:00:59. > :01:08.The art of downhill skiing drama, catch you then.

:01:09. > :01:45.To become a champion means more than play. It begins

:01:46. > :01:50.To become a champion means more than pushing the limit. Gravity takes

:01:51. > :01:53.hold at the bottom of the hill. It takes something very special to get

:01:54. > :02:03.to the top of the podium. There's a certain irony that this

:02:04. > :02:07.quiet, picture-postcard resort in Switzerland hosts

:02:08. > :02:10.probably the most punishing, gruelling downhills

:02:11. > :02:12.on the World Cup circuit. The crowds are flocking

:02:13. > :02:17.to the finish area eager to see We are also in Flachau, Austria,

:02:18. > :02:22.which plays host to the women's Chemmy Alcott has caught up

:02:23. > :02:26.with Britain's Alex Tilley to find out how she's adjusting to racing

:02:27. > :02:30.on the elite World Cup circuit. And we finish the programme

:02:31. > :02:33.with the jaw-dropping spectacle Think slopestyle times two,

:02:34. > :02:51.three, 20 or 30 even. The main point

:02:52. > :02:57.have 20 or 30 skiers jumping over each other. You see all the big

:02:58. > :03:00.jumps crossover each other. What happens if the calculations are

:03:01. > :03:03.wrong? Somebody might get their head chopped off. Do not miss that later

:03:04. > :03:05.on. First though, it's the race

:03:06. > :03:21.from Wengen and it's our first The Norwegians dominating. They have

:03:22. > :03:27.such a small team, but they are dominating. Svindal in scintillating

:03:28. > :03:31.form. That year he had off because of the Achilles injury, it is given

:03:32. > :03:46.extra speed. In the form of his life. Seems to have come to the

:03:47. > :03:51.detriment of his team-mate. I don't think he would have achieved

:03:52. > :04:02.anything without Svindal. Now he is back, he is almost pushing too hard

:04:03. > :04:08.to beat his team-mate. This is the Austrian, one to watch. There are

:04:09. > :04:14.the Italians. Christof Innerhofer, and Peter Fill. 34 years of age,

:04:15. > :04:19.just had a child, given him extra determination to go fast. We are in

:04:20. > :04:21.Switzerland, the Lauberhorn, the classic downhill race, never rule

:04:22. > :04:33.out the Swiss Ron Holmes snow. As we know, the Lauberhorn

:04:34. > :04:37.is the longest downhill on the tour. The longest downhill

:04:38. > :04:39.on the World Cup, nearly five kilometres of quad-burning,

:04:40. > :04:57.lung-busting, breath-taking action. Unbelievable drama. He has got it.

:04:58. > :05:11.Oh, yes left it all on the level one. -- Lauberhorn. Because of the

:05:12. > :05:20.new snow on the top of the course, we have moved the start down. Not

:05:21. > :05:25.too much speed in the first two corners, work the skis around the

:05:26. > :05:30.corners, setting up for straight into the jump. Just clipping the

:05:31. > :05:42.bump as I went through, over the top. Hard on the left ski, as you go

:05:43. > :05:47.round the corner. That is the toughest part of the course, right

:05:48. > :05:54.there and then. Out of the gate, no warm up. They have done a great job

:05:55. > :06:04.of clearing the new snow off the track. Another little jump.

:06:05. > :06:09.Underneath the railway track. Out onto the glide. The gliding part of

:06:10. > :06:21.the course will be so important today. With these new snow

:06:22. > :06:29.conditions. Coming towards the S. Really working the skis through the

:06:30. > :06:49.terrain here. The terms are so vital, from here on, straight and

:06:50. > :06:57.fast. Through the speed trap. Out. Good light, good visibility. Over

:06:58. > :07:03.the Silverthorne jump. Quite a hard landing. A latter terrain as you go

:07:04. > :07:12.through the Austrian hole. Approaching the finish S, wide to

:07:13. > :07:18.the net. Hard on your right ski, get nice and high. Pressure on the left

