:00:45. > :00:51.Hello and welcome to the highlights of the second half of the 2012

:00:51. > :00:57.Scottish Rally Championships. Title-holder David Bogie and Barrie

:00:57. > :01:07.Brown are joint leaders after four was. But was all to play for as the

:01:07. > :01:07.

:01:08. > :01:12.title race went into overdrive. It started in Dumfries. The Scottish

:01:12. > :01:15.Rally is David Bogie's home event so you was looking for a strong

:01:15. > :01:20.performance to get his season back on track after not finishing the

:01:20. > :01:28.last contest. I am really looking forward to it today, the Home Rally,

:01:28. > :01:33.I am just raring to go. It was a welcome return for Navigator,

:01:33. > :01:38.Kirsty Riddoch, who was back in action with the effervescent Jock

:01:38. > :01:42.Armstrong from Castle Douglas. have been cutting through the gears

:01:42. > :01:46.a bit quicker so that gives you an overall per mile speed that major

:01:46. > :01:52.perhaps a third of a mile quicker. With me getting older, I need the

:01:52. > :01:56.car to be quicker, so it is a good combination! Last season Euan

:01:56. > :02:02.Thorburn and Mike falter were neck and neck for second place Machen

:02:02. > :02:06.the Championship, with Euan Thorburn eventually clinching it.

:02:06. > :02:11.It is going to be really tough out there. It is going to be a great

:02:11. > :02:16.battle all day. I am looking forward to it. Whatever the weather

:02:16. > :02:22.does, it makes conditions a little bit treacherous. Perhaps

:02:22. > :02:28.surprisingly, championship leader Barry Groundwater was not confident

:02:28. > :02:32.of cementing his position. There is after a bitter competition. I might

:02:32. > :02:39.be going backwards. The member, drivers get dirty poise for the

:02:39. > :02:49.victory, 28 per second, 27 for 80, 26 for fourth place, and so on,

:02:49. > :03:00.

:03:00. > :03:03.down to 1.4 finishing 29th. -- one., For -- one point. David Bogie

:03:03. > :03:10.seemed to use the disappointment of failing to finish the last event to

:03:10. > :03:16.spur him on in stage one. He and his co-driver completed the 8.5

:03:16. > :03:20.miles 18 seconds quicker than closest challenger, Jock Armstrong.

:03:20. > :03:30.In the first stage of any Rally, you want to put in a good enough

:03:30. > :03:37.

:03:37. > :03:40.About six corners in I slid a wide, then got onto really slippy stuff,

:03:40. > :03:48.then it knocks you back a bit and you have got to build your

:03:48. > :03:54.confidence again. Time-wise, we don't know what day was, but might

:03:54. > :03:58.balk but did not seem to come out, so I don't know. A whilst Armstrong

:03:58. > :04:06.and David Bogie were satisfied with their first stage efforts, the same

:04:06. > :04:10.could not be said of Euan Thorburn. I was going well and then a mile

:04:10. > :04:20.and a half towards the end I just got no power at all, tried

:04:20. > :04:30.everything. It is pretty frustrating. You could just keep

:04:30. > :04:33.

:04:33. > :04:38.going but we just lost that much Rory Young and Allan Cathers in an

:04:38. > :04:44.older Mitsubishi Lancer a Evo 5 were going well, in third place

:04:44. > :04:49.overall. But they only led Mike Walker and Peter Foy by the most

:04:49. > :04:55.slender margin, with less than a second separating them after a

:04:55. > :05:02.stage one. Barry Groundwater with Neil Shanks made up the top five, a

:05:02. > :05:08.brother three seconds behind Faulkner. The rain swept in at the

:05:08. > :05:16.start of stage two, but it did not affect David Bogie, consolidating

:05:16. > :05:26.first place. Armstrong and Riddick were again the closest challengers,

:05:26. > :05:27.

:05:27. > :05:32.completing a windy hill, two seconds slower than the challengers.

