:00:17. > :00:32.COMMENTATOR: France need a converted try to win. Antonio declared himself

:00:33. > :00:41.fit, but is not. Do you think he needs a head assessment? Yes. Far be

:00:42. > :00:46.it from me to say that was cheating. Who is going to be binned? Sam Son

:00:47. > :00:57.Ly by the looks of it. Is he injured? This has been going on for

:00:58. > :01:03.well over 50 minutes in real-time. Here we go again, 90 minutes on the

:01:04. > :01:13.clock. As part of the subplot, 30 seconds and counting down to the

:01:14. > :01:19.return of some Sunli. Duncan Davies has ridden the word shambles done.

:01:20. > :01:24.France over the line -- return of Sampson Lee. France have won the

:01:25. > :01:31.game. It has been one of the longest games on record -- Samson Lee.

:01:32. > :01:37.Welcome to Scrum V, one of the longest, bizarre, surreal and easily

:01:38. > :01:41.one of the most farcical we have ever seen. It was crazy, we have a

:01:42. > :01:50.packed show and a phenomenal studio audience. APPLAUSE

:01:51. > :01:57.And we have Sean Holley. And we have the Wales women and the under 20s in

:01:58. > :02:01.the house. Let's cut to the chase because we have some great special

:02:02. > :02:17.guests. Please welcome Shane Williams, CHEERING

:02:18. > :02:26.Aled Jones, Peter Jackson. CHEERING Brendan Rogers evening. So much, so

:02:27. > :02:30.much to get through the night, we are going to catch up with all the

:02:31. > :02:32.guys in a minute but in all the confusion that happened between

:02:33. > :02:36.minutes 80 and 100 we probably forgot what happened in the first

:02:37. > :02:43.80, so let's remind ourselves, shall we?

:02:44. > :02:57.COMMENTATOR: France in possession, Kevin Gourdon weights. Now let's

:02:58. > :03:08.Serin takeover. The home in a thunderous on the charge. Lopez. It

:03:09. > :03:12.is the try. V wide players around the fringes were not quick enough.

:03:13. > :03:23.That point France were on the front foot. France claimed the turnover.

:03:24. > :03:32.Through Remi Lamerat. Was there a knock-on? Flailing arm knocked the

:03:33. > :03:36.ball on. REFEREE: A deliberate knock-on, it is a good position but

:03:37. > :03:43.we're not that the trial is going to be scored so he goes to the bin and

:03:44. > :03:49.no penalty try. No penalty try about ten minutes in the bin for Virimi

:03:50. > :04:01.Vakatawa. It is good by Leigh Halfpenny. Warburton plays

:04:02. > :04:07.scrum-half. Jake Davies. Penalty advantage to Wales, they have a free

:04:08. > :04:15.play here. Rob Evans does well to ride the first tackle. Biggar. Scott

:04:16. > :04:25.Williams along the floor. George North outside him. Took the ball

:04:26. > :04:31.standing still. Dulin, standing tackle. Back to the penalty.

:04:32. > :04:37.The Welsh scrummage under real pressure. A bit of pulling and

:04:38. > :04:46.pushing. Long enough. Straight enough. Wales

:04:47. > :05:00.take the lead. It comes to France on tidal. It

:05:01. > :05:10.comes to France, but illegally. Halfpenny, does he like it? He does,

:05:11. > :05:28.he does indeed. Wales creeping forward. High tackle.

:05:29. > :05:33.Wales have a lot of redshirt around, here they come through Dan Biggar.

:05:34. > :05:42.Can't get the pass away. France over the ball. WHISTLE

:05:43. > :05:54.It is a high tackle. And again, the crowd expressed their displeasure.

:05:55. > :06:05.Are you injured? You're OK, fine, let's go. He has just he was not

:06:06. > :06:11.injured. Ten seconds left of normal time, but this is France's chance.

:06:12. > :06:22.WHISTLE One second, one second. I think not

:06:23. > :06:28.good. He declared himself fit but he is not. It is one of those.

:06:29. > :06:38.Do this employ specialist prop? That is just an amazing coincidence. Do

:06:39. > :06:41.you think he needs a head assessment? Yes. Yes, as a doctor

:06:42. > :06:48.you have said he needs a head assessment. We are happy whatever. I

:06:49. > :06:55.suppose it appends how cynical you are about this. You fear the worst

:06:56. > :06:57.when it comes to your analysis here. The doctor actually said yes, he

:06:58. > :07:10.needs an assessment. France so close to the line, and

:07:11. > :07:22.still not over, but it is a penalty advantage for France. The ball will

:07:23. > :07:27.be held up. France have the penalty. Aaron O'Connor yellow card, not the

:07:28. > :07:36.final play. Samson Lee by the looks of it. You have to have a suitable

:07:37. > :07:44.replacement: who has to be qualified in that position in the front row.

:07:45. > :07:49.Leigh Halfpenny is coming. They go wide, they go wider. He can't get

:07:50. > :07:54.through, the ball has gone loose but we go back for the penalty.

:07:55. > :08:15.Halfpenny 15. So, George North has made a tackle

:08:16. > :08:19.on the full-back. And then in the most bizarre circumstances, we are

:08:20. > :08:29.all looking everybody for a bite. There is clearly a bite mark on his

:08:30. > :08:38.arm. No conclusive footage, play on. Kroos Dulin tackled by George Low.

:08:39. > :08:45.No conclusive footage of a bite. The penalties against Rhys Webb. For the

:08:46. > :08:50.line, Dan Biggar is heading for the bin in the hundredth minute of the

:08:51. > :08:52.game, if France don't score. France over the line, they claim the try.

:08:53. > :08:59.WHISTLE CHEERING

:09:00. > :09:11.And the try by Wayne Barnes is awarded. It goes through, and France

:09:12. > :09:17.have won the game. It has been one of the longest games on record, but

:09:18. > :09:18.the upshot is that France have beaten Wales here at the start to

:09:19. > :09:27.France. There you have it, all 99 minutes

:09:28. > :09:33.and 55 seconds of it but let's hear what the players and coaches had to

:09:34. > :09:37.say post-match. Have Wales any complaints, and if so what are they?

