:00:48. > :00:52.Torres might have departed but only slightly less destructive relatives

:00:53. > :00:57.are still hanging around in Edinburgh as the Six Nations

:00:58. > :01:00.continues to take the rugby world by storm. Stunning confrontations in

:01:01. > :01:09.two weeks ago mean the third round of matches have a lot to live up to.

:01:10. > :01:18.It makes the Six Nations. But nothing is given away lightly, you

:01:19. > :01:26.have to work for everything. And this. Three tries for CJ Stander,

:01:27. > :01:38.nine in total, the first bonus point, the hat-trick. This was too

:01:39. > :01:45.easy. Too hard to take. Not much fear that easy would be an overused

:01:46. > :01:53.word in Cardiff. Someone could take it easy. But in the main, this was

:01:54. > :02:12.best viewed on the edge of your seat. Short of the line. Never short

:02:13. > :02:19.on drama. The ferocity of Moriarty. The face of Dan Biggar. The race of

:02:20. > :02:24.Dan Biggar. Incoming, the pace of Elliot Daly. The narrowing of the

:02:25. > :02:36.gap, the growing tension, the clearance. The pace of Elliot Daly.

:02:37. > :02:48.It is the making of the Six Nations but it is not easy.

:02:49. > :02:58.And if you do make scoring look easy. Stuart Hogg, there might be a

:02:59. > :03:08.Price. Laidlaw. Leading to the impact of the bench. Groundhog Day.

:03:09. > :03:17.The waiting game. Impact off the bench, Tim Swinson, but nothing is

:03:18. > :03:31.easy. And the breaking of the Scottish blockade. Groundhog Day?

:03:32. > :03:34.Not this time. Done the hard way. While both Scotland and Wales

:03:35. > :03:39.respond to those agonising and physically bruising defeats two

:03:40. > :03:43.weeks ago might be the key factor in determining today's outcome. A

:03:44. > :03:47.pivotal match for both, defeat and all hopes of being involved in the

:03:48. > :03:52.title checkdown are gone for another season and this is one of the Six

:03:53. > :03:56.Nations' remarkable statistics that Wales are going for a tenth

:03:57. > :04:03.consecutive victory against Scotland- that kind of run has to

:04:04. > :04:09.end some time. Or maybe not. England will expect to be three from three

:04:10. > :04:13.after tomorrow with Italy but it is for the chasing pack today to prove

:04:14. > :04:18.they are in the hunt. The winners here at Murrayfield and at the Aviva

:04:19. > :04:23.Stadium will still be in contention. Come the end of this weekend. I

:04:24. > :04:28.shall start by telling you about the weather, it is milder than we

:04:29. > :04:32.expected but the wind still could have a considerable bearing on the

:04:33. > :04:39.outcome. Even though our position is sheltered beneath the roof and on

:04:40. > :04:43.the pitch, we could have costs of 40 mph this afternoon and you would

:04:44. > :04:48.think that at key moments, that could have some bearing on the game.

:04:49. > :04:53.Irrespective of that, this is a big game for both sides so good after

:04:54. > :04:59.mean to Jonathan, Keith and Andy. This has been an encouraging start,

:05:00. > :05:06.the middle game, at the end of this game, if either side has played,

:05:07. > :05:11.happy and confident, they will move on and whoever loses his art. If

:05:12. > :05:14.that happens for Scotland, the trip to Twickenham is very difficult and

:05:15. > :05:20.it ominously looks like the years gone by. The Scotland side are

:05:21. > :05:28.better than that. For the Welsh, is two weeks ago cause for optimism

:05:29. > :05:32.going forward or regret? I think optimism, it was a great performance

:05:33. > :05:36.against a very good England side but the way they did not close down,

:05:37. > :05:47.there is regret also. Big game today. And for the neutral corner?

:05:48. > :05:53.They played incredibly well, both sides, two weeks ago, this is set up

:05:54. > :05:57.for an absolute belter. We don't want to Labour the point but if you

:05:58. > :06:01.look at the records over the past decade, Ronnie Scott 's perspective

:06:02. > :06:12.it has been ten years of despair and for Wales, ten years after light. --

:06:13. > :06:13.from the Scottish perspective. Scotland hoping to end the hideous

:06:14. > :06:40.run in this fixture. My gosh! Hold it down! Through for the try!

:06:41. > :06:55.Williams, the try scorer, does it again. My gosh! What I try for

:06:56. > :07:04.George Lamb! Shane Williams has won the most dramatic game. You have

:07:05. > :07:10.seen your fair share of Scotland and Wales matches, what will your side

:07:11. > :07:13.be targeting? Our challenge is to bring intensity and execution, which

:07:14. > :07:19.we showed two weeks ago and unfortunately we lost the last game

:07:20. > :07:22.so it is being accurate when we have the ball and putting Scotland under

:07:23. > :07:27.pressure. It is great to see the conditions this afternoon, slightly

:07:28. > :07:32.drier and the wind is obviously quite low. When you have a

:07:33. > :07:37.performance like Wales against England and don't get the result,

:07:38. > :07:43.what is the overriding emotion? Deflated? Or has this spurred them

:07:44. > :07:47.on? You look forward to the next challenge and for us, it is

:07:48. > :07:51.replicating the intensity under pressure and looking forward to

:07:52. > :07:55.this, Scotland at home is always a challenge, we spoke about

:07:56. > :07:59.experience, we have a strong bench and a lot of confidence and self

:08:00. > :08:04.belief coming here to Murrayfield. It is the pressure to replicate

:08:05. > :08:07.that. Is more pressure today? This is much you must win to keep any

:08:08. > :08:15.championship aspirations you might still have a live? Pivotal for both

:08:16. > :08:20.sides. Whoever loses, you are out of the championship. We have not spoken

:08:21. > :08:24.about that. We have a lot of experience and this is a challenge

:08:25. > :08:28.to play and enjoy because international rugby is about

:08:29. > :08:34.enjoyment but skills under pressure will be the key. Over the years this

:08:35. > :08:39.game has a history of fantastic tries here, 40 years ago, Phil

:08:40. > :08:43.Bennett scoring that wonderful try just down there. But you must make

:08:44. > :08:46.the most possession and if you look at those statistics so far this

:08:47. > :08:53.year, Wales are not really doing that? They are trying to develop the

:08:54. > :08:58.game and change their style of play but with attack, they have lots of

:08:59. > :09:01.possession and territory, they go through the phases but unfortunately

:09:02. > :09:10.the end result is not as good as they want. If you look at the amount

:09:11. > :09:14.of possession, 23, twice as much as England and with the total amount of

:09:15. > :09:21.rucks, they are way behind everyone and that is lacking. Everything else

:09:22. > :09:24.is going well- possession, territory, momentum, but you must

:09:25. > :09:29.score points and that is a problem. That is the swaying, Scotland have

:09:30. > :09:36.improved because of that, scoring more tries. They have to improve on

:09:37. > :09:42.their try scoring ratio when they have momentum. One of the big

:09:43. > :09:47.talking points after two weeks ago was Moriarty being taken off. It is

:09:48. > :09:53.easy to say if only, what was your view? I note the noises that came

:09:54. > :09:59.out of the Welsh management was he had emptied the tank, GPS data and

:10:00. > :10:03.this was as far as he had gone but he was having an amazing game, the

:10:04. > :10:09.great work he was doing, the pure level of those hits he was involved

:10:10. > :10:15.with, every second. Heavy carrying jets but his speed from the floor

:10:16. > :10:18.was amazing and every time he had an impact it told, it shook up the

:10:19. > :10:23.crowd and England with a couple of really good double-team jets in here

:10:24. > :10:29.and this lovely one that I like... Towards the end of this. That extra

:10:30. > :10:36.evil. He was involved in every single part of a very good

:10:37. > :10:42.first-half. I like this one, two great players, having some extra,

:10:43. > :10:46.but little push and tapping on the head, did not like that. Somebody

:10:47. > :10:51.missing two weeks ago which might have determined the outcome was

:10:52. > :10:55.George North, back today. If you scored he would be the first player

:10:56. > :11:03.in history to score in six consecutive Six Nations matches. 24

:11:04. > :11:09.years old. 66 caps. You can question some of the Scotland structure and

:11:10. > :11:15.defence but not his pace and balance and the strength he has and his

:11:16. > :11:21.power. This was number five in that consecutive list. Two weeks ago.

:11:22. > :11:27.Three weeks ago. You can see his leg, it was strapped, he is a real

:11:28. > :11:32.threat and these are just two examples, the threat comes from all

:11:33. > :11:40.different distances, passing on his own line, he can run the distance.

:11:41. > :11:44.Once upon a time 42 years ago, 140,000 people were packed into

:11:45. > :11:48.Murrayfield to see this fixture. And as ever, there is a huge Welsh

:11:49. > :11:53.contingent on the streets of Edinburgh and a lot of them here

:11:54. > :11:56.without tickets. For the Scottish fans who have been invigorated by

:11:57. > :12:04.recent performances, this is a day for their team and their coach to

:12:05. > :12:08.rewrite history. You had your hand forced slightly with selection for

:12:09. > :12:12.this match with so many injuries after the French game. Are you

:12:13. > :12:20.confident in this side and that they can reverse their fortunes? Training

:12:21. > :12:25.has been going well, we had a good week, Gray has not been available

:12:26. > :12:30.with injury. We would have to see who was going to be on the team

:12:31. > :12:39.sheet. There has been great energy at training. And it is time for the

:12:40. > :12:43.other players to step up. John and the people around him. We're pretty

:12:44. > :12:47.confident playing at home, we don't want to be overconfident because we

:12:48. > :12:53.need to do things well playing a good team but there is real

:12:54. > :13:04.excitement. How has Ali Price been feeling? Big day for him? Yes, Jonny

:13:05. > :13:11.Gray is calling the line-outs, they know each other. They are

:13:12. > :13:18.combination. His first start. He has been very good this week and he has

:13:19. > :13:24.been part of the strategy group trying to get this organised and he

:13:25. > :13:29.is really looking forward to it. A variety of players missing from the

:13:30. > :13:39.Scotland side, notably Greg Laidlaw. And their captain. Ali Price wearing

:13:40. > :13:44.number nine. Is Greg a big loss? Price has had a great season for

:13:45. > :13:47.Glasgow with two caps from the bench but this is different, starting.

:13:48. > :13:52.Going to bed last night, he will have known he was starting, he has

:13:53. > :13:57.played this 100 times but he brings some pace and spark. This is what he

:13:58. > :14:05.has been doing for Glasgow all season, he has that attacking

:14:06. > :14:09.threat. Real pace from real distance and he has confidence and exuberance

:14:10. > :14:16.about him. I want to see that spark today. This is what we do not want.

:14:17. > :14:20.Coming from the bench, tries to make the impact, tempestuous, he needs to

:14:21. > :14:26.have his temperament correct today, to bring that place, quick

:14:27. > :14:30.penalties, everything he did for Glasgow, the reason he has been

:14:31. > :14:39.selected. But just how that cool thinking in his head. I think that

:14:40. > :14:44.he makes Glasgow take. Russell will have to take control of that.

:14:45. > :14:45.Because Laidlaw is not there. But his agent is and you do not mess

:14:46. > :15:22.with him! Nobody messes with Jason White. Not

:15:23. > :15:31.just a lot of caps, several hats as well. On the point of view of

:15:32. > :15:36.great's agent, what is the promises? He had the operation on his

:15:37. > :15:41.ligaments so Greg is at home recovering, looking after his oldest

:15:42. > :15:45.boy and he is driving him up the wall! His recovery time should be

:15:46. > :15:53.around ten weeks and back playing before the end of the season. Great

:15:54. > :15:57.news. From the Scotland captaincy had, what must Barclay bring extra

:15:58. > :16:02.to this match that he has not had to do without the captaincy? Those

:16:03. > :16:11.extra elements, small work with Ali Price today,, but the most important

:16:12. > :16:15.thing about being captain is you play your own game to the best of

:16:16. > :16:22.your ability and I am confident John will do that. Pivotal match for both

:16:23. > :16:27.sides, winning one and losing one, we have been watching the team's

:16:28. > :16:30.training, we had a nervous moment with Scotland, it did look like

:16:31. > :16:37.Gordon Reid had taken a bit of a knock? They are making sure they're

:16:38. > :16:40.ready for it. It looks like he perhaps twisted his ankle and he

:16:41. > :16:44.went for a walk and he looks like he is OK, hopefully he can join the

:16:45. > :16:48.team and that will be the key thing because it front row, the Glasgow

:16:49. > :16:52.front row, they need to improve upon their last performances to give us

:16:53. > :16:58.that scrum ball to let boys like Stuart Hogg get involved. Thank you.

