:00:13. > :00:25.As the race for the Pro12 play-offs enters the final straits, the

:00:26. > :00:31.Ospreys trip up at Treviso. Six Nations ended in chaos and

:00:32. > :00:36.confusion, we will find out what the Butler saw. Wales went from caution

:00:37. > :00:41.to full-blown melodrama, that is progress. And speaking of progress,

:00:42. > :00:53.and you team in the cup final as the North continues to rise. RGC the

:00:54. > :01:01.history makers. He might well do it again as he helps steer his old club

:01:02. > :01:07.to next year's bowl final. And we meet a supermum and her two proud

:01:08. > :01:17.boys. From Scrum V, happy Mother's Day. Good evening and happy Mother's

:01:18. > :01:23.Day. We have a packed show. Ian Gough is in the engine room, two

:01:24. > :01:27.fly-halfs to guide us around the park and we will kick off with the

:01:28. > :01:37.Pro12 and the Ospreys' bid to return to the top two. Inches away from the

:01:38. > :01:44.try line, Ospreys defence is desperate. They could do with

:01:45. > :01:50.another turnover year because Treviso like Cel look irresistible.

:01:51. > :02:01.Over the line, the whistle goes, Nigel Owens in no doubt whatsoever.

:02:02. > :02:11.Sam Davies, a lovely off-load. Plenty of space. No one will touch

:02:12. > :02:15.him. A bit of Sam Davies magic. This is the one Ospreys player who has

:02:16. > :02:27.looked threatening all evening and he got a walk in the. There it is.

:02:28. > :02:33.Box-kick. Howells has barely touched the ball this half. Look at Giles

:02:34. > :02:38.go. He is right through the middle. He has put on that after burners.

:02:39. > :02:42.Brendon Leonard on the outside. Sam Davies on his outside. Brendan

:02:43. > :02:47.hasn't got the gas but he mixes we to the try line. A despairing

:02:48. > :02:56.tackle. The ball has gone loose in contact. It has gone to the Italian

:02:57. > :03:00.side and Treviso have been let off the hook after a scintillating

:03:01. > :03:14.counterattack. Now there is time to get the ball away to the foreign

:03:15. > :03:24.words. -- for -- forwards a golden opportunity that went begging.

:03:25. > :03:31.Treviso can sense victory. A 5-point cushion. They will not be doing

:03:32. > :03:41.anything overly adventurous. Round the side. McKinlay has removed his

:03:42. > :03:51.goggles for this attempt. It is good. The flags are up. The clock is

:03:52. > :03:56.now in the raid, the crowd are enthusiastically counting it down.

:03:57. > :04:05.The Ospreys will be condemned to their second ever defeat to Treviso.

:04:06. > :04:07.Ian McKinlay triumphantly hits the ball into touch. The whistle goes

:04:08. > :04:17.and you can see what that means today's players -- Treviso players.

:04:18. > :04:21.I thought we were disastrous and we made things difficult for ourselves.

:04:22. > :04:24.Towards the back end we lost composure. Everything we worked on

:04:25. > :04:30.throughout the season, everything we haven't done, and it is something

:04:31. > :04:32.which is a pretty sombre change. We are pretty embarrassed.

:04:33. > :04:40.He has never anything less than honest. He was furious at the

:04:41. > :04:45.conclusion of that game. You have played with and under him, what

:04:46. > :04:49.would he say in the dressing room? He is known as a grumpy man but a

:04:50. > :04:54.good coach. We have all been involved in those matches, you

:04:55. > :05:00.turned up and you have been undercut out 10% by the opposition you

:05:01. > :05:03.thought you should walk over. He could go in there, I don't think he

:05:04. > :05:05.would have been charging at them because those boys will be

:05:06. > :05:12.devastated and sometimes you need to pick some boys up. Training on

:05:13. > :05:16.Tuesday might be a bit tasty but I think he will try to get the

:05:17. > :05:20.confidence up and do the hard work when he gets back in. Virtually

:05:21. > :05:27.everything went wrong on the night. Their defence has been great this

:05:28. > :05:31.season. Almost from the very first minute the warning signs were there.

:05:32. > :05:37.Normally they come off the line and stop teams for playing, especially

:05:38. > :05:40.Treviso. When you go away to them you know they will come at you. You

:05:41. > :05:49.have to be disciplined and make it hard for them. This is the kick-off

:05:50. > :05:55.of the match. Keep them back at the 22. Suddenly they are away and from

:05:56. > :06:04.this minutes Treviso were just playing. They were not putting

:06:05. > :06:10.pressure, Ospreys. To revise or macro had a quick ball. McKinlay was

:06:11. > :06:17.through on the inside. They are drifting across, not like Ospreys.

:06:18. > :06:23.When they had the ball in attack, silly mistakes. Passing too early,

:06:24. > :06:30.and line-outs were another issue. Whether it was overthrown or under

:06:31. > :06:37.throne. Everything they tried worked against them. They have so many good

:06:38. > :06:42.kickers in the backline with Dan Evans and Sam Davies. There seemed

:06:43. > :06:48.to be a policy of taking it back to Treviso and waiting for them to make

:06:49. > :06:51.errors. But they didn't. It wasn't until the last quarter when they

:06:52. > :06:56.decided to really run the ball back against them and keep possession.

:06:57. > :07:04.Some have suggested that the team was relatively weak. But the 23 that

:07:05. > :07:18.took the field was more than good enough to win away against a revise

:07:19. > :07:31.or macro. -- Treviso. Complacency? It happens. It sometimes happens you

:07:32. > :07:35.just undercook it. The result in Edinburgh was a good Ospreys

:07:36. > :07:39.performance, under the cosh with the defence and everything and they were

:07:40. > :07:41.on the edge. They weren't on the edge and that is disappointing

:07:42. > :07:45.coming to the end of the season when everything is to play for and they

:07:46. > :07:48.want the top two slots, this is a big banana skin. A lot to work on.

