:00:55. > :00:58.Hello and welcome to Ski Sunday. We are in Schladming where the World

:00:58. > :01:02.Championships are about to reach their conclusion. The most I will

:01:02. > :01:08.us trious races in the world have convened for a summit meeting like

:01:08. > :01:17.no other. The leaders of speed have triumphed

:01:17. > :01:26.on the mountain. Terrific skiing from Svindal.

:01:26. > :01:31.it's the turn of the Kings of slalom to enter the fray.

:01:31. > :01:41.heroes of today will be brushing shoulders with giants. In a at this

:01:41. > :01:45.

:01:45. > :01:51.time and a -- Titanic struggle for Later in the show we will be

:01:51. > :01:55.catching up with Britain's big name in skiing slope-style, James Woods.

:01:55. > :02:01.Amy Williams went to meet up with the freestyler from Sheffield.

:02:01. > :02:05.we will have high Boots of the men's slalom. It's on Ski Sunday

:02:05. > :02:09.extra, press your red button after the show. First, it's time for the

:02:09. > :02:18.big one, and the clue is in the title, it's giant slalom. Who

:02:18. > :02:25.better to talk to than Mr GS himself, Ted Ligety. I started

:02:25. > :02:30.skiing when I was two in Utah, that's where I grew up.

:02:30. > :02:36.Go, Teddy! I started racing when I was ten years old and started

:02:36. > :02:40.loving it from then on and made the mountain when I was 18. From boy to

:02:40. > :02:44.man, from man to world champion. Ted Ligety has matured into a

:02:45. > :02:52.dominant force. The American has been unstoppable this winter and he

:02:52. > :02:57.is the talk of the town. Ligety, the big favourite for the men's

:02:57. > :03:01.giant slalom. He can do damage when he gets it right. I had a chance,

:03:01. > :03:04.but I didn't think I was going to win it, no, that's definite lay

:03:04. > :03:08.surprise for me -- definitely a surprise for me. He is risking

:03:08. > :03:12.everything. I was hammering, trying as hard as I could to make as much

:03:12. > :03:16.speed. It was difficult in those kind of conditions. Ligety is

:03:16. > :03:20.getting closer. That's one of the cooler days of my career, that's

:03:20. > :03:26.for sure, especially because it's so unexpected. Good line for

:03:26. > :03:30.Ligety! And he's got it! He leads for the USA. Not content with a

:03:30. > :03:35.super-G world title he added the super-combined Crown to his

:03:35. > :03:40.collection this week. Can he add to his gold medal? That's brilliant

:03:40. > :03:43.from Ligety. He knows that was clean and he knows that was fast.

:03:43. > :03:48.Ligety has a third World Championship gold in his sights.

:03:48. > :03:56.He's known as Mr GS for good reason. Dominating the World Cup so far

:03:56. > :03:59.this winter, but there's one man standing in his way. Hirscher takes

:04:00. > :04:04.the win. Marcel and I are definitely neck-and-neck often

:04:04. > :04:10.times in GS. He's pushed me a lot in the last couple of years. He's

:04:10. > :04:14.been able to push me to a new level in GS because he's always skiing at

:04:14. > :04:17.such a high level, his consistency is strong that it pushes me to have

:04:17. > :04:22.to work harder. The biggest lesson is I have tried to learn thousand

:04:22. > :04:32.ski with no re-- how to ski with no regrets. I want to be happy with

:04:32. > :04:37.the way I approached the race. It's giant slalom time. I like the

:04:37. > :04:42.way he works it, Ted Ligety, can anyone beat him. Four wins out of

:04:42. > :04:47.five this season. Ligety is the stone cold favourite. There is one

:04:47. > :04:53.threat. It comes in the form of Marcel. I love comparing their

:04:53. > :05:03.different techniques. Ligety is rangy, very hippie and Hirscher

:05:03. > :05:04.

