:00:30. > :00:35.At just 21 years old, Eve Muirhead has achieved so much in such a

:00:35. > :00:40.short time. The four time winner of the junior title, she has skipped

:00:40. > :00:45.her way to the senior championship in two of the last three years, but

:00:45. > :00:52.it didn't go her way 12 months ago when Anna Sloan range Supreme at

:00:52. > :00:57.the Scottish. They played together at junior level, winning the title

:00:57. > :01:01.in 2009 and 2011, so they joined forces again and stormed to victory

:01:01. > :01:07.in the European championships last year. It was a dream team everyone

:01:07. > :01:13.was aiming to beat this week. How low and a warm welcome to the

:01:13. > :01:16.Dewars Centre in Perth and the Co- Operative Funeralcare Scottish

:01:16. > :01:20.Women's Championship. The winner will go on to represent Scotland at

:01:20. > :01:27.the world championships later this year in Canada. Eve Muirhead is

:01:27. > :01:37.here to do battle, but her competitors were determined it

:01:37. > :02:14.

:02:14. > :02:18.Eve Muirhead faced Jackie. After eight ends it was all over, 9-2.

:02:19. > :02:23.After a week of intense competition, it came to the last two to go head

:02:23. > :02:27.to head for the Scottish title. I must speak to you about the

:02:27. > :02:32.experience you have had with this rink. How many times have you

:02:32. > :02:36.played before in these played before in these

:02:36. > :02:40.championships? None! How did you go about putting this rink together?

:02:40. > :02:46.tried some experienced people, and the option to put a few juniors

:02:46. > :02:51.together was put to me by the national coach, and I thought if I

:02:52. > :02:58.am going to do it, I am going to do it with some of my own. I have a

:02:58. > :03:05.few girls from Stranraer. I am guessing with two young girls and

:03:05. > :03:12.the rink, it must be a difficult job. To be honest, they do as they

:03:12. > :03:18.are told and it makes my job easy. You have had another great year,

:03:18. > :03:23.Eve. We could probably not have asked for a better season so far.

:03:23. > :03:28.We won the European Championships, and we got better and better. At

:03:28. > :03:38.the start of the year, we were not sure how we would go. So far, so

:03:38. > :03:45.

:03:45. > :03:51.good. Here is Eve's team. Gail Munroe won the Scottish in 2008

:03:51. > :03:54.with Lyndsay Cumming. In the commentary box, a lot of experience

:03:54. > :03:58.commentary box, a lot of experience - Jackie look at alongside Bob

:03:58. > :04:08.Kelly. We will join the match at the start of the third end. The

:04:08. > :04:34.

:04:34. > :04:39.She will go aggressive, she will put it in the corner. I have played

:04:39. > :04:49.with her long enough! She calls a pretty aggressive game, doesn't

:04:49. > :04:52.

:04:52. > :04:57.she? She likes to make the skill factor account. It is the kind of

:04:57. > :05:03.game you have got a call if you are going to succeed at the top level.

:05:03. > :05:12.The very much so. Even the Olympics. And she has that experience under

:05:12. > :05:17.her belt now, so she is happy to take the game on. It was really an

:05:17. > :05:25.amazing match-up between age and experience, and even youth and

:05:26. > :05:34.experience really. The Eve Muirhead team average age is 22, and yet

:05:34. > :05:38.between them they have a wealth of experience. Eve herself has four

:05:38. > :05:42.used world championships, a world championship silver medal, and an

:05:42. > :05:48.appearance at the Olympic Games. For somebody so young, it is really

:05:48. > :05:52.amazing. Yes, she has a fantastic future in the curling World. On the

:05:52. > :05:58.other hand, Gail Munroe has years of experience and I think that has

:05:58. > :06:04.shown this week. Earlier in the week she said she was playing this

:06:04. > :06:07.like every day curling. The that's right, because she and Lyndsay

:06:07. > :06:17.Cumming have a Scottish championship title under their

:06:17. > :06:27.

