:00:19. > :00:27.On Scrum V tonight, the unbeaten Ospreys march on against Munster.

:00:28. > :00:32.The Blues are down in Dublin. Elsewhere, the Scarlets return to

:00:33. > :00:41.storm Edinburgh's fortress. While the Dragons attempts to rouse from

:00:42. > :00:45.their slumber. And we beat the Kiwi who has taken

:00:46. > :00:50.charge down West. What I have seen so far is it massive amount of

:00:51. > :00:54.passion, more so than the region I have come from.

:00:55. > :00:59.Good evening and welcome to another bumper edition of Scrum V. We will

:01:00. > :01:05.be getting to grips with the action from run for the Pro12. I'm joined

:01:06. > :01:09.by guests and we will be having the rest of the week 's news.

:01:10. > :01:14.I will be joined by World Cup winner and head of rugby at the WRU, Josh

:01:15. > :01:21.Lewsey, to discuss his plans about rejuvenating grass-roots rugby.

:01:22. > :01:22.All that to come. We kick off with the match between Munster and the

:01:23. > :01:32.Ospreys. Eli Walker was back on the wing for

:01:33. > :01:37.the Ospreys while Dan Biggar was making his fourth consecutive start.

:01:38. > :01:41.He will fly-half was hoping to maintain his 90% goal-kicking record

:01:42. > :01:48.at a ground where Ospreys victories over Munster have always been slim.

:01:49. > :01:55.Murray takes a slightly wider attack, just beneath the posts. Ian

:01:56. > :01:59.Keatley is not needed. A pick and drive from the forwards. It is about

:02:00. > :02:07.composure for both teams. Another little dink. A short ball. Through

:02:08. > :02:25.Ian Keatley, wide ball across the line and that will be the opening

:02:26. > :02:28.try for panda you are -- van der Heerwe. Possibly only a metre of go

:02:29. > :02:34.forward. Dan Biggar. A good offload to Justin

:02:35. > :02:40.Tipuric. Jeff Hassler will go over in the corner and that is down in no

:02:41. > :02:48.small part to the footballing ability of Justin Tipuric.

:02:49. > :02:54.And it is slowly, slowly from the Ospreys. Looking to make hard yards

:02:55. > :02:59.up the middle. Dan Biggar, what can he do? Looks for Jeff Hassler. You

:03:00. > :03:08.called it earlier. The block. Unlucky for the Ospreys.

:03:09. > :03:21.The referee was right on the spot. Destruction. -- obstruction. There

:03:22. > :03:24.is the ill discipline I talked about.

:03:25. > :03:30.There is no need to take the man in the air. It is as clear as day.

:03:31. > :03:51.Marie, game, and a great pressure from Rhys Webb. Van der Heerwe Takes

:03:52. > :03:56.it forward and clears up from the scrum-half.

:03:57. > :04:06.He wasn't involved. Went straight through the ball.

:04:07. > :04:12.Kevin Morgan is looking on in the background. And normal service is

:04:13. > :04:30.resumed from Batman. -- from that O'Donoghue. Certainly on the front

:04:31. > :04:36.foot now. This time there is a big hit but he stands to hold the ball.

:04:37. > :04:41.All hands to the pump for the Ospreys. The line is in sight. And

:04:42. > :04:49.the have their tails up. The prop takes it on. The ball is turned

:04:50. > :04:56.over. A shrill blast on the whistle from the referee.

:04:57. > :05:04.19 red. Two metres short. Over the 80

:05:05. > :05:10.minutes. Surely, a try now would ruin it for the Ospreys. It's Jordi

:05:11. > :05:14.Murphy. He picks up. The Ospreys try desperately hard.

:05:15. > :05:21.He has knocked it on. 80 minutes are up on the clock. The

:05:22. > :05:27.referee looks at his watch. That's full-time. A famous victory for the

:05:28. > :05:31.Ospreys. It was a young squad we've got and

:05:32. > :05:36.we are making no excuses but the way the boys toughed it out, the driving

:05:37. > :05:41.line-out was superb. For us to come away with a win is what pleases us

:05:42. > :05:44.most. Hopefully that is a big starts to build on.

:05:45. > :05:48.Dan Biggar is keeping his feet on the ground but a lot of people wrote

:05:49. > :05:56.the Ospreys off before the start of the season because they lost four

:05:57. > :05:59.clients. The jury is out after three victories over inferior opposition

:06:00. > :06:03.but that was stunning last night. They wanted to be judged within a

:06:04. > :06:07.month and the month came after this game so that was the yardstick. I

:06:08. > :06:10.don't know if we were writing them off but we didn't know what to

:06:11. > :06:13.expect because they had lost so many players and there were so many

:06:14. > :06:24.youngsters coming through. Also as an osprey, you are expected to win.

