:00:22. > :00:32.The Ospreys play their part in a Dublin thriller. The Scarlets seek
:00:32. > :00:37.revenge against Treviso. The Blues usher in a new era at the Arms Park
:00:37. > :00:44.and the Dragons travel north looking for two wins from two. How will the
:00:44. > :00:48.new laws affect the game? We hear the thoughts of Brian Moore. I can
:00:48. > :00:54.stay square and carry on pushing and go off the ball. Will this year's
:00:54. > :00:59.Heineken Cup be the last? We discuss the future of the world's premier
:00:59. > :01:04.club rugby tournament. And we spend an emotional day here as they play
:01:04. > :01:11.their first home game since their clubhouse was destroyed by fire.
:01:11. > :01:16.Good afternoon. Welcome to Scrum V Sunday. We have another jam-packed
:01:16. > :01:20.show. Martin and Jonathan are here. They'll offer their thoughts and
:01:20. > :01:35.opinions on all the stories, but we'll kick off with the action and
:01:35. > :01:44.the thriller in Dublin. Evans returned to the side replacing Ryan
:01:44. > :01:49.Jones. Mike McCarthy was making his first start for Leinster and they
:01:49. > :02:43.were once again without their six Lions.
:02:43. > :02:58.Away goes Kearney on the outside. Simple for Leinster again. Winning
:02:58. > :03:48.the turnover and moving it wide and the backs did
:03:48. > :03:53.High from the fly-half. No problem for the Ospreys and they get back
:03:53. > :04:18.just before the interval. I think Joe beer beerman -- Joe
:04:18. > :04:24.Biermann has got there. Lovely hands. Beerman barrelling over.
:04:24. > :04:54.Just. The centre gets over and the Ospreys
:04:54. > :05:26.take the lead. Shane Jennings there. Not happy.
:05:26. > :06:15.Cronin gets the yellow. They have been warned.
:06:15. > :06:59.Clear Gopperth. No problem for the ten.
:06:59. > :07:06.If you had told me this would weeks ago we would have taken it. We are
:07:06. > :07:12.not where we want to be in performance, but we got in and we
:07:12. > :07:16.are getting back home. We are excited by that. Dramatic and
:07:16. > :07:21.exciting finish and Jonathan, what is it about the Ospreys in Dublin,
:07:22. > :07:25.it's becoming a real bogey site for Leinster? I don't know. They must
:07:25. > :07:31.have a good night after if they get a result. I don't know. I feel the
:07:31. > :07:36.defence is solid. They got a good pack of forwards, which makes it
:07:36. > :07:41.tough for the opposition. Of course, Dan Biggar kicks everything. The
:07:41. > :07:48.first half Leinster dominated and it could have been way ahead, but took
:07:48. > :07:51.chances. There were a few disappointments going wide, but
:07:51. > :07:58.again they clawed their way back and hang on in there. They take their
:07:58. > :08:03.chances and scored two lovely tries with Biermann, but it's a solid
:08:03. > :08:07.defence. Classic encounter, Martin. Real advert for the League and
:08:07. > :08:14.satisfy-sawed a bit, but ended in a draw which I guess was fair. What
:08:14. > :08:19.was the Ospreys' secret there? We saR Leinster last week and they were
:08:19. > :08:22.the best attacking side in Europe, but defensive organisation in the
:08:22. > :08:26.Ospreys was outstanding. We have a couple of examples. First and
:08:27. > :08:32.foremost you have to make the one-off tackles. Stops the momentum
:08:32. > :08:39.there. They don't overcommit the Ospreys to the breakdown, so
:08:39. > :08:45.Gopperth is looking at a white line. It is easy to head up. Leinster
:08:45. > :08:49.found it difficult to get momentum. It was a very well-organised plan
:08:49. > :08:53.and they stuck to it for the whole game and a few lapses earlier on,
:08:53. > :08:57.but when they were broken, a couple of examples here. This sums them up.
