:00:18. > :00:28.The roof was shut. Mines were focused. And milestones were met.
:00:29. > :00:34.Wales look for their first autumn victory in four years against the
:00:35. > :00:43.Pumas. Mike Phillips. He is over halfway!
:00:44. > :00:47.That is what they needed. George North, straight through. No
:00:48. > :00:57.doubt whatsoever what the outcome was going to be.
:00:58. > :01:05.Hopefully no injuries now going into the last two games.
:01:06. > :01:08.But victory has come at a cost. The midfield has been put through a
:01:09. > :01:15.mincer. Plenty for Warren Gatland to ponder. Good evening and welcome to
:01:16. > :01:18.Scrum V. Wales return to winning ways in
:01:19. > :01:25.emphatic fashion but that injury list is growing. Jonathan Davies,
:01:26. > :01:30.Robert Jones and Lyn Jones are here to assess wales's first autumn
:01:31. > :01:31.victory in four years. But first let's remind ourselves how they did
:01:32. > :01:48.it. Immediately taken by the captain,
:01:49. > :01:56.Juan Manuel Leguizamon. And the clearing kick under pressure does
:01:57. > :02:00.not gain too much ground. Advantage, not ten metres back, so still be
:02:01. > :02:08.penalty coming for Wales. Justin Tipuric waiting. Still advantage.
:02:09. > :02:19.Mike Phillips took it quickly. Liam Williams. Is that advantage is still
:02:20. > :02:29.there for them? They are finding the half gap. A great tackle, that is.
:02:30. > :02:40.It was still advantage. A very good tackle by Nicolas Sanchez.
:02:41. > :02:48.Leigh Halfpenny and Wales band running.
:02:49. > :02:56.A little bit long but it works for Argentina. This is what the captain
:02:57. > :03:05.does so well. Argentina, their first venture into the Welsh 22.
:03:06. > :03:15.A great run by the Argentinian captain. Still they have it.
:03:16. > :03:24.That is an interception and surely it is going to be a try. There's
:03:25. > :03:26.Mike Phillips have the legs? The dummy is enough and Mike Phillips
:03:27. > :03:35.goes the length of the field to score. That is what they needed. But
:03:36. > :03:38.George North, just watch the supporting run of George North which
:03:39. > :03:42.takes both defenders away from Mike Phillips. I did not think he had the
:03:43. > :03:59.legs. Wales have it again and Williams
:04:00. > :04:08.once more sense this one low. Santiago Cordero. Wonderful stuff.
:04:09. > :04:15.Still going! This is marvellous. The support not quite there but that is
:04:16. > :04:21.magic. The ball goes loose. Did it go forward? There is still a chance
:04:22. > :04:29.here for Argentina. Dan Biggar are getting across there, just in time.
:04:30. > :04:32.What a fantastic run. A dummy kick, steps of his right and then his
:04:33. > :04:43.left. What a great run. A yellow card for Justin Tipuric who
:04:44. > :04:51.is deemed to have taken a man of the ball. A chance for Nicolas Sanchez.
:04:52. > :05:04.He plies his trade at Bordeaux. A chance here if it falls for
:05:05. > :05:09.Argentina! That was so dangerous for Wales. Three points missed could
:05:10. > :05:19.easily have been seven. Still Argentina. Wales are riding their
:05:20. > :05:32.luck at the moment. They are a man short now. An opportunity here for
:05:33. > :05:35.Argentina. Great play. A little chip through from Nicolas Sanchez but it
:05:36. > :05:50.is well shepherded into touch. And Wales have the penalty inside
:05:51. > :06:00.the Argentinian half. Yes, sealing off.
:06:01. > :06:09.He is running back, Leigh Halfpenny. He knows it is good.
:06:10. > :06:21.Mike Phillips with the kick, inviting the captain, who decides to
:06:22. > :06:29.kick this time. Here he goes! That was a great chip. Was there a
:06:30. > :06:41.knock-on? No, of the foot says the rectory. -- referee. That was great
:06:42. > :06:48.play by Juan Manuel Leguizamon. Good tackle.
