:00:30. > :00:33.It's a new-look England team for the first of two Test

:00:34. > :00:37.matches in Argentina, with 30 players unavailable

:00:38. > :00:41.through injury, suspension and the British and Irish Lions tour

:00:42. > :00:46.of New Zealand. So, Eddie Jones has named

:00:47. > :00:50.a match-day squad featuring no less than 11 uncapped players but there's

:00:51. > :00:51.real strength in depth in English rugby right now, as the Barbarians

:00:52. > :01:05.found out last week at Twickenham. Warm weather rugby at Twickenham,

:01:06. > :01:08.England on home turf, facing the Barbarians. Perfect match with

:01:09. > :01:19.young, eager players, blending into the system. Ewels with the first

:01:20. > :01:34.try. -- Nathan Earle with the first try. Ewels scoring on his first big

:01:35. > :01:38.counting. Tekori scores and those over. England completing the win in

:01:39. > :01:45.style. A very different challenge awaits

:01:46. > :01:48.today in San Juan. Argentina named an experienced

:01:49. > :01:55.line-up made up entirely of players from the Jaguares Super Rugby

:01:56. > :01:58.franchise. These two teams will face each

:01:59. > :02:01.other in the same pool at the next World Cup.

:02:02. > :02:02.A real opportunity for this young England squad to lay down

:02:03. > :02:13.a marker and impress Eddie Jones. Good evening. Both summer tests,

:02:14. > :02:18.Argentina against England, live on BBC Two for the next two Saturdays.

:02:19. > :02:21.You can't beat it. Good evening to Sir Clive Woodward and Jeremy

:02:22. > :02:24.Guscott. I would have thought that Eddie Jones is relishing looking

:02:25. > :02:29.forward to every moment of seeing his young team. He'll be loving it,

:02:30. > :02:32.there's no pressure on him. Since the Ireland game he relied he needs

:02:33. > :02:37.to develop this England team and he can develop it against a tier one

:02:38. > :02:43.team. 11 uncapped players in your starting group, amazing and a huge

:02:44. > :02:48.opportunity for Eddie. And every single player. The pressure isn't an

:02:49. > :02:51.Eddie, it is a win win situation. Huge pressure on the players

:02:52. > :02:55.individually because they know they have this chance because 30 players

:02:56. > :03:01.are missing for various reasons. Head to head in a tough place

:03:02. > :03:03.against a tier one country. A big opportunity for everybody and Eddie

:03:04. > :03:11.is going to be loving this. England have chosen a tough destination.

:03:12. > :03:15.Argentina is a tough place to go but in 21 meetings, Argentina have only

:03:16. > :03:20.one Mac four times so England can be confident. The exciting thing,

:03:21. > :03:25.seeing the anticipation of this new look side, all the youngsters coming

:03:26. > :03:29.in and be experienced coming in, it is a big opportunity for them to

:03:30. > :03:34.express themselves. I think England haven't nailed down 12 and 13, ten,

:03:35. > :03:39.12, 13, the combination and there is an opportunity at six and seven

:03:40. > :03:45.because you think of Haskell and Robshaw, the incumbents, are they

:03:46. > :03:48.going to make it to 2019? A lot to discuss. Some big names missing.

:03:49. > :03:55.Let's have a look at the England team. Some familiar names like Brown

:03:56. > :04:01.and Jonny May and George Ford and Danny Care but Alex Lozowski, Harry

:04:02. > :04:05.Williams, Marc Wilson and perhaps most importantly, Clive, Tom Curry,

:04:06. > :04:11.18 years old. How excited are you to see him tonight? He is a team come

:04:12. > :04:15.incredible opportunity. He played well against the Barbarians. Playing

:04:16. > :04:20.in a position which I think is fairly open for England selection.

:04:21. > :04:24.We want to see him playing at this level. For him to go up against a

:04:25. > :04:28.top country is huge. I hope we see him playing the physical game, we

:04:29. > :04:34.see him here over the ball, but also being the link man. Great

:04:35. > :04:38.opportunity for Curry but he is 18 years old against a very experienced

:04:39. > :04:42.Argentinian team. He will know more about himself in a couple of hours

:04:43. > :04:46.and Eddie Jones will certainly no more. The youngest England

:04:47. > :04:55.international since Nou Camp Jonny Wilkinson in 1998. We brought him

:04:56. > :05:00.off the bench -- since you capped Jonny Wilkinson. This guy is in a

:05:01. > :05:04.really tough theatre here. Fascinating to see how he does and

:05:05. > :05:08.also the three uncapped players alongside him. But a lot of

:05:09. > :05:13.experience as well, Dylan Hartley is one of them. What did you make of

:05:14. > :05:17.him giving an interview saying he is not an Lions S:O.S. Duty, he is

:05:18. > :05:21.concentrating on this tour? That's the current captain, that's what he

:05:22. > :05:25.must say, that is what I would like to do and I would like to lead this

:05:26. > :05:29.team into the 2019 World Cup but he's under a lot of pressure with

:05:30. > :05:35.Jamie George and he must stay on top of his game. He is playing those 45

:05:36. > :05:39.minutes, 50 minute durations in matches which some people are

:05:40. > :05:43.questioning but his strength is the set piece and he rarely misses the

:05:44. > :05:46.line-out throw, great at scrummaging, not fantastic around

:05:47. > :05:54.the pitch but his experience is invaluable. Going past Martin

:05:55. > :05:57.Johnson, no mean feat. Amazing, equalling Lawrence Dallaglio.

:05:58. > :06:03.Johnson and Dallaglio, Legends of the game, Hartley is up there now.

:06:04. > :06:06.The has gone to a new level since he was capped and it was an inspired

:06:07. > :06:17.choice by Eddie Jones. Let's hear from England coat. -- England coach.

:06:18. > :06:19.What kind of match do you imagine? Always a physical game between

:06:20. > :06:27.Argentina and England. The conditions are good. Argentina have

:06:28. > :06:32.been playing quite an expansive game so it should be a great contest. The

:06:33. > :06:45.young guys in the team, they are going to continue growing? When you

:06:46. > :06:48.put in the younger guys you don't know which way they will go but we

:06:49. > :06:52.are pretty positive today. Eddie said it is one of the greatest

:06:53. > :06:57.challenges in world rugby. Let's talk about Argentina because they

:06:58. > :07:02.had a pretty bad 2016. They beat South Africa in the Rugby

:07:03. > :07:09.Championship but they shipped many points. I'm fascinated, the team is

:07:10. > :07:13.one club side, we've never seen it before when they are playing all

:07:14. > :07:19.year round in one club team, and then the same team steps up into the

:07:20. > :07:24.international jersey and putting on the shirt of Argentina. I find that

:07:25. > :07:27.quite interesting because I just think, international rugby, you

:07:28. > :07:33.bring players from different clubs and different ideas, it's a big step

:07:34. > :07:36.up. They haven't translated the team spirit of the Jaguares into the

:07:37. > :07:40.international team. So far it hasn't worked but it is a must win game for

:07:41. > :07:45.them. Under huge pressure to get a result. Some of the players talk

:07:46. > :07:52.about it being a passion. They see the Jaguares in the super rugby

:07:53. > :07:56.franchise as their job but this is about national pride. While they are

:07:57. > :08:01.playing provincial rugby in the super 18, they are special when they

:08:02. > :08:05.get into the international is. What they have done recently has been

:08:06. > :08:08.inspiring, a great advert for the game, especially getting as far as

:08:09. > :08:13.they did in the World Cup, playing the rugby they played. A good thing

:08:14. > :08:17.for England that they play an expansive game so they can get into

:08:18. > :08:22.the game quicker. Is it a chance for Henry Slade? He has been hurt by

:08:23. > :08:26.criticism from Eddie Jones and he said he is out to prove him wrong

:08:27. > :08:31.tonight. Eddie knows what he is saying, he's just trying to put some

:08:32. > :08:37.heat under Slade. I think Slade is a great player. As Joe said, I don't

:08:38. > :08:43.think the ten, 12, 13 positions are nailed for England. Farrell is going

:08:44. > :08:51.so well. Can Slade play outside him? A big game for George Ford to see if

:08:52. > :08:55.he can keep the access going with Farrell or summary like Slade going

:08:56. > :09:02.to come in? He is multitalented. We have three great ballplayers in

:09:03. > :09:05.Ford, Lozowski and Slade, we've rarely seen that before. I'm looking

:09:06. > :09:09.forward to seeing Henry Slade getting a proper start for England.

:09:10. > :09:14.Here come the Argentinians. Eddie Jones gave an interview where he

:09:15. > :09:18.said that the Argentinian -based game has been about muscle, everyone

:09:19. > :09:21.eating steak and wanting the scrum, so it is a matter of where they go

:09:22. > :09:25.but he acknowledged that they have changed their game, they have the

:09:26. > :09:32.attacking dimension and can run the ball. Huge attacking dimension, the

:09:33. > :09:35.quarterfinal between Argentina and Ireland was spectacular in which

:09:36. > :09:39.they made a big contribution. Talking about the bread-and-butter,

:09:40. > :09:45.the set piece. One player to look out for England, Ellis Genge,

:09:46. > :09:48.becoming good at scrummaging but look out for him carrying the ball

:09:49. > :09:51.around the field. That is where he comes into his own wearing number

:09:52. > :09:56.one. We talked about the young players but what about people like

:09:57. > :10:03.Joe Launchbury, who was unlucky not to make the Lions tour? Watching

:10:04. > :10:05.him, excited for the players. You have Hartley, Launchbury, they will

:10:06. > :10:10.be disappointed. The only way to take out the disappointment is to

:10:11. > :10:14.play. What a wonderful opportunity for these players tonight,

:10:15. > :10:17.especially the experienced ones. Thank you, boys. Time for the

:10:18. > :10:19.anthems and then our match commentators, Andy Robinson and

:10:20. > :10:25.Eddie Butler. # God save our gracious Queen

:10:26. > :12:57.Long live our noble Queen COMMENTATOR: Crystal blue skies,

:12:58. > :13:03.England against Argentina. New caps, Harry Williams in the front row. The

:13:04. > :13:08.promising Ewels in the second and Tom Curry, the youngest ever winner

:13:09. > :13:11.forward selected by England. Half-backs experience but that's the

:13:12. > :13:21.start of a lack of bulk in the England team, going full speed right

:13:22. > :13:30.down the three quarters line. -- going for speed. And eight for the

:13:31. > :13:34.Pumas. Leguizamon. Argentina have inexperienced props too. Creevy, the

:13:35. > :13:42.thumping heart of the team. Lavannini is back from injury.

:13:43. > :13:50.Experience in behalf row and at the back. Power in the centre and

:13:51. > :13:56.direction. They will be looking to be expansive as well. There are

:13:57. > :14:03.threats on the wing. Big Boffelli winning his first cap. Nigel Owens

:14:04. > :14:10.of Wales is today's referee. Shielding his eyes from the southern

:14:11. > :14:17.hemisphere sun. It is blazing down for 330 days of the year in this

:14:18. > :14:25.Western Province of San Juan. Only 30 days of rain. It is arid and dry.

:14:26. > :14:31.Brilliant playing surface, cut short for football. Ready-made for rugby.

:14:32. > :14:36.Young England against the Pumas of Argentina. George Ford stance and it

:14:37. > :14:53.has gone loose until Leguizamon clears up for the Pumas. The

:14:54. > :14:59.captain, Creevy. Let him go. The first pause of the game, coming back

:15:00. > :15:05.to Nicolas Sanchez. Down to Mike Brown. Celebrating his 26th

:15:06. > :15:18.birthday, Hughes, today. It has gone loose. Turnover ball,

:15:19. > :15:25.Argentina. The first whistle from Nigel Owens. Good afternoon, Andy

:15:26. > :15:28.Robinson. Good afternoon, good evening, everybody. Great challenge

:15:29. > :15:34.for this England team, against a fired up first choice Argentina

:15:35. > :15:36.team. The England team has an inexperienced look but there is

:15:37. > :15:42.experience going through the spine of the team, partly, Launchbury,

:15:43. > :15:46.being looked to take the lead and also Care, Ford and Brown. If they

:15:47. > :15:52.can get on the front foot they can get the England team moving and give

:15:53. > :15:57.the inexperienced players energy and enthusiasm to play with free rein.

