:00:17. > :00:23.It has been a try fest for the Scarlets in the opening three weeks.

:00:24. > :00:29.They have crossed the line 13 times in three days. But they have been

:00:30. > :00:39.conceding heavily as well, ten tries in total. Last week, their leaky

:00:40. > :00:49.defence became a brick wall. To be so found no way through an Scarlets

:00:50. > :00:53.cut loose to win 40-0. They now face an Edinburgh team that has just come

:00:54. > :01:00.back from a thrashing. The results have been tough to predict so far

:01:01. > :01:03.but there is one thing you can guarantee tonight. There will be

:01:04. > :01:09.tries. Hopefully, lots of them. Scarlets of

:01:10. > :03:45.put their Dublin nightmare behind them and are looking for

:03:46. > :03:53.We have talked a lot about how this Scarlets pack has developed a steely

:03:54. > :03:57.edge. It began with Danny Wilson, and it is continuing now. And the

:03:58. > :04:05.bruises are to be thanked for that. These two are at the front of that.

:04:06. > :04:08.Jake Ball in particular. He likes defending and he will always come

:04:09. > :04:16.off the corner and give you the good yardage to play with. Johan Snyman,

:04:17. > :04:22.he has good set piece players well. He has a bit more vision, more

:04:23. > :04:26.mobile. That was a great pass, great work to go back into open field and

:04:27. > :04:32.make a tackle. He is looking for the ball always. And he scores a great

:04:33. > :04:40.try here. These two guys are at the forefront of the effort. And you

:04:41. > :04:46.have got a 21-year-old, he has matured beyond his years, Samson

:04:47. > :04:52.Lee. I'd like to see him do a little bit more around the field but these

:04:53. > :04:57.three guys we have mentioned, plus the rest, the local lads in the

:04:58. > :05:02.front row like Evans, who have got fantastic potential to play well for

:05:03. > :05:06.Scarlets and for Wales, they are terrific. The incumbent tight head

:05:07. > :05:10.for Wales, he played against South Africa. Let's move on to the

:05:11. > :05:26.Scarlets backs. We will have a quick whizz through.

:05:27. > :05:33.I know you have picked out a couple of your personal favourites tonight.

:05:34. > :05:36.I think Rhys Priestland in particular is starting to recapture

:05:37. > :05:40.some of the form that made him such a prolific play in the World Cup. He

:05:41. > :05:45.is attacking the game, playing in the face of defenders, he has good

:05:46. > :05:49.ability and vision to get the ball away, and when the opportunity

:05:50. > :05:56.arises, he sees where the space is and puts the ball to Scott

:05:57. > :06:00.Williams, who gets the ball to Liam Williams, a man on Fire this

:06:01. > :06:08.season, a free spirit. He is fearless in many ways. He has

:06:09. > :06:11.disciplined reissues, though, but exuberance. He is excellent at

:06:12. > :06:17.attacking, always looking for opportunities. Very strong for a

:06:18. > :06:22.slight man, never accept the tackle, and his overall game is first class.

:06:23. > :06:27.I think he is putting his hand up for international selection for the

:06:28. > :06:31.autumn. Kick-off is moments away. We are looking at a confident Scarlets

:06:32. > :06:36.after last week and a wounded Edinburgh, where is your money

:06:37. > :06:41.going? If the Scarlets set the tone early, and they match Edinburgh's

:06:42. > :06:45.emotion, they can win. Good stuff, we will find out in due course. If

:06:46. > :06:50.you want to watch the Ryder Cup, highlights begin at 8:30pm on the

:06:51. > :06:57.red button. If you want to stick with Scrum V, and I hope you do, you

:06:58. > :07:01.can watch the highlights at 11:05pm. Now we go to Murrayfield Stadium.

:07:02. > :07:10.They haven't won here since February. Good evening, gents.

:07:11. > :07:17.A warm welcome to Edinburgh. I can't remember the last time we were here

:07:18. > :07:21.without a thick coat and a cap. For those of you that have been watching

:07:22. > :07:25.the golf earlier today from Gleneagles, that is only half an

:07:26. > :07:30.hour up the road, you will have seen what lovely whether they had as

:07:31. > :07:34.well. So, the conditions are great this evening. As you have heard, the

:07:35. > :07:37.Scarlets are in good form this season and they have turned the

:07:38. > :07:46.first ball and a chance to attack immediately.

:07:47. > :07:57.That was a nasty ball. The Scarlets may have struck as early as 40

:07:58. > :08:07.seconds into the game. Cough or Mac diving onto a loose ball. It looks

:08:08. > :08:14.as though he has got the try! John Lacey, the referee, has gone to TMO.

:08:15. > :08:20.He made a good effort to dive for this ball. They have the advantage

:08:21. > :08:26.of looking a couple more times, I think.

:08:27. > :08:33.Well, he got there ahead of Tom Heathcote, but was short of the

:08:34. > :08:38.line? Did his lament and carry him? That is what they will be looking

:08:39. > :08:46.at. Bush might did his momentum carry him? We talked about the

:08:47. > :08:52.turnover ball for Edinburgh, they were sloppy right from the kick-off.

:08:53. > :08:56.No doubt, Harry Robinson got his hands on it first. Was it in contact

:08:57. > :09:15.with the ball over the try line? Get your take measure out! Yes, try

:09:16. > :09:21.has been given! TMO says yes, what a start for the Scarlets. And the

:09:22. > :09:27.travelling fans are delighted. 40 seconds in, less than 40 seconds in,

:09:28. > :09:32.36 to be accurate, and Harry Robinson gets on the scoresheet.

:09:33. > :09:38.Look how flat the Edinburgh defence was. The bounce was awkward. Harry

:09:39. > :09:46.Robinson, I have often admired this rugby machine. Really looking

:09:47. > :09:51.forward to seeing him progress as a rugby player. It is time the

:09:52. > :10:09.sharpness got back in his game, and he has started shop. -- Sharp.

:10:10. > :10:15.That is a devastating start for Edinburgh after a dreadful

:10:16. > :10:19.performance against the Ospreys. They needed to start strong, they

:10:20. > :10:23.lost the ball, conceded a try in a minute, which has been converted by

:10:24. > :10:31.Rhys Priestland, and the Scarlets go 7-0. When the TMO is involved, Harry

:10:32. > :10:35.Robinson was certainly very sharp there, and if there is doubt within

:10:36. > :10:40.the scoring of a try, there has to be no doubt at all, and they looked

:10:41. > :10:45.at that, and even after three or four times, and this is what

:10:46. > :10:49.happened. That was a good counter ruck Mac that forced the error for

:10:50. > :11:01.the Scarlets to capitalise on. -- good counter

:11:02. > :11:20.Some tackling issues for John Lacey. He was in contact with the other

:11:21. > :11:22.officials. Edinburgh find themselves with a restart, seven points behind

:11:23. > :11:26.on the scoreboard with three minutes on the clock. Aled Davies with the

:11:27. > :11:45.clearance kick. Cuthbert kept it alive, but not much

:11:46. > :11:49.room to play with. It was too tight angle for the Wingo. It is

:11:50. > :11:56.interesting that Jack Cuthbert has had three starts with Edinburgh, as

:11:57. > :11:58.fallback, tonight making way for Greig Tonks. But he ran out of space

:11:59. > :12:09.on this near touchline. Shingler is always a reliable

:12:10. > :13:30.line-out source for the Scarlets. One word about the pitch as well.

:13:31. > :13:35.They were troubled here with insects last year but it looks a very good

:13:36. > :13:42.service now. The nematodes they called them. When we watched, the

:13:43. > :13:47.surface just broke up. They have put this hybrid service on. Suddenly now

:13:48. > :13:53.you can play across the top of the surface, you can play good rugby. I

:13:54. > :13:56.was wondering if he fancied a shot at the fly-half position! He was

:13:57. > :13:58.involved three times in that movement, which shows how

:13:59. > :14:09.comfortable Scarlets are in playing rugby. I don't think I've ever seen

:14:10. > :14:13.Samson Lee kick a ball. A knock-on. That gives Edinburgh the

:14:14. > :14:27.scrum. Having applauded the Scarlets, the error. Ross Ford, back

:14:28. > :14:32.in the Edinburgh front row. This young man has to really start to

:14:33. > :14:36.dominate his position. A man of his experience should be coming out of

:14:37. > :14:42.man of the match awards, really showing the Scotland coach, who is

:14:43. > :15:00.watching it alongside us from the West stand at Murrayfield.

:15:01. > :15:12.REFEREE: I have told you to come closer and not to bind early. John

:15:13. > :15:29.Lacey unhappy with the spacing between the two front rows.

