:00:08. > :00:13.Hello there. Welcome to the BBC sports centre on another busy

:00:14. > :00:18.weekend. Yes, or no, we look at how the Scottish referendum could affect

:00:19. > :00:23.sport and a decade ago some unhappy Manchester United fans voted with

:00:24. > :00:26.their feet and formed a new club. We visit FC United. I'm Olly Foster and

:00:27. > :00:46.this is Saturday Sportsday. Let's look at some headlines. Rory

:00:47. > :00:51.McIlroy is still in contention for the $10 million bonus at Tour

:00:52. > :00:55.Championship in Atlanta. He is two off the lead. It is the last round

:00:56. > :01:03.of matches in the Super League season. Castleford, if they can

:01:04. > :01:10.finish top for the first time, if they can beat Catalan Dragons. Danny

:01:11. > :01:17.Welbeck is making his debut. This time next week, we'll know if

:01:18. > :01:20.Scotland is to remain in the UK. The referendum debate has focused

:01:21. > :01:23.on the economic implications of a Yes vote, but what of those

:01:24. > :01:26.Scottish sportsmen and women, how would it affect them?

:01:27. > :01:41.Chris McLaughlin reports. Scottish sporting heroes and moments

:01:42. > :01:51.that have proved pivotal in shaping a nation's pride. For Scots, sport

:01:52. > :01:58.is engrained in the psyche, but Scottish heroes are also British

:01:59. > :02:04.heroes. Andy Murray winning gold for Team GB at London 2012 under the

:02:05. > :02:08.Union Flag, but if Scotland votes yes, will he defend it for GB or a

:02:09. > :02:12.new Team Scotland? If Scotland became independent then I would

:02:13. > :02:16.imagine I would be playing for Scotland, yeah. I haven't thought

:02:17. > :02:20.that much about that yet because I don't think it is looking too

:02:21. > :02:24.likely. That was last week, but the polls suggest it could be close. So

:02:25. > :02:29.what would change and who would be affected? Well sports such as

:02:30. > :02:33.football and rugby would largely be unaffected. They are recognised on

:02:34. > :02:37.the international stage through their own governing bodies, but

:02:38. > :02:42.there could be a name change for the British and Irish Lions, but it is

:02:43. > :02:47.here on the track and in other Olympic disciplines where the change

:02:48. > :02:51.could be felt most and it is an issue being taken seriously in

:02:52. > :02:54.Scotland. So much so a former First Minister of Scotland was

:02:55. > :03:00.commissioned to provide a report looking at how things might change.

:03:01. > :03:04.We must make sure that every Scot who is participating has the same

:03:05. > :03:07.opportunities in the future, but more importantly we reassure and

:03:08. > :03:10.give confidence to young athletes coming through the system that their

:03:11. > :03:14.chances of victory won't be affected. Commonwealth Games in

:03:15. > :03:18.Glasgow underlined Scotland's passion for sport. The country

:03:19. > :03:26.hailed new heroes, but if it is a yes, can they hold on this them? The

:03:27. > :03:30.emotional lap of honour a memory, one athlete thinks switching is too

:03:31. > :03:36.risky. Myself and a lot of other athletes spend a lot of time down in

:03:37. > :03:39.England training because Scotland isn't able to provide us with the

:03:40. > :03:46.facilities and the funding that we need to compete at this level and

:03:47. > :03:49.probably my main question is if Scotland think that they would be

:03:50. > :03:55.able to do that then why haven't they done it up until now? Others

:03:56. > :03:59.who have plied their trade in both countries don't think the funding

:04:00. > :04:03.argument is valid. Nobody talks about the fact that Mo Farah trains

:04:04. > :04:07.in America. The money goes where the talent is and we have the talent in

:04:08. > :04:11.Scotland. We already pay for these things through the National Lottery

:04:12. > :04:15.and there is no reason why athletes wouldn't be able to continue using

:04:16. > :04:25.bases, facilities and things like in another country. Britain's Greatest

:04:26. > :04:27.similar peeian triumphed under two flags. Scotland's athletes may have

:04:28. > :04:33.to nail their colours on one mast. There's a British team competing