:06:49. > :06:57.Still playing with a man advantage, remember. Scott Williams was rocked
:06:58. > :07:07.there as he made that tackle. They need to go wide. And so they do.
:07:08. > :07:18.Argentina need points to show for all of this. It just slows down a
:07:19. > :07:24.little bit. They are playing good football at the minute, the
:07:25. > :07:32.Argentinians. Forward say the crowd but play on says the referee.
:07:33. > :07:40.I think they will be happy with things so far. Just a few things to
:07:41. > :07:52.give Argentina chances. Straight through! George North! There is no
:07:53. > :08:09.stopping him now. In four Wales's second try. A lovely step.
:08:10. > :08:30.Wales claim there was a knock-on. Wide it comes. Joaquin Tuculet.
:08:31. > :08:38.Advantage Argentina. Wales straying offside. The chance for the first
:08:39. > :08:53.points on the board. Nicolas Sanchez gathers them up.
:08:54. > :09:02.Held at the back by Toby Faletau. Mike Phillips. He looks inside.
:09:03. > :09:11.George North had just strayed in front of him. They had both wingers
:09:12. > :09:21.on that side. This penalty will be the last action of the first half. A
:09:22. > :09:22.wonderful kick. Five from five for Leigh Halfpenny. A very impressive
:09:23. > :09:38.first half for Wales. Toby Faletau plays scrum half.
:09:39. > :09:43.Richard Hibbard. There is a forward on the wing here so if they get it
:09:44. > :09:50.wide, there is a chance. Scott Williams through the gap. George
:09:51. > :09:59.North calling for it. This could be a great try. Leigh Halfpenny is
:10:00. > :10:07.there. The space appearing. Justin Tipuric. Liam Williams. Argentina
:10:08. > :10:16.get there in numbers now. Rhodri Jones. They looked certain they were
:10:17. > :10:24.going to score there, Wales. Wide it comes. George North again. Taken
:10:25. > :10:30.down around the ankles but coming back for a Welsh penalty.
:10:31. > :10:43.It did not end in a try but it does end in three more points for Wales.
:10:44. > :10:54.That was a good drive from Argentina. Scott Williams. Liam
:10:55. > :11:02.Williams. He takes it well. Liam Williams infield to Toby Faletau. A
:11:03. > :11:07.wonderful try for Toby Faletau! That is what we like to see, Leigh
:11:08. > :11:13.Halfpenny running the channel outside 13. He has got the pace. And
:11:14. > :11:23.brilliant, brilliant support play from Toby Faletau.
:11:24. > :11:33.A penalty for Wales now. Mike Phillips takes it quickly. Here come
:11:34. > :11:41.Wales again. Support outside from Liam Williams. Back inside for Leigh
:11:42. > :11:51.Halfpenny. Still Wales come. Gethin Jenkins. Justin Tipuric.
:11:52. > :12:01.Richard Hibbard in there. Wales, Wales, is the cry. Cory Allen with
:12:02. > :12:10.the little chip. George North tries to take the ball. Ken Owens, the
:12:11. > :12:15.replacement hooker for Wales. This is a very good attacking position.
:12:16. > :12:22.Let's see if they will go for the driving line-out here.
:12:23. > :12:34.Goodbody angles. The ball at the back with Ken Owens. Let's go. They
:12:35. > :12:43.are going faster now, driving towards that line. Down they go.
:12:44. > :12:49.Another try for Wales. They will be absolutely delighted. Ken Owens that
:12:50. > :12:56.is. To score a driving line-out against Argentina, very well worked.
:12:57. > :13:06.Totally in control. Paul James. Ken Owens dropped it. It
:13:07. > :13:10.seemed to go backwards but forwards says the rectory and that will be
:13:11. > :13:20.the end of things. Wales very happy with a very handsome win. 40-6.