:16:59. > :17:08.The front row will be the key element and we might not have a

:17:09. > :17:12.knock. Keith, this is your area. Talk to us about the penalty

:17:13. > :17:15.Scotland have been giving away in a front row and how key that battle

:17:16. > :17:22.will be? And believable, giving away eight penalties in the front row and

:17:23. > :17:29.if you look at Fagerson, on the right-hand side of the Scottish

:17:30. > :17:32.scrum, he has just too high. Legs too far back. There is the push and

:17:33. > :17:40.Ireland pushing across and targeting him. The reverse here, he is too

:17:41. > :17:44.low, his legs are too far back, this is a technical piece that needs to

:17:45. > :17:48.be done, he needs his right leg under his hip and in that position

:17:49. > :17:53.he has a chance to be in control and he is just young and he is trying to

:17:54. > :17:59.learn on and international arena. Against Ireland, he did not have any

:18:00. > :18:05.influence, only six scrums, against France it had a material impact with

:18:06. > :18:09.six penalties and you are giving away possession and territory and

:18:10. > :18:14.you must work very hard to get the ball back. Scotland have played the

:18:15. > :18:21.best scrums in this Six Nations, they will have a platform. It must

:18:22. > :18:26.be on the Wales game plan, scrum is a weakness and we must target that

:18:27. > :18:32.and we go with the best goal kickers in the world, three, six, nine, 12,

:18:33. > :18:37.build performance and points. Goal-kicking, in the absence of

:18:38. > :18:43.Laidlaw, Finn Russell has not done much of that internationally but he

:18:44. > :18:48.has a 50% record. And given the swirling conditions, this could be a

:18:49. > :18:55.very tight match, that could be a very important factor. To give him

:18:56. > :19:01.credit, 80% with Glasgow but Laidlaw is 90%. It might come down to the

:19:02. > :19:06.goal-kicking but Russell has got temperament, if he misses, it will

:19:07. > :19:11.not affect his game. He will be OK. With any certainty, I can say this,

:19:12. > :19:17.without fear of contradiction, there will be no repeat of what happened

:19:18. > :19:24.in this match when Wales played Scotland in 1963. There were 111

:19:25. > :19:33.line-outs! That will not happen this afternoon. We have blue skies and

:19:34. > :19:38.pyrotechnics. And the wind seems to be abating. Like France against

:19:39. > :19:44.Ireland, when the conditions gave us the opportunity for a fantastic

:19:45. > :19:48.match, we might get a repeat of that this afternoon and it is worth

:19:49. > :19:53.saying, by half-time in Dublin later on, we will have reached the halfway

:19:54. > :19:57.point in this championship and by then, one of the sides will be in

:19:58. > :20:03.contention and the other will be blown off course for another season.

:20:04. > :20:08.After two captivating weekends, what does the third instalment of the Six

:20:09. > :20:13.Nations have in store? The teams are lining up. Nvidia is to ask Andy and

:20:14. > :20:20.Jonathan what will happen, Keith, the verdict? I would like to seeing

:20:21. > :20:27.Scotland doing it. I am married to a Scottish woman. But I think Wales by

:20:28. > :20:28.a couple of points. Martyn Williams, Chris Paterson and Eddie Butler

:20:29. > :20:40.follow the anthems. # Mae hen wlad fy nhadau

:20:41. > :20:43.yn annwyl i mi # Gwlad beirdd a chantorion,

:20:44. > :20:49.enwogion o fri # Ei gwrol ryfelwyr,

:20:50. > :23:28.gwladgarwyr tra mad Good afternoon from Murrayfield,

:23:29. > :23:35.John Barclay leading Scotland for the first time from the start of the

:23:36. > :23:41.game. The new captain and a new spirit alive here at Murrayfield.

:23:42. > :23:45.Gordon Reid says this pack has to stand up today, nobody will make

:23:46. > :23:48.more tackles than Gray brothers as nobody knows more about Wales and

:23:49. > :23:56.the captain, John Barclay, of the Scarlets. Stuart Hogg scoring in the

:23:57. > :24:01.last 46 Nations games, Alex Dunbar has the same number of turnovers,

:24:02. > :24:11.although with no Laidlaw, can Russell kick his? The same Wales

:24:12. > :24:17.pack that started against England, the outstanding Ross Moriarty, Jake

:24:18. > :24:22.Ball in the second role. -- second row. And the same three quarters

:24:23. > :24:30.except for George North, tries in the last five Six Nations games for

:24:31. > :24:35.North, six of them would be a record. Ross Ford has more caps,

:24:36. > :24:41.104, and the rest of the Scottish bench put together. Charteris,

:24:42. > :24:53.Faletau and Roberts have 221 between them. The referee is John Lacey from

:24:54. > :24:58.Ireland, the ball has been delivered by the Royal Marines, who abseiled

:24:59. > :25:03.from the west stand. Special delivery of the ball. Scotland in

:25:04. > :25:13.their huddle, can they keep the spirit of factory over Ireland in

:25:14. > :25:19.round one against Wales? Both sides have played two, losing one and

:25:20. > :25:28.winning one. To have any tilt at the title, they need to win today.

:25:29. > :25:40.Finn Russell starting Scotland at home against Wales. Jonathan Davies.

:25:41. > :25:56.Catching for Wales on the edge of his own 22. Owens, the figure. --

:25:57. > :26:00.the hooker. Dan Biggar. Penalty against Scotland, onside. Good

:26:01. > :26:08.afternoon, Chris Paterson. Looking forward to this one. That was a well

:26:09. > :26:12.taken kick-off by Jonathan Davies, Wales looked very comfortable.

:26:13. > :26:21.Interesting to see the first tackle made by John Hardie, fully recovered

:26:22. > :26:28.from Paris. Dan Biggar keeping an eye on the flags over the stadium,

:26:29. > :26:36.the wind was due to drop and it has. It is behind Wales. In this first

:26:37. > :26:46.half. Biggar next 1-yard against Hardie. Over the halfway line. The

:26:47. > :26:53.first set piece from Scotland. Finn Russell made that tackle, you will

:26:54. > :27:00.know Dan Biggar very well. The line speed under pressure was there. Very

:27:01. > :27:10.physical. Fraser Brown is causing a mess, sloppy line-up from Wales.

:27:11. > :27:13.Fascinating battle between the flankers. Four openside flankers,

:27:14. > :27:35.that contact area is the key. Scotland have given away more

:27:36. > :27:58.penalties at the scrum than any other country.

:27:59. > :28:17.Ali Price. He came early in Paris for Greg Laidlaw. Penalty to

:28:18. > :28:20.Scotland. They have given away all of their penalties, Scotland, on the

:28:21. > :28:27.opposition ball, with their own ball, they have not been stable but

:28:28. > :28:32.have not given away penalties. Fantastic start, I got Stuart Hogg

:28:33. > :28:38.would have a crack. The referee's Jersey is flapping. The wind

:28:39. > :28:46.swirling at Murrayfield. It has not affected that kick. That is a good

:28:47. > :28:55.start from Scotland. He is getting talking to buy John Lacey. --

:28:56. > :29:08.getting a talking to from John Lacey. Fraser Brown, the attacking

:29:09. > :29:16.Scotland line-out to aim at. Gray setting up the driving maul. Ali

:29:17. > :29:24.Price. He is told to use it. The door closed on him quickly. Ken

:29:25. > :29:29.Owens with the tackle. Good work from the Scottish forwards, they

:29:30. > :29:32.have committed a lot of forwards to the ruck but there is the ball, on

:29:33. > :29:49.the edge of the Wales 22. Forced back out of the 22, still

:29:50. > :30:01.therefore Scotland. Jonny Gray, again. Finn Russell. Stuart Hogg

:30:02. > :30:07.waiting outside Hardie. Jones on the burst. Great passing out of contact

:30:08. > :30:15.by Scotland, Stuart Hogg to the ground.

:30:16. > :30:26.Number 8 Ryan Wilson drives it up. Richie Gray. Tackled by Alun Wyn

:30:27. > :30:31.Jones, among others. Penalty advantage being played for Scotland.

:30:32. > :30:40.Russell. Again it's a good tackle by Ken Owens, but back to the original

:30:41. > :30:45.penalty. Good start and attack. Very tight. Scotland didn't go wide until

:30:46. > :31:01.they got some momentum. Jonny Gray got the advantage. Fin Russell set

:31:02. > :31:05.it out wide. -- Finn. Goes for the strip of the ball which he does so

:31:06. > :31:10.well. When you miss the man, as he does on this occasion, he goes

:31:11. > :31:14.through. Hardie goes for the strip, misses it. Got to get the man down

:31:15. > :31:22.to the ground early. Great start from Scotland. Finn Russell, simple

:31:23. > :31:29.kick. He had one of these in Paris. It was a conversion. This,

:31:30. > :31:37.Scotland's first penalty. It's over and that will make Finn Russell feel

:31:38. > :31:44.very good. Good pressure from Scotland earlier on.

:31:45. > :31:51.Did well to keep composure. You have been out there in that horribly

:31:52. > :31:57.exposed position of being the kicker. That is why you practise.

:31:58. > :32:06.One who missed one right in front of the post, I know his pain!

:32:07. > :32:19.Here is Russell. And here is his opposite number, Dan Biggar.

:32:20. > :32:30.Jake Ball, did a lot of the heavy work against England. Alun Wyn Jones

:32:31. > :32:34.in midfield. Tackling is ferocious. Scott Williams.

:32:35. > :33:12.Ken Owens. Ross Moriarty. First glimpse of the Gloucester back row

:33:13. > :33:18.forward. Rob Evans took it well. Scott Williams again. Leigh

:33:19. > :33:25.Halfpenny. The ball comes out to Liam Williams.

:33:26. > :33:39.The turnover is good says the referee. Scotland steal the ball.

:33:40. > :33:54.Jake Ball slow to get back into position.

:33:55. > :34:04.Heavy duty carrying. Zander Fagerson. Ali Price takes

:34:05. > :34:14.responsibility for the clearance. Leigh Halfpenny makes sure it goes

:34:15. > :34:20.out. Try good clearance work by Scotland. Not a lot of forgot work

:34:21. > :34:26.at the moment from the attacker. Alun Wyn Jones off the ball, from

:34:27. > :34:34.there Scotland found the touch. Good work by Gordon Reid. Penalty to

:34:35. > :34:54.Wales. Tipuric there came to the ground.

:34:55. > :35:01.Biggar looking to get as far into the 22 as he can. Why would Wales do

:35:02. > :35:07.that, Martyn? Just done a lot over the last two games, it's been a

:35:08. > :35:11.success, very good line out players. That's the reason why you could be

:35:12. > :35:16.exposed in wide areas, but so far in the Six Nations, the backs have done

:35:17. > :35:20.their job. Tipuric is the dummy jumper that time. Wyn Jones in the

:35:21. > :35:27.middle. Wales try to set up the drive. Tipuric sets it up.

:35:28. > :35:31.Warburton. Continues the move. Penalty advantage to Wales.

:35:32. > :35:46.Knock on advantage. Rhys Webb. Ten metres short of the line.

:35:47. > :35:52.There is the prize. Jake Ball. Sam Warburton over the ball protects it.

:35:53. > :35:59.It's gone loose. Williams has to go back. No advantage. Penalty to

:36:00. > :36:06.Wales. Two penalties in the build-up there. The second one close to the

:36:07. > :36:12.line. Rhys Webb was looking to keep the Scottish defender off. Rhys Webb

:36:13. > :36:16.took a half gap and burst through. He's so dangerous Rhys Webb, this is

:36:17. > :36:20.trademark, you know it's coming as a forward, but he's so difficult to

:36:21. > :36:26.defend, powerful and explosive off the mark. He gives a little look and

:36:27. > :36:30.he's off. That's your man, Rhys Webb, you have to stick to him until

:36:31. > :36:43.the ball's gone. Slightly longer but that's only the

:36:44. > :37:29.22. We are all square at Murrayfield.

:37:30. > :37:41.The penalty by Leigh Halfpenny of Toulon. Three apiece.

:37:42. > :37:46.Rob Howley in the suit, Sean Edwards in front of him. High kick. Liam

:37:47. > :38:03.Williams waits. Stuart Hogg. Scotland will take their time. Good

:38:04. > :38:06.kick by Williams. There is a swirling wind up this west side of

:38:07. > :38:11.the stand. Good length and it was cleared almost up to the Scotland

:38:12. > :38:13.ten metre line. It's exactly what you are looking for after you have

:38:14. > :38:31.scored points. Fraser Brown again. John Barclay. This time Wales take

:38:32. > :38:38.the jumper out in the air. You can't help yourself sometimes. Jake Ball

:38:39. > :38:43.that time's gone for the ball. Sometimes as well, it's the guys

:38:44. > :38:48.lifting the man that perhaps don't support the man as well as they

:38:49. > :38:54.should. It's an easy point. A scruffy one.

