great, great tackle. To

:22:06. > :22:14.stop the ball from being grounded, that's a special, special effort. I

:22:15. > :22:18.think Kronk did ground the ball, but what the video referee says is,

:22:19. > :22:23.you're not allowed to drive another player and impede a defender, I

:22:24. > :22:29.think Fifita get involved in the tackle and pushes him. So it's

:22:30. > :22:38.clearly a video to New Zealand in the repertory's mine. I think Fifita

:22:39. > :22:41.thought he had scored. He looks as though he might be questioning the

:22:42. > :22:47.decision, Tim Sheens. What a let off for New Zealand. Had Cooper Kronk

:22:48. > :22:52.scored that try, you would have to say, a long way back for New

:22:53. > :23:01.Zealand. He is a player who might give them some lake speed. -- lake

:23:02. > :23:10.speed. A lot of shaking of the heads of the strange and! -- of the

:23:11. > :23:14.Australians! We can't let that worry us. We have defended really well and

:23:15. > :23:19.put ourselves in good positions, hopefully we can continue that. It

:23:20. > :23:25.has to be a full 80 minutes from you guys will stop definitely. We have

:23:26. > :23:37.got to be on our toes for the whole game.

:23:38. > :23:46.The point is, they are allowed to stand still, although they clearly

:23:47. > :23:50.moved their direction to get in the way of an attacking player. It's the

:23:51. > :23:52.number of green shirts that is impeding the Kiwis, not what they

:23:53. > :24:03.are doing. Also, what they do is they make the

:24:04. > :24:09.early yards, they run very quickly, they get in position, so they don't

:24:10. > :24:13.have to change their angle. I have to say again, difference so far has

:24:14. > :24:18.been the quality of the kicking game. On the final tackle, the

:24:19. > :24:27.quality hasn't been great from the Kiwis. There is an off load too far.

:24:28. > :24:40.Given away to New Zealand. Now, can they pick up the momentum?

:24:41. > :24:51.What a 12 months he has had back in rugby league, Sonny Bill Williams.

:24:52. > :25:04.He just had to reach a little. But his footwork was good enough.

:25:05. > :25:13.This next is the last play in this set. That's a good kick!

:25:14. > :25:22.Australian defenders, right on the line. That is fabulous play. Morris

:25:23. > :25:34.and Jarryd Hayne, involved in the tackle. That kick needed to be a

:25:35. > :25:42.yard extra, a yard longer, he would have taken it over the try-line but

:25:43. > :25:48.great defence. So Australia, having to do a bit of hard stuff here.

:25:49. > :25:51.Billy Slater, shouting instructions to his team-mates and they have a

:25:52. > :25:57.penalty. Hanging onto long, the Kiwi defenders. I think the referee

:25:58. > :26:03.lasted a bit there, the Australians were claiming and whingeing, saying

:26:04. > :26:12.that's a penalty, I don't know whether it is a tilt call, -- will

:26:13. > :26:28.call... Certainly a relief from an Australian point of view.

:26:29. > :26:57.Suddenly, there is a chance if Ford Deri is void! It might fill for

:26:58. > :27:04.Cooper Kronk, who has got the try! Not the way it was intended, not

:27:05. > :27:05.confirmed just yet. He has been denied once. Is he to be denied

:27:06. > :27:32.again? Video referee again. Both players run through the line,

:27:33. > :27:43.that's OK, so we are playing on. That's fine, he's onside. The

:27:44. > :27:51.pick-up is clean. It's all good so far. The ball is up. That's fine,

:27:52. > :28:07.that will be a try. No denying Cooper Cronk at the

:28:08. > :28:15.second time of asking. And Australia do have their second try, and pushed

:28:16. > :28:22.the lead up. Good communication as well, they can't get the passing

:28:23. > :28:27.size Cooper Cronk, but what they have is good communication, and

:28:28. > :28:30.there is a slip, one slip which gives Cooper Cronk that slight

:28:31. > :28:36.advantage to get to the ball, which makes the difference.

:28:37. > :28:47.In this team of stars, he was the Player of the Year in the NRL.

:28:48. > :28:55.Thurston, looking to equal Mick Cronin's point-scoring record,

:28:56. > :29:10.actually break it, can he goes to 310.

:29:11. > :29:20.Old Trafford looks blended, doesn't it? Filled to capacity today.

:29:21. > :29:24.Thurston curls this one round, he has done so superbly. A little

:29:25. > :29:30.moment of international rugby league history for Thurston, he becomes the

:29:31. > :29:38.most prolific international points scorer, with 310. Sonny Bill allows

:29:39. > :29:43.the off load, great skills, get the boy away, there is the kick and

:29:44. > :29:52.there is the slip. And Cooper Cronk is in. What are you saying, Earl

:29:53. > :29:56.Crabtree? We're talking about the forward battle, I have been as

:29:57. > :30:02.appointed, too many players falling off tackles and laying on the floor,

:30:03. > :30:05.it's creating opportunities for the Australians, they have to tighten up

:30:06. > :30:26.if they are going to get anything out of this. They need to stop the

:30:27. > :30:32.gaps out why. The Australians are a really efficient team and they know

:30:33. > :30:40.how to play. When somebody does not stop Thurston on that last play, it

:30:41. > :30:47.is a try. They will get you. This is a kick off and look where they have

:30:48. > :30:59.got to. Not a bad place to finish, but not quite what he would have

:31:00. > :31:08.wanted. The Kiwis are desperate for a lift. You sense the crowd are

:31:09. > :31:20.urging it as well. They are firing their big cannons. Kieran Foran has

:31:21. > :31:27.been impressive. They have closed him down on the sidelines. They want

:31:28. > :31:53.a very good finish. Johnson puts it high and Slater is

:31:54. > :31:59.underneath it. He was off the ground when he was tackled and they are

:32:00. > :32:06.claiming a penalty. They are making that kick just inside their own

:32:07. > :32:20.half, so there is no pressure. Their possession and territory, 61 and 39.

:32:21. > :32:25.That just says it all, really. We are all thrilled at the way

:32:26. > :32:31.Australia are playing. This team can defend as well. They have not

:32:32. > :32:46.conceded a point. One penalty against Fiji. 356 minutes since they

:32:47. > :32:52.last conceded a try in a World Cup turn on. I do not know what to say.