:13:21. > :13:24.Wales have finally got the monkey off their back, ending a run of 11
:13:25. > :13:36.or two games without a win. It was really pleasing. It was the
:13:37. > :13:40.ability and vision at times to move the ball from the 22 behind our own
:13:41. > :13:44.line and the opportunities and chances we created, those are the
:13:45. > :13:51.kinds of things we have continued to work on. I was pleased with the
:13:52. > :13:57.scrum and the line-up today. Again, it was as good as last week. You
:13:58. > :14:02.always looking for a perfect performance and there's still a few
:14:03. > :14:08.things for us to work on. It's nice to get a winner. We haven't won
:14:09. > :14:13.since the 2009 series. It is a great feeling now that we have one. A lot
:14:14. > :14:19.of hard work and now we have a decent score line behind us. I think
:14:20. > :14:23.we made a lot of mistakes. Really expensive. The Welsh players played
:14:24. > :14:37.an awesome match, as well. We gave away too much this
:14:38. > :14:41.afternoon. Sometimes it's hard to get away with some of the stuff we
:14:42. > :14:46.tried today full you always tried to play a good brand of rugby and get
:14:47. > :14:50.the board is going. I think we managed to an appellate Argentina
:14:51. > :14:54.well. We managed to take apart in the last half an hour. Those
:14:55. > :14:59.injuries, they don't get easier, do they? It looks like Allen has
:15:00. > :15:07.deserted the shoulder. Scott Williams, he has damaged his toe.
:15:08. > :15:13.Radley Davis has hurt his shoulder. We have options. If we are
:15:14. > :15:18.desperate, we can put George in there. We want to see him. We are
:15:19. > :15:21.short on centres and wingers, so we may need to get some people in the
:15:22. > :15:24.week. We will talk about the injury crisis at the moment but we had
:15:25. > :15:29.Gethin Jenkins say they took Argentina apart in the second half.
:15:30. > :15:32.Warren Gatland said Wales had been guilty in the past of dropping down
:15:33. > :15:38.to the opposition babble. Was that more of a ruthless Wales yesterday?
:15:39. > :15:46.Yes, but you have got to take the opposition into account. They were
:15:47. > :15:52.not South Africa. Argentina RNA situation of transition. A new
:15:53. > :15:58.coach. That are in a. Wales went out there and do the job. They went out
:15:59. > :16:03.from the word go they had control. Control of the ball, defensively,
:16:04. > :16:09.very, very good. I think it was the workrate of most players. The work
:16:10. > :16:13.off the ball was fantastic. To get four tries and to dominate the
:16:14. > :16:18.second half, and to prevent Argentina from scoring was massive.
:16:19. > :16:24.I disagree. Argentina are a very good side and they do played to a
:16:25. > :16:26.high standard. That was a record score for Wales against Argentina.
:16:27. > :16:31.We've always struggled against them since day one. I thought it was an
:16:32. > :16:34.excellent performance from Wales. From start to finish. Full of
:16:35. > :16:40.positives. They must have delighted. Everything they tried
:16:41. > :16:47.came off. It was one of those days for Wales and they played really
:16:48. > :16:50.well. I'm sure they will play a lot worse than that and lose in the
:16:51. > :16:54.future but everything went right for Wales on the day and you have just
:16:55. > :16:56.got to take those big trees when they come. Argentina are full of
:16:57. > :17:02.good players but nothing went right for them. Maybe because we were
:17:03. > :17:09.sharp in defence, maybe a bit of everything, but that was a really
:17:10. > :17:14.good performance from Wales. Jonathan, I know you spoke to Warren
:17:15. > :17:18.Gatland about the aspect he wanted to improve on after South Africa.
:17:19. > :17:26.What were they? They matched South Africa physically and they wanted to
:17:27. > :17:31.work on the 1% of their game. They had opportunities to score 50 plus
:17:32. > :17:38.yesterday. The aerial game, I think that was a lot better. They kicked
:17:39. > :17:43.and chased better. This is a lovely kick into the corner. You can get
:17:44. > :17:48.the ball back onto the halfway line. They don't give him time whatsoever.
:17:49. > :17:54.Great chasing. They scramble across the field. They make a tackle. And,
:17:55. > :17:59.all of a sudden, they are in the 22 and get the ball back, which was
:18:00. > :18:03.great. The other thing was, a couple of breaks against South Africa, they
:18:04. > :18:07.didn't bust a gut. They gave up on the inside and outside support but
:18:08. > :18:15.that could have been a try scoring opportunity. Yesterday, every break,
:18:16. > :18:19.they chased and supported inside and out.