:09:38. > :09:44.In terms of the process, I believe so. I think that leading up to the

:09:45. > :09:50.substitute, I think there is evidence that suggests the prop was

:09:51. > :09:57.taken off, you know, with an injury which maybe he didn't have. No

:09:58. > :10:07.issues about the result, just about the process. Are you injured? I am

:10:08. > :10:25.good. You're OK, it's fine. He has just me he is not injured.

:10:26. > :10:35.Do you think he needs a head assessment? Yes. The doctor of the

:10:36. > :10:40.French team has told me his player needs a head assessment. I am sure

:10:41. > :10:43.there are people saying me that we could have claimed Tom Francis was

:10:44. > :10:47.injured and go for an uncontested scrum, which I'm not going to lie, I

:10:48. > :10:53.have been inside is where those questions have been mentioned. But I

:10:54. > :11:00.thought we responded with integrity and we were Tom Francis Kaman

:11:01. > :11:02.because he was fit. That is what we do. Can we have the details of his

:11:03. > :11:33.injury please? It is pretty obvious in terms of

:11:34. > :11:38.what happened, there is a technical area and you are not allowed outside

:11:39. > :11:41.that technical area. Ultimately someone has come outside and allowed

:11:42. > :11:48.the doctor to go and add a break in play. That is outside the laws of

:11:49. > :11:55.the game. Wayne Barnes, you can hear him ask him if he is OK. Are you

:11:56. > :12:02.injured? He says I have got a sore back and then I am OK. Then in the

:12:03. > :12:07.doctor comes on and he goes. Not for a sore back? Yellow Mavrias. There

:12:08. > :12:15.was a suggestion by the Wales winger George North that he had been

:12:16. > :12:17.bitten. The referee said there was clearly a bite mark when he went to

:12:18. > :12:31.the fourth official. There is evidence that office Leigh

:12:32. > :12:38.in terms of the TMO they have looked. I have spoken to the three

:12:39. > :12:38.officials and they have said it is inconclusive, so we accept that

:12:39. > :12:48.decision. We will talk about the bite, but it

:12:49. > :12:52.Peter if I can throw the first question to you, in 30, 40 years you

:12:53. > :12:58.have been covering the game. 50 years! I was being kind, have you

:12:59. > :13:01.ever experienced anything like that? No, nothing like that, I had the

:13:02. > :13:07.watch on the game and if you take out stoppage time it ran to a total

:13:08. > :13:10.of 122 minutes eight seconds. The second half was 75 minutes 55

:13:11. > :13:15.seconds, so no, I have never seen that. But having seen it now ad

:13:16. > :13:21.infinitum, I am disappointed that as great a figure as Guy Novas should

:13:22. > :13:25.react in such a cynical way by biting himself as the clearly

:13:26. > :13:31.something happen there. I thought also that Wayne Barnes did his very

:13:32. > :13:36.best in very trying circumstances. I thought he was kind to Wales. Giving

:13:37. > :13:44.away now penalties in the two session, only one yellow card. Had

:13:45. > :13:47.they gone down, France probably would have shocked them over. The

:13:48. > :13:50.game would not have dragged on. They was so farcical one stage I was kind

:13:51. > :13:57.of expecting Inspector clues to come on with his white Mac and magnifying

:13:58. > :14:02.glass. If you didn't know much about rugby, you would say what on earth

:14:03. > :14:06.is going on here? Barnes had no option but to keep refereeing it

:14:07. > :14:11.until the technical fence came along and he ended the game. Had the

:14:12. > :14:15.biting been proven, and that is fiendishly difficult if you don't

:14:16. > :14:20.have video evidence, then of course the game would have been over there

:14:21. > :14:23.and then. A statement just in from the Six Nations, saying they will

:14:24. > :14:26.look into that, so if a complaint is brought it will be investigated and

:14:27. > :14:32.if punishment is required it will be brought forth in the next 48 hours.

:14:33. > :14:34.Adam, Rob Howley strong in condemning France, saying they

:14:35. > :14:44.undermined the integrity of the game, did they cheat? Discover

:14:45. > :14:50.probably. George North was not struggling -- who was not scrumming

:14:51. > :14:56.particularly well, and they thought that was the best bet. As Pete said,

:14:57. > :15:02.Wales gave for penalties away in the scrum. Any other referee, under less

:15:03. > :15:07.pressure, would have given a penalty try against them. Barnes did a

:15:08. > :15:11.pretty good job for my reckoning. He is a barrister or something, so he

:15:12. > :15:18.knows the score. If a little French doctor comes on, he has to take him

:15:19. > :15:20.for his word. It is paramount at the moment, injury, and especially

:15:21. > :15:29.concussion, so he has to take the fellow at his word. I am sure it

:15:30. > :15:32.will come out in the wash. It is difficult, Rob was honest after the

:15:33. > :15:36.game, he did not make any excuses, he was not disputing the result but

:15:37. > :15:42.the process. He has reason to feel aggrieved, doesn't it? Yes. We have

:15:43. > :15:47.already spoken about the Atonio incident. He obviously did not know

:15:48. > :15:51.what his injury was until the doctor came on, and therefore the doctor

:15:52. > :15:55.kind of explained it. But the process of it all, I kind of agree.

:15:56. > :16:00.I think Wales were very lucky not to have conceded a penalty try in that

:16:01. > :16:03.period as well. The French were certainly putting the Welsh under

:16:04. > :16:06.loads of pressure. Wales defended their hearts out but it was not

:16:07. > :16:11.enough in the end unfortunately. You have to give credit to France as

:16:12. > :16:13.well, the way they finish that game, apart from the controversy. They

:16:14. > :16:19.kept the game well and eventually won the game. That's the way it goes

:16:20. > :16:24.sometimes. If the scrum scenario was not surreal enough, there was a bite

:16:25. > :16:27.allegation which made it even more surreal, and then the suggestion of

:16:28. > :16:31.a self-inflicted. Is George North kind of guy who would bite himself?

