:00:24. > :00:26.It was a ferocious match with no quarter given or asked, collisions

:00:27. > :00:34.brutal, intensity unrelenting. De Villiers, brilliant, brilliant

:00:35. > :00:47.score! Both of them receiving treatment...

:00:48. > :00:51.The biggest concern for Warren Gatland is, of the key players who

:00:52. > :00:55.are missing, how many will be back? And the intensity never let up, and

:00:56. > :00:59.with the game balanced on a knife edge, it was always destined to come

:01:00. > :01:04.down to one lap saw one stroke of good fortune.

:01:05. > :01:13.Brilliant by Jack to greet -- Jaque Fourie! Massive frustration, at the

:01:14. > :01:20.end of the day, we did not win. It was not to be. Hello, good evening

:01:21. > :01:24.and welcome to Scrum V. It was brutal, it was uncompromising and

:01:25. > :01:28.utterly compelling, but ultimately another agonising defeat for Wales.

:01:29. > :01:33.Jonathan Davies and Gwyn Jones were both there, their thoughts on a few

:01:34. > :01:34.moments, but first let's relive that pulsate in encounter at the

:01:35. > :02:00.Millennium Stadium. The champions of Europe against the

:02:01. > :02:07.second-best team the world. Vermeulen takes the first catch.

:02:08. > :02:11.Fourie du Preez at scrum-half, well taken by Morne Steyn. Wales with the

:02:12. > :02:25.attacking line-out. Toby Faletau wins at the tail.

:02:26. > :02:34.Jonathan Davies picks up the inadvertent ball! He is still going!

:02:35. > :02:45.The tackle is by Flip van der Merwe. Penalty advantage to Wales.

:02:46. > :03:03.And straight as ever, Leigh Halfpenny with the first points of

:03:04. > :03:23.the game, Wales lead 3-0. Fourie du Preez with the follow-up

:03:24. > :03:25.tackle, good offensive rucking by the Springboks, and they can

:03:26. > :03:43.themselves the penalty. -- earn. One of these, Morne Steyn opens

:03:44. > :03:53.South Africa's account, three to three.

:03:54. > :03:58.Sam Warburton tackled by Eben Etzebeth. Jonathan Davies comes

:03:59. > :04:28.through! The ball has gone forward. South

:04:29. > :04:32.Africa, hands in the ruck. Well, it is a penalty fest in the opening

:04:33. > :04:36.minutes. Well, Wales have what looks like another three points, but they

:04:37. > :05:03.will have wanted more. Fantastic break.

:05:04. > :05:09.George North is beaten by Habana. Bismarck du Plessis, Lee Williamson

:05:10. > :05:16.cannot tackle him. He off-loads to Jean de Villiers, De Villiers is

:05:17. > :05:21.over, and Alain Rolland awards the drive. Fantastic break out by South

:05:22. > :05:25.Africa! That is a reward for ambition, they could have kicked for

:05:26. > :05:30.territory, but once Bryan Habana looked up and saw rigid Hibbard, he

:05:31. > :05:31.chuckled to himself, but what a fantastic run by the South African

:05:32. > :05:44.winger. Injury to Williams. Jonathan Davies

:05:45. > :05:46.is coming off, a double blow for Wales to concede the try and lose

:05:47. > :06:08.two players. This time it is Adam Johnson cannot

:06:09. > :06:17.get up. Try awarded. The power of the Springbok pack, oh, they are an

:06:18. > :06:27.immense force. Bismarck du Plessis...

:06:28. > :06:37.Penalty advantage, Mike Phillips does not wanted. You will see Gethin

:06:38. > :06:41.Jenkins makes the appeal, because when he goes down, he is allowed to

:06:42. > :06:51.place the ball, the arm is still there.

:06:52. > :07:01.Third successful Leigh Halfpenny, Wales nine, South Africa, after two

:07:02. > :07:07.tries, 17. -- success for. Wales have lost three players in the first

:07:08. > :07:09.half-hour, Allen Jones is the third, Scott Andrews comes on into the

:07:10. > :07:22.front row. Van der Merwe with the take.