:18:20. > :18:34.This was a lovely chap. Watch the inside support runners. Options on
:18:35. > :18:36.both sides. -- clip. The only downside of this, they should've
:18:37. > :18:44.scored in that situation. This is brilliant. Scott Williams, look at
:18:45. > :18:48.this. Four forwards on their feet. The cuts them to pieces. George
:18:49. > :18:54.comes on the inside, maybe should've stayed on the outside. Watch the
:18:55. > :19:00.other two on the touchline. They get a pass away. The ball goes one pass
:19:01. > :19:07.a game, they scored but, unfortunately, they don't score, so
:19:08. > :19:12.they said they were going to work on that and they certainly showed that.
:19:13. > :19:18.I think the next 1% is when they do school, after the New Zealand game,
:19:19. > :19:24.I think the last example is the Faletau try. The scrum is under
:19:25. > :19:30.pressure. Straight out and Faletau is away. Allen fixes that guy and
:19:31. > :19:36.take the eyeliner of the outside centre which causes the winger to
:19:37. > :19:41.come in which I like to see. A good defence by Liam Williams. Faletau
:19:42. > :19:44.was brilliant yesterday, man of the match. It could've been Mike
:19:45. > :19:50.Phillips, Scott Williams, George North. Pickering man of the match
:19:51. > :19:56.was virtually impossible, but it's nice to be in that position that
:19:57. > :20:03.picking a man. It was a great performance. You saw yesterday, with
:20:04. > :20:07.the making breaks against Australia, they didn't finish off on
:20:08. > :20:12.the inside. Wales are creating, off-loading opportunities. At least
:20:13. > :20:18.they are creating and it's only a matter of time before things take
:20:19. > :20:20.off. Shaun Edwards was beaming in the press conference yesterday
:20:21. > :20:25.because they did not concede a single try in the game. It was a
:20:26. > :20:35.ruthless defensive effort yesterday. Since Warren came in, he wanted to
:20:36. > :20:38.improve the defence. 13 ospreys to play against England, because they
:20:39. > :20:43.wanted to bolster defence and the ospreys created that for them. A
:20:44. > :20:50.couple of things I picked up on yesterday. In the centre, you have
:20:51. > :20:55.players who are used to blitz defence. They push up here but then
:20:56. > :21:01.Liam Williams, three metres behind where he should be. But they are
:21:02. > :21:02.experienced the two make Argentina recycle and go through another
:21:03. > :21:12.phase. George North going back, releases
:21:13. > :21:17.11, to push up. Liam is waiting for Halfpenny to come across. He needs
:21:18. > :21:31.to come across behind the defensive line. Book. Fantastic. He can take a
:21:32. > :21:35.or B depending on the pass. Great defensive work. It took about 12
:21:36. > :21:42.months. We have George North doing exactly the same. They should
:21:43. > :21:46.release Liam Williams to push up. Now we have two forwards on the
:21:47. > :21:51.outside and a bit of lift. Not sure what to do. You can't allow them to
:21:52. > :21:57.play out there because they will eat you up and we all know what happened
:21:58. > :22:14.next. Scoring a try at the death to women. -- to win.
:22:15. > :22:24.Ashley back and James Beck should start the next game. We have to get
:22:25. > :22:28.the Australian game in perspective. Huge game, southern hemisphere
:22:29. > :22:36.scalp. We have to try to get a combination there. James Hook could
:22:37. > :22:42.start at 15. Do I pick a strong team to carry on the momentum to go into
:22:43. > :22:47.the game? Do I risk injuries? Do I take experience? Do I rest my key
:22:48. > :22:52.players? The centre and the wing are two areas of concern at the moment.
:22:53. > :22:56.We don't have the numbers. Williams is back fit. A number of options but
:22:57. > :23:02.I think we have to look ahead and James Hoch is a problem. There one
:23:03. > :23:06.centre playing the bar for the moment who everybody forgets about.
