:00:18. > :00:24.It was all smiles at the Liberty before kick-off, but there was
:00:25. > :00:30.serious business at hand. Only a win would keep them in the hunt. Galway
:00:31. > :00:35.was the destination for the Scarlets, where victory would
:00:36. > :00:40.guarantee them a semifinal. Just the start that Scarlets wanted. It will
:00:41. > :00:46.be a big game against Ospreys, a real humdinger. For the Blues, it
:00:47. > :00:50.was all about momentum in their final home game of the season.
:00:51. > :00:55.Defeat for the Dragons would condemn them to a whole season without a win
:00:56. > :01:03.on the road. George North speaks to scrum five about New Zealand and the
:01:04. > :01:09.man chosen to lead the Lions. Presumably he would be your pick?
:01:10. > :01:16.Depends if he is watching. And we catch up with the man who suffered a
:01:17. > :01:22.life changing injury in Afghanistan. All of a sudden there was a massive
:01:23. > :01:30.explosion and I was drawn up on top of the vehicle. He has now
:01:31. > :01:35.rediscovered his passion for rugby in the disability league.
:01:36. > :01:39.Hello, welcome to Scrum V. We could be on the verge of league history.
:01:40. > :01:42.Barring disaster we will have to welsh regions in the play-offs for
:01:43. > :01:48.the first time since they were introduced. We will start with that
:01:49. > :02:02.critical game of the Liberty Stadium between the Ospreys and Ulster.
:02:03. > :02:08.That looks good, they will try to get a secondary squeeze if they can,
:02:09. > :02:20.but they have dug in. That has got away. Touchdown. The
:02:21. > :02:31.try has been given. The referee was playing advantage. He really did
:02:32. > :02:36.take advantage. That was miscued slightly. Alan O'Connor, little
:02:37. > :02:50.sidestep, into Bradley Davies. Jackson has given that a wall. Well
:02:51. > :02:57.covered by Dan Evans. He is very quick. He has got away. That is poor
:02:58. > :03:03.defending by Ulster. Magnificently done by the Ospreys. Although Ian,
:03:04. > :03:23.it was the Canadian International. Ospreys are not resting on their
:03:24. > :03:31.laurels, doing all they cancer to maybe snatch another try. -- doing
:03:32. > :03:36.all they can to maybe snatch another try.
:03:37. > :03:47.Hugo the Ospreys again, looking for a third try. And he gets one. And
:03:48. > :03:51.after a hassle of Ulster pressure, the Ospreys have thrown off the
:03:52. > :03:58.shackles, broken free, and the former All Black has made this game
:03:59. > :04:07.were then secure. The Ulster side, play on, says the
:04:08. > :04:13.referee. Ulster's captain has a goal himself, needs to keep his
:04:14. > :04:20.composure. He has had good game. Ulster get a try here.
:04:21. > :04:25.You have to be prepared. We needed to be clear on how we wanted to
:04:26. > :04:29.play. It is a massive points difference, but also have some
:04:30. > :04:35.firepower at paint. It is something that we have got to be really
:04:36. > :04:40.focused and ultimately worked hard to win the game.
:04:41. > :04:45.They brought the losing streak to an end. By doing so, they showed that
:04:46. > :04:50.when they really need to find that inner steel they managed it.
:04:51. > :04:54.Yes, Ulster were flat, you can see the pressure they were under from
:04:55. > :04:58.another run of defeats, but they were very clinical when the
:04:59. > :05:03.opportunities came. A good result to get them back up and running. You
:05:04. > :05:08.mentioned clinical, their attack was maybe not as fluent as we're used
:05:09. > :05:13.to, but they took their chances. I hope that he has an injury free
:05:14. > :05:18.run now, because he spends into the tackle and it is a brilliant
:05:19. > :05:25.off-load. He turned it into a brilliant try, I hope that Beck has
:05:26. > :05:31.a good run. This was the turning point. Dan Evans, what a great game,
:05:32. > :05:38.just picks it up. That is poor defence, but it is brilliant
:05:39. > :05:41.support. That was just before half-time. That was the turning
:05:42. > :05:46.point for me. There's a lot of pressure in the second half, Ulster.
:05:47. > :05:58.But to lose that Troy, that was absolutely crucial.