:07:23. > :07:35.Bismarck du Plessis in his customary position in the driving seat of them

:07:36. > :07:44.all. -- the maul. The advantage is over. Bryan Habana is back. Not a,

:07:45. > :07:58.though. -- not away, though. Wales have the penalty.

:07:59. > :08:07.Beautiful strike, beautiful by Leigh Halfpenny.

:08:08. > :08:27.Scott Andrews comes away with it. Good bounce for him.

:08:28. > :08:32.It is going to blow up now, flag against green was said earlier.

:08:33. > :08:39.Danger for South Africa. Blade goes on, we think there will

:08:40. > :08:56.be a stoppage. -- play. Penalty to Wales, and again it is

:08:57. > :09:05.something like eight apiece at the breakdown.

:09:06. > :09:15.Francois Louw. And everybody has got very excited here. We used to have

:09:16. > :09:34.hands in every breakdown. Now then, did Priestland carry it

:09:35. > :09:38.back? He is off, it does not matter, he is outside the 22 now,

:09:39. > :09:44.Leigh Halfpenny in support, Scott Williams outside.

:09:45. > :10:10.JP Pietersen walls Richard Hibbard down. -- Paul -- hauls. South Africa

:10:11. > :10:16.get the put in at half-time, a chance to catch our breath, what a

:10:17. > :10:22.half of rugby! Wales 12, South Africa 17. Everybody, having with!

:10:23. > :10:37.-- have a with! This time it goes to Wales. And the

:10:38. > :10:42.referee wants a word with Gethin Jenkins. The penalty was against you

:10:43. > :10:48.on this occasion, I hope it is the last time. If you go down again on

:10:49. > :10:52.this site, you are both going off. Well, I cannot tell who has gone

:10:53. > :11:02.down there, I cannot tell who is at fault.

:11:03. > :11:17.Leigh Halfpenny, five kicks out of five, the gap narrows.

:11:18. > :11:26.Oh, it has gone down on that side! He is going to get rid of both of

:11:27. > :11:37.them. He is going to do both of them. Off you go, thank you.

:11:38. > :11:46.Have Wales got a bit prop to come back on? Scott Andrews has gone off.

:11:47. > :11:49.If they have not, it will go to uncontested. He was not the

:11:50. > :11:58.principal architect of that, but when you are warned... It does not

:11:59. > :12:07.matter. Well, uncontested, the ball should still be straight, though!

:12:08. > :12:18.Eben Etzebeth to Bismarck du Plessis... Mtawarira knocks on, and

:12:19. > :12:21.George North is a way! Oh, no, advantage played by Alain Rolland!

:12:22. > :12:27.He will have to explain this one away.

:12:28. > :12:42.Oh, there is a knock-on by Wales. Dan Lydiate.

:12:43. > :12:48.Richard Hibbard, a crunching tackle. Wales are doing to South Africa

:12:49. > :12:53.what's South Africa were doing to Wales, South Africa going

:12:54. > :13:11.backwards. And into touch, a huge defensive display by Wales.

:13:12. > :13:30.Jaque Fourie and Fourie du Preez! That is a try from a master

:13:31. > :13:34.strategist, he saw space, he chased, and the two old hands, recalled to

:13:35. > :13:42.the Springboks, worked it out between them.

:13:43. > :13:46.Lamprey has to do the gig left footed. A chance for Ward and! --

:13:47. > :14:04.wall button. Fourie du Preez comes across,

:14:05. > :14:17.Tipuric is there. Wales Eileen, they must have the

:14:18. > :14:39.turnover, they have got the penalty! -- pile in.

:14:40. > :14:47.South Africa come away with it through Adriaan Strauss somehow.

:14:48. > :14:58.Advantage over, Priestland is back there. And the ball goes out.

:14:59. > :15:07.That is what Le Roux has done again and again. That is a knock-on by Le

:15:08. > :15:17.Roux. Lloyd Williams has set it up, Justin Tipuric over the ball.

:15:18. > :15:44.George North knocks it on. Oh, dear, a sort of Maradona moment!

:15:45. > :15:54.The final whistle goes in Cardiff. It is the same old story. It was

:15:55. > :15:59.close. It was a very good game. The second half did not quite get up to

:16:00. > :16:07.the first. And the final score, Wales 15, South Africa 24. That is

:16:08. > :16:12.what happened on the pitch. Let's find out what the players and

:16:13. > :16:18.coaches had to say. Missed opportunities. We were in the game.