:15:58. > :16:01.Right on the halfway line, the first scrummage of the game. Argentina,

:16:02. > :16:12.renowned, of course, for their scrummage.

:16:13. > :16:20.England holding firm. Nick Hughes was able to pick up but can't find

:16:21. > :16:24.Marland Yarde. Nigel Owens as whistled, penalty, Argentina.

:16:25. > :16:30.Penalising Hughes because he picked up the ball through the middle of

:16:31. > :16:36.the scrum. The number eight must wait until the ball gets to his feet

:16:37. > :16:44.before he picks it up and plays it. Really good first Argentina scrum

:16:45. > :16:52.there. Nicolas Sanchez waiting for the kicking tee to come on. 2000

:16:53. > :16:58.feet up here on the desert plain on the edge of the Andes as well. Here

:16:59. > :17:06.is the drive. They call it the low ring of the unit. You were saying

:17:07. > :17:10.that they all breathe together. Building up the pressure, all

:17:11. > :17:14.breeding at the same time and then they sink their hips and they get

:17:15. > :17:21.the push forwards, all working together. -- all breathing at the

:17:22. > :17:34.same time. Sanchez, for the first points of the

:17:35. > :17:54.game. Distance, not a problem at all. Direction, just off.

:17:55. > :18:10.George Ford restarting. That's gone too far. Argentina, with all the

:18:11. > :18:15.options. Scrummage, back on the 22. Disappointing first kick from George

:18:16. > :18:20.Ford. He has gone for length and he overcooked it. But the pressure

:18:21. > :18:30.straight back on England. Interesting to see how England work

:18:31. > :18:36.this next scrum. Lavannini and Alemanno, Giants in the Pumas'

:18:37. > :18:39.second row. This, in front of the posts, 22 metres out. Lovely spot

:18:40. > :19:04.for a scrummage. Nigel Owens checks the forwards.

:19:05. > :19:10.Landajo checks with the backs. We will have to go through the rituals

:19:11. > :19:19.again. England have been working really hard on their props

:19:20. > :19:21.dominating with their binds. Working hard with their arms, trying to get

:19:22. > :19:45.on the front foot. Penalty, to England this time. Good

:19:46. > :19:53.scrum from Genge on the front row. Taking a backward step there. The

:19:54. > :19:56.Argentina front row, penalised for them to Mac in the scrum, the head

:19:57. > :20:03.and shoulders going below the hips. -- penalised for hinging. George

:20:04. > :20:09.Ford can hit the ball straight out. England will have the throw in.

:20:10. > :20:17.Hartley in the scrummage. Setting very low. Launchbury, beaten to the

:20:18. > :20:27.ball. Argentina with turnover ball, going wide. Matera involved in the

:20:28. > :20:40.midfield. This is Boffelli, the new cap, six foot three on the wing.

:20:41. > :20:54.Penalty. England, not releasing. Penalty against Wilson. Argentina

:20:55. > :21:03.got on the front foot from the turnover from the line-out, very

:21:04. > :21:15.strong carries. Sanchez putting the ball into the 22.

:21:16. > :21:24.England, get on your 22 please. Argentina, slow to come to the

:21:25. > :21:39.line-out. Leguizamon staying at scrum-half. Ortega Desio. Into the

:21:40. > :21:48.England 22. Creevy, sent back to the line. Sanchez, the little dink

:21:49. > :21:55.through. Oh, that's a quite sensational try. It's the new

:21:56. > :22:03.player, Boffelli, scoring. On his first test. Some really smart play

:22:04. > :22:07.from Argentina. The ball up from the forwards, the back of the line-out,

:22:08. > :22:13.the chip from Sanchez was perfect for fairly to go in and score.

:22:14. > :22:16.Straightaway the forwards, the front five doing some good carries,

:22:17. > :22:22.hitting back on the short side. Sanchez using the kick there,

:22:23. > :22:27.perfect scoring. Looking to move the ball to the right side first, taking

:22:28. > :22:36.Brown away from the sweeper role, giving space down the left-hand wing

:22:37. > :22:40.for them to score. That energises the crowd and gets them behind them

:22:41. > :22:47.as well. Not that they were exactly quiet to begin with! But there's no

:22:48. > :22:53.place like Argentina forehand atmosphere. And when the Pumas

:22:54. > :23:04.score, up they go. And they will go again if Sanchez can land this.

:23:05. > :23:07.Argentina lead, 7-0. England have had a bit of a nervous start, the

:23:08. > :23:12.set piece hasn't gone as well as they would have liked, short of

:23:13. > :23:16.numbers down the short side, Danny Care not playing sweeper in the

:23:17. > :23:19.line. Sanchez saw the space and kicked behind it. England must

:23:20. > :23:26.settle down and get some phrases going. Straight down the field by

:23:27. > :23:35.George Ford. Plenty of height on the ball. Argentina, though, straight

:23:36. > :23:42.onto the offensive. Landajo, that's gone too far. I suppose with

:23:43. > :23:48.football fields, there is a chance to be more narrow. This one looks

:23:49. > :23:55.like it is a bit narrower than the 70 metres with the use to at

:23:56. > :24:02.Twickenham. -- the 70 metres width we're used to. Nathan Hughes busting

:24:03. > :24:07.through into midfield. Just when he seemed to be in the clear, the ball

:24:08. > :24:16.went forward. Again, England turning the ball over after one phase. They

:24:17. > :24:23.haven't built up the Andreu to give themselves confidence on the ball.

:24:24. > :24:29.-- haven't built up the phases. Hughes turning the ball over in the

:24:30. > :24:45.contact as it was ripped out of his hands.

:24:46. > :25:12.We control and we take the pressure as well, OK?

:25:13. > :25:19.Eddie Jones, the England coach, standing, watching. Thoughtful.

:25:20. > :25:29.Things to ponder in these opening moments.

:25:30. > :25:42.Argentina going for the drive on their own put in. Very solid. High

:25:43. > :25:54.tackle. The crowd thought so. Penalty advantage, Argentina. The

:25:55. > :26:03.drive up by Lavannini. They knew that there was an advantage and it

:26:04. > :26:09.is taken quickly. Not a good place for Landajo to slip, in front of

:26:10. > :26:15.Nathan Hughes. Nathan Hughes makes his first mark of the game.

:26:16. > :26:19.Fantastic tackle on Landajo. Really good play by Argentina, moving the

:26:20. > :26:23.ball wide from the scrum inside their own 22, earning a penalty and

:26:24. > :26:30.then they've been able to control possession. Slade going over the top

:26:31. > :26:35.with his tackle, his arm sliding up and taking the neck. Orlando with

:26:36. > :26:44.the head bandage in the Pumas centre. Down it comes from Alemanno.

:26:45. > :27:06.A little confusion. Sanchez clears up.

:27:07. > :27:16.The warning from Nigel Owens to the tackle. -- to the man tackling. If

:27:17. > :27:20.you pick a man up, you must be careful how he comes down. Argentina

:27:21. > :27:26.are in control but going nowhere, so Sanchez goes high. Brown couldn't

:27:27. > :27:29.make it and a way comes Argentina. Good tackle by Marland Yarde the

:27:30. > :28:00.Landajo changing direction. De la Fuente going nowhere. That's

:28:01. > :28:07.loose. Tom Curry seizing the loose ball. England with turnover ball. A

:28:08. > :28:14.chance to come wide. Williams, his pass is intercepted by Moroni. The

:28:15. > :28:18.winner, not held. He can pick himself up and go again -- winger.

:28:19. > :28:46.Argentina, through the front row. Argentina, probing to the side. But

:28:47. > :28:48.it's still slow for them. Advantage, England. England have another

:28:49. > :28:56.advantage, turnover advantage. Lozowski. Jonny May, playing

:28:57. > :29:04.scrum-half. Joe Launchbury, the second row. Danny Care looks up, who

:29:05. > :29:15.is there? Genge is next to him, he's going to kick. Sanchez, coming out

:29:16. > :29:22.of the sun and it requires collecting to restore order.

:29:23. > :29:46.Penalty. Stood in front of the kicker. Just acting as a block to

:29:47. > :29:56.stop the charge. It's so important now, particularly from the base of

:29:57. > :30:02.the scrum and the rucks. First tackle in. What has been impressive

:30:03. > :30:09.by the England defence... Here comes the Argentine prop. He moved across.

:30:10. > :30:14.Just a technical penalty. Very technical. It is, but he's tried to

:30:15. > :30:18.stop people getting in front of the ball and blocking and that's why

:30:19. > :30:22.it's been used. What's been impressive by England in the tackle

:30:23. > :30:27.contest is they've been working hard to go forward which has given the

:30:28. > :30:29.Argentina attacking game a slow ball. England will be able to

:30:30. > :31:04.control the attacks. Very well struck. 7-3. Great stuff

:31:05. > :31:07.from George Ford. That's what we are looking for from him to become a

:31:08. > :32:10.great player, to make those kicks. England steal one back, or do they?

:32:11. > :32:18.Reclaimed by Creevy. The flick off the flash and through come

:32:19. > :32:21.Argentina. Hartley, the England hooker and captain. The hookers very

:32:22. > :32:40.much involved. Super tackle from Genge. Lavanini.

:32:41. > :32:47.Williams working hard in the tackle contest as well.

:32:48. > :32:59.Change of tactic. It was going well until Argentina knocked it on and

:33:00. > :33:05.Genge is involved again. Still advantage to England. Danny Care has

:33:06. > :33:09.to be quick about it. Hashley says no advantage thank you ref let's go

:33:10. > :33:16.back for the scrum. What we are seeing early on in the game is what

:33:17. > :33:22.I seem to have learnt from playing the southern hemisphere sides, a

:33:23. > :33:25.couple of trick plays early on in the line youth, things they've

:33:26. > :33:27.learned from New Zealand and Australia, which is just breaking up

:33:28. > :34:02.again. Again there, it goes. Both front

:34:03. > :34:30.rows battling for the inches on the bind which is creating a problem.

:34:31. > :34:41.Genge and Pieretto singled out by Nigel Owens. Away comes Nathan

:34:42. > :34:48.Hughes, tries to free Yarde. Great opportunity now. Ford gets

:34:49. > :35:21.territory for England. First quarter over. It's been very

:35:22. > :35:29.cagey, apart from the very well worked try by Argentina. A lot of

:35:30. > :35:35.reset scrummages. Turnover ball, line-out not fully official. Tom

:35:36. > :35:48.Curry wins the ball. Lozowski to Hughes who does get England on to

:35:49. > :35:56.the front foot. Joe launchly. Well tackled by Leguizamon. Ortega Desio

:35:57. > :36:06.led the charge. Curry stopped. Ford options on either side. Launchbury

:36:07. > :36:23.again. Argentina have turned England over. May has to go back. Yarde

:36:24. > :36:27.tackled by De La Fuente. Care. Mike Brown.

:36:28. > :36:57.You are the Rhyl. Very well read by Sanchez. Went backwards.

:36:58. > :37:08.-- Curry. Very well read by Sanchez. Joe Launchbury, very experienced.

:37:09. > :37:19.First to arrive Tom Curry. He won't be 19 for five days. Another stolen

:37:20. > :37:29.line-out. Argentina in possession again. Leguizamon. Good use of the

:37:30. > :37:38.ball. Orlando. Tuculet the full-back. Couldn't find bot Ellie.