:32:53. > :33:02.They are good. You have got to be really good to beat them. They will

:33:03. > :33:08.get you on your small play. That is six hours of tackling and tackling

:33:09. > :33:14.and not conceding a try. That is a lot of extra time. Look how many

:33:15. > :33:22.people are running with him. There are three men on the outside. You

:33:23. > :33:26.cannot come off your man. On that occasion Greg Inglis is through. It

:33:27. > :33:34.is very difficult to stop this Australian side. Johnathan Thurston

:33:35. > :33:39.has kicked three out of three so far today. This is a significant moment

:33:40. > :33:46.because it is a two scorer lead at the moment. If New Zealand got two

:33:47. > :33:50.tries and converted them both, it would be all square. If he kicks

:33:51. > :34:01.this, suddenly New Zealand are looking at a three scorer try. Where

:34:02. > :34:04.are they meant the -- mentally? They are trying to play an Australian

:34:05. > :34:10.type of game. They have got to offload, you have got to throw

:34:11. > :34:21.something different at Australia. If you play them at their own game,

:34:22. > :34:26.they will nail you. I thought New Zealand would take the game to the

:34:27. > :34:36.Australian forwards. That has not been the case. Watch this off the

:34:37. > :34:46.ball incident. Because they have had so much control possession, the

:34:47. > :34:52.kicking has been so good. The Kiwis have not stamped their authority on

:34:53. > :34:58.this game. We have not seen much of Sonny Bill Williams so far in this

:34:59. > :35:17.game. The Australians are simply in complete control.

:35:18. > :35:37.He is knocked on. New Zealand get a lift. They needed that. A bit of

:35:38. > :35:49.luck. Yes, the foot is in. The lucky break that they wanted. Billy will

:35:50. > :35:55.be hoping after five years, when people remember the past that he

:35:56. > :35:59.threw it away. He will be hoping people will be saying remember that

:36:00. > :36:06.try he scored in the World Cup final? But New Zealand have the

:36:07. > :36:34.ability to counterpunch. We know that.

:36:35. > :36:47.Suddenly the noise level is lifting around Old Trafford. Five kangaroos

:36:48. > :36:54.were waiting for him. A great defence. Look at that. What a

:36:55. > :37:00.defensive effort. It was like he looked up and suddenly thought,

:37:01. > :37:09.where have my mates gone? Look at the numbers. Six green jumpers have

:37:10. > :37:15.barrelled him out. He had no chance. He did not know, he thought he was

:37:16. > :37:25.scoring. Should they have stepped in and made another few plays? I think

:37:26. > :38:01.he should have stepped inside. Australia are WordPerfect so far.

:38:02. > :38:11.Australia are keeping the ball close. This will be the final play

:38:12. > :38:20.of the first half. The hooter sounds at half-time. How good was that from

:38:21. > :38:26.the side in green and gold? Pretty impressive, very efficient, very

:38:27. > :38:31.clinical. They defended supremely well. The Kiwis have to find an

:38:32. > :38:41.answer. They are 40 minutes away from not retaining their trophy. A

:38:42. > :38:46.fantastic first half performance by the Aussies. New Zealand have to

:38:47. > :38:52.come from behind. How are they going to do it? Let's hear from Cameron

:38:53. > :38:59.Smith, the captain. You must be really pleased with that first half.

:39:00. > :39:04.Yes, it was. We had a simple game plan today, to run hard and make

:39:05. > :39:10.sure we got the tackles in. A pleasing defensive effort. To keep

:39:11. > :39:17.them down to only to point it is pretty good, but we will need a

:39:18. > :39:23.bigger effort in the second half. We are here with Kieran Foran. A

:39:24. > :39:28.difficult half? We have got to get back to winning the ground and

:39:29. > :39:34.slowing them down. How do you stick with the Aussies when they are in

:39:35. > :39:39.that mood? It is hard. They are winning the ground at the moment,

:39:40. > :39:45.they are playing off quick play and winning the ball. We have got to

:39:46. > :39:51.slow them down and hopefully make more of a ground game. All the best

:39:52. > :39:56.in the second half. Jon Wilkin talking to the players. What a

:39:57. > :40:12.dominant half that has been for Australia. They lead by 16-2. They

:40:13. > :40:21.had 63% of the possession. Sam Burges, they have been dominant.

:40:22. > :40:27.They have been very clinical and they have kept the ball in play. It

:40:28. > :40:31.is going to be very hard for the Kiwis to win with that amount of

:40:32. > :40:38.ball, but full credit to the Aussies. JP pointed out a few times,

:40:39. > :40:46.that Thurston's kicking game is good. You are like a Mystic Meg. You

:40:47. > :40:50.see how things are going to work and that is exactly what happens.

:40:51. > :40:54.Australia's kicking game has been crucial. Yes, you need an accurate

:40:55. > :41:05.kicking game. That is how you win games, with a

:41:06. > :41:12.great kick and chase. They have starved them of possession. You will

:41:13. > :41:20.see Cameron Smith with a great kick again into the corner. His partner

:41:21. > :41:24.in crime is chasing. We saw them before in the build-up. Thurston is

:41:25. > :41:29.chasing hard and they force a goal-line dropout because it leads

:41:30. > :41:34.eventually to a try. It leads to pressure and they get another set of

:41:35. > :41:41.six. Cooper Cronk with a great kick again. But what Jamie is pointed out

:41:42. > :41:49.is it is not one person doing kicking, it is different players.

:41:50. > :41:56.That is a problem for the Kiwis. It is a problem for the Kiwis. It is

:41:57. > :42:00.kicking pressure. There is not enough intensity getting to the guy

:42:01. > :42:05.kicking the ball and the reality is there are a number of different

:42:06. > :42:08.players who can do that. Who are you looking at? When you are in the

:42:09. > :42:13.middle of the park and you make a few tackles, you are trying to

:42:14. > :42:21.think, sometimes you can get away from the script a little bit. Let's

:42:22. > :42:27.start with Billy Slater's try. He is back and he has proved his fitness.

:42:28. > :42:32.It is a team effort to defend this and the big guys let them down a bit

:42:33. > :42:40.here. It is a great kick from Thurston. Slater is up there to take

:42:41. > :42:44.the ball. It is a great score for Australia. This is what separates

:42:45. > :42:56.the sides, the ability to score from kicks. They are always kicking from

:42:57. > :43:03.the front foot and it is easy. Cooper Cronk had one disallowed. The

:43:04. > :43:07.second time it was allowed. And some great lead up play by the

:43:08. > :43:19.Australians. They are a bit tired at the moment. The ball went out the

:43:20. > :43:26.back and they got the overlap in the numbers. Cooper Cronk is back in the

:43:27. > :43:31.middle. We saw Issac Luke trip and fall a little bit. But did you see

:43:32. > :43:35.the amount of Australians poring through? New Zealand should have got

:43:36. > :43:40.back there in numbers. There should have been an intensity there. Their

:43:41. > :43:46.energy levels are starting to drop because they have had to do so much

:43:47. > :43:52.tackling. On Issac Luke stopping Cooper Cronk for the try that was

:43:53. > :43:57.not given. That was fantastic. He showed a great desire to stop the

:43:58. > :44:02.try. Not stopping until the final missal -- whistle. Often things like

:44:03. > :44:14.this can lift a team to get back in the game. It got Robbie going. It

:44:15. > :44:17.does not take much! It is a great individual effort. I am sure they

:44:18. > :44:23.will be disappointed in the dressing room. In the World Cup final I

