:00:16. > :00:35.This is Gareth Edwards, a dramatic start.

:00:36. > :00:41.Welcome to Twickenham, where England have one eye on the future as they

:00:42. > :00:46.prepare to head off to Argentina without a host of star names, Eddie

:00:47. > :00:50.Jones has chosen a raft of young players who could yet feature at the

:00:51. > :00:53.next World Cup. But there is experience as well with the likes of

:00:54. > :00:57.Chris Robshaw, Danny Care and Rob Ryan, they will need it, because

:00:58. > :01:02.this Barbarians side is seriously strong, and we have Barbarians

:01:03. > :01:06.weather as well, so there could be tries. Andy Robinson and Eddie

:01:07. > :01:19.Butler mandating. COMMENTATOR: England on home turf to

:01:20. > :01:23.face the Barbarians. Whether Eddie Jones has ever said party time on

:01:24. > :01:30.the pitch is open to debate, but he has picked for the future, eight

:01:31. > :01:32.uncapped players in the 15, five in the pack. Chris Robshaw is one of

:01:33. > :01:43.the more experienced of the seven, and he is back as co-captain. Party

:01:44. > :01:53.time as the Barbarians' motto. Keep your eye on Dusautoir, on a farewell

:01:54. > :01:59.tour, and also Stefan Armitage. Serious subplots, but the main aim

:02:00. > :02:07.is to entertain. Seven of the eight England replacements are uncapped,

:02:08. > :02:08.only Richard Wigglesworth is capped. It is a Barbarians tradition to

:02:09. > :02:41.leave room for the untested. WHISTLE

:02:42. > :02:48.CHEERING Players from all over the world, but

:02:49. > :02:54.Manchester is very much in everybody's thoughts. Today's

:02:55. > :02:56.referee is Andy Brace, raised in Wales, lives in Ireland, and capped

:02:57. > :03:14.the Belgium. The old mutual wealth cup is up for

:03:15. > :03:29.grabs. The first catch of the game is made by ISA of Argentina.

:03:30. > :03:34.Scrum-half for Fotuali'i of Bath and Samoa, and the Barbarians five

:03:35. > :03:44.metres from their own line, and now ten metres. Ashley-Cooper, 100 test

:03:45. > :03:58.caps for Australia. Fotuali'i kicks for the first of the

:03:59. > :04:01.game. Good afternoon, Andy Robinson. Good afternoon. It is a perfect

:04:02. > :04:09.match for the young England players to blend into the new systems they

:04:10. > :04:22.are learning. Quick ball of the top Danny Care.

:04:23. > :04:35.Charlie Ewels in the second row, with Isiekwe of Saracens. That is a

:04:36. > :04:39.sign of the inexperience of the side there. Good defensive start of the

:04:40. > :04:51.Barbarians. They are holding him up, bringing

:04:52. > :05:30.him into touch, good defence. Trying to get it through the hands,

:05:31. > :05:31.that was Steyn of South Africa. And altogether more serious duty for

:05:32. > :05:48.Saracens. But the turnover ball for England.

:05:49. > :06:00.Plays it quickly, and finds Mike Brown. He finds space with his boot.

:06:01. > :06:11.He has worked it very well in the end, Alex Goode.

:06:12. > :06:33.Absolute brilliant rugby there, playing for their own line. Nagusa

:06:34. > :06:44.running out, this is one area England will have to watch.

:06:45. > :06:51.I like to see them off-loading and running hard, I don't think we want

:06:52. > :06:56.to see him kissing the ball. The line running across the field,

:06:57. > :07:01.Jackson Wilton defending on the wing, and a great one-handed carry,

:07:02. > :07:08.superb off-load, and look at the support load of the Barbarians. Adam

:07:09. > :07:17.Ashley-Cooper, and eventually a high tackle ends the attack. But this is

:07:18. > :07:21.true Barbarians rugby, great line, support play, they are anticipating

:07:22. > :07:24.the line breaks. Already we see Madigan do the chip, great hands,

:07:25. > :07:45.great vision. Kuechly taken. Isa staying on his feet. Fotuali'i

:07:46. > :07:57.weights, and again, Madigan involved in the break-out.

:07:58. > :08:06.Solid tackling by England on this occasion.

:08:07. > :08:22.Good clear route work by the Barbarians. Dusautoir offering

:08:23. > :08:28.himself. Good work for the Barbarians again, they are putting

:08:29. > :08:33.their passes together neatly. And the length. One of the stars already

:08:34. > :08:56.of the opening minutes, Nagusa. Hibberd waits, but it has come to

:08:57. > :09:10.Nariashvili. Ashley-Cooper goes in to help with the clear route work.