:15:30. > :15:43.A real battle going on between the lads nearest the camera. Meanwhile,

:15:44. > :15:48.Samson Lee, he's a very good scrummager. He is short, he is very

:15:49. > :15:52.difficult to scrummage against. Even with somebody with Alasdair

:15:53. > :16:16.Dickinson's experience. A better scrum from Edinburgh. They

:16:17. > :16:22.win themselves the penalty as the Scarlets front rows stand up. It was

:16:23. > :16:27.the way that Samson Lee came around that scrum, stood out of his

:16:28. > :16:31.position to spoil that position at the back of the scrum and Edinburgh

:16:32. > :16:35.will have an opportunity to have a pop at goal. Good scrum for

:16:36. > :16:42.Edinburgh who are looking to get their platform right to. They were

:16:43. > :16:48.exposed last week against the Ospreys. They conceded 62 points. I,

:16:49. > :16:53.for one, was watching that one and I felt it was a spineless performance.

:16:54. > :16:57.That is quite harsh words. It does hurt when you say these words. But

:16:58. > :17:01.these players are professionals, they have to adapt and get on with

:17:02. > :17:04.it, but they also have to show the leadership. It is whether or not

:17:05. > :17:23.they can bounce back from that. Tom Heathcote, nicely struck. That

:17:24. > :17:27.is a very good shot indeed to get Edinburgh on the board. That will

:17:28. > :17:42.set off some early nerves which may have crept in. Leinster lead the

:17:43. > :17:56.Blues buys 6-0. -- lead the Blues buys 6-0.

:17:57. > :18:11.Sean Kennedy missed the Ospreys game. And, for once, Liam Williams

:18:12. > :18:20.misses the ball. Yes, going up too early, that was Cuthbert. He wasn't

:18:21. > :18:24.close to the ball. He went up to challenge but he wasn't close. He

:18:25. > :18:32.didn't time his run, and he was lucky to get away to not incur the

:18:33. > :18:36.raft of the referee even further. It is certainly something referees are

:18:37. > :18:44.very keen on, no contact at all with somebody off their feet. Good

:18:45. > :18:53.refereeing, going up and reminding the perpetrator, Jack Cuthbert, that

:18:54. > :18:59.he has to watch himself. Phillips am a number 1 hooker for three months.

:19:00. > :19:08.Owens out of action with a disc problem. He will go under the knife

:19:09. > :19:15.next to Tuesday probably. Rhys Priestland stepping in as

:19:16. > :19:25.scrum-half. Two quick play, around the side. Not only was it side

:19:26. > :19:31.entry, he came around the back as well!

:19:32. > :19:41.That was arise smile from Rhys Priestland. He took his hands out as

:19:42. > :19:49.if he had the ball, but he didn't. The Argentinian out of the traps too

:19:50. > :19:53.quickly. Rhys Priestland has crept into the Pro 12 top ten all-time

:19:54. > :20:33.points scorers. Perfectly done by Rhys Priestland,

:20:34. > :20:41.and it restores the 7-point lead at 10-3. Let's go down pitch side. This

:20:42. > :20:46.is a pitch, ?1.25 million worth, the same on at the Liberty Stadium, and

:20:47. > :20:53.Old Trafford. It is a hybrid pitch with a bit of fibre. It is a joy to

:20:54. > :20:58.run on, not that I have run on it! The man on the tannoy gives out what

:20:59. > :21:05.the penalties for every time a penalty is awarded, so we tried that

:21:06. > :21:10.in Wales, except we would have to say, that was for offside, did you

:21:11. > :21:35.know that, rough? The protection wasn't good enough

:21:36. > :21:43.and it was hacked through. They seem to play down that far touchline

:21:44. > :21:46.between Greig Tonks and Tim Visser. On the contact areas, and if they

:21:47. > :21:48.want to make an impression on this game, they have to protect the ball

:21:49. > :22:04.in those areas. Drive on led by Hamish Watson, and a

:22:05. > :22:10.good one it is as well from the forwards.

:22:11. > :22:18.Advantage being played as they approach the Scarlets 22. The ball

:22:19. > :22:23.is going backwards from the cross kick, which meant no advantage, they

:22:24. > :22:29.go back to the kick from the far side. It was a shot to nothing, they

:22:30. > :22:33.had to try something. You want to keep the ball in the hand, and the

:22:34. > :22:37.accuracy of the kick was good. You have ball coming back that you want

:22:38. > :22:47.to run onto, challenge the opposition defence.

:22:48. > :23:00.Edinburgh turning down the chance to go for three. A little fortune to

:23:01. > :23:04.favour the brave. We saw an excellent driving line-out

:23:05. > :23:09.previously, and that may well have coloured Ross Ford's decision. More

:23:10. > :23:20.of the same as what he will be looking for. That was won by Rob

:23:21. > :23:25.McCusker?. Scarlets not happy about the way their number eight was

:23:26. > :23:34.brought down in that line-out, the penalty has been given. They do not

:23:35. > :23:36.want to have that decision reversed. Cornell Du Preez is going to see

:23:37. > :23:50.yellow. There was minimal contact, but

:23:51. > :23:58.Cornell Du Preez is deemed to have brought down Rob McCusker?, and it

:23:59. > :24:01.is ten minutes in the bin. Quick taken -- quickly taken by the

:24:02. > :24:08.Scarlets, he's not even off the field!

:24:09. > :24:19.He lost the ball forward. Liam Williams is claiming for a sleigh. A

:24:20. > :24:24.of mistakes from Edinburgh littering this performance. I think that

:24:25. > :24:36.Cornell Du Preez will be very disappointed. He was unlucky, but he

:24:37. > :24:40.did have his hands on the shirt. Maybe they have gone for a middle

:24:41. > :24:49.line ball because it is such a good drive last time. Ollie Atkins is in

:24:50. > :25:02.the middle, but the accuracy wasn't therefore Ross Ford. -- wasn't there

:25:03. > :25:08.for Ross Ford. They have a one-man advantage in the scrum, the

:25:09. > :25:17.Scarlets. Interesting formation from the Scarlets. A short ball to Gareth

:25:18. > :25:20.Owen. Lovely inside ball from Aled Davies. They caught the defence

:25:21. > :25:35.drifting. Strauss was over the ball that, the

:25:36. > :25:38.referee didn't have much option. That, the referee didn't have much

:25:39. > :25:41.option. Let's listen in to the referee speaking to Ross Ford here

:25:42. > :25:48.because there are a few penalties unseeded. REFEREE: you have to have

:25:49. > :25:58.a word, he has to cut it cut it out. I saw it for myself.

:25:59. > :26:12.Ross Ford is not convinced. It is an easy three points up for grabs, but

:26:13. > :26:15.they are going for a line-out. There is a statement of intent. The

:26:16. > :26:26.accuracy now, everything for this Scarlets line-out with Phillips in

:26:27. > :27:58.position. They are down the man, so power play to the Scarlets.

:27:59. > :29:55.Williams again. Rob Evans.

:29:56. > :29:58.The Edinburgh defence is really being stretched but is holding firm

:29:59. > :30:09.so far. Relentless pounding from the

:30:10. > :30:14.Scarlets. He loses the ball, Shingler, and, again, 14 man

:30:15. > :30:16.Edinburgh survive. And you just wonder whether that could come back

:30:17. > :30:44.and haunt the Scarlets. That is one thing the Scarlets will

:30:45. > :30:48.not be happy with, the way they have lost possession. Too many errors

:30:49. > :30:55.with the Scarlets. When you get your front five from Scarlets

:30:56. > :30:59.perspective, they have been so prominent. It gives other players

:31:00. > :31:07.that extra opportunity to get their hands on the ball, to create the

:31:08. > :31:12.space. Good tackles coming in from Ross Ford, he has been solid. It is

:31:13. > :31:20.the Scarlets that have conceded in the last few minutes. Shingler, four

:31:21. > :31:26.on one hand, trying to make it available. Heathcote is getting some

:31:27. > :31:44.treatment, but the referee is going to continue without him.

:31:45. > :31:56.Could be a man spare on the right-hand side, into Edinburgh's

:31:57. > :32:07.22. Waiting to support, as is Aaron Shingler. The Scarlets are getting

:32:08. > :32:17.so much possession at the moment. Rhys Priestland again at

:32:18. > :32:21.scrum-half, and Davis outside him. It is all the Scarlets, but they are

:32:22. > :32:28.not adding to their 10-3 lead at the moment. The longer that Edinburgh

:32:29. > :32:36.can keep it that way, the more confident and frustrated as a result

:32:37. > :32:41.that the Scarlets will get. Right up to the try line, Liam Williams. Time

:32:42. > :32:48.out again and it has gone forward. It has gone forward from Williams.

:32:49. > :32:52.Good work by Rhys Priestland. I am impressed with this outfit from the

:32:53. > :33:10.Scarlets because they have played some good rugby, 117 points in the

:33:11. > :33:15.two, three previous games. Right on the try line, Lee Williams didn't do

:33:16. > :33:19.anything to pick it up on the move, but as he was dumped on the try

:33:20. > :33:31.line, he tried to wriggle and turn his way over.