:16:32. > :16:35.LAUGHTER Unless he didn't have his pre-match

:16:36. > :16:38.meal, I don't know. Why would George do that, if you gets found to bite

:16:39. > :16:42.himself who would be a laughing stock. I think it was crazy. There

:16:43. > :16:48.was only one camera angle, which didn't show anything. Why would

:16:49. > :16:54.George do that? From the camera angle we had we could not see

:16:55. > :16:55.anything. The game did go on for a bit, so maybe he was hungry.

:16:56. > :17:02.LAUGHTER Maybe he was. Do you not find it

:17:03. > :17:08.strange that French TV would only have one angle of the incident? I am

:17:09. > :17:11.pretty sceptical of a lot of things, but I am not cynical enough to

:17:12. > :17:17.believe that a host broadcaster would deliberately hold back damning

:17:18. > :17:20.evidence. Unless I am neither that, I would have thought if they have

:17:21. > :17:26.the other angle. Two players go into a tackle, it is quite conceivable

:17:27. > :17:29.you can be bit without any evidence. I remember Sean Fitzpatrick, New

:17:30. > :17:36.Zealand against Australia, when Johan Djourou had his ear so badly,

:17:37. > :17:42.19 stitches, and the evidence was there, and they did not actually see

:17:43. > :17:45.the teeth going into his ear. Sometimes it is difficult to prove,

:17:46. > :17:50.when you go for a try, there are three or four camera angles, we have

:17:51. > :17:53.just in one, which is a bit bizarre. I think it was Yoann Maestri who

:17:54. > :17:58.suggested he may have bitten himself, and then the other farcical

:17:59. > :18:02.thing for me when Atonio said the Barnes, yes, I'm fit, and Summer Rae

:18:03. > :18:06.said he probably lost that in translation. I mean, he is a New

:18:07. > :18:11.Zealander, English is his first language. You talk about Wayne

:18:12. > :18:15.Barnes and the pressure he was under, when 20 minutes over or more

:18:16. > :18:20.if you look at Peter's stopwatch, he is accused of bias on both sides.

:18:21. > :18:24.Yoann Maestri said perhaps the bite was self-inflicted afterwards but

:18:25. > :18:30.said they had been treated like a small nation, and the British stick

:18:31. > :18:44.together. They don't think he quite understands the geopolitics of the

:18:45. > :18:47.UK. He made one bad decision, before Vakatawa was cautioned. I can't

:18:48. > :18:50.believe both touch judges did not see it. You should have been in the

:18:51. > :18:55.bin for that. I commenced on the fence saying the Welsh player did it

:18:56. > :19:01.and he gets a rivet, one of Wales tonne Ashun he gets away with it. A

:19:02. > :19:07.Both sides accusing him of bias, which probably means he played down

:19:08. > :19:12.the middle. I thought it was good. As Pete said about the tackle, the

:19:13. > :19:17.knock-on, what you call it, you have two scrum well. I thought he did a

:19:18. > :19:21.really good job, and the last 20 minutes you would not want to wish

:19:22. > :19:25.on any referee, well, maybe you might. I guess a La Turbie would say

:19:26. > :19:29.he has cost us this game but we could have lost that ten minute

:19:30. > :19:34.earlier with the scrums. He has done a good job, for me, and he is a

:19:35. > :19:37.pretty stand-up guy. Talking about the controversy, but to be fair, we

:19:38. > :19:42.had 80 minutes where maybe we should have put that game to bed and we

:19:43. > :19:46.didn't so what went wrong? Wales did well to get themselves in front but

:19:47. > :19:51.some crucial errors cost them after a really poor start. Such a poor

:19:52. > :19:55.start in fact that Wales lost the first line-out. Alun Wyn Jones under

:19:56. > :20:01.a little bit of pressure, and overthrow and gave France early

:20:02. > :20:07.ball. Early scrum, the first scrum, it gets France the ball again. You

:20:08. > :20:11.have to put this Picamoles down, don't give him a second bite of the

:20:12. > :20:16.cherry. Some smart play here, shoring up the Welsh defence.

:20:17. > :20:21.Camille Lopez again gets them on the front foot. Hard for Wales to fall

:20:22. > :20:24.on the script for now. Liam Williams and Jonathan Davies left isolated

:20:25. > :20:29.with many French doubles. Kevin Gourdon, we highlighted last week,

:20:30. > :20:33.rips through the defence. The number of French players going around the

:20:34. > :20:36.corner and that leaves a problem for Jonathan Davies. As Peter Jackson

:20:37. > :20:40.rightly said, this on another day could have been a yellow card for

:20:41. > :20:43.the outside centre. France showed their intent, they went to the

:20:44. > :20:47.corner for the line-out from a penalty. I want to show you Rhys

:20:48. > :20:53.Webb and Liam Williams, how the defensive structure is set for

:20:54. > :20:57.Wales. France now this. Look at their position, it is a tactic that

:20:58. > :21:01.would have preordained. Liam Williams sweeps and covers the space

:21:02. > :21:05.on the left, the kick needs to go over the centres where it is hard

:21:06. > :21:11.for a sweeper to get to, and Lopez does it with aplomb. Great try from

:21:12. > :21:20.France. Wales have their moment too. Was this a penalty try? Dan Biggar,

:21:21. > :21:25.if I show you the close-up in slow motion, you will see that the wing

:21:26. > :21:28.clearly slaps the ball down. That is a penalty offence, a yellow card

:21:29. > :21:32.offence, George North exasperated, doesn't get over. Wales had to deal

:21:33. > :21:40.with crucial changes, Captain Alun Wyn Jones and then Ball. Leigh

:21:41. > :21:46.Halfpenny was back to his imperious kicking best and kept Wales in

:21:47. > :21:50.front. But they made crucial errors. This is an area Wales had been

:21:51. > :21:54.targeting the Six Nations. The window gets too far in front, it

:21:55. > :21:58.happened time and time again. They'll still had control, they had

:21:59. > :22:02.a penalty to relieve pressure, the score is five points up the Wales of