:07:19. > :07:31.ski, over, the final run into the finish. Well, no one start, snow

:07:32. > :07:36.this morning, now son, what kind of state is the course in? Because of

:07:37. > :07:40.the lower start, no warm up, straight into the big flight, really

:07:41. > :07:47.rough afterwards. That is the key part of the course, straight out of

:07:48. > :07:53.the gates. That is Graham's verdict. Signed to put the races to the test,

:07:54. > :07:59.this is the Wengen Downhill. COMMENTATOR:. Something rather

:08:00. > :08:05.special on downhill day, for the Swiss and racing fans all over. The

:08:06. > :08:11.scenery and the spectacle combining to make any unique sporting arena.

:08:12. > :08:19.David Poisson in the gate. Shortened downhill this year. He has to start

:08:20. > :08:26.on the flat. Still skating as he sets up for the cliff jump, one of

:08:27. > :08:38.the classic obstacles in this classic men's downhill. Standing

:08:39. > :08:52.hard on the left ski now. Low onto the flat,

:08:53. > :09:00.three this ass. Through the railway line, into the tunnel. Into the fast

:09:01. > :09:09.as part of the course. Clocking 143 climate is per hour. David Poisson

:09:10. > :09:20.is going solidly in Wengen. The Silverthorne next. Excellent run so

:09:21. > :09:28.far from the powerful Frenchman. Working hard, legs burning, not

:09:29. > :09:35.quite as tough as normal. The short course, but still a real test for

:09:36. > :09:41.these pros. Good run from David Poisson, from in the gauntlet down.

:09:42. > :09:48.He will be hoping the new snow would not have slowed him down on the

:09:49. > :09:56.technical section. Race number four for Austria, one of the veterans,

:09:57. > :10:00.Klaus Kroll. Like speed skater, the momentum of the top of the course.

:10:01. > :10:09.Dummy in towards the cliff jump. Beautiful flight. Solid landing,

:10:10. > :10:19.standing on the right ski, he has to absorb the next stage. Klaus Kroll

:10:20. > :10:31.has won in Wengen in the past. Taking this race back in 2011. This

:10:32. > :10:40.part of the course named after one of the best of the last crop of

:10:41. > :10:45.Swiss skiers. Out of the S. Clocking 143.8 kilometres per hour. He is

:10:46. > :11:02.almost a quarter of a second quicker than David Poisson. Not the

:11:03. > :11:11.smoothest landing of the Silverhorn. Looks pretty good shape as the tax

:11:12. > :11:16.towards the line. He leads the way in Wengen by 11 hundredths of a

:11:17. > :11:19.second. A veteran skier who knows this course like the back of his

:11:20. > :11:24.hand. As soon as the classic downhill starts, Klaus Kroll

:11:25. > :11:33.suddenly starts to come in form. Christof Innerhofer, from Italy.

:11:34. > :11:47.Winner of the downhill here in 2013. To minutes .29 .82 seconds on that

:11:48. > :12:06.day. 2.29.282 seconds that they. He stands tall

:12:07. > :12:20.. Comes out with good speed. Under the railway line. On his way.

:12:21. > :12:37.High-speed, 142 Columbus is per hour. In a hopper was half a second

:12:38. > :12:47.in front. He trails. It is close. It is a case of letting the skis

:12:48. > :12:50.collide. That is nicely done. Christof Innerhofer home in second.

:12:51. > :12:57.Missing the lead by seven hundredths. Seven hundredths of a

:12:58. > :13:01.second, Christof Innerhofer not quite taking the lead. Skiing

:13:02. > :13:04.brilliantly on the top part of the course. Carry great speed through

:13:05. > :13:14.there. Did well on the finish S. Not course. Carry great speed through

:13:15. > :13:20.fast enough on the glide. Next Peter Fill, the veteran racer, originally

:13:21. > :13:24.he trained as a car mechanic before committing to Alpine skiing. Crashed

:13:25. > :13:31.last year, but got the bodywork back in shape. If there is a faulty axle,

