0:00:09 > 0:00:15Welcome to Twickenham where England have their first match in three

0:00:15 > 0:00:24years ago Samoa. This time last week England managed to record a

0:00:24 > 0:00:28record-equalling fifth consecutive win over Australia.Millimetres.

0:00:28 > 0:00:38Marginal.Every opportunity has gone their way. What a finish. England

0:00:38 > 0:00:45make it five in a row.So a job well done so far for England who will try

0:00:45 > 0:00:56and make it three wins in a row. Samoa tell a very different story.

0:00:56 > 0:01:01They lost in Romania last week. It was actually discovered after the

0:01:01 > 0:01:06match that the pitch was 10 metres narrower than normal. But they have

0:01:06 > 0:01:09bigger concerns, in particular surrounding their financial

0:01:09 > 0:01:13situation and who in world rugby should be supporting them. On the

0:01:13 > 0:01:16pitch they have concerns too. Winless in all six internationals

0:01:16 > 0:01:22this year. They have never beaten England in seven attempts. Although

0:01:22 > 0:01:27they have met on Samoan soil. If they win today it would be their

0:01:27 > 0:01:34100th win at Test level. Eddie Jones said he is building a squad for the

0:01:34 > 0:01:382019 World Cup and he is using this opportunity to experiment with his

0:01:38 > 0:01:48squad. Let's see how the changes pan out with your commentary team.

0:01:48 > 0:01:57COMMENTATOR: It is the haves against the have notes. Samoa come to

0:01:57 > 0:02:00Twickenham understrength, underprepared and under-financed.

0:02:00 > 0:02:04But as their captain said, his players are not look for charity and

0:02:04 > 0:02:06whatever the situation they will play for the jersey.

0:02:06 > 0:02:11whatever the situation they will play for the jersey. Eddie Jones

0:02:11 > 0:02:15said 2017 has been a year for building depth. This selection

0:02:15 > 0:02:34supports that. A first start for Jamie George and Sam Symonds.

0:02:44 > 0:02:55Samoa have four players from Bristol playing. Look out for Tim

0:02:55 > 0:03:05Nanai-Williams.

0:03:10 > 0:03:21Alongside him Leuila.

0:03:24 > 0:03:33Among Samoa's replacement Lemalu. Yesterday, Samoa practiced at an

0:03:33 > 0:03:41empty Twickenham. Now they get to do it in front of a full house.

0:04:10 > 0:04:27Now Ford gets us under way. England all in white. It is taken by Lam. A

0:04:27 > 0:04:42first touch for Sam Simmonds, making his first start in an England shirt.

0:04:42 > 0:04:45Lozowski off-loads to Slade.

0:04:52 > 0:04:57Brown back in the side after concussion. Throws the dummy and

0:04:57 > 0:05:04gets it away to Slade. England probing in the opening minutes.

0:05:17 > 0:05:26Simmonds with his second touch. Ford to Genge, was that forward? No, the

0:05:26 > 0:05:39referee is happy. Numbers for England. It is knocked on by Care.

0:05:39 > 0:05:46Itoje comes through and Brown is in for the game's first try. In the

0:05:46 > 0:05:55opening minutes.I think the Samoa players will ask to go up stairs. It

0:05:55 > 0:06:00looked like Care knocked it on. Great intent from England. They want

0:06:00 > 0:06:07to play and keep the ball in hand. They're checking for the knock-on.

0:06:07 > 0:06:12Slade gave it inside to Care. Well, it may have come off his body. It

0:06:12 > 0:06:16looked like it went forward. The first angle will probably show us

0:06:16 > 0:06:21more and whether it...It will be hard whether they can pick it up

0:06:21 > 0:06:28whether it is off his body or his hands. It looks like one.If it

0:06:28 > 0:06:36looks like a knock-on, it probably it.I think Genge go lucky when the

0:06:36 > 0:06:43ball came off his fingers. It is a pass that...It has gone to his body

0:06:43 > 0:06:53and he tried to catch. It has come forward off his waist. The officials

0:06:53 > 0:06:58decided it's come, any contact with the hand, the ball's gone back and

0:06:58 > 0:07:03then forward off the waist or thigh and Brown gets his 11th

0:07:03 > 0:07:09international try. A scorer the last time they met in 2014. Ford slams

0:07:09 > 0:07:11over the conversion.

0:07:22 > 0:07:33Fonotia was in there. Out to George. A big hit by Leuila on Jamie George.

0:07:33 > 0:07:42A bit of Samoan meat that hit Jamie George. He didn't hold back.Ewels

0:07:42 > 0:07:45is the dummy run.

0:07:51 > 0:07:55Lemi has been around for a long time. Although May is lightning

0:07:55 > 0:08:03quick. It is a bit loose at the moment. England want to test their

0:08:03 > 0:08:06attacking structures and play a bit. It will be that sort of game.

0:08:06 > 0:08:12Hopefully it doesn't get really scrappy and George tries to bring

0:08:12 > 0:08:21that structure back.It has been lost forward and Daley to George,

0:08:21 > 0:08:26back inside to Lozowski. First start at Twickenham, first try at

0:08:26 > 0:08:30Twickenham for the Saracen. You look at structure and England lost their

0:08:30 > 0:08:42impetus. George Ford goes to the air, a mistake at the back. Daly

0:08:42 > 0:08:55picks it up. If you give them a sniff, they will try and take it.

0:08:55 > 0:09:02Still 15 metres in from touch for George Ford to negotiate. He nailed

0:09:02 > 0:09:12his first kick in an easier angle. But not that time. The score stays

0:09:12 > 0:09:1712-0 after 10 minutes. Ewels has knocked that forward A chance for

0:09:17 > 0:09:25Samoa to respond straightaway. Away to Nanai-Williams. Five metres out.

0:09:25 > 0:09:30Can they capitalise? By far their best attack of the opening 11

0:09:30 > 0:09:36minutes. Kick and go to within 4.

0:09:40 > 0:09:56Is he over? He is a matter of inches short. Ioane.Samoa known for their

0:09:56 > 0:10:01deft off-loading. Nanai-Williams through the gap. Restart to contest.