:16:19. > :16:35.We conceded some sort tries. -- soft tries. We have to get ack, to 17-15,

:16:36. > :16:41.and then it is a different, at 17-15 at halfway, rather than get a try

:16:42. > :16:50.under the posts. Some things for us to work on. Very pleased. We knew it

:16:51. > :16:54.was going to be a tough game. We always knew that that was going to

:16:55. > :17:00.be tough, and it was a tough game against the Welsh. The other six

:17:01. > :17:05.Nations championship -- champions. Second half we felt we were

:17:06. > :17:10.controlling it at 23 minutes, and then they scored a try. Then the

:17:11. > :17:17.momentum shifted a bit. The two tries they did score, they did not

:17:18. > :17:23.break us down or anything. From my perspective these were disappointing

:17:24. > :17:29.tries to concede. They did not make as many errors as us in turnovers,

:17:30. > :17:34.and you saw that. Probably a little bit rusty. Hampered by having some

:17:35. > :17:39.key players out and losing some players in the first half, and that

:17:40. > :17:49.this rock did us a little bit. -- disrupted cars. -- disrupted us.

:17:50. > :17:53.Getting up and doing those early morning sessions, the boys were so

:17:54. > :18:01.committed to doing well. We will improve, that is for sure. A

:18:02. > :18:06.downcast Sam Warburton. We have only beaten the Springboks once in 107

:18:07. > :18:09.years. The statistics favour wheels, more possession and territory,

:18:10. > :18:17.carrying more, made more clean breaks, why did that not translate

:18:18. > :18:23.into victory? They turned over 19 times and that was crucial momentum

:18:24. > :18:28.and good positions. Against southern hemisphere sides you have two create

:18:29. > :18:34.an score tries to beat them. It was a great test match, ferocious hits,

:18:35. > :18:50.but I thought Wales did well to be in the game at half-time with the

:18:51. > :18:56.injuries. They had that try from Du Preez. They scored three tries at

:18:57. > :19:05.the end of the day. Wales did not create that much. They played so

:19:06. > :19:08.well. That was the most telling statistic, three tries to nil. It

:19:09. > :19:15.was a creditable performance from Wales, but we want to beat them, and

:19:16. > :19:24.beat them at home. Similar sides in a that they set up. Great

:19:25. > :19:26.ball-carriers, and the kicking game. In all three departments the

:19:27. > :19:33.Springboks were comfortably better than us and have a very striving --

:19:34. > :19:38.driving line-out. We played against 14 men for ten minutes and we did

:19:39. > :19:42.not make an impression on them. The point about the trying at the end

:19:43. > :19:46.was unfortunate but I don't think anyone was complaining that the

:19:47. > :19:51.better team did not win. You mentioned the lack of creativity.

:19:52. > :19:58.What can be done to turn these opportunities into scores and

:19:59. > :20:03.ultimately victories? The South African said they knew that Wales

:20:04. > :20:07.would have a certain style of play and they were affected, but it is

:20:08. > :20:14.easy to defend sometimes. They filled the midfield. It is difficult

:20:15. > :20:17.to break that defence. I would like the stand-off and the full-back to

:20:18. > :20:23.have more of a say in the attack because you have got to look at

:20:24. > :20:26.mismatches, go a couple of times and if it is not on, to go wide again,

:20:27. > :20:31.you have got to assess where you are, and work together and create

:20:32. > :20:38.the overlap. That is what the halfback is there for. If they

:20:39. > :20:40.dating get little bit, if we see these -- if they tinker a little

:20:41. > :20:57.bit, let's see these examples, Hibbard goes with him, look how

:20:58. > :20:59.condensed the defence was there. They are creating something, rather

:21:00. > :21:05.than looking at contact, creating a three on one, or a four on two. Just

:21:06. > :21:12.look up and looked at a forward pass. This was a good play. Scott

:21:13. > :21:18.Williams straightens up, and takes out du Preez. Lovely little

:21:19. > :21:23.runaround by Leigh Halfpenny, and Fourie has a decision to make, he