:05:04. > :05:07.uses his knees more. Ligety's already won the super-G and we know

:05:07. > :05:15.Hirscher is the favourite in the slalom. Is this the middle ground?

:05:15. > :05:19.It is and last season Hirscher took Ligety's world title. You have to

:05:19. > :05:23.say that Ligety's again I think favourite for this. Ligety has been

:05:23. > :05:27.winning by some huge margins. Massive, massive leads on the first

:05:27. > :05:32.run. Over two seconds ahead. That's like being ten nil up in the

:05:32. > :05:36.Champions League at half-time. time to get this race under way.

:05:36. > :05:40.Giant slalom is contested over two runs. The fastest skier from the

:05:40. > :05:50.first leg will ski last in the second leg. Matt Chilton has the

:05:50. > :05:52.

:05:52. > :05:58.the early hours. Ticket touts have been doing a roaring trade. Still

:05:58. > :06:08.no individual golds for Austria. Can Marcel Hirscher rescue the host

:06:08. > :06:09.

:06:09. > :06:16.nation today? Svindal on his way. World champion

:06:16. > :06:20.in 2007. The championships were held in Sweden. He picked up two

:06:20. > :06:25.medals this year. He is the world champion in downhill. Took the

:06:25. > :06:30.bronze in the super-G. In recent seasons his giant slalom form

:06:30. > :06:36.hasn't been quite as good as it was three or four years ago.

:06:36. > :06:41.He has the advantage of going first. A clean track for the multitalented

:06:41. > :06:46.Norwegian. Nice turns so far. The course has

:06:46. > :06:54.been set by one of the Austrian coaches. You can bet your bottom

:06:54. > :07:00.dollar that it's been set to favour Marcel Hirscher. Svindal, a good

:07:00. > :07:03.run here. No mistakes so far. He's got good speed. Through the

:07:03. > :07:10.undergate. Now heads down to the steep final pitch. Got them a

:07:10. > :07:15.little bit wide. Lots of noise to welcome Svindal,

:07:15. > :07:25.hugely popular. Very likeable man. Here he comes.

:07:25. > :07:31.

:07:31. > :07:36.Finishes the first run with a time of 1.14.44. Pretty good run.

:07:36. > :07:39.Alexis Pinturault from France. The French have had a good

:07:39. > :07:45.championships. A gold in the women's downhill. He is making a

:07:45. > :07:55.meal of this course. He's had big battles this season in giant slalom

:07:55. > :07:59.

:07:59. > :08:04.with Marcel Hirscher. Pinturault is just behind but only by a fraction,

:08:04. > :08:09.off the pace of Svindal at time number one.

:08:09. > :08:14.Best chance of a gold probably comes in the final event of the

:08:14. > :08:21.World Championships, the men's slalom.

:08:21. > :08:28.500ths behind. Good work so far from Pinturault. Half-Norwegian and

:08:29. > :08:32.half-French. Still in touch.

:08:32. > :08:36.Turns are looking slightly laboured now.

:08:36. > :08:46.Top 30 will go in reverse order in the second run. He needs to be up

:08:46. > :08:54.

:08:54. > :08:58.near the leaders to give himself a reigning world champion. He has

:08:58. > :09:03.already won two gold medals here in Schladming. In the modern era no

:09:03. > :09:08.man has won more gold gold medals in a single world World

:09:08. > :09:12.Championships, could Ted become the first man since 1968 to win three

:09:12. > :09:19.golds? Ted Ligety for the United States of

:09:19. > :09:25.America. On his way. The ski dimensions have

:09:25. > :09:30.changed this season. Ligety was really vocal in his opposition to

:09:30. > :09:36.any change. It only applied to the giant slalom skis. Ironically, he

:09:36. > :09:43.is the man who's adapted best to the new ski shape. He's dominated

:09:43. > :09:50.this discipline this season. Look at the time difference! After

:09:50. > :09:56.25 seconds, he's 0.68 in front. Ligety cruising here. What a

:09:56. > :10:04.championships he is having. He won the gold in the super-G and took a

:10:04. > :10:09.second title in the super-combined. He is in the process of destroying

:10:09. > :10:15.Svindal's first run time. More than a second in front.