:38:55. > :38:58.Penalty advantage not taken by Scotland. It's a 22 drop out for

:38:59. > :39:11.Wales. A lot of penalties in the first 12

:39:12. > :39:15.minutes, six penalties in the first 13 minutes. Hasn't really got any

:39:16. > :39:22.momentum in the game yet, it's very stop-start. Finn Russell. This time

:39:23. > :39:29.it's Wales taking their time. Dan Biggar goes back. He's going to belt

:39:30. > :39:45.this down field, down wind. Russell. Ryan Wilson. Good charge by

:39:46. > :39:55.Wilson. Scotland on the move. Jonny Gray. In the Welsh half now.

:39:56. > :40:04.Fraser Brown. Russell. Barclay out in the three quarters. Wales trying

:40:05. > :40:15.to hold him up. Richie Gray. Just scrambles an extra

:40:16. > :40:42.yard. Ali Price. Tim Visser gives away the penalty

:40:43. > :40:48.and you can hear what the crowd thinks of that. I'll ask Martyn what

:40:49. > :40:51.he thinks but I think it's a mistiming. The ball's caught in that

:40:52. > :40:56.swirling wind and I think it's a fair competition for the ball, gets

:40:57. > :41:00.his timing wrong. I agree, in real time it looked like a fake contest

:41:01. > :41:10.from Visser. Yes, he's gone up early. The fact that Ali Price has

:41:11. > :41:14.the kick, as you say, does that. It's a harsh penalty. That's not a

:41:15. > :41:17.penalty in my book. He's gone up before him, gone up early. Biggar's

:41:18. > :41:33.thrown his arms. Wyn Jones well picked up. Tipuric

:41:34. > :41:44.tries to tidy up. It's still there for Wales but they have to fight

:41:45. > :41:49.hard for possession. Slow possession so up towards Stuart Hogg. Jon than

:41:50. > :41:57.Davies. -- Jonathan Davies. Scrum-half Price. To Leigh

:41:58. > :42:24.Halfpenny. Taken by Halfpenny. Under pressure. Distribution from

:42:25. > :42:30.the second row. Ross Moriarty gets up, has a second drive. Biggar.

:42:31. > :42:56.Scott Williams. George North. Wales trying the passing game out of

:42:57. > :43:01.contact. Surrendered possession. Finn Russell spots Brown behind

:43:02. > :43:09.Halfpenny. Halfpenny goes back and watches it go over for a 22 drop

:43:10. > :43:13.out. Leigh Halfpenny... Oh, this is a little bit of action off the ball.

:43:14. > :43:24.Russell getting himself involved with Halfpenny. What is it with you

:43:25. > :43:29.Scottish half-backs? Born angry. John Lacey is going to calm them

:43:30. > :43:35.down. Never short of a word or two Dan Biggar. Some of the hits in

:43:36. > :43:42.midfield, John haardy put one on Scott Williams,. .

:43:43. > :44:17.Wales claim the turnover and they earn the

:44:18. > :44:24.Textbook Sam Warburton, he's sniffed that, he's just run behind the

:44:25. > :44:32.tackle area and he's seen a little glimpse of light and gone in. What

:44:33. > :44:39.is incredible, Sam Warburton's speed, he identifies it and

:44:40. > :44:41.accelerates it. It's the body height as well and once he's over the ball,

:44:42. > :44:58.you've got no chance. Break from Warburton. Forcing the

:44:59. > :45:04.pass from Dan Biggar trying to get that one extra pass. Good invention.

:45:05. > :45:12.Alun Wyn Jones wins the lineout. Away comes Moriarty. Rhys Webb. Liam

:45:13. > :45:16.Williams. Well read by Finn Russell. Webb. Support from Tipuric. Webb

:45:17. > :45:53.doesn't need him for the moment. Good writingen by Halfpenny out of

:45:54. > :46:01.the tackle. Scotland work themselves into a turnover situation. There is

:46:02. > :46:06.so much competition. Kicks are being put under pressure. This is a

:46:07. > :46:11.wonderful take by Leigh Halfpenny. Fights to stay in the field. He

:46:12. > :46:17.knows he's isolated. He buys a bit of time and space for himself. Class

:46:18. > :46:22.play by Leigh Halfpenny. The one thing that will frustrate the

:46:23. > :46:27.Scottish defence, the number of time the line's been broken. Rhys Webb's

:46:28. > :46:32.already had two breaks in there. Rob Evans has been in there as well. The

:46:33. > :46:37.first place you want to shore up... Is it not the case that John haardy

:46:38. > :46:43.was brought in to shore up that area of play, but if he's injured now, it

:46:44. > :46:47.will compromise them there? After the big hit on Scott Williams, he's

:46:48. > :46:55.struggling. His leg or knee is struggling. At this level, you

:46:56. > :47:00.can't, if you are carrying an injury, you just find out so easily.

:47:01. > :47:05.Hamish Watson, they have one of the players ready to come off the bench.

:47:06. > :47:11.Very similar player to John haardy. John haardy is tough as they come

:47:12. > :47:18.but he's struggling. His right knee. Hamish Watson's already made the

:47:19. > :47:23.replacement, he's come on and make an impact. Gordon Reid also having

:47:24. > :47:33.treatment. He looks all right. Up from Price again. This time it comes

:47:34. > :47:39.back but into touch. You can see the kicking ploys. Everything is

:47:40. > :47:43.contestable. They are looking to kick to win the position. Wales

:47:44. > :47:45.reduce the numbers in the lineout. Sam Warburton twos out into the

:47:46. > :48:06.three quarters. Alun Wyn Jones wins. New variation from Wales to try and

:48:07. > :48:10.push Scotland back a little bit. Webb's kick.

:48:11. > :48:20.Tim Visser waits and catches. Under pressure from George North who holds

:48:21. > :48:27.him up. Two pretty big wingers against each other there, Chris.

:48:28. > :48:37.Safer hitting here I think. Good work by George North because Wales

:48:38. > :48:47.get it. Tim Visser is a big, strong man. The kick was a little too long

:48:48. > :48:53.to give Tim Visser time to catch. Held up with the help of Biggar.

:48:54. > :49:02.Moriarty is in there. Wins a turnover.

:49:03. > :49:09.Rob Evans in there helping out. The players want to work together. Just

:49:10. > :49:18.looking at John haardy arriving there. He could hardly add any

:49:19. > :49:22.weight -- haardy. He's down again. Like Chris said, they have a

:49:23. > :49:29.ready-made replacement. John haardy was only probably going to play for

:49:30. > :49:34.part of the game anyway, they'll strap him up, a few pain-killers and

:49:35. > :49:43.keep him on as long as he can carry on. He's been absolutely superb in

:49:44. > :49:47.the opening two rounds. John haardy is destructive, so tough and so

:49:48. > :49:53.hard. This is where haardy picks up the knock. It was this one, a big

:49:54. > :49:57.tackle as well on Rob Evans. Looks like a contact injury which is

:49:58. > :50:02.better than a strain or a twist. Could be a dead leg. It was his

:50:03. > :50:08.right knee but he's certainly struggling. He's going to take his

:50:09. > :50:10.place in the back row. Hamish Watson is has already got his tracksuit

:50:11. > :50:27.off. Chance for Wales. Williams. First

:50:28. > :50:48.try of the game. Liam Williams is a man on fire. He's

:50:49. > :50:53.added another try. This was all about the question thinking of Rhys

:50:54. > :50:57.Webb and the excuse of passing. Every ball out in front. Liam

:50:58. > :51:03.Williams can finish it. Rhys Webb has already taken a quick tap. Pass

:51:04. > :51:07.from Biggar and Williams. The time and accuracy from Leigh Halfpenny,

:51:08. > :51:20.perfect for William's scores in the left hand corner. All about Rhys

:51:21. > :51:25.Webb. Narrow in defence Scotland. Haardy there on the replay. Taken

:51:26. > :51:34.out by Stuart Hogg. Liam Williams, the try scorer. Leigh Halfpenny from

:51:35. > :51:42.wide out and just behind him, here he is, John haardy will play no

:51:43. > :51:56.further part in the game. Hamish Watson is poised to come on. -- John

:51:57. > :52:08.haardy. Beautifully struck by Leigh Halfpenny. Five become seven.

:52:09. > :52:12.Scotland 3, Wales 10. Scotland's defence doesn't have time to get

:52:13. > :52:19.organised from the free kick at the scrum. Good start for Wales. Finn

:52:20. > :52:31.Russell towards the try scorer. Liam Williams is off again.

:52:32. > :52:45.Biggar takes up position behind Rhys Webb. Stuart Hogg catches. Inside to

:52:46. > :52:54.Russell who reaches well. And runs well. And passes well and the catch

:52:55. > :53:05.by Tommy Boyd is not made. Quickly taken. No, no, they'll come back.

:53:06. > :53:09.Tommy Seymour. This is a counterattack from Finn Russell as

:53:10. > :53:12.he looks for space on the right. Knocked on by Tommy Seymour. Down on

:53:13. > :53:17.the ground, Jason White. It's been fascinating to watch the

:53:18. > :53:25.Battle of The second rows today. Richie and Jonny Gray for Scotland,

:53:26. > :53:30.huge involvement. The summer tour to New Zealand, they'll all be vying

:53:31. > :53:37.for that. How today goes will have a key bearing. Rhys Webb. Liam

:53:38. > :53:43.Williams cuts back inside. Rob Evans in support. Held off the ball. Will

:53:44. > :53:46.it go to a review? I think it will. Rhys Webb, that man again but he's

:53:47. > :53:52.so cute here, I don't think the referee will pick up on this. As

:53:53. > :54:07.he's passed the ball, Seymour is back.

:54:08. > :54:27.Rhys Webb, the man who picked up the scintillating break. To the naked

:54:28. > :54:31.eye, it looked as though he reached out a hand on Tommy Seymour. We'll

:54:32. > :54:43.have a look here. The pass is good. Then we'll look at Rhys Webb. Webb

:54:44. > :55:11.is dictating. Very, very subtle. It's that area again. .

:55:12. > :55:20.Alun Wyn Jones has a counterargument but the penalty against Rhys Webb is

:55:21. > :55:24.given. A little shake of the head but he knows. In the good old days

:55:25. > :55:35.you would have gotten away with that one. Clever play by Rhys Webb.

:55:36. > :55:43.Banana kick from Finn Russell. Instead of facing a conversion, now

:55:44. > :55:49.just outside the Welsh 22. Great ball to the lineout for Ken Owens.

:55:50. > :55:53.Wyn Jones makes a space then he knows where he's going. Points to

:55:54. > :56:01.Liam Williams. I believe there is a reach with the left hand to Tommy

:56:02. > :56:10.Seymour. And the penalty was given. Fraser Brown.

:56:11. > :56:25.Ali Price. Rob Evans scrapping away for the ball.

:56:26. > :56:33.High tackle given against Sam Warburton. He wanted to get his arms

:56:34. > :56:39.around the ball carrier and hold him up. Good tackle by Dan Biggar but

:56:40. > :56:42.still advantage Scotland. Good pass to Stuart Hogg. Halfpenny goes back.

:56:43. > :57:02.Hogg in hot pursuit. Claimed the try. He has a smil about

:57:03. > :57:09.it all. Back to the penalty. Warburton and Price. He's gone high.

:57:10. > :57:23.Yes. If you are a bigger man around that

:57:24. > :57:27.area you are going to get penalised. How well has Leigh Halfpenny done

:57:28. > :57:30.there under a huge amount of pressure. Stuart Hogg, even to get

:57:31. > :57:37.himself on the end of that hip shows how quickly he is, but he knows

:57:38. > :57:38.exactly what he was doing. Two competitors playing really well

:57:39. > :58:21.there. Scotland celebrate. The gap is

:58:22. > :58:27.reduced to four points. Vern Cotter doesn't give much away, the big New

:58:28. > :58:40.Zealander, but his side are up to six, Wales on ten.

:58:41. > :58:56.Jonny Gray. This is the new player on the field, Hamish Watson. He's

:58:57. > :58:58.done ever so well to stay in field there because for a moment it looked

:58:59. > :59:17.as though... In fact he is in touch. There's a little bit of drama going

:59:18. > :59:20.on. The scrum-half starts it then walks away. Watch Rhys Webb, he

:59:21. > :59:24.started, he's out of shot now he's gone.

