:00:17. > :00:28.Webb shows his strength and he is over. And the Ospreys are running

:00:29. > :00:33.away with it. Tom James goes all the way himself. And that is a superb

:00:34. > :00:46.try for the Blues. Brilliant breakaway. They have with bin finish

:00:47. > :00:50.the difficult places to go but this weekend, the Ospreys and Cardiff

:00:51. > :00:54.Blues have done just that. Gareth Thomas and Phil Davies are our

:00:55. > :00:58.guests this evening. We would be talking premises, Pro12 and the

:00:59. > :01:07.Lions. We start with a trip to the Galway sports ground. Bradley Davies

:01:08. > :01:14.was one of three changes to the Ospreys along with scrum-half Rhys

:01:15. > :01:18.Webb. After hat-trick of tries last week, Sam Parry kept his placed

:01:19. > :01:32.header Scott Baldwin. Connacht made four changes.

:01:33. > :01:46.COMMENTATOR: Webb shows his strength and he is over. You really can't

:01:47. > :01:49.afford to give that man much space. Bradley Davies, as you would expect,

:01:50. > :02:04.making a nuisance of himself in the middle. He comes in and clears out.

:02:05. > :02:20.Jack Carthy doubles his scores and that of Connacht. Still they keep

:02:21. > :02:27.coming. Dillane, it is an opportunity. And they deserve that

:02:28. > :02:43.for the excellent build-up, well controlled by the half-backs. Just

:02:44. > :02:50.what the Ospreys needed. An opportunity, though hesitation in

:02:51. > :02:55.going for the sticks. -- no hesitation. Solid strike and that

:02:56. > :02:59.was a very important kick for the Ospreys. Webb organising, James

:03:00. > :03:25.stands off and weights. He goes to the left-hand side.

:03:26. > :03:31.Wrapped up, that is John and can he get away? He is being chased by

:03:32. > :03:38.Healy but he does exceptionally well, what a great tackle. Rhys Webb

:03:39. > :03:51.goes over for his second try and surely you would say that is the

:03:52. > :03:58.type that seals the victory. Looks like they will try and have some fun

:03:59. > :04:13.in the last five minutes. He puts the ball into space. The Ospreys are

:04:14. > :04:18.running away with it. The drive comes over the top. I think the

:04:19. > :04:26.Canadian has done very well. Turned it over. Rhys Webb, kicks it over

:04:27. > :04:39.the dead-ball line. 32-11, four tries, two for Rhys Webb. The

:04:40. > :04:48.backline had accuracy, we stayed with it. Fantastic result for

:04:49. > :04:56.spread, a bonus point for them and the stats tell the story. Best on

:04:57. > :05:00.stats and scoreboard, it seems the Ospreys have undergone a renaissance

:05:01. > :05:06.in the off-season. A disappointing season last year, they have

:05:07. > :05:09.rediscovered their mojo. It was a fantastic victory, not just the

:05:10. > :05:15.actual game but the way they played. For me, what I saw of it, I like the

:05:16. > :05:18.way the back three worked. They all wanted to get their hands on the

:05:19. > :05:23.ball. You could see it went through the whole team. Not just the first

:05:24. > :05:28.touch but the second, looking for the ball. They are on a high at the

:05:29. > :05:34.moment, a confident team and with the players they have, a dangerous

:05:35. > :05:38.team. It is all about attitude and Galway, you have to impose yourself

:05:39. > :05:42.early and Ospreys did exactly that. What impressed me, they know that

:05:43. > :05:48.Connacht were hurting from the first game. They set about moving the ball

:05:49. > :05:52.and keeping the ball and the ball control generally was excellent in

:05:53. > :05:59.the first 15 or 20 minutes, they dominated possession. They kept the

:06:00. > :06:04.ball, as you can see here, coming over the halfway line and keeping

:06:05. > :06:11.it. That took the Connacht mojo away from them if you like. Webb as we

:06:12. > :06:16.know is a great scrum-half in terms of playing the forwards around the

:06:17. > :06:20.corner. They kept the ball. They had a few turnovers but then they were

:06:21. > :06:24.challenging in the line-out. In act-macro in that first 20 minutes

:06:25. > :06:30.could not get a foothold in the game. It was a great turnover and a

:06:31. > :06:34.great pass and they kept the ball. If you are coming off the back of a

:06:35. > :06:40.bad loss, you want to start with a bang. Rhys Webb and Sam Davies are

:06:41. > :06:44.two of the best generals, game management is critical playing away

:06:45. > :06:48.from home. We made the point last week that even when the game was out

:06:49. > :06:53.of sight, they didn't chuck the ball around, they stuck to their plan.