:05:32. > :05:40.Faulkner and Foy eased into the top three. That was despite losing time

:05:40. > :05:45.to a suspension problem. The risk was that there was that joint there,

:05:45. > :05:51.feeling, so with about 10 minutes to go they found that and they a

:05:51. > :05:56.cracking on, changing that. Barry Groundwater moved up one place to

:05:56. > :06:03.ride into the top four and keep his title challenge on course. And

:06:03. > :06:09.Bonnie McDonald from Inverness made up the top five after a storming

:06:09. > :06:12.drive through Windy Hill. From experience in the past in this

:06:12. > :06:22.Rally, that area was not technologically good for me, but I

:06:22. > :06:35.

:06:35. > :06:37.have got through that, and I will Talk before the event had been

:06:37. > :06:42.about whether Euan Thorburn could finish his Reivers Rally victory by

:06:42. > :06:47.beating David Bogie on his home turf. The results from stage three

:06:47. > :06:53.suggested that if it did not been for the earlier problems, the

:06:53. > :06:56.driver from Barnes might have given the charm a run for his money. Euan

:06:56. > :07:02.Thorburn got round almost 10 seconds quicker than David Bogie,

:07:02. > :07:06.and moved up to third place. But, David Bogie was still well out in

:07:06. > :07:16.front, and it looked as if the battle would be for the minor

:07:16. > :07:18.

:07:18. > :07:22.Armstrong was still in second spot, holding off Euan Thorburn, with a

:07:23. > :07:30.lead of 21 seconds. A great comeback for the Castle Douglas

:07:30. > :07:33.driver. Onstage four, Euan Thorburn again set a pace that nobody else

:07:33. > :07:39.could live with, taking the stage by five seconds from David Bogie

:07:39. > :07:49.and closing the gap on Armstrong to just nine seconds. He was left to

:07:49. > :07:51.

:07:51. > :08:01.rue his shock Filia. It is part of the game, I suppose. -- failure.

:08:01. > :08:02.

:08:02. > :08:08.David Bogie faced a couple of tricky moments. A very long two

:08:08. > :08:13.right, over 100. He was still 39 seconds ahead of Jock Armstrong.

:08:13. > :08:19.The short blast through the spectator stage was next. Then, it

:08:19. > :08:24.was on to the longest stage of the event. It was a test that held a

:08:24. > :08:27.bad memories for David Bogie. a puncture on it last year and it

:08:27. > :08:31.cost me the victory, so I am under no illusions that the same can

:08:31. > :08:36.happen again. I was trying to keep it out of trouble, but the pace has

:08:36. > :08:40.quickened. Jock Armstrong was able to take advantage of that puncture

:08:40. > :08:45.the previous year and win the event, but he was more preoccupied about

:08:45. > :08:50.holding off Euan Thorburn. Euan Thorburn has come back massively.

:08:50. > :09:00.He is 21 seconds quicker on that stage, and 10 seconds quicker than

:09:00. > :09:10.David, so he has found a bit of speed. I might be one down on the

:09:10. > :09:31.

:09:31. > :09:36.David Bogie was quickest through Heathhall. With Armstrong and

:09:36. > :09:40.Riddick holding on to second position. They increased their lead

:09:40. > :09:45.over Euan Thorburn and Paul Beaton to just over 11 seconds, going on

:09:45. > :09:49.to the longest stage of the day. On that final test, David Bogie and

:09:49. > :09:53.Euan Thorburn finished with the joint fastest time, put in the

:09:53. > :09:59.result of the event beyond doubt, it was the 4th win of the season

:09:59. > :10:05.were David Bogie. Euan Thorburn did just enough to make second from

:10:05. > :10:12.Armstrong, but he was pondering what might have been. You try very

:10:12. > :10:19.hard, and that is all we could have done, really. We got second, which

:10:19. > :10:25.is probably unbelievable, after this morning's stage the. Jock

:10:25. > :10:29.Armstrong made an impressive comeback the Finnish in third place.