:06:25. > :06:28.The youngsters have started to take leadership. As a team performance, I

:06:29. > :06:31.think they will be extremely happy with going there and the resilience

:06:32. > :06:37.they showed at the end to grind it out.

:06:38. > :06:41.They have lost all those leaders but Dan Biggar has really stepped up.

:06:42. > :06:45.His partnership with Rhys Webb yesterday, they controlled the game

:06:46. > :06:47.masterfully and effectively kept Munster out.

:06:48. > :06:53.The key word there is a partnership. They have got a fantastic

:06:54. > :06:57.understanding of each other's game. Dan Biggar was attacking the line a

:06:58. > :07:02.lot and just the ability of the likes of Rhys Webb to find support

:07:03. > :07:06.inside. Again, he is great and the high ball, Dan Biggar. He is

:07:07. > :07:12.constantly up, making things happen. Rhys Webb back in the action.

:07:13. > :07:18.Throughout the game yesterday there was total control in their

:07:19. > :07:24.performance. They had a powerful platform. He really has stepped up

:07:25. > :07:30.to the mark. He bosses the forwards and calls the shots, making things

:07:31. > :07:34.happen. When it comes to where you want to play territorially, there is

:07:35. > :07:38.no one better in Wales than Dan Biggar at the moment than making

:07:39. > :07:43.sure the forwards get up from scrums and rucks and find themselves

:07:44. > :07:49.downfield. That was evidence. As a partnership moving forward, there

:07:50. > :07:52.are no to better players in Wales. Are we looking at the Wales

:07:53. > :07:55.half-back partnership? You have got to look at

:07:56. > :08:03.partnerships. If you go with Gareth Davies may be you go with Priestland

:08:04. > :08:09.or Rhys Webb and Dan Biggar. That is up to Warren Gatland. The Ospreys

:08:10. > :08:12.boys are playing better as a unit. People are saying their stars have

:08:13. > :08:18.gone but they have a good backbone in the Ospreys and the front row is

:08:19. > :08:26.strong. Alun Wyn Jones, of course. Good defenders. The halfbacks are

:08:27. > :08:30.solid and the game management is exceptional. Maybe there is a lack

:08:31. > :08:36.of creativity but they had a chance yesterday and they took it. Dan

:08:37. > :08:41.Evans is also safe. I love their attitude. It is a throwback to my

:08:42. > :08:45.days at Neath because everybody hated us but we don't care. It

:08:46. > :08:50.showed in their defence. If you go to muster you have to defend well.

:08:51. > :08:54.Watch the line speed because it is quick but also they have the

:08:55. > :08:59.confidence to spot and come out of the line. When you do that, they

:09:00. > :09:04.fill in behind. He makes the tackle but then the umbrella defence,

:09:05. > :09:09.Andrew Bishop is up there. They are still pushing and putting them under

:09:10. > :09:12.pressure. Aggressive defence. Here we are again. They are well

:09:13. > :09:18.organised and they don't put many people on the ground. Munster were

:09:19. > :09:22.laying very deep, which played into the Ospreys hands. Aggressive

:09:23. > :09:28.defence, not committing many men to the ruck. They varied the defence as

:09:29. > :09:34.well. That was the most pleasing aspect for me. They couldn't work

:09:35. > :09:36.them out. It all comes down to execution because you can do

:09:37. > :09:40.everything in training but execution and attitude. They didn't do many

:09:41. > :09:46.errors yesterday and they didn't miss... There was a bit of a

:09:47. > :09:52.discipline but I think it was a tremendous performance with dreadful

:09:53. > :09:55.weather. I think they have been very solid and a great attitude is the

:09:56. > :10:01.key for me. The defence throughout was

:10:02. > :10:05.impeccable but that rear guide? Guard action when Munster were

:10:06. > :10:10.laying siege to the line, did I give you an idea of the character of the

:10:11. > :10:14.squad? It says a lot when you can defend

:10:15. > :10:18.your own line in the 80th minute and you are defending as strong as you

:10:19. > :10:23.would. With the enthusiasm as well. Not just because it was an outcome

:10:24. > :10:27.of the result but they backed each other. One would come out of the

:10:28. > :10:31.line and the other would back him. The resilience they showed. They

:10:32. > :10:35.were picking each other up off the floor when they made good tackles.

:10:36. > :10:41.To know that your team-mate is there with you means that you attack

:10:42. > :10:45.things at 100%. We have to leave it there. Let's

:10:46. > :10:48.turn our attention to the Scarlets and they travelled to Edinburgh with

:10:49. > :10:57.confidence after they beat Treviso last week.