0:10:01 > 0:10:06They get people up there and the ball is back and they move it, shift

0:10:06 > 0:10:11it, an offload and Nanai-Williams is through. We are going for a scrum.

0:10:11 > 0:10:24They have said they have held it up. Samoa got the first free kick.

0:10:24 > 0:10:28England had the nudge on the last scrum. It will be interesting how

0:10:28 > 0:10:36they play this.Lam from the base. Big tackle coming in on lavm. --

0:10:36 > 0:10:46Lam.

0:10:49 > 0:10:57Two quick England tries and that is just what Samoa needed.Great for

0:10:57 > 0:11:00the game, getting Samoa on the scoreboard. We know they can play.

0:11:00 > 0:11:06To have that early on the board, things could get away from them at

0:11:06 > 0:11:1212-0 down. Hopefully that is game on and we can have a 40-38 or

0:11:12 > 0:11:18something.It shows even against the No 16 side in the world, if you lose

0:11:18 > 0:11:21your restart like that, you're asking for trouble and Samoa have

0:11:21 > 0:11:24hit back to within five points.

0:11:32 > 0:11:37An opportunity for Brown.

0:11:50 > 0:12:02Tuala does well. May does well. Care gets quick ball and Genge comes in.

0:12:08 > 0:12:13Polataivao came in at the side. Advantage being played. Brown has

0:12:13 > 0:12:21George wide. Daly has pace. Lovely hands from George. Did that go

0:12:21 > 0:12:28forward? No, says the referee. It is loose at Twickenham. Here is the

0:12:28 > 0:12:34rampaging Genge. Has Care got in front? Yes. Back for the original

0:12:34 > 0:12:39penalty.Fantastic phase of play. End to end. That is what we want to

0:12:39 > 0:12:46see. It is a bit unstructured. But that is what England wanted to

0:12:46 > 0:12:52bring.Ford lines up this kick. Just to settle England down a bit. They

0:12:52 > 0:12:57have played plenty of good rugby.

0:13:00 > 0:13:06But they have conceded. As Ford steps up a and George Ford after

0:13:06 > 0:13:12missing his second kick, names his third nicely. England with an

0:13:12 > 0:13:22eight-point buffer.

0:13:30 > 0:13:35Fonotia did he lose the ball. The second time it was knocked on.I

0:13:35 > 0:13:44think the first time was an offload attempt that an England player got.

0:13:44 > 0:13:49Great play by Nanai-Williams. Sucks in two defenders and makes the pass

0:13:49 > 0:13:54to Fonotia. As he is going around the back, tries to off-load it and

0:13:54 > 0:13:59May gets his hand on it. It is begging for him to pick it back up

0:13:59 > 0:14:05and he fumbles it.Ben Youngs normally starting for England, but

0:14:05 > 0:14:13Danny Care, who has been the super sub. Youngs will come on as a

0:14:13 > 0:14:27finisher. Simmonds controlling it and just as up the Samoa scrum. It

0:14:27 > 0:14:32was static and then one wrong foot step and England powered through. So

0:14:32 > 0:14:40we will be down in the Samoan 22. England have been fantastic off set

0:14:40 > 0:14:42pieces.

0:14:52 > 0:14:57George finds his man in Ewels. England slightly going back to

0:14:57 > 0:15:03basics. A bit more structure in their play. A scrum penalty. Deep in

0:15:03 > 0:15:07Samoan territory. The backs are lined looking for the ball. Care

0:15:07 > 0:15:14digs for it.Might find a chip. Slade on an angle and crossing the

0:15:14 > 0:15:18gain line nicely. Quick ball for Care. England probing through

0:15:18 > 0:15:25George. Lightning fast ball for Care. Genge on the line as well.

0:15:25 > 0:15:32England have numbers to the right. Ford the Launchbury. Launchbury five

0:15:32 > 0:15:38metres short. Advantage played to England.Early tackle.Was he taken

0:15:38 > 0:15:45early? The referee doesn't think so. But back for the penalty. England

0:15:45 > 0:15:50are tapping and going. Care beats Genge. There is a collision. The

0:15:50 > 0:15:57Samoan stays down. England looking for their third try. Launchbury man

0:15:57 > 0:16:04of the match against Australia this time last week. Ford to Brown. To

0:16:04 > 0:16:07within three or four metres.

0:16:13 > 0:16:24Ewels up to the line and over. What a ball from Care that was. What a

0:16:24 > 0:16:30fantastic ball from Care to put Ewels in.That is much better from

0:16:30 > 0:16:34England. Eddie Jones spoke of wanting to keep it tight and

0:16:34 > 0:16:38structured. Pennell tip at the scrum -- penalty at the scrum and catch

0:16:38 > 0:16:44and drive and the forwards working. Ewels' second try for England. And

0:16:44 > 0:16:49England have their third. It has come from speed of ball. They're

0:16:49 > 0:16:53doing a lightning fast job at break downs, so Care can pick the speed

0:16:53 > 0:16:57up. That is two people running with a genuine thought they're going to

0:16:57 > 0:17:07get it. Danny makes the perfect pass to Ewels. If you see two people jump

0:17:07 > 0:17:11in on Itoje, you can't stop that.So much depth in this England second

0:17:11 > 0:17:19row. So many options for Eddie Jones. But Ewels put his hand up on

0:17:19 > 0:17:23the tour of Argentina when others were in New Zealand with the Lions.

0:17:23 > 0:17:28He started both Test matches in South America and he has his first

0:17:28 > 0:17:39start at Twickenham today. Definitely gifted in the second row

0:17:39 > 0:17:44department.That looks like a right shoulder injury for the Wasps second

0:17:44 > 0:17:55row. Lawes is coming on. The that is a permanent replacement.

0:18:00 > 0:18:06It is a rolling maul.Well disrupted there.They have come through. That

0:18:06 > 0:18:15is excellent work by Samoa to spoil. Tyrell is in there. They have turned

0:18:15 > 0:18:22it over completely. Brilliant work in te dense. Tyrell to the fore. And

0:18:22 > 0:18:27then it was knocked forward. Frustration for Samoa. They spoilt

0:18:27 > 0:18:33so well at the line-out. Won the ball back and then knocked it on.