:22:03. > :22:06.the 75th minute but they missed the line-up crucially and give Wales the

:22:07. > :22:11.ball -- France the ball back again. Another error was coming up. Great

:22:12. > :22:14.work from Sam Warburton, showing her strength again, ripping the ball

:22:15. > :22:17.from the French. The right decision to hack it down the field and Wales

:22:18. > :22:21.are really unlucky that the ball bounces on and goes over the

:22:22. > :22:24.dead-ball line, meaning another scrum to France. From that their

:22:25. > :22:32.tails were out. You now see Wales tiring. Two of our backroom boys

:22:33. > :22:36.slipping. They are now in the Wales's 22 with their tails up. You

:22:37. > :22:41.don't need your present slipping off tackles. Picamoles going to hire

:22:42. > :22:46.again. Now France are really threatening. They eventually got to

:22:47. > :22:49.the line and look at the clock. This was the first penalty that Wayne

:22:50. > :22:53.Barnes gave in this position. That was crucial to the series of scrums

:22:54. > :22:56.that went on and we all know what happened in the next 20 minutes.

:22:57. > :23:05.Don't need to go over that again. Lots to chew on. Scrummaging

:23:06. > :23:08.superiority that France showed, did that alarm you or is it just that

:23:09. > :23:16.France were very good at that aspect throughout the championship? Heaters

:23:17. > :23:19.in the click your modern-day prop, assuming he is the best -- he

:23:20. > :23:27.doesn't look like your modern-day prop. Back to yesteryear. We played

:23:28. > :23:31.against early in the season, and he caused Joe Marler all sorts of

:23:32. > :23:36.problems. We are a big pack as well, don't forget that. He is such a good

:23:37. > :23:42.operator, I was not that surprised. So we finished fifth. No matter how

:23:43. > :23:48.we trace it up, to store the worse finish we have had since 2007, so I

:23:49. > :23:54.would take it you would say that is a failure. Absolutely. Wales expects

:23:55. > :23:57.better than that. I am not sounding wise after the event, I said before

:23:58. > :24:00.the tournament I struggle to see Wales winning two tries at the very

:24:01. > :24:03.most. I thought they would be deadly and I thought they would within

:24:04. > :24:08.France. I didn't see them beating Ireland, don't suppose many people

:24:09. > :24:11.did. That is not only that, a tries, the fewer number that Wales have

:24:12. > :24:17.scored in the Six Nations in six seasons. That is not good enough.

:24:18. > :24:20.There is a danger that we allow the 20 minute stoppage time, and the

:24:21. > :24:25.biting the change of the to mask the fact that this was, when you strip

:24:26. > :24:32.it down, another substandard performance. Wales threaten a try,

:24:33. > :24:35.apart from the move that Vakatawa stopped with his illegal

:24:36. > :24:40.intervention. Yes, North probably would have scored a try. There was a

:24:41. > :24:43.strong case for a penalty try, another player coming across so

:24:44. > :24:45.Barnes estimate a split-second decision and maybe you can

:24:46. > :24:49.understand him airing slightly on the side of caution. That apart,

:24:50. > :24:53.didn't see any real sign thereafter of Wales scoring a try. What

:24:54. > :24:58.concerns me about Wales is that the whole thing is built on defence.

:24:59. > :25:02.Keep them out. And they are very good at that, I accept that,

:25:03. > :25:06.terrific. And I admire the courage and the effort that went into it

:25:07. > :25:10.yesterday. I admire Rob Evans's attitude, we don't care who comes

:25:11. > :25:14.on, we will handle it. He was fantastic, he went 97 minutes, and

:25:15. > :25:20.well done. But I come back to the point is that too little is being

:25:21. > :25:22.created. Dan Biggar commune when he is struggling kazoo starts

:25:23. > :25:26.remonstrating chucking his arms about and the rest of it. Here we

:25:27. > :25:29.are now at the end of the international season, we still don't

:25:30. > :25:33.know how good some Davies will be because he has not been given a

:25:34. > :25:41.proper run. So I think it is a season of lost up a tune that is --

:25:42. > :25:48.Sam Davies. He once scored 30 points with the boot. They all count.

:25:49. > :25:51.Picking up on Peter Bowes Mac point, we have talked a lot in the last 12

:25:52. > :25:55.months about the solution of our style, this search for a new

:25:56. > :25:59.identity, a tries in five games does not suggest we have come very far.

:26:00. > :26:03.Not really, especially when you look at the talent we have in the

:26:04. > :26:06.backline. The two games I really enjoyed, the England game was

:26:07. > :26:11.fantastic, adding Wales played with tempo and width and looked

:26:12. > :26:16.dangerous. Ireland game, George North, 15 plus touches, get involved

:26:17. > :26:19.in the game nice and early, plays with width. The teams we haven't

:26:20. > :26:24.played well against we haven't been creative at all. I just think it is

:26:25. > :26:28.a waste really, especially when the players you do have in your armoury.

:26:29. > :26:31.We are a good team, some great players that can score tries if

:26:32. > :26:36.given opportunities but I just don't think we used this close enough. If

:26:37. > :26:39.you are saying we have got the players, James, does that point a

:26:40. > :26:48.finger at the coaching of the players? Maybe. Scott Williams, a

:26:49. > :26:50.quality player, he has all the skills, footwork, great passer of

:26:51. > :26:54.the ball but we are probably asking him to do Jamie Roberts's job,

:26:55. > :26:58.really. I think at the moment it is just not working. We have got the

:26:59. > :27:02.players but maybe it is just our game plan, we have played it so

:27:03. > :27:07.long, bash it up, get round the corner. You talk about change, but I

:27:08. > :27:12.think we have got the players, it is just not happening at the moment. I

:27:13. > :27:15.don't know whether can play like that against Ireland and we can't do

:27:16. > :27:18.it at France. Wales have been successful on the road in the past,

:27:19. > :27:25.especially in France, and France are a team that Wales has good tries

:27:26. > :27:30.against. Apart from the George North incident, the Vakatawa knock-on, we