:06:54. > :07:01.Connacht started the second half quite well. They scored. This is the

:07:02. > :07:04.Ospreys coming back. Rhys Webb is highlighted. What I liked about

:07:05. > :07:10.this, great driving control but not a big kick. Eight dink over the top

:07:11. > :07:17.which made their defender work hard to get back. It made the full-back

:07:18. > :07:24.worked really hard. Sam Davies with a great take. He just can't get

:07:25. > :07:29.there, what a catch. Good control as well by Sam. He is involved,, you

:07:30. > :07:39.have a hooker here who has come out with great skill. Webb pushes

:07:40. > :07:42.himself a bit wider and he pushes it in, the real nugget here was

:07:43. > :07:48.Connacht taking it back into their 22. This allowed Tyler Adler, after

:07:49. > :07:54.a few good phrases, it allowed him to score. That gave him the momentum

:07:55. > :08:01.in the last ten minutes. Good to see him back after most of last year

:08:02. > :08:05.missing through injury. By way of contrast, Connacht, the defending

:08:06. > :08:08.champions, they are bottom of the table, conceding 79 points and ten

:08:09. > :08:14.tries in two games, what has happened? Lou macro it is difficult

:08:15. > :08:17.with expectations, nobody expected them to win the league last year,

:08:18. > :08:22.now they have the back it up. Teams will be more prepared because they

:08:23. > :08:27.are playing the champions. They were out thought, yesterday. You would

:08:28. > :08:29.say go back to the drawing board but that is what they have just done

:08:30. > :08:34.after the pre-season. They can't rewrite everything because they only

:08:35. > :08:39.have a certain amount of time until next week 's game. There has to be

:08:40. > :08:43.something there but as players and coaches, they need to get in a room

:08:44. > :08:48.and find out what it is. Something is missing and only the players know

:08:49. > :08:53.what it is. As the public watch it, I can see the end easy as is not

:08:54. > :08:58.what it was. They had a hand on the ball, it is not the same as it was

:08:59. > :09:03.last year for some reason. May be missing some players more than they

:09:04. > :09:08.thought they would. Congratulations to Ospreys, that win took them top

:09:09. > :09:12.of the Pro12 table. The Blues travel to Cork on Friday night and were

:09:13. > :09:21.able to maintain a move which -- winning start to the season. Gethin

:09:22. > :09:27.Jenkins and Gareth Anscombe were promoted from the bench to the

:09:28. > :09:31.starting line-up. Josh Turnbull made his first start of the season. Sam

:09:32. > :09:34.Warburton's season began on the bench. Two changes for Leinster

:09:35. > :09:49.after winning last week. COMMENTATOR: Superb run by Dan Fish.

:09:50. > :09:54.Tom James is in support of Nick Williams. Good counter by the Blues.

:09:55. > :10:00.Williams has two men on his outside, Dan Fish is one and Cory Allen

:10:01. > :10:08.hasn't quite got it to get through to the corner, good tackle by Rory

:10:09. > :10:15.Scannell puts him out. Anscombe, and fish involved again. Tom James

:10:16. > :10:20.coming up, Tom James goes all the way himself, that is a great score

:10:21. > :10:27.for Tom James and the Blues. They threatened earlier with a counter,

:10:28. > :10:38.this time they finished it off. Jack O'Donoghue, advantage played for

:10:39. > :10:43.offside. Into the 22. Lovely pick-up and the support was there from

:10:44. > :10:51.Andrew Conway. So disappointing for the Blues after the great start, to

:10:52. > :10:58.give away a try like that. There is the tap down. Great run, has support

:10:59. > :11:02.either side, Tom James on the inside. Tom James is too quick for

:11:03. > :11:10.O'Donoghue and that is a great try, a second superb try for Tom James.

:11:11. > :11:14.Tremendous effort from the Blues to keep out Munster, time after time

:11:15. > :11:23.they are knocking at the door. Duncan Williams tries to go

:11:24. > :11:42.underneath. Incredible pressure. He has a go. Kilcoyne has got there.

:11:43. > :11:49.Brilliant play by Matthew Morgan. Well done to Lloyd Williams. It is

:11:50. > :11:54.on for Dan Fish and he can't get over and that is a superb try --

:11:55. > :12:01.canters over. Really it break away and so many good handling skills

:12:02. > :12:07.resulting in a third try. Dan Fish restores the Blues lead in a

:12:08. > :12:10.ding-dong battle. To come here and win, last week was a good

:12:11. > :12:18.performance, we showed you have to have a bench and have real impact

:12:19. > :12:26.there. Huge credit to this group, we have come out with a huge win. Last

:12:27. > :12:32.season, the Blues only won once on the road, and they already have an

:12:33. > :12:36.away win and in Munster. How big a statement? Victory of the weekend.

:12:37. > :12:41.As Danny Wilson said, to back-up last weekend, a very impressive

:12:42. > :12:46.performance. To go somewhere like Munster. Undoubtedly one of the

:12:47. > :12:50.toughest places in Europe to go and come away with a victory is amazing.