:10:58. > :11:03.The captain Ken Owens was ruled out for 12 weeks with a neck injury

:11:04. > :11:09.before the game. Gareth Davies was ruled out with concussion and there

:11:10. > :11:15.was a return to action for Samson Lee, thrust back in after serving a

:11:16. > :11:20.suspension for a head-butt. Conditions are great this evening

:11:21. > :11:24.and as we have already heard, the Scarlets are in good try scoring

:11:25. > :11:30.form this season and already have a chance to attack immediately.

:11:31. > :11:38.Gareth Owen is looking for space behind and that is the dink through.

:11:39. > :11:42.Harry Robinson thinks he may have got through. The Scarlets may have

:11:43. > :11:46.struck as early as 40 seconds into the game. Harry Robinson diving onto

:11:47. > :11:55.a loose ball and it looks as though he has got the try. Yes, try has

:11:56. > :12:05.been given. The referee says yes. What a start for the Scarlets!

:12:06. > :12:17.Atkins puts in the tackle. A deep pass. Gareth Owen. Add to Liam

:12:18. > :12:20.Williams. He checks back inside but loses the ball as he hits the gap

:12:21. > :12:39.with the try line at his mercy. This time Scott Williams just take

:12:40. > :12:43.the hit and again, the Scarlets complaining that bodies are lying

:12:44. > :12:47.over the ball. They can quickly by Aled Davies who almost breaks free.

:12:48. > :12:53.A pop-up pass and Liam Williams gets the try this time. It has been a

:12:54. > :12:56.long time coming but quick thinking from Aled Davies and great support

:12:57. > :13:06.from Liam Williams gives the Scarlets full back their second try.

:13:07. > :13:16.The crowd finally getting something to cheer about. A great offload.

:13:17. > :13:18.Just short of the try line. Cuthbert. Desperate tackling from

:13:19. > :13:24.the Scarlets but they have got men on the far side and it is a walk-in

:13:25. > :13:37.for Tim Visser. Edinburgh strike back just before half-time.

:13:38. > :13:42.Kennedy once more forwards and the team obliges. Kennedy arrives and

:13:43. > :13:48.pops it up. And Phil Burleigh barges his way over.

:13:49. > :13:54.We should have come away with more points. We were happy with a man

:13:55. > :13:58.down just to get two points in the last few minutes and to tap and go

:13:59. > :14:03.it was a little bit disorganised. A poor decision.

:14:04. > :14:09.Just to clear that up, that came from an field, not on high, that

:14:10. > :14:14.decision to keep the game? We were ready to take a couple of

:14:15. > :14:19.points and we were disappointed we had 14 men out on our feet. A little

:14:20. > :14:25.bit disorganised. A lot of the senior players were off the field.

:14:26. > :14:30.That was inexperienced. Wayne Pivack was not happy with the decision made

:14:31. > :14:36.on the field in the dying seconds. I asked this to Phil Davies, was that

:14:37. > :14:41.raised or for Harvey -- brave or foolhardy?

:14:42. > :14:44.You have got to assess how your players are. If you have got

:14:45. > :14:50.forwards willing to carry the ball, then you have an opportunity to

:14:51. > :14:55.kick, then yes. If you click then you get the draw. They should have

:14:56. > :15:00.put the game away. They blew it and they should have won it. The same

:15:01. > :15:05.against Ulster. They are in a controlling position to win and they

:15:06. > :15:08.don't. That could cost them. Twice they have had a commanding

:15:09. > :15:13.lead against Ulster and then an Edinburgh. Twice they have fallen

:15:14. > :15:15.away in the second half or at least the last quarter.

:15:16. > :15:19.Why is that happening? Is an issue they have got to address because a

:15:20. > :15:24.lot of people are talking about the Scarlets as the Welsh side of the

:15:25. > :15:27.season because they have got talented players and they have

:15:28. > :15:32.always had a strong set piece but this year you can see it creaking a

:15:33. > :15:35.little. The scrum isn't so powerful. They haven't got the

:15:36. > :15:39.platform they had in the past but I think there is a concern because you

:15:40. > :15:45.can't afford to throw away leads like they have done. I think Wayne

:15:46. > :15:49.Pivack will be addressing that. Gareth, I suppose it is the opposite

:15:50. > :15:53.of the Ospreys because they seem to galvanise in the last ten minutes

:15:54. > :15:57.when the pressure is on. The Scarlets seem to fall away in the

:15:58. > :16:00.last 20. I think it is game management

:16:01. > :16:05.because you pay it differently in regards to the scoreboard. If you

:16:06. > :16:09.are up and away from home then you play completely differently. You use

:16:10. > :16:14.your Number ten and play in your heart. Sometimes they can get

:16:15. > :16:19.reckless when there is no need. Thanks. It is sure to be a big week

:16:20. > :16:25.for the Scarlets and Wayne Pivack. We caught up with him to see how he

:16:26. > :16:30.is settling in as head coach. Every single one of you, think about

:16:31. > :16:36.it, think about it. You belong to something unique and

:16:37. > :16:41.that is Llanelli rugby club. Things are a little different down West and

:16:42. > :16:44.this is heart and soul rugby country.