:10:15. > :10:23.Ligety gets them sideways with a little steering pivot and power

:10:23. > :10:32.drift. Incredible skills to pull that off. Another drift.

:10:32. > :10:42.Ligety so far in a different league. Look at the time difference. 1.30

:10:42. > :10:44.

:10:44. > :10:48.faster. Fritz Dopfer is next to race. He's

:10:49. > :10:52.never won a World Cup giant slalom but he's come close this season.

:10:52. > :10:58.Should he win today perhaps the Austrian crowd will claim him as

:10:58. > :11:05.their own. Fritz Dopfer of Germany. Standing tall, sliding the skis

:11:05. > :11:10.back and forwards. Now he goes. Out into the course, a very long

:11:10. > :11:16.demanding first run the Austrian coach has set. Let's see if Dopfer

:11:16. > :11:20.can do damage to leg Ligety's time? -- to Ligety's time. It's unlikely

:11:20. > :11:23.because it was fantastic from the American. He has been the 4th best

:11:24. > :11:33.giant slalom skier in the World Cup this season. He was runner-up to

:11:34. > :11:38.

:11:38. > :11:46.Ligety at the last World Cup race into provisional second place.

:11:46. > :11:52.Absorbing the little changes in the terrain. It's flat-like all the way.

:11:52. > :11:56.No sunshine to give him a guiding light here. Still good enough

:11:56. > :12:00.potentially for second place behind Ted Ligety. He can't afford any

:12:00. > :12:05.mistakes coming on to this steep final pitch and he is a bit late in

:12:05. > :12:15.the line. Jamming the skis sideways. Nowhere near as good in terms of

:12:15. > :12:22.

:12:22. > :12:29.anticipation of the next turn as Ligety was. 1.58 slower than Ligety.

:12:29. > :12:32.Marcel Hirscher is next. Just last week he was Alpine Personality of

:12:32. > :12:36.The Year. He helped Austria win team competition and is hot

:12:36. > :12:42.favourite for the slalom. He's played second fiddle to Ligety in

:12:42. > :12:48.GS this season. But should Ted slip up, you can bet he will be there to

:12:48. > :12:53.take advantage. Marcel Hirscher of Austria in the

:12:53. > :12:57.start gate and on his way. The course has been set with Hirscher

:12:57. > :13:04.in mind by his coach and these are fine turns at the top. Looking for

:13:04. > :13:09.the tuck wherever possible. Carving a good line. The only man apart

:13:09. > :13:18.from Ted Ligety to have won a World Cup giant slalom this season. He

:13:18. > :13:23.took the GS on 9th December. He is a little off the pace, though, as

:13:23. > :13:29.Hirscher gets low. Tries to carve in an aerodynamic position. Good

:13:29. > :13:39.speed. Jams the skis sideways. He might

:13:39. > :13:39.

:13:39. > :13:42.have lost another 10th. Hirscher is now now 1.3 off the pace. Turns

:13:42. > :13:47.slightly laboured in the middle part of the course.

:13:47. > :13:52.It's going to require a second run charge for him to get in amongst

:13:52. > :13:56.the medals. He is way off the racing line.

:13:56. > :14:02.Fatigue starting to play its part now. Six turns to go.

:14:02. > :14:12.Ligety's lead is safe. It's a question of how close Hirscher can

:14:12. > :14:20.

:14:20. > :14:27.Close enough for third. 1.31 seconds off the lead of Ligety.

:14:27. > :14:34.Manfred Moelgg of Italy. Third in the World Cup standings this season.

:14:34. > :14:44.He's been consistent and he could feature in the medals. He needs to

:14:44. > :14:47.