:05:59. > :06:02.Picking up on Jonathan's pointed out attitude, it was much tighter today,
:06:03. > :06:06.they did get cut a few times but get student scrambling back was
:06:07. > :06:10.exemplary. That is what stood out for me. The last three or four mag
:06:11. > :06:15.games they have not been like the Ospreys on the way that they have
:06:16. > :06:18.played. They seemed more desperate, and they were far from perfect
:06:19. > :06:21.yesterday defensively and there were many line breaks, but the attitude
:06:22. > :06:26.from all of the Ospreys boys to get back, just look at this, early on in
:06:27. > :06:32.the game, good line break, good build-up play stirrer. But look at
:06:33. > :06:36.many numbers that they have got back compared to the white jerseys? You
:06:37. > :06:44.only had to give him a split second, he was superb again. Again, it was
:06:45. > :06:51.poor first face defence. But look at the numbers getting back. Get in
:06:52. > :06:56.front of the support runners from Ulster, and then they work in the
:06:57. > :07:01.contact area, that was superb. It epitomises it from me. Line break
:07:02. > :07:05.again, legal or illegal I am not too sure. When you have a winner doing
:07:06. > :07:11.that, it makes such a difference to the rest of the team. They are a
:07:12. > :07:15.little bit hungrier and more desperate. The game is won at this
:07:16. > :07:22.stage, it is that energy and hunger to make the title, get back on your
:07:23. > :07:30.feet and when the ball. We mentioned judgment team Dominic Day, they were
:07:31. > :07:36.blown away. -- we mentioned judgment today, they were blown away. It is a
:07:37. > :07:40.big game, Ulster. We had Leinster a couple of weeks ago. As a player,
:07:41. > :07:50.you want a full house. The atmosphere is better, you play
:07:51. > :07:53.better. The Ospreys need to look at what is going on down there. The
:07:54. > :07:56.press officers and the marketing need to look at themselves and maybe
:07:57. > :08:01.put somebody in who's going to get interest going. That kind of match
:08:02. > :08:09.and sage deserves a bigger attendance. We will discuss that
:08:10. > :08:14.final later on. There was an interesting partnership
:08:15. > :08:19.on the flanks. It was a smaller back row compared to the Ulster back row,
:08:20. > :08:25.but they were so much quicker on the field. Underhill was outstanding,
:08:26. > :08:30.dynamic and really quick. They were just a yard sharper yesterday all
:08:31. > :08:34.afternoon. The Ospreys, with that result, have one foot in the
:08:35. > :08:38.play-offs. But Ulster still mathematically have a chance, but it
:08:39. > :08:43.will take a miracle if they are to get there. The Scarlets then
:08:44. > :08:46.travelled to Galway yesterday knowing that victory would put them
:08:47. > :08:48.in the semifinals with one range to spear.
:08:49. > :09:15.-- one round to spare. Good work, Evans. An opportunity
:09:16. > :09:22.now. Did not need it. He will go all the way, after great work from
:09:23. > :09:27.Evans, and just the start that Scarlets wanted.
:09:28. > :09:38.This is better from the Scarlets, can they capitalise the posts? Wide
:09:39. > :09:49.no-ball. Evans goes over for a second try.
:09:50. > :09:57.Good work from John Davies. He off-loads. Ken Owens once again,
:09:58. > :10:06.does well, stays on his feet, places the ball. The off-load from Evans.
:10:07. > :10:15.Inside. Evans's second try. That could be one of the tries of the
:10:16. > :10:26.season. Rob Evans, from his namesake Jonathan. Good build-up play.
:10:27. > :10:40.A great off-load. He's got two tries, perfect off-load this time to
:10:41. > :10:41.the other winger, Liam Williams. All Halloran finds Farrell. Farrell on
:10:42. > :10:59.the far side. Davis. This is where he is
:11:00. > :11:09.dangerous. So quick. There he goes. Outside the back row. Simple pass,
:11:10. > :11:13.into the hands. Replacement scrum-half Gareth Davies.
:11:14. > :11:18.We will enjoy the fact that we have qualified now with the range to go.
:11:19. > :11:22.It was not looking too good, so it has been a great fightback for the
:11:23. > :11:26.guys and they have been consistent over the last 18 matches. Very
:11:27. > :11:35.pleased to have achieved that goal, and now we can get ready for next
:11:36. > :11:40.week. 16 wins in 18 games. They have been
:11:41. > :11:41.a joy to watch so far this season. Yesterday they were utterly
:11:42. > :11:50.ruthless. They kept the ball in hand in the
:11:51. > :11:54.first hour. There was weak defence on the flanks for Connacht. They
:11:55. > :12:01.certainly exploited that. That is what confidence does. The support
:12:02. > :12:06.play was good, they blew them away in the first-half. I do not want to
:12:07. > :12:14.sound cliched, but always a tough place to go. To score your four try
:12:15. > :12:21.bonus point, with the wind against you, that takes some doing. I love
:12:22. > :12:28.watching the Scarlets because there were some really intricate moves.