:16:45. > :16:47.Rugby courses through the veins here and the new man is under no

:16:48. > :16:51.illusions about the strength of feeling among the fans.

:16:52. > :16:56.What I have seen so far is a massive amount of passion, more so than the

:16:57. > :17:00.region I have come from. The man in the street is so knowledgeable, so

:17:01. > :17:05.passionate and keen to talk to you about the team, players. I don't

:17:06. > :17:10.mind that. It just tells me how passionate the community is about

:17:11. > :17:14.the team and the team doing well. That motivates me to do the best I

:17:15. > :17:18.can to get the players to perform on a Saturday.

:17:19. > :17:23.The last time Wayne Pivack was here he was in charge of Fiji and coach

:17:24. > :17:30.them to within two points of a famous victory against Wales. He

:17:31. > :17:34.returned to New Zealand in 2007, coaching Auckland before travelling

:17:35. > :17:42.to West Wales himself in his new environment.

:17:43. > :17:47.I had people say to me that a lot of players and management live outside

:17:48. > :17:53.of Llanelli and they travel up 40 or 50 minutes, maybe coming down the M4

:17:54. > :17:56.from Cardiff. I had a chat to Steve Hansen who I have known for many

:17:57. > :18:02.years because we were in the together and coached together. His

:18:03. > :18:04.suggestion was to immerse yourself in the local community and the

:18:05. > :18:12.culture because you have got a special region and enjoy it.

:18:13. > :18:16.All that pressure from the Scarlets is turned into points.

:18:17. > :18:19.We talk about the north and south divide but what are the differences

:18:20. > :18:23.you have noticed? Definitely the amount of contact we

:18:24. > :18:26.do at training, the physicality we bring to training sessions is

:18:27. > :18:34.probably down compared to what we do at home. The Pacific Islanders like

:18:35. > :18:37.to act is the way they play. It does raise the standard for everybody

:18:38. > :18:42.across the board but that is not to say we have to be knocking the

:18:43. > :18:46.stuffing out of each other. It is a little shift.

:18:47. > :18:50.We all like to think about the Scarlets as a team that plays

:18:51. > :18:53.running rugby but how much is a balance?

:18:54. > :18:56.We have got a great tradition in the way we play the game and it is

:18:57. > :19:02.similar to back home. The attack was always going to take care of itself.

:19:03. > :19:08.We need to be expansive because we have got players who enjoys out --

:19:09. > :19:14.enjoy that. We want to play that way but some teams just don't have that

:19:15. > :19:18.mindset or ability. I would rather have a team that attacks and could

:19:19. > :19:23.score tries, provided we can score more than the opposition. The key

:19:24. > :19:27.for us now is to have the same energy levels and enthusiasm in

:19:28. > :19:31.defence as we do in attack. Any Kiwi arriving in this part of

:19:32. > :19:36.the world will be aware of that historic day in 1972 when Llanelli

:19:37. > :19:41.beat the all Blacks. The town was famously drunk dry and the shock

:19:42. > :19:44.waves resonated across the rugby world.

:19:45. > :19:51.I have told this story before, ten years of age and upset because the

:19:52. > :19:54.mighty all Blacks lost against a provincial team. I have never

:19:55. > :19:58.forgotten that and coming here it was a privilege to come to the

:19:59. > :20:03.Scarlets. Guys like Gareth Jenkins working in the office next door. We

:20:04. > :20:52.have a bit of banter and working in the office next door. We

:20:53. > :20:53.to win but we need to get the performances right on a weekly

:20:54. > :21:01.basis. The best of luck.

:21:02. > :22:45.Enjoy your Welsh kick. They were good Welsh cakes. He is a

:22:46. > :22:47.Enjoy your Welsh kick. Selection is key in this day and age

:22:48. > :22:50.and you have got to target the top six.

:22:51. > :22:53.It might be put to the test this week as they prepare to get over to

:22:54. > :22:59.the draw. Over to you. It has been a busy week

:23:00. > :23:05.for Rhys Patchell. As well as protect preparing for the match

:23:06. > :23:11.against Leinster, he showed support for the WRU initiative to get more

:23:12. > :23:15.schoolchildren into rugby. He is one of the rising stars as

:23:16. > :23:21.Cardiff Blues but earlier this week, he went back to his roots to lend

:23:22. > :23:26.his support to a WRU and schools initiative that has seen 43

:23:27. > :23:31.full-time rugby officer posts being creative. The aim is to increase the

:23:32. > :23:36.amount of rugby being played in schools and clubs.