:09:11. > :09:13.They have already made two tackles, and in the end, working really hard

:09:14. > :09:19.in the tackle contest to win the penalty. We are seeing that a lot

:09:20. > :09:27.more from the wings, their ability to tackle hard in the breakdown.

:09:28. > :09:33.George Ford, played in Wales for the Ospreys.

:09:34. > :09:43.Here comes the Barbarians again, Johnston off-loading, Jeremy thrush

:09:44. > :09:50.and support. And Madigan, and a chance, Isa goes on his own. They

:09:51. > :10:01.are mixing it up, not always going wide, sometimes keeping it tight.

:10:02. > :10:09.Nagusa, and the off-load, and Alex Goode just knocks on, and the

:10:10. > :10:18.Barbarians denied for is. What England must get right, the

:10:19. > :10:34.great off-loads, the great running, good pass. Unlucky on the off-load,

:10:35. > :10:41.back inside, just knocks on. The Barbarians midfield drive hard, that

:10:42. > :10:50.is a wonderful run, handy pick up play from Fotuali'i. Hibbard.

:10:51. > :11:07.Steyn saw the danger coming and knew he had to take the contact. Census

:11:08. > :11:28.Johnston arrives, it has gone forward to him. No, it hasn't. Flat.

:11:29. > :11:40.Hibbard lets it go, and Adam Ashley-Cooper, and now then, this is

:11:41. > :11:46.Nathan Earle. Earle has knocked it on, the Barbarians with a really

:11:47. > :11:55.dangerous advantage here. Adam Ashley-Cooper was the man tracking

:11:56. > :12:06.back. David in support, and way down to where Care is covering.

:12:07. > :12:09.End-to-end stuff, getting their first chance to make

:12:10. > :12:15.a, unfortunately knocked on in the process. It would appear that speed

:12:16. > :12:24.is not going to be a problem for Nathan Earle. Adam Ashley-Cooper,

:12:25. > :12:36.his opposite number. Dusautoir plays scrum-half.

:12:37. > :12:45.Madigan, and Goode ships it on, but that is a good tackle. He is

:12:46. > :12:49.defending really well, Nathan Earle. Barbarians have the right chance,

:12:50. > :12:53.but just getting a little bit flat, so if you get off the line as Nathan

:12:54. > :12:57.Earle does there, it puts pressure on the pass. The Barbarians need to

:12:58. > :13:04.be attached deeper. Earle putting in a huge hit, great technique, great

:13:05. > :13:13.line speed, and the outside Barbarians line players need to be a

:13:14. > :13:23.little deeper to get that pass away. This time it works well enough.

:13:24. > :13:40.The chasers are mesa And brown, and Nathan Earle has had an outstanding

:13:41. > :13:49.start to the match and scores the first try. Cracking counter attack

:13:50. > :13:53.from England, Jonny May making up for the earlier mistake, and that is

:13:54. > :14:01.where we like to see him, running in space. He is so quick, finds the

:14:02. > :14:04.outside channels. The outside England backs really working hard to

:14:05. > :14:10.get behind the ball, and that gives them numbers on the outside, as you

:14:11. > :14:15.see here. Good first pass from Haley, Earle getting a second touch,

:14:16. > :14:23.and that is key to this. Brilliant passing from James to put him in.

:14:24. > :14:31.Just a little straighten by Mike Haley meant there was extra space.

:14:32. > :14:41.George Ford adds the two points. England 7-0 ahead.

:14:42. > :15:16.Isiekwe was the one who won the line-out. That is an England ploy

:15:17. > :15:20.that they have, whenever they are contesting at the back of a line-out

:15:21. > :15:27.on the opposition's throw, they will put a back up.

:15:28. > :15:31.Good to see Dylan Hartley there with Eddie Jones, sat together, captain

:15:32. > :15:41.and coach. This to put England into double

:15:42. > :15:53.figures. Only seven points in the first 27 minutes.

:15:54. > :16:06.An area where George Ford days to improve at international level is

:16:07. > :16:23.his goal-kicking. Another missed opportunity for him there.