0:18:33 > 0:18:39They did a great job from the start and they got a great hit on early

0:18:39 > 0:18:45and got people in on Itoje very early.

0:18:51 > 0:18:55Simmonds takes the free kick quickly. He has been well in the

0:18:55 > 0:19:06game first half. Ewels makes a dent. But it is turned over by Polataivao,

0:19:06 > 0:19:11who saw the England support wasn't there. Samoa have scrambled well and

0:19:11 > 0:19:16they will have to clear through Nanai-Williams and he doesn't make

0:19:16 > 0:19:25touch. A big hit coming in from that man again, Leuila.

0:19:36 > 0:19:41A prop wanting the ball in hope space, where he probably doesn't

0:19:41 > 0:19:46want the ball in open space. Simmonds shrugs off one and then

0:19:46 > 0:19:52another. To within 15 minutes. Genge again, ever willing ball-carrier,

0:19:52 > 0:19:58the Leicester prop. Turned over though by Samoa and three times in

0:19:58 > 0:20:02one move they have scrambled. Once from the line-out and twice from

0:20:02 > 0:20:08open play and now they have won the penalty.Eddie Jones will be

0:20:08 > 0:20:13frustrated, England went from being so clinical and now providing

0:20:13 > 0:20:17opportunities for Samoa by people being a little one or two seconds

0:20:17 > 0:20:25late on break Down's.That will frustrate Ed yoi Jones and he will

0:20:25 > 0:20:31probably have a word about that. Samoa have done plenty of good

0:20:31 > 0:20:35things, but they have been cut open on regular occasions by England

0:20:35 > 0:20:38attack.

0:21:00 > 0:21:09Leuila kicks and Ford does the same and it will be a Samoa 22.England

0:21:09 > 0:21:14cannot quite that comfortable. You can see their kicking game is more

0:21:14 > 0:21:18structured than Samoa's at the moment. I think they're doing a good

0:21:18 > 0:21:23job. But at the moment they will want to re-establish themselves as a

0:21:23 > 0:21:29dominant force in this game and it has got into a sort of nothingness.

0:21:29 > 0:21:34They have had opportunities. Samoa have turned them over. But the last

0:21:34 > 0:21:41five minutes have been a kicks fest. Here goes May. He has been in

0:21:41 > 0:21:51incredible try-scoring form for Leicester. Can Robshaw off-load.

0:21:51 > 0:22:00Interception by Leuila. Maybe Samoa can strike before the interval.

0:22:13 > 0:22:17Nanai-Williams almost got the off-load away. They're going to win

0:22:17 > 0:22:20a penalty as England don't roll away. A chance for Samoa to strike

0:22:20 > 0:22:25at the end of the half. Either through a penalty goal or maybe they

0:22:25 > 0:22:31will look for the corner here.At the moment, they're on 15 points

0:22:31 > 0:22:35down. They're going for the corner. They are fancying their chances,

0:22:35 > 0:22:40which is great for the game I think. Ove, he has missed it.He went for

0:22:40 > 0:22:45broke, Nanai-Williams. It was... A metre or so from being a perfect

0:22:45 > 0:22:51kick. And there is Daly who has the luck of the touchline this time last

0:22:51 > 0:22:59week. This time it did go out. Nigel Owens is calling play back.REFEREE:

0:22:59 > 0:23:06OK.No. Not quite sure what happened.I think he had run out of

0:23:06 > 0:23:15his 22 when he kicked it. But he has checked it and now he has give it

0:23:15 > 0:23:24the full distance.Daly definitely inside. This touchline has been

0:23:24 > 0:23:30consider kind to Daly. Robshaw will look to get on to that. Was he

0:23:30 > 0:23:35tackled without the ball? But it is in England possession.

0:23:45 > 0:23:52Lawes is making metres.He is crawling there.Lawes again meaning

0:23:52 > 0:23:59business after coming off the bench. England deep in Samoan territory,

0:23:59 > 0:24:07looking for a fourth try. Turned over illegally by Fonotia. How

0:24:07 > 0:24:11quickly things can change, because if Nanai-Williams had made touch it

0:24:11 > 0:24:17would have been a five metre line-out to Samoa, now England you

0:24:17 > 0:24:21would match will put this into the corner and try and take the game

0:24:21 > 0:24:28almost out of sight.Yes, if you judge from what they did last time.

0:24:28 > 0:24:37It will be interesting to see if they have something up their sleeve.

0:24:40 > 0:24:45George finds Lawes. The Twickenham crowd imploring the forwards to

0:24:45 > 0:24:55drive.Again fantastic defence from Samoa.

0:24:58 > 0:25:03Lozowski, has he lost that forward? He has. That will be half time,

0:25:03 > 0:25:11unless Samoa fancy going from their own tryline. Fonotia will kick. Good

0:25:11 > 0:25:15kick.One of the best things they have had in the game. Maybe they

0:25:15 > 0:25:21should try it more often. An entertaining half. England with

0:25:21 > 0:25:32three tries. Brown, Lozowski and Ewels. At half time England lead

0:25:32 > 0:25:3522-7.

0:25:42 > 0:25:48Nanai-Williams kicks. Samoa off from left to right. Under it is Ewels,

0:25:48 > 0:25:53who scored England's third try in that first half. And that rolling

0:25:53 > 0:25:59maul that brought a fair bit of success for England set up.

0:26:12 > 0:26:18Daly's kick is scooped up by Perez as if he was in the gully. He is

0:26:18 > 0:26:23tackled just short of half way by Lozowski and Genge.

0:26:36 > 0:26:43Polataivao with a strange kick which has taken well by May. Gives England

0:26:43 > 0:26:48width. Brown is through. He has support from Lozowski and Care.