:23:07. > :23:17.It all depends on their selection policy. Do they rest Scott Williams
:23:18. > :23:24.or play him? Do you play Williams? James at ten? Here's such a great
:23:25. > :23:30.utility player. Do you play him the centre because of injuries? They
:23:31. > :23:34.haven't got the strength and depth over other nations unfortunately. We
:23:35. > :23:38.are talking about how good it is the youngsters are coming through, but
:23:39. > :23:44.we haven't got strength and depth. It would be dangerous to throw in
:23:45. > :23:49.these boys. If you put into centre, Biggar is a liar who wants to play
:23:50. > :23:58.every week and he gets better when he plays every week. -- he is a
:23:59. > :24:04.player. It's the toughest position of all, defence. You don't know
:24:05. > :24:11.what's around you. You have to trust everybody around you, inside and
:24:12. > :24:19.outside. Who was going to play against Australia? They need to be
:24:20. > :24:23.put in against Tonga. They need to have the ability to make mistakes
:24:24. > :24:31.against Tonga. I'm focusing on the defensive side. We need to shut them
:24:32. > :24:36.down. We will go into this after the programme. There were numerous
:24:37. > :24:44.candidates for man of the match but we must mention Gethin Jenkins, his
:24:45. > :24:50.100 cap. He really is one of the all-time bests. He does his work at
:24:51. > :24:54.scrum time but his work ethic on the field, he's one of the fittest guys
:24:55. > :24:59.in the squad. We have seen it constantly at the breakdown, he is
:25:00. > :25:04.constantly there charging down kicks. Offering himself as a
:25:05. > :25:11.ball-carrier. There's public affair bit left in him. He will keep going.
:25:12. > :25:16.He will probably break the record. And maybe even cracked a smile for
:25:17. > :25:19.something large and too Gethin Jenkins. Let's move on to the other
:25:20. > :25:23.international is over the weekend starting with England against New
:25:24. > :25:27.Zealand. New Zealand went to Twickenham looking for revenge after
:25:28. > :25:30.their defeat last year and were celebrating dan Carter's 100th cap
:25:31. > :25:37.and the all Blacks got off to a flying start.
:25:38. > :25:52.Here is the early chance. The early score, as well. Read, a lot of
:25:53. > :25:58.action early on. A good ball-carrier for England. Franks to the rescue
:25:59. > :26:06.for England. The tackle still had to be made. Here is Read. He is over
:26:07. > :26:13.for New Zealand's second try of the game. England regrouped. A little
:26:14. > :26:28.bit scrappy. The ball is on the floor and now it is down and over
:26:29. > :26:32.the line. A try for England. Farrell kicked 17 points and, with this,
:26:33. > :26:41.England took the lead. England lead New Zealand. But the visitors came
:26:42. > :26:48.back and Savea's second try gave them a hard-fought victory. Nonu
:26:49. > :26:52.thought about going himself. Here comes Savea. Has he got another one
:26:53. > :27:02.here? Yes, he has. New Zealand get the try. They found it tough going
:27:03. > :27:09.against insurgent Australia. Moore. A good angle by the Hawk-eye, get
:27:10. > :27:18.the pass away. A brilliant try. -- by the hooker. Another good pass
:27:19. > :27:27.from the hooker. Australia with numbers outside. Farley breaks free.
:27:28. > :27:29.You get the pass infield. The hooker from the back row scores Australia's
:27:30. > :27:43.second try. Quade Cooper, clean through. Set
:27:44. > :27:50.piece try. Quade Cooper. In a change of style, Australia's forthright
:27:51. > :28:01.came from Moore. His second of the match. The Australian centre was red
:28:02. > :28:03.carded for this tackle. But even with a one-man advantage, Ireland
:28:04. > :28:11.couldn't break through and the coach was left annoyed. Last week Scotland
:28:12. > :28:16.have a comfortable win against Japan but South Africa was a tougher
:28:17. > :28:22.challenge. Going for the defensive shot. And easy score to the
:28:23. > :28:28.line-out. He scored a try. It is given. Under pressure for most of
:28:29. > :28:32.the first half, Scotland were coming back into the match when the
:28:33. > :28:43.Springboks struck twice in quick succession. He is away. Nobody is
:28:44. > :28:44.going to catch him. An interception gives them a try against South
:28:45. > :29:04.Africa. Two men in front of him. La Roux. He
:29:05. > :29:07.doesn't get there. He will score! And, as the rain fell in the second
:29:08. > :29:15.half, South Africa went back to full strength.