:13:32. > :13:38.he will hope to turbo to victory. Peter Fill, the Italian, racer

:13:39. > :13:48.number 15. Visibility in and out, bank of cloud. He's going to fly

:13:49. > :14:03.here. Never won one of the classic

:14:04. > :14:11.downhill is. Time to be running out, maybe today? Comes onto the

:14:12. > :14:21.narrowest part of the course. The entry to the S. The entry out is a

:14:22. > :14:30.little slower than he would have liked. Plunging down, the fastest

:14:31. > :14:42.man on the mountain so far. 145.7 metres per hour. For lying through

:14:43. > :14:47.this course. Struggling for dynamic balance. Managed to stay on his

:14:48. > :14:52.feet, but would have given himself quite a scare at that speed. 15

:14:53. > :15:04.hundredths behind Klaus Kroll at the last intermediate. He is sixth, .29.

:15:05. > :15:16.He mistakenly Silverhorn Costin. Every funded point is taken.

:15:17. > :15:29.Paris could do well this week. Look pretty solid in training. At silly

:15:30. > :15:34.brute of a man. Not quite as comfortable as some of the others in

:15:35. > :15:42.the air. He's taking chances, but Paris get the reward. A quarter of a

:15:43. > :15:49.second quicker than Klaus Kroll. Now to the narrow gully. 106.3 onto the

:15:50. > :15:51.entrance. The exit did not look particularly tidy. 75.2 kilometres

:15:52. > :16:06.per hour on No Way Out. He is only just in front of Klaus

:16:07. > :16:14.Kroell. 143 plus kilometres per hour. Silverthorne standing tall.

:16:15. > :16:20.Keeping his body up to the wind and that would have slowed him down a

:16:21. > :16:26.fraction. 700th of a second behind Klaus Kroell. Standing on that right

:16:27. > :16:32.ski and he dips the inside edge of the left ski into the snow, looking

:16:33. > :16:39.for purchase and speed. He has got second, 500 of the second out. Paris

:16:40. > :16:45.is so good on the top part of the course, really lives on his skis. He

:16:46. > :16:51.stands so clean on his edges. He loses it on the Clyde. There was

:16:52. > :17:02.missed just above which would have slowed him down slightly, losing out

:17:03. > :17:13.by 500th of a second. Svindal, the best downhill racer of the season so

:17:14. > :17:20.far. Can he win in Wengen? Smooth and soft on the landing, standing on

:17:21. > :17:24.the right ski. Already, nearly four tents of the second Dan Klaus Kroell

:17:25. > :17:38.of Austria. He comes in as prerace favourite,

:17:39. > :17:45.carrying good speed in the way in and out, under the railway line,

:17:46. > :17:51.Svindal is going like a train. Now, we follow him on the relatively flat

:17:52. > :17:55.section. 103.3, this shot delivered courtesy of the helicopter and you

:17:56. > :18:00.can see the misty conditions, the fog thickening on the bottom part of

:18:01. > :18:10.the course. It is something of a journey into the unknown here. For

:18:11. > :18:15.them. -- for Svindal. Now we pick him up in slightly cleaner air. Look

:18:16. > :18:23.at the time difference, Svindal going even quicker. Does not matter

:18:24. > :18:29.about the missed, Svindal is out to prove he is the number one. The

:18:30. > :18:34.about the missed, Svindal is out to classic Wengen downhill, he is going

:18:35. > :18:41.to take some beating today. Svindal absolutely ripping it up on the

:18:42. > :18:46.Lauberhorn in Wengen. Hard on that left ski, he has plenty of strength

:18:47. > :18:53.left in reserve, Svindal will lead, 1.5 seconds faster than Klaus

:18:54. > :18:59.Kroell. That is unbelievable. Everyone else has been coming down

:19:00. > :19:04.hundreds of a second apart. Svindal destroys them, 1.5 seconds. That is

:19:05. > :19:11.what happens when you get the best gear in the world on the fastest