:23:37. > :23:41.The school is a massively untapped resource in terms of participation

:23:42. > :23:45.levels and getting kids to play the game and to give them the

:23:46. > :23:51.opportunity. Gareth Bale may have been a world-class rugby player but

:23:52. > :23:54.he chose football. I mean, it is vitally important they play on a

:23:55. > :23:58.Wednesday in the regional leagues, which means they are free to play on

:23:59. > :24:03.Saturday and then maybe twice a week, learn twice a week and that

:24:04. > :24:11.can only be positive. The school club officers include

:24:12. > :24:13.Steve Jones and involves semiprofessional coaches and

:24:14. > :24:19.players. It is about producing the players

:24:20. > :24:23.from school and then pushing them and signposting them into the clubs

:24:24. > :24:27.and where they can play their rugby on the Sunday with the clubs and

:24:28. > :24:31.with us in the week in school. As they get older they will go up the

:24:32. > :24:35.league and hopefully you can produce players who go into the youth and

:24:36. > :24:39.then in three years they will be playing senior rugby.

:24:40. > :24:46.I'm pleased to say that World Cup winner and head of rugby at the WRU,

:24:47. > :24:52.Josh Lucy, is with us now. Building on a recent review, can you give us

:24:53. > :24:58.more explanation? It is a part of a broader strategy,

:24:59. > :25:03.and attempt to underpin the long-term needs of the league and

:25:04. > :25:07.community game. One thing we found amongst the review in looking at the

:25:08. > :25:11.underlying structures and systems in the game is there is a lot of

:25:12. > :25:16.convoluted structures and friction between schools and clubs. For us it

:25:17. > :25:21.is about putting the framework in place so they can flourish.

:25:22. > :25:27.What were the problems before? I think in terms of having to

:25:28. > :25:31.provide real leadership and offer the appropriate development at the

:25:32. > :25:33.appropriate age, creating a link between the national team and

:25:34. > :25:40.grassroots and making sure the content of what the guys deliver is

:25:41. > :25:44.disseminated across Wales. These are challenges we are trying

:25:45. > :25:50.to address. 43 posts have been created but is this just beginning?

:25:51. > :25:56.Let's hope so. Our intention is to grow. It is always a question of

:25:57. > :25:59.resources and as part of the union's ongoing review, either they

:26:00. > :26:04.have to be allocated from elsewhere or looking for sponsors. In terms of

:26:05. > :26:09.return of investment, 50,000 boys and girls, teaching them the right

:26:10. > :26:13.values and the right parts of the game in Wales is a fantastic

:26:14. > :26:18.opportunity to do something special. Thanks for coming in. I can only

:26:19. > :26:22.imagine the panel have strong opinions.

:26:23. > :26:36.Jonathan, you have long banned the drum for this. -- and the drum. I

:26:37. > :26:39.played rugby for my school and my team.

:26:40. > :26:44.It is about making the link because kids in school are a captive

:26:45. > :26:48.audience. Single parents can't drop off their parents on the weekend to

:26:49. > :26:54.play maybe. It is a great initiative and fantastic to see them working

:26:55. > :26:57.together. The 43 officers, I was very lucky because I had a great

:26:58. > :27:02.schoolteacher who put me on the right road to rugby union. I am

:27:03. > :27:06.delighted. I understand you have been getting

:27:07. > :27:11.your boots muddy? I have been working with children

:27:12. > :27:17.for aspirational stuff as well. This is a great initiative and when I

:27:18. > :27:21.look at the Child, for instance, who would benefit from this, he wouldn't

:27:22. > :27:29.just benefit in Iraq the way because if you give children the opportunity

:27:30. > :27:36.to play rugby, -- in a rugby way. Then maybe you would find the next

:27:37. > :27:39.big player because of this but that child will be given an opportunity

:27:40. > :27:44.to have great values and understand what it means to be part of the

:27:45. > :27:49.team. That, to me, is why this initiative is a great way of helping

:27:50. > :28:04.the children. Well fed. Let's get stuck into the Pro12 game.

:28:05. > :28:08.The Blues were in Dublin . Sam Warburton was back for the Blues

:28:09. > :28:13.after being rested last week, while Gethin Jenkins was declared fit for

:28:14. > :28:16.his first start of the season. George Watkins made his debut after

:28:17. > :28:23.impressing with five tries in two games for Cardiff RFC.