:07:49. > :07:56.Training could be tasty. So, the Ospreys losing out

:07:57. > :07:59.in Treviso is a pretty big story. But undoubtedly the biggest story

:08:00. > :08:02.of the week has been the proposed If you did happen to miss it,

:08:03. > :08:14.here's a quick summary. On Friday night, Lewis Evans led the

:08:15. > :08:18.Dragons out on the occasion of his 200th appearance. It was an

:08:19. > :08:23.emotional moment in more ways than one because the Dragons stand on the

:08:24. > :08:26.brink of extinction unless, according to the power brokers, they

:08:27. > :08:33.accept the union's offer of takeover. It is not a set of options

:08:34. > :08:37.which will be tabled. It is a proposal which will either be voted

:08:38. > :08:41.through or not. If it isn't supported then the consequences will

:08:42. > :08:51.need to be understood by all. And those consequences could be no

:08:52. > :08:57.Dragons? Correct. For the deal to happen, 75% of the shareholders have

:08:58. > :09:01.to agree to it. The doubters have understandable fears about handing

:09:02. > :09:05.over their only acid, Rodney Parade, and there are suspicions that they

:09:06. > :09:11.could cut and run if things don't work out. There are those who

:09:12. > :09:16.believe that the union could plan to downgrade Dragons. If we move it to

:09:17. > :09:21.North Wales then we just don't do that. It is a lot of trouble to go

:09:22. > :09:26.to to then move it so we would need, if this would happen, we would need

:09:27. > :09:30.to invest several million in both the transaction and the pitch and

:09:31. > :09:35.stadium and then we should probably squash the development side of it.

:09:36. > :09:40.We are very much trying to put the region back where it belongs, a very

:09:41. > :09:47.proud history. The Dragons' region is the biggest in terms of number of

:09:48. > :09:54.clubs and Gwent has produced some of Wales must -- most celebrated

:09:55. > :09:58.players. Whatever their opinions, there is one of these truth, this is

:09:59. > :09:59.the most significant crossroads the Dragons have arrived that since

:10:00. > :10:11.their inception. Important times in the Dragons. Fast

:10:12. > :10:14.approaching, the volt will happen, we have heard both sides of the

:10:15. > :10:18.argument but the rhetoric seems to be if this isn't voted through then

:10:19. > :10:24.it could be the end of professional rugby in Gwent. From that he would

:10:25. > :10:28.think there has to be only one outcome, the warning signs coming

:10:29. > :10:33.through that there are lots of people against what seems to be the

:10:34. > :10:37.logical step for and lots of reasons why with Newport's history and

:10:38. > :10:44.assets, the ground is so important. We nearly went bust and that was all

:10:45. > :10:48.because of assets and not having a ground. The weight is going at the

:10:49. > :10:51.moment and the chat from Martin Hazel and Stuart Davis is that it

:10:52. > :10:56.doesn't go through they will want their money back and there is only

:10:57. > :11:04.one thing to do, to sell the ground possibly to developers at a lower

:11:05. > :11:06.value. You can understand the reservation of the die-hard Newport

:11:07. > :11:13.fans who are worried about losing Rodney Parade but also likely --

:11:14. > :11:20.ultimately if the receiver is coming they will face financial disaster

:11:21. > :11:23.and the ground could go anyway. They haven't really got any options by

:11:24. > :11:26.the sound of it and if they don't thought it through it will be the

:11:27. > :11:31.end of professional rugby in Gwent and it will be a sad day for Welsh

:11:32. > :11:39.rugby. A lot of conspiracy theories but we mentioned a couple in the

:11:40. > :11:46.piece, people thinking that the WRU's intentions aren't altruistic

:11:47. > :11:52.and it is a smoke screen to... But they have dismissed it as nonsense.

:11:53. > :11:56.You were involved with the Celtic Warriors. We have come a long way.

:11:57. > :12:04.It needs a professional team and professional rugby in Gwent. 70

:12:05. > :12:10.clubs, a huge and very proud region. Massive players have come through

:12:11. > :12:16.the ranks in some years. I imagine some people are stuck in their ways.

:12:17. > :12:26.Every traditional club. They have to have faith that this is what they

:12:27. > :12:33.need to do to get into the next phase then they have to. The chat

:12:34. > :12:38.coming through is that they wanted to be rugby in Gwent. If they get

:12:39. > :12:44.involved then the pitch will be sorted out. We used to win the home

:12:45. > :12:49.games. It was a fortress and that needs to be put back on. It is not

:12:50. > :12:54.happening as it is so I think it is the only way it can happen. They

:12:55. > :12:57.said publicly that they are committed to the long-term future of

:12:58. > :13:01.rugby in Gwent and dismissed the idea that they will take it to North

:13:02. > :13:07.Wales. But there is no provision for a length of tenure at the Dragons

:13:08. > :13:12.and Newport and they would be reassured that said ten or 20 or

:13:13. > :13:15.however many years. I'm sure they will cover themselves as well

:13:16. > :13:20.because they do not know how that will pan out. This is a new thing

:13:21. > :13:23.for anybody and they say it will be a positive thing and the chat from

:13:24. > :13:27.the players, they think it is positive and they wanted to happen

:13:28. > :13:31.because they see things moving forward off the field as well.