:12:51. > :12:54.What I found really impressive was the strength in depth. They brought

:12:55. > :12:58.players off the bench, Sam Warburton came off the bench and did well. And

:12:59. > :13:02.then Matthew Morgan, everybody wanting to see what he can do, one

:13:03. > :13:07.touch lights up the game and he puts Dan Fish in for the winning try.

:13:08. > :13:12.Great confidence going forward. Quite a cameo by Matthew Morgan. You

:13:13. > :13:16.were there in Cork on Friday night. Just before kick-off, the weather

:13:17. > :13:22.conditions were not conducive to running rugby but it cleared up in

:13:23. > :13:26.the back three were on fire. Yes, an investment into the umbrella was

:13:27. > :13:34.great. It was perfect. Dan Fish, as I know from my time, as a coach, he

:13:35. > :13:37.is a great run at the back. The back three were well positioned and

:13:38. > :13:42.alert. And alive to any other opportunity. Lloyd is one of your

:13:43. > :13:49.best scrum-half support players and Daniel Fish comes over for a great

:13:50. > :13:54.try. He had eight refit game. Tom James is coming back to form, great

:13:55. > :14:01.to see him in Wales after his work in Exeter. But like the Blues, they

:14:02. > :14:07.move it wide. Tom can see the mismatch as the Munster prop and

:14:08. > :14:12.hooker are there. He gets over for a great score. For those two or

:14:13. > :14:17.living, they were excellent and very important. Great to see him back,

:14:18. > :14:22.the region's highest try scorer and I think we will see a few more this

:14:23. > :14:25.season. Like with the Ospreys, the Blues not just throwing it around

:14:26. > :14:30.but they had a tactical approach that allowed them to attack with

:14:31. > :14:35.conviction. Absolutely. Their control generally. Was the end of

:14:36. > :14:40.the game, Kristian Dacey is highlighted, the Corner had just

:14:41. > :14:47.come, Munster just coming from a driving line-out. Their discipline

:14:48. > :14:50.there was flat -- fantastic. Working the inside shoulder. They win the

:14:51. > :14:55.penalty and then they get the ball off the top of the line-out. It is

:14:56. > :14:59.good control and set up play. Coming towards the end of the game. Tom

:15:00. > :15:03.Williams with a great kicking cradle, a really high kick and as we

:15:04. > :15:09.saw with Rhys Webb, he pulls the Munster full-back forward. McCoy was

:15:10. > :15:13.outstanding all night, they get a good drive and great control. You

:15:14. > :15:17.can hear Lloyd Williams communicating well with the

:15:18. > :15:23.forwards, orchestrating them to keep the control. They are not going far

:15:24. > :15:27.here. He goes hard. Dan Fish, Cory Allen, clearing out. You can see a

:15:28. > :15:36.plan, there is a real maturity starting to develop. That play gets

:15:37. > :15:40.them the victory. For me, he has created a squad, the depth of squad

:15:41. > :15:47.has improved and there is a growing maturity in the group, I fancy the

:15:48. > :15:51.Blues to have a terrific season. Glasgow are next, who have been on

:15:52. > :15:57.fire for the first two weeks. A cracking victory against Leinster

:15:58. > :16:02.yesterday. Tommy Seymour, Ford tries out of the five they scored

:16:03. > :16:05.altogether. They wed be fazed by what they see at Cardiff Arms Park

:16:06. > :16:14.but Gregor Townsend's men really impressing so far. What will the

:16:15. > :16:18.Blues need to do to step up? Because under a plea this would be the

:16:19. > :16:23.toughest game. It will be, both teams have an intent to play rugby

:16:24. > :16:26.and they are strong defensively. Glasgow, if you turn the ball over

:16:27. > :16:31.and have poor kicks, they will attack with menace. As Tom Seymour

:16:32. > :16:37.shows there, he goes on the broken field and he can score from set

:16:38. > :16:41.plays. It will be important for the Blues, the line-out is going really

:16:42. > :16:46.well. The scrum can improve but he knows that. Get the platform right,

:16:47. > :16:50.the breakdown looks good. And defensively, they really well

:16:51. > :16:54.organised. Graham Steadman has come in and they are well-organised. The

:16:55. > :16:57.tickly the inside shoulder where the defenders are keeping busy.

:16:58. > :17:02.Sometimes Glasgow like to do the switches or the ball back inside and

:17:03. > :17:07.the Blues will just be ready. Looking forward to that one.

:17:08. > :17:11.Speaking of tasty ties, the West Wales derby was probably the pick of

:17:12. > :17:21.the round in the Premiership this weekend.