:33:32. > :33:38.The Scarlets with a glut of possession, but Edinburgh are

:33:39. > :33:50.hanging on for dear life. They are counting the seconds until Du Preez

:33:51. > :33:55.returns. Since he has been in the sin-bin, that was the last attacking

:33:56. > :34:00.move that Edinburgh had in that quarter of the 22 for the Scarlets,

:34:01. > :34:04.and since then, they have been camped down here. Can they turn this

:34:05. > :34:15.pressure into some points for the Scarlets. The Scarlets trying to

:34:16. > :34:27.drive the seven man scrum-half of it. Strauss, the flanker. This is a

:34:28. > :34:35.feature within the scrum, the balls have seven men in the scrum. He

:34:36. > :34:46.loses all of that momentum, all of the tightness in the scrum and

:34:47. > :34:51.suddenly, there is one in the head. I think that they have stuck tongs

:34:52. > :35:15.in their, he has come into the scrum to put an extra man in the scrum.

:35:16. > :35:25.Edinburgh, delighted with their effort in the scrum. Let's go back

:35:26. > :35:30.to fill. Scarlets, their coach, Mark Jones, an excellent open quarter,

:35:31. > :35:36.how worrying is this not to have that score? It is quite clear that

:35:37. > :35:41.Edinburgh are different side to last week, they are trying to hold up on

:35:42. > :35:45.the tackle, so they drop the height and create a quicker ball and turn

:35:46. > :35:49.them around, they have got 14 guys defending at the moment. It is a

:35:50. > :35:55.good start, Edinburgh are well up for this game and we match that so

:35:56. > :36:02.far, but it is early days. Is the pack going well? We're only as good

:36:03. > :36:11.as what is provided, hopefully it will improve as this goes on. They

:36:12. > :36:23.were 14, now they are up to 15, because Du Preez has finished his

:36:24. > :36:27.time in the sin-bin. I felt that John Andress had gone in at an

:36:28. > :36:32.angle, and the referee had judged otherwise. I think they can breathe

:36:33. > :36:38.easy, Edinburgh, having not conceded the points. They were under the

:36:39. > :36:45.cosh. A very interesting scene seeing how they are moving the ball.

:36:46. > :36:51.The two prop forwards, Rob Evans, very much involved in the game. It

:36:52. > :36:58.allows opportunities for other players to get involved in the game.

:36:59. > :37:02.The one consistent thing about Edinburgh is the number of points

:37:03. > :37:12.that they score, because they have gone 12, 13, 14, 13 in the last five

:37:13. > :37:27.games. Gareth Owen, trying to get past. A good drive by the Scarlets

:37:28. > :37:48.and their forwards. The Blues, back on level terms at the RDS. It is

:37:49. > :37:58.Alan Shingler in some space. -- Aaron Shingler. Did not find Harry

:37:59. > :38:04.Robinson as he did wish. They are racking up the yards.

:38:05. > :38:12.A cross comes Greig Tonks and precious little angle to work from.

:38:13. > :38:17.And the Scarlets are back where they want to be in the Edinburgh bread

:38:18. > :38:24.zone. Rhys Priestland controlling things, pushing Edinburgh back, can

:38:25. > :38:27.the Scarlets start to build some real, real thrust within their

:38:28. > :38:35.possession and phase possession to open them out in the backs?

:38:36. > :38:46.We're having a word for holding on the ground. Ross Ford, he missed the

:38:47. > :38:55.Ospreys game last weekend. 150 league games. His 12th season, four

:38:56. > :39:14.of those over the borders. Interesting to see how this will fit

:39:15. > :39:20.in this season, can they make an important impression on the World

:39:21. > :39:51.Cup? Trying to make an impact this season.

:39:52. > :39:59.The double tackle is holding the man up in possession. Edinburgh are

:40:00. > :40:00.going for higher tackle to try and have some good defensive work coming

:40:01. > :40:23.in from Edinburgh. We need to keep an eye out on John

:40:24. > :40:29.Andress for Edinburgh, because he was engaging incorrectly, think, at

:40:30. > :40:36.an angle in the previous scrum. Joined from Worcester Warriors.

:40:37. > :40:45.Interestingly, John Lacey has come over to the side as well to have a

:40:46. > :40:58.look. Cheshire on Kennedy from John Barclay. That is well recovered.

:40:59. > :41:06.Greig Tonks with the relief. Midway into their own half. Excellent play

:41:07. > :41:10.from the number eight for Edinburgh, Cornell Du Preez, he was under some

:41:11. > :41:15.pressure, but the way he positioned himself, he got the ball back and

:41:16. > :41:26.then Tonks from the left peg, give some relief to Edinburgh. Into the

:41:27. > :41:30.final ten minutes of this first half, and it has been pretty much

:41:31. > :41:40.one-way traffic. Lee Williams, the early ball, did not have anywhere to

:41:41. > :41:44.go. The cross kick to the first side and Shingler gives chase, but it is

:41:45. > :41:50.too deep, easy for Tim Visser to deal with. The damage was done on

:41:51. > :41:56.the previous possession. Williams passed on to take all the momentum

:41:57. > :42:02.from that sweeping movement. It is all about the accuracy in this pass.

:42:03. > :42:07.If you get that right, there are players to run onto the ball, but if

:42:08. > :42:10.you take that off, there is no other option and a poorly executed kick.

:42:11. > :42:16.Almost like nothing will play for the Scarlets. Two players later,

:42:17. > :42:19.they are back for a line-out to pretty much the same place. He looks

:42:20. > :42:33.in a little bit of trouble, Visser. This time, Scott Williams taking the

:42:34. > :42:38.hit and again, the Scarlets complaining that bodies are lying

:42:39. > :42:41.over the ball. Alun Davies almost breaks free, gets the support that

:42:42. > :42:50.he wanted with a proper pass and Williams gets the try this time! It

:42:51. > :42:52.has been a long time coming, but quick thinking by Davis and great

:42:53. > :42:57.support from Williams giving the Scarlets full-back their second try.

:42:58. > :43:00.A great break from Williams, look at Robinson, he was on the left from

:43:01. > :43:07.the outside shoulder, but the pop-up pass came in and on the other side,

:43:08. > :43:13.a good try from the Scarlets. There was an alertness there. Just looking

:43:14. > :43:18.at the Edinburgh player holding on. Davis did so well. Look at that,

:43:19. > :43:25.Robinson is on the left, on the right, Williams, great back-up play

:43:26. > :43:31.by 14 and by 15. Two tries against Treviso and now, another one for

:43:32. > :43:56.Williams, made sure that time that there was no stopping him.

:43:57. > :44:02.Looks like a fairly comfortable kick, but the concentration levels

:44:03. > :44:09.are still as high from Rhys Priestland. And it adds the two

:44:10. > :44:12.points and the scoreboard is now, a little bit more like the Scarlets

:44:13. > :44:17.would have liked, given all of the possession and the dominance they

:44:18. > :44:30.have enjoyed in the opening 33 minutes. Once again, Aled Davies, he

:44:31. > :44:34.was as sharp as a tack. Gareth Davies has been in great form for

:44:35. > :44:39.the Scarlets again this year, but took a knock-on the head and is out

:44:40. > :44:48.with concussion this week, and Aled Davies making the most of the rarest

:44:49. > :45:02.housing opportunity. -- rare starting opportunity. Knocked on to

:45:03. > :45:06.the Edinburgh scrum. The Edinburgh supporters here at Murrayfield have

:45:07. > :45:10.not had enough a lot to cheer about. There has been no real continuity

:45:11. > :45:14.within the game. They have not retained possession, they have not

:45:15. > :45:20.had territory, and certainly, the balance of play for the Scarlets,

:45:21. > :45:33.they have had absolutely everything in this game.

:45:34. > :45:40.They were very happy not to concede tries with Treviso last weekend.

:45:41. > :45:46.That would be the watchword for the remaining five at half minutes of

:45:47. > :45:58.this first half. -- five and a half minutes.

:45:59. > :46:04.Yet again, the front row union getting a word from John Lacey.

:46:05. > :46:09.There is too much pressure before the ball is coming in, I want us to

:46:10. > :46:15.get v-position and wait for the ball before pushing. You are both going

:46:16. > :46:19.at it, that is quite you are having this problem. This is the second

:46:20. > :46:24.time he has had to call them aside. If he is unhappy, he will just

:46:25. > :46:29.penalised, these are the guys that are delaying the game. It is the

:46:30. > :46:34.bane of the modern game. Very much so. He has told them to get closer

:46:35. > :46:39.together, get their engagement proper, get on with it, restart the

:46:40. > :47:04.game, if there are any shenanigans going on, then penalised them, John

:47:05. > :47:14.Lacey. -- penalise. McCusker, trying to do the rippling work, but they

:47:15. > :47:26.hang onto it. Great footwork by Sam Beard. Kennedy to Tonks. The crowd

:47:27. > :47:29.at last getting something to cheer and get excited about. Straight

:47:30. > :47:36.running and a great off-load from Dupre, just short of the try line.

:47:37. > :47:41.Cuthbert, desperate tackling from the Scarlets, but there is a man

:47:42. > :47:46.spare on the far side, and it is an absolute walk-in for Tim Visser and

:47:47. > :47:51.Edinburgh strike back just before half-time. Suddenly, Edinburgh,

:47:52. > :47:56.strings and patterns of play together and didn't they do well?