:37:39. > :37:51.Great play by Argentina, going wide. Looks for the off-load. Takes his

:37:52. > :37:59.eye off the ball as he goes to catch it. Seen Mike Brown in his eye line

:38:00. > :38:11.but really good play by Argentina. And we are back to another scrum.

:38:12. > :38:19.Launchbury and Ewels in the England second row. A bit of relief from

:38:20. > :38:29.this desert sun. A scrummage in the shadows.

:38:30. > :38:43.Hughes picks up. Well tackled by Matera. Good drive by the Newcastle

:38:44. > :38:48.wing forward. May, the acting scrum-half. Ford. Launchbury. Good

:38:49. > :38:59.off-loading by England. Lozowski. Mike Brown. Up to the 22. England's

:39:00. > :39:02.best passage. Launchbury again. Very involved as a ball carrier. Johnny

:39:03. > :39:20.May. Wilson again. Mike Brown. Yarde.

:39:21. > :39:34.Launchbury. Tackled by second row Lavanini.

:39:35. > :39:46.Lozowski. Cheers go up for the Puma's tackles. Hartley. Timing

:39:47. > :39:51.perfect says the referee and England do get the penalty this time. The

:39:52. > :40:07.timing not perfect on the second occasion. Plonlny penalised. --

:40:08. > :40:12.Moroni penalised. Perfect timing there to make the turnover when he

:40:13. > :40:16.was on the floor, he played the ball. When he's on the floor, he's

:40:17. > :40:19.got to release it. Smart play for Hughes as well after the carry from

:40:20. > :40:25.the scrum. England's play started from their own 22. Hughes carried

:40:26. > :40:28.from the scrum powerfully, let go of the ball, picked it up again and got

:40:29. > :40:39.in the heart of the Argentine defence. That enabled it to get to

:40:40. > :40:45.the Argentine 22. They're just starting to get their power runners

:40:46. > :40:51.running hard. Allowing George Ford to be on the front foot. Ford

:40:52. > :40:59.doesn't take any time. England within one point of Argentina. 7-6.

:41:00. > :41:05.We need to see the powers running in because Ford on the front foot is a

:41:06. > :41:11.fantastic attacking option for England, his passing is exceptional.

:41:12. > :41:15.England have to split their forwards to receive the kick off because

:41:16. > :41:22.Argentina have done exactly the same as their chasers. Sanchez. Henry

:41:23. > :41:44.Slade. We are back on the sunny side of the

:41:45. > :42:10.pitch. Low and flat towards Ortega Desio

:42:11. > :42:53.who wins it. Lavanini. Bit of a singling runner

:42:54. > :43:01.and found himself isolated -- single runner. Penalty for England. England

:43:02. > :43:04.dominating these physical exchanges. England are completely dominating

:43:05. > :43:09.that area. Good, low tackles coming in, allowing Mark Wilson, who's the

:43:10. > :43:13.top turnover, top tackler in the Premiership this year, to go and ply

:43:14. > :43:35.his trade. Very strong over the ball. Ford. Good pass.

:43:36. > :43:44.E-Leguizamon. Safely secured this time.

:43:45. > :44:03.Ewels buries himself back in the heart of them all. Lozowski. Slade.

:44:04. > :44:12.Turnover ball for Sanchez. The one-handed take, Matera. Or-Lang go.

:44:13. > :44:23.Back to Landajo. Sanchez gets away from Care. Ceechy. -- Creevy. The

:44:24. > :44:34.cut back by Landajo, tackled by Ford. Orlando. Back to Creevy.

:44:35. > :44:43.Alemanno. Buries himself. Genge comes away with the ball. Turnover.

:44:44. > :44:50.We have had plenty of these in this first half. Williams. Good pass by

:44:51. > :44:54.him. Lozowski. Danny Care. Oh, that is an outstanding tackle by

:44:55. > :45:01.Argentina but England still in possession. May. Just couldn't get

:45:02. > :45:08.the pass away until he did find Care. George Ford to Yarde, winger

:45:09. > :45:14.against prop and the winger is the clear winner. What a score. It's

:45:15. > :45:20.absolute chaos on the rugby field at the moment. Complete chaos. As Eddie

:45:21. > :45:24.Jones has practised since he's come into the England team, being able to

:45:25. > :45:34.play with chaos and showing it there with superb attacking play from the

:45:35. > :45:38.turnover. Well won by Genge. Brilliant line by Lozowski. He ran

:45:39. > :45:48.beautifully straightening up, gave the ball to Care. Beautiful pass.

:45:49. > :46:12.What a fantastic bit of play. On the distant touchline, George

:46:13. > :46:31.Ford prepares as everybody takes a breather.

:46:32. > :46:42.England for the first time have taken the lead. And George Ford has

:46:43. > :46:49.stretched their lead with a beautiful kick from the touchline.

:46:50. > :46:58.Those are important moments, to add that extra two points from the

:46:59. > :47:06.touchline. Well played, George Ford. Watching this, his left hand there,

:47:07. > :47:20.superb pass. Yarde showing the finishing skills he's renowned for

:47:21. > :47:27.at haar begins. -- Harlequins. Henry Slade puts it a long way down. And

:47:28. > :47:33.it comes back to Johnny May who claims the mark inside his 22.

:47:34. > :47:46.Johnny May's taken a time out. It's been so chaotic, he just wants a bit

:47:47. > :47:56.of structure into the game. George Ford from Johnny May's pass.

:47:57. > :48:04.Argentina started well, scored the try, but England have not just

:48:05. > :48:13.clawed their way back in, they did that with their two penalties, and

:48:14. > :48:17.then they cut loose. Fabulous try by Marland Yarde.

:48:18. > :48:32.Another line-out. Pieretto. Creevy joins in is. Leguizamon. Matera

:48:33. > :49:02.picks up. Lavanini. Sanchez. De La Fuente,

:49:03. > :49:07.confronted by Nathan Hughes. Whoops. Moroni. Gone backwards but the

:49:08. > :49:09.little winger is on his own for the moment. The forwards did well to get

:49:10. > :49:34.back and help out. Boffelli, the winger. High towards

:49:35. > :49:40.Mike Brown. Marland Yarde, his club mate is with him. Danny Care. Genge

:49:41. > :49:48.couldn't resist and it's come loose. De La Fuente. Boffelli. Was that

:49:49. > :49:53.deliberate? It's a penalty. Still a chance for Argentina. Two on one,

:49:54. > :49:57.Boffelli for a second try. Not held. Yarde has to make the tackle. Four

:49:58. > :50:08.metres out. Arrange arsenal are arriving in strength. Landajo took

:50:09. > :50:21.it on himself. Pieretto, the prop, over the ball. Lavanini with the

:50:22. > :50:31.brown cap picks up and feeds Creevy. Creevy held by Mark Wilson. Genge.

:50:32. > :50:33.Lavanini. Can he stretch with the long arms? Penalty advantage being

:50:34. > :50:52.played. Nigel Owens, big blast. Top try from Lavanini. Really low

:50:53. > :51:03.body height. Pumps his legs, held by Alemanno. Helping him over the line.

:51:04. > :51:08.Try for Tomas Lavanini. Getting underneath, fighting to stay up,

:51:09. > :51:14.using his hand and gets himself over the line, supported by his second

:51:15. > :51:24.row mate Alemanno. He worked really hard not to two to ground. -- not to

:51:25. > :51:31.go to ground. The try came from another turnover. This game is so

:51:32. > :51:41.chaotic. A joy to watch though. It is. It took a while but it has truly

:51:42. > :51:46.come to life. Just over two minutes to go before half time. Nicolas

:51:47. > :51:57.Sanchez to put Argentina back in the lead.

:51:58. > :52:10.He does and he is two points short of 500 for his one terrorism -- for

:52:11. > :52:14.his country. 14-13 Argentina lead. Great strength by the second row,

:52:15. > :52:23.body angle good. Leguizamon. Slade with the follow up

:52:24. > :52:44.tackle. Matera has lost it. Another

:52:45. > :52:56.turnover. Hartley to Care. Ford. Slade. Yarde. A breather. Wilson.

:52:57. > :53:04.His third turnover of the game. Forces the long pass which goes into

:53:05. > :53:16.touch. Knighter side can get control of the

:53:17. > :53:24.game -- neither side can get control of the game. The stands are more

:53:25. > :53:34.steeper than they look there, nobody is far from the action. Ortega

:53:35. > :53:50.Desio. A little bit of movement. Now some

:53:51. > :53:57.very rapid movement. Landajo comes behind it, Yarde. Yarde does very

:53:58. > :54:12.well to come away with the ball. Care. There was space there.

:54:13. > :54:16.Sanchez. Tuculet. The ball is chasing him all around this field.

:54:17. > :54:21.Mike Brown. There is space over there, but Brown has sliced it. Will

:54:22. > :54:27.we have time for the line-out? Looks as if we will. The half that keeps

:54:28. > :54:46.on giving. The hooter went. Nigel Owens checked

:54:47. > :54:53.that the ball had gone out before it had. On we go. Creevy to throw.

:54:54. > :55:01.Lavanini the try scorer down to Leguizamon.

:55:02. > :55:11.Lavanini does a bit of hammering away. He has To be careful. Wilson

:55:12. > :55:16.the object. But it's a good drive by Argentina. They have a penalty.

:55:17. > :55:25.Matera takes it to ground. Penalty has been given. Tom Curry penalised.

:55:26. > :55:35.The Argentines taking good control of the game. The second very good

:55:36. > :55:46.ball from them. Creevy, the captain indicates that he is going for goal.

:55:47. > :55:49.If he lands it, Sanchez will go past 500 and only two other Argentina

:55:50. > :56:21.players have done that. Beautifully curled in by Sanchez. A

:56:22. > :56:25.bonus for Argentina at the end of the first half, meaning they head

:56:26. > :56:27.for the changing rooms with a four-point lead at half time. 17-13

:56:28. > :56:38.to Argentina. Back out for the second half

:56:39. > :56:43.shortly. Your day may have started with a thrilling British and Irish

:56:44. > :56:47.Lions thrill in New Zealand. We are expecting more points and tries to

:56:48. > :56:52.be scored second half. General assessment of the first half? The

:56:53. > :56:57.game was about turnovers, England led them 9-6 which allowed them to

:56:58. > :57:02.come into the game. It was interesting the physique of the

:57:03. > :57:07.senior forwardth forwards powering in, the new guys were underpowered

:57:08. > :57:11.and underweight. England played really, really well but it's the

:57:12. > :57:17.turnover that's absolutely key. The line-out hasn't gone well. We always

:57:18. > :57:21.thought there would be problems with the Argentinians because they're

:57:22. > :57:29.solid. Right in it and some great tries. Slightly chaotic for you,

:57:30. > :57:34.Jerry? Yes but enjoyable. You expect that from the inexperienced side.

:57:35. > :57:39.They've been in the UK getting their act together, getting used to

:57:40. > :57:45.playing in those units of the midfield, back row, second row. So

:57:46. > :57:48.there's always going to be A bit of getting that togetherness

:57:49. > :57:52.coordinated and right. So in a strange country, in the heat, in the

:57:53. > :57:56.desert, it's going to be a bit uncomfortable, but by the end of the

:57:57. > :58:00.first half, you saw some cohesion. At the beginning, messy. It was

:58:01. > :58:05.rather sloppy, but I suppose you would expect that with so many

:58:06. > :58:08.inexperienced players on the pitch? These are experienced players,

:58:09. > :58:10.certainly at the top of their game, they're just a bit nervous and

:58:11. > :58:15.because they haven't played together, they kept on making the

:58:16. > :58:20.errors. What's bad about this is that it was winner report after

:58:21. > :58:25.another, so the compound penalty came and just meant they had no

:58:26. > :58:30.momentum. They couldn't get any cohesion going. Once the tell fence

:58:31. > :58:34.was fairly good, the tackle percentages were very high.