:17:22. > :17:27.The sun was shining on Carmarthen Park as Llanelli arrive for the

:17:28. > :17:30.first local derby of the season. On a perfect day for rugby, they were

:17:31. > :17:34.looking to keep that winning feeling. The head coaches share an

:17:35. > :17:41.office, who would be enjoying their day in the sun? COMMENTATOR: Lee

:17:42. > :17:48.Williams making his way. A quick ball for Connor Lloyd. He finds

:17:49. > :17:55.Evans, beautiful hands by Myhill. And Osborne finishes it off with

:17:56. > :18:05.beautiful handling. The inside ball to Lee Williams and gliding over.

:18:06. > :18:14.Quins looking to move it again. Inside two Connor Lloyd. And the

:18:15. > :18:22.scrum-half with a handoff finishes that one. That is the third. Lee

:18:23. > :18:28.Williams again with a scuttle inside. To the post, Lee Williams

:18:29. > :18:40.for the second and that is the bonus point as well. Nathan Edwards will

:18:41. > :18:52.just about make it. Here is Gethin Robinson on the loose. Clancy back

:18:53. > :18:59.inside. Under the sticks to finish it off. We are progressing to a

:19:00. > :19:04.wider game and using the set piece as a platform to play. We put a lot

:19:05. > :19:08.of work into it, the boys have done a lot themselves. Coaching staff

:19:09. > :19:14.have been brilliant. It is good to see the hard work and the new things

:19:15. > :19:21.trying coming. It was billed as the battle between the Thomas Brothers

:19:22. > :19:33.and it was Sam who came out on top. They took an early 11-0 lead. Life

:19:34. > :19:38.back in the Premiership isn't easy for Swansea, suffering the second

:19:39. > :19:42.successive home defeat. Aberavon ran in seven tries. Jack Perkins was

:19:43. > :19:51.shown a red card full and late tackle. Another high-scoring match

:19:52. > :19:55.as there were another seven tries, securing a bonus point by half-time.

:19:56. > :20:02.It was the visitors worst league defeat for six years. Last season,

:20:03. > :20:06.Cross Keys did the double over Bridgend but this time the ravens

:20:07. > :20:11.came out on top as they came from behind to secure their first win of

:20:12. > :20:17.the season. Cross Keys is the only Premiership team without a point so

:20:18. > :20:24.far. A second away win on the trot for our GC shows they are a force to

:20:25. > :20:30.be reckoned with. One of four unbeaten teams in the league. On the

:20:31. > :20:39.breed game was postponed. -- Pontypridd.

:20:40. > :20:47.Lee Jarvis was on the show last week after Murphy opened their account,

:20:48. > :20:53.Mark Jones is we, the Head Coach. They are currently third in the

:20:54. > :20:57.league, two from two, one of four teams undefeated. The new boys

:20:58. > :21:03.looking to bloody some noses. It has been a good start. Probably Bridgend

:21:04. > :21:07.and Neath in the last couple of seasons have had the most

:21:08. > :21:11.transition. They are more evenly matched in some of the more

:21:12. > :21:16.established teams. You can't fault the effort, they are put a lot of

:21:17. > :21:21.hard work into key areas and it has paid off. We know the legal split

:21:22. > :21:28.into two conferences after 15 rounds. Ambitions of the new teams

:21:29. > :21:32.will have been to just survive. But serious ambitions to make that top

:21:33. > :21:36.eight now. We have not made any targets, we are just establishing

:21:37. > :21:41.the side in the division in terms of our brand of rugby. The style of

:21:42. > :21:46.play we are going to try and implement and test that each week.

:21:47. > :21:51.To be successful, you need consistency in your execution. What

:21:52. > :21:55.we have shown is that we are able to sustain error-free rugby for large

:21:56. > :21:59.periods. We need to put some sparkle into key areas that we have the

:22:00. > :22:05.players who can do it. You live in Neath, can you show your face? You

:22:06. > :22:08.may quit it was an interesting afternoon, that is the beauty of it,

:22:09. > :22:13.you get to travel round the local clubs in South Wales which is great.

:22:14. > :22:18.And a sabbatical to North Wales once a week as well to hopefully get a

:22:19. > :22:22.couple of good performances in front of the home crowd. We are well

:22:23. > :22:27.supported at the moment with buses coming down on a regular basis and

:22:28. > :22:30.hopefully we can take this form back to North Wales next weekend. A dream

:22:31. > :22:37.start for you and long may it continue. Phil Davies was involved

:22:38. > :22:42.until last season, I am sure he will take some of the credit. Back to the

:22:43. > :22:50.Pro12 and the Dragons welcomed zebra to Rodney Parade.

:22:51. > :22:59.Thomas Davies made his debut with Lewis Evans returning to bolster the

:23:00. > :23:03.back row. Moss and Morgan also made their first starts of the season.