:16:24. > :16:32.Quicker ball for England. George Ford onto it. Sam James. Mike Brown

:16:33. > :16:43.stays down, it's an advantage being played. And there might be an

:16:44. > :16:47.incident of foul play. There was a late hit on Mike Brown there. I have

:16:48. > :16:56.a flag. I didn't see where the contact was

:16:57. > :17:08.made, you need to check whether contact was made. Take by who? It

:17:09. > :17:19.was on 15. Ben White, the touch judge. Possible take-out by

:17:20. > :17:29.Barbarians on white 15. Fru and goes through on Mike Brown -- Fruean. You

:17:30. > :17:38.see there, he just follows through on the tackle without Mike getting

:17:39. > :17:44.the ball. Here is another angle. Clearly taken off the ball. So

:17:45. > :17:53.penalty only unless you can see otherwise. That is fine. If it is

:17:54. > :18:03.given, it is going to be a penalty only. Wigglesworth warming up.

:18:04. > :18:06.Taken out of the ball OK? Penalty over here. Or advantage, it's one or

:18:07. > :18:15.the other. Mike Brown will have to go off for a

:18:16. > :18:22.head injury assessment. Off goes the England fullback, on

:18:23. > :18:47.comes Richard Wigglesworth. England with only two backs on their

:18:48. > :18:49.bench. Mike Haley already on in the centre. Richard Wigglesworth, a

:18:50. > :19:10.scrum-half, goes... Somewhere. George Ford... Has his sights

:19:11. > :19:26.adjusted. England up to ten points. Hibbard on the 22. Dusautoir. Fruean

:19:27. > :19:41.has dropped it. The Barbarians having to throw the

:19:42. > :19:46.ball to the front of the line-out because of really good pressure by

:19:47. > :19:49.England and that enables the England backline to get some good line

:19:50. > :19:56.speed. Fruean knocks on in the tackle. England have done really

:19:57. > :19:58.well in defence in this game. Not conceding, even with all the ball

:19:59. > :20:12.Barbarians have had. George Ford on the left of the

:20:13. > :20:15.screen relays his information to his two centres. Sam James and Mike

:20:16. > :20:27.Haley. Doesn't really mean anything because

:20:28. > :20:29.England have won themselves a penalty at the scrum. The England

:20:30. > :20:43.front row working very well. Collier was going forward, Nariashvili

:20:44. > :20:48.hinged to push into the floor. -- push him to the floor.

:20:49. > :21:00.Good ball down for Care. James Comey Haley, working well, the sale

:21:01. > :21:07.players. -- James, Haley, working well. It comes to George Ford, to

:21:08. > :21:12.put the ball in behind Goode. Not too much of an advantage, so we will

:21:13. > :21:22.have the penalty against Jeremy Thrush.

:21:23. > :21:36.Well, it hasn't really caught by a yet, Andy. At first 20 minutes, the

:21:37. > :21:41.Barbarians fantastic. They have run out of steam after 20 minutes and

:21:42. > :21:44.the English defence, the work they have put in is really paying

:21:45. > :21:47.dividends for them. What it has meant is the Barbarians have started

:21:48. > :21:51.to get frustrated, giving a few penalties away in the tackle

:21:52. > :21:56.contest, so I think England have had a really good half.

:21:57. > :22:04.That is two out of three with his penalties, George Ford. England at

:22:05. > :22:12.half time ago in with a healthy 13-0 lead.

:22:13. > :22:15.Een Madigan, bound for Bristol next season, gets the second half under

:22:16. > :22:21.way. Jonny May find himself quickly

:22:22. > :22:48.position. -- in position. In the end, it was an important

:22:49. > :22:53.tackle by Isa. Adam Ashley-Cooper goes back. And is tackled by Mike

:22:54. > :23:16.Brown. Albacete opts against the kicker.

:23:17. > :23:29.Lives it instead for Fruean. A big kick, too.

:23:30. > :23:38.That trouble. There was a little bit of rain at half-time, just to

:23:39. > :23:44.freshen up the pitch, make the ball a little slippery.

:23:45. > :23:50.He saw that in the first couple of contacts that happen, because of the

:23:51. > :23:59.rain cover the ball slips out of the hands. Carried in one hand in the

:24:00. > :24:01.first half, now two hands on the ball. Haley trying to counter

:24:02. > :24:25.attack, the ball is stripped and Nagusa straightaway, knock-on.

:24:26. > :24:34.Fruean very busy in this opening sector. Alex Goode, Adam

:24:35. > :24:36.Ashley-Cooper for the line. The slide should see him home. Try is

:24:37. > :24:49.awarded. The try comes from the Nagusa

:24:50. > :24:54.off-load. Managed to get on the outside, Fruean with a really good

:24:55. > :24:58.handoff, gets the ball to Goode. The timing of the pass is exquisite.

:24:59. > :25:06.Nathan Earle does his best to get back. Ashley-Cooper scores in the

:25:07. > :25:15.corner. Really good hands. Friended by Fruean.