:14:47. > :14:56.get this first run right. It's all about Ted Ligety. Moelgg, this is

:14:56. > :15:01.OK from the Italians. Good anticipation of the change in

:15:01. > :15:08.terrain from Moelgg. He got in trouble there! A bit of freestyle

:15:08. > :15:18.making a turn on the inside ski. Great athletism to recover but the

:15:18. > :15:20.

:15:20. > :15:28.time damage has been done. More than a second adrift. He now trails

:15:28. > :15:38.by 1.27. Last few turns on the steep. Has he got the strength to

:15:38. > :15:52.

:15:52. > :15:59.keep them carving? Here we go. races in this discipline generally.

:15:59. > :16:03.A comes into the world championships in position No. 8 so

:16:03. > :16:12.far this season. Had a nasty incident in training in South

:16:12. > :16:22.America last summer, when he got hit by a giant slalom gate and it

:16:22. > :16:28.

:16:28. > :16:33.punctured his stomach. Some nice pace and he needs to be in a second

:16:33. > :16:39.here. Just over a second down. Looks good for a place in the top

:16:39. > :16:49.three at the end of the first room for the Italian. Italy still

:16:49. > :17:07.

:17:07. > :17:11.looking for their first gold medal Simoncelli, gives himself a good

:17:11. > :17:16.chance in the next run. A on the first front turn Liberty

:17:17. > :17:22.gave a masterclass, showing how well he has adapted to the new

:17:22. > :17:27.regulation skis. The radius of these skis is much longer so they

:17:27. > :17:31.don't carve as tight a turn. He had to do some interesting moves on the

:17:31. > :17:35.final finish a steep to stay on course, pivoting his skis and

:17:35. > :17:45.hammering hard on the edges. It wasn't perhaps the quickest but it

:17:45. > :18:06.

:18:06. > :18:14.kept him online. The giant slalom the second run with the top 30

:18:15. > :18:24.going in reverse order, which means turn -- Ted Ligety will be the last

:18:25. > :18:38.

:18:39. > :18:48.man on the mountain. This is the bronze medallist from the garnish

:18:49. > :18:50.

:18:50. > :18:59.World Championships two years ago in giant slalom. Can you hold his

:18:59. > :19:06.nerve now? He has to focus on the course and not on the red and white

:19:06. > :19:15.which awaits him round the next corner. He is nearly a full second

:19:15. > :19:20.in front. Solid Jaylene slalom skiing. On to the final pitch.

:19:20. > :19:30.Working hard. It is a nice rhythmical finish and he has still

:19:30. > :19:42.

:19:42. > :19:52.got a big green light in his favour, a full second in front. A good run

:19:52. > :20:09.

:20:09. > :20:16.from Schoerghofer. A nice top section from Pinturault, finishing

:20:16. > :20:26.the turn right on the gate. Nothing wrong so far and he has added to

:20:26. > :20:35.his advantage. Just over half the second in front. So this is a good

:20:35. > :20:39.in the middle section. Then he got a bit late, a big plume of snow off

:20:39. > :20:44.the edge of his skis and his lead has been reduced to just over a

:20:44. > :20:54.quarter of a second. The crowd like what they have seen. Things going

:20:54. > :21:00.

:21:00. > :21:10.wrong for Pinturault, it looks like he has run out of steam. Only four

:21:10. > :21:11.

:21:12. > :21:16.hundredth, which way will it go? He has got it, three tenths in front.

:21:16. > :21:19.He will have been a little disappointed with his first run but

:21:19. > :21:23.he certainly laid down a good second run here and the French have

:21:23. > :21:30.been having an amazing World Championships here in Schladming.

:21:30. > :21:40.That will be a difficult time to beat. Certainly the race is on for

:21:40. > :22:11.

:22:11. > :22:21.silver and bronze. We are just nothing gained, nothing lost. This

:22:21. > :22:21.

:22:21. > :22:31.is where Pinturault made his mistakes, in the middle part of the

:22:31. > :22:37.