:19:12. > :19:15.skis. He carried speed through, and his skis just took off on the

:19:16. > :19:17.gliding section. All the speedy had on the top just multiplied all the

:19:18. > :19:31.way down the course. Completely unbeatable. Next ago is the Austrian

:19:32. > :19:41.number one Hannes Reichelt. He loves this classic course. Can the

:19:42. > :19:48.Austrian make history here today? Hannes Reichelt, winner 12 months

:19:49. > :19:54.ago. Look at him go there. Hannes Reichelt is after this one. Flats

:19:55. > :20:02.start, he is wanting the speed, he is wanting to fly. The cliff jump,

:20:03. > :20:09.soft, solid landing. Hannes Reichelt clocks 19.03 as he clatters that

:20:10. > :20:18.control gate. Narrowest part of the course. Coming towards where the

:20:19. > :20:23.race can be won and lost. Not too fast on the way in for Hannes

:20:24. > :20:27.Reichelt. On the exit, it is pretty quick actually, 79.7. Diving under

:20:28. > :20:32.the tunnel, picking up speed all the quick actually, 79.7. Diving under

:20:33. > :20:45.time. He is just over a quarter of a second behind Svindal as he skis off

:20:46. > :20:48.into the fog. This is getting to be a tricky situation for the

:20:49. > :20:54.organisers because the weather is in and out all the time. How will

:20:55. > :21:03.Hannes Reichelt emerge through the mist? Next split at the bottom and

:21:04. > :21:06.he is still in touch, Hannes Reichelt has dealt with the

:21:07. > :21:14.difficult visibility quite brilliantly. 16 hundredths mind

:21:15. > :21:21.Svindal, potentially on his way to second place. Can he get the right

:21:22. > :21:29.side of Hannes Reichelt -- temp was -- Svindal's time? Hannes Reichelt

:21:30. > :21:34.towards the finish. The Austrian would love to put one down and win a

:21:35. > :21:43.race in Switzerland. It is close, he is second, he has just missed it. I

:21:44. > :21:47.said Svindal is almost unbeatable but Hannes Reichelt came close. He

:21:48. > :21:56.will be happy with that ahead of next week's race in Austria. In the

:21:57. > :22:17.start up as last year's start up, kettle jams road. -- kettle jams

:22:18. > :22:23.the weather drifting in and out, waiting for clear air. Kjetil

:22:24. > :22:27.Jansrud is released from the start at the top of the race but look at

:22:28. > :22:32.the weather he has to deal with. This was clear for most of his

:22:33. > :22:39.competitors. Advantage for the early starters as Kjetil Jansrud hits the

:22:40. > :22:55.fog. He lands it sweetly enough, good turn. He stands and flies. The

:22:56. > :22:58.current leader is Svindal. They have enjoyed a very healthy rivalry in

:22:59. > :23:02.the Norwegian camp and on the World Cup circuit for the last five or so

:23:03. > :23:12.years. They push each other to new heights week after week. As Kjetil

:23:13. > :23:16.Jansrud comes flying down. His chance has gone, he is more than a

:23:17. > :23:24.second and a half behind his team-mate, Svindal. He will be

:23:25. > :23:26.breathing easy at the foot of the course as he watches that time

:23:27. > :23:32.flashed up on the big screen. No danger to his lead from his

:23:33. > :23:35.compatriot, Kjetil Jansrud. He is dealt a cruel card with a sudden

:23:36. > :23:42.shift in the weather. He will finish dealt a cruel card with a sudden

:23:43. > :23:48.safely enough. More than two seconds slower. I am sure that if Kjetil

:23:49. > :23:52.Jansrud had started early in the race today, he would not have skied

:23:53. > :23:57.so closely. That run was purely down to the conditions. When it gets flat

:23:58. > :24:01.like that, you are getting hit by all of the bonds you cannot quite

:24:02. > :24:05.see. When it is sunny, you can see the bonds and works to rain and

:24:06. > :24:13.generate speed. That is just bad luck for Kjetil Jansrud. There was