:27:31. > :27:33.didn't look like scoring tries. That is the maddening thing, the

:27:34. > :27:38.inconsistencies. We get an epic win and people think things are back in

:27:39. > :27:40.sure and then this happens. Wales Kanpur two together in this

:27:41. > :27:43.championship and people accuse me of being negative that my criticism is

:27:44. > :27:47.based on the fact that the real world stood up against Ireland. Why

:27:48. > :27:49.didn't we see more of being negative that my criticism is based on the

:27:50. > :27:51.fact that the real well stood up against Ireland. Why didn't we see

:27:52. > :27:54.moreover yesterday against let's face it a French team that is less

:27:55. > :27:59.than fearsome. I mean, they are better than they used to be, but

:28:00. > :28:03.still fairly dire. To come away from that 20-18, I thought probably again

:28:04. > :28:09.you would say two tries to nil. There is only so much the half funny

:28:10. > :28:11.can do. I thought it was terrific yesterday and answered all the

:28:12. > :28:15.doubts, and I am not quite sure he will make the Lions trip but it was

:28:16. > :28:18.nice to see come back. He never looked like missing. There is too

:28:19. > :28:25.much reliance on him and too little reliance on creating tries. Let's

:28:26. > :28:32.talk positives. Defence. Shaun Edwards took a bit of a hammering

:28:33. > :28:36.after the autumn campaign. But far the Scotland game and a few bits in

:28:37. > :28:39.England, it it has been good but defence is there when you

:28:40. > :28:46.Championships any more. Not the first time with him. He is a proud

:28:47. > :28:51.man, a rugby league legend, massive part of his game. He would have felt

:28:52. > :28:56.it hurt, the autumn, and you could see the way the boys responded. I do

:28:57. > :28:59.know how he would have been, he was quite angry, he got in your face. He

:29:00. > :29:04.would have made it known what he wanted. Can I just say a word about

:29:05. > :29:09.the attack, at the moment we look a little bit as if we are a team of

:29:10. > :29:12.backs and forwards, no attachment between the two. There are no

:29:13. > :29:22.forwards running off the backs, so no backs to play the forwards into

:29:23. > :29:27.the line. You have Justin Tipuric at seven, and he is seen as the perfect

:29:28. > :29:31.linked player, so why isn't it happening? Played one game plan for

:29:32. > :29:36.so long, since 2008. I think it takes time. For one game they are

:29:37. > :29:42.playing one way, another game another. It does take time. To be

:29:43. > :29:45.fair, Tips is roaming the wider channel so that is not really the

:29:46. > :29:51.link man. He would be more infield. They are playing 242, sort of

:29:52. > :29:58.football formation, the front five in the middle of the field. As Mr

:29:59. > :30:03.Prescott 's work in the autumn, New Zealand and have a strategy, they

:30:04. > :30:06.play 242 and it is very specific. They don't know if we are trying to

:30:07. > :30:16.go down that route and not getting the hang of it.

:30:17. > :30:25.It just looks disjointed to me at the moment. Are just expecting

:30:26. > :30:34.things to happen too quickly, as a nation? Not really. I think with

:30:35. > :30:39.professional rugby, we have good players. The likes of Tikrit, he

:30:40. > :30:44.can't keep in every position. The amount of work he does of the ball,

:30:45. > :30:48.you would not believe. And when he does get in good positions, it is

:30:49. > :30:57.like having an extra back. Sometimes we just cannot get in there. There

:30:58. > :31:02.is no transition, we have players in the team that are good enough to

:31:03. > :31:09.play, we have done it, why can't we keep doing it? We have exciting

:31:10. > :31:18.talent. George North, superb and involved a lot. Almost redundant

:31:19. > :31:22.against France in the second half. The other teams have brought

:31:23. > :31:27.something innovative to the competition. Scotland with a cheeky

:31:28. > :31:32.line-out play against Ireland. England's terrific against Scotland.

:31:33. > :31:35.The way they punished Jonathan Davies's mistake and again, probably

:31:36. > :31:41.they did not deserve to win but they did. With the best will in the

:31:42. > :31:45.world, I have seen nothing innovative from Wales this season

:31:46. > :31:50.alone flashes I have seen from Sam Davies. And when you're under

:31:51. > :31:58.pressure, you revert back to time. Against Ireland, they were under so

:31:59. > :32:02.much pressure. When the wee break free of these shackles then? No

:32:03. > :32:14.continuity in terms of the attack culture, we will have a new player

:32:15. > :32:18.again after this, arts players confused with mixed messages? I

:32:19. > :32:23.don't know what was happening with Alex King and Rob Howley but the

:32:24. > :32:30.likes of Justin to trick, Scott Williams, I know that when you're

:32:31. > :32:37.under pressure, you go back to your original game plan and ultimately

:32:38. > :32:46.you have to listen to the couch. Who do we bring in? New look at the

:32:47. > :32:49.Scarlets, Steffan Evans, another missed opportunity. Stephen Jones

:32:50. > :32:57.will get his chance in the South Sea Islands at the end of the season. It

:32:58. > :33:00.is difficult. I mean, to be fair to the coaches, I think they have

:33:01. > :33:07.limited choice, not as limited as they have made it out to be, and I

:33:08. > :33:10.do think there is a serious lack of basic skills. I mean, Jonathan

:33:11. > :33:17.Davies would be the first to admit that passing isn't as strong as it

:33:18. > :33:20.could be in for an outside centre that is pretty essential. And I

:33:21. > :33:28.think there a missed opportunity, the autumn series would have been

:33:29. > :33:31.the perfect opportunity to bring in players who haven't played much, Sam

:33:32. > :33:42.Davies should have played for more than he did in the autumn series. We

:33:43. > :33:45.had an opportunity. These are the opportunities to test players in

:33:46. > :33:50.different positions before a big tournament like the Six Nations. The

:33:51. > :33:54.problem is, the study Six Nations, a tough start against Italy, bring Sam

:33:55. > :33:59.Davies on it had a great game. But then under pressure, a big match the

:34:00. > :34:03.following week, and the haven't really gambled on selection since.