:06:27. > :06:32.the best out of them. Hamilton trying to get behind that guard

:06:32. > :06:38.that she placed, that is one of the reasons for putting it there.

:06:38. > :06:44.Either to make her draw around it, or to get a hit and roll. Not quite,

:06:44. > :06:54.but I think we will see if there is enough of this one available. Gail

:06:54. > :07:04.

:07:04. > :07:14.yellow. The yellow goes. It got a little help from her own one in the

:07:14. > :07:39.

:07:39. > :07:45.house, but she still lost it. It is is going to go too far. Yes, she

:07:45. > :07:50.wanted to hold that one, didn't she? Yes, she really needed to sit

:07:50. > :07:57.anywhere near the rings. As expected, Gail will take off the

:07:57. > :08:02.corner because that is the corner Eve needs to pick up her two.

:08:02. > :08:08.Cautious stuff from Gail Munroe, not wanting to leave this one in

:08:08. > :08:18.play. She will try to hit it, take away the options from her opponent,

:08:18. > :08:21.

:08:21. > :08:29.using that one as a guard. It looks like it is swinging too much. I

:08:29. > :08:34.don't think she is going to stick around. So, nothing in play. This

:08:34. > :08:43.is why these corner guards, as we call them short stones, are so

:08:43. > :08:53.important. Eve Muirhead always wanted to convert that into the

:08:53. > :08:59.

:08:59. > :09:05.score and at the moment there is she did. Still persevering with the

:09:05. > :09:10.short play. She has called the other side, which is always good.

:09:10. > :09:20.You like to try and old fox your opponents, and she is saying I will

:09:20. > :09:25.let you try the other side to see if you can hit and roll here.

:09:25. > :09:32.sun didn't come all that far off the centre line. I don't think it

:09:32. > :09:42.is an opportunity for Gail Munroe. Doesn't want to get this one on the

:09:42. > :09:46.

:09:46. > :09:56.nose. That is pretty much what she has done. Still there. Gail

:09:56. > :10:08.

:10:08. > :10:18.apologised and said sorry, so I am one, looks like a skipping error.

:10:18. > :10:44.

:10:44. > :10:48.It is Anna Sloan. Of these you two here. Very well worked by the

:10:48. > :10:56.sweeper's. She really needed to make as much room as possible

:10:56. > :11:06.between the red and the yellow. That lets you see what a team game

:11:06. > :11:11.

:11:11. > :11:18.it is. The Eve Muirhead herself sweeping. All three of them.

:11:19. > :11:23.that is a mistake from Lyndsay Cumming. Gail Munroe, her skip, was

:11:23. > :11:28.generous with the mistake she had with her first stone but I think we

:11:28. > :11:35.have to put a be to blame on Lyndsay Cumming for that one. That

:11:35. > :11:45.was a bad miss. Have to make contact with that red, so the Eve

:11:45. > :11:47.

:11:47. > :11:53.Muirhead team sitting won -- sitting nicely. You can see Eve

:11:53. > :12:03.Muirhead tapping her brush. They are trying to make sure there is no

:12:03. > :12:12.double take-out chance. Anna Sloan missed her draw to life two in the

:12:12. > :12:17.first end, but that was two lovely shots from Anna Sloan. Gail

:12:17. > :12:26.Munroe's team staring down they loss of two. Not a lot Gail Munroe

:12:26. > :12:35.can do here, other than hope for a mistake from Eve Muirhead. That is

:12:35. > :12:42.a key short Anna Sloan played. Right in behind the red, and that

:12:42. > :12:48.could be the stone that would give Eve Muirhead a's team a score of

:12:48. > :12:54.two that they would need. We were discussing how there is not much

:12:54. > :12:57.swaying on the ice but they certainly got that one round there.

:12:57. > :13:04.Certainly some stones this week have had more curling than others,

:13:04. > :13:08.whether you call them wrote stones or not, but the teams have been

:13:08. > :13:12.using them to their advantage. you are saying there is a

:13:12. > :13:22.difference to the way the stones are performing, and the teams have

:13:22. > :13:23.