:59:25. > :59:36.Where is the little imp? He's nowhere there. Out of sight.

:59:37. > :59:42.Just seeing the physicality of the Welsh backs, with Scott Williams,

:59:43. > :00:05.that was a good carry, here we go. Karcher rucking by Scotland and they

:00:06. > :00:10.turned the ball over. Dan Biggar. Hamish Watson as well to turn out of

:00:11. > :00:33.that tackle. Russell. -- does well. Ali Price has to deal with the slow

:00:34. > :00:35.ball. Sam Warburton tried to buy the penalty. The referee having none of

:00:36. > :00:54.it. Slow for Price. Tim Visser finding Richie Gray in

:00:55. > :01:12.support. Still the Scottish advantage, Wales

:01:13. > :01:17.have slowed things down and themselves a penalty, just when

:01:18. > :01:23.Scotland were airing the overlap. In front of the posts, quite a way out.

:01:24. > :01:29.It seemed suspect, Sam Warburton and Justin Tipuric working well

:01:30. > :01:38.together, Scotland had the overlap. John Lacey having a word with the

:01:39. > :01:42.skipper. Warburton and Tipuric working well together, watch the

:01:43. > :01:46.speed of Justin Tipuric, from ground to feed. Winning that space. Gets

:01:47. > :01:54.his hands on the ball, excellent play. Brilliant late, great weapon

:01:55. > :02:11.Scott Williams, Scotland short of the line, it was Fraser Brown, he

:02:12. > :02:11.went into contact. One penalty, one conversion

:02:12. > :02:40.to his name, Leigh Halfpenny, this is the second penalty attempt.

:02:41. > :02:50.Turned immediately, Leigh Halfpenny. He likes what is on the scoreboard.

:02:51. > :03:08.Scotland six, Wales 13. Beautifully taken by Tommy Boyd.

:03:09. > :03:13.Wales were building the wall in front of him and he ignored all of

:03:14. > :03:24.them. Scotland are on the move. The Gray brothers waiting for the

:03:25. > :03:30.passes, Johnny, first. Russell. Dunbar. Driving up. Quicker ball for

:03:31. > :03:38.Scotland. John Barclay. He cannot get very far. Jonny Gray cannot get

:03:39. > :03:49.far. Brilliant tackle from Alun-Wyn and Sam Warburton. And the tackling

:03:50. > :03:56.is just spectacular. Incredible. So often Jonny May runs very hard, he

:03:57. > :04:01.has been hit by his opposite number. This is a massive collision

:04:02. > :04:05.midfield. Tipuric is there, as always, but look at that collision

:04:06. > :04:10.and the leg drive, driving Jonny Gray back. You don't often see that.

:04:11. > :04:17.The Wales defence has been outstanding, look at that. The only

:04:18. > :04:24.space Scotland have found is on the outside edge, through the middle it

:04:25. > :04:28.is formidable. The back five are so formidable, losing the kick-off from

:04:29. > :04:33.Seymour, still hurting from that and that is a great response. I think

:04:34. > :04:41.the physicality of the Welsh, they just have the edge. But try set up

:04:42. > :04:45.by the quick thinking of Rhys Webb. The long pass from Scott Williams,

:04:46. > :04:53.Leigh Halfpenny with the final delivery. To Williams. Every pass is

:04:54. > :04:59.perfect. The purists will be so proud of that, Alex King works in

:05:00. > :05:05.attack and will be supplied with that pass. It had to be because

:05:06. > :05:10.Stuart Hogg was coming across. In a simple game we often overlook

:05:11. > :05:17.obligate things, no dummy runners, just brilliant passing and execution

:05:18. > :05:36.from their Welsh backline. Apologies to Justin Tipuric, he was in the

:05:37. > :05:43.tackle with Alun Wyn Jones,. Rob Evans against Fagerson. Only the

:05:44. > :05:48.third scrum, they first two was the penalty to Scotland and the free

:05:49. > :05:50.kick to Wales, they have been messy. We have not had too many of those

:05:51. > :06:34.this afternoon. Feet to fire back? They lost their

:06:35. > :06:37.feet, Ferguson and Gordon Reid and subconsciously for John Lacey, he

:06:38. > :06:49.won in Scotland have been struggling in the opening games, with penalties

:06:50. > :06:58.on the opposition ball. -- he will know that Scotland. John Barclay.

:06:59. > :07:08.Ken Owens throwing, Justin Tipuric gets that to Rhys Webb. To Scott

:07:09. > :07:15.Williams. Webb again, this time orthodox. Biggar, Williams into

:07:16. > :07:24.midfield. The penalty to Wales, Scotland cannot work the turnover.

:07:25. > :07:27.Jones. Giving away the penalty. Bev Jones is penalised, it would be

:07:28. > :07:32.interesting to see this, never running away from a tackle. John

:07:33. > :07:43.Barclay was OK and Bev Jones, you have to get out of the way. -- and

:07:44. > :07:51.with Jones. Jones with the tackle. BBC just how quickly... That was a

:07:52. > :07:54.good call. And quite work from the Welsh number two, he cannot move,

:07:55. > :08:02.Barclay would have thought he was all over that to win the penalty.

:08:03. > :08:13.How annoying is it when the opposite scrum half gives you that pat on the

:08:14. > :08:17.head? Pleasant fellows, scrum half! The tackling in the first-half, that

:08:18. > :08:24.is ticking the box for Wales, it has caused France trouble. Wales at the

:08:25. > :08:30.tackle, Scotland at the breakdown. They have turned Wales over here on

:08:31. > :08:38.several occasions. For the moment, Leigh Halfpenny, shortly after

:08:39. > :08:56.putting Wales ahead. This, with half-time beckoning. That was a wild

:08:57. > :09:02.less by his standards. -- miss. Very unusual to see Leigh Halfpenny doing

:09:03. > :09:13.that. But was a big kick to put Wales in front. Towards Williams.

:09:14. > :09:22.Hogg coming forward. Chasing Liam Williams.

:09:23. > :09:31.Fraser Brown led that. And Finn Russell, going aerial again, Dan

:09:32. > :09:41.Biggar had time to catch. George North. But was put out of touch. And

:09:42. > :09:52.that was not the plan. Scotland take this quickly, in the hands of Stuart

:09:53. > :10:01.Hogg. Huw Jones! George North could not break the tackle. Scotland is

:10:02. > :10:09.flooding the breakdown. It has been slow and turned over by Wales. Add

:10:10. > :10:15.Rhys Webb will take the kick. You have Jonathan Davies behind him.

:10:16. > :10:23.Like the last minute against England, Jonathan Davies again. And

:10:24. > :10:28.he finds touch this week. I thought they would have two phases but that

:10:29. > :10:33.time the coaches will be delighted. What about this counterattack?

:10:34. > :10:36.Stuart Hogg so dangerous, the Welsh defenders know that, just dropping

:10:37. > :10:42.that, beautiful kick for Tommy Seymour to get there. I thought Huw

:10:43. > :10:47.Jones would have made that, Tipuric again with the tackle. Not many

:10:48. > :10:56.Welshmen can get there, sensational play from Stuart Hogg. Stuart Hogg,

:10:57. > :11:04.his kick made the chance possible. All they have for the moment is the

:11:05. > :11:10.line-up. Driving hard into midfield. Justin Tipuric involved again,

:11:11. > :11:21.trying to keep this as the maul but this is a ruck, Scotland on the

:11:22. > :11:29.move. Penalty advantage, Ali Price. Russell. Jones, Dunbar. Crunching

:11:30. > :11:32.tackle from Liam Williams. Still penalty advantage to Scotland. Jonny

:11:33. > :11:42.Gray. Sam Warburton with the tackle. No

:11:43. > :11:58.advantage. Sam Warburton penalised. Well,

:11:59. > :12:06.another cracking 40 minutes of rugby. Sam Warburton, he made the

:12:07. > :12:08.final tackle, Moriarty was penalised. Scotland coming alive

:12:09. > :12:15.towards the end of the first-half, applying pressure and an important

:12:16. > :12:20.time to score points. Superb last 20 minutes, the game has come to life,

:12:21. > :12:24.as a Welsh player or supporter you do not mind giving away three points

:12:25. > :12:30.here rather than the try. You are under pressure. You can go into the

:12:31. > :12:35.shed four points in front. The fortunes swaying in the opening

:12:36. > :12:40.half, Scotland facing the Leigh Halfpenny penalty, it could have

:12:41. > :12:47.been 16. At half-time, it could be 9-13.

:12:48. > :12:55.It is exactly that, Finn Russell with the penalty, and the whistle

:12:56. > :13:07.blows. Murrayfield at half-time, 13-9.

:13:08. > :13:14.This is a dish that is still simmering but it is about to boil,

:13:15. > :13:18.the solitary try of the first-half Rhun Williams but as Eddie was

:13:19. > :13:23.saying, Wales could have been ten points to the good is that Halfpenny

:13:24. > :13:28.penalty had gone over but the margin is just four points. This great

:13:29. > :13:32.aerial view of Murrayfield and these are the facts and figures, Wales

:13:33. > :13:37.with more tackles and the Welsh defence has been immense. The number

:13:38. > :13:42.of genuine try scoring opportunities Scotland have had has been very few.

:13:43. > :13:46.Turnovers is the big issue, we will talk about that in a positive sense

:13:47. > :13:50.from the perspective of Scotland. What do

:13:51. > :13:56.Scotland only played in the last five minutes, they were dominated

:13:57. > :14:02.physically, not like France, it was with tackle and contact, Warburton,

:14:03. > :14:06.Biggar, very powerful, with that last play, when they almost got that

:14:07. > :14:11.try, that is what Scotland need to do, break the game down, it came

:14:12. > :14:16.from the quick line-out and that is what they need to do. And from the

:14:17. > :14:23.Welsh perspective? Good defence, they had one opportunity, if they

:14:24. > :14:26.had taken it. Sam Warburton was great. Scotland have dominated

:14:27. > :14:32.possession and territory but the Welsh defence at the moment is

:14:33. > :14:36.dictating the game. It seems strangely conservative from both

:14:37. > :14:40.sides for the first 30 minutes, apart from Rhys Webb, and in the

:14:41. > :14:43.last ten minutes it started to spark, more attack. Worried about

:14:44. > :14:48.the weather and the wind, they have made -- they have not been tried.

:14:49. > :14:55.Rhys Webb has been irritating, driving everything. The first break.

:14:56. > :14:59.He spots the prop forward. He has to stay there.

:15:00. > :15:07.As we picked up before the game, the speed of the ruck, he goes in. They

:15:08. > :15:12.do not clear, the prop forward goes to get the ball and it is so slow,

:15:13. > :15:16.look at the Scottish defensive line, that is the Welsh Achilles heel.

:15:17. > :15:23.That was just a glimpse of what Rhys Webb can do. Again, the Scottish

:15:24. > :15:28.scrum, quick tap to the right, the Scottish defence, six and seven,

:15:29. > :15:33.this is a good finish. Hogg had a chance, and from a different angle,

:15:34. > :15:40.Rhys Webb takes it. They are short, they have to drift. Unfortunately

:15:41. > :15:44.for Tommy Seymour, there are two runners behind Webb. On the

:15:45. > :15:52.shoulder? He held his run. Very good finish. Quick thinking from Rhys

:15:53. > :15:56.Webb. In fact, Rhys Webb was the instigator of what might have been

:15:57. > :16:00.the second Welsh try, we will see that. He was pulled back for a

:16:01. > :16:07.little bit of foul play? That was a great try, everyone having to go

:16:08. > :16:14.back in and the final pass to Leigh Halfpenny Quartet. We were referring

:16:15. > :16:19.to this, from the line-out. Alun-Wyn Jones, he has been everywhere,

:16:20. > :16:24.priced taken out by Tipuric, then it is all Rhys Webb. Pulling back Tommy

:16:25. > :16:33.the right call, just enough to pull things back. Almost the try. I'm

:16:34. > :16:37.sure during the course of half-time and the next weekend, we will be

:16:38. > :16:42.talking about the players who will or will not be on the plane to New

:16:43. > :16:46.Zealand. They... We can see the closing elements of that passage.

:16:47. > :16:52.When Stuart Hogg gets the ball, he is one of the key players to be on

:16:53. > :16:56.the plane if not in the starting position? When you look at some of

:16:57. > :17:01.the kicking at the start, he was not getting into the game and then the

:17:02. > :17:08.quick line-out, he has running back, going back there to make certain of

:17:09. > :17:13.the good dummy line. Gorgeous little chink along the ground, just does

:17:14. > :17:20.not have the gas. There is no subject for pace, watching here.