:23:04. > :23:12.After losing by 50 points last week against Ospreys, zebra rocked up

:23:13. > :23:20.having never won there. And all of the scoring came in the first half,

:23:21. > :23:27.two penalties each. The only joy came from the Dragons. Howard, his

:23:28. > :23:31.second in two matches. His side are up and running, no such thing as a

:23:32. > :23:37.bad win and all that but they need to get better. It is important we

:23:38. > :23:41.get a win, we tried to play a different way and that came through

:23:42. > :23:46.but we overplayed. We made too many errors. Our set piece is not quite

:23:47. > :23:54.where it should be. Ultimately there was a chance to get a bonus point

:23:55. > :23:59.win. We failed to do it. No such thing as a bad win, the Dragons were

:24:00. > :24:05.desperate for one, their first victory in the league since January.

:24:06. > :24:10.But far from convincing. I spoke to him last week and he said they

:24:11. > :24:13.wanted to play a new brand of rugby and try and throw it around a bit

:24:14. > :24:19.more. When you have younger players, they are not sure when to do that.

:24:20. > :24:25.As he alluded to, a bit of overplaying. I love the fact they

:24:26. > :24:29.are going to have a go but they have to learn to be able to build solid

:24:30. > :24:34.performances from good fundamentals. The set piece is something they need

:24:35. > :24:39.to improve and that will be a focus for them. The intent is there to

:24:40. > :24:43.play and that is the key thing. Scoreless in the second half, that

:24:44. > :24:47.is quite an ordeal for the spectators. We talk about attracting

:24:48. > :24:51.more spectators to this Lee, a scoreless second half is not the way

:24:52. > :24:56.to go. As a Dragons fan, you would have been expecting to see more

:24:57. > :25:03.tries. Zebra for all of their effort are properly one of the worst teams

:25:04. > :25:06.in the league. If they can't implement the game plan against

:25:07. > :25:10.zebra, are they going to be able to do it against the better teams in

:25:11. > :25:18.the league? Will they be able to play that way this year. It does

:25:19. > :25:26.scare me but you look at it and hope that through a victory, they can

:25:27. > :25:31.gain confidence. The manner of the victory, you can sit there and

:25:32. > :25:35.analyse it after, you can't say what you achieved. Munster next for the

:25:36. > :25:39.Dragons and they have a week to try and improve things. We will let you

:25:40. > :25:43.know how they get on but we will try something different now. At a time

:25:44. > :25:48.when many grassroots clubs are struggling we have visited one West

:25:49. > :25:55.Wales village the club has been reborn, 16 years after disappearing

:25:56. > :25:58.altogether. Friday evening and we finished work for the week. While

:25:59. > :26:02.most 21 euros would be thinking about going out and having fun,

:26:03. > :26:07.Nathan Jones has other priorities as he makes the 50 minute journey from

:26:08. > :26:16.his home to ferry side rugby club. He happens to be player, coach, club

:26:17. > :26:24.secretary, you name it, he probably does it. What motivates young blood

:26:25. > :26:29.to get involved so dramatically like this? As a teenager coming down to

:26:30. > :26:34.ferry side, this rugby pitch and the club was like a ghost town. The

:26:35. > :26:39.unfortunate passing of Evans, he was a legend, it gave an opportunity to

:26:40. > :26:45.get the team back together to play once a year. Since then, we have had

:26:46. > :26:50.two games and it has grown since then. We managed to get a team in

:26:51. > :26:57.the league now and hopefully we will be successful. It does get stressful

:26:58. > :27:00.but I get a massive buzz out of it and I can't complain. It is a

:27:01. > :27:10.feeling of giving something back to such a small community. I've got to

:27:11. > :27:13.give him all the help he can get, he gets ahead of himself sometimes.

:27:14. > :27:18.Saying that he can't do this, the things he can do everything but he

:27:19. > :27:23.can't. You have to have support and you have to get the community to

:27:24. > :27:27.support as well. In November and the pitch is wet, you lose one, maybe

:27:28. > :27:32.another and the injuries mount up, that is where the difficulty comes

:27:33. > :27:37.in, are you prepared for that? That is when they call me on as a super

:27:38. > :27:45.sub at 55. The sport has been my life. Is that why there is a

:27:46. > :27:50.paramedic bag? You must be proud and pleased to see them back up and

:27:51. > :28:00.playing again. I am pleased there is a team here. What would you do

:28:01. > :28:08.without rugby this Chamakh there is no point or anything, is there? What

:28:09. > :28:13.has it been like for the last 16 years without a team? It has been

:28:14. > :28:17.sad because we had a good team. I am pleased the boys have got together

:28:18. > :28:22.and we will have the team and ferry side is on the map. A big day and

:28:23. > :28:34.you are excited because your fella is playing. Stuart, number three.

:28:35. > :28:43.They are your local rivals, but I go happy to see Ferryside I?

:28:44. > :28:46.Absolutely. I live in Ferryside. There is great support today.