:25:16. > :25:23.Watch there, really good handoff, two hands on the ball, gets the

:25:24. > :25:35.passer way, Goode exemplary with the timing of the pass.

:25:36. > :25:46.Madigan curls it in sweetly. England's lead cut to 13-7. For the

:25:47. > :25:55.Barbarians, on comes big Joe Tekori. Genge couldn't quite time it. He had

:25:56. > :27:03.up. There. -- he had a full start. Fotuali'i has tackle brilliantly for

:27:04. > :27:18.Baffle year. The Barbarians trying to give the ball away. -- for Bath

:27:19. > :27:22.all year. Eddie Jones hoping to seeing them get their attacking

:27:23. > :27:28.phases much better, a little sharper and Danny Care straightaway

:27:29. > :27:32.executing two very good passes. Look at this pass now, really flat,

:27:33. > :27:33.bringing Ford onto the ball, bringing Beaumont over the gain

:27:34. > :27:50.line. Brits to throw. The new hooker finds

:27:51. > :28:32.his target, Madigan. Joe Tekori, fresh on the field. It

:28:33. > :28:41.came loose and it's gone to Jeremy Thrush. And there will be a check,

:28:42. > :28:49.no doubt. The black and white shirts are celebrating. Go ahead, Andy. I

:28:50. > :28:51.just want to check if five has lost that forward. Just checking if the

:28:52. > :29:00.ball went forward. It looks to me like the ball has

:29:01. > :29:13.gone backwards. Show that one again, slightly

:29:14. > :29:29.different. The ball doesn't actually hit the

:29:30. > :29:35.floor, it is an England knee that knocked it up. It looks to me like

:29:36. > :29:44.he has lost control of the ball. Has it gone forward before it hits?

:29:45. > :29:52.Here is the other angle, Andy. It goes to ground, he has lost the ball

:29:53. > :29:58.now. I just want to check if he has lost control backwards. Just showing

:29:59. > :30:01.you hear, Andy. The ball does go forward before it hits the knee of

:30:02. > :30:06.the England player, so scrum to white. Control of the ball lost, and

:30:07. > :30:18.it went forward before it hit the England knee. Vern Cotter shakes his

:30:19. > :30:22.head ruefully. Jeremy Thrush denied. The Barbarians are starting to bring

:30:23. > :30:30.their forwards into the game, going over the gain line.

:30:31. > :30:37.Just lost control for us, so scrum white. Real powerful carry their

:30:38. > :31:13.from Tekori. That took a bit of time to get

:31:14. > :31:24.going, but the England maul is shifting, and Genge comes away. Now

:31:25. > :31:31.it is George Ford. A very good kick, a slight groan when it went off his

:31:32. > :31:36.boot, but England make 50 metres. His kicking out of hand has been

:31:37. > :31:40.exemplary. What a way to executing your own half, a powerful maul,

:31:41. > :31:42.Robshaw working hard, great pass, and Ford finding the space,

:31:43. > :31:53.brilliant kick. That is very well taken by Isa,

:31:54. > :32:09.because England read that one. Will Jonny May... ? No, he won't.

:32:10. > :32:42.Too far into touch for him to catch and go quickly.

:32:43. > :32:50.WP Nel comes onto the field, and he has been a long time out of the

:32:51. > :32:51.game, South African name, South African accent, Scottish

:32:52. > :33:07.international, and very good. And part of the Barbarians operation

:33:08. > :33:13.put in turnover. Jeremy Forrest worked really hard on that ball. A

:33:14. > :33:19.bit of niggle coming into the game as England try to tighten up, you

:33:20. > :33:26.can set Tekori they're getting a bit aggressive. Eddie Jones likes a bit

:33:27. > :33:34.of feistiness in his team, and to see Tom Curry standing his ground is

:33:35. > :33:43.good to see. Free kick to England, WP Nel, and it continues. The

:33:44. > :33:49.Bristol boy never far from it. He has played really well. Genge is

:33:50. > :33:55.getting in the faces of the Barbarians team, because he is

:33:56. > :34:00.winning the inches in the scrum. Using his left arm to push backwards

:34:01. > :34:01.and the free kick. England want to keep it confrontational, they go for

:34:02. > :34:25.the scrummage. Genge against WP Nel, and it is

:34:26. > :34:37.another free kick, but more than that, it's a yellow card. Number

:34:38. > :34:43.one, of. It is Nariashvili who is off for ten, the referee clearly

:34:44. > :34:54.frustrated. He doesn't believe it is his fault.