:24:14. > :24:18.another delay for fog on the course. With 30 required to skied before a

:24:19. > :24:22.result was declared. An anxious wait for those at the top and bottom of

:24:23. > :24:26.the course. The mist then cleared sufficiently for the race to

:24:27. > :24:39.continue. Everyone was much slower than the leader. This skier was keen

:24:40. > :24:48.to show off his safety airbag. We have a race now? As Banks left the

:24:49. > :24:53.start heart, his question was answered in the affirmative. Another

:24:54. > :25:02.Norwegian waited patiently for his turn. He had a superb finish of 15,

:25:03. > :25:10.further proof of Norway's attacking Viking strength and more. Victory in

:25:11. > :25:17.the Lauberhorn classic downhill. Svindal, the man of the season so

:25:18. > :25:21.far. You were not quite able to defend the title from last year? It

:25:22. > :25:29.was a good run nonetheless? I think my run was really good. Svindal had

:25:30. > :25:36.a better one. It was really close. It was 19 hundredths. I am really

:25:37. > :25:40.happy to be again on the podium. What is it like to ski into a bag

:25:41. > :25:44.happy to be again on the podium. fog like that? It is really scary,

:25:45. > :25:51.it is the same when you go with the car at 120 or something else. It was

:25:52. > :26:00.on the limit of the safety because I did not see really the next gates,

:26:01. > :26:05.and so I was thinking, OK, Svindal did it so I can do it also. It is

:26:06. > :26:09.definitely that day-to-day when conditions are coming in and out so

:26:10. > :26:13.it is tough skiing. I was lucky enough to have decent conditions.

:26:14. > :26:17.Myself and Hannes Reichelt were able to pull away from the rest of the

:26:18. > :26:22.pack by quite a margin. It is not a perfect day to win, you want to win

:26:23. > :26:33.-10 degrees, blue skies, no wind, so there is no debate. But nice to

:26:34. > :26:42.finally have one. As proceedings draw to a close here in Wengen, the

:26:43. > :26:46.women have been racing. Alex Tilley, 26 in role, the first female British

:26:47. > :26:55.racer to take on a World Cup tour since Chemmy Alcott. The two of them

:26:56. > :27:00.met up before Friday night's slalom. 13 years ago, I was a rookie racing

:27:01. > :27:04.my first all-time season on the World Cup tour. I was young,

:27:05. > :27:13.determined and hungry for success and in Alex Tilley, I see those same

:27:14. > :27:17.traits. I have known Alex since she was a junior and it is really

:27:18. > :27:22.exciting seeing him mature as a racer. Since last year, she has

:27:23. > :27:26.teamed up with new coach Noel Baxter and her natural talent was always

:27:27. > :27:29.there but the confidence she now has through having someone like Noel

:27:30. > :27:35.believing in her, is making all the difference. It is his strength, she

:27:36. > :27:39.can attack courses like not many other girls can. When it is a medium

:27:40. > :27:44.pitch and good swing to the course, she has that strength to call on.

:27:45. > :27:48.She can snap the terms of which is why she can be a solid top ten

:27:49. > :27:52.skier. I whizz found when it was one-on-one with a coach, it was

:27:53. > :27:58.quite an intense environment but you also become very good mates as well

:27:59. > :28:02.and you can see that. You have to switch off from skiing as well. You

:28:03. > :28:06.cannot be at Dejagah's throats all the time. There has to be a mutual

:28:07. > :28:11.respect there and a good relationship as well, not just

:28:12. > :28:18.coach-athletes, super intense all the time. What do you do when you

:28:19. > :28:24.are not skiing? I benefit a lot from just relaxing. I like a bit of alone

:28:25. > :28:27.time. Embarrassing as it is, I have this colouring book and I get

:28:28. > :28:32.totally involved in it! It is not that cool! But it really helps me

:28:33. > :28:38.relax. You talk about that alone time but the other Brit on fire now,

:28:39. > :28:43.Dave Ryding, he is very much like that as well. How does that benefit