:10:29. > :10:33.We're all on that tender area, today, but those boys have beaten

:10:33. > :10:43.me today, fair and square. again, there was no stopping David

:10:43. > :10:43.

:10:43. > :10:50.Bogie. In has been a very good beer. -- it has been a very good day. The

:10:50. > :10:54.pace has been very good. Everybody has been trying out. I have really

:10:54. > :10:59.enjoyed it. After three second place finishes, Mike Walker was

:10:59. > :11:08.disappointed not to make it onto the podium, but he was lucky to

:11:08. > :11:11.reach the end at all. I nosedived into the ground and the were still

:11:11. > :11:16.accelerating when we should have been braking, going at about 40

:11:16. > :11:25.miles an hour too fast, and then be straight down the pits for about

:11:25. > :11:29.100 yards. Local crew Peter Stuart and Phil Short were not as

:11:29. > :11:39.fortunate as Faulkner. They left the road near the end of the final

:11:39. > :11:41.

:11:41. > :11:46.Emergency crews were quickly at the scene, and Peter and Phil were

:11:46. > :11:51.taken to hospital in Dumfries. Phil is get that bad bruising and Peter

:11:51. > :11:55.returned home a few days later after treatment in Glasgow. The

:11:55. > :12:00.car's receive the equipment had done its job, although the drivers

:12:00. > :12:03.will take a bit longer to mend. Barry Groundwater, who shared the

:12:03. > :12:09.Championship lead with David Bogie going into the weekend would not

:12:09. > :12:13.have been too pleased to have finished in fifth place. David

:12:13. > :12:23.Wilson and co-driver David Robson took the honours and the two-wheel

:12:23. > :12:27.

:12:27. > :12:37.drive category in their mark to Ford Escort. -- Mark II. The table

:12:37. > :12:57.

:12:57. > :13:00.When the RSAC roadshow hit Elgin, for the Speyside Rally, the sixth

:13:00. > :13:06.event in the Championship calendar, you know that you're approaching

:13:06. > :13:10.the business end of the competition. David Bogie was looking for is that

:13:10. > :13:14.successive victory at the event. There were and number of other

:13:14. > :13:18.Rally crews snapping at his heels, not least Euan Thorburn, who knew

:13:18. > :13:22.that nothing but a victory would do in this event, to keep his

:13:22. > :13:31.championship hopes alive. It is going to be a sprint race, so we

:13:31. > :13:37.have to be on it from the word go. When you get to this point in the

:13:37. > :13:47.season everything is very closer. This is where whoever wins the

:13:47. > :13:47.

:13:47. > :14:44.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 56 seconds

:14:44. > :14:50.Championship will start to pull After the two glass around the park,

:14:50. > :14:58.John Armstrong held a slim one- second lead from Barry Armstrong --

:14:58. > :15:02.jock Armstrong held the lead from Barry Groundwater. Euan Thornburn

:15:02. > :15:07.was tied on time with David Bogie. Might fall no made up the top five

:15:07. > :15:17.but the event would not really take shape until the event moved into

:15:17. > :15:42.

:15:42. > :15:46.The stage is suited Euan Thornburn and Paul Beaton in their Ford Focus.

:15:46. > :15:50.The superior traction and handling of the world rally car meant the

:15:50. > :15:58.crew could take advantage of running first on the smooth roads.

:15:58. > :16:02.By the end of stage four, they had recorded two fastest stage times

:16:02. > :16:10.and where six seconds ahead of Armstrong and co-driver Kirsty

:16:10. > :16:14.Riddick. They were still finding their Subaru Impreza. More

:16:14. > :16:22.importantly for Thornburn's hopes of winning the title, he put 16

:16:22. > :16:25.seconds between himself and David Bogie. Kevin Ray was third. Mike

:16:25. > :16:31.Faulkner and Peter for you were doing well to hang on to their

:16:31. > :16:41.coat-tails. And there was a spirited effort from Chris Collie

:16:41. > :16:47.and Lisa Watson in their egos six to complete the top five -- in