0:26:48 > 0:26:52Lozowski to Care. Just behind the England scrum-half. Would have been

0:26:52 > 0:26:55a beauty of a score if Care had gathered it running that tracking

0:26:55 > 0:27:03line. But Brown showing why he is one of Eddie Jones' first names on

0:27:03 > 0:27:08the team sheet.Fantastic work by May keeping the ball in and the two

0:27:08 > 0:27:12passes to give them space. Mike Brown takes advantage of a mismatch,

0:27:12 > 0:27:18but it is a shame those two passes, great support work up the middle and

0:27:18 > 0:27:25that pass just goes behind Care.

0:27:32 > 0:27:36Clearing their line was a problem for the visitors in the first half

0:27:36 > 0:27:41and now Polataivao is back to Nanai-Williams. He does make ground

0:27:41 > 0:27:46with that kick. Brown is under and will love to run it back.

0:27:52 > 0:27:58If you come back into a team, you want a confidence-booster and they

0:27:58 > 0:28:03are giving him that, they are allowing him to run it back.

0:28:12 > 0:28:19Lozowski winning just his fourth cap today. Ewels off to one of the

0:28:19 > 0:28:27cocaptains in Chris Robshaw.A great ball again by Care. Skipping that

0:28:27 > 0:28:32first easy ball-carrier and moving the point of attack.

0:28:38 > 0:28:44England probing in this second half. But Cole went in at the side and

0:28:44 > 0:28:49some respite for Samoa as England are penalised.

0:28:56 > 0:28:59Always tough for the referee, it is a penalty that doesn't really affect

0:28:59 > 0:29:04the game. But in the legal sense of it, it is illegal to come in from

0:29:04 > 0:29:10the side. But I think referee's sometimes forget how hard it is to

0:29:10 > 0:29:18clear out an 18 stone man. Sometimes you need an angle.Perhaps a tougher

0:29:18 > 0:29:26call to come through the gate. But it is a penalty to Samoa. And

0:29:26 > 0:29:38Nanai-Williams takes play up to half way. Can Samoa strike in this second

0:29:38 > 0:29:42half.

0:29:49 > 0:29:54This is where you think Samoa could put pressure back on England. But

0:29:54 > 0:29:58Cole has wrestled it from the Samoans and he looks for that little

0:29:58 > 0:30:04kick. He is such a deft kicker of the ball. As he showed against

0:30:04 > 0:30:12Australia last weekend.

0:30:12 > 0:30:17Jonny May screaming that he wanted that little dink behind. As any good

0:30:17 > 0:30:21half-back does, he gives his window what he wants. Managed to run into

0:30:21 > 0:30:28touch, because Jonny was chasing that lack a greyhound.Looking to

0:30:28 > 0:30:32attack, flat ball to Sam Simmonds, who has had plenty of it. The

0:30:32 > 0:30:3723-year-old on his first start at number eight.I'd like to see a bit

0:30:37 > 0:30:41more from England of that. Itoje gets the ball, and I'd like the

0:30:41 > 0:30:46option of that little ball on the outside. If somebody is on his

0:30:46 > 0:30:50outside to get a little lift, that's where I'd want them to shift it a

0:30:50 > 0:30:53bit wider and get more success. Jonny May, good tackle coming in,

0:30:53 > 0:30:59and again the ball didn't find its way to the hands of Danny Care, who

0:30:59 > 0:31:04has been looking for a try the afternoon, the scrum-half. He has

0:31:04 > 0:31:09been tracking, but not quite falling for him. It looks like an England

0:31:09 > 0:31:15player who is down. It will be May, I imagine. Our view is slightly

0:31:15 > 0:31:19obscured, but I think it's Jonny May getting some treatment after coming

0:31:19 > 0:31:26on at that angle and taken the ball from Ford.England line-out has

0:31:26 > 0:31:29functioned all afternoon long. For Jonny May, it doesn't look great,

0:31:29 > 0:31:33but hopefully he isn't too sore and will be able to stay on, because I

0:31:33 > 0:31:38think he'll be hoping for another try. He likes accumulating the

0:31:38 > 0:31:43numbers.He's got his first try at Twickenham in a year last week, and

0:31:43 > 0:31:47as we see Sam Simmonds, who has been an ever willing ball-carrier in the

0:31:47 > 0:31:54absence of Nathan Hughes. Samoa's defence has been solid. They have

0:31:54 > 0:31:58missed tackles, but the ones they have made have been quite firm, and

0:31:58 > 0:32:03May is on his feet after taking a hit, but it is May coming off with

0:32:03 > 0:32:09concussion. A permanent replacement, so the referee has made that call.

0:32:09 > 0:32:14He isn't even going to have an assessment. Joe Marler at the back.

0:32:14 > 0:32:20Jamie George, Chris Robshaw lending support.I think they got a great

0:32:20 > 0:32:26setup going forward. They just need to rebuild it. You could say that I

0:32:26 > 0:32:29discovered it, because they need to start moving, and Danny Care has had

0:32:29 > 0:32:33to run around the whole back of the bit that broke.Well tackled by

0:32:33 > 0:32:40Nanai-Williams. Leading trade turnover. After being penalised a

0:32:40 > 0:32:48moment or two, Nanai-Williams, this time he does a good job, holding up

0:32:48 > 0:32:54Lozowski. I suppose that is where this slightly like England midfield,

0:32:54 > 0:32:57brilliantly skilful in Lozowski and Slade, but no big ball-carrier in

0:32:57 > 0:33:03the Mike Tindall mode...It's an experiment. Slade has played very

0:33:03 > 0:33:07well at Exeter this year. He has heard that role. I think he wants to

0:33:07 > 0:33:14see a bit more of Alex Lozowski, and he's getting to see that. I think

0:33:14 > 0:33:17he's played pretty well today, Lozowski. They are a bit light, but

0:33:17 > 0:33:23with somebody like Rokoduguni coming on, you've got a bit of meat to use

0:33:23 > 0:33:26food a bit harsh, giving the ball, because he never really became

0:33:26 > 0:33:35static. -- you've got a bit of meat to use.Nanai-Williams looking for

0:33:35 > 0:33:42space. Brown came forward, trying to take it on the fall, but he had to

0:33:42 > 0:33:47let it bounce. He wants to chase it himself, but he gets blocked. The

0:33:47 > 0:33:51ball has ricocheted, and Brown might be onto this. Back those Paul Perez,

0:33:51 > 0:33:57doing well, the Samoa vice captain. Wrestled to the floor by Henry

0:33:57 > 0:34:02Slade. That could have gone anywhere, when the ball shot

0:34:02 > 0:34:11through. Polataivao, back to Nanai-Williams, who built it down

0:34:11 > 0:34:18the field, and Ford gestures to to come outside. Rokoduguni in space.