:28:24. > :28:35.The Leinster defence under pressure. Josh Navidi snap it up. Gareth

:28:36. > :28:38.Davies. Fanning in with the tackle. The child is still on for the Blues.

:28:39. > :28:48.Coming back into this game after early pressure. Gavin Hewitt. Lewis

:28:49. > :28:51.Jones. Josh Turnbull knocks it on. That could be something for colony

:28:52. > :29:00.on the counterattack. Back goes Cuthbert. He looks to open it out.

:29:01. > :29:02.He is brought down by Jamie Heaslip. Lewis Jones is appealing for a

:29:03. > :29:17.penalty and he will get one. There it is for Eoin Reddan. Ryan is

:29:18. > :29:24.stopped in his tracks. Jimmy Gopperth. This is Ruddock on the

:29:25. > :29:29.charge, hitting the line at speed and fending off Jones. Rhys Ruddock

:29:30. > :29:35.has got the first try of the game at 38 minutes, which will delight his

:29:36. > :29:41.dad. This is Eoin Reddan. And Leinster

:29:42. > :29:47.looking to put width on it. They have got around the Blues defence.

:29:48. > :29:51.Timing his past to the young replacement on half-time. Bouncing

:29:52. > :29:57.through the tackle and he has got there.

:29:58. > :30:05.More possession for Eoin Reddan. Jimmy Gopperth. A little step

:30:06. > :30:10.unlocks the Blues fans. Gordon D'Arcy is over. The first game this

:30:11. > :30:24.season. Cardiff Blues now looking on the back foot. This is Devin Toner.

:30:25. > :30:32.Jamie Heaslip. He is stopped by Warburton. A crossfield kick for

:30:33. > :30:37.McFadden but it is too high for him. Gareth Davies takes it quickly, to

:30:38. > :30:46.Corey Allen. Looking to put pressure on the defence. Corey Allen has lost

:30:47. > :30:54.it. He adds the first Blues try in nearly four hours of rugby.

:30:55. > :31:06.Can The Blues put a bit of a on this one? Adam Thomas. Support from Sam

:31:07. > :31:17.Warburton. He is over. The Blues looked to be back in it. It will go

:31:18. > :31:23.to the video referee. Can you check the final pass? The pass inside came

:31:24. > :31:34.off a Leinster defender. The try is good. Cardiff lose back in

:31:35. > :31:41.contention. -- Cardiff lose. They have got one point. They are looking

:31:42. > :31:46.to run it out from defence. Gareth Davies has lost it in contact. It is

:31:47. > :31:54.snapped up. Look McGrath goes the post. Leinster have got their bonus

:31:55. > :32:03.point. The Blues will go home pointless.

:32:04. > :32:07.They came back admirably. But they conceded the try in the last minute

:32:08. > :32:11.and left Dublin was nothing to show for their efforts. How will they

:32:12. > :32:18.feel? Massively disappointed. It was their best formance by some distance

:32:19. > :32:21.this year. But I think psychologically, to come away with

:32:22. > :32:28.nothing and then look ahead to two games, they have the Ospreys and

:32:29. > :32:35.Connacht and are both playing well, it will be tough for them. --

:32:36. > :32:38.performance. Defensively, they got rushed of a lot of tackles and that

:32:39. > :32:46.is an area of concern. But look at it. When they are in that position,

:32:47. > :32:51.they have to take the bonus point. As I said, it does not matter who

:32:52. > :32:57.you have as a defensive coach or as a head coach. If you fall of tackles

:32:58. > :33:02.you will not win games. That is what happened in a lot of those tackles.

:33:03. > :33:11.You can have the best systems in the world. You lose games. Is that a

:33:12. > :33:17.concern? It is. I have played for The Blues and watch them this year.

:33:18. > :33:20.To me, the defence is personal. If you have a one-on-one tackle to

:33:21. > :33:28.make, it is your responsibility to make it. We know sometimes we missed

:33:29. > :33:34.tackles and sometimes we make them, but to fall off as many as they did,

:33:35. > :33:38.something is going wrong some work. It is personal. You need to work on

:33:39. > :33:42.this. It comes down to one-on-one. If the guy is running harder than

:33:43. > :33:45.you are willing to tackle, he will run over you. The fixture list is

:33:46. > :33:51.looking increasingly long -- wanting. Can you see them getting

:33:52. > :34:00.anything out of their next two games? Apart from Treviso, everyone

:34:01. > :34:05.will be tough. That does not matter who you are. The competition for

:34:06. > :34:10.qualification is key. Every point is important. If they lose these two,

:34:11. > :34:16.they have a fight to get back into the top six. That is what the season

:34:17. > :34:23.is all about. Let's move on to Catalan Dragons. And to contribute

:34:24. > :34:31.so earlier on this afternoon. -- they took on Treviso. Lee Byrne was

:34:32. > :34:34.back to lead the home side. Ashton Smith returns to add experience to

:34:35. > :34:39.the backline. Andy Powell got the nod at line side. The Dragons went

:34:40. > :34:48.in search of their first win of the season.