:22:37. > :22:47.course. Still in there, 17 hundredths might be starting to

:22:47. > :22:48.

:22:48. > :22:58.wobble, looking vulnerable now, and it has gone red for the Italian.

:22:58. > :23:11.

:23:11. > :23:19.Pinturault Fourth's lead appears to In fifth position after the first

:23:19. > :23:29.room. He looks tentative over his skis. I am not sure this is

:23:29. > :23:33.

:23:33. > :23:43.aggressive enough to really push for a medal. He is already behind.

:23:43. > :23:49.

:23:49. > :23:56.His advantage has been wiped out during the top 15 turns. It is not

:23:56. > :24:06.over for Dopfer but he can't afford any mistakes. This one will go down

:24:06. > :24:16.to the wire. He is looking at a bit stiff in his upper-body. I don't

:24:16. > :24:16.

:24:16. > :24:26.think he can fight back from this sort of deficit. Tucking in for the

:24:26. > :24:27.

:24:27. > :24:37.line, he has missed his chance. Pinturault, still in gold medal

:24:37. > :24:46.

:24:47. > :24:53.position. Manfred Moelgg used a bit of knowledge and that was a lucky

:24:53. > :25:03.escape, he skidded sideways. How much damage has that dumb to his

:25:03. > :25:24.

:25:24. > :25:30.time. -- Dom to his time? The flat section here, this is where the

:25:30. > :25:34.leader's run started to unravel. The crowd would love to see Manfred

:25:34. > :25:44.Moelgg get on to the podium and this is looking possible. They

:25:44. > :25:45.

:25:45. > :25:53.can't split them. Dead level with Pinturault. Tucking in to take

:25:53. > :25:59.first position. He is in gold medal spot.

:25:59. > :26:03.Manfred Moelgg made a mistake on the top part of the course, and as

:26:03. > :26:09.Ligety was explaining to me before the race, if you make a mistake

:26:09. > :26:15.with these skis, because they are so stiff and long, it takes quite a

:26:15. > :26:22.few gates to get them back. Manfred Moelgg was able to pick up time

:26:22. > :26:32.near the finish but that earlier mistake could be costly.

:26:32. > :26:34.

:26:34. > :26:40.Marcel Hirscher is ready to race to salvage some Austrian pride. He was

:26:40. > :26:50.third after the first run, outclassed by Ted Ligety, but he

:26:50. > :27:04.

:27:04. > :27:09.through the top 20 turns and now leading by 0.79. It is approaching

:27:09. > :27:19.fever-pitch in the finish as the Austrians watch Marcel Hirscher

:27:19. > :27:22.

:27:22. > :27:28.attack the bottom part of the course. He is on his way to a medal

:27:28. > :27:38.in the world championship giant slalom. House to stay on his feet.

:27:38. > :27:47.

:27:47. > :27:57.He is anticipating every section of second, and they are going crazy in

:27:57. > :27:59.

:28:00. > :28:05.Schladming. A huge cheer from the Austrian fans, they know they are

:28:05. > :28:10.at least guaranteed a medal here. Marcel Hirscher had a great run.

:28:10. > :28:20.I'm not sure if it will be enough to beat Ted Ligety at his best, but

:28:20. > :28:31.

:28:31. > :28:37.enough to get Brahms or silver. -- bronze. Aksel Lund Svindal's

:28:37. > :28:44.advantage is just one 10th of the second. Good aggression at the top,

:28:44. > :28:52.he really means business here, hoping to add to the gold and

:28:52. > :29:02.bronze he has already pocketed at the World Championships. The

:29:02. > :29:05.

:29:06. > :29:15.technical demands of the mid- part Lund Svindal. He is beginning to

:29:16. > :29:16.

:29:16. > :29:25.look clumsy, and into the red now. Hence the sudden crescendo, as they

:29:26. > :29:35.can sense that Marcel Hirscher is just one step away from taking the

:29:36. > :29:38.