:34:55. > :35:01.Your team is not working with me, that is the reason why he has just

:35:02. > :35:16.left the field. It has gone wrong for England at their attacking

:35:17. > :35:19.line-out. Fotuali'i goes for touch. Always disappointing when you kick

:35:20. > :35:25.to the corner, and you turn the line-out.

:35:26. > :35:38.Jackson Wilton throws, and it is an overthrow. Stephane Robert itch but

:35:39. > :35:41.a boot to it, -- Stefan Armitage gets a boot to it, goes a long way

:35:42. > :35:54.around, takes a ride. Ford waiting for it, and that has

:35:55. > :36:02.gone forward, and it is a chance for Nagusa. Mike Haley goes back, Nagusa

:36:03. > :36:06.in hot pursuit, but there has been a foot in touch, so we go back. No

:36:07. > :36:22.advantage. Will Collier comes out so from that

:36:23. > :36:29.contact. That was a bit unfortunate for Nagusa, just wondering where is

:36:30. > :36:39.the foot into. He is all right there. Went much then he puts a foot

:36:40. > :36:42.into touch, doesn't he? He does, through and targeting the ball, he

:36:43. > :36:49.has not put his foot in touch, he is a bit frustrated by that, but Haley

:36:50. > :37:10.had got back and stop try anyhow. Singleton throws. Hayes catches.

:37:11. > :37:18.Goode with the kick. And Earle so close, so close. Nagusa just flew

:37:19. > :37:23.off the line to target Ford. He got into the spring position, and we

:37:24. > :37:30.watch it here. He hurls himself of the line to stop what was

:37:31. > :37:37.potentially a trifle England. Great technique from him as well. Just

:37:38. > :37:42.keeps him going backwards, penalty to the Barbarians.

:37:43. > :38:11.Not just the thump of the boot, a little from the mouth as well, he

:38:12. > :38:32.has been warned by the referee. To back to gets the ball away.

:38:33. > :38:37.England have changed their hooker, it is Ashley-Cooper against Mike

:38:38. > :38:42.Brown and it has gone loose. Inches away from a fantastic score. That

:38:43. > :38:49.would have been the catch of the year. Eyes on the ball for both

:38:50. > :39:07.players. It looks like Brown does enough just to distract him.

:39:08. > :39:12.The charge by Marc Wilson, safe delivery back to George Ford, and a

:39:13. > :39:20.bit of pressure. Ford safely there. And support from

:39:21. > :39:58.Wilson. England around the halfway line not

:39:59. > :40:03.really getting far beyond it. And it has gone scrappy, they are a bit

:40:04. > :40:17.further back into their own half. Still their for Danny Kerry.

:40:18. > :40:34.Alex Goode beats the first man, good pass as well. Good, Madigan, Nagusa.

:40:35. > :40:41.Oh, brilliant, absolutely brilliant. Steyn loses his footing, he has the

:40:42. > :40:47.power to make the ball available. The steel is good, says the referee,

:40:48. > :40:55.Danny Care, Jonny May, still going. George Ford, Charlie Ewels. And

:40:56. > :41:04.Isiekwe scores on his first big outing in an England shirt. A

:41:05. > :41:12.brilliant turnover from Tom Curry. And from that turnover, ten seconds

:41:13. > :41:18.later, they just had to wait for Isiekwe to get under the posts.

:41:19. > :41:22.England's Chase was really good. Just watch Curry in the tackle

:41:23. > :41:28.contest, Ford able to stop Steyn again, and look at Curry, he has got

:41:29. > :41:32.hold of the ball and that is why the referee allows him to play it.

:41:33. > :41:39.Really good technique, he is strong with his legs, affects the turnover

:41:40. > :41:48.from the two second rows, they didn't try to score. The Barbarians

:41:49. > :41:51.were very unhappy that the referee didn't go and have another look at

:41:52. > :41:57.it, but 23-7. But it's not a straight swap at

:41:58. > :42:27.scrum-half. Nathan Earle comes off. The uncapped number eight, Gal on.

:42:28. > :42:32.Rare possession in the second half, Madigan, advantage being played.

:42:33. > :42:39.Adam Ashley-Cooper, brilliant pass. It is a penalty to the Barbarians.

:42:40. > :42:42.How unlucky was Danny Kaye. He saw the past coming, just couldn't get

:42:43. > :43:03.two plans to it. That is the second penalty from you.

:43:04. > :43:08.Discipline here. George McGuigan had a second ticking off. Are we going

:43:09. > :43:21.to see a Barbarians move here? Looks like it. It hasn't gone very far.