:16:47. > :16:54.their Mitsubishi evoke six. They all drove the test quicker than

:16:54. > :16:59.organisers thought they could. Thornburn, Armstrong and Bogie were

:16:59. > :17:06.all given the same scratch time. The stages are fantastic and they

:17:06. > :17:13.really drive corner, corner, corn and fast car stuff as well. Euan's

:17:13. > :17:18.car will help him but he still is the driver of the car and they

:17:18. > :17:23.cannot take it away from him. He is put in the car together now. Good

:17:23. > :17:31.on him. It would be nice to be -- beat him, that is all!

:17:31. > :17:34.defending champion was not having the best day behind the wheel.

:17:34. > :17:39.there was a misfire and the car in front stopped in the middle of the

:17:39. > :17:49.Road. We lost a bit of time there. Int Comm failed two-thirds through

:17:49. > :17:49.

:17:49. > :17:52.the stage and then we all beat the normal time. Mike Faulkner had been

:17:52. > :18:02.4th in the previous round in Dumfries and he was struggling to

:18:02. > :18:02.

:18:02. > :18:07.The Indonesian pairing of Donny MacDonald and Andrew fog now have

:18:07. > :18:17.been quietly increasing their pace through the season. Although only

:18:17. > :18:18.

:18:18. > :18:22.30 be in the championship in Elgin -- only 30th. If they did have a

:18:22. > :18:32.moment, it has given us a chance for fingers crossed to be behind

:18:32. > :18:46.

:18:46. > :18:56.Thornburn recorded another fastest stage time to pull 18 seconds clear

:18:56. > :18:59.

:18:59. > :19:03.But the most remarkable result of the day came on stage seven where

:19:03. > :19:09.the front three recorded exactly the same time on the seven-mile

:19:09. > :19:15.test. By this time, Quentin Milne thought he had forced himself into

:19:15. > :19:20.the reckoning, grabbing 5th spot from McDonald. But after

:19:20. > :19:24.discovering he picked up a time penalty on stage six, Quentin Milne

:19:24. > :19:28.decided to retire and save the car for the next event.

:19:28. > :19:38.Chris Collie with co-pilot Lisa Watson had slipped down to 7th and

:19:38. > :20:06.

:20:07. > :20:12.would finish one place higher for Thornburn and Paul Beaton looked to

:20:12. > :20:15.be home, it they recorded their second event winner of the season.

:20:15. > :20:22.More importantly, he kept the championship fight alive for

:20:22. > :20:29.another round. We need two more of these. That is the plan. It will be

:20:29. > :20:34.hard to beat David in the championship now. I am chuffed.

:20:34. > :20:40.real battle was for second place. Armstrong and Riddick had been

:20:40. > :20:42.reeled in and held on their one- second lead over Bogie and Ray in

:20:43. > :20:49.third. With crucial championship points at stake and time running

:20:49. > :20:54.out, Bogie put in a final push to grab second spot. Bogie had done

:20:54. > :20:59.enough and he claimed the runner- up's position by a single second.

:20:59. > :21:02.Hopefully things will fall into place. As I say, this will not be

:21:02. > :21:08.easy. These guys are all driving very hard so we will see what

:21:08. > :21:14.happens. There was a hack Tipping performance from Ian Robertson and

:21:14. > :21:18.Keith Nicol who finished 11th overall who finished in their Ford

:21:18. > :21:22.Escort Mark two. And there was a hugely impressive drive by John

:21:22. > :21:32.Boyd and Chris Williamson in their Ford Fiesta S T who maintained

:21:32. > :21:40.

:21:40. > :21:48.leader board is building to an exciting climax. Barry Groundwater

:21:48. > :21:52.his 5th. John McClory is for. Mike Faulkner his third. You and the

:21:52. > :22:02.armed bun's victory pushes him into second. But David Bogie is still

:22:02. > :22:03.

:22:03. > :22:07.out in front with 148 points. Euan Thornburn is in second.