:29:38. > :29:42.gold. He skis into third position, with just Ligety to come. At least

:29:42. > :29:46.the silver-medal form Marcel Hirscher now.

:29:46. > :29:52.Aksel Lund Svindal really lost it on the steep section. I think he

:29:52. > :30:00.would prefer the turns to be over a longer radius. He is very powerful

:30:00. > :30:05.but can't carve a tight line as some of the other skiers. He will

:30:05. > :30:14.have to wait and see, but lying in third place so far. With Ligety

:30:14. > :30:19.having such a big advantage to come, I think he will miss out on a medal.

:30:19. > :30:24.1.31 seconds is the enormous lead Ted liberty has coming into this

:30:24. > :30:31.second run as he goes for the hat- trick of gold medals. The last man

:30:31. > :30:41.to do that at a major championships did it in 1968 at the Olympic

:30:41. > :30:42.

:30:42. > :30:52.Winter Games. Ligety continues to move up. Absolutely sensational

:30:52. > :30:59.

:30:59. > :31:06.That's his first mistake. Might have cost him a 10th but it won't

:31:06. > :31:14.cost him the gold. 1.68 in front, despite the mistakes. Ligety looks

:31:14. > :31:21.good for gold medal number three. He will break Austrian hearts here.

:31:22. > :31:27.1.59. Fantastic from Ligety. He can afford a mistake.

:31:27. > :31:36.He will still win the World Championship giant slalom. Ligety's

:31:36. > :31:40.got it! What a run! What a magnificent performance.

:31:40. > :31:44.If I had to be a little bit picky I would say Ted backed off down the

:31:44. > :31:48.last ten gates. He knew that he had a massive lead. He skied the top

:31:48. > :31:53.part of the course really aggressively, attacking, actually

:31:53. > :31:57.picked up time on Hirscher and the last ten gates into the finish he

:31:57. > :32:04.didn't want any mistakes and came across the line to take the victory.

:32:04. > :32:08.Perfect giant slalom skiing. Ted Ligety has made history by

:32:08. > :32:17.becoming the first male skier in the modern era to win three gold

:32:17. > :32:21.medals. Hirscher came close but has to settle for silver. This week has

:32:21. > :32:25.been unbelievable. It's something that far, far exceeds my

:32:25. > :32:29.expectations, for sure. You know, it's far and away the best week of

:32:29. > :32:34.ski racing in my life, that's for sure. Huge amount of pressure

:32:34. > :32:38.wearing that current champion bib. Did that have any effect on you?

:32:38. > :32:41.Definitely felt the pressure, for sure. You know, being the defending

:32:41. > :32:46.world champion and also having won two gold medals already was

:32:46. > :32:52.definitely a lot of pressure. So, you know, I was able to follow

:32:52. > :32:55.through. The celebrations will go on at long into the night. The

:32:55. > :33:05.World Championships are nearly at an end and the partying will begin

:33:05. > :33:13.

:33:13. > :33:17.very soon. Seems like it all of the championships when the

:33:17. > :33:22.superstar of women's skiing suffered a terrible leg injury in

:33:22. > :33:26.the controversial super-G event. my word Vonn is down and she hit

:33:26. > :33:31.the deck hard! She has since had surgery in the States and says

:33:32. > :33:41.she's hopeful of making it back in time for the Olympics next year.

:33:42. > :33:47.

:33:47. > :33:50.Overall World Cup leader Marsi. Reiss scores into gold medal

:33:50. > :33:56.position for Germany. Then it was time for the big one, the race that

:33:56. > :34:00.would light up the championships, the men's downhill. Although the

:34:00. > :34:04.crowd will have to wait a little while longer for a home grown

:34:04. > :34:14.winner the race itself did not disappoint.

:34:14. > :34:18.

:34:18. > :34:26.In challenging conditions it was nor Norwegian skiing's poster boy.

:34:26. > :34:36.In the women's race there was no shortage of drama. She's got it,

:34:36. > :34:37.