:13:32. > :13:36.Structure changes and the amount of players coming in and developing

:13:37. > :13:39.that. We all want the old Newport Dragons to come through and be a

:13:40. > :13:44.real force and they are not at the moment. I think the WRU are slightly

:13:45. > :13:50.careful about committing to anything long-term. But I would be surprised

:13:51. > :13:53.if they were to say what they said now and then a few years say it

:13:54. > :13:59.isn't working and we will move it elsewhere. The WRU are contractually

:14:00. > :14:04.obliged to provide four Welsh regional teams to the Pro12. If this

:14:05. > :14:07.version of the Dragons bites the dust I am hearing they will create a

:14:08. > :14:13.Phoenix from the ashes Dragons and place it in Ebbw Vale and start

:14:14. > :14:20.again almost from scratch. That would set the cat amongst the

:14:21. > :14:26.pigeons. A lot of the Gwent clubs are still seen as Newport Gwent

:14:27. > :14:30.Dragons and I think he will get that with a regional set up based in

:14:31. > :14:34.Newport. I think they need to get it sorted as soon as possible. A lot of

:14:35. > :14:38.good youngsters are coming through the region and I think they need to

:14:39. > :14:44.increase the standard of signing of players they get and push it

:14:45. > :14:48.forward. The unions say if it goes through they will be able to invest

:14:49. > :14:53.more in players. Gavin Henson is on the way for next season.

:14:54. > :14:56.So it's been a week of distraction for the players this week.

:14:57. > :14:59.Could they put the off-field issues to one side, and pull

:15:00. > :15:05.off an unexpected win against play-off chasing Ulster?

:15:06. > :15:14.There is room out wide, a clever kick. That has gone loose. This

:15:15. > :15:22.could be a triad it is a try. What they start by Ulster. Craig Gilroy

:15:23. > :15:28.gets in for the try. Griffiths has had another good game. There are men

:15:29. > :15:37.over. Interception. Had Gilroy called that, he was done and dusted.

:15:38. > :15:42.REFEREE: I am going to yellow card him,

:15:43. > :15:51.deliberate knock-on. Well, well, well. That could change

:15:52. > :15:57.things. Knocked back on the Dragons' side. Swept up by Brok Harris.

:15:58. > :16:08.Dragons looking for men on the narrow side. He is over. The second

:16:09. > :16:11.movement was legal. Henderson low and good driving

:16:12. > :16:22.position and again Harris with the tackling. Back inside. Beautiful

:16:23. > :16:28.stuff by Jared Payne. Here goes Treadwell. Nothing too brave now. He

:16:29. > :16:36.needs to settle the ball and get it back and Ulster half to clear it. He

:16:37. > :16:46.has been charged down and that is it. That may be a try. My goodness.

:16:47. > :16:50.I think he has got it. REFEREE:

:16:51. > :16:58.You may award the try. COMMENTATOR:

:16:59. > :17:03.The try has been awarded. The Dragons will have to run it from

:17:04. > :17:12.here. That has been knocked forward by the Dragons. That is an illegal

:17:13. > :17:13.tackle by Ulster. Did he leave the shoulder behind deliberately. It

:17:14. > :17:30.looks very much like it. Paul Marshall urging them forward.

:17:31. > :17:36.But the Dragons have died in the referee says that is once. Are they

:17:37. > :17:40.over the line? They are over the line and that is a third try for

:17:41. > :17:42.Ulster. Kingsley Jones admitted afterwards

:17:43. > :17:44.that the takeover talk had been a distraction,

:17:45. > :17:47.but ironically, they put in arguably one of their best performances

:17:48. > :17:55.of the season against a fully loaded Ironically, apart from the end, they

:17:56. > :18:00.probably put in one of their best performances of the season. So close

:18:01. > :18:03.but I have watched them a few times this year and they have gone away

:18:04. > :18:07.from teams and put a score between them but never really seen to see

:18:08. > :18:11.them off in the last ten minutes. That little bit of extra quality

:18:12. > :18:16.they are lacking something that Ulster have got, that extra quality

:18:17. > :18:18.has seen them through. Time to move on.

:18:19. > :18:21.In some ways, the Six Nations already feels like a distant memory,

:18:22. > :18:23.or a bad dream, depending on your viewpoint.

:18:24. > :18:25.It's only been a week since the Paris farce,

:18:26. > :18:27.just about long enough for Eddie Butler to put things

:18:28. > :18:41.The romantic bookends of the campaign, Rome and Paris. The start

:18:42. > :18:47.and the end, the win without a bonus point and the defeat with a bonus

:18:48. > :18:53.point. The professional, slightly joyless open around the confusion,

:18:54. > :18:58.the absurdity of the close. Jonathan Davies has written the word shambles

:18:59. > :19:03.down. In terms of being good theatre, Wales went from caution to

:19:04. > :19:07.full-blown melodrama. That is progress. But being good theatre

:19:08. > :19:12.isn't enough. There seems to be an ongoing general dissatisfaction. It

:19:13. > :19:21.is a bit unfair that we should have ended up under pressure here. The

:19:22. > :19:29.scrummage. After a 6-nations where the set piece had generally been an

:19:30. > :19:34.area of strength. Paris is tough if you are weak at the restarts.

:19:35. > :19:41.Perhaps the difference between now and successes of the past was

:19:42. > :19:45.subtlety. The past by Dan Lydiate to Dan Biggar on the hoof downfield by

:19:46. > :19:54.Sam Warburton. What worked and what didn't. It is unfair to pick on the

:19:55. > :19:57.former captain. He was exceptional. And his performance against Ireland

:19:58. > :20:04.was extraordinary. Subtlety was given the night off and the game was

:20:05. > :20:09.no worse for it. He formed a double act with Justin Tipuric. It was a

:20:10. > :20:17.unit within a unit. What innovation did Wales bring to the championship?

:20:18. > :20:22.Justin Tipuric at the line-out. The Liam Williams try against England.

:20:23. > :20:34.Putting George North in the stocks to bring the very best out of him.

:20:35. > :20:39.That was very distinctly Welsh. Others showed spirit. In fact,

:20:40. > :20:48.spirit was clearly not an issue. Ross Moriarty, the wrecking ball.