:29:16. > :29:23.Carbon copy, once again, over the line. The try is given.
:29:24. > :29:29.A convincing win for South Africa over Scotland. To what extent is
:29:30. > :29:35.that what the result against Wales into perspective? It was a great
:29:36. > :29:40.performance by Wales last week but those 1% did not come through and
:29:41. > :29:45.that is why they lost. They took their chances and we did not. They
:29:46. > :29:52.are clearly the second-best team in the world. I just feel the two
:29:53. > :29:58.rolling mauls were far too simple. And Australia are never down for
:29:59. > :30:04.long, are they? They look to be improving. They are getting better.
:30:05. > :30:09.What they had yesterday for the first time in years was a scrum.
:30:10. > :30:16.Ewan McKenzie will have focused on that, knowing it is important to be
:30:17. > :30:18.the top opposition. Again, just watching the game, it is
:30:19. > :30:22.highlighting the fact that Australia, South Africa and New
:30:23. > :30:28.Zealand play rugby in the contact area. They can off-load, they can
:30:29. > :30:34.path. In the northern hemisphere, we played this side of the defensive
:30:35. > :30:42.line. You have got to put pressure on these top teams. England do it.
:30:43. > :30:48.They got the tactics right. That will be the difference. Yesterday,
:30:49. > :30:57.that's all they did, once they got any faceplate, they put it wide and
:30:58. > :31:06.they just fell through the defensive line. And then they got the off-load
:31:07. > :31:09.away. But Wales play an aggressive blitz defence so it will be
:31:10. > :31:16.interesting to see how they try to work that out. Everybody is saying
:31:17. > :31:20.Wales against Australia, it is an easy win. It is never an easy win
:31:21. > :31:25.against Australia. By the end of this tour they will have put their
:31:26. > :31:30.house in order. The scrum is now looking solid and they are always
:31:31. > :31:36.going to be dangerous. They are smart, intelligent players. Before
:31:37. > :31:42.Wales face the Wallabies, they will have the Tongans to play with. They
:31:43. > :31:46.may be a raft of changes for that game but what Heaven happens to Toby
:31:47. > :31:51.Faletau, it is sure to be a special occasion.
:31:52. > :31:55.Dynamic, skilful, strong and quick. Toby Faletau is fast becoming one of
:31:56. > :31:59.the best number eight in world rugby. His rise to the top has been
:32:00. > :32:05.meteoric and the journey there a little bit different from most. Born
:32:06. > :32:09.in Tonga in 1990, he lived until he was seven surrounded by palm trees,
:32:10. > :32:15.beaches and turquoise lagoons but when the Tongan national side toured
:32:16. > :32:20.Wales in 1997, a squad which included his dad, that is when fate
:32:21. > :32:27.intervened. The coach of that side was the father of Wales flanker
:32:28. > :32:31.Kingsley Jones. I was nagging my dad to try and help us out with a couple
:32:32. > :32:41.of Tongans, particularly second row and fullback. He arrived from Tonga.