:22:07. > :22:14.The penultimate event on the calendar, only four stages long,

:22:14. > :22:19.one of them was the 19 miles long. Euan Thornburn had to win to keep

:22:19. > :22:25.the championship alive. David Bogie only had to finish second to claim

:22:25. > :22:30.a 4th consecutive SRC Crown. have just got be serious about what

:22:30. > :22:33.we are doing and try to drive fast and keep the car on the road.

:22:33. > :22:40.know what we have to do today, it is really straight forward, we have

:22:40. > :22:46.to win. I'm looking forward to it. You could not discount last year's

:22:46. > :22:56.Merit winner, Mike felt there. is a tight battle between UN and

:22:56. > :23:03.

:23:03. > :23:10.David -- last year's Merrick when co-driver Paul Beaton made it clear

:23:10. > :23:15.that David Bogie would have to win. They blasted through the stage five

:23:15. > :23:21.seconds quicker than anyone else. The stage was not easy. It was

:23:21. > :23:25.slippy and narrow with big rocks. There was a long section at the end.

:23:25. > :23:32.They were forcing us off the track into the grass. We were really

:23:32. > :23:40.lucky there. Need to calm down a bit for the rest. Bogie and

:23:40. > :23:45.navigator Kevin Ray were second. Local driver Jock Armstrong were a

:23:45. > :23:51.further four seconds adrift. I know we are losing time-outs at

:23:51. > :23:55.junctions, it is a bit scrappy. We are having to decide what tired to

:23:55. > :24:04.use. But tie lasted well for the first stage but whether it would go

:24:04. > :24:14.90 miles, I don't know. Might form now and Peter for we were 4th

:24:14. > :24:22.

:24:23. > :24:31.another fastest time. But the effort could have cost them.

:24:31. > :24:35.box is stuck in 6th gear. La three or four and Miles, could not get

:24:35. > :24:40.down through the box so had to concentrate. Have to see if I can

:24:40. > :24:45.fix it. Bogie and Ray were steady enough

:24:45. > :24:50.and second but they also had problems picking up a puncture with

:24:50. > :24:54.3.5 miles left to run through the forest. I was all over the place.

:24:54. > :25:03.It is real braves stuff and the last thing you want is the back end

:25:03. > :25:09.moving about. It was not ideal. The stage itself was in good condition.

:25:09. > :25:16.It was one rock. Jock Armstrong and Kirsty Riddick were clinging on to

:25:16. > :25:21.third spot. But all eyes were on the service bay of teen Thornburn

:25:21. > :25:25.and the sounds were not looking good. There is an oil leak coming

:25:25. > :25:30.from somewhere so we have to see where it is coming from and if we

:25:30. > :25:36.can go out in the last two stages. I want to stay in the league if we

:25:36. > :25:39.can. But potentially, it could be over. Fingers crossed for good news.

:25:39. > :25:45.While the mechanics worked feverishly to get the car back on

:25:45. > :25:49.the road, there was advice and concern from his closest rival.

:25:49. > :25:56.good at this stage so hopefully he gets back out. It is not what you

:25:56. > :26:02.want to see. It is not what I want to see but hopefully they will get

:26:02. > :26:07.back out. Euan Thornburn was making desperate attempts to contact his

:26:07. > :26:14.car preparation company to see if there was a fix for the oil problem.

:26:14. > :26:19.If he did not get out of service, his title hopes would vanish.

:26:19. > :26:27.oil in the system. If I ran dry it will knacker the transmission. We

:26:27. > :26:37.will have to see if we can top the oil up. Finally, the car burst into

:26:37. > :26:38.

:26:38. > :26:44.life. But could he keep it going until the end? The pump is not

:26:44. > :26:54.working. It is on manual shift. If you can keep the oil in, it will be

:26:54. > :27:27.

:27:27. > :27:36.duty the Duns driver's gearbox had consolidated his third position

:27:36. > :27:40.in the event and led a 4th place might Faulkner by 20 seconds.