:20:49. > :20:55.But here we come to one of those head scratching moments. Why take

:20:56. > :21:01.him off? Because the GPS said? On the day, GPS rules over gut instinct

:21:02. > :21:06.is the day that we should all join those that don't turn up to watch

:21:07. > :21:13.rugby any more, joined them playing their computer games. For the

:21:14. > :21:17.moment, there is enough to keep us glued to the occasion. A defeat to

:21:18. > :21:20.England and the victory over Ireland, both dramatic to the very

:21:21. > :21:28.end, both could have gone either way. And in all the 20 minute

:21:29. > :21:32.quarters played, that is 21 counting the Paris supplementary, how many

:21:33. > :21:41.bad ones were there? One in Rome, two in Murrayfield, three in Paris.

:21:42. > :21:49.And that final eight, seven minutes against England.

:21:50. > :21:57.That still leaves 14 and a half good quarters but here we are, eight

:21:58. > :22:01.tries, fifth in the table and a bit dissatisfied. If not for lack of

:22:02. > :22:07.good theatre or spirit, certainly not for lack of courage. It remains

:22:08. > :22:14.a technical matter of being masters in those areas where space and time

:22:15. > :22:19.are reduced like never before, life on the gain line, protecting the

:22:20. > :22:23.ball in the contact area, areas where New Zealand keep their skills

:22:24. > :22:30.intact, those places where the All Blacks pounce on error. On that

:22:31. > :22:36.score, we should worry assume that more of our spirited team have

:22:37. > :22:40.slipped out of contention for the Lions tour than have put their hands

:22:41. > :22:46.up. We ended up two wins better than Italy and two wins worse than the

:22:47. > :22:52.champions. We began and ended in the capitals of romance. We played our

:22:53. > :22:56.part in all the drama but we got a bit stuck in the lower middle and

:22:57. > :23:08.lower middle of the road isn't really us.

:23:09. > :23:14.A quick congratulations to Wales under 18 's, they have beaten their

:23:15. > :23:18.English counterparts this afternoon at Ebbw Vale. Congratulations to

:23:19. > :23:25.them. A lyrical approach to the 6-nations from Eddie Butler, as you

:23:26. > :23:28.would expect. Fifth place, only eight tries in five games, the worst

:23:29. > :23:32.finish in ten years and we can highlight some of the positives but

:23:33. > :23:37.ultimately, that table does not lie. No, it does not. We were a few

:23:38. > :23:41.minutes away from beating England and last play away from beating

:23:42. > :23:45.France but if you take that away and the passion we had when we beat

:23:46. > :23:50.Ireland and played against England, have we developed since the start of

:23:51. > :23:51.this season? Are we a better side? Have we Dinefwr -- developed players

:23:52. > :24:09.can lock no, is the answer to that. So, I don't think that we have moved

:24:10. > :24:19.forward in any great shape, which is the disappointing thing, which is

:24:20. > :24:23.why we feel slightly underwhelmed. Actually, I don't think we have

:24:24. > :24:32.actually moved forward. The revolution of Wales' attacking game.

:24:33. > :24:38.Have you seen much evidence of that in the last five or six months? I

:24:39. > :24:42.don't think so. It seems to be the same kind of physical dominance,

:24:43. > :24:45.trying to dominate teams and when we come up against a team that can

:24:46. > :24:51.match that, we don't seem to have a plan B and that... All the other

:24:52. > :24:55.teams around us are developing. I think they are trying to develop as

:24:56. > :25:00.a team but we are certainly not seeing it and we have not seen it

:25:01. > :25:05.for a good 18 months now. It is the inconsistency that is so maddening.

:25:06. > :25:08.You can put a blinder of a performance in against England and

:25:09. > :25:13.should have gone on to win that game, likewise Ireland. But they

:25:14. > :25:19.didn't seem to be able to back it but away from home. One real bad

:25:20. > :25:27.half was that second half against Scotland. But I think the coaches

:25:28. > :25:33.have got to look at themselves. What have we developed? All I saw in the

:25:34. > :25:37.attacking game was we kicked for touch following notice of taking the

:25:38. > :25:44.kicks at goal at times. Were they just scared of losing their jobs or

:25:45. > :25:52.can they be coaches and develop these players? They have heard a lot

:25:53. > :26:01.of voices over the last 12 months as well. Alex King came in during the

:26:02. > :26:08.6-nations. Is there a fear perhaps that they are just hearing too many

:26:09. > :26:12.contradictory voices? With the time they have had, Matt tried to adjust

:26:13. > :26:19.things a fortnight before the autumn internationals. It is hard, with a

:26:20. > :26:23.region, you have months to do it. That was such a short period of

:26:24. > :26:29.time. Alex King came in for the 6-nations. You need a long period of

:26:30. > :26:33.time and with the two voices coming in, I don't know any other nation

:26:34. > :26:37.that would have two attack coaches coming in in the same season to try

:26:38. > :26:43.and adapt things, which is what we are saying we need to do in our

:26:44. > :26:46.game. We have got the summer tour. How much we will learn from, I don't

:26:47. > :26:51.know, with the opposition we will have, with the youngsters going out

:26:52. > :26:57.there. But another new voice there with Stephen Jones going out there.

:26:58. > :27:00.A great experience in one sense but it is not the best long-term

:27:01. > :27:06.strategy with the World Cup not that far away. Having missed an

:27:07. > :27:10.opportunity to blood new talent? Shane Williams last week said Sam

:27:11. > :27:17.Davies Hass to start those tests in the South Sea Islands. Definitely,

:27:18. > :27:23.they have picked him and we have not seen him at all. He has to play on

:27:24. > :27:28.the summer tour. Certainly with the other boys as well, we did not see

:27:29. > :27:38.any of them. It does not seem to make any sense to pick them and not

:27:39. > :27:41.give them a run at all. I am as frustrated as anyone. We are all

:27:42. > :27:48.frustrated. We want to score lots of tries. The problem is if any of our

:27:49. > :27:53.key boys get injured, who is going to slot in? We were very lucky with

:27:54. > :27:59.Ross Moriarty coming into form. We have relied so heavily on Faletau.