:13:24. > :13:29.to try to identify those ones and use them to their advantage. Yes,

:13:29. > :13:33.we have had some that have drawn more or travelled further, so a big

:13:33. > :13:39.part of the game is matching your stones so you know what they are

:13:39. > :13:44.doing and how you can handle them. It has become a big bit of the game,

:13:44. > :13:54.and it is the teams that Hamble that side of it better that get the

:13:54. > :14:03.

:14:03. > :14:07.exactly where Anna Sloan had it. They really can't go too far back

:14:07. > :14:17.with this one. As long as they keep it in the house, that is a good

:14:17. > :14:22.

:14:22. > :14:29.this one. In doing so, she is saying to her but opponent I am

:14:29. > :14:36.going to draw for a two. Anything else, she could try to run the red

:14:37. > :14:42.back at the bottom of the picture, but she would have to hit it. She

:14:42. > :14:49.just has to settle for getting this one on the nose. Given Eve Muirhead

:14:49. > :14:59.a bit more to do them her last one. I think she will say, OK macro --

:14:59. > :15:00.

:15:00. > :15:10.OK, I am losing a two. But it will not be more than a two. That was as

:15:10. > :15:10.

:15:10. > :15:13.good as she could do. That is what Eve Muirhead will have to beat. I

:15:13. > :15:22.think she is playing it down the same line as that one. She is

:15:22. > :15:32.trying to play the same shot. The big chance for the Eve Muirhead

:15:32. > :15:55.

:15:55. > :16:05.team to get a two-shot lead in this Has she given this enough? I think

:16:05. > :16:06.

:16:06. > :16:10.that she has not got enough here. Go! Has she done it? What a

:16:10. > :16:20.sweeping. I did not think it was going to get anywhere near as far

:16:20. > :16:22.

:16:23. > :16:32.as that. She has made it just. After three ends, Eve Muirhead's

:16:33. > :16:53.

:16:53. > :16:57.team has got three. Gail Munro has to be in the rings. But I guess the

:16:57. > :17:00.girls have swept that as far as they could. She will be a bit

:17:00. > :17:10.disappointed with that. She will just pick up a two. You want to

:17:10. > :17:13.

:17:14. > :17:19.make sure you get your first shop top drawer. What do you think?

:17:19. > :17:26.would hope these girls have got plenty left to. They are part of

:17:26. > :17:30.the Scottish Institute UK Sport programme. They were training four

:17:30. > :17:34.times a week. They are on the ice practising at least three or four

:17:34. > :17:44.macro times a week so they should have the stamina. I will not feel

:17:44. > :17:46.

:17:46. > :17:56.sorry for them in that case! A couple of short stones there. Gail

:17:56. > :17:57.

:17:57. > :18:07.Munro's team at failing to take advantage. Clare is second.

:18:07. > :18:08.

:18:08. > :18:15.line is good, it is big. It is good now. It is a long way out, this one.

:18:15. > :18:23.Trying to come out there. The weight is pretty good, but I think

:18:23. > :18:27.that is wide open. Eve Muirhead of Peru that good. I don't suppose

:18:27. > :18:33.they have had that shot. They have not played that piece of ice. It

:18:33. > :18:38.would be nice to think that these services are the same all the way

:18:38. > :18:48.across, but that is not the case. It takes skill to know which bits

:18:48. > :18:53.

:18:53. > :19:03.curled a bit more all a bit less. Just rolled out a bit more than she

:19:03. > :19:04.

:19:04. > :19:14.wanted, of course. Easy barrier. Eve Muirhead, even although it she

:19:14. > :19:15.

:19:15. > :19:25.plays this defensive game, she does not have come at here. -- have the

:19:25. > :19:33.