:44:24. > :44:29.thought we would get more energy and a bit more from the Kiwis. Let's

:44:30. > :44:39.hope they step it up. Stephen Kearney is giving them a good

:44:40. > :44:43.talking to. It is the kicking with Cameron Smith, and his ability to

:44:44. > :44:51.control the game. He is like a little general out there. The Kiwis

:44:52. > :44:58.have not used the ball enough to see the best of eyes that look. I think

:44:59. > :45:08.the Aussies have controlled the Kiwis after the kicks. They make the

:45:09. > :45:15.first three tackles in sets. They have made more tackles. They have

:45:16. > :45:25.defended very well. The Aussies have got a real emphasis on controlling

:45:26. > :45:31.plays one and two and three. I want to show display here. It's a nice

:45:32. > :45:36.shape, they didn't quite executed, you see the two runners, I think the

:45:37. > :45:46.play is supposed to be designed to turn the fullback out the back and

:45:47. > :45:53.have a 31. You see this from Australia, defusing try scoring

:45:54. > :46:01.opportunities. You can't tell me that Australia aren't motivated by

:46:02. > :46:06.2008, come on the! I reckon Vatuvei was dragged over the try-line, that

:46:07. > :46:15.was a penalty for me. But you are impartial? Definitely! Despite the

:46:16. > :46:20.black and white bow tie and hanky! This tournament has been special for

:46:21. > :46:28.all sorts of reasons, one of them being that it is the BBC's voice of

:46:29. > :46:37.rugby league last tournament. We will to him in a moment. -- talk to

:46:38. > :46:41.him. I think the game has to be obtaining, and it is my job to bring

:46:42. > :46:58.out the entertainment as well. That is a sensational try, it must

:46:59. > :47:05.rank among the finest ever seen on this ground! Was and did Shakespeare

:47:06. > :47:11.who said, good league one would always beat a good little one, if he

:47:12. > :47:15.was alive today, he would say that about these Australians. I certainly

:47:16. > :47:24.wouldn't like to meet him in a dark street. The personality that has

:47:25. > :47:30.always been on the telly, I know he has links with my high school,

:47:31. > :47:38.probably given my dad became! -- the cane. People like him because he's

:47:39. > :47:47.that kind of man, he has been in the game for a long time, we will miss

:47:48. > :47:52.him. Thanks for all the memories and the commentator, which always makes

:47:53. > :47:53.me smile. For me, the best commentator in rugby league ever.

:47:54. > :48:05.Sheer class! We are all smiling. You have made us

:48:06. > :48:09.all smile. But what you said at the top of that peace is so true, there

:48:10. > :48:15.is humour in the game and it has to be entertaining. It has. You have

:48:16. > :48:22.got to have humour as a commentator, you can have so many statistics and

:48:23. > :48:25.facts, but they only go so far, the audience like little stories, I

:48:26. > :48:31.dotes about players, people and so on. I think there is great humour

:48:32. > :48:35.and camaraderie between the players in the game and stop here, they're

:48:36. > :48:41.knocking hell out of each other but you will see everyone in a different

:48:42. > :48:45.mood when the whistle goes. That's right, they do not eat other about

:48:46. > :48:55.but there is also a respect and humour. Without doubt. The players

:48:56. > :49:00.playing today require what -- know what is required, but after the

:49:01. > :49:05.match, there are a lot of friendships out of the game, it's

:49:06. > :49:15.great to watch. With all of your knowledge and history of the game,

:49:16. > :49:18.what have you made this tournament? It's been a fantastic tournament,

:49:19. > :49:20.great advert for the game. It's been terrifically supported. Where the

:49:21. > :49:27.game has really caught the imagination is lower down the these

:49:28. > :49:33.levels, the USA, cook islands, Fiji, Tonga, Italy, great nations coming

:49:34. > :49:40.through, where the game is now being played. It brought a little romance

:49:41. > :49:45.to the tournament. The best one I have seen and I've seen the lot.

:49:46. > :49:50.Now, those teams who have started to come through, they need to continue

:49:51. > :49:55.to be encouraged and invited to play international fixtures.

:49:56. > :50:00.International sport is the be all and end all of any sport. We have

:50:01. > :50:07.home Nations rugby union, athletics with the Olympic Games, and rugby

:50:08. > :50:12.league really has got to get back to the days when it was fit and strong

:50:13. > :50:19.at international level. We have to get an Ashes series, a Lions tour.

:50:20. > :50:22.My greatest memories were playing for England and Great Britain

:50:23. > :50:24.against Australia, against New Zealand, playing against the

:50:25. > :50:29.different nations is a fantastic thing, the pinnacle for any

:50:30. > :50:36.sportsman or sportswoman. The more chances you get to do that in rugby

:50:37. > :50:39.league, the better. I would agree, out of all of us who have played at

:50:40. > :50:42.international level, the reason we got into playing sport in the first

:50:43. > :50:48.place was to present our countries. It wasn't to become a professional

:50:49. > :50:53.sportsman, you had to do that to represent your country. As a kid, I

:50:54. > :51:00.ramble watching the international games, growing up, so it's great, I

:51:01. > :51:06.hope the tournament has inspired a few young kids to get out there and

:51:07. > :51:11.play for England, in the next series or whatever tournaments are coming

:51:12. > :51:18.up. That was I wanted to do. And we all listened to you! Showing my age!

:51:19. > :51:24.Anyway, you have media, marketing and sponsorship and that of is what

:51:25. > :51:27.the game is about off the pitch. International sport brings those

:51:28. > :51:37.three. Club rugby can only take it so far. We need to go on another

:51:38. > :51:40.level. Who will win this? Australia, New Zealand looked overawed, you

:51:41. > :51:45.wouldn't believe they were the world champions. They have let the

:51:46. > :51:51.Australians do what they want with them. I am disappointed, they spoke

:51:52. > :51:58.about in disciplined but you do need that passion and that emotion. When

:51:59. > :52:05.he says passion, somebody upfront news to smack somebody. -- needs to.

:52:06. > :52:15.Let's go back to our commentators. How about that throwaway line, this

:52:16. > :52:22.is the best will I have seen, and I've seen the light! Second half on

:52:23. > :52:29.the way, is the green and gold steam roller going to carry on inexorably

:52:30. > :52:32.towards the world title? The one they have been denied since the year

:52:33. > :52:39.2000, when they won it on this ground. They are winning the kicking

:52:40. > :52:42.game, they are winning on the ground, they need to pick their

:52:43. > :52:49.intensity up, New Zealand. If they don't score next, this game is over.

:52:50. > :52:52.Australia have played it terrifically efficiently so far,

:52:53. > :52:56.they have done exactly what needs to be done. But New Zealand have to

:52:57. > :53:05.find a way of upsetting their rhythm.