:28:00. > :28:03.We were just so lucky that he came into form bang at the time that

:28:04. > :28:11.Faletau had his injuries. What happens with the rest? If there is

:28:12. > :28:17.an injury, you are throwing in some one cold. In the meantime, when

:28:18. > :28:23.things happen, we are a bit stuck. I would like to see us be a bit bolder

:28:24. > :28:29.than to take those decisions and develop people. The Ospreys did it

:28:30. > :28:33.last year and they had a poor season with the off -- World Cup going on

:28:34. > :28:35.but all of a sudden, they are producing world-class players. That

:28:36. > :28:38.is what we need to do right throughout the board. Now has got to

:28:39. > :28:40.be the time to be bold. Now this next guy has had more

:28:41. > :28:42.comebacks than Lazarus. He's just turned 40,

:28:43. > :28:45.but he cannot let go. He's won 87 caps for Wales,

:28:46. > :28:47.but is hungry for another appearance at the Principality Stadium,

:28:48. > :28:50.this time in the colours Sean Holley went to see

:28:51. > :29:13.if he could pull it off. The famous old university town of

:29:14. > :29:17.Lampeter is the neutral venue. There is a rumour that someone famous is

:29:18. > :29:25.putting on the boots for the club where it all began for him. Amman is

:29:26. > :29:29.where it all started for me. It feels like a European cup final for

:29:30. > :29:33.the lads, or a World Cup final. They have got to this position without

:29:34. > :29:38.much of my help and they deserve to get to the final. If I get an

:29:39. > :29:47.orderly, great, if I don't get on at all, disappointed but never mind. As

:29:48. > :29:52.long as we win. For more -- formal player and can get in the team! He

:29:53. > :30:03.has done well to get in the 23 today. The longest warm up I've ever

:30:04. > :30:10.seen. That must have been 47 minutes. We are a bit more

:30:11. > :30:21.professional with Amman and we want to get things right. Tackles going

:30:22. > :30:34.in, everyone is up for this one. He is on after 18 minutes. Score 0-0.

:30:35. > :30:37.He is narrowly but he is on, but your husband, his brother-in-law, it

:30:38. > :30:47.would be good if they were all on. Good start, isn't it? Yes. You know

:30:48. > :30:59.what people will say if we win. It's because of Shane Williams, but it

:31:00. > :31:05.isn't, it is because we are Amman. We were just talking about your son,

:31:06. > :31:22.he scored the first try. My baby. He is a big baby!

:31:23. > :31:37.How long have you been following Amman is back --? Since I was a boy.

:31:38. > :31:49.Will he ever give up? He is so full of energy. One of those games you

:31:50. > :31:55.don't know what is going to happen and unfortunately Amman are playing

:31:56. > :32:01.very well at the moment. After a shaky start, Shane Williams has got

:32:02. > :32:15.to grips with the game. Who is he? LAUGHTER

:32:16. > :32:39.What is the plan back at the club? A few celebrations and karaoke songs!

:32:40. > :32:45.THEY SING. It was nothing to do with me, I just wanted to help. The

:32:46. > :32:51.probably won't get this chance again for the final so it is great. I'd

:32:52. > :32:57.love to be involved in any capacity. I would love to not play at all and

:32:58. > :33:06.let the boys take the plaudits because they deserve it.

:33:07. > :33:09.Congratulations to Shane and to Amman United.

:33:10. > :33:11.They'll have their moment in the sun at the Principality

:33:12. > :33:16.Let's find out who'll be joining them in the cup,

:33:17. > :33:29.The first semifinal was a real thigh slap of a match in which the star

:33:30. > :33:35.was that veteran warhorse Ceri Sweeney. His 37-year-old legs might

:33:36. > :33:38.not be quite as brightly as in his prime but is in sinks remain sharp

:33:39. > :33:49.as he showed with the first try of the game.

:33:50. > :34:00.This score by when Joe Davis extended the lead. With ten minutes

:34:01. > :34:03.left, keys mounted a comeback in which Lazarus would have been proud.

:34:04. > :34:08.They scored three converted tries including this one, to bring

:34:09. > :34:18.themselves back to within two points but it was left to the man Sweeney

:34:19. > :34:23.to quell things with a late penalty. Also let drama in the other

:34:24. > :34:31.semifinal. Last minute score by Jones sent RGC to their first ever

:34:32. > :34:38.cup final. Celebrations sure how much that means to North Wales

:34:39. > :34:45.rugby. In the plate, last year's runners-up made it through with a

:34:46. > :34:52.narrow win. The supporters were dancing off the pitch. And

:34:53. > :35:02.Caerphilly made it back to the big time in the bowl. Matthew Hurley's

:35:03. > :35:09.15 points including this try proved the compelling factor for the

:35:10. > :35:20.Cheeseman. Here is the line-up for finals day. THEY

:35:21. > :35:29.RGC continue their historic season. The tightest game in the round was

:35:30. > :35:44.won by a dramatic drop goal. Shane Williams making yet another

:35:45. > :35:49.comeback. You made a bit of a comeback for the Cardiff Blues

:35:50. > :35:56.recently. You don't fancy turning up for someone in the bowl? Possibly

:35:57. > :36:00.not. If it was howling down with rain and wind I'm not sure Shane

:36:01. > :36:09.Williams would have turned up! He was happy to play. I didn't see him

:36:10. > :36:16.make a tackle. We will have to check the tapes. You were involved in one

:36:17. > :36:22.of those dramatic gains yesterday. Pontypridd against Crosskeys. Three

:36:23. > :36:26.tries and seven minutes. We were hanging on for the last five

:36:27. > :36:31.minutes. Eight minutes to go and they were just two points behind. A

:36:32. > :36:39.good few substitutions in the last 20 minutes who made an impact and

:36:40. > :36:42.they caught us off guard. RGC in the final, first time they have been

:36:43. > :36:47.there. They give you a little bit of something earlier in the season.