0:34:18 > 0:34:22Daly over the 22. He tried to get inside to Lozowski and couldn't

0:34:22 > 0:34:28lift. Samoa countering well, and they turned it over. Frustrating for

0:34:28 > 0:34:35England at Eddie Jones. They made the break but they were isolated,

0:34:35 > 0:34:38and Samoa poured through to steal the ball back, and they are managing

0:34:38 > 0:34:42to scramble well, Samoa. They did it a few times in the first half and

0:34:42 > 0:34:50they did here, as Tuala looks to the century of touch.Oh, we are away

0:34:50 > 0:34:57again.The only way that Mike Brown knows is to run. Now Rokoduguni. If

0:34:57 > 0:35:03England come right, they have got some Samoan bodies perhaps tired and

0:35:03 > 0:35:07retreating. Itoje, a willing and focal point of attack. He is holding

0:35:07 > 0:35:14on, and again Samoa scramble the defence pace. They win the penalty,

0:35:14 > 0:35:21as Itoje holds the ball on, and Samoa can clear their line again.

0:35:21 > 0:35:27And breeze.I think Eddie Jones will be frustrated at what is happening

0:35:27 > 0:35:33at the breakdown. Great technical work from Samoa, but if you players,

0:35:33 > 0:35:37Courtney Lawes in that instance, just a bit too late, allowing them

0:35:37 > 0:35:42to get over the ball. Great counter ruck, whoever made the tackle, I

0:35:42 > 0:35:46couldn't see his number, bounces through the feet and pushes through,

0:35:46 > 0:35:50and they have already gone a metre beyond, making an easy turnover for

0:35:50 > 0:35:55Samoa.At the breakdown, Samoa getting the better of England a

0:35:55 > 0:35:58couple times, and winning the line-out. Almost an intercept for

0:35:58 > 0:36:05Robert Rock. Nanai-Williams had a chance to attack, almost. -- almost

0:36:05 > 0:36:15an intercept for Chris Robshaw. A combination of Cole and Itoje. The

0:36:15 > 0:36:18England chance to counter ruck, and they had turned over, down the

0:36:18 > 0:36:22blindside. Danny Care. Here is the Simmonds. He makes a couple of

0:36:22 > 0:36:29metres, tackled by Sasagi, the replacement prop. The off-load to

0:36:29 > 0:36:37Robert Rock. -- the off-load to Chris Rock troubled their -- the

0:36:37 > 0:36:44off-load to Chris Robshaw. Tackled my the 22. England looking for a

0:36:44 > 0:36:52fall from the first point of this second half. Samoa have won the

0:36:52 > 0:36:57penalty again. Three or four times in the second half that England have

0:36:57 > 0:37:02made inroads and then the visitors have worked and scrapped and managed

0:37:02 > 0:37:07to force the turnover.Fantastic work from Samoa at the breakdown,

0:37:07 > 0:37:15scramble, desire, great work, and that's a penalty with the ball drop

0:37:15 > 0:37:20in on hands, but great work by England, and then Courtney gets the

0:37:20 > 0:37:27ball up and under way.England looking to try and put this game to

0:37:27 > 0:37:33bed on the hour mark. Shortfall differences. Now Chris Robshaw, the

0:37:33 > 0:37:38co-captain. Working as hard as ever, Chris Robshaw. Loads of now. His

0:37:38 > 0:37:4659th cap at Harlequins. Looking to go through Joe Marler, finding

0:37:46 > 0:37:54Williams, massive hit coming in. Williams does well to set it up, as

0:37:54 > 0:38:00England crowd towards the 22 Henry Slade, to Brown, giving Rokoduguni a

0:38:00 > 0:38:08bit of space. Inside the 22 foot Youngs, quick ball, Simmonds,

0:38:08 > 0:38:13tackled by Polataivao.Simmonds has been a constant carrier for England

0:38:13 > 0:38:18today.As has Courtney Lawes, back in centre field for England. Options

0:38:18 > 0:38:25left and right for Youngs. Williams couldn't quite get it away to Joe

0:38:25 > 0:38:30Marler, but just a few metres short now, England Ford to Daly. Over the

0:38:30 > 0:38:36line, Elliot Daly scores. His fifth for his country, Daly. Scorer last

0:38:36 > 0:38:43week and again today. And England well clear now.Fantastic patience

0:38:43 > 0:38:47for England all the way, and that something they can learn from

0:38:47 > 0:38:51playing Samoa. When they have had possession, they have returned the

0:38:51 > 0:38:56ball -- retained the ball and they've created the space and a

0:38:56 > 0:39:02clinical finish at the end. Some tightness in the Samoan defensive

0:39:02 > 0:39:07line, giving Rokoduguni, even though he gets to the outside, and a quick

0:39:07 > 0:39:11ball, George Ford, flat at the line, great line from Williams, and

0:39:11 > 0:39:18getting the ball up, and a great finish. No right to score from

0:39:18 > 0:39:22there, dances inside to people, and a fantastic finish.Ford timing his

0:39:22 > 0:39:30pass nicely on the line, and Daly skipped inside and crossed, and

0:39:30 > 0:39:33England have a 20 point lead which, you feel, will be more than

0:39:33 > 0:39:38sufficient.From an England point of view, they are now really going to

0:39:38 > 0:39:42lift that tempo. I think they will see that Samoa are tiring or tied,

0:39:42 > 0:39:47and they've just brought on most of the bench, and they've got to lift

0:39:47 > 0:39:55that tempo. You felt it in the last couple of minutes. They will try and