:58:35. > :58:37.Eventually when you are under that much pressure, you are going to

:58:38. > :58:43.buckle. Argentina then scored the try? Yes, it looks like a simple try

:58:44. > :58:59.but the skill involved was fantastic. The kick was fantastic.

:59:00. > :59:03.Amazing try for. I've been impressed with the way England have struck

:59:04. > :59:08.back. That was a great kick and such a skilful thing to do. Yes, that was

:59:09. > :59:13.Boffelli's first try. The coaches love it, don't you? ! I can troelt

:59:14. > :59:18.that. I said to Jerry straightaway, be very clear, they're up for this

:59:19. > :59:22.game. Great reaction from the coach. As we said, that's what Eddie Jones

:59:23. > :59:27.wants, the players to be exposed to this level of rugby? It's a Test

:59:28. > :59:30.match, you have got 20 today be tested. There is expectation. We

:59:31. > :59:33.thought the game was going to be open and a lot more tries but there

:59:34. > :59:42.are some nerves. Pumas are playing at home and

:59:43. > :59:48.expected to win, probably easily. The young England team want to

:59:49. > :59:52.impress Eddie and get a place for the future. Marland Yarde scored for

:59:53. > :59:57.England and they are back in it. How impressed were you with this try,

:59:58. > :00:01.Jeremy? Well taken, from the turnover, the ball bobbled out and

:00:02. > :00:07.the loosehead Genge gets there very quickly. Launchbury has had a

:00:08. > :00:13.magnificent game. Williams, new cap, passing it on. Turning inside and

:00:14. > :00:19.outside here. Keeping the ball alive. You are hoping that somebody

:00:20. > :00:22.like George Ford can get his hands on the ball in a situation like this

:00:23. > :00:30.because he can read the game so well. Great pass. What a pass. Yarde

:00:31. > :00:38.against him, always going to back himself. England showing composure

:00:39. > :00:45.and executing well. Seeing the mismatch, he can see Yarde, against

:00:46. > :00:51.Pieretto on the wing and that was a sublime pass. He knows that there is

:00:52. > :00:56.a mismatch. Yarde does really well. He has had an in and out game,

:00:57. > :01:01.Yarde. That took some scoring, even against the prop forward. I was

:01:02. > :01:06.watching Ford's eyes, he knew where the mismatch was and that was a

:01:07. > :01:10.great score. Marland Yarde made his England debut in Argentina Arquata

:01:11. > :01:16.years ago, a game you covered here. Seems a long time ago. -- four years

:01:17. > :01:21.ago. Eddie Jones likes Marland Yarde are definitely a favourite, he gives

:01:22. > :01:25.him another chance and he took it tonight. Great finish. Then

:01:26. > :01:35.Argentina scored again and this was a proper old-fashioned Argentinian

:01:36. > :01:42.try. Read one, in that one -- Route one in San Juan! You know this is

:01:43. > :01:49.what they are going to do, there is no shame. A penalty as well. They

:01:50. > :01:53.have that in the bag. A decent, well taken try. They know they have the

:01:54. > :02:00.extra power, the England forwards are a bit lightweight because the

:02:01. > :02:03.guys coming in are young and still developing. Argentina going back to

:02:04. > :02:08.type, this is the obvious strength they have against England. Great

:02:09. > :02:12.try. The scary thing is that the Argentina bench is very powerful and

:02:13. > :02:17.experienced as well, so this will be a long second-half for England.

:02:18. > :02:22.Compare to the inexperienced England bench, we were looking at Lavannini

:02:23. > :02:29.before he came on -- we came on the air, 20 stone as well. He's a unit,

:02:30. > :02:36.isn't he! As Eddie Jones said at the start of today, he eats a lot of

:02:37. > :02:39.steak. Plenty of rugby this weekend. The British and Irish Lions were

:02:40. > :02:43.looking to bounce back after their midweek defeat, under a lot of

:02:44. > :02:45.pressure against the Crusaders. Looking to bounce back from the

:02:46. > :02:51.midweek defeat against the Blues. Improved performance from a very

:02:52. > :02:56.impressive Lions, four Owen Farrell penalties effecting the first defeat

:02:57. > :02:59.on the Crusaders this season. We can speak to Chris Jones, who was at the

:03:00. > :03:05.game and worked late into the night to send us this report. Challenging

:03:06. > :03:09.start of this tour for the Lions, scrappy victory followed by defeat.

:03:10. > :03:14.To take the scalp of one of the best club sides in the world is a

:03:15. > :03:18.significant statement from Warren Gatland's side. It was far from

:03:19. > :03:23.pretty, based on a phenomenal defensive effort as the Lions kept

:03:24. > :03:26.the Crusaders down to just three points. In these parts, that's an

:03:27. > :03:33.hurdle. The line-out worked well, George Kruis working well, Faletau

:03:34. > :03:37.excelling at number eight and the half-backs pairing of Murray and

:03:38. > :03:41.Farrell, perhaps cementing their places in the test team. The Lions

:03:42. > :03:47.spurned opportunities, this remains a cause for concern but was today

:03:48. > :03:51.the day the 2017 Lions announce themselves to the New Zealand

:03:52. > :03:59.public? And perhaps started to win a bit of respect? Tough week, really

:04:00. > :04:05.tough. A lot of criticism. People have written off the tour. Already,

:04:06. > :04:09.after two games. That's been challenging, challenging for all of

:04:10. > :04:13.us. We've had to stay strong within the group, keep the faith and say,

:04:14. > :04:18.look, the goal is the Test match and keep improving from there. I hope we

:04:19. > :04:22.didn't disappoint too many people tonight with the result. From here

:04:23. > :04:27.is the Lions are going to Dunedin to play the Highlanders. Captain Sam

:04:28. > :04:30.Warburton will be involved after recovering from a minor ankle

:04:31. > :04:35.problem. Although the spectre of the All Blacks looms large in a

:04:36. > :04:46.fortnight's time, the Lions are now well and truly up and running.

:04:47. > :04:49.Last man standing there. Let's bring you up-to-date with today's other

:04:50. > :04:58.results. A lot of rugby this weekend. Gregor Townsend's first

:04:59. > :05:02.match in charge of Scotland. Highlights at the end of the

:05:03. > :05:10.programme. Of all places, in Singapore.

:05:11. > :05:17.We will bring you highlights of the Scotland game at full-time. We will

:05:18. > :05:22.also talk about the British and Irish Lions at the end of tonight's

:05:23. > :05:25.match. A much improved performance from the Lions, much needed. Will

:05:26. > :05:29.that ease the pressure on Warren Gatland? I thought it was very

:05:30. > :05:36.pretty, amazing performance from the Lions. The line-out was amazing,

:05:37. > :05:40.defensively, hats off to the line-out coach and his son, Owen

:05:41. > :05:44.Farrell, one of the best games I've seen him play. When he's on fire,

:05:45. > :05:50.fantastic. The scoreline flattered the Crusaders, the Lions team were

:05:51. > :05:55.two or three better than that. A lot talked about the Crusaders, in

:05:56. > :06:00.fantastic form in Super Rugby. I can't think of a real chance they

:08:12. > :08:15.many papers this week, a lot of talk about the uncapped players and he

:08:16. > :08:20.said about Matt Giteau, I gave him his debut for Australia. He was

:08:21. > :08:24.terrible, dropping the ball, two bad passes, rubbish, the second test was

:08:25. > :08:27.better and then his career blossom. We don't have Matt Giteau on the

:08:28. > :08:35.bench because the new caps have played well. The fascinating thing,

:08:36. > :08:39.the bench is important. We saw the Argentinian power coming into fore

:08:46. > :08:51.power and I think we will see the old-fashioned Argentina coming back,

:09:23. > :09:32.COMMENTATOR: Thank you, Jason. England facing the kick-off of

:09:42. > :09:54.Still warm down there. Henry Slade, his first touch. Very good kick from

:09:55. > :10:01.Henry Slade. To the ten metre line, England can now press the defence

:10:17. > :10:28.Lavannini brought him down. High challenge, but still. Ewels driving

:10:29. > :10:38.it up. Wilson again involved. That's come away. But it's offside. Another

:10:39. > :10:55.technical infringement by Argentina at the ruck. Moroni. The tackler

:10:56. > :11:03.can't go in. As the tackle is made, the ball is placed. Not allowed to

:11:13. > :11:18.Good work from England. Slade, really good kick, pressure in the

:12:19. > :12:27.thump. Up go the flags and England are back to within one point. Good

:12:28. > :12:35.kick and a very good settler. Big challenge for his goal-kicking and

:12:36. > :12:43.George Ford is currently delivering. Sanchez has split his forwards. And

:12:44. > :12:48.off they go. De la Fuente and Boffelli leading the charge. Can't

:12:49. > :12:56.stop Henry Slade putting Yarde into space. The strength of Marland

:12:57. > :13:03.Yarde, it took three tackles to stop him. Good hands, Tom Curry. Nathan

:13:04. > :13:10.Hughes, the birthday boy. Genge, the prop. Jonny May, off his

:13:37. > :13:37.time, England going in the wrong direction and Argentina with the

:13:38. > :13:56.penalty. And off we go. It's a good kick. For a moment it

:13:57. > :14:01.seemed that Argentina might go the length themselves. England playing

:14:02. > :14:05.with really quick ball. The pace of the game, when they get the pace of

:14:06. > :14:10.the game at a high level, by unstoppable with the attacks they

:14:11. > :14:13.have. Great scrambled defence by Argentina, slowing the ball down

:14:14. > :14:17.close to their line, stopping the England momentum. Hartley eventually

:14:18. > :14:24.getting turned over in the tackle contest. The game gathered pace

:14:25. > :14:29.through the first half. It started off even faster in the second. Way

:14:30. > :14:44.comes Nathan Hughes, shrugging off one and two tacklers.

:14:45. > :14:55.Genge, how busy are the props out there? Creevy, his hands in the way.

:14:56. > :15:04.George Ford sending it high towards Moroni. Landajo was back to help

:15:05. > :15:08.out. Slightly untidy by Argentina. Advantage England, they have the

:15:09. > :15:13.put-in at the scrum. Great tactics by England, kicking into the sun.

:15:14. > :15:23.Really putting pressure on the catch by Moroni. Very hard to catch the

:15:56. > :16:02.Another scrum goes down. Nigel Owens, saying let's use it quickly

:16:03. > :16:04.and we'll be all right. Jonny May coming into the line and keeps going

:16:05. > :16:19.a couple of yards. Ewels with Launchbury. Wilson, held

:16:20. > :16:27.up by Matera. Wilson delivers, though. The other wing forward, Tom

:16:28. > :16:39.Curry. Brilliant by Henry Slade, the little pink forward for Jonny May to

:16:40. > :16:48.chase. Outstanding skills from Henry Slade. That's why he's picked at 13,

:16:49. > :16:52.to do exactly that. Incredible hit coming in from the Argentina

:16:53. > :16:57.defenders but brilliant gills. Superb from Slade. Showing the ball

:16:58. > :17:01.and having the foresight to kick it through as well. Well played, Henry

:17:02. > :17:12.Slade. He started the second half really well. The weight of the kick,

:17:13. > :17:25.perfect. To have the foresight to do that. Carrying himself, and

:17:26. > :17:37.unselfish play. The English fans in the crowd. Forming a small part of

:17:38. > :17:43.this crowd. But they've got plenty to cheer at the moment. George Ford

:17:44. > :17:51.again, from wide out all stop Argentina have already made a

:17:52. > :17:53.change. An hands, Petti. -- on comes Petti. He'll go into second row,

:17:54. > :18:10.looks like Lavannini is coming off. Another brilliant kick by George

:18:11. > :18:15.Ford. Five out of five. England are back in believe. Already in the

:18:16. > :18:18.first half you have seen England lifting the pace. In the first half

:18:19. > :18:54.they were a little bit slow. The captain of Argentina has gone.