:28:44. > :28:47.you? We spent a lot of time together this summer which was really cool

:28:48. > :28:48.because I have always seen him and thought, I don't know anyone that

:28:49. > :28:52.has worked harder than him. For thought, I don't know anyone that

:28:53. > :28:56.to see that first-hand and try to keep up with that was definitely a

:28:57. > :29:04.learning experience and really cool to do. We have had two giant slalom

:29:05. > :29:13.this season, in Austria, you smashed them both. You qualified and in the

:29:14. > :29:17.end, you got that top 20. It was a tricky one, such a-me for the first

:29:18. > :29:23.time getting into the top 30 and then, crashing out second run... To

:29:24. > :29:28.do it in the end and up my game and get a top 20, it was huge. After

:29:29. > :29:32.that qualification, a few frustrating months, how did you

:29:33. > :29:37.handle that? In all honesty, not very well! It was really hard for me

:29:38. > :29:41.and for my coach as well, very frustrating. We got honest with each

:29:42. > :29:45.other and ourselves and said, we need to just relax and let it happen

:29:46. > :29:51.almost. Going into this season, your goal was a top 30, how does it feel

:29:52. > :29:56.to take it off the list already? It is awesome, ultimate goal is top 15.

:29:57. > :30:01.I want to drive on and achieve that but a big relief. Encouraging for

:30:02. > :30:07.the future. Training is done, inspection is done, you feel good,

:30:08. > :30:13.attack from the back, OK? Come on. Welcome to Austria. Inevitably, in

:30:14. > :30:18.ski racing, the field is divided between those who are elated and

:30:19. > :30:27.those disappointed. Today would not be the day of Alex Tilley.

:30:28. > :30:34.It is a ruthless sport, you have to risk to qualify, what happened? I

:30:35. > :30:39.wanted to go out and focus on my technical skiing, which I succeeded

:30:40. > :30:46.in. Maybe a bit too much respect of the top, silly mistake at the

:30:47. > :30:51.bottom, but that is Lal. Alex fared slightly better, but failed to make

:30:52. > :30:58.it through to the second run, finishing a disappointing 45th. Dave

:30:59. > :31:05.Riding skied into a bridge in 16th place in the slalom. Henrik

:31:06. > :31:06.Kristoffersen's domination continued, taking his fourth World

:31:07. > :31:29.Cup victory of the season. If you want to see more of the night

:31:30. > :31:32.slalom from Flachau, this week's Ski Sunday

:31:33. > :31:34.Extra is on iPlayer. On Friday and Saturday,

:31:35. > :31:36.we have live coverage of the half-pipe and slopestyle

:31:37. > :31:38.finals from the Laax Open. Also on Saturday, we've got live

:31:39. > :31:41.coverage of the women's In alpine, progression pretty much

:31:42. > :31:44.boils down to getting In freestyle, it's

:31:45. > :31:46.about going bigger. So big, jaws are left agape

:31:47. > :31:49.and minds are blown. Ladies and gentlemen,

:31:50. > :31:58.I give you Legs of Steel. We are in the Tyrol region of

:31:59. > :32:05.Austria, heading to meet up with 25 of the world's best freestyle

:32:06. > :32:11.skiers, to meet up for what will be a very special event. Did not take

:32:12. > :32:16.much persuasion. I knew right away I would go. The pressure on this one

:32:17. > :32:27.is big. The risk factor, you are creating something really special

:32:28. > :32:33.and unique. In 2011, 13 members of an elite freestyle skiing crew went

:32:34. > :32:39.all out to impress. The spectacular multi-skier jump went viral, and the

:32:40. > :32:45.rest is history. Now they are back with reinforcements and a plan to

:32:46. > :32:52.take things to the next level. Gents, how are you. This is it, the

:32:53. > :32:57.design. This technical drawing is a lot different from the one you sent

:32:58. > :33:02.us. I am no physicist, that does not look like it would work. That is