:21:24. > :21:27.makes the wrong call, and Jonathan Davies takes a lovely run off Scott

:21:28. > :21:34.Williams. This is very early in the game. But they still managed to get

:21:35. > :21:40.back. Priestland and the outside backs have got to bust a gut to get

:21:41. > :21:44.with them and look to score that opportunity. That is what they have

:21:45. > :21:52.to do. They steal a line-out, and what happens? Faletau Is quick

:21:53. > :21:59.enough, but Lookout condensed that defence is. Scott Williams goes with

:22:00. > :22:02.him and holds that inside the things and if Leigh Halfpenny goes with a

:22:03. > :22:08.little pass from the back, look at the numbers out there, you have got

:22:09. > :22:10.four on two without Leigh Halfpenny taking the ball. Rather than looking

:22:11. > :22:17.for the contact issue just have heads up and look at the bus, look

:22:18. > :22:33.for the other option. The South African defence was very condensed.

:22:34. > :22:38.If de Villiers went in, Fourie did. But, like a matador, you bring him

:22:39. > :22:42.on to you, or if you're shooting up you hit him on the outside shoulder.

:22:43. > :22:52.They have to very tactics. They have to score tries, because Argentina

:22:53. > :22:55.will be in the game. What Warren Gatland and Rob Howley will say, you

:22:56. > :23:01.cannot go wide until you have earned the right. Then you go. It might be

:23:02. > :23:05.true for us in the way that we play and that is why the former state get

:23:06. > :23:08.on the way they do, but I would like to see us play more football, get

:23:09. > :23:12.into the channel is a bit sooner, because other teams manage it, and I

:23:13. > :23:21.would like to think that we could do it. That was on the third play

:23:22. > :23:24.sometimes. That is where the best sides are. I thought South Africa

:23:25. > :23:28.would be resuming. It restored my faith in luck rugby when the all

:23:29. > :23:32.Blacks won the game, because they knew that they were going to have a

:23:33. > :23:35.bashing but they played but all with their heads up and scored six tries

:23:36. > :23:41.to four, and that is the difference. How do you beat these southern

:23:42. > :23:43.hemisphere sides, you do the basics right but you have got to score

:23:44. > :23:53.tries, because they will score against you. The date kick away too

:23:54. > :23:58.much possession? We kicked the ball a lot. A lot was said publicly

:23:59. > :24:02.beforehand, but we kick the ball as much as anyone and we just came

:24:03. > :24:07.second best. Normally we kick long and chase up the pitch. That gives

:24:08. > :24:11.teams an opportunity to counterattack. We need to compete a

:24:12. > :24:15.little bit more in the middle third of the pitch. We did not do it well

:24:16. > :24:19.at all. This is an example from George North, who kicks, but there

:24:20. > :24:24.was nobody putting pressure on the South African who catches the ball

:24:25. > :24:29.in acres of space on the halfway line. He did not have to jump to get

:24:30. > :24:32.the ball, and he puts a kick in that puts Wales under pressure, huge

:24:33. > :24:38.pressure, they get a penalty from this, a good example of two kicks.

:24:39. > :24:43.This is a box kick from nine, chasing the centre, the wingers are

:24:44. > :24:51.chasing, but look a much time there is for Pietersen the gadget. He runs

:24:52. > :24:56.15 yards before he is touched. This is a line-out. This is a move,

:24:57. > :24:59.line-out chasing the game. It was too far anyway but I was surprised

:25:00. > :25:06.that we would consider do do that from that position. As a contrast,

:25:07. > :25:11.big chase, he has to jump outside the 22, look how many players are

:25:12. > :25:14.there, they knew that they were going to kick, as we did, but their

:25:15. > :25:21.response to the chase and so much better. This is when du Preez is

:25:22. > :25:24.chasing Leigh Halfpenny. Locale quickly they get there to secure

:25:25. > :25:30.that and they get a penalty from that and that this three points.

:25:31. > :25:34.Again, the consistency and dropping the ball out to the 22, making

:25:35. > :25:39.people jump for it. And making life very difficult. It was a big

:25:40. > :25:45.friends. We kick the ball five times behind their three quarters line. We

:25:46. > :25:53.got the ball back once and one of them ended up in the try for De

:25:54. > :25:57.Villiers. We are normally good at that kicking game but we lost Leigh

:25:58. > :26:03.Halfpenny from full-back which might have made a difference. It is about

:26:04. > :26:11.fine margins. Do they just execute with better position? -- precision.