0:39:55 > 0:39:59continue that.Flying kick from George Ford. England 29-7 to the

0:39:59 > 0:40:11good. Williams, the decoy, Ford to Itoje. Samoa over the top, turning

0:40:11 > 0:40:18it over. They've done that through name 15, but illegally so, and he

0:40:18 > 0:40:26might be in trouble. -- they've done that through Faasalele. The Samoan

0:40:26 > 0:40:30number six got off his feet to kill the ball, and Samoa will play the

0:40:30 > 0:40:35bulk of the rest of the match with just 14 men. Hartley at the back of

0:40:35 > 0:40:45the ball. Youngs has Rokoduguni on the decoy, and Rokoduguni, the dummy

0:40:45 > 0:40:52runner, and Slade dances over. Under the post, England pass fifth try,

0:40:52 > 0:41:01and they could put Samoa away at this attempt.Fantastic work in

0:41:01 > 0:41:05terms of knowing your job, your role, where the line-out isn't quite

0:41:05 > 0:41:09great, the line-out drive isn't quite functioning, having three

0:41:09 > 0:41:12people running at the line, making defenders make a decision, what a

0:41:12 > 0:41:18great pass. We talked about Danny Care's passing and skipping and

0:41:18 > 0:41:23floating the ball in front of people, and again, Ben Youngs comes

0:41:23 > 0:41:29on, great line that we have seen all year from Slade, and he walks in

0:41:29 > 0:41:35uncontested. Rokoduguni is doing his job in terms of holding

0:41:35 > 0:41:40Nanai-Williams, Piers Francis doing his job, the ball always he went in

0:41:40 > 0:41:43front of Paul Perez and there was no chance for him to step in and make

0:41:43 > 0:41:52that hit.Samoa playing without Faasalele, their blindside flanker.

0:41:52 > 0:41:57Jack Lam, their talismanic number eight, is being replaced. There is

0:41:57 > 0:42:04Lemalu, replacement in the second row. Tuala goes quickly, nicely done

0:42:04 > 0:42:07by him. Quick thinking, and they go through the middle, through

0:42:07 > 0:42:12Christopher Vui. They have won another penalty, as Chris Robshaw

0:42:12 > 0:42:21doesn't run away. And Samoa, with 14 men, will be happy to play the next

0:42:21 > 0:42:25few minutes in this part of the pitch. They will want the ball for a

0:42:25 > 0:42:31little bit. I don't think they have seen much of it in this area off the

0:42:31 > 0:42:34field. Hopefully they'll try and get something a bit creative from the

0:42:34 > 0:42:37line-out. I'm not sure they will go for a drive, maybe something a bit

0:42:37 > 0:42:42more adventurous, and hopefully they'll have room to get another

0:42:42 > 0:42:48score on the board and give them a bit more energy and enthusiasm.

0:42:58 > 0:43:06Leiataua. Finds his man in the middle of the line-out. Dummy from

0:43:06 > 0:43:14Treviranus. Dietrich and try line begging. Clever move from Samoa. --

0:43:14 > 0:43:23the Twickenham try line begging. Lovely dummy, Treviranus. And then

0:43:23 > 0:43:29Leiataua left it behind. We're going to look at whether have got this

0:43:29 > 0:43:34forward, know whether it's going to be a penalty try. -- at whether

0:43:34 > 0:43:38England have got this forward. It could be a try, because it went

0:43:38 > 0:43:49backwards.I have a decision, you may award the try.No clear

0:43:49 > 0:43:56knock-on, try is good, Captain.Try for some other, their second, and

0:43:56 > 0:44:03you can't rush the captain that. -- try for Samoa. He has led from the

0:44:03 > 0:44:05front in a difficult cause all afternoon. His first international

0:44:05 > 0:44:11try.For Christopher Vui to get round there after taking that

0:44:11 > 0:44:20line-out, that's fantastic. Nanai-Williams and a smattering of

0:44:20 > 0:44:26supporters, now they have something to really cheer. A fine five minutes

0:44:26 > 0:44:34from Vui. Simmonds, Ford, a bit of space for Francis, Itoje with a load

0:44:34 > 0:44:39of space outside him. Nanai-Williams does well and perhaps breaking up

0:44:39 > 0:44:46for England. Forward to Francis again, with plenty of ball since he

0:44:46 > 0:44:51came on as a replacement. Ford on the gain line, could be an overlap

0:44:51 > 0:44:59for England. Slade, wide to Daly. Still going, Elliot Daly foot Daly

0:44:59 > 0:45:05for his second! What a finish, Elliot Daly! Magnificent pace and

0:45:05 > 0:45:08balance from the England winger, and Twickenham on its feet. What a

0:45:08 > 0:45:15finish. People must know he's going to step to the inside, but they

0:45:15 > 0:45:20still can't defend it. He is always so good stepping off that left foot,

0:45:20 > 0:45:26and then he has the afterburner to flick the ball and get himself home.

0:45:26 > 0:45:30Probably blowing a bit now, but they worked it so well again, using the

0:45:30 > 0:45:38outback passes. Steps on, little friend, and flip on those

0:45:38 > 0:45:42afterburners and catch me if you can. -- steps on, little fend.Rate

0:45:42 > 0:45:51a rapid return from a knee injury, suffering just before the autumn.

0:45:51 > 0:45:54And he's come back in to make a big impression across three Test

0:45:54 > 0:46:00matches. England past 40 with Ford's conversion, and they scored six

0:46:00 > 0:46:08tries. Final play, potentially, at Twickenham.Piers Francis has done

0:46:08 > 0:46:13well. Some difficult passes, and he has stepped up but he's looked

0:46:13 > 0:46:23strong. -- he has stepped up. He's looked strong.Turned over by Samoa.

0:46:23 > 0:46:28It will be Samoa that have the final say, potentially, and they have

0:46:28 > 0:46:34already tapped and gone. Nanai-Williams see some space.

0:46:34 > 0:46:44Isiekwe tried to make the tackle, and the replacement prop is Lemalu.