:43:22. > :43:35.The counter ruck by England is ferocious. Piernaar. And again.

:43:36. > :43:51.Scott Brick, back to Piernaar, not gone to England.

:43:52. > :44:04.Brits to Piernaar. No advantage. Definitely no advantage for him,

:44:05. > :44:13.just back from injury and bundled out of the way. England are really

:44:14. > :44:15.showing their fitness and credit to Paul in the way he has called this

:44:16. > :44:22.defence to work together, young players coming in, working to get

:44:23. > :44:23.back to their feet, they are hunting tackles, that is what England pride

:44:24. > :44:41.themselves on. Penalty against the new England

:44:42. > :44:58.front row. Another little trick, or...? No. The

:44:59. > :45:24.corner, or as close as the line-out can be, five metres out.

:45:25. > :45:37.They go along. And it has come down Vea Jeremy Thrush. Dusautoir and his

:45:38. > :45:48.last but one game. Joe Tekori drives and is over. The trick play used in

:45:49. > :45:56.the line-out again. To Cory gets a really good off-load, the pass from

:45:57. > :46:06.Dusautoir. Madigan takes no time at all to convert the try.

:46:07. > :46:14.Lovely to see the great work of Dusautoir. A great stalwart to lose

:46:15. > :46:26.rugby and there he is, getting the ball to to Cory. -- to Joe Tekori.

:46:27. > :46:31.England have two and a half minutes to hold out. They do have this

:46:32. > :46:47.9-point cushion. Can the Barbarians score one more?

:46:48. > :47:02.Dusautoir picks up the pass. Down it comes from Madigan.

:47:03. > :47:12.It comes to an England player. Taken on by Chris Robshaw. Will Spencer

:47:13. > :47:21.drives it on. England have the penalty. Richard Wigglesworth will

:47:22. > :47:39.not take it quickly. Not always been the happiest place

:47:40. > :47:48.for England to go with a penalty kick. It hasn't but it is a great

:47:49. > :47:51.opportunity to score with the ball. Charlie yours has had a good game,

:47:52. > :48:09.the second row. -- Macron. They have a spare scrum-half, Danny

:48:10. > :48:10.Care wearing nine. Knock-on. Chance for the Barbarians to break out in

:48:11. > :48:18.style. Tom Currie, what a good game Currie

:48:19. > :48:42.has had. Chris Robshaw, ex-captain and

:48:43. > :48:53.current co-captain. Penalty advantage. Five seconds of normal

:48:54. > :49:02.time. No time left. England, though, will score again through Danny Care.

:49:03. > :49:06.Finishing as winger, started scrum-half. England have ruled the

:49:07. > :49:12.second half and complete the win in style with a try by Danny Care.

:49:13. > :49:22.England's third try coming from a turnover. And from that, a great tip

:49:23. > :49:27.on pass from Curry to Ford-Robinson, carrying strongly. The Barbarians

:49:28. > :49:34.defence in disarray. And Ford just times his pass perfectly for Care,

:49:35. > :49:38.his half-back partner to score in the corner. England, whilst they

:49:39. > :49:41.haven't attacked as well from the set piece, their counterattacking,

:49:42. > :49:45.where their three tries have come, has been exceptional and it has come

:49:46. > :49:49.about through really good defence. Good passing, the attitude to

:49:50. > :49:52.counterattack, move the ball, and that is where England have found the

:49:53. > :49:57.defensive weaknesses of the Barbarians team. Eddie Jones and the

:49:58. > :50:02.England players every reason to be happy with the result. George Ford,

:50:03. > :50:14.last kick of the game. Doesn't matter. The final whistle goes and

:50:15. > :50:22.England have beaten the Barbarians 28-14. Three tries for England, two

:50:23. > :50:26.for the Barbarians. A scratch side against a scratch side played in

:50:27. > :50:31.difficult conditions in the second half, but every reason for Eddie

:50:32. > :50:33.Jones and the England side to head off on tour with spirits high.