:36:48. > :36:53.Revenge for you guys? I don't want to give them too many bullets before

:36:54. > :37:00.we get there. They had a good side, they coach well, he is doing a great

:37:01. > :37:11.job at there, some very good players brought in. I think it will be a

:37:12. > :37:13.great finals day. April 16, put that one in your diaries.

:37:14. > :37:17.And the day before it's the Pro12's regional showpiece.

:37:18. > :37:29.Judgment Day is nearly here. Four regions, one in. One of the most

:37:30. > :37:42.anticipated days in the calendar. Scrum V will be at the heart of it

:37:43. > :37:44.all. But before the battle of wills, a battle of skills. Who came out on

:37:45. > :38:05.top? All will be revealed soon. Judgment Day five on the way the day

:38:06. > :38:19.before finals day at the principality stadium. A feast of

:38:20. > :38:22.regional rugby to look forward to. 40,000 tickets sold already. They

:38:23. > :38:27.are hoping for a sell-out for the first time. I guess that is the

:38:28. > :38:32.closest thing you will get to international without it being

:38:33. > :38:38.international. It has grown. There were sceptics to start with. They

:38:39. > :38:42.wondered why we were taking their when they could have a full house at

:38:43. > :38:48.the home ground. The faith of letting it go and market it how they

:38:49. > :38:52.have done, it has been fantastic the last two, and everyone there has

:38:53. > :38:57.enjoyed it. People are staying put the whole day not just to their

:38:58. > :39:05.team. The final say the next day, it makes a good weekend in Cardiff. We

:39:06. > :39:09.said every year but in the absence of trial matches, it is kind of

:39:10. > :39:15.trials much when you have a Lions tour and Wales tour at the end of

:39:16. > :39:22.it. Hopefully all the stars will be out, the main guys, and sometimes it

:39:23. > :39:25.lacks players but it is great to have it at the stadium. I know in

:39:26. > :39:29.England and they pushed the London double-header at the season. It is

:39:30. > :39:37.good to have the focus and marketing to bring awareness up. Hopefully we

:39:38. > :39:41.get people along to buy into it. Some people suggested that the

:39:42. > :39:47.rivalries have softened since rugby has gone regional. They probably

:39:48. > :39:50.haven't played in any! First and they're still very tasty, a lot of

:39:51. > :39:55.players going for positions at international level and it is a good

:39:56. > :40:00.chance to get one up on your opposing number. I have been to the

:40:01. > :40:08.last couple and it is a really good day of rugby and everyone seems to

:40:09. > :40:09.enjoy it. Why not get tickets to both occasions?

:40:10. > :40:12.That to come, but let's return to this weekend.

:40:13. > :40:15.And on Friday, the Scarlets were hoping to stay in the hunt

:40:16. > :40:26.for the playoffs when they welcomed Edinburgh to Parc y Scarlets.

:40:27. > :40:40.Lovely pass to patch and he is clean through. Rees patch all! On the way.

:40:41. > :40:46.What a return for Patchell. He can go back and say a massive thank you

:40:47. > :40:49.to that pass. Great turn of pace. That is what this guy can do. Hence

:40:50. > :41:10.his ears back and he is gone. Good driving. They want to replicate

:41:11. > :41:15.it. Samson Lee. Keeping it going. Didn't lose their shape at all.

:41:16. > :41:24.Within striking distance now. There is the try line and there is the

:41:25. > :41:40.try. It is Wayne Jones who has got it. Gets to ground. Lovely inside

:41:41. > :41:44.Boulter Liam Williams from Parkes. Parkes, lovely pop-up, and James

:41:45. > :41:53.Davis is straight through for a try number three. A lovely pass by the

:41:54. > :42:07.Scarlets skipper and James Davies. Watch this pass.

:42:08. > :42:28.Lovely pass, easy run-in for Burleigh. Simple ball and Edinburgh

:42:29. > :42:41.get a free gift. There we are. La trajectory. Aled Davies with a

:42:42. > :42:50.little chip over the top. Tom Brown comes into Stewart. Parkes floats it

:42:51. > :42:58.out to Patchell. The Scarlets have done the job within 30 minutes. That

:42:59. > :43:11.is the bonus point safe. Just watch. Jonathan Davies cousin, turnover,

:43:12. > :43:15.easy run-in, good choice of pass. The first-half went pretty well,

:43:16. > :43:18.accuracy more than anything. Second half we would be disappointed

:43:19. > :43:20.looking at the video back because we didn't get much of what we wanted

:43:21. > :43:32.out there in the second half. What an intriguing game of rugby. It

:43:33. > :43:35.was the ultimate game of one half. I missed little bits of the first-half

:43:36. > :43:39.when it was brilliant and the second half I really started watching it

:43:40. > :43:42.and nothing much happened. A lot of the test players came off in the

:43:43. > :43:48.second half and it seemed to take the steam away. They had already got

:43:49. > :43:52.the bonus point so hiding to nothing as such but it was a shame because

:43:53. > :44:01.you wanted to finish a game as you started but they got what they

:44:02. > :44:14.wanted. With the Ospreys win away, banana skin, that is up -- a

:44:15. > :44:17.potential banana skin as well. I spoke before the game about the

:44:18. > :44:25.elevation of the Rees Patchell. Whether it was a gamble. But no

:44:26. > :44:31.fear. Dan Jones has been playing really well and he is the guy to

:44:32. > :44:38.take them through to the end of the season. I'm sure Patchell would

:44:39. > :44:43.appreciate that. Hadley parks has been huge for them. Here's a carrier

:44:44. > :44:48.but he has the ability to put other people into space. Patchell has been

:44:49. > :44:54.working on his speed while he has been off. Hadley Parkes getting

:44:55. > :44:58.another touch. Those two working really well and it would be

:44:59. > :45:03.interesting to see where they go. Scott Wilson didn't play last night.