:12:29. > :12:33.Given the 50-50 pass, off-load, it is high risk, high reward. Too often
:12:34. > :12:38.in the modern game, coaches are telling people to hold onto the
:12:39. > :12:42.ball, do not get the 50-50. They have a good defensive set. A couple
:12:43. > :12:50.of passes, not great passes. That is a little bit behind. They have got
:12:51. > :12:53.bags of talent, pace and power in the support lines. They are all
:12:54. > :12:56.comfortable on the ball. All of the forwards, I'm sure that the practice
:12:57. > :13:04.that a lot in training as well. It was Pat Lam's last day yesterday.
:13:05. > :13:12.The front five have the ball in this clip. The two front row players
:13:13. > :13:18.involved. As Martin says, they have just developed this game now.
:13:19. > :13:22.Everyone is included, does not matter if they are centre, a
:13:23. > :13:28.forward, they are all the. The fling with a lot of confidence. It is
:13:29. > :13:32.just... It is when you're winning and when you're playing, and I do
:13:33. > :13:40.think that if you are playing often, people say, they are playing too
:13:41. > :13:46.many games, if you notice players playing exceptionally well, it is
:13:47. > :13:47.because they are playing every game, confident. They come forward each
:13:48. > :13:56.other. You need freedom from cultures as
:13:57. > :14:01.well. On some of those 50-50 is there, the players would not be
:14:02. > :14:06.trying them if they would be pulled up on Monday. The coaches must be
:14:07. > :14:10.telling them to express themselves. They're not the biggest or most
:14:11. > :14:17.powerful of teams, but they are the leading to watch. Be in controlled
:14:18. > :14:22.the ball is the Kiwi blueprints was no surprise that it is a Kiwi. You
:14:23. > :14:27.can carry passengers and today's game. If you look at the New Zealand
:14:28. > :14:32.players, they are playing exceptionally well. I've was at a
:14:33. > :14:35.conference, if you are a centre, you know you will get a good pass off
:14:36. > :14:39.the front five. And professional player should have the ability and
:14:40. > :14:46.work on the ability to give and take a pass and run into space, so it is
:14:47. > :14:50.nice to see. Rob Evans has had a phenomenal seasons, but I think an
:14:51. > :14:55.especially in the last couple of games in the Six Nations was immense
:14:56. > :14:59.and he is kept at foregoing. Briefly Martyn, belief is coming through
:15:00. > :15:04.now. They could deal with the late withdrawal of John Barclay yesterday
:15:05. > :15:09.without seem bother. Is James Davies who has probably been there best
:15:10. > :15:14.player but Will Boyde came in and was outstanding. Ken Olins, so
:15:15. > :15:20.they've got some real strength in depth here. Evans was on a bench
:15:21. > :15:25.yesterday, Van der Merwe who would walk into most sides. The creators
:15:26. > :15:27.in depth there are so it's exciting times for the Scarlets. Critical
:15:28. > :15:31.whisper the Scarlets and Ospreys ahead of the final round of the
:15:32. > :15:34.regular season. Leinster we know have already qualified for the
:15:35. > :15:39.semifinals. Could they retain top seeding this weekend? Munster needed
:15:40. > :15:41.one more point to join them in the top two. Let's find out how they got
:15:42. > :15:51.on. There was a real face slap of a
:15:52. > :15:55.match in Dublin as Leinster look to consolidate their status as top dogs
:15:56. > :15:59.of the regular season. They were first out of the blocks with this
:16:00. > :16:04.try by Ryan. There was then an historic score by all clone. His
:16:05. > :16:09.counter into the corner was the 652nd try in the games brought one
:16:10. > :16:12.of the season, a condition record. Glasgow made a real fist of it in
:16:13. > :16:19.the second half with three tries of their own. This one by Finn Russell
:16:20. > :16:23.put them in the lead. But with six minutes left, Julie Carberry's
:16:24. > :16:28.penalty put Leinster back in front. Just before the death, it was
:16:29. > :16:33.shilling in the meter time as the lights failed, leaving fans to make
:16:34. > :16:41.their own fun. But certainly, no one is left in the dark about Leinster's
:16:42. > :16:46.championship credentials. Munster are the other team with a home
:16:47. > :16:50.play-off tie. They enjoyed a regulation bonus try point in
:16:51. > :16:53.Treviso. Two of the tries came in the first tab including the straw
:16:54. > :16:59.through the post for full-back Simon Zabel. This was the bonus point
:17:00. > :17:04.score, eight Jack O'Donoghue on the end of a no one in particular pass
:17:05. > :17:07.to sprint clear and score under the posts. And it will take a cup
:17:08. > :17:17.performance to tackle Munster in the play-offs. Just to confirm then,
:17:18. > :17:20.Leinster and Munster will be at home for the semifinals although Munster