:26:12. > :26:18.The kick is only as good as the chase. I thought it was, we played

:26:19. > :26:25.exceptionally well and it was, we were in a arm wrestle, but we did

:26:26. > :26:32.not use George North enough down the number ten channel. We just did not

:26:33. > :26:38.create enough to deserve to win that match. The other thing Warren

:26:39. > :26:43.Gatland said in a press conference was, it is a big step up between

:26:44. > :26:46.regional rugby and that rugby. We know it is coming all the time and

:26:47. > :26:50.yet it is a shame that he feels that he has to instil a greater level of

:26:51. > :26:54.fitness when he gets the players, that they have to do this extra

:26:55. > :26:57.training. If it is a systematic thing that is always happening it

:26:58. > :27:00.should be being addressed properly rather than just waiting until he

:27:01. > :27:10.has them then he feels he has to get them fit to play this game. I think

:27:11. > :27:14.that the front nine is not as competitive as the southern

:27:15. > :27:20.hemisphere. I don't know what it was yesterday. The momentum, Wales had a

:27:21. > :27:24.lot of momentum in that game, they had possession and territory, but

:27:25. > :27:28.when South Africa had the ball, you had the momentum shift. You could

:27:29. > :27:33.see, they injected pace into the game when they won the attack, they

:27:34. > :27:37.asked questions of the defence, and sometimes we did not seem to do

:27:38. > :27:40.that. You are playing against the second best side in the world, and

:27:41. > :27:51.we are close, and little things make a huge difference. We will hear now

:27:52. > :27:56.from a Springbok legend, Joost van der Westhuizen. He is suffering from

:27:57. > :28:00.multi-year and disease and is in the UK to promote awareness of the

:28:01. > :28:11.disease. It was a very poignant interview. He played for the

:28:12. > :28:17.Springboks when the World Cup in 1995. On the six occasions that he

:28:18. > :28:25.faced Wales he won every game. But now aged just 42 he fights a daily

:28:26. > :28:27.Apple against motoneuron disease, which is a degeneration of motor

:28:28. > :30:01.neurone is in the brain and spinal court. -- cord.

:30:02. > :30:06.The great and the good of Welsh rugby you are at a dinner this week

:30:07. > :30:12.in aid of his foundation, all with special memories of a special 9. He

:30:13. > :30:17.was probably one of the most powerful players, not a heavy one,

:30:18. > :30:22.but he was tall, strong, lean, exceptionally quick off the mark and

:30:23. > :30:25.was a player who made things happen. When UCB Bull supper with this

:30:26. > :30:34.dreadful sort of disease, it just makes you realise that one minute

:30:35. > :30:38.you are a super sportsman, then the next minute suffering. -- when UCB

:30:39. > :30:47.Bull. We are very fortunate to be in the company of the two greatest...

:30:48. > :30:51.He was a natural try scorer, one of the key factors in South Africa

:30:52. > :30:57.winning the World Cup in 1995, a magnificent competitor, a fantastic

:30:58. > :31:02.player. He was a nemesis for Wales for ten years, I was fortunate to

:31:03. > :31:05.play against in four or five times. He had the abilities to score from

:31:06. > :31:08.anywhere on the park, and what he has done over the last two years

:31:09. > :31:18.since his illness, he is an inspiration. It must be nice meeting

:31:19. > :31:37.up with Lee Jenkins and Rob Howley as well.

:31:38. > :31:43.You say that this illness has changed you - which we? -- which

:31:44. > :32:46.we? Joost van der Westhuizen, if there

:32:47. > :32:50.is anything and can put a game of rugby into perspective, it is that.