:27:40. > :27:45.Donnie MacDonald and Andrew Faulkner were putting together

:27:45. > :27:48.another consistent performance to boost themselves into 5th.

:27:48. > :27:55.Thornburn's extra long service stop meant he had lost his place in the

:27:55. > :27:58.running order so Bogie went not knowing whether his adversary was

:27:58. > :28:03.still in the event. When he came at the other side in the second

:28:03. > :28:08.quickest time for the stage, he was taking nothing for granted. I don't

:28:08. > :28:11.know if he left service for a start. It is always the same, the last

:28:11. > :28:16.stage in the rally, the one that could decide the championship, it

:28:16. > :28:20.is about keeping it under control, not getting any punctures and that

:28:20. > :28:24.is what we have done. I think we have been pretty cautious. Sadly

:28:24. > :28:34.for Thornburn, his mechanical problems meant he had retired

:28:34. > :28:48.

:28:48. > :28:52.thought for Euan Thorburn, who had come into this season with a new

:28:52. > :28:59.car that he had begun to master, and he had begun to push David

:29:00. > :29:05.Bogie, but it was not quite enough. There is hard to put into words,

:29:05. > :29:10.obviously, he deserves it, but it is not very good, finishing like

:29:10. > :29:15.this. I think it is something that is going to sink in come tomorrow

:29:15. > :29:20.morning. I am very happy, I have had a hard you, but an enjoyable

:29:20. > :29:25.rear -- year. The podium was completed by Jock Armstrong, who

:29:25. > :29:29.finished second, at last year's's winner, Mike Faulkner, was third.

:29:29. > :29:33.The title might have been decided but it was still all to play for in

:29:33. > :29:43.the race for second place. Barry Groundwater is tough with 115

:29:43. > :30:05.

:30:05. > :30:09.With the title sewn up, Euan Thorburn and Mike Faulkner went

:30:09. > :30:14.into the last event of the season battling for second place in the

:30:14. > :30:24.Championship. If Euan Thorburn finished nor an fourth place, he

:30:24. > :30:25.

:30:25. > :30:33.would secure his second overall runners-up position. David Bogie

:30:33. > :30:39.had elected to take part in a Ford Escort Mark 2, hired in from

:30:39. > :30:42.Ireland for the day. There is no comparison. The similarity being

:30:42. > :30:46.that the car is always pulling at the front end whereas now there is

:30:46. > :30:50.no pool at the front end and we're working with the rear, so it is

:30:50. > :30:55.completely different. It will be a learning curve, so I am just

:30:55. > :30:59.desperate to get a couple of stages out of the way. David Bogie and

:30:59. > :31:08.Kevin Rea led off the event with plenty enthusiasm but no great

:31:09. > :31:18.His it would be interesting to see how the Scottish champion cope with

:31:19. > :31:36.

:31:36. > :31:41.the new car over such a challenging himself on the field from the start.

:31:41. > :31:47.But his challenge was over almost before it began. At the third

:31:47. > :31:55.corner of stage one has Ford Focus world rally car hit a rock. It has

:31:55. > :31:58.altered in suspension and will damage. -- will damage. You must be

:31:58. > :32:04.gutted that that end to the season. The season did not start well and

:32:04. > :32:09.it has ended on a bad note. It is my fault, we got a puncture and it

:32:09. > :32:13.shocked at the wheel back. We did get to the end of the stage. Fair

:32:13. > :32:22.play to Mike, he has done well all year, so he probably deserves it.

:32:22. > :32:26.It is just a bad weekend. The way was clear for Mike Walker and Peter

:32:26. > :32:30.Foy to claim second in the Championship. Even and on Finnish

:32:30. > :32:35.would not scupper their chances, but the peer were desperate to win

:32:35. > :32:39.the event and were lying in Max second place after a stage one. At

:32:39. > :32:45.the start of the season Quinton Milne had been the experts' tip to

:32:45. > :32:48.do well, but mechanical gremlins torpedoed his title hopes long ago.