:34:04. > :34:08.And then it becomes difficult to bring new and young players in. We

:34:09. > :34:12.will talk about this later. The men played this weekend and the women

:34:13. > :34:20.and under-25s on. Let's see how they got on.

:34:21. > :34:29.COMMENTATOR: Wales and the other side and it is at try for showing up

:34:30. > :34:37.all hues. An advantage coming to France. Can they turn it into a

:34:38. > :34:48.five? They're over the line. The referee says it is a try. It could

:34:49. > :34:54.go all the way into the corner here. With Wales again, can they get a

:34:55. > :35:04.second try? They can! It is Amy Evans. They have run out here. She

:35:05. > :35:13.goes wide. Is it going to be the score? Yes. France finding someone

:35:14. > :35:35.with. It's a try. COMMENTATOR: Tries to get the ball

:35:36. > :35:51.flowed and is still available. And lunging over is Alan Ward. Spreading

:35:52. > :36:00.it wide. But the try has come. There will be an advantage. France have

:36:01. > :36:14.their tails up. But it is the shelf that comes through for him. They

:36:15. > :36:25.have to score out wide. And the fourth try has come. Runners out

:36:26. > :36:34.wide. And straight through the middle goes Geoffrey Cross. And it

:36:35. > :36:43.is out. It looks ominous for Wales. Another try, an easy stroll. It must

:36:44. > :36:51.come for Wales and it has in the end, far too late.

:36:52. > :36:57.STUDIO: Not be on the under 20 team would have wanted. Their bid to

:36:58. > :37:00.finish second was scuppered by France. England had already wrapped

:37:01. > :37:05.up the championship the week before but added the Grand Slam on Friday.

:37:06. > :37:12.Congratulations to them. And the same goes for the women. 5-5 for

:37:13. > :37:17.England. Wales finished a disappointing fifth following their

:37:18. > :37:24.final round defeat to France. Shaun Holley is over there. Yes. We are

:37:25. > :37:30.joined by members of the 20s and the women's squad. A disappointing end

:37:31. > :37:38.to the Six Nations but overall a pleasing effort? Yes, obviously

:37:39. > :37:44.disappointed to lose but I think it was a positive campaign, obviously

:37:45. > :37:48.disappointing to lose out but overall we can look back and has

:37:49. > :37:58.been great for us and create to be part of this. Absolutely. And the

:37:59. > :38:01.captain of the women's team, a difficult campaign for your team and

:38:02. > :38:05.under difficult circumstances, but what have you learned? Obviously it

:38:06. > :38:15.has been difficult, but the result and losing one of our own players,

:38:16. > :38:21.Elli, which was obviously heartbreaking for us. But the girls

:38:22. > :38:31.put in hard work. They should be really proud of what date it and how

:38:32. > :38:35.well the got on. Absolutely. And now, you and your boys are looking

:38:36. > :38:40.forward to a junior World Cup in June. And then back to training?

:38:41. > :38:45.Yeah, after a positive campaign, the boys are looking for the two full

:38:46. > :38:52.weeks of rest and recovery. Tough condition to appear in the summer.

:38:53. > :38:57.The training will be high-intensity. Good luck. And finally, a World Cup

:38:58. > :39:05.for you? You must be looking forward to? Yes. I think are set pieces are

:39:06. > :39:11.phenomenal and our backs we just need to work on our clinical edge.

:39:12. > :39:16.We have a few months of hard work for the World Cup and are looking

:39:17. > :39:23.forward to it. We all wish you the very best for that. Thanks, guys.

:39:24. > :39:26.Let's catch up with the rest of the Six Nations action. All matches were

:39:27. > :39:27.played yesterday and it all kicked off at BT Murrayfield, where

:39:28. > :39:45.Scotland faced Italy. COMMENTATOR: Dunbar in the centre

:39:46. > :39:51.and it is Russell for a try! And Scotland eventually breached the

:39:52. > :39:58.Italian defence is! Advantage Scotland. Italy are one man down in

:39:59. > :40:04.defence. Fuser is receiving treatment. And Scotland are showing

:40:05. > :40:20.no mercy of the moment. Ali Price goes for the kick. Berkeley feeds it

:40:21. > :40:38.onto Russell. How will it bounce? This bearing down on it. And there.

:40:39. > :40:52.A try for Tommy Seymour! Four for Scotland.

:40:53. > :41:09.Again, Ireland with the drive. They're very close.

:41:10. > :41:26.Rory Best teaming up and Maro Itoje is transgressed here.

:41:27. > :41:36.REFEREE: Offside. COMMENTATOR: It's a long way out but

:41:37. > :41:43.that is a monstrous kick. Just feverish defence. Still, England

:41:44. > :41:45.deep inside their half but a knock-on from Mike Brown heralds the

:41:46. > :41:53.end. WHISTLE And now Ireland bring

:41:54. > :42:00.England crashing to earth, just as they did six years ago and Ireland

:42:01. > :42:05.have the victory. So, Dylan Hartley steps forward to

:42:06. > :42:14.receive the RBS Six Nations trophy. The Championship is theirs. But

:42:15. > :42:19.bittersweet emotions. A first defeat as England captain today and a first

:42:20. > :42:23.defeat under Eddie Jones and that record equalling run props to a

:42:24. > :42:32.shuddering halt by a passionate green machine in Dublin.

:42:33. > :42:37.STUDIO: So, there it is, the 2017 Six Nations is over. England won the

:42:38. > :42:41.championship but missed out on the Grand Slam, Ireland spoiling the

:42:42. > :42:47.party in spectacular fashion. France back to third place, their best

:42:48. > :42:50.finish for quite some time. First top three finish since 2011 and

:42:51. > :43:00.Wales, conversely, their worst finish since 2007. So, Adam, no

:43:01. > :43:01.Grand Slam for England? That's good, isn't it?