:08:57. > :09:01.Desperation in defence once the first line is broken. You see Tom
:09:01. > :09:05.Smith, under huge pressure. Massive turning point. He's in and steals
:09:05. > :09:13.the ball. Look at the numbers working hard to get back. That's
:09:13. > :09:17.what you have to do when you go to Dublin. This man is on fire. 19
:09:17. > :09:22.points yesterday and kept them in touch throughout the game and keeps
:09:22. > :09:27.you in the score, so he has a kicking game in defence and that's
:09:27. > :09:33.90%. Dan Biggar. You were singing his praises last week. He has shown
:09:33. > :09:40.he's got the Tom prement. As I said, last yeeBG's Six Nations has made
:09:40. > :09:45.him -- temprement. As I said last year's Six Nations has made him. He
:09:45. > :09:50.had a run there. Then there were the changes and last year I thought he
:09:50. > :09:54.was one of the key players and I think that he's knocking everything
:09:54. > :09:57.over and the defence, they work hard. They get up quickly and
:09:57. > :10:02.organise themselves quickly. The interesting thing for me this year,
:10:03. > :10:08.the turnovers, especially Leinster, they've gone wide very, very quickly
:10:08. > :10:14.because they try to catch Gopperth, but also over the weekend a lot of
:10:14. > :10:18.sides were looking up and working the short side. Leinster scored a
:10:18. > :10:24.try on the short side and a couple of people have created that, which
:10:24. > :10:29.is great. We'll switch to talk about the Heineken Cup, because it's been
:10:29. > :10:39.the topic this week and Leinster did suggest they wanted it it to stay
:10:39. > :10:43.on. If it goes and is replaced by an Anglo-French tournament that we are
:10:43. > :10:48.not part of, what are the consequences for Welsh rugby?
:10:48. > :10:52.Massive. Financially is one. We are way behind already the regions and
:10:52. > :10:57.that's very, very difficult for the regions. A lot of players will then
:10:57. > :11:03.go and wonder where they will be. I don't think none of us really know
:11:03. > :11:07.what the situation is. With Martyn Thomas or the RFU they are saying
:11:07. > :11:11.the English clubs have signed up for two years and they've said they're
:11:11. > :11:16.going. The French said they are leaving and then Leinster might go
:11:16. > :11:22.and someone else. I just think it has a great format. Sitting around
:11:22. > :11:26.the table and I understand English views because they've been saying
:11:26. > :11:30.this for two years. 15 months have gone buy and nothing being resolved?
:11:30. > :11:34.You want to change things. I feel that the thing is, one,
:11:34. > :11:40.qualification. Yeah.I agree with the top six. I do. That's the
:11:40. > :11:44.general consensus. It shouldn't be automatic qualification. I know
:11:44. > :11:49.there might not be a Scottish team in there or Cardiff, but I think
:11:49. > :11:52.there's a lot of stones thrown at the rabbit and it would lift it. If
:11:52. > :11:57.you are not good enough to play in the top six, if there's no Welsh
:11:57. > :12:01.sides in the top six and that could happen, then the Welsh will have to
:12:01. > :12:05.boost the regions and get players in there and also what the French and
:12:05. > :12:10.gliR clubs are worried about is the fact that especially in Leinster and
:12:10. > :12:19.Munster, a week before the Ian Ken cup game they are smashing the hell
:12:19. > :12:23.out of each other and the others are in fresh and the am Lynn is a strong
:12:23. > :12:27.competition, so if you are going to the am Lynn and you win it that's a
:12:27. > :12:31.great achievement. Martin's point about maybe you wouldn't have the
:12:31. > :12:42.Scottish or the Italians if you are forced into the top six, the Amlin
:12:42. > :12:45.is good enough. enough. Martin's point about maybe you wouldn't have
:12:45. > :12:47.the Scottish or the Italians if you are forced into the top six, the
:12:47. > :12:51.Amlin is good enough. HITE You look at it the last couple of years. It's
:12:51. > :12:56.great. The top three sides or four drop down and it will lift that.