:17:21. > :17:28.They stand for. There he is. He has watched Tipuric, two on two, great

:17:29. > :17:32.decision. Great cover by George North but brilliant play from

:17:33. > :17:38.Scotland, that is what they have to do. That skill from Stuart Hogg at

:17:39. > :17:44.full pace to drop onto his right foot and have the pace and for that

:17:45. > :17:49.to bounce perfectly, beautiful. We will talk about the turnovers, for

:17:50. > :17:52.the uninitiated, when the ball is turned over, how much of that is

:17:53. > :17:58.good play by the person doing the turning over and how much is bad

:17:59. > :18:04.play by the person turned over? By the standards, it is about good

:18:05. > :18:08.play. Good body position, Biggar going to the ground, sloppy tidy up

:18:09. > :18:16.afterwards, that was messy, the list turnover not forced by any player.

:18:17. > :18:21.Ball going in too high, that is messy, Gordon Reid, straight over

:18:22. > :18:27.the top. Great technique. The key man for a lot of these, from the

:18:28. > :18:34.Scottish perspective. Popping this over the top, that is just sloppy

:18:35. > :18:41.play. Scotland are winning that part of the game. Wales have physicality,

:18:42. > :18:45.you can see what Rhys Webb is trying to do, they want to get the ball

:18:46. > :18:50.going forward, the fine line you have to tread but Wales have one

:18:51. > :18:53.contact in many ways because of silly penalties given away. If you

:18:54. > :18:58.look at Scott Williams and Jonathan Davies, wedding collisions, that

:18:59. > :19:07.extra yard, the momentum on the front foot. There is nothing in

:19:08. > :19:12.this. For me, we did mention the Welsh back row could be significant

:19:13. > :19:16.and so far they have been. Sam Warburton, almost not being talked

:19:17. > :19:22.about in potential terms of the Lions captain. He has been giving

:19:23. > :19:26.the captain performance today, this is what we were talking about

:19:27. > :19:30.earlier, this tactical efficiency to go in without resting your arms on

:19:31. > :19:36.the ground, great cover tackle from Tipuric, Warburton beside him and

:19:37. > :19:41.mariachi piling in afterwards. Immediately in there, over the ball,

:19:42. > :19:44.technical ability to do the right thing at the right time,

:19:45. > :19:48.unbelievably hard on the upper body and you cannot rest your hands on

:19:49. > :19:53.the ground. That is why it Warburton is one of the best in the game at

:19:54. > :19:58.that. His pace and decision making, he picks and chooses. His

:19:59. > :20:05.decision-making is brilliant and when he has a chance or not. The

:20:06. > :20:09.Gray brothers on one side against Alun Wyn Jones on the other for a

:20:10. > :20:13.place on the Lions tour. Alun Wyn Jones being talked about as the

:20:14. > :20:23.potential captain. Who is running? Alun Wyn Jones is there. He is on

:20:24. > :20:28.the plane at the moment. He is just an all-round player, always leading

:20:29. > :20:34.from the front, always having a great performance, technically

:20:35. > :20:39.gifted. For me, in the second row, that choice is so difficult. The

:20:40. > :20:44.Gray brothers do a huge amount of work. Alun Wyn Jones does a lot of

:20:45. > :20:50.tracks -- lot of work leading to turnovers. We saw Jonny Gray

:20:51. > :20:57.carrying that and Alun Wyn Jones knocked him back and Richie Gray was

:20:58. > :21:03.one yard short. Wales have been more together, knocking them back.

:21:04. > :21:06.Talking about the second row, England and Ireland, England have

:21:07. > :21:14.got four world-class second rows, what a fight. Fascinating here, the

:21:15. > :21:19.second half coming up, last night the Scottish women beat the Wales

:21:20. > :21:34.women by the narrowest of margins. You can see that tomorrow night.

:21:35. > :21:47.What a steel! -- steal. Here comes France again. Highlights tomorrow

:21:48. > :21:52.night at 11:25pm. Repeated on Monday, the weekly podcast on Five

:21:53. > :21:57.Live is available on Monday and we have Six Nations highlights in the

:21:58. > :22:02.Rugby special tomorrow night at six o'clock on BBC Two. And the Red

:22:03. > :22:08.Button Forum following this at around 4:30pm. The one person you

:22:09. > :22:15.don't want to be this weekend is the Italy coach. Conor O'Shea, you would

:22:16. > :22:22.much rather be Eddie Jones. Looking for a row. He is overflowing with

:22:23. > :22:26.options, whenever you look, but as one of his predecessors repeatedly

:22:27. > :22:34.said, coaching is Eddie 5% selection. You have made some

:22:35. > :22:39.changes, what has prompted you to mix things up? Every week we are

:22:40. > :22:45.looking to improve the team and this game is an opportunity to look at

:22:46. > :22:53.different ways we can improve the team so number 13, he can be the

:22:54. > :22:58.realistic third option, John Josef, playing at the higher level. This is

:22:59. > :23:06.a great opportunity for us. People that you would make more changes,

:23:07. > :23:12.while only four? I don't think for the plenty. We go through a process,

:23:13. > :23:17.we look at the available players and the opposition and how fit the

:23:18. > :23:21.players are. How emotionally right, then we work out the best 23 for

:23:22. > :23:26.that weekend. And we made those changes. Keeping faith with Dylan

:23:27. > :23:33.Hartley despite the early exit against Wales, white? There is no

:23:34. > :23:38.reason not to have him. Just because he left early does not mean he was

:23:39. > :23:43.not doing the job, it meant he wanted George on to play the

:23:44. > :23:48.appropriate amount of time. Between those players you want a great 80

:23:49. > :23:51.minutes. So far, Dylan Hartley is showing no signs of allowing the

:23:52. > :23:57.captaincy to impinge on his performance? Here still very much in

:23:58. > :24:03.his apprenticeship as a captain, there will be more tests for him and

:24:04. > :24:07.he will get better. How much is Owen Farrell rapidly turning into the

:24:08. > :24:11.first name on the team sheet? Winning his 50th cap... Is always

:24:12. > :24:15.one of the guys we look to pick first because he is the goalkicker,

:24:16. > :24:21.the defence leader, one of the heartbeats of the team. And one

:24:22. > :24:27.thing I guarantee is his next 50 tests will be better. We are not

:24:28. > :24:34.tempted by Taylor and daily? That would be an option. Great option!

:24:35. > :24:41.You could pick that! The next time you either coach, I will write in

:24:42. > :24:48.the paper, take that combination. Tomorrow is about the margin, do you

:24:49. > :24:54.fear for Italy? Yes. The way they started against Wales, so powerful,

:24:55. > :25:01.clinical with passing of a high standard. It could be a record score

:25:02. > :25:09.tomorrow. Conceding 96 points so far, at least, and Twickenham on the

:25:10. > :25:15.Sunday, it is owing -- only going to get stronger with more scores like

:25:16. > :25:18.that. A quick word about Dublin this afternoon, very physical match? And

:25:19. > :25:23.all about Jonny Sexton and the attention he gets that the hands of

:25:24. > :25:27.the French back row and midfield. Very tough and hoping for a narrow

:25:28. > :25:37.Irish victory. More Scottish views on today. Jason White, what has

:25:38. > :25:41.stood out so far? Justin Tipuric at the breakdown has been all over the

:25:42. > :25:46.ball, he is like a bad rash we cannot get rid of. The breakdown

:25:47. > :25:51.work, Rhys Webb around the breakdown, we need to make sure for

:25:52. > :25:54.Scotland that the guards get in place quickly. Things getting

:25:55. > :25:59.fractures towards the end, this continued as the players went down

:26:00. > :26:04.the tunnel, Richie Gray getting involved and some sparks flying

:26:05. > :26:08.between himself and the Welsh players, not something you mind? As

:26:09. > :26:14.long as it is controlled and does not overstep the mark, it shows the

:26:15. > :26:18.Scottish team up for this. We just need to play on that line of playing

:26:19. > :26:22.up to the edge and not going over. You are keen to see the Scottish

:26:23. > :26:29.backs with ball in hand, we saw what Wales could do. Without break

:26:30. > :26:35.towards the end, very much so? We need to see Stuart Hogg with the

:26:36. > :26:38.ball, we need to get others into the game, on the front foot. The mixture

:26:39. > :26:43.of the forwards doing well and the backroom and in the ball and Stuart

:26:44. > :26:53.Hogg is on fire. He gets a crowd involved. We need to see more of

:26:54. > :26:58.him. Scotland at home against Wales. Finn Russell starts. The first

:26:59. > :27:05.penalty for Scotland and it is over. All square at Murrayfield. Free

:27:06. > :27:11.kick, quickly taken. Williams. The first try of the game. John Hardie

:27:12. > :27:22.will play no further part. Scotland celebrate. Leigh Halfpenny like

:27:23. > :27:29.that. Fantastic first half. Poised on a knife edge and, as ever, we

:27:30. > :27:33.will talk about the benches, the men who might make the difference.

:27:34. > :27:45.Surely the power is with Wales? It is. Against England, that would have

:27:46. > :27:53.made a Biggar impact. Hopefully they can bring Sam Davies on, obviously

:27:54. > :28:01.Faletau. It is timing, Webb is controlling and if he stays on, let

:28:02. > :28:05.us see what happens. Wales have been out for quite a while, Scotland

:28:06. > :28:11.keeping them waiting. Perhaps some things said by Vern in the dressing

:28:12. > :28:16.room. Built from those last five minutes. If Scotland Bill that fast

:28:17. > :28:19.game, get Seymour running into space, they have a chance but if

:28:20. > :28:24.they allow Wales to continue to dominate the tackle, Wales will win

:28:25. > :28:29.this. We have had some formidable jewels so far, you expect this match

:28:30. > :28:36.to go the same way. Back to the commentary team, led by Eddie

:28:37. > :28:41.Butler. No changes apart for Watson for Hardie made early in the first

:28:42. > :28:53.half. Barclay, Tommy Seymour on the wing.

:28:54. > :29:01.Well taken by Stuart Hogg, Wales tried to hold them up. Zander

:29:02. > :29:10.Fagerson, the prop. Ali Price, the scrum-half. Jonny Gray. Price

:29:11. > :29:18.waiting again, Evans, trying to make a nuisance of himself. Halfpenny

:29:19. > :29:26.waiting. And he drops. Backwards. Did not go backwards. So...

:29:27. > :29:33.Halfpenny. We don't see that often. That is the channel on this pitch. I

:29:34. > :29:37.think he dropped it at the almost got it back. That will not bother

:29:38. > :29:44.Leigh Halfpenny. He will get on with the job in hand. Every kick today

:29:45. > :29:52.has been contestable. That was probably too long.

:29:53. > :29:58.The big question is, will we eventually see any scrum computer?

:29:59. > :30:07.They have been a total mess in the first half. -- computed. Sam

:30:08. > :30:10.Warburton, having a look at what the Scottish three quarters are about.

:30:11. > :30:12.Ross Moriarty at number eight. Rob Evans, number one, expressing his

:30:13. > :30:32.frustration. The two of you sort those problems

:30:33. > :30:38.out or the two of you leave. Just do as I say, please.

:30:39. > :30:42.Very clear isn't it. This is where John Lacey needs his assistant

:30:43. > :30:48.referee to help him, he can't see both sides. They should be

:30:49. > :31:00.communicating and find out what is happening on that far side.

:31:01. > :31:16.Scotland's scuem holds well. Out it comes. A scrum is completed. Seymour

:31:17. > :31:26.off his wing. Slowed up. Ali Price has to wait again. Stuart Hogg.

:31:27. > :31:29.Justin Tipuric. Hogg gets the ground. Richie Gray. Warburton over

:31:30. > :31:49.the ball. Can't win it this time. Finn Russell. No way through there.

:31:50. > :32:01.But he does well, the fly half, to twist and turn. Price. Jonathan

:32:02. > :32:06.Davies ordered back. Alex Dunbar plays scrum-half. And again. Hamish

:32:07. > :32:24.Watson. John Barclay. No way through.

:32:25. > :32:35.Russell to Hogg. It's going to be Tommy Seymour. Or is it...

:32:36. > :32:47.Scott Williams made that unbelievable tackle.