:50:34. > :50:45.Confirmation of the final We were playing against a much

:50:46. > :50:50.bigger, athletic team than us and so we needed to play a very smart game

:50:51. > :50:54.of rugby and we adapted that really well and, you know, the players

:50:55. > :50:59.showed plenty of character, they hung in there, guys who haven't

:51:00. > :51:04.played much rugby today. The hooker Singleton has hardly played for

:51:05. > :51:07.Worcester, played 60 minutes today. That was a serious looking the

:51:08. > :51:12.Barbarians team. A little bit frustrated we couldn't see more from

:51:13. > :51:16.them? The game started off at a real place and we had two opportunities

:51:17. > :51:19.and if we'd score does, it may have been different. There wasn't too

:51:20. > :51:24.much in it, really. The players came off feeling a little bit frustrated,

:51:25. > :51:27.they felt they could have done better or perhaps weren't allowed to

:51:28. > :51:31.do better but I was really happy with the way they put in the full

:51:32. > :51:35.effort. I have been really impressed with everyone who has come into

:51:36. > :51:39.camp, where it 18 or early 30s, everyone has got involved and it is

:51:40. > :51:42.a good environment to come in to and some of these guys, they have been

:51:43. > :51:47.playing well in the Premiership and have waited for this opportunity and

:51:48. > :51:50.I'm sure a couple more will again in two weeks 40 tyre, will to really

:51:51. > :51:54.impress and embraced the opportunity. Suddenly feel a bit old

:51:55. > :51:59.when there are teenagers on the pitch? I did earlier in the week,

:52:00. > :52:04.good to see a couple of the older faces back.

:52:05. > :52:10.Chris Robshaw your back -- Upshaw back at Twickenham as captain for

:52:11. > :52:13.the first time since world cup, how has he carried himself? He has been

:52:14. > :52:17.massively influential, him and George. Even before we announce them

:52:18. > :52:21.as co-captain is, they were doing their job and that is what you want,

:52:22. > :52:26.guys to step up to the mark and accept responsibility. How hard is

:52:27. > :52:30.it a focus on England when you could be one injury away from a possible

:52:31. > :52:34.Lions call-up? We have dealt with that and spoken about that. All of

:52:35. > :52:39.our attention is here with England, we are going to play for England and

:52:40. > :52:42.not worry about anything else. How impressed we with the England

:52:43. > :52:47.side, given her younger it was and the depth of talent available to

:52:48. > :52:52.Eddie Jones? They have done a good job and the strength in depth is

:52:53. > :52:56.impressive. Those boys will be happy with that and pushing for World Cup

:52:57. > :53:00.positions in two years, but it makes Eddie's job a little bit harder.

:53:01. > :53:03.Look at the talent coming through for England in terms of selection,

:53:04. > :53:08.you are spoilt for choice, aren't you? Not really, that is what we

:53:09. > :53:11.want, we want pressure. I want those Lions boys looking over their

:53:12. > :53:16.shoulder and thinking if we don't keep improving, they will have my

:53:17. > :53:22.spot. How optimistic that this young side can go to Argentina away from

:53:23. > :53:25.home, against the Pumas, and win a test series? We know it is going to

:53:26. > :53:30.be tough but we are preparing to win 2-0. We have to be abrasive and

:53:31. > :53:33.convert it and we will be there. Given the talent available to this

:53:34. > :53:36.Barbarians team, this was a true test of this young England side and

:53:37. > :53:40.it stood up really well. Andy Robinson has come down from his

:53:41. > :53:43.commentary position to join me. Who really stood out feel of these young

:53:44. > :53:49.players, eight uncapped players starting for England? I thought they

:53:50. > :53:52.all had positives in their games. Nathan Earle started really well

:53:53. > :53:58.defensively, scored a very good try, he really looked the part. Tom Curry

:53:59. > :54:02.coming off the bench, for him to put in the performance and get the man

:54:03. > :54:05.in the match was exceptional. A lot of the good young players, Collier

:54:06. > :54:09.in the front row stood out ready well, with Singleton, they all did

:54:10. > :54:14.their jobs, but most importantly for me was the way they played as a team

:54:15. > :54:17.and I think for all of them, they didn't look out of place in an

:54:18. > :54:21.England shirt and that is credit personally to the way Paul has put

:54:22. > :54:24.them together defensively but also credit to the Premiership, because

:54:25. > :54:26.these young players have been playing in the Premiership and

:54:27. > :54:31.plying their trade at their clubs and showing they have the skills to

:54:32. > :54:35.play at international level. As a back row yourself, disappointed to

:54:36. > :54:40.see more of Sam Underhill? Great things are expected of him. It is

:54:41. > :54:43.tough on Sam Underhill, a lot has been said about him and Richard Hill

:54:44. > :54:46.has said what a very good player he is. Three or four really good

:54:47. > :54:51.tackles today, big hits that are going on, but he picked an injury a

:54:52. > :54:55.band he picked it up because of his tackling technique. He fires into

:54:56. > :54:59.the tackle and he is pretty reckless sometimes in the way he hits and he

:55:00. > :55:03.has to be careful he made sure he gets the technique spot on because