:34:37. > :34:47.what a brilliant run. That became the double gold for France. Martsi

:34:47. > :34:55.

:34:55. > :35:00.picked up silver. In the slalom. There's no doubting the star of

:35:00. > :35:05.2013, not since the 1960s has anyone won three world titles.

:35:05. > :35:09.Ligety makes a bit of history. Ligety is the super-G, super-

:35:09. > :35:14.combined and GS world champion. And now a member of a very exclusive

:35:14. > :35:18.club. With nine golds already decided

:35:18. > :35:22.only one remains, and if the drama lives up to the rest of the battles

:35:22. > :35:26.we witnessed on this this hill, it's going to be one to remember.

:35:26. > :35:30.Don't forget you can see that final World Championship slalom on Ski

:35:30. > :35:34.Sunday Extra. Before that, Amy Williams travelled to Switzerland

:35:34. > :35:39.to meet freestyle skier James Woods. He is currently ranked number one

:35:39. > :35:42.in the world in ski slope-style, an event that will make its Olympic

:35:42. > :35:52.debut at Sochi next year. Could he be on the verge of winning

:35:52. > :35:56.

:35:56. > :36:00.Britain's first ever gold medal on not even hit the features the way

:36:00. > :36:04.they're built to be hit, innovation and creativity. That's what the

:36:04. > :36:09.sport is. It's a free sport. You can't teach

:36:09. > :36:19.someone exactly how this is done. It's like use your own natural,

:36:19. > :36:24.

:36:24. > :36:28.bigger you go, the better. Execution of the tricks, whatever

:36:28. > :36:38.you are going to do, do it really well. Technical difficulty. Style.

:36:38. > :36:39.

:36:39. > :36:43.Innovation. When something new happens, it's just wow! I think you

:36:43. > :36:48.have got the most amount of energy and buzz coming from you now that I

:36:48. > :36:52.can feel that you just love your sport. Yeah, for sure. It's amazing.

:36:52. > :36:55.I hope that everyone finds that thing they're passionate about. For

:36:55. > :37:05.me it's just having fun and I seem to have the most fun when I am

:37:05. > :37:05.

:37:06. > :37:09.skiing. Watch this! Every time you go up

:37:09. > :37:14.and try something new, that satisfaction is just... It's inside

:37:14. > :37:18.and if you get a medal at the end, then bonus. Yeah. You got the last

:37:18. > :37:25.two World Cup medals? Yeah, there's been three World Cups, just

:37:25. > :37:30.travelling from the last one. I got the first two gold medals. The

:37:30. > :37:33.third one - I got top ten. And two gold golds. I qualified for the

:37:33. > :37:38.Olympics now. I don't want to just be a British person that qualifies

:37:38. > :37:43.for the winter Olympics and gets there and gives it a bash. Because

:37:43. > :37:47.I - you know, it's all about taking part, that is the Olympic dream but

:37:47. > :37:52.at the end of the day you want to go and give it your thing for

:37:52. > :37:56.yourself and for your country and stuff. My goal is to not qualify

:37:56. > :37:59.for the Olympics, but absolutely smash it.

:37:59. > :38:03.It's hard when people say are you going to get a medal? Everyone

:38:03. > :38:13.knows as an athlete it's the question you don't want to say in

:38:13. > :38:21.

:38:21. > :38:25.your heart of course you are going ski resort, thought we would show

:38:25. > :38:31.you a little bit of what I get up to day-to-day. Now we are

:38:31. > :38:37.completely crammed. Do you find you are having to to skopb stapbt --

:38:37. > :38:41.having to battle constantly for space? I am lucky, this slope is a

:38:41. > :38:46.holiday, it's amazing. But on a day-to-day, as much as the holiday-

:38:46. > :38:50.makers are bringing it all in and it's great and keep skiing,

:38:50. > :39:00.sometimes it's like oh, man, I just want to get up there and go again

:39:00. > :39:05.