:32:48. > :32:55.Driving without the pressure of having to win seemed to suit

:32:55. > :33:01.Clinton Milne. And he raced into the lead with a 2.5 second cushion

:33:01. > :33:06.over Mike Faulkner. Chris Cawley and Lisa wasn't were going well in

:33:06. > :33:13.that third place, one place ahead of... Barry Groundwater and Mel

:33:13. > :33:21.Shanks, who had also started well, doing their prospects of ending in

:33:21. > :33:28.the top five no harm at all. Falter and for a clear round stage two,

:33:28. > :33:37.Griffin. They could not overhaul the Aberdeenshire driver in the

:33:37. > :33:42.overall standings. Watson put another determined drive in through

:33:42. > :33:47.Griffin and retained their place. The battle water supplies was

:33:47. > :33:53.getting interesting. John McClory went through five seconds quicker

:33:53. > :33:59.than Barry Groundwater. David Bogie had not started well in his Escort

:33:59. > :34:05.Mk II, coming early 23rd place after stage one, but the champion

:34:05. > :34:10.that he is, he hauled himself back up into 12th place, 33 seconds down

:34:10. > :34:17.on the leader, Quintin Milne. Last year's dreadful weather made

:34:17. > :34:21.servicing a nightmare, so organisers use the Community Campus

:34:21. > :34:28.in Aberfeldy as the first stopping the event. After these two stages,

:34:28. > :34:32.how has it been? In it has certainly been a challenge, we got

:34:32. > :34:36.a puncture towards the end of the stage, so it was not an ideal start

:34:36. > :34:39.but we were happy with the time on the second stage. We said we would

:34:40. > :34:45.get the first two stage is out of the way and push on from there,

:34:45. > :34:51.that is what he did. For second place in the Championship confirm,

:34:51. > :35:01.Faulkner and Folly had their sights set on catching Quintin Milne.

:35:01. > :35:09.

:35:09. > :35:18.Despite some mechanical scares, the two, and then we had a scare just

:35:18. > :35:28.towards the end of the stage. It did not cost us any real time. We

:35:28. > :35:55.

:35:55. > :36:04.three, coming in pence seconds ahead of London Milne. -- Faulkner

:36:04. > :36:07.continued. It was bad news for Chris Cawley and Lisa wasn't the

:36:07. > :36:12.drop-out due to mechanical problems, a disappointing end to what had

:36:12. > :36:20.been a good season. Barry Groundwater kept his nose in front

:36:20. > :36:25.of John McClory, and found himself 11 seconds clear. David Bogie made

:36:25. > :36:31.a big charge through the field, completing the stage 4th quickest

:36:31. > :36:38.to move into fifth place overall. Not bad for somebody who only had a

:36:38. > :36:45.brief test drive in de Escort Mk II the previous week. Faulkner failed

:36:45. > :36:54.to start stage four because of electrical problems, so Quinton

:36:54. > :37:01.Milne recapture the lead 29 seconds ahead of Barry Groundwater. He was

:37:01. > :37:06.still leading, but could not shake John McClory. Until a puncture in

:37:06. > :37:12.Stage 5 put a dent in the challenge from the Glasgow driver. We thought

:37:12. > :37:17.we had reeled in Barry Groundwater in the first three a four stages,

:37:17. > :37:24.but he has managed to get away. He was due some luck and we were you

:37:24. > :37:27.some bad luck, so here we go. Quentin Milne was fastest truce

:37:27. > :37:32.these five and was beginning to pull away from the second-placed

:37:33. > :37:37.Barry Groundwater. David Bogie charged through Stage 5 in the

:37:37. > :37:42.second quickest time and now found himself in a podium position at one

:37:42. > :37:47.stage left. E each stage is getting better and better. I am not sure

:37:47. > :37:51.what the time was like in that last stage, but certainly, it felt good

:37:51. > :37:57.and I felt like the car, I knew what it was going to do, but we

:37:57. > :38:02.have got a long way to go. If David Bogie was back in familiar

:38:02. > :38:12.territory, the same cannot be said of Clinton Milne, who was making

:38:12. > :38:16.