:33:03. > :33:09.just sketches, how we see it from a rider's point of view. When we do

:33:10. > :33:16.that stuff, we go way more with a gut feeling. It is then the

:33:17. > :33:20.company's job to build it, and transform it into engineering

:33:21. > :33:25.sketches, that obviously works to build. I am not going to lie, I'm

:33:26. > :33:32.quite looking forward to seeing this. Me, too! The footage from the

:33:33. > :33:37.first project was rectangular. With three times the number of jumps,

:33:38. > :33:44.twice the number of skiers, the level of ambition for this one is

:33:45. > :33:52.truly breathtaking. Malaysia, here we are. That is not your average

:33:53. > :33:58.snow park, what are we looking at? Faces make a jumps, we have built.

:33:59. > :34:01.Magath. The main point of the shoot is to have 20, 30 skiers jumping

:34:02. > :34:04.over each other. is to have 20, 30 skiers jumping

:34:05. > :34:08.the park you will see is to have 20, 30 skiers jumping

:34:09. > :34:12.jumps, crossing over each other. What happens if the calculations are

:34:13. > :34:18.wrong? Someone might get their head chopped off. A loss of Jeopardy? Are

:34:19. > :34:25.you nervous? My biggest concern for this shot, if someone falls over in

:34:26. > :34:29.the middle of that. If you are deferred guide to land on the jump,

:34:30. > :34:35.you have another ten guys behind you running the risk of hitting you.

:34:36. > :34:44.That is not only going to hurt you, it'll hurt everybody else. Wow! I am

:34:45. > :34:49.not joking, standing looking across here, absolutely petrifying. The

:34:50. > :34:54.company told me it is the biggest one they have made. Some of the

:34:55. > :34:59.biggest jumps in competition where the Olympics late style jumps at 26

:35:00. > :35:06.metres, this is four metres bigger. I wanted to show you something. When

:35:07. > :35:11.we build the jump, what we do, we go up onto the take-off, where you are

:35:12. > :35:16.about to start. We throw snowball as far as we can. That determines how

:35:17. > :35:23.fast we have to go at the jump. Honestly? That is how we do it.

:35:24. > :35:28.Putting people's lives on the line with the strength of your arm. Does

:35:29. > :35:35.not sound like science, but let's have a go. Oh, yes. The snowball

:35:36. > :35:51.made it, the skier can make it. Apparently. With the build finally

:35:52. > :36:00.complete, testing could begin. After some tentative runs, confidence

:36:01. > :36:03.grew. As do the ambition in finding the limitations of this pretty mess

:36:04. > :36:12.of the park. -- of this but he When you are pushing boundaries, you

:36:13. > :37:02.risk crossing the line. There we go, unfortunately he took a

:37:03. > :37:06.pretty big it, came up short, landed sideways, throwing him into the

:37:07. > :37:10.landing, knocking himself out. He has come back around, the helicopter

:37:11. > :37:17.taking him last little, should be OK. -- taking him to the hospital.

:37:18. > :37:21.The reminder of how dangerous it would be. His concussion meant he

:37:22. > :37:27.was out of the running for the main event, but with the weather closing

:37:28. > :37:30.in, morale took another blow as conditions deteriorated and

:37:31. > :37:38.everything was put on hold. The weather is not ideal, patches of

:37:39. > :37:47.blue, kind of, not really. Oh, dear. Ready to go. Not really ready to go.

:37:48. > :37:54.Here is your high country forecast, checking in, 101.3. Little bit of

:37:55. > :37:58.cloud, little bit of sun. We will head up there, keep our fingers

:37:59. > :38:02.firmly crossed for a bit of action. Is it part and parcel having weather

:38:03. > :38:07.like this smack you have travelled all the way from Australia? It is

:38:08. > :38:14.part of this, but it is fun hanging out. There you go, ever the

:38:15. > :38:20.optimist. The weather is not ideal, really. We will see, maybe we will

:38:21. > :38:26.punch through the cloud, more or less blue skies at the top. Fingers

:38:27. > :38:33.well and truly crossed. What do you know? Our prayers were answered.