:45:04. > :45:10.I think Parkes is crucial to how they operate. He has won McCallum

:45:11. > :45:13.was man of the matches. One swallow does not make a summer in terms of

:45:14. > :45:17.Patchell but we talked about Sam Davies starting for Wales in summer

:45:18. > :45:22.but of Pajot continues that form is making a case.

:45:23. > :45:27.He certainly has the potential. He has been unlucky over the last

:45:28. > :45:36.couple of months. If he can put a run together of games, he will be

:45:37. > :45:41.absolutely ecstatic with that. If he can put four or five games together,

:45:42. > :45:45.he could go on that summer tour. It is whether you can play at 12. It

:45:46. > :45:55.worked really well when he was at the Cardiff Blues. He is a powerful

:45:56. > :46:00.guy. And I think with that kind of time and space, he could be really

:46:01. > :46:07.good. This would be the time if you want to try and look at someone. The

:46:08. > :46:11.Scarlets have plenty of centres but it could be an option for Wales. It

:46:12. > :46:12.worked with Owen Farrell for England.

:46:13. > :46:14.So onto the Blues, and they had the toughest

:46:15. > :46:34.An away trip to league leaders Leinster.

:46:35. > :46:45.Through the hands, into midfield. Josh Navidi stands up. A little

:46:46. > :46:49.nudge through. Can Morgan get there? The bounce is favourable. But is a

:46:50. > :46:58.great effort and it is the blindside, Dan Leavy. Not much space

:46:59. > :47:03.to work with. They do exceptionally well. Good little inside ball to Rey

:47:04. > :47:15.Lee-Lo. Has he got support? What a try this will be. It is the

:47:16. > :47:20.scrum-half, Tomos Williams. Wide ball. Steps inside. Taken down

:47:21. > :47:28.within five metres of the line. A little offload. Bent is over?

:47:29. > :47:33.Referee can on the spot. Held up short. A little dart from scrum-half

:47:34. > :47:47.Luke Brough -- Luke McGrath. They will go upstairs to the TMO. But for

:47:48. > :47:55.me, that is a classic poaching scrum-half try. Good work by Gareth

:47:56. > :48:04.Anscombe. Does exceptionally well. A good turn of pace from Kristian

:48:05. > :48:09.Dacey. Great build-up, good work down that side and the scrum-half is

:48:10. > :48:16.rewarded with his second try. The crowd suddenly getting behind the

:48:17. > :48:20.home side. How did that ball come out the back door? The referee is

:48:21. > :48:28.happy with that. An opportunity now. Rey Lee-Lo. Can he get rid of it?

:48:29. > :48:34.Yes he can. This is an opportunity. He has only been on a few minutes

:48:35. > :48:47.and he's going to go over for the try. Now, they go, hands on the ball

:48:48. > :48:50.for Tracey with Ruddock. Now they go towards the line. Just a metre

:48:51. > :48:58.short. They are over. The assistant referee right on the spot. I think

:48:59. > :49:10.that is down. The try has been given. Josh Navidi straightening

:49:11. > :49:17.things up. Has the opportunity to put him away. Good work. Tom James,

:49:18. > :49:24.inside ball. Anybody to take it. Not able to do so. Ellis Jenkins is

:49:25. > :49:28.there. Four metres short. Lloyd Williams fires the ball out. Morgan

:49:29. > :49:35.looking to nudge it through. Has that gone forward? It comes down to

:49:36. > :49:46.a little forward pass from Matthew Morgan. Trying to find Rey Lee-Lo.

:49:47. > :49:55.Leinster are top of the table. Munster are into second, overtaking

:49:56. > :49:59.the Ospreys. Ulster are the ones in the fourth play-off spot. The

:50:00. > :50:02.Scarlets are three points behind them and they probably have the

:50:03. > :50:06.slightly eighth easier run-in. The Cardiff Blues are still in

:50:07. > :50:18.contention for a European play-off spot. That is one of the toughest

:50:19. > :50:22.places to go, the showground and to come away with a bonus point, a

:50:23. > :50:27.losing one, that is testament to how they paid out there. They were in a

:50:28. > :50:30.position to win it and had opportunities to win it. Plenty to

:50:31. > :50:33.praise in that performance yesterday. Not least their

:50:34. > :50:38.willingness to counterattack from virtually anywhere. It is nice to

:50:39. > :50:46.see. Not a lot of teams go there with confidence. Gareth Anscombe

:50:47. > :50:51.very good, someone just spark the generator app and off he goes.

:50:52. > :50:59.Flying down the wing. Rate pace by Kristian Dacey. Leinster are used to

:51:00. > :51:02.having their own way out there. A bobbling ball and they are making

:51:03. > :51:07.the most of some of these opportunities. Again, from deep and

:51:08. > :51:12.off they go. Getting it through the hands. They are playing with

:51:13. > :51:14.confidence. In a ground where the Leinster defence has been absolutely

:51:15. > :51:19.unreal. I don't think anybody has had a bonus point all year. It was

:51:20. > :51:32.little bits like that away from home at cost to the game. They still had

:51:33. > :51:36.a chance. Alex Cuthbert, some big moments from him. I would love to

:51:37. > :51:41.see him back with confidence. He takes so much stick. That is a

:51:42. > :51:49.fantastic bit of skill. Nicky Robinson is the generator for him

:51:50. > :51:57.doing that. That is the one and only kick. You are the man to talk about

:51:58. > :52:01.this as well. We are hearing that Thomas Francis could be on the verge

:52:02. > :52:05.of signing a national dual contract that will place him at the Cardiff

:52:06. > :52:11.Blues. Apparently there is discussion about buying him out the

:52:12. > :52:15.final year of his Exeter contract. Judging from how badly the scrum

:52:16. > :52:25.creaked yesterday, they don't need a tighter Alleni Mor. Yes, get as many

:52:26. > :52:29.as we can back playing in Wales. In a tight game away from home, you

:52:30. > :52:31.need to be punching your weight on the front foot and they did

:52:32. > :52:37.extremely well considering they were creaking all day. Getting James time

:52:38. > :52:41.every week and it can only be a good thing for Welsh rugby and for him.