:32:48. > :33:08.Scott Williams comes across. Looks like a try for Tommy Seymour. An

:33:09. > :33:13.incredible effort by Scott Williams. Looks like Tommy Seymour is under

:33:14. > :33:20.the ball. Yes. Try awarded by John Lacey. Tommy Seymour the scorer, a

:33:21. > :33:27.flying start by Scotland! There is a price to pay, Tommy Seymour still

:33:28. > :33:32.receiving attention. Looks like he's winded. Finn Russell carries the

:33:33. > :33:39.ball to the line and Stuart Hogg again delays the pass. Tim Visser

:33:40. > :33:46.does well. Seymour just gets the ball down. Despite tefrts of Scott

:33:47. > :33:52.Williams. Great finish by Williams. Just bitten on the decoy runner. --

:33:53. > :34:00.despite the efforts. Russell from wide out. Off the post and over.

:34:01. > :34:09.Seven points for Scotland. They take the lead at Murrayfield. Scotland

:34:10. > :34:12.16-13 Wales. Williams allows Visser to come on the outside. Wonderful

:34:13. > :34:25.finish from Seymour. Hamish Watson underneath it. Under

:34:26. > :34:30.pressure from George North. Russell comes away with it. And that's a

:34:31. > :34:41.fine clearance under pressure by Finn Russell.

:34:42. > :34:47.Fin Russell managed to get his boot to ball -- Finn Russell. An

:34:48. > :35:01.opportunity for Wales. Wales take their time at the

:35:02. > :35:14.lineout. Alun Wyn Jones, an overthrow and John Barclay comes

:35:15. > :35:17.away with it. Alex Dunbar. Couldn't pass it Jonathan Davies had cut out

:35:18. > :35:34.his option. Price. To Fagerson. The crowd are in full voice.

:35:35. > :35:36.Scotland are in the lead, Wales still making thunderous tackles,

:35:37. > :35:47.pushing Scotland back into their half. Jonny Gray.

:35:48. > :36:06.Jonny Gray to Fagerson again. Fagerson involved again.

:36:07. > :36:39.Russell high again. Superb catch by Tommy Seymour. Russell. All Scotland

:36:40. > :36:52.at the moment. Makes yards. Doesn't make yards.

:36:53. > :36:57.Suddenly the Scottish attacks stop. It stops and is brought to an end by

:36:58. > :37:01.Alun Wyn Jones with a tackle, then he wins a turnover. Look at that for

:37:02. > :37:04.a second half possession. They've got the score to prove it early in

:37:05. > :37:08.the second half. A great piece of attack by Scotland. Making more

:37:09. > :37:12.ground than in the first half. The Welsh defence coming out on top in

:37:13. > :37:17.the end with Alun Wyn Jones. Scotland at the minute are winning

:37:18. > :37:21.all the 50/50s, making all the right decisions. Huge penalty to kill the

:37:22. > :37:23.momentum for Scotland. Totally swung their way in the second half. Here

:37:24. > :37:40.is Alun Wyn Jones. Scotland got two contestable kicks

:37:41. > :37:43.there. Skill of the day! Ross Moriarty charges into midfield.

:37:44. > :37:47.Wales on the move for the first time in this second half. They've earned

:37:48. > :37:54.themselves a penalty. Rhys Webb looks one way and goes the other.

:37:55. > :37:58.Jonathan Davies for the line! The pass. Can't find a hand. Leigh

:37:59. > :38:21.Halfpenny is up there. It's gone forward. Oh, Wales so close.

:38:22. > :38:28.The break by Jonathan Davies and it sets Wales off in this second half.

:38:29. > :38:33.Everybody's just calmed down having had a look at this. Rhys Webb goes

:38:34. > :38:38.to the left and Owens, delayed pass to a brilliant line. Full pace by

:38:39. > :38:42.Jonathan Davies, excellent tackle by Price. That off-load to Rhys Webb

:38:43. > :38:47.could have been a try. He's got to get this off-load. A bit more

:38:48. > :38:51.sympathy on that off the floor. Wales probably have forced one or

:38:52. > :38:56.two but I think that time Jonathan Davies was fully justified in trying

:38:57. > :38:59.to find rest-week. If he didn't, he would have been turned over, two

:39:00. > :39:03.defenders on top of him. So clean was the break that the advantage was

:39:04. > :39:06.over, so instead of having the penalty, Wales end up that close to

:39:07. > :39:11.the line, but with Scotland putting the ball into the scrum. The game

:39:12. > :39:19.just so finely balanced. Scotland in the start of the second

:39:20. > :39:24.half with some great possession. 99% possession, then a flash, a blink of

:39:25. > :39:32.an eye, Jonathan Davies cutting through the Scottish defence.

:39:33. > :39:43.What pressure can Wales exert? You can just see the strain there. I'd

:39:44. > :39:50.be surprised if this one goes full term. I agree. It's going to go one

:39:51. > :39:54.way or the other. Zander Fagerson's a huge prospect for Scotland. He's

:39:55. > :39:58.had his struggles. This is a step up from playing for Glasgow, but

:39:59. > :40:04.interesting to see John Lacey is watching Rob Evans and Zander

:40:05. > :40:10.Fagerson. Finn Russell you see is flat. You want to be clear, you want

:40:11. > :40:15.depth to get away. He's maybe looking to attack the right hand

:40:16. > :40:23.side. Ali Price feeds the scrum. Done well. Quick ball. Away comes

:40:24. > :40:27.Ali Price. Tommy Seymour. Gives' way the penalty crossing. Obstruction.

:40:28. > :40:36.It's a penalty for Wales. It's wide out. What is the option here? Alun

:40:37. > :40:43.Wyn Jones went for the corner every time Dan Biggar looks like he's

:40:44. > :40:53.shaping up for the corner as well. Dan Biggar asked the question.

:40:54. > :41:01.They can't change their mind. Oh, they can. Wales for the corner.

:41:02. > :41:11.I thought once he indicated that, that was that. He kicked it half way

:41:12. > :41:17.across. Yes. That is the obstruction. Ryan Wilson just

:41:18. > :41:26.blocking Warburton. Ken Owens. Warburton. Wales obstruct in front

:41:27. > :41:31.of the ball. Penalty to Scotland. Jonny Gray celebrates. The crowd are

:41:32. > :41:36.relieved. An old tactic Wales have used before. Nearly all the back

:41:37. > :41:40.line were there, Halfpenny, Davies. Got to be so careful when you lift

:41:41. > :41:53.the man, that you don't obstruct him. John Lacey's picked it up.

:41:54. > :42:12.Alan Dell prepares to come on to the field. Gordon Reid is coming off.

:42:13. > :42:20.Gordon Reid's done well this afternoon, put in so much energy. I

:42:21. > :42:26.think he's done well in the scrum as well. Allan Dell is on. He started

:42:27. > :42:32.the two opening games in the Championship. Lan

:42:33. > :42:36.Gordon Reid's done well this afternoon, put in so much energy. I

:42:37. > :42:39.think he's done well in the scrum as well. Allan Dell is on. He started

:42:40. > :42:41.the two opening games in the Championship. Fraser Brown takes his

:42:42. > :42:45.time. Ali Price pushes. Liam Williams. Leigh Halfpenny. Wales

:42:46. > :42:54.counter from deep. Biggar for himself. Barclay. Great pick-up by

:42:55. > :43:00.the captain. Price. Oaf Halfpenny's shoulders. Didn't get the bounce

:43:01. > :43:09.Price wanted. Halfpenny. Stuart Hogg. Gone backwards. Finn Russell.

:43:10. > :43:25.Russell. Chased by Sam Warburton. Warburton down. Straight back up.

:43:26. > :43:45.On the half way line. Price turns, goes the other way and he's clear!

:43:46. > :43:52.Ali Price tackled by Halfpenny. Support from doll. -- Dell.

:43:53. > :43:58.Fagerson. Williams came charging out the line and it worked. He throws

:43:59. > :44:07.Ryan Wilson to the ground. Wales looking for the turnover. Russell

:44:08. > :44:20.comes away with it. Penalty advantage to Scotland. Barclay.

:44:21. > :44:24.Whoops. Alex Dunbar with quite the strangest kick we may see this

:44:25. > :44:27.hundredship. He won't be too happy with that one. Penalty advantage on

:44:28. > :44:46.the wrong boot. Williams, who is as good in defence

:44:47. > :44:49.as he is in attack, managed to get back. There's Ali Price's breakdown

:44:50. > :45:26.again. Allan Dell in support. Finn Russell. This to extend

:45:27. > :45:36.Scotland's lead. Trailed at half time by four points. This is go six

:45:37. > :45:48.points into the lead and they do. A big swing. Went for the lineout, got

:45:49. > :45:58.penalised. A change ordered by Vern Cotter at scrum-half so Ali Price

:45:59. > :46:04.having made the break gives way. George North. Scott Williams.

:46:05. > :46:15.So, from the restart, Wales back in possession. Rob Evans.

:46:16. > :46:28.Rhys Webb with Leigh Halfpenny acting outside-half. Webb again.

:46:29. > :46:31.Jonathan Davies. Jones makes the tackle.

:46:32. > :46:48.Quickly delivered. Webb. Evans. A little side step. Makes ground.

:46:49. > :47:00.Halfpenny. Biggar. Just tin Tipuric. George North. Tipuric. Didn't risk

:47:01. > :47:03.the pass. Knock-on by Wales. Scotland with the minicelebration,

:47:04. > :47:16.not by Rob Howley, the Wales coach. Tipuric losing control. The first

:47:17. > :47:20.mistake he's made today, he's been outstanding. That guy in attack and

:47:21. > :47:26.defence, such a high worker. Top class. He could easily play in the

:47:27. > :47:31.backs as well. Covered defence early in the first half. Absolutely superb

:47:32. > :47:35.player, got the full package, defensively and offensively. Working

:47:36. > :47:48.class in my eyes. The tries, Wales in first half, Liam

:47:49. > :47:56.Williams, Scotland in the second Tim Visser two, Tommy Seymour.

:47:57. > :48:21.Jake Ball is going off. And on comes Luke Charteris. One of the highly

:48:22. > :48:28.experienced players coming off the bench for Wales, cap number 72 for

:48:29. > :48:42.Luke Charteris. He's carried well, Jake Ball.

:48:43. > :48:51.Change at scrum-half, Chris. Henry Pyrgos, an experienced campaigner,

:48:52. > :48:57.similar to Laidlaw and Price. Rhys Webb steals and Webb is away. Can he

:48:58. > :49:15.finish? Can he finish? ! It will go to review.

:49:16. > :49:22.Busy day for Rowan. This man Rhys Webb has been outstanding so far and

:49:23. > :49:27.look how sharp he is again. If he beats Tim Visser, it's an incredible

:49:28. > :49:32.finish. Reaching with the ball on his right hand. Look at his left.

:49:33. > :49:40.Looks like it touches the line just before. An incredible effort to even

:49:41. > :49:45.get as close as that. Yes, all came from the problems from the Scottish

:49:46. > :49:49.scrum. Very unstable and Rhys Webb was quick as a flash.

:49:50. > :50:01.Rhinout. Lineout. Scotland throw. Rest-week so close -- Rhys Webb so

:50:02. > :50:07.close. Worrying times for Scotland.

:50:08. > :50:22.Again, really unstable scrum. Fraser Brown to throw. Luke Charteris on

:50:23. > :50:28.his first. It's gone long. Oh, and it worked.line Wilson comes away

:50:29. > :50:33.with it. Wales read the move but it's still performed clinically by

:50:34. > :50:46.Scotland. And they clear. Clear well. You could see that. That was a

:50:47. > :50:54.50/50 real gamble. Great from Ryan Wilson. Tom Francis, the near try

:50:55. > :51:00.for Rhys Webb. Foot in touch. Tom Francis is off. There's the

:51:01. > :51:10.offending boot. Wales are under way again. Scott Williams in midfield.

:51:11. > :51:18.Sam Warburton won that. Forward and little things going wrong for Wales.

:51:19. > :51:29.Warren Gatland watching on. Alex Dunbar. Scott Williams.

:51:30. > :51:43.Disappointed to lose out. Scotland made a flying start to the second

:51:44. > :51:48.half. Scored their points and ever since then they've been on defensive

:51:49. > :52:14.duty but they have this scrum and a chance to go on the attack again.

:52:15. > :52:19.Best for Scotland to get this away as quickly as possible, if they can

:52:20. > :52:47.manage it. Coming up to 60 minutes on the verge

:52:48. > :52:51.of the last quarter. Plenty of daring, plenty of adventure, plenty

:52:52. > :53:01.of mishaps so far. It just seems one of those games where there'll be

:53:02. > :53:06.more to come. Henry Pyrgos. As seen by John Lacey, Wales manage to get a

:53:07. > :53:12.drive-on. They get a big drive-on. Ryan Wilson does well to come away

:53:13. > :53:18.with it. Scotland can't get out of their half because Stuart Hogg's

:53:19. > :53:24.kicked straight into touch. He says, sorry, lads. We saw Tipuric's first

:53:25. > :53:33.and probably only mistake of the day. That's Hogg's first mistake of

:53:34. > :53:44.the day, he holds his hand up. Wales continue to apply the pressure.