:18:55. > :19:19.Creevy, replaced by Montoya. Leguizamon, tackled by Slade.

:19:20. > :19:44.Guerrero -- by Lavanini. Excellent use of the short side but just

:19:45. > :19:57.touched forward. Argentina working hard to attack the short side.

:19:58. > :20:06.A big moment. Solomona comes onto the field, for Marland Yarde, who

:20:07. > :20:15.has played really well. In that 50 minutes of play. Solomona comes on.

:20:16. > :20:18.Interesting to see how he performs. Denny Solomona, brought up in New

:20:19. > :20:23.Zealand. Came to play rugby league at Castleford and then retired, to

:20:24. > :20:45.re-emerge in rugby union with Sale. So, there was no forward pass so

:20:46. > :20:52.Argentina will have... Luke I'm going to go with my initial call. --

:20:53. > :20:55.I'm going to go with my initial call. That's why he's the best

:20:56. > :21:02.referee in the world, handling it that way. The players respect him

:21:03. > :21:10.for that. He's made an error and it has been corrected. Well done.

:21:11. > :21:23.Julian Montoya, the new Argentina hooker, striking this but in from

:21:24. > :21:31.Landajo. Leguizamon picks it up. De la Fuente, in support. He scores.

:21:32. > :21:41.What a game this is in Sam Ryan -- in San Juan. Falling over in the

:21:42. > :21:47.tackle allowing Landajo to go through the space. Expecting the

:21:48. > :21:58.pass. Great support work coming through.

:21:59. > :22:08.It looks as if we're going to have another change of the lead. England

:22:09. > :22:15.snatched it back. Not so much snatched, as created. Argentina have

:22:16. > :22:25.responded. Nicolas Sanchez adding the conversion. Argentina now lead,

:22:26. > :22:31.24-23. Landajo getting the handoff. Tom Curry, really good support work

:22:32. > :22:50.from De la Fuente. 52 minutes played. Just under half

:22:51. > :22:58.an hour to go. Leguizamon waiting. Heading for the blindside.

:22:59. > :23:20.Argentina, happy to play. The other centre, Orlando. Outside him,

:23:21. > :23:24.Boffelli. Boffelli feeding Tuculet and Argentina's lead goes. Brilliant

:23:25. > :23:32.try, absolutely brilliant. What great rugby. Positive rugby being

:23:33. > :23:35.rewarded. Argentina attacking inside their own 22. Moving the ball

:23:36. > :23:41.beautifully through the hands, some really good running. Straightening

:23:42. > :23:49.the line to get into the England line. Really good support line,

:23:50. > :23:54.great off-load. Solomona, missing his second tackle. Superb pass.

:23:55. > :24:02.Carrying the ball in two hands and superb support work. End to end

:24:03. > :24:05.rugby. Some really crisp passing. This is what Argentina have

:24:06. > :24:12.developed, playing against the southern hemisphere teams, playing

:24:13. > :24:37.in the rugby Championship. Some real pace about how they play.

:24:38. > :24:51.I swear there is no crowd like it. And up they go again. Very difficult

:24:52. > :24:54.to swing low, isn't it? The Argentine supporters, fantastic.

:24:55. > :25:20.They are celebrating great rugby. England start to work their bench.

:25:21. > :25:33.Genge goes off. Lisowski goes off. -- Lozowski. Piers Francis is on the

:25:34. > :25:38.field. Argentina, flying at the moment. England must score twice to

:25:39. > :25:44.take back the lead. Even Joe Launchbury, who has been mighty in

:25:45. > :25:50.this game, giving a bit of ground. Francis is immediately involved.

:25:51. > :25:59.Solomona must wait for his first touch. Little pink from Landajo.

:26:00. > :26:10.Boffelli chases and wins -- little dink from Landajo. Taken on by

:26:11. > :26:19.Noguera. Back on the Argentina side. Leguizamon takes it on. Petti over

:26:20. > :26:32.the ball. As is the new front row forward, Montoya. Tom Curry over the

:26:33. > :26:39.ball. Still with the blue and white shirts. Argentina, down to 14 for a

:26:40. > :26:41.moment. Behind the ruck there is an injury. I think is the winger

:26:42. > :27:01.Boffelli who is down. He's back up. Still Argentina. Sanchez, is he in

:27:02. > :27:12.position for the drop goal? Pushing it to the right. Mike Brown checks

:27:13. > :27:17.where the nearest pursuer is. The front five having to work hard. The

:27:18. > :27:23.England back row are going to keep England in the game. Very good

:27:24. > :27:27.tackles and work over the ball, slowing the Argentine momentum. We

:27:28. > :27:31.have seen Argentina carrying their best, going through the injured line

:27:32. > :27:40.and the backs have exceptional handling skills. High, out of the

:27:41. > :27:49.sun it comes. Moroni, good strength by the winger.

:27:50. > :28:01.Landajo, he's had a very good game. He has distributed intelligently.

:28:02. > :28:09.Sanchez, haven't seen much of this in the second half. Mike Brown

:28:10. > :28:17.tested, and knocks on. Argentina have the put-in. Their change of

:28:18. > :28:21.tactics from Argentina, going the aerial route. They've done it twice

:28:22. > :28:31.now and both times they've got the ball back. Useful tactics for them

:28:32. > :28:38.to use. Leguizamon goes off and on comes Senatore. Highly experienced.

:28:39. > :28:46.England have very little experience on their bench. They have talent,

:28:47. > :28:54.but little experience. Senatore brings. 44 caps coming onto the

:28:55. > :28:59.field. Exciting time for the England bench. Waiting to come on, waiting

:29:00. > :29:05.to hear from Eddie Jones that he wants them to join the fray. They

:29:06. > :29:10.will be buzzing. When I say in length have no experience on the

:29:11. > :29:16.bench, they have no caps with seven of their eight replacements. Matt

:29:17. > :29:28.Mullan with 15 caps is the only one who has played test rugby.

:29:29. > :29:37.We're back to those long distant days of the first quarter when this

:29:38. > :29:42.was a problem. Both sides, we have to have the space. Keep the pressure

:29:43. > :30:25.off you. Sanatore says to him, oh, that was

:30:26. > :30:43.on, wasn't it. It was covered by Mark Wilson. He was alive to it.

:30:44. > :31:05.Argentina exert pressure. Huge pressure. It's the first time it's

:31:06. > :31:12.happened. Rampaging scrum by the Pumas. And they've won the penalty.

:31:13. > :31:14.Oh, I can't tell you how much that hurts if you're wearing dark blue

:31:15. > :31:28.now. Under real pressure. All the forwards working together,

:31:29. > :31:37.staying square. Sanchez misses. The gap stays at

:31:38. > :32:33.eight points. Boffelli goes off and on comes

:32:34. > :32:39.Moyano for Argentina. George Ford sends it long. Senetore catches.

:32:40. > :32:43.Takes the hit of three players and gets back up but he was held.

:32:44. > :33:06.Penalty to England. A change first on the England side.

:33:07. > :33:19.Will Collier comes into the front row. A change at outside-half. The

:33:20. > :33:24.magician himself comes on. Juan Martine Hernandez. As he see him

:33:25. > :33:27.come on, Sanchez comes off. What a good performance from Harry

:33:28. > :33:31.Williams. He should be really pleased with the debut. Some

:33:32. > :33:36.outstanding tackles. Very good carries. He's done a lot of unseen

:33:37. > :33:41.work, well done Williams. Right choice to bring Collier on now who's

:33:42. > :33:48.been scrummaging very well for Harlequins this year: England have

:33:49. > :33:54.to score twice to get into the lead. George Ford is happy to have a long

:33:55. > :34:29.shot at goal with this penalty. It islong one too.

:34:30. > :34:36.Beautiful by George Ford. He has been imMacrat with his pace-kicking

:34:37. > :34:40.and they've all been difficult. Long kicks, kicks from the touchline.

:34:41. > :34:52.He's keeping England very much in this game. That kick's also silenced

:34:53. > :35:07.the crowd. England under real pressure in that last ten minutes.

:35:08. > :35:08.Hernandez towards Mike Brown. Montoya with the tackle. Charlie

:35:09. > :35:26.Hughes. George Ford. Not the longest.

:35:27. > :35:31.Shadows across the feeted. -- the field.

:35:32. > :35:43.Are replacement hooker prepares to throw.

:35:44. > :36:01.Gets it down to Ortega Desio. Hooker Montoya has the ball. Short pass has

:36:02. > :36:07.come loose and Ford is away. Good support, Henry Slade, back to George

:36:08. > :36:13.Ford. Ford has the pace. Oh, England strike back.

:36:14. > :36:25.Brilliant first touch for Francis to get the off-load support work as we

:36:26. > :36:30.see here. De La Fuente, Francis then with the vision to get the off-load

:36:31. > :36:38.and Ford powers away to score in the corner. The game has turned through

:36:39. > :36:40.a couple of Argentinian mistakes and England can go into the lead with

:36:41. > :36:54.this kick from Ford. Argentina trying to get back on the

:36:55. > :37:11.front foot. George Ford pinching himself a

:37:12. > :37:13.couple of feet there. The way he's kicking it, it really doesn't

:37:14. > :37:28.matter. George Ford adds a try to his two

:37:29. > :37:31.conversions and his four penalties. This to put England back into the

:37:32. > :38:02.lead. Gives it a certain poetic justice

:38:03. > :38:04.here. Such a pulsating game. Both sides playing so well. We are all

:38:05. > :38:32.square. 31-31. Hernandez. Has that gone too long? A

:38:33. > :38:41.mistake by Juan Martine Hernandez. England look as if they are going

:38:42. > :38:44.for the scrummage on half way. Hernandez' first touch. Puts

:38:45. > :38:59.pressure on himself. Will Collier's first scrum at

:39:00. > :39:27.international rugby. What's left? The Argentinian legs?

:39:28. > :39:34.Not as much as Nathan Hughes comes away with it. Slade. Brown. May goes

:39:35. > :39:45.in for some clearing out. Back to Tom Curry. Forward. Really unlucky.

:39:46. > :39:55.Curry running into space. Just overrunning.

:39:56. > :40:13.Landajo is injured. We have a replacement anyway.

:40:14. > :40:18.12 minutes to go. Anything could happen in this game and anything

:40:19. > :40:25.could be reversed again. 12 minutes to go. 31-31 is the right score from

:40:26. > :40:30.what we've seen so far but really looking forward to this next 12

:40:31. > :40:31.minutes as England use their bench, the young inexperienced players

:40:32. > :40:36.coming on. Landajo comes off. Not without a

:40:37. > :41:06.limp. A lot of shaking but it's not moving

:41:07. > :41:19.an inch. They get it away eventually,

:41:20. > :41:28.Argentina. Hernandez gets the pass away. Orlando straightens it.

:41:29. > :41:51.England scrambled back. Senetore. Matera. Another pass very well

:41:52. > :42:02.taken. Argentina on the march again. Matera. Play on says the referee.