:32:51. > :32:56.I find that upsetting to watch, he was a great player, one of the

:32:57. > :33:00.strongest scrum halves ever, and I lost two rugby league collects to

:33:01. > :33:05.the same illness, and it is sad to see the effect it has on people. --

:33:06. > :33:09.colleagues. It is only a game, and it certainly puts life into

:33:10. > :33:14.perspective, yeah. Desperately sad to see a man who was such a

:33:15. > :33:19.warrior, epitomised the strong man on the pitch, in such a physical

:33:20. > :33:24.condition as that. That is right, that is why it is so upsetting, the

:33:25. > :33:27.embodiment of athleticism, one of the finest athletes reduced by a

:33:28. > :33:31.degenerative disease to a man who is really struggling with movement

:33:32. > :33:35.generally. But one thing about rugby union, it is a very strong community

:33:36. > :33:39.of brotherhood across the world, and people come together at all levels

:33:40. > :33:43.to help people when they need that support. Great to see him back in

:33:44. > :33:47.the UK, looking up with all his old buddies. Just a reminder of the

:33:48. > :33:52.immense talents that he was on the pitch. We can move back to

:33:53. > :33:56.yesterday's test match rugby now, Island took on Samoa, the highlights

:33:57. > :34:14.in a moment, but first Scotland versus Japan. -- Ireland.

:34:15. > :34:24.Seymour goes in for the try, that is a good score.

:34:25. > :34:36.This is the flyer, an incredible try from Japan, from one end of the

:34:37. > :34:48.pitch to the other. That is how to get back into a game!

:34:49. > :34:57.There is something on here, Jackson over to see more, he is in again,

:34:58. > :35:00.that is a good try! Scrum dominance, line-out dominance, and now a try to

:35:01. > :35:23.take them further ahead. A try for Duncan Weir, that is

:35:24. > :35:25.extraordinary! That is good counter rucking by

:35:26. > :35:30.Ireland, they have turned that one over.

:35:31. > :35:36.A huge amount of space down the far side! A chance for Ireland! Here

:35:37. > :35:45.comes McFadden. O'Brien is stopped, he is off, he is

:35:46. > :35:54.over, he has scored! Within touching distance of the

:35:55. > :36:06.line. Again, good presentation, quicker

:36:07. > :36:14.ball. Is it a debut try for his brother? It is pretty close! What a

:36:15. > :36:16.moment for the Carney family! A chance on this narrow side, there is

:36:17. > :36:32.a 3-1 year. -- here. He has done it again, a second try

:36:33. > :36:39.for Dave Carney, can you believe it?! Two tries on his debut, drinks

:36:40. > :36:47.for the Carney yeah tonight, I think! -- Carneys.

:36:48. > :36:54.We will turn our attention now to Wales' next opponents, Argentina.

:36:55. > :36:57.2013 has been a tough year for Argentina. Another winless campaign

:36:58. > :37:07.in the rugby championship and the loss of some big names. Juan Martin

:37:08. > :37:11.Fernandez Lobbe has been sidelined with an elbow injury. Also gone is

:37:12. > :37:14.the technical advisor, a certain Graham Henry, and their head coach

:37:15. > :37:21.of nearly six years, Santiago Phelan. But as Wales discovered last

:37:22. > :37:27.year, you underestimate the Pumas at your peril.

:37:28. > :37:36.The drop goal from Sanchez, he likes it! Nice of load, he is going to go

:37:37. > :37:46.all the way for the try! Fabulous stuff!

:37:47. > :37:56.This is going to be a try in the corner!

:37:57. > :38:02.Argentina thoroughly, thoroughly deserved this win. Wales never

:38:03. > :38:08.recovered from that defeat, losing their next three as they slipped to

:38:09. > :38:11.an Autumn whitewash. Twickenham was the first stop for the Pumas this

:38:12. > :38:13.autumn, where they found themselves up against an England side that beat

:38:14. > :38:23.them twice in the summer. Once more, England spinning and

:38:24. > :38:27.reeling and then driving in, setting themselves, and it seems

:38:28. > :38:31.inevitable, with the crowd at their back, that they will get to the

:38:32. > :38:36.line. Can they get the ball down? Argentina beginning to splinter,

:38:37. > :38:43.penalty advantage, the try is scored, Joe Launchbury stretches out

:38:44. > :38:47.a giant arm and gets the first try of this match for England.

:38:48. > :38:56.Still they come, Launchbury cut off at the ankles.