:53:45. > :53:55.Ken Owen came in with a perfect record throw-in. Worked well this

:53:56. > :54:02.time. Moriarty feeds Warburton. Liam Williams. Rhys Webb waits. Rhys

:54:03. > :54:12.Webb, alert. Finds Rob Evans. Pass by the prop to Luke Charteris. Webb

:54:13. > :54:15.again. Davies. Hamish Watson tries to strip. Watson does well to get

:54:16. > :54:23.out of the way. Not give away the penalty. Evans again.

:54:24. > :54:40.Scott Williams Webb has a little look. Feeds Luke Charteris who looks

:54:41. > :54:49.on. Another knock-on. A scrum advantage being played to Scotland.

:54:50. > :54:59.Russell with the clearing kick. Referee says not much of an

:55:00. > :55:04.advantage. I think the referee may be looking at something here,

:55:05. > :55:14.Martyn. Looking at the actions of red 7 lifting blue 10. Tipuric on a

:55:15. > :55:20.clean out. It is tin Tipuric, his action on the side of the rook. Yes,

:55:21. > :55:26.the crowd obviously jeered, as they would. But it's whether Tipuric in

:55:27. > :55:29.his action of cleaning out the Scottish players lifted the legs

:55:30. > :55:36.horizontally. You have to be so careful these days. The corner of

:55:37. > :55:50.John Lacey's eye. Certainly lifted him twice. Finn

:55:51. > :55:55.Russell is not driven at the ground, he's landed on his back. He's

:55:56. > :55:59.probably looking at a yellow. You have got to be so careful these

:56:00. > :56:04.days. I think players are starting to go with the momentum and buy into

:56:05. > :56:13.this now, but you are dicing with danger as soon as you give the leg.

:56:14. > :56:17.Just a penalty. Because Tipuric almost knows what he was doing, he

:56:18. > :56:22.tried to save the situation after he'd started. There was no malice,

:56:23. > :56:31.he never drove him into the field but it's a penalty only.

:56:32. > :56:37.Tipuric did try to save the situation. Scotland gain some

:56:38. > :56:41.relief. They had a knock-on advantage. Wales spinning the ball

:56:42. > :56:50.again. Plenty of pressure from Wales. It changes now as Jamie

:56:51. > :56:59.Roberts comes on into midfield. Faletau comes on. Moriarty goes off.

:57:00. > :57:04.Another big game for Moriarty, perhaps not as eye-catching as last

:57:05. > :57:07.week, but done a lot of grafting. Scott Williams had a good game as

:57:08. > :57:44.well. Richie Gray wins the lineout. Scotland edge forward. Like

:57:45. > :57:49.Charteris is sensational. He gets his big frame over and kills it

:57:50. > :57:54.straightaway. There he is, like Charteris, he's huge and he uses

:57:55. > :58:02.those arms to go where shorter arms can't!

:58:03. > :58:11.It's very tense. Is it for you, Jason? Just the way we are seeing

:58:12. > :58:14.the game being played, from where I'm sitting here, Wales are playing

:58:15. > :58:17.all of the game in the Scottish half and we need to find a way from the

:58:18. > :58:23.Scottish point of view to get back down that end and bring back into

:58:24. > :58:27.play the big strikes, Stuart Hogg getting the ball. The back end are

:58:28. > :58:35.working their Socks off. You saw the substitutes coming on for Wales,

:58:36. > :58:41.Jamie Roberts. A strong mix for the last 18 minutes. We had that amazing

:58:42. > :58:45.statistic at the start of the second half where Scotland had 99% of

:58:46. > :58:52.territory possession but that's turned now. Faletau came on against

:58:53. > :58:59.England. He's been struggling with a knee injury all season really. He is

:59:00. > :59:04.a magnificent player when he's fit and doing well. Scotland are awarded

:59:05. > :59:09.the penalty at the scrum. And given what happened at the last scrum,

:59:10. > :59:13.Wales will be very disappointed with that.

:59:14. > :59:19.Disappointed I think is putting it mildly, Eddie. They'll be really

:59:20. > :59:23.frustrated. Total dominance in the last scrum and John Lacey, you can't

:59:24. > :59:28.say at least he's made a decision, but it's a big decision from John

:59:29. > :59:32.Lacey when Wales seemed to be on top of the scrum. Ten penalties apiece,

:59:33. > :59:45.Scotland in the Welsh half at last. Fraser Brown. Not many front row

:59:46. > :59:53.forwards who start make it into the last quarter but here is Scotland's

:59:54. > :59:57.hooker. And finding John Barclay, his captain. Luke Charteris again.

:59:58. > :00:15.Busy at work. Scotland come through the midfield.

:00:16. > :00:18.Russell, that was long from Jones. Cannot go past Leigh Halfpenny and

:00:19. > :00:35.Scotland move into the Welsh 22. Richie Gray. Fagerson. Hamish

:00:36. > :00:38.Watson. Feeding Jonny Gray. Gray stops and take stock of the

:00:39. > :00:59.situation, tries to set it up. Russell is lining up for the drop

:01:00. > :01:03.goal. Behind Pyrgos. Through Hamish Watson, Scotland are happy to take

:01:04. > :01:13.it further into Welsh territory. Pyrgos. John Barclay, the captain,

:01:14. > :01:27.Tipuric. Sam Warburton over the ball. Scotland have it. It has been

:01:28. > :01:54.slowed up. Fraser Brown, the figure. -- looker. -- hooker. Pyrgos to John

:01:55. > :02:08.Barclay. Russell, Hogg! Scotland break out and the lead grows. As a

:02:09. > :02:13.crowd celebrate, this is a crucial time in the match to score, the

:02:14. > :02:18.first time Scotland had territory for a very long time in the second

:02:19. > :02:24.half and that was built through Fraser, then watch this pass from

:02:25. > :02:31.Stuart Hogg, quickly through the hands, and watch this from the past.

:02:32. > :02:39.Through the hands add that strike command, Visser, scoring again. The

:02:40. > :02:45.pace of that ball to Hogg, then the class of Hogg, this standing up. It

:02:46. > :02:51.did look like Finn Russell was standing in the pocket. That snipe

:02:52. > :03:02.from Pyrgos had him on the front foot. Fully deserved try. They

:03:03. > :03:08.started the second half with a bang and went into the long period of

:03:09. > :03:13.being stuck in their own 22 but they have broken out and scored again.

:03:14. > :03:27.Finn Russell with the conversion. It is good. Scotland 26, Wales 13.

:03:28. > :03:39.Another look, that pass from Russell to Stuart Hogg, Visser has had that

:03:40. > :03:43.left touchline all day, he got on the outside of George North and

:03:44. > :03:46.celebrates his comeback with a try. Changes in the Welsh team, Sam

:03:47. > :04:06.Davies is on for Dan Biggar. Rebound. Everything is going

:04:07. > :04:12.Scotland's way. Alex Dunbar. Under pressure, gets the ball away. Would

:04:13. > :04:18.not be more comfortable kicker. That was a better strike. Better than the

:04:19. > :04:25.last one. The right direction. Pressure from Rhys Webb. Stuart Hogg

:04:26. > :04:31.has a look, is that on? Dunbar manages to get away, he gets that of

:04:32. > :04:37.the field. Baldwin finds Alun Wyn Jones. George North coming off his

:04:38. > :04:55.wing. Sam Davies, inside the Scott Baldwin. Inside to Scott. Jonathan

:04:56. > :05:05.Davies. Nicky Smith is on in the Welsh front row.

:05:06. > :05:13.The turnover is good, says George Lacey. Once again, Wales have been

:05:14. > :05:20.turned over and Murrayfield erupts again. That was slow from Wales, it

:05:21. > :05:28.gives Davies no option, fantastic work from Watson, he wins that. So

:05:29. > :05:33.dangerous as a tackler and around the breakdown as well. Wilson

:05:34. > :05:46.patting his head. This Gaurav Bains Wales have to play, they have to

:05:47. > :05:50.take a risk. -- this score means. Here is the turnover, Barclay with

:05:51. > :06:00.the turnover. Tipuric and Warburton... He can do it as well.

:06:01. > :06:11.Hamish Watson with the turnover. Fraser Brown's work is done, Ross

:06:12. > :06:23.Ford comes on, cap number 105. And he finds Jonny Gray. Pyrgos. Liam

:06:24. > :06:29.Williams rises high and feeds Leigh Halfpenny. He comes away with it.

:06:30. > :06:51.Back to Rhys Webb. Wales have to play, they have to

:06:52. > :06:57.risk their passes. That one does not go to hand. Liam Williams comes away

:06:58. > :07:07.with it. Scotland with a penalty, another obstruction. That is a hard

:07:08. > :07:12.one to take for Williams, he has been outstanding. He has tried so

:07:13. > :07:17.hard to pick up the loose ball, taking on three Scotland's

:07:18. > :07:26.defenders. This is a big decision for Scotland, I think they are going

:07:27. > :07:30.for the corner. 13 points ahead. You can understand what Sam Davies is

:07:31. > :07:35.trying to do, trying to keep the ball in play. Williams has to pick

:07:36. > :07:40.up the loose ball but Tipuric is in the wrong place at the wrong time.

:07:41. > :07:44.The tackle comes in from Wilson. The option to go for the goal eats up

:07:45. > :07:52.the clock. When you go back to the Wales opportunity, 19-13, Alun Wyn

:07:53. > :07:56.Jones decides to go for the corner instead of points and you must

:07:57. > :08:10.question that, with somebody like Leigh Halfpenny in your ranks...

:08:11. > :08:29.Carling that end. Superb kick. Not only is the clock running down, the

:08:30. > :08:37.school board has gone up. 29-13. -- curling that in. Brilliant kick. And

:08:38. > :08:41.that was so hard. He has nailed that, right down the middle. Jonny

:08:42. > :08:53.Gray comes away with the ball. Finn Russell.

:08:54. > :08:58.Ross Ford, he loses out. Justin Tipuric, to the captain, Alun Wyn

:08:59. > :09:17.Jones. Nicky Smith in support. Alex Dunbar

:09:18. > :09:22.fighting for possession, died on the ground.

:09:23. > :09:32.-- down on the ground. Halfpenny. Intercepted! And, again, George

:09:33. > :09:41.right this time. Tim Visser with one of them, North with another. Nicky

:09:42. > :09:53.Smith, plays scrum half. Scott Baldwin, short to Faletau. Tipuric,

:09:54. > :09:54.long, dancing to Sam Davies. He thought he could see a little gap.

:09:55. > :10:05.It closed. In time honoured fashion, Roberts

:10:06. > :10:40.crashes it up. Scotland's defence is solid. Good

:10:41. > :10:52.enough to win the penalty. And that says it all. Hamish Watson again.

:10:53. > :10:56.There he is, he came on the field, he started the first two games in

:10:57. > :11:04.the championship that he has been outstanding again. 13 conceded from

:11:05. > :11:13.Wales, in the penalties. The coaches will not be happy with that. Batman,

:11:14. > :11:25.Hamish Watson, in the penalty area. -- Batman. -- that man. It has been

:11:26. > :11:32.one of those afternoons. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. If

:11:33. > :11:39.you are wearing blue. Scotland have been outstanding in the second half.

:11:40. > :11:46.Going in, Wales were dominating but Scotland have been clinical, one

:11:47. > :11:50.chance but Visser over and they have not looked back. Wales, on the flip

:11:51. > :11:54.side, have become very sloppy on the backend. Scotland have kept Wales

:11:55. > :12:09.pointless in the second half. Not much went. And Scotland in not

:12:10. > :12:11.much of a hurry to get to the line-out. Four and a half minutes

:12:12. > :12:32.left to go. John Barclay has been a real

:12:33. > :12:40.presence in the line-out. Pyrgos has to go digging for the ball.

:12:41. > :13:00.Scotland can think of winding the game down.

:13:01. > :13:11.Here is one of the star performers, Hamish Watson.

:13:12. > :13:14.Liam Williams went for the interception, that is just the

:13:15. > :13:30.knock-on. And the clock runs. Tommy Seymour, try scorer. The

:13:31. > :13:37.moment has come. Who is the Man of the Match? Well, there have been

:13:38. > :13:44.some candidates, Warburton, Tipuric, Rhys Webb has had a massive game and

:13:45. > :13:53.Hamish Watson has had a huge impact. The Gray brothers, Wilson as well.