:42:03. > :42:07.England's defence. England pumped. They have worked the turnover. Dare

:42:08. > :42:24.they come from here. They do. George Ford. Jonny May for himself to chase

:42:25. > :42:32.and the touchline wins. Beats them. Two amazing tackles. The work he's

:42:33. > :42:35.had to do, he's made two fantastic tackles to save England. Succeeded

:42:36. > :42:42.at winning the turnover. Moroni is OK. Argentina have made a

:42:43. > :43:20.last change in their front row. Penalty against England for the

:43:21. > :43:31.deliberate knockdown. Was it deliberate? England just getting

:43:32. > :43:39.their timing wrong when they tried to collapse that ball. Just watching

:43:40. > :43:55.Senetore, at 33, he's starting to feel it. Great pace. Another change

:43:56. > :44:02.for England. 18-year-old Tom Curry is going off. An outstanding

:44:03. > :44:10.performance from Tom Curry. Incredible work in his defensive

:44:11. > :44:15.tackle. The tackle contest. While you're talking, I'm looking at the

:44:16. > :44:21.kick by Hernandez. I mean he was tight against the touchline and he's

:44:22. > :44:56.made 40 metres. Sensational kick. Simple but brilliant.

:44:57. > :45:13.On comes the power of the Pumas. Takes a step back.

:45:14. > :45:24.Chance for Argentina to go wide. Orlando. Was there a high tackle by

:45:25. > :45:31.Henry Slade? Play on. Nearly opened up. England have a penalty

:45:32. > :45:39.advantage. Mark Wilson singled out by the

:45:40. > :46:06.referee and his fellow players. George Ford. That is another

:46:07. > :46:09.excellent kick from the penalty. From a dangerous situation up into

:46:10. > :46:23.the Argentina half of the field. Who knows what is happening in this

:46:24. > :46:29.fantastic game of rugby. 31-apiece. Seven minutes to go. They're

:46:30. > :46:42.breathing hard. Mark Wilson's had a fabulous game. Brilliant game.

:46:43. > :46:58.They than Hughes comes in at pace. And here he is.

:46:59. > :47:11.Ford. Ford stays on his feet. Argentina can break out. It's a

:47:12. > :47:26.question of getting the passing right. Not held. Play on. It's been

:47:27. > :47:38.lost again. Puts it out of play. Advantage over.

:47:39. > :47:46.Hernandez saw the line and he didn't want to go for it. Gives the pass.

:47:47. > :47:57.Really good scramble defence coming back. George Ford working hard.

:47:58. > :48:15.Jonny May forced the turn over. Ewels making that tackle.

:48:16. > :48:28.Argentina start again. The prop still with energy. Here is the

:48:29. > :48:37.change of direction. De La Fuente still has energy to dance. It's

:48:38. > :48:52.there for Bertranou to collect. Was that high by Nathan Hughes? Play on.

:48:53. > :49:01.Petti. Hernandez. Alemanno second row. De La Fuente. Move into the

:49:02. > :49:20.corner. Danger for England. Matera. The replacement hooker. The

:49:21. > :49:29.drive comes on in front of the England posts.

:49:30. > :49:40.Replacement Chaparro. Two metres to go. Huge pressure at the end of an

:49:41. > :49:51.absorbing exhilarating game. Argentina pressing for the try. The

:49:52. > :49:59.try that would surely win the game. Penalty advantage England. Straight

:50:00. > :50:12.into the ruck. They go for the try: Hernandez waits. Up goes Nigel Owens

:50:13. > :50:18.hand. Argentina take the lead. England still have time to fight

:50:19. > :50:26.back, but what a good attack from Argentina.

:50:27. > :50:38.S. Calmness itself. Look at this, didn't try to do anything other than

:50:39. > :50:51.stroke the ball. Argentina had an advantage. The projection scored.

:50:52. > :51:05.Seven points. Who knows what can happen.

:51:06. > :51:23.Francis involved in keeping it at 15-15. It's Argentina 34-England 31.

:51:24. > :51:33.Three minutes to go. Argentina in possession. Hernandez. That's a

:51:34. > :51:42.monster kick, a huge kick. Mike Brown, will he keep it in play? He

:51:43. > :51:55.does. Hernandez, will he keep it in play? No, he won't. But that's a

:51:56. > :52:05.brilliant kick. It leaves the Pumas parked. It's been a huge game.

:52:06. > :52:09.Trading on the resources of the players, sapping the energy, raising

:52:10. > :52:22.the entertainment levels of the crowd. Jonny May. Tackled by

:52:23. > :52:27.Orlando. May wriggles and turns to face the right way. Argentina sense

:52:28. > :52:43.a turnover. It's safely there on the England side. Launchbury. Francis.

:52:44. > :52:49.Is the new camp going to score? Remarkable Solomona for England with

:52:50. > :52:56.less than a minute and a half to go! England have seized the game at the

:52:57. > :53:02.death. Solomona. What a first touch. What a first touch from him!

:53:03. > :53:06.Incredible power step. Well played, Joe Launchbury. Watch this power

:53:07. > :53:08.step. Fends off and has the ability to power away and score under the

:53:09. > :53:35.post. We will restart play. The try was

:53:36. > :53:41.scored with five seconds. Argentina will have one last chance. Ford

:53:42. > :53:47.lands the conversion. This has been one of the games of the season, one

:53:48. > :53:48.of the games of many a year. Solomona, the power to get through

:53:49. > :54:16.one tackle and then the speed. It's worth noting that Jack Border

:54:17. > :54:21.has entered the fray. He's tying his laces to take up a bit more time.

:54:22. > :54:44.He's a young player with an old head.

:54:45. > :54:51.There goes the hooter. All England have to do is secure possession and

:54:52. > :55:21.get rid of the ball. The replacement scrum-half feeds the

:55:22. > :55:27.scrum and gets the ball away to George Ford. Nigel Owens blows his

:55:28. > :55:34.whistle. A remarkable game of rugby comes to an end and England on tour

:55:35. > :55:39.in Argentina have beaten the hosts. Argentina 43-England 38.

:55:40. > :55:44.I have no idea what you have got planned for next Saturday evening

:55:45. > :55:48.but I suggest you cancel whatever you are doing and make a date with

:55:49. > :55:52.us, because after this, you do not want to miss the second test. What

:55:53. > :55:57.an international Test match, Clive? I'm not always speechless. It's

:55:58. > :56:02.absolutely fantastic and well done both sets of players, big well done

:56:03. > :56:07.to Nigel Owens, refereed the game brilliantly. The spirit it was

:56:08. > :56:11.played in, the tries and the fluidity with the young England

:56:12. > :56:15.players who stepped up to the mark. This young lad Tom Curry will be

:56:16. > :56:20.battered and blue tonight but what an amazing game. Hartley,

:56:21. > :56:26.Launchbury, Hughes on to the end. The substitutions were right. What

:56:27. > :56:31.an amazing game. Congratulations to everybody involved. Brilliant. They

:56:32. > :56:35.held their nerve England. I didn't think they would with the

:56:36. > :56:39.inexperience coming off the bench. I thought they would fold and collapse

:56:40. > :56:49.because the Pumas had the momentum and let it two with a poor decision.

:56:50. > :56:52.These kids came on, the inexperience came on and were absolutely

:56:53. > :56:58.phenomenal to keep going to that end. They played with ambition. They

:56:59. > :57:08.played like they had something to lose and they really put that

:57:09. > :57:16.performance in. What a story that is on his debut. He was absolutely

:57:17. > :57:21.brilliant this evening. You have to say, for those inexperienced

:57:22. > :57:25.players, this is a huge moment in the rugby lives. That changing room

:57:26. > :57:29.will be amazing for England now. A huge, huge moment for them and Ford

:57:30. > :57:35.was absolutely fantastic. Outside his goal kicking, the team was

:57:36. > :57:43.composed. Slade alongside him played well as well. The fluidity was

:57:44. > :57:51.fantastic. The senior players really stepped up. 2 side got better with

:57:52. > :57:55.the tempo -- this side. They really got excited and wanted to get hold

:57:56. > :57:59.of the ball, linked incredibly well, gelled the further the game went on,

:58:00. > :58:08.the stickier they got. It was brilliant. When you're up against it

:58:09. > :58:12.and Argentina looked as though they were going to race away, even some

:58:13. > :58:17.experienced rugby test sides might not stay in it but this side hung on

:58:18. > :58:19.in there. There was real composure. England had control then they

:58:20. > :58:24.dropped off, then arrange arsenal smashed them for about ten minutes

:58:25. > :58:28.and it was just amazing, they kept their composure. The England team

:58:29. > :58:34.can move the ball because they have great players at 10, 12, 13, with

:58:35. > :58:37.the pace in the back row, Hughes, Wilson Curry, they were fantastic.

:58:38. > :58:42.That is a massive step up for the England team. That's such a big, big

:58:43. > :58:46.bonus. We'll talk about Tom Curry in a moment. Let's hear from George

:58:47. > :58:52.Ford. Your first feelings after the match?

:58:53. > :58:58.Relief. That game swung both ways. We were up, we were losing,

:58:59. > :59:02.Argentina were up, Argentina were losing - we just couldn't quite get

:59:03. > :59:06.a grip of the game second half but managed to get lucky with Denny.

:59:07. > :59:10.What a finish. We can't fault the effort there. The boys really put a

:59:11. > :59:14.good shift in. It's important to start winning? Of course, yes. The

:59:15. > :59:18.first game of the tour, it's always nice to start with a win. It will be

:59:19. > :59:23.harder next week so we'll go back, we'll train hard and get better and

:59:24. > :59:27.Ethiopiafully put in a better performance. New energy for the

:59:28. > :59:32.team, the new guys? Brilliant, can't fault the effort. Running round

:59:33. > :59:34.there like mad men. Fair play, it's a breath of fresh airplaying with

:59:35. > :59:43.them boys who really took the opportunity today.

:59:44. > :59:47.Great answer from George Ford there, "brilliant, mate". He's only 24 and

:59:48. > :59:52.they are talking about the young ones. Yes. A sloppy start though?

:59:53. > :00:00.It's expected. They don't know each other well at all. England coming

:00:01. > :00:06.back off the loss against Ireland, they won the Championship, but they

:00:07. > :00:10.had to bounce back like the Lions. Is the strength in-depth really what

:00:11. > :00:16.we think it is? After that performance against a massive Puma

:00:17. > :00:22.side, it's so uplifting? Also Also the stadium was bouncing. Andy said

:00:23. > :00:27.something had to be done to quieten the crowd. It's a wonderful place to

:00:28. > :00:31.play. It Takes Two sides and Argentina played really well. The

:00:32. > :00:35.England team, the pace they played at, when they needed to, the pace

:00:36. > :00:39.went up a level and this side couldn't live with it. To see the

:00:40. > :00:44.fluidity of the play, especially with foshed again. Here we are.

:00:45. > :00:47.England are going to win a trophy of some sword -- Ford again. Hartley is

:00:48. > :00:56.getting used to this? The side keep on winning, full of

:00:57. > :01:03.confidence, the momentum is on their side at the moment. It's Eddie

:01:04. > :01:10.Jones. Is that winning mentality, isn't it? What he has injected into

:01:11. > :01:14.the squad is continuing. Look how many, they don't have any

:01:15. > :01:18.experience. It's not just the winning, it is how they are playing,

:01:19. > :01:25.the fluidity, it is wonderful to watch. Great rugby. How often in the

:01:26. > :01:28.Six Nations, you look at social media and newspaper reports, if it

:01:29. > :01:32.has been a dull game, sometimes there's a lot of introspection about

:01:33. > :01:36.where rugby is going but this is perfect evidence, when you have

:01:37. > :01:41.ambition, Test match rugby can be brilliant. George Ford at fly half,

:01:42. > :01:48.24 years old, out of breath giving that interview. Not many number tens

:01:49. > :01:55.of out of breath afterwards but that game, the pace showed. Not surprised

:01:56. > :01:58.when Argentina scored the first try. Started very powerfully and you

:01:59. > :02:04.could see here, they've got good hands. This is the first try that

:02:05. > :02:09.started the game. Great kick from Sanchez. You think maybe England are

:02:10. > :02:15.in for a long game but they didn't give up. Starting off the try -fest.