:47:57. > :48:01.Sean Kennedy at scrum-half kept that movement going on this nearside when

:48:02. > :48:05.he's scooted the ball out to Tonks. Kennedy, once again, Cornell Du

:48:06. > :48:10.Preez could not off-load the tackle, there are always extra men out

:48:11. > :48:15.there. I felt that all came from a solid scrum. That scrum could have

:48:16. > :48:18.caved in, but their responsibility assured and the scrum stayed up.

:48:19. > :48:27.Edinburgh got the attacking platform and they did well. Maybe a glimpse

:48:28. > :48:31.of what they can achieve. A couple of years to get over the try line

:48:32. > :48:58.and then another 20 before grounding at by Tim Visser. -- grounding it.

:48:59. > :49:17.Well struck conversion from Tom Heathcote. And Edinburgh get back to

:49:18. > :49:20.within the converted tries. It was interesting, I always write on my

:49:21. > :49:25.notes, a little box and I was just about to write that little box and

:49:26. > :49:33.73, the half-time score, but Edinburgh got it back in with a

:49:34. > :49:36.converted try. That will achieve up. They have been under the cosh for

:49:37. > :49:46.such a long period. But they are very much still in the game.

:49:47. > :49:54.Kennedy, try to give Cuthbert something to run onto. Drifting

:49:55. > :49:57.infield. Away from Strauss as well. Scott Williams to John Barclay.

:49:58. > :50:10.Robinson. The Scarlets, quite happy to see

:50:11. > :50:27.nine and ten swapping positions. Then Samson Lee with the carry, then

:50:28. > :50:32.comes and dress. -- Andress. Alistair Dixon with a needless

:50:33. > :50:38.penalty. They need to concentrate on what they have done well in terms of

:50:39. > :50:48.scoring that try, but then, it wasn't Alistair, it was John

:50:49. > :50:51.Andress. It must be so frustrating for coaches like Alan Solomons

:50:52. > :50:56.there, to see the penalties like that given away when they are not in

:50:57. > :51:03.a threatening position. Yes, alongside Stevie Scott. A better

:51:04. > :51:09.performance from the Edinburgh line. After last week's demolition job.

:51:10. > :51:19.They were on the receiving end of the Ospreys. I know in the seventh

:51:20. > :51:24.game, they only have got 30 seconds to take the kick, I often think in

:51:25. > :51:34.the 15th game, it should be one minute. -- in the sevens game, they

:51:35. > :51:46.may have 30 seconds, in the 15s game, I think it should be one

:51:47. > :51:52.minutes. Off the posts and away. And so, the Scarlets failed to put a bit

:51:53. > :51:57.of distance between themselves and Edinburgh right at the death, unless

:51:58. > :52:02.they can run it in from here. And Williams looks like he fancies doing

:52:03. > :52:06.so, a great little off-load, kept alive, but only as far as Greig

:52:07. > :52:13.Tonks and the ball is eventually over the fireside, and that brings

:52:14. > :52:26.an end to proceedings in the first half. Williams is hurt himself in

:52:27. > :52:28.the advert as well. -- has hurt. That is a disappointing end to the

:52:29. > :52:33.first half for the Scarlets and That is a disappointing end to the

:52:34. > :52:36.conceding a try and also in seeing Liam Williams laid low and still

:52:37. > :52:38.receiving treatment Liam Williams laid low and still

:52:39. > :52:55.of the field. The Scarlets having half-time.

:52:56. > :53:01.Scott Williams, do you think you are worth more than a 7-point lead? I

:53:02. > :53:05.think so, we need to turn the territory and possession into more

:53:06. > :53:08.points. It was a bit too easy to let them in for a try. I think

:53:09. > :53:14.converting in our territory, we need some points. Early scoring the

:53:15. > :53:20.second have? Yes, early in the second half. Here is Ross with the

:53:21. > :53:31.story of this half. The Scarlets hoping to recover from

:53:32. > :55:33.their wounding last week, it could not have started

:55:34. > :55:36.seconds, a great finish from Harry Robinson, but some good build-up.

:55:37. > :55:38.Yes, we said it was important to get good possession early on, play in

:55:39. > :55:40.the right areas. They get a good turnover. Pretty aggressive. Great

:55:41. > :55:47.reaction to get the ball and turn over. The Scarlets have a good

:55:48. > :55:53.turnover. Out wide it goes. A great ship through and it is great to see

:55:54. > :55:59.Harry scoring, great for to get over the try line. A great try. Moving

:56:00. > :56:07.wide, good hands, nice kick through and Harry has got his eye on the

:56:08. > :56:10.ball, it is a brave, good finish. You spoke about kick-off, Phil,

:56:11. > :56:14.about how Alan Solomons would be furious with Edinburgh last weekend

:56:15. > :56:16.about how they would need to be accurate night and they were

:56:17. > :56:22.woefully inaccurate in that first 20 minutes and it cost them. Yes,

:56:23. > :56:26.absolutely, Gareth said in commentary, you can see the body

:56:27. > :56:31.angles of the Scarlets and their commitment pass the ball is

:56:32. > :56:39.excellent. Often it goes. What is number six doing? The early part of

:56:40. > :56:42.the game. Shingler, a top class culture in the line-up, never eight,

:56:43. > :56:51.keep your hands off, there is no need for that. Rob Evans carries

:56:52. > :56:54.well. A good body position, second man in. Instead of being

:56:55. > :56:58.disciplined, he goes off his feet and gives away a penalty. Alan

:56:59. > :57:04.Solomons will be pulling but every Harry has got left out, because that

:57:05. > :57:08.first 20 minutes, after last week's performance, they were not accurate

:57:09. > :57:16.enough and the Scarlets were great way performers are the first 20, 30

:57:17. > :57:19.minutes, fantastic. Liam Williams has very ported to watch, you can

:57:20. > :57:24.take your eyes off him, such an exciting player. -- was very

:57:25. > :57:31.important to watch. Let's look at the first one, what you make of

:57:32. > :57:34.this? Great footwork to get beyond and whether he was trying to get a

:57:35. > :57:39.miracle ball coming back and into the hands of Harry Robinson, it

:57:40. > :57:46.certainly came off the tackle of the Edinburgh defender. He is a constant

:57:47. > :57:50.threat. He is prepared and committed to the ball. This is his first

:57:51. > :57:55.opportunity will stop the strength taken across the line. He never

:57:56. > :57:59.accepts a tackle, he is prepared to work hard to get there. When that

:58:00. > :58:03.ball is in his hands, he works hard to get his body over the line and

:58:04. > :58:07.unfortunately did not make it on that occasion. Good reaction, the

:58:08. > :58:13.first to react to Aled Davies's break, then power, pace, the ability

:58:14. > :58:20.to get over the line. He has been a threat all evening. Almost got

:58:21. > :58:26.across towards the end, made a try towards the end, but you have got to

:58:27. > :58:31.watch him, he's a fantastic layer. We have to pay tribute to the

:58:32. > :58:37.forwards, we spoke about Jake Ball and Snyman, they have been part of a

:58:38. > :58:41.quality line-up, very busy on the field, carrying hard, working hard

:58:42. > :58:47.on the fringes of defence, and the forwards set a good, getting over

:58:48. > :58:49.the platform to provide the opportunities for the backs to try

:58:50. > :58:58.to exploit and they are created a lot of opportunities. Running with

:58:59. > :59:02.real purpose. Rob Evans and Snyman really topping the carrying charts.

:59:03. > :59:06.Edinburgh have to absorb so much and defend for such long periods, yet as

:59:07. > :59:12.half-time approached, that soft try in the end, they are right back in

:59:13. > :59:16.this. Scarlets's defence has not been under pressure because they

:59:17. > :59:19.have had dominating territory, but the one area they managed to get

:59:20. > :59:23.across with Edinburgh, they showed some good football, some good

:59:24. > :59:27.vision, both half-backs understanding that there was space

:59:28. > :59:31.out wide and left Harry Robinson with no other option other than try

:59:32. > :59:37.and defend the long pass, but they need to be aware of that. I just

:59:38. > :59:41.feel that the Scarlets will start to take control and it has been tiring,

:59:42. > :59:45.defensively, for Edinburgh. They have been put under a lot of

:59:46. > :59:50.pressure, they have come unscathed and they are still in the game, just

:59:51. > :59:56.a matter of time, I feel. Rhys Priestland was the other person to

:59:57. > :00:00.watch, a lot of talk has shifted to Dan Biggar the incumbent, but this

:00:01. > :00:05.man is quietly going about his business for the Scarlets. Yes, I

:00:06. > :00:10.like the variety you put in his game, some great kicks, that tipped

:00:11. > :00:14.over the top that almost led to Liam Williams going across, and that was

:00:15. > :00:19.a great kick putting pressure on Tonks. He is prepared to take on

:00:20. > :00:23.defenders and set the ball and even defensively, he has been a little

:00:24. > :00:26.bit more involved, but going back to my earlier point, I would love to

:00:27. > :00:31.see him play in the way that he has the last three games, a bit flatter,

:00:32. > :00:34.taking on defenders and starting to control the defenders, make them

:00:35. > :00:39.think, who were they tackle, do I make the tackle? He can make

:00:40. > :00:42.decisions and get people running alongside him. I wonder if that is

:00:43. > :00:48.the message in the dressing room, we will find out in the second half, it

:00:49. > :00:53.is on the way, but now it is time to nominate your sporting on some hero

:00:54. > :01:01.of the year, if you have a nomination, these are the details.