:43:02. > :43:19.LAUGHTER CHEERING AND APPLAUSE I cannot wait to go into training

:43:20. > :43:24.tomorrow at Harlequins. I spoke to some of them and they

:43:25. > :43:28.were disappointed but they feel it is a weight off their shoulders all

:43:29. > :43:33.but the winning streak has gone and they can crack on. It would have

:43:34. > :43:39.been harder if they had won it to go back to training. The atmosphere in

:43:40. > :43:43.Ireland was incredible yesterday. Ireland looked like a different team

:43:44. > :43:49.to the one at principality Stadium, how much better wording is we can?

:43:50. > :43:55.They were outstanding. That's the one they wanted to win and obviously

:43:56. > :43:59.for so many reasons. And, for the record, not having the Grand Slam,

:44:00. > :44:05.but they delivered, in fairness, they were missing so many players,

:44:06. > :44:10.so many distractions that could have affected them but did not and I

:44:11. > :44:13.think they pulled it out of the bag. Why? That is what has been terrific

:44:14. > :44:20.casting about this Six Nations is that any team the ability to beat

:44:21. > :44:27.any other on any given day. The sad thing is we have to wait another

:44:28. > :44:33.year for it to come round. Sometimes, the gods intervene. Jamie

:44:34. > :44:36.Heaslip, who was anonymous, tweaks a hamstring before kick-off. Peter

:44:37. > :44:43.O'Mahony comes in and played a blinder. Absolute blinder, and you

:44:44. > :44:48.think, he has to go on the Lions tour. But not just that, I thought

:44:49. > :44:56.Henderson is a colossal player in the making. He had been dropped from

:44:57. > :45:01.the game and he has that priceless quality to be able to play blindside

:45:02. > :45:05.is, a terrific player who made all the difference yesterday. It is just

:45:06. > :45:10.the tournament's never-ending capacity to surprise us. Just as I

:45:11. > :45:12.did not think Wales would get back from the Scottish surrender, I

:45:13. > :45:16.didn't really think Ireland would get back from what they had suffered

:45:17. > :45:22.here. Which is pretty demoralising. I feel like I want to cry now. The

:45:23. > :45:26.competition is over. The Six Nations done and dusted for another year but

:45:27. > :45:32.there is a small matter of a Lions tour to look forward to. Who has

:45:33. > :45:36.played their way in and out selection? Wales have some fabulous

:45:37. > :45:42.individual player who are a shoo-in for the Lions but we have some as

:45:43. > :45:51.well. For me, Alun Wyn Jones, is one of those shoo-in is. In everything

:45:52. > :45:56.that he does. The physicality, the brute strength, presence, really

:45:57. > :46:03.makes players around him respond. He tackles and earns respect from all

:46:04. > :46:10.players. Sam Morgan, criticised before, but physicality is one thing

:46:11. > :46:14.but he is also a ball carrier, he has been rejuvenated and has proven

:46:15. > :46:23.he is a test animal. We know what he is like so a likely test starter.

:46:24. > :46:27.That's Sam Warburton. Now, George North, who has been criticised, but

:46:28. > :46:30.he is the physical animal that we know Warren Gatland likes. His

:46:31. > :46:35.performance against Ireland was truly sublime as it was packed his

:46:36. > :46:39.try scoring best. On top form, likely to start in the first Test

:46:40. > :46:45.match. One of Wales's best players have been Rhys Webb. A guy who has

:46:46. > :46:50.really matured under constant threat around the fringes against every

:46:51. > :46:53.team he has played. He has matured and shown leadership, tactically

:46:54. > :46:56.very astute but it is the determination and attitude that Rhys

:46:57. > :47:00.Webb has shown that really catches the eye. He has superseded Conor

:47:01. > :47:08.Murray as the favourite for test spot. And here's the man you just

:47:09. > :47:12.cannot ignore. Justin Tipuric is literally all over the place, his

:47:13. > :47:16.physicality, he has answered all his critics in this championship. In

:47:17. > :47:24.tandem with Sam Warburton, probably the best partnership on the flank.

:47:25. > :47:27.Justin Tipuric should be on the plane to New Zealand. Ian Williams

:47:28. > :47:38.has done little wrong and has proven he can play full-back. Taulupe

:47:39. > :47:45.Faletau is one of the's favourites. Ken Owens has been supremely

:47:46. > :47:49.consistent. He could help the Lions squad and this is not to everybody's

:47:50. > :47:53.liking but Dan Biggar has surely earned some credibility and a chance

:47:54. > :48:00.to go to New Zealand. Lots of positives for Wales! Thank you. Pubs

:48:01. > :48:03.have been doing a her mother but it is going to get more serious now.

:48:04. > :48:15.Shame, you have picked yours, talk us it. I think McGrath has been

:48:16. > :48:28.superb for Ireland. They have certainly kept the scrum together.

:48:29. > :48:32.Superb this Six Nations. Alun Wyn Jones, has played well, Warburton,

:48:33. > :48:36.again, he has had that captaincy taken off him but I think he has

:48:37. > :48:43.been superb. He seems reborn in the way he is playing. Justin Tipuric,

:48:44. > :48:47.he is one of my favourites. We haven't seen much of Billy Vunipola

:48:48. > :48:53.but I think he is a classic and a player on the front foot. Webb has

:48:54. > :48:59.been great at nine and Sexton superb against England yesterday, really

:49:00. > :49:04.running the show defensively. North has drifted in and out of games but

:49:05. > :49:11.he was superb against Ireland. Owen Farrell, probably one of the players

:49:12. > :49:15.of the tournament. Second distributor there which might work

:49:16. > :49:20.in New Zealand. Joseph hasn't had much game time but almost a winner

:49:21. > :49:26.in the centre. Same with Watson, a good player that we haven't seen

:49:27. > :49:32.much of and Hawk, probably the most dangerous back the Lions could have.

:49:33. > :49:36.I nearly put Williams in that 15 because he has played exceptionally

:49:37. > :49:48.well on the wing but for me, Liam Williams as a full-back but Hogg

:49:49. > :49:59.just does it. OK, what about your selection? Six Welsh men, Adam? The

:50:00. > :50:07.pack, I would go along with, maybe not the captain. A bit like Robshaw

:50:08. > :50:17.with England. I would like Liam Williams. I think if he was there,

:50:18. > :50:25.15, a little bit safer than Hogg. Defensively. Are you would probably

:50:26. > :50:40.like that but that is probably not a bad show. As APPLAUSE I'm just glad

:50:41. > :50:52.he is happy with my front row. We were talking about elevation and

:50:53. > :51:06.he has slipped under the radar. Furlong, number one at the moment?