:02:16. > :02:22.The big night for Boffelli, test debut for him. Played in the rugby

:02:23. > :02:28.under 20 Championships in 2013, 2014 and 20 15. The coach loved it. Great

:02:29. > :02:32.start at home, getting the crowd behind them. Sloppy England in the

:02:33. > :02:36.first few minutes and the Pumas capitalised. England fought back and

:02:37. > :02:42.you talked about the composure to execute this try and get back into

:02:43. > :02:47.the game. Great turnover. Genge, the loosehead from the Tigers, turning

:02:48. > :02:55.the ball over. He had a wonderful game. Not his first cap. He was

:02:56. > :03:00.immense. Great hands from Young Williams. It was amazing, Lozowski

:03:01. > :03:04.does a great break. He knows where the space is coming, fought.

:03:05. > :03:09.Composure on the ball, everyone looking to off-load. Jonny May

:03:10. > :03:14.doesn't panic. Ford, off his left hand and the way he goes. Marland

:03:15. > :03:22.Yarde, I'd say the second half brought him into the game. Great

:03:23. > :03:26.score and it started from the turnover. Classy from George Ford,

:03:27. > :03:34.encapsulate it by this pass. He sees it and he executes, he has the skill

:03:35. > :03:38.set. Attack wise, he's brilliant. Excellence personified. In defence,

:03:39. > :03:43.a bit weak but in that situation, under pressure with the expectation,

:03:44. > :03:47.he delivered. Eight tries in 11th for Marland Yarde that made his

:03:48. > :03:51.debut in Argentina Froch years ago. Everyone is going to love that

:03:52. > :03:58.opportunity against a 16 stone prop, in quicksand. End-to-end stuff

:03:59. > :04:02.wasn't it, Clive? It takes two teams, you could see Argentina

:04:03. > :04:10.moving the game on but times it back to type. The really got some

:04:11. > :04:17.fantastic players. -- they've really got. Nigel Owens is on the spot,

:04:18. > :04:20.doesn't need a television match official. The power of the

:04:21. > :04:24.Argentinian performance. In many ways they went away from that in the

:04:25. > :04:30.second half and I'm surprised, it cost them the game. England toughed

:04:31. > :04:34.it out. They have powerful guys. This is a team England will play in

:04:35. > :04:38.the World Cup in a couple of years' time. A lot of lessons learned by

:04:39. > :04:42.both teams. 20 stone, six feet seven, there is no stopping

:04:43. > :04:56.Lavanini. Not even all three of us around this table! I'm ruling myself

:04:57. > :05:00.out, I don't fancy my chances! Jonny May, is he going to be disappointed?

:05:01. > :05:05.This moment of magic from Henry Slade. We talked about ten, 12 and

:05:06. > :05:10.13, all of them fly-halves. They can see everything. They can play in a

:05:11. > :05:16.way that expresses themselves and brings the rest of the backline into

:05:17. > :05:19.play. That touch was so deft, beautifully balanced and Jonny May.

:05:20. > :05:25.This was the highlight of the match. Henry Slade, what he did was world

:05:26. > :05:29.class. He made the Argentinian defence just go and then to have the

:05:30. > :05:35.confidence and ability to put the ball through for May to touch down.

:05:36. > :05:39.Slade had a great game. In the context of the tour, we talked about

:05:40. > :05:44.how big a challenge it is for Eddie Jones, shorn of some experienced

:05:45. > :05:48.players. Jonny May, for example, he made his debut four years ago and

:05:49. > :05:54.look where he is now. He was on this tour four years ago and got his

:05:55. > :05:58.first cap, like many players. This is great for Eddie Jones, for a

:05:59. > :06:04.coach to have head-to-head with somebody you are playing in two

:06:05. > :06:08.years' time and go head-to-head, great. This is a massive bonus for

:06:09. > :06:13.England, because of how they played. Some young players have really

:06:14. > :06:17.stepped up to the mark. If you just tuned in, there are more tries to

:06:18. > :06:23.come! Is a bit like a highlights show. Argentina, you're thinking

:06:24. > :06:28.that they are under pressure, England, and they might lose it

:06:29. > :06:33.here. Bouncing back the way they did in the second half. A three-minute

:06:34. > :06:38.period when Argentina scored two tries. Solomona, not happy, he has

:06:39. > :06:45.come on and he let them go past him. De la Fuente, scoring a wonderful

:06:46. > :06:49.try. It was soft and the scramble didn't get there in time. And this

:06:50. > :06:54.moment you could have expected a young inexperienced team to crumble

:06:55. > :06:57.but they stayed in there. The defensive coach was having a good

:06:58. > :07:03.chat with Solomona after this because he was defending in the

:07:04. > :07:09.first channel position and he got too wide, creating the slip.

:07:10. > :07:12.Argentina running inside straight line, unless you are square, you

:07:13. > :07:18.have no chance. Disappointing to come on for your first start and you

:07:19. > :07:23.have been run over. I was going to say, we know what happens at the end

:07:24. > :07:25.of the game but if you are Denny Solomona, you're probably thinking

:07:26. > :07:31.this is not what I wanted on my debut. No time to get used to the

:07:32. > :07:35.pace of the game, you are a winger and then you are in that channel. He

:07:36. > :07:41.must have done it in training. He has some involvement in the second

:07:42. > :07:44.try, two minutes later. You think, can he bounce back, can England

:07:45. > :07:52.bounceback? The nature of the game, to and throw. If the All Blacks

:07:53. > :07:56.score this try, we talk about it being one of the best tries of the

:07:57. > :08:05.evening. Sometimes you overemphasise the qualities but this is brilliant

:08:06. > :08:09.hands from Argentina. Solomona was out of position, he couldn't get

:08:10. > :08:12.back. We've seen the brilliance of the Pumas in the World Cup when they

:08:13. > :08:16.got to the semifinals and they scored tries like this against

:08:17. > :08:19.Ireland. We know what they're capable of and Tuculet was one of

:08:20. > :08:24.the players of the tournament, his skill and pace and how he can see

:08:25. > :08:28.everything. Magnificent, from your own 22, scoring like that, the

:08:29. > :08:34.support is brilliant and it makes the drive. Solomona will be

:08:35. > :08:41.disappointed. Heaslip there as well. We can criticise him -- he slipped

:08:42. > :08:47.there. He's a rugby league player and he wasn't used to that. This was

:08:48. > :08:53.a great score, amazing try. Great off-loading. They've learned this by

:08:54. > :08:57.playing the best New Zealand and South African and Australian teams.

:08:58. > :09:01.They are moving their game forward but they will be shattered losing

:09:02. > :09:04.against England. It has been a game plan built on muscle previously but

:09:05. > :09:08.they showed in the World Cup that they can throw it about and they

:09:09. > :09:12.have got that by playing the best teams. Being in the Championship

:09:13. > :09:16.tournament, they were not going to succeed by playing the old style so

:09:17. > :09:21.the coaches and players have bought into, we must expand. Every team

:09:22. > :09:25.knows you are not scoring two or three tries, you are unlikely to win

:09:26. > :09:30.against the best teams and they've taken that on. We've seen the

:09:31. > :09:36.benefits. England scored a fantastic try to get back in it and George

:09:37. > :09:41.Ford, brilliant from him. You're just thinking, this could be the

:09:42. > :09:50.moment, the turnover. Ford, the composure. That pass from Francis

:09:51. > :09:56.was fantastic. Just an amazing try. Ford had one of those dream nights.

:09:57. > :09:59.The defence, a lot of players would have kicked it away. He looked for

:10:00. > :10:04.support and the handling was fantastic. We've not seen this from

:10:05. > :10:11.England for a long time. Board showing real gas, -- George Ford

:10:12. > :10:15.showing real gas. Did you think he would make it? No! You watch the

:10:16. > :10:21.game today and in moments when the ball is turned over, some players

:10:22. > :10:24.look lost but because you've got so many ballplayers in the backline of

:10:25. > :10:29.England, particularly the inside channels, even when Francis comes

:10:30. > :10:36.on, you've got another ballplayer replacing another and nothing is out

:10:37. > :10:39.of sync, it's a continuation. That interplay, the association, they

:10:40. > :10:45.read each other and knew what they were going to do. The linking was

:10:46. > :10:49.fantastic. Clive, would you be furious, if you are the Argentina

:10:50. > :10:56.coach and you went for a drop goal instead of eating up the clock? Yes,

:10:57. > :11:01.it was one of those moments, as a team you should practice for this.

:11:02. > :11:04.This is the gaming way, there's no need for the drop goal. They had the

:11:05. > :11:11.penalty so they would get the three points. You've got to keep talking

:11:12. > :11:16.to Nigel Owens, have we still got an bondage? You don't take the clock

:11:17. > :11:21.down -- have you still got and granted? They had the drop goal.

:11:22. > :11:28.Sanchez did a drop goal from 50 yards, why are you doing that? Big

:11:29. > :11:32.decision from the Argentinian team that cost them dearly and England

:11:33. > :11:38.took full advantage. Pressure, expectation, being at home. How come

:11:39. > :11:43.this England team is still in with us? We should be many points ahead.

:11:44. > :11:49.I think it weighed on them. Is it that or is it game management? Chris

:11:50. > :11:52.Robshaw, the many decisions and conundrums he gave himself in the

:11:53. > :11:57.autumn test a few years ago and in the Rugby World Cup. Game

:11:58. > :12:01.management, you can again mistake once, but not twice. This is a very

:12:02. > :12:05.experienced Argentina team, Hernandez is one of the most

:12:06. > :12:10.experienced players in the world, and a very experienced coaching

:12:11. > :12:13.team. Why would you do that? Even without rehearsing it, you think

:12:14. > :12:19.you're going to score a try, run down the clock, the referee has his

:12:20. > :12:25.arm out. The moment Nigel Evans said you're going to lose it, get three

:12:26. > :12:31.points. It cost them the game. It's a mindset, for me, the sea change

:12:32. > :12:35.was on 56 minutes, scoring a try, 15 minutes, they scored the try, they

:12:36. > :12:43.are on the momentum, England on the back foot. 56 minutes, attacking, in

:12:44. > :12:46.England's 22 and they go for the drop goal. They wipe out England if

:12:47. > :12:51.they got five points and the conversion. England heads would have

:12:52. > :12:54.dropped because that would be three tries in nine minutes and very

:12:55. > :13:00.little chance of them coming back. The mindset of the Pumas changed on

:13:01. > :13:03.56 minutes. Beautiful for England because here comes the fairy tale,

:13:04. > :13:08.Denny Solomona. Astonishing end to the game. You look at the clock,

:13:09. > :13:17.Launchbury, the skill level is fantastic. This is Boyzone star.

:13:18. > :13:28.First cap for England and amazing finish -- boys own stuff. Fantastic

:13:29. > :13:37.again, Francis Cummins here. That wasn't a missed tackle, he just

:13:38. > :13:41.bounced him off. -- Francis, here. When you go to Eddie Jones in the

:13:42. > :13:44.box, he isn't jumping around celebrating, he is screaming about

:13:45. > :13:48.what is happening from the restart. He is thinking what he should be

:13:49. > :13:52.doing which I don't think is happening to the Argentina coach.

:13:53. > :13:57.The noise from Sale and the media about this guy coming across, he is

:13:58. > :14:00.scoring tries from impossible situations, making magic. When he

:14:01. > :14:05.took the ball, there were three Pumas around him, he bounced off and

:14:06. > :14:10.away he goes. He still switches the ball from one hand to the other, and

:14:11. > :14:19.away he goes. He's been scoring tries like that for Sale and is a

:14:20. > :14:22.continuation. Eddie Jones described Solomona as a flying salmon before

:14:23. > :14:26.the game and you wonder what he will say after. If you are Jack Nowell

:14:27. > :14:32.and Elliot Daly, you are a little bit nervous as to mark you have seen

:14:33. > :14:37.that his weakness is in defence. You need to be all-round in terms of

:14:38. > :14:42.attack and defence in order to hold your position in the national team.