:32:42. > :32:48.He was a big hit and a favourite at the club. After the first year,
:32:49. > :32:56.because the people in Ebbw Vale are so friendly and I feel at home,
:32:57. > :33:07.after two weeks, I feel I can carry on playing so I got back and told my
:33:08. > :33:11.wife and kids to come over. My earliest memories are coming down
:33:12. > :33:16.from training and seeing these two young Tongan lads hanging onto the
:33:17. > :33:23.roof of the clubhouse, jumping on the roof of your car, just typical
:33:24. > :33:27.young lads. And while Toby was familiarising himself with his new
:33:28. > :33:30.environment, his new friends were trying to familiarise themselves
:33:31. > :33:40.with the Tongan language, but struggling. When we first came over
:33:41. > :33:47.to Ebbw Vale, they went to school. They could not say his name so he
:33:48. > :33:59.just said, call me Toby. He wasted no time in following in his
:34:00. > :34:08.father's footsteps. This is Billy Vunipola with Kobe. Our mothers are
:34:09. > :34:13.distant relatives but we call ourselves cousins now. We pretty
:34:14. > :34:20.much grew up together checking a ball around, playing rugby. We never
:34:21. > :34:35.thought we would be on the Lions tour together. The brothers
:34:36. > :34:38.ultimately chose England over Wales. Although Toby Faletau played youth
:34:39. > :34:44.rugby over the border, there was never any danger of him trading the
:34:45. > :34:53.three feathers for the red rose. Not at all. He went to play at the
:34:54. > :35:00.Bristol Academy but I already told him, if you are good enough, you
:35:01. > :35:05.have to come back and play in Wales. The reality was he was more than
:35:06. > :35:08.good enough. A succession of barnstorming performances for the
:35:09. > :35:18.Dragons saw him named in the Wales under 20 squad. And while he was
:35:19. > :35:25.still a teenager, his profile, along with his Afro, was expanding
:35:26. > :35:31.rapidly. I still see this young lad starting to change. But the first
:35:32. > :35:35.few weeks training with him, it is really strange because I still see
:35:36. > :35:41.him as this young lad. Despite the growing attention, he remained
:35:42. > :35:47.grounded. His Tongan heritage and strong family values meant he never
:35:48. > :35:54.allowed his success go to his head. He was given a club car. The
:35:55. > :35:58.following day, he turns up in the old banger again. The reason was
:35:59. > :36:04.that he had given his car to his father to travel around in. That is
:36:05. > :36:09.not a surprise to me. That is family values that happens in Tonga. For
:36:10. > :36:14.most observers it was only a matter of time before the he ran out at the
:36:15. > :36:25.Millennium Stadium for his first full Welsh cap and he did so in
:36:26. > :36:28.2011. I tell him, now you are not a Tongan any more, this is your
:36:29. > :36:49.country. You have to die for your country. I was crying. To me, I told
:36:50. > :36:53.them, I was crying... He is a very quiet guy off the field and I
:36:54. > :36:55.suppose when he started in the international seal that was a big
:36:56. > :37:05.problem because he never said a word. But now he just does stuff and
:37:06. > :37:10.you think, I am glad is on my team. He is probably the most modest guy I
:37:11. > :37:16.have ever met and I tell him to wind him up. I honestly believe he is up
:37:17. > :37:20.there with the best number eight in world rugby. Up there with Kieran
:37:21. > :37:27.Read. But you can't accept a con -- compliment. Kieran Read is the best
:37:28. > :37:34.number eight in the world, in my opinion anyway. He likes things to
:37:35. > :37:39.go right. He likes players to be accurate and skill levels to be
:37:40. > :37:44.there. And I think we are lucky to have him at the moment. Hopefully he
:37:45. > :37:50.will continue to improve. I don't think we have seen the best of him
:37:51. > :37:54.yet. And if his best years are ahead of him, his next three at least will
:37:55. > :38:01.be in Wales. Despite the lure of big money abroad, he has decided to stay
:38:02. > :38:04.in Wales. We talked over the options and we both thought it was the best
:38:05. > :38:10.thing to stick around for another couple of years and see what happens
:38:11. > :38:15.after that. Sometimes you have to stay where you are. But don't
:38:16. > :38:20.forget, this is the club that gave you the chance to express yourself
:38:21. > :38:29.and you have a chance to play for Wales. Don't go with the money. A
:38:30. > :38:34.lot of people may be surprised he's decided to stay in Wales with the
:38:35. > :38:39.Dragons but it speaks volumes to his father and the family values and I
:38:40. > :38:43.wish more people would look at that. I think a lot of people out there
:38:44. > :38:47.would love to get their hands on Toby Faletau but he has committed
:38:48. > :38:53.himself and I think that needs to be recognised and rewarded as well. I
:38:54. > :38:57.was talking to someone earlier today saying I still sometimes reflect on
:38:58. > :39:02.where I am and a couple of years back I never thought I would be in
:39:03. > :39:06.this position at all. I am so thankful and grateful for this.