:12:56. > :13:09.It's a very strong competition. The worry is the English and the French
:13:09. > :13:13.want more money. It's the lawyers who will make the money. We have to
:13:14. > :13:19.leave it there, but we'll chat about this a lot more in Scrum V Extra
:13:19. > :13:21.Time. It's on straight after we are off air, so if you have any views
:13:21. > :13:38.get in touch with us. Ever wish there was more time, well
:13:38. > :13:46.now we'll be spending a bit more time to discuss all the stories from
:13:46. > :13:54.the weekend on Scrum V Extra time. Time. Only available on-line at BBC.
:13:54. > :14:00.The programme will be on just after the show finishes. If you have a
:14:00. > :14:01.question for the panel or there's something you want the team to
:14:01. > :14:19.discuss e-mail the show. Last weekend the Scarlets were
:14:19. > :14:22.thrashed in their opening encounter against Leinster. This week, they
:14:22. > :14:32.were trying to get their season back on track against Treviso.
:14:32. > :14:40.Simon Easterby made one change to the side that lost last week. Jordan
:14:40. > :14:44.Williams replacing the injured Christian Philips. Jonathan Davies
:14:44. > :14:50.was named on the bench. The Scarlets were out for revenge after suffering
:14:50. > :15:41.a 41-17 thrashing at the hands of Treviso last season.
:15:41. > :16:00.Davies has got a second from nothing.
:16:00. > :16:09.Davies reacts to the ball in the face. There is a little undercurrent
:16:09. > :16:14.there. There is more there now. You've thrown the ball at an
:16:14. > :16:15.opponent and it's a yellow card and you've overpaned him. Both of you
:16:15. > :17:01.are going to the bin. That's a collective one for the
:17:01. > :17:16.team. Schindler -- Shingler adds another
:17:16. > :17:49.three. Treviso denied by the TMO right at
:17:49. > :17:53.the death. Managed the territory better and we have won the territory
:17:53. > :17:56.battle comfortably, which obviously leads to applying pressure to a side
:17:56. > :18:01.that have to score tries to get back in the game, so that worked out
:18:01. > :18:05.well. Perhaps, obviously, a pleasing set piece performance in the scrum
:18:05. > :18:09.with elements from both front rows which was important for us. Danny
:18:10. > :18:13.Wilson a lot happier than last weekend and you previewed this on
:18:13. > :18:16.Friday night and you said the Scarlets had a right to be worried
:18:16. > :18:21.after last season, but they came out and bossed that game. How
:18:21. > :18:26.significant a aroundaround is that considering what happened last week?
:18:26. > :18:36.I think it's early days to say it's a must-win game. They go to Rodney
:18:36. > :18:38.Parade on Friday. They bossed it. They have way too much talent to
:18:38. > :18:42.have the results they've been having. Gareth Davies was
:18:42. > :18:46.outstanding. That try he scored on the first try, this one here, I
:18:46. > :18:51.don't know if there are many scrum halves or in the UK that will score
:18:51. > :18:57.this. Two years ago he was seen as breaking true. He had a little last
:18:57. > :19:05.-- through. He had a little lull last season, but he's coming on.
:19:05. > :19:10.Everything seems to happen. He was in the squad for my last game with
:19:10. > :19:15.Wales and he was the full package. And the yellow card, there's a dog
:19:15. > :19:18.in there, which also helps. We talked about Lloyd Williams playing
:19:18. > :19:22.for the Blues and how he is, the pretender to the throne for the
:19:22. > :19:28.number nine, but for that, is Gareth Davies narrowing the gap? I think he
:19:28. > :19:34.has. Lloyd is in number two position now and he's started well. That
:19:34. > :19:40.performance has got to get you noticed. He is sharp and scores
:19:40. > :19:46.tries from close and zan. He has a dog about him. He's a nuisance. For
:19:46. > :19:51.me, it was the scrummage. Looking very, very good for Scarlets and we
:19:51. > :19:55.all know footballers are all over the park and if they get the set
:19:55. > :19:59.piece right they're capable of beating anyone, so they didn't lose
:19:59. > :20:03.their focus or concentration against Treviso and kept the defensive
:20:03. > :20:08.pattern, although they cut them a little. They need to work on that.