:13:54. > :13:57.But the man in the picture, the RBS Man of the Match, Finn Russell,

:13:58. > :14:01.seven from seven. For all of the determination of the Scottish team,

:14:02. > :14:20.under pressure, Finn Russell has delivered an outstanding match.

:14:21. > :14:31.Murrayfield is buzzing. Murrayfield is about to celebrate Scotland's

:14:32. > :14:36.second victory of the Six Nations. They beat Ireland here. And very

:14:37. > :14:50.shortly they will have beaten Wales. John Barclay, outstanding as leader.

:14:51. > :15:12.Pyrgos will not be going far. Finn Russell, Man of the Match.

:15:13. > :15:23.Tackled by Sam Davies. Wales have a chance. They have one and a half

:15:24. > :15:27.minutes. Warren Gatland, the Lions coach, the Wales coach on

:15:28. > :15:32.sabbatical. Difficult day, unless you are looking for players to fill

:15:33. > :15:37.the Lions slots. You mentioned somebody like John Barclay who

:15:38. > :15:42.nobody mentions when it comes to selection but he has been absolutely

:15:43. > :15:47.outstanding. Hamish Watson. All of those flankers, they have been

:15:48. > :15:54.outstanding but somebody like Finn Russell, he has put his hand up

:15:55. > :16:00.again. Full credit to Scotland, they deserve this, really composed second

:16:01. > :16:04.half, they came under pressure but they have been incredibly clinical

:16:05. > :16:08.at the other end. They scored at important times, that penalty just

:16:09. > :16:16.before half-time and the try after 43 minutes in the second half.

:16:17. > :16:23.Important time to score. Wales have stopped scoring. 15 against England,

:16:24. > :16:29.13 today. Jonathan Davies comes away with it. This is real the average in

:16:30. > :16:34.the Six Nations. They had a chance to improve the average, they will

:16:35. > :16:46.not when but here they come. Looking for a second try. Scotland over the

:16:47. > :16:55.ball again. Will they get another penalty? Into overtime. Scotland

:16:56. > :17:02.sink to their knees. But they will not be done there for long. It has

:17:03. > :17:08.been a wonderful day to be at the home of the game in Scotland. Smiles

:17:09. > :17:13.all round, one boot into touch and the job is done. John Lacey blows

:17:14. > :17:19.his whistle. Scotland, and two out of three, still in the hunt, Vern

:17:20. > :17:24.Cotter, happy man, greets his players. Scotland have

:17:25. > :17:28.comprehensively beaten Wales 29-13. What a performance from Scotland,

:17:29. > :17:37.there was a lot of physicality from Wales but John Barclay led his side

:17:38. > :17:41.so fantastically, two tries to one from Scotland, terrific performance.

:17:42. > :17:44.You would think with the players they have missing, people thought

:17:45. > :17:48.that would be the difference but the guys have stood up. Wales, the first

:17:49. > :17:53.half they could not ask for anything more and the second half was

:17:54. > :17:56.disappointing. They failed to capitalise on possession and

:17:57. > :18:02.territory and defensively some lapses and it was game over.

:18:03. > :18:12.Difficult end to the Six Nations for Wales. This is a sweet game when

:18:13. > :18:16.your country plays this well. Happy days at Murrayfield. Scotland 29,

:18:17. > :18:27.Wales 13. The key fact in the second half,

:18:28. > :18:30.Scotland 20, Wales zero. Scotland's fourth consecutive victory at

:18:31. > :18:33.Murrayfield, the first time in over a decade and a first time they have

:18:34. > :18:39.beaten Wales in more than a decade. If you could see Andy Nicol you

:18:40. > :18:44.would see he is grinning at the Cheshire Catt. Fantastic second

:18:45. > :18:49.half. 20 unanswered points, not just the attack, the defence was

:18:50. > :18:55.outstanding and everything... Scotland were not poor in the

:18:56. > :19:00.opening, they just did not get their game going. But that second half was

:19:01. > :19:06.everything this team has developed into. They had pace and intensity,

:19:07. > :19:11.creativity and they finished the game and that was a brilliant 40

:19:12. > :19:16.minutes. Don't you wish you had written the song, thinking about the

:19:17. > :19:22.royalties? From the Welsh perspective, but this into context

:19:23. > :19:26.given the match two weeks ago. It comes down to creating opportunities

:19:27. > :19:30.and scoring tries. If you look at the second half, two tries for

:19:31. > :19:35.Scotland and Wales did not do anything in attack. We spoke before

:19:36. > :19:39.the game about Finn Russell and whether his goal-kicking would be

:19:40. > :19:41.crucial. If there were any questions, he answered them

:19:42. > :19:49.emphatically Andy is Man of the Match. Huge congratulations, Man of

:19:50. > :19:55.the Match. Fantastic performance by yourself and the team. The boys were

:19:56. > :20:00.awesome, we knew it was going to be tough against Wales, especially with

:20:01. > :20:06.both teams coming away from losses. I'm so proud of the boys out there.

:20:07. > :20:10.What was said at half-time? It was a different team that came out again?

:20:11. > :20:14.We knew Wales were going to be tough but everywhere in the game we could

:20:15. > :20:22.put some points on the board in the second half, digging deep and it was

:20:23. > :20:29.good. If anybody was concerned about missing Greig Laidlaw, you but the

:20:30. > :20:36.answer out there. Your defence has been outstanding as well. I have his

:20:37. > :20:41.boots on! That must have helped. I was happy today. I kept the boys on

:20:42. > :20:45.the front foot and kept the scoreboard ticking over. I was happy

:20:46. > :20:53.with my kicking today. Enjoy that. Thank you. One third of the way

:20:54. > :21:00.through the third weekend of the Six Nations Championship and Scotland on

:21:01. > :21:03.top. By virtue of two wins and the losing bonus point. England play

:21:04. > :21:10.Italy tomorrow and Ireland against France is kicking off very shortly.

:21:11. > :21:18.Keith, any thoughts? And he would like to end the Six Nations write

:21:19. > :21:23.your! -- right now. Scotland were so impressive in the second half. Every

:21:24. > :21:27.opportunity, it took. They were clinical and Wales looked hapless

:21:28. > :21:34.during the second half. We have the Scottish captain. There are not many

:21:35. > :21:38.captains who have made their debut as a captain and gone on to win the

:21:39. > :21:42.match, we have had Jason White, you are one of them as well. What an

:21:43. > :21:47.incredible performance by the home team. We started the championship

:21:48. > :21:53.very well at home against Ireland. We were disappointed against France

:21:54. > :21:56.but we believed we could do something with this group and we're

:21:57. > :22:01.not just saying that, but we have come here today and we have

:22:02. > :22:06.recovered from the poor first-half to build an ice core and beat a very

:22:07. > :22:12.good Welsh side. What was the difference? What changed? We just

:22:13. > :22:15.tightened things up, we were making too many mistakes and giving away

:22:16. > :22:24.too many penalties, we tidy things up in the tackle area and we gave

:22:25. > :22:28.them all. If anybody thought the Ireland result was just a one match

:22:29. > :22:38.performance, you have proven that wrong. I will not make any

:22:39. > :22:47.predictions but are and are very good team, and Wales, and we go to

:22:48. > :22:51.England for the next game and if we work hard, we believe we can win

:22:52. > :22:59.games. Can you beat England? We will have a look at them but we believe

:23:00. > :23:02.so. If we play well, if we play like in Paris and in the first-half, it

:23:03. > :23:09.becomes very difficult. Congratulations. The facts and

:23:10. > :23:14.figures as we consider the penultimate game but Vern Cotter

:23:15. > :23:20.will be in charge of Scotland because we have one more match

:23:21. > :23:24.against Italy before he hands over to Gregor Townsend. We can hear from

:23:25. > :23:30.Alun Wyn Jones for the Welsh view on this result. Very different

:23:31. > :23:37.first-half to the second-half. What changed? We were more efficient with

:23:38. > :23:43.possession in the first-half, there was a shift in momentum but credit

:23:44. > :23:46.to Scotland, they took the opportunity. We did not keep

:23:47. > :23:50.possession in the second half and they took the opportunity to

:23:51. > :23:57.capitalise on that position. Great performances by the guys in your

:23:58. > :24:01.team, that Rhys Webb try, if that was allowed, that could be the

:24:02. > :24:07.turning point? We cannot rule out those opportunities. There are more

:24:08. > :24:12.times in the game when we should have capitalised and with hindsight,

:24:13. > :24:16.there were two tries disallowed but we did fall short in the second

:24:17. > :24:21.half. We mentioned Rhys Webb almost scoring a try. Leigh Halfpenny

:24:22. > :24:25.missed that kick towards the end of the first-half but would have put

:24:26. > :24:30.Wales ten points ahead and one such tiny moments to these big matches

:24:31. > :24:34.depend. We are going to the Red Button after we are finished and BBC

:24:35. > :24:41.One so please cross over. So much to discuss. Those tries, Tommy Seymour,

:24:42. > :24:51.was obstruction? Brilliant play from Scotland. Watch that dummy run. Huw

:24:52. > :24:59.Jones comes onto that brand and Liam Williams raids -- reads the play,

:25:00. > :25:04.Visser on the outside, Visser on the outside, he has a lot to do. He has

:25:05. > :25:10.to hold Leigh Halfpenny. Great tackle by Williams but what a finish

:25:11. > :25:14.and what a try. That has been the difference, they have created two

:25:15. > :25:18.opportunities and scored two tries, Wales have created hardly anything.

:25:19. > :25:23.Webb nearly scored and I said that whoever creates and scores will win

:25:24. > :25:26.this and they created. Brilliant finish from Seymour because of that

:25:27. > :25:32.weight of the tackle looked like it was knocking him into the in goal

:25:33. > :25:35.area. Just very clinical, they executed the passing, it looks

:25:36. > :25:45.simple but sometimes good skills deliver tries. Honourable mention to

:25:46. > :25:51.Tim Visser. He was brilliant. Again, just watch that Welsh defence. Finn

:25:52. > :25:56.Russell spots it, he holds it, the long pass on the outside shoulder to

:25:57. > :26:02.Jonathan Davies, rushing to the line. Watch the pass, brilliant

:26:03. > :26:08.pass, Visser holding, and that is the difference. The pass from

:26:09. > :26:12.Russell was perfect, the pace got that across the line, the second he

:26:13. > :26:20.realised Jonathan Davies was out of the line, but that required Hogg to

:26:21. > :26:23.be awesome. He will get as much satisfaction giving that scoring

:26:24. > :26:32.pass to Tim Visser as you build from the tries he has scored. John

:26:33. > :26:35.Barclay was asked, if we assume England beat Italy at Twickenham

:26:36. > :26:38.tomorrow, in terms of the physicality that Scotland will be

:26:39. > :26:43.confronted with at Twickenham next week, are they up to that? I think

:26:44. > :26:48.they've dipped below their performance against Ireland but they

:26:49. > :26:51.still have this win, they had chances and they took them but they

:26:52. > :26:56.have to raise their game against England. They need to be stronger

:26:57. > :27:00.and more efficient but they cannot give England any opportunity. The

:27:01. > :27:05.one thing they have right now is confidence. They have the confidence

:27:06. > :27:10.and ability to score tries and a few score tries you will give yourself a

:27:11. > :27:14.chance. If they can match England with physicality they have a chance

:27:15. > :27:17.because of creativity. How often have we been here at Murrayfield and

:27:18. > :27:21.we have seen players clapping their hands going into the tunnel,

:27:22. > :27:27.smiling, that is great for Scottish rugby. It really is and the

:27:28. > :27:34.atmosphere here is fantastic, from five minutes away everybody knew

:27:35. > :27:37.Scotland were going to win. It has taken ten years to beat Wales and

:27:38. > :27:42.there have been some chances but they have not been good enough. I

:27:43. > :27:45.have seen this team developed over 18 months and they are not a

:27:46. > :27:51.brilliant site yet but they are getting close. Thank you, were

:27:52. > :27:57.heading to the Red Button. To go there and we will see very shortly.

:27:58. > :28:01.After a slow start, what a fantastic second 40 minutes in terms of

:28:02. > :28:05.entertainment, if not from the Welsh perspective. After a decade,

:28:06. > :28:09.Scotland have broken that bogey and on a couple of locations, at key

:28:10. > :28:18.moments and with brilliance, Scotland threw caution to the wind.

:28:19. > :28:20.Goodbye! If they are going to have a chance at the title, they need to

:28:21. > :28:23.win here.