:01:02. > :01:09.There have been some great winners over the years. Last year, a

:01:10. > :01:13.volunteer football coach won for his tireless effort helping young people

:01:14. > :01:18.who are homeless get back into mainstream life through sport. An

:01:19. > :01:24.inspiration to many, he was gobsmacked when we surprised him to

:01:25. > :01:28.tell him he had won. It is amazing, I never thought I would win.

:01:29. > :01:33.Brilliant, love it. Do you know someone who goes the extra mile to

:01:34. > :01:37.help others take part in sport? On the field, behind-the-scenes,

:01:38. > :01:40.someone who is always there, giving up their own time to help others

:01:41. > :01:46.without expecting anything in return. We want to hear about them.

:01:47. > :01:50.If you know someone who is 18 or over on 1st of January and fits the

:01:51. > :02:00.bill, go to our website to nominate them.

:02:01. > :02:08.There you go, you have a few weeks left yet to get your nominations in.

:02:09. > :02:16.Make sure you do. 20 more sport coming your way this weekend.

:02:17. > :02:22.The Dragons will be looking to bounce back from their Glasgow

:02:23. > :02:34.hammering when they welcome Treviso on Sunday. It is another stellar

:02:35. > :02:37.line-up on Scrum V Sunday. The Scarlets head coach will tell us how

:02:38. > :02:46.he wants to honour the Scarlets tradition of running rugby. I think

:02:47. > :02:50.some teams turn up and want to play that way but they don't have the

:02:51. > :03:00.players with the mindset or of that -- ability. I would rather have a

:03:01. > :03:04.team that attacks and scored tries. Interesting guy, tune in on Sunday

:03:05. > :03:12.for that full interview. The Blues are a way to Leinster tonight. It

:03:13. > :03:22.was tough for them at half-time and its close. 13-9. Just the 1 try.

:03:23. > :03:29.Rhys Ruddock crossing for Leinster. Three penalties from the boot of

:03:30. > :03:36.Rhys Pack show. The other game going on, Glasgow 17, Connacht, seven.

:03:37. > :03:42.They look like they are on their way to another victory, it has been a

:03:43. > :03:45.great season for Glasgow. Phil, that Blues game, a lot of fans were

:03:46. > :03:51.fearing what would happen after those two home defeats but they are

:03:52. > :03:58.hanging in. A lot closer than it was last time! They are doing well. I

:03:59. > :04:02.think they are trying new things. Things seemed disjointed at times,

:04:03. > :04:07.and there have been a lot of change, but the more they play, hopefully,

:04:08. > :04:12.tonight, they will get back into the game and maybe sneak a win. Briefly

:04:13. > :04:17.on the interview, he was saying how the Scarlets have got all of those

:04:18. > :04:21.players to play a running game, and that is his philosophy. He looks at

:04:22. > :04:28.his players, and then he builds a game plan, is that the way to go? I

:04:29. > :04:34.think it is. Especially when you are in hurting the team. You look at

:04:35. > :04:41.their skill set, their ability, and you adapt the team to play in that

:04:42. > :04:45.style. We have seen that already in terms of the performances. The teams

:04:46. > :04:50.are on their way back out. We talked about some of the ball carriers in

:04:51. > :04:55.the Scarlets pack. They have been leading the charge, no changes at

:04:56. > :05:00.half-time, but Pitman is on the pitch, and he has proved a handful

:05:01. > :05:05.this season. He is a great ball carrier. He loves carrying the ball,

:05:06. > :05:10.he loves the physicality. He would rather run through the door rather

:05:11. > :05:14.than open it to go through it. Good to see him actually getting some

:05:15. > :05:17.game time and performing because he is a talent. Every chance he will

:05:18. > :05:21.make an appearance before the end of this game. The second half is about

:05:22. > :05:26.to kick off. The Ryder Cup highlights of just begun on the red

:05:27. > :05:33.button. I am sure you are in in gauge to in this game so if you want

:05:34. > :05:39.to see the highlights you can only 11:05pm. -- I am sure you are

:05:40. > :05:45.engaged to this game. Back to the commentary team.

:05:46. > :05:53.No changes at half-time, good news for the Scarlets in particular.

:05:54. > :06:00.Everyone is OK. The try scorer is there at full-back. 17-10, the

:06:01. > :06:08.Scarlets lead. And Edinburgh will be quite happy that they are still

:06:09. > :06:09.within the converted try, thinking about all the pressure they were

:06:10. > :06:59.under. It seems very often Scarlets goat

:07:00. > :07:10.and-9, then Proctor carries straight after. -- prop to carry straight

:07:11. > :07:14.after. The chat of time, Phil was asking me what I thought of Rhys

:07:15. > :07:21.Priestland. I kept my eye on him in that last passage of play, involved

:07:22. > :07:26.four times, he started the movement by attacking the gain-line first of

:07:27. > :07:29.all, and then varying his position and his depth, and eventually

:07:30. > :07:41.pulling the strings and putting that little grubber kick in.

:07:42. > :07:45.Again, lost by Edinburgh. Desperately disappointing for the

:07:46. > :08:14.home team. They are putting themselves under pressure.

:08:15. > :08:26.Real good scramble. Important tackle by the flanker. But it is not over

:08:27. > :08:29.as Snyman comes again, carrying on where they left off in the first

:08:30. > :08:35.half. And illegally stripping the ball. They are back down to 14 men,

:08:36. > :08:42.Edinburgh, and the pressure will be immense. When you stop playing with

:08:43. > :08:49.14 men, as we saw in the first half one Du Preez was put-in the bin, he

:08:50. > :09:04.has been joined by John Andress for illegally stripping the ball.

:09:05. > :09:15.That was an odd decision, looking at it for the second time. Surely, he

:09:16. > :09:21.is still allowed to play the ball, unless he had his knee on the next

:09:22. > :09:31.man, but the decision has been made. Scarlets may be erring on the side

:09:32. > :09:37.of caution. Rather than go for the scrum, they go for the three points.

:09:38. > :09:51.They want to two Squaw caution. -- they want a two score caution.

:09:52. > :09:55.He has got his range at the beginning of the second half and the

:09:56. > :10:18.Scarlets are ten points clear. The experienced Grant Gilchrist

:10:19. > :10:39.makes his first appearance of the season. Just looking to see where

:10:40. > :10:44.the opponents were looking, to see what the chances of setting up an

:10:45. > :10:52.attack work, but he didn't have the ball under control, it was up at his

:10:53. > :11:06.shoulder somewhere. Normally so safe, McCusker?.

:11:07. > :11:19.It will be Willem Nel coming in. Watson makes way. Willem Nel

:11:20. > :11:28.replaces the sin-binned John Andress.

:11:29. > :11:41.You can just see Visser standing behind the fly-half, Heathcote. He

:11:42. > :11:48.is a danger man when he hits the ball in those open spaces. When he

:11:49. > :11:56.gets his hands on the ball, he is a difficult man to stop. He will not

:11:57. > :12:00.get the chance because the free quick has gone against Edinburgh. --

:12:01. > :12:14.the free kick has gone against Edinburgh.

:12:15. > :12:29.Rhys Priestland going for distance. What kind of return can Greig Tonks

:12:30. > :12:33.get on it? A banana kick, the second time. Goes into the hands of Du

:12:34. > :13:08.Preez. Every pass was behind the man, so no

:13:09. > :13:37.momentum, so they have reset their play.

:13:38. > :13:54.Neither side is putting a stamp on proceedings in this second half.

:13:55. > :14:07.Pretty sharp on coming in, John Lacey. The ball, an opportunity for

:14:08. > :14:11.Edinburgh to move wider, they got a bit static here but you can see this

:14:12. > :14:18.pass by Heathcote, it is off the left hand, rapping over the top of

:14:19. > :14:24.the right, dipping down. It has been a bit scrappy, this start over the

:14:25. > :14:28.second half. I did say the first school would be crucial. The first

:14:29. > :14:35.one has been from Rhys Priestland's boot, but it hasn't been enough to

:14:36. > :14:42.take away a winning situation for the Scarlets. They want to open up

:14:43. > :14:48.that gap, make Edinburgh chase the game, see if they can break it up

:14:49. > :14:59.and get behind them, get a chance to counterattack.

:15:00. > :15:13.An effective drive on again from Edinburgh.