:20:08. > :20:12.Good for them. For the second week, the Scarlets were looking powerful
:20:12. > :20:17.in the scrum. That leads us on to the next item, which is all about
:20:17. > :20:20.the scrummage. Last season we spent more time talking about this and it
:20:20. > :20:23.was usually for the wrong reasons. The laws this season have been
:20:23. > :20:28.tweaked slightly for safety reasons. We have been looking at whether or
:20:28. > :20:35.not it will make a difference. The scrum - for the rugby outsider, it's
:20:35. > :20:39.the thing that defines the game. A primal battle between two packs of
:20:39. > :20:47.forwards, but what was once a compelling part of the game has
:20:47. > :20:52.slowly become a blight. We are in a present mess. Action needed to be
:20:52. > :20:56.taken and it has been. That's worked. First scrum, free kick. Who
:20:56. > :21:02.better to gauge the success or otherwise of a new global trial than
:21:02. > :21:07.former England hugger Brian Moore? It's not just me who is whinging
:21:07. > :21:15.about this. The scrum is an obsession for him. Safety was the
:21:15. > :21:23.main driver for the changes. Last season, this is what we heard and
:21:23. > :21:27.saw. And nearly 60% of the time during the Six Nations it led to
:21:27. > :21:38.this. This season, it has changed to this. Two weeks in and the Kpro 12
:21:38. > :21:43.has only seen 18% of scrums collapse. Will the simple changes be
:21:43. > :21:47.enough to solve the problems? It will go as far as it is possible,
:21:47. > :21:50.but provided that not only is the new engagement sequence, which is
:21:51. > :21:53.all that has changed. No, sir else. Everything else is the same and
:21:53. > :21:58.always been there, but it's important that those laws are
:21:58. > :22:04.refereed properly. In theory it should make it easier for the
:22:04. > :22:08.referees. That's just a joke, isn't it? It will be a bit more
:22:08. > :22:13.straightforward to referee. The fact that they've got the bind before you
:22:13. > :22:17.engage and you've got to be at least now four heads -- forehead to
:22:17. > :22:21.forehead, so 30% less impact on the hit. Common sense is going to tell
:22:21. > :22:25.you there will be more chance of that scrum staying up. As well as
:22:25. > :22:30.the new sequence, a number of laws which have been flouted for too long
:22:30. > :22:33.will be enforced once more. Crooked feeds and early shoves have always
:22:33. > :22:39.been illegal but tolerated for years. Not any more. The only change
:22:39. > :22:44.is zero tolerance on it. Early engage, not taking the hit. Crooked
:22:44. > :22:50.feet in the scrum. Delaying the feet in the scrum. If it's a free kick,
:22:50. > :22:53.if you do it a second time, no matter what the time difference,
:22:53. > :22:57.there will be a penalty. Third time, it will be a penalty and warning and
:22:57. > :23:04.you do it a fourth time and it will be a penalty and a yellow card. As a
:23:04. > :23:10.consequence of the laws, huggers will be forced to rediscover a
:23:10. > :23:16.long-forgotten art, the art of hooking. It's more of an art now.
:23:16. > :23:20.Rather than the old days and ploughing over. We will have to go
:23:20. > :23:24.back to striking too. You have never done in your professional career?