:34:49. > :35:02.Looking to get Treviso over the gain line. Intercepted. This will be an

:35:03. > :35:15.easy run-in. It is the youngster who moves in for the first try. Andy

:35:16. > :35:23.Powell does well. A chance for the Dragons to counter from here. They

:35:24. > :35:34.switch it. He has a moss on his left. Great finish. The South

:35:35. > :35:45.African is there. Evans is trying to rip it clearer. Jonathan Evans. They

:35:46. > :35:55.must go. It is a stroll for Ashley Smith. He rounds it off.

:35:56. > :36:11.The Dragons have raised the tempo. That is great plague. What a try for

:36:12. > :36:24.Jonathan Evans! A great team effort. Looking to drive it. There he is. He

:36:25. > :36:35.has got there! Very difficult for the Dragons now. Has he got there?

:36:36. > :36:45.Surely the try has come for Treviso? We are happy for you. We do not want

:36:46. > :36:52.the results to take the focus away from the performance. We took a step

:36:53. > :36:55.forward today. It is better than me have first-team and experienced

:36:56. > :37:02.players coming back from injury. -- then when we have. Two other results

:37:03. > :37:06.to catch up on. Glasgow's flying start to the season continues. They

:37:07. > :37:19.triumphed over Connacht. Zebra beat Ulster. Ospreys retain the top spot.

:37:20. > :37:27.Bolster and Connacht make up the top four. -- Ulster. In the bottom

:37:28. > :37:29.half, the Scarlets and The Blues dropped to seventh and ninth

:37:30. > :37:35.respectively. The Dragons go to eighth. Interesting words from Lyn

:37:36. > :37:41.Jones. They are pleased with where they are. They did make heavy

:37:42. > :37:48.weather of that. The win was important. A confidence booster,

:37:49. > :37:56.that is all. They had a run of defeats. It can become a habit. It

:37:57. > :38:02.is getting the balance, getting it right. It is a game they had to win.

:38:03. > :38:06.They were never going to lose. It fell off a little bit in the second

:38:07. > :38:15.half but they got a bonus point. Reborn. Is this a new chapter? They

:38:16. > :38:21.had injury problems. There are a lot of new players there. It will take

:38:22. > :38:28.time. From now on, it will be about results. We expect them to be moving

:38:29. > :38:35.up the table. Briefly, Gareth, what about that result against Ulster?

:38:36. > :38:40.Declan Fitzpatrick sent off after 11 minutes. But you still fancied

:38:41. > :38:48.Ulster to come back? Well, good on the French side! It has shown that

:38:49. > :38:51.teams going out there and not having the motivation they should have had,

:38:52. > :39:00.they will come unstuck. Over to Bethan. We are in week three of the

:39:01. > :39:07.Premiership. Any surprises? A lot of surprise results! Defending

:39:08. > :39:13.champions Pontypridd left things a little late before securing their

:39:14. > :39:20.win of the season. Bridgend took the lead after a try from Flatley. Three

:39:21. > :39:29.second-half tries but the hosts included this one. It gave them a

:39:30. > :39:40.bonus point win. The Ravens went home empty-handed. Carmarthenshire

:39:41. > :39:53.Derby ensued. Adams crossed for the first try of the season. The

:39:54. > :40:02.visitors took the lead. Having supper to heavy defeats Newport

:40:03. > :40:07.-based Ebbw Vale. They came away with an unexpected victory. John

:40:08. > :40:15.Morris scored the only try for Newport. It was the boot of the

:40:16. > :40:31.Black and Amber's O'Driscoll which scored 17 points. Bridge Field saw a

:40:32. > :40:39.thrilling match. It was the visitors who scored first. They went on to

:40:40. > :40:42.build a comfortable 31-10 lead. Despite two tries within two minutes

:40:43. > :40:50.in the second half, they could not complete the comeback. Abba Ravin

:40:51. > :40:57.were the worthy winners. Cardiff took an early 10-0 lead against

:40:58. > :41:03.Cross Keys. Cardiff had to welsh capped players in their side. It was

:41:04. > :41:07.Lloyd Lewis who caught the eye with a superb individual try. The

:41:08. > :41:16.visitors claimed their fourth successive win. Both sides fielded

:41:17. > :41:25.to regional players. The Ospreys player got me off to a flying start.

:41:26. > :41:31.Scarlets wing Phillips scored twice. They secured a third successive win.