:53:06. > :53:14.And Billy Slater is loving this World Cup final! All the bad

:53:15. > :53:19.memories disappear as a second try for Billy the kid, right from the

:53:20. > :53:26.start of the second half, Australia stamp their authority on the game

:53:27. > :53:32.again. Somebody mentioned it in the studio, saying the Kiwis look

:53:33. > :53:41.overawed, and it's true. This is the first in an Slater axis, --

:53:42. > :53:46.Thurston. Boyd to Slater on the inside, that is just the smartness

:53:47. > :53:53.of that Queens land access down the left-hand side. Leaving a mark on

:53:54. > :54:02.the floor, I think it was Shaun Johnson, left down there. That's

:54:03. > :54:11.maybe why they are a number down. Again, Australia exploited it of the

:54:12. > :54:16.numbers. We know that New Zealand can raise it on the big occasion,

:54:17. > :54:22.the question is, how much did last week take out of them as of today? I

:54:23. > :54:25.think it did. I mentioned it at the top of the show, it was a brutal

:54:26. > :54:32.game last week, and absolutely fabulous game but physically, so

:54:33. > :54:38.demanding. Our question over Australia was whether they would be

:54:39. > :54:43.underdone, they are clearly not. They are so clinical, they spot

:54:44. > :55:11.opportunities. Then they just execute them full

:55:12. > :55:20.They go down the short side, he is isolated on his own, no centre

:55:21. > :55:27.there. Billy Slater makes the extra number, brilliant awareness.

:55:28. > :55:32.Half-time team talks may be written off but I wonder what they did say

:55:33. > :55:39.at half-time. The New Zealand one was, get control of the tackles,

:55:40. > :55:45.slow down the play. That didn't look like it was coming into play,

:55:46. > :55:49.Australia said they had to match the intensity of New Zealand, they were

:55:50. > :55:50.expecting them to come at them hard. Run hard, tackle hard and that will

:55:51. > :56:32.do the business. It is not played out, the referee

:56:33. > :56:38.says, so New Zealand are allowed position. They need something to go

:56:39. > :56:46.their way. Just a spark of inspiration to bring this game back.

:56:47. > :56:53.They have to score a minimum of four tries to win this World Cup, New

:56:54. > :56:56.Zealand. And they need to not have Australia score again. Great tackle,

:56:57. > :57:10.great tackle. I have been very disappointed with

:57:11. > :57:15.the Kiwi forward, last week against England, England took it to them and

:57:16. > :57:23.they responded. Today it hasn't happened. Foran put it high, Slater

:57:24. > :57:28.went higher still. The thing about the Aussies, they will not stop,

:57:29. > :57:31.they will go to the final whistle. They will look at opportunities and

:57:32. > :58:07.when they come, they will finish you off.

:58:08. > :58:12.There is confusion among the New Zealand defenders, the ball luckily

:58:13. > :58:17.from their point of view has gone backwards and Foran is the one who

:58:18. > :58:22.took it safely enough. There is your theory about kicking to Vatuvei, but

:58:23. > :58:28.I disagree with this, we have looked at the Kiwis's previous shape, what

:58:29. > :58:34.they have forgotten to do is run and play it out from the back. It is

:58:35. > :58:42.easy for the Australian defenders to flood into the New Zealand line.

:58:43. > :58:50.Look at that chase, the pressure is on. Not a bad kick in the

:58:51. > :58:56.circumstances from Johnson. When you are down like that committee need

:58:57. > :59:04.more than that from your set. Self-doubt, maybe? But that's the

:59:05. > :59:08.element of the Test match, last week England and New Zealand, the

:59:09. > :59:17.microscope is on you, that is why they are called test matches. They

:59:18. > :59:21.will test you. It is clearly a strategy, a lot of green and gold

:59:22. > :59:27.jumpers through on Vatuvei. Every part of your facet as a player is

:59:28. > :59:29.tested against Australia. They have just done the simple things a lot

:59:30. > :59:44.better. Terrific character, Cameron Smith.

:59:45. > :59:51.Australia, moving ominously towards the halfway line again.

:59:52. > :00:00.Making their mark in this game. History is being rewritten. It's a

:00:01. > :00:22.World Cup that's moving back to Australia.

:00:23. > :00:32.But the tackle is good. That is a good tackle. They have really

:00:33. > :00:44.targeted Kieran Foran and Johnson. They have tested them. Slater does

:00:45. > :00:51.not look fit! A really important point made by Tim Sheens before the

:00:52. > :00:55.game. Billy Slater, he is not just a wonderful player with a ball in his

:00:56. > :01:03.hand, he is not just a wonderful defender, he coaches his team. I

:01:04. > :01:09.think especially in this squad the fullback can see everything. He is

:01:10. > :01:15.the pair of eyes for the whole team. He can push and pull players off

:01:16. > :01:20.sensibly and defensively. He can alter the kicking game. That is why

:01:21. > :01:29.he is the best fullback in the world. He does those little extra

:01:30. > :01:40.things. Australia for the time being penned inside their own 20. But not

:01:41. > :01:46.for long. Some Friday looks as if he is difficult to tackle. He is a

:01:47. > :02:14.fabulous player. Bash Sam Thaiday. They are being suffocated in rugby

:02:15. > :02:18.league terms, New Zealand. You have not seen the forward taking the ball

:02:19. > :02:28.in. Sonny Bill Williams is trying his best. He is getting to the first

:02:29. > :02:34.receiver. He has off-loaded accidentally and that was stolen

:02:35. > :02:41.from him. The penalty goes his way. Can they set up a car? Can they get

:02:42. > :02:50.a toehold back in this game? The need for themselves. They needed a

:02:51. > :02:58.result, they needed a penalty. They have got field position. Run first,

:02:59. > :03:06.do not worry about your shape and your structure. Put a dent in the

:03:07. > :03:13.line. The Canterbury prop. It is another big fellow, Hargreaves. But

:03:14. > :03:22.Australia are tough on defence as well. Isaac Luke is running it and

:03:23. > :03:32.having a go. But they are covered in green and gold. Kevin looked at

:03:33. > :03:37.options on the outside, but it has gone on the inside. Mannering, it

:03:38. > :03:51.has gone close, but not close enough.

:03:52. > :04:00.Again not quite the contact you would have wanted. Again he is the

:04:01. > :04:06.only kicker, said the pressure the Australians put on him, the quality

:04:07. > :04:12.of the kick is not good enough. They needed to get good field position

:04:13. > :04:18.and bang it out. I think Kevin Loche has two come in and help him a bit.

:04:19. > :04:49.He is not doing enough. There is far too much pressure on Johnson.

:04:50. > :05:02.But he is hurt. He collided with the advertising hoardings. This was a

:05:03. > :05:05.concern before the game began. There was an urgency amongst Australia to

:05:06. > :05:15.get padding around the edge of the picture. Brett Morris hit that

:05:16. > :05:20.hoarding at some pace. In the meantime, is this a try or not?

:05:21. > :05:41.Offside or on-site being the question. -- onside.