:17:21. > :17:22.could still usurp Leinster as top seeds. The semifinals although
:17:23. > :17:25.Munster could still usurp Leinster as top seeds. This ballots have got
:17:26. > :17:29.their spot and will travel to either Dublin or Limerick. The Ospreys need
:17:30. > :17:33.just one point from their game against the Scarlets next week. Also
:17:34. > :17:35.need a bonus point against Leinster to stand any chance of sneaking in
:17:36. > :17:43.at the Ospreys' expense. One thing we can guarantee is that
:17:44. > :17:46.next week's derby is going to be less tense than we thought,
:17:47. > :17:51.especially from the Scarlets' point of view. Yes, but they both will won
:17:52. > :17:56.this week and I think it is just keeping that momentum going now. I
:17:57. > :18:00.think that is key. Wherever they go, it'll be a tough, tough game, see a
:18:01. > :18:06.unique to the momentum going. It is a showpiece game, so hopefully
:18:07. > :18:09.everyone will go and watch it. Create a great atmosphere and it
:18:10. > :18:13.will be a great day out, but I think if you are playing for one of the
:18:14. > :18:16.other sides come at you desperately want to win that local derby and
:18:17. > :18:21.just to keep that form going, keep momentum going and keep it into the
:18:22. > :18:26.semifinal. That is critical, isn't it? You could argue playing devils
:18:27. > :18:29.advocate that the Scarlets have nothing to gain by winning this game
:18:30. > :18:34.but if they roost the Ospreys men have to travel to Munster Leinster,
:18:35. > :18:39.that will knock their confidence. It's true though, isn't it? Momentum
:18:40. > :18:44.is everything and to lose to your nearest rivals, like you say with
:18:45. > :18:50.the semifinal is not ideal, so both teams should go fully loaded. There
:18:51. > :18:54.are little injuries and the likes, but you need to carry the momentum
:18:55. > :18:58.and the Scarlets in particular have a good run under their belts. It is
:18:59. > :19:06.a home fixture for them. They don't like each other, the Scarlets and
:19:07. > :19:09.Ospreys. I was hearing that if you are playing well, your confidence is
:19:10. > :19:13.high, you just keep it going now and just enjoy the game and enjoy the
:19:14. > :19:17.game. They have a week off after because there is two weeks before
:19:18. > :19:22.the semifinal sure they should be enough to be belting game because
:19:23. > :19:25.there is a lot online personally and collectively as well, so it should
:19:26. > :19:32.be a humdinger next week. And you can watch every minute of it here on
:19:33. > :19:43.Scrum V live. That game is ours and start at 5:05pm. Club rugby on S4
:19:44. > :19:47.season have the derby played in Finland. That's all next week.
:19:48. > :19:54.Let's talk about the Lions. It was a week ago last Wednesday that the
:19:55. > :19:59.squad was announced. 41 players just 15 of them have experienced the
:20:00. > :20:02.lines before. The rest of them, it is a totally new experience. One of
:20:03. > :20:09.the guys who has been there and done it is North and he is most pundits's
:20:10. > :20:12.favourites to start on one of the wings but he is taking nothing for
:20:13. > :20:25.granted. I can't up with him in London earlier this week. -- I
:20:26. > :20:29.caught up with him in London. To be selected is amazing. You know, a
:20:30. > :20:33.real honour again to go on tour and hopefully I can get some game time
:20:34. > :20:37.as well. This season has been particularly strange in the sense of
:20:38. > :20:42.up and down. A few injuries along the way so it has been a difficult
:20:43. > :20:46.one for me. Obviously, I had a bit of form leading to the Six Nations
:20:47. > :20:51.and carried it through which is good, so I felt I could give myself
:20:52. > :20:56.a chance and that's all you really want. That game against Ireland, how
:20:57. > :21:00.satisfying was that, to silence the critics? The most press is
:21:01. > :21:06.particularly pointy sometimes, so it was brilliant to find that I could
:21:07. > :21:14.go back to the form I know I can play and really kick on. North is
:21:15. > :21:17.back with a vengeance! Do you think Wales are fortunate to have 12 in
:21:18. > :21:21.their squad or do you think that is about right? The players they have
:21:22. > :21:26.picked, in the Six Nations I think they really shone. They showed real
:21:27. > :21:31.glances of what they could did do and I think that performance really
:21:32. > :21:36.shows when we are in from the heart. You are there for a reason, to do a
:21:37. > :21:41.job. I think especially the back three he has picked shows a real
:21:42. > :21:48.mixture of speed, physicality, a skill set, work great and it's all
:21:49. > :21:51.there. It's not the ability to play in your position that the ability to
:21:52. > :21:58.play into or maybe three positions as well. Somewhere Britain captain.