:15:14. > :15:26.Advantage being played, offside in midfield. McCusker? comedy reached

:15:27. > :15:33.that line he was up in that defensive press, overstepped his

:15:34. > :15:40.mark. Good plague by their captain, Ross Ford. Edinburgh had lost the

:15:41. > :15:44.two previous line-ups, but they said that drive exceptionally well. And

:15:45. > :15:49.that is what got them into the Scarlets 22. This will cancel out

:15:50. > :16:07.Rhys Priestland's early penalty at the start of the second half.

:16:08. > :16:25.It is simplicity itself for Tom Heathcote. Let's go back to fill.

:16:26. > :16:28.I will be in Pontypridd tomorrow, and the leaders Cardiff are at home

:16:29. > :16:34.to Crosskeys. They will have to replace the divots in the players as

:16:35. > :16:44.well as the pitch. Big derby in the Scarlets region, Carmarthen versus

:16:45. > :16:53.Llanelli. Go and see your local club if you can tomorrow. Plenty of rugby

:16:54. > :17:03.at all levels on the weekend. Absolutely, thank you. Edinburgh,

:17:04. > :17:07.they got 14 in the first game, just enough to beat Munster by a point,

:17:08. > :17:12.and 13 against conduct which was just enough to lose by a point. And

:17:13. > :17:17.then they got a drumming at the liberty last week. # at the Liberty

:17:18. > :17:21.Stadium last week. They have the best part of half an hour to get on

:17:22. > :17:48.with their season. Gilchrist has put himself forward to

:17:49. > :17:58.carry in the short time he has been on so far.

:17:59. > :18:11.They are a man short, of course. Sean Kennedy's box kicking has been

:18:12. > :18:16.poor, giving the ball away to the Scarlets on the counterattack. It is

:18:17. > :18:23.a chance to keep all in hand, rather than putting it back down the field.

:18:24. > :18:31.A little bit of miscommunication, and it good recovery by Shingler,

:18:32. > :18:36.otherwise the Scarlets could have been in a great deal of trouble, and

:18:37. > :18:42.Priestland was lucky to money factor the kick. And Shingler has hurt

:18:43. > :18:47.himself in recovering the ball from the Scarlets. He was loose in

:18:48. > :18:54.midfield, nearly put his body on the line. And that is Grant who is

:18:55. > :18:57.coming on for Edinburgh. Scarlets might need their own replacement in

:18:58. > :19:09.the back row. This game

:19:10. > :19:12.feel that if the Scarlets score next, they can

:19:13. > :21:34.feel that if the Scarlets score but Edinburgh, as

:21:35. > :21:36.feel that if the Scarlets score of expectation. But the problems in

:21:37. > :21:40.Welsh rugby are being sorted out, can they get their regional teams

:21:41. > :21:49.sorted out? Edinburgh are adding to their own

:21:50. > :21:57.downfall at the moment. A strong run back from Leonardi but good pressure

:21:58. > :22:03.by Priestland. A little bit too quick, though.

:22:04. > :22:13.Just going back to the state of Scottish rugby, the Glasgow Warriors

:22:14. > :22:19.have started so sprightly, they've developed a unity amongst the squad.

:22:20. > :22:25.I understand where he is coming from, the coach. I spoke with him a

:22:26. > :22:32.lot last season. It is all about developing a new spirit and a new

:22:33. > :22:38.spirit within the team. They started so well. They are losing by a single

:22:39. > :22:42.point. This aberration that happened last year, to not take a thing away

:22:43. > :22:48.from the Ospreys because you play what is in front of you, but there

:22:49. > :22:51.have been patches and glimmers of the unity within this performance

:22:52. > :22:56.from Edinburgh, but they are now under pressure.

:22:57. > :23:02.They are trying to build their weight into this one. Alasdair

:23:03. > :23:21.Dickinson leading the way. Still only the 1 score game. That is

:23:22. > :23:31.something the Scarlets will be more than mindful of.

:23:32. > :23:39.It has gone forward. The Scarlets are happy to scramble it out but

:23:40. > :23:43.Edinburgh are showing signs they can put pressure on the defence. I would

:23:44. > :23:47.like to see Cuthbert hold onto the ball on that far side because

:23:48. > :23:53.Edinburgh had built some good position there.

:23:54. > :24:03.A good off-load from Visser. Tonks, we have talked about the link

:24:04. > :24:12.between Tonks and Visser, it is reaping the rewards. A change which

:24:13. > :24:25.may have been anticipated at half-time. Pitman coming on,

:24:26. > :24:29.replacing McCusker?. Pitman, who has started the last three previous

:24:30. > :24:47.game, he's number eight. Glasgow now seem to have broken

:24:48. > :25:02.clear from Connacht. Ospreys go to Munster this weekend,

:25:03. > :25:25.that is a tough one for them as well.

:25:26. > :25:35.Williams, he has run almost a hundred metres tonight. Visser,

:25:36. > :25:44.inside the 22, so goes direct to touch. He had an opportunity outside

:25:45. > :25:47.him to feed Cuthbert, who could have surveyed the options because he had

:25:48. > :25:54.plenty of space on the far side to take the counterattack on. He's not

:25:55. > :25:55.playing full-back today, but an opportunity but it is possession

:25:56. > :26:37.given away. Scarlets, trying to be patient in

:26:38. > :26:48.their build-up. And they have lost it. Good work by Ross Ford. Leonardi

:26:49. > :26:55.spills it, but backwards. Very scrappy, though, and, in the end,

:26:56. > :26:59.Sean Kennedy has little option other than play territory which puts

:27:00. > :27:20.pressure on Williams. Williams gets away from him, just.

:27:21. > :27:27.Enough is enough, says Aled Davies, let's get down there and keep the

:27:28. > :27:32.pressure on. Good play by the Scarlets scrum-half, excellent play

:27:33. > :27:37.from Liam Williams. He has shone at Murrayfield. He is an instinctive

:27:38. > :27:42.player, the way he does things, he scored a try in the first half, he

:27:43. > :27:48.was quick enough to get there, and always a bit of a Thorn in the

:27:49. > :27:52.flesh. He is down injured at the moment, giving us the opportunity to

:27:53. > :27:56.go back to Cardiff, because there has been another try in Leinster.

:27:57. > :28:03.There sure has. Not good news for Blues fans. Leinster have scored

:28:04. > :28:08.another try. Gordon D'Arcy knows his way to the try line, making the

:28:09. > :28:17.current scored 27-9. 27 minutes on the clock, so Leinster are pulling

:28:18. > :28:19.away, seemingly, in Dublin. Thanks. We have reached the hour

:28:20. > :28:38.mark here. First time I have seen Anton

:28:39. > :28:47.Bresler. He's very good at reminding Aled Davies in the previous line-out

:28:48. > :28:53.to always be aware of what is happening around you. He puts

:28:54. > :29:03.himself around. Grant Gilchrist has returned for Edinburgh now. A change

:29:04. > :29:06.in midfield. That is Adam Warren. He was a replacement for Wales against

:29:07. > :29:16.the Barbarians a couple of years ago. Asking too much of his players

:29:17. > :29:27.to get on the end of that one. It has gone a little bit sloppy.

:29:28. > :29:38.We are into the final quarter, Scarlets, the tracker on their

:29:39. > :29:44.territory, they would be dominating, wouldn't they? There is always that

:29:45. > :29:53.in the back of their minds. We should be safe. The game should be

:29:54. > :29:56.in the bag by now. Edinburgh will be going, one little break, one

:29:57. > :30:13.mistake, 1 bit of pressure, we are back in it. The crowd of 3,000... It

:30:14. > :30:14.is a very mild night in Edinburgh. A good, solid scrum from the home

:30:15. > :30:29.team. A good solid scrum from Edinburgh.

:30:30. > :30:33.They could have released that ball, they could have taken the ball by

:30:34. > :30:42.Sean Kennedy, but they have been patient and now they can play the

:30:43. > :30:47.territory game. Tonks off his leg peg has a good boot on him. So often

:30:48. > :30:53.now, the modern day professional will go end over end, and sometimes

:30:54. > :31:01.you feel the spiral kick... But he has done his job. Good territory.

:31:02. > :31:06.Edinburgh have got themselves back within striking distance. They have

:31:07. > :31:15.a line-out on the Scarlets 22. It is all getting the parts right, isn't

:31:16. > :31:21.it? Ross Ford has thrown a fuel use ones, he needs to nail it. -- has

:31:22. > :31:29.thrown a few loose ones. That line-out has been a problem for

:31:30. > :31:37.them. They last a couple of crucial one and is a bit too early. -- they

:31:38. > :31:43.lost. The referee was playing advantage, we will settle for that

:31:44. > :31:47.Rhys Priestland clearance kick. We spoke a few times about Gilchrist

:31:48. > :31:52.coming up the middle, start the drive, that time, the call was to

:31:53. > :31:58.slip around the far end of the lineout. It was all about the

:31:59. > :32:10.communication between the lifters, the jumpers and all about psyching

:32:11. > :32:17.the hooker. Williams, 21, the new scrum have further Scarlets. --

:32:18. > :32:21.scrum half for the Scarlets. I do not know if it is the demons

:32:22. > :32:30.creeping into Ross Ford's head, but it is not functioning as Steve Scott

:32:31. > :32:33.and the coaching team would like. Grant Gilchrist, he has captained

:32:34. > :32:41.his country, he calls the line-outs. That is better where he

:32:42. > :32:51.took it, but you are meant to hang onto it. He found him, but the

:32:52. > :33:00.return didn't find anybody. It was dislodged from a hand of one of the

:33:01. > :33:07.Scarlets. Do they go for the line-out? To of the scrum? Mind

:33:08. > :33:41.being played. -- do they go for the scrum?