:23:24. > :23:28.Early days. I've been joking. There are those who think the hooker
:23:28. > :23:31.balancing on one leg could be inviting injury. In the years that
:23:31. > :23:35.have passed since hooking was required, packs have got much bigger
:23:35. > :23:42.and much more powerful. They are saying it's really unsafe, because
:23:42. > :23:46.you've got seven men where he has to lift his head up and it's called
:23:46. > :23:50.hooking. What they're describing is a situation where if I have all my
:23:50. > :23:54.weight on one foot and all the pressure is coming from a drive it's
:23:54. > :23:58.difficult, because I'm resisting. However, you are not supposed to be
:23:58. > :24:03.applying pressure and driving and shoving, before the ball leaves the
:24:03. > :24:07.hands. With early shoves outlawed and the hookers are skilful, safety,
:24:07. > :24:11.according to Brian, shouldn't be an issue. If you are good enough,
:24:11. > :24:23.before that shove comes on legally you get it away. I'll show you how
:24:23. > :24:27.quick it is. If I go there - that is is. I don't know. You have to time
:24:27. > :24:32.it. It's less than a second. All clear then, so the critical question
:24:32. > :24:37.is will these changes cure what has become the biggest ill in rugby?
:24:37. > :24:42.This is the last chance for us to get this scrum right. It's a hugely
:24:42. > :24:46.important part of the game and so it should be as well. We've got to the
:24:46. > :24:51.stage where people there thinking it's a badge of honour, if I can't
:24:51. > :24:55.ram down and push as hard as I can I'm not a man and you weren't
:24:55. > :24:59.because you never had to do this. That's nonsense. It comes out
:24:59. > :25:04.quickly. Is that not desirable, or do you want it to not come in, reset
:25:04. > :25:11.twice, maybe come inened get driven back and collapse, penalty. Is that
:25:12. > :25:18.better than in, out and go and play? If you think that you want your head
:25:18. > :25:23.testing. A very opinionated man. What you didn't see there, he
:25:23. > :25:27.challenged me to a one-on-one scrum, which was terrifying. He's been
:25:28. > :25:38.banging on about that for years and years. He gets excited. He loves it.
:25:38. > :25:44.He talks about it. He absolutely loves it. Two weeks into the new
:25:44. > :25:47.season, we saw the statistic, 18% of scrums collapsing so far in the
:25:47. > :25:56.competition. Has it made a difference? Every prop is shouting
:25:56. > :25:59.at the TV now, so I don't want to talk it to death. Something had to
:25:59. > :26:03.be done. I think the biggest thing from when I was a player was the hit
:26:03. > :26:07.causing the major problem, even in training. As soon as you come to
:26:08. > :26:13.live sessions as soon as it came on it collapsed. We've got to give it
:26:14. > :26:17.time. It's hard to pass comment. The biggest issue is instead of
:26:17. > :26:25.collapsed scrums, it's around feeding. You want a straight put in
:26:25. > :26:32.and strike, but there are so many grey areas and - If you're not an
:26:32. > :26:36.authority then you are. We used to go channel one and two and hooking
:26:36. > :26:40.was a big part. We were not the strongest scrum. We threw the ball
:26:40. > :26:45.in and the hooker striked it and came back. We got it out quickly.
:26:45. > :26:52.And when I played for Wales too. I understand what - we knew what ball
:26:52. > :26:55.we wanted to attack with and strengths and weaknesses. I think
:26:55. > :26:59.Brian is right. Hooking is hooking the ball and things have changed,
:26:59. > :27:04.but it's an entertainment sport we're in, is the scrummage has
:27:04. > :27:11.become a joke and now it's gone from collapsing and the biggest joke is
:27:11. > :27:14.the crooked feet. Well, I think if the referees have got to be strong
:27:14. > :27:19.on this and everyone else has to support them and if they say, right,
:27:19. > :27:26.not straight, do it next time, you're a yellow card, if it's the
:27:26. > :27:29.case he's off. And the next one, then another yellow card. It
:27:29. > :27:33.happened in League when we were trying to outlaw head-high shots.