:21:59. > :22:03.He needed a change in the Six Nations. It was better for himself
:22:04. > :22:09.over the team to understand and do his role. The Six Nations, he is one
:22:10. > :22:14.of the performers. Really chuffed for him to be captain for a second
:22:15. > :22:19.time. Do you think you can win? Yet, for sure. There is good quality in
:22:20. > :22:24.the squad and that shows what he wants to play, how he wants to play
:22:25. > :22:28.and I think toe to toe, it's going to go well. Once we all understand
:22:29. > :22:32.how he wants to play and then once we buy into that, we have those
:22:33. > :22:37.games are not what we need to, focus on those three test to hit it hard.
:22:38. > :22:45.Are you excited? I am very excited, yes. I think we all are, to be fair.
:22:46. > :22:50.The Lions' tour just weeks away now. George North as the stats showed
:22:51. > :22:54.there is the incumbent wing for the Alliance. He doesn't an absolute
:22:55. > :23:00.wonder try in the first test. A bit of rugby to be played first but he
:23:01. > :23:08.is your test RW? You can't pick a test team now. The way players are
:23:09. > :23:13.going, if he plays well, he's got everything. He's quick, powerful, it
:23:14. > :23:23.great finisher, good pedigree finisher. Hoping if he hits for then
:23:24. > :23:28.he's guaranteed a test place, but the form he is in now he's been
:23:29. > :23:31.picked, you're so many games in for it and so getting the combination of
:23:32. > :23:39.the midfield, the half-backs, the back three, the back row is a great
:23:40. > :23:44.position to fight for, so those three Test matches are going to be
:23:45. > :23:48.very, very interesting on form and combinations. It is worth putting a
:23:49. > :23:54.hand up for that happens no one put their hand up more emphatically than
:23:55. > :23:58.Faletau today, he scored a hat-trick. I think some people
:23:59. > :24:04.question him being selected which is ridiculous, he is world-class, he
:24:05. > :24:11.really is. To keep him out... I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up
:24:12. > :24:17.with six and Vunipola at eight. I think that is something they would
:24:18. > :24:21.look at. He has all the skills, Faletau, so a real bonus for the
:24:22. > :24:25.Lions that he is fit. That sells a good back row. Graham Henry
:24:26. > :24:29.described the itinerary as suicidal and he is not the only one to
:24:30. > :24:33.criticise the brutal schedule. Sam Warburton said he is relishing the
:24:34. > :24:37.fact there are so many tough games because it will make the team battle
:24:38. > :24:41.hardened head of the test as opposed to battle wearies, but as Martyn
:24:42. > :24:46.knows all too well, though Super Rugby games, people will want stick
:24:47. > :24:52.a big chunk. It will make it interesting for everyone. The player
:24:53. > :24:54.selection, the public will be watching, the travelling
:24:55. > :24:58.supporters... To go there and play the best sides and play against the
:24:59. > :25:04.best Kiwis, it is going to battle hardened them and there's going to
:25:05. > :25:09.be a lot of wheels turning over there, the players will be staying
:25:10. > :25:12.fit, players who have missed out may get the opportunity. People will say
:25:13. > :25:15.there are a Welshman in there, but I think Gatland, if it was a 50-50
:25:16. > :25:21.call, because Gatland knows those Welsh players better than opposition
:25:22. > :25:27.players, then maybe they will get the lucky call. But for me, if you
:25:28. > :25:31.look at people like Dan Biggar and Moriarty, the character that they
:25:32. > :25:36.have, they will try their utmost to get into that test size but gallant
:25:37. > :25:41.and his fellow management know then that those are the boys, they don't
:25:42. > :25:48.want to be second fiddle, they want to Windows Test matches. I think it
:25:49. > :25:53.is tough. You are not going to play in every match before the Test
:25:54. > :26:00.matches. You will maybe get to opportunities, maybe three to stick
:26:01. > :26:03.your first test. You need to say on tour and even if you are not
:26:04. > :26:06.selected, you have to push everything in training. Gallant as a
:26:07. > :26:14.coach who looks at training as much as how well you play. They have
:26:15. > :26:18.learned from previous tours. In all five, you knew instantly who was in
:26:19. > :26:22.the test and they got it right in the last two tours. We could talk
:26:23. > :26:25.about this all day but we have other stuff to get on with. Let's move
:26:26. > :26:28.effects of April 12 in the Blues were hoping to follow their
:26:29. > :26:38.performance on Judgment Day with a big win over zebra.