:55:04. > :55:07.if he misses just like it, you will get the injuries he picks up, the

:55:08. > :55:10.shoulder injury today. How difficult is it that the senior players right

:55:11. > :55:16.now, the likes of Chris Robshaw, knowing they could be an injury away

:55:17. > :55:19.from a possible Lions call-up? Use all the way they played today, it

:55:20. > :55:22.was exemplary, the way they led the team. That is credit to the

:55:23. > :55:27.leadership that Eddie Jones is developing but also to those

:55:28. > :55:31.players. The Barbarians game, having had a long season, do they really

:55:32. > :55:35.want to play? Yes, they do and the way they stepped up and performed,

:55:36. > :55:38.Robshaw, the way he led and enabled the other players to perform

:55:39. > :55:43.coveting the unseen work and George Ford, his kicking out of hand and

:55:44. > :55:46.some of the attacks he set off were very good, so overall, please with

:55:47. > :55:51.the leadership. And that these players, they are playing for

:55:52. > :55:54.England, they have dreams of playing for England and want of a playing

:55:55. > :55:58.well and there is competition for places, they have to play well and

:55:59. > :56:03.they are bringing through the next generation. Fantastic they can play

:56:04. > :56:07.in the way they did. A word about George Ford fly-half. In this exact

:56:08. > :56:10.fixture a year ago, he had a very difficult afternoon. You made of the

:56:11. > :56:14.way he has mature over the 12 months? He put himself under

:56:15. > :56:19.pressure by missing an early kick and credit to him, he came through

:56:20. > :56:22.it by with three or four really good kicks after that and that is where

:56:23. > :56:26.he has to tighten up at international level, he has to make

:56:27. > :56:30.those kicks. For him to be a world-class fly-half, his kicking

:56:31. > :56:34.out of hand is the best in the world currently but his goal-kicking is

:56:35. > :56:38.the area he has got to make sure he is bailing those tough kicks. The

:56:39. > :56:42.Barbarians at Twickenham is one thing, what about this young England

:56:43. > :56:46.team facing the Pumas on their own patch? How difficult is that going

:56:47. > :56:50.to be? One of the areas players won't know a lot is who they are

:56:51. > :56:54.playing against. Today, most of the players they knew and how skilful

:56:55. > :56:59.they work. Most of the Argentinian players, it is a fantastic country

:57:00. > :57:03.to play rugby, Argentina. It is an amateur game, the way the player

:57:04. > :57:05.game, the spirit is all there and they are, they have some really

:57:06. > :57:11.powerful forwards but also some quick, skilful backs so it is a

:57:12. > :57:14.really good mix. Actually, I toured Argentina in 1990, loved every

:57:15. > :57:17.minute of it and I have been back three or four times coaching with

:57:18. > :57:20.England and Scotland and it's a brilliant place to go and play, but

:57:21. > :57:25.beware, because the Pumas are tremendous in the way they play the

:57:26. > :57:27.game. When the crowd gets behind them, they are sensational to watch

:57:28. > :57:32.and England will have to defend as well as they did today to win the

:57:33. > :57:37.two games. How much will this tour have added edge given these two

:57:38. > :57:41.teams were recently done together for the World Cup in 2019? There

:57:42. > :57:45.will be real edge, one team has to get the bragging rights. They will

:57:46. > :57:48.be testing each other out. England not going with a full squad, they

:57:49. > :57:53.will learn a lot about Argentina and how to play in Argentina. I am

:57:54. > :57:57.looking forward to see how the players grow together playing test

:57:58. > :58:00.match rugby. It is OK playing the Barbarians but test rugby against a

:58:01. > :58:05.very proud nation, it will be exciting to see how they perform.

:58:06. > :58:09.The England squad for that tour to Argentina is named tomorrow and Andy

:58:10. > :58:12.Robinson will be part of our team for those two games, both of which

:58:13. > :58:19.you can see live on BBC Two. Coverage of the first test is on

:58:20. > :58:22.Saturday the 10th of June. And you can spin the Bank Holiday Monday

:58:23. > :58:28.catching up with a best of the action from the the Diamond League.

:58:29. > :58:32.Mo Farah amongst those in action. That is followed straight afterwards

:58:33. > :58:37.by golf, with highlights from the PGA championship at Wentworth, also

:58:38. > :58:40.on BBC Two. England might have established players away with the

:58:41. > :58:42.Lions, but the next generation are snapping at their heels. Goodbye for

:58:43. > :59:07.now. We need to trap the beast

:59:08. > :59:11.which killed him.