:27:33. > :27:38.Everyone was swinging arms and you copped one on the face, the chin and
:27:38. > :27:42.nose. Then yellow cards and reds. Some weeks we were playing with two
:27:42. > :27:48.or three men sent off each side and the scores were 40-40. Slowly,
:27:48. > :27:53.because the directive had come from the League we got into the high
:27:53. > :27:57.tackles. The odd ones slipped in, but we have to support the referees
:27:57. > :28:01.and they've got to be vigilant in penalising people. That's the key.
:28:01. > :28:03.Let's hope they will be. Moving on to the Premiership. It kicked off
:28:03. > :28:15.this weekend. Entertaining here. Scott Williams
:28:15. > :28:19.crossed for the visitors' second try, but two tries from the
:28:19. > :28:28.defending champions in the last minute denied a victory. Neath were
:28:28. > :28:40.leaders at half time by Llanelli came back. Josh Lewis crossed line.
:28:40. > :28:46.There was this try from Arran Jones. They won. Quins looked sharper and
:28:46. > :28:56.were rewarded with six tries. Jason Harris there. The Premiership season
:28:56. > :29:01.kicks off this weekend. We are here at St Helens for the Swansea match
:29:01. > :29:06.and to catch up with a former Wales fullback to hear about his new job.
:29:06. > :29:14.Just over two years ago, after failing to recovery fully from a
:29:14. > :29:18.double fracture, Morgan decided to retire. Was it difficult for you
:29:18. > :29:22.mentally to close the door on your playing career and open the new door
:29:23. > :29:28.into coaching? It wasn't something I was thinking about. I was coaching
:29:28. > :29:33.the local team and then Cross Kus got in touch and I was chuffed. I
:29:33. > :29:38.was keen to get on board and it happens over a few days. What are
:29:38. > :29:46.your expectations? I think the same again. Top three. We've got a few
:29:46. > :29:49.quality additions to the squad. Depth and strength and it's a long
:29:49. > :29:58.season. Everyone will play, so the squad will be fine. I hear you'll
:29:58. > :30:04.have to hold someone for the final? I've got to leave after half time
:30:04. > :30:09.for a family wedding, so I'm going to the church. They arrived at St
:30:09. > :30:15.Helens following two convincing wins in the British and Irish Cup, but it
:30:16. > :30:28.was a scrappy affair and a close battle of the goal kickers. The
:30:28. > :30:32.visitors never looked like losing, even though they missed out on
:30:32. > :30:42.several chances, despite being one man down. Half-time score was 6. 9
:30:42. > :30:46.and mark an is leaving due to the family wedding. Eventually a try
:30:46. > :30:54.came with the second half. Dan Hodges crossing over in the 69th
:30:54. > :30:58.minute, making it 19-6. But the try of the game came from the all-whites
:30:58. > :31:03.winger Richard Williams with just four minutes left. Not even two
:31:03. > :31:20.yellow cards and a minute could help Swansea's late comeback. I said to
:31:20. > :31:26.the guys, talking about it after a win and after a loss. You have a new
:31:26. > :31:32.recruit in morgue an. How is he fitting in? Breath of fresh air. He
:31:32. > :31:35.hasn't lost yet, so he's a lucky mascot at the moment. He brings his
:31:35. > :31:42.knowledge from the professional game and early days. In challenging
:31:42. > :31:47.conditions and after pressure, the home side's second try came when
:31:47. > :31:57.Warren powered over. A late surge recorded in Nick White's try. A
:31:57. > :32:11.round-up of Friday night's games starting with Edinburgh and the
:32:11. > :32:19.Dragons. The DaGions travelled north looking to make it two from two.
:32:19. > :32:23.Reece Thomas inherited the skipper's armband and Richie Rees lined up
:32:23. > :32:59.against their old side. Nicky Walker was making his debut for Edinburgh.