:39:07. > :39:17.A wonderful try for Toby Faletau! It was nice of him to put in a Man
:39:18. > :39:25.of the Match performance the week we decided to run a feature on him. A
:39:26. > :39:28.really modest bloke. As we saw in that feature, it goes to show that
:39:29. > :39:34.money is not the only factor when it comes to making these decisions. He
:39:35. > :39:41.is very popular with the players at the Dragons. He enjoys his rugby and
:39:42. > :39:46.he has freedom to do what he likes. I like his warm up. He runs around
:39:47. > :39:50.the field just kicking the ball in the air and catching it. All the
:39:51. > :39:56.sort of things you do when you are very young. He practices his
:39:57. > :40:04.goal-kicking is well like all good number eight. His game has come on a
:40:05. > :40:12.lot in the last two months! With Kingsley Jones! He is a great player
:40:13. > :40:19.but he is a great footballer. He does the right things at the right
:40:20. > :40:25.time. The passing, the support play. His values come from his family, in
:40:26. > :40:30.terms of the loyalty. There are a lot of good rugby players in Tonga
:40:31. > :40:33.so he has got the perfect balance. He has got lots of good attributes
:40:34. > :40:44.but he has got some weaknesses as well. I am sure you will put that
:40:45. > :40:49.right. He has got lots to come in his game. He can still be a great
:40:50. > :40:54.player. I just want to talk about next week
:40:55. > :40:58.now. What sort of team Warren Gatland should pick. Whether he
:40:59. > :41:02.should go full strength and build a bit of momentum. Given the injury
:41:03. > :41:10.situation, do you think you should pick a second string? The first
:41:11. > :41:12.thing is, they need to win. That is the first thing because
:41:13. > :41:17.international rugby, you are judged by results. It is always going to be
:41:18. > :41:23.one of those banana skins, purely down to the injuries. If we are
:41:24. > :41:27.anywhere near our full strength, we would be Tonga quite comfortably.
:41:28. > :41:33.But with injuries, there is an element of doubt. Whoever he picks,
:41:34. > :41:42.the forwards will be too strong for Tonga. Again, it is whether they
:41:43. > :41:47.save players for the big one at the end. We will have to wait and see.
:41:48. > :41:53.Selection is very personal to the coaches and it depends on how they
:41:54. > :41:56.see it. You could look at it and say there are seven or eight key players
:41:57. > :42:04.that we really want to be there for Australia. If you look back 12
:42:05. > :42:06.months ago to the Six Nations, Luke Charteris and Andrew Coombs were
:42:07. > :42:13.representing Wales and doing a really good job as well. If Alun Wyn
:42:14. > :42:18.Jones doesn't play and Bradley does not play, we have got two good
:42:19. > :42:23.second row players coming in. If you look at New Zealand, they have got
:42:24. > :42:26.30 international quality players. We have got to increase our pool of
:42:27. > :42:33.players if we are going to challenge. I think they will rest
:42:34. > :42:37.some key players. Scott Williams has got an injury, I don't think they
:42:38. > :42:41.will whisk him. Bradley Davies has got a shoulder problem, I don't
:42:42. > :42:50.think they will whisk him. But Ryan Jones has experience. If anything
:42:51. > :42:55.happens again Mike Phillips, we need Lloyd Williams to stepping so he
:42:56. > :43:06.needs some rugby. We will keep this chat going on
:43:07. > :43:10.Scrum V Extra Time. It is Tonga next up. We don't know whether Toby
:43:11. > :43:15.Faletau will be picked to play against the land of his fathers but
:43:16. > :43:17.if he does play and he does score, he won't be celebrating. It is not
:43:18. > :43:29.his style. I just don't see the point in
:43:30. > :43:34.jumping up and down. You could end up losing the game so you don't want
:43:35. > :43:39.to celebrate. I guess it is not in my nature.
:43:40. > :44:35.So simple, so effective. Thousands of people pass it
:44:36. > :44:41.every day, unaware it even exists - For 50 years, this white stone
:44:42. > :44:49.plaque has marked the weekend President John F Kennedy visited
:44:50. > :44:54.the Sussex village of Forest Row for a political summit
:44:55. > :44:59.at the height of the Cold War.