:41:32. > :41:36.That defeat for Neath lead them rooted at the bottom of the table.

:41:37. > :41:48.Pontypridd and Carmarthen remain the only two undefeated sites. From the

:41:49. > :41:58.Premiership and we go now to Anglesey. Now that we have the cup,

:41:59. > :42:01.the plate and the bold, the prospect of a once-in-a-lifetime appearance

:42:02. > :42:12.at the Millennium Stadium really adds extra spice to cup day. This

:42:13. > :42:19.Division 2 team are hoping to make the long journey south. They have to

:42:20. > :42:25.overcome the team from Division 3 who made the journey from Wrexham.

:42:26. > :42:32.We went down from Division 1 to Division 2. We have got a very good

:42:33. > :42:38.team and we are fighting back. We are going to try and go back up. We

:42:39. > :42:41.have two players in the team who haven't played for the junior team

:42:42. > :42:51.and the youth team. It is working well. You are from... Stockport,

:42:52. > :42:57.Coventry. You learn the language? I have. Can you give me a hand in

:42:58. > :43:14.pronouncing your opposition today? No, I cannot. Come on, boys! We are

:43:15. > :43:20.very proud of what we have. We are proud of the scenery. We have some

:43:21. > :43:26.committed young lads coming through. Let's hope there is room for

:43:27. > :43:33.improvement. I think this is going to be a long afternoon. Almost as

:43:34. > :43:45.long as their name! They do look a well Jill team. They are very tidy.

:43:46. > :43:49.-- well drilled. We have many North Wales players that have gone through

:43:50. > :44:00.to the national side. One of them is still coaching. Are you talking

:44:01. > :44:07.about McBride? I am. Things are not going well for you, unfortunately.

:44:08. > :44:11.We are struggling for numbers today. One of the lads has just got

:44:12. > :44:17.engaged. We are trying to make the most of it! Every cloud has a silver

:44:18. > :44:24.lining! We have a bit of a suntan, as well. Are you a former player?

:44:25. > :44:40.No, I am not. Just in love with the game. I am. A food all? Only joking!

:44:41. > :44:45.As that camera not run out of film yet? How proud would you be as a

:44:46. > :44:52.grandfather to watch them play at the Millennium Stadium? I would be

:44:53. > :44:56.the first one there. We do? Yes. It would be great if they managed.

:44:57. > :45:03.Really fantastic. We would all be there to mention Mark first, she is

:45:04. > :45:10.second, and you will have be third! All right. There seems to be some

:45:11. > :45:21.confusion. How many tries have you scored? It was eight in the end. He

:45:22. > :45:27.has turned you into a have tidy player! Yes, it has worked well for

:45:28. > :45:35.me! Not a bad result. Greg Horsman scored eight tries. Incidentally,

:45:36. > :45:44.Northampton have jumped above Bath in the Aviva Premiership table.

:45:45. > :45:47.Thank you. We turn our attention to next week. Another Welsh derby.

:45:48. > :46:02.Scarlets take on well as he could have. He has

:46:03. > :46:07.struggled a little. Liam Williams is just on fire. Fantastic and

:46:08. > :46:15.everything, attack and defence. We can see here. He has started the

:46:16. > :46:21.season fantastically well. The old head, Lee Byrne... He will always

:46:22. > :46:26.put in a performance when it comes to a local derby. He will relish the

:46:27. > :46:34.opportunity. He wants to play against the Scarlets. He has a great

:46:35. > :46:39.left foot. It is his ability to hit the line that has poured in. I am

:46:40. > :46:46.looking forward to this. -- that is important. He is one of the players

:46:47. > :48:46.of the season, Liam Williams. Lee Byrne has opened

:48:47. > :48:48.of the season, Liam Williams. Lee We believe you with a tribute to a

:48:49. > :48:52.colleague of ours who after nearly 60 years in the industry has decided

:48:53. > :49:00.to hang up his microphone. Good night. But the past 26 years Delhi

:49:01. > :49:08.Griffiths has delighted radio Wales listeners on his popular show A

:49:09. > :49:12.String Of Pearls. This morning, aged 83, he bade farewell to his

:49:13. > :49:15.listeners and announced his retirement. For 30 years he directed

:49:16. > :49:22.every live rugby match from the National Stadium beginning with

:49:23. > :49:26.Wales taking on England in 1963. He was adept in front and behind the

:49:27. > :49:32.camera. But one of his fondest memories remains the Barbarians

:49:33. > :49:35.taking on New Zealand in 1973. It was Cliff Morgan's breathless

:49:36. > :49:44.commentary and his direction that help make that tries so memorable.

:49:45. > :49:51.This is Gareth Edwards! Dramatic start!