:26:39. > :26:51.COMMENTATOR: Over to cook. Lovely ball to Nick Williams. Great pop.
:26:52. > :26:57.Jenkins. Ali outside. That is a superb try. Some fabulous off-loads
:26:58. > :27:03.from the back row boys. There was another chance. Hell on the outside.
:27:04. > :27:09.Great pace from Summerhill. Last man, what a finish. What a finish
:27:10. > :27:12.from Alex Summerhill. Interesting situation this one. Great scrum.
:27:13. > :27:29.Last time they went down again, the Blues. Penalty to Zebre. Queueing up
:27:30. > :27:32.outside it. Running around on the outside, ready, and that is
:27:33. > :27:35.something that will leave the Blues livid. They wanted to make a
:27:36. > :27:40.substitution and now they will have to go down to 14 men. They are going
:27:41. > :27:49.to be absolutely furious, I can tell. And this time, no doubt from
:27:50. > :27:53.Frank Murphy as the Blues continue to fold under pressure from the
:27:54. > :27:54.Zebre scrum, it is straight underneath the post for a penalty
:27:55. > :28:13.try. Here we are, that clears it. Because
:28:14. > :28:21.of the penalty. In trouble. And the Blues have got a totally unexpected
:28:22. > :28:30.try. Thomas Williams, well, that is an absolute gift. Great work by
:28:31. > :28:36.Thomas Williams. Thomas Williams goes one way then the other. Friends
:28:37. > :28:46.of! Was an individual scorer from Thomas Williams. In comes Nick
:28:47. > :28:58.Williams... Doesn't go that on this first attempt. Skips up and got it.
:28:59. > :29:03.Playing advantage at the moment. Blues still at 14 men, remember, as
:29:04. > :29:07.they come round the corner. And over they go. The try is raining in at
:29:08. > :29:28.the moment. REFEREE: You have entered into that
:29:29. > :29:34.tackle using no arms. It's a yellow card, OK? You have seen the footage.
:29:35. > :29:44.That is not acceptable, it's a punch in the face. It's a straight red.
:29:45. > :29:49.Waiting. Looking for a secondary drive and it is not coming. It is
:29:50. > :29:53.coming from the Blues. Excellent goals. Get set, this time... Yes, he
:29:54. > :30:13.does. Credit to them, they came back,
:30:14. > :30:17.stuck in there, deserved a point. We had some youngsters, very young kids
:30:18. > :30:21.at the top end of air Academy that have got an opportunity tonight.
:30:22. > :30:24.Ultimately as a team, second half, and probably when we made a few
:30:25. > :30:34.changes, we struggled. A scruffy performance overall from
:30:35. > :30:37.the Blues, but he also names of individuals that did have
:30:38. > :30:43.encouraging displayed, not to mention the man of the match, Tomos
:30:44. > :30:51.Williams. I was gutted for him, cannot imagine what he was feeling
:30:52. > :30:57.when that wonder try was disallowed. It is a brilliant try. Spots the
:30:58. > :31:01.short side, nobody there. People should use this more often, dummy
:31:02. > :31:06.kick, because the players are turning. Brilliant dive to finish.
:31:07. > :31:11.And fortunately there is a knock-on, so that is what you have got to do,
:31:12. > :31:16.heads down, back yourself, dummy kick, step of the right, pace,
:31:17. > :31:21.brilliant dive to finish. That is it. We will not see that ever again!
:31:22. > :31:36.It will be on his YouTube show real. On his! It will be on his phone,
:31:37. > :31:42.maybe. That is what happens. That is reality for you.
:31:43. > :31:46.Do you think he is a contender for the summer tour? If it is a
:31:47. > :31:50.development tour, he is exactly the kind of player of you want to see
:31:51. > :31:55.what he can did the next level. I think so. You know what like candy.
:31:56. > :31:59.Is it worth bringing somebody in that you have not seen? You still
:32:00. > :32:04.have to remember you are representing Wales, you cannot take
:32:05. > :32:08.too many youngsters because they are going to be very physical encounters
:32:09. > :32:12.and those two games. But there is an opportunity to try some of these
:32:13. > :32:16.youngsters. It is the right balance you need when he squad.