:38:16. > :38:20.his crew work overtime to help him win his first src event. I have had

:38:21. > :38:27.a pretty tormented year, getting punctures and mechanical failures,

:38:27. > :38:32.the last one was my fault, but if I can keep it together for one more

:38:32. > :38:39.stage it would be a great end to the season. It is looking promising

:38:39. > :38:42.if you can keep it together. I hope so. It is truly rough out there.

:38:42. > :38:47.That second last one, you have got your fingers crossed that you do

:38:47. > :38:57.not get a puncture. Are you going to take it a little more calmly, or

:38:57. > :38:57.

:38:57. > :39:49.Apology for the loss of subtitles for 56 seconds

:39:49. > :39:53.steady progress and had climbed to fourth place by end of stage 5. He

:39:53. > :40:02.fell back to fifth place, but it has been another cracking season

:40:02. > :40:06.for the Inverness driver. Unbelievably, bearded bogies cost

:40:06. > :40:13.around in the quickest time to finish third in the event. Bus -

:40:13. > :40:19.David Bogie. He elected not to score SRC points so as not to

:40:19. > :40:22.interfere with the battle for places. The first time in a rear-

:40:22. > :40:27.wheel-drive car, it feels like I have won the rally, it has been a

:40:27. > :40:31.very enjoyable day, first-class stages, very slippy, very muddy,

:40:31. > :40:35.and it was not easy but the last two stages I felt as if I was

:40:35. > :40:41.driving the car the way that it should be driven, and it was very

:40:41. > :40:49.rewarding. That performance was enough to seal second place for the

:40:49. > :40:55.stony wind driver. -- Stonehaven. Clinton Milne and Martin Forrest

:40:55. > :41:01.back of a little on the final stage but did enough to take the spoils.

:41:01. > :41:08.Here is the winner, what was it like? I have been quite a few

:41:08. > :41:12.things today, bent both arms, lost the brakes, and they got some

:41:12. > :41:17.sponsorship from: when I was a junior, he was good friends from my

:41:17. > :41:21.dad, but it is a decent finish at the end of the season. Mike Bock -

:41:21. > :41:29.had done enough to be runner up to David Bogie in the Championship in

:41:29. > :41:33.his venerable Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 6. The enjoyment we get is building

:41:33. > :41:35.the car up to compete at the top end and that is what makes the

:41:35. > :41:41.Scottish championship, you do not have to spend a fortune to be able

:41:41. > :41:46.to do it, you can build a car and compete with it top guys, and that

:41:46. > :41:52.is what makes the Championship what it is. Although he ended that day,

:41:52. > :41:58.two places behind Barry Groundwater, Glasgow's John McClory pulled off

:41:58. > :42:02.an impressive third place overall in that the title race. It no

:42:02. > :42:11.front-wheel-drive category, Alex Pirie and David Law clinched their

:42:11. > :42:16.second successive championship in a Vauxhall Corsa. Dougal Brown from

:42:16. > :42:20.Inverness confirmed his superiority in the prestigious group in class.

:42:20. > :42:29.And Craig Rutherford from the Isle of Mull won the class of and in his

:42:29. > :42:39.Honda Civic. At Raisa Wilson in an exodus Elijah Evo 6 finished best

:42:39. > :42:41.

:42:41. > :42:46.in the Colin McRae Rally. Here is the final table. Euan Thorburn's

:42:46. > :42:55.dismal end to the seasons on sink to fifth place. Barry Groundwater

:42:55. > :43:00.claimed 4th. John McClory was in that place. Mike Faulkner's overall

:43:00. > :43:09.consistency push them into second place. There was no doubting the

:43:09. > :43:14.SRC master, four-time champion David Bogie, with 170 points. We

:43:14. > :43:19.have a first-time winner in the shape of Quentin Milne, well done