:39:06. > :39:10.What's going to happen? What are you going to show us? A couple

:39:10. > :39:20.first and move on to kickers. get ready and I will come and

:39:20. > :39:28.

:39:28. > :39:33.into it before you go off and do your completely crazy stuff? Well,

:39:33. > :39:37.I started on a dry slope started skiing and giving it a go. I joined

:39:37. > :39:39.a ski club because it was the easiest, I learned skiing and

:39:39. > :39:43.snowboarding together. It took a little bit to hit some rails but

:39:43. > :39:46.once I did, you know, like it's just the whole thing. You can do

:39:46. > :39:50.whatever you want. There's no regimes. As long as you keep it wb

:39:50. > :39:56.your -- within your ability and keep it safe, like know what tkoubg

:39:56. > :40:06.and know your level -- like know what you can do and know your level,

:40:06. > :40:17.

:40:17. > :40:21.be the Winter Olympics season, how do you think you are going to cope

:40:21. > :40:25.with that pressure? Have you a little stra taoepblg kwreub plan?

:40:25. > :40:27.- strategic plan? There is sa lot of pressure. There's always TV

:40:28. > :40:30.cameras, a lot of great interest which is incredible, you know,

:40:31. > :40:34.because people are interested in what we are doing and we couldn't

:40:34. > :40:37.ask for more. But for the Olympics it's the pinnacle in sport. It is

:40:37. > :40:41.going to be a lot of pressure but I have always said it when people

:40:41. > :40:46.have asked me this question, there's no pressure that anyone

:40:46. > :40:49.else, even everyone in the world, my whole country can put on me,

:40:49. > :40:54.that is greater than the pressure I put on myself. I am sure that you

:40:54. > :40:58.understand that. I look at it that way and think, you know, nothing's

:40:58. > :41:01.changed since I was a tot and on the dry slope competing. Yeah,

:41:01. > :41:11.nothing actually has changed. I am just going out and skiing the best

:41:11. > :41:18.

:41:18. > :41:23.he just said how small the jumps are, he's got so much more height

:41:23. > :41:30.than I would have imagined. I thought that was wicked, awesome. I

:41:30. > :41:36.am picking up the lingo - wicked! I want to know some lingo. I use

:41:36. > :41:46.stoked a lot, you know, fired up, budsing -- buzzing. Just make

:41:46. > :41:47.

:41:47. > :41:57.things up, that's what I do. Put age on the end of anything, Stoke-

:41:57. > :41:58.

:41:58. > :42:05.age! The bravery to do that is incredible. That was our attempt to

:42:05. > :42:11.high-five each other but we missed. It worked, take two! Got it!

:42:11. > :42:14.P. Thank you for letting me spend the day with you, it's been awe

:42:14. > :42:16.some. I have been carrying around something that I am convinced if

:42:16. > :42:25.everything goes to plan in a year's time you could be getting something

:42:25. > :42:30.similar. That's pretty cool. Actually, you know, you hold on to

:42:30. > :42:40.it. You don't want to touch? No, no, I will get my own one. I appreciate

:42:40. > :42:53.

:42:53. > :42:59.it. Go and get yours. Thank you. Sochi. It's looking like our alpine

:42:59. > :43:02.hopes will rest with Dave Riding and Chemmy Alcott. You believe our

:43:02. > :43:05.success success will come from slope-style. We have seen an

:43:05. > :43:08.increase in funding the last couple of years that's helped nurture a

:43:09. > :43:12.new generation of skiers and snowboarders. At the forefront for

:43:12. > :43:15.me is James Woods. Two World Cup wins this season and pound for

:43:15. > :43:21.pound one of the best freestyle skiers in the world. Off the

:43:21. > :43:26.mountain we have two others that are the best, Shelley Rudman and

:43:26. > :43:34.Christie in short track. It's exciting times. That's it from Skeu

:43:34. > :43:43.Sunday from the World Championships but more next week when Ski Sunday