:19:33. > :19:42.hammer. If you take out the key Well, but she did not hoard that

:19:42. > :19:47.one so now a bit of a chance for the Gail Munro's team. They will

:19:47. > :19:57.have been down this side two ends before so she should know what this

:19:57. > :20:21.

:20:21. > :20:28.guard. Where is the guard going to go? Good. It was not too bad. Got

:20:28. > :20:33.one in the rings. The bit to the left. Gail Munro does not want too

:20:33. > :20:38.many stones on that centre line area. She does not want the centre

:20:38. > :20:48.line to get too cluttered up. She will use her last stone if she

:20:48. > :20:54.

:20:55. > :21:04.was expecting, but she got it on the nose so that is the second best

:21:05. > :21:05.

:21:05. > :21:45.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 40 seconds

:21:45. > :21:49.that would be fine. But the short again. Just court this shot.

:21:49. > :21:52.Deflected it slightly. Still got the one on the house. But it had

:21:52. > :22:02.the effect of moving the stones away from the centre line and that

:22:02. > :22:26.

:22:26. > :22:35.is not so bad from woman to's point better. This has got a lot of

:22:35. > :22:45.drawing Today if it is going to get in. It seems to be doing all its

:22:45. > :22:50.swinging at the very last minute. But that is quite a few stones that

:22:50. > :22:55.the girls have slightly overcooked. They have got to get them pretty

:22:55. > :22:59.tight to make sure that they get them up. They cannot expect to get

:22:59. > :23:09.it at the last minute. They need to tighten up, straighten up a little

:23:09. > :23:16.

:23:16. > :23:23.bit. This one is open, trying to make the road. Very nice! Grayshott.

:23:23. > :23:29.-- great shot. Looking for the role in behind the two shortbread ones.

:23:29. > :23:39.Sweeping to hold the line. It is always dangerous if you never got

:23:39. > :24:02.

:24:02. > :24:07.behind the yellow properly. Gail plays it out of the left hand.

:24:07. > :24:17.Slightly easier for delivery and coming around the corner. Always

:24:17. > :24:22.

:24:22. > :24:30.good to have a left hand person in They are going to have to work hard.

:24:30. > :24:36.That is a lovely shot from an at Sloane. Very well played. Eve

:24:36. > :24:41.Muirhead knew exactly where to put the brush. Nicely executed by Anna

:24:41. > :24:46.Sloan. Had to be careful if that had over cold, it would have caught

:24:46. > :24:54.out red stone at the top. There was an element of danger there, but it

:24:55. > :25:01.was beautifully played by Ms Sloan. Nice sweeping. Linsey Cummings

:25:01. > :25:11.trying to follow the same stone now. Will she tried to move this? Maybe

:25:11. > :25:25.

:25:25. > :25:35.can you be? The girls tried to sweep that really well. There is a

:25:35. > :25:38.big swing -- swing. It looked quite a way out. Just a deflection.

:25:38. > :25:48.is a difference of a left hand person playing against a right hand

:25:48. > :26:08.

:26:08. > :26:17.person. The Yellowstone just left 12. Pretty much a right in front of

:26:17. > :26:27.the yellow. Already there. She said it was OK, that is a bit further in.

:26:27. > :26:43.

:26:43. > :26:50.Good. This looks wide and high. You have to put it down as a miss

:26:50. > :26:58.and that is not good. I think you can tell that she is not terribly

:26:58. > :27:03.happy with that. Nice let off for Gail Munro who would have been

:27:03. > :27:11.facing that yellow one at the guard. She will now get a chance to make a

:27:11. > :27:16.play on that one. I wonder whether it she might play it quietly, but

:27:16. > :27:24.it looks as if she might be trying a bit. There is that brush being

:27:24. > :27:33.held by Lynsey coming. It looks like she is trying to attack that

:27:33. > :27:43.back. Maybe she will try to get inside the left? Is there room to

:27:43. > :27:53.do that? It is going to be tight. That is a half wait. It is a poorer

:27:53. > :27:58.