:32:17. > :32:32.Plenty of good sevens formic braids to choose from. Is Evans top of the
:32:33. > :32:37.Pelle? Jenkins is top of the pile. He is incredibly fit, you get over
:32:38. > :32:43.the ball as well as any seven. He is the only new caps for Wales since
:32:44. > :32:47.the 2015 World Cup. Like you say, all of these clips, he can carry, he
:32:48. > :32:52.can do everything. We have some any good sevens at the moment, Thomas
:32:53. > :32:58.Young in Wasps, great thinking players as well. Our top two Max
:32:59. > :33:08.Evans or are we in New Zealand with the Lions. -- are top to sevens.
:33:09. > :33:14.Leigh Griffiths is coming through as well. But I think Ellis Jenkins is a
:33:15. > :33:17.leader as well. He has been made captain from a young age and so I
:33:18. > :33:24.think he will definitely be playing in the summer for Wales. One area
:33:25. > :33:26.they struggle with his upfront, particularly the front row. Thomas
:33:27. > :33:33.Francis, the Blues were hoping to bring him next season as part of a
:33:34. > :33:38.contract deal with the WRU. That is voluntary and he is staying at
:33:39. > :33:45.Exeter. They were not willing to pay the transfer fee. They will have to
:33:46. > :33:49.find somebody to plug the gap. Moving on to the Dragons, they were
:33:50. > :33:53.facing fellow strugglers Edinburgh on the weekend and they were hoping
:33:54. > :33:56.for an elusive away win, something they have not managed for more than
:33:57. > :34:08.a calendar year. For the Dragons it was a last chance
:34:09. > :34:14.for a first away win of the season. For much of the matching looked very
:34:15. > :34:20.much to beyond. This helps the Dragons into a 10-3 into the lead.
:34:21. > :34:31.After the break, a neat Stanford glance by Jack Dixon. Call me was
:34:32. > :34:40.able to stroll over unopposed. First, Dragons's old boy sent this
:34:41. > :34:47.man over. Then he created again. This path opened it up for Damien
:34:48. > :34:55.Highland to go over for the hosts's second try. And then with a couple
:34:56. > :35:04.of minutes left, Edinburgh went for the win, and the plunged over,
:35:05. > :35:12.leaving the Dragons to clutch defeat from the drawers of victory -- jaws
:35:13. > :35:17.of victory. Connacht, in needs, they will play
:35:18. > :35:23.the seven placed team in the Aviva Premiership. The winner of both ties
:35:24. > :35:31.will then play off. The Dragons could end up finishing 11, because
:35:32. > :35:38.of the Italian Derby which will condemn Dragons to 11 domestic and
:35:39. > :35:45.win against the Blues. Nor are we wins for more than a calendar year,
:35:46. > :35:53.sorry statistic. It is a poor statistic and a difficult season for
:35:54. > :35:58.them. They need the decision at the AGM. Hopefully common-sense will
:35:59. > :36:04.prevail and the right decision will be made. That date is looming large
:36:05. > :36:08.now for Dragons fans and anyone with an interest in the region.
:36:09. > :36:13.Moving on to something different, Darren Carew suffered a life
:36:14. > :36:18.changing injury ten years ago in Afghanistan, it brought to an end
:36:19. > :36:24.his military career. Recently he has joined forces with WRU and pioneered
:36:25. > :36:32.a scheme to help children with disabilities.
:36:33. > :36:36.I was out on patrol in Afghanistan. When all of a sudden there was this
:36:37. > :36:45.massive explosion and I was thrown up into the top corner of the
:36:46. > :36:48.vehicle. The dust, it is in your eyes, mouth, ears, you cannot see
:36:49. > :36:53.anything initially from the explosion. You can taste blood in
:36:54. > :36:58.your mouth. Slowly but surely, the dust starts to settle and you wake
:36:59. > :37:02.up out of that into a different world. First thing you hear our
:37:03. > :37:08.screens. Two of my team members were pretty seriously injured. I felt a
:37:09. > :37:13.bit of discomfort in my left leg, but I was more focused on just
:37:14. > :37:18.trying to get my team back to safety.
:37:19. > :37:24.Darren sustained multiple injuries to his left leg but left in pain for
:37:25. > :37:33.four years before finally opting for amputation. I am better with my leg
:37:34. > :37:38.off. I was a slave to medication. Now I do not take anything, I'm able
:37:39. > :37:44.to fully participate, I am a father and a husband again, I am me again.