:32:59. > :33:17.That's good. DaGions take a lead early on. -- Dragons take a lead
:33:17. > :33:25.early on. Edinburgh are now into the lead. Pressure from Edinburgh in the
:33:26. > :33:32.second half. Sean Kennedy and Leonard. The fullback there. The
:33:32. > :33:55.number eight. Can he step the path? It had to come.
:33:55. > :34:26.That scrum of Edinburgh's in the ascendency for the whole of the
:34:26. > :34:31.match. This is to win it. That's good enough. In the last minute the
:34:31. > :34:35.players worked hard and put a lot of grit and showed commitment and
:34:35. > :34:39.belief. We just are not there yet. We are not sure how to close the
:34:39. > :34:45.games out. It's a big positive in terms of how disappointed we are.
:34:45. > :34:53.It's a fine line coming away with a draw and defeat. We deserved a draw.
:34:53. > :35:02.It was the first competitive match for the Blues on their new
:35:02. > :35:09.artificial pitch and for Alex Cuthbert. Connacts with the --
:35:09. > :35:31.Connact were the opponents and they were hoping to spoil the party.
:35:31. > :35:44.That's the way to use the ball. Simply and effectively.
:35:44. > :36:22.Let's have a TMO. That is a high tackle, but he was going down.
:36:22. > :36:31.Just the penalty. He was itching. Itching to get the yellow card out.
:36:31. > :36:49.The Blues have certainly picked their game up in the second half.
:36:49. > :36:56.To a man they all deserve Man of the Match. Massive effort. As a ten and
:36:56. > :37:01.when Gareth came on it was our job to keep him going forward. The other
:37:01. > :37:28.weekend's results: Good result for the Blues in
:37:28. > :37:32.terrible conditions. On the subject, plenty of speculation in the papers
:37:32. > :37:36.about Sam Warburton leaving Wales. One paper says he's on his way. He
:37:36. > :37:40.does want to stay there and hopefully that's the case. If that
:37:40. > :37:49.is the case, Jonathan, how much have they pushed him? I thought you would
:37:49. > :37:55.ask him. It's simple. I think those two lads will want to stay in Wales.
:37:55. > :38:01.Lee half penny and Sam. Ones a Cardiff boy and one is another good
:38:01. > :38:05.boy and if the package is right they would prefer to stay in Wales, but
:38:05. > :38:09.when the money is so good and if there is a threat of no Heineken
:38:09. > :38:17.Cup, well, they want to play at the best level and I think it's a job to
:38:17. > :38:21.keep them with the regions, but in keeping the Cup going and getting
:38:21. > :38:28.the quality competition, week in week out in Wales. We know the Welsh
:38:28. > :38:36.regions can't complete with the Welsh clubs, so should the WABU come
:38:36. > :38:41.in? I think we had this discussion last year. You have to pay top
:38:41. > :38:44.dollar for a player you see the least, which doesn't seem fair. It's
:38:44. > :38:48.out of their budgets and something has to be done. We have John Davies
:38:48. > :38:54.at Scarlets coming out and Lee and Sam. It's great for them. I think
:38:54. > :38:58.the boys will want to stay, but it's down to the individual. Some offers
:38:58. > :39:05.and the figures you are hearing are too good to refuse. But hopefully
:39:05. > :39:16.between the regions and the union they can come up with something. If
:39:16. > :39:20.you look at Adam, Jones Evans, Jonathan Davies and maybe Biggar,
:39:20. > :39:25.looking at the core guys and saying we are trying to supplement these
:39:25. > :39:28.ones and then maybe 1st January if you go abroad you can't play for
:39:28. > :39:33.Wales. Interesting. We'll have to leave it there. We have Extra Time
:39:33. > :39:36.to delve into this and we'll talk about the Dragons and previewing
:39:36. > :39:38.their game against the Scarlets next Friday night. We'll catch up with
:39:38. > :40:02.Rick and he went to the old parish. Some technical difficulties. We'll