:05:42. > :05:54.REFEREE: Just run it through now. I am happy with that. The ball is

:05:55. > :06:07.tapped and everyone is on site. Go to the grounding. The ball is in the

:06:08. > :06:21.air, his hands are on the ball and he brings it down to the ground

:06:22. > :06:30.cleanly and it will be a try. Very often he gets ignored, but he

:06:31. > :06:36.can finish, Brett Morris. There are a few doubts as to who is going to

:06:37. > :06:45.be lifting that trophy at the end of the day. They spot the overlap and

:06:46. > :06:50.there is a magical off-loaded. There he goes, the winger comes in. He

:06:51. > :06:57.knows he is not going to make it. There is the kick. Tap, kick, try.

:06:58. > :07:10.They do the basics exceptionally well. Oh, dear. It is all right you

:07:11. > :07:19.laughing, he hurt himself. He is all right now. Jon Wilkin has thoughts

:07:20. > :07:23.on the sidelines. If you look at the Australian team it suffocates the

:07:24. > :07:29.opposition. It tightens its grip on the opposition. That is what they

:07:30. > :07:33.are doing now. They are suffocating their opposition. That is why they

:07:34. > :07:45.are at the world's best rugby league team. What animal was he talking

:07:46. > :07:53.about? A boa constrictor. Do they get many of them in Saint Helens?

:07:54. > :08:02.There might be a few in Hull. I thought it was a rugby league World

:08:03. > :08:15.Cup final, not animal magic? There he goes again, six out of six. 28

:08:16. > :08:25.for Australia. Not unexpected, really. Great skill from Josh

:08:26. > :08:31.Papalii. It is the understanding of the situation. Morris kicks and

:08:32. > :08:37.there is support from the inside and support from the outside. It is

:08:38. > :08:44.going to take something of a rugby league miracle for New Zealand to

:08:45. > :08:50.find their way back. There is a lot of time and the Aussies will not

:08:51. > :08:59.stop. Plenty of sparkle and shine still to come. The doctor is saying

:09:00. > :09:05.Brett Morris were live, but they are not happy. They say he took the

:09:06. > :09:12.brickwork out and they say it is not good enough, the in-goal area.

:09:13. > :09:14.They said they were concerned before because of the tightness of the area

:09:15. > :09:41.at Old Trafford. Morris was a cross to make the

:09:42. > :09:46.tackle. Pride to be restored, that is the first requirement from the

:09:47. > :09:51.side in black. They are trying to make this a contest. They have never

:09:52. > :10:09.been in this contest since the first Billy Slater try in the 20th minute.

:10:10. > :10:11.Greg Bird is a good player. He put his arms around his neck like a boa

:10:12. > :10:30.constrictor! A lovely little touch by Sonny Bill

:10:31. > :10:37.Williams. We have not seen too much of him in this final. The

:10:38. > :10:39.Australians making sure that the New Zealand team have had little to say

:10:40. > :11:00.in this contest. Australia's line is holding strong,

:11:01. > :11:12.and they have one more tackle to complete. That was Myles too deep

:11:13. > :11:24.and it is New Zealand's turn this time to be trapped in that area and

:11:25. > :11:35.find a bit of pain. That is Vatuvei. The kick was a bit too far. Again

:11:36. > :11:46.the execution of the final tackle. Oh, that is nasty. The kick was a

:11:47. > :11:51.bit too far. We have seen Grand Finals and the players skidding out

:11:52. > :11:58.of the area and into the hardest trough beyond. I wondered this is

:11:59. > :12:36.something the legal authorities might want to pick up on.

:12:37. > :12:45.Australia efficiently and inexorably moving inside the news island half

:12:46. > :12:52.again. What the inside support. They know he is going wide and he is

:12:53. > :13:02.going to make the inside kick and they will pick it up. They have just

:13:03. > :13:17.got methodical. Go forward, go forward, a little bit of space and

:13:18. > :13:27.kick. I have got Robbie Farah with me, is it just about seeing this

:13:28. > :13:32.game out? Yes, we have just got to shut them out and not let them

:13:33. > :13:39.score. In the last five games we have shown we are the best defensive

:13:40. > :13:46.side in this competition. You are allowed to celebrate now. Yes, five

:13:47. > :13:54.years ago and tonight and we are going to celebrate tonight. Six

:13:55. > :14:04.hours and 20 minutes since they last conceded a try. Josh Charnley in the

:14:05. > :14:10.opening game at England was the last time Australia's line was breached.

:14:11. > :14:24.They conceded a penalty against Fiji and a penalty against New Zealand.

:14:25. > :14:33.They are absolutely cutting them to pieces. It is not just a question of

:14:34. > :14:39.physicality, but it is psychology now. I thought New Zealand would

:14:40. > :14:46.struggle in the last 20 minutes after last week's effort against

:14:47. > :14:53.England. But the Aussies have shown us the prowess in game management

:14:54. > :14:58.and how to play the game. The Kiwis struggled for the first 60 minutes,

:14:59. > :15:12.so this last 20 minutes might be tough for them. There is no going

:15:13. > :15:15.forward. It is very easy for the Australian defence. They have

:15:16. > :15:22.totally dominated the tackle area today. They are going to come

:15:23. > :15:42.inside, the touchline is there. Total domination. Look at the

:15:43. > :15:47.statistics. Tackle completion, 97%! The Kiwis are leading that.

:15:48. > :16:23.Australia come forward again. A crunching effort. By Sam Cash

:16:24. > :16:30.Arnot. But Australia, poised just at the moment. It came off the shins of

:16:31. > :16:39.Darren Boyd. Sam, you have to play against these

:16:40. > :16:47.boys week in, week out, how impressed have you been? They have

:16:48. > :16:51.been very good, very clinical. I have been very impressed with

:16:52. > :16:56.Cameron Smith and Thurston, the game is getting in front of them a little

:16:57. > :17:18.bit, they are staying very composed and clinical in taking chances.

:17:19. > :17:43.He has knocked on. A very difficult ball to take, though. That's the

:17:44. > :17:55.first time they have really put pressure on Billy Slater.

:17:56. > :18:06.They are having a look at it. The referee has offered this to the

:18:07. > :18:19.video referee just to make sure. Knock-on to Australia. Comes off

:18:20. > :18:26.Billy Slater's hands. Ten metres away from that Australian line.

:18:27. > :18:42.Pressure on the Aussies, they will not want to concede a try.

:18:43. > :18:48.A cluster of defenders around Bromwich, puts him on his act. The

:18:49. > :18:55.Aussie defensive line is ready again.