0:46:44 > 0:46:48Time is up. It's been knocked forward, so a last chance for

0:46:48 > 0:46:54England. Youngs, loose prop. Hartley was in the wide channels. Good

0:46:54 > 0:47:01off-load. Simmonds off-loads to Brown, and a lovely pick-up from

0:47:01 > 0:47:08Daly. Inside to Hartley. Hartley tries to link with Youngs. Great

0:47:08 > 0:47:11pick-up, brilliant by Francis. England have one more opportunity

0:47:11 > 0:47:18inside the Samoan 22. Slade, it's two on one, he will not score

0:47:18 > 0:47:22himself, he gives the pass to Rokoduguni, and he skates in

0:47:22 > 0:47:31unopposed, easy as you like. England a couple of points away from 50.It

0:47:31 > 0:47:35will not get any easier for Rokoduguni than that. The pick-up,

0:47:35 > 0:47:39fantastic pick-ups by England players throughout that move, just

0:47:39 > 0:47:46to keep the ball alive. Went wrong, Dylan Hartley had to pick it up,

0:47:46 > 0:47:50control it, a lovely off-load, and they had the ball off the floor, and

0:47:50 > 0:47:58the tired Samoan defence cracked. We are used to him scoring wonder

0:47:58 > 0:48:02tries, and it's always nice to have a little one you just have to trot

0:48:02 > 0:48:08over the line.He's had a bit of a disjointed England career,

0:48:08 > 0:48:12Rokoduguni, winning just four caps in three years, but he's scored four

0:48:12 > 0:48:17tries, so no complaints about his strike rate. He scored against

0:48:17 > 0:48:22Argentina a fortnight in a and again today. -- a fortnight ago and again

0:48:22 > 0:48:28today. The Twickenham crowd very happy on this November night. He's

0:48:28 > 0:48:32had a good game, George Ford, pulling the strings, kicking his

0:48:32 > 0:48:38goals, and this would bring up a half-century of points to cap a

0:48:38 > 0:48:41satisfactory afternoon for Eddie Jones's side.

0:48:44 > 0:48:54Not quite to be! Seven tries for England. Brown, Slade, Lozowski,

0:48:54 > 0:49:00Ewels, Rokoduguni and a couple from Daly. But England far too strong.

0:49:00 > 0:49:11They have won at Twickenham 48-40. We started well. Probably got

0:49:11 > 0:49:14seduced by the perceived easiness and Scott doing the small things

0:49:14 > 0:49:19well, at a flat period in the middle and finished strong. Some handling

0:49:19 > 0:49:25various at strong at times. Your highlights?Greatest opportunities

0:49:25 > 0:49:28and didn't convert them all, which goes back to unstructured handling.

0:49:28 > 0:49:33I thought Elliot Daly was good, Simmonds was good, George Ford was

0:49:33 > 0:49:38good. A lots of positive things. We've learned a lot about ourselves

0:49:38 > 0:49:43and grow as a team. It was a good side. There's plenty to work on from

0:49:43 > 0:49:49today. Early on, discipline, weren't quite clinical enough, but overall,

0:49:49 > 0:49:54an review, I think we've grown as a team and I'm happy.A bit let down,

0:49:54 > 0:49:57it didn't go as smoothly as have liked. We were slightly off the

0:49:57 > 0:50:06pace. We knew it was going to be tough, so pretty happy autumn.Any

0:50:06 > 0:50:11frustrations for you around the breakdown?The forwards didn't work

0:50:11 > 0:50:15hard enough to get our second man in, which was disappointing but

0:50:15 > 0:50:21before this game, we've been good in that area.Everything that we do, we

0:50:21 > 0:50:30never give up. Even though the score, the 30 or so point lead, but

0:50:30 > 0:50:34we never stopped trying. What the players want going forward for

0:50:34 > 0:50:41support?The boys had no doubt. It's stuff that we can't control. The

0:50:41 > 0:50:47boys are here to play rugby, and represent their country as best as

0:50:47 > 0:50:53we can. They had a good game plan and stuck to it. Didn't make life

0:50:53 > 0:50:57easy for us. We probably didn't make life easy for ourselves sometimes as

0:50:57 > 0:51:03well. You saw that our fitness game is up there. We put some more points

0:51:03 > 0:51:08on at the end. What will you work on the head of the sixthat's a

0:51:08 > 0:51:14different competition. These tests are played in a more open way. The

0:51:14 > 0:51:19Six Nations is winner rugby, knock them down, set piece, grind it out.

0:51:19 > 0:51:26We are looking to get ready for it. England are all finished now for

0:51:26 > 0:51:312017, and they finished this autumn campaign with three victories. To

0:51:31 > 0:51:35help us pick through everything that happens, I'm joined by former

0:51:35 > 0:51:39England international and former British and Irish Lion Simon Shaw.

0:51:39 > 0:51:43What did you think of it?It was interesting. If you look at the

0:51:43 > 0:51:47scoreline, you would probably have predicted about that for I suddenly

0:51:47 > 0:51:51thought that would be the case. In terms of the manner and how they

0:51:51 > 0:51:56went about their work, England, it was slightly unpredictable. They

0:51:56 > 0:52:01started the game well, two tries early on, and finished well with two

0:52:01 > 0:52:04tries. In between, it was fits and starts and they looked on forced

0:52:04 > 0:52:08errors and mistakes. Possibly people trying a bit too hard.Comment from

0:52:08 > 0:52:14both Eddie Jones and Chris Robshaw that, particularly around the

0:52:14 > 0:52:19breakdown, Samoa appeared to have the upper hand. What did you think?