:51:07. > :51:12.Yes, Vunipola, there are so many, I don't know if Sampson still has

:51:13. > :51:20.problems with his Achilles. He doesn't seem a destructor. Again, I

:51:21. > :51:26.am biased. I've seen him with the Quins and he has that edge. It's not

:51:27. > :51:34.big to be a scrum best out there. I think Sinckler has a decent chance.

:51:35. > :51:39.Peter, no Irish back row? CJ has had a fantastic tournament. Would you go

:51:40. > :51:45.along with Shane's back row options? Phobia for me to take Shane's team

:51:46. > :51:52.apart because he has 64 tests which is 60 for more than I will ever get.

:51:53. > :51:56.But... Shane, I would have Maro Itoje in second round, he has a

:51:57. > :52:07.phenomenal player. I would have him in. A stinker yesterday, though?

:52:08. > :52:12.Yes, as did Farrell, arguably the player of the tournament. At six,

:52:13. > :52:25.Henderson or raw money. I noticed fresh in the mind from yesterday but

:52:26. > :52:31.I think he made such a difference. It's tough on Justin Tipuric but

:52:32. > :52:37.scrum-half I would have Conor Murray. He edges it for me over Rhys

:52:38. > :52:40.Webb. Outside centre, Elliot Daly in preference to Jonathan Joseph

:52:41. > :52:50.because he has a better kicking game. I think he is a really smart

:52:51. > :53:01.rugby player. Do you need two kicking centres, the? Always handy,

:53:02. > :53:06.left and right. Adam knows all about kicking. It is interesting Warren

:53:07. > :53:10.Gatland has the late election until 2019, so means he takes any

:53:11. > :53:16.Champions Cup, quarterfinals, and semi-finals and you have some coming

:53:17. > :53:20.back, George Kruis, the Saracens lock, Scottish tight head, with a

:53:21. > :53:31.bit of luck, who is to say they will not get in? His neck has been pretty

:53:32. > :53:40.bad for a while. He would have been on the plane, I think. James? Liam

:53:41. > :53:59.Williams, I think Vunipola, so many quality players. Toby Faletau for

:54:00. > :54:02.me. He's got time. With Sexton, and Owen Farrell, they need the two I

:54:03. > :54:08.would choose but Gatlin with the game plan, will he go for them? A

:54:09. > :54:14.battering ram? But I would def on the go with Sexton and Farrell.

:54:15. > :54:20.Those that do not make the Lions will hopefully be going on tour,

:54:21. > :54:25.some of the more senior players, but even rating in one of the papers

:54:26. > :54:31.today saying Davies has to start regardless of the Lions. I think now

:54:32. > :54:36.is the time. It is the perfect opportunity for youngsters coming

:54:37. > :54:40.through. Sam Davies has proved his worth for the Ospreys for some time

:54:41. > :54:43.when he has played for Wales, he played exceptionally well. It's

:54:44. > :54:47.difficult not to give him that opportunity. He has almost deserved

:54:48. > :54:52.that as have other players who have played well for their regions and

:54:53. > :54:55.clubs. There is the perfect opportunity, these tours, to get

:54:56. > :54:58.game time and bring confidence back the league and who knows? Who knows?

:54:59. > :55:02.Who knows whether Sam Davies would be starting in the next Six Nations?

:55:03. > :55:08.We don't know. We will have to wait and see. Adam, really desperate to

:55:09. > :55:17.see any Welsh jersey? I think I would like to see Dylan Lewis. I

:55:18. > :55:24.thought he would come through a couple of years back. Great athlete,

:55:25. > :55:27.good ballplayer. I'd like to see him come through, instead of some of the

:55:28. > :55:36.guys ahead of him already. I won't name names.

:55:37. > :55:44.LAUGHTER Another one for me, Beck, I think he offers a kicking game, a

:55:45. > :55:47.passing game. They think that's something we need

:55:48. > :55:52.to. I'd like to see him back in there. I don't know whether he has

:55:53. > :55:56.had injury issues. He is fit at the moment. It could be the answer to

:55:57. > :56:04.what we were talking about earlier, James, the lack of creativity in the

:56:05. > :56:12.Welsh field? Yes. If it's not going quite red, bring the player on and

:56:13. > :56:22.like Shane used to do, in fairness, and... We have 30 seconds, name some

:56:23. > :56:30.players you want to see on tour. Shane should have had his

:56:31. > :56:38.opportunity... I agree with Beck, Olly Cracknell, Thomas Young, Owen

:56:39. > :56:42.Williams, give him a go, I'm not saying he's going to be good enough

:56:43. > :56:46.but try him. There is a lot more to be learned from a Welsh perspective

:56:47. > :56:50.in the South Sea Islands this summer and there will be from the capital

:56:51. > :56:52.Lions in New Zealand. Really interesting. Another great show.

:56:53. > :57:01.Shane Williams, everyone! CHEERING AND APPLAUSE Adam Jones!

:57:02. > :57:09.Peter Jackson! CHEERING AND APPLAUSE And thank you

:57:10. > :57:15.to you for watching at home. That is all from Scrum V. There is a

:57:16. > :57:19.Facebook live straight afterwards. It was not to be for Wales this year

:57:20. > :58:21.but plenty of thrills and spills along the way... Good night.

:58:22. > :59:20.MUSIC: Oh No! by Marina and The Diamonds

:59:21. > :59:23.The 24-year-old man has been charged with murder.

:59:24. > :59:25.You made sure an innocent man is charged!

:59:26. > :59:27.What gives you the right to say that he's innocent?

:59:28. > :59:34.If police wrongdoing is part of this, I want to know.

:59:35. > :59:40.Huntley's definitely hiding something.