:18:56. > :19:46.It is a desperate kick in the end. It will bounce back into the hands

:19:47. > :19:52.of Billy Slater, the Australian defensive line has done its job

:19:53. > :19:56.again. This is sensational defence from the Australians, it's one of

:19:57. > :20:01.the best individually offensive outfits there is in world rugby,

:20:02. > :20:09.with the off-loading prowess they possess, say you have to take your

:20:10. > :20:14.hat 's off to the Australian team. It's not only defensively, they have

:20:15. > :20:18.done everything so clinical, just getting the ball away, the kicking

:20:19. > :20:26.game, the options, when they take the ball up. It's just been a

:20:27. > :20:30.brilliant, brilliant performance. The game may be a bit flat and it's

:20:31. > :20:35.because they have absolutely dominated everything. It has been a

:20:36. > :20:41.tournament of a million memorable moments. One of the greatest games

:20:42. > :20:44.of all time last weekend at Wembley, England against New

:20:45. > :20:51.Zealand. We fat heretics from Italy and the USA. -- we have had heroics.

:20:52. > :20:59.But the masterclass has been left for them very last game. This is how

:21:00. > :21:13.you play rugby league! The opportunity was created by very

:21:14. > :21:52.slick hands, and there was a man over.

:21:53. > :22:17.Straight to an Australian, nobody with him. That just says it all. No

:22:18. > :22:59.one is running with him. They want another six, they get

:23:00. > :23:00.another six. The referee says it was touched by a New Zealand player. So

:23:01. > :23:16.the set starts from here. Solid, straight up the middle. You

:23:17. > :23:18.can tackle me if you want but there's going to be a big effort on

:23:19. > :23:34.your behalf! Let's have a look. You can't do

:23:35. > :23:56.that. New Zealand, looking to create

:23:57. > :25:01.something. He can see how close he is to the

:25:02. > :25:25.line, Jarryd Hayne. Straight into the hands of Isaac

:25:26. > :25:38.Luke! Very nearly gave it back again.

:25:39. > :25:47.I think last weekend has taken quite a bit of a toll on New Zealand. They

:25:48. > :25:54.haven't given you a sniff today, have they? One or two errors all

:25:55. > :25:57.game, we have made a fair few more than that. They have been well

:25:58. > :26:01.disciplined, haven't given us many penalties, it is disappointing it

:26:02. > :26:07.wasn't the spectacle it could have been. But Australia have stuck to

:26:08. > :26:14.their game plan and played really well.

:26:15. > :26:20.He has given it away, here comes Jarryd Hayne!

:26:21. > :26:28.That was a great tackle, a try saving tackle, had to be made. I

:26:29. > :26:50.think he has hurt himself, as well. It's hard to undersell how good a

:26:51. > :26:57.performance this has been from Australia today. It's not in the

:26:58. > :27:01.absolute classic we craved today but we consider back and per at how well

:27:02. > :27:11.the Australians have played. Five years ago there was talk about

:27:12. > :27:15.that Australian line-up as being the best ever. That kind of talk hasn't

:27:16. > :27:22.really resurfaced this time around. Billy Slater has knocked that on in

:27:23. > :27:53.full flight. In his dotage, when they say, do you

:27:54. > :28:03.remember that World Cup final? He has won to smile about. He might

:28:04. > :28:11.still sneak a hat-trick. He is looking to get the hat-trick.

:28:12. > :28:19.New Zealand want to break this Australian resistance. The green and

:28:20. > :28:28.gold are fuelled by the pride that they do not give tries away. Still

:28:29. > :28:29.they come in impressive numbers in defence. There is not a gap to be

:28:30. > :28:43.had so far. Given it away, Jarryd Hayne runs

:28:44. > :28:56.away from the defence! And Morris will cap it all off.

:28:57. > :29:04.Australia, the world champions again. His brace! Australia have

:29:05. > :29:22.simply been superb. Sonny Bill Williams has tried

:29:23. > :29:26.everything, there is nobody who has played better for New Zealand, he

:29:27. > :29:31.throws the miracle pass, it's intercepted, but the support play

:29:32. > :29:38.from the winner is William. He has done everything, Sonny Bill. He

:29:39. > :29:46.tries to releases outside backs, I think it is foreign leaders and

:29:47. > :29:51.find. Just try to get the one opportunity, a great run from all

:29:52. > :30:02.the Kiwi cover backs, but he is too quick for them there. That is great

:30:03. > :30:11.of the ball support will stop --. Jarryd Hayne 's's World Cup five

:30:12. > :30:14.years ago was as a Fijian. A lot of people say that was the making of

:30:15. > :30:33.him on and off the field, that World Cup. His kicking four goal has been

:30:34. > :30:51.perfect today. He collects himself. Never any

:30:52. > :30:57.pressure on his kicking at all. Seven out of seven, 14 points

:30:58. > :31:02.personally. As the sun sets over this fantastic rugby league World

:31:03. > :31:12.Cup it is another huge crowd that sees us off. 74,468 at Old Trafford.

:31:13. > :31:27.It is a world record rugby league international attendance. Australia

:31:28. > :31:39.and New Zealand on foreign soil. DAVIES: As you said, a fantastic

:31:40. > :31:45.performance. All they have to do now is go for this next five and a half

:31:46. > :31:55.minutes without conceding a try. The man of the match is Johnathan

:31:56. > :31:58.Thurston. It could have been a number of people. The Australian

:31:59. > :32:19.hand off. John Wilkin, what are you saying?

:32:20. > :32:25.The Australian performance has been exceptional. The spine of the team

:32:26. > :32:29.have controlled the ball well, as you see here from Johnathan

:32:30. > :32:40.Thurston. They gave direction to the Australian side. I have never seen a

:32:41. > :32:44.side defend with desperation. But they are still defending with that

:32:45. > :33:02.intensity. A truly impressive display from the world champions.

:33:03. > :33:07.Four and a half minutes. Some warhorses in that picture. Some of

:33:08. > :33:17.them have been there and done that. Cameron Smith and Greg Bird and Paul

:33:18. > :33:21.Gallen and Johnathan Thurston. The Queensland and New South Wales

:33:22. > :33:22.fixtures every year are probably the toughest rugby league football on

:33:23. > :33:46.the planet. Tim Sheens is winning the cup back

:33:47. > :33:54.today as the Australian coach. It is not often you get a smile out of

:33:55. > :34:03.him. I think Kieran Foran has played well. Look where they are kicking

:34:04. > :34:14.from, just inside the halfway line. That is not an attacking kick. Billy

:34:15. > :34:39.Slater is not fit. Good defensive work by the New

:34:40. > :35:06.Zealand skipper. He has lost that. A moment of glory

:35:07. > :35:14.for Grant Atkins in the World Cup final. He drew the referee's

:35:15. > :35:19.attention to the moment. Two minutes for Australia to hang onto this

:35:20. > :35:28.record, consecutive games without conceding a try. It is an amazing

:35:29. > :35:33.feeling to be this far in front and two enjoyed the match. How often do

:35:34. > :35:37.you get to enjoy a momentous occasion like this? They have been

:35:38. > :35:44.enjoying the last 15 minutes I think! And they are not letting up

:35:45. > :35:52.at all with the intensity in defence. They are desperate to

:35:53. > :36:00.maintain busy road tries. Even in the first line of six it showed what

:36:01. > :36:02.they meant today. Their line speed was intense. Their defensive line

:36:03. > :36:22.speed is brilliant. They will have another set to

:36:23. > :36:36.defend. New Zealand have a set of six. That is good player as well. He

:36:37. > :36:41.just patted it into touch. Knowing that his team-mates know how to

:36:42. > :36:48.tackle! I do not think there is going to be time for the full set of

:36:49. > :36:54.six. They might get for Mac tackles in that most here. That they might

:36:55. > :37:17.get for tackles in. Sonny Bill Williams knocked that on

:37:18. > :37:22.and that might be the end of it. The Australians congratulate each other.