:28:47. > :28:51.Hopefully it will continue. It is always good to see a any club that

:28:52. > :29:00.has unfortunately disbanded, to see them coming back. It has been hard

:29:01. > :29:05.work to put aside together today. We have used 18-year-olds. Do you think

:29:06. > :29:08.it will keep going? Hopefully, if we get the support, the community get

:29:09. > :29:16.behind them, hopefully they can sustain it. Over the men. All of the

:29:17. > :29:21.hard work for the last seven weeks, it has shown. This was probably our

:29:22. > :29:25.toughest test this season. We have eight or nine players eyed. For boys

:29:26. > :29:32.to come in and do a job like today, I cannot see any more. -- cannot

:29:33. > :29:34.say. There are few things

:29:35. > :29:36.as exciting in international rugby than the prospect

:29:37. > :29:37.of And on Wednesday, world rugby's

:29:38. > :29:40.worst kept secret was finally out when Warren Gatland was revealed

:29:41. > :29:51.as the head coach for next summer's Ladies and gentlemen, it is my

:29:52. > :29:56.privilege as tour manager to announce that the head coach for the

:29:57. > :30:04.2017 British and Irish Lions tour to New Zealand is Warren Gatland. One

:30:05. > :30:08.of the things are about the Lions, is the tradition and ethos, taking

:30:09. > :30:12.part in community things, charity things, making sure we embrace the

:30:13. > :30:18.communities as well. If we do that and have some open training

:30:19. > :30:22.sessions, get out to the schools and hospitals, the New Zealanders will

:30:23. > :30:26.massively respect that. If we play some good rugby, they will be

:30:27. > :30:32.parochial, they will not allow us anything and get behind their team,

:30:33. > :30:35.but if an Lions team goes there and plays good rugby, they will love

:30:36. > :30:41.that and it will respect and get behind the Lions as well. That is

:30:42. > :30:46.our challenge. One man who knows all about the enormity of the challenges

:30:47. > :30:50.the 2005 Lions captain Gareth Thomas. Warren Gatland making an

:30:51. > :30:55.interesting point. Australia, you can hide from the scrutiny, but they

:30:56. > :31:01.New Zealand, it is a Rugby nation. You have got to manage the pressure.

:31:02. > :31:06.Yes, the pressure and the expectancy. It is the most difficult

:31:07. > :31:10.place in the world to play rugby. Let alone the itinerary they have.

:31:11. > :31:15.You have got to be respectful. You have got to be respectful of what

:31:16. > :31:19.you are about as a rugby player and a British line steam. You're going

:31:20. > :31:27.there to be successful. Not many teams have done it. There is lots of

:31:28. > :31:31.psychology. You have to be strong physically but mentally. Talking of

:31:32. > :31:35.the brutality of the itinerary and the challenge that awaits them, look

:31:36. > :31:41.at the schedule. It has been dubbed Mission impossible by some people.

:31:42. > :31:45.Ten games, all five super rugby teams, I match against the

:31:46. > :31:50.Barbarians, I match against the New Zealand Maoris. Not to mention the

:31:51. > :31:55.three tests. Where do you stand on this? This will make it even harder

:31:56. > :32:00.and preparation time will be a bare minimum? It is an unbelievably

:32:01. > :32:06.difficult schedule. It is almost 15-0 to New Zealand because they

:32:07. > :32:12.have set this up. In 2005, what I encountered, quickly we had to get

:32:13. > :32:15.the midweek team and the test team. A display to divide in the camp.

:32:16. > :32:21.With the schedule this line steam has, he will have to do the same.

:32:22. > :32:25.There is no way you can go back to back against the super franchises.

:32:26. > :32:29.They are like international teams. You cannot prepare for a test in

:32:30. > :32:33.between. New Zealand have been shrewd in the way they have said to

:32:34. > :32:38.Warren Gatland, how are you going to handle this? Are you going to split

:32:39. > :32:41.the camp, you will have a midweek team are testing? Will you keep

:32:42. > :33:04.everyone together? It is a strange atmosphere when you

:33:05. > :33:07.split the teams. That is something that Warren Gatland probably does

:33:08. > :33:10.not want to do. Can you first see a smaller squad. It was a 45 man squad

:33:11. > :33:13.with you guys under Clive Woodward? It was too big. I think he will try

:33:14. > :33:15.and take a smaller squad. When you look at the schedule after a

:33:16. > :33:18.difficult season, the Premiership, PRO12, guys will be tired. By the

:33:19. > :33:22.end of the tour, Clive was trying to first see that he would not bring

:33:23. > :33:27.players in. You try to take everyone together. If he takes a smaller

:33:28. > :33:31.party, people will have to fly over. They will have to get over the jet

:33:32. > :33:36.lag and a routine. It is easier if you have them there with you, ready