:04:34. > :04:35.at the Olympic Park this weekend against 12 other nations. The

:04:36. > :04:38.Invictus Games is an event for those in the Armed Forces who have been

:04:39. > :04:54.wounded or injured. Welcome to the Invictus Games. It

:04:55. > :05:00.was inspired by Prince Harry. A huge success already? It has amazing

:05:01. > :05:04.success. This event is showing the power of sport for recovery, you

:05:05. > :05:08.know. It has given these guys a chance to challenge themselves and

:05:09. > :05:12.it is just showing what sport can do for people. Real cue to say to

:05:13. > :05:18.Prince Harry because he has driven this? He has been amazing and to

:05:19. > :05:23.bring on an event like this and bring in disability sport into the

:05:24. > :05:27.forefront, it is superb. Great stories and great sport last night

:05:28. > :05:31.in the copper box with the wheelchair rugby match? We always

:05:32. > :05:36.like a nail biter and it went to the final seconds. GB beating the USA,

:05:37. > :05:41.Charlie Walker featuring highly in that match and he will be featuring

:05:42. > :05:43.today in the wheelchair basketball. What about the chances for the

:05:44. > :05:51.British team, do you think? They have been playing extremely well. I

:05:52. > :05:57.can foresee a GB, USA final again. Start biting your nails and get the

:05:58. > :06:01.excitement going. We will be back at 1pm on BBC One for coverage from day

:06:02. > :06:08.three of the Invictus Games. We have got cycling. We will see you then.

:06:09. > :06:11.It's another FA Cup weekend. We're up to the first qualifying round.

:06:12. > :06:14.FC United of Manchester are one of over 200 sides involved at this

:06:15. > :06:16.stage. They were formed by disillusioned Manchester United fans

:06:17. > :06:34.nine years ago. Patrick Gearey went to meet the red rebels.

:06:35. > :06:43.FC United, English football's punks. A club forged from rebellion against

:06:44. > :06:48.the Glazer family's ownership of Manchester United. Out of the anger

:06:49. > :06:53.of 2005 has come content. Across the city from Old Trafford, here they

:06:54. > :06:58.are building a new home one, one owned by the people who will stand

:06:59. > :07:04.on its terraces. : The fact that a football club of barely ten years

:07:05. > :07:08.old has been able to build a fantastic facility is testament to

:07:09. > :07:15.the support. We have over 3,000 members who are determined to make a

:07:16. > :07:23.difference to the game. COMMENTATOR: Incredible! FC got its

:07:24. > :07:28.biggest stage so far in the FA Cup in 2010. This late goal won the tie

:07:29. > :07:33.against a club four divisions above them. The Rebels were revelling.

:07:34. > :07:37.Punk football was briefly mainstream. People probably didn't

:07:38. > :07:42.know what FC United were about. It gives us the opportunity to show

:07:43. > :07:46.case what the fan ownership can bring to the party if you like. Four

:07:47. > :07:51.years on and a few miles away in their temporary home, the fans are

:07:52. > :07:58.still coming. But if the club is to progress, two compromises need to be

:07:59. > :08:03.made. Will they survive promotions. You only have to look at Germany,

:08:04. > :08:06.three-quarters of the clubs are owned by the fans in Germany. You

:08:07. > :08:14.need to look around and you see what fans can do. So I don't see why not.

:08:15. > :08:21.FC United fans are committed. 1800 turned up for a midweek northern

:08:22. > :08:25.premier match. They made their own entertainment. It finished nil-nil,

:08:26. > :08:29.but the noise and the songs haven't stopped. This is a club that defines

:08:30. > :08:33.itself as much off the field as what happens on it.

:08:34. > :08:37.A long Cup run would be adeal for FC right now, but whatever the future

:08:38. > :08:43.holds for them, these punks aren't turning the volume down!

:08:44. > :08:47.We will see how they get on against Prescot Cables in the Cup later.

:08:48. > :08:50.No goals so far between Arsenal and Manchester City.

:08:51. > :09:01.That's it. From all of us at the BBC Sport Centre, goodbye.