:37:23. > :37:30.It is a question of running down the clock. The referee is not going to

:37:31. > :37:35.stop it. New Zealand are not bothered. Now the hooter sounds on

:37:36. > :37:40.Australian redemption. They got their world crown back again and

:37:41. > :37:46.deservedly so. Underneath the radar for much of this World Cup

:37:47. > :37:50.tournament. Tested by England in the very first game, but since then

:37:51. > :38:01.their dominance has been total, including in this final. They are

:38:02. > :38:05.winners by 32-2. They bossed every facet of play. I thought they would

:38:06. > :38:12.struggle against the bigger New Zealand pack. But they trusted in

:38:13. > :38:18.the simple things. I thought there'd kicking was immense. With Smith,

:38:19. > :38:24.Cronk and Thurston they did not know who to close down. When the chances

:38:25. > :38:30.came they took them. I have not seen such a one-sided performance for a

:38:31. > :38:34.long time. What a time to pull it out of the bag. A fantastic team

:38:35. > :38:42.effort. Thoroughly deserved winners, Australia. But desolation from New

:38:43. > :38:49.Zealand. Let's hear from the winning coach, Tim Sheens who is with Tanya.

:38:50. > :38:56.Congratulations, how proud are you of this team? Extremely proud. We

:38:57. > :39:02.came out in front of a great crowd and I thought we performed really

:39:03. > :39:08.well. Our defence was great and our attitude was perfect.

:39:09. > :39:15.Congratulations to New Zealand. They pushed us to the foreword by their

:39:16. > :39:20.game. Even at the end you did not want to concede a try. We did not

:39:21. > :39:26.start the game thinking that, but by 20 minutes to go we thought of that

:39:27. > :39:30.and to their credit they dug in. You have achieved so much in your

:39:31. > :39:35.career, but what does it mean to coach this site to be world

:39:36. > :39:41.champions? I have not had a chance to think about it yet, but it is a

:39:42. > :39:46.great privilege. Did you dream of this or why you so focused on the

:39:47. > :39:52.tournament? You do not count on anything until the siren goes, but

:39:53. > :39:59.we are very pleased and relieved. I know you said five years ago was

:40:00. > :40:08.history, but it is nice to call yourselves world champions again,

:40:09. > :40:12.isn't it? Sure it is. He makes his way back off to his celebrating

:40:13. > :40:19.players. It was a comprehensive win for Australia. 34-2. You have to go

:40:20. > :40:25.back to that first game against England for the last time a side

:40:26. > :40:34.scored a try against them, which is a phenomenal record. Yes, and great

:40:35. > :40:43.for the team. It is a cracking result. People might say it is a

:40:44. > :40:48.great challenge, but they still had to defend the line. They performed

:40:49. > :40:54.very well today. People might say New Zealand were off their game, but

:40:55. > :41:00.the Aussies did that to them. The man of the match is with Tanya.

:41:01. > :41:05.Congratulations on a man of the match performance and you are a

:41:06. > :41:10.world champion. Thank you, it is a dream come true. It has been a long

:41:11. > :41:16.six weeks. To win a World Cup with your best mates does not get any

:41:17. > :41:22.better. It was an incredible performance, you looked so focused.

:41:23. > :41:28.We have been building towards it and that was our main focus, to be here

:41:29. > :41:32.at the end in the World Cup. Every week we kept on improving and our

:41:33. > :41:39.defence was rock solid and that is what we build our game on. You said

:41:40. > :41:43.before this match would not define you as players, but if you could

:41:44. > :41:50.look each other in the eyes, you would be happy. You can do that!

:41:51. > :41:55.Yes, it is a dream come true. We have worked so hard as a team. To be

:41:56. > :42:01.here at the end and to win the World Cup with your best mate does not get

:42:02. > :42:20.any better. What is tonight going to be like? It is going to be a big few

:42:21. > :42:23.days, but I cannot wait to get home to my fiance and my little girl and

:42:24. > :42:26.my mum and dad. I want to give a shout out to our family back home.

:42:27. > :42:29.One of our young boys passed away earlier this year. This one is for

:42:30. > :42:32.you, look. We thought it was going to be one night of celebration. As

:42:33. > :42:38.he said, it is going to be a big few days. Let's hear from the runners

:42:39. > :42:45.up. Stephen Kearney is with Tanya. Stephen, commiserations, but the

:42:46. > :42:48.best team won today. Yes, I thought Australia's performance today was

:42:49. > :42:55.outstanding. They were ruthless today. For us we did not have an

:42:56. > :43:02.opportunity and we needed things to go our way and none of it happened

:43:03. > :43:04.today. I thought Australia's performance was outstanding. They

:43:05. > :43:12.saved their very best for this performance. We just could not match

:43:13. > :43:18.them today. They did not give you a sniff in the 80 minutes. Absolutely.

:43:19. > :43:23.They were ruthless, they did everything right. Their kicker

:43:24. > :43:28.finishes were outstanding and they were very good today. How do you

:43:29. > :43:35.reflect on the tournament as a whole? You have had some young stars

:43:36. > :43:39.come through. Yes, we are very disappointed today, but we are a

:43:40. > :43:44.young side. As you mentioned, there is some great young talent coming

:43:45. > :43:48.through. It is a matter that we learn from this experience and get

:43:49. > :43:55.better for next time. Thank you for your time. Everything is being set

:43:56. > :44:02.up and the trophy presentation will be very shortly on BBC One after

:44:03. > :44:07.Australia's very comprehensive win over New Zealand. Jamie, we spoke

:44:08. > :44:13.about the kicking game pre-match, we spoke about the 2008 final. The

:44:14. > :44:16.Aussies came out with a purpose because of that final and Billy

:44:17. > :44:25.Slater in particular, given what happened to him in 2008. I think the

:44:26. > :44:32.Australians had intent. I thought Slater was outstanding. I can

:44:33. > :44:42.imagine he was not 100% fit, but some people can play. That is the

:44:43. > :44:47.strength of a true professional. It is the strength of a true

:44:48. > :44:51.professional. You could put that tried down to Queensland. These are

:44:52. > :44:58.all Queensland players and they exploit the space that New Zealand

:44:59. > :45:02.lacked in enthusiasm and energy. Some of that was sucked away by the

:45:03. > :45:07.fact they lost possession. I thought Australia were outstanding. They

:45:08. > :45:17.played very well and stopped New Zealand from playing. The Aussies

:45:18. > :45:26.playing so clean takes the juice out of them. How do you beat a big

:45:27. > :45:32.site? You start them of possession. Australia had the perfect game. I

:45:33. > :45:37.also think it is a credit to the English team in the week before.