:33:37. > :33:41.and prepared. Who will be the captain? There are three main

:33:42. > :33:48.contenders. That may change with the autumn internationals and the Six

:33:49. > :33:50.Nations. Alun Wyn Jones, Sam Warburton, the incumbent Lions

:33:51. > :33:55.captain, and Dylan Hartley, who has recently captained England to a

:33:56. > :33:59.Grand Slam and a 3-0 whitewash in Australia. Who would you pay? They

:34:00. > :34:08.are all good leaders and they will all play a big role in whether the

:34:09. > :34:11.tour is successful. For me, I would go for Dylan Hartley. We talk about

:34:12. > :34:15.the mental and physical edge. What Dylan Hartley has is experience of

:34:16. > :34:19.beating the try nation teams, being part of an England team that has

:34:20. > :34:23.gone to Australia and has defeated them. Warren Gatland has knowledge

:34:24. > :34:27.as a New Zealander. You want knowledge from people who want to

:34:28. > :34:33.beat these teams. Not just out to be one of them, but how to beat them.

:34:34. > :34:38.Gareth Thomas selects Dylan Hartley, the Englishman. That is his captain.

:34:39. > :34:43.I'm sure there will be a backlash on social media. Rob Howley has stepped

:34:44. > :34:47.into the breach to fill the vacancy left by Warren Gatland as head

:34:48. > :34:52.coach. His hands will be tied to a degree by the imposition of the

:34:53. > :34:59.so-called Gatland's Law. We are working hard, trying to keep players

:35:00. > :35:03.in Wales. It was going to be tougher Rob and myself. The selection

:35:04. > :35:06.policy, there will be big names that will miss out in the autumn, in

:35:07. > :35:14.terms of not being involved in the squad. It will be quite dramatic.

:35:15. > :35:18.The Six Nations will be tough. In Warren Gatland's words, dramatic.

:35:19. > :35:22.That was on Wednesday, Friday, the list of the seven players captured

:35:23. > :35:27.by Gatland's Law was published. Those players playing their rugby

:35:28. > :35:36.outside of Wales. He only has three wild card picks. Those are the

:35:37. > :35:40.seven. We talked on Friday night about who might be missing out. I

:35:41. > :35:45.guess Rhys Priestland, because he is not number one for club or country

:35:46. > :35:51.any more, he will probably be one of the four big names to make side. You

:35:52. > :35:55.played some of your best rugby in Toulouse. If before you left you had

:35:56. > :35:59.been told that if you're left Toulouse, you would have given up

:36:00. > :36:04.your Wales jersey, would you have thought about it? I would not have

:36:05. > :36:09.gone. Having seen what it was like on the other side, it made me a

:36:10. > :36:13.better person. The four years I spent there, I won the European cup.

:36:14. > :36:17.I would never have done that with any of the teams in Wales. I have

:36:18. > :36:22.played in French championship finals in front of big crowds. I became

:36:23. > :36:27.better as a player. For me, going away was the best thing I ever did.

:36:28. > :36:32.I understand we want to see the players playing in the region but we

:36:33. > :36:36.do not want to hold them back. Without the fans, we have got

:36:37. > :36:41.nothing. We are potentially going to find ourselves in a situation where

:36:42. > :36:45.the Six Nations comes around and we're expecting fans to pay ?80 for

:36:46. > :36:51.a ticket to see a Welsh team that might not be the full strength Welsh

:36:52. > :37:02.team. Is that they are? Not really. I understand what the union are

:37:03. > :37:05.trying to do, but echoing the points of Garrett, the experience he had,

:37:06. > :37:08.for me, you can translate that bike into a better player coming home for

:37:09. > :37:11.the benefit of Wales. I am for the fans as well, who do not see certain

:37:12. > :37:15.players week in, week out. We want to see as many as we can. It is

:37:16. > :37:20.tough. I understand what the union are trying to do but you need your

:37:21. > :37:33.best talent on the field, trying to win test matches. Another debate

:37:34. > :37:36.that will rage on as the autumn approaches. Rob Howley has to pick

:37:37. > :37:37.his first squad, potentially short of some of those players we saw on

:37:38. > :37:40.of some of those players we saw on the list.

:37:41. > :37:42.One more PRO12 game to catch up with this week,

:37:43. > :37:45.and the Scarlets were hoping to recover from their opening

:37:46. > :37:46.round defeat when they travelled to Edinburgh.

:37:47. > :37:51.The Scarlets made seven changes, including Olympic medallist James

:37:52. > :37:57.Davies after his return from the Rio Olympics. His brother returned after

:37:58. > :38:02.a two-year stint in France. Aled Davies replace Gareth Davies at

:38:03. > :38:07.scrum-half. Edinburgh made five changes from last week's defeat.