:33:42. > :33:52.Again, Edinburgh looking good at set piece, at least the scrum element of

:33:53. > :33:58.the set piece on the line-out. A little bit of help from the friends.

:33:59. > :34:04.A change of mind and a change of direction from Sean Kennedy.

:34:05. > :34:19.Heathcote, Tony Visser outside him. He was isolated. Possession gone. He

:34:20. > :34:33.was isolated, but Barkley had still run the ball further Scarlets. --

:34:34. > :34:44.stolen the ball for the Scarlets. Heathcote was just isolated.

:34:45. > :34:55.A couple of changes in the Scarlet front row.

:34:56. > :35:05.Edwards is back for a second spell for the Scarlets. Rob Evans and

:35:06. > :35:20.Samson Lee, they certainly carried their share. Pitman trying to do the

:35:21. > :35:27.same. Jake Ball... Ross Ford, doing his best to get the ball away from

:35:28. > :35:43.Jake Ball. Straight down Cuthbert's throat.

:35:44. > :35:50.Tonks and Jake Ball, we identified that pairing at the head of the game

:35:51. > :35:54.in the studio earlier, and I have been impressed with their workload

:35:55. > :35:59.and carrying everything forward again. Rob Evans and Samson Lee, the

:36:00. > :36:08.front five, travelling well. It sets the platform. Pete Edwards, a late

:36:09. > :36:11.inclusion on the Scarlets bench, Rhodri Jones was meant to start this

:36:12. > :36:15.evening, but he went down with sickness overnight. Edwards into the

:36:16. > :36:41.fray as well. That goes off the head of Liam

:36:42. > :36:57.Williams. Greig Tonks is so disappointed. Good height with that

:36:58. > :37:01.kick from Rhys Priestland. And Liam Williams was there again underneath

:37:02. > :37:02.that high ball. He has chased everything and carried pretty

:37:03. > :37:18.effectively tonight. He carried so well. Liam Williams,

:37:19. > :37:22.always a threat, looking to get involved. Hit the outside shoulder,

:37:23. > :37:27.he doesn't try to barge anybody over, he tries to get beyond the man

:37:28. > :37:36.and then tries to off-load if he can get it. A good step. Almost that a

:37:37. > :37:42.second try. -- almost got. Jack Cuthbert as well, almost skipped

:37:43. > :37:44.over for a second try at the end of the first half, but had the ball

:37:45. > :37:58.dislodged. You wonder if this garden -- if the

:37:59. > :38:06.Scarlets will still regret that period Chris Mac lets go back to

:38:07. > :38:12.pitch side. Garan Evans, ten minutes to go, looking for that extra

:38:13. > :38:17.scorer? Yes, tried to get the attacking pattern is better to begin

:38:18. > :38:21.with. Just to get the territory better, so we want to play on the

:38:22. > :38:27.22, we want to get our patterns better. Get the territory back. A

:38:28. > :38:41.quick drop goal from Reese would be making you happy! Yes! Good luck!

:38:42. > :38:45.The off the ball tackle. I thought James Davies had been held in the

:38:46. > :38:50.tackle, I thought that was why John Lacey gave the penalty. Edinburgh

:38:51. > :38:56.have got a chance here, again, they need to get the line-out right, get

:38:57. > :39:04.it sorted, set the platform. Scarlets are putting Ross Ford under

:39:05. > :39:19.pressure. Edinburgh, the stopped ball. Ross Ford protects. Grant

:39:20. > :39:23.Gilchrist reattaching. Kennedy get it and the inside ball to Tim

:39:24. > :39:31.Visser, he is waiting on the shoulders of Heathcote. Here's

:39:32. > :39:35.isolated. A penalty coming against John Barclay at the breakdown.

:39:36. > :39:41.Edinburgh will have a chance to attack with this drop goal for

:39:42. > :39:48.nothing for Tom Heathcote. And with that going wide, they will come back

:39:49. > :39:53.with a kick and... Is there a card as well? Yes, there is, the Scarlets

:39:54. > :39:59.will finish this game with ten men and John Barclay gets sent to the

:40:00. > :40:04.sin-bin, and what looks like a safe win for the Scarlets is now really

:40:05. > :40:09.coming under threat. I think that Edinburgh should Gopher the

:40:10. > :40:15.touchline here, they have got their opportunity. -- go for the

:40:16. > :40:20.touchline. Tom Heathcote going for that corner. A power-play coming in.

:40:21. > :40:25.This, I thought he was isolated, Barkley was straight over the ball,

:40:26. > :40:30.you can see his shoulder sealing off that position, spoiling the quick

:40:31. > :40:35.position for Edinburgh. No hesitation to dish out that third

:40:36. > :40:39.yellow card of the match. First for the Scarlets and it has relieved put

:40:40. > :40:46.them under pressure as Gilchrist takes the line-out. There is Roddy

:40:47. > :40:51.Grant ready and waiting. Kennedy once more forwards in their first

:40:52. > :41:00.and they Julio Blige. Grant still in possession, driven back up the last.

:41:01. > :41:06.-- they duly obliged. Phil Burleigh barges over, the replacement centre

:41:07. > :41:11.could well have got the try. He could have gotten the try that with

:41:12. > :41:32.Edinburgh right back into it. That's Mac that puts Edinburgh. Time out. I

:41:33. > :41:42.need to chat. The TMO... John Lacey was right there. I am surprised he

:41:43. > :42:00.did not go and have a look. That was the first touchdown.

:42:01. > :42:08.That is where he got the downward pressure. Some looks at Harry

:42:09. > :42:13.Robinson's try, butchery that as they try, and it is confirmed. The

:42:14. > :42:19.try has been given and Edinburgh are suddenly back within a convergent,

:42:20. > :42:20.because Phil Burleigh has been immediately in action since coming

:42:21. > :43:15.on. advantage of a fumble outside the

:43:16. > :43:21.goal area. Sam Warburton scored a try, 20 the TMO, it was given, the

:43:22. > :43:35.scorer in Dublin, 27, 23 to Leinster. The Blues are really

:43:36. > :43:39.striking back. The Scarlets, the 14 men, they have to build their way

:43:40. > :43:43.down field if they want to come away with a win at Edinburgh. Edinburgh

:43:44. > :43:54.will be the ones with a spring in their step. And the man advantage,

:43:55. > :44:05.of course. Robinson. Williams arrives, Andrey Pitman goes on the

:44:06. > :44:10.wide arc. Rhys Priestland and Shingler just getting within

:44:11. > :44:16.striking distance. They are building their way down the field. Williams,

:44:17. > :44:22.that of a chip and a chase and they need to keep position, more than any

:44:23. > :44:30.thing. Scarlets buying their time. Edinburgh now have possession. The

:44:31. > :44:35.keyword was patience, no need to kick that possession away, not at

:44:36. > :44:40.this time of the game, not when you are one man down. It is a funny old

:44:41. > :44:46.game. All of that procession in the first half, suddenly, at rat at the

:44:47. > :44:55.back end of the first half, they got within touching position. And injury

:44:56. > :45:38.here, there has been another try and answer, what has happened, Ross?

:45:39. > :45:42.the brother of Jonathan Davies. Another one who has spent a long

:45:43. > :47:45.time with the Welsh sevens squad. Edinburgh, and that is a huge letup

:47:46. > :47:50.for the Scarlets. I thought they got away on that first side, John Lacey

:47:51. > :47:56.thought otherwise. The referee would not have penalised the driving

:47:57. > :48:02.maul. It has been an impressive aspect of Edinburgh's game this

:48:03. > :48:15.evening. They got detached from the initial drive. It is what you work

:48:16. > :48:20.on on the training field, you try to take one lot of defenders out,

:48:21. > :48:27.continue with the drive. That is the direction the drivers going, but

:48:28. > :48:36.Lacey says it was a changed lane. James Davies in the tackle. Just two

:48:37. > :48:41.minutes remaining. The Scarlets are now looking to see if they can get

:48:42. > :48:47.within kicking distance, a penalty, a drop goal, any thing to snatch the

:48:48. > :48:52.extra point. They could end up with giving away the seeming winning

:48:53. > :48:57.position to draw the game with Ulster right in the very first game

:48:58. > :49:02.of the season. At the moment, they are in the same position against

:49:03. > :49:08.Edinburgh. Pitman and a change of angle, picking up the pace. It is

:49:09. > :49:15.Edinburgh's turn to be disciplined as Steven Shingler carries for the

:49:16. > :49:25.Scarlets. Williams to Pitman again, once again, a head down charge. Emyr

:49:26. > :49:33.Phillips is, his opposite number, Ross Ford. Rhys Priestland is back

:49:34. > :49:40.inside. Some support from Harry Robinson coming from his wing. The

:49:41. > :49:46.ball is protected for Williams. Shingler, nobody running onto the

:49:47. > :49:49.angle as he was opening. Still, possession is safely therefore the

:49:50. > :49:57.Scarlets, still, they build, still they hammered away. Rhys Priestland,

:49:58. > :50:00.that would be straight into the hands of Greig Tonks and nobody is

:50:01. > :50:08.at home at the moment for the Scarlets. And do they look for the

:50:09. > :50:17.safety of the touchline? Now, they do not, but they found it anyway.

