:00:15. > :00:16.Hello and welcome to the BBC Sport Centre.

:00:17. > :00:21.We're focusing on the old and the new today -

:00:22. > :00:25.the teenage swimmer hoping to win a medal in Rio, a sport featuring

:00:26. > :00:28.at an Olympic Games for the very first time and an old car reinvented

:00:29. > :00:44.Lewis Hamilton will start from the back of the grid for the Chinese

:00:45. > :00:48.Grand Prix. He failed to set a qualifying time after engine

:00:49. > :00:54.trouble. He'd already picked up a penalty for a gearbox change. His

:00:55. > :01:00.team-mate took pole position. In the last few minutes, a British boxer

:01:01. > :01:03.has won a gold medal at an Olympic qualifying event in Turkey. He had

:01:04. > :01:08.already secured his place earlier this week. And there was a surprise

:01:09. > :01:13.victory in an Olympic qualifying time for Andrew Willis at the

:01:14. > :01:16.British swimming Championships. He will compete at the summer games.

:01:17. > :01:18.Now I've just mentioned British swimmers trying

:01:19. > :01:21.Well Paralympic athletes will follow suit when they compete

:01:22. > :01:25.at the European Championships in Madeira later this month.

:01:26. > :01:28.One of them is teenager Tully Kearney who's hoping to build

:01:29. > :01:35.on an impressive 2015 and win a medal this summer.

:01:36. > :01:36.Our reporter Kate Grey, herself a former Paralympic

:01:37. > :01:52.Tully Kearney is not your average 19-year-old. She has become a

:01:53. > :01:56.four-time world champion and has moved to Manchester with the hopes

:01:57. > :02:00.of competing at the Paralympics in Rio de Janiero. The recipe to her

:02:01. > :02:06.success could have something to do with going to the same school and

:02:07. > :02:10.swimming club as Ellie Simmonds. We live in the same village at home.

:02:11. > :02:15.She was one of my biggest inspirations. She was always there

:02:16. > :02:21.with her medals showing everyone. I remember looking at her unthinking,

:02:22. > :02:25.that's what I want to do. She certainly did at the World

:02:26. > :02:33.Championships in Glasgow last summer. She won three goals and

:02:34. > :02:36.broke world records. Glasgow was the first competition where I forgot

:02:37. > :02:45.about the pressure and everything. I did what I loved and raced. When you

:02:46. > :02:50.see your name and your world champion, such an amazing feeling

:02:51. > :02:55.and that is what I train for now. With thoughts of a repeat

:02:56. > :03:01.performance, she can access all the support she needs at the National

:03:02. > :03:06.performance Centre. It has been four years since I have retired from

:03:07. > :03:11.swimming and the sport has moved on a long way. This is the latest

:03:12. > :03:16.technology. It can measure the speed and angle of the dive. There are

:03:17. > :03:23.cameras above and below the water, providing further analysis. Do you

:03:24. > :03:31.feel this could be the difference of view winning a medal? Definitely. We

:03:32. > :03:39.can work together to help each other along. With Rio de Janiero

:03:40. > :03:43.approaching, that goal is not far away.

:03:44. > :03:45.Swimming was one of the original Olympic sports but Rugby Sevens

:03:46. > :03:48.will be included for the first time ever this summer.

:03:49. > :03:50.Thanks to the performances of the two England sides,

:03:51. > :03:52.both in action overnight, Team GB will have a men's

:03:53. > :04:07.David McDaid went to Vancouver to find out more about them.

:04:08. > :04:13.For now, they wear the Rose of England but in a few months, some

:04:14. > :04:29.will swap that for the lion of Team GB. It is a massive carrot, it keeps

:04:30. > :04:40.the guys interested. There is a feeling that it is like the British

:04:41. > :04:47.Lions. The Great Britain squad can use 15 aside names as well. Whilst

:04:48. > :04:53.they are already picking their squads in other countries, the plans

:04:54. > :04:58.are nice. It is proving to be difficult to get them on the

:04:59. > :05:04.circuit. What we are looking to do is in June, we will get all the

:05:05. > :05:09.nations together, hopefully we can get these guys in and give it our

:05:10. > :05:22.best shot. It is not the best plan in the world. But hopefully...

:05:23. > :05:34.The women are at a much more advanced stage. The initial squad

:05:35. > :05:42.includes World Cup winners and other talent. The girls get an opportunity

:05:43. > :05:49.to play the best part of a dozen games in the space of a fortnight.

:05:50. > :05:55.That gives us a chance to look at the combinations. Everybody comes

:05:56. > :06:06.together and it feels like a real team. It gives us the opportunity to

:06:07. > :06:11.compete for places. While racing's elite are in Shanghai

:06:12. > :06:14.for the Chinese Grand Prix, Silverstone is hosting the opening

:06:15. > :06:16.race of the World Endurance Ford's new GT race car

:06:17. > :06:19.is making its European debut and after a long absence

:06:20. > :06:22.from the sport they're hoping to replicate their first win 50

:06:23. > :06:24.years ago at Le Mans. Marino Frankitti is one

:06:25. > :06:27.of the drivers leading the charge. Nick Parrott met him and the car

:06:28. > :07:02.he fell in love with. So beautiful to look at and it was

:07:03. > :07:10.massively successful in endurance racing. Four years in a row at Le

:07:11. > :07:16.Monde is. It steam-rolled the opposition. When the opposition is

:07:17. > :07:23.mainly Ferrari, that is an impressive thing. If passion alone

:07:24. > :07:26.was enough to win committee would be a world champion many times over.

:07:27. > :07:35.The original Ford GT is his inspiration. The noise but it

:07:36. > :07:42.produced is amazing. This car was not a small step forward, it was

:07:43. > :07:53.going seven seconds faster, well over 200 mph. Now he has the chance

:07:54. > :08:01.to rekindle it with Le Mans. I started testing the car in the

:08:02. > :08:06.second half and now I'm part of the team. Back in the 1960s it was

:08:07. > :08:11.anything goes but now the rules dictate that the cars be more equal.

:08:12. > :08:18.Repeating history will not be easy. We have some incredible competition.

:08:19. > :08:26.Aston Martin, Ferrari, Porsche. Incredible competition. It is going

:08:27. > :08:31.to be a big ask to go there but we will try and achieve it with this

:08:32. > :08:37.car. Ford have spent millions to get this car ready. It will not make

:08:38. > :08:39.them any money at all but if they win as they did in the 60s, the

:08:40. > :08:41.prestige will be priceless. Let's update you on the Premier

:08:42. > :08:45.League lunchtime match. Norwich and Sunderland are both

:08:46. > :08:48.trying to avoid relegation.