:38:08. > :38:14.John Hardie returned in the back row. This is an opportunity for the

:38:15. > :38:26.Scarlets to come again. What on earth is John Hardie doing? The

:38:27. > :38:33.right foot deep tech, Patchell. That looks like it might be better. It

:38:34. > :38:43.has just about got there. -- aid is a right footed kick. That will ease

:38:44. > :38:52.the nerves of Scarlets. Ball on the floor. Barclay needs to get out of

:38:53. > :38:58.there. Williams has made a mess of it. There is a mass of dead ball

:38:59. > :39:09.area. Michael Allen has taken full advantage.

:39:10. > :39:21.-- massive. The Scarlets need to be careful. They have started to get

:39:22. > :39:24.ragged. It has been coming. That is brainless play from a man who is a

:39:25. > :39:39.senior player and an international. That is a great price by Jonathan

:39:40. > :39:41.Davies. And the rest of his colleagues in the midfield.

:39:42. > :39:47.Edinburgh have been forced to take. That is a stinker of a kick. It will

:39:48. > :39:57.produce a try. Just what they did not need. Magnus Bradbury, I sigh of

:39:58. > :40:04.relief. Edinburgh get a try in injury time. Here comes Ball. The

:40:05. > :40:10.screen pass around the back. I too Steff Evans. Great defence. The ball

:40:11. > :40:16.is in play. They cannot get it down. Hats off to the Edinburgh defence.

:40:17. > :40:21.Another disappointing defeat for the Scarlets. There is the league table.

:40:22. > :40:25.They are down intense. It has a strange look to it with the

:40:26. > :40:30.defending champions at the bottom. The Ospreys are leading the charge

:40:31. > :40:33.at the top. Garrett, this was the year the Scarlets were supposed to

:40:34. > :40:39.shame, the backline that is supposedly the envy of Europe. Last

:40:40. > :40:43.season the won their first six in a row but they have just lost their

:40:44. > :40:48.first two, their worst ever start in the PRO12. It is quite a shock to

:40:49. > :40:54.see. When you look at the players on the field, talking about Wales and

:40:55. > :40:57.Lions, Lions are about blocking. You play for the region and then you go

:40:58. > :41:04.onto the Lions. Players are in contention for them yet they are not

:41:05. > :41:09.playing well for the region. It is quite surprising. A region like

:41:10. > :41:15.Scarlets, so much expected of them, and yet two game in and they are

:41:16. > :41:21.chasing tales already. Scott Williams went off the page with a

:41:22. > :41:25.fairly nasty facial injury. A quick update, you can see the blood

:41:26. > :41:30.flowing, Scarlets have said he is fine. Six stitches and no

:41:31. > :41:34.concussion. He should be in contention next week. How much are

:41:35. > :41:39.they missing some of those front five players? They are looking

:41:40. > :41:42.underpowered in that department. Rob Evans and Samson Lee are sidelined.

:41:43. > :41:51.That is two thirds of the Welsh front row. Yes, you can name Phil

:41:52. > :41:55.John as well. They are missing, for me they are missing about five

:41:56. > :42:01.players. The more prominent front five forwards. Guys who have left

:42:02. > :42:06.and guys who are injured. It will be a blow for them. In the two games

:42:07. > :42:11.they have had, it is important for the coaching team to work on the

:42:12. > :42:16.basics, get your set piece right, you're kicking game and provide

:42:17. > :42:19.players with certainty, where they can build their confidence in their

:42:20. > :42:24.performance. That will be important going into the next couple of weeks.

:42:25. > :42:30.I think there are going to Ravenhill next weekend. That is the featured

:42:31. > :42:36.game on Scrum V. It is not an easy place to go. They need certainty and

:42:37. > :42:40.simplicity to build confidence. They need to get the front five forwards

:42:41. > :42:45.back as soon as possible. That is the technical things to work on, but

:42:46. > :42:49.from an emotional point of view, they look low on confidence. If you

:42:50. > :42:54.were in the changing room, what would you say? Have a look around.

:42:55. > :42:59.Look at the guy who midfield partner, an international and the

:43:00. > :43:04.British line. Look at your fullback and your blog. They have quality.

:43:05. > :43:08.Someone in the group looks to take ownership of the group and take with

:43:09. > :43:13.them. At the moment, they are looking for a big hitter. I have got

:43:14. > :43:22.to stop you there. We will continue this emotional speech of fear. That

:43:23. > :43:23.is it for Scrum V. Proms In The Park follows on BBC Two Wales. This is

:43:24. > :43:42.something to get you in the mood. That is a great chip and chase. Has

:43:43. > :43:43.he got the legs? He has. Fantastic. Nobody, but nobody is going to get

:43:44. > :44:56.anywhere near him. Hello and welcome to BBC

:44:57. > :45:00.Proms in the Park 2016. We're making history

:45:01. > :45:03.here tonight as this event