:50:18. > :50:20.Rhys Priestland decided to kick once again and Edinburgh have taken a

:50:21. > :50:25.quick one. Looking to get some space. That was such an important

:50:26. > :50:33.tackle but great support. Great support from Leonardi. Jake Ball

:50:34. > :50:39.came through and knocked the offside position and the Scarlets have won

:50:40. > :50:44.it back with a very important call. Much, much disputed by the home

:50:45. > :50:54.crowd. Jake Ball did extremely well. Kennedy was caught at the

:50:55. > :50:58.base. It was Jake Ball and then James Davies that got position. What

:50:59. > :51:03.do the Scarlets do? The time is up on the clock, do they put the ball

:51:04. > :51:09.out, do they try to go for the win and hope they don't concede? Well,

:51:10. > :51:19.they have got to go for it, they are going for it. Still in their own

:51:20. > :51:21.half. They have to be wary that it could be within kicking distance for

:51:22. > :51:36.Edinburgh if they don't get away from there. Peter Edwards and Phil

:51:37. > :51:40.John, both with a carry each. Rhodri Williams tied in there. Roddy Grant

:51:41. > :51:45.get his hands on it, and this is now a big call. Do Edinburgh have

:51:46. > :51:51.somebody who can put the ball over from all of those 50 metres? Izzard

:51:52. > :51:56.Tom Heathcote? Not sure if he has got the legs, Greig Tonks is coming

:51:57. > :51:59.up. Rhys Priestland, he had the opportunity, but they have come this

:52:00. > :52:03.far, the Scarlets, they wanted to see if they could get the win for

:52:04. > :52:12.all of the pressure they had in the first half. How crucial with that

:52:13. > :52:15.decision be? -- would that decision be? Was at brave or foolhardy? That

:52:16. > :52:31.is the question. Glasgow have picked up another bonus

:52:32. > :52:39.point eating Connacht and they have continuation to their perfect start

:52:40. > :52:47.to the season. He would go. The very last kick of the game, a huge kick

:52:48. > :52:56.in every sense of the word. Perfect silence. Tom Heathcote, it is too

:52:57. > :53:00.far for him to reach and in the end, the Scarlets decide, we will not be

:53:01. > :53:05.brave again and go from our own try line and they have to settle for

:53:06. > :53:09.another draw. The Scarlets, dominant for the first half, felt they may

:53:10. > :53:13.well have won the game, but Edinburgh hang on in there and they

:53:14. > :53:20.fought back and they could have won it right to the death. In the end,

:53:21. > :53:23.neither side did. It is the second draw for the Scarlets this season.

:53:24. > :53:27.They will come away with two points but they will also feel as if they

:53:28. > :53:32.have lost two points and Edinburgh, after the absolute hammering at the

:53:33. > :53:37.Liberty Stadium last week, they think they may well have got things

:53:38. > :53:41.back on track. It will be a lift to their spirits and it would be a long

:53:42. > :53:47.journey home from the Scarlets with plenty to think about, but they

:53:48. > :53:54.haven't lost, it has ended all square, it has ended 20-20.

:53:55. > :54:00.As we said, it was the perfect start for the Scarlets, a try after 36

:54:01. > :54:07.seconds, and they looked in control for much of the first half, Liam

:54:08. > :54:10.Williams crossing out a very good break from Alun Davies. But before

:54:11. > :54:14.half-time arrives, Tim Visser crossed for the home side and it

:54:15. > :54:18.looks like Edinburgh had snuck back in, but we thought things would open

:54:19. > :54:26.up in the second half, but a change of emphasis. John Birtley with a

:54:27. > :54:30.yellow card with ten to go, and then a cross with a cross with the hosts.

:54:31. > :54:36.A dramatic end, but the final score, 20-20 and we returned to

:54:37. > :54:40.Murrayfield to Jake Ball with Phil Steele.

:54:41. > :54:45.Commiserations, Jake, that was the one that got away, that draw? Yes,

:54:46. > :54:51.we talked about starting well, we just did not get off on the third.

:54:52. > :54:56.We let them back in the game. A bit disappointed with how we came out in

:54:57. > :55:02.the second half. At the end, you could have lost it, it could have

:55:03. > :55:06.gone down the line and put it safe? It is down to determination,

:55:07. > :55:10.desperate to win the game, the boys will be gutted from that

:55:11. > :55:14.performance. We need to come back strong next week against the

:55:15. > :55:21.Dragons. Thank you for your time, Scott Williams, is your knee OK?

:55:22. > :55:26.Just twisted it, but it is all right. What were your thoughts on

:55:27. > :55:32.the last ten minutes? We had a lot of territory and possession, we did

:55:33. > :55:37.not come out on the second half and in fairness to Edinburgh, they kept

:55:38. > :55:45.at it and our discipline wasn't good enough in the last ten minutes. It

:55:46. > :55:53.lets them into our hearts and... Would you have tried to play for

:55:54. > :55:55.that win if it came from above? The final ten minutes, the final five

:55:56. > :56:02.minutes when you tried to play for the extra when? We have come here to

:56:03. > :56:07.get a win, and, we will be disappointed that we had the draw,

:56:08. > :56:15.but just have to keep building, a tough week, the Dragons next week.

:56:16. > :56:19.On a positive, the role of positives in that first half? Yes, territory

:56:20. > :56:22.and possession was massive. We only came out of the 22 ones and we let

:56:23. > :56:27.them score. We will look back on Monday and have some stuff to work

:56:28. > :56:33.on. Thank you for your time, look after that knee.

:56:34. > :56:37.Phil, Gareth John said it in commentary, that decision to run

:56:38. > :56:44.with 80 on the clock was braver foolhardy, which was it? Brave, I

:56:45. > :56:47.think, people can look at it both ways, but I think they were brave,

:56:48. > :56:54.they wanted to win, they set themselves up to win and I think

:56:55. > :56:58.that was the mindset. Maybe a little bit naive, perhaps, but you have got

:56:59. > :57:04.to applaud their bravery, it didn't come. An it was the decision they

:57:05. > :57:09.made and Fairplay to them. Rob, letters look at the trike that got

:57:10. > :57:15.Edinburgh on level terms, Paul Burley, he broke their hearts in the

:57:16. > :57:19.end, what you make of this? Defensively, Edinburgh were great in

:57:20. > :57:23.the first half, and that aggression came through in their play to read

:57:24. > :57:26.the second period. They started to dominate the breakdown, the set

:57:27. > :57:31.piece and their scrum was first and once John Barclay had gone off, I

:57:32. > :57:37.think the momentum was almost 100% with Edinburgh. They capitalised on

:57:38. > :57:41.that. They kept the ball tight, the driving line-out was pretty good

:57:42. > :57:45.throughout and what they did, which the Scarlets didn't do, that was

:57:46. > :57:50.attacked the gain line, runflat and hard. With their midfield players,

:57:51. > :57:54.and the replacements, they hit the ball very, very flat, constantly

:57:55. > :57:59.across the gain line. On the front foot, you are a yard or so from the

:58:00. > :58:04.line, the opposition is down to 14 men, there is every chance of

:58:05. > :58:07.crossing and that is the difference. Jake Ball was you want to watch at

:58:08. > :58:15.the start, he did have an excellent game. -- your one to watch. His ball

:58:16. > :58:21.carrying was great all day stop the way he placed the ball so quickly,

:58:22. > :58:25.really quick ball with the props. Here, in the beginning, he gets down

:58:26. > :58:34.early, quick reaction which led to the try. Here, that of the horrific

:58:35. > :58:38.body position. -- a terrific body position. He played it well, his

:58:39. > :58:44.work in the tight exchanges, fantastic. That was superb play.

:58:45. > :58:48.Staying at his feet, getting through, throwing the ball down.

:58:49. > :58:56.Let's ran up the rest of the scores from tonight. -- run up. The

:58:57. > :59:02.Leinster game are still going on, that is not a final score, but I

:59:03. > :59:04.have just heard that McGrath is good again. , it is now 35, 23, looking

:59:05. > :59:16.like a Leinster win. We cannot offer the Scarlets

:59:17. > :59:20.congratulations but congratulations to Phil Davies, he has become a

:59:21. > :59:25.grandfather for the first time today, that is it from us, thank you

:59:26. > :59:28.to Rob, Phil and to everyone for watching, see you on Sunday, goodbye

:59:29. > :59:32.for now.