:40:02. > :40:07.bring you that feature in just a few moments, but we can maybe talk about
:40:07. > :40:12.the Dragons and Scarlets. It's the feature on Friday. In Thames of the
:40:12. > :40:16.shape they're going into this -- terms of the shape they're going
:40:16. > :40:21.into it, will the Rodney Parade factor come into play? It normally
:40:21. > :40:25.does. They had a great win against ultraster. Welsh derbies are
:40:25. > :40:30.difficult to call because the boys know each other and the referee will
:40:30. > :40:36.have a big influence. Seeing the last clip, the scrum is going to be
:40:36. > :40:40.massive and at the moment I think the Scarlets' scrum is on top, so
:40:40. > :40:45.that could be the deciding factor on Friday. Why is that? You look at the
:40:45. > :40:48.Scarlets and very few people come in and the personnel hasn't changed,
:40:49. > :40:56.but all of a sudden they seemed to have fashioned this
:40:56. > :41:04.formidable-looking scrum? The new laws maybe suit them. They've played
:41:04. > :41:13.two good scrummaging sides and they've done well. I think it's
:41:13. > :41:17.interesting because if that is wrong, I don't know we haven't seen
:41:17. > :41:22.the Dragons first hand, but they've improved a hell of a lotoned it will
:41:22. > :41:26.be interesting to see how much they've improved and it will be a
:41:26. > :41:33.test, because a lot of the faithfuls will expect a good result, and
:41:33. > :41:37.performance. I do feel that the result against ultraster they'll
:41:37. > :41:41.kick the lather of it and they'll have the back row working and if
:41:41. > :41:46.they can kick five penalties they'll be happy. It will be a tactical game
:41:46. > :41:52.and give the Scarlets the ball and leave them attacking and see what
:41:52. > :41:57.happens. It's a first local regional derby and it will be interesting. At
:41:57. > :42:04.the moment, I do feel, because of the scrum, it will -- they'll be
:42:04. > :42:09.favourites. There was a lot of positivity with the appointment of
:42:09. > :42:12.Kingsley Jones and new blood there. Toby there also. Given that, how
:42:12. > :42:16.much of a statement would it be if they turned over the Scarlets in the
:42:16. > :42:22.first Welsh derby in front of the home fans? Still early days. Third
:42:22. > :42:26.game in, but I think if you said you will have five points off the first
:42:26. > :42:31.two they would have taken that. Ulster home is difficult. I know
:42:31. > :42:35.they were disappointed over the line, but it's still a valuable
:42:35. > :42:41.point. They need a back-up against the Scarlets and I think you'll find
:42:41. > :42:47.there are a lot things to come. It will be close and tense and I just
:42:47. > :42:53.agree with Jonathan that perhaps the Scarlets' fire power at the front
:42:53. > :42:57.will edge it. What about cutting-edge behind? George North
:42:57. > :43:02.and Christian Philips who started the finish is injured and they
:43:02. > :43:07.haven't got the New Zealander signing until November. We saw a
:43:07. > :43:11.glimpse of Jordan Williams and Gareth at fullback and Liam
:43:11. > :43:17.Williams. Have they got more out wide? It's very difficult to replace
:43:17. > :43:23.George North. He is a world-class athlete and he's a finisher and ball
:43:23. > :43:28.carrier and he breaks the leaBs. I don't -- lanes. I don't think
:43:28. > :43:33.they've got that, but they will take it to the line. Thank you.
:43:33. > :43:37.Apologies, as I said, for that feature, but you can see it on
:43:37. > :43:42.Extra, which is coming up straight after this programme. Go on to the
:43:42. > :43:45.website, log on and we'll be here for another half an hour to talk
:43:45. > :43:47.about all the rugby stories. From now, from the studio, it's goodbye
:43:47. > :43:48.for now.