:52:42. > :52:47.He will be in the goldfish bowl and the selectors will be watching.

:52:48. > :52:50.Thomas Francis might be on his way and Gethin Jenkins made a

:52:51. > :52:56.long-awaited return of the bench. From what I have been told, the

:52:57. > :53:02.Lions have been monitoring his fitness. That is not surprising

:53:03. > :53:08.really. It was disappointing with the bicep injury. He started the

:53:09. > :53:18.season well for the Cardiff Blues. He has been really missed. His

:53:19. > :53:22.presence on and off the pitch. He can offer a huge amount of

:53:23. > :53:27.experience on Lions tours. And the way he is around the park. That is

:53:28. > :53:31.what is needed out in New Zealand. The engine he has got. It is not

:53:32. > :53:36.surprising. I am sure he is hoping to get a bit more rugby under his

:53:37. > :53:47.belt. A big game against Gloucester on the weekend. And then see where

:53:48. > :53:52.he is at the end of the season. He is a world-class player and I think

:53:53. > :54:00.he just needs a run of games to get himself back to fitness and he will

:54:01. > :54:07.certainly be in the squad. Alun Wyn Jones is out for six weeks.

:54:08. > :54:11.Devastating for the Ospreys. But potentially good news for the liars

:54:12. > :54:18.because it means he will have a chance to rest and recuperate a bit.

:54:19. > :54:23.You have two force him to rest. He will play every minute of every game

:54:24. > :54:26.if he can. So, yes, six weeks, freshen him right up and then you

:54:27. > :54:28.will see an animal out there. Good man.

:54:29. > :54:31.Now then, three years ago, Caris Bowen was diagnosed

:54:32. > :54:33.with Hodgkins Lymphona and had to undergo intensive treatment.

:54:34. > :54:36.Three years on, she's in remission, and has found a new lease of life

:54:37. > :55:04.Red and yellow cards. I was 21 diagnosed. Back in 2013. I had no

:55:05. > :55:09.idea what it was. My mother asked the question, what is the treatment

:55:10. > :55:13.and the doctor replied, a heavy course of chemotherapy. That took me

:55:14. > :55:18.back. I thought, chemotherapy, that means it's cancer. But knowing what

:55:19. > :55:22.it was and then being able to do with it from them was better than

:55:23. > :55:26.not knowing what was wrong because I was quite ill for a while before do

:55:27. > :55:29.being diagnosed. At least then we knew then what it was and this is

:55:30. > :55:34.what is good to happen and this is what we are going to do. I had to

:55:35. > :55:38.fight and be strong and even on my lowest days to justify dancing, I

:55:39. > :55:43.have to be here for my children. I love my mother so far -- so much

:55:44. > :55:47.because she is very brave and independent and she puts us first

:55:48. > :55:54.before anything. I think she is so great because she beat cancer and I

:55:55. > :55:59.am really happy that she beat it. Hated sport. Did not like anything

:56:00. > :56:05.to do with it. Very rarely wore trainers. During my treatment, on

:56:06. > :56:10.the very hardest days, I felt very unwell. I would fight that. So I

:56:11. > :56:14.would put my gym gear on and we would be going out for a walk. It

:56:15. > :56:19.was those very hard days I felt like I wanted to fight the most. Since

:56:20. > :56:25.being keyword, I wanted to remind myself of my strength on a daily

:56:26. > :56:30.basis and what I am capable of, now I have my full health. I am healthy

:56:31. > :56:34.and happy and I can do it now. So I want to do it. My nickname with

:56:35. > :56:39.friends and family actually is Sergeant Major. You are in charge of

:56:40. > :56:45.something and it is important to be further and strict but to make it

:56:46. > :56:51.enjoyable. I have a way to be stern but again to gain respect at the

:56:52. > :56:55.same time. Today's game is my second game on my own. I am not going to

:56:56. > :56:59.pretend that I am the best or I know everything for a start because that

:57:00. > :57:03.is far from the truth. It is just growing and learning as you go by

:57:04. > :57:07.with the games. The assessor works with you closely to make sure you

:57:08. > :57:24.know what you are doing. Forward pass. Forward, boys, OK? Sorry. Are

:57:25. > :57:33.you OK? Everything happens for a reason. And I tell everybody I need,

:57:34. > :57:37.if I have two cards, red, yellow cards, have the illness, or carry on

:57:38. > :57:43.the way I was, I would run for that card to have had it all day because

:57:44. > :57:49.it has made me a stronger person, motivated, what really matters in

:57:50. > :57:53.life now is my health, my children and just to get as many people into

:57:54. > :57:59.sport and into positive experiences and just a better outlook on life

:58:00. > :58:03.altogether really. I should have warned you, that was a

:58:04. > :58:08.bit of a tear-jerker. What a fantastic and uplifting story. That

:58:09. > :58:14.is it for this week. My thanks to everyone. And as it is Mother's Day,

:58:15. > :58:18.we thought we had better end with a special and personalised Mother's

:58:19. > :58:27.Day message. This one is for you, Caris, from your two boys. My mother

:58:28. > :58:32.gave me a yellow card which means I have to go to my bedroom. My mother

:58:33. > :58:38.gave me a red card and I had to go to the shed. I love my mother

:58:39. > :58:42.because she is very independent, brave, she puts us first before

:58:43. > :58:48.anything. I love my mother because she really cares about me and she

:58:49. > :58:53.buys the nice things. Happy Mother's Day.