0:52:19 > 0:52:23They made it a torrid time for England in that area by committing

0:52:23 > 0:52:26numbers. Possibly that was a tactic they set out to having watched the

0:52:26 > 0:52:31Premiership this season, where teams haven't committed as many players do

0:52:31 > 0:52:38that area. They disrupted England for a while, but I think more than

0:52:38 > 0:52:43that, what happened in the middle of the game, it was a result of two

0:52:43 > 0:52:48early tries, but it was the easy tries coming England's way and

0:52:48 > 0:52:53people trying to force the issue a bit too much, perhaps players,

0:52:53 > 0:52:56individuals, playing more for themselves then the team, trying to

0:52:56 > 0:53:01get in a deep's head and get selection forced a bit more in their

0:53:01 > 0:53:07favour. -- trying to get in Eddie Jones's head.Two tries for Elliot

0:53:07 > 0:53:11Daly, and Eddie Jones singled him out. He is a former team-mate of

0:53:11 > 0:53:16yours. How has he bedded himself into the England shirt was to mark

0:53:16 > 0:53:20he is a classy player and classy individual. He's always going to

0:53:20 > 0:53:23create excitement when he gets the ball in his hands. It enables him to

0:53:23 > 0:53:28have the ball more often in these games, which is what England should

0:53:28 > 0:53:32be looking at doing, and doing that after some hard work upfront. It

0:53:32 > 0:53:39looked today... England were trying to force the pace of the game and

0:53:39 > 0:53:44force the passes a bit too much early on, and he had scraps, really.

0:53:44 > 0:53:50The two opportunities he got, he took, which shows his class. When it

0:53:50 > 0:53:54comes to locks, so much has gone on throughout the campaign, with George

0:53:54 > 0:53:59Kruis being dropped. Who in your mind going forward are the big names

0:53:59 > 0:54:03in that position for England? You made a mistake early on by saying

0:54:03 > 0:54:05that my favourite position was second row, but it's more

0:54:05 > 0:54:12scrum-half. Undoubtedly a positional strength for England, and incredible

0:54:12 > 0:54:15to have so many options in that position. The standout out of all

0:54:15 > 0:54:20those guys for me, and has been for a number of seasons, barring injury,

0:54:20 > 0:54:25always seems to be the guy that's there at the end in the man of the

0:54:25 > 0:54:33match sort of juggle, is Joe Launchbury. Everybody talks about

0:54:33 > 0:54:39Itojes and Kruiss and these guys, but he seems to be the standout

0:54:39 > 0:54:44performer for me every time.Samoa had plenty of bright points, but

0:54:44 > 0:54:49there was a lot of build-up to this match that involved their financial

0:54:49 > 0:54:53situation. Going forward, how important is it that we have strong

0:54:53 > 0:54:57Pacific island sides? It's crucial for rugby worldwide that we have

0:54:57 > 0:55:06strength in all teams. The Samoans and Tongans and Pacific Islands have

0:55:06 > 0:55:10incredible ability to play the game, but they need their best players on

0:55:10 > 0:55:15the pitch, playing for Samoa, Tonga and Fiji and, if finances come into

0:55:15 > 0:55:18it, and they are forced to look elsewhere to earn their crust, it

0:55:18 > 0:55:24means there is a lesser Samoan team, which deprives the public of a

0:55:24 > 0:55:30greater spectacle, and it deprives them of a chance of getting scalps

0:55:30 > 0:55:34against big teams, which they deserve to be able to do.Had played

0:55:34 > 0:55:37with aplomb, and they kept fighting until the end, and it might be the

0:55:37 > 0:55:42end of the autumn internationals for England, but that doesn't mean the

0:55:42 > 0:55:46autumn internationals are over yet Wales have one match remaining, that

0:55:46 > 0:55:54will be in Cardiff with South Africa at 2pm next Saturday. Then the

0:55:54 > 0:55:59Varsity matches from Twickenham on Thursday the 7th of December.

0:56:05 > 0:56:09Don't forget, you can download the rugby union weekly podcast from

0:56:09 > 0:56:16Monday. A former England international alongside Chris Jones

0:56:16 > 0:56:19and guests from across the game, reflecting on all the weekend's

0:56:19 > 0:56:27action. Download it to any of the usual places. Simon, tell me, what

0:56:27 > 0:56:29have we learned about England throughout this unbeaten or to

0:56:29 > 0:56:36national period? -- unbeaten Orton international period. Villa not much

0:56:36 > 0:56:41apart from results being everything. They have got the results they

0:56:41 > 0:56:45wanted and the school and everybody might have expected. I team have

0:56:45 > 0:56:52lacked the consistency it would take to consistently beat the top teams,

0:56:52 > 0:56:57the New Zealand and Australias. Going into the Six Nations, that is

0:56:57 > 0:57:01what Eddie Jones will want to see from his team, and I think possibly

0:57:01 > 0:57:04the inclusion of lots of new players, different combinations,

0:57:04 > 0:57:10trying Slade and Lozowski at centre, and making sure he's got a sort of

0:57:10 > 0:57:18second string combination, it's caused disruption, but this is all

0:57:18 > 0:57:22part of the learning process that will take them forward as a squad,

0:57:22 > 0:57:24and hopefully by the Six Nations everything will be settled and we'll

0:57:24 > 0:57:29be looking at another run of fantastic fixtures.

0:57:29 > 0:57:33Talk of the Six Nations, what do you think that Eddie Jones in particular

0:57:33 > 0:57:41will work on, and where does he rank as a coach of England? He now has 22

0:57:41 > 0:57:46wins out of 23 outings, pretty good statistics. It's amazing, and the

0:57:46 > 0:57:49fact that we are critiquing England sides that are consistently winning

0:57:49 > 0:57:58shows our expectations of them, it shows how good they hope to be. I

0:57:58 > 0:58:02think has obviously got them incredibly driven, their work ethic

0:58:02 > 0:58:09is without doubt, but as I say I think the thing he will most be

0:58:09 > 0:58:14looking for going into the Six Nations is getting his starting 22

0:58:14 > 0:58:19absolutely bang on and heating that tournament full throttle. I think

0:58:19 > 0:58:22this was a testing ground for a lot of players. Hopefully, he'll have

0:58:22 > 0:58:29settled on a side coming into the Six Nations, and they'll get that

0:58:29 > 0:58:32level of performance they are looking for.Thank you for your

0:58:32 > 0:58:38time, and your company at home. That is it for England in 2017. The next

0:58:38 > 0:58:41time we see them in action will be against Italy in the Six Nations.

0:58:41 > 0:58:46Goodbye for now

0:59:05 > 0:59:05Sit!