:14:43. > :14:46.But he will score from anywhere, like we saw Chris Ashton a few years

:14:47. > :14:51.ago, from 95 metres, five metres and this kid is the same. Daunting and

:14:52. > :14:55.worrying for ever body else in the northern hemisphere if England are

:14:56. > :15:03.stockpiling these wonderful players. That's not worry too much about

:15:04. > :15:07.that! We'll take it. I think we are. You mentioned Jack Nowell and there

:15:08. > :15:11.will be guys on the Lions tour, the Lions have a great winter and they

:15:12. > :15:15.will be watching this game and seeing this and I just know from the

:15:16. > :15:19.coaching point of view, you don't give away shirts is the and there

:15:20. > :15:23.were some big performances from the English players. That's what it's

:15:24. > :15:26.all about for Eddie Jones. Yes, you find out what you're made up in

:15:27. > :15:30.certain situations and that's as hard as it gets, away from home

:15:31. > :15:36.against the Pumas side who are playing fantastic rugby. I think

:15:37. > :15:39.that the full strength team would have struggled and had a hard

:15:40. > :15:43.encounter here and the Pumas may have raised their game more and even

:15:44. > :15:48.beaten them but this was special for all involved. It appears that Eddie

:15:49. > :15:54.Jones has unearthed another gem in Tom Curry, 18 years old. Your

:15:55. > :15:58.assessment of his performance? Sheer bravery. Andy Robinson was watching

:15:59. > :16:03.him closely, having played in his position and he was brave and tough.

:16:04. > :16:08.They kept him on for a long time. We didn't see much of the ball in his

:16:09. > :16:12.hand but what we saw at the bottom of the rock was fantastic and his

:16:13. > :16:18.defence was fantastic. He is still only 18, imagine him in a few years

:16:19. > :16:24.when he has put on a bit of bulk and speed and pace. Wonderful player.

:16:25. > :16:31.Huge moment, I think he turned the ball over there. Great hit, turning

:16:32. > :16:34.the ball over. It was a dream performance from him. Well done to

:16:35. > :16:38.Eddie for having the bottle to put him in, into a very physical

:16:39. > :16:44.confrontation. Not just a case of playing the 18-year-old. Jonny

:16:45. > :16:48.Wilkinson at 18 was outside-half, where you can protect him but you

:16:49. > :16:52.couldn't protect that guy and he will be battered and bruised but

:16:53. > :16:58.what a wonderful day for him. He made around 12 tackles, missed one,

:16:59. > :17:03.carried the ball half a dozen times. We can't forget that he's 18. He

:17:04. > :17:09.could be overplaying in the under 20 World Cup but Eddie has plucked him,

:17:10. > :17:13.bringing him in and he has held his own in the Premiership, shown he has

:17:14. > :17:17.quality and it is continuing in the international level, which is great

:17:18. > :17:22.news. What's even more amazing, Andy and Eddie spoke about it in

:17:23. > :17:26.commentary, looking at the bench, Argentina's bench, real experience.

:17:27. > :17:32.The England bench, 15 caps and that was Matt Mullan with 15 and the rest

:17:33. > :17:40.of the seven had zero. I think they all came on. Hartley stayed on. He

:17:41. > :17:43.brought them on. That was a big call because the Argentina bench was very

:17:44. > :17:47.experienced and physical. I thought that might carry the game away from

:17:48. > :17:50.England but England played the game perfectly well with the players they

:17:51. > :17:56.had coming on and everybody did very well. A huge day for this group. The

:17:57. > :18:00.good news is that they have another game in seven days' time, it isn't a

:18:01. > :18:06.one-off. You aren't with us next week. I'm going to Argentina! Is a

:18:07. > :18:10.very busy day of international rugby union, let's bring you up to date,

:18:11. > :18:13.and it started so well for the British and Irish Lions, beating the

:18:14. > :18:34.Crusaders, easing the pressure on Warren Gatland.

:18:35. > :18:40.Let's bring you those highlights from Italy Scotland in Singapore.

:18:41. > :18:58.Commentary from Chris Paterson and John Beattie. COMMENTATOR: Barclay

:18:59. > :19:04.has it in the middle. Swenson is a Yarde away. Price turning his man.

:19:05. > :19:08.What a reward for Toolis if he got over the line. Only a couple of

:19:09. > :19:15.inches short. That could have been a trying. Certainly a penalty. --

:19:16. > :19:20.could have been a try. An wonder if Toolis got anywhere near the line.

:19:21. > :19:31.Pulling it back and having another look at it.

:19:32. > :19:40.Now is in there. Price, out wide to Russell with the inside ball to

:19:41. > :19:53.Visser. Back quickly from Dunbar, to Barclay. Ford has knelt with him. --

:19:54. > :20:00.has Nel. Price with that machine-like feeding. Price with the

:20:01. > :20:06.try, the Glasgow Warriors player, the first try of the evening.

:20:07. > :20:18.Starting from the base of the scrum. The first try in Singapore.

:20:19. > :20:31.Russell kicking ahead. Oil and chasing. -- Hoyland chasing. Russell

:20:32. > :20:38.chipping it through to Visser. What a great try. That is unbelievable.

:20:39. > :20:46.Two tries in a couple of minutes at the end of the first half. Russell's

:20:47. > :20:49.licking, pinpoint accuracy. Visser judging the bounce. Scotland, some

:20:50. > :20:57.way to end the half. Phenomenal try, one of the best tries you will see

:20:58. > :21:01.in the international series in June. Between them they knew that was the

:21:02. > :21:06.finish but this started from the kick-off.

:21:07. > :21:24.Toolis again. Influential player this evening. Keeping it going. It

:21:25. > :21:35.is forward. That is the third try of the game. For capitalising -- Ford

:21:36. > :21:42.capitalising there. Try number three.

:21:43. > :21:56.Russell with the little insight pass to tailor, to Hoyland. Oh, boy! The

:21:57. > :22:02.skills on offer. Behind the back flick. Opening them like a can of

:22:03. > :22:22.beans. Ferguson, making those vital couple

:22:23. > :22:25.of metres -- Fagerson. MBanda intercepting, giving it to

:22:26. > :22:31.Campagnaro. Could this be a try? It is. Campagnaro. Loose play from the

:22:32. > :22:36.Scots, the Italians getting their first try of the game, from

:22:37. > :22:42.Campagnaro. The Italians have come alive from the turnover, their best

:22:43. > :22:46.two players. Campagnaro has been heavily involved, he is a threat

:22:47. > :22:56.with the ball in hand. Combining with MBanda to give them their first

:22:57. > :23:10.try. Good scrum. Oh, something happened off the ball.

:23:11. > :23:21.We just saw a player being tossed up in the air. What we've got, after

:23:22. > :23:25.the whistle was blown, 20 lifting him up, passing the horizontal,

:23:26. > :23:30.leaving him in a dangerous position. It is a yellow card. You've got to

:23:31. > :23:36.protect the players. That's the bottom line of international rugby.

:23:37. > :23:55.Steyn. You've got to be really careful. Horne, hit hard, this time

:23:56. > :24:03.by Gega. Hoyland, the little pass, Gregor Townsend is delighted.

:24:04. > :24:07.Another try as Hoyland sneaks in. Excellent, control under a lot of

:24:08. > :24:19.pressure. The Italians coming really quickly. The last play of the game.

:24:20. > :24:27.The Italians. The big replacement, Benvenuti is on. Penalty, they will

:24:28. > :24:34.play on. Looking to the right, Violi. The long pass. Good scoring,

:24:35. > :24:38.if that is a score by the Italians. Esposito. 81 minutes on the clock

:24:39. > :24:48.and the Italians are robbing a little bit of salt into the Scottish

:24:49. > :24:52.wounds. You can see Taylor and Hughes coming in to take the same

:24:53. > :24:57.man. The ball is in the air for a long time. Taylor has tried to

:24:58. > :25:04.overreach the play to shut him down but Esposito does well. Gregor

:25:05. > :25:07.Townsend, the new Scotland coach, says it feels slightly unreal to be

:25:08. > :25:13.the Scotland coach but a good start for him. Excellent, I'm pleased for

:25:14. > :25:18.him. Unlike quite a few coaches he has really earned his stripes, doing

:25:19. > :25:22.the hard yards. I think that the Scottish players have looked forward

:25:23. > :25:27.to him taking over the team. They will be disappointed to concede the

:25:28. > :25:31.try at the end but Italy, a port side today but Scotland were very

:25:32. > :25:34.good. As a Scottish fan I would be very hopeful that they have some

:25:35. > :25:40.good players coming through. Let's go back to Argentina and hear from

:25:41. > :25:46.Eddie Jones. A week ago, we could sit and enjoy it. Could you? Not

:25:47. > :25:49.really. A great result but disappointed with the performance,

:25:50. > :25:55.giving them too many points but what we did show, Aiton of real team

:25:56. > :25:59.ethic today. The young guys coming in, a difficult situation, chasing

:26:00. > :26:04.the game and doing their job brilliantly. The other thing I like,

:26:05. > :26:10.young guys made mistakes but they didn't dwell on them, they got on

:26:11. > :26:13.with the next thing, like Solomona, making two horrific defensive misses

:26:14. > :26:18.but scored a brilliant try. That was great. You must be pleased for him

:26:19. > :26:23.because he may have been thinking that he wouldn't get a chance to

:26:24. > :26:26.show what he can do. 100%. That's when you know that you've got

:26:27. > :26:31.players who are worth persevering with, when they bounce back.

:26:32. > :26:39.Everyone has a bad game or does a bad thing, it is the ability to

:26:40. > :26:43.rebound that is important. Was there the sensible Eddie Jones who

:26:44. > :26:47.thought, let's just nailed the game somehow or did you get carried away?

:26:48. > :26:51.No, I wanted to kick into the corners! But the way that they play,

:26:52. > :26:57.they take risks and that gives you the chance to score tries. Two sides

:26:58. > :27:02.to it. It opens up the game completely. Next week it might be

:27:03. > :27:07.much tighter. I think the referee did a great job. When you came to

:27:08. > :27:12.England did you ever think you would be leading a team that plays like

:27:13. > :27:15.that in such a short space of time? That was always the dream, I've

:27:16. > :27:19.always thought England had good players and I'm even more impressed

:27:20. > :27:24.by the youth coming through. Our aim is not to play like that every week,

:27:25. > :27:28.we want more control but if we get chances to use the ball, we want to

:27:29. > :27:32.use the ball. Well done, Eddie, it was fabulous. It was, indeed. Love

:27:33. > :27:58.hearing from Eddie Jones. And the second test, make a date

:27:59. > :28:02.with us, next Saturday at 8pm. Thank you very much to Sir Clive Woodward

:28:03. > :28:08.and Jeremy Guscott. A good day for us, wins for the Lions, Scotland and

:28:09. > :28:17.England. Good luck to Ireland. Eddie Jones is a happy man thanks to Fort

:28:18. > :28:20.focus -- Ford focus. COMMENTATOR: Little think through and that is a

:28:21. > :28:30.sensational try. Winger against prop. Try, Lavanini. Willey and by

:28:31. > :28:39.Henry Slade. May getting there first -- brilliant by Henry Slade.

:28:40. > :28:42.Argentina's lead grows. Good support, Henry Slade, back to George

:28:43. > :28:52.Ford, who has the place-mac to go all the way. -- pace to go all the

:28:53. > :28:55.way. The power of Solomona, remarkable! Solomona, for England.