:38:57. > :39:00.A lovely pass, can Ashton Gate there? He is over but he is held

:39:01. > :39:16.off. Twelvetrees goes on self and gets it

:39:17. > :39:36.down for the try. Dylan Hartley scrabbling his way to

:39:37. > :39:40.the try line. They are just a metre or so from a third England try.

:39:41. > :39:47.Surely it will come now, why did goes, there it is for Ashton. He

:39:48. > :39:54.gets its down this time. England perhaps with a final chance ear for

:39:55. > :39:58.something in the second half. -- here. They come now, Morgan goes

:39:59. > :40:03.straight through, and Ben Morgan gets the touchdown. Suddenly they

:40:04. > :40:09.come to life towards the end of this match. We played well in the first

:40:10. > :40:14.half, I was pleased with the intent. I thought the scoreline reflected

:40:15. > :40:18.the half, so going in as 24-6, we wanted to take on, and the last try

:40:19. > :40:22.at the end, we never really did that. Credits to Argentina, they

:40:23. > :40:26.upped their game in the second half. We need to be better than that next

:40:27. > :40:31.week, that's for sure. Stuart Lancaster was right, Argentina upped

:40:32. > :40:34.their game, what sort of threat do they represent? They may not be the

:40:35. > :40:39.team they were this time last year, but they have got a scrum, and we

:40:40. > :40:43.have got injuries in the front row, and a good driving line-out. We have

:40:44. > :40:47.got our hands full that, and it is amazing how quickly the momentum has

:40:48. > :40:51.shifted with injuries. We are looking at the Pumas in a different

:40:52. > :40:56.light now. It will be a challenge, no doubt. On the injury note, they

:40:57. > :41:04.have confirmed four players invited to train, Rhodri Jones, Hallam Amos,

:41:05. > :41:08.Tom Prydie from the Ragan is as well. Jonathan Davies is out for the

:41:09. > :41:12.rest of the autumn season. Remarkably, he made more metres than

:41:13. > :41:17.anyone else in the Welsh side, despite being on the pitch for just

:41:18. > :41:20.12 minutes. That is an enormous blow, isn't it? Yes, he is

:41:21. > :41:25.developing into a world-class player, the organisers the defence.

:41:26. > :41:33.Well, that is what they are there for, to develop these players, an

:41:34. > :41:37.interesting selection next week. It might be an opportunity to put James

:41:38. > :41:43.Hook in for a bit more creativity. Yesterday, I thought he played well,

:41:44. > :41:49.and he deserves to have a spot. I think I would go with James Hook.

:41:50. > :41:52.Again, as Gwyn said, emphasising how would be kicking was yesterday, in

:41:53. > :41:56.comparison to the South Africans, that is one of their strengths. You

:41:57. > :42:00.know what the Argentinians will do, they will welly it in the air and

:42:01. > :42:05.chase all day, hanging, kick their penalties and take drop goal is

:42:06. > :42:11.unscrambled to a result. We have to create and scored tries against

:42:12. > :42:14.these type of sides. I would like to see Leigh Halfpenny hitting the

:42:15. > :42:20.channels out wide again, and maybe with James Hook to create those

:42:21. > :42:24.spaces. It is going to be tough. I thought he played well yesterday, he

:42:25. > :42:29.plays well when he is an instinctive position. It is not the same as

:42:30. > :42:33.playing 12 or 13, although we as a talented guy. Also, if we are going

:42:34. > :42:38.to play those players in the middle, it leaves us quite likes to play the

:42:39. > :42:43.way we normally do. George North, even if he does not start in the

:42:44. > :42:46.centre, he has been employed as a ball carrier in the centre from

:42:47. > :42:48.line-outs and scrums, to give us back our shape that we have been

:42:49. > :42:57.successful at using in the past. I thought they would utilise him,

:42:58. > :42:59.with the loss of Jamie Roberts, to come down the channel, but we did

:43:00. > :43:06.not see a lot of him yesterday. He did not come in very much. A lot of

:43:07. > :43:10.people on Twitter have said, should George North be the ball-carrier and

:43:11. > :43:15.play in the centre? We will discuss this on Scrum V Extra, which follows

:43:16. > :43:18.is immediately online after this programme. The weekend promised to

:43:19. > :43:21.be brutal and it certainly lived up to its billing.