:37:45. > :37:51.Darren Carew returned to rugby as a way of coping with poster Matic
:37:52. > :37:55.stress disorder, and has now taken to helping children with
:37:56. > :37:59.disabilities. When I spoke to teachers originally back when I
:38:00. > :38:03.first started thinking about this a few years ago there was nothing
:38:04. > :38:10.there for these children. What we are looking for our little passes. I
:38:11. > :38:19.developed this programme. We go into schools once a week over a four or
:38:20. > :38:22.five week period, giving them a one-hour session, completely
:38:23. > :38:25.tailored to this environment. Then we get all of the schools that
:38:26. > :38:31.participate together and we finish up with a festival. It is a massive
:38:32. > :38:35.confidence builder for the kids. You have to run forward and touch
:38:36. > :38:37.the person in front of you on the shoulder.
:38:38. > :38:41.After that we set up a community club in the local area so that the
:38:42. > :38:46.children that have gone to that can continue playing. What has the
:38:47. > :38:49.feedback been like from the children themselves so far? It has been
:38:50. > :38:54.fantastic. I can remember speaking to a group of the kids at one of the
:38:55. > :39:01.first festival is that I ran. I said, who is your favourite Welsh
:39:02. > :39:05.rugby player? They said, you are. I said, who is your favourite Ospreys
:39:06. > :39:12.player? He said, youth. It just goes to show, they buy into it. It works
:39:13. > :39:21.both ways, I enjoy it as much as they do. If ICT hot floor, I want
:39:22. > :39:26.you to imagine that the Flores like liquid hot lava. When I started
:39:27. > :39:30.talking to Ryan Jones about my role, I said that I'm used to making a
:39:31. > :39:33.difference and I feel that genuinely I make a difference when I run these
:39:34. > :39:42.sessions. The children are amazing, they make my life so much easier. It
:39:43. > :39:46.fills me with confidence. Because of PTSD and other things, I was full of
:39:47. > :39:49.self-doubt. When I finish these sessions, I am always on top of the
:39:50. > :39:52.world. I love what I do. What a brilliant
:39:53. > :39:57.story. Brilliant stuff from Darren Carew.
:39:58. > :40:02.In the Premiership, the race for the title is set for a dramatic
:40:03. > :40:04.conclusion. We have all of the action from the final round of
:40:05. > :40:25.fixtures. At the top of the table clash,
:40:26. > :40:30.Merthyr were victorious. Pat Lewis scored all of the three tries before
:40:31. > :40:40.the late Richard Powell penalty sealed the win. Bedwas on now in
:40:41. > :40:47.second place. The champions will not be in the play-offs after their
:40:48. > :40:54.defeat. There was the satisfaction of this so will splendid score by
:40:55. > :41:00.their fly-half. The chief beneficiaries of that
:41:01. > :41:02.failure were RGC, who won with a bonus point at home. This was one of
:41:03. > :41:21.two TRANSLATION:. It means that the last semifinal
:41:22. > :41:32.place will be decided next week. The compelling game in Tier two saw
:41:33. > :41:40.Bridgend's play-off hopes remain bubbling. And the table says that it
:41:41. > :41:46.is any three from four to join Newport in the play-offs.
:41:47. > :41:51.Thank you. We have about one minute left, so we will return to super
:41:52. > :41:58.Saturday. Next week, Scarlets against Ospreys. We said that the
:41:59. > :42:02.Scarlets technically have nothing to play for, but they will surely go
:42:03. > :42:07.hell for leather. Probably the former Welsh team in the league, do
:42:08. > :42:14.you see them winning at home? I think the confidence is high. It is
:42:15. > :42:16.going to be close, because the Ospreys have clearly rediscovered
:42:17. > :42:20.their more jaw after that miserable run of four defeats. They are
:42:21. > :42:26.beginning to look like the team that we know that they are capable of
:42:27. > :42:33.being. It is difficult to predict without knowing what teams that will
:42:34. > :42:36.be picked, but I tend to think as well that with the home advantage
:42:37. > :42:46.the Scarlets might just get that one. I hope that it is a great
:42:47. > :42:51.finish to the Pro12 fixture list. It is a big game for both regions, I
:42:52. > :42:57.hope there is a big crowd there. 15,000 is the capacity. Hopefully it
:42:58. > :43:04.will be a sell-out. That is all that we have time for on Scrum V this
:43:05. > :43:10.evening. Hope you enjoy new -- hope you can join as on Saturday. What
:43:11. > :43:15.better way to end the season then with a humdinger of a West Wales
:43:16. > :43:18.derby between Ospreys and the Scarlets. We will be there. Hope to
:43:19. > :44:02.see you soon. Explorer Alice Morrison is taking
:44:03. > :44:06.an epic 2,000-mile trek across the Sahara,
:44:07. > :44:09.over the Atlas Mountains... ..and through ancient history.
:44:10. > :44:13.I love touching history. It'll be tough.
:44:14. > :44:16.He's just cut a bit of the heart.