:38:34. > :38:43.Here, boys. You have to have a trusted everybody

:38:44. > :38:49.involved in the shoot, trust people filming to get the shot, the shapers

:38:50. > :38:53.have done their job, and the angles matchup, not going to fly into each

:38:54. > :39:01.other. We will figure it out, it'll have to be calculated, otherwise

:39:02. > :39:05.skis may be getting heads. They will not win anything at the end of it,

:39:06. > :39:08.but being part of something a lot bigger than one run in the

:39:09. > :39:14.competition. I want people to stand up and clapped Emma wow, this is

:39:15. > :39:21.sick, this is free skiing, I want to do it. Right, this is it, two years

:39:22. > :39:27.in the planning. Time for the big one.

:39:28. > :40:10.Dropping in three, two, ones ago. -- one, go.

:40:11. > :40:25.# Have A Little Help From My Friends - Van Morrison.

:40:26. > :40:42.Now, before we leave you, it's time for Ski Social.

:40:43. > :40:44.If this week's selection is anything to go by,

:40:45. > :40:46.the future of British freestyle in particular looks very bright.

:40:47. > :40:49.14-year-old Thea Fenwick has been ripping it in parks and on plastic.

:40:50. > :40:54.Likewise George Waite - nice grabs George.

:40:55. > :40:56.Fox, aged six, is loving the Chill Factor-e.

:40:57. > :40:59.While six-year-old Ralph is clearly not listening to his dad.

:41:00. > :41:10.Our favourite clip this week was five-year-old Travis Henderson.

:41:11. > :41:34.He will be knocking out Mike Ross rocket method. I have not seen you

:41:35. > :41:39.do that yet. Next week. My challenge has been met by Scott Fraser. You

:41:40. > :41:44.have to be set another one. How about a backscratching? You have to

:41:45. > :41:47.mix it up with new school. Backscratching to truck driver. Grab

:41:48. > :41:53.both of those skis in front of you. Keep sending us your pictures

:41:54. > :41:55.and videos, using the hashtag Ski Sunday - we love

:41:56. > :41:58.seeing you guys in action. And send us your questions too -

:41:59. > :42:01.we've got time for a couple Norwegian Saint wants

:42:02. > :42:04.to know the secret behind the Attacking Vikings' success

:42:05. > :42:06.despite their relatively small Well, who better to answer that

:42:07. > :42:19.than Attacking Viking Kjetil Thank you for your question, I will

:42:20. > :42:25.try to once of it. If I knew, we would be 100 skiers, not three. It

:42:26. > :42:30.is a cultural thing, training hard, we go out even though it is raining,

:42:31. > :42:34.doing that not just when you are on the World Cup team, but when you are

:42:35. > :42:38.eight, nine. In addition to being halfway intelligent, taking care of

:42:39. > :42:44.the people around you, good team spirit. That is how we have it.

:42:45. > :42:47.Working out nicely for us. We have an interview with him in next week's

:42:48. > :42:50.show. Finally, Archie wants to know how

:42:51. > :43:05.to progress from parallel Two tips. Of a shallow another

:43:06. > :43:10.gradient, so you don't get freaked out by the additional speed.

:43:11. > :43:19.Secondly, let the skis do the work. Let the radius cast them out. Roll

:43:20. > :43:24.the skis on to the edge, think pressure, big toe on the outside

:43:25. > :43:29.key, little toe on the inside. We're out of time, but join us next

:43:30. > :43:32.week for the biggest race The downhill from Kitzbuehel,

:43:33. > :43:44.raced on the infamous Hahnenkham. Amongst the biggest races you can

:43:45. > :43:51.win in skiing. It is a race that has made a lot of legends. Wow. Big

:43:52. > :43:56.attack from the great man. He takes it down here. Always one mistake you

:43:57. > :44:07.are in the hospital. The crashes big. It is as much racing against

:44:08. > :44:10.the hill is against another racer.