:45:38. > :45:42.They were down on energy and the Australians were ruthless in what

:45:43. > :45:48.they did over the full 80 minutes. It was exemplified in the last five

:45:49. > :45:59.minutes. They would not give them anything. They were rushing around.

:46:00. > :46:03.Were New Zealand overawed? I do not think they were over awed. They were

:46:04. > :46:08.hoping to get that emotional energy behind them and to lift themselves.

:46:09. > :46:13.But it was going to be a tough day at the office and it certainly was

:46:14. > :46:24.for the Kiwis. Sonny Bill Williams is hurting in every way. Yes, a lot

:46:25. > :46:28.of these boys start this event in 2012 and the effort and the training

:46:29. > :46:34.and the sacrifice with food, and to get to this stage is amazing. There

:46:35. > :46:50.is a lot more than 80 minutes that goes into tonight's game. The

:46:51. > :47:00.Australians have got a wonderful back line. It is a fantastic ball

:47:01. > :47:04.things go for you like that. When you are in possession and you are

:47:05. > :47:10.doing the little things right, things come off for you. The ball is

:47:11. > :47:18.going his way and it looks quite pretty. He did well to get up from

:47:19. > :47:25.that and score a second. I think he was playing to the camera a little

:47:26. > :47:36.bit. The boys still put their bodies on the line. They do that week in,

:47:37. > :47:43.week out. And it is a good example of Australia. They poured number is

:47:44. > :47:47.in. That was a good example. A little small, sniff of an

:47:48. > :47:54.opportunity. Be ruthless and finish with a try. The few chances that New

:47:55. > :48:00.Zealand had this afternoon they did not finish them off and that is the

:48:01. > :48:05.difference between the two teams. What will this mean for New Zealand

:48:06. > :48:10.rugby league? Before the match we spoke about the fact there is not an

:48:11. > :48:17.inferiority complex because of what happened in 2008. Does New Zealand

:48:18. > :48:20.now feel they can go head-to-head with the Australians? They do not

:48:21. > :48:34.have to come into every game as the underdog. But this is a shock to

:48:35. > :48:37.them today. I think every time you experience anything like that it is

:48:38. > :48:45.a lesson learned. Sometimes it is a hard lesson learned, but it is a

:48:46. > :48:50.lesson learned. Maybe they needed to say, we need to lift our intensity

:48:51. > :48:56.in the early round and do a bit more physical work. Then see if they can

:48:57. > :49:05.get the balance a bit better going into the semifinals and finals

:49:06. > :49:09.itself. It is a unique experience. Referees are going up to get their

:49:10. > :49:14.medals and there is no booing, there is a smattering of applause. As we

:49:15. > :49:17.get ready to see New Zealand coming up and pick up their runners-up

:49:18. > :49:23.medals, what does this say to England? From an English point of

:49:24. > :49:35.view it shows how good you have to be to beat Australia. We were good

:49:36. > :49:41.in that game, but way of our best. If we had been any good in that

:49:42. > :49:48.game, we would have got through. There are three dominant nations. It

:49:49. > :49:57.is safe to say now you can throw in England into that brief and on the

:49:58. > :50:05.day we can beat anyone. Hopefully in the next World Cup England are in

:50:06. > :50:09.the final dance. For me for New Zealand and England they are very

:50:10. > :50:15.young teams and they can grow. I do not think the Australian players,

:50:16. > :50:19.some of them, will make the 2017 World Cup. There is a belief amongst

:50:20. > :50:30.the English that they can mix with the best. As Sonny Bill Williams

:50:31. > :50:35.gets word of commiserations. We have reached the moment of that World Cup

:50:36. > :50:45.being lifted by the winning team of 2013, the Australians. It attracted

:50:46. > :50:51.they have been playing for form another 60 years.

:50:52. > :51:03.It is Australia who get their hands on the trophy again, for the 10th

:51:04. > :51:08.time. It has been a World Cup campaign that has been built on

:51:09. > :51:13.defence. Now once again, they have a to defend. They have been simply

:51:14. > :51:25.outstanding, today and through the tournament. They knew what they had

:51:26. > :51:29.to do, it was just a question of keeping fit and raising the levels

:51:30. > :51:36.for the finals. Today's performance was ruined. They closed the Kiwis

:51:37. > :51:40.down, did the basics well. Any opportunities that came, they took

:51:41. > :51:46.them. A quite magnificent team performance. Probably the last time

:51:47. > :51:52.we see some of these players on English soil? People talk about

:51:53. > :51:55.privilege but we have seen some of the best rugby players on the

:51:56. > :52:01.planet. They have been clinical today, they have shown the

:52:02. > :52:09.breathtaking ease, and their skills as well. World-class players, you

:52:10. > :52:18.can look throughout the team. There is a pressure on Tim Sheens similar

:52:19. > :52:25.to that if you were the Brazilian football manager. Every match, you

:52:26. > :52:30.are expected to win. They'll do their job. The forwards run straight

:52:31. > :52:37.and hard, get into field position. Then the generals, Thurston, Smith,

:52:38. > :52:45.Cameron, then you have Brett Morris finishing things. A winning medal

:52:46. > :53:01.for Cameron Smith. Calling up the rest of the squad, those who haven't

:53:02. > :53:03.featured today. Cameron Smith lifts it! Australia, world-class and world

:53:04. > :53:18.champions again! The fireworks go off and the

:53:19. > :53:23.champagne is being sprayed. What a sight that is. Australia will

:53:24. > :53:41.celebrate for days to come. They have been a credit throughout

:53:42. > :53:47.the tournament, the Australians. Very professional. A great team

:53:48. > :53:51.performance, ruthless. They have been exceptional throughout the

:53:52. > :53:58.performance. They have come out with the best performance in the final.

:53:59. > :54:02.We are out of time. We wished you a successful season and can't wait to

:54:03. > :54:10.see you in an English shirt again. Thanks for being with us, Sam and

:54:11. > :54:14.thank you both as well. Love to work with you both as well! We will see

:54:15. > :54:19.you for the Challenge Cup coverage in April. If you want to see more

:54:20. > :54:39.rugby, you can on the BBC. So after six weeks, we have arrived

:54:40. > :54:44.at Australia, as convincing world champions. We have that excitement,

:54:45. > :54:52.disappointment, the odd clown behind the window, Cheers, tears, and what

:54:53. > :54:55.we have more than ever is people discovering and loving rugby league.