:27:58. > :28:03.weight of than I thought she was intended, I think. She grew that

:28:03. > :28:13.harder than she had meant to Andy did not coal because of that. Just

:28:13. > :28:16.got half of it. I think this is where it comes down to confidence

:28:16. > :28:24.as well. If you are confident and you sit down and draw right up to

:28:24. > :28:34.it... Gale's draw did not draw that much. There was too much ice, too

:28:34. > :28:38.

:28:38. > :28:42.far away from the object stone. Without question, this game

:28:42. > :28:47.involves draws that are not like the ones we have had for the rest

:28:47. > :28:53.of the week. Quite difficult to readjust when you have been playing

:28:53. > :29:00.all week with big swings. It is good on the ice we have here, but

:29:00. > :29:09.maybe not the same. She really wanted to be in the top four. She

:29:09. > :29:14.is just slightly overthrowing. is in the rings. She is making Gail

:29:14. > :29:24.Munro face two. Certainly not what she was hoping for. They should be

:29:24. > :29:37.

:29:37. > :29:47.relatively simple for Gail Munro. I in than the last one was forced off

:29:47. > :29:50.

:29:50. > :29:56.this is a dangerous shot. It would be a simple shot just to get one in.

:29:56. > :30:02.The girls are sweeping this really hard. She has made a mistake there.

:30:02. > :30:12.I don't think we are eating any words, that is a big mistake. She

:30:12. > :30:21.

:30:21. > :30:31.has given two to the Muirhead team. Muirhead as ruthless as ever. In

:30:31. > :30:41.

:30:41. > :30:51.the sixth end she was playing catch-up. The deserters say, a team

:30:51. > :30:51.

:30:51. > :30:57.get the two shops up, gets too defensive, you have got to be

:30:57. > :31:03.careful. As you pointed out earlier, you can lose the two, get a one,

:31:03. > :31:13.lose a two, and you can lose the lead very quickly. They that is all

:31:13. > :31:13.

:31:13. > :31:58.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 40 seconds

:31:58. > :32:06.it takes. Gail Munro could be right mistake Gail Munro was looking for.

:32:06. > :32:12.It doesn't guarantee making a two. Lyndsay Cumming has got to get a

:32:12. > :32:22.draw round that one, and it could set them up to make a two, get

:32:22. > :32:33.

:32:33. > :32:38.right back into the game. They think about, they have just got to

:32:38. > :32:48.get the ice right. They are not touching this one at all, it looks

:32:48. > :33:00.

:33:00. > :33:04.like it could be running a little problem of course is it is so far

:33:04. > :33:12.back there is a fair bit of distance between them, and it makes

:33:12. > :33:18.it easier for Eve Muirhead. She can play a take out on it. How much do

:33:18. > :33:28.you think she will seek of that one? I think she can probably seek

:33:28. > :33:45.

:33:45. > :33:52.it is no problem. Nicely played. A big weight from Eve, she cracked

:33:52. > :33:58.that one up. We still leave the yellow one up here, and we still

:33:59. > :34:05.leave the opportunity for Gail Munro to better this draw. Putting

:34:05. > :34:11.the pressure on Eve again. Yes, really got to make this one though.

:34:11. > :34:21.Gail Munro to throw, so only two stones left in this end. She really

:34:21. > :34:42.

:34:42. > :34:49.wants to count them both so this She took more ice than Lyndsay

:34:49. > :34:53.Cumming has, but that is not to say she is playing a swinging stone.

:34:53. > :34:58.more of these stones moved a little bit more than others. The art was a

:34:58. > :35:04.nice try but I don't think it finished at the end as much as she

:35:04. > :35:14.was expecting. I think it is pretty much the same shot for Eve. She can

:35:14. > :35:17.

:35:17. > :35:27.probably see about half of this one from the far end. Just didn't took

:35:27. > :35:54.

:35:54. > :36:00.--tuck in enough. She will be happy close was that?! You can tell from

:36:00. > :36:10.the pitch in Eve's voice that she was worried about that one. A touch
